Lani: Um, they just took eli into surgery.

[Sniffles] I am so sorry, valerie.

[Sniffles] I’m so sorry.

[Sniffles] Mm-hmm. Okay, all right.

[Phone beeps]

[Sniffles]

Abe: Aww, baby.

Lani: Hi.

[Sobbing]

[Suspenseful music]

Tr: Go ahead, make yourself comfortable.

Beth: I’m fine here. What do you want, tr?

Tr: Aw, relax. I’m not gonna bite.

Beth: You’ve been using. I can tell. You think I forgot how you beat me when you were high? No, coming here was a mistake.

Tr: Walking away from me would be a bigger one.

Maggie: Jake. Uh, maggie kiriakis here. I just got back from chicago and I was hoping that you could explain to me why there was a surprise dimera shareholder meeting yesterday, and how instead of victor joining the board, as we discussed, johnny dimera was installed in his place. So, um, please, call me. Call me.

[Knock at door]

[Exhales heavily]

Xander: [Clears throat]

Maggie: Oh, xander. What are you doing here?

Xander: Maggie, hello. I’m here because I wanted to, uh, tell you in person.

Maggie: Tell me what?

Xander: Sarah– she’s, uh, back in town.

Maggie: She is. Oh, well. I’m glad to hear that. I’m also surprised. When she was here a few weeks ago, uh, it was terribly hurtful as you well know. But, um… she was very clear that she didn’t want anything to do with any of us.

Xander: That’s because… that woman wasn’t sarah.

Maggie: What are you talking about? Of course it was.

Xander: No, maggie. That was ava vitali in a sarah mask. Courtesy of dr. Rolf. And it turns out that the woman who dumped me on my wedding day? Also not sarah. That was kristen dimera wearing the sarah mask.

Maggie: Oh, my god.

Xander: Sarah became a threat to kristen, so kristen kidnapped her. Made it look like she left town of her own accord so no one would look for her.

Maggie: So… so all this time? Where has sarah been?

Xander: Kristen’s been holding her captive on a deserted island. Luckily steve and kayla and abigail, they– they found her, brought her back.

Maggie: Oh, xander, I can’t believe what I’m hearing.

Xander: Yes, you can, ’cause it’s all true.

Maggie: [Gasps] Oh, my god. Oh, thank god, thank god! She’s safe. But, xander, wait– wait a minute. If this is true, then sarah– she never stopped loving you.

Xander: Maybe. But right now, she only has eyes for tony dimera.

Maggie: What? Tony dimera?

Anna: Well… aren’t you going to ask me how I slept last night?

Tony: How did you sleep last night, anna?

Anna: I didn’T. Not a wink. Because I was in the guest bedroom, wondering why my husband was not beside me.

Tony: Anna… you know exactly the reason why we had to sleep in separate bedrooms last night. It was either that or sarah pitch a fit and try to throw you out on the street. So, you know what? Enough with the outrage.

Anna: Well, tony, here’s why I’m outraged. You don’t have to let sarah do anything. This is your house. And mine. And yet you blithely indulge her delusion that she is… renee dumonde? And you let her call the shots? Oh, and then you play along with her fantasy that the two of you are madly in love.

Tony: Do you think I’m enjoying this? And there’s nothing blithe about what I’m doing here. You heard what kayla said. This was the right course of action.

Anna: Well, kayla is not a psychiatrist. And that woman is clearly out of her mind. We need marlena to talk some sense into that lunatic.

Sarah as renee: If you’re looking for marlena, she’s upstairs, although she is rather busy, dealing with a woman who’s literally tied to the bed.

[Tense music]

Abigail: Oh, well, hello, gwen.

Gwen: Abigail…hello.

Abigail: Why are you so surprised? Oh, surely you’ve heard that chad rescued me off that godforsaken island. Aren’t you gonna welcome me back?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

[Tense music]

Beth: Are you threatening me?

Tr: Me? No. It’s like I told you on the phone, I have an offer you can’t refuse. I’ma make you a star, baby.

Lani: I am so glad that you’re here.

[Sniffles]

Abe: How’s eli?

Lani: They just took him into surgery not too long ago. How is he? Do you have any news?

Kayla: Eli’s in the very best hands. The head of neurosurgery is performing the operation, and there is no one better. As soon as I have an update, I’ll let you know, all right?

Lani: Okay. Thank you.

Kayla: We’re praying for him.

Abe: So are we.

Anna: Did you just say that marlena had someone tied up upstairs?

Tony: You know, renee, you’ve been through a lot. Do you think it’s possible tha–

Sarah as renee: That I’m hallucinating? Of course not. And I’ll assume that it is her influence that led you to suggest that anyway. Nor am I hallucinating, in the unfortunate case, that she is still here.

Anna: This is my home.

Tony: Uh, uh–

Sarah as renee: Not for long. Although my attorney did inform me that I will have to provide proof that I’m the rightful owner of this house before I can kick you out on your derriere. But obviously I’m a dimera.

Anna: [Chuckles] Oh, obviously.

Tony: Anna–

Sarah as renee: However, my driver’s license and passport seem to be long gone. And…our sweet tony here is much too gentlemanly to do the deed, so I will have my long-lost brother, chad, attest to my identity. In the meantime…

Tony: What’s this?

Sarah as renee: A contract. To retain my lawyer’s services so we can initiate the divorce from her. The woman whose very presence in this house makes my skin crawl. All you have to do is sign the dotted line.

Maggie: So sarah read renee dumonde’s diary. And now she thinks that she’s this woman who died 40 years ago?

Xander: Yeah, but only because of this damn drug that kristen injected her with. She’s completely delusional, maggie. She won’t listen to reason. I tried to show her a picture of the two of us together, and she didn’t recognize herself. And apparently, when she looks in the mirror, she sees this dumonde woman’s face staring back at her. And when she looks at tony’s face, she sees the love of her life.

Maggie: But–she– she must know that tony is married.

Xander: Oh, I mean, she knows. That’s why she’s hired a lawyer to get the two of them divorced, and anna evicted from the mansion.

Maggie: Well, I’m sure tony will have something to say about this.

Xander: Of course, but– no, tony’s been advised to treat sarah with kid gloves because of her mental state. And kayla tried to get sarah medical attention, but sarah refused.

Maggie: But there are treatments that can help her. I mean, they have– they helped abigail.

Xander: Yes, exactly. And that’s where you come in, maggie. That’s why kayla’s been trying to reach you.

Maggie: Yes, but I was out of town, you know that.

Xander: I know. And now you’re back, thank god, and we can help sarah together. All you have to do, as her next of kin, is sign right here, and sarah will get the treatment that she needs.

Maggie: Against her will?

Xander: Oh, maggie, it’s the only way, I mean… kayla attests here that sarah’s not competent to make her own medical decisions. Really, you’d only be giving your consent. That’s all you need to do.

Maggie: I have to sit.

[Tense music]

Xander: Maggie, I know how difficult this is. It’s an enormous amount to take in all in one go, believe me, I know. But if we want sarah back, this is the only way.

Maggie: [Sighs] No. No, xander. I won’t sign it.

Gwen: Everyone was so very worried about you. Myself included. And you’re–I’m very happy that you were rescued.

Abigail: Are you?

Gwen: Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?

Abigail: Oh, besides generally hating my guts?

[Scoffs] You know, I have been thinking. Thinking. Chad tried to get a name from ava of her accomplice in my kidnapping.

Gwen: No luck, I assume?

Abigail: No luck, no. But, one question– what possible reason could ava have for wanting me gone? You know, ava barely knows me. Or sarah, or kristen. So she didn’t want me gone. But you have all kinds of reasons for wanting sarah out of the picture. And then when you found out I was looking for her, you were desperate to stop me. So it is pretty damn clear to me, glaringly obvious actually, that you are the person who bashed me over the head at the airstrip.

Abe: Lani, sweetheart, why don’t you go home and get a shower, change? You’ll feel better.

Lani: Mm-mm. I am not going anywhere until I know that eli is okay.

Abe: Can you tell me what happened?

Lani: [Exhales heavily] Yeah.

Abe: Please, have a seat.

Lani: [Inhales and exhales] I was at the station, when shawn came in and said that there had been a shooting at the park. And he asked me to back him up. And um–

[Sniffles] And, uh, when we got there, eli was on the ground with a bullet in his head, dad. And–and there was a drug dealer just slumped over on the bench with eli’s gun in his hand, and a needle on the bench, and–

Abe: Drug bust gone bad.

Lani: I don’t know. The dealer has been on our radar, but he wasn’t an active case for eli. Eli wasn’t even working a case. He–he was doing a background search on my biological father.

Beth: You’re gonna make me as star?

[Scoffs] Right. I’ve heard that one before.

Tr: [Chuckles] I have the perfect role for you in the perfect vehicle, “possessed: The marlena evans story.” Perhaps you’ve heard of it?

Beth: Yeah, I saw something about it in the trades a while back.

Tr: Mm-hmm. One of my leads wants out.

Beth: Why?

Tr: Personal issues. Nothing to do with the film. But you would be ideal for the part.

Beth: A lead role, huh? Would I be playing marlena evans?

Tr: [Laughs] Your character is celeste perrault. Mm, she’s instrumental to the story. Psychic–whoo-ooo-ooo. Totally steals the show.

Beth: [Scoffs] Okay. But it’s not the celest perrault story. And if she comes off sounding like miss cleo–

Tr: You won’t let that happen. With talent like yours, you will… bring depth to the role, real soul. And I promise, you gonna make bank on this. Given recent events, word of mouth on this film is huge.

Beth: And I suppose you want me to…audition?

Tr: Not necessary. I already know what you can do.

Beth: But you want something from me, right?

Tr: Just…the courtesy… of keeping our private history private.

Beth: Oh. You’re a little too late for that. I already gave every little detail about you to that detective.

Tr: Yes, but… he’s in no position to repeat your story.

Sarah as renee: Let me find you a pen.

Anna: Come here. Since you are so intent on humoring her, maybe you were going to go ahead and hire this attorney and go through with the divorce?

Tony: Of course not.

Sarah as renee: [Gasps] Here we go.

Anna: Should I have harold bring in some popcorn for this show?

Sarah as renee: Here you are, my darling. Soon, you will be nothing but an unpleasant memory. Isn’t that right, tony?

Xander: You won’t sign it? Don’t you want sarah to get help?

Maggie: Well, of course I do. But I’m not gonna subject my daughter to being hospitalized against her will. I need to talk to her! I have to see her.

Xander: She’s at the dimera mansion. Let’s go, I’ll take you.

Maggie: Well, are you sure you should come with me?

Xander: Why wouldn’t I?

Maggie: You and gwen are engaged.

Xander: Yes?

Maggie: And you love her?

Xander: I do. And I also love sarah. I mean, if I had known, if I’d had any idea what was going on all those months ago, then–

Maggie: Then you’d still be together. What are you gonna do?

Xander: Right now, all I can think about is making sure sarah gets the help she needs.

Gwen: You think that I was ava’s accomplice?

[Chuckles] Oh, wow. That is ridiculous. ‘Cause I–I hardly even know ava vitali, and I don’t know kristen dimera at all.

Abigail: Do you think I’m grasping at straws?

Gwen: Well, that seems to be sort of a pattern with you, doesn’t it? ‘Cause the last time you were convinced that I was masquerading around as sarah, well, you turned out to look like an utter fool.

Abigail: But I wasn’t wrong that “sarah” happened to be someone in a mask. I was just wrong about the person who was wearing it.

Gwen: Yes, well this is all really very fascinating, but I do have somewhere I have to be–

Abigail: Mm. I am just getting to the very fascinating part. Okay, so turns out we have two different people masquerading as sarah who break up with xander on two different occasions. The first one is kristen. She’s covering up the fact that sarah has been kidnapped. Now, the second time… well, yeah, you know, I don’t really know of anyone who would have benefited from that very strange, complicated charade… besides you.

Abe: Eli was checking on ray’s background?

Lani: Ray– tr told paulina that he went to prison years ago for stealing from his clients to support his drug habit. But he got clean and he hasn’t used or raised his hand to a woman since.

Abe: So they all say.

Lani: That is exactly why eli wanted to verify his story. So he–he tracked down tr’s ex-girlfriend, a woman named beth. She was at the station this morning when I got there, and said that she had just talked to eli.

Abe: And what did she tell him?

Lani: I never even got the chance to find out. Right as we were about to get into it, shawn alerted me about the shooting. We didn’t even know that eli was at the park until we got there. I don’t–I don’t even know why he was there, dad. And…I wonder if I ever will.

Beth: My god. That shooting that they were talking about when I was at the station? That was your son-in-law?

Tr: I’m afraid so.

Beth: But that just happened. How could you know that? Unless… did you have something to do with that?

Gwen: Ooh, your clever little reporter brain is just working so hard to pin this on me, isn’t it? It’s not that I’m surprised. But it’s really obvious that it was kristen who was ava’s accomplice.

Abigail: I know for a fact that it wasn’t kristen. Because the pilot told me that she was there waiting for him when he brought me to the island.

Gwen: Well, there you go. Maybe it was the pilot. Maybe he’s the one who conked you over the head, abigail. Or maybe it was the–the guy that posed as ava’s lawyer and spirited her out of the police station.

Abigail: How do you even know about that?

Gwen: How do I–it’s all over the news. But, look, the bottom line is– is I don’t care what you think of me, because I had nothing to do with your kidnapping. And now that you’re back from your tropical interlude, what really does it matter?

Abigail: What does it matter? Sarah has lost months of her life. She’s drugged out of her mind. She’s a mess. Just like I was, after you slipped the drug into my drink.

Gwen: Which you almost injected me with. So sarah being “drugged out of her mind,” that is completely on you…

Abigail: [Scoffs] In my–

Gwen: Sister. I’m not finished yet, sister. If you hadn’t left that syringe lying around, she’d be perfectly fine.

Abigail: My heart does go out to sarah. But in the end, I made a full recovery. And I have every confidence that she will do the same.

[Doorbell rings]

Anna: Saved by the bell.

Maggie: Oh, sarah!

Sarah as renee: Maggie horton. Wow, you’ve aged.

[ Mid-tempo music playing ]

Abe: Sweetheart. You’ll get the whole story when eli comes out of surgery. You heard what kayla said. He’s in good hands. He’s young. He’s strong. And he has everything in the world to live for.

Lani: I know.

[Sniffles] But–

Abe: But what, sweetheart?

Lani: [Sniffles] He di– he didn’t have a pulse, dad, when I got to him. He– he was gone. He was gone, and I– I had to give him cpr, get his heart beating until the e– until the emts got there.

Abe: Lani… you saved his life.

Lani: But what if I didn’t?

[Sniffles]

Abe: [Sighs]

Tr: I had nothing to do with eli’s shooting. Seems a deadbeat drug dealer shot him and then od’D.

Beth: So the one person I told my story to ends up shot and killed right after I met with him?

Tr: He’s a cop. It’s a dangerous job. Coincidences happen, beth. And if you don’t believe me, wait until you read this movie script.

Beth: That’s fiction.

Tr: And it’s based on real life. And I’m waiting to hear your answer.

Beth: A psychic, huh?

Tr: Look, I got people beating down my door to be part of this project. So this is a limited time opportunity, sweetheart. You want the job or not?

Gwen: You are just salivating for that to happen, aren’t you? You want your cousin sarah to go back to her old, wonderful self, because you are cheerleading for xander to throw me over for her.

Abigail: Xander loved sarah before he ever even laid eyes on you. He never would have dated you, let alone propose to you, if he hadn’t believed that sarah broke his heart.

Gwen: There it is.

Abigail: You know it’s true.

Gwen: You know what else I know is true? You being so determined to find sarah for maggie’s sake is not about that at all, is it? No. It’s about you wanting to get your revenge on me.

Sarah as renee: I’m sorry, that was…so rude. I’ve–I’ve just– I’ve been trapped on that island for so many years. The last time I saw you, you were chasing after a toddler, who was throwing quite a tantrum as I recall. Alex, what are you doing here? I thought I told you I never wanted to see you again. Oh, please don’t tell me that you let this gold-digger drag you here with the ridiculous story that I’m your daughter. Obviously I’m not, as you can see for yourself.

Maggie: I–

Sarah as renee: And I heard that it turns out, neil curtis is sarah’s biological father. How is he?

Anna: He’s dead.

Sarah as renee: Oh. That’s quite a shame. I rather liked him. He’s a handsome devil, am I right? Of course, he doesn’t hold a candle to you, my darling. Well, since you’re all here, you’re just in time!

Maggie: For what?

Sarah as renee: Oh, well, tony has hired a divorce attorney– the same one that I’m using to divorce alex here– so he can extricate himself from an ill-advised marriage. Then tony and I are free to get married, and live our happily-ever-after that we’ve been denied for so long.

Maggie: [Sighs] Give me that pen. Do you have the papers?

Xander: Yeah.

Tony: What’s this?

Maggie: Oh, I’m gonna make sure that sarah gets all the tests and treatment that she needs.

Sarah as renee: What? No! You can’t do that.

Maggie: Oh…yes I can. And I’m about to.

Is now a good time

for a flare-up?

Abigail: As hard as it may be to believe, not everything is about you, gwen. I want sarah to get well because she’s my cousin, and I love her.

Gwen: More than your sister?

Abigail: She never tried to kill me before.

Gwen: Hmm. Right, if you’re so concerned about family, why didn’t you even bother to tell maggie that her precious daughter is back?

Abigail: Because she’s out of town.

Gwen: No, not according to xander. In fact, he’s with her right now.

Sarah as renee: You can’t do this–I won’t let you.

Tony: But what’s the harm in having a check-up? If the tests prove nothing’s wrong–

Sarah as renee: Nothing is wrong. Nothing at all. And I’m not gonna let you or any of you destroy my chance at happiness.

Maggie: Sarah!

Sarah as renee: That is it. I’m out of here. Don’t you dare try to stop me.

Anna: Good riddance.

Sarah as renee: Oh, kayla, thank god.

Xander: I called kayla before we left. Told her we might need some assistance.

Kayla: Did you sign the consent, maggie?

Maggie: Please, kayla, help my daughter.

Sarah as renee: For the love of god, I am not your daughter. And I do not need any help. Get out of my way.

Kayla: We are here to help you, sarah.

Sarah as renee: Treating me like a criminal. Last chance. Out of my way.

It would be best if you came willingly.

Sarah as renee: Or what? You’ll cuff me? Unbelievable! Tony, don’t just stand there. Do something. Help me.

Tony: I’m afraid my hands are tied.

Anna: Hmm. Lot of that going around today.

Kayla: We’ll take good care of her, I promise.

Let’s go.

Sarah as renee: Get off of me. This is all your fault, you bastard.

Xander: Sarah–

Sarah as renee: Stop calling me sarah! No! Stop it!

Kayla: Maggie, if you want to come to the hospital? Okay? It’s gonna be okay.

Sarah as renee: No!

Kayla: Sarah, it’s okay.

Maggie: [Whimpers]

Beth: [Sighs] So you’re bribing me with a movie role.

Tr: If you don’t believe in your own talents, well, that’s an issue between you and your shrink.

Beth: And if I say no? Is what happened to that detective gonna happen to me?

Tr: You want me to say it again, beth? I had nothing to do with that shooting. But…smart girl like you? I think you know that it would be in both of our best interests if you signed on for the role.

Lani: Every time eli and I walk out that door, we know that there is a chance something will happen to us. So that’s why every time we leave in the morning, we always make sure that we say “I love you.” I’m not even sure if I remember if that was the last thing that I said to him.

Abe: Eli knows how much you love him, sweetheart.

Lani: We didn’t even sleep in the same bed last night. I got home late, and I– I didn’t want to wake him and the kids were with you. And what if that was the last chance for us to be a family together?

Nicorette knows, quitting

smoking is freaking hard.

Lani: I know I should try to be positive, optimistic–

Abe: You can feel whatever you want to feel.

Lani: I think another reason why it’s so hard, I guess, is being here, back in this hospital, where eli and– where we lost our son.

Abe: This is also the hospital where your twins were born.

Lani: Yeah. I guess I should think about that, right?

[Sniffles]

Abe: You should, yes.

Lani: And he is the most amazing daddy to them.

Abe: He is.

Lani: [Laughs]

Abe: I’ve seen that.

Lani: It’s just–

[Sniffles] Dad, he was shot in the head, and he was– he wasn’t breathing for god knows how long. Like, I don’T…

[Sobs] God, please just let him live. Please.

[Sobbing]

Beth: Selling out isn’t exactly unheard of in this business, is it? The things I’ve done to get a foot or any body part through the door. A man gladly takes what I have to offer, and then slams the door in my face. Or puts a fist to it, if that man is you.

Tr: Are we having a #metoo moment?

Beth: [Scoffs] I was holding out hope that things were getting better. But I see slimy jerks like you still run the world.

[Sighs] And the biggest role I’ve had is woman #4 in a b movie.

Tr: My film will change all that. Make you the star you always wanted to be.

Beth: Yeah, well, maybe being as star isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Is it?

Tr: Are you saying no?

Beth: [Sighs]

Sarah as renee: How could you do this to me? I saved your life on that island. I kept kristen from putting drugs into your food. And this is how you repay me?

Maggie: We’re–we’re just trying to help you, sarah.

Sarah as renee: Renee, you bitch. For the millionth time, it is renee.

Gwen: Right, so why don’t you just go run along now and go tell maggie that her precious daughter is back, instead of popping out of bushes and harassing me.

Abigail: You had something to do with all of this, gwen, and I am going to prove it.

Xander: Something to do with what, abigail? What are you so determined to prove? It’s my 3:10, no-exit-in-sight,

Gwen: Abigail here has accused me of being involved in her kidnapping, even though she has no evidence whatsoever.

Abigail: Well, she sure as–

Xander: Hey, you’re in no position to be throwing stones.

Abigail: I knew that she was gonna do something.

Xander: I just came back from seeing sarah forced to be taken to the mental ward. She’s a pitiful shell of her former self, all because of some dangerous drug you left lying around?

Abigail: I’m–I’m so– I didn’t–it wasn’t intentional. I didn’t mean for sarah to get any–

Xander: Oh, now, you wanted gwen to be your victim. And then you couldn’t be bothered to clean up after yourself. What’s happening to sarah is your fault, abigail. So, no, you don’t get to stand on your moral high ground this time. Why are you still here? I can’t believe you’re related to that sanctimonious–

Gwen: Yeah, I know. She was on a roll before you got here.

[Sighs] Thank you. Thank you for defending me.

Xander: Of course. You’re the woman I– I love you.

Gwen: Are you all right? I mean, I–I know– I can’t imagine you seeing sarah like that. That must have been very difficult for you.

Xander: Well, I’m just, you know, glad that she’s getting the treatment that she needs. And I’m hopeful that she’ll be on the road to recovery soon.

Kayla: You are gonna feel better soon.

Sarah as renee: I was feeling just fine until you showed up. And you.

Maggie: Kayla, could you please give us a moment alone?

Kayla: Of course.

Sarah as renee: Get out.

[Eerie music]

Maggie: [Sniffles] Oh, sweetie, I know how difficult this is. But you–you have no idea how much I’ve missed you.

Sarah as renee: Well, I didn’t miss you at all because I hate you, maggie horton!

Maggie: [Gasps]

Anna: Well, thank goodness maggie and xander got here when they did. And now that woman will be locked away in a padded cell, and never darken our doorway again. So where would you like to have lunch?

Tony: Lunch? Anna, we just witnessed a mentally ill woman being dragged out of here against her will. Have you no compassion? And she poses absolutely no threat to you at all. And yet you were too selfish to even show her a modicum of kindness.

Anna: Selfish? Did you even hear how she talked to me? And the tone she used? Was I supposed to just grin and bear it?

Tony: Anna– I understand… how you must despise renee dumonde. But this woman I loved once, and I’ll never forgive myself the way she was murdered. And all this stuff just comes back and reminds me of how horrible it all was. So I’m sorry, I find you, frankly, to be cruel to poor sarah.

Anna: Poor sarah?

Tony: Yes. And as for lunch, I’ve lost my appetite. So I won’t be joining you.

[Uneasy music]

Tr: All this hand-wringing. You ain’t fooling me, beth. You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t buying what I was selling.

Beth: Your daughter deserves to know the truth about you.

Tr: But you’re not gonna tell her, are you?

Beth: No, I’m not. And I hate myself for it.

Liam: With respect to the contracts, we’ll have the legal team take a look at it and get back to you. But… uh, but we are very much looking forward to working with you. Okay. All right. Take care, john. Ah. I would ask if you’re okay, but you’re not, and I can see that, so how can I help?

Brooke: Oh, no, I mean, you’ve helped already so much. I mean, just letting me come down here without even calling, that’s a big help. So, I want to thank you for that. It’s just I’m not– I haven’t really been myself these days. So…

Liam: Yeah, well, how could you be? You’re always welcome here, though.

Brooke: Thanks. I was actually looking for hope. Is she around?

Steffy: You said it yourself, dad, that you need peace and stability in your life with a woman you can trust. None of that adds up to brooke. You know you belong with mom. With the forrester family. My mother loves you, ridge, with everything that she has, and she messed up. But she admits that, and if she could take it back, she would.

Sheila: I shouldn’t have to tell you, you’re a smart guy, thomas. I mean, keeping the secret benefits not only you, but your family.

Thomas: So I’m just supposed to forget the reason that brooke drank that night?

Sheila: Yes. Why do you care? You and steffy are both getting what you– you wanted– your parents back together.

Thomas: It’s not like they’re really a couple. My dad’s living in the guesthouse.

Sheila: Well, I’m not thrilled to hear that your father’s sleeping alone. But given time, my plan will work. You just have to stay quiet and let it. You tell no one, thomas. This is our secret. You got that? Are you good. Good.

Deacon: Scheming much?

Liam: Said on the box this is supposed to calm your nerves, so…

Brooke: Oh, well, I need that. Thank you.

Liam: Yeah. Hey, if you need to talk, you know, you can talk to me. I mean, I’m not hope, granted. But I’m a pretty good listener and my shoulders are strong.

[ Laughs ] I don’t want to lay my stuff on you. I mean, hope is my daughter, she has to listen to me. You don’T.

Liam: Well, still want to. If you let me.

Brooke: That means a lot. Thanks. It’s just, uh… I don’t know. Everything happened so quickly. And it’s all my fault, of course. But I just miss my husband. Very much.

Steffy: That vodka didn’t just pour down brooke’s throat on its own.

Ridge: Okay.

Steffy: She chose to drink and carry on with deacon. Uh, you both know that my mother is an alcoholic, and I’m not using that as an excuse, but I do think that it is wrong to throw that in her face and punish her for one slip.

Steffy: One slip? Brooke kissed deacon. He stayed in my father’s bed. Look, my father is where he belongs– with my mother and our family. Where he has the respect and unconditional love he deserves. This isn’t the first time brooke betrayed my dad. She made a choice, and now she has to pay the consequence.

Sheila: How long have you been standing there?

Deacon: What if I told you it was long enough to hear something that you didn’t want me to know?

Sheila: I say not a chance, because my life is an open book.

Deacon: Sure.

Sheila: Why are you being so passive? I mean, the apron is really cute, but I think you need to ditch that and start focusing on a real opportunity. Brooke is alone and ridge is with his other family at steffy’S. We are within arm’s reach of what we both want: The end of ridge and brooke. What, you’re going to miss that opportunity because you are mopping floors? Why don’t you seize the moment? What are you going to do? (Asaad) when I was little,

Sheila: Come on, deacon. Why don’t you take off that apron and your pants and put that mop away?

[ Deacon scoffs ]

Deacon? What do you want me to do? You want me to throw her over my shoulder and haul her off back to my cave?

Sheila: That’s not a bad idea. She might like that.

Deacon: Yeah, I think you’re projecting now.

Sheila: Well, that’s something we’ll have to figure out another time, right? Let’s just focus on the task at hand.

Deacon: She’s made her feelings pretty clear. She wants ridge, not me.

Sheila: That’s when she thought ridge was still an option, before he started cozying up to taylor. And he’s not really cozying up quite enough. I think that’s where you come in. You can actually push ridge into the taylor column for good, and that’s a beautiful thing, because then we get exactly what we want and you get the added bonus of getting to spend time with the girl of your nightmares.

[ Sheila chuckles ] I’m sorry, your dreams. So, why don’t you go after your dream? Put on that charm and that sex appeal, because we know brooke is very vulnerable to that. So, why don’t you go after it, caveman?

[ Sheila chuckles]

Brooke: Just a few months ago, I swore that there was nothing that could come between ridge and me. But I wasn’t banking on myself. I mean, why did I do that?

Liam: God, I wish I had an answer for you.

Brooke: There’s something else I did that I regret, too. Yeah. You mean handing ridge over to taylor on a silver platter?

Brooke: Yeah, well, I didn’t want him to be miserable anymore, and I thought maybe he could be happy in a different situation. You know, with his other family, with taylor. So, I… I offered him a divorce.

Liam: Brooke!

Brooke: Yeah…

Liam: Wh– why?

Brooke: I don’t know.

Liam: Why?

Brooke: I– I’m starting to think that maybe I was wrong.

Liam: Yeah, you think? What are you even doing here? Go–

Brooke: You know what I need to do? I need to stand up.

Liam: Yes.

Brooke: And fight.

Liam: Yes.

Brooke: Like I used to.

Liam: Exactly. Go fight for your marriage. Go do it.

Brooke: I need to fight for my marriage.

Liam: Un-ring the bell.

Brooke: Oh, my god.

Liam: Go, go, get outta here.

Brooke: Thank you. Thank you.

Liam: You’re welcome. Go.

Brooke: I’ll talk to you later.

Hope: Ridge, please just hear me out. When it comes to betrayal, intention has to matter. I mean, my mom, she didn’t plan to drink that night. She didn’t plan to be with deacon. He just happened to show up again after she had a few too many, and one thing led to another, and things got out of hand.

Steffy: I am so sick of you and brooke using alcohol to justify brooke’s behavior. Okay, let’s say the booze made her do it. Brooke still chose to drink. And why was deacon in the house in the first place? Brooke knows how my father feels about him. If she sent him on his way, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. But I really don’t have any complaints here, because everything’s working out in the end. My father’s back where he belongs.

Hope: Ridge, I know that my mother hurt you, but I believe that would have never happened if she wasn’t drinking. And I get that you are upset with her for defending my father time and time again, but she’s doing that for me. She loves you. Ridge, it has always been you, and I know underneath all of your hurt and anger, that you still love her, too.

Deacon: Hey.

Brooke: Deacon! What are you doing here?

Deacon: Just came to check on you.

Brooke: I’m fine.

Deacon: I doubt it. But if you let me in, you hear me out, you might be.

[ Brooke sighs ]

Deacon: Look, I know you’re going through a rough time, and I just thought maybe these would help. And when you open it, you’ll notice I picked out your favorites.

Brooke: How did you know?

Deacon: I remember. In between our more passionate moments a lifetime ago, you did manage to open up just a little bit to me. And I remember. I remember everything, brooke. Every single moment. If you have type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure

Liam: Hey. So, what do you think about sushi for… oh. Bad day.

Hope: Had better.

Liam: I’m sorry.

[ Hope sighing ]

Hope: That helped.

[ Liam chuckles ]

Liam: Well, I got as many of those as you need. What happened?

Hope: Well, I had a little run-in with steffy at the office about mom and ridge. Liam: That doesn’t sound intense at all.

Hope: Mm. Obviously, there is a very strong difference of opinion regarding whom ridge should be with, and whether steffy, thomas or taylor like to admit it, my mom and ridge still love each other.

Brooke: Deacon, if you came here thinking we’re going to skip down memory lane, that’s just not going to happen.

Deacon: Okay, so that’s pretty clear. Not a lot of gray area there. Hey, what if it’s just what I said, that I came here to check on you?

Brooke: Oh, well, let’s see. Well, I just handed my husband over to a woman who’s been lying in wait for decades, just like a gift. So, yeah, I don’t know. I mean, I trashed my own happiness. Really, what is wrong with me?

Deacon: Not a damn thing. Brooke, you fell off the wagon. It happens.

Brooke: I did more than that. I kissed you and I let you sleep in a bed that I share with my husband. Deacon: Well, we passed out. Nothing happened. Look, you’ve got to stop beating yourself up over this thing, all right? If ridge really loved you, he’d forgive you. You deserve better than this.

Brooke: There’s nobody better than ridge.

Brooke: Oh, how could I let him go?

Steffy: Hope was being such a hypocrite. What happened to the clear-eyed truth teller?

Thomas: Do you have to be so hard on her, steff? She’s just looking out for her mother like we are.

Steffy: Well, I think she’s in denial. Look, I get dad is always going to care about brooke on some level, but hope is constantly justifying brooke’s reckless behavior. Yeah, okay, you can make a mistake. I get that. But this has become a pattern.

Ridge: Come on, steffy.

Steffy: You know I’m right, dad. Since it’s always you that’s getting hurt. Look, I get when you and brooke are together, when it’s good, you guys are picture perfect, and then something snaps. It’s like she turns to another man, a man that you despise. How long are you going to put up with this? Really? Yeah, okay, I get that she was drinking, but dad, she chose to drink. Tell me you realize that?

Ridge: Oh, I realize it. I realize all of it. I realize you want to put this family back together. And I realize that you want what’s best for me. And I also realize that brooke has blown up this relationship to a point where maybe it’s– it’s not fixable anymore. But hope is right. There is a part of me that will always love brooke, and I don’t– I don’t think it’s ever going to go away. I’m amber, I’ve lost 128 pounds with golo, Liam. I mean, he was stuck between steffy and me and both of us wanting what’s best for our mothers. And yet…

Liam: Brooke was– was here earlier. And… god, it’s just– it’s just so obvious how much she loves and misses ridge, and… how much she regrets letting him go.

Hope: That shouldn’t have happened.

Liam: Right.

Hope: I mean, she should fight for her marriage.

Brooke: I mean, what was I thinking? Letting ridge go like that? Pushing him into another woman’s arms? Taylor, no less. They have a history together. And because of that, he has feelings for her. They share a family. If anybody could take ridge away from me, it would be her.

Deacon: So, basically what you’re saying is that you haven’t given up on ridge?

Brooke: Yeah, basically. I love him, deacon. I never should’ve let him go.

Brooke: Ridge!

Brooke: I’m back, ridge. And I’m here to stay.

Ridge: My logan.

Brooke: Yes, your logan.

[ Thomas exhaling ]

[ Phone dialing ]

[ Phone ringing ]

[ Sheila sighing ]

[ Phone ringing ]

Sheila: Thomas, why are you calling me?

Thomas: Because I got no one to talk to about this. So far. Anyway.

Sheila: What do you mean, “so far”?

Thomas: Look, my dad loves my mom, he always has and always will, but he also loves brooke. Okay, and if he finds out what or who was the reason that she started drinking that night–

Sheila: He can’t know that.

Thomas: Keeping this secret doesn’t feel right, sheila.

Sheila: But it will. Once all the pieces fall into place– ridge is already living in steffy’s guesthouse, a stone’s throw away from taylor, and it’s only a matter of time before brooke reveals her true feelings towards deacon. The woman can’t stay alone a day in her life, and she does have feelings for him, or new year’s eve never would have happened. Booze-fueled or not.

Thomas: Booze-fueled because of you, sheila. Why are you so invested in this anyway?

Sheila: My son and grandson. Finn and hayes, they mean everything to me. I want to be in their lives, apart of their family’s life with you, steffy and– and taylor.

Thomas: Yeah. Talk about a long shot.

Sheila: Maybe, but I have to take it. My dreams, they stand a better chance of coming true as long as brooke is otherwise occupied. And this isn’t just about me. Taylor is– is a wonderful, compassionate woman and she’s in love with your father. This is her chance to have him. Ridge is the love of– of taylor’s life. She– she can have him back, and you can help make that happen by doing nothing. You just keep quiet. And everyone will get what’s best for them in the end if you keep this secret. You say nothing, not a word. We take this to our graves. Do you hear me, thomas? Thomas!

Thomas: Yes, I hear you.

Chanel calls Allie and asks if there’s any update on her aunt Belle. Allie informs her that Marlena is keeping her sedated while trying to get a hold of John. Allie says they’ve been through it, so they’ll know how to help Belle. Allie asks how Chanel is doing. Chanel is still freaked out because the Devil looked her in the eye and told her that he was going to kill her. Allie says she’s sorry but asks her not to tell anyone as Marlena wants to keep it on the DL. Chanel tells her not to worry as she has no desire to talk about Johnny or what went down this morning. Paulina then appears and questions what happened with Johnny. Chanel tells Allie that she will call her back and hangs up. Paulina asks what Johnny did now. Chanel explains that she went by this morning to try and get Johnny to let her and Allie out of doing his stupid movie and he said he would if she dropped her lawsuit, meaning she won’t get a dime in their divorce. Paulina hopes she told him to kick rocks. Chanel responds that she would have but they got interrupted. Paulina offers to talk to TR about it. Chanel says that TR said he’d be fine letting them out of the movie, as a favor to Paulina.

TR asks Beth if they have a deal that she will keep her mouth shut about their past relationship and in exchange, he will give her a role in his upcoming movie. Beth reluctantly agrees to the deal. TR tells her that she made the right decision and she won’t regret it. Beth is unsure but TR assures that this could be her big break as he hands her the papers. Beth remarks that TR always gets his way. TR guesses he’s just lucky. Beth asks if it was just luck that the one person that she told her story to, that knows the disgusting truth about him, gets shot right after meeting with her. TR claims he had nothing to do with that but admits that poor Eli took his secret to the grave…

Shawn goes to see Julie, who notes that he looks serious and asks if something is wrong. Shawn informs her that he has bad news about Eli.

Lani complains to Abe that it seems like Eli has been in surgery forever and asks how long it’s been. Abe says they should hear some news soon. Kayla comes over and announces that Eli is out of surgery. Lani asks how it went. Eli’s mother Valerie arrives and hugs Lani, asking how her son is. Lani informs her that he’s out of surgery. Abe asks if Kayla has more to tell them. Kayla reveals that the surgeon removed the bullet without any complications, so Eli is in stable condition. Kayla adds that Eli is okay but he’s not out of the woods, so the next 24-48 hours are critical. Abe and Valerie hug Lani as she cries.

Eli lays in his hospital bed and dreams about getting shot by TR. Eli then calls out “Ray” in his sleep.

Paulina questions when Chanel spoke to TR. Chanel explains that he came by this morning with an updated version of the script but they told him that there was no way they were working with him or Johnny, and TR said he didn’t want to make them do anything they don’t want to do. Chanel guesses TR is trying to make amends with Paulina and Lani, but Johnny still has to agree. Chanel adds that knowing that TR is cool with it is huge since he’s the producer and doesn’t have to do this. Chanel guesses TR really is trying to get back in Paulina’s graces. Paulina acknowledges that TR has made it clear he wants a chance with her, but she’s still thinking about it. Chanel admits that TR did seem like a decent guy but she’s not sure she trusts him after all the hell he put Paulina through. Paulina says that was a long time ago but assures that her eyes are wide open and she won’t forget what TR did to her. Paulina adds that she told him that forgiveness has to be earned but she still has a lot of reservations. Paulina brings up everyone in town forgiving her for what she did, so it seems hypocritical to not give a second chance to others. Chanel doesn’t want to see her get hurt again. Paulina tells her not to worry about her and just focus on getting out of that movie. Paulina hopes TR can find a way to overrule Johnny. Chanel remarks that she’s sure TR won’t have a problem finding someone else to play Celeste in the movie. Beth then appears and reveals that he already has, as she is the new Celeste.

Valerie asks Kayla if the surgeon expressed any concern about permanent brain damage. Kayla says not at this point, but they will have to wait and see. Lani asks if they can see him. Kayla says they are welcome to sit with him and suggests limiting it to two for now. Abe sends his love as Kayla takes Lani and Valerie to Eli’s room. Lani goes to Eli’s side and tells him that she and Valerie are right there. Eli tries to speak, so they wonder what he’s trying to say.

Chanel questions Beth being the new Celeste. Beth confirms that she was just cast and asks if Chanel was hoping for the role. Chanel reveals she already did and was trying to get out of it for weeks. Beth asks why. Paulina informs her that Chanel’s soon to be ex-husband is the director. Chanel wonders if this means that Johnny has caved. Paulina questions why he would do that. Chanel reveals that she helped him with a family crisis, so maybe this is his way of saying thanks. Chanel asks if Beth has talked to Johnny. Beth says she just talked to TR. Chanel doesn’t care how it happened and is just glad it did. Beth asks if she should be worried about Johnny. Chanel says not at all as he is a very talented director and very passionate about this project. Chanel mentions Johnny having her try on wigs and study tarot cards which Beth questions. Beth mentions she hasn’t read the script yet as she just got cast. Beth recalls TR mentioning something about Celeste being a psychic. Beth says she would love to pick Chanel’s brain about the role. Chanel invites Beth in to the Bakery so they can chat. Beth thanks her as Chanel introduces herself and Paulina. Chanel tells Beth that she is the one helping her out as they head in to the bakery.

Shawn brings Julie to the hospital where Abe talks to them about the shooter being a known drug dealer named Frank. Shawn points out that Eli wasn’t working a case that involved him. Julie wonders if Eli was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Shawn brings up that Eli was questioning a woman right before the shooting. Abe explains that was part of a background check and that the woman told Lani that Eli had stepped out in the middle of their meeting. Shawn decides to go check on leads. Julie encourages him to find out what has happened to Eli. Shawn tells Julie that he loves her and exits the hospital. Julie hugs Abe and asks how Lani is holding up. Abe admits she’s shook up but keeping it together. Abe thinks Lani could use some additional support.

TR wishes he saved some of the heroin for himself instead of using it all on Frank but decides it’s probably for the best as he has to keep a clear head. TR believes that Eli is dead and says it should have hit the news by now. TR checks his tablet and is shocked to find out Eli is still alive.

Abe calls Paulina, who says it’s nice to hear from him. Abe informs her that there is something she should know as he reveals that Eli was shot earlier today. Paulina asks if he’s alright. Abe says he is at the moment and they are at the hospital. Paulina says she’ll be right there and hangs up.

Lani can’t make out what Eli is saying. Kayla guesses he’s just dreaming. Lani encourages Eli to relax. Eli continues dreaming about getting shot. Lani notes that he seems really agitated. Kayla encourages Lani to keep talking to him and to keep him calm. Lani tells Eli that their family is safe. Valerie adds that the man who did this to him is no longer a threat. Eli then begins having a seizure.

Allie calls Tripp and says she got his text and got all of his stuff that he left in a box, so whenever he wants her to drop it off, he can text or call her. Allie hopes he’s doing well and hangs up.

Chanel tells Beth about Celeste being a psychic and going up against the Devil. Chanel says that Celeste was the first person to sense the Devil was in Salem and mutters that she wishes she was here now. Chanel adds that Celeste was from New Orleans and had Creole accent which Beth notes she will have to work on. Beth comments that TR was right that this is a great part. Chanel calls it interesting that TR was the one who casted her. Beth guesses that she knows TR. Chanel reveals that TR used to date her mom and they have a daughter together, her half-sister Lani. Beth asks if TR and Paulina are close. Chanel says TR would like them to be, but he did some pretty bad stuff to her in the past, so she’s not sure that she can trust him. Chanel mentions that TR apologized to her and seems sincere and he claims he put it all behind him, but she doesn’t think men like that can change. Chanel notes that Paulina thinks everyone deserves a second chance, so maybe she’s right. Beth tells Chanel that she has something she needs to tell her, but she gets a call from Shawn, who asks her to come down to the police station right away.

Paulina goes to the hospital and sits with Julie and Abe. Paulina tells Julie that she’s so sorry this happened and that she knows how much she loves Eli, like they all do. TR then arrives and claims to Paulina that he just heard about Eli and asks how he is. Paulina responds that he’s in recovery and Lani is with him now. TR asks if Eli is awake. Julie says not as far as they know. TR introduces himself to Abe as Lani’s father. Julie didn’t know he was in the picture. TR calls it a recent development and asks who Julie is. Paulina explains that she is Eli’s grandmother and that Abe is the mayor. TR calls Abe the man that Lani thought was his dad. Abe clarifies that he is her dad. TR appreciates Abe looking out for his little girl and says he doesn’t know how to thank him. Abe responds that he doesn’t need his thanks. Abe declares that being Lani’s father is the greatest gift in his life and Lani will always be his daughter, so he’ll do his best to protect her which means he’s going to have to ask TR to leave.

Lani panics as Kayla begins to work on Eli. Kayla asks Lani to leave the room. Valerie agrees to take Lani out but says she will be back to help. Lani cries that they have to save Eli. Valerie promises to do everything they can.

Chanel goes to see Allie and says she thinks she has good news as she just met the new Celeste since apparently TR gave someone else the part. Allie asks if this means they are off the hook and don’t have to do the movie. Chanel hopes so. Allie notes that would be very good news. Allie adds that Chanel was just in time because she made snickerdoodles for Will. Chanel calls it nice to finally meet Will and jokes that he’s a hottie. Allie reminds him that he’s her gay brother and married. Chanel assures that she’s done dating her family and asks if they had fun catching up. Allie says they did and reveals that they spent a lot of time talking about Chanel.

Beth meets Shawn in the interrogation room at the police station and asks what this is about. Shawn informs her of Eli being shot by a local drug dealer. Beth says that’s awful but asks what it has to do with her. Shawn says that she was the last person to see Eli before the shooting, so he hoped that she could shed some light on why Eli was in the park. Beth responds that all he said was that he had something to take care of and it wouldn’t be long, but then he never came back and now she knows why. Beth comments on Lani being young to be a widow. Shawn then reveals that Eli is still alive and was just getting out of surgery, so he’s hoping soon that he will be able to tell him what really went down. Beth thinks back to warning Eli to keep TR away from his wife and kids because he is the Devil. Beth guesses that Eli being alive changes everything.

Abe asks TR to leave. TR asks why he would do that when he’s family. TR adds that he and Lani have already started to bond so he’s sure she wouldn’t have a problem with him being here. Abe argues that he does because he knows what TR did to Paulina and he’s not comfortable having him around her, his daughter, or his grandchildren. TR understands why Abe wouldn’t want him around, but assures him that he has changed and he would really like to have a chance to be here for his daughter. Lani comes out from Eli’s room so Julie asks how he is. Lani cries that she doesn’t understand as they were talking to him about what happened. TR cuts her off and quickly says he can explain. Lani questions what he could explain.

Kayla and Valerie work to try to stop Eli’s seizure.

Chanel doesn’t know if she should be flattered or scared that Allie was talking to her brother about her. Allie suggests a little of both. Chanel asks if Allie told Will that they slept together. Allie confirms that she did because she wanted him to hear it from her and she also wanted his help with figuring out what her feelings for her mean and if she’s gay. Chanel asks what Will said. Allie says that Will told her he couldn’t answer that for her but he told her about his experience and it was really helpful. Allie adds that she thought a lot about it and she understands now that her experience and Will’s are different. Allie says Will was in the closet and used to sleep with women even though he wasn’t really into it but then he came out and realized he’s gay while she’s not and she knows that because she’s definitely attracted to men but she knows she’s not completely straight because clearly she’s attracted to Chanel. Allie reveals that Will thinks that she’s bisexual and she thinks he might be right.

Shawn questions Beth saying that Eli being alive changes everything. Beth claims she just meant for Lani since she still has her husband. Shawn informs her that Lani told him that Beth met with Eli to discuss her relationship with TR Coates. Beth emphasizes that was a past relationship. Shawn asks if she can tell him what was said during that meeting. Beth calls it a private matter. Shawn understands but someone shot and injured one of his officers today, so it’s his job to find out what happened to him and in order to do that, he needs as much information as possible. Beth doubts anything she would say would be relevant. Shawn says sometimes the little things can be what cracks the case wide open. Shawn asks Beth to tell him what she told Eli and to not leave anything out.

TR apologizes to Lani for jumping in like that. Lani asks what he wanted to explain. TR claims he was just going to explain why he’s here and says he read about what happened to Eli. Lani thought Abe said he asked Shawn not to release any information to the media. Abe confirms that he did but every reporter is on social media. TR tells Lani that he didn’t mean to intrude as they just started to get to know one another, but he wanted to come show his support if that’s alright with her. Lani says it’s fine. Julie wants to get back to the subject of Eli and asks Lani what he said about the shooting. Lani says he was just mumbling in his sleep and then he had a seizure. Lani adds that Kayla asked her to leave while Valerie stayed to help, so she doesn’t know what’s happening. Paulina hugs Lani and encourages that everything will be alright. Kayla comes over and confirms Eli’s seizure but they were able to get it under control. Kayla then announces that Eli is now in a coma. Kayla says it’s impossible to predict when a patient will come out of a coma, so they will just have to let Eli’s body heal itself and then see what happens. Lani asks Abe to check with the babysitter which he agrees to do as Lani heads back to Eli’s room. Paulina encourages Julie that everything is going to be alright. Shawn returns and asks what’s going on. Julie informs him that Eli’s in a coma and asks if he found anything out about the shooting. Shawn looks at TR and says he’d rather not discuss that information in front of a stranger. TR remarks that he’s not a stranger, he’s Lani’s father. Shawn introduces himself and reveals that he just interviewed TR’s ex-girlfriend, Beth Howard. Paulina shouts out that she just met Beth and questions that being his ex. TR responds that they dated a year ago but it’s been over for awhile. Paulina asks why Shawn needed to speak with her. Shawn explains that Eli just left a meeting with Beth before going to the park. Paulina asks what the meeting was about. Shawn informs her that Eli had some questions about Beth’s relationship with TR. Paulina argues that TR told her that he got clean years ago after prison and swore he wasn’t using drugs and that he hadn’t raised his hand to another woman since. Paulina says she wanted to verify his story and Eli offered to help by digging in to his past to see if he was telling the truth. Paulina asks what Beth had to say about her relationship with TR. Abe adds that he’d like to hear the answer that himself.

Chanel asks Allie if she’s comfortable identifying as bisexual. Allie says she thinks so and that it feels right. Allie asks if that’s weird since Chanel isn’t big on labels. Chanel says she would never judge her. Allie says talking to Will made her realize how much pressure she had been putting on herself to choose gay or straight and now she knows she doesn’t have to. Allie says what helped her was remembering when Paulina found out they kissed and Chanel explained that she wasn’t gay, just sometimes she kisses girls and sometimes she kisses boys. Allie guesses she does too but some people might call themselves bisexual while others might not and that’s okay. Allie is still processing it but is seeing herself through a new lens and embracing who she is. Allie says she feels good and more at peace. Chanel says she’s happy for her. Allie just wishes she could have figured out her sexual identity before hurting Tripp. Chanel says she didn’t mean to but Allie says it doesn’t make it any less painful. Chanel asks if there’s any chance but Allie says no since Tripp made it very clear they are over, asked for his ring back, and now all of his stuff back. Chanel mentions that she made a plea on her behalf but he wouldn’t listen. Allie thanks her for trying and calls her a good friend.

Shawn says he spoke a great length with Beth and she had a lot to say. Shawn reveals that Beth confirmed that during her relationship with TR, there was no physical violence and that he was sober for the entire time. Paulina is relieved to hear that. Julie asks if Beth knew why Eli went to the park and faced off with a drug dealer but Shawn says no. Abe guesses they won’t have the full picture until Eli wakes up.

Valerie sits at Eli’s side and encourages him to come back to her. Kayla brings Lani back in to the room as Valerie breaks down crying over Eli.

Chanel tells Allie that they are in the same boat as part of her still loves Johnny but there is zero chance of them getting back together. Allie says before realizing that she was bisexual, she couldn’t imagine her and Chanel together as a couple and usually she’d say jumping into a new relationship right after an old one ends is a terrible idea, but Chanel is her best friend and they know everything about each other. Allie adds that they obviously have feelings for each other. Allie says now that they are both single, maybe this is their chance to give them a shot and see if they have a future. Chanel asks if she means as a couple. Allie says yes unless that sounds crazy. Chanel says it definitely sounds crazy but she absolutely loves it. Chanel and Allie then kiss each other.

Shawn takes Julie to the chapel to say a prayer for Eli. Paulina hopes TR understands why she had Eli look in to him. TR says of course and he’s glad she did because now she knows that he’s telling the truth that he’s a changed man. TR tells her that he’s going to be in Salem for awhile so he has plenty of time to earn her trust, which he fully intends to do, but right now they have to put their issues aside and be there for Lani. Paulina cries about Lani and the twins possibly losing Eli. Abe finishes a call and looks over to see TR comforting Paulina.

Lani tells Eli how much she loves him and tells him to take as much time as he needs to recover. Lani cries that they will be fine and she knows he will be too.

Chase gives Brook Lynn a hard time for leaving town so quickly and wonders if it’s because he kissed her. She assures him that it wasn’t personal and how she was upset about Maxie taking Bailey back. Their reunion is sweet and awkward. He takes out her songbook that she left behind and sings her one of the songs he liked. She is touched. He pours on the compliments, making her feel better. He thinks she should be a songwriter, even if she can’t sing any more.

Joss and Carly confront Esme at Metro Court about the video; Esme denies it and pretends to be sympathetic as she accuses Trina of leaking the video and then saying nasty things to them both. Carly grabs her arm, so Esme pretends to cry and scream in pain. Nikolas comes over and rescues her, yelling at Carly. Carly vows to find proof and make her pay. Joss is upset about messages she keeps getting and feels her life has been destroyed. Carly phones Diane for hel

Nikolas takes Esme to the hospital, where she’s examined. Her arm has a nasty bruise. He believes that Carly did it and is sympathetic. Esme goes on and on about how “they” are treating her. He asks if they’re right and points out that Esme has done some bad things in the past. Nikolas doesn’t think that she’s the type to let people get her down. She’s missing Spence and feels judged by everyone. He thinks that they could definitely be more supportive of her. They have a nice chat. She offers to give him something he wants – Spencer at his vow renewal ceremony. She thanks him, holding his hands and smiling at him.

Cam visits Spencer, who blasts him for filming Joss. Cam denies it. They argue. Cam points out that Spencer is just upset because only Esme or Trina on could have set it up. Spencer denies that he has feelings for Trina and doesn’t see how Esme could have done it, since they were long gone. Cam points out that she could have started the recording before she left. Spencer thinks it’s just a theory. Cam keeps on his case about Esme. He’s worried that this fiasco might cost him Josslyn andthat she won’t trust him any more. Spence assures him that Joss is stronger than that. Cam shares with him how others have been shaming him and Joss – especially Joss. Spencer and Cam apologize to each other. Spencer knows that Trina isn’t responsible for the video, either, but he doesn’t think it was Esme, either. Cam points out that it has to be her.

Selina confronts Curtis at The Savoy. She wants him to partner with her on a back-room high stakes poker game, but he declines. She keeps working on him, flattering his reputation and how classy his place is. She tells him that she won’t even be there because she plans to put her family member Brad in charge of the games. Although she says it’s perfectly legal, he wonders why. She explains that she’s just doing it so that the rich people will be grateful to her. Curtis says he’s too busy to do it. She warns him not to do something he might regret. She tells him an old proverb about a man growing a money tree and suggests that he think her proposition over. Later, Selina sends Curtis a money tree with a sweet card, with a red ribbon attached to a casino chip.

Britt and Brad have a night out drinking at the Metro Court. Brad points out that Peter’s gone, so she’s free. She still has to put the past behind her. They talk about how “Aunt Selina” wants to keep them apart. She suggests they go somewhere else less conspicuous, but he insists on staying to celebrate his new job. She asks him what it is, so he asks her to get him a job at GH. She doesn’t think that would be so easy. He understands but says he’s scared of what else his Aunt Selina might want him to do. Britt changes her mind and says she’ll try to get him in to GH. She thinks that he should use the super-exclusive matchmaking service that her mother gave her for Christmas. They toast with Champagne. Selina watches them through the door, looking angry.

Adam: Hi, it’s me again. I’m, um… I, uh — I’m just calling to see if there have been any updates from michael. Like I said, I’m here if you need me, dad, so call me back when you get this, please.

[ Sighs ] That is the second time I have called my father, and all I can figure is that he is caught up in…something that ashland may have done.

Sally: But part of you is wondering if there’s more to it.

Adam: It has crossed my mind that my father may be icing out yet again.

Nick: So this doctor in peru who helped ashland fake his cancer —

Victor: Michael baldwin has sent me the bank statements, proving that the doctor in peru received a lot of money from a subsidiary of locke communications.

Nick: [ Scoffs ] Man, talk about careless.

Victor: Yeah. Obviously, he had no idea that he would be investigated, especially not by me.

Nick: But he has, and thanks to michael, we’ve got a pretty damning paper trail.

Victor: There’s a problem, though. Michael baldwin is missing.

Nick: What are you talking about, he’s missing?

Victor: I have not heard from him since our last communication, and I have no doubt that ashland locke is behind it.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Wow. Somebody must’ve got to ashland and tipped him off that michael was getting close to the truth.

Victor: And I have people in peru looking for michael baldwin, and I promise you, if something happens to him, if he gets harmed in any way, I’ll hold ashland locke responsible.

Nick: How much of this does victoria know?

Victor: Unfortunately, I had to tell her everything.

Nick: [ Sighs ]

Victor: And turns out that ashland locke…told her that this is all my plot against him.

Nick: Of course he did. He’s worked so hard, he’s spent so much time getting this close to the prize. He’s never gonna walk away. But, dad, if…if victoria refuses to believe what is right in front of her, what can anyone do?

Victor: I’m asking myself the same question, obviously.

Victoria: The peruvian doctor’s bank statements — showing a series of fund transfers from locke communications group into his account. Buying his silence, according to my father. I don’t know how you would explain it.

Ashland: This is the first I’m hearing of it. I can’t explain it.

Victoria: I see.

Ashland: But that’s really the whole point, don’t you think? The reason victor was so eager for you to see that report, part of his plan to damage me in your mind, to paint me as a liar, as some kind of a charlatan who would make up a terminal illness in order to gain an advantage over other people, including — including my own wife.

Victoria: And yet the proof is — is here. That while you were still owner of locke communications group, there was a substantial amount of money being funneled from the small radio division into the pocket of the doctor at the clinic that you underwrite. The same doctor that accused you of fabricating all of this.

Ashland: Kudos to victor.

[ Chuckles ] He wanted to dig up dirt on me, and he found someone who was willing to accommodate him. I cannot wait to get my hands on the person who is trying to set me up. I — [ Sighs ] I’m sorry. [ Chuckles ] I know that losing my temper doesn’t gain me anything.

Victoria: I’m as upset as you are about this. Just think that we need to redirect our energy and find a way to fix it.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Ashland: Trace, hi.

Traci: Hi, jack. Oh, I’m so glad you picked up. Listen, am I calling at a bad time? Did I catch you in the middle of something?

Jack: I know you tried to call me yesterday. I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you, okay?

Traci: Don’t give it another thought. I’m just checking in.

Jack: Good to hear your voice.

Traci: And yours. So how’s it all going? I know that there’s so much for you to deal with.

Jack: You talked to phyllis.

Traci: Yeah, I think she filled me in on everything that’s happened. I know that you went to keemo’s house.

Jack: I’m there right now. A box of keemo’s things, thinking, remembering. Wishing.

Traci: Phyllis said that you found some letters that keemo had written you and never sent.

Jack: Yeah, a whole stack of them. Reading them, I learned that keemo eventually forgave me. Unfortunately, he was never ready to let me back into his life.

Traci: Jack, there’s been so much that was left unsaid between you and your son. My heart is breaking for you.

Phyllis: Okay, I will do that. So I understand why you wouldn’t want to get into it with traci. I mean, it’s a lot to process. It’s, you know, still unfolding.

Jack: True.

Phyllis: How do you want to proceed? What’s your plan?

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Jack: Oh, it’s allie. “Sorry for how I left before. I didn’t mean to be rude, but it’s a lot to take in. I wish you safe travels back to genoa city. All my best, allie nguyen.” Well, I guess my decision’s been made for me. Time to go home.

Phyllis: Wait, what? Are you sure?

Jack: I’m not going to force her into any situation she can’t embrace, at least for now.

Phyllis: There’s something very interesting about that text.

Jack: Like what?

Phyllis: Neither of us told her we were from genoa city.

Jack: Really?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. So how did she know that?

Jack: I could think of any number of explanations.

Phyllis: I can only think of one.

Victoria: If we can figure out who authorized a transfer of funds from your company to the doctor in peru, then I guess we can figure out who’s behind all of this.

Ashland: Possibly.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] The radio division is low-key. I mean, you must know who has access. Unless this is a hack job, it has to be someone from the inside.

Ashland: There’s no one more inside than victor newman.

Victoria: No. No, do not go there.

Ashland: Victoria —

Victoria: No, I won’t listen to it. After hearing my father’s side of the conversation, I am convinced that he would never hurt me in this way.

Ashland: Oh, come on, are you listening to yourself right now? Your family has been attempting to interfere in our relationship since we met.

Victoria: That was always nicholas. My father has supported us up until now. Why would he suddenly come up with this — this ridiculous scheme, trying to frame you?

Ashland: I don’t know. I can’t pretend to get inside his mind. I just know that this began when you told him that we were thinking about changing my title to co-ceo.

Victoria: He would not go to these lengths because he disagreed with a business decision.

Ashland: But he knew he couldn’t talk you out of it. Is it that big of a jump to imagine that he would go to extreme measures?

Victoria: Please don’t fight me on this. We need to figure out who on the inside would be capable of this sort of thing. What is their motive? Why do they want to make you look like you’re lying about having cancer?

Ashland: I know why. Because they want to hurt me in the worst way possible.

Victoria: They want to damage your credibility.

Ashland: I’m not talking about my business reputation. That is what it is. I’m talking about raising the thought in people’s minds that i could be this cruel and this calculating — raising that thought in your mind. That is the worst thing anyone could do to me. Please tell me it’s not working. I don’t care about other people. I need to know that you believe me.

Nick: It’s why I was against this marriage from the beginning. I saw how easily victoria was manipulated by ashland, and now he’s brainwashed her into thinking that he can do no wrong and that he’s the victim here.

Victor: You’re exactly right, son.

Nick: I mean, I can just see him convincing her that he’s a changed man and that he wants to spend what little time he has left with his beautiful bride, and the only thing keeping them from happiness is her terrible family.

Victor: Now he has convinced your sister that he wants to take a more active role. He wants to be more than just an advisor to the company. He wants to be co-ceo.

Nick: After everything you did to stop her from doing that, she still gave up sole control of this company that she fought for years to lead on her own?

Victor: You know they just signed the paperwork to that effect.

Nick: So now he’s her equal at newman/locke, which was obviously his goal all along.

Victor: Yep, and now he had the audacity to inform your mother and me that he wants to take a more active role now that he has miraculously recovered.

Nick: I mean, are you surprised? Ashland played this pretty well. The only thing you can do is turn victoria against him, and so far, we haven’t been able to do that. So what are you gonna do?

Victor: Not what I’m gonna do, son. It’s what you’re gonna do.

We’re still not in a good place. And now victoria knows that you have all this proof about all of ashland’s lies, she knows that michael may be missing, and she’s still siding with the guy? I just don’t know what it is you think I can accomplish.

Victor: Son, I’m asking you to do it for me, for the family. What have you got to lose?

Phyllis: Well, if keemo never told allie about you in the first place, then she wouldn’t know where you were from. She obviously did a search on you.

Jack: Perhaps.

Phyllis: Not perhaps. It takes five seconds to search someone out on the internet. Come on, give me a break. So it means she’s curious about you and her newfound family.

Jack: I appreciate your efforts to give me hope, but I’m going to leave things be right now.

Phyllis: Why?

Jack: Because I have to consider how this is going to affect allie, regardless of what I want. I would like nothing more than to have a relationship with my son’s child, this granddaughter I never knew I had, but I can’t risk doing to her what I did to keemo — pushing too hard.

Phyllis: Okay. It is wise that you are respectful of her feelings.

Jack: Thank you for acknowledging that.

Phyllis: Sure, sure. I’m sure she’s in shock after what she learned.

Jack: Of course she is. She’s grappling with the fact that her father never wanted her to know that I existed. I’m gonna back off for right now, let her have time and space to figure out how to handle this.

Phyllis: Of course you have a lot to process, both of you.

Jack: You know, it’s time to go home. There’s not — nothing left to do here.

Phyllis: Oh, oh, I completely disagree with that. There’s something you should do.

Jack: Which is?

Phyllis: Jack, you have to find out who prodded you to come here to los angeles, to meet allie in the first place.

Jack: [ Sighs ] Hi, I’m debra.

Jack: Look, I know you love a good mystery. However —

Phyllis: Wait, wait. “However”? I mean, you learned so much here. I mean, don’t you want to find out who insistently texted you and convinced you to come out here and pursue this?

Jack: I’ve had enough of investigations. I have one loose end I need to tie up, and then I want to go home.

Phyllis: Okay. You need some help with this?

Jack: No, I need to give kyle a call. He needs to know this, and i don’t know when I’m gonna see him again.

Phyllis: Okay. Um…I’m just gonna go out on the porch and [Clears throat] Give you some privacy.

Jack: Thank you.

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: Dad, hey, I wasn’t expecting to hear from you. Did I miss a meeting?

Jack: I know it’s late in milan. If you could give me a few minutes, there’s something important I want to discuss with you.

Kyle: Sure. Summer’s putting harrison to bed and won’t be out for a while. What’s going on? Where are you calling from?

Jack: I’m in los angeles. I’m in the house keemo lived in.

Kyle: Wow, keemo. That’s a name I haven’t heard you mention in…forever. You’re out there visiting him?

Jack: Kyle, I have estranged from your older brother for many years now.

Kyle: I didn’t realize that.

Jack: There’s a lot I haven’t told you or anyone else in the family. I’m not gonna get into details now, but I — I learned that keemo recently passed away.

Kyle: Oh, no, dad. I’m so sorry.

Jack: So am I.

Kyle: He was pretty young.

Jack: Yeah, it was a heart attack, very sudden, unexpected, and, of course, premature.

Kyle: [ Exhales sharply ] How are you doing?

Jack: I think I’m still in shock. It’s — it’s been a lot to deal with.

Kyle: I can only imagine.

Jack: And that’s not all. Keemo has a daughter. Her name is allie. I met her today. She’s lovely, bright, and energetic and full of spunk just like her father.

Kyle: My god, that means —

Jack: That means you have a niece and harrison has a brand-new cousin.

Kyle: This has got to be huge for you.

Jack: Yeah, it’s complicated even more by the fact that…he didn’t want her to know i existed.

Kyle: Seriously, nothing?

Jack: Not even my name. In fact, he claimed he never even met his father at all, which gives you some indication of just how bad things were between us.

Kyle: How’s allie handling this?

Jack: I think her world’s been turned upside down on the heels of losing her father. I’m trying to be very careful and not push her or pressure her in any way.

Kyle: Sounds wise.

Jack: Yeah, it’s a delicate time. I don’t know where any of this is gonna go.

Kyle: Dad, I’m always here for you. Anytime, just say the word.

Jack: Thank you, son. I appreciate that.

Kyle: It’s what our family does. I have no doubt in the brief time you spent with allie she realized that.

Victoria: I haven’t changed my mind. I know that you’re innocent.

Ashland: [ Sighs ] Thank you.

Victoria: I just — I’m a little bit shocked at the level of deception that has gone into this and how carefully it’s all been planned. We need to figure out who’s behind this and we need to do that really fast, because the evidence, it’s just growing. It’s growing against you, and it’s just gonna affect everything.

Ashland: I am well aware of how well this campaign is working. Poisoning people’s minds against me just when my condition is finally improving. I should be — I should be celebrating, right? Everything life has to offer. Standing at the top of the world with my beautiful wife. I refuse to let them rob me of this. Rob us.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

[ Sighs ] Sorry.

Victoria: What now?

Ashland: It’s nate. He wants to meet with me.

Victoria: Does he say why?

Ashland: Nope. But I’m pretty sure your father’s been working on him, making me look as guilty as hell.

Victoria: Or maybe — maybe he wants to tell you that he — he’s behind you 100% and that he knows these accusations are not true.

Ashland: You’re right. I shouldn’t jump to the worst possible outcome.

Victoria: No, you shouldn’T.

Ashland: [ Sighs ] I just feel under siege right now. Like I’m waiting for the next attack.

[ Chuckles ] But nate’s a good man, he’s a decent man. He knows my medical records and he knows me.

Victoria: Nate is your friend and he’s your confidante. That’s not gonna disappear overnight.

Sally: Okay, let’s not get melodramatic. I’m not suggesting that you seize any thrones.

Adam: I don’t know. It kind of sounded that way to me. I mean, has becoming coo made you drunk with power?

Sally: I’m just merely pointing out the cold, hard reality that is the situation and what that could mean for our business.

Adam: Okay. Well, in that case, why don’t you enlighten me?

Sally: Okay. Of course I’m flying a little blind here, not knowing what the situation is exactly. But victor has made it very clear that he’s gonna look out for victoria, right? And ashland’s gonna look out for himself, like always. And victoria is going to protect her pride and her family with one notable exception. That leaves you to look out for yourself with me backing you the whole way, and if that means that you have to step up and fill a leadership void, so be it. Victor, I did not see you there.

Victor: Could I have a moment with my son, please?

Adam: We — we can follow up later, sally. I was starting to think you were ignoring me.

Victor: I have a lot on my mind, my son. Nothing to do with you, okay?

Adam: Okay.

Victor: [ Exhales sharply ] Tried talking to victoria. She won’t listen to me.

Adam: Even with all the evidence that you’ve gathered against ashland?

Victor: She seems to be too much in love with that man. She can’t believe that he would betray her like this.

Adam: Okay, but then what is the plan? I mean, I assume you have a plan, one that I can help you with to get rid of locke before he digs his claws further into this company.

Victor: I’ve talked to nicholas. I asked him to speak with victoria.

Adam: I mean, that — that’s it? You got to be kidding me.

Ashland: Hey. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting. I got here as quick as I could.

Nate: Have a seat.

Ashland: Okay. Uh…huh. Victor, uh…has got to you, hasn’t he? No, it really doesn’t surprise me. I mean, he tried once, didn’t succeed, tried again. Victor is trying to poison your mind against me, which I find reprehensible, but here we are. So what did he say? Uh, I’m sure it has something to do with how I supposedly lied about my illness, but you know better than that. Don’t you? You’ve seen my test results.

Nate: Hmm. The confirmation of your late-stage cancer.

Ashland: Mm-hmm.

Nate: Yes, I saw that. But after we spoke, it dawned on me — those results were all i had to go on. And they came from you.

Ashland: I’m not sure I like where this is going.

Nate: I didn’t like it much either.

Ashland: So what exactly are you saying, nate?

Nate: I hate the thought that someone would use a horrible disease for financial gain or, worse yet, to deceive victoria and her entire family. Plus, I don’t like being used. So I dug deeper.

Phyllis: Well, you had a good talk to kyle. I’m glad.

Jack: Yeah. By the time he hung up, I think his head was spinning.

Phyllis: Mm, think he can handle it.

Jack: It’s amazing, he never got to meet his older brother. And now he never will.

Phyllis: Don’t go down that path. No good can come of that.

Jack: No, no, you’re right, you’re right. The…

[ Sighs ] …Silver lining, if there is one, is that keemo’s death will not be a loss for kyle. Actually, he was only worried about me. Tried to reassure me that things went well in the way things ended with allie.

Phyllis: That’s very kind. He’s a good — he’s a good kid. And he’s tough, like his dad.

Jack: I probably haven’t said this enough, but thank you for being here with me. I — I know you keep saying it’s nothing, but you put your whole life on hold and came halfway across the country with me.

Phyllis: I was happy to do it. Alright? And you don’t have to keep on thanking me.

Jack: No, I want to. Thank you for prodding me. Thank you for knowing when to lay off. I know you bit your tongue a couple of times —

Phyllis: It didn’t draw blood. It’s okay. No blood.

Jack: Okay, red. Time to go home. Allie.

Allie: I’m glad I caught you before you left. (Michael) copd is harder on the folks around you, I think.

Allie: I hope you don’t mind I came by again.

Jack: No, not at all. Please, come in.

Allie: Thank you. Um… I found something of my father’s in my apartment that I thought you might want to have.

Jack: It — it’s exquisite.

Allie: It was created by one of my dad’s favorite artists. He kept it in his study, where he’d be sure to see it every day.

Jack: It’s beautiful, but if it’s important to you, I could not possibly take it.

Allie: I think you should have it. The rift and my dad…it ran deep. But despite everything, it’s so obvious how much you cared about him.

Jack: [ Sniffles ]

Allie: I know that you’re hurting, and so here’s something for you to hold on to. A little piece of your son.

Jack: Thank you. This means the world to me. The fact that you brought it here yourself…it was a lovely, kind, brave thing to do. And I won’t forget it.

Allie: I haven’t changed my mind…about…this. Us. I’m sorry, but I have a lot that I’m going through, with graduate school, dealing with all the legalities of my dad’s death. It’s a lot. And then…and then I have to learn how to move forward without him. Something I haven’t even started to contemplate.

Jack: I understand.

Allie: I know you were hoping for more, but it’s all I can handle right now. It’s all I want.

Jack: And I respect that.

Nick: Hey.

Victoria: Where do you get the nerve to show your face here?

Nick: You know, vick, you’ve been furious at me for months, and when you’re not yelling at me, you’re acting incredibly distant. And at the risk of making things worse, here I am, because i can’t walk away from this. I can’t just ignore what’s happening.

Victoria: What, do you mean dad and his absurd accusations about my husband?

Nick: Dad asked me to come and try and make you see reason. I don’t have any illusions about how you’re gonna react.

Victoria: Then why bother?

Nick: Because you are my sister, and I care about you. I care about your happiness.

Victoria: Then why are you still trying to destroy my marriage?

Nate: You made a point of mentioning your cancer was discovered on a chest x-ray following your heart attack. So I went back into the hospital archives to see the photos for myself. Which I realize crossed a bright red line, ethically speaking. But it told me everything i needed to know. There’s no evidence of cancer on any of those scans.

Ashland: Hmm. Well, uh, you must have reviewed the wrong x-rays or maybe they got mixed up with somebody else’s.

Nate: I considered that, and I double-checked. There’s no mistake.

Ashland: There must have been some kind of manipulation involved or maybe some human error along the way. Look, is that — is that why you looked so grim when I walked in the door here? You think this is somehow proof of victor’s wild accusations against me?

Nate: I anticipated that would be your response, so…I broadened my search. Went looking for your chemotherapy treatments — only I couldn’t find any. It seems there’s no record of you ever having chemo at memorial or any of our affiliated infusion centers. Victor’s right, isn’t he? You don’t have cancer. It’s all been one big, colossal lie. Want more restful sleep?

Jack: Allie, I want you to know I would never force any kind of a relationship on you. I recently lost my mother. I have some idea of the enormity of what you’re dealing with. None of it is easy.

Allie: I appreciate you saying that.

Jack: Thank you for this. I hope you find peace soon. I wish you well in all of your endeavors.

Allie: Same to you. If you’re ever back in la in the future, maybe we could, um, get together or something. Go for coffee.

Jack: I would like that very much. And if you’re ever in the midwest — chicago, wisconsin — I’d love to take you for coffee or dinner. Allie, you have my number. If you need anything, anything at all, just call me. I mean that.

Allie: Yeah. Um… well, um…goodbye.

Jack: Until we meet again. Wow.

Adam: Nick is your strategy for dealing with locke? How’s that gonna work? Because there’s still a lot of distance between him and victoria. And, what, he’s gonna wave his little magic wand or invoke his special sibling bond to get victoria to turn against her husband? Look, victoria has made her stand. She’s impervious to logic at this point, and now she’s putting the company in the hands of some ruthless shark. But, see, we knew that. We knew who ashland was. So, dad, the one who failed this family is victoria.

Nick: I want to see how you’re doing. You know, how you’re really doing. I can’t imagine the pressure you’re under. I also wanted to find out if there’s a chance, if you changed your mind about ashland. You know, if you consider that he may have betrayed you. I know it’s brutal to even think about, but…I also want you to know that…if you need a sounding board or just someone to vent to, I’m here. I’m always here for you.

Victoria: I don’t know what to believe anymore.

[ Sighs ] It can’t be true. Can it?

Ashland: One phone call, and I could have your medical license revoked for what you’ve done.

Nate: Go ahead. Knock yourself out. I was leaving the field anyway. Oh, to come work for you. How ironic.

Ashland: Hmm. So now that you have this illegally obtained information, which is what it is…what do you plan to do with it?

Nate: You left me no choice. I have to inform victor and victoria of what I’ve learned.

Ava: I’m so glad we’re doing this. It’s been ages since we’ve met for lunch somewhere other than the Metro Court.

Nina: Yeah, it’s really nice to be away from the office.

Ava: And it’s, um, much less likely that you… thank you.

Waiter: There you are.

Ava: …Run into Carly here.

Nina: Thank you.

Ava: Oh, uh, hey, by the way, I — I heard from Nikolas that you haven’t followed up with Martin Grey about filing for visitation.

Nina: Yeah, because I’m hopeful that I won’t need Martin to make sure that I have a place in my grandson’s life. I’d like to hold scorched-earth tactics in reserve.

Ava: Oh, Nina, you’re not… you’re not naive enough to believe that the Corinthos family might do the right thing?

Nina: Ava, I assure you that I am not naive. I just… I have someone else advocating for me now.

Willow: [ Clears throat ] Is that what I think it is? One shiny, new passport in all its glory? I’m so glad I paid extra to have it expedited. And now that my big exam’s over and I have a break…

Michael: Alright, well, I will make some calls, and then, Paris, here we come.

Sonny: Oh, sorry to interrupt. The housekeeper let me in.

Michael: Well, you almost never drop by. What’s going on?

Sonny: We need to get on the same page about Nina.

[Voice over] The role of Dr. Monica Quartermaine is temporarily being played by Holly Kaplan.

Monica: Dr. Finn.

Finn: Yes?

Monica: I’m so glad I ran into you.

Finn: Always a pleasure, Dr. Quartermaine.

Monica: It’s been so long since I’ve had the department heads at my house for dinner, so I’m going to set something up this week, and you’ll all get an e-mail about it.

Finn: Okay.

Monica: We can all let off some steam and then get to know each other better outside of the hospital. And, of course, significant others are welcome, so you can invite Elizabeth.

Finn: Oh, well, thank you for the invitation, Dr. Quartermaine, but I would be attending solo. Elizabeth and I have decided to hit pause on our relationship.

Elizabeth: [ Groans ] Stupid machine.

Drew: Easy, there.

Elizabeth: Oh, hi. [ Chuckles nervously ] I’m so frustrated. This — I put my money in, and it’s just stuck.

Drew: Ahh.

[ Elizabeth sighs ]

[ Bag falls ]

Elizabeth: Oh. Thank you. [ Chuckles ] Wish I could learn that trick.

Drew: Navy seal training.

Elizabeth: Oh.

[ Both chuckle ]

Drew: Hey, you want to talk about it?

Elizabeth: [ Groans ] All the pain and suffering we’ve been going through because of Peter? Yeah, well, it finally caught up to my family.

Victor: Johann, good news. Seems that Drew Cain may actually be able to give us access to what we’ve been searching for after all.

Johann: How’s that possible?

Victor: This was amongst the items found on Peter’s dead body. In life, he managed to prevent me from gaining access to Drew’s memories, but in death, he has so graciously given me a way to get everything I so badly need.

Eileen: Laura?

Laura: Eileen, hi.

Eileen: It’s funny running into you here. Your official calendar said you had a meeting with the state’s chamber of commerce.

Laura: Oh, yeah, right. That got rescheduled. I’m just grabbing a quick lunch. See you back at City Hall.

Eileen: Mm-hmm.

Victor: Well?

Eileen: You’ve got a problem.

Victor: Tell me something I don’t know. What is it this time?

Eileen: Sam McCall, Robert Scorpio, and Laura Collins are getting too close.

Laura: Just ran into my Deputy Mayor out there. Hope I didn’t keep anybody waiting.

Dante: Oh, no, Sam and I just got here.

Robert: Well, at last we are all assembled — the group that are going to take out Victor Cassadine.

Felicia: Is all this subterfuge really necessary?

Anna: Uh, yes. I mean, we have to be careful that none of Victor’s associates are hanging around, keeping watch on this place. Thankfully, when I spoke with Frisco, he didn’t ask too many questions.

Felicia: He never did.

Anna: On the books, it just says that we’re spending the next few hours being debriefed by the Bureau about all the circumstances surrounding Peter’s death.

Felicia: Transportation bureau’s office looks like it’s going to be closing for the night soon.

Anna: Oh, yeah, you’re right. Can’t waste a moment. We really need to find proof that Luke didn’t die in a random accident — he was murdered.

[ Door opens ]

[ Conversing in German ]

Clerk One: There you are. It’s not like you to be late.

Clerk Two: Ja, ja.

Clerk One: My shift’s over.

Clerk Two: Gut.

Clerk One: I’ll see you in the morning.

Clerk Two: Bis morgen.

Clerk One: Good night.

Clerk Two: Tschuss

[ Door opens ]

[ Felicia crying ]

Anna: Guten abend.

Clerk Two: (Speaking German) We will be closing soon.

Anna: Okay. Um, I’m — I’m so sorry that this is last minute, but, uh, I’m wondering if you could help us with, um, a really important matter.

[ Crying continues ]

Johann: That card is going to allow you to access Drew Cain’s old memories?

Victor: Huh. There’s only one way to find out. I’ll have to lure Drew to some secluded location and then activate the conditioning.

Johann: You tried that before, and it didn’t work out.

Victor: That’s because I was misled by Peter with the wrong tarot card.

Johann: Drew figured out what you were doing. You denied it once. You try that again, there’ll be no denying it.

Victor: You make an excellent point. Oh, it’d be a terrible waste, but if the conditioning of Drew doesn’t work this time, he’ll just have to be eliminated.

Drew: I’m so sorry to hear that your family is suffering, Elizabeth. Do you want to talk about it?

Elizabeth: [ Chuckles ] You don’t need me to unload all my baggage. I’m sure you’ve got enough going on in your life. I mean, Peter took two years from you that you can’t get back.

Drew: Hey, I am always here for you and for your family. I hope you know that.

Elizabeth: Alright. Some really strange things have been happening recently. And they all relate to Franco. At first, I thought it was his mom, but it turns out she was hospitalized at the time, and now, as much as I don’t want to admit it, all signs are starting to point to Jake.

Monica: I am very sorry to hear about you and Elizabeth. I always liked you two as a couple.

Finn: So did I. Maybe someday, but Elizabeth decided now wasn’t the right time to pursue something.

Monica: Well, it’s none of my business, but please know that I always rooted for both of you. I’m very fond of you, and I always had a soft spot for Elizabeth in my heart. I’ve known her since she was a teenager, and she was my daughter Emily’s best friend. And she’s the mother of my grandson, Jake. And my connection to her family goes back even further, because way back in the day, I was married to her father.

Finn: You were married to Jeff Webber?

Monica: Oh, yes. Even though it seems like a lifetime ago.

Finn: Huh.

Monica: But it certainly didn’t end well. Neither of us were faithful. But I know Jeff’s lived a life of service as a doctor to the underserved all around the world. But still, it just breaks my heart that he doesn’t have a relationship with Elizabeth or his grandsons. I always wondered what happened there, but then, I guess you never know what really goes on in families, do you?

Finn: Judging by my own difficult family history, no. No, you don’t.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

Michael: Look, Willow and I are already on the same page regarding Nina.

Willow: I assume this is about Wiley.

Sonny: Yeah, I know you and Nina got into it the other day.

Willow: Is that how Nina described it? Nina thought I didn’t know what happened between the two of you. She tried to exploit my ignorance to get a visit with Wiley, and I made it clear that wasn’t going to happen.

Sonny: Okay, see, that’s the thing. You gotta keep my private life out of this.

Michael: Dad, come on, this isn’t about you. This is about Nina. She lied to us over and over again. We don’t trust her.

Sonny: Do I have to remind you that grandparents have rights in the state of New York and Wiley and Nina are blood family, Michael?

Michael: Yeah, look, Nina has a right to go before a judge and petition for the right to see Wiley, and there’s no guarantee that that petition will work, especially since Willow and I have a right to argue against visitation. Then it’s up to a judge to decide.

Sonny: Okay, what if I can get Nina to back off and not file that motion in court to begin with?

Michael: W-w-why — why would she do that?

Sonny: Because I believe I can convince Nina to not do that, and then we all get what we want.

Ava: Did you fire Martin and hire a different lawyer?

Nina: No, my current plan is to try to avoid going to court.

Ava: How?

Nina: Well… Sonny offered to talk to Michael and Willow, to try to get them to see the wisdom in lowering the temperature on all of this — you know, get them to see that they’re better off not having a court ruling on this matter.

Ava: I see.

Nina: Hey, what — what does that mean?

Ava: Nothing. I… I just don’t want you to have false hope.

Nina: Sonny seems convinced it’s going to work.

Ava: Mmm. Sonny thought a lot of his recent plans were gonna work, though, right?

Nina: Well, it’s not his fault that Carly was combative and unreasonable.

Ava: Carly is always combative and unreasonable. It’s a little late for Sonny to complain about that now. But — but that doesn’t even matter, does it? Because they’re divorced and… Sonny is going to bat for you.

Nina: He is just trying to find an equitable solution.

Ava: Hmm. He’s trying to impress you. I’ve known Sonny for a long time, and the man cannot be without a woman. He’s one of those. And now that Carly is out of the way, y-you have your opening to get in there and get what you want. Right? I mean, correct me if I’m wrong, but you do want Sonny. Don’t you?

Felicia: [ Sobbing ]

Anna: There we go. Okay. Yes, you just sit there. Uh, I’m so sorry. Do you, by any chance, speak English? Because my German is a bit rubbish.

Clerk Two: Uh, I’ll do my best.

Anna: Oh, perfect. Thank you. I’m an attorney, and I’m representing the Randolph Forsythe estate.

[ Felicia sobbing loudly ]

Anna: And, um, this is his widow. And Felicia has been led to believe that her late husband was a passenger onboard that cable car that had that tragic accident back in December. Uh, yes. Unfortunately, the investigators were unable to find any evidence to prove that Randolph was indeed onboard. And, you know, as you can imagine, that’s left the estate in flux and…

Felicia: [ Sobbing continues ]

Anna: So, uh, what I was hoping was that maybe we could have a look at the evidence, just to see if we can find some actual proof that he was indeed a passenger.

Clerk Two: Oh, I’m not authorized to let anyone see the records, outside of government officials.

Felicia: I told you that this would be a waste of time! This issue will never end! [ Loudly sobbing ]

Anna: Herr Forsythe… [ Speaking German ] Mr. Forsythe told my client that he was in Austria, but I have reason to believe he’s alive and ran off with his mistress instead. If my client see proof her husband wasn’t on board, she can move on with her life.

Felicia: [ Sobbing ]

Anna: [ Speaking German ] Please help me give her some closure.

Clerk: But I can’t allow you access to the computers.

Anna: [ Sighs ]

Clerk Two: But… I’ll let you see the hard copies.

Felicia: [ Gasps ] Yes! That will work! Oh, yes! Thank you, kind sir. A thousand thank yous. Yes!

Laura: So Victor took the bait? He thinks he has the tarot card that’s going to activate Drew’s conditioning?

Sam: Yeah. He thinks that Peter had it on him when he died.

Dante: He thinks he’s got the key. He’s going to reach out to Drew.

Robert: Um, bit unorthodox, don’t you think?

Dante: Yeah, I thought so at first, too, but I think it’s going to work.

Laura: Is anyone concerned that he might actually be able to activate Drew?

Dante: Not with that card, but we’re going to be monitoring the situation in real time. And Drew’s aware, he’s in the loop. He knows what’s going on. Hopefully, we get something incriminating out of Victor.

Robert: Children, this is insanely convoluted. You realize that? I mean, it’s clever, but, wsht!

Laura: Well, hopefully, it leads us somewhere, because I still can’t fully understand how these things are connected. If Luke was killed for the Ice Princess diamond, what does that have to do with Drew’s past?

Nina: It’s not as simple as wanting Sonny or not.

Ava: Well, I hope you’re not worried about the fallout from Sonny’s family, ’cause that ship has certainly sailed.

Nina: Yeah, I know that, trust me. No, it’s not about that.

Ava: Then what are you waiting for?

Nina: The Mike that I fell in love with in Nixon Falls is very much who Sonny is now, but recently, I’ve been confronted with a side of Sonny that I… I-I don’t really know.

Ava: What? What? How so?

Nina: Well, I went to his penthouse the other night, and I… Ava, sometimes I just don’t recognize him, and it makes me wonder if I’m just repeating my self-destructive patterns

Sonny: I don’t think that Nina will file a legal motion if you allow her to see Wiley from time to time.

Michael: We don’t want that.

Sonny: [ Sighs ] Didn’t I say, Michael, that Nina and Wiley are blood related? Right? If — if… you get the courts involved, they could rule against you, and then the courts are going to dictate Nina’s visitation time. All you got to do is let her see Wiley from time to time, and you’re going to be dictating the terms.

Michael: Willow and I, we don’t think it’s healthy for Nina to be in Wiley’s life. So what — what do we gain by, uh, playing along?

Willow: I know you have feelings for Nina, but to be perfectly honest, I don’t trust her. Even if Michael and I agree to a compromise, there’s a strong chance Nina will still file a legal claim.

Sonny: You don’t trust her? I trust her.

Michael: See, that — that right there is a problem, because you shouldn’t trust Nina.

Drew: Do you really think Jake is behind the incidents?

Elizabeth: Well, I don’t want to. But you were there when he first came home, after he’d been kidnapped by Helena. There was a darkness about him. And do you remember what happened in my old home, when Sam was trapped in the basement?

Drew: Now, that was an accident, and we proved it. And Jake was able to recover from what happened on Cassadine Island because he had you to help him. He had a family that he could count on. Right? So if Jake is struggling, I know — I know — that you have the strength to help him through that again.

Monica: Jake, what’s going on?

Finn: Do you have an appointment? Does your mom know where you are?

Monica: Jake, talk to me. You know you can tell me anything.

Finn: Monica, do you mind if, um, Jake and I have a moment alone?

Monica: He’s, my grandson.

Finn: No, I realize that, yeah, but, um… there might be some things that, uh, you don’t want to, you know, disclose to your grandmother, you know?

Monica: Okay, Jake, let’s swap spots.

Finn: Where’s your mom? I mean, does she know where you are?

Jake: No. You can’t make me go back there.

Finn: Jake…

[ Door closes ]

Finn: Obviously, something’s bothering you. What’s going on? You don’t want to talk to me, that’s fine. I can…page your mom. She can come down and sort all this out.

Jake: Alright, fine. I’ll talk to you.

Finn: Okay.

Jake: I had an appointment with Dr. Massey. I told her I had to use the bathroom, and then I made a run for it.

Finn: You made a run for it? Okay. So why’d you take off? What was that all about?

Jake: It’s — whatever. Just forget it.

Finn: No, I can’t forget about it. You know, I mean, we’ve got rules here. If you don’t go back to Dr. Massey’s office soon, then she’s gonna call hospital security. I mean, there’s a whole procedure for when a child goes missing.

Jake: I’m not a child.

Finn: I-I realize that. I meant when a minor goes missing. As a matter of fact, I could get fired if I don’t call this in, so unless you can give me a good reason why I don’t take you back…

Jake: I’m not going back there. I’m tired of being accused of setting Franco’s studio on fire.

Elizabeth: Thank you for your support. I needed to hear that.

Drew: Ah.

Elizabeth: Here.

Monica: Elizabeth. Sorry to interrupt you, but I just saw Jake down on the first floor. It seems like he skipped out on his doctor’s appointment.

Elizabeth: What? Oh, I need to go find him.

Monica: No, he’s okay. He’s with Finn. And they wanted, you know, to have their privacy. But, you know, maybe Jake will open up to Finn. But can I ask you something? What is going on with my grandson?

Elizabeth: I made him an appointment with Dr. Massey. He’s going through something.

Monica: Of course, that’s understandable. He’s lost his — his stepfather and his dad all in the same year. That’d be hard for anyone.

Elizabeth: Yeah, um… I think we might also be dealing with some behavioral issues.

Monica: I’m sorry to hear that. Losing Franco and then Jason, it’s just too much.

Michael: You can’t let go of your feelings for Nina. That’s why you trust her. N-not because she’s trustworthy. I mean, come on, she lied to your wife and your kids for almost a year about you being alive. Now, that should be a major red flag, but I don’t understand why it’s not.

Sonny: What you don’t understand is I already confronted that issue, Michael. I’m just trying to take down the temperature here. That’s all.

Willow: I appreciate your intentions. But we are past the point where turning down the temperature will do any good.

Sonny: Alright. Well, you know what? It was a mistake to even come here.

Michael: You’re right, it is, because, once again, you’re choosing Nina’s interests over your family.

Ava: I thought we’d already addressed this. Or are you slipping back into “poor me” territory?

Nina: No.

Ava: You wanted Sonny. You took him. What, you’re gonna have a crisis of conscience about it now?

Nina: It’s not about that, Ava. [ Sighs ] Sonny, he’s just dealing with some issues right now, and I-I think it’s wise for me to just stay away from him until it’s settled.

Ava: Okay. But it’s okay that he goes to bat for you, though? Alright, what — what are these… issues that you’re talking about?

[ Door closes ]

Victor: My dear Ava. Ah! Looking as a ravishing, as always.

Ava: Ah, Uncle Victor, you’re too kind. D-do you know my friend, Nina reeves?

Victor: My wayward son’s ex-wife. Oh, it’s such a shame you and Valentin couldn’t make things work.

Nina: Well, sadly, I couldn’t trust him. I see now where he has inherited that trait.

[ Conversing in German ]

Clerk One: Did you see my phone in the office?

Clerk Two: Ah, ah. Bitte. There are two women inside. An American, and a Brit. I know they’re not authorized, but one of them had family in December’s accident.

Clerk One: Describe them; what do they look like?

Felicia: Okay, so the recordkeeper is still gone. What exactly are we looking for?

Anna: Gosh, I-I-i don’t know, really. Just some kind of inconsistency that can lead us somewhere.

Felicia: Mm.

Anna: You were really hamming it up with the whole grieving widow thing back there.

Felicia: Oh, I’m sorry. I was so nervous. I’m so out of practice with the whole undercover stuff. Was it too much?

Anna: Well, I’m just grateful that you were playing an American, ’cause god knows what you would do with an accent.

Felicia: Oh, stop. You know, since the Floating Rib is gone, maybe I could get back into the PI game. What do you think? That enthusiastic, huh?

Ann: No, I might have found something that can prove that the cable car crash was no accident.

Elizabeth: It’s no wonder he wasn’t ready for me to start dating again.

Monica: I suspect the circumstances surrounding Jason’s death haven’t helped.

Drew: Which means we’re all kind of in a state of flux.

Monica: Elizabeth, do you need me to stick around?

Elizabeth: Oh, no, thank you, but I’m okay. I’m going to be okay.

Drew: I’ll see you at home, okay?

Monica: Take care, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth: Okay. And you don’t need to stick around, either.

Drew: Come on. It’s what family’s for.

Finn: Why do you think Dr. Massey believes you burned down Franco’s art studio?

Jake: You believe it, too. So does my mom. That’s why I had to go see Dr. Massey. I already know the drill. I’ve been in and out of therapy since I was 8 years old. Ever since what happened to me, I… no wonder people think I’m crazy.

Finn: Jake, no one believes that.

Jake: Well, clearly, my mom and Dr. Massey are still thinking I’m disturbed like I was when I was a kid. That’s why she’s asking me all these leading questions, like was I really at a friend’s house the night the studio burned? Or why was I at the library when a picture of my mom showed up at the house?

Finn: Okay, well, maybe there’s another way to look at this. I mean… people are acknowledging that you’ve been through a lot this past year. You were close with Franco. And not only did you lose him, but you lost your dad as well.

Jake: My mom lost Franco, too. So why would I want to torture her like that? I want her to be happy.

Finn: Even if it means she’s maybe moving on from Franco?

Dante: Could we, you know, maybe be complicating this in a certain way? I mean, look, the Ice Princess is worth the GDP of a small country. Maybe Victor’s literally just after the money.

Sam: I mean, it certainly motivates a lot of people, but…

Robert: Laura and I dealt with Victor back in the day. [ Scoffs ] The guy’s a playboy.

Laura: [ Chuckles ] Uh, yeah. He was that. He liked the finer things in life. I would say that he was mostly motivated by lust and greed. Although, you know, lately, I have noticed that he seems to like to play God. The Ice Princess diamond, Luke’s death, and… something that Drew’s supposed to remember. They add up to something.

Eileen: Mayor Collins? Is there something going on that I should know about?

Ava: Nina, you’re talking to a member of my family.

Victor: Oh, that’s all right. There’s really no escaping my less-than-reputable past, which is why I intend to make amends in the future by giving back to the world.

Nina: Through what, charity?

Victor: Something like that.

Nina: For Valentin’s sake, I hope that’s the truth.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Victor: Oh, excuse me. I’m afraid I have to take this. Uh… [ Ringing continues ] I’ll see you soon, my dear Ava.

Ava: Yes, indeed. I so look forward to it.

Nina: What the hell was all that about?

Felicia: You have my full attention. What did you find?

Anna: Okay, so this is the schedule of the day of the accident. Okay, and now, the cable car in question was supposed to leave the dock, right here, at 9:15 A.M., But it didn’t actually leave until 9:27 A.M.

Felicia: Well, that’s not unusual, right? I mean, delays happen all the time with public transportation. Subways usually have a schedule, but everyone knows they bear little resemblance to reality.

Anna: Right, but this is Austria, okay, and that’s a 12-minute delay, and it should be noted in the records, but it isn’t. There’s nothing here. There’s no engine trouble. There’s no weather issues, no staffing issues.

Felicia: Maybe the car was deliberately held back until Luke arrived to ensure he was on it.

Anna: That’s what I’m thinking. And as we both know, Luke spencer was never punctual a day in his life, so it’s as good a theory as any.

Victor: [ Speaking to Clerk One ] Yes, Kurt. What do you want?

Kurt: We have a situation. There are two women in the records room looking for information about the crash.

Victor: Two women, you say? By any chance, is one of them an American blonde, and the other a British brunette?

Kurt: That’s exactly how my colleague described them. Do you know who they are?

Victor: Yeah, I’m afraid I do. The Brit is a senior WSB agent. I knew she was in the area. I just wasn’t aware she was there to investigate the crash.

Kurt: She’s in the records room right now. I was working inspection the day of the crash. She could uncover the truth.

Victor: Yeah, well, she won’t, will she? Because you’re going to handle it. How? By any means necessary.

Anna: Okay, I’m going to review the rest of these records, starting with trying to find who was inspecting the cable cars that morning. And then I’m gonna photograph the pertinent ones so that I can have a look at them when we’re back home.

Felicia: Mm. Sounds like it’s going to take some time. We’re going to need to make sure that nice man doesn’t come back here anytime soon. Maybe I can charm him into going on a coffee run to buy some time.

Anna: Okay, thank you.

Felicia: Mm-hmm.

Anna: Um, you know what? Just take it easy with the whole handkerchief thing.

Laura: Eileen. I’m just, uh, catching up with my friends, that’s all.

Eileen: A senior detective on the PCPD and the district attorney?

Dante: Whoa, whoa. Laura was my mother-in-law, and I still consider her like family.

Robert: Laura and I, we go back decades.

[ Ashby chuckles ]

Eileen: You all can say whatever you want, but the mayor’s official duties and calendar is a matter of public record. [ Sighs ] Frankly, this isn’t the first time I’ve caught you in a white lie like this.

Laura: Eileen! I-I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I mean, surely I’m entitled to a social life, right? To spend time with my friends?

Eileen: I still have some more questions.

Laura: Do I have to remind you that you work for me and not the other way around?

Eileen: I know that you are my boss, but the Government Oversight Committee has been breathing down this office’s neck ever since former Mayor Lomax resigned in disgrace. If there is any discrepancy on your public schedule, you need to correct it. Let your constituents know you’re meeting with other public officials, personal matter or not.

Laura: I can’t do that.

Eileen: Why not?

Sonny: That’s not what’s happening here, Michael. I’ve never chosen Nina over my family.

Michael: So then why didn’t you just tell us the truth about what happened in Nixon Falls? Or why — why — why didn’t you warn me that you weren’t going to testify against Nina, that you wanted to protect her from the consequences of what she did?

Sonny: Okay, I’m gonna give it to you straight, because you like to hear one side.

Michael: Okay.

Sonny: When I came home from Nixon Falls… I found my wife had married my best friend. I had to wrap my head around that. And then my best friend, Jason, dies, and just like you thought that you had lost me, I was trying to keep my family together and not make a-a bad situation worse. Yes, it didn’t work out the way I hoped. I wanted to tell you and the whole family the truth on my terms. Didn’t happen. You got to remember something. I’m your father. I’m always going to do what’s best for you, and that’s what I’m trying to do right now. Don’t you ever forget that.

Elizabeth: I really do appreciate you looking out for me and my family, but I can handle whatever’s going on with Jake.

Drew: I have no doubt about that. I’m just saying that, maybe while you’re taking care of the boys, I can look out for you.

Elizabeth: I just wish I had caught on to Jake’s behavior sooner. You know, I was so focused on figuring out if I was ready to date. I don’t — I don’t think I paid enough attention to my boys’ feelings.

Drew: No, Elizabeth, I know you. I know that you always put your boys first. I’m sure that you came to a decision that was very well-informed that the boys were ready.

Elizabeth: Mm, you might be giving me too much credit. Not possible. I’m as susceptible to tunnel vision as anyone else. I only see what I want. You’re a perfect example.

Drew: Me?

Elizabeth: I believed you were Jason, and I didn’t tell anyone.

Drew: That was ancient history, Elizabeth. You were in a bad emotional place at the time, a-and you came out the other side, which is why I know for sure that you’ve got the strength to help Jake through whatever’s going on with him. If that’s even what’s really happening.

Jake: You actually think I did all those things just because I didn’t like you dating my mom? I already told you I was okay with that. As long as you’re good to my mom, we have no problems.

Finn: I believe you, Jake. I really do. But, you know, the — the police, they, uh, told your mom that whoever put the painting in the living room, they didn’t break in, you know? They had access to the brownstone. And it’s not like anyone actually saw you in the library that morning. Unless there’s some other reason you don’t want to tell anyone what you were really doing that day.

Ava: I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about.

Nina: Are you kidding me? That charm offense that you were giving Valentin’s father? Ew! I mean, what was going on there? And do not tell me nothing, ’cause, clearly, you have something up your sleeve.

Ava: Mm. It’s just that the Cassadines are a complicated bunch, and it’s best for everybody if we all get along.

Nina: Is that your polite way of saying that I should just butt out?

Ava: Emphasis on polite. Just like I will butt out of your relationship with Sonny. But not before telling you that I know that Sonny is advocating for you with Willow and Michael because he’s in love with you.

Nina: Well, I’m not sure I want that on my conscience.

Michael: You want to do what’s best for me? Then respect the decision that Willow and I have made for our son.

Sonny: Why would you want to use your son to punish Nina?

Willow: This is not about punishing Nina. This is about what’s appropriate for Wiley. You’re an adult, Sonny. If Nina lies to you or twists the facts, you can handle it — or not. But Wiley is a child, and Nina’s already confused him enough.

Monica: Sonny. This is certainly a surprise.

Sonny: Hi, Monica. I was just — I was just leaving.

Monica: Well, since you’re here, uh, there’s something you should know. All three of you. I was doing some serious thinking on my way home about the ambiguity surrounding Jason’s death. This is not good, for his children to be living inside this limbo. I’m going to petition the court to have Jason legally declared dead.

Jake: I better get back to Dr. Massey. I don’t want to get you in trouble.

Finn: No, don’t worry about me. This is about you. Can someone actually corroborate what you were doing that morning?

Jake: Forget it.

Finn: No, I’m not going to forget it. Come on, Jake. Tell me the truth.

Jake: I can’t tell you!

Finn: Why? Why can’t you tell me the truth?

Jake: If my mom finds out what I did, she’ll never forgive me.

Elizabeth: Thanks for the pep talk.

Drew: My shoulder is at your service whenever you need it.

Elizabeth: Mm.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Drew: Showtime.

Eileen: I’m liable for having seen you. I can’t pretend that I didn’t.

Laura: I’m sorry, Eileen. I didn’t realize that I might be putting you in a difficult position. I can’t tell you everything, but, uh, you are my deputy, so I — I guess you do deserve to know something about what’s going on with me.

Robert: Uh, Luara? You sure?

Laura: It’s going to be all right. I have reason to believe that my ex-husband Luke spencer may have been murdered.

Eileen: What?!

Laura: I am working on this in my own time. This is my lunch hour. Now, I have just taken a big step in trusting you. I’m asking you to do the same for me. Can you give me the space I need to work on this situation? Because it needs to be kept separate from our office. Can you do that?

Eileen: Yes. Understood. We can touch base later.

Laura: Thank you, Eileen. Now, where were we?

Drew: What do you want, Victor?

Victor: Mr. Cain. I’m sorry, we seem to have got off on the wrong foot.

Drew: Yeah, two years in a cell, that’s a pretty bad start.

Victor: Yeah, well, Peter was responsible. Peter’s dead. But I’m calling you on a different matter entirely. But it’s important we meet in person.

Elizabeth (to Jake): The only way to fix that is by telling me the truth.

Portia (to Trina): I have some exiting news.

Victor (on phone): That would be a very foolish mistake.

Beth: Sort of. I came to talk to him about someone he’s been investigating.

Lani: And who would that be?

Beth: A man named tr coates. Do you know him?

Lani: Tr coates is my father.

[Suspenseful music]

Eli: Heroin. Isn’t that your drug of choice?

Tr: Is that one of the lies beth told you?

Eli: Oh, so then you never had a drug problem?

Tr: Like I told lani, I got help. I’ve been clean for years.

Eli: And I guess you don’t put your hands on women anymore either?

Tr: No, never.

Eli: Why don’t you start by showing me what’s in that bag… in your pocket?

Tr: Did you bring the works?

Frank: And as an introductory offer, they’re on the house.

Tr: I was with lani’s little sister, chanel, earlier. And she was kind enough to let me try one of the sweets from her bakery.

Lani: What made you come looking for eli?

Beth: I got a call from someone named billie reed. I was passing through chicago and figured I’d head down and tell detective grant what I know.

Lani: And how exactly do you know tr?

Beth: I used to be his girlfriend.

Lani: Used to be.

Beth: We broke up about six months ago. I told your husband all about our relationship.

Lani: Would you mind telling me? I have some questions.

Tr: I’m sorry, eli. I know you’re my daughter’s husband, and I’m not trying to get on your bad side.

Eli: Show me what’s in the bag.

Tr: I’d rather not.

Eli: And why is that?

Tr: Because I got the last brownie, and I don’t trust you not to snag it from me.

Eli: So you won’t even let me take a look, huh?

Tr: I’m not in the sharing mood, and I don’t know you that well.

Eli: Why don’t you and your brownie come on down to the station so we can get to know each other a little better?

Tr: No, thanks. Excuse me. Get your hands off me.

Eli: Is that what you told beth and paulina before you beat them?

Tr: [Scoffs]

Eli: Well, did I say something funny?

Tr: What the hell?

Eli: I tried to do this the easy way, but I’m kind of glad you gave your reason to put my hands on you.

Tr: You don’t wanna do this, man.

Eli: You don’t know what I want to do. ‘Cause what I want to do will make me lose my badge.

Tr: Is that how you operate here in salem? You just stop any brother who’s walking through the park with a bag?

Eli: Don’t play that brother card with me. All right? You know I don’t care what color you are. All I know is I’m keeping you away from my family.

Tr: You can’t keep me away from your wife and my grandchildren.

Eli: Watch me. You’re under arrest.

[Gunshot] Migraine attacks?

[Dramatic electronic music]

Beth: Why does this suddenly feel official?

Lani: I don’t wanna do anything that’s gonna make you feel uncomfortable. It’s just, I haven’t known tr very long, and my mother has said some very distressing things about him.

Beth: Your husband told me he abused her.

Lani: Yeah. Tr swears he’s changed and that he is no longer using drugs. Is that your experience? I swear, anything you say about my father will not leave this room.

Shawn: Oh, sorry. I thought this room was free.

Lani: It’s okay.

Shawn: I’ll leave you to it.

[Phone beeps] Oh, no.

Lani: What is it?

Shawn: There’s shots fired at the park. Detective, would you be available to back me up?

Lani: Yeah, of course. Will you please stay here until I get back? I really wanna finish this conversation.

Beth: Sure. I’ll be here.

Lani: Thank you.

Allie: Maybe I’m gay and I’m just in denial about it. I mean, that’s how it was with you, right?

Will: Well, even when I was closeted, I knew I was attracted to guys.

Allie: But you had a baby with gabi, so–

Will: That’s right. You know, I cared a lot about gabi. I still do. But if I’m being honest, I don’t think I was ever really sexually attracted to her.

Allie: Seriously?

Will: That surprises you?

Allie: I mean, it’s just, gabi is, like, super-hot.

Will: Are you attracted to gabi?

Allie: No. No. At least I don’t think I am.

Will: But have you been attracted to other women?

Allie: No. No. And I’ve had a lot of close female friends, but I’ve never felt that way about them.

Will: Except one.

Allie: Except one.

Will: Okay. Then maybe we should talk about chanel.

Johnny: [Groans]

Chanel: What the hell happened? You said it wasn’t your aunt belle.

Johnny: I need to explain something.

[Loud crash]

Marlena: Belle, fight.

Demon belle: Always fighting me, marlena. Aren’t you exhausted after all these years? Don’t you just want to give up and let go?

Marlena: Never.

Demon belle: Yet I can feel your life force slipping away. In a few moments, you’ll be dead. And with any luck, I’ll see you in hell.

[Laughing]

Tr: I warned you, but you wouldn’t listen. Now look what you did.

Frank: I got your text. You need more already? The bag I gave you had enough to kill a horse. What the–oh, god.

Tr: Look at me, frank. Look at me. Look at me.

Frank: Look, I don’t know what happened here, but I didn’t see nothing. It’s none of my business.

Tr: I just made it your business.

Frank: What is this? What are you doing?

Tr: As you can see, I’m in a little bit of a jam, and I need you to help me out.

[Dramatic music]

It’s my 5:52 woke-up-like-this migraine medicine.

Allie: When chanel first kissed me, I didn’t expect it. We were good friends, nothing more.

Will: Okay. You didn’t think about being with her?

Allie: No. No. Not her or any other woman. I mean, I’d only ever dated guys.

Will: Mm-hmm. But I mean, you liked it when she kissed you?

Allie: Yeah. Yeah. I really liked it.

Will: Okay. Well, what did you do after? Did you–did you freak out?

Allie: In the moment, I think I just tried to play it off, like there was no big deal, and I mean, maybe inside I was freaking out, but I just pushed those feelings aside. Like, I didn’t know what to do with them.

Will: Yeah. In my experience, pushing feelings aside isn’t usually, like, the best strategy.

Allie: Yeah, no, because they were always there. And after that, every time I thought about the kiss, I just would make excuses for myself. You know, like she caught me off guard or she kissed me, I didn’t kiss her.

Will: Mm-hmm. Did you talk to her about it?

Allie: Yeah. Yeah. I told her that I didn’t feel that way about her. And we moved on.

Will: Mm-hmm. Except you didn’t, not really.

Allie: Yeah. We kissed again on the 4th of july. And that time, I couldn’t pretend that I didn’t like it. I mean, actually, I think I might have been the one who initiated it.

Will: That was a big step.

Allie: Yeah. But then I pulled back again and I just threw myself into this relationship with tripp.

Will: What is it like when you–when you see her now? Is it weird?

Allie: No. No, it’s the opposite of weird. When I’m around her now, it’s like there’s this charge between us, this pull that makes me wanna kiss her and touch her all the time. It’s like I almost can’t breathe.

Demon belle: Oh, you had a good run as the heart and conscience of this town. But it’s time to say good night, marlena. Salem is mine.

Chanel: Jesus!

Demon belle: Guess again.

Chanel: No, dr. Evans.

Tr: Okay. No reason to panic. You did what you needed to do. You left the gun in frank’s hand, and he’s not talking. I’ll get dressed, and then I’ll find a place to burn those bloody clothes. And nobody will know I was there, especially not lani. Beth who?

Eli: Save it. She’s at the police station right now. She just finished telling me that everything that you’ve been telling lani and paulina is a load of crap. You’re still using. And you used beth as a punching bag last year.

Tr: She’s lying. I didn’t use her in my last movie, and she didn’t take it well. There’s always a woman that gets in the way. Guess I’m gonna have to do something about beth too. I’ll be damned if I let her or anybody else come between me and my daughter.

Marlena: Belle? Belle, can you hear me?

Chanel: What’s going on?

Marlena: It’s the devil. The devil is inside her. I don’t know how it happened. Why didn’t I stop it?

Chanel: She was trying to kill you, and she said she was gonna kill me next.

Marlena: It’s not belle. She’s not in control.

[Intriguing music]

Johnny: Grandma, I’m so glad you’re okay.

Marlena: Thanks to you. How did you know?

Johnny: Once chanel left belle and I alone in the study, her–her eyes, they just–they started glowing, and then she attacked me. I thought she was gonna kill me.

Marlena: Thank god you’re all right. It must have been terrifying.

Johnny: Never mind me. What are we gonna do to save her?

Will: These feelings that you have for chanel– they are not going away?

Allie: No. If anything, they’re getting stronger.

Will: Okay, so have you answered your own question?

Allie: I don’t know, because I’m definitely attracted to men. Like, what I had with tripp– that was real.

Will: Okay. Are you sure that you aren’t just trying to convince yourself or–

Allie: No, no, definitely not. I cared about him a lot. And when we were together physically, I mean, it was great. There was never a moment where I was faking it or pretending to like something that I didn’T. I really–I loved being with him until I screwed it all up.

Will: Well, you didn’t mean to hurt him.

Allie: Yeah, but I did. And I hate that. But the entire time that I was in that relationship with tripp, I was also battling my feelings for chanel. And then, one night, she was just there and so hurt and being so vulnerable. And I just wanted to comfort her, but more than anything, I just wanted to be with her. And we slept together.

Will: Was that your first time with a woman?

Allie: Yeah.

Will: And how was it physically and emotionally?

Allie: It was great in both ways. And ever since it happened, I can’t stop thinking about it.

Will: How did it compare to being with a guy?

Allie: Well, I mean, it was different obviously. I mean, for one thing, tripp and chanel are very different people. I guess it’s kind of like– it’s kind of like ice cream. Like, you can like two different flavors at once, right?

Will: Yeah. Sure.

Allie: Oh, god. Did I just compare sleeping with men and women to eating ice cream?

Will: Yeah. I believe that you did.

Allie: Do I sound ridiculous?

Will: Honestly, you sound bisexual. What? What are you thinking?

Allie: I… it’s just, I have a gay brother who I worship and adore, and, you know, I think I’m pretty woke. And I don’t know, I start talking about this, and I just feel really ignorant.

Will: About which part?

Allie: I don’t know. Is bisexuality a real thing? You know, is that not just something people call themselves so that they don’t have to decide or they can keep their options open?

Will: No, no, it is definitely not that. Bisexuality is very much a real thing. Yeah. I mean, in fact, bisexual people are a big part of the lgbtq community.

Allie: So you’ve researched this.

Will: Yeah, I mean, I’ve read about it, and we have bisexual friends we’ve talked to. I think being bisexual means you can fall in love with a man, woman, someone who’s trans or non-binary. It means you can be attracted to or love someone regardless of their gender identity.

Allie: Wow. So you know a lot about this. Well, thank you. It’s really helpful.

Will: I’m glad.

Allie: Okay. Well, I guess I’m bi.

Will: Yeah, I mean, if that’s what feels right to you.

Allie: It’s so weird, ’cause the feelings are one thing, but then finding a label that fits is just very confusing.

Will: Well, I mean, go easy on yourself. You don’t have to decide who you are today. I mean, when I was kind of trying to figure out who I was, I talked to a lot of people.

Allie: Mom and dad?

Will: Like, eventually. It took some time definitely. But, you know, they came around to try and help.

Allie: Yeah. You know, I love those two maniacs, but the last thing I need right now is them hovering on me.

Will: I don’t blame you. Yeah. Hovering aside, you know, they’re gonna love you and obviously be there to support you no matter what.

Allie: So if you didn’t talk to them at first, who did you talk to?

Will: Grandma marlena. Yeah. Honestly, she was a godsend. She helped me be proud of, like, who I was. You know, who I am.

Johnny: Is she all right?

Marlena: Yeah. She’s fine for right now. I just–I don’t know what to expect when she wakes up.

Chanel: We should call someone.

Johnny: Like who?

Chanel: I don’t know. The cops, a priest?

Johnny: Grandma, tell me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think we have time to wait. I mean, given that she tried to kill us both and threatened chanel’s life. I mean, we can’t take the chance of her coming to.

Marlena: I think you’re right. If we’re going to help belle and keep her from hurting anybody else, going to have to neutralize her.

Chanel: You’re talking about fighting the devil alone? Because I did not sign up for this.

Johnny: Chanel, wait.

Chanel: Let me go.

Johnny: Look, look, look, I know. I know that I hurt you and you have every–you have every right to hate me, but I know that you care about my sister. And belle is allie’s aunt, too. Please, she needs you. Will you stay and help us?

Beth: Hello?

Emt #1: Nice work, detective. Looks like you got his heart going again.

Tr: I heard. You ratted me out to detective eli grant, right?

Beth: How did you know I talked to him?

Tr: That’s not important. What is important is for me to know if you told anybody else at the police station what you told eli.

Beth: Well, I mean–

Tr: Sounds like you didn’T. Good girl.

Beth: I just met your daughter.

Tr: What?

Beth: Lani. She seems like a good person. I was just about to tell her what a poor excuse of a human being you are.

Tr: What’d you say to her?

Beth: Nothing. She got pulled away for some shooting in the park.

Tr: Really?

Beth: But when she or her husband returns, I’m going to make an official statement. I’m gonna tell them everything you did to me, all the abuse. And then we’ll see about filing charges.

Tr: I’m not so worried about those charges, beth. You need to listen to me. Before you say another word to the cops, you need to talk to me first.

Beth: Why would I do that?

Tr: I wanna make you an offer. I promise, you won’t be sorry.

Emt #1: Do you wanna ride in the ambulance?

Lani: Yes, yes, I’m his wife, and we cannot lose him.

Emt #1: We’ll get him to the hospital as fast as we can.

Shawn: Just hang in there, eli. I’ll be praying for you.

Allie: Can you believe I’m someone’s mother when I’m so all over the place?

Will: Hey, first of all, you are a great mom. Secondly, you have so many people who love you and support you. And if and when you decide to come out and whatever you decide you are, we’re all gonna be there for you.

Allie: Thank you. Well, I guess I have a lot of thinking to do, huh?

Will: Well, I mean, eh, give your brain a rest and listen to your– listen to your heart. Gay, straight, bi, trans, pan, you know what they say love is–

Allie: Love. Yeah, I got that part down.

Will: Well, I’m proud of you.

Allie: You are?

Will: Yeah. I mean, this is–this can be really scary and emotionally heavy stuff. And I know that, but you are amazing and strong, and I love you.

Allie: Love you too. All right, bye. Thank you. God. I wonder what’s taking chanel so long. Hope johnny’s not being a jerk to her again.

Chanel: You think this will hold her?

Johnny: As long as we make it tight enough.

Marlena: I know the devil’s inside of her, but I don’t want her hurt. That’s my little girl.

Johnny: Look, grandma. I don’t have to tell you the devil is strong. We can’t be too careful. It’s for aunt belle’s own safety.

Johnny: Me too. Is there anything else we can do? She’s not gonna be happy when she wakes up.

Marlena: Well, my medical bag is in the car. I could–I could sedate her until we know what’s gonna happen next.

Chanel: I should go. We’re supposed to be meeting with allie.

Johnny: Just glad I was here when you needed me.

Marlena: You’ll be okay alone with her for a few minutes?

Johnny: I know how hard this is for you, considering everything you’ve been through. We are going to help belle. We can drive the devil out. I know we can.

Marlena: Okay. I’ve given her a sedative. She should sleep for a couple hours.

Marlena: Well, I feel like I have, too, but there’s no time. I need to try to reach john.

Johnny: She’s tied up. She’s sedated. Like you said, she’s gonna be asleep for hours.

Chanel: Johnny and I– we didn’t get a chance to finish talking about the movie.

Allie: Why not?

Ridge: Yeah, no, I heard that. That’s why I like being in the guest house, because they don’t come over, unless somebody comes with them.

Taylor: Oh, see, you’re missing out. Mm, you are. There’s nothing better than having your grandbabies barreling in in the morning and jumping on the bed.

[ Taylor laughing ] This isn’t bad either.

[ Phone ringing ]

Thomas: Hey, uh, did dad have a meeting this morning?

Steffy: Uh, I don’t know. Why?

Thomas: Well, he’s not here yet.

Steffy: Oh, that’s because he’s still here. With mom.

Thomas: Wait, they’re sleeping in?

Steffy: Yeah, I heard him making a coffee this morning, I think he brought a cup up to her.

Thomas: Hah, that sounds, uh, cozy, maybe I should give up this whole house hunting thing, and come move in with you two.

[ Both laughing ]

Steffy: Well, if, if mom and dad do get closer, the guest house is available.

Thomas: You think they’re gonna stay together?

Steffy: With brooke out of the picture, what would keep them apart?

Deacon: Sheila.

Sheila: Why are you never happy to see me?

Deacon: You want the reasons chronologically, or alphabetically? Come on, I’m working here.

Sheila: Yeah, or are you daydreaming about your sweetie, brooke? Well, just cheer up, okay? Because I have a feeling she’s gonna come creeping back to you, very soon.

Deacon: You know, if you’re gonna keep showing up here, you might as well just get your old job back.

Sheila: Oh, you wanna spend more time together?

Deacon: No, that way you’d have a legitimate reason for being here.

Sheila: Yeah, this is what I get for being supportive?

Deacon: All right, let’s hear it. More news about brooke.

Sheila: Well, I think your dream of a future with her is more promising.

Deacon: Doubtful.

Sheila: When did you become such a pessimist? I mean, if– if you need somebody to, uh, boost your confidence, or rev that engine, I am more than happy to help. But once you’ve been with me, brooke is going to be a letdown.

Deacon: You know, I think that’s a personal best. Three unsolicited sexual advances in the first five minutes, that’s amazing. I mean, did I miss something here? Is brooke no longer married to ridge?

[ Knocking on door ]

Thomas: Hey.

Hope: Is your dad around?

Thomas: No, what’s up?

Hope: Look, I– I don’t want all of this to become an issue for us. It’s just–

Thomas: This is about your mom.

Hope: Yes. She’s in a really bad place right now, and the things that she’s saying is– she can’t forgive herself, and she’s pushing ridge away and it’s almost like she would rather give up the man she loves than risk disappointing him again. And I just– I need ridge to understand that that night would have never happened if they weren’t drinking.

Taylor: Did you get any sleep last night?

Ridge: You mean did I stay up and think about the conversation that we had?

Taylor: Or the conversation you had with brooke.

Ridge: Still processing it.

Taylor: I’m sure.

Ridge: Just so unexpected. She’s setting me free. One terrible night and everything we had is… gone. I’m steve, I lost 138 pounds in nine months on golo

Deacon: You think this is great, don’t ya? That– that brooke somehow deserves what’s happening to her?

Sheila: You know what, you’re asking the wrong questions. What you should be asking is, “what happens next, and how can I be a part of it?”

Deacon: See, that’s how you think, not me. Not anymore.

Sheila: Oh, what, you’re going to leave brooke all alone? You’re gonna stand back and give her space? When has brooke ever shown anybody any– any deference? Any courtesy? No, she has always injected herself into everybody else’s lives. She is the complete opposite of taylor. Taylor stayed away, she didn’t want to interfere. No, she is humble, she is kind, she is thoughtful.

Deacon: Write her a fan letter already, jeez.

Sheila: She knew how important it would be for me to spend time with finn and hayes. And that– that’s why I, I know what getting back to ridge means to her.

Deacon: Because you guys are bffs now?

Sheila: Look, if taylor’s happy, I’m happy. If her family is– is secure and thriving, that means I might be able to spend more time with my son and my grandson. Heck, she might even convince steffy to– to give me a chance.

Ridge: No, so– so don’t watch that one because it’s a complete waste of time.

Steffy: Hi.

Ridge: Hey. You look ready. What’s going on?

Steffy: Looks like you two had a good morning.

Ridge: It’s all right.

Steffy: I– I’m gonna be heading out. So don’t worry, you guys can have your privacy.

Taylor: Oh, stop. It’s so quiet. Where are the kids?

Steffy: Out with amelia. So the house will be all… to yourself.

Ridge: What’s– I’m going to the office myself, in a few minutes.

Steffy: Hey, take your time, no rush. No rush.

Taylor: Honey, it’s not what you think, your father brought me coffee this morning.

Steffy: Mm hm.

Ridge: Yeah, I’m staying in the guest house because of your generous…

Steffy: You don’t have to explain. I– I’m not here to pry. No judgement, no judgement.

Taylor: Aw, thank you. No, I– maybe a little.

Steffy: But I can’t pretend what I’m– look at you two! Like, there’s this energy. I mean, come on, the smiles on your faces, it’s beautiful, and I love to see it.

Hope: I want to see ridge. Do you know where he is right now? Is he over at your sister’s? Because I’ll go over there if I have to.

Thomas: That’s not a good idea.

Hope: Why? What else do you know?

Thomas: My dad is happy, where he is. Him and my mom are reconnecting. He’s not thinking about brooke. And she shouldn’t be thinking about him.

Hope: Of course she is thinking about him. That’s her husband. And my mom still loves ridge. And I know he still loves her too.

Thomas: They’re not together anymore, hope. My dad is happy where he is. He’s finally reconnecting with my mom, it’s what he wants, it’s what we all want. Look, they, they’ve been apart for a very long time. And they finally have a chance to be together. I’m going to support them in that. In any way that I can. When tired, achy feet make your whole body want to stop,

Steffy: I’m not making any assumptions, even though you two are glowing.

Ridge: Uh, your mother’s glowing. I don’t glow.

Steffy: Hm.

Taylor: Oh, it’s just nice waking up where you belong, surrounded by people you love.

Steffy: And who love you.

Ridge: And here I thought it was the coffee.

Taylor: Or the coffee delivery man.

Steffy: Okay. That is my cue to go.

Taylor: No, don’t be silly. I’m just happy. Having your father here has been wonderful.

Steffy: It’s been wonderful for all of us. And dad, I don’t want you to feel like you’re under a microscope, but I can’t hide being excited. I mean, I am seeing the two of you together. It’s even better than I remember. Maybe I appreciate it more now. Seeing the way you look at each other, the love that you have and the way it’s endured in spite of everything, and it fills me with so much hope for you and our family. Hey, this is your chance to have lasting love. And I know that’s what you want, especially after all of betrayal and disappointment. Brooke has put you through a lot, but that is all behind us now. And I know it hasn’t been painless, but honestly, I’m glad about the way it’s all working out.

Deacon: So things are looking up for you and taylor, so who the hell cares what it does to brooke’s life?

Sheila: Well, then why don’t you do something? Go to her, comfort her. I seem to remember that she has a weakness for that.

Deacon: Wow, you can actually manage to make doing something nice feel dirty.

Sheila: I’m just saying, why don’t you go and show her some support?

Deacon: Sheila, this whole thing has turned her life upside down. You know, one minute, everything’s fine. The next minute she’s out of control. She’s downing shots of vodka and passing out.

Sheila: Mm, that karma’s a bitch.

Deacon: It’s funny ’cause I thought you said that karma was a good thing.

Sheila: I guess it depends on what you deserve.

Deacon: Oh, okay, now I get it, because she came between you and your son. You know who the hell cares if her marriage is in flames?

Sheila: I don’t see you shedding any, any tears right now, deacon.

Deacon: Hey, look, you know, I– I wouldn’t care if brooke is free of forrester, but I also wouldn’t bet money on it. Look, when it comes to brooke, ridge is a boomerang. You have to share this little advice with your gal pal, taylor. No one should underestimate the commitment between ridge and brooke.

Thomas: I’m not putting you off, hope. I just, I don’t know what else to tell you.

Hope: Okay, so that’s why I should speak directly to ridge.

Thomas: Or you could let our parents handle this on their own.

Hope: I know my mom is perfectly capable of handling her own battles. It’s just that she’s lost in her own sorrow right now, and she can’t really see clearly, I mean, she’s confused.

Thomas: Yeah, but my dad isn’T. He is happier than I’ve seen him in a long time being with our family, and my mom is ecstatic. Look, I’m not saying this to hurt you or be a jerk, I just– my dad still cares about brooke. He always will, and she’s always going to care about him. But if she’s saying that it’s over, and he’s accepted that, why push him to rethink it?

Hope: Because this is what they do. They’ve split up before, and it’s always been temporary.

Thomas: Mm, and no offense, I am very much hoping this time will be different.

Hope: Why, because of my dad? Because of my mom’s relapse? I mean– you really think it’s fair that her one mistake just jeopardizes the entire life that they’ve built together?

Thomas: No, it’s not that, it’s, it’s because my mom is home. And she and my dad have a chance to make it work. I have a meeting I have to get to.

[ Hope sighing ]

Ridge: Hope.

Hope: Ridge.

Ridge: Hi.

Hope: Uh, thomas wasn’t sure if you would be able to make it in today. Um, look, he told me about you and taylor, and I get that my mom has set you free. But she’s really hurting right now, ridge, and she thinks that by punishing herself, by losing you, is going to fix all this and you know, that is not true. Please don’t let her mistake cost you all those years of love that the two of you shared together. Just. Give her another chance. Please don’t give up on my mom.

Sheila: Ridge moved out. He’s living with taylor.

Deacon: Yeah, that doesn’t mean that he’s moved on from brooke.

Sheila: That’s exactly what it means.

Deacon: I think you need a history lesson.

Sheila: Brooke is free. That bond that was holding her to ridge has been severed. No, their destiny has come to a screeching halt. You can’t revel in that? What, you’re still doing the good guy act?

Deacon: Not an act.

Sheila: Brooke is upset right now. You can’t blame yourself for that. You had nothing to do with her marriage imploding.

Deacon: If it wasn’t me, then what happened? I mean, she can’t explain it. You think you can?

Sheila: Yeah, I sure as hell can. Ridge may have left because of you, but he’s not coming back because of taylor. That’s who he really wants to be with, and can you blame him? I–I know what brooke has done. We all know what she’s done. Ridge sees it too, and he can’t trust her.

Deacon: Stop, just stop, all right. You’re not going to trash brooke like this. It was one crazy night. Yes, things got out of hand. But that doesn’t sum up who she is. It doesn’t define her character.

Bartender: Deacon. I’ve got a delivery, I need your help in the alley.

Deacon: I’m on it, I’m on it.

Bartender: Come on.

[ Phone ringing ]

Thomas: Hello.

Sheila: Oh, thank god. I thought I was going to have to leave you a message.

Thomas: Don’t call me.

Sheila: Well, you assure me I have nothing to worry about, and I won’T. Say it, thomas, you’re not going to tell anyone the reason why brooke drank that night. You want to keep your parents happy. Then you need to keep our secret. Are we good?

Ridge: Your mother has been very open with me. We discussed this.

Hope: She is pushing you toward taylor because she can’t forgive herself for what she did.

Ridge: This is what she wants.

Hope: The real question is, is this what you want, or do you want to give my mom another chance? Because if there’s even this possib–

Ridge: She let me go. She set me free.

Hope: She’s doing that because she thinks that is what she deserves. She’s trying to be noble and have everyone think that she’s going to be okay.

Ridge: She is going to be okay. She’s gotta keep going to those meetings, stay away from bad people and just focus on her recovery.

Hope: That’s all she can focus on, is that one question, “why did I drink, why did I drink?” She asked that over and over and over again, because what happened that night was not like her, ridge, the same way that this– what you’re doing is not like you. I mean, you moved out, you’re reconnecting with taylor while you are still married to my mom. But two wrongs don’t make a right.

Steffy: Don’t do that, hope. Don’t judge my father for wanting to be happy–

Ridge: She’s just concerned about her mom.

Steffy: She’s making it sound like you’re cheating on brooke.

Hope: Um he’s still married to her–

Steffy: And I’m his daughter, we’re his family, he’s staying at my house and he’s with his grandchildren.

Hope: And taylor.

Steffy: Yes. But my mother tried to help you. She tried to reach out to brooke to get her to tell the truth, because that’s the kind of woman she is. Unlike your mom–

They’re reconnecting. He’s finally remembering what it’s like to be with someone who he can rely on and trust. Dad, please don’t let her back in. Come home to us. Your family, the forresters. Not hope, not brooke, not the logans.

Nate and Ashland were at Society. Nate had looked at Ashland’s scans, and there was no sign of cancer. He felt obligated to tell the Newmans. Ashland said Nate wasn’t a radiologist. Nate added that there was no record of Ashland getting chemotherapy in Genoa City. In a dark tone, Ashland warned Nate to think long and hard before he did anything rash. Nate asked if that was a threat. Ashland wasn’t threatening Nate; he just thought Nate should think through the ramifications. Ashland asked if Nate wanted to risk his friendship with Victoria by hurting her this way. Nate said he wasn’t going to be the one hurting her. Ashland was saddened that Nate was buying into the smear campaign. Nate said this wasn’t a smear campaign, it was worse. He was disgusted by what Ashland did, and he couldn’t believe he’d once called Ashland a friend. Ashland said they were still friends. Nate thought that Ashland had been conning him the whole time. Ashland denied it. Ashland said he’d never offer a job to someone he didn’t believe in – the business meant too much to him to do that.

Nate accused Ashland of faking cancer so he could take the Newmans’ company. Ashland maintained that he was being framed. Nate didn’t buy it. Ashland said Victoria loved him, and she wouldn’t believe this lie coming from Victor, or Nate. Nate said that Ashland couldn’t talk his way out of this with the Newmans. “You were never sick, and Victor’s not the one to be manipulated,” Nate said. Ashland said when he proved his innocence, Nate would wish he’d never doubted him. Ashland started to leave. Nate got up and stood face to face with Ashland. He said it was time for Ashland to come clean. “If you don’t tell them, I will,” Nate said.

Ashland left. Later, Elena arrived, and Nate told her everything. She was appalled Ashland faked cancer. Nate was questioning his judgment since he’d thought Ashland was a friend. She wished he’d come to her sooner, so he didn’t have to deal with this alone. He didn’t believe it at first, that’s why he looked into Ashland’s medical records. Elena thought Ashland was pure evil. Nate said Ashland made a few veiled threats to him. Nate kept going over this whole thing and trying to figure out what happened. He wished he could believe Ashland was set up. Elena said it was hard to believe Ashland was so warm and generous to them, while tricking everyone. Nate said it was all an act. “Who better to be his allies than two doctors. If he could fool us, he could fool anyone,” Nate said. Elena said Ashland took a risk because Nate had access to his files. She knew it must’ve been difficult for Nate to cross that line. Nate felt he had no choice. He said he owed it to Victoria and the Newmans to tell them the truth.

Nate asked why he didn’t see this coming. All the time he spent with Ashland, and he should’ve realized something was off. He realized now that he was actually coaching Ashland into accurately portraying cancer. He wondered why he took Ashland at his word. Elena said Nate was only Ashland’s friend, not his doctor – so he had no reason to question Ashland’s diagnosis or double check the test results. Nate said he was too trusting – a billionaire who barely knew him asked him to be his best man and offered him a job. Nate felt he should’ve noticed something was off. Elena said she wouldn’t let Nate beat himself up. She wouldn’t tell him what to do, but if it were her, she’d take everything she knew to Victoria. That was his initial plan, but he hated to be the bearer of the news that would crush Victoria. Nate was also worried about what Ashland would do, given that he was vicious enough to fake cancer.

At Newman Media, Victor couldn’t believe Adam was blaming Victoria for this mess. Adam said Victoria let this shark in, and she continued to defend him, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Victor said that Ashland deceived all of them, and they’d all been fooled by love at one time or another. Victor reminded Adam that he’d been involved with a woman who accused him of attempted murder. Adam said the difference was he walked away from Chelsea when he found out what she did, and she was never a threat to the family business. Victor said they all had compassion for Adam during that ordeal, including Victoria. Victor wanted Adam to extend his sister the same courtesy. Adam thought Victoria deserved better than Ashland, but since she couldn’t see it, they might all suffer for her blind loyalty. Sally was listening outside the door, and she left. Victor said they all had things they could accuse each other of. He told Adam to stop pointing fingers at Victoria.

Adam gave up and said they could debate Victoria’s culpability in this mess another time. He said they needed a plan B to oust Ashland. Victor noted that he’d already told Adam he sent Nick to talk to Victoria. Adam didn’t have faith in that plan, since Victoria didn’t listen the last time Nick raised concerns about Ashland. Adam had a plan. Victor was interested. Adam thought they should leak the story to the press that Ashland faked his illness to take over Newman Locke. Adam said it was a win win – Victoria wouldn’t blame any of the Newmans for pushing Ashland out of the company or her life, and the negative press would drive Ashland away.

Victor didn’t like Adam’s idea, because he was worried about what the negative press would do to Victoria’s self esteem. Adam countered that Victoria was barely fazed by the bad press Ashland already received. Victor said Victoria wasn’t mentioned in those articles. Adam thought Victor was underestimating Victoria. Victor asked if Adam forgot the hit Victoria took to her self confidence after her experience with JT. Victor said it took her a long time for Victoria to trust her judgment again, and that was why he’d tried to keep this thing with Ashland away from her. Adam said it was too late to keep this from Victoria, and she didn’t care what Ashland had done. Victor said Victoria was in denial, and she would come to accept the truth. Adam suggested there was a way for Victoria to come out unscathed. Victor didn’t think that was possible. Victor said once the story was out, reporters would do their own investigation, and the company and the family would be embarrassed when people found out Ashland was able to deceive them. Most importantly, Victor said, Victoria would never forgive the family if she found out they were responsible for leaking the story. “I guess murder is out of the question,” Adam said. “Funny,” Victor dryly replied. Adam said it was a bad joke. Victor hoped Nick could get through to Victoria.

Victoria was near tears as she talked to Nick in her office. She said she didn’t know what to believe anymore. Nick asked if something came to light that made her change her mind. Victoria was wary of confiding in Nick, because she’d made the mistake of doing that before, and he betrayed her. He said he was just here to listen. She asked why she’d give him more ammunition to criticize her husband. He promised he was just here to love and support her. She said he’d outwardly and repeatedly said he hated her husband. He could see she was struggling. He could relate to wanting to ignore all the evidence that the person you loved had betrayed you. He understood that she might have to deal with this on her own. He said she could tell him as little or as much as she wanted. He was just here to listen.

Victoria was sure Victor told Nick about the theory that Ashland made up a massive lie to gain control of Newman Locke. Nick saw the video of the doctor in Peru. He asked what Victoria made of it. She said Ashland told her it was a disgruntled employee. Nick stated that he wanted to hear what Victoria thought, not what Ashland said. Victoria hadn’t concluded much. If Victor was right, Ashland didn’t love her, and she didn’t want to entertain that. She said Ashland claimed he was being slandered, but he’d had yet to indicate he was close to uncovering who was behind it. She said he just kept making this outlandish suggestion that Victor was responsible. Victoria thought it seemed like a juvenile counter-punch for Ashland to blame Victor.

Earlier today, Victor showed Victoria physical proof of money being paid to the Peruvian doctors from one of Ashland’s small divisions. Victoria sensed that Nick already knew about this. Nick said it didn’t matter what he knew or what he thought. He told her that it only mattered what she thought. She hated to admit it, but Michael’s latest evidence gave her pause. It was damning and it was extremely hard to explain it away. She was scared. Nick tensed up and asked if Ashland threatened Victoria. Victoria said Ashland had been gentle and loving, and that was why she was scared to let herself believe he could do this to her. Nick understood that, but he said that Victoria could damage herself if she buried this – it could give her a deep rooted doubt that could eat away at her. “Maybe I’m protecting myself, because if this is true…,” Victoria said. Nick encouraged Victoria to finish her thought. “Ugh, you Newmans are relentless,” Ashland said, as he appeared in the open doorway.

Ashland knew he should’ve expected Nick would be the next person to jump on the bandwagon to turn Victoria against him. Nick said the Newmans were relentless when it came to protecting their own. Nick wasn’t here because of Ashland – he was here because he loved Victoria and wouldn’t allow anyone to hurt her. He said to call if she needed him, then he left. Ashland thought Nick’s glare and demeanor cast doubt on his claim that he was there to give friendly support to his sister. Victoria looked dejected, and Ashland asked if she was okay. She silently hugged him. Nick was in the hallway, and he saw the embrace. Victor called Nick. Nick quietly brought Victor up to speed on his talk with Victoria. Nick was afraid that Ashland’s interruption had erased all the progress Nick had made getting Victoria to consider the truth. Nick ended the call.

Back at Newman Media, Adam commented on the audacity of Ashland to blame Victor for framing him. Victor said Ashland would stop at nothing – he even convinced Victoria to make him co-CEO. Adam was taken aback, and he asked when that happened. Victor said the papers were signed yesterday. Adam asked why he wasn’t informed. Victor had a lot of things to deal with. Adam said that they were all dealing with this, as a family, and as the CEO of Newman Media, he should’ve been the first to know, not Nick. Victor had to tell Nick to convince him to go talk to Victoria. Adam didn’t understand why Victor was so calm. Victor said it’d all blow over, and the Newmans would come out ahead. Adam thought Victor’s confidence was rather curious. Adam asked a question that had been gnawing at him – “Are the accusations against Ashland legitimate?” Victor asked why Adam suddenly doubted this. Adam just thought Ashland’s claim that Victor wanted to get control of Newman Locke had weight. Nate showed up and said he had the smoking gun Victor was looking for. Adam and Victor stood up.

At Crimson Lights on the patio, Chelsea told Lauren and Chloe that the business trip was a success. She made some valuable connections in NY, which made her optimistic that she and Chloe might be able to get their line out earlier than anticipated. Chloe asked if Lauren would be willing to put her marketing resources behind them. Lauren admitted she didn’t hear a word of the discussion. Chloe asked if there was word about Michael. Lauren had promised Kevin she wouldn’t file a missing person’s report until tomorrow, but she wasn’t sure she could wait. She was convinced something was wrong.

Lauren returned after making a call. She said Kevin was going to file a missing person’s report, and Rey was going to reach out to law enforcement in Peru. Chloe and Chelsea offered words of support. Lauren wished she’d listened to her first instinct to talk Michael out of working for Victor. Chelsea didn’t think Lauren should blame herself, because she never could’ve predicted this. Lauren said she actually did predict that working for Victor would be trouble. She felt like she should go to Peru. Chloe didn’t think that was a good idea, since Lauren had no idea where to go or where to look. Lauren couldn’t bear just sitting here pretending everything was okay and talking about work. Chloe said they could talk about how resourceful and clever Michael was. Chloe and Chelsea knew from experience how great Michael was at successfully arguing any case. Lauren agreed that he had a silver tongue. Chloe said Kevin always complain that he’d never win an argument with his brother. Lauren laughed and said it was one of Michael’s worst qualities – he never admitted he was wrong. She shared a story about how Michael ate the last piece of cake, then launched a counter argument so effective that he had her half convinced that she ate it.

Sally went to Crimson Lights and ordered a big cup of strong coffee. Sharon asked how the job was going. Sally griped about getting left out of closed door meetings, even though she was COO. Sally wanted to buy Sharon a coffee and get her thoughts on Adam. Sharon was curious where this was going. Sally just wanted to be the best most supportive COO Adam could hope for. She wanted Sharon’s thoughts on how Adam’s mind worked. Sharon surmised that Sally needed help navigating the Newman dynamics. Sally sensed Sharon knew Adam better than most, and she knew Sharon had history with the Newmans. Sharon had conditions – she told Sally not to expect her to praise or badmouth Adam, and she wasn’t going to reveal anything about her personal relationship with him.

Sally wasn’t trying to dig into Adam’s past. She just wanted to find more ways to support him. She really liked him, and she thought he was special. Too few people seemed to see it, but Sally thought Sharon did. Sharon agreed that she was one of the few people who’d seen Adam’s good side. She’d defended him, sometimes to her detriment. Supporting Adam wasn’t always the popular thing to do, Sharon stated. Sally didn’t care about that – she wasn’t all that popular around here either. Sally was just talking about her working relationship with Adam. Sharon inferred that Sally and Adam had a personal relationship too. Sally said it wasn’t relevant. Sharon thought that this all made things more difficult for Sally. Sally said it didn’t. She understood people who were misunderstood, and she thought she could be an effective business partner for Adam. Sharon thought Adam must agree, since, on paper, Sally wasn’t the obvious choice for COO. Sally wasn’t having problems with the workload, but Victor had her stumped. Sharon said Victor had a lot of sway over the Newmans, but she doubted Sally would crack that code. Sally was just concerned Adam would keep focusing on pleasing his father instead of doing what was best for himself.

Sharon said that trying to solve the Newmans’ daddy issues was a fool’s errand. Many tried, and there was a long list of casualties. Sally was up for the challenge. She thought she could help Adam if she could learn the dynamics. On some level, Sharon admired Sally’s honesty and commitment to her boss. Sharon saw that Adam seemed like he was in a good place – maybe Sally had a part in that, or maybe Adam finally made peace with his father. Sally said Victor loved to keep Adam guessing. Sharon said there were two things Adam needed more than anything – his father’s love and a feeling of harmony with his father. Sally was worried Adam would never be able to find that harmony, because he didn’t see himself as Victor’s equal – he was still the son trying to impress his father. Sharon said that had been Adam’s Achilles heel from the day he came to Genoa City. Sally was trying to break him of that. Nick walked in. Sharon ended the conversation and wished Sally luck. Sally said thanks for the talk and went to the patio. Nick asked what that was about.

Sharon said Sally wanted information on the Adam/Victor dynamic. “If you figure that out, let me know too,” Nick replied. Sharon asked how things were going with Victoria. Nick thought Victoria had been close to accepting the truth about Ashland, but she couldn’t quite get there. He said Ashland had his hooks into Victoria. Sharon said if the evidence was as strong as Nick claimed, it would just be a matter of time. Sharon thought Nick had decided not to get involved. Nick realized he had to. He said if Victoria didn’t open her eyes, the family would have to come up with a way to get Ashland out of her life for good.

Sally overheard the discussion about Michael. She approached and said she knew Victor had people actively searching for Michael in Peru. Chelsea didn’t know becoming COO put Sally in the loop on non-Newman Media business. Sally said she was getting to know Victor pretty well, and he was good at harnessing his resources on things like this. Lauren thanked Sally for the information, but she said she didn’t find it reassuring. Sally thought Lauren would want to hear this. Lauren was glad Sally told her, because she now knew Victor wasn’t being truthful when he told her that Michael was fine. Now Lauren was even more worried, because she knew Victor was concerned. Lauren left to pass this news to Kevin. Sally was sorry – she was just trying to help, and she thought Lauren should know about her husband. Chelsea snapped that they’d just calmed Lauren down before Sally got involved. Chloe was sure Sally didn’t mean any harm. Chloe also agreed that Lauren needed to know Victor was looking for Michael. Sally hoped she and Chloe could be friends again, and she was sorry she and Chelsea got off on the wrong foot, but she hoped they could call a truce, now that they weren’t working together. Chelsea doubted they’d ever be best friends, but she supposed she could let bygones be bygones.

Victor issues a telephone invitation for an in-person meeting with Drew at Pier 54. Drew insists that if they meet, he will be the one to set the location and then instructs Victor to meet him at the footbridge over the canyon. Victor arrives at the footbridge and receives a visit from Eileen who confirms to him that Laura believes that Luke was murdered and that she further believes that Victor was responsible for his untimely demise.

Portia tells Trina that she and Curtis plan to buy a home together. Trina informs Portia about the sex tape and tells her that Esme is attempting to place the blame on her. Portia loses it and says she has had it with Esme. Portia tells Trina that she needs to get as far away from Spencer and Esme as possible.

Back in Austria, the gunman in the hallway enters the file room behind Anna and fires his gun. She narrowly evades being shot and Felicia comes to her aid. Anna and Felicia then hold the man at gunpoint. They attempt to interrogate him but he bites a cyanide tablet and dies. Anna and Felicia agree that if this man was willing to die for his involvement in this operation rather than face Victor’s wrath, then it is clear that whatever Victor is involved in is a lot bigger than just a personal vendetta against Luke.

Finn tells Jake that there is nothing Jake could ever do that Elizabeth would be unable to forgive. Jake confesses to Finn and Elizabeth that he has secretly been speaking with his grandparents online. Elizabeth appears to fume and she demands to know what her parents wanted and why Jake kept the entire matter a secret. Jake asks her if she would rather he simply hated his grandparents. Elizabeth says that is not what she wants and asks him if they can discuss the matter at another time. Jake leaves and goes to his therapist’s appointment, leaving Elizabeth to ponder the situation of her stalker. She is curious, if Jake hasn’t been carrying out the mysterious acts that keep occurring, then who has?

Spencer reflects on his previous visit from Cameron at Spring Ridge. Esme also arrives for a visit and Spencer accuses her of releasing the sex tape of Josslyn and Cameron. Esme plays innocent and Spencer seemingly falls for her lies. Esme blames the entire thing on Trina. Spencer asks Esme if she really thinks that Trina could be capable of making the tape? Esme cracks. She shows him her wrist and tells him that she was attacked by Carly and saved by Nikolas. Spencer feigns concern but it becomes clear he still questions Esme’s innocence concerning the sex tape as well as her intentions.

Carly confronts Cameron about the sex tape. She tells him that she doesn’t blame him for the video and encourages Cameron and Josslyn to support each other during this time. Later at General Hospital, Carly runs into Drew and she fills him in on the situation with Josslyn and Cameron. He tells her he wishes there was more he could do. Carly confesses to Drew that she and Sonny have signed their divorce papers. Drew tells Carly that he is always there for her. She thanks him and tells him that she will always be there for him as well. Drew leaves General Hospital to meet with Victor.

Josslyn meets Adam at Charlie’s to study for their upcoming midterm. Adam makes an inappropriate comment about how he finds himself drawn to the field of chemistry after having seen the video of Cameron and Joss. Joss tells Adam to get out and Adam tells her she is really uptight for a girl with a sex tape. Cameron enters Charlie’s as Adam exits and asks if Joss is OK. She grabs him and hugs him. Joss explains to Cameron what happened with Adam and asks Cameron if he thinks she should just transfer to another college. He refuses to let her bow to the pressure they are experiencing due to Esme’s betrayal. They both resolve that they will get through the current situation together.

Drew arrives for his meeting with Victor. Victor clutches the tarot card in his coat pocket believing that it holds the key to activating Drew’s cognitive conditioning.

At the hospital, Lani calls Valerie and informs her that Eli has just been taken in for surgery. Lani cries that she’s so sorry. Abe arrives and hugs Lani.

TR slips a Do Not Disturb sign onto his door as Beth enters. TR tells her to relax as he’s not going to bite. Beth says she can tell that he’s been using and recalls how he beat her when he was high. Beth decides coming here was a mistake but TR warns that walking away from him would be a bigger mistake.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Maggie calls Jake and leaves a message, saying she just got back from Chicago, hoping he can explain why there was a surprise DiMera shareholder meeting and how instead of Victor joining the board like they discussed, Johnny DiMera was installed in his place. Maggie tells Jake to call her and hangs up. Xander then enters and greets Maggie. Xander says he’s here because he wanted to tell her in person that Sarah is back in town. Maggie says she’s glad to hear that but surprised because of when she was there a few weeks ago, she was terribly hurtful and made it clear that she didn’t want anything to do with any of them. Xander reveals that it wasn’t Sarah but Ava Vitali in a Sarah mask and that the woman who dumped him on his wedding day also wasn’t Sarah, but Kristen DiMera, which shocks Maggie. Xander explains that Sarah became a threat to Kristen so she kidnapped her and made it look like she left on her own so no one would look for her. Maggie asks where Sarah has been all this time. Xander informs her that she’s been held captive on an island until Steve, Kayla, and Abigail were able to rescue her. Maggie can’t believe it. Xander confirms it’s all true. Maggie excitedly hugs Xander, relieved that Sarah is safe. Maggie then stops and points out that if this is true, Sarah never stopped loving him. Xander says maybe but right now, she only has eyes for Tony DiMera which Maggie questions.

At the DiMera Mansion, Anna complains to Tony that she didn’t sleep at all because she was in the guest bedroom, wondering why her husband was not beside her. Tony argues that she knows why they had to sleep in separate bedrooms because Sarah would pitch a fit and try to throw her out on the street. Anna argues that Tony doesn’t have to let Sarah do anything since this is their house but he is indulging Sarah’s delusion that she is Renee DuMonde and let her call the shots. Anna mocks Sarah’s fantasy that they are madly in love. Tony insists he’s not enjoying this but Kayla said this is the right course of action. Anna argues that Sarah is out of her mind, so they need Marlena to talk some sense in to her. Sarah walks in and remarks that Marlena is upstairs but she’s dealing with a woman tied to the bed.

Gwen walks through the town square and runs in to Abigail. Abigail asks if she’s going to welcome her back.

Beth questions if TR is threatening her. TR says he has an offer that she can’t refuse. TR declares that he will make her a star.

Lani tells Abe that she’s so glad to see him. Abe asks about Eli. Lani says they just took him in to surgery. Kayla comes over and assures that Eli is in the very best hands. Kayla says she’ll let Lani know as soon as she has an update. Kayla encourages them to keep praying for him.

Anna questions Sarah saying that Marlena had someone tied up upstairs. Tony suggests Sarah could be hallucinating. Sarah complains about Anna still being here and says it won’t be her home for long. Sarah notes that her attorney told her that she’d have to show proof that she is the rightful owner of the home before she can kick Anna out, but says obviously she’s a DiMera. Sarah brings up her drivers license and passport missing, so she will have her long lost brother Chad attest to her identity. Sarah then presents Tony with a contract to retain her lawyer’s services so they can initiate his divorce from Anna, so all he has to do is sign.

Maggie questions Sarah now thinking she is Renee DuMonde after reading her diary. Xander blames the drug that Kristen injected her with and says that Sarah is completely delusional. Xander tells Maggie about Sarah’s plan to have Tony and Anna divorce and to get Anna kicked out of the mansion. Xander adds that Tony has been advised to be worried about Sarah’s mental state. Maggie brings up the treatment that helped Abigail. Xander says that’s where Maggie comes in since she’s next of kin. Xander hands Maggie a paper to sign to get Sarah the help she needs. Maggie questions it being against her will. Xander explains that it’s the only way. Maggie sits down with the paper. Xander knows it’s a lot to take in but says if they want Sarah back, this is the only way. Maggie declares that she will not sign it.

Gwen tells Abigail that they were all worried about her and she’s very happy that she was rescued. Abigail questions that since Gwen hates her guts. Abigail brings up Chad trying to get the accomplice’s name from Ava but she wonders what possible reason Ava could have for wanting her gone when she barely knows her, Sarah, or Kristen, so she didn’t want her gone but Gwen has all kinds of reasons to want Sarah out of the picture and she was desperate to stop her from finding Sarah. Abigail declares that it’s glaringly obvious to her that it was Gwen that bashed her over the head.

Abe suggests Lani go home and take a shower, but Lani refuses to go anywhere until she knows that Eli is okay. Abe asks her what happened as they sit together. Lani explains that she was at the police station when Shawn came in and said there had been a shooting in the park and asked her to back him up. Lani adds that when they got there, Eli was on the ground with a bullet in his head and there was a drug dealer slumped over on the bench with Eli’s gun in his hand. Lani mentions that the dealer had been on their radar but he wasn’t an active case for Eli. Lani reveals that Eli was doing a background search on TR.

Beth laughs at the idea of TR making her a star, saying she’s heard that before. TR says he has the perfect role for her in “Possessed: The Marlena Evans Story” because one of his leads wants out due to personal issues. TR claims that Beth would be ideal for the part. Beth asks if she’d be playing the lead role of Marlena Evans. TR says she would be playing Celeste and be instrumental to the story as she totally steals the show. Beth points out that it’s not the Celeste Story. TR insists that she will bring depth to the role and promises she will make bank on this because word of mouth on this film is huge. Beth asks if he wants her to audition. TR says he already knows what she can do. Beth guesses he wants something from her. TR says just the courtesy of keeping their private history private. Beth informs him that he’s too late for that as she already gave every detail about him to Eli. TR reveals that Eli is in no condition to repeat that story.

Anna pulls Tony aside and questions if he’s going to hire this attorney and go through with the divorce. Tony says of course not. Anna asks if she should bring popcorn for this show. Sarah remarks that Anna will soon be nothing but an unpleasant memory as she offers the paper to Tony.

Xander questions if Maggie wants Sarah to get help. Maggie says she does but she’s not going to subject her to being hospitalized against her will. Maggie says she has to talk to Sarah and see her. Xander offers to take Maggie to the DiMera Mansion. Maggie asks if he’s sure he should come with her since he and Gwen are engaged. Xander admits that he loves Gwen and Sarah. Maggie points out that if Xander had any idea what happened months ago, he and Sarah would still be together. Maggie asks what he’s going to do. Xander says all he can think about right now is making sure Sarah gets the help that she needs.

Gwen laughs at Abigail thinking she was Ava’s accomplice and calls that ridiculous because she hardly knows Ava and she doesn’t know Kristen at all. Gwen brings up how Abigail was convinced she was masquerading as Sarah but came out looking like a fool. Abigail points out how she wasn’t wrong about it being someone in a Sarah mask and she was only wrong about the person in it. Gwen says she has somewhere to be but Abigail says she’s just getting to the fascinating part. Abigail goes over two different people masquerading as Sarah, who break up with Xander on two different occasions. Abigail says first Kristen did it to cover up Sarah’s kidnapping but the second time, she doesn’t know who would benefit from it except Gwen.

Abe asks Lani about Eli checking on TR’s background. Lani explains that TR told Paulina that he went to prison years ago for stealing from his clients to support his drug habit, but he got clean and hasn’t used or hit a woman since. Abe says that’s what they all say. Lani says that’s why Eli wanted to verify TR’s story, so he tracked down his ex-girlfriend Beth and she was at the police station when she got there this morning and said she just talked to Eli. Abe asks what she told him, but Lani says she never got to find out because Shawn alerted her to the shooting. Lani cries that they didn’t even know Eli was in the park until they got there. Lani didn’t know why he was there and wonders if she’ll ever be able to find out.

TR informs Beth of Eli being the one shot in the park. Beth asks how it happened and how he could know, unless he had something to do with it.

Gwen mocks Abigail wanting to pin this on her but says it’s obvious that Kristen was Ava’s accomplice. Abigail says she knows for a fact it wasn’t Kristen since Ned told her that Kristen was waiting for him on the island. Ava says maybe it was the pilot or maybe the guy who posed as Ava’s lawyer to get her out of the police station. Abigail questions Gwen knowing about that. Gwen says it’s all over the news. Gwen doesn’t care what Abigail thinks of her because she had nothing to do with her kidnapping, and now that she’s back, it doesn’t matter. Abigail argues that Sarah has lost months of her life and is drugged out of her mind, like Abigail was when Gwen drugged her. Gwen blames Abigail for leaving the syringe lying around, otherwise Sarah would be perfectly fine. Abigail points out that she made a full recovery, so she has every confidence that Sarah will too.

Maggie and Xander arrive at the DiMera Mansion. Maggie is excited to see Sarah but Sarah, believing she is Renee, comments that Maggie has aged.

Abe encourages Lani that she’ll get the whole story when Eli comes out of surgery. Abe reminds Lani that Kayla said Eli is in good hands. Abe adds that he’s young, strong, and has everything to live for. Lani cries that she knows but he didn’t have a pulse when she got to him. Lani states that Eli was gone and she had to give him CPR to get his heart beating until the EMTs got there. Abe declares that Lani saved Eli’s life. Lani worries about what if she didn’t as Abe hugs her.

TR claims to Beth that he had nothing to do with Eli’s shooting as it seems a deadbeat drug dealer shot him and then overdosed. Beth questions the one person that she told her story to, ends up shot and killed right after she met with him. TR says he’s a cop and it’s a dangerous job. TR says that coincidences happen. TR talks about his movie being based on real life. TR is waiting to hear Beth’s answer about playing Celeste. TR claims he has people beating down his door to be part of this project so this is a limited opportunity. TR asks if Beth wants the job or not.

Gwen argues that Abigail wants Sarah to go back to her old self because she’s cheering for Xander to throw her over for Sarah. Abigail states that Xander loved Sarah before he ever laid eyes on Gwen and he never would’ve dated her or proposed to her if he hadn’t believed that Sarah broke his heart. Abigail tells Gwen that she knows it’s true. Gwen says Abigail being so determined to find Sarah was not about Maggie but about wanting to get revenge on her.

Sarah apologizes to Maggie for being rude and claims the last time that she saw Maggie, she was chasing after a toddler. Sarah calls Xander “Alex” and questions what he’s doing here as she told him she never wanted to see him again. Sarah asks if Maggie let Xander drag her here with the ridiculous story that she is her daughter when she is obviously not. Sarah asks about Neil Curtis. Anna informs her that he’s dead which Sarah calls a shame. Sarah tells them that they are just in time as Tony has hired a divorce attorney so they will be free to get married and live happily ever after. Maggie then asks for the pen and the papers from Xander to sign off on making sure Sarah gets all the tests and treatments that she needs.

Abigail tells Gwen that not everything is about her. Abigail wants Sarah to get well because she’s her cousin and she loves her. Gwen points out that she is Abigail’s sister. Abigail argues that Sarah never tried to kill her before. Gwen questions if Abigail is so concerned about family then why she didn’t bother to tell Maggie that her daughter is back in town. Abigail says Maggie is out of town but Gwen reveals that Xander is with her now.

Sarah argues that she won’t let Maggie do this. Tony sees no harm in having a check up if the tests prove nothing is wrong. Sarah shouts that nothing is wrong and she won’t let any of them destroy her chance at happiness. Sarah goes to storm out but Kayla arrives with a cop. Xander reveals that he called Kayla before they left and told her they might need some assistance. Kayla asks if Maggie signed the consent form. Maggie asks Kayla to help her daughter. Sarah yells that she’s not her daughter and she doesn’t need help. Kayla says they are here to help her. Sarah complains that they are treating her like a criminal and warns them to get out of her way. The cop tells her that it would be best if she came willingly. Sarah questions if they will handcuff her otherwise. Sarah tells Tony to do something to help her but Tony says his hands are tied. Kayla promises they will take good care of her. Sarah calls Xander a bastard and says it’s all his fault. Sarah is dragged out in handcuffs as Kayla and the cop leave with her.

Beth questions TR bribing her with a movie role. TR asks if she doesn’t believe in her own talents. Beth ask if she’s going to get shot if she says no. TR insists he had nothing to do with that shooting but he thinks Beth knows it would be in both of their best interests if she signed on for the role.

Lani tells Abe that every time she and Eli walk out the door, they know there’s a chance that something will happen to them, so that’s why every time they leave in the morning, they say I love you. Lani isn’t sure if that’s the last thing she said to Eli. Abe assures that Eli knows how much she loves him. Lani points out that they didn’t even sleep together last night since she got home late and didn’t want to wake him. Lani wonders if that was their last chance to be a family together. Lani knows she should try to be positive and optimistic. Abe encourages her to feel whatever she wants. Lani thinks it’s so hard being back in the hospital where they lost their son. Abe reminds her that it’s also where their twins were born. Lani cries that Eli was shot in the head and wasn’t breathing. Abe hugs Lani as she prays for God to let Eli live.

Beth tells TR that selling out isn’t unheard of in this business and remarks on him putting his fist in her face. TR asks if they are having a #metoo moment. Beth hoped things were getting better but sees slimy jerks like him still run the world. Beth comments that her biggest role was woman #4 in a B movie. TR argues that his film will change all that and make her a star. Beth responds that maybe being a star isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. TR asks if she is saying no.

Kayla puts Sarah in a hospital bed. Sarah questions how she could do this to her when she saved her life on the island and kept Kristen from putting drugs in her food but this is how she repays her. Maggie says they are just trying to help her. Sarah cals her a bitch and shouts that her name is Renee.

Gwen tells Abigail that she can go tell Maggie that her precious daughter is back instead of harassing her. Abigail argues that she’s going to prove that Gwen had something to do with it. Xander arrives and questions what Abigail is so determined to prove. Gwen informs Xander that Abigail has accused her of being involved in her kidnapping even though she has no evidence. Xander argues that Abigail is in no position to be throwing stones. Xander talks about Sarah being a shell of herself because of some drug that Abigail left lying around. Abigail tries to explain that it wasn’t intended for Sarah. Xander argues that Abigail wanted Gwen to be her victim and then couldn’t be bothered to clean up after herself. Xander tells Abigail that what happened to Sarah is her fault so she doesn’t get to stand on her moral high ground this time. Xander asks why she is still here, so Abigail then walks away. Xander can’t believe Gwen is related to Abigail. Gwen thanks Xander for defending her. Xander starts to call Gwen the woman he loves but stops and says he loves her. Gwen asks if he’s alright as she can’t imagine him seeing Sarah like that. Xander is just glad she’s getting the treatment she needs and he hopes that she will be on the road to recovery soon.

Kayla encourages that Sarah will feel better soon. Sarah argues that she was feeling just fine before they showed up. Maggie asks for a moment alone with Sarah, so Kayla exits. Sarah tells Maggie to get out. Maggie sits down and says she knows how difficult this is, but she has no idea how much she’s missed her. Sarah shouts that she hates Maggie.

Anna tells Tony that she’s thankful Maggie and Xander got here when they did, so now Sarah will get locked in a padded cell and never darken their door way again. Anna asks Tony where he’d like to have lunch. Tony responds that they just witnessed a mentally ill woman getting dragged out against her will. Tony tells Anna to have some compassion. Tony complains that Sarah poses no threat to Anna at all but she was too selfish to show any kindness. Anna asks if Tony heard how Sarah talked to her. Tony understands how Anna must despise Renee DuMonde, but he loved her once and will never forgive himself for how she was murdered and this all reminded him of how horrible it all was. Tony says he’s sorry but he found Anna to be cruel to poor Sarah. Tony adds that as for lunch, he’s lost his appetite, so he won’t be joining her. Tony then exits the room, leaving Anna in disbelief.

TR tells Beth that she’s not fooling him as she wouldn’t be there if she wasn’t buying what he’s selling. Beth responds that his daughter deserves to know the truth about him, but she’s not going to tell her and she hates herself for it. TR knew she would see things his way and says he will have the papers drawn up ASAP.

Sam persuades Dante to let Spinelli investigate and see what he can find out about operation Demeter.

Michael is upset and shocked when an Invader reporter tells him about Josslyn’s sex video. Michael gets upset when the reporter says that Josslyn showed what a great athlete she is in the video. The awful remark causes Michael to punch the reporter with Jordan watching the whole thing. Jordan arrests Michael and Willow calls Carly to tell her what happened but after she dials the phone she experiences shortness of breath and passes out.

Nina persuades Harmony (temporarily being played by Priscilla Garita) to put in a good word with Willow so she can visit Wiley. Phyllis is happy and, surprised to see Harmony whom she calls by her real name Loraine Miller.

Spencer finally confronts Esme and asks her if she posted the video of Cameron and Josslyn. Esme acts hurt that Spencer’s friends finally turned him against her. Esme is also upset with Spencer when she reads the inscription that he wrote in Trina’s book which says “to our shared passion.”. Esme wonders if Spencer would have kissed Trina if she hadn’t interrupted their conversation. Spencer tells Esme he wouldn’t have kissed Trina because Trina isn’t that kind of girl. Spencer’s answer makes Esme angry and she breaks up with Spencer and storms out of the Spring Ridge visiting room refusing to answer Spencer’s question about whether she posted the video.

Drew and Carly continue to grieve Jason and talk about him as they stand on the foot bridge. Drew and Carly decide to make a fresh start in their lives.

Carly interrupts Drew’s undercover operation and Drew is forced to reveal to Victor that he was never conditioned. Drew does find out that Victor wants information on operation Demeter.

Sonny promises Nina he will only drink socially because he knows he can’t keep drinking to forget his problems because his bipolar medication isn’t as effective. Sonny doesn’t want the people he cares about to be afraid of him like he was afraid of his stepfather when he drank.

Sonny tells Nina that he will keep trying to persuade Michael and Willow to allow her to visit Wiley.

Spencer tells Trina that he knows she would never post a video of Cameron and Josslyn. Trina tells Spencer that she can’t be friends with him unless he breaks up with Esme. Spencer tells Trina he can’t leave Esme because he is all she has and without him she would be alone. Esme is listening to Spencer and Trina’s conversation and is hurt when she hears Spencer say that he knows Trina didn’t post the video so she calls the police anonymous tip line and says she knows who posted the video of Cameron and Josslyn. Trina is hurt that Spencer won’t face the truth that Esme posted the video and she tells Spencer she can’t be friends with him anymore.

Jake tells Elizabeth that he didn’t put Franco’s painting in the house because he was at the library using the computer to talk to his grandpa Jeff and grandma Caroline. Elizabeth tells Finn she is angry that her parents contacted Jake without her permission. Elizabeth is glad that Jake isn’t responsible for the strange things that have been happening to her. Elizabeth wonders who could be doing this to her.

Trina tells Portia about Cameron and Josslyn’s sex video and that Esme blames her for filming and posting the video. Portia advises Trina to walk away from Spencer and Esme because they are toxic people. Esme goes to Spring Ridge to visit Spencer and show him the bruises Carly left on her wrists.

Ryan is watching and listening to Spencer and Esme’s conversation and he looks angry. Esme tells Spencer that Nikolas and Ava are waiting until he is released from Spring Ridge to renew their wedding vows because they want him to be at the ceremony.

Trina goes to visit Spencer shortly after Esme leaves to nelp her decide if she should follow her mother’s advice.

Anna and Felicia get the upper hand on Kurt who kills himself with a cyanide capsule rather than answer their questions. Anna uses Kurt’s burner phone to call the only phone number inside the phone.

Deputy Mayor Eileen answers while meeting with Victor to tell him Laura thinks Luke was murdered. Victor meets with Drew later at the foot bridge thinking he will program Drew to help him with his plan.

Xander told Maggie that Sarah was back. She said Sarah didn’t want anything to do with her. He said that wasn’t Sarah. He said that was Ava in a Sarah mask. Maggie was glad that Sarah was back. She said that meant that Sarah still loved him. He thought she might still love him. Anna confronted Tony about letting Sarah stay at the mansion. Tony tried to defend Sarah, but Anna didn’t want to hear it. She thought Sarah should see Marlena. Sarah came down and said Marlena was dealing with someone who was tied up. Abby ran into Gwen. Gwen was shocked to see her. Abby said she was back in town. Sarah gave Tony a contract so he could get a divorce from Anna. Xander told Maggie that Sarah was delusional because of a drug that Kristen gave her. They talked about Sarah getting treatment. He said they had to do it against her will. Maggie didn’t want to give her the medication without her permission. Xander said it was the only way. Maggie refused to sign it. Gwen told Abby that she was happy that she was a lie Abby didn’t believe it. Abby said Chad tried to get a name from Ava about her kidnapping. She said Ava and Kristen had no reason to help Tony. TR tried to convince Eli that he changed. He tried to walk away, but Eli grabbed him. They fought and TR grabbed Eli’s gun. The gun went off. TR panicked after the gun went off. He placed Eli on the ground. TR texted the drug dealer to come back to him. The dealer saw Eli and tried to leave. TR pulled the gun out and said he needed his help. Lani found Beth in the interrogation room. Lani found out Beth was there to talk about TR. Lani told her that she’s his daughter. Beth told her that she used to date TR. Shawn arrived before Beth could say anything. He told her that he got a message that someone was shot in the park. He wanted Lani to check it out with him. They left Beth in the interrogation room. Lani and Shawn arrived at the park. They found Eli and the drug dealer on the ground. Lani performed CPR on Eli. Shawn performed it on the drug dealer. The paramedics arrived on the scene. Lani prayed that Eli would be okay. The paramedics took Eli to the hospital. Shawn learned that the drug dealer overdosed on his product. He wondered why Eli was there with the dealer. TR went back to his hotel room with blood on his hands. He yelled at himself because he was better than that. He realized that he had to clean up his mess. He took off his clothes so he could burn them. He thought Lani wouldn’t know he was at the park. He realized he had to do something about Beth to keep her from talking to Lani. He refused to let anyone come between him and his daughter. He called Beth. She wanted to know how he got her new number. He told her that he always keeps track of the people he shares secrets with.

Beth told TR that she met Lani. She said she was going to give a full statement against him. TR wanted to make her an offer before she did that. He wanted her to meet him at his hotel room. Later, Beth arrived at his hotel room. He promised not to hurt her. She heard it before and warned him that she had the police number on her phone. He assured her that she was safe with him. He put the do not disturb sign on the door.Belle opened the door to Marlena. Marlena saw her yellow eyes. The devil told Marlena how he left her body and entered Belle. The devil had plans for Belle. He said Marlena was powerless to stop her. Marlena wasn’t afraid of him. She demanded that he leave Belle’s body immediately. The devil laughed and grabbed Marlena by the throat. Chanel found Johnny passed out on the floor. He woke up and wanted to talk to her about something. They heard a noise. Chanel went to the foyer and Belledevil thrusted an arm at her. Chanel was scared when she couldn’t move. Belledevil threatened to kill Chanel until Johnny knocked the devil out. Marlena rushed to Belle’s side. The devil went back into Johnny’s body. He wanted to know what they were going to do to save Belle. Chanel thought they should call someone, but Johnny said they couldn’t take the chance that Belle would come to. Marlena agreed they should neutralize her. Chanel didn’t sign up for that and wanted to leave. Jodevil convinced her to stay. Chanel and Jodevil tied Belle to the bed. Marlena hated seeing Belle like that. She wanted to get her medical bag to sedate her. Chanel left to meet with Allie. Jodevil was alone with Belle and his yellow eyes returned. Marlena returned to give Belle a sedative and left. Jodevil thought he had to sell the idea that Belle was possessed. He made the bed shake as he laughed

Eli talked to Lani about TR. She let him know that she wanted to get to know him better. Eli would support whatever she wanted to do. Lani was glad that he trusted her. He said he trusted her, but he didn’t trust TR. He said he was investigating him with Billie as well as the ISA. TR went to Sweet Bits with a new script for Chanel and Allie. They refused to do the movie because of Johnny. They also didn’t want to do it because of the way he treated Paulina. He planned on making things right with Paulina and Lani. He said if Johnny recasted the roles, he would let them out of their contracts. He said he changed. After TR talked to Chanel and Allie, he called Lani to meet for dinner. After the call, a drug dealer appeared to him and made an exchange. A woman named Beth arrived at the police station looking for Eli. She said she got a call from Billie about TR. She said she used to date him. Eli told her that TR is his wife’s biological father. They went to the interrogation room to talk. She said that TR didn’t change. She said he was still a heroine user and he beat her. She didn’t tell the police because he threatened to ruin her acting career. She said she ended up in the hospital the last time and they took pictures of her. She warned him to keep his wife and kids away from TR. He thanked her for her help.

Later, Eli managed to miss seeing TR with the drug dealer. TR dropped the drugs discretely when he saw Eli. Eli told him that he talked to Beth. He told TR that he knew that he used to beat her and that he’s a heroine addict. TR denied it, but Eli picked up the drugs. They stared each other down. Lani ran into Beth at the police station. Will ran into Johnny at the DiMera mansion. They ended up arguing because Johnny wanted to make the movie based on their grandmother’s life. He wanted Johnny to rewrite the story. He said the devil was the star. Will said the movie would hurt Marlena and her career. Johnny thought the movie would only hurt his career. Later, Will ran into Allie. He let her know that he was upset about his conversation with Johnny. She told him that Johnny revealed her fling with Chanel. She told him that she’s confused. She wondered if she was gay. Ben went to see Marlena. He wanted her to know that Belle was possessed by the devil. He told her that he thought Johnny was possessed, but Susan saw 666 on Belle’s coat. He said Susan felt the devil’s presence in Belle. Marlena was worried about Belle. Susan went to the pub and saw Belle and Shawn together. She found Belle’s coat and was going to check it when she approached her. She wanted to know what she was doing. Shawn approached them. Susan warned him that he could be in danger because he was married to the devil. Shawn thought he would notice that. Susan told him that the devil wouldn’t tip his hand after what happened with Marlena. She said the devil will show himself once he gets Ben and Ciara’s baby. Susan was going to stop the devil now. She pulled out her cross and pointed it at Belle. Belle rolled her eyes. Susan admitted that the cross didn’t work so she left the pub. Shawn wanted to warn Marlena what Susan said and Belle wanted to talk to Johnny. Belle went to the DiMera mansion to see Johnny. She told him that Susan accused her of being the devil. She told him everything that happened with Susan. She looked scared and tried to leave, but Johnny grabbed her wrist. Marlena arrived at the DiMera mansion after talking to Shawn. Belle answered the door with glowing eyes.

Craig opened his door at the Salem Inn to find Sonny and Will. They wanted to talk to him about Leo. He didn’t want to hear it and closed the door. Sonny pounded on the door. Craig finally let them in the room. Sonny understood how it felt to be taken by Leo. He said Leo was always out for himself. Craig was willing to listen to them. Sonny told him how Leo was paid to seduce him and sued him for sexual harassment. He told him that he and Will tried to get rid of Leo’s body when they thought they killed him. Craig said that Leo sounded like the victim. He said it was in the past. He thought Leo changed. Sonny had proof that Craig was wrong about Leo, but he knew about the emerald that Leo stole. Craig knew Leo’s father abused him for being gay. He said it led him to embrace who he was. He said who he is made him happy. He wanted them to leave. Sonny and Will passed Leo on their way out. He gloated because their plan didn’t work.

Sonny and Will met with Chloe and Brady they let them know that their plan didn’t work. They thought Craig was more convinced that Leo loved him. Chloe refused to give up. She wanted her father to see what type of man Leo was. Sonny told her that he had an idea. Bonnie and Nancy were at the pub. Bonnie wanted Nancy to talk to her about how she was feeling. Nancy told her that her husband was gay and having a great time with his boyfriend. Bonnie advised her to be with someone else. Nancy didn’t think it was a good idea. Bonnie saw TR walk in the room and wanted him to come to their table. She wanted him to buy Nancy a drink, but he said he was waiting for someone. TR walked toward the bar. Nancy thought he was turned off by her. Bonnie told her that she was still in her prime. Bonnie had ideas to help Nancy. She wanted her to come to her house so she could help her out. TR waited for Lani to come to the pub. He was ready to give up on her when she walked in the room. She said Abe was her father and she would never forgive him for what he did to Paulina. She did say she was curious about him. She didn’t know where it would lead, but she was there. Paulina went to see Eli about TR. She didn’t like how he would be in her life. He wasn’t happy to find out that she went to TR’s hotel room and hoped she wouldn’t do it again. She told him that TR claimed he changed. Eli wasn’t impressed with that. She reminded him that she was given a second chance. Eli said it was because she knew she was wrong and apologized for it. She wished there was a way to know if he really changed. Eli was willing to get in touch with his contacts to dig into his past. He said he would find something if TR hadn’t changed.

Sonny wasn’t happy to see Justin with Bonnie. He did want to talk to him alone. He let Justin know that he couldn’t forget what Bonnie did to his mother. Justin understood but he thought he was over the animosity with her. Sonny couldn’t forget about their wedding and how he had to bribe a judge. Justin said he would do it again for Bonnie. Sonny wasn’t thrilled about that. Bonnie walked in the room while they were talking. Justin wanted to know if Sonny had a problem with his wife. Sonny wouldn’t have chosen Bonnie as his wife, but he’s okay with it if she makes him happy. Bonnie hugged Sonny and thanked him for what he said. Will went to see Marlena. She told him that she lost a lot of her patients. She said her career might be over because she lost patients the first time she was possessed and it was happening again. He reminded her that she wasn’t possessed anymore. She said she gave out bad advice when she was possessed. She thought she might be fired if Johnny’s movie about her gets made. Will was surprised that Johnny was still making the movie.

Chloe told Nancy that she met Craig’s boyfriend. Nancy felt like she was betrayed. She accused Chloe of picking sides. Chloe said she loved both of her parents. They started crying so Nancy apologized for not putting Chloe’s feelings in a account. She apologized for everything. Nancy was upset to find out that Leo was a jerk. She wanted to protect Craig from him. She wanted to protect him from a golddigger. Craig and Leo were at the Salem Inn together. Craig admitted he wasn’t sure about them being together. Leo wanted to know if Brady turned his mind against him. Craig wasn’t worried about his past. He just didn’t want to lose Chloe over that. Leo thought he wasn’t ready to be with a man so he was looking for an excuse to get out of being with him. Leo knew it would be hard for Craig to turn his life upside down. He said he could embrace his true self. Craig was afraid he would lose Chloe over their relationship. Leo promised that wouldn’t happen. They said how they felt about each other and were about to make love. Nancy barged in the room and told Leo to get off of her husband.
