[ Gentle music playing ]

Brooke: Honey, I am so thrilled that you started to design, and so is your father. I just don’t want working with Eric to cause tension for your dad and your granddad. I know how you don’t like family drama.

RJ: This is Granddad we’re talking about. This isn’t– there’s no reason my dad should be upset or concerned.

Ridge: Oh, there’s my son. The person I wanted to talk to. I understand you’re working with Granddad.

RJ: Yeah. Well, I mean, I wanted to tell you, but he– he wanted to keep it all between us, so.

Brooke: I don’t think they were trying to keep secrets.

Ridge: I don’t think they were trying to tell me either. There’s only one thing I gotta say to you, son. I am so, so happy you’re designing. Welcome to Forrester. Good luck to you.

[ RJ Laughs ]

Donna: I love seeing you like this, in your element.

Eric: I haven’t felt this fulfilled in a long time. Professionally, I mean. I’m so excited. Putting this line together… doing all this with RJ? It’s wonderful. It’s– it’s really wonderful. Then, of course, having you in my arms is pretty good, too.

Donna: I– I saw Ridge here earlier. Does he share your enthusiasm?

Eric: Well…

[ Knocking on door ]

Eric: It’s open.

Carter: Hey.

Donna: Hi.

Eric: Carter.

Carter: Hi, Donna. Eric, I have the paperwork from the Paris deal. It needs your approval ASAP. You really turned this place into a makeshift studio, huh?

Eric: I wanted some place private to design.

Carter: You’re starting a new collection? Your grand finale?

Hope: I, um… I locked that door, right?

Thomas: Yeah. Yeah, that was right before you took your clothes off in front of me. Yeah, I don’t think this office is ever gonna feel the same again. Is this really happening? I’m just– for a long time, I waited for this.

Hope: Worth the wait?

Thomas: You’re so beautiful. I never knew it could be like this.

Hope: I just… I want to make sure that you understand where my head is at right now.

Thomas: I’m good.

Hope: It’s not love for me yet. I mean, I– I’m not ready and I just, I want to make sure that you understand that.

Thomas: I know.

Hope: It may never be.

Thomas: And I know that, too.

Hope: So, are you really okay with this, then?

Thomas: As long as you’re in my arms, I’m fine.

Donna: So, I guess Brooke told you.

Carter: I ran into her and RJ at the office.

Donna: Well, you know, I could see her being surprised, but there’s really no reason for her to be upset.

Carter: That’s not the impression I was getting. I am curious, though. Why do you feel the need to go off on your own? If this is your final collection, why design it all by yourself?

Eric: I’m not all by myself. I’m doing this with my talented and loyal grandson.

RJ: Dad, I know you’ve been wanting me to design since, like, forever, but you’re– you’re not upset that I’m working with Granddad, right?

Brooke: I was saying to RJ how I don’t want there to be issues because he’s working with your father and not with you… but there’s not gonna be any problems. I mean, you do agree with that, don’t you?

Brooke: Well, I’m gonna go so you can have a chat.

Ridge: You don’t have to leave.

Brooke: I think I should. You need to talk to your son alone, designer-to-designer. Bye, honey.

RJ: Love you, Mom.

Brooke: Love you. Just remember, you both love each other.

Ridge: Bye.

Brooke: Bye.

RJ: Well, Dad, honestly, um, designer-to-designer… I’m not sure I’m ready to carry the title of that yet.

Ridge: Working with your granddad, that won’t take too long.

RJ: I’m learning so much from him. He’s really letting me express my own ideas, too.

Ridge: You couldn’t find a better mentor.

RJ: Wait, so you agree? You think that it’s a good thing that I’m working with Granddad? Right? Because I mean, honestly, I feel lucky that he’s even taking me underneath his wing. It’s great.

Ridge: I agree, and it’s great, and yes, you’re lucky.

Ridge: So, you’re happy for me.

Ridge: I’m happy for you, and I’m happy for me. Following in my footsteps.

RJ:  Just like you followed in Granddad’s.

Ridge: Speaking of Granddad, I’m worried about him.

Carter: Eric. I understand why this collection is so important to you.

Eric: You do?

Carter: I do. But my job is to make sure things run smoothly within our company. Our image as a cohesive family-run organization is as important as the product we put out. Now, control of Forrester Creations and the design talent in your family being passed down from one generation to another, Eric, that’s our huge selling point. That makes us unique.

Eric: And so the older generation is expected to stand aside for the younger generation, and let them take over? I mean, is that what you think? I think that’s probably what Ridge thinks, as well.

Carter: That– that’s not what I think, and I’m sure Ridge is just concerned.

Eric: Concerned about what? About me? About my, uh, about my abilities?

Carter: No, no. No one’s doubting your expertise. That would be foolish. Your career and your accomplishments: they speak for themselves. Starting a new couture line that can be viewed as competing with the one Ridge is producing, Eric… that is risky.

Eric: Do you think I’m afraid of a little risk? Carter, that was the whole beginning of my business– was taking a risk. You didn’t think I had the confidence to take that– that leap of faith? We all choose our own paths, and I trust mine, and you can trust it, too.

Carter: And there’s no way you can work on this project with Ridge?

Eric: Not with Ridge. I’m doing this alone. Ridge and I are going head to head in a competition on the runway.

Thomas: You know, this newfound change in you is, uh, unexpected.

Hope: Hm. Well, I guess I’m just full of surprises then, aren’t I? You know, I just feel like something has lit up inside of me and, you know, it just feels very freeing.

Thomas: Hm. Yeah, I like to be the kind of person that can help you explore this newfound freedom.

Brooke: Sweetie, I have the sample– oh– oh, my god. Hope!

Carter: You and Ridge are competing against each other?

Eric: Yes. Not for the first time, but I think probably for the last.

Donna: Wait– wait a minute. When did this happen? Is this– is this what you and Ridge were talking about earlier when he came over?

Eric: Yes. Yes. I was about to tell you, and that’s when– that’s when Carter came in. Ridge and I are competing. Head to head. It’s a competition on the runway. Winner take all. And the buyers decide who that is.

Donna: Eric, I– I– I completely understand why you’d want to do this. I do, but… do you really want to put this much pressure on yourself?

Carter: Putting pressure on the company? Are you sure you want to go down that road?

Eric: I’ve never been more sure of anything. My collection will prevail.

Ridge: My dad. He’s worked for years and years to build this company. Built all this. You know why?

RJ: Why?

Ridge: So, we can stand on his shoulders.

RJ: But?

Ridge: No but. And.  And now it’s time for him to take a break, to take it easy, not to burn the midnight oil trying to come up with another line, another collection. What does he have to prove?

RJ: Nothing, he just– I feel like he has something to offer, okay? He has a vision. It’s a– it’s a great vision, Dad. Why do you want him to retire so bad?

Ridge: It’s not about him retiring. I want him to be happy. He’s made a mark in this business, a bigger mark than any of us could ever hope to make. Should be enough.

RJ: It’s not enough. Look, I– I know that you care about Granddad. I can see that and that you love him and that you just want what’s best for him. But I’ve– I’ve been spending a lot of time with him recently, and I think there’s a lot more going on there.

Ridge: What does that mean?

RJ: Grandad’s not ready to retire, okay? He’s not even close.

Ridge: I know. I can see that he wants to keep working, but he doesn’t want to work with me. He wants to work with you.

Hope: Gosh, Mom. It’s like you know when I’m with Thomas. We really have to work on your timing.

Brooke: I was looking for you because we have work to do, and I didn’t expect to find you here kissing Thomas and whatever else it was that you were doing.

Hope: Oh, come on, Mom. Like you and Ridge haven’t?

Brooke: This isn’t about me and Ridge. I am concerned because of things that have happened in the past, and I have every right to be concerned. So, why don’t you tell me? Where do things really stand for you and Thomas?

Hope: Mom, I love you and I know that you’re concerned, but we know what we’re doing.

Brooke: Do you?

Hope: Yes.

Brooke: Okay. So, all of a sudden, you’re in love with Thomas.

Hope: No, actually, but Thomas, he knows where I stand. I haven’t made any commitments or promises. We’re on the same page.

Brooke: And how do you feel about this? Oh, I’m sure you’re fine with it, right? I mean, you’ve been after my daughter for years.

Hope: Oh, my gosh, Mom, I’ve made this decision. Me, I want this, and I’ve made the rules and boundaries very clear.

Brooke: What about Liam? What about your family? I know you still love him, and I know you miss him and your life together.

Eric: Donna, was, uh, was Carter any more at ease with all this after you walked him out?

Donna: I’m not really so sure. I mean, he kind of plays things close to the vest.

Eric: Yeah, he does.

Donna: But I will have Katie investigate.

Eric: Good. Good.

Donna: But I do know he wants what’s best for the company and for you.

Eric: Well, any misgivings he has will disappear once he sees the collection.

Donna: I have no doubt.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Back to Ridge. Does he, um… I’m assuming you didn’t tell him about your hands? The tremors?

Eric: No, Donna, absolutely not. There’s no reason for him to know about it and I don’t want him to. The only people that know about this are– are you and me and– and RJ and my doctor. That’s all.

Donna: You know how much I love you, right?

Eric: Yeah, I do. You do a really good job letting me know that. Thank you.

Donna: I’m just so proud of you and I believe in you and what you’re doing here and your– your vision and…

Eric: I’m so excited about all this, and I know, in talking about it, I– I give RJ all this credit and– and it’s all about the ideas coming out of my head and everything. But you, you’re an absolute inspiration to me. You mean so much to me. Never doubt that.

Donna: I’m happy when you’re happy. You know, your enthusiasm is contagious.

Eric: Look at you.

Donna: It’s literally impossible to be around you and not– not get excited for whatever happens next. And I’m just so happy to be here to share it with you.

Eric: You know, I wasn’t lying when I said that you’re my muse. My muse. I mean, look at you. So beautiful. You’re so smart. You’re so smart. You’re funny. And you’re sexy, too. With your inspiration, I can– I can do anything. Whatever Ridge does, let him bring it on, can’t scare me. We’ll win this thing, and then we’ll have time for a martini after, I promise. Okay?

Donna: I love you. I love you so much.

Eric: That’s so good. Okay. Okay.

RJ: I know. I know you have some reservations about Granddad designing, but how do you– how do you feel about me working with him? Are you– are you okay with it? It’s a great opportunity, right?

Ridge: I’m more than okay with it. I love it. And I don’t know if I’ve ever said this to you, but I– I think you have more natural talent than any of us.

RJ: No pressure.

Ridge: No pressure. You know, being a dad, isn’t– it’s not easy. I’m… you always– you want what’s best for your kids. You want them to have a long and happy life, and you want them to choose their path, and I… I didn’t wanna push anyone, and Brooke may disagree. She thinks I pushed you too much to go a certain direction, but it’s because I saw what you could do as a kid when you were– you know, you were drawing stuff, and there was– there was emotion and movement. You can’t teach that. And yes, I wanted you to be a designer, I did, but you found your way here. You did this, into this building that bears your name. And you know, one day when I figure out things with Granddad, and I will, we– it’s gonna be okay. And then you and I, we’re gonna do something. We’re gonna do something magical together.

RJ: I’d be honored, Dad.

Ridge: I’d be honored. There’s something you always gotta remember. Remember how proud I am of you and– and how much I appreciate your talent and how much I love you.

RJ: Thanks, Dad.

Ridge: Come here.
