Steffy: You are done messing with my brother.

Hope: That is not what this is.

Steffy: He proposed to you and you turned him down again.

Hope: Because I am not ready.

Steffy: So then let him go! Stop being so selfish.

Hope: Steffy, I’m not trying to break up with him. I just don’t wanna get married right now.

Steffy: You’re not serious about him. You never were. You never will be.

Hope: That is not true.

Steffy: Okay, what you have with thomas, it’s just physical. That’s all it is. It doesn’t go deeper than that.

Hope: Oh, my god. Steffy, stop, please. And besides, it’s none of your business.

Steffy: You just love being worshipped. You love all the praise and attention. You are exactly like your mom. Do you see it? Because I see all the patterns. I won’t let you undermine my brother’s integrity, okay? So back off. You stay away from thomas.

Thomas: I have never felt so blindsided. I had this wonderful evening planned. It was gonna be romantic and magical, and now it’s just… done.

Ridge: I’m sorry, son.

Thomas: I thought we would have a wonderful family together. That’s what I wanted. You know, her, me, beth, douglas. And then also, you know, here at work, excelling this line to new heights.

Ridge: Right. Let’s just make sure you don’t spiral because of this.

Thomas: Okay, I’m not spiraling. I just… I had the vision of a wonderful future, and I thought I could make her happy.

Ridge: I know. I’m here. Your family’s here. We’ll get you through this.

Thomas: Thanks.

Ridge: So, what are you thinking? You gonna take steffy’s advice? You gonna end things with hope?

Brooke: Oh, honey. How are you holding up?

Hope: Not great.

Brooke: Oh, sweetheart.

Hope: No, it’s fine. I mean, as if the situation with thomas wasn’t difficult enough already, steffy just came in here and tore into me, so…

Brooke: What? She has no right attacking you like that.

Hope: Mom, she thinks she’s looking out for her brother, acting like she’s his savior, when really she’s just making everything worse. And, you know, this is– she just always has to get involved, doesn’t she?

Brooke: Is there anything I can do?

Hope: No. I need to handle this on my own. I know thomas is upset, and I just need to try to get through to him to make him understand.

Ridge: Thomas went home. He’s devastated.

Thomas: I will always be here for you. As a designer, as your friend, as a father to our child. Whatever you need. We’re hope for the future now, and there can’t be one without the other. And I am just so, so grateful to be here in this magical city with you.

Thomas: Hope logan, will you marry me? You’re turning me down again.

Hope: And I’m trying to focus on myself and the kids and my career and– and my relationship to you. I love you. I just… I’m not– I’m not ready for a forever commitment. I’m sorry, but I can’t be your wife.

[ Knocking on door ]

Steffy: Hi.

Thomas: Hi.

Steffy: I know you’re hurting. And I’m always gonna be here for you, okay? I’m always gonna have your back. I promise.

[Coughing]

Hope: I hate that I disappointed thomas, and I don’t want this to be the end of our relationship.

Ridge: You can’t have been surprised that he proposed to you, right? You knew his intentions, you knew he wanted a family with you. You were wearing his ring around your neck.

Hope: But that was a compromise.

Brooke: It was thomas’s idea for her to put it on the necklace.

Hope: I was hesitant to even wear it in the first place. I was afraid of– that it might give the wrong impression that I was ready to be someone else’s wife again. But then the more we talked about it, the more I grew to love the idea of having that ring close to my heart. What it symbolized. Our exclusivity, the fact that I wasn’t interested in meeting other men then, and I’m still not interested in meeting other men now. And I know what he wants. I know that he wants me to put the ring on my finger. I just also thought that he understood where I was at, and– and that– that I just– I needed more time.

Ridge: But you also knew that you didn’t wanna marry him, so you should’ve made that more clear, no?

Brooke: She told him repeatedly that she wasn’t ready for the next step.

Hope: I never said never.

Ridge: Oh, so you’re keeping the door open?

Hope: No, I thought he understood where we were at. That– that– that I wasn’t exactly on the same page as him just yet, and that I needed more time, but clearly, I was wrong.

Brooke: He would’ve saved himself a lot of trouble if he had listened to her and realized that she still needed to heal.

Ridge: He did listen, and he thought you were ready. He was surprised you said no.

Brooke: Well, would it be better if she said yes when her heart’s not completely in it?

Ridge: No, that’s– no, that would be worse.

Hope: I’m sorry that I hurt your son. Ridge, I love him. And it kills me that he is upset right now.

Ridge: Upset? He’s heartbroken.

Steffy: I heard you left the office, so I came here to check on you.

Thomas: Yeah, I wouldn’t wanna hang out at forrester, you know? I might run into hope, and that might just be too painful.

Steffy: I know how much you care about hope. How you put your heart on the line.

Thomas: I think we could’ve had a wonderful family. I still don’t understand. I mean, all she said to me was that she was still processing her divorce.

Steffy: She asked for space and you gave it to her. Anything she’s ever wanted, you gave to her. You’re such an incredible boyfriend. You’re devoted and you’re faithful. Everything hope could ever want and dream of, it’s in you. Except she wouldn’t accept your proposal. For the second time.

Thomas: Maybe I should’ve just waited a little bit longer.

Steffy: Please don’t do that, please. Stop doubting yourself. This is all hope. She’s the one with the issues. She doesn’t appreciate you now, she’s never going to appreciate you, okay? What are you gonna do, spend the rest of your life wondering if you’re good enough? Come on. Don’t do this to yourself. You’re better than that. You are worthy. Thomas, you are fantastic. You’re a wonderful man. If your sister’s telling you that, I guess it’s true. You just gotta get out of this headspace, okay? You gotta release your emotions, get it out. And if you have to do it, I don’t know, just… punch a pillow. Or a punching bag. Cry it out, do whatever you need to do. But once you get it out, you need to end it with hope. Do it, thomas. End it with hope once and for all.

Hope: I understand you are concerned about thomas.

Ridge: Of course I’m concerned about him. That’s my son, that’s my boy. He’s worked really hard to get here. And now, to be rejected by– by the woman that he treasures more than anything else in the world? I don’t want this to be a setback for him.

Hope: It won’t be. Because he’s grown. He’s strong. And I have to believe that we’re going to make it through this. Although it would be a little easier maybe if people would just butt out. Like steffy, for one.

Brooke: Apparently she gave hope an earful before I walked in.

Hope: Yeah, it was more like she threatened me.

Brooke: We know that she told thomas to end things with you.

Hope: Yeah, she basically told me to stay away from her brother.

Brooke: She has no right to dictate your life.

Ridge: She’s probably just looking out for her brother, that’s all.

Hope: Oh, really?

Ridge: Yeah.

Hope: Well, then she could’ve maybe delivered it in a better way instead of tearing into me, calling me self-centered, saying that I was toying with her brother or using him for sex. Oh, yeah, and she brought my mom into it too and brought up her past.

Brooke: Oh, really? Well, that’s just too bad. I’m not surprised by that.

Ridge: All right, well, these families have been in a good place. Let’s not start a war.

Hope: Okay, well, then could you tell your daughter not to pour gasoline on the fire? I mean, it’s already a difficult enough situation as it is. I mean, what does she want me to do? Say yes and then change my mind further down the line? I mean, then hell really would break loose.

Brooke: You responded the way you should have. You did what was best for you and for thomas, honey. You can’t go into a marriage with all these doubts.

Hope: Exactly. So I wasn’t going to say yes unless I was 100% sure. And if steffy really cared about her brother, I would hope that she could understand that and just stay out of it.

Steffy: Hey. Thomas, hope is taking advantage of you. It’s really unfair. And it’s not healthy.

Thomas: I thought she loved me, steff.

Steffy: I know. I know that. But I hate to say it. You were just a rebound, thomas. She doesn’t love you the way you love her.

Thomas: Everything was so good. I thought I had given her enough time. I–

Steffy: No, thomas, please. You can’t keep doing this to yourself. Hope doesn’t know what real love is, okay? She just wants you to chase her. Like brooke.

Thomas: I– I just wanted to be engaged. You know, like, have some commitment for the future. I wasn’t expecting us to get married tomorrow. Though I– I probably would’ve gotten married tomorrow. I love her.

Steffy: Well, you’re a mature adult who knows what you want. Can’t say the same about hope. I mean, she’s been unraveling ever since the relationship has ended. Look, and it– it’s like she’s acting like a teenager with you. She seduces you and then pushes you away, and then seduces you and pushes you away. It’s all entertainment.

Thomas: I– I never thought of it that way.

Steffy: How many times are you gonna put your heart on the line, be completely open with hope, and then she just turns you down again? She rejects you. She says no. I mean, that is extremely hurtful. And really humiliating. Thomas, you do not deserve this. Any woman would be so lucky to be with you. Do you hear me? Anyone but hope. Are you tired of your hair breaking after

Hope: Steffy says that I have been playing games with thomas, that I have been leading him on.

Ridge: Seems fair. Are you?

Brooke: Ridge, come on.

Hope: Nothing could be further from the truth.

Brooke: She’s not that kind of woman. You know that.

Ridge: I’m not saying she’s that kind of woman, but something doesn’t seem right here. There’s just a disconnect between the two of you.

Brooke: It’s thomas not listening to hope and not respecting her timeline.

Ridge: Not what? Not respecting her timeline? I don’t even know what that means. All he does is respect her. And he did what he did because he thought it was time for that. Is he just misreading you? Misreads you every time he does it? Second time now. So what, your wires are crossed? You’re just not listening to each other? What is it? You’re from different planets?

Hope: Stop, ridge. We have a beautiful connection and I don’t expect everyone to understand it. But I do believe that we will work through this. We will overcome this. It just would help if we didn’t have people constantly interfering, like steffy. Ridge, she actually told me that she told thomas that– that she was going to make sure that he had nothing to do with me. Like it’s her mission in life now to make sure that I’m not a part of his life. Oh, and she was cruel about your past, mom. And she said that I have gone, uh, full logan.

Brooke: Oh, wow. Okay. I mean, she must be upset and clearly just lashing out.

Hope: I get that she thinks she’s just looking out for thomas, but this isn’t just about the proposal. It is much deeper.

Ridge: What do you mean?

Hope: Oh, ridge, I don’t think it is exactly a secret that I haven’t always been steffy’s favorite.

Ridge: Don’t do that. You guys always had problems with each other.

Hope: I’m sorry, ridge. But steffy looks for opportunities to tear me down, to– to belittle me, to criticize me. I am the last person on this earth that she wants her brother to be with, and both of you, you can’t deny that. She is trying to purposefully drive a wedge between thomas and me, and I will not allow it.

Steffy: Hope’s not worthy of you. You are too good for her. You’re a catch. And hope doesn’t even see it. I mean, like I said, you could have any woman in the world. Hope’s just toying with your emotions. She’s stringing you along. Aren’t you– aren’t you tired of it? Haven’t you had enough?

Thomas: Steff, I don’t– I don’t care what women I could or couldn’t be with. Like, I can’t imagine my life without hope.

Steffy: Yeah, but that’s because the wounds are raw right now. I know you’re strong. You can get through this. I mean, think about you and caroline. You created douglas and then you lost caroline, and that was extremely difficult for you. But you survived it. And hey, you’ll survive this too.

Thomas: Look, I would love to be with someone who wants me as much as I want them. And with hope, maybe that’s just not possible.

Steffy: Thomas, you shouldn’t settle for someone who doesn’t think you’re good enough. You need to find peace. Stop tormenting yourself. Hope isn’t it, okay? It’s not real. I mean, she wouldn’t even put your engagement ring on her finger.

Thomas: Steff, you’re talking about hope like she’s a person that she’s not. She’s not some stereotypical logan woman. She’s not her mom, all right? She’s not the spitting image of brooke. She’s different. She genuinely loves and cares for people, and I love her.

Steffy: I know you love her, thomas. But you need to cut her loose. I think you should take douglas and… leave town. Why don’t you get out of here? Go to paris. And then end your relationship with hope once and for all.
