Phyllis: Hey, guys.

Summer: Hey, mom.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. So, it’s time to clock out, isn’t it? How about we go out to dinner?

Kyle: Yeah, we were just going to grab some quick on the way home.

Phyllis: Oh, all right. Well, why don’t we grab something quick together? We don’t spend a lot of time together. Want to spend some quality time with your mother-in-law? I mean, nothing is more important than family, right?

****************************

Nick: Yeah, well, he is who he is, right? How about you? Are you, uh, having a nice, quiet dinner over there tonight?

Summer: Uh, yeah. Sure, let’s — let’s go with that. Do you want to join me?

Nick: Ooh, I really don’t. No.

Summer: Come on.

Nick: Summer, I love you more than anything in this world. But honestly, that looks like it’s going to be filled with more family drama, and I’ve had my fill for today.

Summer: I could really use a buffer, and I’m pretty sure that falls under the list of fatherly duties.

Nick: Oh, come on. Are you pulling the dad card?

Summer: It’s what daughters do.

Nick: I’m such a sucker when it comes to you. Okay, fine, let’s go.

Summer: Come on.

Nick: All right, the party is here.

Phyllis: Yes, it is.

Nick: What are we talking about?

Phyllis: Um, Marchetti.

Nick: Yeah. How is Marchetti? Are mother and daughter at each other’s throats yet?

Kyle: Quite the opposite.

Nick: Don’t know if I believe that. You two tend to have creative differences.

Phyllis: Well, look at you coming in hot. Okay, that’s a really unfair characterization of me and my daughter.

Nick: I’m not saying it’s your whole relationship. Just when you’re working together, because you’re both very strong-willed, fiery women.

Phyllis: Yes, we are both strong women who get things done.

Summer: That’s right.

Phyllis: Right?

Tucker: All right, what’ll you have?

Ashley: I would love a hot chocolate.

Tucker: You sure you don’t want some fancy coffee drink with foam and extra shots and scalded this and that?

Ashley: Tucker, I’m a very simple girl. Okay. [Chuckles] Don’t buy it, huh? How about some cinnamon on top?

Tucker: Of what? Oh, the hot chocolate?

Ashley: Yes.

Tucker: Okay. Uh, hi, sir. Uh, two hot chocolates. With cinnamon. Keep the change.

Ashley: Thank you.

Tucker: Thank you. Thanks for hanging out. It was a lovely day.

Ashley: Yeah. Brr. I’m still kind of shocked, though, that a man like you who loves his creature comforts actually wanted to surprise me with a picnic in the wintertime, no less.

Tucker: Yeah, I loved the look on your face when we got there.

Ashley: Well, it was magical.

Tucker: Oh, glad I can still dazzle you once in a while.

Ashley: Yeah. I mean, as far as picnics go, I will always remember it. A lovely and sweet moment in nature capped off by an offer to fund my very own empire. Please, would you stop being so coy and just tell me what you’re after? Because I’m dying to know.

********************†********

Tucker: Just wanted to spend some time with you alone in a beautiful setting, and I would gladly help you build your own business separate from Jabot. Kind of the way you did when you decamped to Paris years ago.

Ashley: Mm. You heard about that?

Tucker: Mm-hmm. I was impressed by it. And with no one to stop you, you were really on the verge of great things. I was disappointed when you closed up shop and merged with Jabot.

Ashley: That’s why you came, right? That’s why you’re here? You don’t really want Jabot, but you just want to convince me to leave Jabot? Or is it maybe a misguided attempt to protect me before you decide to pounce on my family’s business?

Tucker: Boy, you know what’d be nice? If, for once, you just took me at my word. But… I guess I knew that earning your trust was going to take time and patience

Adam: How, uh — how did your lunch go with Nick?

Sally: It was terrific. Thank you for asking. We grabbed a bite, Nick went back to the office, and I stayed here, where it’s quiet, to work on my new business concept.

Adam: So, everything’s good then?

Sally: What is with all the questions? Yes, I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m making exploratory calls. I’m percolating ideas. I’m — I’m — I’m setting my life on a fresh trajectory, you know? Or trying to, anyway.

[Sighs] Oh, my god. Who am I kidding? No. No. No. I’m not fine, okay? I’m the opposite of fine.

Adam: I’m not sure what brought on that little outburst, but I’m sure that I deserve it, whatever the cause.

Sally: “Whatever the cause”? You, Adam. You are the cause. I mean, after that ridiculous profession of love? Do you recognize how embarrassed I was? After all of the rotten things that you’ve done, that was the capper. I mean, as if you haven’t tortured me enough.

Adam: Torture, Sally? Come on. That’s a bit strong.

Sally: Mm. On the contrary. I think it’s actually not strong enough. First getting me to fall for you, then pushing me away, and then lying to me about all of it, and now this?

****************************

Diane: [Sighs] I have told Jack and Kyle everything about my relationship with Jeremy. They know exactly what kind of man he is, and yet they have promised to protect me if it comes to that.

Tucker: Then they’re both fools.

Diane: Oh, really? So, what does that make you, hiding behind Ashley and the ladies?

Tucker: Is that what you think I’m doing?

Diane: Uh-huh. You fed them information about my past mistakes. You painted me in the worst possible light. And now you’re letting them do your dirty work, threatening to sic Jeremy on me, hoping to chase me out of town, all because I didn’t give you what you wanted. I couldn’t give it to you. Tucker, I never had access to any of the financial information about Jabot that you were after.

Tucker: You are a very resourceful woman. You could have found a way if you really wanted to.

Diane: You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Tucker: Ah. I know this much — you lied to me. And you told me what you thought I wanted to hear, but you never really had any intention of fulfilling your end of the deal, did you? So [Clicks tongue] Consequences.

Diane: [Chuckles] You are like a really rich toddler throwing a tantrum. But I’m not giving in.

Tucker: Yeah, so you keep insisting.

Diane: I am stronger than you think. And besides that, I finally have what I wanted for so long. My son is in my life. Not to mention I have a place in my grandson’s life. So don’t get your hopes up — or Ashley’s — because I’m not going to run.

Phyllis: I mean, what is this? What has happened to us? My own daughter doesn’t believe me. For the last time, this is not my responsibility. This is what Diane did. I didn’t do it. Nikki didn’t do it. Ashley didn’t do it. No one did it but Diane.

Summer: Diane wouldn’t even be on Stark’s radar right now if it wasn’t for you.

Phyllis: And Stark wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for Diane. And what she did in Los Angeles when she was lying to everybody, pretending she was dead — come on. This is her responsibility. She takes no accountability. And now she’s paying the price.

Summer: Yes, but everyone has a past, present company included. So, by your logic, does nobody deserve a second chance? Where would that leave either of us, hmm?

Phyllis: Okay. Where is this coming from? This is not how you feel about me, Summer. You’re just taking Jack’s lead, when he was rattling off my past history and using it against me.

Summer: Actually, I have defended you to Jack so many times, earlier today included, but you make that really difficult.

Phyllis: You could say what you want, go ahead and claim what you want, but you haven’t trusted Diane from the minute she arrived in town.

********************************

Nikki: When Sally was still in Los Angeles, she told everybody she was dying so she could manipulate them, just like Ashland.

Nick: We have all done things in our life we are not proud of. But I know Sally is not the same person she was in L.A. She’s worked very hard to make some changes in her life. And unlike Ashland, Sally has learned from her mistakes, and she’s determined to do things the right way.

Nikki: She tried to ruin Summer’s life. Summer and Kyle almost didn’t find their way back to each other because of what Sally did.

Nick: But they did. And that trip to Milan turned out to be one of the best things to ever happen to Summer’s life. Now, as Summer’s father, obviously I don’t condone what Sally did to her. But I can see both sides, and I’ve made peace with it.

Nikki: I am so disappointed to hear you say that.

Nick: Well, mom, I’m sorry you and dad don’t agree with this, but whoever I choose to spend my time with is nobody’s business but my own.

Nikki: And I understand that. But aren’t you the least bit concerned about this might affect your relationship with Summer?

Nick: No, because Summer loves me and eventually she’s gonna see that I’m happy and that’s gonna be the only thing that matters to her.

I mean, I always think everyone’s nice, and then I look at my list and think about it. I am surrounded by some extremely naughty people.

Daniel: What do you mean?

Billy: Well, ever since this place opened, around this time of the day, it’s usually a ghost town. So, I come here to…you know, get a little space.

Daniel: You know, most people would go to libraries for that kind of quiet.

Billy: They don’t serve scotch at the library.

Daniel: Very true. Beverages were an incentive for me, too.

Billy: Which explains why we’re both here at the same time.

Daniel: I suppose so.

[Chuckles] Oh, come on. What? Look, I’m not the one who’s in love with the guy. I can say whatever I want about him.

Lily: Yeah, clearly.

Connor: Let’s see. Oh, some lichens grow just one millimeter in an entire year.

Sharon: Wow. Well, if that’s the best they can do, yay for the lichens.

Connor: And scientists have found them in the coldest places on earth.

Johnny: And they’re a life-form that’s a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and an algae.

Connor: Hey, Johnny.

Johnny: ‘Sup, Con. It’s freezing out there.

Connor: Want to go see if we can find any lichens?

Chelsea: Well, I’m sure that was very upsetting to hear. These things have a way of just getting out, and people handle things differently. You know, some people are kind and understanding. Some others…

Connor: Are just mean.

Chelsea: Yeah. I’m not going to justify what this little boy said because, who knows, maybe he’s got problems at home. Maybe he’s just a jerk. One thing I do know for certain. He was just trying to make you feel bad. He was just trying to force you, push you to defend your mom. But you never have to do that, not for one second.

Sally: Hi. I’m not sure why you came over here, but I really do not want a replay of our last encounter.

Adam: Oh, it’s not going to happen. I promise. This time I’m completely sober.

Sally: Well, that’s good to know.

Adam: Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Or was it 4th of July that you celebrated? I know you don’t like to celebrate holidays on their actual day.

Sally: Actually, that was our tradition. So, I celebrated in my own traditional way with takeout and an old movie. What about you? Did you break bread with victor at the ranch, or were you nursing your hangover?

Adam: Ouch. I guess I deserve that. I actually had a quiet meal with Chelsea and Connor.

*************************************

Sally: Why are you doing this?

Adam: Because I love you. And you love me, too, Sally. You are the only woman that I have ever met who truly understands me and accepts me for who I am.

Sally: Can you just stop saying that, okay? Because whatever I thought I understood about you turned out to be wrong. I did not fully know you back then. Everyone who has warned me about you was right. Everything they said came true. You’re obsessed with proving yourself to your father, you resent your siblings, and you play games.

Adam: Okay. Maybe that is true. But none of that has anything to do with us.

Sally: It has everything to do with us. You broke my heart. And you’re continuing to break my heart with this Hail Mary proposal. You really think that I want to go into a marriage this way?

Adam: Okay. I screwed up. I should have given you the grand romantic gesture that you deserve, Sally. But I don’t regret asking you because you and I…we have a love of a lifetime. And in your heart, I don’t think you regret me asking you. And don’t tell me you’ve never thought getting married.

Young & The Restless Update

Y&R logo

Update written by Barbara

At the Abbott house, Kyle returns from his time away sooner than expected, with time to help Summer finish decorating the Christmas tree. Jack and Traci talk about hanging the special Abbott ornaments. Jack, Kyle and Summer make sure that Traci continues to have no idea that Diane is hiding in the family cabin. As Traci leaves to go out for drinks with a friend, she says that she has a feeling that everything is going to be alright. After Traci leaves, Summer urges Kyle and Jack to be careful since they’re leaving to deal with Jeremy.

Summer goes to Jabot and is surprised to find her mother there. Phyllis tells her that she is cleaning out the things from her office. They talk back and forth, with Summer saying that she hopes they can move past what has happened and be a family again.

Phyllis mentions how upset she is about how her daughter fired her as an act of solidarity with Diane, and says that she has no intention to get over it anytime in the near future.  Summer remains steadfast that Phyllis being fired was due to her actions, since she encouraged a dangerous man to come to Genoa City in her attempt to get Diane to leave.

Kyle and Jack arrive at Jeremy’s hotel suite and Kyle knocks on the door. Jeremy gestures for them to come in.  He lets them know that he heard that Diane left Genoa City again and says what a shame he thinks it is. Kyle tries to get at Jeremy but Jack stops him.

He and Kyle stick to their story that Diane left town with nary a word, and has gone who knows where. Jeremy suggests that perhaps they’ve got Diane stashed until he leaves, but Jack steers Jeremy the conversation to money. He urges Jeremy to accept his offer because it’s the closest he’ll get to reimbursement. Jeremy says he won’t make any promises.

Ashley and Tucker are at Crimson Lights where she continues to be leery of Tucker’s motives behind him wanting her to build a new empire. Tucker tells her that he’s only interested in her happiness and thinks she could be a huge success at it.

She asks Tucker why she would need him then and he admits that she wouldn’t, although he thinks they could be good together. Ashley decides to head home but not before thanking Tucker for picnic earlier.

Jack and Kyle return to the Abbott house and tell Summer about having made an offer to Jeremy. Jack says that now they have to wait because Jeremy was open to considering it.

Ashley comes in the front door, and much to the relief of Jack, Kyle and Summer, who are quiet, Ashley says that she’s going upstairs to take a bath.

Once she has left the room, Kyle says that he hates the idea of Diane feeling abandoned on Christmas and that he wants to quietly go back to the cabin. Summer is taken aback that he would do that on Christmas eve at the Abbott house. Kyle tells her and Jack that they didn’t see the tears in his mother’s eyes when he said good bye to her.

At Chelsea’s apartment, she and Billy have movie night, munching on popcorn and watching  “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  She says that although a few scenes will be a challenge for her to see, the overall story is filled with hope about someone realizing the value of life.

There’s a knock on the door and it’s Adam, showing up with gifts for Chelsea and Connor. He hesitates when he sees Billy sitting on the couch. Billy says that he was just going to head out. Once he’s gone, Adam tells Chelsea that he assumes she is not up for the big Newman family gathering. She surprises him by saying that she wants to go and tells him that after talking with Sharon, she wants start trying to live a normal life again.

Phyllis goes to the coffeehouse and slumps to put her head down on the counter. Tucker sees her and remarks that it looks like someone’s having “a hell of a day.” Phyllis tells him that she didn’t ask him and he goes on to suggest that she stop fighting the world so hard because it tends to make you feel better.

Over at Society, Devon and Lily tell Daniel that they are greenlighting his gaming endeavor with Hamilton-Winters. However, Devon is a bit concerned because Daniel doesn’t have his creative team together yet and it takes time with huge undertakings.

Daniel says he wants to announce the gaming platform in March, but Devon thinks this three month timetable is unrealistic.  Daniel questions him, which results in Lily suggesting that they table the discussion for now.

When Daniel realizes Phyllis is available to be hired, he presses her to join his new gaming platform. He says that since Phyllis is a gamer and a high level hacker, he thinks she’s a good fit for his platform. He tells her that he wants her to join him in solidifying his platform he is going to have with Chancellor-Winters.

Downstairs at the coffeehouse, Billy is waiting for Lily. When she gets there, they speak uncomfortably. When Lily mentions the idea of couples counseling, Billy says that she must think he’s going off the rails. Lily tells him this is not the case, rather, she doesn’t think they can handle what’s going on between them on their own. Billy is amenable and says that he will set something up with couples counseling after the holidays. They hold hands across the table.

Back in Jeremy’s hotel suite, he is on the phone with someone about having unfinished business in Genoa City and mentions that he has some “stuff” to take care of on his own.

Ashley and Tucker have hot chocolate at Crimson Lights and Tucker continues trying to persuade Ashley to leave Jabot and let him help her start her own company. Young & The Restless Update

Y&R logo

Update written by Barbara

Fresh off their heated conversation at Jabot, Phyllis follows Summer to Society where Summer is picking up a to-go order and relentlessly asks her whether she’s going be fired from Marchetti.

Phyllis continues to blame Diane over and over again for the chaos with Jeremy, causing Summer to call her mother out for taking no accountability in the situation.

Summer tells Phyllis that she already discussed the Marchetti issue with Kyle and they have decided to terminate Phyllis’s employment there, effective immediately.

Phyllis looks aghast and can hardly believe what she is hearing. Summer tells her that she hopes she at least learns something, takes her to-go bag and leaves.

All the while, Adam is at the bar and has been listening to the loud conversation between Phyllis and Summer. He sends a drink over to Phyllis.

Lauren and Michael come into Society arm-in-arm and Phyllis lays blame on them too. Michael quickly reminds Phyllis that he had told her if she went after Diane, it could backfire.

At the coffeehouse building, Chelsea comes down from her apartment. Sharon greets her and asks why she didn’t join Connor to watch him play soccer in the park.

Chelsea tells Sharon that it feels strange and uncomfortable venturing beyond her apartment and the coffeehouse. Sharon gently encourages Chelsea to take a step or two outisde her comfort zone.

Victoria walks in and Chelsea tells her that she would like a chance to make amends. At first, Victoria declines, saying that she is having a car take her to the airport for a business trip. She has a change of heart, however, and lets Chelsea know that she has a little time to spare before her trip and the two women go upstairs to Chelsea’s apartment.

Chelsea apologizes for trying to destroy Victoria’s marriage when she first came to town and for being too pushy about Johnny finding out about his bio mom.

Victoria expresses reservations about Chelsea’s intentions, but Chelsea says that her focus is entirely on getting better.

At Newman Enterprises, Nikki and Nick are talking business and she tells him that she wants him to lead meetings while Victoria is away.  She tells him that she wants him to put forth some leadership skills.

Nikki expresses her enjoyment of watching her children shine in the ways she knows they can, with the exception of Nick’s personal life, clearly meaning his relationship with Sally. Nick gets a little impatient with Nikki’s concern about it, but Nikki continues, emphasizing that Sally had faked a terminal illness while in LA. She also asks Nick if he really wants to bring another Ashland Locke into the family.

Nick counters that Sally is nothing like Ashland. He says that unlike Ashland, Sally has learned from her mistakes. He adds that he is not worried about any issues with Summer due to what Sally did to her because he’s sure that Summer wants her father to be happy.

At that moment, Sally comes into the office at Newman and speaks with Nick in a flirting manner after Nikki leaves. She hands him her tablet and asks him to look at the new numbers for her business plan.

With a gleam in his eyes, Nick tells her that he likes what like what sees and starts spouting off information in business language. At one point, he and Sally get close and he says he likes spending time with her, working with her, laughing. The spark between them is palpable and he requests that Sally find time in her busy schedule to fit him in so they can go to dinner sometime. She tells him that the idea of planning dates and taking things slow is new to her because it was the opposite with Adam.

She and Nick lean in to kiss, but she pulls back and says that she has to go pick up a takeout order at Society. As she leaves, she tells Nick that she will pencil him in.

Allie and Noah come into the coffehouse and she excuses herself to go to the patio to take a phone call. Sharon goes over to Noah and tells him that Audra was there earlier looking for him. Allie finishes her phone call and as she’s about to go back into the coffeehouse she overhears this.

When she’s alone with Noah, Allie presses him about what’s going on with him and Audra. Reluctantly, he tells her that Audra came looking for him at the club and in an attempt to lure him back, she kissed him.

He tells Allie that he pulled away from her, with no hesitation, but Allie persists. She asks Noah if he kissed Audra back, even a little bit. He becomes uneasy and says that it happened so fast he can’t be sure.  Allie asks him to tell her if she needs to be worried.

At Society, Sally bumps into Adam at the bar and lets him know that she’s not afraid of running into him. She tells him that she thinks their relationship has had a natural resolution and Adam says he’s glad she feels that way.

Sally tells Adam about her business plan for starting an interior design company with Chloe and how she would like to partner with Chancellor-Winters to design for their offices, hotels

Adam wishes Sally success in her undertaking and adds that he hopes Nick brings her the happiness she deserves. She lets him know for sure that she and Nick are officially seeing each other and taking things slow.

Afterward, Sally goes over to Phyllis, Lauren and Michael, bragging to Phyllis about how she and Chloe are launching an interior design business and they will probably be going head-to-head with Marchetti Home and will be their biggest competitor.

Adam looks over from his seat at the bar, intrigued, while and Lauren and Michael head for the bar. Michael comments about ordering a bottle of scotch with two straws. Phyllis is left standing alone, lamenting that “everyone’s lost their damn mind”.

[ Door opens, closes ]

Summer: [ Gasps ] You’re back.

Kyle: I am. And I missed you like crazy. Mm. Tree looks phenomenal.

Summer: Mm, thank you. All we have left are your special abbott-family ornaments. I am so glad that you got back home early. We didn’t want to finish decorating without you.

Ashley: Yeah. Brr! Wow.

Tucker: Alright, what’ll you have?

Ashley: I would love a hot chocolate.

Tucker: You sure you don’t want some fancy coffee drink with foam and extra shots and scalded this and that?

Ashley: Tucker, I’m a very simple girl. Okay. [ Chuckles ] Don’t buy it, huh?

[ Can opens ]

Billy: Aww, yes. My favorite — popcorn. You remembered.

Chelsea: And you brought my favorite seltzer.

Billy: That’s right. You know, connor picked the wrong night to go help the newmans decorate their tree. Thank you.

Chelsea: Yeah, I’m sure victor and nikki are thrilled to have so many grandchildren around them, but connor’s going to be bummed. He loves movie night.

Billy: Alright, well, we’ll wrangle him next time. So what are we watching?

Chelsea: I have it all cued up. A holiday classic.

Billy: “It’s a wonderful life.” Huh.

Chelsea: Yeah. Why? You don’t like it?

Billy: No, I mean, I like it, of course. Who doesn’t like this movie? It’s just, you know, with everything that you’ve been going through, it’s, uh…

Chelsea: I considered that. Regarding the darker scenes, I mean, I lived it. I’m working through it. I think I can handle a movie about it.

Billy: Okay.

Lily: So, devon and I ran the numbers, did some analysis of our own, and we came to realize this is going to be a very profitable long-term venture.

Daniel: Does that mean what I think it means?

Devon: It means that you can consider yourself hired because we are giving the green light to project omega-sphere.

Lily: Congratulations, and welcome to the team.

Devon: Yes, sir.

Daniel: Thank you.

Devon: Yeah, man.

Daniel: Thank you.

Devon: Of course.

Lily: Yes, of course. Thank you for pitching it to us.

Daniel: [ Sighs ] I can’t believe you guys made your decision so fast.

Devon: Well, when a project this big comes to your door, you got to give it all your attention.

Lily: So we’ll have a contract for you in the next day or two.

Daniel: Great, great. Well, I can’t wait to get started. What’s the next step?

Lily: Well, we’ll work with you on development.

Devon: Do you already have people in mind that you want to hire to help develop the platforming games?

Daniel: Mm-hmm, yeah, I’ve spoken with a few tech guys who sound interested. Now that I know that the project’s a go, I can bring in a primary developer, someone to head up the creative team.

Devon: So you don’t have anybody picked out yet, though?

Daniel: Well, experienced game designers and managers are not going to make a deal on a “maybe.” Until I knew that I had a contract signed and, you know, i know my budget, I was in no position to make any kind of promises to anyone.

Lily: Yeah, no, no, no, no. I think that you’re being very prudent on how you’ve approached people. So take your time. I mean, we want this to be right.

Devon: Yeah, of course. I don’t think you should rush anything. I just figured you ought to be ready to roll.

Daniel: I’m still on track. You know, I’m determined now more than ever to make this dream a reality. I’ll find the team. You don’t have to worry.

Devon: Okay.

Daniel: You’re not already regretting saying yes, are you? With downy infusions,

Kyle: It was the year my mom took me to live in canada. I was sad that I couldn’t be here with dad and the rest of the family. I sent them this ornament so they’d remember me and I could be here in spirit.

Summer: Aww, that’s so sweet.

Traci: [ Gasps ] Well, look who’s home from his trip.

Jack: Kyle.

Kyle: Hey, dad. Traci.

Jack: So, how did the meeting go? Did you get the issue straightened out with the fabric house?

Kyle: Yeah, we had to make some compromises, but, by the end, everyone was comfortable. No problems to speak of.

Jack: Good.

Traci: Oh, the tree is gorgeous, summer. You’ve done a fabulous job decorating.

Summer: Oh, thank you. We just have to put up all of your special abbott-family ornaments before we can declare it completely finished.

Traci: Well, I love going through the ornaments every year.

Jack: It’s a wonderful tradition. So full of memories.

Traci: Kyle, I know that this is going to be an extra difficult year for you, your mother having to leave town because of that man, jeremy stark, and it is just breaking my heart, watching you and summer trying to explain to little harrison where his dee dee went.

Summer: That has been rough.

Kyle: Especially knowing she might never come back.

Summer: Not that we’ve told harrison that.

Jack: We won’T. He needs all the reassurance we can give him.

Traci: Well, it sort of feels like our traditions are more important than ever this year, bringing the joy of the season to that precious little boy any way we can. You know, and it’s something that we all need. That and, I don’t know, a christmas miracle or two.

[ Traci and summer chuckle ]

Kyle: Amen.

Traci: So, I am very excited to go through the box of ornaments.

Summer: But first, who wants some eggnog?

Kyle: Oh. Me.

Jack: Oh, I’m definitely in. Trimming the tree is thirsty work.

Summer: Okay, so four eggnogs? Alright, coming right up.

Traci: You know what? I’ll give you a hand.

Jack: So?

Kyle: We’re going to need more than hope for a christmas miracle to end this threat to my mom.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Billy: [ Chuckles ]

Lily: No, daniel, don’t worry. Devon and I are fully committed to helping you realize your vision.

Devon: Absolutely. Nothing has changed.

Daniel: Good. Good.

Devon: Yeah. And we understand, too, that building an entire gaming division from the ground up is a huge undertaking for the company. So we want to take our time and do things the right way.

Daniel: Well, I mean, given the level of competition out there and the risks inherent with any big launch, I can assure you that is exactly what I’m going to do, down to the last detail. Every aspect of this platform has to be seamlessly connected. If one area is weak, the whole thing falls apart. It’s unacceptable. Our flagship game isn’t just a way to spend time. It’s about giving people a believable and exciting world that’s immersive and meaningful, somewhere they can have fun and, at the same time, tackle some of life’s bigger questions, where they can face their fears, and learn to find inspiration and purpose.

Lily: I think that’s what i love most about it.

Daniel: And, listen, since we’re discussing timetable, i want to make a formal announcement in march. Let the world know what’s in store.

Devon: Which is in three months, man. Don’t you think that’s a little unrealistic? Smooth dark chocolate, refreshing peppermint,

Daniel: I promise you, I can get far enough along to announce by march.

Devon: Well, I don’t know how you figure that when you don’t have a team put together yet. We don’t have to rush anything, either. You just said yourself that if any part of the omega-sphere isn’t operating at the highest level, then the whole experience falls short, right?

Daniel: Mm-hmm, that’s true. But I’m going to be as honest and as transparent as I can with you guys for this entire process. If I think that there’s going to be a problem, I’m not going to hesitate to share it with you, because invested as I am in this project, I’m not going to lose sight of what’s at stake for all of us.

Devon: Well, I’m glad to hear that, but still.

Daniel: I realize that I’ve set an ambitious timeline, but I have identified the elements I need, and, I promise you, it’s all going to come together.

Lily: Look, let’s just leave it here, right, and just know that devon and I give you our full support to get whatever talent you need.

Devon: We do. Just keep us abreast on your progress.

Daniel: Done.

Devon: Thank you very much. On that note, I’m gonna take off. I need to get back to dominic.

Lily: How are things going on that front?

Devon: They’re going well. He’s got two little teeth coming in, so it’s fun times.

Daniel: You have to be excited for christmas. I mean, experiencing that magic through a child’s eyes, there’s nothing quite like it.

Lily: I know, and now that he’s older, he can appreciate it more.

Devon: I know, I know. I can’t wait for him to make some real memories.

Lily: Well, give me a kiss for me.

Devon: I will do that for sure. And, daniel, congratulations again, man. I look forward to us all working together.

Daniel: Oh, thanks, man. Me, too.

Devon: Alright, take it easy.

Lily: Bye. Um, I should get going, too, but I just want to say I’m so happy that you’re back in town and that devon and I can help make your dream come true.

Daniel: Thank you for trusting me to make this happen. I won’t let you down.

Tucker: Both gestures were from the heart — the picnic and the offer to help you realize your potential.

Ashley: I see.

But… I guess I knew that earning your trust was going to take time and patience.

Ashley: And then some.

Tucker: My only interest is you, ashley. Your happiness. I’m simply asking you to expand your idea of what that might look like and imagine a future, a bright future if you were on your own.

Ashley: Okay, settle down. I mean, really, jabot’s in our blood, you know, it’s part of our family. It’s part of me. It’s why I came back from europe.

Tucker: Let jack be the legacy, then. You’re the only abbott with the drive to be a maverick like your father was. And you have so much talent and expertise, I think you should go on your own.

Ashley: Then why do I need you?

Tucker: You don’T.

[ Scoffs, sighs ] Just know that you know how good we are together.

Ashley: Okay, well, I guess it’s time for me to go home. And I do want to thank you because it was a lovely and very surprising day. Thank you.

Jack: Oh, boy. Luan gave me this ornament our first christmas together. You know what? I’m going to give this to allie when she comes home. Tell her the history and invite her to hang it on the tree herself.

Traci: Oh, jack, a surprise from a grandmother she never knew. That’s just magical.

Jack: Despite everything that’s going on, I am determined to make this a magical first christmas for the newest abbotts among us.

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Traci: Summer, are you sure that you brought all of the boxes down from the attic?

Summer: I thought I did. Are we missing something?

Traci: I can’t find my favorite ornament. It’s little silver ice skates. Katherine gave it to me when I was 6, and it was in a box that had a blue label along with the star that goes on the top of the tree.

Summer: Want me to go check?

Traci: Oh, no, no. You know, I think I might know right where it is. I will go get it, and I’ll be right back.

[ Chuckles ]

Jack: So, how did things go at the cabin with your mother?

Kyle: She’s settled in. There’s plenty of food, firewood, and things to keep her occupied.

Jack: Oh, boy, this has got to be especially difficult for diane. She’s hiding from the world yet again.

Kyle: My mother was alone for so long, spent so many holidays by herself, and now she’s missing her first christmas with harrison. I could tell she’s trying to stay strong, but I know it’s crushing her.

Summer: [ Sighs ] I feel like I should apologize again for my mom creating all of this chaos. I mean, she lured this dangerous man to town by claiming that diane turned him into the feds without even knowing that that was true. This man could resort to violence. We have no idea. I still think that we should go to the police.

Jack: Listen, stark has been very careful about not breaking the law since he’s been in town. Getting law enforcement involved, I think it’s a mistake. It would only bring more attention on diane. No, kyle and I have a plan, and we are going to see it through. Did you know some of your detergent’s fragrance

Traci: Well, this tree is magnificent.

Summer: It really is.

Traci: I have set aside some ornaments for ashley and for allie. When they get home, they can hang them.

Kyle: And the star belongs to harrison.

Jack: Absolutely.

Traci: I just can’t wait to see that, him up on your shoulders, putting the star on the tippity-top.

Kyle: That’s one of those moments I’m going to treasure.

Traci: Well, listen, as much fun as this has been, until someone else gets home, I think I’m going to go have some drinks with a friend.

Summer: Oh, how fun.

Traci: Oh, I will. Thank you.

Kyle: Here, let me help you.

Traci: Oh, thanks. And, kyle?

Kyle: Mm-hmm?

Traci: Look, for what it’s worth, diane is absolutely devoted to you and to harrison. And she is a fighter. And she has so much to fight for. So I don’t know how, but I just have this feeling that somehow everything is going to work out alright.

Kyle: I appreciate your optimism and the kind words about my mother.

Traci: Alright. Mwah. See you later. Oh.

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Jack: So I think that’s our cue now.

[ Door closes ]

Kyle: I’ll be back soon.

Summer: Please be careful. That goes for you, too.

Jack: Let’s go.

Both: For auld lang syne, my dear

for auld lang syne

we’ll take a cup of kindness yet

for auld lang syne

Chelsea: Wow, I’m really happy connor’s not here.

Billy: Yeah?

Chelsea: He used to love to make fun of me when I would sing in the car.

Billy: That’s good. You should keep doing that.

Chelsea: Tormenting my child’s eardrums?

Billy: That and singing out loud. It’s good for you.

Chelsea: Okay. I will. You know, the world had sort of faded to gray, and it feels like I’m starting to see color again, little by little.

Billy: Yeah, I snuck a couple little glances at you during the movie just to make sure you were okay.

Chelsea: Yeah, I mean, some scenes were difficult to watch, but, ultimately, it’s a story about someone who comes to realize the true value of their life, what a gift it is, what they mean to other people, something I’m feeling really strongly these days. So to answer your question, yeah, I’m okay.

Summer: Mom, you were fired. What are you doing here?

Phyllis: [ Clears throat ] I’m emptying out my office, summer. If you think I’m going to steal something, have security follow me out.

Summer: [ Sighs ] I’m disappointed that it’s come to this, but it has.

Phyllis: You say that like you had nothing to do with it, that my firing had something to do with a natural disaster or something.

Summer: Well, I didn’t really have much say in your decision to bring diane’s recently paroled ex to genoa city, did I?

Phyllis: Okay, well, that was what I did in my personal time. I mean, is it even legal to get fired for something you do in your personal life?

Summer: First of all, yes, it is. It’s called a morality clause. It’s in pretty much every employment contract. And, secondly, mom, you were repeatedly warned that if the conflict with diane continued, that you would be let go.

Phyllis: Well, we weren’t fighting in the office. In fact, I did my best to avoid her.

Summer: But you were scheming with nikki and ashley all the while to drive her out of town.

Phyllis: Yeah, but we never did that on marchetti property, so I played by your rules.

Summer: I am so sick of arguing about this. I’m really hoping, now that you’re not with marchetti anymore, that maybe eventually we can go back to being a family again.

Phyllis: Are you serious? You fired me as an act of solidarity with diane jenkins. You want me to get over it and just move on?

Jack: [ Exhales sharply ]

Jeremy: Well, look who’s here. So serious. Oh, please, come in. I heard your mom left town again. Oh, what a shame.

Kyle: Hey, don’t look so smug about it.

Jack: Hey, simmer down. That’s not going to help us at all. Did you know if you turn to cold with tide

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Are you feeling sluggish

Kyle: How my mother ever allowed herself to get involved with a guy like you, I will never understand.

Jeremy: I wouldn’t expect you to.

Jack: Look, diane got involved in a lot of things in L.A. We didn’t know about. We certainly didn’t expect to be involved in this.

Kyle: Well, you don’t have to worry about it now. She’s gone. Whatever the truth is about what happened between you, you scared her enough where she ran out on us without as much as a goodbye.

Jack: I told you not to do this. This is taking us farther away from why we’re here.

Jeremy: Which is?

Jack: We just want to talk. Look, ever since you came to town, you have been very careful about not breaking the law. You’re too smart for that. Well, I am smart enough to get the message. You apparently can elude security at your will, and you are determined to settle whatever score you have with diane. Diane is gone to. God knows where.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] How convenient.

Jack: Kyle and I had nothing to do with any of your business dealings with diane. We thought she was dead. There is nothing for you here now.

Jeremy: You wouldn’t happen to have stashed her away somewhere until I leave, would you?

Kyle: Hey, it is almost christmas, and my son is in tears, wondering why his grandmother isn’t there, and I have to figure out a way to explain to him when or even if we will ever see her.

Jack: Clearly, this is affecting my family. I would like to straighten this out now. Look, I offered you money before. You turned me down. Now that diane is out of the picture, we are as close as you are going to get to being reimbursed. So let’s work this out. You can go about your business, and we can get back to our lives in peace.

Jeremy: Hm. No promises. But… I’ll consider it.

Summer: I know that it’s going to take time for you to move on.

Phyllis: You know, you talk about being one big, happy family without any irony in your voice at all. It’s truly fantastic. You know, I sold my hotel so I could work with you.

Summer: But it wasn’t really about working together, and you know it.

Phyllis: All I wanted to do was protect you and support you. That’s all I wanted to do, summer. Yeah, it got messy. But something you should know is your hands get messy when you’re a mom and you’re trying to protect the people you love. And that’s what I was trying to do. And contrary to diane’s belief, no, no, it wasn’t about some petty resentment that I had toward her and her getting close to the abbotts and you and jack.

Summer: Mom, don’t try to pretend that that doesn’t bother you.

Phyllis: It bothers me because she’s trying to peddle some sanitized version of her life in los angeles, and she’s lying and I know she’s lying. I’ll never trust her.

Summer: Okay, well, not everyone despises her as much as you do.

Phyllis: Okay, you know what? You know what? That’s, um… yeah, kyle doesn’t despise her. He wants to believe her lies because it’s his mom, so I get it. But it leaves him susceptible to everything that she’s doing. She is lying, one lie after the other, and I’ve exposed everything, but nobody seems to care. And finally she was caught, and what did she do? Huh? She ran. That’s what she did. But she’s mother of the year, isn’t she?

Summer: I didn’t trust her, either. I defended you. But I’m sorry. I can’t justify you lying about kyle’s mom to a convicted criminal to get him to come after her. You put us all in danger, harrison included. And not only that, but you pitted me against my husband. You hurt me, mom. You betrayed me. Because your sole focus was driving diane away. That is why I fired you. This is on you.

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Chelsea: Well, thanks for spending this time with me.

Billy: No need to thank me. I had a good time.

Chelsea: Yeah, me, too. I think christmas is going to be a lot more meaningful this year, considering everything I’ve been through. Oh, and I have a gift for johnny. I haven’t wrapped it yet, but I will give it to you next time I see you. I know my last one was not a great idea.

Billy: Yeah, the baby blanket.

Chelsea: This one will be better.

[ Chuckles ] And you and victoria, you can decide the appropriate time to give it to him.

Billy: Okay.

Chelsea: And if it’s okay with you guys, I’m hoping the boys, johnny and connor, can spend some time together over the holidays.

Billy: Yeah, we’ll see if we can make that work. You know, I’ll talk to victoria about it.

Chelsea: I apologized to her earlier, the way I apologized to you. Seemed to go well, all things considered.

Billy: Good to know.

[ Knock on door ]

Chelsea: I’m hoping that will make victoria more amenable. You know, the boys have a great bond.

Billy: Mm.

Chelsea: I’m hoping we can encourage it. Hi, I’m angela.

Adam: Hi. I hope this isn’t a bad time. I just brought some gifts for you and for, um, connor. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt.

Billy: It’s okay. Just about to head out. Well [Clears throat] Thank you very much. I had a lovely time. And, of course, I’ll see you soon. Plenty of more classic movies to watch.

Chelsea: I’ll be sure to stock up on the popcorn.

Billy: Let me know if you need anything, okay?

Chelsea: Thanks.

Billy: Okay.

Chelsea: Bye.

Billy: Bye. Hey.

Adam: I’m still waiting on a few things for connor, but I figured I would get these to you.

Chelsea: Aww, that’s nice. I’ll be sure to put these out for him.

Adam: Yeah, whatever works.

Chelsea: Oh, I’m very excited for you to see the gift he’s making for you. That kid is creative.

Adam: Oh, I can’t wait. As long as I’m here, I figured that we could just discuss the holidays. I assume that you want to do something low-key and avoid the big newman family gathering.

Chelsea: Actually, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to go. I just saw sharon earlier, and she convinced me it’s time to face the world, even the difficult parts. I have to start trying to live a normal life again.

Phyllis: [ Exhales sharply ]

Tucker: Looks like someone’s having a hell of a day.

Phyllis: Who asked you?

Tucker: No one. It was a comment, not a reply. And I withdraw. Word to the wise — stop fighting the world so hard. The more at peace you are, the more things go your way.

Phyllis: Thanks for that.

Daniel: Mom.

Phyllis: Hey, baby.

Daniel: Hey.

Phyllis: Hey. Oh, my goodness. I’m so glad I ran into you. I’m so glad.

Daniel: You’re smiling so hard, it looks like it hurts. What’s up?

Phyllis: Yeah. Um, hey, let’s go.

Daniel: Talk to me.

Phyllis: Um, okay, well, uh…

[ Sighs ] I’m not working at marchetti anymore.

Daniel: Whoa, whoa. What? Why?

Phyllis: You know, summer and I, we mutually agreed we just have different visions.

Daniel: Uh-huh. Okay. What’s the real story?

Phyllis: Uh, does it matter? I mean, it’s all good. Anyway, the worst part about it is I did so much work. I created the entire division and someone’s just going to jump in and just make it succeed.

Daniel: So you’re free and clear?

Phyllis: Yeah. Thanks. I mean, that is the positive spin.

Daniel: Then come work with me.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: Hi. You got here fast. Do you want a coffee or tea or something?

Lily: Maybe in a minute. Should we sit?

Billy: Yeah.

Lily: Okay.

Billy: [ Clears throat ]

Lily: How’s chelsea doing?

Billy: She’s good. She’s getting stronger every day.

Lily: Good. Sounds positive.

Billy: Yeah, I think so.

Lily: You seemed a little off when I came in. Did something happen?

Billy: Adam happened. He showed up at chelsea’s door, and he oozes misery. And I just don’t think that that’s good for her right now.

Lily: Well, it kind of seems like you think you’re the only one who knows what’s good for her right now.

Kyle: I couldn’t get a read on stark. Could you?

Jack: Like all good liars, he’s very opaque, though I must say, your performance was very believable.

Kyle: That’s because my hatred for him is real. Question is, did he buy it?

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Summer: Please tell me it’s done.

Jack: We did everything we could. Now we wait.

Ashley: Hi. Kyle, you’re back from your business trip. How was it?

Kyle: Uh, g-good. Productive.

Summer: What do you think about the tree?

Ashley: Wow. Did you do that?

Summer: Most of it.

Ashley: Beautiful. You did a fantastic job.

Summer: Thank you. I enjoyed doing it.

Ashley: Okay, so you all got very quiet when I came in. Anybody want to tell me what’s going on?

Skin your face will envy?

Daniel: It is official, as of today. Chancellor-winters will be launching my new gaming platform.

Phyllis: What?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: This is amazing. Congratulations.

Daniel: Thank you. Yeah, I’m just a little excited.

Phyllis: Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Tell me everything.

Daniel: It’s not, you know, just gaming as most people know it. I mean, this is a complex multiverse, and it doesn’t isolate. It expands. And it deals with people’s, like, hopes and their fears and their dreams.

Phyllis: Wow. That’s very cutting edge.

Daniel: Uh-huh. I know. I got a few coders that I’d like to hire. You know, they can get started on the nitty-gritty. But you know what I need? What I need is a heavy hitter. I need someone senior that can come in, they can build, they can manage the team of designers, all the tech people. I need someone I can trust, someone who can see to the day-to-day stuff while I’m staying focused on the big picture. Someone like you.

Phyllis: I love that, because, you know, your sister doesn’t seem to trust me, so…

Daniel: Well, I don’t agree with her. I see things differently. Look, you are an avid gamer. You’re also a hacker from back in the day.

Phyllis: Shh.

Daniel: You love this world. You know the languages inside and out. I mean, this makes sense. I would love for you to join me on this.

Billy: You know, you almost sounded a little…

Lily: Hostile? I mean, maybe so. I just — I don’t feel like i know at all what’s going on inside your head these days.

Billy: Because you have a problem with how much time I’m spending with chelsea.

Lily: No, billy, like I said, this is not just about chelsea, and this is way too big for us to ignore. So if you want to work on this relationship, if you still care about it —

Billy: Lily, yes, of course i do.

Lily: Well, then I think that we need help. I think that we should go to couple’s counseling.

Billy: Okay, what I hear you saying is that you think I’m heading off the rails again.

Lily: No, no. This is not about you. This is about us. And this is really, really important to me. And I don’t feel confident that we can handle this on our own.

Billy: Okay. Yes, let’s do that. Let’s, um… let’s set something up for after the holidays.

Lily: Thank you.

Jack: The only thing we are up to is trimming the tree and trying to engender some holiday spirit.

Kyle: We left some more amounts for you to hang.

Summer: Yeah, traci has them in this box over here.

Ashley: Oh, well, how sweet. Well, okay, then. I guess it’s been a long day. I’m going to go upstairs and take a bath.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Summer: How did things go with stark?

Jack: He said he would consider my offer.

Kyle: There’s no telling how long he will drag this out for.

Summer: Or if we could even trust him.

Kyle: I’m thinking about going back up to the cabin so my mom doesn’t feel so abandoned tomorrow.

Summer: On christmas eve?

Jack: Wait, kyle, I know you want to do this for diane, but I think that’s risky.

Jeremy: I still have business here genoa city. No, I have some stuff here I need to take care of on my own.

Kyle: I’ll be careful to fly under the radar. Stark won’t have a clue.

Jack: You hope.

Summer: Kyle, I really wish you would reconsider.

Kyle: You didn’t see the tears in my mother’s eyes when i said goodbye to her earlier. I can’t stand the thought of her being up there alone, not on christmas.

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

Next week on “the young and the restless”…

Victor: That’s up to adam, you know? He’s the one who turned his back on us. If he wants to be back in the fold, then let him make the move.

Tessa: Well, we’re meeting with a pregnant woman after new year’s to discuss the possibility of adoption.

Sharon: Wow, really? That’s amazing.

Daniel: Dad?

Danny: Merry christmas, son. [ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: Summer.

Summer, stop. Okay? So, I want to know what you think. Give me an answer. Jack laid down the hammer. He thinks I should be fired. But then you got into the elevator. What do you think?

Summer: I’m here to pick up my take-out and then go back to the office. You really didn’t need to follow me here.

[ Sighs ]

Phyllis: Ugh.

Summer: I don’t want to discuss this in public.

Phyllis: I do.

Summer: I am telling you, mom, this can wait until I get back to the office.

Phyllis: No. I’m sorry. It cannot. So, jack wants me fired, but he’s leaving it up to you and kyle. What do you think? Are you firing me?

Sharon: Where did connor run off to?

Chelsea: Oh, uh, he went to chancellor park to play soccer with a friend.

Sharon: Soccer? Really? In this cold weather?

Chelsea: Oh. Yeah. That boy would play in 10 feet of snow if he could.

Sharon: And why didn’t you go to the park with him? I mean, despite it’s a cold day, but it’s a beautiful day. Wouldn’t it be nice to get out and get some fresh air? Chelsea, what’s going on? Why do you look so uncomfortable?

Chelsea: I’m not uncomfortable. I’m fine. Really. Okay, maybe that’s not truthful. Being out in the world again just feels very strange for me, you know? Even though I wasn’t in that hospital for very long, everything seems new and very, um, intimidating.

Sharon: That’s understandable.

Chelsea: I mean, crimson lights is the only place I feel safe venturing out to because it’s so close to my apartment. I mean, I know that sounds so silly, but it — everything else just feels terrifying.

Sharon: And that’s what made you feel anxious?

Chelsea: [ Inhales deeply ] It’s ridiculous, isn’t it?

Sharon: No, no, not at all. I’m — I’m glad that you feel comfortable and safe up in your apartment and down here in the coffeehouse, but it might be time for you to take a step or two outside of your comfort zone.

Chelsea: I know. You’re right. I mean, I’ve got errands to run, and I keep just pushing them off or asking billy or adam to help me. That’s not fair to them. And it’s not fair to connor that he can’t spend the day at the park with his mom.

Sharon: So, take that step. You can do it.

Chelsea: It just feels like walking out those doors right now would be taking on the entire world. And I’m just not sure I’m ready for that step.

Nikki: So, we have a lot of things we have to take care of while victoria’s out of town. We have some important meetings, and we’re also expecting some proposals.

Nick: Well, the proposals are time-sensitive, so I will work on those. That will expedite the process. Then you can focus on the bigger picture, which is running the business while vick’s gone.

Nikki: Actually, I thought i would handle the proposals and you can take the lead at the meetings.

Nick: Mom, you’re the co-ceo. Why would you want me to run the meetings?

Nikki: Because I think it would be good for the company for you to demonstrate some leadership.

Nick: Huh. You’re not suggesting that I be co-ceo or even ceo of newman, right?

Nikki: Oh, no, not at all. Victoria is doing a wonderful job. Victor and I have no plans to replace your sister or me.

Nick: Alright. That’s good to know.

Nikki: I mean, down the line, I would love to see you take over my position. But right now, I’m happy watching my children step up and shine the way I know they can. With the exception of your personal life.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] Skin your face will envy?

Nikki: Mom, personal lives are personal for a reason. That’s why this topic is not up for discussion.

Nikki: Your father is quite concerned about your involvement with sally.

Nick: Oh, I know. He hasn’t held back at all.

Nikki: Well, it’s about more than just his opinion of her. He’s worried that the tension between you and your brother could be made even worse.

Nick: I’m not gonna waste my life worrying about what adam thinks. If we didn’t have conflict over this, we’d find something else, mom, because that is the nature of our relationship.

Nikki: And I agree that maybe the two of you will never get along. Let’s keep the focus on sally for now. It doesn’t sound like you read the dossier that your father gave to you about her. If you had, you would learn that she faked a terminal illness.

Nick: Yeah, I heard about that.

Nikki: Well, good, ’cause i didn’t want to be the one to break it to you. But now that you know, do you really want to bring another ashland locke into the family?

Sharon: I think it would be a great idea for you to start venturing out. You know? After everything you’ve been through. Just think of how differently you’ll see the world now.

Chelsea: How so?

Sharon: The negative lens that you’ve been seeing through has shifted. Just think how refreshing it will be to see the world in a whole new light — less drab, hostile, hurtful.

Chelsea: That does sound nice.

Sharon: Well, of course not if you’re not ready. You know, it’s also important that you take things at your own pace and continue to consult with your therapist about everything every step of the way.

Chelsea: Yeah, dr. Malone agrees with you. She says I need to start re-engaging with the world, but slowly. You know, it’s like the errands. She wants me to take it step by step, with an end point in mind.

Sharon: That sounds like a good plan.

Chelsea: I’m trying to be more careful and deliberate instead of impulsive and reckless. You know? I’ve had all of these conversations, you know, making amends, and, quite frankly, they’ve been brutal, but also really helpful because it’s helped me reflect on the choices I’ve made so hopefully I can make better choices going forward.

Sharon: I’m so proud of you and the progress you’re making.

Chelsea: Well, saying these things out loud, facing the people I’ve hurt, facing my own shame, it helps me to stop letting the shame control me.

Sharon: See? This is why I got my degree in psychology. It is just so rewarding to see people escape their demons and start blossoming and flourishing, like you are now.

Chelsea: Well, before I do that, I think the universe wants me to finish making amends to all the people I’ve wronged.

Phyllis: Okay, yeah, i brought jeremy stark into town. So what? But, uh, I should get some credit because, um, when he asked me to help him find diane, what did I do? I didn’t tell him. I didn’t tell him anything about diane. I stopped right there. I shot him down.

Summer: At this point, mom, that counts for very little.

Nick: How can you even think about comparing sally and ashland? They’re nothing alike, mom.

Sally: Sorry. Am I interrupting something? Who says you have to spend more on skincare I’ve got the n, it’s just my

Sally: Well [Clears throat] Seems like I just walked in on something pretty intense.

Nick: Nah, it’s just my family, as usual, making their opinions known.

Sally: Anything I should be concerned about?

Nick: No. So, how’d I get so lucky? To what do I owe this surprise?

Sally: Well, I need some of that newman business savvy. I’ve got the numbers on my new business plan, so I was hoping maybe you could take a look and share some of your expertise.

Nick: See what you got. Hmm. I like what I see… on the tablet.

Sally: Really?

Nick: Yeah. I mean, it’s great. If I were you, I would bump up the budget just to allow for any variables that you may not have considered. This includes any tax liabilities or expendables. It’ll also give you some wiggle room in case you run into any supply-chain issues or price increases due to market fluctuations. But, I mean, it’s great. I admire your attention to detail.

Sally: Wow. That sounds great.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] I love the smile, but what’s it for?

Sally: Well, I don’t want to cross any lines, but you are very sexy when you talk all business-Y.

[ Chuckles ]

Victoria: Hi.

Sharon: Your usual, I assume?

Victoria: Yes. Thank you.

Sharon: Okay. It’ll be coming right out.

Victoria: Great. Hello, chelsea. How’s everything going?

Chelsea: Um, I’m just taking it one day at a time, trying to tackle some new challenges while also dealing with some past issues. You know, it’s a process.

Victoria: Good for you.

Chelsea: Thank you. Uh, I was wondering if I could take a moment of your time.

Victoria: Oh, actually, I’m — I’m meeting my car that’s taking me to the airport. I’m leaving on a business trip.

Chelsea: Oh. I understand. Well, maybe we can talk when you get back.

Victoria: Chelsea. Uh…on second thought, I-I do have a few minutes.

Phyllis: This has nothing to do with my feelings about diane.

Phyllis: It has everything to do about your feelings of diane. You must have seen how diane has affected your husband. Come on. She left him when he was a little boy. She broke his heart.

Summer: That’s not the point.

Phyllis: It is the point. It’s inevitable she’ll do it again, or she will be driven out of town or — oh, I didn’t ordered that, but thank you.

[ Chuckles ]

Adam: Hey, if your conversation’s a private one, you might want to consider keeping it down.

Phyllis: Okay.

Summer: [ Scoffs ]

Phyllis: Thanks.

[ Quietly ] What I was saying is

[Loudly] Why should I be punished when the inevitable is going to happen?

Summer: Okay, stop! Just stop! Have you ever considered that there might be more at play here than what you know? -Hi, dr. Rick. It’s julie. -[ Gasps ] That’s me. So, what is this about?

Chelsea: Uh, have a seat.

Chelsea: Uh, have a seat. Can I get you anything to drink or…

Victoria: Uh, no, thank you. Like I said before, I’m in a bit of a tight schedule. So, what is this about?

Chelsea: Um…okay. Uh, I asked you to come here so I could make amends. And I’m hoping you’ll be willing to hear me out. Victoria, I owe you an apology. And it’s long overdue.

Victoria: An apology? For what?

Chelsea: Well [Chuckles] I mean, it all started in myanmar. What I did to billy, obviously, was…horribly wrong. Uh, and I acknowledged that earlier, and I apologized to him. But the way I came to genoa city… I tried to destroy your marriage. And it was shameful and unacceptable.

Victoria: I don’t disagree with that. But it was a long time ago.

Chelsea: And more recently. The way I disrupted your family life with johnny. I was so insistent on telling him the truth that I was his biological mother, and I know it caused a lot of stress for you. It was very selfish of me. And I want you to know, truly, for any pain, for any turmoil i caused…I’m sorry.

Noah: You know, that’s kind of too fancy a word to me, but it sounds cool.

Allie: It’s not.

Sharon: Hey. What’s all the excitement about?

Allie: Hey.

Noah: Oh, nothing new. It’s just my girl’s a genius. But I’ve known that since day one.

Allie: I am not a genius, noah. I have just been researching the effectiveness of maceration versus distillation in the scent extraction process. And I had a pretty big breakthrough in my research, so I’m hoping to share that with ashley and some of the other execs at jabot. I think if we alter some of our processes, we could really meaningfully increase our production rates and profit margin.

Sharon: Oh, that’s great. Um, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Noah: Yeah, neither do I. That’s how I know it’s genius.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Allie: Oh. It’s, uh, mariah.

Noah: Huh. My sister can’t even manage to text me, but she’s calling you. That’s cool.

Allie: Well, you know, maybe it’s about christmas, and maybe it’s none of your business.

Noah: Okay.

[ Chuckles ]

Nick: Alright. Somebody thinks I’m sexy.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: And business talk is her thing. In that case, I want to schedule the video conference call for 8:00 A.M. Sharp. We’ll go over the budget cuts extensively. And I want your report on my desk by the end of the day. Marge! Hold all my calls!

Sally: You know [Clears throat] Actually, I think I was wrong about the whole sexy thing.

Nick: I like spending time with you…working with you… laughing and spending time with you. I already said that part.

Sally: [ Laughs ]

Nick: I like it. I know you’re a very busy woman, but if you could fit me in your schedule, maybe you could pencil me in for, like, a dinner or something.

Phyllis: Wait a second. Wait a second. What are you — what are you saying? There’s more going on here than I, uh, know about?

Summer: You know what, mom? There are many levels of emotional fallout from what you did. I mean, did you even stop to think about how many people that you would be hurting in this, how it might affect harrison to have his grandmother ran out of town, for him to lose another important person in his life? Did you think about that?

Phyllis: Oh, diane is not that important to harrison.

Summer: He adores her. He’s already asking, “how many sleeps until dee dee gets back?” Okay? And did you even stop to imagine how hard this would be on kyle? He’s away on business now, so once again he has lost the opportunity to say goodbye to his mother, thanks to you.

Phyllis: Well, not thanks to me. Thanks to diane — because she decided to leave town. She should have stuck around a while longer.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] Did you even consider what the stress of what you did would do to my marriage?

Phyllis: Kyle will not blame you for any of this.

Summer: Maybe not. But if my husband is hurting, that’s gonna change things between the two of us. You know, we’re not even talking about the fact that as long as stark is in town, we could all be targeted.

Phyllis: We’re not targeted. His sole focus is diane. But once again, where is she? Oh, she disappeared. And now we’re stuck with stark.

Summer: Oh, okay. So, you’re just pointing the finger back at her?

Phyllis: Pretty much, yeah. And by the way, I helped diane out when I told stark that i would not help him find her. I shut him down. Do you understand that? It’s over. And I told him to go to los angeles.

Summer: Okay, so, now you’re taking a step back, you’re throwing your hands in the air and claiming that you tried? Mom, you have taken zero accountability for the repercussions of your thoughtless actions. Not to mention the lives that are at stake here. People that you claim to love.

Phyllis: Oh, wow. I guess I didn’t know how high the stakes were.

Summer: You don’t even care. Do you even want to know what kyle and I are thinking?

Phyllis: Um, not really, but — but I’m afraid to ask. So be — be — be nice. What are you thinking?

Summer: Kyle and I have already discussed everything, and we both agree with jack. Your employment at marchetti will be terminated effective immediately.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Sally: This feels good. Wonderful, in fact. You know, this whole thing is new to me, planning dates, taking things slow. I always felt like I was trying to outrun things with adam. But this…

Nick: I know what you mean. We can just enjoy the journey.

Sally: Look at us. We have all the time in the world. Except for right now. Unfortunately, I actually got a to-go order at society because i did not know where things stood between us and I — I definitely didn’t want to overstay my welcome. So, that was my way of giving myself a time limit, and i really need to go pick up my order.

Nick: Okay.

Sally: Sorry. But… I will pencil you in.

Sharon: Is allie still on the phone with mariah?

Noah: Yeah. Hopefully it’s a big surprise for me. I’m telling you, mom, allie is just…

[ Sighs ] She’s amazing. And brilliant. I’m really glad I get to spend another christmas here with the family and now with her, too. Okay, you don’t look nearly as happy as I do. Is something going on?

Sharon: I wanted to take a moment to speak with you before allie comes back.

Noah: Is something wrong?

Sharon: Audra was here earlier looking for you.

Victoria: I appreciate you making this effort to apologize. I can’t imagine how difficult that must have been for you. Especially since you and i haven’t had a particularly close relationship over the past years.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Victoria: I hope you know that I sincerely do want the best for you in your recovery. But I… I can’t help but having a few concerns.

Chelsea: You think I said all this to you because I still plan to push for a deeper relationship with johnny?

Phyllis: You’re firing me.

[ Laughs ] Wow, this is absolutely unbelievable.

Summer: I never wanted it to come to this.

Phyllis: Uh-huh. Diane — she’s not even in town, and she’s pulling the strings.

Summer: Mom, I told you what the consequences would be if this thing with diane got out of control, and you still decided to contact stark. So, I don’t know what you wanted me to do. Oh. Thank you so much.

[ Exhales sharply ] And you know what? While you’re so busy blaming diane, you’re not even taking a moment to stop and think about how you should be held accountable for your actions. I really hope that this is at least a learning experience for you. I brought in ensure max protein

Adam: Hi.

Sally: Hi.

Adam: I got to say, I’m a little surprised that you would, uh, choose to join me.

Sally: Well, you should be. I mean, I’m not afraid of running into you. I believe we came to a good and natural resolution to our relationship.

Adam: I’m glad you feel that way.

Sally: Besides, I’m just here to pick up my takeout. I would say that it is a surprise to run into you, but we seem to see each other everywhere we go, so…

Adam: Yeah.

Well, genoa city’s not that big, so it’s inevitable.

Sally: Well, you should be careful or you might lose your job if you don’t start showing up to jabot every once in a while.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Uh, work is work. And it’ll get done.

Sally: Well, with your drive and focus, jabot’s very lucky to have you. Newman’s loss is definitely their gain.

Adam: Losing jobs at newman is a trend for the current patrons of this bar.

Sally: Ohh. Ouch. But true. Now we’re just doing our best to move on.

Adam: So, how are you spending your time these days?

Lauren: Oh!

Michael: Hey, phyllis.

Lauren: Hi.

Phyllis: Mm.

Lauren: Are you dining alone?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Hey, uh, lauren, I wanted to let you know that your advice to just, um, you know, let diane be and move on — uh, well, that was wrong. Her level of evil has affected all of us.

Michael: Mm. [ Chuckles ] Nice to see you again, phyllis. Maybe we should, uh, have a drink together before you tear my wife to shreds.

Phyllis: And you. You — you’re hired to keep tabs on people by victor. I mean, did you not notice diane’s huge skeleton in her L.A. Closet?

Michael: I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

Phyllis: Mm! Exactly my point. I mean, because of your negligence, diane is the damsel in distress and jack is her white knight. In fact, he’s thinking of going head-to-head with jeremy stark, one of the most dangerous men i have ever met in my life.

Lauren: Uh, who’s jeremy stark?

Michael: He’s an ex-con that diane got mixed up with in los angeles and now, according to victor’s investigators, is in genoa city for seemingly nefarious purposes. Oh, wait. [ Chuckles ] So, I did actually know who the skeleton is.

Phyllis: And diane, as you say, got mixed up with him, but, um, for some reason, I’m responsible for all the problems he’s creating.

Michael: I don’t know if you remember this, but I warned you early on to let this go. I told you that the potential losses weren’t worth trying to destroy diane.

Phyllis: What? Seriously? “I told you so”? That’s all you’re gonna say to me?

Michael: I also remember telling you that this could potentially bite you in the ass, which now seems to be the case.

Noah: Yeah, I can’t say I’m surprised audra asked you about me.

Sharon: Well, actually, she spoke to one of my baristas and I kind of overheard. But don’t worry. She didn’t say anything to audra. Um, I think I see a customer who needs help. I’m gonna…

Allie: You know, I have to say I am really impressed with audra’s level of confidence and entitlement.

Noah: That’s how she’s always been.

Allie: I mean, I-I just don’t understand how she still thinks there should ever be anything between you two. You have repeatedly told her it’s over, right? And nothing has happened since then?

Noah: [ Sighs ]

Allie: Like, you can’t think of anything you might have said or — or done that could have led her on in some way, right? Or can you?

Noah: No, no, not really.

Allie: I know there’s something that you haven’t told me. What is it? Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Victoria: You’re right. I am very curious to know what your intentions are in regards to johnny.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Let me assure you, my sole focus right now is getting better. I am not going after johnny. I am not going to do anything that’s gonna make either one of you uncomfortable.

Victoria: Well, that’s good to hear.

Chelsea: I’ve come to realize through working with my therapist that I think I was reaching out to johnny to fill some kind of void inside. And that wasn’t fair to him. And it certainly wasn’t fair to you. You’re an amazing woman who’s done an incredible job raising this beautiful boy.

Victoria: Thank you for saying that.

Chelsea: He’s a really lucky kid. So…thank you for all you’ve done for him.

Victoria: I love johnny. I love him more than words can say. I would do anything for him. The thought of losing him… I’m glad to hear that you want what’s best for johnny because that’s all that I want.

Noah: [ Sighs ] There is something that I need to tell you.

Allie: Okay. Whatever it is, I can handle it.

Noah: Audra came to see me at the club. Now, I figured she just wanted to talk more about the miscarriage, you know, actually have a real conversation for once, now that everything’s been aired out and I’ve had time to process the whole thing.

Allie: But that’s not what she wanted?

Noah: No. No, not by a long shot. She, uh… she made it abundantly clear, with no uncertain terms, that what she really wanted was me. She still thinks there’s this undeniable spark between the two of us, and, um… before I knew what was happening, she, uh — she kissed me.

Allie: She what?

Noah: I pulled away. You know, without any hesitation, I put a stop to it, but I guess she still was able to read into the situation more than there actually was.

Allie: What was there for her to read into? Did you respond to her? Noah, did you kiss her back?

Noah: I can’t —

Allie: Even for a little bit?

Noah: I can’t be sure. I just —

Allie: Oh, so, that’s why she won’t give up?

Noah: Look, I don’t know, alright? It was confusing. It all happened really fast.

Allie: Tell me, noah. Do I need to be worried?

Noah: [ Sighs ]

Sally: Actually, I am in the process of developing a business plan for an interior design company. So I actually don’t have an overwhelming amount of free time for personal matters at the moment.

Adam: Wow. Interior design. Wow, that’s how you’re choosing to follow up running newman media.

Sally: Yeah. Chloe and I are hoping to partner with chancellor-winters and design for their hotels, their offices, their entertainment venues. Once I get my foot in the door, I have no doubt that my company will be a success.

Adam: Well, your fierce optimism never ceases to impress me. I knew it wouldn’t be long until you landed on your feet. So, I wish you nothing but good fortune and success on your new venture. And believe it or not, I hope nick brings you the happiness that you deserve.

Sally: Thank you. I, uh — I appreciate that. And, yes, um, nick and I have decided to…officially start seeing each other. But, you know, we’re — we’re going slow.

Adam: You know, please don’t go slow on my account. You know, despite everything i said, I wish you both well.

Phyllis: “I told you so”? Really? That’s all you got for me? “I told you so”? Well, that’s great. Excuse me. My work is done here. Look at this guy — adam. Look at him. You know he’s co-ceo of jabot? Did you know that? I never see him there. I haven’t once seen him there. I just see him hanging around town, skulking, hanging out at bars. Jack doesn’t fire him. No. Me? All I’m doing is trying to save the abbott family and save my daughter. That’s all I’m doing. And I get fired.

Sally: Lauren.

Lauren: Sally.

Sally: Michael.

Michael: Hey.

Sally: Good to see you. Phyllis, it’s great to run into you, as well. This actually gives me the perfect opportunity to give you a heads-up. You might want to know that you may need to step up your game. I’m sure you haven’t heard yet ’cause we’re still finalizing the details, but pretty soon i am going to be your biggest competitor.

Phyllis: What fantasy are you spinning, sally?

Sally: Oh, it’s very real. Chloe and I are launching an interior design business. We’ll probably be going head-to-head with marchetti home. How exciting is that? Well, have a good day, you all. I know I will.

Lauren: Um…to the bar.

Michael: Yeah. Bottle of scotch with two straws. Bye.

Phyllis: Oh, my god. Everyone’s lost their damn mind.

[ Sighs ] A dental tool is round for a reason.

Update written by Barbara

At Society, Traci sees Lily sitting at a table by herself, looking pensive and miserable so she goes over to Lily to greet her and says she’ll listen if Lily wants. Lily tells Traci that she was thinking about Billy and Traci picks up on things between Billy being more than just a little bumpy. Traci suggests to Lily that she not give up on love and urgers her to talk to Billy and let him know that he has some work to do, also.

Meanwhile, Billy goes to the Glam Club, where he runs into Daniel. He sits down with Daniel and things become strained between the two men. The only thing Daniel will say about his secret project is that it is a platform that will be helpful to people. Daniel comments on Billy’s decision to leave Chancellor Winters. Billy does not want to talk with Daniel any further so he excuses himself and says he has email to do.

At Jabot, Tucker convinces Ashley to join him for an outdoor picnic.  When they get to where he has had everything set up, with a large picnic basket of food and hot cider.

He talks to her about his accident and how it made him realize how much he wants to be involved in Devon and his grandson’s lives.  The conversation turns to business and Tucker suggests that Ashley leave Jabot to start an enterprise of  her own with him.

At the Abbott house, Jack is at his desk with his laptop open. Harrison comes home from school and shows Jack a drawing he made. He him that it’s for DiDi and asks when she is coming back.  Jack goes over to the couch and has Harrison sit down next to him. He gently explains that DiDi had to go away on a trip for awhile and she will be gone longer than his daddy’s trip. He also tells Harrison that DiDi will be thinking of him every single day while she’s gone.

When Harrison asks if DiDi will be there for Christmas, Summer has him speak with Kyle on the phone because she thinks it would be helpful for Harrison to hear his daddy’s voice.

After Harrison goes into the kitchen with Mrs. Martinez, Jack and Summer talk about Jeremy Stark and Jack declares that if Jeremy doesn’t leave on his own, he will get rid of him when he finds his “Achilles heel” because everyone has one.

Jack also tells Summer that he’s well aware of how Diane kept a lot of secrets, but adds that it seems like Diane has been playing defense ever since she came back to Genoa City. He also mentions that he feels Diane has truly tried to reinvent herself.

Summer understands Jack’s support of Diane because she’s Kyle’s mother, but she also admits that she held out hope for Jack and Phyllis to ultimately be back together.

Meanwhile, Phyllis meets with Jeremy at the Crimson Lights patio. She is very uncomfortable with wide eyes, eventually leaning in and speaking to Jeremy in a hushed tone. Phyllis eventually admits to Jeremy that she was the woman who called him and told him where he could find Diane. She also lets him know that she has no proof of Diane going to the Feds and it resulting in him going to prison.

Phyllis says that everything is speculation on her part because no one is telling her anything. She adds that since Diane left her son and grandson, this means she must be scared. Jeremy and Phyllis end their conversation, he tells her to have a good day and he walks through the coffeehouse to go out the front door.

Phyllis goes to Jabot and tells Jack and Summer that she met with Jeremy. She lets them know that she eventually told Jeremy the truth – that she was the one who tipped him off about Diane being in Genoa City, which resulted in Diane bolting in fear.  This is also an admission to Jack and Summer that Phyllis let Jeremy know Diane’s whereabouts.

Jack goes off on Phyllis for making things worse when he had told her to stay away from Jeremy.  He tells her that what she has done is “classic Phyllis”, going on a tirade and hoping everyone will give her a pass when she finally acknowledges the damage she has done.

He then tells her in no uncertain terms that he is done with her. When she asks if what he means by that, if it’s coming from him as Jack Abbott or as CEO of Jabot, he answers that it’s both. Phyllis asks if he is firing her and he reminds her that she reports directly to Summer and Kyle at Marchetti. He adds that if it were up to him, he would fire Phyllis this second.

Phyllis realizes that whether or not she will continue to have a job with Marchetti is in Summer and Kyle’s hands.  Summer looks uneasy.

Recap written by Eva

Traci suggests to Lily that she and Billy should talk to a couple’s counselor to get them over this rough time in their relationship. Lily thinks this is a good idea and tells Traci she will talk to Billy about it. Billy and Daniel have a drink at the Grand Phoenix and Billy is bothered because Daniel tells him he shouldn’t have left Lily alone at Chancellor Winters when she needed him. Daniel also wonders what Billy’s new career direction will be, but Billy stands up and walks away from the table. Daniel tells Billy that the new idea he is working on is a platform to help people find their purpose.

Tucker and Ashley have a winter picnic at the lake and, as they talk, Ashley figures out that Tucker plans to take over Chancellor Winters and Jabot so he can run the newly merged company with her and Devon. Tucker denies that is his plan and instead offers to give Ashley money to start her own business empire.

Jeremy Stark has a talk with Phyllis and, at first, she tells him she wasn’t the person who anonymously called him and told him that Diane was in Genoa City. Phyllis changes her mind later and tells Jeremy the truth that she did call him, but she had no proof that Diane turned him into the police. Phyllis also tells Jeremy to go back to California, but Jeremy tells her Diane has something he wants and he isn’t leaving town without it.

Phyllis later goes to Jabot and tells Jack and Summer the details of her conversation with Jeremy. Jack and Summer are happy that Phyllis finally admitted to then that she brought Jeremy to town, but they are upset that Phyllis doesn’t realize that her actions put them in danger. Jack tells Phyllis that he is done with her and if it were up to him she would be fired but he will leave that decision to Kyle and Summer.

Traci: Lily. Lily?

Lily: Oh, my god. Traci. Sorry. Hi. I didn’t hear you.

Traci: Hi.

[ Chuckles ] That’s okay. Everybody’s minds are a million miles away this time of year, you know, going over our shopping lists and trying to figure out who’s naughty and who’s nice. I mean, I always think everyone’s nice, and then I look at my list and think about it. I am surrounded by some extremely naughty people.

[ Both laugh ]

Lily: I know. I think I have a lot of the same people on my list.

Traci: I think you do. I hope I’m not intruding.

Lily: No, never. Please sit. Sit down.

Traci: Thank you. Okay. For a minute. So, are you alright?

Lily: Oh, yeah. I’m fine.

Traci: Oh, good. Because when I first stepped in, your mind was a million miles away, and I don’t think you were going over your shopping list.

[ Chuckles ]

Lily: No, no, no, no. I was just thinking about billy.

Billy: [ Sighs ] And here I thought this was my little secret.

Daniel: What do you mean?

Billy: Well, ever since this place opened, around this time of the day, it’s usually a ghost town. So I come here to, you know, get a little space.

Daniel: You know, most people would go to libraries for that kind of quiet.

Billy: They don’t serve scotch at the library.

Daniel: Very true. Beverages were an incentive for me, too.

Billy: Which explains why we’re both here at the same time.

Daniel: I suppose so.

Billy: Lucky us.

Tucker: Well, how fortuitous. The very person I was looking for.

Ashley: Really?

Tucker: Yes.

Ashley: And you found me at my workplace. What are the chances?

Tucker: Are you free for a bit?

Ashley: Um…yeah, actually.

Tucker: Good.

Ashley: I was here to talk to jack, but he’s not in.

Tucker: Oh, yeah, I suspect you want to talk to jack about more than jabot.

Ashley: Why do you say that?

Tucker: I ran into diane last night. She said she’s leaving town.

Ashley: Yeah. Jack excoriated me over what he thinks is my role that I played in her abrupt departure, so —

Tucker: He excoriated you?

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: You don’t deserve that. Maybe a gentle scolding, but excoriation seems a bit

[Laughing] Excessive.

Ashley: Did you come here just to be condescending or…?

Tucker: Well, I also wanted to see you. I thought we made good progress yesterday at lunch, and I want to keep that, you know, momentum rolling. So I’ve come to ask you if you’d care to accompany me on a drive.

Ashley: In the middle of the workday?

Tucker: It’s a beautiful workday outside. And you never know. This time tomorrow, the roads could be covered with ice and snow. It might be our last chance to take a little drive around the lake till spring.

Ashley: Are you going to ignore the rules of the road like you did in monte carlo?

Tucker: Never again. No, I’ve traded in all my superfast high-performance sports cars.

Ashley: Mm. For what? Your 17th bentley?

Tucker: [ Chuckling ] No. Beat-up pickup truck.

Ashley: Mm. So, if I was supposed to go someplace with you, where would we go?

Tucker: I’m not gonna spoil the surprise for you.

Ashley: I could use some fresh air. Let’s do it.

Tucker: Let’s do it.

Summer: We’re home!

Jack: Hey! How was school today?

Harrison: Great

Summer: Show grandpa jack the drawing that you drew.

Jack: Let me see. Wow. That’s lovely.

Harrison: I made it for dee dee.

Summer: I told him that you would hold on to it until she gets back.

Jack: You know what? I know the perfect place on the refrigerator for this.

Harrison: When is dee dee coming back?

Summer: He thought that she might be home for dinner.

Jack: I’ll tell you what. Come with me. Come sit with me. We’re gonna have a little talk together.

Phyllis: Mr. Stark.

Jeremy: “Jeremy.” Please. The last person who called me mr. Stark was the judge who sentenced me to prison.

Phyllis: Oh.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: Jeremy. I’m surprised you’re still here.

Jeremy: Why would you say that?

Phyllis: You don’t seem like a patient person.

Jeremy: I could say the same about you.

Phyllis: Oh. Have you researched me?

Jeremy: A bit. But I just felt that this was a conversation worth waiting for. Please sit down. Coffee’s on me. It’s the least I could do after you gave me that information on taylor jenson. I mean — diane jenkins.

Phyllis: I know who you’re talking about.

Jeremy: It’s good to put a name and a face — and a beautiful face — to the anonymous caller that helped me track down diane here in genoa city.

Phyllis: I didn’t make that call.

Jeremy: Well, diane made it pretty clear that you had it in for her. She was pretty confident.

Phyllis: Was she?

Jeremy: Yeah.

Phyllis: Well, there’s definitely mutual animosity between diane and myself. But just because she said that i made the call does not make it true.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] Well, if it wasn’t your distinctive voice on the other end of the phone, why did you want to meet me?

Phyllis: Why are you here? What exactly are your plans?

Jack: I know your daddy had to go away on a business trip. He’ll be back soon. And dee dee had to take a trip, too. She may be back a little later. But she asked me to tell you that she’s gonna be thinking of you every single day.

Summer: And she loves you very much.

Jack: Yes, she does. Hey, I know you’re disappointed. I know how much fun you and dee dee have together, but you know what? When she gets back, you’re just gonna have extra fun.

Summer: Yeah, it’s gonna be snowing soon, and you guys can go sledding and build a snowman.

Jack: Yeah, there’ll be so many things you can do together. Won’t that be exciting?

Summer: Yeah. You know what would make you feel better, I think? Calling your daddy. And I think that he would like that, too.

Harrison: Will dee dee be back for christmas?

Jeremy: I came here to catch up with an old friend.

Phyllis: And?

Jeremy: That’s all.

Phyllis: I mean, I’m sure you have other friends. Why the urgency to connect with diane?

Jeremy: Well, diane’s special. And she has something that belongs to me, and I need to get it back. So I booked the first flight out to this charming city after i got that anonymous call.

Phyllis: You could have just picked up the phone and called her.

Jeremy: Oh, no. Face-to-face. ‘Cause I can always tell if someone’s lying to me. That’s why I invited you to have coffee with me. So, enough small talk. Let’s get down to business.

Lily: I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that about billy. You just — you caught me off guard, and I kind of blurted it out.

Traci: But it was a completely honest response, right? You were thinking about billy.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, I was.

Traci: I imagine things are a little bit bumpy between the two of you right now.

Lily: Why do you say that?

Traci: Thanksgiving. When the two of you stopped by the house, things seemed just a little off, like you were on different pages of the same book.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] That is a perfect way to describe it.

Traci: And I’m sure it’s been difficult since billy decided to step down as coo. I imagine that threw some wrenches in the plans.

Lily: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I was definitely thrown when he wanted to leave, you know? But I understood his reasons. It was terrible timing, though, ’cause that’s also when nate left. So it was really hard.

Traci: Yeah, I heard about that.

Lily: Yeah. There was just a lot of turnover to deal with. You know, just a lot of things that I thought I could count on have fallen apart.

Traci: So, would you say that things between you and billy are more than just a little bumpy right now?

Lily: You could say that.

Traci: [ Sighs ] I am so sorry.

Lily: So am I.

[ Inhales sharply ]

Billy: So I’ve heard more about your possible project at chancellor-winters.

Daniel: Really? What’d you hear?

Billy: That it’s an amazing project and it’s, um, exciting enough to keep you in town for a while.

Daniel: Well, I wish I could tell you more, but the ceo doesn’t want me to reveal too much. So, if she hasn’t told you herself…

Billy: Yeah, well, I’m sure she’ll tell me eventually. I mean, if she decides to greenlight it, of course.

Daniel: Mm. You know, I can say that I’m thinking big picture. You know, I really want to create something massive and aspirational.

Billy: That is perfectly vague.

Daniel: It’s a shame that you chose to leave chancellor-winters. I think that you’d actually be excited about this project. You know, you’d appreciate the vision, anyway.

Billy: Yeah, well, if I was there, I’d probably screw it up, so count your blessings. You’ll be in good hands with devon and lily. Me, personally, it was just time to move on.

Daniel: To?

Billy: Excuse me?

Daniel: You’re moving on to what? What’s next for billy abbott? Vo: It’s a new day.

Ashley: How did you have time to do all this?

Tucker: I had help.

Ashley: Yeah. Expensive help.

Tucker: Is there any other kind?

[ Breathes deeply ] Well, you said you could use some fresh air. It doesn’t get any fresher than this.

Ashley: Yeah, that’s very true, it doesn’T.

Tucker: Uh, there are, uh, sandwiches here, uh, hot cider in here.

Ashley: Yeah, well, you scored a lot of points for effort.

Tucker: Yeah, I think winter picnics are underrated, don’t you?

Ashley: Probably ’cause they’re kind of freezing. Ah. Right.

Tucker: [ Breathes deeply ]

Ashley: So, of all the places that you could have taken me, why did you choose this?

Tucker: Oh, just wanted to get you away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Work and family and all the other reasons you hate me.

Ashley: I don’t hate you.

Tucker: Mm.

Ashley: I don’t trust you.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ]

Ashley: They’re very different.

Tucker: Yeah. I’m gonna continue to try to change your mind about that and prove that I am worthy of your trust. Meanwhile… please.

Ashley: Thank you.

Jeremy: Now, I want to know where you got the information that diane turned me in to the fbi.

Phyllis: I told you that i was not the one who made the phone call.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] Ooh, I gotta hand it to you. You stick to a story like nobody’s business. That is an admirable skill where I come from. So, let me lay it out for you. If diane was responsible for turning me into the feds, I have every reason to be angry with her, agreed?

Phyllis: I don’t know where you’re going with this.

Jeremy: It seems that you have many attributes that could be of service to me. You aren’t necessarily bound by conventional morality, and i am very, very motivated to see diane.

Phyllis: I know what you’re getting at. You think I know where diane is, and you want me to help you find her. And when you find her, you intend to make her pay for what she did to you, right?

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] Oh, I couldn’t imagine you would have a problem with that.

Summer: Harrison is taking the news about diane really hard, but I do think it made him feel better to hear your voice. Alright. Yeah, let’s talk after dinner. I love you.

[ Breathes deeply ] Where is harrison now?

Jack: He’s in the kitchen with mrs. Martinez. When I left, he was helping her cut away the crust the way he likes it.

Summer: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: How are things in the cabin?

Summer: Oh, kyle says that diane is finally settling in. She’s not happy that she’s stuck there, but she knows it’s for the best.

Jack: Only you, kyle, and i know where she actually is. We cannot risk stark stumbling onto her actual location.

Summer: She can’t stay at the cabin forever.

Jack: Look, once kyle is back, we will work on a plan to neutralize this guy and get him away. Until we do that, diane has no life here to return to.

Summer: [ Sighs ] I wonder what it’ll take to get him to walk away.

Jack: It’s not gonna be easy. When I offered to pay him off to leave diane alone, he turned me down flat.

Summer: It can’t just be all about the cash.

Jack: It’s not. No, he has a score to settle with diane. But with any luck, maybe he’ll leave town on his own once he realizes she ran away to get away from him. And if that doesn’t work, we’ll try something else. Look, everyone has an achilles heel. I will find stark’S. Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Lily: I don’t know. I just feel like billy and i aren’t in sync right now. You know, we used to always be on the same page when it came to work and our relationship, but — [ Sighs ] I don’t know. I feel like his focus has shifted.

Traci: Lily, he’s not gambling again, is he?

Lily: Oh, no, no, no. Nothing like that.

Traci: Oh.

Lily: No. It’s almost like he needs to find a new purpose because he’s realized the corporate world is not what he wants.

Traci: Ah. He has done this before a few times. I don’t know. He just throws himself body and soul into whatever big new thing he sees for himself.

Lily: Yeah. And it’s completely taken over his life. So, in turn, it’s taken over mine, you know? Like, right now I’m sitting here and I have so much that I need to work on and focus on and I — I’m just thinking about billy and, “what is he gonna do next?” You know? It’s like we just keep going in circles, and [Sighs] I want it to stop, you know? But I — I don’t really know how.

Billy: Why would my future be any concern to you?

Daniel: I didn’t mean anything by it. I’m just curious.

Billy: Okay. Well, you know, I’m still trying to figure it out. Got options here, options there. A little bit stuck in the middle.

Daniel: It’s good to have choices.

Billy: It is, but it does feel strange to be questioned about them by you of all people.

Daniel: Of all people? Hmm. [ Chuckles ] I’m not really sure how to interpret that.

Summer: Harrison’s upstairs with the nanny for his nap.

Jack: I’m glad someone in this house is getting some sleep these days. This whole stark situation has all the grown-ups on edge. And I want this to be resolved before harrison starts picking up on the tension.

Summer: You’ve put him first since the day he came into our lives.

Jack: He is completely innocent in all of this. Yes, diane brought some of this on herself, but I’m not going to rest until I know she’s safe.

Summer: You two have grown so close. It’S…sweet how protective you are of her.

Jack: It feels like there’s a question in here somewhere.

Summer: I guess I’m just wondering how you can so easily forgive diane, but you couldn’t do the same with my mom.

Jack: I see.

Summer: This is coming from somebody who is furious with my mom right now. She crossed the line. She brought this criminal to town, and she put us all in jeopardy, but how many times did diane say that there were no more secrets and then — surprise! — There was another one?

Jack: Summer, summer, hear me out. Ever since diane came back, she has gone to great lengths to show she’s a different person than the one who faked her death, who turned all our lives upside down. Yes, I am not forgetting the things she tried to cover up, but I’m starting to understand why she did it. She was afraid that tucker would undo all the progress she’d made with kyle, that if we all knew about stark that we’d judge her and cut her loose.

Summer: Even though her involvement with him supposedly ended a long time ago?

Jack: Exactly. She has been playing defense since she got to genoa city. All these accusations and innuendoes coming from every corner. At the same time, she’s trying to prove her worth as a mother and a grandmother. I think you and I will agree she’s made some real strides there. She doesn’t want to make the same mistakes. She has truly tried to reinvent herself. She’s defending herself against attacks from ashley and nikki and especially phyllis.

Summer: I guess that’s fair.

Jack: Summer, your mother has been on the warpath since we discovered that diane was alive.

Summer: I can see where you’re coming from, but —

Jack: There is a deep connection between phyllis and me that goes back to before you were born. It’s been a giant part of my life, and, no, I never thought it would disappear, but… summer, I can’t do it anymore. I can’t sit back and say, “well, that’s who phyllis is,” every time something like this happens, especially in a situation like this, where who she is has created real danger for all of us.

Jeremy: The woman who called me must have realized how i would react when I found out i was serving a heavy prison sentence because my former partner betrayed me. Now, I don’t think it’s out of bounds to consider her an ally. Her and diane have different problems, but the feelings were mutual. We want the same thing. You know what I’m saying, right?

Phyllis: [ Breathes sharply ]

[ Sighs heavily ] I called you. I was the one who called you.

Jeremy: You see?

Phyllis: [ Sighs ]

Jeremy: Doesn’t that feel better?

Phyllis: I called you because I knew that you would scare diane out of town. I have no proof that she went to the feds.

Jeremy: None? Not an overheard conversation or a legal document lying around?

Phyllis: No. I have no proof. It’s just speculation.

Jeremy: So, you lied to me?

Phyllis: I needed her out of town. I needed this woman out of town. Do you understand? And I knew if you came into town, she would leave. She would leave because she would be scared. And you know what? The people of genoa city — we thank you. We thank you so much for doing this. And it’s my responsibility. I’m the one who’s responsible for lying to you. And let me just say, from the bottom of my heart, I am sorry. I am so sorry. I’m sorry that I inconvenienced you. I’m sorry that — that you’re here. But you know what? You — you can go back to — to california or L.A. Or — or wherever you want now. We’re done. And — and I apologize. And — and just know it all happened because of me. When you really need to sleep.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Ashley: Well, that was delicious.

Tucker: Good.

Ashley: You’re such a smart guy, aren’t you? Getting the food from that bistro in the warehouse district that you remembered that I love.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. I remember everything.

Ashley: Yeah, you do, don’t you? Quite an eye for detail.

Tucker: Oh, yeah. I always have. And it’s even more acute since my crash in monte carlo. I — I — I notice the little things even more now. Like how there’s just a tad too much cinnamon in that cider. But I like it anyway.

[ Inhales deeply ] And someone’s burning a fire. You smell that? I love that smell. Ah. Look that way again.

Ashley: Why?

Tucker: ‘Cause of your eyes.

Ashley: God.

Tucker: I’m serious. Your eyes just sparkle in the afternoon sun.

Ashley: Oh, please. Really?

Tucker: Yes.

Ashley: Come on.

Tucker: I’m being honest. No, that crash really changed me. It did. I reevaluated my entire life, and [Chuckles] I found it sorely lacking. I was, um, missing out on love.

Ashley: I’m supposed to believe that you were actually missing out on love? All these years, no love for you, tucker?

Tucker: Well, you know what I’m talking about. I’m not talking about just romantic love. I missed out on so much with devon. I feel a lot of regret when it comes to him. So now I just want to really know him. And my grandson. Our grandson.

Ashley: Yeah. What a cute little boy.

Tucker: I know. And I don’t think it’s too late, either, ’cause I think I can start to create a bond with devon. I think deep down in his heart, he wants the same. And since I’ve been back, I’ve really created a foundation on which we can build a better and stronger relationship than we’ve ever had before. And I’d love to work with him, of course, just the way he did with neil. I think we could do great things together.

Ashley: It’s interesting hearing you go on about this.

Tucker: Why is that?

Ashley: Is that your intention? You want to get a piece of chancellor-winters so you can work beside devon?

Tucker: What makes you say that?

Ashley: Well, if I’m interpreting what you said correctly, you’re not gonna be truly satisfied until you have both a personal and a professional relationship with your son. And I just can’t help but draw a parallel between, you know, the two of us.

Tucker: Hmm.

Ashley: Because, you know, you’re working overtime to rebuild our relationship, correct? And I remember what diane said about you wanting her to get the financial information about jabot before you went after her company, so…

Tucker: Well, I thought you dismissed that whole idea as ridiculous.

Ashley: Why would I dismiss something like that? I wouldn’T. I think what I said is you would be stupid and perhaps foolish to make that kind of a play. But it kind of sounds like maybe that’s what you’re doing with devon and his company. I’m just wondering if maybe — are you going after chancellor-winters and jabot?

Summer: Thank you for taking the time to explain things to me. I feel like I have a little bit better grasp on things. You and I might not ever agree on the topic of diane, but i guess I can understand why you’re willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Jack: Thank you for hearing me out. Thank you for offering your understanding.

Summer: I mean, it comes down to kyle, right? He loves his mom, and you have to support that.

Jack: Just as you have to support your mother, even though you’re very angry at her right now.

Summer: Yeah.

[ Sighs ] I guess I just sort of always held out the hope that you two would work things out, settle down together.

Jack: I promise you I’m sorry to disappoint you.

Summer: No, it’s fine. It’s just… I feel sad for my mom. She can’t seem to get out of her own way. She doesn’t realize that her actions are costing her things that could make her so happy. She’s her own worst enemy.

[ Breathes deeply ]

Jeremy: Well, this has been, um…illuminating.

[ Chuckles ] Thank you very much for the talk.

Phyllis: I’m relieved I came clean.

Jeremy: Yeah, and I feel terrible that I assumed the worst of my old flame.

Phyllis: I am very, very sorry I inconvenienced you. I can’t apologize enough.

Jeremy: Oh, no worries. You’re not the only one who needs to apologize. I really need to make things right with diane. Where did you say she was off to?

Phyllis: Okay, I was telling you the truth. I have no idea where she is.

Jeremy: But you can find out.

Phyllis: I can’t find out. Nobody is telling me. Nobody’s telling me. I mean, she left without her grandson or her son, so she’s definitely scared.

Jeremy: Hmm.

[ Chuckling ] I can’t imagine why. You have a good day.

Tide pods ultra oxi

Jack: I got a crazy busy afternoon. What does yours look like?

Summer: Back-to-back meetings, but I should be able to get home in time to have dinner with harrison.

Jack: Oh, with kyle gone, that’ll mean a lot to him. I’m not gonna deal with your mother. You’re on your own.

Phyllis: I need to talk to both of you, actually.

Jack: If it’s about business, talk to your daughter. She’s your boss. If it’s anything else, I’m not interested.

Phyllis: It’s about jeremy stark! I met with him.

[ Sighs ] I need to tell you both what happened.

Billy: I guess all I’m saying is that, uh, you, of all people, have never been interested in my occupational future in the past, so why would you now, you know? I mean, you’re an artist. What do you care about the rat race?

Daniel: A lot has changed. I mean, I’ve changed. My world has expanded. You know, my point of view has adjusted. I would think you of all people would understand that.

Billy: I’m not sure how to interpret that.

Daniel: I mean, you’ve not always really been the corporate type. You’ve got a very colorful résumé with a dozen or so different careers. You know, like the time you owned the restaurant.

Billy: Yeah. Won that in a poker game.

Daniel: Right. And you’ve always been open to new opportunities. You’re lucky. You know, when they’ve presented themselves or when they do present themselves, you’re gonna have a partner who is supportive. One would hope that you would return the favor and be supportive of lily, as well.

Billy: Not sure what you’re thinking. I’ve been nothing but supportive to lily.

Daniel: Yet you chose to walk away just as the situation at chancellor-winters started to get a little bit dicey. You know, lily — she was struggling, and it was almost as if you abandoned her. I mean, you must have been very unhappy there.

Billy: This is a big place. I’m gonna go find a little space over there so I can, uh, work on my e-mails. Good luck with your project.

Daniel: I mean, I can tell you this much. It’s a platform to help people find their purpose.

Billy: Huh.

Lily: I’m sorry. I don’t mean to dump all this on you. I don’t want to put you in an uncomfortable position. I know that I should be talking to billy about this. It’s just that we’ve been talking past each other these days.

Traci: [ Sighs ] Maybe you need an objective third party to help you navigate these troubles.

Lily: Are you volunteering?

[ Both laugh ]

Traci: I said objective. I mean, I’m his sister, and I’m your friend. I like to think I’m fair, but, no, I mean a really objective third party.

Lily: You mean like a couples counselor?

Traci: Yeah. I’ve had so many friends who have really improved their relationships by getting professional help. I know it’s helped me.

Lily: No, I mean, I like it. You know, it’s proactive, and i think it’s a step in the right direction.

Traci: Do you think billy would go?

Lily: Um…I don’t know. I mean… I don’t know. We’re so not on the same page. I can’t really guess what he’s thinking.

Traci: Lily, don’t give up on him. Billy needs you. I know that I don’t need to explain to you that relationships go through these rough patches, but I really want to think that that’s all there is going on between you and billy right now because I can see how much the two of you love each other. And those deep feelings don’t just go away.

Lily: I don’t know. I just feel like it’s slipping through my fingers, and I kind of feel like I’m the only one who’s trying to hold it all together.

Traci: Okay, then you need to tell him that. You need to tell him that you cannot do this alone and maybe get through that thick, stubborn, gorgeous skull of his that he has some work to do here. Your heart is the beat of life.

Tucker: You know, it’s unbelievable. Everybody, including you and devon, thinks that my intentions are hostile.

Ashley: Well, your whole career has been built on hostility. Your business card read “tucker mccall, disruptive entrepreneur.” Remember that gem?

Tucker: That was the old me. I want to make something perfectly clear to you. Any working relationship i entered into with devon I would want to be mutually agreed upon. And the same thing goes for you and me.

[ Sighs ] Oh, ashley. I want to work side by side with you. I really do. You’re so brilliant. You are, and the way your mind works…

[ Clicks tongue ] It’s exciting.

Ashley: [ Chuckles ] Hmm.

Tucker: Can you imagine what we would accomplish together?

Ashley: Okay, but you’d never be welcome at jabot. You know that.

Tucker: No fooling?

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: Well, there are other options. For instance, if I were to propose to you that you quit your family business and let me help you build your own empire, what would you say to that?

Phyllis: Jeremy stark asked to meet with me.

Jack: And you obliged?

Phyllis: Yes. Um…he was certain that I knew about diane’s whereabouts and that I was the one who called him. I said it wasn’t me. I denied it. But then I decided to try something new. I told him it was me.

Jack: Wait, you admitted the truth?

Phyllis: Yes. It was me.

Jack: [ Breathes deeply ]

Phyllis: It was me. I told him that I suggested that diane went to the feds and — and — and I was the one who called him and then diane ran scared out of town because i lured him here. I told him everything. I also suggested that he go back to california.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] Well, I’m glad that you’re finally coming clean about your involvement, mom, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re the one that started all of this.

Jack: What, were you expecting a thank-you or maybe a round of applause? Summer’s right. We wouldn’t be having this conversation, we wouldn’t be in this situation if you hadn’t set all this in motion.

Phyllis: What are you talking about? I tried to do what was right.

Jack: You tried. Is stark going to leave town, as you suggested?

Phyllis: I don’t know, but i got the feeling he’s staying here because he also told me that he needed to meet up with diane because she has something he wants?

Jack: I thought you fixed things. It sounds like you made them a whole lot worse.

Phyllis: No, that wasn’t my intention.

Jack: God, this is classic phyllis — going on a tirade, hoping everyone will give you a pass when you finally acknowledge the damage you’ve done. I told you to stay away from him. But you couldn’T. I’ve said this before. I’ll say it again. I’m done with you.

Phyllis: What? I mean, what, as jack abbott or as ceo of jabot?

Jack: Both. I don’t know if I’m more furious or disappointed. Yes, there was a little part of me actually hoping you were telling me the truth when you looked me square in the eye and said you didn’t call him. But you lied — because you never, ever change.

Phyllis: That is not fair.

Jack: I told you what the consequences would be if I found out that you reached out to stark.

Phyllis: Are you firing me?

Jack: You report directly to summer and kyle. Hopefully, they will make the right decision about you. If it were left up to me, I would fire you this second.

Lily: I’m fine.

[ Chuckles ] Really.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. Why don’t you try that with someone who doesn’t know you the way I do? You were upset when I walked in here. Now, whatever’s wrong didn’t just miraculously go away. Unless I’m magic, which, you know, I have been accused of that, so…

Lily: [ Chuckles ] I don’t know. I think there’s a law against talking about current relationship issues with an ex.

Daniel: Okay. But you know what? I bet if I was a bartender or a cab driver or any other disinterested third party, I mean, you’d probably tell me the whole story, wouldn’t you?

Lily: Well, that’s different. I would never see them again.

Daniel: You have my word. I will forget every single word after the fact, if that’s what you want, you know, like the conversation never even happened. Yes, we are exes. But you know what’s bigger than that? Our friendship.

Lily: Alright. [ Sighs ] You asked for it. I just feel like I’M… losing billy. Or maybe we’re losing each other.

Billy: I don’t think there’s anything you need to make amends for or apologize for. We’re good.

Chelsea: That’s nice of you to say. But we both know it’s not true.

Billy: We do?

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] I appreciate you trying to let me off the hook. But I have to do this, not just for me, but for you, as well.

Billy: Yeah, I guess I’m — I’m just not exactly sure what we’re talking about here.

Chelsea: It’s up to you if you don’t want to hear it. I’m not gonna force anything because that exact thing, not giving you a choice — I mean, we were practically strangers — is something I’m incredibly ashamed of.

Billy: So, we are talking about what happened in myanmar?

Chelsea: The night johnny was conceived.

Victoria: You should have received a series of e-mails from my assistant outlining our brief time in los angeles and what will be involved.

Nate: I got it. Looks good.

[ Sighs ] So, is there anything special I need to bring? Anything I need to be prepared for?

Victoria: Yes. Just to bring your best smile and be prepared to be overwhelmed by a warm reception because everyone is really looking forward to meeting with you.

Nate: I can’t wait. I hope it’s okay with you. I added a meeting with someone.

Victoria: Oh. Who is it?

Nate: This kid is breaking the internet right now. I don’t even know where to start. He’s a k-pop singing sensation, a social-media phenomenon, and he also stars in a k-drama series. This kid is on the cutting edge of everything, and if we vibe, I was thinking of doing a long-term collaboration deal.

Victoria: Hmm. Okay. Well, that sounds interesting. I guess there’s no harm in meeting him, so let’s do it.

Nate: Great. And before I forget, elena’s checking to see if she can rearrange her schedule so she can come along.

Victoria: Oh. You want to bring her on your first business trip with newman?

Nate: Would that be a problem?

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Well, I mean, it’s not a vacation. We’re only there one day and we already have meetings scheduled and everything’s pretty much back to back.

Nate: I will be laser-focused and ready to learn. It won’t be a problem.

[ Cellphone pings ] Oh. Sorry about that. It’s elena. Ah. Looks like she can’t make the trip.

Victoria: I hope everything’s okay.

Nate: Couple of doctors are out sick, and she has to fill in for them. So, that’s that.

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

[ Knock on door ] Oh. Devon.

Devon: I need to speak to nate alone. The world is full of make or break moments.

Nate: I’d be happy to speak with you, devon, but as you can see, we’re in the middle of a meeting.

Victoria: Oh, no, no, no. It’s fine. I mean, I think we’ve gone over all of the pertinent details.

Nate: If you’re sure we’re finished.

Victoria: Yes. We can talk about anything else on our way there.

Nate: Looking forward to it.

Victoria: Oh, so am I. Devon. Take care of yourself.

Devon: Oh, you too.

Nate: What’s the emergency?

Devon: So, you remember all of those chancellor-winters meetings that you sat in on, gathering information to use against us, right?

Nate: We spoke about all of that already. What’s your point?

Devon: My point is that youe ght to involve yourself in my professional life and my personal life. So, whatever happened between amanda and me is none of your damn business.

Lily: I mean, it’s not a big deal, you know? Billy and I — we clash sometimes, like all couples do. You know, like I said, we’re very different.

Daniel: Opposites attract.

Lily: [ Sighs ] I don’t know. I feel like something has changed.

Daniel: Well, from what i recall, billy’s got some destructive habits. Does this have something to do with one of those?

Lily: That’s what my instincts are telling me. It’s just, I don’t know if it’s a fair assessment.

Daniel: Why not?

Lily: Because, I mean, he’s helping a woman who is genuinely going through a very difficult time.

Daniel: Okay. And you think that maybe something is going on between the two of them?

Lily: No, no, no, no, nothing romantic, no.

[ Stammers, sighs ] It’s like he’s helping her at the exclusion of everything else, you know? He gets a text from her and he just drops everything and he goes. And — and it’s like he’s made her the center of his universe. He was there for her at this very crucial moment, and it’s almost like it’s imprinted on them, you know, and they have this, like, weird dependency with each other.

[ Sighs ] I don’t even know what I’m saying. I feel like I sound like I’m heartless or something.

Daniel: No. No. That’s the last thing you are. You sound like a woman whose boyfriend is showing up for someone else and leaving you to simmer on the back burner.

Lily: I mean, I’m not insensitive to what she’s going through, you know? Even though it sounds like I am. I — you know what? I’ve over-shared, and —

[ Sighs ] This is your fault. You forced this out of me.

[ Scoffs ]

[ Sighs ]

Daniel: Hmm.

Lily: What? Just — what?

Daniel: Nothing. I was just thinking that billy must have really gotten his act together for you to be this involved with him.

Lily: I mean, he can be the most exciting man in the room, you know? He’s — he’s thoughtful. He’s charming. He’s everything you could want in a partner.

Daniel: Until he isn’T. He’s impulsive. He makes choices that lead to disastrous outcomes.

[ Chuckles ] Oh, come on. What? Look, I’m not the one who’s in love with the guy. I can say whatever I want about him.

Lily: Yeah, clearly.

Daniel: Okay. Here’s the question. Is he falling into old patterns? You know, even though he’s trying to do the right thing and be this stand-up guy.

Lily: That’s exactly what it is. I feel like this is just a symptom.

Billy: [ Sighs ] We can talk about what happened in myanmar. But why? Um, you know it’s ancient history and, uh… we’re different people now. So I guess I just don’t really understand what —

Chelsea: The point is, I need to be accountable, own what i did, show you the respect i didn’t show you that night.

Billy: Okay, I appreciate that, but I don’t think —

Chelsea: What I did in myanmar was wrong, billy. And there’s no excusing it. So please…let me do this.

Billy: [ Inhales deeply ]

[ Clears throat ]

[ Sighs ]

Chelsea: Um, you know…

[ Sighs ] You were just another mark to me, you know, a cute, funny mark who tipped well.

[ Sighs ] We had sex —

Billy: Chels, I know all this, okay? I’m — I-I know.

Chelsea: You didn’t do anything wrong. And you got thrown in that godforsaken prison because of me. And you didn’t remember any of it. To me, at the time, it was just a crazy night that went too far, but I realize now it was wrong. It wasn’t just wild, and it most certainly wasn’t just consensual. How could it be when you were high out of your mind? And I realize now how wrong it was. When you can barely smell your plug-in,

Connor: Bye, dad!

Sharon: Hey, connor. How was school today?

Connor: Incredibly school-like. And after a long day in class, there’s one thing I want more than anything.

Sharon: One hot chocolate coming right up.

Connor: Thanks.

Sharon: After I hear one thing that you learned in school today that you thought was interesting.

Johnny: As long as I can get in on some of that hot chocolate action.

Sharon: You’re in. One hot chocolate coming up for you. Oh, michelle, could you please grab two hot chocolates, please?Ank yo um, are your parents joining you?

Johnny: Oh, uh, my mom just dropped me off. I convinced her to let me hang here for a while.

Sharon: Okay. Well, why don’t you two boys grab a seat? I’ll bring the hot chocolates over when they come out.

Johnny: Oh, I leveled up in “moonlight mayhem.”

Connor: No way. I can’t get past the boss on level 28.

Chance: Guys.

Sharon: Hey, chance.

Chance: Hi.

Sharon: Can I get you something?

Chance: I’ll do a black coffee, please.

Sharon: Okay.

Chance: Boys look like they’re having a good time, yeah? I know abby sure adores them.

Sharon: How are things, uh, going between you two?

Chance: I haven’t really seen her since I moved out. Been pretty busy settling into my new place. Thank you.

Sharon: You know, my offer to be a sounding board if you need it — oh, thank you, michelle — it still stands.

Chance: Oh. [ Chuckles ] I don’t want to get in the way of the boys and their hot cocoas now.

Sharon: Uh, yeah, they do look a little impatient. Let me bring these over there, and I’ll be right back.

Chance: Okay.

Sharon: Connor’S. And one for johnny, too.

Johnny: Thank you.

Connor: These are even better than last time. Thanks, sharon.

Sharon: Wow. You’re welcome. Please enjoy.

Johnny: You must get special treatment in here, don’t you?

Connor: Maybe a little.

Johnny: Well, then we are going to have to hang out a whole lot more.

Connor: [ Chuckles ]

Abby: Okay. Alright. There we are. Wow. I promise I will take you back to the park tomorrow because all those decorations — they were so beautiful.

[ Gasps ] Look, you have a baby lion right here.

[ Sighs ] You were turning into a baby snowman.

[ Smooches ] And we can’t have that, can we? So here we are in daddy devon’s toasty, toasty little place. Yeah. Yeah. So, here, let’s get all comfy and cozy and warm. How does that sound? Huh? Yes, daddy devon said he will be back soon and we should make ourselves at home, so that is exactly what we are doing. And you know what I think? I think we need a change of scenery, huh?

Dominic: Mama.

Abby: Ugh. I know. I know. Things have been a little sad at home since chance left. And we are getting our footing. But I promise everything is gonna be okay. Yeah.

[ Sighs ]

Nate: You and amanda are the last thing on my mind at this moment.

Devon: Mm.

Nate: So I’m not sure why you barged in here so upset.

Devon: Well, you asked lily about us, and then apparently her answer wasn’t good enough, so then you asked me about us.

Nate: Then you shut me down, said it was a family matter.

Devon: I spoke to imani this morning on the phone, and she told me that you called her and you asked her about us.

Nate: I called imani to see how naya’s holding up and if her condition had changed.

Devon: And then you what? You conveniently steered the conversation to me?

Nate: Steered it to you?

Devon: Yeah.

Nate: Amanda’s rather abrupt relocation to virginia came up, yes. But isn’t it natural for me to wonder what could have happened to cause her to walk away from both her job and a committed relationship with you?

Devon: No, it’s not. What’s natural is to let something go when somebody tells you it’s none of your business. That’s what’s natural.

Nate: Wow. This is quite the touchy subject for you, isn’t it? Makes me wonder, what in the world could you have done to mess things up with amanda? Hi, I’m lauren, I lost 67 pounds on golo.

Chance: Look at them. They make it look so easy. I mean, after years of thinking they were cousins, they find out they’re biological brothers and they just roll with it.

Sharon: Children can be very wise. We could learn a lot from them.

Chance: Well, I hope they can tell me their secret because I’ve been doing everything I can to be amicable with abby. And — I don’t know — inside, i just got a lot of things going on.

Sharon: Well, that’s only natural. The key is to find a healthy way to get those feelings out.

Chance: Like talking to you?

Sharon: Sure. I was thinking about, you know, you could go to the gym, hit a punching bag, but whatever works for you.

Chance: Mnh. Boxing kind of reminds me of victor. I think I’ll stick with you.

Sharon: It won’t be terrible. I promise.

Chance: I know. You’re pretty easy to talk to. I’ll tell you what I’m worried about the most. It’s dominic. You know, he’s so young, and he’s going through all these big changes. You know, I read somewhere that early childhood trauma can impact the rest of your life.

Sharon: It can. But you and abby and devon are all putting him first. You’re doing everything you can to make this transition easy for him.

Chance: I just don’t want him to feel like he has to grow up and navigate all this tension between everybody. And I know the solution is to get rid of all the tension, but — I don’t know — that’s tough. I can’t just snap my fingers, make it all go away.

Sharon: Well, in time, it’ll get easier. You’ll all move on.

Chance: You know, I spent my entire childhood believing my dad was dead. And even though I had the best mom in the world and I had a great stepdad in ryan… I still felt that loss.

Sharon: And then you lost ryan, too.

Chance: I wanted things to be less complicated for my son. I think I failed.

Sharon: No, you didn’T. Dom will always be in your life. He’ll have this blended and, yes, unconventional family, but that could be a huge advantage to him. He’ll have so many people who love him. Look at those boys. You know, they have been through divorces, stepparents. Now they’ve just found out they’re brothers. And they’re doing great. That’s dom’s future.

Lily: God, you have no idea how good it feels to talk about this. It just — it’s been driving me crazy.

Daniel: I know you don’t need me to tell you this, but whatever’s going on with him, it — it isn’t about or because of you.

Lily: I mean, my head knows that, but…my heart, not so sure.

Daniel: Okay.

[ Clears throat ] Well, are you, um, ready for my outsider’s opinion?

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Sure.

Daniel: You and billy aren’t losing each other.

Lily: Then what’s happening?

Daniel: What’s happening is you. You’re too nice.

Lily: [ Laughs ] What’s that even mean? What?

Daniel: If you weren’t so focused on being polite, you would admit that billy’s choices — they aren’t compatible with a long-term relationship. And the two of you might actually benefit from setting more defined boundaries. How’d I do?

Lily: [ Sighs ] That was awful.

Daniel: [ Laughs ] What’d I say that was so wrong?

Lily: Nothing, nothing. I — [ Sighs ] I shouldn’t even be talking about this. Just — [ Sighs ] We had an argument, and — and I’m still figuring things out. So, that’s it.

Daniel: Okay. Well, let me present a different, more optimistic scenario. What if the guy is more noble than any of us have ever given him credit for? And this person he’s helping — what if she is in such a bad place that she needs him to be this involved and she needs him to be this committed, you know, just to make it through this difficult time?

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Chelsea: I drugged you, billy. Because of what I did, you were in no condition to consent to anything.

Billy: I hear you. And I need you to listen to me for a second here, okay, because I’ve had a wild streak my entire life. And — and when I think back on that night, it was a perfect storm of, “why the hell not?” I walked on the wild side, and i enjoyed every minute of it, chels.

Chelsea: You’re doing that thing again. Stop it.

Billy: What thing is that?

Chelsea: That thing, that thing you do where you make excuses for me because you think it’s too much for me to handle. If you don’t want to talk about it, fine, but otherwise, please —

Billy: No, I guess I just don’t understand where this is coming from right now.

Chelsea: Johnny. Johnny. That’s where this is coming from. He’s gonna grow up and ask questions. This sweet, beautiful, innocent little boy is gonna ask questions, and he’s gonna want to know how I met his dad. And that — that breaks my heart for him. And truly, it breaks my heart for you, too. You never remembered anything. And that’s awful. And it doesn’t matter what you said or did at the time. That was not real consent. I mean, am… am I wrong that this matters?

Billy: My son was created that night with someone that i barely knew. And you’re right. I don’t remember anything. But he exists. And I love him. And because of him, I wouldn’t change a thing. But…if anything like that ever happened to him —

Chelsea: I know. I know, billy.

[ Voice breaking ] And I am so sorry.

Sharon: Children are resilient.

Chance: Yeah, I, uh — I got to remember that. Maybe I’ll worry less about dom.

Sharon: Adults can be resilient, too. I’ve seen you overcome all kinds of things in the past, and this is no different.

Chance: Yeah, I keep asking myself — after everything that happened in spain, this should be easy to get over, right? It shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s not.

Sharon: Nothing is bigger than your family. So don’t discount what you’re going through now.

Chance: Well, I’ll tell you one thing. Wallowing is not the answer, either. I know what I do need. I need to add a little bit of johnny and connor’s “que ser* ser*” vibe into my life.

Sharon: Maybe we should ask them for advice.

Chance: [ Chuckles ]

Abby: Look at this picture. You see these people? This — this is your family. You know daddy. And then there’s aunt lily. She’s daddy’s sister, and she adores you.

Dominic: Yeah.

Abby: Yeah.

Dominic: Yeah.

Abby: And this man right here — you know him.

Dominic: Yeah.

Abby: Yeah. He’s grandpa neil. Grandpa neil. You want to know something? Grandpa neil and grandpa victor were really good friends, just like me and your dad.

Dominic: Yeah. Yeah.

Dominic: Ma. Ma. Ma.

Abby: Daddy and I, our friendship — it goes way back. And that friendship is very important to me. And now I don’t know what’s gonna happen.

Nate: Amanda told imani something went down between the two of you. That’s the reason why she decided not to stick around genoa city. She just didn’t tell her what it was.

Devon: Okay, then. It doesn’t concern either one of you, it sounds like.

Nate: Amanda decided to walk away from her relationship with you. After speaking with imani, i know it wasn’t about naya’s condition. That hasn’t changed. Which leads me to think the two of you had some sort of falling-out, like, a big one.

Devon: Why are you so obsessed with a family that you’re not a part of anymore?

Nate: I don’t know if you know this, but amanda stopped by my place last time when she got back from virginia.

Devon: Uh-huh. Yeah. And?

Nate: She wanted to find a way to make things work between you and me. She was trying to help you because she knows how much family means to you.

Devon: Right, and it doesn’t mean anything to you, which is why you’ve lost the right to ask me any questions about my life. Okay?

Nate: Okay. Last time I saw amanda, she was with chance. Yeah. He showed up right after our conversation about love and forgiveness and family. They were headed to your place. The next thing I know, you and amanda were done. It makes me wonder — what did I miss? Hmm. Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Johnny: That’s the link for the game download and right under that is my username and that way —

Connor: We can play together even when we’re not hanging out in the same place.

Johnny: You’re gonna be into it. The graphics are so cool.

Connor: I have to run it by my mom first. She always checks to make sure everything’s age-appropriate.

Johnny: Yeah, my mom’s the same way.

Connor: I bet they all read the same rulebook.

Johnny: But is chelsea, like, really strict?

Connor: On a scale of 1 to 10, she’s probably a solid 5.

Johnny: Yeah. That’s not that bad.

Connor: Don’t get me wrong. She won’t even let me start gaming till I do all my homework and chores.

Johnny: Yeah. Same.

Connor: It’s rough sometimes, but we’ve been apart before, like when she was in the hospital. And there was that time I was away in boarding school. So I can handle it when she’s bossy. At least it means we’re together.

Chance: I’m not gonna unload my problems on a bunch of kids.

Sharon: No, of course not. I was just thinking we could ask them what’s putting a smile on their face. Maybe they could show us adults how to do it.

Chance: What if they’re posting one of those dance videos? I can’t do it. That’s not in my capabilities. Mnh-mnh.

Sharon: There’s one way to find out.

Devon: Nate, you don’t need to wonder anything about my breakup with amanda, okay?

Nate: I can’t help being curious. The timing was so sudden.

Devon: Why are you acting like you care in the first place? You were ready to sell us out, and you now want me to believe that this concern is genuine?

Nate: It is. I witnessed up close all the obstacles you and amanda had to face to get where you were. You looked like the perfect couple.

Devon: Well, you clearly had no idea what was going on in our relationship.

Nate: True. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. But the last time we spoke, amanda was saying the most beautiful things about how much she loved you.

Devon: Nate, you’ve shown to me that you don’t give a damn about me. So, why are you interested? I am sad that the two of you didn’t work out. But it’s more than that now, given how evasive you’re being.

[ Scoffs ] It sure would be a shock to learn that you’ve been acting all holier than thou with me when you’ve got your own mistakes to answer for.

Devon: Oh, we’re calling what you did a “mistake” now?

Nate: I am tired of you dumping on me, saying I’m a horrible human being and what i did is unforgivable, when I’ve apologized repeatedly and sincerely.

Devon: Well, there’s the problem right there, is that you think by doing that, you can erase all the damage you’ve done.

Nate: I reached out to you, and you turned me down. Now you come to my place of business to get in my face for asking why your relationship crashed and burned. You took a casual remark I made to imani and blew it up. What did you do that’s so incendiary you’re afraid I’ll find out? I admitted what I planned to do, but you don’t have the guts to own up to whatever you actually did to amanda.

Lily: It just feels like there’s an underlying addictive component to what billy’s doing.

Daniel: Helping this friend.

Lily: Yeah, because he’s doing a good thing, helping someone through a hard time, you know? But it’s like it makes him feel good to be the one that she turns to, who has all the answers. And then the more he feels good, the more he wants that and he needs that.

Daniel: It’s white knight syndrome.

Lily: Yeah. I mean, it’s his sole focus in life. And then, of course, you know, he doesn’t see it, so when i bring it up to him…

Devon: Then you’re the bad guy trying to kill his buzz.

Lily: Exactly.

[ Sighs ] I mean, tell me I’m wrong. Tell me I’m misreading this whole situation.

Daniel: Mnh, I’m not gonna do that. I mean, I trust your gut over just about anybody else’S.

Lily: Yeah, right.

Daniel: No. Really. You are smart and sympathetic and thoughtful. I mean, if you’re seeing red flags, then… look, I know that you already know this, but I’m gonna say it anyway.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Oh, god. What?

Daniel: Billy is billy. You can’t change him, so don’t try. No one can really change anyone else. They have to want to change. So, where does that leave you?

Johnny: Okay, so, it’s called “moonlight mayhem” because the monsters only come out at night.

Connor: Werewolves, vampires. They all love the dark.

Chance: Kind of like crooks.

Johnny: Yeah, except criminals don’t literally burn to a crisp whenever they’re in the sun.

Sharon: He’s got a point.

Chance: Alright, well, can — can you teach me to play?

Connor: You really want to learn?

Chance: Yeah. I want to change things up, man. I want to take on some vampires and some werewolves. Let’s go.

Johnny: Alright.

Chance: Alright. Right here? Is that what I do?

Connor: Yeah.

Chance: Oh! Whoops.

Abby: Ohh. Come here. I know. You’re my baby. You’re my baby.

Dominic: [ Cooing ]

Abby: And I know that things are pretty weird right now. And I’m sorry about that. I really wish they weren’T. But maybe that’s just how things were meant for us. ‘Cause, to be honest, things were kind of weird before you were born, too. My parents weren’t together. And just like you, I had a second dad, and his name was brad. And he was wonderful.

[ Chuckles ] Want to know what else I had? I had a lot of love around me, a lot of people who were invested in making everything okay, just like you have. And I know that things have been different since chance moved out, but different doesn’t mean bad. Things are gonna get better.

Dominic: [ Cooing ]

Abby: Yeah. I know they will. Yeah.

Devon: So, here’s what you don’t seem to understand, nate, is that I don’t owe you anything at all — anything. I don’t owe you any respect. I don’t owe you any explanations. Literally nothing.

Nate: I hear you. You’ve made yourself loud and clear. I can’t even ask you about what’s going on in your life.

Devon: Now you’re catching on.

Nate: Got it. So, let me make myself clear. Since we’re not family and we’re not colleagues, there’s no reason for you to show up here again.

Devon: Well, don’t give me a reason to show up here again. Mind your business and stay out of my life. How about that?

[ Door opens ]

[ Door slams ]

Lily: You’re a good friend.

Devon: You know, some would say the best.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] I’m really happy we’ve been able to maintain that — through everything, you know? Marriages, divorces, children, time.

Daniel: Me too.

Lily: I’m really happy I can share things like this with you.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Do you feel better?

Lily: Yeah. Thank you.

Daniel: I’m glad I could help.

Lily: You know, the thing is, in spite of everything and how frustrated I’ve been, I really do want to believe that this is a rough patch and that billy and I will work through this.

Daniel: You know, I just want you to be happy. That’s what you deserve. And I really hope that billy is the one to help you find that happiness.

Chelsea: You deserved better. Johnny deserved better.

Billy: I appreciate your apology. I do. And I’m pretty sure dr. Malone didn’t want this to be a torturous situation for you.

Chelsea: It’s not — it’s not torture. It’s a release, actually. You know, all of the selfish, destructive things I did, all the reasons I hated myself, i would push them down. This has forced me to look at them and make amends and not let them control me.

Billy: Then it’s all worth it. And I’ve moved on. And the most important thing is johnny is happy, he’s healthy, and he’s thriving. And you can move on, too.

Chelsea: How can I?

Billy: Because if the same situation presented itself, i mean, you wouldn’t do the same thing, would you?

Chelsea: No, never.

Billy: Of course you wouldn’t because you’re not the same person. And what you just did was incredibly brave.

Chelsea: Telling the truth?

Billy: For taking responsibility for your actions and choices that you made a long time ago. But that was a lifetime ago. And you’ve made your amends. I acknowledge it, and i appreciate it.

Chelsea: Well, I’m not gonna ask for forgiveness because what I did was unforgivable. But I do want you to know I am raising connor to be a better person than I ever was. And I am not going to forget or excuse my behavior. But I am grateful that you’ve shown me a semblance of kindness. It’s more than I deserve.

Sharon: Morning.

Adam: Mm. It is morning. Not sure what qualifies as “good” yet.

Sharon: Well, you’re not gonna find out with that attitude.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] I need some of your sunshine and rainbows to rub off on me.

Sharon: Your usual?

Adam: Sure. Hey, I owe you a thanks for the other day, by the way. Your advice on how to talk to chelsea really helped. At least, for a while. Conversation started off good. I didn’t even mention billy. I just focused on chelsea and helping her find her footing. We, uh, came together for connor’s sake.

Sharon: Well, that all sounds positive.

Adam: It was. But, um, then I went too fast and I think I overwhelmed her and she shut me out again. So, ultimately, we took a step back.

Sharon: Well, don’t give up. Just keep going, doing what you’re doing, slow and steady. There are no shortcuts.

Adam: I’m trying. Easier said than done. Patience is not my forte.

Sharon: Yeah, I know. Um… but I commend the effort you’re putting into it.

Adam: Well, I’m just a little worried. I have to go pick up connor for school, and I don’t know what state chelsea is gonna be in when she opens the door.

Connor: Good morning, mom.

Chelsea: Uh — look at you, dressed and ready to go. And you have perfect timing because breakfast is ready, and I don’t think I burned a single pancake.

Connor: [ Chuckles ]

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Today’s gonna be a good day. I can tell already. Mm.

Lily: Thank you.

Billy: Hey. Hi.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: I’m, uh, glad I ran into you.

Lily: Really?

Billy: Yeah. You left so early this morning, I didn’t get a chance to tell you what I wanted to tell you at home.

Lily: Which is what?

Billy: “Good morning, beautiful.”

Summer: Well, that’s marchetti. What do you think?

Daniel: It’s impressive. I mean, especially your office. Pretty swanky.

Summer: Well, a comfortable work environment increases productivity.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. Yeah, well, you got enough room in there that you could run laps if you wanted to. As your brother, I’m very proud.

Summer: I’m really grateful. I mean, honestly, this is my dream job.

Daniel: Mm. I just — I got one question. What’s up with all the security? Are you guys concerned that the competition’s gonna steal your fashion secrets?

Summer: Nothing like that.

Daniel: Okay. Well, then what’s with the actual guard outside your door? Is there something I should be worried about?

Phyllis: I mean, is it wise to have this conversation here when kyle, summer, jack, or, god forbid, diane could walk in at any minute?

Nikki: Diane is in this house that often now?

Phyllis: Oh, apparently she spent the night here the other night because she was so afraid of stark.

Ashley: I assure you there’s nobody here but harrison and the nanny. Please sit down. It’s okay.

Nikki: Well, I would like to say something to start. I have been wondering if maybe we did go too far with diane. I mean, I don’t know what more we could do even if we wanted to.

Ashley: Well, that’s exactly my point.

Phyllis: Wait! No, no, no! I — we’ve come this far. We just need to put our heads together, and we can get this done.

Ashley: Okay. There’s no more plotting or planning that needs to be done because we’ve accomplished our goal. Diane is officially gone. Theo’s nose was cause for alarm, so dad brought

Summer: Actually, there have been a few instances of corporate espionage at jabot since you’ve been away.

Daniel: Hmm. I had no idea there was so much drama around here.

Summer: Speaking of exciting secrets, I want to hear about this mystery project that you pitched to chancellor-winters.

Daniel: We’re still keeping it under wraps for now. But, look, I can tell you, it’s not just one project. It’s this whole new and exciting platform for me, a real reinvention of myself, and, um, I couldn’t be more stoked.

Summer: I’m really happy for you — and intrigued.

Daniel: And I am beyond happy for you. But you know what? I don’t want to keep my very important sister from, you know, attending to whatever business you have here or taking care of whatever family matters you need to.

Summer: Well, everyone’s actually occupied right now. Kyle’s away on a short business trip, and harrison’s at home with the nanny, so…

Daniel: You know, I am also wowed by your seamless transition into motherhood.

Summer: Who would have thought, right? But, I mean, harrison makes being a mom easy. He is the sweetest guy alive. You probably know all about the parental pride thing, though, even though lucy’s not such a little girl anymore.

Daniel: Ugh. Tell me about it. You know, I’m just bracing myself. You and I are living proof of how wild teenagers can get.

Summer: True.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ]

Summer: But, hey, look at us now. We’re not still trouble, are we?

Lauren: You two? Never!

Daniel: Hey!

Lauren: I heard you were back in town.

Daniel: Yeah.

Lauren: Welcome back. Aww. How’s your dad doing?

Daniel: He’s good. He’s good. You know, I actually spoke with him recently, gave him a little nudge, trying to get him to come back to genoa city, too.

Lauren: Mm. So, were you successful?

Daniel: He wants to come back when the time is right.

Lauren: That’d be nice.

Daniel: Yeah.

Lauren: It’s been too long.

Daniel: It really has. Look, I got to get going, but I’ll see you soon. Bye.

Summer: Bye.

Lauren: Bye, sweetie.

[ Chuckles ] Ah, you must be thrilled to have daniel home.

Summer: I am.

Lauren: And I hope he is a welcome distraction for your mother.

Summer: What do you mean?

Lauren: Well, I am very concerned about phyllis.

Nikki: So, diane is truly gone?

Phyllis: Please tell us everything.

Ashley: Okay. Well, she left town to get away from stark. So, your plan worked, phyllis.

Phyllis: She just left, after all this time?

Ashley: I heard it from jack himself. I walked in, they were once again embracing, and it looked extremely intense.

Phyllis: Okay. Alright. We get it.

Ashley: And then she went back to the grand phoenix, she packed her things, and she left.

Phyllis: Where’d she go?

Ashley: I don’t know. I’m not sure I care.

Nikki: Wow. I mean, this is fantastic news. This awful chapter is finally over. Well, we all deserve a pat on the back. Diane is gone, our families are safe, and no one was hurt in the process.

Ashley: Mm. I don’t know if that’s true.

Connor: The bully from a few days ago was actually nice to me yesterday in class.

Chelsea: Well, that’s a good thing, right?

Connor: It’s probably because the guidance counselor made him, but it was still cool.

Chelsea: Still very cool. Listen, you got to take the win. I take that as another good sign. Also, a sign that my pancakes were a hit — your empty plate!

[ Both laugh ] Ah, yeah, no, I’m just, um — I’m feeling utterly refreshed after my first really good night of sleep last night, so I’m feeling good.

Connor: I like seeing you happy.

Chelsea: Aww. Well, I like feeling happy.

Connor: Especially because you were the opposite of happy for a while.

Chelsea: No, it’s — it’s okay. It’s okay. You can say what you’re thinking. You don’t need to be careful around me. It’s okay to talk about the bad stuff. I mean, we don’t need to talk about it all the time if you don’t want to, but we can’t pretend like it didn’t happen. If you’re ever feeling bad, you can talk to me. You can talk to your dad or any of your teachers. Okay?

Connor: Okay. I really am glad you’re feeling good.

Chelsea: I promise you, sweetheart, I am. I’ve got my friends and my therapy, and everything’s gonna be okay.

[ Knock on door ] Oh. That’s probably your dad. Hey. Come on in. You are right on time. We even have extra pancakes for you.

[ Door closes ]

Adam: Hey, buddy.

Connor: Hey, dad.

Adam: Well, you seem like you’re in a good mood this morning.

Connor: Mom’s feeling better.

Adam: Well, that is great. I’m — I’m glad to hear that.

Sharon: So, how are all of your classes going, faith? Yeah? Oh, which one? Ah. Well, you know what? Just stick with it, and you will figure out whether you’re interested in the subject or not. You know, that’s how you figure things out — trial and error. Wh– oh, no, no, no. No problem. We can talk later. I understand. We– I love you so much, too. I miss you. Bye.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Chelsea: I like the orange.

Sharon: Hey, everybody.

Chelsea: Hi.

Sharon: You heading to school?

Connor: Yep.

Chelsea: And you just might have an extra crimson lights treat in your backpack for later. There are tons of perks to this new apartment.

Adam: I have to agree. Sharon’s more than a landlord. She is a good family friend.

Sharon: You trying to butter me up to get your own treat?

[ Laughter ]

Adam: That’s a good idea. I might have to try that next time. But I would not want to be late for school. You want to, uh, give your mom a hug?

Chelsea: I love you so much. Have a great day.

Connor: You too, mom.

Chelsea: Ooh. Bye.

Sharon: Well, everybody seems like they’re upbeat today.

Chelsea: Yeah, we really are. I had a great therapy session yesterday, and, um, our conversation has taken me on a new course. It’s gonna be a challenge, but I’m ready to face it.

Sharon: Well, I’m sure you have the strength to take it head on and conquer it.

Chelsea: Well, I’m relieved you feel that way ’cause my next steps start with you.

Tide pods ultra oxi

Lily: Sorry we didn’t get to have a proper good morning. I, um — I had a breakfast meeting here that I had to run to.

Billy: Oh, yeah? Who were you meeting with?

Lily: Why? Do you think I’m lying?

Billy: No, that’s not what i meant by that.

Lily: I mean, the guy just canceled. I can show you the text if you want.

Billy: I don’t need to see the text, lily. Feels like we’re two ships passing in the night, doesn’t it?

Lily: Well, I got home late last night ’cause I was working. And the night before, you got home later than I did. I mean, where did you go? ‘Cause you said that you were going home after daniel and i ran into you.

Billy: I went to noah’s club to have a nightcap. I actually ran into adam there, which, you know, is never fun. We got into it, as we usually do.

Lily: Let me guess. Does he resent your ongoing involvement with chelsea?

Billy: Well, you clearly do. I never thought you and adam would be on the same side of anything.

Chelsea: My therapist said that part of the healing process should involve making amends, kind of like A.A. Not that I need to tell you this. I mean, you have a degree in psychology.

Sharon: Um, yeah, I’m aware of the theory, and — and I know that it can be helpful.

Chelsea: Yeah. Um… I’ve come to realize I have a level of self-hatred that I have to deal with. And I’ve ignored it for a long time. I kind of — kind of pushed it down, you know, so far down that I just forgot it was there. But now I need to address it.

Sharon: Well, that’s a very brave decision.

Chelsea: I’ve just, um… I’ve hated so many of the things I’ve done, starting with, you know, learning the con with my mom at a very young age. I tried to outrun the shame and the loathing, but it never worked. It would just fester and seep out in other ways… until it finally led to a very dangerous, life-threatening situation where I needed to face myself, the good, the bad, and the ugly. So, I’ve come to realize I need to acknowledge all of the things that I’ve done, and that starts with an apology to you. We have a — a pretty rough history, sharon, so I say this in no uncertain terms. I’m sorry.

Sharon: Thank you.

Chelsea: I mean, I’m sure none of this is news to you. You’ve been on the receiving end of my negative feelings for quite some time. All of the troubles I had with adam, I always blamed you. And it wasn’t fair. I realize now, at the time, i considered you golden and blessed. Meanwhile, you were dealing with your own illness. I realize now adam was helping you then the way people are helping me now. It’s my own fault that I didn’t see you as just a person going through her own trials and tribulations. I saw you as a threat. And so I reacted the way I was taught to.

Sharon: Well, I appreciate you saying that. Um, you know, I have my own part in what went on between us. Um, it was a complicated dynamic.

Chelsea: It definitely was.

[ Chuckles ] But I’m gonna take ownership of my part in it. I’m sorry for the things I did and why I did them. I am sorry for not trying to understand you better.

[ Sighs ] You’ve got a good heart, sharon. And the way you’ve reached out to me the past few weeks has literally been life-saving. So, um, I apologize for not seeing the true you earlier.

Sharon: Apology accepted. I know how much courage it takes to open yourself up and bare your soul and admit your mistakes. So, I hope that it helps lift your shame away. I know firsthand how damaging it can be.

Nikki: What are you saying, ashley? That someone was hurt in our quest to get rid of diane?

Phyllis: Not just someone. You’re talking about jack, right?

Ashley: Yes, I am. He is extremely angry with me, and I think I’ve potentially alienated him.

Phyllis: Well, I’ve done a lot more than potentially alienate jack before, so…

Nikki: I think we did the right thing. And I think that jack will see that in the long run. He may even thank us for it.

Lauren: Well, I’m sure you’ve noticed that your mother’s battle with diane has escalated. And I am very concerned that she will not let it go.

Summer: I —

Lauren: Oh, hi. Hi, jack.

Jack: Oh. Hello, lauren.

Summer: Jack. I was just about to tell lauren that she doesn’t need to worry about my mom’s tension with diane anymore because, as of this morning, diane no longer works at marchetti.

Lauren: Really? Uh, from what I had heard, she was doing a good job.

Jack: She was called out of town on a personal emergency.

Lauren: Hmm.

Summer: Yeah.

Lauren: Well, hope everything’s okay.

Jack: No, it’ll all be fine.

Summer: I don’t wish any ill will towards diane, but maybe with her leaving, things will be a bit more peaceful around here. Jack, I — we should probably go prep for that conference call.

Jack: Yeah. Lauren, good to see you.

Lauren: Nice to see you.

Summer: Bye, lauren.

Lauren: Bye.

Summer: [ Sighs ] So, I heard from kyle.

Jack: Yeah, so did I. Everything’s going according to plan. Now we just have to find a way to drive jeremy stark out of town before he does any more damage.

Score low prices and

Chelsea: Thank you for your forgiveness. And I hope it’s okay I say this. I really wish rey was here so i could apologize to him, too.

Sharon: Um…no, I don’t mind that you bring him up. I like when people talk about him. I think about him every day. And I like to believe that he can hear you right now, loud and clear. And he does not need an apology. I know firsthand that he forgave you a long time ago.

Chelsea: Excuse me. Hey, um, I was wondering if you could come back up to the apartment for a few minutes.

Adam: Um…yes. Absolutely.

Chelsea: Great. Bye, sharon.

Sharon: Bye.

Lily: Billy, haven’t we been through this already?

Billy: Yeah, we have, but i did want to continue our conversation last night. But you told me not to wait up for you.

Lily: Well, ’cause I didn’t have anything more to say.

Billy: [ Sighs ] I guess it’s just, I’m wondering why you, uh — you encouraged chelsea to keep her distance from me.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Billy, that is not how the conversation went. We talked very openly and honestly, and it was actually a good conversation. So, is she insinuating something different, like I drew a line in the sand for my man?

Billy: No, not exactly, no.

Chelsea: ‘Cause I told her i was rooting for her and that i support her. And she thanked and said the conversation meant a lot to her. So, I mean, she has no reason to blame me for anything.

Billy: She’s not blaming you, lily.

Lily: Oh, okay. So then you are?

Billy: I just find it strange that you and chelsea have one conversation and after that conversation she’s pushing me away, she’s not answering my text messages or, you know… I mean, you’re saying those two things aren’t related?

Lily: Billy, all I said was that she also has other people to support her. So, if she heard that as some kind of warning to stay away from you, then she misunderstood me.

Billy: Okay. I hear you. Um, let me ask you this, then. Why — why are you so troubled by this?

Lily: [ Scoffs ] I’m not troubled. I’m — I mean, clearly, you’re the one that’s troubled.

Billy: Well, it just feels like there’s got to be something else going on, lily. So, please just be honest with me. Do you feel threatened by my closeness to chelsea?

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] Did connor get off to school okay?

Adam: Yeah. Yeah, it was all good. So, can I ask you what happened while I was gone? When I came earlier, you were smiling, and now you’re a little emotional.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ] Well, I am emotional, but it’s not a bad thing. I’m feeling my feelings instead of running from them or suppressing them or drowning in them. I’m taking accountability for my actions and making amends. I just managed to get through with sharon, and now it’s your turn.

Adam: Chelsea, you don’t need to apologize to me. I think everyone knows the hell that I put you through.

Chelsea: We’ve been through a lot. And if down the line you want to make some amends, you are free to do so, but for now… it’s my turn.

Jack: I’m glad kyle was able to get diane to the cabin without drawing any suspicion.

Summer: [ Sighs ] Now we just need to keep the story alive and let people believe that she fled for fear of her life.

Jack: We are gonna have to be very careful, very vigilant. No one, especially jeremy stark, can find out where diane actually is. I also think we need to be careful talking around harrison. He could very easily repeat innocently something that he heard.

Summer: I am not going to say a word to anyone.

Jack: Okay. That includes your brother. I know it’s hard to keep things from daniel, but —

Summer: No, it’s not gonna be an issue. He was just here and he asked me about all of the extra security and I covered.

Jack: And it goes without saying mum is the word when it comes to ashley or nikki or phyllis. Given what they’ve pulled, god only knows what they would do with this information.

Summer: I get how important this is and what needs to be done.

[ Knock on door ]

[ Sighs ] Hey, mom.

Jack: Phyllis, what do you want? ()

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Do you struggle with occasional nerve aches

Phyllis: It’s another beautiful day at marchetti, jabot. What are we working on?

Jack: It has nothing to do with marchetti home.

Phyllis: Oh, okay. Well, how’s the launch of the new line coming?

Summer: It’s fine.

Phyllis: Good. Good. Well, it looks like we’re down a man. Um, is diane coming in late?

Jack: You can save the act, okay?

Phyllis: You’re right. It is an act. I really don’t care what’s going on with diane, to be honest.

Summer: Mom!

Jack: No, you only care that she’s gone. Well, you’ve succeeded.

Phyllis: Have I?

Jack: Diane left town.

Phyllis: Oh. Well, that is so good to know. She finally did the right thing. Good. Good. Well, it has nothing to do with me.

Jack: Oh, believe me, it wasn’t stark’s cleverness that brought him to our door looking for diane. No, someone called him and tipped him off. Apparently, that someone sounded a lot like you.

Phyllis: I’m sure diane put that thought in your head.

Jack: Just save it, okay? You won. She’s gone. I hope it was worth it.

Adam: Chelsea, you know you — you don’t have to do this. I feel like we’ve — we’ve put our issues behind us.

Chelsea: You may not need to receive an apology, but I need to give one.

Adam: Okay.

Chelsea: We had a — we had a great love once. But there were so many lies, so much deception along the way. I mean, even connor started out as a lie when I claimed you weren’t our little boy’s father.

Adam: We — we worked through that a long time ago.

Chelsea: In the past, I was always able to fool myself for a little while, but it would never last. Eventually, I would find a way to push you away or blame you for everything instead of looking at my own issues. I hid my pain and mental illness from you when I faked the severity of my stroke.

Adam: Yeah, well, chelsea, you weren’t in your right mind.

Chelsea: But still I did it.

[ Breathes deeply ] And it’s important to me that you know how much I regret that. I realize now you were just trying to help me. And I wouldn’t let you. I see now that I did a lot of things wrong, and I just — i want you to know from the bottom of my heart I’m truly sorry.

[ Exhales heavily ] See? Emotions don’t always have to be a bad thing.

[ Both laugh ]

Adam: Emotions? What are those again?

Chelsea: Ahh…

[ Chuckles ]

Adam: Chelsea, I accept your apology. And — and I admire your willingness to do this. And I’m impressed by your, uh, desire to clear up the past, on all fronts.

Chelsea: I appreciate that. It’s — it’s part of my journey now, you know? For so many years — for decades, really — my mantra was always, “do unto others before they do unto you,” or, “lie first and lie smart.”

Adam: Mm. That sounds like anita.

Chelsea: Ah, well, I’m very well aware of my mother’s influence, but through therapy, I am starting to see myself and my motivations more clearly. I would lessen my own pain by hurting others, or I would lean on others to fix me.

[ Exhales heavily ] So, clearly, I’ve got a long list of people I need to make amends to — victoria and, hopefully with her and billy’s permission, johnny.

Adam: Mm. I, uh, assume billy is on your list? I mean, this johnny stuff all started with him.

Chelsea: Yes. Billy will be the most difficult conversation I’m gonna have to have.

Lily: Billy, I am not threatened by chelsea in any way. But I know you well enough to know what’s really going on here, and this is about more than just friendship and support. This is about what you’re getting out of it, too.

Billy: And what do you think that is?

Lily: This is a new high for you. It’s a new thrill, but instead of gambling with money, you’re now gambling with something far riskier.

Billy: So, you’re suggesting that I’m gambling with chelsea’s life, lily?

Lily: No, you’re gambling with her recovery. And I don’t think you even realize that. And frankly, I’m really worried about where this crusade is gonna take you.

Billy: That’s so ridiculous. You think I’m looking for some kind of fix? And I’m gonna respectfully ask you to discuss your thoughts about my motives with me, not with chelsea.

Lily: I haven’t discussed it with chelsea. I never would — ’cause I am concerned about her. But believe it or not, I’m concerned about you, too, and your own spiral.

Billy: [ Scoffs ] There’s nothing to be concerned about, lily.

Lily: Good, because I can’t do this anymore. I have a lot of other people and things to worry about. And I want you to find yourself and find peace, but you’re asking a lot of me in exchange, and I can’t handle it anymore.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Lily: [ Breathes deeply ] Yep. Billy again to the rescue. If you still have symptoms of moderate

Billy: I’ll look at it later.

Lily: Billy, just see what she has to say ’cause it could be a genuine emergency and i don’t want to get blamed if something happens, okay? ‘Cause, like I said, I do care about what happens to her.

Billy: It can wait.

Lily: What did she say?

Billy: [ Clears throat ] “Are you free? I need to see you.”

Lily: Oh. Well, I guess she’s not as worried about my supposed warning to stay away from you as you are.

Billy: Lily, we’re having an important conversation, and i would really like to finish it.

Lily: I’ve said all that i can say.

Billy: Well, I haven’T.

Lily: Billy, it’s not the time, okay? You’re distracted. Just go see what chelsea needs, alright, the way that you always do when she reaches out.

Nikki: Thanks for letting me say hi to harrison.

Ashley: Sure.

Nikki: One thing we can agree on is that that little boy just lights up your heart.

Ashley: He does. I have to tell you, though, i felt bad. He kept asking where dee dee was. You know, it’s dee dee this and dee dee that.

Nikki: Yeah, but you know what? He is better off without diane’s destructive influence over him. I, for one, have no regrets. I mean, the three of us were able to band together for a common cause and probably prevent a lot of pain down the road. So, I guess I won’t be seeing you as often now that we have accomplished our mission. But at least it’s good to know that we can work together if that ever becomes necessary again.

Ashley: Let’s hope it doesn’t, right?

[ Door slams ]

Jack: Sorry to interrupt. I can only guess I walked in on the two of you celebrating diane’s departure. So, where’s the, uh, sparkling cider and the congratulatory toasts?

Summer: You know, I have to get back to work. I’ve got a lot to do since kyle’s away for a few days.

Phyllis: Hold on. Okay. Hold on for a second. Um, you don’t share jack’s anger toward me regarding diane, do you?

Summer: [ Scoffs ] What do you want me to say, mom?

Phyllis: I want you to say that diane did the right thing by leaving town. It was her choice, summer.

Summer: I don’t think that’s true.

Phyllis: Okay, well, maybe she decided to leave town because of her ex-con ex-lover and she was afraid of retaliation.

Summer: And you’re the one that brought that criminal to our doorstep.

Phyllis: Wait a second. What is happening here? Just not that long ago, you said you saw the light regarding diane. You said diane needed to be stopped. You said that, right?

Summer: Yeah. Yeah, I said that. And you know what? I’m still angry about diane’s nonstop parade of untruths, but things changed the second you brought this very real danger into our lives!

Phyllis: I did not bring a danger into our lives! Diane brought him into our lives! Now diane’s gone. Now the danger can leave.

Summer: That’s not the point, mom. What you did put us all at risk, harrison included.

Phyllis: I would never put that boy in harm’s way. I would never do that.

Summer: Except for the fact that you did! You did that! So I don’t know what you want me to do. Please do not expect me to defend you to jack or kyle about this.

Phyllis: So you don’t even want to try to see my side, right?

Summer: Your side is indefensible.

[ Gasps ]

[ Stammers ] Mr. Stark, you got up here again, um, past security. Wow.

Jeremy: Yeah. Wow. What can I say? I can be very persuasive. Hi, I’m karen.

Daniel: Hey. Glad I bumped into you.

Lily: Hey.

Daniel: Buy you a cup of coffee?

Lily: Uh…

Daniel: Or maybe a shot of tequila? I know it’s a little early, but you look like you could use that.

Lily: [ Chuckles ] Sorry. It’s not you.

Daniel: Then what’s wrong?

Lily: Um, I can’t really talk about it, and I’m in a rush, so maybe a rain check on the coffee.

Daniel: Okay. I-I don’t want to intrude, but, you know, you’re clearly upset about something. You know you can tell me anything, right?

Chelsea: Hey. Thanks for coming.

Billy: Hi. Is, uh — is everything alright? Is — did something happened?

Chelsea: I’m fine. I’m fine.

Billy: Okay. Well, that’s a relief.

Chelsea: I asked you to come by because my therapist assigned me a new mission — to make amends. It’s been difficult, but also really healing. And I feel like I’m making important progress.

Billy: I’m glad to hear that. I’m sure that’s been, uh, very challenging.

Chelsea: You’re next on my list. And it’s gonna be a very difficult conversation, for obvious reasons. I knew you before anybody else in genoa city, and the apology i owe you — I don’t know how I’m gonna find the words.

Nikki: Ashley merely filled me in on diane’s exit from genoa city. I mean, that’s not really that big of a loss, is it?

Jack: I don’t know. Ask diane’s son, her grandson.

Ashley: Oh, please. Don’t try to lay a guilt trip on us, jack. Diane is a grown woman, and she left of her own free will.

Jack: She left to protect herself and the rest of us from a hardened criminal. You two may have succeeded in driving your old enemy out of town. You also broke kyle’s heart and harrison’s in the process. Good for you.

Jeremy: I’m looking for diane.

Phyllis: Well, she’s not here, I’m afraid.

Jeremy: Hmm. That’s puzzling.

Phyllis: Sorry. Diane and I a-aren’t friends.

Jeremy: She didn’t show up for work, and apparently she didn’t stay at her hotel suite last night.

Phyllis: That’s news to me. I-I don’t know where she is.

Jeremy: You were the one who called to alert me about diane, weren’t you? Which means that there’s no love lost between you and my ex. So, why don’t we go somewhere we can speak more privately?

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At Crimson Lights, Adam thanks Sharon and tells her that he took her advice on how to handle things with Chelsea.

Upstairs at the apartment, Chelsea makes a stack of pancakes for Connor and cheerfully assures him that it will be a good day.  Connor tells her that the bully at school who picked on him about her was nice to him in class the previous day.  Connor also tells her that he is glad to see her being happy.

At Jabot, Summer gives her brother Daniel a tour of the Marchetti offices. He’s impressed with his younger sister. He asks her about the extra security and if it’s because of the  competition trying to steal Marchetti’s ideas. Summer deflects his question by telling him that there have been a few incidents of “corporate espionage.”

In private, Summer and Jack talk about how Kyle got Diane to the cabin safely, that they have to keep the truth about her whereabouts to themselves and get rid of Jeremy before he does any further damage.

Chelsea goes downstairs to Crimson Lights and says goodbye to Connor as Adam takes him to school. Chelsea then talks with Sharon, telling Sharon that part of her therapy is to make amends with those she has caused problems for. Chelsea apologizes to Sharon about their tumultuous past. She also mentions that Sharon had her own illness to deal with. She adds that she’s sorry for not seeing “the true Sharon” sooner. Sharon looks stunned as she accepts Chelsea’s apology.

Chelsea tells Sharon that she wishes she could apologize to Rey. Sharon says that he can hear her, although he would insist that he doesn’t need an apology from her.

After this, Chelsea talks with Adam about their troubled past.  She apologizes about her lie about Adam not being Connor’s biological father. She also say she’s sorry for other things she put him through, including faking the severity of her stroke. Adam accepts Chelsea’s apology.

At Society, Billy wants to talk to Lily because she got up and left the condo very early, before he had a chance to tell her a morning greeting. Lily is standoffish and appears peeved. She tries to shut Billy out but he is persistent. He asks Lily about her conversation with Chelsea and why she recommended that  Chelsea keep her distance. Lily tells him that she didn’t do that and that Chelsea may have misunderstood. Billy counters that Chelsea isn’t blaming Lily. There’s tension between Lily and Billy and he asks her if she feels threatened by his closeness to Chelsea. Lily tells him no, she’s not.

Lily tells Billy that she thinks he is gambling with Chelsea’s recovery and feeling a high from it. He tells her that he’s not getting some sort of fix from helping Chelsea. Lily is not surprised at all when he gets a text from Chelsea. Lily tells him to go check on Chelsea, that it could be something serious.

Once Billy’s in Chelsea’s apartment, she gives him an update on her mission to make amends with people she has wronged.  She tells Billy that he’s next on her list but she says she’s not sure she can find the words for her apology to him.

Daniel stops by Society and is happy when he bumps into Lily there. He offers to buy her a cup of coffee, sees the expression on her face and says that she could probably use a shot of tequila. Daniel can tell that Lily is upset and lets her know she can tell him anything.

At the Abbott house, Ashley tells Phyllis and Nikki that Diane is officially gone. Phyllis and Nikki are elated, as is Ashley, but she is also concerned that she has alienated Jack.  She also mentions that she feels bad because Harrison keeps asking questions about “DiDi,” who he loves and misses. Nikki, on the other hand, says that she feels Harrison is better off without Diane’s destructive influence.

Over at Jabot, Phyllis shows up in Jack’s office and feigns not knowing about Diane’s departure.  Jack tells her that he holds her responsible for tipping Jeremy off about where Diane was and for getting Diane to leave town. Jack tells Phyllis that he hopes it was worth it and stomps out of the office.

Summer goes off on her mother and tells her that what she did to drive Diane out of Genoa City was indefensible.

Jeremy gets past Jabot security again and happens upon Phyllis in Jack’s office. He tells her that he is looking for Diane.  Phyllis says that she doesn’t know where Diane is since they are not friends.

He says that Diane didn’t show up for work, nor was she in her hotel suite the previous night. He also mentions that Phyllis was the one who let him know where Diane was and that he wants to go somewhere with her so they can talk more privately. Phyllis appears uneasy and unnerved.
