Alex and Stephanie walk to the town square where Stephanie comments that it’s starting to feel real. Alex encourages that she is about to get her flowers as Anastasia Sands. Stephanie worries about potential criticism and judgment. Alex promises that she’s going to be amazing. Alex looks around and suggests Stephanie go in to the book store first so they don’t blow their cover by going in together. Stephanie decides that makes sense, so they head off in opposite directions.

At the Horton house, Chad calls upon Thomas so they can get to the town square for Halloween. Chad questions Thomas as to where his costume is as he comes downstairs and tells Chad that he’s not going to wear it because he’s not going.

Jeremy sets up the pumpkin launch in the park. Alex appears to confront him and tells Jeremy not to speak as he’s going to listen to him now. Alex reveals that Stephanie told him what he did and warns that if he ever comes near her again, he will drag his ass to the river and hold him underwater. Jeremy knows what he did was wrong and says he’s not the same person he was then. Alex argues that people don’t change that much. Jeremy responds that he did and says he apologized to Stephanie and he is going to stay away. Jeremy says he doesn’t want to make Stephanie’s life more difficult as he owes her that much, but he doesn’t owe Alex anything so he warns him to back off. Amy’s son and Sophia’s little brother, Cooper Choi, approaches and recognizes Jeremy as his teacher, telling him that Amy said he can do his extra credit project. Alex warns Jeremy that this isn’t over and walks away.

Marlena sits with Rachel in the town square, encouraging her to carve her pumpkin for her class. Rachel complains that Jeremy always takes Thomas’s side when they get in a fight as she calls him lame and the project stupid. Marlena says she won’t have him talk like that and demands she respect Jeremy as her teacher. Rachel responds that she’s sorry but Marlena doesn’t think she is sorry and doesn’t like her attitude.

Leo brings Tesoro past the Brady Pub and calls Javi, asking if he’s close as he has to get to the book signing. Javi tells him he has to work a double shift, so Leo says he understands and will just take Tesoro with him to the event. Johnny and Chanel start to walk up but turn and go the other way. Leo tells Tesoro that their time may be winding down, but he brought so much joy to their lives and they will always love him so much.

At the book store, Julie tells Stephanie that they are about ready to go. Alex arrives, so Stephanie asks where he went. Alex says he just had to take care of something and asks if she’s ready for her public unveiling. Stephanie responds that she’s as ready as she’ll ever be as they kiss.

Chad questions Thomas not wanting to go when he’s been talking about this for weeks. Thomas responds that Jack and Jennifer are taking Charlotte trick or treating, so he’d rather go with them. Chad tells him that he understands Thomas being upset with him and wanting to distance himself from him, but he will not allow him to punish himself.

Cat runs in to Leo outside of the Pub and they talk about Tesoro. Leo mentions hearing the DNA test confirmed Aaron is the father, so he asks if Cat would like to hold her nephew. Cat says she would like that very much.

Rachel asks if Marlena is mad at her. Marlena says she’s not, but she thinks she needs to give Jeremy a chance as it’s his first year teaching and he’s doing his best. Marlena suggests starting with the pumpkin chucking tonight. Rachel declares that first they are going to gut this pumpkin and raises the carving knife over her head but Marlena stops her and says she will do that.

Chanel goes to the book store where Julie thanks her for the bakery partnering with her book store. Chanel calls it a win win situation and the perfect fit for her to expand. Johnny comes in and tells Stephanie that there are dozens of fans lined up outside to meet her. Stephanie calls it still crazy to think that many people are fans of her. Johnny tells her to get used to it as she’s going to be a star now. Johnny asks if she needs anything else from Titan publicity. Stephanie suggests checking with Alex. Stephanie tells Johnny that she’s so sorry as she heard the adoption isn’t going his way. Alex asks Chanel if there’s anything he can help with. Chanel says she’s just glad to have something to keep her busy right now. Alex asks if everything is okay. Chanel says not really as they just ran in to Tesoro and it was pretty sad because it seems like the adoption is going to fall through. Alex tells her that he’s so sorry. Chanel can’t believe that they are back here as she keeps getting her hopes up and the rug is pulled out over and over again. Chanel says she shouldn’t be feeling sorry for herself since she is so lucky in so many ways. Alex tells her that she is allowed to feel sorry for herself since it is rough as he hugs her.

Thomas asks Chad how he’s punishing himself. Chad says he knows Thomas wants to go to the Horton Town Scare tonight and he’s a big fan of Halloween. Thomas admits it is still his favorite holiday. Chad bets he’d be pretty unhappy if he decided not to go and missed out on all the fun which Thomas reluctantly admits. Chad suggests Thomas put aside how angry he is at him for tonight so he can have a good time, then he can be angry at him again tomorrow. Chad adds that he’s seen pictures from the town square and it looks lit. Thomas responds that nobody says that and goes to get his costume.

Marlena brings Rachel to the pumpkin launch where Jeremy greets them and says he’s glad Rachel made it. Rachel questions his costume, which Jeremy says is the science guy. Rachel is unimpressed and tells Marlena that she’ll see her later as she walks away. Jeremy tells Marlena that he’s really glad Rachel decided to come. Marlena says she is too.

Bonnie goes to the book store and talks to Alex about the excitement of the book signing. Bonnie says she can’t wait to meet Anastasia Sands. Alex points out the line is outside so she might be waiting for hours. Bonnie argues that she’s a celebrity, reminding him of her time on Body and Soul. Bonnie asks if being Alex’s stepmother won’t get her anywhere. Alex tells her to wait outside and agrees to see what he can do as she exits.

Marlena walks back to the town square and runs in to Johnny and Chanel. Chanel greets her and then quickly goes to check on the Bakery. Marlena notes that she seemed distracted. Johnny tells Marlena that Chanel is heartbroken because it doesn’t look like the adoption is going to work out. Marlena says she’s so sorry.

Cat puts Tesoro back in his stroller as Leo talks about how they love him. Cat calls Tesoro lucky to be so cared for. Cat imagines Leo might have assumed Aaron will be signing away his parental rights. Leo confirms that he did assume that and says he can’t imagine going through something like this at Aaron’s age, finding out he’s a father and giving up his child. Cat confirms that Aaron is very shaken up at the moment, but all that matters is knowing that Tesoro will be placed with good people who love him. Cat says she can’t imagine how hard it is to part with him. Leo says he was just telling Javi that he’s been in denial that taking care of Tesoro would end some day but there’s no more denial. Leo admits it is really hard, but the important thing is knowing he will always be loved which he is certain of. Leo calls Tesoro so damn special and gets emotional. Leo states that Tesoro will always be in his heart. Leo decides that instead of feeling sad and sorry, he and Javi have been trying to focus on how fortunate they have been to have Tesoro in their lives. Cat says it’s clear Tesoro is lucky too. Cat brings up working for EJ and being busy with the upcoming clinic. Leo knows she heard he was caught trespassing in the construction zone. Leo claims he was looking for his lost ear bud, wishes her a Happy Halloween, and then hurries off with Tesoro.

Chad brings Thomas to the park where Jeremy is with Rachel. Jeremy asks if Thomas is ready to get his science on. Thomas says he guesses so as he goes with Rachel. Jeremy asks Chad if Thomas is still giving him a hard time. Chad responds that he thinks they are through the worst of it and it’s getting better. Jeremy asks if there’s anything he can do. Chad says he’ll let him know. Rachel tells Thomas that she’s thankful he’s there as she was worried she’d be partnered with Jeremy, who she calls Mr. Boring. Thomas asks why she came then. Rachel responds that Marlena forced her to. Thomas says at least the catapult will be fun though. Rachel doesn’t think so, unless they find a way to make it fun…

Chad joins Marlena in the book store as they get in line for Anastasia Sands signing. Johnny walks in with Bonnie and escorts her to the front of the line, explaining to Marlena and Chad that Alex thought it would be good to have a former soap star near the front. Marlena understands and guesses Johnny will be busy filming the event which he confirms. Julie then welcomes everyone to the grand opening of Book Club and talks about being a customer and now thrilled to be the new owner. Julie announces their special guest, Anastasia Sands, who appears in her costume with a mask. Julie then introduces Alex, who thanks her for taking over Book Club and calls it a wonderful place in Salem. Alex says they are honored to gather to introduce Anastasia Sands, who has become one of the greatest success stories in the publishing world with her novel, One Stormy Night, being a tremendous success. Alex knows many have been waiting for her second novel, Write Out. Alex then announces that Anastasia Sands has decided to reveal her true identity. Alex then presents the real author of One Stormy Night, Stephanie Johnson. Johnny and Leo film it as everyone applauds. Chad and Marlena talk about not seeing that coming. Marlena asks Chad how Thomas is doing after Rachel apologized. Chad says Thomas is using what happened with Cat as his new found superpower against him. Chad talks about putting his foot down while trying to regain his trust and it being a delicate balance. Marlena understands there’s a fine line. Chad agrees that it’s not easy.

Rachel asks Thomas if Chad is still sneaking around with Cat Green. Thomas says no as he said they are over. Rachel questions believing him. Thomas confirms that Chad seems so sad and he kind of feels bad for him. Rachel tells him not to and argues that it’s how grown ups are. Rachel says the minute Thomas goes easy on Chad, he’ll think it’s okay to get back with Cat.

Bonnie talks to Stephanie about having them all fooled and says she and Justin really enjoyed her book as it spiced up their life. Bonnie takes selfies with Stephanie at the table as Alex then escorts away. Marlena congratulates Stephanie and says she can’t wait to read her new book. Stephanie gives her a signed copy. Chad then approaches and comments on Stephanie being full of surprises. Chad says he’s so happy for her. Stephanie reveals that she actually wrote this while they were together and the other was back in Seattle. Chad knew she loved to write, but calls her so impressive and congratulates her on everything. Chanel tells Alex that today was a huge success. Alex says the customers wiped out everything from the Bakery. Chanel says she’s not going to steal Stephanie’s thunder. Alex comments that Stephanie got to come out on her own terms, for the most part. Chanel asks what he means. Alex responds that he thinks Chad is the only ex of Stephanie’s that was surprised because everyone else seemed to figure out Stephanie was Anastasia just from reading her book.

Leo walks through the town square with Tesoro and talks with Johnny about his Spectator posts and his exclusive with Stephanie. Johnny asks Leo how things are going with Tesoro. Leo thinks he misses Javi. Leo asks Johnny to watch Tesoro while he goes to say goodbye to Stephanie, insisting he won’t be long so Johnny agrees as Leo heads back to Book Club. Johnny watches over Tesoro and says it looks like it’s just them.

Leo tells Stephanie that their interview is already getting a gazillion hits. Stephanie admits she would’ve preferred to remain anonymous but the coming out party wasn’t half bad. Leo argues that it was absolutely fabulous and says they really pulled it off. Stephanie admits they make a pretty good team as they hug.

Bonnie runs in to Susan outside of the Brady Pub and questions where she’s been as she hoped that she would make it to the book signing. Susan talks about not wanting to stand in line. Bonnie then reveals to Susan that Anastasia Sands turned out to be Stephanie, which surprises Susan. Bonnie can’t believe Susan didn’t get a vibe to clue them in on that. Susan guesses she’s been off her game and focusing so much on getting her median degree. Susan adds that she hadn’t even got a vibe on what Stephanie’s next book is supposed to be about. Bonnie feels it will be thrilling and suspenseful as she then presents Susan with her own copy of Stephanie’s new mystery novel.

Marlena tells Julie that people are loving what she’s done with Book Club and predicts she will be wildly busy. Julie informs her that Foster has decided to stay in Salem and work part time for her, which gives her a chance to focus on all the new programs she’s planning which Marlena asks about. Julie says there will be a grief discussion group and asks if Marlena would be interested in joining. Marlena agrees to think about it. Marlena says she’s sorry to rush but she has to check on Rachel. Julie mentions that she did set aside a copy of the book they are going to read if she decides to join the grief group.

Chad runs in to Cat in the town square. Cat shows him Felicity’s pumpkin and mentions that Felicity is on a haunted hayride with her boyfriend so his mother will bring her back later, so she’s bringing her pumpkin home.

Jeremy finishes the pumpkin launch with the catapult and says that all pumpkins have been annihilated. Jeremy tries to make a joke but gets no reaction from the kids. Jeremy says he’ll have to go clean it all up now and reminds the kids to fill out their work form to get extra credit for class as he walks away. Rachel then points out to Thomas that Chad is with Cat in the town square and says she told him that adults always lie. Rachel declares that Chad is still with Cat Green.

Chad tells Cat that he won’t keep her. Cat stops him to ask how it’s going with Thomas. Chad thinks things are getting better, at least he hopes they are.

Thomas tells Rachel that he can’t believe Chad lied to him again. Rachel urges that he can’t let Chad get away with it. Thomas asks how he’s supposed to do that. Rachel looks at the catapult and says he could teach him a lesson. Rachel reminds Thomas that she said she’d find a way to make tonight fun. Rachel picks up a pumpkin and suggests they aim it at Cat, remarking that she’ll never know what hit her.

Johnny brings Tesoro in to Book Club and tells Chanel that Leo asked him to keep an eye on him. Leo comes back over. Johnny says he was coming to find him since Tesoro was getting a little fussy. Leo notes that he seems chill now and thanks Johnny. Leo adds that no matter what happens, he knows Johnny and Chanel will make wonderful parents someday. Chanel thanks him as Leo walks away with Tesoro. Chanel then gets a call from Paulina, who says child services have made a decision about Tesoro. Leo then gets a text from Rafe that an adoptive family has been found for Tesoro.

Chad tells Cat that Felicity forgot to put her initials on her pumpkin so Cat guesses she will have to do that for her. Cat then discovers that the carving knife is missing from the table which she says is weird since it was right there. Nearby, white sleeves like the ones in Jeremy’s scientist outfit are seen putting the knife in to their pocket.

Thomas tells Rachel that they can’t do that or they’d get in trouble. Rachel argues that they can just say it was an accident. Rachel says that Chad will probably feel so guilty about lying to Thomas that he’ll believe anything he says. Rachel reminds Thomas that Cat pretended to be his dead mom and someone needs to make her pay for what she did. Thomas reluctantly agrees, so they put the pumpkin in the catapult.

Stephanie walks to the Brady Pub, wondering where Alex ran off to, but she runs in to Susan, who says she’s been looking all over for her. Susan says they need to talk about her autobiographical book before it’s too late. Stephanie says that One Stormy Night had some autobiographical elements, but Susan clarifies that she’s talking about her new book Write Out, the murder mystery. Susan comments that the universe is about to hit on her imagination. Susan declares that what Stephanie has written in her second novel is about to come true…

Chad and Cat can’t find the carving knife anywhere. Alex then walks in to the town square, looking at his phone when suddenly the knife is raised behind him.

Update written by Joseph

Alex comes home and tells Stephanie that everything is ready for the big reveal and in just a few hours, the whole world will know that Stephanie Johnson and Anastasia Sands are one in the same. Alex asks if something’s wrong. Stephanie responds that she’s not sure.

Jeremy and Jada go on a date to the Brady Pub. Jeremy says he’s glad they are doing this. Jada says it’s been forever since she’s been on an actual date. Jeremy is surprised considering how beautiful and charming she is. Jada thanks him and says a lot of guys can’t handle being with a cop. Jeremy responds that he’s glad he’s not one of them.

Amy Choi goes to the DiMera Mansion where EJ thanks her for coming on such short notice. Amy says she came to give him a piece of her mind.

Chanel is at home in her room, looking over the crib that she and Johnny had gotten. Johnny comes in and questions Chanel not getting her Halloween costume ready. Chanel says she’s not really feeling Halloween. Johnny asks if she doesn’t want to go to the bookstore. Chanel says only because she has to and she will take care of the bakery’s catering for Julie. Johnny says he knows she’s worried about the adoption. Chanel responds that she thinks they should take down the crib.

Aaron and Cat get dressed for Halloween when Aaron gets a text that the DNA test results are in. Aaron gives his phone to Cat to look at for him. Cat opens it and confirms that it’s a match. Aaron sits down in shock as he declares that he is the father of Sophia’s baby.

Amy tells EJ that Sophia is in Bayview, staring at a wall and refusing to talk to anyone instead of living out her dreams. EJ says he’s very sorry. Amy asks if he is sorry in general or personally sorry for everything he did to create this nightmare. Amy declares that Sophia’s future is ruined because of EJ and Johnny.

Johnny thinks they should wait awhile before taking down the crib. Chanel asks what the point is. Johnny encourages not losing hope since social services are still reassessing their case. Chanel questions why they haven’t heard from them. Johnny is sure they will soon as he declares that he’s not giving up hope, so he won’t let her lose hope either.

Cat asks Aaron if he’s okay. Aaron says he shouldn’t be surprised because when he found out Tate wasn’t the father, he knew it had to be him. Aaron wishes he could talk Sophia through this but that’s not even possible. Aaron cries that he doesn’t know what to do or what’s supposed to happen. Cat tells him that the baby is in foster care, waiting to be adopted, but as the biological father, he has rights which Aaron questions. Cat says the first step would be putting in a phone call to child services. Aaron asks Cat to stay with him. Cat assures that she’ll be right here with him, every step of the way.

Stephanie informs Alex that Jada is on a date with Jeremy Horton. Alex questions how they even know each other. Stephanie reveals they met on a dating app. Stephanie explains that she came home to change in to her costume and found Jeremy in the hall. Stephanie says she had a work call and when she came back, they were already gone. Stephanie feels she should text Jada to see if she’s okay, but Alex encourages that Jada’s the police commissioner so she will see right through Jeremy.

Jeremy is surprised to learn that Jada is an anime fan which they bond over. Jada mentions Jeremy meeting her roommate Stephanie. Jeremy reveals that he actually already knew Stephanie.

Aaron finishes his call to social services and talks about learning his rights and responsibilities as a father when he’s not even old enough to buy beer. Aaron says he’s obviously going to give up his rights, but it’s one thing to blow off homework or skip class while this was him being irresponsible one night with Sophia and it ended up making a life. Aaron declares that he’s now the father of a baby who he has to give up because he made a mistake. Aaron bets Cat is really disappointed in him. Cat assures that she’s not judging him and realizes the gravity of the situation and how upsetting it is for him as it’s a lot to take in. Cat says the important thing is that the baby is loved and cared for by parents who are ready to raise him. Cat encourages that Aaron is not a bad person but a good human. Cat adds that she’s always here for him in all ways.

EJ tells Amy that he deeply regrets that the adoption of her grandson fell through and he takes full responsibility for his part in it. Amy supposes that’s something. EJ says he wanted to learn more about what happened, so he called the attorney Patsy McGowan, who helped Sophia fabricate the story about the adoption in Chicago. Amy hopes the district attorney throws the book at Patsy and that she gets disbarred. EJ argues that what Patsy did wasn’t all bad. Amy argues that Patsy aided Sophia’s enormous lie. EJ says that’s one way to look at it, but she was there for Sophia when she couldn’t turn to her own mother.

Chanel tells Johnny that she wants to have hope but feels the crib is false hope and she needs to prevent having her heartbroken all over again. Johnny knows the odds may be against them but says he’s going to keep praying for a miracle. Chanel asks what if they don’t get one. Johnny says they will find another way to have a family. Johnny calls it their dream and promises they will be parents.

Alex tells Stephanie that it really sucks that Jada had to match with Jeremy out of all the guys on the dating app. Stephanie wonders if it wasn’t a coincidence since Jeremy knew she used to live across the hall, so he must have known she and Jada used to be roommates and went on a date with Jada to get to her.

Jada questions Jeremy knowing Stephanie and why he didn’t say so when he picked her up. Jeremy says he was going to but then Stephanie had the work call. Jada asks if they grew up together. Jeremy says he was primarily raised by his mom, so Jada asks how they met. Jeremy says it was in their early 20s and admits that Stephanie is not his biggest fan. Jada then realizes that Jeremy is the old boyfriend that Stephanie was worried would come back in to town.

Aaron is the Halloween tour guide outside of the Pub as Leo walks up and joins the group. Leo talks to Aaron and tells him about being a reporter. Leo and Aaron introduce themselves to each other, leading Leo to realize that he may be Tesoro’s biological father. Aaron reveals he just got the DNA test and confirms he is the father. Leo asks if Aaron has decided what he’s going to do. Leo’s old roommate from the jury trial Adam then arrives to join the Halloween tour, leaving Leo in disbelief.

Amy questions EJ judging her. EJ says he’s not judging her, but empathizing with her because he knows what it feels like to think you’ve done everything you can for your child, but still fail when they need you the most. EJ states that they are in similar positions as two parents estranged from the children they love. EJ suggests rather than be at odds, perhaps they could help one another. Amy asks what exactly EJ expects her to help him with.

Chanel wishes she had Johnny’s faith. Johnny says he has enough faith for both of them. Chanel shows Johnny a Halloween baby costume she picked up the other day as she thought it would be perfect for their son’s first Halloween. Chanel tells Johnny that she wants this so badly. Johnny hugs her as she cries.

EJ understands Amy registered an objection with child services to prevent Johnny and Chanel from adopting Sophia’s baby. Amy confirms that she has. EJ says she must have a lot of animosity towards his family but asks if she can table it so they can do what’s best for their children. Amy argues that she is doing what’s best for Sophia and this is what she wanted as her recent actions show she does not want Johnny and Chanel adopting her son. EJ asks if Amy thinks Sophia was of sound mind when she made that decision. EJ reminds her that not too long ago, Sophia did want Johnny and Chanel to adopt her baby and Amy gave her blessing because she knew they were good people. Amy argues that was before Johnny backed out and sent Sophia into a tailspin. EJ thinks she’s looking at it the wrong way. Amy points out the pain that Johnny’s actions caused Sophia. EJ says he’s just encouraging her to examine why Johnny did it. Amy argues that he obviously did it for himself. EJ responds that he did it for the baby because even then, he was putting her grandson first. EJ argues that Johnny wasn’t being selfish, he was just having a dark time because of what he learned about him. EJ blames himself for Johnny questioning himself and says he just needed time to work through his fears and doubts to make sure he was ready and now he is. Amy says that he can pursue a different child then. EJ argues that Sophia’s problem isn’t really with Johnny, it’s with him. EJ asks Amy not to punish Johnny for his sins. EJ declares that he did this, he ruined everything, and he hates the pain and fear he caused them. EJ says knowing that he’s the reason why Johnny no longer has the chance to start a family of his own leaves him no greater regret. EJ tells Amy that if she withdraws her objection to Johnny and Chanel adopting her grandson, he will stay away. EJ reminds Amy that was one of her original stipulations. EJ gives her his word that the child will never know him and will have no influence or contact with him. EJ declares that it’s too late for him and his son, but not for her and her daughter. EJ tells Amy that Sophia needs her now by her side, making sure she gets better so she can go off and fulfill her dreams. EJ pleads with Amy to devote her time and energy to Sophia, not to keeping her baby out of a home where he could not be more wanted or loved. Amy responds that she’s not making any promises as she then exits the mansion. EJ looks up to the portrait of Stefano as he takes a seat.

Jada asks Jeremy what went down between he and Stephanie. Jeremy says he was really screwed up when he was younger, but Stephanie knows that he worked really hard to turn things around, so he went to therapy, found his faith and became a school teacher. Jada questions why Stephanie was so worried about him coming to town if she knew he made all these positive changes. Jeremy guesses it’s because of their history. Jada realizes that’s why Stephanie was acting weird when she saw them together. Jeremy says he thought they’d be a good match but if it’s too much for her and she wants to call it a night, he understands. Jada calls it Deja vu and decides it’s time for her to tell him about her and Stephanie.

Stephanie tells Alex that it’s not enough that Jeremy outed her as a romance writer and now he’s targeting her best friend. Stephanie feels she should’ve warned her before they left. Alex brings up that Stephanie mentioned Jeremy being abusive and asks if she’s worried about him hurting Jada. Stephanie repeats that he never hit her. Alex says something obviously rattled her and encourages that she can tell him anything. Stephanie admits she’s ashamed. Alex tells her that she did nothing wrong. Stephanie then informs Alex that Jeremy used to get angry a lot and one time, he got so angry with her that he held her head underwater in a hot tub.

Adam makes sure he didn’t mess anything and says he’s been dying to make this tour. Adam then spots Leo and asks if he’s excited for the tour. Adam says he loves Leo’s sense of humor and tells Aaron that they had tons of fun. Aaron calls for everyone to get started. Adam declares that he can’t wait to find out about all the murder and mayhem that happened in Salem.

Alex questions Stephanie about Jeremy trying to drown her. Stephanie clarifies that it was a silly drinking game gone wrong and he only held her head underwater for a second but it still scared her. Alex calls it a horrible thing to do and asks if she told anybody. Stephanie says just a few close friends and says she was so young and didn’t have much experience with guys. Stephanie states that being with Jeremy was confusing. Alex asks how so. Stephanie explains that Jeremy’s mood would change on a dime where one second he’d be furious over some stupid little thing and the next, he’d be incredibly sweet. Alex remarks that he sounds like a real Jekyll and Hyde to him.

Jada explains to Jeremy that Stephanie unknowingly dated her ex-husband. Jada tells Jeremy that he seems like a really great guy but this is hitting too close to that whole Bobby situation, so dating someone who used to be with her best friend doesn’t seem like a great idea. Jada states that her friendship with Stephanie is very important to her, so she thinks they should end it here. Jeremy says he understands. Jada decides she should go and tells him to have a good night as she then exits the Pub. Jada walks out and through Aaron’s Halloween tour. Adam complains that the tour is supposed to be about ghosts while Aaron is just talking sci-fi. Adam says he wants to hear about Salem’s long history of serial killers and Marlena being possessed by the Devil. Leo tells him that he’s personal friends with Marlena, which excites Adam. Leo tells Adam to just let Aaron proceed. Adam complains about the tour being boring and declares that if Aaron is not going to show them Salem’s sadistic and sinister underbelly, then he will do it himself. Adam calls for everyone to follow him, so they walk off.

Cat runs in to EJ in the town square. They talk about Cat’s costume as a cat. Cat asks where EJ’s costume is. EJ jokes that he came as the scariest monster in Salem, himself.

Adam brings the Halloween tour to the spot where Marlena tossed Stefano outside of the DiMera Mansion. Aaron argues that this is private property and he doesn’t want to get accused of trespassing. Leo agrees, saying he doesn’t want to end up locked in a secret room or under a guillotine. Adam argues that the mansion is so big that the DiMeras won’t even know they are here and insists they continue, while Aaron gets startled by a noise.

Chanel and Johnny lay in bed together after having sex which Chanel says was just the distraction she needed as they say they love each other.

Adam says the noise had to be Stefano speaking to them from beyond the grave. Leo points out that they never found Stefano’s body, so Adam asks what if the Phoenix rose again or if he’s looking for a body to possess. Aaron declares that’s enough and they are done but Adam insists on checking it out.

Cat tells EJ about Aaron going through something right now, so she wants to be there for him. EJ asks if it’s anything he can help with. Cat says he’s done more than enough for her family and thanks him. Cat then guesses EJ is going to hear about it at some point, so she reveals that Aaron just found out he is the biological father of Sophia’s baby.

Jada goes to Alex and Stephanie’s apartment. Stephanie is relieved that Jada is back and apologizes for not saying something about Jeremy being her ex. Jada can’t believe the app matched her with him and calls it a crazy coincidence. Alex responds that they don’t think it’s a coincidence. Stephanie says that Jeremy may have specifically been looking for her. Jada doesn’t understand. Stephanie explains that when Jeremy got back to town, he came by to make peace with her and apologized for how he treated her in the past. Stephanie says he promised to stay out of her life which Alex says was total bull because he then outed her as Anastasia Sands which Jada questions. Stephanie points out that Jeremy denies it but they are almost certain that he told Leo. Alex says that Jeremy is clearly harboring resentment towards Stephanie and actively trying to mess with her, first with the book and now Jada. Jada argues that on the date, Jeremy seemed so normal, easygoing, and funny. Jada mentions that Jeremy admitted to being screwed up when he was younger but that he did a lot of work to get better. Alex asks if this was her first time meeting in person. Jada says they matched online, had a couple video chats and had a connection so they decided to meet for coffee. Alex questions Jeremy telling her that he and Stephanie dated, but acting like he had no idea that Stephanie and Jada knew each other. Jada questions if they think he knew that going in. Stephanie finds it very strange that of all the women on the dating app, he happened to match with her best friend. Jada assures that she ended it as soon as she learned that they had history. Jada asks if Stephanie wants to fill her in and tell her what happened between her and Jeremy.

Jeremy walks through the town square and slams down a pumpkin in frustration over Jada ending their date.

Aaron questions where Adam went and worries about losing someone on his tour and getting fired. Leo says they will tell his boss that Adam went off on his own in search of Stefano’s spirit. Aaron worries that if something is actually happening. Adam then pops back up and scares them. Adam says he has nothing to report but the sound they heard was definitely real, so he guesses something undead is watching them as they speak. Leo suggests they get the hell out of here then as they hurry out.

Johnny tells Chanel that he’s going to shower and invites her to join him. Chanel says she’ll be right there. Johnny adds that he’ll take down the crib when he gets home later. Chanel then gets a text from Lani in their family group chat with a photo of the twins in their Halloween costumes. Johnny encourages Chanel that they will have a family. Chanel then agrees to leaving the crib up for a little while longer.

EJ asks Cat if she could do him a favor since he just had a meaningful conversation with Amy and hopes he convinced her to allow Johnny and Chanel to adopt her grandson. EJ asks Cat to convince Aaron to do the same by signing over his parental rights.

Jada tells Stephanie that she’s so sorry she went through that and she had no idea. Alex says he didn’t either until tonight. Stephanie says that what Jeremy did was horrible but it was a long time ago. Alex argues that now he’s back and messing with her again. Stephanie says that’s what she thinks, but she can’t prove it. Alex declares that he can still beat the crap out of him and goes to leave but Stephanie stops him. Stephanie says that until they have Jeremy dead to rights, all they can do is be wary and hope that he has changed. Jada declares that from now on, she’s going to be watching every move Jeremy makes. Alex says that he will as well.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Paulina joins Jada in her office at the police station. Jada comments on it being a relatively quiet Halloween so far. Paulina feels that’s going to change when it gets dark. Jada says she has beefed up police presence around the town square. Paulina feels they will need that, bringing up that they have the book store grand opening, the pumpkin carving contest, and people still being on edge from the blackout.

Julie brings Jeremy to the book store grand opening. Jeremy praises the store and they talk about his time as a teacher so far. Stephanie then arrives and sees Jeremy.

Steve and Kayla are with Abe at the Brady Pub. They talk about being glad to do this and wanting to do it more often. Roman comes over and checks on their food which they praise. Roman congratulates Abe on Theo’s new CEO job but Abe is not sure congratulations are in order.

JJ meets Theo in the town square to let him know that he thought things through and made a decision about returning to the police force.

Roman guesses Abe is not thrilled about Theo working so closely with the DiMeras. Abe asks if they would feel different if it was their children. Steve thinks it’s different for Theo since the DiMeras are his family. Kayla agrees that Theo is up to making things better at DiMera Enterprises. Abe comments on that sounding like Paulina.

Jada encourages Paulina that things will go smoothly. Paulina knew she would have things under control. Jada mentions being off tonight but says she will be in the town square as a private citizen with a friend which Paulina questions. Jada reveals that she actually has a date that she hasn’t met in person yet.

Julie welcomes Stephanie and tells Jeremy that they are presenting Anastasia Sands new novel. Julie remarks that they have a big reveal that will be quite the surprise. Stephanie comments that it will be a surprise to some more than others.

Theo asks what JJ decided, but Abe approaches and greets them so Theo tells JJ they will talk about this later. JJ tells Abe that it’s good to see him and walks away. Abe asks Theo what that was all about. Theo explains that he and JJ have just been having a disagreement about JJ returning to the force as he thought JJ shouldn’t have. Abe points out that it’s JJ’s decision to make. Theo questions Abe now being for people making their own decisions and asks about his decision to work for DiMera. Abe says that’s very different since he’s his son. Theo responds that JJ may not be family but he wanted him to weigh in after an incident during the blackout which Abe questions. Theo explains that JJ stopped him when he was on his way to city hall to retrieve Paulina’s phone as he saw him from a distance and thought he was there to loot or something until he saw it was him. Abe questions why he didn’t tell him about this before. Theo says he knows how upset Abe was when he did get shot, so he didn’t want him to relive that as he wouldn’t wish that pain upon him.

Paulina asks Jada who the lucky man is that she’s yet to meet in person. JJ then arrives, interrupting them. Jada asks what she can help him with. JJ informs her that he has carefully considered his options and decided that he’s ready to come back to the force.

Kayla talks about Julie being busy at the book store and the launch of Anastasia Sands’ new novel. Roman comments on Anastasia’s new book being quite different than the last one, mentioning that Kate showed him parts of the first novel while editing and it was pretty juicy.

Jeremy tells Julie about the pumpkin chucking contest for his students where they learn about physics. Jeremy says he hopes everything goes well tonight for Julie and Stephanie as he then exits the book store. Julie comments to Stephanie on the tension and asks if there’s something going on between her and Jeremy that she should know about.

Jada tells JJ that she’s so glad he decided to stay as he’s a valuable part of the force. Paulina agrees and says she’s interested in keeping the police department fully staffed. Paulina admits she is concerned about how Theo will feel about this. JJ says he is too and he was about to tell Theo of his decision but Abe showed up and he doesn’t think Theo wanted to talk about it in front of his dad. JJ promises to tell Theo soon as he takes his feelings very seriously. JJ adds that he plans to continue with his therapy and training which Paulina and Jada call a good idea. Jada tells JJ that he can go on home for the night and report for duty in the morning.

Theo tells Abe that he told JJ that as long as he could promise not to make the same mistake with anyone else, then it was ultimately his call. Abe comments that Theo is handling it well. Theo knows Abe wishes he told him before, but argues that he hasn’t been easy to talk to lately because of him working at DiMera. Theo says they don’t have to talk about it all again as they know how each other feels about it. Theo adds that he knew how upset Abe would be about him and JJ as he wishes he hadn’t told him about it. Abe is glad he did so he didn’t keep it bottled up inside. Theo informs him that he didn’t keep it inside as he did talk to Jada and Paulina about it. Abe says he has to get to his tutoring appointment at the book store and walks away. Jeremy drags his pumpkin launcher in to the town square as JJ walks by and talks with him about it. JJ offers to help but Jeremy says he’s got it under control and could use the distraction. JJ asks if everything is okay. Jeremy responds that something from his past keeps coming back to bite him that he wishes he could undo. JJ relates to feeling the same.

Roman talks to Kayla and Steve about One Stormy Night being intense and racy. Roman then goes back to work as Kayla and Steve talk about Stephanie being outed to the world soon as Anastasia Sands. Kayla knows it might get awkward but she’s proud of Stephanie being a best selling author with people raving about how well her story is written. Kayla encourages telling Stephanie how proud they are because she will need their support. Steve agrees, especially if Jeremy keeps giving her trouble. Steve brings up Stephanie being pretty sure that Jeremy outed her to Leo which is why she is revealing her identity today. Kayla says even if Jeremy didn’t out her, she won’t feel Stephanie is safe until Jeremy is out of town for good.

Stephanie tells Julie that it’s not a big deal as she and Jeremy didn’t end things on the best terms when they dated years ago, so she’d prefer to steer clear of him. Abe arrives and greets them. Stephanie calls it a treat since she feels like she hardly sees Abe as they don’t work together anymore. They talk about missing Body and Soul. Abe hopes he’s not late for work but Julie informs him that his student has not yet shown up.

Kayla knows Steve doesn’t sit idly by when someone he loves is in danger, so she questions what he did. Steve says nothing major but he had Rafe run a background check on Jeremy. Steve admits he seems clean as far as financial, credit, education, and records. Steve says there was nothing since Jeremy cleared up his legal trouble all those years ago. Kayla asks if Steve knows what happened between Stephanie and Jeremy back then. Steve said she never opened up about the details. Kayla says whatever it is must have been serious because whenever Jeremy is around, Stephanie is very uncomfortable.

Jeremy tells JJ that he feels like if he could find the right words and deliver them the right way, everyone could move on but every time he tries, it makes things worse. JJ is in the same boat but he’s starting to realize that words don’t really fix the problem as only actions can. Jeremy agrees that they actually have to show people the change.

Paulina finds Theo outside the Pub and says it looks like he’s getting a very serious message and questions if the troubled look on his face is about her. Theo reveals it actually is as he was just about to text her because he spoke with Abe and he was pretty upset that Paulina knew about his disagreement with JJ before he did. Theo hopes Abe isn’t upset with her. Paulina felt that it wasn’t her place to bring it up and that Theo would tell him if he wanted to. Theo repeats that he just doesn’t want Abe to get upset with her over it after how he reacted to feeling like Paulina encouraged him to take the CEO job. Paulina doesn’t recall actually encouraging him and just felt he should make his own decision. Paulina tells Theo not to worry as she and Abe can withstand a few disagreements.

Abe tells Julie that it doesn’t look like his new student is going to show up after all but Julie says they spoke too soon as Liam then arrives. Abe tells Liam it’s nice to meet him as they shake hands. Julie introduces herself and tells Liam that she’s very glad he could make it as she’s a big believer in the literacy program. Julie says to give her a call if they need anything as she walks away. Abe tells Liam that first they need to set a few ground rules which he questions. Abe says if they agree on a time to meet, he expects them both to be there at that time. Liam agrees to whatever he says. Abe tells Liam that his goal is to see him succeed at this program, so it’s important to him that he wants that too. Abe asks if Liam can commit to making an effort. Liam says he guesses so. Abe guesses that’s as good as it’s going to get and tells him to take a seat so they can get to work.

Kayla and Steve join Stephanie in the town square where she is setting up for her book launch. Stephanie thanks them for coming. Steve jokes that they wouldn’t miss the launch of their very own secret romance author. Stephanie says it won’t be secret for long and asks if it won’t be too weird for them. Kayla assures that they want to be there for her in case things get crazy after the announcement. Steve asks what her new book is about. Stephanie reveals it’s about a novelist who disappears on Halloween, comparing it to Agatha Christie. Steve says that sounds great as he’s always been a sucker for a good mystery. Kayla remarks that she’s just glad it’s totally fiction this time. They then see Jeremy talking to JJ in the distance.

Abe works with Liam on reading. Liam stops and says he’s not feeling the book at all, so he asks if they can get a coffee and chill. Abe says they are not here for that, but to improve his reading. Liam argues that he can read just fine but he doesn’t vibe with the book. Abe argues that it’s a condition of his probation. Liam points out that he’s here. Abe says he can’t sign off on their session unless he tries to learn something. Liam complains that if Abe is going to give him a hard time, he’ll just bounce and find a new tutor.

Paulina asks Theo how everything is at DiMera. Theo says it’s fine so far and that Tony had been showing him the ropes, until he disappeared which Paulina questions.

Julie joins Steve and Kayla in the town square and asks if they are ready for their daughter’s big event. Kayla confirms they are. Julie asks where Stephanie is. Steve says she just went home to change but she’ll be back. Julie guesses she’ll wear something to wow her fans. Julie can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction when they discover that Anastasia Sands has been in Salem this entire time. Julie admits she’s really getting excited about the big reveal but guesses they aren’t. Kayla reveals it’s actually Stephanie that’s not excited. Steve explains that this isn’t something Stephanie wanted or planned to do and that she wouldn’t be revealing her identity if it wasn’t for Jeremy. Julie asks what Jeremy has to do with it. Kayla explains that Stephanie thinks Jeremy outed her to Leo. Julie understands then why Stephanie wasn’t too happy to see him but questions what reason Jeremy would have to do that.

Stephanie goes home and runs in to Jeremy in the hallway. Stephanie is shocked and questions what the hell he’s doing there.

Theo explains to Paulina that Tony went on a cruise with Anna and went to a business meeting, but never came back to the boat. Theo adds that Tony got left behind while Anna was taking a nap and didn’t realize his absence until it was too late. Theo says they were worried that something happened to Tony but he just didn’t have reception at the meeting and now all is well. Paulina is glad but says she’s sorry that Tony left him hanging at DiMera. Theo says it’s okay as everyone has been reporting to him now and with Rita as his right hand woman, everything has been proceeding as he and Tony planned. Theo adds that he’s mostly been focused on untangling Titan from DiMera. Paulina says that sounds like quite the challenge but she’s sure no one could handle it like him. Theo thanks her for encouraging him to take the job. Theo says he knows she just wanted him to make his own decision, but he took it as encouragement and he plans to prove Abe and everyone else wrong. Paulina admits she knew it would be the right call.

Abe warns Liam that if he walks out the door, he will be forced to call the district attorney to tell her this plea deal is not working out for him. Liam questions if he’d seriously do that. Abe says if Liam doesn’t have time for this, then he doesn’t either. Liam then sits back down and resumes reading the book. Julie comes back in and gives Abe a thumbs up.

Stephanie reminds Jeremy that she told him to stay away from her. Jada then comes home and meets Jeremy, revealing to Stephanie that she and Jeremy connected on a dating app and she was meaning to tell her. Stephanie tells Jada that she wishes she had. Jada says they’ve both been pretty busy. Stephanie gets a call and heads in to her apartment to answer it. Jada tells Jeremy that she’s ready when he is. Jeremy comments that Jada is even more beautiful than her picture as they walk away together. Stephanie then comes back out from her apartment still in shock, but sees that Jada and Jeremy have already left.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Xander goes to see Marlena, who asks where Sarah is. Xander informs her that she’s not coming.

Brady brings Sarah to a vacant room. Sarah says this is not where she thought he was taking her as she thought they were going to lunch. Brady says they will after she works up an appetite and hopes she will find some relief here.

JJ enters the Brady Pub and sees Theo seated at a table. JJ approaches and asks if Theo has a minute.

Jennifer goes to the Spectator where Chad asks what brings her by. Jennifer says she thinks he knows.

Cat questions EJ saying that Tony is missing. EJ explains that Anna and Tony are on a cruise in Monte Carlo but Tony couldn’t stay away from work, so he scheduled a meeting in Athens but never made it back. Cat asks what he thinks happened. EJ says has no idea but Anna thinks Tony may have been a victim of foul play.

Theo tells JJ that he has a few minutes and asks what’s on his mind. JJ sits down and says he thought a lot about what happened in the town square. JJ informs Theo that he went to Jada and offered his resignation but she talked him out of quitting, though she did encourage him to take a leave of absence while he works out things with the department psychiatrist, so that’s where he’s at right now. Theo isn’t sure why JJ is telling him this. JJ says that even though he’s going to continue his therapy, he won’t be able to work this out unless he talks it over with him.

Chad asks Jennifer if this is about the kids. Jennifer clarifies that she came to file her story about Tom since she knows he wanted the copy editor to look at it first. Chad says she could’ve just e-mailed. Jennifer admits she also came by because she feels like she owes him an apology for being really harsh with him lately and saying a lot of hurtful things which was really unfair. Jennifer tells Chad how grateful that she is that he’s doing the right thing and putting his relationship with Cat behind him.

EJ tells Cat that Tony is an experienced world traveler while Anna is known to panic. Cat thinks Anna may have good reason to panic. EJ encourages that Tony could’ve just lost track of time, so for now he will refrain from drawing attention. Cat asks what if it’s not and asks if EJ wouldn’t rather be safe than sorry because if Tony is actually in trouble, every second counts.

Brady tells Sarah that this is a rage room to get out all anger and frustration. Brady gives an example of taking a bat and smashing everything in the room. Sarah appreciates what he’s trying to do, but says she’s upset because her soon to be ex-husband is a cruel son of a bitch, so she doesn’t think going off on inanimate objects will be therapeutic for her. Brady encourages that people get angry and she has every right to be angry at Xander. Brady says here, she can get her anger out in a safe, controlled environment which he thinks is exactly what she needs.

Marlena guesses something has happened since their last session. Xander confirms quite a bit has happened and informs her that Sarah has filed for divorce and sole custody of Victoria without visitation. Xander admits he has no one to blame but himself.

Theo tells JJ that it’s not his responsibility to assuage his guilt. JJ says he’s misunderstanding what he’s saying. JJ tells Theo that his friendship is very important to him and swears that if he knew going back to the police force would be so upsetting to him, he never would have. JJ adds that he only did because Salem was short on cops and they wanted him back. JJ feels it could be a chance for him to make things right for how he handled things before. JJ hopes that he can make a difference, not just in the community but on the force. JJ tells Theo that he wants to stay on the job. Theo questions if he’s seriously asking for his permission to stay with the Salem PD. JJ guesses that he is and tells Theo to say the word if he doesn’t want him to stay on the job.

EJ agrees with Cat that if something awful has happened to Tony, every second counts so there is something she can do. EJ says his family will need to be made aware and he will need to speak to Theo about if this needs to go public. EJ says he will likely have his hands full, so he asks Cat to track down Chad to let him know what’s going on.

Chad assures Jennifer that he will always put his family first. Chad says everything that happened between he and Cat took him by surprise, since in the beginning he was just as angry with her as the rest of them, so he never expected to have feelings for her. Jennifer thinks Chad’s feelings came from the love he had for Abigail and that belongs to her, not Cat. Chad apologizes for hurting Jennifer, Jack, and Thomas. Jennifer talks about Thomas having a really hard time through all of this. Jennifer knows they have been going around the issue of Thomas wanting to live with her and Jack in Boston, so she really thinks they need to clear the air on this.

Sarah comments on Brady knowing what he’s talking about and asks if he’s been to a rage room before. Brady says he has many times including very recently when he found out that Kristen had Rachel testify against Johnny when she was the one who shot EJ. Brady explains that taking your anger out here is better than trying to find comfort in a bottle. Brady tells Sarah there’s only one way to find out if it works for her and asks if she wants to let out everything Xander has put her through. Sarah agrees to do it.

Xander explains to Marlena that he had a wonderful day with Victoria at the pumpkin patch and then when he went downstairs, Maggie went off on him and warning him that there better not be any more surprises that could break Sarah’s heart. Marlena assumes she was onto something. Xander says it’s like Maggie had x-ray vision in to your soul and she just kept pushing, then Sarah came home and Maggie told him to look Sarah in the eye and tell her the truth about Philip. Marlena asks what Xander’s answer was. Xander responds that he couldn’t lie to Sarah anymore so he admitted that it was he who attacked Philip.

Cat questions EJ wanting her to tell Chad that Tony is missing. EJ knows it’s a big ask because of how things ended between her and Chad and he doesn’t mean to be insensitive, but things like this travel quickly, so he thinks it would be better for Chad to hear it from a friendly face. Cat agrees to whatever EJ needs and exits the office.

Theo doesn’t think it’s fair for JJ to put this decision on him. JJ clarifies that’s not what he’s doing and that he’s just asking him to help him with it. JJ says he never would’ve involved him in the first place if he hadn’t flipped out when he found out he was back on the force. Theo questions JJ thinking he flipped out. JJ says he didn’t mean it like that. Theo argues that the time to talk about this was before he became a cop again in the first place. Theo remarks that he doesn’t need Paulina or Jada blaming him for the police department being short, so he can’t be the one to make that decision for him and he has to make his own choice about it. Theo gets a text and says he has to go, then quickly exits the Pub.

Marlena brings up when the topic of Philip’s attack came up in previous sessions. Xander admits he lied, evaded her questions, and was doing everything he can to put that in the past or else he’d have to see himself as a thug and a homicidal maniac. Xander says he repaid Sarah for having faith in him by letting her apologize over and over again when he knew she had nothing to atone for and he just stood there without saying a word. Xander declares that on top of everything else, he’s a hypocrite. Marlena asks how Sarah reacted to the truth. Xander responds that she made it clear that she hates him and wants nothing to do with him ever again. Xander adds that Sarah couldn’t possibly hate him as much as he hates himself.

Sarah puts on goggles and begins utilizing the rage room by smashing glasses and using a bat on a punching bag and a pile of tires, while yelling about Xander. Sarah finishes and sits down to catch her breath.

Jennifer tells Chad that she would love to spend every day with her grandchildren but she never suggested they come live with them in Boston. Chad says he knows. Chad hates that Thomas found out about he and Cat the way he did and he’s been trying to get through to him but Thomas won’t let him in. Chad feels Thomas won’t as long as he thinks living with Jack and Jennifer is a viable option. Chad appreciates that Jennifer didn’t plant that seed, but says he will need her to be a little more unambiguous with him to make it clear that won’t be happening. Jennifer understands and agrees to tell him that’s never going to happen. Chad thanks her. Jennifer believes that is what’s best for Thomas and Charlotte. Jennifer adds that she needs something from Chad. She asks for him to promise that he will keep Cat out of their lives. Chad promises that his relationship with Cat is over forever right as Cat arrives at the door.

Theo goes to EJ’s office. EJ tells Theo about Anna not hearing from Tony. Theo says he last spoke to Tony last night about his meeting with Xander and they were supposed to talk about last steps before DiMera is officially separated from Titan, but guesses that will have to wait. EJ tells Theo that he’s happy to step in if he needs any help with DiMera.

Cat tells Chad that EJ sent her to tell him that Tony is missing, explaining that Anna called EJ and said Tony never returned from a meeting and now the Greek authorities are involved. Cat apologizes as she knows this is upsetting news to hear and then exits back out. Chad tells Jennifer that he’s sorry but he has to call EJ and figure out what’s going on. Chad assures that he had no idea Cat was going to show up. Jennifer calls it a reality check for her that they both live in Salem, so there’s no way they will totally avoid each other all the time.

Brady returns to the rage room and asks Sarah how it was. Sarah admits it was exhilarating and eye opening because what she did here is what Xander wanted to do to Brady and what he did do to Philip. Sarah says she’s feeling so guilty about beating the hell out of inanimate objects while she doubts Xander even thought twice about doing it to an actual person with no remorse or regret. Sarah declares that she married a monster and part of her knows that she can never let him be around Victoria again. Sarah knows Xander would never hurt her physically, but the pain he has caused her is just as real as any broken bone and she never wants Victoria to feel that. Brady says he understands. Sarah admits that another part of her feels like she’s a monster too for wanting Xander out of his daughter’s life forever.

Marlena asks Xander what he plans to do now that the secret is out. Xander says his first instinct is to fight for Sarah but he doesn’t see how or with Maggie, who tried to push Philip to turn him in. Marlena asks if he thinks Philip would do that. Xander informs her that he flat out refused and even blocked Maggie’s attempt to push him out of Titan, so he’s oddly been his biggest ally in all of this. Xander says even if Philip covers for him, plenty of other people could testify about all the other horrible things he’s done, so no judge in the world would want him anywhere near his daughter. Xander declares maybe it would be best for Victoria if he just walked away. Marlena questions if he really thinks his daughter would be better off without him in her life. Xander responds that he just keeps hurting the people he loves and he’d rather die than hurt Victoria. Marlena thinks they need to do a lot of work on why he keeps hurting the people he loves. Xander wishes he could answer that. Marlena thinks he’s judging himself too harshly and he doesn’t know what the future holds for him, but he thinks there’s an enormous capacity for growth and healing, especially with something meaningful to live for. Marlena feels they have made so much progress in these sessions, so she hopes he doesn’t give up on it. Xander assures that he wants to get better, but he can’t do it by himself, so he asks if Marlena will keep seeing him even now that she knows everything he’s done.

Brady tells Sarah not to talk about herself like that ever again, calling her one of the most generous people he knows. Sarah brings up that she already filed for divorce and she’s seeking full custody of Victoria with no visitation, questioning how that’s kind and generous. Brady understands she feels that’s right and gets that she wants to protect her little girl. Sarah is surprised Brady is being so empathetic. Sarah points out that Brady didn’t protect his little girl that way and decided it was best for Rachel to have a relationship with her mother. Brady says it’s not the same since Rachel basically grew up with Kristen while Victoria is only two and her memories aren’t fully formed yet. Brady states that if there was ever a time to break it off, now would be the time. Sarah asks if he’s saying she’s making the right decision. Brady responds that if he was under those circumstances, he would do the exact same thing.

Cat walks through the town square, on the phone with Rafe, telling him that she was there when EJ got the call about Tony missing. Cat adds that she let the ISA know and suggests Rafe let the FBI know. Cat then finishes the call and hangs up as Chad approaches. Cat tells Chad that she needs to say she’s sorry.

Theo appreciates EJ’s offer but question how he can talk about the company when his brother is missing. EJ says it may sound callous but if business stopped every time there was a crisis, DiMera Enterprises would’ve shut down long ago. Theo argues that if there is foul play in Tony’s disappearance, they can’t just act like nothing happened. EJ says they are doing no such thing, but when they do act, they will do so quickly and stoic. EJ then gets a call back from Anna. EJ says that’s a relief but questions Anna saying it’s not.

Jennifer goes home to find JJ sitting on the couch alone in thought in the living room. Jennifer asks what he’s doing home. Jennifer asks if he’s okay. JJ responds that he’s not and that there’s something he hasn’t told her. Jennifer asks what it is and assures that she’s there for him. Jennifer questions what has him so upset. JJ informs her that during the blackout, he was in the town square policing the area and he saw some guy in the distance, so he stopped him, but when he realized it was Theo, he felt terrible and apologized but Theo was really upset with him. JJ says it brought back up the shooting for both of them, so he decided to take a leave of absence from the police department and now he is struggling with whether to remain on the force or resign. Jennifer questions why he didn’t say anything. JJ responds that it’s because he is so ashamed. Jennifer encourages that he has no reason to feel ashamed and that taking a leave of absence and talking to a psychiatrist shows that he cares. Jennifer adds that Theo is right that whether JJ decides to rejoin the force or not is a decision he has to make on his own. Jennifer is sorry that he’s been struggling with this because she’s been preoccupied but insists that she’s there for him and she loves him so much as she hugs him.

EJ tells Anna that what’s important is that Tony is alive and well. EJ says to keep him posted as he hangs up. Theo asks what happened. EJ informs him that Anna received a message that Tony’s meeting ran long, so he simply missed the boat back and will rejoin the crew on the next one. Theo says that’s great. EJ complains that instead of being relieved, Anna is outraged and says there will be hell to pay for Tony embarrassing her. EJ jokes that if he was trapped at sea with Anna, he would miss his boat too.

Chad tells Cat that she doesn’t have to apologize. Cat feels she does for going in to his office at the worst possible time as she had no idea Jennifer would be there. Chad calls it a lesson Jennifer had to learn that they are bound to bump in to each other from time to time which she said herself. Chad gets a call from EJ and asks on the latest with Tony. Chad is excited by the news and thanks EJ for letting him know as he hangs up. Chad informs Cat that they found Tony and everything is good and he’s okay. Cat calls that amazing news and tells Chad that she’ll see him around as Chad walks away.

Sarah thanks Brady for bringing her to the rage room. Brady is glad it had the desired effect. Sarah says it’s good to know she has an outlet for all of her anger. Sarah thanks Brady for listening and understanding. Brady says that’s what friends are for as he hugs her.

Marlena tells Xander that she will agree to keep seeing him as long as he agrees to complete transparency during their sessions, which Xander promises. Xander asks Marlena as a psychiatrist and as someone who knows Sarah well, if she thinks there’s any way he can fix things with her. Marlena suggests fixing things with him first and then seeing where things go. Xander agrees to do that because as she said, he does have something meaningful in his life in his daughter, Victoria.

Update written by Joseph

At the hospital, Brady calls Tate and leaves a message that he just dropped Rachel off at her appointment but he knows she’s super excited about trick or treating tonight. Brady says he doesn’t know what Tate’s plans are but invites him to come along if he wants some family time. Cat then walks up and they greet each other. Brady asks if she has a minute as he wanted to say he’s sorry.

EJ enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion and tells Gwen that he has a job for her. Gwen argues that she hasn’t even finished her coffee yet. EJ says it’s urgent and orders Gwen to make nice with Leo Stark.

At the Spectator, Leo asks Chad if they are worried about Theo being the new CEO of DiMera. Chad assures that Theo will do great. Leo reminds Chad about him looking in to if EJ’s construction caused the city wide blackout. Leo says he may have stepped over and caused a tiny problem that he needs Chad’s help in fixing.

Sarah sits alone in the living room, thinking back to ending things with Xander. Philip enters and says that Xander told him what happened and he’s so sorry. Sarah responds that he should be.

Xander goes to the Titan office where he is surprised to find Maggie seated at his desk. Xander says he should’ve known she would show up here and take his place. Xander bets she’s happy with herself. Maggie responds that she hates sitting in this chair. Xander calls it his chair, but Maggie says not anymore.

Cat questions what Brady could have to be sorry about. Brady says apparently Rachel opened her mouth when she shouldn’t have and complicated things for Cat and Chad. Cat says Rachel is a child and it’s okay. Brady argues that Rachel is also old enough to know to respect adult’s privacy, so he feels bad about it. Cat says there were so many other factors involved and it was crazy to think that she and Chad’s relationship could have lasted. Cat says it just wasn’t meant to be and bound to end.

Sarah asks Philip how he could lie to her face and let her believe that Xander was innocent when he almost beat him to death. Sarah questions why he would do that. Philip responds that he tested him, reminding her that he told her that he choked on candy and Xander saved him. Philip reveals that he faked choking just to see what Xander would do. Philip says that Xander could’ve let him die but he didn’t and that’s how he knew Xander changed and valued his life. Sarah argues that Philip told her that story, claiming it didn’t sound like someone who would beat the crap out of his own brother when he did. Sarah adds that Philip stood there as she begged for Xander’s forgiveness and he saw how guilty she felt but he said nothing. Philip says that Xander deeply regrets what he did and only did it because of him. Sarah says he’s making excuses while Philip says he’s taking responsibility because they both know that if it wasn’t for his forged letter, it never would’ve happened. Sarah demands that Philip make up for it now by going to the police and telling them everything. Philip responds that he’s sorry but he can’t do that.

Xander tells Maggie that he’s still co-CEO and nothing she can do can change that. Maggie responds that he’s right, but after what he did to Sarah, she doesn’t trust him with Titan. Maggie announces she has decided to make him a figurehead who can come to the office, but will have no power or say over anything. Xander calls this her fantasy while Maggie declares that she will be running the company with Philip.

Gwen refuses EJ’s request, saying she’d rather make nice with a rabid porcupine than Leo. EJ informs her that Leo was poking around and got caught sneaking around the lab. Gwen admits that’s not good. EJ warns that if Leo keeps it up, he can ruin their plans for the hospital and reminds Gwen of how much that could cost her. Gwen acknowledges that she did put up a considerable amount of money. Gwen then asks what EJ wants her to do.

Leo tells Chad that EJ kept giving him a runaround so he snuck in to the construction site. Chad asks what happened. Leo tells Chad about the caution signs at the site and how they patched up the hole he made in the wall, so he tried the keypad when he felt a presence behind him and turned around to see Rita, who made him jump out of his skin. Chad jokes that must have been really scary for him. Leo talks about Rita knowing his name and that he was a reporter and demanding to know what he was doing there. Chad asks what he told her. Leo says he reminded her that he rescued Gwen there and claimed that he dropped an ear bud there but she saw right through it. Chad jokes that at least he got out of there without being tazed. Leo worries that Rita clearly told EJ about their encounter and asks what if EJ decides to disappear him. Chad thinks he’s overreacting but Leo disagrees and says he’s not going to end up at the bottom of the Salem river in cement heels.

EJ wants Gwen to pretend to forgive Leo. Gwen says the one little problem is that Leo knows she hates him and she’s told him countless times that she would never forgive him for running around behind her back with her husband, so she thinks he would be a bit suspicious about her sudden change of heart. EJ suggests she really sell it. Gwen doesn’t think she can do that since she despises Leo. EJ recalls that Gwen is excellent at masking her true feelings when she wants something, saying she had the Deverauxs fooled for months. EJ calls that quite the talent to have and asks if she’s lost it. Gwen admits that she thinks her talent for deception is in her DNA. EJ then instructs Gwen to convince Leo they are besties again and find out what he knows, what he thinks he knows, and if necessary, stop him before he ruins everything.

Chad thinks Leo is letting his imagination get to him about EJ’s reputation. Leo argues that EJ is a legit gangster. Chad agrees to talk to EJ, tell him that Leo apologizes for sneaking in, and will ask EJ to leave him alone. Leo thanks him and says he still needs the image of Rita out of his head, but he does feel a lot better. Chad says that EJ can be ruthless, but he’s running the hospital now so things have to be on the up and up. Leo still thinks it could be a front while Chad remarks that it’s not like they are building a nuclear bomb in there. Leo says whatever EJ is up to is going to have life changing affects on everyone.

Cat tells Brady that she owes him an apology on her brother’s behalf since Tate’s been through hell and never even had to be involved. Brady says that’s on Sophia, not Aaron. Brady asks about the DNA results and if they found out Aaron is the father or not. Cat says they are supposed to get them back today and that Aaron just wants answers.

Sarah argues that Philip doesn’t want to go to the police to admit what he did because he’d end up in a jail cell right next to Xander. Philip argues that it’s not that, but they have a company to save and brings up that it’s also for her and Victoria. Sarah remarks that she told Xander that she and Victoria will be fine regardless of what happens to Titan. Philip argues that Maggie, Brady, and Alex won’t be, so turning Xander in now would blow their lives straight to hell and he won’t do it.

Xander questions Maggie being in cahoots with Philip when he’s the reason all this happened in the first place. Maggie argues that she doesn’t deny Philip made mistakes but his mistakes were born out of mental illness. Xander says that Philip was perfectly sane when he came with the forged letter. Maggie argues that Philip went to a mental institution and came back still making mistakes, but better. Xander asks if she’s saying that he’s irredeemable. Maggie says it breaks her heart because she saw such promise in him and believed in him. Xander disagrees and says Maggie proved last night that she didn’t have any respect for him. Maggie complains that she just trusted her gut telling her that Xander was still hiding something from Sarah. Xander argues that they were fine and making real progress. Maggie says there was nothing real about it and that his lies were going to come out. Maggie is thankful it came out before he moved back in. Xander tells her that she has no idea how sorry he is for hurting Philip. Maggie argues that he didn’t just try to hurt him, he tried to kill him and then lied about it. Maggie says that’s not a mistake or an error in judgment, that’s who he is. Maggie says it was clear to her and Sarah that no amount of time, faith, or therapy was going to change that. Xander pleads for another chance but Maggie says he’s out of chances. Maggie warns that if he objects to her terms, she will do everything in her power to send him to prison, so she assumes they have a deal.

Cat tells Brady that as soon as the DNA test results are in, she’s sure Aaron will let Tate know. Cat asks how Marlena is doing. Brady says she’s doing okay but she’s not her former self. Brady adds that she was at Belle’s birthday party and in good spirits. Cat sends her best. Brady tells her that Marlena still feels terrible that her leave of absence cost Cat her job and he thinks she feels even worse that now Cat has to work with EJ. Cat admits that so far, it’s been alright. Brady says that’s great but advises Cat to watch her back. Cat says he’s not the first person to tell her that but promises that her guard is always up when EJ is around.

Gwen comments that EJ almost seems scared of Leo Stark of all people. EJ responds that he’s not scared of Leo, he just doesn’t want him to cause any trouble for them. EJ tells Gwen to find out what he knows and report back. Gwen asks about the part about stopping Leo. EJ says to leave that to him. Gwen decides now she is curious and asks if he’s going to hurt Leo. EJ asks why she cares when she hates him. Gwen confirms that she does, but reminds EJ that she signed on to be a silent partner in this venture, so she’d like to keep it that way and won’t be disposing of any dead bodies. EJ remarks that he’s sure it won’t come to that if she does her job right.

Chad asks Leo how Tesoro is doing. Leo talks about his six month checkup and how well he is doing. Leo comments that they won’t be around to celebrate Tesoro’s first birthday. Chad says he doesn’t know that but Leo says he’s pretty sure. Leo talks about how he and Javi have so many memories with Tesoro that he will never remember. Chad says what’s important is that Tesoro soaks it up now, because he’s giving him a sense of safety and security for the rest of his life. Leo asks if Chad is okay. Chad tells Leo about Thomas finding out about he and Cat and now taking it well, so he ended things with her but Thomas still won’t talk to him or look at him. Leo encourages giving Thomas time and space to process things and then he will come back to him. Leo tells Chad to trust in the foundation that he and Abigail built and the love they gave him. Leo calls Chad an incredible father and says he’s certain that Chad will not lose his son.

Sarah asks if Titan is all Philip cares about. Philip responds that he cares about their family and tells Sarah to think about what would happen if this came out. Philip argues that they could lose everything from what Victor built to what Maggie has now. Philip declares that if Xander goes down, they all could. Philip tells Sarah to do what she needs to do, but he’s not abandoning Xander as he won’t turn his back on his family ever again. Philip reminds Sarah that she and Xander will always be connected because of their daughter and he knows Xander still loves her. Sarah stops him and says she doesn’t want to hear about family, forgiveness, or what a gentle soul Xander really is. Sarah declares that she doesn’t want to hear him plead Xander’s case ever again because she is done. Sarah says she doesn’t love Xander anymore and he will never see their child again.

Xander tells Maggie no deal, so Maggie says prison it is then. Xander warns her that if he goes to prison, Philip will go right alongside him and Titan will implode so fast her head will spin. Maggie says not if she has any say in the matter. Xander admires her optimism but says not even the great Maggie Kiriakis can stop this trainwreck. Xander adds that just like that, Victor’s legacy will go up in smoke and calls it fitting, given the mess he left behind. Xander asks Maggie if they should burn it all down.

EJ joins Cat in his office. EJ mentions that he’s sure they are thrilled to have their brother back. Cat thanks EJ for hiring Mark, saying it means a lot. EJ says if Chad’s not holding a grudge, why should he. EJ adds that he knows what it’s like to need a second chance.

Leo shows Chad his Halloween pictures of Tesoro and asks what Thomas and Charlotte are going to be for Halloween. Chad says they were going to do a group costume. Gwen then arrives and tells Leo that he’s just the person she was looking for.

Sarah goes to the hospital where Brady greets her. Sarah guesses he’s waiting for Rachel which he confirms. Sarah remarks that she’s very lucky to have such a good dad. Brady asks if she’s okay. Sarah responds that she’s not.

Maggie tells Xander that they’re not burning anything down. Philip then enters the office and asks what’s going on. Xander tells Philip to tell him since Maggie just informed him that she’d like to throw him out on his ass while they run the company or else she’ll send him to prison and asks if Philip knew anything about this. Philip responds that he doesn’t and tells Maggie that Xander’s not getting locked up which she questions. Philip repeats that Xander’s not going to prison because that only happens if he sends him there and he refuses to do that. Philip states that everyone knows he caused all of this by lying to Xander, cheating him, and stealing from him. Maggie calls that a stupid mistake while Xander nearly killed him. Philip says if the shoe was on the other foot, he would’ve tried to kill him too. Philip says he understands why Xander did what he did, he apologized, and he accepted. Maggie argues that Xander belongs in prison while Philip argues that Xander belongs in his rightful position as co-CEO, so he’s not taking that away from him. Philip tells Maggie that she can go to the police if she wants, but as long as he keeps saying Xander is innocent, she’ll never convince them otherwise. Maggie warns him not to underestimate what she’s capable of. Philip says that he and Xander have screwed up countless times and he knows that she’s heartbroken for Sarah, but that’s no reason to throw away everything Victor left behind. Philip declares they are a highly dysfunctional family, but still family. Philiip reminds Maggie that she’s the one that said they are all in this together which is why they still have Titan but only if they work together and that’s how they honor Victor’s memory. Philip states that they need Maggie’s help but they need Xander’s too. Philip argues that everything is on the line, the Kiriakis name and company. Philip declares that it’s truly over for all of them unless all of them are united, including Xander.

Sarah tells Brady that she and Xander are finished for good this time. Brady says he’s sorry. Sarah says she’s sorry she ever thought Xander could change and for the time wasted and the time Marlena wasted trying to help him. Brady asks where Philip is in all of this. Sarah responds that Philip told her this morning that he would stick to his story, so legally Xander is off the hook and the public will never know the truth, but she does and the truth is that she married a monster. Sarah argues that it’s not even about what he did, but how easily Xander lied about it and how he let her think she was in the wrong. Sarah questions how she could live with or love a man like that. Brady doesn’t know what to say other than that she deserves so much better.

Cat sees the copy of Wuthering Heights on EJ’s desk and informs him that she’s reading that right now too, joking that they can start a two person book club. EJ says he’s been meaning to revisit the classics and somehow, he never got around to this one. EJ remarks that sadly, the book is the only romance in his life currently. Cat says that makes two of them.

Gwen brings up Leo coming to her rescue in the blackout and she realized that she should’ve shown him her appreciation. Gwen calls him her hero and says the more she thinks about it, she’s been remiss to not fully extend herself to him for being heroic and a lifesaver. Gwen offers to show her thanks by taking him to lunch or dinner. Leo asks if there will be poison involved. Gwen says she’s being sincere, so Leo agrees to think about it. Gwen says fair enough and then greets Chad. Gwen mentions hearing Jennifer is in town and sends her regards. Chad remarks that’s not sincere which Gwen then admits and says to tell Jennifer if she goes out on Halloween, to not get behind the wheel for everyone’s safety. Chad sarcastically tells Gwen that it’s always nice to see her. Gwen tells Leo to text her when he’d like to go out to lunch or dinner as she then exits.

Sarah tells Brady that she should back to work. Brady doesn’t think that’s a great idea. Sarah admits he’s probably right as she thought coming to work would take her mind off everything, but she’s not going to be able to focus. Brady asks if she could get someone to cover for her. Sarah says they are dealing with staffing shortages courtesy of EJ but she might can find someone for one shift. Sarah says she will then go home but Brady suggests she wait with him for Rachel, then they can take her to school and he will take Sarah somewhere to make her feel good. Sarah doesn’t think anything could make her feel good right now. Brady tells her to trust him on this one.

Maggie hates to admit it, but states that Philip is right that they may have to work together, but she doesn’t have to like it or Xander. Xander says he can live with that. Philip states that Xander stays on doing exactly what he’s been doing. Maggie agrees, but she wants an office as she plans on keeping a very close eye on everything. Philip agrees to take care of it. Xander says since he’s no longer going to prison, he has a meeting to get to and exits the office. Maggie warns Philip that he’s making a big mistake. Philip responds that Xander has lost everything else, so he needs this and they need him.

Outside the office, a woman approaches Xander to serve him with divorce papers.

Leo asks Chad what that was about. Chad responds that he’s not sure, but maybe he should let Gwen take him out and find out what she’s up to, joking that he gets a free meal out of it. Chad says he doesn’t like Gwen or trust her, but she is Leo’s old friend and they can all use more friends. Chad knows he was sad about losing Gwen, so now is his chance to mend fences. Chad then exits.

Cat tells EJ that she loves the bookstore and is going to miss it. EJ asks what she means. Cat explains that Julie is the new owner, so she’ll probably be banned for life. EJ says if Julie gives her any problems, he will straighten her out. EJ then gets a call from Anna. EJ says to slow down as he can’t understand a word. EJ says he’s sure there’s a reasonable explanation, so he will check it out and get back to her. EJ hangs up as Cat asks what’s wrong. EJ informs her that his brother Tony is missing.

Update written by Joseph

Leo and Javi walk through the town square with Tesoro, talking about the upcoming three days of celebration for Dia de los Muertos until Amy Choi approaches and asks if she can have a moment with her grandson.

Stephanie and Chanel are together at the Pub, talking about Chanel’s bakery catering the book launch. Chanel talks about loving One Stormy Night and her excitement for Anastasia Sands’ next novel. Stephanie says Chanel can shut down the haters who are skeptical about the next novel. Stephanie then tells Chanel that she’s going to let her in on a secret that she can’t tell anyone. Stephanie informs Chanel that Anastasia Sands is going to reveal herself at the launch and that Leo has the exclusive for the Spectator. Chanel is excited that Anastasia Sands will be eating her pastries. Stephanie then reveals that she is Anastasia Sands.

At the Titan office, Philip talks with Alex and Johnny about how much Titan has riding on the success of the next Anastasia Sands novel. Johnny shows Philip everything he has on the promotion of the book so far. Philip notes that the genre shift from romance to mystery could be a move they regret as he’s seen writers kill their career this way. Philip says he will need writers talking about it the next day. Alex then reveals that Anastasia Sands has agreed to unmask at the launch party. Philip asks if Stephanie agreed to play ball and asks Alex how he pulled that off. Johnny is unaware and questions why Stephanie would need convincing and assumes she would want Titan’s biggest author to go public. Johnny asks what he’s missing. Alex guesses he’s going to find out soon enough. Philip then reveals to Johnny that Stephanie is Anastasia Sands.

Sarah demands Xander look her in the eye and tell her that he didn’t attack Philip. Xander then admits he can’t tell her that because it isn’t true. Xander reveals that it was him who attacked Philip.

Amy looks in on Tesoro and says he looks happy. Leo says that he is happy. Amy wishes she could say the same for Sophia. Javi asks how Sophia is. Amy responds that she’s receiving the treatment she needs but there’s been no change.

Chanel is shocked to learn Stephanie is Anastasia Sands, a New York Times best seller. Chanel asks if it’s weird to ask for an autograph. Stephanie points out that she signed her Sweet Bits contract. Chanel says she will sign her copy of the book tomorrow and questions why Stephanie is revealing her secret identity now. Stephanie says it was all going to come to an end whether she likes it or not because someone was going to out her. Stephanie blames Jeremy but says he’s not going to get the satisfaction because no man will ever control her like that again.

Johnny is shocked to learn that his cousin is an erotic novelist. Alex says that Stephanie is still Stephanie, just spicier. Johnny brings up how Chanel will react but Alex says it has to stay under wraps until tomorrow night, so Johnny agrees not to say anything to anyone. Alex then questions how Philip knew that Stephanie was Anastasia Sands. Philip reveals that he knew all along because he read her first manuscript and claims her writing style is so distinctive that he recognized it. Johnny asks if he should cut a follow up trailer to release at the big reveal tomorrow. Philip says sure, if he’s still working at Titan by then.

Javi tells Amy that they are praying Sophia recovers soon. Amy thanks them and says she can use all the prayers she can get. Amy tells Javi that she will always be grateful for how helped Sophia when she collapsed at the Pub as she doesn’t know what she would’ve done if he hadn’t been there. Amy acknowledges that they have both done so much for Sophia and Tesoro. Leo adds that Javi’s family helps. Amy responds that she’s seen how they are with him and she’s known they have always done their best with Tesoro. Javi says he appreciates that. Amy acknowledges that she might not approve of their lifestyle. Leo says they don’t need her to. Amy adds that she thanks the Lord that Tesoro had their family to take care of him.

Sarah gets upset that she was right that Xander beat up Philip and asks how she could ever let herself believe that he could change. Xander says he has changed but Sarah complains that he never changes and will always be the amoral monster who hurts anyone at hand. Xander says that’s not true. Sarah argues that he shot Marlena, kidnapped Bonnie and Susan, and almost killed Brady. Xander calls that a long time ago while Sarah continues that he then lies about it. Sarah talks about beating herself up for thinking the worst of Xander. Xander tries to swear on his soul but Sarah says screw him for making her think he had a soul.

Johnny asks if Philip just fired him or if they don’t like his work. Philip clarifies that Johnny is a DiMera and since the companies are splitting, they just assumed he would feel more comfortable working in the family business. Alex adds that if Johnny is loyal to DiMera, they understand. Philip says they can’t guarantee that Titan will even remain solvent.

Chanel encourages Stephanie taking control and not feeling powerless. Stephanie guesses they are no longer talking about her ex. Chanel explains that this is the week that she and Johnny thought they’d be bringing their baby home, but the adoption is not going according to plan and it’s starting to look like a baby might not be in the cards for them.

Amy recalls when she first saw Tesoro at jury duty. Amy asks if she can hold him for a minute as it might be her only chance since he’s going to his adoptive family soon. Leo is uncertain but Javi assures it will be alright, so Amy holds Tesoro.

Xander asks Sarah to let him try to explain. Sarah asks if he’s going to explain how he put Philip in the ICU or why he’s been gaslighting her for months. Xander says he wanted to tell her for months but he was afraid to lose her. Sarah says he shouldn’t have attacked Philip then. Xander calls it a huge mistake that he’ll regret for the rest of his life, but says he lost it in the moment. Sarah remarks that he lost his family too because this time, they are really and truly done.

Johnny knows Titan has a bumpy road ahead but he has faith in them and their leadership. Philip questions Johnny not returning to the family fold. Johnny says he’s happy for Tony and Theo, but that doesn’t mean he wants to work for them. Johnny adds that he had zero corporate experience when Xander took a chance on him, so he’s not going to forget that and he’s loyal to Titan. Alex says they are glad to hear. Philip states that Johnny does good work when he keeps his head in the game. Johnny assures that his head is in the game. Philip says that they need everyone on peak level if they are going to save the company. Johnny says his trial is over he’s only at college part time and the adoption is on hold. Alex asks about the adoption and if they are going to be parents. Johnny wishes he had an answer.

Stephanie acknowledges that Sophia has been putting Chanel through Hell and says she’s so sorry. Chanel says she’s been grateful for One Stormy Night to have a solid 20 minutes a day to get her mind off this endless mess. Stephanie can’t believe Sophia lied to child services and asks why she would do that. Chanel guesses Sophia resents Johnny for backing out of the adoption and they know how she feels about Holly. Stephanie calls that an awful thing to do and asks if there’s no recourse. Chanel tells her that Rafe wrote to child services on their behalf and told them that they had proof that Holly didn’t send those photos. Chanel adds that Paulina is also pulling for them as Mayor. Stephanie says it sounds like she does have some power. Chanel feels none of that will matter if Sophia doesn’t set the record straight, so they may never be able to bring Tesoro home.

Amy holds Tesoro and says she hates to let him go. Javi encourages that they will all see him again if he stays in Salem with Chanel and Johnny. Amy declares that those two will raise her grandson over her dead body.

Xander tells Sarah that she can’t mean that. Sarah responds that she has nothing left and she can’t do it. Sarah says she knows he’s sorry and he will say he’ll be better for Victoria, but then he’ll go beat the hell out of his own brother, a wounded veteran, in an unfair fight. Xander repeats that he regrets it and he lost his temper over what Philip had done. Sarah asks what if she or Victoria make him that angry. Xander insists he would never hurt them but Sarah says she can’t believe anything he says. Xander argues that he did what she asked and he’s in therapy, so she’s seen how he has changed for them. Sarah declares there is no them anymore. Sarah says she is the one who changed because she will never put her faith in a faithless person again. Sarah orders Xander to get out of the house and never step foot in it again, so Xander then walks out.

Alex and Johnny walk to the Pub. Alex tells Johnny that he’s really sorry about the adoption. Alex knows they haven’t always been cool, but he really is pulling for he and Chanel. Johnny thanks him. Alex knows what they’ve gone through and says they deserve to be parents. Alex adds that child services have got to see that Sophia is a liar. Johnny says he appreciates that but wishes he and Chanel had as much faith as he does.

Javi acknowledges that Amy has been upset with Johnny and Chanel. Amy calls it way more upset and states that everything that went wrong in Sophia’s life started when Johnny backed out of the adoption. Javi tries to argue but Amy says if Johnny hadn’t wasted so much of their time, they could’ve found a good Christian family to adopt. Amy prays that she and Sophia will one day be able to forgive Johnny and Chanel for the pain they caused, but forgiving them and believing they would be good parents are different. Amy doesn’t believe it is in God’s will for Johnny and Chanel to raise Tesoro and she knows it’s not in Sophia’s. Javi tries to question her but Amy says she has to be the voice that Sophia does not have and that adoption is not what she would want, so she will not allow it. Amy then storms off. Leo comments to Javi that took quite a turn.

Johnny and Alex join Chanel and Stephanie in the Pub. Chanel proposes a toast to Anastasia Sands. Johnny is surprised that Chanel knows as they tell each other that they both just found out tonight. Stephanie reminds them to keep it down as Alex notes they are almost at the finish line while Chanel finishes her toast.

Sarah sits at home in front of the fireplace as Maggie returns and asks if Xander left. Sarah confirms he isn’t coming back. Maggie asks if it was true then. Sarah says that he admitted it. Sarah adds that the man she married and loved admitted that he brutally attacked his own brother. Sarah couldn’t bring herself to do it but now she has to face the truth once and for all that Xander is pure evil. Maggie tells her she’s so sorry. Sarah says not to be sorry for her, but glad that she’s no longer pining after the man that she thought Xander could be. Sarah says she used to say she loved him but couldn’t live with him and tonight that changed. Sarah declares that she doesn’t love him anymore and she will never love him again because he crossed a line and there’s no going back from that.

Philip orders room service to his room at the Salem Inn. Xander then shows up at his door. Philip asks what he’s doing there.

Chanel and Johnny walk through the town square. Chanel says if Johnny is happy working for the Kiriakis family then that’s where he should stay, admitting she doesn’t want to work for the DiMeras even if EJ is not involved. Johnny says he’s glad they are on the same page and they kiss until Leo and Javi walk up with Tesoro. Johnny says he doesn’t know if they heard but the adoption is in limbo. They confirm that they have heard because they just ran in to Amy Choi and she’s on the warpath.

Stephanie tells Alex that it was nice with Johnny and Chanel tonight and kind of a relief that they know she’s Anastasia Sands. Stephanie opens up about telling Chanel because she’s her friend, she was getting tired of the secrecy, and totally trusts that Chanel will keep the secret. Stephanie admits that she was kind of surprised that Alex decided to loop Johnny in the night before the big reveal. Alex then reveals that he didn’t, Philip did.

Philip and Xander have beers in Philip’s room as Xander tells him that he lost everything and Sarah threw him out of the house again and wants nothing more to do with him. Philip says she’s said that before but Xander says it’s different this time as he saw hate in her eyes that he caused. Philip says he’s sorry to hear that. Xander says he shouldn’t have come here as Philip has every right to dance on his proverbial grave. Philip says he wouldn’t do that as they have come too far. Xander questions how his only friend left in the entire world is his brother that he almost killed. Philip feels if he forgave him, then Sarah can too in time. Xander responds that he’s out of time and Sarah will never forgive him. Xander states that Sarah held him to a different standard than he does. Philip says that’s because he’s not in love with him. Xander remarks that Sarah’s not either anymore.

Maggie tells Sarah that she hoped so much that she was wrong. Sarah questions how she knew Xander attacked Philip. Maggie says she wanted to make sure there were no more lies that had to come out before he moved back in with Sarah and got her hopes up again. Maggie adds that when she started questioning him about the attack, he got a look in his eye that Victor had when she discovered he was up to no good, so she knew in her soul that Xander was lying. Sarah admits part of her knew it too all along that Xander nearly beat Philip to death and part of her was just in denial, so she spent six months trying to make herself believe that there was some semblance of good in Xander, but no more. Sarah declares that Xander doesn’t deserve her love, her belief in him, or her daughter.

Stephanie questions Philip knowing that she was Anastasia and if Kate told him. Alex says that’s what he thought too but Philip said he recognized her style of writing but that’s not what he meant. Stephanie calls that awkward. Alex agrees but says they both have a past and he knows she dated Philip and that writers draw from their real life all the time. Stephanie questions Alex downing his beer then. Alex responds that his boss, who is his cousin and her ex, just told him that he recognized a sexual encounter that she wrote about in her book. Stephanie guesses he’s mad. Alex says he’s not and that it’s just awkward like she said. Alex says he doesn’t really want to talk about it and suggests ordering dessert.

Johnny tries to suggest giving Amy a break but Chanel asks if Amy’s ever given him a break. Chanel argues that Sophia collapsing wasn’t his fault. Leo and Javi tell them that they are sorry to bring the bad news. Tesoro wakes up crying, so Leo and Javi decide to take him home. Chanel complains that Sophia isn’t going to make this right and now Amy is going to cause whatever damage she can. Chanel worries that they are never going to get to adopt Tesoro. Johnny hugs her and says it’s okay.

Maggie asks Sarah if there is anything she can do. Sarah says she just wants to be alone. Maggie tells her that she loves her and she’s there if she needs anything. Sarah says she loves her too as they hug. Maggie encourages Sarah to remember that she is so strong. Maggie then exits the room. Sarah pulls out her phone and calls Justin to tell him that she wants to file for divorce.

Xander returns home in frustration. Xander goes to smash a glass vase but stops himself and puts it down as he holds back tears.

Update written by Joseph

Xander goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and tells Maggie about Victoria having fun at the pumpkin patch. Xander comments on getting her a jack-o-lantern that he thought might scare her, but she loved it. Maggie relates that to Sarah always taking a liking to things that might frighten others. Xander asks if she means like him.

Sarah sits with Amy Choi at the hospital and tells her that she’s spoke to their psychiatrist and Marlena who both suggested the best way for Sophia to recover is intensive in-patient therapy at a mental hospital. Amy questions institutionalizing her daughter while Sarah encourages that she would have full supervision, medication, and therapy. Sarah suggests Bayview but Amy says absolutely not.

Arianna and Holly go back to their dorm room after their disciplinary meeting. Arianna remarks that it could be worse but Holly questions how.

Brady goes to the Pub and greets Tate. Tate assumes he’s there for Belle’s birthday party. Brady confirms he is and guesses he’s the first one there which he says gives them a chance to talk. Brady asks how Tate is doing. Tate says he’s pretty much feeling every emotion in the book. Brady guesses he’s kind of relieved to know he doesn’t have a kid out there somewhere. Brady adds that he’s probably also a little sad. Tate asks how he knew. Brady admits because he’s feeling the same way.

Marlena calls on Rachel to get ready to go to the Pub while Belle feels there’s no need to make a fuss over her birthday. Marlena says a family gathering at the Pub is no fuss. Rachel comes in and gives Belle her birthday present which is John’s baseball card. Belle responds that Marlena gave it to Rachel, so she can’t take that. Rachel thought she’d need to feel close to John today and says they can share it. Belle thanks her and hugs her. Marlena then gets dizzy and stumbles slightly behind them. Belle tells Rachel that was sweet and she’s glad she’s coming to her birthday dinner. Belle asks Marlena if she’s ready which she says she is.

Brady wishes he could tell Tate something to make it better or give him advice, but calls it strange to mourn the loss of a child he never really had. Tate says he wasn’t ready to be a father and wasn’t going to be raising the baby anyway, but thinking he had a kid out there is hard to make people understand. Brady questions what he means. Tate explains that he feels Holly just thinks he can snap his fingers and get over it.

Arianna encourages Holly that it’s just probation and no big deal while Holly worries that if she does anything else, she’s out. Arianna admits that sucks but says she appreciates Holly taking full responsibility for the fire when she didn’t have to. Arianna calls it so unfair since Holly is such a good person but Holly disagrees and thinks she does deserve it. Holly knows she’s done some reckless and dumb things in life but she never even had detention in high school while now she’s at risk of getting expelled from college. Arianna encourages that she got her punishment out of the way, so now she just has to stay out of trouble and all will be fine. Holly says that’s if she doesn’t screw up again, so she declares no more drinking, partying or having too much fun as she just needs to focus on school only. Holly says she’s sorry but she’s about to become the most boring roommate ever.

Maggie tells Xander that Sarah told her that she asked him to move back in. Xander clarifies that he’ll be in the guest room as they are taking it slow. Maggie hopes for the best but admits she’s worried because the stakes are high with Victoria and what’s going on at Titan. Maggie says they have mortgaged everything to save the business, including their home and Victoria’s inheritance. Xander assures that he’s very aware of the risks. Maggie asks Xander to promise they can trust him this time and to swear he will not let them down.

Sarah tells Amy that she has a daughter so she knows what she is asking. Amy asks for more time so she can take her home and sign her up for outpatient therapy. Sarah says she can’t recommend that as there are too many variables. Amy worries that going in to a facility will mark Sophia for life and people will think she’s crazy. Sarah is aware that mental illness is stigmatized in society, but warns that if Sophia doesn’t get the treatment she needs then she might not have a future.

Arianna encourages Holly that it could be worse, pointing out that Sophia went totally off the rails and is now catatonic. Holly mentions hearing that Sophia hasn’t said a word still so no one can get any answers out of her. Arianna still can’t believe that Sophia had her baby all by herself in her room. Holly says it must have been so scary but argues that it doesn’t excuse lying to Tate all summer and taking those pictures of her to send Johnny. Holly adds that Sophia may have been lying about the father of her baby the whole time. Holly hopes Sophia gets better just so she can face the consequences of her actions. Arianna says they’ll just hope she stops coming after Tate while Holly hopes that Sophia doesn’t come back to Salem U.

Marlena, Belle, and Rachel join Brady at the Pub for Belle’s birthday. Brady hugs her as Belle acknowledges it’s her first birthday without John but she’s glad to be around family. Tate comes over and hugs Belle, wishing her a happy birthday. Tate then takes Rachel to get a milkshake. Rachel stops Tate and says she heard she’s not an aunt anymore which Tate confirms. Tate asks if she’s bummed about it. Rachel responds that she doesn’t know what to feel about it. Tate says him either as he hugs her.

Maggie tells Xander that she has always been his biggest champion. Xander adds that she has at times also been his fiercest critic. Maggie says she’s seen how much he changed when he fell in love with Sarah, calling him a different man from when he first came to town. Xander says it hasn’t been a straight line. Maggie recalls not long ago, she nearly called the police on him for kidnapping his daughter. Xander calls that a very dark time for he and Sarah, noting they have moved past that. Maggie brings up knowing that Xander is seeing Marlena and working on his anger issues. Xander asks what she is afraid of then. Maggie says she’s afraid of history repeating itself and worrying that Xander will go off again when things go south. Xander responds that he’s incredibly grateful to be given a second chance, so he won’t let her, Sarah, and Victoria down. Maggie says it’s been a very long time since Sarah had hope, but she knows no one has ever made her happier than Xander or more miserable. Maggie warns that Sarah can’t take another heartbreak. Xander responds that he can’t either.

Rachel tells Tate that her milkshake is amazing. Tate asks about school. Rachel says it’s okay and mentions having Jeremy as their new teacher. Rachel adds that he lives with Thomas, so he never gets mad at Thomas for talking but always gets mad at her. Rachel comments that if her mom were around, she’d march down to the school and talk with him. Tate says he knows she really misses her mom and that maybe she can go see her soon. Rachel says she hopes so and that Marlena said she would take her. Tate brings up that his mom was in prison too and he really missed her a lot, but she’s out now and it just feels like a bad dream. Belle gets a work call and promises to be quick as she steps away to answer. Marlena asks Brady about work. Brady calls it stressful, given the separation of DiMera and Titan. Marlena asks if he’s had any problems with Xander. Brady says surprisingly no, so Marlena must be working miracles with anger management because he’s been cool throughout this mess. Marlena says she’s very glad to hear that. Brady adds that he’s getting along with Xander and everything’s fine, but he’s not sure he wants to stick with Titan or what he wants to do with the rest of his life. Marlena didn’t know he felt that way. Brady admits he has been feeling it for awhile and thinks it’s because of losing John making him think about what’s important. Brady adds that the thought of Basic Black being outside the family makes him crazy. Marlena says that John was incredibly proud of Basic Black but he would never want Brady to feel obligated to run it and would understand if he wanted to do something else. Brady states that he just doesn’t know what that something else is.

Holly finds a piece of clothing that still has a stain from the fire and throws it away. Holly thanks Arianna for bringing all of her clothes in and says it must have been heavy. Arianna says she got some help from a hot guy. Arianna adds that she thought he was just random but then she saw his picture in the paper and realized it was Theo. Arianna says she didn’t recognize him and doesn’t think he recognized her either. Holly points out that Theo is way too old for her and says she’s learned from Johnny that you do not want to be thirsting after an older guy. Arianna agrees and jokes that she’ll go back to being the supportive friend with no love life. Holly encourages that Arianna will find someone.

Amy remarks that Sarah must think she’s a terrible mother, knowing that her daughter gave birth on her own and never confided in her, so she had no idea what she was going through. Sarah says she knows how hard parenting can be. Sarah adds that she’s been a doctor for a long time and knows how stressful Sophia’s situation was. Sarah adds that she may have made questionable decisions along the way, but ultimately she did what she felt was right to protect her child. Sarah encourages that Amy raised a brave and resourceful daughter and they both deserve credit for that, but now Amy has to do what’s right to protect Sophia.

Maggie tells Xander that she’s just trying to protect her daughter. Xander insists that things are different this time and in the past, he didn’t have the tools he has now as Marlena is helping him with triggers and coping mechanisms. Xander assures that he does not want to go back to the way he used to be and that he’s committed to moving forward as a better husband, father, and man. Maggie says she’s heard that before. Xander asks how he can reassure her. Maggie brings up Konstantin’s deception and then Philip’s and being blindsided by Tony’s lawsuit. Maggie needs to know there are no more lies or secrets that could come out. Xander asks what she’s afraid that he might be lying about. Maggie responds that she’ll let him tell her that. Maggie adds that his silence tells her that there is something else.

Rachel asks Brady how come Tate had to leave. Brady says he had to go check in with a friend. Belle tells Brady that she wanted to run something by him because EJ came by earlier. Brady questions what he wanted. Marlena sends Rachel to refill her milkshake. Belle says that’s a good call as Rachel didn’t need to hear any of this. Brady asks what EJ wanted. Belle explains that EJ was pressuring her to throw the book at Sophia for what she did to Johnny and she doesn’t think it required felony charges, but since Tate was also affected, she wanted to get Brady’s thoughts on it. Brady agrees that Sophia has been through enough. Marlena agrees as Sophia hurt a lot of people but is also suffering herself.

Amy guesses Sarah has known about this for awhile and that Sophia talked to her about the baby. Sarah confirms which Amy understands was doctor-patient confidentiality. Amy can’t help but feel jealous. Sarah says the only reason Sophia opened up to her is because she confronted her. Amy complains that Sophia hid the truth from her for months and now won’t even look at her. Sarah says from what Marlena says, Sophia is protecting herself by disassociating from the situation. Amy wonders how long it will be. Sarah says she doesn’t know which is why she thinks the best thing to do is support their plan.

Tate goes to see Holly at the dorms. Arianna decides to go study at the library. Holly says she has a lot of studying to do herself. Tate offers to help and tries to kiss her but Holly stops him.

Xander gives Maggie his word that he will never betray Sarah or Victoria ever again. Maggie says he didn’t answer her question and asks if he’s hiding something. Maggie guesses it’s Philip’s attack which Xander questions. Maggie says she’s been thinking a lot about that day and what she personally witnessed. Maggie reminds him that she was here when he came home and the look in his eyes plus his hand being scratched up. Xander says they’ve been through all of this. Maggie says that they were all convinced that Xander had done it, but Philip came forward and cleared him so Sarah was relieved and they were all united as a family. Maggie declares that the truth is, she knew and has always known deep in her soul that it was him. Xander asks why she can’t just let it go. Maggie cries that she can’t let it go because she loves him but she knows who he is and who he’s been. Maggie remembers what he did to Brady. Maggie adds that Xander never denied hurting Philip before he let him off the hook and he just skirted the question like he is doing now.

Tate asks Holly if there’s a better time for him to come over. Holly says she’s sorry but she has to rewrite the film paper she deleted and they should probably start working on their questions for their project. Tate says they can do all that tomorrow but Holly pulls away and says she told him not tonight, leaving Tate confused.

Amy sits with Sophia and tells her that she spoke to her doctors, who want her to move her to another hospital where she can stay and get around the clock care because they think it’s the best way for her to get well and she agrees. Sophia remains catatonic as Amy asks if she understands what she’s saying.

Xander tells Maggie that he doesn’t understand what she’s asking him. Maggie asks if Xander attacked Philip. Xander can’t believe they are back to this again when she heard what Philip said. Maggie shouts that she doesn’t care what Philip said as she wants to hear Xander say it. Maggie tells him to answer the question as Sarah comes home and asks what’s going on. Maggie orders Xander to look Sarah in the eye and tell her that he didn’t attack Philip. Sarah questions why they are back to this. Maggie responds that it’s because Xander has been lying to her.

Rachel tells Belle that she should have a milkshake for her birthday. Belle jokes with Brady about desserts when they were kids. Rachel joins in until she accidentally drops her milkshake glass, triggering a flashback to when she broke the glass figure at the DiMera Mansion. Marlena asks if she’s alright. Brady and Belle encourage Rachel while Rachel feels she made such a mess. Marlena takes Rachel outside to get some fresh air. Belle wonders what that was about. Brady says he has no idea.

Marlena takes Rachel outside and asks if she’s sure she’s okay as she seemed upset when she dropped her milkshake. Rachel explains that it reminded her of when she dropped EJ’s paper weight and he got really mad at her. Marlena assures that EJ wasn’t angry and understood it was an accident. Marlena asks if anything else is bothering her. Rachel says no and asks what else there would be. Marlena says nothing at all and that everything is going to be okay. Rachel asks if they can go back inside as she wants to be with Brady. Marlena says of course, so they head back in to the Pub. Brady asks if everything is okay. Marlena says everything is fine.

Tate asks if Holly is mad at him. Holly says she’s not mad, but he didn’t even ask her about the disciplinary hearing. Tate apologizes and admits he forgot, but says it was obviously okay since she’s still here. Holly says she didn’t get kicked out, but she’s on probation. Tate says that’s no big deal but Holly argues that it is to her and remarks that she’s not used to getting kicked out of schools like he is. Holly then apologizes, saying she didn’t mean that and that she’s just stressed. Tate asks if they are good. Tate knows he wanted to take things slow but guesses he just needs her right now. Holly responds that she needs him too but after everything with the baby and now Sophia’s condition and the fire, it’s not like they can just pick up and jump back in to where they left off. Tate brings up when they are here together but Holly repeats not tonight. Tate guesses he will see her later then and exits.

Amy tells Sophia that she’s going to miss her so much and she deeply regrets how hard she was on her when she learned that she was pregnant and not supporting Sophia’s decision to give the baby up for adoption. Amy cries that she wants her to know that she loves her with all her heart. Amy states that Sophia is her oldest, the one who made her a mom, and always her pride and joy.

Sarah asks Maggie to give them a minute, so she exits. Sarah questions Xander as to why Maggie is saying he’s lying. Xander responds that he doesn’t know as he got home and Maggie started hurling accusations at him. Sarah says that doesn’t make sense and that Xander must have done something. Xander questions her thinking he’s lying now but Sarah says of course not, so Xander hopes she won’t put him through this ridiculous exercise. Sarah questions if it’s ridiculous since Maggie just wants her to be safe and happy and she’s rooting for them. Sarah feels that Maggie bringing it up again must be for a reason. Xander argues that they were doing so well and had a wonderful day with Victoria. Sarah demands Xander look her in the eye and tell her that he didn’t attack Philip. Xander then admits he can’t tell her that because it isn’t true. Xander reveals that it was him who attacked Philip.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Leo runs in to EJ at the Brady Pub. EJ tells him to stay in his lane and mind his own business. Leo tells EJ that he’d love a tour of the free clinic. EJ remarks that he already got one when he busted Gwen out of the storage room. Leo says that was quick and hasty while he wants something more in-depth, adding that the people of Salem would like to know where their tax money is going to. EJ doesn’t think they are quite ready for an in-depth tour yet and tells him to feel free to crowd in when everyone else does. Leo responds that rejection is fine with him.

Thomas goes to the living room and asks if Jeremy is playing a game on his phone. Jeremy clarifies that he was making a dating profile as he figured he would try to meet some people since he’s staying in Salem for awhile. Thomas guesses he needs a girl.

Alex and Stephanie talk at the Titan office about Stephanie’s plan to introduce the world to Anastasia Sands. Julie arrives and is surprised to see them, joking that Stephanie is everywhere these days. Julie asks if Stephanie is doing publicity for the new Anastasia Sands novel. Stephanie confirms that she is and adds that they are including a book signing which Julie says would be wonderful at her bookstore. Julie questions how she can do a book signing if Anastasia Sands is anonymous and if she’s going to wear a disguise. Stephanie then reveals that she won’t be anonymous anymore. Julie asks if she is someone she knows. Stephanie responds that she actually does know her very well. Stephanie then reveals to Julie that she is Anastasia Sands.

Cat walks through the town square with her brother Mark on his first day out from prison. They talk about Felicity being in class while Mark says he has plenty of time to see her. Cat tells Mark that Felicity is making a welcome home dinner and Aaron is coming too. Mark says he’s missed them so much and he’s grateful for their support as it kept him going. Cat says they missed him too but now he’s home and it’s time for a fresh start. Chad then walks in to the town square and they see each other. Chad stops but then walks away. Mark complains that he should’ve manned up and apologized or thanked Chad for not objecting to his release. Cat encourages that there’s plenty of time for that and that Chad is dealing with this in his own way, so they need to focus on what they can control and leave the past behind while looking forward to the future.

Chad joins EJ at the Pub. Chad assumes EJ heard about Theo taking over DiMera Enterprises which EJ confirms. Chad brings up Theo wanting to know if he was interested in the position. EJ thinks Theo just didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes. Chad thinks Theo wanted to make sure he really wanted the position. EJ feels Theo didn’t have much choice since Tony flew him halfway around the world, so he wouldn’t say no. EJ calls Theo a very bright young man, but questions why Tony wouldn’t ask Johnny instead since he already lived in Salem and already worked for Titan-DiMera. Chad says Johnny seems to like what he’s doing at Titan. EJ feels it would’ve been respectful if Tony asked Johnny. Chad responds that at least the company is back in the family where it belongs. Chad asks how things are going between EJ and Johnny. EJ admits there’s been no improvement to speak of. Chad remarks that he knows what he means.

Julie can’t get over the fact that Stephanie is Anastasia Sands. Julie talks about the risque scenes in One Stormy Night being graphic but beautifully written. Stephanie thanks her while Alex talks about it being a best seller while her next novel could be even bigger. Julie questions why Stephanie is coming out now. Stephanie says initially she did not want her two lives to intersect, but Leo found out her secret. Julie remarks that Leo has a talent for ruining everything.

Jeremy shows Thomas his dating profile. Thomas is glad Jeremy is his new teacher, even if he told his dad he didn’t do his math homework. Jeremy says he didn’t mean to get him in trouble but he wants to see him do his best. Jeremy adds that Chad told him he’s going through some stuff lately and asks if he wants to talk about it.

Stephanie tells Julie that they are not going to let Leo ruin everything, so they decided the best course of action is to collaborate with him to do this reveal the right way. Julie calls that a choice. Alex says they are grateful that Julie is willing to work with them on the book launch. Julie calls it her pleasure but questions if that means she has to work with Leo, as Leo then arrives at the office.

Mark understands Chad not wanting anything to do with him, but he thought Chad and Cat had a sort of friendship. Cat confirms that they did, then it became more than friendship but it didn’t pan out. Mark says he’s so sorry. Cat guesses he can imagine why which Mark confirms. Cat says she understands and she gets it, feeling she was naïve to think Chad’s family could ever accept her after what they put them through. Cat cries about getting closer to Chad than she’s been to anyone in her life outside of their family. Cat admits she misses Chad a lot as Mark hugs her.

Chad explains to EJ that Rachel told Thomas about Cat masquerading as Abigail because she was losing at a game. EJ guesses Rachel has inherited Kristen’s zeal for stirring up trouble. Chad says she’s just a child and she apologized to them. EJ remarks that Rachel has caused a problem for Chad and his family over something that’s none of her damn business. Chad says what’s done is done and he told Thomas that he would fix it, but it’s still a long road. EJ tells Chad that Cat is quite heartbroken over the end of their relationship. Chad argues that he knows EJ thinks he’s going to be there to pick up the pieces and tells him not to do it. EJ responds that Cat is his assistant so their relationship is strictly professional and their dinner was business. EJ assures that he has enough on his plate without adding romance to the mix and with his assistant would be an HR nightmare. EJ insists that he’s not interested in Cat in that way. EJ says he is sorry for what they are going through. Chad responds that he’s sorry for what EJ is going through with Johnny and he hopes they resolve it soon. EJ calls it heartbreaking to lose the trust of your children.

Cat tells Mark that she’s okay and asks what his plan is now that he’s a free man. Mark responds that his first order of business is to find a job. Mark says his medical license is suspended so he obviously can’t work as a doctor. Mark says he loved working at the hospital, so if they let him, he would do intake or research but he doubts Kayla would consider it. Cat responds that it might not be up for Kayla, since EJ owns the hospital. Mark mocks the idea of EJ wanting to hire the guy who tried to kill his brother. Cat encourages Mark to talk to EJ, pointing out that she was just as involved in Clyde’s plan but EJ hired her. Mark asks if she really thinks he should talk to EJ. Cat thinks he has nothing else to lose.

Jeremy tells Thomas that he’s here if he wants to talk about anything. Thomas tells Jeremy about Chad dating a lady who did very bad things to their family. Jeremy asks if Chad tried to explain. Thomas confirms that he did but argues that he shouldn’t have dated her as she pretended to be Abigail. Jeremy asks if Thomas feels better talking about it and suggests he try that with Chad. Thomas says he doesn’t know. Jeremy encourages that Chad was able to forgive Cat, which means she must be truly sorry for what she did. Thomas suggests that Jeremy could show Chad how to set up a dating profile so he could meet someone new and nice. Jeremy promises to talk to him about it.

Leo gives his word that he won’t publish his article about Stephanie being Anastasia Sands which Stephanie questions, noting it being out of character. Leo says when he left her place, he had no doubt that she was Anastasia Sands but then he thought that they were former colleagues and are friends. Leo asks what kind of friend he would be if he revealed her identity and what kind of reporter he would be if he published a story he couldn’t confirm. Leo says that would only serve his ego and he’s starting to think he’s a pretty fine human being. Julie comments that wonders will never cease while Alex calls that big of him. Leo adds that he does think Stephanie should still come out with her secret. Julie thinks that’s because Leo can’t keep a secret. Leo explains that when more than two people know, it’s no longer a secret. Stephanie declares that’s exactly why they should move forward with the unmasking and they want Leo to be apart of it. Leo says he wants the exclusive before it goes viral, a sit-down interview, and to cover the launch at Julie’s Book Club store. Julie is against the idea but Leo says it’s free publicity. Stephanie thinks it will be good for all of them which Julie reluctantly agrees to. Leo jokes that it’s a moment for the history books to have Julie on board. Leo tells Stephanie that she has a deal as they shake hands.

Chad finds Cat reading Wuthering Heights in the park.

EJ sits in his office reading Wuthering Heights when Mark arrives to drop off his resume. Mark acknowledges Wuthering Heights and says he read it in college, calling it one of the greatest love stories of all time. Mark introduces himself but EJ says he knows who he is, but he doesn’t know why the hell he is here.

Julie tells Stephanie and Alex that she will be in touch. Leo asks what about him. Julie says she’ll be in touch with him too but admits it pains her to say that. Alex then walks Julie out. Leo excitedly tells Stephanie that this will be so much fun. Leo says he wants to ask her about EJ since he gives him the runaround whenever he asks about the free clinic and the blackout. Stephanie says she will not entertain any questions about that as the hospital has said all they are going to say and any further questions can be addressed at the next city council meeting. Leo comments on her lack of help there but says he’ll see her soon and jokes about her being Anastasia Sands. Leo then exits as Alex returns. Stephanie tells Alex that she thinks they got what they wanted. Alex agrees and declares she will have the best book launch ever. Alex adds that there is one thing that he wants as he shuts the door and kisses her.

Chad approaches Cat in the park and greets her, saying he just wanted to apologize for how he acted earlier when he saw Mark as he didn’t know what to say. Cat says Mark is the one who feels he should’ve said something as he feels ashamed, but he’s so grateful that Chad didn’t object his release. Chad is sure her family is happy that he’s home. Cat asks how his family is and how Thomas is. Chad admits it hasn’t been easy. Chad says he’s talked to him, apologized, and told him that he and Cat were over but he’s still distant. Chad adds that Thomas said he wanted to go live with Jack and Jennifer in Boston. Cat says she’s so sorry. Chad says he tried to make things right, but guesses it’s not that simple.

Mark tells EJ that’s a good question as after what he did, he probably shouldn’t be within a hundred yards of EJ’s family. Mark explains that Cat encouraged him to talk to EJ, saying that he was an understanding man who would do anything for his family, just like he did which EJ mocks. Mark knows EJ won’t give a damn, but despite Clyde’s orders, he never would’ve hurt Chad and just wants to get his life back on track and right his wrongs. Mark says he can’t practice medicine but he would be happy to do anything to give back. Mark tells EJ about his graduation and putting himself through med school by working night shifts at a research lab. Mark doesn’t expect anything and knows it’s a big ask, but says he’d really appreciate EJ at least considering him if something came up at the hospital. Mark thanks EJ and goes to leave but EJ stops him and declares he may have an idea.

Leo goes to the hospital clinic in construction which is blocked off by caution tape. Leo sees they fixed the hole he put in the wall and says he’ll have to figure another way in. Leo tries the keypad when Rita appears and acknowledges him as the reporter. Rita declares that Leo is trespassing.

Alex and Stephanie go to the town square, joking about extravagant ideas for her book launch. Stephanie admits she’s going to miss the privacy and no one knowing her, while now she will have to play the role of a sort of well known novelist. Alex reminds her that they don’t have to do this but Stephanie insists that it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out. Stephanie still believes that Jeremy outed her when she really thought he turned over a new leaf and would stay the hell out of her life but clearly that wasn’t in the cards. Jeremy then walks by and comes across them.

Rita questions if Leo wants to tell her what he’s doing here or if she should call security. Leo explains how he rescued Gwen during the blackout and claims that he dropped an ear bud. Rita questions him thinking it would still be at an active construction site days later. Rita reminds him that it’s a restricted area and he doesn’t have clearance to be there which means he’s a liability. Rita warns Leo to leave now and not come back, so he hurries out.

EJ tells Mark that he may have use for his research skills. EJ explains that’s if he agrees to sign an NDA and is trusted enough to not ask questions, keep his head down, and just do the work. Mark says he doesn’t want to go back to prison. EJ tells him not to worry as it has nothing to do with the hospital, but private research that he is funding out of his own pocket and he thinks Mark would be perfect for. EJ says if not, he’s free to take his chances somewhere else. Mark agrees to whatever EJ needs him to do. EJ thinks they will work well together.

Cat tells Chad that she’s sorry this is so hard, but encourages that Thomas loves him and she’s sure that once he realizes they are truly over, he’ll come around. Chad says he hopes so. Cat says he should probably go before someone sees them together. Chad tells Cat to take care as he walks away.

Jeremy says he’ll be on his way but Alex calls out that he’s got some nerve. Stephanie tries to stop Alex but Alex argues that Jeremy pulled the ultimate bitch move so they aren’t going to let him off the hook that easily. Jeremy questions what he’s talking about. Alex accuses Jeremy of blabbing to Leo that Stephanie is Anastasia Sands. Jeremy asks who Leo is. Alex tells him not to play dumb and that he knows what he did. Jeremy questions if they switched up their meds and says he honestly doesn’t. Alex tries to go after him but Stephanie holds him back, saying he’s not worth it. Alex agrees. Stephanie asks Jeremy to please stay away as she and Alex walk off.

Rita goes to EJ’s office. EJ asks her to look at Mark Green’s resume, vet him, and come back with a thorough background check as he wants to know everything there is to know about Mark. Rita agrees to do her best, but lets EJ know that she found Leo nosing about where he shouldn’t have been as she caught him in the clinic, claiming he was looking for a lost ear bud. EJ is frustrated and declares that Leo is becoming a serious problem that they need to take care of sooner than later.

Interview with Jonathan Bennett and Melissa Peterman

TV Interview!

Jonathan Bennett, Melissa Peterman, Drake Kuyper, Marcus Brodie, Angel Garet and Robbie Simpson of "Finding Mr. Christmas" on Hallmark

Interview with Jonathan Bennett, Melissa Peterman, Drake Kuyper, Marcus Brodie, Angel Garet and Robbie Simpson of “Finding Mr. Christmas” on Hallmark by Jamie 10/1/25

Finding Mr. Christmas is a reality competition on Hallmark premiering its second season on Monday, Oct. 27. I recently spoke with both the host, Jonathan Bennett and judge, Melissa Peterson, as well as four of the contestants: Robbie, Angel, Drake, and Marcus. Both Jonathan and Melissa were a delight, and they, as well as the contestants, seemed to have a lot of fun making the show, and the men made a lot of lasting friendships coming out of the competition.

I was only given the first episode to watch, but it was a lot of fun. The contestants take part in various Christmas-themed competitions, such as making a Santa costume to show who they are, as well as acting challenges where they get to perform alongside Hallmark stars. In the first episode, they had to ski over to actress Janelle Parris and act out a scene with her. That competition was hilarious, because most of the men didn’t know how to ski, and no one helped them with that. The four men spoke to me about acting out the scene with Janelle and which challenges they found difficult.

Jonathan and Melissa talked about advice they gave the contestants, many of whom were new to acting and the hoops they had them jump through. Both were really great conversations, and the series is worth a watch. Season 2 premieres 10/27 on Hallmark Channel and is available to stream the next day on Hallmark+.

TRANSCRIPTS OF THE INTERVIEWS

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Jamie’s coming to us from space! How’s the signal up there?

JAMIE RUBY:   It’s hard to hear. [laughs] It’s nice to talk to you all. I enjoyed the first episode that we got to see. Jonathan, let me start with you. How do you feel that the show has evolved since last season?

JONATHAN BENNETT:   You know, we took everything we learned from season one and, you know, expanded that into season two to make it even bigger and bolder than season one. I can’t believe I got away with what I got away with in season two. Like, when I said to the executives, “Hey, I want to hang them from a cable in a harness thirty feet and fly them through the air,” they were like, “Yeah, that’s a great idea.” And I’m like, “Are you sure?” They’re like, “Yeah.” I’m like, “Okay, great. I also want to put them on skis in the first episode and make them ski down a hill while having to memorize a scene and act with the biggest Hallmark star, Janelle Parrish, and they only get one take. They have to do it, and whatever happens, happens.” And they’re like, “Yeah, that’s a great idea.” And I’m like, “Great.” So, it’s just, you know, I think my sandbox has expanded, and I’ve been able to play with all the different things in it a lot bigger.

JAMIE RUBY:   All right, that’s fair. Robbie and Angel, what made you both want to be a part of this?

ROBBIE:   Oh, yeah. I’ve been watching Hallmark movies forever when I was on the couch with Hot Coco with my family members. So, to be able to be a part of the Hallmark universe and tell these stories that I have watched forever, I mean, Hallmark is the place for feel good entertainment. So, you know, when you click that on, you’re just going to feel good. And then also to do that with Jonathan Bennett and learning from him and also laughing with him was just a total blast and an easy yes for me.

JAMIE RUBY:   What about you Angel?

ANGEL:   I grew up in Venezuela, and I immigrated to this beautiful country, and every Christmas I would watch movies to enjoy it and learn English, and Hallmark was my go-to. Then, when the opportunity came to be part of a Hallmark on a scripted show, I was like, “I have to do this.” I’ve been doing this for years, every Christmas, and I’m excited that I’m part of it.

JAMIE RUBY:   What did you two do to prepare? And did you go back and watch season one?

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Yeah. What’d you do to prepare for this?

JAMIE RUBY:   If anything.

JONATHAN BENNETT:   If anything, they can’t really prepare what I put them through, because every day they’re like, “Why do we have to do [that]? What, Jonathan, what are we doing?”

ANGEL:   I watched season one first. I researched who this awesome host was, and then just, a lot of self-talk. English is my second language, so I had to like, tell myself, “You’ve got this.” You just gotta be present, active, listening, cheer for others, let go of ego, let go of your past, enjoy the moment, pay attention and just take as much information from the hosts, your friends, and everybody else. And the Christmas movies help too.

JONATHAN BENNETT:   That’s right.

ROBBIE:   I love unscripted television. I love watching reality TV. So, this has been a total dream for me to get dropped into my ideal reality television show, you know, being an actor.

So, I watched season one, probably like three times, just trying to figure out everything that was going on, but that helped to a certain extent. But as soon as I got there, Jonathan [was] switching it up on us constantly, so I just realized that like every day, it just was about saying “Yes, and.” What are we doing today? Getting excited about that. Then, also just having fun. Like at the end of the day, I think that’s the name of the game, and that was what helped me do well was enjoying the time together and enjoying the other guys. And it was a total blast.

ANGEL:   I mean, this show lets us bring our inner child out. We were kids in a playground, and that was just the best experience ever.

JAMIE RUBY:   And Jonathan, having been in Hallmark Christmas movies, did you find yourself trying to give them advice? Did you try not to??

JONATHAN BENNETT:   The best way to learn how to do something is to just do it. And I’ve done, I think, twelve, thirteen Hallmark movies at this point. So, like, I’ve learned so much from doing that when I’m hosting and judging these guys. I’m able to like share all my knowledge with them. And I’m like, “Hey, when you do this, you know, you might want to think about this, because this is going to happen.” Like anytime I have a chance to coach them, you know, from what I can coach, because it is a competition. So, I kind of got to let them – I’ll give them advice, but I don’t want to see – I’ve got to let them see what they do on their own first, you know? But then the feedback after they do it is usually where I’m able to help them and say, “Okay, next time do this,” you know? And they soaked it up like sponges.

ROBBIE:   I think the thing that sets this show about apart from other reality television is that every day we showed up to set and felt supported, and Jonathan, Melissa, and the judges wanted us to succeed. They were helping us through that, and that’s not something you see on a lot of reality television, but it’s definitely why I think Hallmark putting their specific stamp on this show is what makes this different and why people are going to love this.

JAMIE RUBY:   Did you guys have more trouble with the acting challenges or with the other challenges?

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Ooh, that’s a good question. What’d you have a harder time with? I mean, they both struggled in both of them in different ways. I’m not going to lie, but that’s part of – that’s the fun of the show.

ROBBIE:   I think what was hard is that for this show, you’re doing both at the same time. So, like you’re acting, but then you’re also doing it. Do you know, like riding an animal of some sort? Do you know?

JONATHAN BENNETT:   They’re on skis or hanging in the air or riding an animal while acting.

ROBBIE:   Yeah. So, you know, you can take an acting class. You can go to acting school for as long as you want, but nothing is going to prepare you for some of the stuff that you’re doing on this show. But if you just focus and just remember, kind of who you are, what you’re there to do, and then act opposite the incredible celebrity Hallmark scene partners that we had, then you’re going to do great.

JONATHAN BENNETT:   What about you, Angel?

ANGEL:   I mean, just, it doesn’t matter how prepared you are. Just like Robbie was saying, it’s just surprise after surprise. This season brought so many twists that kept us on our toes. Yeah. So, it doesn’t matter if it was an acting challenge, a modeling challenge, or anything. Everything was out of the ordinary.

JAMIE RUBY:   You say that though. What surprised you the most?

ANGEL:   What surprised me the most? The skis, because I’ve never skied before in my life, and I remember Jonathan was like, “Are you ready?” “No. How do you break?” “Bye! Action!”

[laughter]

JAMIE RUBY:   What about you, Robbie

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Angel falls down on his skis. We’ll do a spoiler alert.

JAMIE RUBY:   A lot of people fell down.

ROBBIE:   Watching Angel fall was not surprising to me, but what was surprising to me was I thought that I was signing up for an unscripted competition reality show, and as soon as I got there, I realized that that’s not what this was going to be. I met the other guys, and it became a show about community, and it wasn’t about the competition. The only person you were competing with is yourself every single day, and the community and the brotherhood that was developed between all of us. I don’t even think it was something anyone was expecting on set, like crew or hosts or judges. It just was this natural melding of all these awesome guys. So, I came for a competition, but I left for the community.

ANGEL:   I remember when I fell and came back to the group, the guys were already talking amongst themselves. “All right. Does anyone know how to break?” “Oh, yeah. Do this. Do that.” We’re already helping each other. Like, hey, if you have a hard time, try this or do this. So, in my head, I was like, this is a competition and people are already helping each other? Wow.

JONATHAN BENNETT:   And that was day one. I don’t shine if you don’t shine. That’s something I tried to instill in them is like, it doesn’t matter how good you’re doing. If the people around you and your scene aren’t doing well, then you’re not doing well. So, it’s like, make everyone around you better, and if you do that, then you’re going to be lifted up.

JAMIE RUBY:   Speaking of scene partners, what was kind of like your first reaction, I guess, to getting to do a scene with Janelle? Were you nervous? How did you feel? Both of you.

ROBBIE:   I think it was twofold, because you’re so excited to be working with these incredible actors, especially Janelle, that you’ve watched in so many networks and so many television shows, legends of Hallmark. So, you’re so nervous, but then at the same time, I had to remember, like, wait, she’s the best at what she does. So, just like Jonathan said, if she is shining, I’m going to shine. So, I was just listening to her, and being able to talk to her beforehand was really helpful. And the better she was, the better I was going to do, and that’s what I was able to give over to, and it made me feel so much better.

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Did any of them really intimidate you, Angel, like any of the stars?

ANGEL:   Her beauty intimidated me.

[laughter]

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Janell is intimidating. She’s beautiful.

ANGEL:   She was easy to connect. I remember introducing myself to her, and she gave me a big smile. “Hi, nice to meet you.” And then, spoiler alert, I take her down with me, and I’m like, “What are you doing?” Time slows down. Get up. We finally get up. And it was so smooth after that. Like, we got that out of the way. We got that out of the way. So, now let’s just have fun and enjoy the scene.

JAMIE RUBY:   Yeah, the skiing part was hilarious. Jonathan, I want to ask you really quick. One of your first roles was on a soap opera on All My Children. What did that teach you, that experience? And do you still find yourself using that?

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Yeah, you know, I think soap operas are the best training camp. And now it’s kind of like what they call the verticals, like the candy jar and the real shorts and all that. Those verticals are great training ground for actors, because it’s low expectations and low stakes. Like I said earlier, the best training is just to do it. And so, every day, when you’re on a soap, you’re standing in front of a camera, and you’re acting every single day. Whether it’s good or not doesn’t matter, because they’re going to shoot the next scene in two minutes. So, whatever you said is what’s going on in the air, and that’s a real quick way to learn how to become an actor. So, with, you know, Finding Mr. Christmas, I think there’s a similarity there. It’s like, just go do it. And they’re like, “Well, how do we do it?” Well, you’ll figure it out.

And to watch their growth from the beginning of the episodes to the end of the episodes, you know, throughout the whole season, to watch these boys grow, each one of them grow in a different way, and they take that with them onto their auditions.

JAMIE RUBY:   I know we’re almost out of time, but what are you two taking away the most?

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Yeah, what are you guys taking from the show?

ANGEL:   I’m taking so much. I’m taking joy, vulnerability, teamwork. And this experience has taught me and made me a better man. Like I’m putting everything that I learned on this show into my own life with my personal lifestyle, with my family, and I’m excited for what’s next.

ROBBIE:   Yeah, thank you, Hallmark.

JONATHAN BENNETT:   Yeah. This might be Mr. Christmas. You never know. Or this could be Mr. Christmas. What are you taking away possible, Mr. Christmas?

ROBBIE:   I’m really taking away that being your authentic self is absolutely what is wanted in this industry and is wanted at Hallmark. All of the things that make us who we are, the community, the love, the family, all of those values that you hold dear, just letting those out and being the part of the scene, whether it’s in a conversation you’re having with someone on the crew. I mean, that’s what it takes to be a Hallmark leading man is not just who you are in front of the camera, is who you are off the camera. It’s how you live your life. And when you’re able to let out all of those things that make you an authentic person and let people in on that, that’s the joy. And I think that’s what they’re looking for on the show.

VIDEO #2 TRANSCRIPT

JAMIE RUBY:   Let’s start with you, Melissa. How do you think the show’s evolved since season one? What do you feel is different this season?

MELISSA PETERMAN:   You know, season one, I think we loved what happened there. So, we didn’t really change the sort of the foundation of that show, but, you know, Jonathan had more time to dream of bigger challenges. So, everything got a lot bigger. We asked a lot more of the guys in the acting challenges. We have, we brought in, I think, I don’t know if we even brought in more mentors. We just, everything’s just a little bit extra in season two as far as we know what worked here. So, let’s dial it up a notch. And I enjoyed watching that happen.

JAMIE RUBY:   For both of you, what made you want to be a part of it? We’ll just go Drake, then Marcus.

DRAKE:   Yeah, I would say what made me want to be a part of this is just really how wholesome Hallmark is. Like whenever I think Hallmark, I think Christmas. And I think that like, it’s in the background whenever we’re in Christmas, I just think of, you know, my mom making cookies and it’s in the background playing. It’s just like a happy memory of childhood. So, when I heard that Hallmark was interested, I’m like, “Absolutely, let’s do this. I’m so in, so excited to take on this role.”

MARCUS:   And for me, when I first heard about the show, me and my girlfriend started watching the first season, and we were just, we were hooked. Like after the first episode, we were like, “Do you want to watch another one?” They’re like, “Yeah.” And we ended up binge watching like four or five episodes in a row. So, I knew. I was like, “Okay, this is something I probably want to do.” And my girlfriend really pushed me, like, this is going to be a great opportunity to see how much you’ve grown, seen how much you’ve learned and see what you can learn from the other people on the show, the other judges, other guys. And I learned so much. So, it was great to be able to be on the show.

JAMIE RUBY:   Marcus, other than watching the show, what else did you do to prepare? Is there anything you can think of?

MARCUS:   Oh man, I didn’t do much to prepare. I just really wanted to come into the show with an open mind, be ready to learn, ready to see how much I’ve grown, ready to open up about myself. And it took a lot for me to get to the point where I could just open up about myself and be myself. I feel like I kind of got to that point, and within a couple of days, like us guys, we’ve got so close. So, it made it easier to open up about myself because of how close and how much the other guys were opening up.

JAMIE RUBY:   All right. Drake, what about you? Did you watch season one, and what did you do to prepare?

DRAKE:   Yep. So, I watched all of season one, and that’s what I was hoping was my preparation. Little did I know they were about to crank up the heat, and then competitions were way, way more intense. So, pretty much watching that was a big deal. I also didn’t have any experience in actually speaking lines, so I was like in front of my camera trying to practice with my brother, trying to go back and forth and get a little more experience before this, because I knew this was going to be a pretty big jump and from my experience to, you know, being on TV.

MELISSA PETERMAN:   See, that’s what I love about this show is that we’ve got guys that [are] from all different like levels and experience of acting and the reality is anyone could win, because if you’ve got that it factor, you know, you can teach them that other stuff, because otherwise, someone can take all the classes in the world, but if they don’t have that sort of special equality that doesn’t really matter. So, I love that there’s people from all different levels of acting experience.

JAMIE RUBY:   That leads me into my next question. I was going to ask you, do you find yourself though trying to give them acting advice since you’ve been doing it a while, or do you feel like you have to restrain yourself somewhat since you’re a judge?

MELISSA PETERMAN:   I’ve never restrained myself in anything whether it’s a buffet or being a judge. No, I think my job is to tell them stuff. I may not always be right. I can only speak from my experience as someone who’s auditioned a million times and worked with different people. So, I can only tell them, I think I’m supposed to tell them what I know, and I really took that seriously, because they’re going to hear no a lot. Actors are going to hear no. You’re going to be asked to get up the next day and go back in a room and maybe hear no again, and you have to really want it.

And what I loved about the show, is just like in real life, they’re going to be competing for jobs against friends or people they know, and they’re going to maybe watch their friend get the job, and they don’t. And what I try to say all the time is, “You’re going to need those friends.” If you’re going to be in this business, you’re going to want that support group.

And what I love seeing, is these guys really did create a brotherhood that I think will continue on long after the show is gone. And you [are] going to need that in this business, because I don’t think I would have gotten through my very – anytime in LA or auditioning without having someone I could call and go, “Oh, I had this audition and what do you think?” She’s like, “Oh, I went in on it yesterday, and here’s what I think.” And just to really build a community, because that’s what you really need to succeed, I think.

JAMIE RUBY:   You say that, but for the two of you though, was that hard at all? I mean, you’re friends with each other but you also kind of want to beat each other too. So, how do you balance that?

MARCUS:   It was definitely hard, because we grew so close so quick. Like, having to see anybody go home during that first elimination, it hurt. When we first walked into that first elimination, we all felt it. It hit us, because it was like, wow, this is real. Somebody really has to go home right now.

DRAKE:   Yeah, definitely, the bonds we created so quickly. It reminded me of football. Like, all of us just spend hours together, you know, and then the next thing you know, you’re competing again at some an hour later. That was definitely super tough to kind of balance that, but what was great, is everyone was so supportive. It was one of those things where if you messed up, people were rallying behind you. Like, “Hey, you’ve got this next one.” And that was such a good feeling to just know that these guys had my back, you know?

MELISSA PETERMAN:   I think if even, if any of the guys walked in thinking it was a competition, and I have to come in with my game face, I think the show and the format quickly strips that away. You know, they can come in thinking, “I’m not going to show I’m – game face. They’re not going to get to know me. I’m here to win.” It’s formulated that we really want to get rid of that quickly, and it sort of happens.

MARCUS:   Oh yeah.

JAMIE RUBY:   For the two of you, what did you find more difficult? The first challenges, or, I mean, obviously I’ve only seen the first episode, but the [other kinds of] challenges, or the acting challenges, because I think they both kind of cause other problems.

DRAKE:   Yeah, I would say that the first challenges felt like less pressure, because like, you’re just getting that advantage and stuff, but then the acting challenges, that’s when you had to lock in. You’re like, “This is the part where I really need to focus.” So, I felt like a little bit less pressure from the challenges, even though it was fun and it was intense, it felt like the actual acting challenges when you really had to lock in.

MARCUS:   And I would probably say the opposite. Maybe just because I have a little bit more of a background in acting, but obviously not a ton, but a little bit more, but the first ones were a little bit more about opening up about yourself, and that’s harder for me. It always has been. And the show helped me be able to do that a lot more, but I was a little bit more afraid that I was going to have to talk about myself more, and that’s almost more fearful for me than just acting or, you know, acting in somebody else’s shoes, almost.

MELISSA PETERMAN:   It’s hard. I mean, it’s easy to play, you know, when they give you the words to say. It’s hard to –

MARCUS:   Exactly, but then when you have to talk about yourself, that’s a whole ‘nother level. You have to really be vulnerable and show your real self.

MARCUS:   That’s a good point.

JAMIE RUBY:   I was going to say, Drake, is that something you struggled with?

DRAKE:   Yes. I was going to say for any of the ones where it felt like, you know, you really had to open yourself up, that did feel tough. Like there’s obviously some walls that like, it’s kind of hard to just talk about yourself.nIt’s not a character you’re playing. This is actually you. It’s like when they’re actually learning who is Drake Kiper, like it definitely is a little bit more intense and it’s a lot harder to just open up and say everything, you know, it takes a little bit. It does help though having other guys do it as well. Like, you see these guys that you’re getting close with, and they’re also showing who they are. It makes it much, much easier to share yourself.

JAMIE RUBY:   Melissa, obviously you’re on the other side of that, but is there anything that you found a challenge in this?

MELISSA PETERMAN:   Eliminations. I hated them. I really hated to tell somebody that, you know, it was time; their time was over on the show, because I know what that feels like, and it doesn’t always feel great.

And that was really hard for me, because I was at that point very invested, and still am, in all of them and want them to succeed. So, I did not look forward to eliminations. And I want everyone to know, nobody walked in there without being so serious about it and thinking about it and talking about it. But also, I hope imparting on everybody that this isn’t over. This is just today, and like, that’s the life of an actor. Today is maybe not your day. Tomorrow might be your day. So yeah, eliminations were very difficult.

JAMIE RUBY:   Yeah, I was going to say, I’m sure this will still give everybody more opportunities, regardless of the outcome.

MELISSA PETERMAN:   People are going to watch and fall in love with all of these guys. And somebody is going to see something that, you know, their faces are going to be in front of a lot of people, and that’s the beauty. There’s a lot of – everyone wants something different. Some days, you know, they’re looking for a Drake. Someday they’re looking for a Marcus, and tomorrow they’re looking for a Marcus.bLike that’s what’s the beauty of the business. Things can change in an hour, truly.

MARCUS:   I mean, come on, they’re always looking for a Drake.

DRAKE:   Yes, man, no, don’t be humble.

MARCUS:   And a Melissa, of course.

JAMIE RUBY:   For you two, what was it like for the first time you acted against another Hallmark star?

MELISSA PETERMAN:   Ooh, I want to hear.

MARCUS:   Oh man. Well, acting for the first time with Janelle [Parrish] was amazing. I mean, I remember skiing up and then seeing her and being nervous. But then once she started saying her lines, it like relaxed me, and I was able to kind of fall into the scene. So, you could just tell she was a pro, and it made everything so much more relaxed and easy.

DRAKE:   Yeah, to piggyback off what he said, it was really nice to have such a professional in there to where there’s a lot of crazy things going on with it, and you have to be able to like remember your lines and everything. And I feel like her confidence helped you gain confidence. Like, okay, this is where I’m supposed to be. This is what I’m doing. Like, let’s do it. I feel like that helped, because there’s some crazy elements in the acting scene. It’s not just, you know, two people standing there. We’re skiing, we’re doing – the weather’s crazy. Everything just comes together to become like a more difficult thing.

JAMIE RUBY:   Who else were you guys looking forward to getting to work with during this season?

MARCUS:   That’s a good question. You know, I was really hoping that Jonathan and Melissa would hop in a scene with us and maybe do something crazy.

DRAKE:   That would have been so cool.

MELISSA PETERMAN: I don’t know how much they can spoil it.

[crosstalk]

MARCUS:   I wish we could have done more scenes with Jonathan and Melissa, just because they’re so good at acting.

MELISSA PETERMAN:   Jonathan’s not even sitting here. You can just say Melissa.

MARCUS:   Melissa. I was gonna say Melissa first, because I mean, she’s so quick, so witty, so funny. She brings the best actor out of you. So, I mean, I would have wanted to do everything with Melissa. Of course.

MELISSA PETERMAN:   I’m just gonna give you another lesson right here. When you’re sitting next to the person, say them.

MARCUS:   Yes, say them, Melissa. Put down Jonathan. Got it.

[laughter]

MELISSA PETERMAN:   Not put down, just say. Yeah, I don’t know how much we can, because I know that they, I think people know who we have coming on for mentors, but I’m not sure that they can spoil all of them. But I will say this, that I would tell every contestant, like when you have time with the Janelle Parris or an Ali Sweeney or any of the Chris Palaha, when you’ve got people there, take that time. That’s a gift. You’re getting somebody who’s been working. Ask questions, listen to what they say, watch what they do when they walk on a set, and what they ask a director. And I learned something every day. You’re not done learning ever, ever, ever, ever. Yeah.

JAMIE RUBY:   I know we’re almost out of time, but really quick, what did you two take away the most? What did you learn in particular?

MARCUS:   Just to be yourself and be vulnerable, be willing to open up and just be yourself, because at the end of the day, people are gonna judge you, whether you’re yourself or acting like you’re somebody else. So, you may as well be yourself and be as happy as possible.

DRAKE:   I would say definitely being vulnerable. I mean, just watching these guys open up and you just can develop such a deeper relationship when you actually know the true person. Like, don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid to hide anything, like just be yourself and be vulnerable and you’ll end up making closer friends.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Belle sits at home on her laptop until EJ arrives at the door with flowers, wishing Belle a happy birthday.

Philip and Gabi lay in bed together after having sex. Philip comments on there still being a lot he doesn’t know about her. Gabi responds that she’s an excellent teacher as they resume kissing.

Xander calls Philip asking where he is and why his phone is turned off, reminding him that they are in the process of undoing a major merger with press calling and everyone wanting to know what they are going to do. Xander shouts that he could use some bloody help as Theo arrives and remarks that maybe he could lend a hand.

Paulina joins Abe in the town square and talks about being worn out after her city council meeting. Abe comments on Paulina being fond of giving unsolicited advice, so he thought he’d return the favor.

Sarah checks in with Marlena at the hospital and apologizes for calling her while she’s on leave. Marlena says she’s happy to help, so Sarah asks how Sophia is doing. Marlena responds that she’s not good and confirms Sophia has suffered a complete psychological break. Sarah asks what their next step is. Marlena responds that she has to recommend in-patient therapy. Sarah hates that she added to the pressure that Sophia was feeling by confronting her about her lying. Marlena says it was Sarah’s obligation to make sure her baby was safe. Sarah worries that she came at her pretty hard and talks about being in Sophia’s shoes. Sarah adds that she knew how much Brady and Tate were suffering and she wanted to alleviate that by telling them what she knew. Marlena understands she couldn’t do that. Sarah says keeping one secret to protect another was such a heavy burden.

Belle tells EJ that she can’t stand him and tries to shut the door on him. EJ asks her to just accept the flowers and invite him in. EJ says he’s not trying to worm his way back in to her life and he knows this birthday is bittersweet as the first one since her father passed, so he wanted to bring her some cheer. Belle tells EJ that he didn’t have to bring the flowers themselves. EJ admits it was a chance to come see her. Belle asks if she hasn’t made it clear they are over. EJ swears that he didn’t come to win her back but to discuss a legal matter of great importance to their families.

Paulina asks how long Abe is going to stay mad at her because his son took a job that he disapproves of. Abe argues that it’s not a job, but Theo is CEO of DiMera Enterprises and Paulina encouraged it. Paulina denies that and says she only told him to make his own decisions, but she had no idea the job he meant was CEO. Abe points out that Paulina congratulated Theo and argues that she should’ve told him when it first happened. Paulina says they’ve been over that Theo asked her not to say anything and she didn’t want to betray his trust. Abe remarks that she betrayed his instead.

Xander questions who let Theo in. Theo responds that he works here since this is Titan-DiMera until the merger is officially undone, so as of now they are still colleagues. Xander asks what he wants. Theo says that Tony encouraged him to make himself available to Titan leadership. Xander says they are fine. Theo says it didn’t sound that way when he walked in and gets that he’s stressed as he has a lot of big decisions to make in not a lot of time. Theo says he’d like to help. Xander questions how he could possibly help him. Theo states that he ran a very successful tech business and went through something similar not long ago. Xander argues that running major multi-million dollar corporations are a bit more and suggests he go have Tony explain things to him. Theo suggests they work together to do what they need to do and then go their separate ways with no hard feelings. Xander asks if he’s for real.

Philip sees he has two missed calls from Xander. Gabi says that Xander must be pissed that he’s not at work. Philip responds that it was so worth it as he and Gabi kiss. They lay in bed together and talk about the sex they had. Philip comments that Gabi’s on a roll with all this great sex and she got Gabi Chic back. Philip then questions her sad face when it’s all she ever wanted. Gabi responds that at one point it was, but now she realizes she wants so much more.

Marlena tells Sarah that she will put a call in to Bayview to update them on Sophia’s condition so they can answer any questions her mom might have. Sarah thanks her and encourages her to go home and get some rest. Marlena questions why she thinks she needs rest. Marlena guesses she’s been talking to Belle and knows that she passed out on the night of the blackout. Sarah asks her not to be upset with Belle since they are just worried about her and want to figure out what’s going on with her. Marlena thanks her and says she appreciates the concern but she knows the problem was all in her head.

EJ complains that Sophia needs to pay for what she did, being deceitful and lying, calling her a criminal. Belle asks him to stop screaming while EJ declares that he is outraged. Belle remarks that unlike Sophia, EJ doesn’t have mental health issues. EJ questions if she plans to use the temporary insanity defense. Belle says she’s not discussing this with him. EJ argues that Sophia launched a targeted attack on Johnny and took a sledgehammer to Tate’s life. Belle asks if EJ really wants her to throw the book at Sophia which EJ confirms.

Paulina questions Abe saying she betrayed him when all she did was give Theo a sounding board. Abe argues that Theo came away thinking he can do good things at DiMera. Paulina insists that he can. Abe worries that Theo is in way over his head and that taking the job was a huge mistake. Paulina guesses they have a difference of opinion. Abe says he told Theo that he wishes she kept her opinions to herself. Paulina responds that she’s never been shy about saying what she believes and she thought that was one of the things Abe loved about her. Abe states that it is in most cases, but Theo is his son. Paulina says that’s why he talked to her and that he knew he wanted the job. Abe says that Paulina gave him that permission.

Theo tells Xander that he would like their families to be civil going forward. Xander can’t believe he’s always this earnest and questions a decent person being named CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Theo explains that Tony wants to keep DiMera Enterprises in the family and Tony knows that he values integrity and hard work. Theo adds that he doesn’t want to fight, but he will fight as he plans to make DiMera number one and keep it there. Theo states that some people are happy that he’s CEO while some people are not, like Gabi. Philip and Gabi then arrive as Philip jokes that he can call off the search party and then questions Theo being there. Xander states that Theo was just telling him how upset Gabi was that he was named CEO and asks if she cares to tell them why.

Sarah tells Marlena that passing out is not in her head and something must be causing it. Marlena blames it on still grieving the loss of her husband. Sarah asks Marlena if therapy has helped. Marlena believes she just needs to live her life. Sarah worries that she’s ignoring the problem. Marlena says it’s giving herself time and calls it all a process. Sarah thanks Marlena again for recommending couples counseling, noting that their first session was extremely helpful. Marlena says she will see her tomorrow as Sarah tells her to take care of herself and Marlena exits.

Belle comments on Johnny not knowing that EJ is pushing for this and says Johnny doesn’t want EJ fighting his battles for him, asking when he’s going to learn that it always ends in disaster for him. EJ argues that Sophia’s lies didn’t just jeopardize Johnny’s reputation but may have also cost he and Chanel’s chances at adopting. Belle reminds EJ that he’s the reason their original adoption plans fell through and that Johnny’s life is in chaos along with Tate’s and Chanel’s. Belle declares that she’s the district attorney, not EJ, for a reason and argues that she doesn’t use her position to settle personal scores and she won’t be bullied in to doing so. Belle says she will use the evidence to decide how to move forward. Belle tells EJ that he can’t control the universe or her. Belle thanks EJ for the flowers and tells him goodbye as he then walks out.

Gabi claims she wasn’t upset that Theo was named as CEO, just surprised and a little disappointed that she didn’t get heads up. Gabi decides that Philip and Xander have Titan, she has Gabi Chic, and Theo has DiMera so all is well that ends well and there’s nothing more to say about it. Xander asks why Gabi is here then since she got her company back. Gabi responds that she just had a few loose ends to tie up.

Abe argues to Paulina that Theo is in a vulnerable position after Claire cheated on him and dumped him. Paulina thinks it’s good then that Theo is starting fresh while Abe feels there’s nothing good about him being at DiMera Enterprises. Paulina points out that Theo will be the first black, autistic CEO of a major corporation and people around the world will be watching him. Abe asks what makes her think that Theo can handle that pressure. Paulina questions what makes him think that Theo can’t.

Xander remarks that he loves impromptu gatherings but it’s getting a bit crowded. Gabi offers to walk Theo out so they can talk about the transfer of Gabi Chic, so they exit. Xander comments to Philip that Gabi got her company back after begging them for months and the first thing she does is come back here with Philip. Xander tells Philip to cut the crap and questions what’s going on with them.

Theo asks Gabi what that was all about. Gabi says they can’t talk here as they hurry off together.

Marlena goes home and questions Belle working on her birthday. Belle says she’d be very happy to take a break. Marlena gives her flowers for her birthday and wishes her all the best. Belle thanks her as they hug. Marlena then sees her other flowers and says it seems like someone beat her to it. Marlena asks who they are from, so Belle admits they are from EJ.

Paulina knows Abe is worried about what Theo will face at DiMera, but insists that he can stand up for himself. Paulina talks about how they just found out Theo was bullied all those years by Liam but he fought that battle and won. Paulina encourages Abe to have faith in Theo. Abe argues that the DiMeras are different than school bullies while Paulina argues that they are his family. Abe bets the DiMeras are like vultures circling around now.

Gabi and Theo sit together outside the Pub. Gabi tells Theo that he can’t tell anyone that she though Tony was going to name her as CEO of DiMera because she might have helped Tony out a little. Theo brings up that Gabi planted the bug in Xander’s office. Gabi didn’t realize he told him but asks if they can keep this between them since she and Philip are seeing each other. Theo guesses that if Philip finds out that she spied on he and Xander, it might end their relationship before it even starts. Gabi hopes Theo knows that she sincerely apologizes for implying he couldn’t handle being CEO because he’s autistic as she was angry and didn’t mean it. Gabi adds that she knows what it’s like to be discriminated against in the business world, so she’s truly sorry. Theo tells her that she’s lucky that he’s not as vindictive as some other members of his family. Gabi asks if Theo will keep her secret. Theo responds that he will and wishes her luck with Gabi Chic and Philip. Gabi thanks him and wishes him luck with DiMera as she feels he will need it. Gabi then gets up and walks away.

Philip comments that he can’t get anything past Xander. Xander says he’s been more observant where he’s concerned. Philip admits that there’s been an attraction between he and Gabi for awhile which they resisted because she was working for him, but now she’s not anymore so they are seeing where things go. Philip asks if that’s a problem. Xander asks why it would be. Philip says awhile ago, he thought maybe Xander and Gabi might be something. Xander assures that he’s working on his marriage with Sarah and doesn’t want anybody else. Xander thanks Philip again for covering for him because if Sarah found out that he beat him up, she’d never want anything to do with him again. Philip says he doesn’t need to keep thanking him as that’s in the past and they are moving on. Xander admits he feels so guilty and brings up Sarah apologizing for even thinking he was guilty, it gives him a massive urge to come clean. Philip encourages Xander not to give in to that urge, reminding him that they are the only ones who know the truth and tells him to focus on fixing his marriage. Xander says he has to get going to meet Sarah for lunch. Xander tells Philip that he and Gabi do look good together, which makes Philip happy as Xander then exits the office.

Marlena questions EJ sending Belle flowers and asks if she should be worried. Belle calls it a typical EJ move to use her birthday to get in the door and then reveal the real reason he came was to ask her to prosecute Sophia, so she threw him out. Marlena says that’s good and mentions just seeing Sophia at the hospital. Belle asks how she is doing. Marlena says it may be awhile before they have any answers. Marlena adds that it reminds her of when Sami was pregnant with Will as a teenager. Belle remarks that Sami may have been destructive, but also incredibly strong. Marlena encourages that Belle is too. Belle credits Marlena as being her role model. Marlena brings up that Sarah mentioned Belle was asking about her health. Belle apologizes for going behind her back but says she heard about what happened in the blackout. Marlena says there’s nothing to worry about while Belle argues that she passed out for a second time and didn’t tell anyone. Belle says that’s not okay as she needs Marlena to be okay and to stick around for a very long time as they hug.

Sarah joins Xander in his room where Xander gives her a massage.

Gabi returns to the Titan office and tells Philip that everything is cool with Theo. Philip says he knows the corporate stuff can get messy. Gabi assures that she and Theo are definitely on the same page.

Theo goes to the DiMera Mansion and asks EJ if Tony is around. EJ says he just stepped out and offers Theo a drink to congratulate him. Theo responds that he would be up for a game of chess. EJ says it’s been awhile. Theo says he’s learned a few new tricks since they last played. EJ says he has too.

Paulina encourages Abe that Theo can outsmart all the DiMeras put together. Abe argues that this isn’t about Theo’s intelligence or his business acumen. Abe complains that the issue is that Paulina gave Theo advice that she knows he never would. Abe asks what she would think if he did that to Chanel.

Marlena promises Belle that she’s not going to lose her. Marlena says she’s fine and was just a little under the weather. Marlena adds that Sarah is taking care of her and there’s nothing to worry about. Marlena suggests they knock off work for the day and enjoy a Jason Bourne movie together which Belle says she would love.

Philip invites Gabi to have dinner with him as he’d like to take her on a proper date. Gabi jokes that her last proper date cost her 15 grand. Philip recalls being there and says they don’t have to revisit that. Gabi assures that her date with Alex was strictly platonic and just to make JJ jealous as Alex is with Stephanie. Philip points out that his last date was also with Stephanie. Gabi jokes about the small dating pool in Salem. Philip says that Alex and Stephanie can have each other as he’d say they both traded up. Philip and Gabi then kiss.

Paulina tells Abe that she would trust that he was coming from a good place and that she didn’t mean to hurt him. Paulina is sorry that he’s so angry. Abe argues that she’s not sorry for what she did. Paulina says she did what she thought was right. Abe tells her that she is wrong.

EJ and Theo play chess. EJ asks how it’s going at DiMera. Theo responds that he hasn’t really started yet. EJ says he’s always around if he needs any advice. Theo thanks him but says he’ll be fine. Theo adds that Tony told him that EJ has no interest in running the company. EJ confirms that he has his hands full with the hospital and he’s enjoying the new challenge. Theo says Chad is too with the newspaper. EJ says they are both quite sure their father’s legacy is safe in Theo’s very capable hands. EJ tells Theo that it appears they have reached a stalemate in their chess game.

Sarah tells Xander that she was thinking they could sleep under the same roof more often so Victoria isn’t shuttled back and forth. Xander asks if she’s asking him to move back in to the Kiriakis Mansion. Sarah clarifies that he’d be in a guest room while they work on their marriage. Xander responds that he’d happily make any move that gets him closer to her and Victoria. Xander thanks Sarah for giving them a chance. Sarah says everything is out in the open now with no more secrets and lies, so she really thinks they can rebuild the trust between them and put their family back together as they hug.
