Ashley: So, the deal is done. Tucker took the bait. He bought me out of glacade. What do we do next?

Jack: Next, we deliver the first blow of the one-two punch. Everything is ready. I went ahead and made the one change kyle asked for.

Ashley: That was the right thing to do. I mean, the only person that should be affected by this is tucker. Nobody else.

Jack: Once I push send, this damning information is going to go out to every major news outlet in the world.

Ashley: It’s a story that tucker does not want out there. Jack, when this whole thing happened, he was off the grid. Then, he covered it up, in spite of his enlightenment.

Jack: This is exactly the kind of thing that will destroy his credibility.

Ashley: I know. It’s a public relations nightmare. He could have gotten in front of this when it was uncovered. I think that his ego got in the way and it made him think that he couldn’t be touched by it and he’s going to find out soon enough how wrong he was. You know, it’s just ironic. I had so many hopes for glacade and so many hopes for tucker and me and the whole thing has just blown up right in my face.

Jack: Are you sure you’re still ready to go ahead with this?

Ashley: Yes, I am, jack. I’ve done everything we’ve discussed.

Jack: I’m just saying it might not be easy. I know the two of you have history. The two of you have had a number of run-ins recently.

Ashley: Yeah. Do you have a point you’re trying to make with me?

Jack: Once I push send there is no turning back. Tucker’s professional life will go up in flames. You having any second thoughts?

Billy: Thank you. Well, it’s official. Congratulations are in order. I am no longer at jabot. I am now officially at chancellor-winters, starting after the break.

Chelsea: And in record time. I will say, when you set your mind to something, you really make it happen.

Billy: It’s the right thing to do. There’s no time to waste. Lily’s visiting mattie. Devon and jill need my help, so time to hit the ground running.

Chelsea: So, what happens when lily comes back? You two were a leadership team before.

Billy: We were. Yeah, we did some good things in the business world. But honestly, right now, I’m not looking for answers. My priority is making sure that devon and my mom are supported and that tucker doesn’t make a move for the company.

Chelsea: Well, you are the ultimate defender and protector. I’ve seen it firsthand and it’s wonderful.

Billy: I’m not on my own. Did I mention that nate is back as well?

Chelsea: They’re letting him come back to chancellor-winters?

Billy: Mm-hmm. Almost stabbed his family in the back, but all is forgiven. He’s got a pinky swear that he won’t sabotage the company again, but…

Chelsea: Well. Well, listen, we’ve all screwed up. We’ve all needed second chances.

Billy: Can I steal some of that kindness and understanding, please?

Chelsea: Yes. It’s all yours.

Billy: Mm. Good. Because I could spread a little bit of that to chance. My mother recruited chance. We both thought it would be a good idea for me to mentor him for a little while. He is not very thrilled about it.

Chelsea: Why? Chance has zero track record in business. He’d be lucky to have your wisdom and support.

Billy: That’s exactly what I said, but apparently, he’d rather have it from someone who hasn’t burned so many bridges.

Chelsea: You have a great track record.

Billy: A bunch of businesses and a bunch of positions, I think that’s what he said. To be honest, I couldn’t really argue with him.

Chelsea: Who wants to stay at the same place all the time? It’s boring.

Billy: You’re such a protector, such a defender.

Chelsea: I don’t know.

Billy: No, you are. And I appreciate it.

Chelsea: Well, to be honest with you, I’m a little worried about this job change. I would just– I would hate if I encouraged you to do something that you’re going to end up regretting.

Audra: Hey.

Kyle: Hey.

Audra: Kyle, you actually made it.

Kyle: Yeah, I came as soon as I could.

Audra: Yeah. After you took a while answering my texts. I wonder if you were having second thoughts about our plan again?

Kyle: Not again. Always.

Audra: Well, listen, I confronted tucker about not being upfront about his plan and he swore to me that he would never leave me hanging out in the cold, so he fully intends for me to run jabot after the takeover.

Kyle: Yeah, but that doesn’t mean it’s a sure thing.

Audra: Have little faith, kyle. We will both profit from this. We are so close to success.

Kyle: No. Audra, it’s not about faith. Something is about to go down. Something huge.

Victor: There we go. Wasn’t I right?

Nikki: Um, about what?

Victor: About this place, baby? This is a wonderful place for us to relax and forget about all our troubles.

Nikki: Yes. Yes, a lovely idea. But I need to use the ladies’ room. Will you excuse me for a minute?

Victor: Sure. I’ll get us some drinks, okay?

Victoria: Claire? Why? Why– why– why are you doing this? Why are you pretending that claire is my baby eve all grown up? Yeah,we love our house, but the cost

Ashley: You keep asking me if I’m having second thoughts. I’m starting to wonder if you’re looking for a reason not to take the next step.

Jack: There is not a single doubt in my mind that this should happen and you know that. Which makes me wonder if this– this accusation is just the next deflection.

Ashley: I’m not having second thoughts. I’m not. I do pity tucker. He would hate to hear me say that, but I– I do, I have pity for him. You know, I mean, he’s about to lose everything and it doesn’t mean that I’m having a change of heart. Our father built jabot from the ground up, right? He based it on ethical and honorable principles. If tucker somehow had gotten his hands on jabot, then we would have been faced with having to watch him destroy our father’s legacy. I’m not going to let it happen.

Jack: I am glad to hear that.

Ashley: But it doesn’t mean I’m going to gloat, jack, okay? Because people I care about are affected by this. I mean, not abby so much because she– she hates tucker, but I mean, he’s devon’s father. He’s– he’s dominic’s grandpa. And dominic loves him and I hate to see what this is gonna do to them.

Jack: Believe me, devon has some idea of who his father is. He might already suspect this whole–

Ashley: No, he doesn’T. He would never let something like this slide and abby hasn’t said a word. They don’t know.

Jack: Okay. This is tucker’s mess to clean up.

Ashley: I know.

Jack: He’s a bastard as an executive. He’s a bastard as a husband. If he wants to be better as a father and a grandfather, he can plead his case. As far as the business world goes though.

Ashley: Well, thankfully he can’t do anything to hurt jabot anymore, right?

Jack: Right. So, are you ready to go through with this?

Ashley: If he just left us alone, we wouldn’t have to do any of this. He only has himself to blame. Do it. Go on.

Billy: Look at you, trying to protect me like I’m a new kid at school.

Chelsea: I just– I feel like there are already obstacles at chancellor-winters before you’ve even gone back there.

Billy: Chance and nate aren’t gonna be a problem. And after officially leaving jabot and having a very difficult, but important conversation with jack, I feel like a weight’s been lifted off my shoulders. Bittersweet, yeah. But a relief.

Chelsea: Well, your family’s company is important to you. For good reason.

Billy: It is. You know, when jack hired me back at jabot this last time, I felt like it was the right place to be. It felt like– it felt like I was home, you know, to honor my father and step up.

Chelsea: Yeah. And then, I encouraged you to leave.

Billy: You are a woman of insight and vision. I am late to that curve. It got too much, you know, trying to protect the job. Trying to hold on to it. Kyle shows up and he wants it back. You know, I always felt like diane was a threat. You add tucker on top of that and it just, you know, it got too much for me.

Chelsea: You were trying to protect your father’s legacy. No one would judge you for that.

Billy: It wasn’t always about jabot, to be honest. It was about me wanting to be a hero. You know, get the credit. Prove that I can be the savior for jabot and it doesn’t always have to be jack. I wanted to make sure that my father was proud of me as he watches down over me because I don’t think I ever achieved that while he was alive.

Chelsea: And now you’re going back to chancellor-winters to help your mom.

Billy: Yeah, she made it very clear it’s time to step into the breach. And no one says no to jill abbott. Not and live to tell the tale.

Chelsea: And you want to protect her legacy from tucker. But billy, isn’t it the same kind of addictive rush as at jabot? I mean, how is it any different?

Victoria: Oh, um. Is that dinner for claire grace? I’m victoria newman. I’m actually on the visitor’s list. Um, is she in a group therapy meeting or some other meeting?

Nurse: Nothing else is scheduled at dinner time.

Victoria: I need to speak with someone in security.

Victor: Thank you.

Nate: Nikki?

Nikki: Nate.

Nate: Um, what are you doing?

Nikki: I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m amber, I’ve lost 128 pounds with golo,

Jack: There’s no turning back now.

Ashley: Tucker’s dirty little secret is about to become international news.

Jack: Anyone involved with glacade is either going to abandon ship or they’re going to band together and drive tucker out. Tucker mccall and his brand are about to flatline.

Audra: You know, since when do you get worked up like this? What exactly is about to go down?

Kyle: The– the– the mccall scandal. The cover-up about the singer having sex with underage girls. Look, it’s about to be all over the news if it isn’t already.

Audra: No. This was supposed to be a nonissue. You know, we can talk to your family. We can work it out, but we have to stop this right now.

Kyle: No, audra. It’s probably too late for that. I begged my dad to kill the story or at least delay the release, but there was nothing I could say. He knew that tucker was targeting jabot, so it was a preemptive attack.

Audra: There has to be something you can do to stop this.

Kyle: No. It’s too late. I said everything I could without tipping my hand. What was I supposed to say? “Don’t go after tucker because you’ll tank my future job plans?” Look, tucker did this to himself, and to you.

Audra: You’re not understanding me. This can’t get out. Not now and not ever. I have worked way too damn long and hard to go down like this. Oh, my god.

Kyle: Well, you might be all right.

Audra: I might? Is that supposed to reassure me?

Kyle: I– I begged my dad to keep you out of it.

Audra: Oh, you did, huh?

Kyle: Of course, I did. Look, I told you, I’m on your side.

Audra: Yeah, but there’s no telling what’s gonna happen when someone starts digging. I gotta warn tucker.

Kyle: No. Tucker had months to do damage control. If he does anything now, it’ll look desperate and guilty.

Audra: Tucker was right, wasn’t he?

Kyle: About what?

Audra: You. You didn’t even try to stop jack at all, did you? You know, or maybe you knew all along? You were part of the plan. You kept me busy and distracted while jack set things in motion. Just tell the truth, kyle. You were just using me, weren’t you?

Tucker: “To the newly admitted staff of glacade, welcome aboard the most exciting journey of your career. You are about to embark on an amazing adventure as we build the next great company of the 21st century.” What? Son of a bitch.

Nate: Nikki, wait.

Nikki: What is it, nate?

Nate: Can we talk?

Nikki: What do we have to talk about?

Nate: You took a drink from that flask you pulled out of your purse. And then you popped some mints to cover up the smell of alcohol.

Nikki: Wow. Making things up again, are you? You’re attacking me because you couldn’t get anywhere with victor. You know, that’s a terrible accusation. You should know better. But if you dare try to spread that lie to victoria or anybody–

Nate: Nikki, I am not judging you. I am speaking to you as someone who cares, okay? How long have you been off the wagon?

Nikki: Okay. First of all, you are mistaken. And second of all, it’s none of your damn business. You were fired, remember that? So, whatever goes on in our family is none of your concern.

Nate: Whatever happened at newman enterprises, I am still a doctor. I still care about the health of people around me. Alcoholism is a disease. Insidious and potentially deadly. Help and treatment are the only way, nikki.

Nikki: You know, I don’t have to stand here and be lectured by you.

Nate: But you’ve been doing so well for so long. If something happened to–

Nikki: Do I have to call security because I will?

Nate: Look, I heard you suffered some sort of seizure. Are you having an M.S. Recurrence? Because if that triggered a relapse–

Nikki: Will you leave me alone?

Nate: Nikki, listen. Maybe you think you have this under control?

Nikki: Just leave me alone. I told you already. How many times do I have to say it? You stay out of my life. Got that?

Victoria: Have you seen, uh, a strange woman in this facility? She’s caucasian, 5’6. Um, short, dark hair, maybe in her 60s. She might have tried to slip in looking like a nurse.

Guard: There was someone I saw earlier that I thought was a new hire, but she had a badge and blonde hair.

Victoria: Oh, my god. That was probably a wig. Listen, this woman is extremely dangerous and she’s wanted by the police. We have to find her immediately. And the– the young woman that’s probably with her.

Nate: Victor. I apologize for interrupting, but there’s something we need to discuss.

Victor: You are interrupting. I think I’ve said everything to you that needs to be said.

You can feel it…

Victoria: Cole, I’m at the hospital.

Cole: Hey, how’s claire?

Victoria: I don’t know. She seems to be missing and nobody knows where she is. And it gets worse. I found a bracelet on her pillow. It looked exactly like the one that jordan was wearing at the lake house.

Cole: Wait, wait. Are you sure?

Victoria: I think that jordan, she must have snuck in here disguised as a nurse. Just like she did the first time when she took claire from us.

Cole: Slipped in past security and out again with a patient?

Victoria: I knew she wasn’t done with us. Cole, she has our daughter. I just know it. And she’s so vulnerable and she’s so scared. Hold on a second. Did you find them?

Guard: Security footage shows the blonde woman exiting with a patient in a wheelchair.

Victoria: Oh, my god. Did you hear that?

Cole: Yes. Yes. I’m on my way.

Nate: Look, I understand you don’t want to speak with me, but this is pretty important.

Victor: You here to try to convince me to give you a second chance? Ain’t gonna happen.

Nate: This isn’t about newman.

Victor: Then you and I have nothing to talk about.

Nate: Victor. Vic, please. Look, hear me out. I heard victoria and your family went through something pretty traumatic recently.

Victor: How the hell did you hear about that?

Nate: And that nikki suffered some sort of seizure?

Victor: How did you hear about that?

Nate: I don’t know any of the details, but if it’s true, I’m sorry to hear it. I just hope it hasn’t pushed any of you into a troubling situation.

Victor: What are you fishing for?

Nate: Victor, I’m not fishing for anything.

Victor: If someone betrays me, I will not forgive it.

Nate: Victor, you’re not hearing me. This is not about me wanting another chance at newman. And for the record, I never tried to betray you.

Victor: I used to respect you, nate. Anyone who gets a medical degree, I take my hat off for that. Okay? But you had ulterior motives. It didn’t work out. I caught you. End of story.

Audra: Tucker, you have to get back to me asap. It’s time to gather forces. You know, I thought I could trust you, kyle. You convinced me that you wanted to be on our team. You know, I don’t know what I was thinking.

Kyle: No. That was not the case at all, audra. This wasn’t a betrayal.

Audra: Oh, okay. Then why didn’t you at least warn us this was coming? That’s the least you could have done.

Kyle: What I did was convince my dad to redact your name from all of the emails. Then, I came to warn you.

Audra: So, you didn’t know about any of this until today?

Kyle: Of course not. I’m the ingrate, entitled son who let his father down, remember? Look, my father kept it from me. Just like he’s keeping all the important things from me right now.

Audra: Right. Sure. You know, I’m sure living at that house, you had no idea your father was about to detonate a bomb. You don’t seriously expect me to believe that, kyle, do you?

Kyle: You think I want this? My father doesn’t trust me. He shoved me out of jabot and is keeping secrets. That’s why I threw in with you and tucker. Because my father has turned his back on me as a potential leader at jabot. My path to promotion was through you. I was counting on it.

Audra: Well, you evidently bet wrong. Tucker is gonna go ballistic. You know, I have been with him for years and I have bet my entire career on this and now it’s over.

Kyle: Maybe it doesn’t have to be.

Audra: Oh, be serious, kyle. Your father did not expose that story because it’s harmless. It’s gonna destroy tucker’s reputation and his connection to glacade. Without glacade, we can’t take on jabot. So, there’s nothing left for you or me.

Kyle: Slow down. There may still be a way to pull this off.

Audra: How kyle?

Kyle: Just trust me.

Audra: Oh, yeah, I should do that.

Kyle: I’ve come up with the perfect product that glacade can steal from jabot.

Audra: And what good will that do us when we don’t have a company that can use it?

Jack: Whoa, whoa. Slow down.

Tucker: Hey, jack. Nice to see you.

Jack: Tucker. What brings you by?

Tucker: You’ve been waiting. Counting the minutes so you could use this information. You finally found the perfect op– this move, coming from him, I could have predicted that. That’s inevitable. But from you… I… I never expected this from you.

Billy: Staying at jabot to protect the company for my siblings or going to chancellor-winters to support my mom, the difference there is easy. It’s jack.

Chelsea: He’s that big a figure in your life, isn’t he?

Billy: There’s a lot of baggage that comes with it. But look, moving on to my new/old company, it’s– it’s the right thing to do. And maybe I’m being too overly confident. Maybe battling tucker from a new front will still ignite the obsessive flames.

Chelsea: If that happens, will you talk about it?

Billy: With you? Absolutely. I don’t think it will. But there is one question that still haunts me.

Chelsea: And what’s that?

Billy: What is my legacy? You know, what do I leave behind when it’s all said and done? Where is it? What is it? Even after you’ve so beautifully helped me come to these revelations, I still can’t answer the one basic, but profound question of one’s life. I– you know, what’s my purpose?

Jack: Face it, tucker. You are done. You have been effectively cut off at the knees.

Tucker: I guess you and I have a different definition of civility. ‘Cause I thought we agreed to not let our separation turn into a war? But if that’s what you want, sweetheart, you’ve got it. Oh, and jack, I’m not done. Not by a long shot.

Victoria: Cole.

Cole: Hey. I got here as fast as I could. Any word on claire?

Victoria: No. I’ve already alerted the hospital security. I’ve called the police. My father’s team is involved.

Cole: Why would jordan even risk coming in here to take claire?

Victoria: Who knows? Why does that woman do anything that she does?

Cole: How was she able to sneak her out of here?

Victoria: Apparently, she had her in a wheelchair wrapped in a blanket, transported her over to the main hospital, where security is supposedly less stringent.

Cole: Yeah. Where she’s had the practice and the viciousness too. I mean, the thought of her manipulating claire again. Emotionally torturing her.

Victoria: Claire’s already so broken. And we weren’t there to protect her once again. What is this gonna do to her?

Cole: Vic, listen, we can’t think like that, all right? We’re going to find our daughter. We’re gonna find claire.

Nate: Once again, you’re wrong. But I’ll say it again. I had no ulterior motives. My only concern was your health. Look, I swore an oath to use my medical knowledge to provide advice and encouragement to sustain the health of others, so no matter where I work or– or what my job title is, protecting well-being is my first instinct.

Victor: Then why the hell don’t you follow your first instinct and return to medicine, okay? But leave my family alone.

Nate: Ironically, that’s exactly what I’m trying to do when I suggest you keep an eye on nikki. Whatever trauma your family went through may have affected her more profoundly than she’s letting on.

Victor: What are you implying?

Nate: I have reason to believe nikki might be drinking again.

[ Victor sighing ] I love that my daughter still needs me. What is cirkul? Cirkul is the fuel you need to take flight. Cirkul is the energy that gets you to the next level. Cirkul is what you hope for when life tosses lemons your way. Cirkul. It’s your water, your way. Febreze!

Chelsea: Was it me? Did I push you into a deep hole of introspection and regret?

Billy: Even if you did, would that be so bad? I mean, you help me see the big picture?

Chelsea: But, I mean, if it’s painful or confusing–

Billy: It’s neither one of those things. I mean, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? We’re supposed to find the meaning in all of this? Find our place in this big old world, you know? I mean, what are people gonna say about me when I’m gone?

Chelsea: Deep thoughts.

Billy: The deepest. Look, I am not– I’m not concerned. I’m not regretful at all. I’m honestly excited about this new chapter in my life. It’s exhilarating. It’s a rush, but it’s the right kind of rush because this is about discovery.

Chelsea: Mm. Finding your true purpose.

Billy: There you go. It’ll be a hell of a success story, right? I can see the headline already, billy abbott finds the meaning of life.

Chelsea: So, I think the lesson here is that my pushiness is really useful.

Billy: That’s exactly what it is. Don’t feel bad, okay? Because I feel great. And I want you to feel great too.

Nate: Maybe the concierge knows where she was headed? Or the valet? Nikki shouldn’t be driving. If she took the car, victor…

Victor: Nate, this goes no further than right here, you got it? And from now on, you stay out of our family’s business.

[ Phone ringing ]

Nikki: Who is this?

Jordan: Hello, nikki.

Nikki: What the hell do you want?

Jordan: Have you enjoyed our communication these past few days?

Nikki: Stop calling me.

Jordan: Does the music bring back memories? I so enjoyed discovering and sharing the wonderful poetry of edgar allan poe with you. Most appropriate, don’t you think?

Nikki: The police are looking for you. It’s only a matter of time before they find you.

Jordan: But I’ve already found you. Watching your every move. From a safe distance, of course.

Nikki: Stay away from me, you demented bitch.

Jordan: Does it sing to you, nikki? The vodka? Does it take all the sharp edges off? How does it feel when the liquor fills your veins? You should thank me. I’ve given you back something that you wanted. And you’re about to have another drink now, aren’t you, my friend?

Nikki: Yeah, I’ve been drinking. I’m drunk right now. What’s it to you?

[ Audra sighing ]

Audra: You know, I would give up and walk away, but I deserve an answer.

Tucker: If I have ever given you the impression that I don’t need you, that I appreciate you or value you, you have my most heartfelt apologies.

Audra: You know, none of that is an actual statement. You throw all these words around and they all end up being meaningless.

Tucker: You want statements. I respect very few people in this world. I respect you. I trust no one, except you. You know me. You call me out and you make this fun. I love the way your eyes light up when you’re about to go in for a kill. I love the way your brilliant mind works. I love it all, audra.

Audra: Why are you just now saying it?

Tucker: I didn’t think I needed to. There was no kyle to make you doubt me, or yourself. Gosh, I could have sworn this was my room. 353. Since when did you swipe my extra key card?

Audra: Housekeeping let me in and I convinced them I– I lost my key.

Tucker: Well, I’ll have to talk to management about that. I don’t like strange people coming into my room.

Audra: Okay. You know, I left you a few messages. Why haven’t you responded? And have you seen the internet?

Tucker: Yes, I have. Yes, I have. Have you seen the picture they’re using? Very flattering.

Audra: You know, kyle came to me to give you the heads up, only conveniently, it was a little too late.

Tucker: What a surprise.

Audra: You know, kyle swears he can still be trusted and he can still get us what we want from jabot, but I just– I don’t know about him anymore.

Tucker: Kyle is the least of our problems now that the story is out.

Audra: But it doesn’t have to be the end of the world, right? You know, maybe we can still salvage it. All we have to do now is strategize our next move. Tucker! What do you think we should do now?

Tucker: I don’t know. It’s not so simple. Jack’s not the only one who fired this volley. He’s not the only one we have to worry about.

Audra: Just don’t, tucker. Do not lose focus right now.

Tucker: Ashley sure got her revenge against me. In spades.

Kyle: I got the alert on my cell. Ah, the story is everywhere.

Jack: Another glass for my brilliant son. We are celebrating.

Ashley: Well, some of us more than others.

Jack: A toast. To the first successful step in the demise of tucker mccall.

Victoria: Dad.

Victor: What?

Victoria: Look, I tried calling you. Jordan was at the hospital.

Victor: What are you talking about?

Victoria: I don’t know. I was not there when she arrived. And she somehow snuck her way into the hospital and she took claire with her.

Victor: Did you call security?

Victoria: Yes.

Cole: We don’t know where they are.

Victor: But they couldn’t have gotten far. I’m gonna go to the ranch and be with your mother, okay?

Victoria: What? Dad is–

Victor: Darling, keep me posted.

Victoria: Is everything–

Victor: Yeah, yeah.

Jordan: The liquor makes you so much more interesting, nikki, but I need you to stay calm. Keep it together just for a little while longer.

Nikki: Stay calm for what?

Jordan: Shut up and listen to me. I have claire. You remember claire, don’t you? Your granddaughter? Victoria’s firstborn?

Nikki: No, you don’T. She’s in the hospital.

Jordan: No, she’s with me. She betrayed me. She betrayed the plan. She chose victoria over me. Me. The woman who raised her. The only person who ever loved her.

Nikki: Like you know anything about love.

Jordan: Victoria abandoned her and left her for dead, so here’s what we do. If you ever want victoria to see sweet, little claire again, we’ll have to make a little trade. Her mother for her daughter.

Jack: Oh, this– this was from luan.

Diane: Mm. Keemo’s mom.

Jack: Yeah. I was so hoping allie would be here to hang her grandmother’s ornament. I’m sorry she and noah can’t leave london and join us.

Traci: Those two. Young love, right?

Diane: Oh, I think love is nice at any age.

Jack: Yeah.

Audra: You know, kyle swears he can still be trusted and he can still get us what we want from jabot, but I just– I don’t know about him anymore.

Tucker: Kyle is the least of our problems now that the story is out.

Audra: But it doesn’t have to be the end of the world, right? You know, maybe we can still salvage it. All we have to do now is strategize our next move. Tucker! What do you think we should do now?

Victoria: Yes.

Cole: We don’t know where they are.

Victor: But they couldn’t have gotten far. I’m gonna go to the ranch and be with your mother, okay?

Victoria: Okay, thanks. Michael’s working on the paperwork. It should be ready soon.

Claire: I guess I’ll go get settled.

Victoria: Wait. Um, there’s so much to talk about. This is really a shock for us. I mean, you’re our daughter and we thought you were dead and um, I’m sure that this news, it– it must bring up some feelings for you as well.

Claire: I’m not shocked. I grew up knowing you were my parents.

Victoria: I know. I know, but you thought also that we abandoned you and that we didn’t want you and nothing could be further from the truth. I’m sorry that, um, we doubted you when you– when you told us at the lake house. It’s honestly, after everything that you and that jordan put us through, it just all seemed like a part of this big lie. It actually– it seemed impossible to believe.

Claire: What jordan and I put you through. That’s what you meant to say.

Cole: No, no. What my aunt jordan forced you to do to us.

Claire: You– you didn’t want to think a monster like me could be your kid.

Victoria: Claire, please. We thought we were gonna die.

Claire: And you might have. My aunt and I could have killed you. You never– you never would have known I was really your daughter.

Diane: Jack, how can you not be sure about giving kyle a co-ceo job now? Things are exactly the way they should be.

Jack: I have concerns.

Diane: What concerns? The only thing holding you back before was your allegiance to billy and now he has thrown that loyalty back in your face by going back to chancellor-winters.

Jack: It’s more complicated than that. I told you, billy has his reasons for going back to jill. He’s concerned that I am holding him back and maybe I am.

Diane: Oh, my god. When are you going to stop defending his actions? Billy has let you down, again. He said he wanted out, you need to replace him. And kyle isn’t just the obvious choice, he’s the only choice.

Jack: I am not going to just hand the job to kyle and I’m not sure he’s ready to take it on.

Diane: Kyle showed his humility and his commitment to jabot by accepting the coo role. Essentially a demotion, right? Well, what do you want from him?

Jack: I appreciate that kyle came back to a job that I know he thought was a lesser one, but it’s not exactly the mail room. You have to trust me on this, sweetheart. I can’t do this right now.

Tucker: Can I buy you a drink?

Phyllis: Don’t– don’t do that. Don’t look over my shoulder and read my text, creeper.

Tucker: I wasn’t reading your text. That was me offering to buy you an adult beverage.

Phyllis: That’s a lie.

Tucker: No. Cross my heart, hope to die.

Tucker: But you and I are such good friends.

Claire: How can you expect me to believe you want anything to do with me?

Victoria: My family went through hell, all right? And I’m not gonna forget that. But this dna result that shed a new light on everything, I am able to see everything from your perspective. I see that your aunt jordan manipulated you. She made you think that we wanted nothing to do with you and that we decided that you weren’t worthy of our love.

Cole: What a terrible thing to tell a child. It was a vicious lie, claire. It wasn’t true. It never was. When my aunt jordan took you from us and she raised you to believe those things, you were wanted. And you were loved.

Claire: Please don’T.

Cole: You’re asking us to tell you why we want anything to do with you. It’s because there’s more to you than what happened in that cabin.

Victoria: It’s because you told us the truth, claire. You’re our daughter. Honestly, I don’t– I don’t know what it looks like going forward for the three of us. I have no idea. It’s gonna take some time to process all of this and I’m hoping that you can get the help here to do just that. And we’re gonna be there with you the whole time. We’re not going anywhere. But in the meantime, I have to say my family is in a lot of danger. So please, claire. Please. I need your help. Please tell us where your aunt jordan is. Or tell us what she might have planned next.

Jack: If that’s the case, he does not deserve the job. Look, I’m not saying this will never happen. I’m just saying not now. We have much bigger concerns than kyle’s feelings.

Diane: All right. Could you at least have a conversation with him? You know, father to son to see how he feels about billy’s resignation before making such a huge decision.

Jack: I hear everything you’re saying and I respect and I love the way you protect our son, but we have just set in motion a major, complex offensive against tucker. We’re about to drop the hammer and everyone needs to be focused on that. That includes kyle.

Diane: Understood. But I think you need to talk to him. I think kyle has important news he needs to share with you.

Jack: What do you know that I don’t?

Victor: Baby, you look as if you’ve seen a ghost.

Nikki: Um, I– I thought I saw something outside.

Victor: You want me to call security?

Nikki: No, no, no, no, no. No, you don’t need to do that. I– I– I maybe thought it was a shadow or a tree branch or something that the wind did. It just startled me.

Victor: But my baby, you’re shaking.

Nikki: Could you get me a glass of water?

Victor: Baby, I’m worried about you, okay? I know this whole thing has been a shock to you. Shock to all of us. So, why don’t we get the hell out of here? Let’s go on vacation somewhere.

Nikki: Well, we could go on that trip that I wanted us to go on before you–

Victor: Yeah.

Nikki: You went back to newman. A suite in paris. A water villa in bali.

Victor: I love that. I love that. My baby, come here. I will protect you. I’ll be by your side at all times, all right? I don’t want you to worry about a damn thing.

Claire: I swear, I am not covering for jordan. I have no idea where she could be.

Victoria: Do you have any idea who she might turn to?

Claire: Jordan didn’t let people get too close. She always said she was alone in the world after her sister died. And I was too, so we had to depend on each other.

Victoria: She hasn’t reached out to you?

Claire: The minute I needed someone, she disappeared. No message, no show of love or support. Nothing. She always said that your family deserted me, but she’s the one who walked away. She used me like a weapon against you and then she just tossed me aside like a piece of trash.

Victoria: You do know that she’s wrong, don’t you? Do you know that’s not what you are?

Claire: Trash, a monster. Either way, I’m worthless.

Claire: Maybe not with those words. But the only person I ever trusted lied to me my entire life. Jack: Well, I’m just curious how you feel about it.

Kyle: Well, I’m more interested in how you feel about it. It sounded like you were blaming yourself for his decision. That’s typical billy. Abandoning you and jabot and then claiming it’s because of you.

Jack: I am not going to defend billy. I do think he was sincere in the soul-searching that led to that decision and I have to respect that.

Kyle: Still, I imagine it comes as a shock. He was so involved in the plan to deal with tucker.

Jack: Yes, it was a surprise. Particularly the timing.

Kyle: And disappointing.

Jack: I thought we were all a united front in dealing with tucker. And yes, I’m a little upset about being in a position that could easily be perceived as vulnerable. Playing musical chairs in the leadership of jabot. That’s what led me to my decision about the co-ceo position.

Kyle: Dad, before we get into that, there’s something I need to tell you.

Jack: Yeah, your mother suggested you do have some news to share.

Kyle: Tucker recruited me to help take over jabot. He promised audra and I would run your father’s company in exchange for the help.

Phyllis: You know, the last time I listened to one of your propositions, it did not work out great for me.

Tucker: Are you sure? Because you were able to wipe out your substantial debt. So, it seems like it worked out, at least for you.

Phyllis: Ah, that’s because I outschemed your scheme.

Tucker: Yeah. Right. That’s exactly why I think you should hear me out. So, I’m– I’m making moves to build this new company and I’m going to need a top-tier I.T. Department which of course is where you come in.

Phyllis: I already have a job. Thank you.

Tucker: Uh-huh. Working for someone who works for someone who’s the head of I.T. At… what’s it called? Omegasphere?

Phyllis: That’s not what it is exactly.

Tucker: Yeah. Well, that might be a great opportunity for some young up-and-coming tech hopeful, but hardly befits someone of your talent.

Victoria: I know what you’ve been through. What we’ve all been through for that matter. Well, it’s just gonna take some time to sort out these feelings.

Claire: I guess it’s better than a jail cell. Because I need to be kept away from all the sane, decent people of the world.

Victoria: We just want you to get better. That’s the truth. And I’m confident that the doctors are gonna help you.

Cole: Yeah. We’re gonna make sure that you get everything you need.

Victoria: Yeah.

Claire: You thought I died when I was a baby?

Victoria: We were devastated.

Claire: What would you have done back then if you found out I was still alive?

Victoria: We would have done whatever it took to find you and bring you home. Look, I know we can’t go back. I understand that. But if you want for things to get better, then they can get better.

Claire: I don’t know how to let it all go. Just so many years of hatred. Maybe I– maybe I don’t know how to feel anything else.

Cole: I don’t believe that. And neither should you.

Victoria: We’re here now. We’re right here and that’s all that matters. Look, I know that it’s not gonna be easy. I know that. But right now, the most important thing is focusing on you and helping you heal.

Nikki: Flying off to some secluded place with you is very tempting, but we can’T. We have to stay here to support victoria in everything she’s going through with claire. And– and I know that jordan is still out there. Has your team been watching the motel?

Victor: Of course, sweetheart. They haven’t– haven’t found her.

Nikki: The only reason she came to genoa city is to finish what her sister, eve, started with us. With me. And she’s not going anywhere until she gets what she wants.

Victoria: It’s michael. He wants me to meet him at the front desk to sign those papers, so I’ll be right back.

Claire: She seems so caring, kind. Not the kind of woman who’d abandoned a baby. Not the woman I grew up hating. I learned as part of jordan’s training how to read people. But you, I have no idea what you’re thinking.

Cole: Mm. Well, that makes, uh, two of us.

[ Cole sighing ] I got all kinds of crazy things running through my brain right now. And, uh, it’s a mess up there.

Claire: Makes two of us.

Cole: Yeah. I think maybe the primary feeling is guilt.

Claire: What do you have to feel guilty about?

Cole: I grew up with a mother who had mental illness.

Claire: My grandmother, eve.

Cole: Yeah. And she was pretty good about hiding it most of the time. Just enough that I’d forget about her moods. And then, she would go off on a tangent. She’d get all worked up about something that didn’t really seem like a big deal and you start to wonder whether or not it’s you that’s bringing her to this. Or is it really not a big deal? Every family has its quirks and I never wanted that kind of home life for my daughter.

Claire: Yet you named me for her?

Cole: Victoria’s idea. I agreed. You know, someone can have a lot of problems and you can still love them very much. And this whole crazy, nightmarish situation right now is because of my mother and what happened between her and victor and I hate that you had to grow up believing that you were unwanted. Because there’s nothing– there’s nothing that’s further than the truth.

Claire: I know there are no answers. But… why would I not wonder what if I had never been kidnapped? What would my life look like? What would our life look like?

Cole: We all lost so much. Too much to even think about. Hi.

Victoria: Hey. I’m sorry, they’re asking that you and I leave now so that claire can meet the staff and her doctors.

Cole: Well, uh–

Victoria: I promise you, claire. I promise they’re gonna be kind to you. Everybody wants the same thing. They want you to recover from everything that you’ve been through these past years. That’s all they want.

Cole: All right, then. I guess it’s time we go.

Victoria: Okay. Um, I’ll bring you some things by later. Would it be okay if– if I asked you for a hug?

Claire: I guess.

Jack: Tucker recruited you to betray jabot? When– when did this happen?

Kyle: A while ago.

Jack: And you’re just now telling me?

Kyle: Because I accepted his offer.

Jack: What? You’re working for him? You’re– you’re his inside person?

Kyle: Exactly. But dad, it was the only way we could see what he was up to.

Jack: It all makes sense now. That’s why you accepted the coo position. So you could keep tabs on jabot for tucker.

Kyle: No. So it would look to tucker like I was ready to be a spy.

Jack: So– so I– I’m to believe now that this was all an act on your part? That you weren’t tempted at all?

Kyle: I have been playing tucker the entire time.

Jack: You have no idea how much I want to believe that.

Kyle: Whoa. You defend billy bailing, but you suspect my motives? Dad, you can’t actually believe that I would betray you like that.

Jack: You were incensed that I sided with billy for the co-ceo position. I was surprised when you agreed to the lesser role. I thought maybe that was maturity. You can imagine, this gives me a little pause.

Kyle: Well, it shouldn’t, because it worked. I now know tucker’s plan. Type 2 diabetes?

Announcer: The young and and the restless will continue.

Jack: Why didn’t you tell me about this? You should’ve told me the moment he approached you.

Kyle: I knew you would try to talk me out of it. Or maybe not even trust me just like you aren’t trusting me now. Dad, I swear I never intended to help tucker with his coup. I saw it as a way to prove you wrong. To show you that I am worthy of the top spot. That I will always protect this family and jabot. Unlike billy.

Jack: This is a dangerous game you’re playing, son. With tucker mccall.

Kyle: I needed to wait to tell you until I had something concrete. Enough ammo to show you that this is the way to go.

Jack: And you have that ammunition now?

Kyle: Yeah. Tucker was being vague about his strategy at first, demanding some nebulous proof of loyalty. I took a risk, told him I was out unless he showed me what the plan was.

Jack: I’ll say you took a risk. That could have blown up in your face.

Kyle: But it didn’T. Tucker showed me his hand. He wants me to steal a newly developed product from jabot. He’ll fast-track replicating it and then launch it first.

Jack: Hardly the stuff of a major coup.

Kyle: Dad, that’s just step one. Step two is framing a member of the family as the jabot mole. He claimed it’ll be billy or mom.

Jack: But you don’t believe that?

Kyle: No. He’s gonna pin it on me. I’m certain of it.

[ Jack sighing ] Dad– dad I did this for you, for jabot. I swear.

Jack: Who knows what else tucker might have planned to undercut jabot if you hadn’t gained his trust? I’m glad it was you. And you’re right. You just saved us from another tucker mccall double-cross.

Phyllis: Well, I am flattered that, um, you see what I have to offer.

Tucker: Anyone who doesn’t is a fool.

Phyllis: I’m also astounded that you’re doing this. Why are you doing this? I made it clear we don’t like each other. I mean, I’ve certainly made it clear that I hate you.

Tucker: Crystal.

Phyllis: Okay. And why would you trust someone like me?

Tucker: So my philosophy is you hire the best no matter what. Even if you think they’re gonna stab you in the back.

Phyllis: How exactly does that work?

Tucker: Let’s say, for the sake of example, that you were to accept my offer. The fact that I would always be wondering when and if you’re gonna screw me over would keep me on my toes and therefore I would deliver the best results to my company.

Victoria: You know, I, uh, I can’t help but wonder if some of your silence is due to the fact that you’re still angry at claire for helping her aunt jordan and maybe some of that anger is keeping you from being able to feel other things.

Cole: No, no, no. I won’t lay blame on her. She was raised to hate and to hurt us. I mean, she wasn’t– she wasn’t born with this hatred. She’s been jordan’s victim since the day she was born.

Victoria: Well, okay then. Well, maybe I’m the one that’s holding on to my anger.

Cole: No, no, no. You got to know her as claire before you found out she was baby eve, all grown up. You got lured in. You watched her and jordan nearly kill your whole family.

Victoria: But she’s just– she’s in so much pain. And she’s been that way for so many years. That troubled young woman is our daughter. Jordan is pure evil and she needs to be held responsible for everything that she did to us. Claire included. (Man) mm, hey, honey.

Kyle: Dad, not telling you all this sooner was the hardest part.

Jack: You’re sure he’s not on to you? That he he still thinks you’re loyal?

Kyle: Oh, I’m convinced. I sold him that fact. Dad, you’re right. My anger was real when you didn’t give me my old job back. And tucker sensed it, that’s why he tried to enlist me. But it worked in my favor. And tucker underestimated one thing.

Jack: What’s that?

Kyle: What it means to be your son. When he told me he was going after jabot, everything fell into place. My perspective shifted. I realized I’ve been selfish and that family means everything to me.

Jack: Tucker never knew what he was up against when he was dealing with the abbotts. I cannot believe he’d want to steal one of our products.

Kyle: Oh, no. We should let him.

Jack: Explain that.

Kyle: Tucker trusts me. So, let’s use it. Turn his plan to our advantage.

Jack: Go on.

Kyle: Okay. I give tucker a product. I mean, not a real product or you know, something we’ve shelved for whatever reason. We let them break the bank trying to replicate it. Then, we nail him for corporate theft.

Jack: That, plus releasing the news of his role in mccall’s scandal and cover-up will destroy any chance he has of a fresh start at glacade.

Kyle: Oh, we won’t just ruin his new business. We will destroy his reputation in the corporate world. Tucker mccall’s career and credibility will be over.

Phyllis: Surrounding yourself with backstabbers. It’s not very smart. It’s not good business. It’s not logical. It’s not very tucker mccall.

Tucker: It’s worked for me so far. So, what do you say? You want in on the ground floor?

Phyllis: I wouldn’t work for you if you were the last guy on the planet.

Tucker: Hm.

Phyllis: How many years salary is that?

Tucker: One.

Phyllis: That’s one year salary?

Tucker: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Well, ’tis the season. So, what’s going on? What are you up to?

Victoria: Oh, my parents are here. I’m too exhausted to have them join us. Would you just back me, please?

Nikki: Oh, victoria, I’m so relieved to see you. I’ve been trying to reach you.

Victoria: Yeah. We were at the hospital. We were getting claire settled.

Victor: Oh, how did that go?

Victoria: She seemed really scared and vulnerable.

Cole: Uh, victor. Any updates on the hunt for my aunt?

Victor: No, cole. Not so far, but I promise you, she will be found and she will be brought to justice.

Nikki: Your father’s taking me out to dinner so we can get our minds off of it for a bit. Would you like to join us? Or, we could go back to the ranch if you’d like?

Victoria: Oh, thank you, mom. Really. But cole and I could use a little more time alone to process everything if you don’t mind.

Nikki: No, of course.

Victoria: And dad’s right. You should enjoy a nice meal. You know, put aside some of the drama from the last couple of days.

[Coughing]

Nikki: Are you sure you don’t want to go back to the ranch?

Victoria: Mom, like I said. No, thank you.

Victor: Come, my sweetheart. Table is waiting for us. Nice to see both of you.

Cole: Nice to see you as well.

Nikki: If you need anything.

Victoria: Yes, you’ll be my first call.

Cole: They sure do love you.

Victoria: Uh, yeah. Sometimes, a little too much.

Cole: Oh, is that a thing?

Victoria: What I mean is sometimes they just are a little over-involved.

Cole: Yeah. Well, I don’t know. But you know, I have to say, seeing your parents again after all of these years, and– and under the stressful circumstances. I’m just really touched by how concerned and attentive they are. I guess that’s how a real family works.

Kyle: So, what’s next?

Jack: I told you I had made a decision about the co-ceo role. That was 30 minutes ago and I had decided against giving it to you.

Kyle: And now?

Tucker: And now because of you, we know how tucker is coming after us and it has made me reconsider. Keep in mind though, if we stick with your plan, tucker has to believe that you’re still striving for the top. You can’t have the job yet. Yeah, it has to look like you’re ready to turn your own family for it.

Kyle: So, no promotion. Billy left, but I’m still out in the cold.

Jack: Yeah. That’s the way we have to play it, for now. You keep up your act. The information about mccall’s scandal is ready to go. It is the first punch. I guarantee it will knock the wind out of him. While he’s doubled over, we will set him up for corporate theft.

Kyle: It’s a perfect one-two punch.

Jack: And we take tucker mccall out for good.

Tucker: I’m about to acquire a very sensitive and lucrative new product for my company and I need an internet security system. Firewalls around firewalls. Of course, when I hear the word firewall, I think phyllis.

Phyllis: I’m gonna take that as a compliment.

Tucker: You should. And by the way, that figure, that’s just the starting point.

Phyllis: Oh, well, I mean, I would never take the first offer. I would have to negotiate, you know. People never offer what they’re really willing to pay and that is from my self-help book. Um, how to build a firewall, phyllis summers.

Tucker: Yeah. Very good. Think about it. You know, where I’ll be.

Cole: I mean, I’m not really sure how I feel about it yet. Or what I think of all of this.

Victoria: I know. It– it’s– it’s been a shock, but we have to make some decisions. Look, I know that you have a life and you have a career outside of genoa city. I know that you were in L.A. Researching a new book.

Cole: Yeah. But this has obviously thrown a big wrench into that.

Victoria: Well, yeah.

Cole: Actually, I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying right here in genoa city.

Tucker: Ah. I almost didn’t recognize you without lover boy at your heels.

Audra: You know, I’ll admit, I underestimated kyle, but I know better now.

Tucker: I don’t think it’s possible to underestimate kyle.

Audra: He can see what you’re up to. He can see right through your scheme.

Tucker: Mm. What am I up to exactly?

Audra: Well, you thought he believed your idea to blame billy or diane for selling jabot cosmetics formulas. But kyle is convinced you’re setting him up to take the fall.

Tucker: Yeah. It’s an interesting thought, isn’t it?

Audra: Well, is it true? Is kyle right about you?

Diane: So, tell me, where do things stand with tucker?

Kyle: Well, I managed to find out more of his plan.

Diane: Already? Well, that’s good. But maybe it’s not good. Do you think it’s too fast? What if he’s on to you?

Kyle: He’s not. I would know. Everything’s happening according to plan.

Diane: Well, what is that plan?

Kyle: He wants to hammer at jabot’s profits. But he wants to make it personal too, to get back at ashley and dad and everyone else. And he wants someone to take the fall. But tucker hasn’t decided who it’s gonna be. Billy or you?

Billy: It’s quiet around here. Did everybody take off for work already?

Jack: Yeah. Diane and kyle went out for breakfast.

Billy: Breakfast? When they’ve got mrs. Martinez’s legendary omelets being made right through that door?

Jack: I think they’re up to something.

Billy: Uh-oh. What could that be?

Jack: Yeah. Christmas. Maybe a coup. Who knows?

Billy: Keep up that good spirit cheer, jack.

Jack: There’s nothing ominous sounding about that.

Billy: This isn’t gonna be easy to say.

Jack: Wait. This gets more serious?

Billy: I’m leaving jabot.

Victoria: Mom?

Nikki: In here, sweetheart.

Cole: Hey, good morning, nikki.

Victoria: How are you?

Nikki: Oh, don’t worry about me. My mind has been on you and cole. What you must be going through waiting for the results of claire’s dna test.

Victoria: Just trying not to think too far ahead.

Nikki: Of course. Do you have any idea how much longer you have to wait?

Cole: Yeah. We’re gonna hear something today. And then, we’ll know for certain just how deep jordan’s lies went.

Michael: I was hoping to find you all here.

Cole: Hey, michael.

Victoria: Michael. I thought you were in oregon?

Michael: I just got back. I wanted to give you an update and it’s best you hear this face-to-face.

Victoria: Well, what did you find out? Will claire be released? (Smelling)

Tucker: Why do you care if kyle’s the one who takes the fall?

Audra: I asked you a question about your plan and you’re making assumptions about my feelings. Just focus, please. Was any of it true? The plan you laid out for kyle.

Tucker: Not a word. But he’ll go back to jack, tell him the whole story. Hey, you need to focus. You need to remember the goal, please. The goal is us on top. How we get there matters not.

Audra: You know, kyle thinks you’re setting him up. That you’re willing to make him look like the bad abbott and then hang him out to dry. You know, even I don’t have the skill to make him go along with a plan that leaves him with nothing.

Tucker: Now, you’re the one making assumptions. You don’t know all the details of the plan, do you?

Audra: You’re right. I don’T. But I do know this, that kyle is not gonna go through with it.

Tucker: Okay, so he can’t be trusted. So, he doesn’t want the keys to the kingdom. You can’t make up your mind about him, can you?

Audra: You know, kyle was on board before you revealed your hand.

Tucker: Well, maybe that was the plan. Maybe that was the– the test. Where is this sudden lack of faith coming from? Hm? Yeah. You really let this kid under your skin, haven’t you?

Audra: It’s a mistake to keep calling him a kid and implying he’s naive, okay? It makes it all more obvious you’re just gonna use him and toss him away. You know, and I have to wonder… do you have the same fate planned for me?

Tucker: Ah, I thought you knew me better than that.

Audra: Which is why I’m asking. What guarantee do I have that I won’t suffer a similar fate?

Tucker: You can’t trust him, audra. He’s an abbott. And uh, we’re us, we’re the team. And if you let him come between us, hm. His future is with that family of his. And yours is with me.

Diane: Tucker wants me to take the fall? I don’t know whether to feel honored or angry.

Kyle: Mom, don’t get ahead of yourself. The race for the worst abbott is between you and billy.

Diane: Oh, well, that’s a relief. So, what are the details?

Kyle: Tucker wants me to get my hands on the newest jabot product before it goes to market. He passes it off to the lab at glacade. They replicate it and suddenly, without lifting a finger, he has a flagship perfume.

Diane: And in doing so, jabot is left with a cheap imposter.

Kyle: And you can imagine how dad will react after all the work and time and money invested on it.

Diane: He’ll be furious.

Kyle: And he’ll immediately start looking for a leak.

Diane: Yeah. There it is.

Kyle: The idea is that he will find evidence that I have secretly planted that leads him to you or billy?

Diane: Wow. It takes a special kind of perversity to force a son to blame his own mother.

Kyle: Well, that’s the story he was trying to sell. But I’m not convinced that billy’s the target or you. Mom, I think he’s gonna pin it on me.

Diane: You? Why?

Kyle: I’m an abbott. He wants the pleasure of beating all of us.

Diane: Tucker is a creep. And he uses cheap tricks and he’s got a million of them. Unlike your father, who is a man of integrity.

Kyle: Who has no idea what I’ve been up to.

Diane: Until today. Now is the moment kyle. It’s time to tell jack everything.

Jack: Billy, you fought tooth and nail for this job. You battled with kyle for how long?

Billy: Yeah. No. I mean, that was before my mother gave me the opportunity to join her at chancellor-winters.

Jack: And you turned her down.

Billy: Well, I’ve had some time to think about it.

Jack: Well, rethink it. You belong at jabot. I won’t let this happen.

Billy: You gonna force me to stay, jack?

Jack: That’s right. Unless you give me a damn good reason to let you go.

Billy: You’re not gonna force me to stay because you know just as well as I do that there’s somewhere else that I should be. You only kept me around because you were worried that I was gonna spiral out of control if and when you cut me loose.

Jack: I don’t give leadership positions at jabot out of pity. Too many livelihoods depend on our family’s company.

Billy: Maybe not pity, but you can’t honestly say that you didn’t think about what would happen if I got dumped from jabot. And jack, trust me, I get the instinct, I do. But I have finally realized that being at jabot isn’t good for me. Especially not now. Not with this war with tucker. It’s too much of a rush. Too much adrenaline. Too much– too much bluffing. You know, too much win at all costs.

Jack: Too much like a gambler’s high.

Billy: It’s like being on a winning streak. Or a losing streak with all that pressure on the next move.

Jack: And you’ve worked too hard to get your life back.

Billy: Hope you can understand?

Jack: Come on, I’d be tone-deaf. I’d be absolutely selfish if I didn’t when you explain your reasoning that way. I–

Billy: Thank you. It means a lot.

Jack: Could I ask one question? If you’re just gonna change horses and go to chancellor-winters, it’s– it’s the same game there. I mean, the stakes are just as high. What changes?

Billy: You.

Michael: I, uh, managed to convince claire to plead guilty by reason of insanity. I asked that she be remanded to a medical facility, as opposed to a prison.

Victoria: Well, that’s good. You know, at least she’ll get some real treatment and some care.

Michael: All of which could ostensibly be accomplished in the psych ward at genoa city memorial.

Nikki: Do you think that that’s the right thing to do? Bring her all the way here? The last thing she needs in her life is more upheaval and it could disrupt her recovery.

Victoria: Mama, it sounds like you’re making excuses that you don’t believe and I know that you’re doing it to protect me, but this is the right move. It’s– it’s better to have claire close by. Away from all of those old memories.

Nikki: What if jordan comes out of hiding looking for her?

Victoria: Mom, you know that dad is gonna do everything that he can do to protect you. Whatever it takes. I mean, we’re in this together, all of us, okay?

Victor: Oh, my goodness. Hello, everyone.

Michael: Victor.

Cole: Good morning, victor.

Nikki: Hi, darling.

Victor: Hi, my sweetheart.

Cole: Is there any word on my aunt jordan yet?

Victor: Unfortunately not, no. The woman has not returned to her motel room to pick up her belongings.

Michael: She’s probably still nearby.

Victor: I certainly hope so.

Cole: But you have your doubts?

Victor: Yeah. Something is very fishy. It was very obvious in the way she left her things for all of us to discover in that room.

[ Phone ringing ]

Michael: Oh, I’m so sorry. Blue lake courthouse. This could be the news we’re waiting for.

Victor: Why don’t you go to the library, okay? Take the call.

Michael: Yes. Michael baldwin.

Victor: My sweet baby. What’s wrong? We used to struggle with greasy messes.

Billy: This is my moment to move on.

Jack: And exactly how am I the reason?

Billy: I always wanted to beat you. I always wanted to win. Nothing, you know, nothing crazy. Nothing too overt, but I– I– I just always have this nagging feeling that I’m never gonna impress you. I’m never gonna, you know, live up to that standard. And in a way, it’s like that feeling when I’m sitting at the table and I’m trying to take down the house. Especially now with all this tucker stuff, you know, it’s, uh– trust me, I wanted to take down tucker, but most of that was because I wanted to prove that I could top you.

Jack: And by going to chancellor-winters you–

Billy: I take the pressure off. I get rid of the rush. And, you know, I get to work with my mother, which is– which is great. And chance now that he’s, uh, leaving the force.

Jack: Well, I guess there’s a lot I don’t know.

Billy: I get to be the head honcho. I get to be the jack to all these young upstarts, you know. Show them the ropes. Show them what’s up.

Jack: Is that really how you see our relationship?

Victor: Your hands, my sweetheart. Has the stress triggered your ms again?

Nikki: No, it’s– it’s knowing that jordan is nearby.

Victor: My baby, I promise you, she will not come anywhere near our family again. Come here.

Victoria: Would you like something to eat or maybe drink? Some coffee?

Cole: Oh, no. No, thanks.

Victoria: Okay. Why are you smiling at me like that?

Cole: Some things never change, I guess. Which is reassuring.

Victoria: I happen to think everything’s changed. In ways that I– I can’t even comprehend.

Cole: And yet you still turn into miss etiquette when you’re upset or something’s bothering you.

Victoria: Is that how you remember me? That’s funny because, uh, I remember when we first met that um, I was slightly wild. I don’t think I would even recognize that woman.

Cole: Wild, yet polite. And you are still the same woman. Just more grown up, with a few more facets.

Victoria: Yes, indeed. We have both grown a lot since then. I think losing a daughter, that– that’s changed us both a lot.

Cole: Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine. I mean, after all these years.

Victoria: When you look at claire, do you…

Cole: I honestly don’t know. Yeah. Michael.

Michael: The judge decided that claire should be remanded to a psychiatric hospital.

Victoria: Oh, wow.

Victor: Where?

Michael: Here. In genoa city. My husband and I have never been more active. What is cirkul? Cirkul is the fuel you need to take flight. Cirkul is the energy that gets you to the next level. Kyle: Okay. We finally have real momentum with tucker, but he won’t buy my act much longer if I don’t actually steal him a real product from jabot.

Diane: Exactly. Which is why you need to come clean to your father.

Kyle: Okay. But we’re agreed. We can’t let him in this though, right? I mean, what we have in motion is solid.

Diane: Yes. And jack might not, but that’s a chance we have to take. And when he asks why we kept it from him?

Kyle: It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Meanwhile, I can’t do anything else until everyone else falls in line. So, where’s ashley at with selling her half of the company?

Diane: By the end of the day, tucker will be the sole owner of glacade.

Kyle: Perfect. Everything else is falling into place. Dad is the missing piece. Once we have his support, tucker won’t stand a chance.

Billy: Look, I’m not saying we haven’t had good days because we have, you know. But we’ve also had some minor and major conflicts. And as far as the chain of command at jabot, this is as far as I go. So, I’m never going to live up to your standard and you’re never gonna retire. So, I have to seek out greener pastures. I need a little bit of space. Little bit of freedom. To grow.

Jack: You’re saying I limit you?

Billy: Yeah. But you have to, jack. There’s only one jack abbott, okay? And I can’t compete with that. You try telling that to my brain. The part of my brain that always wants to win. It’s really challenging to try and carve a new path when those old demons don’t stay quiet.

Jack: Meaning?

Billy: Meaning I was the screw-up that got shipped off to hong kong. Couldn’t take anything seriously, let alone myself. And– and inevitably I would, you know, bounce around. I’d make a 1,000 mistakes and I’d come crawling back to jabot trying to dazzle you, promising that this was gonna be the difference. I was gonna make my mark this time. Impress the board, impress anyone, impress everyone and– and there were– there were some good days there. There were some bad days too, but at the end of it, it was all about you and– and it’s just not fair. To either one of us.

Jack: So, you think you’re gonna have any more luck this time at chancellor?

Billy: I don’t know. Older, wiser. Leap of faith.

Jack: Yeah, maybe. Or maybe just running away.

Victoria: So, what happens now? What’s next?

Michael: Claire’s being transported to genoa city as we speak. Under the very strict supervision of an armed guard.

Nikki: Oh, my god. This is happening so quickly.

Victoria: Mom, I know that you’re frightened after everything that’s happened, but everyone’s gonna be on high alert, right? There’s gonna be no slip-ups, no surprises. I think that it’s time for the healing to begin for everyone. Sooner rather than later, don’t you think?

Victor: What you’re forgetting is the added difficulty and problem of claire arriving in town before we have neutralized that other threat. That jordan woman.

Michael: You’ve got your security team on alert, yes?

Victor: Of course.

Nikki: We all need to be very careful.

Victor: Yeah.

Nikki: And darling, I know that sentimentality can be very powerful, but we don’t really know who she truly is.

[ Phone ringing ]

Cole: Well, we’re about to find out, right now. Claire is our daughter. She’s our daughter.

I love the way your eyes light up when we’re about to go in for a kill. I love the way your brilliant mind works. I love it all, audra.

Audra: Why are you just now saying it?

Tucker: I didn’t think I needed to. There was no kyle to make you doubt me, or yourself. I thought we had a kind of unspoken language where we didn’t need to say everything. Because what we have together is deeper than that. And that doesn’t come along every day. Or in a lifetime. And you know, at least I hope you do, that I’m doing all this for you.

Audra: Explain that to me.

Tucker: Well, I want chancellor-winters for devon and jabot is the, uh, the jewel that I’m saving for you.

Audra: Don’t lie about this.

Tucker: I– I have never lied to you.

Audra: You’re going after jabot for revenge, not because you want to show me what a magnanimous guy you are. You know, and the fact that you’re making all this effort to snow me makes me trust you even less.

Tucker: Well, I have my concerns as well now. Don’t I? You’ve let kyle into your head and he’s made himself quite comfortable there. You appear to be getting a little soft, forgetting the rules.

Audra: Oh. Have I disappointed you? Oh, now I should go and be your smart and loyal disciple, right? You’ve tried that maneuver on me before. It’s a waste of your time and honestly, it’s insulting.

Tucker: I’m sorry if I’ve insulted you. That is the last thing I ever want to do. There’s a whole list of things I do want to do and insulting you is not on it. Hey. Please don’t be mad at me. You are one of the few people I actually admire. Where would I be without you? Can you imagine me without you? Go ahead. I know you want to.

Audra: Slap you?

Tucker: No, smile.

Audra: Do I get to choose?

[ Phone chiming ]

Tucker: Ha. Champagne for everyone.

Billy: You say run away like it’s a bad thing, jack. For a lot of people, that’s a life-saving maneuver. You light some fire, you run away. You get some help. You find a safe place to land.

Jack: You run to your mother. You take the escape hatch.

Billy: You’re upset because you think I’m blaming you. And I’m not, okay? I’m not a victim here. You– you didn’t do this to me.

Jack: Sure sounds like I am the problem.

Billy: I get to walk away right now because I’m okay. I didn’t self-combust. I didn’t lose the yacht. I’m making a rational decision because it’s the right thing to do. You know how good that feels? I got a new job. I’m gonna work my ass off. I got an amazing woman who I adore. My kids respect me. If I lose that, I got nothing else. I don’t want to be that guy anymore. I like this guy.

Jack: Yeah. Well, I love this guy.

Billy: Yeah. Always a competition. Jeez. Fine, you win.

Jack: I’m gonna miss you, you know that.

Billy: Jack, I’m not leaving town.

Jack: No, you’re just going somewhere a bit safer.

Billy: Can you do me a favor? Can you ask kyle to keep the festivities to a minimum when he celebrates my departure?

[ Jack sighing ] Not the reaction I was expecting. Maybe kyle isn’t the co-ceo apparent that I thought he was gonna be.

Diane: Well, looks like the gang’s all here. How’s it going, billy?

Billy: Jack will fill you in.

Kyle: What was that?

Diane: Uh, fill us in on what?

Billy: Billy is leaving jabot.

Diane: He is? He changed his mind?

Kyle: Why?

Jack: Because of me. Because of me, damn it. I am to blame.

Victor: Are you sure claire is your daughter?

Cole: 97.8%.

Nikki: I can’t believe it. She’s our baby eve.

Victoria: I mean, we grieved her. She was– she was gone.

Cole: Yeah. We were lied to. Thanks, michael.

Victoria: Oh, michael. You– you kept her out of prison. Thank you so much. But cole, now we have to keep her safe.

Michael: From the little I know, claire’s been through so much. This transition’s not gonna be easy, for any of you.

Victoria: Well– well, the sooner the better, right? I mean, we should provide some comfort for her. Get to know her. She should get to know us, of course, right? We should go–

Nikki: Wait, wait, wait. Do you really think that this is wise, to make such big sweeping changes to our lives? We’ve just now found out the results. You don’t have to make any decisions now. That’s all I’m saying.

Victoria: I need to see her. I– I wanna go to memorial before– when she arrives. I wanna be there.

Cole: Yeah. Yeah. I’m thinking– I’m thinking the same thing.

Victoria: Yeah.

Nikki: Victoria, shouldn’t we discuss it first?

Victoria: Mom, all I can think about is claire. Michael?

Michael: Go, go. I’ll meet you there.

Victoria: I love you. I’ll call you.

Nikki: I love you too, baby.

Victoria: Okay. I love you, daddy.

Victor: Okay, my sweetheart. You be careful, okay?

Victoria: I will. Okay. Let’s go.

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: Michael?

Michael: I know. I know. We’ll talk. Now, I really need to go take care of things.

Victor: Come here.

[]

Audra: And just like that, I’ve lost your attention.

Tucker: No, it’s glacade.

Audra: The paperwork went through?

Tucker: You are looking at the sole owner of the greatest cosmetics company in the world.

Audra: And we haven’t even developed a single product yet.

Tucker: But when we do, it’s gonna set the industry on fire. Provided your boyfriend comes through for us.

Diane: What makes you think that you’re the reason that billy decided to leave jabot?

Jack: Billy as much as spelled it out. Trying to measure up was always difficult because it felt like a competition he had to win.

Diane: Are you sure it’s not because he wanted to work with his mother? Jack, I had no idea that he felt so strongly about–

Jack: Yeah. Neither did I. Shame on me.

Kyle: It makes sense. I mean, working with you could feel like a poker marathon. Constantly trying to outwit, outplay you. Knowing he’ll never come out on top. What?

Jack: You never felt like that? I mean, did– that you were in a competition with me, did you?

Kyle: Of course. But I figured that was sort of a typical father-son thing. It doesn’t represent any deeper issues with me. As a rule.

Diane: So, billy decided to remove himself from his trigger.

Jack: Yeah, his trigger. That would be me.

Diane: Yeah. Well, I’m sorry, jack. I know you hoped that he could handle being back at jabot.

Kyle: Well, I mean, this changes things, doesn’t it? Maybe it’s a good time to talk–

Jack: Kyle, I– I think I need a moment alone with your mother.

Kyle: Okay.

Jack: Alone.

Nikki: I hope I didn’t sound unfeeling.

Victor: No, not at all, sweetheart. You handled it very well. I mean, who wouldn’t have had a reaction after knowing that girl is coming to town.

Nikki: Their daughter. Oh, my god.

Victor: I know. I know.

Nikki: I don’t know how much more victoria or I can take. I mean, she needs calm and peace. The exact opposite of what claire is. Claire is the definition of unstable.

Victor: Yeah. What are you afraid of?

Nikki: I am worried that victoria is going to feel like she has to show us that she’s stronger and braver than she actually is feeling.

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: Then, it’s up to those of us who love her to protect her. That’s all.

Victoria: She must be so frightened.

Cole: Terrified.

Victoria: Just everything is– just happened so quickly. I mean, one minute she’s in oregon and now she’s–

Cole: She’s here. And she’s our daughter.

Victoria: Our daughter.

Cole: Yeah. I mean, I just– I kept thinking this is– I was just so sure that this was impossible.

Victoria: I know. But it’s true. I mean, it doesn’t feel– doesn’t feel real yet. Imagine if that’s how we feel, how– how she must feel?

Cole: Just– I can’t even begin to think how she’s gonna make– make sense of all of this.

Victoria: I just keep thinking about all of the things that we couldn’t protect her from. I mean, we– we weren’t there to keep her safe.

Cole: Years of being manipulated, broken down, told that she was rejected, unloved.

[ Victoria sighing ]

Victoria: We’ll protect her now.

Cole: That’s right. It’s our job. You know that feeling of having to re-wash dishes

Kyle: Kicked out. Look, dad, if this is about the breakfast on the expense account–

Jack: I’ll let you know when we’re done, son. Thanks.

Kyle: All right.

Diane: Why did kyle have to leave?

Jack: I wanted to discuss what happens now that billy is gone.

Diane: What’s there to discuss? Everything goes back the way it should be. Kyle gets his old position back.

Jack: Actually, I’m not sure that’s the right thing to do.

Claire: What is this? Why am I here?

Victoria: We brought you here to memorial hospital in genoa city, so…

Claire: I know that part. He told me to plead guilty and I did what he said. I always do what everyone says. Just tell me what I’m doing here.

Cole: We want to help you.

Claire: You want to keep an eye on me.

Victoria: No. No, that’s– that’s not the case.

Claire: You’re looking at me right now like I’m– like I’m an experiment.

Victoria: We just want to help you get better.

Claire: You came to get my dna, didn’t you?

Cole: We already have it. We found your dna at the lake house.

Victoria: Yes. We did. We took that dna and we tested it against ours.

Claire: So, do you already know?

Victoria: Claire, it’s the only honest thing that your aunt jordan said. You are our daughter.

Victor: My sweet baby. Just remember that through all the years of raising victoria, you have always been reasonable and loving.

Nikki: I need to be that now.

Victor: Yeah. But welcoming that claire woman into our lives is not going to be easy.

Nikki: We’re going to have to if we want to keep victoria in our lives.

Victor: Yeah. Well, what if you and I decide just to celebrate the occasion, you know.

Nikki: Under normal circumstances, yes. This is hardly normal.

[ Phone ringing ]

Victor: Excuse me. Oh, wait a minute. These are the– my security people at the motel. I gotta take this, my sweetheart.

Nikki: Of course.

Victor: You’ll be all right?

Nikki: Yeah. I’m fine.

Victor: Okay?

Nikki: Mm-hmm.

Victor: Okay. Yeah. I hope you have something useful for me.
