[ Sighs ] You’re not wrong. And don’t think I’m defending her. I’m not. But she is a teenage girl navigating unusual circumstances.

[ Laughs ] Really. Have you — have you seen the guest bathroom? Yes. But I also think her bad habits are exacerbated by spencer leaving. I think she feels abandoned. And I guess she’s living with people who she has no real connection to. I get it. I know you do. Am I a bad person if I still think she’s kind of a little brat? No.

[ Both laugh ] Maybe casual dating just isn’t in the stars for me. Oh, my god. Did that sound mystical?

[ Laughs ] Hey. Hi. So, are you meeting dante here? Oh, I wish. He’s searching for maxie and peter. Oh, I heard he took her hostage. That is awful. That sums peter up in a nutshell, yes. Awful. I really hope they find that guy. Yeah, me too.

[ Sighs ] So? So what? Well, judging from the napkin, I don’t think I really have to ask, but I’m going to have to ask anyway. How did things go with you and sonny last night? I walked in on him in bed with nina. The flowers are beautiful. Thank you. If I’d known about the chocolates, I would have brought them, too. Oh, don’t think I didn’t buy some for myself. I swear, I could feel lenny’s spirit when I paid for them. I miss him. I miss him, too. So, how are you doing? Still on your meds? Yes, ma’am.

[ Chuckles ] Good. How are things going with carly? Last night seemed… so hopeful. Yep. [ Sighs ] I’m taking it things didn’t go as planned? Carly and I are… as far apart as we’ve ever been.

Well, good for maxie. That plan took smarts and guts. And — and good for you, playing along with peter to keep him away from port charles. Must feel nice. What? Well, to be able to tell people that you had motivation other than hiding the truth about sonny. It’s kind of like vindication of sorts, huh? I’d hardly call me vindicated. So, um, any updates on that front? You and sonny, I mean? Why? What have you heard? Nothing. But obviously, there’s something. And you’re acting like you don’t want to talk about it, but I think you do want to talk about it. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have come all the way out here. Oh, come on, ava. We’re friends. [ Laughs ] I’m sorry. Never mind. Oh. Carly walked in on you and her husband in bed together. That is… horrible! 100% fully and completely horrible. Mm. I’m sure it was excruciating at the time. And it’s still pretty excruciating. But think to the future, nina. Doesn’t this mean you and sonny can be together? As you can probably imagine, we’re both pretty worried about maxie. It’s all I can think about — where she is, how she is, when is she coming home. I know. It makes me grateful for work. I need the distraction. Me too. Well, came in with amy so she could help with the clothing drive. We just loaded up the donations. I can’t believe how many there are. Have you seen the bins all over the hospital to benefit veterans in need? Of course. I didn’t know that was your doing. After the floating rib explosion, I was back down to one job. Best manager volonino’s has ever had. Well, with all that free time, I started volunteering for a nonprofit that helps veterans with physical and mental injuries — makes sure they have clothing, food, shelter, medicine. Sounds like an amazing charity. Yeah, well, I credit amy for getting the hospital involved. The clothing drive’s been a big hit. Which reminds me — I have a box of stuff that I left at home this morning, but my son is bringing it by any minute. Oh, getting the whole family involved. I like it.

[ Chuckles ] Excuse me. I have a patient I need to see. So, you and elizabeth — how’s that going? Sonny gave excuse after excuse of why they fell in bed together. As if there’s any plausible way to make that okay. Sonny’s still in love with nina and clearly feels compelled to act on those feelings.

[ Sighs ] I am so sorry. I’m not. I’m not. Seeing them together gave me the clarity that I needed. I mean, I’ve been wrestling for months with moving forward, if it was even possible. Now I have my answer. It’s no, by the way. Oh, I figured. Yeah, I mean, I’m not going to sit around while sonny prioritizes the woman who destroyed our family. You shouldn’T. No. Hell, no. I mean, I’m going to move forward. I am. My assistant is calling a divorce attorney as we speak. Divorce? Carly, that’S… necessary. I was going to say more like fast. Are you sure you’re making the right move? I don’t want to burden you with this, so I’m going to go ahead and sit down. Is that okay? It’s no burden, unless you don’t want to talk about it. It’s not — look, what I want is my wife, and that’s not going to happen. Why not? Because carly made it clear that we’re done. Maybe it seems that way now. [ Sighs ] Something must have happened, sonny. What was it? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you what happened. I made this grand gesture to have carly meet me because I needed some kind of a signal that she was willing to fight for our marriage. She didn’t show up? Well, she did, but it was, you know, very late, hours later, and I was… I’d done some thinking. Okay. Uh, carly would say to me that I’m defending nina because I have feelings for her, and I… and I guess it’s true, but I-I can’t shut it down, you know what I mean? These feelings. And as long as they’re there, carly refuses to be with you. I’m — no matter what — I-I told her I loved her, I told her that i didn’t want to lose her. And — and it doesn’t matter. I guess I just should accept that the marriage is over. Bull. You have not done everything you can for your marriage, and you know it.

I love you and I love nina, but I’m afraid I haven’t been a very good friend to either of you. What are you talking about? I should have been more forthright. You’re not responsible for my actions any more than you’re responsible for nina’S. I know, but part of being a friend is saying the hard truths. Okay, say it. You claim you tried everything to right things with carly. Right. Does that include telling her you went off your meds and that nina was there to get you help? No. So you’re still not being honest with your wife. But I told you — you rationalized. Just like you rationalized not telling carly that you and nina fell in love in nixon falls. [ Scoffs ] That girl is jealous of you, and she’s threatened by you. You think so? No, i know so. I don’t know where sonny and I stand. I don’t know where carly and sonny stand, for that matter. Well, surely, they’re over now.

[ Sighs ] I don’t know. I don’t even know if I’m rooting for that. Listen, ava, the only reason that sonny and I slept together is because we both believed that his marriage was over. He was in so much — he is in so much pain, and I don’t want to see him hurt like that again. Wait, whoa. Why did sonny think his marriage was over? Because carly was supposed to meet him as, like, some sort of sign that she was willing to work things out, and sonny got the impression that she wasn’t coming, and then I showed up, and things just — I don’t know, just progressed. Yeah, they sure did. Sorry. So do you think that it was revenge sex? N-no. I mean, say what you want to say, but sonny and I… we have real feelings for each other, ava, and it was more like we were repressing these feelings and we couldn’t deny it anymore. Come on, nina. Sonny’s not going to know that I met with a lawyer. If you decide to pull the trigger and he finds out, he will know, and there is no going back. I need this to be over. I’m not excusing carly. However, she was deeply hurt by the revelation that you and nina lied.

[ Groans ] And whatever happened last night… right. …Must have compounded that. Okay. So… don’t write her off yet. She’s writing us off. She may reconsider once she’s had a chance to cool off. Listen to me. She’s calling the shots. I ain’t having it.

I mean, I just wanted my family to be together, so I went along to get along, and… oh, my god, for the first time in my life, I got played.

[ Laughing ] And the whole time, the real villain was standing right in front of me. Nina. Or — or sonny? Both. Hey. Hey. What happened with dante? Have you seen him? Um, dante is gonna be fine. But… [ Sighs ] Peter august escaped again. So he got injured trying to stop peter? Dante was trying to be his usual brave self, but before he realized it was a partial inside job, he got knocked over the head pretty hard. Did he get a concussion? The doctors released him so he could search for peter.

[ Scoffs ] So peter got away.

[ Sighs ] At least dante’s ok? Look. -Hey. -Hey. Hey. What the — ah, it’s ok. I’m good. Are you sure? Doctor clear you? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, pretty much. What do you mean, “yeah, yeah?” Well, he said I’d have some headaches and stuff like that, but I’m ok. I’m more interested in finding brook lynn’s baby. I don’t know un– brook lynn’s baby? Peter kidnapped her after he escaped custody. What does he want with brook lynn’s baby? Is this a hostage situation, or he wants to, you know, get some leverage if he gets caught? Dante: Yeah. Peter knows the truth, doesn’t he? Yes, that’s what we think, yes. Well, what truth? Well, some–

[ Sighs ] Somehow, peter found out that the baby that brook lynn’s been caring for is really maxie’s daughter, which means all these secrets that we’ve been keeping have been for nothing.

So do you think that sonny and nina — do you think they were having an affair the entire time that he’s been back? I don’t know. I can’t believe this. I mean, sonny asked me to come to the haunted star tonight because he had this big, amazing, romantic night planned, and when I don’t show up on his timetable, he calls his back up? He calls nina? So, sonny reached out to nina? Or did nina just happen to show up there? I don’t care. It doesn’t matter. I mean, he was in bed with nina when I got there.

[ Stammers ] The whole thing just isn’t making any sense. I — I — maybe sonny just thought that you were giving up on your marriage because you didn’t show up. Well, those are sonny’s ridiculous terms, ok? Because I don’t get past my pain when he wants me to, that gives him the right to jump in bed with the woman who caused all of this?! What the hell does that say about sonny? What does it say about my marriage? I don’t know. I — I honestly — I — I truly don’t know. What does — what does it say?

[ Laughs ] You know, even after sonny defended her and protected me, and I really thought this was a hurdle that we could get over. I knew it would be hard, and I knew it would take a lot of time, but I thought we would get past it. Now my… my marriage is over. Brook lynn never had a daughter? Anna: No. No, and she promised maxie that she would raise louise as her own to keep her safe from peter, a-and it worked. Sonny, I mean, it worked for months. I had no idea. Well, maxie explained that she told you everything months ago, and that you were one of the few people that knew that brook lynn was never pregnant. Yeah, I tri– I tried to convince her to at least tell valentin, let him in on the plan so his heart wasn’t broken, but she thought that the more people who knew, the greater the chance that it would get back to peter, and in the end, I agreed with her. The most important thing was keeping that baby safe. So, nina, you knew this back in nixon falls? I’m gonna tell michael and kristina that you’re ok. Dante: Alright. We’ll see you. Yeah. Yeah, you know what, um… let’s go for a walk. I gotta call my mom. Ok. So, um, any new leads on where peter might be? Possibly. Maybe you can help with that? Yeah. I’ll do anything. Just name it. [ Sighs ]

I was going to call 9-1-1, but he insisted I call you first. You should know, he’s in bad shape. Anna! Valentin! Get him up. Alright, what are your terms? Simple. You do exactly as you originally intended — arrange my transportation out of port charles from a boat on this dock. Once you do that, I’ll send you a pin with charlotte’s location. But of course, peter had a plan of his own with fake nurse chloe. It’s really a miracle that I was able to give louise to brook lynn. And in all these months, you didn’t think you could confide in me or britta? I really thought the fewer people that knew, the better. But — I didn’t even tell my parents. Anything to keep my daughter safe. I of all people know that you must do everything in your power to protect your family. Don’t worry about our feelings now. What’s important is that we find louise. I agree. I don’t know how peter found out about louise, but he must have. I mean, otherwise, why would he have taken her? It can’t be a coincidence. Do you think whoever helped him escape told him the truth about louise? Well, you said the only other two people who knew were nina and chase, right? Victor would be just the type of swine to help peter again. But how could he have figured out that bailey was really louise? Oh, god, no. Austin, what is it? Alright, um, there is a possibility that victor does know the truth about louise. And if that’s the case, it’s all my fault.

[ Sighs ] I had a feeling I’d find you here. I won’t intrude, I just — I just wanted to make sure that everything was ok. Well, I can’t really worry about my marriage right now. I’m just glad that dante’s ok and maxie’s daughter comes home safely to her. Yeah. Ok, then I’ll give you some privacy. You know what? You really knew that… bailey was louise, didn’t you? Well, not on day one, but I knew pretty early on, yes. So when you were in nixon falls and peter was blackmailing you… …you were actually playing him. Please don’t tell me to give my marriage another shot. I’m just going to say that… I’m surprised how certain you seem. Every time I close my eyes, I see sonny in bed with nina. That’s pretty much the point of no return for me. Infidelities that they — they can be — they can be worked on, they can be worked through, and sometimes, they can be forgiven. Right.

[ Laughs ] He tried to throw jason in my face. Now, I know — I know that you and jason were married, and I understand the official story was that it was for the business, but that wasn’t the whole story, was it? No. We were in love. And that never would have happened if nina would have done the right thing. I’ve worked so hard on putting my marriage back together, and I feel like I’ve been working by myself. I really do. And, um… maybe walking in and seeing sonny in bed with nina was the smack in the face that I needed… to realize that my marriage died the night that that bridge collapsed. You know, it’s like, um… shattered crystal — you just can’t put the pieces back together. Hmm. It’s the old saying, “you can’t go home again.” And I feel the same way. You, uh — you doing ok? You just got knocked on the head and you’re asking me if I’m doing ok? Look, it seems like whatever you and drew were talking about, that… it took a lot out of you. Anna: Dante! Hi, sam. They found

Um… go in the house, lock the door, call the police. Stay on the phone with the police until somebody gets there to help you. We’ll get there as soon as we can. Bye. What’s going on? When she got there, there was a pizza delivery guy u-unconscious in the hallway. The door to the apartment is open and charlotte is nowhere to be seen. I’ll agree to your terms. I’m going to need your phone. Now, this isn’t the exact address, but it’s within the vicinity. Once the ship is docked here, I’ll send you the exact location of where charlotte is being held. If she’s harmed in any way, you’re a dead man.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Alright. Let’s go. How could this be your fault? You didn’t know bailey was louise. Alright, so you know that I was having a really hard time with brook lynn, and so was valentin, and it — [ Sighs ] Somehow, valentin’s uncle, victor, got involved. And then victor came to me and he had a sonogram, but the patient information had been torn off. And I told him how he could track down the patient. So it’s possible… that you led peter to my daughter? Y– I — um… I don’t — I don’t — I don’t know what to say. No, I… I wouldn’t say anything. I can’t right now. I wouldn’T.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hello? Hello, maxie. Missing something?

[ Monitor beeping ]

Pier 55. Come alone. And, maxie, if I get even a whiff of the police or anyone following you, I will disappear so fast, and you’ll never see louise again.

[ Chuckles ] And when I found out that you were going to be ok, it just — it hit me. I mean, just like that. What? My future is with you. I love you. Carly: What do you mean? What home can’t you go back to? No, no, no, no, I’m here to listen tonight. Oh, please. Please. Carly. I would give anything not to think about sonny and nina. Ok, um… well, things just kind of came to a head in my personal life tonight, that’s all. And not in a good way? Let’s just say that there’s — there’s a lot of, um… really horrible things about being imprisoned, obviously. I mean, you can’t live the life that you want. The food is horrible. You get beat up all the time, all of that. It’s — it’s — it’s horrendous. But he worst thing by far is the monotony — is — is hour after hour, day after day of nothing. And so, um…whateve r cellthey put me in, I would — I would just scratch scout’s name in the wall. You know, give me something to focus on. Give me a reason to survive. And the thing is, is that, um… it was impossible for me to focus on scout without thinking about her mom. My prior life in port charles. Right. And if I’m being completely honest right now, back when jason first reappeared, like, I knew, in that moment — I knew that sam would go back to him. So when she told me that she broke up with jason, it just — it just kind of messed with my head, that’s all. I bet it did. My memories o-of port charles are what kept me going, and that’s all, but now that I’m back, it’s like, I don’t know what’s real, I don’t know what’s fantasy. Especially considering co-parenting with sam has just felt so right. Um… it took me a minute to realize that sam’s not the same person she was two years ago. You know, she’s stronger. She got over jason. She got over me. And her heart is with somebody else. But that is life, right? And I think we all tell ourselves little lies so that we can live to fight another day. Ghs uddenly becamevery complicated. You know, I never could quite reconcile the nina I knew with the person peter was blackmailing. I accepted that the — the horrible secret you kept from carly was because you were angry. But it never made sense to me why you would let peter blackmail you over that secret. But the reason you did it was because you knew that maxie’s daughter was safe with brook lynn. And you let peter blackmail you so you could send him on a wild goose chase to the caribbean. Right? You could distract him. Why are you making it sound like what I did was noble, sonny? It wasn’T. I should have called the police the second that I saw peter, but I didn’T. My actions were purely out of desperation. I’m not a saint. I never said you were. It’s just not black and white, is it? Nothing is anymore. So, sam made it clear that she’s with dante now? She did, and, um… and she is. I’m sure that didn’t feel very good.

[ Scoffs ] The writing was on the wall, I just chose not to read it. I kept… holding on to something that wasn’t there anymore.

[ Chuckles ] Tell me about it. You keep fighting for something because at one point in your life, it was — it was everything to you, and you don’t think that you can go on without it. Yeah. And you feel like it’s your responsibility to hold it together. We just keep holding on to the past… instead of being in the moment. Doing what we should… instead of what we want.

Maxie. Maxie, can we do anything? I’m ok. I just need a minute. Can we just talk for one second? What is there to talk about? I trusted you! Because you convinced me to trust you! But you couldn’t let go of your petty revenge, and now my daughter is in the hands of her psychopath father! I did not mean for it to go this way.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Where are you going? I’m going to find my daughter.

[ Ship horn honks ] Right on time. I realize that all I’ve ever done is add trouble to your life. And tonight is proof of that. And no matter how angry I have been at carly, I never intended for this to happen, especially when I see how much pain you’re in. You’re not responsible for my actions. Well, I’m responsible for my actions. And I truly hate that I’ve made it even more difficult for you to salvage your marriage. I’m starting to believe it can’t be saved. We can’t do this. We can’t do this. I’m sorry, I — I thought — you thought that I wanted you to kiss me, and I do. But for all the wrong reasons. I’m just so focused on sonny, and I just want to hurt him. Oh. And you want to hurt sam, and you’re focused on sam, right? Yeah, I’m not — I don’t want to hurt sam, but maybe I wanted something to help me forget her. Maybe if — if — uh, you know, you were a stranger.

[ Laughs ] But, um, your friendship means too much to me. And we’re vulnerable right now, and you being jason’s brother just makes it… oh, it would be very messy. Right. Yeah, I mean, we just have a lot going on to get caught up in, uh, this.

[ Monitor beeping ] There was no sign of alcohol in mr. Cassadine’s bloodstream. Oh, just as I thought. Someone tried to make it look as though he were drunk, probably to dismiss anything that he had to say. Yeah. Thank you so much. Hey, valentin, I need you to focus. What’s the last thing you remember? Bailey… bailey is maxie’s daughter. Oh, you’ve figured it out. That’s probably why you disappeared. Ok, I’m going to need your help in finding her. So who told you about this? Or were you with someone when you figured it out? Laura: Have you seen anna devane? Nurse: She’s right in there.

[ Footsteps approaching ] Anna. Yeah? Oh, my god! Oh, no. It’s — he’s going to be alright. He going to be alright. What is it?

[ Sighs ] It’s charlotte. Something’s happened.

You, uh… you love me? Yeah, I know. It was new to me, too, and I found myself talking to nina, and — and I just — I just kind of said it. And then I thought to myself, if I could say it to a mere stranger, then I should — I should probably be able… to feel comfortable enough to say it to you. So I did. I said to you, and I said it. I love you. I did it. I love you.

[ Laughs ] Ahh! Don’t — don’t — please don’t feel like you have to say it back to me just because I said it. No, I don’T. Look. There’s no… there’s no pressure to say anything. I’ve wanted to say this for a while, sam. I love you. You do? Yeah. Well, I’m glad that, uh, you were thinking clearly enough for both of us. I should go. Hmm. Um, thank you. Thank you for talking to me. Anytime. Anytime you ever want to talk or just hang out and think about anything else. I’m going to hold you to that. I have a lot of regrets about what happened tonight — what went down and… what carly saw and… what I said to her. But I realize that carly had a point. About what? What happened between us in nixon falls in the past… it’s not just the past. It’s in the here and now. No matter how much I try to deny it…

[ Sighs ] I gotta — I gotta —

[ Sighs ] I gotta see dante. Yeah. Alright. What’s happened to charlotte? She’s been staying with us, but when esme came home, she found a pizza delivery man unconscious in the hallway, but no charlotte. No! It’s peter, isn’t it?! It has to be! Son of a bitch! Police have been notified. Ok, so what — what is the timeframe? How long has she been missing? Charlotte: Grandma! Oh, my god. Charlotte?! I ordered pizza, but when I opened the door, someone grabbed me! Oh, sweetheart! Charlotte, look who’s here.

[ Shouts ] Are you hurt? I’m fine, come here. Let me look at you. Are you hurt? No, they locked me in a building, and I was trying to get out when someone saved me. Anna: Who? Who, dear? Grandpa victor! I didn’t think going after brook lynn would end up like this. How could you? You didn’t know the truth about bailey. And eventually, maxie will understand. Don’t come to me expecting sympathy. I’m fresh out of it. Now we all must come together to clean up your mess and make sure maxie’s baby is brought home safely. And when this is all over, you will answer to me. Maxie, I’m so glad you came. Louise, honey, it’s ok. If you want to see our daughter, it’s gonna be on my terms now. And what are those? I’m leaving the country with louise, maxie, so I want you to say goodbye to her here and now, knowing you’ll never see her again. Or… …you come with us, and we’ll be a family forever.
