Brady and Theresa on "Days of Our Lives" on Peacock

Maybe it’s just us, but Brady seemed as if he was jealous of Theresa going after Alex. There is nothing keeping Brady from being with Theresa! He listed Theresa’s evil deeds to Alex when he was telling him why he wasn’t going to be with her. This is the same man who was willing to overlook Kristen’s actions when he was with her. Theresa has done her fair share of things, but nothing compared to Kristen.

Does Xander have selective hearing? When Sarah had the baby, she told him the baby was his. He acted as if he didn’t hear that once she got to the hospital. Sarah needs to feel like dirt keeping the truth from him about the baby. We understand that she doesn’t want him near the baby, but he has a right to know that he has a child.

Wasn’t it convenient that Chanel suddenly realized she suppressed her feelings for Johnny? She was more than willing to be with Talia, but after her conversation with Paulina, she suddenly wants to be with Johnny. We know the writers had to do something, since Talia is leaving the show, but Chanel should have at least been showing signs of wanting to be with him.

Johnny and Chanel told each other that they never stopped loving each other. Did Johnny forget that he was just in love with Wendy? It’s funny how easily they can tell each other how they feel now.

Are the writers trying to pull the wool over our eyes? Is Susan really alive, or is Ava seeing things? Ava was convinced that Charlie was alive because he was visiting her. How do we know she isn’t doing the same thing with Susan? If Susan is alive, why wouldn’t she reach out to EJ or Johnny? It doesn’t make sense for her to visit Ava.

Talia has no loyalty to Belle. She couldn’t wait to kiss Shawn. Talia would probably be in prison if it weren’t for Belle, yet the first chance she got she hooked up with Shawn. We know she was drunk, but that is no excuse to kiss Belle’s husband (or worse).

Primetime TV Review: Come Fly with Me

TV Review!

“Come Fly with Me” Review on by Eva 9/20/2023

This movie is about a single mom, Emma (Heather Hemmens), who moves to Las Vegas to train with the Air Force Thunderbirds. Emma meets a widower named Paul (Niall Matter) who is also a single father. Emma and Paul meet when their daughters Lucy (Pietra Castro) and Alice (Georgia Aken). The girls notice the chemistry between Paul and Emma and, since the girls want to become sisters, they make a plan to get their parents together.

This movie was filmed in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Defense which provided beautiful footage of airplanes in flight. This movie has three important messages about love, friendship, and organ donation. I would have liked it if they would have concentrated a little bit more on the organ donation part of the story, but I enjoyed that this movie was a little different than the Hallmark movie formula. It is definitely worth watching and if you miss the movie, Hallmark Movies and Mysteries will repeat it several times; just check your DVR guide or the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries website.

I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.

EJ and Johnny on "Days of Our Lives" on Peacock

EJ was suddenly thinking of Susan. He basically forgot about her all this time. Now that Ava is back he is suddenly thinking about her. He wasn’t ready to get revenge on Ava before she came back and now he has become obsessed with making her pay for Susan’s death. He also wanted to get revenge on Xander for not going after Ava. Being a new father hasn’t changed him at all.

Why would Theresa come back to Salem without Tate? Victor was his great grandfather so it didn’t make sense that she didn’t bring him with her to the funeral. She claimed he had school, but she still should have brought him to the funeral. Rachel should be in school, but no one has mentioned her being in school. It was an excuse not to have Brady be around his son. We were surprised he even remembered Tate’s name since he hasn’t seen him in years.

Brady clearly hasn’t been seeing Tate over the years because he and Theresa were talking about what she did with Xander as if it happened yesterday. We understand they had to use exposition to let new fans and remind longtime fans of their history, but it didn’t make sense that they are just now having a conversation about it.

Theresa and Xander talked about their relationship woes. How did Theresa know about Xander’s relationship with Sarah? Theresa wasn’t in Salem when Sarah was with Xander. Who was keeping Theresa up-to-date about Xander and Sarah’s relationship?

Nicole needs to make up her mind about who Chloe should be with. One minute Nicole wanted her to be with Brady, and now she wants her to be with Philip. Nicole must want Chloe to be indecisive about the man in her life the same way she is. It was obvious that Nicole’s advice was about her own life and not Chloe’s. Nicole is the one who can’t make up her mind about her love life. We loved how Chloe called Nicole out for her hypocritical advice.

Why would Johnny defend Ava to EJ? Did Johnny forget that Ava killed his grandmother? Johnny tried to downplay Ava’s actions by mentioning her mental issues. We know Johnny had a soft spot for her once upon a time, but it doesn’t change what she did to his grandmother.

Why would Harris risk his life to go on the run with Ava? He doesn’t know her very well, so why risk his freedom for her? Is he starting to fall for her? That would be the only explanation for why he would choose to go on the run with her.

Why didn’t the writers find a way to bring Victor and Maggie’s families to Salem for his funeral? It didn’t make sense for them to be missing. Where were Melanie, Ciara and Claire? If they couldn’t get the same actresses to play them, they could have recast them.

How many times is John’s story going to change? It has changed several times. The writers don’t seem to be able to decide who he is going to be. They will probably end up changing his paternity once again.

Victor's Funeral on "Days of Our Lives" on Peacock

Monday

-EJ was suddenly dreaming about Susan dying. He wasn’t thinking about her before.

-EJ was able to find out where Xander and Chloe live. He has no reason to know about that.

-Theresa has been gone for years, but she is still in love with Brady.

-Theresa didn’t bring Tate with her for the funeral because he had school. Even if he’s back in school, they would have let him have time off for a death in the family.

Tuesday

-Sarah looked at her ring as if Rex just put it on her finger.

-It was daytime when Xander and Theresa saw each other, but it was nighttime in this episode.

-If Ava didn’t kill Susan, why was she seeing her face? She didn’t have to haunt her if she didn’t do anything to her.

-Who was keeping Theresa informed about what was going on in Salem? She knew too much about Xander’s relationship with Sarah and Chloe.

Wednesday

-Where did Talia get the money to change her hair? Speaking of hair, Chanel also managed to change her hairstyle.

-Jada suggested that she and Rafe go to his house. If they went to his house before, they wouldn’t have gotten caught.

-Why would Johnny defend Ava to EJ? Did he forget that Ava killed his grandmother?

Thursday

– Ciara was too far along to go to Victor’s funeral but Chelsea wasn’t. They were pregnant around the same time, yet Ciara couldn’t make it to the funeral.

– Why didn’t Will come with Sonny to Victor’s funeral?

– Why didn’t Claire come back for Victor’s funeral?

-Brady and Justin were sitting in the front row, but Philip was behind them at Victor’s funeral.

Friday

-Maggie can be heard talking while Sarah was shown.

-John didn’t go to Victor’s funeral. He had a relationship with Victor because of Isabella, so he should have been there.

Why I think Days is Ridiculous 2023

Opinion Article

Random Rant by Jonathan Massey Moss

Leo (Kevin Rikaart) and Susan (Stacy Haiduk) on "Days of Our Lives' on Peacock

They just revealed that Susan Banks is alive. I’m not surprised – nobody dies in Salem! I doubted her death from day one. Some people hate her, but I find her hilarious. Some people also hate Leo, but I also find him hilarious. He has the funniest lines. I don’t care about the Dimitri triangle, but I guess he and Leo are well-suited. It’s obvious Dimitri will lose out on the money.

I don’t like Alex; he’s very annoying. I liked him much better when he was having casual flings – at least people don’t normally do that on the soaps. Perhaps Abby will return alive just before Chad and Stephanie get married…. that would be fun!

I am thankful the story line with Nurse Nuts and Abe is gone – that plot was tortuous. Speaking of tortuous, I liked the idea of Theresa coming back, but her character has been just annoying so far. It’s been a decade, so couldn’t she find someone else by now?

The residents of Salem have quite a few secrets. I’m not sure why they bother keeping them because they always come out. Salemites must have memories like goldfish.

I would hate to be Sloane when EJ finds out the baby isn’t his. Such a shame. I think Nichole and EJ are better suited. Wendy and Tripp are pretty boring, but it’s a good excuse for Lucas Adams to be shirtless. Xander and Chloes romance is obviously doomed – why are we even bothering with them?

Sonny is back, but what about Will? Oh, great, now I sound like some ridiculous fan whining about casting decisions…one of those who doesn’t realize that the showjust can’t afford lots of returnees.

People on social media were upset that Victor died in a plane crash instead of in his sleep. I don’t know what difference this makes, he’s dead either way. I did like Victor, though… he was funny and is already missed. RIP John.

Does Days Still Have a Future?

Opinion Article

by Suzanne

Days of Our Lives older actors 2023

In March, the streaming service Peacock renewed “Days of Our Lives” for two more years, which means the show will make it to its 60th Anniversary. The question is, will it last beyond that? There are many factors that put the show in jeopardy. Mind you, we hope the show is around a good long time.  We’re not optimistic, however.

The show has been on a small budget for a very long time. NBC canceled it a few years back, but they moved it to their streaming site. This was a calculated move to bring its aging audience into the world of streaming (and hopefully introduce it to younger fans).  Peacock invested some money in it, I believe, at first, but I think it’s back to being low-budget now.  One of the ways they save money is by rotating their huge cast. Certain characters come and go all the time (such as Will and Sonny) or are hardly seen (Tony and Anna).  Fans are used to this by now, even though it can be frustrating when our favorites are not given much story.

The large cast has quite a number of senior actors (see above), from a relatively-young Judi Evans (Bonnie) at age 59, to Bill Hayes (Dough) at age 98, as well as a few in their 50’s (Eric Martsolf, Stacy Haiduk, Steve Burton, Galen Gering, Greg Vaughan, Tamara Braun, and the sometimes-seen Bryan Dattilo). This isn’t even to mention the myriad over-50 actors that occasionally come and go, such as Eileen Davidson (Susan/Kristen), Kassie DePaiva (Eve), Lisa Rinna (Billie), Kristen Alfonso (Hope), Alison Sweeney (Sami), Cady McClain (Jenn), Kyle Lowder (Rex) and others…

John Aniston (Victor), who was 89, passed away at the end of last year.  We hope no one else leaves us any time soon, but it’s sort of inevitable that will probably happen in the next 5 years or so.  If the actors on the show, and their fans, die out, then what will happen to the show?  Sure, there are younger actors, but what is “Days of Our Lives” without Marlena (Deidre Hall, age 75) or Maggie (Suzanne Rogers, age 80)?  Can actors like Robert Sean Wilson (Alex) and Abigail Klein (Stephanie) be the next John and Marlena or Steve and Kayla? We may find out.

The other age-related problem is that the show doesn’t seem to offer contracts to many of their younger cast members, which is probably why they lose so many of them, such as Kate Mansi, Marci Miller, Victoria Konefal, Freddie Smith, Lamon Archey, and Camila Banus.  There are other reasons young people leave as well, such as wanting to try their hand in movies or primetime.

The show was originally a more serious soap, but in the 80’s (like many other daytime soaps), they had a lot of wild stories. Then they became a more serious soap for a while, and they’ve been up and down ever since. Since their move to Peacock, the stories have been pretty out there. I think this is part of the reason that it had lower ratings than the other soaps. It’s hard to take a show seriously when they have stories about demonic possession, people constantly coming back from the dead, psychic powers and more.  I don’t think anyone would want the show to go back to when it was boring, but it would be nice if there were a little more realism.  On the other hand, they have had some great groundbreaking stories dealing with mental illness and gay romance. Also, the show has added more three-dimensional characters of color with the addition of Li and Wendy, as well as Paulina’s family. And most importantly, they’ve given Abe a lot more to do.

Another thing they’ve improved over time is having more “love in the afternoon,” even if some people don’t approve of the more suggestive love-making scenes, as they had with the threesome between Allie, Alex and Chanel. They have many great kissing scenes (and suggestive bedroom scenes) among all of the cast, which is nice to see because it adds some realism and gives us a nice break from the outrageous or dramatic stories.  There is also a lot of humor in the show, and that credit goes to head writer Ron Carlivati.

This week they brought on 97-year-old Dick Van Dyke as a character with amnesia, which is an interesting mystery storyline. He also did a little song-and-dance with Doug and Julie, which was very fun. I don’t think Van Dyke will be on the show for very long, which is too bad. I think he’s brought new life into the show, and it would be nice to see more. I don’t mind “stunt casting,” which soaps do a lot of, as long as they are fun to watch.

There are definitely positives to the show being on streaming, including the fact that they never have to show a re-run or be impacted by daytime news interruptions.  However, they may have lost many fans who refuse to pay for Peacock Plus or Premium, or who don’t want to watch the show on their computer or phone.

One thing that’s disturbing is that the show recently got rid of its publicist and her publicity department.  This was probably a cost-cutting measure, but it seems pretty extreme to me.  None of the other soaps have done this. It makes me wonder what else they’re going to cut.

If you read about the show, you’ve no doubt heard about its recent scandal involving one of the producers. They fired him, but it sounds like they should have done that quite some time ago. Let’s hope it doesn’t have any further negative impact on the show.

Unfortunately, all TV networks are having problems financially now because there are just too many of them, and they not only have to compete with each other, but with video games, movies and other internet fun. There is a strike going on right now between the actors, writers and the big corporations that run the networks. What effect this will have on the daytime soaps and their future, we don’t know.

All we can do is keep watching and hope the show sticks around for many more years!

Primetime TV Review: Learning to Love

TV Review!

Picture #1 Here

“Learning to Love” Review on by Eva 9/4/2023

Learning to Love is the first movie in the Great American Autumn movies from Great American Family network. Ever week a new movie will be shown every Saturday until the middle of October.

The movie is about Harry Carlton (Philip Boyd) who is dealing with the death of his wife and having to raise his two daughters while working as an architect. Harry has hired several tutors for his daughters, but the tutors have never gotten along well with them. Harry meets Stephanie Miller (Ina Barron) who accidentally arrives at his office thinking she is there for an interview with an advertising agency but after talking to Harry for a few minutes she finds out the advertising agency is on another floor. The interview with the advertising agency doesn’t work out because Stephanie arrives late and without a resume because she left the resume in Harry’s office. Harry offers Stephanie the job as a tutor because Stephanie was a teacher before she worked in advertising.

I really enjoyed watching this movie, it was funny and sweet and Philip Boyd and Ina Barron had wonderful chemistry together and you are really hoping that they become a couple and get their happy ending. Harry’s daughters Rosa (Caroline Skye) and Bella (Zoe Willis). do a wonderful job and are really believable as sisters who love their dad and want the best for him.

I give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars. If you miss the movie or forget to set your DVR, the movie will rerun on Great American Family or it will stream on pureflix.com.

Review of “The Flash: The Ninth and Final Season” [Blu-ray]

DVD Review!

THE FLASH: THE NINTH AND FINAL SEASON Blu-Ray DVD cover

The Flash: The Ninth and Final Season” Review by Suzanne 8/22/23

This is one of my favorite TV series, and I’m still in mourning that it ended. However, this season was so great that it almost makes up for it. I just wish the whole series had been as good as season 9. The writing was excellent this whole season, and they really pandered to long time fans (in a good way) by bringing back so many favorite characters like Hartley and Wally (but not Ralph, unfortunately), as well as other Arrowverse characters (especially Oliver). It would have been really nice to see Kara again, though.

The only drawback to the DVD is that there aren’t enough features. There is just the gag reel, some deleted scenes, and an entertaining featurette, “The Flash: The Saga of the Scarlett Speedster,” which is about the legacy of “The Flash” from comic books and TV series (it oddly never mentions the movies). I guess we’ll have to buy the complete series set to get more.

“The Flash” Season 9 delivers an exhilarating and satisfying conclusion to the beloved series, taking fans on an emotional rollercoaster through time, alternate realities, and the very essence of heroism. With a gripping narrative, impressive character development, and the return of familiar faces, this season proves to be a worthy and thrilling final chapter.

The ninth season kicks off with a bang, as Barry Allen faces off against a trio of formidable adversaries: Red Death, Bloodwork, and Cobalt Blue. The stakes are higher than ever as Barry navigates through time loops, alternate timelines, and his own past mistakes. The writers skillfully weave together complex storylines that keep viewers engaged and invested in the characters’ fates.

One of the standout aspects of this season is the exploration of destiny and choice. Barry’s struggle with fate versus free will is beautifully portrayed as he grapples with the idea that some events are predetermined while others are shaped by his decisions. This theme resonates not only with Barry’s journey but also with the overall conclusion of the Arrowverse, creating a profound sense of closure for fans who have followed these characters for years.

The return of familiar faces, including Jay Garrick and Eddie Thawne, adds a nostalgic layer to the season, tying up loose ends and providing heartfelt moments of reflection. The interactions between characters, especially the poignant moments between Barry and Eddie, tug at the heartstrings and remind us of the deep connections that have been built over the course of the series.

The action sequences are as electrifying as ever, showcasing Barry’s super-speed in creative and visually stunning ways. The battles against the season’s antagonists are epic and well-choreographed, creating moments of suspense and awe. The use of the Negative Speed Force as a central plot element adds a unique and intriguing dimension to the superhero dynamics.

The character growth throughout the season is commendable, particularly for supporting characters like Chester and Allegra, who step into their own as heroes. The relationships between characters are given the spotlight, leading to heartwarming resolutions and growth that feel earned and authentic.

The narrative structure, divided into “Graphic Novel” storyline arcs, keeps the pacing engaging and the momentum flowing. Each arc contributes to the overarching plot while also delving into character-driven moments, ensuring a well-rounded viewing experience.

In its final episodes, the season delivers a powerful message about legacy and the impact of a hero’s choices. The decision to introduce new speedsters in the closing moments of the series not only encapsulates the essence of “The Flash” but also leaves the door open for future stories and possibilities.

Overall, “The Flash” Season 9 is a captivating and emotional journey that celebrates the show’s legacy while delivering a fitting and memorable conclusion. With its intricate storytelling, exceptional character development, and pulse-pounding action, this season is a must-watch for fans of the series and the Arrowverse as a whole.

Primetime TV Review: Battle of the Decades

TV Review!

“Battle of the Decades” Review on by Eva 8/17/2023

This show is a nostalgic look at different decades of cooking starting with the year 2002.

Two chefs from different generations team up to cook. In the first round, the teams have to cook a classic dish using gadgets and ingredients from the year assigned to them. The second round sees the chefs putting their spin on a dish that is viral on the internet. One team is eliminated in each round. The remaining team of two is split up and the two chefs who were once a team put their modern spin on a classic dish. The show has three judges from different generations. The winning chef wins $10,000. The show is hosted by amiable former “All My Children” star and Hallmark movie vet Jonathan Bennett.

The show is fun to watch because the show includes classic commercials, as well as trivia questions from the year which the episode is focused on.

The show airs on the Food Network on Mondays and can be streamed on Max. I give the show 5 out of 5 stars.

Primetime TV Review: Superfan

TV Review!

“Superfan” Review on by Eva 8/14/2023

Superfan is hosted by Nate Burleson (CBS Morning) and Keltie Knight (E! News correspondent).

The first episode featured Superfans of rapper and actor LL Cool J. The contestants play several different trivia games that test how much they know about LL Cool J and, after each round, one contestant is eliminated. The final round has two contestants, and the winner of the show is chosen by the home audience via Twitter voting. The winner of the show gets a day with LL Cool J in which they get backstage passes to his concert, exclusive concert merchandise, and access to one of his recording sessions. The show will feature different stars over seven of the remainder of its eight-episode first season.

In my opinion the show has a lot of problems, the major one is its too boring and slow. The show would be much better if they would just play trivia games to eliminate contestants and get rid of the Twitter vote at the end, there is no need for it.

The other problem is they have two hosts. This game show doesn’t need two hosts. If you have insomnia this show will put you to sleep. The only thing that I like about this show is that the star that is featured in the episode sings a song.

I give this show a 2 out of 5 you can watch the show on CBS or stream it on Paramount+.

“Worst Cooks in America:  Love at First Bite” Review on by Eva 8/8/2023

Season 26 of Worst Cooks in America has Chef Ann Burrell and Chef Jeff Mauro teaching a group of sixteen boot camp recruits how to cook. The twist this season is that all the recruits are single and want to learn how to cook so they can find a significant other.

I enjoy watching the show because I like watching the contestants become better cooks each week. I do, however, recommend that the first two weeks you eat before you watch the show because after you watch the food they make, you may not want to eat for a few hours.

This year the Blue Team and the Red Team, known as the Rocking Red Stars, are divided into pairs and the winning pair that cooks a restaurant quality meal will win $ 25,000.

I like this show because it is fun to watch and you get attached to the contestants and want them to learn how to cook. The show lasts 8 episodes and can be streamed on Max.

I give this show 5 out of 5 stars.

Days Opinion Article 12/22/22

Opinion Article

Victor and Maggie in "Days of Our Lives" on Peacock

This is another wonderful week ending for Days. The past year has shown many changes to the show, and many characters have left. First there were Ben and Ciara, who are sailing the world with their son. Then Abigail was killed off, which for some viewers was very sad, since many fans have grown up with Abigail. Then Jake was killed off, and his brother Stefan returned from the dead. Susan Banks was also killed off. Of course, the saddest is that John Aniston will not be back, due to his real-life death.

Relationships in Salem don’t last very long, and some of the characters are being blamed for their actions. Nicole is a very fickle character and forever changing her men, like some people change their toothbrush. Eric is into the blaming game and does not really want to take responsibility for his own actions. He chose to be with Jada, even though he was still in love with Nicole. He blamed Nicole for Jada’s choice in ending her pregnancy. Brady’s decision to break-up with Chole was due to Kristen blackmailing him because of the Orchid she has in her possession, which would save Marlena, Kate and Kayla. This leaves viewers to believe that he is passive and fearful of psycho Kristen (a woman he loved, not too long ago.

The only real love relationship in Days lately is with Alex and Stephanie (both fairly new actors/characters). They bring a new breath of fresh air to bloom. With the New Year, viewers would appreciate seeing more lasting love relationships that are stable, and more family involvement. Also, many old time viewers want Days to be brought back to NBC. With the rising prices and inflation, it’s very hard for many to pay for the long-time soap that they’ve been so loyal and devoted to. Either way, let’s hope for a great year for the show!

Primetime TV Review: Lopez VS. Lopez

TV Review!

“Lopez VS. Lopez” Review on by Eva 11/6/2022

George Lopez returns to television with a show loosely based on his real life. George plays a man who lost his construction business and his house because of the pandemic. George moves in with his daughter Mayan (played by his real-life daughter Mayan Lopez). The relationship between George and his daughter is strained and Mayan goes to therapy to deal with the issues she has because her parents got divorced, and the fact that her father was not around much growing up. George is hoping to build a relationship with his daughter by remodeling her kitchen. George makes a tik tok video to tell Mayan he is broke and homeless so Mayan and her husband let George move into their house to live with them. Mayan and George must adjust to living with each other and while this show sounds like a drama it is a comedy.

The show is funny with most of the laughs coming from Mayan Lopez who is very funny. The show highlights how different generations can learn from each other it also has some touching moments. The show begins what NBC calls its Friday night comedy hour which is followed by Young Rock. If you want to laugh you will enjoy this show it is worth watching although I am not sure how well it will do on Friday nights.

The rest of the cast other than George and Mayan needs time to find their rhythm.

I give this show a 4 out of 5 stars.

Primetime TV Review: Alaska Daily

TV Review!

“Alaska Daily” Review on by Eva 10/9/2022

I wasn’t going to watch this show until I saw some television interviews with the star of the show Hilary Swank (Eileen Fitzgerald) where she spoke about the show so I decided to watch it.

I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed the show, it is well written and had my attention from the first minute I pushed play on my DVR recording of the show. I always pick out some new shows tie watch every television season but it takes me a few episodes to like new shows and sometimes, after a few episodes, I stop watching the show because I don’t enjoy it anymore. It is very rare that a show grabs me from the first minute.

Swank plays Eileen Fitzgerald, a New York reporter who is working on a big story trying to expose a possible presidential appointee before the president gives the man a big job in the State Department. Eileen’s source for the story is discredited by what she believes are highly placed government officials who don’t want the story to come out. Eileen doesn’t want to rewrite the story like her boss wants her to do. So, she quits her job and decides to write a book exposing the truth about the presidential appointee. Eileen is then contacted by a former boss, Stanley Kornik (Jeff Perry) who wants her to come work for The Daily Alaskan and help him investigate a story about some missing indigenous women who after some time were found dead. Eileen takes the job and with the help of the young reporters at the paper begins to investigate the story.

I really enjoyed this show because I enjoy mysteries, and I want to find out who killed these women. I also enjoyed the mentor relationship that the character of Eileen has with the young newspaper reporters although she doesn’t want to be a mentor, but that is the role she takes on because the young reporters look up r her and appreciate her experience.

I think this show is worth watching and if you missed the first episode you can watch it on Hulu or ABC I give this show 5 out of 5 stars.

Primetime TV Review: So Help Me Todd

TV Review!

“So Help Me Todd” Review on by Eva 10/2/2022

I decided to watch this show because I saw commercials for it. I thought it was a comedy, but CBS calls it a drama. I think the show is an even mix of both comedy and drama. The show is about Todd Wright (Skylar Astin) who lost his detective license when his partner and detective agency framed him forgery and illegal wiretapping.

Joan Wright (Marsha Gay Harden) has been trying to help Todd get back on his feet, but she thinks that he should quit being a private detective. Todd’s mother, Margaret, needs Todd’s help investigating a case for her law firm, and is impressed at how good Todd at his job so, she gets him his detective license back, so he can be the investigator for her law firm while her investigator is on maternity leave.

I enjoyed watching the innovative way Todd solves cases, and the complicated relationships between him and his mother. If you like lawyer shows with some comedy you will enjoy this show.

The show airs on Thursday nights after Ghosts and if you missed the pilot you can watch it on the show’s official website or on Paramount Plus. I give this show 5 out of 5 stars.

Primetime TV Review: The Rookie: Feds

TV Review!

“The Rookie: Feds” Review on by Eva 9/28/2022

The Rookie: Feds is a spinoff of The Rookie and follows the career change of former guidance counselor turned FBi agent Simone Clark (Niece Nash-Betts). Simone is the oldest rookie in the FBI and now must prove herself to everyone on the special FBI task force where she is assigned to work. Simone doesn’t always follow the rules relying more on her life experience and her instincts in order to solve cases. Special Agent Carter Hope (James Lesure) a by the book agent who is in charge of training Simone which is hard for him because Simone doesn’t often listen to what he tells her to do.

The first episode started a little slow since they had to introduce the characters in the cast so it didn’t draw me into the episode right away but it got better towards the middle of the episode. The show also has a great sense of humor which fans of The Rookie will enjoy because the show doesn’t take itself as seriously as other police dramas which makes it fun to watch. I hope that in future episodes the show won’t start off as slowly and I will get to know the characters and enjoy watching them. I think it will also be fun to watch the cross overs with The Rookie and to see those characters helping out the Fed team.

I give this show a 4 out of5 stars. If you missed the first episode, you can stream it on Hulu or on the ABC app. I think fans of The Rookie will enjoy this show but I am not sure if it can attract viewers that don’t watch The Rookie.

Primetime TV Review: Celebrity Jeopardy

TV Review!

“Celebrity Jeopardy” Review on by Eva 9/28/2022

I was interested in watching this, show because I wanted to see if celebrities are smart or if they, are good entertainers There are 27 celebrities in this tournament and the ultimate winner gets $ 1 million for their charity .

In my opinion the questions are a bit easier than the daytime Jeopardy game, but it is a tournament for charity, so I am not bothered by the easier questions. One interesting change for this version of jeopardy is that they have a triple jeopardy round since then show is an hour long rather than the thirty-minute version in the daytime show. The winner of the game goes on to the semifinal game while the non-winners get $30, 000 for their charity.

If you like Jeopardy, you will enjoy this show and if you aren’t a Jeopardy watcher you might like this tournament because it is a bit less serious than the daytime show. Mayim Bialik hosts the tournament that airs on ABC on Sunday nights and streams the next day on Hulu or the ABC app.

I give this show 5 out of 5stars because I like it better than the daytime show.

Primetime TV Review: Monarch

TV Review!

“Monarch” Review on by Eva 9/13/2022

I decided to watch Monarch after I saw some video clips of the show which made me think that it was going to be a nighttime soap opera. While I really enjoy daytime soaps, I also enjoy nighttime soaps if they are good and Monarch is very good.

The show centers around the first family of country music the Roman family, which seems like a family who is living the American dream, but behind closed doors everyone in the family is hiding secrets.

The Matriarch of the family is Dottie Roman (Susan Sarandon) who is facing a battle with cancer and how she handles that battle with cancer will leave a lasting impact on her family especially her daughter Nicolette “Nicky” Roman. Dottie’s husband Albie Roman (Trace Atkins) loves his wife, children, and singing but he hates the business side of the music industry. Albie and Dottie will do whatever they have to do to protect their family image as the first family of country music.

The show premiered its first episode on Sunday, September 11, 2022, but will debut in its regular time slot on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 9 PM Eastern time 8 PM Central time on Fox.

If you missed the first episode it is worth going to ABC.com or Hulu to watch it. This show is full of twists and turns that keep viewers guessing what will happen next and gives you the classic soap staple the cliff hanger. The first episode is full of classic country song covers, but the show also plans to have original country songs in it.

I give this show 5 out of 5 stars and I will be watching it every week.

Primetime TV Review: “Generation Gap”

TV Review!

“Generation Gap” Review on ABC by Eva 7/8/2022

I am so glad summer is here because ABC has its summer game shows return to the network. The latest entry into the summer game show line up for ABC is Generation Gap. As the name implies, it highlights the gap between the older generation and the younger generation.

The object of the game is to find out how much trivia the younger generation knows about the older generation and vice versa. Kelly Rippa asks the teams trivia questions over several rounds of play and the team with the most money goes home with the cash and a special bonus prize. The teams are made up of grandparents and grandchildren or aunts and uncles with their nieces and nephews. The most fun part for me is laughing at the wrong answers that are given to the questions because you just can’t help yourself.
