“Swing Into Romance” Review on by Eva 10/9/2023

This movie is the last in the Great American Autumn series of Saturday night movies from the Great American Family Channel.

In this movie Danica McKellar plays Christine Sims, a former competitive Ballroom dancer who returns home to visit her parents and discovers that her parents may have to close their general store because they owe money on their bank loan. Christine decides to enter a ballroom dance competition because, if she wins first place, the money could help pay her parents debt to the bank for a year. Christine needs to find a partner because she broke up with her fiancée and former dance partner Alex (Dancing with the Stars pro Gleb Savchenko). Christine meets Mathew (David Haydn-Jones) and they become friends so, he offers to be Christine’s dance partner.

I really enjoyed this movie since I have watched Dancing with the Stars for a long time. Gleb did a wonderful job in his acting debut. If you like Dancing with the Stars, you will enjoy the dance sequences in this movie. Danica McKellar has wonderful chemistry with both her leading men and the movie is fun to watch.

If you missed the movie, check your DVR guide for the next airing or stream the movie on pureflix.com.

Primetime TV Review: A Harvest Homecoming

TV Review!

“A Harvest Homecoming” Review on by Eva 10/9/2023

A Harvest Homecoming is part of Great American Autumn movies series, from Great American Family Channel, which airs a fall-themed movie every Saturday night.

The movie centers around Drew Clark (Trevor Donavan) a substitute teacher who comes home to his hometown of Chestnut Hollow, Texas to substitute teach for a few weeks. Drew meets Aiden Ross (Luxton Hand) and his mother Lainie Ross (Jessica Lowndes) who help Drew realize how much he has missed his family. Drew’s parents have an apple orchard and cider mill which Lainie helps Drew’s parents to manage.

This movie was very sweet and funny. I enjoyed it very much. The second story in the movie involved Drew’s Grandpa Joe (Roger Dunn) trying to impress Miss Francine (Eve Crawford). I have to say that this was my favorite story in the movie.

Trevor Donovan and Jessica Lowndes have great chemistry together as a couple and you root for them to get together. Trevor Donovan even sings a song he wrote called Fields of Gold for the movie.

I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars. If you missed the movie, check your DVR guide because Great American Family channel airs their movies several times. You can also stream this movie on pureflix.com.

Primetime TV Review: Learning to Love

Picture #1 Here

“Learning to Love” Review on by Eva 9/4/2023

Learning to Love is the first movie in the Great American Autumn movies from Great American Family network. Ever week a new movie will be shown every Saturday until the middle of October.

The movie is about Harry Carlton (Philip Boyd) who is dealing with the death of his wife and having to raise his two daughters while working as an architect. Harry has hired several tutors for his daughters, but the tutors have never gotten along well with them. Harry meets Stephanie Miller (Ina Barron) who accidentally arrives at his office thinking she is there for an interview with an advertising agency but after talking to Harry for a few minutes she finds out the advertising agency is on another floor. The interview with the advertising agency doesn’t work out because Stephanie arrives late and without a resume because she left the resume in Harry’s office. Harry offers Stephanie the job as a tutor because Stephanie was a teacher before she worked in advertising.

I really enjoyed watching this movie, it was funny and sweet and Philip Boyd and Ina Barron had wonderful chemistry together and you are really hoping that they become a couple and get their happy ending. Harry’s daughters Rosa (Caroline Skye) and Bella (Zoe Willis). do a wonderful job and are really believable as sisters who love their dad and want the best for him.

I give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars. If you miss the movie or forget to set your DVR, the movie will rerun on Great American Family or it will stream on pureflix.com.
