[ Knocking on door ]

Sally: Hi. I brought coffee and muffins. I figured you’d be exhausted from your trip.

Adam: That is very sweet of you.

Sally: Come here.

Billy: Lily? Hey.

[ Billy sighs ] Hey, lily, it’s billy. Uh, can we meet? I need to talk to you about something very important. Asap. Thanks.

Chelsea: Hey.

Billy: Hi. I thought you were going straight to the office.

Chelsea: Uh, yeah, I was going to, but I just– I need to talk to you, if you have time.

Billy: Yeah, of course. How’s connor?

Chelsea: Things are so much worse for connor than we thought.

[ Chelsea sobs ]

Nate: I haven’t seen aunt mamie that upset in a while, if ever.

Devon: I think she’ll cool down.

Nate: I’m not so sure about that.

Devon: What were we supposed to do? Just let her keep causing issues?

Nate: It had to be said, but by all of us at once? I see how she felt ganged up on.

Lily: I mean, she did seem surprised we weren’t willing to push out jill and billy.

[ Phone pings ]

Devon: Well, I mean, she brought it all onto herself.

Lily: Like, what’s the fallout gonna be? Is she gonna cause more trouble?

Nate: I’m gonna go with yes. She obviously felt betrayed and made it clear she wasn’t gonna take it.

Devon: I think the easiest solution would be to buy her out.

Nate: You heard her. She has no intention of letting go of her investment.

Devon: That’s right. Well, I thought we had to fend off tucker, but it’s the internal threats within chancellor-winters that we have to worry about.

Phyllis: Well, looky here. Shouldn’t you be working on your super important case?

Christine: Ah, shouldn’t you be minding your own business?

Phyllis: I guess you’re drowning yourself in coffee and muffins because danny’s about to hit the road.

Christine: You don’t have to worry about me. I’m getting plenty of cardio these days.

Phyllis: Hm. Slacking off, I see. You know, if I were your client, I’d be mad. I would think I wasn’t getting my money’s worth.

Christine: Well, you couldn’t afford me and…

[ Christine laughs ] …I would never defend you. So, actually, I’m doing exactly what I should be at the moment.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness, so I guess your important case wasn’t really that important after all.

Christine: You’re right about that.

Phyllis: You didn’t really want danny, did you? You just wanted to make sure I didn’t get him.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Christine: As usual, you’re shooting off your mouth without knowing a damn thing.

Phyllis: Oh, I know plenty. I know how to read you. You’re like an open book regarding danny and me.

Christine: Here he is, right on cue.

Danny: Hey.

Christine: Hi.

Danny: Hi. Phyllis, good to see you.

Phyllis: Good to see you, danny. I was afraid I wouldn’t get to say goodbye before you hit the road.

Danny: Yeah, finally hitting the road today.

[ Phyllis laughs ] In fact, I just said my goodbyes to daniel and lucy.

Phyllis: Oh, great, great. Well, I will let you guys say your goodbyes. You know, I bet it’s gonna be exciting going in front of all your adoring fans and washing the stink off of an old flame. Somebody who chose work over romance.

Danny: You didn’t tell her?

Christine: No, she was too busy reading me like an open book.

Phyllis: Tell me what?

Christine: Uh, a little plot twist. I turned down the case. I’m going with danny after all.

Nate: I don’t see aunt mamie as a threat to this company. Mad as she is, she wouldn’t do anything to hurt it. She’s as invested as we are, emotionally and financially. Her whole agenda has been to unite us.

Lily: [ Laughs ] Well, we were united, just not in the way that she hoped.

Nate: Look, aunt mamie doesn’t have the power to cause any corporate instability, even if she wanted to.

Lily: I mean, I feel bad upsetting her, but I think that, you know, we were right telling her to back down.

Nate: She came back to town guns blazing. Not just ready for a fight, but trying to pick one.

Devon: And?

Nate: And even though she’s on our side, she never really tried to work with you two. And I’ve tried to tell her that, over and over.

Devon: Yeah, she just came into town trying to call all the shots without ever getting our buy-in.

Lily: I think we were right to tell her that we all feel like she’s overstepped.

Devon: There is one thing that she said that I agree with, and that’s that we need to figure out how to get billy out of the company.

Sally: Talk to me. What happened?

Adam: The doctors at the residence are still trying to find the right medications for connor.

Sally: He has to be on more than one?

Adam: I don’t know. They’re– they’re not sure. You know, it’s trial and error. As they explained it, uh, they have to see how he responds. There could be side effects. You know, sometimes they augment drugs that they think could be helping, and then they have to take family history into account.

Sally: Sounds really scary. For connor and for you and chelsea.

Adam: Yeah, and it could be months before they know if it’s working. In the meantime, the drugs that he’s on are messing with his sleep. You know, there’s just so much at play, there’s so much that we didn’t understand. We were right there. We were so close. And we didn’t even get to see connor at all.

Chelsea: The doctor said connor is tired and groggy because of his new medication. It’s affecting his therapy sessions. He can’t concentrate.

Billy: It’s slowing down his progress.

Chelsea: His ocd is raging, billy. He’s not getting better. He’s getting worse.

Billy: Okay. Is that why they said that it’s not a good idea to see him?

Chelsea: They’re trying to understand the psychology of what’s causing these intrusive thoughts and then hoping that the medication will reduce them.

Billy: Yeah, I’m sure that’s a delicate balance.

Chelsea: Everybody keeps saying that. But if he’s this upset– we can’t even be in the same room with him. We can’t hug him, tell him that we love him. I mean, where is the stability they’re talking about?

Billy: It’s– it’s gonna come, okay? It’s gonna come. It didn’t get this bad overnight. It’s gonna take some time to– to work it out.

Chelsea: We are part of the problem. Adam and me. To know my son is in this much pain… that he would be worse if we’re with him?

Adam: The main reason why they couldn’t take the risk is because… connor started punishing himself.

Sally: Blaming himself for the thoughts?

Adam: Physically. He started punching his legs.

Chelsea: They said he has bruises… on his thighs.

[ Chelsea crying ]

Billy: Chelsea. I’m so sorry.

Chelsea: He’s in so much pain. So much pain. I mean, when is it gonna end? Is my son gonna be suffering every day for the rest of his life? Depression is a journey.

Lily: Look, I’m sorry, but I don’t think that ousting billy is the right move.

Devon: I bet you don’T. Why are you so loyal to that guy?

Lily: It’s not loyalty. But if we go after billy, jill’s gonna feel like we’re coming after her. And that’s gonna start a war.

Devon: So you really think that he’s more dangerous to us outside the company than inside?

Lily: Why do you always look at him like a threat in all the ways that he can hurt us? I mean, think about how he can help us. I know that you hate admitting this, but he actually has some good ideas.

Devon: Yeah, like putting his name on the side of the building. That was an awesome idea. How do you not see that the guy is just after more control and more power in the company?

Lily: Okay, you know, I don’t wanna talk about this right now. Billy actually texted me and said it’s urgent, so I have to go find him.

Nate: Just the two of you? No devon? What’s that about?

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: I don’t know, nate. I’ll find out when I go talk to him.

Devon: Huh. Well, that sounds like divide and conquer to me. I’m sure whatever it is, it’s not good.

Adam: I feel so powerless.

Sally: I get it. And maybe you can’t cure him, but you and chelsea are doing everything you can. He’s in a great place with leading experts on this. They will be able to help him. You have to trust that.

Chelsea: The doctors say if he continues like this… hurting himself, they’ll have to send him to this thing called “inpatient.”

Billy: But he’s in a residential facility already.

Chelsea: Well, they isolate him for weeks so they can watch him more closely. It’s– it’s what they do in cases of– of self-harm.

[ Billy sighs ]

Billy: Okay, look, well, um, it sounds like they’re on top of it. Okay, and– and I can only imagine how difficult it is for you, but there’s a treatment plan, so hopefully the medication kicks in and hopefully he stops hurting himself.

Chelsea: What if he doesn’t, billy?

Billy: I–

Chelsea: And they send him to this inpatient facility. His ocd doctor isn’t allowed to treat him there. So, he will be more alone and he will be more terrified. How does that help?

Adam: All of the advances that he has made so far… could backslide.

Sally: Hey, your job as his dad right now is not to jump to worst-case scenarios. Just try and remain positive.

[ Adam laughs ]

Adam: How can I do that? The doctors are already prepping us for this.

Sally: Does connor know what could happen?

Adam: No. No, not yet. But I already know if it comes to this, it’s just gonna make him feel even worse. I just– I know it. He already feels embarrassed and ashamed. They say he’s always trying to cover ’em up. He doesn’t want anyone to know what he’s doing to himself.

Sally: My heart breaks for him.

Adam: Yeah, and he told the therapist that he feels guilty that we have to pay for him to be there. As if that should even be a concern at all. He’s just– he’s terrified that he’s not gonna be able to fix what’s wrong with him. That’s how he puts this. As if he’s broken.

Billy: The doctors given you any sign of hope?

Chelsea: Just that they’re starting to get into the– the main manifestation of connor’s trauma.

Billy: Which is?

Chelsea: Basically that he has no self-worth. That he– he thinks he’s a burden on everybody else. I mean, how can he think that?

Billy: That’s the ocd talking. That’s not connor.

Chelsea: No, that is connor. Those are connor’s thoughts. Deep down. Haunting him.

Lily: Hey, I got your text. Oh, sorry, am I interrupting?

Chelsea: I’m sorry, I interrupted billy’s work day.

Billy: No, no, there’s no need to apologize. We can go somewhere else and keep talking.

Chelsea: Uh, that’s okay, I– I need to get to marchetti to approve some designs. Sorry.

Lily: Um, billy, uh, told me that you went to see connor, and I hope his treatment’s going well. I’ve– I’ve been thinking about him.

Chelsea: I appreciate that.

Lily: Yeah.

Billy: You sure you don’t wanna go get a coffee, anything?

Chelsea: No, I’ll be okay.

Billy: Sure.

Chelsea: I’ll see you later.

Lily: Are you sure you don’t wanna go with her? ‘Cause I’m sure what she’s feeling is more important than what you wanted to talk about.

Billy: Um, actually I think work would be a good distraction for her. And what I need to tell you can’t wait.

Phyllis: You’re going on tour with him.

Christine: It’s like you said, sometimes you have to put aside work for the people you love.

Phyllis: No, you didn’t put aside any work. The clients dumped you.

Danny: Uh, phyllis, I, uh, I would really love to go on tour, you know, on a good note. Right? You’ve come a long way. And I– I’ve seen the change. I’ve witnessed it.

Phyllis: I know you have. You see me, danny.

Danny: Yeah, and I’d like to go on tour with that phyllis in mind.

Phyllis: Is this for real?

Danny: It’s real. We’ve had more than one long talk about our lives, our dreams, our futures.

Christine: Our passions.

Danny: Yeah.

Christine: All night long, into the morning.

Danny: Some of the best and most important discussions of my life.

Christine: But our night was about so much more than just talking.

Sally: I wish I could take your pain away. And connor’S.

Adam: So do I. But I’m finally starting to get there is no easy fix. And the doctors keep saying it’s a long process. He’s gonna have to manage this for the rest of his life, and I just– I hate that. But the sooner that I can accept it, the more I can be there for him.

Sally: Sounds incredibly wise.

[ Knocking on door ]

Chelsea: Hey, sorry, I should’ve called, but I was on my way to work, and I– I just– I don’t know, I couldn’t face it. Oh. Hi, sally. You know what? I’ll just call you later.

Adam: No, you know what? Just stay.

Sally: I was just leaving.

Adam: It’s okay.

Sally: I’m so sorry for what connor’s going through.

Chelsea: Me too.

Sally: You two are doing amazing. I know it doesn’t feel like it, but you really are navigating this whole thing with a lot of courage. I know you’ll get connor through this. I will check in after my meeting.

Adam: All right.

Sally: Okay.

Adam: Sounds good.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: I’m a mess. Anyone says anything nice to me lately, I just– I just burst into tears.

Adam: Yeah, I get the feeling.

Chelsea: I’m sorry. I’m sorry to just, like, bust– bust in here like that.

Adam: Look, I– I– I’m glad that you came.

Chelsea: What sally said, I don’t feel brave. I feel just the opposite. You know, billy tried to give me a similar pep talk earlier.

[ Adam scoffs ]

Adam: It’s excruciating.

Chelsea: Yeah. Yeah, it is. It just makes it worse because it’s obvious I’m falling apart when I should be keeping it together.

Adam: I know. We’re supposed to be seeing the big picture and staying positive for connor’s sake and believe he’s in the right place.

Chelsea: When really, I justwanna ream or crawl into bed and just cry.

Adam: Yeah, and I hate that I keep dumping it all on her. And I resent the words of encouragement because in my head it’s all lies, but that’s on me. That’s not on her.

Chelsea: I do nothing except cry to billy lately. I’m sure he’s run out of things to say to me. I mean, when does it get to be too much?

Adam: And I know that this is killing her. Not knowing how to help. The truth is we are the only ones who know exactly what we are going through. We have to talk to each other.

Chelsea: But we didn’T. We didn’t talk to each other the entire way back from maryland. You were silent. So, I’m– I’m here because I wanna ask. Do you blame me for all this?

Devon: I do not like this one bit, man. I wanna know what the hell billy’s up to.

Nate: Asking to see lily alone, it does back up your suspicion he’s trying to work her in some way.

Devon: Yeah. Maybe he heard about what happened with mamie, and he’s trying to figure out how to work that situation to his advantage.

Nate: How would he be able to do that? He hasn’t exactly been on aunt mamie’s side. He even told her that he agreed with jill, that they see her as trouble. And aunt mamie wouldn’t buy it if he suddenly tried to align himself with her.

Devon: Maybe not. I don’t know, I just wouldn’t put it past the guy to work any situation to his advantage. That’s what he does.

Nate: Maybe part of what aunt mamie’s saying was right. That there’s a level of paranoia that’s starting to infiltrate our thinking. And it’s doing more damage to us than billy can.

Lily: Is this personal or about work?

Billy: Work, mostly. But, you know, maybe a little bit personal. But everything is around here.

Lily: Yeah, family business comes with the territory.

Billy: Yeah. Didn’t mean to make light of it, because it is serious. Um, look, I wanted to tell you this first before I break the news to everyone else because I feel like I owe this to you.

Lily: Why do I feel like I’m not gonna like this?

Billy: Well, I hope you do. Because we’re gonna have to live with it. Jill made a very major decision. She has decided to step away. And she’s handing all of her decision-making power to me. I told myself I was ok

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Billy: Well, I know you heard me, so you should probably say something.

Lily: I’m– I’m shocked. I mean, I– I didn’t know that jill was even thinking about something like this.

Billy: Neither did I.

Lily: Really? Are you sure about that? That’s not why you were trying to convince me to do a joint power grab with you?

Billy: Trust me, lily, I didn’t know this was coming, okay? I was just as surprised as everyone is going to be when they hear the news.

Lily: Okay, so, sorry. That– that’s it? She’s– she’s gone?

Billy: Well, I mean, it’s jill, right? She’s never going to really be gone forever, but she did hand the reins over to me. Of course, she’s going to keep her board seat.

Lily: And did she say why?

Billy: She did. She said it’s time for me to shine.

Lily: “It’s time for you to shine.”

Billy: I’m glad you find that funny.

Lily: I mean, this is– I– this is very, very suspicious.

Billy: Really? You think I’d make something like this up? You think I would lie about something like this, lily?

Lily: Billy, I don’t know. This is weird, right? It’s weird, why wouldn’t jill tell devon and me directly?

Billy: I don’t know.

Lily: I mean, this feels a lot like when mamie came to town with all of her secrets and the games that she was playing. I didn’t like it then, and I definitely don’t like it now.

Devon: Do you think I’m being paranoid to be suspicious of billy’s motives?

Nate: I’m not saying we shouldn’t keep an eye on billy, but now you’re all so worried about aunt mamie.

Devon: Well, we all are.

Nate: Yeah, and just a few days ago you were doubting lily, reading into her glances with billy. Upset that she voted against her and stating me on the board, thinking you were losing control of the company because she wasn’t necessarily agreeing with you.

Devon: Right, okay, I– listen, I get that you don’t mind that she voted against you, and you don’t think I should ever go against my sister. You’ve made that clear.

Nate: I’m just saying you spend an awful lot of time spinning conspiracy theories about internal threats. And I admit, I am guilty of that as well. I am not innocent here. But what if we put that energy towards building bridges instead of blowing them up?

Devon: Yeah, I mean, sure, I can admit that maybe I’ve gotten caught up in corporate politics.

Nate: Yeah, thank you. Thank you for admitting that.

Devon: For sure, yeah. I might be, you know, seeing threats that aren’t really there, or I’m exaggerating ones that are. Either way, though, I really would like to know what kind of bomb billy’s about to drop right now.

Nate: You and me both.

Devon: ‘Cause I doubt it’s about building bridges. So, why don’t we go stand side-by-side with lily, and hear what it is?

Adam: I– I don’t blame you for any of this. And I’m trying like hell not to blame myself either.

Chelsea: Well, the doctors tell us not to, but–

Adam: I’m– I’m doing my best to listen, okay? And I hope you are too. This is exhausting enough without us beating ourselves up. Oh, god, I’m sorry, I’m– that was a terrible choice of words, okay?

Chelsea: It– it used to just be a figure of speech.

Adam: I just don’t understand how this is happening. I don’t understand how connor is literally beating himself up.

Chelsea: His little hands– his little hands, they used to wrap around my– my fingers when he was a baby. The– the hands that we would hold while we’d help him cross the street. How can he be using those hands to hurt himself? And how is this not our fault?

Adam: Chelsea. Look, we can’t keep going there. I know it’s hard not to do that, but we– we can’t keep asking, “why connor? Why our son?” Blame is not going to get us any closer to figuring out how to help him.

Chloe: Well, I got your favorite, but you probably want to get a new one. It’s definitely cold.

Sally: Is that your way of saying I’m late?

Chloe: Well, look, I don’t blame you for wanting to put this off because you are busted. I found you out.

Sally: What are you talking about?

Chloe: I know that you have been paying our business bills from your personal account. Don’t deny it.

Sally: I had to. Do you want our company to flatline?

Chloe: We’re not there yet.

Sally: Our account will be tapped out by the end of the month. And look, I’m trying to buy us some time, so that we can survive, at least on paper, for a little bit longer. Maybe give us some time to find a solution.

Chloe: Look, I’m– I’m not angry. At all. I mean, I’m touched. But, you know, that is a really big sacrifice, investing your own money. So, this is going to be a loan. One that will be paid back.

Sally: I’m fine with that. I’m not looking to be broke and a failure. So… how do we find financing to save our firm?

[ Chloe sighs ]

Chloe: I don’t believe I’m going to say this, um… maybe adam’s idea is our best and last shot. Joining newman enterprises.

Sally: So, now you see the logic.

Chloe: Well, desperation brings clarity.

[ Sally laughs ]

Sally: It– it doesn’t matter. Victor shot it down, and he doesn’t seem to have reconsidered.

Chloe: Well, maybe we find a way to change his mind.

So tell me about

your heart attack.

Christine: After our amazing, earth-moving night together, I realized there was no other choice, and danny was so sweet. He kept asking me over and over again if I was sure. But I have never been more certain. There will be other cases, and I just didn’t want to lose out on our romantic momentum.

Phyllis: Seriously? You want to be a groupie?

Danny: Oh, come on, phyllis.

Phyllis: No, I mean, who’s gonna– who’s gonna know that you’re a hot shot lawyer? And you’re a do-gooder. Who’s going to know that?

Christine: I’ve been doing plenty of good for danny.

Phyllis: This is just a slap in the face for me. You know that I’m more than willing to show up for danny. And you’re trying to block me from doing that.

Christine: Phyllis. Me going with him has nothing to do with you. This is about us falling back in love.

Billy: Look, I don’t know why my mother does the things that she does, okay? But if you don’t trust me, why don’t you get on the phone, and call her yourself, all right? Might be a little bit hard to get a hold of her because she’s on a plane going to live her life.

Lily: Oh, that’s convenient.

Billy: Lily, do you really think I’m that stupid to try and make a move like this on you and my mother? I mean, what do I have to gain from that? In fact, I have everything to lose. Look, I get it, it’s a shock. But honestly, I’m not giving up on this opportunity. Especially when I believe that this company’s heading in the wrong direction with all the warmongering from devon and mamie.

Lily: Okay, please don’t go there right now.

Billy: Fine, not the best time to go there, because this news is going to be enough to process with everyone, and I get it, okay? Your brother, he’s not going to be happy about this.

Lily: I cannot believe that jill would make a decision like this without even discussing it with me first.

Billy: She should have, okay? But she didn’t, and we’re here now.

Devon: Hello. I mean, I assumed that me not being invited was an oversight. So, what’s going on?

Lily: Well, you might want to sit down, because um, it’s a shocker.

Chloe: There’s one way it could work. We enlist adam. Oh, my mouth even hurts just from saying the words.

Sally: Absolutely not. Adam is going through hell right now and I’m not about to pull him into our problems.

Chloe: Yeah, I know, chelsea told me about the troubles they’re having with connor. It’s terrible. But, I mean, it was adam’s idea. I mean, he may be up for the challenge. Maybe it would be a good distraction for him.

Sally: Not going to happen.

Chloe: Okay, so what about nick? He thought it was a great business move, and he could help us with victor.

Sally: That is the desperation talking.

Chloe: Okay, well, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m giving you all the solutions and you just keep on shooting them down.

Sally: You know what? Maybe this was a mistake.

Chloe: Wait, what do you mean? That we should just give up? That our partnership is over?

Chelsea: You’re right. We need a plan. A new one. Knowing connor thinks all of this is happening because he thinks he’s worthless, and not being able to tell him that’s not true because it’s not healthy for us to be in the same room with him right now. We have to figure this out.

Adam: Look, when I said that we need to get closer to finding an answer, I didn’t mean you and me. Okay, as much as I– I hate to say this, I don’t think that we are the people who can find that answer. We have to leave it to the people with the experience and the education in this.

Chelsea: Are you giving up?

Adam: No, I’m– I’m giving in to reality. Okay, our knee-jerk reactions and our parental instincts are not helping him. They might be making it worse.

Chelsea: So, it is our fault.

Adam: No, we are reacting the way any parent would, the way a parent does. Doctors have told us that. You know, they’re not surprised they have parents questioning their techniques all the time, because we want to help our son. You know, and I’m more guilty than you are. I mean, I’m the one who’s flown off the handle, and I wanted to yank him out of there.

Chelsea: Maybe you were right. Maybe he needs a new care team, a new facility.

Adam: No, chelsea, you were right. You’ve been right. Okay, you were the one that talked me down. You told me, “trust the process.” Well, I finally see it. Or I finally admit that I don’t know how to fix this, so we have to have faith in the doctors, and we just– we have to get the hell out of their way.

Chelsea: I know in my heart you’re right. Because I had to accept the same things, and trust that my doctors were going to help me.

Adam: Well, seeing connor go through this, it’s– it’s given me a better understanding of your struggle. And now I realize how much you had suffered before you got well.

Chelsea: That’s why I just want to take my son’s pain away. Because I’ve lived it. I can’t watch our son suffer anymore, adam. I really can’T.

Adam: I know.

[ Adam sniffles ] I’m jonathan lawson,

Phyllis: What? You’ve fallen back in love? Okay, I just, um– ah, great, I– I think I lost my appetite.

Christine: Are you sure you don’t want a muffin? You look a little pale.

Phyllis: No, trust me, I may never eat again.

Danny: Well, hey, um, you take care, phyllis.

Phyllis: Yeah, you take care. Listen, I’ll look after our son. I– I’ll try to stop him from making tremendous mistakes, unlike his father.

Danny: Oh, come on, please.

Phyllis: Really, no, no, it’s fine, it’s fine, at least, I know I’m not going to run into cricket any time soon. So, um, have a good tour. Have fun, um, what do you say? Break a leg. Ugh.

[ Danny sighs ]

Danny: Wow, I’m, uh– I’m really sorry about that. You know, obviously she doesn’t know you’re not supposed to say “break a leg” for a rock tour. That’s more of a broadway thing.

Christine: Okay, well, of course she knows. But, like, I don’t even care. Because nothing can spoil my excitement.

Danny: She is right about one thing, though, you know. Being on the road can be tough.

Christine: I am here for it. Our next adventure. On the road. And back. In love.

[ Danny sighs ]

Danny: Yeah. To the start of our next chapter together, my love.

Sally: No, you goof. Our partnership is not a mistake.

Chloe: Oh, okay. Well, thank you, geez.

Sally: I– I meant, maybe we made a mistake stepping outside our comfort zone. We know fashion. We’re great at it. Maybe we shouldn’t have drifted too far from our calling.

Chloe: Okay, wait a minute. Are you saying that we abandon our interior design business, and go back to fashion? Again? And– and with what capital? I mean, you’ve been dipping into your piggy bank. And what is nick going to think about losing his investment?

Sally: I– I don’t know, okay? I don’t have all the answers, I’m just starting to think about it.

Chloe: Okay, well, we’re running out of time, I mean, you said it yourself.

Sally: Yeah, which is exactly why we have to make a move fast or nick will lose his investment for sure, and we will be out of a job, so, we have to be proactive and we do not need nick or victor or adam to do it, okay? We are smart, we are experienced and we are creative. We can dig ourselves out of this hole on our own, okay? Are you with me?

Chloe: A hundred percent. But we are going to need damn big shovels.

[ Sally chuckles ]

[ Chelsea sighs ]

Chelsea: Sorry. Sorry, I lost it. I seem to be doing that a lot lately.

Adam: Well, your way of losing it is a lot better than mine. It’s a lot less destructive.

Chelsea: Yeah, I was actually impressed you really held it together when our visit fell apart. I was– I was expecting you to run past those doctors, find connor, and make a run for it.

Adam: Well, I may have checked the exits, and looked for a way to dodge security, you know?

Chelsea: Well, who knew? You were the calm one.

Adam: A rare occurrence. I really do mean it, though. We have to trust the doctors. Pulling connor out now would mean we would have to start all over, and that’s not fair to him. And I don’t think we could take it as a family. The only real option is forward.

Devon: So this is not a joke. That’s what you’re saying. Jill’s out, billy’s in, no one discussed it with her partners?

Billy: That about sums it up.

Devon: Is this another one of your power plays, billy?

Lily: Okay, let’s not make accusations until we talk to jill.

Devon: Well, apparently that’s impossible to do because she’s unreachable and traveling the world, right?

Billy: I get it, okay? I was just as surprised as you are. But it’s happening, so we’re just gonna have to make it work.

Devon: No, we don’t have to do anything, actually, until we speak to your mom. We’re not just gonna let you get away with this.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Continued any further without them seeing each other for who they ar that we have avorite vintage. Enjoy. Hey, so, I need to let the chef know that we have a party of six coming in, and they’re celebrating their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. Okay. So I want to have some white-chocolate mousse sent out to them with some raspberry coulis, compliments of the hotel. Fantastic. I’ll let them know. Great. Oh. And somebody’s here to see you. Thank you. Commissioner. Can I get you a table? Oh, no. Thank you. I don’t need a reservation. Need some answers. Could you explain to me why you went to visit jack brennan in pentonville? Hey, michael. Michael: Hey. Did you have dinner? I can heat something up for you. I’m just scoping out recipes. No, no, you’re fine. I grabbed something to eat when I got home from work. You take a break. You’ve earned it. Your cooking is getting rave reviews from the adults and kids alike, and you know how hard the kids are to please, so… well, in this case, it’s the adults that have me digging through recipes. Well, I have not heard any complaints from them. So you’re doing great. Well, if they’re happy, I’m happy. They are thrilled.

[ Laughs ] Not only is olivia less stressed, but we’re getting regular meals, and we still have access to our own kitchen, so you are the perfect cook. Well, I am very glad that someone thinks so. You know, I am, um — I am a little surprised that you did take the job, though. Yeah? Why? ‘Cause I used to be a glamorous spokesmodel? Uh, ’cause, um… well, because of you and me. Nice ride, tracy. You have a great seat. Anyone ever told you that?

[ Horse neighs ] Not in a while. That is a great saddle. Thank you for letting me try it. Yeah, no problem. Expecting someone? Yeah, I thought I was, but now I think I’m getting stood up. Who would do that to you? Tracy! Sorry I’m late. Stella: Ah!

[ Laughs ]

[ Laughs ] Go ahead. Thanks. You just worked a full shift at G.H. Are you sure you don’t want to just soak in a hot bath, order in, watch one of your favorite shows? Don’t try to back out of our movie date with a sweet attempt to find something else for me to do. You can’t stay cooped up in this gallery all day surrounded by… nice style. Different style of art. Well, that’s called the “ode to duchamp.” Yeah. Mm-hmm. I know art is subjective and expensive. That’s how ava stays in business.

[ Chuckles ] You know, your great-grandmother, she used to say, “a fool and his money are soon parted.” ‘Cause our father was always coming home with these get-rich-quick schemes. I’ll tell you about ’em someday.

[ Chuckles ] Well, I can’t wait. And… I just want to say… I know what you’re doing. And I want to let you know… that it’s working. Are you sure about this? I don’t know. I — maybe this is a mistake. You know, the last few times that willow and i have been together, we’ve actually parted ways without things deteriorating. I don’t know. I don’t want to push it. I really don’T. And I don’t want willow to think that we’re handling her in a certain way. Would you calm down and stick to the program?

[ Sighs ] I’m your boss. I called you in to talk about crimson. Don’t worry about it. I got everything else handled. Drew, this psa copy looks great. I hope I can do it…justice. Nina. Hi, willow. What are you doing here?

Were just wrappingup some crimson business. Did I answer all your questions about the new accounting system? Hm! Okay. Good. I’ll make sure I speak to the software engineers and I express the rest of your concerns, okay? Thank you. Thank you, drew. Uh, lots of changes since I’ve been back. Absolutely. Sure is. And my door is always open. You guys can wrap up. I can step outside and go over this copy. No! No, no, no. Stay. Stay. Um, willow is prepping for her very first psa for the new tomorrow institute. Yes! That is really, really great! I-I’m so proud of aurora for supporting such a worthy cause… and you for being the spokesperson.

[ Chuckles ] Okay. Well… I’ll leave you to it. Hey. Hold on a second. I just had a brilliant idea. Would you mind sitting in? What do you mean, you know what I’m doing? You act like I have some ulterior motive for trying to spend time with you. Well, don’t you? The last time we went on a coffee date, you were worried about how I was handling losing spencer. And I took your advice. And I tried to do something meaningful that helped me get closure. Did it help? A bit. But I’m no closer to knowing what to do with myself. I know, honey. I do see you trying and I see you struggling. I just wish I could wave a magic wand and take all the hurt away. Me too. Josslyn is your great friend. And keeping yourself busy here at the gallery. But sometimes you just need a hug and a shoulder to lean on him and… so here I am, baby. Thank you.

[ Chuckles ] Okay, we got to keep going, right? Yeah. 15 grand, huh? Yeah. A-ha! No accounting for taste. Aunt stella!

[ Stella and trina laughing ] Hello, ladies. Hey, jordan. Hey, jordan. Hey. I am really glad to see you both so happy. But I’m sorry to say I am about to be a buzzkill. So this is an interrogation? Well, I’m just curious as to why you would visit your attempted abductor in prison. So I have to check my comings and goings with the pcpd? Maybe, when you’re talking to the former head of the wsb… and pikeman security group. Has that been confirmed? Brennan was head of pikeman? Working theory. I’ve answered your question. Now you answer mine. You know, last time you came knocking on my door with the third degree, you and agent cates accused me of harboring a criminal. Don’t you have better things to do with your time? I do. I have to run a hotel. Okay, so, the fact that jason slipped out of your house doesn’t mean that he wasn’t there. You’re deliberately not answering my question. Why is that? How do you know I went to pentonville? Well, brennan may be sequestered, awaiting trial, but he is still considered a dangerous man. He has a lot of eyes on him. Especially the fbi’s? I was beginning to think I had been stood up. Well, since you asked yuri to drive me, I could hardly “ghost you,” as violet would say.

[ Chuckles ] And it was such a lovely evening, I asked him to take the route around the lake, and the sunset was breathtaking. So I asked him to stop, and h-he found a nice spot and pulled over and… piped tchaikovsky into the back seat. And I just soaked in the music and the splendor and got lost in it. I think we both did. I’m sorry I missed it. Uh, I am, too. You would have enjoyed it. And I would have enjoyed it more with you. Well, I-I did get to see some of the sunset on my ride. And you’re so right. It really was lovely.

[ Chuckles ] You know, gregory, I-I bet we could convince tracy to hop back on her horse. Two of you could finish that sunset together. What do you say? Want to trade out your cane for a saddle? Maybe next time.

T-that’s an interesting assumption. The fbi. Yeah. If this is your way of trying to figure out what I know, let me save you some time. John cates was asking jason about a connection between sonny, brennan, and pikeman, but brennan didn’t seem to know anything about it. So you told brennan, then? That agent cates was on his case? Like, specifically. Yeah, it’s not like it’s some deep dark secret. Yes, carly! It was! Didn’t you learn first-hand how law enforcement works when you were married to the mob?! I’m sure nina has more important things to do than listen to me practice my psa. Well, like I said, I’ll let you two get to work. Well, j-just hold on one second. Are you sure, willow? I mean… nina listens to pitches and ad campaigns just about every day. It’d be a shame not to take advantage of her expertise. Someone with so much media and promotion experience. J-just figure she might see something that I could miss. Unless you’re not comfortable. I — well, I’m not sure I’ll ever be comfortable with being a public figure, but it is important and I agreed to do it. But nina has a magazine to run. I’m just suggesting it because this is your first psa, and we really want to knock it out of the part. But, of course… it’s completely up to you. You know what happened the first time I rode a merry-go-round? I fell off.

[ Chuckles ] Stop trying to make me feel better, cowboy. No, no. It’s — it’s a true story. I was, uh — I was a little younger than leo. I was probably 8 or 9. I was trying to impress a very cute girl. Hard to believe. And she kept looking at this brass ring that was at the top of the pole. So I-I climbed up on t-the carousel pony and I stretched out my little body as far as it would go, and I just kept reaching for that brass ring. And then I fell — flat on my face. Don’t know how I didn’t break my nose, but I got eight stitches in my head. Too bad it didn’t knock some sense into you. Wait, wait. W-what about the girl? The next day, she sat next to me on the school bus.

[Chuckling] Ohh! And? The moral is? Reach for that brass ring. You may fall flat on your face, but… ya never know. He’s well-meaning. Yeah. I wish everyone treated me so kindly or gave me such good advice. Sasha: I don’t know, michael. Given your family’s history with relationships, I’m pretty sure the fact that you and i used to be a couple barely even registers on their radar. Maybe you’re just disappointed that I never used to cook like this for you. I’m a little disappointed, yeah.

[ Chuckles ] No, it’s just — I, uh — I’m just sorry that you even had to take this position. I never thought you would’ve walked away from deception. I mean, I could have negotiated, like, a golden parachute or something. I just hate that you left all that stock on the table and now you’re here cooking for my crazy, mixed-up family. Please. Take that off your mind. I wanted to walk away. And, yes, selling all my shares was a big…gulp. Sure. But… it was a loss that I was willing to take for my peace of mind. And gladys already took all my money, so it’s not like I didn’t have any practice. You know, sasha, you don’t have to do that with me, you know, pretend that you’re — you’re okay. I’m not pretending. It was time for me to go, michael. I’ve made peace with my decision, and, honestly, I haven’t even looked back. When olivia offered me this job, I jumped at it. I-I had other options, but none that I liked. Okay. You know, maybe if you would have given your job search a little more time, I-I would have lent you the money to tide you over. I’m sure sonny would have, too. I really appreciate the gesture, michael. But, first, I would not have taken it. And, second, there’s no need. I like it here. You know, I-I don’t know if you remember, but I always used to say that I longed to be part of a family… after growing up without one. So now I get to cook for your “crazy, mixed-up family.” I get to practice my cooking and stay in a home with people I know and trust. Trust? I wouldn’t — I wouldn’t go that far.

[ Laughs ] But, I mean, maybe… I should have asked you before I said yes. I mean, I-I never even talked to willow about it. I really hope that I have not made things awkward between the two of you, have I?

I didn’t even think to ask willow how she might feel about me moving in here. We used to be so close, and then with everything that has happened to both of us, we’ve lost touch. And then after she had amelia and I showed up at the gatehouse hopped up on pills, she’s probably worried about having me around the kids. No, no. Hey. Sasha, that is not the case at all. We know what the situation was. Y-you were sabotaged. We trust you. Thank you. As far as us and our — our history… yeah, we shared a lot of memories, but we’re good, though, right? I mean… unless you’re saying it’s awkward for you. No. No. I-I really like being here. Good. Because the quartermaines, who rarely agree on anything, agree on you. Especially the kids, ’cause they love your beignets. I’m so glad. And, honestly, michael, this is not a step down for me. I really love cooking for your family. I… I’ve found it really… nurturing and grounding. I like seeing how happy people are when they eat my food, knowing that I’m contributing to their well-being. And I really love seeing how happy you are with willow. You guys are really inspirational. The love and the commitment that you share.

[ Door opens ] I, um — I used to have that once, so… maybe I will again. Have what? I don’t know if there will be an actual motion to reopen heather’s case, but I wanted to let you know what was brewing.

[ Scoffs ] This is preposterous! I’ve lost count of that woman’s victims! And she almost made trina one of them! What is there to revisit, jordan? How could this even be considered?! Well, it’s been discovered that heather was slowly being poisoned by an artificial hip implant decades ago with neurotoxic results. Wait. What? They think her artificial hip made her crazy? I-I read about this. A-and I did some digging. Some people who were poisoned by heavy metals have been affected mentally w-with anxiety, depression, cognitive dysfunction, bipolarity, even schizophrenia. But even if that were the case, heather is a brutal killer. Surely, this can’t erase her actual crimes! No, but some people think it can help explain them. “Some people”? Who? Who would even advocate for heather webber?! Well, you’re gonna find out anyways. My boss has raised the question. Spencer’s grandmother? Blood cancers once considered fatal can now be cured… if only people knew where to look for help. I should know since a marrow donor saved my life. That’s why the new tomorrow institute was created — to help people like you and me. Willow , that was so good, especially for your first try! Thanks, drew. Uh, nina? Anything to add? You come across very sincere and authentic. But? No. [ Chuckles ] I don’t — I don’t want to make you feel self-conscious. No, what you’re doing is — is spot-on. Nina, it’s okay. I… I’d like to hear what you have to say. Okay. Willow, you’re living proof that cancer doesn’t need to be a death sentence. You are the success story. You’re the example that people can aspire to. You came through a harrowing ordeal, and now you have a wonderful, healthy, happy, fulfilling life. Show that. Show the people that are dealing with cancer and their families that they not only stand to survive, but, like you, to thrive. So, in other words… totally okay to smile a little.

[ Both laugh ] Noted. Anything else? You got this. I’m gonna go back to my office. Nina. Thank you. Any time.

[ Door closes ]

[ Exhales sharply ] Why on earth would you think it was a good idea to tell brennan that he and pikeman were subjects of an fbi investigation?! Because I wanted to know how he’d react. Why? Are you running an investigation of your own? From the minute I laid eyes on brennan. Oh, he hasn’t asked you to call him “jack” yet? No. He told me he was in the “security business.” And I took that to mean he was ex-intelligence or ex-military. I thought he was going after sonny, then I realized he was working with that guy hume. And when I heard the name pikeman in connection with brennan, it’s not a far stretch to think the fbi had their sights on him. Okay. God. Don’t know why I’m telling you this. Okay. Listen. The fbi didn’t realize that the former director of the wsb was involved with pikeman, maybe even running it, because he had managed to conceal his involvement. And that is why he came after me. But did brennan come after you? Well, yes. I thought that was hume. Did jack brennan come anywhere near you? How did he find out about john cates? You know, ’cause brennan was already in prison when he came to town. Did he tell you that or did… did you tell him? I may have mentioned it. Okay. So you blithely confirmed to brennan that he is under fbi surveillance… and you have put pikeman on high alert… and you have compromised a major investigation!

What happens with your investigation is not my problem. Okay, you know, you need to listen to me, carly! So you understand what’s at stake! Like what?! Never mind. I don’t want to know. I don’t want to know. Because why should I trust you? Why should I trust

any of you? I mean, john shows up being all nice and genuine. Then he goes to jason and he hassles him about pikeman! And you know this how? I don’t think john would have shared that information with you. Were you listening? You were listening, weren’t you? Oh, my god. Of course, you were listening! You just asked me why you should trust me. It’s because I’m trying to help you! Or have you forgotten that brennan could have killed you the day that we arrested him? I remember you and dante bursting in with your guns drawn. The only thing brennan was packing was a couple zip ties. Yeah, like everyone walks around with zip ties in their pocket! Well, apparently, all spies do. Where are yours? In your pocket or in your purse somewhere? I don’t have any — okay. Look. I have never, ever considered you to be stupid or naive. But brennan could have kidnapped you that day or worse. You know what? I’m not so sure about that. I mean, if jack brennan is as dangerous as you say, he could have taken me down, he could have pulled a gun. He didn’t do either. I mean, maybe what you saw as a life-or-death situation was just a miscommunication. Why don’t you try to be as smart as you think you are? You stay the hell away from jack brennan! Oh, really? Hey, fritz. Um, I don’t feel like driving tomorrow, so I’m gonna need a ride. Yes. Yes, that’s right. Well, I would like to go to pentonville. Yes. No. I-I want to leave from here. Great. I’ll see you tomorrow. Well, that’s nice of you — to still visit your friends behind bars. Finn and violet have probably already left for the rehearsal and coney island, so why don’t you have dinner with me? As it turns out, sasha is a fabulous cook. All she has to do is heat it up for us. I’m not having dinner with you tonight, tracy, because you are going to coney island.

[ Laughs ] Oh, in the words of the bensonhurst brigade… “fuggedaboutit.” This is lois’ event, not mine. And while they’re all dining on hot dogs and cotton candy, I will be enjoying sasha’s delicious meal with cloth napkins and a tablecloth. Besides, I’m not in the ceremony, so there’s nothing for me to rehearse. I couldn’t disagree with you more. I need you to stand in for me at the rehearsal. That way, you can tell me when the music starts and stops, when I make my entrance, where to stand, all the little details that I need to know. Is this why you wanted to see me tonight? Uh, partially. T-there’s something else. I guess you could call it my “fail-safe” plan — in case I can’t make it to my son’s wedding. I am really excited about hopefully helping so many people, but I have so much to learn when it comes to the media side of things. I have no doubt that you’re gonna get the hang of it. Plus, you got so many people around you to help. It was a really good idea to have nina stay for the rehearsal. Her suggestion to simply smile made it so much easier the next few rehearsals. You really are a natural, but I have to admit nina’s media savvy probably could help us reach our target audience. So if you’re open to it, I mean, I could ask her to become more involved. Well, I’m not surprised… since you and nina planned this whole thing. Didn’t you? I’m just here to scrounge. I was hoping to find some yummy leftovers in the fridge. Yeah, I take it you’re hungry? Aren’t I always?

[ Laughs ] This is what I like to see. Checking out new recipes? Yeah, I am thinking of trying out some new appetizers. Ooh! Stick around long enough, and you might get to sample them. I’m really glad we talked, michael.

[ Sighs ] She’s amazing. Oh, I know. So, what are your plans for all of her…amazingness?

oh, baby, how are you feeling about this? I can’t feel anything but betrayed. For me and spencer. I understand, baby. And I don’t blame you one bit. And right now I’m — I’m straining my objectivity to try to see it from laura’s point of view. I’m trying to think how I might feel if this was a member of our family. Stella, that’s big of you. Really. It’s amazing. You know, I was police commissioner throughout heather’s hook killing spree, her jail breaks, and I’m struggling to find objectivity, too. But, still, I recognize laura’s courage to even consider taking this on. She has to realize the political firestorm she’ll cause if she gets that case against heather re-opened. So, are you saying that laura’s asking for heather to be set free? Well, you just put that out there, didn’t ya? I find it saves a lot of time to be direct. I saw you two just now. There’s sparks, you know? T-there’s something there. Yeah. Yeah. We have a good time. We’re friends. Friends. Okay. Friendship’s good. Can’t have too many. But some friendships are more special than others, and I just — I hope you realize how special sasha is. Don’t I ever. I mean… her molten chocolate lava cake is to die for. Are you ever serious? I’m very serious about my job, so no worries there. Okay. What about sasha? She has been through a hell of a lot these last few years. And she’s come through. She’s one of the best people that I know. So I hope you’re serious about being good to her. I will be as good to her as she’ll let me be. Willow, are you — are you accusing me of — of setting you up? I am accusing you of being a well-meaning friend who is trying to patch things up between nina and me. I’ll admit. I would love if you and nina work things out, but I am a businessman, and nina coaching you makes for a better psa, which may widen the reach for the appeal, which is what aurora promised the new tomorrow institute. So it’s good business. I would never do anything that I thought would hurt you. I hope you know that, willow. A-and I do get how sensitive the situation is between you and your mother. Ahh. My “mother.” That still lands with a jolt. I haven’t thought of nina in those terms in a while. I know, willow, but if I can get past it and find a way to work with her, maybe you can, too. I meant what I said before. Your attitude toward nina, your ability to put the past in the past and deal with her here in the present, made me rethink my own attitude. But it’s hard. I have opened myself up to nina on more than one occasion, and it did not go well for me. There was always a lie or manipulation, and then I’m left feeling angry and foolish. Like, how many times do I have to go through the same thing before I learn my lesson? Nina was the one that needed to learn her lesson, willow. Maybe she has. Maybe? I can’t be sure. But I’m willing to give her a chance. And I — I realize that it’s easier for me. She sent you to prison! I have a professional relationship with her, not a personal relationship with her, so she can, like — she can disappoint me, she can frustrate me, but she can’t — she can’t wound me. So I get… I get how letting her in is just a much bigger risk for you than it is for me. And saying that… …I realize that I owe you an apology. You? Why? I, uh… may have finagled the meeting and pushed things a bit so that you guys would have a chance to interact. And I’m sorry. But I stand by my business perspective. She really did make things better. So if you’re not comfortable… no, no. I’ll — I’ll think about it. Good. Then why do you look so upset? Because I have no right to come down on you. Not when I’ve been keeping something from you myself. Keeping something from me? About your brother. Carly: I can’t do this! I don’t have time. I’m sorry. That’s — that was unnecessary. Carly, I’m having the best day ever, and I do not want to ruin it. Look. We are never gonna hear bluebirds or see rainbows when our paths cross, but we don’t have to take shots at each other unnecessarily. Like you just did? It — that was a reflex that I regret. And I’m sorry. I approached you because there was actually another reason why I needed to talk to you. It can’t be another apology. I’ve already heard them all. No. I wanted to tell you that…

[ Exhales heavily ] …You were right about sonny.

I cobbled together some traditional texts along with some thoughts and musings of my own. I’m sure it’s very beautiful. Thanks, but I’m not looking for assurance. I’m holding you to your promise to take my place if I — yadda, yadda, yadda! You are presiding over chase and brook lynn’s ceremony. It’s meant to be. The only things that are “meant to be” are death and taxes. Yeah, well, I take exception to the latter. Tracy, don’t tell me you have stage fright.

[ Scoffs] Whether I do or not is beside the point. You’re the officiant! I-I’m just — I’m covering my bases, in case I can’t read my notes or I-I lose my breath, things that have been happening more and more these days. I’ll need my understudy to go on if that happens. Well, I seriously doubt that I’m gonna need to “go on,” as you put it, because you are perfectly capable of marrying those two, all while being… the most attractive man in the room.

[ Chuckles ] Flattery… will get you everywhere. Except coney island. Now, can we get to the airport in time? You have to make that rehearsal. I’ll get there. Oh… w-what’s the dress code for coney island? Think mermaid.

[ Groans ]

[ Laughs ] I heated you up some beef bourguignon. Otherwise known as beef stew.

[ Chuckles ] Where’s michael? Uh, he, uh — he left… right after warning me to be good to you. Okay. Well, I know michael. He had the best of intentions, but it’s not his job to make sure that I’m well-treated. It’s mine. I get to decide all on my own if a situation works for me, if it fits my needs. So we’re talking about your job as a cook? “Situation” is pretty vague. It covers my job, but also the people I associate with. Like me. You don’t need a lecture from michael on being good to me, cody. You already are. Trina, I can’t speak for laura’s intentions, but I do know her as my boss and as a person. She is smart and sensitive. So let’s not jump to any conclusions. The immediate question is, where does heather belong while they sort out her medical and legal issues? My vote is someplace safe and secure. T-this is a very complicated issue. I’ve worked with psych patients and their families, and — and I know that people’s pain, whether mental or physical, can drive them to do and say things that would otherwise be unthinkable. Okay, aunt stella, maybe heather was acting out of mental or physical pain, as you say. But what about her victims? What about the victims’ families? What about the pain she inflicted on us?! What I’m about to tell you is confidential, okay? Okay. When jason got back to port charles, after he jumped off the bridge… michael and I found him in the boathouse badly wounded. And we bandaged him up and got him antibiotics from the hospital. Jason should never have put you guys in that position. We had to do something. He was shot. So did you stitch him up? Of course you did. Because that’s what you do, willow. You help people. You helped jason. You help people at G.H. And now you’re helping people through the new tomorrow institute. I appreciate you so much, willow. And your secret is safe with me. Nina: You said that it wasn’t going to last, that sonny would leave me, and he did. If I had listened to you, maybe I could have saved myself some heartache, but, you know, I-I wouldn’t listen to you or anyone else. I had to live it. And I have. Is that all? I’m trying to make amends with drew. I understand needing to be on good terms with your employer. It’s in drew and my best interests to have a good working relationship. Then I guess it’s all worked out, huh? You and drew have a working relationship. You’re back at crimson. I have my hotel back. I mean… no reason to look back at all the damage done, huh? It’s good for all just to move forward. You make it sound easy. Not easy. Necessary. I’m not looking back. I’m not going that way. Jason? Jason?!

[ Exhales sharply ] Well, you were right.

Days Opinions For The Week Of May 6, 2024

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Paulina from Days

The writers clearly want Paulina to look like a monster for saving Chanel’s life. Of course, the writers had to have Paulina responsible for Chanel’s baby possibly being in danger. Paulina did what any other parent on the show would have done if their children were in danger. We get that Paulina should have stayed at the hospital, but Chanel would still be in the snow if she didn’t rescue her. Now they want Paulina to look like the bad guy for saving her.

Chanel basically blamed Paulina for putting her life in danger. She said she was grateful to Paulina for saving her life. Now she basically blamed Paulina for the baby’s life being in danger. Would Chanel have felt better if Paulina left her to die? We understand that she’s pregnant and scared for her baby, but Paulina is the same person she wanted to live not too long ago. Fast forward weeks later and Chanel wanted to give Paulina the brush. She didn’t even want to spend Mother’s Day with Paulina even though she didn’t want her to die. We understand that Chanel is upset that Paulina risked her baby’s life, but she decided to keep the baby, so she didn’t need to blame Paulina anymore.

We applaud the writers for Sloan revealing the truth about Jude to EJ. Sloan predictably wanted to work with EJ to keep the baby a secret, but we’re surprised the truth came out. We personally wouldn’t mind seeing Sloan and EJ work together to keep the secret from Nicole and Eric. It’s not the ideal opinion, but we’re curious as to what EJ will do about the baby.

Kristen made it seem as if Brady didn’t have any money because Victor cut him out of the will. What happened to John’s money? John’s rich so Brady should have his money. Are we supposed to believe John suddenly lost his money? Also, Brady lives with John and Marlena, so he doesn’t have to pay for anything other than child support. He should be able to give Kristen money.

We applaud the writers for giving John, Marlena, Steve, and Maggie a story. It’s nice to see the veterans on the show in a major storyline for a change. Despite how long it has taken to reveal the truth about Konstantin, it’s nice to see them in a story. We know it won’t last long so we will enjoy it while it lasts. Hopefully it won’t take the writers a long time before they get a storyline again.

We liked Johnny bonding with EJ over the baby. It was the least Johnny could do since he didn’t invite him to the wedding. Anyway, we loved seeing them talk about the baby. Johnny is going through a lot knowing that the baby may have problems, so it was good that he had someone to talk to. It’s not as if he talks to anyone else in his family so luckily EJ was around to talk to. Speaking of Johnny’s family, you would think he would talk to Sami about the baby. She knows what it’s like to have a child who isn’t healthy so she could have told him what to do about his situation.

You would think Maggie wouldn’t have been hesitant to listen to Marlena, Steve, and John about Konstantin using her. Maggie has known them for years so she should know they wouldn’t have lied to her about Konstantin. If anything, they would have had her best interests at heart. They wouldn’t have lied to her. We know Maggie must be clueless for Konstantin’s plan to work but it didn’t make sense for her to think the best in Konstantin and the worst in her friends.

Update written by Joseph

EJ is outside the DiMera Mansion, on the phone with Dr. Rolf, demanding the DNA test results. EJ questions how much longer he needs. EJ tells him to let him know the second he gets them. EJ hangs up and then gets a call from Sloan, who is in the park with Jude. EJ asks what the hell he wants. Sloan asks if he got the test results yet. EJ says he’s working on it. Sloan assures that she told the truth that Jude is Eric and Nicole’s biological child so he can run all the tests he wants. Sloan then questions if EJ really wants to test the strength of his relationship with Nicole by her finding out the truth. Sloan asks if EJ is worried that Nicole will go running back to Eric the second that she finds out they created a child together. EJ then hangs up when he sees Nicole and Holly coming out from the mansion and greets them. Holly talks about being ready for breakfast. Nicole asks if she’s sure she’s okay with going to the Bistro. Holly assures that the restaurant didn’t have anything to do with what happened to her and that she was really enjoying her time with everyone before then. EJ, Nicole, and Holly then head for the Bistro.

Tate and Theresa have breakfast at the Bistro. Tate comments on Theresa never giving up on him. Theresa assures that she will always be there for him and she will always fight for what’s best for him even if they don’t agree on it.

Chad brings Thomas to visit Abigail’s grave for Mother’s Day. Thomas leaves drawings for her and talks about how they were going to bring Charlotte but she’s too young to understand. Thomas talks about carrying Abigail in their hearts as Chad wishes her a Happy Mother’s Day.

Julie visits the Tom and Alice plaque in the town square to wish Alice a Happy Mother’s Day. Julie talks about knowing Alice is always watching over them and how she’s doing her best to rebuild the house. Julie wishes for a hint about opening the time capsule. Julie cries about them being in Heaven with the saints and the angels where they belong. Paulina appears and wishes Julie a Happy Mother’s Day. Julie wishes her the same. Paulina mentions not feeling like such a wonderful mother these days. Julie encourages her not to be so hard on herself, pointing out that her children and grandchildren adore her along with everyone who knows her.

Johnny sits in the living room of the DiMera Mansion, on the phone with Sami for Mother’s Day. Johnny says he’s glad she and Sydney had a great day. Johnny claims he has nothing new to report and wishes Sami a Happy Mother’s Day as he hangs up. Chanel comes in and asks how his mom is. Johnny says she’s great and explains that he made reservations for Sydney to take Sami out to eat for Mother’s Day. Johnny asks if Chanel is going to be late meeting her mom for lunch. Chanel then reveals that she decided to cancel. Johnny questions why and if she’s feeling okay. Chanel responds that she’s fine and this is going to sound awful, but she can’t take seeing her mom today. Johnny encourages that it doesn’t sound awful and she’s just being honest. Chanel feels guilty and talks about Paulina protecting her all through her childhood, so she knows how much she loves her but now that she’s pregnant and her decision to leave isolation put them at risk. Johnny says he gets it. Chanel says she really can’t sit across from Paulina and make small talk while she’s mad and she can’t make it better. Johnny says she doesn’t have to explain herself. Johnny notes that he loves his mom but sometimes feels they are better off on separate continents. Johnny adds that he did not tell Sami about their pregnancy because she’d be on the next flight back to Salem. Chanel says that’s good because she’s not ready for the return of Sami Brady. Chanel then tells Johnny to wish her luck because she’s going to call Paulina to tell her she’s not coming.

Paulina and Julie talk about their grandchildren. Julie asks if Paulina has plans with Chanel for Mother’s Day. Paulina confirms going to lunch at the Bistro, then gets a call from Chanel. Chanel tells Paulina that she’s sorry but she’s not going to make it and claims she’s feeling queasy so she’s just going to stay in bed. Paulina says she understands and tells her to take care of herself. Chanel says she’ll talk to her later and hangs up.

Sloan returns home with Jude to find Eric has made her breakfast. Eric says he would’ve served her in bed if she didn’t leave so early. Sloan says Jude’s an early riser. Eric and Sloan talk about having the main course. They kiss as Eric assures he’s a patient man.

Tate tells Theresa that he gets what she’s saying and they look over the menu to order. EJ, Nicole and Holly then arrive which upsets Theresa, who questions if that’s why Tate wanted to bring her here so bad. Tate claims he had no idea they would be there. Nicole tells Holly that she wasn’t born yesterday and accuses her of wanting to come to the Bistro so she could see Tate. Holly says she didn’t know he would be there and points out that EJ made the reservation.

Chad tells Thomas that he’s really proud of him and encourages Abigail always being in his heart. Thomas says he likes coming to visit Abigail here and that Charlotte can come with them next year. Chad knows they didn’t get to be a family as long as they wanted, but he’s really grateful for the time they had. Chad tells Thomas that he loves him. Thomas tells Chad that he loves him too.

Paulina tells Julie that she suddenly has no Mother’s Day plans as Chanel is under the weather and not up for going out today. Paulina assures it’s not radiation poison which Julie calls a relief. Paulina adds that the doctor gave Chanel a full physical and said she’s fine. Paulina guesses it’s just a spring cold. Julie is sure when Chanel feels better, they will have a belated celebration.

Sloan asks Eric about his new job. Eric says it’s going great and they are surrounded by a great team for the most part, except for Leo. Eric suggests telling Chad that Leo accepts payoffs but Sloan clarifies that it wasn’t and that she was just helping a friend. Eric argues that friends don’t do things like that. Sloan tries to be understanding that Leo just lost the love of his life, who Eric points out is a felon doing hard time. Sloan says she still doesn’t want Leo to lose his job now too. Sloan pleads with Eric to just drop it as a Mother’s Day gift to her. Eric agrees only for her but notes he will still keep an eye on Leo. Sloan thinks Leo’s troublemaking days are finally behind him.

Theresa comments to Tate that she thought there would be more people at the Bistro so she hopes they don’t close as quick as they reopen. Tate questions her wanting the Bistro to stay open when Stefan was running drugs through it. Theresa argues that she has no love for Stefan or Clyde but there are good people working there and there isn’t a good restaurant on every corner. Theresa asks Tate about his job. Tate says it’s good and asks Theresa what she’s going to do now for work. Theresa says she’ll figure something out and he will be the first to know. Nicole, EJ, and Holly go over the menu at their table. EJ toasts to Nicole. Holly tells Nicole that she knows it’s been a rough year for her and she’s sorry for her part in that, but she’s extremely grateful for her as she wishes her a Happy Mother’s Day.

Chanel tells Johnny that it’s a strange Mother’s Day for her for obvious reasons, but she’s glad that EJ made them an appointment with a specialist and that not many people know she’s pregnant. Johnny states that lots of couples wait to tell people so it’s not unusual. Chanel feels guilty since they talked about how a new life is always a blessing no matter what, but now children with birth defects could mean lifelong care and she read that could put a lot of stress on a marriage and they just started their marriage again. Chanel hopes they can both be strong enough to handle whatever isn’t perfect about their baby because she doesn’t want anything to change between them. Johnny promises that nothing will change between them and hugs her as she cries.

Eric puts Jude to sleep and surprises Sloan with a Mother’s Day present which is a topaz necklace for Jude’s birthstone. Sloan tells Eric that she loves it. Eric says it represents joy and good fortune which Sloan says Jude brought in to their lives. Sloan says it’s perfect and thanks him for the best day. Eric tells her there’s a lot more to come as they kiss.

Theresa encourages Tate to be excited about prom. Tate asks how her prom was but Theresa reveals she didn’t go because she thought she was too cool for school and was dating somebody older. Theresa asks Tate if he wants to go shopping for a tuxedo because her schedule is wide open. Tate questions that being what she wants to do on Mother’s Day. Theresa tells him to find out what color Sophia’s dress is so he can get a matching bowtie. Theresa asks Tate to tell her about Sophia. Tate says she’s just a girl in a couple of his classes but he doesn’t really know her that well. Theresa questions him asking her to prom then. Tate says it just kind of happened. Theresa asks if Tate’s going to pick her up. Tate says she’s thinking too hard about this so Theresa agrees to stop asking questions but remarks that she’s really glad Tate isn’t going to prom with Holly and she’s so glad that he has moved on. Tate remarks that it’s not like he had a choice. EJ, Holly, and Nicole talk about Nicole’s first story as a reporter. Nicole calls it almost as exciting as being district attorney and the CEO of a major corporation at the same time which EJ calls a balancing act. Nicole brings up the idea of getting away for a weekend to Chicago or New York. Holly says not until after prom but Nicole tells Holly that is not happening as she’s not going to prom.

Chad and Thomas go to the Brady Pub. Julie joins them as Chad wishes her a Happy Mother’s Day and says he’s thrilled she could join them. Thomas tells Julie about visiting Abigail. Julie talks about visiting Alice. Thomas says he can’t wait to move back home. Chad and Julie agree. Julie says Maggie is a wonderful hostess but there’s no place like home. Thomas then surprises Julie with a Mother’s Day gift which he says he and Charlotte made for her to hang in the new house. Julie calls it perfect and thanks him as Chad smiles.

Johnny tells Chanel that having kids in general is going to change the dynamic in any relationship. Chanel worries about their situation. Paulina then shows up, catching them off guard, as she enters with a bag and wishes a Happy Mother’s Day. Chanel questions what she’s doing there and mentions not hearing the doorbell. Paulina says that Harold let her in and reveals she brought soup, crackers, and tea for Chanel. Paulina announces she’s going to make it all herself and asks if she can go through the kitchen. Johnny calls that entirely unnecessary but Paulina insists on taking care of Chanel. Johnny says Chanel is very tired and needs to rest, so he thinks it would just be better if they hung out another time and apologizes. Paulina promises she won’t stay very long and asks if she can just visit for a few minutes but Chanel declares that she rather she not.

Tate asks Theresa if there’s anything new with her and Alex. Theresa says not really so Tate asks if it’s over then. Theresa says she doesn’t know and asks to talk about something else. Holly questions Nicole saying she’s not going to prom. Nicole brings up that last time Holly went to a night time event, she almost died so she would be too worried about her. Nicole reminds Holly that she’s already grounded anyways. Holly informs her that she already has a date named Aaron Greene. Nicole questions who that is. Holly remarks that maybe she’d know if she was more involved in her life. EJ calls that uncalled for but Holly cuts him off and says she wasn’t talking to him. Nicole warns her to watch it and argues that she is involved in her life, accusing her of trying to butter her up with a Mother’s Day speech so she could go to prom. Holly calls it so unfair. EJ suggests they save this until they get home. Holly questions if she’s just going to be grounded forever and asks why Nicole can’t just let her live her life.

Julie calls Thomas the best person she knows and says she’s proud to be his aunt. Thomas says he’s proud of her too. Thomas asks Chad if he can join Roman in the kitchen which Chad allows. Julie comments to Chad that Thomas really looks like him but personality wise, there’s a lot of Abigail in him. Chad says Charlotte is starting to look more like Abigail every day. Julie knows it’s a really difficult day for him. Chad says he misses Abigail every day as it never goes away. Julie talks about missing her son David and the mothering feelings never go away. Julie says she’s very lucky to have grandchildren to love and nurture including Chad’s children and Chad. Chad says they are so lucky to have her and hugs her as he wishes her a Happy Mother’s Day.

Paulina questions Chanel not wanting her. Chanel wants her to stop trying to fix everything and declares that what’s happening to her right now can’t be fixed. Paulina argues they don’t know that. Chanel says that what they do know is that Paulina made the snap decision to leave isolation and expose her to radiation, so now they are dealing with the consequences of that. Paulina complains that she feels terrible about that and her guilt is killing her. Chanel argues that Paulina isn’t going to turn what’s happening to her in to her own personal tragedy. Paulina says she would never but Chanel says she is and that’s why she didn’t want her here. Chanel tells Paulina that she and Johnny need space, so she hopes she can respect that. Paulina says she understands and she’ll show herself out. Paulina puts back the food she brought and exits the mansion as Johnny hugs Chanel.

Holly complains to Nicole about not letting her go to prom, calling it the biggest night of the year that everyone’s going to. Nicole tells Holly that she can go next year but Holly continues to argue with her. Nicole worries that Holly is making a scene. Holly stands up and shouts at Nicole that she really hates her and storms out of the Bistro. EJ tells Nicole to let her go but Nicole says she can’t. Theresa watches Holly go and calls her a drama queen. Tate says she doesn’t always have to comment but Theresa argues that Holly is being obnoxious and rude. Theresa remarks that Tate is so lucky to be rid of her.

Eric and Sloan walk through the town square with Jude. Sloan talks about what a nice morning it’s been. They then see Nicole following Holly out of the Bistro as Holly yells at Nicole to leave her alone. Holly calls Nicole a hypocrite for screwing up her whole life but now she’s living it up in a mansion while she screws up once and gets punished for eternity. Holly declares Nicole to be the worst mom on the planet as they then turn around and see Eric and Sloan.

Chanel cries to Johnny that she just broke her mom’s heart on Mother’s Day so she’s a horrible daughter. Johnny encourages that she stood up for herself and was honest so she did the right thing. Chanel worries about the look on Paulina’s face. Johnny says it’s not like she told her she never wants to see her again, just that she needs space and she does. Chanel hopes that Paulina doesn’t get too worked up about it. Chanel tells herself that Paulina knows she loves her and she’s just going through a lot right now. Chanel adds that since they are being honest, she appreciates Johnny being there and saying all the right things but he hasn’t really told her how he feels about it. Johnny says he thought he did but he’ll tell her again. Johnny tells Chanel that it’s her body and he supports whatever she decides. Johnny adds that they created this baby out of their love for each other and that means a lot to him. Chanel hopes that if everything isn’t okay, that they will be alright because their love will get them through it. Johnny believes that with all his heart as they kiss.

Paulina goes to the park and sits on a bench, praying for God to look over Chanel and her baby. Paulina cries that they did nothing wrong and this is all her fault. Paulina begs for God to let Chanel’s baby be healthy and strong.

Chad calls Julie the glue that keeps the family together and declares that because of her, the Horton legacy will live on. Julie tells him how much that means and cries that having Chad and his kids living in the house has given her and Doug some of the sweetest days of their lives. Chad says they are blessed to have them. Chad talks about Charlotte being really young when Abigail died, so having Julie there meant a lot. Julie promises that they will keep the memory of Abigail alive for the kids as they hug.

Eric approaches Holly and asks what’s going on. Holly responds that Nicole is being a total hypocrite and has a bug up her ass because she made one mistake, arguing that Nicole was never perfect. Nicole says that she never said she was and that this isn’t about her. Eric asks for a few minutes with Holly to give them a chance to cool off. Nicole says she’ll wait right there as Eric takes Holly aside and questions what’s going on. Holly informs him that Nicole won’t let her go to prom and asks Eric to talk to her and tell her she’s making a big deal out of nothing. Eric argues that Holly almost died which isn’t nothing. Holly complains that screwing up once shouldn’t mean she gets locked up for the rest of her life. Eric argues that Nicole is just trying to keep her safe and brings up when his sister Sami was her age but Holly remarks that things are different now and it’s not how it was in the stone ages. Sloan goes over to Nicole, who complains that her daughter shouted in public that she hates her. Sloan asks what happened. Nicole explains that she told her she can’t go to prom because of what happened on New Year’s. Nicole asks if Sloan would do everything she could to prevent it if she knew she could lose her child. Jude wakes up crying, so Sloan asks Nicole to help with him while she gets his bottle ready. EJ comes out from the Bistro and gets a call from Dr. Rolf, who confirms to him that there is no doubt that Jude is Eric and Nicole’s baby. EJ hangs up and declares that he’s more sorry than he knows.

Jordan: I knew it. You need me. You’re not just let me rot in here when I have something that I can offer you. I have a skillset that you need.

Victor: I don’t need you. I’m merely considering my options right now.

Jordan: Okay. Okay. Okay, victor. Then, you tell me. You tell me, okay? Whatever it is, I’ll do it.

Victor: It’ll be at a time of my choosing.

******”**************************

Jordan: Oh, surely. Surely, you don’t doubt my capabilities. My ability to take risks, push the limits. I have a special talent for you. Only I can do… what I can do. You know that. I can smell fear, I can manipulate it, I can weaponize it. Just ask your lovely wife.

Victor: You’re a delusional, vicious bitch. And don’t ever mention Nikki again.

[ Jordan laughs ]

Jordan: Whatever the great and powerful Victor Newman wants. But I think that you want me to do your dirty work. And I think… I’m right. I mean, what is it? My hands are already awash in blood. What’s a little more?

Jack: Okay, I’m not gonna argue this with you. Nikki finally made her own decision about going to rehab.

Victor: And that was up to me to convince her to do that.

Jack: No one decides when or how Nikki gets sober. Only Nikki can get herself there. And she did. Isn’t that what matters?

Victor: And what you did was unconscionable.

Jack: My conscience is clear.

Victor: That only shows me how delusional you are.

Jack: Hold on.

Victor: Is your ego that big and that fragile, you can’t admit that you made a huge mistake?

“******”******************

Jack: My giant ego? Isn’t this about your giant ego and your being shattered that you did not know how far gone Nikki was? Isn’t that why you’re coming after me?

Victor: Don’t you turn this back on me.

Jack: All I care about is that Nikki survived. Had I not stepped in at the rate she was going, she would be drinking herself to death right now. Victor, I know how much you love her. Isn’t that the most important thing? She found the help she needs.

Victor: I want her to become strong and healthy around professionals, not amateurs like you.

Jack: I never claimed to be a professional, merely a friend trying to help someone I care a great deal about.

Victor: You put her life in jeopardy.

Jack: Nikki is okay.

Victor: She was absolutely petrified when you collapsed on that– she called the paramedics for heaven’s sake. You could’ve died!

Nate: Busy, yeah, yeah, I get it. Me too, me too. So, uh, where’s, uh, tucker?

Nate: Ah, well, you two are usually joined at the hip. Hope that means you got wise and kicked him to the curb.

Audra: Oh, well, sorry to disappoint you, but tucker and i are as solid as ever.

Nate: Ah, too bad.

Audra: Is it?

Nate: Isn’t it?

Audra: Well, we’re independent people who do independent things, which i think it’s healthy in a relationship. You should try it sometime.

Nate: Ooh, smack.

Audra: Well, you deserved that.

Nate: Look, look, I didn’t come over here to argue with you, Audra. Um, truth is, I miss our friendship

*****************************************

Alan: Well, I was beginning to wonder after our last visit.

Ashley: I have to apologize for my very unpleasant behavior. It’s living with this family. You know, they’re just picking at me and prodding me. It’s like living under a microscope, you know?

Alan: Yeah, that must be– that must be difficult.

Ashley: Yeah, I have no words for it. But here I am treating you like you’re their guard dog instead of my dear friend. I hope you can forgive me.

Alan: Of course, I forgive you.

Ashley: Okay, ’cause the last thing I want is for you to think that I’m pushing you away.

Alan: Well, not too long ago you did tell me to pack my bags and head off to Vienna.

Ashley: Don’t listen to me. Don’t listen to me at all. No, that was just me in the heat of the moment dealing with horrible siblings that don’t believe anything I say. I mean, I’m not mad at you. Honestly, I feel like you’re the only person in my life I can actually trust.

Alan: I’m very glad to hear that. And I want you to know that I am here to listen to whatever you have on your mind

Nick: He said mom told him that it was just to shake some sense into her. Is that true? It was just about saving my mom and not about you falling off the wagon?

Jack: Nikki had given up. She had no fight left in her. I could not get through to her. At that moment, I would’ve done anything.

Nick: Dad said the paramedics were there. You had passed out.

Jack: Yeah, that part’s a little hazy.

Nick: So, it’s true. You took the pills and sabotaged your own sobriety.

Jack: It was a necessity. Hey, I saw a friend in danger. I went out on a limb. Maybe too far out, but at least it succeeded.

Nick: You know it was crazy, right? It’s a crazy thing to do, Jack. I can’t even wrap my head around a gesture like that.

Jack: I take it you disapprove.

Nick: It’s not my place to judge you. I mean, my mom is finally in rehab and you seem to have made it out the other side. You okay?

Sally: Well, you guys will have to play catch up, now that he knows more than you.

Adam: I just wish it was about video games or soccer moves. But I guess I’ll take it. I can see in his eyes how badly he wants to get better. And I wanna hold onto hope.

Sally: You should. Let him see that.

Adam: I’m not sure what else to do. You know, I feel like an observer in all of this. You know, letting an outsider look after my kid.

Sally: But you feel like Connor feels empowered. Like he has a say in all this.

Adam: Well, he feels like they get him. He’s not alone.

Sally: That’s positive. You know, you’re– you’re feeling your way through this. And so’s connor.

Adam: Yeah. I guess.

Sally: Why do you say it like that?

Adam: Just, I feel like my son is moving on without me. He’s leaving me behind

Sharon: That is the cruelest thing you can say to a child when their parents are their whole world.

Phyllis: Oh, she’s a sick bitch.

Sharon: Phyllis, um, you know, maybe you should rein in your anger a little bit when you’re around Harrison. I know that this is difficult, if not unbearable, but Harrison’s already been through enough stress as it is.

Phyllis: Okay, I’m not clueless. Sharon, I would never talk like that in front of Harrison, but we’re adults here, and it’s very emotional, and I think the entire world would agree with me if they knew what Jordan did to that little boy

***********************************

Phyllis: You’re very good at that. You know, being soothing and talking, even though you’re not in the therapist business anymore.

Sharon: Well, thank you. I’m always happy to help. And if you need any help, someone to talk to…

Phyllis: You?

Sharon: Well, no, not me somebody else.

Phyllis: Yeah, somebody else, of course, I figured.

Sharon: You figured, right?

Phyllis: Yeah, that would be crazy. When my doctor gave me Breztri for my COPD

Sharon: I, uh, I know how much summer means to you.

Phyllis: Yes, it’s just– it’s hard when she’s upset and I can’t do anything to fix it.

Sharon: Well, I can imagine how worried you must’ve been about summer and Harrison. Um, but everyone is safe now. And from what I can tell, summer has turned out to be a great mother.

Nikki: [ Slurring ] Uh, Victor? Victor? Jack? Lauren? Jack? Oh, can’t you people stop calling me? Can I have one damn moment of peace? I mean, is that so much to ask?

[ Grunts ]

[ Sighs ] That bitch is finally dead. I deserve this. I earned it.

[ Cell phone buzzes ] God, who now? Oh… well, Victor again. “I’ve been trying to reach you. “Where are you?” Right where I wanna be. Yep.

[ Exhales ] Right where I wanna be.

Alan: Of that, I have no doubt. Would you like to join us?

Ashley: Oh, don’t feel obligated.

Jack: Thank you. I think I will. So, Ashley has kept you under wraps. I know you’re friends, but not much more. How long have you two known each other? When did you meet?

Ashley: Go ahead. Why don’t you tell that story?

Alan: No, I think you would do it justice.

Ashley: Well, damn. Nobody told me there was gonna be a pop quiz.

Recap written by Suzanne

At home, Finn explains to a shocked Steffy how Sheila is alive. She has trouble taking it all in, and the room spins.

Hope also explains the details to a disbelieving Ridge and Liam at Forrester. Ridge worries about how Steffy will take the news and is disgusted when Hope points out that Sheila was a victim in this particular case.

At the hospital, Li insists that her “patient” take the sheet down to reveal herself. Sheila does, and it shocks Li. Sheila laughs and taunts Li about how “her” son saved her life. Li gets angry and attacks Sheila. The nurses have to pull Li off Sheila. Deacon returns, too, and wonders what’s going on. Li yells that she’ll kill Sheila herself, with her bare hands. Deacon admonishes Sheila for the prank with a smile.

Finn: Look, I know this is an enormous shock and that you can’t believe it. I mean, I couldn’t either. But it’s true. I mean, when deacon first told me about this sugar woman…

Steffy: Okay, deacon lost it. You said so yourself.

Finn: Yeah, I thought he had.

Steffy: Sheila’s dead. Don’t try to tell me otherwise. I killed her right there.

Finn: It wasn’t sheila. It was sugar. That’s who deacon saw at the crematorium. Sugar and sheila are identical in every single way except one. Sugar has ten toes.

Li: Why do you have that sheet over your face? What happened to you? I knew someone named sheila. She had a missing toe too. The middle digit. Black nail polish. Just like you. Who are you? Answer me. Who are you? Answer me!

Liam: Okay, okay. So… what you’re claiming right now is that deacon was– he was right the whole time.

Ridge: Not really the most important thing, is it? You’re saying that sheila is still alive?

Hope: I– I know it’s the last thing that you wanna hear. I just thought you needed to know. Sheila carter is alive.

Ridge: This is unbelievable.

Hope: Well, look, I– I told you–

Ridge: I know what you told me, I know. A little farfetched to think that– that sheila didn’t die that night.

Hope: Because she didn’t, ridge. It wasn’t sheila who broke into the cliff house. It wasn’t sheila who attacked steffy. It wasn’t sheila that steffy stabbed and killed. It was sugar. A woman who apparently looks identical to sheila.

Liam: Whose real name you said was janet webber?

Ridge: Janet webber, yes.

Liam: Okay, well, look. Apparently, she was released not that long ago.

Hope: That is exactly how I felt when I saw sheila face-to-face.

Li: That’s it. I don’t know what kind of game you’re playing, but I am not amused. I came in here to examine you because you asked for me, but I can’t do that if I can’t see your face. Take that sheet down right now. Show me your face!

Sheila: No!

[ Li screams ]

[ Sheila mockingly screams ]

Li: No.

[ Sheila laughs ] No.

Finn: Deacon was right about all of it.

Steffy: Deacon has been feeding you this garbage for weeks. His fantasy about his lost loved one.

Finn: Yeah, he didn’t wanna give up. He didn’t wanna lose her and it’s a good thing that he didn’T. Because sheila is alive.

Steffy: No, finn. I killed sheila. I stabbed her to death right there.

Finn: Honey, no. And that’s what I’m telling you, okay? You didn’t do that. (Vo) you might be used to living with your albuterol asthma

Liam: Hope, you realize this is… this is crazy, this, uh…

Hope: If I hadn’t seen sheila with my own eyes–

Ridge: But, you did see her, right? Right after she was, uh, chained up in a warehouse?

Liam: By the person that steffy actually killed.

Hope: Yes. Sheila carter is alive.

Li: No. No. You– you died.

Sheila: Ooh, did I?

Li: This can’t be. This can’t be. You can’t be.

Sheila: And yet, here I am. You know, and I’d say I’m looking pretty good for a corpse, huh? Don’t you think?

Li: Oh, no, no. No, no, not possible. Steffy killed you. She stabbed you.

Sheila: Yeah, you would’ve liked to see me dead and gone, li. Hm. But I would think again. You– you– you really need to get control of yourself or you’re the one that’s gonna need medical attention. I was a nurse, remember? And I am sensing some hypersensitivity here.

Li: How? How is this happening?

Sheila: Well, I’d like to say it was dumb luck or maybe fate, but the truth is, it was finn. You all tried so hard to drive my son away from me, to drive a wedge between us. But you know what? Miracle of miracles. My wonderful son is the reason that I’m here. I am here…

Li: No! Because of my son, finn.

Li: How?

Finn: It’s okay.

Steffy: No. It’s not okay.

Finn: No.

Steffy: Do you hear yourself right now?

Finn: You’re stunned, all right? Of course, you are. I mean, I was too when I first realized all this.

Steffy: Okay. Sheila’s alive.

Finn: Yeah, it’s a lot to process.

Steffy: Yeah. And sugar looks exactly like sheila.

Finn: Yeah, she’s the one.

Steffy: Like they’re identical. Do you understand how ridiculous this sounds?

Finn: I know, but somehow it’s– it’s true.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Who told you this? Deacon?

Finn: No, my mother told us what happened.

Steffy: Li told you?

Finn: No, sheila. Sheila told us.

Steffy: Sheila. Your mother, okay. Did she tell you this from the grave? Because she is dead, finn.

Finn: Sugar’s dead. Yeah, she’s the one that wanted to hurt you. It wasn’t sheila.

Steffy: I saw sheila’s face.

Finn: I couldn’t tell the difference either. I couldn’t tell them apart. It wasn’t until deacon showed me the picture. Okay, that’s when I realized that what he’s been saying is true. That’s what convinced me. I mean, do you want me to show you?

Steffy: No, I don’t wanna–

Finn: Okay, listen. And the story that lauren fenmore told deacon about what happened all those years ago, that’s when I started to listen. And because, yes, it filled in a lot of the blanks. I understand that it’s crazy, but sheila tricked sugar into plastic surgery

Steffy: Oh, my god.

Finn: So that sugar would pay for all of her crimes. Okay, look, it was lauren fenmore who was the one that realized that it was sugar behind bars and not sheila.

Steffy: Okay, finn, you can’t take everything at face value. Like, where is the evidence? Where is the facts?

Finn: Sheila confessed this to lauren years ago.

Steffy: God.

Finn: Deacon, he wasn’t hallucinating. All right? He thought he saw ten toes going into the crematorium because he did. It wasn’t sheila’s body. It was sugar’S. And, sweetheart, I am not taking anyone’s word for it because I saw sheila. I saw her with my own eyes. Depression is a journey.

Li: What did you do to my son? What did you do to finn?

Sheila: You know, our son. Why do you always forget that?

Li: Where is he?

Sheila: He’s probably spreading the good news to his wife.

Li: Good news?

Sheila: Mama’s alive.

Li: You’re not his mother. You’re nothing to him.

Sheila: Then, why did he save me, huh? Let me tell you why. Because he’s a wonderful, strong, caring boy that loves his birth mother. That’s why I’m here.

Li: No.

Sheila: That’s why I have a second chance. Because of finn. And you know the best part, and you’re not gonna wanna hear this, but he’s happy. He’s happy to have me back in his life, and he never wants to be apart from me again. I wish you could’ve heard the beautiful things he had to say and the joy in his eyes. He even called me mom. You have no idea what that meant to me.

Li: No, no!

Sheila: Stop it. Li, remember your oath, do no harm.

Li: No!

Sheila: Stop. I don’t want to hurt you. Just stop it.

Deacon: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, no! What the hell’s going on?

Nurse: Dr. Finnegan.

Sheila: You know, I think– I think I’d like to see another doctor. Because dr. Finnegan’s bedside manner is– is a bit harsh for me.

Li: I don’t know how you did it. I don’t know how you cheated death, but you will never do it again! I will kill you with my own hands! Sheila, I will kill you! I will kill you!

Liam: This is absolutely insane. I– I don’t– I’m sorry it’s taking a second to process this. It’s not a reflection on you.

Ridge: We’re on board with this now? This latest scheme? We’re buying this?

Hope: Well, look, it’s not another one of sheila’s schemes. That’s what I’m trying to tell you. And finn believes that too.

Liam: Finn knows? Hope?

Hope: Look, when my dad learned about sugar, he– he told finn. And then they found some credit card charges and– and that led them to a mini-mart, they started asking questions, led them to the warehouse and that’s where they found sheila. Chained up. It was finn and my dad. They rescued her. And just so you know, they are both happy that she is alive. And finn is excited to have another chance at a relationship with his birth mother.

Liam: What?

Ridge: Psycho birth mother. What’s steffy gonna do with this? Sheila’s back and finn is choosing her. Is that what we’re doing? Is that where we are?

Liam: How is finn celebrating this, hope? How– how could he possibly celebrate this?

Hope: He thinks that steffy might find some relief in it.

Ridge: Relief? Is that what you said, relief?

Hope: I mean, obviously there will be an initial shock.

Ridge: Relief how? What, just a mother with two kids in danger again?

Liam: Well, whoa, we’re gonna make sure they’re not in danger, first of all.

Hope: Okay, finn cares about that as well. He just thinks that steffy will be relieved to know that she didn’t kill his birth mom.

Ridge: I don’t think this word relief means what you think it means. No one is relieved. Nobody. And if that’s what finn thinks, he’s got another thing coming.

Steffy: You think you saw sheila?

Finn: No, I did see her.

Steffy: Like that night you had the nightmare and you saw her talking to you in her blood?

Finn: No, no, honey. We took her back’s to deacon apartment. We found her and we saved her.

Steffy: I don’t know what this is. Like, what is happening? What is going on right now?

Finn: My mother is alive.

Steffy: Finn, sheila is not your mother. Li is. Sheila is dead. Like, I– this is really starting to freak me out.

Finn: Do you want– no, no, hey, hey, sweetheart. No, there’s nothing to be afraid of, okay? And, look, this isn’t a bad thing. It’s a good thing for all of us. And I understand that this is hard to accept. It’s shocking, it’s– it’s confusing, but we just– we need to give it some time.

Steffy: Finn, this isn’t real. Whatever this is, it’s not true.

Finn: It is, though. And, look, it’s gonna make things better. Because we have been working hard, right? We have been struggling to accept this horrible thing that happened. But guess what? Steffy, it didn’t happen. At least, not how we thought it was. Steffy, my birth mother is alive.

[]

Deacon: What are you giving her?

Sheila: That’s my protective fiancé.

Nurse: Just saline to help you rehydrate.

Sheila: Well, thank goodness. Who knows what dr. Finnegan would be giving me.

Nurse: Be back to check on you in a bit.

Sheila: Not to mention that she got the shock of her life.

Deacon: Hm. That was not very nice.

Sheila: Oh, come on. It was just a prank. Very harmless. Besides, she needed to know that finn’s birth mother was still alive.

Deacon: Mm-hmm.

Sheila: If you could’ve seen the look on her face.

Deacon: Yeah, well, wait ’til you see the look on everyone else’s face once they realize that sheila carter is back from the dead. Once again.

Ridge: My daughter’s gonna be horrified. Finn must know that.

Liam: What the hell is wrong with him?

Hope: What, finn can’t be happy that his birth mother isn’t dead?

Ridge: His birth mother tried to destroy this family.

Hope: That wasn’t sheila that tried to break into the house. That was sugar.

Ridge: This time. But what, all the other times, it was her. Any attempted murder. Any– any vicious attacks. Any of that, it was her. And if finn wants her back in our lives, I’ve got a problem with that.

Liam: It’s not just you. We’re all gonna have a problem. Including kelly, by the way, who lives over there. My daughter with finn and steffy. If sheila’s actually alive, none of us relax. Ever again.

Hope: Finn doesn’t believe that.

Liam: Because he’s an idiot!

Hope: Liam, sheila tried to stop sugar. She risked her life to protect steffy and the kids.

Ridge: Says who?

Hope: Finn. He believes that she is a changed person. That she is reformed.

Finn: I know it’s hard to believe. And you’ve been struggling with this for weeks.

Steffy: And so have you. More than I realized.

Finn: Yeah. I have been struggling. I mean, nothing has been the same since that night. And I was hoping that we could move past that, but it’s– it’s been there. It’s been in the back of my mind and I– I didn’t know why until I understood that deacon was right. My birth mother could be alive and I wanted to find her and we did.

Steffy: No, you didn’T. Sheila is dead.

Finn: Well, she could’ve been if we wouldn’t have found her in time. But we did. And she’s safe and I’m thankful.

Steffy: Huh? What? You’re thankful? After everything she did to us, we worked really hard to put her behind us.

Finn: Yeah, we have. It’s been difficult. Because the woman that I love killed the mother that I never got a chance to help.

Steffy: It was in self-defense.

Finn: No, hey, honey. No, no, no. Listen, I know, steffy. I know that it’s self-defense. That’s what I’m trying to tell you. Can’t you see? We don’t have to worry about that anymore.

Steffy: Because I didn’t kill sheila?

Finn: That’s right.

Steffy: What? So, the woman who came in here, that wasn’t sheila?

Finn: No. Honey, no, look, and I’m not losing it. I’m not confused. And you know me. You know me better than anyone. And I’m– I’m telling you the truth.

Steffy: So… what? That was sugar. Sugar was in our home. Oh, deacon was right. That woman who came in here… that woman who came in here and attacked me, that was sugar? And– and this whole time, sheila was what? She was– she was in a warehouse and you and deacon saved her? Is this real right now? Sheila carter’s alive. Sheila’s alive.

Deacon: Here’s a look ahead.

Finn: Let me guess. Deacon wants me to come to the wedding too.

Hope: He wanted to know if you would be his best man.

Steffy: This sick, twisted tie that you have to finn, it ends today.

Luna: What does it say? Is it negative? Is it positive?

Claire: They were so big, I couldn’t believe it.

Summer: This is unbelievable! It’s exactly what I told kyle I didn’t want. Claire all over harrison.

Phyllis: Yeah, I mean, they’re feeding ducks. Maybe it’s harmless.

Summer: That is so not the point. Kyle knows how I feel about her being around him. And– and so does she.

Claire: They were fighting.

Phyllis: Yeah, I get it. I get it. What do you wanna do?

Summer: I’m definitely not going to walk away.

Jack: Wait, you want to leave?

Diane: I don’t want to leave. I just don’t see any other way to get through this. I’m so angry at you, jack. For the risk you took for to your sobriety, and your life, and I won’t take the chance that that anger could push you back into a bottle of pills.

Jack: I will say it again. I’m not going to relapse.

Diane: You don’t know that.

Jack: You’re really thinking of leaving because of what happened to nikki? I made a judgement call that saved her life.

Diane: Yeah, and you almost lost yours.

Jack: No, I’m very much alive.

Diane: You were unconscious! You overdosed! The emts needed to revive you. The only life that needed saving was yours. And thank god nikki was sober enough to call.

Jack: It could just as easily have been nikki who was unconscious in that room. I knew I could come back from the pills. Nikki might not have been so lucky had alcohol poisoning set in.

Diane: Oh, please. You could have taken away her vodka bottles.

Jack: No, that’s not the way it works.

Diane: Oh, really, jack? Then, tell me. Is swallowing a bunch of pills in front of her how it works?

Jack: It was a last resort.

Diane: What if you walked into an aa meeting and you shared what happened? What do you think the members would say? That you did the right thing or that you made a horrific mistake?

Jack: You’re right. I’m willing to accept that taking pills was foolish. If I had thought it through, perhaps another, safer option for help nikki might have presented itself to me. I did not have time. It was an emergency. I made a choice. In the moment. A hail mary. And it worked. I’m sorry I put you through this. I mean that. I wish– I wish I could make it up to you.

Diane: So, is that what this is? An in the moment hail-mary?

Jack: What are you talking about?

Diane: You will say whatever it takes to keep me from leaving.

[ Jordan laughs ]

Jordan: I knew it. You need me. You’re not just let me rot in here when I have something that I can offer you. I have a skillset that you need.

Victor: I don’t need you. I’m merely considering my options right now.

Jordan: Okay. Okay. Okay, victor. Then, you tell me. You tell me, okay? Whatever it is, I’ll do it.

Victor: It’ll be at a time of my choosing.

I have type 2 diabetes, but I manage it well

Summer: What a surprise!

Harrison: Mommy!

Summer: Hi, buddy!

Victoria: Well, we were having such a lovely day.

Summer: How are you doing?

Harrison: Having fun.

Summer: I bet you are.

Phyllis: Hey, do you have one of those hugs for me? Oh, my goodness! Oh! You have grown like three feet since I last saw you.

Harrison: I was kidnapped. So was claire. By a witch.

Phyllis: Whoa! You are so brave.

Harrison: Claire says I’m the bravest boy she ever met. Right?

Claire: Brave and amazing and strong.

Harrison: Because I had my lucky charm. Claire found it for me.

Summer: Honey, you didn’t need a lucky charm to be the brave boy you are.

Harrison: Claire used to have a lucky charm when she was little, but she lost it. We could give her a new one, right, mom?

Phyllis: So, how did this little get-together come about?

Kyle: A happy coincidence.

Summer: Really?

Victoria: Claire and i were just out enjoying the beautiful day.

Claire: And we were lucky enough to run into these two.

Harrison: Claire and i fed the ducks.

Victoria: It’s nice to enjoy a little bit of nature.

Summer: Really nice you could fit all this in before going to the office.

Phyllis: I’d like to introduce myself. I’m harrison’s very protective grandma.

Jack: What do I have to say to you to convince you I regret what I did? The last thing I wanted was to upset you.

Diane: Oh, stop it, jack. You weren’t thinking about me at all. You acted so recklessly. You put yourself in so much danger. Without thinking about to the consequences to your family, or to your wife.

Jack: For which I am profoundly apologetic.

Diane: [ Sighs ] You know what? Your apology is hindsight. Your instinct was to put nikki first. Not me. Not your life. And I– I don’t know what to do with that.

Jack: And the answer is running away?

Diane: I am not running away. I’m doing what is best for us. I don’t want my anger to cause you to relapse.

Jack: What happened was a one-off. It was intentional. We don’t have to worry about me being hooked again. The only thing I am craving right now is a chance to regain your trust!

Diane: How can I not be concerned about your sobriety moving forward?

Jack: What, my word isn’t enough?

Diane: No! You say it was a one-off!

Jack: It was!

Diane: Yeah, but what if it wasn’t? What if you liked that feeling? Being high on pills.

Jack: Oh, come on, don’t do this.

Diane: Oh, no, no. Maybe saving nikki was just an excuse to feel that again. Or, maybe a test to see how strong you are against your old demons.

Jack: You are taking things out of context.

Diane: Well, what if I’m not? You keep saying how strong you are, but jack, this is unknown territory. And what– what if this tension between us is too much, and it puts a crack in all that strength of yours?

Jack: I get my strength from you. Your love gives me strength.

Diane: What about my anger? Hm? I don’t want to do anything that could put your sobriety at risk.

Jack: I had–

Diane: So, I think the best thing is for me to remove myself from this situation.

Jack: Diane, I–

Diane: I need my husband. And harrison needs his grandfather, healthy and present after everything he’s been through.

Jack: And your answer is to walk away?

Diane: No, I just… I just need time. To– to think about what’s happened. And to figure out what’s ahead. And you do too.

Jack: No, I don’T. I don’t need time. I know what I want. I want the two of us to find a way to work through this together.

Claire: It’s wonderful that harrison has so many people who love and protect him.

Phyllis: That’s what family does, right?

Victoria: I assume you’ve heard that claire is family as well?

Claire: Yes, I’m victoria’s–

Phyllis: I know who you are.

Victoria: I was telling clair earlier about all of the interesting characters around genoa city like katherine chancellor. But, I guess I failed to warn her about everyone in town.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] Well, that’s the thing with warnings around here, not everybody’s really paying attention to them.

Jordan: “Your choosing?” What, is this a damn chess game, now? Why don’t we just sit down and play some checkers? Get on with it.

Victor: I call the shots.

Jordan: Oh, that’s abundantly clear. But I would settle for just a little hint.

Victor: I don’t know. Considering the various options, you know. If I even decide to… go ahead with the project.

Victoria: I’m just happy that claire’s made a real friend.

Harrison: Let’s go to the playground!

Summer: Uh, you know what, honey, I actually think that we need to get you home for lunch.

Harrison: Can claire come too?

Claire: Uh, oh, I would really like to, but I have plans already. Maybe we can do it some other time.

Victoria: Yeah, we should get going.

Claire: Well, I will see you later, alligator.

Harrison: After a while, crocodile.

Victoria: Kyle, please just think about what we discussed earlier.

Phyllis: Well, harrison, why don’t you show me the playground? What do you think of that?

Harrison: Okay.

Phyllis: All right.

Summer: How could you do this to me?

Victor: I’ll let you know what I decide.

Jordan: Don’t you turn your back on me after dangling my freedom in front of me.

Victor: Just… a little distance away. Like your freedom, yeah?

Jordan: Oh, you’re a damn cruel bastard.

Victor: You make it easy. Now, isn’t that pretty?

Jordan: I need food! Not more vodka! Oh!

Victor: I decide what you’ll get. Now, cheers.

Jordan: Damn you, come back here!

[ Jordan panting ]

Diane: I hate that we’re even having this conversation.

Jack: I am totally to blame for this. What can I do to reassure you that I am– that I am okay? That our future together is safe?

Diane: All right, well, why don’t you go some 12 step meetings? No matter what the reason, you broke your sobriety. And you keep saying you have it under control, but you let that poison back into your system. And there’s no telling how, or when, it could become a craving that you can’t say no to.

Jack: You’re right. I will go to a meeting today. And tomorrow and the next day. Will that change your mind?

Diane: Jack, you can’t do it for me. It has to be for you, or what’s the point?

Jack: I know, it is for me. But I would be disingenuous if I didn’t say it is also for us, for our happiness.

Diane: You’ve always been very good at knowing exactly what to say.

Jack: It kills me that I have hurt you this deeply.

Diane: It’s going to take more than an apology for me to be okay with what happened.

Jack: Okay, I understand, but loving you and being loved in return have brought me more joy than I– I knew existed. That I would do something to destroy that… crushes my heart. Please, I’m asking you please, don’t leave.

Victoria: Oh, good, you’re here.

Cole: Hey. I didn’t expect you back from the park so soon. All the fun that claire and harrison were having, I thought that that would’ve spilled right over into lunch.

Victor: Yeah, well, then summer showed up and that was the end of that.

Cole: So, is she still tense with claire?

Victor: That’s putting it mildly.

Cole: What did she say?

Victor: Summer didn’t have to say anything. No, no, not at all. She was perfectly and excruciatingly polite. But she couldn’t wait to get harrison away from claire. It was infuriating, and insulting, and it didn’t help that phyllis showed up with her dragon breath to play back-up.

Cole: How did claire take all this? You know, I just– I just hate the thought of our daughter feeling unwelcome.

Victoria: She tried to take it in stride, but she shouldn’t have to.

Victor: Well, this is a pleasant surprise.

Cole: Hey, victor.

Victoria: There you are, daddy. Hi. Good to see you.

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Victoria: You know, I saw joan when I walked in, and she said that you were here, but she hadn’t seen you. Where were you at?

Victor: I just went down to the stables. To feed califa some carrots.

Victoria: Aw, that’s so nice. That’s something that you and mom would love to do on a day like today.

Victor: And hopefully, will do soon again, you know.

Victoria: Yeah. You know, I know that she needs to be in rehab right now, and I want nothing more for her to get better, but I miss her so much.

Victor: So do I. It’s very, very upsetting. Anyway, the two of you wanted to talk to me about something? Please sit down.

Victoria: Yes, thank you. Yes, cole and I, we were talking and we wanted to discuss something about claire’s future. We wanted to run it by you.

Victor: Sure.

Cole: Victor, I think that you’re aware of how much it meant to claire when she helped with the children at the hospital.

Victor: I heard that she read to some child.

Cole: Yes, yes. Exactly.

Victor: How sweet.

Cole: Yeah. You know, it gave claire such a sense of purpose. And she enjoyed it so much, she’s talking about finding a job working with kids.

Victor: Huh, wow.

Victoria: And as luck would have it, kyle and summer happen to be looking for a new nanny for harrison. Who adores claire and she loves the idea of working with him. And actually kyle seems very open to the idea as well.

Cole: It just seems like a perfect fit.

Victor: Huh. So, what’s the problem?

Victoria: Summer, actually. She’s still wary of claire and she’s having a problem overlooking her history. And I was thinking that maybe if you could, you know, talk to her about it. I know that she would listen to you and maybe if you could vouch that maybe, maybe summer would change her mind about it.

Victor: Hm. Well, I won’t do that.

Victoria: Why not?

Victor: As much as I would love to help claire, every which way, I do not want her to be subject to the toxicity of the abbott household.

“The darkness of bipolar

depression made me feel like

Diane: I’ve gotta get to the office. I have that presentation.

Jack: No, not like this. You’re upset.

Diane: You know, it’s just too much, okay? Harrison being kidnapped, and then all this mess with ashley. And then all–

[ Diane sighs ]

Jack: And then what?

Diane: Nothing. Nothing. It’ll work itself out.

Jack: No, let me help.

Diane: I– I’ve got it covered. So jack, you’ll– you’ll go to that 12 step meeting?

Jack: I will go to the meeting.

Diane: Okay.

Jack: Diane… please reassure me that we are in a slightly better place than we were when we started this conversation.

Diane: I still need time.

[ Door closing ]

Victoria: Okay, dad, I know there’s no love lost between you and jack, but claire would mostly be dealing with harrison.

Victor: Okay, I understand that, but she’d be in close proximity to both jack abbott and diane jenkins. Jack abbott’s a fool. Diane jenkins is an opportunist. Nothing more.

Victoria: Jack wasn’t partying with mom. He took those pill to shock some sense into her.

Victor: Cole, were you filled in on what happened?

Cole: Victoria told me everything.

Victor: Do you know how close they were to it becoming a total disaster? No, I don’t want claire to be subject to that, okay? I don’t want any of my family to have anything to do with the abbotts ever again.

Victoria: Okay, well we both know that summer is never gonna go along with that.

Victor: That’s another story, okay? Claire has no reason at all to involve herself with that family. Ever.

Kyle: Again, seeing claire was unplanned.

Summer: I got it. But you didn’t have to let him run off with her alone.

Kyle: Harrison was so happy to see her. He wanted to feed the ducks with her.

Summer: Oh yeah, and nothing bad could possibly happen to a small child near a large body of water.

Kyle: Okay, you’re blowing this out of proportion. They were barely out of sight.

Summer: The last time claire was barely out of sight with harrison, he was kidnapped.

Kyle: Summer, you can’t tell me you’re still holding onto the idea that she was involved in that.

Summer: I get it. She was a victim. But she’s still a reminder of everything that harrison went through, and he’s still recovering from the trauma.

Kyle: Yeah, and outings like today will help get things back to normal. Today, I saw a very happy little boy who totally bonded with someone who shared and survived a difficult experience with him.

Summer: Kyle, I was very clear on how I felt about claire spending time with our son.

Kyle: Yeah, and I couldn’t just blow her off once harrison saw her.

Summer: So, you blew me off instead? Just completely disregarded my feelings?

Kyle: Come on, summer.

Summer: No! Negotiating custody with you was difficult enough. I… I don’t know why you’re fighting me on this.

Kyle: I am not fighting you on it.

Summer: You are! I asked for one thing. That you keep claire away from harrison. I didn’t even insist that it be forever, even though that would suit me just fine.

Kyle: That’s hardly fair.

Summer: Do you realize that harrison’s not the only one that’s dealing with trauma? Kyle, every time I see her, I am right back in that place. Terrified that I’m never gonna see my son again. Desperate to find him. Maybe I need to not see claire’s face so that I can recover from the trauma too. I just, I really didn’t think that that was too much to ask. But did you– did you even try to respect my wishes?

Kyle: Summer, I wasn’t–

Summer: No, it was one day ago that I requested this of you. Were you even gonna tell me about this if I hadn’t run into you?

Kyle: I honestly didn’t think it was that huge a deal.

Summer: Right, so my feelings, what I want, just not a big deal to you.

Kyle: Okay. Don’t you think it would have been more upsetting to harrison if we ignored the friend he adores? That if we somehow treat claire as a villain, that it would be confusing to him?

Summer: It’s not that hard. All you had to do was say hi and keep moving.

Kyle: Understood. It’s over. Can we please be done talking about this?

Summer: Yeah, sure. We can be done talking about it. As soon as you tell me what victoria meant before she left. What was that about? (Vo) it’s shrimp your way.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Kyle: Uh, victoria just wants people to give her daughter a chance.

Summer: That’s great. Doesn’t have to be us.

Kyle: You say that like we’re two random people on the street. You two are cousins, family. I mean, after everything claire’s been through, victoria’s just trying to protect her daughter like you were trying to protect harrison.

Summer: Harrison’s a child, kyle. Claire’s an adult. She can take care of herself. She has the entire newman family to show her love. She does not need you getting involved and dragging our son into it.

Kyle: At the risk of you shoving me into the lake, you’re overreacting.

Summer: So, that’s just it? You’re making unilateral decisions now? No more co-parenting, no more respecting each other’s wishes when it comes to raising our son? You’re just gonna ignore all of my boundaries when it comes to harrison from here on out?

Phyllis: Hey, guys, sorry to interrupt. Um, this little guy wants lunch. I’ll take him if you’d like.

Kyle: No, I’ve got it. How about a dad-style grilled cheese?

Harrison: Yeah.

Kyle: Yeah, let’s do it. We’ll finish this conversation later.

Summer: Oh, I’m gonna come to the house with you just in case claire decides to stop by for another surprise visit.

Victoria: I don’t think we should just dismiss this idea of her being harrison’s nanny just because you’re angry with jack.

Victor: Look, I have my own idea about my granddaughter’s future, all right?

Cole: You do?

Victoria: Oh, yeah, of course. I should have seen this coming.

Cole: Uh, well, does someone want to clue me in?

Victoria: Dad wants for claire what he wants for his children and his grandchildren, of course, to be a part of his legacy.

Victor: My idea is that the best use of claire’s intelligence and skills would be to follow in your footsteps. So, whenever you return to newman, she could become your assistant.

Victoria: Well, there’s a major problem with that.

Victor: What’s the problem?

Victoria: I haven’t decided if or when I will even return to newman.

[ Diane sighs ]

Diane: Not today.

Phyllis: I haven’t even said anything.

Diane: Yeah, well, whatever it is, I don’t want to hear it.

Phyllis: I want to talk to you about kyle.

Diane: What is it?

Phyllis: I just saw him at the park with harrison and claire. I got a problem with kyle.

Diane: Well, stand in line.

Phyllis: Are we possibly on the same side? Do you share summer’s concerns?

Diane: Summer’s concerns?

Phyllis: Yeah, with claire, victoria’s daughter. Um, I thought at first summer was being a little overprotective and high-strung about the whole thing. But, uh, yeah, I just saw them at the park with my own eyes. Claire’s being all palsy-walsy with harrison is very inappropriate. This is, you know, right after harrison was kidnapped by her aunt. I just think it’s weird. That’s all.

Diane: Well, claire was just as much a victim of jordan’s as harrison.

Phyllis: Um, yeah, whatever.

[ Phyllis sighs ] Don’t you think it’s weird? Someone with claire’s history. She just got out the psych ward, diane. That she’s spending so much time with harrison, a sweet, vulnerable little boy. I mean, what exactly is that about? (Vo) you might be used to living with your albuterol asthma

Victor: You’re not returning to newman? You can’t mean that.

Victoria: Not anytime soon, at least.

Victor: Don’t you realize that claire’s just in the process of finding herself? And you should damn well come back to newman, for heaven’s sake.

Victoria: Daddy, I want to focus on claire. I want to get to know her better. I mean, this is all just still so new.

Cole: With jordan dead, along with her threats, this is a chance for us to really help claire settle in with her new life. To help her figure out just what her purpose is going forward.

Victoria: The kids are going to be home soon. I want her to know them. I’ve got to prep her for that.

Victor: None of that prevents claire from working at newman enterprises. And none of that prevents you from coming back. I want claire to have a structured life. A job where she has fun, where she’s excited, she’s challenged. That’s the way you have felt at newman enterprises ever since you’ve worked here.

Victoria: But claire isn’t me and I want her to do what makes her happy.

Victor: Oh, come on now. This damn nanny job, what the hell kind of job is that? That’s not a long-term job. That’s not how you plan your future. She belongs at newman. With you. As your assistant. And I don’t want her anywhere near jack abbott.

Cole: Why not?

Victor: Because I said so.

Victoria: Dad?

Victor: What?

Victoria: Are you planning some kind of retaliation against jack for what happened to mom?

Victor: That son of a bitch almost ruined your mother’s life.

[ Summer chuckles ]

Kyle: Oh. You really didn’t need to come.

Summer: Well, there’s no place I’d rather be. Hanging out with my favorite little guy.

[ Summer laughs ] Jack. Didn’t expect to see you home on a work day.

Kyle: Dad’s working from home today. You all right?

Jack: Yeah, how could I not be? My favorite grandson just walked in. How were things at the park?

Harrison: We fed the ducks.

Jack: Oh, lucky ducks.

Harrison: You’re funny.

Summer: And now I think it’s time for someone to feed himself. Ready for that grilled cheese?

Harrison: Yes.

Summer: Let’s go.

Kyle: Dad, are you sure you’re all right?

Jack: Yeah, I’ll be fine.

Kyle: Hey, you know I know you pretty well. Putting me off only makes me try harder.

Jack: I don’t want to drag you into all this.

Kyle: Too late. I’ve never seen mom this upset with you. I want to help.

Jack: Your mother’s dealing with a lot of stress right now. Harrison’s kidnapping took a lot out of all of us. She’s still struggling. She’s on edge.

Kyle: That might be part of it. But you did almost die last night.

Jack: And I’m sorry she told you about those details.

Kyle: And I’m glad she did. The idea that we almost lost you… dad, thank god we didn’T. It makes sense that mom’s upset, but her anger towards you… the hurt? I mean, it’s next level. Is there something else you need to tell me? Is your relationship in trouble? Because if it is, I hope you know you can talk to me about it.

Diane: Phyllis, I just don’t want to get into this with you right now.

Phyllis: Oh, wow. Okay, I’m sorry. I’m expressing concern about our youngest family member, our grandbaby. So how awful of me, right?

Diane: No, you are stirring up trouble because you just can’t help yourself and you’ve decided that claire is your latest target.

Phyllis: We could have a situation on our hands.

Diane: We don’T. You have no restraint, no boundaries. Well, I am drawing one right now.

Phyllis: Claire could be a threat to harrison.

Diane: Or not. You know what? My family just went through a terrifying ordeal, and we’ve had enough drama, so why don’t you just stay in your own lane?

Phyllis: Um, summer’s my daughter, so I’m very much in my lane. She needs to know what her kid is up against.

Diane: Well, apparently you and your daughter have already decided that claire is a problem. Why don’t you give her the benefit of the doubt?

Phyllis: Are you kidding me? Her aunt is a lunatic. In and out of the psych ward? This girl could be a psycho in training for all we know.

Diane: Oh, my god, phyllis, do you hear these words coming out of your mouth? You and I have both been seen as psychos at different points of our lives. Oh, yes, we have. So all this finger pointing, it’s not a good look for either of us. ()

Phyllis: Listen, you, before you go off on me, from somebody who’s been epically demonized and criticized for my truth, I really wanted to see claire’s point of view.

Diane: It all comes back to you.

Phyllis: I understood claire. You know, empathized with her. I really did. And I told summer, stop being so overreactive, take a step back, don’t judge her, but… honestly, this girl… tried to kill her family. She’s a wild card.

Diane: She was brainwashed, and she’s gotten help, and the newmans have welcomed her with open arms.

Phyllis: Yeah, but the newmans are adults who can fend for themselves with a wild card. Harrison cannot do that.

Diane: Yeah, but it’s not up to you.

[ Phyllis sighs ]

Phyllis: Listen, I wish, I wish that claire’s completely rehabilitated. I really do. But that doesn’t mean she has to be involved with our grandson.

Diane: I really don’t see that happening.

Phyllis: Hey, did you know that kyle thought it was a super-duper idea to have claire be harrison’s nanny?

Diane: What?

Phyllis: Yeah!

Diane: Kyle wouldn’t put his son in danger.

Phyllis: Oh, really? Well, listen to this. Summer wanted to err on the side of caution, so she politely requested to kyle to keep that woman away from her son, and guess what happened?

Diane: I don’t know, but you’re dying to tell me.

Phyllis: Yeah, I was just at the park, and um, kyle was there with harrison and claire. They’re out there looking at ducks or something, despite summer’s very, very reasonable request to keep claire away from harrison.

Diane: All right, phyllis, this is up to kyle and summer to figure out.

Phyllis: I know, but you see, kyle doesn’t really care what summer has to say, so now we have to intervene. You and me, and possibly jack.

Diane: No, no, no, no, that’s enough. We are not going to intervene about any of this, and I am not about to tell jack about it either.

Phyllis: What is going on with you?

Diane: Nothing. I am– I am late for a meeting at the office.

Jack: Your mother feels I went too far, chose to put my life on the line to save nikki, of all people, and needless to say, that didn’t sit well.

Kyle: You saw a friend who needed help. You did what you thought you had to do to save her. I understand why you did it, even if I hate you took the risk.

Jack: I know it seems extreme, but I just felt I had no options.

Kyle: Mom doesn’t feel that way.

Jack: No, she does not.

Kyle: And she’s really broken up about it. Playing into all the what-ifs, how it could have gone wrong, even if it didn’T.

Jack: I understand her upsets. I regret hurting her, I really do, but some part of me wants to think she will eventually understand why I did what I did.

Kyle: What if that doesn’t happen?

Jack: When I walked in on the two of you earlier, you seemed to be dealing with a lot more than her anger toward me. When I talked with her later, she brought up another thing that was bothering her. Could you perhaps be that other thing?

Kyle: Mom’s convinced herself that I am trying to undermine her at work. I try to help her when she makes mistakes, but instead of seeing it as teamwork or showing gratitude, she accuses me of being out to get her.

Jack: She’s not making mistakes, kyle. Her work has been impeccable. You are the one creating this scenario.

Kyle: That makes no sense.

Jack: It makes sense if you are still feeling resentful about my choosing your mother over you for the ceo position.

Victor: I am not planning a damn thing, all right? I want to protect my granddaughter as I protect everyone in this family. Jack abbott is this far away from being addicted again. What if he starts popping pills? Do you think I want claire near that?

[ Victoria sighs ]

Cole: Okay, well, I guess we know where he stands.

Victoria: Classic dad.

Cole: Now listen, is this really about jack being sober or not?

Victoria: I think this is about jack being the reason that mom is serious about getting sober.

Cole: All right, is it passive resentment or is it something else?

Victoria: There’s definitely nothing passive about this. Dad can deny it all he wants, but he is definitely planning something and he doesn’t want us anywhere near the abbotts when it happens.

Jordan: Victor! Victor! Tell me what you want and let me out of here!

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Sally: How do you know when it’s finally time to cut and run?

Alan: Well, I’m afraid it’s worse than I thought. There’s obviously more than one personality at play here, and the one I just spoke to is… rather concerning.

Lily: I have been very loyal to jill, and this is a complete betrayal. So, we have to respond accordingly.

Nate: You do realize she’s going to explode when we do this, right?

Devon: I don’t care. She dropped a bomb on us and we’re going to return the favor.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

thank you so much for all this. I, um — I guess we should probably finish it up and get on our way? You in a hurry? ‘Cause I’m not. I — I like having you here. I enjoy your company. Well, I have a personal belief that no one should ever have to dine alone. Well, lucky me.

[ Laughs ] The ties between pikeman and the wsb go back to your early days as an agent, anna, in the ’80s. I can tell you flat out I’ve never had anything to do with pikeman. Jack brennan, who — who ended his rather brief tenure as head of the wsb by being shipped off to pentonville — he could tell you more. It’s alleged that he was running both pikeman and wsb. Unless you think that I’m the new head of pikeman and that, by packing him off to prison, I was making a big power grab. Anything is possible.

[ Knock on door ] Come in.

[ Door opens ] You wanted to see me, commissioner? I did, yes. Um, I just wanted to check in, you know, since it was my bright idea to have you apply for the police academy. Detective bennett — he thinks that your performance in class and training exercise is outstanding. So I just wanted to check in with you personally. Uh, first of all, I want to thank you. It would have never occurred to me to become a police officer, but every day I’m more certain that this is where I’m supposed to be. Why do you feel certain? The men and women in my class are exceptional. I’m very proud to stand next to them. Ah. And the other officers — you know, the rank and file — how’s that going? Uh, it’s getting better, mostly thanks to detective chase. He’s really gone out of his way to take me under his wing and smooth the way a bit. Oh, good. Yes, yes. He’s very well liked and well respected, so I’m sure that the other officers will trust his judgment. That’s good. Uh, he invited me to his wedding tomorrow. Ah. Can you attend? Wouldn’t miss it. Mm. My sentiments exactly, yeah. I’m sure I’ll run into you there. Will that be all, commissioner? One other thing. Have you had any interaction with detective falconeri? Hey. Sorry for making you wait. Hey. What’s going on? Dante, you’re not gonna believe it. What? I finally got some answers from jason about what he’s been up to the last few years. Jason is an fbi informant. Mr. Morgan. The fbi has some questions for you. Yeah? Well, you don’t have to follow official procedure, cates. Nobody’s here but us. I still have questions. Why was carly visiting the former director of the wsb in pentonville? What did you tell her?

what did you say to carly? Did you mention pikeman or brennan to her? No. Then why did she drive out to pentonville? I don’t know. This is the first time I’m hearing about it. Why was she visiting brennan of all people? What was she hoping to find out? I just told you, I don’t know. If you even hinted to carly that you’ve been tasked with finding evidence against pikeman, it violates our agreement. I only took the agreement to protect carly. Why would I turn around and give her information that puts her at risk? Well, I could just sit here all day — if I didn’t have a dozen phone calls to make. I know how that goes. I would imagine you’re a pretty busy man. Okay. I know you were waiting for someone when I showed up. Who would have the audacity to stand you up? Well, I didn’t get stood up. It’s just — it was ava, you know, the one that you met at my place. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I brought her here. I said something she didn’t like, and she got upset. She stormed off. So, um… she missed out, but, uh, I didn’T. Well, it was a lovely meal. And the conversation was equally so. It’s amazing how that works.

[ Laughs ] Do you think things will have calmed down by the time you get home?

My home, not ava’S. You see, I brought her and my daughter, avery, to my home because — basically, for avery’s sake. But at first it worked out, and now it’S… not really. Yeah. No, I get it. I get it. I mean, when a relationship is ending or transitioning, that’s hard enough, but when kids are involved, it’s just so complicated. Sounds like you’ve been through it. Yeah, well, my husband and I are separated. Ah. That’s alison’s father. And then I have son from a previous relationship. Remember I told you that my family’s complicated? Mm. Mm-hmm. Life’s a long and winding road.

[ Groans ] Full of all kinds of paths and forks not taken. Ugh. [ Laughs ] Well, I do hope that — that it’s a little calmer when you get back. Well, either that or, you know, I’m gonna go home to an empty apartment.

[ Laughs ] Ava could be packing as we speak. But as long as we — we sip this coffee really slowly… it will give her enough time, you know?

[ Laughing ] Okay. Some of the print on this bottle has rubbed off. I’m planning an extensive trip, and I just want to know how many refills are left for my husband’s prescription of lorphenadine. We’re gonna be out of the country, you see, and I think maybe we should be stocking up. Actually, I wouldn’t mind a little more information about the drug itself. Well, normally, I wouldn’t disclose this information, but since you’ve gone to all this trouble, I can at least take a little look. Mm. Dante and I haven’t had much interaction. I think we both have the same avoidance strategy. Is he icing you out? No, nothing like that. He nods hello when I walk through the squad room, but otherwise he pretends I’m not there. So, you say you have, uh, the same avoidance strategy. Why are you avoiding him? Dante is senior detective. He also just got shot in the line of duty. He’s highly respected here. But he’s also sonny’s son. And everyone here knows I worked for sonny for more than a year. So if we get seen together too much, people might think we’re working together on sonny’s behalf. A lot of people already suspect me of that, so why put it on dante? Do you have any reservations about dante, like maybe… suspicions that he might act on his father’s behalf? Look, I’m only telling you until we figure out what to do with this information. Jason saved my life. He… he must have been with the shooter when they were trying to take out sonny. That’s got to be the reason why the sniper missed. Jason said that he has been working undercover while he’s been away, that he’s been working under an assumed identity. Still? He’s working undercover? What’s he doing right now? I don’t know his exact role, but he’s working with agent john cates. Oh, my god. What? My god. Sam, I-I-I — I knew this. I already knew that jason was an fbi informant. What do you mean? How? My father told me.

mr. Corinthos has four refills left. Mm. That’s what I thought. I just wanted to be sure. As per usual, I’ll call the prescribing doctor when it’s time to renew unless I hear anything else. So, will that be all, mrs. Corinthos? As you know, my husband just started taking this new drug. I do have some concerns about it. Really? Well, um… um, lorphenadine was recently approved by the fda, but it’s highly effective and safe in combination with other drugs like lithium in the treatment of bipolar disorder. Uh, have you discussed your concerns with his doctor? Not yet. I didn’t want it to seem like I’m undermining the doctor. Sonny is very comfortable with him. I’m sure it’s fine. I do wonder, though, what would happen if a patient, for whatever reason, didn’t take the medication as prescribed or took less than the prescribed dosage. Because, as I’m sure you know, mistakes do happen. Maybe you should go home and talk to ava and try to resolve things. You know what? I was being flip. Ava’s fine. We just got in a stupid argument. Mm. I was invited to go to some social event. She wasn’t invited. I couldn’t push it because it was the bride’s family calling the shots. It was a wedding, right? So then I didn’t even know ava wanted to go, and then she says she wants to go. I made it clear — “you can’t go.” And then she, you know, got upset, stormed off, like I said, and that’s basically that. Yeah. I mean, but I get it. I empathize. You know, it’s a pretty terrible feeling, feeling like you’re being excluded. Who would exclude you?

[ Both laugh ] Well, thank you, but… come on. …Um, you know, I am a newbie in a new town, and it’s a town that’s got a very tight-knit social set. So, you know… alison’s going to her manager’s wedding, and, you know, she might even be performing. I don’t even know. And so, you know, obviously, kristina is her plus one, so I miss out. Brook lynn quartermaine’s wedding? Mm-hmm. That’s what I was talking about.

[ Laughs ] Everything you’ve done up until this point has been for carly, so it doesn’t make any sense you’d involve her in this. I wouldn’T. Well, that leaves us with a big problem. Why was carly at pentonville? Could carly and brennan have some kind of understanding? No. I doubt that. They know each other. Brennan was arrested at bobbie’S. Well, then it was kelly’S. Carly was the only other person there. She never said anything about this? I never asked. Ask her now. Why? Before he was incarcerated, jack brennan was career wsb. He rose all the way to director. It can’t be a coincidence that he lands in port charles and starts cultivating sonny’s ex-wife. Carly must be useful to him somehow. Or — and this seems much less likely — he’s of use to her. Either way, it’s in both of our best interests to find out. I’ll leave it to you to figure out how. Do you think dante might be protecting sonny? I asked you first. No. No. Not consciously, anyway. But he might have an unconscious bias in sonny’s favor. I saw enough of their relationship when I worked for sonny to know that he and dante are close. Sonny was estranged from michael, so he relied on dante, even though he was a cop. I’ve seen them interact as family. They’re easy and relaxed around each other. They trust each other. I don’t think dante would deliberately look the other way if sonny committed a crime. But I do think maybe, when dante looks at sonny, he — he just sees what he wants to. Mm. Thank you for your perspective. Yeah. To be clear, I think dante is an incredible officer. He’s the kind of cop that I want to be. Yeah. There’s no one better you could emulate. No one. Okay, that’s all. Thank you.

[ Door closes ]

[ Cellphone ringing ] Yeah. Hi. What’s up? Alright. I’m coming over. Wait. You knew that jason was working for the fbi and you didn’t say anything to me? I didn’t remember. It just hit me with all the things you were saying. I-I — I don’t know. I mean, I was out of it in the hospital. I’d just woken up. I don’t know who I saw or what I said. Well, I hope you remember me. Of course I remember you. But now I remember sonny was there. He came into my room. He told me that, yeah, jason was working as an informant for the fbi. And then jason came in my room and told me the same thing. It must have been these meds. Okay, well, that actually tracks to what jason said because he said that he and sonny aren’t close anymore. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that sonny would actually think that jason would turn his back on him. Well, yeah, if he’s working for agent cates, sonny would consider that betrayal.

[ Exhaling sharply ] Joss. Hi. What are you doing here? I’m, uh, obviously working out.

[ Chuckles ] Um, I just heard about the challenge, the, um, stadium run without the stadium. You want to race? Only if I get a head start. You’re already warmed up. Absolutely not. Hey, no cheating! You know, agent cates and I — we didn’t get off to such a hot start. I didn’t trust him. He didn’t trust me. He said he was trying to protect sonny. I didn’t believe that for a second. Well, yeah, because why would the fbi be protecting a mob boss? Although I-I believe it, though, but I think it’s probably secondary to whoever’s behind those hits. This is bigger than my father. You know, these four crime lords that were taken out — big cities, major transportation hubs. Some sort of smuggling ring? I’ve been doing some digging on my own. And what sticks out — these were not mob hits. I know it’s last minute, uh, but I do have a plus one. If you want to go to the wedding with me, I’d love to take you. Uh — wait, what?

[ Laughs ] That is just so — that’s so generous. But I don’t want to impose. I mean, this is — especially at this late date. You met lois. Yeah. She’s a close friend of mine. All I got to do is tell her that I’m bringing somebody else. Unless you don’t — you don’t want to be seen with me.

[ Laughs ] And I understand. No, it’s just so, um — I mean, are you sure? Uh, yes. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have asked. We can be like a mom and dad posse for both of our children. They’ll love that.

[ Both laugh ] Um… yes. Alright. Yeah. I accept with pleasure. Thank you so much.

[ Laughs ] Okay, wait a minute. Um… that means I need to come up with a dress, shoes, and I got to somehow talk my way into a hair salon appointment, so I think — so I’m out of here.

[ Laughs ] Alright. I’ll let you know what time… okay. …And the whole thing. Alright. And thank you again. I mean, honestly, thank you again for everything, the lovely meal, the — your thoughtfulness. I’m just — I’m really looking forward to tomorrow. So, bye for now. Alright. Yeah. Thank you. I assure you I take quality control very seriously. I’m sure you do. But we’re all human. It seems you’re concerned about your husband’s dosage. Well, I don’t stand over my husband and make sure he takes his medication on time. What if he doesn’t? What if he takes less than the prescribed dosage? What if he skips? Could his behavior change? For example, could he become aggressive? Or even violent? That would depend on his behavior patterns when he’s not medicated. Symptoms could return, but that’s beyond my scope. I’m a pharmacist. I’m not a physician. I was hoping you could ease my mind before the big trip. Well, uh, what I can tell you is that it’s important a person on mood-stabilization medication take their medication regularly. And while unmedicated bipolar disorder may manifest in behavioral issues, people generally don’t become ax murderers overnight.

[ Chuckles ] That’s good. Ax murders are, uh, definitely to be avoided.

[ Chuckles ] Have you noticed any change in your husband’s behavior? Why do you ask? Well, if you’re worried about him not taking his dosage, you should speak with him — and his doctor. That’s not necessary. You know, this is a new drug and all, and I had some — some questions about it, so I thought I’d — I’d come to the expert. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain things to me. Thank you for all you continue to do for my husband. I’m glad I could help. And good luck with the trip. Hey. Hey. Thanks for coming. Yeah. What’s so urgent? Okay, so, I need all the information that you have on brennan’s arrest here in port charles. Oh, it was relatively uneventful, you know? Dante and I — we made the arrest at bobbie’S. Yeah. Was carly there? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Why? Did she say something to you about it? No. No. Cates did. That’s strange. Well, he was asking why carly would visit brennan at pentonville. She did what? Wait. He didn’t tell you? No. God. I don’t know. John is not very big on sharing. But then that’s fine because there’s a lot about this supposedly joint investigation that I haven’t been sharing with him. More to the point, it’s actually very concerning that carly would visit brennan. Why exactly? Because when we made the arrest, it looked as if brennan was going to kidnap her. The man had zip ties in his pocket. I mean, this is months ago, but why would she suddenly take it upon herself to go see him now?

[ Sighs ] There’s only one thing I can think of. She thinks she’s helping me.

Whew! Okay. Okay. That’s nice. You know, for a second there, I thought you were gonna let me win. Oh, and face your wrath? Well, thank you for respecting me enough to beat me. Two out of three? No way, no. Okay. It’s a good thing you’re not at the academy. You would kill yourself trying to finish first in everything. Like you don’t finish first in everything. Well, not everything. No, false modesty, please.

[ Breathes deeply ] It’s going good, though? It’s — it’s all good? Yeah. Yeah, things are good. I had to face down a lot of people’s doubts, including my own, but… it turns out if you stick with things and don’t walk away, they get better. Why would carly think she was helping you by going to see brennan? Well, a couple days ago, I was with carly. John shows up. And carly wanted to call diane. I said, “don’T. I’ll take care of it. Just leave.” Well, she didn’t want to leave. So, I’m sure she found a spot to eavesdrop in on our conversation.

[ Sighs ] Which was what? Which was john talking a lot about brennan and pikeman and possible ties with sonny. John didn’t mention you working for pikeman, did he? I made sure he didn’t just in case carly was listening. Oh, thank god you know her so well. Alright, so, what do you think it’s likely that she overheard john say? Well, he went on to talk about brennan being arrested with a pikeman guy. Yeah. Hume. Oh, no. Ohh. God. I hope you’re wrong about this. Because if carly knows that the fbi is investigating this pikeman/brennan connection and she inadvertently gives brennan that information, then she just made our job exponentially harder. These four crime figures that were taken out — it wasn’t by rivals or disgruntled lieutenants. It was all done the same way — long-range, professional, clean sniper shots. Which backs up your belief that jason did something to prevent the sniper from killing sonny. Right. The other thing is, these — these bosses that were taken out — it’s not like the organizations collapsed afterwards. The next in line took over with almost no interruption to the organizations, which tells me that this wasn’t to cause chaos or some kind of takeover from outside forces. So, if not that, then what was it for? I’m definitely not gonna lose any sleep over any dead mob bosses, but I do care about sonny. And I know that you care about him, too. And, dante, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but I — I care about jason, too. And I believe him when he said that he didn’t stay away voluntarily, that he was coerced. And I think that we should help him. Actually, I — I want to help him, dante. Danny can’t lose his father again.

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Exhales heavily ]

[ Sighs ] Surprised to see you here since you stormed off at the restaurant. Oh, yeah, I’m — I’m really sorry about that, sonny. It was so silly of me to let my feelings get hurt over a social event. You know, of course I understand why the cerullos and falconeris don’t want me there. That’s the point I was trying to make, ava! I know. I know. I realize that.

[ Sighs ] I’m embarrassed, actually. I like to think I have pretty thick skin, and I do with most people, but… not with you lately. Sonny, I’m — I’m so appreciative of how we’ve been able to connect and come to trust each other. I really care about our relationship. And that’s why, for avery’s sake, it is time for me to move out.

So, how’s school? You on summer break yet? Just about. Um, I’ve turned in most of my labs and my papers. I have a few exams left. But I actually just got a new summer job at the metro court. I’m gonna be a lifeguard there. That’s more fun than working at the front desk. Yeah, I know, right? I hope it’s fun. I just thought you’d have some high-powered internship lined up. Well, I’ve thought about it, but, um, I’m actually in the middle of switching my major. I’m glad you figured it out. So, what do you want? For your major. Oh, um, well, I’ll be taking some of the same labs and classes as last year, just with a different concentration — environmental science. Sounds like a good fit. God, really? I feel like I’m so late to change my major.

[ Sighs ] Just trust yourself, joss. I have no doubt that you could save the entire planet if you set your mind to it. Are you sure this sudden need to move out has nothing to do with what happened earlier? Yes and no. Once I cooled down, I realized that the most important thing here is the — the friendship that we’ve developed over these last months. Yeah. I really value that, sonny. Plus, I don’t want to ever put avery in the stressful situation of watching her parents fighting, right? So, it’ll take me a few days to find the right living situation for the two of us, one that meets the terms of our shared custody agreement, of course. Is this really what you want, ava, is you want another place? Well, I was looking for a place of my own… right. …After I sold wyndemere, right? And then you wanted us here when we were under threat. But that threat seems to be gone. And I’m starting to feel like I’m overstaying my welcome. Did I ever say that, ava? No. Then don’t put words in my mouth. I like having avery here, taking her to school, putting her to bed, um… what about me? What about you? I like having people around. I like — you know, I like the company. But just so you know, I didn’t ask you to leave. That was your call. So, if you want to… get a place… I’ll help you get a place. But just for the record… …I like the way things are. I hope you understand why I want to help jason. Of course I do, baby. You have a history together. He’s danny’s father. I’m not — look, I’m not threatened by any of that stuff. Danny is a big part of this, but it’s more than that. When you were in the hospital and I found out that jason was on that roof and everyone thought he was the shooter — I thought he was the shooter — I was so angry and cold to him. I was just so terrified that I was gonna lose you. I wanted someone to pay, and I had lost all faith in jason. So you want to make amends. You want to help. Yeah. I mean, I suppose I do. I know that jason loves danny. And danny has obviously formed some sort of a bond with jason. It’s just that danny needs his father in his life. 100% he does. He needs his father. And I feel like I owe jason. I just don’t know how to help him. Well, we’re gonna figure that out together… uh-huh. …’Cause that’s what we do. Mm. The thing is, I don’t know what this is. Like, this can’t be just a simple undercover operation the fbi has got jason doing. Okay. Well, we need to figure out exactly what it is that the fbi has on jason. So far, the fbi has been under the radar. And you being found out to be who you are didn’t actually rattle pikeman’s cages too much. Yeah, well, cates thinks they’ll still target me ’cause I know too much. Pikeman obviously doesn’t know that you were with the fbi. So that’s a good thing, at least.

[ Sighs ] And you are absolutely certain? You never told carly that you were undercover with pikeman? No, absolutely not. I want her to stay out of this. Yeah, well, that ship’s sailed. Alright. So, in all probability, brennan now knows that the fbi is on his trail, which means that we’re blown. And that’s a big problem ’cause brennan’s tentacles — they reach from pentonville to pikeman to wsb to god knows where. Are you afraid of this guy? Brennan’s a bit of a charmer, you know. Very smooth. Yeah. But behind those sparkling eyes is a mind constantly working, processing, reading everything, everyone in the room. He is very smart. He’s very shrewd. And we all learned as trainees that the most dangerous weapon was to give brennan information of any kind. Okay. So, what do we do now? We just wait for him to make a move? How do we know he’s gonna make a move? He will. He will? Yeah. He’ll find his target, and then he’ll act. And the fbi won’t know what hit them. I think what we need to do is find out exactly what carly told brennan. Cates said the same thing. There’s one problem. I can’t be the one to do it.

So, I thought I would escape taking bio chem by switching to environmental science, when, actually, I have to still take environmental chem, which is just as difficult, and I have to do all of the papers, all of the labs,

and I have to get my master’s after my undergrad degree. There’s no escaping it. You’re gonna have to be awesome. Thank you. And thank you for what you said earlier. It means a lot. I should go. Yeah. Me too. Um… hey, joss. It was really good to see you. It was really good to see you. Take care. Thank you, sonny. I know avery wants to stay, and… so do I. And, you know, I realized something. I’ve let myself become a bit of a recluse since the nikolas thing. And after I sold wyndemere, I wanted a fresh start, but, really, other than the gallery, I don’t get out too much.

[ Chuckles ] I guess that’s why I made the assumption about brook lynn’s wedding. Well, you don’t have to be cooped up in here or the gallery all the time. You should get out, have fun. I mean, you were always the social type. You don’t have to crimp your style on my account.

[ Laughing ] That’s — that’s some solid advice. Thank you. So, is there anything I can do to help you get ready for the wedding? I can get you a tie or I can get a gift. How about a painting from the gallery, even? Cash is king. There’s a lot of ties that I don’t even wear, so… mm. But thank you for that. How about I give you a ride? I can drop you off. I can pick you up. That way, frank doesn’t have to waste the day waiting around outside the wedding and the reception. No, I can drive myself. Besides, blaze’s mother is coming as my plus one. Oh. Natalie, right? Natalia. Yeah, blaze and kristina are going, so I thought it would be nice to include blaze’s mother. That’s very generous of you.

[ Laughs ] Yeah. Hey. Alright. I get you want to help. It’s important to you. It’s important to danny. And — and please don’t get angry at me for saying this, but I think you should stay out of it. Wait a minute. You just said that you have some digging of your own to do, which means you don’t know the whole story. No, I don’T. I don’T. But I can tell it’s a delicate situation. And you get involved with cates and the feds, and then maybe you’re in the line of fire and — look, there’s — there’s nothing you can do. Oh, no, I have a hard time accepting “there’s nothing you can do” as a policy. But you’re carly’s best friend. Who better than you to find out what she knows and what she’s done? You just answered your own question. Carly can read me like a book. If I question her, she knows something’s up. And even if I mention brennan, that’s it. She’ll decide she can help me by working him for information. Oh, god. We don’t want that. No, she cannot suspect anything more than she already does. So we have to find a way to stop carly from doing anything else to help me. Alright. Well, if you can’t question her, then… I’ll have to talk to her myself.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

I don’t want to hear any excuses, Rolf. I want those DNA results now. Well, how much longer do you need? Okay, well, the second you get them, let me know. Oh, damn it. What? Oh, some greeting. Sloan, what the hell do you want? Did you get the test results yet? I’m working on it. I told you the truth, EJ. Jude is Eric and Nicole’s biological child.

But hey, run all the tests you want. Oh, believe me, I will. Well, when you find out that I was right, do me a favor and ask yourself this one question. Do I really want to test the strength of my relationship with Nicole by her finding out the truth?

Aren’t you worried that she’ll go running back to Eric the minute she finds out they created a child together? Thanks for letting me know. Uh, if you need anything else, um, Just give me a call, okay? There they are, two of my favorite ladies. Uh, who are your other favorites? Well, my daughter Sydney, of course, and my mother, whom I have called for Mother’s Day, otherwise I wouldn’t hear the end of it.

So, are we ready? Yes, sir. I’m ready for some eggs benny and strawberry cheesecake. Ooh, that is quite the combination. Uh, are you sure you’re okay going to the bistro? Yeah, no, the restaurant didn’t have anything to do with what happened on New Year’s Eve. I was actually really enjoying my time with, with everyone before what happened.

Well, shall we? Yes. Ladies first. Hi. Ah! My goodness, such nice manners, my son.

Maybe you did a good job on me after all. Maybe I did. I know you were doubting him there for a while. Yeah, well, doubt, you know, kind of goes with the job description. As a parent, I gave your grandmother lots of things to wonder about how, uh, she went wrong with me in my teens. In my twenties. In my thirties.

She never gave up on you. Just like you never give up on me. Never. You are my one and only son. And I will always be there for you. And I’m always gonna fight for what is best for you. Even if you and I don’t agree on what that is.

This is for you, Mommy. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you so much. Art loves you too. He made you that picture. Dad and I talked about bringing her, but she’s too young to understand. Maybe next year. But it’s okay. Dad says you’re not really here. You’re in our hearts, so that’s good, because that means I have you with me wherever I go.

Yes, you do. We all do. Happy Mother’s Day, Abby.

Happy Mother’s Day, Grandma.

I know you’re here all the time watching over us. I know you saw the fire. And I know you see me doing my best to rebuild your home. Beautiful house. Trying to make it everything it always was.

You know, it would be a help if you could give me just a hint on how to open the time capsule. It’s driving me crazy.

Anyway,

I know mothers besides you in heaven with all the saints and the angels. Where you belong.

Julie? Happy Mother’s Day. And the same to you, Paulina. Not feeling like such a wonderful mother these days, but,

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Especially not today. The children adore you. As do your grandchildren.

As does everyone who knows you, Paulina.

Bless you for saying that, Julie.

Bless you. Well, I’m glad you two had a great day. Yeah, that place is pretty cool, isn’t it? What? Come on, it’s dinner in a cave. Okay, okay, um, I get it, I get it. Well, tell Sid I say hi, okay? Uh, no, no, nothing new to report here. I will. Okay. Happy Mother’s Day, by the way. Mom. Yeah, I love you too. Ciao. How’s your mom?

She’s great. Yeah, I, uh, I made reservations at Trattoria Luvi, which is this exclusive restaurant in Amalfi. I’ve m mo’d Sid the money to take her. Oh, what a good son. Well, you know, I try. Hey, speaking of which, aren’t you You about to be late to meet your mom for lunch? Um, actually, I decided to cancel. Why?

Are you feeling okay? Yeah, I’m fine. It’s just, God, this is gonna sound awful. I just, I can’t take seeing my mom today.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Doesn’t sound awful. You’re just being honest. Yeah, but I still feel guilty. You know, Mama, she’s like this ferocious lion and she’s always protected me. Like, all through my childhood, she would go toe to toe with anybody who tried to hurt me or didn’t treat me right. And so I know how much she loves me.

But it’s just that now that I’m pregnant, you know, her decision to leave isolation and put us at risk, it just I get it. Okay? I get it. And so I just really can’t sit across from her right now and make chipper small talk. You know? I’m mad. And she’s just gonna fuss around and try to make everything better, and she can’t.

And that’s just gonna make me more mad. You don’t have to explain yourself to me, okay? I love my mom. But sometimes I feel like we’re both better off being on separate continents. Did you No, no, she’d be on the next flight back to Salem. Yeah, that’s why I didn’t tell her. Wish me luck. I am going to call my mom now.

And tell her that I am not coming. Okay. And Jules hand painted this little card. It was so adorable. Oh, a future artist that one. Yes. And Carver leaned in to give me a kiss on our video call this morning. Oh! Warmed my heart. So, are you and Chanel going to get together to do something special today? Mm, we’re going to lunch at the bistro.

Ah, love you. You know, I really should get going before I wind up.

Speaking of. Chanel, honey, are you on your way to the restaurant? Yeah! Oh, um, Mama, I’m actually sorry. I’m not gonna make it today. Oh, what’s the matter, baby? I’m feeling a little queasy, and so I’m just gonna stay in bed. Oh, of course, of course. I understand. You take care of yourself, sweetheart. I will. Okay.

I’ll talk to you later. Mm hmm. All right. Bye bye.

Happy First Mother’s Day, Mommy. Just made you a special breakfast. Oh, my. How sweet. Well, I would have served you in bed if you hadn’t gotten up so early and gone. Uh huh. You know, Jude’s an early riser. Mm hmm. I brought you some snacks to nibble on before the main course. I think I would rather nibble on you than the main course.

Oh, baby, I am the main course. Sleeping? Not yet, but soon. Good thing I’m a patient man.

Mom. I’m not an idiot, okay? I get what you’re saying. You’ve told me like a thousand times. Well, then make it a thousand and one. Can we just order, please? I’m starving. Okay, well, I don’t know about you, but I am in the mood for trout. You have got to be kidding me. What? What? What do you mean, what? Is that why you were so gung ho to bring me here?

Because No! Are you kidding? No, I brought you to one of the nicest restaurants in town because I wanted to treat you on Mother’s Day. Which I’ve been saving up for, by the way. I had no idea that they would be here. Holly, I wasn’t born yesterday. You wanted to come here so you could see Tate on the sly. On the sly?

Seriously? Yeah, seriously. Why else would you want to come to the bistro on Mother’s Day? Mom, do you even hear yourself? What? I didn’t know he was gonna be here. Besides, I didn’t make the reservations. EJ did. Guilty. You’re dead?

Yeah. I’m good, buddy. I’m just really proud of you. You know that? How strong you are. And how wise you are. Or knowing that mommy’s always with you. She’s always right here in your heart. She definitely is. But I still like coming to visit her here. We can come whenever you want. Charlotte’s with us next year.

She can help pick flowers. Yeah. And I bet mommy would love that. You know, I know that we didn’t get to be a family as long as we all would have wanted. But I am really grateful for the time that we had together. Me too. I love you, Thomas. Biggest discount. I love you too, Dad. Biggest day. Well,

I suddenly have no Mother’s Day plan. Is Chanel okay? Oh, yes, yes. She’s just feeling a little under the weather. Not up for going out today. That’s a shame. It, it isn’t, uh, Not radiation poisoning. Oh, that’s a relief. Doctor gave her a complete physical, said she is fine. Sure, it’s just a little spring cold, you know.

And you know those can take you by surprise. Yes, of course. And it is allergy season. I am sure when she’s feeling better, the two of you will have a belated celebration. But she’s okay, which I hope is soon. I’m sure it will be.

So how’s the new job? It’s going great. Chad’s surrounded by a good team. For the, for the most part. Leo. Yeah, he’s the exception. I was gonna tell Chad that Lady W accepts payoffs. It was not a payoff. Leo did not ask me for money. I offered to help a friend out, is all. Yeah, well, good friends don’t do things like that.

Look, Leo is a hot mess. And he just got dumped. Yes, by a felon who’s serving hard time. Still shred him to pieces. I don’t want him to lose his job right now, too. Look, please. Please just drop it as a Mother’s Day gift to me. Only for you.

Thank you. I’m still gonna keep an eye on him. I get it. But, I think Leo’s troublemaking days are truly far behind him. Scene.

Gosh, I thought there’d be more people here today. I hope they don’t close as quickly as they reopened. Yeah, me too.

Wait. Stefan DeMera was running drugs out of this place. You want it to stay open? Oh, no, no, no. I have no love for that man or Clyde West and the two of them are gonna go to hell for all I care. I mean, there are good people working here trying to make a decent living, you know? And it’s not like there are many decent restaurants on every corner in this town.

Yeah, that is accurate.

How’s your job going? Yeah, it’s good. Yeah. Well, at least you have a job. Yeah, what are you gonna do now?

I’ll figure something out. And when I do, you’ll be the first to know.

Ooh! Holly, they have your eggs benny. I don’t see any strawberry cheesecake. Oh, they have that too. I checked the menu online. Okay, I know what I’m getting. Me too, but first, a toast to the guest of honor. Moi? Mm hmm. To my lovely wife, the most wonderful mother I know. Besides my own, which I have to say, otherwise I’ll get struck by lightning.

Thank you, honey. Holly, do you have anything you would like to say? Yeah, I do. Um, Mom. I know that this has been a really rough year for you. And I’m sorry for my part in that. For making you worry about me and scaring you to death. But you helped me and you quite literally saved my life. So for that, I’m extremely grateful you’re my mom.

Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you, my darling girl. To my lovely wife. Cheers. Love you both. Love you.

It’s kind of a strange Mother’s Day for me for obvious reasons. Yeah, I get that. I’m just glad your dad made us that appointment with that specialist and that not too many people know I’m pregnant. Yeah, I mean, lots of couples wait a while to tell people anyway. It’s not unusual.

Hey, what is it? You Well, it’s just what I, uh, I feel guilty for what I’m feeling right now. Guilty why? Well, we talked the other day about how A new life is always a blessing, no matter what. And we talked about sweet Felicity, and how she has Down Syndrome, and how she is just so great, and she must bring so much joy to her family’s lives.

But, well now Now, now what? Well, now Children with birth defects could need lifelong care. And obviously that depends on, you know, what those defects are. But I read that that could put a lot of stress on a marriage. And we just started our marriage again. And I just, I hope that you and I can both be strong enough to handle whatever is it.

Perfect about our baby because I don’t want anything to change between us. Nothing will change between us. Okay. I promise.

Nothing will.

He’s finally asleep. President took him that long. He was fighting it all the way home. This is for you. Oh my gosh! You didn’t have to. Of course I did. It’s Mother’s Day. Topaz? It’s Jude’s birthstone. Here,

let me help you.

I love it. It, uh, represents joy and good fortune. I googled it. There’s a lot of things that Jude’s brought into our life. It’s perfect. Thank you, Eric. This has been the best day. Yeah, well, there’s more to come. There’s more? Well, a whole lot more. So,

prom? What about it? Aren’t you excited? Sure, yeah, I guess so. Oh, come on. It’s a rite of passage. How was your prom? I didn’t go. You didn’t go to prom? I don’t know why I thought you’d be like prom queen or something. Yeah, no. I was too cool for school. Or at least I thought I was. I was dating somebody older.

He was definitely not in high school. What did grandma have to say about that? You don’t want to know. Actually, I think my father really came down on me for that one. Huh. What are you doing this afternoon? You want to go tux shopping? My schedule is wide open. Tux shopping? That’s what you want to do on Mother’s Day?

Absolutely. What color is Sophia’s dress? I don’t know. You don’t know? We need to find out. I don’t know. You need to get a matching bow tie and cummerbund. Really? That stuff has to match her dress? Well, it doesn’t have to. It’s just, you know, it’s nice if it does. So, tell me about her, the rum date. She’s just this girl in a couple of my classes.

That’s all I get? I don’t really know her that well, Mom. And yet you asked her to prom. Yeah, just kind of happened. Okay, so who’s taking pictures of the two of you? Are you going to go pick her up from her house? Mom, you’re thinking way too hard about all of this. Okay, I’m sorry, I’ll stop with the questions.

I’m just really glad that you’re not going with, you know who. Yeah. I’m so glad that you’ve moved on. It’s not like I had a choice.

So, Holly, did your mother tell you she just wrote her first article for the newspaper? She did. About the homeless. Is it scary going out at night to talk to them? No, it’s not scary. It’s sad and humbling. You don’t go alone though, right? No, gosh, no. I don’t go alone. Eric goes with me to take pictures. Oh, that’s good.

I can’t wait to read your article and see your name at the top. Oh yes, it’s called a byline. Very exciting. Yeah, it’s almost as exciting as being district attorney and CEO of a major corporation all at the same time. It’s a balancing act, certainly. Well anyway, um, when all of us come up for air, EJ and I were talking about getting away.

You know, maybe going to Chicago for the weekend, or flying to New York, seeing a couple shows. What do you think? Um, yeah, but not until after prom. What? The junior senior prom. Honey, um, I’m sorry, but that’s, that’s not happening. We’re not going to prom.

Nah, you beat me! You let me win! I did not. Give me a break, dad. I know you chose not to block me on purpose. There are my two favorite fellas in the world. What about Uncle Doug and Eli? Darling, all the men in my life are marvelous. Happy Mother’s Day, sweetie. Thank you, sweetie. Where’s our darling Charlotte?

She went to a princess brunch. A princess brunch? Oh, how royal. Yes, she dressed up as the queen. But us peasants were thrilled to join you for brunch. Well, I’m thrilled, too. So, sweetheart, what have you been up to today? We visited mommy today. Of course you did. Well, I talked to my grandmother today, and I told her about all of the reconstruction we’re doing at the Horton house.

They’d be so proud of everything you’re doing, Julie. Well, thank you for saying that. I can’t wait to move back home. Me too. May 3. I mean, Aunt Maggie is a wonderful hostess, but as they say in The Wizard of Oz, there’s no place like home. Should we do it now?

Happy Mother’s Day, Aunt Joy. Oh, oh, thank you very much.

Goodness, this is wonderful. Charlotte and I made it for you to hang up in your new house. Well, I will, sweetie. I know exactly where I’m going to put it. It’s perfect. Thank you, darling. Hey.

Having kids. In general. Okay, that’s gonna change the dynamic in any relationship. Yeah, I know that, Johnny, but our situation, it’s Happy Mother’s Day! Oh, my God. Wait until you see what I brought. Uh, what are you doing here, Mom? I didn’t hear the Well, Harold, he was outside trimming rose bushes or something.

He let me in. Look what I have! Soup, crackers, and a special tea blend that helped calm my stomach when I was pregnant with you. I’m going to make a party. everything for you myself. Uh, is it all right if I go rummaging around in your kitchen? Look, no, Paulina, that is totally unnecessary. Very, very necessary.

My baby’s having a baby. We’ve got to take care of her. Yes, and I agree with you, but look, Chanel, right now she’s very tired, and we thank you for bringing all of this stuff. It’s very generous, but right now she needs to rest, okay? And I think it would just be better if we all hung out another time. You know, I’m sorry.

No, no, no, no need to be sorry. I, and I promise you, I won’t stay very long. So how, how about I just visit you for a few minutes? I’d rather you didn’t.

So mom, is there anything new with you and Alex? Not really. So it’s over? I don’t know. Can we talk about something else though?

What do you mean I’m not going to the prom? Honey, the last time you went to a nighttime event, you almost died. You can’t be serious right now. I’m very serious. I’d be too worried about you, and besides, you’re grounded, and you know that. But mom, I already have a date. No, you don’t, because you and Tate are no more.

I’m not going with Tate. I’m going with Aaron Green. Who the hell is Aaron Green? Well, maybe if you were involved in my life a little bit more, you’d actually know. Holly, that was uncalled for. Your mother I wasn’t talking to you. Hey, watch it. And I am involved in your life, which is why I’m catching on to your little game here.

Oh, that nice little Happy Mother’s Day speech you gave me to butter me up so you can go to prom? No! No way, because I didn’t think you would say I couldn’t go. My God, this is so unfair. Perhaps we should save this until we get back home. That is a great idea. Let’s go. I, I can’t believe this. So what, I’m just gonna be grounded forever?

Why can’t you just let me live my life? Thomas,

I think you are the best looking, and the brightest, and most important, like your mother and your father, the best person I know. I’m very proud to be your auntie. I’m proud of you, too. Oh, thanks.

Dad, Uncle Roman said I could go check out the kitchen when I’m done. Um, can I go back there? Okay, yeah. Stay with Uncle Roman. Don’t touch anything. Roger that, Dad.

Watches too many movies, that one. Oh, don’t they all? He really looks like you. But I think personality wise, there’s a lot of Abigail in him. Yeah, he sure does. And so does Charlotte. She’s starting to look more like her mom every single day.

This must be a really difficult day for you, darling. Yeah. I miss her today. I mean, I do every day, but she just never goes away. Nope. Never does. I miss my son David today. Of course, he’s gone forever now, but Those mothering feelings, they never go away. I’m so very lucky I have grandchildren to, to love and to nurture and, and as fate would have it, your children and you too, Chad.

And we thank God for you. We’re so lucky to have you. Happy Mother’s Day, Julie.

You don’t want me here? What I want is for you to stop trying to fix everything. What’s happening to me right now, it can’t be fixed. Oh, well, we don’t know that. You’re right, Mama, we But what we do know is that when you heard I was lost in that snowstorm, you decided to make the snap decision to leave isolation, commandeer a snow plow, and expose me to radiation.

And now we are dealing with the consequences of that. I feel more terrible about this than you can imagine. My guilt is off the charts, I, it’s killing me. Mama, I love you, but there is no way that you are going to turn what’s happening to me right now into your own personal tragedy. What? Oh, oh, no, I would never ever do something like And yet you are.

And that is why I didn’t want you here.

Look, Mama, I I just need some space, okay? Johnny and I need space. So I hope you can respect that.

Of course. I understand.

Now I’ll, uh, show myself out.

This is such B. S. Okay, honey, keep your face down. Dammit, mom, I have been working really hard at school. My grades are up. You even gave me my phone back. But what? I can’t go spend one night with my friends? It’s gonna be the biggest night of the year. Everybody’s going to it. Not everyone. And, and honey, you’re, you’re a junior, you can go next year.

But I’m sorry, this year it’s a no. No, it’s not. Sit down. You are being totally unreasonable. And you are making a scene. I hate you, mom. I really, really hate you. Damn it. Let her stew. No, I can’t. Oh my god, what a drama queen. You know, you don’t always have to comment, mom. Is that girl not being obnoxious and rude?

You are so lucky to be rid of her. This has been such a nice morning. I’ve had a good walk, a good breakfast, a good time with my hunky handsome husband. Go away! Holly, Holly, stop following me! Leave me alone! Honey, can we just talk about this please? You know what? You’re a total hypocrite. You screw up your whole life and here you are having a grand old time living in some mansion.

Me? I screw up once and I’m punished for eternity? You’re the worst mom on the planet.

Oh, great. I just broke my mother’s heart on Mother’s Day. I’m a horrible daughter. No, you are not a horrible daughter, okay? Look, you stood up for yourself, right? You stood up for yourself and you were honest. And your mom needed to hear that. Yeah, but did you see her face? How, how hurt she was. Hey, you did the right thing.

It’s not like you told her you never want to see her again. You just told her that you needed some space and you do. Yeah. I just, I hope she doesn’t get too worked up about it, you know? Your mom’s a big girl. Yeah. Yeah, she is. She’ll be alright. She knows I love her, and I just, I’m going through a lot right now.

And Johnny, I mean, since we’re being honest, You know, I really appreciate you being here for me and listening to everything I’m going through and you’re saying all the right things. But at the same time, you haven’t really told me how you feel about it. I, uh, thought that I did. But I’ll tell you again.

It’s your body. And I support whatever you decide.

What I do know is that We Created this baby out of our love for each other.

And that means a lot to me. Yeah. It means a lot to me too. And, I just, I really hope that, If, Everything isn’t okay, even though I, I hope and pray that it will be. But if it isn’t, And I pray that we will, we will be all right because our love will get us through it. Right? Yes. Yes it will. I believe that with all my heart.

Okay. Okay.

Dear Lord, please watch over my daughter and her baby. Amen. And let my stupid mistake hurt them. They didn’t do anything wrong. This is all my fault. Oh, Heavenly Father, I beg you. Let Janelle’s baby be healthy and strong.

You know, you are the glue that keeps this family together. And because of you, the Horton Legacy will live on. Oh boy. You, uh, you don’t know how much that means. Having you and the children living in the same house with us, that has given Doug and me some of the sweetest days of our lives. Well, we are blessed to have you, that’s for sure.

You know, Charlotte was, uh, really young when Abby died and, um, while having you there,

to love her, and to mother her, it just, uh, meant, uh, meant a lot. Don’t worry. Don’t worry. We will keep the memory of Abigail alive for her. For Thomas, too. I promise. Holly,

what’s going on? Mom’s being a total hypocrite. She’s got a bug up her ass because I made one mistake. I’m not perfect like you ever were. Honey, I never said I was perfect and this isn’t about me. Nicole, can I steal Holly for a few minutes? Give you two a chance to cool off. Yeah, fine, but I’m waiting right here.

Hey, what’s the matter? What’s going on? What’s going on is mom won’t let me go to prom. Eric, could you talk to her, please? And just tell her she’s making a big deal out of nothing. Holly, you almost died. That’s not nothing. Oh my god! Okay, yeah, it’s fine. I screwed up. Once. So what? That means she gets to lock me up in a tower like I’m Rapunzel for the rest of my life?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. She’s just trying to keep you safe. Listen, my sister Sammy, she was your age. She and my mom Things are different now, Eric. It’s not how it was in the Stone Ages.

So, my daughter shouted in public that she hates me. Happy Mother’s Day, right? Yeah. Well, what happened? I told her she couldn’t go to prom because of what happened on New Year’s. Oh. Yeah. You know, um, You’re a mom. And if you knew you could lose your child, wouldn’t you do everything you could to prevent that?

Somebody’s calling. Uh huh. Uh, would you mind knocking him while I just make a bottle? Yeah, sure.

Rolf, tell me what you know.

You’re sure? There’s no doubt that this baby is Nicole and Eric’s.

I’m sorry too.

More sorry than you know.

Bold & The Beautiful Transcript

Transcript provided by Suzanne

[ Relaxing music ]

Steffy: I haven’t seen you this excited in a long time. What’s the incredible news?

Finn: Honey, not only is it incredible, it was just the most unexpected.

Steffy: What, did you save a life in some crazy way?

Finn: You won’t believe it.

Deacon: So, what do you say? Come on. A trip to vegas? Let’s make it official tonight.

Sheila: Oh, you certain you wanna go to vegas?

Deacon: Yes, I do, I do. Come on, I proposed again, you’ve accepted again. Why wait to tie the knot? You know, the sooner the better, let’s do this.

Sheila: Maybe I’m having second thoughts.

Deacon: What about marrying me? Oh, come on. Oh! Knife to the heart. Say it ain’t so, lady.

Sheila: It ain’t so, lady.

Deacon: Look at that thing.

Sheila: Oh, I love you. There is nothing more that I want than to be mrs. Deacon sharpe.

Deacon: All right, now you’re making sense. Let’s not let anything else stand in our way, okay? I don’t wanna lose you again. I thought I had for weeks. Sheila, it tore me up inside. I never wanna spend another moment away from you.

Sheila: You don’t need to worry, because I’m– I’m not going anywhere.

Deacon: Hm.

Sheila: No, you put that big, expensive diamond ring on that finger, and I mean, look at it.

Deacon: I know, I know, I know, baby, I know, I promise, I promise, I know I owe you an engagement ring.

Sheila: No.

Deacon: I’m gonna get you one.

Sheila: You don’t owe me anything. I owe you. You saved my life. I– I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.

Deacon: Hey, what’s the matter?

Sheila: I just, uh, I was just feeling a little dizzy, that’s all. Must’ve been that kiss.

Deacon: Um, we’re gonna go to the hospital. Yes, we’re gonna get you checked out, okay? Please, please, just humor your fiancé.

Sheila: Okay.

Deacon: Okay? All right.

Finn: Your dad was right all along. Everything that he’s been saying is true. Sheila’s alive.

Ridge: Well, it sounds like you and carter had a productive meeting.

Liam: Yeah, it was productive, although I’m glad I ran into you, because he actually asked me a question I didn’t know how to answer, and it has to do with a new design with… hey, hope. Hope, hi.

Hope: Hi, sorry. I was just, um.

Liam: Are you okay?

Hope: No, yeah… I’m– I’m honestly not sure how to answer that.

Liam: Okay, is it ’cause– ’cause I– I know that you went and visited deacon today. Were you not able to talk him out of the, uh, the sheila’s alive nonsense, or?

Hope: Except it’s not nonsense, liam. My dad isn’t crazy. He’s right. Sheila is alive.

Ridge: You gotta be kidding me. Now, you too? You’re doing the same thing now?

Hope: I’m trying to tell you.

Ridge: Trying to what? To– to make sense of this conspiracy theory your dad came up with?

Hope: Okay, except he is not making it up.

Ridge: Of course he’s making it up. What are you talking about? Where are we now? Is he having conversations with sheila? Is he having a nice heart to heart with her? Hope, come on. You were supposed to go over there and talk him out of this nonsense. Sheila is dead. My daughter put a knife in her and she died.

Hope: Except she isn’t dead, ridge, because I saw her. Sheila is alive.

Deacon: You still feeling dizzy?

Sheila: A little, but I’m– I’m gonna be fine.

Deacon: Sheila, you were in that warehouse for weeks with very little food, very little water. Finn wanted you to go to the hospital, but you refused. You’re gonna be my wife soon, and I’m not playing around with your health.

Sheila: Sweetheart, I– I’m gonna be–

Deacon: Sheila, this is not up for debate, okay? I’m not playing around with this. All right, please, look, if– if you won’t do it for your sake, will you at least do it for mine? Please, I mean, I don’t wanna lose you now that I’ve got you back in my life. I mean, it would kill me if anything happened to you.

Sheila: Nothing’s gonna happen to me. I’m not going anywhere.

Deacon: No, yeah, you’re gonna go to the hospital, and you’re gonna get checked out by the doctor, and he’s gonna say everything is okay, and then we’re gonna know you’re safe, and then we can come back here, and we can play a different version of doctor.

[ Sheila chuckles ]

Sheila: Well, if you put it that way, then okay, let’s go.

Deacon: Good, I love that you can be bribed. Okay, good, perfect. Um, you get your purse, and I’ll get my keys, and we will be back here planning our nuptials before you know it.

Sheila: Okay.

Deacon: Okay.

Steffy: Babe, you’re so amped up right now. Do you want some wine?

Finn: No, I’m– I’m– I’m okay, but yeah, I’m– I’m excited, uh…

Steffy: Okay, can you tell me what’s going on?

Finn: Yeah, um, it all begins with sugar.

Ridge: This is insane. This is absolutely insane. I— I’ve heard of sugar, yes, I’ve heard the stories, but she’s not part of this story.

Hope: Look, I had a hard time with it too, ridge. When I showed up at my father’s apartment, I was hellbent on– on getting my dad to give up the fantasy of sheila carter being alive. And I wasn’t going to leave there until I got through to him. But then the door opened, and sheila was just standing there, right in front of me, in the flesh, and I was so shocked that I– I actually passed out. Here’s the thing, ridge. When I came to, she was still standing there. So as hard as this is to believe, the woman that steffy killed that night was not sheila. It was her look-alike, sugar.

Ridge: No, there has to be something else. There has to be.

Hope: No, I get that this is beyond belief, and yet I–

Ridge: You still– you want us to believe that you saw her.

Hope: I didn’t just see her, ridge. I spoke to her and she spoke to me and I wasn’t hallucinating. I– I– I’m telling you, I’m– I’m not making this up. Sheila carter is alive. Whether we like it or not.

Nurse: There we go. And how would you like to be addressed?

Sheila: Sheila is fine.

Deacon: I’m her fiancé, deacon.

Sheila: He nearly had to drag me here.

Deacon: Well, I’m a bit of a worrier when it comes to this beautiful lady.

Nurse: Well, no need. We’ll take very good care of her.

Deacon: Okay. Damn it. I left my cell in the car.

Sheila: Well, I’m gonna be fine. Just go get it.

Deacon: You sure?

Sheila: Yeah.

Deacon: Okay. I love you.

Sheila: I love you.

Nurse: How long have you two been engaged?

Sheila: Would you believe a few hours?

Nurse: Maybe that’s why you’re feeling faint.

Sheila: Yeah, he asked me before, and I said yes. We just never solidified a deal, so to speak. But this time, it’s– it’s gonna be different. Every– everything is gonna be different.

Nurse 2: Thank you, doctor.

Li: I’ll review mrs. Edward’s latest test results. I’ll get back to you on where we go from here.

Sheila: Excuse me, um, is that dr. Finnegan?

Nurse: Oh, yes.

Sheila: Any chance of her seeing me?

Nurse: I’m not sure she’s available.

Sheila: Please, I mean, maybe you could ask her?

Nurse: I’ll speak to the doctor. Now, excuse me.

Nurse: Excuse me, dr. Finnegan?

Li: Yes.

Nurse: I have a patient in exam room 13, made a special request to see you. She’s suffering dehydration, malnutrition. Her name is sheila.

Steffy: Sugar?

Finn: Yeah, sugar.

Steffy: What about sugar?

Steffy: Well, oh, okay, so sugar is a person.

Steffy: Oh, okay, and– and you know this person?

Finn: No, actually, I– I don’t know her at all.

Steffy: What? Um, I’m really confused right now. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Finn: Okay, um, here– may– let’s– you wanna sit down?

Steffy: Yeah, okay. Okay, um, look… this, um, this whole thing is just unfathomable, okay? What I’m about to tell you. Look, I know it’s gonna be hard for you to believe, and– and– and what it means, and– and it was for me, initially, as well, um, but it is real.

Steffy: What’s real? Finn, you’re not making any sense. Okay, so this person named sugar is A…

Finn: Is, look, she’s– she’s a woman who looks exactly like… sheila.

Steffy: What? Wait, what, why?

Finn: I understand how crazy that sounds, but…

Steffy: What does this– what does this sugar person have to do with sheila?

Finn: Everything, steffy. Everything.

Ridge: So, not only did you see sheila, you talked to her at deacon’s house?

Hope: Look, I get that you don’t believe me, and I would have a hard time believing it too, if I wasn’t there to see it for myself, but sheila carter is alive. It was sugar who went to steffy’s that night.

Ridge: Okay, so the morgue, the crematorium, the nine toes, ten toes, whatever it is, you’re saying that sugar went up in flames, not sheila.

Hope: Exactly, and I know for weeks we– we’ve been thinking that sheila was gone from our lives forever and we could finally relax, and we wouldn’t have to worry about our loved ones being in danger anymore, and now, to find out how it actually is, that– that sheila was a victim in all this.

Ridge: Sheila was what?

Liam: Oh.

Ridge: Sheila was a victim, is that what you just said?

Nurse: She also reported feeling faint and a little nauseous, but… dr. Finnegan, everything all right?

Li: You said this patient’s name is sheila?

Nurse: Yes.

Li: It’s nothing. The name sheila used to send a shiver down my spine. Thankfully, not any longer.

Nurse: I can have another doctor look at her if you prefer.

Li: Oh, no, it’s fine. I’ll see the patient. Sheila, dr. Finnegan. Normally, I don’t see new patients, but I understand you specifically asked for me. I understand you’ve been suffering from dehydration and malnutrition. Are you okay, ma’am? Would you pull the sheet down, please, so I can examine you?

Finn: Just hear me out. This is gonna be hard for you to wrap your head around, but– but you will, honey, I promise. So, this woman, sugar, she looks exactly like sheila. Babe, I mean, it– it would be impossible to tell them apart. And when deacon showed me a picture of her, I thought he had lost it. But– but then I saw that photo and– and sugar and sheila, I mean, they– they could be identical twins. Anyway, look, it– it was lauren fenmore who told deacon about sugar.

Steffy: Lauren?

Finn: Yeah, on her most recent trip to L.A., She told deacon that years ago, sheila tricked sugar into getting plastic surgery so sugar would be convicted for sheila’s crimes.

Steffy: What?

Finn: I know, I know, okay, but it’s– it’s what happened. And sugar ended up in a mental ward.

Steffy: Okay, finn, stop. Why are you bringing all of this up?

Finn: I know that it’s confusing, but look, sheila and sugar are identical in every single way, but one. Sugar has all her toes.

[ Serene music playing ]

Ridge: I wanna make sure I got all this. So, sugar kidnapped sheila and chained her up in some warehouse somewhere?

Hope: Yes, and then she was going to go on a crime spree and set sheila up to take the fall. And she was starting by going after steffy and the kids.

Liam: So– so– so there’s this person named sugar who’s just as sick in the head as sheila, and–

Hope: Yeah, but luckily, my dad was on to something. I mean, when he saw those feet–

Ridge: You hear how farfetched this is, right?

Hope: Yes, and I know this is the last thing that we want to hear, but it is true. There is one thing I know for certain after today. Sheila carter lives on.

Li: Please, ma’am, let me have a look. I won’t be able to treat you if I can’t see you. Fine. Apparently, you don’t want me to see you. Your toe. What happened? Is that why you’re here? For me to examine your missing toe? Answer me. Remove that sheet. Show me your face!

Finn: Deacon was worried that sugar had it out for sheila. So he and I, we went through her credit card history, and we tracked her down. In a strange part of town. We found her, steffy, in an old, abandoned warehouse.

Steffy: You found sugar?

Finn: Sheila. We found sheila.

Steffy: No, finn. Sheila’s– sheila’s dead.

Finn: No, that was sugar. It wasn’t sheila.

Steffy: What are you talking about? Sheila died. She died in our house. She died right there.

Finn: I know that’s what you thought. It’s what we all believed, but it wasn’t sheila. Steffy, it wasn’t her.

Steffy: Okay. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. Deacon is losing it, and he obviously got into your head somehow. This is just so crazy. Come on.

Finn: Babe, listen. In those final moments when deacon was with her and swearing he saw what he saw at the crematorium, it was sugar’s body. It wasn’t sheila’S. And look, I know that this is a shock, but it’s the truth. And you know what that means? You know what that means? Honey, it means that you didn’t kill my birth mother. You didn’t kill sheila. She’s alive. My birth mother is alive.

Phyllis: You seem tired and run down.

Summer: Um, I’m okay. I’ll be okay. Yeah.

Phyllis: Harrison? How’s harrison?

Summer: Harrison’s actually seeming to do pretty well. I’m keeping a very close eye on him for any signs of the trauma that he’s been through, but he seems okay so far. I, on the other hand, am still a little bit on edge.

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah. I understand that. I understand. I would be too. I’d be very cautious.

Summer: Yeah, we’re gonna keep harrison out of school for another day just to see. And kyle’s spending some one-on-one time with him this morning.

Phyllis: Oh, good. That’ll be good for them. Both of them.

Summer: Yeah.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Summer: I just really want things to go back to normal so that we can put all of this behind us.

Phyllis: Yeah, uh, that’s gonna take some time. You gotta be patient for that, but it will take time. Just wait it out.

Summer: Unfortunately, harrison keeps on asking about claire. Kyle’s doing nothing to discourage it.

Phyllis: Well, do you want him to?

Summer: Yes, absolutely.

Phyllis: I– I just– from what I heard, is that claire was as much as a victim to jordan as harrison was.

Summer: Mom, please don’t tell me that you’re gonna side against me on this.

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh, no, never. Hey, listen, if there was any side to be on, it would be your side, always. I just heard, I was told that, you know, claire’s not to blame in any of this.

Summer: Maybe not directly, but in my mind, claire is never gonna be innocent. Never.

Victoria: This is nice, you know? The two wo of us just getting to spend the morning together.

Claire: Yeah, it’s a beautiful day. It’s a beautiful park. I saw a plaque back there that said katherine chancellor, that the park was named after her. Did you know her?

Victoria: Yes. Everybody in genoa city knew katherine. She– she was an icon. She was loved and respected all around the world. She was my godmother.

Claire: Well, I wanna know more about her and her connection to the newmans. I wanna know everything that I’ve missed over the years.

Victoria: Don’t worry about it. It would be my pleasure to tell you everything and anything that you wanna know. We have all the time in the world for that.

Claire: All the time. I can’t help but wonder, mom, if maybe that’s a mistake.

Victoria: A mistake? What– what do you mean? Spending time together is a mistake?

Claire: No, no, of course not. I love spending every moment we can together. It’s amazing. You’re amazing. But jordan’s dead now, and I’m beginning to find my footing. I– I’ve been thinking of getting a job of my own.

Victoria: Oh, well, that’s good. That’s a good thing, right?

Claire: Yes, it is. And it’s why I think maybe you don’t need to be so worried about me and think about getting back to work. I want to see you back in action.

Kyle: Hey, bud. You about ready? I got your duck feed here. It’s one more day of hooky and then back to school for you, young man.

Diane: Well, you sound like you’re in a good mood. Hearing you so happy and relieved almost helps my own.

Kyle: Well, not so much, I see. Doesn’t look like you got much sleep.

Diane: Got a little.

Kyle: I’m guessing you’re still upset about dad not coming home the other night? I mean, what actually happened? I feel like I’m missing something here.

Diane: He was gone all night. Does there need to be anything more?

Kyle: And I’m guessing the friend he was helping out was nikki. That’s why victor was over here the next morning, furious. And it’s why you still are upset about something.

Diane: I am.

Kyle: So, I can’t believe I’m about to ask this, but, um, look, it– it’s out there. Dad and nikki, they’re just– just friends, right?

Diane: Kyle, I don’t think your dad cheated on me with nikki newman. But what he did was just as bad. Maybe even worse.

Jack: I know you’re angry with me, victor. I’m not here to argue that. But can you at least tell me how nikki is doing? Wanna know a secret?

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Kyle: Let me get this straight. Dad contacted his old dealer, my former friend, kieran, to get his hands on some pills he used to be addicted to.

Diane: Yeah, it was this ridiculous plan to save nikki, who apparently was on some drunken bender. And I swear to you, kyle, I have tried to understand the risk your father took. I’ve– I’ve gone over it again and again, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I’m not– I’m not just upset, I’m furious.

Kyle: It’s a lot.

Diane: It’s outrageous. And I– I can’t stop thinking about what could’ve happened.

Kyle: But it didn’T.

Diane: Yeah, but that’s not the point. An addict willingly took pills.

Kyle: I know. And– and to a certain extent, I guess I can see where you’re coming from.

Diane: To a certain extent? Do you even hear what I’m saying? Your father risked everything. He– he risked our marriage, our future, his– his family, his sobriety, even his life. Everything. I mean, yeah, yeah, I’m– I’m so happy that nikki’s okay and that she’s finally getting the help she needs. But your father’s actions make it clear that he thought of nothing and no one beyond that. How could he have put us through that? How could he have taken that chance without a moment’s hesitation?

Kyle: Well, clearly, he thought it was an extreme situation. And he saw no other way out of it. So, he did what he did.

Diane: He mixed pills with vodka. I mean, is that what you would’ve done? Is that what anyone in their right mind would’ve done in that situation?

Kyle: Mom, dad knows nikki in a way you and I don’T.

Diane: Oh, so what? He could’ve suffered fatal consequences. That’s why what he did was stupid. And it was incredibly selfish.

Kyle: How can you consider that selfish when he only did it to save nikki’s life? I mean, he could have died. And that’s horrible to even think about. But selfish? Come on.

Diane: Why would he have done something so reckless when he has a family who loves and needs him? I mean, tell me, kyle, how would you feel if you had found out that your dad had died, that he had od’d in some athletic club suite? No. What he did was selfish. He put everything at risk.

Victor: How my wife is doing is none of your damn business.

Jack: I’m her sponsor, of course it’s my business.

Victor: You’re a hell of a sponsor. Your actions drove her into hell, from which she was afraid she would never return.

Jack: But she did return. And she decided what was best for her.

Victor: And you give yourself credit for that? Is that it? She had to call the damn paramedics to save your ass. Now, you turn around and make it as if you saved her life?

Jack: Okay, I’m not gonna argue this with you. Nikki finally made her own decision about going to rehab.

Victor: And that was up to me to convince her to do that.

Jack: No one decides when or how nikki gets sober. Only nikki can get herself there. And she did. Isn’t that what matters?

Victor: And what you did was unconscionable.

Jack: My conscience is clear.

Victor: That only shows me how delusional you are.

Jack: Hold on.

Victor: Is your ego that big and that fragile, you can’t admit that you made a huge mistake?

Kyle: Again, mother, dad did what he had to do for the sake of his friend. Was it the best choice from our point of view? Absolutely not. But I guess I can see how it came from the right place.

Diane: How? So, if he had died, at least I could say his heart was in the right place?

Kyle: Mom, we just went through hell with jordan. And I admit, I wasn’t thinking straight. All I wanted to do was bring harrison home. And yeah, I promised you and dad that I wouldn’t go after jordan alone. But if I had seen her going into that motel instead of leaving it, there is nothing that would’ve stopped me from charging in there to save harrison.

Diane: Well, that’s completely different. You can’t even compare the two. Harrison was in danger. Nikki was drunk. And not for the first time, I might add. Yes, eventually, she might’ve been able to drink herself to death, but she wasn’t in any immediate danger. Jack overreacted.

Kyle: Okay, I’ll give you that. I’m just saying I understand his motivation to act quickly to save nikki from going off a cliff.

Diane: Do you realize that we could be planning your father’s funeral right now? All because he had to rush in and save nikki from herself. He just had to be her hero.

Kyle: Really, mom? I wonder if this anger isn’t coming from jealousy. Don’t you know how much dad loves you? Depression is a journey.

Summer: I just don’t understand why kyle has so much sympathy for claire. Yes, I know that she was abducted with harrison. And I know that she didn’t directly contribute to him being stolen from his bed in the middle of the night, but she is, in her own way, responsible for it. Claire was jordan’s front woman in town to begin with.

Phyllis: Okay, all I’m saying is, come on. Jordan was the psycho here. I mean, she’s the one obsessed. And she would’ve found her way here with or without claire. You know that.

Summer: But she could’ve never pulled off all of the horrific things that she’s done without claire, her willing accomplice. And everybody just can forget all about that? How she poisoned practically the entire newman family, and they’re just all perfectly okay with it now?

Phyllis: I understand what you’re saying. No one’s perfectly okay with it now.

Summer: Mom, what does that say about her level of psychosis? That she was willing to murder five people? How does somebody even get to that point? How are we supposed to know that she can’t get there again?

Victoria: You want to see me in action? Oh, well, um, you’re looking at it.

Claire: This is it?

Victoria: Yeah, this is it. I– I took time off from newman because I wanted to spend time with you. You’re my number one priority. And when the kids get home from school, spending time with the three of you will be my number one priority. You know, maybe we can, um, we can talk to reed, maybe visit him, and we’ll have the summer adventure of a lifetime. Yes, I actually have thought about this a little bit, as you can tell.

Claire: But you could be doing so much more. You could be running newman enterprises.

Victoria: Listen to me. I– I just got you back. I wanna focus on you. I– I wanna get to know you, the daughter that I never had the opportunity to know.

Claire: But I know how much you loved being the head of the company. Don’t you miss it?

Victoria: Well, you know, growing up, I always looked up to my father, this powerful businessman that everyone respected and I loved the idea of working at newman enterprises so much that I started in the mailroom and I worked my way right to the top. But these past few months have given me perspective. And this time, leaving the corporate world, it’s different. This time I feel like I have a different purpose. And I have enough excitement in my life without getting bogged down with all of the office drama. No, thank you.

Claire: Well, I can understand that.

Victoria: I’m gonna tell you what I think.

Claire: Tell me.

Victoria: I think that maybe you’re trying to push me out of the nest because you’re actually ready to fly yourself.

Diane: Jealous of nikki? That’s what you think this is. You could’ve been left without a father and me without a husband, but no, no, no, mom’s just being jealous.

Kyle: What if it had been me? What if I had been in the state dad found nikki and it’s obvious he thought her life was at risk. So whether you see it that way or not, pills aside, it’s dad’s perception of the moment that really matters. What if he did what he felt like he had to do for my sake? How would you feel then?

Diane: It’s not the same thing. Jack would’ve come to me and we would’ve worked together to get you the help that you need to get through it because you’re our son. Nikki has her own husband and her own kids to come to her rescue.

Kyle: Nikki is one of dad’s closest friends. I mean, you wouldn’t expect him to just turn his back on her and walk away, would you? What’s the difference when you care for someone so deeply?

Diane: Turning one’s back and foolishly risking one’s life are two completely different things.

Kyle: Okay. As scary as it is, dad must’ve felt like he had the situation under control. I don’t know, mom. You know him. He doesn’t act recklessly.

Diane: Well, that’s why I’m so shocked by this.

Kyle: Mom, look at the bigger picture here. Harrison is safe. Nikki is safe. Dad is safe and I can’t imagine about to get hooked on pills again, so can we please just appreciate the moment here?

Diane: Oh, my god. So, you think I should just forget about this? Because an addict who just took pills again promises he’ll never take pills again? Really? Or do you just feel the need to always find the contrary position to mine?

Kyle: What? I don’t even know what you’re talking about.

Diane: Oh, come on. For months now, you’ve been disagreeing with everything I say at work. And now this? It’s like you won’t even try to see things from my perspective. (Man) it’s a little somethingi’ve done every night

Jack: None of that happened.

Victor: Let me tell you something. I’m warning you. Do not ever put her in harm’s way again because you would wish that you’d died in that damn hotel room. You got it?

Claire: I’m not trying to push you out of the nest.

Victoria: No, no. Of course you’re not trying to get your dear old mom off your back.

Claire: No, I’m not. I just– I don’t wanna see you holding yourself back for my sake. Even if you don’t wanna go back to newman right now, maybe there’s something else that you could get involved with to focus your drive and ambition.

Victoria: My ambition is getting to know you and to make sure that you feel secure and loved. What about the second part of what I said though? I’m not trying to pressure you and cole and I, you know, we want you to feel like you’re ready, but I mean, do you feel like you’re almost ready to fly?

Claire: I’m getting there. I feel strong and optimistic about my future, even if I have no idea what it might hold.

Victoria: I will be there. I will be there to cheer you on.

Claire: And I am so grateful to have you. But I wanna cheer you on too. I just– I really wanna see you get back to the normal life that you used to lead.

Victoria: Normal? I mean, this is normal. In fact, I have never felt better in my entire life than I do right now.

Kyle: Wait, what? How did you even get here?

Diane: You second guess every single thing I do at the office. You look for ways to undermine me at every turn, even though my work has been exemplary. And you know what? It’s bad enough that you’re doing it at jabot, but now you’re bringing it home. You won’t– you won’t even try to consider seeing my side.

Kyle: Mom, I’m sorry. Now, you’re just being unfair. Of course, I consider your viewpoint. I just don’t always agree with it.

Diane: Oh, well lately you never seem to agree with it.

Kyle: Okay. Now, you’re sounding paranoid. I don’t try to undermine you at the office. That’s ridiculous.

[ Door slams ]

Jack: I get the feeling I walked in on an argument and I’m willing to bet it’s about me.

Victor: I see you followed my suggestion. Ah. How many more bottles do you think I need to bring you before you… before you die? Before the world is rid of you? You’re poison. Nothing but poison. So I didn’t think I needed swiffer,

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue…

Diane: Kyle, do you mind giving your father and me some privacy?

Kyle: Harrison and I were going to the park anyway, but before I go, dad, I wanna tell you something. Even though I hate it had to go so far, I understand why you had to take such desperate measures.

Jack: You told him what happened with nikki?

Diane: He’s not blind, you know. He knows that you’re her sponsor, he knows something awful happened, so he started to put the pieces together.

Jack: I wish you hadn’t filled in the blanks.

Diane: Well, too bad. You might need to keep nikki’s secrets, but don’t expect me to keep yours when you almost kill yourself.

Phyllis: Listen, I understand why you would have– no thanks. Um, concerns about claire. I get it, um…

[ Summer sighing ] Victoria and nikki, even victor, have accepted her. I don’t know what to say. You should consider that or maybe talk to them.

Summer: If it was just about them, you know what, maybe I would. But it’s not. This is about my son. And protecting him and I’m scared. I am scared that kyle is gonna let claire into his life. I mean, just the other day, she stopped by the abbott house to check in on harrison, just casually, and now she wants to see him more often. Oh yeah, sure, just go– go spend as much time as you want with my son. And kyle’s willing to let her do that, until I put my foot down.

Phyllis: You put your foot down about claire seeing harrison?

Summer: Yes.

Phyllis: Okay.

Summer: I don’t want her to see him. There’s no reason for it. I know that kyle claims that she and harrison have some sort of bond, but I don’t care. She is the reason that my son went through a trauma, and I don’t want him to be around that. Honestly, just the thought of her being near him makes me sick.

Cole: Hey.

Claire: Dad, hey.

Victoria: Hey, you made it.

Cole: Yes, and with something cool to drink.

Victoria: Thank you.

Claire: Total hero.

Cole: Yeah, right.

Claire: I was just telling mom that she needs to get back to work. I feel guilty that both of you have neglected your careers because of me. You haven’t been writing because of me.

Cole: Claire, my writing isn’t going anywhere. It’s gonna be there for me when I’m ready to get back to it. Besides, all that’s on my mind right now is just hanging out with you, all right? And you’re not– you’re not trying to get rid of me, are you?

Victoria: Yeah, exactly. That– that is exactly what I was afraid of.

Cole: Yeah, what’s up with that, claire?

Victoria: Is there something that you’re not telling your parents right now?

Cole: You’re not trying like to ditch us, are you?

Claire: No, of course not. I swear.

Cole: All right, good, good, because your mom and I are all about you right now.

Victoria: Absolutely, and while I think that it is fantastic that you’re being optimistic about your future, you know, I want to be available to help you chart it, if needed, and I’m sure that your father feels the same way, don’t you?

Cole: Yeah, yeah, all of those hours that we were– we didn’t know where you were. We were worried that jordan might’ve done something terrible to you. That was the worst feeling in the entire world.

Victoria: It was terrifying, not knowing if we were ever gonna see you again.

Cole: Yeah. So, you’re just going to have to grin and bear us hovering over you right now.

Harrison: Claire, hi!

Cole: Well…,

Victoria: So cute.

Dupixent helps people with

Phyllis: There you go. All right, listen, I wanna be really clear. I understand how you feel. I understand. I know what it’s like to not want someone who you know is very dangerous around your kid. I get it. Just take some time is all I’m asking.

Summer: Believe me, mom, time is not gonna change how I feel about this.

Phyllis: Okay, okay. I’m just gonna say this. Don’t you think maybe you’re being a tad overprotective?

Summer: Well, that is just funny, coming from the most overprotective mom on the planet.

Phyllis: Exactly, you’re right. I am the most overprotective mom on the planet. You and your brother say that all the time. Yes. I also know what it’s like to want a second chance. I’ve begged everybody in this town for a second chance, a third chance, a fourth, fifth chance.

Summer: Okay, mom, I know that you’ve done insane things in your life and probably more that I don’t know about, but if you tried to kill five people and you were willing to watch them die, that is news to me.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, I’m not saying that claire and i are the same.

Summer: My son was kidnapped. I’m allowed to feel this way. I’m allowed to be on edge.

Phyllis: Of course you are. I agree with you, but it just seems like everybody has forgiven her and people that you love and trust.

Summer: That’s because they all feel sorry for her. It doesn’t change the fact that she could still be dangerous.

Phyllis: Listen, the newmans may be a lot of things– thank you very much. But they are not pushovers. And victor has her living at the ranch and your father has totally forgiven her. Same with victoria. That says something. You should just talk to them. That’s all I’m asking. And let me ask you this. Have you noticed any bit of psychosis from claire yourself?

Summer: It doesn’t matter. I’m not gonna take a chance. Not when it comes to my son. And– and kyle’s willing to let claire be harrison’s new nanny? I mean, in what world does that make any sense?

Phyllis: Wait a second. Kyle wants claire to be harrison’s nanny? That is ridiculous. That’s taking it too far. I absolutely agree with you on that.

Summer: Thank you. So, there is absolutely no reason to force this issue about claire spending time with harrison. ‘Cause actually there is no issue. Over my dead body will I ever let that happen.

Victoria: Hi, harrison.

Cole: Hey, man. You are looking pretty cool.

Harrison: Hey claire, wanna go see the ducks?

Kyle: Oh, buddy, claire’s hanging out with her parents right now.

Victoria: No, it’s fine. Yeah, go ahead. Go.

Claire: Well, it’s too bad we don’t have any bread to feed them.

Kyle: Well, we’ve been reading up on ducks and we brought some treats to surprise them. They like peas and oats.

Victoria: Oh!

Cole: You learn something new every day.

Claire: It sounds like you and your dad already have big plans.

Kyle: Well, you two go ahead. I’ll watch.

Claire: Thanks. I wonder if we’ll find which duck is the hungriest.

Kyle: Hey, stay close now.

Victoria: Look at the two of them. I mean, look, they’re smiling and safe even after everything they’ve been through.

Cole: Hm.

Victoria: I love how harrison has taken to claire. She’s so good with kids.

Kyle: Yeah, apparently so.

Victoria: I know that the kidnapping and all the confusion surrounding it, I know that it’s– it’s left a lasting impression on summer.

Kyle: Yeah, I won’t lie. Summer’s worried that claire will be a reminder of the trauma harrison went through, but I haven’t seen any signs of that at all. If anything, it seems he feels more reassured around her.

Cole: Well, actually that makes sense. They both went through something scary and miraculously came out on the other side pretty much unscathed. That’s a strong bond for two people to share.

Victoria: Which is why it would be great for claire and harrison if maybe you and summer would try her out as your nanny? I mean, wouldn’t that be wonderful if it worked out?

Victor: By the way, were you ever good at playing chess? It’s all about figuring out your opponent’s next move, you know?

Jordan: Shut up and let me out of here.

Victor: You certainly played the long shot, didn’t you? I mean, you raised claire long enough so she’d finally get access to my family.

Jordan: Are you listening to me, victor newman? Let me out of here. I can’t take this anymore.

Victor: But you screwed up, didn’t you? You walked right into my trap. If advanced lung cancer

Kyle: I don’t argue that claire would be a good fit, but summer’s gonna need more time. Her feelings about claire are still pretty raw. I mean, she was traumatized, as we all were, when harrison was taken, but it’s been hard for her to get past the belief that claire was in on it.

Victoria: But she knows for a fact that that’s just not true.

Kyle: Intellectually, yes. She knows she was wrong, but she had a deep, visceral reaction when harrison was taken, and she needs more time for that fear to fade.

Victoria: Well, I mean, I understand. We were equally horrified when claire disappeared. It’s not something that you easily forget.

Kyle: So, as much as we need a nanny and claire is interested, summer needs to be completely comfortable and on board to hire her.

Cole: No decisions have to be made today. I mean, right now, they’re just two pals that are feeding some ducks, which is a lot more than we could’ve expected not too long ago.

Victoria: You’re right. You’re right. Claire was trying to get me a job, and here I am trying to find her one.

Cole: Yeah, well, all in due time. You know, things will happen when they’re supposed to.

Victoria: Right.

Cole: You know, actually, I have to–

Victoria: Oh, you have to take off?

Cole: Yes, I do. So, I’m going to see you and claire later on today. Kyle, really good to see you. And I couldn’t be more happy that your child is home safe.

Victoria: Yeah.

Kyle: Same here.

Cole: Take care.

Victoria: Okay, see ya. Look, uh, regardless of the job, if there’s anything that I can do to put summer’s mind at ease where claire is concerned, I mean, we’re family, and I would hope that we could all get along, you know?

Kyle: I know. This is something summer’s gonna have to get past on her own. And I honestly can’t guarantee she really will.

Phyllis: Hm. I thought you said that kyle was spending time with harrison.

Summer: Yeah, they were supposed to be feeding the ducks.

Claire: We definitely found the hungriest duck.

Kyle: Ah.

Jack: I know you’re upset, but I don’t know what else I can say except I’m sorry and nothing like this will ever happen again, I promise.

Diane: Well, I certainly hope not because next time, you might not be so lucky to survive it.

Jack: Oh, okay. I realize I may have pushed things a bit too far.

Diane: You know what? I don’t think you do. I don’t think you’ve grasped the severity of what has happened. You know, I– I agreed for you to be your ex-wife’s sponsor, even though I didn’t like it, and I was worried about your own sobriety, and I have bitten my tongue every time you ran out of here at the drop of a hat because nikki called or nikki texted, but this goes way beyond that, and– and I can’t ignore the alarm bells ringing.

Jack: I understand that you’re hurt and angry.

Diane: No, jack, I don’t think you get it. This isn’t just hurt and angry about an argument or something. You risked everything we have, everything we value, everything we’ve worked so hard to achieve. We went through hell to be together and then– and then you would just throw it all away like that? Why?

Jack: I don’t know how many ways I can say this. I had things under control.

Diane: Until you didn’T. You know, this whole thing has really made me question your judgment. It’s made me question everything that I thought we had.

Jack: Wait, wait, wait. Please don’t feel like that.

Diane: Oh, god. You have no idea how I feel. What you did was an outright betrayal of our love and our trust.

Jack: That was never my intention.

Diane: Well, it might not have been your intention, but it’s what happened, and– and honestly, I don’t– I don’t know how I’m going to get past this.

Jack: Wait. What do you mean by that?

Diane: I– you know, I– I need some– I need some time on my own, time– time away from you, so I can sort through this and– and think the whole thing through.

Jack: I don’t know what there is to sort through. What happened, happened. It’s over. I promised you nothing like that will ever happen again.

Diane: Yeah, but can you really promise me that? I mean, I– I think I need some distance for both of our sake.

Jack: But why?

Diane: Why? For your sobriety. If I stay here in your face all hurt and angry, is that gonna send you back to the pills? Or maybe if I walk away, that will be the trigger. I mean, I don’t know. I just feel– I just feel so hurt and confused and I just don’t know the right thing to do.

Victor: Taunting your jailer. Not a good idea.

Jordan: Shut up. Shut up, hear me?

Victor: Want some more booze? Maybe I should administer to you intravenously. How’s that? As you did with nikki.

Jordan: Okay, I get it, I get it.

Victor: What do you think?

Jordan: I hear you, all right? You’re satisfying your god complex by keeping me trapped here, so go ahead. Go ahead, gloat. Gloat all you want. But you know what? You could’ve ended my life by now, but you haven’T. And why not? Do you think there’s a chance I might still escape?

Victor: You think you have a chance?

Jordan: Let me out of here and just put me in an actual prison.

Victor: Hm.

Jordan: Come on, damn it, what do I have to do?

Victor: I have an idea.
