Steffy: I haven’t seen you this excited in a long time. What’s the incredible news?

Finn: Honey, not only is it incredible, it was just the most unexpected.

Steffy: What, did you save a life in some crazy way?

Finn: You won’t believe it.

Deacon: So, what do you say? Come on. A trip to vegas? Let’s make it official tonight.

Sheila: Oh, you certain you wanna go to vegas?

Deacon: Yes, I do, I do. Come on, I proposed again, you’ve accepted again. Why wait to tie the knot? You know, the sooner the better, let’s do this.

Sheila: Maybe I’m having second thoughts.

Deacon: What about marrying me? Oh, come on. Oh! Knife to the heart. Say it ain’t so, lady.

Sheila: It ain’t so, lady.

Deacon: Look at that thing.

Sheila: Oh, I love you. There is nothing more that I want than to be mrs. Deacon sharpe.

Deacon: All right, now you’re making sense. Let’s not let anything else stand in our way, okay? I don’t wanna lose you again. I thought I had for weeks. Sheila, it tore me up inside. I never wanna spend another moment away from you.

Sheila: You don’t need to worry, because I’m– I’m not going anywhere.

Deacon: Hm.

Sheila: No, you put that big, expensive diamond ring on that finger, and I mean, look at it.

Deacon: I know, I know, I know, baby, I know, I promise, I promise, I know I owe you an engagement ring.

Sheila: No.

Deacon: I’m gonna get you one.

Sheila: You don’t owe me anything. I owe you. You saved my life. I– I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.

Deacon: Hey, what’s the matter?

Sheila: I just, uh, I was just feeling a little dizzy, that’s all. Must’ve been that kiss.

Deacon: Um, we’re gonna go to the hospital. Yes, we’re gonna get you checked out, okay? Please, please, just humor your fiancé.

Sheila: Okay.

Deacon: Okay? All right.

Finn: Your dad was right all along. Everything that he’s been saying is true. Sheila’s alive.

Ridge: Well, it sounds like you and carter had a productive meeting.

Liam: Yeah, it was productive, although I’m glad I ran into you, because he actually asked me a question I didn’t know how to answer, and it has to do with a new design with… hey, hope. Hope, hi.

Hope: Hi, sorry. I was just, um.

Liam: Are you okay?

Hope: No, yeah… I’m– I’m honestly not sure how to answer that.

Liam: Okay, is it ’cause– ’cause I– I know that you went and visited deacon today. Were you not able to talk him out of the, uh, the sheila’s alive nonsense, or?

Hope: Except it’s not nonsense, liam. My dad isn’t crazy. He’s right. Sheila is alive.

Ridge: You gotta be kidding me. Now, you too? You’re doing the same thing now?

Hope: I’m trying to tell you.

Ridge: Trying to what? To– to make sense of this conspiracy theory your dad came up with?

Hope: Okay, except he is not making it up.

Ridge: Of course he’s making it up. What are you talking about? Where are we now? Is he having conversations with sheila? Is he having a nice heart to heart with her? Hope, come on. You were supposed to go over there and talk him out of this nonsense. Sheila is dead. My daughter put a knife in her and she died.

Hope: Except she isn’t dead, ridge, because I saw her. Sheila is alive.

Deacon: You still feeling dizzy?

Sheila: A little, but I’m– I’m gonna be fine.

Deacon: Sheila, you were in that warehouse for weeks with very little food, very little water. Finn wanted you to go to the hospital, but you refused. You’re gonna be my wife soon, and I’m not playing around with your health.

Sheila: Sweetheart, I– I’m gonna be–

Deacon: Sheila, this is not up for debate, okay? I’m not playing around with this. All right, please, look, if– if you won’t do it for your sake, will you at least do it for mine? Please, I mean, I don’t wanna lose you now that I’ve got you back in my life. I mean, it would kill me if anything happened to you.

Sheila: Nothing’s gonna happen to me. I’m not going anywhere.

Deacon: No, yeah, you’re gonna go to the hospital, and you’re gonna get checked out by the doctor, and he’s gonna say everything is okay, and then we’re gonna know you’re safe, and then we can come back here, and we can play a different version of doctor.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: Well, if you put it that way, then okay, let’s go.

Deacon: Good, I love that you can be bribed. Okay, good, perfect. Um, you get your purse, and I’ll get my keys, and we will be back here planning our nuptials before you know it.

Sheila: Okay.

Deacon: Okay.

Steffy: Babe, you’re so amped up right now. Do you want some wine?

Finn: No, I’m– I’m– I’m okay, but yeah, I’m– I’m excited, uh…

Steffy: Okay, can you tell me what’s going on?

Finn: Yeah, um, it all begins with sugar.

Ridge: This is insane. This is absolutely insane. I— I’ve heard of sugar, yes, I’ve heard the stories, but she’s not part of this story.

Hope: Look, I had a hard time with it too, ridge. When I showed up at my father’s apartment, I was hellbent on– on getting my dad to give up the fantasy of sheila carter being alive. And I wasn’t going to leave there until I got through to him. But then the door opened, and sheila was just standing there, right in front of me, in the flesh, and I was so shocked that I– I actually passed out. Here’s the thing, ridge. When I came to, she was still standing there. So as hard as this is to believe, the woman that steffy killed that night was not sheila. It was her look-alike, sugar.

Ridge: No, there has to be something else. There has to be.

Hope: No, I get that this is beyond belief, and yet I–

Ridge: You still– you want us to believe that you saw her.

Hope: I didn’t just see her, ridge. I spoke to her and she spoke to me and I wasn’t hallucinating. I– I– I’m telling you, I’m– I’m not making this up. Sheila carter is alive. Whether we like it or not.

Nurse: There we go. And how would you like to be addressed?

Sheila: Sheila is fine.

Deacon: I’m her fiancé, deacon.

Sheila: He nearly had to drag me here.

Deacon: Well, I’m a bit of a worrier when it comes to this beautiful lady.

Nurse: Well, no need. We’ll take very good care of her.

Deacon: Okay. Damn it. I left my cell in the car.

Sheila: Well, I’m gonna be fine. Just go get it.

Deacon: You sure?

Sheila: Yeah.

Deacon: Okay. I love you.

Sheila: I love you.

Nurse: How long have you two been engaged?

Sheila: Would you believe a few hours?

Nurse: Maybe that’s why you’re feeling faint.

Sheila: Yeah, he asked me before, and I said yes. We just never solidified a deal, so to speak. But this time, it’s– it’s gonna be different. Every– everything is gonna be different.

Nurse 2: Thank you, doctor.

Li: I’ll review mrs. Edward’s latest test results. I’ll get back to you on where we go from here.

Sheila: Excuse me, um, is that dr. Finnegan?

Nurse: Oh, yes.

Sheila: Any chance of her seeing me?

Nurse: I’m not sure she’s available.

Sheila: Please, I mean, maybe you could ask her?

Nurse: I’ll speak to the doctor. Now, excuse me.

Nurse: Excuse me, dr. Finnegan?

Li: Yes.

Nurse: I have a patient in exam room 13, made a special request to see you. She’s suffering dehydration, malnutrition. Her name is sheila.

Steffy: Sugar?

Finn: Yeah, sugar.

Steffy: What about sugar?

Steffy: Well, oh, okay, so sugar is a person.

Steffy: Oh, okay, and– and you know this person?

Finn: No, actually, I– I don’t know her at all.

Steffy: What? Um, I’m really confused right now. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Finn: Okay, um, here– may– let’s– you wanna sit down?

Steffy: Yeah, okay. Okay, um, look… this, um, this whole thing is just unfathomable, okay? What I’m about to tell you. Look, I know it’s gonna be hard for you to believe, and– and– and what it means, and– and it was for me, initially, as well, um, but it is real.

Steffy: What’s real? Finn, you’re not making any sense. Okay, so this person named sugar is A…

Finn: Is, look, she’s– she’s a woman who looks exactly like… sheila.

Steffy: What? Wait, what, why?

Finn: I understand how crazy that sounds, but…

Steffy: What does this– what does this sugar person have to do with sheila?

Finn: Everything, steffy. Everything.

Ridge: So, not only did you see sheila, you talked to her at deacon’s house?

Hope: Look, I get that you don’t believe me, and I would have a hard time believing it too, if I wasn’t there to see it for myself, but sheila carter is alive. It was sugar who went to steffy’s that night.

Ridge: Okay, so the morgue, the crematorium, the nine toes, ten toes, whatever it is, you’re saying that sugar went up in flames, not sheila.

Hope: Exactly, and I know for weeks we– we’ve been thinking that sheila was gone from our lives forever and we could finally relax, and we wouldn’t have to worry about our loved ones being in danger anymore, and now, to find out how it actually is, that– that sheila was a victim in all this.

Ridge: Sheila was what?

Liam: Oh.

Ridge: Sheila was a victim, is that what you just said?

Nurse: She also reported feeling faint and a little nauseous, but… dr. Finnegan, everything all right?

Li: You said this patient’s name is sheila?

Nurse: Yes.

Li: It’s nothing. The name sheila used to send a shiver down my spine. Thankfully, not any longer.

Nurse: I can have another doctor look at her if you prefer.

Li: Oh, no, it’s fine. I’ll see the patient. Sheila, dr. Finnegan. Normally, I don’t see new patients, but I understand you specifically asked for me. I understand you’ve been suffering from dehydration and malnutrition. Are you okay, ma’am? Would you pull the sheet down, please, so I can examine you?

Finn: Just hear me out. This is gonna be hard for you to wrap your head around, but– but you will, honey, I promise. So, this woman, sugar, she looks exactly like sheila. Babe, I mean, it– it would be impossible to tell them apart. And when deacon showed me a picture of her, I thought he had lost it. But– but then I saw that photo and– and sugar and sheila, I mean, they– they could be identical twins. Anyway, look, it– it was lauren fenmore who told deacon about sugar.

Steffy: Lauren?

Finn: Yeah, on her most recent trip to L.A., She told deacon that years ago, sheila tricked sugar into getting plastic surgery so sugar would be convicted for sheila’s crimes.

Steffy: What?

Finn: I know, I know, okay, but it’s– it’s what happened. And sugar ended up in a mental ward.

Steffy: Okay, finn, stop. Why are you bringing all of this up?

Finn: I know that it’s confusing, but look, sheila and sugar are identical in every single way, but one. Sugar has all her toes.

Ridge: I wanna make sure I got all this. So, sugar kidnapped sheila and chained her up in some warehouse somewhere?

Hope: Yes, and then she was going to go on a crime spree and set sheila up to take the fall. And she was starting by going after steffy and the kids.

Liam: So– so– so there’s this person named sugar who’s just as sick in the head as sheila, and–

Hope: Yeah, but luckily, my dad was on to something. I mean, when he saw those feet–

Ridge: You hear how farfetched this is, right?

Hope: Yes, and I know this is the last thing that we want to hear, but it is true. There is one thing I know for certain after today. Sheila carter lives on.

Li: Please, ma’am, let me have a look. I won’t be able to treat you if I can’t see you. Fine. Apparently, you don’t want me to see you. Your toe. What happened? Is that why you’re here? For me to examine your missing toe? Answer me. Remove that sheet. Show me your face!

Finn: Deacon was worried that sugar had it out for sheila. So he and I, we went through her credit card history, and we tracked her down. In a strange part of town. We found her, steffy, in an old, abandoned warehouse.

Steffy: You found sugar?

Finn: Sheila. We found sheila.

Steffy: No, finn. Sheila’s– sheila’s dead.

Finn: No, that was sugar. It wasn’t sheila.

Steffy: What are you talking about? Sheila died. She died in our house. She died right there.

Finn: I know that’s what you thought. It’s what we all believed, but it wasn’t sheila. Steffy, it wasn’t her.

Steffy: Okay. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. Deacon is losing it, and he obviously got into your head somehow. This is just so crazy. Come on.

Finn: Babe, listen. In those final moments when deacon was with her and swearing he saw what he saw at the crematorium, it was sugar’s body. It wasn’t sheila’S. And look, I know that this is a shock, but it’s the truth. And you know what that means? You know what that means? Honey, it means that you didn’t kill my birth mother. You didn’t kill sheila. She’s alive. My birth mother is alive.
