Update written by Joseph

Steve goes to Jerry’s apartment and knocks on the door, asking if he’s inside as he needs to talk to him about Abe Carver.

Whitley says to herself that she’s sorry to Jerry as she didn’t want to do this but the hospital was getting suspicious so it was either him or her and she had to throw him under the bus. Whitley hopes that Jerry is long gone by now. Whitley declares that she was up against a wall and had to choose herself. Kayla then approaches her.

Rafe goes to Paulina’s apartment and says he hopes he’s not interrupting anything. Paulina says she knows he’s there to bring Lani back to prison. Rafe mentions that he’s not police commissioner anymore but he volunteered to oversee the transfer as he thought it would be easier for Lani with someone she knows. Paulina thanks him. Rafe asks if she wants to call Lani in. Paulina responds that Rafe is here and Lani’s not.

Lani goes to Whitley’s apartment, wondering if Jerry is telling the truth that Abe could really be alive. She knocks on the door and calls out to Abe. Lani then bursts through the door, shocked to find Abe inside.

Rafe questions Paulina saying Lani isn’t there, which she confirms. Rafe worries that’s not good as there’s not much time for him to get Lani back to prison. Paulina notes that Lani wanted to sit alone in the park after everyone left. Rafe points out that there’s a little bit of time, but she can’t be late or she could screw up her chances at getting an early release. Paulina assures that Lani won’t screw this up as she wants to get back to Eli and the kids as soon as possible. Paulina suggests calling her but Rafe reminds her that Lani is a prisoner, so she doesn’t have a phone. Paulina notes that Lani has been gone for awhile now. Rafe decides he’s going to the park, so Paulina decides to go with him and prays that Lani hasn’t lost track of time.

Lani is shocked to find out it’s true that Abe is alive. Abe, in his sedated state, questions who she is. Lani responds that she is his daughter but Abe says he’s sorry as he doesn’t know her. Lani remembers that he had amnesia. Lani encourages that everything is going to be okay now as she’s going to take him home to his family and everyone who loves him.

Kayla tells Whitley that she couldn’t help but overhear that she feels against the wall and asks if she can help. Whitley claims everything is fine. Kayla says it didn’t sound like that as she said something about choosing herself first. Whitley responds that as much as she loves the hospital and the town, it’s time for her to put herself first and say goodbye for good.

Jada finishes a call at the police station as Belle arrives. Jada informs her that she was just getting another warrant for the DiMera Mansion. Belle responds that it might not be necessary since Brady could be getting Rachel back as they speak. Jada asks if Kristen admitted to hiding her. Belle explains that Kristen hinted that Rachel could appear if Brady signed a new custody agreement, so she drew one up and Brady should be signing it right now…

After ripping up the new custody agreement, Brady calls out for Rachel. Kristen screams at him, asking what is wrong with him as she thought they had an understanding and that they were going to work this out. Brady argues that Kristen doesn’t get to kidnap his kid and use her to dictate their arrangement. Kristen complains that she told him that she had a feeling Rachel would reappear after he signed the papers, but now asks who’s to say. Brady responds that he is as he pulls a gun on Kristen. Kristen questions Brady coming armed for this and asks since when he owns a gun. Brady responds that it’s John’s and it’s loaded. Kristen asks if he’s going to shoot her in cold blood if Rachel doesn’t reappear. Brady warns that he’s thinking about it and asks where Rachel is. Kristen claims that she doesn’t know and says they need to get down to business, asking if he brought another copy of the agreement. Brady tells her that there is no agreement as she’s not calling the shots, he is.

Steve continues knocking on Jerry’s door. John joins him. Steve goes over Whitley claiming that Jerry was at the hospital when Abe disappeared and was the last person to see him on the docks. They talk about Jerry not answering the door not giving them much option, so they kick the door in.

Rafe and Paulina go to the park but Lani is gone. Paulina argues that this doesn’t make sense since she knew she had to go back to prison. Paulina questions why Lani would forget about that and just disappear.

Lani tells Abe that this is not his home. Abe tells her that “Paulina” brought him home when he got out of the hospital and told him that this is his home. Lani asks if he means Whitley. Abe asks who Whitley is and insists it was Paulina. Abe argues that if she was his daughter, she would know this and points to the edited wedding photo that Whitley made. Lani tells Abe that the woman in the picture is not his wife and not Paulina.

Kayla questions Whitley quitting the hospital. Whitley confirms that she is today. Kayla calls it kind of sudden. Whitley claims she’s been thinking about it for awhile and just made the decision to move back to Scottsdale. Whitley mentions telling Steve earlier. Kayla acknowledges that Steve is investigating what happened to Abe. Whitley claims that she told him everything she knew and feels terrible that she can’t do more to help. Kayla still doesn’t understand why she’s leaving. Whitley responds that she just feels like things have changed and feel different since Abe died. Kayla questions Whitley quitting her job without notice and leaving town for good, all because of Abe.

Steve and John search Jerry’s apartment but find that he’s gone.

Whitley tells Kayla that she’s not leaving exactly because of Abe but that him dying sums up how the whole town is ailing to her, so it’s time for her to put her needs first. Whitley says she’d like to use her vacation time as her 2 week notice. Kayla guesses she can’t change her mind. Kayla asks her to come to her office to talk about her exit package but Whitley says that’s not necessary and that she has to get going. Kayla insists it’s important and she won’t want to put it off. Whitley says it’s probably on the website. Kayla talks about how it’s going to take awhile as she has to make phone calls and cut her a check. Whitley says she can mail it and will get her the address when she lands in Scottsdale. Whitley hugs Kayla and says she was great to work with and a great lady. Whitley then rushes off through the elevator, leaving Kayla confused.

Paulina repeats to Rafe that it doesn’t make sense as Lani knew she couldn’t be late in returning to prison and she’s been counting down the days until she gets out. Rafe suggests thinking about what Lani would be trying to do before going back to prison. Paulina insists that Lani would make it back in time and there’s no way she would screw this up. Rafe tells Paulina to stay calm and promises to find Lani. Paulina asks if he means the way he found Abe.

Jada goes over Kristen saying that if Brady signed a custody arrangement, Rachel would magically reappear. Belle confirms that was implied. Jada calls it blackmail and kidnapping. Belle notes that Brady knows that but he also knows how dangerous and volatile that Kristen can be. Belle says Brady would do anything to get Rachel away from Kristen and he’ll deal with her later. Jada worries that it’s exactly what Kristen wants and Brady is playing right in to her hand while Belle is helping him do it. Belle gets that Jada is frustrated and adds that she hates what happened to Rafe. Belle says Shawn feels terrible that Clint overheard him talking about Rafe and Jada’s relationship. Jada complains that Shawn is only suspended, so he can come back to the force, but thanks to him, Rafe’s career is over. Belle says they don’t know that. Jada argues that Rafe would be just as pissed at Brady as she is.

Kristen tells Brady that she sees he means business, so he’s won. Kristen then tells Brady that Rachel is in the secret passage. Kristen grabs a glass figure to try to knock Brady out but he catches her. Brady argues that she has been using their daughter as a chess piece. Kristen complains that he did the same thing. Brady argues that he was protecting Rachel from her. Brady states that Kristen is nuts and incapable of loving Rachel. Brady screams that Kristen doesn’t know how to love and only wants to win. Brady says she’s here because she lost in court and just wants to win like Stefano. Brady screams that Rachel is not a prize or a possession. Brady screams that he doesn’t want Kristen in Rachel’s life, so he might as well just kill her right now. Rachel then runs in to the room and calls out to Brady.

Lani insists to Abe that the woman in the photo is not Paulina and talks about being his daughter. Abe talks about being told he had a son, Theo. Lani says she talked to Theo earlier and he’s so worried about him. Abe mentions thinking he saw Theo on TV. Lani says they can talk about it all when they get home but they need to get him out of here. Abe brings up that “Paulina” told him not to leave the house. Lani argues that it’s not Paulina, but a nurse who works at the hospital, who some how got him out of there. Lani talks about Whitley faking Abe’s death and making everyone think he drowned. Lani brings up that she was at Abe’s funeral. Abe jokes that this could be a story on Body and Soul. Lani insists that Abe has to come with her but Whitley comes home and declares that she can’t let her do that.

Brady tells Kristen to stay out of it as he turns to Rachel to tell her everything is okay. Rachel argues that he said he was going to kill her mom. Brady explains that he needed Kristen to tell him where she was since no one knew after she disappeared from camp. Brady insists that he would never kill anybody. Kristen tries to call Rachel to her but Brady yells at her to stay out of it. Rachel yells at Brady not to talk to Kristen like that.

Jada apologizes to Belle for taking this out on her and acknowledges that Shawn feels terrible, but says he shouldn’t because it’s not his fault. Jada admits that she and Rafe brought this on themselves as they kept working together even though they knew how they felt. Belle blames on whoever created the regulations. Jada feels awful being at work while Rafe is out on the streets. Belle says she’ll do anything she can but Jada doesn’t think there is anything since they knew the regulations and what would happen. Jada complains that it’s so stupid. Jada says they need Rafe because they have a missing child and they don’t know what really happened to Abe.

John and Steve search Jerry’s apartment but find nothing, wondering why he must have left in a hurry and if he knew Steve was coming. Steve suggests Jerry started feeling the heat and decided to get out before people started putting things together. John says that’s if Jerry is behind what happened to Abe. Steve says that’s why he wanted to talk to him. They wonder what method of transportation he took to leave as Steve points out that they can’t cover the airport, trains, and bus stations between just the two of them. John agrees that they will need some help with that so Steve decides to see if he can get some by calling Jada. Steve tells Jada that he’s calling about Jerry Prentiss as he and John decided to talk with him as it turns out that he was in the hospital near Abe’s room on the day that Abe went missing but now he’s gone too. Steve adds that they are in Jerry’s apartment and it looks like he grabbed his stuff and ran. Jada guesses that he wants her to put people at the airport, train, and bus stations and says she’s on it. Jada declares that if Jerry is still in Salem, they will find him. Steve hangs up as John points out that they don’t know when Jerry split, so he hopes it’s not already too late.

Paulina complains to Rafe that this wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t sneaking around with Jada. Rafe argues that this isn’t about he and Jada as they need to focus on trying to find Lani. Paulina brings up Rafe being fired for sleeping with a subordinate and argues that if they focused on their jobs instead of each other, maybe they would’ve found Abe and there wouldn’t have been a funeral. Paulina cries that Lani wouldn’t have been sad and felt the need to be alone. Paulina breaks down crying that it’s too much as Rafe hugs her.

Lani tells Abe that Whitley is not Paulina. Abe tells Whitley that she won’t believe what Lani has been telling him. Whitley questions who Lani is. Lani responds that she is her worst nightmare, introducing herself as Abe’s daughter and the wife of Eli, who will be very interested to hear all about what Abe has been doing here. Whitley argues that Abe was very ill and he’s been nursed back to health and it’s imperative that he not have any stress so she has to ask her to leave. Lani tells her to just shut up. Lani asks if she has any idea the hell that she has put them all through it. Lani brings up being at Abe’s funeral this morning. Whitley asks her to leave and calls this ridiculous. Lani reveals to Whitley that Jerry told her everything about how she hired him to play her brother. Lani declares that her act is over as she is taking Abe home and Whitley is going to prison. Abe questions who is going to prison. Lani tells Abe that they are getting out of here now and he will start feeling better soon. Whitley asks Lani not to do this to them, crying that they have a future and they love each other. Whitley claims that she didn’t mean any harm and was just trying to help Abe. Whitley asks Lani to have mercy. Lani asks if she should feel bad that she’s sick, depraved, and crazy. Lani tells Whitley that she’s going to make her pay. Whitley argues that she’s not crazy and she loves Abe. Lani tells Whitley to get out of her way but Whitley says she can’t let her do this and injects her with the syringe.

Steve asks John what Jerry’s motive would be and if maybe he was looking for a ransom or if something went wrong and he had to put things on hold. John questions why he would kill the hostage if it was a kidnapping or why Jerry would even open his mouth about Abe falling in to the water. Steve wonders why Jerry would hang around until the police showed up and says they only know his name because he talked to Eli and Rafe. Steve adds that if Jerry did kidnap Abe, then everything he did after makes absolutely no sense. Jerry’s printer in the apartment then goes off with an error message due to a paper jam which leads to Steve finding something in the printer.

Rafe brings Paulina to the hospital to have Kayla check her out after her panic attack. Kayla encourages her to relax and says she’ll be back to check her numbers but she thinks she will be fine. After Kayla exits the room, Paulina complains to Rafe that she won’t be fine after the things she said to him. Paulina admits she was cruel and assures that she thinks Rafe and Jada did everything they could. Paulina says she’s sorry and is mad at herself. Rafe understands that she was pushed to the limit. Paulina worries that Lani has to get back to prison in time and they still don’t know where she is. Rafe then gets a call from the prison in Maryland.

Kristen questions Brady talking like this in front of their daughter. Brady blames Kristen for creating this situation and says they are done. Brady tells Rachel that Kristen needs some time to think about what she has done and instructs her to wait by the front door. Brady tells Kristen that she’s gone too far to terrorize him. Brady says all she had left was that he hasn’t told Rachel what kind of woman she is but that’s over now as he’s going to tell Rachel everything. Rachel runs back in to the room and tells Brady not to yell at Kristen like that. Rachel cries that she doesn’t want to go and wants to stay with her mom. Brady tells her that’s not going to happen as they are leaving. Brady picks Rachel up and leaves the mansion as Kristen breaks down crying. Belle then arrives and asks what Kristen wanted to see her about. Kristen informs Belle that Brady tore up the custody agreement. Belle question what happened and where Rachel is. Kristen responds that everything just fell apart, but Brady will listen to Belle and he needs to sign the agreement. Kristen argues that Belle is a mother, so she knows how important it is that Rachel is not cut out of her life. Belle asks again where Rachel is. Kristen informs her that she’s with Brady. Belle asks where Rachel has been all this time then. Belle realizes Kristen won’t tell her but says she can make a pretty good guess. Belle warns Kristen that when she goes too far, there are consequences.

Brady brings Rachel home to John and Marlena’s. Brady tells Rachel that she has to know that no one knew where she was or if she was safe. Rachel says she was fine. Brady says he didn’t know that. Brady sends Rachel to her room and says they will talk later. Brady then puts John’s gun back as Jada then shows up at the door. Brady informs Jada that he was just about to call her as Rachel is back. Jada reveals that she knows. Brady adds that he was right that Kristen had her the whole time, so Jada is welcome to go to the DiMera Mansion to arrest Kristen for kidnapping. Jada responds that she’s sorry but she’s here to arrest Brady for pulling a gun on Kristen and threatening to kill her. Brady asks if that’s what Kristen told her after kidnappping their daughter. Rachel comes back in and reveals that she is the one who called the police.

Steve and John find the day’s bus schedule in Jerry’s printer. They note that there are a lot of places he could be headed to. Steve decides they have to get to the terminal before Jerry boards.

Paulina questions Rafe ignoring the prison’s phone call. Rafe explains that they were calling to find out where Lani is and if he told them that she’s missing then she would officially be a fugitive and it would only get worse from there. Paulina asks what do they do. Rafe calls the prison back and claims that he’s with Lani now and that he will have her back at the prison before lockdown. Rafe tells Paulina that he has bought them some time and hopes it’s enough.

Lani questions what Whitley injected her with. Whitley calls it something to help her relax. Abe asks what’s going on. Lani says that Whitley will not get away with this as she then collapses.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Jerry Prentiss, are you in there? My name’s Steve Johnson, I need to talk to you about Abe Carver.

Hey! Sorry Jerry,

I didn’t want to do this. Dr. Johnson’s husband’s getting very suspicious and it was you or me, so I had to throw you under the bus. Hopefully you’re long gone by now. This time, I was up against a wall, and I had to choose myself. Nurse King! Oh,

sorry. I hope I’m not interrupting anything. Um, it’s all right. I know why you’re here. Lonnie’s furlough is over. Yeah, I’m gonna take her back to prison. Not commissioner anymore, but, uh, I did volunteer to oversee the transfer. It’s gotta be easier for her to deal with someone she knows. And likes. Thank you.

Yeah. So, uh, you wanna call her? The thing is, um, you’re here. And she’s not.

Jerry guy telling me the truth? Could dad really be alive?

Dad!

Dad, are you in there?

Daddy.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

She’s not here? That’s what I said. Yeah, Paulina, that’s not good. There’s not much time for me to get her back before her furlough expires. I know, I know, but she just wants to sit in the park alone. Pull herself together after the funeral. Okay. Well, there is actually a little bit of time, but she can’t be late.

She’s gonna screw up her chances of getting an early release. She won’t screw this up. She, she wants to get back to Eli and her babies as soon as possible, but… Maybe you should call her. I can’t call her. She’s a prisoner. She’s not allowed to have a phone. Oh, I forgot. She has, she has been gone a while now.

I’m gonna go to the park. I’m going. Oh, well, I’ll come with you. I just pray, I just pray to God that she hasn’t lost track of time. No more. No more. It’s true. Oh, my He wasn’t lying. Who are you? Dad, I’m Lonnie. I’m

your daughter. I’m sorry. I don’t know

you. That’s right, you have amnesia. Dad, everything’s gonna be okay now, okay? I’m gonna take you home, to your family, to everyone who loves you. Daddy, come home.

Dr. Johnson, you startled me. Oh, I’m sorry, I just couldn’t help but overhearing that you… You feel like you’re against the wall? I mean, is there something I can do to help? No. No, no, no. Everything’s fine. Well, I don’t mean to pry, but it didn’t sound like everything’s fine. I mean, you said something about choosing yourself first over who?

No, not, not who. It’s more of a what. It’s just that as much as I love this hospital and this town, it’s time for me to put myself first and Say goodbye for good.

Just get it before a judge, okay? ASAP. Hey. Hey. I was just getting a new search warrant for the DiMera place. Oh. Well, that may not be necessary because Brady may be getting Rachel back as we speak. Oh, good. So Kristen admitted to hiding Rachel? Well, let’s just say she hinted at the fact that Rachel would magically reappear if Brady signed a new custody agreement.

So, I wrote one, and Brady should be signing it right about now. Rachel! What is the matter with you, Brady?! I thought we had an understanding. I thought we were gonna work this out. An understanding? No, no. What you did was blackmail, okay? You don’t get to kidnap my kid. Ow! Ow, okay. And then use her to dictate custody issues.

That’s not how it works. You I had a feeling that she was gonna re appear once you know what? Now, who’s to say? Huh? I am!

You came armed, Brady? For this? Since when do you own a gun? It’s my father’s and it’s loaded and that’s all you need to know. So, so if Rachel doesn’t appear, you’re gonna shoot me in cold blood? I’m thinking about it! Now where is she? I am telling you I don’t! No! But if you feel like you need to wave that gut around a little longer, if you’re feeling manly, but then we need to get down to business.

Now did you bring another copy of the agreement? You don’t, you don’t, you don’t get it. There’s no more agreement. There’s not an agreement and you’re not calling the shots. Do you understand? You’re not! I am.

Jerry Prentiss, can you hear me in there? I got here as soon as I can. How’s Jerry Prentiss? Nurse King saw him outside Abe’s room. Yeah, the day Abe disappeared. And he also happens to be the guy who saw Abe go off the docks. Hell yeah, we want to talk to this guy. No, I don’t know man. He’s either stonewalling me or napping in there.

Ah, not with the racket you’re making. I could hear you all the way out in the street. Well, if we don’t have an invitation, I guess our options are limited. That’s a fact. So let’s go to work. One for the money. After you. Two for the show.

This is where I left her. Okay, so where did she go? Huh? Maybe she said goodbye to someone before she left? No, no, I don’t think so. She saw everyone she knows at the funeral. Okay, but this is a straight shot back to your place, so if she was going back there, we’d have crossed paths with her. Oh, Rafe, this just doesn’t make sense.

I mean, yes, yes, she was grieving over Abe, but, uh, you know, maybe she needs some time alone to collect herself, but she knew she had to get back. Now, why would she forget about that and just disappear?

Ted, you have to take my word for it. This isn’t your home.

You know, I know

this. Paulina, she, she brought me home when I got out of the hospital. I, I, uh, she told me this. This is my home.

Whitley told you this

was your home? Paulina told me. Paulina, if you, if you were my daughter, you’d know this. Right there. Right there is our wedding picture. It’s right there.

It’s your card.

Okay, dad. You have to understand me, okay? That woman in that picture is not your wife. She is not Paulina.

You’re quitting the hospital? Yes. Today. I hope I’m not leaving you in the lurch. No, uh, no. It just seems kind of sudden. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, actually. I just made the decision. I’m moving back to Scottsdale. Actually, I told your husband about it a little while ago. Oh, you saw Steve? Yes, he introduced himself and wanted to talk.

Uh, well, about Mayor Carver, I assume. He’s investigating what happened to Abe. Yeah, well, I told him everything I knew, although it wasn’t much. I feel terrible that I can’t be of more help. Well, we all are concerned about Abe. But I still don’t understand why you’re leaving. Well, it’s not that complicated, you know, although I love this hospital and this town.

It just… Feels as if things are different. They’re, they’ve changed. How so? Oh, I don’t know really. It’s just, things feel different since Mayor Carver died. So, um… You’re quitting your job without notice and leaving town for good all because of Abe?

Yeah,

looks like someone knew you

were coming.

Not leaving because of Mayor Carver. Not exactly. It’s just that he’s like a metaphor. For what? Well, him dying sort of sums up how the whole town is ailing too. It seems that way to me, anyway. So, like I told your husband, it’s time for me to put my needs first. And so, I’m gonna go, and I’d like to use my vacation time for my two week notice.

Well, I, uh, doesn’t look like I’m gonna be able to change your mind. Uh, well, why don’t we go back to my office, and we can talk about your exit package? Oh, no, no, no, that’s not necessary. Plus, I’ve got to get home to my cats and I’ve got to start packing. Well, this is pretty important stuff. I mean, you don’t want to put it off.

It’s probably on the website, so I’ll just, you know, work that way. Sorry. I gotta go. Okay, well, it’s gonna take me a minute. I gotta get on the phone to accounting. They’ve gotta, they’ve gotta cut you a check. You know what? You could just mail my check to Scottsdale. I’ll give you my address when I land. It has been wonderful working with you.

You are a great lady. You’re really great.

Okay, I gotta go. It doesn’t make sense that… She finally knew she could be late reporting back to that prison. She knows she has to keep a spotless record. She’s been counting the days till she gets out of that place. All right, all right, hold on. Let’s just take this one step at a time. You said she wasn’t going to go anywhere to say goodbye to anyone, right?

Okay. So let’s just think. What would she be thinking about if she knew that she was going back to prison this afternoon? What would she be trying to do? She’d make it back to my place in time. Now that’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. No way she’d screw this up. Oh my god. Oh my god! Oh my god! Pauline and Pauline.

Hey, please. Just try and calm down, okay? I promise you, I am going to find her. And you mean the way you found Abe?

Okay, so let me get this straight. Kristen said that if Brady signed a custody agreement that Rachel would just magically reappear? Well, that’s what she implied. But Kristen is too smart to actually admit that she had Rachel. Well, it’s still blackmail and kidnapping. Yeah, and Brady knows that. But he also knows how dangerous and volatile Kristen can be.

He would do anything to get Rachel away from her, and he’ll deal with Kristen later. But this is exactly what Kristen wants. He is playing right into her hand, and you are helping him do it. Okay. I get that you’re frustrated. And I get that you’re frustrated about more than just this case. Listen, I hate what happened to Rafe.

And just so you know, Sean is miserable. He hates that the acting mayor overheard him talking about your relationship. Oh, that’s good to know. But the fact of the matter is that Sean is only suspended. He can come back to the force, but thanks to him, Rafe’s career is over. We don’t know that. Well, what I do know is that if Rafe was here, he would be just as pissed at Brady for pulling this end run as I am.

I

see that you’re here for business. I give. I give. You won. You won. Now, Rachel, she’s… She’s down there in the secret passage.

She’s… Go! No! Brady! Brady! So! So! I’m sick of your damn games, Kristen. You’ve been using our daughter like a chess piece. You did the same thing, Brady! I did it to protect her from you! Because you are crazy! You are nuts! You’re incapable of loving her at this point! Damn you, Brady! No, you do not know how to love!

All you want to do is win! You don’t want to lose. That’s why you’re here because you’re lost in court and you hate losing just like your sociopathic father. Our girl is our daughter. She is not some prize. She’s mine too. She is not a possession, Kristen. And I can’t have you in her life. I don’t want you in her life.

I don’t want her to have this. I might as well just kill you right now. Daddy. Okay.

Dad, do you understand what I’m saying to you? Huh? The woman in that picture is not your wife. Dad, she is not Paulina. If I had a phone, I could show you, okay? Dad, I know you would remember her. You love her so much. Paulina

never said I had a daughter.

She said I had a son. Theo. Dad, she’s He was here. No, Dad. She’s lying to you. She’s tricking you. Uh, why? I talked to Theo earlier. And he is so worried about you. I saw him on TV. Dad, look. We can talk about all of that when I get you home. Okay? But I need to get you out of here, Dad. Paulina says I can’t leave the house.

Dad. Dad. That woman is not Paulina. She is a nurse at the hospital who somehow got you out of there with no one seeing you. And she has been keeping you here. Paulina works at the hospital. No, dad. Whitley works at the hospital. And she knows everyone is looking for you. Your family, the police. She faked your death, dad.

She made it look like you drowned. Dad, I was at your funeral this morning. Okay, she made it to where everyone would stop looking for you. She faked your death, Dad. You watch Body and Soul? This could be one of their stories. Please, Dad. Please. You have to come with me, okay? I will help you to your chair.

Okay, you have to come with me, and we can go. No! I can’t let you do that.

Baby? Sweetheart, come here. Come here. What are you doing? Stay out of it. Baby, baby. Oh my God, you’re okay? You’re okay? Hey, look at me. Everything’s okay. No, it’s not okay. You said you were gonna kill Mommy. No. No, no, no. Honey, no, I would never do that. I, I need, I needed her to tell me where you were. I heard you.

No, I, you, honey, you disappeared from camp. I didn’t know where you were. Nobody knew where you were. And I, I, I would do anything to make sure that you were safe, okay? But I would never kill anybody. No. Rachel, baby, come here. Rachel, come here. You stay out of it! Don’t talk to her like that! Just don’t!

I’m sorry. I’m sorry. There’s no need to take this out on you. I understand that Sean feels terrible about this, but he shouldn’t. It’s not his fault. It’s ours. Rafe and I brought this on ourselves. We kept working together even though we knew. We knew how we felt. I think the blame goes to whoever created these draconian regulations.

I feel so awful. I mean, here I am, I’m still at work. While Ray P, he’s out on the streets. Listen, if there’s anything I can do legally, you know I will. I don’t think there is. We knew the regulations, and we knew what would happen. God, it’s just so stupid. I mean, we, we need Rafe. We have a missing child, and we don’t even know what the hell really happened to Abe.

Well, no clothes, no suitcases. No Clifton on the counter over there. Son of a bitch took off in a hurry. Why? Did he know I was coming? I mean, Nurse Ting was the only one who knew I wanted to talk to him, and it wouldn’t have made any sense for her to warn him. Well, nothing about this case has made any sense, has it?

Well, maybe he started feeling the heat and decided, uh, to get out of here before people started putting two and two together. Yeah, if he was behind what happened to Abe. And that’s still a big if, which is why I wanted to talk to him. By the looks of this place, it looks like he booked out of Salem. Yeah.

So, how’d he haul out of here, plane, train, car? Bus? Clean up. Hey, we can’t cover the airport, the train, and bus stations between the two of us. No, we’re gonna need some help with that. Let’s see if I can get some. Hey, Jada.

Steve, what’s up? I’m calling about that witness who saw Abe fall off the docks. Jerry Prentiss, the actor? That’s right. John and I decided to have a little talk with him. Turns out, he was in the hospital near Abe’s room the day Abe went missing. Now he’s gone too. We’re in his apartment. Looks like he grabbed his stuff and ran.

You want me to put people at the airport, train, and bus stations? Yes, please. I’m on it. If he’s still in Salem, we’ll find him. Thanks, appreciate it. She’s on it. Alright, thing is, we don’t know when the guy split. I just hope it’s already not too late. Don’t you look at me like that! We both know none of this would have ever happened if you weren’t spending your time sneaking around with detective hunter This isn’t about me and Jada.

All right, and we need to stay focused and try and find Lonnie This is about you and Jada. You were fired for sleeping with a subordinate And if you two had focused on your jobs Instead of each other, maybe he would have found Abe before he fell off that dock.

Then there wouldn’t have been here. Maybe she wouldn’t have been so sad and felt the need to be alone. Maybe she would have got back later. Now she can’t be

It’s

too much! Shh. Shh. Elena. No, Dad, that is not Paulina. Paulina, you won’t believe what this woman’s been telling me. And who is this woman? This woman is your worst nightmare. I’m Lonnie Grant, Abraham’s daughter and wife of FBI agent Eli Grant, who is going to be very interested to hear all about what my father is doing here.

He’s, he’s very ill. He’s being nursed back to health. And it is imperative that he not have any stress whatsoever. So I’m gonna have to ask you to Shut up! Just shut up. Do you have any idea the hell that you’ve put all of us through? His family, his wife? We were at his funeral this morning. I’m gonna have to ask you to leave.

This is just ridiculous. Get out of my house right now. No, no, I don’t think so, Nurse King. Jerry told me everything. Jerry Prentiss? The guy that you hired to play my brother? But your act is over. I am taking my father home, and you are going to prison.

Prison? Who’s going to prison? It’s alright, Dad. We’re gonna get out of here now, and you’ll start feeling better soon. Okay? Don’t do this to us. Abe and I have a future together. We love each other. Please don’t do this to us. Stay here, Daddy. I’ll get your chair. No, I didn’t mean any harm. I was just trying to help him.

Can’t you see? Please, please, just have some mercy. Mercy? For you? I suppose I should feel bad that you’re sick and depraved. A. K. A. you’re crazy. But all I feel for you is contempt. And I am going to make you pay. I’m not crazy. I’m not crazy. I’m getting this chair. I can’t let you do that.

So, if this actor is the guy we’re looking for, what’s his motive? Was he maybe looking for a ransom? Well, if so, he’s taking his own sweet time getting around to it, isn’t he? Well, maybe something went wrong and he had to put things on hold. Mm hmm. Like what? Somehow Abe got away. Jerry said he saw Abe fall into the water.

Well, that’s better than him saying he pushed him in. Partner, if this is a kidnapping, why would you kill the hostage without even asking for a penny? Oh, b b better yet, better yet, if he saw Abe fall into the water, why did he even open his damn mouth? You and I both know how many rants have been paid out for people who are already dead.

And, and, and why in God’s name would he hang around until the police showed up? The only reason we know his name is because he talked to Eli and Rafe. So think about it. If Prentiss is the guy who kidnapped Abe, then everything he did after that makes absolutely no sense. Yeah. Maybe the guy’s just dumb as dirt.

Hey. Machine’s talking. Got an error message. Maybe he was trying to print something before he left. Ticket. Boarding pass.

Document jam.

Here we go.

Okay, Ty. I just got myself worked up to the point where there just, there was just no turning it off. Well, you have been pushed to the limit. Why don’t you just sit here for a little while and try to relax, all right? I’ll come back and recheck your numbers. But I really do think you’re gonna be fine.

She’s wrong. I’m not gonna be fine. Not after the things that I said to you. I was, I was cruel. The last thing I think is that you and Detective Hunter weren’t doing everything you can, and I’m, I’m just so sorry, and I’m mad at myself. Like Kayla said, you were pushed to the limit. We’re good. Yeah, but Lonnie, Lonnie isn’t.

She’s got to get back to the prison in time, and we still don’t know where she is.

Is that her? No. It’s the prison in Maryland.

Do you really think you should talk like this in front of our daughter? This is not helping the situation, Brady. This is a situation that you created. You created it, okay? So it’s over. It’s over. Quiet. Come on, we’re going. Honey, we’re going. But what about Mommy? Mommy? Mommy needs some time to think about what she has done.

Okay, but we, um, I want you to wait by the front door, okay? Rachel. Please wait by the front door, okay?

Fine! You… You’ve gone too far. All this to terrorize me. No, I’m not trying to terrorize you! Shut it! The only thing… The only thing that you had left… Was the fact that I have not told our little girl what kind of woman you really are. But that’s over now. She’s gonna know everything now. Don’t yell at her like that.

I don’t want to go to stay here with mommy. Honey, honey, it’s not gonna happen. We are leaving. We are leaving. We’re leaving. We’re leaving.

Well, said you wanted to see me. What is this about? Uh, well. Brady, he, uh, tore up this custody agreement, and it’s still legal, isn’t it? He tore this up? What happened? Where’s Rachel? Okay, everything just fell apart. Um, but Brady, um, he’ll listen to you, Belle. He’ll listen to you, and he needs to sign this. He does.

He needs to sign this, because you know you’re a mother, and you know…

You know how important it is that Rachel is not cut out of my life. Again. Where is Rachel? She’s with Brady. So where has Rachel been all this time?

You’re not gonna tell me, but I can make a pretty good guess. So let me just say this, Kristen. When you go too far, there are consequences.

Yes, baby. Baby, listen. You have to understand, I didn’t know where you were. Nobody did. I didn’t know if you were safe. I was fine. But I Honey I didn’t know that!

Listen, I want you to go to your room because I don’t know who that is, and then we will talk, okay? I don’t want to talk! Rachel! Go to your room and we will talk. Fine!

Just a minute!

Detective, hi. I was gonna call you. Uh, Rachel’s back. I know. Yeah, and I was right all the time. Kristen had her this whole time. So, you’re welcome to go to the DiMera Mansion and arrest her for kidnapping, please. I’m sorry, Brady. I’m here to arrest you. What are you talking about? What? Did you pull a gun on Kristen and threatened to kill her?

Is that, okay, is that what she told you? She kidnaps our daughter and, and she calls the cops on me? Mommy I did! Yeah,

lookie here. We got today’s bus schedule. About a dozen destinations. And each of those connect to a dozen more. A hell of a lot of places Prentiss could be headed to. Yeah, we gotta get to that terminal before he boards. Was that

smart? Letting it go to voicemail? They were calling to ask where Lonnie is. I just said she’s missing. They would alert federal marshals, she’d officially be a fugitive, and it would only get worse from there. So, what do we do? I have an idea.

Hi, this is Ray Fernandez. I am returning your call about prisoner Lonnie Grant. Yes. Well, I’m with her right now, and I will have her back at the prison before lockdown. Okay.

Well, that bought us some time. Let’s hope it’s enough.

Nikki: What’s wrong, darling? Or do I already know?

Victor: Thinking about our family. How fractured it all is. Maybe, this is the beginning of a downward slope. I certainly have tried everything in my power to bring our family together again. Nothing seems to work.

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Hey. I’ll get a single malt. Neat. Thank you.

Nick: Would you leave sharon the hell alone? Stop trying to find new ways to drag her down.

Chance: Hey! Oh, no. Am I too late? I see you’re closing up.

Sharon: Good eye, detective.

Chance: Yeah, well, I understand if you wanna turn me away, but I’ve just come from booking phyllis.

[ Sharon gasping ]

Sharon: You finally caught her?

Chance: No. She came in on her own. I figured you’d be interested.

Sharon: Are you kidding me? For that, I will keep the place open.

Chance: [ Laughs ] All right.

Victoria: Lucky me you had some free time.

Nate: Lucky me that you were thirsty.

[ Both laughing ]

Victoria: Well, lucky me that you realized that the bar was boring and you suggested that we bring our drinks up here.

Nate: It’s not that it was boring, it’s just I couldn’t do what I wanted to do to you in public, with all those annoying people around. At least, not without getting arrested.

Victoria: Well, lucky you, I would have bailed you out. Then, brought you up here.

[ Nate sighing ]

Nate: You know, I’d like to think that this, whatever we’re calling it, is– is more than just spontaneous sex in a corporate hotel suite.

Victoria: It is much more to me.

Nate: Good. I’m glad to hear it.

Victoria: I’ve actually been trying to think about the best way to bring that up to you.

Nate: Ooh, the dreaded talk.

Victoria: Mm-mm, I dread nothing.

Nate: One of the things I admire most about you.

Victoria: Seriously though… what do you want from this relationship, nate? Experience the feel of a dentist’s clean at home.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Nikki: Now, victor newman, you listen to me. I have never known you to be a defeatist and I’m not going to let you go there now. What has happened to make you feel this this way?

Victor: You know, victoria has become totally unpredictable. I don’t like it.

Nikki: Yeah, I know what you mean.

Victor: When I asked her to take over mccall and have adam run it, she refused, against my wishes, and now, she has pushed her brother, nicholas, out of the company. No warning, nothing.

Nikki: I’m none too pleased about it either.

Victor: I just asked nicholas to join his brother and rebuild mccall into a viable company.

Nikki: Do you think nicholas will agree to do it?

Victor: As long has he moans and groans about the destructive ways of his brother, he might as well join him and prevent him from making further mistakes.

Nikki: Well, maybe, in a perfect world.

Victor: No, sweetheart, in this world, you know? And then, there’s adam. My problem child, adam. He feels totally isolated now that he has lost the baby. You know, it makes me so damn sad. No matter how many times I’ve tried to make him a part of our family, he doesn’t feel like it at all. He feels like an outsider. In many ways, I feel I’ve failed. What I now know… is that I’ve given my children too much reign.

Nikki: I’m not sure I like where this is going.

Adam: Look, I’m not dragging sharon into anything. It was her idea that we merge companies now that she’s the surprising owner of a new one.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Well, undo it now.

Anything. Tell her you changed your mind.

Adam: Nick, I haven’t decided anything, okay? I’m not even sure it’s a good idea.

Nick: From no angle is this a good idea. Have you forgotten how many times over the years you have put sharon though hell?

Adam: How is this any of your business, nick? Or is it all just part of a, “hey, let me show my brother what an ass I think he is?” I mean, shouldn’t you be with sally right now, helping her heal?

Nick: Sally’s strong. She is resilient. She doesn’t need me hovering to help her with her issues. She knows I will be there for her as much as she needs me.

Adam: But your ex is defenseless and needs you to save her from the big, bad wolf, is that it?

Nick: Stop, adam, just stop it. This is not about the women in our lives. As usual, this is about us. Why is it that we can’t trust each other? Why is it that we can’t remain civil with one another for longer than five minutes? I mean, why do we even try? Let’s just quit pretending. Let’s just stop forcing this issue of us being brothers.

Adam: Have you tried, nick? I mean really, sincerely tried. Or is it always about fate stepping in and guiding your hand?

Nick: [ Scoffs ] Fate?

Adam: Faith, for example. That is the closest that you and I have ever come to an actual accord. I mean, I had to risk my freedom, I had to save your daughter’s life and give up a bodily organ for you to be civil to me! And that barely lasted a year. So, who knows? Yeah, maybe, it all is just a wasted, uh, energy. Some pointless exercise trying to appease our father.

Nick: You really believe that?

Adam: Well, just because we’re family, doesn’t mean we have to be nice to each other. So maybe, you’re right, maybe, we’re better off not trying.

Chance: Don’t go in any trouble now.

Sharon: No, no. It’s no trouble.

Chance: Oh, come on, you’ve got the espresso machine off already, it’s fine, don’t worry.

Sharon: Listen, you. I’m gonna give you a black eye whether you like it or not.

[ Laughs ] You know what? Think about it. How many cops can I say that to and get away with it?

Chance: Not too many.

Sharon: Or would you prefer three shots of dead eye?

Chance: Ooh, boy. Yeah, do your worst.

Sharon: Oh, my gosh. You are going to be sorry.

[ Chance laughing ]

Chance: I usually am.

Sharon: So, tell me, how did phyllis seem after being on the run for so many months?

[ Chance sighing ]

Chance: I would say resigned. You know, not defeated. Overall, contrite.

Sharon: I’m sure that michael told her to act that way. And keep her mouth shut.

Chance: Yeah, yeah, if so, she took his advice.

Sharon: Well, phyllis is way too smart not to. Or at least, she thinks she is.

Chance: It was a usual perp walk. You know, fingerprints, photos, arraignment, hearing set. The whole nine yards.

Sharon: Well, tell me, on a scale of one to ten, how much trouble is she in?

Chance: Thirteen and a half, and that’s without the murder charges, which show no signs of going away.

Sharon: I wonder why she decided to turn herself in now?

Chance: Like I said.

Sharon: Right. Kept her mouth shut, for once. Maybe, she was just tired of hiding.

Chance: I got no idea. I guess, we’ll find out soon enough. There was one interesting thing, though.

Sharon: Oh, yeah? What’s that?

Chance: Yeah, baldwin implied they have some special stay-out-of-jail card. I don’t know.

Sharon: Hm, that had to get your radar up.

Chance: Oh, yeah.

Sharon: Well… here you go.

Chance: Thank you.

Sharon: Cheers.

Chance: Cheers. Mm. Nice.

Sharon: So, um, do you want to sit? Or are you still too wound up?

Chance: No, we can sit. Come on. I got time. We could, uh–

Sharon: Oh, I should clean all this up.

Chance: No, this is good. Cameron kirsten is the name on every page. What is this? Is it business stuff? What are you doing with it?

Sharon: I own it now.

Chance: What?

Sharon: Cameron left his company to me and his estate. You’re looking at the new owner of kirsten incorporated.

Nate: I want it all.

Victoria: Do tell.

Nate: I want to work alongside you every day. Become a permanent denizen of the c-suite. Because you and i are an unstoppable force that can take newman enterprises to even greater heights. Crushing the competition, dreaming big and making it happen. Then, going back to our place. A couple that thrives off the energy of working together and then brings it into their personal lives. No– no conflict. No hesitations. No problem we can’t overcome together. And… the sex is always great.

Victoria: You have thought this out.

Nate: Actually, I haven’T. I’m building a vision of the future for you to respond to, in this moment. But it’s sincere.

Victoria: I can see that.

Nate: Looking at you… those beautiful eyes… my path forward is crystal clear. And I have no shame about any of it. The ambition. The desire, the success.

Victoria: Well, like you said, you want it all.

Nate: Tell me you don’T. And then, give me one good reason why we couldn’t and shouldn’t have it. Hey, dad. I got an a on my book report.

Nikki: You have shown remarkable restraint in letting your children guide their own lives. Yes, nicholas is going through a difficult time, but being back at newman reinvigorated him. And victoria, I mean, she’s really come into her own.

Victor: Yeah, well, true, but at what cost? She tossed her own brother aside. And you know why. To allow her lover, nate, to come in through the back door. I don’t trust that guy. Not after what I have seen him do to his own family. And then, there’s adam. I gave him the keys to a new camelot and what does he do? He uses that power to come after newman media. Maybe, you’re right. Maybe, all the restraint has unleashed all of that nonsense.

Nikki: So, where is all of this going?

Victor: I have been too damn easy going with everyone. I’m going to put an end to it.

Nick: This is ironic. We finally agree on something and it’s about us giving up on each other.

Adam: Hmm, well, hey, there’s no rule saying we have to get along just ’cause we are biological brothers. So, it’s best if we just stay out of each other’s way.

Nick: Well, that’s easier said than done, adam, because our father has other plans where we are concerned. He is still really pushing me to go work with you at mccall.

[ Adam scoffing ]

Adam: He’s still on that? I thought I shut him down about that weeks ago.

Nick: Oh, no. He is determined to make that happen. Especially, now that I’ve been given this awesome leave of absence from newman.

Adam: Oh, by victoria paving the way for her new boy toy, that doesn’t surprise me at all.

[ Nick laughing ]

Nick: You knew about that?

Adam: So, how does it feel being cast out of the garden? You know, the first time is always the worst, but you’ll adjust.

Nick: Thanks for the tip.

Adam: Personally, I’m starting to like it here better. There’s way fewer snakes.

Nick: And to think, I was actually considering teaming up with you. I mean, I would much rather be the one to keep an eye on you than sally or sharon.

Adam: Listen to me, sally has nothing to do with this. I offered her a job and she shut me down. And sharon came to me with a business proposition. The last thing I need is big brother watching me and reporting back to victor. So, if you think that’s what the endgame should be here–

Nick: No worries, man. All right, you helped me talk myself out of it.

[ Phone chiming ]

Adam: What the hell is this about?

Nick: There’s only one way to find out.

Nate: Uh, victoria.

Victoria: Yeah, I know, I– I just got the same text message. Dad’s summoning us all to the ranch.

[ Sighing ] I’m calling him. Hi. Uh, is everything okay? You– you’re fine? Mom’s fine?

Victor: Everything is fine. There’s been no accident, okay? I just want you all to come out to the ranch.

Victoria: And nate?

Victor: Bring nate along.

[ Victoria sighing ]

Victoria: I really don’t like this. There’s been no medical emergency, and yet, he’s calling the family and you together.

Nate: It’s about newman.

Victoria: Most likely. And I have a feeling that it’s not gonna be good.

Trelegy for copd.

Nick: Mom? Dad?

Nikki: We’re in here, honey.

Nick: Hey.

Victor: Son, thank you for coming.

Nick: Yeah. Before anything, are you guys okay?

Nikki: We are both just fine.

Nick: Okay, good, that’s all I could think about on the way over here.

Nikki: Oh, I’m sorry. I asked your father to make sure that it was clear in the text, but…

Nick: What’s going on? Why’d you call us?

Victor: I’ll let you know once everyone’s here.

Adam: I assume this is another step in your futile plan to force me to hire nick at adustus international.

Nick: That’s what you’re calling mccall now?

Adam: Mm-hmm. You like it?

Nick: No. Not really.

Nikki: Adustus? What does that even mean?

Victor: Singed and burnt.

Adam: I prefer scorched. As in “scorched earth.” Which is how I plan to proceed now that I’ve seen your latest attempt to manipulate me and control my future.

Victor: That’ll all stop tonight.

Tucker: Hey. Oh, no. You look like you world’s about to come to an end. What’s the matter?

Audra: Nothing I can’t handle.

Tucker: Ah, so, there is something.

Audra: Why are you in such a good mood?

Tucker: Mm, audra, stars are aligning for me in ways that I didn’t think was possible six weeks ago. My life is finally coming together, at long last. In fact, I would like to buy you a drink to celebrate. May I?

Chance: Kirsten left you his company?

Sharon: I know. I couldn’t believe it either.

Chance: This is the last thing I expected you to say.

Sharon: Well, think about how I felt. I had no inkling this was coming. It was a total shock.

Chance: Yeah. I can imagine.

Sharon: When cameron’s law firm sent me the notification letter, I was really weirded out. I thought, “why me?” I know that the man was obsessed with me, but–

Chance: That’s next level.

Sharon: Yeah, and then I realized, “why not me?” The last I knew, cameron didn’t have any family to speak of. And then, it occurred to me, maybe this is the one positive legacy that mad man will leave behind.

Chance: What you gonna do? Are you going to sell it and donate the money or what?

Sharon: Unfortunately, cameron left his company in shambles, so I doubt there would be very many buyers. I mean, the books are a mess. Several of the entities are near bankruptcy. And, you know, the balance sheets are–

Chance: I get it. [ Laughs ]

Sharon: So, suffice it to say, I will not be selling.

Chance: But you do have a plan though, clearly.

Sharon: Yes, I do. I am going to run this company and turn it into something new. Revitalized.

Chance: Wow. Wow, sharon, that– that’s amazing.

Sharon: And I have to say, it’s doing the same for me. I haven’t felt this energized in– I don’t know when.

Chance: I can tell. I really can.

Sharon: At first, I was repulsed. After all the horrible things that man did to faith and me, the whole thing seemed like the equivalent of blood money. But then, I don’t know, when I looked into it, I saw that these core businesses are sound. I mean, they may be understaffed and– and somewhat of a shambles, but they’re still generate a revenue.

Chance: You, uh– you saw the possibilities, yeah?

Sharon: I saw an opportunity, chance. To turn evil into something good. And even with cameron’s craziness hanging over this… him leaving me this business has given me a new direction. It’s given me new purpose and I just can’t wait to see where this takes me.

[ Chance chuckling ]

Chance: Look at you, sharon. This is– this is amazing how this has you right now and it– it makes me really happy.

Sharon: Well, you might not like this next part. I approached adam about merging this company with mccall unlimited. When I did my research, I found that his streaming entities rely on the proprietary software that kirsten incorporated produces.

Chance: Well, that sounds pretty reasonable.

Sharon: Except for the adam part.

[ Both chuckling ]

Chance: Look, I– I know some of the history just seems like it never really ended well for you.

Sharon: Well, you don’t have to give up on someone entirely, right? I mean, especially when there’s this happy coincidence, and especially when there’s such potential for mutual success for both of these companies. And the key word there is mutual because I’m doing this just as much for me as for adam, if not more so. I mean, I don’t know if a merger is going to happen, but I’m very optimistic.

Chance: Well, sharon, who am I to rain on all that joy? In fact, it’s pretty infectious. I just– I love seeing you this way. Somedays, I cover up because of my moderate

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. What can you do with sensitive skin?

Sharon: Wait. Wait a minute.

[ Keys jangling ]

[ Lock clicks closed ] Hold on.

[ Both panting ] Let’s go back to my office.

Chance: Good idea.

Audra: I’m surprised you’re even talking to me.

Tucker: Why would that be, for heaven’s sake?

Audra: Well, tucker, we haven’t been on the best of terms.

Tucker: Oh. I forgive you. Now, what’s your poison?

Audra: Uh, something red.

Tucker: Hm. Evan, how about a glass of that not so bad cabernet I had the other day for lunch. Actually, you know what? Italian. Borgo. Your best borgo. And I will have un altro. Grazie.

Audra: Italian’s a new flavor for you.

Tucker: Well, I’m a man of the world, which is my oyster. Or whatever mollusk you want.

[ Snorts ] I love that word. Mollusk. You can’t say it without clipping the k at the end. Try it.

Audra: No, I’m good thank you.

Tucker: Oh. Mollusk. It’s fantastic. What were we talking about?

Audra: Oh, yeah, you were, um, about to satisfy my curiosity about, you know, whatever’s going so incredibly right for you.

Tucker: We were talking about tucker mccall. Well, I’ll tell you this. I am on the verge of everything.

Audra: An all-encompassing list.

Tucker: That’s right. You want to know what the key?

Audra: Oh, I’m dying to hear.

Tucker: You got to throw away the past, audra. That’s right. You gotta get rid of all that bad karma. Mccall unlimited. [ Scoffs ] Let adam sink into the mire with that thing. And I’m free, baby. I am– I’m focused and passionate. Ah. Grazie. The world with all its enthralling possibilities is now mine.

Victor: I have come to the disappointing conclusion that I gave all of you too much power, too much freedom, too much reign to do as you saw fit with whatever company I gave you, okay? I gave you the chance to run mccall. Turned it down. For what reason, I don’t quite understand.

Adam: What’s so hard to understand?

Victor: I am talking. Then, you pushed your brother out of the company. We all know why. To bring in nate. Be part of the inner circle. I don’t blame you for seeing promise in nate. I do too. But I don’t trust you, after what I’ve seen you do to your own family. Now, after you refused to run mccall, I bought the damn company, I gave it to you. What did you do? You used it as a bulldozer to come after newman media! I’ve had enough! What does that mean? It means that from now on, I call the shots. I lay down the law. You do as I want you to do.

Audra: You’re, uh, glowing and talking in generalities. Haven’t told me anything specific. So, to be honest, you sound drunk and you’re rambling.

[ Tucker laughing ]

Tucker: Oh, dear audra.

Audra: Am I wrong?

Tucker: No, you’re not wrong. I am rambling. As for drunk, I am a bit giddy. Just because I’m so freaking happy. I don’t think it has anything to do with the whisky.

Audra: Look, I don’t know what that has to do with anything. You know, you keep avoiding the particulars. Is it a secret? The catalyst for all this joy?

Tucker: Hm.

Audra: Or are you just making the whole thing up?

Tucker: Hm, I would be more than happy to enlighten you as to the particulars of the catalysts of my joy, but not at this time, you see, because I’m a bit afraid of jinxing it. And, all due respect, whether you believe or don’t believe what I say is true, won’t mean a thing to me.

Audra: Hm. Well, this is a new tucker. You know, in the past, when I’ve accused you of lying, you’d just get all cagey and defensive. Could it really be that tucker mccall is evolving? But I’m happy for you because my future is looking very promising as well.

Tucker: Is it?

Audra: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: Do tell.

Audra: Hey.

Tucker: Kyle abbott?

Audra: Oh, my god.

Tucker: That’s what you consider a promising future?

Audra: Mm-hmm.

[ Both panting ]

Victor: Starting tomorrow, nicholas, you will help adam run adustus. Make it a strong, viable company. Whatever’s good for the company you keep, the rest out. Nate, you will continue as coo under victoria. Once adustus has become a strong, viable company, we’ll make it a subsidiary of newman enterprises as it should have been long ago.

Adam: Listen to me, we– wh– I thought we had an agreement.

Victor: I don’t give a damn about past agreements. This is how it will work. You don’t like the new arrangement, walk out the door. I want an answer now.

Nick: Sure. Fine.

Victoria: Well, you haven’t really left me much of a choice.

Victor: How about you, son?

[ Adam scoffing ] Kayaking is my thing.

Audra: Do you have something against kyle?

Tucker: Nah, of course not. Nah, he’s just another spoiled rich kid who lucked his way into a high-ranking position through no merit of his own. He certainly likes to pretend he cares about it all. He’s very handsome. So, if you want to have a good time with him, go for it. I just wouldn’t expect too much to sink your teeth into.

Audra: Well, I disagree. I see real potential in the man. And so much so that I hired him to be my right hand man–

Tucker: Get out.

Audra: At newman media. Yes I did.

Tucker: Was that before or after you had a little, uh, roll in the hay with him?

[ Both laughing ]

Audra: I’m not playing this little game with you, tucker. I’m very pleased with my decision and where things are going for me all around.

Tucker: I’ll bet you a trip with me to vegas that he’s going to let you down.

Audra: Well, I’m not going to take that bet.

Tucker: Yeah, it’s ’cause you know you’re gonna lose. And you’re going with me to vegas.

Audra: No. Because I don’t want to mess up your little apparent, uh, winning streak you’re on. All right.

Tucker: All right.

Audra: Good night. Thanks for the drink.

Tucker: Got get ’em, tiger.

[ Audra sighing ]

[ Victoria chuckling ]

Nate: This is exactly how you hoped it would all play out.

Victoria: We have mccall unlimited with little to no bloodshed, I might add. Adam is humiliated and he’s either subservient to us or he’s gone. I could’ve done with a little less scolding, but if that’s all it took…

Nate: Easy-peasy.

Chance: Mm. You know, when I came by earlier…

[ Chance chuckling ]

Sharon: You didn’t expect the evening to end this way?

Chance: Mm-mm. Any regrets?

Sharon: No.

[ Knocking on door ]

Chance: No one’s here, man. We’re closed.

[ Knocking on door ]

[ Chance sighing ]

Sharon: Hmm. Sounds a little more urgent than someone wanting coffee.

[ Knocking on door ]

Chance: Jeez.

Sharon: Oh, look. Two calls from adam.

[ Knocking on door ]

Nick: I haven’t seen you this fired up in a long time, dad.

Victor: Well, my boy, thank you for falling in line with what had to be done.

Nikki: Unlike adam.

Victor: I gave adam a choice. He made it. So be it. We move forward.

Nick: You pushed him into a corner. He reacted.

Nikki: He may change his mind.

Nick: Oh, I fully expect him to. If adam goes along with this, he’s going to be more volatile and unpredictable than ever.

Victor: I promise you one thing. If he doesn’t get in line… I’m done with him.

[ Knocking on door ]

Adam: I saw– I– I saw your car in the lot, that’s why I knew you were still here.

Sharon: Adam, is everything okay? What’s going on?

Adam: Victor pulled a fast one. I’m walking away from adustus. So, your proposed merger is now moot. But I’m happy to come in with you though. We can turn kirsten’s company around together. I want nothing more to do with my family… or my father.

[ Adam sighing ]

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Indistinct conversations ] Nice dress. Mm. When did you even have time to go shopping? I didn’T. I brought it with me. Do you always pack outfits like that for business trips? Hello. Excuse me. My name is lucy coe. I believe in always being prepared. And what exactly are you preparing for in that? Excuse me. You’re the one who told me to bring kind of glam, grieving-widow-type garb. That’s what this is. Well, the widow is done grieving. And maybe out for revenge on martin? Brook lynn: What is that noise? I don’t know. It sounds like…

[ Rattling, creaking ] …That. Do you think someone’s in there? Well, ghosts aren’t usually that loud, so yes.

[ Thud in distance ] Wait!

[ Metal clattering ] Damn you, ned! I got your message, but i thought we were having dinner. Why are we meeting here? Little change of plans. How would you like to go to a concert instead? Here? I really don’t think the plaza’s set up for that sort of thing.

[ Guitar strums, mid-tempo music plays ] Revenge?

Moi? I think you want to get back at martin for keeping secrets from you and for not asking you to marry him. Okay. Maybe I admit that if one jackson montgomery, this handsome, tall, debonair fella, wants to lavish attention on me, then, yeah, it does make me feel a teeny-tiny bit triumphant. I knew it. But, more importantly, I really want you to prove that my marty is not running some kind of scam on me, because then I can actually, maybe once and for all, live happily ever after, even if I don’t get to walk down the aisle. So, thusly, this dress is my tool to give you time to search his office. I think this dress could work to keep him occupied. Don’t you think? Well, if it doesn’t, it’s not for lack of trying.

[ Whispering ] Showtime. I’m so, so sorry that I am late. You wouldn’t believe the day that I have had. I almost canceled on you. Then you definitely need…that. Thank you. Mm! Mm! Oh, I heard about curtis getting shot. If you feel like you need to be at the hospital, I do not mind. Well, he’s out of surgery, but he’s still unconscious, and there’s nothing that any of us can do but just wait. And on top of all that, a major advertiser pulled out of this big ad campaign, and now sasha is in this weird legal trouble. So please, please tell me that you wanted to have a drink because you have good news to share with me. No can do. Oh. What happened? Mm. I had sex with austin. Offering myself up as bait is the best way for us to find out who shot curtis. Yeah, except for the part where you put yourself in danger. Well, it’s not exactly new territory for me, is it? Well, this is different. Whoever shot curtis used a stolen rifle from the wsb arsenal. Yeah, I know. Something’s off about that. I mean, it just doesn’t make sense that the bureau would want me dead. Is it possible somebody within the organization went rogue? Maybe. Gonna have to set a good trap for them. W– you — what? You — you’re really gonna do this? Yes! I’m not going to live under a constant threat. Okay. I get that. But — but there’s other ways of handling this. Your plan is a little… a little dangerous, a little reckless. I like it.

You had sex with austin? Surprise. Well, now I’m definitely glad I came tonight.

[ Chuckles ] I’m glad I could make your day. Okay. So, I know that you went to the nurses’ ball with him. But you haven’t talked about him since, so I just figured nothing came of it. Oh, quite the opposite, actually. Things have, um, definitely escalated. Well, obviously. How long has this been going on? Mm, well… we only just slept together for the first time. I’m a little confused here, because you’re acting like sleeping with a hot doctor is a problem. Isn’t it a good thing? There you are! I’ve been looking all over for you. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. My god, I missed you. Isn’t that brook lynn’s dad, who…hit his head and thinks he’s a rock star? Yeah. He, uh, goes by eddie maine now. Brook lynn’s uncle sonny has been keeping a close eye on him, but she’s on edge because of the shooting at the metro court last night. I said I’d help watch him and report anything alarming back to the doctors. And the pcpd is okay with this? Oh, strictly off-duty hours. Oh. Giving up your free time. That’s a big commitment. Oh, I don’t mind. It’s for brook lynn. She means a lot to you. She means everything to me. So, uh, I hope you don’t mind hanging out here instead of going to dinner. Not at all. I’m — I’m proud of you for helping brook lynn out. I’m sure it’s a big relief to her. She seemed so tense last night. Oh, that was all her grandmother tracy’s doing. What’s that harpy done now? Olivia! God! You scared me! What are you doing? Why are you throwing things? Why are you yelling about dad? Because I am looking for the supplies that we need to set up the games for the general hospital fundraiser picnic, and I cannot find them, and ned is not here to ask, and I — I can’t do this by myself! It’s okay. We’ll help with the picnic. It’s not just about the picnic. It’s every damn thing! It’s our whole life. Our entire life just — just stopped. Ned is supposed to be here beside me. I need my husband. I miss him. I miss him, too. Hey, mama q, we have a little situation here. Lucy, lucy, lucy. Look at you. You look absolutely ravishing in that dress. Mm. Well, thank you. You’re welcome. This old thing? I-I just didn’t even remember I had it. Hello. Hi, felicia. Good to see you again. Nice to see you, too, mr. Montgomery. No, no, no. Jack, please. My friends call me jack. Uh, w-would you like to join us? No. No. Um, she was just keeping me company while I was waiting. And now I have all the company I need, so… oh, my. …Ta, felicia. Ah, thank you. I have other plans. Okay. Good enough. You two have fun. All right. Enjoy. But not too much fun.

[ Laughs ] Shall we? Oh, please. I’d be delighted. Y-you’re not helping. I have to get out ahead of this, dante. And you know what? I don’t need anyone’s approval or permission in order to handle it the way I see fit. Okay. I’m not saying you do, but you really want to make yourself vulnerable to a potential, you know, rogue wsb agent?

[ Sighs ] Dante is right to be concerned. It is dangerous and reckless. But I think it’S… the only way to nail this bastard.

Do you guys hear it? I mean, this is crazy. That’s a crazy plan. It’s dangerous. Anna was a wsb agent for years. I trust she knows what she’s doing, dante. I’m not doubting her abil– I’m not doubting your abilities. Okay. I get your concern. But this is my choice. It’s just when — when someone’s trying to assassinate you, you usually don’t run

to the bullets. You run, you know, away from the bullets. Well, I have done that. Okay. May I remind you that I was in a safe house and it didn’t end up being very safe. I was shot there. And I am done running. Sonny: This plan gives anna the advantage. She lets the enemy come to her on her terms whenever she’s ready. Right. Instead of just laying there, waiting for someone to strike, you smoke them out. I-I’ve run ops like this before. I’m sure you’ve been a part of many successful operations, anna. But that was when you were with the wsb, when you had their resources. That’s not the case anymore. It’s all different now. Harpy? That’s a little harsh, don’t you think? You know, given what that woman has done, I think “harpy” is very generous. You weren’t this hostile toward her at dinner. Well, maybe that’s because she actually attempted to be pleasant last night, as opposed to some of my more recent interactions with her. She was almost civil. Huh. You think she was just pretending? I’m not sure. All I know is that tracy quartermaine does very few things that don’t serve her own agenda. I agree. But why are you saying that? Has she done something to you? Actually, she did something for me. Uh, brook lynn asked for her help after the ccrb first met and took away my badge, and she used her connections to get me a second meeting. You think she had an ulterior motive for doing that? Hey! You’re that singing detective, right? Uh — uh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Arrest that man. My god! Honey, what happened?! When I got home, I saw that comet wasn’t in the stable. So I went looking for him. Found leo riding him. They were going pretty fast. Took a sharp turn. Leo lost his balance. Honey, are you all right? Yeah, I’m all right. But it does hurt. I checked him out. Some obvious, you know, cuts and bruises, but nothing too serious.

[ Sighs ] Sweetheart, you could have been killed. That horse is dangerous. Someone ought to give a call to the good people at elmer’S. Comet made sure not to step on me after I fell. It’s not his fault. You’re right. But you know you’re not supposed to do that. You can’t tell me what to do. You’re not my dad. So, should we get all the standard, boring questions out of the way? Uh, I have a feeling that you are never, ever boring. But, yes… oh, my. …If that gets us to all the fun parts, sure. Let’s go. Okay. Well, here we go. Can I have, uh, a bottle of the ’78 margaux, please? Thank you. That’s a rare bottle. I think you’re probably a rare woman. The owner — I handled his divorce a few years ago, and he felt so grateful that he kept some of his special stuff in stock just for me. Mm. Divorce. I really thought you were just a probate lawyer. No, I actually consider myself a generalist specializing in many things. Oh, do tell. Oh, wait. Sorry. W-where were we? What were we talking about? Oh, I think we were right at the point where I was asking as much as I could find out about you. So…where are you from? What do you do?

[ Laughs ] Okay. Home is port charles. Okay. And I run a very, very successful cosmetic company. Well, that’s ironic. Why is that? Well, I mean, you would still be beautiful without a stitch of makeup on. You know, I, uh, actually spent some time in port charles. Oh. Yeah. Still have a few friends there, in fact. You don’t happen to know… anna devane, do you? Uh, y-yo u know, I do.I know of her — that she is… thank you! …A big supporter of the — the nurses’ ball there. Your maiden name wouldn’t happen to be coe, would it? Wow. Such a very specific…guess. No. That’s a very educated guess. You see, I know exactly who you are and what you’re doing here.

Now what youmean or what you’re even saying. But now i am at a disadvantage ’cause you know a little bit about me, and I don’t even know what your hobbies may be. How do you unwind? I like to keep up to date on the business world. For instance, you say you’re from port charles and you run a very successful cosmetics business. Well, that must be deception, right? And that makes you the infamous lucy coe. You’re quite the detective, aren’t you? I just happen to know a lot about that world, you know? Your — your company’s been doing very well lately. Mm! Yes. Uh, thank you. That’s very true. I — I take it, though, you are not one of those men that get easily intimidated by a very successful woman, right?

[ Laughing ] No. No, not so intimidated anymore. But I will give you a warning. I don’t like being used. And what does that mean? I think I know exactly why you’re here. My ex-wife, erica kane, was quite famous for owning enchantment cosmetics. You were married to erica kane? Oh, come on. Don’t do that. Don’t do that. A-and that would explain why you’re here instead of grieving your late husband. Look, you should know that erica and I were divorced years ago, and she divested herself of enchantment a long, long time ago. Hey, you know what… jack? You couldn’t be more wrong about why I am here. The reason I’m here has absolutely nothing to do with the cosmetic business. Hey! Chase: You want me to arrest… time’s up, pete townshend. Uh, my name’s eddie maine. Who the hell are you? I’m the musician that’s gonna have you thrown in jail. Whoa! Everybody, calm down. Uh, tell me what’s going on. My name’s seth. Krueger? I’m here every day. Everyone in the buskers’ circle knows that this is my spot. He can’t just steal it. So go ahead. Arrest him. Uh, actually, I’m off duty. So? You lose your ability to protect the public when you’re off the clock? No, but this is a public place. It’s not illegal for him to be standing in this space. Unless you have a permit. Ugh. Permits aren’t very rock ‘n’ roll. Preach! Look, dude, uh, I’m sorry if I stole your territory. I’m new here. I’m just doing my thing, trying to get heard. This is a great spot. Hey. Hey, maybe we can share it, play a couple tunes together. Ugh. No way! I play grunge. I don’t need my songs ruined by your old-man sound.

[ Laughing ] Ohh. That’s good. Wait a minute. Isn’t grunge like 30 years old? ’90s nostalgia is huge right now. Well…I guess there’s only one way to settle this. We’ll have to play for it. Thank you so much for helping him out. Does he need a doctor? You want me to go with you to G.H.? No. No, no. Nothing’s broken. He just needs a little tlc from his mom. Okay, sweetie. I’m gonna take you up and get you all fixed up and feeling better, okay? Okay. Thank you. I’m so glad you were there to help leo. Who knows how much worse it could’ve been if he was by himself? That’s what we pay him for! Why didn’t you stop him? Stop it, grandmother. It’s not his job to be around all the time. Besides, we all know what’s really going on here. Leo is acting out because he misses dad. Obviously. My son is a fool, out god knows where, calling himself eddie maine, pretending to be a rock star while his whole family suffers. Actually, we do know where. Chase found dad busking at rice plaza. Busking? We’re quartermaines. We don’t busk. Eddie maine does. I’m, uh, I’m really sorry you guys are going through this. Is there anything I can do to help?

[ Sighs ] No. Because, as usual, there is only one person who can put things to right. Me. So, uh, what are you two talking about? We were talking about you! Ava’s been holding out on me. Well, you know our girl. She knows when to keep her mouth shut. Isn’t that right? Yeah. Yes. Of course. No. I — you know, I was waiting to tell nina because I wanted to be sure that this… thing between us was real. Feels real to me. Yeah. I think that ava and i have the potential of something very special. Well, I…am gonna go to the ladies’ room. I’ll just leave that there, and when I get back, I want to hear about how all of this happened. I’ve been an agent most of my life, right? My skills didn’t just evaporate because I was told I had to resign from the bureau. I didn’t say they did. I may not have access to any of their assets anymore, but I don’t need them. Don’t forget — I worked outside of the wsb. I feel capable of bringing in this person, whoever it is that’s after me, without them. So that’s it? You decided, and no talking you out of this? No. No, there isn’T. Okay. So that’s the plan. I got to meet nina. My offer still stands. If you need anything, just let me know. I’ll keep you posted. And for whatever it’s worth, my money… …is on anna. Uh, just so you know, my money’s on you, too. Why are you fighting me so hard? Because I care about you and i don’t want to see you get hurt. Someone almost killed curtis, and I feel responsible for that. And this is my life, and I’m going to handle it my way. Okay. So i f you insist on doing this, then we do it together.

No one tells me how to run my operations. But you’re not with the wsb anymore, and you’re not a cop. But I am. And I’ve done special ops, too. And I know that what you’re proposing is not a single-person operation. And you do, too. You need backup. So let me… let me be your backup. What? No. The pcpd would never agree to that. I guess, then, pcpd doesn’t know about it. I’m not gonna put your job in jeopardy. Really? That’s my life, my choice, right? I see what you did there. I’ve known you a long time, anna. Been by your side for… the wsb, the pcpd. Trust me enough to do that again. I’m giving you one last chance to back off before you humiliate yourself. Ah. Bold words from someone your age. I’ve been playing rock ‘n’ roll since you were in diapers. Fine. You really want to do this? Mm-hmm. Here’s how it’s gonna go. We trade off songs. Then the audience decides who gets to stay. What audience? Great! I’ll let you go first since this will be the last time you actually play on this spot.

[ Mid-tempo introduction plays ] Edward lawrence quartermaine ashton! Uh, my name is — I know what your name is! I gave it to you after 24 hours of labor! Excuse me, lady. We’re in the middle of something here. Oh, please go embarrass your parents someplace else. This has gone on long enough. I’m putting a stop to it right now. It’s a good thing lucy isn’t the only one who comes prepared. Oh, wow. I do love a man with a good… pour. I have a fine, steady hand.

[ Chuckles ] Do you like a man who likes to pair his margaux with, um, oysters on a half shell? Mm. Oysters. Now you’re talking.

[ Both laugh ]

[ Cellphone chimes ] Excuse me. You got to be kidding. Um…I’m sorry. I’m — I’m gonna have to cut our evening short. W– you’re l– you’re leaving? Yeah. I’ve got a-a client issue that I have to handle at the office. I’m so sorry to end our evening like this. Hmm! You know, um, it really would be such a shame to end this evening. I mean, this wine is absolutely delicious. It would be a shame to waste a beautiful night. You know, I-I think your client would understand, because I just feel like maybe something a little sweet, and it would definitely be worth your while. What are you doing here? Please tell me that you’re not following me around. Oh, please. No. Come on. I went to wyndemere to look for you, and your very friendly housekeeper told me where I could find you. Well, she’s definitely fired. Well, in her defense, she thought it was an emergency because I told her that it was an emergency. So, I heard from mason. I’m not interested in anything that weasel has to say. Yeah. Uh, h-he’s very pleased with how we set up avery’s nanny. How you set her up, you mean. Yeah. Okay. He’s not concerned with the details. He just wants somebody to work as a mole inside sonny’s house so he can get the information that he needs on sonny. And he wants this woman.

[ Cellphone beeps ] This — do you know — do you know this — this betty rutherford? No. But she’s the woman that mason wants to spy on sonny. No. No, I can’t do it. I told you. Going against sonny is risky enough. But I draw a hard line at letting a stranger I know nothing about into my daughter’s life. I can’T. So, mason thought you might respond this way, and so he told me what to say if you did respond this way. Okay. He said to tell you that ryan’s bar is a wonderful place. I don’t know what that means, but he said that you would know. Oh, I do. He’s threatening my mother.

Ryan’s bar is where my mother, delia, works. I have no idea how mason could have found her. She gave me up… for adoption. I mean, there aren’t even any public records tying us together. I’m so sorry. That’s a real low blow. But, you know, mason and — and everyone that he deals with, they play dirty. That’s why we don’t have a choice. We have to do what they say.

[ Sighs ] I can’t stand this. This is no picnic for me either. But, hey, we play along, and… I don’t know. Hopefully, it’ll be over soon. I’ll call mason as soon asyou give me the word. Hiya. Oh! Hiya, sonny. What are you doing here? Uh, nina asked me to meet her here. Do you, uh, want to join us? Okay. Never mind. Well, I’m glad you’re here, because we really should talk about pilar. Yeah. Well, you know, look, pilar has been with my family for years, and I had her, you know, take some time off. So that way, when she comes back from vacation, she’ll be a lot more focused. No, I — it’s gonna take a lot more than — than a vacation to restore my faith in her. Pilar obviously needs help, especially now, since she’s going back and forth between your place and carly’s place. That’s why I’ve decided that I’m — I’m going to be hiring my own nanny to take care of avery. That’s not gonna work for me. Cody: How’s leo doing? I mean, I bandaged up his leg, and I got him set up with his books and some cookies. And then he asked mewhen his dad was coming home. I don’t know what to tell him. I mean, I can patch up his little body, but… how am I supposed to fix his broken heart? You’re — you’re helping more than you know, mama Q. You’re a good mom. I just want this whole nightmare to be over. I want my husband back home, where he belongs. I’m gonna say this for the last time, lady. I am not your son, and you are not my mother. That’s a delusion. Eddie maine is not real. He doesn’t exist. It’s a fake name to go with a fake life. You are ned quartermai ne,former mayor of port charles, ceo, loving son, husband, father. That’s real.

[ Children shouting in distance ] I’m sorry if I’m hurting so many people. But even if what you’re saying is true… I don’t remember any of it. Then fake it! What? You’re living a pretend life. I know you can do it. So why don’t you just act like you care about the people who care about you and are heartbroken that you’ve deserted them? You’re asking me to be someone I’m not. Oh, my god. You are my son — my annoying, stubborn, smart, beautiful boy. And if you don’t remember that, I can get you the help that you need. And until then, allow me to fill in the gaps. You have a wife who loves you. You have a daughter who needs you. And yo u have a little boywho got hurt today because he was acting out because he misses you so much! You have a wonderful life. Look at me! You have a wonderful life. Just come back to it. Please come back to it! I’m sorry. I can’T. Gotcha. Let’s see what martin’s been hiding. Well, I guess I could stay a little longer. Mm. Well, I think that’s a very good idea. And I really do feel like something very sweet. How about…a soufflé? A soufflé? Mm. You know how long those take to make. You don’t say?

[ Chuckles ] You — you’re — you’re bad.

[ Laughs ] What’s wrong? Oh, nothing. I just — I-I found… I find it so fascinating that they have hummingbird cake on the menu, which is actually extremely rare. Huh. I never noticed that. I-I’m not very fond of it. You don’t like hummingbird cake? Are you kidding? Oh, my gosh. It– it’s so sweet. And it’s reliable and dependable… most of the time. I didn’t know you were so passionate about it. I’m sorry. Uh, no, no. I’m — I’m not. Um, no. It’s just my, um, my aunt charlene. Uh, she loves, loves hummingbird cake. In fact, she has her favorite secret recipe she loves. Oh, well, I am sure I would love, love your aunt charlene’S. You would. It’s amazing. I mean — wait. Listen. It has toasted almonds, and then she takes the nutmeg that enhances kind of the cinnamon… mmm. …And then this kind of tahitian vanilla. I don’t know what it does, but it brings out tropical flavors. And then the very best part. My favorite part is when she puts in — bourbon. Bourbon.

[ Chuckles softly ] How did you know? I really appreciate your offer of help. I-I really do. Well, good. Then say yes. No. You keep pointing out how dangerous this is. Right. Yeah. So the best chance you have of staying safe is — is for us to work together. You have a family. This isn’t just about physical safety. I saw how hard it was for you to overcome your ptsd and that you really struggled with that for a long time. And I don’t think I could live with myself if I felt responsible for you going through anything like that again. Okay? Well, I appreciate that, anna. I do. But, uh… I’m a grown man. And I take responsibility for all my choices. And, yeah, I went through hell and back with everything and — and the ptsd. And there were some days where I didn’t think I was gonna make it, but I did. And everything I went through then and since then… …has shown me how strong I am and what I’m capable of. And I’d be betraying the man I’ve become if I let you put yourself in harm’s way and I didn’t help you.

I know you don’t trust pilar at the moment. And, you know, I’m not thrilled with pilar right now. You know, she lost avery, and I can’t stop you from hiring who you want to hire to look after avery. But whoever you hire, I need to approve who’s in my daughter’s life. Everything okay? Yeah. Yeah. Well, that’s up to ava. Ava: Of course everything’s okay. Yes. Yes. I will contact you before I interview candidates. Good. So, um, I’ll be expecting your call. Okay. Uh, come on. Let’s go. Okay. What do you know about austin? Uh, I know that he’s a doctor. And I also know that he helped save maxie and bailey lou. And was– wasn’t he the one that found avery? Yeah, he did. And now him and ava, they’re dating. I always thought that he was a good guy. When did — when did this start, this relationship? Well, they went to the nurses’ ball together — why? Well, I mean, if he’s gonna be around my daughter, I’m gonna have to get to know him a little better. It would be great having someone with your experience have my back like that, but, um… …I have too many reservations about you risking your life for me. Well, you can have as many reservations as you want. You just have to accept. I’m sorry. What? All right. Look. Here’s the deal. I-I didn’t want to do this, but either you agree to us working together… or I go to robert and mac and tell them what you’re up to. Are you blackmailing me? Yeah, I totally am. But I’m also protecting you, ’cause they wouldn’t want you to do this on your own either. That’s a nice move. Yeah. I like my chess.

[ Laughs ] So what do you say? Partners? Partners. Okay. Enough of the pity party. I’m gonna get dinner started. Cody, you are welcome to stay. You’ve had a rough night. Just let me order some pizza. But it’s not thanksgiving. Oh, cooking soothes me. And I just —

But it doesn’t matter. We still do anything for them. What do you want, gregory? I’d like to have a few words with you about how you meddled in chase’s life. Jackpot.

this can’t happen. You and– and thomas? Have you forgotten everything that he’s done to your family? What were you thinking?

Hope: I’m not thinking. I’m feeling and I have never felt a connection like this before.

Brooke: Honey, I’m not gonna allow it. I am not gonna allow you to throw away your life, your marriage, your family for this. This affair with thomas ends tonight.

Wyatt: Liam, you have every right to feel hurt and angry. You’re allowed to feel all of those feelings. But the question is, is if you’re gonna allow that hurt and anger to just completely destroy years of history and a family.

Liam: I– I wish that question had an answer, wyatt.

[ Wyatt scoffing ]

Wyatt: Fine. Here’s a different question then. Do you still love hope? Because if the answer to that is yes, then you have to try and forgive her. Talk to her, listen to her. You gotta do whatever you can to save that marriage before it’s too late.

Steffy: I’m sorry, finn had to rush out. He had to see one of his patients. Moving him out of the icu.

Ridge: Well, I’m glad he’s got his priorities straight, but we did have a date tonight. We were gonna talk about the game.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, you were gonna talk about soccer all night long.

Ridge: Not all night long, just most of the night and it’s called football.

Steffy: Oh, okay.

Ridge: Okay. Anyway…

[ Steffy laughing ] You got a good man, even if he supports peterborough.

Steffy: No, I actually am really grateful. We’ve been talking about that, just how grateful we are for this life. Our beautiful family. Kelly and hayes. Everything’s just so easy with him. It really works and I just feel so lucky. Especially considering everything that’s going on between liam and hope. Because she kissed thomas.

Ridge: I feel for hope and liam. That’s tough.

Steffy: Yeah, it really rocked liam. I mean, he’s not himself.

Ridge: I get that. Look, I know I can say this to you. I’m a little concerned about thomas backsliding with all the fallout. He’s worked so hard.

Steffy: Yeah, I know. I wish it never happened.

Ridge: Hope and liam, they’re gonna be fine. He’s gonna forgive her and they’re gonna– gonna move on. It was a kiss. That’s all.

Brooke: Hope, please. You are making a terrible mistake, but it’s not too late. You can go to liam and you can tell him how much you love him and he will forgive you. You know how much he loves you.

Hope: He doesn’t want me anymore, mom. He can’t forgive me. Liam wants a divorce.

Wyatt: You’re right. What hope did, it doesn’t make any sense, but that– that’s why you have to talk to her.

Liam: How could she have feelings for thomas?

Wyatt: You don’t even know that she does!

Liam: Yes, I do, wyatt. Yes, I do. I know what I saw. That kiss was real and passionate and lustful and very freaking deliberate and it made me sick to my stomach, and steffy tried to warn me about this. She told me that there was something going on between the two of them well before–

Wyatt: You’re gonna believe steffy?

Liam: I don’t know what I believe. Here’s what I know, is that hope looked me in the eye and told me that I’m crazy for thinking that anything could happen between the two of them. I’m crazy for doubting that she loves me and our family more than anything in the world.

Wyatt: Well, she does!

Liam: You are asking me to deny reality! What I saw was not a figment of my imagination.

Wyatt: Okay, fine. It wasn’t and I can’t explain it, but you know what? You are the most forgiving person that I know. You, of all people, can find a way.

Liam: See, that– it’s exactly what steffy said. It’s unreal.

Wyatt: She did? You, uh– [ Clears throat ] You talk to steffy a lot lately?

Liam: I mean, yeah, a little.

Wyatt: Is there something you wanna tell me, bro? Some other reason, maybe, you’re not exactly fighting so hard for your marriage right now? How about you tell me how steffy factors into this whole situation, huh?

Ridge: Well, I have to keep an eye on thomas. Tell him to keep his head down and avoid any more drama. I just don’t want him to fall into that black hole. Your mom was worried about that too.

Steffy: Yeah, I told liam it’s gonna take time, but he’s gotta forgive hope.

Ridge: Liam’s very lucky to have you. It’s nice that you guys are still close.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, we, uh– we all make mistakes and I know forgiveness is tough right now, but it’s possible when you love someone. And liam loves hope.

Kelly: Mommy?

Steffy: What’s the matter, baby?

Kelly: I dreamed something happened to daddy. I was crying for him, but he couldn’t hear me.

Taylor: Oh, no. It sounds like you had a bad dream. Oh, baby. Nothing happened to daddy, okay? Remember what he said to you before you fell asleep? What did he say?

Kelly: That he loves me to the moon and back.

Steffy: And he always will.

Brooke: Hope, please. Put yourself in liam’s shoes. He just found out about the kiss. He was reacting to that.

Hope: He means it, mom. Liam wants a divorce. I saw it in his eyes.

Brooke: But that doesn’t mean you should turn to thomas. He’s obviously taking advantage of this situation. Of you.

Hope: Oh, no. Thomas is not taking advantage of me.

Thomas: I don’t want to take advantage of anything, brooke. And I never wanted to break up her marriage.

Brooke: Well, I find that hard to believe since I came in here and found the two of you in bed together.

Thomas: You came over here telling us that you know what I’m saying is true. And I just want hope to be happy.

Brooke: You want her to be happy? Then, send her home to liam where she belongs. She can fix her marriage.

Hope: Wow, mom.

Brooke: Honey, liam may have said that he wanted a divorce, but he didn’t mean it. You know he loves you.

Hope: Liam may love me, but he also loves someone else. He loves steffy. (Rose h) smoking caused my lung cancer.

Wyatt: I know you and steffy are close and everything, but– hm.

Liam: Yeah, we have a daughter and she’s still my friend.

Wyatt: Right. And you said you saw her in rome too? Before and after you– you saw hope.

Liam: Yeah, well, she was at the event, so she knows what happened.

Wyatt: And you’ve talked to her since you’ve been back?

Liam: I have been over to the house, yes.

Wyatt: Yeah. To see kelly?

Liam: Yes, I– I try to see my daughter as much as I possibly can. Is that okay with you?

Wyatt: Hm, is that it though?

Liam: Yeah, I talk to steffy about stuff like–

Wyatt: About hope? About how disillusioned you are? About how– how much you’re feeling betrayed by her right now?

Liam: I mean, yes, steffy knows– she knows how I feel.

Wyatt: Anything else come up? Any old feelings you might have for steffy?

Liam: Y– like I said, you know, sh– steffy knows how I feel.

Wyatt: Okay, liam, you– you need to be straight with me here. Is there something going on with steffy? Something that might be impacting this whole situation with hope?

Liam: I did something really stupid. Um… I kissed her.

Ridge: Everything all right?

Steffy: Out like a light.

Ridge: When you were a kid, you had bad dreams too.

Steffy: Oh, yes. You’d sit on my bed and hold my hand ’til I fell asleep.

Ridge: My favorite thing.

Steffy: Actually, I have a confession to make. I sometimes would fake a bad dream just so you could be with me.

Ridge: I love that. I had no idea.

Steffy: Nothing made me feel safer than my dad.

Ridge: And I’m sure kelly feels the same way.

Steffy: Oh, kelly adores liam. Um, liam hates not being here, but he’s a great dad. He just has two families, one with me, one with hope.

Ridge: Can I ask you something? Do you think hope turned to thomas because you still have a connection with liam?

Brooke: You refuse to let me repeat your mistakes? Okay. Yeah. Oh, fine. Fine, mom. I don’t want to. I don’t want to be with a man who’s in love with another woman and we all know how liam feels about steffy.

Brooke: Honey, that was in the past. Steffy and liam’s relationship was over a long time ago.

Hope: Oh, no. It is not over. It’s never going to be over, mom. It hangs over our marriage constantly. And I know liam feels that way because he– he has much said so to me. So, I would think that maybe you might understand how I feel in this scenario.

Brooke: My relationship with ridge is very different from yours and liam’S. Just save your marriage. You and liam have worked too hard. Fought too hard to be together. Don’t throw it all away. Save yourself from the pain and heartache.

Hope: Don’t you see that is exactly what I am doing? I am saving myself. And mom, did you ever stop to maybe ask yourself why it was so easy for liam to walk out on our marriage? How he was able to just give it up like that? After all those years that I’ve forgiven him for so much worse? He couldn’t allow me that same forgiveness, mom. Did you think that maybe it’s because he has a backup plan? Because there’s a woman who’s always been waiting there for him to give him exactly what I give him? Family, love, hell, even a daughter.

Brooke: He loves you. He is committed to you.

Hope: Oh, in the same way that ridge is committed to you? I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I know that sounded harsh and I don’t mean to hurt you, mom, but I don’t want to live my life like that. I mean, sure. Yes, you and ridge have– have managed to smooth things out as of late, but how many decades has it been of you chasing after him begging for his love, worrying that he’s thinking about someone else? I don’t want that. So yes, I will always love liam. I will and I hate the way that this has all transpired. But I want to be with a man who wants me… and only me. (Vo) if you have graves’ disease,

Wyatt: You kissed steffy? Twice?

Liam: Yeah. Um, once in rome and once after when we got back.

Wyatt: Oh, my god. Like, I don’t even know what you’re thinking. Like, this is a complete–

Liam: I– I– I don’t know what I was thinking, okay? I was– I– I had just seen my wife in thomas’s arms. I was– I was shell shocked.

Wyatt: Oh, so you thought the best thing that you could do is to go kiss steffy? Someone who you have tons of history with?

Liam: And who is happily married to finn and has her family.

Wyatt: Yes!

Liam: I know, I know it was– it was wrong and stupid and dumb and dumb and stupid and wrong and I know that.

Wyatt: Wait, you cannot– you cannot go down this road, liam. Like, you can’T. That’s not fair to anybody.

Liam: I know. I– I– I never should have crossed the line like that. I have too much respect for steffy and finn and their– and their marriage and kissing her was– it was wrong. It was totally wrong and– and I promise, I promised her, I– I– I’m never gonna do something like that. I’m– I’m never gonna interfere in her life or her marriage ever again.

Ridge: If hope thinks that liam still has feelings for you, that could seriously undermine the relationship.

Liam: I think

my marriage is over.

I think it’s over.

I think I…

[ Liam sniffling ]

I think I made a mistake.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Liam. No, liam loves hope. They’re gonna find their way through this. They’re gonna put their family back together. Liam’s future is with her.

Brooke: Honey, I– I just don’t want you to regret this and I know you will. I do, trust me. I know you’re gonna wake up one day and you’re gonna wish none of this happened. You’ll be devastated and you’ll want to take it all back, but it will be too late. But it’s not too late right now, honey. You can still fight. You can fight for liam. You can fight for your family. You could fight for your marriage.

Hope: I am fighting for myself, mom.

Brooke: Thomas is not gonna make you happy.

Hope: Were you happy all those years that I had to scrape you up off the floor, heartbroken? Were you happy?

Brooke: Of course not, sweetheart.

Hope: Okay, so I think I deserve a little more than that. And please don’t tell me again that liam loves me and I should fight for my marriage when he is the one that refuses to do so.

Brooke: Liam does love you and he will come home.

Hope: Oh, please. Mom, he’s probably over at steffy’s right now declaring his love and begging to be taken back.

Brooke: Steffy is married to finn!

Hope: Like that’s ever stopped anyone before. I mean… I hate what is happening. I hate that liam saw me kiss thomas. I hate that I hurt him. But, mom, after everything that has happened over how many years, I am not sure that I see a future with liam.

[ Brooke sighing ] You don’t mean that.

Hope: I do.

Brooke: Okay. I know what it’s like to be enticed by the bad boy.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. Can we just stop with that already? Mom, yes, thomas has flaws but last time I checked, we all do, right? But thomas also has strengths. You want to know one of them? He wants me and only me. He doesn’t have some other woman rattling around in the back of his head. No, it is just me. You know how good that feels?

Brooke: Oh, okay, so what are you trying to tell me, hope? You really are gonna give up on your marriage? You’re giving up?

[ Hope laughing ]

Hope: I don’t have an answer for you, mom. I– I don’T. I can only ask that you keep what you have seen here tonight between us while I try to figure out my next steps because this is my life and these are my choices and I will live with the consequences. I just know… that I deserve more than half of liam’s heart. And I want to be with a man who is not in love with another woman.

Recap written by Terry

Victor lays down the law. After he realizes that he’s given them too much power, freedom and reign over his companies, Victor says it’s time for his adult offspring to fall in line. Victor calls a family meeting and informs them they will do he wants from now on. He calls the shots, he reiterates.

Victor told Nick he will work with Adam on the company formerly called McCall Unlimited. Adam renames the company to a term that means scorched earth. Nick, not happy with his father’s directive, hesitantly agrees.

Victor tells his daughter everyone knows why she pushed Nickolas out of Newman. Victor says he sees potential in acting COO, Nate Hastings, but does not trust him after what Nate did to his own family. Victor is also suspicious of him after seeing Nate scheming with Audra, but Victoria is unaware of their alliance and goals.

Victoria and Nate spend some time at the Newman suite at the Athletic Club and Victoria gloats that once McCall is folded into Newman Enterprises, Adam will be subservient to her and Nate or he’s gone.

Victor directs Adam to reorganize and optimize the company he bought for him to run, and once McCall Unlimited is running well, it will be folded into Newman Enterprises. Adam objects, reminding his father of the prior agreement that Adam would independently run McCall. Victor states he does not care what agreements were made in the past, and if Adam doesn’t like it, Adam can walk out the door. Adam walks out the door. Victor vows that if Adam doesn’t fall in line, he is done with his youngest son.

After leaving his father’s office, Adam goes to Crimson lights, where he unknowingly interrupts Sharon’s first intimate encounter with Chance. Adam tells Sharon merging her newly obtained company with McCall is off. He informs Sharon that Victor pulled a fast one, and he wants nothing to do with his family, including his father. Adam suggests he could work with her to rebuild the company Cameron Kirsen left her.

At the Athletic Club, Tucker, slurring his words a bit, is enjoying a drink when he spots Audra and buys her a glass of wine. Audra happily tells Tucker her future looks promising. She receives a text from Kyle suggesting they meet for some romantic time. Tucker sees the text, scoffs and asks her if Kyle Abbott is what she considers a promising future. Audra countered that she sees potential in him and that she hired him to be her right hand man.

Tucker dismisses it, saying that Kyle is a spoiled rich kid who lucked his way into his high ranking position through no merit of his own. He wagers a trip to Vegas that Kyle will let Audra down. His bride-to-be, Ashley Abbott, was not around to hear that exchange.

Interview with Jordan Canning

TV Interview!

Interview with director Jordan Canning of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” on Paramount+ by Suzanne 7/14/23

This was a fun interview. Jordan directed the most recent episode of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” Charades, where Spock and Chapel are in a shuttle accident and rescued by some aliens. When they fix up Spock, they leave out his Vulcan DNA, so he’s suddenly human.  He has to deal with all of the human emotions. Making it more difficult for him is that he has an important dinner with his fiancée, T’Pring, and her judgmental family. While Pike, Amanda (Spock’s mother) and the rest of the crew try to help Spock pretend to be Vulcan and get through the dinner, Chapel frantically searches for a way to reverse what the aliens did. It’s a fun episode and really showcases the talents of Ethan Peck (Spock) and Jess Bush (Chapel). I’ve been a Trekkie as long as I can remember, so it was awesome to speak to the episode’s director.Jordan Canning - Director and Anson Mount as Capt. Pike in episode 205 “Charades” of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, streaming on Paramount+, 2023. Photo Cr: Michael Gibson/Paramount+

Suzanne: Were you a fan of the show, or of the Star Trek franchise, before you started on this?

Jordan: Yeah, I was a big “[Star Trek: The] Next Generation” fan when I was a kid, and I probably watched, “[Star Trek IV] The Voyage Home” movie two dozen times. I loved that movie so much. And then, when I got the job, season one hadn’t aired yet, but I got to watch cuts of it. I had [seen] the season of “[Star Trek] Discovery” that had Spock in it… I think it’s season two. And then I got to watch season one [of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” before it was fully finished, and I was like, “Oh my God, this show is so good!” I loved it because it really reminded me of NextGen. It had that same playfulness to it, and the episodic alien- or planet-of-the-week vibe. And yeah, I got even more excited about the job once I’d seen it.

Suzanne: Well, that’s cool. Now, please forgive my ignorant question here because I’ve mostly interviewed actors, but… as a director, how are you chosen, for a TV episode? Is there anything similar to an audition process?

Jordan: You know, often there’s an interview. Sometimes– usually, your agent would put you up for something. I think with this one, They had reached out to my agent about it. Because of my comedy work and because this was a comedic episode, they wanted a director who was good at comedy. And so, yeah, memory serves that when I got the call from Chris, I was like, “Okay, this is an interview.” And then he was like, “Yeah, you’re great. You got the job.” And I was like, “I did. Oh, okay. Great. Love it.”

Suzanne: It takes the pressure off.

Jordan: Yeah. I called my agent. I was like, “Oh, I think I got the job.”

Suzanne: So, when you direct an episode (I know it’s not like directing a movie), are you in charge, more or less, or is it more of a collaborative process with everybody?

Jordan: Well, I will say, always in TV… you’re sort of working towards the vision of the showrunner, who has the whole show in their head and knows how all the pieces fit together. And there’s usually already a style and tone of the show that’s been set since the pilot, or since at least the first first season that you’re trying to slot yourself into. But what’s really unique about “[Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” is [in reference to what you just said]: It is more like directing a movie. This was more like doing a movie than any TV episode I’ve done before because the episodes are more standalone. They approach them kind of like standalone movies of the week in terms of the tone and the style. And they really work hard to match a director with a script that works with them in terms of the style of the director or their strengths. So I was overjoyed by how much creative freedom I had on this episode. They sort of say, “Okay, you do a big sort of tone download with Henry, the showrunner.” And he’s like, “Okay, here’s the tone meeting.” And then they’re like, “Okay, how do you want to shoot it? How do you want to block it?” There aren’t these rigid rules about, [for example] “This is the way we shoot the closeups, this is when we use handheld, we don’t use handheld at all…” Yada, yada. You can use all of the sort of creative tools in your toolbox that serve the script and serve the story. So it was a real joy to be able to work on this and shape it so much.

Suzanne: That’s great. And, did you encounter any problems or glitches, or was it all smooth sailing?

Jordan: Well, we did… Ethan and I were talking yesterday, and both of us remembered at the same time that we had a COVID shutdown in the middle of our episode… but both of us had forgotten this, but he and Jess both got COVID in the middle of us shooting it. So we had to. There were no other scenes we could shoot because they were in everything. So we had to go down for a couple of weeks. I think the episodes are around 12 days? We’d probably shot maybe seven days, and then they got covid, so we had to go down for a couple of weeks. I think they started shooting the [next] episode and then we picked it back up once they were clear again. So that was kind of the only real, you know, problem.

Suzanne: That’s a pretty major one!

Jordan: Yeah, it was… it was great timing. But, yeah, you know, it happens. It happens so much.

Suzanne: Well, they shoot them pretty far in advance though, right?

Jordan: Oh yeah. Well, it’s such a long VFX post-production process.

Suzanne: Yeah.

Jordan: We were shooting, over a year ago. I shot my episode last May and June. So it was more than a year of [post-production].

Jordan Canning and Ethan Peck filming the episode Charades of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" on Paramount+.

Suzanne: Were you worried at all about dealing with such an iconic part of Star Trek history (Spock and the Vulcans), and how fans might react to that?

Jordan: I wanted to treat it with real respect and reverence because I knew that Spock being human for an episode is something that I think has been daydreamed about for many, many years– and decades even. So I knew that this was a very important, iconic thing that we were delivering. I wasn’t nervous about it. No, I just really wanted to be prepared. Ethan and I had so many conversations about how to do it properly and exactly how to fine tune his performance, so that it never felt untethered to the real Spock (who was there, you know, still inside this human Spock). And, you know, making sure that it never went too kind of broad. With comedy, it’s just about anchoring it in reality and not hitting the jokes over the head… playing everything like it’s real. And I think that’s why I find it so fun in this episode is: everybody gets a moment or more to show how great they are at comedy, you know? Everybody gets a fun moment…some great lines, [and] some great reactions. It’s a real showpiece, I think, for just how versatile all of these actors are. And in particular, Ethan and Jess. They really worked so hard on this episode and did such a beautiful job.

Suzanne: And it had such a great ending for the fans, too.

Jordan: And for me! I mean, that’s the end. I was like, “I love it.” I love a big smooch, you know…

Suzanne: And the nice thing about this episode, is that it took you back. If you were a fan of the original show, it took you back all the episodes where they split Kirk into two characters –one good, one bad…things like that.

Jordan: Yeah. Nice. Yeah. I mean, the canon of this is so fun to play in, and there, they take such care and consideration in writing all of these scripts.

Suzanne: Well, I really appreciate you talking to me and I enjoyed it. It was a good episode. Thank you very much.

Jordan: Thank you.

Phyllis: Ah, okay. We need another cosmetic company, that’s for sure.

Tucker: This is not going to be just another cosmetic company. We’re going to have all of Ashley’s patents, which we will have rested from Jabot, and then we are going to take Jabot and we are going to… grind it into a fine powder and then scoop it up for pennies on the dollar.

Phyllis: My eyes are glazing over.

Tucker: But when we take over Jabot, Diane is going to be the major challenge, as I assume you know she has been promoted to the C-suite. Ergo, we would like her out of the way.

Phyllis: Out of the way?

Tucker: Um, di– distracted. Thrown off her game in whatever way possible and what better way to achieve that than to have you return? All your glory. Vindicated and Victorious.

Phyllis: Right. So… you give me my freedom… so I can come back to town and screw Diane over.

Tucker You got it.

Lily: How do you not realize that you dating Victoria throws everything that you two did to Devon and me in our faces? Do you really think that we’re just going to forget that?

Nate: Lily, did you forget that Devon tried to take you to court? Or did you forget that Devon and Abby cheated on Amanda and Chance, got caught red-handed? Humiliated them, but they’re treated like the happy new couple in town. Everyone’s moved on. I am just as happy with Victoria, but all you and everyone else can see is the past. I admit it. I crossed a line. And I am sorry I hurt Elena, but the truth is, I’ve never been more comfortable in my own skin than I am now, with Victoria.

Lily: Yeah, Nate, that’s what’s scary. It’s terrifying because Elena was your conscience, and Victoria can’t give you that. I mean, she’s pushing you to be bigger and better and collateral damage be damned.

Nate: For the record, I made the effort tonight

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Steve questions Whitley about what makes her want to resign from her job at the hospital. Whitley assures it’s not the job and that Kayla is the best boss she’s ever had. Steve asks why she wants to quit then, unless she’s going somewhere

Lani shows up at Jerry’s door. Jerry asks what she’s doing there as he thought her father’s funeral was today. Lani confirms it was and that she knows Jerry was there because Theo saw him. Jerry says he wanted to pay his respects. Lani calls that very thoughtful of him and adds that it’s so strange that they even had a funeral when they don’t have Abe’s body, so they can’t properly lay him to rest with all these unanswered questions. Lani says that’s what she wanted to talk to Jerry about and asks if she can come in.

Abe continues watching Body and Soul and sees himself appearing in the show as he hallucinates from the drug that Whitley injected him with.

Belle sits in the town square after Abe’s funeral. Brady joins her and comments on the service and how they had quite a turnout. Belle says it’s great that Brady came, considering everything going on with Rachel. Brady responds that he obviously wants his little girl back but it’s not like she’s actually missing. Belle asks what he means as she thought Rachel ran away from summer camp. Brady confirms that she did, but he knows exactly where she is.

Marlena questions Kristen saying that she will tell her where Rachel is, if she gets something in return. Kristen says it’s just a hypothetical at this point, but if she did know where Rachel is, she wouldn’t tell her without being rewarded. Marlena asks what Kristen wants. Kristen responds that she wants custody of her daughter.

Abe imagines himself in Body and Soul where his character is named Henry Marshall and he talks about being in the hospital after being attacked but he doesn’t know by whom.

Jerry lets Lani in and she sees his bags packed, so she asks if he’s going somewhere. Jerry claims he just decided to go back to LA to give acting another try and he’s kind of in a hurry. Lani says she won’t hold him up but with the unanswered questions about Abe, her mind is working overtime and she’s thinking about when she met him at the docks. Lani brings up that Theo said Jerry wanted to tell him something but he never got around to it. Jerry repeats that he just wanted to tell him how sorry he was about Abe. Lani points out that right after that, Jerry took off pretty fast so she asks if they did something to make him nervous.

Whitley informs Steve that she is going somewhere. Steve questions her not being happy in Salem. Whitley thinks back to telling Jerry of her plan. Whitley claims it has nothing to do with Salem and says she’s just ready for a fresh start after all these years. Steve asks where she is headed. Whitley responds that she’s heading to Scottsdale, Arizona where she is from and claims she still has some family there. Steve says he bets, considering she is one of five kids. Whitley questions how he knows that. Steve says it’s from her background check which she questions. Steve informs her that the FBI ran one after Abe disappeared.

Belle tells Brady that she would ask Shawn if there’s been any progress on getting another warrant to search the DiMera Mansion, but he wouldn’t know because he’s been suspended from the force for drinking on the job. Brady guesses he’s still dealing with what happened to Bo. Belle confirms that for weeks, he’s been numbing the pain with alcohol which she knows Brady understands. Brady offers to talk to Shawn but Belle thinks finding Rachel is the priority. Brady says he knows Kristen has her in the DiMera Mansion and he was going to go tear the place up, but Marlena convinced him to let her handle it. Brady says with any luck, Marlena will be able to convince Kristen to give him his kid back.

Marlena tells Kristen that if she wants to revisit custody, there are several ways she could do that like hiring a lawyer. Kristen complains that she couldn’t find one to take her case. Marlena asks if kidnapping was the next logical step. Kristen argues that Brady kidnapped Rachel last year while Marlena points out that was because Kristen was withholding the orchid that could have saved lives, including hers, so what Brady did was for a very good reason. Kristen argues that she has a good reason too and claims that she is hypothetically speaking.

Whitley asks why the FBI would do a background check on her when she had nothing to do with what happened to Abe. Steve explains that it’s completely routine as in kidnapping cases, they have to check in to everyone connected and Whitley saw Abe on the day he disappeared which was the day she let work early. Whitley argues that she was sick and she has already been through all of this with Eli. Steve points out that they are not exactly clear on what happened yet and it’s Mayor Carver, so they are not just going to let it go. Steve brings up that Abe was Eli’s father in law, so he’s going to keep digging until he nails down the entire timeline of when Abe went missing to when he ended up in the river, questioning where he was all this time and who he was with. Steve states that the FBI needs all of Abe’s movements, especially from the last person to see him. Whitley argues that she wasn’t the last person to see him, as that was Jerry.

Lani comments that Jerry seems really nervous now. Jerry claims he’s just anxious to get packed. Lani says she will leave when she gets some answers. Lani goes back to the day at the docks and says it seems like something was really weighing on him. Lani asks Jerry if he’s sure there was nothing else he wanted to tell Theo. Lani states that so many people love and miss Abe. Lani adds that this is especially painful for her because she used to be a cop. Lani wants to help with the investigation so she can find whoever took Abe and give everyone who loved him some answers, but because she’s not on the force anymore, she can’t work with the police. Lani adds that she still needs those answers desperately. Lani asks Jerry to tell her if he knows anything about what happened to Abe because it would finally give her the closure that she needs to say goodbye to her dad. Jerry then breaks down and admits that he lied about everything and his entire story was a lie.

Abe continues hallucinating during Body and Soul, where his character is being encouraged to run for mayor.

Brady knows Marlena and Kristen have not had the best history, but they have been known to put that aside at times, so he hopes that Marlena can get Kristen to listen to reason. Belle points out that Kristen has never listened to reason. Brady says that Kristen loves her daughter and he thinks that Kristen feels guilty about keeping Rachel away from him and her grandparents. Brady thinks that Marlena can appeal to Kristen and make her see the light and do the right thing.

Marlena encourages Kristen that she can still do the right thing and repay the favor that she did for her yesterday by telling her where Rachel is. Kristen claims that she can’t tell her what she doesn’t know. Marlena warns that Brady is never going to give her full custody and questions what she wants. Kristen shouts that she wants Brady to share. Kristen says that no matter how Marlena feels about her, she knows that she loves Rachel as much as Brady does and that Rachel loves her. Kristen says it’s important for their child to have both parents in her life. Kristen says now Marlena knows, hypothetically, how to resolve this situation. Kristen suggests Marlena have a chat with Belle, which she agrees to do. Marlena tells Kristen to tell Rachel that she loves her as she then exits the mansion. Rachel then emerges from the tunnels wearing a bear costume.

Lani questions Jerry saying his entire story was a lie. Jerry admits he never saw Abe fall in to the water or at the docks at all. Lani asks how he knows that Abe was there then. Jerry admits that he wasn’t. Lani argues that they found Abe’s hospital bracelet and his blood. Jerry reveals that he planted them. Lani questions how he got those things and what he did to Abe. Jerry swears that he didn’t do anything to Abe as it was all Nurse King and everything that happened was part of Whitley’s plan.

Steve tells Whitley that he didn’t mean the last person to see Abe alive, but the last person to see him before he went missing which was her. Whitley insists that was Jerry. Steve questions her saying that Jerry was at the hospital on the day that Abe went missing.

Abe continues envisioning Body and Soul where Paulina is introduced as a new character opposing his character as mayor.

Brady appreciates Belle’s concern but he knows her issue with Shawn is rough and repeats that he’s willing to talk to him. Belle mentions that Shawn has agreed to talk to Marlena. Marlena then approaches, so Brady asks if she had any luck with Kristen. Marlena informs him that Kristen claimed not to know where Rachel is. Brady is not surprised that Kristen is sticking to her story. Marlena adds that Kristen said if she knew anything, she would be willing to share but in return, she would like to revisit their custody agreement.

Kristen questions what Rachel is doing down in the tunnels. Rachel responds that the attic is scary. Kristen says it’s just a place where things are stored. Rachel complains that it’s lonely up there. Kristen promises this will be over very soon and she will only have to be up there a little longer. Kristen reminds her that it’s important that she wear the costume so the police don’t find her. Kristen mentions that the police walked right by her when she was surrounded by her stuffed animals. Kristen repeats that it will just be a little longer and suggests having a tea party. Rachel asks if Brady is worried about her because she doesn’t like making him scared. Kristen says she doesn’t need to be concerned about him because this will all be over very soon.

Steve questions Whitley telling him that Jerry was at the hospital on the day that Abe disappeared. Whitley claims that Jerry was lingering outside of Abe’s room. Steve questions why she didn’t tell anybody about that. Whitley says she didn’t think it was important, but when she read in the paper that he was the eye witness, she thought it was suspicious. Steve points out that she still didn’t tell anyone. Whitley claims she didn’t want to get Jerry in trouble because he’s a nice young man. Steve suggests maybe not. Whitley pretends to be shocked at the idea that Jerry could have something to do with what happened to Abe.

Abe’s vision of Body and Soul mirrors the way he met Paulina and his character calls it deja vu.

Lani asks Jerry what Whitley has to do with this. Jerry explains that she is the one who gave him Abe’s hospital bracelet and his blood to put on the docks. Lani questions why he would do that. Jerry explains that his grandma was sick and couldn’t afford her medicine so Whitley forged some documents. Jerry knows it was wrong but when she asked him for help, he couldn’t say no. Jerry thought Whitley was a good person but she’s not. Lani questions what Whitley did to Abe, if she hurt him, and how she got his blood. Lani demands Jerry talk to her. Jerry then reveals that Abe is alive.

Brady decides he’s going to the DiMera Mansion now to confront Kristen but Marlena stops him. Brady complains that this is just another ploy to get him to revisit the custody arrangement. Marlena understands but says right now, Kristen holds all the cards so if he does something rash, she could just take off with Rachel. Brady questions giving in to Kristen again and asks Belle if there is something they can do here. Belle says she’d rather be a sister than a lawyer, but the fact that Rachel went missing works in Kristen’s favor because Brady has full custody so he’s in charge of all decisions including what summer camp she goes to. Brady asks if a court is going to think this was his fault. Belle states that the fact that Rachel escaped on his watch will look bad. Marlena argues that it’s not about what Kristen has done wrong but what’s right for Rachel. Brady says he’s open to Rachel having both parents. Belle recalls trying to reason with Kristen about joint custody. Brady says he wanted that, until Kristen blackmailed him with three women’s lives including Marlena’s. Brady can’t believe Marlena is advocating for Kristen. Marlena says she is advocating for Rachel and that they have to put aside their feelings for Kristen and focus on how Rachel feels about her mother. Belle notes that if Brady agrees to joint custody, she could add stipulations to the agreement. Marlena knows it’s not easy but her experience says the better things go with Kristen now, the easier things will be down the road.

Kristen encourages Rachel that before she knows it, she will get to spend time with both of her parents. Kristen hugs her and says she loves her, then sends her back in to the tunnels to return to the attic.

Abe continues hallucinating Body and Soul where his character declares that he remembers an important secret, that he and Paulina’s character have a daughter.

Lani questions what Jerry means by saying her father is alive. Jerry informs her that Abe never fell off the docks and that Whitley has had him this whole time after kidnapping him from the hospital and pretending to be Paulina. Jerry adds that she paid him to pretend to be Theo and Abe believed him at first because of his head injury messing up his memory. Jerry says every once in a while, Abe would have memory flashes and tries to put the pieces together but Whitley won’t let him.

Whitley asks Steve if he thinks it means something that Jerry was there when Abe disappeared and he is the one who saw him fall in to the river. Steve declares that they are sure as hell going to find out. Steve calls John and informs him that Whitley told him something very interesting. Steve asks John to get an address on Jerry.

Jerry tells Lani that Abe knows something is off but Whitley sedates him to keep him in line. Lani questions why he would be a part of something so sick. Jerry explains that he didn’t know as Whitley told him that she needed him for an acting part and that it would help with Abe’s recovery, so he had no idea that he would be faking his death. Lani asks where her father is. Jerry responds that as far as he knows, he is still at Whitley’s apartment, but she did say she was leaving town and taking Abe with her. Jerry apologizes for everything as Lani storms out.

Belle has her assistant e-mail the amended custody agreement to Brady. Marlena states that as soon as Kristen gets that, they get to have Rachel back. Belle asks if Marlena really thinks that giving in to Kristen’s demands was the right thing to do. Marlena repeats that the right thing to do was what’s best for Rachel, acknowledging that she loves her mother and wants to spend time with her. Marlena says no court won’t take in to an account what a child wants. Belle wishes that Kristen found a way to deal with this without involving kidnapping. Marlena hopes everybody can move forward in a civilized way.

Brady goes to the DiMera Mansion and tells Kristen that Marlena told him that she would be interested in revisiting their custody arrangement and that amending it might help in the search for Rachel. Brady thinks she will be pleased with the changes then and shows her the agreement. Kristen responds that she is quite pleased and says she has a really good feeling about this. Kristen knows that once she signs this, Rachel is going to be found. Kristen then signs the agreement and gives it back to Brady to sign. Brady says he has a good feeling about it too but then he stops and rips up the papers.

Whitley says to herself that she’s sorry to Jerry as she didn’t want to do this but the hospital was getting suspicious so it was either him or her and she had to throw him under the bus. Whitley hopes that Jerry is long gone by now.

Jerry says to himself that he’s sorry to Whitley but Lani deserved to know the truth. Jerry declares that he’s not going to be around when she finds him as he’s not going down for this. Jerry gets ready to leave when Steve knocks on his door.

Abe continues hallucinating Body and Soul until Lani bursts in to find Abe.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Suzanne

Lily and Daniel reminisce while unpacking, looking at old photos. They discuss placing a particular photo in a prominent spot, next to Lily’s father. Daniel jokes about a missing photo from their wedding in Vegas. Lily jokes that its absence will disappoint Lucy. They reflect on how much they’ve changed over the years. Meanwhile, Phyllis, disguised in a black outfit, meets Carson, the missing EMT, at the GAC. Phyllis expresses surprise and relief that he isn’t a trap set by Michael. However, she’s shocked to see Tucker, who reveals he’s her “miracle worker.” Phyllis is skeptical of his intentions.

At the Abbott Mansion, Diane encounters Kyle. They discuss his son, Harrison, and Diane asks if he asked for Summer. Kyle assures her it will take time for Harrison to adjust to the new situation. They acknowledge the challenges everyone is facing; Diane tries to initiate a conversation about Kyle’s marriage. However, Kyle tries to brush her off, claiming he has somewhere to be.

Chance finds Summer sitting alone, looking sad, at the coffee shop and teases her about drinking coffee at night. She says defensively that she had a craving for an iced latte.  She reveals some news: her mother is ready to turn herself in, with Michael as her attorney. Summer expresses hope that the nightmare will finally be over, but Chance is unsure if it’s good or bad news.

Phyllis assumes that Tucker has ulterior motives. She questions if the reward for her capture was not sufficient for him. Tucker assures her that it’s not about money and reveals he wants to make her an offer she won’t refuse. Phyllis remains suspicious and challenges his intentions.

Diane shares a glass of wine with Kyle and expresses her concern for him. She points out his tendency to run away and avoid emotional pain, mentioning his love for Summer and their life together. Kyle dismisses her worries, blaming Summer for the destruction of their marriage and claiming that his feelings for her no longer matter.

Chance and Summer discuss her mother’s decision to turn herself in. Chance questions her motives and expresses his doubts about everything being okay. Summer explains her mother’s desire to fix the damage she has caused and hopes that understanding the truth will result in lenient charges. Chance warns her about the challenges ahead and the difficulty of manipulating the law.

Phyllis confronts Tucker, questioning his involvement.  She suspects he might betray her. Tucker reveals that Carson can provide her freedom, and Tucker can support his son while he serves his sentence. He offers her peace of mind and a chance to bring down Diane, whom Phyllis despises. Tempted, Phyllis is hesitant but curious about Tucker’s motivations.

Daniel and Lily are kissing when they’re interrupted by a knock on the door. They try to ignore it, but the knocking persists, prompting Lily to answer. Nate appears at the door with a bottle of wine, welcoming Lily to the building and expressing his happiness about having family nearby. Daniel decides to make a quick exit, and Lily and Nate discuss their complicated history and strained relationship.

Tucker continues to persuade Phyllis, claiming that helping her can benefit his own future happiness. Phyllis questions his intentions and warns him about the pain she has caused and experienced. Tucker assures her he understands but insists they share something important. Phyllis demands an explanation for his actions. Tucker tells her about his and Ashley’s new company. He wants her to annoy Diane in order to distract her. He leaves Phyllis to think about.

Heather shows up at Phyllis door later. She has taken over Phyllis’s case. Phyllis is surprised and concerned about Michael’s absence, learning that he had to deal with a legal matter involving Gloria. Phyllis is frustrated, feeling that her murder trial is being neglected for another case.

Diane tries to have a conversation with Kyle about his marriage, but he claims that he has other commitments. Diane insists that the discussion is important, but Kyle shows little interest. He believes that ending the marriage was Summer’s choice and feels powerless in the situation.

Summer shares her frustrations with Chances about the secrets and lies that have damaged her life. She expresses her longing for her son and her desire to fix her marriage with Kyle. Summer speaks again about her mother’s readiness to turn herself in and take responsibility for her actions. Chance questions Phyllis’ sudden change of heart and warns her about the consequences they may face.

Phyllis is surprised by Heather’s arrival and expresses her concern about Michael’s absence. Heather assures her that she’s well-prepared and ready to represent her. Phyllis discusses the missing EMT, Carson, and expresses hope that he will resurface to support her claims of self-defense.

Heather gets a phone call and then informs Phyllis, Daniel, and Summer that Carson has been located and is willing to cooperate. Phyllis feels optimistic about the progress and expresses her determination to make amends for the damage caused. They discuss their next steps as they prepare to turn themselves in.

Diane tries to console Kyle, assuring him of her support. Kyle is skeptical, believing that Summer’s actions have irreparably damaged their marriage. Diane tries to emphasize the importance of forgiveness and moving forward, but Kyle remains resistant.

Lily and Nate have a heated discussion about their complicated relationship. Lily expresses her disappointment in Nate’s involvement with Victoria and how it reminds her of the betrayal they experienced. Nate defends his relationship with Victoria and insists on being respected for his choices.

Phyllis agrees to hire Heather as her attorney, acknowledging her capabilities. They discuss the progress made in locating Carson and express optimism for the outcome. Summer and Daniel express their gratitude to Heather for taking over the case.

Christine and Chance arrive at the location where Phyllis is supposed to turn herself in. They express doubts about whether they can trust the situation, despite Heather’s assurance. They acknowledge that Phyllis is unpredictable and could throw a wrench into their plans. Phyllis, Daniel, Summer, and Heather walk downstairs, catching Chance’s attention. Christine confronts Phyllis with anger, criticizing her for the havoc she has caused and the pain she has inflicted on those who care about her. She mentions the impact on Phyllis’s children and expresses her disdain for her actions. Phyllis tries to explain her motives, but Heather intervenes, preventing her from speaking further. Christine expresses her anticipation for Phyllis’s surrender and warns Heather about the challenging case she has taken on.

Chance proceeds to handcuff Phyllis, while Tucker secretly films the arrest nearby. Chance recites Phyllis’s rights as they prepare to leave for the station. Back at the Abbott mansion, Diane receives a notification on her phone and looks at it, with Kyle observing. Diane realizes it’s a video of Phyllis’s arrest, and Kyle confirms it, feeling despondent about the situation. Diane appears pleased with the news, but Kyle’s mood is gloomy.

[ Daniel humming ]

Daniel: This one definitely deserves a place of honor.

Lily: Ah, yes. I agree. Right next to Dad.

[ Daniel chuckling ]

Lily: What do you think?

Daniel: It’s not bad. The only thing missing is a picture of us at our wedding in Vegas.

[ Lily chuckling ]

Daniel: Too bad we don’t have one, I think.

Lily: Oh, my god, Lucy’s going to be so bummed.

Daniel: She won’t let it go.

Lily: God, that was forever ago. I feel like we are two completely different people now.

Daniel: Definitely not the same crazy, impulsive kid I was then, you know?

Lily: Yeah.

Daniel: I had no idea what life was about. Hell, not even the same person I was a year ago and it makes me glad. Everything now, it feels new and fresh and exciting.

Lily: Really? Everything?

Daniel: No. No, my mom is still the same as she ever was.

Phyllis: Oh, god. My god, it’s really you. For a second, I thought this was a trap.

Carson: No, it’s me.

Phyllis: Oh, my god.

Carson: In the flesh.

Phyllis: I can’t believe that Michael’s really– I– I mean, he said that he was closing in on you, but I didn’t think it would be this soon. He’s a miracle worker.

Tucker: Actually, I’m your miracle worker.

Diane: Kyle.

Kyle: Hey. Um, Harrison is upstairs asleep and Linda will be with him ’til I get back.

Diane: Did he ask for his mommy?

Kyle: It will take a while for him to get adjusted.

Diane: Yeah, for everyone.

Kyle: Don’t wait up.

Diane: Uh, Kyle, c– could we please talk?

Kyle: I have some place to be, Mom.

Diane: Well, this is important. It’s about your marriage.

Chance: You know, cops drink coffee at night to stay awake. What’s your excuse?

Summer: Uh, can a girl just crave an iced latte?

Chance: If it cheers you up, sure.

Summer: I actually have some news for you.

Chance: Hm. Can’t tell if that’s good or bad.

Summer: My mom is ready to turn herself in. Michael is officially her attorney and this nightmare might finally be over.

Phyllis: Son of a bitch. It’s you. Wha– is SWAT coming? Is Christine leading the parade? You didn’t get a big enough settlement from Stark? I mean, I was going to turn myself in, but not this way.

Tucker: It’s not what you think, Phyllis.

Phyllis: The reward wasn’t big enough? Is this about the reward?

Tucker: There’s a reward? It doesn’t matter. It’s not about money.

Phyllis: Everything is about money with you.

Tucker: The cops are not going to bust down the door. I simply want to make you an offer and I think you’re going to want to hear it.

Kyle: I didn’t realize it was going to be this kind of talk.

Diane: Here you go.

Kyle: Thanks, but I really do have some place to be.

Diane: Kyle, I’m worried about you.

Kyle: I understood. You’re worried. I’m fine.

Diane: No, you’re not. Every time I see you, you’re running out the door.

Kyle: Okay, it’s called living my life.

Diane: No, it’s called avoiding the pain. I know how much you love Summer and– and– and your– your life together, your family.

Kyle: Summer had other priorities, didn’t she?

[ Diane sighing ]

Diane: Look, I’m sure she regrets everything she did. Kyle, it doesn’t mean your marriage is over.

Kyle: Well, you– you say that like ending my marriage was my choice. Summer burnt it to the ground with every decision she made, so how I feel or don’t feel, it doesn’t really matter.

Chance: Your mother wants to turn herself in? It sounds like you’ve been in touch. What happened to working as friends to find Phyllis?

Summer: No, I didn’t say that I know where she is. But now that she is ready to come forward, everything’s going to be okay.

Chance: Summer, I think you and I have very different definitions of that word.

Summer: All I know, chance, is that my mom really wants to come home.

Chance: Why now?

Summer: She realizes the damage she’s done. The people that she’s hurt and she wants to fix what she can.

Chance: Well, I hope she knows that some things are going to be tougher to fix than others. How you doing with the separation?

Summer: I hate it. It’s part of why she’s coming back, actually. She feels responsible. She wants to do the right thing.

Chance: Well, does doing the right thing involve facing charges because that will happen.

Summer: I know. And yes, she accepts that.

Chance: Really? Because prison time is the reason she refused to turn herself in the first place, and now she’s just okay with it? What’s changed?

Summer: I think that she’s hoping once everybody understands what actually happened, the charges won’t be too harsh.

Chance: Well, I really hope that doesn’t mean trying to manipulate the law because I will not turn a blind eye and neither will Christine.

Phyllis: There is nothing you can offer me, Tucker.

Tucker: Your freedom. Standing right there. Courtesy of me. Not Michael. Not Victor. Me. I am your salvation, Phyllis. I’m your one shot at not spending years behind bars. So, please. I think you’re at least open to a conversation.

Phyllis: But if I’m not open to a conversation?

Tucker: You know, what I giveth, I can taketh it away.

Phyllis: How do you know about this?

Tucker: Michael and your kids. They’re very worried. So… determined to fight for you, to find this man. Even Victor is pitching you. Because Carson’s testimony substantiates your claim that Stark coerced you into your crimes. Isn’t that right?

Carson: Stark was one scary dude. He made it real clear. If I didn’t fall into line, he would kill me.

Tucker: Right. Which I believe would go a long way in supporting your claim of self-defense.

Phyllis: It was self-defense.

[ Tucker chuckling ]

Tucker: Yeah, of course it was. And he’ll testify that he witnessed the attack and saw you kill Stark in self-defense.

Phyllis: What’s the catch?

Tucker: No catch. Just peace of mind for our friend here. I’m going to support his mom financially while he does his time. And he’ll have a clean conscience, right? Uh, and perhaps a lighter sentence from having come forward.

Phyllis: How do I know this isn’t just a lie? That if I turn myself in… you– you’re not gonna just throw me under the bus?

Tucker: She’s a hard sell.

Phyllis: Does Michael know about this?

Tucker: No, not yet.

Phyllis: There’s nothing between us. I don’t understand why you would want to help me. I don’t understand why you’re doing this. I can’t wrap my head around whatever is going on here.

Tucker: There is something between us though, something very important we share.

Phyllis: I want you to tell me what this is all about.

[ Knocking on door ]

Daniel: Mm, no, no, no. Just ignore it. It’ll go away.

[ Lily chuckling ]

[ Knocking on door]

Lily: Okay, whoever it is they’re not going away. I’m sorry, hold on. Nate.

Nate: Hello, neighbor.

[ Lily chuckling ]

Nate: Welcome. Daniel, it’s good to see you.

Daniel: Yep.

Lily: Uh, this was not necessary.

Nate: What are you talking about? My cousin just moved in across the hall. I couldn’t be happier. I hope I’m not interrupting.

Lily: Uh, actually, yeah, we were just–

Daniel: No, no. I was just leaving. Congratulations on the new place. If you need any tips about decorating you know where to find me.

Lily: Mm-hmm. Bye.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Lily: Uh, so?

Nate: I really am glad you’re here. I’m looking forward to us seeing more of each other.

[ Nate clears throat]

Lily: You are?

Nate: Yes, of course. And I was hoping we could celebrate by having a glass of wine.

[ Lily chuckling ]

Lily: Yeah, I mean, look, we can have a glass of wine, but I can’t just sit and chat like nothing ever happened between us.

Tucker: By helping another… you build your own future happiness.

Phyllis: I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean. Uh, listen, if you’re not straight with me, I’m just going to be leaving, okay?

Tucker: Nah, you’re not going to be leaving. Because I am the key to your future happiness, so I don’t think you’re going to walk out on that. I think you’re going to be grateful. I think… possibly indebted to me for my generosity.

Phyllis: Ah, I get it. I get it. So, I accept what you’re offering and I’m indebted to you or you go away, right?

[ Phyllis scoffing ]

Tucker: That’s right. Uh… thank you for your time, Carson. Uh, why don’t you go ahead and head back to the suite? Order whatever you’d like from room service. Watch a good movie.

Carson: Whatever you say, Mr. McCall.

Tucker: Thank you.

Phyllis: How did you do that? I mean, how did you convince him to testify on my behalf? How do you know he’s not just going to disappear?

Tucker: Everyone has their price and he’s not going to disappear unless I tell him to.

Phyllis: All right, so I have to agree to everything you’re saying or he goes, bye-bye?

Tucker: Mm-hmm. He can either be paid to stick around and cooperate or he can be paid to vanish. Never look back.

Phyllis: What’s going on? What do you want from me?

Tucker: So… while you were on the lam in that… delightful hat and sunglasses get up there, Ashley and I got engaged. I think that’s where you’re supposed to say, “Gee, Tucker, congratulations.” No? Okay. Anyway, we also started a new company. Simply “Ashley Cosmetics.”

Tucker: You got it.

Diane: Kyle, for all of the advantages that you’ve had in your life, seeing what a healthy long-term relationship looks like hasn’t been one of them. There– there are ebbs and flows, there’s compromise and forgiveness.

Kyle: No, no, no, I have a son whose mother has made it very clear she has no problem putting herself first. That is no way to raise a child. I will protect my son. So, if this is about you pushing me to forgive someone–

Diane: All right, just stop. Stop! I was that mother.

Kyle: Hey, hey, that was different.

Diane: No, no, and– and– and you forgave me, and you were hurt and you were angry, just like you are right now.

Kyle: Okay, okay, even if I could forgive Summer, I know who she is. There’s no way I would be able to trust her not to do something like this again.

Diane: Well, you just… put your faith in the love you have, the– the foundation that you’ve built, and you just– you just hang on until you get to the other side. Look, I know– I know that you still love Summer.

Kyle: How am I able to maintain a relationship after what she and her mother did? And it’s not like Phyllis is gone for good. She will be back soon, whispering in Summer’s ears and who knows what they will do next.

Diane: All right, Summer knows that what she did was wrong and she is trying to repair things. Kyle, are you really ready to– to throw away the life that you’ve created together?

Kyle: You know what I don’t get? Is why you’re on Summer’s side? Because she is clearly more like Phyllis than any of us suspected.

Phyllis: So, you want me to come back into town to terrorize Diane? This is what I’ve been doing. This is what got me here.

Tucker: I understand. This time is going to be different. I have a new approach.

Phyllis: Okay. Well, first, I’m not going to help you take down a company that owns my daughter’s company, I’m not going to do that. Okay? My daughter’s company is part of Jabot. And second, I– I don’t want to be near Diane. I don’t wanna continue that. That war is over. I don’t want to be a part of it.

Tucker: You don’t have to be a part of any war. That’s all being fought by Ashley and me. And I promise you, Marchetti will come out of this unscathed. All I want you to be is a presence. A… you know, irritating, fingernails on chalkboard, constant presence in Diane’s life.

Phyllis: Just my presence is required.

Tucker: Yeah. You’ve– you’ve scared more than enough people just being present.

Phyllis: This is your new approach?

Tucker: Yeah. It’s very simple. Just be the– the tipping point that pushes Diane over the edge. All while enjoying this new freedom I’m providing for you. What do you say? Or I can happily send Carson away. You can forget about the whole thing. And one of the perks that you might be overlooking is that… you’ll be bringing down a woman you absolutely hate. Diane will lose her fancy position at Jabot, her marriage to Jack, crumble. What’s not to love?

Phyllis: There has been so much pain.

Tucker: Yeah.

Phyllis: So much pain. I can’t go through that pain anymore, Tucker.

Tucker: I understand.

Phyllis: Do you understand?

Tucker: I do understand. Yeah, so maybe, the best thing to do is look on the bright side. I’m sure that you’ve got… a lot of amends to make, yeah? Your daughter. You blew up her marriage, right? So maybe, you start there. I know that Jack and Kyle might be a harder sell, but you will appeal to their mercy. They forgave Diane, for god’s sakes. I have faith that they would welcome you back to the family and into the community. And you can resume the life that you loved. Okay? It’s up to you. Oh, and… we never had this conversation. Understand?

Summer: Just ready for this to be over. I’m so tired of the secrets. Worrying and… being the bad guy. I have lost so much. And I miss it. You know, I miss… Harrison. How he would jump into our bed in the morning to snuggle, and… I miss Kyle. And the way that he would look at me. Like it was just me and him.

Chance: I’m sorry.

Summer: It’s my fault. Right? I mean, I gutted my marriage with lies. And Kyle might not ever forgive me, and I might not deserve to be forgiven. Have you forgiven Abby for what she did?

Chance: Oh, um… it’s a process. But time helps.

Summer: I don’t want to wait. I’ve loved Kyle since I was a teenager. I mean, no matter who else I’ve been with, other relationships, I mean, it was always him. Always, and he is the person that I want. Our life, that is the life that I want, so I just need to figure out a way to fix my marriage, you know, and that can’t happen until this mess is behind us, so… I am glad that my mom is finally, ready to come home.

Chance: Even though you’ll face charges.

Summer: The first step to getting back to any sense of normalcy is… taking responsibility for what I did to help my mom and the damage that I did to my marriage.

Christine: Ah, you seem deep in conversation. Is there something I should know?

[ Knocking on door ]

Phyllis: Hey, Heather. Did Daniel–

Heather: Send me? Yes, he did. I’m taking over your case.

Phyllis: What? No, no, no, no, no, no. I– I mean, wh– where’s Michael?

Heather: Michael is on a plane to Singapore, where apparently, Gloria has gotten herself into a serious legal entanglement.

Phyllis: What– oh, my god. What? What? I mean, he’s– he’s dumping my murder trial for illegal entanglement?

Heather: It’s his mother.

Phyllis: It’s Gloria! Yeah, she’s always in a legal mess. Oh, my god. No! No! I can’t do this without Michael. I can’t do it.

Heather: I understand. But unfortunately, he’s gone. And I get it. If you don’t want me to represent you for a variety of reasons, but I’m up to speed on your case and Daniel urged me to do this. It was his idea that I step in. He was with Michael when Michael got the call from Gloria. Fortunately, I was in Savannah.

Phyllis: I– I mean, I don’t– I don’t know. I don’t– I don’t know. I don’t know.

Heather: Look, Phyllis, we don’t have to like each other, okay? You can still hate me for what happened with Daniel.

Phyllis: I don’t hate you.

Heather: I’m here, Phyllis. And I’m good. So, what’s it going to be?

Chance: Well, there could be some movement with Phyllis soon, but as far as actionable detail, nothing we can move on right at this minute.

Christine: I know you’re loyal to your mom, but have you considered the damage this is doing to your life?

Summer: I’m well aware. I– I better go. Thanks for listening.

Christine: So, what does movement mean?

Chance: Well, apparently, Phyllis is ready to turn herself in.

Christine: I don’t know if I believe that. And if it’s true, there’s an angle. There’s always an angle with Phyllis. Something to get her out of the punishment she deserves.

Chance: You think Baldwin could have a legal ace up his sleeve?

Christine: I mean, just can’t think of any ace that would balance out Phyllis’s multitude of crimes. But I have no doubt they will sure as hell try.

Nate: Welcome to the building.

Lily: Thank you.

Nate: Looks like you’re settling in.

Lily: Yeah, just you know, getting started.

Nate: If you need any help, any info about the building…

Lily: Thanks, I– I have Devon for that.

Nate: Of course.

Lily: Look, Nate. [ Sighing ] We’re family, you know, and what made me sad, and my dad’s tribute, those things reminded me of that. And so, I am trying really hard to get back to a place where we are just family. Where there’s no anger, no resentment. But that’s going to take time, okay? I can’t just sit here with you and have a glass of wine and chat like you didn’t stab Devon and me in the back.

Nate: I will always regret what I did. And I will continue to say that until you believe me.

Lily: Right. Well, I mean, it worked out great for you, right? You’re Victoria’s number two and you’re number one in her heart.

Nate: My position is temporary. I’m just grateful she sees my potential.

Lily: Yeah, professionally and personally.

Nate: I won’t apologize for my relationship with Victoria.

Lily: I’m not asking you to. But, I mean, she did try to steal Chancellor-Winters with your help. So, I don’t think we’re going to go on a double date anytime soon.

Nate: Victoria is a brilliant, dynamic woman. She’s become very special to me, so if she’s the deal breaker here, I’m sorry. There’s nothing I can do about that.

Phyllis: I mean, I don’t have the luxury of time, you know, I– I could try to get in touch with Amanda, but she’s maybe on the other side of the world or something. So, I mean– wow. I know you’re good, Heather. I know you’re– you’re better than good. I know this. You’re hired.

Heather: Excellent. Let’s get to work.

Phyllis: Okay. So, um, did Michael tell you about the guy, Carson? Trying to locate him? I mean, the EMT?

Heather: Who came forward with the statement substantiating your claims of coercion and self-defense.

Phyllis: Right. Right. That would be my ticket out of jail, right?

Heather: According to Michael, his team was closing in on the guy, and then, he just– he disappeared.

Phyllis: Hm. Well, hm… let– let’s stay on that. You know, keep looking for him because, um, I have a feeling he’s going to show up sooner or later.

Heather: What would make you feel that?

Phyllis: Well, I have to be optimistic, don’t I?

Heather: I suppose so.

[ Knocking on door ]

Summer: Hi.

Phyllis: Hey.

Daniel: Are you– you still okay with this?

Phyllis: Well, sure. I mean, I– I’d rather have Michael, of course. I don’t– no disrespect, Heather.

Heather: I get it.

Daniel: Thank you for this.

Summer: Yes, thank you so much.

Daniel: Was Michael’s team able to find Carson?

Summer: Yeah, can Mom turn herself in?

Heather: They were getting close, and then–

[ Phone ringing ]

Heather: Excuse me? It’s Michael’s private investigator. “We’ve located our man. He actually came to us and he’s willing to cooperate.”

Summer: That’s good.

Daniel: That’s great. That’s great news.

Phyllis: Wow, that is terrific news.

Heather: I guess you were right to be so optimistic.

Phyllis: Yeah, well, you know, I manifested it and it came to be, right? So, um… well, okay, here we go. Um… I have a lot to do. I have to make up all the damage that’s been done.

Summer: Are you really ready to turn yourself in, Mom?

Phyllis: Yeah. The stakes are too high. I have to do it. So, what’s the next step? What do I do now?

Heather: Okay. Hi, chance, it’s Heather. Heather Stevens. I’ve taken over for Michael Baldwin representing Phyllis Summers. I’m with my client right now. Phyllis is ready to turn herself in.

Diane: I am not on Summer’s side, I am on yours. Kyle, wait, listen to me. I am on your side, only and always. Summer did a horrible thing and I don’t excuse her for it, but I am trying to look past it for your sake. If that’s what you want. I will not be the reason that you don’t have love in your life, so if it means ignoring Summer’s sins, then that’s what I’ll do.

Kyle: Look, I know you want to help, Mom, but I have to get through this my own way. And I will, okay?

[ Diane sighing ]

Kyle: You’re a good mom.

[ Diane laughing ]

Diane: Wasn’t always.

Kyle: Hey, hey, hey. Whatever happened in the past, you’re a good mom right in this second. I love you for it.

Diane: And I love you too. So much.

Kyle: Then, trust me. I’m doing what I need to do to take care of myself. You don’t have to worry.

[ Diane sighing ]

Lily: Honestly, I’m surprised that you’re even enamored with Victoria. Or is it just that she’s useful to you?

Nate: You’re never going to give me a chance, are you?

Lily: Honestly, Nate, this is me trying. [ Laughing ]

Nate: Then, let’s clear the air once and for all. My feelings for Victoria are very real. You don’t have to like her, but you do have to respect my decision. Otherwise, there’s no point in us talking about being a family.

Nate: For the record, I made the effort tonight.

Lily: Yeah.

Nate: But this is over. Enjoy the wine.

[ Door slamming ]

Christine: Well, this is where she said Phyllis would turn herself in.

Chance: If she’s been here this whole damn time–

Christine: You know, given how this is all played out, I don’t know if we can trust any of this. Even if Heather says it’s happening.

Chance: Well, if there was ever a wild card, it’s Phyllis, right? Where are you going?

Christine: You have outdone yourself. And who knew that was even possible? You have put this town through hell. You’ve devastated the people that love you, you’ve wasted public resources, and now, you just waft down the stairs like you’re some kind of prom queen? And your children. Who grieved you for dead right with you, even though one of them will be facing charges because of you. I hope you appreciate their loyalty, no matter what it costs them because it’s a hell of a lot more than you deserve.

Phyllis: Well, my children know I love them, Christine. They know that the reason I did what I did was–

Heather: My client will not be speaking until we get to the station.

Christine: It can’t happen soon enough. Good luck, Heather. You’re going to need it. You have stepped into one mess of a case.

Chance: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have right to hire a lawyer and have one present with you while you’re being questioned. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to you by the state. Come on.

Diane: Okay, Mom talk is over. You are free to go wherever you’re off to.

[ Phone chiming ]

Diane:  Excuse me. Tucker? Oh, my god. Is this what I think it is?

Kyle: Phyllis being arrested. Summer right by her side.

[ Diane scoffing ]

[ Kyle sighing ]

Announcer: Next week on “The Young And The Restless”.

Chance: I just– I love seeing you this way.

Heather: All I’m asking is that you keep an open mind. Don’t let your hatred for Phyllis keep you from doing the right thing.

Summer: Damn it! Just admit that you slept with Audra. You can give me that much at least–

Kyle: I am not doing this here.

Summer: Just yes or no. Say it!

Kyle: Summer.

Summer: Tell me the truth!

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Door closes ] Don’t move. The details are not mine to tell, but our daughter is considering doing something that I believe she is completely unprepared to do. And you want me to be the bad guy? I just don’t understand what happened. I was so sure that I could take those clothes. How could I have misunderstood deception’s arrangement with logan’s? It’s all over now. Pcpd let you go. Maxie took care of everything with logan’S. They dropped the charges, and no one’s mad at you.

[ Sighs ] God. When you’re the one pointing out the silver lining…

[ Chuckles ] I know. I know. You look tired. Have you taken your afternoon meds?

[ Sighs ] I am tired. I’m gonna go splash some water on my face, and then I’m gonna take my pills. Good.

[ Cellphone rings ] Hello? Oh, hi. I’m glad you called. I am so sorry I rushed out of the store like that. Yeah, I definitely want the coat and the belt. And you know what? I’ll just take it all.

[ Chuckles ] Use the card on file. Um, and can you send it over today?

[ Knock on door ] Great. Uh… that’d be great. Thank you. Oh, god. You’re the last thing we need right now. No, you scared the hell out of me. For the hundredth time, I’m sorry. Okay, great. Now, will you finally tell me why you basically abducted me and took five years off my life? Only after you tell me why you’re following cody. I wasn’t following cody. Actually, I was following selina wu. But why do you think I was following cody? Is he in trouble? Yes, I think he’s in trouble. And from the way things look, I don’t think I can get him out of it. Did curtis make it through surgery? Uncle curtis made it through the surgery. All: Oh! Nina: [ Laughs ] Dr. Barnsdall… were you able to remove the bullet? We were. But the bullet left significant damage.

What’s going on? Well, I saw this guy hanging around outside your house. I identified myself, and he ran, and he was also carrying, so I took him down. Okay. Come on. Up you get. Recognize him? No, I’ve never seen him before. Oh, mickey vasquez. You know him? Yeah, he works for sonny. What the hell are you doing here? Taking a walk, enjoying the pretty houses. Oh, really? Is it a crime to take an afternoon stroll now? Okay, I’ll tell you how this is gonna go — one of three ways. You tell me what you were doing here, or I take you down to the station and you tell me, or I ask sonny about it. It’s okay, dante. I know why he’s here. Tj, has curtis woken up yet? Not yet. Can we see him? Mr. Ashford is being moved to icu. Once he’s settled, he can have one visitor at a time. Thank you, doctor. I’ll keep you posted. So, what’s the, uh, best way to do this? Should we wait here or what? There’s a waiting room right outside the icu. Maybe we can all wait there. Yeah. Okay. You go ahead. I’ll catch up. You want me to say no. That way, I’m the bad parent, and kristina’s mad at me, not you. She never gets mad at you. She always gets mad at me. Well, maybe we should consider why that’s true. Oh, I know why that’s true. It’s because she thinks everything you say is awesome and everything I say is critical and judgmental. I thought you and kristina and everything was fine. We are, which is why I don’t want to screw it up. I want you to get screwed up. She values your opinion. Maybe because I don’t criticize her or judge her. Maybe it’s because you tell her everything she wants to hear, and I tell her everything she needs to hear. And I’ve already weighed in on this, so you weigh in. Okay. So, you want me to tell her it’s a bad idea, whatever it is. I’m not telling you what to say. Oh, are you going to have cue cards for me or feed the lines through earbuds? Maybe you won’t even agree with me. But you think I will. Any normal, rational person would. See, that’s where there’s friction. I’m telling you that kristina is going to do something because she thinks it’s a good thing to do. And what I know is that she’s not thinking about how this is going to affect the rest of her life. Okay, this sounds serious. So, you need to tell me what kind of trouble kristina’s headed for. I’m going to call sonny and maxie. I promised to update them as soon as we heard something. Yeah. Oh, hey. Oh, my god. It’s such a relief. I was so worried. My uncle is still in critical condition. Yeah, no, I know. So, it’s a little early to start celebrating, don’t you think? Well, he made it out of surgery, so I was, you know, being positive. Do you understand that my uncle could have died? Yes. That he could st– whoa, wait, molly. Kristina. Not now. What? No.

[ Laughing ] No, I wasn’t talking to you. I have some idiot knocking on my door.

[ Knock on door ] So you’ll send it over, right? Thank you so much.

[ Knocking continues ]

[ Sighs ] Can you not take a hint? No. Sorry. I’m really dense that way. This is not a good time. Well, good thing I’m not here to see you. Cody. Hey, I got your message. Sorry I couldn’t answer the phone. You were, what, at the police station? You called cody? Well, chase couldn’t reach you, so I used my one phone call to call cody. Why? Wait. You know what? Don’t answer that. It doesn’t matter. I’m glad you see it that way. But what does matter is that cowboy cody here couldn’t bother to show up. He didn’t even take time to answer your call. What was more important than helping sasha out in her time of need?

Is the pcpd running surveillance on the savoy? What’s your interest in selina wu? I think that she may have roped cody into something shady. Like what? Uh… you know, he’s a really good card player. You can relax, sam. I know all about selina wu’s illegal poker game. I get it. He had a concealed carry permit. He wasn’t really doing anything wrong. I know why he was here. I know why he was armed. Yeah, sonny sent him here. Yeah. Speaking of guns, you always toting that thing around, or is that because of the shooting at the metro court pool? Uh, many reasons. Mm. Have we heard anything about curtis? Guess he’s, uh, in surgery. Oh, wow. Okay. If you hear anything or get word, please let me know. Yeah, of course. Are you busy right now? Can I run something by you? Officially? No, not yet. All right. So… I have reason to believe that i was the sniper’s target, not sonny. Right. I mean, that would explain why you went up to the room that the sniper was set up in. You know about that? Yeah, of course. And, officially, I have to tell you that you’re not law enforcement anymore, so you can’t do that. Copy that. I’m the one who has to investigate. I see. All right. Got it. All right, good. Now we got that out the way, I will tell you why I am here is because I wanted to know your impressions of the crime scene. The pool area? No, the room the sniper was in. I mean, do you think we missed anything? No. There was nothing to notice. Right? It was clean as a whistle. Yeah. I mean, other than what you found — a discarded rifle, the ammo. No, it was clearly a professional. Yeah, definitely. I heard that the rifle is a ghost gun? So it was assembled at home, not mass manufactured, which means it’s untraceable. It is. So the weapon’s a dead end. Maybe not as much of a dead end as you might think. ‘Cause I was able to trace where that rifle came from. I’ve said all I can say. Now, your job is to get her to open up on her own accord. Just tell me if kristina’s in any kind of danger. It’s nothing like that. If that were the case, I would tell you.

[ Cellphone rings ] Okay. Uh, hold on. It could be something about curtis. Hey. Hi. Hi. So, curtis, he’s out of surgery, but there were complications. Like what? Well, that’s just it. The doctors don’t know how extensive the damage is. They’re bringing curtis to the icu right now. Do they think he could be paralyzed? No. The doctors didn’t say anything like that. I hope not. I am so worried about him. We all are. Is he — is curtis holding his own? Yeah, he is. Okay, focus on that. That’s all that matters. Thank you. You always give me great advice, and you always know how to make me feel better. You headed home? No, not yet. You know, maxie left me this vague voicemail. I have to follow up with her. She said that something happened with sasha. Nothing to say. Gladys… oh, I have a few things to say. First, I don’t owe you any explanations for anything. I’m not asking you to explain your hurtful and negligent behavior to me. I’m asking you to explain it to sasha, the poor woman you abandoned when she was under scrutiny by the authorities. Okay, that’s enough. Second, yes. I might not have been available to answer sasha’s call, but the reason that she was calling me in the first place is ’cause no one could reach you. So what were you up to, gladys? You care to share? Don’t make this about me. Okay, gladys, just knock it off. Cody had no obligation to answer my call. We’re not even friends. Oh. Is that right? In fact, I am not even sure why I called him. Must’ve been an old impulse. Well, for what it’s worth, I’m glad that you called me. I wish I could have helped. Oh, well, if wishes were horses, you could ride them all the way out of town. So get along, little dogie, and don’t — gladys, gladys… can I talk to cody alone, please?

[ Breathes deeply ] Fine. But if he gives you any trouble, just let out a blood-curdling scream. I am so sorry about that. I don’t care about gladys. Are you okay? I screwed up, cody — big-time. Hi. I know it must have been rough in there, observing in the O.R. While they were operating on curtis. It must have been scary. It was. Not a great sign if I want to be a surgeon, is it? This wasn’t just any surgery, T.J. Well, let’s just say I now have an even greater understanding of why doctors are not allowed to operate on their loved ones. Because seeing my uncle laying there, not knowing if he’d ever walk again, that… that was horrible.

[ Monitors beeping ] Trina: Mom? Yes, sweetheart? Could curtis still die? Well, from what dr. Barnsdall said, his condition… it’s still precarious. But we have faith in him. We all do. And we are going to get through this together. As a family. Including curtis. Mm-hmm. One of you can go in. Portia: Oh. Why don’t you go ahead and go see your dad? Are you sure? Mm-hmm. Go on in there. Tell your father we’re waiting on him. Okay. I will.

[ Monitors beeping ] Dad. It’s started.

So how were you able to trace an untraceable rifle? Well, I’m glad you asked, anna. It was one of 72 rifles that were impounded back in 2021. By your lot, the pcpd? Wsb. That rifle should be locked up in berlin, not out on the streets. The sniper has ties to the bureau? Like a former agent or something? Maybe a current one. I don’t know. Maybe your resignation wasn’t enough. What are you saying? That the bureau wants me dead? Hey, molls. Is everything okay with T.J.? Yeah, he’ll — he’ll be fine. Uh, we’re just upset about curtis. I’m gonna go to the icu. Oh, okay. But it seemed like something was off with him earlier at the savoy, too. Kristina, leave it alone. So there is something. Kristina, enough is enough. Wait. But — not everything is about you.

[ Monitors beeping ]

[ Monitors beep loudly ] What? What is it? I’m sorry. Did something happen? No, no, no. Nothing. Nothing happened. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. He was just so still. Um… I didn’t recognize him. I just got scared. I’m sorry. Oh, honey, there’s nothing to apologize for. No, nothing.

[ Sniffles ] You should go in there, and, uh… I’ll be in there later. A-are you sure? We’ll take care of it. Go. Please. I don’t want him to be alone. You know about the poker game. Great. It’ll save us some time. How long? Between you and me, we’ve known for months. Which is why we’ve been staking out the savoy. Are you going after curtis? The target is selina wu. If curtis is involved, it’s not because he wants to be. Okay, so if the pcpd has been running surveillance for months, why haven’t you made your move? What’s — what’s taking so long? Oh, it’s because you don’t want cody getting caught in the trap you set for selina. I thought deceptio n had a blanket agreement with logan’s — that I could go in and take the things that I wanted. I didn’t realize that I had to ask first. I mean, it sounds to me like an honest mistake, right? Thank you. Well, it’s all over now, right? Or will there be any charges? No. No. Fortunately, the store dropped the charges. I’m just not sure I’m ever allowed back there.

[ Breathes deeply ] All I ever wanted was to get willow a gift. She’s my best friend, and she almost died, cody. Yeah. Oh, my god. I need to tell michael and willow what happened. Hey, hey, sasha, sasha. Look, look, I — I bet michael and willow will understand. Okay? Can you finish the conversation with me right now? Yeah. Um… okay. Sure. That really is the end of the story, though. I’m so sorry that I had you come all the way over here. I will never bug you like that again. You can always call me whenever you need me. I’m just sorry I couldn’t answer the phone. It’s okay. We’re all busy people. I mean, you have your own life, right? Yeah, right.

[ Knock on door ] Oh, god. I hope that’s not the police coming to arrest me again. Hi! I am so relieved that you are okay. You — you are okay, right? Oh, it’s you.

[ Chuckles ] Did you expect someone else? It’s none of your damn business. Did you call nina? No. Why — why — why would I? No, no — maxie. She left me a message. She said that you were at the pcpd, but you were coming home. What is going on? Oh. Uh, gladys, do you mind filling nina in? Oh, gladly. Sasha: I’m so thirsty. Do you want anything? Oh, yeah, sure. Gladys? Nina? No. Gladys: I’m fine. You take care of you. S-should I be worried?

[ Sighs ] Our girl’s in trouble. So you’re gonna check in with our daughter? I’m gonna give kristina a call, but if she doesn’t confide in me, I’m not gonna push her. Of course you’re not. All right. I’m headed off to my editor, and I’m going to stop at the hospital first. I think kristina’s there. Nudge, nudge. I was gonna stop by anyway.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Wait. Everything all right? Yeah. There’s just something I got to take care of.

There are several factors that contradict the idea that this would be a wsb-sanctioned hit, foremost being it was unsuccessful. Yeah, but come on, you know, even the best-laid plans, they can go awry when you’re out in the field. Anything can happen. Yeah.

[ Knock on door ] Okay. Excuse me. But I know who this is. Sonny: Anna. Yeah. Open up. I was expecting you. Come in. I got a text from mickey. Yeah, mickey, I’m glad I ran into him. Saves me a trip to come and visit you, actually. And I did say how much I appreciated the idea that if I needed any help, I would ask for it. Well, that’s what I’m doing. No, I know, but the problem with that is, I didn’t ask. I’d apologize, but I don’t apologize for putting a person on you to keep you safe. I apologize because the person I put on you got caught. Next person I put on you, you know what? He’s gonna be invisible and silent. You should send a ninja. So that — so that way I don’t have to apologize for keeping you safe. Okay. Well, that’s a shame, ’cause you could certainly use the practice. Okay. On a different note, I talked to nina. Curtis made it out of surgery. He gonna be okay? It’s touch and go, but he’s alive. There’s nothing more important than that at this point. Here’s what concerns me. The shooter — who was he targeting? Happy you brought that up because I got a question for you. Do I need an attorney? No. But can you think of any reason why the wsb would want you dead? Great. So now you’re mad at me, too? What’d I do? Nothing — yet. What do you mean “yet”? Why are you acting like this? I just — I know you, kristina, and you’re never gonna let it go. Okay. Uh, molls, I’m gonna need a translator for this conversation. I overheard you at the savoy telling sam and mom that you could give T.J. What I can’T. What? Ew. And that doesn’t even sound like me. Did you forget the part that I heard you? You know that I have no interest in T.J. No, I know that. Okay. So then what the hell are we talking about here? You want to give T.J. A baby since I can’T.

[ Monitors beeping ] Curtis. I’m here. I’m right here with you. Your dad, trina, aunt stella, they’re right outside, too. And T.J., He’s on his way with molly. Nina was here earlier. If she doesn’t make it back today, she’ll be here tomorrow. You’re surrounded by so many people who — who love you so much. Your family loves you. And we’re right here. We’re waiting. We’re waiting for you to come back to us. I can’t believe I ran out that room like a scared little girl. Why? I’m supposed to be stronger than that.

[ Scoffs ] Trina, the reason you ran out of that room like a scared little girl was because, at that moment, that’s what you were. There’s no shame in that. There isn’t? None at all. A man who you just recently learned was your father was lying in front of you, hooked up to machines, looking like the life was drained out of him. If that didn’t upset you down to your soul, I’d think something was wrong with you. And that’s why we keep your great aunt stella around, for her pep talks.

[ Chuckles ] Listen, we’ve all been here the better part of yesterday and today, praying for curtis while all the while scared out of our minds. Everybody’s nerves are fried. And curtis is the last person who would want you beating up on yourself. You can wait until he wakes up and talk to him then. Fortunately, deception has a professional relationship with logan’s, which gave maxie the clout to get them to drop the charges. Well, sasha insists that it was just a misunderstanding.

[ Scoffs ] Even if deception had such an arrangement with logan’s, which we don’t, what would make her think she could just take anything she wanted and walk out without telling anybody? It doesn’t make sense. Mnh-mnh. It doesn’T. And why would logan’s leave the security tags on if they knew sasha was taking the clothes? Well, did sasha set off the alarms? She did, but she just showed them a receipt for the clothes she did pay for, so they thought it was just a glitch. Look, here’s the thing, gladys. I don’t think sasha is lying. Well, that’s what worries me.

[ Sasha laughs ] What if she’s getting confused again? What if she’s losing touch with reality?

I don’t see any reason why I’d be on the wsb’s radar. I mean, why? Well… it’s looking more and more likely that I was the intended target, not you. Why would you say that? The gun that was used is property of the wsb. You think maybe the bureau thinks you know too much and they’re trying to silence you? I mean, look, I don’t rule that out, but I can tell you both that if they wanted to get rid of me, they could just take me out like that. So efficiently. No one would be any the wiser. But shooting at me in a public pool like that, ignoring the possibility for collateral damage… like curtis. Right. It’s just too high profile for a bureau assassination. Then who else? Making headline news the way that I have recently internationally, because of my past as a double agent, that gives any number of people a motive to want me dead. How do we narrow down the suspects? Even though we know about the illegal poker games, we don’t have enough to make the charges stick, especially for someone as slippery as selina wu. And that’s the official reason. At least it’s legit. Also, if we’re gonna catch a crime boss like selina wu, it has to be for something a hell of a lot bigger than a casino racket. Okay. That makes sense. But still… still. Cody’s involvement has given me cause to hesitate. He may not be my son, but he is dominique’S. And I want to do right by him. Even though he’s in way over his head? Especially then. Sam, cody’s been doing pretty much whatever he wants his whole life. You know, he’s used to doing whatever it takes to survive. Whether it’s legal or not. Look, I’m not judging. I’m just saying I get it. I’ve been there. I think cody has a good heart. Okay. I don’t know. I’ve known him for a little bit, and I think cody has a well-paved road to hell. He’s not doing himself any favors, especially with what happened with that bracelet at the nurses’ ball. I mean, something was off about that. Do you think he stole the bracelet? I think cody is smart enough not to put an expensive bracelet in his coat pocket, so no. No. Me neither. But I do think selina helped cody get the charges dropped. What makes you say that? Sasha has been distracted, but nothing like she was before. Are you whispering about me?

[ Laughter ] Well, yes and no. No. It’s just, sasha, we’re worried about you. It’s okay. I’m just kidding.

[ Sighs ] But seriously, though, today could have been an even bigger disaster. After many, many public meltdowns and humiliations, the face of deception gets locked up for shoplifting?

[ Laughs ] Throw away the keys. To the cell and the straitjacket. Oh, even I have to admit, it wasn’t that bad. I’m just so grateful to chase for bringing me in the back way to the station so the photographers and the reporters wouldn’t see me.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh, god. Did I talk too soon? No, no, no! This has nothing to do with you. It’s just ava. I was — I was supposed to meet her, but I’m going to cancel. No, no. Crisis averted. Everything is fine. Go meet ava. Uh… a-are you sure? I’ll be fine. Okay. Well, I’m gonna call you like a million times today. Okay. I’ll walk you out. Okay. Is it just me, or were they being a little weird? Um, I think nina’s just worried about you. And honestly, so am I. Sinc e I’m perfectly capableof letting myself out, gladys, I’m assuming that you want to talk about sasha. I do. In fact, I need your advice. About what? Okay. Well, you know that sasha is seeing a psychiatrist as part of this process for dissolving the guardianship, right? Right. So dr. Montague has to report to the court his professional opinion of her mental health. And as her legal guardian, is it my responsibility to let the court know she was caught shoplifting? Wait. Are you talking about me being your surrogate? First, I plan a night out. Then you spend the whole night talking about your shelter and your foundation. You said you didn’t want to talk about babies. So you automatically just talk about yourself? Well, you were off-limits. And, yes, I was talking about myself. I was talking about myself because I’m actually doing something that I’m very proud of for the first time in my life. Is that a problem? No, the problem is that you’re making my fertility issues all about you. How?! Because if you insinuate yourself as our surrogate, T.J. And I having a baby becomes all about you and your pregnancy. Well, here’s a shocker for you. I wasn’t thinking about myself. I was thinking about my little sister and how upset she was and how I could help. Molly, I was willing to give up a year of my life and give birth so that you could have a baby. And I’m selfish? I don’t know if you remember what happened, but in case you do, I want you to know that everybody else is okay. I know that you worry about everybody else before yourself. And I love that about you.

[ Chuckles ] I love your bravery and…your big heart. But you got to look out for yourself, too. Your family, they need you. You know? I need you. And I don’t want to live in a world without curtis ashford.

We don’t need to talkabout this right now, okay? We’re all upset about curtis, so… you’re right. We are all upset about curtis. And now I’m upset because you and T.J. Think that I am making all of your problems about me when all I’m trying to do is help you have a baby. I was going to offer this to you sooner, but mom and sam helped me realize it was too soon. I’ve been waiting — oh, you needed mom and sam to figure this out? Yes, I did. Because I’m just your dumb, self-centered, narcissistic sister. You know what? You — you and T.J. Are right to think that I shouldn’t be your surrogate because god forbid your child end up anything like me when you are this perfect — I could hear you two all the way down the hall. What’s going on? Nothing. We’re fine, T.J. We’re good here. Molly was just educating me on why I am not good enough to be your surrogate. Kristina — not now, mom. What happened? Are you out of your mind? You want to tell the court about this? No, of course I don’t want to. The question is, should I? No! For her own good. We both know something isn’t right with her version of events. Are you asking for my permission to — to tell the court about sasha? No, of course not. Gladys, I want you to listen to me. Because, legally and officially, nothing happened. Well, I wouldn’t say nothing.

You are going to say nothing. Sasha made a mistake. Logan’s is not pressing charges. So do you want to go to the court and tell them about this? If you do that, you’re just causing her trouble. Is that what you want? You’re worried about me? I am. Because despite what you said before, I am your friend. But you’re the one who said that we couldn’t be friends. Yeah, well, I say stupid stuff all the time. Okay? Now, if we’re gonna be friends, which, hey, too late, we already are, you’re gonna need to know when not to listen to me. So hold on to my number, okay? If you ever need anything, call.

[ Door opens ] Sasha: Oh, god. What now? Oh, don’t panic. These are for me. I ran into the delivery person in the hall. And you need to leave. She needs to rest. Actually, I’ve gotten my second wind, but thanks. Um, I really should get going. I got a horse to groom and a stable to clean.

[ Chuckles ] Remember what I said. I will. Okay. Here’s what I need you to remember. Whatever he said to you, you cannot count on cody bell. He will only get you into trouble. Why would selina wu lift a finger to help cody? Uh… at this point, the less said, the better, commissioner. You’re probably right. You’re a really good guy to worry about cody. But I’m worried that it’s too late for us to save him from himself. I think I’m gonna go check on trina. Just taking a minute to herself, stella. Let her be. Well, it’s been a long minute. Oh. Hey, stella. Stella, I got you. I got you. You all right? Come on. Come on. Is it your heart again? Look, I-I’m fine. And I’ll be even better once curtis wakes up. Stella, we’re in a hospital. Why don’t we get you checked out? Shh.

[ Sighs ] You feeling better, baby? A little. I always say there’s nothing makes you feel better than a splash of water on your face. So, my mom is still in there. Yes. Yeah. I know you’re worried, but it’s normal for patients not to wake up so soon after surgery, especially one as difficult as curtis’. Thanks. I know. But until he wakes up, we won’t know how much damage the bullet did. He could be paralyzed. You know I hate this, not being able to — to do anything. But I’ll just stay right here, right by your side.

[ Breathes deeply ] I hate that I stayed away from you after I found out that you kissed jordan. Because we made a commitment, and I-I-I let my pride get in the way. But not anymore. Because, honey, I love you. I love you so much. And my harsh words, they can’t be the last thing that you hear me say. Okay? So open your eyes for me so I can tell you how much I love you. Please. Just so we’re clear, I’m not completely ready to rule you out as a target here. You got to keep your eyes open. You know me. I don’t drop my guard. Okay. Dante: Anna, any way we can get any of the records from the ops you did with dvx? Anything the wsb has that could give us a lead? I doubt any of it’s been declassified, even after the leak, but we don’t need it. Because I remember everyone. I remember the name of every person that was ever compromised by my actions. Great. Let’s find out where they are and what they’re doing. That’s gonna take too long. I mean, this person has proved that they have little to no regard for human life, that they’re willing to sacrifice any innocent bystander, probably knowing that I would blame myself for that. I’m not about to allow anyone else to get hurt because of me. Anna, what’s the plan? I think we lure my enemy out into the open… using me as bait.

[ Door knocking ]

[ Hope panting ]

[ Brooke sighing ]

Brooke: Hope!

[ Brooke gasping ] My god. What are you doing? Oh, this is unbelievable.

Hope: Mom! What?

Brooke: You and thomas?

Carter: Okay, so– so you really think it’s a good idea?

Ridge: What? Brooke talking to thomas? I think it’s a great idea. It would mean a lot to him.

Carter: Well, I’m surprised that she’s willing to after everything that’s happened.

Ridge: Why are you surprised by that? Maybe she could see him for who he is instead of who he was.

Taylor: Oh, hey fellas.

Ridge: Hey.

Taylor: Am I interrupting?

Carter: No, no, not at all. It’s good to see you, taylor.

Taylor: It’s good to see you too, carter. I’m looking for thomas. We’re supposed to have dinner and I can not reach him. Do you– do you know where he is?

Ridge: Yeah, he’s with brooke.

Liam: No, no. Once the third quarter projections for australia are finalized, then you send them to me. No, I did– I did tell you that yesterday, bryce. Yeah, all right. Thank you. I thought you went home.

Wyatt: Well, I saw that you didn’t, so I brought chinese.

Liam: Oh. Thank you. I was just, um, finishing up with the sydney team.

Wyatt: Yeah, I know. Nice. I think the way you’ve been handling the situation down under’s been pretty impressive. You know, speaking of situation, I just wonder if you’ve been burying yourself in your work a lot lately because you’re trying to distract yourself from the situation at home. Your marriage. When are you gonna go talk to hope?

Liam: Dude, I really– I really don’t want to talk about hope and thomas.

Wyatt: Right. I get that, but it’s not like the situation’s just gonna go away.

Liam: Yes, I know. I know, wyatt. I’m painfully aware of that. Every time I stop even for a second, what races through my brain is hope kissing thomas. Do you wanna– do you wanna know what the best part of my day has been? Yelling at the sydney team. What does that say?

Wyatt: Okay, you know what? This whole thing has been rough on you, I get that. You don’t want to talk about hope and thomas. That’s fine. So, let’s just take the jackass out of the conversation and we’ll just talk about hope. You remember her. About yay high, blonde hair, great eyes. Your wife. The woman you love.

Taylor: Okay, well why– why is thomas with brooke?

Ridge: She’s worried about hope and liam’s relationship.

Carter: That’s understandable after what just happened in rome.

Taylor: Yeah, but she’s been worried about their relationship for a while. Thomas told me what happened in rome. At least, this time, no one can blame thomas.

Ridge: And brooke agrees. She knows hope started this one.

Hope: Mom, what are you doing here?

Brooke: What are you doing here? In thomas’ bed? You are a married woman or have you forgotten? How could you do this, hope? How? This isn’t charmin!

Wyatt: Spoke to dad today.

Liam: Oh, yeah? Is he checking up on us?

Wyatt: Pretty much. I mean, I told him everything was fine, that he had nothing to worry about, but you know how he is. If he can’t see it, he can’t believe it.

Liam: Wait, you didn’t– you didn’t, um… you didn’t say anything about hope and thomas?

Wyatt: That’s not my business to tell, liam. Neither is you staying at his place while he’s gone.

Liam: Thank you. I appreciate it.

Wyatt: Look, I know that this whole thing has been rough on you, but it’s not like it’s the end of the world, right? J– j– just hear me out, hear me out here. You– you have a lot right going on in your life.

Liam: Do I?

Wyatt: Yes, you do and you know you do. Hope loves you, you love hope. You have beth. You have douglas. You have a beautiful family that everyone can see that.

Liam: Oh, can everybody see that, wyatt?

Wyatt: Yeah.

Liam: Can everybody see that? Do you think hope couldn’t see that when she had her tongue down thomas’ throat?

Wyatt: Fine, I will give you that one.

Liam: Thank you.

Wyatt: But, I don’t want to harp on this. Maybe, just– just maybe, you can find a little bit of compassion and forgiveness for your wife.

Liam: I think I should get back to work.

Wyatt: No, liam, I’m serious here!

Liam: I’m being serious too! What do you think I can do? You think I just have this superpower where I can forget everything that happened in rome? Like, deleted.

Wyatt: You know what? If you really love hope, then you need to dig deep and find a way to talk to her and forgive her.

Taylor: Look, I am– I am– I am glad that brooke knows that– that hope is the one that kissed thomas, but– but see, I just– I just have this feeling that– that thomas is gonna end up getting blamed for this because that is always what happens. And he has risen above so much, the last thing I wanna see is– is hope or any of the logans drag him down.

Ridge: Here we go, okay.

Carter: I should be going.

Ridge: Smart move. Can I come with you?

Carter: Nope. Goodnight.

Taylor: The allure of the city, carter?

Carter: Goodnight, taylor.

[ Taylor sighing ]

Ridge: So, that’s how you feel, huh?

Taylor: I do. I really do. You know how hard thomas has worked to get to where he is and he is a better man. He is a better father and I am so proud of him.

Ridge: So am I. I haven’t seen him so happy or so well-adjusted in a long time.

Taylor: And he’s happy and well-adjusted because he’s been sticking to his program and he is– he is dedicated to being the best version of himself that he can possibly be.

Ridge: I agree.

Taylor: Okay.

Ridge: So, shouldn’t we celebrate that?

Taylor: Ridge, I celebrate that everyday. But now, I’M… I’m worried. I am. I’m– I’m worried that– that hope’s little stunt in rome is gonna be a trigger for our son.

Ridge: Hasn’t been so far.

Taylor: So far. Well, I’ll tell you this, I do not want to see the logans sabotage thomas.

Hope: Mom, please let me explain.

Brooke: How? How are you going to explain? I came here today to tell thomas I knew that kiss wasn’t his fault. I came here in good faith. I was gonna extend an olive branch. And then I find the two of you in bed together. I’m beginning to wonder if you didn’t manipulate my daughter after all.

Hope: Mom, this is not thomas’ fault. He did not manipulate me. I made a choice. I know what I did and I don’t regret it.

Brooke: Honey, you turn to the one man that your husband hates more than anything–

Hope: My husband left me!

Brooke: I refuse to believe that, I do. You have to keep fighting, hope. And this thing that happened here today with you and thomas, this was a mistake. You are not going to be with thomas. When it comes to your hair, ingredients matter.

Ridge: No one is trying to sabotage thomas.

Taylor: Yet.

Ridge: Why do you do that? Why?

Taylor: What?

Ridge: It’s a simple kiss. Nothing’s gonna come of it.

Taylor: Oh, okay, ridge. How can you be so sure of that?

Ridge: I can be sure because if they had wanted to get together, they would’ve done it right here in L.A. Plenty of opportunity.

Taylor: But there were no feelings involved and now there are. Are– are you forgetting that thomas had an obsession?

Ridge: Had an obsession. History, past. It’s changed now.

Taylor: Mm-hmm. Right. But– but now, there is an active trigger and hope is pulling him back into the barrel.

Ridge: It was a simple kiss and it was heat of the moment, that’s all.

Taylor: Okay, well, that simple kiss in the heat of a moment can be very dangerous for our son.

Ridge: No, it’s– it’s not gonna come to that.

Taylor: Well, see, we don’t– we don’t know what thomas is thinking. We don’t know what’s coming up for him. We don’t know how he’s feeling.

Ridge: Here’s what I know. I trust him. Do you?

Taylor: This is not just about trust.

Ridge: Simple question. Do you trust him?

Taylor: I do. I do not trust hope or her mother.

Liam: All right, I really do have to get back to work now.

Wyatt: Oh, come on. Don’t blow me off, man.

Liam: I’m not blowing you off, wyatt. All right, okay. I know what you’re doing. You’re looking out for me and my family and I appreciate it and I hear you.

Wyatt: Okay, so what’s the problem?

Liam: What’s the– do you get that I want to forgive hope?

Wyatt: So then, why don’t you tell her that?

Liam: Because she’s the one who caused all of this in the first place by making out with thomas! Do you– do you understand that every time I close my eyes… yeah, see, there it is. See, there it is again. This is gonna haunt me forever, do you understand that?

Wyatt: Okay, I get that. Seriously, I do. But dude, it was– it was one kiss. One kiss. That’s it! Like, are you willing to just destroy your whole marriage and your family over that?

Thomas: Look, neither of us expected this, brooke. I mean, hope came over here in pain and upset because liam said he wanted a divorce.

Brooke: You should’ve sent her home.

Hope: Could you stop blaming him, mom? I don’t need rescuing right now.

Brooke: Just the other day, you were saying wanted to fix your marriage, you wanted to save it, and now this? It doesn’t make sense.

Hope: I hate what has happened, but liam made it very clear to me that it is over between us.

Brooke: You can’t give up.

Hope: I’m not the one that gave up on my marriage, mom! That was liam! And sure, maybe this is moving too fast with thomas, maybe it’s– maybe it is wrong, maybe it is scandalous, but it was also beautiful and passionate and romantic and if anyone should be able to understand it, it should be you.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Target circle week!

Ridge: I know you’re concerned about thomas and I know you don’t have a lot of patience with brooke right now.

Taylor: You think?

Ridge: But this isn’t about brooke. This is about hope and our son and the two of them had a moment in rome and I feel… given enough time, everyone’s gonna forget about it. That’s what I think. What do you think?

Taylor: I don’t, um…

Ridge: Okay, then, let me help you. Let’s just say that everything’s gonna work out just fine.

Taylor: Who are you right now?

Ridge: I know.

Taylor: What is going on? Mr. Positive?

Ridge: Point is this: It’s a simple kiss. It’s not gonna change anything.

Taylor: Mm-hmm.

Wyatt: Liam, don’t let one mistake destroy your entire marriage.

[ Liam sighing ]

Liam: I– I hear what you’re saying, but you’re not hearing what I’m–

Wyatt: Okay, because I’m saying it’s just one kiss. That’s what I’m saying.

Liam: That I know of. That I actually saw. And– and it was a kiss with thomas!

Wyatt: Oh, okay. So if hope kissed some random italian guy in rome, you’d be able to forgive that?

Liam: Have I not been saying that? Yes, that is the kind of thing I could eventually come to forgive.

Wyatt: Okay, I love you, but you need to let this go.

Liam: Oh, my god.

Wyatt: No one hates thomas more than I do, okay? Yet I’m asking you to let it go! Forget about him! Concentrate on hope. Think about what you do have. Think about your daughter. You have so much worth fighting for here.

Liam: Wyatt, why thomas? After– after everything that he’s done to us, what– what does that say about hope?

Wyatt: I don’t know why. I don’t know why she did what she did. She probably doesn’t even know why she did what she did.

Liam: Oh, that’s encouraging. That bodes well.

Wyatt: The thing that I do know, liam, is that you are the man that hope wants and loves. That’s it. Not thomas.

Hope: I didn’t plan any of this. I never thought for a minute that I could be with a man like this while I’m still married to another. I mean, how could I possibly, right? That’s not who I am.

Brooke: You’re right. That’s not who you are.

Hope: Yeah. Little miss hope logan. Too good to do something so thoughtless. I mean, how could I possibly? But I hate to break it to you, mom, what thomas and i shared was beautiful. And I have never felt this way before. And I am following my heart just like you did all those years ago and I am not saying that to blame you, mom. I don’t blame you for any of this. If anything, it just makes me feel even worse about the way that I attacked you for your past. Saying that I never wanted to be like you. Well maybe, I was wrong.

Brooke: Honey, you are nothing like me. I made a lot of mistakes in my life. Turning to the wrong man, the inappropriate man, and it cost me a lot. I don’t want you following in my footsteps. I don’t want that kind of life for you. You are so much better than that, hope. And when you say what you and thomas shared was beautiful? Well, I am not gonna believe that because nothing good will come of this. In fact, nothing will come of this. The two of you are going to forget everything that happened here today. You’re gonna wipe it from your minds, from your memories. No more lingering desires. Nothing. And you are going to go back to your husband, to your family, to beth and douglas. That’s where you belong, hope. You’re going to make it work. And this, whatever happened here between you and thomas, it is over. This affair ends today.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

So, what makes you want to resign from the hospital, Nurse King? Oh, it’s not the job. No complaints there. And your wife, oh, she’s wonderful. Honestly, the best boss I’ve ever had is Dr. Johnson. I’m sure she’d be glad to hear that. But if you’re so happy here, why do you want to quit? Unless you’re going somewhere.

Uh, uh, Mrs. Grant, uh, what are you doing here? I thought your father’s funeral was today. Yes, uh, it was. You were there, weren’t you? My brother said he saw you standing at the back of the church. Uh, yeah. I just, uh, wanted to pay my respects. That was very thoughtful of you. Especially since it’s so strange that we even had a funeral.

What do you mean? We don’t have my father’s body, so we can’t properly lay him to rest. There’s still all these unanswered questions. Right. Of course. Which is actually what I wanted to talk to you about. Do you mind if I come in?

Uh, what do you not understand about goodbye? You are dead. Go. What

now?

Well, look what the cat dragged in. Hey.

Hey, Dave. Pretty, uh, pretty rude in service, huh? Those people that loved and respected Abe, it’s quite a turnout. Yeah, standing room only. It’s pretty great that you came, considering everything that’s going on with Rachel. You must be going out of your mind. I want my little girl back, obviously, but it’s not like she’s actually missing.

What do you mean? I thought she ran away from summer camp. She did. But Tink, I know exactly where she is.

Okay, so what you’re saying is that you will tell us where my granddaughter is only if you get something in return. Well, I didn’t say I know where she is. This is all hypothetical at this point. But yes, if I did know, I wouldn’t tell you without being rewarded. Alright. What is it that you want? My very own pony.

What the hell do you think I want, Marlena? I want custody of my daughter.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives. I

know

you. Well, of course you know me. I’m Lorna DeLorean. Everyone knows me. But I know you too, Henry Marshall. Henry. Henry Marshall. As if anyone could ever forget the most powerful ice cream magnet in the world. But, um, why are you dressed the way you are? I mean, really, you look worse than Charlemagne after Cassandra pushed her into the country club Cinderella.

Hmm. I was in the hospital, I, I was attacked. By whom? I, I’m not sure. You’re not sure who put you in the hospital? I, I don’t remember.

Well, that’s not important. Don’t you worry Henry, we’re gonna get you back to your old self. Lorna is gonna take care of everything. She always does.

Going somewhere? What? Oh, uh, I just, uh, decided to go back to L. A. You know, give this… I can think of another try. I’m actually kind of in a hurry. Oh, I won’t hold you up. It’s just, with all these unanswered questions I have about my father, my mind is kind of working overtime. And I’ve been thinking about when I met you down at the docks.

What about it? Well, Theo said that you wanted to tell him something, but you never got around to it. Uh, yeah, I just wanted to tell him again how sorry I was. About your father. Yeah. That’s what you said. The thing is, right after that you, you took off pretty fast. I mean, are you sure we didn’t do something to make you nervous?

Well, as a matter of fact, I am going somewhere. Oh, really? So you’re not happy in Salem?

When are you leaving Salem? I’m quitting my job. And I’m taking Abe somewhere far, far away from here where we can have a fresh start. Well, it has nothing to do with Salem. Just after all these years, I’m ready for a fresh start. Right. I get that. If you don’t mind me asking, um, where are you headed? Oh, uh, I’m going to Arizona.

Scottsdale. I’m originally from there and I still have some family there. I bet. Considering you’re one of five kids. How do you know that? From your background check. What background check? The one the FBI ran on you after Abe disappeared.

Well, I would ask Sean if there had been any progress on getting another warrant to search the DiMera house again, but, um, he wouldn’t know. Why not? Because he’s been suspended from the force. What? For drinking on the job. He’s still struggling with what happened at the home? Yeah. For weeks he’s been numbing the pain with alcohol.

I know you understand. Yes, I do. I’d be happy to talk to him. Thank you. But I think that finding Rachel is the priority now. So you think Kristen has her at the DiMera house? No, I, I know that she does. I was gonna go over there and just tear the place apart, but Marlena convinced me to let her handle it.

Wait, so Mom went to the mansion? She did. She did. And with any luck? Marlena’s gonna be able to convince that psycho to give me my kid back. Well, if you want to revisit custody, there are several ways to do that. You could, well, you could hire a lawyer. Oh, gee, Marlena, I hadn’t thought of that. Sarcasm. So have you hired one?

Well, I couldn’t find someone who would take my case. Hmm. So kidnapping was the next logical step. Hey, you know what? Your hypocrite stepson thought it was a pretty logical step when he kidnapped my daughter last New Year’s Eve. You are withholding the orchid that would have saved three lives, including mine.

So, what Brady did, he did for a very good reason. Well, I have a good reason too, dammit. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Why would the FBI do a background check on me? I had nothing to do with what happened with Mayor Carver. Don’t worry, Ms. King. It’s completely routine. You see, in kidnapping cases, they need to check out everyone who had recent contact with the victim. And you saw Abe the day he disappeared. The day you left work early.

I was sick. I thought I was coming down with the flu. I’ve already been through all of this with agent Grant. I know You see, the thing is we’re not exactly clear on what happened yet, and this is Mayor Carver we’re talking about. We’re not just gonna let this go. Not me, not the cops, definitely not the fbi.

You know, Abe was Eli’s father-in-law. Mm-hmm. , that man is gonna keep digging until he nails down the entire timeline, accounting for every minute between when Abe went missing. And when he ended up in that river, I mean, where was he all this time? Who was he with? The agency needs to get every detail of the victim’s movements.

Especially from the last person to see him. It wasn’t me. It was Jerry. Uh, why

would he, uh, when you make me nervous? You kind of seem really nervous right now, Jerry. I’m just, uh… Anxious to get packed. Okay. Well, I will get out of your hair as soon as I get some answers. Okay? So, can we go back to the day on the docks real quick? It seemed like something was really weighing on you.

And of course, we appreciate your condolences. But are you sure, Jerry, that there wasn’t anything else you wanted to tell Theo? Like what?

Okay, Jerry. So many people love my father and miss him terribly. And also because it was a tragic death under mysterious circumstances. It’s especially painful for me because I used to be a cop.

Right. And I want to help with this investigation so badly so I can find whoever took my dad and give everyone who loved him answers. Including myself. But, because I’m not on the force anymore, I can’t work with the police, Jerry. But I still need those answers, desperately. So, please. Jerry, if you know anything, and I mean anything about what happened to my dad, please.

I would appreciate it if you would tell me. Because it would give me the closure that I need to finally say goodbye to my dad. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. I lied. What did you lie about? Everything. All of it. My entire story was a lie.

Henry! It’s not polite to keep a lady waiting. Henry!

Oh! Oh, well, that is much better. You look perfect. Just perfect for what I have planned. So, are you ready? For what? To run for mayor of Pineview? This town has needed new leadership since the last guy got possessed by the devil. And you’re just perfect. But there’s still a lot of work to do. So you’re going to need me.

To do what? To be your Director of Communications. Well this is all sounding a little familiar. Well, that’s because I did do it once before but it didn’t work out so well. But this time, we are going to be a great success. You and I, Henry, are going to get you elected and nothing or no one is going to stop us.

Oh.

You’re sad.

Look, I know that your mom and Kristen have not always had the best history, but they’ve also been known to put their differences aside at times. I’m hoping Marlena will go in there with her expertise and help Kristen, you know, listen to reason. Brady, I hate to be the negative one here, but has Kristen ever listened to Rachel?

No. But she loves her daughter. And I think she feels guilty, Tank. She feels guilty that she’s keeping her away from me and from her grandparents. And if Marlena can go in there and make her understand that this is bad for Rachel, this is going to cause her damage, and appeal to her, mother to mother, I think that, with some luck, Yeah, she’ll be able to make her see the light, make her do the right thing.

You know, you can still do the right thing. You can repay the favor that I did for you yesterday, and you can tell me where Rachel is. Well, I can’t tell you what I don’t know.

You do know that whatever tactics you employ, Brady is never going to give you full custody. Of course I know. I’m not an idiot, Marlena. Well, then what do you want? I want Brady to share. No matter how you feel about me, you know I love Rachel every bit as much as Brady does. And you know that Rachel loves me.

And it is important for our child to have both parents in her life. So, now you know, hypothetically, How to resolve this situation. So I suggest you have a little chat with Belle.

I will talk to my daughter. And when you talk to my granddaughter, please tell her that I love her.

And your whole story was a lie. I never saw your father fall into the river. What, so did you see someone push him? No. I never saw Mayor Korver at the docks. Then how do you know he was there, Jerry? He wasn’t, but I was. What? You’re, you’re not making any sense. Of course my father was there. They found his hospital bracelet there.

They found his blood. Because I planted them. What? How? How, how did you get his bracelet and how did you get his blood? What did you do to him? Nothing! Nothing! Uh, uh, I swear, I swear. I didn’t do anything to your father. It was all Nurse King. Okay? Everything that happened, it was all a part of her plan.

You’re talking about Jerry Prentiss? The guy who witnessed Abe going into the water? Yes. He was the last one to see Mayor Carver. Oh, no, no, no. Hold on. I should have been more clear. I didn’t mean the last person to see Abe alive. I meant the last person to see him before he went missing. And that was you.

No, no. It was Jerry. Hang on. So you’re telling me, the day that Abe disappeared from this hospital… Jerry Prentiss was here.

Aren’t you a doctor? Shut up, Lorna. Oh, sorry. It’s just kind of hilarious. Anyone having the idea that looking at you, you’d be a physician. Well, how about everybody thinks that you are a raging bitch? At least I don’t dress like a whore. Well, you dress like a tacky whore. What are you doing here, Cassandra?

I’m giving you a reality check. Excuse me. You know, it’s one thing to rig the woman of the year contest, but fixing the mayor race? Well, that’s a whole different ball of wax. Well, I don’t have a clue to what you’re talking about. Oh, cut the crap, DeLorean. I’m on to you. And you know this big plan of yours?

It’s never gonna work. The hell it isn’t! Because I have the perfect candidate, and there won’t be any rigging or fixing, because Henry and I are gonna win this fair and square. Oh, well, we’ll see about that. Oh, what do you think you’re gonna do about it, Cassie? I’m gonna beat you at your own game. You see, I have my own perfect candidate right here.

Ah!

I appreciate your concern for me, but this, this issue with Sean is, is rough. I’m really sorry about it. And I’m also willing to talk to him for the 19th time. I know. It’s okay. Thank you. I appreciate that. He has agreed to talk to mom, though. Oh! I’m glad I found you two. Hey, Romina. Um, Any luck with Kristen?

She said she doesn’t know where Rachel is. She’s sticking to her story. Yeah, no surprise there. But, she said if she knew anything, she’d be willing to share. Okay. I can tell by the look in your eyes that I should assume that she wants something in exchange. Yeah. She would like to revisit your custody agreement.

Sweetheart, what are you doing downstairs? Attic is scary.

I know. Please sit down. But you know, that’s just a place where things are stored and you have your favorite books and all your lovely dolls. But it’s lonely up there, Mommy. I know what, I promise, this is, this is gonna be over very soon, alright? And you’ll only have to be up there for a little bit longer.

Um, but you know why it’s important, right? Hmm? Why you have to wear this? So the police don’t find me. Yeah, that’s right. And you’re doing such a great job. Remember when the officers, they came and searched the house and, uh, They walked right by you, surrounded by all those stuffed animals. Cause I was really quiet and I didn’t move.

That’s right! You did such a wonderful job! And so, it’s just a little bit longer, alright? So I’m gonna need you to go up to the attic, but this time we can throw a beautiful tea party. I’m gonna get you a little tea set, and some teas, and you can invite your little teddy bears and your dolls. Doesn’t that sound like fun?

I guess. Wow. Okay, um. What’s wrong, honey? It’s just… Is Daddy worried about me? I don’t like making them scared. I know, honey. And it’s very sweet that you’re concerned about your daddy. But you don’t need to be. Because like I said, this is going to all be over very, very soon. Hmm?

So let me get this straight. You’re telling me that Jerry Prentiss was here the day Abe disappeared. Yes, he was right outside of Abe Carver’s room, just lingering. Why didn’t you tell anybody about it? I didn’t think it was important. But when I read in the paper that he was the eyewitness that saw Mayor Carver fall off the docks, after seeing him outside his room, well, it seemed a little suspicious.

And you still didn’t say anything about it? No. Well, I didn’t want to get Mr. Prentiss in trouble. He’s such a nice young man. Or not. Wait. You don’t think that he could have something to do with what happened to A, do you?

Huh. Do I know you? Well, not yet you don’t, but you will. This is… Drumroll, please. The one, the only, the fabulous… Cassandra Clarkington. Cassandra. Cassandra. This is so confusing. Well, don’t you worry your handsome little head, before long everyone in this town will know my name, because I am throwing my hat in the political ring and running for mayor.

You have to be kidding. Oh, I’m as serious as a panic attack, darling. And I’ll be a shoo in with all of you. Oh my, vote for Sandra Cookies! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! And my first act, after I win, will be to bulldoze a town square and build my new discount store. Clocking Town! Ah! Doesn’t that sound fantastic? I think that sounds absolutely dreadful.

Henry, are you okay? I’m getting a strange sense of déjà vu. About what? Her. Cassandra? All men do. Hey, hey, watch it. No, no, no, no, not, not, not Cassandra. Sandra. Oh, well, why would you have déjà vu about me?

This plan. You raise the town square, you… You build a discount store. You’ve done it before, haven’t you? But you kept a secret. That’s not the only… What secret you’ve kept from me, is

it? Nurse King, what does she have to do with this? She’s the one who gave me the hospital bracelet, and his blood, and she told me to put them on the docks. Why would you do that? Uh, okay, listen, um, so my grandma was sick, and she couldn’t afford her medication, so Nurse King forged some documents so that, uh, her insurance could cover it.

Okay, I know it was wrong, okay? But when she asked me for help, I couldn’t say no. And I thought that I was helping, and I thought that she was a good person, but she’s not. Okay, you, you said that she did something to my father. What does that mean? Does she hurt him? No. Okay, then how does she get his blood?

What did she do to him, Jerry? Did she kill him? No. Then how does she get his blood? Tell you talk to me. She didn’t kill him. Then what? Your father is alive

Alright, that’s it. I’m going over to that house right now. I’m gonna put my hands around her scrawny Why Why not? This is just a ploy. It’s another ploy to get me to revisit the custody arrangement. That’s all this is I understand that But the thing is, right now, Kristen holds all the cards. And if you, if you do something rash, she could just pick up Rachel and take off.

Do you really want me to cave in to this diabolical woman one more time? I don’t want to. No, no! Belle, come on, there’s gotta be something we can do here, right? Listen, as much as I would rather be a sister than a lawyer right now, the fact that Rachel went missing works in Kristen’s favor. How? What? How?

Because you have full custody. So you’re responsible for all the decisions about your daughter, including what summer camp she goes to. The one that she ran away from. Oh, co… You’re telling me there’s a court out there that’s gonna think that this is somehow my fault? I’m saying that in the eyes of the law, the fact that she escaped on your watch, it looks bad.

Brady, this isn’t just about what Kristen has done wrong. This is really about what’s right for Rachel. I know, and I’m sure she gave you an earful about that. You know, it’s important for Rachel to have both parents in her life. I’m, I’m, I’m, I’m open to that. I believe in that. Tell her. Yeah, no, during the custody hearing, when Kristen was trying to cut Brady out of Rachel’s life, I tried to reason with her.

I tried to get her to see that a joint custody agreement would be the best thing for everyone. I, I wanted Rachel to have her mother in her life. Until her mother blackmailed me with using free women’s lives, including yours, I can’t believe you’re advocating for Kristen. I am advocating for Rachel. We’ve got to put aside our feelings about Kristen and focus on how that little girl feels about her mother.

Yeah. You know, Brady, If you did, uh, agree to joint custody, I could put contingencies in the agreement, so that if Kristen were to, I don’t know… Do a drug assault, murder someone, then I’d have my kid full time. Brady, I know this isn’t easy. But experience tells me, that the better things go with Kristen right now, the easier things will be down the road.

And you know what, before you know it… You’re gonna get to spend time with both me and your daddy, alright? Ah, come here. I love you, sweetheart, so much. I love you, too, Mommy. Mmm. Alright, now head back on up into the attic, and I’m gonna bring your fabulous tea set, and we’re gonna get all those beautiful teas that Harold

has. All

All

right. There you go, sweetie.

I kept a secret from you? Well, I don’t have a clue what you mean. Well, this isn’t about the store. This is about something else. This is, uh… Well, that’s a much bigger secret. Well, we only just met, Henry. How could I keep anything from you? You know, much less a, uh, earth shattering secret. Well, yes. Yes, it was.

It was. Earth shattering. Well, there was a time that she stole your recipe for a rocky road. Ugh, that was you, you idiot. Well, there was a time that you tainted his sprinkles with some mind altering hallucinogen. Yeah, this is, uh, this is, uh, This is about something else. This is, uh, It’s much more important.

I remember. I remember.

You and I. We have a daughter.

What do you mean, my father is alive? I mean, he never fell off the docks. Nurse King’s had him this whole time. Jerry, if you are messing with me I’m not! I’m not. Okay? She kidnapped him from the hospital, and she’s been pretending to be his wife this whole time. And she paid me to tell Abe that I’m your brother, Theo.

And he believed you? Yes. Yes. At first. And with his head injury, he doesn’t remember anything from his life. Well, that’s not exactly true. What do you mean? Hope, every once in a while, he has these little flashes, like, uh, memory comes back to him. And he tries to put the pieces together, but Nurse King won’t let him.

So about Mr. Prentiss. Do you think it means something that he was here the day that Mayor Carver disappeared and he’s the one who saw him fall into the river? We’re sure as hell gonna find out. Excuse me.

Hey John. Yeah, I’m still at the hospital. I spoke to her. She told me something very interesting. You got an address on this Jerry Prentiss guy?

Mayor Carver, he, he, he, he knows there’s something off, but Nurse King, she sedates him to keep him in line. Why would you be a part of something so sick? I didn’t know, okay? Uh, she said she needed me for an acting gig. And, and she said that it would help him with your father’s recovery. I didn’t know I would have to fake his death.

Where is he, Jerry? Where is my father? As far as I know, he’s still at her apartment, but she said that she’s gonna leave town, and she’s gonna take him with her. I’m sorry. For everything, I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry! I’m sorry!

Okay, well, my assistant just emailed a PDF of the amended custody agreement to Brady, and you should be getting it right about now. Ah, so as soon as Kristen gets that, we get to have Rachel back. Yeah. Do you really think that giving in to Kristen’s demands was the right thing to do? I think the right thing to do is what is best for Rachel.

Honey, she loves her mother. She wants to spend time with her. And there’s, there’s not a court in the land that will not take into account what a child wants. I just wish that Kristen would have found a way to deal with this without involving kidnapping. Yeah, but now that Brady is willing to compromise maybe everybody can move forward in a, in a civilized way.

Spoke to Marlena. She said that you’d be interested in revisiting our custody arrangement. Word travels fast. She said that if I was willing to amend it, that that might help in the search for Rachel. I do recall mentioning that. Well, I think you’ll, uh, be very pleased with the changes then. Yes, I am.

Quite pleased. Do

you know, I

have a really good feeling about this, Brady. I just know that once I sign this, Rachel’s gonna be found.

You’re dead.

I have a good feeling about this too.

Sorry, Jerry, but I didn’t want to do this. Dr. Johnson’s husband was getting awfully suspicious. It was either you or me, so I had to throw you under the bus. Hopefully you’re long gone

by now. I’m sorry, Miss King. Abe’s daughter deserves to know the truth. I’m not going to be there when she finds him. I’m not going down for

this. A daughter? I only just met you, Henry. We don’t have a daughter. Oh, yes, we do. Oh, is he alright? Mentally speaking? He’s as sharp as a tack. Well, I beg to differ because what he is saying is impossible. Man. This, uh, You hear that sound? I don’t hear a thing. It sounds like someone, Someone knocking. See? I think I hear it now.

Me too. I don’t know what you people are talking about. All I see is a man who is clearly out of his mind.

Oh my god. Daddy.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Steve finishes a call with Kayla as he is preparing for Abe’s funeral. John shows up at the door. Steve asks if there’s any news on his granddaughter. John responds that it’s obvious Kristen got her, they just don’t know where the hell she took her.

Brady is posting missing persons posters of Rachel in the town square when he runs in to Marlena. Marlena mentions going to Abe’s funeral but offers to help. Brady says she doesn’t have to and admits it’s kind of pointless because they know who has Rachel.

Kristen comes down the stairs at the DiMera Mansion, texting Rachel to remind her not to text her friends and not to open the door to anyone. Lani then shows up at the door, shocking Kristen who excitedly hugs her.

Chanel and Paulina prepare for Abe’s funeral. Paulina asks for Lani but Chanel says she just went to run an errand. Chanel and Paulina hug as they hold back tears. Paulina wonders how she will make it through the funeral.

Whitley brings Abe breakfast and comments on taking good care of him. Abe argues that she is not Paulina and she is not his wife.

Steve asks John if there’s anything he can do to help. John wishes there was but says the cops searched the DiMera Mansion from top to bottom and found nothing. Steve asks what Kristen’s endgame is and if she plans to take Rachel and run. John doubts that because if she left town, that would mean she’s giving up on Brady and he doesn’t see that happening. John adds that he has Kristen under surveillance 24/7 just in case. Steve offers him a cup of coffee and asks if he got any sleep at all last night. John says not really because he kept having a nightmare about Abe. John informs Steve that it’s the second time that he had the exact same dream about Abe disappearing from the docks. Steve admits that would shake him up too. John then declares that he’s starting to wonder if maybe somehow it was more than a dream.

Chanel tells Paulina that she wants to be strong for her now, especially since her mom, Olivia, can’t be there. Paulina says that just looking at her gives her strength. Chanel assures that she is always there for her. Chanel talks about being grateful for Abe and comments that it was like having a dad again after so many years without one. Paulina agrees that they were both so lucky to have Abe in their lives as they hug. Chanel guesses she’s not as strong as she thought as she cries. Paulina encourages that they will just have to lean on each other.

Whitley tells Abe that she is Paulina. Abe argues that he saw Paulina’s picture and it wasn’t her. Whitley prepares another dose in the syringe and says this medicine will get him all cleared up. Abe complains that he doesn’t want it, but Whitley injects him anyway.

Marlena knows Brady believes that Kristen is behind Rachel’s disappearance. Brady asks why Kristen would demand a warrant from the police to search the DiMera Mansion if Rachel was really missing. Marlena agrees that Kristen would leave no stone unturned to find Rachel if she really believed that she had been kidnapped. Brady complains that he’s out running around in circles while she’s sitting home in the DiMera Mansion.

Kristen brings Lani in to the living room and asks how she managed to get free. Lani explains that she’s not free and was only allowed out to attend Abe’s funeral as she shows Kristen her ankle monitor. Kristen tells her that she’s so sorry about Abe. Lani says she can’t stay long but she just had to see her, especially when she heard that Rachel was missing. Kristen blames Brady for making Rachel go to a camp that she hated and running away. Lani stops Kristen and asks if she would be lying to her.

Theo joins Paulina and Chanel. Paulina is glad he’s there and mentions asking him to go with them to the funeral. Chanel is glad they are all going together. Paulina reveals that they are not because she wants Chanel to go get pictures of Abe from Steve and Kayla. Chanel says she could just text them to bring the pictures but Paulina asks her to just do that for her and that she and Theo will meet her at the church. Chanel then agrees to do that and exits. Theo questions Paulina seemingly sending Chanel away on purpose which she admits to. Paulina tells Theo that there is something she wants to talk to him about.

Steve questions John thinking his dream was like a premonition. John talks about Abe’s death and all the unanswered questions after everything they went through Marlena and Kayla. Steve relates to having a dream that Kayla was trying to reach him. John feels that’s exactly what this feels like. Steve asks if John thinks Abe might still be alive. John calls it possible, pointing out that they don’t know how he disappeared from the hospital, where he was the whole time, or how he got down to the docks. John adds that they can’t say anything to Paulina without anything concrete but it doesn’t make sense. Steve argues that they’ve gone over the evidence a million times. John suggests going back to the beginning and retracing every step because they have to be missing something. Steve agrees to start from the beginning with Whitley King’s statement.

Whitley encourages Abe that all his thoughts will seem like a bad dream, insisting that she is Paulina and she loves him. Jerry shows up at the door. Whitley questions what he’s doing there as their business is done. Jerry asks why she’s suddenly so freaked out to see him. Jerry pushes his way inside and sees Abe passed out, so he questions what she has done to him.

Marlena asks if Brady really thinks Kristen has Rachel hidden in the DiMera Mansion. Brady insists that he feels it in his bones and he knows it. Brady decides he’s going there now to get the truth out of Kristen once and for all. Marlena stops him and says he can’t do that.

Lani asks Kristen if after all the time they spent together in the convent, she would lie to her best friend. Kristen argues that she’s not lying and that the police searched the place top to bottom, so if Rachel were there, they would have found her. Lani remarks that if anyone could outsmart the police, it would be Kristen. Kristen claims that she’s not there. Lani questions why Kristen isn’t out looking for her then because she doubts Kristen would be here shooting the breeze with her if Rachel was really missing. Lani reminds Kristen that kidnapping is a crime. Kristen questions how it could be kidnapping when she is her daughter. Lani argues that she can’t be this stupid, reminding her that she is the parent without custody. Lani points out that Kristen just got out of prison while she has to go back later today. Lani encourages Kristen to enjoy her freedom and find a way to legally see her daughter. Kristen complains that she can’t even see her daughter without working things out with Brady. Lani advises her to do that and start with their love of Rachel. Lani tells Kristen that if she knows where Rachel is, now is the time to tell Brady.

Theo asks what Paulina wanted to talk to him about. Paulina knows he plans to give the eulogy at Abe’s funeral and thinks that’s so brave of him because of how much he hates speaking in public. Paulina states that today is going to be a very emotional day, so she doesn’t want him to feel the pressures of anyone else’s expectations. Theo says he doesn’t really and that he just wants to do it for Abe. Theo talks about doing hard things his whole life, but admits he is really nervous. Theo asks Paulina to let him practice his speech on her, noting that he did so with Chad for Juneteenth. Paulina agrees to listen as they hug.

Steve goes over how Rafe and Eli both talked to Whitley and her story has been consistent that she checked on Abe, he was confused and she left but when she came back, he was gone. John brings up none of the cameras picking up any of Abe’s movements which makes it hard to believe that he was just wandering around. John feels someone moved Abe, who knew where all the cameras were. Steve suggests someone who worked in the hospital but notes that Kayla talked to everyone on duty that night and says no one saw anything. John says that brings them back to Whitley. Steve mentions Eli doing a background check on her and Kayla said she’s a great employee who never took any time off outside of when her husband died. They talk about Whitley going home sick on the day that Abe went missing, despite not missing work for 15 years until her husband died. Chanel then shows up at the door. John hugs her and says he’s sorry. Steve guesses she came for the pictures that Kayla found which Paulina asked for. Chanel thanks them. Steve asks if she needs anything else. Chanel says they have everything they need and talks about everyone being so kind. Chanel mentions that Abe’s nurse even stopped by to see if Paulina was okay the other day which John questions.

Whitley steps out with Jerry and argues that Abe is fine and she just had to sedate him, which she blames Jerry for. Whitley explains that Abe saw Jerry on Body and Soul and figured out that he’s not his son, so she had no choice but to give him a break from reality. Jerry argues that this isn’t right and says he came to tell her that he met Abe’s son and daughter, who are wrecked thinking that Abe is dead, all because of Whitley and her crazy scheme. Whitley argues that it’s not a crazy scheme and that she loves Abe, he was meant for her, and she’s the only one who can care for him. Jerry questions her keeping Abe from his family and says if she really cared about him, she would let him go. Whitley tells him to shut up as he has no idea what Abe’s life was like with those people. Jerry argues that she doesn’t either, but he does know that they will be grieving for no damn reason and crying at his funeral when Abe is sitting in there right under their noses. Whitley declares it won’t be for long because she’s leaving Salem and taking Abe with her.

Kristen knows Lani is out on parole in six months, so she doesn’t want her to do or say anything that will jeopardize her getting back to her family. Kristen acknowledges Lani being unfairly separated from her children, so she knows exactly how she feels. Lani says she wants the best for her and Rachel as she knows how much she loves her, but Brady is her father and he loves her too. Kristen complains that she doesn’t get to see Rachel. Lani brings up Kristen still having feelings for Brady, so she questions why she would want him to suffer. Lani points out that all the time she’s been away, her kids have had Eli and she can’t imagine how painful it would be for them to be separated from him and that’s what Brady is for Rachel. Lani urges Kristen to think about it. Lani says she has to get to the church. Lani tells Kristen that she loves her as they hug. Kristen wishes she could be at the funeral for her and Theo, but she doesn’t think anyone would want her there. Lani tells her not to worry about that and to just focus on reuniting her beautiful family. Kristen says it was wonderful to see her and she hopes they get to see each other very soon. Lani assures that they will and it will be in Salem, not in federal prison. Kristen tells Lani that she loves her and kisses her on the cheek as Lani then exits the mansion.

Brady tells Marlena that he will be civilized with Kristen. Marlena asks when that’s ever worked with her and suggests he let her go to the mansion to try to talk to Kristen. Marlena says she might not be a trained detective, but she’s trained to know when people are lying to her and getting people to open up to her. Brady acknowledges that no one is better at that than her. Marlena agrees to go there after dropping the pictures off. Brady hopes that Marlena can get through to Kristen and find out where Rachel is. Brady thanks Marlena and hugs her.

Theo reads his eulogy speech to Paulina, talking about not thinking Abe would fall in love again after his mother died, but then he met this amazing woman who changed their lives. Theo talks about how much he and Abe loved Paulina and promises to take care of her. Paulina cries that they will take care of each other as they hug.

John asks Chanel about Whitley coming to their apartment. Chanel confirms that she said she wanted to give her condolences about Abe dying. John wonders how Whitley got their address. Chanel suggests that she probably got it from Abe’s medical file or from when she worked on Abe’s last mayoral campaign which John questions. Chanel talks about Whitley being a big supporter of Abe’s and even being in the park when Abe and Paulina got married. Chanel then exits. John and Steve agree that they need to take a harder look at Whitley.

Jerry questions Whitley leaving Salem. Whitley responds that she’s quitting her job and taking Abe somewhere far away for a fresh start. Whitley adds that she will pay Jerry a big bonus if he leaves town too. Jerry questions why he would leave Salem. Whitley argues that he’s up in his neck in this too, so it would be better if he were away from prying eyes and all the questions. Whitley adds that there’s nothing for him here as an actor. Whitley says she has to get back inside to Abe and she’ll be in touch about his bonus. Whitley reminds him not to say a word to anyone as she heads back inside. Abe wakes up and questions why “Theo” was there. Whitley claims he just forgot something and had to come all the way back. Abe argues that was not his son. Whitley says she has to get to work and he can watch his stories, then when she comes back, they can start a whole new life together. Abe repeats that was not Theo and not his son.

A few hours later…

Kristen is texting Rachel as Marlena emerges from the tunnels and asks if she’s interrupting. Kristen says no and that Marlena could’ve used the front door like a normal person. Marlena feels she wouldn’t have answered the door and says she doesn’t mind going through the tunnels as she knows her way around there after having been held captive numerous times in the past. Kristen asks to what she owes the pleasure. Marlena thinks Kristen can figure out that she’s here on Brady’s behalf about Rachel. Kristen asks if she took a good look around the tunnels. Marlena confirms that she did. Kristen says she can see for herself that Rachel is not here. Marlena doesn’t believe her. Marlena suggests Kristen make it easy on herself and everyone who loves Rachel by telling her where she is.

Brady meets John at the Brady Pub. John asks how he’s holding up. Brady admits he’s nervous as Marlena just went to the DiMera Mansion to confront Kristen. John then gets a call from Steve, who says he just gave Kayla a ride to the hospital so he’s going to check if Whitley is on shift and maybe have a word with her. John tells him to let him know what goes on as they hang up. Whitley then approaches Steve and questions who he is and why he wants to talk to her.

Abe watches Body and Soul where he sees Jerry’s character saying he’s done pretending to be somebody else. Abe remarks that he’s not Theo either.

Paulina, Chanel, Theo, and Lani are together in the park after Abe’s funeral. Chanel calls it a beautiful service. Theo comments that it seemed like the whole town was there including people he didn’t even know. Paulina mentions not seeing Whitley and asks if they did. Chanel suggests maybe she had to work. Theo says he didn’t see her, but he did see Jerry in the back of the church. Paulina decides she’s ready to go home. Lani says she’s going to stay there for a minute. Paulina tells her not to stay too long as Rafe will be at the apartment soon to take her back to prison. Lani assures she will be there in time. Paulina leaves with Theo and Chanel while Lani sits down on the bench in the park. Lani thinks back to seeing Jerry tell Theo how sorry he was about Abe. Lani then gets up and walks away.

Kristen tells Marlena that her psychological insight knows no bounds and asks if she really thinks that’s going to work. Marlena brings up that yesterday, she helped Kristen through hypnosis to get her memories back after Megan kidnapped her and injected her with mind altering drugs. Kristen says she thanked her for that. Marlena points out that she didn’t pay her for it and she doesn’t want her money, but she could pay her by letting her know where her granddaughter is. Kristen responds that she’s sorry but she can’t help her with that. Marlena argues that Kristen can’t keep going on like this. Kristen says if she did know where Rachel is, she’s not willing to give that information up for nothing, so she would need something in return.

Brady hopes Marlena will be able to get through to Kristen as he was hoping to hear from her by now. John encourages him to be patient. John then toasts to Abe, calling him the most honorable man he’s ever known and the best friend anyone could ask for.

Steve introduces himself to Whitley as a good friend of Abe’s. Whitley recognizes him as Kayla’s husband and asks what he wants to talk to her about. Steve says that Chanel mentioned to him that Whitley worked on Abe’s election campaign. Whitley confirms she’s a huge supporter of Abe. Steve brings up her being at he and Paulina’s wedding too. Whitley says she was at the park for the Juneteenth celebration and asks what that has to do with anything. Steve wonders if she could tell him the last thing Abe said to her before he went missing. Whitley complains that she already told the police everything and she needs to get going. Whitley says she needs to speak to Kayla and asks if she’s in her office. Steve confirms that she just got back and asks what she needs to talk to her about. Whitley reveals that she is tendering her resignation which Steve questions.

Jerry packs his bags in a hurry when Lani shows up at his door.

Chanel, Paulina, and Theo return home. Chanel offers to bake but Paulina says she’s not hungry. Chanel encourages her to eat. Paulina says maybe later. Theo asks if she believes what everyone said about Abe being in a better place. Paulina responds that she sure hopes so.

Abe continues watching Body and Soul and sees himself appearing in the show.

Adam: Listen to me, come on, sharon. I know you, okay? I know what you’re doing. You’re trying to save me from myself. This is about ava and it’s about sally, but I don’t need anyone’s pity, okay? Definitely not from you.

Sharon: No pity. I promise. Just partnership.

Adam: Listen to me. Think– think this through, sharon. If I feel you’re trying to manage me, I’m gonna be difficult and I’m gonna be argumentative. I’m gonna question every move you make. I’m gonna second guess every look you give me. This evolving friendship that we’ve managed to maintain, it’s gonna be blown to hell. Are you willing to risk that? Because I’m not. Not when you’re one of the only friends I have in this town.

*******************Chloe: You know, I was just giving my friend a career pep talk and I was going quite well without you intrusion.

Billy: Pep talk, right? Uh, to me it sounded like you’re doing a bang-up job explaining what’s in it for you. Truth be told, I’m– I’m on her side. I think it would be a great opportunity for you. It’s bold. It’s big picture, and with your talent, I think you’d knock it out of the park.

Chelsea: Thank you. I’ve been thinking about it, too, you know? My time with omegasphere is almost over and I need a new direction. Working on the game has been helpful and cathartic, but I need to focus on the future and I love fashion design. And I’ve run my own business before. I know both sides of the industry.

Chloe: I can vouch for that.

Chelsea: I mean, wouldn’t it be cool? Wouldn’t it be great? This company that’s already established, already so big, they already have funding. They already have support.

Billy: So? Go for it.

Chloe: It would be a great new challenge for you.

Chelsea: I think you’re right. I think I have to do it. Well, I– I just have to run it by the boss first.

Chloe: Ah. Connor.

Chelsea: Yeah. We thought he was bouncing back. He was acting like his old self again and now he’s just shut down. I think he had gotten really used to the idea of having a baby sister. But maybe my exciting new job news will help break him out of his shell.

Billy: Uh, I am fine. Thank you. They’re literally buttering us up with buttery pastries. This is not gonna be good.

Traci: No

.Diane: Nothing sinister. We just thought we’d save time if met face-to-face.

Adam: Yeah, and I want to fold it into my new enterprise: Adustus international.

Sharon: Hm. Interesting.

Adam: What is?

Sharon: Like you said, business and baking, totally different things. If you wanna make bread, for instance, you take your time. You wait and let your ingredients rest. You let them show you what they’re capable of. You care about every detail and you understand how every essential ingredient goes into making the final outcome. Wow, I just thought of that just now.

Adam: That is very fascinating. Well, thank you for the baking lesson.
