Recap written by Suzanne

After hearing Finn tell Hope that she deserves better than him, Thomas tries to convince Finn that he’s not a bad person, but Finn doesn’t believe him.

Poppy stops by to see Luna, who’s happy to hear that her date with Bill went well. Luna gets a text that she thinks is from RJ, asking her to meet him in the salon. She borrows a Forrester dress from someone name Angela. Poppy can tell how much Luna loves RJ, so Luna gushes about how great he is.

RJ tries to get Zende to work with him and Ridge on Eric’s collection, but Zende accuses RJ of being the golden boy. He says RJ doesn’t have the experience or training to be getting such great design opportunities over him. RJ gives up after it’s clear that he’s not getting anywhere with Zende. He goes to visit Eric, who’s not in his room because he’s having tests. The nurse tells him that Eric is getting better every day.

Meanwhile, Luna goes to the salon and is stunned to find that Zende is there and has set up a romantic dinner for them.

Steffy keeps hearing her earlier argument with Finn in her head about how he thinks Thomas is dangerous. Thomas drops by to see her. He tells her about his run-in with Finn and asks her not to let Finn intefere with his relationship with Hope.

Meanwhile, Xander goes to see Finn again and tells him that, while he can’t prove it, he’s convinced that Thomas ran Emma off the road.

Recap written by Suzanne

Finn keeps telling Hope about how Xander accused Thomas of murdering Emma, and why he’s so concerned about her dating Thomas. She tells Finn that the police cleared Thomas of any wrongdoing. Finn explains to Hope how amazing she is and why he thinks that she can do way better than Thomas.

Meanwhile, Steffy fills Thomas in on what Xander said, as well. He thanks her for sticking up for him with Finn. They wonder why Xander is bringing all this up now. Thomas vows that no one will get in the way of his relationship with Hope.

Thomas goes to Finn’s office and hears part of his conversation with Hope. He then talks to Finn about it later, after Hope has left. He lays out how he’s changed and that Hope has forgiven him. He warns Finn not to come between him and Hope. Finn takes it as a threat. Finn tells him off, saying that he’s a bad person and shouldn’t be with Hope. Thomas warns him again.

Steffy mentions to Hope that Xander is back in town, so Hope tells her that she heard all about it from Finn. Steffy is surprised that Hope and Finn have been talking. Steffy tells her that with Xander going around spouting accusations, Thomas needs someone who is fully committed to him. Hope flashes back to Thomas asking her to marry him.

Ridge, Carter and Brooke talk about how good Eric looks now. Ridge is cautiously optimistic and still feeling guilty for not honoring Eric’s wishes. Carter talks about how much Eric has done for him, and Ridge repeats what Eric said not too long – that Carter is part of their family. Ridge changes the subject to Thomas and Hope. He thinks they should all let them be as the grownups that they are. Carter excuses himself. Brooke admits that Thomas is behaving better. Ridge is grateful for her support.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

[dramatic music]

Hope: Okay, okay, I– just– just hold on– hold on a second. So, the fact that xander is even back in town is news enough, but that he is still making these accusations against thomas?

Finn: Look, xander seemed emotional to even talk about it, but you get why your relationship with thomas is so concerning for everyone who cares about you?

Hope: I just– I don’t understand why he’s coming back to town and bringing all this stuff up again.

Finn: Maybe because it’s true. Maybe thomas is responsible for emma barber’s death.

Thomas: Hold on. Xander said what?

Steffy: He told finn that you killed emma.

Thomas: Why would he do that? Why would he make these kind of accusations?

Steffy: I don’t know. I just wish they never had this conversation.

Thomas: What did you tell finn?

Steffy: I told finn that it wasn’t true. To forget what xander said. Never mention it again.

Brooke: Eric looked good.

Carter: Yeah, a little better every time we see him.

Brooke: Don’t you think, ridge?

Ridge: Yeah, sure. I don’t wanna get too excited. He’s not out of the woods yet. We don’t know. This– this procedure, we don’t know what it did. We don’t know how compromised dad might be and what kind of life I sentenced him to.

Carter: Ridge, I can’t even imagine. An intense responsibility was placed in your hands, but eric is hopefully on the mend.

Brooke: You did the right thing, ridge.

Ridge: Listen, obviously, I’m– I’m happy that he’s doing better. I– but I– I– we don’t– we don’t know who he’s gonna be when he comes back, when he– he crossed over to the other side, right? And maybe he saw mom, maybe he saw phoebe. I haven’t been able to talk to him about that and I don’t– maybe a part of him wanted to stay there.

Thomas: Now would be a good time to say thank you.

Steffy: To me? For what?

Thomas: We may not always agree, but… when we’re down in the trenches, you always have my back and that means the world to me.

Steffy: Well, I’m your sister. I’m always gonna be on your side.

Thomas: Even when I don’t deserve it?

Steffy: Stop. Please. You have done an incredible job working on yourself, remaking yourself. And yeah, have you made mistakes in the past? We all have. But you’re a good man. And look, what happened to emma, it was a tragic accident, but it was an accident. She lost control of her car. It wasn’t your fault.

Hope: I cared about emma a lot. We were friends. I felt responsible for her. She was my intern. She was young. She was full of promise and she left us too soon. And we all struggled with her loss, xander especially, but to keep blaming thomas?

Finn: You think xander is lying?

Hope: Xander took his theory to the police and they did a full investigation and they cleared thomas.

Finn: Yeah, that’s what steffy said.

Hope: Okay, so then why– why are you digging into this?

Finn: No, I’m not. This guy, xander, shows up at my office, and he clearly thinks thomas is guilty and that worries me, hope. I care about you. You didn’t live this strong,

Carter: Eric changed my life. Believed in me. He gave me opportunities I would’ve never had without him and I’m very thankful for the career, but most important is… he made me feel like family.

Ridge: Because you are family. Don’t ever doubt that.

Brooke: We’re lucky to be able to claim you.

Ridge: Speaking of family, this is important. We all gotta be on the same page.

Carter: About eric?

Ridge: About eric and… hope and thomas. I know you have your concerns, but–

Brooke: Of course, I have concerns. They’re valid.

Ridge: I have my reservations as well, but thomas has worked hard. He lost his way and now, he’s back and if hope and thomas want to have a relationship, they’re grown-ups. Let them have it.

Thomas: Okay, so what are the chances of xander showing up at finn’s office as a new patient?

Steffy: I know. It’s a crazy coincidence.

Thomas: You sure there wasn’t prior contact?

Steffy: That xander and finn knew each other? No. Finn had no idea who xander was.

Thomas: Okay, but maybe xander knew who finn was, right? Because it’s not exactly like you’re low profile.

Steffy: You think xander came back to pin emma’s death on you and used finn as a way to do it?

Thomas: It’s possible.

Steffy: Oh, my gosh. This is crazy.

Thomas: I know.

Steffy: I thought we’d put this all behind us.

Thomas: Obviously, xander hasn’T.

Steffy: Look, I– I tried to explain it to finn that xander knew about what happened with baby beth and he wanted to tell us, but you… you stopped him. And I think, maybe xander wants payback. Look, I– I know you’ve done dark things in the past, but I do not believe you would murder someone.

Thomas: Okay, but I’m gonna take a wild guess here and think that finn doesn’t think the same way that you do. I mean, he came in here, busted in and got in my face because you and I were arguing.

Steffy: Yeah, but he was just trying to be protective.

Thomas: You don’t need protection from me. And neither does hope. Look, I get why you’re worried about hope and me and our relationship, because you think that she could hurt me. And then, that could send me in a tailspin and put me in a bad way, but finn thinks the opposite. He thinks I could hurt hope, which is the last thing I’d ever do. I love her. I– I want the world for her. And no one, I mean no one, is gonna come between us.

Finn: Do you even realize what a remarkable woman you are? I’m a pretty good judge of ’em. I married one. My mother’s one. Oh, li, li. Not– definitely not sheila.

Hope: Yeah.

Finn: But look, the point is you’re amazing. You’re hope logan, founder of hope for the future, which is not only a kickass design house, but it’s this wonderful charitable organization that does so much good for people all around the world. I mean, who would’ve ever thought about combining the two.

Hope: Uh, it seemed– seemed obvious to me.

Finn: Well, that’s because you’re special. In all these years, you’ve worn your values and your principles out where everyone could see them and be inspired by them and emulate them. And this… detour to thomas? It’s not you.

[ Hope clearing her throat ]

Hope: I, uh… hate to break it to you, finn, but hope for the future, I mean, hope logan, this paragon of virtue, that’s not all I am. I’m also a woman and thomas reminds me of that.

Finn: I get it, okay? You’re rebelling against that image. I mean, against liam and the way he’s treated you, right? And then, there’s thomas. With his heart in his hand, he’s telling you everything you want to hear. You deserve better than him. And now, after hearing what xander had to say, that he might be responsible for the death of an innocent, young woman? Hope, he’s dangerous and you need to walk away.

Brooke: After everything that thomas has put hope through, you’re really asking me to ignore my reservations and support their relationship?

Ridge: Maybe not all of your reservations, but yeah, that’s what I’m asking you.

Carter: I don’t think I need to be here for this particular conversation.

Ridge: Carter, thanks for coming to the hospital.

Carter: Try and keep me away.

Ridge: What do you think?

Brooke: Hm. It’s not that simple. I’m concerned.

Ridge: I know you’re concerned, but what has thomas done lately? Has he mistreated hope in any way?

Brooke: No.

Ridge: Scared or made her feel afraid?

Brooke: Not that I know of.

Ridge: No, right? She seems pretty good. She seems happy doing what she thinks is right.

Brooke: Yes, but–

Ridge: But what? Thomas made mistakes. How hard does he have to work to get your trust back? How good does he have to be?

[ Brooke sighing ]

Brooke: I will admit, he has been on his best behavior lately.

Ridge: Yeah. So, what do you say? Why don’t we give him a break? He’s a changed man. He’s good enough for your daughter.

Steffy: You looking for thomas?

Hope: Yes. Do you know where he is?

Steffy: We spoke earlier.

Hope: Okay, well, if you find him, uh, can you tell him to see me?

Steffy: Uh, hope. Hold up a sec. Look, I– I think you should know something. Um… xander avant is back in town.

Hope: I know.

Steffy: You do?

Hope: Yes. I found out from your husband, actually.

Steffy: You were with finn?

Hope: Well, he, um, seems to be worried about my relationship with your brother.

Finn: Yeah, I can stop by in the morning and take a look at her chart. And if her vitals are stable, we can release her. Okay, thanks.

[ Knock on door ] Thomas.

Thomas: I wanted you to have time to finish your call.

Finn: How long have you been standing outside my door?

Thomas: Long enough to hear your conversation with hope.

Finn: Okay, well, I’d appreciate you not lurking around listening in on my conversations.

Thomas: Well, I, uh… I actually came here to talk to you, brother-in-law to brother-in-law.

Finn: Um, okay. I’M… I’m listening.

[ Thomas sighing ]

Thomas: I’m a very lucky person. Hope opened her heart and found forgiveness for me somehow. And now, somehow, we’re together and I am so in love with her. I’m going to treat hope like the jewel that she is. Now, you are married to my sister, which makes you my family, whether you like that or not. And I feel like, as family, we should be able to get along. I think we can get along. Look, hope’s heart, it’s safe with me. That hasn’t always been the case. She knows that, you know that. You know my history. I was a hurt person and I hurt people, but as a doctor, you also understand that people who are hurt, they can be rehabilitated. They can be healed. I’m healed, finn. And finn, I– I do not want trouble between us, so don’t make trouble between us. Don’t put yourself between me and hope, understand?

Ridge: Every aspect of my life, I feel your love and your support. At this point, I count on it. How do you do that? How do you know when I need it?

Brooke: Because I pay attention and it’s not a chore because you are my favorite subject.

Ridge: Yeah? Hey. Think about what I said.

Brooke: I will.

Steffy: So, finn specifically asked you to come to his office?

Hope: Um, yep. He texted me that he wanted to see me.

Steffy: About thomas?

Hope: Well, yes. He is concerned about our relationship, like everyone else and warned me against it.

Steffy: Interesting.

Hope: Yes. And then, he brought up xander and that’s how I knew he was back in town.

Steffy: What exactly did finn say?

Hope: Well, just that xander made accusations against thomas and his involvement with emma and her death.

Steffy: Look, I– I really wish finn didn’t bring you into this and I’m sorry about that.

Hope: No. It’s, um, it’s not like it’s my first time hearing it. We all had to deal with that.

Steffy: It was awful about what happened to emma. I mean, she was such a sweet girl, but what happened to her was an accident. She lost control of her car and she drove off mulholland. The police investigation proved that.

Hope: You don’t have to convince me. I mean, yes, thomas has done many regrettable things in the past, but a murderer he is not.

Steffy: I’m really glad to hear that because I know that thomas has turned his life around. Look, if these, um, these false accusations come out about emma, if they do, he’s gonna need someone to be there for him, to have his back. So, it’s either you’re all the way in or you are all the way out. He needs someone there who truly loves him and is there for him.

Thomas: Hope logan… will you marry me?

Steffy: It’s the least my brother deserves after all the hard work he’s done on himself.

[ Hope inhaling shakily ]

Finn: Sounds like you’re threatening me, but you– you wouldn’t do that, right? Because you’re the new and improved thomas. If you think that I’m buying any of this, you’re mistaken.

Thomas: Wait, this is so antagonistic. We’re supposed to be brothers-in-law. Like what? Why can’t we just support each other, right? Look, I’ve made mistakes in the past, yes, but haven’t you made mistakes before?

Finn: Not like you. And your mistakes aren’t little blunders, thomas. You kept hope away from her daughter for months and I understand why a family wants to believe the best in each other and I get why steffy is so quick to defend you, but I see you clearly, thomas. You are unstable as ever and you need to stay away from hope. And, by the way, after learning what xander has to say, I’m concerned now, more than ever, because not only are you unstable, you’re dangerous. Emma barber died that night and xander’s convinced you killed her.

Thomas: The case was closed and I wasn’t charged for a reason.

Finn: But that doesn’t mean you weren’t guilty. What happened that night, thomas?

Thomas: Do me a favor, finn. Don’t mess with my family or my life and especially, don’t mess with my relationship with hope.

Finn: Or what? Are you gonna drive me off a cliff too? You might have them all fooled, thomas, but not me. Your father, your sister, I mean, even hope, they’ve all bought into this new and improved thomas, but I see right through it. I see the anger in your eyes and the hostility and this obsession that you call love. You still have issues, thomas. Serious issues. And you play it off as the good designer, the good father, the good boyfriend, but you are a bad person and hope is a decent, wonderful woman who is too good for you. And as long as I live and breathe, you will never be with hope. Ever.

Bold & The Beautiful Transcript

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Steffy: I still can’t believe it. I mean, what are the odds that he chooses you as his doctor? In all of L.A.? Do you think he came back here to stir up trouble?

Finn: For thomas.

Steffy: Well, could you think of another reason that he’d bring up emma’s death? Accuse my brother of murder?

Finn: I actually kinda had to pull it out of the guy.

Steffy: Well, when you did, xander didn’t hold back, right? He said that my brother is responsible for emma’s death. But he wasn’t, finn.

Thomas: Sure you don’t wanna change your mind? You’re allowed to reconsider. But not this time.

Hope: I’m sorry.

Thomas: No, I’m not. At least you didn’t throw the ring in my face. I’m serious! I just wanna be with you, so I can wait.

Rj: Hey, luna, can you hand me that sketch? Luna?

Luna: What? Oh. Sorry, I was just thinking about my mom.

Rj: Well, what are you– are you thinking about how the date’s going?

Luna: Look, I realize that bill spencer is not your favorite person.

Rj: Yeah, that’s– that’s putting it mildly.

Luna: Okay. But, my mom hasn’t had a man in her life in a really long time. So, who knows? Maybe bill could be the one.

Rj: The one?

Luna: Who changes her life forever.

Bill: I’m right, aren’t I?

Poppy: About what?

Bill: San francisco. Golden gate music fest. I realize it was a long time ago.

Poppy: Yes, bill. I remember. It was a wonderful night. One that I haven’t forgotten. Or ever will.

Rj: Wow. So, you’re expecting a lot from a first date.

Luna: No. It’s only if bill really does turn out to be the one.

Rj: The– the one who sweeps her mom off her feet?

Luna: Yeah. I mean, stranger things have happened.

Rj: Yeah. Especially when bill spencer’s involved.

Luna: Wait. What do you mean?

Rj: Let’s– let’s just say that he has quite, uh… a history with the ladies.

Luna: Should– should I be worried? Should my mom be?

Bill: I don’t know. I mean, I think that she can handle herself, but I don’t know her that well, so.

Luna: When it comes to my mom and men, I’ve always felt bad that my dad was never in the picture. I mean, not just for me, but… for my mom as well.

Bill: Thank you. So, you do realize I’ve got a million questions.

Poppy: That many?

Bill: All right. Maybe half a million. What’s that?

Poppy: Fortification. For all the intense questioning.

Bill: This is a date, all right? It’s not gonna be a cross examination.

Poppy: I’m joking. Hey, but this is all natural. It is guaranteed to put a smile on my face.

Bill: Fair enough.

Poppy: Can i admit something?

Bill: Sure.

Poppy: I was a little nervous about this date of ours and this will just take the edge off a little, much like your scotch.

Bill: So, back to that night all those years ago.

Poppy: Hm.

Bill: A chance encounter that turned into something more.

Poppy: Well, I don’t wanna put you on the spot, but I never heard from you again. You never called.

Bill: I meant to. I really did. It’s just that… after the festival, it was– it was back to work. Uh, at that time of my life, I was all about building my company into what it is today. You might even call it an obsession. I had no room in my life for anything else. And if that’s– that’s a lame excuse, I know.

Poppy: No, it isn’T. You had a life to live and so did I.

Bill: You’re very sweet to let me off the hook, but I am sorry, poppy. More than you know.

Thomas: You may not be wearing the engagement ring on your finger, but I think it’s wonderful right where it is, next to your heart. It’s kinda where it belongs. And in the mean time, I’ll keep reminding you how happy I can make you.

Hope: I am happy.

Thomas: I know, yeah. I am too, but think about how much happier we’ll be if we were like husband and wife and stuff. I’m not gonna push. I’m sorry. I’m not pushing. Uh, I know that you are not ready to marry me. Yet.

Steffy: Thomas is my brother. You need to support him.

Finn: Baby, I want to, but we can’t just ignore xander’s accusation.

Steffy: Xander isn’t as innocent as you think. He was part of the whole baby beth lie.

Finn: So, you think he’s making his accusations against thomas as payback?

Steffy: That’s exactly what I think. Look, what happened to emma, it was awful, but that accident wasn’t because of my brother.

Finn: So, you believe your brother?

Steffy: Yes. And the police.

Finn: Police?

Steffy: Xander went to the police and the police determined that it was reckless driving. It wasn’t thomas’ fault. Look, I didn’t say anything to you because there was already so many things stacked up against thomas in the past, but thomas didn’t do what xander said. You’re my husband, finn. You need to understand that.

Luna: I think bill seems like a nice enough guy. I know, I know. I know you’re not the biggest fan of him, but he is very successful and larger than life.

Rj: Is that your mom’s type?

Luna: I don’t know what my mom’s type is actually, but if bill and my mom’s paths really did cross years ago like bill thinks, I don’t know. Maybe he is her type after all.

Bill: Li never told you.

Poppy: You saved her from this horrible sheila woman? No, I had no idea. I mean, that’s amazing. My family and I owe you a lot.

Bill: Oh, no, no, no. You don’t owe me at all. The fact is, I owe you an apology. Look, I– I meant what I said. The impact you had on me all those years ago… and– and look at you. That same glowing, effervescent, free-spirited beauty. If I picked up the phone back then, who knows how different our lives could’ve been.

Thomas: I’m sorry that my proposal caught you off guard.

Hope: I hate to disappoint you.

Thomas: You didn’t disappoint me. I get it. You just– you couldn’t accept. You’re not ready to commit to me or to anyone. That’s okay. But when you are, and in the meantime, you’ll know, you’ll always know, that you are the only woman for me.

Steffy: You’re worried about my brother? Well, so am I. But not about what xander said. I’m worried that hope is using him. And if she ends it with thomas, like this could be really devastating for him.

Finn: Yeah, I agree. It could be a breaking point, but as concerned as I am for thomas, I mean, I’m even more concerned for hope. I– I’m sorry, honey, but I still think that thomas has issues. Hope needs to be protected.

Steffy: So, you’re taking hope’s side?

Finn: I’m not taking anyone’s side. Yes, thomas is family. He’s your brother. But, that doesn’t negate or forgive him for what he did to hope. Keeping baby beth from her, perpetuating the lie that she died during child birth. These are cruel things.

Steffy: So many people suffered. Hope suffered. I suffered. Yes, I adopted a child, not knowing it was hope’s baby.

Finn: Yes, exactly. He put you through hell because he didn’t come forward and tell you what he knew. And now, these accusations from xander–

Steffy: That’s exactly what they are. They are accusations. That’s all they are. He’s just trying to get back at thomas because he got axed from forrester, from our family, from thomas.

Finn: He’s convinced that thomas is responsible for emma barber’s death.

Steffy: That is not true. It was a tragic accident. I– I– I can’t believe we’re talking about this again.

Finn: No one in your family mentions it.

Steffy: It doesn’t mean we’re not haunted by it. Look, what happened to emma, it was terrible, but it was an accident. I will tell you it again, thomas is not to blame. It wasn’t his fault. So, drop it, okay? Please, baby, just drop it. I can’T. Woma

Rj: It must’ve been hard growing up without a father. I mean, you said that’s all you’ve ever known, right?

Luna: Yeah, it’s always just my mom and me. I mean, it’s not like my dad was in my life and he walked out on us, never to return.

Rj: Can’t miss what you’ve never known.

Luna: Yeah. Something like that. Though, I do have to confess, when I was younger, I did think about him a lot. Like, who he was.

Rj: Has poppy ever talked about him? Mentioned a name? Nothing?

Luna: Nope. All she’s ever said was that I was made from love.

Bill: So, I was doing a little poking around the forrester creations website.

Poppy: Hm?

Bill: Very impressed with luna.

Poppy: Thank you. I’m really proud of her.

Bill: Well, you should be. She’s making the most of her internship and that speaks well of her.

Poppy: Luna adores fashion. You know, it’s been her dream ever since she was little. To be a part of that world. She worked really hard to get there.

Bill: Well, they’re lucky to have her.

Poppy: Well, I’m just thrilled that she’s happy. Especially since she didn’t have the easiest childhood.

Bill: How’s that?

Poppy: Well, her father wasn’t in her life.

Bill: Oh. I– I’m sorry to hear that. Guy’s gotta be a total jerk.

Poppy: No, he isn’T. He never knew I was pregnant.

Bill: So, luna has no idea who her father is?

Poppy: Mm-mm. Nope.

Bill: But you do?

Poppy: All right. You’re getting kind of personal. We haven’t seen each other in 20 years.

Bill: Ah, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to pry. It’s just that, luna is really exceptional. Any man would be proud to call her his daughter.

Thomas: Hope for the future put on hold didn’t slow me down. What do you think?

Steffy: I think it’s nice.

Thomas: It’s nice. That’s all you have to say? Really?

Steffy: Actually, I have a lot more to say.

Thomas: Oh, no. This isn’t about hope and me, is it?

Steffy: No. It’s about xander. Xander avant.

Hope: Hi. I got your text. You wanted to see me?

Finn: Yeah. Thanks for coming.

Hope: So, I’m going to guess that this is about thomas.

Finn: Yeah. I’m worried more than ever about your involvement with him.

Luna: Imagine, bill spencer, a man from my mom’s past, could possibly be her future. I mean, wouldn’t that be surprising?

Rj: Anything is possible, I suppose.

Luna: Look, I’m not trying to play matchmaker, but if something really came of this and they really hit it off and somehow got involved?

Rj: Luna, it’s their first date and you’re hearing wedding bells. Come on.

Luna: No, no. Stop. Stop. I guess it’s just the romantic in me, but.

Rj: Ah.

Luna: I love happy endings and maybe, bill spencer could be the one to give my mom one, after all this time.

Bill: You are a very beautiful woman.

Poppy: Thank you.

Bill: As beautiful now as you were then. I just remember watching you dancing to the music and you were just so into it. I mean, the look on your face, the way your– your body moved, just so free and uninhibited. It was like nothing else mattered but that moment in time.

Poppy: My life was so different back then. I was so carefree, before I became a mother.

Bill: I still can’t believe you have a daughter luna’s age. I swear, I never forgot about you. In case you’re wondering, I would really like to see you again, poppy.

Thomas: Wow, talk about a small world in a very large city. Wasn’t xander in london?

Steffy: He was in london. Now, he’s back in L.A. He showed up at finn’s office and he freaked out when he found out that I was his wife.

Thomas: Oh, wow. I mean, I guess there’s no surprise there. His tenure at forrester didn’t exactly end well. Dad let him go.

Steffy: Yeah, part of that was because of the whole baby beth lie.

Thomas: Okay, so why are you bringing this up? So, finn saw xander as a patient. It’s no big deal.

Steffy: It is a big deal, thomas. He and emma were close and he hasn’t forgotten about what happened on mulholland. You and I know what happened to emma, it was an accident, but xander doesn’t think that. He told finn that he thinks you’re responsible for emma’s death.

Hope: While I appreciate the concern, finn, it is misplaced. There is nothing to worry about with thomas, as I have told steffy, as I have told everyone else over and over and–

Finn: I realize that and while steffy’s worried about her brother, I’m worried about you.

Hope: Okay, well, that’s– that’s sweet, but it’s unnecessary. I mean, I know better than anyone how much thomas has changed, so.

Finn: Are you sure about that, hope? Because I learned something pretty shocking today.

Hope: About thomas?

Finn: I, um, I saw a new patient and when he saw our wedding photo, he– he freaked out and he couldn’t believe that I was married to steffy forrester.

Hope: Well, I am sure that that was just a mistake or that he’s a fan. I mean, steffy has many fans.

Finn: No, he is not– he is not– he’s definitely not a fan. He’s a former employee of forrester. Does the name xander avant ring any bells?

Hope: You saw xander?

Finn: Yeah, and he made a pretty shocking statement. And I– I told steffy and she seemed to already know and I’m sensing that you do too. And yeah, it goes all the way back to one of the darkest chapters of your life, when your baby was stolen and you and liam thought that she was dead, and look– look, I’m really sorry to be– I’m bringing all this up, but I really wish I didn’t have to. I wish I could just forget what xander told me, but given the things thomas has done in the past… and look, I mean, steffy, she– she believes in thomas. He’s her brother, after all, but when xander accuses thomas of murder, now do you understand why I’m so concerned about you?

Steffy: I don’t know what Xander Avant tried to tell you, but I think he’s wrong.

Finn: He– he accused your brother of murder. She was a Forrester intern. Emma Barber.

Steffy: What?

Finn: Wait, do you know about this?

Steffy: I knew that Emma died in a car accident, Finn. It wasn’t murder.

Finn: Well, Xander seems pretty convinced.

Steffy: Oh, my God.

Finn: What aren’t you telling me?

Steffy: Well–

Finn: No, look, I– I understand that Thomas has done a lot of terrible things in the past and even I wouldn’t have thought… murder. Is your brother more dangerous than I realized?

Thomas: You may not be able to wear this ring on your finger just yet. But in the meantime, it’s exactly where it belongs. Right next to your heart.

Hope: Maybe… someday I will say yes. But right now, I just… I’m not ready for that level of commitment, and… I hope you can understand.

Liam: So here’s what I don’t understand… all the restaurants in L.A… Why do you put yourself in a position to run into Sheila?

Bill: Because I want that degenerate to know that I’m keeping tabs on her. Dollar Bill is always watching, just waiting for her to slip up.

Liam: Oh. Nice. Well, it seems like you’re out of luck today because Hollis said that she and Deacon won’t be in, so…

Bill: I’ll give her twice as much grief next time.

Liam: [ Chuckling ] Fair enough.

Bill: Thank you.

Liam: Uh, thank you. So, uh, you… you in a rush or something?

Bill: No. Why?

Liam: Because you specifically invited me to drinks, and not dinner, and I’m a little hurt, and I was wondering why.

Bill: Well, you’re gonna be more hurt. I’m kicking you out after.

Liam: Well, what, why, what the hell? What did I do?

Bill: All right, hey, Dad has a date.

Liam: You– you have, you got a– is it anyone I know?

Bill: Not directly, but you do know her nephew who happens to be married to Steffy.

Luna: Mom, this is so exciting. You haven’t been on a date in so long.

Poppy: I know. I’m so out of practice, Luna. Okay. It’s probably just best if I cancel.

Luna: No, no, you can’t do that.

R.J.: Whoa, what’s going on? What are you cancelling?

Luna: Ah, my mom is going on a date with a certain publishing tycoon.

R.J.: No. Is it…

Luna: Yeah, Bill Spencer asked her out.

R.J.: All right. This is my humble opinion. Okay? You shouldn’t walk away from this. You should run, you should run as fast as you possibly can.

R.J.: Did I say that out loud? I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. It’s just that I’m not exactly a huge Bill Spencer fan.

Luna: Yeah. Well, shouldn’t my mom get a chance to form her own opinion?

R.J.: Yes. Sure.

Luna: Yes, and the best way to do that is to meet up with him.

R.J.: Okay, but question, how did he get your number?

Poppy: He just tracked me down somehow.

Luna: Okay. So, Bill thinks that they might have met years ago and he just wants to get to know her better. I think it’s sweet. Mom, come, come on, you gotta go on this date, please. Seriously. What do you have to lose?

Bill: Remember me telling you about the woman I met here a few weeks ago?

Liam: Yes. The one you thought you recognized?

Bill: Yeah, I couldn’t shake this feeling that we’d met before. Well, now I’m certain of it. Anyway, she is Finn’s aunt. Her name is Poppy. And I’m looking forward to getting to know her better.

Thomas: I’m not gonna lie. I am disappointed. Not– not that I should be disappointed. I mean, obviously, this proposal, it… caught you off guard. Came out of the blue.

Hope: But it– it was beautiful though, Thomas. I mean, everything you said, and this ring is…

Thomas: Yeah, but you need more time and I understand. And like I said before, uh… it feels like I’ve waited my entire life to be with you. I can wait a little longer.

Finn: Tell me, Steffy, what’s really going on? Is your brother more dangerous than I realized?

Steffy: No. Like you said, my brother has made some terrible choices in the past, things that he regrets, but not murder.

Finn: Yeah, but you don’t seem surprised Xander would think it.

Steffy: Look, there are some things about Xander that you don’t understand. And once I tell you the whole story, I think you’ll realize why he made that accusation.

Poppy: I don’t know, Luna. I mean, this just all seems a bit silly. Getting back into the dating scene?

Luna: What scene? It’s one date with one guy. That’s all there is to it.

Poppy: Okay. True. But is this the one date the one guy that I should be seeing? I mean, R.J. doesn’t seem to like him. Right? That can’t be a good sign.

R.J.: Well, may– maybe she’ll have better luck with him than anyone in my family ever has.

Poppy: None of you like Bill?

R.J.: Um, my– my cousin Will likes him. But he kind of has to like him because he’s his dad, so…

Luna: Oh, my god. Go, please go enjoy yourself. And I don’t know, maybe think of it as like a little mystery to solve.

Poppy: Mystery?

Luna: Yeah, I mean, he said that you guys have met before, and maybe it’s true. So just try to figure it out together. You know, talk about where you’ve lived. The places you’ve been. Who knows? It might be true. You guys really have crossed paths before.

Poppy: All right. All right.

Luna: You’ll go?

Poppy: Yes. I mean, it would be rude to cancel at this point.

Luna: I hope you two figure it out, whatever it is that connects you.

Liam: Thank you.

Bill: Thanks.

Liam: So… [ Chuckles ] The history that you think you share with Finn’s aunt. Tell me her name again.

Bill: Poppy.

Liam: Poppy. Was it…? Uh… did you– did you two…?

Bill: Hey, I don’t kiss and tell.

Liam: Oh, you don’t kiss…

Bill: Sometimes I do. I’m not kissing and telling now.

Liam: All right.

Bill: Now get out of here. Scram.

Liam: I’m going. I know. I knew you were gonna say that. I don’t want to be here anyway. Listen, good luck to you. And, um… I know that your– your love life lately has been less than you deserve. So… I hope this mystery woman brings something new. Maybe even something special to your life.

Bill: Thank you, son.

Liam: See you.

Thomas: I gotta admit, I was feeling a little hopeful about this. I had this image of you taking the ring and sliding it on your finger and this huge ear to ear grin. All this joy on your face.

Hope: Thomas.

Thomas: Yeah, but you’re not ready yet. And I get that. I do. And I’m happy. It’s right there next to your heart.

Hope: Well, for now. But I do think we should, um, maybe keep this proposal between the two of us. At least until I figure myself out. Besides I was just talking to your dad and your sister about how our relationship should, uh, you know, just stay between the two of us.

Thomas: Yeah. Also your mom would freak.

[ Both chuckling ]

Hope: Yeah, I could think of a few people that wouldn’t be too thrilled about this.

Thomas: Hm. That includes Dr. Finn, Mr. Medicine Man. I don’t think he’s, uh, too fond of me.

Steffy: This is so weird. Xander Avant, randomly your patient. I didn’t even know he was back in Los Angeles.

Finn: I’m pretty sure he’s not gonna be my patient. He didn’t exactly react well to seeing your picture and learning that Thomas is my brother-in-law. Okay. So… you said Xander was involved with what happened with Beth?

Steffy: Not initially, he got pulled into it and then when he learned that Beth was alive… he wanted to tell the truth.

Finn: Oh, let me guess. Your brother told him not to.

Steffy: According to Xander, Thomas threatened him.

Finn: Threatened?

Steffy: We don’t know if that’s true or not, which… the state of mind my brother was in back then, yeah, it probably is true. And that’s–

Finn: Wait, so you’re saying that Xander’s making these accusations, claiming Thomas killed someone as payback?

Luna: Look, I know you’re not the biggest fan of Bill.

R.J.: That’s an understatement.

Luna: Okay. But I’m happy for my mom. Okay? She deserves some attention.

R.J.: Yeah, but it’s negative attention because I know Bill– Bill, he can be… okay. I’ll stop. All right. I– I genuinely hope she has a great time. I really do.

Luna: Yeah, me too.

R.J.: It’s adorable, how much you care about your mom.

Luna: Well, yeah, obviously. I mean, my mom sacrificed so much for me, just… raising me on her own. I often think about how different my life would have been if my father stayed in the picture. Whoever he is.

Bill: Poppy. Thank you for agreeing to join me.

Poppy: Well, after you went to the trouble of finding me.

Bill: How could I not? I couldn’t stop thinking about you. This feeling that we’ve met before, now I’m certain of it. It was years ago. But there’s not a doubt in my mind.

Hope: Why would you… think that about Finn?

Thomas: Yeah. You know, I was speaking to Steffy earlier and I was asking her to support us and our relationship. Um, and I– and I said, if– if she can’t do that, to at least not undermine us.

Hope: Okay.

Thomas: And then Finn came in and warned me not to speak like that to my sister.

Hope: Oh, okay. Yikes.

Thomas: I know. Look, I– I– I’m glad that Finn is protective of Steffy, but… I don’t know. I guess for a long time I’ve kind of wondered what Finn thought of me and now he’s making it abundantly clear.

Finn: You know how I feel. I know you can do better than Thomas.

Steffy: Look, it is possible that Xander is trying to get back at Thomas? Make him suffer a bit? But this, this is really irritating. Like spreading lies that he killed Emma, especially after all of this time? I feel terrible about what happened to Emma. She had her whole life ahead of her. It was a tragic accident. She lost control of her car, Finn. She drove off Mulholland; she took the turns too quickly. It wasn’t murder. Thomas did not murder her. So, can you please just get that out of your mind, please? Because I don’t wanna think about this anymore. I really don’t. I really don’t. It was just so much pain and I don’t… no, I don’t wanna talk about it. Xander’s wrong. So, let’s leave it at that.

R.J.: I know it must be strange, never knowing–

Luna: Who my dad is? Yeah. It’s strange. But, I don’t know. It’s also kind of normal. I mean, it’s all I’ve ever known, so… do I wish that he stuck around when I was a kid? Yeah. Sure. But not even for my sake. But more so for my mom. Sometimes, I can’t help but wonder how different her life would have been if he just manned up and made a commitment.

Poppy: I’m curious, what makes you so certain?

Bill: You promise you won’t think I’m a stalker?

Poppy: Well, that depends on what you say next.

Bill: All right. Fair enough. I did a little digging.

Poppy: Into?

Bill: Into you. Your life, your beautiful daughter, Luna. I was looking at pictures of you online. And it all started coming back to me. You really don’t remember?

Poppy: Remember what?

Bill: The Golden Gate Music Fest? Over 20 years ago? You were dancing. So free, so beautiful. Every guy noticing you, including me. I know it was you. You made eye contact. We danced. We talked for hours. It was a very memorable evening. At least it was for me. I haven’t forgotten. And something tells me you haven’t either.

Hope: Try not to worry. Finn is just… concerned about his wife. And as long as you keep showing that you’ve changed. And prove yourself to be the kind, generous, thoughtful man that you are. He’ll come around. Everyone will.

Thomas: Well. There’s only one person that needs to come around. And she already has. It’s you. Um, I believe in us, Hope. I love what we’re building together. And since you didn’t take that ring and throw it in my face, I think that means maybe you feel a little bit like the same. I think we can have a wonderful life together. And think about how ecstatic Douglas would be, right? Take your time. Okay? I’m not going anywhere. My eye will never wander to another woman. Because for me, it’s only you, Hope. Only you.

Steffy: I realize you’ve been concerned about Thomas. So hearing this from Xander is probably the last thing you needed.

Finn: Definitely not something I wanted to find out about my brother-in-law.

Steffy: But I believe in him, Finn. The good man he is.

Finn: The man he’s trying to be now. But back then, Thomas was deeply troubled. I mean, what he put Hope through to try and be a part of her life? Allowing her to think her baby was dead? Then having his own sister fall in love with a child that he knew belonged to someone else?

Steffy: Yeah. It was a horrific time. It took me a very long time to come to a place where I could finally forgive him. And once I realized that he was obsessed with Hope, truly obsessed with her–

Finn: This goes way beyond obsessive behavior, honey. And I look– I’m not gonna presume to diagnose him, but… there was something seriously wrong back then. And no matter how hard he tries to be a better man and the hours and hours of therapy. I just… we need to be cautious around your brother. And– and if you wanna believe in him, I support that. But please, after learning this from Xander, whether it’s unfounded or not. I just– I think… we need to keep our eyes very open.

Steffy: You’re right. I get it and I will. That’s why I’ve been so concerned about Thomas having a relationship with hope. Look, I do believe that he’s healed. I believe that he’s not obsessed with her anymore, but it takes that one thing to just trigger him and I worry about that. I worry about what will happen if… Hope lets him down.

[ Dramatic music ]

Xander: I know it sounds crazy and I’m sure you don’t want to believe that your brother-in-law is capable of something like this, but Thomas, he’s– he’s not a good guy. You should be very careful with him.

Finn: Thomas? You’re saying Thomas murdered somebody?

Thomas: Will you marry me? Will you make me the luckiest man in the world? Say yes, Hope. Say you’ll marry me. Say that you will be my wife.

Steffy: I’m telling you. Hope isn’t taking it seriously.

Ridge: Well, she didn’t talk to me about that. She just said that her relationship with Thomas is private. And it is. I mean, they’re grown-ups, right?

Steffy: It’s private because she wants to hide it from us, Dad.

Ridge: She’s not hiding it from anybody.

Steffy: She’s using Thomas as a hook up. She and Liam just split.

Ridge: I don’t think your brother sees it that way.

Steffy: Hope has no intention of getting serious with Thomas.

Brooke: Let’s hope you’re right.

Ridge: How was your meeting?

Brooke: It went well. Everybody was so kind about sending their regards for Eric.

Steffy: It’s really incredible watching the entire fashion world cheer on Granddad.

Ridge: Well, it makes sense. He’s the man.

Brooke: He is. So, how is he today? Any news?

Ridge: Well, the doctor said he’s getting better all the time. He’s meeting his markers.

Brooke: Good. I’m glad to hear that. And I’m glad to hear that Steffy and I are on the same page.

Ridge: About what?

Brooke: About Hope. I mean, she can’t possibly be considering a future with Thomas.

Thomas: So, what do you think, Hope? Will you marry me?

Hope: Thomas, I– I’m, um, I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say. I– it’s– it’s so unexpected. Um…

Thomas: Is it really, though? You know how much I care about you. You know how devoted I am to you. And that I always will be. To you, and to only you. All you have to do is say yes.

Finn: Thomas is a murderer? That’s what you’re telling me? All right, look. My uh, my brother-in-law is a lot of things, but, uh, a killer?

Xander: I probably shouldn’t have said anything, but once we started talking about Thomas, I just– but I thought you should know.

Finn: Okay, look, I just met you, okay? Is that it? You came in for an exam.

Xander: I know, but I promise, I had no idea who you were when I booked the appointment.

Finn: I understand that. Okay. But this accusation? Just I… okay, you– you’re saying that you worked at Forrester Creations with my wife.

Xander: Yes, several years ago, but I had no idea you were married to Steffy.

Finn: And–and now you’re implying that Thomas took someone’s life?

Xander: Emma Barber. She was totally innocent. She didn’t deserve what Thomas did to her.

[ Car skidding and crashing ]

Xander: It wasn’t an accident, Zoe.

Brooke: I am not only trying to protect my daughter. I’m looking out for Thomas as well.

Ridge: Hm. Because it doesn’t always come across that way, my love.

Brooke: Okay. I’m sorry. I– I do care about Thomas, but Hope is like a drug to him and he’s got to stay away.

Steffy: I agree with Brooke. Hope is Thomas’s kryptonite. Look, I’m impressed with Thomas, all the steps he’s made, with Douglas, with work, but his relationship with Hope could cause some real problems.

Ridge: Or– or maybe it won’t cause a problem. Where’s all the– the faith you guys keep talking about? That you walk in with. Where is it?

Brooke: I don’t have much of that when it comes to Hope being with Thomas.

Steffy: Yeah, neither do I. And if I suspect what I think she’ll do, if she ends it with Thomas, he’s going to be heartbroken.

Ridge: I don’t want things to end that way either, but if it does, that doesn’t mean that Thomas is gonna crack.

Brooke: We’ve seen him crack before.

Ridge: He’s not the same guy. He’s not weak anymore. He’s just– can you just give him some credit, please?

Steffy: I just don’t want this to be the thing that sets him back. Either Hope is fully with him, which I know she doesn’t want that, or she needs to end it with him. Because I don’t want Thomas to put his heart further on the line. I don’t want her playing with his emotions.

Thomas: You have my whole heart. I want you to be my wife, my forever.

Hope: Thomas, I, um… well, you– you are so incredible. I mean, the ring, it’s– it’s gorgeous. And you’re so sweet to do this for me.

Thomas: Not just for you. For us, for our child, for our life together.

Hope: Yeah, I had no idea that you had any of this– any of this planned.

Thomas: Wow. Really? I mean, okay. Well, you– you’re not the easiest person to surprise, okay? And I have had this ring for a while. And I’ve been trying to find the right moment and I know that this isn’t exactly the most ideal location. Being here at work, surrounded by dresses and whatnot, but we have had some of our most incredible memories here.

Hope: Um, Thomas, you are so, so thoughtful and you always make me feel special and it’s in the way you value me. The way you’ve put me first. I’ve never had that before. I can’t tell you how nice it is not to have to question your commitment or your loyalty and I know I know how deep your love is for me.

Thomas: So, that’s a yes? You’ll be my wife?

Hope: Thomas, I can’t accept your proposal. I can’t make that level of commitment to you or to anyone right now.

[ Thomas sighing ]

Finn: I know what Thomas is capable of. I’m not naive, okay? I’ve heard all the stories.

Xander: Yeah, well, every story you’ve heard is true.

Finn: But ending someone’s life?

Xander: Look, if Thomas can hide a baby from her parents, you don’t think he’s capable of doing more? You know what? Um, I should go. Like I said before, I’m sorry that I wasted your time, but you can’t be my doctor.

Finn: Because Thomas is my brother-in-law?

Xander: Look, believe me or don’t believe me, okay? That’s your call. But all I know is that Emma was a– a sweet, beautiful young woman and everybody loved her. She was– she was kind and– and smart and a talented young dancer and she had her whole life ahead of her. And now she’s gone.

Finn: May I ask how she died?

Xander: Yeah, it was a car crash. Mulholland Drive.

Finn: And– and you think that Thomas is responsible?

Xander: I don’t think he’s responsible. I know he is.

Brooke: I didn’t mean to upset you about Thomas.

Ridge: I’m not upset. I just thought we’d moved past this.

Brooke: Yeah, I thought so, too, but then our children started dating.

Ridge: And now what? All bets are off? You sound like my mother right now when we started dating.

Brooke: Yeah, I suppose I do, but you were nothing like Thomas.

Ridge: I wasn’t perfect.

Brooke: Me, neither. And I’m still not.

Ridge: Pretty damn close, if you ask me.

Brooke: I don’t want this to cause a rift between us.

Ridge: It won’t. I see what you’re doing. I know you mean well.

Brooke: I’m not being selfish. Of course, I’m looking out for my daughter, but I’m also trying to protect Thomas.

Ridge: I know that. And I believe you. And you gotta believe me when I tell you that I think Thomas is so much better than he was. And maybe the two of them together, maybe that’s not the worst thing. Maybe… okay. Maybe this is their destiny. Can I say that?

Brooke: No.

Ridge: But think about it. My mom, she never thought that we would be together. She said we were horrible for each other and now look at us.

Brooke: Well, that’s true. We’re better than ever.

Ridge: Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah.

Ridge: They may have to navigate some rough waters and maybe they have to as well, but my son adores your daughter and maybe she likes that. Maybe they should be together.

Hope: Don’t get me wrong, Thomas. I am so touched by your expression of love and the fact that you’d want to spend the rest of your life with me. Because I love spending time with you and with Douglas. Right here in this office, working together and– and our time alone together. Every moment with you is magical. I just– I am not ready yet for that level of commitment. I mean, I’m still trying to find closure at the end of my marriage to Liam. I wanna make sure that Beth is in a good place and I still wanna give myself space to figure out what I need and who I am and what I think my future looks like. And I am, I’m so sorry. I’m just– I’m not ready yet for this, Thomas. I hope you understand.

Thomas: It’s okay. You don’t have to apologize. I do understand. But I don’t want this ring. It belongs with you.

Hope: What? What are you doing?

Thomas: Until you’re ready to put this ring on your finger, we should keep it here where it belongs. Right next to your heart.

Finn: Thanks for coming over.

Steffy: Well, I’ll drive anywhere to get a kiss from you.

Finn: I could really use it after today.

Steffy: Rough day?

Finn: Yeah, you could, um, you could say that.

Steffy: Difficult patient?

Finn: This guy came in and that’s– that’s why I texted you. Says that he knows you.

Steffy: Me?

Finn: Yeah, and you must know him.

Steffy: What? Is it like someone I dated before or something?

Finn: No, no, it’s not.

Steffy: Well, what’s his name?

Finn: Uh, Xander Avant.

Steffy: Xander Avant? Wait, he was– he was here in your office? I– I didn’t even know he was back in Los Angeles.

Finn: Apparently, he’s back in from London.

Steffy: Huh.

Finn: And he said that he worked at Forrester Creations as an intern.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, he was– he was fired. So, what did he– did he know who you are?

Finn: No, no, not initially. He just– he came in for a physical, but he kind of freaked out when he saw that picture of us. And realized that we were married and that Thomas was my brother-in-law. I don’t know. It was– it was weird and I don’t really know how to take it, but Xander made a very serious accusation against your brother.

Ridge: You’re not alone. I was concerned about their involvement as well.

Brooke: I know. I remember that.

Ridge: But sometimes, you gotta just stop fighting. Right? What’s the point?

Brooke: Ridge, what if it just blows up in their faces?

Ridge: So, what if it does? They’re not kids, they know what they’re doing. They– they’re being honest with each other. And I think Thomas knows that this might be as far as it’s gonna go.

Brooke: I don’t think that he’s prepared to accept that.

Ridge: I think he has accepted it, but what about Hope? What if she falls for him? The two of them together wouldn’t be the worst thing.

Brooke: No. No, I just don’t see that happening. Deep down, I don’t think that Hope will ever be able to commit to Thomas.

Hope: Thomas, this is such a beautiful gesture and…

Thomas: Only the best for you. Hey, I don’t want you to feel any pressure. I believe in us. And I believe that ring will be on your finger. I know it because of our love. I can feel it. I feel our love every time we’re together. Working together. When you’re saying my name. In the bedroom. I can feel it all the time. I just have to wait. Hey, I have waited for years already. I can wait a little longer.

Steffy: What else did Xander say?

Finn: He was surprised I didn’t know who he was.

Steffy: Did he tell you he got caught up in the whole secret about baby Beth?

Finn: No.

Steffy: Yeah, he was one of the ones who knew and didn’t say anything. That’s why we had to let him go.

Finn: Geez, I’m– I’m sorry. I– I know that’s a…

Steffy: I just– I don’t– I don’t like thinking about it. So many lies and so many lives turned upside down. Especially Hope and Liam.

Finn: I mean, and– and you. Raising the little girl you adopted, not realizing it was actually Beth, Hope and Liam’s child they thought was stillborn.

Steffy: Yeah, like I said, I– I don’t like to– to think about that. It was a really terrible chapter in my life. And so many people were hurt.

Finn: And your brother was at the center of it.

Steffy: Yeah. But he says it– it was his biggest regret and it still haunts him to this day. I mean, allowing Hope to continue to believe that Beth was– that Beth was dead. And he knew that she was alive and I was raising her as Phoebe. It was terrible. But Thomas isn’t like that anymore, okay? He’s grown. He’s changed. I mean, so much so that even Hope has miraculously forgiven him.

Finn: Yeah, that’s– that’s a miracle, all right?

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: Look, I am still unclear about Thomas. And I know he says it’s not an act, but maybe he hasn’t changed as much as everyone thinks. No, look– look at the moment when I walked in on you guys at the office earlier. He’s laying down the law. Threatening you.

Steffy: No, he– he wasn’t threatening me. Yes, he was fired up.

Finn: Fired up? Steffy, he was in your face telling you what you can and cannot do.

Steffy: He’s my brother. I can handle it. Look, you still haven’t told me why Xander was here. Did he accuse Thomas of something?

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: Well, what?

Finn: I don’t know how to tell you this Steffy, but Xander accused Thomas of murder.

Thomas: My sister’s just forcing the issue and she needs to back off.

Steffy: He just got a little worked up. He needs some time to cool off.

Thomas: If you have a problem with my relationship, you should keep it to yourself.

Finn: Or what, thomas? What are you gonna do?

Thomas: You know what, finn? This really doesn’t involve you.

Finn: See, when you speak to my wife that way, it does. I don’t stand for that.

[ Phone chiming ] A new patient at the office.

Thomas: You probably shouldn’t keep them waiting.

Finn: Are you okay?

Steffy: Yeah, I’m fine. I can handle it. Thank you. See you in a bit.

Hope: I understand that steffy just wants to protect her brother.

Ridge: And you understand why she might be concerned.

Hope: But steffy has nothing to worry about. My mom has nothing to worry about. You have nothing to worry about.

Ridge: But I do have something to worry about. I do worry. So, let me ask you a simple question: Do you see a future with my son?

Hope: All right, like father, like daughter. I guess I’m in the hot seat with you now, huh.

Ridge: Nah, I’m just asking a question.

Hope: What my intentions are?

Ridge: Yeah. Are you serious about my son? Because he’s serious about you and the last time he was serious about you, it caused a lot of problems for my family and for yours. And I would hate for history to repeat itself.

Steffy: Thank you, ahn. Yes, it is. It is wonderful news. Yeah, we’re very grateful that granddad is getting better. Mm-hmm. Yes, of course. We’ll talk to you soon. All right, bye bye.

Thomas: Silk supplier?

Steffy: Yeah. Granddad’s recovery is being celebrated all over the world.

Thomas: And hopefully, we’ll have even more to celebrate soon.

Steffy: But we still need to be patient. Granddad just got off the ventilator, so he has a long road ahead.

Thomas: Yeah, you know, it’s really amazing that that granddad has all this help and support around him.

Steffy: Yeah.

Thomas: From his friends and his family. You know, maybe you could take some of that care and concern that you have for me and my relationship with hope and focus is it on granddad instead.

Steffy: Okay.

Thomas: And if you could, just to be helpful, pass that message along to your husband, you know, the good doctor?

Steffy: Ha.

[ Knock on door ]

Finn: Come in.

Woman: Dr. Finnegan, your patient’s here.

Finn: All right. Right on time. Uh, xander… avant?

Xander: That’s right.

Finn: Right. I’m dr. Finnegan. Nice to meet you.

Hope: I’m telling you, everything is fine and there is nothing to worry about, but I– I don’t understand why people refuse to believe me.

Ridge: Everything is fine. You’re living in the moment right now. What happens after that?

Hope: We love being with each other. Why can’t that be enough?

Ridge: So, you don’t think it’s gonna last?

Hope: I did not say that.

Ridge: So, you think it will?

Hope: Are– are you asking me to give you a guarantee? To be completely certain, ridge? Because I– I can’t give you that. I thought I was going to be with liam for the rest of my life and I’m not. I don’t have a crystal ball. I don’t know what the future holds.

Ridge: Well, thomas thinks he knows what his future’s gonna be. He thinks it’s gonna be with you. Is that a possibility?

Hope: I get that you’re a concerned parent, but this? This is between thomas and me. Only thomas and me.

Thomas: Yeah, I forget that finn is an only child. Just doesn’t understand sibling energy.

Steffy: He doesn’t like the way you talk to me.

Thomas: Maybe I did come on a little strong.

Steffy: Ah, he’s just protective of me. Just like I’m trying to protect you with hope.

Thomas: You’re my little sister. I’m supposed to protect you too. I still want you to be supportive of me. Look at me. Happy, steff. I’ve earned this, haven’t I?

Steffy: Look, I don’t want to crush your feelings, okay?

Thomas: Why do we have to focus on the past? Look, I’ve done so many things that I regret. I wish I could go back and change them, right? But I’m done sitting in that remorse and that regret. I wanna move past that and hope has moved on. Why can’t you?

Steffy: I– I know you’ve made some changes. I just don’t want you to jeopardize them and when I see you and hope together and the way you talk about her, kind of feels that you are.

Thomas: Not to me. Look, I– I want you to be there for me. I want you to be my supportive sister. I mean, so many things are going so well in my life right now– our lives. I mean, the company is thriving, right? Douglas is also succeeding and yeah, I’m in love. You don’t have to fully support my relationship with hope if you really, really, really don’t want to, but please don’t undermine it. Please.

Finn: Don’t see any red flags in your medical history.

Xander: No, no. I’ll just mostly be coming in for annual checkups, that kind of thing.

Finn: Okay, I’ll order some labs, we’ll get a baseline and I see your doctor in london released your records, so.

Xander: Oh, great. Um, if it’s easier, I can get them from my last doctor in L.A.

Finn: Oh, did you used to live here?

Xander: Uh, yeah. Yeah, a few years ago.

Finn: Glad to be back?

Xander: Uh, we’ll see.

Finn: What took you to london? Work?

Ridge: You were involved with keeping baby beth a secret from everyone. It’s not a crime against society, it’s just a crime against my family. But I love my family. Don’t ever step foot in this building again. You’re terminated.

Xander: Uh… just– just got to the end of my road here, you know? Just needed some time. Regroup.

Finn: Well, that’s good. Glad you– you got some time. So, the exam room is just out the door to the right, so.

Xander: Oh, great. You said, uh… wait. Are you married to steffy forrester?

Steffy: Hey, any updates on granddad?

Ridge: Um, I’m waiting on finn to give me a call about the latest test results. Uh, I need to talk to you.

Steffy: Yeah, what’s going on?

Ridge: Hope was in here. Said you gave her an earful about thomas.

Steffy: I told her to back off and now she’s dragging you into it? Right, okay.

Ridge: She’s not dragging me into it. She just said that there’s an attitude about her relationship.

Steffy: Attitude? My attitude isn’t the problem. I– I told them that I am concerned about them and I am. Thomas has intense feelings for hope and that makes him vulnerable, but hope thinks it’s no big deal. She doesn’t want a future with him, you know that.

Ridge: I asked her about that.

Steffy: What did she say?

Ridge: She told me to mind my own business.

Steffy: Okay, okay. So, thomas is just like a open book. Actually, he’s more like a bright neon sign. No restraints, no reservations and I know he wants me to support him, but I can’T. Because this looks like it could be dangerous. This could end very badly for him.

Thomas: Sorry about my sister. She loves to lecture.

Hope: Mm, well I got one from your dad too.

Thomas: Hm. What is wrong with my family? It’s like, “okay, so granddad’s doing better, so what else can we stress out about?”

Hope: Well, I did kinda bring it on myself. I was, um… I was hoping ridge might tell steffy to lay off us a little bit.

Thomas: Okay, so I’m not the only eternal optimist in this relationship.

Hope: No. Um, but I also– I do understand where they’re coming from, thomas. They love you and they worry.

Thomas: Yeah, even when I told them not to worry.

Hope: Well, don’t you know? I mean, what we have is very, very, very confusing to them.

Thomas: Oh, very confusing. Even though it makes complete and total sense to us and that’s all that matters.

Hope: Mm. Can’t let them hear that though.

Thomas: They should be feeling the opposite, you know? For what you’ve shown me, your love, commitment and support, it’s helped me gain the strength to become a new man. The kind of man that the line deserves. The kind of man that douglas deserves as a father. That’s because of you. You’ve made me happier than I ever have been. Thank you for that.

Xander: You and steffy are married?

Finn: Do you know my wife?

Xander: Yeah. I was an intern at– at forrester.

Finn: Nice. All right, so you know steffy? You worked with her and the forresters?

Xander: Yeah, I worked with all the forresters. Even thomas.

Finn: Thomas?

Xander: Yeah, your brother-in-law?

Finn: Do you have some sort of history with him?

Xander: You really haven’t heard anything?

Finn: Uh, no, but, uh, the way you’re acting, I feel like I, uh, should have.

Thomas: You stop! You’re trying to make this simple, xander, and it’s not. We’re trying to tell you it’s not. Hope and liam, they’re gonna be fine and beth? She’s gonna be fine too.

Xander: Then what about emma? She is dead because of you. Because of this evil secret.

Thomas: Emma was reckless and selfish, which is what you’re being right now.

Xander: Is that a threat?

Zoe: No. Nobody is threatening anyone.

Xander: Oh, please. He’s working you, zoe! Praying on your fear, just like he’s praying on hope. You know, I heard her mother talking to donna and katie. She’s not happy about this engagement. She’s worried as hell because she knows that it’s wrong. What kind of marriage do you think you’re supposed to have with hope? It’s based on a lie. I mean, what– what kind of life do you think we’re supposed to have, huh? With this always hanging over our heads? But I don’t want him tempting fate, getting mixed up with hope. He put that dark chapter behind him.

Xander: You know what? I– I don’t want to be rude. I’m sure you’re a great doctor, but I just don’t think this is going to be a good fit, so I think maybe I should go.

Finn: Wait, I’m sorry. Because of what? My family. Okay, obviously, um, there is– there is something going on here that I don’t quite understand and you’re giving me the feeling that it involves thomas.

Xander: Thomas… thomas isn’t who you think he is.

Thomas: No one’s gonna take this away from us.

Hope: I don’t think that’s what they’re trying to do. But, I also don’t want to cause tension between you and your family, especially now with eric’s recovery. So, I just– I just think we should be grateful

Thomas: I am. I am so grateful to be right here, right now, holding you, kissing you.

[ Thomas sighing ] I love how close we are. So close that all I have to do is look at you and I know what you’re thinking. You don’t even have to tell me. I look beside me and there you are, always. You just– through the hard times, my grandfather’s illness. Also, the good times. You put your faith in me. You have trust in me to grow and become the kind of man you deserve by your side. Yeah, I’ve told you this before and I will tell you again, I am a one woman man and that woman for me is you, hope. I also know a little– a little boy who feels the exact same way. Loves us together. Always and forever. So, hope… will you make me the happiest man in the world? Hope logan… will you marry me?

[ Both chuckling ] Hope logan… will you marry me?

[ Both chuckling ]

Finn: Not who I think he is?

Xander: I don’t even know what to call someone with no conscience. No remorse. Look, doctor, I’m sorry. I know he’s your brother-in-law, but… but thomas did something just… evil. Um… to an innocent young girl.

[ Car skidding and crashing ] What if it wasn’t an accident, zoe?

Zoe: Sh. Xander.

Xander: I can’t stop thinking about it.

Zoe: We should be thinking about emma and her family, not what you think thomas may have done.

Thomas: Hey.

Xander: You can’t stop me.

Thomas: Go. But if you tell anyone about this–

Xander: What are you gonna do, huh? You gonna kill me like you killed emma? You gonna kill zoe? Um, I’m sorry. Have– have you ever heard the name emma barber?

Finn: Uh, no. What– what– did something happen to her?

Xander: Yeah. We were both interns. We were all hoping on hope for the future.

Finn: So, did she leave too? Did thomas make it difficult for her?

Xander: Difficult? No. No, much worse than difficult. I’m talking about murder.

Finn: Murder?

Thomas: Say yes, hope. We belong together. Please say you’ll marry me.

Thomas: Don’t do this.

Steffy: What? It’s a simple question. Do you love my brother or not?

Thomas: You don’t have to answer that. Steff. Why are you putting hope on the spot like that? Look, you have been completely open about your feelings. Don’t you think thomas deserves the same?

Thomas: Come on, steff.

Steffy: I’m not trying to upset hope, thomas. I’m just being a protective sister.

Thomas: Okay, well, you don’t need to be a protective little sister because I’m a grown ass man.

Steffy: You are a grown ass man who’s been crazy about hope for a very long time. But I don’t think she’s ever reciprocated the feelings. Until rome. Until you kissed him. And ever since then, you two have gotten closer. Your feelings have gotten stronger. So that’s why you need to be straight with him. Do you love thomas? Will you ever love thomas?

Finn: Hey. Yeah. I’m checking to see what the eta is on on those test results. Seriously? No, I– yes, I understand that they’re shorthanded. It just… okay, well see what you can do, okay? I need the results as soon as possible. All right. Thank you.

Ridge: It sounds like you’re slammed.

Finn: Ridge.

Ridge: I’ll come back when you’re less busy.

Finn: No. Honestly. I don’t know when that’s gonna be. It’s crazy around here all the time what can I do for you?

Ridge: Well, I came by to see dad, but apparently he’s having some tests.

Finn: Yeah, I ordered them. I was actually just checking to see when the results are gonna be ready. He’ll, uh, he’ll be back up in his room soon.

Ridge: How’s he doing?

Finn: How do you feel he’s doing?

Ridge: How do I– well, I don’t know. Um… I kind of was hoping that he’d have improved a little more and I know it takes time. I get all that but, uh, I just wanna make sure we get there.

Finn: Get there as in when is he gonna be eric forrester again?

Ridge: Yeah. I know you can’t look into the future. I– I know. But, um… I want to make sure we get the same guy back. Or is that asking too much?

Finn: You’re right. I– I can’t see into the future. All right. But what I can do is tell you where he is right now. Right? And where I hope he’ll be as eric’s doctor, in a month or two or longer.

Ridge: Understood.

Finn: Okay, first of all, ridge, look, you– you gotta understand. Eric’s met all his markers, right? He’s off the ventilator, he’s healing nicely from the surgery and that’s saying a lot for a man who’s been through what he’s been through.

>>Ridge: Yeah, we almost lost him. We did lose him.

Finn: Briefly, but he came back. Right? Eric came back to you and your family. That’s a family he gets a lot of strength from. Supporting him in recovery.

Ridge: I get that and his family will be here.

Finn: Always, right?

Ridge: Yeah.

Finn: But that same family been through a lot. Especially you, ridge. I mean, you have responsibilities of being eric’s medical power of attorney, all that. So, it– it put steffy through, the toll it took on her. I just can’t imagine what it was like for you.

Ridge: It almost seemed easy on paper, right? Give him what he wants. Let him go peacefully. No machines. And then you came up with, I still don’t know what it is but whatever you did and uh, so far so good.

Finn: So far. Yeah.

Ridge: Well that makes you the doctor, makes you the man that saved my dad. And I know I’ve been hard on you and I’m sorry about that, but I was a little scared but he’s here and I will always be grateful to you for that.

Thomas: You need to stop. Hope isn’t on trial, okay? You don’t get to come in here and–

Steffy: And ask if she’s leading you on? If she has genuine feelings for you?

Hope: Of course, I have feelings for thomas.

Steffy: But how deep are those feelings?

Thomas: I think it’s pretty obvious. You just pointed it out.

Steffy: What? That you two are lovers? Okay. Fine. But has she actually told you that she’s in love with you?

Thomas: You gotta stop, steff. I know what this is. You don’t like our relationship. You don’t actually want a relationship between us to succeed. But that’s okay because I know what I’m doing.

Steffy: But does hope know what she’s doing?

Hope: Steff, I don’t know what you want me to say.

Steffy: I’ve asked you a question and you haven’t answered it. You haven’t even been honest with thomas. Look, I have my doubts about whatever this is, but one thing I know is that you do not love my brother. I don’t think you’ll ever love my brother, so can you stop leading him on? Thomas has turned his life around and I will not let you undermine all the progress he’s made I won’t let you do that to him.

Finn: Honestly, I, um.. I don’t know what I would have done in your situation. And as a doctor, yeah, I believe in the power of medicine to heal and I– I took an oath, but there– there have been times when… yeah, it– it– it may have been kinder to let a patient go. You know, and not try to prolong a life that was probably ending anyway with– with machines and surgeries and everything, you know?

Ridge: And there’s the rub. My dad was done. He wanted to go. And then you offered the possibility of life. And I get it. Maybe not the life he had, but a life and… I had to decide if that was worth it.

Finn: I mean, you were in the middle. I mean, you had the responsibility of being eric’s medical power of attorney. Everything that comes with that. And then on the other hand–

Ridge: A family who didn’t want to let him go.

Finn: Yeah. I know steffy didn’t want to let him go.

Ridge: Steffy, donna, brooke, bridget. All of them. They made me change my mind.

Finn: And I realize that’s a decision you’re still second guessing yourself about.

Ridge: Yeah.

Finn: Yeah, one that you’re probably still gonna struggle with until you see some significant improvement from eric.

Ridge: And we will, right? I mean, look, if– if he comes back the same person, if– if everything is fine, if he can still play the piano and do whatever he likes to do, then we’re in great shape. But he– if he loses speed even just a little bit…

Finn: You feel responsible?

Ridge: Because I am responsible.

Finn: But look, eric’s alive. Right? He’s breathing on his own. He’s getting stronger every day. And ridge, I see potential for him to recover from this. I mean, he’s already in the holiday spirit.

Ridge: I know. You heard him, right? Merry christmas. Well, what a present that was.

Finn: Yeah, well it definitely was for steffy. You know, she’s been worried sick about– not that she still isn’T. But look, she’s seeing her granddad get progress every day

Ridge: And he’s getting better. You said his markers are good? Is that what you said?

Finn: Yeah. Yeah. And if these tests show what I need them to show. Again, but for now–

Ridge: For now, we celebrate. I hear you. That’s what we’re gonna do. That’s what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna celebrate.

Finn: Good, good.

Ridge: None of this could happen without you. A few days ago, I mean, I’m sitting in the waiting room and I’m– I’m trying to think how I’m gonna live my life without my dad. And now I don’t have to do that. So, I’m– I– I’m so grateful. My family is grateful.

Finn: Thanks. I– I mean, I’m just doing my job, but the fact that’s steffy’s grandfather is eric, it also…

Ridge: Yeah, you didn’t really have a choice, did you?

Finn: I wanted to. You’ve got a good family and the foresters are fiercely loving, protective. There’s nothing steffy wouldn’t do for her family.

Ridge: Thank you.

Finn: Yeah.

Thomas: Steff. I know you’re trying to look out for me, but hope has been honest about her feelings for me.

Steffy: Have you really? Have you been honest with yourself? You’ve asked yourself where this relationship is going? Do you actually want a future with him? Have you thought about douglas? What kind of message this is sending to him? I mean, all he wants is his mom and dad back together and it seems like you’re just stringing his father along.

Hope: Okay. I’m going to stop you right there, steffy. Honestly, it is none of your business. This is an intimate, private matter between your brother and me, between our family. I am not about to share that information with you.

Steffy: What about you, thomas? I hate to say it, but you’ve had problems in the past. Your obsessive feelings for hope. I know you regret it now, but that is because of your feelings for her.

Thomas: But you’ve said it before. People change.

Steffy: Do you see what you’re doing? Do you really see what you’re doing? You’re fanning the flames. Thomas is gonna end up heartbroken because you are unable to love him the way he wants to be loved. I really think what you’re doing is unfair.

Thomas: Hope. Can I have a moment alone with my sister?

Thomas: What the hell are you doing? Are you actively trying to ruin our relationship?

Ridge: Oh, hey. Oh, ridge. Hi. Are you, um, are you coming from the hospital?

Ridge: Yeah, I was just there.

Hope: How is eric doing? You know what? I didn’t get a chance to see him. He was having some tests done, but it gave me a chance to talk to finn and thank him for everything.

Hope: Yes, he is a remarkable doctor.

Ridge: Yes, he is.

Hope: I just wish steffy would focus on that. Sorry. I, um… I just think that we all have so much to be grateful for right now. Eric doing well and, um, I wish steffy would just stop giving thomas and me such a hard time.

Ridge: What are you talking about?

Hope: I actually came in here to escape the design office. I was in there with thomas and steffy came barging in and proceeded to put us on the spot, once again.

Ridge: On the spot? What was she doing? She was asking you how you feel about her brother or…

Hope: I mean, yes.

Ridge: And? How do you feel about him?

Steffy: I’m sorry, thomas. I don’t mean to upset you. I’m just concerned.

Thomas: So you’ve said, but I love hope.

Steffy: I know you love hope. You’ve loved hope for as long as I can remember. But does she love you?

Thomas: She was married before, steff, okay?

Steffy: Okay.

Thomas: We didn’t have that before because she was married to liam. But now she’s not, right? So, this is our chance.

Steffy: So you and hope? A future?

Thomas: Yes.

Steffy: You really think that’s possible?

Thomas: I know it’s possible.

Steffy: How do you know that? Has she said anything? Any kind of indication that she wants to marry you? Spend the rest of her life with you?

Thomas okay. Not directly. Right. But I’m willing to wait.

Steffy: You have been waiting a very long time. Shouldn’t that tell you something?

Thomas: Don’t look at me like that. You don’t understand how intimate hope and I have been.

Steffy: Oh, thomas. God.

Thomas: Steff. We’ve had a wonderful relationship and I know that you say you want me to be happy, so let us be happy together.

Ridge: Take it easy. I don’t want to pry, all right? That’s his love life. My son’s love life. That’s his business. And as long as he makes strong, healthy choices, I’m not gonna interfere.

Hope: That’s great. I just wish that steffy and everyone else got that memo.

Ridge: And I’m sorry this is causing friction between the two of you.

Hope: Me too. Honestly. But I– I don’t know. I just– I don’t know what to tell everyone. I don’t have an answer. I am just for once in my life trying to be present and live in the moment and see where my heart takes me. Something that my mother has done over the years and I don’t know, it seemed to have worked out pretty well. But, I just wish that people would have the decency to give us the space to figure it out for ourselves. Thomas and I, we have– we have a good thing going. And he’s happy. I’m happy. The kids are doing well. I don’t think it’s anybody’s business. And quite frankly, keeps pushing– keeps pushing thomas and violating our boundaries, I just– I worry it could lead to trouble.

Thomas: These past few months with hope, I can’t even explain how amazing they’ve been. How amazing she has made me feel. By her own admission, how amazing I’ve made her feel. Being together, intimately, holding her, touching her.

Steffy: Oh, please stop.

Thomas: I can’t stop loving her. I— don’t you get that by now?

Steffy: I– I do get that. I absolutely get it. And I’m trying to take you at your word that you’re not getting obsessed with hope again.

Thomas: Okay, you have told me that I am a changed man. You believe that I’m a changed man. So, why would you even insinuate that? It doesn’t make any sense. Steffy, look… I’m not getting obsessed with hope. But I love her. And yeah, maybe she hasn’t directly said, “I love you, thomas,” but you haven’t been there for the intimate conversations and you weren’t there for a conversation where she looked at me and said, “I do love you for that.” And yeah, I get it. It’s not the same, but you weren’t there. There was love there, steff.

Steffy: It’s not the same. It’s not the same as hope looking at you and saying, “I’m in love with you.” And you know that. You just don’t want to accept it and that worries me.

Thomas: Okay, that’s fine. You haven’t been there for the last few months. You haven’t been there for our intimacy. You weren’t there for that conversation. That doesn’t matter. That doesn’t stop you from being supportive of me and you don’t even have to do that. You don’t have to be supportive of me. Just don’t ruin my relationship. Don’t intentionally get in the middle of my relationship with hope because I’m not going to allow that, steff.

Steffy: This is so crazy.

Finn: That’s enough, thomas. You are out of line. I don’t care that she’s your sister, you don’t speak to her that way. You hear me? Thomas. Thomas! Do you hear me?

Steffy: I cannot thank you enough. All this time, I’ve been terrified that my grandfather was dying, but now he’s through the procedure, he’s off the ventilator and he’s getting better every day.

Finn: Hey, eric is definitely improving, but steffy, he’s got a long road ahead of him.

Steffy: I know that, but it’s all because of you. You saved my grandfather’s life.

Hope: I think that was a good way to start the day. Eric is getting better every time we see him.

Thomas: Yeah. No, he is. You know, I– I couldn’t go through the holidays without my granddad. I just can’t imagine that.

Hope: He’s fighting his way back to us.

Thomas: Yeah. It won’t be easy though. He’s not out of the woods yet. Right? But– but for now, it looks like he’s gonna make it.

Hope: I think we can finally start to breathe again.

Brooke: Are you disappointed eric was sleeping? You really didn’t get much time to spend with him.

Ridge: That’s okay. He needed to rest. Besides felicia, kristen, rick are there. The whole family is coming, so, uh, I don’t know. I’m just glad he’s back.

Brooke: Yeah, me too. We should have known better than to count eric out. Even for a second. He has so much more life left to live.

Ridge: I know. People love him, need him.

Brooke: You more than anybody.

Ridge: Yeah, I’ve grown attached to the old man, you know? He’s beaten the odds, hasn’t he? It’s a real christmas miracle.

Thomas: I don’t know where I’d be without your support, your presence.

Hope: We helped each other. And now look. Eric’s gonna make it. I can feel it. Yes and yes– yes, there will be some challenges ahead, but knowing eric and his determination, I know that he’s going to meet them head on and rise above.

Thomas: God, I love that man. You know, he is– he is our family support, our family’s center. I just think about my dad and what he’s had to go through. Holding his own father’s life in his hands. Having to make the decision of whether to pull the plug, in a way, like, especially knowing that granddad, he– he didn’t want to be kept alive by machines. But thankfully, thank god, the family got through to him.

[ Both chuckling ]

Ridge: Let me ask you something. Do you think dad wants to be here?

Brooke: Of course. Why wouldn’t he?

Ridge: Because he flatlined, he went over to whatever the other side is and what if he liked it there and we brought him back?

Brooke: Ridge, you’ve got to stop doing this. You need to remain positive. Your father came back to us. It seems like the experimental treatment is working. He’s alive. That means anything is possible, including getting him back to being his old self again. And we have finn to thank for that.

Steffy: I never want to let you go. I kind of wish we were at home right now so I could show you how much I appreciate you.

Finn: Well, I gotta come home at some point.

Steffy: Yes, you do. It’s just amazing. You found a way to keep my grandfather alive. You have no idea how much that means to me and my family. I’ve never wanted to make love to someone more than I do now. Did you know 80% of women are struggling with hair damage?

Brooke: When eric is fully back to himself and completely recovered, he is going to be so grateful for you.

Ridge: I– I think this is kind of dependent. If he comes back and he sits behind his desk and rules this empire that he’s created and he gets to go home and make love to donna and have dinner and a couple of cocktails and play the piano, then yes, he’s going to be grateful. But if he can’t do all of that, if he’s not that same person, he’s gonna hate me. And he should.

Brooke: Oh, my gosh, he’s not gonna hate you, ridge. There’s nobody more compassionate and understanding than eric. He’s gonna know that you acted out of love. And that you worked hard at giving him a second chance at life. And when he recovers and he will, fully, then we will have finn to thank. I mean, what he’s done is incredibly remarkable. How he’s been there for steffy and the whole family.

Steffy: We all love granddad so much. The thought of losing him was incomprehensible. And then when dad wanted to take him off life support, I just– I couldn’t handle it.

Finn: It’s– it’s one of the most difficult things a family could go through.

Steffy: Oh, my gosh, I know. It was awful and it was tearing dad apart. And I begged him not to go through with it, and then when granddad died in the recovery room. And then, he comes back on– on a ventilator. Like that’s when I really started to doubt myself. And I started to wonder if– if we did the right thing. And maybe we should have let him go peacefully like he asked. But, oh, my god, thank god, we didn’t do that. Thank god, we didn’t do that.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: I’m just– I’m so glad that we have you. And that you gave him a second chance.

Finn: Yeah, but honey, it’s exactly that. Okay? It’s a second chance. There’s still no guarantees. He’s got a long road ahead of him.

Steffy: Yeah, but he’s gonna fight to live his best life and we’re gonna help him. Thanks to you.

Finn: No, I don’t want to lose eric either. Look, I just– listen, don’t dwell on all this, okay? And don’t guilt yourself about everything. These are very stressful and challenging things for a family to go through.

Steffy: Yeah. It makes me worried about thomas.

Finn: Why? What– what’s going on?

Steffy: He just internalizes things when he’s just scared or he’s hurting. I am glad that he’s had someone to lean on. That hope’s been there for him.

Hope: I mean, I– I still can’t believe that finn has just been working behind the scenes this entire time to try to help save your grandfather’s life. I mean, he kind of has.

Thomas: I know and I’m so grateful. I just… I hope…

Hope: What? What?

Thomas: I just hope that granddad makes a full recovery.

Hope: Well, he is still here. And he is putting up one hell of a fight and I have to believe that he is going to come back to us better than ever. And again, a large part of that is thanks to finn. I mean, your sister, she must be– she must be pretty proud.

Thomas: Oh, yeah, 100%, right, and now he’s obviously got a fan in you.

>Hope: Well, I have always had a lot of respect for him and then he gives us this miracle and I just think that we should all be very grateful that he is a part of our lives.

Thomas: You know what I’m grateful for?

Hope: Hm?

Thomas: This woman that’s in my arms right now. Yeah, that one. Right here.

Hope: Oh, oh.

Thomas: I’m just so grateful for your love and your support.

Finn: I thought you weren’t thrilled about thomas and hope’s relationship.

Steffy: I’m not. It’s just– it’s no secret that thomas is head over heels in love with hope. And she’s not gonna return the feelings.

Finn: Honey, could you blame her? I mean, how could hope forget all the things thomas did?

Steffy: He’s come a long way since then.

Finn: True. But, honey, I hate to say it but beth wouldn’t be with hope if thomas had his way all those years ago.

Steffy: Yeah, but that was a long time ago, finn. Thomas was in a really dark place. Look, I– I’m just worried that hope being so cavalier with thomas’s feelings is gonna trigger him back. And yes, I am glad that he’s had a lifeline through this whole crisis with granddad, so I can’t be mad at hope for that, but…

[ Cell phone chimes ]

[ Steffy sighs ]

Finn: I gotta get back to the floor.

Steffy: I’m gonna head over to forrester. Thank you for being my little miracle worker. What would my family do without you?

Finn: You’ll never have to find out.

Ridge: This is important. You want this tube out of your mouth or not?

[ Eric gasps ] Dad. I know I made you a promise. And I wanted to honor it. But finn came up with an option and we took it. And I’m so glad we did.

Brooke: Where did you go?

Ridge: No, I’m– I’m sorry. I’m here. I’m– I was just thinking about bridget and finnegan and taking dad off the ventilator.

Brooke: Yeah, that was really scary. Not knowing if he was going to breathe on his own or not. But then, he heard stephanie’s bible verse and he did.

[ Brooke chuckles ] I was so happy in that moment. I’ll never forget it. He did. He was breathing and eric is back with us.

Ridge: Is he back with us? Does he want to be back with us? You saw him? He woke up and he– he looked at everybody. He looked at me. He wasn’t smiling and it didn’t seem angry, but he just seemed like a man who was in a place where he wanted to be and got pulled back into a hospital bed.

Brooke: Ridge, he was unconscious. He was trying to, you know, make the adjustment coming out of that.

Ridge: I just don’t know that he wants to be here.

Brooke: Well, I do know, we have proof. On christmas day, he started breathing again on his own.

Ridge: Okay.

Brooke: And for the record, I know that eric is happy to be back here with us. Especially with you. A son that he adores.

Thomas: Yes, he is off the ventilator and he’s fully conscious. I know, it’s amazing. I’ll keep you posted, okay, renee? All right, thanks. Bye. What?

Hope: It’s just really nice to see you so relieved. That smile.

[ Thomas laughs ]

Thomas: I’m smiling because of you. You stood by me through all of this and held my hand through some of my family’s darkest hours. I love you, hope, and I can see how much you love me. (Owner) purina one… we switched and wow! From day 1, its proven natural nutrition supports charlie’s strong immune system… and ginger’s healthy heart. (Vo) healthy differences today and for a lifetime. Purina one. A difference from day one.

Brooke: It’s obvious how much you and your father love each other. You share so many beautiful memories together.

Ridge: I should never take any of that for granted.

Brooke: No, life is too fleeting. I mean, look around. You grew up here. You were playing on the floor. Your dad taught you so much. He turned you into this amazing designer and made you the man that you are today.

Ridge: Yeah, it’s true. I love that man. The smartest, the kindest man I know. And I would do anything for him. Except let him go. I couldn’t do that.

Brooke: Yeah, well, I always knew he was gonna make it.

Ridge: Did you?

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: See, that’s why my dad loves you because you’re always so positive. He’s always been our champion, right? Always believed in our love.

Brooke: Our destiny.

Ridge: Our destiny. Smartest man I know. And thank you for always being my rock. Even through your own pain.

Brooke: I will always be whatever you need me to be.

Ridge: Same. I gotta say something because I don’t say it nearly enough. I am so glad I’m on this journey with you. I love you so much, logan.

Thomas: All the time we’ve spent together and how close we’ve become, it tells me everything I need to know about how you feel about me. And you obviously know how I feel about you. I’m here for you and only you. Hey, steff. Uh, any news about granddad?

Steffy: He’s doing a lot better. We still don’t know the prognosis, but he’s– he’s not backsliding.

Thomas: Thank god.

Hope: I’m so happy for you both. I know how much you love him.

Steffy: Yeah, you have, uh, you’ve been a huge support. I appreciate that.

Hope: I’m sensing a but.

Steffy: Yeah, there is. I mean, there’s no surprise I’m concerned about my brother.

Thomas: There’s no reason to be.

Steffy: Really? Are you sure about that? Considering the history between you and hope?

[ Thomas clears throat ] So, what is this? I’m curious. Is this a– is this a relationship now? Are you guys hooking up? You really think that’s a good idea?

Thomas: Steff, I told you, everything is under control.

Steffy: I’m not sure about that after what I just heard. Thomas, you are in love with hope. You’ve been in love with hope for a very long time and those feelings have taken you to very unfortunate places. Do not lead my brother on, hope. Do not toy with his emotions. He doesn’t deserve it. What he deserves is the truth. So, be honest with him. Do you love thomas or not?

Ridge: You saw that, right? You all saw that.

Donna: Saw what?

Brooke: He opened his eyes.

Finn: Not quite open, but…

Brooke: Well, his eyes fluttered. That’s got to be good, right?

Donna: Eric, can you hear me?

Steffy: We were talking about the ventilator. Taking him off, seeing if he could breathe on his own.

Brooke: That’s a sign. He’s listening. He’s ready. Is that what you’re trying to tell us, eric? You’re ready?

Bridget: It’s time to give this a try, dad. Okay? Finn and I are a little worried if we wait too long.

Finn: We don’t want you to get an infection, eric. Eye movement’s a positive sign. It reinforces we’re making the right decision. He’s capable of breathing on his own.

Bridget: But will he?

Katie: Oh, thank you so much for doing this. Donna is gonna be so appreciative.

Zende: Of course. No problem.

Luna: Is this supposed to be a surprise or?

Katie: No, no. She just texted and said fill the house with holiday spirit.

Zende: I think we are accomplishing the goal.

Katie: Yes.

Zende: Best we can at least with– without granddad here to supervise us.

Katie: Yeah.

Rj: Hey. Found the carousel. I mean, is granddad even gonna see the decorations this year or ever again?

Luna: Well, if there’s any time of year for a miracle to happen…

Katie: She’s exactly right. This sense of holiday spirit that donna wanted us to create, it’s not just for the house. It’s– it’s so much bigger than that. Maybe this is the boost that eric needs. To bring him back to us.

Zende: I hope you’re right, katie, because I gotta say, doesn’t feel like the holidays without granddad in the house.

Rj: Him playing piano.

Katie: Pouring his lethal eggnog.

Rj: We should bring some to the hospital. I think the aroma alone, it might– it might wake him up.

Katie: I think bridget and finn might have something to say about that.

Rj: Yeah. It’s just– isn’t it hard just sitting here waiting for news?

Luna: Yeah, but your dad promised to update us.

Rj: I know– I know he did. I’m just worried that it’s gonna be bad news.

Zende: This can’t be what christmas is like for us moving forward. A holiday filled with so much joy and laughter is turned into a painful memory? Of losing the man who holds this family together?

Bridget: Thank you. We’ll see you in a minute. The respiratory specialist is on her way up.

Ridge: Specialist? What does the specialist do?

Bridget: Well, she’s the one that’s been in charge of dad’s ventilator.

Finn: And if we want to do this, remove it, she needs to have the final sign-off.

Donna: Yeah, okay, but you both think that eric’s ready.

Finn: No, we do. Plus, the risks of keeping him on this much longer.

Steffy: We have to do it. Granddad, you have to come back to us, I pray. I pray that you come back to us.

Brooke: I know you’re choosing to fight.

Steffy: Yes. Grandad, you have to fight. Fight.

Finn: Don’t lose faith, you hear me?

Steffy: He’s kept alive on these machines.

Finn: Yeah, kept alive after a very difficult procedure. Yeah, machines were needed, but he’s gonna be glad that he had them. After he’s up and about and back to the man that he was. Look, I don’t want you to lose any hope. I don’t want any of you guys to lose any hope.

Ridge: Hey, finn, no one’s given up. We’re gonna pray for a christmas miracle.

Brooke: Yes, we are.

Katie: All right. All right, no more talking about losing eric. I believe in the power of positive thinking and we are going to send your grandfather all of our healing thoughts.

Luna: I agree.

Rj: 100%.

Katie: Yeah.

Zende: So, let’s do it. Let’s send granddad every bit of positive energy we have. Maybe tell some stories, share some appreciations, memories of how awesome granddad is.

Katie: Yeah, that’s exactly what we should do. That’s how we should be spending our energy. Absolutely.

Zende: Yeah. I’ll start?

Katie: Yes. Go. Start.

Zende: You know, I wasn’t born into this family. I basically won the adoption lottery. And I’m not talking about the forrester wealth. I’m talking about the forrester heart. Particularly granddad’S. From day one, he was so welcoming. He must have thought my parents were crazy coming back from a honeymoon with the idea of throwing an orphan into the mix. But… he never let on, not for a second. He… always made me feel loved. That I was as much a forrester as anyone else in this family.

Katie: And you are. That’s just the kind of man that eric is.

Zende: Yeah. And years later, he was still so welcoming. I came back from europe and… he insisted that I live here with him. Granddad had such a gift. He knew exactly what to say, exactly how to lift your spirits up.

Katie: You’re so right about that. And he’s going to be that for you again ’cause he’s not going anywhere. Not yet.

Bridget: Okay, everyone heard what the specialist said, right?

Finn: She agrees eric’s ready. He needs to start breathing on his own.

Donna: Needs to, but there’s no guarantee he can.

Bridget: Well, there are risks.

Brooke: He wants to stay. He’ll fight. He’ll breathe.

Finn: Hey, eric, it’s finn. We need to remove the ventilator. Now bridget and I are gonna take care of that, but you have an important role to play too. Once we remove it, you’ll need to breathe.

Donna: He’s hearing you.

Bridget: You understand what you’re about to do, dad? You’re ready to breathe on your own?

Ridge: This is important. You want this tube out of your mouth or not?

[ Donna gasps ]

[ Monitor starts beeping ]

Donna: Oh, no. Please…

Steffy: Finn, do something. Save– save my grandfather.

Finn: Just hold on.

Brooke: Eric, stephanie’s bible here. “Then they cried to the lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them. He rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.”

[ Eric gasps ]

[ All gasping ]

Bridget: Oh, my god! Oh, my god.

Rj: I found them.

Katie: Oh, yay. Awesome.

Luna: Oh, my gosh. Please tell me that there’s embarrassing baby photos or, like, awkward teenage ones.

Rj: There might be one, or– I don’t know, a couple, like 50. You know what? Extra bonus points if you find any pictures of awkward teenagers of him.

Zende: Hey! Hey, hey, hey.

Katie: Oh, my god. I cannot believe he kept this picture. Or, should I say, I cannot believe that stephanie allowed him to keep this picture.

[ All exclaiming ]

Luna: Oh, my god.

Zende: Ooh, la-la.

Luna: Look at your aunt and your mother.

Zende: Incredible.

Katie: Oh, my god. He’s just…

Zende: Wow.

Katie: He’s meant so much to our family. He’s always taken such good care of us and… especially at this time of year. He’s been so kind and so caring and… wow. He’s been a miracle to so many people. He deserves a miracle himself.

[ Katie sighs ]

Donna: Eric, are you– is he getting air?

Steffy: Finn, he needs help.

Bridget: No, no, he’s okay. This is normal. It’s very hard to breathe at first.

Finn: We expect this. This is good. His body knows what to do. Just needs a little time.

Brooke: Come on, eric. You can do this.

Ridge: You gotta fight.

[ Monitor beeping ]

Bridget: Vitals are improving.

[ Eric grunts ]

Steffy: Granddad, please. Please.

[ Eric grunts ]

Donna: Eric? Eric? Eric?

Ridge: We’re here.

Donna: We’re all here, eric.

Steffy: We’re right here with you.

Finn: Eric, stay with us. Can you focus? Give us a sign.

[ Excited laughter ]

Donna: Oh, my god.

Steffy: Oh, my god.

Brooke: Welcome home, eric.

[ Rj playing “o holy night” ]

[ Cell phone rings ]

Katie: It’s brooke. Hello?

Brooke: Are you still with rj?

Katie: Uh, yeah, I’m here with rj and luna, and zende is here too. We’re at eric’S.

Brooke: Okay, well, put me on speaker.

Katie: Yeah, yeah, of course. Okay. Uh, what is it? Do you have any news?

Brooke: Eric is off the ventilator. He is conscious and he is alert.

Zende: He is?

Brooke: Yeah. He’s breathing on his own again.

[ Katie gasps ] And his vitals are improving. He still has a long road ahead of him, but this is the miracle that we were praying for. I got to go ’cause I have to make more calls and let everybody know. It looks like we’re gonna have a merry christmas after all.

Katie: Okay. All right. We love you. We love you so much. Tell eric we love him. Oh, my god, oh, my god!

Zende: Granddad did it!

[ Shouts ]

Rj: He’s gonna be okay. Yes!

Katie: Oh, my gosh. Okay, well, I think we need to celebrate. I think we need to celebrate. So, we’re sitting at the piano, one of the places that eric loves the most. We should celebrate with one of his favorite christmas carols. So you. You call it?

Rj: Yeah. “Joy to the world.”

Katie: “Joy to the world.” That’s it.

Rj: Yes. Okay.

Joy to the world

the lord has come

let earth receive her king

let every heart

prepare him room

and heaven and nature sing

and heaven and nature sing

and heaven and heaven

and nature sing

joy to the world

the lord has come

let earth receive her king

Ridge: Did you make some calls?

Brooke: Yeah. I called thorne and hope and katie spreading the beautiful news. Now, we can really celebrate the holiday.

Ridge: Yes, we can.

Steffy: Granddad, we’re so relieved that you finally came back to us.

Donna: Finn saved you, honey bear. Finn and bridget.

Steffy: Finn found a way to heal you.

Ridge: Dad… I know I made you a promise. And I wanted to honor it. But finn came up with an option and we took it. And I’m so glad we did. Please say something.

[ Eric inhales sharply ]

Eric: M– merry chr… that’s right, eric. It’s christmas. [ Laughs ]

Bridget: Merry christmas, daddy.

Brooke: It’s truly a miracle.

Donna: Merry christmas.

Bradley: From our family to yours.

All: Happy holidays!

[ All cheering ]

Bridget: It’s really hard to see my father lying here like this. Hey, um thank you so much for letting me help you take care of him.

Finn: Of course. I’m glad we got to work together.

Bridget: Me too.

Bridget: Um, I was hoping to see some improvement today. I already looked at his chart and…

Finn: His temperature went up last night.

Bridget: Yeah, I saw that. I… I– I’m really worried about pneumonia, finn.

Finn: Yeah. Me too. I scheduled a meeting with the pulmonologist.

Bridget: Oh, good. Thank you.

Finn: The sooner we get him off that ventilator, the better.

Bridget: The question is, can he breathe on his own?

Steffy: I begged you to keep granddad alive. I just wasn’t ready to let him go.

Ridge: None of us were.

Steffy: Yeah, but he gave you medical power of attorney. Taking him off life support. That was, that was your choice and I pressured you not to do it.

Ridge: All right. Yours wasn’t the only voice.

Brooke: So did I, so did donna. We all pleaded with ridge to give eric one last chance.

Steffy: Well, what if we made a mistake? Seeing him last night, seeing him all in those tubes and the ventilator, I just.. maybe he was ready to go. Yes, we did bring him back in the recovery room, but… was it wrong that we didn’t let him go peacefully?

Zende: Luna?

Luna: Oh, hey, I was just thinking about eric and how wonderful he is.

Zende: He’s the best. I got to see him this morning.

Luna: How’s he doing?

Zende: Same

Luna: Sorry, zende.

Zende: The longer this goes on, the more I worry about my grandfather,

Zende: I just sat there in the hospital talking to him. Holding his hand.

Luna: I’m sure he heard you, felt your presence.

Zende: There’s so much more I should have said to him while he was here.

Luna: Your grandpa knows how much you love him.

Zende: Yeah, I know. I just wish there was something I could do for him. I wanted to finish his collection, but ridge already asked rj to help him. I– I don’t want to get in the middle of the two of them. It’s– it isn’t the same.

Luna: That’s tough, zende. I feel for you. I can see how that’s frustrating.

Ridge: Ultimately, it was my decision. I gave finn the go ahead.

Steffy: But we pushed you into saying yes.

Brooke: We all knew the risks. Finn made no promises.

Steffy: Yeah, exactly. There’s no guarantees. And I have faith in my husband, but he can only do what he can do. I mean the rest is just–

Ridge: Hey, the rest’s out of our hands.

Steffy: But, dad, it kills me to just think that granddad is suffering.

Finn: You heard what the respiratory specialist said.

Bridget: Um… yeah. Uh-huh. She’s– she’s afraid of infection.

Finn: Look, eric’s at risk for all kinds of complications. Blood clots, pulmonary edema, R.A.D.S.

Bridget: Yeah. We both know the drill. The longer he’s immobile and on a ventilator, the higher the chances that he won’t make it.

Finn: There’s no alternative, bridget. We’re at a critical part in eric’s recovery.

Bridget: I mean, they did say that he should be able to breathe on his own, right? You and I both know the risks at his age and his condition. My fear is if we do not do this today… it’ll be too late.

Finn: So, we’re in agreement.

Bridget: Yes.

Finn: It’s now or never. We need to remove eric from the ventilator. Whoa! The new iphone 15.With that amazing camera. I wish my family had them. You’re an action star… take action! Join t-mobile!

This holiday at t-mobile,

Zende: Everything that I love about designing, I learned from granddad.

Luna: It shows and you definitely inherited some of his swag too

[ Luna chuckling ]

Zende: That is a huge compliment. Granddad is the man I admire the most, besides my dad. It’s, uh, it’s granddad. He– he is the man. I feel so powerless. I can’t heal his body, but I could be putting this fire onto paper.

Luna: Yeah. But you’re not getting the opportunity.

Zende: No and I don’t need it for the status or the prestige. I just want to do it to be able to give back to granddad. That’s all. But this is a stressful time for the family. We all just want him to come home. Like I– the last thing I want is to be butting heads with ridge.

Luna: Yeah, but you feel passed over for rj.

Zende: The only thing that matters right now is granddad coming home to all of us.

Finn: Eric can’t continue like this much longer. It’s time to extubate.

Bridget: Obviously, that would be the best possible outcome.

Bridget: There is risk. There could be loss of airway protection, ventilatory muscle fatigue

Finn: Gas relay exchange. Yeah. It’s concerning, bridget, admittedly, but so was keeping him intubated. We have to weigh the risks.

Bridget: I don’t know. What if he stops breathing altogether? I wish you would just wake up and tell me what you want me to do.

Finn: Look, if we move forward today, you might be able to hear his voice again.

Bridget: Well, he certainly wouldn’t want to live like this. Incapacitated and trapped in his own body. You know what? You’re right. Let’s do this.

Finn: Okay.

Bridget: I’m gonna go reach out to ridge and the rest of the family and tell them.

Finn: I’ll stay here. I’ll recheck his vitals.

Steffy: I fought so hard to get finn to do this surgery on granddad. But now I’m questioning myself.

Ridge: Well, it’s too late for that. It’s done.

Brooke: We can’t give up faith that eric’s gonna make it through this.

Steffy: I believe he’s going to, I want to. But I have to be realistic. I mean, dad, you were right. What kind of life awaits granddad if he does survive? Like one on feeding tubes and a ventilator. Really?

Ridge: It better not be.

Brooke: I found stephanie’s bible. I’m gonna read you what she marked. “Then they cried to the lord in their trouble and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them. He rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.”

[ Phone ringing ]

Ridge: Bridget. Hey, is there any news?

Bridget: He’s still unconscious. Uh, finn and I just met with dad’s pulmonologist and we’re very concerned about the risk of infection and pneumonia and a multitude of other things. We want to try to take him off the ventilator.

Ridge: But, isn’t that too soon? Do you think he can handle it?

Bridget: Theoretically? Ridge, I cannot give you a definitive answer in his state. Just– I need you at the hospital.

Ridge: On my way.

Brooke: What did bridget say?

Ridge: They want to take dd off the ventilator.

Brooke: What?

Ridge: We gotta go.

Steffy: They don’t think he’s going to make it?

Ridge: I don’t know. Let’s go.

Steffy: Oh, my god.

Finn: All right, eric, you can do this. I need you to breathe on your own.

Zende okay. All right. Thank you. All right, bye. That was ridge. He and brooke and steffy are headed to the hospital.

Luna: Did– did something happen to your granddad?

Zende: They want to take him off the ventilator.

Luna: Already?

Zende: Ridge says that there’s the danger of pneumonia.

Luna: On top of everything else that eric’s dealing with?

Zende: I mean, granddad, he’s been unconscious for days. I just hope that he’s still able to breathe by himself.

Luna: Well, hopefully, this is positive news, right? It’s another step towards eric’s recovery.

Zende: I hope so. I mean, finn is in charge of the case. Bridget is there too.

Luna: Yeah. Eric’s in great hands.

Zende: I trust that they’re doing what’s best for granddad. What’s in his interest. I don’t think they would be taking this risk if it wasn’t the best move.

Luna: Zende, this is so much for you to deal with. I mean, especially during the holidays. Is there anything I can do?

Zende: Honestly, you just being here is enough. You calming my nerves, just letting me vent. You are… I mean, you have this way about you. You’re just so chill and relaxed. You’re never judgmental. You’re so genuine, smart, charming lady.

Luna: Okay. Okay. Now, you’re making my head big.

Zende: No, seriously, you have all the best qualities you can hope for in a person. I can see why rj’s crazy about you.

Ridge: Hey. Dr. Finnegan?

Nurse: Yes, mr. Forrester. I’ll let him know you’re here.

Ridge: Thank you.

Brooke: Donna texted. She’s down at the chapel for a bit.

Ridge: Well, maybe she’s got the right idea. Doing the right thing is just– it’s just too much of a gamble.

Brooke: He made it through the procedure, so I have to believe he’s going to make it through this.

Steffy: Are we putting him through more pain and suffering? Should we have let him go with dignity? I mean, he already crossed over. Maybe that’s what he wanted.

Ridge: We can’t think about that right now.

Steffy: Look, maybe the treatment did work, dad. Or say it does work? What, he’s gonna be around for us? A few more days of misery? Really?

Ridge: Steffy.

Steffy: Oh, my god.

Ridge: One step at a time.

Brooke: Look, finn and bridget wouldn’t have suggested this if they didn’t think that it was absolutely necessary for eric to breathe on his own. So, we have to be positive about this. We know eric’s strong. He’s survived so much. He is gonna survive this. We just have to believe in his strength and his resiliency.

Steffy: How– how’s he doing?

Finn: Um, well, as bridget told you over the phone, we want to remove him from the ventilator.

Ridge: And you’re sure this is the right move?

Bridget: It’s the only move we’ve got.

Zende: For real though, luna. Everyone here adores you.

Luna: Well, the feeling is definitely mutual.

Zende: Well, I’m glad that you’ve had such a positive experience.

Luna: I wasn’t expecting all this, though. You know, I was just hoping to come in, work hard and make a good impression, but it has been so much more meaningful than I could have ever imagined. I mean, I’ve actually formed real relationships and friendships like with you and eric. Everyone has gone out of their way to make me feel welcome. Like guys, seriously, I am just an intern.

Zende: You are not just an intern. You are an amazing addition to forrester creations. You’ve been so great with my grandfather. It means the world to my whole family.

Luna: It was an absolute honor to be in the same presence as eric. Like to get the opportunity to learn from someone so kind and brilliant.

Zende: Well, he is a big fan of yours as well. I mean, we all are. No one as much as my cousin, of course. Rj’s is a smart guy. He saw something special in you. He is very lucky to have you.

Finn: Any change in his vitals?

Nurse: His blood pressure is down.

Steffy: That doesn’t sound good.

Brooke: Hi, eric. It’s brooke. We’re all here for you and donna is down at the chapel, so she’ll be back soon. Finn and bridget, they’re doing everything they possibly can for you. You’d be so proud of our little girl. I just want you to know that we’re here for you. We’ll always be here for you. We love you so much. Oh, mom. I promise, we’re doing everything we can for him.

Brooke: I know, sweetheart. I know.

Steffy: Granddad. It’s me, steffy. I really hope you can hear me. I’m so sorry, but we couldn’t let you go. We’re just not ready to say goodbye and I just pray that you are not upset with us. I can’t do that. I can’T. I can’T.

Ridge: Steffy’s right. We wanted to exhaust every possibility because we didn’t want to lose you. And you know what? Maybe we were wrong. Maybe this is not your time to go. Maybe there’s some kind of miracle that can give you back the life you want. On your terms. Not attached to machines and wires and that’s why we’re here. I wanted to… and I want to talk to you about that ’cause… the doctors want to take you off the ventilator. They want you to breathe on your own. And we want that too and I know you want that because that– that means you get to be closer to running around and singing and dancing and creating things and drinking martinis with me. I know it’s scary, but you’re not alone. Look, you’ve– you’ve got your family, you’ve got your kids, your grandkids. You’ve got fans all over the world pulling for you. But you have to fight. You have to want this. So, if you do want this, you gotta show us a sign.

Steffy: Look, he’s moving his eyes.

Finn: Eric. Eric. Can you– can you hear us?

Steffy: Oh, my god. His eyes are moving.

Bridget: Dad. Daddy. Can you hear us?

Ridge: Dad? I know you’re in there. I know you can hear us. I know you can finn and bridget, they want to take this ventilator off. Are you ready for that? Are you ready?

[ Dramatic music ]

[ Ventilator hissing ]

Finn: And the blood gas?

Dr. Martin: Already drawn.

Bridget: So you’re worried about my dad’s co2 levels?

Finn: Worried about everything right now, but yeah.

Dr. Martin: Dr. Finnegan and I aren’t leaving anything to chance. Mr. Forrester lost a lot of blood during surgery.

Bridget: I’ve seen a lot of patients like this, just not when it’s my dad.

Dr. Martin: He could improve.

Bridget: We lost him. He was gone.

Finn: We got him back.

[ Heart monitor beeping ]

Bridget: I’m just wondering if ridge was right, and we should have just let him go painlessly, peacefully.

Ridge: Zende, dad would be so touched by your offer. I know I am.

Zende: This collection meant so much to him, if we can finish it–

Ridge: We will finish it. We will. Hopefully, to celebrate his recovery.

Zende: I hope so, too. But we don’t know, we don’t know if granddad’s gonna pull through or if he’ll ever be the same person. I don’t even want to think about it. The only thing I can do is–

Ridge: Is what?

Zende: Is work. That’s what granddad did. When faced with his own mortality, he kept creating, determined to make his last collection his best. If we work together, I know it will be. R.J., He’s too young. He’s too inexperienced. His time will come. But not now. Not on granddad’s last collection.

Luna: You’re finishing eric’s collection with your dad?

R.J.: Yes, yes, he really wants to collaborate with me.

Luna: R.J., That’s incredible.

R.J.: Yeah, granddad would be proud of me, right? Like, he– he would want his son and his grandson to finish this collection that means so much to him, yes? Thank you, thank you for being here for me, seriously.

Zende: Come on, ridge. It give me a chance, let me do this, I know you want to work with your son, but this project is crucial to eric’s legacy, and needs seasoned professionals.

Ridge: My dad picked R.J. To work with him.

Zende: And that made sense when eric was here to teach R.J., To show him exactly what he wanted. This is different.

Ridge: Zende… I know how talented you are. I know what you bring to the table, believe me. But R.J. Started this. He needs to finish it. But we could use your help.

Steffy: Hey, sorry, my meeting ran over, you ready? Let’s go to the hospital.

Ridge: To be continued.

[ Heart monitor beeping ]

Dr. Martin: I have to get to another consult.

Finn: Thanks again for stopping by, dr. Martin.

Dr. Martin: Of course. I’ll be monitoring his chart. I’ll put you on the order as well. I truly hope he pulls through.

Bridget: Thank you, doctor.

[ Ventilator hissing ] I knew this procedure was not a sure thing, but… it gave him a chance.

Finn: Your father hasn’t lost that chance, bridget. He’s still with us.

Bridget: I just want him back. I want my dad back the way he was. I don’t want to see him struggle like this.

Brooke: What’s going on?

Bridget: Mom.

Donna: Bridget, tell us the truth. Is eric gonna– is he gonna pull through?

[ Knocking at door ]

R.J.: Yes.

James: Hey, didn’t mean to interrupt, but the news about eric’s hit the media.

Luna: Yeah, we’ve been getting a bunch of calls from various buyers and friends of eric’s, just praying and hoping for the best.

R.J.: Yeah, we are. Can you do me a huge favor? Can you check in with katie, and make sure that she can point remotely? Otherwise, we got to find someone else.

James: On it.

R.J.: Thank you. Appreciate it, james. I feel bad. I feel greedy.

Luna: Why?

R.J.: Because I want more time with granddad.

Luna: It’s not greedy. That’s normal.

R.J.: Well, I mean, I got to spend so much time with him, all the time in the collection, I knew about his condition before anybody else did, and the rest of the family’s going to get to la, and it might be too late for them.

Luna: Or he might be awake, and getting better as we speak, and they’ll never have to see him in such a scary place.

R.J.: You know, granddad’s the king of pep talks, but you’re not half bad at them, either.

Luna: Well, you weren’t the only one that was paying attention to eric’s lessons.

Steffy: Hey.

R.J.: Hey.

Ridge: Hey.

Steffy: We’re going to go to the hospital.

R.J.: Did something happen?

Ridge: No, just checking in. You want to come?

R.J.: Of course. You don’t have to ask.

Ridge: All right, let’s go.

Luna: Hey, tell eric I’m keeping the faith, okay?

R.J.: Okay.

Bridget: I really wish I could tell you what you want to hear, mom. We just don’t know right now.

Finn: But I’ve ordered more labs–

Donna: More labs? More tests? Well, did the procedure make any difference?

Finn: Only time will tell.

Brooke: He’s still critical. He’s not breathing on his own.

Donna: I mean, certainly there should be some change, right, I mean, some sign that says it’s working or–

Bridget: That’s why finn is monitoring him. He’s calling all these tests and this lab work. Right now, we just have to wait and see.

[ Ventilator hissing ]

Brooke: Here you go.

Donna: Hey, thanks, um… I, um– I should really– I should get in there.

Brooke: No, wait, hang on. You need to take a moment for yourself.

Donna: What if something happens, and I’m not there?

Brooke: It’s okay. The nurse is in there. Finn and bridget are here. It’s okay.

[ Elevator dings ]

Ridge: Hey.

R.J.: Hey, mom. Hi.

Steffy: Hey, we came here as soon as we could.

R.J.: How are you holding up?

Brooke: Hi.

Ridge: Is there any news?

Brooke: Well, no, no change.

Steffy: We hear we almost lost him.

Donna: Uh, yeah, apparently, he, um, survived the procedure to crash in recovery.

Steffy: He crossed over to the other side.

Brooke: But he’s back now.

Ridge: He’s back? Is he back? This is not life for dad, this is not what he wants, he wants to create, he wants to live and eat and drink, and this is– he has a machine keeping him alive. It’s not what he wanted. We wanted this. Could have spared him this. Could have.

Zende: I was looking for R.J. Is he in the cutting room?

Luna: He actually just left with ridge and steffy. They went to go see eric.

Zende: R.J. Too? I didn’t realize. I try to go see granddad as often as I can. I mean, I was at the hospital before work. I’m going to go after work. But it would be nice if ridge invited me to come sometimes with them. My granddad is fighting for his life, luna. That’s the most important thing. But sometimes, I feel like I’m not fully a part of this family.

Steffy: Finn said there was no guarantees with the treatment.

Donna: But it could still save eric.

Ridge: And I’m not questioning anyone’s judgment, just my own, I made the call.

Brooke: And we all understand how difficult that must have been.

Steffy: It was an intense moment. Seemed like he wanted to come back to us.

Donna: He has to, I need him.

Ridge: We all need him. But he’s on a machine right now. It’s not what he wanted.

[ Muffled announcement over pa ]

Donna: Bridget, finn. Uh, how is eric? Did the panel show any– anything– anything?

Bridget: There’s no change.

R.J.: Can I go see him right now, if that’s okay?

Finn: Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Ridge: So no change? What– what does that mean?

Finn: We want to take eric off the ventilator, but his pulmonary function will have to improve first.

Ridge: So can he breathe on his own?

Finn: No.

Ridge: Okay. So the thing that my dad didn’t want, to be kept alive by machines, that is exactly what’s happening.

[ Ventilator hissing ]

R.J.: Thank you.

Nurse: Of course.

R.J.: Hey, granddad. Is that okay? You know, these hands… they’ve made some great art, some truly timeless designs. I hope you know that. I know that when they stopped working, you turned to me. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. You know, I was talking with luna today about just how honored I felt when you asked me you know, and you told me that you wanted me to help you. And that I’m just laughing with you. And learning from you. I want you to fight, granddad. We really, really want you to fight. Just you– this isn’t your time. You have so much more to offer the world. I’m– I’m not ready to let go of you yet. I’m not.

James: So R.J. Is not here?

Luna: He went to the hospital with ridge and steffy.

James: Ah, okay. Well, katie said that she’s all over it, working from her phone.

Luna: Oh, thanks, james. I’ll text R.J., And update him.

James: Hey, zende, we’re all pulling for your grandfather.

Zende: Thanks, man.

[ Notification chimes ]

[ Door clicks closed ]

Luna: It’s true, you know. We’re all thinking positively for eric. And you should, too. Not just for him, but for what we were talking about earlier. I mean, I don’t think that any of your family members would want you to feel shut out.

Zende: No, they don’T. And they’re probably not even conscious of it. But lately, it’s been hard to ignore.

Luna: Um, R.J. Told me that ridge wants them to finish the line together as father and son.

Zende: Yeah, go figure.

Luna: I’m sorry, zende. I know you were looking forward to completing it on your own.

Zende: I’m not trying to trash talk R.J., I know he’s your boyfriend. In the fashion world, he is like a little kid compared to me. This line needs to be nurtured and realized by someone who’s worked with granddad for years, not weeks. I wanted to use my skill, my talent to honor my grandfather, pay my respects, finish his line. But I am not the chosen one. I’m not ridge jr.

Luna: You’re frustrated, disappointed, I understand.

R.J.: I just hate it. He’s just lying there helpless. I hate it.

Brooke: Oh, sweetheart.

Steffy: Can he have another visitor?

Finn: Yeah, for sure, I’ll come with you.

Ridge: I know it hurts seeing your granddad like that.

R.J.: You know, I’m just thinking he’d want us to be as strong for him as he’d be for us, yes?

Brooke: Hey.

Ridge: I’m proud of you. Showing a lot of maturity.

R.J.: Well, thank you, dad. Appreciate it.

Ridge: We gotta do what he’d want us to do, right? The tougher things get, the more we pull together.

[ Ventilator hissing ]

Finn: He can hear you.

Steffy: I know he can. We have a special connection. We always have. Maybe it’s because I’m named after grandma. The great love of your life. You made this family. You made it great. You made it resilient. You made it strong. Now I have my own family. With finn and the kids. But it’s not going to be the same without my big-hearted grandfather.

[ Sobbing ] Is it selfish that I want you to fight? Fight to come back to us. To me. God. I know you could be at peace right now with… with grandmother and phoebe. And so many people who love you. You wouldn’t be tied up to this– this ventilator and all these tubes and machines around you, because I hate to say it, you look– you look trapped. And I don’t want you to suffer. I couldn’t bear it. I couldn’T. God, maybe dad was right. Maybe– did we not honor your wishes? Is it my fault? Ah. [ Sobbing ] I am so sorry, granddad. I am so sorry. But if you’re tired, and you don’t want to fight anymore, and you found a moment of peace, you could go. [ Sobbing ] You could go. We’ll understand. We’ll be okay.

[ Sobbing ] It’s okay to let go.

[ Sobbing ] It’s okay to let go.

Ridge: Nah, she’s lucky to have you. So am I. I will. I love you.

R.J.: Hey, was that, uh, was that mom?

Ridge: Yeah. She’s at granddad’s house. Donna left some stuff, so she’s gonna go pick it up.

R.J.: She good? Is she– is she alone?

Ridge: No. No. Hope is with her.

R.J.: Oh. Okay, that’s good. You know, she’s going through a lot right now. Her and granddad have been close for years. I mean, I’m sure seeing him hooked up to ventilators, it’s really hard on her.

Ridge: Yeah, it’s tough on her. It’s tough on all of us. And that’s why we need some good news.

R.J.: We got any?

Ridge: Yeah. You and me. We’re gonna work on this collection. That’s good news. Your mom thinks that it is.

R.J.: Oh, you told her already?

Ridge: Of course I told her. She’s very happy. Father and son working together. Let’s hope dad is happy about that, too.

R.J.: You doing okay, dad?

Ridge: Yeah, I’m all right. I just want to make sure I did right by dad, you know?

R.J.: It was a tough decision. I mean, come on, you had saying yes to the experimental treatment, which there’s no guarantees, which was rough. And then there’s the other option, though, which is unplugging the machines being the one to say goodbye to granddad. Dad, you made the right decision, okay?

Ridge: You made the right decision. We’re going to finish his collection.

Zende: Poor granddad, lying alone in that hospital bed, unable to complete his last collection. It’s so unfair.

Luna: Nothing about this is fair. A man like eric forrester, he brings so much beauty into the world with his designs and not be able to anymore?

Zende: If only I had known what was going on, I would have worked my tail off. I would have given him whatever he needed.

Luna: Hey, I, um… I hope you don’t still feel slighted.

Zende: No. I did at first, when I didn’t realize what grandpa was dealing with.

Luna: I mean, you thought that R.J. Was getting special treatment and getting to work with eric just because of who his parents are.

Zende: I’m glad that granddad had you and R.J. To rely on. He just ran out of time, was unable to finish what he started. That’s where I come in. I am determined to work with ridge to complete granddad’s vision.

Hope: You’re serious?

Brooke: Yes. Eric was in recovery. He made it through surgery, barely. And then we lost him.

Hope: Oh, my god. Mom. I–

Brooke: No. I know. It’s really frightening to think about. For a few moments there, he… crossed over to the other side.

Hope: I know this situation is dire, but I… choose to believe that when eric wakes up–

Brooke: Oh!

Hope: What? What, mom?

Brooke: Honey, you said when, not if.

Hope: Yes. I mean, he– he has to. I mean he– he has to wake up.

Brooke: Yes, I keep telling myself the same thing.

Hope: But you’re still scared.

Brooke: I am scared. I mean, really, how can I not be? I mean, look at the situation eric’s in. He’s on a ventilator. He’s unconscious. He’s got a feeding tube.

Hope: Mom, I’m so sorry. I know how much eric means to you. How much he’s meant to you over the years. How much he still means to you. And I know this isn’t easy for you, but I need you to tell me, really… how are you doing?

Brooke: Honestly, I just– I’ve been so focused on eric and, um, worried about ridge and donna and bridget that I haven’t really… I just haven’t really dealt with my own emotions, you know, my own feelings.

Hope: Oh, you mean you’re doing that thing that you always do when you put everyone else first, and you’re trying to make sure that we’re all okay.

Brooke: I’m just not sure that anybody’s okay. We’re going moment to moment, just hoping that eric makes it through this and that he has the quality of life that he deserves. But you’re right. I have spent a lot of my life with eric, and, um, it’s been incredible. I honestly don’t know what I would do if…

Luna: Yeah, of course. I will definitely pass along your wishes to ridge and the rest of the family. All right. Thank you so much for calling. That was, uh, monsieur auclair, offering his hopes and prayers for eric’s speedy recovery.

Carter: Hm. He’s one of forrester’s most influential buyers and one of eric’s lifelong friends.

Luna: So he says. There’s been lots of other calls like that, too.

Carter: It’s not surprising. Everyone loves eric.

Luna: Word is really spreading fast.

>>Carter: Yeah. His absence is felt in more ways than one. It’s hard to imagine forrester without the man himself. Hopefully, it doesn’t have to come to that.

Luna: What if it does? Who’s going to lead the company going forward?

R.J.: Hey, dad, you gotta be exhausted. I mean, you’ve been going for hours now. You’ve been going ever since granddad got admitted. Do you want to take a break, rest? I can take care of work stuff if you want.

Ridge: I know you can. No, we’re fine. It’s good. I just got to be here, make sure everything runs smoothly while my dad is fighting for his life.

R.J.: He’s going to make it. Yes? Come on. I’m not going to let myself think anything else.

Ridge: Okay.

Zende: Please don’t tell me there’s bad news about granddad.

Ridge: He’s hanging in there.

Zende: Seeing the two of you together, I just… never mind. I’m glad that he’s still with us.

R.J.: Well, dad’s been second guessing his decision he made about granddad.

Zende: You did the right thing, ridge. Can you guys believe the outpouring of support from the fashion community? I knew that granddad was admired and respected, but this is next level. Now, I’ve been thinking, we have an obligation to granddad to finish his line.

Brooke: Really? Okay. How about bridget and finn? Oh, that’s– that’s good. Well, we’re at your house, and I’m here with hope, and we’re going to just get some of your things together. Yeah, I just want to make sure everything’s okay. All right. We’ll see you as soon as we can. Love you. That’s donna. And, uh… nothing’s changed. It was a highly experimental procedure, so the recovery is going to take some time.

Hope: I know, it’s just, uh– the waiting around is the hardest part, I think, especially for aunt donna. So, katie– katie’s with her, though, right?

Brooke: Right. Yeah, for comfort and support.

Hope: Okay.

Brooke: I mean, eric has survived. It’s just… what happens next?

Hope: No one can really say.

Brooke: I know that he’s trying his hardest to be here with us, his family that loves him so much.

[Phone beeping]

Hope: Oh, is that donna again?

Brooke: Oh, yeah. She’s giving us a list of things to bring.

Hope: Okay, well, I mean, I can– I can help you put that all together. We’ll tag team it. We’ll make it easy.

Brooke: Okay. Thank you. Yeah. I appreciate your support. I need that.

Hope: Well, mom… we have to come together during times like these.

Brooke: I know.

Hope: And support each other.

Brooke: If there’s ever a time for the whole family to come together, it’s right now.

Hope: Let’s see that list.

Brooke: Okay.

Carter: I mean, things would be crazy for the foreseeable future, but I can assure you that forrester would be in good hands.

Luna: With ridge and steffy as co-ceos.

Carter: Yeah. Yeah. They’d run the company the way eric would want it run. His priorities would become theirs. And… just be sad, though, you know, no one will ever see eric’s latest designs.

Luna: What if they could, though? Like, what if somebody finished the collection for him? Zende mentioned something.

Carter: What, about finishing eric’s line?

Luna: Yeah, I mean, he hates what happened. He hates that his grandfather is not able to wrap up his final collection, and… he’s adamant on doing it for him.

Zende: Granddad has made a huge imprint on my life. I wouldn’t be the man, the designer, I am today without his influence. I’ve been studying his latest collection, his unfinished sketches. Where he was going is clear. His vision, the designs he wants to create. He just needs someone to execute it for him. What better way to honor granddad than to finish what he started? Assure that his collection is seen, is loved, is worn.

Ridge: You’re absolutely right. 100%. We have to finish it.

Zende: Great. Great. I knew that you would be as stoked about this as I am. So when can you and I get started?

Brooke: Oh.

Hope: Uh, do you think we got everything?

Brooke: I think so. But, you know, if she needs anything else, I can always just come back.

Hope: Okay, well, I’ve packed all sorts of snacks, chips, popcorn, different kinds of drinks, water, so you don’t have to keep going back to the vending machine.

Brooke: Oh, good. Thank you. I just want to get back to the hospital as soon as I can for donna. But then I also want to be there for ridge at work.

Hope: If only we could be in two different places at once.

Brooke: He’s struggling with his decision, telling finn to do this experimental treatment on eric. If it doesn’t work, it’s going to be really hard on ridge.

Hope: Yeah, he’s, um… he’s dealing with a lot right now.

Brooke: Everything that’s going on at the hospital and everything at work, keeping the company going.

Hope: Well, there’s no one more dedicated to forrester creations than ridge.

Brooke: So much so that he is insisting on finishing eric’s line.

Hope: Really?

Brooke: Yes, with R.J.

Carter: So zende wants to complete eric’s collection?

Luna: Yeah, he seemed really adamant about it, like he couldn’t wait to get started.

Carter: Wow, I’m impressed. The guy loves his grandad, huh?

Luna: Yeah, he does. But… I think there’s a little bit more to it. You know, zende was really hurt when eric didn’t ask him to help him with the fashion challenge collection. He felt slighted and overlooked.

Carter: In favor of R.J., You mean?

Luna: Yeah. And with R.J. Being ridge and brooke’s son…

Carter: Eric doesn’t play favorites.

Luna: Well, yeah, and once zende found out about eric’s condition, he came around. He seemed to understand and accept his decision. But I think that’s one of the reasons why he’s so determined on finishing eric’s line. Let’s just hope that ridge agrees.

Zende: We can do this, ridge. You and me, bringing granddad’s collection full circle. He’s already laid out the roadmap. We just have to follow it. You know what, R.J., I was thinking you could help out, too. I mean, you spent a lot of time with granddad. You absorbed his process, his designs. I’m sure you’ll have some valuable insight. Plus, you’ll get to see me and your dad in action. You’ll learn from the two of us.

Ridge: Can we have the room for a minute, please?

R.J.: Yeah, sure.

Zende: I mean it, ridge. I am fully committed to this. I know that it will take extra hours, but I’ve already been thinking about how we can tackle some of the remaining pieces and even add to them. I mean I’d love to run some of my ideas–

Ridge: Okay, slow down. Slow down. I appreciate your enthusiasm. I know how much you love granddad. And you’re right. You should work on the line. I’ll find a way where you can help R.J. And me.

Hope: So– okay, ridge asked R.J. To help complete eric’s line.

Brooke: And R.J. Accepted. I’m sure you can imagine what that meant to ridge.

Hope: Well, given how much he values working with thomas, I mean, now to be… working with R.J., Too, that’s–

Brooke: One beautiful, positive thing that has come out of eric’s situation. It’s bringing ridge and R.J. Together.

Luna: How’d it go with your dad? Any updates on your granddad?

R.J.: No, but it did have to do with my granddad. So… he wants to collaborate with me to finish granddad’s collection, which is exciting. He really wants to work with me. He thinks that much of me as a designer, and I mean, I’ve always wanted to do this. And he’s always wanted to do it, too. Right?

Zende: I am determined to work with ridge to complete .Granddad’s vision. You and R.J.?

Ridge: You know this has nothing to do with you, right? Listen, I think you’re a very talented designer.

Zende: But…?

Ridge: But R.J. Started this, so he’s got to finish.

Zende: Look, ridge, I get that you want to work with your son, but R.J. Is very green. I mean, sure, he spent the last couple of months working with granddad. That’s great. I’m sure he’s learned a lot, but that pales in comparison to me. I spent years working with granddad. Not to mention that I studied at the best design schools, I studied abroad. All the successful collections I’ve worked on here at forrester.

Ridge: I’m aware of all of that.

Zende: Good. Then you must be aware with what I can bring to the table here. I mean, my expertise and experience is fine, but I want to do this for granddad. I owe it to him for everything he’s done for me. I mean, this is likely his final collection. It has to be perfect, just as he envisioned it. Now, I’m not saying R.J. Can’t help. I mean, he can, he can learn. He can grow even more. But you and I can’t let granddad down. The stakes are too high. R.J. Will have his time. You will do collections with your son, but not this one. Not this time, not with my granddad’s final collection.

Finn: Let’s focus on the positive. Eric made it through the procedure.

Brooke: Thank god.

Ridge: He flatlined in recovery.

Bridgit: But ridge, he came back.

Ridge: Back. Is this– he may not call it that. I don’t know. Okay, fine. Walk me through it again.

Finn: Look, the procedure was going well. There was no adverse reactions from eric. I was just about to close him up when–

Bridgit: Finn, something’s wrong. Dad just started bleeding. You got to get this bleeding under control.

Finn: I couldn’t stop the bleeding.

Bridget: I thought we were gonna lose him right there on the operating table.

Finn: But bridget and I were finally able to stop the bleed. Eric stabilized and we took him off to recovery. And that’s when he crashed. Eric was gone.

Bridget: But he came back. These things just happen sometimes.

Ridge: These things just happen sometimes? He’s fighting for his life on an operating table. That shouldn’t have happened. I allowed it to happen.

Steffy: Dad, granddad’s alive. And once he recovers–

Ridge: If he recovers, steffy.

Finn: Ridge, I’m not gonna lie. Eric’s condition is critical.

Ridge: I know. He’s on a breathing tube. He’s got wires coming out of him.

Brooke: Ridge, he’s going to pull through this. We have to believe that.

Luna: Did you get any sleep last night?

Rj: No.

Luna: Thinking about eric?

Rj: Yeah. I prayed he makes a full recovery.

Luna: Well, um, what does– what does finn say?

Rj: He’s being realistic and he sounded grim, honestly. And we almost lost him last night. You know, he might not fully come back from that.

Luna: I am so sorry, rj. I know how much you love eric.

Rj: Yeah, I just can’t imagine going on without him.

Luna: Hey, well, there’s a good chance we might not have to do that. Look, I know that– that eric had to put up a good fight last night, but finn was able to start the experimental treatment and I don’t know, that could maybe help bring eric back home to us.

Rj: You know what I love about you?

Luna: What?

Rj: Your positivity.

Luna: Don’t worry, I got enough for the both of us.

Rj: So, um, are you having any second thoughts?

Luna: What? About last night?

Rj: Yeah.

Luna: No. You?

Rj: No, absolutely not. Hey, I’ll say it again. I love you.

Luna: I love you too.

Zende: Ahem! Okay to come in?

Rj: Yeah, you work here too.

Zende: I was just at the hospital.

Rj: How’s granddad?

Zende: No change. Still critical.

Luna: Were you able to see him?

Zende: Just through the window. He was there with donna, I didn’t want to interrupt them.

Rj: I feel terrible for her. I mean, they just got back together again, and now this.

Brooke: Yep. We’ll see you in a bit. Well, that was donna. She’s grabbing some things at the house so she can camp out here with eric.

Bridget: Aunt katie just texted, she’s on her way too.

Brooke: Why don’t you go home and get some sleep? You’ve been up all night.

Ridge: You know, I’ll get some sleep when dad wakes up. If he wakes up. He’s in there being kept alive by machines because of me.

Steffy: Dad, you did the right thing. Yes, granddad may have some challenges ahead, but if he comes back to us, it’ll be worth it.

Brooke: There’ll be a second chance.

Ridge: There’s no guarantees. Right, doc?

Finn: Look, I understand that this is terrifying and you feel guilty for not following eric’s wishes, but there were variables here that he was unaware of. One of them being this treatment. He has a chance now.

Ridge: There’s also a chance that he could die with a tube coming out of him. Sorry. You should just let him go peacefully. At bombas we make the comfiest socks, underwear, and t-shirts that feel good and most of all do good. Because when you purchase one, we donate one to those in need. Visit bombas.Com and get 20% off your first purchase. Bombas. Give the good.

Zende: I just don’t even understand a moment’s hesitation on ridge’s part about letting finn administer it. Instead, he wanted to take granddad off life support.

Rj: Okay. He didn’t want any of this. My dad didn’t ask to be granddad’s medical power of attorney. When he found out he was, he just wanted to do right by him. And what was that? What– what did granddad want? He didn’t want any heroics. He didn’t want to be hooked up to any machines. What about that is so hard for you to understand, man?

Zende: Well, could you have done it? Pulled the plug on your own granddad?

Rj: I don’t know. I don’t know, zende. I don’t know if I could have done that. This isn’t about me. This is about granddad trusting dad to make the right decision, okay.

Zende: Eventually. Lucky for us.

Luna: Hey, guys, this is a really difficult time for your family and for anyone who loves eric, but we have to remember what eric said to us. Remember? Be good to one another.

Zende: Okay. Thank you. But I’m still just trying to wrap my head around how ridge could be so cold. I mean, so heartless.

Rj: Cold and heartless? Are you being serious, right? Do you think he was being cold and heartless when he made the most tortured decision of his life? He wanted to do right by his dad. He wanted to do what he wished, which was no heroics, no machines. He didn’t want his dad to suffer, zende.

Zende: Yeah, none of us do. But to end it like that? To take him off the machines? To take away granddad’s only chance of recovery.

Rj: First of all, he said yes to the experimental treatment, so I don’t even know why we’re having this conversation. And second of all, if he would have done that, if he would have turned off the machines, I think it would have been an act of mercy. I think it would have been an act of love because that is what granddad wanted. That was what he wished for. And if my dad fulfilled that, he would have been honoring his father.

Ridge: It’s not fair, you know. Should’ve just let him go.

Brooke: Death isn’t the only possibility here. This treatment could give him a shot at getting his life back. How could you not take it?

Steffy: Brooke’s right. Granddad didn’t know there’d be another option after his disease took over. His wishes might have been different.

Finn: Exactly. Look, I knew the clock was ticking. I tried to beat it. I wanted to be able to present this treatment to eric so he could make the decision. I was just too late.

Bridget: Wait, hold on. That better not be blaming yourself for any of this. If my father survives, it will be because of this.

Ridge: This is not about survival.

Bridget: Ridge–

Ridge: No. It’s about quality of life. You know it is. You know what he wants. You know what he wants that to be and if he doesn’t have it, he doesn’t want to be here. You know that. There’s no guarantees it’s gonna be like that. That’s what you said.

Finn: Yeah. Guarantees are rare in my line of work. This treatment could work.

Bridget: Well, forgive me if I want to be selfish and I want my dad to stick around. I’m really grateful that you made that decision. I would have made the same choice.

Steffy: Same here.

Brooke: Stop being so hard on yourself. Everything you’ve done is out of love for your father ever since you found out he was sick.

Ridge: You know what I keep thinking about? He passed over. Maybe that’s what he wanted. Maybe he was at peace there. What do we do? We– we– we did this treatment. Pulled him back in. Treatment that we don’t even know if it’s gonna work. Here’s what we do know. This man is stuck in his body in there. He’s trapped in it. Maybe for the rest of his days. Because of me.

Steffy: You must be exhausted. You’ve been nonstop ever since my grandfather was brought in.

Finn: I just want to see him pull through.

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: How are you holding up?

Steffy: I mean, it’s been a lot. Pretending that we didn’t know my grandfather was dying and then he just collapses right in front of us. We almost lost him. But now, there’s hope. Because of you. I– I can’t believe you’ve been working day and night trying to find a way to save my grandfather.

Finn: I just wanted to help, you know? Give it a shot. I just wish I would have figured it out sooner.

Steffy: What matters is that you’re giving my grandfather another chance. And we couldn’t be more grateful.

Finn: I just hope I’ve done enough to give eric back to you. Your family. Healthy and– healthy and whole.

Steffy: Yeah.

Luna: Hey, guys, this is an emotional time for everyone, okay? We should be supporting each other.

Rj: Listen, I– I don’t want to argue with you, but I’m not gonna allow you to make judgments about my father without defending him. I’m not gonna let that happen.

Zende: No. Fair enough. I’ll keep my opinions to myself.

Rj: Great.

Zende: I’m just so worried about granddad.

Rj: Yeah. So am I. I really hope this– this treatment works.

Zende: And nothing will be better.

Luna: Yeah, guys, this is the positivity that we need, okay? We just have to picture him strong and vital, just like he was when he was working on the collection.

Zende: I hate to think of it as unfinished. It should be out there in the world. One last masterpiece from the master.

[ Phone chiming ]

Ridge: You didn’t have to come all the way back here. I know you’re gonna be at the hospital with donna.

Brooke: I’ll go back there. I just want to make sure that you’re okay. I know that you’re struggling with the decision that you made.

Ridge: I just had to be here for a minute, you know. When dad comes back– when he comes– if he comes back, what if he’s not the same person? I just want to be here in this office. He spent the best years of his life here. And now, he’s in a hospital bed. And you know, I– I think about it all the time. Did I make the right choice? Letting finn do what he’s doing.

Brooke: Yes, you did. You are giving eric a second chance. Think about it ridge. When he comes back to us, he’s going to be so happy.

Ridge: Yeah?

Brooke: Yeah.

Rj: Hey. I got your uh, text. Is there any change with granddad?

Ridge: No.

Brooke: I’m gonna leave you two. If you need me, I’ll be at the hospital.

Ridge: Okay.

Brooke: Bye, honey.

Rj: Bye.

Brooke: Love you.

Ridge: It’s kind of nice walking in here, huh? Seeing how concerned everybody is. Everybody loves your granddad. But I gotta think, maybe they’re concerned about something else as well.

Rj: What? What do you mean?

Ridge: This company is the most important thing in your granddad’s life?

Rj: Definitely. What– what are you getting at?

Ridge: Well, in his absence, we got to find a way to keep it going. I’m gonna do that and I want you by my side. Rich chocolate candy and creamy caramel. That’

Finn: Okay. Um, thanks for the update. Call me if it does. No change in your grandfather’s condition.

Steffy: So, is that good or bad?

Finn: Unfortunately, only time will tell. I mean, it– it’s frustrating. I mean you’d think I’d be better at waiting by now. But, well, eric isn’t just another patient. He’s– he’s your grandfather. He’s– he’s family.

Steffy: Ever since we found out that my grandfather was sick, you– you’ve been working away trying to save him. And I love you so much for that, but it’s out of your hands now. Know that you’ve done everything in your power to try to save him. And I’ll never thank you enough for that.

Zende: You said you were always into fashion?

Luna: Yeah. Ever since I was a little girl.

Zende: What lit the spark?

Luna: Uh, my mom’s magazines. I mean, most of them would feature lifestyles that we could only dream of, but that was okay because my mom and I were dreamers. She loved art and music, but I gravitated more towards fashion. I mean, I taught myself about all the different designers, but forrester creations is the house that spoke to me the most.

Zende: And here you are.

Luna: Yeah. I mean, I still have to pinch myself. It was crazy just knowing that I was in the same building as eric forrester, but being able to help him put together a new collection? I mean, that’S… this experimental treatment has to work, zende.

Zende: We’ll do what you said and keep sending him love and light and positivity.

Luna: Yeah.

Zende: You know, it’s so touching how much you care about him.

Luna: Well, yeah, you can’t know eric and not love him.

Zende: True that. Granddad, I mean, he was always topping himself. He was still on a roll. I mean, look at this. This is exquisite, even unfinished.

Luna: He was constantly sketching, right up until the party. But he’s always full of ideas.

Zende: I intend to do whatever it takes to finish granddad’s collection.

Rj: What are you saying?

Ridge: Well, you know, better than anyone what this collection means to dad. It might be his best one. It may also be his last one. So, if it is– if this is his swan song, I wanna make sure everyone hears it.

Rj: So, what do you– you– you’re saying you just want to take what we have now and you want to display it somewhere?

Ridge: No. No, I don’T. I– I wanna finish it. I wanna finish his vision.

Rj: That’s admirable.

Ridge: Yeah. You think it’s worth doing?

Rj: Well, yeah. Absolutely.

Ridge: Me too. So, here’s the problem. I don’t know his vision because I wasn’t in the room. You were. So, what do you think? Father and son, you want to finish this collection?

Rj: Yeah.

Ridge: Yeah?

Rj: Yeah. Absolutely.

Ridge: You and me.

Rj: You and me, yeah.

Ridge: Okay. You and me. We’re gonna make granddad proud.

Bridget: Finn. Finn, something’s wrong.

Finn: He’s hemorrhaging. I need the cautery pen. He’s already lost enough blood as it is.

Bridget: Hold on.

Finn: Damn it. Increase T.X.A. To 500 milligrams go again

Bridget: Finn, it’s not working.

Finn: I’m trying to find the source. Can you clamp?

Bridget: Clamp.

Nurse: Vitals are dropping.

Bridget: Dad, stay with us. Stay with us. You’re gonna be okay.

Finn: Can’t stop the bleeding.

Nicholas: Pressure’s dropping.

Finn: 10 mg of ephedrine.

Nicholas: Okay.

Bridget: Just keep going. Just keep fighting, dad.

Nurse: Patient is hypoxic and tachycardia.

Finn: Come on, eric. Come on, eric.

Bridget: We can’t lose him. Finn, we cannot lose my father

Thorne: They almost lost him.

Donna: Don’t worry, he’s going to make it through and then they come. And everything’s gonna be okay.

Ridge: I only did what I thought dad would want to do for himself.

Steffy: We know.

Brooke: Eric trusted you with this, ridge. This is a huge responsibility. It would have been difficult for any of us to make that decision.

Thorne: No, brooke, I don’t think donna and i would have hesitated to tell finn to try the surgery. To try anything for that matter.

Ridge: You heard him right?

He had made his peace.

Donna: Because he didn’t know, ridge. He didn’t know what finn was working on. He didn’t know that there was a way out of this.

Ridge: A way what? I’m sorry, dad may never be the same again. ‘Cause if you’re willing to do anything. You’ve gotta be prepared for anything, maybe we should’ve just let him go.

Bridget: We gotta get this bleeding under control.

Finn: I’m trying.

Bridget: We can’t sustain this.

Finn: We are not giving up.

Bridget: We cannot lose my father, finn.

R.J.: What is it? Why are you being so shy? Show me.

Luna: I don’t know, it’s just– it’s weirding me out. Because I wanted to do something nice, okay? And in the moment I thought it was, but now I just– I don’t know,

R.J.: Just show it to me. I don’T…

Luna: I wanted you to have something. It’s just, it’s a– it’s a really special memory.

R.J.: Of what?

Luna: I know that your grandfather is fighting for his life right now at the hospital. So I just– I hope that you don’t think this is inappropriate. I–

R.J.: It’s not at all. Thank you. Thank you.

R.J.: When did you take this?

Luna: Right before the fashion challenge. Um, I don’t know. You and your grandfather were just so in sync. I just wanted to capture the moment. I didn’t– I didn’t realize at the time how– how special this photo would end up being.

R.J.: No, this is… this was a really special moment. Thank you. You always seem to know exactly what I need. It’s okay.

Steffy: Look dad, I know you’re struggling with this. But it isn’t good to second guess. You did the right thing.

Ridge: Did I? Or was I just too much of a coward to give him what he asked for?

Steffy: I have faith in my husband. His ability as a doctor. I really believe granddad is going to pull through.

Donna: I really hope so. Because I don’t know what I’d do if he doesn’T.

Thorne: And I am not ready to say goodbye.

Brooke: Well, steffy’s right. Eric is in good hands. And bridget is in there watching over him too. So we need to just focus on that. Just stay positive. There’s nothing else we can do for him right now. So, at least we can do that, right?

Donna: Yeah.

Nurse: His vitals.

Finn: We see.

Nurse: I’m calling for extra support.

Bridget: Keep fighting, dad.

Finn: His numbers are too low.

Bridget: Come on, dad. You can do this. You can beat this.

Finn: Come on, eric. Pull through this.

Bridget: Clamp.

At target, save $10

when you spend $50 on toys.

There was a love

R.J.: I’m glad I got this time with him. Helping him. You know, with his collection. Thank you for capturing this. Seriously.

Luna: Yeah, I can make a copy if you want. And I can frame it for your grandfather. And we can give it to him once he gets out of the hospital.

R.J.: That’d be awesome.

Luna: Yeah, you two made quite a team.

R.J.: We did. We did. You know it was fun. And then it got even better when you came along. For sure. It was– that was fun. Wasn’t it? It was– it was fun being in– in granddad’s living room and you know working on that collection, right?

Luna: Yeah. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. But you wanna know what my favorite part was?

R.J.: Yeah?

Luna: It was getting to see you rise to the challenge. I mean, you really came through for your grandfather.

R.J.: Yeah, I like– I– I tried. I did– I did my best. I– I– you know, the whole experience definitely helped me find the inner designer, I guess. That I have, I don’t know… it really helped me find my calling.

Luna: Yeah. I think so too.

R.J.: You know, I didn’t, um… I didn’t really feel like I belonged before. Here, especially, you know, I didn’t really feel like I had a sense. Or– or a purpose and then I– I met you and everything’s really clicked in since then. Seriously. I don’t really feel like that was uh… that was an accident.

Donna: Why is this taking so long? Why?

Thorne: That could be a good sign, though. Or a bad one.

Brooke: Hey, I said we’re thinking positively and I meant it.

Thorne: Well, in terms of signs that can’t be good.

Donna: Oh my god. I hope something–

Steffy: They could be headed anywhere.

Ridge: Excuse me? Is there something going on in the O.R.?

Nurse: There’s been a complication.

Donna: Complication? What do you mean? Complication?

Nurse: Some unexpected bleeding. All I know is–

Thorne: Will he be okay?

Steffy: Is he gonna make it?

Nurse: Dr. Finnegan and dr. Forrester are doing all they can. I’m sure one of them will be out to update you soon.

Ridge: This is exactly what I didn’t want. Is this how it ends? Dad struggling and fighting on an operating table.

Nurse: The pressure’s still dropping.

Finn: Let’s add norepinephrine.

Nicholas: On it.

Bridget: I need an extra set of hands here. Here. Put pressure right there. Right there. Put it– put it in. Take the suction. Do you see it?

Finn: That’s it right there. Clamp. Let’s get a clamp. Clamp it. Right there.

Bridget: Got it. Got it, got it.

Finn: Right there. Fine. There you go.

Bridget: I think we got it. Oh, thank god.

Finn: Nice job.

Bridget: You too, doctor. I never thought we were gonna get that bleeding to stop.

Finn: Well, you’re the one that did it. All right. Let’s go 3-o suture. Let’s close him up and update everyone.

Bridget I– I know there are no guarantees. But this would have never ever happened without you. I know that. Thank you for trying to save my dad’s life.

Finn: I couldn’t let eric give up. He’s too important to us all. We’ve done our part. Now we wait, the rest is up to him.

For your most brilliant smile,

crest has you covered. (Laughing) nice smile, brad.

Luna: Is this okay?

R.J.: Is what okay?

Luna: Um, well, I’m– I’m just an intern here. And I know how lucky I am to have my foot in the door. Especially at forrester. I mean, seriously, I know how much of a big deal this is for me. I just… I don’t want to do anything that’s gonna jeopardize my position here or– or my future career. You know, I– I wanna be the best intern that I can be. So I guess I just, um… I, sometimes– I get concerned.

R.J.: What? What are you concerned– are you concerned about us?

Luna: Um, when I look at you I just want you to be kissing me and holding me and just never letting me go. Look, I’ve– I’ve never had a serious boyfriend or anything like that. You know, I– I always just I– I– I stayed focused on school and I, I figured that, you know, if I waited the right guy would… you’re the right guy, R.J.

Bridget: Great job, dad.

Finn: Five star patient.

Bridget: Yes, sir.

Nurse: I’ll take him up to recovery. I know you guys have family you wanna see.

Bridget: I appreciate that. Thank you very much.

Finn: We gotta be careful, bridget. Not to make promises. Yes, your dad survived the surgery but I don’t want to undersell how difficult his recovery might be.

Bridget: I agree. I agree. There are no guarantees here. I’m just so grateful he got his chance now. We could have lost him today. We’ll see you really soon, dad. Right now, we have some good news to go share.

Finn: Okay. Great work, everyone. All right. Thank you.

Bridget: Thank you.

Thorne: Unexpected bleeding? What does that even mean?

Steffy: Whatever’s happening, finn can handle it.

Brooke: Eric will survive this. He will.

Donna: I– I just pray that we get to see him again.

Ridge: I hope so.

Steffy: Finn, we heard something went wrong.

Thorne: Is dad okay? Did he pull through?

Donna: Please tell me he’s still with us.

Finn: There was a complication but we handled it. Actually bridget was the one who was able to stop the bleeding. But eric survived the surgery.

Steffy: Oh, my god.

Bridge: Dad pulled through.

Donna: Thank god

Bridget: All the credit goes to finn. You should see him in the operating room. He’s exceptional.

Ridge: So he’s– he’s fine? He’s not in danger anymore?

Finn: He made it through the procedure. I mean, that’s the first step. From here. It’s a waiting game. All we can do is wait and see. Luna: God, I’m making such a fool out of myself. This is not about me. You’re worried about your grandfather

R.J.: You– you are not making a fool out of yourself. Thank you for being here for me. Okay?

Luna: Are you kidding me? I’m the one that should be thanking you. I mean, you’ve taught me so much about the fashion industry.

R.J.: And you’ve taught me something so much more important.

Luna: What’s that?

R.J.: How to love someone in a way I haven’t before. I mean, I– I love my family. I love my parents, but this… this is really new to me too. And I– I– I never wanna lose it. Ever. What?

Luna: Ditto.

R.J.: Ditto?

Luna: R.J., Please. Okay? I’ve– I’ve never expressed my feelings like this or opened myself up like this. Okay? I’m trying.

R.J.: Okay.

Luna: Oh. I remember the first moment that I saw you. I was walking into the forrester estate and you turned and you looked at me and I swear to god. I mean, I think I lost my breath for a second. Just your smile and your eyes and just the kindness in them. And I still feel this way whenever I’m around you. Like, seriously right now, I’m struggling to breathe. Um, I don’t– I don’t know what they call it. Actually, I do. I love you.

Ridge: Wait and see. That’s all you got for us?

Steffy: Dad.

Finn: Yeah. Ridge, we wait. We hope and we pray that after this surgery, eric makes a full recovery.

Bridget: We send him love and light. That’s all we can do

Bridget: Dad, stay with us. Do not– finn.

Stephanie: Eric, sweetheart? Hello. I’ve missed you so much. Eric, it’s going to be alright. It’s going to be okay. Everything’s going to be fine. Everyone’s been praying for you. Oh, my god, I can’t believe this. Home, sweetheart. You’re here. You’re home. You’re safe. You’re home. Oh, my god, I can’t believe this. Home, sweetheart. You’re here. You’re home. You’re safe. You’re home.

Ridge: Dad gave me his medical power of attorney. I have to do what he wants.

Steffy: He didn’t know there might be a treatment.

Ridge: It’s an experimental treatment.

Donna: It– it could work, ridge. It could work.

Brooke: This is a chance. A chance that eric didn’t realize he had when he said he was ready to go.

Ridge: Either a man is ready to go or he’s not. And he said he was. You all heard him. Finn, thank you for your research. I want to go see my dad. It– it’s time to turn off the life support.

Rj: I thought being here would make me feel closer to granddad, but I’ve never felt further away.

Luna: Hey.

Rj: What?

Luna: It’s okay to be scared for him, okay?

Rj: Well, I just– I knew this day was coming, but I didn’t know it was going to come so soon. This might really be the end.

[ Knock on door ]

Luna: Hey, mom.

Poppy: I got your text. I thought you two might want some coffee while you wait for some news.

Rj: Thank you. That’s– that’s so kind of you. I appreciate it.

Poppy: I’m so sorry about your grandfather.

Steffy: We can’t just give up on him, dad. Granddad still has a chance to live.

Ridge: What’s the chance, steffy? One in a million, one in a thousand? What’s the number?

Donna: Well, better than no chance at all?

Ridge: I’d love more than anything to have my dad go back to the office and finish his collection. I would love that. That’s not the way this day is playing out, is it? He asked me to make this decision. Maybe to save you the agony. I don’t know. But please, look at me. Let me make it. You’ve all said your piece. Just– I’m sorry.

Donna: Oh, my god.

Donna: Um, can I please have a minute with him? Thank you. Eric. Eric darling. Can you hear me? I don’t even know what’s happening with you right now. But– but you’re here. You’re here. Do you hear me? You’re still with us. Can you hear me? Oh, god. Ridge says that we have to let you go, but I’m not ready for that, eric. My god, we fought so hard to be together. My god, I waited for you. I was so patient. But I would have waited forever. Forever. Eric… I didn’t give up on you then and I’m– I’m not giving up on you now. You cannot give up on us, eric. Do not give up. Want the power of 5 serum benefits in 1? New olay super serum activates on skin to hydrate, smooth, visibly firm, brighten, and improve texture.

Steffy: Dad, finn has been working nonstop to find a way. With this new procedure, this transplant–

Ridge: Steffy. Steffy.

Steffy: It could save granddad.

Ridge: I don’t want to cause him any more pain.

Finn: Look, I understand where you’re coming from. Ridge, this is an extremely difficult decision to make as a family, but are you absolutely sure about this? Because if– if we do want to proceed with the treatment, time is of the essence.

Donna: I don’t– I don’t want to see you in any pain, my love, but I’m not ready for this. Ridge says that, uh, that we have to let you go. To give you up. But I’m not ready for that. I’m not ready for that. Remember when you, uh, you told me that you weren’t ready to give up on our adventure together? Remember you just said that to me? I’m not ready to give up on that either. So please, please, come back to me. Come back to me.

Luna: Update from the hospital?

Rj: No. Um, just thomas asking me if I’ve heard anything.

Poppy: I’m so sorry this is happening, rj. I know I haven’t had the pleasure of knowing your grandfather, but luna thinks very highly of him.

Luna: Yeah. He’s an extraordinary man.

Rj: No one like him.

Poppy: I’m aware of his reputation. His status in the fashion world. But, you know, since luna has been working here, I’ve heard about his kindness, his humor, his devotion to his family and the respect for the people he works with.

Rj: He wanted to keep living up until the last second. I’m– I’m– I don’t think I’m ever gonna have a teacher better than him.

Poppy: No matter what happens, it sounds like he lived a very full and wonderful life.

Finn: We’re running out of time, ridge. We need a decision.

Ridge: I made the decision. I made it. And I’m gonna have to live with it for the rest of my life. Why are we debating this? Why? I’m gonna go see my dad. It’s time. Talk to him. Tell him you love him. Tell him we’re gonna be okay. Because we’re a family. We’re his family. Tell him goodbye.

Donna: Eric, honey bear. Your family’s here and, um, they wanna spend some time with you. I’ll always love you, honey bear. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Steffy: Dad, please. Please. I know how much you love granddad, but if we have a chance to make this better.

Ridge: A chance to make it better? What are you– how could it be better than this? We had a party. We got to drink champagne. We got to celebrate this legend of a man and he was so happy. His family was there and I don’t know if you saw, but he got to spend a special moment with every person there. Like he said, it was his time. That he was ready. And he told us to be kind to one another. I can’t think of a better way to cross this bridge to whatever the next chapter is. I don’t– I don’t know. What are you proposing? What are you saying? Huh? We’re gonna roll him out of here. We’re gonna cut him open? Prod him and then clean his blood. Do some kind of transplant on him, with no guarantee. I have no guarantee other than he’s gonna be in pain. He’s gonna suffer. I don’t want him to suffer. So, I made a decision– no, I– mm. He made the decision. He decided that he’s gonna go on his terms. And we should all try to respect that.

Steffy: You did everything you could.

[ Steffy exhaling ] Oh, granddad. So many things I wish I said to you. So many questions I wish I asked. I just always imagined you’d be there for kelly and hayes like you were for me. You’re helping me through life, steering me in the right direction. God, this is so hard. This is really hard. But I know you’re gonna be there watching over us. So, we’ll be all right. I know that you’re gonna be in me. Always. Oh, granddad. Oh, I love you.

Brooke: Eric… we all just love you so much. And losing you is going to leave a huge hole in our hearts and our lives. But you know what? We’re gonna do the best we can to fill it with laughter and love. Love for you. Love for each other. It’s gonna be really hard to say goodbye, but ridge thinks he’s doing the right thing. He’s doing what you want, eric. I still remember the first night that I walked into your house and I got to meet the love of my life. My soul mate. And I got to meet you too. The kindest man ever. And everybody in your orbit felt the same way. You have so much love to offer everybody and so much support and encouragement. And so much light. That’s what you are. You’re just– you’re like light from the sun, eric. You are. And I don’t know what I’m gonna do without you. You’ve made this world a better place. I just love you so much. I love you.

Ridge: Well… I’m gonna give you what you asked for. You don’t make it easy. It’s not supposed to be easy, is it? You were strong for me. You’ve been strong for all of us for so long and it’s time for us to be strong for you. Go be with mom. With phoebe. Be at peace. It’s okay, dad. It’s okay to let go.

[ Somber music ]

Donna: Oh, my god. Eric.

Brooke: Wait. Did you see that?

Steffy: He was trying to open his eyes. Dad, dad, you have to stop. You have to stop. He’s in there.

Donna: Eric, please.

Brooke: Eric, please.

Finn: Ridge, you have the medical power of attorney appointed by eric. And I can’t imagine how hard this is for you, but you are the one that’s gonna have to make this decision. So, do we go all out and try to save eric? Again, with no certainty of the outcome. Or do we transfer eric to comfort care and let him go?

Ridge: I love my dad so much. Too much to put him through all this. We gotta let him go.

Donna: Huh?

Finn: That’s your decision as eric’s medical power of attorney?

Ridge: Let me ask you something. What– what are you suggesting is experimenting on my dad. Cleansing his blood and giving him the transplant?

Finn: It’s– it’s a lot to absorb my–

Ridge: You don’t know if it’s gonna work. There’s no guarantees. That’s what you said. So, he might just die on the table?

Donna: No.

Ridge: Or be hooked to machines for the rest of his days?

Donna: Or maybe he could just pull through, ridge.

Steffy: Dad, the procedure could be a success.

Brooke: He is still alive, ridge. And maybe we have a chance to keep him that way.

Donna: I’m begging you. I’m begging you. If you love your father, you would give him a chance.

Ridge: If I love my father? Is that what you said? I don’t want to put him through any more pain. I want him to go peacefully.

Zende: Why haven’t we heard anything about granddad? Anything from thorne or bridget?

Hope: No, not yet. But I– I don’t think we should bother them right now. I wanted to give them a little bit of time.

Zende: It feels like we’re being left in the dark here.

Carter: We’re not in the dark. For all we know, eric is still alive and god willing, he still has time left.

Hope: But at the same time, I think we should be realistic and just prepare ourselves. I mean, you heard bridget. She’s not sure that there’s much that can be done for him now.

Zende: I don’t believe that. Granddad doesn’t quit. He’ll fight until there’s no fight left in him.

Thomas: Unless there is no fight left in him.

Zende: One of granddad’s latest sketches. Eric forrester’s full creative genius on display.

Hope: Well, whatever happens to him, I mean, his work and his legacy will live on.

Carter: Ah. I can’t stop thinking about your dad, thomas. It’s a difficult position ridge can find himself in.

Thomas: With granddad giving dad full medical power of attorney?

Carter: If a decision needs to be made about eric’s future and he can’t make it himself.

Hope: I suppose that decision falls on ridge.

Donna: Let me get this straight. Finn is offering your father a way out and you are refusing to– to even consider it?

Ridge: I did consider it.

Donna: Oh, no. No, you didn’t consider it long enough if this is your answer, ridge. What?

Steffy: Dad, if granddad has any chance at all, we should be fighting for him. We can’t just let him die.

Ridge: Steffy, that’s– that’s not– my dad made it very clear to the people that knew about his condition that when the day would come, he didn’t want any– any extraordinary means. Am I right about that?

Donna: It’s not fair.

Ridge: Am I right about that?

Donna: Yes.

Ridge: He wanted to live his life until he couldn’t and then go.

Donna: No, I can– I can– I can’t accept that. I can’t accept that. Ridge, I’m begging you. I’m begging you not to let this be the end of your father. I’m begging you. Please. Like many women over 40, I’m starting to get more dark spots. That is crazy.

Thomas: Okay. So, if granddad never mentioned anything about this to dad.

Carter: The medical power of attorney?

Thomas: Yeah.

Carter: No, he knew ridge would have a million questions.

Zende: Questions granddad wouldn’t want ridge asking.

Thomas: Right. But granddad always wanted the focus to be on living, not dying, and that’s something I respect the hell out of. But if granddad never regains consciousness, if they say that there’s no hope for him, then this is probably what they’re discussing right now.

Carter: Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Thomas: I just– I can’t fathom my father having to make this kind of decision. Having medical power of attorney and having to decide whether his father lives or dies.

Zende: We can’t let granddad die. We owe it to him to fight for him.

Hope: Okay, I agree, but it has to be a life worth living. A healthy fulfilling life. One that we know eric would want to live.

Steffy: Finn, tell my dad again. Tell him about the treatment.

Ridge: Experimental treatment.

Steffy: Finn, do you think you could save my grandfather?

Finn: Okay. Look, I– I just wanna make something clear. I am not just speaking as a doctor here, but as steffy’s husband and a member of this family, who all love eric.

Donna: Yes, we know you and you wouldn’t be telling us about this life-saving procedure if– if you didn’t believe in it.

Finn: Well, ridge is right. It’s an experimental procedure and there are numerous risks involved.

Brooke: We understand that, but what donna is trying to say is–

Finn: No, look, that being said, yes, I believe that this could make a change in eric, all right. I’ve been working on this ever since I found out about his diagnosis. But, and donna, this is a very big but, I would be giving you all false hope if I told you this treatment would assure eric the quality of life that he is accustomed to.

Ridge: Are you hearing that? Quality of life. My dad was very specific about the quality of life that he wanted.

Donna: What? So– so– so– so what? That just means you’re going to give up, ridge? What? Are you just gonna stand there and play– play god and dictate whether your father lives or dies?

Ridge: That’s really unfair.

Donna: Is it?

Ridge: I get you’re heartbroken. Look around for a second. You think you’re the only one? You’re not. You think I like this? You think I wanna do this? I don’T. I wanna go home with my dad and have a drink with him. Have a nice martini with him. But I can’t do that. You know why? Because he’s hooked up to 10,000 machines in there. If he were out here looking at himself, he wouldn’t want this either. But he doesn’t have a voice. But he gave me a voice. And I don’t– I don’t want this for him. I know this is hard. Not just for you. I want him to go. I don’t want him to be in pain anymore.

Steffy: Dad, I hear what you’re saying. No one wants granddad to suffer. But think about finn and me. We were shot. We were left to die. If it weren’t for you. If it weren’t for every–

Ridge: Steffy. Steffy. That’s not the same thing. Grandad’s not a young man anymore.

Donna: Okay. Fine, fine. His odds aren’t the best. But– but he has a chance, ridge. And if we just ignore that, the chances, he’s–

Brooke: Nobody is ignoring anything. This is difficult for ridge. He’s in a dreadful position.

Ridge: I’m gonna go see my dad.

Thomas: This office always meant so much to granddad. It’s where he built his empire. It’s where he made his mark. It’s also where he kept a jar of jelly beans. It was called a secret stash. Top right drawer. And it was only there for me and my sisters.

Hope: Well, it looks like it’s right back where it belongs.

Thomas: Yes. I always get the blue one.

Zende: I don’t think I’ve seen granddad happier than when he reclaimed his office after the fashion challenge. He looked so proud to be back behind his desk.

Carter: Yeah. And getting his beloved stapler back.

Hope: Eric forrester shaped the course of fashion.

Zende: And our lives. Mine for sure. I’m a designer because granddad believed in me.

Carter: Boy, did you shine, zende. You’ve made eric very proud. The whole family has. And we could see just how much at the party, right?

Thomas: He’s proud of you too, carter.

Carter: I owe eric so much. He’s a man none of us want to lose.

Ridge: This isn’t right. All these tubes coming in and out of him. What is– what– this is– it’s breathing for him? This is what’s keeping him alive? That thing? Dad wouldn’t want this.

Eric: When the time comes, I want to go naturally and peacefully. Promise me that, my son. Promise me that.

Ridge: It’s time. It’s time to say goodbye.

Hope: Eric is and always will be very, very special to me, but he is your grandfather and I know how difficult this must be for you.

Thomas: You know, ever since I found out granddad was dying, it didn’t seem real. I mean, I– I– I know he’s not gonna live forever. But this is too soon.

Hope: It always is when you lose someone you love.

Thomas: Yeah. He was, uh, he was always there for me, you know. He always wanted the best for me. That doesn’t mean he didn’t scare me straight a few times because– because he did, but I never doubted whether he loved me or wanted the best for me and… and now, just thinking he might not be around…

Hope: I know it’s not the same, but you have me. I’m here for you, thomas.

Donna: I don’t know if you can hear me, honey bear? You’re so strong. You’re so strong and you’re such a fighter. And I’m gonna fight for you because you can’t fight for yourself right now.

Brooke: Donna. Look, I’m not sure I agree with ridge on this, but we all know how much he loves his father. And he’s just trying to do what he believes is best.

Donna: Don’t you tell me what is best for eric. Don’t you dare? I have been with him 24/7 now for months. For months! And I know what he would want. He’d wanna be with his family. He’d wanna be here right now with us. He would want to finish his collection with rj. That’s what he would want.

Steffy: Dad, I think donna’s right. I think that’s what– what granddad would want.

Ridge: I agree. Donna is right. But who’s offering that? Not finn. He made it very clear there are no guarantees. It could end just like this, or worse.

Steffy: That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. If there’s a chance, we should be doing everything we possibly can to keep him here.

Donna: God, just, please. Listen to your daughter if you’re not going to listen to me, ridge. Please. Please.

Ridge: I am listening to you. I’m listening to all of you ’cause I’m trying to figure this out, so help me. My dad collapsed today. And if it hadn’t been for doctors and paramedics, he wouldn’t be here right now and he was okay with that. He made his peace with that. Now, you told me I was trying to play god. What are you doing? This experimental treatment? Isn’t– isn’t that playing god? Modern medicine is amazing. It saves lives. But what if that life doesn’t want to be saved? My dad doesn’t want this. He told me he didn’t want it. He told you he didn’t want this. But here we are. Finn, I– I love that you’re part of this family. I love that you’re trying to change the course of something, but I don’t want you using my dad as some human experiment. I don’t want him to suffer. And what did you say? You said– you said you’ve been with him 24/7 for months? I’ve been with my dad forever. You know what I want? I want him to leave this earth with some dignity. Don’t you? That’s my decision.

Doctor: What’s the latest?

Paramedic: Bp 90 over 60. Pulse still thready.

Doctor: Get him into room three, stat. I’m sorry, I need you to stay out here.

Donna: No, no, no, I’m his– I’m– I’m his partner.

Doctor: The nurse will let you know when you can see him.

Donna: Doctor, doctor, please just tell me.

Doctor: Please let us– let us do our job.

Donna: Is he gonna make it?

Doctor: Someone stay with her.

Donna: No, please, please, please. Oh, god.

Bridget: This is dr. Forrester. I need to speak to my nurse about eric forrester as soon as possible, please.

Zende: I can’t believe granddad collapsed.

Thomas: Okay, this isn’t the first time though, right? I mean, granddad has collapsed before.

Katie: Yes, but he’s never lost consciousness for this long.

Hope: Has anyone heard from donna?

Katie: I’ve been texting her, but she’s not getting back to me.

Bridget: Okay. Thank you. He has been admitted, but he has not regained consciousness.

Thorne: Okay, I’m not waiting any longer. I’m going to the hospital.

Thomas: Yeah. Me too.

Bridget: Wait, hold on you guys. I know everyone wants to be there. We all do, but we need to give the doctors and the nurses space so that they can help him. We can’t all go.

Steffy: This can’t be the end for granddad. I’m not ready to say goodbye.

Donna: Oh, god. Please, god. Please save him. Save him. Please. Give us a miracle, please. Oh, my god, please.

Thorne: Any news?

Bridget: The attending doctor and nurses are with daddy. He’s still unconscious. His pulse is thready.

Hope: Thready? What–

Bridget: It just means it’s weak. I mean, I’ll be honest, it does not– it’s not good.

Steffy: God.

Thomas: Steff, what is it?

Steffy: I’m trying to get a hold of finn. I still can’t reach him. No, I’m– I’m sick of this. I’m heading to the hospital.

Nurse: Yes. May I help you?

Ridge: I’m looking for eric forrester.

Donna: Brooke, ridge. Hi. Oh, thank you.

Ridge: Hey. How is he?

Donna: Thank you. I– I– I don’t know. He’s– he’s in there. He’s still unconscious, I think. They didn’t say anything.

Doctor: Excuse me. Are– are you all here for eric forrester?

Ridge: I’m his son.

Doctor: I’m the attending doctor. I’ve been examining your father.

Ridge: Is he gonna survive this?

Doctor: I honestly can’t say. We’re doing everything we can, but your father’s condition is extremely critical.

Donna: I– I– I’m with you now. I’m just fatigued.

Thomas: Bridge. Still nothing?

Bridget: I just texted with the nurses. No update.

Zende: I can’t take it anymore. This waiting is killing me.

Bridget: I know, I know, it’s killing all of us, but we just– we have to wait, it’s all we can do. And pray for a miracle.

Rj: This party was a bad idea. We should– we shouldn’t have done this, right? He should have been resting. He should have been conserving his energy.

Hope: But eric was so happy. I mean, he was surrounded by family, which is what he wanted.

Carter: Almost. I was really worried when eric figured out that ridge won the fashion challenge and not him.

Rj: It made sense though, right? I mean, you know, it wasn’t a small gesture for dad to give granddad the win. He had to cancel the line. It was a line that he’d worked on for months. He had to give him the chair. I mean, yeah, he could– he could have felt betrayed, but instead, you know, he– he realized how much his son was willing to sacrifice for him and it showed him how much he loved him, right?

Bridget: Yeah. I just wish it was the same when he realized that we all knew his secret.

Thomas: How could we though? He’s always so hard to read. I mean, even at the end, he was laughing.

Bridget: Yeah. He was.

Thorne: Well, whatever he was feeling, I doubt it was joy.

Katie: You don’t know that.

Hope: Well, it was the last thing that happened before he collapsed. And now, he’s in the hospital, fighting for his life.

Doctor: Any changes?

Nurse: No.

Doctor: Will you go check on the panels? I want to give the family a moment. Go ahead. It’s just family.

Donna: Thank you.

Doctor: Let him know you’re here.

Ridge: Thank you, doctor.

Donna: Eric, are you there? It’s me, donna. Can you hear me? Eric, please, I’m not ready to lose you yet. Please come back to me. You’re the kindest, sweetest man I know. Please, I need you. I need you, eric.

[ Donna cries ]

Brooke: Eric… you and I, we go way back. We have created such an incredible bond. I can’t imagine you not here. Not in our lives. You know what? You have been there for me. You have supported me. You have championed me. And I love you for that. And I am going to do the same thing. I’m gonna tell you to keep on fighting. Oh, eric. Keep on fighting, please. Please.

Ridge: So, that’s what you didn’t want. We’re crying at your bedside. Didn’t want pity. Pa, this isn’t pity. This is love and you brought it on yourself. The great eric forrester. My dad… my friend. I love you. I love you very much.

Steffy: Oh, excuse me? Hi, I’m here to see eric forrester. I’m steffy forrester. I’m his granddaughter.

Nurse: Yes, I’m one of his nurses. Uh, your family’s with him now.

Steffy: Is he awake?

Nurse: I’m sorry, he’s– he hasn’t had any improvement. He’s still unconscious. Please, excuse me.

Steffy: Okay.

Finn: Steffy!

Steffy: Finn. Finn. Did you hear about my grandfather?

Finn: I know. I know.

Steffy: Have you seen him? Tell me he has a chance. Finn, I need you to be honest with me. Is he gonna make it? Finn, tell me.

Finn: Honey, I wish– look, I wish I could give you an answer, okay? But I can’t, not with certainty. But there is something, okay, that you should know. Something that I have been working on, for eric.

Ridge: When I was a little boy… I don’t know, six, maybe eight, I don’t remember… we took this family trip to ireland. Do you remember that? We all went for a long walk in the countryside. And I wandered off. I always wondered off, I guess. It’s– I wanted to see the world but, uh… I know I drove you and mom crazy. Yeah. And I ended up at this… weird hill and I was looking down at– at a– at a forest. And for some reason, the ground gave way and I fell. I rolled down that hill and– and hit something, a boulder, maybe a tree. I don’t– I don’t remember what it was, but it knocked the air out of me. I was hurt. I couldn’t move and I tried calling for you guys, but you couldn’t hear me and– and I– I just laid there for the longest time. It started getting dark. Started to rain. And for the first time in my life, I knew what fear felt like. Some kind of rustling coming from the bushes and I thought, “that’s– that’s gotta be a lion or a tiger or wolf or something come to get me,” and like the brave, young boy that I was, I… closed my eyes and waited for the end. And then, I heard your voice. “I got you, son. I got you, son,” you said, and you picked me up. Wrapped me up in your coat and you… took me away, and I thought, “where the hell did he come from? How did he know where I was?” You– you became a superhero that day and you know what? That never went away. I hate that you think that I wanted you out of the company. I don’t– I didn’t– I– I just wanted you to enjoy your retirement. That’s all. But then I see you behind that big desk. And you in– in charge and you’ve got your– your stapler and– and I– I just thought, “look at me, I’m a little boy again, and there he is my– my superhero dad who taught me everything I know. Everything I know about design, about being… about being a man.” Being a father and about being a friend. You lived a good life, man. And you– you love deeply, and you were loved in return and there is no greater gift. When things go wrong, your kids, they text you, they need you. But I promise you, we’re gonna be okay. It may not sound like it, but we’re gonna be fine. You don’t have to fight anymore. If you wanna go, you can go. It’s okay. It’s okay.

Zende: You hear from steffy?

Thomas: No, nothing yet.

[ Thorne sobs ]

Rj: Uncle thorne, are you okay?

Thorne: I can’t do this. I can’t do this any longer. This cannot be my father’s last night, it can’T. It can’T.

Steffy: Finn, I don’t understand, you– you’ve been working on something for my grandfather?

Finn: Ever since you told me about eric’s condition, I’ve been working on finding a treatment.

Steffy: That’s why you’ve been working all those late nights? Why you weren’t at granddad’s party? So– so what is it? Have you figured something out? A way to– a way to save granddad?

Ridge: Hey, I didn’t know you were here. Hi.

Steffy: How’s granddad?

Ridge: Oh. Nothing’s changed. It’s, uh, it’s not good.

Steffy: Tell them.

Brooke: Tell us what?

Steffy: Finn’s been working on a treatment to save granddad.

Donna: Really?

Ridge: What kind of treatment?

Finn: Okay, I– look, I don’t want to get too technical because it’s– it’s cutting edge. Experimental.

Ridge: Experimental?

Finn: Yes. Yes. And– and it wouldn’t be my first or second resort–

Ridge: Do you have something that can save my dad?

Finn: Look, I’m saying that there is a chance. Because eric’s condition it’s– it– it’s extremely grave. So, there are no guarantees.

Hope: Have you, um, given any thought to how we might break this news to douglas?

Thomas: Yeah, I don’t know. I hope there isn’t any news to break, right? Granddad wakes up and the doctors are able to help him and, um, then we just tell douglas that his great-grandpa was a little sick.

Hope: And if they can’t help him?

Thomas: I don’t know. But, uh, we’ll get through it together.

Carter: So, what did donna say?

Katie: Just that brooke and ridge and steffy are all at the hospital?

Zende: I’m going to the hospital.

Rj: I’m going too. Why–

Bridget: Guys, honestly, how many times do I have to tell you? Us all there is not gonna help anything. Believe me, I know you want to be there. We all do. But us anxious and emotional? It’s not gonna help the doctors. We’ll just be flagging down the nurses, taking them away from dad.

Zende: I just want to be there. I want granddad to know how much I love him.

Bridget: We all do.

Rj: Bridget, as– as a doctor, what do you think his chances are right now?

Bridget: I’m not sure if there’s anything they can do for him.

Ridge: Do you have something to save my dad? Yes or no?

Finn: I– I’ve been consumed with eric’s case the past several weeks.

Donna: An– and you found– you found something?

Finn: I did. Yeah. But unfortunately, it is not some magic bullet, okay? I wish I could say without a doubt that this treatment would work, but I can’T. Like I said, there are no guarantees. There really aren’T. And we would be taking a big chance.

Ridge: Big chance on what? What– what– what’s the treatment?

Finn: It’s a new technology that cleanses the blood. That, along with a transplant, should– no, it could make a difference for eric.

Donna: A transplant? Wha–

Finn: Something’s become available and the combination of these two treatments might possibly work.

Ridge: Might possibly work?

Finn: Yeah, I can’t give any–

Ridge: No guarantees. We got it.

Donna: I– I don’t want eric to be in any pain. Is this– is it painful?

Finn: Unfortunately, these two treatments, they’re– they’re not gonna be without some discomfort. And a long road to recovery. Look, dr. Colby and i have spoken and he has given me the case. So, I have to ask, is this treatment option something you would like to pursue? Ridge, you have the medical power of attorney appointed by eric. And I can’t imagine how hard this is for you, but you are the one that’s gonna have to make this decision. So, do we go all out, try to save eric? Again, with no certainty of the outcome. Or do we transfer eric to comfort care and let him go?

Ridge: I, um… I love my dad so much. Too much to put him through all this. We gotta let him go.

Donna: What?

Ridge: Let him die in peace.

[ Relaxing music ]

Ridge: Hey. You sure you’re all right?

Eric: Yeah, I’m all right.

Thorne: Come on, dad. Let me help you sit.

Eric: No, I don’t need to sit. I don’t wanna sit. Why would I want to sit? Look at this. Look at this beautiful family surrounding me. Everybody showed up to– to entertain an old man’s wish to have a party, and the significance of which I just– I don’t think you can really understand.

Steffy: But I think we do. We all do. Oh, granddad. Tonight is very, very special. Very special. One that we’re always gonna look back on and, um, ah– oh, wow. This is really amazing, isn’t it? All of us gathered here? I know the one thing that means most to you is this: Your family.

Eric: Mm.

Steffy: And we feel the same way. It’s hard not to with you as our leader. You’re always gonna be our leader… here at your home and at forrester. So, tonight, we celebrate you. We love you so much. Cheers to you, granddad.

Eric: You too.

[ Steffy sobs ]

[ Steffy, and eric chuckle ]

Finn: I know. Thanks for getting back to me. Okay. Bye-bye.

Li: Still here?

Finn: Yeah, just a bit longer.

Li: You should be at eric’s party.

Thomas: Steff– I know– I thought you were gonna let him know that we–

Steffy: No, no, no, I would never do that. I just wanted granddad to know how much we value him, how important he is.

Hope: You did great. And I think eric was very, very moved.

Steffy: Thank you. You don’t think he caught on?

Ridge: No, you’re doing a good job hiding it.

Brooke: It couldn’t have been easy.

Steffy: Oh, my god, I think I’m gonna lose it.

Ridge: Hey, don’T. Stay strong, all right? Tonight’s about laughter. It’s the least we can do for him.

[ Background chatter ]

Li: Well, it’s one thing to be fashionably late, but you should head over. I know how much you respect steffy’s grandfather.

Finn: Oh, I do… tremendously. I’d do just about anything for him. Eric’s a remarkable man.

Li: Yeah, he is, isn’t he? I wonder if he knows how blessed he is to have such a loving family. I’m envious. Eric has so much to live for.

Eric: I’m so glad the two of you came to this party.

Bridget: Of course we did.

Eric: I know it, uh– it couldn’t have been easy, so…

Thorne: Oh, please, you know I never pass up a party. Matter of fact, you should throw these more often, dad.

Eric: Maybe I will. But until I do, uh, when you go home, I want you to remember… I want you to remember how much I love you. Okay?

Bridget: Of course, we will, daddy.

Eric: I just wish we had more time.

Bridge: Dad…

Eric: I wish we had more time together.

Thorne: So do we.

Eric: Yeah.

[ Eric chuckles ] Now, you go and fill up. Fill up. You’re– you’re almost empty. Go on. Go on.

[ Bridget chuckles ]

[ Eric sighs ] Carter.

Carter: Ah.

[ Carter chuckling ]

Eric: How you doing?

Carter: I’m good. I’m good. You know, days like this, I just feel very… grateful, you know, that I landed here, in los angeles, at forrester. Eric, you’ve always included me. You made me feel welcome.

Eric: You’re family, you know. You’re family.

Carter: Eric, I can’t tell you the ways you changed my life. Your forgiveness. You’re more than a boss, more than a friend. You’re like A… a surrogate father to me.

Eric: If it was up to me, it wouldn’t be surrogate.

Ridge: You okay?

Carter: No. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.

Katie: Hey.

Donna: Hey, uh…

Katie: How you holding up?

Eric: All right, I guess. You know, this whole, um… this whole party is a little– it’s a little more emotional than I thought it would be. And it’s almost as if everybody here, uh… I mean, in spite of the fact that it’s only the three of us and– and rj and luna that know about this… um…

Katie: How long are you gonna keep it that way, eric?

Eric: Well, I’m gonna…

[ Eric coughing ]

Donna: Hey.

[ Eric coughing ] Um…

Eric: As long– as long as I can. As long as I can.

Donna: Why– why don’t i get you a glass of water, okay?

Eric: No, you know… why don’t you make that a, um– an extremely dry double martini?

[ Katie and donna chuckle ]

Donna: You’re kidding.

Eric: All right. A glass of champagne would be good.

Donna: I guess you earned it. A little–

Eric: A little?

Donna: A little splash.

[ Donna chuckles ]

Katie: “A little splash.” You asked the wrong logan.

Thomas: It’s– it actually is interesting because it’s weird. I can’t believe that you convinced granddad that you didn’t win.

Ridge: Well, why can’t you believe that? His designs were amazing.

Brooke: Yeah, but you did win the fashion challenge.

Donna: Are you kidding me?

Brooke: Donna.

Donna: What? Eric– eric didn’t win?

Brooke: Shh.

Donna: You did?

Ridge: Yeah.

Donna: Oh, my god. He can never find out, okay? He can never find out that he didn’t win that fashion challenge. Feeling sluggish or weighed down? It could be a sign that your digestive system

Eric: You know what I’m looking at here? I’m looking at the future of forrester creations.

Luna: Oh, wow. Yeah, these two for sure, but I’m honored you’d include me.

Zende: Granddad has seen many interns come and go over the years, luna. I’d trust his instincts.

Rj: Yeah. It’s funny, actually. He’s never been wrong. Not– no, not even once.

Eric: Uh, a few times.

[ Luna and rj chuckling ] But hardly ever. We’re so lucky to have you here. Thanks for coming.

Luna: Thank you.

Eric: And you…

[ Rj chuckles ] I appreciate your talent. You’re growing up into a really wonderful, responsible young man. Good for us. And zende… I never stop being impressed by you and your– your talent and how you have risen above such adversity. I’m so happy to call you grandson. I’m proud of you.

Zende: It’s all thanks to your influence. You have been the best mentor, the best teacher, not just at the company but for our family.

Eric: Well, the success of a company is not, uh, just one person. It’s a– it’s a– it’s a team effort. I see this team right here. I see it can go very far together. I predict great things for the two of you.

Donna: I– I don’t even understand. You– you said that eric won. Oh, but you never– you never showed us the receipts.

Ridge: I wanted him to go out on top, behind his desk, running his company.

Donna: Okay, I agree, but he– he’s a smart man. He’s– he’s gonna eventually figure this out.

Hope: Nobody– nobody wants that. We will continue to keep this secret.

Donna: Come on.

Brooke: You have to agree what ridge did was beautiful.

Donna: Great. Yeah. It was beautiful. It was– it was kind and it was selfless, but… what– what if he finds out? Do you know how painful that will be for him, to know that this was all just a lie? My god. You cannot let him know that you gifted this to him. Please. He’ll be furious. And in his condition, who the hell knows what it’s gonna do?

Eric: Hey, you two. I’m so happy that both– both of you are here. I’m so happy.

Thomas: I don’t think I need to tell you how, uh– how important you’ve been in my life — not just my life, everyone’s life.

Eric: I see great things in your future. Great many good things. Don’t take any of them for granted, okay?

Thomas: Mm.

Eric: And you, look at you.

[ Hope chuckles ] So, uh… so lovely and so smart. You’re really brooke’s daughter, aren’t you?

[ Donna and hope chuckling ] And so aptly named. A wonderful reminder that, uh, as we go through life, we must never lose hope.

Hope: Well, if there is something I have learned from having this name, it is to never, ever give up. Even in the darkest of times, always have hope.

Eric: Yeah.

[ Hope and eric chuckle ]

Eric: Sweet girl. Sweet girl. Love you, buddy.

Thomas: Love you too, buddy.

Eric: Mm, me too. Mm.

Donna: Thanks.

Eric: Hmm.

Donna: Um…

Eric: Oh, look out.

[ Donna chuckles ] Jewel of the forrester family.

[Steffy and eric chuckle ]

Steffy: Jewel?

Eric: That’s how I think of you. That’s how stephanie always thought of you too. Hmm.

Steffy: I may have inherited her name and… some traits, good and bad. But the things I’ve learned from you, the inspiration you’ve given me… you’re always gonna live through me. I’m always gonna feel your presence. Always. I love you. Granddad, I love you so much. So much.

Eric: I love you too.

[ Steffy sobbing ]

Brooke: Could I get in on one of those hugs?

[ Steffy and brooke chuckle ]

Eric: Oh, yeah.

Brooke: Yeah?

Eric: A lot of hugs right here especially. Come here.

Brooke: Oh.

Eric: Mm.

Brooke: Mm.

Eric: We’ve, uh– we’ve been in these trenches together for a long time.

Brooke: You’ve just always been there for me. You have. It’s incredible. I want you to know that. You’ve always been my champion. So much.

Eric: I love you too.

[ Steffy sobbing ]

Brooke: Could I get in on one of those hugs?

[ Steffy and brooke chuckle ]

Eric: Oh, yeah.

Brooke: Yeah?

Eric: A lot of hugs right here especially. Come here.

Brooke: Oh.

Eric: Mm.

Brooke: Mm.

Eric: We’ve, uh– we’ve been in these trenches together for a long time.

Brooke: You’ve just always been there for me. You have. It’s incredible. I want you to know that. You’ve always been my champion. And you were always the first to root for ridge and me. You know that?

Eric: Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah.

Eric: Now…

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: …You and ridge are gonna, uh, lead this company and this family into the future.

Brooke: Oh, I love you.

Eric: Me too. I love you too.

[ Brooke chuckles ] All right, everybody, uh, just a minute. Give me a minute.

[ Donna chuckles ] Uh… I just want to say something before we all go our separate ways. I want to acknowledge– heh– this angel by my side and on my shoulder. I love you.

Donna: I love you.

Eric: And, uh– and this man, my son. We’ve, uh… been battling each other and competing with each other all these years. But we’ve also been, uh, admiring each other, and… loving each other. And, uh… not a bad designer. Not the best designer.

[ Laughter ] No, no, no.

Brooke: Hm.

Eric: I beat you in the fashion showdown. So, you’re not really the best designer, but, uh… I think winning that was more important to me than maybe it should have been. But I did win, so there you are. Right? I did win, right, ridge? Carter? You told me I won, ridge. Was that a lie? Did you lie to me? Why would you do that? Why would you do that, ridge? Why would you lie to me about something… so important to me?

[ Eric grunts ] You lied to me. Well… that’s about the nicest thing anybody’s ever done for me.

[ Eric sniffles ] Thank you.

[ Brooke sighs ]

[ Eric chuckles ]

[ Eric and ridge laughing ]

[ Katie chuckles ]

[ Steffy chuckles ]

[ Eric and ridge chuckling ]

[ Eric coughing ]

[ Brooke and steffy gasp ]

[ Background chatter ]

Bridget: Dad!

Eric: Donna. Donna.

Donna: I’m here.

Eric: It’s okay. It’s my time. I’m– I’m at peace with it. Be kind to each other.

Ridge: Dad? Dad!

[ Donna sobbing ]
