Mariah: Thank you for dragging me out to grab some dinner. Um, aria is down for at least part of the night and the babysitter has got me on speed dial, but I was kind of driving myself crazy after tessa left earlier, so.

Devon: Well, I’m glad you didn’t put up much of a fight. So, thank you because you needed a break.

Mariah: Are you sure that you shouldn’t be with abby or dominic?

Devon: No, no, no, no, no. Abby’s at society and the nanny is giving dominic a bath right now. So, this is exactly where I need to be because with everything you’re dealing with and with tessa leaving today, I thought that you could use some company.

Mariah: Had to practically push tessa out of the door.

Devon: I bet you did. She’s doing a– a marchetti photo shoot?

Mariah: Yeah, in new york. She’s also doing a couple other appearances. She wanted to cancel, but I told her that she had to go, you know. People are counting on her and work can be a sanctuary sometimes, you know, when you’re feeling anxious or you’re grieving or you feel like your heart is gonna break into a million tiny little pieces, so.

Devon: I know exactly what you mean. I’ve had work save me many, many times. But, uh, since you’re starting this new job with your mom, you’re gonna take your own advice sooner than later, right?

Mariah: Yes. Work. Work is, uh– is what I have right now.

Devon: That’s good. I do know it’s gonna be tough with tessa being gone though. I do.

Mariah: Having somebody to lean on is nice.

Devon: I’m sure. And know that you can always lean on me and abby and your mom.

Mariah: I know. I know, and it’s– it’s not like we can’t call tessa or, you know, video chat with her.

Devon: And, hey, I’m positive that just seeing tessa’s face will be more than enough for aria, even if she can’t hear her voice.

Mariah: Yeah. I know.

Devon: It’s true.

[ Mariah sighs ]

Mariah: I don’t know. Every time I look at aria right now, I just want to burst into tears. Just thinking about all the things in this world that she’s missing out on.

[ Mariah sighs ] You know, like, hearing the horses neigh when we go on our morning walks or the crickets at night or tessa’s music or me just talking absolute nonsense or…

[ Mariah sniffles ]

Devon: It’s ok.

[ Lily sighs ]

Lily: Billy. Hi. How are you?

Billy: Hi. Never better.

Lily: Uh-oh. What’s going on?

[ Billy scoffs ] Come on. I know that look, I know that tone.

Billy: Tone?

Lily: Yes.

Billy: I don’t have a tone.

Lily: Yes, you do. You have a tone. I know it very well. Clearly, something is getting harder for you to keep inside.

Billy: Yeah. Maybe. Think I could say the same about you.

Phyllis: Thank you for agreeing to meet with me.

[ Phyllis clears throat ] I didn’t know what to expect after you and your sister claimed to want nothing to do with me. Uh, I didn’t know what it would be like, so.

Daniel: We just want what’s best for you. You can’t claim to be a changed woman and expect us to forget about everything that happened.

Phyllis: Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. I know. I’m trying.

Daniel: I know you are. What’s going on with you? Hm? You started that new job yet?

Phyllis: Oh, uh, no, I don’t know what’s going on with that. I hear it’s collapsing.

Daniel: Well, I’d say I’m sorry, but I’m not actually sorry. The thought of you working with nick and sharon and adam, it just never sat well with me.

Phyllis: Okay, well, I know you don’t like adam. What’s your problem with nick and sharon?

Daniel: Nick is your ex several times over. Sharon has been your rival several times over and adam, well, I don’t really need to say anything about that guy because I’m pretty sure he’s the devil. So yeah, what could possibly be bad about you working with the three of them?

Phyllis: Let’s not talk about this.

Daniel: You brought it up.

Phyllis: No, you brought it up. You’re the one who asked me about my job and I just answered. So, let’s not talk about– hey, how’s lily?

Daniel: She’s great.

Phyllis: Are you great?

Daniel: You know, I’m not sure. Still living with odors?

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Phyllis: You’re not sure how you’re doing? Well, that’s a bad sign.

Daniel: You know, forget about it. Everything’s fine.

Phyllis: No, don’t do that. Don’t do that.

[ Daniel sighs ]

Daniel: All right. It’s probably just my imagination, but lily, she seemed a little off after our conversation with heather.

Phyllis: Off how?

Daniel: I don’t really know how to explain it. Probably just me being oversensitive, but after everything that happened with heather, I just don’t want to make the same mistakes with lily.

Phyllis: Oh, you’re not gonna do that.

Daniel: I don’t know. I guess having heather in town has thrown me for a loop. Made me think about everything that went wrong with our relationship and, well, the things that I would have and could have done differently. I guess it’s thrown lily too.

Phyllis: Okay, well, don’t go there.

Daniel: [ Scoffs ] Really trying not to.

Phyllis: Unless, hm…

Daniel: Unless what?

Phyllis: Well, unless… seeing heather again, sort of stirred up some old feelings.

[ Lily sighs ]

Lily: It’s hon– it’s stupid. It’s really stupid. I feel very stupid even saying it out loud.

Billy: Did you forget who you’re talking to here? I mean, you could do a thousand stupid things, say a million stupid things and you’d never catch up to me.

Lily: Yeah, that’s true. Um…

[ Lily sighs ] Heather is in town for a few weeks.

Billy: Huh, yeah.

Lily: Why’re you saying “huh” like that?

Billy: I mean, I know that she was working with phyllis, right? Uh, representing her in court, but that was over a while ago.

Lily: Yeah, well, her firm is on break, the one in portugal, it’s on break for the summer and so she’s staying here and doing some pro bono work.

Billy: Pro bono? I don’t remember her ever doing pro bono work before.

Lily: Yeah, well, she claims it’s so that lucy can spend time with daniel before she starts school.

Billy: Do you think there’s more to that?

Lily: I don’t know. [ Sighs ] I just– I got this feeling when I was chatting with heather the other day that maybe she regrets what went wrong with daniel.

Billy: Yeah, I mean, look, they had a very long relationship. They’re raising a kid together. I think those are natural feelings.

Lily: Yeah. I know. I know.

Billy: Plus, you know, when you love someone and that relationship ends, those feelings don’t just vanish.

Lily: You’re right.

[ Billy chuckles ]

Billy: But you and daniel are good, right? You’re in a good place?

Lily: Yeah, we’re good, you know, but, I mean, our relationship, like, our rekindled relationship is new, so I don’t really know where it’s heading.

Billy: And do you believe daniel could be pulled back to heather?

Lily: I think it’s possible.

Devon: Mariah, listen, you have every reason to believe that hearing aids will be the answer, okay?

Mariah: I guess.

Devon: No, you don’t guess, you gotta know it. You have to be positive.

Mariah: Look, I might be weepy on the outside, but on the inside I’m still my same cynical self, okay? Not that much has changed.

Devon: Well, I’ll tell you what has changed and that’s technology because there are so many more options today than when I lost my hearing when I was a teenager.

Mariah: I know. I know. I keep telling myself that. I just can’t get it to sink in.

Devon: It’s okay.

Mariah: Do you know that I fell asleep earlier while aria was taking a nap? And I had a nightmare about all of this.

Devon: What happened in it?

Mariah: Aria was a teenager. She was around 15 or something and for whatever reason, I just could not get through to her and she shut down. I mean, she literally shut down. She turned her back on me and tessa and refused to look at us.

Devon: Well, that sounds like every teenager ever.

Mariah: Well, it was different. This was different. I– I don’t know how to explain it.

Devon: You don’t have to explain it. It doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a dream.

Mariah: What are you talking about? It means everything. It’s my subconscious literally going to the worst possible place.

Devon: I understand. And it’s doing that because you don’t know yet what’s really going on with aria.

Mariah: Yeah. Uh, like, what is wrong with my child and how do I fix it? (Vo)you weren’t made for moderate to severe crohn’s disease with cirkul, your water is deliciously flavored at the turn of a dial, with zero sugar and zero calories. [ Devon sighs ]

Devon: Uh… look, I do get it, okay? I understand because I’m a parent and I understand that as one, you can’t help but let your mind go to extreme places, but if you keep just spending all your time speculating, you’re gonna drive yourself insane.

Mariah: What? Just cut it out?

Devon: Yeah. Yeah, you have to.

Mariah: Oh, lovely. If it were so easy. But… [ Chuckles ] Okay. Give me the worst case scenario.

Devon: What are you talking about?

Mariah: If I hear that, then my mind will have nowhere else to go, you know, awake or asleep.

Devon: Mariah. Come on.

Mariah: Uh, please. Earlier, mr. Positivity, you were telling us about all the good things that can happen.

Devon: Right.

Mariah: Okay? How the– the miracles of modern medicine, how my daughter’s a fighter.

Devon: Yes. ‘Cause I believe those things.

Mariah: That’s great. That’s wonderful. Now, I want you to give me the worst things. Tell me the things that I should be worrying about that I don’t even know I should be worrying about.

Devon: What do you mean? You don’t– how– how is that gonna help you? Tell me that.

Mariah: I don’t know. They say to expect the worst so…

Devon: Well, you can prepare for the worst, sure, but you have to always hope for the best.

Mariah: Devon. Please, please, give me the worst case scenario. I– I– if I can’t take it from you, who then? You’re one of my best friends. I gave birth to your child. You have lived through losing your hearing.

Devon: Okay, all right. You know what? I’ll do it, but it’s against my better judgment.

Mariah: Noted.

Lily: Look, daniel and I, we have a past, right?

Billy: Think? You were married.

Lily: No, I know, but we were teenagers, okay? A lot has changed since then. We’re different people now. So, you know, like I said, I don’t really know where we’re headed.

Billy: Where do you want it to go?

Lily: Oh, I don’t know. I’m not thinking about that. I have hit a lot of speed bumps in my love life the past few years.

Billy: I’m sorry. I really do hate that I hurt you.

Lily: No, sorry, I’m not– I’m not trying to blame you. I’m really– I’m not. I’m just– I’m just trying to explain where I am in my life right now. You know what? Forget it. Everything is good. Everything’s fine. I’m overreacting about heather. I’m not threatened by her. You know, I– I want daniel to have a good relationship with lucy’s mom.

Billy: Of course, you do. You’re a good person. You know, and I think it’s natural for that radar to go up. Your partner’s ex is back in town and all of a sudden, wants to share the same zip code.

Lily: Yeah, I know daniel and I are good.

Billy: Well, then, that’s everything. Because you’re an amazing person and daniel would be an idiot to mess that up.

[ Lily chuckles ] I couldn’t agree more.

Daniel: You know, the only thing stirred by heather’s return has been my guilt for how I treated her and lucy.

Phyllis: Well, take this opportunity to make amends. You know, like, I’m making amends with you and your sister.

Daniel: Are you now?

Phyllis: I don’t think that lily will have a problem with that.

Daniel: Hm. I’m not really sure how you feel about lily. You were never her biggest fan back in the day, and, you know, everyone knows that you didn’t get along with her mom.

Phyllis: Listen, I don’t have an issue with lily at all. I just want closure for you and heather, okay? And you know what? I like heather now. I really do. I like her. I have a special affection for her, the way that she just came in, she handled my case when michael was out of town.

Daniel: A special affection. Ah, I don’t think I like the sound of that, I gotta tell you.

Phyllis: Why?

Daniel: You’re not thinking that heather and I are ever gonna get back together, are you?

Phyllis: Daniel, why would you say that?

Daniel: Mom.

Phyllis: Oh, look who’s here. – “Best thing I’ve ever done.”

Heather: Phyllis. Daniel.

Phyllis: Heather. [ Laughs ] What are you up to?

Heather: I, uh, am just grabbing an “end of the day” cocktail. Yeah, and lucy is having a pizza with some friends she’s made here.

Phyllis: Ah. [ Laughs ]

Heather: You know, I, uh– I heard about the new lounge, but I hadn’t had a chance to check it out. It is gorgeous.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Heather: Neil winters is still very missed in this town, isn’t he?

Phyllis: Yes, he is.

Heather: Lily and devon must love having this place named in his honor. His jazz club, indigo, was quite the hotspot at one time. This is, uh– this is where it happened, isn’t it? During the bicentennial celebration?

Phyllis: Oh, yeah. Right– right there. Right there, this is where it happened. Well, I collapsed there. Ambulance, everything. Seems like forever ago.

Daniel: Hm.

Heather: Well, you got your second chance and you’re moving forward and that is what counts.

Phyllis: That is what counts. Thank you. Yes. Would you like to join us?

Heather: Oh, I don’t want to intrude.

Phyllis: What are you talking about? You’re family. Sit down, sit down, please.

Lily: Okay, you know what? Enough about me.

Billy: Really? Are you sick of me throwing compliments your way?

Lily: No, I’m sick of you keeping the conversation on me, so that we don’t talk about what’s bothering you.

Billy: What are you talking about? You don’t buy that I’m totally fine?

Lily: No, I don’T. I heard chelsea left town.

Billy: She did. Yeah. And connor’s staying with her mom for a little while.

Lily: So, is that what’s bothering you? You miss chelsea?

Billy: I mean, yeah. No, I do. Yeah. And I miss connor too, but, um, you know, he was having a rough go at it. Some school problems, things like that, so I think it’s the right thing to do. I think she’s being a good mom.

Lily: Okay, so if it’s not chelsea that’s bothering you, is it work? How are things going at jabot?

[ Billy sighs ]

Billy: Jabot is in flux.

Lily: What does that mean?

Billy: It means that I could probably stand to talk to someone about it. Someone that I can trust.

Lily: Okay, well, I am all ears. No judgment, I promise.

Devon: So, the worst case scenario would be that nothing works, you know. I mean, cochlear implants, hearing aids aren’t options and aria grows up unable to hear.

Mariah: And then?

Devon: And then, we would all rally together to support her and you and tessa would continue loving her and you would figure out new ways to communicate that don’t have to do with hearing.

Mariah: Like…

Devon: There’s a few things. I had this tty device that allowed me to use my phone and we had this system that would start, uh, flashing when the doorbell would ring. And if people wanted to talk to me, they could just text, and then, there’s sign language. You know that. Dru, neil and lily, they all learned it for me.

Mariah: Is it hard?

Devon: No, I don’t– I mean, to me, it wasn’t that bad. For some people, it might be tough, but no.

Mariah: Okay, well, show me.

Devon: Uh, aria’s name is easy. It’s only four letters.

Mariah: Okay.

Devon: A.

Mariah: A.

Devon: R.

Mariah: R.

Devon: I.

Mariah: I.

Devon: A.

Mariah: A.

Devon: That’s it.

Mariah: A.

Devon: A, R.

Mariah: R.

Devon: I.

Mariah: I.

Devon: A.

Mariah: A.

Devon: You did it. That’s it.

Mariah: All right. I’m gonna show tessa that when she gets home.

Devon: That’ll be great. Another good one for you to know is “mother.”

Mariah: Mother.

Devon: That’s it. You’ve just learned two right there.

Mariah: Wow.

[ Devon chuckles ] Uh, do you got anything else?

Devon: I got all of them. I got– I know the easy ones. This is guitar.

Mariah: Guitar. I– I could have guessed that.

Devon: Right? Really simple, swimming, you know.

Mariah: Do you have anything that could be related to me?

Devon: I don’t know how to sign “bad attitude,” so…

[ Mariah sighs ] …It’s gonna be tough.

Mariah: That’s so disappointing. Could you learn that? ‘Cause that would be really useful.

Devon: Sure. Now, how about, uh– for you, about “brave”?

Mariah: Brave.

Devon: Yeah.

Mariah: I like that one. Sleep more deeply.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Mariah: Look, I know that I am going to continue to have nightmares. Probably, a lot of them. But I just wanted to thank you for talking me down a little bit and thank you for caring about me and tessa and aria.

Devon: Come on, of course. We’ve been through a whole lot together.

Mariah: No kidding.

Devon: Right? And you’re a huge reason why abby and I get to be parents at all, so we will always have your back. Actually, I have an idea.

Mariah: What?

Devon: Why don’t you come and stay with us while tessa is out of town so you and aria aren’t home alone worrying?

Mariah: Oh, are we home alone worrying now? [ Laughs ]

Devon: I mean, she is your daughter.

Mariah: Ha, ha, very funny. No, that’s– that’s ridiculous. I don’t want to intrude.

Devon: You’re not intruding. The place is gigantic, for one, so we wouldn’t even know you’re there. Dominic would love it. He’ll want to show you all his toys.

Mariah: Oh, wow, that does sound very fun.

Devon: It will be.

Mariah: No. No, I can’T. And abby–

Devon: Abby would be thrilled, you know that. To have a little girl in the house, she’d be in heaven.

Mariah: Oh, god, aria would come home with new head pieces and tiaras and– and the hair clips and thingies, designer dresses.

Devon: All of it, yes. Absolutely true. [ Laughing ]

Mariah: Uh, okay. Okay, what– when?

Devon: Come tonight if you want.

Mariah: Ah, that– fine. Fine. Yes. Yes. Okay, um, yeah. Just let me go home.

Devon: Okay.

Mariah: I’ll grab aria and I’ll pack up a few things.

Devon: Okay, I’ll call abby, and tell her to get all her hair things ready.

Mariah: Great. [ Laughing ]

Billy: Ashley left jabot.

Lily: Really?

Billy: Mm-hmm.

Lily: I thought you guys were one big happy family company. I mean, not that I don’t understand the dynamics of working with family.

Billy: Yeah, well, ashley’s got a new husband too.

Lily: So, was it tucker’s idea that she leave?

Billy: I don’t know. Maybe it was. Either way, she got a nice wedding gift from jack, a portion of the company, and now, the mccalls are off starting their own cosmetic venture.

Lily: To compete with jabot.

Billy: Yeah.

Lily: Wait, so, jack gave ashley a piece of the company and she’s building a competitive company?

Billy: Yeah. And there was a long feud that got us to that point with me stuck right smack-dab in the middle.

Lily: How?

Billy: Well, it started with jack and diane enlisting me to pretend to be on ashley’s team, so I could gather intel, and I did that, and ashley trusted me, and then, she asked me to go back to jabot and try and sabotage it from the inside.

Lily: Weaken it so that she and tucker could take control.

Billy: Precisely.

Lily: Wow. I’m surprised you put yourself in the middle of that. You weren’t actually being a double agent, were you?

Billy: No. I was loyal to jack. More importantly, to the company. My father’s legacy is the most important thing and it still is.

Lily: I completely get that.

Billy: Look, do I– I think that ashley had, you know, potentially the right instincts, the right thought process? I don’t exactly trust diane, not in business. I mean, she doesn’t have the resume for it and she’s got a lot of influence over my brother.

Lily: Well, I mean, what harm could she really do?

Billy: Depends how far she wants to take it. And she could want more power, more input, do what’s right for her, but not what’s right for the family. My brother’s not gonna see that, you know, not ’til it’s too late because he’s blinded by love.

Lily: I mean, she is his wife.

Billy: To the point of losing perspective.

Lily: So then, would it be better if tucker and ashley take control of the company?

Billy: I love my sister. I don’t trust tucker. To be honest, I’m not even sure that I trust ashley’s intentions right now more than diane’s, but I don’t know. She’s got tucker on her side and she’s blinded by the hatred for diane. Sometimes, I feel like I’m the only abbott with legitimate intentions to protect the family company, no matter what.

Heather: So, the guest room is– is full of sea glass and driftwood and seashells. So, all I’m saying is, if, uh, you guys, or– or anyone comes to visit us in portugal anytime soon, you may not have anywhere to sleep. But, uh, lucy says she’s gonna make some jewelry out of what she’s collected.

Phyllis: Oh, great. Well, I definitely want a lucy romalotti original necklace. Definitely.

Heather: Well, let’s see if she follows through.

Daniel: Well, she always was our little beachcomber, wasn’t she? You remember there was that one summer that she bugged us every single day to take her out to tybee island so she could collect more shells.

Heather: What about that time she brought home that huge bucket of special treasures.

Daniel: Special treasures. Yes. And it weighed a ton. You couldn’t even lift it.

Heather: Yeah, and then– and then she rinsed all of them off and laid them on the deck to dry.

Daniel: And in the morning, they had all moved.

Heather: Hermit crabs.

Daniel: Who knew.

[ Phyllis laughs ]

Heather: I, uh, I guess it’s not the worst thing in the world that we have a daughter who likes nature.

Daniel: No, there’s plenty of other ways she can drive us crazy.

Phyllis: Mm. No, not my sweet little lucy.

Daniel: She is always on best behavior with you. Trust me, she has had us tearing our hair out plenty of times.

Heather: Hair, hair. There’s an example. Do you remember the time that she came home with pink hair?

Daniel: I didn’t hate it.

Heather: Well, of course you didn’t because you didn’t have to drop her off to the school with a very strict dress code and explain to the administration why your daughter showed up with pink hair.

[ Daniel chuckles ]

Phyllis: Wow.

Daniel: How’s the, um, how’s the pro bono work going?

Heather: Um, well, I think I– I– I’m enjoying it.

Phyllis: How long do you think the cases will go for?

Heather: Uh, hard to say. I– I– I’ve gotta wrap them up in the next few weeks or– or hand them off to someone else because, um, lucy is gonna have to get back for school and, you know, my firm will reopen.

Phyllis: Do you like living in lisbon?

Heather: It’s a beautiful city.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Heather: Yeah.

Phyllis: I mean, but don’t you, sort of, you know, miss living in the states at all? I’m sure it wasn’t an easy transition for you to sort of live a life in europe and–

Heather: No, I’ve– I’ve– you’ve lived in new york before. You– you learn a new city, you make adjustments. I get homesick, occasionally,

[ Daniel clears throat ]

Daniel: Homesick for savannah, right? I mean, you’re not talking about genoa city.

Heather: Both, I guess.

Phyllis: Hm. So, you consider genoa city and savannah both home? That’s lovely. She found it.

Heather: I guess I– I still consider the states home because lucy does. You know, when– when we talk about coming over for a visit, she says I’m excited to go home.

Phyllis: Oh, really? Clearly, she thinks of genoa city as home because I’m here because she misses me.

Heather: Hm. But, you know, it– it does worry me a little bit when she talks like that.

Daniel: Why?

Heather: Because I…

[ Sighs ] I don’t know. I wonder if she hasn’t really been upfront with me and, uh, she’s not actually all that happy living abroad and if privately, she really still wishes she were in savannah. Has she said anything to you?

Daniel: No, we haven’t talked about her living in lisbon at all. It– it’s, you know, just been the two of us focusing on reconnecting.

Heather: And you are and that’s what matters.

Phyllis: Well, it’s too bad then. It’s too bad she has to leave, especially since you’re reconnecting. And– and– and also because she’s not very happy in portugal.

Daniel: What, no, no. Nobody said that. She didn’t say that

Heather: I have to get going, guys. I’m gonna head up because I have a really early morning, but thank you for the drink.

Phyllis: Sure. Well, it was lovely to see you. Oh, my goodness.

Heather: Yes, it really was.

Phyllis: We’ll talk later.

[ Phyllis chuckles ]

Heather: Okay. Um, good night.

Daniel: Good night. Wow.

Phyllis: Hm.

Daniel: What was that all about?

Lily: Look, jack cherishes your father’s legacy. I’m sure he wants to protect it as much as you do.

Billy: Not as much as he cherishes diane. Not right now. I mean, he gave her an executive level position without even consulting his co-ceo and I wouldn’t put it past diane that she’s not coming for my job.

Lily: Oh, come on, jack would not go for that

Billy: If diane wanted it she could manipulate him, make him think that it’s the right thing to do. He’s not seeing straight when it comes to that woman.

Lily: She’s your sister-in-law now.

Billy: Yeah, she is. And if she does take my position, I think mayhem’s gonna break out and I think maybe that’s exactly what ashley is waiting for. See, am I the only sane one here? Go figure, huh?

Lily: Okay. So, what are your options?

Billy: Jabot needs to be run by someone that can put personal feelings aside. Someone that thinks about the company and its future. Surprise, surprise. I think that’s me.

Lily: Sorry. Are you going to take control of the company away from jack?

Billy: [ Sighs ] Look, I’m not planning a coup or anything like that. That’s exactly what ashley wanted to do in the first place. But I do believe that I’m the right person for the job to run jabot.

Lily: Billy, are you sure? Because you’ve led jabot in the past and you have never lasted that long.

Billy: Ouch. Okay. Well, that was–

Lily: Well, look, I’m not trying to be critical. I’m not, but you’ve never had the same passion for jabot like jack has. You’ve never seen yourself finishing your career there. So, I mean, are you sure this is about, you know, wanting to protect the company or is it more your desire for power?

Billy: I think you know me better than that.

Lily: I do know you and I think that it wouldn’t bother you so much if it wasn’t partly true.

Billy: I want to do what’s right for my family’s legacy. I don’t know what that is yet, but I’m not planning a power grab.

Lily: Good. I’m telling you, billy. You do not want to try to wrestle jabot away from your brother. I have been there and it is horrible. Isn’t it absolutely bonkers I am in love with mixtiles. You just pull the adhesive off the back and stick it to any surface, and there’s no damage to your walls. Go to mixtiles.Com and pick sizing, filters and it really makes it fit the decor of your home. Order now and get up to 50% off. Thoughts, martin?

Billy: I’m not gonna go to war with jack.

Lily: Good. I’m very glad to hear it because I do not think it’s a war you could win.

[ Lily sighs ] Billy, come on. You know, I’m right. Okay, for a lot of reasons and the casualties would be significant.

Billy: And if I do nothing, the damage to jabot could be significant. I don’t know what the right thing to do is. I really don’T.

[ Billy sighs ]

Lily: Do you want to know what I do when I have a big decision like this?

Billy: What’s that?

Lily: Wwdd. What would dad do? Because my dad, he was very, very wise, but especially with family business. And so was john abbott.

[ Lily inhales deeply ] Anyway, I have to go. Are you good?

Billy: I’m better now.

Lily: You sure?

Billy: I am. Thank you. I know what I need to do.

Devon: All right. Abby should be home soon and I figure when she gets here, we can put the kids to sleep and have a night cap if you’d like.

Mariah: Oh, yeah, that sounds good.

Devon: Yeah? And I got your room all set up for you. It’s the same guest room that you stayed in before.

Mariah: Oh, yeah. After dominic was born.

Devon: Yeah. Yeah. And there’s a crib in there and everything for you, so please make yourself at home because this is your home now and, uh, I’m gonna go make some work calls. I’ll be back.

Mariah: Devon.

Devon: Yes.

Mariah: Thank you.

Devon: Always.

[ Mariah sighs ]

Mariah: Oh, hi.

Phyllis: I mean, daniel, I’m just trying to figure out where heather’s head is at, that’s all. Listen, I’m never gonna stop protecting my children ever, ever. I don’t want to see you hurt.

Daniel: I can protect myself just fine. I do not need my mother’s help.

[ Phyllis sucks teeth ] Besides, isn’t the new phyllis supposed to be all about boundaries and not crossing lines.

Phyllis: Um, I don’t–

Daniel: Okay, you know what? If you’re thinking about playing matchmaker, don’t do it. That’s it. I’m with lily now and I’m happy. I don’t know where things are going for the two of us and I’m all right with that. So is lily. You understand?

Phyllis: Yes.

Daniel: Do you?

Phyllis: Yes.

Daniel: Yeah?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: Okay. You know, you tried to meddle in my relationship with heather before and that didn’t work out, did it? Heather’s the past. Yes, we share our daughter, but our relationship as anything more than parents, it– it’s– it’s over. So, do not try and make anything happen between us. That would just be a huge mistake. Really big, you know? So…

[ Daniel sighs ] This is your chance. This is your chance to prove that you changed.

Lily: Heather? Hey, you okay?

Heather: Yeah. Yes, of course. Of– of course. How are you?

Lily: Good, um, no, you just seemed a little out of it.

Heather: Long day. Really long day.

Lily: Yeah. I can relate to that.

[ Lily chuckles ]

Heather: Good night.

Lily: Good night.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Come on, corinthos. We’ve been sitting here all night. It doesn’t have to be this way if you’d just cooperate with us. All you have to do is answer a few questions. Let’s try this again. How about we start with simple “yes” or “no” questions? Do you think you could manage to do that? Have you ever done business with pikeman security group? Yes or no?

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Door opens ] Michael. Hey. What are you doing here? Is everything okay? Uh, mom, there’s something I have to tell you, and it’s not good news. Oh. Is willow okay? You know, willow’s fine, and the kids are fine. It’s just, um… look, I had dinner last night at the metro court with willow and wiley. And the fbi showed up and arrested dad. I know. Lucy, I’m gonna need you to calm down. How am I supposed to calm down when I feel like deception is slipping through our fingertips? I know you want to fight tracy’s lawsuit against deception, claiming that the deceptor was her idea, but…I think we should consider settling. What?! Don’t even say that! I have put my blood, sweat, and tears into this company. I am never — do you hear me? I am never gonna give 75% of my beloved deception to tracy quartermaine. Are you really thinking this through clearly? What do you think I’m thinking? I’m thinking about it all the time, night and day. I can’t stop! Okay, okay! Then you know 25% of a viable company is a whole lot more than 100% of nothing. I’m sorry. We’re closed. Aw. You’re always open for me. What the hell are you doing here? Do people really buy this junk? ‘Cause I swear I could do that in my sleep. Really? So, you’re a thug and an artist, too, huh? Somebody wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? I got to tell you, if it was me in that bed with you, I’d make damn sure that you woke up on the right side with a smile on your face every morning. Nikolas? Cassadine, you here?

[ Door opens ]

[ Breathing heavily ] Where you been? I went on a morning jog. A morning jog? For months you’ve been recovering from a traumatic head injury. You really — you think that’s a good idea? I feel pretty good. And my strength is almost back to normal. Right. And when it is, what are you gonna do? We need to talk. I got nothing to say to you, cyrus. I need to warn you. I know. You’ve told me already. Hell, damnation for eternity. I get it. I know! I’m talking about sonny corinthos. What about sonny? You’re no longer under his protection. What are — what are you talking about? Sonny can’t even protect himself. As of last night, he’s in federal custody.

[ Door opens ] Hey. Hey. You’re home.

[ Keys jingle ] Finally. I have missed you. I was really worried about you. Mm. Can I get you anything? A cup of coffee? Mnh-mnh. No? Just this. Okay.

[ Smooches ] Did you get any details on your father’s arrest? No. Not a thing. And I was at the fbi office all night. They’re being pretty tight-lipped, and they don’t want to tell the pcpd anything about that case. Why not? I don’t know. ‘Cause they can. Sam, this might be, like, the end of my father. No. Don’t say that, dante. I have seen sonny in tighter spots. And he always manages to beat the charges. Yeah. Yeah, but this time he doesn’t have a jason.

[ Footsteps approaching ] I want a full report of the evidence seized on the pier last night. On it. Agent wallace: Surely a man in your line of work has heard of pikeman. They’re a global contractor, furnishing arms and security equipment, among other things. Come on, corinthos. You’re an importer. If pikeman approached you to transfer arms to a third party, that would be a very lucrative payday for you. I’m a coffee importer. I’m not gonna say anything unless my attorney’s present.

So, that’s it? One little hearing doesn’t go our way and you just want to cave? I don’t like this any more than you do. Okay! Then why don’t you want to fight? I want to fight. I want to fight this. But it sounds like you just want to throw in the towel and give up everything, our whole lifetime of work. Lucy, first and foremost, I’m a mom…

[ Sighs ] …A single mom of three kids. And I just decided to move out of my two-bedroom apartment and into a house that is a lot more expensive. My financial future is tied to deception. I have to be practical. Okay. Okay, I get it. But I — I just think you’re jumping the gun, maybe. I need gummies. I didn’t bring my gummies today. Just when I needed them. Lucy…

[ Exhales heavily ] …We are up against tracy quartermaine. She is not some inexperienced grifter looking for a quick payday. Don’t I know that? Okay, good. Then you know how ruthless she is, that she’ll do anything to win. I’m not entirely sure I want to play that game. We already know she used brook lynn, her own granddaughter, as a corporate spy. Okay, I’ll give you that. You’re right. She’s greedy. She’s vindictive. But somehow I just don’t think that’s all there is to it. I think maybe, just maybe, she is deliberately trying to get back at me. Get back at you for what? You know, I really don’t see what you see in my cousin. Why are messing with him? Well, you don’t know what you’re missing with me. What I’m missing is my ex-husband’s corpse. You should have delivered it to me by now. Well, let me just run out to my car and get it.

[ Chuckles ] That’s just hilarious. Where is it? Look, the when and where of how we move nikolas’ body has got be worked out with the boss. Well, you’ve been working this out with the boss for weeks now, right? I mean, I don’t want to get caught moving it. Then I’d have to explain to the cops it was you that did him in. Whatever arrangements you have to make, make them. I did what you asked me to do. Now it’s time for you to honor the deal. You saved my life. That blow to my head put me in a coma, and I doubt I would have survived more than a day or two, much less had a full recovery, if it wasn’t for you. So, for that, I want to thank you. I do appreciate it. Sure. Happy to help. Look, I — I just want to clarify something. What’s there to clarify? It’s important. I just want —

[ Sighs ] You know ava never intended to kill you, right? It was just — it was an accident. Accident or not, I almost died. Right. Yeah. I understand that. Your condition was grave, and your recovery has been remarkable. You — remarkable. It’s just that now it’s time for ava to know about it. How did you — how did you hear about sonny? You know how it is in here. Word travels fast. I overheard some inmates say that sonny was pulled in by the feds and a shipment he was moving was confiscated. That does not sound like sonny. He’s too smart to get caught. Well, when it comes to the feds, they don’t mess around. Word is sonny is in violation of the national security act. You’re ex-military. You’re a smart guy. Put two and two together. Those are some serious charges. Don’t you agree? I mean, with jason gone, it did leave a giant hole in sonny’s organization, but he still has gabe, frank, dex, brick, I mean, a lot of other loyal people surrounding him. Not to mention diane, who will help him fight this. Yeah. But they didn’t come after him on rico charges or racketeering. It’s violations of the nsa. I mean, it’s pretty serious. If he gets convicted, he’s in jail for the rest of his life. I mean, this is the feds. They’re not — they’re not messing around. I know, but something just doesn’t feel right about this. Sonny is way too careful. He would never let something like this happen. How do you think it happened? Uh, someone snitched on him and went on the record. I mean, whoever it is, they gave the fbi what they needed to be able to haul him in finally. Okay. And who would do that?

[ Chuckles ] My dad’s made so many enemies over the years, who could tell? Or maybe it’s some low-level worker who saw something that they shouldn’t have seen. No, I don’t — I don’t think so. Sonny is way too loyal to his people. They would never turn on him like that. My gut is telling me that it’s one of his enemies from outside of his organization. Maybe. But who? How’d you hear about dad? What, did diane call you? No. I was at kelly’s last night and a regular from the docks came in and he saw the feds down there. And he heard the name corinthos. So I called sonny, but he didn’t pick up, and I wasn’t gonna leave that on a voicemail, so I called dex. Did he answer? Yes. Yes. And I told him to get the hell out of there. I don’t know if he got picked up or if he managed to escape, but I haven’t heard from him since. Have you? No, I haven’t either. Oh, michael. This isn’t good. Obviously, dex didn’t have enough time to warn me because I had no idea what was happening until I saw the feds walk off the elevator at the metro court. Okay. I need the truth. And I don’t want a cover story. Michael, if you changed your mind and you turned your father in to the feds, you need to tell me the truth right now.

good grief. Really? Who knows what tracy will take offense to? I really believe that woman is just in a perpetual state of unhappiness. You know, you can ask her family and they’ll tell you that woman is nothing but a big old sourpuss. And she is trying to inflict her nasty unhappiness on me and my friends and my associates. Okay, her motives don’t matter at this point. Her evidence does. Right, but I still think she might have something else up her sleeve. Let’s look at what we do know. Tracy is alleging that the concept and the design for the deceptor were her idea and that we stole them. But we know she’s a big, fat liar. We also know that tracy had brook lynn give her the proprietary information on how we developed the deceptor. Which has to be ’cause that is the only way tracy would be able to get her grubby little hands on my idea. But we don’t know what evidence tracy actually has to prove that the design of the deceptor was her idea and not yours and that she created it first. Well, I understand why you would suspect me of turning sonny over to the feds. I mean, willow did, too.

[ Sighs ] And wiley — wiley saw his grandfather being arrested by those agents, and he was really upset about it. Wiley shouldn’t have to see sonny arrested. Is he okay? Yeah, he is now. After we got him home and we tucked him into bed, we told him that his grandfather was gonna be okay. What did willow say to you? She asked me straight out if I was responsible for sonny’s arrest. And what did you tell her? The truth. I made the decision not to use the pikeman footage, and, in doing so, I let go of the whole idea of getting revenge against my father. You — you and willow made me realize that, by going after sonny, I’d be causing too much damage, especially to my siblings. You swear to me you had nothing to do with this? Yes. I swear. When I gave you the footage, that was the end of it. I smashed that flash drive right here in this kitchen, in front of josslyn. But are we sure we had the only copy? Dante, regardless of who could have turned him in, are you sure about the nsa charges? No. I mean, it’s all rumors right now. Like I said before, the feds are being completely tight-lipped about the whole thing. They don’t want to — they don’t want to involve the pcpd ’cause they’re worried sonny might have informants in the department. Well, you don’t think anyone suspects that you would warn sonny if you knew about it, do you? I don’t know. I mean, I got to admit, I don’t know… I’m glad I don’t have to answer that question. I don’t know what I would do with that information if I had it, but…I didn’T. I found out from my mother when she called me. Okay. Do you think diane can get him out of this? I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. The way this is going down, the feds are acting like they’re so confident in their case and they have all the evidence to back it up. Agent wallace: I have your file right here. You’ve been the target of multiple federal investigations. You know how this works, sonny. The only thing we want more than a lifetime conviction against you is evidence against who you’re working with. You want to tell me who that is? Seriously? Seriously?! The fbi doesn’t know that you don’t question anyone without counsel present? My client’s not gonna answer any more of your questions. He hasn’t answered any questions to begin with. Oh. The only thing he told us is that he imports coffee. Oh, not just coffee. The best coffee. I advise you to try it sometime. And you’re done with my client. Oh, I don’t think so. We can and will hold mr. Corinthos for 72 hours until his arraignment. He won’t make bail on an nsa violation. Maybe you should explain to your client the benefits of cooperating. Sorry I couldn’t get anything out of him. He’s good. We knew going into this thing that the guy was a pro. Well, it’s a damn good thing we have the evidence to back this up. Sonny corinthos isn’t getting away this time.

How tracy could have proof that she came up with the idea of the deceptor because it was mine. It was all mine. I came up with it. I’m — I mean, I did have encouragement from martin. But you know what? It wasn’t like all of a sudden it just came out, “okay, you go ahead and come up with “this revolutionary beauty wand that makes us all look younger.” That doesn’t mean tracy didn’t have the same idea. What?! No — oh, pooh. There’s no way she came up with the same idea that I had. Well, what about all those gazillionaires who are creating rockets that are going into space at the same time? It could just be out there in the ether? No, no. Okay. I will give you this. If one of our competitors, an actual cosmetic competitor, like erica kane with enchantment, came up with the idea, okay, maybe I would buy it. But no way did tracy come up with it. There’s not any way. I just — I think this is personal. She’s obviously got something because we’re standing here having this conversation. Okay. But since when did tracy ever care or know about anything beauty? Keep your shirt on. You’ll get your husband’s body all in good time. So you’ve been saying. Where is it?

[ Chuckles ] Look, I’ll figure out how to move it, and I’ll let you know. When? Soon. That —

[ Chuckles ] That’s not good enough. I want to know when. No more vague answers. We’ll be in touch. I promise. Yeah, this has been like a hell for ava. Believing that you were dead? It’s like living the torments of the damned. I’m sure. But I didn’t realize you and my ex-wife were so close. I mean, we’re…not. We’re not, really. I mean — well, then how do you know she was so tortured by my apparent death? We kind of went through this ordeal at spoon island ’cause we were there, you know, when heather webber and ryan chamberlain — they went on, like, this rampage. You know, heather — she stabbed me with, like, this big fishing hook. Like, “kcsh!” Like just — really? Yeah, it was really — it was super painful. What were you doing on the island to begin with? Oh, I just…stopped by. Stopped by? No one just drops by spoon island. You must have had a reason to go there. So, we meet again. Listen, cyrus, I appreciate the warning about sonny’s arrest. I really do. And I hope sonny finds a way to beat the charges like he’s done so many times in the past. But right now, all I want to do is I just want to find a book. Oh, before you do. I have something for you. Thank you for warning me last night. Where have you been? I’ve been laying low. I didn’t want to go home, so I spent the night in the q’s boathouse. Well, you should have called michael or me. We were worried. Dex, how did the feds get a copy of the pikeman footage? I mean, did you keep a backup? No, of course I didn’t keep a backup, okay? I downloaded the footage onto an encrypted flash drive that I gave to you. What about the original footage? I deleted it. Okay. Did you always keep the flash drive with you? Is there a chance that it could have been copied? That was your ticket out. It’s pretty useless now. This is the footage of sonny at the pikeman deal? Mm-hmm. Michael gave it to my mom. She could have traded this footage to the feds in exchange for them dropping the charges against her and drew. You risked your life to get that footage, and she destroyed it because protecting sonny was more important to her. I just wish that my mom hadn’t destroyed the flash drive. That was her decision to make, and there’s nothing we can do about it now. Right, but that was our one chance to turn sonny in to the feds, and we blew it. What are you all doing here?

When the news broke that ryan and heather had escaped from spring ridge with esme, the rumors were swirling that esme was the hook killer, and ava was her first victim. So I went to check on her — ava — and it’s good that I did because, you know, they were all there. And you were hooked by heather trying to protect ava. Yes. We have that in common. We both almost died on spoon island. You may have very well saved ava’s life. Okay. Look…ava’s a — a really good person.

[ Chuckles ] I’m not sure everyone would agree with that statement. No. Come on. I mean, she’s made her mistakes, right? But who hasn’t? And…it’s really difficult for her right now. She — she blames herself for something that clearly isn’t true. So it’s time for you to go back to town, and it’s time for you to tell her that you’re alive. I made this in the prison shop. I’d like you to have it. It’s the least I could do after saving my life. Do you play? I know the game. I haven’t played in a while. I originally made it for myself. I was hoping to interest other inmates in playing, with very limited success. But now I’d like you to have it — for your own use, of course, but also in the hope that you would agree to play me. Chess is an excellent way to see how the opposing player’s mind works, things like, “are they impulsive or methodical? How far ahead can they think?” And best of all, you don’t have to like someone to play chess with them. And you may learn something worth knowing. What do you think sonny did to get the nsa to go after him? Oh, well, that’s hard to pinpoint because his organization is so complex. Do you think this could all be tied into the metro court shooting? I don’t know how it could be. But we can’t dismiss it, right? All I know is, if sonny goes down, it destabilizes port charles and leaves a gaping hole in my family. Yes, a lot of people would be hurt and suffer if your father went to prison. Yeah. Especially my family. I have been in these clothes for far too long. I’m gonna go have a shower. Okay. Go shower. Are you sure you don’t want a cup of coffee or breakfast, anything? Yeah. You know what? Coffee sounds good. Yeah? Okay. Yeah. I’ll brew you a pot. Go shower. Thanks. Mm-hmm.

[ Line ringing ] Ferncliff hospital. How may I help you? Hi. This is, uh, sam mccall. I have medical proxy over cody bell. I was just calling to see how he was doing today. Nurse:

Hi, ms. Mccall. Cody has been on a 24-hour watch since he was admitted. He hasn’t been left alone. He’s in good hands.

Try not to worry. Okay. Thank you so much. Um, I’ll call back later and — and see if I can get an update then. Bye. Damn it, cody.

[ Sighs ] You got to tone it down. You’re not gonna be able to get to sasha if they keep watching you. I have been worried all night about you. Why didn’t you return my calls or my texts? I know. I’m sorry. I went to that concert, remember? And then — and then I went out with some friends. You didn’t come home all night long. I know. I’m sorry. I stayed the night with lori. I came home as soon as I saw the texts and the calls. Josslyn, we talked about this. When I was hauled down to the pcpd, I told you you have to keep your phone on at all times in case I need you. Okay. Yeah. I promise it won’t happen again. But what the hell’s going on?

[ Sighs ] Okay, look, the fbi busted sonny last night for violations of nsa. Really? Why? Someone turned sonny in. Was it you?

I just know that tracy is doing all of this out of pure and total spite for me. It’s because I finally — I finally made deception such a huge success.

[ Breathes deeply ] First of all, excuse me? I’m pretty sure i had something to do with that success. Of course you did. Come on. That goes without saying. And sasha, too. You know, thinking about this, if sasha hadn’t had that unfortunate meltdown, we probably wouldn’t be in this situation. But now we have the deceptor. It’s our only moneymaker, and we need it. And now it’s tied up in court because of tracy for six months. And financially, maybe we could hold on, but only if we both agree that we’re gonna win this. I can’t go back…yet. Why not? I can’t go into details, but I’m in a volatile situation. Ohh, right? Sure, you are, because you knocked up your son’s girlfriend. Oh, and then you kept her prisoner in a tower at wyndemere. And I don’t know if anyone’s told you, so I’ll bring you up to speed. Elizabeth baldwin, your co-conspirator in all this — she made a spirited statement to the police department. That doesn’t surprise me. Elizabeth always ends up doing the right thing. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. I — okay, so — back to the original question. Why are you staying away from port charles? What is it? Are you afraid you’re gonna get arrested? Where was sonny arrested? At the metro court. I was there with willow and wiley when the feds showed up and arrested sonny for violations of the nsa. Now, do you know what that means? I-I think so. It’s really serious. Yes, very serious. And it could only mean that the feds had a copy of the pikeman footage. Now, do you have any idea how they could have gotten a hold of that?

[ Scoffs ] Not from me, michael. Okay, look, you were pretty determined to take him down even after I decided to back off. Yeah, I would have turned him in in an instant, but dex didn’t keep a copy of the footage, and he gave the only copy to you. Yes, and I gave it to mom. Yeah, and she destroyed it in this kitchen as I watched, so — alright, then what? What happened to the flash drive after it was destroyed? I took it.

After our little day in court,I did some research. I.P. Theft cases are really hard to win, but if you can prove it, they’re very lucrative. Yeah, well [Chuckles] That viper tracy thinks that she can. And if she can’t, she’ll just drag this out in court for as long as it takes. Yeah. Which makes deception just suffer. Tracy will risk destroying our company if she thinks she’s not going to beat us, which is why we can’t risk holding on if we’re just gonna lose in the end. Okay, stop. Am I correct in saying that you want to wave the white flag and just surrender everything to tracy? I know we both hate the idea of giving in to tracy, but… yes. Yes, okay? I think we should take her deal. No, no, no! I am not ready to do that. Lucy, financially speaking, we don’t have any time. I realize that. I realize that. I also realize this is not gonna be some walk in the park for us, but please give me time. I just know that I’ve got to figure out what proof tracy has that she had the idea of deceptor, and I know for a fact there is no way she can prove that she thought of the deceptor first. And how exactly are you gonna do that? Oh, no. No. I know that look. I’ll think of something. I promise you I will think of something. There are a number of issues that need to be worked out before I return to the land of the living. Yeah, no, I think I just mentioned two of the big ones. Austin, I’m eager to get back home. I really am. Cool. This decade? I can’t wait to see spencer, my mother, and my new son, ace. And I need to set things right with ava. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get out of these running clothes and take a shower. Sure.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hey. Hello? E-everything alright? No. No, actually, everything is not alright. What the hell’s going on? What does that mean? I got to work this morning, and your creepy cousin was in my gallery. Not to buy art? No, no, he was most definitely not here to buy art. Well, then what did he want? Well, that’s the thing. Aside from just being a creeper, I have no idea. It’s like he was checking up on me. Yeah, he’s remarkably good at that. Well, I asked him again when I can expect to have nikolas’s body and he was vague again. He deflected, saying that he still had to work things out with the boss.

[ Breathes deeply ] Dex, what did you do with the flash drive? I intended to burn it. What do you mean, “intended”? Well, I should have burnt it. But I got derailed by work, so I ended up throwing it away in a public trash can. Oh, my god. What the hell were you thinking?! I looked at the fragments of the flash drive. It was totally destroyed. Yeah, you did smash it pretty hard. I don’t see how anyone could have gotten anything off of it. We’re not talking about anyone. We’re talking about the federal government. Dex, if you were being followed, someone could have seen you throw it into the trash can and the feds could have retrieved it. That’s right, and they have the technology and the resources to pull footage off of a damaged flash drive. And that footage could be all the feds need to slap those nsa charges on sonny. Okay, okay, we’re getting way too ahead of ourselves, alright? We don’t even know for sure if they have it. That flash drive would explain how the feds had enough evidence to arrest sonny and probably convict him. Our actions could keep sonny in prison for the rest of his life. Hey! Perfect timing. Hey. Look what I got. Oh, wow. Thank you. One coffee for you. Thanks.

[ Sighs ] Kind of always knew this day was coming. I hoped it wouldn’t, but, you know, knew it was coming. I guess the bright side is I wasn’t the one who had to bust my father. Oh, come on. That would be a heavy guilt for you to carry on your shoulders. Yeah. Being a cop is complicated. I guess, sam, I’m — I’m kind of conflicted here. I mean, I know the difference between right and wrong, but the difference can be inches or it can be miles, you know? Yeah. I mean, I’ve arrested bad people who were guilty who I knew would never see the inside of a jail cell. And conversely, I’ve arrested people who made terrible mistakes who ended up paying for it for the rest of their lives. You know, when I found out sonny was my father, I was like, you know, our moral codes couldn’t be more vastly different. But I got to know him and see the good in him and even to understand why he did some of the things that he did. And I’m thinking now, maybe we’re inches apart, not miles apart, you know? And on top of that, he is my father. So, what am I gonna do, right? You’re gonna be there for him. Yeah. We will all be there for him. Yeah. And I got to admit, part of me is hoping he beats the charges one more time. You know, sonny, I’m still seriously considering playing softball for the corinthos coffee team. But I hear carly has become one hell of a pitcher for kelly’S. That’s true. I’m not surprised. She’s wild. She might give you some competition this year. Of course, the team to beat is always general hospital. You know that elizabeth baldwin? She’s so nice and sweet when she takes care of patients in the hospital, but she’s brutal on the field. That’s why we need you — ’cause we could use a shortstop, center fielder. Okay. Okay. I’ll play center field. That way, at some point, I will be pitted against alexis and her invader team, which I both love and miss — a good alexis-diane matchup. Oh. Agent wallace, thanks for joining us. Oh. Hello. My client’s still not gonna answer any of your questions, unless you want to talk softball. Well, if mr. Corinthos isn’t going to cooperate, there’s no need to waste yours or our valuable time. Good. Sonny can return to his holding cell for 72 hours until his court arraignment. Cuffs? Are cuffs really necessary?

[ Handcuffs clinking ] Sorry, I’m sorry, but he is, um — he is correct. This case is going to be heard in the federal court of the northern district of new york. And these are federal nsa charges. I will not be able to get bail posted. Agent wallace, here’s the report you asked for on the raid on pier 55. Let’s see those photos. Jackpot.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Hey, how you feeling? Oh, good. Yeah. No more Braxton Hicks. Oh, excellent. You know, it looks like, uh, this little one is going to stay in the oven for a little bit longer before making their grand entrance into the world. I’m happy to hear that because I’ve been, I’ve been thinking we should be married before the baby’s born.

Theresa Donovan. Never thought I’d see your sorry little arse in Salem again. Indra. Ever the charmer. Cut the chitchat. What the hell are you doing here?

Wait, you’re telling me that Susan Banks is alive? Oh, she is. She survived that crash. Which means I am not responsible for the death of E. J. DiMera’s mother.

I need you to come and meet me in the park right now. David Vitale killed my mother and before this day is done, I want her dead too.

Hey, I stopped by the front desk on the way in. Your discharge papers are all done. You’re free to go. You ready to go home? Sloane?

Eric, there’s something I need to tell you. What’s going on? What is

it? It’s about the baby.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Eric?

I’m so sorry I lost our child. Hey, look at me. Why are you sorry?

It wasn’t your fault. I know how much you want to be a father.

When I came in here, we had so much to look forward to. Starting a family together. Being parents together and, and now… All

We still have each other. And we still have a lot of good things to look forward to.

You know, actually, I’m sure you’re pretty desperate for some non hospital food.

Hey, why don’t we go down to the pub and I’ll make you some dinner? You mind if I just meet you there? After I take a little walk, clear my head? Yeah. Sure. I just need a little time to myself. Okay. You just call me. Make sure you’re okay. I’ll make sure of the phone. It’s

all my fault. It’s all my fault that you’re not gonna be a father. To either one of your kids.

Okay, Nicole Walker. No genetic anomalies detected, blah, blah, blah. Okay, where is it? E.

G. DiMera.

Not a genetic match. Dear God. That baby’s not EJ’s. It’s Eric’s.

I came here to pay my respects to your Uncle Victor. God rest his soul. That’s why you’re so

cynical. I actually cared very deeply for Victor. Well, of course you did. a kind hearted, sentimental person. Thanks for the no one, baby. You know what, fine, the tears weren’t over him, but, and not that it’s any of your damn business, but, uh, they were about Brady. Oh, don’t tell me he wasn’t thrilled to see you.

Let me guess, he told you to go to hell? Am I right? Same as Sarah Horton did to you, am I right? Rex, I…

I’m so grateful that you want to be the father of my baby. And after what Xander did to Susan Banks, I don’t want that bastard anywhere near our child.

Are you still sure that you want to do this? Look, you made it very clear to me when you accepted my proposal that keeping Xander away was the primary motive for marrying me. And that doesn’t freak you out? No, actually no, it doesn’t. Because I’m committed to you, and I’m still committed to getting you to fall back in love with me again.

I do hope you can do that. I really do. You sure about that? Why wouldn’t I be? Because you hesitated when I brought up the subject of us getting married. It’s It doesn’t feel right to do it now. You know, before Victor’s funeral. Yeah. No, you’re right, you’re right. That, that does make sense. I just, um, I want to be present for my mom.

She’s burying her husband, and none of Victor’s kids can be here. You know, Beau’s still in a coma, and Isabella is gone, and Phillip can’t come home unless… He’s going to face the consequences of what he did to Brady. Actually, that’s not true anymore.

Philips alive. Yeah, alive and well. And he’s the one who framed Brady for his murder. He sure is. Is Brady going after him? Actually, uh, bell convinced Brady not to press charges, which means that Philip’s in the clear. Wow, I can’t believe this. I mean, what Philip did to Brady was… Insane? Yeah, in fact, he has spent this entire time away at a psychiatric hospital.

But they released him. Oh. So he’s better now? Yeah, apparently so. He said he did a lot of work on himself, and he recognizes where everything just went terribly wrong. Aw. Well, that’s good news. I guess so. And the best part is, now you don’t have to marry Xander.

I appreciate you getting here so fast. Vitaly’s inside Bayview? Can you get in there? Security is pretty tight. I’m not worried about it. So, how will you You really want to know the details, Mr. DeMera? No. No, I don’t care how you do it. As long as Ava suffers the same fate as my dearly departed mother.

Okay, so how do you know that Susan’s alive? Because when Marlena hypnotized me, it was like I was back there. It was like I was back in that night, Harris. What exactly did you see? I, I, I was lying on the ground. After the wreck, I mean, I… And everything was on fire, and as I was running, I just, I looked back, and I saw Susan.

She was outside of that car before it exploded. Ava, if you remembered all this, and Susan is alive, why didn’t you just tell Dr. Evans? Why would you lie?

When Marlene brought me out of hypnosis, I panicked. Okay, I just, I couldn’t bring myself to say it. I don’t know, I guess I just thought that she probably wouldn’t believe me. Come on, I mean, look, after all of this time, I suddenly remember that Susan is alive? Come on, I should probably think that I was just making it up so she could help me get out of this place.

Are you? Am I what? Are you making it up? No! Harris, come on! You have seen me! You know that the hallucinations are real!

Would she put me under? I just… I saw it so clearly.

Susan was alive before that car exploded.

Are you absolutely… Sure that Susan was alive? One hundred percent. Okay.

But where is Susan now? Where has she been all this time?

You sure about hiring me for this job? Of course I’m sure. I’ve commissioned your services in the past and I’ve always been happy with your work. And I appreciate the business. I just didn’t think you did this sort of thing anymore. As a rule, I don’t. But this is different. It’s possible. I understand. You don’t need to worry.

I’ll take care of the Vitali woman and it’ll never come back to you. Thank you. And once you’re done… See to it that Xandakiri Arcus follows her into the grave. He’s just as responsible for my mother’s death as Ava.

You don’t know anything about me and Sarah. Oh. So she didn’t dump you and leave Salem because you put on a clown mask to kidnap and kill E. J. DiMera’s mommy? I did not kill Susan Banks. Obviously Dr. Sarah doesn’t see it that way because from what I heard, she divorced your sorry ass so fast, she left skid marks.

Well, at least I’m not sitting outside the pub, crying my eyes out. I’ve moved on. Moved on to what? Bozo. The circus. What’s next, hmm? Juggling chainsaws. Getting shot out of a cannon. I’ll have you know, that I happen to be engaged. To Chloe Lang. Come on. You’re serious? This conversation’s over. No, hey, hey, hold on, hold on, hold on.

How on earth did you get Chloe Lane to give you the time of day after you left her in Mexico with Mateo, who’s the only man on the entire planet who’s a bigger piece of garbage than you are?

What kind of a thing is that to say? Xander? Well, because you were seeing Philip before he disappeared, and now he’s back. Chloe, I, I’m your friend. And I just want what’s best for you, and I know that you and Philip had a, had a good thing going. Nicole, he didn’t just disappear. He faked his own death and then framed Brady for murder, all because he couldn’t let me go!

Yeah, I know. Well, look, you, you said it yourself. He was sick, and now he’s better. I mean, don’t you think there’s a chance that maybe you could pick up where you left off?

Philip, what are you, what are you doing here? Is it safe? Totally. I am happy to report that Brady has graciously agreed to drop the charges against me, which means I’m free to be in Salem and to attend my father’s funeral. So you’re clear on everything? Assaulting Brady, faking your own death, and then framing Brady for it?

Bell really worked hard to convince Brady I deserved forgiveness. And amnesty. Well, uh, Congratulations. Thank you. I am, I’m so sorry about your father. I appreciate that. Look, I’m, I’m here to support you, Phillip, whatever you need, really. Thanks, bro. It means a lot. I gotta say, it’s kinda overwhelming to be back.

I’m sure a lot’s changed since I left. For starters, you’re having a baby. Ah, you noticed. Uh, can I ask who’s the father?

I’m, I’m the father, of course. And Sarah, Sarah and I are, are so excited about this pregnancy and, and getting married soon. Wow. I did miss a lot. I had no idea you were even back together. Yep. Yeah. Yes. And, uh, we are so excited that your future niece or nephew will get a chance to know you. Uh, but if you don’t mind, I’m actually going to go upstairs and lie down.

Of course. Yeah. Congratulations on the baby and your engagement. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, and welcome home.

I’m happy for you, Rex. I know you never really stopped loving Sarah. Thank you. Yes, she is the love of my life. Then I guess it all worked out. Especially now that Xander’s with Chloe. I guess, yeah. I mean, can you actually believe that she’s marrying that loser? I mean, what the hell is she thinking? Oh, no, no, Phillip.

Please tell me you are not still obsessed with Chloe.

Nicole, I will for the moment try to ignore the fact that you’re not even acknowledging that I’ve moved on with Xander, and tell you emphatically that I’m not going to just pick up where I left off with Phillip. As much as you think it’s a brilliant idea, God knows why. Well, I’ll, I’ll tell you why.

Because before things went off the rails, things were great between you and Philip. Right? And, and what if he’s back to the guy that you fell in love with and he still loves you? It doesn’t matter what he feels. I am with someone else now. As much as you have apparently chosen to block that from your mind.

I know you’re with someone else now, Chloe. But come on, do we ever really move on from our first love? I mean, isn’t there a part of your heart that still belongs to the first guy that you fell madly in love with? I’m sorry, are we still talking about me and Xander and Phillip, or have we somehow segwayed to you and Eric and EJ?

Mother,

I will not rest until I avenge you. The reprobates responsible for taking your life, they will pay with theirs.

I have no idea where Susan is. I mean, until about an hour ago, I thought she was in heaven stalking Elvis and annoying the hell out of St. Peter. What? Why are you looking at me like that? Because if Susan’s alive, somebody should be out there looking for her. I don’t know, maybe we should talk to Dr. Evans.

Or maybe, hold on, maybe we should contact EJ DiMera. Harris, no. He’s convinced that you killed his mother. Don’t you want him to know that she’s alive? Am

I interrupting? Not at all. I just thought I heard you talking to somebody. I was just talking to an image of my mother, who died fairly recently, as you may know. And the people who took her life are walking around freely, which has left me somewhat…

Bitter. Well, I know that feeling all too well. Your mother? Both my parents. My brother Colin and I, we vowed to avenge them too. But, I should just say that um, making promises like that leads you down a very dark path.

Watch yourself, Donovan. Hey, I’m just stating the facts. What happened in Mexico? That’s ancient history. Ancient history? Like Susan Banks? Well, Chloe knows that I’ve changed. Otherwise, why would she be with me? Ah, you’ve changed, have you? Well, you might want to tell that to the wild look I see in your eyes.

Because from what I can tell, you’re still the same sadistic psycho I’ve always known. You don’t know me. Oh, come on. I know plenty. You know, Brady told me when you guys were kids, you used to pluck the wings off of butterflies. You haven’t changed at all. Really? Well, did you also know before I… It was so unfortunate bumping into you, that someone just offered me a huge amount of money to do something terrible, and I turned them down flat.

I said no. Oh, Xander. You’re such a saint. But my guess, you just weren’t desperate enough. But you know, the second you are, you’re going to revert to form. And when you do, I hope it’s not too late for Chloe. Chloe loves me. She trusts me. Then I guess you have her fooled. And you know what? When things get bad, Xander, and they will get bad…

I hope that Chloe does all of us a favor and sticks a knife in you the same way she did El Fideo. And I’d be surprised if anyone came back for your funeral. Do you need to shut your mouth before I shut your hands off her!

Harris, if I tell EJ about his mother and he doesn’t believe me? Come on, he’s already said that he wants me dead for killing her. Yeah, only she’s not dead. Miss Vitale, it’s time for your medication.

I’ve never gotten a shot here. What medication is that? The doctor ordered something new to be added to your treatment. Something new? Yeah, what’s the name of the medication? Could you please step outside while I administer the injection? Okay, just hold on a second. Are you interfering with her treatment, sir?

Hey, why don’t you call your doctor and confirm that he ordered this? That’s a good idea. You think I’m lying? Of course not. But she has a right to know what drug she’s being given.

What better. I was hoping to do this the easy way, but GI Joe had to go and play the hero. Now you’re both gonna get a shot. Only. It’s not coming from a needle.

During my time away, I came to see that my love for Chloe turned into an addiction. That was unhealthy. And you’re better now, right? A lot better. So, even if you were to have romantic feelings for Chloe, you would be able to control how you act on those feelings. Exactly. Good. So… And so, with my feet firmly planted in reality, I will admit that

I am still head over heels in love with Chloe Lane. No, no, no. My situation with EJ and Eric is not the same as yours with Xander and Phillip. Oh no? What’s different? Well, first of all, Eric and I, what happened between us, the situation that, okay, you know what, maybe it is sort of the same. Yeah, and yet you still want me to dump Xander for Philip?

Fine. I shouldn’t have presumed to steer you in any kind of direction about your love life. Okay, but you, you did the same to me. Okay, as I recall, you gave me a whole bunch of grief about giving up on Eric and marrying EJ. I know I did that, but I eventually accepted it, whereas you proceeded to just give me a hell of a lot more grief about marrying Xander.

Which you totally ignored. And will continue to do so. Yes, but you actually have another option. Oh my goodness, I’m going to say this one more time. What I had with Philip is in the past. Just like what you had with Eric is in the past. Are you sure? About you and Eric? About you and Phillip. Come on, Chloe, tell me, what was it like when you saw Phillip again?

And be honest.

Okay, my heart skipped a beat when I saw him. Aha! But that’s only because I was shocked to see him alive. Or, or, maybe it was your heart telling you that he’s the one you’re supposed to be with. Right after you dumped Xander on his sketchy ass.

What can I say, Eric? Your cousin brings out the worst in me. Yeah, and that’s saying a lot. You know, Brady had the right idea about you, giving you the heave ho.

Get out you okay? Yeah. Did he hurt you? No, you know what, if you hadn’t come here and pulled him away, I would have been the one hurting him. He’s just, he’s a low life jerk. Yeah, what, what’s that all about anyway? Xander being Xander, you know, opening up old wounds. Yeah, well, it’s good to see you anyway. You in town for Victor’s funeral?

Yeah, I am. I mean, as much as we clashed, it just felt wrong not being here. Yeah, Victor’s been a big part of all of our lives. Yeah, he has. It’s so good to see you too, Eric.

Hey, um, my mom told me that you and your girlfriend lost a baby. Yeah, we did. I’m so sorry. Yeah, well… Is she okay? Actually, she just got released from the hospital.

Did you just come from the hospital? Oh, I didn’t even realize I still had that on. Nicole told me about your miscarriage. I’m very sorry for your loss. Thank you. I can only imagine how devastated Father Eric is. I know that becoming an actual father was a lifelong dream of his. Yeah. And I, uh, I imagine Nicole and I having a child must feel like salt in the wounds.

Now I know your condolences mean absolutely nothing. You’re actually enjoying this, aren’t you? Knowing Eric’s suffering. On the contrary, as a father, I know his pain.

And this may seem indelicate, but maybe… Being a parent just isn’t in the cards for him.

Maybe it is.

Well, I hope you’re right. That, uh, having a child isn’t in the cards for Eric. And you, of course. I’m very sorry that it can’t happen now. Losing a child, that’s a pain that no one deserves. My heart goes out to the both of you. Thank you for saying that.

So, will you be able to try again? You and Swan? In a few months? Actually, we just learned that she has a medical condition. That prevents her from carrying a child to full term. I’m so sorry. You know, I’m starting to believe that me being a father just is not a part of God’s plan. Eric, don’t say that, okay?

I mean… You know, it could still happen someday, and hey, I’m here to support you, okay? If you wanna just hang out or talk or just anything, you’ve always been such a comfort to me. You know, I’d do anything for you,

cuz. Think maybe you’d put in a good word with your brother for me? Brady? What? Are you interested in him? I mean, because the last time I recalled the two of you together, it just didn’t end so well. Never mind, forget I said anything. No, listen. Theresa, listen. No, you listen. I’m not going to pretend to know much about God and his plans.

But I know that any kid that had you as a dad would be the luckiest kid in the entire planet.

I see that look on your face. Yes, my feelings for Chloe are still strong. But, you don’t have to worry, I’m not gonna, I’m not gonna start chasing after her. Look, I don’t want you to do anything that’s gonna jeopardize your recovery. I appreciate that. But I meant, you don’t have to worry about me trying to break up Xander and Chloe.

Which would free up Xander to pursue Sarah. I’m not worried about that. Good. And, and, why would Xander bother doing that, huh? I mean, especially now that Sarah is carrying your baby. Right. Right.

Nicole, for the last time, I am with Xander now. Whether you or Phillip or anyone likes it. Fine. Fine. Understood. I sure hope so. Hey, can’t we just make a pact or something that you don’t get to choose who I’m with, just like I don’t get to choose who you are with? You got it. But just don’t come crying to me when Xander shows his true colors and does something to make you feel sorry that you ever laid eyes on him.

Hmm. Right back at ya with EJ.

Come here.

Who sent you? It was a DJ. They sent you to kill me. The person holding the gun gets to ask the questions. So, which one of you wants bullet number one? Ladies first?

I don’t need Eric to put in a good word for me with Brady, I can do it myself. No, no, Theresa, don’t, don’t seem too desperate on day one. I’m not giving up on you, Brady. I know we belong together.

Chloe! Hey! Oh! Hi! Thanks again for your help with Brady. It was all Belle. Uh, maybe. But, you could have stopped it. Instead, you stuck your neck out for me. It meant a lot. Look who’s enjoying his newfound freedom. Do you ever think you’d just be strolling through the square again, not caring the world? Xander?

Darling, I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long. You ready for dinner? Absolutely. See you. See you.

It’s all gone? Yeah. You didn’t tell him that… That the baby’s Anders? No, of course not. Thank you. I don’t love lying to my brother, but I know it’s what’s best. He’s still in love with Chloe, by the way. Oh, no. He’s not gonna try to pursue her. No, no, he said he wouldn’t, and I hope he’s telling the truth, because Xander, Mary, and Chloe…

It’s good for everyone. Especially you and your baby.

Do you still want to be a father? Uh, hi. Do you still want to be a father? Of course. So what do you say to you and me adopting a baby?

How’s my baby? Kicking like a football star. Real football or American football? Premier League, of course. Excellent. Excellent.

Something wrong? Oh, just business. Waiting on word from an associate that she’s closed a deal. This is where it ends. Cass!

[ Steffy gasps ]

Finn: What– what is it?

Steffy: I saw her. She’s out there.

Finn: Who?

Steffy: Sheila.

Finn: She– okay, then get– just, just come here, okay? Maybe– maybe, it’s just–

Steffy: Maybe, maybe what? Wait, you think I’m seeing things?

Liam: Sheila’s dangerous. She’s on the loose. And now you’re telling me that steffy has decided to– to go back to the cliff house with finn. Like, did she give you a reason why she would put the kids in that situation?

Ridge: She doesn’t have to give me a reason, I know why, she wants to put her family back together, go back to her house.

Liam: I know but– but being at that house could do more harm than good, ’cause sheila’s not gonna stay away. She can’t help herself when it comes to her son and her grandson. Now, you combine that with– with this soft spot finn has for his bio mom and I– I… this is why I’m worried something bad is gonna happen.

Rj: It’s almost concerning. I mean, you and thomas, you guys just can’t miss. Hope, this is– seriously, this is incredible. You– you’ve really– you’ve outdone yourself.

Hope: Thank you. I mean, we’ve put a lot of energy into hope for the future.

Rj: Forrester’s really investing in the new line, right? Speaking of forrester, have you shown any of the– the new sketches to my granddad? You know, like, just– just to get his two cents, he’d love it. I– I just hate to see him get lost in the shuffle, you know?

Hope: Lost in the shuffle?

Rj: Yeah.

Hope: Rj, eric is the face of forrester creations.

Rj: Do you think that’s all he is now? Like, do you think he’s just a figure head?

Hope: No, of– of course not. But at the same time, I mean, all companies do eventually have to evolve and grow.

Rj: Right, with you and thomas leading the way.

Hope: Um… what are you implying?

Rj: I am not implying anything, I’m just saying, I don’t think that the founder should be forgotten about in his own company. That’s all.

Hope: Okay, well, that is not happening. Are– is that really what this is about or, um, is this maybe more about thomas and me?

Rj: Wow. Oh– yeah. Actually, you know what, now that you’ve brought it up, yeah, I am very concerned about you and no, I don’t want to talk about him or what the situation’s done to your marriage. Hope, are you really done with liam or not?

Liam: I don’t like how this feels, ridge. I don’T.

Ridge: I gotta ask you, why do you think it’s necessary to tell me how you’re feeling about this? How awful this is?

Liam: That’s fair. I’m not– I’m not trying to alarm you–

Ridge: No, because I’m already alarmed, right? Because sheila’s running around free.

Liam: And I know how much you love your daughter, so–

Ridge: Yes.

Liam: I’m sorry.

>Ridge: Almost as much as you do, I bet.

Liam: Yeah. No. Yes, I love steffy. I always have. That’s not gonna change. That’s not– this is– this is about safety because wherever– wherever finn, is he attracts sheila like a magnet and so steffy and the kids are not safe when they’re around him.

Steffy: I swear, I just saw sheila. Wait, what– what are you doing? Where are you– finn, where are you going?

Finn: I’m making sure she’s not here.

Steffy: Finn, no, no. Be careful.

Finn: What are you doing here?

Sheila: I needed to see you, sweetheart. I– I miss my son. And cirkul has over 40 flavors, so your water can be as unique as you are. Try cirkul at drinkcirkul.Com oh

Rj: Listen, if you don’t want to talk to me about your marriage or the potential divorce, that’s fine. I just, I– I might have talked to mom and she might have told me that you went and– and talked to liam and fought for your second chance at the marriage and, um…

Hope: Ah, okay. Um, yeah.

Rj: Yeah?

Hope: I just wanted to make sure that– that we did everything we could. You know, I felt like liam and I reconnected at beth’s birthday party and then, you know, he had this great talk with me afterward about thomas and I just, I felt like, I don’t know, maybe he wanted another chance at us, at our marriage. So then, I went to him and I– I put all the cards on the table and yeah, he– he shot me down.

Rj: Why? I– why would he say one thing and then do completely the opposite? I mean, why– why was he leading you on?

Hope: Have you met liam spencer? Look, rj. He said he would always love me, but he just… he can’t forgive me.

Rj: He can’t forget what you did with thomas. So, that’s the key to this whole thing, really. I mean, he would have forgiven you if it was any other man, right? But because it was thomas, he can’t forgive you.

Hope: Yeah.

Ridge: I’m grateful. I really am. I’m grateful for the, uh, the concern that you’ve shown my daughter. But I have to wonder how much of that is based on this newly discovered love that you have for her. And I gotta wonder how that would change if your situation with hope were different.

[ Liam chuckles ]

Liam: That’s a good question. It’s a valid question and you deserve an answer.

Steffy: Finn! Are you okay?

Finn: No, I’m fine. Okay? I got her. I got sheila.

Steffy: Oh, my god.

Finn: You can’t be here.

Sheila: You’ve got to believe I just came to see you, not to do anybody any harm. I miss you more than you can possibly imagine.

Finn: You’re coming with me.

Steffy: No, no, finn. What are you doing? You can’t bring sheila into our house. Finn. Oh, my god.

Finn: We are finally putting an end to this right here, right now, once and for all. Thoughts, martin?

Rj: I feel awful, hope. I mean, if you ever need anything at all, you know you can always talk to me, right? I know that you feel alone. You must feel really lost.

Hope: Thomas, I just need to say one thing. Liam let me down and I’m hurting and I am going to need some time, but… that doesn’t mean that I don’t want you. Is that, um, is that something you can handle?

Rj: It’s just so unfair. It’s not like liam hasn’t hurt you in the past. You’re gonna get through this. I know you will.

Hope: Yes, I will.

Liam: My concern for steffy, it’s– it’s not born of some plot to undermine your daughter’s marriage, if that’s what you’re thinking. You’re– you– you’re right. You’re right. I love her. I do and I’m– and I am motivated by that love but that– that’s why I care about her safety.

Ridge: Okay. Happy to hear it. You gotta keep her safe, keep the grandkids safe.

Liam: Yeah. Yeah. And that’s so– I– I agree and– and so we– we have to figure out what to do here because honestly I’m worried that if– if steffy goes back to the house that something’s gonna happen and both of our daughters–

Ridge: Okay, let me ask you something. Do you know, the story of steffy when she broke her arm when she was a kid?

Liam: Uh, yeah, she thought– she thought she could fly.

Ridge: Mm-hmm. Yes. Well, there’s more to that story. We were in greece. We– we had rented this house, it’s a nice spot. Um, it was on a cliff, you know, and I was, uh, in the kitchen one morning I looked out the window and there was phoebe, uh, thomas and steffy, they were playing and then steffy started walking towards the patio. It was a bit of a drop off. So I went outside and I said, you know, “you gotta be careful.” And she gave me the look, you know the look.

Liam: The, um, “is that a challenge?”

Ridge: Yeah. That look. And she told me, she said, “I’m about to– to show my brother and my sister that I can fly and I’m gonna show you too,” she said. And the more I asked her to get away from the edge, the closer she got. And then finally, standing there, looked me right in the eye, didn’t break eye contact and she jumped. Boom, broken arm, humorous. Eight weeks in the cast. And we have a story that I’m gonna keep telling. Two things I learned that day. Number one, steffy can’t fly. Number two, if you challenge her, she will defy you. I thought for years if I hadn’t pushed her so much, then maybe she wouldn’t have jumped and she probably wouldn’t have. So, here’s a thing to remember. We can be concerned, we can be cautious, we can make sure she’s all right, but we can’t push her ’cause it makes things worse.

Liam: What if I can’t do that here?

Ridge: You have to. We have to. We think we’re right. She thinks she’s right. She wants to put her family back together. She wants her husband, her kids in her house on her terms. And even if we know it’s dangerous, it doesn’t matter because if we push her, she will jump, try to fly away.

Steffy: Finn, why is this woman in her home?

Finn: Look, let’s just settle this right now.

Sheila: I– I told him outside, I only came to see him, my son.

Steffy: Stop calling him that. He’s not your son.

Sheila: No, it’s true. I am his mother. I gave birth to him. You of all people should know about this, steffy. You know, it really doesn’t matter what you or anyone else feels about me. It’s never going to change the fact that I am finn’s mother. Baby, I– I am so sorry. I didn’t want to cause any kind of a scene. I didn’t even know steffy was here. The last thing I wanted to do was cause trouble for you. I– I just can’t stop thinking about the memories that we’ve shared recently. These moments. You embraced me again and again and we had a deep connection. I felt it. It’s– I’m right. I– I know that I’m right, so please just– just tell steffy. Will you tell her that I’m right?

Rj: Hear me out because you know, when you’re in the middle of something, it’s– it’s very difficult to have clarity, yes?

Hope: Oh, I’m seeing things clearly.

Rj: Okay. Well, humor me then. Hope… I know what you want. You want to be happy, you want to feel loved and you want to be fulfilled. Yes?

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Rj: You also want to be a successful businesswoman and the best mother you can be. That is an incredibly tall order, right? But I know you can do it. You know how I know you can do it? Because you have done it before. But in order to achieve it, you had to put yourself first. Here. Just close your eyes for a second. Humor me. Just humor me, please.

Hope: Okay.

Rj: I want you to think of somebody who compliments you in those things. Somebody who makes you feel all of those things. Who is going to build you up and support you? Hope. I think we know the answer to that.

Liam: Steffy is steffy. But sheila is sheila and we know– we know the lengths she’ll go to to get what she wants.

Ridge: And what she wants right now is finn and hayes and her happily ever after.

Liam: Yes, yes. This, ridge, exa– this is my point, right? What if– what if sheila sees steffy as an obstacle to that? What does sheila do to an obstacle? What does she do? She gets rid of it.

Steffy: Sheila, I don’t wanna hear another word out of your mouth. Finn, I don’t understand why she’s here.

Sheila: He just told you. He’d like to put an end to this once and for all and quite frankly, so would I, steffy. I mean, there’s got to be a way as– as a family that we can move on from this.

Steffy: A family? What are you talking about?

Sheila: A family because that’s what we are. I am finn’s mother. You’re hayes’s mother. I am hayes’s grandmother. That’s a family.

Steffy: I don’t care if you gave birth to finn, you are never gonna be part of our family, sheila. Tell her.

Sheila: Look, sweetheart. Look, I know that I’ve made mistakes, mistakes that I’m gonna regret for a lifetime. But regardless of what has happened in the past, I am– I am– I am not evil. My god, I– I saved kelly’s life for god’s sakes. I– I saved your daughter’s life, steffy. I– does that mean anything to you at all? Please just give me an opportunity, an opportunity to show you all how I really have– I’ve changed. I– I can be a good, a nurturing mother, a– a good part of all of your lives. Just give me a chance. Please don’t turn your back on me, finn. Please.

Steffy: Finn, please do not listen to her. Don’t listen to what she’s saying. You vowed to protect us, me and the kids. We– we were gonna come back. Now, tell her. Tell this monster you want nothing to do with her.

Sheila: Oh, my son, I love you. You know that that’s not true. I am not a monster. Please don’t turn your back on me. I know that you feel what I feel. I can see it in your eyes, finn. We are so much more alike than you realize. I know you were raised by loving parents and– and they– they– they supported you. They– they were giving you all that– that you needed, but that wasn’t enough, was it? You still wondered about me, didn’t you? And you told me that. You– you told me when you first met me that you had this desire to know me, your– your birth mother, that there was this connection, this– this– this visceral connection that was just tugging at your heart. And believe me, baby, I– I know that feeling more than you could possibly know because I– I was your first love and your first home, your first everything. We have the same blood that is flowing through our veins. And now, we have an opportunity after all these years to– to finally be together again. So please, don’t cut me out of your life, finn. Don’t turn your back on your mother.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Sloan wanted to talk to Eric about something. He wanted to know what she wanted to discuss so she apologized about the baby. Eric didn’t blame her for losing the baby. He said they could still have a future together. He wanted to make dinner for her, but she wanted to take a walk to clear her head. She agreed to meet him later. After Eric left her room, she blamed herself for why Eric wouldn’t be a father to either child. She thought about changing Nicole’s paternity test results. EJ met with the woman he hired to kill Ava. She wanted to know if she was at Bayview. He wondered if it would be a problem. She said it wouldn’t be and he wanted to know how she would get in there. She wondered if he wanted the details, and he told her that he didn’t. He just wanted Ava deal like his mother. She was shocked he wanted to go through with the plan since he didn’t operate like that anymore. He said he didn’t operate that way, but Ava was different. He gave her an envelope full of money. He told her that he wanted her to kill Xander too. After the woman left, Sloan walked by EJ. They talked about avenging their parents’ deaths. She warned him that getting revenge can send you down the wrong path. EJ gave his condolences to her. She thought he enjoyed Eric suffering. He didn’t enjoy it, but he thought Eric wasn’t meant to be a father after all. Sloan didn’t agree with him.

Xander ran into Theresa outside of the pub. He saw her crying and she told him that she was crying because of Victor. He didn’t believe her. She admitted that she was crying over Brady. He thought it was funny how Brady rejected her. She reminded him that Sarah did the same thing to him. They continued to argue until he told her that he was marrying Chloe. They kept arguing and Xander grabbed her arm. Eric showed up and stopped him from grabbing her. Rex wanted to make sure Sarah was okay. She told him that didn’t have Braxton-Hicks anymore. He was happy about that. He thought they should get married before the baby was born. She wanted to make sure he was okay with the fact that she wanted to keep Xander from knowing the truth. He was well aware of that and wanted to marry her. He wanted to make her fall in love with him. She didn’t want to do it around Victor’s funeral because she didn’t think that would be right. She wanted to be there for Maggie. She thought it was sad that none of his kids could be there. Philip showed up just as they were talking about him. They were surprised to see him. Sarah was shocked to see him. Philip told them that Brady agreed to drop the charges against him. She offered her condolences to him. Philip asked her about the father of her baby. They said Rex was the father. He congratulated them. Harris wanted to know where Susan was, but Ava didn’t know. He thought they should tell Marlena, but she didn’t want to do it. He thought they should tell EJ, but she didn’t want to do that either. The assassin had a needle and told Ava it was time to take her medication. Ava told her that she never had an injection before. The assassin said it was a new medication the doctor gave her. Harris wanted to know what the medication was and she wanted him to leave. He told Ava to call her doctor, but the assassin pulled a gun on them before she could make the call. She told them that they were both going to die. She wanted to know who was going first. Harris fought the woman and she dropped the gun. Ava grabbed it and aimed it at the woman.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Ava is in her room at Bayview when Harris comes in to visit. Harris notes missing her at breakfast and informs her that Marlena has agreed to help her. Harris adds that he thought Ava would be more excited about that. Ava says she appreciates him going to bat for her, but she changed her mind as she doesn’t want to talk about Susan Banks and wants to forget that Susan ever existed.

EJ has a dream about his mom Susan Banks coming back but then wakes up on the couch in the living room of the DiMera Mansion.

Theresa Donovan surprises Brady by showing up at his door. She starts talking about her flight but Brady says he doesn’t understand and questions what she is doing in Salem.

Marlena sits with John and Steve at the Pub. John asks her about the new case that she has for them. Marlena explains that she met an interesting man at the hospital who is in his 90s and he was found wandering on the side of the road. Marlena adds that his memory is almost non existent as he’s not sure of his own identity. Steve guesses she wants them to figure out who he is. Marlena confirms that and also finding out who his long lost son is.

Julie goes to the hospital and takes a seat next to the John Doe. Julie talks about being at the hospital because Doug stubbed his toe on the coffee table. He tells her that he’s waiting on test results. Julie decides they can keep each other company and introduces herself, but when she asks who he is, he says that seems to be the million dollar question and that everyone has been calling him Mr. Doe. Julie says she’s sorry to hear that he’s suffering from memory loss and asks if he has any idea what caused it. He notes that Kayla said it could be from a head injury as he apparently has a bad scar on the back of his head which he jokes about. Julie talks about him reminding her of her uncle Tommy, who also suffered from memory loss after having plastic surgery and not remembering who he was. He tells her that something about that story sounds familiar to him and jokes that maybe he is her Uncle Tommy.

Marlena tells John and Steve about the man trying to find his son and that he wasn’t sure where he came from but he had memories of a farm. John says they’d be happy to help but they don’t have a lot to go on. Marlena adds that the man remembered a lot of fighting going on when trying to get back to his son. John guesses that he could’ve been off fighting in a war.

Harris thought Ava wanted to talk to Marlena and questions what changed. Ava thinks it might all just be a huge waste of time. Ava points out that she hasn’t had a vision of Susan since yesterday so maybe it’s over. Ava then imagines Susan appearing behind her, urging her to tell the truth. Ava questions what “Susan” wants her to say. She tells Ava that she needs to tell the truth about the accident.

Xander calls Chloe and leaves a message, inviting her to dinner in the town square so they can start talking about their wedding. Xander adds that Philip is not invited as he hangs up. Xander then worries about sounding insecure about Philip. EJ then shows up at the door and pulls a gun on Xander.

Theresa comments on Brady not making her feel welcomed. Brady says he didn’t mean to sound unfriendly but he’s wondering why she is suddenly here at his door. Theresa responds that she came to pay her respects to Victor since he is their son’s great grandfather. Theresa adds that Tate had school so she came alone for the funeral. Brady questions why since Theresa and Victor were never really close at all. Theresa admits they had a scratchy relationship but says they had a tender breakthrough when she left with El Fideo to protect Brady and Tate. Theresa adds that when she finally escaped from Mexico, Victor wanted her and Brady to be together. Brady jokes that is because Victor would’ve preferred anyone over Eve. Brady adds that’s also why Victor advised her to keep quiet about Chloe when Theresa and Xander left her stranded in Mexico with El Fideo. Theresa argues that was all Xander’s decision and she had nothing to do with that. Theresa declares that Xander is the entire reason that she and Brady are not together and she will always hate him for that.

Xander questions EJ pulling a gun on him. EJ states that he’s been thinking about his mother a lot lately and what a wonderful, loving person she was and how much he misses her. EJ declares that for far too long, he’s allowed her murder to go unavenged. Xander understands it was a terrible tragedy but argues that it was not his fault, it was all Ava. Xander states that Ava drove Susan off the cliff so if anyone deserves to die, it’s Ava. EJ agrees with him and then offers his gun to Xander, declaring that is why he wants Xander to kill Ava.

Ava questions his vision of Susan wanting her to tell the truth about the night she drove off the road. Ava argues that she already told that truth and it’s not a secret. Harris asks if she’s seeing Susan again. Ava says yes but then her vision disappears. Harris asks what she said this time. Ava responds that she keeps telling her to tell the truth and that she’s lying about the night of the accident. Ava swears that she doesn’t know what she was talking about. Harris encourages that she cannot do this on her own and urges her to talk to Marlena. Harris tells her that he can call Marlena now if Ava says the word.

Steve thinks John may be onto something since if the man was fighting in a war, it could explain how he was separated from his son. John says the military would have his fingerprints on file if he served, so he suggests getting his prints and running them through the database. Marlena then gets a call from Harris and steps away to answer it. Marlena tells him to tell Ava that she will be right there and hangs up. Marlena then tells John and Steve that she has to go to Bayview. Marlena asks if she can tell Kayla that they might be willing to help Mr. Doe. Steve says he can talk to Kayla about that later but right now they might have another way to crack this thing. Marlena thanks them and expresses how much she’d like to help the man track down his son. John tells her not to worry as Black Patch is on the case.

Julie tells Mr. Doe that her Uncle Tommy passed away several years ago. He guesses the search for his identity will have to continue as well as the identity of his son. He talks about not remembering much and that he and his son never met, but he feels that he is somewhere nearby. Julie encourages that finding his son could help fill in a lot of these blanks. He mentions a lot of nice people around offering to help but he can’t wait to get out there and find his son himself. Julie tells him that she has pull at the hospital so she’ll go see if she can speed things up for him while checking on Doug. Julie walks away while Mr. Doe wonders why Tommy sounds so familiar. Julie wheels Doug back over and introduces him to Mr. Doe. Julie tells him that Kayla will be sending an orderly to escort him to the tests. He thanks her. Doug asks Mr. Doe if he is married. He responds that now that he mentions it, he is and declares that he has a wife.

Steve finishes a call with Brookville police and they have no missing persons matching the description. Steve and John talk about how the man could have been walking for a couple days. John wonders if he was a veteran, he could’ve been at a VA hospital. John calls the nearest VA and asks if any patients have come up missing in the last couple of days. They say they have so John asks what they can tell him about the patient.

Marlena visits Ava with Harris at Bayview. Ava tells Marlena that when she sees Susan, she tells her that she’s not telling the truth about the accident but she doesn’t know why because she feels like she’s told the whole truth. Marlena suggests it could be something deep in her subconscious and offers to try hypnosis if she wants. Ava agrees to give it a shot. Harris wishes Ava luck and exits the room.

Xander questions EJ wanting him to shoot Ava. EJ says it’s about justice and redemption as he’s giving him the opportunity to make up for what he did to Susan. EJ knows he’s asking a lot which is why he’s willing to pay handsomely for it. Xander tells EJ that he’s not comfortable with any of this. EJ writes down his money offer and asks if that alleviates his concerns.

Brady tells Theresa that he’s no fan of Xander but he doesn’t think it’s fair to blame him for their break up as she was not exactly honest with him. Theresa admits her lies damaged their relationship. Brady adds that she escalated things by suing for full custody of Tate, which is why Victor turned on her again. Theresa acknowledges that Victor could be mercurial, but bottom line is that Victor knew they were good together and they had something special. Brady agrees that they did but it was awhile ago. Theresa argues that after all these years apart, she still thinks about him and what could’ve been. Brady starts to say he doesn’t but Theresa grabs him and kisses him. Brady pulls away and says this is a bad idea. Theresa points out that she’s single and she hears that he’s not with Chloe or Kristen anymore. Theresa asks if there is someone else. Brady admits there’s not, so Theresa thinks maybe it’s the perfect timing to give their relationship another shot.

Doug questions Mr. Doe forgetting he has a wife. He says he can’t remember her name but he can picture her face. Julie explains that he’s suffering from memory loss. Doug relates to having trouble remembering things before but he was possessed by the Devil. Doug asks if his wife is looking for him. He says he hopes so as he thinks he loved her very much.

John and Steve meet with the man in charge at the VA, who thanks them for calling about Mr. Bell. He talks about him suffering memory loss from an old head injury suffered in the war. He identifies the man as Joseph Bell. Steve asks if he has any idea where he’s originally from. He tells them that they’ve been unable to track that down as he just transferred a couple months ago and they don’t know much about him. John asks about his military files. He says his entire life history is locked up in his brain and they don’t know how to reach it.

Marlena begins hypnotizing Ava, going back to the night that Susan died. Marlena asks what happened right before the car went off the road. Ava recalls trying to escape from EJ and speeding up. Ava remembers being unable to think straight while she was imagining her son Charlie telling her what to do next and Susan kept going about her lucky hat. Ava says EJ kept getting closer and she couldn’t shake him while her vision of Charlie kept taunting her about what to do next. Ava says the car went flying off the cliff and she barely got out in time before it hit, but she must have gotten knocked out because everything goes black. Marlena asks what happened when she regained consciousness. Ava remembers lying on the ground and she could see the car in smoke and flames. Ava knew it was going to explode so she forced herself to get up and run away. Marlena asks what happened to Susan.

Xander tells EJ to forget it as no amount of money is worth another death on his conscience. Xander talks about being plagued with horrible nightmares since Susan’s death. EJ says they have that in common which is why he’s doing this as he cannot rest easy until he avenges his mother’s death. Xander tells him that he feels terrible about what happened to Susan and he’s so sorry as she didn’t deserve it. EJ tells Xander to do something about it then because Susan will not be able to rest in peace until Ava pays for what she did. EJ declares that Xander owes it to Susan to help him. Xander argues that EJ wants him to get rid of Ava for him, so he can make sure that he takes the fall and takes out two birds with one stone. EJ says if Xander gives him what he wants, he’ll have no reason to double cross him. Xander feels he has plenty of reason to want him to pay and tells him to get the hell out. EJ warns that he’s let his mother’s death go unavenged for far too long, so it’s time for Xander and Ava to pay the price. EJ then exits.

Harris returns to Ava’s room as Marlena finishes hypnosis and asks how it went. Ava responds that she didn’t remember anything new. Marlena decides she will consult with Ava’s doctors to see if it can help her remember more. Marlena tells Ava that she’s sorry she couldn’t do more. Ava thanks her and says she appreciates her kindness. Harris then walks Marlena out.

Brady questions Theresa wanting to jump back in to a relationship with him, reminding her how toxic they were at times and how much they hurt each other. Theresa argues that the good times outweigh the bad. Theresa reminds him of their makeshift wedding in their bedroom that wasn’t official but was the most romantic night of her life. Brady tells Theresa that he does not want to go back down that road with her, now or ever. Brady then asks Theresa to just go, so she then exits.

The John Doe known as Joseph Bell comments on Doug and Julie being obviously in love. Doug notes they’ve been married over 50 years and they talk about their memories. Joseph talks about singing along to the radio. Doug sings “Tea For Two” which Joseph recognizes and says he used to dance with his wife to it. Joseph suggests they dance, so they do as the three of them sing together.

John assumes Joseph doesn’t have any family they can contact. Steve brings up that Joseph talked about trying to find his son. The man at the VA confirms he’s talked about it but was fuzzy on the details. John asks if there’s anything else he can share. He says he can’t share his medical information but gives a file on Joseph’s military history. John looks through it and sees that Joseph served in the Korean War. John then comes across something and says he doesn’t believe this.

Julie thanks Doug and Joseph for the song and dance, saying she can’t remember the last time she had so much fun. Joseph praises Doug’s voice. Doug tells him that his dancing was very entertaining. Julie says she does need to get Doug home. Joseph says he enjoyed meeting them. Doug and Julie hope he figures his name out and finds his son. Joseph thanks them and feels he will get some answers pretty soon.

John informs Steve that Joseph Bell served in the same unit as his biological father, Yo Ling. John talks about gathering as much information he could and it’s definitely the same unit. Steve calls it a coincidence and that they must have known each other. John guesses they are about to find out.

Brady tells himself that Theresa is out of her mind as they are not right for each other and never have been. Brady then thinks back to their makeshift wedding that she referenced.

Theresa sits outside the Brady Pub, crying over an old photo of her and Brady. Xander then walks by and is surprised to see her.

EJ walks through the park and makes a call, saying he has a job for them as he wants them to kill Ava Vitali.

Harris returns to Ava’s room and says he’s sorry that was a bust. Ava reveals it wasn’t a bust as she lied to Marlena. Harris questions what she’s talking about. Ava declares that she remembers everything now and that Susan Banks is alive!

[ Soft dramatic music ]

Harris: Hey, you.

Ava: Hey.

Harris: Um, missed you at breakfast, and you’ve missed out on my news.

Ava: Oh,  it good news.

Harris: Well, after I told Dr. Evans about your visions of Susan. She, uh– she agreed to help you.

Ava: Did she?

Harris: Well, I thought you’d be more excited.

Ava: Yeah, look, I really appreciate you going to bat for me, Harris. I– just, I changed my mind. I don’t want to talk about Susan Banks. I would just prefer to forget that she ever existed.

[ footsteps approaching ]

EJ: Mother? [ Gasps] Oh, I can’t believe this! [ Laughing ]

[ Susan squeals ]

EJ: My God, I’ve missed you so much!

[ Both laughing ]

Susan: You know what? Have you, son? Hmm? For real?

EJ: Of course. Wh– What do you mean?

Susan: Well, you know, you don’t seem terribly upset that– uh, about my sticking untimely death. Yeah? I mean, you were all cuddled up there on that couch, sleeping like a baby.  [ Laughs ]

EJ: What?

[ Dramatic musical sting ]

[ somber music ]

EJ: [ Sighs ]

Brady: Theresa.

Theresa: Brady, you will never believe the fight I had. I was sitting next to this five-year-old who may or may not have been an actual, real life gremlin. I mean, the kid was throwing an epic tantrum for three hours straight. I swear, I thought I was going to have to give him one of my sleeping pills.

Brady: Yeah, I don’t– I don’t understand.

Theresa: Well, it was a joke, Brady. I wouldn’t drug a kid.

Brady: No,No. No– I don’t understand what you’re doing here. Why are you in Salem?

Marlena: Thanks.

John: Okay, so what’s this new case you have for us? [ Chuckles ]

Marlena: Well, I met a very interesting man at the hospital today.

John: And how interesting are we talking about?

Marlena: Oh, stop. He’s in his 90s.

John: [ Laughs ] Okay. All right. Go on.

Marlena: Well, he was– he was found wandering on the side of the road. And after Kayla had checked him out, she asked if I would take a look at him.

John: Mm hmm.

Steve: And how’d he seem?

Marlena: He, um– well, his cognitive skills are quite good. But his long- and short-term memory, um… well, almost nonexistent. He’s not exactly sure of his own identity.

John: Yeah, I been there.

Steve: So, I’m guessing you want us to figure out who he is.

Marlena: Yes. And also try to figure out who his long-lost son is.

Julie: Excuse me, is that seat taken?

Joe: It is now.

Julie: Thank you.  Ah. Well, my husband stubbed his toe on the coffee table. So, we thought we’d better get an X-ray to make sure it’s not broken. Uh, his toe, not the coffee table.

Joe: [ Laughs ]

Julie: So now I have all this paperwork.

Joe: Yeah, I’ve been waiting for some tests myself. Seems to be a backup.

Julie: Well, I’m sure we can keep each other company while we’re waiting. I’m Julie Williams.

Joe: Nice to meet you, Julie Williams.

Julie: And you are?

Joe: Well, right now, that seems to be the million dollar question.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Joe: And since I can’t remember who I am, everybody around here is calling me Mr. Doe.

Julie: I see. Well, I’m so sorry you’re suffering from memory loss. Do you have any idea what caused this?

Joe: Not really. Dr. Johnson says it may be from an old head injury or some kind.  Evidently, I got a really bad scar on the back of my noggin here.

Julie: Do you know what might have caused that?

Joe: No. I’m telling everybody I fought off a grizzly bear. Makes me sound kind of edgy and cool, you know.

Julie: Gee, you remind me of my Uncle Tommy. You look like you might be about the same age.

Joe: Is your Uncle Tommy cool and edgy?

Julie: Not so you’d notice. But he did suffer from memory loss, also.

Joe: Well, how?

Julie: Well, he served in Korea. He was wounded. He had to have plastic surgery. Whole new face. And he came home and just had no idea who he was.

Joe: Huh. Something about that story sounds familiar to me.

Julie: Why should it?

Joe: Maybe I’m your Uncle Tommy.

Marlena: While I was talking to him, he talked about trying to find his son. He’d had a dream about it and then he just began walking.

Steve: Walking from where?

Marlena: He wasn’t sure. He said he had some memories of a farm.

John:  A farm? 90, walking… Maybe from somewhere around Brookville. That’s the nearest rural area, right?

Marlena: That’s what I thought, but that didn’t sound familiar to him.

John: Well, Doc, we’d be happy to help the guy out, but to be honest with you, we don’t have a whole lot to go on here.

Marlena: There is one other thing. Mr. Doe said when he was trying so hard to get back to his son, he remembered that there was a lot of fighting going on.

Steve: Fighting? What kind of fighting?

Marlena: He didn’t say.

Steve: Huh.

John: Well, just a guess here, but it kind of sounds to me he might have been off fighting in a war somewhere.

Harris: I thought you wanted to talk to Dr. Evans. What– what changed?

Ava: I’m just– I’m thinking it just might all be a huge waste of time. You know, and look, I haven’t had a vision of Susan since yesterday, so maybe it’s over.

Susan: Oh, don’t be such an itty-bitty scaredy kitty. Ava, you need to tell the truth.

Ava: About what?

Harris: Ava.

Ava: Just tell me what you want me to say.

Susan: Well, isn’t it obvious, sister? You need to tell the truth about the accident.

Xander: Oh, hey, Chloe, darling. I, I assume you’re still visiting with Nicole. I was just wondering if maybe we could, you know, grab dinner in The Square afterwards and start discussing our wedding. You know, maybe talk about some potential datest. The– the guest list… Oh, for the record, Phillip is not invited. Okay, love you. Very smooth, Xander. Didn’t sound insecure about Philip at all.

[ Knock at door ]

[ Suspenseful music

Xander: What are you doing here?

Theresa: Oh, wow, you sure know how to make a girl feel welcomed.

Brady: Oh, okay. I didn’t, I didn’t mean it to sound unfriendly. I’m just wondering why all of a sudden you’re here at my doorstep.

Theresa: Isn’t it obvious? Look, I’m here to pay my respects to Victor. I mean, he’s our son’s great-grandfather.

Brady: No, I know. Um, I assume you didn’t bring Tate.

Theresa: No, no, he had school. I didn’t want him to miss class, so I came alone, for the funeral.

Brady: Right. But why? Theresa, you– you and my grandfather were never really that close at all.

Theresa: Sure. I mean, we had a scratchy relationship, but… Victor and I really had a tender breakthrough when I left with El Fideo to protect you and Tate.

[ Dramatic music ]

Victor: I hope you can get enough on El Fideo to put him behind bars.

Theresa: Me, too. This is the only way my family, not that you care. Sorry.

Victor: Actually, I’m very proud of what you’re doing.

Theresa: [ Laughs tearfully ] Okay. Who are you and what have you done to Victor Kiriakis?

Victor: I mean it. Brady would feel the same way if he knew what you were doing to your family.

Theresa: No, he can’t know.

Victor: You’ve come a long way, Jeannie Theresa. And I want you to know no matter what happens, we’ll always consider you a part of the Kiriakis family.

Theresa: [ Sobs ]

Victor: [ Speaking Greek] Eláte píso se emás.  That means: come back to us.

Theresa: When I finally escaped from Mexico, Victor wanted you and me to be together.

Brady: That’s because he would have chosen just about anybody besides Eve. A rabid possum would have been more preferable to him.

Theresa: [ Laughs ]  Yeah.  e sure did hate my sister, didn’t he?

Brady: Yeah, he did. That’s also why he advised you to keep quiet about Chloe when you and Xander left her stranded in Mexico with El Fideo.

Theresa: Brady, that was– No, that was all Xander’s decision, okay? I had nothing to do with that. I didn’t– Wh– Xander’s the entire reason why you and I aren’t together, and… [ Sighs] Brady, I will always hate him for that.

Xander: Whoa, what th– what’s all this, then?

EJ: I’ve been thinking about my mother a lot lately, about what a wonderful and loving person she was, how much I miss her, and about how for far too long I’ve allowed her murder to go unavenged.

Xander: EJ, I understand what happened to her was a terrible tragedy, I know you’re hurting right now, but that was not my fault.  That was all Ava!  She’s the one who drove Susan off that cliff. If anyone deserves to die for what happened, it’s her.

EJ: I agree with you.

Xander: You do?

EJ: Yes, I do. Which is why I want you to kill her.

Ava: What, what do you mean, tell the truth? -I- I don’t understand. Are you talking about the night that I drove the car off the road?

Susan: Yes, of course I am. Why else would I be here?

Ava: I already told them the truth. I- I- I told them that I drove it off the road. It’s not a secret.

Harris: Ava, are you seeing Susan again?

Ava: Yeah, she’s– She’s… she’s gone.

Harris: What’d she say this time?

Ava: She keeps telling me to- to tell the truth, that I– that I’m lying about the night of the accident, but I swear to you, I don’t know what she was talking about.

Harris: Hey, you cannot do this on your own. You can’t. You should talk to Dr. Evans. I can call her right now. Just say the word.

Steve: You know, I think John is on to something. If our Mr. Doe was fighting in a war, it could explain why he was separated from his son.

John: Well, you know, if he did serve, the military would have his fingerprints on file.

Marlena: Could you access those?

John: Sure, just get his prints right up through the database.

Marlena: So sorry. Oh, oh, I’m sorry, it’s an… Gotta take this. Dr. Evans? Yes, Harris. Oh, alright, uh, uh, tell her I will be right there. Thanks. Um, I’m sorry, I’ve got to go out to, uh, to Bayview. Is it alright if I, uh, tell Kayla that you might be trying to help out our Mr. Doe?

Steve: Well, I can talk to her about that later. I think right now we can figure out another way to crack this thing.

Marlena: Alright, thanks. He’s such a darling man, my goodness. I’d like to help him track down his son.

John: Don’t worry about it, Doc. Black Patch is on the case. [ Chuckles ]

Julie: I’m sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Doe. You can’t possibly be my Uncle Tommy. Well, he passed away several years ago.

Joe: Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Well, I guess, uh, the search for my identity is going to have to continue along with my search for my son.

Julie: You have a son?

Joe: That’s what brought me to your neck of the woods.  It’s a funny thing. I don’t remember much, but I have this feeling. He and I never met, but I just know he’s somewhere nearby.

Julie: Well, if you find your son. He’ll probably be able to help you fill in all these blanks in your life.

Joe: Mm hmm. Fingers crossed. A lot of nice people around here have offered to help me search for them, but I can’t wait to get out there and find them myself, as soon as they get that pesky CAT scan of my brain.

Julie: You know what? I have a little pull in this hospital. Why don’t I see if we can move things along?

Joe: You’d do that for me?

Julie: Well, of course I would. And I’ll check on my husband at the same time. You’ll be fine. You just sit right here, Mr. Doe.

Joe: Uncle Tommy. Korea. Why does that story sound familiar?

Doug: I don’t really need this wheelchair, you know.

Julie: I know, darling. And once we’re out of the hospital, you can dance the Shim Sham all the way to the car. But right now, there’s someone I want you to meet. Mr. Doe. This is my husband, Doug Williams. And this is a gentleman, currently known as Mr. Doe.

Doug: Mr. Doe. Pleased to meet you, sir.

Joe: Likewise.

Julie: Uh, Dr. Johnson said she’s going to send an orderly for you, or escort you to the, uh, tests.

Joe: Oh, thank you so much. You have a lovely and kind wife.

Doug: Oh, no argument there. What about you? Are you married, sir?

Joe: As a matter of fact, now that you mention it, I am. I have a wife.

[ Doug chuckles ]

Steve: Well, Brookville PD has no missing persons reports that match our Mr. Doe.

John: Of course not. It would have been too easy.

Steve: Well, you know what? We can keep checking, uh, nearby towns, huh? If he was walking and it took him a couple of days, I’d give it a radius of, say, 30 miles?

John: Mm hmm. Maybe we can narrow it down even more. If he was a veteran, maybe he was being treated at a VA hospital.

Steve: Well, look at you, Poker Face.

John: Nearest VA hospital. Got it. Hello, this is John Black. I’m a private detective. I got a question for you. I was wondering if you have had any patients that have come up missing in the last couple days or so? I see. And what could you tell me about him?

Marlena: So when you see Susan, she tells you that you’re not being honest about what happened the night that she was killed.

Ava: Yeah, but I don’t know why. I feel like I’ve told the whole story.

Marlena: Well, maybe there’s something deep in your subconscious. Um, you know, we could– we could try hypnosis if you want to see what might be there.

Ava: Let’s give it a shot.

Marlena: Okay. You’ll have to excuse us.

Harris: Oh, yeah, of course. Good luck. You got this.

Ava: Thanks.

Xander: You want me to shoot Ava?

EJ: It’s about justice, Xander. Redemption. I’m giving you the opportunity to make up for what you did to my mother.  Look, I know I’m asking a lot of you. Which is why I’m willing to pay handsomely for it.

Xander: Look, EJ, I’m just… I’m not comfortable with any of this. I-I…

EJ: Do all those zeros alleviate your concerns?

Brady: Look, Theresa, I’m no fan of Xander’s, okay? But I think it’s a little unfair to blame him for our breakup. You weren’t exactly completely honest with me.

Theresa: Okay. Yes, fine. I’ll admit that my lies damaged our relationship.

Brady: Yeah, and then you escalated things by suing for full custody of Tate. Which is why my grandfather turned on you again.

Theresa: Sure, yeah, Victor could be mercurial, but bottom line is, Brady, he knew you and I were good together, and he was right. We had something special.

Brady: We did, a while ago.

Theresa: Come on, Brady. Come on. After all these years apart, you know, I still think about you. And about us, and about what could have been.

Brady: Theresa, I don’t think that–

[ dramatic music ]

[ dramatic music ]

Brady: No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. God, God, what are– what are we doing? This is a bad idea. It’s not a good idea, it’s a bad idea.

Theresa: Brady… Brady, I’m single. From what I hear, you’re not with Chloe anymore, or Kristenha tnk God, and… Is there someone else?

Brady: No.

Theresa: Well, then I think maybe it’s the perfect time for us to give our relationship another shot. What do you say?

Doug: [ Chuckles ] You, you forgot that you had a wife?

Joe: Yeah I… No wedding ring. Can’t remember her name. But I can– I can picture her face.

Julie: Mr. Doe is currently suffering from memory loss.

Doug: I see. Uh, for a while there I had trouble remembering things myself. Turns out that I had been possessed by the devil.

Joe: [ Laughs ] Haven’t heard that one before.

Julie: Oh my dear, just stick around Salem. You’ll hear a lot of amazing things.

Doug: Do you think your wife is looking for you?

Joe: Ah, I hope so. Because I have a feeling… I- I think I loved her very much.

John: Thanks for agreeing to see us, Mr. Dugan.

Dugan: Of course. I’m so relieved to hear that Mr. Bell is alright.

John: Mm-hm.

Dugan: You said he’s at Salem University Hospital?

Steve: Yeah, that’s right. And from what we understand, he’s in pretty good shape. He’s just confused about who he is.

Dugan: He’s been dealing with memory loss for quite some time.  We suspect it stems from an old head injury he suffered during the war.

John: You said his last name is Bell?

Dugan: Yes, Joseph Bell. We kept trying to remind him, but it never seems to stick.

Steve: You have any idea where he’s originally from? He must have a home somewhere.

Dugan: I’m afraid we’ve been unable to track that down. He was only transferred here a couple months ago. He’s apparently been in the system for decades. But, with his memory the way it is, we don’t know much about him.

John: Nothing to go on in his military files.

Dugan: Every time he’s gone somewhere new, it’s like they start from scratch. His entire life history is locked up somewhere in his brain. We just don’t know how to reach it.

Marlena: Let’s go back to the night that Susan died. Tell me what you remember. Tell me what happened right before the car went off the road.

Ava: I was trying to escape from EJ. But he was right on my tail, so I sped up.

Susan: Oh, no!

Ava: Oh, my God. Here’s a tip, Susan. Don’t startle the person with the gun.

Susan: Well, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, but I- I-I just realized that I lost my lucky hat. We have to go back right now.

Ava: Are you freaking kidding me? Here’s another bit of advice for you. Keep your mouth shut, or you’re going to lose your unlucky head, too.

Ava: Everything was happening so fast. I just couldn’t think straight.  And Charlie was there, and he was… hounding me, he was telling me what I needed to do next. And Susan, Susan, she just… She kept yammering on about that stupid hat of hers.

Marlena: What happened next?

Ava: I told her to shut up.

Ava: Just shut up, okay? Shut up, I am trying to think!

Susan: I didn’t say anything! Geez.  No, I’ll stay shut up, but um, just please, please Miss Vitali, please just keep your eyes on this crippled road. I mean, it would be horrible if we get to an accident. It would be terrible, terrible.

Ava: Damn you, EJ.

Ava: EJ. He just kept, kept getting closer. And I couldn’t shake him. And Charlie– Charlie kept– he kept taunting me. He kept telling me that I– I knew what I needed to do next.

[ grunting] [ screaming ]

In the car, it just– it went flying off the cliff. And I barely got out in time before it hit, but– I don’t know, I– I must have– I must have gotten knocked out because– then everything just… It goes black.

Marlena: But you regained consciousness. What happened then?

Ava: I’m lying on the ground. And I– I– I can see the car. Just– there’s smoke and– and– and flames…. they’re everywhere.  I know it’s gonna explode so I– I force myself to get up and I just– I run away.

Marlena: What about Susan? Susan was there. What happened to her?

[ somber music ]

Xander: [ Exhales ] Forget it. No amount of money’s worth another death on my conscience. After your mother died, I was plagued with horrible nightmares. I still am.

EJ: Yeah, we have that in common, which is why I’m doing this. Because I won’t be able to rest easy until I avenge my mother’s death.

Xander: Look, I feel terrible about what happened to– to Susan, EJ.  I’m so sorry. She didn’t deserve it.

[ tense music ]

EJ: Then do something about it, then, damn it. Because my mother will not be able to rest in peace until Ava pays for what she did. You owe it to my mother to help me.

Xander: I’ve got you all figured out, Junior. You want me to get rid of Ava for you, and then you’re gonna make sure that I take the fall. Two birds, one stone, right?

EJ: If you give me what I want, I’ll have no reason to double-cross you.

Xander: You’ve got plenty of reasons. You might not want to kill me, but you definitely want me to pay.  Get the hell out of here.

EJ: Fine. But as I said before, I’ve let my mother’s death go unavenged for far too long.  It’s time for you and Ava to pay the price.

Harris: So, how did– how’d it go?

Ava: Didn’t remember anything new. [ Chuckles ]

Marlena: I’m going to consult with her doctors here. Maybe talking to the people that she’s used to will help her remember more. I’m sorry I couldn’t do more for you.

Ava: Thanks, Dr. Evans. I really do appreciate your kindness.

Marlena: My pleasure.

Harris: I’ll walk you out.

Brady: Theresa, now, come on. You want to jump back into a relationship with me just like that? Have you forgotten how toxic we were at times? Have you forgotten how much we hurt each other?

Theresa: Yeah, yeah, but the good times outweighed the bad, right? I mean, come on, Brady, don’t you remember that makeshift wedding we had in our bedroom?

Brady: Yeah.

Theresa: It wasn’t official, but it was the most romantic night of my entire life.

Brady: Theresa, I’m gonna– I’m gonna be very clear with you. I don’t want to go back down that road with you. Not now, not ever, okay?

Theresa: Brady.

Brady: Theresa, you should go. Please go.

Theresa: [ Sobs ]

Brady: [ Sighs ]

Joe: Well, obviously you two are very much in love. How long have you been married?

Doug: Over 50 years.

Joe: Oh, that’s impressive these days. Bet you have some great memories.

Julie: Oh, more than you can count. We used to own a club together.

Joe: Oh!

Julie: It was called Doug’s Place.

Joe: Catchy name.

Julie: And my darling husband sang there.

Joe: No kid– You sang? That’s fantastic. I used to sing all the time.

Julie: Oh, were you a professional?

Joe: Oh, no. But I just loved to listen to radio and sing along. You know, I can remember some of the classics, like Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and…

Julie: Gershwin, Ira Gershwin.

Joe: George Gershwin. George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.

Julie: Yeah. The brothers.

Joe: I remember those two.

Doug: Well, see, if you remember this song. I’m discontented with homes that are rented, so I have invented my own. Darling, this place is a lover’s oasis, where life’s weary chase is unknown.

[ Laughters ]

Joe: I love that song. I used to dance for my wife. Would you mind if I dance with your wife a minute?

Doug: Be my guest.

Julie: Oh, my goodness, I’d be delighted.

Joe: Let’s go.

Doug: All right, let’s all sing together. I’ll do the pickups.

Julie: Okay.

Doug: Oh honey, picture you

All: Upon my knee tea for two, and two for tea, me for you and you for me alone…

Doug: Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

All: Nobody near us, to see us, or hear us. No friends or relations on weekend vacations. We won’t have it known dear, but we own a telephone.

Doug: Two, Three, Four…

Julie: Dear!

All: Day will break, and I’ll awake, and start to bake, a sugar cake, for me to take, for all the boys to see,

Doug: Three, four,

Doug and Julie: Five, six, seven, eight!

All: We will make a family, A boy for you and a girl for me, Oh, can’t you see, how happy we would be?

Doug: Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Yah!

[ Laughter ]

Doug: Yes, we did it. We did it.

John: Well, I’m just assuming here that, uh, Mr. Bell doesn’t have any family that you know about that you can contact.

Dugan: None on record.

Steve: You know, John’s wife said he talked about trying to find his son. You know anything about that?

Dugan: He’s brought it up often. But he was pretty fuzzy with the details. We weren’t even sure if it was based in reality.

John: Yeah, yeah, well, I can understand that. So, anything else you can tell us?

Dugan: Obviously, I can’t share his medical history with you. But this folder contains information about his service that’s publicly available. His only belongings are his dog tags. Feel free to look them over. I just need to run down the hall for a minute.  Be right back.

John: Thanks again, Mr. Dugan.  Well, our Mr. Bell did serve in the Korean War. It also looks…My God, I don’t believe this.

Julie: [ Claps ] Gentlemen, thank you. Thank you for the song and the dance, and I can’t remember when I’ve had so much fun.

Joe: Same here. Although I can’t remember much. You have a lovely voice, Doug, and your wife, she can cut a rug.

Julie: Oh, boy.

Doug: As can you, Mr. Doe. That was very entertaining.

Julie: Well, fellas, I’m sure we could sing and dance the day and night away, but I really do have to get my husband home.

Joe: Of course. Look, I really enjoyed meeting you both.

Doug: Well, thank you. Same here. And I hope you find out eventually what your real name is.

Joe: Thank you, Doug.

Julie: And I hope you find your son.

Joe: Oh, thank you. You know, for some reason I feel like I’m gonna get some answers pretty soon.

Steve: What is it, John?

John: Joseph Bell. He served in the same unit as my biological father.

Steve: Are you sure?

John: Oh, hell, yeah. After we ran it with Timothy Robichiuax, AKA Yo Ling, I gathered as much information on my dad as I could, and this is definitely the same unit.

Steve: Well, now, there’s a coincidence. That must mean they knew each other, right?

John: Well, I guess we’re about to find out.

Brady: Theresa’s out of her mind. We’re not right for each other. Never have been.

Brady: Theresa. No. Do you take me to be your unlawfully wedded husband?

Theresa: [ Chuckles ]

Brady: I’m never gonna let you go.

Theresa: Yeah? Well you damn well better not. Because I plan on holding on to you until death do us part.

Brady: [ Sighs ]

[ Theresa cries]

Xander: Theresa.

[ Suspenseful music ]

[ Phone beeps ]

EJ: It’s me. I have a job for you. I want you to kill Ava Vitale.

Harris: [ Sighs ] Uh, I’m sorry, that was a bust.

Ava: It wasn’t a bust. I lied to Marlena.

Harris: Wh– what– what are you talking about?

Ava: I remember everything now. Susan Banks is alive.

Adam: Single malt. Neat.

[ Billy chuckles ]

Billy: Hmm. It’s funny, actually. For the first time in a very long time, maybe actually ever, I can see the world through your eyes. And it ain’t pretty.

************************

Ashley: Okay, okay, okay. Listen, I will back off. I will give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

Jack: Still choking on those words, are you?

Ashley: Like a grape.

Jack: It doesn’t have to be all warm and fuzzy. We haven’t always agreed with each other’s choice of partners.

Ashley: Oh, really? Phyllis.

Jack: Yeah. And vVctor.

Ashley: Right. Whatever.

Jack: Look, we can be kind and tolerant.

Ashley: To a point. And that point, you’re not gonna like it, but it’s gonna hinge on Diane. It has to. I mean, if she behaves herself and– and she turns out to be everything that you’ve said she is all along, then I will not just lay down my sword, I will bury the damn thing.

Jack: I will help you buy the shovel,

Ashley: Okay, but… if she takes one misstep, I’m telling you right now, and if all my fears about her come true, I will be back with a vengeance, Jack, and I will be holding that sword so high.

Sharon: Did victor give you any idea why he wanted us here today?

Nick: Nope, but I’m sure the subject of Newman Media will come up, but beyond that, I have no idea.

Sharon: Well, I’ve given a lot of thought to that since we talked about it.

Adam: Would you care to share, Sharon? Oh, that’s right.

Sharon: Very funny, Adam.

Adam: Well, are you implying that I can’t be trusted with sensitive information?

Nick: You seem to be in a pretty good mood for somebody who just got busted for trying to screw over his partners.

Adam: Okay, I never attempted to screw over anybody.

Nick: Yeah, what would you call it?

Adam: Business. I made a play, it didn’t work, so on to the next.

Sharon: If there is a next.

Nick: If we’re still a part of any of this.

Adam: Well, I’m guessing some of us will be. Probably the ones who know how to run a media company. I think that’ll narrow the field a little bit.

Sharon: Wow, you never give up, do you?

Adam: Not when I am right.

Nick: And in your mind, that’s always.

***************************

Victor: Yes, indeed it does. Uh, Nate Hastings will no longer be involved with Newman Enterprises. And your mother will become the new Director of Research and Development for Newman Media. And Victoria will become my COO.

Nick: [ Scoffs ] Your COO?

Victor: Yes. Taking back the reigns of my company. I own the damn thing. My name on it.

Nick: Adam has done nothing but bring pain to all of our lives. He thrives on deception and blackmail. Help me understand this.

Victor: He’s my son. He has earned it.

Nick: What does that make me?

Victor: You’re just not as capable, son. That’s all. Proud of you, my boy. Very proud of you.

Adam: Thanks, pops.

Victor: Yup.

Sharon: Hey.

Adam: Wow. That bad, huh?

Sharon: Can you blame me?

Adam: No. Honestly, I’m not surprised. I would think you and Nick are pretty pissed at me, since I openly pushed to run Newman Media when our companies merged together.

Sharon: I wish I could say that I didn’t see this coming, but it makes sense that you would try to grab hold of power.

Adam: So, what now? Are you sitting here, plotting how best to get revenge on me? To teach me a lesson?

Sharon: Because that’s how I am.

Adam: No. No, you’re not. I– that wasn’t fair. I– but, I understand, if you’re upset with me.

Sharon: Not everything is about you, Adam. After everything that’s happened, I’m thinking in much bigger terms now. I’ve made a decision. It’s one that will affect the entire operation.

***********************

Adam: Okay. What if I say, “please?”

Sharon: I’d like to call a meeting with the three of us and Victor after I have a chance to speak to Nikolas again.

Adam: So, this is something that nick gets a vote on and I don’t? Sharon, I gotta say, I don’t love being left out of these discussions.

[ Sharon laughing ] What?

Sharon: You are joking, right? You tried to seize power in a company that we’re supposed to be building together, and now you’re worried about being left out of the loop.

Adam: Okay. I’m sorry that you’re looking at my request as an attempt at a coup. To me, it– it was just logical

Victor: Son, it’s your methods that I criticize.

Adam: Okay, well, I apologize for my bad manners for going after something that I want. And by the way, dad, something that I deserve.

Victor: That’s up to debate.

Adam: Meaning what?

Victor: Why the hell would we now upset the dynamics that we had set in place? There’s no reason.

Adam: Of course, you would think that.

*************”

Sally: Mm. So do you. Okay. There is something that I have been meaning to talk to you about, but now, it feels kinda wrong or maybe awkward given the circumstance.

Nick: What circumstances?

Sally: Well, you, me just now.

Nick: Really? You could ask me for like, anything right now. You know what I’m saying?

Sally: Okay, that does not make it any easier.

Nick: Just kidding. All right. What is it? What can I do?

[ Sally sighing ]

Sally: Is your offer to fund a business for me still on the table?

Nick: Yes, of course. Always.

Sally: Okay, ’cause i don’t want it to interfere with our relationship. That has always been my biggest fear.

Nick: What?

Sally: Look. Okay. I– I will give you a business plan, a profit and loss margin, and–

Nick: Sally. Sally. You don’t have to do this. Seriously, you don’t have to pitch me. Whatever it is you set out to do, I have complete trust and faith in you.

Sally: Thank you.

Nick: Of course. Was that so hard?

Sally: You have no idea.

Billy: That was nice, that little work session on the patio. Exactly what the doctor ordered.

Jack: Gotta enjoy these last days of summer.

Billy: It’s a nice change of pace instead of rushing off to the office. I gotta say it’s quiet around here for a change.

Jack: Yeah, Mrs. Martinez took Harrison to the farmer’s market, I think. Everybody else is at work.

Billy: I guess I’m struck by the, uh, the lack of snarky comments and open hostility.

Jack: You’re referring, of course, to our sister and her new husband.

Billy: I wonder if this lack of communication is a good thing or if it’s, you know, pending doom. I mean, what’s the over/under that they’re really moving on from this anti-Diane world domination plan?

Jack: I have no idea what the odds are, but I’m not about to bet on anything right no–

Tucker: Hey, guys. You miss me?

Billy: Oh, yes, tucker, we’ve been pining over you. It’s been torture.

Jack: What brings you by, tucker? I seem to remember asking you to return your house key.

Tucker: Oh, yeah, you’re gonna get that. I just came by for some personal items. And I believe Ashley made arrangements to have the rest of our stuff moved out in the next week or so. And we’ll be outta your hair.

Jack: Now why do I have a hard time believing that?

****************************

Diane: Ashley, your future affects jack’s future. So, what the two of you were talking about is very much my business. I want abbott family harmony as much as anybody.

Ashley: Of course you do.

Diane: You know what, if you don’t believe me, I really don’t care. I’ve had to resign myself to the fact that there are certain members of the family who will never accept me as an Abbott.

[ Ashley sighs ] It’s disappointing and I know that it breaks Jack’s heart.

Ashley: Yeah, well, you know, still, your words mean nothing to me. Sorry, they just don’t. They are as sincere today as they were a week ago or a year ago or whenever it was we first met all those decades ago. You even died but you came back. So, see, some things never change. You certainly have not.

Days Update Friday, September 1, 2023

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Steve meets Abe in the town square and asks how his date with Paulina went. Abe calls it a disaster.

Paulina goes to see Rafe at Jada’s apartment and tells him to stop dragging his feet and accept her job offer. Paulina declares that she wants him as her police commissioner and she’s not leaving until he signs on the dotted line.

At the Brady Pub, Belle encourages Brady that she thinks it’s for the best. Brady remarks that Philip is just lucky the police department was in between police commissioners, otherwise Philip would be in jail after he left the note for Shawn. Brady apologizes as he knows she has compassion for Philip. Belle says she just knows he wasn’t in his right mind and needed help, so she is compassionate for that because of what’s going on with Shawn. Belle mentions not hearing from Shawn since Marlena put him on 24 hour hold and calls it the longest 24 hours of her life.

Shawn meets with Marlena in her office at the hospital. Marlena asks how he’s feeling. Shawn responds that he’s grateful that Marlena put him on the 24 hour hold but when he thinks about yesterday, it’s like he was a completely different person and he’s kind of embarrassed. Marlena understands he was in pain and says he did the right thing by asking for help. Shawn knows staying here last night was good for him, but he’d like to go home now.

Jada finds Kayla at the hospital and asks if she has a minute because an officer found an elderly man wandering on the side of the road. Jada notes that he seemed slightly confused and had some bumps and bruises, so she asks Kayla to take a look at him. The officer wheels the man in. Kayla greets him and asks for his name. He responds that he hoped she would tell him.

Shawn knows one night in the hospital didn’t cure him and he realizes quitting therapy was a big mistake. Shawn wants to get started again and promises to stick with it this time. Shawn thinks he will get better faster by being at home with Belle. Marlena knows Belle would like that too and says there’s no reason not to lift the hold. Shawn thanks her. Marlena says she will get the paper work started. Marlena asks Shawn to promise to get help if he starts feeling the way he did again.

Rafe tells Paulina that unless the city council amends it’s policy on supervisors dating subordinates, he’s not going back. Paulina assures that she filed an appeal first thing this morning, asking them to change the rules so that each relationship can be evaluated on a case by case basis, but they have to vote on it. Rafe argues that he knows how these things work and they can take weeks or months, so until then, he’s not going back to the job. Paulina suggests he could just stop seeing Jada.

Kayla questions the man at the hospital not knowing who he is. He explains that the officers told him that he was John Doe but he doesn’t remember his name and he doesn’t have an ID. Kayla says they need to take a look at him and make sure he’s alright. Kayla asks if it’s okay to admit him as John Doe to get things rolling. He jokes that he’s been called worse in the past but he can’t remember those either. He asks for the officer to keep him company but she says she has to get back to work. She tells him that it was nice meeting him. He thanks them for their help. Kayla then takes him to a hospital room.

Belle tells Brady that she has to get to the hospital. Brady tells her to keep him posted. John arrives and asks how Belle is holding up. Belle says as well as can be expected. John offers to buy them lunch but Belle says she was on her way to see Shawn. John assures that he has their support as Belle exits.

Shawn finds Jada at the hospital and says he’s glad he ran in to her, bringing up that Paulina relieved him of his duties as police commissioner and that she wanted to reinstate Rafe. Jada confirms that Paulina came by yesterday to ask Rafe to come back. Shawn says that’s great and that Rafe didn’t deserve what happened to him. Jada says she’ll tell him he said that. Shawn also wanted to ask Jada how she feels about being partners again since he knows things have been awkward between them and that he screwed up pretty badly. Jada assures that it would be great to work with him again. Shawn says that’s awesome and he can’t tell her how much that means to him. Shawn hopes Rafe feels the same way. Jada thinks he does but notes that Rafe hasn’t accepted the job yet and is seriously thinking about turning it down.

Rafe tells Paulina that they have already established that even if the city council change the decision, it could take a long time and he doesn’t want to be separated from Jada for even a day. Paulina sees in his eyes that she’s not going to change his mind which he confirms. Paulina understands since she’s been separated from Abe for months and it’s been killing her. Rafe asks if Abe has made any progress on getting his memory back. Paulina says no, though he did take her on a date. Rafe asks how it went. Paulina guesses that last night was the swan song to their marriage.

Steve encourages Abe that the date couldn’t have been that bad. Abe guesses it was okay at first, but then he asked Paulina to tell him how they met and she told him that she was planning to bulldoze the town square and to destroy his reputation to pull it off. Steve guesses that wasn’t her finest hour but points out that they got past it. Abe argues that lying seems to be Paulina’s modus operandi and he’s sick of being lied to. Abe declares that he’d much rather be alone than be lied to again.

Kayla checks on the man in the hospital and notes that he’s dehydrated so they are going to get him fluids. Kayla starts asking questions by asking what year it is. He confirms it’s 2023 and the year of the rabbit. Kayla asks if he knows who the President is but he says he tries to stay out of politics. Kayla asks how old he is. He jokes that he must be pretty old. He asks Kayla what the verdict is. Kayla thinks he did pretty well and decides that she will let him rest, then she will come back to reassess. He tells Kayla that he has to get out of here as soon as he can, because he’s on a very important mission.

Steve tells Abe that Paulina made some mistakes but she eventually owned up to them and she isn’t lying anymore. Abe questions why he would want to fall in love all over again with a woman like that. Steve suggests that the dude who fell in love with Paulina before wasn’t self righteous.

Rafe tells Paulina that he’s sorry things didn’t go well with Abe and asks if there’s anything he can do to help besides breaking up with Jada to accept the commissioner job. Paulina suggests Rafe could help her figure out who to hire because she needs someone as police commissioner ASAP. Jada then comes home, so Rafe asks what about her?

Belle goes to the hospital and finds Shawn, who says he was just texting her. Shawn informs her that Marlena is letting him go home and he’s just waiting on the paper work to go through. Belle asks if that means he’s feeling better. Shawn confirms he’s starting to feel like his old self. Belle says she is so glad because he really scared her last night. Shawn apologizes and promises it won’t happen again. Belle says she only cares that he’s okay and no matter how hard things get, he can always count on her and her whole family. Belle adds that John said to tell him that everyone loves him and is there for him as she hugs Shawn.

John tells Brady that he guesses he’s glad Philip is alive but complains about all that Philip put Brady through. John asks if Brady is sure he doesn’t want to press charges. Brady admits a big part of him does but Chloe and Belle are right that it’s not what Victor would’ve wanted and part of him is going to honor that man’s memory somehow. John gets that. Brady admits that he misses Victor and that it wasn’t easy being his grandson, but he knows Victor loved him and he loved Victor too. John states that Victor had a big heart and that they looked after each other after Brady’s mother died and even became friends. Brady brings up that they were once mortal enemies. John talks about Victor bringing him to Salem to be a pawn in his scheme but back then he was so messed up, suffering from memory loss, and didn’t even know who he was.

Kayla returns to John Doe’s hospital room with Marlena. He jokes about all the beautiful women around. Kayla then exits the room. He identifies that Marlena is a shrink which she confirms. He tells her that he’s not crazy. Marlena says they don’t think he is but she was wondering if she could spark his memory a bit. Marlena brings up Kayla saying he was found on the side of the road and asks if he knows how he got there. He said he was walking for a couple of days. Marlena calls that a long time. He jokes that it would be better if he had a car. Marlena asks if he recalls what his destination was. He tells her it was Salem. Marlena asks if he remembers why he came. He reveals that he came to Salem to find his son. Marlena questions his son living here in Salem. He says he’s been looking for him for years and a couple nights ago, he had a dream that he was nearby, so he started walking. Marlena asks what his son’s name is but he says he doesn’t know as he’s never met him, but thanks to his dream, he’s sure that he is right in this area. Marlena questions how he will know when he finds him then. He calls that a good question and asks if she thinks he’s crazy. Marlena understands there’s a very strong bond between parents and their children. He says his son need him and he needs him. He talks about wishing he was there for him growing up and recalls a lot of fighting at home. Marlena asks what he remembers about home. He remembers a farm. Marlena suggests he could be from Brookville but he says that doesn’t ring a bell nor does being a farmer. He declares that all he knows is that he has to find his son if it’s the last thing he ever does.

John asks how Brady is holding up since it’s been a rough couple months losing Victor and losing custody of Rachel. Brady adds Chloe being engaged to Xander and admits it’s been no walk on the beach but he’s hanging in there. John asks if there’s any chance he could talk Chloe out of marrying Xander. Brady admits he tried but thinks it’s a lost cause so it’s just something he will have to suck up, deal with, and move on from as he needs to focus on getting Rachel back anyway. John encourages Brady not to give up on love completely. Brady says maybe it’s just not in the cards for him. John disagrees and argues that he never knows what tomorrow is going to bring. John is sure that there’s a woman out there for him eventually.

Shawn tells Belle that maybe he should go to an AA meeting with Brady like she wanted. Shawn doesn’t think he’s an alcoholic but acknowledges that he’s been drinking too much and that needs to stop. Belle thinks Brady would be more than happy to go to a meeting with him as long as it’s his idea. Shawn asks even after he called Brady’s life a hot mess. Belle doesn’t think Brady will hold it against him. Shawn feels he still owes him an apology. Shawn mentions that he ran in to Jada earlier and they cleared the air which Belle is glad to hear. Shawn adds that Jada said she was fine being partners again, so if the new commissioner doesn’t have a problem with it then that means he can go back to work. Belle doesn’t think that’s a very good idea.

Jada asks what’s going on as Rafe explains that Paulina needs a new police commissioner and since they haven’t changed the policy on dating, he was recommending Jada. Rafe reminds Jada that they agreed she would be the perfect choice when Rawlings appointed Shawn. Rafe praises Jada to Paulina and adds that she’s respected by everyone. Paulina acknowledges that he makes a strong case and she’s all for supporting fellow women of color. Rafe assures that she won’t find anyone better than Jada and he can’t think of any reason not to hire her immediately, but Jada says she can think of one. Jada points out that Rafe would be prevented from coming back to the force and she’s not going to let him throw away his career because of her. Rafe argues that he won’t allow her to pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity. Jada thanks Rafe but says she’s going to have to decline. Paulina then gets a text and announces that the city council has agreed to amend the policy so there is nothing to stop Rafe from returning. Rafe asks what about Jada. Jada points out that now that the policy is changed, he can come back. Rafe and Jada go back and forth until Paulina announces that she has already made her decision.

Abe questions Steve thinking he’s self righteous. Steve apologizes and is just frustrated because Abe doesn’t remember how happy he was with Paulina. Abe admits that he’s scared and that Paulina gets to him. Abe states that he doesn’t even remember her, but she gets to him, so he’s scared. Steve understands love is scary and out of control. Steve knows Abe’s instincts tell him to run. Steve apologizes and says he’s really tired so he just popped off. Abe acknowledges that he told the truth.

Shawn questions Belle not thinking he should go back to work. Belle says not right now when he’s been going through so much, so she thinks he should take time off and not jump back in to such a high pressured job. Shawn swears he can handle it and that if things get to be too much, he’ll stop. Shawn adds that he’ll be seeing Marlena twice a week, so he really thinks he’ll be fine. Belle then agrees if that’s what he wants. Shawn thanks her and they hug.

John Doe tells Marlena that his gut tells him he’s closer to finding his son than ever before, but he can’t find him while stuck in a hospital bed. Marlena says nobody will keep him from finding his son, but she thinks it’d be best for him to rest here and get his strength back up. Marlena adds that she will try to put the pieces of his life back together and hopefully help find his son. Marlena brings up that her husband John is a private investigator and she’s sure he would be happy to take his case. He agrees that he needs all the help he can get. Marlena says they all do. He talks about everyone being so nice so maybe it was meant to be that he was brought here to Marlena. He declares that this could be the beginning of a real friendship. Marlena says she thinks he may be right.

Rafe returns to his office with Jada and places his police commissioner name plate back on the desk. Jada praises Paulina’s decision and tells Rafe that he belongs in that chair. Rafe says he doesn’t know about that but he’s happy to be back. Jada brings up all the nice things he said about her which Rafe says were all true. Jada says she really appreciated it and it meant a lot to her. Jada brings up Rafe telling her the other day that he was falling in love with her. Jada wants Rafe to know that she feels the same way as she’s falling in love with him too. Rafe and Jada then kiss.

Belle gets a text that Paulina put out a press release about Rafe being reinstated as police commissioner. Shawn says that’s great and if he can just get out of here, he can get back to her, his job and his life. Belle says she will go check on the paper work to see what’s taking so long. Belle adds that after that, he is coming home and taking the rest of the day off. Shawn says he won’t argue. Belle suggests she can make them lunch and they can binge watch a new murder mystery on Peacock. Belle thinks after that, they should get back in to a normal routine. Shawn says that sounds great as Belle walks away.

Abe stands at the Tom and Alice plaque and says he’s so glad their town square wasn’t torn down as they seem like very nice people. Paulina approaches and guesses he means unlike her. Paulina says she didn’t bother him as she knows he doesn’t want anything to do with her. Abe says that’s not true. Abe asks Paulina what she says to starting over again. Paulina responds that she likes that.

Steve joins John at the Pub. John hopes Abe and Paulina find their way back to each other because they deserve it. John and Steve toast to taking the rest of the day off and celebrating. Marlena enters and asks about them celebrating. Steve announces that they just wrapped their latest case. Marlena calls that wonderful because she has a new case for them that she thinks they will find very interesting.

Kayla informs John Doe that his CT scan is almost ready so someone will escort him to it. Kayla asks how things went with Marlena. He calls her an angel and says that her husband is going to help him find his son. Kayla mentions her husband being his partner and declares that if anyone can find his son, they can.

Brady is at home with a photo of Rachel when he is surprised by his ex Theresa Donovan showing up at the door. Theresa greets him and says it’s been awhile.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Sorry I’m late, man. John and I had an all nighter. So, how’d your date with Paulina go? Ah, well, in a word, it was a disaster.

Higher price. Something I can do for you? Yes. You can stop dragging your feet and accept my job offer. Oh, do come in. I want you as my police commissioner and I’m not leaving here until you sign on the dotted line.

I think it’s for the best, Brady. All I can say is Philip is damn lucky that the Salem PD were in between police commissioners when I left that note. Otherwise his ass would be in jail exactly where it belongs, Belle. Sorry, I know that you have compassion for him. Listen, I just know that he, he wasn’t in his right mind.

He needed help. And yes, I am compassionate to that, considering everything that’s going on with Sean. Have you heard from him? No, not since mom put him on that 24 hour hold. It’s been the longest 24 hours of my life.

Sean, how are you feeling today? I’m, I’m grateful actually, that you put me on that hold. I’d like to put you on a 24 hour hold so we can assess you and figure out the next step. I would feel a lot better if you would agree to that. Whatever you think is best. Doesn’t have to happen right this minute. We could, we could talk for a while.

I said, look at me. We’re in this together. We’ll get through it together.

I’m, I’m sorry I let you down. You did not let me down. I’m so proud of you that you came here and you asked for help. Okay. We’re gonna be okay. Everything is gonna be okay, but when I, I think about yesterday, it’s, it’s like I was a completely different person. And to be honest with you, I’m, I’m kind of embarrassed.

There’s no need to be. You were in pain. You did the right thing. You, you asked for help. And I got it. Marlena, I know, I know that me staying here last night, that was a good thing for me. But, um, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to go home. Now. Kayla,

Oh, sure, sure. What do you need? One of our officers was patrolling the outskirts of town, and they found an elderly man wandering alongside the road. Hi. He seems really sweet, but he’s also a little confused, and he has some scrapes and bruises. Would you take a look at him? Oh, absolutely, no problem. Thanks.

Hello, sir. Hi, I’m Dr. Johnson. Can you tell me your name? I was hoping you’d tell me.

Sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Look, I know that one night in the hospital didn’t, I mean, didn’t cure me. And, um, and I realized that quitting therapy, that was… That was a big mistake. And like I said last night, I, I want to get started again. And this time, I want to, I’m going to stick with it. Promise. But I just think that, you know, if I’m going to get better faster, I think that I’d be better off being at home.

You know, with Belle. Yeah.

I know Belle would like that too. And judging by your session with Dr. Patel, I’d say there’s No reason not to lift the hold. Thank you. I will get the paperwork started. Sean, if you begin feeling the way that you did yesterday again, promise me you’ll get help. Promise me.

Boy, you could be sitting there for quite a while. Because unless the City Council amends its policy on supervisors dating subordinates, I’m not going back. I filed an appeal first thing this morning. I asked them to change the rules so that each reported relationship can be evaluated on a case by case basis.

And? They’re going to vote on it. When? They didn’t say. Of course they didn’t. You see, I know how this works. These decisions, they could take weeks, even months. And until then, I am not going back to that job. Or, maybe you could just stop seeing Jada.

So, you don’t know who you are? This, uh, attractive young officer here, I’m sorry, is it okay if I call you Mr. Fairfax? Well, just this once. This attractive young officer here and this other attra… Oh. It’s okay, but one more attractive and we may need to write you up. Well, I like to keep up with the times.

Okay, how about this, uh, this, uh, efficient officer here and this other efficient officer there told me that was John Doe. Um, I don’t think that’s really my name. You don’t, huh? Um, any ID? No? Um, well listen, how about this? Uh, sir, uh, uh, we need to take a look at you and make sure that you’re alright. So, would it be okay with you if we just admit you as John Doe and that way we can just get things rolling?

John Doe doesn’t have a lot of pizzazz to it. Although, I’ve been called a lot more than that in the past. It’s funny, I can’t remember those names either. Well listen, why don’t we get you settled in a room, okay? Can Officer Silver come with me? Oh, why do you, why do you say that? Well, look at her. Wouldn’t you like to have her for company?

Well, that’s very kind of you, but I do need to get back to work. Oh, too bad. It was a real pleasure meeting you, and I wish you all the best. Always the same as you, honey. Uh, maybe we’ll see each other sometime? You never know. Well, man can dream, can’t he? You take care of yourself, okay? And the same to you.

Look, thank you both. You’ve both been very efficient. It was our pleasure. Ah, she doth teach the torches to burn bright. Oh, you can add a broken heart to my ailments right now. Ah, duly noted. Well, apparently we don’t need to worry about your eyesight, huh? For my taste.

Alright, it is time for me to get to the hospital. Hey, keep me posted, okay? Yes, I will. Oh, hey, Dad. Hey, yourself. How you holding up, sweetie? Uh, as well as could be expected. Right, right. Hey, I got my kids here. Can I buy you lunch? Oh, I was actually going to see Sean. Right, right. Well, just let him know that he has our full love and support.

Just like you do, and don’t you ever freak him out. Oh, okay. Thank you. Alright. Love you, Tink. Love you. Gina, hey. Sean, hey. I’m, uh, I’m glad I ran into you. You, uh, you heard that Pauline will leave me and my doo doos as commissioner, right? Yeah, she said she wants to reinstate Rafe. Yeah, she came by yesterday to ask him to come back.

That’s great. And, listen, I want you to know that I, I think that she’s making the right decision. What happened to Rafe, uh, he doesn’t deserve it. I’ll tell him you said that. Also, I, I wanted to ask you how you feel about, uh, being partners with me again. Look, I know that, I know that things have been awkward between us for a while, and, uh, I know that I screwed up pretty badly, but I just Sean.

It would be great to work with you again. That’s awesome. I, I can’t tell you how much that means to me. I just, I hope that Ray feels the same way. I think he does. He hasn’t accepted the job yet. In fact, he’s seriously thinking about turning it down.

Mayor Price. Paulina, please. Paulina. Look, we’ve already established that even if the City Council admits that they were wrong and wants to change the decision, it could take a long time. I don’t want to be separated from Jada for months, a week, or even a day.

Ah, I can see it in your eyes. I’m not going to change your mind. You’re not. I suppose I can understand. I’ve been separated from Abraham for months and it’s been killing me. Yeah, I know. How’s that going? Has he made any progress on getting his memory back? No. Although he, he did take me on a date. Really?

Wanna go? My guess is that last night, was a swan song to our marriage.

Come on, man. Date couldn’t have been that bad. It was okay, at first, I guess. Then, uh, Then what? I asked her to tell me how we had met. And she told me that she was planning to bulldoze this entire square. And to destroy my reputation in order to pull it off. Oh. Well, I guess that wasn’t her finest hour. But you two got past it, didn’t you?

Oh, and I remember that, don’t I? Look, lying seems to be her modus operandi. And after the last few months, I’m just sick of being lied to. I’ve had it up to here. I would much rather be alone than to be lied to again.

Well, you’re pretty dehydrated, so we’re going to give you something that’ll perk you up. Oh, uh, intravenous single malt, maybe? Uh, more like a vintage Ringer’s Lactate, uh, you know, pairs well with Jell O. Okay, listen, I’m going to ask you a few questions, all right? And listen, don’t worry about it, if you don’t get them right or you don’t remember, it’s no big deal.

Not to you. Touche. Okay, uh, let’s start with, um, do you know what year it is? Uh, 2023, Year of the Rabbit. Oh, you show off. Um, how about, do you know who the current President of the United States is? You know, I try to stay out of politics. Oh, fair enough. Okay. How about, um, Do you know how old you are? Well, you know, from the looks of it, I’m pretty old.

If I’d have known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. I’m charming, though, right? Yes, yes, I would agree with that. So, Doc, what’s the verdict? Have I got all my marbles? I think you did pretty well, actually. But I’m going to go away, let you rest for a bit, and I’ll come back and we’ll reassess.

Okay, but just so you know, I have got to get out of here as soon as I possibly can. Really? Yeah. Why is that? Well, you may not know it, but look at me. I’m on a very important mission.

Okay. I know Paulina made some mistakes, but she eventually owned up to them, right? I mean, she’s not lying anymore, is she? Why would I want to fall in love again all over with a woman like that?

Sigh. Oi, what? Maybe, because the dude who fell in love with Paulina before wasn’t a self righteous prick.

Sorry, things didn’t go well with Aiden. Is there anything I can do to help? You could reconsider my job offer. Besides breaking up with Jada and taking the Commissioner’s job. Sigh. If you’re so dead set on turning me down, maybe you can help me figure out who to hire. I need someone in place ASAP.

What about her?

Sean. Oh, oh, hey, Val. I was just texting you. Oh. Your mom, uh, she lifted the hold. I’m just waiting for the paperwork to come through. Does that mean you’re feeling better? Yeah, yeah. I feel, I feel like I’m, you know, getting back to my old self. Good. I’m so glad. You really scared me last night. Look, I know. I know I did, and I’m sorry about that.

It’s not gonna happen again, I promise you. care about is that you’re okay. Yeah, well, I, uh, I am now. Good. And you know no matter how hard things get, you can always, always count on me. And that goes for my whole family. I actually just saw my dad and he said to tell you that everyone loves you. And that we’re all here for you.

Hey.

Okay, I guess I’m glad that Phillip’s alive. But you know what I’d like to do is go over there and wring his little curiocus neck. Come on, Sonny, I put you through all of that, and now it’s like, Oops! Oh, my bad! Sorry, my bad! Hey, I know, I know. Okay, so you sure you don’t want to press charges? Part of me does.

Big part of me does, dad, but honestly, Chloe and Belle are right. It’s not what grandfather would have wanted. And there’s a part of me that…

I want to honor that man’s memory somehow. Yeah. Yeah, I get that. Kinda. I don’t know, dad. I miss him. It wasn’t easy being his grandson, I’ll tell you that, but I, I know he loved me. Dammit, I loved him. Too. The man had a big heart. I’m saying that because after your mother died, we, um, we kind of looked out for each other.

Actually became friends. Which is pretty crazy considering you two were once mortal enemies, right? That’s a fact. From the moment he brought me from that hospital in Miami up here to Salem to be the pawn in his game. But you know what, back then I was so messed up. And I was suffering from memory loss and I didn’t even know who the hell I was.

Mr. Doe? Um, I’m going to go set up your CT scan, but in the meantime, I brought my good friend and colleague, Dr. Evans, to chat it up with you. Is this a hospital or a modeling agency? One beautiful woman after another. You are incorrigible. But charming. Well, that’s true. All right. I’ll see you later. Well, Doctor.

I’m not new to the rodeo here. You’re shrink, I guess. Yes. I am a psychiatrist. Oh. Well, uh, no offense, but I’m, I’m not crazy. I’m not even a little bit neurotic. Well, we don’t think that you are. I was wondering, uh, if I could maybe spark your memory a bit. Would that be helpful to you? Oh, completely. Have at it.

Okay. Dr. Johnson tells me that, uh, you were found on the side of the road. Do you know how you got there? Walking. Yeah. And apparently your shoes were rather worn out. Yeah. Do you know how long you were walking? Um, a couple of days. Wow. That’s a long time. I’d have been better if I’d had a flying car or even a regular car.

Yeah. But given your determination to get here, do you recall what your destination was? Here. Salem. Oh. And do you recall why you were coming here? To find someone very important to me. My son.

So, your son lives here in Salem. I don’t know. I’ve been looking for him for a long time. Years, actually. Then a couple of nights ago, I had this dream that he was nearby. And I put on my sturdiest walking shoes and I started walking. What’s your son’s name? I don’t know. I never knew him. Never met him. But thanks to this dream, I’m sure he’s right in this area.

Well, if you don’t know his name, and you’ve never met him, how will you know when you find him? Pretty good question, but some I… I’m feeling it in my heart. You think I am crazy? No, I think it’s normal. It’s a very strong bond between parents and children. And that’s why I have to find him. My son needs me.

I need him. You know, I wish I could have been there when he was growing up. There was so much fighting going on. And I had to get home. I remember, yeah, I had to get home. And what do you remember about home? I remember a farm. Well, maybe, maybe, maybe you’re from Brookville. There’s a lot of farmland there.

It doesn’t ring a bell. Do you think you were a farmer? No, it doesn’t ring a bell either. For all I know, I could have been a chimney sweep or a street artist or something like that. But all I know is I’ve got to find my son. It’s the last thing I ever do.

So how you holding up, kid? It’s been a rough couple of months here. Victor and losing custody of Rachel. And then, uh, Chloe being engaged to Xander. Yeah, it’s been, uh, It’s been a walk on the beach, Dad, but I’m hanging in there, you know. There’s not any chance that you can talk Chloe out of marrying that son of a bitch.

I’ve tried. I think it’s a lost cause. I think it’s just something that I’m gonna have to suck up and deal with and move on from, and… I need to focus on getting Rachel back anyway. Yeah, that’s, uh, that’s great, that’s important, that’s, uh… Just don’t give up on love completely, kid. I don’t know, Dad, I mean…

Maybe it’s just something that’s not in the cards for me. Ah, come on, that’s a bunch of bull. I don’t know. You never know what tomorrow’s gonna bring. And I know that there is a woman for you out there. Somewhere. Eventually, I’m sure of it.

I was thinking that, uh, maybe I should go to a meeting with Brady, like you said. I, I don’t, I don’t think that I’m an alcoholic, but I do know that I’ve been drinking too much. And that needs to stop. Well, I think Brady would be more than happy to go to a meeting with you. As long as it’s your idea. Even after how I spoke to him yesterday?

Saying that his life was a hot mess? Well, I don’t think Brady’s gonna hold that against you. He knows you were in an… Great shape at the time. Yeah, well, great shape or not, I, I owe him an apology. Uh, which reminds me, I, uh, I ran into Jada earlier, and we cleared the air. Good, good, I’m glad to hear that. Yeah, I asked her how she felt about being partners with me again, and she said she was fine.

So, if the, uh, new commissioner, who may or may not be Rafe, doesn’t have a problem with it, then that means I’m gonna be able to go back to work. What? Sean, I don’t think that’s a very good idea.

So, uh… What’s going on here? Well, Mayor Price needs a new police commissioner. And since they haven’t changed the policy on dating, I was recommending you. Me? Well, when Rawlings hired Sean, we agreed that you’d have been the perfect choice. Jada is extremely qualified, not to mention she has the best closed case record on the force.

She is smart, level headed, and an excellent administrator. And not only that, she’s respected by everyone. You make a strong case, and I am all for supporting my fellow women of color. Oh, trust me, you will not find anyone better than Jada. In fact, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t hire her immediately.

I can think of one.

If I become the commissioner, the current dating policy would prevent you from coming back to the force. You would become my subordinate. Well then maybe I wouldn’t come back. No, forget it. I’m not about to let you throw away your career because of me. Well, I’m not about to let you pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Thank you, but I’m Jada. Wait, wait, hang on a second, hang on a second, I just got a text. The city council has agreed to amend the policy. Oh, see now? There’s nothing to stop you from returning as commissioner. Well, what about Jada? This isn’t about me. Yeah, of course it is. How? Now that they changed the policy, you can come back.

Working for you? No. Okay, wait. Just stop right there, the both of you. Now you can argue till you’re blue in the face. It won’t make a damn bit of difference. I’ve already made my decision.

So you think I’m a self righteous freak? No, no, no, no. Dude, I’m really sorry I called you that. I think I’m just frustrated because you don’t remember how happy you were with Paulina. Happier than you’ve been in years.

I’m scared.

So there, I’ve said it. She gets to me. I don’t even remember her. But she gets to me. I’m scared. Of course you are. Cause love is freaking scary, man. By definition, you’re out of control. You can’t figure out how she makes you feel the way you do. So all your instincts tell you to run. And the whole time you’re running, you’re telling yourself you’re just being rational.

Who needs to be happy anyway?

I’m sorry, man. I’m really tired and I… I just popped off and told the truth.

You don’t think I should go back to work? No. No, not right now, Sean. You’ve been going through so much. I just think that you should take some time off and not jump back into such a high pressure job right now. Okay, well, listen. I get where you’re coming from, okay? I do. But I can handle this, I swear. Hey, look, if things get to be too much at work, then I’ll just stop.

Plus, I’m going to be seeing your mom twice a week, so she’ll keep me honest. Listen, I really think I’m going to be fine. I do. Okay. If that’s what you want. Thank you.

Locked my gut to defining him than ever before. Of course I can’t do it while I’m stuck in this bed. Hmm. Well, nobody’s gonna keep you from finding your son. But I think for right now, you would, you would do well to stay here, rest up, and get your strengths back. And what I’m gonna do is try to put the pieces of your life together.

And hopefully help you find your son. You really mean that? I do mean that. In fact, my, my husband John, um, is a private investigator. Another, uh, John Doe? No. No, his name is John Black. And, um, he calls me Doc as well. But I’m sure he’d be happy to take your case, if that’s okay with you. Are you kidding? I need all do.

You know, everyone here’s been so nice. You know, maybe it was meant to be that young officer brought me here, and led me straight to you, Dr. Evans. You know, this could be the beginning of a real friendship. I think you may be right.

Paulina made a very wise decision. Oh, I don’t know about that, but, um, I’m happy to be back. Yeah, well, you belong in that chair. And the fact that you said all those wonderful things about me… Oh, come on, they were all true. Yeah, well… I really appreciated that. It meant a lot to me. And, uh, you You told me that you were falling in love with me.

And I want you to know that I feel the same way. I’m falling in love with you

too. Well, the mayor’s office just put out a press release. Looks like Rafe has been reinstated as commissioner. Oh, that’s great. Now, if I could just… Get out of here and get back to you and the job and my life. Okay, well I’ll go see what’s taking the paperwork so long. Alright, thank you. But then after that…

Listen, you are not going back to the station. You’re coming home, and that is final. You are taking the rest of the day off, and that is settled. You’ve got no arguments from me. Good. And then maybe I can make us lunch, and we can binge watch something. Oh, there’s a new show on Peacock I wanted to check out.

Okay, as long as it’s not a rom com. Would I do that to you? No, it’s a murder mystery. I don’t remember the name of it, but it got really good previous. But like I said, after that I think we should just get back into a normal routine. That sounds great.

I’m so glad your square wasn’t torn down. You

seem like, like very nice people.

Unlike me, right?

Well, you know. Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bother you. I know you won’t want anything to do with me. No, that’s, that’s not true.

What do you say if we start over again? Really? Really? I

think I like that.

Yeah, I sure do hope Abe and Paulina find their way back to each other because they deserve each other. Unlike our client and her cheating spouse. So what do you say, partner, take the rest of the day off and do a little celebrating? Yeah! Celebrate! Oh! Hey, Doc! Yeah, we’re gonna celebrate. Black patch just wrapped up our latest case.

Oh, that’s wonderful. Because I think I have a new case for you. And I think you’ll find it very interesting.

Okay, the CT scan is almost set up. So if you can just sit tight here, somebody will come and escort you to it. Thank you. Um, how did things go with Dr. Evans? That woman is an angel. Her husband gonna help me find my son. He’s a private eye. Yes, I know that. My husband is his partner. And if anybody can find your son, they can.

From your lips.

Theresa? Hey Brady. It’s been a while.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Nikki: Summer.

Summer: Hi, grandma.

Nikki: It’s so good to see you!

Summer: Oh, it’s good to see you too.

Nikki: So, how are you? More specifically, how are you and kyle?

Summer: Um… we’re moving ahead with the divorce.

Nikki: Oh, no! No, I’m so sorry to hear that. You two have been through so much. I’m sure if you just gave yourselves a little more time–

Summer: More time is not really gonna help. Kyle’s already moved on and he seems perfectly fine with the way that his life is going, so…

[ Summer scoffs ]

Nikki: What do you mean he’s moved on? With someone else?

Summer: Yeah. I’m sure that you’ve heard of her. Audra charles.

Nikki: Kyle and audra charles?

[ Summer sighs ] Oh, my god.

Kyle: Thank you.

Audra: Thanks.

Kyle: That was delicious, as usual. What would you like for dessert?

Audra: Hm. I think you know.

Kyle: Oh.

Audra: Unfortunately, it would involve a shower and–

Nate: Hello, you two.

Kyle: Ah.

Audra: Oh, hey!

Nate: Excuse me for interrupting. Audra, have you spoken to anyone from the newman camp today?

Audra: I was– you know, I talked to victor earlier and I have that meeting with nikki this afternoon. Why? What’s going on?

Nate: Actually, I think this is something we should discuss in private.

[ Knocking on door ]

Ashley: What are you doing here?

Jack: Diane told me what happened. I wanted to make sure you’re okay. Are you all right?

Ashley: Uh, I’m still a little shaken up.

Jack: Yeah, I’ll bet you are.

Ashley: I don’t know what was more shocking. Almost dying by choking on a grape or being rescued by the woman I was convinced wanted me dead more than anybody on the planet.

Jack: Wait, diane doesn’t want you dead.

Ashley: Well, clearly. She saved my life. And that is so ironic, it’s almost cruel.

Billy: Okay, I am not trying to steal jabot from you. Yes, tucker and ashley offered me the brass ring and I pretended to be interested in it because that was the right thing to do to stay on the inside.

Jack: I get it. But no one would be surprised that maybe a kernel of this is true. That you might be tempted to run jabot.

Billy: Because my last go ’round at jabot didn’t quite end like everyone expected? So, this is my opportunity to redeem myself? As you just said, “who wouldn’t do that?” Especially if your name was billy abbott.

Jack: Billy, I don’t believe you would follow through.

Billy: No, but you don’t really 100% trust me, do you? Tucker just planted the seed. I’m just shocked how quickly it’s taken hold. You fully believe that I’m just gonna fall right back where I came from.

Jack: That is not what I said.

Billy: Because you think for one second that I might go to their side. To go against everything that I promised to the company, to our family, to our father’s legacy, the promises that I made to you.

Jack: I’m sorry that you took what I said that way.

Billy: Give me a break, jack. There’s only one way to take that.

Adam: Single malt. Neat.

[ Billy chuckles ]

Billy: Hmm. It’s funny, actually. For the first time in a very long time, maybe actually ever, I can see the world through your eyes. And it ain’t pretty. When it comes to your hair, ingredients matter.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by… eggland’s best.

Adam: Well, this one I got to hear, billy. What could possibly make you sympathetic to the way that I see the world?

Billy: Nope, I– I wouldn’t go that far. I mean, I have empathy because it’s hard to live in the shadow of someone who thinks you’ll never measure up. Especially when they are comparing you to a fabricated ideal that they’ve dreamed up for you.

Adam: Well, I’m guessing that you’re talking about your brother and if– if you’re referring to my relationship with my father, you’re only in the ballpark because it’s a whole lot worse than you can even imagine.

Billy: That I could– I could actually agree with you on, but I’m not just talking about victor. I mean, with you, it’s your entire family. You know, because no matter how hard you’ve tried, you’ve never really measured up to any of them. I mean, victoria, that’s a no. Nick? That’s a definite no.

Adam: I– I– I get it. So, what has jack done now?

[ Billy sighs ]

Jack: Diane is as shaken by all of this as you are. Watching you almost die scared the hell out of her.

Ashley: Yeah, well, she surprised the hell out of me too.

Jack: You honestly thought she would stand there and watch you choke to death?

Ashley: The thought may have crossed her mind.

Jack: No, not for a second. The moment she saw you were in real trouble, all of the acrimony, all of the ugliness went. All the noise and accusations were over. All she cared about was saving your life and that’s what she did. Actually, one other thing, if the situation were reversed, if diane were the one gasping for air, whether you’re willing to admit it or not, you would have done the same thing for her.

Ashley: You really think so?

Jack: Yes, I know so. That’s who you are. Look, I have known you since you came into this world. And I know that beneath all of that gladiator armor you’ve been wearing these past few months, there is a heart and a soul every bit is kind and loving and compassionate as our father’S. That’s who you are, that is your essence. And that is the woman that diane saved.

Ashley: Well, I appreciate you saying that to me, jack.

Jack: I cannot believe I almost lost you. But here you are alive and well and… I’m just, I’m– I’m just grateful, I’m g– grateful to god, I’m grateful to diane and…

Ashley: I’m thankful too.

Jack: You think there’s a chance we could use this as a wake-up call, so that we could all stop this incessant fighting and get back to what really matters?

Kyle: If you two need to have a private conversation, then I’ll just head out.

Nate: Look, I’m sorry if I’m interrupting something. I suppose this can wait until our dinner tonight.

Audra: I’m assuming this is about newman media? In which case kyle should be part of the conversation.

Nate: Okay, okay. This is eventually gonna affect you as well.

[ Nate sighs ] Look, I just want to give you a heads up. But promise me, you’ll pretend you haven’t heard this when you meet with nikki.

Audra: Why? What’s this about?

Kyle: Yeah, it sounds serious. What is it?

Nate: I just got off the phone with victoria.

Audra: Is she still in L.A.?

Nate: Mm-hmm. It seems, uh, victor is rearranging the newman furniture, again. And get this, adam is out completely.

Kyle: You’re kidding.

Audra: Huh. That is interesting. So, what’s gonna happen with the company he, nick, and sharon were formalizing?

Nate: It will be folded into newman media as planned. But nick is stepping back to newman enterprises. As co-ceo.

Audra: But that’s nikki newman’s position.

Nate: Not anymore.

Summer: I– I’m surprised that this is the first that you’re hearing about kyle and audra. He’s working with her at newman media and they’re not being discrete about their relationship. I thought it would just be common knowledge.

Nikki: I am so sorry you’re going through this. And that kyle is doing this to you.

Summer: To be fair, I did betray his trust. And I lied to him. I pushed him away. It’s a lot to come back from.

Nikki: Darling, every couple has their rough patches sooner or later. I mean, look at victor and me after everything we’ve been through. If we are not proof that love can overcome anything, I don’t know who it is.

Summer: I was hoping for that. And I– I did try but… I’ve accepted the fact that it’s just not always the case. I’ve got to let him go, grandma.

Nikki: Audra charles. Unbelievable. I am so glad you told me. In fact, it’s perfect timing.

Summer: Why?

Nikki: You have just given me an opportunity to put that woman in her place. Meet my boyfriend, jake.

Summer: Grandma, whatever you’re planning on doing to audra, please don’T. At least, not on my account.

Nikki: I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Summer: Kyle has moved on, and if he wants to do that with her, then that’s his problem. You know, I just want to move on myself.

Nikki: And I want that for you, darling.

Summer: Okay, good, so you– you don’t need to stir things up just because our marriage is ending. All– all I want is to keep things peaceful between me and kyle, for harrison’s sake. I have learned the hard way through my mom that you can either have drama or you can have a happy life. You really cannot have both.

Nikki: And I don’t disagree. But I promise you, if I do decide to stir things up with audra charles, it’ll be about a lot more than your situation with kyle. That woman needs a good, healthy dose of humility. And would you really object if I happened to be the one to give it to her?

Summer: No. I can’t honestly say that I would.

Kyle: Nate, I think we all know that victor would never fire nikki. Unless he had something better in mind for her.

Audra: And that something is newman media, isn’t it?

Nate: Victor handed it to her to run. According to victoria, it’s still up in air whether she’ll accept or not.

Audra: She’s not gonna turn it down, are you kidding? Which means I’m out, which means victor lied when he told me he had other plans for me. Probably just to pacify me while this all played out.

Nate: Okay, slow down audra, I wasn’t finished. Okay, the news isn’t all bad. You’re not being fired. Per victor, you’ll be nikki’s second-in-command.

Audra: Great. Second-in-command to a woman who has made it clear she doesn’t trust me. Probably doesn’t even like me.

Nate: If it’s what victor wants, she’ll roll with it. Okay? It’s their particular kind of give and take.

Kyle: Um, excuse me for interrupting, but assuming all this goes through, where exactly does that leave me?

Ashley: Have you forgotten? I did end the conflict.

Jack: By walking away? By turning your back on the family? On dad’s company? That’s not a solution I ever hope for. I cannot get it out of my head. I almost lost you. Thank god diane was there.

Ashley: Well, there was other people at the restaurant. I’m sure they would–

Jack: I think you’re missing the point or avoiding it. I’m not sure which.

Ashley: I think you’re making a little bit too much of this.

Jack: Am I? You’re my sister, ashley. My love for you is so much stronger, so much deeper, so much more a part of who I am than all this anger we’ve been sharing. The thought of losing you, even for a second from my life, is more than I want to think about. Please let this gift of life be the olive branch that has been eluding us all this time. Please come back to where you belong. I was stuck.

Ashley: Well, apparently I’m really good at hiding it, but I’ve hated being in this battle with you just as much as you have. When you talk about coming back, I mean… does that mean you can accept tucker in my life because he’s my husband.

Jack: I am willing to try, yes.

Ashley: Do you understand that this entire time I’ve been trying to save your life? All this time. I mean, metaphorically, I, you know, I– I thought diane would be the death of you.

Jack: Metaphorically.

[ Ashley sighs ]

Ashley: Hmm.

Jack: Ashley.

Ashley: Well, you know, I’ve pretty much given up the idea that she would actually try to kill you so that she could inherit your fortune.

[ Jack sighs ] Well, she signed that post-nup, right? I checked it out, it’s legitimate. And now, of course, I owe her my life, so there’s that.

Jack: Go figure, huh? Ash, we are so close to being what we have always been for each other. If you’ll take one step, I’ll take one step, I am convinced with all my heart we can meet in the middle.

Phyllis.

Jack: Yeah. And victor.

Jack: I am so confident that won’t be necessary. I missed you.

[ Ashley sniffles ] I miss my sister. I miss fighting about the important things. Like who got the last cinnamon roll?

Ashley: You’re a cinnamon hog, so clearly it was you.

Jack: Yeah, come to think of it, I think you’re right.

Ashley: You know what else?

Jack: No, you’re not gonna bring up the halloween candy, are you?

Ashley: You owe me for that, but no.

Jack: You were gonna say something else.

Ashley: I miss you.

Adam: Were you not gonna tell me what’s going on with you and jack?

Billy: It’s a fleeting moment of empathy, okay? It’s not an invitation for us to start calling each other, “bro.”

Adam: Well, see, that’s another thing that we have in common. Because I’m no more interested in that than you are.

Billy: Good.

Adam: I just find it interesting that you’re just not seeing the similarities between you and me.

Billy: Now, that is a sobering thought.

Adam: I’m not talking about the similarities between us. I’m talking about the similarities between our family situation. When it comes to you and me, there really is no comparison.

Billy: I’m almost afraid to ask, but what do you mean by that exactly?

Adam: Come on, it’s simple. I am a cold manipulative narcissist and you, you’re just a screw up.

Billy: Thank you.

Adam: But I will say, to be fair, I have heard that you turned a corner. You’re the only sane, rational executive at jabot these days. I– is that what jack is threatening to take away from you?

Billy: No. No, it’s not that. It just feels like he’s simply waiting for me to, as you so kindly put it, screw up again.

[ Billy sighs ] And it’s just getting really old.

Adam: Well, that is the big difference in our family situation. Victor giveth and victor taketh away on nothing more than a whim or a bad mood with nothing to back it up on the fact that he can. See? Jack is a much fairer boss. He’s a much fairer man. If you earn your position, you respect it and you do right by the company, he will not cut you loose. So, is he really waiting for you to screw up or are– are you?

Nate: If I knew what all this means for you, I’d tell you, but frankly, your name didn’t even come up in the conversation.

Kyle: Wow, that’s confidence inspiring.

Audra: Hey, kyle, don’t worry about it, okay? You know, you can count on me to praise your work and your value to newman media, when I see nikki later today. You know, she’s a smart woman. She’ll get it. Unless there is something she has against you that I don’t know about? Any problems, any vendettas. Uh-oh, what is it?

[ Kyle sighs ] Talk to me.

Kyle: Well, there’s the fact that her granddaughter and i are getting divorced.

Nate: Does nikki know about that?

Kyle: I would assume so. The newman family is nothing if not enmeshed, but I have no idea if nikki knows audra and I are involved. If she doesn’t, she will. And count on it, when that happens, things will get ugly fast.

Audra: Hm. I’m kareem abdul jabbar.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. What can you do with sensitive skin?

Audra: Ugly for me, for you or both of us?

Kyle: We’ll know soon enough. Victor at least respects you. I doubt he feels the same about me now that I’m divorcing his granddaughter.

Audra: Hey, I promise I will have your back on this.

Kyle: Thank you, but forgive me if I don’t hold my breath, I mean, let’s face it, this company has done very well with a small leadership team and I would love for this to work out, but if it doesn’t, I need to start putting together plan B.

Nate: You’re getting a little ahead of yourself there, kyle.

Audra: Yeah, nate’s right. Don’t start filling out job applications just yet, okay? Let’s just see how this all plays out. You know, give me a chance to work my magic. As you know, I can be very persuasive. And I mean, it’s not like you need to work.

Kyle: Okay, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go to work. I’ll see you at the office. And um, thank you for the heads-up. I appreciate it.

Nate: Mm-hmm. See you.

[ Footsteps departing ] You do know he probably won’t survive this, right?

Audra: It’ll be what it’ll be.

Nate: That is a bit cold.

Audra: Oh, it’s not like we’re serious, okay? Kyle and i are just having fun. We both went into this from the beginning with that clear understanding.

Nate: Are you sure it’s clear to both of you?

Audra: Well, it’s time for me to go meet nikki. Wish me luck.

[ Footsteps departing ]

Billy: About this offer, about the information that you have on tucker mccall you were willing to share for the right price?

Adam: What about it? Did you come up with something?

Billy: I’m open to suggestions, if you have any.

Adam: Yes, well, I’m reconsidering. Given my situation, I might need to keep that information for myself.

Billy: Okay, then, that’s that.

[ Sighs ] Thanks for the tease.

[ Billy grunts ] That was intriguing while it lasted.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Jack: So now, that we’ve determined how much we miss each other, at the risk of pressing my luck, where do we go from here? Are you still determined to start a new company that will compete with jabot?

Ashley: Oh, boy. Listen, I need some time to think. I need to have a conversation with tucker, that’s for sure.

Jack: Yeah, of course, I get that. Take all the time you want. Whatever happens, happens. All I really care about is that you and I are brother and sister, not enemies. It means the world to me, ash.

Ashley: Me too.

[ Jack sighs ]

Audra: Hi.

Nikki: Oh, audra, thank you so much for coming.

Audra: Oh, it’s my pleasure. Uh, thank you so much for the invitation. You know, it was such a nice surprise, and a hopeful one, I admit, that you wanted to meet with me.

Nikki: Well, please sit down.

Audra: Of course.

Nikki: May i offer you some tea?

Audra: That would be lovely. Thank you. Thank you so much. Um, I am assuming this has something to do with the sna-newman media merger.

Nikki: We’ll get to that. But first, would you mind telling me what the hell you’re doing with kyle abbott? Kayaking is my thing.

Audra: Oh, I’m so glad you brought up kyle abbott, mrs. Newman. You know, I can’t say enough of what a great job he’s been doing at newman media. You know, he was a very smart hire, if I do say so myself.

Nikki: Oh, my god, that coy act might work on the men in your life, but it won’t get you anywhere with me. You know very well I was not referring to newman media. I was referring to the fling you’re having with him.

Audra: Oh. [ Chuckles ] So, we’re going there.

Nikki: Oh, we’re already there. You do realize that kyle is married to my granddaughter.

Audra: But from what I understand, they’re getting a divorce.

Nikki: Don’t split hairs with me. If you are as smart as some say you are, then you know that the game that kyle is playing with you is merely to avoid the pain of the breakup. Which means you are standing in the way of a possible reconciliation.

Audra: Well, with all due respect, kyle is a grown man who makes his own choices about what he wants and who he wants in his life. And, um… it’s also, my understanding that your granddaughter was hardly blameless in their problems.

Nikki: And your point is?

Audra: Look, I’m not unsympathetic to summer. Look, believe me, mrs. Newman, I know firsthand just how painful that kind of thing can be.

Nikki: Of course, you do. You broke my grandson’s heart. Tell me, is it my family that brings out this self-serving viciousness or is it just your nature?

Audra: Well, apparently, no one ever told you the full story. Things were– they were very complex between him and me and in the end… we– we broke each other’s hearts. You know, and frankly, um, I don’t feel comfortable discussing my private life with my new boss, so…

Nikki: Oh, you know. How did you find out? Oh, of course, nate told you.

Audra: Um, look, I– I don’t think we’re getting anywhere here, so if I may just ask you one question.

Nikki: What is it?

Audra: Am I in or am I out?

Summer: Hello.

Kyle: Sorry, I obviously, didn’t know you were here. How are you?

Summer: Uh, I’m good. How are you? How– how’s harrison?

Kyle: [ Laughs ] Let’s see. Um, he is mad at whoever invented brussels sprouts, and he wants us to get him an emu for his birthday like he saw on tv.

Summer: Yeah, he actually– he told me that yesterday.

Kyle: Yeah? What’d you say?

Summer: I said that he needed to just ask his father.

Kyle: Gee, thanks.

[ Summer chuckles ] So, I hear chloe’s joined marchetti and chelsea’s working remotely. How’s that going?

Summer: It’s– it’s going really well. How’s everything at newman media?

Kyle: It’s hard to say. There seems to be an internal shake up at newman, in general. It remains to be seen how that’ll affect newman media or me, for that matter.

Summer: Well, I’m sure you’ll survive. You always do.

[ Soft piano music ]

Adam: There he is. Ladies and gentlemen, the newly appointed newman golden boy.

Nate: Hm, I’d hardly call myself that, adam.

Adam: Oh, come on. The sash fits, right?

Nate: Have i impressed victor? Absolutely. That’s because I work hard and I’m damn good, but I am still status quo at newman and I didn’t get promoted, but i lucked out and kept my job.

Adam: Oh, and I didn’T. It’s kind of ironic, isn’t it? Victor newman’s son, I’m out, and you’re still there? I mean, I guess, nepotism is overrated after all. Do you want a piece of advice?

Nate: Not particularly.

Adam: Don’t get too comfortable.

Nikki: Are you in or are you out at newman media? It’s a very interesting question.

Audra: More than just interesting from my perspective.

Nikki: Yes, I would imagine. Crucial, actually. On one hand, every instinct is screaming for me to get rid of you. Frankly, I have issues with the way you live your life. Yes, I know. I know. It’s none of my business, as you were so eager to point out. Which would be true if you didn’t continue to target people that I love.

Audra: Might I know the other hand?

Nikki: Well, I can’t argue with the work you’ve done. It’s good, impressive even.

Audra: Well, thank you for noticing.

Nikki: It’s my job to notice, and you did come to victor when adam was trying to blackmail you. So, victor thinks a lot of you.

Audra: Um, well, that’s– that’s great to hear. So, um…

Nikki: So… I have decided to give you a chance.

Audra: Thank you so much, mrs. Newman. I promise you, you– you won’t regret this.

Nikki: All right, well, before you get too excited, there’s one condition.

Audra: Whatever you say.

Nikki: Let kyle and summer have a shot at getting back together.

Audra: I don’t know what that means.

Nikki: It means forget about kyle. Leave him alone or your future at newman media is over.

Summer: So, um… heather, daniel’s ex, she’s gonna be in genoa city for a while, she’s doing some pro bono cases here.

Kyle: Okay.

Summer: Well, I asked her if she could help me with the divorce proceedings. She said that she would.

Kyle: Got it. I’m sure, it’s, uh, for the best, summer.

Summer: Yeah. I’m sure it is too. I mean, we both need to move on, right? Not look back.

Kyle: Right. Better get back to the office.

Summer: Yeah, god, me too. Bye.

Kyle: See you.

[ Footsteps departing ]

Jack: Thanks. I’m glad you’re here.

Billy: Jack, honestly, I’m not in the mood. So, if you don’t mind–

Jack: Could we just talk? I left several messages for you apologizing for our misunderstanding.

Billy: Right, that’s what that was to you, right? A misunderstanding. That’s your euphemism for me reverting back to form? You just– you just can’t help yourself, can you?

Jack: Let’s not turn this into a conflict, okay? Look, this is not the day for it. I just came from being with ashley. It could not have gone better. We went a long way toward reconciling. I’d like to do the same with you.

Billy: So, you bought all that, huh?

Jack: Yeah, I know our sister, that was real. I guarantee it.

[ Ashley sighs ]

John: Now, I am worried, my beauty.

Ashley: About what?

John: You and jack. And what’s happening between the two of you. Honey, all this animosity, it’s not good for you or for the company. And it has to stop. Now, I am counting on you to make the first move.

Ashley: Figure some things out.

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Daniel: Having heather in town has thrown me for a loop.

Phyllis: Sort of stirred up some old feelings?

Nikki: Not quite ready to talk about newman media. I would much rather talk about you and what the hell you’re doing with your life.

Billy: The way I see it, there’s only one person that’s gonna do whatever they can to protect my family’s company. And you’re looking at him.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

No, no, that’s good. That’s, uh, excellent news. Yeah, we’ll be in touch. Cyrus: It is not often that we get to appreciate and live in the humility of the lord, but on days when our salvation is imminent, our faith calls us to give thanks in an especially joyful way. Hear me when I tell you something good is coming! Yes. And we who have waited with faith and patience and humility are privileged to bear witness. Rejoice, my brothers! Rejoice! Amen! Amen. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I know I’m cutting it close. That concert starts soon. Oh, don’t worry about it. I guess you didn’t see my text. I’m not going. You’re not joking, chase, are you? No. I’m 100% serious. You want me to move in with you? Yes. No! Slow night, huh? Well, not exactly. I sent everyone home. You sent everyone home? Why? I wanted us to be alone out here. To do what, exactly? Remember. Remember? Yes, ned. Remember us. Remember who you used to be. Papa… why do you have that look? What look would that be? The look you get when you’re about to tell me something I won’t like.

[ Door opens ] Wow. It seems so empty. This was your “big surprise”? A visit to aunt lulu’s house? Georgie. Some surprise. I thought we were going to the woodchucks game. Oh. Don’t worry, james. We’re gonna get to a game very soon. But right now, we are on an amazing adventure. What? Yeah. What is this amazing adventure? We’re here to explore. Explore what? The house! And maybe to stake out which bedroom is gonna be your new room. Wait. You mean — no more sharing. We’re moving in here. This is our new house. Unfortunately, that’s a question for olivia, and she’s not here right now, so you’re — you’re gonna have to wait. Goodbye.

[ Inhales sharply ] Hey.

[ Chuckling ] Hi! This is a nice surprise. I didn’t think you were coming here tonight. Well, you know, this is the best joint in town. Especially the view.

[ Chuckles ] Well, I’m glad you like it. Listen, sonny, there’s something that I really need to talk to you about. I — hello, you two. Dad. Nina, are you joining us? Um…n-no. This dinner is just for you two. I have to work. Olivia asked me to be on the floor a bit tonight. Okay — wait, wait, wait. What’d you — what’d you have to tell me? I can just take care of it myself. It’s nothing. It really is nothing. Enjoy your dinner. There is a great steak special tonight. Well, then I got it all — I got great steak, gorgeous fiancée, brilliant daughter. You know, I got it all right here, right?

[ Sighs ]

Olivia… just please — just please listen to me for a second. Please. Your daughter, ned’s daughter, brook lynn, is in a lot of pain right now because of something that tracy did. She ran out of the house because of your mother. Don’t — don’t put that on me. No, no, no, no, of course not. But you — you were always the bridge between the two of them. You could always sort it out. There are people who still need you. Your mother and your daughter and our son, “the kid,” leo. For their sake… could you please just try? I’ll send a waitress over. I want to thank you, kristina, for being so supportive of nina. Dad, I genuinely like her. Not everyone’s against you two. And I can see how happy she makes you. You deserve that. Cyrus: Today is a day for miracles, a time of righteousness and, yes, vengeance. But without the dark, there can be no light. And without vengeance, there can be no righteousness. So let us pray that this vengeance passes by unscathed so we may testify to the cleansing power of our creator, for all the world’s a cage, and we are all merely inmates in god’s celestial play, trying to break free from the grip of licentiousness and arrogance and evil. As it says in deuteronomy 23:14, “for the lord thy god walketh in the midst of thy camp to deliver thee and to give up thine enemies before thee.” “Therefore shall thy camp be holy that he see no unclean thing in thee and turn away from thee.” Grandma nina!

[ Laughing ] Wiley! Hi! Oh! Look how happy she is. We can’t go to the concert anymore because now suddenly dex has to do something for sonny. Ohh. I hate that you know exactly how I’m feeling. Okay, so dex has to work for sonny, and you have to make alternate plans. I’ve been there, done that. No, mom, it’s not that. I-it’s the situation. And I know I said that I was moving on and trying to put it behind me, but I hate that he’s putting himself in danger. That’s who dex was when you met him. He’s a guy who takes risks, for better or for worse, josslyn. Well, yeah, but — but now he’s protecting sonny and taking those risks because of you and because of michael. And that’s his choice.

And for his protection. Yeah, I know. I know. It’s just, some days are harder than others. I get that. But if you got into this thinking you were gonna change him, that’s not gonna happen. You don’t want to live with me? Chase, I-I don’t really think you’ve thought this through. Yes, I have, brook lynn. Oh, really? Because a whole two-and-a-half-second deliberation isn’t exactly thorough. It’s not like we haven’t lived together before. Exactly. That’s what I’m saying. The first time I drove you absolutely crazy. The second time was for bailey. And the third time — the third time will be for love.

So, aunt maxie and her family are gonna live in my mom’s house? Your mother always loved maxie and her children. I mean, don’t you think it’ll be nice to have some people in that house? It’s been sitting empty. Yeah, but I just wish it was my mom coming home to live there. Well, yeah, I do, too. But how do you feel about maxie and the kids moving in? Why bother asking me when it’s already done? Listen, the decision to rent was dante’S. I’m just asking because I care about your feelings. So, why don’t you tell me? It’s just another place, like all of the places I’ve lived. None of them last. This house is huge! And there’s a backyard! I can make a tree house! Wait, how many rooms are there? Um… alright, bucko, let’s take a reconnaissance mission and find out and count the rooms. You ready? Ready for takeoff? Let’s go!

[ Laughs ] What’s going on, georgie? Don’t you like the house? Of course I like it. I remember playing here when I was little. It seemed even bigger then. But… this is aunt lulu’s house. I — I don’t want to change dex. Why would you say that? ‘Cause I’ve been down this road many times. And I wouldn’t be your mother if I didn’t want to spare you from unnecessary pain. I’m not in pain. Okay. Alright. You don’t have to convince me. You don’T. You just have to be honest with yourself. I mean, josslyn, worrying about dex, knowing he’s always in danger — that’s a heavy burden. And if you decide that you don’t want to do this anymore and you don’t want to be a part of that life, it’s okay. You just have to admit it first to yourself. And then you got to tell dex. Oh, my god, mom, don’t put your history with sonny onto me, okay? I’m just disappointed. And that doesn’t mean that i want to break up with dex, okay? Actually, I think I’m still gonna go to the concert because I have a bunch of friends going, so… okay, great. Don’t wait up for me. Okay. Chase, you know I love you, right? Yes. And part of the reason I do is because you’re like — you’re like a knight. When someone’s in trouble, you can’t help but want to fix it. But you’re not just someone, brook lynn. We’re in a good place. I see you’re hurting at home. I don’t — chase, I appreciate your concern. Really, I do. But I just — I don’t think that living together is what we need right now. I am so surprised to see you. I’m glad you came, wiley. I didn’t know he would be here.

[ Laughs ] I want to go see grandpa. Yeah? Come on, let’s go see him. Hey, hey! Right here, right here! Yeah! Wiley, you are looking very sharp, my friend. Mommy, when can we go to grandpa’s and have a barbecue and play baseball? Well, hey, you know what? Where I live is kind of high up. You really can’t play baseball. But if you stand on the terrace, you can see all of port charles. Really? Mom, let’s all go and have a picnic on the terrace. You come, too, kristina. Okay. And amelia, grandma nina, grandpa sonny, mommy, daddy. And can we invite leo, too?! You can invite anybody you want. Hey. Looks like a party. Yeah. Nina was here when I arrived. And then wiley saw sonny and had to say hello. Willow, if it’s okay with you, it’s okay with me. Daddy! Hey, bud. Hey.

Georgie, look, aunt lulu is my best friend. And I think she would want us to fill this place with laughter and memories, just like the memories we made with her when she lived here. Won’t it make you miss aunt lulu more if we live here? Oh, sweetie.

[ Breathes deeply ] I’m gonna miss aunt lulu no matter where we live. That’s not gonna change. But being here… does make me feel a teeny bit closer to her. You know, it’s almost like she gave us a little present, right? Look, I wouldn’t have brought you guys here if I didn’t feel good about it. Can I paint my room purple? Yes, you can paint your room purple.

[ Laughs ]

[ Footsteps approaching ] Guess what, georgie. There are four bedrooms, one for each of us, and I’ve already picked mine. Hey, no fair! Provisionally, james. I’m older. I get to pick first. Oh, I forgot. Age before beauty. I am so glad you’re doing this. So am I. What do you want me to do? Oh, thank you. Thank you so much. I’m not making any guarantees. I understand. I understand that. I just want to walk you through what happened that night, alright? The night of the supposed accident? Yeah, just to see if anything comes back to you, right? Wait. How can you walk me through it when you weren’t here? I heard that it was just tracy and drew that saw it. Yes, but drew — drew told me everything that happened. So, you know, we could just — we could just give it a try, right? Alright. Whatever. Lay it on me. Okay. You started out over here, right? And you saw drew and tracy arguing over here. Okay? So, you just walk to me slowly and you see if anything feels familiar. Okay? You ready? Ready. You just said it, chase. We’re in a really good place, and I’d really like to keep it that way. And moving in — it’s not gonna change that. If anything, it’ll make us closer. Closer to world war iii.

[ Sighs ] Look, I drove you crazy when I was just temporarily couch surfing. Look, I am not the neatest person, okay? I leave my stuff everywhere. I thrive in creative clutter. Aha! See? I told you I’m right. So, we had a few discussions about clutter. More than a few. You were counting the days until I left you to your zen world of order. And then when you left, my place felt empty. I missed you, and it — and it hasn’t felt right since you left. Make it right. Move back in with me. Oh, hey, steve. So, do you want the usual? Busy night on the docks, huh? Yes, ma’am, to both. Okay. Hey, I like what you’ve done with the place. Thanks. Yeah, it’s gotten a lot nicer since you took over. Well, it is a personal project, you know? Um, look, uh… this might not be my place to say, but I thought you should know. Your ex-husband, uh — he’s in for a world of trouble. Brothers, let’s, uh, take a break to meditate on our redemption. Warden garten, I hope you haven’t come to stop our study. My friends and I are only trying to let go of our past so we can look toward a righteous future. Don’t worry, cyrus. I’m not here to break up your group. I just wanted to see it for myself. I’m impressed. Your support means a great deal. Well, you genuinely seem like a changed man. After my heart attack, I have come to see life in a new light. My faith was rejuvenated. While I might not share your exact faith, cyrus, I’m relying on you for our common cause. Oh, trust me, warden garten. I want nothing but the best. I believe everything is unfolding exactly as it’s meant to be. Let’s hope so. I have only one purpose now — to bring about god’s will on earth. I’d hate for you to disappoint me after all your progress. Warden garten? Sometimes the most unexpected alliances can lead to extraordinary outcomes. Who knows what difference I and my flock together can achieve? Dex: They’re late. Sometimes there are delays. The shipment is too important for them not to pick up. They’ll be here. Well, the sooner, the better. The boss wants this stuff out of here. Hello, michael. Nina. I’ll get you a table. Hey, trish? And you, little man, it was so good to see you. Bye, grandma nina! Bye, sweetheart. Right this way. Daddy, can we have grandpa and nina over for baseball and a barbecue? They live up too high. We can have a party with everyone at our house. Well, you know what? If that’s what you want, I think we can make it happen, mr. Corinthos.

[ Laughs ] I can’t believe how fast he’s growing up. Such a nice surprise. Was that you? No. I wish I could take credit for that, but I cannot tell a lie. That was pure synchronicity. So, why’d you want to meet me for dinner? Do I have to have a reason? You always do. Yeah, I guess that’s true. Okay. I wanted you to be the very first to know that the lgbtqia+ foundation board is complete! The corinthos-davis house is a go! That’s fantastic. I’m so excited. And, dad, I could not have done it without you.

okay, this is the spot where you fell. Drew said that you came rushing towards him over here and that you had something really important to tell him and — nina. Hi.

[ Chuckles ] I-I don’t mean to interrupt whatever you two are doing, but marika said that you closed the pool, and I was just coming out to see if everything’s okay. Oh. Yeah. I’m sorry. I should have warned you. Uh, we’re just doing a little exercise, trying to see if we could stimulate eddie’s memory. Hi, nina. Hello, ned. Are you sure that’s wise? Yeah, I think anything that could help. Well, I-I know that trauma is very unpredictable, and I would hate for you to risk anything. Thank you very much, nina. I think we’re okay. No, I don’t mean anything by that. I-I hope your experiment works.

[ Chuckles ] Okay. Good luck. I’ve really done a number on you, haven’t I? Always shuffling around, moving from place to place. It can’t have been easy, and if I hurt you, I’m sorry. That’s — that’s my fault. I always knew you’d be with me if you could. I know you’re in between places, living with anna while I was at camp and with grandma away, I can’t stay in her apartment with spencer, ace, and esme. Dante and sam are nice, but… it’s not your home. I know. And that’s what I’ve always wanted to give you — a stable place to call home. Listen to me. Things are changing. As we speak, things are changing. I know. Things are always changing. That’s the only thing that stays the same. I’m gonna be totally honest. It feels really strange to be here after all this time. Look, I-I know we had to get out of that apartment. And I was putting together my finances so I could buy a place, and then tracy’s horrible lawsuit happened. So I was happy when sam suggested that we rent this place. I mean, can you imagine trying to juggle a lawsuit and a mortgage at the same time? I would have been pulling my hair out. Yeah. Tracy quartermaine leaves a trail of destruction wherever she goes. I don’t like to wish ill on anyone, but I will be so glad when you wipe that smug smile off her face and win the lawsuit. And you will win because you have the truth on your side. I’m not so sure about that, mom. Tracy quartermaine is ruthless. And she’ll do anything to win, including using her own granddaughter as a spy. Chase, you know the expression “be careful what you wish for, you just might get it”? I know it. Whatever happened to the fearless blq who leaps before she looks? Well, maybe she became a little more cautious because she sprained her ankles a few too many times. Look… I have something to lose now — you. And I don’t want you to regret me moving in. I’m not gonna regret you moving in. You might. It’s not just because I’m messy, chase. It’s ’cause I do stuff, stupid stuff that I regret, like getting mixed up with tracy’s dirty tricks. Um, I don’t want to cause you any problems… but what do you mean, “trouble”? I don’t know. And it’s probably nothing, you know, but, uh, I passed what seemed to be a staging area, you know, down by elm near fisherman village. Looked like feds. But definitely not local. And, uh…I heard the name “corinthos.” Today is a day our unspoken adversary is just one step behind. And those of us who have been in his employ, willingly or not, are now called upon to awaken and to cast off his infernal darkness. Wake up! Your life is waiting for you! I wish more residents were as inspired as mr. Renault. You weren’t after aurora’s ceo — you wanted to take down carly. I don’t know where you came up with this, ned, but you couldn’t be more wrong. I just overheard your conversation with your lawyer — martin. You know, everyone believes that I was the one who handed carly and drew over to the sec, but it was you all along. Willow: Nina. Hi. Is everything alright? Did you order? Oh, yes. Yes, we did. Thank you. But, um, wiley has an idea that we should have a barbecue with baseball at our house. Yeah! I just got a new glove! Nina: [ Gasps ] Does that sound like something you would like to join us for?

[ Chuckles ] I would love to go.

[ Chuckles ] I don’t want to jinx it, but I think wiley might be the key to michael and willow accepting nina. They have been through a lot, and I think things are finally starting to turn. I’m so happy for you both. And I think you’re leading the way with this new center. Yeah? I’m very proud of you. Thanks, dad.

Anything? I don’t know. I’ve been told so often about what happened that night that I-I feel like i might remember. But I don’T. I don’T. This is just another pool. Okay. Well, I guess I knew it was a long shot. I’m sorry to disappoint you. No, no, no, no, you were amazing. Really. And thank you so much for trying. Olivia, you have been really good to me. And I have been pretty hard on you. And I just want to say I’m sorry. Well, you are forgiven. Friends? Friends. It’s not just about us moving in together, chase, although that’s definitely nerve-wracking. Look, I don’t have the greatest track record. And this whole situation with tracy is just another thing I messed up. I’m not asking or expecting you to be perfect, brook lynn. I love you just the way you are, flaws and all. And I’m not trying to rescue you. You moving in — it makes sense. To me, anyway. How about you? When you strip away all the worries and regrets of the past, how do you feel about it?

[ Inhales sharply ]

[ Coughing ] Here you go. No, no, no, no, no. Please. This is on me. Nah, nah, you don’t have to do that. Yes. I really appreciate the information you gave me. Thank you. Thank you. Chase: Excuse me, carly. May I have a glass of water for brook lynn? Would it be alright if I brought wiley over there and showed him how to make a roy rogers? And you can tell me all about this new mitt. What do you say, bud? Can I please?

[ Laughter ] Okay, but just a small one. You don’t want all that sugar. Oh, no, we definitely don’t want that. Thanks. Come on.

[ Sighs ] You, um — you sure you’re okay with this? You’ve been having a lot of nina lately. It’s fine. Look, I’m not 100% comfortable with her, but wiley is. Yeah, I’ll say. And we have to start somewhere. The important thing is bringing this whole family back together. Okay, now we add the sugar-free cola. We don’t want it to get too… dad, we can go over there if you want. No, she’s got it covered. I want to hear more about your board ’cause I know you did a lot to get it going. Yes. Okay. So, we have dr. Randolph, michael, and you know diane.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Yeah. You can get that, dad. Uh, no, this is more important.

[ Ringing stops ] We may be tarred with a brush whose mark can never be removed, but that does not mean we can’t contribute to god’s work. Perhaps we may never sit at the foot of his majestic throne, but we can know that our lives have not been lived in vain. There is a way for each and every one of us to do our part of the divine work, no matter how small that part may seem, for the lord said the lowest among us, the most damaged among us is capable of redemption. And he who protects the innocent is first among men. There they are. Alright, you know what to do. I want everything ready for a quick transfer.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hey, I got to take this, okay? I’ll be back before the ship docks. You got it, dex.

[ Ringing continues ] Ms. Spencer? Dex. Look, josslyn told me you were doing a job for sonny tonight. Uh… look, whatever it is, get the hell out of there. There’s gonna be a raid. Do you hear me? Get out of there now!

I have a real good feeling about you being here, almost as if the house is welcoming you. It wants you to make it into a home again. I think lulu would want that, too. It’s a new beginning. Kind of like you and the hospital. Yeah, you’re right. That came as a surprise. I never saw myself working as a volunteer at general hospital. I’m sure you’ll be a lot better at it than I was. I love you, maxie jones.

[ Voice breaking ] And I’m so proud of you. Oh, mom, don’t cry. Come here. I love you, too. James: Mom, I got the nook! Oh! My room has a secret hiding spot! Yeah, well, I got the view and the window seat. And bailey can have the little room. When can we move in? Not soon enough. Should we go home and start packing? Alright. Come on. Okay. Let’s go. Charlotte, I know I’ve let you down. Papa, let’s not talk about that. No. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve made far more mistakes than I care to mention. It’s taken me way too long to get you the stable life that you deserve. I don’t care how long it took. I just wish we could be together all the time. We will be. We will be. I just have to get these last details in place. But until then, know this — you’re the most important person in my world. It’ll always be the two of us. Just the two of us, papa. Oh. Ahh. I literally talked myself hoarse trying to come up with all the reasons why I shouldn’t live with you. You know you have to take care of your throat, brook lynn. The truth is, I do want this. I want nothing more than to live with you.

[ Chuckles ] I knew you would see it my way eventually.

[ Laughs ] Let’s go home. We’re just about to move some cargo. The boat is docking. Dex, forget about that. There is no time. You have to get out of there.

[ Radio chatter ] Coast guard! Nobody move! Fbi! Hands where I can see ’em! You’re all under arrest. Get down on the ground. Now!

[ Radio chatter ] Cyrus: Today the almighty will focus his cleansing vengeance on those who collaborate with our great enemy. Proverbs 2:22 — “but the wicked shall be cut off from the earth and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.” Well, the least I can do is buy you a drink after going through the poolside psychodrama with me. I’ll never turn down top shelf. Well, there’s a little quartermaine left in you. That looks delicious. With two cherries. The important thing for the first board meeting is that we can establish — sonny corinthos, you’re under arrest for violations of the national security act. Wait, wait. What the hell? That’s — get your hands off my daughter! Mr. Corinthos, do not escalate this. I’m not escalating nothing! Kristina, kristina, hold on. No. There’s no — there’s no problem here. The hell there is. They’re arresting dad. We’re gonna clear this up, kristina. Dad — cuff him. Whoa. Hey, that’s my — what are they doing to grandpa? Why are they taking him? It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s gonna be okay. Kristina, this is gonna be cleared up. But it’s crazy. Dad. They can’t just take you — no. No. Wait. Hold on. Hey — michael, do something. Cyrus: “The lord trieth the righteous, but the wicked and him that loveth violence, his soul hateth. Upon the wicked, he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and horrible tempest. This shall be the portion of their cup!”

Finn: So, this is– this is for real? You’re– you’re sure?

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: Yeah?

Steffy: Yeah. I want to bring the kids, and I want to come back home.

Finn: You have no idea how bad I’ve wanted to hear you say those words.

[ Both chuckling ]

[ Liam sighs ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Liam: Uh, hey, what are you doing here?

Ridge: I have some news about Steffy.

Sheila: Am I boring you?

Deacon: What? Uh, no, I– I just got a message that the health inspector is going to be here in a couple of days. I, uh… work just never stops… but then again, neither do you.

Sheila: I’m going to take that as a compliment.

Deacon: Look, I know that you want to repair your relationship with Finn, and I’m skeptical, and I also know it’s not going to deter you.

Sheila: Look at you. He’s charming, and he’s a quick learner. You know what? That just might get you another massage.

Deacon: I would rather have a colonoscopy and a date at the DMV.

[ Sheila laughs ]

Deacon: Let me ask you something. I– I know that you want to have a real lasting relationship with Finn, but you said “today.” What’s going on in that crazy, sexy head of yours, Sheila?

Sheila: You know, I’ve been known to work miracles with inspectors, among others. I’m pretty sure I can get this place to pass.

Deacon: Hey, lady, I don’t know what kind of, uh, establishment you think we’re running here, but it’s on the up-and-up. We’ll pass on our own merit.

Sheila: Look at you.

Deacon: What?

Sheila: Like a daddy bear protecting his restaurant. That is so sexy when you are so focused and successful. It kind of gets me going.

Deacon: Hm. You know what else? It lets you dodge my question. So tell me, what are you up to?

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: Okay, fine. I, uh… I just, I– I’m tired of feeling like my life is on hold, and I’m going to do something about that. I’m going to make it happen, today.

Liam: Wh– Steffy? What– what about Steffy, that you’d have to come here?

Ridge: She’s made a decision. She’s taking the kids and going back to Finn.

Finn: I’m sorry. I am so sorry that I lost your trust. You know I never meant to. But I know in– I mean, I have known since the moment I met you that you would always come first, okay? And the same goes for our sweet little family. You can always trust that, okay? Oh, my God, I missed you. I missed you, Kelly and Hayes so much.

Steffy: Kelly and Hayes have missed you. And never doubt how much I’ve missed you. I love you so much.

Finn: I love you.

Sheila: Oh, don’t.

Deacon: I didn’t say a word.

Sheila: No, but I know that look. You have made your opinions perfectly clear about me having a relationship with Finn.

Deacon: Look, all I was going to say is this, you shouldn’t feel like your life is on hold. Hell, you’ve been given another chance here. All charges dropped, Sheila. You can start over… you can reinvent yourself. You got a place to stay. You’ve got someone you can count on.

Sheila: Oh, Deacon, don’t. And don’t misunderstand what I have said. I am deeply grateful for everything that you have done for me, and I try to show my appreciation as often as I can, but if– if I’m being honest, I feel like my– my life is on hold. Like I’m– I’m held up in this– in this tiny apartment because no one is going to accept me. Hell, they– they all hate me. But I feel if I– if I can just win Finn over, nothing else is going to matter. Now, I will finally be accepted by my beautiful, handsome son that I was forced to put up for adoption years ago.

Liam: I mean, I guess I just– I have a hard time believing Steffy would choose to go back to Finn when nothing’s changed, right? The situation is the same. The– the stakes are the same. The risks are the same and– and now that Finn has made it clear to Sheila that he’s vulnerable to her, she’s going to strike again. Like, Steffy knows this, she’s smarter than this. She’s– no offense. That’s not– I’m not, that’s not what I’m saying….

Ridge: I know what you meant.

Liam: I really hope she doesn’t take her eye off the ball.

Ridge: I don’t think she will. She still has nightmares about Sheila and what she did to her.

Liam: Well, that’s the problem. None of us should be having any dreams about Sheila, nightmare or otherwise, because the woman should be spending the rest of her life in prison.

Ridge: And I think I’m responsible for her not being in prison.

Liam: Why are you responsible? You and my dad did literally everything you could–

Ridge: We did everything? Really? Did we?

Liam: Well…

Ridge: No, your dad’s plan made no sense. And I shouldn’t have trusted him because he’s an idiot. No offense.

Liam: None taken.

Ridge: I knew none of that was ever going to be admissible in court. I should’ve known that. Surveillance cameras he just put in? Of course it’s not going to work. And here I am in a basement with Chen for week after week learning how he grew up in Pacoima, like I care.

Liam: I– I know, but–

Ridge: I should’ve asked more questions. I should have been– I should have done more.

Liam: I’m trying to tell you, this is the difference between you and Finn. One of you is willing to do everything, whatever it takes to protect your family, and the other one isn’t, and this is what’s freaking me out. It’s not just that Finn is complacent. He’s sympathetic to Sheila, and she’s around now. She’s not going anywhere, and we’ve well-established that there is no restraining order, there’s no security detail, there’s nothing that’s going to just keep her away. She wants love, right? That’s what she wants. And she’s decided that who she wants it from is… is her son.

Finn: Do the kids know that they’re coming home?

Steffy: No, I– I wanted to discuss it with you first.

Finn: Oh, yeah, sure. Yeah.

Steffy: Look, I have to admit I’m a bit– I am a bit nervous about bringing Kelly and Hayes back, knowing that Sheila is out there somewhere.

Finn: Yeah, I, um… I made a visit to Liam earlier. I made it clear that he needs to respect you and our marriage. But, um… he actually said something that resonated. It is my job first and foremost to assure you that you’re safe from Sheila — you, and the kids. And I promise that I will do everything in my power to protect you guys. Okay, you’re going to be safe here. All right?

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: Yeah. Yeah.

[ Deacon groans ]

Deacon: What are you looking for?

Sheila: I am tired of waiting for this miracle reunion with my son. I’m going to make it happen.

Deacon: Sheila, maybe you ought to just take a minute.

Sheila: Take a minute? Have you listened to anything at all that I have said?

Deacon: Okay, if you’re not going to take a minute, then take stock, okay? You beat the law, again. And then you literally got Finn to embrace you after the fact.

Sheila: I didn’t do that. I– it was– it was bigger, our…

Deacon: Oh– oh, you– your connection, right? No, uh, look, I get it, okay? But that’s a big step. You shot the guy, and you left him for dead. And then through the craziest– strangest set of circumstances, you were at the right place at the right time to save his stepdaughter from drowning, on his watch. And then what happened? He started looking at you with new eyes. Hell, he even called you “Mom.”

Sheila: That’s why I have to do this. I– I’ve got to seize this moment.

Deacon: Okay. Okay. But you’ve come so far in such a little amount of time. Is it really smart to push so hard, so fast? You’ve taken some steps in the right direction. Steffy and those kids are the most important thing in Finn’s life, not you, and I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true, okay? She’s the love of his life.

Sheila: Yeah. Those are tough cards to be dealt, aren’t they? A mother. We nurture this little being inside of us. We protect it, we feed it, we do everything that we think is best for it. And then we scrutinize what kind of a– a person is this going to be? Who’re they going to grow up to be like? And we pray that they don’t make the same mistakes that we make. I was asked to give my son up long before I ever had the joy of– of bringing him into this world. Now, decades later, I get to– to suffer that– that disappointment that so many mothers do. Where your son falls in love with someone else and loves her more than he loves his own mother, regardless of the nurturing and everything that you did to make sure that they would strive. But it’s a bitter pill to swallow. But I can tell you this: Steffy is never going to come between Finn and me again.

Deacon: Sheila, what– what are you doing? Where are you going?

Ridge: I know Sheila. I know everything about her. It’s– she had the same MO when she was going after my dad, and you’re right. All she wants is to be loved, and man, I wish I felt sorry for her, but I don’t.

Liam: Well, Finn does.

Steffy: I missed your touch.

Finn: I do, um– I have a confession.

Steffy: Okay.

Finn: Yeah, there’s a– a sink full of clothes and take-out boxes under that cutting board.

Steffy: What?

Finn: [ Chuckles ] Well, when you called, I rushed home as fast as I could, and I was trying to clean and– and– and pick up, and I heard your car come, and I just– I– I panicked because I’m– I’m– I’m just– I’m a mess without you, literally. I don’t know.

Steffy: Well, you better not be thinking that I’m going to be cleaning up because that’s going to be on you. I’m just so confused. You’re the one who always loves to clean.

Finn: Well, when we’re together… but apparently when we’re not, it turns back into my med school days.

Steffy: Well, I’m glad I met you after med school.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: But you are going to clean that up, okay?

Finn: Oh yes, of course, of course. I got you.

Steffy: But I have to ask you something a little more serious, and I– I really want the– the truth, okay?

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: Have you had any contact with Sheila while I’ve been at my grandfather’s?

Finn: I have not heard a word from Sheila, Steffy. Zero contact, I promise, okay? And even if I did, I would tell her never to bother me or my family again. I know the threat of Sheila. I’ll never forget what happened to you in that alley, okay? And it kills me that you suffered from the hands of her. Honey, you are– you are everything to me, okay? I would give my life for you. And I meant it before, and I mean it now: I promise I will do everything in my power to keep Sheila away from you and the kids. Believe me.

Steffy: I do. I believe you.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: Oh, my God.

[ Steffy groans ]

Liam: Sheila’s caused so much harm. She’s done so much damage, and yet there’s– it’s like there’s this one holdout, this one guy, Finn, who just isn’t getting the memo.

Ridge: Not his fault Sheila gave birth to him.

Liam: No, it’s not his fault she gave birth to him, but it is his fault for embracing her, for calling her mother, for giving her even the slightest hint that they could have a relationship. Like, what’s he doing?

Ridge: Look, I like the kid.

Liam: I know.

Ridge: I respect him. Did I want my daughter to be married to the spawn of Satan? No, but it happened. And now they’re moving back in together. It’s not what I want, trust me.

Liam: Tell you something? It’s kind of nice to hear you making some of the same noise as I’ve been about this, because, lately, I feel like all of my concerns for the safety of my family are falling on deaf ears, and it’s– like, I– I– I’m not, you know, I haven’t hidden the fact, at least not from you, that I love Steffy. I cherish what we had. Yeah, if I had the chance to resurrect our relationship, of course I would, but that’s not– even if none of that ever happened, you know… I still care about her and– and– and I want to protect her, and especially, I want to protect my daughter. And this is what’s got me so concerned because I think Finn is so blinded by this connection he has to Sheila that… this isn’t going to end well.

Finn: I can’t tell you what this means to me. Having your faith and your belief in me again, and the fact that you’re going to give me a second chance. You leaving, that was… that was hell. I mean, it was way worse than when I was stuck in that hospital bed because this time, it was my own fault. I never should have put you in that position, and I never wanted to let you down.

Steffy: I know, I know that. And I never wanted to take the kids, but I felt like I had to in order to keep them safe.

Finn: I understand. I understand, okay? And I wouldn’t ask you guys to come back here if I didn’t feel like I could protect you.

Steffy: I really do believe you.

Finn: Look, I vow that you will never have to deal with Sheila again.

[ Steffy groans ]

Finn: God, I’ve missed you. I’ve missed… pushing your body up against mine.

Steffy: I missed you, too.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: It’s one of the reasons why I didn’t want to bring the kids home just yet because I felt like we needed a little time to… reconnect. You feel that, too?

Finn: Absolutely.

[ Steffy gasps ]

Finn: Wait, wait, what?

Steffy: What?

Finn: What is it? You okay?

Steffy: Yeah, no, no, it’s nothing. Nothing.

[ Finn moans ]

[ Steffy gasps ]

Finn: Whoa, whoa, whoa, what’s the matter?

Steffy: Sheila. She’s here, she’s here.

Finn: What? Who? What?

Steffy: Sheila’s here! She’s here. Oh, my god.
