Johnny and Chanel hold their baby as Paulina stands near. Johnny talks about the baby having Chanel’s eyes and says he’s so glad she’s here as Chanel calls her their miracle.

Steve goes to the hospital to bring Kayla lunch. Kayla informs him that Lexie is gone as they hug.

Marlena is in her office, on the phone with her daughter Sami. Marlena says she’s sure Abe and Theo would like to hear from her, but suggests waiting a day. Marlena agrees to pass on her condolences as she hangs up. Cat then arrives, apologizing for being late but sees Marlena’s been crying and asks if everything is okay. Marlena informs Cat that they’ve lost Lexie.

Abe and Theo remain in Lexie’s now empty hospital room as Abe hugs Theo.

EJ returns home to the DiMera Mansion with three envelopes addressed to Abe, Theo, and Lexie. Dr. Rolf then enters behind EJ which shocks him.

Cat tells Marlena that she knows how close she and Lexie were, so she offers to reschedule her hypnosis session but Marlena says no. Marlena thanks Cat for telling her that she thought Lexie might be in the DiMera secret room because she was then able to tell Theo, making it possible for him to find his mother. Marlena is grateful that Abe and Theo were able to be with Lexie, so she did not die alone. Cat is glad she was able to help. Cat says her intel does no good until she’s able to build a case against EJ.

EJ thought Dr. Rolf left town. Dr. Rolf responds that he couldn’t stay away during such a tragic time for the DiMera family and gives his condolences. EJ assumes Dr. Rolf was keeping tabs on Lexie through the hospital computer system. Dr. Rolf confirms he was monitoring her progress. He knew she was gravely ill, but he hoped she would have more time and that the spirit of the Phoenix that lives inside all DiMeras could not be so readily defeated. EJ argues that he couldn’t be more wrong about his family’s spirit and argues that Dr. Rolf grossly overestimated his miracle drug, declaring that it cost Lexie her life.

Theo finishes a call with Celeste and tells Abe that she’s worried about them, but she’s leaning on her faith. Abe decides to go get coffee and exits the room. Theo approaches the empty bed and flashes back to Lexie’s final lullaby.

Johnny calls Sami and tells her that his baby is perfect. Johnny says they haven’t named the baby yet, but promises Sami will be the first to know. Johnny says he loves her as they hang up. Paulina points out that she’s not the only one wondering what the baby’s name is. Chanel responds that they haven’t officially decided, but they did think of one. Chanel tells her they thought of Olivia, after Paulina’s mom. Johnny says they couldn’t think of anyone they’d want to honor more. Paulina assures that her mom will be thrilled. Johnny adds that now that they have to decide on a middle name. Paulina decides to give them time alone with their daughter. Paulina says she’ll see them later and she can’t wait to tell her mom what a beautiful namesake she has as she then exits. Johnny comments that he noticed Chanel’s mood changed abruptly. Chanel responds that it’s just disappointing that she’s not able to nurse her because of the chemo as she was really looking forward to it. Johnny says the important thing is that they have a healthy baby, who is so loved and she has the sweetest mom on the planet. Chanel thanks him and says she has a pretty great dad too. Johnny declares they are so blessed.

Paulina goes over to Abe getting coffee and announces that she has a new granddaughter. Abe tells her that’s wonderful and congratulates her. Abe asks if Chanel and the baby are doing well. Paulina confirms they are and asks about Lexie. Abe reveals that Lexie died a little while ago. Steve tells Kayla that something’s not right here as it’s too coincidental that Lexie was found in the secret room just as Kristen went missing. Kayla brings up that Lexie told her that Kristen talked her out of leaving town. Steve questions Kristen then disappearing and not spending her last time with her sister. Steve brings up that Brady told him that Kristen said she left town voluntarily, but that it had something to do with EJ, so that casts a lot of doubt on the voluntarily part. Steve declares that either way, he’s going to get to the truth, no matter how far it’s buried. Abe tells Paulina that when he and Theo got Lexie back, he never imagined their time together would be so brief. Paulina is sure that he would still have committed to her fully if he had known because she was the love of his life, so she can’t imagine he would’ve done anything different. Abe agrees that he wouldn’t have.

Marlena tells Cat that she’s worried about the position she’s put herself in, to be spying on EJ in his own home. Cat appreciates her concern, but says the ISA trains them to use every advantage at their disposal no matter the risk. Cat declares that she intends to take down EJ and that’s what she is going to do. Marlena then begins the hypnosis.

EJ says he was a damn fool to trust Dr. Rolf and allow him to use his sister as a human guinea pig, losing billions of dollars in the process. EJ warns Dr. Rolf to reconsider doing anything rash in the name of science. Dr. Rolf agrees not to ever again after devoting so much of his life to this experiment and now it’s reached it’s end and will not be revisited for a very long time, if ever. Dr. Rolf then exits.

Kayla hugs Abe and tells him that she’s so sorry. Steve asks how Theo is doing. Abe responds that he’s strong but it’s hard for him to process complex emotions and nothing could be more complex than this. Steve and Kayla assure they are there for them and anything they need. Abe decides to go check on Theo and heads back to Lexie’s hospital room, where Theo is finishing a call with Claire. Theo tells Abe that Claire sends her condolences. Abe says it was good of her to call. Abe informs Theo that Chanel had a baby girl. Theo says that’s great and decides he should go check in on them. Theo invites Abe to come with him, but Abe says he’ll come down later. After Theo exits, Abe places his wedding ring on the end table with Lexie’s necklace and breaks down crying as he flashes back to he and Lexie renewing their vows.

Marlena hypnotizes Cat to being back at the clinic in Italy after she finished reading to EJ and asks her what happened next. Cat recalls talking to EJ about how unfair it was for them to end up in that situation because of running in to Clyde Weston. Cat had said then that she should’ve known Clyde would come for retribution after he found out she was ISA. Marlena then decides to bring Cat out of hypnosis.

EJ goes to the hospital and joins Abe in Lexie’s hospital room, saying he’s sorry to disturb him and just wanted to offer his condolences. Abe gives his condolences to EJ as well on losing his sister. EJ hands Abe the three envelopes from Lexie that included her goodbye letters, one for Abe, one for Theo, and one of her final wishes. Abe opens Lexie’s final wishes and sees that she doesn’t want a funeral, but instead for them to throw a party as a celebration of life as she had the best family and friends.

Theo goes to Johnny and Chanel’s room to meet their baby, Olivia. Theo congratulates them and says it’s like Lexie said about the circle of life where one life ends and another begins. Theo adds that Lexie was happy that Olivia was being born in to such a loving family, including he and Abe as Lexie wanted them to know she was more than okay with that. Chanel asks Theo what’s going on. Theo says he’s sorry to tell them this today of all days, but they lost Lexie a little while ago.

EJ runs in to Kayla and Steve, who tell him that they are sorry about Lexie. Dr. Rolf sneaks by dressed as a doctor. EJ then tells Kayla and Steve that Dr. Rolf will not be performing any experiments at the hospital. Kayla says that goes without saying. EJ knows she’s chomping at the bit to have Gwen take over the hospital. Kayla feels everyone here is excited for new ownership and a new direction. EJ advises her to temper her expectations since Gwen comes with baggage as he walks away.

Chanel doesn’t understand as she thought Lexie was in South Africa. Theo informs her that she never made it. Theo says she should know that Lexie was comforted knowing that baby Olivia’s life was starting. Chanel then decides on Alexandra as Olivia’s middle name after Lexie, which Johnny calls a great idea. Theo says he’s sure Lexie would love that.

As Marlena brings Cat out of hypnosis, Cat is shocked to remember that she told EJ that she was ISA. Marlena points out that Cat had been through a terrible ordeal and was looking for someone to connect with, while EJ was injured and in a coma so he was no threat to her. Cat worries that if EJ ever remembers that she told him that she was ISA, her mission could be compromised and her life could be in danger. Marlena suggests Cat cut off all contact with EJ now. Marlena advises Cat to also talk to Andrew and Rafe about what she remembered, sooner rather than later.

Theo tells Olivia, Chanel, and Johnny that he will see them again soon. Chanel tells him that he’s welcome anytime and that they’d love to have him over for dinner. Theo says he would like that and exits right as EJ is entering the room. Johnny introduces EJ to his new granddaughter, Olivia Alexandra. EJ says that’s lovely and that Lexie would be touched. EJ admits he’s surprised that Paulina signed off on that. Chanel admits they haven’t told her yet, but hope that she will. EJ encourages that Olivia will live up to her two strong namesakes.

Theo joins Abe in Lexie’s hospital room and informs him that he just met Olivia Alexandra, revealing that after he told them about Lexie, Chanel decided on the middle name on the spot. Abe calls that so kind of her. Abe gives Theo his letter from Lexie, which he reads. Abe then reads his letter from Lexie as well.

Marlena visits Chanel and Johnny as she holds Olivia. Kayla comes in and says she sees Marlena is already bonding with her new great granddaughter. Chanel asks about Olivia’s blood work. Kayla reveals that there are no ill effects from the chemo which relieves Chanel and Johnny, as Kayla confirms that going in to labor early had no effect as well. Kayla says they will run further tests to be safe, but sums it up that Chanel and Olivia are doing just fine.

Abe finishes a call with Roman as Marlena approaches and hugs him, saying she’s so sorry. Abe tells Marlena that she’s set an example for him with the way she’s dealt with her loss. Abe admires her strength and courage. Marlena thanks him and says she has an amazing family and good friends that keep her strong. Abe says this was a gift and a miracle to have Lexie back home, even for such a brief time. Marlena talks about having John in her dreams quite often, as Abe will have Lexie in his. Abe agrees, always and forever as he hugs Marlena.

Abe and Theo return home, where the house is still decorated from Christmas in July.

Chanel tells Johnny that she’s so happy and relieved that their baby is here and healthy. Chanel adds that they also have their wonderful son at home, but she also feels sad that Abe and Theo just lost somebody they loved so much. Chanel hopes Paulina will be okay with Alexandra as the baby’s middle name. Johnny assures that she will be and calls it a really kind thing she did. Johnny says he could tell Theo was touched. Johnny doesn’t think Abe and Theo would want their loss to make their birth any less joyful. Johnny encourages that no one deserves happiness more than Chanel after all she has been through. Chanel guesses she can be sad for Abe and Theo while happy for herself and Johnny at the same time. Johnny says they have been blessed with a beautiful daughter and he knows that she’s named after two pretty great women, but he’s hoping she grows up to be just like Chanel, who he calls the best person he knows. Chanel tells Johnny that she loves him as they kiss.

EJ approaches Marlena at the hospital and assumes she’s met the latest addition to their family. Marlena confirms that she has and calls it a bittersweet day. EJ states that God’s ways are often difficult to comprehend. Marlena responds that she was thinking it was more about EJ’s ways than God’s way. EJ asks if she’s saying he shouldn’t have tried to give Lexie a second chance at life. Marlena responds that Stefano had an obsession with trying to bring people back from the dead that he never quite gave up on. Marlena declares that now that Stefano is gone, she hopes that obsession can die with him for everybody’s sake.

Dr. Rolf enters the lab full of pods.

EJ runs in to Cat at the hospital. Cat didn’t realize he was there and asks how he’s feeling. EJ responds that he’s fine physically and aside from grieving the loss of his sister, he’s afraid they have their work cut out for them with Gwen breathing down his neck to buy the hospital out from under him, thanks to the damn ISA. Cat asks what he means. EJ explains that if not for the ISA’s interference, Gwen might still be in Alamainia, but now she’s back in Salem because the ISA pointed Rafe directly to the house where Gwen was being held captive and now she’s back in town, being a thorn in his side as always.

Dr. Rolf declares that he’s sorry to his “friends” in the lab, but he has to say goodbye. Dr. Rolf tells those in the pods to rest in peace as he shuts off the lights and exits.

Abe, Theo, and Kayla are with Lexie in her hospital room. Kayla asks how she is feeling. Lexie admits the blood transfusions have helped. Kayla says that’s what they hoped, so she would be comfortable and have more time with her family. Lexie points out that she knows it’s not much time. Abe says if someone told him a few months ago that he’d just get minutes with her, he would have been over the moon. Theo agrees that having her back has been a blessing. Theo tells Lexie not to worry about them seeing her like this and talks about how she taught them to be strong. Theo says to just be grateful for this time they have together.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ is on the phone with Rita about trying to locate Kristen. EJ notes that as long as Kristen’s whereabouts are unknown, she’s a threat to him and his family. EJ says he now has to check on his other sister and hopes she hasn’t told anyone about his plan for Kristen.

Jada goes to the hospital to see Kayla and says she just spoke with Abe and Theo, who believe EJ was holding Lexie at the DiMera Mansion against her will. Kayla says she heard that too. Jada asks if Lexie said anything about why she was there. Kayla responds that Lexie just said she wanted to leave town to die because she didn’t want Abe and Theo to witness that, but Kristen talked her out of it and then EJ found her. Kayla adds that she didn’t tell her anything more as she was weak and she didn’t want to push it. Jada asks if she can speak with Lexie. Kayla says not yet as she’s spending time with her family and they are on borrowed time. Jada says she completely understands, so she’ll have to question EJ first then.

Chanel tells Johnny that she thinks her water just broke, but Johnny reveals that it’s blood. Paulina and Lani enter, but Johnny says to go get Kayla now, so Lani rushes back out. Lani returns with Kayla. Johnny tells Kayla that Chanel is bleeding. Kayla orders Johnny to stay but everyone else to leave the room so Lani takes Paulina out. Chanel questions why this is happening. Kayla says that bleeding during labor is common and treatable, so she says to stay calm while she checks it out. Chanel tells Johnny that she’s scared while he encourages it will be alright.

Lani panics to Paulina that this is exactly what happened with her first baby. Eli arrives and says he heard Chanel was in labor, so he asks if they have a baby. Lani hugs Eli as she cries.

EJ goes to leave the DiMera Mansion as Jada arrives. EJ tells her that he was just heading to the hospital. Jada brings up that EJ couldn’t talk earlier because he was deathly ill with the flu. EJ responds that he’s made a full recovery and argues that he never said he was deathly ill. Jada remarks that he was just too sick to speak to the police. EJ asks if she’s implying he has something to hide. Jada responds that he always has something to hide, most recently his sister.

Lexie finishes a video chat with her mother Celeste, who told her the stars will carry her onward. Abe asks if there’s anything else he can do for Lexie. Lexie requests gummi bears from the vending machine. Theo offers to get them but Abe tells him to stay with his mother as he exits. Lexie asks how Theo is doing as she knows it’s a lot to process. Theo tells her not to worry about him as he’s fine and just hates that she has to go through all of this again. Theo can’t help but wonder what happened with EJ and Kristen. Theo questions why EJ hid Lexie in the mansion.

Lani tells Eli about seeing the blood while Eli encourages staying positive as Paulina talks about Kayla staying positive. Eli suggests getting some air. Lani doesn’t want to leave Chanel but Paulina tells her to go since they aren’t allowed in Chanel’s room anyway. Lani agrees to go for a minute. Paulina says she’ll text her right away if there’s any change, so Eli and Lani exit. Abe then comes over and asks Paulina what’s wrong. Paulina tells Abe that Chanel has had complications. Abe says he’s so sorry. Paulina admits that she’s so scared for Chanel and the baby. Abe hugs Paulina as she cries.

Eli and Lani walk through the town square as Lani talks about how scared Chanel looked and she knows she was thinking of how it turned out for them as they flash back to losing their baby. Lani tells Eli that it’s not just the baby that she’s worried about because she almost died from losing that much blood. Eli argues that Lani pulled through while Lani points out that she wasn’t sick. Lani says she’s been terrified of losing her sister to cancer and worries about the statistics. Eli encourages that Chanel has an expert team taking care of her. Lani argues that she did too.

Kayla tells Chanel and Johnny that the good news is that the blood was caused by a mild vaginal tear so it was nothing serious at all and she will do her best to control the bleeding, leaving Chanel and Johnny relieved.

EJ assures Jada that he has no idea where Kristen is. Jada doubts that but says this isn’t about Kristen, but about Lexie as she has reason to believe that he was holding her in his basement against her will and denying her medical treatment. EJ questions her reasoning. Jada responds that she has eye witness accounts from Theo, Abe, and Chad. EJ points out that she doesn’t have a statement from Lexie and suggests talking to her as he’s sure she will clear everything right up. EJ tries to leave but Jada says not so fast.

Lexie tells Theo that she wanted to spare he and Abe from the pain of losing her again, so she convinced herself that it would be better to leave town while she was still able to, but EJ found her before she could go and wouldn’t let her leave or be alone and insisted on bringing her back to the mansion. Theo questions not bringing her to the hospital where his miracle drug would be found to be a failure. Lexie insists that EJ wanted her to tell Theo and Abe, but she wouldn’t and she made EJ promise that he wouldn’t either as her dying wish. Lexie declares that EJ is no saint and is more like Stefano than she hoped he would be, but tells Theo not to blame him for this as he’s the reason they were given this time together which has been such a blessing.

Abe tells Paulina that Kayla is the best there is and will take good care of Chanel. Paulina wishes she could be with her. Paulina apologizes for going on about Chanel without asking about Lexie. Paulina asks if there’s any change. Abe says that Kayla took some supportive measures to buy them some time. Johnny comes out and tells Paulina that Chanel and the baby are okay as the bleeding was not that serious and Kayla was able to stop it. Paulina excitedly hugs him as she thanks God. Paulina asks if they can go back in which Johnny confirms. Abe sends his love and says to tell Chanel that they are all pulling for her. Paulina tells him to tell Lexie the same.

Eli and Lani sit together in the town square until Lani gets a text from Paulina that Chanel and the baby are okay which relieves them.

Jada questions why EJ thought she was talking about Kristen when she asked about his sister. EJ says it’s because she’s missing and he’s used to the Salem police department assuming the worst of him. Jada asks if he knows why Kristen left. EJ says he doesn’t as he is not her confidant and they hardly ever speak. Jada brings up Gwen and Dimitri, saying that Gwen says that they held Dimitri against his will so they could get his inheritance. EJ comments on Gwen lying and says even if she wasn’t, there’d be no proving that in court. EJ then tells Jada that he needs to get to the hospital because his sister is running out of time as he exits the mansion.

Theo asks Lexie what about Kristen and where she is now, but Abe returns to the room. Abe says they were out of gummi bears so he got blueberries and trail mix. Lexie notes that Abe was gone a long time and guesses he searched every vending machine. Abe admits he ran in to Paulina. Theo asks if Chanel had the baby. Abe says not yet. Lexie says that Paulina must be so excited for another grandchild. Lexie adds that it warms her heart to know that baby will have such a great, big, loving family including Abe and Theo.

Paulina and Johnny sit with Chanel. Kayla says there is no immediate further risk but there could be further tearing during delivery. Chanel asks if she will need a C-section. Kayla says she’s going to consult with her OBG about getting the labor moving. Chanel assures that she can handle the pain and will do whatever it takes to keep her and her baby safe.

EJ arrives at the hospital and runs in to Eli and Lani. EJ asks what they are doing there. Lani informs him that Chanel is in labor, surprised that Johnny didn’t tell him. EJ confirms this is the first he’s heard of it as he’s been under the weather and out of touch. EJ calls it wonderful news that another DiMera is about to be born. EJ decides he should check on his sister in the meantime as he’s sure Johnny will keep him updated.

Theo shows Lexie some photos he took while in South Africa. EJ then enters the room. Abe angrily tells him to get the hell out. Theo stops him and informs Abe that Lexie revealed to him that it wasn’t EJ’s idea to hide her in the tunnels, but her own idea. Abe can’t believe it, but Lexie confirms it’s true. Lexie then asks for a moment alone with EJ. Theo tells Abe they will go take a walk. Abe warns EJ about hurting Lexie as he and Theo exit. EJ sits with Lexie and says he’s sure this is a very difficult time for her. Lexie tells EJ that she didn’t expect to, but she feels very lucky to spending the time with her loved ones. EJ is glad she’s come around to feeling that way. EJ says there’s so many things he wants to say to her, starting with that he’s sorry.

Johnny and Paulina sit with Chanel as she continues labor. Chanel thinks she needs to push, so Paulina runs to get the doctor. Chanel and Johnny talk about being ready to meet their baby.

Lexie tells EJ no apologies and says that because of what he did, she got more time with her family and she wouldn’t change that for the world. Lexie knows EJ wanted to honor her wishes. EJ says he did his best. Lexie says she realizes now that she was wrong for wanting to spare Abe and Theo this time with her. Lexie thanks God that Theo found her. Lexie tells EJ that he should know that she didn’t tell anyone about what he has planned for Kristen, because she wants him to fix it and stop this war with Kristen. Lexie urges EJ to repair whatever damage has been done to their relationship and to be a better man, calling it the last thing she’ll ever ask of him. EJ promises to try. Lexie says she knows she was angry before, but she’s so grateful to EJ for bringing her back, even for this brief time. EJ holds back tears as Lexie then flatlines. EJ then screams for a doctor to come help. Abe and Theo return with Kayla as she calls for a code blue.

Chanel continues going through labor.

Paulina calls her mom and says her newest great grandbaby is about to make an appearance. Paulina promises to send pictures as she hangs up. Paulina tells Lani and Eli that her mom told her not to let EJ near her great grandbaby. Eli mentions that they ran in to EJ earlier. Lani notes that EJ didn’t seem to know Chanel was in labor and questions what that’s about as she thought he and Johnny had mended fences. Paulina responds that she doesn’t know what’s going on between Johnny and EJ, but declares she will heed her mother’s advice and not let EJ near any of her grandchildren.

Kayla brings Abe, Theo, and EJ back in to Lexie’s hospital room. Kayla states that they were able to stabilize her, but the blood transfusions were not giving the lasting effects they hoped for. EJ asks what she is saying. Kayla declares that it’s time to say their goodbyes because the end is near. EJ is sure they’d like a moment of privacy. EJ steps forward and tells Lexie that he loves her. Lexie wakes up with a smile and responds that she loves him. EJ kisses her forehead and then leaves the room. Abe and Theo join Lexie’s side, assuring her they are there as Abe holds Lexie’s hand.

The nurse tells Chanel they are in the home stretch as she continues pushing through labor.

Abe tearfully tells Lexie about thinking of their wedding day so many years ago and he still remembers her walking down the aisle, thinking how lucky he was to be marrying an extraordinary woman, who gave him love, joy, and a family. Abe is sorry they didn’t get back to Paris, but says they got to spend Christmas together even if it was in July. Lexie calls them wonderful memories. Abe declares that every moment with her is a wonderful memory, even this one.

Chanel gives one more push and officially gives birth to a baby girl.

Theo sits with Lexie and recalls when he was in Kindergarten and had to speak to the class about his mom, he said his mom was a superhero because his dad told him that doctors were superheroes. Theo tearfully talks about Lexie bringing him in to this world, protecting him, and giving him the strength he needs.

Chanel and Johnny hold their new baby girl. The nurses tell them that everything looks fine and Chanel’s vitals are where they should be. Chanel welcomes her baby girl to the world.

Theo remembers when he was little, how Lexie used to sing to him all the time. Lexie begins singing one of those lullabies.

Johnny sings the lullaby as he and Chanel hold their baby.

Lexie sings the lyric “goodbye and goodnight” as she then passes away.

Eli, Lani, and Paulina join Johnny and Chanel in celebrating their new baby.

Theo tells Lexie that he loves her as Abe tells Lexie to rest in peace. Abe hugs Theo as Kayla covers Lexie with a blanket while EJ watches through the window.

Johnny tells Chanel that she did it. Chanel says she did with his help. Johnny says he knew she was tough and strong, but she outdid herself here. Chanel says she knew at the end of labor, she would receive the biggest blessing of her life and that’s what kept her strong. Chanel adds that having Johnny cheering her on and being positive kept her strong too. Chanel calls herself the luckiest woman in the world as they kiss.

Johnny sits at Chanel’s side in the hospital and asks if there’s anything he can do for her. Chanel tells him to just keep holding her hand. Kayla comes in with more blood to keep her strong, while Chanel worries about what it’s doing to her baby.

Joy sits in her hospital bed when she gets a call from her sister Chloe. Joy claims everything is good with her.

Alex enters a hospital waiting room with Kelsey, where he finds Stephanie, who says she’s also there to donate blood. Alex says he will come back later but Stephanie stops him.

At the hospital, Gus tells Javi about a patient he just brought in. Theo comes over, so Javi asks about Lexie. Theo informs him that they are making supportive measures to keep her comfortable but they unfortunately don’t think she’s going to survive much longer. Chad arrives and hugs Theo, telling him he’s sorry.

Leo returns home to the Salem Inn. Gwen comes around the corner, shocked to see him. Leo complains about his flight. Gwen hugs him, thanking God that he’s home. Leo jokes about her squeezing him like Hulk Hogan. Gwen says she’s just so relieved and asks how he’s even here and if he escaped. Leo reveals that he didn’t have to and that Dimitri let him go. Gwen can’t believe it and asks if Leo killed Dimitri. Leo says the last thing he would need is Dimitri’s ghost haunting him for the rest of his life, so Gwen questions what he did do. Leo responds that he simply told Dimitri that he didn’t love him anymore and that they both deserve better.

Stephanie questions if Alex really has to go as she thought they were past this after they kissed in the apartment corridor yesterday. Alex points out that nobody was around then while Joy is literally around the corner as he has Kelsey and somebody could tell her. Stephanie argues that she’s sitting here giving blood and question how anyone could think she’s a threat to Kelsey. Alex says he knows but Joy is dealing with a lot right now as she’s scared and in pain, so he doesn’t want to give her another reason to not play ball with him on the custody agreement. Alex tells Stephanie that he’s going to say hi to Chanel and then he will find somebody to watch Kelsey and come right back. Stephanie says whatever as Alex exits the room. Stephanie then remarks to herself that she’s not sure she will be there.

Chad tells Theo that he’s praying for him and his mom. Javi says he is too as he walks away. Chad asks if Theo found out how Lexie got in the DiMera tunnels. Theo responds that EJ’s apparently been too sick to be questioned and won’t let anyone near him. Chad doesn’t understand since Lexie seemed to be doing just fine. Theo says they think the drugs stopped working and that’s when EJ started hiding her because he didn’t want anyone to know that he failed Lexie and the family. Chad assures that he did not know. Theo responds that he knows Chad had nothing to do with it, but reveals that his so-called friend and cousin Johnny did know. Theo wonders what else Johnny is hiding.

Kayla tells Chanel that her baby will be monitored very closely and that they will be in excellent hands. Chanel appreciates everyone working so hard to take care of her and her baby as she has another contraction which she calls progress. Chanel says she keeps trying to remind herself that the hard part will be over soon and they’ll have a new life to love forever. Chanel admits she wishes it would hurry up. Johnny asks if he can get her anything and leaves to get her more ice chips.

Gwen and Leo enter his room at the Salem Inn. Leo talks about thinking he’d never see the place again. Leo complains about Alamainia being the worst country to visit. Leo asks Gwen how she is doing and if she has any PTSD after being kidnapped. Gwen says she’s alright and is just so glad that Leo is back as she felt so awful leaving him there with Dimitri when he was the one who risked his life to come rescue her. Leo says no matter what’s happened between them, Gwen is his best friend and his ride or die. Gwen admit she adores him for always bettering himself and says he has her heart. Leo tells Gwen that she has his heart too.

Chad tells Theo to let him know if he needs anything. Theo asks Chad to donate blood since the doctors are doing a blood transfusion to hopefully give Lexie a little bit longer. Chad says absolutely and goes to donate. Johnny then comes over and tells Theo he didn’t mean to interrupt as he was just getting ice chips for Chanel. Theo asks how she’s doing. Johnny says she’s hanging in there and still in labor, but needed some transfusions because of the chemo. Johnny asks how Lexie is. Theo responds that if he actually cared, she would’ve been in the hospital long before now. Johnny argues that he only found out a few hours before Theo did and insists he would never do anything to hurt Lexie. Theo remarks that he could’ve fooled him and walks away.

Chad goes to donate blood and finds Stephanie, saying it looks like they had the same idea. Stephanie adds that Alex did too but he saw her and couldn’t get out fast enough. Chad guesses that’s because he was with Kelsey. Stephanie thought they were getting through this but remarks that it turns out Alex still doesn’t want to be seen with his own wife in public.

Joy ends her call with Chloe as Kayla comes in to her room. Joy tells Kayla that she hasn’t told her family what’s going on yet because she doesn’t need her mom making it all about her. Kayla thinks they might find out anyways and suggests they could help with Kelsey. Joy guesses she means instead of Alex. Kayla says she just thought she’d like to have her family around too. Kayla comments on the treatment so far not improving her condition, so she’s afraid that Joy needs surgery.

Leo and Gwen have champagne and toast to their friendship. Leo apologizes for going to Gwen’s lawyer prematurely, but he was convinced that EJ was behind her disappearance. Gwen says it doesn’t matter now since the letter is gone. They still want to know how Rafe got the letter. Leo hopes that Gwen made a deal with the district attorney to put EJ behind bars, but Gwen reveals that she did not because she was worried about what EJ might do to her and admits she didn’t trust the police’s immunity so she didn’t want to incriminate herself by telling them she had anything to do with Dimitri’s kidnapping or that she was involved with EJ. Leo remarks that the bully always wins. Gwen points out that Dimitri didn’t win thanks to Leo.

Kayla tells Joy about the procedure that they will do to remove the fragments and bone spurs. Joy asks what if it doesn’t work. Kayla doesn’t think they need to go there now, but Joy insists. Kayla admits that the worst case scenario is paralysis.

Chad tells Stephanie that he’s sorry she’s going through this and wishes he had advice, but he hopes that Joy will come around and see her for the wonderful person she is. Stephanie asks about Chad’s kids. He says they are coming home from Boston today and that he and Charlotte have a father-daughter dance. Stephanie imagines Alex will be attending one of those one day. Chad states that having a kid changes you. Stephanie remarks that it sure has changed Alex. Stephanie admits she kind of misses the old Alex a little bit.

Alex brings Chanel a teddy bear as he visits her. Chanel says she’s doing okay and asks about Joy. Alex says Joy is in with Kayla, so he figured he and Kelsey would come say hi to Chanel first. Chanel says that’s sweet. Alex says they are waiting to see if Joy’s treatment is working and if not, she might have to have surgery. Chanel hopes it doesn’t come to that. Chanel asks Alex how single dad life is. Alex responds that he’s doing the best he can. Chanel asks if things between Joy and Stephanie have thawed at all. Alex says that they unfortunately have not.

Kayla encourages Joy about the success of the surgery and promises to get her back on her fast as quickly as possible. Kayla asks if there’s anything else she can do for her. Joy says she’s honestly just bored out of her mind. Kayla offers to get a volunteer to bring her books which Joy says would be great as Kayla exits while Joy holds back tears.

Leo tells Gwen about how he thought he’d never see her again as he thought EJ had done her in. Gwen responds that she thought Dimitri had done him in. Gwen comments on Leo giving up Dimitri’s life of yachts and money. Leo insists that he’s changed and he is not the man that Dimitri met or stole from Gwen. Leo apologizes for how he treated her back then. They agree to no more love triangles, burying their grievances, and going back to being friends like they used to as they admit they have missed one another.

Joy looks through the book cart, looking for something fun and light. She ends up finding one of Stephanie’s novels and tosses it aside in frustration right as Alex enters the room with Kelsey.

Stephanie finishes giving blood. She checks her phone and remarks that Alex didn’t bother to come back, so she’s not waiting around and is going to take off. Chad stops her and asks what that will solve. Chad advises her to go find her husband, talk to him, and tell him how she feels. Stephanie says she tried that, so Chad tells her to try again. Stephanie decides he’s right that she should tell him how she’s really feeling. The nurse recommends Stephanie sit for ten minutes before leaving, but Stephanie says screw that as she feels fine, so she walks out of the room.

Theo goes to visit Chanel. Chanel talks about waiting for her baby to arrive. Chanel asks how Theo is doing and questions why he wasn’t at Abe’s dinner. Theo calls that a long story that he can tell her later, but Chanel demands to know now.

Gwen arrives at the hospital, surprising Kayla who says she’s so glad to see her. Gwen apologizes for missing the meeting about purchasing the hospital. Kayla says she had a good reason for missing it and asks how she’s feeling. Gwen says she’s physically fine as Dimitri treated her like a captive princess. Gwen tells Kayla that she’s back now and ready to pick up where they left off as she is still as interested as ever in buying the hospital.

Leo walks through the town square and calls Marlena, telling her that he’s back and asks if she has any openings right away. Javi and Gus then walk in to the town square and grab a table together, but Javi spots Leo and rushes over to him. Javi tells Leo that he was afraid he’d never see him again. Javi goes to hug him but stops and shakes his hand instead, while Gus looks on annoyed. Javi tells Leo that he was so worried and angry when Rafe came back without him. Javi asks how Leo escaped Dimitri. Leo says he wishes it was a fabulous tale but it was simple as he just told Dimitri that he didn’t love him and never would. Leo explains that Dimitri thought that since he couldn’t be with Javi, he’d just be with him, but he was wrong because he’s not the same man he met. Leo tells Javi that he changed him. Javi is glad for his sake and says he should get back to Gus. Javi welcomes Leo home and then heads back to his table with Gus. Gus asks Javi how Leo is. Javi says he’s good and apologizes. Javi asks what they were talking about before, but Gus says they need to talk more about Leo.

Theo tells Chanel that he’s fine and just came by to tell her he loves her and that he can’t wait to meet his new niece or nephew. Johnny returns to the room. Theo tells Chanel that he has to go and next time he sees her, it will be with a happy, healthy baby in her arms. Theo then exits. Chanel then questions the look between Johnny and Theo.

Alex tells Joy that he and Kelsey stopped by earlier but the nurse said Kayla was in with her. Joy informs him that Kayla said the treatment isn’t working and that she’s going to need surgery. Alex tells her that he’s so sorry. Joy starts crying, so Alex hugs her and tells her it’s okay. Stephanie then walks by and sees them from the doorway. Stephanie then turns and walks away. Joy cries to Alex that she’s so scared about the surgery not working and ending up paralyzed for life. Alex tells her that whatever happens, she’s not alone and he’s there for her and their daughter.

Stephanie runs in to Theo at the hospital and says she’s so sorry to hear about his mom and asks how she’s doing. Stephanie goes to hug Theo but stumbles in to his arms. Stephanie says she just shouldn’t have skipped the snack after donating blood as Theo sits her down. Theo tells Stephanie that she shouldn’t be alone, so he’s glad he was there. Stephanie says she is too and rests her head on Theo’s shoulder as Alex comes around the corner with Kelsey. Alex sees them together as he then turns and leaves the hospital.

Javi questions Gus wanting to talk about Leo. Gus angrily tells Javi not to deny the obvious and says he should’ve known as soon as Javi wanted to go to Alamainia to rescue him, that he’s still in love with Leo. Javi starts to deny it while Gus complains that Javi’s been worried about Leo ever since he left and checking his phone every 30 seconds. Javi argues that Leo was kidnapped by a homicidal maniac halfway around the world and he was just concerned for a fellow human being. Gus says that’s what he told himself, but points out how Javi left his side to go to Leo just now and the way he looked at him. Javi continues trying to deny it. Gus brings up that Javi said he couldn’t be with Leo as long as he had feelings for someone else. Gus says that he now feels that same way. Gus declares that he’s going home to Javi’s house to pack his bags and storms off, leaving Javi shocked.

Leo walks past the Brady Pub and runs in to Chad, who is happy to see he’s back. Leo thanks Chad for letting him use the DiMera Jet to rescue Gwen. Chad asks how Gwen is doing. Leo says she’s back to her old self. Leo adds that he has a story to discuss with Chad involving EJ. Chad responds that he has an even bigger story for Leo about his sister.

Kayla tells Gwen that she will arrange her meeting but it will be up to her to negotiate the final sale with EJ. Kayla says they should be able to complete the sale of the hospital within the state’s 90 day deadline if there’s no unexpected roadblock.

Johnny claims to Chanel that he doesn’t know what she’s talking about, but she tells him not to lie to her. Chanel argues that something is going on between he and Theo and she wants to know what it is. Johnny claims it’s just business between two CEOs with fragile egos. Johnny tells Chanel to just focus on delivering their baby. Chanel then tells Johnny that she thinks her water just broke, but Johnny reveals that it’s blood.

Brady and Marlena eat together at the Brady Pub. Brady tells her that Rachel loved her back to school gear she got for her. They talk about hoping Rachel has a wonderful year. Marlena mentions running in to Tate, who invited her to his gym. Marlena admits she’s very impressed by how hard Tate is working to make it a success. Brady mentions that Tate was up early to get ready for his session with Gwen. Marlena notes that she didn’t know Gwen was back in town and asks about Leo since he went to Alamainia to rescue her. Marlena says she tried calling Leo but she hasn’t had a response. Brady then reveals that’s because Leo decided to stay behind with Dimitri.

In Alamainia, Dimitri wakes Leo up on the couch. Leo complains that it wasn’t a dream and he really is here. Dimitri says he waited up for him last night, hoping he’d get tired of the couch and join him in bed. Leo says in his dream, Dimitri got the message and let him go back home to Salem. Dimitri says this is reality and that’s not happening.

Roman runs in to Kate outside the Pub. Kate says she got his text. Roman says she didn’t have to rush over as it’s not an emergency, but he did want to see her. Roman mentions that Arianna told him that the Kiriakis Mansion was being sold. Kate says it’s either that or EJ takes it. Roman didn’t realize the situation was that dire and asks why she didn’t say anything. Kate says it’s none of his concern but Roman argues that her wellbeing is always his concern.

Xander finishes a call at the Kiriakis Mansion as Sarah comes home from the hospital. Sarah tells Xander that Chanel’s been in labor all night and she hoped to be there for the birth but it’s dragging on. Xander feels for the family, knowing they must be anxious. Xander asks if something’s wrong. Sarah says not with Chanel or the baby, but reveals they found Lexie. Xander questions that she was missing. Sarah explains that Lexie told Abe and Theo that she was going to South Africa to visit her mom, but she never made it there and Theo found her in the DiMera Mansion. Sarah adds that the miracle drug is no longer working, so EJ hid her away. Xander calls EJ a son of a bitch who destroys everything he touches.

Gabi goes to Titan to see Philip. Philip hopes she has good news and asks if she decided to stake him the $5 million for the poker game for Titan and his family, to make him forever indebted to her. Philip questions her silence and her look. Gabi reveals that she’s given his request a lot of thought and she’s sorry, but her answer is no.

At the Hernandez house, Rafe asks Javi if everything is okay. Javi responds that it’s far from it. Rafe guesses it’s about Leo. Javi says he’s tried reaching out every way he can think of and he’s got nothing. Javi says that Rafe said Leo was safe, but he doesn’t believe it. Javi questions if Rafe lied to him.

Dimitri tells Leo to get showered and dressed because the yacht awaits for all their plans. Leo stops him and tells him to pause the crazy.

Marlena questions Leo choosing to stay in Alamainia. Brady confirms that’s what he heard. Marlena says she’s confused and a little concerned. Marlena knows Leo has a soft spot for Dimitri, but thought he had gotten over that. Brady says apparently not. Brady adds that he doesn’t want to pile on the bad news, but she needs to hear from him that Titan Industries is folding. Marlena can’t believe it. Brady reveals that EJ calling in the loan pretty much crushed any chance to save the company. Marlena asks what that does to Basic Black. Brady responds that EJ will either absorb it in to DiMera and sell it, or he’ll probably shut it down. Marlena says she’s very sorry for the Kiriakis family and for Brady. Brady hopes that John would understand because he feels like he let him down.

Roman tells Kate that he’s so sorry for what she’s going through. Kate imagines he feels vindicated since he hated when she went back to work at Titan and predicted it would go badly and it did. Kate says now the company is gone, the house is gone, and the Kiriakis fortune is gone. Kate is sure Roman would enjoy his moment of telling her so.

Sarah tells Xander that she’s sorry about Titan as she knows how hard he fought to keep it afloat. Xander says it was to no avail and adds that there’s a bit more news that affects them all. Xander says that they have found a buyer for the house with a good offer and it will keep it from falling in to EJ’s hands. Xander adds that he just got off the phone with Maggie, who agreed that they should sell.

Gabi tells Philip that she’s sorry as she knows he’s disappointed. Philip says it feels like the universe just hit delete on his life. Philip asks if there’s anything he can do to change her mind. Gabi says there isn’t as she’s made it a policy not to throw good money after bad money. Gabi says after everything Philip’s done to save the company and still feeling, maybe that’s the universe hitting delete on Titan.

Sarah says it must have been a serious offer if Maggie is already considering selling. Sarah asks if he has any idea who it is. Xander says it’s some Italian business conglomerate. Sarah asks if he’s sure this is what he wants to do. Xander says there’s no other option. Sarah agrees that EJ would level the place and turn it in to a tar pit. Sarah repeats that she’s sorry as she knows how much the house means to Xander. Xander says he grew up dreaming of living there and being accepted as a true Kiriakis, so it kills him to sell it, but Victor would roll in his grave if he allowed the place to fall in to EJ’s hands.

Philip argues that the universe has nothing to do with Titan’s situation and that they were turning things around, but the only reason they are in this situation is because EJ is a vindictive piece of garbage. Philip argues that it’s not just about Titan, but stopping EJ from destroying the whole town. Gabi says she doesn’t want to get in to another war with EJ either. Philip questions if she’s okay losing everything she invested in the company. Gabi remarks that it wasn’t her money to begin with and it belonged to the DiMeras. Philip points out that Stefan was her husband. Gabi says she’s not saying she didn’t deserve it but it’s different from putting in her own hard earned money. Philip asks about Arianna, arguing that she’s losing part of her family legacy too. Gabi states that Ari will be fine as she has a trust fund now and that will be good enough for both of them. Philip guesses that’s it then, Titan’s doom is certain and he’s about to drown in despair. Gabi wishes she could help as she knows how much Titan means to him and how much he wanted to prove himself, but argues that the poker game is too big of a risk, especially for him.

Roman tells Kate that he’s not in an I told you so mood and that he’s not happy about the Kiriakis Mansion being lost or the effect it’s going to have on Maggie, Philip, and Kate, but he does hope some good can come out of this. Roman declares that if the Kiriakis Mansion has to go, then Kate won’t be living under that roof anymore, so he thinks maybe it’s time that she comes back to live under the Brady Pub roof.

Marlena tells Brady that he had nothing to do with Titan’s downfall. Brady is unsure, feeling if he stayed, maybe he could’ve stopped Philip and Xander from giving in to their worst impulses. Marlena says she doesn’t know if that’s true. Marlena argues that Brady left the company with his integrity and went on to start his own company, so his dad would be so proud of him for doing what he can to make the world a better and safer place, just like John did. Brady thanks her, saying he really needed to hear that.

Rafe tells Javi that maybe Leo isn’t responding to his messages because he doesn’t have service. Javi worries that maybe Leo doesn’t have his phone because Dimitri took it from, so Leo is trapped there and can’t leave. Javi states that Rafe told him that Leo wanted to say. Rafe clarifies that he said Leo chose to stay, but he’s not sure he wanted to.

Leo tells Dimitri that he slept late because he was up all night, worrying that what he said to him last night didn’t actually register. Leo complains about Dimitri being in denial, as if he’s winning him over, when all he wants to do is go home. Leo reminds Dimitri that he cannot buy him. Dimitri argues that he’s just trying to show him the incredible life they could have together, where he’ll never have to struggle again. Dimitri insists that he just wants to share his good fortune with him. Leo asks why he’s not getting through to him and says he’s not the same person he used to be. Leo argues that the old him would’ve given his soul for a week on the yacht, but the new Leo wants a real life with real love, not the twisted version that they had. Leo tells Dimitri that he’s sorry, but he’s not his person anymore as that chapter of his life is over forever.

Javi complains that Rafe talked him out of going with him to Alamainia and now he’s telling him that Leo is being held against his will and could be in danger. Rafe says he only said Leo chose to stay and asks what Javi was going to do if he did go with him, considering Dimitri had men all over the place and they would’ve clocked him as soon as he arrived. Javi argues that he would’ve convinced Leo to come back with him instead of leaving him there like Rafe did.

Dimitri tells Leo that their love was not twisted, but beautiful and perfect. Dimitri says maybe Leo doesn’t feel it right now, but he did once and he knows he will feel it again. Leo asks if he’s going to bully him in to it, arguing that he can’t force somebody to love him. Dimitri understands that Javi meant a lot to him, but he’s moved on and is already with somebody new. Dimitri asks how much longer Leo plans to pine for somebody who doesn’t want to be with him. Leo responds that Dimitri can tell him. Dimitri says he won’t force his hand as he has too much pride for that. Leo asks why he’s keeping him here then. Leo tells Dimitri that what they had was amazing with some incredible adventures, a lot of laughs, and some really great times, but it’s over now. Leo declares that if Dimitri really loves him, he will let him go.

Kate asks if Roman is asking her to move back in. Roman confirms that he is, noting that Arianna is going back to the dorms soon, so her room will be available. Kate realizes he meant moving back in to the guest room. Roman says they aren’t there yet, but he does hope it could be a first step to closing the distance between them.

Marlena tells Brady that he’s a good man and she’s impressed with how well he’s handled the situation with Rachel, especially with Kristen doing all the harm she possibly can. Brady says that Rachel’s been really brave about the whole thing and is taking it almost too well. Marlena calls it a sign of how far she’s come and says she’s so lucky to have Brady for a father. Brady says he’s doing his best and trying to give her a sense of stability. Marlena encourages that Brady gives her strength and so much love, calling him a wonderful father. Brady declares that if that’s true, it’s because he learned from the best.

Philip questions why Gabi is saying it’s too big a risk for him. Gabi says after he told her about the poker game, she did her homework and asked some of his old pals about his history as a poker player to see if he’s as good of a player as he said. Gabi confirms they said Philip was a poker ace and a real shark at the table, but they also said he was a gambling addict.

Xander tells Sarah that he knows he just sprung this on her, but asks if she’s thought about where she might live. Sarah admits she hasn’t as she knew this was probably going to happen, but didn’t expect it so soon. Sarah asks about him. Xander reminds her that he still has his apartment and he was thinking since it’s been so convenient and lucky being so close to her and Victoria. Sarah points out that the mansion had so much space. Xander clarifies that he wasn’t suggesting they live in the apartment together as he understands that wouldn’t work, but maybe Sarah could find an apartment in the same building or in the area nearby for Victoria’s sake.

Roman tells Kate that he’s sorry as he’s sure this wasn’t the invitation she was looking for. Kate says she will take it because it gives her hope that he’s interested in fixing their marriage. Roman tells Kate that he has to go back in and invites her to come have breakfast, which Kate says she would like.

Marlena tells Brady that she’s glad they had time to do this today. Brady thanks her for talking him off the ledge for the millionth time. They hug as Marlena says she’s always there for him. Brady then exits as Kate and Roman come in to the Pub together. Marlena tells Kate that she saw her and Roman chatting, so she asks if that means she took her advice. Kate confirms that she did and that she’s moving back in to the Pub, but still in separate rooms. They agree that it’s at least promising.

Sarah tells Xander that it is a good idea to live close to each other for Victoria’s sake, so she will look around and see what’s available. Sarah thanks him again for letting her know and repeats that she’s really sorry. Xander assures they will get through this as it’s not the end of the world. Sarah calls it just the end of an era as she exits.

Philip admits to Gabi that he had a gambling addiction, but that was years ago and he has it under control. Gabi remarks that she’s heard that before. Philip argues that this isn’t about chasing the high of gambling, but saving Titan. Philip swears he’s beaten the addiction. Gabi asks what if one game is all it takes and worries that it could be dangerous. Philip appreciates her worry but swears it’s not a problem anymore. Philip declares that it’s one game on one night to save his family’s legacy, insisting that he can handle it.

Rafe remarks that with the way Javi is handling this, it’s obvious he still has feelings for Leo. Javi asks how it’s obvious, arguing that he would care about anyone whose life was in danger. Rafe says not like this. Javi admits he worries about Leo because they are Trey’s Godparents and points out that Leo is lonely and gets anxiety. Rafe asks if Gus knows that he’s this worried about Leo. Javi insists that he and Gus are good. Rafe asks if he’s sure about that, feeling Javi did move on awfully fast. Javi argues that he knew Gus long before he even met Leo and that Gus gave up his life to be here with him. Javi calls Gus kind, dependable, and exactly what he needs right now. Rafe talks about Javi worrying so much about Leo and says he’s spiraling out. Rafe thinks Javi is trying to convince himself that he’s moved on when he hasn’t at all.

Dimitri tells Leo that he hears what he’s saying, but he thinks maybe Leo’s the one not listening to his heart. Dimitri points out that Leo could’ve left, but he chose to stay with him. Dimitri doesn’t understand why anyone would make that choice if they didn’t believe somewhere deep inside, there was still hope for them. Leo responds that he stayed because it was the right thing to do to help Gwen, who they both betrayed in the worst way which will haunt him for the rest of his life. Leo declares that he stayed so that Dimitri would let Gwen walk out and that he did it for her.

Kate thanks Marlena for encouraging her to fight for Roman and not give up. Marlena is glad it’s working out for both of them. Roman comes back to get their order for breakfast. Kate apologizes but remembers she has something important to do, so she will call him. Kate then exits the Pub. Marlena tells Roman that she heard the good news that Kate is moving back in to the Pub. Roman says they will see where it goes from there. Roman says he was going to call Marlena and asks if she has a minute. Marlena asks what’s going on. Roman hopes she doesn’t think he’s prying, but he’s worried about her. Roman brings up the chess set that Stefano left her and John.

Brady and Sarah meet up in the town square. Brady can’t believe Sarah is still awake after pulling an all nighter. Sarah explains that she was going to take a nap but she ran in to Xander, who dropped the bomb on her that there’s been an offer on the Kiriakis Mansion that they are going to take. Brady didn’t think it would go that fast and talks about having so many memories in that house with Victor and Maggie. Brady notes that it affects Sarah and Victoria more than it does him. Sarah guesses she will have to find a new place to live. Brady asks if she’s talked to Maggie about it. Sarah says she won’t be back before they have to move out, but she did say she wants them to find a place together. Brady tells Sarah that she and Victoria are more than welcome to stay at his place.

Philip tells Gabi that they can do this. Xander arrives and questions what they are doing. Philip claims they were just talking about the challenges they are facing. Gabi says she was just telling Philip that she’s sorry it turned out like this. Xander says he is too and reveals that they have a buyer for the Kiriakis Mansion which he and Maggie are ready to accept. Philip questions wanting to sell already. Xander responds that it’s now or never if they want to keep EJ from taking it. Philip says no. Xander calls it a solid offer. Philip argues that he hasn’t seen it yet. Xander says he’s welcome to look at it, but they have to face that this is where they’re at and they are out of options. Philip then walks out of the office.

Dimitri asks if Leo is saying the only way for him to prove he loves him is to let him go. Leo says he has to end this vendetta against Gwen. Dimitri declares that if he swears not to retaliate against Gwen and lets Leo walk out the door, then maybe that will mean he’s changed too. Leo calls that some seriously fast soul searching. Dimitri orders Leo to just gather his things and go. Leo sits Dimitri down and tells him that he knows Dimitri tries to impress people with how much money he has because he thinks he has nothing else to offer when that’s so not true. Leo talks about seeing the side of him that was genuinely sweet, funny, and caring. Leo says if Dimitri works on himself and lets that side come out more often, he is certain that Dimitri will find true love, like he did. Leo adds that even though the person he loves no longer loves him, just thinking back to that makes him a better person because he knows he’s capable of being selfless and it’s changed his life. Leo hopes that one day it can change Dimitri’s.

Javi can’t believe Rafe is coming for him, arguing that just because Sami and Jada are Rafe’s exes, that doesn’t mean he stops caring about them. Javi adds that Rafe would do anything for them if they were in trouble and not because he’s trying to get them back. Rafe admits he’s made his point. Javi admits that he will always have feelings for Leo after loving someone like he did, talking about how they were sort of married and raising a kid together, but that chapter is closed. Rafe says that’s fine and he gets it. Rafe wants Javi to know that he’s allowed to love whoever he wants, but he thinks Javi needs to ask himself who that really is.

Leo thanks Dimitri for listening, understanding, and all of the times they shared together. Leo says their great times are memories he will always hold onto. Leo hugs Dimitri and then exits.

Marlena reminds Roman that she wanted nothing to do with the chess set, but Belle became intrigued by the missing pawn, so she and Chad have been looking into it. Roman brings up that it’s not the first time that Stefano left John a chess set with a missing piece. Marlena recalls last time it was the queen. Roman wonders what the missing pawn could mean since it can’t be John as Stefano couldn’t have known John woudl be dead. Marlena suspects that Stefano thought she and John would be looking in to it together. Roman wonders who or what the missing pawn is supposed to represent.

Sarah tells Brady that’s such a a generous offer, but brings up Rachel and Tate. Brady says he will run it by them, but he knows they adore Sarah and Victoria so they’d be fine with them staying with them. Sarah says that’s nice to hear, but she does have to talk to Maggie before making any decisions. Brady says that’s fine and just wanted her to know it’s a possibility. Sarah thanks him and says that means a lot to him. Brady tells Sarah that there’s not much he wouldn’t do for her and Victoria as he loves her. Sarah tells Brady that she loves him too as they kiss.

Xander makes a call about the offer on the Kiriakis Mansion and says to tell them that they accept and to get it done. Xander hangs up and then pounds his fist on his desk in frustration.

Philip goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion, looking up at the portrait of Victor as Kate comes in. Philip tells her that he’s so sorry. Kate responds that it’s not his fault, but her fault, because EJ came after them for her setting up Johnny. Kate says she wanted to save the company, but instead she cost them everything. Kate turns to the portrait of Victor and says she’s so sorry as she walks back out of the room. Philip sits down in frustration until Gabi walks in and places her hand on his shoulder. Gabi declares that she’s changed her mind and agrees to give Philip the money for the poker game, telling him to try to save Titan.

Tate and Holly walk through the town square. Holly mentions that Sarah said the Kiriakis Mansion is already on the market and she can’t believe this is happening. Tate says it sucks to be losing her family home while Holly talks about feeling bad for Maggie as it must be really sad for her. Tate encourages that Maggie is a superhero and they will be fine. Tate acknowledges that Holly’s had an incredibly tough year but she’s been brave and never gave up. Holly admits it feels like things are finally getting back to normal. Holly talks about missing her mom, so Tate asks if she’s not thinking about moving to France.

Arianna goes to the Brady Pub and tells Roman about her back to school shopping. Roman says he’s really going to miss her as it’s been nice having her around. Arianna assures that she’ll be back to visit all the time. Ari brings up that since she’s vacating the room upstairs, maybe Kate can move back in. Roman says she has a place to live. Ari says maybe not for long, since Holly told her that the Kiriakis Mansion is being sold which surprises Roman. Roman points out that the Salem Inn has better amenities while Ari points out that it doesn’t have him.

Foster joins Julie at the Horton house, where Julie is babysitting Trey. Foster brings up tonight being trivia night. Julie explains that Chanel went in to labor early, so she got called to babysit. Foster asks if that means they need to cancel their date.

Gwen is in her room at the Salem Inn and calls Chad, leaving a voicemail thanking him for lending Leo the DiMera jet to come rescue her. Gwen says she’s back now, but it’s Leo who needs to be rescued now, so she hopes that Chad and his family can do something to help. Gwen asks Chad to call her as she hangs up. JJ then shows up at Gwen’s door and says he came to say welcome home.

Johnny goes to a waiting room at the hospital and finds Theo. Theo asks how Chanel is since Marlena told him she’s in labor. Johnny says nothing is happening yet, but Chanel needs a blood transfusion to make sure it goes smoothly. Johnny says he came to donate blood just to add to it and appreciates Theo doing the same. Theo responds that he would do anything for Chanel, but he’s doing this for his mom in hopes that it gives her more time. Johnny is confused and asks what he means. Theo reveals that Lexie is here at the hospital, but it doesn’t look good as she might not have long left.

Julie informs Foster that she thought they could bring Trey along to trivia night unless he wants to postpone. Foster assures that he loves babies, so Julie declares they are off to trivia night at the Brady Pub.

Arianna tells Roman that she thinks Kate wants to move back above the Pub and that it’s obvious how much they miss each other. Ari says they are both acting like it’s whatever but they aren’t fooling anyone as she knows they are both miserable. Ari tells Roman to at least think about it.

Holly admits there are times that she fantasizes about living in France since she misses Nicole, Eric, and Jude, but says her whole life is here and she loves how being close to Tate makes her feel. They kiss until Aaron interrupts them.

Gwen tells JJ that she wasn’t expecting him. JJ says he and Jack tried to call but her phone was disconnected and they were all really worried about her. Gwen finds it really hard to believe that the Deverauxs were concerned about her well being. JJ tells Gwen that it’s true and that they are happy she’s home safe.

Theo tells Johnny that this is all EJ’s fault and he can’t ever forgive him as they already went through this once, but now to go through it all again. Johnny says he’s sorry. Theo argues that EJ is the one who should be sorry. Theo complains about the drug not working and says that EJ hid Lexie in the basement, denying her medical treatment. Johnny stops him and says that’s not what happened, so Theo then realizes that Johnny knew.

Aaron talks excitedly about the Cubs game and calls it a perfect day. Holly notes him being in a good mood. Aaron then reveals that he and Ari kissed in the park earlier. Holly and Tate are excited as Tate says it’s about time and Holly questions not hearing it from Ari. Holly says she’s so happy for them and mentions that she knows Ari is at the Pub if he wants to go run in to her. Aaron invites them to come but Tate suggests he go solo, so Aaron rushes off to the Pub.

Gwen questions JJ saying they care. JJ says that when Steve told them they were missing, Jack immediately got on the phone and wanted to bring his daughter home safe. Gwen calls that interesting. JJ mentions Jack told him that he and Gwen spoke about rebuilding a relationship. JJ says these past few days had him thinking he may never see her again and lose another sister without at least trying to fix things between them. JJ asks if there’s a way they can try.

Aaron goes to the Brady Pub and runs in to Arianna. They chat a bit as Roman comes over and hopes they are sticking around for trivia night. Aaron says he’d love to. Roman adds that the winning team gets a $100 gift card to use anywhere in the town square, so Arianna says they are in. Julie and Foster then arrive with Trey. Roman greets them as Julie asks if he’s ready to have another great grandbaby. Roman says babies are always a blessing, especially now with what’s going on with Lexie. Julie asks what’s going on with Lexie.

Theo demands an answer from Johnny, who admits he knew where Lexie was. Theo argues that he asked Johnny point blank if he asked EJ and he said he didn’t. Theo complains that Johnny chose to lie to his face and not tell him, asking how he could do this.

Roman fills Julie in. Julie says she feels terrible for Abe and Theo to lose Lexie a second time and asks what this means for Paulina. Roman says he just knows they need to be there for them. Roman then goes to set up for trivia night. Arianna and Aaron come over and greet Julie and Foster. Aaron looks in on Trey. Ari comments that Trey totally has Aaron’s eyes. Julie explains to Foster that Aaron is the biological father while Trey is adopted. Julie then asks Aaron if he’d like to hold Trey.

Tate asks Holly if she has any idea who planted the drugs in her bag. Holly responds that Sarah told her in confidence but he can’t tell anyone. Holly informs Tate that Sarah thinks DiMera Pharmaceuticals contaminated the water with Coriseal and that someone from the company planted the pills in her bag to cover it up.

Gwen tells JJ that he’s just here to butter her up since they heard she’s buying the hospital, so he’s here to kiss her rear end. Gwen asks what’s on the agenda and what he wants. JJ says he didn’t know she was buying a hospital and doesn’t have an agenda. JJ just wanted to have a nice moment with his sister. Gwen remains skeptical as she’s not accustomed to nice moments. JJ suggests they should work on that.

Johnny tells Theo that he told EJ that he and Abe should know the truth, but he insisted this is what Lexie wanted. Theo questions taking EJ’s word when he’s been hiding everything. Theo asks if he even asked Lexie. Johnny admits he didn’t. Theo asks what other heinous things he’s been covering up for EJ. Johnny thinks back to planting the medical book on Sarah’s desk. Johnny tells Theo that everything he’s done has been for the good of their family. Theo disagrees and argues that EJ only cares about saving his own ass. Theo blames Johnny for denying he and Abe precious time with Lexie that they will never get back. Theo tells Johnny that he is his father’s son. Theo then calls the nurse and says he needs to get out of here.

Tate guarantees Holly that EJ is behind this and wonders if this is why EJ was being so nice to her. Holly confirms that’s what Sarah thinks but says they can’t confront EJ or tip him off in any way until they have solid proof. Holly argues that EJ made her trust him instead of the people she loves most and made them think she was a lying druggie. Tate says he needs to pay for that. Holly repeats that they can’t do anything without proof which Brady and Sarah are working on. Holly says until then, they just have to remain quiet about it.

Theo repeats to the nurse that he needs to get out of here, so she agrees to walk him to the desk. Theo then warns Johnny to wait until Chanel finds out what he did and asks how he’s ever going to be able to look her in the face again as he walks out of the room.

Aaron holds Trey and tells Arianna that he can’t believe he was involved in making a person. Ari asks if he ever has second thoughts about giving him up for adoption. Aaron says no as he wasn’t ready to be a dad yet, but maybe someday. Aaron admits he’s really grateful that Trey has really cool parents, so he can watch him grow up this way. Aaron wonders if they will ever tell Trey that he’s his biological father and maybe be apart of his life. Ari says if that’s something he wants. Aaron admits he’s really thinking about it, but he wonders what they will tell Trey when he asks about his mom. Arianna is sure they will tell him the good things, insisting that Sophia wasn’t a bad person and no one knew how much she was struggling. Foster sits with Julie and tells her that he’s sorry about Lexie. Julie says it gets her thinking about how it happens to all of them. Foster says it’d be wonderful if an afterlife existed, but he doesn’t put much stock in it.

Tate and Holly can’t believe summer is almost over. Holly talks about moving back in the dorms and how it will be weird not having him across the hall. Tate says he plans to spend plenty of nights there with her. Holly jokes about Ari being okay with that while Tate jokes that if it all works out, Ari might spend some nights in someone else’s bed too. Tate then spots Gwen walking through the town square and runs over to her. Tate hugs Gwen and says thank God she’s okay, leaving Holly a little surprised.

Roman begins Trivia Night at the Brady Pub. Ari says they’ve got this while Julie jokes they are going down and Foster notes trivia night is serious business. Roman asks the first question about 1970s sports which Foster gets correct. Roman then asks how many bones are in a human foot which Aaron answers correctly as 26. Julie remarks that it’s going to be a bumpy night.

JJ goes to the hospital and tells Theo that Javi told him they brought Lexie in, so he came as soon as he heard. Theo thanks him and says he’s glad he did.

Paulina joins Johnny to donate blood and tells him that it won’t be long before his baby arrives. Paulina knows Johnny is worried about Chanel, but asks if something else is on his mind. Johnny informs her that Theo was in there earlier. Paulina guesses he told him about Lexie. Johnny reveals he already knew, which shocks Paulina who questions what he knew and when he knew it.

JJ tells Theo that he’s sorry as he can’t imagine what he and Abe are going through. JJ asks what he can do to help. Theo says there’s nothing anybody can do and that he just needs to see his mom. JJ offers to go with him but Theo says he’ll be fine. Theo appreciates him stopping by. JJ repeats that he’s there for anything he needs. Theo responds that it’s times like these where you find out who your real friends are as they hug.

Johnny tells Paulina that this was Lexie’s dying wish and she made EJ promise not to tell Abe and Theo. Paulina argues that Johnny didn’t have to keep that promise while Johnny argues that he was trying to honor his aunt as this is what she wanted. Paulina asks if he’s sure that’s true and questions why he would trust a word EJ says after the horrible things he did to everybody in town, while now Johnny is keeping secrets from his loved ones on his say so. Paulina doesn’t see any way that ends well.

Roman continues trivia night with a question about Mount Rushmore which Julie answers correctly. Roman then asks what breed of sharks can survive in fresh water which Arianna and Aaron get correct. Roman then asks the final question of which member of One Direction was the first to pursue a solo career. Foster and Arianna both answer but Foster gets it first, crediting it to having four granddaughters. Roman announces Julie and Foster as the winners of trivia night. Arianna and Aaron go over to congratulate Julie and Foster and say goodbye as they walk away.

Tate introduces Holly to Gwen. Holly remembers meeting her at the gym. Gwen says she heard Holly was in the hospital, so she’s glad she’s on the mend. Tate points out Gwen being kidnapped and asks if she’s okay. Gwen confirms that she is and thanks him. Tate asks when she got back to Salem. Gwen says it was earlier this morning and apologizes for not being to the gym, since her phone was destroyed but she got a new one and finally got all of his messages. Tate jokes that he might be able to waive the no show fees. Gwen assures that she intends to pay him and that she can’t wait to get back in the gym as she was worried about going soft. Tate assures it wouldn’t happen that fast to someone in as good of shape as her. Gwen comments on Tate being sweet, which annoys Holly. Gwen tells Tate that she will text him to get something on the calendar and walks away. Holly then complains to Tate that Gwen wasn’t being subtle about flirting with him which Tate disagrees with, saying Gwen is just friendly. Holly questions if he has a lot of friendly female clients who happen to be super attractive. Tate says there’s a few, but it doesn’t matter because he’s only attracted to her as he kisses her.

Arianna and Aaron talk about having fun tonight. Aaron admits that he came to the Pub hoping to run in to her because Holly mentioned that she was there. Ari admits she’s glad he came. Aaron invites her over, saying they can practice trivia for next time. Arianna says she’d love to.

Foster brings Julie home and she puts Trey to sleep. Foster says trivia wore him out and calls Julie quite a competitor. They talk about their gift card prize. Foster suggests they use it for a nice dinner next week. Foster admits he was looking forward to spending alone time with her. They almost kiss but JJ comes home and interrupts them. JJ apologizes and says he will head upstairs. Foster says it’s okay as he has to go. Foster introduces himself to JJ. Foster thanks Julie for a lovely evening and says he’ll call her tomorrow as he exits. JJ jokes with Julie. Julie offers to get them a snack while JJ says he’d rather hear about her lovely time. Julie tells him that they won the trivia competition, it was a nice evening, and that’s the end of the story.

Paulina complains to Johnny that she warned EJ not to play God with people’s lives because of the consequences and she’s afraid Johnny is now on a slippery slope himself. Johnny asks what she means. Paulina explains that Chanel’s biggest fear when they got married is that Johnny would be more loyal to being a DiMera than to her. Johnny argues that is never going to happen because nothing means more to him than Chanel. Johnny tells Paulina that Chanel has nothing to worry about as he then leaves the room, saying he’s going to check on her. Johnny runs in to Theo in the lobby and says he doesn’t like how they left things. Johnny asks if they can talk and how he can make things right. Theo tells him that he can’t and walks off.

Rafe and Gwen return to Salem as he brings her to the police station. Gwen complains about the flight and that they left Leo in Alamainia. Gwen feels Leo is helpless in Dimitri’s clutches while Rafe disagrees that Leo is helpless. Jada enters and asks what they have here.

Theo brings Abe to the room in the tunnels to find Lexie unconscious in the bed. Abe rushes to her side and checks her pulse, questioning if they are too late.

Paulina asks if they are sure Theo is fine. Chanel says that’s what Chad said. Johnny is sure he would’ve said if they need to be worried. Chanel notes that Abe seemed pretty worried and wonders if it could have something to do with Lexie. Paulina brings up that Chad is Lexie’s brother. Chanel then gets a sudden pain and declares that she thinks she’s going in to labor. Chanel says she’s pretty sure as Paulina worries that it’s too soon. Lani says that less than a month early should be okay while Chanel and Johnny explain that she meant because it’s supposed to be three weeks after she stopped chemo. Paulina guesses this baby has other ideas.

Jada guesses this is what Rafe couldn’t get in to on the phone. Rafe confirms he couldn’t risk anything before they got on the plane. Gwen complains that Alamainia was misery served by Dimitri, who kidnapped her off the streets of Salem in broad daylight. Rafe informs Jada that Dimitri kidnapped Gwen in retaliation for Gwen and EJ kidnapping him. Rafe tells Jada that EJ was Gwen’s accomplice and now they have proof which Jada says is good to hear. Rafe adds that he told Gwen they are willing to cut her a very sweet deal and let her off the hook for her crime if she tells them chapter and verse of everything that EJ has been up to.

Theo notes that Lexie’s heart is still beating. Abe questions why EJ was keeping her down there. Theo says he doesn’t know but since he changed the access code and Rita tried to stop him, it’s obvious that he didn’t want anybody to know about it. Abe promises to find out but says they have to get Lexie to the hospital first. Theo says the paramedics should be there any minute so he will go upstairs to meet them and he’ll be right back as he exits. Abe sits at Lexie’s side and pleads with her to stay with them.

Johnny says they need to get Chanel to the hospital. Chanel worries that it’s still too early and they haven’t packed a bag yet. Paulina says she and Lani will come back for whatever she needs. Chanel asks about Trey. Johnny says he’s on it and calls Julie to ask if the twins are up for a play date with Trey, revealing that Chanel is in labor. Johnny hangs up and tells Chanel that they are going to have a baby.

Abe and Theo go to the hospital and tell Kayla that the paramedics just brought Lexie in. Kayla questions what’s going on. Theo says they don’t know other than EJ’s miracle drug apparently stopped working. Kayla thought she went to see her mother. Theo says that’s what they thought, but she never left Salem and they were hoping she went to see Dr. Rolf for treatments. Abe says now there is nothing that can be done. Kayla says they’ll see about that. Kayla goes to Lexie’s hospital room where Javi is with her and asks how she’s doing. Javi responds that her vitals are stable, but so far she’s been unconscious with no responses. Kayla thanks him and says she’ll take it from here, so Javi exits. Kayla encourages Lexie to hang in there.

Gwen declares there’s no way in hell that she’s giving anything on EJ until she knows she’s protected EJ and the courts. Jada refuses a deal until they know she can be useful to them. Gwen guesses they are at an impasse then. Rafe says if it makes her feel better, she can just refer to EJ as her accomplice. Jada agrees that if she likes what they hear, she’ll go to the judge and get Gwen immunity in exchange for what they need. Gwen asks how she can be so sure she’ll get immunity. Jada responds that Belle would jump at the idea of putting EJ behind bars. Jada asks if they have a deal.

Theo tells Abe that he wishes they would hear something. Abe suggests they go to the cafeteria, since Kayla will text if anything happens. As they walk away, Johnny, Lani, and Paulina arrive at the hospital with Chanel. Paulina questions where the hell everybody is and screams that her daughter is having a baby.

Lexie wakes up to see Kayla at her side and questions where she is. Kayla tells her that she’s at the hospital. Lexie complains that she told Theo not to call anyone as she didn’t want Abe to worry. Kayla says it’s too late for that and asks what’s going on with her. Lexie responds that it began a few weeks ago as she started having symptoms and dizzy spells. Kayla guesses that’s why she cancelled their follow up appointment. Lexie confirms that she didn’t want anyone to know and she thought Dr. Rolf could help her but he wasn’t able to and he said there wasn’t anything else he could for her, so she decided the best she could do for her family was not burden them with watching her die. Kayla asks if that’s why she was at the DiMera Mansion. Lexie admits that she had a whole other plan to disappear. Lexie mentions Kristen but Kayla tells her to save her strength and says she will run her blood work to the lab and be back soon, so Kayla exits.

Gwen comments that Jada seems awfully sure she’ll be able to put EJ away. Jada believes it will be a slam dunk with her testimony. Rafe adds that’s especially if she confirms the contents of her letter. Gwen question what letter while Jada asks if they’re really playing this game. Gwen asks what game, claiming the only letter she knows is the one she wrote to Leo, saying she forgives him. Rafe questions her and argues that they had a deal. Gwen denies that, saying they only talked about the possibility of a deal. Gwen questions why she would incriminate herself when what she says might not be worth anything. Jada tries to reassure her but Gwen points out that her lawyer is not present and she hasn’t called the district attorney yet, so she questions how she knows this isn’t entrapment. Jada tells Gwen that she’s not bargaining from a place of strength and warns that they are fully prepared to charge her solely for Dimitri’s kidnapping. Jada tells Gwen that if she doesn’t want to play ball, they are not going to make her a deal if she has nothing to offer them. Gwen declares that she’s not offering anything without her immunity. Rafe repeats that they had talked about this, but Gwen says only he talked while she listened. Gwen repeats that she’s not saying a word about EJ or anyone else, until she gets her deal.

Kayla gets Chanel in her hospital bed and tells her that she is definitely in labor and having a baby as Johnny, Paulina, and Lani stand nearby. Paulina asks Kayla if there’s anything she needs to do since the baby is coming sooner than expected. Kayla says they are always ready since there’s a chance of labor coming early. Chanel tells Paulina to stop with all the questions as it’s just making more anxious. Lani takes Paulina out to get coffee. Kayla says she will take samples to the lab and says to push the call nurse button if they need anything. Johnny thanks her as she exits. Chanel declares that this is really happening.

Paulina complains about Lani hustling her out of the room. Lani reminds her that Chanel said she was making her anxious. Paulina knows she shouldn’t have asked so many questions but argues that Chanel needs her mom. Lani tells Paulina that what she needs is calm. Paulina worries about Chanel having a baby while having cancer. Lani encourages trusting that the doctors will take care of her. Lani suggests going to get something to eat since they still have awhile to go. Abe and Theo come over. Abe asks what they are doing there. Paulina informs them that Chanel is in labor which Abe calls great news. Lani asks what they are doing there. Theo reveals that they brought Lexie in as she’s not doing too well. Paulina says she’s sorry and that she’s surprised since she thought Lexie was in South Africa. Abe confirms she was never there. Paulina asks if it’s serious. Theo confirms it’s very serious as they don’t think she has much longer, shocking Paulina and Lani.

Johnny brings Chanel ice chips and checks on her. Chanel says she’s feeling alright in between contractions, but worries about having so much more to do as she thought they had more time to shop and set up the nursery. Johnny encourages that they will get it done, reminding her that they weren’t ready when they adopted Trey. Chanel agrees they had no idea what they were doing. Johnny says to look at them now and that they’ve learned and grown so much that he thinks this will be a walk in the park. Chanel worries that they will be waking up every hour to feed, change, and rock the baby. Chanel comments that Trey’s world is about to change so much since he’s been their sole focus for a year now. Johnny says it will be a big adjustment, but he’s used to that, pointing out that he started out his life with Leo and Javi, then adjusted to his whole new family. Johnny knows taking care of two babies will be rough, but says they’ve handled everything else life has thrown at them this year.

Kayla goes to check on Lexie, who says she feels a little better. Kayla reminds Lexie that she was saying something about Kristen before. Lexie explains that Kristen talked her out of leaving, but then EJ found her. Kayla says they can talk about it later as Abe and Theo want to see her, so she goes to get them.

Paulina tells Abe and Theo that she’s so sorry as she can only imagine what they are going through. Kayla comes over and tells them that Lexie is awake and waiting for Abe and Theo. Abe tells Paulina to tell Chanel that he loves her as he and Theo head to Lexie’s room. Lani asks Kayla what’s going on with Lexie. Kayla says she can’t go in to specifics since they aren’t family, but she will say they are lucky they found her. Paulina questions finding her.

Jada questions Gwen not helping them put EJ away, even knowing how dangerous he is and the horrific things he’s done. Gwen worries that EJ might do those horrific things to her. Jada says they can protect her. Gwen doesn’t have faith in the Salem police department against a DiMera and asks what if EJ walks like he always does. Rafe insists that he won’t this time with Gwen’s help and they can finally put him away. Jada adds that Gwen can benefit from that, reminding her that she’s about to buy University Hospital right out from under EJ. Jada adds that would be difficult if Gwen’s in prison. Rafe declares that someone is going down for kidnapping Dimitri and asks if it will be Gwen or EJ. Gwen argues that if they had enough evidence against her, they wouldn’t need her testimony. Gwen states that Dimitri couldn’t prove that she was involved and neither can they. Jada reminds her that they have her confession. Gwen argues that they got that letter without a warrant, so it won’t hold up in court which means they have no evidence against her and no reason to keep her here.

Kayla informs Paulina and Lani that Lexie never left Salem. Paulina says something about going off to South Africa alone never made sense to her. Kayla agrees. Paulina asks if she was holed up in the DiMera Mansion the whole time. Kayla says she doesn’t know for sure as they have more questions than answers. Kayla says she should get back to Lexie. Paulina adds that she hopes Kayla can save her.

Rafe leaves the police station and goes home. Jada informs Gwen that Rafe said he had no reason to stick around since she wasn’t holding up her end of the deal. Gwen argues that she agreed to come back to Salem with Rafe, but that she never said anything about flipping on EJ. Jada says she’ll now live to fight another day. Gwen asks if she can leave now or if she’s going to hold her in a cell until she cooperates. Jada agrees that Gwen is free to go. Gwen complains about Rafe as she walks out of the station.

Rafe returns home. Javi didn’t know he was back and asks if he found Leo. Rafe confirms he did. Javi is relieved and asks where he is. Rafe responds that Leo is in Alamainia. Javi is shocked that Rafe left him there.

Chanel asks Johnny to distract her, so Johnny suggests they can go over baby name ideas. Paulina and Lani come back in to check on them. Lani says they popped in to the gift shop and got a baby shirt for Trey that says “I’m the Big brother” which Chanel says he will love.

Abe and Theo go to see Lexie in her hospital room. Abe says he’s so glad to see she’s awake. Kayla enters and announces that she has the results of Lexie’s blood work, confirming that everything Dr. Rolf said is correct. Abe asks what that means. Lexie instructs Kayla to tell them. Kayla explains that now that the effects of Dr. Rolf’s drug are wearing off, Lexie’s body is shutting down. Kayla tells Lexie that they could increase her fluids, raise her blood pressure, or even give her a transfusion to prolong her time, but it won’t prevent the inevitable. Kayla says they can make her comfortable and give her a little more time with Abe and Theo. Theo asks if Lexie will let them do that so they can all have more time together.

Rafe tells Javi that he didn’t leave Leo as he did what he wanted. Javi argues that Leo would never willingly stay with his psycho ex. Rafe clarifies that to save Gwen, he would. Rafe explains that when he got there, Dimitri was holding Leo and Gwen hostage so Leo offered a deal to let him take Gwen back to Salem and he would stay with Dimitri. Javi calls him a brave idiot and questions what he was thinking. Rafe guesses Leo thought Gwen was in dire straits because of him, so in order to make things right, he agreed to sacrifice his own safety. Javi questions what Rafe was thinking by letting him do that.

Lexie tells Abe and Theo that she didn’t want them to watch her die again. Theo says they aren’t going anywhere and says to let Kayla do everything she can. Kayla says her team can administer the protocol tonight if those are her wishes, but if not, they will respect that. Lexie tells Kayla to do what she can, so Kayla agrees to let her team know. Abe thanks Kayla as she exits. Abe asks Lexie if she’s sure this is what she wants. Lexie says if the medication gives her more time with them, then she can’t say no.

Paulina talks about how they will be shopping for lots of baby clothes when Chanel is up for it. Kayla enters and informs Chanel that her blood counts are a bit low, so they are going to do a transfusion. Paulina worries while Chanel says she understands. Johnny encourages Chanel and says this is what they’ve been practicing for, so today they are going to cross the finish line.

Devlin St. John is asleep on EJ’s bed as EJ sits nearby until Rita arrives with a dose of CRS-17. Rita informs EJ that Chad is downstairs asking to speak with him. EJ tells her to tell Chad that he’s still sick and to get rid of him, while not telling him about their guest. EJ instructs Rita to inject Devlin with the needle. Rita comments that the poor guy is out like a light. EJ argues that before then, Devlin made it clear that he knew all about the Coriseal, so now they have to use this other drug to wipe his brain of the last 24 hours and he forgets he was ever here. EJ continues coughing as Rita comments on him looking terrible. Rita tells EJ to focus on recovering while she takes care of everything else as usual. Rita tells Devlin that she hates to do this as she then injects him with CRS-17. Devlin starts speaking in his sleep, causing EJ to worry that he is coming to. Rita says she better get downstairs to get rid of Chad as she’s sure he’s getting impatient and then she will dispose of the evidence. EJ tells Rita to make it quick.

Lani goes to Abe’s and wishes him a happy birthday. Lani comments on the Christmas decorations. Abe explains that they had Christmas in July as Lexie’s idea until she decided to go God knows where. Lani apologizes for not being able to find out more. Abe is grateful that she did her best. Abe then asks if it would be okay to cancel the birthday dinner as he’s not in the mood. Lani knows he’s upset about Lexie but says it’s important to his kids to celebrate his birthday. Lani adds that it might be good to get his mind off things even for a little while.

Johnny tells Chanel that Trey went down in record time, so it should be easy babysitting for Paulina. Chanel says Paulina should be there any minute. Chanel adds that she hates that Paulina is not coming with them to Abe’s birthday dinner, but she’s glad that Abe is letting them take him out since he deserves a night of being loved and fussed over. Chanel thinks it’s strange that Lexie is out of town and doesn’t seem to care about her husband’s birthday. Johnny wouldn’t go as far as to say she doesn’t care. Chanel questions why she’s not here then as she thinks it’s weird that Lexie just took off without him. Johnny argues that she hasn’t seen her mom since being back, so he wouldn’t say it’s that weird. Chanel questions going without Abe and Theo, then deciding to take a trip halfway across the world on her husband’s birthday. Chanel tells Johnny to imagine she died and came back to life and did that after 15 years, so Johnny then agrees that it’s weird.

Cat and her brother Mark eat together at the Brady Pub. They talk about Aaron talking a lot about Arianna lately as they think he’s smitten. Mark mentions paying Aaron’s college tuition today. Cat offers to wire him the money since they said they would each pay half, but Mark tells her not to worry about it and instead asks if she will pay the spring tuition since he’s not sure he will have a job by then. Mark asks if Cat really thinks EJ will have to sell the hospital. Cat says she doesn’t know since EJ said the deal isn’t done yet, but he could be posturing. Mark feels either way, his days as a lab tech are numbered. Cat asks if that’s because the miracle drug he was working on turned out to not be such a miracle.

Rita goes to the living room and tells Chad that EJ is still sleeping as the flu has really knocked him out. Chad says that he’d say he hopes he feels better, but if it’s true that he ran Kristen out of town, then this is his karma. Rita questions where Chad got that idea. Theo then walks in, asking where his mother is.

Paulina joins Johnny and Chanel at their home. Paulina reminds Chanel not to be wearing herself out as she has three weeks until her child is born. Chanel feels there’s still so much to do and she just realized they don’t have any newborn stuff yet, only from when Trey first came home. Paulina says she’d love to buy newborn clothes. Chanel decides they’ll do it together, insisting that she has so much energy now. Paulina agrees to a mother-daughter shopping date. Chanel thanks her again for watching Trey tonight. Paulina responds that watching her grandbaby is her favorite thing to do, so there’s no need to thank her. Paulina tells them to enjoy Abe’s birthday dinner. Chanel asks if she decided what to do about Abe’s gift. Paulina admits she was leaning towards not giving it to him, but Marlena talked her in to it and said it was important that they stay close to Abe and be there when he needs them. Paulina says that Marlena gave her a funny look when she said that, as if she was trying to say something more without actually saying it. Chanel wonders what she thinks Marlena was trying to say. Paulina feels Marlena seemed worried about Abe, like something’s going on with him that he shouldn’t have to face alone.

Abe tells Lani that he will come to the dinner. Lani says it wouldn’t be a proper birthday celebration without him. Abe warns that he won’t be able to think about anything but Lexie. Lani assures they will all be thinking about her. Lani adds that she and Theo are still convinced that Lexie most likely went somewhere to get treatment, which is concerning but also means she’s getting help. Lani hopes Lexie will be home soon. Abe worries about Lexie being alone and argues that it doesn’t make sense that she thought they wouldn’t figure out that she didn’t go so South Africa. Abe wishes he knew where Lexie was and that he could tell her how much he misses her.

Chad questions if Lexie is missing. Theo responds that he thinks she’s right here in the tunnels. Chad thought she was in South Africa visiting her mom. Theo tells him that was a lie and a cover up. Theo says he thinks she went to get treatment while Marlena told him that she thinks the drug EJ gave her is no longer working. Chad can’t believe it and tells Theo he’s so sorry. Theo argues that EJ could care less and only cares about himself. Theo adds that EJ somehow convinced Lexie to stay here instead of getting help. Theo thinks EJ is hiding Lexie to cover up the drug not working.

Mark comments that it seems like Cat knows more about the drug than he does. Cat reminds him that she is EJ’s assistant. Mark asks if EJ told her something is wrong with the drug. Cat says not directly, but she’s aware that Lexie is very ill and she’s very clear on why Mark and EJ did not want their mother to have that drug. Mark tells Cat that this stays between them, but for awhile now, the rats in the lab have been dying. Mark says when they started slipping away, Dr. Rolf was panicked and calling him to try and figure out some way to revive them. Mark says that Dr. Rolf knew the drug was failing but he was never told something was wrong, he just knew something was up. Cat asks if he’s still in touch with Dr. Rolf. Mark says he’s gone radio silent and he doesn’t even know if he’s with the company anymore. Cat calls that strange and asks if Mark thinks anything can be done for Lexie. Mark says not if the rats are any indication. Mark adds that he doesn’t have any intel but he’s worried about how this could be affecting Lexie. Cat questions EJ not telling him. Mark calls it crazy considering how relevant it is to his job. Cat remarks that’s EJ and says he’s beginning to believe EJ is only transparent with Rita. Mark points out that he told her about Lexie, but Cat says not exactly as she’s just around the mansion and hears things. Mark admits his least favorite part of the job is keeping secrets from people he cares about, which he’s sure Cat understands all too well. Cat questions what he means. Mark points out that she works for EJ too, so he’s sure he’s had her keep a secret or two for him.

Devlin wakes up and sees EJ, noting that he’s in EJ’s bedroom and in his bed. Devlin accuses EJ of luring him here and taking advantage of him. EJ says no one lured him and that he barged in to make a massive piss of himself. Devlin says he does remember now that he was trying to get EJ to do right by the good people of Salem. EJ says he was actually blackmailing him, so he was hoping the second dose of CRS-17 would expunge this encounter. EJ goes to inject Devlin but Devlin blocks him and says he’s not erasing his brain, calling him a bargain basement Bond villain while EJ calls Devlin a sanctimonious parasite. Devlin calls EJ a corporate bloodsucker, a thug, and a menace. Devlin then punches EJ in the face.

Cat tells Mark that EJ doesn’t share a lot with her and is very private. Mark says that might change if she takes the personal assistant job, warning that EJ may ask her to do some shady stuff which is the bulk of what EJ does. Cat stops him and says she understands his concern, but EJ has people for that who have worked for his family for years like Rita. Cat says that EJ just wants her to help with the most mundane tasks. Mark doesn’t want her getting caught flat footed. Cat thinks Mark is dancing around a topic instead of speaking directly to her. Mark then admits that he thinks Cat should step away from the job and from EJ.

Lani assures Abe that they will find Lexie and they are not giving up. Lani adds that she talked to Eli and he’s on it. Abe thought he was on assignment. Lani says that Eli will be back tonight and the odds are Lexie will be back after getting treatment and encourages that she’ll have a tall tale to tell about South Africa. Abe just wishes she was honest with him and hopes the treatment works so she will come back home to him soon.

Paulina comments to Chanel about Lexie going off alone right before Abe’s birthday, calling it downright strange. Paulina wonders if Marlena knows something they don’t. Chanel asks what Johnny thinks. Johnny says he doesn’t know what Marlena could have meant, but they should get going. Chanel tells Paulina that they will keep an eye on Abe at dinner and to call if she needs anything. Paulina tells them to have fun and to tell Abe that she got his gift before Lexie came back. Chanel then gets a pain, so they check on her, but she says it’s just Braxton Hicks and she can’t wait for the three weeks to be up. Chanel thanks Paulina again as she exits with Johnny.

EJ questions Devlin laying a hand on him and slaps him. EJ then picks the needle back up and injects Devlin with CRS-17, causing him to pass out again as he collapses. EJ remarks that it better damn well do the trick as he then also passes out on the bed while Devlin opens his eyes from the floor.

Rita tells Chad and Theo to calm down while Chad tells her to save it because they both know she’s not going to tell them the truth. Chad asks Theo if he’s sure Lexie is in the tunnels. Theo explains that EJ gave him access code so he could visit Lexie before everyone knew she was alive and he just tried it outside, but it seems the code has changed. Chad guesses that’s because EJ has something to hide. Theo says he can just try going through the living room way but Rita stops him.

Johnny and Chanel join Abe and Lani at the Bistro for Abe’s birthday dinner. Chanel questions Theo not being there yet. Lani jokes that it’s the first time they’ve beat him. They joke about Theo always being on time and Abe always being early. Chanel gives Abe his present from Paulina, making sure to tell him that she got it for him before Lexie came back. Abe opens it and it’s a frame with Eli and Lani’s twins Jules and Carver’s hand prints along with Chanel and Johnny’s son Trey’s handprint. Lani recalls Paulina mailing it months ago to get the twins’ hand prints. Johnny points out there’s room for one more hand as he kisses Chanel. Abe calls it a beautiful and special gift. Abe tells Chanel to give Paulina his thanks.

Cat tells Mark that she doesn’t understood since Mark kept insisting that working for EJ wouldn’t get him in any trouble. Mark responds that he’s not breaking the law and doesn’t remember saying everything was on the up and up. Mark adds that it’s not news that working for EJ can lead to some shady stuff and questions Cat not thinking being EJ’s assistant will get her involved in that. Cat appreciates his concern, but assures she can take care of herself. Mark says he knows but questions if it’s worth the headache. Cat asks if Mark has asked himself that. Mark argues that they are in completely different situations as he needed EJ to hire him since University Hospital would never hire him again with his suspended medical license, leaving him twisting in the wind with his student debt, while Cat could probably get a job anywhere else. Cat says she needs a high paying job to support a family since they have Aaron and Felicity to take care of. Cat adds that her resume is not super impressive and EJ offered a generous raise. Mark gets that they need the money, especially if he loses his job which looks more and more likely. Cat asks what if she told him he doesn’t actually have to worry about that.

Rita tells Theo that EJ gave very specific instructions not to allow anyone, including family, in the tunnels without his prior authorization. Meanwhile, Devlin is sneaking down the stairs and overhearing them. Rita tells Theo and Chad that she’s doing her job. Theo threatens to make Rita get out of his way, so Rita steps aside. Chad declares that he’s going with him. Rita warns that EJ will be furious when he hears about this as Chad and Theo enter the tunnels. Rita declares that she is toast. Devlin comes down the stairs. Rita questions what he’s doing down here. Devlin responds that he has no idea and feels like he walked through three different zip codes to reach the stairs. Devlin questions who Rita is and what on earth he’s doing here.

Mark questions Cat saying he doesn’t need to be worried about losing his job. Cat reveals that EJ offered to find him a position at DiMera Pharmaceuticals. Mark questions why she didn’t say so before. Cat says she was going to, but he kept going on about hating how his job forced him to keep secrets, so she wasn’t sure he’d even take it. Mark says he doesn’t have much options so he’d pretty much take anything that came his way, but he doesn’t get why EJ would do this for him. Cat guesses EJ feels bad for them as fellow victims of Clyde Weston. Mark appreciates EJ taking a chance on him and hopes he wouldn’t have to keep as many secrets if he transferred to a legit company like DiMera Pharmaceuticals.

Theo and Chad find Lexie in bed in the room in the tunnels. Theo tells Chad that Abe doesn’t know and it’s his birthday, so he’s at the Bistro. Theo doesn’t want Abe to find out over the phone, so Chad agrees to go get him. Chad states that he’s so sorry EJ did this as he exits. Theo hugs Lexie as she cries.

Rita brings Devlin in to the living room and asks what he last remembers. Devlin recalls being on the golf course with his friend George, then he woke up in somebody’s bedroom and he came downstairs where he overheard someone saying a woman was being held in the tunnels because of a miracle drug failing.

Chad runs in to Cat in the town square. Chad says he doesn’t have time as he has to get to Abe. Chad reveals that they just found Lexie dying in the DiMera tunnels, but guesses Cat already knew that. Chad rushes off, leaving Cat frustrated.

Lani wonders what’s taking Theo so long. Johnny hopes he’s not at the office and decides to text him that whatever it is can wait. Lani asks Chanel if their baby has a name yet. Chanel and Johnny joke that they have 40 options. Lani asks Abe if they want to place a bet on if they are having a boy or girl. Abe jokes that either way, the baby will be spoiled rotten which they all toast to. Chad then arrives and apologizes for interrupting. Chad asks to speak to Abe in private.

Theo tells Lexie that he doesn’t understand why she lied about going to see Grandma and how she ended up here. Lexie tries to respond but starts coughing, so Theo gets her water. Theo tells Lexie that they are going to get her the help she needs and that Abe will be there any minute, so they will get her to the hospital. Theo insists that she’s going to be okay. Lexie responds that she’s not

Chad tells Abe about Lexie while Chanel wonders what they are talking about. Johnny says he has no idea. Abe hugs Chad and hurries out of the Bistro. Chad then goes back to the table and informs them that Abe had to go meet Theo and he knows it’s terrible timing, but it’s urgent. Chanel asks if Theo is okay while Lani questions what’s going on. Chad says Theo is fine but that’s all he can really say. Chad says that Abe will call them and fill them in later. Chad apologizes for interrupting their dinner as he exits.

Devlin complains that his head is pounding and spinning, wondering what is wrong with him. Rita guesses he must be unwell. Devlin argues that he’s never unwell with his immune system. Rita guesses it let him down tonight and suggests he come with her so she can make sure he gets home safely. Devlin argues that he doesn’t know her and talks about being cautious. Rita says she’s impressed by his caution and tells him that he’s right not to trust her. Rita then pulls out a taser from her purse and tases Devlin, causing him to pass out.

Chad walks back through the town square. Cat stops him to try to explain. Chad argues that there’s nothing to explain as Cat promised him this morning that she would let him know if she heard anything about his family, but she knew Lexie was down there the whole time but said and did nothing. Cat asks him to let her speak. Chad says not if she’s going to deny it and says he now he realizes why she assumed he meant Lexie when he asked about Kristen. Cat explains that she wanted to confirm what she heard was true before worrying him without knowing the details. Chad tells her to stop with the lies, excuses, and fake compassion. Chad remarks that Cat’s starting to sound like EJ.

Theo pleads with Lexie not to say that and urges her to try, pointing out that medicine has advanced so much since she’s been gone. Theo tells Lexie to fight because he can’t lose her again. Theo tells Lexie to hang in as he’s going to bring Abe down there.

Chanel, Johnny, and Lani return to Paulina at Chanel and Johnny’s place with takeout. Paulina questions what they are doing home so early. Chanel explains that Abe had to leave before they could order as Chad came in and said that Abe had to go meet Theo. Paulina questions what’s going on. Chanel wishes they knew. Lani says that Chad promised to call and explain everything, so she’s sure they will find out soon enough.

Abe goes to the DiMera Mansion and tells Theo that he came as fast as he could. Theo then brings Abe down the tunnels.

Rita puts Devlin in a chair and wheels him down the tunnels to a DiMera Enterprises lab. Devlin wakes up and asks where he is now. Rita tells him that they are sending him on a nice trip out of town where he will be traveling in style. Devlin complains about being tazed. EJ then appears and screams at Rita, questioning what is going on down there. EJ complains that it sounded like grand central station from his room and questions why Devlin is still in his house. Devlin recognizes EJ as being from the notorious DiMeras and comments on him being in his pajamas. EJ asks if Devlin ever shuts up and remarks that he should have his own talk show. Rita tells EJ that he shouldn’t be down there and that he should go back upstairs. Devlin agrees and says he’ll just be on his way. EJ wants Devlin gone permanently. Rita tells EJ that she first has some flu medicine for him. EJ says he’ll take anything to get rid of this cough. Rita then grabs a bottle of CRS-17 pills and gives it to EJ, which he then swallows. EJ thanks Rita and exits to head back upstairs. Devlin tells Rita that his ferrets are waiting for him at home, so he pleads with her to let him go home.

Chad tells Cat that he tried to warn her about EJ and tried to protect her from his influence because he’s seen what it does but she wouldn’t listen to him. Cat argues that it’s not what this is and that she’s not like EJ. Cat admits that she sees the good in EJ but she knows the kind of man he is and the things she’d never do. Chad asks if she means like hiding his sister away and not letting anyone know she’s dying just to cover up his miracle drug not working. Chad remarks that Cat knew all of this and did nothing, saying that is so bad. Cat tells Chad that there are reasons that she hasn’t told him but she wasn’t going to keep this from him forever. Cat insists that she was waiting to find out what was happening for sure and she only just last night overheard EJ saying Lexie might still be in the house. Chad questions why he should believe anything Cat says to him, arguing that she’s been lying to him ever since they met. Chad remarks that he thought she was done after masquerading around town as his dead wife, but maybe not. Chad adds that maybe the whole time they were together, she was just pretending and playing her part. Chad declares that he finally gets to see Cat for who she really is as he storms off.

Paulina asks if they are sure Theo is fine. Chanel says that’s what Chad said. Johnny is sure he would’ve said if they need to be worried. Chanel notes that Abe seemed pretty worried and wonders if it could have something to do with Lexie. Paulina brings up that Chad is Lexie’s brother. Chanel then gets a sudden pain and declares that she thinks she’s going in to labor.

Theo brings Abe to the room in the tunnels to find Lexie unconscious in the bed.

Rita has Devlin unconscious and calls him a breath of fresh air, commenting that she reminds him of a comedian on TV who shouts the news. Rita admits she has a crush on Devlin so she can’t bring herself to kill him. Rita says they will split the baby and EJ will never know. Devlin wakes up, asking why he’s being placed in a pod. Rita hopes he will be comfortable. Rita reveals that she wrote his resignation letter to the city government and just needs his signature. Devlin argues that he’s only three years from retirement, so he asks why he’s retiring. Rita informs him that he’s on his way to paradise. Devlin asks if he needs a passport. Rita tells him to just have faith that he will return on day as she just wishes they had met under different circumstances. Rita kisses Devlin and then has the pod close in with him.
