Kevin: You always do.

Chloe: I uh– I don’t know.
Gloria: Just be very careful because the sap is toxic.
Kevin: Nobody knows toxic like my mother.

Kevin: Oh, some of us have had more than enough.
Chloe: You know what? We’ve got everything under control. And I think everything looks gorgeous given the time that we had to put it all together. And I mean, isn’t it just so romantic? Lauren and michael renewing their vows on the stroke of midnight.
Kevin: Totally.
Gloria: Angel, when was the last time you did something romantic for chloe?
[ Kevin chuckling ]
Chloe: Oh, last night, he did the dishes.
Gloria: And what is romantic about that?
Chloe: He did it with his shirt off.
Kevin: It doesn’t get much more romantic than that.
Gloria: Oh, spare me.
Lauren: Ah, thank you, darling.
Michael: How is it that you’re even more beautiful than when we first walked into this place.
Lauren: It must be because I have the love of the most amazing man I’ve ever known.
Michael: Good answer.
Lauren: So, why didn’t we think to do this before?
Michael: Eating dinner?
Lauren: No, silly. Renewing our vows on new year’s eve?
Michael: Oh, well, at the stroke of midnight, you will be my one and only wife, all over again.
Lauren: It’s inspired.
Michael: You, me, new year’S. What more could you want?
Lauren: Absolutely nothing.
Michael: I can’t think of a more perfect way to spend the new year.
Danny: I can’t tell you how incredibly happy I am that I’m spending new year’s eve with you.
Christine: So am I. And I– I feel like I should apologize for earlier.
Danny: Why?
Christine: I– I– I just feel like I upset you when I asked you if there was a part of you still interested in phyllis?
Danny: Hey, I thought we settled that?
Christine: No, we did. We did. And– and you’re right. We’re in a really good place. I’m in a really good place and I have you to thank for that. When this year started, I, um, I couldn’t see past the sadness of my marriage ending. And now us reconnecting, I mean, it’s just, it’s something that I never expected and it means so much to me because you know, you’ve given me a sense of– of peace and– and hope that I never thought I’d have again. And I don’t know, things just feel right for the first time in a really long time.
Danny: The beautiful girl that I fell in love with a long time ago is– is right here in front of me. We’ve come a long way, haven’t we?
Christine: Yeah.
Danny: And I– I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Daniel: Oh, wow.
Danny: Oh, hey.

Christine: Hey. Happy new year.
Daniel: Ah, happy new year. You know, I’d say that I hope I’m not interrupting, but I can see that I definitely am. Maybe we should go old school, do a little necktie on the doorknob action?

Tucker: I think you might be right. I’ve been thinking genoa city is getting a little too suffocating for me. It might be time to kiss it goodbye.
Ashley: Of course. Things are getting difficult, so you have to run away.
Tucker: Maybe if we ignore her, she’ll go away.
Ashley: What about that sweet little boy? Dominic loves you.
Tucker: Yeah, well, he’s a party of one. It’s hard to stay in a place where everyone else can’t stand you.

Daniel: You know, why don’t I give you guys a little space? I’m gonna come back later.
Danny: No, no, no, no. Look, uh, cricket and I were just on our way to dinner, and, um, well, we got sidetracked.
Daniel: Yeah. No. I– I saw.
Christine: Hey, why don’t you join us for dinner?
Danny: Yeah.
Daniel: Thank you. Um, but no. Um, I actually have big plans for this evening.
Danny: Really?
Daniel: Mm-hmm. I’m gonna start the night off with a little video chat with lily. And then I was thinking about maybe watching a romcom or two or three and totally pigging out on junk food.
Christine: Ah, junk food and romcoms.
Daniel: Yeah, it’s the best. You gotta pair the right junk food with the right movie though. Like you– you would never do popcorn and moonstruck. No, that’s pizza territory. Otherwise…
Christine: It does sound kind of fun, so…
Daniel: Well, you’re welcome to stay. I mean, you’re standing there with my dad who happens to be an expert on the subject.
Christine: It’s your fault.
Danny: Hey, what can I say? New year’s eve gigs on the road. What? Eating junk food. Watching romcoms. This is like a romalotti tradition, right?
[ Knock on door ]
Daniel: Hang on. Hey, what is this?
Heather: Lucy mentioned you didn’t have plans.
Lucy: So, romcoms and junk food.
[ Daniel mouthing ]
Danny: I told you.
Christine: Yeah.
Michael: To my darling wife. You dazzle me more with the passing of every year.
Lauren: Ah, thank you, sweetie.
Michael: Don’t look now. This is our night.
Lauren: Yeah, but she is our friend. And in fact, daniel wanted us to talk to her.
Michael: You’re right. Phyllis!
Phyllis: Hey, you two look cozy.
Michael: Please, join us.
Phyllis: Well, you know, I don’t wanna intrude.
Michael: Come on.
Lauren: We want you to.
Phyllis: All right. Okay, then. Dirty martini, two olives. Two, two, two.
Lauren: So, are you ready to ring in the new year? I hope you’re free because we have some big–
Phyllis: I’m not doing the new year this year.
Michael: Well, I hate to tell you phyllis, but the new year’s coming, whether you participate or not.
Phyllis: Well, I disagree. What I’m gonna do is I’m gonna go to sleep and when I wake up, I’m gonna hope that 2024 was better than this year, for me.
Michael: You had a bad year. But yeah. Okay, you had a disastrous year, right?
Phyllis: Yeah. Uh-huh.
Michael: But that doesn’t mean you can’t ring in 2024 and raise a glass to better days ahead.
Phyllis: I don’t know. I don’t think that downing a glass of champagne or a bottle for that matter is gonna change the way I feel. So, I’m not gonna bother.
Lauren: So what happened to can do phyllis? You know, uplifting, positive, changing things for the better phyllis.
Phyllis: I’m still changing things for the better phyllis, that’s for sure. But sometimes, you know, you try and the universe just kicks you in the teeth.
Lauren: Are you talking about danny?
Phyllis: Um, why would you say that to me?
Michael: Daniel might have mentioned something.
Phyllis: Oh, did he? So, you guys are talking behind my back? ‘Cause that’s what friends do, right?
Lauren: Only when they’re concerned.
Phyllis: Okay. Well. Ah, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Mm-hmm. You don’t have to be concerned about me. So, what did my son tell you?
Michael: That he’s worried about you.
Phyllis: Well, it’s not me you should be worried about. It’s danny.
Michael: Daniel said you had a private talk with danny and I’m guessing from this mood of yours that it didn’t turn out well?
Phyllis: Why can’t danny see that christine isn’t right for him? You know, I mean, really, it’s embarrassing. She comes over, you know, knocking on his door, out of the blue, looking at him with these puppy dog eyes. I mean, it’s truly, truly pathetic.
Lauren: Wow. All this concern for danny.
Phyllis: Yeah.
Lauren: Yeah. You wouldn’t be interested in having him for yourself, would you?
Phyllis: I’m sorry, what? Why would you say that? We are– we are– we are just co-parents. We’re friends.
Michael: Are you sure you’re not falling into that awful habit of being competitive with christine?
Phyllis: I’m not competitive with christine. And why is it that all the time people think big bad phyllis is after scrawny, little, scrawny, skinny christine? Why do people think that? I mean, it’s ridiculous. Yes. Maybe danny is drawn into, you know, all these feelings for christine because it’s familiar. I mean, honestly, she has jumped from one, not even done marriage, to an ex.
Michael: Why? Why is it ridiculous? I mean, after all these years, if the flame is still there, there could be some real emotion between these two people–
Phyllis: Okay. There’s no flame. There’s no flame. Seriously? Real emotion? It’s nothing. Like I said, it’s familiar, you know? But it’s nothing romantic, nothing like what he could have.
Lauren: Honey, why are you pursuing this?
Phyllis: Well, who says I’m pursuing anything?
Ashley: Look, I don’t care what you do or where you go, but devon and dominic might.
Tucker: This again. What is it with you? You blew any chance I had of a relationship with devon the minute you decided to destroy my reputation.
Ashley: Do you ever take responsibility for the things you do, ever? Because you brought this on yourself and you know it. You were coming after jabot, and you– you left me no choice. Look, I get it. There’s no hope for us. But there is hope for you and devon and dominic unless you–
Tucker: You don’t know when to stop, do you?
Ashley: Listen…
Tucker: You talk this big game about being so concerned about my relationship with devon and then you dropped this bomb which has essentially destroyed my relationship with devon. So what makes you think you– that I could trust anything you say now? What makes you believe that you could talk me into sticking around this damn town? Want the power of 5 serum benefits in 1?
Ashley: Clearly, whether you stay in town or leave has nothing to do with me.
Tucker: Yeah, that’s right. Nothing I do from this point forward is going to have anything to do with you.
Ashley: I know that dominic and devon need your–
Tucker: Can you hear anything I’m saying to you?
Ashley: Yes, I’ve heard it all. I know devon wants nothing to do with you, but it doesn’t mean you just run away. You have to fight for the people you love. How do you not know that? You can’t just run. Unless being a father and a grandfather means nothing to you?
Tucker: Being a father and a grandfather means everything to me. But you took a match to it! You! Right after you broke my heart.
Ashley: So what are you gonna do?
Tucker: You destroyed everything that mattered to me.
Ashley: What are you gonna do, tucker? Are you gonna throw a glass of wine? Are you– are you gonna toss a chair? Are you gonna do that? Just like it’s gonna be paris all over again?
Tucker: What does that mean?
Ashley: You know what? When you stormed out of that restaurant, I promised myself I was never gonna let you frighten me again.
Tucker: I don’t want you to be frightened. What?
Ashley: You were fine with it that night, weren’t you?
Tucker: I would never be violent toward you, ashley.
Ashley: Oh, so you don’t think that throwing a chair and smashing a wine glass in a restaurant wasn’t violent?
Tucker: There was no smashing of wine glasses. I– I didn’t throw– what are you talking about?
Lucy: This scene is so goofy.
Daniel: Mm-hmm. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Lucy: No, I mean, well, unless we watched another movie.
Daniel: Yeah, we could do that.
Heather: A second one? You know your dad always falls asleep before the first movie is over.
Daniel: What? I do not.
Both: Yes, you do.
Lucy: And you snore.
Daniel: Wow. Wow. Thank you. I’m feeling a little outnumbered here.
Heather: Cheers to that.
Daniel: You know what? I’m gonna prove it to you. I’m gonna stay up for a second movie tonight. Yeah. No, it is. New year’s eve. We do have some ringing in to do, but I get to pick the movie. And since it was just christmas, we can watch my favorite christmas movie, die hard.
Heather: No, no, that’s not a christmas movie.
Daniel: Uh-uh. Christmas tree. Happy ending. Christmas movie.
Heather: Bombs and blood, not a christmas movie.
Daniel: Okay. Lucy, is die hard a christmas movie?
Lucy: Um, yeah. Total christmas movie.
Heather: Traitor.
Daniel: Yippee-ki-yay, darlin’.
Heather: Okay. Now, I am feeling outnumbered. But are you sure it’s not too, you know, scary?
Lucy: Mom. I was seven.
Heather: And insisting to sleep right between us and you wouldn’t move the entire night.
Phyllis: The only thing I’m going to be pursuing is a healthy relationship with the father of my child. Okay? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but danny and I, since he’s been back in town, have become quite close. While everybody else here curses my name and walks the other way when they see me, he’s been loving and supportive and caring. He’s really given me a boost. I’m returning the favor. That’s all I’m doing.
Michael: Ah, save him from himself.
Phyllis: Or something much worse.
Christine: Danny, you okay?
Danny: Yeah, um… hey, um, why don’t we go somewhere else, huh?
Christine: Oh, not a chance.
Not flossing well?

Tucker: Yeah, I yelled. I made a scene. No doubt about it, but violent? I think the most physical thing that happened was I– I tipped over a wine glass accidentally. And I may have pushed aside a chair as I left.
Ashley: Are you kidding me? This is how you’re choosing to remember it. Are you–
Tucker: That’s what happened.
Ashley: Okay. Well, maybe that’s why you’ve been such an ass since I came back from paris. You’re making nothing of it. I mean, you are– you are not acknowledging anything that you did.
Tucker: I’m not gonna acknowledge something that didn’t occur.
Ashley: This is unbelievable.
Tucker: And I apologize for what did occur. The yelling, the scene. Does that not count for anything?
Ashley: No. Not unless you’re gonna admit to the truth.
Tucker: What is this? Is this– is this another one of your games? Are you trying to drag my name further through the mud? Spread some lie that I’m violent?
Ashley: Everything I said about you is true. And you’re just pissed off because you can’t put your spin on it like you always do.
Tucker: You know what? We’re done. We’re done. Why don’t you run along to that family that means so damn much to you? I’m sure you have plans to toast my downfall.
Ashley: Don’t flatter yourself, tucker. We’re not gonna be thinking about you at all tonight.
Tucker: Fantastic. You have a nice life.
Ashley: Are you really gonna deny that you were that violent in paris? You’re gonna deny that? So, I’m the delusional one?
[ All chuckling ]
Lucy: That is so lily. I mean, when you were telling your dad jokes and she laughed so hard she got the hiccups.
Daniel: I’m sure she’ll love that you held on to that. Um, also just for the record my jokes aren’t dad jokes.
Lucy: Oh, they totally are.
Heather: They are. Ooh, ooh, ooh. Cease fire, cease fire. Popcorn is too delicious. Thank you. I’ll take it.
Lucy: I’ll get you back. So, how is lily? How’s mattie?
Daniel: Well, mattie has been through a lot. You know, she lost her mentor. She was almost hurt by that fire, so there’s just been a lot of trauma.
Lucy: Yeah, that’s awful.
Daniel: She’s gonna be withdrawing from school for the rest of the quarter. And lily, you know, she just wants to stay with her. She’d like her to get some professional help, but until then, she’s not gonna leave her side.
Heather: I don’t blame her. You know, that’s what moms do.
Daniel: And lily is the best. Right up there with present company.
Heather: Yeah. That was a nice save, huh?
Lucy: Yeah.
Heather: Well, I guess, uh, lily will probably be out west for a little while, huh?
Daniel: Mm-hmm. I’m actually gonna try and move some stuff around in my schedule so I can get out there and spend next weekend with them. Maybe even stay a little bit longer.
Heather: Oh, that’s– that’s wonderful.
Lucy: Come on. We’re gonna miss the best part.
Heather: You guys and the popcorn.
Christine: Happy new year.
Danny: Happy new year.
Michael: Happy new year to you too.
Lauren: Ooh, that bracelet is beautiful.
Christine: Oh, thank you. A christmas present from danny.
Lauren: You have very good taste.
Christine: He got me a similar one on our honeymoon in wailea, but I lost it years ago and he remembered how much I loved it and got me this one. So, do you have any special plans to ring in the new year?
Lauren: Actually, we do. We are gonna renew our vows at the stroke of midnight.
Christine: Oh, that’s a fantastic idea.
Danny: How romantic.
Phyllis: Wait, you– you didn’t tell me this.
Lauren: Well, I tried, but the conversation somehow got hijacked.
Michael: That’s why we asked what you were doing. We wanted you to join the festivities. No matter how much you hate the new year, we know you love us.
Lauren: So, come on, you gonna join us?
Phyllis: Well, I– I’d like to, but yeah, I have a date.
Michael: You said you weren’t doing anything?
Phyllis: No, I did not. I said that I was not going to ring in the new year. That doesn’t mean that, you know, I don’t have a non-new year date.
Christine: With who?
Phyllis: Um, him. Him. There he is now.
Lauren: Tucker?
Right now get a free

Phyllis: Yeah. Uh, tucker. Hey! Right here.
Tucker: Hey, what’s up? Hi.
Christine: Hi.
Tucker: Hi.
Phyllis: So, um, are– are we still on for later?
Tucker: Yes. Yeah, nothing’s changed on my end. But we didn’t work out. Am I picking you up or…
Phyllis: However you want. I mean, I could come to you.
Tucker: Perfect. Sounds like a plan.
Phyllis: All right. I’ll see you then.
Tucker: Oh, you look great.
Phyllis: Oh, thanks.
Tucker: I’m really looking forward to it.
Danny: We’re gonna go grab a drink in the lounge before dinner. And, uh, hey, it was so great seeing you all. And, uh, congratulations again on the vow renewal.
Christine: Oh, I’m so happy for you guys.
Michael: Thanks.
Lauren: Thank you.
Danny: We’ll see you, okay?
Lauren: What is wrong with you?
Michael: Please don’t tell us that you’re gonna spend new year’s eve with that low life instead of coming to your best friend’s vow renewal.
Lauren: Was that even real? Did you just orchestrate that whole thing to make danny jealous?
Phyllis: Why? Of course, it was real. Tucker has a business proposal and I’m going to hear him out.
Lauren: Wonderful. Do it tomorrow, during business hours.
Michael: And tell him there’s not a chance in hell that you would work with him. Because there isn’t, is there?
Phyllis: Of course… not.
Michael: Huh. Well, good. Now that we’ve got that cleared up, please don’t disappoint us by making a point with danny that you insist you’re not making.
Phyllis: Right. I– I will– I will try to come. You guys know I love you, right?
Michael: We do.
Lauren: Yes. And that is why we would like you to be there to share in our happiness.
Phyllis: I will try to be there. Like I said.
Lauren: Oh, honey, we have a vow renewal to get to. Hope to see you later.
Michael: We expect to see you there.
Heather: Well, you guys were totally right. It was definitely a christmas movie.
Lauren: Oh, my goodness. It’s gorgeous.
Michael: My god, you guys have outdone yourselves.
Gloria: Ah, it was nothing really. Although, I can’t vouch for the flowers.
Lauren: Oh, well. Thank you.
Chloe: We are just so thrilled for you and michael. And for us, that we could be a part of it.
Michael: Well done, brother. You’re the best.
Kevin: Oh, you. Back at you.
Gloria: I am just so happy for both of you. I mean, who would have thought that you two would have lasted all this time?
Michael: That’s so funny.
Gloria: And you look absolutely ravishing. Michael is lucky to have you.

Lauren: I’m the lucky one.
Kevin: Okay. Okay. Save it for the ceremony.
Gloria: Is it too early for bubbles?
Kevin: Ah, yes, mother. Oh, and this particular bottle arrived just before you did. It’s from scotty who’s sorry he couldn’t be here.
Lauren: Ah, and finn and trey can’t be here either, but they send their love.
Kevin: Ah. Do you have the rings?
Michael: Oh, hold on. Yes. Yes.
Kevin: All right. Excellent. Okay. I’m gonna pick out some music, set the mood.
Gloria: And I’m going to help.
Chloe: Oh, and I will get your bouquet.
Lauren: Okay.
Michael: You okay?
Lauren: I think I’m nervous. Just like when we did this so long ago.
Michael: You’re even more radiant, if that’s possible. You ready to do this, mrs. Baldwin?
Lauren: I couldn’t be more ready, mr. Baldwin.

Minister: We are here to celebrate with lauren and michael as they reaffirm their commitment to their vows.
Lauren: Michael, when we stood here the last time, I said to you. “I love you today, “I love you tomorrow and forever.” And we said these vows to each other without knowing what the future would hold. But what we did know is that we had each other. And back then you were, uh, how should I say this? Uh, something of a bad boy. But I knew under that edge was a magnificent heart that beats for everyone that you love.
Ashley: Hey, jack. Traci! Anybody! Hello! Where is everybody?
Tucker: I’m done. Goodbye, ashley. You go to hell!
Ashley: Okay.
Lauren: I’ve watched you put everything on the line. For your family, for your friends, and for me. Your strength, your belief in us has gotten us through the impossible. Your capacity for forgiveness. There were days when I did not think that we would make the happily ever after that we promised each other. But you did. You never gave up on me. And you didn’t let me give up. And I’m so glad you didn’T.
Tucker: I’m done. Goodbye, ashley. Go to hell.
Lauren: Honesty is hard. Trust is hard. And love isn’t a magic wand, but it is the miracle that makes honesty possible and trust a reality. And you taught me that.
[ Phone chiming ]
Tucker: We can still have that drink if you want?
Lauren: We have loved, we’ve lost. We have cried and laughed ’til our sides ached. And we’ve tangoed. And we’ve raised two extraordinary sons. Do you remember when I told you that I was pregnant with finn? And you were so worried that you weren’t going to be a good father? And you’re the best. You are exactly what he needed and they both love you so much.
Heather: Hm. Oh.
Daniel: Hey.
Heather: Hi.
Daniel: Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you up.
Heather: No, I’m sorry. I didn’t– I didn’t– I didn’t even realize I fell asleep.
Daniel: Hm.
Lauren: Michael baldwin, you are the love of my life. And happily ever after starts every morning that I get to wake up with you. So, I will tell you again. I love you today, I love you tomorrow and forever.
Michael: Mm. That’s a hard act to follow. But I would follow this one anywhere. I once told you that I didn’t have as much faith in goodness as you did. I still doubt a great deal of what goes on in this universe, the goodness of it. But there is one thing that I have never doubted and that is our love for each other. Even on our darkest days, there was always love. I mean, we tested the hell out of it, but it just made us stronger. It made me love you more. I am in awe of your honesty and your courage. And your ability to see hope on every horizon. It’s because of you, your faith in us, that we are standing here, right now in this moment. You took a chance on a man who was too much at war with the world. And you showed me the kind of love that I never thought I’d have or deserve. You’ve given me a family, a safe space. And laughter. All the joy of you. Of us. It lights up every day of my life.
