Well, you know, I went to the hospital, sat by dante’s bed. I’m trying to be there for olivia. I’m just terrified that my son’s not going to make it.

[ Monitors beeping ]

[ Tapping ] Hi. How’s it going? Do you want the cheerful and optimistic answer? If you’re feeling cheerful and optimistic. I’m scared. I’m confused. Yeah, I don’t blame you. I would be, too. Especially now that mom said jason is the prime suspect in dante’s shooting. Jason: I’m on pier 55.

My office wants an update on the dante falconeri shooting and how it relates to the shot that was taken at sonny corinthos earlier that evening. Should the individual face separate charges, or do we make the warehouse and conspiracy charges lesser offenses included in the charge of first degree murder? Well, the individual in question is jason morgan. Uh, but I’m not convinced that he tried to murder anyone. God, I hope you’re right. Drew. Come in. I saw your light was still on. I was, um — I was just hoping to catch michael. Oh, he had to run an errand. I’m not sure how long he’ll be. You might want to text him. Yeah. This isn’t really something that I want to say in a text. Carly and I broke up.

[ Knock on door ] What time is it? Can I come in? Do you have a warrant? No. I just want to speak to you. Come in. Okay, agent cates. What do you want to say to me? I need your help.

[ Grunts ]

Yeah. Nice. I gotta hand it to mom. She gave me and molly a heads up before the invader ran the story on dante’s shooting. What did she say? Everything that the article said, just more personalized — that jason is still alive and that he’s the prime suspect in dante’s shooting. It was so confusing to me then, and it’s still confusing. I don’t know how you’re holding up. This must be hitting you really hard. Yeah, I’M… still trying to process it all. Okay. “Okay” what? Well, nothing. I just — I expected you to say that this was all a big mistake, and there was no way that jason could do this. Okay, well, if that’s what you want to hear, then go talk to carly. I was just listening to the 911 call, which ids jason’s voice. I’ve heard it. Even without the tech, I knew it was jason. Yeah. Coupled with that, we have the dna evidence from the sweatshirt used to bandage dante. Jason’s blood — appears he was shot while wearing the sweatshirt, then took it off and tied it around dante’s wound. So we know that he tried to save dante. Did he also shoot him? Our preliminary theory is that dante was pursuing jason and a second individual. Jason shot his pursuer, and then upon realizing that it was dante, tried to save him. Well, that certainly fits the evidence we have so far. But you don’t believe it. I don’t want to believe it. That is something else entirely. Olivia says you’ve been a rock. Well, I’m glad she thinks that. Hey. You’re doing something wonderful for her, you know. You’re allowing her to pour all her love and her hope into your son. But you know you have the right to your feelings, too. Olivia may not be in a place to hear them or share them, but — but I can. It’s just not fair. Oh, come on. You know what I mean? I do, I do, but, you know, what’s fair, right? Well — listen. I love you. You know that. God forbid, situations were reversed and it was my child in a hospital bed fighting for her life, you would be the first person I call. So I want you to lean on me. You can tell me anything. You know I’m not going to judge you. If jason was the one who shot dante… I will never forgive him and I will never forgive myself. Why would I help you? You seem convinced jason morgan is innocent. He is. Help me prove it. Look, the last thing I want to do is waste bureau resources by chasing the wrong suspect, so help me out. Tell me why you’re so sure that jason didn’t shoot dante falconeri. Because jason isn’t reckless or stupid. He wouldn’t shoot at someone without knowing who they are. He wouldn’t shoot a cop, any cop, and he would never shoot dante. Why never dante? Because he’s sonny’s son? That’s part of it. But the other part is that dante lives with jason’s ex-wife, and they’re raising jason’s son. You know, for some men, that would be a motive for murder. How did michael react to the news about jason? Oh, he’S… thrilled that jason’s alive, you know, of course. And convinced he didn’t shoot dante? Yes. Yeah, so was carly. All evidence to the contrary, she’s sure that jason is innocent, and nothing and nobody can shake her faith in him. And that — that’s why we broke up. Willow also says you need to change into clean clothes. Yeah, when did willow get so bossy? Oh, she’s always been bossy. She used to be a teacher, remember? Now she’s a nurse. The secret is she’s — she’s very subtle about it. She’s so sweet and reasonable that you don’t even realize she’s ordering you around. She’s a good nurse. Like your grandmother. Your mom told me about bobbie. I’m sorry. Yeah, it happened on new year’S. She was in amsterdam sorting through, uh, luke’s affairs, and she — she passed away in her sleep. We were — we were all devastated, especially my mom. Man, you know what’s crazy? Um… the first time that I held you, bobbie put you in my arms. She did? Yeah. Yeah. You were, um — you were a little premature, and you had to be in the incubator. And then bobbie, she brought me into the nursery. She gowned me up, she — she sat me in this rocking chair, and she put you in my arms. And she taught me how to hold you, and how to support your head, and then… she let go. That was the scariest moment in my life. Hey, I don’t blame you. I felt that exact same way the first time I held amelia. Jason, I cannot wait for you to meet her. She is so beautiful. She — she looks like willow. Actually —

[Clears throat] Well, she — she wants you to get into clean clothes, so let’s, uh — let’s get on it. Yeah.

[ Grunting ] What happened to you?

It’s not like I stopped loving carly. It’s just that I recognize that — that there’s no future there. I’m so sorry. Yeah, so am I. She’s an incredible woman, and she made me very happy, and I hope that I made her happy, too. Obviously, you did, drew. Come on. You’ve been incredible. Generous, supportive, beyond forgiving. Well, not always, not today. I came down pretty hard on her for — for something that I honestly, I don’t know if she can help. Not that she would want to, like… carly’s first loyalty is always to jason. He means more to her than anybody else, other than her kids. And when we all thought that he was dead, she was — she was free to pursue other relationships, but now that he’s back… she’s not. Alright, I’ll burn these. No, no. No, don’T. I need those. Jason, there’s a bullet hole through your shirt. No, when I leave here, I need to be wearing those clothes. There can’t be any evidence that somebody helped me. Definitely nothing that tracks back to you, willow, or danny. Okay. Whatever you say. So when you leave, where are you going? I haven’t figured that out yet. Can you at least tell me where you’ve been? Okay, clearly that line about me helping you help jason was just bs to get in the door, right? No, I’m just pointing out that some men might have a problem when their ex-wife moves on and their kid’s being raised by somebody else. Okay, so now instead of jason shooting dante to avoid arrest, he now lured him to the pier and shot him out of jealousy. It’s just a theory. Well, it’s a ridiculous theory. Well, it’s my job to entertain every possible scenario in the course of an investigation. Really? Because I thought it was your job to keep an open mind, to go where the evidence leads you. Is there any proof at all that jason’s guilty? Because I’m pretty sure there’s evidence that jason tried to help dante. How would you know that? When ava showed me the freeze frame of jason’s face from the drone, I couldn’t believe it. Ava? She went with me to the warehouse, and I knew something was going to happen, so I had spinelli put cameras all over the warehouse. So I went to dante’s, ava went to spinelli’s, she came back, and there was the picture of jason on the roof with another shooter. Sonny, I’m so sorry. That must have been surreal. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake, but it was legit. And, you know, uh, I just — I just couldn’t believe it. Well, it seems impossible. Well, for you, because you have history, but, you know, ava is more objective. So, wait, where is ava right now? She’s dropping off avery at school. Okay. Alright, so let me get this straight. Ava, she shows you the picture, right? You see that it’s jason. Right. And he appears to be working with the sniper. No, he is working with the sniper. Okay, and you realize you’re the target? Yeah. Why is jason trying to kill you? I don’t know, lois, but maybe it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other or anything. Maybe he’s just forgotten what it’s like to be loyal to me.

Multiple conflicts ofinterest when it comes to jason. A few years back, he saved my life. And that’s when I got to know him a little better than I had previously. He is — was — is remarkable. He’s cool under fire and a clear thinker and someone that I instinctively trusted. Then, of course, my daughter loves him. He made a crucial difference in robin’s life. All of which makes me want to believe that he did not shoot dante. But of course, I cannot be in this job wanting to think the things I want to think. I have to remain impartial and assemble the evidence, and trust the system. I think that’s why I’m really here — to see how you do it. Stay impartial. Because I don’t know that I can. Which would mean I’m in the wrong job. It’s not exactly a shock that carly thinks jason is innocent. Don’t tell molly I’m telling you this, but carly told me that jason showed up at her place the night that dante was shot. Well, again, that’s not really a surprise that he would go to carly. But why don’t you want me to tell molly? ‘Cause molly’s an ada, and she would have to notify the cops, and the cops could get a search warrant for carly’s house. And then if they did find any proof that jason had been there, carly could get charged with something like aiding and abetting. Yeah. Right. Hey. Mom would be proud. Daughter of a lawyer. I’ve got to be honest with you. I really can’t stand the sight of carly right now. I mean, I don’t want her to go to prison or anything like that, I just really want her to leave me alone. Did carly say jason said he didn’t shoot dante? Carly told me that jason showed up in her living room, they had a big reunion, the cops showed up, and not a word was mentioned about dante. But, I mean, he’d come from the pier. So even if he didn’t shoot dante, I mean, he was just there and he saw it and he called 911. You’d think that’d be top of mind, right? And that he’d mention it to carly. Yeah, you’d think. Classic jason — never says anything. Sam, you really think he did it? Every minute that goes by, I am afraid that he did it. I’m so sorry, sam. I just — I can’t believe that jason would do that. Especially since he’s wanted in connection to the rifle shooting at the warehouse. My dad has as a rip in his coat that pr– hey, danny morgan, what are you doing here again? I didn’t get killed when the tunnel collapsed on cassadine island. Well, that much is obvious. The tunnel was blocked. I couldn’t — I couldn’t get to britt and the others. So I followed the tunnel out. It led me to the beach, and I was heading toward the main house. But there were two guys there waiting with guns. Who were they? That part I can’t tell you. But they took me prisoner. They flew me out of greece, and, um, eventually I ended up in a room with no windows, talking to a man who wanted me to do a job. And he had the leverage to force me to agree. And you can’t tell me what that leverage was. No. What was the job? I’ve been working as a private military contractor. A mercenary. I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I haven’t seen jason. He didn’t fill me in on his version of events. If you check your records, you will see that one of the people who found dante at the pier was my daughter, josslyn jacks. Yeah, I remember her name from the report. Yeah. And when she and her friend, dex, showed up to the pier, they found dante bandaged with a sweatshirt with a cellphone lying next to him with an open line to 911.

That was jason. And no, not because he told me, but because I know jason. And why the hell aren’t you going with the theory that this other unidentified suspect was the one who shot dante, and jason was the one who saved him? Well, if you know jason so well, then maybe you can tell me why he ran away instead of waiting for the first responders.

I remember when jason started working for you. The quartermaines, oh, they were so upset. Especially alan and monica, but, you know, jason wouldn’t listen to anyone as far as he was concerned, he liked and respected you, and no one was going to stop him from being your friend. There was a point where I didn’t trust anybody more than jason. Or maybe — maybe I trusted him too much. What does that mean? When I was in nixon falls, him and carly got together. Yeah, I heard that they got married. But olivia told me that you showed up on the same day, and then they got it annulled. Right? I thought it was like a friendship thing, that they were helping each other out. That’s what I thought. Um, you know, maybe I thought wrong. Are you saying that you think they were cheating on you — look, I’m not saying they slept together, but they were in love. I was the last one to know. And it — and it — I just felt like it broke some trust. Is that why you divorced carly the last time? I thought it was because of nina. I’m not going to deny I had feelings for nina, but I really wanted to make my marriage work. I tried, I tried, but carly made it impossible. I’m so sorry. No, you know, it doesn’t really matter right now. My son could be dying, and the cops think that jason is the one who shot him. I don’t know why jason ran. Maybe it’s because he didn’t want to be arrested for something he didn’t do or locked up by the fbi, who already has presumed that he’s guilty. And I think it’s because he wanted to remain undetected. I don’t know, you’re going to have to explain that one to me. Well, it is clear that jason and the other suspect didn’t know there were surveillance cameras in the warehouse or a drone hovering the roof. They made no attempt to hide their faces. Which means at the time dante was shot, jason was under the belief that his presence in port charles remained undetected. He had no idea there was footage of his activities on the roof or that his picture was already in the hands of the authorities. Maybe you should be grateful to whoever shot him. If they hadn’t, he’d already be long gone. It’s hard for me to believe that carly would just let you go. I mean, you’ve been through so much together. You went to prison for her. Oh. Well, no, taking the plea deal to protect carly, that was the right thing to do. I would do that again in a heartbeat. I don’t regret that. It’s just that I would never want her to — to stay with me out of — out of obligation. Because at this point, that’s kind of all it would be. Okay, I think you’re really underestimating yourself and carly’s feelings for you. No, I know she loves me. She does, but… not the way that she loves him. And I didn’t want to drag it out, and I didn’t want to have to turn it into a test where she’s constantly having to prove that she’s choosing me over jason, because we both know the second that there’s a crisis, she’s going to run straight to him. I’m sorry. I really am, you know, you — you deserve so much better. I agree with you there. And I intend to find it. Michael: So how long have you been back in port charles? I mean, since yesterday. I was — I was working with a sniper. Hamish — I already told you about him. But when I found out the target was sonny, I made sure hamish missed. And then hamish and I, we were heading to the waterfront to leave by boat, and that’s when dante caught up with us. And you know the rest. So — so if you weren’t sent to shoot sonny, would you have come back at all? I don’t know. And I thought about it every single day. But the job the man gave me in the room with no windows isn’t done. Well, what happens if you don’t finish? Something I can’t live with. I have to finish. I can’t believe you snuck out for a second time. I didn’t sneak out this time. Yuri drove me. What is wrong with him? Doesn’t he realize that you are too young to be ordering him around? I lied and said you wanted to see me. Danny, I do want to see you. I love seeing you. But you have to realize I am going out of my mind with worry right now. And the only thing that is keeping me calm is knowing that you, scout, and rocco are safe at the quartermaines. You know, just a thought, but maybe he’s here because his father, jason, is alive and is a suspect in dante’s shooting.

I’ve got my own conflictsof interest with jason. Sam was married to him. They have a son together. Although it’s ironic, I think sam has more doubts about jason’s innocence than I do. You believe he’s innocent? Look, three years ago, if you’d asked me, I would have known he was, and no amount of evidence could have convinced me otherwise. I mean. I worshiped jason. I just thought he and sam had the most romantic love story ever. And even after they broke up, jason was somebody that sam — that our whole family could count on. You know, jason was an unconventional father, but he loved danny. He was willing to do anything sam thought was best for their child. Plus, he literally saved kristina from a cult. Yeah. So that’s another thing in the bonus column. I mean, why wouldn’t I give jason every benefit of the doubt? We don’t know where jason’s been or what he’s been through. What we do know is there is footage of him acting like a spotter for a sniper, taking aim at sonny. Hence the conspiracy charges. You don’t just accidentally wind up on a rooftop next to a man with a high powered rifle, helping him set up the shot. I mean, if he was willing to participate in sonny’s murder, why wouldn’t he shoot dante? But the anomaly is the 911 call. I keep thinking that dante was shot by the other individual and jason tried to help him. So why wouldn’t he stick around for first responders? All this could be a moot point because there’s been no sign of jason since he jumped from the bridge. Danny, I’m so sorry. I should have sat you down and talked to you. Mom, it’s okay. No, it’s not okay. I have been so focused on dante, I didn’t stop for a second to think that maybe you might have some questions yourself. I am not a little kid anymore. Dante’s been shot, so of course you need to be with him. Besides, it’s not like you can tell me anything about my father. Can you? All I know is what I saw in the invader — that jason is back and he’s a suspect in dante’s shooting. Okay. You’re right. You are not a little kid anymore. And, danny, to be completely honest with you, I have no idea where your father’s been or why he thought it was okay to let us think that he had died. But jason doesn’t think like other people. What do you mean? Your father. He is — he’s drawn to danger. He chases it. Actually, anyone else would have been trying to get home. But not jason. Maybe — maybe he has a reason. Yeah, I’m sure he does. But jason’s reasons aren’t like anyone else’s either. You know, I’ve been quoting your grandmother a lot today. And she’s taught me a lot about law over the years, both of us. But one of the most important things she taught me is that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. So at the moment, it seems like all the evidence is pointing to jason being the one who shot dante, but he’s not guilty unless and until he is charged, tried, and a jury says so. I know you have a lot of questions, and I don’t know where your dad was or why he stayed away. Your dad is the only one who can really give you those answers. Hi, uh — drew. Michael. Hey. Sonny, the bond you have with dante is — it’s full of — it’s full of love and mutual respect. Can I tell you something? For the last two years, dante is the only one I could go to. He’s the only one that I could talk to that doesn’t judge me, that believes in me, that helps me, that does everything for me. You want to know what the last thing I said to to him was? What? “Stop being in my way.”

Kristina is right, and your father is innocent until proven guilty. We’re just going to have to hope that there is some sort of explanation for all this. And then when dante wakes up, he can tell us what happened. The doctors know when he’s going to wake up? Oh, there’s no way to predict that. It could be today or a while from now. I’M… sorry I came and worried you. Oh, don’t be sorry. I’m sorry I snapped at you. I love you. Okay? I need your help. I need you to promise me that you’re going to go to the quartermaines, and please, please, please, danny, stay out of trouble. I’ll stay out of trouble, mom. Agent cates was at one end of the bridge and I was at the other, and, um, cates told him to keep his hands where we could see them, which he didn’t really comply, but he didn’t pull a weapon. And I told him to turn himself in so that we could sort it all out, and that’s when he jumped. But I tell you, he did not look desperate. He looked determined, like he knew that he could survive the drop into the river, and I think he did. Have the search parties turned anything up? No. But then, according to the csi, it’s something to do with the currents in the river. Like, if jason were dead, he would have washed ashore by now. And he hasn’T. Ergo, he’s almost certainly still alive. So where is he now? I don’t know. We’re continuing the search, and we’re proceeding with the theory that jason’s injured and holed up somewhere in the area, or maybe just slightly, that he rendezvoused with the other individual and he got out of port charles. Hell, he could have got out of the country by now, for that matter. He could be anywhere. You really think that’s just as likely? Yeah. I mean, I worked for the wsb for years, you know that. And I used to see these sniper teams operate, and they were professional. They get in, they set up, they make the kill, they get out. That does appear to be what was happening on the warehouse roof. In which case, jason is long gone. He could be almost impossible to trace. I mean, I guess I should be relieved. It means I wouldn’t have to prosecute jason. But disappearing is basically an admission of guilt. No? I’m not so sure. And the more I look at the evidence, the less sense it makes to me. Something else is going on here, something that I’m not seeing yet. Come on. You think dante hasn’t said a bunch of things about you in the last few years that he wishes he could take back? But you still love him, right? Always. Always. Yeah. So why don’t you cut yourself some slack? It’s just difficult, lois, because he only went to the warehouse because of me. He was telling me about the cops. If I had listened, he’d still be home. Okay. I’m about to rock your world, sonny. You are not god. You’re not responsible for dante’s choices. Or for jason’s, for that matter. You cannot control the outcome of events. But it doesn’t mean you’re powerless because you’re a parent, and there is nothing stronger than a parent’s love. That is what dante needs right now, and I know that he can feel it. I know it like I know my own name. Well, I’ve known you long enough. I’m not going to argue with you. Oh. That’s good.

[ Laughs ] This conversation’s over. I want you to leave. I didn’t mean to offend you. Yes, you did. And you succeeded. Well, for what it’s worth, you offended me, too. The fbi doesn’t presume anyone’s guilty. We follow the evidence where it leads. My only goal here is to find the truth. Great. I can’t wait for you to find the truth and clear jason’s name. But until then, I want you to get out of my house. And don’t come back unless you have a warrant. You know what’s funny? Every time I mention jason’s name, boy, does it get under your skin. [ Laughs ] Um, well, that hadn’t occurred to me until you just told on yourself, so I’m gonna keep a watchful eye out. Well, you do what you have to.

[ Chuckles ] What’s going on? Pop, I have some news that I should share with you sooner than later. Sounds important. I found the doctor that misdiagnosed you all those years ago. Jason is… the one that you turn to when… when you’re afraid and when you’re in trouble. He keeps your secrets. He’S… he’s the one that you count on. He’s never failed me. What about the last two and a half years when he let you think he was dead? That doesn’t count as failing you? I don’t know where jason was or what he was doing, but I know he came back as soon as he could. Do — do you hear yourself right now? Because basically you’re saying, like, wherever he was, whatever he was doing, like, you’ll be okay with it. I mean, he could have been lying in a hammock on a tropical island sipping rum, and — and you wouldn’t care? I hope that’s all that happened to jason. I have a feeling it was something worse. Well, whatever it is, we both know that you’re gonna be there for him, by his side, helping him through it. And carly, I’m not gonna be here to watch. W-wait, wait. Are you saying that we’re done?! [ Knock on door ] Hey, danny. Is everything okay up at the house? Fine. I’m here because… I need a favor.

[ Alarm ringing ] There they are!

You’re telling me that after all this time, you found that doctor? Dr. Paul braddock. You’re certain? It’s the same doctor, paul braddock, who slapped a label on me and ruined my life? I mean, I can’t be 100% certain, pop, but he checks all the boxes. He was — he was on the hospital staff, working at that hospital in baltimore when you were brought in for treatment after your arrest. And he’s still alive? Yeah, yeah, according to the information I was able to access. Of course, he’s retired. He’s living in some — I don’t know — fancy retirement community in westminster, maryland, just outside of baltimore. Pop, we can take a road trip tomorrow

if that’s something you might want to do. Pop, you okay? What… what are you thinking? Not quite sure. I’d always figured he’d be dead by now. I never thought I’d be able to confront the man who — who convinced me I was a danger to my family, the man who introduced me to the word schizophrenia and — and tore my world apart. Yep. That one word was the reason you cut yourself off from everyone you loved and from everyone who loved you. And it turns out, after all this time, I can still look him in the eye. Maybe I could — I could get some answers about myself and — and maybe… maybe see what kind of man he is. Hey, man, it’s a — it’s a lot to take in. Pop, it’s not too much, is it? Aunt stella and I aren’t pushing you toward a confrontation that you’re not ready for, are we? Two individuals were observed on the roof of the warehouse — jason and an unidentified man. Y-you’re already aware of this because spinelli — he was working for you when he put in surveillance, right? Detective chase says he and dante observed the individuals 200 yards from the warehouse, and then they were moving towards the pier, and that’s when dante went after them. 18 minutes after that, 911 call came in reporting that dante had been shot. And voice id confirmed that jason made that call, so we know that he tried to save dante. We don’t know that he shot him. But you don’t know that he didn’T. I need to speak with the commissioner. I’m sorry, agent cates. She’s in with someone. You’ll have to wait.

[ Police radio chatter ] Detective, how long has the commissioner been in with sonny corinthos? Drew, wait, wait! Wait. Come on. Oh, I wish I could… I wish I could tell you that jason didn’t come first. I’m — I didn’T… know this was gonna happen. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I know, I know. I know you didn’t mean to hurt me, and… it doesn’t matter what you did and you didn’t mean. The second that you found out that jason was alive, we were done. So — so, what? Every… everything good between us, it just ends? We pretend like it didn’t happen? What? No. God, no. It happened. It just — it wasn’t enough.

[ Sighs ] I loved every second that I got to spend with you, carly, I really did. But I am not gonna compete with what you have with jason. I don’t want to. Look… uh… I’m a businessman, and I know when to cut my losses and, like… …speaking of that, I-I can’T. I can’t go to work every day and I can’t — I can’t see you. And I know you did an amazing job at crimson, and I know you were only there for me. I know you didn’t want to be there. You and stella haven’t beenpushing me to do anything I haven’t been thinking about myself for years. So you can let that worry go. Okay. Just know that, uh, you have our support, whatever you decide or decide not to do. I do know that, son. But ever since stella told me about dr. Braddock, I-I haven’t been able to think about much else. Just the chance to be able to talk to the man himself and maybe — and maybe make sense out of what happened to me fills me with hope that I can know once and for all what, if anything, was actually wrong with me. The — the professionals, I think, they call that closure. And I want that for you, pop, more than anything. I don’t care what they call it or what you label it. You’ve suffered enough. You are a good son, curtis. And I thank you. I thank you for all the hard work you did getting me the answers I need. If dr. Braddock can ease your pain even just a little bit, then why are we still sitting here?

And I’m quite certain I am not interested in anything you have to say. Even if it’s information leading to the identity of the person who shot you? You have a reason to believe that jason would shoot dante? All I know is you’re searching for jason. Well, we’re searching for both men. We’ve identified jason. We can’t pull a clear image of the other man’s face from the footage. And he’s disappeared. And so has jason. Well, jason didn’t disappear. He jumped off a bridge so he wouldn’t get arrested. Right. If he died in the fall, we would have recovered his body from the river by now, and we haven’t, so therefore, the assumption is that he is still alive and he’s injured. How do you know that he’s injured? There’s a bullet hole in — in the sweatshirt that was used to bandage dante, and forensics pulled two different blood samples from it, dante’s and jason’S. I don’t know how long the commissioner has been in with corinthos, but maybe you can ask her when they’re done. It’s pretty clear she’s not interrogating him. You know, I couldn’t say. I commend your discretion, detective, but doesn’t it bother you just a little that your superior is in close conversation with a known racketeer? Nope. Working out or beating someone up?

[ Laughs ] Little of both. Mm. I know the feeling.

[ Monitor beeping ] Hi. How’s dante? Um, he is, uh… critical but — but stable. Yeah. Have you heard from jason? I’ve seen him.

[ Exhales ] Jason? Hey, michael. Oh, my god. Oh. He was shot. H-how long have you been here? Uh, since last night, early this morning. Danny found me. Uh, he brought me, um, a first-aid kit. But I do not want to ask him for anything else. I don’t mind. I know, I know. But it wasn’t fair for me to bring you into this. Hey, you should — you just sit down. Come on. Oh, man.

[ Sighs ] Can you just — can you take him back up to the house? I think I can find my own way back there. No, I-I know, danny. I know you can… I know you can find your way back. I just want to make sure you stay up there. Why don’t you want my help anymore? Because I’m wanted by the police, and you shouldn’t be anywhere near it. I’m glad that you found me. I am. I shouldn’t be. But I missed you every day when I was gone. What’s gonna happen to you now?

I know you’re feeling helpless. I understand that you want to do something, anything, to make a difference for your son. Pray. Go sit by dante’s side. But do not go off to jason or this other man yourself, because you don’t have all the information and you’re gonna wind up doing more harm than good. Are you saying you got the name of the person who put my son in this wheelchair? Hang on a second, dad. I know this game. And we’re not playing. What game? Because after the fbi and pcpd raid on your warehouse, it would seem that your power base is shaky, at best. That’s quite an exaggeration, but it’s true that my life was threatened at night, and I cannot and will not abide it. You and i have been deceived. That’s why I’m here. Not to bargain, but to give you a warning. I’m listening. It appears that the man who shot you is jason morgan. And we both know that he only acts under sonny’s orders. Where has he been? Well, he barely had a chance to say anything because anna and agent cates showed up and they searched my house. Did he tell you who shot dante? No. Okay. So — so the — what I was told, that there was a sweatshirt that was wrapped around dante, used as a bandage, and it had jason’s blood on it, so he was obviously there. Yeah, I mean, it seems like it. Well, he either was or he wasn’t, and he obviously was. Carly, what did jason tell you about the shooting? He didn’t say anything, sam. He didn’t say a word about dante. Please don’t let me interrupt. Sounds like you got some frustrations to work out, too. So, uh, be my guest. I’m just, uh… having second thoughts, that’s all. About? I was dante falconeri’s superior for a few years. I want to be out there searching for the man who shot him. But I’m not a cop anymore. I’m the deputy mayor. And I just remembered the man police are searching for is your brother. I apologize. What are you apologizing for? Because you hope the police will find jason? I hope they do, too. Sam, come here. Look, I told you, jason and I barely had a chance to talk. I mean, when I realized I wasn’t hallucinating and he was really there, I saw that he was injured. So I went to get a first-aid kit, and I was barely able to give him a bandage when the police showed up. By injured, you mean shot? Yes. And he didn’t say who shot him? No. Did it ever occur to you to ask? I already told you, there wasn’t time. Sam, why are you being like this? Oh, I don’t know, carly. Maybe because my ex-husband, who I thought was dead, is alive. Jason? Willow. Michael says you need a nurse. No. No, no, I don’t — I don’t want you involved. Too late. I-I thought you were taking danny back up to the house. Danny’s at our house with the kids. [ Groans ] The bullet went through.

[ Winces ] It will still need to be cleaned and sutured. Okay. Sonny would not order a hit on his own son, and jason would never target him. So your intel is wack. How well do you know sonny, really? Think about it. Sonny escapes not one, not two, but three attempts on his life and emerges again and again unscathed. That seems statistically unlikely, does it not? Not for someone who’s been on top as long as sonny. The man is surrounded by bodyguards and security. The shooting at the pool, even the events at the warehouse — those could have been staged. As for puerto rico, how can we know what, if anything, actually happened? Were you there? I certainly wasn’T. I’m sorry, selina, but everything you’re saying sounds statistically unlikely. Not if you factor in what I believe to be sonny’s long-term plan. I’m waiting. To annex new territory for which he’d need a trusted enforcer who no one saw coming, which fits in with jason’s sudden death on cassadine island a little more than two years ago. Now you’re the one that sounds paranoid. There are worse things to be right now. Jason works for sonny, always has and always will. And it appears sonny is done with any kind of compromise, and anyone who stands in his way surely won’t be there long. Just a few things to think about. Mr. Ashford. This changes everything. Okay, I’m just gonna ask.

[ Grunts ] Go for it. Your brother’s wanted for shooting a cop, and you want him taken into custody? Absolutely. If he’s innocent, the best thing he can do is turn himself in and prove it. You said “if.” I did. So you admit that there’s a chance that jason shot dante? You would know better than me. I’m sure anna devane has briefed you on the investigation. I’m just saying I would have expected you to insist that jason’s innocent. Based on what? I wasn’t there. I haven’t seen the evidence. And I don’t know jason well enough anymore to know what he would or wouldn’t do.

[ Grunts ] Jason did not shoot dante. And no, I don’t have any proof. But I know that because I know jason. You know jason. He would never do something like that. No, I hope that he didn’T. Carly, I pray that he didn’T. But while jason has been god knows where doing god knows what, dante has been here helping me raise his son. So if jason is the reason why dante is laying in that bed right now, hooked up to those machines, I will never forgive him. Can you tell us what happened?

[ Sighs ] I-I mean, not — you know, not all — ooh — not — not all of it. Dante was chasing me and, um, another guy, hamish. And, uh, he told us to stop.

[ Sighs ] I did. Hamish didn’T. I turned around. Dante recognized me. He lowered his gun, and then hamish shot him. I knew it wasn’t you. I went to check on dante, then hamish took a shot at me. There’s a lot of shooting. Yeah. What happened to hamish? He’s dead. When josslyn and dex got to the pier and they saw dante there, he was — he was alone, so… yeah. Um…

[ Clears throat ] Ooh. Sorry. I did — it’s okay. I did everything I could for dante. I called 911, and I did not leave until I heard the sirens coming. Jason, you saved his life. I’m the reason he got shot in the first place.

You know I want justice for dante. Yeah. Well, let me get it. I can’t even believe we’re having this conversation. I’m telling you to find jason when usually I’m the one hiding jason. But I don’t know jason anymore, especially in the last two and a half years. Or more. Look, biologically, [Chuckles] Jason and I are twins. Right? But that’s where the connection ends. I can’t explain why he does what he does. And the last thing that I want is to matter to someone because I’m jason’s brother. Okay, and by someone, you mean…? Well, it’s a… long list, but, yeah, carly’s at the top. Look, we broke up a few hours ago. I broke up with her. Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Breakups are never easy. [ Chuckles ] Well, go ahead. Look, I vented to you. Now it’s your turn. Is he gonna be okay? Yeah, I think so. Um, willow was able to dress his wound. She’s just gonna stay with him for a little bit, monitor him, make sure that he doesn’t have a-a fever. Right, right. That’s — that’s good. Yeah. It must have been a pretty big shock for you to find him in there. Bet he was as shocked as I was. Not that you could tell, right? I-I could. As crazy as it was finding him there, it was — it was good to see him. Yeah. He says he didn’t shoot dante. Do you believe him? I do, but the police think he’s guilty, and he ran away. Doesn’t that make him look even guiltier? Jason ran because he had no other choice. Did he tell you that? No, I just know. Look, danny, your — your father is a good man, the best man I have ever known. And he has a reason for everything that he did. And when he can, he will tell us what those reasons are.

[ Cellphone rings ] Oh.

[ Mumbles ] Hey, ned. Yeah, yeah, danny’s — danny’s here. We, uh — we just got caught up, um… caught up playing video games, but, uh, I-I’ll send him up. Okay. Nice job covering. Yeah. Got kind of used to it. Um, you better go. Look, you don’t want them sending yuri to look for you because they might check the boathouse. Right. Okay. Um, will you come by the house in the morning? Yes, I will find you and give you a full update. Thanks. Danny? No one can know about this. I know. Drink this, and I’ll bring you more. Okay. Thank you. Try to rest. It’s very important, okay? Pop, don’t tell me you’re buying any of that stuff selina wu was selling. That woman has reasons for doing everything she does, and none of them involve helping anyone except selina wu. I’m aware. She’s not exactly what I would call a subtle woman, but I think you owe it to yourself to chase down any lead on who might have shot you, even if the source of that lead is less than ideal. This is not the time for us to be running down to maryland to make sense of my distant past. Pop, it’s not a distant past. You’re misdiagnosis — it stayed in your heart, every step, every day of your life. I still think you’re dealing with it. Then another couple of days won’t matter.

[ Sighs ] Look, so many people are looking for jason morgan. I don’t need to be one more of them. I don’t know. There’s a lot going on here. Maybe — I think it’s best we stay home for now. I hear you, pop. I hear you. Tell me this. Um… until you find out what led to your misdiagnosis, do you think you’ll ever know one moment of true peace? Because if you can look me in my face and tell me that not knowing doesn’t weigh on your soul every day, then we’ll stay right here.

[ Chuckles ] Ah, ha, ha, see? Pop, that settles it. Okay? We — we — we’re gonna go to the fancy retirement home in westminster, maryland, okay? We’re gonna talk to dr. Braddock, and we’re gonna get the answers that you need so you can live some semblance of a peaceful life. I understand police work,but city government, it’s — it’s like a puzzle where all the pieces keep changing. So quit. I couldn’t do that to laura. Besides, anna’s commissioner now. Okay. Well, you could always go back to being detective — chief of detectives. I’m sure they’d be happy to have you. Yeah, well, I’m not a quitter. Besides, in between all of the meetings, I get glimpses of the bigger picture. Solving cases helps one person, one family at a time. Mm. But a good city government helps everyone in the city. For what it’s worth, I admire you for sticking it out. And I’m also grateful. My headquarters are in port charles, and when the city looks good, so does aurora. [ Medical devices beep ] I th, I would see that this whole thing was just a horrible dream, something that we’d wake up from. But dante, you’re really here. And you’re not awake. And no matter where I look, someone or something is telling me that jason’s alive, and he could have done this to you. Sam? Hi. Laura, hi. Has there been any change? Dante’s the same, but the rest of my world is in pieces. No problem, dr. Robinson. Happy to do a consult for you. Who’s the patient? Oh, boy. You’re a nurse. Aren’t you supposed to do more than just stand there and watch me suffer? I’ve already taken your vitals. We’re just waiting for the doctor. Well, why don’t you write this in your notes — next time you touch a patient, wear mittens. Your hands are freezing. I’ll do that. Dr. Finn! Oh, it is so nice to see a friendly face. About the only warm thing in this place. My being here is not good news, heather. For you, you mean? For you. I wish there was something we could do for sam. She seemed beyond exhausted and so shaky. Seeing my big sister like that made me shaky. She’s always been a rock. She’s still holding up better than i would be. Could you imagine, your ex-husband comes back from the dead and could be the reason why your live-in boyfriend is fighting for his life in the icu? I’d be curled up in a ball somewhere. All we can do is support her — starting with getting her some breakfast. She’s got to keep her strength up. Your maternal instincts already kicking in. You’re gonna be such a good mom. Dr. Robinson asked me to consult because you’re presenting with a difficult case. We’ve taken a look at your test results and determined you have cardiomyopathy, which means you have a weakened heart muscle. Wow. No one’s ever accused me of having a weak heart before. It’s not really an accusation. It’s more of a fact, and it’s the reason why you fainted. Oh, that’s why you put me on those pills? Mm-hmm. Unfortunately, you’re not responding to the medication. I’m sorry, but I can’t possibly concentrate on your beautiful voice when I’m in agonizing pain. Could you possibly, you know, move this pillow since I obviously can’t? Yeah. Oh. Thank you. Now, I’m not a doctor, but I have learned the ins and outs of the medical profession by binge watching “grey’s anatomy.” And I’ve also had quite an education from being in and out over the years in various mental facilities. So I feel qualified to ask, why is the infectious disease department’s very own dr. Dashing checking out my ticker? Well, the two cardiologists that examined you before me, they came back with nothing. Dr. Robinson asked me to rule out everything else. And to that end, have you ever experienced any problems breathing in the past? Could you please, higher with the pillow already? No, no. To the left, baby. No, the other left. How many lefts do you have? Doctor, could you possibly get nurse elizabeth in here? I mean, she and i really understand each other, and I’m not vibing with this one at all. No offense. You know, I’m sure there’s a few people that really like you in this place. Heather, heather, could you please focus for a moment? This is actually important. Your symptoms are important. I wish I could, but I’m afraid I’m too distraught. I mean, my complete devastation is swallowing my every thought. In fact, maybe you can help me, and that way, I could help you. With what?

[ Voice breaking ] I really need to see my grandbaby. I’m gonna go see if I can track down tj and say hi. Okay. Bye. How are you holding up, really? How’s your brother? Dante is, uh… he’s out of surgery, but he’s still in critical. And, um, my family is just hoping that he wakes up soon and that he’s okay. Oh, thank god. Yeah, yeah, it’s a huge relief. Listen, um, my whole family’s here, so don’t feel like you have to stay. You’re disappointed. I’m sorry. No, that’s not it. I just know how busy you are, and I don’t want to be an inconvenience. My girlfriend is never an inconvenience — never, and not a minute goes by that I don’t wish I was with you. “Girlfriend.” ![ Chuckles ] It seems like that word’s getting much easier for you to say. I can’t believe how lucky I am that I get to say it. I’m lucky to hear it. Oh, believe me, if it were anything else, I would reschedule my morning to be with you. So what is it about this morning that’s so special? My mother. Jason’s not here. But he was last night. Yes. The invader article said that the police were concentrating their search on the shoreline area. Not coincidentally, you live on shoreline road, so… but even without that, I knew jason would come straight to you. Last night, at the quartermaines’, when you came to help with the kids, was… was he already here? Was he hiding out? No. No. Okay. Well, thank you for that. Because that was good last night, like you really helped out with the kids, and I just felt like we were in it together. I would have hated — I would have hated knowing that that was a lie. I — I didn’t lie to you. But you didn’t call me, either.

[ Groans ] Ahh. Dad?

Laura brought little ace in last night. He’s sick. Even if your grandson was admitted, there’s no way I could just take you to see another patient, especially a minor. But my baby’s baby was brought to this hospital. He didn’t come here on a tour, so obviously, there’s something wrong with him, and I’m just worried sick about what it could be. Please. There must be something that you could do, doc. I’m asking you as a grandmother. I’ll tell you what, how about you cooperate with me, and I’ll see what I can find out for you. Oh. Alright. Um, so other than the awful, awful pain in my hip, um, I’ve been bloated for a couple of months, which, you know, kind of strange. Shouldn’t you be writing this down, ice paws?

It’s — it’s like I have all these thoughts roaming around in my head and I just can’t put words to them. I don’t know. It’s like one second, I’m really hurt because jason could be out there, a fugitive, and then the next second, I feel like I get all weepy because I’m so grateful that he’s alive. And then I have this voice in my head and it keeps asking me, like, where has he been all this time? Why didn’t he try to contact me? I don’t know. It’s very, very complicated. Yeah, but it shouldn’t be complicated, should it? Jason and I were long over before he disappeared. Yes, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was a very significant part of your life. You loved him. You had a child with him. You know, you share all of those experiences. But, honey, you can’t expect yourself to see things clearly right now, when you’re still in shock — and I think you are. Yeah. Wow. I mean, I feel like I have to keep it together, if only for my kids. I had to ask the quartermaines to keep scout home from school, and I’m sure danny has read the article in the invader. By now, he thinks his father is the one who shot dante. How am I supposed to help danny process this if I can’t even process it myself? I wish I had better answers for you, but I do know this. I walked in the house and he said my name, and I recognized his voice, and I turned around. He was standing right there. And, I mean — all I could do was hug him. And then I realized he had been shot, so I ran upstairs and I grabbed a first aid kit and I came down. I was trying to bandage him up, and that’s when anna started banging on the door. He didn’t even know my mom had died. So you told them — told them about bobbie? I was just doing such a bad job at cleaning the wound, I just mentioned how I wished I could call my mom and ask for help, and he said not to. And that’s when I realized he didn’t know. And then when I told him, I could see it hit his face, and I went to tell him what happened, but that’s when anna and john showed up, so… did he tell you how he got shot? No. No, we didn’t talk about it. Because the police think that he shot dante. The police are wrong. Well, how do you know that if you didn’t even talk about it? Because I know jason. Yeah. That’s what I thought you were gonna say. Are you okay? Just a little dizzy. I’m gonna sit over here. What do you need me to do for you? Can you bring me a first aid kit from the house? Jason would never shoot dante. So the police said that, um, dante was in pursuit of two suspects. What if — what if jason shot at the man that was chasing him without realizing that it was dante? No, no, no. There were two suspects, like you just said, so obviously, the other guy shot dante. That’s only obvious to you, carly. I’m — like, you can’t even allow for the possibility that maybe jason made a mistake, let alone the fact that maybe he shot dante — why are you doing this? Why are you so convinced that jason’s guilty? I’m not convinced. I don’t know if jason shot dante, and the truth is, neither do you. You don’t have any evidence. You don’t even have jason’s account on what happened that night. Carly, all you have is how you feel for him, and that’s enough for you. It’s the two of you, jason and carly. You come first with each other. You always have and you always will.

San quentin, california? It’s our professional opinion that that is the best placement for you. Please, please do not do this to me. I had no choice. You gave me no choice. Alley told her mother that she was gay, and her mom’s response was — was like — “the room is messy.” And then she just started, like, folding. It’s like you could practically see her brain short-circuiting because of the cognitive dissonance. It was wild. That must have been — I don’t even know. How do you feel about it? Well, we had talked ahead of time about her family, so I guess it wasn’t totally unexpected. Yeah, but experiencing it up close and personal is different. Yeah, it was tough. But, I mean, her mom called her today to talk, so… I mean, that’s a good sign, right? What? What are you thinking super loud and not saying? No, nothing, I swear, I just — I hope you’re right. I know what you’re doing. Of course, you are thinking that I’m being way too optimistic, and that this is a setup for ally to fall and that that is going be bad for her, which is bad for us as a couple, which is bad for me, which is bad for the baby, and it’s bad for you, because it’s your baby, right? I’m just, I’m sorry, honey. You really mean that? I do. I mean, you have to know that I was totally caught off-guard, and my response was just to completely shut down. But, I mean, I’m not a fool. I know what I walked in on. And I heard you when you were trying to explain to me. I did. I don’t know what to say. I was afraid I’d go my whole life without you ever saying anything like that. Well, I also feel like I should have known what was really going on, and why you would feel more comfortable with a woman right now. What do you mean? Well… what happened with linc brown, that was so traumatizing. An experience like that would make almost anyone want to experiment. I can’t believe that jason shot dante. You don’t want to believe it. I don’t — I don’t want to believe it, either. But we won’t know who shot dante until dante wakes up… … if he wakes up. Yeah. Sam, what… what you and dante have, it’s something really special. You don’t just love each other, you’re partners in every sense of the word. You work as a team. You co-parent. You have each other’s backs. You’re each other’s best friend. It’s inspiring. It really is. And that that sense of support and reliability just makes your love that much more powerful. You came back. Said I would.

It’s already been done, heather. But I will make you a promise. Ace will always be safe, and he will always be loved, and you can rest easy knowing that I will always take good care of him. But you can never see him again.

[ Gasps ] You asked me to give you the benefit of the doubt, to trust that you’d be responsible and healthy and do what’s right for the baby, so maybe I can ask you to do the same for me. Don’t assume I’m always judging you, because I promise, I’m not. I can do that. We got into this whole thing because we trust each other more than anybody. Let’s not forget that. I promise. I love you. I love you. And that trust extends to blaze, so if you think she’s worth fighting for, so do I. That’s not what this is about, at least not for me. I’ve been with women before. Honey, if this is what you need to heal, being with kristina, then I support you.

[ Scoffs ] I can’t believe you. What? What did I say? Who I am, my entire being, has nothing to do with what linc did to me. The fact that you can’t accept that — I can’T. Honey, where are you going? [ Sighs ] Drew, jason’s my friend. No, that’s — that’s not true. I don’t know if there’s a word to explain how I feel about jason, but that doesn’t change how I feel about you. I know you love me. I do.

[Tearfully] I love you so much. And you love jax. And you love sonny. You love sonny a lot. But none of us, none of us will take jason’s place in your life, let alone — let alone in your heart. Jason is the one that you turn to when you’re afraid, when — when you’re in trouble. He’s the one that keeps your secrets, carly. He’s the one that you count on. He’s never failed me. What about the last 2 1/2 years when he let you think he was dead? That doesn’t count as failing you? I have gotten so used to you being there that I don’t think I’ve ever realized how much I actually rely on you. And I’ve got this huge news… and you are the only person that I want to share with.
