Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At the Society lounge, Billy and Lily are sitting side-by-side with long, drawn sad faces after their first couples counseling session. Billy tries to remain optimistic, telling Lily that they can continue to go for counseling and do whatever they need to save their relationship. Lily says “we need to be honest, as things have been heading downhill for months.  She asks him “we don’t need to keep doing this, right? We can’t keep doing this.”

Nick comes to Sally’s suite and after she welcomes him in, she spots the paper with the first trimester information by. She quickly but not discreetly crumples it upand throws it in the trash can. Nick asks her what it is and when she tells him that it’s a pitch draft she’s been working on for Jill at Chancellor-Winters, he offers to read over the pitch and reaches down for it. Sally manages to stop him, telling him that there’s no need until the pitch is completed.

Nick offers to get some takeout for them, which Sally is in favor of. After he leaves to get the food, she removes the paper and tears it up. Nick returns with nachos and extra guacamole. Sally calls him the “perfect man” … brings her soup and ginger ale when she doesn’t feel well, and nachos when she does.

She and Nick hit the sheets and when he goes to take a shower, Sally opens the bag of nachos, takes a whiff and gets queasy from it.

At the Abbott house, Kyle and Summer are having a disagreement about her impending trip to Paris with Harrison. Summer reiterates what she told Kyle at Jabot, that she is worried about the danger in Genoa City.

Kyle is concerned about the conflict this is bringing to his and Summer’s marriage. When he mentions Phyllis, Summer strongly suggests that he not make things about her mother, when it’s actually about Diane and one chaotic thing after another that she has caused since she returned to Genoa City.

Kyle reminds Summer that Phyllis lured Jeremy to town, but Summer says that a criminal mastermind like him would have found out Diane’s whereabouts anyway. Kyle and Summer look at each other lovingly and hug. Summer tells him that unless he is strongly against her going to Paris with Harrison, she wants to start packing. She and Kyle are on the same page about protection for their family so he agrees that she could go to the textile show in Paris and bring Harrison with her.

On the Crimson Lights patio, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) observes that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is deep in thought and appears distraught. She asks if he’s okay and he mentions that he’s worried about a friend.

After Sharon goes back inside the coffeehouse, Chance comes in and mentions that he’s been alright and will continue to be okay with eating dinner alone, without Abby and Dominic. Sharon convinces him to go get takeout and the two of them come back with Ethopian food from a restaurant Chance recommended.

Sharon is enjoying the food and the company so she suggests that they could do this again next week, like a private supper club. After a little convincing, Chance tells her that he’s in.

At the Glam Club, Jeremy and Diane are doing some flirting, the outcome of which is him repeating his request that she come up with a way to prove her loyalty to him.

Later on, Diane meets up with Jack on the Crimson Lights patio and is confident that Jeremy is taking the bait and falling into her trap. She has come up with an idea for Jeremy’s loyalty test, and it’s finding a crime to commit. Jack tells her that he does not like the sound of this, but Diane assures him she can pull it off. She mentions that with success, Jeremy will be putty in her hands.

She says that she will need to steal something of very significant value and Jack offers to remove a few items from the Abbott safe. Diane declines, telling him that this would be too obvious because Jeremy could easily figure out that he was being set up. She says that she needs to steal from someone who would never under any circumstances help her.  Jack and her rule out Phyllis for being too much of a wild card, and Ashley, due to her being Jack’s sister would lack credibility.

So by process of elimination, Diane says Nikki is left as the only coven member she could steal from. Grinning, she says that since Nikki was partially responsible for bringing Jeremy to town,  as she says that Nikki deserves a little larceny coming her way.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

right. I have jam a meal, ginger and peppermint. Ah, I wasn’t sure what you liked . Thanks Chav. But you didn’t know what to go to all that trouble. Are you kidding me? It’s the least I could do. Considering you spent the entire day I skating with me and the kids. You know, I was coming down the stairs. I heard Thomas tell Jack that today was lit.

Oh my God. Where do you learn? What do you mean? Where did he learn that? When you have a dad as cool as me, you know, you pick up a few things. . Oh, well for the record, I also thought today was lit.

Yeah, me too.

I’m thinking maybe we should get you to a hospital. What now? What? And tell them that I sne. You heard Rex? Yes, I did. He said that my test results could mean that I’m relapsing, but they also might mean nothing. Yeah. And hopefully that’s the case, but I don’t want to take you to chances, so come on, let’s go get you checked out.

No, I don’t want to. I wanna stay here with my darling husband and have dinner. In fact, maybe you could make us some charter. I think that’s exactly what the doctor would order.

So what are you saying these blood test results mean? It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re relapsing. Look, I know that you are trying to be optimistic, but there’s no denying these numbers. Kate, in my m i results were almost identical last fall, but, but the rate of decline is vastly acceler. What does that mean?

That means that Kate and I might be in trouble. I suspect that Marlay is too,

oh God, to think I trusted in your loyalty. You don’t know the meaning of the word loyalty. Come on God, just because I have a little compassion for the woman. Compassion. Compassion for a sociopath and disregard for your wife. No, no, no, no, no. Not true at all. I just think you’re being a little unfair here.

Unfair. Kristin is an evil lying bitch, and you take her word over mine. Do you know how that makes me feel? You know that I feel. I feel so utterly, utterly betrayed.

Really? Oh, I’m sorry sweetheart. I, I guess I just got caught up in the moment. Yeah, it’s, it’s okay. It’s okay. That’s why we’re rehearsing here. We wanna make this fight look as real as possible here. It’s the only way I’m gonna get Kristen to trust. Yes. And as soon as you do, I hope you can find out what she has over Brady.

I don’t understand. The arch is right here. I I, I just checked on it the other day. Stop, stop, stop. Stop lying. I’m not lying. Brady, somebody took it. This is another one of your tricks, isn’t it? No. No it isn’t. And you have to believe I’m done. I’m, oh, I’m. You understand? I don’t you find that damn flower right now, or you’ll never, never see Rachel again.

Like sand through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

What? You took a video of me falling on the ice. Yep. The total wipe out. I mean, your other fault we’re good, but this one was just epic and I promised the kids I would send it to them. No, no, no, no, no, no. You can’t do that because then they will use it against me forever. I don’t care. I’m sending it. Oh.

What’s wrong? Ah, just my ankle. You think it’s sprained? No, no, it’s just sore. It’s been a long time since I’ve skated. Uh, cool. Let me have it, what, get up here. I’ll massage it. You don’t have to do that. No, I want to. I want to. And, and then maybe you can, um, accidentally delete that video. Okay, maybe. Come on.

We’ll see how good your healing powers are. Careful.

So I don’t suppose you have any more of that serum. We only had one Viler begin with the lab, used some for their analysis, and then they administered the doses and there was just a little bit left. Not enough to cure one person, let alone three. We can’t be reproduced only with the orchid that we made it.

Okay, so we’re in the same boat as before. No, no. We’re at the mercy of whoever delivered that serum the first time around. No, because we are not gonna just sit around and wait for a miracle. We are gonna find some other viable treatment and we need to warn Kate and Marlene. I’m glad we put our plan on hold over the holidays.

I don’t like fighting with you, even if it is. I’m right with you, sweetheart. Well, let me tell you something. If this works, we may finally get Kristen out of Brady’s life. Good? Yeah. Hold on.

Hey, happy New Year, Eric. I you, Hey. Looks like you had a champagne incident. Ah, yes. Don’t like that. I’m sorry for popping your mic. This, but No, no, no. What, what brings you by? Um, I’m looking for Brady. Uh, can’t help you. We just got home from the in and he wasn’t here. By the way, thank you for volunteering to watch Rachel.

For us, it gave us a chance to have a love night on one . Yeah. I’m glad you enjoyed it. But to be honest, I had an ulterior motive. What does that mean? It gave me a chance to kidnap.

You quit playing games with me, okay? I am not. I’m not. Why would I do that? When you are threatening to take my child from me, which by the way, is a despicable heart listening to do. Are you kidding me? You’ve been holding Marlene’s life over my head for the, for the last couple months and Kate’s and Cas.

Yeah. Well, Rachel is an innocent little girl. Rachel, didn’t you think, didn’t you think I wanted to bring my little daughter? No, I did not. But you gave me no choice. Gimme the flower. Gimme the, give me the flowers. I can’t for last chance. Brady. Brady, I can’t. As you complain, you can. It’s not Kristen. Don’t will tell Rachel that you said goodbye.

No, Brady, please. You can’t do that. No,

I swear to you. I swear to you on Rachel’s life that I’m telling the truth. Someone stole the orchid police.

How does that feel? Pretty good actually. You really know what you’re doing. . I dated a physical therapist for a few weeks. It, uh, obviously didn’t work out, but. She taught me a thing or two. Clearly, my ankle feels better already. Glad I could help.

It’s Alex.

Hey. Hey. I didn’t think you’d pick up. Are you still mad at me? No, we’re good. Well good. That makes me happy. You know, I just wanted to call and apologize for being such a jerk earlier. I just keep getting this feeling that Chad keeps trying to find ways to spend time with you and I, anyway, it is behind us now.

I apologize and I hope we can just move forward. Already done. Good. So tonight you want to grab some dinner? Maybe I can pick you up at your. That’s okay. I’ll meet you somewhere. Okay. How about the bistro? The bistro? Perfect. See you soon.

Heading out, Alex and I are gonna grab dinner, but thank you for the massage and for today. It was, um, it was really fun. Yeah, anytime.

Who will steal the or, I don’t know. I really, I don’t know. There is a full house upstairs and any one of them could have wandered down here and taken the, or Kristin and Kristen, you, you, you had, you took the one thing that could, that could save Marlena and Kates and Kayla’s life, and you left it in an area where an army of people would have access to it.

How could you be that careless about someone? I, I, I. They are not supposed to. They’re not supposed Who? Who’s not supposed to what? Look, ej he, he decided to secure the tunnels after Leo Stark set up camp down here and, and the construction has been going on at since last fall. Yeah. I can tell. I can tell there’s construction going on.

Yeah. When I came down here, what is your point with all that? I just figured everyone would stay clear until the construction was done. Wow. Figured wrong because usually with construction, there’s a construction team that you know is around all the time while the construction is going on. He’s to you.

There’s some guy with a hard hat who has the orchid. He probably gave it to his wife, Kristin. No, no, no. It’s here. It has to be here, Brady. No, it look it. I know I’m sure. To somewhere in this house. For your sake. For your sake, hope to God it is

you. Kidnapped our granddaughter. You’re messing with me, right? No, Rachel is safe. She’s, she’s here in Salem and she thinks she’s having a fun adventure in Salem with who? She’s with a friend who’s completely trustworthy. Did Brady sign off on this? I, I wouldn’t have done it if he hadn’t. I promise you, mom, nothing happened or will happen that will ever bring trauma to her at all.

And this is all an act just for Kristen’s benefit. Oh. Why that Flying around? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But to involve her kid Rachel is fine. I believe that it’s just that something like this could push Kristen off the deep end. Absolutely. Much as I dislike that terrible woman, any mother being made to believe their child had been abducted mom, it’s the only way we can neutralize.

She’s been blackmailing Brady for months. She demanded that he break it with Chloe and forced him to move her in here. I knew it. I knew it all along. What in the world does she have over him? Your life?

Thanks, Kate here. Yeah, I will. Uh, I’ll tell her. I love you too. Bye. So I guess that’s not good news. Kayla’s test results were almost identical to yours,

so I guess we’re relapsing together.

Could you pass me the pepper? The pepper is next to the salt. This is bland. You’re gonna have to talk to your cook about that. Hey, this is serious. Yes, I know. I, I, I know it’s serious. I know that I’m getting sick again, and I know last time I almost died, but I didn’t, and I don’t intend to die this time either.

So just pass me the pepper and let me enjoy my dinner.

Roman is going to break the news to Kate and hopefully he’ll be able to convince her to come in for more tests. Yeah. Somebody tells me my mom’s gonna put up a fight. Oh, you know Roman will fight too. Yeah. Um, I should, I should call

Kayla. Kayla. Hi.

So, okay. No, no one is here except for Harold. And he hadn’t seen the orchid anywhere in the house. He said that, uh, no one’s been in the tunnel since the construction started. He’s sure about that. Positive. Positive. Now, we were all warned to stay away because of the toxic dust and all the other serious hazards.

And he said, um, the, the foreman, he ran a very tight ship. Mm-hmm. , uh, none of his, his workers would ever steal anything, especially from the Demaris. Well, you know what, Kristin, that, that brings everything back to you. For the last time, Brady, I did not move the, or maybe you got rid of it. And why would I do that?

Don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe, maybe outta spite. How about that? Oh, oh, really? So if, if I destroyed the flower, I wouldn’t have leverage over you and you know that I would never give that up. And besides, I don’t really want Marlene and the others to die. Well now they might. Then Mike, Kristen, because of your carelessness.

I’m sorry. And your selfishness. Okay. And your I’m Soutter Insanity about I’m thing. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I really didn’t want any of this to happen. Well, here we are, and if anything happens to those three women, their blood is gonna be on your hands.

So Christian’s the one that provided the. Only after Brady agreed to dump Chloe. You know, we’ve always known that she was manipulative, but I never believed she’d even go this far. You know, doc, I had these very suspicions months ago. Do you remember when I caught Brady going through Kristen’s things? Yes.

You thought he was looking for the serum. I was wondering if she got it from Rolf and was using it to blackmail Brady. That doesn’t make any sense because once we were all cured, Brady didn’t go back to Chloe. No, he bought Kristen here to stay with us. Why would he do that if the threat to us was over?

According to Christian, it’s not

claims that all three of you, you woman, are gonna need second shine and possibly a booster. What? She won’t, she won’t turn over the orchid that we need to make the serum unless Brady keeps doing what she wants. Oh God, I don’t have more shots. Oh, you, you feel you’ve been feeling okay? Haven’t Johnny?

Yeah, dog. Oh, excuse me, ma’am. Oh, excuse me. Goodness. I’m so sorry.

How you feeling? better. I just, I just got so dizzy all of a sudden. Yeah. Thank you.

You know what? You’re burning up. You have a fever. We need to admit you immediately. No, I have so much work to catch up on. I, I, I have messages to return. I’ve got charts to review. I cannot, all the people you care about would want you to take care of yourself. I cannot believe this is happening again. I don’t want you to worry baby.

Listen, we’re gonna beat this thing just like we did last time. There’s no doubt in my mind,

Hey, to beat this, you need to be in a place where they can do everything possible to make sure it doesn’t get worse now. No. What do you mean? No? No. I mean, no. I mean, I can’t go through that again. All right. The, the, the weeding and the fear and the, the wondering what’s gonna happen because that’s my idea of hell Roman.

I refuse to do it.

I can’t do that. Katie. Okay, I get that. Alright, I get that. It’s hard. Really hard. And I’m gonna be here with you and I will be with you every step of the way, as will your son and the entire team at university. And when we get you there, they’ll be able to monitor. You’re not listening. I will not go to that hospital.

Is everything okay? Chad? I’m glad you here. Maybe you can talk some sense into this one. What’s going on? Nothing. The virus at Orpheus infected her wrist is back. What? Okay. If she needs to get to a hospital as soon as possible, don’t you agree? It doesn’t matter if he agrees, okay, I’m not doing it. I’m not going to the hospital.

End of conversation. Okay, wait.

I’m sorry about the bistro. I had no idea that they were close for renovations. That’s okay. I, uh, I actually prefer what we scrounged up in the kitchen. A little grilled cheese and tomato soup. Yeah, it’s a classic. It is a classic. Especially on a cold night like this. Hmm. Stephanie? Um, . I just wanted to apologize for the way I was earlier.

I hate the way I acted. Jealous, insecure, territorial. I’m not that guy. Well, at least I wasn’t that guy until I met you,

Alex, I promise you have no reason to feel threatened by. Like I keep saying, we are just friends. Friends who almost hooked up not too long ago, but we didn’t, I was worried about my mom’s illness and he was still craving his wife. You know, he is gonna be ready to move on at some point maybe, but that has no bearing on our relationship.

I am with you, not Sha,

when are you gonna get that through your

Oh

hmm. . Okay. Key. Can you hear me? Key. She has a pulse part week. I need to call an ambulance. I’m not waiting. I’m gonna take her to the hospital right now. Call my sister. Tell ’em we’re coming. Okay. Hey,

come on. But yet, could you just hand me my tablet over there? I might as well do some research if I’m stuck here. Okay. Oh, don’t think you should try to relax. No, it’s not. There is someone out there who may have found a different way to treat this disease, and I’m gonna find out who that is. Oh, sorry, Chad.

Hi, Chad, everything okay? Uh, no. No it isn’t. Um, uh, I’m at the pub and Kate just passed out. Roman told me to let you know that they’re on their way to the hospital now. Okay. Okay. We’ll be ready for her.

Uh, I’m sorry I tell you this, but your mom passed out of the pub and your dad’s bringing her in. Okay. Um, I’ll meet them downstairs.

You need a calm lady,

sweetheart. That’s, that’s the second time you sneeze today. Oh, okay. It’s probably nothing dying. Yeah. Do you think that Christian was lying when she said that everybody would need additional doses? Brady doesn’t think so, but he wasn’t willing to chance it. Brady, he’s sacrificed so much giving up the woman that he.

How could Kristen be so cruel? Why didn’t Brady just tell us what Kristen was holding over him? Because it was part of the terms. Brady didn’t keep quiet. She was gonna destroy the orchid who told me in the moment of frustration. So it was your idea to force her hand for Brady to tell her that she will never see her daughter again unless she forks over that.

It should be Richard and or as her feet. Oh man, I dunno about this here. Kristin’s such a, a loose cannon between this whole blackmail thing blowing up in her face and being rested for brainwashing her brother here. The walls are closing in. This whole damn thing can go sideways in a hurry. Hey, we’re gonna find out soon enough.

What happened?

Where’s he working? It’s gone.

This is nice being on the ice all day, even in the sun. I was freezing. Mm. I’m glad I could warm you up.

It’s gotta be. At least 10 below out there kind of dreading going home.

So don’t

stay the night. I mean, if you want to, of course there’s no pressure

actually. I really like that.

Listen, you have got to go call John in Marlena. Okay? I will in a minute. I just wanna make sure you’re okay first. I am fine. Now it just makes me so angry that even from behind bars, Orpheus is still wreaking. Hav on our life. Don’t say his. Listen to me. We’re gonna figure this out. I promise you. Listen, I am all for optimism, but we need to be realistic.

We survived last time because we got lucky. Someone anonymously dropped off the serum. I wish I could find out that who that person was. Yeah, I dropped the ball on that one. I was just so happy that the three of you were okay. You cannot blame yourself. We were all just so relieved that that nightmare was over.

Well, let’s just hope that whoever it was gone through for us, again,

we searched the. Damn house in the orchid, isn’t there? Well, maybe it wasn’t there in the first place. Maybe she has it hidden somewhere else. She says that she doesn’t. Yeah, right. Okay. I don’t know what happened to it, I swear. And why should we believe you? Because your son threatened to take off with Rachel and I wasn’t willing to risk losing her.

We didn’t have any problem risking the lives of three women to give what you wanted. You didn’t have any problem taking. Marlena, Kate and Kayla’s kids away from them. You know why that is? Cause you’re still a monster. You as twisted and s Okay, John, I mean, you have quickly just turned on me. I’m guessing that, uh, Brady and Eric aren’t the only ones who are, who are putting on a show you.

It’s obvious that you are the one who took my daughter. Yeah, I know that Brady arranged for you to be with her that night. You did it. You. Or a bunch of liars. You have no right to the moral high ground. Do you know what Marlena? All I’m doing is trying to get my family back. He never tried to take Rachel away from you.

He tried to be reasonable about the custody. But you know what? There’s no reasoning with you because you are deranged and you are pathetic. Kristin, what the hell? After all these years, you’re still coming after my family. And now you have put your own daughter in the direct line of fire. No, no, no, I didn’t.

Mother, son, you sit free, drink goodbye to for a. If we really lost that orchid, little Rachel could lose her grandmother. How do you think that’s gonna make her feel when she finds out that you were responsible for that? She’s not only endangered the lives of three women, you caused your daughter so much pain.

You traumatized her to know him that. That wasn’t enough. Only cause of your damn sick obsession with my son.

Maybe. Maybe we’re enough. Maybe. We’ll, we’ll find, we’ll, we’ll, we’ll find out. There’s all this stuff. I mean, maybe we’ll find the orchid. I What if we don’t, I don’t know. What if we don’t? What’s the plan then? What if the symptoms come back? Steve? Hey partner. Where do I feel you on what’s going on here? Hey.

Is Marlena feeling okay? And she’s fine. Why? I have some bad news.

Oh, Rex Mom. Hey, hey. How you feeling? I didn’t wanna go to the hospital. I know, I know. I’m sorry For whatever it’s worth. We took a vote when you were on the floor of the pub and you lost.

It’s bad, isn’t it? I am just glad that you are here.

It’s so strange. I felt fine. Seems like a moment ago, and now I wake up here. I feel so weak. It’s happening faster this time. Just rest. Okay, just rest. I’m gonna take good care of you.

Will you do me a favor? Anything?

Don’t lemme die here.

Babe, is your leg okay? Uh, yeah. It’s just my ankle. It’s been a long time since I’ve skated. Oh, well, I can massage it for you. Oh, that’s okay. Chad, already, Chad gave you a massage. Okay. It wasn’t like that. I swear. Okay. Okay. Okay. I’m not jealous at all. I just don’t want to spoil the mood. Oh, is this how I get you to behave?

Hmm. It’s promise of sex. Well, I prefer to think of it as making. Love . Hey, now you definitely spoiled the mood. Just stop. Roger that

sweetheart. We’re gonna need to get you to the hospital, honey. It was a couple of us knees. I’ll be fine. Steve said Caden. Caleb were fine too, right before they passed down. Ju just let me at least get you off your feet. Okay? Honey, please just do this for me, please. Sure. Okay, I’ll lie down. Okay? Yeah, come on.

Uh, if you hadn’t been playing your games, the doctors could have found a cure by now. And if anything happens, Kate or Kayla and they don’t make it, that’s on you and Amy. That’s just not my invention. I I, I was planning to turn the orchid over at the first sign of any symptoms

We need to find that way. Yes, and I do wanna find that orchid as well, but guess. There is a, uh, pressing matter at hand. Really? What’s that? I want my daughter back now.

My sister had the orchid the whole time. Yeah. But according to John, it’s gone. So Kristen knew that Kate and the others would need another dose and didn’t say a word. If she’d have given us that damn flower at the start, we’d be in the clear. What the hell is wrong with her? Well, apparently she’s using the orchid to control Brady.

In other words, playing games with people’s lives. Yeah, and that means that the women we love could pay the price. Mom, I know you do not want to be here, but this is the best possible place for you right now without an attitude. Look. Doing research. We’re talking to experts. We’re doing everything in our power to find another cure.

I thought we were cured. I know with dad it only took one dose and I just assumed that. I’m sorry. I need to really, I’m so sorry. I need help. Please don’t do that. Don’t blame yourself. Is there anything else I can do for you? Besides let you go home

Call your siblings, tell them not to come. I

mom.

I feel so strange. Strange how? Mom? Mom, which crew? I know. Mom, can you hear me? Treat.

Hello? I love you.

You think could have stolen the orchid? For what reason? I, how the hell do I know? Kristen? I’m just asking you if it’s possible. Well, he’s halfway around the world. I don’t see how he.

Mommy. Oh my gosh, sweetheart. Oh gosh. Are you all right? Yeah, but I missed you. Oh, honey, I missed you too. I’m glad. So we couldn’t come home because you and daddy were sick. He told you that. Are you better now? Yes. Sweet. Yeah, your daddy and I are perfectly fine. Wish we could say that about everybody else.

Had to go break the news to Kayla about the orchid. Is there anything I can do to help? Actually, yeah, you could, uh, call Stephanie for. I’m sure she’s gonna want to be here for her mom. Absolutely. I’ll call her. I’ll call her right now.

I’m right.

So Kristen had the orchid all along and she lost. Oh, I’d like to throttle her right now. I’d like to do a lot worse. We’ll figure out a way to make her pay as soon as you’re all better. Did you find anything useful in here? No, nothing. I combed all through the research on this disease, any kind of other treatment, and there is nothing.

So without the orchid, we’re doing everything we can to find that right now. And in the meantime, unless some of that serum might show up, I just don’t know how long we go. Wait,

I’m scared, baby. The fight isn’t over yet. You can’t give up. You know what? You and Kate and Marlena are the strongest women I know. This disease doesn’t have a chance against. You’re all gonna be fine. I just know it.

All right, one more time. Claire. Oh god. Doctor, it’s time to car. No, no, no, no. Do it again. Try it again, Rex. Try it again. The more we can do. Time of death. 8 0 2. No, no. Don’t stop. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, dad.

Again, shh. Can this guy take a hit?

Sorry, Chad, my man. You aren’t interrupting us this time. Uh, Steph, it’s Chad. You, um, you gotta get to the hospital right away. It’s your mom.

Come on Steph. You don’t have much time.

Thank you. Here we go. Thank.

How you feeling? Sweetness. Look, I just went 10 rounds with a Ali. Oh, you look very beautiful to me. Always.

You know, nothing should surprise us about Kristen, but I can’t believe that she would knowingly put three people’s lives at risk because of her obsession with Brady. Don’t worry about Kristen. What I need you to do is focus all your energy on beating this thing, getting better. I wish I had your

What if we don’t get a hold of that orchid soon?

Don’t say it. Look at me.

You need to keep the faith we have to.

So breathe out. Searching for the orchid. Yeah. In fact, he’s out there right now with a couple of black patch investigators.

It’s already thought that maybe Christian is lying about the orchid being stolen. I wouldn’t put that pastor, you know, doc is a general rule. I don’t put anything past Kristen, but I think she’s on the level this time.

Have to hope to find it before it’s too late.

Damn. He’s got, you’ve done everything medically. Do more, do more, do more. She’s gone. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. She’s God

like sand through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

She looks like she’s,

we just founded a way back to each. We were gonna get a ride. We were gonna get a ride.

I’ll give you two. A moment alone.

Hey Dan. Yeah, I just wanna say that she, Mom told me many times how happy you made her. She loved you very much.

Baby.

How many times have we overcome obstacles that we didn’t think were possible to overcome all these years? How did we do that? Huh? I’ll tell you how. Our love.

Do I need to remind you the power of our love?

No, you don’t need to

listen.

I need you to go take that. Roman Kate, baby. They have each other. I’m not gonna leave your side. Look, I’m fine. I’m, I’m, I’m gonna be stable and I.

Update written by Joseph

Marlena joins John in their hotel room at the Salem Inn. Marlena talks about her massage and thinks it was a good idea for them to get a room for New Year’s. Marlena notes John is distracted and asks him what’s wrong. John informs her that he’s reading a disturbing message from Brady. John tells Marlena that she’s not going to believe what Kristen has done now.

Kristen paces at home and angrily questions how this could be happening. Brady tells her to come sit down but Kristen shouts that she can’t sit and she can barely breathe. Kristen asks why there hasn’t been a ransom demand. Brady reminds her that they were told to wait for further instruction so they just have to be patient. Kristen screams that their daughter has been kidnapped. Kristen talks about what they went through to be a family and cries that they can’t lose her. Brady assures that they won’t. Kristen questions Brady being so calm and asks how he can be so sure.

Eric, Sloan, and Rachel have sandwiches at Sloan’s apartment. Rachel complains that she doesn’t like peanut butter so Sloan offers to make her something else. Sloan mutters that it’s not like she didn’t aid and abet a felony against her will. Rachel questions what she said as she didn’t hear her. Sloan claims that she just asked if she wants a grilled cheese instead but Rachel declines. Eric asks if she wants to watch Jurassic World, but Rachel says she wants to go home. Eric thought she was having fun. Rachel responds that she’s not now. Eric suggests she and Sloan were going to do a makeover but Rachel doesn’t want to. Eric encourages that it will be fun but Rachel repeats that she wants to go home. Eric then tells Rachel that she can’t go home, so she questions why not. Sloan urges Eric to explain to Rachel why she can’t go home.

Kate and Roman sit together at the Brady Pub. Kate says one of her New Year’s Resolutions is to stop at the first bottle of champagne. Roman points out that they did have a lot to celebrate. Rex arrives and greets them. Kate mentions that she’s going to see Lucas at the prison this afternoon and invites Rex to come. Rex says he would love to, but they have something very important to discuss first. Rex then presents Kate’s test results. Kate opens the envelope and sees that she has elevated liver enzymes again and low acid. Rex reminds her that those levels had returned to normal after receiving the serum. Kate asks if he thinks she’s relapsing. Rex says not necessarily and asks how she feels. Kate says she’s fine other than a hangover. Roman asks if anything else could cause abnormal results like these. Rex jokes that overindulging on egg nog would affect her liver function. Kate assumes he wants to run more tests. Rex says she will show antibodies for this virus for the rest of her life, so they can test for reinfection. Roman asks what they can do. Rex responds that he wants to run tests on Marlena and Kayla to see if they get similar results.

Marlena asks John what Kristen has done now. John responds that he’s not sure but Brady says he thinks they should hang out here a little longer but he didn’t say why. John adds that Brady did say he had a pretty rough night as Kristen was arrested for brainwashing her own brother.

Brady tells Kristen that he’s calm because he has to be and Rachel needs them to keep clear heads. Kristen asks what they can do to find her. Brady encourages that John is on the case and chasing leads while Eric is looking for her as well. Kristen worries that Rachel has to be scared. Brady thinks she’s exhausted and encourages her to lie down but Kristen complains that she can’t even sit still. Kristen cries that she loves Rachel so much and she can’t believe this is happening again as Brady hugs her.

Eric tells Rachel that she can’t go home right now because Kristen is sick and she doesn’t want her to get sick. Rachel asks why can’t Brady pick her up then which Sloan eggs on. Eric claims that Brady is sick too. Rachel then excitedly declares that means Brady and Kristen must have kissed at midnight because that’s how you attract germs. Sloan sends Rachel to the kitchen to get a cookie. Sloan complains to Eric about being stuck babysitting a stir crazy kid and not having a choice in the matter. Eric apologizes and promises to make it up to her. Sloan says he better, warning that she could be disbarred for this. Eric insists that they won’t get caught. Sloan is not as sure and declares that she needs this to be over today or else he will have to come up with a new plan.

Kate tells Rex that this isn’t really an emergency since she feels fine since he took the blood sample on Christmas Eve. Rex calls it reason to be optimistic but he’d like to know what they are dealing with which Roman agrees with. Steve and Kayla arrive. Roman welcomes them home. Steve and Kayla say it’s good to be back and wish them a Happy New Year. Kayla questions why everyone looks so serious. Roman responds that they have some news and it’s not good.

Marlena asks if Dr. Rolf drugging and brainwashing people will ever stop. Marlena is surprised that Rolf was taking orders from Li and Kristen. John explains that Li was at the helm of DiMera so he and Kristen shared the same goal. Marlena questions Kristen’s motivation. John explains that with Stefan after Chloe, it would open up a path for her and Brady and it turned out she was right. Marlena remarks that it’s always about Brady. John agrees that every thing Kristen does always goes back to her obsession with Brady.

Brady tries to calm Kristen down and acknowledges that it’s a parent’s worst nightmare. Kristen says she keeps blaming herself and wonders if someone took Rachel to get back at her. Kristen then brings up Sarah Horton making the house call when Rachel was sick a few weeks ago. Brady argues that she’s grasping at straws but Kristen insists that it makes total sense and she bets Xander helped. Kristen wants to go over there but Brady stops her and says he will make some calls. Brady urges Kristen to go to bed and get some rest. Kristen wants to be there while he makes those calls but Brady says she doesn’t need to be and that he will give her any information. Brady adds that Rachel wouldn’t want her getting sick over this. Kristen then agrees to go try to sleep so she heads to the bedroom. Brady then pulls out his phone.

Eric knows he’s asking a lot of Sloan but assures that it won’t last much longer. Sloan says it better not. Rachel returns from the kitchen and asks Eric if she can call her parents now. Eric says they are resting now but promises she can talk to them soon. Sloan suggests that makeover and promises it will be fun so Rachel agrees to do it. Sloan sends Rachel to the bathroom to pick out her favorite makeup colors. Sloan tells Eric that he’s welcome. Eric knows he tricked her in to this. Sloan points out that he lied to her face. Eric remarks on what a skilled liar he’s become. Sloan jokes that he’s lucky she’s madly attracted to him or else she would’ve turned him in already and tells him not to push it. Eric says he will call Brady to tell him that Rachel is homesick, so they need to move to the next phase which Sloan calls a good idea. Eric then gets a call from Brady, who asks how Rachel is holding up. Eric informs him that she’s missing him and is homesick, so he told her that they had colds. Brady knows Eric wanted to keep this going a little longer to get Kristen desperate enough to fold but he doesn’t think she’s going to get any more desperate than she is. Brady says he could come up with wacky theories to pretend to investigate and adds that he’s tried to stall John and Marlena but they are going to come home any second and complicate everything. Brady thinks they should pull the trigger and make the demand of Kristen now. Eric agrees. Brady declares that the sooner he gets the Orchid, the sooner he gets his daughter back and they can put an end to this whole thing.

Rex assumed that one dose of the serum would keep the illness at bay forever. Roman calls it reasonable, comparing it to his illness years ago while Rex explains it was different and the cure was mysteriously dropped off in a vial. Steve wishes he worked harder to find out who that mysterious benefactor was. Kate points out that they don’t even know that anyone is sick. Kayla suggests she go to the hospital with Rex to draw her blood. Rex agrees to put a rush on the labs. Kayla says they’ll do it themselves. Steve asks how long it will take. Rex says it could be later today or tomorrow at the latest. Roman asks what about Marlena. Kayla suggests giving her more time with John instead of worrying her until they actually know what’s up.

Marlena asks John if Kristen had Dr. Rolf brainwash Brady. John says Brady would be a lot more enthusiastic about having Kristen in their house and sleeping with her instead of walking around with a dark cloud over his head if he were brainwashed. John adds that Brady made it clear that Kristen didn’t give him a choice when it came to breaking up with Chloe and moving Kristen in, so she’s holding something over his head.

Brady tells Eric that he almost feels bad for putting Kristen through this Hell, but then he keeps reminding himself of why they are doing it. Eric says there couldn’t be a better reason than saving three women’s lives. Brady says that’s if Kristen is telling the truth about them needing another dose of the serum. Brady adds that when they make the demand for the orchid, Kristen’s going to know it’s coming from him since he promised to never tell another soul, so he will have to be careful about how he breaks the news to her so she doesn’t go off the deep end. Eric remarks that she’s already there. Brady worries that she could always go further. Kristen comes back in to the room behind Brady, as he tells Eric that Kristen is going to go nuts when she finds out that he was the one behind kidnapping Rachel, so he’ll have to be really careful about finding the right moment to drop the bomb on her. Kristen then whispers behind him that she thinks he just did.

Kate tells Roman that she’s going to see Lucas and that Rex can go another time. Roman offers to drive her but Kate insists that she’s fine and she will call him when she gets there. Kate says goodbye to Steve and exits the Pub. Roman asks Steve if he can get him anything. Steve says he’s lost his appetite. Roman is sorry he had to come back to this. Steve hates to think the worst if the women suffer through that illness again. They agree that they can’t let that happen.

Rex and Kayla go to the hospital. Kayla asks Rex what made him decide to run the test on Kate when she wasn’t showing any signs. Rex says he was just checking boxes to prove to the FDA that the treatment is still working. Kayla asks how Rex is. Rex responds that he hopes he didn’t fail his mom or all three of them.

Marlena tells John that she wishes they could find out what Kristen is holding over Brady’s head. John says then they could get Brady out of the situation and Kristen out of their home. Marlena says the real mystery is why they were asked to stay at the Salem Inn a little longer to accommodate Kristen. John doesn’t know but says it’s not like it’s hard to be alone with her like this which she agrees with. John suggests they make real productive use of this time together as they kiss.

Brady tells Eric that Kristen is there so he has to go and hangs up. Brady tells Kristen that he was hoping she would be able to get some sleep. Kristen says she bets he was. Brady doesn’t know what she overheard. Kristen reveals that what she heard was that her suffering and being sick to death with worry about Rachel is all on Brady’s head. Kristen screams at him, questioning what the hell he did with her daughter.

Sloan asks Eric if they are onto the next phase. Eric confirms that Brady is telling Kristen as they speak. Eric hopes there’s no weapons in close proximity and that this will all be over. Sloan calls Rachel in to show Eric her makeover. Eric tells Rachel that she looks beautiful. Rachel says she was going to give Sloan a makeover next, but she had a better idea; that it’s Eric’s turn.

Kristen demands an answer from Brady as to where Rachel is. Brady responds that Rachel is fine. Kristen asks where she is. Brady says he’s not telling her. Kristen questions why he’s doing this. Brady says she gave him no choice. Kristen doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. Brady says he needed leverage on her, so he took Rachel, and she’s not going to get her back until she hands over the Orchid.

John and Marlena continue kissing until John stops to sneeze which they laugh about. Marlena then suggests John give her a massage which he agrees to.

Rachel and Sloan give Eric a makeover with makeup and bows in his hair. Sloan and Rachel then decide it’s time to do his lips with lipstick.

Kristen argues that Brady can’t do this. Brady responds that he already has. Kristen complains that Brady doesn’t give a damn about the hell he’s put her or her daughter through. Brady insists that Rachel is fine and in very good hands. Kristen asks whose hands and who the other accomplice that he was talking to on the phone. Brady says she’ll never know. Kristen argues that he’ll never get away with this. Brady brings up Kristen complaining about the hell he’s put her through and asks what about the hell she’s put him through and what about Chloe. Kristen is sure Chloe is having a grand time in the afterglow with her new lover and they’re on cloud nine now. Kristen declares that Brady has screwed himself big time, because he lost his slutty girlfriend and now his daughter which he questions. Kristen asks if Brady thinks a judge is going to let him have custody of Rachel after this stunt. Brady argues that no other judge will ever know about this. Brady tells Kristen that she screwed herself by playing with the three women’s’ lives and she pushed him to do this. Brady declares that if Kristen ever wants to see Rachel again, she’ll hand over the Orchid to him and then Rachel will come home in a heartbeat. Brady warns that if Kristen doesn’t, he promises that she will never see Rachel again.

John and Marlena lay in bed together. Marlena says she could stay like this with him forever. John says there’s nothing he would like more, but his alarm is going off that it’s time to go home since he already pushed their checkout time by an hour. Marlena suggests another hour. John admits that’s very tempting but declares that they need to get home to see if they can find a way to help Brady out. Marlena guesses it’s back to the real world.

After having her blood drawn, Kayla calls Steve, who asks how she is feeling. Kayla says she’s the same as she was 30 minutes ago and Rex is in the lab and the test results should be back any minute. Steve says he’s on his way. Kayla tells him he doesn’t need to but Steve says he’ll be right there, so she thanks him and hangs up.

Rachel draws a heart on Eric’s arm with lipstick and says she will give Brady and Kristen one when she gets home. Rachel mentions being excited for Brady and Kristen. Eric points out that they don’t know for sure what happened between them. Rachel insists that they kissed and will soon get married. Eric knows that’s what she wants. Sloan interrupts and sends Rachel to wash the makeup off her hands. Sloan questions Eric getting her hopes up about her parents. Eric says he didn’t know what else to say. Sloan is sure he could’ve come up with something and worries that Rachel’s heart will be broken when she finds out the truth that her dad hates her mom and they will never get married. Eric argues that his mother’s life is at stake as well as his stepmom and his aunt, so if this is what it takes to save them and get Brady out from under Kristen’s thumb, then it’s all worth it.

Kristen argues that Brady wouldn’t do it because it would break Rachel’s heart if he kept her from her. Brady suggests they just do this the easy way then. Brady asks her to just give him the Orchid. Kristen argues that he would just kick her out of the house and go running back to Chloe, even though she doubts Chloe will have him. Brady guesses they will find out. Kristen says they won’t. Kristen demands he bring Rachel back or she will let the three women die. Kristen asks if that’s a risk he wants to take. Brady warns that if she threatens him, he will threaten her right back. Brady tells her if she withholds the orchid, she will never see her kid again. Brady asks if that’s a chance she wants to take. Kristen then says “fine, let’s go.”

Steve arrives at the hospital and joins Kayla at the front desk. Kayla talks about having a lot of catching up to do at work and worries about being out for weeks again. Steve asks if this is really how she wants to spend her time if that’s even a possibility. Steve hugs Kayla as Rex comes back with the test results. Rex hands them to Kayla, who sees the same abnormalities as in Kate’s blood work. Kayla mentions that she still feels fine right now but then she sneezes. Steve argues that sneezing doesn’t necessarily mean anything but Rex points out that’s how the illness presented itself last time in all three cases. Kayla declares that they both know she is relapsing.

Kate returns to the Pub and asks Roman if there’s any news. Roman informs her that Kayla called Steve, so he went to get the test results, so they should all know something soon. Roman asks how Lucas is. Kate then sneezes.

John and Marlena return home. John notes it’s awfully quiet. Marlena suggests maybe Brady persuaded Kristen to leave. John takes their bags to the bedroom. Marlena then sneezes and blames the massage oil. John comes back and wonders where everybody is.

Kristen brings Brady to the DiMera Mansion. Brady questions her keeping the Orchid here and asks who else is in on it. Kristen says no one is and asks where else she would keep it. Brady then asks where it is. Kristen tells him to follow her as she opens the entrance to the underground tunnels.

Eric gets a text from Brady and informs Sloan that Kristen has apparently taken Brady to get the Orchid, so this is going to be over today.

Kristen brings Brady in to the wine cellar in the tunnels. Brady can’t believe he didn’t figure this out since everything is always kept in the secret room. Kristen then opens the cabinet, only to find that the Orchid is gone.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At the Glam Club, Ashley meets up with Phyllis, who has summoned her to tell her that Diane is back in Genoa City and never ran in fear of Jeremy. She also mentions that the situation with Diane is wreaking havoc with her relationship with her daughter. Summer no longer confides in her or trusts her after Diane has corrupted her.

Summer comes into the club, and when she interrupts Phyllis and Ashley’s conversation, Phyllis tells Summer that she is too hurt to speak with her at that point. Summer remains steadfast and after Ashley excuses herself, Phyllis asks Summer how she would like being treated like trash and not being believed, over and over again. Summer apologizes profusely and tries to make peace with her mother.

Daniel comes by the club and offers to get the three of them around of drinks, but Phyllis gets up, tells Summer she has a meeting anyplace but there, cannot continue their conversation and leaves. Summer then turns to Daniel and opens up to him, venting about how she is caught between her mother, Kyle and his mother. Daniel tells her that he’s always available to listen, but at the same time says that she never should have held back to begin with.

As much as she is upset with her mother for reaching out to Jeremy and letting him know Diane’s whereabouts, Summer lets Daniel know that Jeremy is a criminal and he would have tracked Diane down on his own anyway.

Summer continues her diatribe, telling her brother the kinds of the things she has been stuffing down just so she can go along with whatever Kyle wants, for the sake of their marriage. Daniel expresses concern about Summer lying in this manner.

Summer also mentions that she doesn’t know how much longer Kyle can turn a blind eye to the havoc Diane is creating before it starts to come between her and Kyle openly and seriously.

At the Abbott house, Jack is anxious and on edge about Diane’s plan to lure Jeremy into a false sense of security about her wanting to get back together with him. She asks Jack bluntly if he’s concerned that she won’t be able to pull it off … or that she will.

Jack tells her that he doesn’t think his feelings matter much, he is just uneasy about the whole situation. Diane strongly suggests to Jack that he put his personal feelings aside for the sake of making their plan work.

Diane mentions that she has to convince Jeremy he’s in control, that she is coming back to him freely. She says that in order to pull the whole plot off, she needs to return to the hotel.  Jack tells Diane that he does not want her returning there because it’s not safe with Jeremy living under the same roof.

Jack wants Diane to remain at the Abbott house, but when she is adamant about going back to the hotel, Jack reconsiders.

Kyle comes into the living room and joins Jack and Diane’s conversation. Diane tells Kyle that she wants Jeremy to think that she had been living in an apartment and moved out of it and back to the Grand Phoenix.

After Diane leaves the Abbott house, Jack and Kyle talk about how Phyllis has become extremely upset and when this happens, she’s a wildcard. Jack mentions to Kyle that he hopes that Summer can get her mother to see reason because Phyllis has a pattern of going to extremes, without thinking about the consequences.

At Devon’s penthouse, Abby arrives with Dominic so he can spend time with Devon. Tucker comes by asking for another visit with Dom. Abby agrees to it, but adds that she wants to be present during the visit. Tucker is happy to be spending time with Dom, particularly because Abby and Devon are going to be in each other’s lives forever, due to their connection to Dom.

For Devon and Dom’s sakes, Abby struggles to be a little nice to Tucker before he has to go. After Tucker leaves, Devon thanks Abby for being willing to let Dom and his grandpa Tucker have bonding time. Devon and Abby agree that Dom can never have too much love.

Abby lets her guard down, telling Devon that things feel so uncomplicated and right when she is with him. He lets her know that he feels the same way about her. They lean in for a passionate kiss. Devon tells her that he wants her to stay and she tells him that the feeling is mutual. Clothes come off and they make love on the couch.

Tucker goes over to Diane’s hotel suite, knocks on the door, and with his voice disguised says it’s Jeremy. Before she even opens the door, he let’s her know it’s Tucker, When she opens the door, she greets him with “you’re a son of a bitch.”

Tucker looks around the room and says it looks like she’s packing because she got a suite of her own to move into at the Abbott house. Diane is quick to correct him that this is not the case, it’s the other way around, that she moved back into the hotel from the Abbott house.

Tucker tells Diane that he needs to know when Jeremy is leaving Genoa City. When Diane asks him why, Tucker says he has big plans and wants Jeremy gone so he won’t mess things up. Diane lets Tucker know that she is displeased with him telling things about Jeremy to Ashley, because this only fuels Ashley’s hatred for Diane.

Diane also says that she has lost Jack, but Tucker disagrees, telling her that she has Jack wrapped around her finger. Then he says that in fact, he could learn a thing or two from Diane.  As he gets ready to leave, he mentions that they could both get the Abbotts of their dreams.

Tucker then goes to Crimson Lights, where he comes upon an upset Phyllis, who’s at the counter where the cream and sugar are, leaving Amanda a long, sad voicemail. Tucker picks up on some of it and observes that Phyllis probably needs someone to talk to. At first, Phyllis blows him off, but he persists, letting her know that they don’t need to be friends in order to have a mutually beneficial relationship.

Meanwhile, Diane goes over to the Abbott house to let Jack know that she has moved back into her hotel suite and has unpacked her belongings. Kyle tells his mother that although he hates the plan the three of them are involved in, he’s got her back and offers to help however he can before heading upstairs to check on Harrison.

Jack tells Diane to feel free to rely on him and let her guard down whenever she needs to. Ashley comes into the house as Diane is hugging Jack and thanking him for his support. Ashley angrily confronts them, demanding to know what’s going on.

Phyllis: Hey.

Ashley: I came as soon as i got your message. What’s going on?

Phyllis: Diane’s back.

Ashley: Ugh! And I was hoping we were finally rid of her.

Phyllis: Mnh. She never really ran, by the way. That was just to cover so Jeremy Stark would leave town looking for her. And the worst part for me is my own daughter blew me off for Christmas so she could spend it with Diane and her husband so he could, you know, live out his childhood dreams with his mom.

Ashley: I am so sorry. That must have been very painful.

Phyllis: I’m not done. There’s more. Ashley, my daughter has always confided in me. She’s always trusted me before Diane corrupted her. And my daughter let everybody in town think that I was the one who chased Diana out of town, when, really, there was — i don’t know — a Jabot-sponsored motorcade bringing her up to the Abbott cabin.

Devon: Look at you. Look at this jacket. Look at your hat.

Abby: Ooh, I can get you one.

Devon: It’s very cute. Can you?

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Devon: I’d love that. Same size, please. I want to match this guy.

Nate: Good. I’m glad we discussed this. Is there anything else on your mind? Something that’s bothering you?

Victoria: Why would you think that?

Nate: Well, I feel like I’ve gotten to know you pretty well, and you haven’t seemed like your usual self since you walked in here. Would you like to talk about it?

Victoria: [Gasps]

Nate: Uh, tell you what. Let’s clock out for a bit. I can grab us two coffees from the break room, then the personal won’t encroach on the business.

Victoria: Okay, I’d like that.

************””*************************

Chelsea: This is what you’re gonna do. You go to Lily, you bring her a ton of flowers or — or, um, you play her her favorite song on your phone — anything to help make her listen.

Billy: Stop, please. Okay? This is not about me spending too much time with you.

Chelsea: Are you sure about that?

Billy: I am sure about that. It’s actually the one thing we agree on. And I knew that’s what your assumption would be, which is why I didn’t want to bring it up in the first place. So can you please just get that out of your head?

Chelsea: [Sighs] So, what happened? Why would Lily want to call it quits?

Billy: Because of me. Because of who I am, you know? I’m self-centered and I’m restless, and it’s the same reason why I quit the podcast, ’cause I thought I needed to focus on my corporate gig. But that didn’t work either. I’m just constantly in need of the next best thing, the next — next thing that’s gonna give me a rush to make me feel alive. It’s — it’s, you know — it’s who I am. It’s my track record. I am less than an ideal long-term partner.

Chelsea: I’m not gonna let you talk like this. Tearing yourself down. There is so much more to you. There’s a reason Lily loves you so much, and you love her. You two are great together. Are you really willing to just give up?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

cody? Are you here? Felicia! Hey. You just missed it. Missed what? Well, I brought in the new year by staying up all night helping a-a struggling filly. She was, uh, trying to give birth. Uh! It reminded me of the time I helped britt with that miracle baby born on christmas eve. You know, if you think about it, I guess every life is a miracle.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. So, uh, what brings you to the q stables so bright and early? Mac has been trying to reach you. He’s in the middle of an investigation. Otherwise he would have come here to tell you himself. Tell me what? I am so sorry, cody. Britt died last night. Maxie jones, you and britt westbourne were friends and related by marriage, right? Do you have a comment on her tragic death? Can you please have the decency to let us grieve before you hound us with questions? Hey! Hey! Leave her alone! Whoa, whoa, whoa. This is my hotel. Get away from her! If you don’t leave now, I’m calling security. No. Leave! Go!

[ Sighs ] Thank you, nina. I can’t believe this. Any of it. No. Neither can I. Liesl, what are you doing? What does it look like? I’m saving what’s left of my daughter. I need to make a phone call. You already made a phone call. If your lawyer doesn’t want to show up, I don’t know what to tell you. I need to talk to my son. Britt westbourne is dead. She wasn’t just my ex-girlfriend, she was — she was an important part of spencer’s life. And I need to reach him before anyone else tells him about it. But he’s not taking any of my calls. You can do that on your own time. I mean, we got a string of murders we’re trying to solve here, and I need answers. So why don’t we start with you telling me about your relationship with spencer’s girlfriend, esme prince?

[ Monitor beeping ] Can’t you take these off me? Sorry, the staff’s not allowedto remove the restraints. All I remember is… waking up here with some police detective asking me questions that I couldn’t answer. Are you sure there’s nothing else you remember, esme?

[ Door closes ] Did we have a good night’s sleep last night? And did we make all gone with our breakfast smoothie? Where were you last night? My favorite security guard looked the other way again and covered for me while I slipped out for a little night air. And where’d you go? Oh, you know, this way and that. Did your, uh…walk take you anywhere near the pier? I don’t know what you mean. Word is someone’s sunk a hook into britt westbourne last night. Oh, dear. How is she? She’s dead. I don’t know how I couldn’t have seen it. I mean, I must be blind. It was right in front of my face. What was? Not what. Who. It was you.

Oh. Hi, honey. What are you doing here? Well, um… trina called. Said she’s worried about you. Said you’re having a hard time shaking the news about britt’s death. It’s just so tragic and unbelievable. And [Sighs, chuckles] She wasn’t just my boss. I-I respected her. She was my friend. I know. It is tragic, baby. Look, I want you to know, right here and now, that I will stand by your side. I will hold your hand at britt’s memorial service, okay? I’m here for you. Because… this morning when I woke up, I watched you sleep. And, baby, I was just… I was overcome with gratitude for you and for us. Look, life goes on. Just has to. So, I went to the florist and I said, “help me. Please help me with something that will give us hope for the future.” And… what is that, babe?

[ Chuckles ] That is a calathea. The florist says it symbolizes new beginnings. Well, that gave me hope. Because you and i are a new beginning. Britt got nicked by the hook and — and — and the venom poisoned her. So she died on the night of her first birthday party. It’s tragic. It’s hard to make sense of it. Yep. W-w-why would the hook target her? From what I understand, the attacker was targeting someone else. Britt stepped in and saved one life, only to lose her own. Yeah, but she was a doctor. She was destined to save so many more lives. Her poor mother.

[ Sighs deeply ] Does dr. Obrecht know? Britt died in her mother’s arms. At least she wasn’t alone. This is just so unbelievable. I mean… you know, as smart and as beautiful as britt was, she… life never seemed to give her a break. That sounds like someone else I know. Thank you both for — for meeting me here. Um… I had — I talked to the funeral home and they need something for britt to wear.

[ Sighs ] And aunt liesl, she’s not up to it, of course. And honestly, I’m not sure I am, either. Did anyone talk to the police? Are they okay with us going to her room? Y-yeah. I talked to mac and he said it was fine because britt was not the intended target. She… she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Wrong for her, but she did manage to save someone else’s life. Britt would have loved to hear people talk about her as a hero.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah.

[ Chuckles ] And I could just s-see her lapping it up. Making all the haters eat every nasty word they ever said to her.

[ Exhales deeply ]

[ Voice breaking ] Why isn’t she here? My whole life I was always a loner. I didn’t make many friends, and then to meet your bff in your 30s… how can I live in a world without her?

[ Sobbing ] Hey. Remember the last time we saw her? How hard she pushed for us to become friends? Let’s honor her in that way. And — and let’s spare liesl from having to pick out her last outfit. You’re right. Let’s do this. For britt. Packing up britt’s office is not something that needs to happen right now. Well, on the contrary, it can’t wait. Do you want me to call scott? No, he’s busy taking care of the arrangements, dealing with the press, attending to all the details. The least I can do is collect britta’s things and keep them safe. Even if I couldn’t keep my own daughter safe. Someone had to look out for our daughter. Protect her from all those people out there trying to destroy her. And no offense, lover, but you’re not exactly the man you used to be. Stuck in the chair like that. And you still can’t seem to hook the right fish. I never said I was perfect! And…when you bat .300 in baseball, even if they’re not all home runs, you still get into the hall of fame. That’s me. Besides, I’m gonna make it right this time. How about you make it right, now? Like, how, oh, so wise one? Confess. So our daughter can go free.

[ Recorder beeps ] Is that really necessary? I’ve already admitted that esme’s carrying my baby. What happened there? Esme and spencer break up, and — and you what? You’re just there to pick up the pieces? I’m not a predator, if that’s what you’re saying. Okay, when’s the last time you saw esme? Must have been trina’s trial. Did you know she was pregnant at the time? Of course not. So when did you find out? Like, before or after she allegedly went on the run? Where are you going with this? Where am I going with this?

[ Mumbles ] The problem I’m having is if esme’s the killer, sure, I can see her getting the drop on diane. Maybe, maybe she nicks britt with the hook dipped in venom. But I don’t see her taking down a military veteran like brando or a cop — cabrera. Especially if she’s seven months pregnant. What are you saying? I’m saying if esme is the killer, I think she’s getting help. My memory begins when I woke up in this hospital bed. I mean, being pregnant? How far along? Seven months. You really don’t remember how this happened? Or who the father is? I’m sorry, but no. The… the police say that I’ve done terrible things, but I-I-I don’t remember any of it. I mean, revenge porn? I-I don’t even remember my own name or — or what i like for breakfast! All right. It’s okay. I think I know someone who can help you.

[ Sighs deeply ]

[ Knock on door ]

[ Door opens ] Hello. Wait. I… I know you. I-I-I remember that face. But… I know who you are.

It’s empty. So is the closet. Okay. Thank you. Thank you so much for the info. All right. So, apparently britt had some of her things shipped on her birthday, I’m guessing, to wherever she was going on vacation. Her entire wardrobe? The front desk also said that she arranged to have a bunch of her clothes delivered to G.H. Charities. It’s almost like britt knew she wasn’t coming back. No, no, no way. She had just thrown herself this huge birthday party. Yeah. Yeah. But why have us plan it and insist that we become friends? When we’re so obviously not. Yeah, but the point is, britt wanted us to be. It was really important to her. It’s almost like she knew we would need each other. Wait. Her will. She said she’d just written one and was leaving everything to me. I mean, who — who does that at her age? And then plans a vacation out of nowhere? Not to mention her giving cody the heave-ho. It’s like she was burning all of her bridges. Yeah, but why? And why couldn’t she share that with me? We were friends. Best friends, but… I guess I never really knew britt at all. Okay. All right. I want you to sit, both of you. Why? Because… I know something that you two don’T. But you should. I promise you, no one will take anything that’s in here without checking with me first. Okay? And I-I’ll make sure that everything that belongs to the hospital is returned and that everything that belonged to britt will get to you. Thank you, austin. And thank you for your birthdaypresent for britta. It meant so much to her. Seeing that photo montage of britta and the people in her life — that was proof. It was proof that her life was worthwhile. I think every life is worthwhile. My britta was loved, wasn’t she? Yes, she was. Of course. She really was. Love, real love was in short supply when britta was growing up. I wonder if she ever knew how much she was loved when she saw those faces on the screen. I don’t think we’re ever really gonna know for sure. But I’m gonna choose to believe that it changed her mind. About what? About leaving town for good. What do you mean, for good? She was just going on a vacation. That’s what she wanted everyone to believe. Yeah. She was going away to die, wasn’t she? Esme, this is dr. Kevin collins. Doctor, um, yes, tha– that’s right. I-I remember that you’re a doctor now. Um, but that name. What did you say your name was again? Kevin collins. And what kind of doctor are you? I’m a psychiatrist. Do you know what that means? I lost my memory. I’m not stupid.

[ Chuckles ] You’re a shrink. Are you here to pick my brain? I’m here to listen. Nurse baldwin. Uh, uh, that’s your name? Baldwin? Elizabeth baldwin. I’ll be in the hallway if you need me. May I? So, esme. Is there anything that you’d like to ask me or anything you’d like to tell me? You have a very trustworthy face. And a familiar one, apparently. It’s like… I know you, but… …I-it’s just outside of my reach and I can’t put my finger on it. Have we met before? Actually, our paths have crossed. I’m related to spencer by marriage. Who’s spencer? Well, maybe you remember his father, nikolas cassadine? I’m sorry, but, no, it doesn’t ring a bell. Anyone else we would have had in common? As a matter of fact, yes. You know my twin brother, ryan. So that’s your plan? Throw me to the wolves? Look, the next time I hook another target, the cops are gonna realize that our daughter is innocent. That’s a vast oversimplification of a complex problem. Not if you do it right. Ouch! Ow! What happened to you? Let’s just say I took one for the team last night. Are you badly hurt? Oh. Like you care.

[ Groans ] It’s — it’s not like I don’t share your motivation. It’s, uh… it’s your methods I have an issue with. Oh. That’s the thanks I get? You do your very best for your child. You give her your whole heart and soul. And when it turns out that not only is she wanted for murder, but she’s also become public enemy number one, I did what every good mother would do, and I tried to set things right. Trust me, our daughter will thank me. Not if the rest of our family has to pay a price. What are you blathering about now? Are you suggesting that I’m esme’s accomplice? I’m suggesting that, uh, esme’s the key, whether or not she’s a killer. I don’t follow. You don’t follow? Well, she’s seven months pregnant. I’m right on that, right? Okay. So how does she go from hiding to on the run to maybe killing people, maybe not killing people all by herself? Someone’s looking out for her. Someone’s helping her. And who would have more reason to do that than the father of her baby?

I love the calathea. But what I love most of all is your thoughtfulness. And I didn’t think I could love you any more.

[ Laughs ] Well, you are welcome. And I love you so much, baby. It feels like, um… ever since trina was arrested, I can’t stop thinking about all the bad things. And our family, we’ve been through a lot over the past year, right? Um, but I feel like we’ve come through it stronger. Trina was acquitted. You and your father — your relationship is better than ever. And aunt stella, she accepted me.

[ Both laugh ] Thank goodness. Right? Yeah. No, um… things are going good with trina and me. You know she told me she loved me the other day? She did? Oh, my god, honey. That was a major, major accomplishment. Yeah. It is. Oh, my god. In a few weeks, I am gonna walk down the aisle and I am gonna be your wife. And, honey, I can’t wait. Mm. If you think about it, you and britt had a lot in common. I’m not at all surprised you two hit it off. Yeah, um… yeah, we had a connection. But, um… I wasn’t straight with her. Britt had something that I wanted and I thought that I could ma– [ Sighs ] You know, it doesn’t really matter what I thought. Truth is, I used her until she caught on and then rightfully kicked me to the curb, which was a smart decision on her part. Except now she’ll never know. Brit will never know what? Um, that I learned too late, that all I really wanted was her. For some time, britt knew that she had a ticking bomb inside her. What does that mean? Well, it means that she inherited something from her father. Britt had huntington’s disease. Oh, my god. When I was working at G.H., I saw people with huntington’S. It took a terrible toll on their lives. Well, why didn’t britt tell us? Why — why’d she face this alone? No. Well, she wasn’t alone. She wasn’T. She had her mom, and scott knew. Yeah, but why wouldn’t she tell me o-or brad? Well, she didn’t actually tell me. It was aunt liesl. And aunt liesl told me when she — she was just overwhelmed with everything that britt was facing. She had to talk to someone. Wait a minute. Austin knew, too, didn’t he? The birthday gift he gave her? The photos of her life? That’s why he did it. Yeah. Seeing all the people that she loves gave her courage.

[ Sniffles ] At my worst moment when the baby switch came out, britt didn’t walk away from me, and I never would have walked away from her.

[ Voice breaking ] I didn’t need her to be brave. I just need her in my life. I still do.

[ Exhales sharply ] We all do. Liesl, I’m really sorry that you have to hear this from me. I-I-I begged britt to open up to you, but she just [Sighs] She couldn’t, I guess. I don’t know. I mean, the only reason that I know that she was leaving town for good was I happened to catch her in a particularly vulnerable moment. You don’t understand. I’ve never been prouder of mein britta.

[ Exhales sharply ] You see, my relationship with britta was… complicated, to say the least. There were times she hated me and times that I felt she betrayed me. But somehow, despite all that, we — we found our way back together, not just as mother and daughter, but as good friends.

[ Laughs ] It’s just like her to spare the rest of us and sail off into the sunset alone. But you said she came back for us? Why? What changed her mind? You’re sure you don’t remember my twin brother? He’s kind of hard to forget. Is he as kind as you are, doctor?

[ Chuckles ] Well, I guess you could say he’s being kind at the moment because he has no other choice. You actually used to take care of him. I did. Was I a nurse? Mm. No. You, uh — you had an internship. Elizabeth: The patient is in with dr. Collins. Not for long. Martin? I’m in the middle of counseling a patient. Yeah, well, that’s the problem. One man’s counseling is another man’s third degree. I’m afraid I have to ask you to cease and desist immediately. On whose authority? By the authority of the superior court of port charles county. This poor, unfortunate soul may be your patient, but as of… one hour and 15 minutes ago, she’s my client.

Can I, uh, leave it to you two to…

[Voice breaking] Try to find something for britt to wear? Absolutely. Don’t worry about it. We’ve got it under — under control. Okay. I’m counting on you. You’re strong. I love you. I love you. What do we do now? I was kinda hoping you could tell me. Austin: Liesl, you’re a doctor. I’m a doctor. And we know better than most that every life ends. So i t’s how you chooseto live your life that matters. And if britt knew that huntington’s was bringing her close to the end, let’s consider her last week. She delivered a breach baby on christmas eve. She threw an epic party surrounded by people who loved her. People she loved. Affection. Support. Love. And her final act was to save someone’s life. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly sad that she’s gone. I am. But if you have to exit this world, that is a pretty badass way to go. I, uh… I appreciate your kind words, austin, I-I do. But… my daughter is gone. Ryan: Oh, that’s rich. You spend a lifetime ignoring that esme even exists, and now you’re what — joan crawford? Joan crawford? I like wire hangers. But what’s this you’re saying about the rest of our family? Wouldn’t you like to know? Ryan, don’t push me. Is something the matter with our baby girl?

[ Inhales sharply ] Well, that depends. Do you knit? I mean, not big things. Just, like, little baby booties and things? I mean, the little one could probably use protection from the cold winter wind. Are you saying — yes. Our baby… is having a baby.

[ Gasps ] I’m not gonna sit here while you go on a fishing expedition. All right. Well, uh… I have a feeling I’m gonna have to ask you more questions at some point, so don’t leave town. You know what I think… what’s that? …Detective falconeri? Mm-hmm? I think you got nothing. And if I got nothing, why are you getting so angry? Okay. Hello, esme. My name is martin grey, and I am your attorney. Try not to hate me. I was assigned by judge holloway. Um, I have no idea if I have any money or any way to pay you. Oh, no, no, that’s okay. This is a pro bono case. That means, as far as you’re concerned, it’s absolutely free. The only thing you have to do is exactly what I tell you. Starting with do not talk to anyone. Not even the doctors? Especially the doctors. Just doing my job. Far be it from me to argue with a judge.

[ Monitor beeping ] Okay, my young friend. First order of business is probably to get you to eat something. Even if it is hospital food. Uh, nurse baldwin, if you don’t mind, I think I’d like to confer with my client in private. If that’s okay? Oh, oh, please don’t make her go. She’s been so good to me. Young lady , for the time being, the only person in this town that’s good to you is yours truly. Everyone is being so sketchy about what I’ve done. Acting like it’s not this revenge porn thing. You’ve done nothing until proven guilty. Guilty of what? Well, ms. Prince, it’s murder in the first degree.

I can’t believe it! I’m gonna be a grandmother! Franco never had kids of his own. Neither did steven and lars. This is my first grandbaby. Maybe it’s not too late to have a family of our own. There could even be a place for ava. Oh! Dare to dream! But a baby? This is so exciting. I — I’m gonna make up for lost time and be there when that baby’s born. Right there in the room to support my baby girl. You do know that’s impossible, right? I’ll just speed up the timeline. Now you’re talking. Allow me to help. Talk about impossible. Just let mama bear finish the work that she’s begun. And papa bear will sit tight until baby bear and lil baby bear in the oven are free. I need to prepare. When do you plan to attack? The minute that my friendly guard is back on duty. Don’t worry. Mama will take care of everything. Kevin. I thought you’d still be interviewing esme. Session was cut short when her lawyer showed up. Wow. Anyone I know? Martin grey. Martin grey? Wow! For someone who showed up with nothing, not even her memory, esme sure has friends in high places. About esme’s memory. You think she’s faking it? I don’t understand. What’s wrong with her? Should we call for her doctor? I got this. Would you step out and give me a minute? Gladly. Thanks for nothing, judge holloway. Who do I gotta bribe to get off of this? I swear it wasn’t even my turn in the rotation. Don’t blame the judge. It wasn’t his doing. Oh, my god. It was you, wasn’t it? What’d you do? Pull some strings to get me assigned to this crazy case? I did. Why? Because esme is carrying my baby. Who better to trust with her case than family? Esme, if you’re faking, I’ll know. So don’t even try. You know, when my marriage ended with jordan… mm. …I never thought I’d get married again. In fact, I was so down on the institution altogether. But even though living with you has been a joy, I just want to make everything official. I’m so excited to take these vows and become your husband. I wasn’t gonna tell you this. Oh. No, no, it’s okay. But, um, I was at wyndham’s the other day. Yeah? And I saw these little towels, and they have a little “his and hers” on them. And I almost got it, but I was like, no, no, no, no. It’s just too cheesy. That’s not cheesy. I think you should have bought them.

[ Chuckles ] Look, I don’t care if they said his or hers, or husband and wife. I want whoever comes into our house to know how absolutely proud we are to be each other’s significant other. Okay. I’m gonna go buy those towels. Go buy those towels. Go buy the towels. Come here, baby.

All that’s left is an empty hotel room. God, she must have felt so alone and so scared.

[ Exhales sharply ] If I only knew. Hey, you heard nina. It’s the way britt wanted it. I don’t care what she wanted! I want her, the one and only britch, my best friend in this whole lousy and messed-up world! And now she’s just gone, just like that. Without so much as a goodbye! And now I’m the one left all alone to go shopping for this stupid funeral get-up.

[ Breathing heavily ] You know what? Don’t worry about it. I’ve got it handled. This is gonna be britt’s last look ever.

[ Sniffles ] I’m not letting you choose some boring dress at wyndham’S. Well, if you think I’m letting you dress her in some fast fashion trash, you’ve got another thing coming.

[ Sighs ] Come on, maxie. She needs something with style and — and impact. Maxie: Style? Yes! I would like to spend some more time observing esme and consult with the neurologist that dr. Ashford brought in. But my initial assessment… is that esme has suffered significant memory loss. Permanent? No way to tell. But if so, we may never know where she’s been or who’s been taking care of her. Well, at seven months pregnant, esme was in no condition to be able to take out an officer or kill britt westbourne on the pier last night. So the more pressing question is, who really is the hook killer? I don’t believe that britt’s murderer will go unpunished. I don’t know if you know this, but the police have a suspect, here in G.H. Under guard 24/7. All I remember is waking up in here. I-I haven’t killed anyone. I couldn’t! You do believe me, don’t you? It’s okay. The best thing you can do for yourself is just rest. Nurse baldwin. Yes? You do believe me, right? Nikolas, my priority is finding lucy. I haven’t got time for this. Hey, you may have been assigned the case pro bono, but I will double your normal fee. The mother of my child, she must be kept safe, not hounded by the police until she gives birth. And then what? Triple your normal fee.

[ Scoffs ] Deal. Esme is in good hands with uncle martin. I am so happy we had this little talk. I will just find another hook, and then we are back in business. Uh, what happened to the first hook? Ugh, it got snagged. But don’t worry. There’s no way they could trace it back to me. Just let me do what I do best. And you just look forward to the happy day when we’re all reunited as a family. The three of us! You miscounted by two. There’s ava…

[ Scoffs ] …And… oh, and the little baby bear in the oven makes five. That’s it. I always knew you were a softy. Hey. Grandpa. All right.

[ Door closes ]

[ Monitor beeping ] Thank you, felicia, for coming out here in person to break the news about britt. Thank mac. It was his idea. He would have come himself if he wasn’t so busy on the case.

[ Voice breaking ] Can I hug you? Yeah. Okay.

[ Sighs ] Okay. All right.

[ Door opens, closes ] Hey. Aunt liesl, I got your text. Aunt liesl! I can’t sleep. Can you give me some thing stronger? Yes. That can be arranged.

Sally: I know this is last-minute, but I really need to see the doctor right away. Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be there. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. I’ll see you soon.

[ Sighs ]

Adam: Is everything okay?

[ Mug thuds ]

Abby: Good morning.

Devon: Hey.

Abby: Hi.

Devon: Good morning, pretty lady.

Abby: Ooh.

Devon: I got you some coffee.

Abby: Thank you.

Devon: You’re very welcome. I had the, uh, nanny take dominic down to the kiddie gym so he can get his steps in for the day.

Abby: Oh, you should have woken me up. I love watching him play there. He loves that big green ball.

Devon: Yeah, he does.

Abby: [ Laughs ]

Devon: I know. It’s very cute. I like when he walks around on those little padded mats until he tumbles over.

Abby: Yeah. Well, we should go together sometime.

Devon: Yeah, we will. Just thought you’d like to sleep in this morning since you probably never get to.

Abby: Thank you.

Devon: Yeah. How you feeling?

Abby: About last night?

Devon: Yes.

Abby: Um…good. Yeah, um… I mean, I guess I have to admit that I felt a little hint of guilt when I was walking down those stairs.

Devon: Well, we weren’t betraying anybody this time.

Abby: I know. It’s just, my divorce is so fresh, and…I mean, this is brand-new.

Devon: Yeah.

Abby: But when I look at you and I hear you talk about dominic… I know I’m in the right place. I feel happier and lighter than I have in a long time.

Devon: Well, I’m very happy to hear that ’cause I feel the exact same way.

Abby: [ Inhales deeply ]

Lily: Jill, I’m very excited. This is definitely the right move.

[ Chuckles ] Okay. Well, I will let devon and audra know, and I will chat with you later. Bye.

Audra: Sounds like good news.

Lily: Yep. Jill pulled the trigger. Moving forward with the ipo.

Audra: Excellent. We are back on track.

Lily: Yes. This is a huge step.

Audra: It certainly is. This is gonna be a huge success for all of us in unimaginable ways.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Kyle: I appreciate your dedication to the job, but there’s really no reason for you to be here. Maybe you should take a leave of absence until we’ve dealt with stark.

Diane: There is no place I’d rather be. I refuse to let him ruin every aspect of my amazing new life. Oh, good morning, summer.

Summer: Hi. We need to talk.

Ashley: Where are you going?

Jack: Upstairs. I need to get ready for work.

Ashley: Mm-hmm. You gonna ignore me like you did last night?

Jack: I didn’t ignore you.

Ashley: Yeah, you did. I wanted to talk to you about you and diane kissing, and you just kind of blew me off.

Jack: I didn’t have the time or the energy for it. The truth is, I don’t now. If you’ll excuse me…

Ashley: Please —

Jack: …I need to get to the office.

Ashley: Please don’t go anywhere until we have a chance to speak. Please?

Jack: It doesn’t make any sense, ash. I do not understand your continued vendetta against diana.

Ashley: And I don’t understand your complete denial of her history.

Jack: Yes, she has a past. We all do. But since she’s gotten back to genoa city, she has done nothing to you.

Ashley: That’s true, but only because she hasn’t been given the opportunity. If she found out she had leverage over me, she would not hesitate to use it.

Jack: That is absolutely absurd.

Ashley: Okay. Look, I am trying here, alright? I really am. And I’ve decided that i understand that you would want your son to reconnect with his mother.

Jack: Yes.

Ashley: Okay. I get that. But you have let diane back into your life, jack. And from what I saw right here last night, she’s in far too deep.

Jack: I don’t know what you think you saw, but it’s really none of your business. Whether you like it or not, diane is part of this family.

Ashley: No, I don’t like it! And as far as I’m concerned, she’s not part of this family.

Jack: She is kyle’s mother. She is harrison’s grandmother.

Ashley: I know. I just can’t get the image out of my mind of your son as a little boy crying himself to sleep because he thought his mother was dead.

Jack: Diane has changed. Kyle has forgiven her. As far as I’m concerned, that makes her welcome in our home.

Ashley: I can’t forgive her. I can’t forgive her. Does that make me a bad person? I don’t think so. I don’T. Given the pain she’s caused this family, I think that viper deserves permanent exile from this house.

Jack: Wow. Isn’t it ironic that you, of all people, are opposed to a viper coming into this house?

Devon: I do need to get to the office soon, but what do you have going on today?

Abby: Well, I have to meet noah at his club.

Devon: Yeah?

Abby: But first I have to go home and change because I can’t be seen in the same outfit two days in a row.

Devon: That’s very true. You’ll have the whole town talking about it. It would be shameful.

Abby: Well, I don’t know if it would be shameful, but i think people would think it was very weird.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Abby: So, yes, that means i have to go home.

Devon: Is there a problem with going home?

Abby: It doesn’t feel like home. I mean, it’s the chancellor mansion. I’m no longer a chancellor. I feel like I’m an intruder.

Devon: Yeah. No, I get that. I do. There’s a lot of changes happening right now. It’s gonna take a minute for people to adjust to it. That’s all. I think as long as we focus on dominic, though, and make sure that this transition is as painless as possible for him, we’ll be alright.

Abby: Yeah. I couldn’t agree more.

Devon: Yeah, but you can take things slow. Just decide what’s best for you and dominic and take one step at a time. You don’t have to rush into any of this.

Sally: What do you mean, “is everything okay?”

Adam: I don’t know where the confusion lies. Those are three pretty simple words.

Sally: Were you listening in on my call? ‘Cause I thought we came to the understanding that you were gonna butt out of my business. So, how much did you overhear?

Adam: I didn’t hear a word. I saw you huddled over here. It seemed like you were hiding from someone. Were you?

Sally: No. I just wanted some privacy.

Adam: Here at crimson lights? Yeah, sure. I mean, no one ever comes here, except the entire town.

Sally: Okay, well, I just needed my tea. I needed to make a call. My tea had the priority. So, you know, why don’t you just mind your own business?

Adam: Okay. Just worried about you, sally. You look tense and a little tired.

Sally: [ Scoffs ] Well, I didn’t ask for your opinion of my appearance.

Adam: Are you sure that you don’t need a sympathetic ear? I mean, maybe you would feel better if you told me what was keeping you up at night. What?

Sally: Don’t you really want to ask who is keeping me up at night?

Adam: I didn’t mean anything by it. And I’m certainly not asking who you’re sleeping with.

Sally: I don’t believe you.

Adam: Look, you said that we’re done. So we’re done. I get it. We’re both moving on from our halcyon days at newman media. Although I will always remember them fondly.

Sally: [ Inhales deeply ]

[ Clears throat ] You want to know what is keeping me up at night? It’s the idea of launching my own business. Starting from scratch is anxiety-inducing.

Adam: Yeah. It is. But I can’t wait to see what you come up with next. I know I could use some help with some interior design, so i can’t wait for you and chloe to open your doors.

Sally: Thank you.

Adam: Mm-hmm. I know whatever you put your mind to, it will be a success.

Sally: What are you up to?

Adam: What do you mean?

Sally: Well, you’re just being so nice and laying it on a little thick, even though that’s not really like you. So, what do you after?

Adam: [ Sighs ] Nothing. I’m sorry that I interrupted your morning, okay? I’ll be on my way.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Adam. Adam, wait. Look, I’m sorry, okay? I forget sometimes that you can be nice just to be nice.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Well, I have given you a lot of reasons to doubt my intentions.

Sally: Yeah. Well, we’ve been very civil lately, and I don’t want to lose that connection just because I’m in a mood this morning.

Adam: Well, you’re entitled to be in a mood whenever you want.

Sally: Yes, I know, but i shouldn’t take it out on you when you haven’t done anything wrong. I just have a lot on my plate right now. You know? Maybe a little too much.

Daniel: [ Sighs ]

[ Cellphone vibrating ]

[ Cellphone thuds ]

[ Sniffs, clears throat ]

Abby: Daniel?

Daniel: Abby.

Abby: Hi.

Daniel: God, don’t you look terrific.

Abby: Oh, my gosh! Thank you so much. Ah! It’s so good to see you. I heard you were back in town.

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, I’m glad we ran into each other.

Abby: Yeah. Um, well, I’m supposed to meet noah, but I don’t see him, so maybe we could catch up if you’re not too busy?

Daniel: No. Yeah. No, not at all. And at this moment, I would actually welcome the intrusion. So, please have a seat.

Abby: Thanks.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Abby: So, I heard you’re working for chancellor-winters. How great is that?

Daniel: Yeah. Uh, I thought it was pretty impressive. But I guess it’s just a job, right?

Abby: Come on. It’s a huge responsibility. And you’re so creative. You’re gonna be terrific.

Daniel: Thank you. I am looking forward to just jumping into the deep end.

Abby: So, where are you saying?

Daniel: Downstairs, at the hotel.

Abby: You, heather, and lucy in a hotel indefinitely?

Daniel: Well, they aren’t with me right now.

Abby: Oh. When are they coming?

Daniel: You know, I can’t really answer that right now.

Lily: Okay, we definitely have to time this announcement properly because if we do it too early, then we risk losing momentum with the investors, or I think that we can open ourselves up to price manipulations.

Audra: Yeah, but too late, and we might not be able to generate any momentum at all.

Lily: Yeah.

Audra: I’ll run the numbers and find the optimal day to make the announcement.

Lily: I have no doubt that you will.

[ Laughs ]

Devon: Hello.

Lily: Hey.

Devon: Hey, hey. What do you guys seem excited about?

Lily: Well, jill is ready to move forward with the ipo. It’s happening.

[ Laughs ]

Devon: It’s happening. It’s happening without me having a say?

Lily: What are you talking about? You knew about this plan all along.

Devon: I knew about your plan. It’s not my plan.

[ Cellphone chimes ] What’s that?

Audra: Oh, it’s just, um, a text. Sorry. I will mute it. I’m actually gonna step outside and give you two the room.

Lily: Devon, you knew this ipo was happening all along. I mean, this is not some secret meeting that jill and I had. We had a call scheduled, and we chatted about it and decided this is what’s best for the company.

Devon: Yeah, but you made that decision without me.

Lily: No one is trying to exclude you. So, look, if you want, call jill and ask her some questions. But I’m sorry. I’ve heard your argument about keeping the company private, and I don’t agree. I don’t understand why you want to limit the growth and success of chancellor-winters.

Kyle: Sorry we’re late. I wanted to take my mother to breakfast someplace off the beaten path where we wouldn’t have to worry about stark seeing us before I came in, and she insisted on coming into the office, too.

Diane: What can I say? I love my job.

Kyle: So, uh, what did you want to talk about?

Summer: You know what? It was, uh, nothing urgent. Mariah just wanted me to remind you about that, uh, personal time that she’s taking off.

Kyle: Oh, right. Uh, she and tessa are traveling to meet a potential birth mother.

Diane: Ah, that is so wonderful. They must be so excited. I’m sure they are going to make amazing mothers.

Summer: You barely even know them.

Diane: But we work together. And I saw how special their bond was at tessa’s photo shoot.

Summer: I have to pull some files from jack’s office. Excuse me.

[ Cellphone vibrating ]

Diane: Hello, jeremy. Why give your family just any eggs

Diane: Why don’t I make the arrangements, and then I’ll text you the time and place? Okay. See you soon.

Kyle: What did he want?

Diane: He wants to meet tonight.

Kyle: So, is this how it’s gonna be? You’re at his beck and call like a servant?

Diane: Kyle, we discussed this. I’m the one who’s working him. This is all part of my plan.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] I need to tell dad.

Diane: No, no, no. I appreciate your concern, but, please, I don’t want jack following me like he did last time. I can do this on my own.

Abby: I heard you were in town, and I just assumed that heather and lucy were with you. I’m — I’m sorry.

Daniel: There’s no need for you to apologize. It’s just uncertain when they’ll get here.

Abby: Yeah, I’m sure they’re busy with work and school. But, hey, in the meantime, if you want to meet the happiest baby in the world, I would love to introduce you to dominic.

Daniel: Well, I’d love to meet him. I miss that age, you know? It goes by too quickly.

Abby: It’s the best. You know, he’s not even 2 yet, and I find myself feeling nostalgic about things he did last year. But, um, maybe it’s more than just dominic. I don’t know if you heard, but, um, chance and I — we split up.

Daniel: Oh. No. I’m sorry.

Abby: Yeah, we tried to make it work, but I guess it was just inevitable. So now I am trying to just appreciate the time that we had together and just move forward.

Daniel: Speaking of moving forward, um, I actually have to meet with lily.

Abby: Oh.

Daniel: I’m really glad we ran into each other. You know, we’re gonna have to get together soon, catch up a little bit more. And I’d love to meet dominic. Um…you have an amazing day.

Abby: You too. Bye.

[ Sighs ]

Ashley: What do you have to say, jack? Just spit it out.

Jack: Oh, I think you know. I didn’t imagine you and tucker kissing outside the front door

Ashley: Oh, so what? You have no idea what’s going on with tucker and me.

Jack: And you have no idea what’s going on with diane because you’ve made no effort to understand her. You and your allies have been small and petty and mean, and your hatred for her has no foundation.

Ashley: I disagree. If there’s anything in the known universe that has a foundation, it’s my hatred for diane. Sorry.

Jack: No, you hate the old diane. She has changed.

Ashley: “Changed.”

Jack: I have been trying to tell you this for months.

Ashley: Okay, just settle down, alright? When has diane ever been overtly evil? Not often, right? I mean, she’s subtle. She’s charming. She can act like she’s your best friend and then turn around and kick your legs out from under you. She’s sneaky and manipulative, and she hasn’t changed, jack. For whatever reason, you have bought this “poor, helpless me” routine of hers. And the one thing you know — diane has never been and will never be helpless.

Audra: What do you want?

Tucker: I want to know when or if this chancellor-winters ipo is actually gonna happen. Snails move faster than this public offering.

Audra: Don’t blame me for that.

Tucker: Who else is responsible? I literally gave you one job.

Audra: So let me do it. Okay? I was in the middle of a meeting about it when you texted me, demanding I come see you right away.

Tucker: Alright. Then how’s it going?

Audra: Jill and lily — you know, they want to get the ball rolling, but your son, devon, seems determined to fight them on it.

Tucker: Okay, so, you —

[ Sighs ] Then you convince him that it’s a good idea.

Audra: I’m not sure I can. You know, everything that happened with nate has made him paranoid, and you and I both know he’s right.

Tucker: No, he’s not! What I am doing is in his best interest.

Audra: Okay, then —

Tucker: No, audra. I am going to work side by side with my son. That’s all I want. Do you understand that?

Audra: Then maybe you take his frame of mind into account and come up with another way to make that happen. In the meantime, I’m gonna get back to that office, you know, before devon and lily get suspicious about why their ipo expert decided to disappear in the middle of an important conversation!

[ Door slams ]

Devon: Lily, you know that I’ve never supported this ipo move — because we’d be giving up too much autonomy. The whole reason that we merged our companies together is so we can run a corporation as a family. And if we go public, yeah, we’re gonna be making more money, but we’re not gonna be able to be making the decisions that matter for our company. And that’s not worth it to me.

Lily: Devon, if we sell stock, we could double or triple our valuation.

Devon: The company is doing fine. We’re making money, okay? That’s not the most important thing. And, yes, I know nate is gone, but what he almost put us through is exactly the kind of thing that can happen to companies when they go public. So, what happened to us taking time and waiting to make this decision?

Lily: Because sooner is better, and jill and I want to move forward with this. And her vote is equal to both of ours. And I agree with her. So, I’m sorry, but she and i have the majority.

Devon: Is that right? Well, then why even ask my opinion in the first place? Hell.

Lily: Look, if you can provide some legitimate reason as to why you want to stop this, then we will listen. But right now, all you have is some general vague concern. And I’m sorry, but it’s not enough.

Devon: It’s not vague. It’s not vague. And I’m never gonna support this move. It’s as simple as that.

Lily: Nothing about this is simple, okay? There are a lot of moving parts, and I really hope that I will have your support because i don’t have nate and I don’t have billy. But if I have to walk this path alone, then I will.

Devon: Cool. Then I guess I will be spending my time finding a legitimate reason to stop you from making this move.

Lily: Okay, well, you are welcome to it. But I actually have a lot of work I have to get done.

[ Sighs ]

[ Pen clatters ]

Adam: Come on. I’m a good listener. You can tell me anything, whatever’s on your mind.

Sally: I would love to. But I’m just not sure.

Adam: What does that mean? What exactly aren’t you sure about?

Sally: Anything. You know, at this moment, I’m — I’m just not sure about anything. It just always seems like things are so difficult for me. And, yeah, maybe that’s my own fault and I create my own problems, but — I don’t know — once, just once I would love for things to be cut and dried. You know, “here’s a problem? “Oh, yeah. There’s an easy solution.”

Adam: Well, I can’t pretend to know what you’re talking about, but I think I’ve seen you in enough difficult situations to know that you’ll figure it out. You know? I’m sorry that you’re feeling overwhelmed. You really do deserve a break. But by the same token, you can handle anything.

Sally: Why are you being so nice to me?

Adam: I think you know. When a cold comes on strong,

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Meet febreze’s miracle spray:

Sally: I have no idea why you’re being so nice to me. What is your angle?

Adam: Sally, there’s no angle.

Sally: Okay, then what did you mean by “you should know”? What is it that I’m supposed to know?

Adam: [ Sighs ] All I meant was you will always be very special to me. We have a connection.

Sally: That’s it? For real?

Adam: Yes. What more could there be? And I meant what I said by having a sympathetic ear. It wasn’t that long ago that you and I — we could discuss anything. So, if you ever need anyone to talk to you, just give me a call.

Sally: Okay. Yeah, I’ll think about that. Oh, I — I have to go to this appointment. Adam. Thank you.

Kyle: I know this is part of your plan, but I don’t like the idea of you going on a date with a criminal like stark.

Diane: It’s not a date.

Kyle: Okay, well, whatever you want to call this meeting. Dad and I should be close by, just in case. You know, in fact, at the risk of sounding overprotective, dad and I should be dealing with this, not you.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Look, I can take care of myself. I am as tough and wily as people have accused me of being. I just don’t have to use those skills as much these days, but i haven’t lost my touch. Believe me, I’ve got this under control.

Devon: Hey, man. Is abby here yet? No? Thank you.

Tucker: Hey. Devon.

Devon: Hey.

Tucker: How are you?

Devon: Alright. How you doing, man?

Tucker: Were you taking your phone out to call me to invite me to breakfast?

Devon: [ Chuckling ] Yeah. Yes, I was. How’d you guess? Beat me to it.

Tucker: You okay? You seem like you’re carrying some stress.

Devon: Oh, yeah? Well, that’s, uh — that’s a good eye you got. I’m just, uh, dealing with this ipo thing at work. It’s got me reconsidering the chancellor-winters merger altogether. That’s all.

Tucker: Oh. Well, sit down. Sit down.

Devon: Sure.

Tucker: So, what’s going on? What’s the problem?

Devon: Uh… I don’t really want to get into it too deep with you, but, um, I just — I lost some autonomy in the merger, and I’m set to lose even more the way things are headed.

Tucker: Right.

Devon: I’ll be lucky to have a say my own company.

Tucker: Yeah. I know that feeling. ‘Cause you want to grow the company, but you have to give up some control to do it, right?

Devon: Absolutely.

Tucker: Yeah. Which doesn’t seem quite fair in this instance because you and neil built it.

Devon: Yeah. Yeah. That’s exactly how I feel.

Tucker: Well, if it’s such a concern for you, maybe you should consider taking hamilton-winters back from chancellor and run the business on your own again. I know somebody who could help you. Okay everyone, our mission is complete balanced nutrition.

Devon: Yeah, no, I said this before. I don’t want you getting involved with my business, tucker.

Tucker: No, no, no, no, no. Please don’t misinterpret me. I’m not trying to stick my nose where it doesn’t belong. You certainly have the resources to reacquire the company on your own. Uh, in fact, all you’d —

[ Sighs, chuckles ] Listen to me. I’m sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong. Sorry. I just want to help.

Devon: I know you do. I appreciate you wanting to help, but I’m not looking for advice on this.

Tucker: Understood. It’s just that I haven’t always been there for you, and since this is my area of expertise, i thought the least I could do is counsel you. But, you know, you’re an astute businessman in your own right. You don’t need to listen to other people. At the same time [Chuckles] This is the issue we’re discussing currently. You want autonomy and you want to be in control of your destiny. You should not be constricted by what other people want. At the same time, you need to realize it’s okay to go after what you want. And I just might be the guy to help you do that.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

Lily: Daniel. Hi.

Daniel: Hey. How are you doing? Um, I haven’t talked to you since new year’S.

Lily: Uh, I’m fine. Just, you know, been busy. Hoping 2023 will be a good year. How are you feeling?

Daniel: I’m great.

Lily: Are you sure?

Daniel: Yeah. I mean, you know, I couldn’t be better.

[ Chuckles ]

Lily: Okay. Come on. I saw your face when I first walked in, and then when you saw me, you kind of threw this big smile on.

Daniel: Maybe I was waiting for you to arrive to cheer me up.

Lily: Okay. What’s going on? What is it? Is it the press release?

Daniel: No. God, no. The press release is fantastic, but…

Lily: But what?

Daniel: It’s not important. You know, you have bigger concerns.

Lily: Oh, come on. Really? Not important? After everything that we’ve been through together, I mean, if you can’t trust me to tell me what’s going on, then who can you trust?

Daniel: I do trust you. I do. I just don’t want you to judge me.

Lily: Daniel, I would never do that.

Daniel: [ Inhales sharply ] Alright. Alright. Back in savannah, I made some mistakes. I didn’t respect heather as a strong woman who was capable of making her own decisions. Some of that trickled down to lucy, too. You can say there was a lot of jealousy and insecurity on my part.

Lily: That doesn’t sound like you.

Daniel: Well, I was going through a rough patch career-wise, and — [ Chuckles ] I mean, saying that I handled it badly is an understatement. And I — I pushed them away. And I’m genuinely ashamed about it. And here I am — I’m running around trying to hide it from everyone all the time while I’m just trying to get back on solid ground. But now you and devon — you’ve put me there. I mean, you have no idea how good it feels to be working on something worthwhile and lucrative. And — and it’s my hope that maybe this will show the two women in my life that I’m not a lost cause.

Jack: You know what? You believe what you want to believe.

Ashley: Well, I believe that you have brought diane’s “poor me” act.

Jack: It is not “poor me.” I have seen the fear in her eyes. She is genuinely afraid of what jeremy stark will do to her. I know you find that silly. I have sat with this man. I concur with her. He’s a dangerous man. So I have decided, yes, to protect my son’s mother, to protect my family.

Ashley: Okay, so, years ago, diane chose to double-cross a dangerous criminal, and now our family is in danger. Are you hearing this? And diane is now using the situation to embed herself into our family and into our home and into your bed. And maybe that’s the whole point of this.

Jack: If you are so indignant about who I entertain in my home, maybe you should stay elsewhere.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] Listen, I’m done settling. Because this is my secret.

Ashley: So, this is what it’s come to, huh? I’m being forced from the family home? I’m not giving an inch to diane. I belong here as much as you do. It’s my house, too.

Jack: No one’s throwing you out of the house. I’m just saying if diane’s presence here is so abhorrent —

Ashley: I am not being forced out because of your sick fixation on diane, jack. And you know what else? You might be ceo, but jabot belongs to me, too! And you wanted her to work there? I never got a vote. I’m laying it out there. Diane jenkins will never, ever be welcome in our home or in that company! Do you understand me?! Not ever.

Kyle: Hey. What’s wrong?

Summer: What do you mean?

Kyle: Well, it was pretty clear that when you said you wanted to talk, it wasn’t about mariah’s personal time. Given how frosty you were with my mom, I assumed it was about her.

Summer: It was.

Kyle: Well, we should discuss whatever it is that’s troubling you.

Summer: I agree.

[ Sighs ] Look, things are getting really tense around here. And with stark still out there as a constant threat, I’m scared. I need a break from genoa city.

Kyle: What are you — what are you talking about?

Summer: There’s a textile show in paris, and I think i should go.

Kyle: Yeah, th-that might be a good idea.

Summer: I want to take harrison with me.

Sally: [ Sighing ]

[ Sighs heavily ] What am I gonna do now?

Lily: Daniel, no one thinks that you’re a lost cause.

Daniel: Hmm. You didn’t see the look on heather and lucy’s faces when they left for europe. It’s gonna take a long time to fix my family life.

Lily: Well, you know what? I mean, there is nothing in your contract that says that you have to be in genoa city. You can work from anywhere. So, if you want, go back to savannah or join them in portugal. I mean, I think, you know, keeping your family together has to be your top priority.

Daniel: Yeah. No, of course. I mean, it’s — it’s my goal, but I feel like if I split my focus, I’m gonna wind up doing a half-assed job on both fronts. I got to do this the right way, one step at a time. Otherwise, I might never get any aspect of my life back on track.

Lily: Daniel, I’m so sorry.

Daniel: Mnh-mnh. No. No. Lily, please do not look at me like that.

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Daniel: It seems like everyone these days is looking at me that way, and, I mean, I’m getting better. I’m gonna be okay.

Lily: Okay. Just know that I’m here if you need anything, alright?

Daniel: I really appreciate it.

Lily: Okay.

Daniel: You have somewhere you need to be?

Lily: Um, yeah. I, uh — I have an appointment, so I have to go. Otherwise, I would chat all morning.

Daniel: You seem a little nervous. You expecting bad news or something? I mean, should I be the one who’s worried about you?

Lily: No, no, no. I’m fine, just, um, a little anxious, uh… but listen — I have enormous faith in you, okay? Otherwise, we would have never brought you on. And know that you are not a lost cause, okay? Bye.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Devon: Yeah, I’m definitely gonna take some time and think about what you said. I’d still like to try and figure this all out on my own, though.

Tucker: Sure. That’s prudent.

Devon: You definitely do have a point. And I know you know what you’re talking about, so…

Tucker: Consider it.

Devon: I will. I will. I’m glad I, uh, ran into you.

Tucker: Yeah, me too, son.

Devon: Appreciate the insight.

Tucker: Oh, of course. Anytime.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Devon: That’s a unique chime.

Tucker: Yeah, I know. It came with the phone.

Devon: Did it?

Tucker: Please stay in touch, huh?

Devon: Yeah, I sure will.

Tucker: Okay. See you.

Devon: Hey. I need you to find out as much information as you can about a connection between tucker mccall and audra charles. Alright. Thank you.

[ Dramatic music ]

Sheila: And here I thought no one cared, and the woman that raised my son is checking up on me.

Li: I came to see you in the cage where you belong.

Sheila: Might not be five star. Could use an omelet station, but then, strong women like us we can handle a little temporary discomfort. In a cell for a few days, on the streets for a few weeks.

Li: You and I have nothing in common, sheila. That’s why I’m going to spend the rest of my life loving finn and hayes and you are going to spend the rest of your life behind bars.

Finn: Hey.

Steffy: Hey.

Finn: Are you okay?

Steffy: Uh…

Finn: What– what happened? I thought you’d call me on your way home.

Steffy: Yeah, I needed the drive to think.

Finn: So what– what happened? Did bill come to his senses? Did you get through to him?

Steffy: No.

Finn: What? Bill can’t possibly still be defending sheila.

Bill: Now, you’re going to be in jail for a bit. That’s a necessary step. I will then do everything in my power to get you out.

Sheila: You don’t know how much I’m counting on that. Oh, just get me out soon. I love you so much, bill. And don’t forget what this represents to you. The power. You take no prisoners. You win at all costs.

I’m yours for life.

[ Door unlatching ]

Katie: Oh, bill. Thank god! I’ve been calling you and calling you. I’ve texted. You haven’t gotten back to me. I just– I– I can’t believe what’s happened. Sheila has finally been caught and it’s all because of you.

Li: You’re even more delusional if you’re smiling at rotting away in here for the rest of your life.

Sheila: I’m sorry. Who’s delusional?

Li: This bravado may impress the criminals you’re locked up with, but it doesn’t work with me. I know you can be scared, sheila. I’ve seen it.

Sheila: Do I look scared to you?

Li: You think this is a game?

Sheila: No, I don’T. But if it is, it’s one that I am going to win in the end.

Katie: Are you okay after sheila was here?

Bill: I didn’t realize you were still concerned about me.

Katie: Of course I am. You caught sheila and– and turned her in. I– I mean, how did this happen? Did you trick her somehow? Lure her to the house?

Bill: She, uh– she showed up here. I called the police and that’s all.

[ Katie sighing ]

Katie: That’s all? That’s incredible. So brave. We’re all so grateful, bill. Everyone. Brooke. I mean, I’m sure that finn and– and steffy, they must be elated. But– but I still don’t understand how this happened. I mean, how did sheila end up here? And– and what did she want from you?

Finn: I don’t get it. Bill called the police. Sheila’s been arrested.

Steffy: Sheila’s locked up, but bill wants her out as soon as possible.

Finn: Well, then why turn her in?

Steffy: If not, then she’ll be on the run. This way, she’ll wind up free.

Finn: By blackmailing you. So, he’s still threatening to send your mom to prison for shooting him.

Steffy: Nothing made a difference. Bill is not backing down. If we testify against sheila, if she happens to stay locked up, my mom’s gonna end up in prison too.

Li: You may think you’re getting out of here, sheila, but that’s not happening.

Sheila: Such negative thinking.

Li: Your days of terrorizing my family are over. My son. My son… nearly died at your hands. I saved him, made sure he got home to his wife and children.

Sheila: I– I really don’t want to waste this visit with you arguing things.

Li: Because you know there’s no excuse for what you did. Inflicting violence and pain to those you claim to love? And then onto yourself so you can escape?

Sheila: If I really wanted to escape, I would have, but running away is only a temporary solution.

Li: No, this is a solution, sheila. You behind bars where you can’t hurt anyone else ever again. No more violence. No deception, no threats. You’ve done your worse to me, finn, steffy and her family, going all the way back to her mother and grandmother. How you attacked them and brooke logan too? What you did to them was disgusting, but it’s over. It’s all over. You will now pay for your crimes. All these traumas will be healed and forgotten one day. You see, I believe in right and wrong. I believe people like finn and hayes deserve a happy and free life. And people like you get what’s coming to them.

Sheila: This may surprise you, but I totally agree. I’m getting exactly what I deserve.

[ Katie sighing ]

Katie: Do you know how long it’ll take to prosecute sheila?

Bill: We’re not there yet.

Katie: Thank god she didn’t get away again.

Bill: Sheila’s days of running could finally be over.

Katie: Thank god. That woman has done nothing but cause our families pain and misery.

[ Bill sighing ]

Bill: Well hopefully, we can all move on.

Katie: Put sheila behind us. You don’t think she’s still gonna be a problem for us, do you bill? I mean, what exactly did she say? I can’t believe that she would come here, of all places, for help. Did– did she have a gun?

Bill: Katie, why do you want all these details?

Katie: Because I care about you. Because the idea of sheila harming you in any way or– or worse, it’s– it’s unthinkable. I know that we have been a little out of touch lately, a little out of sorts, but I care about you. We’re family. We have a son together. We’ll always be connected and it’s just– it’s terrifying to think that sheila could have harmed you in any way. I’m just so grateful she didn’t and that we never have to worry about that awful woman again. Because of you. You have eliminated sheila carter from our lives forever. Bill… you’re a hero.

Steffy: I really thought I was getting through to him.

Finn: Well, was it an act?

Steffy: No. No, he said he heard me. He understood our feelings about sheila. The pain that she’s caused and that I had every right to want sheila locked up, but he said that there was one thing I wasn’t taking into consideration: The emptiness inside of him. That he needed a woman who could handle him.

Finn: Okay, so what’re you saying? You’re saying that bill has seriously developed feelings for sheila?

Steffy: Oh, my gosh. I can’t believe this. I think bill has lost his mind and now we may all be paying the price. 3, 4

Sheila: Li, li, li. You– you amuse me. I think you’re confusing justice for retribution.

Li: Don’t worry, sheila. Your day in court is coming. Finn and steffy will testify against you. How you shot them and left them for dead. You’ll finally pay for your crimes. You may have given birth to finn, but god help him and hayes for even having a trace of your blood in their veins. But you will never be a part of their lives ever again. You won’t be discussed. Hayes will never know you ever existed. You will be erased from all of our lives forever. And there’s not a damn thing you can do about it. Guard, I’m done here.

Sheila: Yeah, well I wanna thank you for coming to see me, li. And please, tell finn and steffy that I’m thinking about them and we’ll all be together again soon.

[ Sheila laughing ]

Katie: You’re so quiet. Is this because you’re still shaken from what happened last night? You are a hero, bill. To all of us. We know that. You don’t need to wear that anymore. You can take the sword off.

Bill: Why would I take it off?

Katie: Because you don’t need it. I know you’ve been in a dark place, but that’s not who you are. You’re not that guy and what you did with sheila, it just proves it. You don’t need that anymore. You say you wear it for protection.

Bill: I do.

Katie: You don’t have to protect yourself anymore. Our greatest threat is behind bars and you put her there.

Finn: No, that’s great. I’m glad everyone is having such a good time.

[ Phone beeping ] Hey, the kids are fine. Amelia says they want to stay at the park.

Steffy: Okay.

Finn: Hey, we’re gonna figure this out.

Steffy: I just wish I knew what bill was doing. His motives are always so obvious. Money, power, prestige. I don’t understand what he expects to get from this.

Finn: Don’t you think that sheila might be blackmailing him?

Steffy: I was wondering the same thing, but he denied it.

Finn: You asked him?

Steffy: Yeah. He said that’s not what it is.

Finn: So, you’re saying that he really wants us to let sheila off the hook because he cares for her?

Steffy: Apparently, so much so that he’s willing to send my mother to prison if we don’T.

Finn: Honey, you’re right. He’s lost it.

Steffy: If sheila is actually blackmailing him, we’d be able to find a way out of this, but we’re in trouble if bill has real feelings for her.

I like to voost it voost it

Finn: But I thought one of bill’s redeeming values was his love for his family.

Steffy: It is.

Finn: But you’re saying that’s changed?

Steffy: I don’t know. I don’t understand any of this. Bill is threatening my mother, threatening her freedom so sheila could have hers? It’s absurd.

Finn: No, sheila belongs in prison. Taylor doesn’T. She’s a good person.

Steffy: She is a good person. My mom was a different person back then. Like I said, she thought bill was taking advantage of me.

Finn: Look, protecting your children is one of the most natural instincts there is. I mean, if I were in her shoes, I don’t know. I would have– the thought of bill hurting you? But now, he is. He is threatening our family and your mother. If sheila doesn’t stay locked up, there’s no telling what she could do to us. I mean, she’s already proven how depraved and murderous she could be.

Steffy: Bill swore he was never gonna say anything about my mom shooting him. And now, it could all come out because what? He’s– he’s lonely? This isn’t the bill I know.

Finn: Look, before he helped save me from sheila, I never thought much of the guy. He seemed very full of himself. But now, to defend sheila? To put us all at risk? Your mom, my mom, kelly, hayes?

Steffy: I get it. I know. Bill talks about not wanting to hurt another woman. Not cause them pain. But, he thinks with sheila, he doesn’t have to worry about that.

Finn: So, he’s fallen for her because she doesn’t have any real feelings? This is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard.

Steffy: Finn, it’s worse than that. It’s insane.

Officer: Rise.

Officer 2: Officer, step out. Give the prisoner time with their visitor.

Officer: Sir.

Officer 2: Did I not make myself clear?

Bill: Room clean?

Officer 2: Yes, sir.

Sheila: No one gets privacy in here.

Bill: I’m the exception to the rule.

Sheila: But why? What’s going on?

Bill: I had to make sure you were okay.

Sheila: I am now. But you shouldn’t be here, bill. This is dangerous.

Bill: Don’t worry. Everyone out there thinks I’m furious. I told them I had to look you in the eye and confront you for what you’ve done.

Sheila: Is that all you wanna do?

Bill: How are you doing?

Sheila: I’m hanging in there. Waiting for you to get me out the way you promised. Hey, you are still going to come through for me, aren’t you?

Bill: These last few weeks have been surreal for me.

Sheila: Yeah, for me too.

Bill: I’m working on everything to get you released. I can’t stop thinking about you.

Sheila: Well then, get me out of here soon so we can be together again.

Bill: Are you sure that’s what you want?

Sheila: Are you seriously asking me that?

Bill: I’m not talking about getting you out. I’m talking about whatever this is between us, whatever these feelings are that have arisen so quickly. Are they real? I’ve got to know, sheila. Are they real?

Interview with Tongayi Chirisa and Harry Hamlin

TV Interview!

Tongayi Chirisa and Harry Hamlin of "Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches" on AMC/AMC+

Interview with Tongayi Chirisa and Harry Hamlin of “Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches” on AMC/AMC+ by Suzanne 12/7/22

This is an interesting show. I haven’t read the books that this series is based on, so I can’t tell you how accurate it is or not. However, with just a cursory reading about the books online, it does seem pretty different in some ways. Some characters have been condensed, invented or changed. If you’re a purist, then you probably shouldn’t watch it. Otherwise, if you loved the books, or you like shows about witches, then you should check it out because it’s enjoyable. It stars Alexandra Daddario as the main character, Dr. Rowan Mayfair, who finds out after her mother dies that she has a family that she never knew, and strange powers.

I was able to join in this panel interview with Tongayi Chririsa, who stars as the handsome Ciprien Grieve; who helps her out; and Harry Hamlin, who plays her Uncle Cortland. It was a very fun interview. I’ve loved watching Harry Hamlin ever since he starred in “L.A. Law” in the 80’s. Did you know that Harry Hamlin was the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1987? Only the third one in history, too. He’s definitely my first one to interview. I hope you enjoy this transcript and the show, which airs Jan. 4 on AMC+ and Jan. 8 on AMC.

KAREN BUTLER:   Can you both describe your characters and tell us why you wanted to play them?

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   Okay, my character is Ciprian Grieve. He works for the Talamasca, and he has this ability. He’s an empath, and he has this ability to touch people or objects, and he can see into their past. And I thin the biggest thing that drew me to this was just the world, Anne Rice, and the genre that we’re in. And just for the character, just the challenges that he goes through, and just the ability to be able to feel the emotions of everything and everyone was just too alluring for me not to try and take a stab at it. So, I was drawn by the character and just the world, and just to work with Esta and Alex was just, like, “Oh, yeah, this is an opportunity that I will not let slip.”

KAREN BUTLER:   How about you, Harry?

HARRY HAMLIN:   Well, I play Cortland, Mayfair, and he’s the patriarch of this family of witches that have been evolving since the 16th century or something in Scotland. And I don’t have any powers, because the powers are mainly passed down through the women in the family. It’s sort of a matriarchal society in the family, and my job, as in my character, is to hold the family together. I’m kind of the fun uncle in the family. And I was drawn to to play the character, which is, by the way, the most delicious character I’ve played since the very first movie I did in 1977, which was called Movie Movie. I love that character, and this is most fun I’ve had since then. So, it’s been a long time, but I’m having a great time with this guy. They’ve let me create a character that may not be the character that Esta had in mind when she first wrote the script, but the good news is that they were writing the scripts as we were filming. So, they were able to see what each of us brought to the characters that they had written, and then they were able to expand on that in [the] writing. So, in a way they adapted their characters to us, to what we brought to it, and I love it when we when a show goes like that.

RIJU DASGUPTA:  So, what was it like to work with Alexandra Daddario, and did you think she was the perfect role for this series?

HARRY HAMLIN:   You take that one, Tongayi.

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   Yeah, I mean, Alex, what I liked about working with her is that she’s your everyday next door neighbor type of person. I think she just has the sense of freedom and just being very approachable, which made the work that much easier. So, when we had to go into scenes that most people will find uncomfortable, just there was that sense of security and sense of trust within each of us that allowed us to be as free as we needed to be to accomplish the scene. Yeah, Alex is a star in her own right. She’s an Emmy nominated actress. So, it doesn’t hurt to have people of that caliber working alongside, and who are just really nice people.

ASHLEY:   I’m curious if you could talk a little bit about the differences between the novels and the series. I know, in particular, there’re some differences with the characters that you’re playing, but if you want to speak to that, or just overall, some of the differences that we’ll see.

HARRY HAMLIN:   For fans of the books, they’ve taken the characters who, in the case of Cyprien they’ve amalgamated to characters, but in my case, the character of Cortland is not alive during the present day, but I’m very glad that they’ve resurrected him and I get to play him in this, because I love playing this guy. So, I don’t think there’s a lot of similarity between the character of Cortland in the books and the character of Cortland [in the series] other than the fact that he’s the patriarch of the family. And, I did draw some of the things from the book that I put into the character, but mainly, I relied on what was on the page in the pilot script to develop the character.

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   And I think just the story in itself. Esta did a great job of really capturing the essence of Anne Rice and some of the richer themes that convey who she was, and just the world that she created. This was her home, and just incorporating the finer – I mean, if you read the first book, you know it was so rich in detail, 1000 plus pages. There’s no way we could have incorporated all the themes, but I think she did a great job in just really bunching them together to give us the essence of the story, because the season itself, it starts the way the book starts and how it ends, and they’ve managed to keep that within the framework of season one. So, it doesn’t veer too much off from what we see in the narrative of the book. So, it still keeps the authentic essence of what Anne was conveying in the story.

SUZANNE LANOUE:   Hi. I was wondering if you could both speak to your characters’ personal motivations about how they act on the show?

HARRY HAMLIN:   Okay, so my motivation is to number one, stay alive, because [unintelligible] by people in this family who have powers, and also, there’s a cipher, a character that we don’t know quite from what dimension he comes, but he’s also a character, Lasher, that could at any moment do serious damage to me, because I don’t have any powers, other than the power of manipulation and charm. So, I’m constantly trying to hold the family together and get them to do the right thing and get these witches to behave in the right way so that they can have the best life possible and I can become as wealthy as possible, because my motivation is really, I’m a narcissistic sort of avuncular character in this, who, I think, I lose my way in episodes that you haven’t seen yet. I can’t go into that too deeply; I will be letting the cat out of the bag.

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   Yeah, I think for Cyprien, [when] it starts, his motivation is more about allegiance and obligation, just with his background of how he grew up and how he was integrated into the Talamasca. So, I think it is a sense of, like, “I need to do this, because of how I was treated and how somebody brought me in and took care of me and put me into this organization.” But when he meets Rowan, there’s a sudden shift, because as a person that has always been very closed – that’s why he wears the gloves. He keeps the world out, and he doesn’t want anybody into his personal space, because that might be too overbearing for him. But interacting with Rowan, you start to see him becoming very vulnerable and allowing somebody into his space that’s never been tapped into. And, obviously, that leads to situationships and circumstances, because he compromises his integrity, compromises the work that he’s supposed to do just to observe and to watch, and chooses to get involved. As a result, you see things beginning to unfold with him and Rowan’s character to the culmination of what we see at the end of the season.

JESSICA:   I wanted to ask specifically about the mythology of the series and the books and how it’s so big. How was it for you to come in to this and wrap your arms around it, speaking of mythology?

HARRY HAMLIN:   is that directed to me, to Harry?

JESSICA:   To both of you.

HARRY HAMLIN:   Well, I was not that familiar with Anne Rice coming into it, because I’m not the right generation. She was writing for people who were younger than I [was]. mean, not that she was writing for [them], but that was the generation that really caught fire with her work. So, I missed it. But being a student of mythology, as I have been, I was very attracted to this world, which is, I’ve not been a fan of vampires and witches in my life. I didn’t see many of the those series that were on TV about vampires and stuff. I did see the movie Interview with a Vampire years ago, which is my only exposure to witches and vampires. In fact, but now, having entered this world of Anne Rice and having been a part of it, I see that it’s very rich, and it’s actually an exploration of the human condition, from the sort of the mystical angle of witches and vampires, and I’m kind of digging it. So, I think I’m gonna go back and explore it now, in my old age. I’m gonna check out all these vampire movies and stuff. So, I don’t know if that answers your question, but it shows you where I am, anyway, with it.

JESSICA:   No, it totally does. And Tongayi, I was curious about, because you’re part of the Talamasca in this, and that’s their whole thing –

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   Yeah.

JESSICA:   How was that for you to come into this and kind of delve in?

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   You know, what’s interesting? I think my first introduction to the world of Anne Rice was the movie and then Queen of the Damned with Aaliyah, and then just the movies like Dracula that we used to watch, which were just visceral in the way that they were just really dark and gritty. So, you fast forward to last year, and this thing comes onto your table, and it’s like suddenly the memories start coming back, like, “Oh, I remember that.” But with Anne Rice’s world, I think I walked into this thing naive, and the closest thing I could connect it to was the Shield in the MCU Universe. I was like, “Okay, so the Talamasca are this entity that observes the supernatural, but they can’t get involved until absolutely necessary.” So, we are monitoring all over the world, the supernatural, so it was kinda like, “Oh my gosh, this can go in so many avenues,” which was just like, “Okay, this is exciting for me,” because how much of the external worlds have infiltrated the Talamasca. You know, is everybody who they say they really are? Like, are people undercover? So, just thinking about what can and what it could be was just enthralling to me to be a part of this and to just say, “Look, I don’t know too much.” And I think that kind of aids to my character, being unaware of what’s really going on, just as to be the innocence of Ciprien in his journey, because as things unravel, it affects him, because the people he thought he could trust, he can’t trust anymore, because somebody lied to him. So, I think just figuring it out is what I am enjoying the most, because I don’t need to have the answers to know where this is going.

RIJU DASGUPTA:  My question is about the Mayfair house. That is one creepy location. What was it like filming there?

HARRY HAMLIN:   Oh, it was great. What an amazing place to film. And they also recreated a lot of it on the soundstage too, but we actually film in the house, which was, I mean, to be just inside there and soak in the history of that house was truly amazing. Go ahead, Tongayi.

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   Well, we couldn’t actually get the real one, but they were able to get one that was similar. So, like I was saying, they actually reproduced the outside, and the internal stuff we had to do it on stage, but I think the spirit of New Orleans and the spirit of Anne Rice lives, because we filmed in the same street that the house was in, and just interacting with people and how much people knew of who she was, like, getting pedestrians talking about who she was and this house, it just added so much more value to what we’re doing. You actually walk into this space with a little more reverence, because now you have an embodiment of her spirit within the community. So, now you approach it with the kind of respect that it deserves. So, it was special in and of itself, and just New Orleans, as a whole, was just a magical place.

ASHLEY:   I’m curious to know, for each of you, personally, what was the most fun part about working on this, about filming, or just portraying your particular characters? What was the most fun thing for you?

HARRY HAMLIN:   I’m gonna go with that one because – no, you go first Tongayi; you go first.

TONGAYI CHIRISA:   I think the most fun part was just just coming to work and it not feeling like it was work, because I think everybody just understood the assignment. We came to explore; we came to learn. And the grace that was given to us as actors to really figure it out and discuss [it], if it didn’t work, we’d just pivot and try something else. So, I think that, for me, was the best. And the freedom to do so without any backlash, so to speak, was really nice.

HARRY HAMLIN:   Yeah, the environment that we were shooting in was very conducive to improvisation, to coming up with new ideas. The most fun thing, for me, is that after we filmed most of the season, they saw that the character that I had built throughout the season was different from the character that was presented in the very first scene where I was introduced in the piece, so they rewrote that scene. They came to me and said, “So, listen, we want to rewrite the scene, because we want to have Cortland introduced in a sort of bigger way. We’re gonna have you audition an alligator and a 10-foot-long python, and you’re gonna get to pick whether you want to work with this alligator, or this.” So, ultimately, I chose the python, because the alligator was a terrible actor. I mean, kind of very wooden, but the snake, on the other hand, was really vibrant and great to work with. Just one of my favorite partners in the in the whole piece was a 10-foot-long python.

Stephanie asks if he’s accusing Chad of using his kids to get close to her. Alex believes that Chad is taking advantage of the situation.

Sarah questions if Maggie is defending Xander to her. Maggie clarifies that she’s not defending his actions, but she just thinks that she should think about what drove Xander to such a terrible decision before making such a drastic step as divorce. Sarah asks if being in debt justifies kidnapping two women. Maggie insists that nothing justifies that, but she believes that Xander never meant to hurt either of them and points out that Xander did eventually let them go. Sarah mocks the idea of that making him a hero. Maggie says she’s just trying to help her see that it doesn’t have to end if she doesn’t want it to because she can save her marriage. Sarah asks what kind of person she would be if she condoned that. Maggie doesn’t think staying with Xander means she condones it. Sarah argues that she’s a doctor and it’s her job to help people, so she questions how she could be with someone who put someone else’s life in danger. Sarah declares that she can not be married to a man like Xander.

Justin guesses now he knows why Xander didn’t want to sue “Rednax”. Xander asks him to let him explain. Justin can’t believe he actually tried to help him. Xander didn’t want to involve him. Justin complains that he involved him when he kidnapped his wife and lied to him about it for weeks. Xander says he never wanted Bonnie involved. Bonnie says he has a funny way of showing it and complains that he must have thought it was funny to watch her trip all over herself to thank him and calling him her hero. Xander promises that he felt terrible guilt and shame. Justin says he should be ashamed. Bonnie tells Xander that he should be proud of being a criminal mastermind, so he should enjoy his handy work. Bonnie calls it a genius move to get someone else to pretend to be the Clown. Bonnie demands to know who his accomplice was and asks if it was Gwen.

Jada tells Rafe that she’s sorry. Rafe says it’s not like he wasn’t expecting it. Jada knows it’s not fun to see the papers. Rafe explains that he actually sent the divorce papers to Nicole, so she just signed them and sent them back. Jada guesses it’s basically done then. Rafe confirms that as soon as he signs the papers, his marriage is over. Jada asks if he’s sure he wants to do it right here instead of in his office. Rafe says it’s fine but hesitates and admits maybe it isn’t. Jada recalls when her divorce papers came and how they had been separated for awhile but there’s still something about how final it feels. Jada says she tried very hard to save her marriage but it was just over. Rafe assures that if he thought there was a chance to save it, he would still be fighting. Jada asks why the hesitation then. Rafe guesses he feels like he failed again.

Maggie can’t imagine how betrayed Sarah must feel by Xander’s actions and she’s sure that she feels the best solution is to wash her hands of him. Maggie relates to feeling that way in her marriage a few times. Sarah argues that this is different since Victor never pretended to be anything other than who he was. Maggie states that Victor did a lot of things that she didn’t like. Sarah doesn’t think she is as forgiving as Maggie. Maggie responds that it’s not about forgiving, but about love. Sarah questions if loving someone means accepting them no matter what. Maggie encourages that you have to hang on and fight until you can’t any longer. Maggie reminds Sarah that she made vows to Xander. Sarah is not sure that for better or worse included kidnapping. Maggie asks if Sarah still loves Xander. Sarah admits that she does and she’s always going to, but questions how she can trust that he’ll never do something like this again and how she stays in a marriage if she can’t trust her husband. Maggie declares that if Sarah decides she can never trust him again, then she should divorce him. Sarah asks if Maggie thinks there’s still a chance. Maggie says it’s too soon to make that decision because the pain and betrayal is too raw, so she needs time to think and make sure because she may change her mind tomorrow, next week, or next month. Maggie doesn’t want Sarah to do something that she can’t undo. Maggie tells her that she loves her and calls her the strongest person she knows, so whatever she decides, she’ll be here to support her. They hug as Sarah thanks her. Maggie then exits the room.

Gwen complains to Leo that it was wishful thinking that Sarah would keep her mouth shut. Leo can’t believe that Gwen and Xander were so careless to have a conversation in the middle of the park. Gwen decides she has to warn Xander but Leo takes her phone and asks why. Gwen says she already feels guilty about her role in Sarah finding out, so she can’t be the reason he goes to prison. Leo argues that Xander kidnapping people would be the reason he goes to prison. Gwen thinks if she gets to him in time, maybe she can help. Leo stops her and tells her that she needs to stay the hell away from Xander.

Xander questions why they would think Gwen was the clown who attacked them. Justin calls it the clown that he enlisted. Xander tries to deny it but Bonnie reveals that they know Gwen created the fake website for him and covered up his crimes. Xander promises that Gwen had nothing to do with the kidnapping. Justin guesses Xander won’t roll over on Gwen, but maybe he’ll change his mind when he talks to the cops which Xander questions. Xander argues that Justin doesn’t have to do this. Justin advises Xander to get himself a good attorney because he’s going to need one. Xander tries to plead with him but Justin and Bonnie exit the room.

Stephanie tells Alex that she and Chad are friends and he’s not forcing her to hang out with him. Stephanie states that coming here today was her decision and certainly not Alex’s. Alex tells her that she’s right and he’s sorry for overstepping. Alex says he can’t help that he cares about her and worries about her. Stephanie asks if he thinks Chad is manipulating her. Alex calls the whole situation unfair. Stephanie doesn’t understand where this is coming from since Alex was the one who asked Chad to stay and play video games on Christmas. Stephanie asks if he was just pretending to be nice and he didn’t really want him to stay. Alex admits he didn’t want Chad to stay considering they were about to have sex. Stephanie asks why he didn’t say something then. Alex says he wasn’t going to throw Chad out in the cold on Christmas and he didn’t want to look like a jerk. Stephanie remarks that he’s making up for that now. Stephanie says she’s sorry that he didn’t want to spend Christmas with Chad and that he thinks she spends too much time with Chad, but he’s still grieving his wife, who was her cousin. Stephanie declares that if she can help Chad, then she owes it to Abigail. Alex asks if she really thinks that’s helping or maybe making it worse. Stephanie questions what that’s supposed to mean. Alex asks if it ever occurred to her that maybe she’s leading Chad on. Stephanie argues that she would never do that. Alex says maybe not intentionally, but she hired him to consult at her company, he comes over on Christmas with gifts, and she goes ice skating with him and his kids. Stephanie points out that the kids are her family and they just lost their mother. Alex argues that she’s not just going with the kids, but together as a family. Alex complains that it’s not just today or Christmas, but any time that Chad shows up, upset, she lets him in. Stephanie remarks that he’s her friend. Alex points out that Chad wanted something more out of the relationship. Alex argues that the more chances she gives him and the more time she spends with him, the more of a chance that Chad thinks there will be something more between them. Stephanie questions Alex thinking that her being kind to Chad is signifying that she wants to be with him and for him to get over his dead wife. Alex says maybe he’s not explaining this correctly. Stephanie assures Alex that there is nothing romantic going on between her and Chad. Stephanie adds that Chad knows she and Alex are seeing each other and he respects that and respects her, which is more than she can say for some people right now. Stephanie then tells Alex that the kids are waiting, so she will text him to reschedule their meeting. Stephanie then walks away, leaving Alex frustrated.

Jada tells Rafe that just because his marriage failed, doesn’t make him a failure. Rafe informs her that he’s had three marriages and now three divorces. Rafe says at a certain point, you got to start looking at yourself in the mirror and wondering what the hell is wrong with you that you couldn’t make it work. Jada encourages him not to think like that, so Rafe asks how he should think. Jada states that she hasn’t known him very long, but he still seems to believe in love. Rafe doesn’t know why. Jada says he’s been hurt but he’s still taking chances. Jada feels it’s better to have loved and lost. Rafe doesn’t know if that’s true. Jada tells Rafe that nobody said he has to sign the divorce papers right now. Jada advises him to take his time, go for a walk, and make sure it’s something he’s ready to do. Rafe instead then quickly signs the divorce papers. Jada questions him not even waiting until she finished her advice. Rafe says he appreciates her effort, but he was just dragging out the pain and now, he’s glad it’s over. Jada asks if he’s sure he’s okay. Rafe responds that it wasn’t actually that bad. Jada suggests he take the rest of the day off but Rafe refuses and declares that he will get back to doing what he does best and that’s getting rid of the bad guys. Justin and Bonnie then arrive at the station. Bonnie announces that they have one of those bad guys for him.

Gwen questions Leo thinking she should stop talking to Xander. Gwen argues that she can’t abandon him now. Leo tells her to save her ass while she can. Gwen asks what if Xander needs her. Leo argues that Xander roped her in to a kidnapping scheme that ended with somebody dead so she needs to abandon ship. Gwen wants to offer a lifeboat. Leo points out that Gwen hasn’t been arrested. Gwen wonders if Sarah will leave her name out of it. Leo guesses that Sarah is probably blaring her name out in neon lights.

Sarah goes to her and Xander’s motel room. Xander is surprised to see her and offers to leave if she needs to rest. Sarah clarifies that she’s not staying. Xander admits he should’ve known that would be too much to hope for. Xander adds that she just missed Bonnie and Justin. Sarah asks how that went. Xander responds that Bonnie punched him in the gut and Justin vowed to have him thrown in prison. Sarah argues that Bonnie has been living in terror, thinking some maniac was out to get her. Xander understands why she told them and doesn’t blame her. Xander asks if that means she’s also going to talk to the police. Sarah responds that she has not spoken to the police. Xander notes that Justin and Bonnie just left for the police station to turn him in as the kidnapper, but the whole case is based on what Sarah told them that she overheard. Xander wonders if she will corroborate their story. Sarah admits she hasn’t thought about it. Xander guesses it must have crossed her mind before telling Bonnie. Sarah argues that Bonnie was a victim and deserved to know who terrorized her. Xander worries that now she’s going to share that knowledge with the police and their first question will be who she heard this from, so Sarah will be their next call. Xander asks Sarah what she’s going to say to the police.

Rafe and Jada take Justin and Bonnie in to the interrogation room where they fill them in on everything. Bonnie asks if Rafe is going to arrest Xander now that he knows exactly what he did to her. Bonnie adds that she knows exactly where he is, unless he tried to flee already. Rafe is afraid it’s not that simple. Bonnie asks why not. Justin points out that they brought secondhand knowledge that can’t be used in court which Jada confirms. Bonnie argues that Sarah heard Xander talking about it and told them, so she can tell them. Justin notes that they will still need proof. Bonnie asks about the fact that she was held prisoner or the fact that Susan is dead. Rafe clarifies that they need proof that it was Xander under the clown mask. Bonnie questions if they are going to let him get away with it and if they are just supposed to move on like nothing happened. Rafe assures they want to make sure he faces the consequences, but to do that, they need definitive evidence or someone to confess.

Leo tells Gwen that he’s never done a better acting job than when Bonnie was questioning him about the second clown. Gwen is relieved that she didn’t figure out it was Leo, but then Leo reveals that Bonnie thought the clown was Gwen.

Chad and Stephanie sit together on the bench. Chad asks where Alex is. Stephanie says he had to go back to work. Chad apologizes about before. Stephanie asks what he means. Chad says they had a meeting scheduled, so he’s sorry for making her miss it. Stephanie tells him not to worry about it. Chad still feels a little guilty. Stephanie asks if that’s because of what Alex said to him and admits she heard a bit of their conversation before she walked up earlier. Stephanie tells Chad that she doesn’t agree with Alex since they are friends and she enjoys spending time with him. Chad notes that Alex seemed pretty upset. Stephanie insists that he has no reason to be and is just letting his insecurities get the best of him. Chad still feels like he’s becoming an issue and he didn’t’ want to become a problem for them. Stephanie assures that he’s not, because it’s Alex’s issue, not hers or Chad’s. Chad responds that it’s not unreasonable for Alex to want to spend time with the woman that he’s seeing. Chad admits that if they were dating, he wouldn’t want to share her with another man either.

Gwen questions Leo saying that Bonnie thought she was the clown. Leo explains that it was technically Sarah’s theory which wasn’t a stretch since she knows that Gwen helped cover the original kidnapping. Gwen questions how she could pass for a muscle bound clown. Leo says the same way he did and reveals they knew about the bodysuit thanks to the cops finding some evidence. Gwen questions Sarah and Bonnie thinking that Xander actually had a physical fight with her. Leo admits Bonnie was skeptical. Gwen hopes so, but Leo worries that they could be led right to him. Leo argues that he’s finally getting his life together and Sonny’s starting to trust him, so he’s not a complete screw up and the last thing he needs is trouble with the law. The doorbell then rings. Gwen wonders who that could be and goes to answer the door. Gwen then returns with Rafe and Jada. Rafe says he hopes they aren’t interrupting.

Sarah tells Xander that she can’t lie to the police, so if they ask her what she heard he and Gwen talking about, then she has no choice but to tell them. Xander understands and says he would never ask her to lie, but she might not have to. Sarah asks what he means. Xander points out that she does have the option of not saying anything at all. Sarah argues that she’s not the one under suspicion. Xander explains that a wife can’t be compelled to testify against her husband. Sarah remarks that would be presuming that she still is his wife.

Stephanie appreciates Chad trying to understand Alex’s point of view, but she doesn’t want anything he said to affect their friendship. Chad assures that it won’t and says he’s really grateful for the time she has spent with him and the kids. Chad thinks it really helped the kids get through their first holiday without their mother. Chad notes that they are past Christmas now if she needs a break. Stephanie assures that she doesn’t as she likes spending time with Chad and the kids. Chad thinks that’s part of Alex’s issue. Stephanie says that’s too bad as she’s not looking to upset Alex, but who she spends her time with is her decision and not his. Stephanie adds that Alex has nothing to worry about since she and Chad are just friends. Chad then responds that they are more than that.

Justin and Bonnie return home to the Kiriakis Mansion. Justin tells Bonnie that he’s really proud of her for telling the police what Xander did to her as he knows how hard that was for her. Bonnie is just glad it’s over, but it was worth bringing up those awful memories if it can make sure that Xander gets what he deserves. Justin hopes it will put an end to her nightmares, so she no longer has to live in fear of being attacked by a clown. Bonnie thanks him and says he makes her feel so safe. Justin always wants her to feel that way as he hugs her. Bonnie says she feels bad for him because Xander is his family and he trusted and cared about him. Bonnie says Justin must feel so betrayed. Justin admits that he is, but the most important thing is to make sure that Xander and whoever helped him get what they deserve.

Gwen asks what she can do for Rafe and Jada. Rafe says it won’t take long. Gwen asks what this is about. Jada responds that it’s the kidnapping of Bonnie Kiriakis and Susan Banks. Gwen asks what about it. Rafe says there’s no need for the innocent act since they already know she was an accessory after the fact. Gwen is not sure what that means. Jada explains that Bonnie came by the police station and laid out everything about the kidnapping and it’s aftermath. Gwen responds that Bonnie must be so traumatized and asks if she accused her of something. Rafe informs them that Bonnie told them that Xander was her kidnapper. Leo calls that so awful. Jada says that’s why they are here. Gwen claims not to understand. Rafe explains that they know Gwen helped Xander, but they also know she wasn’t the mastermind. Rafe says any details Gwen could provide to help them build a case against Xander would be greatly appreciated. Gwen claims she would love to help but that she doesn’t know anything about the incident. Rafe says if she suddenly remembers something, they can work something out which Leo questions. Rafe says it seems unfair for Gwen to be punished for Xander’s crimes, especially after how he treated her. Rafe adds that he knows Xander and promises that as soon as Xander is faced with prison, he’s going to take Gwen down with him.

Stephanie questions Chad saying they are more than friends. Chad says they are family, so they will always be connected and he thinks that’s probably what struck a nerve with Alex. Stephanie says Alex will either get over it or he won’t. Chad knows the kids love spending time with her and he does too. Stephanie assures that she doesn’t think he’d ever be taking advantage but promises to let him know if it ever became too much for any reason. Chad jokingly asks Stephanie not to hurt his feelings too bad and let him down easy. Stephanie tells him not to give this Alex stuff another thought as that’s for her to worry about.

Gwen tells Rafe that his offer is very generous, but she’s afraid she has nothing to say. Jada questions if she has nothing to say or if she’s just not going to say anything. Gwen responds that either way, she won’t be talking until she talks with her attorney. Rafe says that’s fine but warns her not to wait too long because this case is not going away. Gwen says she understands. Jada tells them to have a nice day as she and Rafe then exit. Leo tells Gwen that was stressful. Gwen complains that they practically threatened to arrest her. Leo asks what she’s going to do. Gwen doesn’t know. Leo asks if she thought about taking the deal. Gwen questions throwing Xander under the bus. Leo knows she still loves him, but says he’s still pining after Sarah. Leo agrees with the cops in questioning why Gwen should suffer for something that Xander did.

Maggie joins Justin and Bonnie in the living room. Bonnie tells her about punching Xander in the stomach. Maggie calls it understandable. Justin explains that the police are trying to build a case against Xander as they speak. Justin asks how Maggie feels about that. Maggie thinks Xander should face the music for what he did to Bonnie. Bonnie appreciates her saying that since Xander is her son-in-law. Maggie acknowledges that she cares about Xander very much and despite what he did, he loves her daughter. Bonnie calls it so awful for Sarah to know that she’s married to a kidnapper. Maggie then reveals that Sarah is thinking about ending the marriage.

Xander asks if Sarah is saying she doesn’t want to be married to him anymore. Sarah responds that Maggie tried to convince her that she was rushing in to this and she admits that she didn’t know how she would feel when she saw him. Sarah adds that her heart was racing when she got to the door as she wasn’t sure what she would find. Xander asks what she means. Sarah says she didn’t expect him to be in here with his clown mask, but it just proved to her that she doesn’t trust him anymore and she never will. Xander tells her not to say that. Sarah announces that she will be filing for divorce when she leaves here. Sarah then goes to pack her things, leaving Xander holding back tears.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At Crimson Lights, Sally is on the phone making an Obstetrician doctor’s appointment when Adam comes in. Sally is concerned that he overheard her conversation, but he tells her that he did not and just wants to make sure she’s okay. He mentions that she was huddled over and it looked like she was hiding from someone.

In a sullen mood, Sally tells Adam to mind his own business and continues to snap at him while he is trying to be supportive. Adam realizes that Sally is not going to open up to him so he gets up and starts to leave the coffeehouse. At the same time, Sally realizes that she’s taking out her stress on him so she tells him to wait so she can apologize for taking out her bad mood on him. She mentions that she is overwhelmed by things with work.

When she gets back to her suite after her doctor’s appointment, she plops onto the couch and asks herself “what am I going to do now” and looks at the paper she got that has information on the first trimester of pregnancy.

At Devon’s penthouse, he is in the living room having coffee when Abby comes down the stairs from the bedroom. Abby mentions that she knows she’s in the right place. She tells him she feels happier and lighter than she has in a long time.  Devon says that he feels the same way.

Abby and Devon hug, with her mentioning that she has to go home to change her clothes because she can’t be seen in the same outfit for two days.  She also opens up to Devon about how she no longer considers the Chancellor mansion to be home anymore since she’s no longer part of the Chancellor family. She says that she feels like an intruder.

Over at Chancellor-Winters, Lily finishes up a phone call with Jill, and Audra is in at the office. Lily is excited that Jill has pulled the trigger on the IPO, so it will be a done deal soon. When Devon arrives, he says that he feels like he’s being excluded from his family company. He reiterates that he does not support Lily and Audra’s decision to forge ahead with the IPO.

Audra’s phone makes a  chime for an incoming text, so she steps out of the office to give Devon and Lily some privacy.  Lily tells Devon that she and Jill are on the same side, which gives them the majority over Devon. She also mentions that unless Devon can find a valid reason why the IPO should not go forward, she considers it best for their company.

At the Glam Club, Daniel is sitting on a sofa, reading a text from Heather. She is letting him know that she is happy for him, but Lucy needs more time. Afterward, Abby comes into the club and chats with Daniel. She notes that his family isn’t with him in Genoa City, and he feigns uncertainty about when this will change.  Abby lets him know about her split with Chance.

Daniel leaves for a meeting and Abby sits alone, looking sad and pensive as she removes her wedding ring and looks at her bare finger.

Lily comes into Crimson Lights noting that Daniel seems troubled and down. He talks to her about Savannah and mistakes he made there, letting his jealousy and insecurity dominate. He admits that he shut Heather and Lucy out and hopes that his gaming venture will show that he is not a lost cause. Lily tells him that no one considers him a lost cause.

She gives him some encouragement, saying that there’s nothing in his contract that says he has to be in Genoa City. She adds that could go back to Savannah or to be with them in Portugal. She says that keeping his family together has to be his first priority. He’s concerned that if he splits his then he will do a “half ass” job on both fronts.

Lily tells him that she is here for him if he needs anything. Daniel says that he really appreciates it. When Lily glances down at her phone, he asks her if she has somewhere to be. She mentions that she has an appointment to go to or she would stay at the coffeehouse chatting with him all morning.  Daniel notices that she seems a litttle nervous. She dismisses it and says that she’s just a little anxious. As she heads to the coffeehouse door, she gets a text from Billy letting her know that he’s just parked at the “doc’s” office, and asking if she’s on her way.

Tucker has summoned Audra to his suite in the middle of her meeting with Lily so she arrives there angry at him. Tucker tells her that he needs the IPO to go through because he wants to have enough shares in the company to be able to work alongside his son. Audra lets him know that she is not sure she can convince Devon to accept the IPO because he’s paranoid, due to the situation with Nate. Tucker remains adamant about his plan to become a colleague with Devon.

Audra urges Tucker to consider Devon’s point of view and come up with another way to make the IPO happen. Then she beats a hasty retreat back to return to Chancellor-Winters so as not to raise any suspicions among Lily and Devon, slamming the door as she leaves Tucker’s suite.

At Chancellor-Winters, Devon and Lily argue about the financial merits of the company going public versus remaining the way it is.  She tells him that the company’s valuation will increase substantially by going public; Devon says that they’re making money with it being private and family-run.

At Jabot, Kyle and Diane are talking when she gets a call from Jeremy. She lets Kyle know that Jeremy wants to get together with her that night. Summer comes by asking to speak with Kyle, but seeing as how he is busy with his mother, Summer makes up an excuse to leave. She tells Kyle that she needs to talk to him later about Mariah’s brief leave of absence from Jabot to meet the potential birthmother.

Summer then says that she has to go into Jack’s office to get some files and while she’s in there she can hear Diane talking with Kyle about how Diane is as tough and wily as people have accused her of being. She assures Kyle that she still has her touch and she has everything under control.

When Kyle and Summer finally have some time together, he notes that Summer has been acting “frosty” to Diane. Summer tells him that the situation with Jeremy is scaring her and she wants to get a break from Genoa City by going to a textile show in Paris. Kyle is on board with this, and then Summer shocks him by announcing that she wants to take Harrison with her.

At the Abbott house, Jack and Ashley are having another heated argument, even stronger than previous ones, about Diane. Ashley accuses Diane of putting on a “poor me” act and trying to get herself into Jack’s bed.  An irate Jack shouts that if Ashley is so concerned about who he entertains in his home, maybe she should stay elsewhere. Ashley counters that it is her home too, so Jack hastens to let her know that he is not throwing her out.

Ashley goes on, yelling at Jack about how she will not be forced out of her own home because of his “sick fixation” on Diane. Taking things one step further, Ashley angrily reminds Jack that she has not been on board with Diane working at Marchetti under the Jabot umbrella, and mentions that she was never consulted about it.

Ashley finishes her argument with Jack by telling him that as far as she’s concerned, Diane will never be welcome in the Abbott home or the family company … “not ever”!

Tucker is at Society having coffee when Devon walks in and Tucker picks up on his son being upset. He asks what the issue is and Devon mentions that it’s about the Chancellor-Winters IPO and his concerns about losing autonomy. Tucker notes that this seems unfair because he and Neil built it. He suggests that Devon should could take Hamilton-Winters back from Chancellor-Winters, and run the business on his own again.

Tucker mentions that Devon has the resources to re-aquire the company and run it on his own. Tucker urges Devon not to let other people control his destiny and tells Devon that he shouldn’t be restricted by what other people want.  He mentions that it is certainly okay for Devon to go after what he wants. He adds that he just might be the guy to help him do that.

Devon says he will think about it and consider what Tucker has said to him as Tucker’s phone rings. Devon comments that the phone has a unique chime and doesn’t let on to Tucker that he recognizes it.  Tucker blows this off by chuckling and telling Devon that it came with the phone.

Once Devon is outside Society, he calls someone and tells the person to find out out as much information as possible about a connection between Tucker McCall and Audra Charles.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

hot stone massage was exactly what I needed.

I think it was a good idea coming to the end for New Year’s E.

Something wrong. I’m reading a very disturbing message from Gray. You’re not even gonna believe what Kristen has done now,

my God. How can this be happening? Kristin? Just come and sit. I can’t sit Brady. I can barely breathe. I mean, whoever took her, why? Why haven’t they made a a ransom demand? Why haven’t they, why haven’t they told us what they need from us? We were told to wait for further instructions. We just need to be patient.

Patient.

Our daughter has been kidnapped to Brady. Okay? She should be hurt or worse after what we went through to be a family. Like we can’t lose her. And Brady we won’t. We won’t. Why are you so calm when you wait? How can you be so sure? How come Uncle Jar didn’t make me a try? Sarah, top sandwich. He didn’t even cut off my crust.

Are you not hungry, sweetheart? I don’t like chunky peanut butter. I can make you something else. After all, it’s not like I didn’t already aid in a bed enough. Felony against my will. What’d she say? I couldn’t. I just said, um, how about a grilled cheese sandwich? Would you like that? No. Thank you. Um, well, how about we watch Jurassic World?

I wanna go home.

I, I thought you were having. Well, I’m not now, but you the kid. Yeah. You and Sloan though. You were supposed to do a makeover. I don’t want a makeover. Come on. It’ll be so much fun. I wanna go. You hurt the kid, you know, like you can’t. Why not? Yes. Eric, why? Please explain to Rachel why she can’t go home.

You know, my New Year’s resolution is one of them anyway. What’s that? I’m to stop at the first bottle of champagne. Okay. We did have a lot to celebrate this year. No, I know that my look. Hey there. Hey, guess what? Good news, the prison is taking visitors again. So I’m going to go see Lucas this afternoon. Do you wanna come?

I, I would love to, but we have something very important we need to discuss. First,

I have your test results.

Like Sands through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

So, uh, I can see that I have elevated liver enzymes. Again, low uric acid. Mm-hmm. . And you remember last fall, those levels return to normal after you received the serum.

So does that mean that you think I’m relapsing? No. No, not necessarily. How are you feeling? Well, I mean, I feel fine except for a little hangover. So is there anything else that could cause abnormal results for teeth? Well, if you’ve been overindulging on eggnog, that would certainly affect your liver function , but I assume you do wanna run more tests.

You’re gonna show antibodies for this virus for the rest of your life, so we can’t test for reinfection. So what can we do? I wanna run identical tests on Kayla and Marlena and see if we get similar results.

Okay. What did Kristen do now? Oh, I’m not sure. Doc Brady says he thinks we ought to hang out here a little bit longer. Oh, well did he say. No, all he said was he had a pretty rough night because Kristen has been arrested for brainwashing her own brother.

I’m calm because I have to be. All right. Rachel needs us to keep clear heads here. Okay. But what, what, what can we do to find her? I, I mean, I know that we’re not supposed to get the cops involved, but there’s gotta be something that we can do expressing Chris and my dad is on the case. I’m in constant contact with him.

He’s chasing leads as we speak and, and Eric is looking for her as well. Sweet, sweet baby. I mean, she’s gotta be so scared. Kristen. What you are is exhausted. Okay. I think if you lied down for a couple minutes, you would wake up. We have some, no, I can’t. I can’t. I can’t even sit still. I know this is, I know it’s, I just, I love her.

I love that little girl so much. No, I really just couldn’t believe that this is happening again.

Well, you can’t go home right now, sweetheart, because. Well, because your mommy is sick and she doesn’t want you to get sick, then why can’t my daddy pick me up? Yes, Eric. Why can’t he? Because your daddy, he’s sick too. No, of course. Yay. Yay. That means they must have kissed on midnight. That’s how you attract germs.

You now. Yes, we do know that. Why don’t you take this plate and bring it into the kitchen now? Okay. I can. And grab a cookie while you’re in there. There’s some on the counter. I can,

I would. She’d be transmitting germs to me right now, but instead I’m stuck babysitting a stir crazy kid. Not that you gave me much choice in the matter. I’m sorry. I promise I’m gonna make it up to you. Yeah, you’d better if I get caught. I could be disbarred for this. Something. You’re not gonna get caught.

Well, I’m not as sure as you are. I mean, I need this to be over it today, Eric. Otherwise, you gotta come up with a new plan.

So, I mean, this isn’t really an emergency though, right? Because you, you took the blood samples on Christmas Eve and I still feel fine. Yeah, I mean, it’s, it’s definitely a reason to be optimistic. No doubt. But given what you went through, I just, I just wanna know what we’re dealing with. Yeah, we’d like to know that too, son.

Maybe give us, uh, some peace of mind. Hey. Hi. Hey, you too. Welcome home. Thank you. It’s good to be back. Yeah. Good to be back. Happy New Year everybody. Good to see you, Rex. Same here. Steve. Why does everybody look so serious? We have some news and it’s not good.

Drugging and, and brainwashing people. Will it ever stop? No one can only hope. You know what surprises me is that he was taking his odors from, from, from Lee and Christian. Yeah. Lee was at the helm of Dira and he and Kristen kind of share the same goal. Yes. But what was Kristen’s Motivat? Well, apparently she figures if Stephan pursues Chloe, that opens up a path for her and Brady as it cleans out.

She was right, Brady. It’s always about Brady. Everything she does ends up going back to her obsession with him.

Hey. Stop, stop. Stop. Kristen. Kristen, look at me. Look at me. Take a deep breath. No, I’m sorry. No, no, no, no, no. This is, this is a parent’s worst nightmare. No, it’s worse because I keep blaming myself. What? Why, what? Why about what you said last night. Maybe sh someone took her because they wanted to get back at me.

Do you think that’s the truth course? No, it was, it was a theory. All right. I, I shouldn’t have said anything. Oh my god. What? Sarah Horton? Sarah? Yes, yes, yes. She, she made that house call when Rachel was sick a few weeks ago and, and, and it was obvious that she felt a connection with our daughter. Still. No, never.

You’re grasping. No, it just makes sense, Brady. It makes total sense. And I bet you Xander helped. I’m gonna go over there right now. No, no. Hey, let’s look, look, leave me. No, you don’t need to do that. I will make some calls, I’ll make some inquiries. All right. But right now you need to get some rest. All right.

Please just go to bed, get under the covers and try to relax. No, buddy. No, no. I, I, I wanna be here. When you make those calls, I listen. You don’t need to be, you don’t need. As soon as I get some information that’s helpful, I will give it to you immediately, but right now you need to get some rest. I can see that Rachel would not want you getting sick over this.

Okay? Okay. I’m gonna try, try it. Go.

I know I’m asking a lot of you, but it won’t last much longer, the better not.

There she is. Did you take a cookie? Yes, I did. I took two . Great. I’m Lyric. Yeah. Can I please call mommy and daddy now? Well, they’re resting right now. Wait, I promise you can talk to him soon. In the meantime, how about that makeover? Hmm. gonna be fun, I promise. Should we? Okay. , why don’t you run to my bathroom, get my makeup bag, and you can pick out your three top favorite eyeshadow colors.

Okay. I hope you have purple. I’m sure I do.

You’re welcome. Thank you. Listen, I know I kind of tricked you into this. Tricked me. You lied to my face. You’re right. I’m, I can’t believe what a skilled liar had become. Well, you’re lucky that I’m madly attracted to you otherwise, that had turned you in already. Yeah. Well, you break client and attorney privileges.

Mm. Don’t push it. Promise I wont. I will. Call my brother and tell him that Rachel is homesick and we kind of need you to move to the next phase. Good idea. Hey, it’s Brady right here. Okay? Remember next face. Okay. Hey, Brady. Hey, how’s Rachel? Um, well, she is missing you. She’s a bit homesick. So I told her that mommy and daddy had colds.

Right. Hey, listen man, I know you wanted to, uh, keep this thing going a little longer to make sure the Kristen was desperate enough to fold, but to tell you the truth, I think sh I don’t think she’s gonna get any more d. She is right now. She’s coming up with these wacky theories that I have to pretend to investigate.

John and Marlena, they’re trying to stall them, but they’re gonna come home any second. That’s gonna complicate everything. I think we should pull the trigger on this and make the demand of Kristen. Now, I was about to say the same thing. Good. I’m glad we’re on the same page because the sooner we get this orchid, the sooner I can get my daughter back and we can put an end to this whole thing.

I assumed that one dose of the serum would keep the illness at bay forever, and it was a reasonable assumptions the way the virus acted with me all those years ago. Kind of a dad, your cure was different. It was derived from a rare species of orchid that’s now extinct. And a cure for Kayla and Mom and Marlena.

It was mysteriously dropped off at the police station in a vial. Damn. I should have tried harder to find out who our anonymous benefactor was. Oh, now look, we, we don’t need to panic. We don’t even know if anyone’s sick. Right. I think the first thing we do is I go to the hospital with Rex, we drop my blood and see what we find.

Okay. Um, we’ll put a rush on the labs. No, you know, better yet, let’s just do it ourselves. All right. Well, how long will that take? Uh, later today. Tomorrow, with the latest we’re about in my. You know what? Let’s just, let’s just give her a little time with John. You know, I mean, I mean, why worry her until we actually know what’s up?

John, you don’t suppose that Kristen had Ralph Brady, do you? No, no, no. Now, if Brady were brainwashed, he would be a lot more enthusiastic about having Kristen in our house. Like he’d be, uh, sleeping with her instead of like walking around with this dark cloud over his head. You have a point there. Yeah. He made it clear he broke up with Chloe, move Chris into our house because she didn’t give him a choice.

She’s holding something over his head.

You know, I almost feel bad about putting Kristen through all this. Hell, but I gotta keep reminding myself of why we’re doing it. Well, there couldn’t be any better reason than saving three women’s lives, right? If Kristen’s telling the truth about they’re needing another dose of that serum, and look, Eric, look, once we make the demand, For the orchid.

Kristen’s gonna know that it’s coming from me because I told her that I would never tell another soul. So I’m gonna have to be really careful about the way I break the news to her so she doesn’t go off the deep end. Isn’t she already there? Yeah. Yeah. But she can always go further. She can always get a little more cruel, a little more vindictive.

She’s gonna go nuts when she finds out that I was the one behind the kidnapping of Rachel. I gotta be really, really careful about finding the right moment to just drop the bomb on her. I think you just did.

Okay. I’m going to go see Lucas now and Rex can just go another time. I’ll drive you. No, you don’t need to drive me. I’m just, I’m fine. I’ll, I’ll call you as soon as I. Please do. Okay, Katie. I love you. I love you too. See you later. See? See ya.

So can I get you? No, I’ve kind of lost my appetite. Yeah. Sorry you had to come back to this. Yeah. Now Roman, I hate to think the. Good for these women to suffer through that horrible illness again. I mean, can’t let that happen, Steve. No, we can’t. Yeah.

You think you could do that for me? Yes. Yes, of course. You know, I’m just curious, what made you decide to run the test on your mom when she wasn’t exhibiting any symptoms? Honestly, I’m just checking boxes, submitting data to the FDA to show that the treatment’s still working. And how are you? Me? Yeah, you.

I hope that I didn’t fail my mom. Hope I didn’t fail. All three of you.

The only, we could figure out what Kristen is holding over Bray’s head. Mm-hmm. . And then we could get him out of this situation. We could get her out of our hole. Oh, please. Yeah. But you know, the, the real mystery is why we’ve been asked to stay here, you know, a little while longer to accommodate Christian.

What is that? Mm. Uh, you know, it’s not like it’s real hardship though. I mean, being alone with you like this on our little. Staycation. Mm. Yeah. A hardship at all. You know what I was thinking? Maybe you and I can make some real productive use of this time together. What do you think? I think that’s a idea. I love the way you think

she’s right here. I gotta go. I was hoping you’d be able to get some sleep. Yeah, I bet you were. Look, I don’t know what you overheard, Kristin. Oh no. Let me fill you in. What I heard was that my suffering, my being sick to death with worry about Rachel is all on your head. What the hell did you do with my daughter Brady?

So, Way on to the next phase. Brady’s telling Kristen as we speak and I’m sure she’ll be ever so understanding. She’ll undoubtedly understand that she’s been tricked and she’s living in the hell. We just need to hope that there’s no weapons in close proximity and all this will be worth it. Rachel time for the big reveal.

Wow. You look beautiful. Look at me. I am. You look gorgeous. I’s gonna get a Sloan a makeover. But she had a better idea. Yeah. And what’s that like? It’s your turn.

Answer me, damnit. Where is Rachel? Where is she? Rachel is fine. And where is she? I’m not telling you why. Why are you doing this? Brady? You really gave me no choice. I gave you no choice. I don’t know what the hell you talking about. Come on your devious little mind. Can’t figure this one out. I needed leverage on you, so I took Rachel and you are not gonna get her back until you hand over the.

Oh, baby. Oh my gosh. . Bless you. I’m so sorry, . It’s a real mood breaker. Isn it, I’m sorry. It’s a, it’s a, but Julia gets me every time. Oh, oh, oh, wait, wait, wait. You know what? Hold on. Hold on.

Here. I got that from the, what is it? Ba

Aphrodisia Paradise. . Come on. Let’s see. It’s up to its name. Oh, so what are you already angling for? Another massage. Is that it? Have you met me? Yeah. . Yeah. We roll over

A little there a little bit. No, no, no. Don’t look. Okay. You look kind of, you look kind of edgy and beautiful. Hmm. What do you think?

It’s not, not bad , but now it’s time for the lips. What are you gonna do with my lips? Oh, None these colors really suits you in Glas. No. Oops. Um, you know, listen, I’m really starting to agree with Rachel here. Oh no, don’t worry. It’s just gonna be a nice ENT slip. Balm. We got a little chap there. We just can’t have that.

Oh no. How crap. Oh yeah. Oh, this is beautiful. Uncle Eric. Oh, you can’t do this? Mm, I already have. She don’t give a damn, do you? The hell? You put me through the hell you put your daughter on. Rachel is fine and she’s in very good hands. Okay, well, whose hands? Who’s the other accomplice and who, who is on that phone?

Just. You’ll never know. Oh, you are never gonna get away with this. You think I put you through hell do you? What about the hell that you’ve been putting me through? Hmm. What about Chloe? Oh god, please. Chloe. Oh, I’m, she sure she is having a grand old time basking in the afterglow with her new adoring lover.

Watch it. Yeah, I’m sure they’re both undoubtedly on cloud nine right now. But you, Brady, you have screwed yourself big time because not only. Has your little slutty girlfriend moved on, but you’ve effectively lost your daughter? What? Yes. You think a judge is gonna let you have custody AF of Rachel after this stunt?

Except no judge is ever gonna know about this. The fact is, Chris in the bottom line is screwed yourself. When you decided to play with those three women’s lives, you put this all on yourself and you pushed me to do this. And if you wanna see Rachel ever get oh kiss. It’s very simple. You hand over the orchid to me, she comes home in a heartbeat.

But if you don’t, I promise you, you will never see her again.

I could stay like this with you forever. Nothing. I’d like more. Do you know what doc? My alarm’s going off. It’s time to go home. No. Can we, can we push back our checkout time? I already did that by an. Well, maybe we could do it for another hour.

That’s very tempting. But you and I, we need to get home and see if we can find a way to help out

back to the real world.

Sweetness, how you feeling? Uh, the same as I was 30 minutes ago. Rex is in the lab. He said that the test results should be back in minutes. I’m on my way. No, you, you don’t need to do that. I’ll be right there. Thank you.

Link and they give you a heart touch. AWS so nice. I’m gonna give daddy one minute. Get home. Your daddy will love it too. And I can give mommy a matching one. Your mommy could definitely use a heart. I’m excited about mommy and daddy. Well, we, we really don’t know what happened between them last night. I do.

They kissed for sure. And soon they’ll get married. Yeah. Well, I know that’s what you want, but Rachel, honey, why don’t you go wash the makeup off your hands, okay?

Really? You wanna get the kids hopes up about her parents? Yeah, I know that’s what you want, Rachel. I didn’t know what else to say. Well, I’m sure you could have come up with something. I mean, she’s gonna be in a world of heartbreaking when she finds out the. That her daddy hates her mommy, and they’ll never get married.

Look, my mother’s life is at stake, so is my stepmom’s and my aunt. So if this is what it takes to save them, not to mention getting Brady out from underneath her thumb that it’s all gonna be worth it. You won’t do it. You wouldn’t dare. It would break Rachel’s heart if you keep her from me. Then why don’t we just do this the easy way.

Just give me the orchid. Oh, right, right, right. And then you can just kick me out of the house. Go running back to Chloe if she’ll have you, which I doubt. I guess we’ll find out, won’t we? No, no. Brady, we won’t. You bring Rachel back to me or I’ll let those women die. Is that a chance you’re willing to do?

You don’t want to threaten me. I will threaten you right back. You go ahead and withhold that orchid, but you are never gonna see your kid again.

Is that a chance that you wanted to?

Let’s go.

Any chance to come up for air? Baby, I’ve been gone for weeks. I’ve, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do it. And, and if, if I’m gonna be outta commission again, I, if that’s even a possib. Is this how you want to be spending your time?

No. Come here.

Well, it’s the same abnormalities that were in Kate’s blood work. But you’re still feeling fine, aren’t you? Yeah, I feel fine right now, but

oh dear God. Oh, come on. So you sneeze. So, That doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Right? Um, that’s how the illness presented itself the first time in all three cases. What do you say in Rex? I hope that I’m wrong, but I But you’re not. We both know. You’re not. We both knowing it.

Hey, you. Hey. Any news? Kayla called Steve. What did she have to say? Well, she uh, said they should have the results soon. So Steve went to be with her and, uh, we should all know something sent. How’s Lucas? Wow. He.

Hopefully quiet in here. Well, maybe Brady persuaded Kristen to leave. He, uh, if only all, let me take these up. Sit right back. Thanks him.

Oh, oh darn. Massage oil. Okay. Where is everybody?

You kept the orchid here. Yeah. I mean, where else would I. I’ve heard of hiding things in plain sight, Kristen, but this is ridiculous. Who else is in on this? No one?

Well, where is it? Follow me.

Is that from. Did something happen? It is from Brady. You’ll be happy to hear. The Christian is apparently taking him to get the organ. So this is gonna be over today? Yes.

I believe I didn’t figure this one out. Figure what out. Anything. Everyone is always hidden in the Demara Secret room.

The orchid is right here,

right where, oh my God, it’s.

Daniel: I can’t tell you how great it was to see you spending the holiday together. It’s — it’s just what I needed.

Danny: It meant a lot to me, too. Before I go, a little fatherly observation.

Daniel: Lay it on me.

Danny: You’re going through a really tough time with heather and lucy. But you owned your mistakes. You realized you had to pull yourself together. And I think, now focusing on your daughter, that’ll help carry you through. And I say this from personal experience, I think, because the most powerful motivator of all is the desire to do right by your child.

Daniel: There’s nothing i wouldn’t do for lucy.

Danny: I’m proud of you. Not just for what you’re doing but for the man you’re determined to be.

Daniel: Thank you. You know, no one inspires me the way you do. And I am very excited that we’re gonna be working together.

Danny: The feeling is mutual.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Can’t wait to hear what you come up with for my “finding princess louisa” game.

Danny: And I can’t wait to hear it myself.

Daniel: Mm.

Danny: I’m gonna get back and I’m gonna start recording right away. Now, listen, I welcome any notes you might have. I mean, I may be the musician, but this is your show.

Daniel: I appreciate that. Something tells me it’s gonna be a great collaboration. Communication is key, right?

Danny: Right. Glad to hear you say that, because there’s something I need from you.

Daniel: Yeah. Name it.

Danny: Promise me that you won’t bottle up your feelings when it comes to your family again. Right? You call me. Better yet, just come visit. I’m always there for you.

Daniel: You have my word.

Daniel: You have got a lot of work to do, and I’ve got to hit the road soon, so I’m not gonna say goodbye. Just…see you soon? Come here. I love you, daniel.

Daniel: I love you, too, dad.

Danny: [ Sighs ]

[ Sniffles ]

Daniel: [ Sighs ]

Danny: [ Sighs ]

Mariah: I cannot believe that this is happening.

Tessa: Want me to show you the plane tickets again?

Mariah: Thank you for getting on that, by the way.

Tessa: Good thing I booked everything, ’cause we will be flying out in a few short hours.

Mariah: And then, tomorrow, we will meet delphine face-to-face and show her why we are the ideal parents to adopt her baby.

Sharon: Well, I am so glad she got back in touch with you, even though I know it took longer than you expected.

Mariah: I know that I’m not supposed to let my feelings run away with me, but I’m just gonna say it. Meeting this woman tomorrow could change our lives.

[ Door opens ]

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Christine: Danny.

Danny: Cricket?

[ Chuckles ]

Nate: That takes care of the updates to our development slate. Next up, social-media campaigns. I know nick had some thoughts on the budget, if you’d prefer to wait until he’s available.

Victoria: Oh, he knew we were meeting, and he chose not to come, so I’m not inclined to accommodate his personal schedule.

Nate: Look, uh, I don’t mean to overstep, but I know nick wasn’t too thrilled when you hired me. I’m sure he would have preferred to keep sally in this position.

Victoria: Well, none of that matters. It was not his decision to make.

Nate: Even so, is my being here causing conflict between you two? And if so, is there anything I can do to help?

Lily: Nick. Happy new year.

Nick: You too. It’s great to see you.

Lily: How was your holiday?

Nick: Pretty great, actually. How was yours?

Lily: Uh, it was fine. Just, you know, kept it low-key.

Nick: I was just wrapping up a lunch meeting here. Are you meeting someone right now, or do you have a minute to talk?

Lily: Um, yeah, sure. What’s, uh, on your mind?

Nick: Well, I was hoping we could finally get a chance to talk about nate joining newman media. Like chancellor-winters, newman is a family-run business. It can be volatile at times, working so closely with the people who can push your buttons the most. They can say that it’s just business, but it’s difficult to not take it personally sometimes. I guess what I’m trying to get at is, I wanted to apologize specifically to you on behalf of newman enterprises if it had any part whatsoever in your family’s conflict.

[ Door closes ]

Chelsea: I didn’t expect to see you.

Billy: Uh, yeah, I have some important business.

Chelsea: Oh?

Billy: I want to find out how connor’s project went at school.

Chelsea: Well, connor’s not home yet.

Billy: Oh. Right.

Chelsea: But I highly doubt that’s the real reason you’re here.

provided by… doesn’t your family deserve the best?

Christine: I knew you were in town. I just didn’t know if we’d cross paths.

Danny: Talk about timing. I was just about to call you.

Christine: You were?

Danny: I wasn’t sure if you were still away. And I — I just wanted to at least say hello.

Christine: Well, [Chuckles] Paul and I got back last night. How long are you staying?

Danny: I leave today.

Christine: Uh…

Christine: Um, I’m — I’m meeting sharon’s daughter, mariah, and her wife, tessa. They’re adopting a child. I’m helping them navigate the process.

Danny: Oh, that sounds incredibly rewarding.

Christine: Yeah, they’re great, and they’re gonna be amazing parents. Mariah and tessa have a tremendous amount to offer a child.

Danny: Plus, any kid would be lucky to have sharon as a grandmother.

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, well, times like these, I’m glad I became a lawyer.

Danny: I entertain people for a couple hours, and you transform their lives.

Christine: Yeah. On a good day.

Danny: Yeah. Well, I, um — I don’t want to hold you up, so I…

Christine: I-if you don’t have to rush off, I don’t have to be anywhere afterwards.

Danny: I’ll be here when you’re done.

Christine: Okay.

Lily: Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that, because, yes, it was very shocking how everything went down.

Nick: Yeah, I was, uh, shocked, as well.

Lily: I mean, look, devon and I have no proof that it was newman that was trying to take over chancellor-winters or that it was victoria who was getting information from nate. But I think we all know what happened. And then, of course, you know, nate is now rewarded with a top spot at newman media.

Nick: [ Sighs ] I cannot confirm any of that.

Lily: Wow. You’re not denying it either. Look, I understand why you can’t say anything, but I can clearly tell that you had no part in it. And I thank you for that. Because, yes, it was a painful issue during a complicated time. A lot of people I thought I could rely on have let me down. But, um, you know, I roll with it because I have to. But it doesn’t change how much it hurts.

Nick: Are we talking about nate… or billy?

Billy: I’m not sure why you would doubt me. I’m deeply invested in the success of connor’s contraption. Never thought I’d care whether an egg would break or not, but I do.

Chelsea: Would you stop? I know something’s wrong.

Billy: I’m not sure why you would think that.

Chelsea: Well, for starters, you showed up, alone, downstairs on new year’s eve when you should have been with lily. There was a sadness in your eyes. It’s there now, too. So please stop pretending everything’s okay, when clearly it’s not.

Billy: I didn’t come here to burden you with my problems, chelsea.

Chelsea: Billy, you are not a burden after everything you’ve done for me. This can’t be a one-sided friendship. You have to be able to talk to me, or else I’m gonna feel like a pity case you only hang out with ’cause you feel sorry for me.

Billy: I don’t think that way about you.

Chelsea: I’m not gonna fall apart because you share your problems with me. Okay? Come on, I mean, you keep insisting that I’m — I’m so tough, I’m so strong. So let me support you the way you’ve been supporting me.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Okay, fine, since you insist. Lily thinks we might be done.

[ Inhales deeply ] Hey… it’s me! Your dry skin!

Victoria: You are a huge asset to this company. Full stop. Nothing beyond that matters.

Nate: I appreciate you saying that.

Victoria: Well, I’m simply stating the truth. And as far as nicholas goes, he shouldn’t be a problem, unless has he treated you unprofessionally since you had that prickly conversation when you first started? Or has he implied that he doesn’t want to work with you, moving forward?

Nate: No, no, not at all.

Victoria: That’s good. You know, I’m glad that my brother is back at the company. But when I put you at the helm of newman media, he should have stepped back. He shouldn’t have blended his work life and his personal life. But instead, he let his feelings overcome his objectivity.

Nate: Yeah. Kind of like devon and me. We each fell victim to the same mistake. But I won’t repeat that here.

Victoria: I know. I have utter confidence in you, nate.

Nate: And you and nick?

Victoria: We love and respect each other. We’re not always gonna be on the same page, but we will manage to get through this disagreement. We always do. We always have each other’s backs when it really matters.

Victoria: [ Gasps ]

Nate: Uh, tell you what. Let’s clock out for a bit. I can grab us two coffees from the break room, then the personal won’t encroach on the business.

Victoria: Okay, I’d like that.

Nate: [ Chuckles ]

Christine: I’ve spoken with the birth mom’s representative. Delphine has considered other couples. She’s doing her due diligence, but she hasn’t responded to anyone as enthusiastically as she did to your profile and that lovely letter you wrote.

Tessa: You are doing a lot of writing from now on.

Mariah: Well, hopefully, if everything falls into place, we won’t have to send another one.

Sharon: I love how you’ve made it a joint effort. You two make a great team.

Christine: And I second that. So, did I understand the voicemail right? Is tomorrow the day you’ll be in delphine’s hometown? Your first get-together?

Mariah: Yeah. My stomach is doing flip-flops all over the place.

Tessa: Yeah. I mean, yes, we all agree that this is just a meet-and-greet. It’s very casual, but, I mean, it’s so much more than that.

Tessa: Try, the most important interview of our entire lives. There’s so much at stake. We have to make a flawless first impression.

Tessa: I mean, this woman is deciding whether to entrust her baby to us. I mean, she’s gonna have a million questions.

Mariah: Who we are as a couple, where do we live, how are we planning to raise the child, because we both have demanding careers. And even if we nail all of the questions and delphine likes us, if there’s no chemistry, if we don’t form an emotional connection, then that’s it. And we’re back at square one.

Tessa: And it’s easy to say that we would be prepared for that, and that we’re managing our expectations, but in reality, it would hurt.

Christine: Just don’t get ahead of yourselves.

Sharon: Yeah, christine’s right. Remember what we talked about from the very beginning. Adoption is a process, it’s not an event. You need to take things one step at a time, right?

Christine: And just be yourselves. Answer her questions as honestly as you can, and maybe go there prepared with a few questions to ask her, so you feel like you’re on equal footing.

Sharon: That’s excellent advice.

Christine: Above all, speak from the heart, okay? Help her understand how strong your relationship is and what an amazing and loving, stable home you can provide with an incredibly supportive, extended family. You know, paint a picture of who you are and what life would be like together with the baby.

Danny: I’m danny romalotti.

Christine: I can’t believe it. It’s really you.

Danny: Well, you know, uh, I could say the same thing. I mean, you’re pretty much a very big celebrity in this town.

Christine: But not like you.

Danny: Are you kidding? Those jabot junior ads are my favorite.

Christine: You mean that?

Danny: Of course I mean it. What do you say we get better acquainted over a soda?

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Well, sure, I’d love to.

Danny: I don’t know how long I’ve loved you.

Christine: You don’t?

Danny: No. I was trying to remember the first time, the first day, the first moment I realized I was in love with you. And I can’T. I can’t, because I’ve always been in love with you.

[ Waves crashing ] I can’t imagine my life without you. I don’t even want to try.

Christine: I don’t either.

Danny: You’re really nervous, aren’t you?

Christine: A little. But I figure, hey, it’s a joint effort. Any screwups and you take half the blame.

Danny: Well, that’s what husbands are for, dear.

Christine: Well, no matter what happens, I know one thing’s for sure. I’m happier than I ever imagined.

Danny: So am I. It’s pretty sickening, isn’t it?

Christine: Completely.

Danny: Mmm.

[ Soft music plays ]

Danny: It was the last thing I expected to do.

Christine: What, destroy our marriage vows?

Danny: I paid for it.

Christine: No, danny, I paid. Your little slip turned into quite a fall, didn’t it? An innocent little backstage party. You got to drinking. And I bet phyllis was right there refilling your glass. Then, before you know it, off to bed. Well, now the two of you have a child together, and you’re stuck with her. And believe me, from everything I have seen of phyllis, the word “stuck” really fits.

Christine: Are you okay?

Danny: You know, some good has come of the past few months that you and paul have been apart. I realize how much he means to you.

Christine: He’s changed my life, danny. And I love him.

Danny: And he loves you.

[ Soft music plays ] I wish you the best.

Christine: Thank you.

Danny: All I’ve ever wanted was for you to be happy.

Danny: [ Sighs ]

[Coughing]

Victoria: You know, as much as I love being a mom — i really do — there are, you know, certain challenges that come up.

Nate: I have yet to be a parent. However, I was a child once and vividly remember some of my more colorful years.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] I’ve already been through all of this with my older son, reed. I had some pretty turbulent times with him, but he’s doing good now. I mean, we’re in a really good place.

Nate: Good to hear.

Victoria: Meanwhile, [Sighs] Johnny is at that stage where it’s natural for him to want to pull away. But there are just these other complicated factors.

Nate: How complicated are we talking?

Victoria: Extremely complicated. And the situation — it’s a lot tougher than I ever anticipated it would be.

Chelsea: Billy, you have to fix things with lily. I am so sorry for taking up so much of your time, but it’s a terrible price you have to pay for helping me.

Billy: Chelsea, that’s not what this is.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] So, what happened?

Lily: Why would you ask about billy?

Nick: You didn’t bring up his name when I asked you about your holidays. I know he recently quit as your ceo. You know, billy was my brother-in-law. I had a front-row seat to his and victoria’s relationship, so I have a pretty good sense of what it must be like and how challenging it is to get involved with someone like him.

Lily: Hmm. Yeah, I suppose you do know him pretty well.

Nick: So, uh, I’m more than willing to give you my perspective if you want. I could also just sit here and listen, because I get the feeling a friendly ear is what you could use right now.

Mariah: We know that this trip might not turn out like we hope. We know that it could not lead to us getting a child. We’re aware of everything that could go wrong.

Tessa: Because some of them have already.

Mariah: Yeah, exactly. But each step we take in this new journey, I think that eventually it’s gonna lead to our baby.

Christine: [ Sighs ] Well, I wish you the best.

[ Chuckles ] Let me know how it goes.

Tessa: We will.

Mariah: Yeah.

Sharon: You better get packed up. You don’t want to miss your flight.

Mariah: Yes. We have to get moving.

Tessa: Well, we will be in touch.

Christine: Alright.

Mariah: Alright. Bye.

Tessa: I’ll see you.

Christine: Bye.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Thank you so much for shepherding them through this.

Christine: It is one of my favorite parts of the job — creating new families.

Sharon: Yeah. I remember that well.

Christine: Yeah. I mean, now it’s up to them and the prospective birth mom.

Sharon: I’ll be on pins and needles the whole time.

Christine: I know, waiting is the hardest part, for sure.

Sharon: I’m gonna get some work done, try to do anything to distract myself. Can I get you something?

Christine: No, no, no, I’m fine, but thank you.

Sharon: You’re welcome.

Christine: Thanks for waiting.

Danny: It was worth it to have some time with you. Flu symptoms hit harder than the common cold.

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Dry skin is sensitive skin, too.

Danny: I assume that you’re still glad to be in private practice.

Christine: Yeah. I like taking on cases that are meaningful to me. I mostly do pro bono work.

Danny: Putting good out into the world.

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Where I can.

Danny: Some things never change.

Christine: Well, like you and your flourishing career. Come on. Still making music and selling out shows?

Danny: I’ve been fortunate, to say the least. I’m — I’m really blessed to have some amazing fans.

Christine: Are you still enjoying touring as much as ever?

Danny: Yes, um, but it does have its downsides. I — I get it now, why being on the road so long isn’t for everyone. But I do enjoy traveling the world and visiting some of my favorite places, seeing new ones, meeting people. And gina flies out on occasions and, yeah, we get her onstage. She does a couple songs. Yeah, that’s always the best.

Christine: Gina’s doing well?

Danny: Yeah, she’s great. I spent thanksgiving with her, and christmas and new year’s with daniel, and, yeah, it’s — it’s turned out to be a really wonderful holiday season for me. I assume you know daniel’s back in town.

Christine: Yeah, I-I do. I haven’t seen him. Paul and I found out what happened from heather. So, you know, we’re just hoping that she and lucy and — and daniel are okay.

Danny: Yeah, so am I. Phyllis and I, we’ve been, you know, rallying around him and, yeah…

Christine: I know. I saw the photo. She tagged you, and that’s how I knew you were in town.

[ Chuckles ] Genoa city’s very own rock star returns for a limited time only, glad to spend time with the people he loves most.

Danny: Social media at its finest.

Christine: For daniel’s sake, I’m glad you’re all together. I just hadn’t realized that you and phyllis had stayed in such close touch over the years.

Billy: Look, it’s not like i just put my hands up and said, “okay, fine, we’re done. No problem,” alright? It’s not — not at all what I did, and I want to — I want to work on this, but I — it’s just not enough.

Chelsea: Okay, listen. You always want to paint yourself as this screwup who’s destined to fail. And right now, I’m sure you’re feeling a little defeated and maybe a little scared. But you are strong and you are loyal. And you are relentless when you want something. So go make this right.

Billy: I would love to. I really would, believe me. But I don’T… look, lily was very calm and rational when she laid out the reasons why we should take some time apart. And you know just as well as i do, you start having that conversation about taking a break, 9 times out of 10, it’s done. That is someone trying to let you down easy instead of making you feel like you just got dumped.

Chelsea: You don’t know that. Stop trying to convince yourself that you do.

[ Sighs ] What you need to do right now is go find lily right away and very calmly and rationally lay out all the reasons that you need to stay together. But not too calm. Hold your ground. Be as passionate and sincere as you know how to be. You helped me get my second chance. Now it’s time for you to go get yours.

Lily: Thank you for the offer, but I won’t be needing your ear, no matter how friendly it might be.

Nick: Fair enough. I got to get out of here anyway.

Lily: Well, I’m glad that we had a chance to chat.

Nick: Me too. Before I go, I just wanted to tell you how impressed I am with what you’ve done with chancellor-winters. Lily, you lead with integrity and dignity. And it’s not always easy to do in this business world we live in. I’m impressed. I’m proud of you.

Lily: Thank you. Thank you. That, um — that really means a lot coming from you.

Nick: Well, I think that there isn’t anything you can’t conquer. And I wish you all the best in the new year.

Lily: Same to you. Bye.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Billy: Can we meet? Your heart is the beat of life.

Danny: I wouldn’t say that phyllis and I are close. We’re more like teammates — you know, co-parents, grandparents. But you know how phyllis is. She always has to put a spin on things, making things appear shinier and brighter than they actually are.

Christine: Yeah, she always had an extraordinary talent for deceit and fabrication. We first saw that when she set her sights on you and injected herself into our lives.

Danny: I often… wonder… what my world might be like if phyllis summers had never been a part of my story. But then… I wouldn’t have daniel and lucy, and — and they’ve brought, um, such immense joy.

Christine: I know, you had to find a way to coexist with phyllis. I’m glad you got to that point.

Danny: It wasn’t easy.

Christine: I know.

Danny: Yeah.

Christine: Still, I will never forgive or forget what she did. Even after we were no longer together, she just kept coming after me. She literally almost cost me my life.

Danny: [ Sighs ] Hey, hey. I’m sorry for all the pain that phyllis caused you.

Christine: It’s not your fault. You were a victim, too. And look, we did our best to try and deal with the fallout of her actions.

[ Sighs ] I’m just glad we were able to — to move on and find happiness,

[Sighs] Even if we didn’t find it together.

Danny: [ Sighs ] Last time we saw each other, I-I, uh — I think it was, um, at your wedding.

Christine: Yeah.

Danny: You and paul are going on, what, 10 years now?

Christine: Yeah. Good — good memory.

Danny: The big-time lawyer and the chief of police, one of genoa city’s power couples.

[ Chuckles ]

Christine: I don’t know about that, given the players in this town.

Danny: But you guys are good, right? I mean…

Christine: Yeah, we’re — we’re really good.

Danny: I know that you and paul always had this deep connection and you know…

[ Chuckles ] I — I’m — I’m really happy that things are going well for you. I am.

Christine: Oh, is there someone special in your life?

Danny: Uh… wow. Um, yeah, I, um…

[Clears throat] Yeah, I’ve been seeing someone. It’s, uh — it’s, you know — it’s casual. I mean, you know, given my schedule, I — I don’t really know where it’s going. I guess time will tell, but, uh, I guess my life is full right now. But there’s always room for a dear friend.

[ Sighs ]

Nate: I’m not going to ask you about the details, but I can tell you from my own personal experience that your son will always love, admire, and respect you, even if he doesn’t always show it.

Victoria: Well, that’s a very nice sentiment, but you can’t know that for sure.

Nate: Actually, I can, because I know you. You’re understanding, forgiving. And you never miss a trick.

[ Chuckles ] Now, johnny might not be too thrilled about that last part for the next few years, but he’ll know he can trust you to be his compass no matter what. That is a gift.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Well, let me see. When you put it that way…

[ Chuckles ]

Nate: So give the young man some space. Not so much that you start feeling anxious about what’s going on with him, but enough to give him some independence and feel trusted. Assuming you don’t have a reason to not trust him.

Victoria: That’s not the problem.

Nate: Okay. Well, then, giving him some space may be the best way to keep him from drifting too far away.

Victoria: Thank you. Thank you for this. It helped.

Nate: Anytime.

Billy: [ Sighing ]

Billy: Hi.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: I know we’re supposed to give each other some breathing room, but I really wanted to see you. Thanks for coming.

Lily: Yeah, yeah. Um, what’s this about?

Billy: Well, um, I know you’re busy, so I’ll just get straight to the point. We may be struggling badly, but I feel like our relationship is worth saving. And I want you to know that I’m gonna fight for you. For us. For everything that we have. I get bladder leaks.

Christine: We do need to stay in better touch.

Danny: Absolutely do.

Christine: Well, maybe paul and I can come to one of your concerts the next time you’re in town.

Danny: That’s funny you’d say that. I, uh — I have a concert tour date in chicago later in the year, and I already promised tickets to traci, lauren, and michael. We could, uh, make it a party?

Christine: Yeah. Sounds like a plan.

Danny: [ Sighs ] I got to get going, or I’m gonna miss my flight. I just wish we had more time.

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Is that your way of asking me to take you to the airport?

Danny: Well, I would never want to impose. But you did say you were free. And I — I feel there’s so much more to talk about.

Christine: So do I.

[ Sighs ] Looks like you’ve got yourself a ride.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Connor: Pizza this week with johnny?

Chelsea: Connor just asked…

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Chelsea: Can I take johnny and connor for pizza one night this week?

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: Johnny has too much homework. Sure. We’ll find a night that works for all.

Billy: I know I let you down. And our problems are more about my shortcomings than they are about us as a couple.

[ Sighs ] And I’m asking you for one more chance.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Anyway, I told you how I felt. You didn’t even put in the effort into trying to make things better. And I mean, that really hurt me. You know, it made me feel like my feelings didn’t matter to you.

Billy: I messed up, lily. And… I’m so sorry. And I’m going to do whatever it takes. I’ll go to couples therapy. I’ll go today. I’ll make an appointment today. Okay? I’ll do whatever I need to do, because I — I want to fight for our relationship. I want you with all my heart. We have come so far. We’ve been through so much. We can’t stop trying now.

Lily: [ Sighs ] You’re right.

[ Chuckles ] We owe it to ourselves to keep trying.

[ Sighs ]

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Lily: [ Sighs ]

GH Update Tuesday, January 3, 2023

General Hospital Updates

GH logo

Update written by Dustin

At Kelly’s, Dante and Sam enjoy a quiet New Year’s Eve celebration.

Dex walks in to Kelly’s.  Dante and Sam wish him a Happy New Year.  Dex wishes them the same.  Dante asks Dex how things are working for his father and asked if there is any “residual friction.”  Dex asks why would there be?  Dante tells Dex that he saw his wrists and Dex holds them up and says they are just fine.  Dante says that might be, but Michael was very detailed in his description of what Sonny had done to Dex.  Dante gives Dex the opportunity to amend his statement that Sonny had nothing to do with his injuries.  Dex says that will not be necessary.  He then says, “I guess I will skip the hot chocolate.”

Britt arrives on the dock and complains because her boat is not waiting to take her to the airport and far away from Port Charles.  She sees the fireworks display go off from Pier 47 and enjoys them.  She remarks how much she loves fireworks.  She recalls Liesl telling her that she never has to be alone.

Dante and Sam’s conversation then turns to whether or not Dante has compromised his badge by treating Sonny differently than he would any other perp.  Sam has finally had enough of the discussion and she asks Dante pointedly, if cops sometimes step away from cases because they have a personal interest in the outcome.  Dante says, all the time.  Sam says have you ever done that.  Dante says yes.  Sam says, have you ever done that in a case your father was involved in.  Dante says absolutely.  Sam finally says, then you haven’t compromised your badge, you have gone out of your way to make sure that your badge and your oath have not been compromised.

Nearby, the Hook takes a swing at Josslyn and she pushes him away and runs only to fall because she is wearing formal shoes.  The Hook approaches, Josslyn regains her footing and tries to run but the Hook takes another swipe at her, Josslyn, realizing that the Hook is a woman, tries to overpower her and grabs but gets pinned against the wall.  Josslyn screams, “HELP ME!!!!!” Josslyn and the killer struggle over the hook.  Once again, Josslyn breaks free, but the hook punches her in the stomach, and she collapses to the deck of the pier.  The hook approaches, and prepares to finish her.  However, before she can do anything, Britt knocks her down and screams, “back off bitch!”  The hook then focuses her attention on Britt, the killer swipes at Britt but Britt blocks her assault with her handbag.  The hook is able to free the weapon from the handbag and prepares to launch a final blow when she is shot by Dex.  The killer falls to the deck, but quickly rebounds and begins to run. Britt screams for Dex to shoot her again.  But, Dex rushes to Josslyn’s side and asks her if she is injured and if she can walk.  Britt sarcastically says, “I’m fine, Thanks.”  Britt removes her phone from her handbag to call the police but Dex asks her not to, at least until he and Josslyn have made their escape.

Maxie walks back into the Haunted Star and tells Liesl, “well, that’s it!”  Everyone has headed over to Pier 47 to the see the fireworks.  She says it was a good party if she does say so herself.  Liesl was thrilled that Maxie and Brad did so much for Britt.  Maxie says, “Please, Britt threw her own birthday party, Brad and I just assisted.”

Carly arrives framed in the doorway of the Haunted Star and asks if she missed the party.  She says she knew she was late but she didn’t think she was that late.  She feigns disappointment.

Liesl and Maxie reminisce about Nathan, Peter and Austin.  Liesl tells Maxie that Nathan was taken far too soon. Maxie remarks what a good man Nathan was.  He was the perfect provider, protector, husband, father and partner. Liesl says that Peter was a horrible person who wanted Maxie to only see the best.  She added that Austin was just not the right man for Maxie.  She agrees.

After they left the pier, Dex took Josslyn to his apartment. Dex poured them both a glass of scotch, and Josslyn said she owed Dex for having saved her and Britt’s lives. Dex said that Josslyn didn’t owe him anything.

Dex said that he had shot the killer with a gun that Sonny had given him. He also produced a shell casing, and he said there was no evidence to tie the gun back to Sonny.  “Anything to protect the boss, right?” Josslyn snapped. Dex grabbed her and said that he had prayed that Josslyn wouldn’t die when he found her on the docks. Dex added that he had been afraid that he would never get to kiss Josslyn again. The two kissed passionately and slowly began to undress.  The two then had sex on the couch in Dex’s apartment.

The police finally arrive and find Britt on the dock.  They initially don’t believe her claims when she says she was attacked by the Hook killer.  The police say they have had multiple hook sightings already.  Britt then coyly points to the actual Hook which is lying on the deck and asks the police if all the other posers left something like that behind.  The police then take her seriously and order more manpower be brought to bear on the pier and docks, and a perimeter be set up to keep anyone from getting in or out.  The police interrogate Britt.  Britt tells them she was on the dock waiting for a boat, when she heard a struggle and then a scream.  She says she responded and found a young woman in distress.  She tells the police she fought off the killer, and both the killer and the young woman escaped.  The police drill Britt, asking her a series of questions:  who was the victim, where is she, where did she go, was she injured, did she get a good look at the killer and in what direction did the killer run?  Britt tells the police that she doesn’t know.

Drew arrives at the Haunted Star this time, interrupting some tender recollections of Nathan between Maxie and Liesl.  Drew tells Liesl what a wonderful woman Britt is and that she should be so proud of her.  Liesl says that she is proud of her.

Carly and Drew met up on the pier. Drew asked Carly if she remembered where they were the previous New Year’s Eve? Carly said that they were on the bridge, both mourning Jason. Drew said that he was done focusing on the past and instead wanted to look to the future. Drew added that he saw a great future in Carly’s eyes. Carly returned Drew’s affections and they kissed. Drew produced a bottle of champagne and they shared a toast.

On the deck of the Haunted Star, Spencer and Trina stayed near each other — to give the appearance that they were turning to each other. Spencer was thrilled that Britt had such a wonderful party and he recalled the days when Britt was engaged to Nikolas.  He said that he loved the idea of her being his stepmother because she wasn’t maternal in any way and she said never talked down to him.

Spencer leaned in to kiss Trina. But before they could kiss, they were horrified when they saw an extremely pale Esme in the doorway. Spencer asked where she had been. Esme collapsed before she could answer. Spencer rushed to cover Esme and to check her pulse. Trina said, “she’s pregnant.” Spencer put his coat around Esme, and he said they needed to get Esme to GH.

At Wyndemere, Nikolas brought Elizabeth up to speed on Esme’s escape. Nikolas told Elizabeth that Esme had started a fire and that as he fought the fire she ran passed him and straight out onto the turret.  Elizabeth demanded to know where Esme was at that moment.  Nikolas told Elizabeth that she had gone over the parapet.  Elizabeth didn’t believe Nikolas, it was obvious in her eyes and demeanor.  Nikolas then swore that Esme had raised her hands and fell backwards into the water below.  Nikolas was so upset that Elizabeth realized he was telling the truth.  Nikolas told Esme that he had searched the house, the waters and the shore but there was no sign of her.

Elizabeth grew panicked over the crimes she had committed, but Nikolas said that there was no way she could survive that fall. Elizabeth was adamant that she wouldn’t continue to cover up the crimes that she and Nikolas had committed.

Elizabeth’s phone rang and she took the call, it was Spencer. Spencer told Elizabeth that he and Trina had found Esme on the deck of the Haunted Star. He told Elizabeth she was suffering from hypothermia and that the police had been called and she would soon be in police custody.  Elizabeth, held the phone away from her face and looked at Nikolas as if to say that both of their lives were over.

Later, Dante appeared at the hospital. Dante questioned Spencer and Trina about Esme’s appearance. Elizabeth and Nikolas stepped off the elevator. Dante asked why they had come to the hospital. Spencer explained that since Esme had assaulted Elizabeth that he had called her to let her know that Esme was at GH.  Nikolas said that he had been with Elizabeth at the time she got the call.

A doctor emerged from Esme’s room in the ER and Dante identified himself and asked if he could have access to Esme’s room to question her. In Esme’s room, the doctor gave Dante a bag of Esme’s belongings which included a Christmas tree ornament. Dante asked Esme if she could tell him what had happened to her.  She seemed to attempt to speak but she was still shivering too violently to speak.

Later, on the docks, the hook reappeared from out of the frigid water, revealing a gash on her right wrist. The attacker took off her mask, revealing the Hook killer to be Heather Webber.

Back inside the Haunted Star, as Liesl was singing “Happy Birthday”, Britt reappeared and sang the last line – altering the words. Britt said that she had far too many reasons to stay in Port Charles than to leave.  She and Liesl poured themselves a toast of champagne, but before they could drink.  Liesl noticed that Britt’s dress was torn and then quickly thereafter inquired, “are you bleeding?”  Britt didn’t answer and headed toward one of the couches, as she got closer to the couch, she became woozy and then finally collapsed to the floor.

Tucker: [Sighs]

[Feet stomping] Hello.

[Door closes]

Ashley: Don’t you think this is a little much?

Tucker: Well, you know I like to go big.

Jack: Well, thank you for sparing us the helicopter this time.

Tucker: Oh, well, my sleigh is out front.

[Laughing] Hope you don’t mind my dropping by. I got presents for everyone in the family.

Ashley: Aww, that’s very generous of you.

Jack: And quite unnecessary.

Tucker: I realize that.

Jack: Well, we don’t have anything for you under our tree.

Tucker: I wouldn’t expect that. Uh, no, I just got a little caught up in the spirit of the season, you know, the joy in giving and not receiving and all that.

Traci: Well, thank you so much, Tucker, for the gifts. If you had hoped to hand-deliver something to Dominic, I’m sorry — [Chuckles] I’m sorry, but they’ve already gone.

Tucker: Oh, no, that’s okay. I’m gonna see Dominic later at DeVon’s. Um, which means my day is free. And I was hoping maybe you would agree to have lunch with me? Although I don’t want to impose on any Abbott family time here.

Ashley: Not at all. I mean, well, we’re having a very quiet Christmas, so… yeah, I would actually really like to get out of the house. Let’s go. Bye, you guys.

Tucker: Okay. See ya. Merry Christmas.

******************************

Tucker: I guess we should have called ahead.

Ashley: I should have known it was closed today, considering my daughter owns the place. I just assumed Abby was leaving the staff in charge, though.

Tucker: Let’s just go somewhere else.

Ashley: All the good places are probably booked, don’t you think? Uh, there might be another way, though, that we can have lunch here.

Tucker: Should we break in?

Ashley: Oh, good idea. No. I think —

[Keys jangle] I think I’ve got a key. Abby gave it to me in case of an emergency, and I don’t think she’d mind if we use the kitchen if we promise to clean up.

Tucker: Aren’t you full of surprises.

Ashley: Yes. I keep you on your toes.

Tucker: Yes, you do.

[Keys jangling]

Ashley: [Gasps] Yay! My most important kitchen tool?

Chelsea: I think you’re on the right track! Keep at it.

Connor: Trying to save eggs from breaking is a lame way to spend New Year’s Eve. Can’t I just use the one in the closet?

Chelsea: How did you know about that?

Connor: I was looking for more bubble wrap, and there it was — a completely done egg-drop device. I figured you’d made it in case mine didn’t work.

Chelsea: Wrong. Billy and I just got carried away playing with the art supplies and were testing out your new project. You will be handing in your own schoolwork.

Connor: Fine. Be that way.

Chelsea: [Laughing] You’ll thank me later.

Connor: Billy’s cool, isn’t he?

Chelsea: He can be

Traci: Okay. Here. We’ll get you one of these, too, okay?

Danny: Oh, please.

Traci: [Laughs] Oh, my gosh. There we go. So, how long are you here for?

Danny: Uh, well, I’m afraid it’s a short visit between tour dates, yeah. In fact, I’m staying here and just came down to grab a glass of champagne for New Year’s Eve.

Traci: I am so glad you did.

Danny: You look fabulous.

Traci: [Laughs]

Danny: Tell me. Alright, come on. How’s life treating you? I want to know everything. Don’t hold back.

Traci: Oh!

Danny: You’re holding back. Come on!

Traci: No, I’m just —

Danny: What?

Traci: I’m just marveling at you, at us, how we just sort of fall back into sync, just like we always did, you know?

Lauren: Wait a minute. What’s going on here? Are you two getting the band back together without me?

[Laughter]

Traci: Oh, my gosh! What are the chances?

Danny: We’ve been thinking about it
