Tucker: So, what’s your strategy? Well, what are you gonna do? How you gonna push diane over the edge, phyllis?

Phyllis: What?

[ Phyllis laughing nervously ]

[ Both chuckling ] Are you kidding? Really? Slow down and keep your voice lower.

Tucker: Are you gonna go for, like, sincere and contrite, which knowing you, it’s gonna be difficult to pull off convincingly.

Phyllis: Well, I find that to be incredibly rude.

Tucker: You beg for mercy? Or do you already have a grander plan of attack in mind?

Phyllis: I told you I’d take care of it. I will.

Tucker: You know what I would do? I would win jack and kyle back to your side. That is the surest way to make diane self-destruct. Jack and kyle. They are the key.

Diane: Good morning.

Ashley: And to you.

Diane: Nice jeans.

Ashley: Nice, um, shoes. Mrs. Martinez made muffins. Fresh out the oven if you want one in the kitchen.

Diane: Well, that’s very kind of you to let me know.

Ashley: Of course. Busy day?

Diane: It is. And– and you?

Ashley: I think it’s gonna be a really good day.

Diane: Is it?

Ashley: Mm-hmm. Did you hear the news?

Diane: Well, I’ve heard a lot of news. Um, let’s see, there’s a city council election coming up. A sale at fenmore’S. Oh. Oh, that’s right. There’s a possible thunderstorm moving in.

Ashley: Actually, the biggest storm of all has already landed. Well, phyllis is back. I’m sure you heard.

Diane: I’m sure the authorities will know how to handle her.

[ Ashley laughing ]

Ashley: Well, they can try. From what I understand, she’s not gonna face any real prison time possibly. I mean, doesn’t that just piss you off considering what she did to you? Doesn’t it make your blood boil?

Tucker: You remember when jack and kyle forgave diane? And all your, uh, rending of garments and gnashing of teeth until you went for your ultimate payback?

Phyllis: I do remember.

Tucker: So, I’m going for kind of a symmetry here. Only this time, you walk away scot-free and jack forgives you. And this time, it’s diane’s head that explodes.

Phyllis: Um, all right.

[ Phyllis sighing ] Give– give me a second to work this out, okay? I just made bail a couple of hours ago. I need some time to, you know, lay the groundwork.

Tucker: It’s fine. Just keep in mind how much you owe me. ‘Cause I– I brought carson here at great personal expense and he is your salvation.

Phyllis: I’m not gonna cop out on you, tucker. I know what I’m supposed to do. I mean, how strange would it look if I was already focusing on making things right with kyle and jack before trying to heal things with my own children.

Tucker: Yeah, that’s a fair point. Plus, engaging summer in all this would help.

Phyllis: Oh, no. Under no circumstances are we using my daughter in this. You didn’t live this strong,

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Tucker: Who said anything about using summer?

Phyllis: That’s what you meant.

Tucker: No, no, no. I just meant that she is the smartest conduit to winning kyle over. If you’re able to get kyle and summer back together, that would go a long way in achieving jack’s forgiveness.

Phyllis: My daughter’s been through so much. We’re not using her as a pawn in this scheme.

Tucker: You can approach it any way you want. I just need to know I can count on you.

Phyllis: You can count on me. I already said that. I’m not gonna back down. Good.

Tucker: ‘Cause this carson guy, man, he is unpredictable. I don’t know what he’s gonna do. Really. He could cold feet last minute, disappear right before the trial and you really need him there to prove that you killed stark in self-defense. And we both know that christine williams wants to watch you burn.

Phyllis: Well, carson already gave his statement to the police.

Tucker: I could invalidate that official statement in a heartbeat. Want to watch me?

Diane: I am well aware of phyllis’s return. She turned herself in and was arrested. It really doesn’t concern me.

Ashley: Hm. Did you know that she already had her arraignment and she was granted bail? True story. And she doesn’t even have to wear an ankle monitor like you know who did. Yeah, she can go anywhere she wants. Seems kind of unfair to me.

Diane: Well, I’m sure the judge did what they thought was best.

Ashley: I can just see her right now, traipsing all around town, going to all of her old haunts, telling everybody how she was justified in framing you for murder. She could probably even show up here, begging jack and kyle for forgiveness.

Diane: I highly doubt that will happen.

Ashley: I’m not so sure. I’m really not. She’s very brazen, right? Honestly, I don’t think she’s gonna face any real punishment and– no, seriously, I don’t, even if this does go to trial.

Diane: Ashley, she killed a man. And the list goes on. I’m sure christine will take that very seriously.

Ashley: You know, diane, I wouldn’t blame you for anything you might do. I mean, phyllis’s actions really hurt jack and kyle, deeply.

[ Diane scoffing ]

Diane: I’ll be fine. Don’t you worry about me.

Ashley: Oh, right. Because of all that therapy you had. But tell me, just between us, did it actually work for you? Because I heard the last time that you were alone with phyllis, I mean, you actually had your– your hands wrapped around her neck? You were trying to strangle the very life out of her. And that was before she framed you for murder.

Diane: The fact that phyllis turned herself in shows a certain remorse to me. She knows what she did was wrong.

Ashley: Or she knew she was about to get caught anyway.

Diane: And however light or severe her sentence is, that up to the courts, you know? What can I do except live and let live?

Ashley: You’re not very good at that, though.

Diane: Oh, I– I think I am. I’ve– I learnt a lot, you know? I’m gonna focus on my own life and all the love that fills it. You know what, ashley? I bet you would be a whole lot happier if you could do the same.

Ashley: Yeah?

Diane: Mm-hmm.

Ashley: Enlighten me.

Diane: Okay. Why don’t you try forgetting about me and moving on?

Ashley: Wow.

Diane: Focus on the good in your own life.

Ashley: I would love to forget about you, diane. It’s just a little difficult. I mean, here you are. You’re everywhere. You’re in my home, you’re in my head, so.

Diane: All right. [ Scoffs ] You know what? I am not a fan of tucker’s by any stretch, but that poor guy really does love you. Maybe you shouldn’t take that for granted because what you have can be all too fleeting.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] You know, you talk a good game, you always have. But I think when you’re face-to-face with phyllis up close and personal, it’s gonna be a much different story.

Diane: I’ll keep that in mind. You know what? I have somewhere to be. Save a muffin for me, will you?

[ Ashley laughing ]

[ Door shutting ]

Tucker: What I paid carson?

[ Exhales ] A pretty penny. All I’d have to do to get him to change his story back, add a couple of zeros.

Phyllis: I get it. You’re pulling the strings. I get it.

Tucker: Can you imagine what your dear friend, D.A. Christine williams, would– would think if she learnt that your witness had been bribed?

Phyllis: If you call yourself out, you’re just incriminating yourself.

Tucker: That’s nothing I can’t handle. You, on the other hand.

Phyllis: Listen, um, I understand what you asked me, and, um, I’m doing it, I’m not gonna get on your bad side. I mean, what good would that do me, right, tucker?

Tucker: Right.

Phyllis: But I want to make perfectly clear to you that my daughter will not play a part in any of this. All right? Thank you. I got this, be patient. I mean, go with your monks up to a hilltop or something and chant, “phyllis has got this. Phyllis has got this.”

[ Phyllis chuckling ]

Tucker: Well, you know me, I can be zen or I can be ruthless. And it’s your call.

Phyllis: I understand my position in this and my part in the bigger picture, okay? And by the way, I’d like to know about your plan to bring jabot down.

Tucker: Actually, no. You’ve got all the information you need now, phyllis. Just concentrate on diane, finish the job.

Phyllis: I’ll take care of diane.

[ Tucker gasping ]

Tucker: Shh, shh, shh. (Wheezing)

Ashley: Hey, brian. How’s everything in the big apple? Sure, I have a minute. What’s up? Jack did what?

Tucker: Sweet mystery of life. All right, ladies, let’s lay some ground rules. Biting, scratching, hair pulling, those are all legal.

Diane: Nice try, tucker, but I’m not going to give you the satisfaction of a cat fight.

Tucker: Hmm. All right, you– you take the first shot.

Diane: You know, I don’t– I don’t think any– any shots are needed.

[ Diane sighing ] Welcome home. You’re looking fabulous.

Phyllis: Thank you very much, diane.

Diane: Yeah. When I first found out what you did, I was furious, but not surprised. You know, the truth is that you and I were victims of similar circumstances. We both fell prey to jeremy stark. And he had the power to make people sink to their absolute lowest level and make the absolute worst decisions.

Phyllis: Well, that is true.

Diane: Yeah. I know the fear a man like that can– can put in you, because I– I lived it.

[ Diane chuckling ] So, for that reason, I’m not gunning for you, phyllis. I am ready and willing just to move on.

Billy: Hey.

Ashley: Hi.

Billy: How are you?

Ashley: You know, good. Nice to see you.

Billy: You too. Well, you seem chipper.

Ashley: I’m happy to touch base with my brother, that’s all. I’m sure you’ve heard about phyllis’s shocking return.

Billy: Yeah, I saw the news alert that she’d been arrested and I’m just glad she came back to face the music.

Ashley: Right. And jack told you about kyle and summer, right? They’re not doing that well obviously. They separated and summer’s moved out sadly.

Billy: Yeah, I heard about that. I was sorry to hear that.

Ashley: Yeah.

Billy: I hope they work it out, you know? They both deserve to be happy.

Ashley: Yeah. They’ve been through so much. We’ve all been through so much, right, billy?

Billy: You know I love a good family catch up, ash, but what’s going on here? Why– why am I here?

[ Phyllis sighing ]

Phyllis: Are you for real?

Diane: Yes. I– I can understand that you would, um, have some skepticism, and of course, you would be wary of my sincerity. I mean, I know would be if the roles were reversed and others wouldn’t be as generous.

Tucker: I think phyllis should absolutely be wary.

Diane: Back off, tucker.

Phyllis: This is not your business.

Tucker: You did send her to prison, where she could’ve spent the rest of her life, hm? That’s not something you just shrug your shoulders about and say, “ah, bygones.”

Diane: And yet, that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Tucker: Would you stop wasting time. Tell her how you feel! (Vo)no matter who you are…

[ Tucker sighing ]

Tucker: Diane, wouldn’t you like to just punch her in the face?

Diane: Stay out of this, tucker. You know, I bet you and ashley would love to have phyllis as an ally in the war against me, but I’m guessing you have more pressing problems to deal with right now. Ones that don’t include hating me.

Phyllis: I– I don’t know what you’re referring to.

Diane: Oh, well, you have to deal with the consequences of your actions in court. That must be nerve-wracking.

Phyllis: Hey, I want to say thank you, seriously, for your compassion, your empathy, your care toward me. It’s so appreciated.

Diane: You’re welcome.

Tucker: Really, phyllis? That’s the best you got?

Phyllis: Yeah, it is the best I have for now. Well, I am going to go. Have a great day.

Diane: See? Truce.

Tucker: That was an absolutely brilliant performance, diane. Brava.

Diane: Thank you.

Ashley: Can’t a girl even invite her own brother over so she can see him? Are things that horrible between us?

Billy: Oh, lordy. No, they’re not. But this does seem a little bit out of the blue.

Ashley: Yeah, well, I mean, I would have come by the office, but I thought I probably wouldn’t be too welcome there.

Billy: You blame us?

Ashley: I’m sorry things are so strained.

Billy: Yeah, believe me, so am I. I mean, I meant what I said when I hoped that you and jack would put all this tension behind you, but now, seems like that door has been shut.

Ashley: I don’t like it that people see me as the enemy in my father’s own company when the real enemy is living upstairs with jack.

Billy: It’s ironic you can say that with a straight face.

Ashley: I know you don’t trust tucker, but guess what? He’s not the one who’s keeping secrets around here, billy. What’s up with jack? He snuck off to new york. What’s that about?

Tucker: Yes, ma’am. That was truly masterful.

Diane: You know, you might not have realized this yet, but I really don’t care what you think.

Tucker: You know what I love most? Under all that false civility was, um, kind of a subtext of hatred.

[ Diane scoffing ]

Diane: Um, why were you and phyllis even together in the first place?

Tucker: Um, I’m going to have to give phyllis the first round. Because this whole benevolence act you got going, that’s going to backfire on you. She’s going to walk away from her charges scot-free. Yeah, you went down hard today. Without a single punch.

Diane: Go to hell, tucker.

Tucker: I’ve been there. It’s overrated.

[ Diane sighing ]

Phyllis: But that’s mine. Credit card statement that I overspent at fenmore’S.

Christine: A rental car charge.

Phyllis: Oh, I’m so bad for renting a car.

Christine: On the day that paul and I were supposed to get married. Instead, we ended up in the hospital.

Phyllis: Yeah, because somebody hit– oh, my god. You’re not insinuating that–

Christine: No one thought of you back then because nothing connected you to the crime. It was just safe to assume that it was someone paul or i had crossed in our work.

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah, someone with a motive.

Christine: You had a motive.

Phyllis: Excuse me. I had a motive to stop you from marrying paul? That would have kept you away from danny. Hell, I would have walked you down the aisle myself.

Christine: And I don’t doubt that unless you saw danny kiss me and tell me that he’d always loved me.

Phyllis: Danny kissed you?

Christine: Yeah, and you felt threatened, and you would have done anything to get me out of the way.

Phyllis: Christine, if I tried to run over every woman who’s tried to kiss one of my husbands–

Christine: You knew danny didn’t love you and you couldn’t stand our connection because you couldn’t control it and you couldn’t end it.

Phyllis: Excuse me. I think you’re living in the past. I’ve moved on. I’m married to nick now, okay? Unlike you, who’s still living in the past. Hooking up with danny and then running to paul’s side.

Christine: No. You’re really angry.

Phyllis: I’m so sorry that I stole danny from you. I really am. But honestly, I have to say this, it’s completely pathetic. Pathetic that you’re still thinking of yesterday and how I kissed danny and took danny away from you and accusing me of trying to murder you and paul because of some little piece of paper.

Christine: Yeah, a little piece of paper. And your insane jealousy and your lies about your son’s paternity and you’re obsession with danny.

Phyllis: That’s over.

Christine: You went to crazy lengths to keep danny, but I never thought you were capable of murder

Phyllis: I’m not.

Christine: And every time I have seen you since then, I’ve been looking into the face of a woman who tried to kill me and almost did. You better be prepared to say goodbye to life as you know it because it’s over.

[ Christine sighing ] Christine williams. Yes, I am aware of the media coverage of phyllis’s arrest. And– and yes, I was at her arraignment this morning. Look, this isn’t first case I have tried with this much public interest. I can guarantee you, I have everything under control.

If you have this…

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Billy: Jack didn’t inform me about his trip to new york. But it’s not a big deal, jabot has business in new york, so I would just ease up on your conspiracy theories.

Ashley: Oh, you didn’t know? I find it hard to believe that the co-ceo doesn’t know what out-of-town business his partner is up to.

Billy: Believe me, ashley, I find a lot of things hard to believe nowadays, like our conversation we had when you said that you were going to let go of this war and you were gonna move towards a more a “benign and positive” plan.

Ashley: Yeah, well, I think forming a company with tucker is definitely a– a more benign alternative than shredding jabot and my family. And I think it’s a very positive development, actually.

Billy: I guess, it depends on what you plan on taking with you when you leave jabot. The patents? Your former company? All of the above?

Ashley: Yeah, many decisions yet to be made, billy.

Billy: That’s right, many decisions. Look, I think it’s important that you know that jack sees this as a threat to jabot. Any aggressive move, we will respond in kind.

Ashley: I wouldn’t expect anything less. Anything I need to worry about?

Billy: Nothing I’m gonna talk about. Anything you wanna warn me about?

Ashley: Nope.

Billy: Fantastic conversation, sis. Really good to see you. Sure I’ll see you soon.

Ashley: Mm-hmm. There’s homemade muffins in the kitchen.

Billy: No, thank you.

Tucker: Oh, hey, billy.

Billy: Yeah, I’m never gonna get used to you having a key to this house.

Tucker: Oh, well, nice to see you too.

Billy: Enjoy the rest of your day.

Tucker: I smell tension. What did I miss?

Ashley: Trouble.

Christine: Yeah, I’m gonna have to call you back, okay. Well, look who’s already out and about.

Phyllis: You don’t need to end your call on my account. I’m not spying on you, christine. I’m just checking in.

Christine: Must be nice to be able to check in under your real name again, not have to sneak in through a back alley.

Phyllis: You know, I’m just gonna just cut to the chase. I assume you don’t believe my defense and you’re gonna do everything in your power to ensure that I go to prison for the rest of my life, right?

Christine: I hope you’re not implying that I’m gonna bend the law because of some personal vendetta. That’s your area of expertise, not mine. I’m going to prosecute this case honestly and fairly.

Phyllis: And enjoy every minute of it.

Tucker: I don’t think billy is trouble for anyone but himself.

Ashley: Don’t underestimate my little brother. He was working me as hard as I was working him.

Tucker: What were you trying to find out?

Ashley: I got a call from a colleague. We go way back, he’s loyal to me. He said that jack was in new york meeting with a board member and attorneys.

Tucker: Ah, taking steps to protect the mothership.

Ashley: Yes, he wants to take legal action, obviously, by trying to counter my move to take back what’s mine.

Tucker: Yeah, well, we did expect some kind of counterattack, didn’t we?

Ashley: So, are we organized? Because we’re gonna have to act quickly.

Tucker: Yeah, in fact, I took a look at the contracts from when you merged your company with jabot and I found a few loopholes. We just need to prove cause.

Ashley: Great.

Tucker: Yeah.

Ashley: So, you have some ideas on how to make that happen?

Tucker: I have a couple of shark toothed lawyers I can put on it.

Ashley: Good.

Tucker: So, how about we switch topics to something a little more important, a little more urgent?

Ashley: What could that be?

Tucker: Our wedding. We did tell the family the sooner the better, did we not? Type 2 diabetes?

Ashley: I really don’t think now is the time to be having this conversation.

Tucker: Why not?

Ashley: Because I’ve got too much going on, tucker. I can’t plan a wedding at the same time as I’m separating from my father’s company and fighting with jack–

Tucker: I thought we’ve discussed this. What better way to separate from your father’s company than throw our wedding in jack’s face?

Ashley: We have something else that we need to deal with. I was trying to get diane riled up earlier, remember what we said about throwing phyllis in her face to keep her off the game?

Tucker: And?

Ashley: She barely blinked.

Tucker: Ah, yeah. Sadly, I had a similar experience. Diane and phyllis have already met. I had a front row seat.

Ashley: And?

Tucker: And the showdown was painfully underwhelming.

Ashley: Details please.

Tucker: Diane was calm and reasonable.

Ashley: Exactly how she was with me.

Tucker: Right? Which really threw phyllis for a loop. Then, she recovered nicely and– and responded with gratitude. They really seemed to bond over their collective trauma from dealing with stark. It got to the point where I thought they were gonna hug it out.

Ashley: Okay, now, you’re just being mean.

Tucker: I wouldn’t really worry about it because it all seemed like one big performance. I mean, in what universe is diane and phyllis civil to each other? I think it was just smoke and mirrors.

Ashley: So, what does that mean? Do we not trust phyllis now?

Tucker: No, no, no. She knows I hold the key to her freedom. She’s not going to risk losing that.

Ashley: Right. Because everything is riding on the witness you found. She’d be foolish not to cooperate.

Tucker: I actually think it was pretty smart on phyllis’ part to play along with diane. She knows her best bet is to win forgiveness from jack and kyle. Attacking diane hinders that.

Ashley: Good point. It’s going to be difficult enough as it is.

Tucker: So, let’s just give her time. She’ll come through. In the meantime… let’s talk about the wedding.

Ashley: Okay.

Tucker: What are your thoughts about catering, the flowers? Are we gonna get a dj or a band?

Ashley: I wasn’t kidding when I said I don’t wanna talk about this, please. I’m just too distracted. I’m going to battle with jack, okay? I can’t deal with all of this right now.

Tucker: I’m not buying this. What– wha– I thought the big party, the– the ceremony, the extravaganza we planned, all fit into our plan to throw jack off balance.

Ashley: Well, maybe, that’s the whole point. Maybe, I don’t wanna use our wedding as a weapon anymore.

Tucker: So, you’re saying that marrying me for real has become more important to you?

Phyllis: Why didn’t you stay dead? Why? Why are you not dead?

[ Diane laughing ] I’ll tell you why. Because you are erased from our memory. Erased. We forgot about you. You didn’t matter to us. See, you don’t matter. And that killed you. So, you had to come back and take everything that was mine.

Diane: I wasn’t thinking about you at all.

Phyllis: You were thinking about me all the time. I am the only one who sees through your act. And I am the only one who will continue to see through everything that you do. I don’t buy these fake tears and this reformed act, it is a lie. And you are terrified that I am gonna expose your latest con, aren’t you? Terrified of me.

[ Diane scoffing ] And you should be terrified of me.

Diane: You know, jack and I are sick to death of your pathetic attempts to paint yourself as the hero or the victim, when you’re clearly, the villain. The only way you can elevate yourself is by dragging everyone else down and it is a disgusting, despicable compulsion. Your family is embarrassed by you. And your friends, look around, look around, where are they? You have used up every last bit of patience and goodwill that they had for you, and now, you’re alone. You did this! You drove everyone away! You are the reason that your life is such a dismal failure! And if you can’t get out of your own way, then just get the hell out of mine.

Phyllis: No, you’re not going anywhere.

[ Grunts ] Oh, god. You bitch. Bring it, bring it, bring it!

[ Phyllis screaming ]

Diane: I should do the world a favor and strangle you to death!

[ Diane sighing ]

[ Phone chiming ]

[ Diane sighing ]

Billy: Long day already?

Diane: Uh, it sounds about accurate.

Billy: Phyllis’s release.

Diane: Yeah, it’s, uh– it’s a lot to take in, but I got it under control.

Billy: That’s good, I’m glad to hear that because we have bigger problems.

Diane: What now?

Billy: Ashley found out about jack’s trip to new york. She’s suspicious. She was asking me if I know anything.

Diane: Well, I’m sure that was inevitable. What did you tell her?

Billy: I didn’t– I didn’t give away anything, of course, and I told her that if she and tucker strike, then we will strike back.

Diane: Good.

Billy: Look, I need to know if you’re serious about not stepping down from jabot because if you’re not, then we may very well need your help.

Diane: I’m not going anywhere and I will do whatever it takes. I am officially about to become an abbott soon and no one is going to hurt our family company without a fight.

Phyllis: No, no, christine, you’re not going to allow ancient history to cloud your professional opinion, are you?

Christine: Getting run over by a car tends to stick with you. Not to mention the numerous other ways you’ve disregarded the rules of common decency over the years to get what you want.

Phyllis: Come on, you’ve never used the justice system to support your personal grievances, have you?

Christine: The law doesn’t ignore prior infractions. That’s not how the system works.

Phyllis: Of course not.

Christine: Look, I have followed the evidence throughout this entire case, back from when I was prosecuting your supposed murder and I decided to put aside all issues with you to seek justice for your kids, only to find out that you’ve been playing on people’s emotions and wasting their time and energy and resources and for what? To satisfy some petty revenge?

Phyllis: It wasn’t petty revenge. It’s not that simple. I was in stark’s grasp.

Christine: I am gonna continue to follow the evidence and I’m just gonna let results dictate the outcome of your fate.

Phyllis: Well, the evidence is gonna show that I killed a man in self-defense.

Christine: Your evidence boils down to one man’s testimony, a man who’s already claimed that you died in that ambulance fire. So, if he’s to be believed now, that means he’s already lied at least once to authorities.

Phyllis: He lied because he was terrified as well. You don’t know stark. Stark was monster.

Christine: You know, we shouldn’t even be having this conversation.

Phyllis: No, we shouldn’T. I have other things to do.

Christine: You know, I am curious about one more thing.

Phyllis: What is that?

Christine: Since it took you weeks to decide to come forward, you must have thought through what you’d be facing.

Phyllis: Yes, I have.

Christine: Unless there’s something more that you’re not admitting to. Do you have something else you wanna confess? For people who are a little intense about hydration.

Tucker: Hey, hold on, hold on. Give me that thing.

Ashley: What?

Tucker: I want you to give it to me straight. Have your feelings about our marriage changed? Because yesterday, you couldn’t even admit that you were in love with me.

Ashley: True. Um… yeah.

Tucker: Yeah what?

Ashley: I think, you know, getting married to you for real is– is more important to me now than it was at one time. Because I think that I am… falling in love with you.

Tucker: Really?

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

[ Tucker laughing ]

Tucker: I can’t tell if you’re being sincere or this is just some clever dodge.

Ashley: No, it’s not a dodge. I just don’t wanna, you know, trivialize our wedding because then it might karmically trivialize what we have and I don’t want to do that.

Tucker: Did you just reference karma?

Ashley: I did.

Tucker: I see, as a way to slow things down a bit and make them more real.

Ashley: Yeah. You know, you don’t wanna mess with the universe, right? It would mess with us and we don’t want bad luck. We want good vibes only.

Tucker: Good vibes. Good vibes, indeed. [ Laughing ]

Ashley: Why are you laughing?

Tucker: I just, um– if this is legit, I– I couldn’t be happier.

Ashley: Yeah.

Phyllis: I’m sorry, I don’t seem to understand what you’re implying.

Christine: You’re telling me you decided to come out of hiding out of the goodness of your heart?

Phyllis: Yeah, it was my conscience that made me turn myself in.

Christine: You know, forgive me for questioning the idea that you actually have a conscience.

Phyllis: You don’t know what it was like. I was in the hands of a madman.

Christine: You did marry jeremy stark.

Phyllis: Because I was coerced, he brainwashed me. I didn’t know where to turn and my kids were suffering, so I knew I couldn’t run. I had to come back here because my kids needed me. And I needed them.

Christine: Well, maybe, you should’ve realized that before you started this whole thing.

Phyllis: Listen, I know it was a big risk to come back, but despite that, I still maintain my faith in the justice system, even though you still seem to hate me.

Christine: Despite that it took a while, I appreciate that you did the right thing. And even though you seem genuine, I’ve learned the hard way that things are never that simple where you’re concerned.

Phyllis: Well, this isn’t as cut and dry as you’re making it.

Christine: I agree with you. I don’t think you would have ever come back here unless you had the strong belief that you felt safe. That you could somehow exonerate yourself.

Phyllis: Justice is on my side.

Christine: Is it? Because something feels off here. And I am determined to find out what. I’ll see you in court.
