Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

Phyllis comes into Society, spots Jeremy there and starts quizzing him about what he’s up to vis-à-vis Diane and Jack. Jeremy doesn’t let her know anything, but says mentions that by the end of the day, he’ll know where Diane’s loyalty lies. He also calls out Phyllis for her  “obsession” with Diane.

While Diane and Jeremy are there, Diane calls Jeremy and sets up a private meeting with him in his suite before he resumes his conversation with Phyllis. Jeremy warns Phyllis not to push him and adds that he’s better as a friend than an enemy, then gets up and leaves.

When Daniel comes into Society and sits down with Phyllis, the first thing she does is ask him if he noticed the guy who was just leaving the restaurant when Daniel entered. Daniel asks her who she is referring to, the man in the suit? Phyllis’s eyes widen as she tells him that the man is a criminal.

Daniel listens to Phyllis’s continuous ranting about Diane and about the extent of her involvement with Jeremy. Daniel grows impatient and tells his mother that this has to stop. She tells mentions that it had stopped for one brief moment in time when she thought Diane was gone, only to find out that she had never left in the first place.

Daniel urges Phyllis not to let things like this get to her. He also admits that he’s not sure he wants her to work with for him at Omega Sphere anymore, because of her negativity and the turmoil surrounding her.  Phyllis asks Daniel if he’s firing her before the project is even launched,  and he tells her this is not the case, but that she needs to tame her anger. He suggests that she read a self-help book or two.

At the Abbott house, Jack and Diane are in the living room talking about how their plan is coming along, and Jack says that he will prepare for undertaking the next step himself. Summer and Kyle come into the living room, quarreling. Jack and Diane let them know about combining some steps of the scheme to move things along. Summer declares that she doesn’t want any more information and heads out to work in a huff.

Later at Jabot, Summer tells Kyle that she still wants to go to Paris with Harrison and asks Kyle to join them. Kyle refuses.  Summer is adamant about not wanting herself and her husband to become entangled in another one of his mother’s messes. She adds that she won’t apologize for what she is saying.

Daniel walks in on Kyle and Summer’s argument and asks what’s going on, did a bomb go off. Kyle tells Daniel that he’s going to leave him and Daniel. Once Kyle is gone, Daniel tells Summer the latest about their mother. Daniel lets Summer know that he told Phyllis to get a take her anger down a few notches or they they won’t be able to collaborate with her on Omega Sphere. Summer tells Daniel that the best thing they can do is duck and take cover to avoid getting pulled into the path of their mother’s whirling tornado.

Kyle is on his way back and overhears this.  He asks Summer if she was talking about Diane or Phyllis. Summer admits that she was referring to her own mother, but notes that it could be about Diane also. Kyle says he doesn’t think that’s a fair comparison before getting a text from Victor. Victor tells Kyle to come to the ranch so they can discuss their potential plot to get Adam out of Jabot. Kyle is frustrated and tells Summer that this is the least of his concerns, that the only thing on his mind now is his mother, and getting her to the other side of her plan unharmed.

Back at Society, Tucker walks in and sits down with Phyllis. He becomes an audience for her to rant about how there’s no way she could get away with the kind of behavior that Diane has been. Tucker tells Phyllis repeats what he told her before the holidays, that being in general, the more at peace you are, the more things will go your way. He adds thastp fighting the world so hard and take the path of least resistance and he tells her that her anger’s going to eat her alive. Phyllis asks him what happened to the guy who said that he wanted “burn it all down” because she found him more interesting.

In Jeremy’s suite, Diane presents him with the stolen necklace. He is very impressed and asks Diane asks how she liberated the necklace from captivity and how he can be sure it’s Nikki Newman’s. Diane tells him that Nikki was pictured wearing that exact necklace at the at opening of the latest exhibit at the Modern Museum of Chico and many other galas. She also shows him the engraving on the clasp, which is “N and V”.

Jeremy buys into what Diane has been telling him and suggests that they steal from other rich and powerful citizens of Genoa City, starting with Diane’s red-headed arch enemy. He wants to rob her blind. However, Diane likes the idea but manages to convince Jeremy that all of her enemies missing their jewlrobbing her enemies would be a sure way to get caught. She strongly suggests that they need a long-term strategy.

Jeremy tells Diane to turn around, she looks uncomfortable. Jeremy tells her to trust him, just like he’s trusting her. She turns around and he puts the stolen necklace on Diane. He requests a kiss and she has no choice but to go along with it.  Jeremy starts taking his tie off, and kissing Diane’s neck, hoping  to get Diane into bed, but she gets him to back off by coughing and pretending that she’s allergic to his cologne.

He says he’ll take a quick shower to rinse the cologne off, which gives Diane the opportunity to take something out of her purse and stash it in one of the dresser drawers. Then she slips a piece of paper under the mattress while he’s in the bathroom.

At Crimson Lights, Sharon and Chance talk about his life choices. She offers to give him friendly advice and he tells her to bring it on. She tells him that if he has doubts about his chosen career, that he needs to dig deeper to figure out what the cause might be.  He thinks about this, and mentions that in his current job, he likes the structure and that it feels good to undercover and pretend to be someone else for awhile. On the other hand, he says, he doesn’t want to live a life where he stands to lose so much every minute he’s on the job.

Sharon suggests that he could go back to therapy and consider taking a leave of absence from GCPD to regroup. Jack comes into the coffeehouse, greets Sharon and Chance, orders his “usual” and sits down at a table.

Chance gets a surprise phone call and says “that doesn’t happen every day,” and when Sharon asks who it is, he tells her that it’s the Chicago Polic Department. Jack overhears and takes notice. Then he gets a text from Diane, saying that “it’s set” and he sits, pensively, at the table in Crimson Lights.

Update written by Suzanne

At Forrester Creations, Brook and Taylor share Chinese food for lunch and have a chat. They’re excited that Sheila is going before a judge today to get what she deserves. They agree that they’re both survivors and glad that they’re putting themselves first (instead of going back to Ridge). Brooke wonders why she was always so needy before. Taylor admits that it still hurts that Ridge left her at the altar, but she’s glad that they’re both re-reevaluating their lives. They wonder what’s next for them. Taylor asks if Brooke is going to date and wonders if she’ll get back with Bill. Brooke assures her that she’s not going to date Bill, but she thinks he does have a new woman in his life. Later, they try on fancy dresses for fun and compliment each other. They talk about Ridge again. Brooke asks Taylor to come over for a “girls night in” to watch TV and eat popcorn, so Taylor agrees. They are so friendly now that they’re briefly holding hands. Taylor again mentions how glad she is that Steffy will be able to move on from Sheila. The two women hug.

In court, Judge McMullan wants to hear Steffy and Finn’s testimony about Sheila. Bill is spying on them via his laptop. Steffy hestitates, thinking about Bill’s threat to her mom. Sheila insists on addressing Steffy and Finn. She tells them how sorry she is and how much she loves them. They glare at her, clearly not believing her. Sheila mentions Taylor and how much she admires her, but it’s clearly a veiled threat. Steffy has tears of anger and says that she hopes to get closure and justice. She assures Sheila that she will never have any part in their lives. Steffy tells the judge that she has no testimony to give. Finn does the same. The judge tells them that Mike came forward to say that he forced her, against her will, to escape from prison, and video evidence backs him up. Therefore, he is forced to dismiss the charges and let Sheila go free. Steffy is very upset

Biography – Barbara B.

Barbara B.

Sharon Case (not Barbara) fan art

I am a retired Librarian and a native New Yorker.  Daytime soaps have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.  I’ve watched all of the ABC soaps at one time or another as well as many others.  I started watching The Young and the Restless several years ago, and I really enjoy it.

Among the things I like to do are walking, emailing with friends around the country, baking and art projects.

Update written by Shane

Sasha and Gladys were sitting at a table at the Metro Court restaurant when Sonny came in. Sasha thanked him for the flowers on what would have been Liam’s first birthday. Sonny said that it was important to remember birthdays.  Gladys joked that Sonny could go right ahead and forget her next one if he liked.  Sonny asked Sasha if she would allow him to say a few words that he knew that Brando would have wanted him to say.  When Sasha nodded, Sonny told Sasha and Gladys that there is nothing more important than family and that Liam would always be in their hearts.

Sonny asked how the guardianship arrangement was going, and Gladys told him about the deal she had to approve for Sasha at Deception to appease the investors. Sonny wondered if Sasha had seen the changes that the new chef had made in the kitchen yet, and he invited her along for a tour.

After the tour of the kitchen, Sonny took Sasha aside and admitted that he’d wanted a “one-on-one” with her to check in about how Gladys was really doing as guardian. Sasha responded that, after she and Gladys’ had their initial disagreement over the recent deal, Sasha had realized that Gladys was only trying to protect Sasha’s share in the company. She told Sonny that Gladys’ intentions were genuine and she knew that she was only trying to watch out for her in the long run.

Britt took a sip of her drink at the Metro Court bar and immediately launched back into coughing fits. Brad approached and advised her to do something about the cough, and she snapped, “Which one of us is the doctor?” She apologized and said that she’d had a bad day. She then remarked that she would “never get into heaven” so on that night she wanted to raise hell with Brad. He saw right through the act and wondered aloud what was going on with her.  At first, he quizzed her about Cody, but when Britt asked if he saw Cody, he changed the topic. Selina approached and in typical Selina fashion interrupted their conversation. Selina was pleased to see Brad enjoying a night out after a hard day at work and she was also happy he had a reliable friend. Britt pointedly promised that she had Brad’s back if anyone ever tried to hurt him. Brad looked at Britt like she had officially lost her mind. Selina advised the bartender to put their drinks on her tab, and walked away.

Brad was shocked at the way Britt had talked to Selina, because as he said no one spoke to Selina like that, at least no one who expected to live long. Britt replied that Selina didn’t scare her anymore and then dropped another bombshell when she casually admitted to Brad that Selina had blackmailed her into insisting that Brad work for her and not for GH. Brad insisted that he actually liked working with his aunt, so both she and Britt had actually done him a favor. He knew that she was dealing with something big and asked how he could help her out in return. She replied that it was nothing that alcohol and music wouldn’t fix. She grabbed his hand, and the two ran out to go to the Savoy.

Gladys approached Selina at a table and said that it was nice to see a “fellow investor.” Selina expressed her sympathy about Brando. Gladys commented that she and Sasha were looking after each other,  after the court had made it clear that what was Sasha’s was Gladys’. Seeing an entrance, Selina mentioned her “private party” she held occasionally at the Savoy, and she wondered how Gladys felt about Texas Hold ‘Em. “I’m not disinterested,” Gladys replied. Selina handed Gladys a card with information about the game and advised her to keep it private.

Sonny and Sasha approached Gladys and Selina, and Sonny mentioned that he  didn’t know that they were acquainted. Selina replied that they were “potential business associates.” “What kind of business?” a suspicious Sonny asked. Selina was glad to see Sasha doing better, and Sasha replied that she was getting help from friends. Selina hoped that Sasha would consider her a friend, as well, and she left as Sonny glared at Gladys. Sasha hugged Gladys for always having her best interest at heart. “Of course. Always,” Gladys replied as she held the card behind her back.

At the police station, Dante was talking with an officer when he spotted Sam. She’d decided to visit him at work, but she insisted that the surprise she had for him should be “private.” They went into the interrogation room, and he was delighted to open the bag she handed him and find “a hoagie from Sal’s.” As he ate, he vented about his assigned investigation into Anna. Sam was surprised when he mentioned that Sonny could be involved, and he asked about any safe houses she could direct him to. Sam said that Anna was a “super-spy” and would be far away from Port Charles by now.

After Dante’s sandwich, the two of them dreamed about winning the lottery and taking the kids on a vacation to Iceland before they became too old to want to go anywhere with them.

Nikolas let Elizabeth into Esme’s room, and they found Esme passed out on the floor. Elizabeth examined Esme and lied to Nikolas that the baby was in distress, so they needed to call an ambulance or risk a miscarriage. Because Nikolas didn’t like either of those options, Elizabeth advised him to get a knife from the kitchen so she could sterilize it and do a C-section.  “Without anesthesia?” Nikolas replied in disbelief.  “That just seems so inhumane.”  Elizabeth, continuing with the ruse, told Nikolas he needed to get his priorities straight and then she began to “prep” Esme for the procedure. But, at that moment Esme had reached her limit, “Get your grubby paws off me and my baby!” Esme screamed as she came off the floor.

Elizabeth smiled  and gave a sideways glance at Esme, saying she knew that playing Esme would be the only way to cure her. Esme yelled that Elizabeth was supposed to help her, but Elizabeth had zero sympathy for Esme because of what she had done to Cameron. As Nikolas and Elizabeth left the room, Elizabeth was put off by Esme’s cries for help. Esme couldn’t believe she had been outsmarted by Elizabeth.  Esme realized the baby was kicking. She wondered if the baby would be a soccer player. She began to laugh uncontrollably and then the laughter eventually turned to tears.

Downstairs at Wyndemere, Elizabeth asked what Nikolas’ endgame was. Nikolas thought that he would fly Esme to Cassadine Island, where she would live out the rest of her days after giving birth. He begged Elizabeth not to say anything to the police, and when she agreed, he replied that he owed her. Elizabeth insisted that Esme have the baby at Wyndemere, and she would serve as the nurse.

On the phone with Martin, Laura insisted that she was getting some take-out for the two of them, as they were family. She didn’t want to get his hopes up, but she revealed that there were a lot of people risking their lives trying to find Lucy.

Inside Haven Bistro, Robert and Holly were enjoying some private time together without people coming up to tell Holly how pleased they were that she was back. He talked about how worried he was about Anna, who he hadn’t heard from since her escape. Laura arrived and sat down with them while she waited for her take-out order. Laura explained to Holly that she had discovered she had two brothers, and Martin’s relationship with Lucy. Laura continued that Martin was convinced of Anna’s guilt because of the video “evidence.” Holly went on a passionate tirade against gaslighting. When she calmed down, she claimed that she knew what it was like to lose someone, and how many ways there were to lose them. She said she just knew that Anna wasn’t responsible.

Laura commented that Holly sounded sure of herself, and she wondered if Holly knew something that they didn’t. Holly abruptly excused herself to get some air. Laura was suspicious of Holly, but Robert thought that it was a big jump to think that Holly was working with Victor. Laura knew that Robert loved Holly, but she believed that he knew deep down that Holly was hiding something.

Outside, Holly ran through the evening of Lucy’s shooting in her mind: Lucy looking worried, begging for her life, shots being fired, Lucy falling into the water, a woman discarding the weapon and a wig in a bag, and then the woman turns to reveal her true face, it is Holly.

Recap written by Christine

Amanda went to the hotel to spend time with Phyllis. Phyllis was glad they could get together. She knew Amanda needed to decompress after all the stuff with her family. She thought Amanda looked amazing though and surmised that someone was taking care of her. As they headed to the lounge to chat, Sally appeared to yell at Phyllis about crossing her one time too many. Phyllis said she forgot to tell Sally that she sent Jack and Kyle a video of Sally and her co-conspirator going at it. Sally snapped that for the last time, she and Tara weren’t conspiring. She asked if it was even legal for Phyllis to share that video. Phyllis thought that was the least of Sally’s worries. Sally felt it was bad enough that Phyllis spied on her guests, but then she shared her lies with Jack. Phyllis felt Jack had plenty of reasons to doubt Sally. “How dare you continue to interfere in my relationship with him. I warned you before,” Sally snarled. Phyllis said that was why Jack doubted Sally – he’d seen through her fake charm. She brought up the time Jack overheard Sally vow to take Phyllis down. Sally said she and Jack were moving past that, and Phyllis replied that Jack saw the light. Sally called Phyllis spiteful and vicious. Phyllis said Sally could end this by telling her what she and Tara did to drive Summer out of town. “You tell me now. Right now. Or things will get much much worse for you,” Phyllis warned.

Sally said she had nothing to confess, and she accused Phyllis of manufacturing an issue because she couldn’t stand the fact that Summer was perfectly happy at her glamorous new job far far away from Phyllis. Phyllis hissed that Sally and Tara were way out of their league. She wouldn’t stop until she got the truth. Sally said Phyllis was unbelievable and left.

Amanda noted that Phyllis wasted no time acting on her theory about Sally and Tara colluding. Phyllis said it wasn’t a theory. Amanda asked what proof Phyllis had. Phyllis said she had zero proof, but she had this – she gestured to her brain. She said Jack had a hard time believing her because she didn’t have anything to show him. She said those two little girls knew she was on to them, and they were afraid and they were going make a mistake, and then Phyllis would take them down.

Amanda noted that she wasn’t just Phyllis’s friend, she was one hell of an attorney. So she wanted to hear about this video Sally mentioned. Phyllis told Amanda the whole story. Amanda was alarmed that Phyllis stole Sally’s phone. Phyllis wished she’d had audio in the video, so this thing would be over. Amanda warned that Phyllis was playing with fire. Phyllis asked that Amanda help her out instead of judging. Amanda agreed to help put the pieces of the puzzle together. Phyllis was thrilled. She said she tried to do this with Billy, but they didn’t get anywhere. Amanda said Billy was good at considering all the angles, but she thought she and Phyllis could crack the case. Amanda had the feeling Tara was the key to the mystery, so she thought they should set Sally aside.

Phyllis and Amanda recapped the story so far – Tara and Harrison moved into the Abbott house around the same time Summer got a job offer from the biggest designer in Milan. Out of all the qualified people all over the world, Angelina Marchetti honed in on Summer in Genoa City and offered the job, site unseen. Summer went from saying she was in love with Kyle and couldn’t wait to be a stepmom to moving away. Phyllis said Tara took Summer’s place at the Abbott dining room table, and Sally took Summer’s job. Amanda played devil’s advocate and suggested that Summer leaving was just luck and timing. Phyllis didn’t believe in coincidence – people made their own luck. She said Tara made her own luck when she latched onto Ashland. Amanda added that Tara insinuated herself into the life of another prominent man with a famous last name. Phyllis said Tara was using her kid to get what she wanted. Amanda didn’t think Phyllis knew that for sure. “I have seen that game. I have played that game. A very long time ago,” Phyllis said. Amanda asked if Phyllis could be projecting, and Phyllis said absolutely not.

Amanda said, assuming Phyllis was right, why did Tara need Sally? She felt like they were missing something. She asked when, exactly, Summer got that job offer. Phyllis thought back and remembered that Sally told Summer about the job. Sally claimed she was interested in this job, then Summer got it. Later, Sally claimed she was okay with Summer getting the job because she was happy with the JCV job. Phyllis thought they had to do a deep dive into this. Phyllis decided to call Angelina Marchetti. Amanda thought calling Summer’s boss was a bold move, and it was the middle of the night in Italy, so Angelina might be asleep. Phyllis happened to know that Angelina was in LA promoting her fall line. Phyllis knew Angelina’s PR person, because she used to work with Francesca during her Restless Style days. Phyllis called Francesca and asked how Summer was doing, then she asked for a big favor. Phyllis got Angelina’s number from Francesca and placed the call. Angelina recognized Phyllis’s name – she said Summer was brilliant, and she’d always be grateful to her dear friend Eric for recommending her. Phyllis asked if it was Eric Forrester, and Angelina said yes – she was meeting with him. Nick arrived and overheard Phyllis say she was on her way to LA, as well. He gave her a questioning look.

Tara entered the dimly lit Abbott living room and saw Kyle sitting there. She didn’t know he was home. He said that he came back to find out how things went with Harrison, but when he got home, she was on the phone with Sally. Ignoring the part about Sally, Tara stated that breaking the news of Ashland’s illness to Harrison was so much harder than she thought it’d be. Voice breaking, she said it was one of the hardest moments of this whole ordeal. She was so glad Kyle was home. Tara supposed the talk with Harrison went as well as it could’ve. Kyle asked how Harrison reacted. Tara said it was difficult telling Harrison that this big strong man he’d known as his whole life as his father was sick, but in the end, he accepted it, maybe because he didn’t really understand. Kyle said that now that Ashland was seeking treatment, Harrison might have him around longer than they initially thought. Tara hoped so. She said as long as their son had love and support from all of them, he’d make it through. Kyle asked what the phone call with Sally was about. Tara pretended Sally called to apologize for blowing up at her over the Phyllis thing. Tara acknowledged Kyle’s feelings on Sally, but she said she felt sorry for her, given the way Phyllis had been hounding her over Summer leaving town. Now that Tara had been dragged into it, she know what it was like to be the target of Phyllis’s unfair accusations. She hoped he hadn’t let her misguided suspicions get to him too. He said Phyllis wanted to protect Summer, and she had a long history of jumping to conclusions about people. Tara asked Kyle if he still trusted her.

Kyle asked Tara what she was so worried about. She said he and Jack had been so kind to her when she didn’t have anyone else. She’d hate to think he was questioning whether letting her move in was a mistake. He hoped she knew he had no qualms or regrets about that. He wanted to look after his son, and he felt she and Harrison needed and deserved a stable environment. She said Phyllis had the impression that she was a gold digger. She needed to know if Phyllis had gotten to him and he no longer trusted her. He didn’t doubt her, but he knew for a fact how manipulative Sally could be. “So you think she’s using me. In what way?” Tara asked. Kyle didn’t know what Sally was up to, and he didn’t think it was worth getting worked up about, especially today when Tara had dealt with a lot. Kyle asked Tara how she saw things going forward, noting that Ashland might have more time than they thought. Tara was adamant that the marriage was over. Kyle said Tara and Harrison could stay here as long as they wanted, and they’d continue to co-parent with Ashland as long as they could. He assumed she’d want to start dating soon, possibly even remarry, and he didn’t want to keep her from getting on with her life.

Kyle didn’t mean to put Tara on the spot. She said he didn’t. She’d been so lonely after Ashland cut her out of his life, and she knew Kyle understood after what happened with Summer. He asked what she planned to do about that loneliness. “If only there was a simple answer,” she replied. Jack arrived and asked Tara for a moment with Kyle. She left the room. He said he confronted Sally and her first instinct was to lie, so he ended it with her. Jack said Kyle could say I told you so. Kyle understood Jack was trying to see the best in the woman he was attracted to. Jack said even after Sally was busted, she still wouldn’t admit anything and she said it was a set up on Phyllis’s part. Kyle mentioned that Tara said the same thing, and knowing Phyllis, he guessed it made sense. Jack said Phyllis had crossed so many lines here, however, it was starting to look like Tara and Sally were more than just colleagues.

Jack said Sally was panicking and desperate to put the blame on Phyllis. Kyle said that if Sally was hiding something… Jack finished the statement – Tara could be hiding something too. Meanwhile, Tara eavesdropped on the conversation. Kyle said Phyllis couldn’t just hate Sally and Tara for no reason. Jack hated the way Phyllis handled this, but he wasn’t surprised, since she’d always been protective of her daughter. Kyle said that was why he attributed Phyllis’s actions to the pain of seeing her daughter move away. Jack said Phyllis had always been a pot-stirrer, but her instincts were always on the money. Tara walked away. Kyle asked if Jack really thought there was some conspiracy here. Jack didn’t want to think that, but too many things didn’t add up, and he couldn’t just dismiss it entirely. “Can you?” he asked.

Tara walked in and said Harrison was fast asleep. She told Kyle that she was thinking about a swim. It was a beautiful night. Her face fell when he didn’t agree to join her. He said to go ahead, because he had something to take care of. Kyle left, and Jack said he wanted to turn in. Tara told Jack she sensed something had shifted in the way he and Kyle viewed her. While their family bond was new, she hoped he knew he could ask her anything. She was an open book, and if she could put her concerns at ease, she asked him to give her that chance. Jack tried to postpone this talk, because he really did want to go to bed, but Tara didn’t want to let it fester. She knew the thing with Sally and Phyllis complicated matters. He said everything was complicated with them. She suggested things were too awkward and that she and Harrison should move out. He quickly said no – Harrison was part of the family, and he always would be, and that meant Tara was too. He asked her to reassure him that she’d been upfront about everything with him and Kyle and that he wouldn’t eventually learn something about her that would make him regret letting her into his home.

Kyle was at the Society bar staring into his drink. Sally walked up and asked him why it was so hard for everyone in this town to give her a chance – why were they all determined to ruin her life?

At Newman Media, Chloe told Adam about problems with her office. The internet was spotty, the fridge didn’t work, she needed a different chair and the lighting was bad. She asked if he gave her that office to mess with her. He sarcastically said he was up all night thinking of ways to make her work life miserable. She said she wouldn’t past him. He told her to order whatever she needed, and he asked if there was anything else. She didn’t reply, and he commented on her being at a loss for a comeback. He got news that his son was home. She said to tell Connor she said hi, and he said that he’d see her tomorrow if she decided to come back.

Rey brought Connor to Crimson Lights, and Sharon greeted them both. Sharon chatted with Connor and told him that Adam talked about him all the time. Frowning, Rey asked if Sharon and Adam had been in touch. Sharon ordered Connor lemonade and Rey told him to go have a seat, because Adam would be here soon. Once the child was out of earshot, Rey questioned Sharon. She said she briefly spoke with Adam when he came in for coffee, and they mostly discussed Connor. Rey asked if Adam was playing on Sharon’s old sympathies. Sharon said Adam was just a dad missing his kid. Adam arrived and overheard Sharon ask Rey for a kiss.

Adam joined Connor and asked about his trip. Connor enjoyed it. He got to spend lots of time with his mom. Connor asked to go see his grandma and grandpa, and Adam explained that they were in Europe on vacation. He said that maybe Faith could take Connor riding tomorrow. Connor hoped so. Connor was glad to be hanging out with Adam. Adam was glad to have Connor back. Rey’s back was turned, and he didn’t see Adam make eye contact with Sharon. “It was lonely here on my own” he said while staring at her. Sharon looked away.

Adam thanked Rey for driving Connor back and asked how Chelsea was. Rey thought she seemed to be doing okay – she was following the doctor’s instructions and going to therapy, and she looked after Connor. Rey thought Connor was great, and he’d been good with his grandmother. Adam couldn’t be more proud of his considerate and loving son. Adam said he had to go back to his office to get something. Father and son left.

Sharon offered Rey something to eat, and he said being with her was all he needed. Rey told Sharon how Connor and Anita played video games for hours. Sharon said Faith got to meet her favorite band, thanks to Devon and Moses. Rey saw the photo Faith posted, and he wanted Faith to tell him all about it. He asked about Mariah. Sharon said she just got some vague texts. She wished Mariah would reach out so Sharon could help her as her mom and therapist. Rey said he came home, and Mariah would too. She asked if Chelsea would really be okay without supervision. He said it was interesting to see Chelsea in a different environment, away from Adam. He thought the distance helped. He said Chelsea was with her family 24/7, so he didn’t spend much time with her. He tested Chelsea and gave her opportunities to give him the slip, but she never took advantage. Now, the local law enforcement would check in with Chelsea and she was required to carry a GPS enabled cell phone. He didn’t think she was going to do anything to jeopardize her access to Connor though.

Sharon thought Rey was amazing – Chelsea put him in the hospital, but she could hear the admiration in his voice. He forgave Chelsea – she’d been through so much physical and emotional trauma. He thought she truly regretted what she’d done and she deserved a second chance. She called him the kindest, most generous man she’d ever met. “If you’re into that sort of thing,” he replied. Sharon flashed back to Adam saying he thought she was more attracted to his wild side. She said that the draw was helping him become the person he was meant to be. Adam saw her point. He said he didn’t think Rey had a dark side, so whatever thing she had for bad boys in the past, she was clearly over it. In the present, Sharon told Rey that she loved everything about him, and she was grateful to be married to such a good man. He said he’d rather be sexy, handsome or brilliant. She said he was all that and more, so he suggested they go back to the house so she could prove it to him. She said they’d better go soon. As they were leaving, she found a book Connor left behind. He said Chelsea gave that to him for the ride home. Sharon admitted that, despite everything she did, Chelsea tried to be a good mom. Rey said Chelsea confessed that she wished she could take it all back – she hated what she did to him, to Adam and especially to Connor – breaking up his family. Sharon couldn’t imagine the guilt weighing on her. Rey said Chelsea truly regretted how things turned out with Adam. He thought Chelsea had a hard time letting go.

Chloe took a folder to Adam’s office, and she glanced around. Chelsea called, and the friends video chatted. Chelsea found out where Chloe was and asked if she was snooping. Chloe said no, then she changed that to “not really.” Chelsea asked if Chloe was trying to get fired. Chloe said no, it was a sweet deal so far – Adam gave her a big budget, and most importantly, he wasn’t getting in her way. He was also keeping his word to let her hire Chelsea. Chelsea said Adam must really feel bad. Chloe said Adam wasn’t doing Chelsea any favors – she was the best thing to ever happen to him, and he blew it. Chelsea appreciated the support, but now she realized that she blamed Adam for things that were all in her head. Chloe contended that Adam always was and always would be bad. Chelsea knew some people would say that about her, but it wasn’t that simple. She was just tired of all the rage, and she was finally ready to let it go.

Adam and Connor walked into his office and were surprised to see Chloe. Chloe directed Connor to Chelsea’s call. Chelsea started talking to Connor about the ride home. Adam said there was plenty of time to discuss that later – he came to get his laptop, and he needed to get Connor home. He said they could talk before Connor went to bed. Adam noted to Chloe that she’d been planning to go home. He and Connor left Chloe in the office. Chelsea was glad Connor seemed okay. Chloe said he’d be fine as long as she and Adam kept things strictly business and focused on co-parenting. Chelsea said of course.

Adam took Connor back to the main house. Connor told Adam they had to make some plans for when Chelsea came home. Adam dodged that and told Connor to go unpack.

Recap written by Christine

While Kyle waited for Tara to come home, he and Jack speculated about the video of the argument between Tara and Sally. Kyle wondered if Tara found out Sally was responsible for Summer leaving town. Jack didn’t think that was the case. Kyle thought it’d explain why Tara was so upset in the elevator – Phyllis had blamed her for Summer leaving. Jack clarified that Phyllis’s theory was that Tara and Sally were working together. He was sure Phyllis saw that video as proof. Kyle was sure they’d get to the bottom of it when Tara got home. He figured there would be a simple explanation.

At the hotel, Phyllis accused Sally and Tara of having something to do with Summer leaving town. Sally said that Summer was having the time of her life, so if Sally did have something to do with it, which she didn’t, Phyllis should be thanking her, not sending text messages from her phone. Phyllis continued to deny having anything to do with the text message. Phyllis asked why she’d do something like that, unless she wanted the person who received the text to freak out and rush over here to confront Sally. Sally said that if that was Phyllis’s plan, it obviously didn’t work, because no one freaked out. Phyllis revealed that she knew Sally and Tara argued in the elevator. Sally realized there were security cameras in the elevator, and she accused Phyllis of spying, but Phyllis said as the proprietor, she needed to know what was going on at all times. Sally couldn’t believe Phyllis would go to those extremes, and Phyllis replied that the cameras weren’t hidden. Sally argued that Phyllis was snooping on a private conversation, but Phyllis said it was an elevator, not a confessional. Tara came downstairs, and Sally brought her up to speed on Phyllis’s scheme. Tara said she was dealing with a lot, and she didn’t need to get caught up in Sally’s drama. She left. Phyllis asked Sally how it felt to get thrown under the bus.

At the Abbott house, Kyle told Tara that he and Jack got a strange message from Phyllis. She asked if Phyllis mentioned she’d been spying on her. Jack said they deduced that on their own, and they weren’t okay with it. Kyle wondered why she went to see Sally after she said she was going to have some time alone. Tara said she didn’t want to involve Kyle. Tara said she got a troubling text that she thought was from Sally. She spun a false tale about not remembering exactly what it said, but it had said something about Phyllis being a problem. She said Sally realized Phyllis sent it from her phone, it was childish and ridiculous. Tara asked what Phyllis said. Kyle showed her the video and noted that she seemed pretty upset with Sally.

Tara was shocked Phyllis recorded them and sent it to Kyle and Jack. She asked if Phyllis was obsessed. Jack and Kyle asked Tara to explain what happened – why did she show Sally her phone. Tara said she was showing Sally the text she received, and Sally showed her that she didn’t send it. Tara said she hadn’t been sure what to believe in the elevator, and she’d flown off the handle on Sally, which she was embarrassed about. Jack said there was no need for her to feel embarrassed. She said Sally was constantly complaining about Phyllis, and in the moment, she felt like Sally was trying to enlist her in the pointless feud. Tara moaned about all the strain she’d been under lately. Jack said he and Kyle both knew how persistent Phyllis could be, particularly when she thought she was protecting her daughter. Tara said she didn’t do anything to Summer. Tara recalled previously saying she didn’t need Jack’s help with Phyllis, but she might be wrong – she’d never dealt with someone as vicious as Phyllis. Jack said he’d already spoken to Phyllis in general terms and told her to back off everyone. Kyle said he talked to Phyllis this morning and told her not to blame Tara for Summer leaving. Tara felt like Phyllis wouldn’t stop until she’d run her and Harrison out of town. Jack vowed to deal with this right now. He left.

Tara and Kyle came downstairs after visiting Harrison. Tara said their toddler seemed more mature than some of the adults they’d dealt with lately. She said at least Ashland’s illness gave him an excuse, Phyllis just seemed to like causing drama. Kyle said it was more complicated – Phyllis was protective of her daughter. Kyle had been on her list more than once. Tara understood protecting your kid – there was nothing she wouldn’t do for Harrison.

Jack confronted Phyllis. She asked what Tara had to say. He said he and Tara were weary of her constant antagonism. She said she was just gathering information, and when she was truly antagonistic, Tara would know. He asked if she really stole Sally’s phone. She thought he should be interrogating those two little scammers. He told her to back off Tara; he didn’t blame Tara for being put out by Phyllis’s attacks. She mockingly said something about poor innocent Tara. She asked why Tara ran over to the hotel and argued with Sally after she got the text. He challenged Phyllis to explain it. Phyllis thought Tara was afraid of getting caught and losing her cushy life at the Abbott mansion. He wanted hard proof of Phyllis’s claims. She said he was turning a blind eye to everything in front of him because he wanted to believe Sally and Tara. Phyllis cried that she was being scapegoated. She vowed to prove Tara and Sally ran her daughter out of town. She asked why he didn’t give her and Summer the benefit of the doubt. She asked if he’d talked to Sally. He planned to. She said to go do that and not to let Sally talk her way out of it. He resented the insinuation. She told him to resent it all he wanted. He stormed over to the elevator.

Jack went upstairs, and he told Sally he wanted the truth. Her only question was whether he heard about it from Tara or Phyllis. He said he spoke to both of them, and he wanted to hear from Sally. He plead with her to be straight with him. She contended that Phyllis wanted to turn everyone against her, including Tara, whom Sally had to work with. She didn’t want this to affect her career, and she asked if he could get Phyllis to back off. He’d already made his feelings to Phyllis clear. He asked what she and Tara discussed in the elevator. She gave him the basics about Phyllis texting Tara using Sally’s phone. She said that Tara told her she didn’t want to be part of the drama. Sally didn’t want to either, but Phyllis wasn’t giving her a choice. He asked what the text said. Sally said she never saw it, because Phyllis deleted it from her phone. Jack showed Sally the video and pointed out that Tara was clearly showing Sally the text. Sally shifted the story and said she saw it, but she didn’t read it. She asked it really mattered. He snapped that it did matter, because he couldn’t trust her to tell him the truth. She begged him not to overreact over something so small and play into Phyllis’s hand. He said she couldn’t provide him with an explanation. She maintained that she told him the truth, and she didn’t remember the exact wording of the text because it didn’t matter. She thought what should shock him was that Phyllis stole her phone and was trying to undermine her professionally and personally. Jack told Sally that her efforts to redirect his attention toward Phyllis and away from the topic at hand weren’t helping her case. It only made him more suspicious of what else she was hiding. She swore she wasn’t hiding something “Oh God, I actually believe that,” he said. “At this point I honestly think it’s instinct on your part to deflect blame. And I can understand that, but I – what I can’t do is build a relationship with someone I can’t completely trust,” he said. As he continued his speech breaking things off, she begged him to take a step back, put this aside and go to dinner like they’d planned. She was adamant that they could get past this – they were so good together. He’d thought so too, but as compatible as they were, he couldn’t shake the feeling that they’d keep ending up here, with her making excuses and him questioning his judgment. He needed a lot more than that. He left.

Jack went downstairs, and Phyllis asked how it went. He snapped that it was none of her business. “That bad, huh?” she replied. He didn’t know what was going on or who was telling the truth, but he agreed with Sally in one area – Phyllis was enjoying this. She said she wasn’t enjoying it. She knew he liked Sally, and she wished she was wrong about Sally and Tara, but she didn’t think she was. She asked if he did. All he knew was Phyllis would never change. She didn’t think that was a bad thing. He left.

Devon came home and saw Amanda lounging in the living room. She hoped he didn’t mind Moses letting her in. He’d gone to see Nate. Devon told Amanda that he would make her a key. She asked if he was sure he was ready to level up like that. He said he was just throwing around the idea. She asked about Abby and Mariah. He said he’d fill her in over dinner. He knew she was seeing Phyllis later, so they could eat early. He had to go upstairs and change, and he told her to open some wine because they were celebrating. She asked what about. He said Sutton was going to pay, and it was because of her. She appreciated his confidence in her, but it wasn’t a slam dunk. She wanted to just focus on him and her today and not the case. He was fine with that. He came downstairs in a suit, and she appreciated what she saw. She told him if he really wanted to dinner, he wouldn’t have come downstairs looking so good. She said she’d help him out of that shirt, and he realized they weren’t going to make it to dinner.

Devon was downstairs making a snack to bring Amanda in bed, but she came downstairs in the shirt he’d been wearing earlier. They had wine, and she admitted the case was still on her mind, despite his best efforts. He understood. She couldn’t stop thinking about how things would’ve been if Richard had lived. He could’ve given the twins a normal middle class upbringing, and she would’ve grown up to be a completely different person. She would’ve been driven, but not so focused on trying to prove herself. Devon said maybe if Richard survived, he could’ve convinced Naya to be involved in their daughter’s lives. Amanda doubted that, because she didn’t think Naya would ever stand up to Sutton.

Devon couldn’t imagine growing up with a manipulative father like Sutton. He thought it had clearly messed with Naya’s head, since she was willing to sacrifice herself to protect him. Amanda was going to try and get through to Naya, but she wasn’t hopeful. Devon credited Naya with coming a long way since the time she denied that Amanda was her daughter. Amanda said that when they first met, Naya looked at her the way Sutton still did – like a problem, a mistake from the past. Devon wasn’t sure about that. “I think Naya knows that there’s something wrong with Sutton, and she may have been afraid that if she brought you close the family you’d see him for who he really was and you’d expose him,” he said. Amanda said that was exactly what happened. That was Devon’s point – Naya still made the decision to bring Amanda into the family, and she put her on his legal team. Amanda asked if Devon was saying, on some level, Naya wanted the truth to come out. Devon wasn’t sure he’d go that far, but he said Naya had plenty of opportunities to cut Amanda out for good, and she knew what was at stake if she didn’t, but she didn’t go that route. She held onto her daughter. That made him think the mother daughter relationship could heal.

Devon and Amanda had cheese, wine and ice cream, and he promised he’d always distract her when she needed him to. She said she had a dysfunctional family – her grandfather the criminal, the mother who idolized him and her father and sister she’d never get a chance to meet. He told her not to forget Imani – there was potential in that relationship. She said he was always so positive and he saw the good in everyone. She said when she wanted to walk away, he was always there encouraging her. She thanked him for believing in her. He said it was very easy to do when you love someone. She was caught off guard. He reiterated that he loved her, and she said she loved him too.

Victoria and Ashland were at home, but they planned to leave for NY soon. She asked how he was feeling. He felt better because he’d made an appointment with a specialist in NY. She was so glad he was still planning to fight the illness. He’d be grateful for any extra time with her and Harrison, but he didn’t want her to get hopes up because the odds weren’t good. She stubbornly believed he’d beat them. He found her stubbornness attractive. She knew there were no guarantees, but she was ready to be there every step of the way.

Victoria spoke with her kids by phone and promised to bring them something back from NY. Afterward, she asked him if he wanted to talk to Harrison about his health before they went to NY. He didn’t want to deal with Tara; she’d been so unreasonable, and he didn’t want the aggravation. She said not to let his frustration with Tara keep him from his son. He doubted she’d let him talk to Harrison alone. Victoria asked why it was so important to Ashland to talk to Harrison alone. He said Harrison picked up on the tension between him and Tara, and he heard Harrison had nightmares after what happened in the park. Ashland wasn’t sure what Harrison would remember about him when he grew up. Maybe Harrison wouldn’t remember him at all, but if he did remember this talk, Ashland wanted it to be calm, comforting and reassuring, and he wanted it to be between the two of them. He was worried Tara would make it about her. Victoria didn’t know Tara, but as a mother, if Billy had something unsettling to tell the kids, she’d want to be there. She probably wouldn’t say much, but she’d want to show the kids her support. He decided to consider her perspective.

Ashland felt that Tara was using their son to punish him. Victoria suggested that Ashland could use his world-class negotiation skills to find a solution that was good for Harrison. He asked how she was so good at getting through to him. She said she respected him enough to tell him the unvarnished truth. He said there was far too much varnish in his marriage. He wished he’d met her years ago. She’d had the same thought, but maybe the younger versions of themselves wouldn’t hit it off. He was sure he’d always have fallen head over heels for her. He thought this was something he should’ve said a lot sooner. He admitted all he’d said about not wanting things to go too far weren’t about protecting her, it was about protecting himself. At first, he didn’t want to be reminded about what he’d miss out on, but none of that seemed to matter now. She said it meant they had to take advantage of every moment they had together.

Ashland went over to the Abbott house and let Tara know about his trip. Kyle asked if it was about the merger, and Ashland said something like that. He wanted to say goodbye to Harrison. Tara thought that would be fine as long as he didn’t mention the diagnosis. Ashland wanted to have that discussion now. Privately. Kyle told Tara to call if she needed him, then he left. Tara noticed Ashland had cooled off. After some reflection and a discussion with Victoria, he saw things from a mother’s perspective. He wanted to be the one to explain things to Harrison, but he didn’t object to her being there. He said he was going to seek treatment. The odds weren’t good, but he wasn’t willing to surrender. She was glad – that would give them some hope, and she thought it would be good for Harrison to hear about that. She went to get their son. Harrison ran to Ashland, who scooped him up. Ashland told Harrison that he’d been feeling yucky. Harrison asked if it was Ashland’s heart. Ashland assured his son that they’d fixed his heart. He said he was hoping the doctors in NY could fix this problem too. Tara added that NY had some of the best doctors in the world. Ashland hoped that after some special medicine, he’d be able to do some things with his favorite little boy. He kissed Harrison’s forehead.

At Crimson Lights, Kyle asked Victoria if she was going to NY, and she said yes. He hoped he didn’t make a mistake leaving Ashland and Tara alone. Things got volatile last time. Victoria was sure Ashland would be fine – he didn’t want to leave until things were on better terms with Tara. Kyle thought Victoria deserved some credit for Ashland’s change in attitude. She said they all wanted what was best for the boy. He said he and Tara just said the same thing. He asked how much Ashland told her about Tara. She said not much, but she knew how hurt he was when he found out Harrison wasn’t his biological son. Kyle said Tara never told him she was pregnant. Victoria commented that Tara was good at keeping secrets, then she apologized and asked if he and Tara were rekindling things. He said no, they were just living in the same house and co-parenting. She told him to be careful, then she left.

Victoria and Ashland met up at the house. She was going to help him with the bags, but he said he could get them. He let her know things went well with Harrison. He thought it was good of Kyle to give them privacy. He said Kyle usually hovered because Tara had him wrapped around her finger. Victoria wasn’t so sure about that.

Sally, who was at home, called Tara and ranted about Phyllis, calling her a bitch. Kyle was in his way into the living room when he overheard Tara say “Sally, you have got to calm down.” Tara didn’t see Kyle, and he went around the corner to eavesdrop. Sally said she was losing Jack, and Tara told her let things calm down. Sally thought it was too late for her and Jack, and given how he was acting, she thought Tara was on thin ice too. Tara felt things were actually going fine for her. She said they both gave the same explanation for the elevator conversation. She felt Sally had handled it as best she could. The call ended, and Tara left the room. Kyle looked troubled.
