Recap by Lori

At the cabin, Liam and Hope talk about Steffy and their decision to have Kelly stay with them to keep her safe from Steffy. Liam’s mad at himself for not seeing the trouble Steffy was in earlier. Finn arrives. Liam invited him over so he could break the news about what’s happening with Steffy. Finn is shocked. He asks how Steffy reacted when Liam found the pills, and Liam tells him that she didn’t deny she was using them. When Liam explains why he had to take Kelly away from Steffy, Finn doesn’t disagree with what he did, but he is concerned that it could be a huge emotional setback – especially considering what happened when the truth came out about Beth – and it could make Steffy feel the need to use even more. Finn asks if anyone’s spoken to Steffy today. Hope and Liam tell him that Ridge stayed with her overnight – Hope muses that she wouldn’t be surprised if Ridge refuses to leave until Steffy’s completely off the meds. They tell him about how Steffy’s personality changed and that she pulled a knife on them. Finn acknowledges that those are signs of someone struggling with addiction. Finn suggests that maybe he can get through to Steffy. Liam thinks they should all come together and try to convince Steffy to get the help she needs. Finn agrees. Liam and Finn decide to go to Steffy’s and show a united front.

Meanwhile, Ridge stayed overnight with Steffy at the cliff house. She wakes up and finds him still there. He didn’t want to leave her alone. When he asks how she’s feeling, she replies that he knows how she feels – Hope and Liam stole her baby. Ridge corrects her – Hope and Liam didn’t steal her baby – they’re taking care of her until Steffy’s able to. Steffy gets defensive. Ridge reassures her that he wasn’t implying she’s a bad mother – she’s an amazing parent when she’s not taking pain medication. He pleads that she’s got to stop, and not for him or even for herself, but for her little girl. Steffy tells him he’s blowing the situation way out of proportion – she’s not some addict – if she was an actual addict, she reasons, all of this would be hidden. Ridge tells her she’s in denial and if she doesn’t admit that there’s a problem, there’s no way to fix it. So, she tells him he’s right – she does have a problem, and he can help her – he can go over to Brooke’s house and bring her daughter home to her because not having her daughter with her is the only problem she has. Ridge empathizes. He gets that she’s been through a lot and that maybe she wants to be able to depend on being able to take a pill to help her get through the day. Steffy’s adamant that she’s not dependent on the pills and she’s not an addict – she accuses Ridge of siding with Liam and Hope. Ridge argues that that no one is siding with anyone – they all love her and are trying to get her better – she needs rehab. Steffy launches into a rage, then grabs her keys and starts heading for the door. She’s going to get daughter and bring her home. But Ridge stops her – she’s not going anywhere until she admits she has a problem and gets help. As their arguing escalates, Liam arrives. Steffy asks if he brought Kelly. He says no – he brought someone else, though. Finn walks in. He tells her that Liam is very concerned and called him, and after what he’s heard, he’s concerned, too. Steffy tries to downplay the situation. She says she needs a little help a bit longer to get her over this hump; she’ll be fine. Finn asks where she got the drugs, but she yells that she doesn’t have to tell him, then she orders all of them to leave. Liam gently tells her he loves her and wouldn’t lie to her – she’s got a big problem, and none of this is her fault – she was hurt in an accident and managing her pain got away from her, and now they’ve got to deal with it. Taking Kelly wasn’t permanent – he wants Kelly back with her as soon as possible – then he urges her to use Kelly as a motivator to get help. Steffy desperately pleads – there is no help; she needs her pills.

Recap by Lori

At Brooke’s house, Steffy is in a drug-induced rage, demanding that Liam and Hope give Kelly back to her. Hope tells Steffy that until she gets the help she needs, Kelly’s staying with her and Liam. Just as Steffy’s about to force her way past Hope, Ridge arrives. Ridge wants to know what’s going on and Steffy pleads with him to help her. Brooke tells him there’s more going on than he realizes. Liam tries describing to Ridge what he walked in on when he found Steffy passed out on the couch. Steffy keeps interrupting and tries to downplay what happened. Liam finally tells Ridge that she’s been abusing pain pills and it’s endangering their daughter. At first, Ridge can’t believe that Steffy’s taking the pills because she told him she wouldn’t – and she wouldn’t lie to him. Liam reveals that he found a whole bottle of pills and Steffy admitted they were hers and she’s been taking them. Liam thought the doctor was the problem, but he doesn’t even know about the pills. Ridge wants to know where she got them, but she won’t say. Ridge begs her to tell him what’s going on. She sobs that no one understands what it’s like for her, then she goes into a tirade about the Logans. Ridge tells her it’s all going to be okay – there’s nothing wrong with her, it’s the pills – he’s going to get her some help. But she doesn’t want his pity. She says she’s done with this and she wants her little girl now – then she pulls out a switchblade. Everyone tries to reason with her to put the knife down. Finally, Ridge gets her to drop it. She tells him she’ll never forgive him or any of them, then she leaves. Ridge follows behind her, telling the rest of them to take care of his granddaughter and he’ll take care of Steffy.

At Forrester Creations, Thomas flashes back to Steffy’s frenzy looking for her keys so she can chase after Liam, whom she claims had just stolen her child. Zoe walks in to get a gown that Ridge had been working on, then says she can come back later. Thomas asks her to stay because there’s something he wants to tell her. He wants to apologize to her – what he did to her was horrible, selfish, and cruel, and she didn’t deserve it – he really did care about her. Zoe is sure that they can keep their relationship professional and thinks it’s best to just keep everything behind them. Thomas continues – it wasn’t all a scam – he wouldn’t have proposed to her if he didn’t have feelings for her. She tells him he’s apologized enough; she appreciates his honesty and remorse – but before she can say any more, he starts talking about Steffy and sharing what she’s been going through. Zoe observes that if Liam took Steffy’s daughter away it had to be for some good reason. Thomas admits that Steffy was out of control and he’s trying to figure out why, so he told his father, who went to Liam and Hope’s to see what he could find out. Zoe empathizes with Thomas and assures him that everything will work out.

Zoe: Thomas, you’ve apologized enough to me.
Thomas: Doesn’t feel like enough.
Zoe: Good.

Steffy: I could have died. No, you don’t understand! You don’t understand what it’s like! None of you do! [ Sobs ] I’m going through hell! I can barely work! And I’m alone! I don’t have my daughter. I don’t have Liam. I wanted a life with him, but you took him from me! [motions to Hope] You took him from me, just like Brooke took you [motions to Ridge], took you from me and Phoebe and Thomas, but that’s what the Logans do! Hello! It’s what they do! They just take and take and take! God! She destroyed your relationship with Mom, and now Hope destroyed my relationship with Liam! Now you take Phoebe away from me. Now you want to take Kelly? Thomas: And his mom. You throw a pretty wicked curveball, by the way. Yeah, we just, uh– we’re gonna put him straight into baseball. He’s gonna rise up the ranks, you know, maybe MVP, then go into pros. Who knows if we’re gonna do college first? We gotta make a decision on that. Now I’m just talking to myself. Sorry. Hope: Look, I’m secure in my relationship with Liam– our bond, our marriage. We’re–we’re in a good place. I’m more so worried about Steffy. I mean, if anyone deserves a freaking break, it’s her. And you know what? This handsome doctor might be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Thomas: I see what you did there.
Hope: Mm-hmm. Comedy gold in this one right here.
Thomas: You should go on tour. That was good.
—————————————————————————–
Thomas: Look, Steffy… has gone through so much as it is. I mean, she had her child, the one that she thought was hers, taken away from her and given to her actual mother, which was you. And then Liam’s gone. And she’s there in her house alone. Okay? And she’s trying to pretend like it doesn’t matter. It’s—it’s just burying herself in work and trying to follow Kelly around and acting like an emotional life doesn’t matter. And then to top all that off, Bill, with his ridiculous spray tan, comes along, and hits her while she’s on her motorcycle. And so, on top of the emotional pain that she’s dealing with, now she’s got this immense physical pain.

9/30/20 (We.)(10:00 PM) SUSPICION (Special Wednesday Edition) – A TALENTED YOUNG HIP-HOP PRODUCER HAS A DARK PREMONITION, AND HOURS LATER HE IS GUNNED DOWN IN FRONT OF A MUSIC STUDIO IN LOS ANGELES – AFTER 11 YEARS, POLICE AND HIS FAMILY SAY THEY’RE CLOSE TO SOLVING THE MYSTERY
“48 Hours Suspicion” Investigates in “The Ambush of Kevin Harris”
Upcoming hip-hop artist and producer Kevin Robert Harris II was just 21 when he was gunned down outside of a music studio in Los Angeles on Sept. 20, 2009. The case remains unsolved.
CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY co-host Michelle Miller and 48 HOURS SUSPICION investigate the death of Harris and his family’s search for answers in “The Ambush of Kevin Harris” to be broadcast Wednesday, Sept. 30 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The morning of his death, Kevin Harris had a frightening premonition.
His mother Katheryn Harris tells 48 HOURS SUSPICION that she sensed something was wrong with her son, so she asked him. “He said, ‘Everything’s just happening so fast. I feel like something’s going to happen.’ I said, ‘Don’t think like that.’”
By all accounts, Kevin Harris was about to make it. He’d just sold a beat to hip-hop legend Ice Cube, and he had finished a song and music video that were about to become a local radio hit. His father says he heard Britney Spears and Rihanna were interested in some of his music. Harris’ parents say he was devoted to his craft and his family. And then one summer night in 2009 he was gone, shot dead.
The motive for his shooting is a mystery. Was he killed in a case of mistaken identity? Did he get mixed up with the wrong people? Did he unknowingly offend someone? Was he set up? One thing is certain is that witnesses have been hard to find.
“When these situations occur, they’re like, ‘I’m not dealing with the law enforcement,’” says Rahman Dukes, a music industry executive and digital music pioneer. “‘They weren’t here to help us. Why are we going to help them?’ I have seen people step forward, but the majority of the time that doesn’t happen.”
After years of no progress, local authorities turned to the FBI for support. New detectives on the case along with Harris’ family are determined to find his killer. They now suspect a jealous rival, an aspiring rapper, may be connected with the murder, and they have narrowed the list of suspects. They feel they are very close but need information.
“We really need help from the public,” says FBI Special Agent Sean Sterle. “Anybody who knows anything about this case and what happened to him and what happened that night to come forward…and that’s what our plea is to the public.”
Both detectives and his family remain convinced the mystery of Harris’ murder will be solved.
“The clues are absolutely out there, we just need that one piece, that one smoking gun,” says Kevin Harris, Sr., the artist’s father.
48 HOURS SUSPICION: “The Ambush of Kevin Harris” is produced by Chuck Stevenson and Lauren A. White. Michelle Fanucci is the development producer. Phil Tangel, Greg Kaplan and George Baluzy are the editors. Gail Zimmerman and Patti Aronofsky are the senior producers. Nancy Kramer is the executive story editor. Judy Tygard is the executive producer. Preview

For six months, their mother, Lori Vallow, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refused to say where the kids were. Then, last June, police found their bodies buried in Daybell’s backyard.
“I just always had that hope that they were alive, and so when I heard the news, I was just, like, so dumbfounded because … I just completely believed they were alive,” says Vaisia Itaaehau, one of Tylee’s best friends.
In the hour, 48 HOURS details the investigation, the life of Lori Vallow and what is ahead in the case against Vallow and Daybell, on charges of conspiring to destroy, alter or conceal evidence. 48 HOURS: “The Final Days of JJ and Tylee” is produced by Liza Finley and Richard Fetzer. Cindy Cesare and Alyssa Estrada are the lead development producers. Michael McHugh, Diana Modica and Jack Pyle are the editors. Patti Aronofsky is the senior producer. Nancy Kramer is the executive story editor. Judy Tygard is the executive producer.

Primetime TV Review: “Filthy Rich”

TV Review!

“Filthy Rich” Review by Eva 9/25/2020

Filthy Rich is a campy, silly, nighttime soap opera set in New Orleans that is centered around the Monreaux family. Eugene and Margaret Monreaux (Gerald McRaney and Kim Cattrall) are the head of a family that own a Christian television network. Eugene is presumed dead in a plane crash, and his wife Margaret discovers he has fathered three children who are now grown and are heirs to their father’s money. Filthy Rich, like many other shows have done in the past, ridicules Christians, in my opinion. They neglect to mention that Christians are people who are not perfect, but since they believe in God, they try their best to follow what the Bible teaches them. This show does show the sins of the Monreaux family, but I wish they would show them trying their best to follow what the Bible teaches them.

This show, in my opinion, perpetuates the myth that Christians are supposed to be perfect people, something that people who don’t believe in God think but is not true at all. Filthy Rich does do a good job of portraying some televangelists, but what makes me sad is that they make fun of the concept of prayer by using it as the way that the audience finds out what happened in the previous episode. I also did not like that they used scripture to insult each other when they don’t put them in context at all. If I were writing the show, I would respect the practice of prayer and reading the Bible so the audience could see that all people have faults because all humans do, but Christians try their best to live their lives like the Bible teaches them to do.

I do, however, have to give this show a 3 out of 5 stars for those who like to watch escapist television that only shows one side of its subject and not the other side of the coin.

Recap by Lori

At Brooke’s house, Steffy is demanding that Liam and Hope give Kelly back to her. Hope offers Steffy to spend the night with them, where they can all be together, and Brooke offers her a room at her house if there’s not enough room at the cabin. Steffy says she’ll be staying at her house tonight and so will her daughter. Liam tells her Kelly will go home with her when Steffy’s ready, but not now. Steffy accuses Hope of being on a mission to take her daughter away from her. Steffy freaks out when she realizes Kelly isn’t in the house, and then Hope gets a message from Donna letting her know they’ve returned from getting ice cream, which momentarily calms her down. Liam and Hope try to reassure Steffy that they’re not trying to take Kelly away from her, they just want to give her time to recover and kick the pain medication. Liam suggests that they all go down to the cabin and have a nice visit. This upsets Steffy because she thinks he’s treating it like a court-ordered supervised visit. They all try to reason with her, but she starts lashing out at them, exclaiming that she’s not an addict. Liam tells her he’s doing his job as Kelly’s father protecting her, and he’s going to continue doing that, and Kelly’s going to stay with him and Hope until Steffy has gotten the help that she needs to get off of the pain pills. Steffy sobs, how can she be expected to get better without being able to be with her daughter? Brooke is empathetic and tries relating that she knows how scary it is to realize she has a problem, but Steffy is dismissive, telling Brooke that just because Brooke’s got a problem with alcohol not to go inventing addictions for everyone else. Liam tries to get Steffy to realize she has a serious problem by pointing out what could have happened if he wouldn’t have been there to wake her and Kelly needed her. At first, it appears that Liam hit a nerve, but then Steffy reacts by blasting them all, saying it’s always been about the Logans taking from the Forresters, and then she goes on a tirade about Hope taking “Phoebe” away from her, and then manipulating Douglas into forgetting all about his mother, and then she accuses Hope of attempting to replace Thomas – she’s got Liam and two beautiful children – it’s just like when Brooke took her father away from her mother. She cries that she wishes her mother were there. Brooke says she does too because they could use all the help they can get with her. Steffy goes to get Kelly but Hope blocks the door. Hope recalls how Steffy had taken such wonderful care of Beth before and now she’s going to return the favor; Kelly will stay with them until Steffy gets the help she needs.

At the cliff house, Ridge has rushed over to meet with Thomas who explains that Steffy is on her way to Liam and Hope’s. Thomas says he’s not sure what’s going on, he just knows that Steffy’s not acting like herself and she said Liam was making accusations against her and that he kidnapped Kelly. Ridge wonders if it’s just a big misunderstanding because, they both agree, that that doesn’t sound like something Liam would do. Thomas said Steffy was panicked and acting paranoid, like she was in pain, and he recalls the scene he witnessed when he arrived. He’s concerned that if she goes to Liam and Hope like that, it’s going to get worse. Ridge wants to help Steffy, but he doesn’t know what to do. He calls Brooke and leaves her a message saying he knows Steffy’s on her way over and he’s worried about her. After waiting for a while without a response from Brooke, Ridge decides to go over to her house and check on the situation. He tells Thomas to wait at Steffy’s in case she comes home.

Primetime TV Review: ” I Can See Your Voice”

TV Review!

“I Can See Your Voice Review by Eva 9/24/2020

I Can See Your Voice is a new singing competition that is unusual because a contestant wins $ 10,000.00 every time he eliminates a bad singer without ever hearing their voice.

I know what you’re thinking…how do they do this? Well, they do it through various lip sync battles, in which the good singers lip sync to their own voice while the bad singers lip sync to the voice of another person that can sing. The contestant can also look inside of one of the singers phones for clues.  If the person is a good singer but the singer’s voice is distorted, so the contestant never hears the singers voice. The contestant can also interview a singer and ask questions, but the singer’s voice is distorted so the contestant doesn’t hear their real voice. The contestant has help from Cheryl Hines, Adrianna Houghton and three different guest judges each episode.

In the first episode, the guests judges were Nick Lachey, Kelly Osborne and Arsenio Hall . The judges or detectives help the contestant eliminate the bad singers. One singer is eliminated each round, and when they are eliminated, the contestant and detectives get to hear their real singing voice. If the singer is bad the contestant gets $ 10,000.00 put in their bank. If the singer is good, the contestant doesn’t get any money. Once the game ends, host Ken Jeong gives the contestant the choice of keeping the money in their bank or risking all the money they earned to win $ 100,000.00 – If the singer that remains can sing well. If the contestant chooses to risk the money in their bank, and the last remaining singer is good, then they win $ 100,000.00.

I like this show. The best part of it is finding out at the end of each round if the singers sing well or sings badly because you are rooting for the contestant to win the money. The show is also fun because you can’t help but sing along with the songs the singers are lip-syncing to, even if you’re like me and can’t sing well at all. I give this show a 5 out of 5 stars.
