Deacon: Answer me, lauren. What do you know about sugar? Does that name mean anything to you? Sheila was texting with her before she went to steffy’S. Lauren, answer me! Who the hell is sugar?

[ Knock on door ]

Finn: Oh, hey.

Hope: Uh, did I catch you at a bad time?

Finn: No, no, no. I just, um, I just got back from a swim, actually.

Hope: Oh, well, funny you should say that. Speaking of, kelly’s goggles.

Finn: Oh, nice. She forgot these, huh?

Hope: Yeah, and I just– you know, things are still a little tense with steffy at work and I just happened to be driving by, so…

Finn: Hm.

Hope: Plus, I just– I wanted to check on you and see how you were doing after…

Finn: You know deacon’s eccentric and quirky?

Steffy: Yeah, clearly. He dated sheila.

Finn: Right, well, now you can add paranoid and delusional to the list. Because get this. Deacon is questioning whether or not sheila is actually dead.

Steffy: What?

Finn: Deacon’s convinced himself sheila may still be alive.

[ Knock on door ]

Liam: Yo, steffy.

Steffy: Liam, hi. What?

Liam: Good, she is alive.

Steffy: What?

Liam: Well, I’ve texted you, like, four times.

Steffy: Oh, you did? Oh. Oh, my phone’s on silent. God, for a second I– I thought you meant, um…

Liam: Meant what? Hey, are you okay? What’s going on with you?

Finn: Yeah, well I appreciate you checking in on me. Especially when I know you’re not a fan of sheila’S.

Hope: Well, even though i might not exactly be sad about sheila’s death, I– I can still be sympathetic to you. I know you’re going through a lot. She’s still your birth mother and, uh, how it all happened is…

Finn: I mean, has it been easy? No. But sheila only had herself to blame.

Hope: Well, when she was alive, she certainly posed a threat to your marriage. She put a strain on it.

Finn: Yeah, wondering if and when she would snap again. And, well, she finally did.

Hope: Well, I guess maybe that’s the silver lining, then? You and steffy, you don’t ever have to worry about sheila carter ever again.

Steffy: Actually, you’re here for the meeting, right? How did it go with the ad budget?

Liam: Yes. Yeah, uh… no, carter and I, we hammered it all out. We even talked about online presence and it’s good. It’s all good. I just figured I’d pop in to update you after. But, uh, clearly, it’s not a great time.

[ Steffy sighs ]

Steffy: You know, just when you think you’re able to, like, move on, close a chapter, some idiot just chimes in and yanks you back to where you were.

Liam: Ooh. Who’s the idiot?

Steffy: Deacon. I think you know how hard this has been. And I’m still just trying to process killing someone. You know, my husband’s biological mother, and I’m really trying to come to terms with that. But it’s, uh–

Liam: And deacon is interfering with that process? Or…

Steffy: Deacon thinks… deacon thinks sheila still may be alive.

Deacon: How did sheila know this sugar person? Lauren, tell me, please! You know exactly who she is.

Lauren: The sugar that I know couldn’t possibly be texting sheila. Or anyone else, for that matter. Because she’s in jail.

Deacon: Why?

Lauren: That is ancient history. And you know what? I do not want to talk about sheila or sugar ever again. And I strongly advise you to forget about sheila and anyone that she could be texting.

Deacon: Wait, lauren, please. I’m sorry. Look, I can see this is upsetting you. I am not trying to stress you out here with bad memories, but I’ve got serious reason to believe that sheila is still alive, as crazy as that might sound.

Lauren: It is extremely crazy, and I’m not listening to it.

Deacon: Please, lauren. No one has history with sheila like you. You may be the one person who can help me figure this out.

Lauren: Oh, because I’m the resident sheila expert? How I hate that title. And I hate knowing what I know about that psychopath!

Deacon: You might not know everything. There’s something sheila did, it was an act of desperation. Something she did recently to stay out of jail. To stay alive. Sheila has nine toes.

Lauren: Yes, I know she cut one off. So, what does some fake bear attack have anything to do with sheila being dead? My celebrity colorist?

Hope: Wait, wait, wait. What– what, um… so, are you– are you seriously telling me that–

Finn: Yeah. Yeah, and your dad is convinced. And like this was seconds before the body was engulfed in flames. And so, there’s no way for him to actually confirm how many toes were on the body.

Hope: Well, then, I mean, obviously, he’s mistaken.

Finn: Obviously.

Hope: Yeah, I mean, there’s no way that he could be… no. No. No. Like sheila, she came here that night. She tried to attack steffy. Steffy had to defend herself, so I don’t know what my dad thinks he saw, but, uh, clearly, he’s wrong. I mean, we all know the person that steffy killed that night was sheila.

Steffy: It is ridiculous that deacon’s telling people this.

Liam: So, like, what’s going on? I mean, is he just losing his mind or something?

Steffy: The man lost his mind when he fell for sheila.

Liam: Uh, that’s fair. But it is weird, right? Like, ’cause he knows exactly what happened. Sheila broke into your place, and she refused to leave, and she came after you, and you–

Steffy: I stabbed her. In self-defense. Deacon knows exactly what went down. Sheila died in my house. There’s no questioning that.

Liam: Well, clearly, in deacon’s mind, there is questioning. Because, uh, apparently he thinks he saw ten toes.

[ Steffy sighs ]

Steffy: Okay, liam, there could be so many explanations.

Liam: I–

Steffy: One being, he saw wrong. He was stressed out in the moment, he saw her body go in, and– I mean, can you really trust your eyes in that situation? Like, deacon is wrong. He is dead wrong. And I say that literally, because I know sheila’s not alive.

Lauren: Sheila faked her own death. Doesn’t that show you how truly insane she was?

Deacon: Or maybe still is. Insane enough to cheat death again. Look, I went to the crematorium, okay? I didn’t want her to be alone.

Lauren: Faithful and misled ’til the very end.

Deacon: It was important to me, all right? I wanted to be by her side one last time. Just to say goodbye. And so I pulled the sheet back to look at her beautiful face, and I said goodbye.

Lauren: I’m sure it was a very special moment for you. Now I need to–

Deacon: Wait, wait, listen. Just as she was about to go into the flames, the sheet fell, exposing her feet. And that’s when I saw it, lauren. I saw ten toes.

Lauren: It’s not possible sheila cut one off.

Deacon: No, it isn’t possible, is it? Because the body that i mourned, the one that I had a– a service for, that wasn’t sheila.

Lauren: Deacon, you’ve got to stop doing this. The body was identified. You saw her.

Deacon: Yes, yes. Once at the morgue, and like I’m trying to tell you, right before she went into the cremator.

Lauren: Then how can you even question that sheila’s alive?

Deacon: The ten toes!

Lauren: You must’ve been seeing things.

Deacon: Don’t you think that I’ve been wondering that too? I’ve been playing this back in my mind again and again. Lauren, I thought I was going insane. I’m telling you, I saw ten toes. That was not sheila.

Lauren: Oh, my god.

Deacon: What?

Lauren: Sugar. When my doctor gave me breztri for my copd

Hope: Okay, well, now I’m– I’m certainly more concerned about my dad if he’s having these delusions.

Finn: Look, I think it’s– I think it’s all part of the grieving process. At least that’s what I tried to tell him. I mean, the power of grief can take the mind to some odd places, sometimes. And this is the way his mind is choosing to cope with the loss.

Hope: By hoping that he hasn’t lost her at all. Is that what you’re trying to say? That he’s just telling himself that he saw what he saw in order to keep some shred of sheila alive?

Steffy: Look, if deacon wants to believe that sheila is alive, fine, but he needs to keep it to himself.

Liam: Yeah, I mean, is he actually going around telling people this?

Steffy: Yes!

Liam: Oof.

Steffy: And it’s so annoying! And it’s really disturbing. I mean, we are all just trying to move on with our lives.

Liam: We all have moved on with our lives, except deacon. I mean, clearly he’s just stuck on it.

Steffy: He’s enamored with sheila. He can’t let her go. He can’t accept that she is gone. I mean, when I think about everything that woman has done to us, just– it’s just–

Liam: Yeah, I mean, I get it. The last thing you need right now is somebody just gaslighting you into thinking she’s still alive.

Deacon: Okay, um, just tell me what you know about sugar.

Lauren: I’ve tried so, so hard to get her out of my mind. It was, uh, so long ago.

Deacon: So, you do know her? Is she from genoa city?

Lauren: Los angeles. Sheila met her in prison.

Deacon: What, was she like her cellmate or something?

Lauren: She was her warden. And it wasn’t long until sheila worked her magic and convinced sugar to help her escape.

Deacon: Oh, my god.

Lauren: And that’s when they resurfaced in genoa city.

Deacon: So sheila and sugar, they were pretty tight-knit. Sheila never said a word about that.

Lauren: Tight? They were one and the same.

Deacon: One and the same?

Lauren: Sheila was in the mental ward, where she belonged. And I went to go see her because I had to make sure it was her for my own peace of mind.

Deacon: Okay, wait, wait. So, what does this have to do with sugar?

Lauren: Everything, deacon. Everything.

Deacon: How? I– I don’t get it. Make me understand.

Lauren: Okay, stop asking questions and start listening. Because you are gonna be as blown away as I was.

Hope: My poor dad. I wish he could just let sheila go instead of trying to convince himself that, what, she’s out there somewhere? I mean, who– who does he think they cremated, then?

Finn: I don’t know. But your father obviously loved sheila very much. You know, there was one thing that he asked me when he was trying to convince me that sheila was still alive.

Hope: What?

Finn: He asked me if part of me still wishes my birth mother was still alive.

Hope: What did you say to that?

Finn: I told him it doesn’t matter how I feel. My birth mother’s gone. Sheila carter’s dead.

Liam: Well, look, deacon’s obviously wrong about this. And if anybody knows that, it’s you.

Steffy: Right. What’s more plausible here? Either deacon didn’t see the toes correctly, or I, I don’t know, I just killed a stranger in my house and told everyone that it’s sheila.

Liam: Also, not to mention, there was a full-on investigation, right? Like, they identified the body. What– what’s he got to say about that?

Steffy: I don’t know. He’s just not living in this reality. I think he’d be saying things differently if he were in my shoes.

[ Steffy gasps ]

Steffy: Sheila, I know it’s you. You stay– you stay away from me. You stay the hell away from me. Get out.

Sheila: No!

Steffy: I’m never gonna forget it. It still haunts me. But deacon is wrong. I killed sheila. She’s dead and gone and she’s never coming back.

Deacon: Figured you for a whiskey gal. So, sheila was in the nut house.

Lauren: For the criminally insane. Or so I thought.

Deacon: Wait, thought? What do you mean thought? Either she was or she wasn’T.

Lauren: Okay, just listen. It will all start to make sense. A few months later, sheila and I were stuck in this–

Deacon: Wait, stuck?

Lauren: Oh, long story. The point is, all that time, I thought she was locked up. And then, I learned…

Sheila: That wasn’t me in the mental institution.

Lauren: But I saw your face.

Sheila: Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase extreme makeover, doesn’t it?

Lauren: Who was it?

Sheila: Very good friend of mine, sugar.

Lauren: Sugar? Who’s that?

Sheila: She was my warden. I convinced her that I was being treated unjustly and she helped me escape.

Lauren: Treated unjustly? After all the horrible things–

Sheila: Do you wanna hear this or not?

Sheila: We– we fled down to south america and that is where sugar sacrificed her face for the cause.

Lauren: How’d you get her to do it?

Sheila: She thought she was going in for a little lift.

Lauren: But instead she came out looking just like you.

Sheila: Well, fortunately, the plastic surgeons down in south america, they’re not quite as honest as the ones up here, lauren.

Lauren: So, you bribed them?

Sheila: Everyone lived happily ever after. Except for sugar. She took my place in hemet.

Lauren: I’m sure she told them she wasn’t you.

Sheila: She’s in a mental institution for the criminally insane. She tells people she’s not sheila carter and they think she’s delusional.

Lauren: My god.

Deacon: What are you telling me, lauren?

Lauren: That there’s someone out there that looks exactly like sheila. Someone with ten toes.

Deacon: Sugar. I was right. It wasn’t sheila that got cremated. She’s– she’s alive. My god, sheila’s alive.

Luna: Here’s a look ahead. I broke his heart.

Brooke: She is not to blame. It was her mother’s drugs.

Finn: You have me thinking.

Deacon: Good, ’cause I’m right. We need to find her right now.

Steffy: Deacon is an idiot if he actually thinks that sheila’s alive.

Deacon: You recognize her, don’t you?

Recap written by Suzanne

Phyllis and Daniel have lunch. They discuss his work problems with Lily. Daniel gets worried that Phyllis has a plan to help him that, as usual, might backfire. She also informs him that she’s moved on with Danny, who chose Chris.

Danny has big plans for them on his music tour, but Chris tells him that an old friend needs her help with a big trial. She doesn’t want to let him down, but she feels this need to help people that she can’t ignore, and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime case. It will take months. She’s really torn. They discuss it. Danny understands because he loves what he does, too. She worries that this is their last chance. He suggests that she sleep on it and decide tomorrow. They kiss. After they have sex, he assures her that they’re meant to me, so they’ll always find each other again, no matter what.

At Victor at Nikki’s party, the Newmans are surprised that Jordan never showed up or tried anything.

Jack is shocked when Nikki lets him know that she’s still drinking and that the Newmans were hoping to lure Jordan to the party. However, Nikki realized during the party that she doesn’t need to drink any more. She feels strong and doesn’t need the alcohol any more because of the love of her family. Victor comes up just as she explains that, but they don’t tell him about Nikki’s drinking or her revelation. Jack thanks him for having an alcohol-free party. Victor is proud of Nikki. Victor and Nikki dance.

Sally tries to make Adam feel better as he worries about Connor. Sally admires how much Nikki and Victor still love each other, after all this time. They head upstairs. He asks her where she sees herself in 40 years because he can see them together for longer than that. They kiss and start to undress.

Nick is surprised that the guards let Phyllis in, since they’re supposed to be extra-vigilant now. She tells him that they recognized her. They have a pleasant chat. Summer is also surprised to see Phyllis. Phyllis hints that there are big things in store for her at Chancelllor-Winters, so Nick and Summer worry about what she has planned.

Jordan follows Claire as she leaves the party.

Michael and Lauren leave the party, so they say goodbye to Victor and Nikki. Victor thanks Nick for all of his help. They all hug. Victor vows to Nikki that he’ll catch Jordan, no matter what. They kiss and say, “I love you.”

When Kyle and Harrison go home, Harrison realizes that he’s lost his lucky charm (his bunny). They look around but can’t find it, so Kyle phones , but they don’t find it there, either. Claire arrives, having found the bunny. She confides to Kyle that she used to have a good luck rock, but Jordan took it away. Kyle feels bad for her and invites her to stay. They sit and have drinks. She talks a little about living with Jordan. She’s glad to have a normal life now. Harrison comes in and is overjoyed to see that Claire brought his bunny back. He hugs her and they all smile. She tells him about other kinds of good luck charms. Harrison asks if Claire can read him a book, so she agrees. Kyle phones Summer to let her know that Claire found the bunny. Summer is not happy to hear that Claire is still there and looks very worried.

While Harrison goes to then bathroom, Jordan (now out of her disguise) chloroforms Claire. A little while later, Kyle is frantic and on the phone with 911. Jack and Diane arrive home and wonder what’s going on, so he informs them that he thinks Claire has taken Harrison.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Ava packs the last of her things at the apartment while Tripp says he still doesn’t understand why she’s moving out. Wendy comes to the door and listens in as Ava tells Tripp that she already told him why but Tripp says he doesn’t buy it and wants the real reason. Tripp asks what kind of trouble she’s in now.

Stefan joins EJ in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. Stefan calls it a wonderful day to be alive as EJ pours a drink. Stefan says he’s going to have Harold get the finest bottle of champagne they have. EJ asks what the occasion is. Stefan responds that he just visited Gabi in prison and he’s feeling optimistic about the future. EJ calls them two criminals. Stefan says EJ won’t bring him down today as he has a new lease on life. Kristen comes in and questions Stefan not being in jail.

Alex works at the Titan office as Theresa enters and asks him to tell her it’s not true. Alex responds that he’s afraid it is. Theresa questions what happened. Alex tells her that Green Industries pulled out of the issue. Theresa complains that they were their biggest advertiser and she worked so hard to turn things around. Alex says he appreciates everything she’s done here but the numbers do not lie and Bella Magazine is failing again. Theresa argues that there has to be something they can do like get a new advertiser. Alex says it’s too late and announces there’s not going to be another issue. Alex hates to say it but he thinks they have to pull the plug on Bella today.

Maggie proposes to Konstantin. Konstantin responds that he is speechless and calls that very unusual for him. Maggie says she just wants to help and she’s not ready for him to leave Salem. Konstantin says he’s so grateful to her and to the universe for bringing them together. Konstantin says he’s touched but he cannot accept her proposal.

Wendy enters the apartment and greets Ava and Tripp. Ava is glad she gets to see her before she goes. Wendy asks if everything is okay. Tripp responds that he’s concerned about his mom and wants to make sure that she’s leaving for the right reasons. Ava promises that she’s not in trouble and that moving has nothing to do with them since they have been wonderful to her. Ava says that she’s moving in with Harris like they are taking their relationship to the next level. Ava adds that she’ll just be down at the Brady Pub so they will still see each other all the time. Ava tells Tripp to stop worrying and insists that it’s best for everyone. Ava then takes her box and exits.

Stefan asks Kristen if EJ didn’t tell her that he cut a deal to keep him out of prison and he was just about to return all of his possessions. EJ points out that’s half of his possessions. Kristen questions why she’s the last person to know what’s going on around here. Kristen asks Stefan if he means their possessions before he stole them from them. Stefan argues that he and Gabi staged a very lawful takeover of their family corporation. Kristen asks what is actually going on here. Stefan suggests she ask EJ, so she asks EJ what he’s up to now.

Theresa asks Alex not to pull the plug on Bella and give them a chance. Alex says it’s not going to happen as he spoke to the client for over an hour and they don’t believe Bella will make the money, so they pulled funding and there’s nothing more they can do. Theresa declares that it’s their loss because she will find an even better multi-national client. Alex tells her that’s not going to happen. Alex says he’s gone over the numbers and it’s not feasible as they are spending more publishing Bella than it’s possible to make. Alex thinks it’s best to take it down before it gets worse. Theresa questions if there’s no changing his mind. Alex says he wanted it to be a success story too but he thinks it’s best to take their losses and move on. Theresa says she gets it. Alex encourages that it’s not the end of the world as he will get her another job. Theresa tells him not to bother as she quits.

Maggie questions Konstantin not accepting her proposal. Konstantin says he wouldn’t want to put her in an uncomfortable position with her family and friends. Maggie argues that if they don’t approve, that’s their problem. Maggie acknowledges it would be a marriage in name only but for all that he suffered because of Victor, she wants to make amends on his behalf. Maggie believes marrying him is the right thing to do and says to hell with anyone who disagrees. Konstantin repeats being grateful for her and says he can accept being a marriage in name only because he would never ask more of her than she’s ready to give. Konstantin then accepts her proposal and they shake hands.

Wendy sits with Tripp and notes that he’s awfully quiet. Tripp says he’s just thinking. Wendy guesses he’s worrying about his mom. Tripp confirms that he is worried between Stefan leaving Ava out of his confession and her sudden moving out, he knows something is up. Wendy questions what it could be, pointing out that she quit the Bistro. Tripp talks about thinking Ava is on the straight and narrow and then it blows up in his face. Wendy says at least Ava won’t be on the side of the highway since she’s moving in with an ex-Navy SEAL and current police officer, so she might be safer living with Harris. Tripp hopes so but says that’s enough about his mom. Tripp asks Wendy about her first day back at work. Wendy responds that it was terrible.

Ava meets Harris for drinks at the Brady Pub. Ava jokes about relaxing after hauling all of her stuff up to his room. Harris tells Ava that they fit together perfectly and kisses her. Harris toasts to fresh starts.

EJ tells Kristen that he doesn’t owe her an explanation. Kristen argues that she’s just as much of a DiMera but EJ disagrees. Kristen says they may not share the same DNA but she’s every bit of a DiMera as he is. Kristen guesses that since EJ got Stefan out of prison, EJ got a great payment. EJ informs Stefan that their public relations department will be issuing a statement from Stefan, resigning the company because of his failings. Stefan asks if EJ has it all figured it out, thinking he buries his reputation and EJ will come out smelling like roses. EJ jokes that Stefan could restore his reputation by doing volunteer work or finally figuring out what to do with the Bistro with all the damage control that he’ll have to do. EJ adds that Ava sent an e-mail that she quit even though it’s been closed for weeks. EJ wishes Stefan and Kristen luck as he then exits.

Alex questions why Theresa would quit, arguing that it’s not her fault but his since he resurrected Bella Magazine to make a point to Maggie that he knew better than she did. Alex adds that he also wanted to make Victor proud since the magazine was named after his daughter Isabella. Alex supposes he wanted to feel closer to Victor’s memory. Alex feels he gave Theresa an impossible task. Theresa appreciates him falling on the sword like that but feels she could’ve done more. Theresa says she was just so distracted with Tate and feels she was just a charity hire. Alex disagrees but Theresa says she was struggling even when she was coming to work. Alex says she just had growing pains but she also had great ideas and everybody here loves her. Theresa repeats that she appreciates it, but she thinks it’s better for everyone if she just finds a fresh start somewhere else. Theresa then exits the office.

Maggie and Konstantin decide they are officially engaged. Konstantin says words can’t express what this means to him. Maggie is just glad she can help and says maybe in some small way, it can make up for what his rivalry with Victor cost him. Konstantin says that was not his responsibility but he is grateful. Maggie says she will talk to her lawyers about how to proceed and getting the necessary forms. Maggie asks to keep this between them which he agrees to and thanks her. Maggie then exits the room. Konstantin remarks to himself that all the pieces are falling right in to place for him to get exactly what he deserves, if he can only find that damn card.

Tripp asks Wendy what’s going on. Wendy thought it would be a good distraction to be back in the office, but says it was a total mess as she was completely useless and was obsessed with trying to find a lead on Clyde but it was a waste of time. Wendy talks about thinking if she dug deep enough, she’d find something but she found nothing. Tripp thinks she’s being hard on herself since it’s her first day back at work. Wendy had a fantasy of being back at the top of her game but says every road she went down were dead ends. Wendy adds that she passed by Goldman’s desk and it would give her flashbacks. Wendy apologizes as she gets emotional. Tripp says she has nothing to be sorry for and he’s sorry that she had a terrible day. Tripp suggests maybe she went back to work too soon. Tripp encourages Wendy to sit back and relax now. Tripp understands her anxiety after being held captive. Tripp suggests maybe it would help if she talked to a professional.

Harris asks if Ava doesn’t want to toast to fresh starts. Ava appreciates his vote of confidence but she doesn’t feel like there’s going to be a fresh start until she finishes this last task for Clyde. Harris asks what they are waiting for then and suggests they go get the book. Harris says they will get the book, hand it back to Clyde and that’s when they will capture him and put him behind bars so he’ll finally be out of their lives for good.

Maggie sits in the living room and looks at her and Victor’s wedding photo. Maggie says that she hopes she’s doing the right thing. Theresa enters, so Maggie greets her and says she’s always happy to see her. Maggie asks if everything is okay but Theresa cries that it’s not and she thought she could burden Maggie with it since she is her sponsor. Maggie says she is never a burden and offers to sit down and talk about it. Theresa informs Maggie that she and Alex have decided so shut down Bella Magazine. Maggie says she’s sorry to hear that but it’s not a surprise since it hasn’t been doing well. Theresa cries that she feels like a total failure. Maggie argues that the magazine was doomed from the start and she tried to tell Alex over and over again. Maggie encourages that Theresa did good work and she’s certain that Alex will find another job at Titan. Theresa complains that she doesn’t want another job at Titan and that she told Alex she quits because she doesn’t belong there. Theresa says she was never qualified with no experience and calls herself a charity hire again. Maggie stops her and disagrees, pointing out that she ran the magazine before. Theresa says it still wasn’t successful back then. Theresa states that she only got the job because she pushed herself on Alex. Maggie tells her that she can’t make a man fall in love with her and that Alex did that all on his own. Theresa responds that now she’s blown that too. Theresa thought everything was coming together and she would be rich, successful, and happy but it turns out that she’s just a pretender. Maggie hugs her and encourages that she’s capable, smart, and driven so she has everything going for her. Maggie feels this is all on Alex since Bella was a sinking ship from the start. Maggie says she will have a chat with Alex but Theresa says she doesn’t need to. Maggie says after she talks to Alex, she’ll see Theresa at the meeting tonight. Maggie tells Theresa that everything is going to be fine as she then exits. Konstantin then enters and asks Theresa for a word.

Tripp asks Wendy what she’s thinking. Wendy says she was thinking about what Tripp said about Ava always finding trouble. Wendy worries that if Ava finds trouble again, she can’t deal with getting caught in the crossfire. Tripp says he couldn’t either but assures that’s not going to happen. Wendy argues that Ava moved across town but not across the globe, so if she gets in over her head again, Tripp is going to want to protect her and he should. Tripp asks what Wendy is trying to say.

EJ approaches Harris and Ava at the Brady Pub. EJ tells Ava that he received her resignation from the Bistro and passed it along to Stefan since he will be running the Bistro full time after being bounced from DiMera Enterprises. Ava asks if he knows about the Bistro reopening. EJ says he doesn’t know when or care. EJ then asks Ava to hand over the keys, so he can pass them on to Stefan.

Kristen asks Stefan if he’s really going to let EJ steamroll him like that and take over the business that he worked so hard for. Stefan feels he has no choice as it’s either resign or get fired since he can’t imagine the board would love having a convicted felon for a CEO. Kristen admits she can’t argue with that. Stefan then brings up that Kristen is a pardoned felon, so while he can’t be CEO, there’s no reason she can’t be. Kristen likes where this is going. Stefan says he does too. Kristen tells Stefan that they will make such a winning team. Stefan agrees and declares that he will help Kristen knock the CEO crown off EJ’s head, which they toast their drinks to.

Maggie goes to Titan to see Alex. Maggie says she’s sorry to barge in but she just spoke to Theresa, who told her about Bella. Alex knows that Maggie is dying to say she told him so and tells her to lay it on him.

Konstantin tells Theresa that he just overheard her chat with Maggie and asks if she’s having a sudden attack of conscious, reminding her of their agreement. Theresa argues that he’s not holding up his end but Konstantin reveals that he is, as Maggie just proposed to him. Theresa doesn’t believe him. Konstantin says they are forbidden from spreading the word as they want to savor the status before letting the world enjoy it. Theresa can’t believe that Maggie would be gullible enough to fall for a con artist like him. Konstantin argues that he cares about Maggie. Konstantin points out that Maggie is already giving away her half of Victor’s estate and since they set up Alex getting the other half of the estate while he’s entitled to her half. Theresa is sick of the deception and suggests this doesn’t work for her anymore. Konstantin tells her to walk away after she gets the money, or else Maggie will find out that she kidnapped her grandchild. Theresa says that was only because he blackmailed her and declares that if she goes down, Konstantin is going down with her. Konstantin warns Theresa not to play games with him and to stick to the plan or else she will live to regret it.

Tripp asks Wendy what she meant about Ava. Wendy says she knows that he will always be there for Ava and he should be as her son and family is very important to her too. Tripp says he knows that. Wendy reveals that earlier today, she spoke to her dad and he’s finally starting to sound like himself again. Wendy says that her parents are still grieving, but he told her that they are both trying to get on with their lives. Tripp calls that great news. Wendy adds that her parents are both very fragile and it affected them when they heard they almost lost another child, so she’s scared of hurting them again. Wendy admits that she’s tired of always worrying and having to look over her shoulder to wait for bad things to happen.

Ava tells EJ that she doesn’t have the keys to the Bistro on her at the moment and she would prefer to return them to Stefan himself and cut out the middle man. EJ says he was just trying to save them the awkwardness and suggests that maybe Ava relishes in the fact that Stefan took the fall for her misdeeds. Ava responds that Stefan made his own bed. EJ argues that they all know Harris is the one that floated Stefan that deal to keep Ava out of the charges and then he would not have Stefan prosecuted for trying to kill him. EJ thinks that was egregious to sacrifice an open and shut case to save one of Clyde’s minions. Harris argues that EJ made the deal to set Stefan free and asks how he got him to do it or what Stefan is holding over his head.

Stefan guesses Kristen wants the CEO position, calling her highly ambitious and addicted to status and power. Kristen says he would be correct and asks what Stefan will want in return. Stefan wants Kristen to help him get Gabi out of prison.

Maggie tells Alex it’s not her style to gloat and that she came here to congratulate him on making the right decision at long last. Maggie adds that she’s also there to present another chance to make the right decision. Alex says he’s listening. Maggie says they haven’t always seen eye to eye, but she wants him to bring her back on at Titan. Maggie knows the company has been struggling since Victor’s death, but she wants to make it as successful as it once was. Maggie declares that she believes they can right the ship together.

Theresa tells Konstantin that she never should’ve agreed to their agreement, but what she hates most about it is him lying to Maggie. Konstantin says he is fond of Maggie but argues that under different circumstances, everything that Victor amassed should’ve been his anyways and soon, it will be. Theresa advises Konstantin to run far when he does get that money because no one in Salem will want anything to do with him, especially Maggie. Konstantin says that’s fair but there’s an important piece of business that has come up since he arrived. Konstantin calls it an opportunity to avenge a great loss but there is something he must find to make that happen and he will not be leaving Salem until he does.

Wendy tells Tripp that she’s always considered herself strong and cool under pressure as she hates being afraid. Tripp tells her that fear is totally normal and healthy. Tripp calls her one of the strongest people he’s ever known, but even the strongest people feel fear and uncertainty at times. Tripp encourages that she doesn’t have to go through it alone as he’s always there for her. Tripp promises that it’s going to be okay and hugs her as she cries.

Harris guesses that Stefan has something on EJ and decides he’s going to make it his mission to find out. EJ thinks he has enough missions already. EJ reminds Harris that he knows the truth about his deal with Stefan and suggests they stay on his good side or else their irregular activities will see the light. EJ warns that Harris would at least no longer be an officer of the law. EJ then exits the Pub.

Kristen laughs at the idea of Stefan wanting her to help him get Gabi out of prison and calls that insane. Stefan jokes that she’s a little insane so she’s overqualified for the job. Kristen questions how he proposes going about that. Stefan points out that Kristen got herself out of prison semi-recently. Stefan asks if Kristen wants to be the head of the DiMera Empire and says she’s got this. Stefan asks if they have a deal. Kristen responds that she’ll think about it. Kristen asks if Gabi is innocent. Stefan says he’s never been more certain about anything in his life. Kristen responds that if Gabi didn’t kill Li Shin, the simplest way to get her out of prison would be to find out who did. Stefan says there’s nothing simple about it since the police have exhausted every lead while he and his private investigator have come up empty. Kristen assures that she will find a way as she then exits.

Recap written by Suzanne

At home, Finn tells Steffy that he already picked up dinner, so they can just heat it up for a romantic evening when she gets home late from work. When Steffy realizes he got the food from Deacon, she guesses that he’s still saying that Sheila might still be alive. Finn tells her that Deacon is still struggling with Sheila’s death. After some discussion, he assures her that he’s focused on her and the kids now, not Sheila or her death. They kiss and say, “I love you.” He tells her that he’ll give her a back rub later, and then they go back to talk about Deacon and Sheila.

Lauren is in town again, visiting Eric. She asks about his health, so he tells her that he’s doing well. She mentions once more that they’re so lucky not to have to worry about Sheila again. She lets him know that she saw Steffy last time she was visiting. They discuss her and Finn, and then Eric mentions that Deacon is not celebrating Sheila’s death. She can’t believe that he fell for her. Eric reminds her that he once did, too. Lauren reminds him that he was conned by Sheila, not knowing she was a psycho (unlike Deacon). They both agree that they beat Sheila by surviving her.

Deacon keeps wondering who Sugar is. He does a search online but doesn’t find anything. He wonders again if he’s going crazy, but he’s sure that he saw ten toes, so he vows not to give up looking for her. Later, Lauren finds him look at Sheila’s picture on her computer while he thinks. She tells him to detail that photo and any reminders of Sheila. He knows that she had a bad history with Sheila, but he knew her differently. She’s glad Sheila’s gone, but he wonders if Sheila could still be alive. They go through what happened (with Steffy stabbing Sheila). Lauren is walking out when Deacon asks her if she knows someone named, “Sugar.” She stops, shocked, and looks at him. It’s clear that she knows the name.

Zende keeps arguing with RJ to forgive Luna for sleeping with him. RJ gets annoyed and tells RJ that he stabbed him in the back. Zende says that he’s sorry that he betrayed his cousin, and he hopes that he forgives him one day. He urges RJ not to blow his relationship with Luna. RJ also blasts Poppy for her drug use. Zende and Poppy leave Luna and RJ alone to talk. He asks her why she didn’t tell him right after it happened. She wishes she had, but she explains that she didn’t want to ruin his relationship with Zende. He tells her that he needs some time. Luna agrees, looking miserable.

Billy: Hey.

Chelsea: Hey.

Billy: Hi. Glad you could get away. You want to, uh, you want to grab a table?

Chelsea: No, actually, I just came to tell you I’m so sorry I have to cancel. I only have a few minutes.

Billy: Oh, okay. Is it to do with connor?

Chelsea: Yeah, his therapist wants to do a video meeting today to talk about his status and talk about his treatment.

Billy: Okay, well, hopefully that’s a good thing. At least you’ll know what comes next.

Chelsea: It’s driving me crazy, billy, not being able to talk to my son when I want to.

Billy: Yeah, I know, I hear you. But maybe the doctor will give you a little better timeline on that, you know? When you can actually talk to connor directly.

Chelsea: Yeah, I’m desperate to know what’s going on. What are his days like? Is there any progress? But I’m also so anxious. I mean, there’s so much I don’t understand.

Billy: I hear you, chels. It’s hard to be behind the curve, you know, especially when it’s your kid. But again, hopefully, the doctor tells you something that’ll put your mind at ease.

Chelsea: Well, hearing about connor’s treatment isn’t the only thing I’m worried about.

Billy: Okay, what else is there?

Chelsea: I’m not doing the call alone.

Adam: Are you ready to hear what these so-called doctors have been doing to our son?

Phyllis: Baby, summer, I know this is horrible, but you have to calm down. You have to. Harrison is going to be found between jack and victor and everybody he’s gonna hire. He will absolutely be found. Okay, well, do you know what? Let me come with you. No, just– okay, just for– okay, I won’T. I promise I won’T. You know what? Have you told your brother about any of this? Okay, I promise I won’t say anything. No, I promise. I’ll let you take care of it, really. I won’t do something crazy, I promise.

Devon: Hey, hey.

Lily: Hey.

Devon: You called us in because you want to have a meeting?

Nate: I hope it’s to celebrate our latest earnings report. Pretty spectacular, right?

Lily: Yeah, the numbers are great. But, uh, no, unfortunately, I have bad news.

Devon: What’s wrong?

Lily: Well, daniel is making good on his threat. And he is suing us to keep control of princess louisa and other games on the omegasphere platform.

Devon: Well, that’s great. What does, um, what does legal have to say about our position in it?

Lily: They’re saying the contract is clear and ironclad. I mean, we own all the intellectual property related to our gaming division.

Devon: Okay, that’s a good thing then, right?

Lily: Yeah, but I mean, I’m sure heather, who, shocker, is daniel’s attorney, is gonna try to find a loophole. But our legal team is confident that she’ll lose. And so am I.

Nate: Any chance this will stay out of the business press?

Devon: I highly doubt that. Why?

Nate: I mean, is it worth really going to war with the guy? Maybe we should give daniel what he wants.

You can’t leave

without cuddles.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Billy: You know, these are actual doctors taking care of your kid. You know, respected and accredited.

Adam: This video call is just gonna be the two of us, right?

Chelsea: Right. Billy is not gonna be on the call, if that’s what you’re asking. But he’s right. These are doctors trained to deal with the things that connor’s dealing with.

Adam: But they don’t know our son, not like we do. And I just– I don’t want them to forget that.

Chelsea: You’re right. We’ll make sure we give them insight into our son. Because, yes, we know him better than anybody.

Billy: Okay, well, it sounds like you’re both on the same page, so I’ll head back to the office. I’ll talk to you in a bit.

Chelsea: Bye.

Billy: Bye.

Adam: So, shall we do this?

Chelsea: Not until you promise me you will drop the attitude and the resistance. Adam, you have to go into this with an open mind.

Adam: Of course, I have an open mind. I’ll do my best.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Daniel: Shouldn’t you be back at the apartment doing some last-minute frantic packing?

Danny: Well, actually, there has been a change in plans.

Daniel: Oh, how big of a change?

Danny: Not small.

Daniel: Don’t tell me that my rock star father’s gonna hang up his keyboard, cancel the tour, and possibly move back to genoa city full-time.

Danny: Sorry, son. Your dear old dad is gonna be a rock star forever. No matter where I live. Some things just never change. But, um, yeah, I, uh, I have had to push my travel schedule a bit while cricket decides if she’s even gonna go.

Phyllis: Oh, while cricket decides. My goodness, cricket is waffling yet again.

Lily: Sorry, you don’t think it’s worth it to fight the lawsuit? I mean, omegasphere is a huge reason why our profits are so great right now. Why would we just give daniel what he wants?

Nate: I am aware of the financial ramifications, but daniel did create the flagship game. Hell, he built the whole division. And you’ve already taken away his job to punish him. Isn’t that enough?

Lily: I’m not punishing anyone. I’m sorry, he was fired for the sake of company unity and morale. Okay, what are you– what are you trying to say? That I should– I should reward him for hurting me?

Nate: No, no, I’m not defending what daniel did or how he handled it. I understand you’re upset, but I want you to take a moment and think about how this could play out. Think about the spin heather would probably put out there. Do you really want to be accused of destroying someone’s career because of a bad relationship? Out of spite? That’s not who you are or what this company should be.

Billy: Oh. Daniel versus goliath lawsuit? With us as the big bad monster? It’s not a good look, which is what I’ve been arguing from the beginning.

Lily: Yes, we know, billy, thank you.

Billy: Makes you look petty, and it opens up the opportunity for people to question your leadership, which does not mirror the trust that we all have in you.

[ Lily laughing ]

Lily: This is ridiculous. Sorry, how did I become the bad guy in this situation?

Chelsea: What? I’m nervous. I don’t wanna look like a mess on the outside just ’cause that’s how I feel on the inside.

Adam: You look good. You look calm.

Chelsea: Yeah?

Adam: Yeah.

Chelsea: Adam, I know you have doubts about this facility, but you promised you would hear the doctor out. You won’t fly off the handle, right?

Adam: Okay. Are you ready? Okay.

Hammond: Good morning, chelsea. Adam.

Chelsea: Hi, dr. Hammond, good to see you. Oh, I– I didn’t realize you would be alone. Um, did the rest of connor’s care team give you updates and reports?

Adam: Yes, we were hoping to get as much information as we can on how connor is doing. You know, what his day looks like since we cannot talk to him ourselves, to ask questions.

Hammond: I understand. And chelsea, to answer your question, yes, connor’s ocd therapist, his trauma therapist and I are always working in tandem. And I hope to answer any questions you might have.

Adam: Trauma therapist. Why does he need that? I told myself I was ok

Daniel: Are you meeting someone or picking up takeout?

Phyllis: Um, are you saying that you want me to go?

Daniel: No, of course not.

Phyllis: Well, thank you for the invite. I’d love to stay with you. So the bug is backing out, is she? Interesting. I’m not shocked by that. I mean, I’m sure that no one can see her living, you know, a carefree life, living life on the edge, letting it all hang out.

Danny: Phyllis, you don’t know the whole story.

Phyllis: I don’t?

Danny: No, you don’T.

Phyllis: Oh, what am I missing?

Danny: Christine was offered a very important case. And right now, she’s deciding whether or not she should take it.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. So you’re holding up your entire tour on her deciding whether or not she should take a case? Wow. You’re putting your career on hold for the bug. She’d never do the same for you, by the way. Never.

Danny: Not that it’s any of your business, all right, but we’re leaving a little early so we can have a few days before the first concert. I didn’t cancel any shows by pushing the trip back, okay?

Phyllis: I am going to make a bet with you. I’m gonna make a bet, um, an order of empanadas, that she chooses her career over you.

Chelsea: Well, that’s new, isn’t it? A trauma therapist? How did that come about?

Hammond: We’re really still getting to the root of what’s happening with connor. And he’s a smart, funny, charming kid. He’s taking part in activities and watching his nutrition, his caloric and protein intake.

Adam: And– and that is great, but can you tell us about connor’s trauma?

Hammond: In his first sessions with dr. Majors, the trauma specialist, evidence emerged of comorbidity.

Adam: Comorbidity?

Hammond: Two or more medical conditions that exist simultaneously. In connor’s case, it’s ocd and trauma. It’s a bit early to be definitive, but there’s a possibility that the presentation of connor’s ocd was a response to traumatic incidents. I want to be clear. Connor’s ocd doesn’t exist because of traumatic events.

Chelsea: But trauma helps open the door?

Adam: You– you keep throwing around these words, trauma, traumatic incidences. What instances are you talking about? I mean, what did– what did we do?

Chelsea: Adam, please.

Hammond: There’s many ways ocd manifests. And it can be very different from one patient to another. There’s no way to know when or in whom it’ll show up. And no one is to blame. But it does mean we have a couple of avenues to pursue for treatment.

Adam: Okay, so you don’t know what the trauma is or what it is doing to him, so why don’t we first focus on what, if anything, you do know for sure?

Hammond: That’s fair. In connor’s case, what we’ve learned so far beyond his fear of contamination is that he carries an overwhelming sense of guilt. The ocd has him believing that things that have happened between and to his parents are his fault.

Chelsea: No.

Hammond: The pain and concern is complex and deep. It’s led him to question why he was even born.

Lily: How am I the villain in this? Okay, daniel cheated on me with a woman who is now his attorney. Is that not a conflict of interest, right?

Billy: And now, you just fired that attorney for what can only appear to be personal reasons.

Lily: I’m the one who recommended her for the job in the first place, despite her being daniel’s ex.

Billy: But lily, you just fired her for being his current. And unfortunately, I feel like I have to point this out, but this is professional concern for me, not personal judgment.

Nate: I have to agree. Lily, we’re merely pointing out scenarios that could adversely affect the company. Would it be so terrible to just let daniel have what he’s asking for? Let him walk away with what he brought to the table.

Lily: What he brought to the table? Do you know what he brought to the table? He brought an idea, okay, and some artwork. Do you know what we brought? We brought, uh, the team, and coders, and designers, the office space. Okay, we funded the whole platform. And if we take that away, that undermines all the work that we’ve done. And to rebuild one is way too expensive. We lose time in the marketplace. I mean, it doesn’t make sense to get rid of our highly profitable gaming division.

Nate: Omegasphere will survive losing two or three of its video games. The division will be just fine.

Lily: That is not true because we don’t have any games in development to replace the ones that we would lose, okay? We would be stagnant for months, maybe even years.

Billy: Which could still be better than you being painted as a scorned, vindictive co-ceo. You don’t want to be seen that way. As someone that would rather chase after their enemies than run an empire.

Lily: Uh, devon, hello. Can you help me out here? Because I mean, this is smart business, right? If we give up the gaming division, we’re not just losing out on a few video games. We’re losing out on merchandise. Book rights, movie rights, trading cards. I mean, we’re giving up the whole store.

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: Right?

Devon: You’re right. Yeah. And I agree with you.

Lily: Thank you.

Billy: If it wasn’t me arguing that point, devon, would you still agree with your sister?

[]

Devon: Uh, billy, are you implying that I’m making business decisions only to contradict you? ‘Cause nate wants to do a deal with daniel. So should I take that personally and make my decisions about him?

Billy: Devon, it’s a simple question. You know what pisses me off the most is that the winters are in here having a meeting about a major company issue without me. No warning, no fair play, nothing. If I didn’t walk by and pop my head in, I would have no idea that this company is headed for a train wreck. Not to mention the pr nightmare when the media gets a hold of this, which shouldn’t be very difficult.

Devon: Billy, you don’t have to act like you have to be a part of every single conversation that happens in this building. Get over yourself, man. Seriously.

Billy: Sure.

Lily: Please stop, okay? This is a huge waste of time.

Nate: Yes, you’re right. We need to keep this from devolving into a shouting match. We need to stay focused on the issue at hand. A decision has to be made on how to proceed from here.

Lily: Yes, nate, I’m aware. But we’re not gonna decide based off the winner of billy and devon’s argument. What we should do is go to the board and let them weigh in their vote. Let them decide if we should give daniel what he wants or take him to court.

Danny: You know, I still can’t believe that lily fired you over what happened with you and heather.

Daniel: I knew that was gonna happen. She didn’t want to see my face at the office every day.

Phyllis: But that was a cheap shot.

Danny: Yeah, your mother’s right. It’s very unprofessional and not like lily at all.

Phyllis: I’m right? See? We see eye to eye. Wow. Let’s ask christine what she thinks– oh, we can’t ask her because she’s more interested in her career.

[ Phone pinging ]

Danny: Hey, you guys, uh, yeah, I’ve got to, um, I got to get going.

Phyllis: Oh, was that the queen bug? Is she summoning you to her castle with all her royalty?

Danny: Goodbye, phyllis. I’ll see you at home, okay, daniel?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: See ya. See ya.

Daniel: Didn’t you say that you had finally accepted the fact that you and dad are never gonna be a thing and you had moved on?

Phyllis: Uh, yeah, and?

Daniel: So, I guess that was just a big old lie, huh?

Chelsea: How could he wonder why he was born?

Hammond: It’s one of his intrusive thoughts, something his ocd says. I know how hard this must be to hear, but I want to be as honest with you as possible so you understand what he’s up against with his ocd.

Adam: The ocd that we caused by the trauma that– that we inflicted on him. Is that what you and your team of specialists believe?

Hammond: Not at all. It’s a lot to process and can feel impossible when you know your child is in pain.

Chelsea: But what trauma are you talking about?

Hammond: We don’t know yet.

Adam: So, what’s the plan here?

Hammond: We think the best approach is to treat each disorder separately, but simultaneously. Oftentimes, the ocd and trauma are feeding off of each other, so we need to address them both.

Chelsea: But how did this happen?

Adam: Yeah, what did– what did we do wrong?

Hammond: As parents, you need to refrain from trying to find blame. It would be unhealthy and unproductive.

Chelsea: I still just don’t understand what we’re supposed to do, like how we’re supposed to help connor get better.

Adam: Yeah, you– you say that he is acclimating, but we don’t have any idea what that looks like.

Chelsea: Yeah, we haven’t spoken with him. We’re not– are we allowed to see him sometime soon or?

Hammond: Connor is a very strong and determined kid. One of the therapeutic tools we use is journaling. We’ve encouraged connor to write down his thoughts and fears. Today’s assignment was to write down the top three things that scare him the most. Writing about them will force him to explore how they make him feel.

Adam: And that’s supposed to help?

Hammond: I understand your concern, but you have to trust the therapy. It’s been very successful with patients suffering from the same disease. This is the first step. It’s what’s known as erp.

Chelsea: Yeah, the, um, exposure response prevention we’ve been hearing about?

Hammond: That’s right. We’ll expose connor to the things he fears so he can slowly build the tools he needs to handle them as others do.

Adam: Forcing him to repeatedly experience the things that trigger his ocd. Now, how is he supposed to get through that without us by his side? I mean, how are we supposed to get through that?

Chelsea: If it’s the thing that’s gonna make our son better, we have no other choice, do we? Slowing my cancer from growing

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. Do I love speed walking?…

Devon: All right, are you sure that you want to take this to the board? ‘Cause I think this is something we should probably handle ourselves.

Nate: I concur. We should hash this out right here without getting the board involved. The fewer people who know–

Billy: And I agree with lily. I think taking it to the board is a good idea. We’ll get the smartest compromise and the fairest solution.

Devon: Which means he thinks the board is gonna vote his way.

Billy: Well, I guess we’ll find out, won’t we?

Nate: Sorry about that. Didn’t mean for billy to overhear what I thought was a private conversation.

Devon: It’s– it’s fine. I’m glad you gave your honest opinion, though.

Nate: Thanks.

Lily: Okay, now that it’s just the two of us, be honest with me.

Devon: Hm?

Lily: If billy hadn’t been here arguing against my decision, would you have sided with me so easily?

Chelsea: It’s all so much. How did connor carry this with him for so long?

Adam: Yeah, well, I still have to wonder if they know enough about this disease to know for sure what works.

Chelsea: They have experience, adam. Like with any illness.

Adam: Yeah, ocd and trauma. And they’re gonna work on it separately, but together. I mean, come on. Connor deserves more than just– just guesswork.

Chelsea: It was me, wasn’t it? My issues. The rooftop. This all started with me, didn’t it? I think connor blames himself for my problems.

Adam: Chels, the doctor said that the ocd was inside of him, that it was gonna come out at some point. You know, it’s everything that connor has gone through.

Chelsea: Oh, god, I know dr. Hammond says we can’t blame ourselves, but how can I not?

Adam: I mean, he thought his father was dead, for god’s sakes. And then I just showed up. I mean, he was held hostage at gunpoint. He had to go to therapy for that, too.

Chelsea: No, adam, it all started with me. It started with me that night on the roof. And I put myself into therapy. I told connor the truth, ’cause I thought– I thought that was the right thing. The doctor said that I should be honest, but maybe– maybe that was the wrong thing. That combined with everything, you know, rey’s death, finding out that johnny was his brother.

Adam: We thought that we were protecting him, okay? We tried to see it, but we didn’t, okay? All the chaos that he’s been through. I mean, it’s too much to take for an adult, much less a kid.

Chelsea: It’s no wonder he’s so traumatized.

Adam: Hammond said the word trauma is often misused and overblown, but it’s really not in our family.

Chelsea: How did we not see that our son was suffering so badly?

Phyllis: I have moved on from your father. I have, you know? I just– I do care about him. And honestly, christine will hurt him.

Daniel: Well, dad’s a big boy, and he can take care of himself. He doesn’t need you worrying about him or feeling sorry for him.

Phyllis: Okay, well, I’ll just negate all of my feelings then and shut my mouth.

Daniel: What’s really going on here, hm?

Phyllis: A lot going on.

Daniel: How much of it is work-related? Because I’m sorry. I know you were sideswiped by this whole thing, and your job, it shouldn’t be at risk because of me.

Phyllis: Hm. Let me guess. They know about your lawsuit.

Daniel: Well, they should be worried about the lawsuit. Heather thinks we got a solid case and that we can win it.

Phyllis: Good. You go after everything you can get.

Daniel: I just want what’s fair.

Phyllis: Um, I have some inside information, and your mess is not the only problem at chancellor-winters right now. Just know that. Consider yourself lucky that you got out and you’re moving on to greener, healthier environments.

Daniel: Yeah, well, I hope so. We’ll see.

Phyllis: I wonder what they’re talking about right now. Maybe it’s something that could be useful. Not for you, of course, just for me.

Daniel: Maybe we should slide over a little closer and see if we can eavesdrop a little bit.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness, I’d never do that. Don’t be silly.

Daniel: You’d absolutely do that if I wasn’t here right now. You think that they’re talking about something that could mean good news for you.

Phyllis: Who doesn’t want good news every now and then?

Danny: Hello, gorgeous.

Christine: Hi.

Danny: I was, uh, super thrilled to get your text. So, tell me, have you made a decision?

Christine: Um…

Danny: Oh, I’m sorry. Wait. Before you say it, I– I almost forgot. I’ve got something for you.

Christine: No, you didn’t have to get me anything.

Danny: Oh, no, I did. This is special just for you. It is an official concert t-shirt. Yes, I know it’s cheesy, but I was thinking, you know, you could wear it front row. Or if you don’t, you could do it side stage, in the wings, whatever you prefer. And as soon as I finish my show, I will come straight to you, my love. Wow.

Chelsea: We are here, and connor is there. There’s nothing we can do for him except allow his team to take care of him and do what’s best for him. We can’t sit down and talk to him. We can’t tuck him in at night. And I know he’s been at boarding school before, but this is different because we know he’s not okay.

Adam: They figure out his trauma. They figure out his treatment. I mean, they– they unravel everything that is wrong with him. Then what? What if this treatment leads him to hate us, chels?

Chelsea: Adam, no. Connor wouldn’t hate us. He– he loves us, and he knows we love him. And if– if something happened where he suddenly hated us, we’d work through that, too.

Adam: And what if we can’t? What if we can’t? What– what if this– he looks at us, and– and he blames us for all of this misery.

Chelsea: What– what are you saying? If connor eventually– when he eventually learns to manage his ocd and trauma, and he’s living a happy, healthy life, but yet he– he still hates us anyway?

Adam: Yes.

Chelsea: No, what do you want him to do? Just push everything down, pretend he’s okay, so we’re not worried?

Adam: No, that’s not what I’m saying.

Chelsea: He has to get better, adam. Connor’s ocd is not going away. It is always gonna be inside him. But he will learn to have the tools to get better and live a happy, healthy life, okay? But we can’t make this about us. We can’t make this about our– our insecurities and our fears and our– our guilt. We have to do what’s best for him. We have to do whatever it takes, whatever he needs.

Adam: And what if what he needs is to never see us again?

Connor: 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69.

Chelsea: I don’t believe that would ever happen. They’re not gonna take connor from us.

Adam: If we are the triggers–

Chelsea: They will give him tools to manage that. Our son is coming home to us.

Adam: And what if when he’s 18– what if when he’s 18, he comes and he says, “thank you for the trauma, but I’m never gonna come home again?”

Chelsea: You are being irrational, adam. No, these are your dark thoughts, and I can’t have this conversation.

Adam: Fine. But we can’t avoid this forever, either.

Danny: I really hope that you’re leaning in my favor. Just tell me what I can say to convince you. Please. Anything to, you know, tip the scale my way.

Christine: This isn’t about me not wanting to go with you. You know I do.

Danny: Then just go. I will dedicate every song to you. Put you front and center on stage and I will serenade you every night in front of everyone. Every love song that I’ve written will be sung to you. Anything and everything that your heart desires.

Christine: Oh, gosh, you’re always so loving and generous, and you– you make me feel adored. But, danny, this– this client needs me. I– I can’t walk away from this case any more than you could walk away from your tour.

Danny: Yeah. I mean, obviously, I’m disappointed, but I really do understand. And your client is very lucky to have you. I hope they know that, all right? They are getting– they’re getting the best of the best.

Christine: You’re really sweet to make me feel better. And I wish I could’ve told you what you want to hear.

Danny: I was just really looking forward to us spending time together. You know, I’d been thinking a lot about how much incredible fun that we would have together and…

Christine: Yeah.

Danny: You know?

Christine: Hey, it’s not like this is the end for us.

Danny: No. No. Never.

Christine: Okay, so I was thinking, maybe I can come on weekends every now and then. I mean, that’s better than nothing.

Danny: Yeah, of course. Yes.

Christine: Why don’t we go and, um, and make the most of the time that we have together before you go?

Danny: Well, that’s an offer that I can’t refuse.

Devon: Yes, I would have still sided with you either way.

Lily: Thank god. I really am alone in this, aren’t I?

Devon: No, you’re not alone. You’re not alone at all, because I hear everything you’re saying about us needing to hang on to our valuable ip. Makes perfect sense. But billy and nate also made really valid points. ‘Cause heather has the ability to really make us look bad in all this. And if we settle and give daniel what he wants, we get to avoid all that and avoid going to court. And I think it’s just– at this point, about us trying to not let things get ugly.

Lily: Devon, don’t you realize? Things have already gotten ugly. And I don’t plan to lose out on anything else because of daniel and heather ever again.

Phyllis: Why would you care if I want to exploit some conflict in a company? A company that dropped you like a hot potato.

Daniel: I just don’t understand why you would want to be entangled in an already contentious situation. One that’s only gonna be more complicated by your son’s own lawsuit.

Phyllis: Well, I’m not entangling myself in anything. And don’t think you know what’s going on up here.

Daniel: Oh, no, no, I can see those gears turning.

Phyllis: Can you?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Then watch this. Hello, gentlemen. Hey, I’m gonna go right to the point. Um, I actually am shocked by these firings, my son and heather. I can’t believe that lily and devon would fire them over something so petty. I can’t imagine that the two of you would condone such firings. Hm? Nothing comes close to this place in the morning.

Nate: I don’t see what business it is of yours, what we think. Sure, you want to defend your son. I get it. But this is a business move.

Phyllis: Oh. What do you think about that, chance?

Chance: It’s above my pay grade.

Phyllis: Oh, above your pay grade. Well, congratulations, new on the job, and already mastering the art of corporate doublespeak. Yeah, you know what? I’m gonna ask billy what he thinks. What do you think billy thinks?

Chance: You’d have to ask him.

Phyllis: I will. You see, it’s just interesting because I’ve been hearing that there’s a lot of, um, discontent going on in the chancellor-winters c-suite.

Nate: Oh, there’s nothing going on you need to worry about.

Phyllis: Okay, I won’t worry my pretty little head. I’m still a chancellor-winters employee, nate. So, I guess I’m gonna have to get together with billy and ask him what’s going on myself, see where he stands. Maybe he’ll give me an actual answer.

Devon: Lily, this is gonna get as ugly as you want it to get.

Lily: If I got what I want, daniel would have resigned, okay? And there would be no talk of a nuisance suit.

Devon: Right, but you understand that he has a case, ’cause you fired him without cause, right?

Lily: What do you mean? There was plenty of cause. He cheated on me while I was helping my daughter through an emotional trauma, okay? And did I throw a fit? Did I– did I, you know, break stuff? No, I graciously accepted the situation for what it was.

Devon: Yeah, yeah, I can’t argue with that.

Lily: Okay, and now daniel wants to fight me, all right, and let his girlfriend trash me in the court of public opinion? Well, let them try, okay? Daniel is not walking away with anything. I am tired of playing nice.

Billy: There you go. So, you want to talk about the conversation with the doctor?

Chelsea: There’s no way to know what’s really going on in someone’s head, is there? No matter how much you love them, no matter how many times you’ve held their hand and watched them fall asleep.

Billy: What did the doctor say?

Chelsea: Connor’s been diagnosed with both ocd and trauma. Not only are they treating him for one thing, they’re treating him for two.

Billy: I’m sorry. I’m sorry, chelsea.

Chelsea: Yeah, adam was pretty good on the call. But then afterwards, he, uh, he’s afraid that by pushing connor through this program, we’re gonna lose him.

Billy: What? Why would he say something like that?

Chelsea: He thinks connor’s gonna resent us. Be angry with us for everything he’s going through. Not just the illness, but the treatment. It’s our fault.

Billy: Okay. This is not your fault. Adam is gonna have to figure out another way to process all this without dumping all his panic onto you. That is not what is gonna happen.

Chelsea: You can’t know that. I mean, what if after this whole journey, connor decides he’s better off without us?

[ Phone ringing ]

Adam: Sharon. Hi. Yeah, it’s me. Um, I was wondering if you could, um, can you help me before I make things worse?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

okay. There you go. Thank you so much for understanding. Ms. Spencer. Uh, please call me carly, right? So, how’s it going back there? Don’t quit. Please don’t quit. Katrina and i are making it work. Okay. I just came out to keep the barbarians at bay. Well, keep up the good work. Yeah. Are you sure that I can’t help with anything? No, no, I want you focusing on studying. Study for that pre-final, please. Okay. Katrina’s great, but is she qualified to take over for the cook? Yeah, yeah, she knows her way around a kitchen. I just wish the stove was working. There’s no stove?! Mnh. And I keep trying to call the usual repairman, and he is on an emergency. Okay. This is an emergency. I have a jack-of-all-trades. At least I used to. You have to complete the jst in under 4 minutes and 28 seconds. Any questions? Ready whenever you are.

[ Whistle blows ] You best kick whoever’s sitting at my desk out of my chair because I am on my way. That is right — I am back. All right. [ Laughs ] Yeah. Hey, finn. Hey, dante. How’d it go? Yeah, yeah, good. I just got a clean bill of health, actually. I’m on my way back to work now. Good. That’s — that’s good news. I’m sure chase will be happy to have his partner back. Yeah. Yeah, should be good. Uh, are you okay, man? No. No, no, I’m not okay. Everything’s not okay. I — chase’s bachelor party just went sideways. And I don’t know what to do. Mm. I was meaning to tell you. I’m almost done with the video teaser for the kevin hoover opening. Ah. Great. I can’t wait to see it. Look, trina, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the extra time that you’re putting in at the gallery. Thank you. I’m happy, too. I mean, I’m not in school, so [Chuckles] And, um, you know, I got to start saving up for things, like my own place.

[ Cellphone rings ] Oh. Really? I didn’t — I didn’t realize…

[ Ringing continues ] Need to get that? No. [ Chuckles ] No. If it’s important, they’ll call back.

[ Water running, running stops ]

[ Sighs ] And I’m telling you, frank — tell your ma to use arnica. It’s gonna help her lumbago. Arnica. Got it. The only issue is, she’s gonna have to stay off the garlic while she’s using it. I don’t think my mother could sacrifice garlic.

[ Laughs ] I know what you mean. My ma is the exact same way. Boss, miss cerullo’s here. Mm. Yeah, I think I know that, frank. Bye. You’ve never met a stranger, have you? Oh, no. Come on. They’re only strangers until you say hello.

[ Chuckles ] I love hearing people’s stories, which is exactly why I’m here. Something’s off with you. So what’s your story?

[ Telephone rings ] Yes? He’s here now? Yeah, send him in. Ah, commissioner devane. Well, thank you for agreeing to see me. What brings you here, mr. Renault? My duty as a citizen. Um. When I was attacked at all saints chapel on new year’s, I wasn’t prepared to make a statement, but, uh, after talking it over with my sister, I’m, uh… I’m ready to make one now. I see. Well, you can… we can do it here. Oh. Thank you. I-I have to inform you that, once you make the statement, you know, it will be — it will be officially evidence and may be used to prosecute your attacker. Understood.

[ Beeps ] Present — commissioner anna devane, taking a victim statement. It is, oh, april 17, 2024. Would you state your name for the record, please? Cyrus renault. Mr. Renault, can you identify the individual who assaulted you on january the 1st, 2024? I can. I-I… I was attacked by, uh, sonny corinthos.

Look, don’t get me wrong. I-I love my parents. I love my grandfather with all my heart. You know I do. I know. I just think that it’s time that I found a place of my own. I mean, I can’t be a kid all of my life, right? Well, that’s true. Children have to grow up. Parents have to let them. I just wonder, though, if this is a good time for you to be alone. I mean, I know that it’s — it’s hard to process a loss like yours without some solitude. I also know that — that there is such a thing as being alone too much… where the space that you want becomes a void. Yeah. I hear what you’re saying. And I appreciate it. But? But… between my family and joss and my family and you and — did I mention my family? Yeah.

[ Chuckles ] I think I’m good. I’m good. And I don’t think a little self-reliance is — is a bad thing. Just

when I thought I couldn’t be prouder of you. Oh, speaking of space, I’ve been dying to ask…

[ Chuckles ] How are you doing living at sonny’s?

[ Chuckles ] It’s okay, I guess. Really, I — I suppose when you spend so much time fighting with somebody and then you’re forced to be together and there’s a child involved and — you just get used to each other. Well, miracles do happen.

[ Laughs ] Yeah. They certainly do. And we’ve settled into a routine. Sonny relies on me, avery does, too, of course. Well, I’m glad you two are making things work. In the meantime, I have to go open up the gallery. Right. Oh, and since we discussed business at breakfast, it’s a write-off. Why do you think I’m off? I mean, it’s not like my life isn’t going incredibly well. I know you’re going through it. Yeah? I do, okay? But it doesn’t explain why you haven’t responded to my only daughter’s wedding invitation. ‘Cause you know how much brook lynn wants her “uncle dimples” to be at the most important day of her life, right? Yeah. So why you gonna leave your favorite niece hangin’? I was just thinking of just sending a gift. Ohh. Yeah. Oh, send a gift instead of coming. Oh, okay. So — so what’s that gift gonna be? What, a-a gravy boat? A toaster oven? Spatulas? No, I was — I was gonna buy her an espresso machine. I think she’d love that. Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Eh. Well. You know. She loves you. I love you. Yeah. You’re my oldest friend, you know, from the neighborhood. And the wedding, it — it wouldn’t be complete without you. I don’ t want to ruin the dayfor you and brook lynn. Oh. Oh, okay. So this is — this is about me and — and about brook lynn. It doesn’t have anything to do with you being seated next to one of the growing list of people that you can’t stand being around anymore? Hm?

[ Whistle blows ]

[ Rock music plays ] Hey. How are you? With everything? With the breakup? That. I mean, losing spencer. Trina moving out. I’m fine. I’m fine. I-I appreciate you asking, but you have more important things to worry about. Okay. I hate when you do that. There’s nothing more important than you. Okay. More urgent then. I will be fine. Your customers, not so much.

[ Chuckles ] Oh. Help has arrived. Where? Thank you for getting here so fast. Yeah. Please tell me you brought the help. I am the help. We’re doomed. Josslyn.Thank you for the vote of confidence. Your brother is a capable young man. Yes, he’s capable of picking up his platinum card. I just don’t know about a wrench. I think I’m gonna go back to the office, where I’m appreciated. And then mom can call her new boyfriend to help.

So, I called everybody on the list, and I invited them to show up at the savoy tonight. Yeah, yeah, it sounds like it’s gonna be a great night, man. Right? Just found out the savoy is booked for a private event tonight. Do you have a plan b? Plan b? No, I don’t have a plan B. I was all-in on plan A. I mean, who books the savoy on a weeknight? Alright. Look. We can — we can — we can still salvage this thing. W-what did chase say he wanted his bachelor party to look like? You know chase, right? Nothing fancy. No strippers. Of course. Right? And he said no techno music.

[ Chuckles ] Other than that… other than that — we can work with “other than that.” We can? Yeah, of course we can. Look. Look. Don’t worry about a thing. I was just gonna go do boring desk work at the pcpd anyway. Now I got a case. “The mystery of the missing bachelor party.” That’s right. My first assignment. Time.

[ Beep ] How’d I do? You’ll get your results from both the written and physical tests after they’ve been reviewed. You did well. Has mom told you about the new man in your life? Who’s this mystery man? Some fbi agent. Oh, my gosh! How serious is it? I’d say it’s pretty serious. I mean, I have it on good authority that they’ve already graduated to sleepovers at the metro court. Ohh! Okay. That is enough! On whose good authority did you hear this? Nina. Oh. Well, I should have guessed. This is just like that time where willow and tj were having that torrid affair. Exactly. So are you gonna go in the kitchen and fix my stove? Yeah. I’ll take a look at it. Right. You can do some damage in there and stop doing damage out here!

[ Laughs ] So…? Nothing! I was — I was driving to the coffee warehouse, and I saw this man being attacked. Thank you, shelby. Thank you. Okay. Mr. Renault, if you would review and sign, please. -Sure. -Okay. Here we go. Uh, commissioner, as I say here in my statement, I do not believe the young man in scrubs who visited my hospital room was G.H. Personnel. Uh… is there something that you want to add? I have since discovered that he was, in fact, working for sonny, and while I can’t prove it, I believe he was sent by sonny to do me harm. Then again, no harm came to me, at least not that day, so… yes, I-I am aware of the situation. And for what it’s worth, I happen to know that the young man in question has severed all ties with the corinthos organization, entirely. Well, I’m relieved to hear that. Okay. Okay. Thank you. So, uh, what happens now? I’ll make a copy for you, and then I will file the statement. And do I need to make arrangements to leave town for my own safety? Oh, no, this information will remain confidential for now. Uh, but not forever, hopefully. Until I find the best possible use for it. Lab tech stewart:

Applied analytical labs. Hello. Uh, I-I just missed a call from a stewart. Can you connect me, please?

I’m stewart. Yeah, well, I’m calling about, uh, sample number h6784.

Uh, yes, like I said

in my message,

we completed the analysis

of the capsules you sent us. Uh, can you tell me the results?

If you don’t mind my asking,

where did you get

those capsules? It’s my husband’s medication. We got it at the pharmacy. I explained all this when I called. Is there a problem? It appears the compounding pharmacy made an error. W-what kind of error? Each capsule has an imprint code that tells us the name and dosage of the medication that’s supposed to be there. Supposed to be? The contents of the capsule match the imprint code — it is indeed lorphenadine, but the dosage should be 50 milligrams. Well, h-how much is it? Closer to 10 milligrams. 10? 10 milligrams. Your husband is getting less than a quarter of his prescribed dosage. If this is a pharmacy error, they failed to satisfy their standard of care. Well, thank you. You have been very helpful.

[ Cheers and applause ] Oh, hey! Oh, yeah. Thank you. Thanks. It means you remember who I am. Thank you. Ah, look at this. Look at this. Oh, wow. This will, uh… this will make for some good kindling at the fireplace back home, whoever’s responsible for that. Who do you think? I-I’m guessing it was that guy, yeah. Welcome back. Thank you. It’s good to be back. Yeah. Even though I’m probably looking at, uh, doing a lot of filing. Oh, yeah. We’ve been saving it all up for you. I’m sure you have. Yeah. Want me to start with whatever that is? Oh, no, it’s okay. I’ve, um — I’ll handle it. You just got settled, yeah? Yeah. Oh, oh, hey. Uh, chase’s bachelor party — tonight, hatchet range. Oh, a bachelor party? Isn’t that more of a guys’ thing? Yeah. Ah, come on. Whatever. That’s old tradition stuff. Yeah, see, it’s the tradition part that… oh, oh, yeah, like, no — no strippers or anything like that, but drunk people throwing axes. God, it sounds so tempting. Doesn’t it? Mm. Yeah, it really does. Why are you having this? I thought finn was his best man. Oh, he is, but he tried to book something at the savoy, but someone’s actually booked up, like, the entire club. On a weeknight? Yeah, that’s what he said. So, uh, anyway, we want to give chase a good sent-off. Could you, uh, help spread the word, do you think?

[ Chuckles ] Sure. Yes, absolutely. Okay. I got, uh, calls to make, I guess. Yeah, no personal calls, ’cause time theft is still theft, right? Right. Yeah. You know, um… but we can agree that celebrating chase’s final day as a single man constitutes as, uh, police business, right? All right.

[ Dialing ] Listen, one of these days, I’m paying for breakfast. I don’t know when. I don’t know how. But I’m gonna make it happen. Okay, well, you are more than welcome to try.

[ Laughs ] Hey, I have a question for you. Yeah. You liked living with josslyn, right? Yeah, I loved it. Why? Well, I’m just thinking maybe she’s ready to move off-campus, too. Maybe the two of you could get a place together. I love that idea. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it myself. Yeah. It could be perfect. And when her boyfriend comes to visit her, there’ll be a lot more room. Oh, I didn’t — I didn’t tell you. Joss and dex broke up. Oh, they did? What — what happened? Long story. But the craziest part is that dex is now trying to become a police officer. Dex wants to be a cop? Mm-hmm. Talk about a change in direction, huh? Right. Nobody could be more shocked than joss. I can think of somebody who will be. I’m fine with all kinds of people. Oh, yeah, yeah. I can see you dancing the funky chicken during the reception next to ned — hey! — And michael — hey, michael! — And tracy. You don’t have to list all the people.

[ Chuckles ] Come to the wedding, sonny. Rise above your petty grievances. My grievances are not petty. They are when you compare them to the magnitude of my daughter’s heart, and to the joy she should be guaranteed on this, the happiest day of her life. You need to put up with those people who, in turn, have to put up with you. That’s what I’m talking about — all those people. That’s the point. A large celebration like that is — is, you know, there’s safety issues. And I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m a target right now.

[ Sighs ] Agent cates may not be my favorite person, but I didn’t want to hear from olivia that housekeeping found him on the couch in a coma the next morning. Is that him? Uh, yeah. You study. Hey. Hi. Um, so, can i get you something? No. No, you have given me plenty. It’s, uh — it’s time I finally gave you something in return. Here’s your copy. What, do I frame it? The department understands your legitimate concerns about your safety. And just to let you know, I will give you a heads-up when I intend to charge mr. Corinthos. I appreciate that. You’re welcome. I would wish you well, but… but you don’T. And with a history like mine, how could you?

I know that safety is paramount, which is why security has already been handled. Who? Some of yuri’s people. They– they’re enormous. I’m telling you, sonny, I gotta book a trip to belarus during beach season. But with his people and your people, it’s gonna be the safest wedding in years. So, please, can I tell my daughter that you will be attending her nuptials? Well?

[ Chuckles ] Fine. Fine! Fine! Wonderful. All right. Uh, oh! Will you be bringing a plus-one? Ah, hello, lois. Frank said you were visiting. Ah, ava.

[ Chuckles ] You’re still here. I hadn’t realized. Yeah. For the time being, yeah. Ah, okay. Well, I just figured you’d want a place of your own, you know, something that better suits your aesthetic. Lois, I’m here because sonny insisted that avery and I be here for our safety. Yeah. Yeah, but things have been quiet recently, right? You know, and lucy coe — she is such a great real-estate agent. I’m sure she could find you and that adorable daughter of yours a place, lickety-split. Or maybe you want to stay at a suite at the metro court hotel, you know, since your bestie nina co-owns the place. Ooh.

[ Chuckles ] Those are really terrific suggestions, lois. Thank you for thinking. Oh, yeah. Well, you know, I’m here to help. Ciao. Okay. You have something for me? Uh, first off, my sincere thanks for rescuing me the other night. Oh. Well, I mean, you know, if it stopped you from falling into a coma or bleeding all over the upholstery, it was worth it.

[ Laughs ] Carly: Not that I really care what… oh, look, it’s mom’s fbi agent.

[ Chuckles ] Back so soon? What — did you already get a grease stain on your egyptian cotton? I’ll have you know, I scoured all the build-up off the burners and the gas jet. I’m just waiting to see if katrina and hunter can get the stove going again. I get the sense that you really enjoy being right. Oh, yeah.

[ Laughs ] Absolutely, especially when other people have to admit it. Mm.

[ Laughs ] You don’t think that she actually likes him, do you? Uh… no, I’m just — I’m just — I’m just messing around with her. But still, I-I think we should keep an eye on that guy. Officially, we can’t talk about the results, but I can tell you that I admire your decision to quit sonny and apply to the force. Thank you, sir. I read in your application file that you did a tour in afghanistan? That’s right, sir. “Detective” when we’re at the station, and you can call me “chase” when we’re on the street. I’ll remember that, detective. Anyway, I never, uh, did the service myself, but I can’t imagine what you went through. But you lived it. And you’re here now. And I admire that. Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. Yeah, hatchet range. 8:00 P.M. You gonna be there? Okay, good. Do it. And just keep it on the downlow. It’s gonna be surprise for the guest of honor. Okay. How much did you hear? About my super-secret bachelor party at the hatchet range? I didn’t get the time. Did you get the time, dex? I did, actually. It was at 8:00. Great. I’ll see you there if you’re free. Thank you, detective. Detective. Dex. Mr. Renault. I almost didn’t recognize you without your scrubs. So, um, do you have any suspects in the attack? As a matter of fact, I know exactly who’s behind it. Really? Who? You. E-excuse me? See, the way I see it, ms. Spencer, you planned that little beatdown as payback for me coming to your door with a search warrant. And why would I do that? Well, isn’t it obvious? Give me a warning. You want a warning? Call first. I don’t have your number. So, I guess I’ll have to give you mine.

[ Knock on door ] Is this a good time? You’re always welcome. What — what can I do for you? Oh, well, I am glad you asked. Um, planning brook lynn’s wedding has become a full-time job. Yeah. And I was hoping that maybe you could help me tick one little item off the list. If I can. Please. Oh! Okay. Well, I wanted to inquire about the rehearsal dinner, which happens to be something that is traditionally organized by the groom’s family. A-absolutely. Don’t — uh, don’t worry. My — my dad and I, we’re — we’re on it, yeah. Oh, good. Okay, ’cause, you know, I was a little worried about broaching the subject. No, no, no. It’s, uh, totally under control, completely under control. Matter of fact, I think my dad e-mailed all the details to tracy. Ah. Well, okay, see, originally, we were planning on doing the rehearsal dinner over — on coney island. No, w-we’re aware, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So, of course, everybody who lives in bensonhurst could easily get to coney island, you know, seeing as how the rehearsal dinner is the night before the wedding, and the wedding is gonna be here in port charles… here. Right. Uh, tracy had offered up the elq jet, which might be a violation of wedding etiquette, but since my family doesn’t own a jet and chartering buses would mean everyone arriving in coney island just in time to turn around and come all the way back… mm-hmm. Yes, exactly. And listen, the jet is essential, and I’m very happy that tracy stepped up. So, um, here’s the favor that I would love for you to ask your dad for me. Mm-hmm. Anything he happens to e-mail tracy about the wedding, um, would he mind bcc’ing me on all of it? That way, I know what’s going on without tracy having to know that I know what’s going on. Ah. I will pass along the suggestion. Oh, good. Okay. And maybe — maybe you could also have him forward me the e-mail that he sent to tracy about the rehearsal dinner, you know? In case tracy gets busy with, you know, whatever tracy happens to get busy with. That I can promise you. Thank you so very much. Oh! Yeah. I cannot tell you how excited I am for you and your dad and my future son-in-law to meet the whole bensonhurst posse. Oh, we’re already fastening our seat belts. Oh, well, yeah, you actually should.

[ Laughs ] You know, it actually feels like this — this wedding is coming together. Oh, yeah. Fingers crossed, right? Um, hey. Do you mind if I ask you just one more thing, if you don’t mind? How’s your dad? So, how’s the studying going? I haven’t looked at it. What’s the deal with your fbi buddy? How badly was he hurt when you found him? Pretty bad. Would have been worse if I hadn’t found him. And do you think that was random? They didn’t take anything. He still had his cash, credit cards, phone, and gun. Where’d you find him? Couple of blocks from corinthos coffee. So, do you think sonny’s behind it? I don’t know. It could have been random. Could have been sonny. And if he’s gonna do that to an fbi agent, then imagine what he’s gonna do to dex when he finds out that he’s becoming a cop. Oh. Ooh, is that what I think it is? Heller’s application, physical and psych exam report, and standard test scores. Well, can you give me the cliffs notes? Heller’s in the 98th percentile of academy applicants. This year? Ever. Really? Wow. I was right about him. Yes, commissioner, you were right — about his skills. Oh, but you still have reservations. Okay, let’s hear them. You look exhausted. Although, who wouldn’t be after a visit from lois? Who happens to be one of my oldest friends. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I admire her… high-spiritedness.

[ Laughs ] Do you? Yeah. Yeah, I do. She is very…vibrant. That said, I, um — I get the feeling there’s precious little lois admires about me. She’s just — she’s just overprotective of me. Does she have a point, sonny? About what? Well, is it — is it safe for avery and me to leave? Have we overstayed our welcome? Should I be looking for another place for us? Well, I mean… that’s up to you. I mean, I’m not in a rush. Well, good. That’s very nice to hear. I like having you and avery here, both of you, ’cause I can — I can keep an eye on you. It’s funny. Wasn’t very long ago that you… keeping an eye on me would have been out of suspicion.

[ Laughs ] Well, you know what? Uh, I gotta say that I, uh… I-I appreciate you looking out for me. What kind of lookout would I be if I didn’t ask you if you took your meds this morning? I gotta get on that. Yep. Hey, uh, sonny. Do they make you sleepy? They used to. Not anymore? No, not anymore. I-I think I’ve gotten used to them. Why do you — w-why do you ask that? Looking out for you.

[ Laughs ] Yeah. Ah.

[ Exhales sharply ]

You’re concerned, and you have every right to be. But this is dex’s decision, and you’re gonna have to respect it. Uh, bad news. Oh. Hunter, katrina, and i tried everything. Either you need a new stove, or there’s something wrong with the gas. There’s no — there’s no pilot light. There’s no gas whatsoever. Oh. All right, well, I’ll have to try the gas company and call the repairman again. Thank you so much for trying. Yeah. Sorry I couldn’t help, mainly because I’m not gonna hear the end of it from josslyn. Mm. You know you’re always my hero. And you’d also be mom’s hero if you bought her a new stove. Ooh! Oh. All right, I’m gonna call the repairman. Let’s see.

When you don’t like what you see

and if you look at us now my dad has stopped sharing any medical updates. Oh, that’s not good. I’m so sorry. No, no, it’s, uh… it’s all right. I, um… I think he’s been, uh, keeping things to himself to avoid putting a — a damper on the celebration. I think in many ways, this wedding is what’s keeping my dad going. Oh, I think that’s beautiful. Just like his invocation is gonna be beautiful. I’m sure it will be. Listen, I-I know when brook lynn and chase asked gregory to officiate the wedding, he agreed only on the condition that they arrange for a backup, you know, just in case. Mm-hmm. And, uh, I know that they haven’t actually done that. So… would you like me to arrange for a backup? Quietly? Uh…yes. Thank you. Um… yeah, my dad’s right, you know. Um, whether he’s sharing what his doctor’s saying or not, a — a backup is probably a good idea. Yeah. All right. Hey. Hmm? I’m on it. Not that we’re gonna need it. If nothing else, sheer force of will is gonna see my father through the day. Mm. Okay. Hey, uh… I’m sorry. I’m just — I’m glad you’re back. Ah, me too, man, even if it is desk duty. Anywhere, brother. Brother. Ah! Your brother’s gonna kill me, man. Oh, come on. I can act surprised.

You? You can? Yeah. Watch.

[ Laughing ] Oh, my gosh! That’s what I thought. You’re just — you’re too honest, you know? What’s wrong with that? Nothing. It’s a great quality in a cop. It’s a terrible quality if you’re pretending to be shocked to see all your friends hoisting a drink to celebrate your, uh, impending wedding. You probably have an idea of what I was doing in your room at G.H. Well, I have my suspicion. I’m sorry for that. I took a wrong turn in my life. And I’m — I’m trying to correct it. That’s why I’m here. What a coincidence. You know, I came here to the pcpd so I could do the very same thing. Applicants like this don’t come around very often. I know. That was my impression, too. By every objective standard, dex heller could make an excellent cop, assuming he doesn’t need police protection himself. All right. I feel pretty good. There you go. Oh, thank you. Uh-huh. You know, it’s amazing that, out of everybody on the planet, you’re the only one right now that I would let into my daily routine. Well, I consider that trust quite an honor. Where did you go this morning? I took trina out to breakfast. Oh, yeah. How’s she doing?

[ Sighs ] She’s okay. I mean, all things considered. Poor kid. Yeah. She did tell me something pretty interesting. What’s that? Well, don’t kill the messenger. Are you aware that dex heller is joining the pcpd?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Ah. Uh.

Hey. Hey, Tripp, honey. Ah. I see you’re all packed. Uh, yep. This is the last of it. Oh, and, um, I left you my meditation pillow. Something for you to remember me by. That’s not funny, mom. Come on, I’m just trying to lighten things up here. You’re so serious. Yeah, because I still don’t understand why you’re doing this.

Why you’re moving out. Baby, I already told you why. I know you did. But I don’t buy it. So, just be honest with me, please. What kind of trouble are you in now? Ah, Broski. Isn’t it a wonderful day to, uh, Ah, Broski. Uh, better make it a double. You mind pouring me one of those? You know, on second thought, I think I’m gonna have Harold run down to the cellar and grab the finest bottle of bubbly we got.

Oh yeah? What’s the occasion? Occasion? I just visited Gabby in prison and I’m feeling Pretty optimistic about the future. Oh, how romantic. Two criminal lovers. One incarcerated, the other having evaded justice. You’re not gonna bring me down today, Captain Cynicism. No, I have a new lease on life. Stephen, aren’t you supposed to be in jail?

Tell me it’s not true. I’m afraid it is. Oh, my God. What happened? Green Industries. They decided to pull out of the issue. They said it didn’t align with their brand. It was very last minute. Yeah, no kidding. I mean, they’re our biggest advertiser. I’m I have worked so hard to turn things around, Alex. I know you have, Theresa.

I’m sorry. Can we get Green Industries on the phone? There’s no point, Teresa. They’re out. And I appreciate everything you’ve done here, I really do, but the numbers do not lie. The magazine’s failing. Again. Well, there has to be something we can do. Like, maybe we can get a new advertiser to take some of the pages in the new issue.

It’s too late. There’s not going to be another issue.

As much as I hate to say this, I think we’re going to have to pull the plug on Bella. Today. Constantine

Melionis, will you marry me? Maggie! I, uh, I am speechless. It’s very unusual for me, as you know. I just want to help, Constantine. And I’m not ready for you to leave Salem. Nor am I, Maggie. I am so grateful for you and to the universe for bringing us together, but As time goes by Touched as I am in good conscience, I cannot accept your proposal.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Hi. Hey, Wendy. Hey, I’m so glad that I get to see you before. Yeah, it’s everything. No, I’m concerned about my mom, as you know, and I want to make sure that she’s moving out for the right reasons. Okay. I know what you two may be thinking, but I promise you, I am not in any kind of trouble. All right? And this move, it has nothing to do with the two of you.

You guys have been great. You’ve always made me feel welcome here. It’s just, I think it’s time that mommy was no longer underfoot, you know? I know. Okay, and it’s not like I’m shacking up with some stranger. I’m gonna be moving in with Harris. Kind of like we’re taking our relationship to the next level, you know?

Oh my god, glum face. All right, I’m just gonna be down at the Brady pub. We’re gonna see each other all of the time. All right, so please just stop worrying. It’s for the best. For everyone.

Hey guys.

Did our brother not tell you? EJ, our esteemed district attorney, cut a deal to keep me out of the Crossbar Hotel. And he was just about to return to me all of my worldly possessions that he tried to, with such zeal, purloin from me. Half eel possessions, Stefan. Do be accurate. Uh, why am I the last person to know what’s going on around here?

And what is this business about EJ trying to purloin your possessions? I mean, wouldn’t they be our possessions before you stole them from us? Okay, well, since we are in the business of being completely accurate, Gabby and I staged a very lawful takeover of our family run corporation. Spoken like a dollar store Gordon Gekko.

Oh, God. Wall Street? The movie? Oh, you guys are such jerks. All right, um, the point. So what? is actually going on here. Why don’t you ask our dear brother? All right. Dear brother? What are you up to now? Alex,

wait, please. Please don’t pull the plug on this yet. Please just give me a chance. It’s not gonna happen, Teresa. I spoke with the client for over a half an hour. They don’t believe that Bella can expand its circulation enough to make it cost effective for them. They already reallocated the funds and I did everything short of getting down on my hands and knees begging.

There is nothing more we can do.

Okay. Okay. You know what? It’s their loss because I’m going to find an even bigger and better multinational client and, and with our 10 year vision, I can Hey, hey. It’s not going to happen. And I admire the tenacity, I really do. But I mean, I’ve gone over all the numbers. It’s not economically feasible. Hey, we’re spending more publishing, Bella, than it even has the potential to make.

Even though I didn’t go to Wharton, I know that’s not a good thing. So I think it’s time to take the right down before it gets even worse. There’s no changing your mind. Sorry. Look, I wanted this to be a success story, too. I really did. But I think it’s best if we just take our losses and move on.

Okay, I get it. Okay. Hey, Teresa, it’s not the end of the world. I’m gonna get you another job. You know what? Don’t bother.

I quit.

You won’t accept my proposal? No, Maggie, I cannot. I would never want to put you in an uncomfortable situation with your family, your friends. Constantine, if my family and friends don’t approve, that’s their problem. That’s not mine. And yes, this will be a marriage in name only, as you know. But given all that you’ve suffered because of my late husband, well, I feel like I need to make amends on his behalf.

I believe that marrying you is the right thing to do. And if anyone disagrees, to hell with them. Oh, Maggie. I am so overwhelmed by your graciousness. And as far as the marriage being a name only, well, I will accept that. I would never ask anything more of you than you feel ready to give. Okay, then. Well, the only thing left for you to do is to say yes.

Yes. I accept your kind and beautiful proposal.

I will marry you. Okay. And here you go.

You’re awfully quiet. I’m just thinking. You mean worrying. About your mom. Yeah. Yeah, I am. I am worried about her, obviously. I mean, Between Stefan leaving her out of his confession, and then the sudden decision to move out, I think something’s up. In fact, I am, I am sure. But what is it? I mean, she quit the bistro, she, I mean, Wasn’t accused of any wrongdoing.

No, but my mom is just, you know, one thing after the other and just as soon as you think that she’s on the straight and narrow, it’s boom, something just blows up in her face. Okay, well at least she won’t exactly be standing by the side of the highway with her thumb out, you know? She’s moving in with an ex navy SEAL, current police officer.

She might be safer living with Harris. So, You know, I didn’t think enough about my mom. So, let’s talk about you. How was your birthday back at work? In a word? Terrible. Mmm, Yeah. Oh, this is nice, huh? It’s nice just being able to kick back and relax after hauling all of my stuff up to your room. I’m just glad we found a place for you, Yooka Laylee.

And everything else. Yeah, I was never worried. Well, I was kind of. I was kind of worried.

Ava. You and I, we, uh, we fit together. Perfectly.

Alright, so, what should we toast to? Do you mean, um, besides me being able to hog the blanket every night? Which I do not mind, by the way. Hey. At all. Good. So what do you think? Two, uh, fresh starts.

I don’t owe you an explanation, Kristen. Oh, well, that’s where you’re wrong, dear brother. I am a DiMera as much as you are. Not really, blood is thicker than water, right? Okay, that is Seven. That is a vile thing to say. You know, we may not share the same DNA, but I am every bit of a DiMera as you are. And let me guess, hm?

Since our dear brother, the oh so ethical district attorney offered you a deal and got you out of prison, I bet you got a great payment, didn’t you? What, the CEO job? Half the DiMera fortune? Oh, I must inform you, Stefan, that our public relations department will be releasing a statement from you that you are resigning from the company effective immediately due to your own personal failings, your being a convicted felon, your inability to right the ship, et cetera, et cetera.

Got it all figured out, don’t you? You befoul my reputation and you come out of this whole thing smelling like a rose with that smug smile. Well, you can certainly restore your reputation, Stefan, by, um Doing some volunteer work, perhaps? Working in a soup kitchen? Oh, better yet, you can finally figure out what you’re going to do with the bistro!

That ought to occupy your time, what with all the damage control you’ll have to do. Which reminds me Ava sent me a rather curt email informing me that she quit, not that that was any great loss. The place has been open for weeks. Anyway, good luck to both of you. Kisses.

Why would you quit? Theresa, what happened? It’s not your fault. If anybody’s, it was mine. Come on. We both know that’s not true. It is true, I’m the one who resurrected the magazine just to make a damn point. To Maggie. To prove that I knew better than she did. It wasn’t even so much a business plan, as it was like an ego thing.

And I also wanted to make my father proud. You know, since the magazine was named after Isabella I suppose I wanted to feel closer to him. Through his memory. Anyway, I gave you an impossible task, Teresa.

I really appreciate you falling on the sword like this, I do, but I could have done more. I was just so distracted with Tate and Come on, let’s just admit it, I was a charity hire. No, that is not true. Yes, it is true! It is! Even when I was coming in to work, I was, I was struggling. Mightily, you know that.

Theresa, come on. You had some growing pains. Who cares? You also had some great ideas and everybody here loves you. No.

I, I really, really do appreciate you, Alex, but I think that, I think it’s better for you and for everyone if I just find a fresh start somewhere else. Teresa. So. Teresa.

So we’re officially engaged then. We are indeed. Words cannot express what this means to me. I’m just, I’m just happy that I could help you, Constantine. Like I said, it’s, it, in some small way, maybe it’ll make up for, I don’t know, for what your rivalry with Victor cost you. It was not your responsibility to do that.

Nonetheless. Well, so now I just have to have a word with my lawyers to, um, find out where, how we proceed and the necessary forms that all that. And in the meantime, do you think we could keep this between us? Okay. Of course. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Okay.

All the pieces are falling right into place. For me to get exactly what I deserve. Now if I could only find that damn card.

Okay, now you’re going to tell me, what’s going on.

I thought it’d be a good distraction. You know, being back in the office. But I was a total mess, Tripp. Like, I was completely useless. I just, I had this tunnel vision the entire time. I was obsessed with trying to find a lead on Clyde. And? Oh, waste of time. No, I just kept falling down all of these internet rabbit holes, and digging up similar cases, and thinking that if I dug deep enough, if I just hacked into one more server, maybe I would find something.

But nada. Well, I think you’re being really hard on yourself. I mean, this was your first day back at work. No, I know, but I just had this fantasy that I’d be back at the top of my game. But every road I went down, they were dead ends. And then, and then, I’d pass by Goldman’s desk, and I’d see her demonic face, and then I’d get these heart palpitations, and I just couldn’t breathe, and it was like we were back in that tank.

I’m sorry. I hate being like this. I hate being like this. No, hey, hey, hey. You have, you have nothing, nothing to be sorry for. I’m sorry that you had such a terrible day. Maybe, maybe you went back to work too soon.

Okay, but hey, hey, you’re not, you’re not at work right here, right now. So I want you to sit back and just relax, okay? And look, I know you know this, and I’ve said this before, but it’s anxiety. Actually, we were held captive, and it is totally normal. Yeah, I know. I’m talking to you, aren’t I? Maybe.

So, no toasting fresh starts. Look, I do appreciate the vote of confidence, but I just, I don’t feel like there’s going to be a fresh start until I finish this last task for Clyde. Okay. So what are we waiting for? Let’s go get the book. You got the keys, right? I do, yeah. Okay, so we’re gonna walk in, we’re gonna get the book, we’re gonna hand it back to Clyde, that’s when we capture him, we put him back behind bars, and he’ll finally be out of our lives for good.

Oh. Oh, Victor.

I hope I’m doing the right thing.

Hey, Maggie. Teresa! Um, Henderson let me in. But if now’s a bad time, then No, it isn’t. It isn’t. I’m always happy to see you, you know that? Is everything okay? Hmm. No, not really. But I figured since you’re my sponsor, maybe I could burden you with hearing about it. You’re never a burden. Now, come on. Let’s just sit down and you tell me what’s wrong.

Okay? Okay. Okay. Come on. Come on.

Okay. It’s about Bella. Ah. Alex and I decided to shut it down. Um, I’m sorry to hear that, but it’s not a surprise. It hasn’t been doing well. No, it hasn’t been. No. I can’t feel like a total failure. Well, you’re not. You’re not a failure. I mean, the magazine was doomed from the start. I tried to tell Alex over and over again.

No, I know. It was Barely successful back then, but But? But? Come on now. You did good work. You know that. And I’m certain that Alex is going to find you another job at Titan. I don’t want another job at Titan. What? I told him I quit. Why? Because I don’t belong there. Oh, of course you do. I don’t, I never did.

I was never qualified. The job listing was, must have x amount of years in research and has to have worked x amount of years for this and that and prefer a master’s degree and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I, I never, I never had any of that. I was just a charity hire. Stop it. You are not a charity hire.

For heaven’s sakes, you ran the magazine before? Yeah, and again, it was not successful back then. Far from it. So really, if I’m being honest right now, the only reason that I got the job is because I pushed myself on Alex. And there you go, running yourself down again. Come on, Teresa. Come on, Teresa. You can’t make a man fall in love with you.

Alex did that all on his own. Yeah, well now I’ve blown that too.

I really thought that everything was coming together. I thought I was going to be rich and successful and happy.

Turns out that I’m just a pretender.

Oh honey, stop that. Mm mm mm.

What am I gonna do with you? Teresa, you are capable, you’re smart, you’re driven, you have everything going for you. I know you’re feeling demoralized right now, but the truth is, this is all on Alex. Bella was a sinking ship from the start. And you know what? I’m gonna have a chat with Mr. Kiriakis. Oh, no, you don’t need to do that.

Oh, listen, after I talk with him, I’ll see you at the meeting tonight.

Okay, I’ll be there. Okay! Uh, now chill out, okay? Everything is going to be fine. Okay. Miss Donovan, may I have a

word with you?

Are you cold? Are you cold? You know, it’s a little chilly in here.

How’s that? That’s great. Come on, I can see gears turning in that beautiful brain of yours. What are you, what are you thinking about? Actually, I was thinking about what you said. About your mom, how she’s always finding trouble.

Intrepid. If she finds it again, I don’t think I can deal with it. With getting caught in the crossfire, I mean. Yeah, I couldn’t either. But that’s not, that’s not going to happen. She moved out for one thing. No, she moved across town, she didn’t move across the globe. Look, if she gets in over her head again, and we both know that’s bound to happen, you’re going to want to protect her.

And you should.

What are you What are you trying to say?

Oh, well, hello there, you two. EJ. Ava, I’m glad I bumped into you. I received your resignation from the Bistro. And? Oh, I passed it along to Stefan, who will be managing the Bistro full time henceforth since, uh He’s been bounced from DiMera Enterprises. Hmm. You know when he might be planning to reopen? I don’t.

And, honestly, I don’t care. But while you’re here, could you please give me the keys and I’ll pass them along to him?

Are you really gonna let EJ’s team rule you like that? Take over the business you worked so hard for? Well, the way I see it, I have no choice. Let’s either resign or get fired. Can’t imagine the board would love the optics of having a convicted felon for a CEO. Well, I can’t argue with that. What does that look for?

What? It occurs to me that you are a pardoned felon. Right, so? So, while I can’t be CEO, no reason you can’t. I like where this is going. I like it too. I like it a lot. Stephen! Have I told you lately, uh, how much I admire your ingenuity? Have I told you that I admire your openness to my ingenuity? That’s why we are going to make such a winning team.

We are indeed. I’m going to help you knock that CEO crown off EJ’s inflated head before it even lands. Oh, and then you can put that big, beautiful crown on my head. Alex,

Maggie, I’m sorry to barge in on you, but I just spoke to Teresa and she told me about Bella, right? And I know that you are just dying to say I told you so, so you don’t have to sugar coat it. Lay it on me. I just overheard you and Maggie having a little chit chat, dear Teresa. Please don’t tell me you were having a sudden attack of conscience.

Have you forgotten our agreement? God, it’s not like you’re holding up your end. Oh, but I am. Maggie Kiriakis just proposed to me. You’re lying. I am certainly not lying. But, uh, spreading the word is strictly verboten, no? We both want to savor our newfound status, uh, before letting the world in to, to share our joy.

Oh my God. God, I just can’t believe a woman as smart as Maggie could be gullible enough to fall for a con artist like you and think that you actually care about her. I do care about her and I most certainly care about her dowry as well. Yeah, no kidding. Listen, Maggie only stands to inherit half of Victor’s estate.

And we both know she’s already giving it away, like crazy, huh? And since we both set it up so that Alex will get the other half of the estate, huh? And since I am entitled to half of your spoils when you marry him Okay, you know what? Maybe I’m sick of the deception. Maybe this little agreement that we have just doesn’t work for me anymore.

Fine! Walk away, if you want, after you get the money. Or, Maggie will find out you kidnapped her precious little grandchild. Hey, that is because you blackmailed me, and you know what? If I go down, I’m taking you down with me. Don’t you play games with me, dammit! Stick with the plan, Teresa, or you will live to regret it.

Just tell me. Wendy, what did you mean about her mom? Just that Look, I know you are always going to be there for her. And you should be. You’re her son.

Family is very important to me, too. I, I, I know that. Well, earlier today I spoke with my dad. He’s finally starting to sound like himself. I mean, I mean, he’s taking an interest in his work, and he’s riding his bike, and he’s tending to his garden, and, and Even though he and my mom are still grieving.

Obviously. He told me that they’re both They’re both trying to get on with their lives. Wendy, that is That is such great news. Yeah, it is. But still, they’re both very fragile.

And the way that it affected them, when they heard about what happened to me, that they almost lost another child. I’m scared of hurting them again. I understand that. And to be honest, I’m just, I’m tired. Okay, I’m tired of always worrying. Of always having to look over my shoulder and just waiting for the bad things to happen.

I don’t have the keys to the bistro on me at the moment. And quite honestly, I would prefer to return them to Stefan myself. You know, cut out the middleman. Suit yourself. I was only just trying to save you and my brother the awkwardness. Or maybe you relish the idea of rubbing it in his face. You know, how he took the fall for your misdeeds and, uh, let you off scot free so you could run off with Harris.

Slippin made his own bed. Oh, nonsense. We all know that Detective Michaels here is the one who floated that deal to my brother. You know, the one where if he kept you out of the money laundering slash drug trafficking charges, That Harris here would not have my brother prosecuted for trying to kill him.

Personally, I think that was an egregious dereliction of duty. Sacrificing an open and shut case of an attempted cop killer to save one of Clyde’s minions. Ew. Says the man who made the deal to set him free. How’d he get you to do it? What’s Stefan holding over your head?

I take it you want The CEO position, yes? What do you think? I think you are highly ambitious. I think you are addicted to status and power. Not to mention, you enjoy pushing people around. So yeah, I’d say you are lusting after the position. And you would be correct. Now, let me ask you, what are you going to want in return?

Ha ha, ambitious honesty. Yes, you scratch my back ends. You helped me get Gabby out of prison.

Come on, Alex. That’s not my style to gloat or to say I told you so. I came here to congratulate you. To congratulate me? For what? On making the right decision, at long last. Oh. I’m also here to present another chance to make the right decision. Well, I’m listening. You and I have not always seen eye to eye, but we are the stewards of Victor’s legacy.

I want you to bring me back on a Titan. Now, Alex, I know the company has been struggling since Victor’s death, but I want to make it as successful as it once was. You and I, together, I believe we can ride this ship.

Most about this stupid little agreement that I never should have agreed to. The fact that you are lying to Maggie. She happens to be the best person that I know. I am fond of Maggie, as I said. But the thing is, under different circumstances, everything that Victor amassed should have been mine anyway. And soon it will be.

Okay, here’s just a little piece of advice for you, yeah? Once you do get that money, run. Bar. You know why? Because nobody in Salem is gonna want to have anything to do with you. Least of all Maggie. Fair enough. But there is a rather important piece of business that has cropped up since I have arrived. Oh God, I’m afraid to ask.

I will tell you anyway. An opportunity to avenge a great loss. But there is something I must find to make that happen. And I will not be leaving Salem until I do.

I’ve always considered myself strong. And Cool under pressure. I, I hate being afraid. Okay, Wendy, I keep telling you this. That fear is totally normal and healthy. It’s what’s kept us alive on the savannah for like a bajillion years, okay? Wendy, look at me. You are one of the strongest people I have ever known.

Okay, but even the strongest people at times feel fear and uncertainty. Okay, but you don’t have to go through this alone. I am there for you. Always. Okay, it’s gonna be okay, I promise. Okay?

Stefan’s got something on you. I don’t know what it is, but I’m gonna make it my mission to figure it out. Don’t you have enough missions to accomplish already, detective? Because, and no doubt I don’t need to remind you, I know the truth about your deal with Stefan. And I suggest that you and he, with all of your skeletons in your respective closets, stay on my good side.

Or your rather irregular activities will see the light. And at the very least, you will be an officer of the law. No more.

Oh, you want me to help you get Gabby out of prison? I mean, why don’t we just get a pair of shovels and go find Jimmy Hoffa? I mean, this is insane, Stefan! Well, you are just the littlest bit insane, so I’d say you’re overqualified for the job. Alright, even if I were tempted by this preposterous quid pro quo, how do you propose we go about this feat?

You got yourself out of prison semi recently, didn’t you? Come on, Kristen. You want to be head of the DiMera empire? You want to shake hands with prime ministers? Make big deals with tech magnates on private peninsulas. You got this. Do we have a deal? I’ll think about it.

Is Gabby innocent? Oh, I’ve never been more certain about anything in my life. Well, if she didn’t kill Lee Shin The simplest legal way to get her out of prison would be to find out who did it. Well, there’s not really anything simple about it. See, the police have exhausted their every lead, and my P. I. and I have come up empty.

Oh, don’t you worry your pretty little head about that. I will find a way.

Previously on When Calls the Heart Previously on When Calls the Heart I wonder what it says We’re going to teach you to regret We’re going to teach you to regret Oh, I’m so sorry I know when someone’s up to no good I know when someone’s up to no good You should accept this fellowship You should accept this fellowship Are you leaving Hope Valley?

Life is more fun than surprises. The night seems as restless as ever, while we await word of Ned Yost’s condition after his collapse. Damn. Damn. With lemon and honey. With lemon and honey. Thank you. In case you’re hungry, I asked Gustav to prepare some sandwiches for all. He should be ready shortly. That was very nice.

That was very nice.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Finn: I, um, I know you’re working late, so… dinner’s already handled.

Steffy: Oh?

Finn: Yeah, just tell me when you’re on your way home and I’ll start heating it up.

Steffy: Takeout?

Finn: Mm-hmm. Yeah, il giardino. In retrospect, I probably should’ve ordered from that thai place we like.

Steffy: Why? Let me guess, you ran into deacon.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: And I’m sure he won’t let it go about sheila.

Eric: Lauren fenmore. You’re spoiling me, you know? Two trips to la in one month.

Lauren: Ah, you’re spoiling me. You made time for me both times.

Eric: Oh, yeah. It’s practically impossible to get you into my busy schedule.

Lauren: Well, it won’t be long. That is gonna be true. I mean, I think you look stronger and healthier than even the last trip.

Eric: Thank you.

Lauren: What are the doctors saying?

Eric: They’re pleased. I mean, nobody’s saying that I’m gonna be back to 100% anytime soon, but I’m gaining on it every day.

Lauren: I love it. I’m so happy for you. I mean, there’s so much to celebrate. There’s your good health. There’s your new marriage. And to top it all off, we don’t have to worry about sheila carter anymore.

Deacon: Who were you texting, sheila? Who the hell is sugar?

Zende: I know that you are frustrated and hurt, but don’t take it out on luna.

Poppy: The only reason that luna was in that guest house, the only reason that she confused zende for you, was because of my mints.

Zende: Luna would never willingly cheat on you. If I hadn’t been so caught up in the moment, the excitement of thinking that she chose me… there’s plenty of blame to go around, but not on her. Don’t you dare blame luna.

Rj: I don’t need you telling me what to do, zende.

Zende: I realize that. I just know that you feel–

Rj: No, you have no idea how I feel, ’cause you stabbed me in the back.

Zende: Not intentionally.

Rj: Yes, intentionally. Even if you thought she wanted you, you stabbed me in the back.

Zende: She was in my bed, saying that she was happy to see me. Or so I thought. I didn’t know that she was high on drugs, picturing you instead of me.

Rj: What did you do? Did you forget? Did you forget that she’s my girlfriend? No! You knew exactly what you were doing. And who you were doing it to. Your cousin!

Zende: I am sorry for that. And I hope that one day you can forgive me. I’ll understand if you can’T. Because you are right, it was a betrayal. On my part, not on luna’S. She’d never do that to you. You are so lucky, rj. Don’t blow this.

Lauren: You know, I saw steffy the last time I was here. And I told her she did us all a great favor by eliminating that monster. And she shouldn’t feel an ounce of guilt for it.

Eric: Yeah, well, that’s– that’s easy for you and me to say. But considering that sheila was her husband’s birth mother, um, I really have to wonder how finn is handling this death.

Lauren: Well, if he is mourning her in any way whatsoever, he’s most likely the only one in the world who is.

Eric: There is one other. One person who’s just not celebrating the demise of sheila carter. And it’s deacon sharpe.

Finn: Deacon’s in a bad place, and he’s struggling with sheila’s death.

Steffy: Okay, he’s still struggling. It’s like, the way this guy chooses to grieve, spouting off these crackpot theories. Like, he needs to stop this. He needs to stop spreading this nonsense that sheila is still alive.

Deacon: That face. It was you. I never left the room. I– I never left. It was you. Till it wasn’T. How did you suddenly have ten toes? Maybe finn’s right. Or maybe you are still out there. I’m not gonna give up, baby. I promise. Beyond covering grays my color needs to suit me.

Lauren: You know, it’s hard to wrap my head around someone actually falling for sheila.

Eric: All right, hang on there. You’re talking to someone who actually did.

Lauren: There’s no comparison. You were completely conned. You didn’t know the evil that she was capable of. You just– you saw a pretty nurse. Deacon, on the other hand, went willingly into a relationship with a psychopath.

Eric: Yeah.

Lauren: I don’t know what he was thinking. He risked his business and his family for sheila.

Eric: It’s hard to comprehend, I’ll grant you that.

Lauren: I mean, maybe one day he will realize how lucky he was that she died when she did before she completely upended his whole life. We did it, eric. We outlasted sheila. And there were times when I thought it was gonna go the other way.

Eric: But the good guys always win.

Lauren: Because we survived sheila carter.

Luna: I appreciate your support, zende. And I know that you’re coming from a good place. But… I don’t want rj to feel pressured.

Poppy: And I certainly don’t want to put any pressure on you either, rj. But you have to admit, if– if I had been more careful, then that night would never have happened. But that is on me. That is not on luna.

Rj: You’re right. You’re right, poppy. If it weren’t for your drugs, my world, our world, wouldn’t have been flipped upside down. I don’t want to hear another word from either of you.

Zende: Rj, if you listen for a second, we–

Rj: Shut up. Get out. I want to be alone with luna.

Poppy: Come on, zende. Let’s– let’s give them some time.

Zende: Rj. I know that your world has been rocked. It was a big misunderstanding. But don’t break luna’s heart over something that wasn’t even her fault.

Steffy: Do you think you got through to deacon at all?

Finn: [ Chuckles ] Uh, no. I think, if anything, he’s more convinced. He just– he can’t let go of the fact that he thinks he saw ten toes right before sheila was cremated.

Steffy: Look, I– I get that this has been hard for you. You know, picturing and… I’m just really trying to be understanding of the connection that you had to sheila.

Finn: No, look, I can tell. All right? And I appreciate it, yeah.

Steffy: Like you said, it’s– it is easier knowing that we don’t have to worry about sheila anymore.

Finn: Well, you know what else you don’t have to worry about? Are my focuses. Yeah, the death of my birth mother was a shock, and it’s disturbing to think about the details, but… I’m not gonna let that distract me. And I’m not gonna let deacon distract me, either. My focus is on you. And your happiness. And our kids’ happiness. And our life. And our family. And I just– I love you so much, sweetheart.

Steffy: I love you. I love you.

Lauren: You might wanna delete that. And any other awful reminder that she was ever in your life. Trust me. You are better off without sheila.

(“Three little birds” by bob marley & the wailers)

Luna: Will you ever be able to look at me the same? I know I’m not the honest woman that you once thought I was.

Rj: Stop, it’s not– that’s not what I think.

Luna: Are you sure? Because from how you were speaking with zende, I assumed that–

Rj: No, I– I don’t need him to tell me who you are. I know who you are. And I– I hate what happened. And I understand how it did. You didn’t knowingly cheat on me. But it doesn’t make it any less shocking or hurt any less. I don’t know where to go from here.

Finn: Okay, um… I should let you get back to it.

Steffy: You’ll be fine picking up the kids? I wish I could, but I have that conference call.

Finn: I got it, I got it. It’s not a problem. I mean, I think I might even have time for a swim beforehand. But I’m gonna get them fed. And bathed. And down. And then you and i can have a romantic dinner. Maybe open a bottle of wine. Get the fire going. A back rub…

Steffy: Oh, I would love a back rub. You’re making all my wishes come true.

Finn: Well, your wishes are pretty simple, aren’t they?

Steffy: Where’d you go?

Finn: No, um… uh, just speaking of wishes, something deacon said. He asked if part of me wished that my birth mother was still alive.

Steffy: How’d you respond?

Steffy: I told him it doesn’t matter how I feel. Sheila’s– sheila’s gone. And he needs to accept that. And get over it.

Steffy: Well, hopefully you got through to him.

Finn: I think it’s just too soon. He’s– he’s having a hard time accepting.

Steffy: Okay, look. Part of me, you know, I– I would understand where deacon is coming from. Because sheila’s history. She faked her death before. I get that. Part of me would listen to deacon. But I was there, finn. I lived it. Unlike deacon, I know exactly what happened.

Deacon: Well, well. Lauren fenmore, in the flesh.

Lauren: Deacon sharpe. This is long overdue.

Deacon: So, how are things in genoa city?

Lauren: Lately? Very calm. Just like in los angeles. You can feel this collective sigh of relief now that sheila’s dead. You don’t think I should be celebrating? Well, I do. And I’m not apologizing for it.

Deacon: Look, I know that your history with sheila was bad.

Lauren: Ugh, that’s putting it mildly.

Deacon: Okay, look. That might be what you remember her for, but there was a lot more to her than that.

Lauren: You know what? I don’t know how or why you fell for her. But there is one thing that I know for sure. Your life is better, safer, and healthier without her in it.

Deacon: You know what, you keep jumping for joy with everyone else who’s so thrilled that she’s gone. But what if she isn’t?

Lauren: Excuse me?

Deacon: What if sheila’s still alive? Try killing bugs the worry-free way.

Rj: I know that’s not what you’re hoping I’d say I just– I want to be honest with you. Just wish you would have told me right after it happened. Why didn’t you tell me?

Luna: I should’ve. Yeah, and I hope you know how much I regret not coming to you and trusting in you and in us. But, I don’t know. Keeping this secret was like literally making me sick. But I– I– I just– I wanted to protect your relationship with zende. I mean, you guys are cousins.

Rj: Any relationship I had with my cousin is history, I’ll tolerate him. I don’t want to talk about zende. I don’t care about him. I care about you and us and where we’re gonna go from here.

Luna: That’s exactly what I’ve been wondering.

Rj: This would be a lot easier if I didn’t love you so much. I don’t blame you. Actually, no, I’m still trying to make sense of all this. It’s just every time I look at you, I see you in zende’s bed, in his arms. I just– I need time.

Luna: Yeah, um, I understand. You know, I mean, I’ve– I’ve been living with this for a while now, and it’s still hard for me to even process. So, I can’t imagine how you… look, just know that I love you so much. I always will, no matter what you decide on.

Steffy: Deacon can create whatever imaginary story he wants in his head. But I was there. I had the knife in my hand. I saw sheila’s face. Look, finn, I– I know what I did. I defended myself. And if deacon were in my shoes, he would understand that. He wouldn’t question this. He would be as certain as I am. Because there is no doubt in my mind that sheila carter is dead.

Lauren: What did you say?

Deacon: What if sheila’s still alive.

Lauren: That’s ridiculous. Steffy killed her. There was no question. I talked to steffy. I heard what happened. She stabbed her in the heart. She saw her. She identified her. And from what I hear, so did you. Didn’t you go to the morgue?

Deacon: I did, yeah. I also went to the crematorium, and that’s where I saw her.

Lauren: So why do you have these stories in your head that she’s still alive, when you saw for yourself that she wasn’t? Look… I know you had feelings for her, and that’s why you’re holding out this false hope that she could possibly be alive. But deacon, what you had with her wasn’t real. And you should be so thankful that you never saw the monster that she was. If you even knew a fraction of what she did to me, the decades of torment…

[ Sighs ] Sheila is gone. She is out of our lives, and I never want to hear her name again.

Deacon: Does the name sugar mean anything to you?

Lauren: Sugar?

Deacon: Yes. What do you know about sugar? I need to know.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Sloan comes home and announces to Eric that her new client is very impressed with her which means a lot of money. Eric remains distracted on the computer and asks if she knows how much money that will be. Sloan questions him still worrying about their finances. Eric asks how he can not when they are having serious problems.

John is on the phone at the Brady Pub. John says he wants public records scanned on Konstantin to find anything that could lead them to his ex-wife. John hangs up and wonders where she is and what she may know.

Konstantin sits in his room at the Kiriakis Mansion with a photo of his daughter Catharina. Konstantin promises to find a way to stay and finish what he started. Konstantin thinks back to using his card to control John as The Pawn in the park. Konstantin then pulls his book from the drawer and goes to retrieve the card but finds it is gone. Konstantin gets upset and questions where the hell it is.

Marlena goes to visit Paulina at the hospital but finds Paulina is gone from her room.

Julie tells Johnny that help is on the way and the first responders will be there as soon as they can get through. Johnny questions where Chanel could be. Julie suggests she could’ve slipped on the ice or got turned around in all the snow. Johnny admits the visibility is pretty bad so she could’ve just lost the trail. Johnny decides he has to get back out there and find his wife and he’s not coming back until he does. Julie warns him to be careful out there as he exits the cabin.

Marlena calls John and says she needs his help as Paulina is gone when she was supposed to be isolated in her hospital room. John asks if she went for more tests but Marlena says she checked and that she was supposed to stay in her room, but there is no sign of her. Marlena worries that Paulina could be exposing people to harmful levels of radiation.

Julie thinks back to being on the phone with Paulina and telling her about Chanel missing. Julie pulls out her phone and calls Maggie. Maggie tells her that Doug filled her in on everything and asks if Chanel is safe. Julie says not yet but Johnny just went to look for her again. Maggie asks about the first responders. Julie explains that they can’t get through since the roads are blocked. Julie then hangs up as he thinks the first responders are there but she is shocked by Paulina arriving instead. Paulina warns Julie to stand back. Julie questions her not being in isolation. Paulina complains that she couldn’t sit in the room while her baby girl is missing. Julie argues that Johnny just went to find her. Paulina asks why they are standing here and suggests that Julie go one way and she’ll go the other.

Sloan asks Eric if he’s considered the expenses of a newborn baby. Eric assures that he’s been extremely careful in trying to figure out how they are in the red. Sloan offers to take a look and tells Eric that some of the entries are fixed and some are variable, so it’s all just a matter of navigating the tabs on the screen. Eric questions why people use accountants if it’s that simple. Sloan says it’s not fun so most people don’t like doing it. Sloan tells Eric to let his brain relax and promises to work it out. Sloan asks about Jude. Eric tells her that he’s in the crib. Sloan decides that she will go get him because they could all use a little Jude time.

Maggie has papers delivered to her at the Kiriakis Mansion by the maid.

Marlena meets John at the Brady Pub and asks if he got anything. John informs her that he just learned that Chanel is missing in the snowstorm as she and Johnny went out to the Horton Cabin. John explains that Johnny called 911 but first responders can’t get over the bridge so Johnny’s out looking for Chanel, but not by himself as he just learned from public works that Paulina commandeered a snow plow and is out there looking for Chanel on her own. Marlena realizes that’s why Paulina left isolation and says they have to notify the first responders because they can’t go anywhere near her since she’s radioactive.

Sloan brings Jude to Eric and says he’s the most precious creature she’s ever seen. Eric comments on how settled down Jude has been since the Christening. Sloan says that God works in mysterious ways. Eric suggests he should be more specific in his prayers for new clients in his business. Sloan asks if he’s still stressed about that and promises that things are going to look up with her payments from Stefan DiMera. Eric doesn’t want her to have to carry the whole load. Sloan says she doesn’t mind. Eric says he does and he’s been thinking about putting more focus in to editorial photography. Sloan calls that a great idea and suggests he could work for the Spectator. Sloan suggests he go see if he can persuade someone there to hire him on. Eric agrees to do that. Sloan wishes him luck as he exits. Sloan tells Jude how Eric is such a good man but if he knew that he and Nicole were Jude’s real parents, Eric would never trust her again and would never want anything to do with her. Sloan declares that they can’t have that so that’s why it’s their little secret, so she can be Jude’s mom forever.

Konstantin storms into the living room and confronts the maid over cleaning his room. Konstantin complains that a very important red and black card is missing from his room and questions if the maid has seen it, threw it out, or stole it. Maggie asks how dare he talk to her like that. Konstantin apologizes for his outburst and says it was completely unfair of him to make that accusation. Maggie argues that Ellie has been a model employee for several years. Konstantin explains that the card has sentimental value to him as a memento from his time with his daughter but apologizes again. Ellie the maid agrees to check with the staff if they have seen it and exits. Maggie notes that she’s never seen Konstantin like this. Konstantin says she knows how he is when it comes to his daughter. Konstantin claims the card is something Catharina carried with her. Maggie says if the card is in the house somewhere, they will find it. Konstantin thanks her for reassuring him and apologizes for how he acted. Maggie tells him that it’s alright and she forgives him. Konstantin says she always has a way of calming him down. Maggie doesn’t know how calm he’ll be when she tells him what she just learned. Maggie reveals that it’s unsettling news.

John tells Marlena that the first responders have been notified of the radiation threat and he offered to go up there himself but they said they will handle it. Marlena questions what Paulina was thinking. John says she obviously wasn’t thinking. Marlena worries about Paulina exposing everyone she comes in to contact with to radiation. John says she only cared about saving her daughter and argues that if anyone can relate to that, they can since they’ve been there with almost losing Sami and Belle. Marlena remembers those difficult times and they got through them because John was strong, amazing, and kept her from falling apart. John remembers Marlena being the strong one keeping him together through the whole thing. Marlena thanks him for the credit but says she wasn’t strong. John calls her his person and says he loves her with all his heart. John considers himself the luckiest man on Earth to be able to share his life with her. Marlena feels the same way and calls him so amazing. Marlena calls him her hero as they kiss.

Paulina successfully finds Chanel and brings her back in to the cabin. Chanel can’t believe she came looking for her. Paulina is just relieved that she found her. Paulina sits her on the couch with a blanket. Chanel thought she was hearing the angels when she heard her voice. Chanel calls Paulina her angel on Earth. Paulina talks about finding her. Chanel guesses she slipped in the snow and got caught between the rocks. Paulina tells her it’s okay now. Chanel stops and questions Paulina not being in the hospital. Paulina guesses she shouldn’t have left but she heard Chanel was missing and it was like the world turned dark, so she couldn’t sit there and do nothing as she had to find her.

Sloan puts Jude down for a nap and pulls out her phone to call Leo. Sloan tells Leo that Eric is on his way to the Spectator office to ask about photography work, so she hoped he could help him out. Leo says he would love to work with Eric but they already have a full time photographer on staff. Sloan argues that she and Eric both need this because of finances as Eric wants to make more money. Leo says he’s flattered that she thought he had any power at the Spectator but he doesn’t. Sloan declares that she’s not taking no for an answer and tells him to use some of his Leo magic. Sloan says no one knows better than her how persuasive he can be when he puts his mind to it. Sloan reminds Leo of his vow of silence in regards to certain subjects Sloan warns Leo to make sure Eric gets the job or else. Leo argues that he’s the one blackmailing her, not the other way around, right as Eric walks in to the Spectator office. Leo then quickly hangs up and greets Eric, calling it a lovely surprise. Eric apologizes for not calling. Leo tells him that he’s welcome anytime. Eric questions who Leo is blackmailing these days. Leo jokes about it and calls it a tactic with his Lady Whistleblower sources and admits gossip is a dirty business. Eric hoped he could catch Chad or Everett and not Xander. Leo guesses he’s throwing his hat in the ring for any photography work he can find. Eric asks how he knew he was looking for anything job related. Leo tells him he’s solo today since Chad and Xander are at the district attorney’s press conference while Everett is out trying to find himself. Leo says he’d be more than happy to put in a good word for Eric. Eric agrees to send him a link to his portfolio.

Marlena tells John that all Chanel and Johnny wanted was a mini-honeymoon and they ended up with a blizzard. They hope that Chanel is found. Marlena tells John that she’s so glad he is here and not in Greece. John says there are so many holes in his memory about what happened in Greece and why, so now Steve is as determined to get to the truth as he is. John talks about putting feelers out to try and find Konstantin’s ex as maybe she was there or maybe it was why they got divorced. Marlena suggests maybe John shouldn’t do anything until he’s prepared for what he will find.

Konstantin asks Maggie what her bad news is. Maggie reveals that she heard back from her legal team and they’ve tried every angle, but they have not found a path forward to extend Konstantin’s VISA. Maggie says she’s so sorry. Konstantin says she has nothing to apologize for as she has gone above and beyond. Konstantin says he will miss the place so very much and he will miss Maggie most of all. Maggie says she will miss him too. Maggie hoped they could figure out something to find a way for him to stay. Konstantin decides he will go pack his bags and exits the room.

Sloan tells Jude that Leo better come through or else he’s going to lose a lot more than his fairy Godfather title.

Leo tells Eric that he will make sure Chad gets his portfolio as he will do anything he can to help Eric. Leo tells Eric to let him know if he ever needs babysitter for Jude. Eric admits that Jude lights up when he sees Leo and likes being around him. Leo says that makes his day but remarks that it’s too bad that Jude is the only one in town that lights up when he sees him. Eric feels that’s not true. Leo says he understands he’s not a great guy and he has a long way to go.

John tells Marlena that he has to be ready for the truth of what happened in Aria. John thinks Marlena would encourage him to follow his gut if she was his therapist and not his wife. John gets a text from his contact in Greece, informing him that Konstantin married a woman named Elizabeth in 1970 in Aria, Greece. John declares they’ve got it. Marlena tells him to make that call, so he does.

Paulina looks out the window and thinks back to being on the phone with Johnny about Chanel missing. Paulina then tells Chanel that she shouldn’t have been that close to her. Chanel says it already happened so there’s no reason to worry now. Paulina prays it wasn’t a mistake. Chanel jokes about her being radioactive. Chanel then points out that Paulina saved her life. Paulina realizes that she didn’t call Abe so he’s probably worried out of his mind. Paulina goes to call Abe. Johnny then returns and is relieved to find Chanel inside. Johnny talks about seeing the snow plow and hoping someone found her and they did. Johnny then sees Paulina inside and realizes it was her. Paulina declares that she wasn’t going to let anything stop her from finding her daughter. Johnny says he was losing his mind as he’s never been so panicked in her life. Chanel feels pain so Paulina worries that she has a sprained ankle. Paulina then realizes that Julie is still out there.

Konstantin angrily goes through his room, searching for his card. Maggie enters and tells him that they need to talk.

Jude wakes up crying as Sloan complains about wanting a break. Sloan remarks that every time she thinks she’s in the clear, something goes wrong.

Eric thanks Leo again and says he should get going, so they will talk soon. Eric exits as Leo gets a call back from Sloan, who asks how it went. Leo says he will do his best, give Eric a top level endorsement and work every angle he can. Eric remains in the open doorway and listens in on Leo.

Julie returns to the cabin, relieving Chanel, Johnny, and Paulina. Julie says she’s fine and thanks Johnny for calling her. Johnny calls it a miracle that their phones are still working. Julie checks on Chanel, who says she’s grateful to be indoors but might have sprained her ankle. Julie calls it such a relief and asks who found her. Johnny explains that Paulina drove the snow plow across the bridge to save Chanel. Paulina repeats that she was going to find her girl. Julie says they are all very grateful but Paulina should’ve stayed in isolation as she exposed all of them to radiation, so she hopes that Paulina didn’t do more harm than good.

John talks on the phone, saying he hoped it would be all good news but they know how these things work out. John tells his guy to keep looking and let him know if anything else is found. John hangs up as Marlena reveals that she just spoke to Abe, who confirmed they found Chanel safe and sound. John asks about Paulina. Marlena says she is keeping her distance until the first responders arrive. Marlena guesses John’s news isn’t as good which he confirms. John reveals that his source found Konstantin’s divorce papers and there has been no sign of Elizabeth since.

Konstantin apologizes to Maggie for his frustration. Maggie says she’s sorry about Catharina’s card as none of the staff have seen it. Konstantin calls it another disappointment but it doesn’t compare to leaving Salem, Maggie, and Victoria which makes him the most sad. Maggie then says he won’t have to leave as she then proposes to Konstantin.

Leo dodged the question by telling him he would put in a good word for him so he could get a job. John talked to Marlena about looking for Konstantin’s ex. He thought she might have something to do with his daughter. Marlena suggested that he not do anything in case he didn’t like what he found. Jack: Nikki, uh, is everything all right? It’s awfully early.

Nikki: I’m sorry to bother you. Just with everything going on, I needed to see you.

Jack: Of course. Come in.

Nikki: I was on my way to the office. I– I’m just so worried about harrison.

Jack: Whoa. Wait a minute. You’re going the office at this hour?

Nikki: I needed to get my mind off everything.

Jack: You’ve been drinking, haven’t you?

Cole: You see anything?

Victoria: I don’t know what I’m looking for.

Cole: I do. You’re hoping claire shows up.

Victoria: Yeah. With harrison. And they’ve been out all night, eating ice cream, and they just forgot to tell anyone.

Cole: Wouldn’t that be great?

Victoria: But that’s not gonna happen, is it?

Cole: I’m afraid not. You know, I should be making you go to bed instead of giving you more caffeine.

Victoria: But you know that I’m not gonna be able to sleep any more than you can. Why haven’t we heard what their demands are? I mean, what? This is like torture.

Cole: Well, it’s jordan. It’s what she does.

Victoria: Over and over and over again. Yeah. I just keep replaying in my head these conversations that I’ve had with claire, looking for some clues.

Cole: About?

Victoria: I mean, I don’t know. Did I miss something? That maybe there was some sign in claire that she hasn’t been honest with us. Maybe she was fooling us. I mean, am I– am I terrible for thinking that?

Cole: No, no. I– I’ve been thinking the same thing.

Victoria: I mean, could we be wrong about claire? Is it possible that she is the one who took harrison?

Nikki: I’m not drunk.

Jack: This isn’t how you usually present yourself first thing in the morning, especially when you’re on your way to the office.

Nikki: Well, you don’t look so hot yourself, and I’m not accusing you of being drunk.

Jack: I am merely concerned, nikki.

Nikki: I’ve been up all night. I am worried sick.

Jack: Well, we’ve been up all night here, too. Some have dozed off, some just trying to get some rest.

Nikki: I assume there’s no update or you would have called?

Jack: No, I’m afraid not.

Nikki: This is all because I let jordan live. I should’ve watched her die and not called 911. This is all my fault.

Jack: You have got to stop blaming yourself. And stop lying to me. Last night at the party, you told me any urge to drink had disappeared. Well, clearly it’s back. No judgment, I get it. But lying to me doesn’t help anything. You said you want to talk. Let’s go somewhere and talk.

Diane: Jack? Nikki, what are you doing here?

Traci: What’s happening? Has something happened?

Phyllis: Wait a second, harrison was kidnapped? Wait, what happened?

Nick: How did this happen? Why didn’t you come to us sooner?

Summer: I don’t know. Because I thought that I would’ve heard something by now, but I just– I couldn’t sit around the abbott house any longer. Everybody went to sleep. I– I don’t even know how. They told me to go sleep in harrison’s room, but I just– I couldn’T. I couldn’T.

Phyllis: Okay, I’m– I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. Here.

Summer: No, mom. Mom, I can’T. If you do that, I’m gonna cry again.

Phyllis: Okay.

Summer: And I just can’T.

Nick: Where are we with the search? What’s the next step?

Summer: That is the worst part. We’re just waiting for more instructions from that psychopath, claire.

Phyllis: Look, I– I’m sorry, what kind of instructions? Like ransom? Or–

Summer: I don’t know. Her text to kyle was vague. All she said was that she has harrison and that kyle and I have to help jordan get out of town safely, ’cause she doesn’t trust the newmans to do that.

Nick: And help how?

Summer: Details to follow, was all she said. I just– I can’t even believe that this is real. It can’t be real. Like, my son is in the hands of two monsters.

Phyllis: Okay, wait a second. Who’s jordan? How come I don’t know about this jordan person, and why is it that you two know and I don’t?

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Traci: Seriously, has something new happened?

Diane: Any news about harrison?

Jack: I haven’t heard from security, the police, or the kidnappers. There’s a police detail outside still, but they’ve told me the gcpd has been unlucky in tracing claire’s phone.

Diane: Does victor’s team have any news?

Nikki: I–

Jack: When victor and I spoke last night, he was here, and we promised each other we’d be in touch if anything changed. There’s been no news.

Traci: This must be awful for your family, too. How are you holding up?

Nikki: Not great. Jack, I– I would like to take you up on that offer to talk privately.

Jack: Why don’t we go to the terrace?

Diane: Wait, hang on. Before you go, how’s kyle? He was still up pacing the house when I must have fallen asleep.

Jack: Well, I’ve finally talked him into lying down, convinced him he needed some rest. The state he was in, I don’t think he got much.

Diane: Did you?

Jack: About as much as you got. I won’t be long.

Traci: Okay, why don’t I go make us some coffee, and you can tell me what that was all about.

Diane: Oh, thanks, traci, but I really don’t think I want anything right now.

Ashley: Good morning.

Traci: Hey. How are you feeling?

Jack: Please know, when I confronted you earlier, that was not an accusation. I am your sponsor. I am your friend. But you’ve gotta be straight with me. I can’t help you if you refuse to be honest.

Nikki: Okay, you’re right. I did drink. I– I just couldn’t resist the urge this time. All that strength I had at the party, that was gone in an instant, as soon as I realized jordan had harrison.

Jack: Thank you for telling me that. Look, not that the how matters, but do you have some more vodka hidden somewhere? Do we have to get rid of the temptation?

Nikki: You can search me if you want. You know how resourceful I am. If I want it, I will find it. So… I couldn’t sleep and I thought I would go for a drive just to clear my head. And I– I swear, that– that was my only intention. Well, then I passed a bar. You know, open all night. So, the next thing I know, I’m sitting on a stool ordering a drink. And then another one. And then somehow I was able to stop myself and come here.

Jack: I’m glad you did.

Nikki: I just hate being so damn weak. I mean, god, when I saw that neon sign, I thought, “oh, oh, salvation,” you know? As if alcohol could make my anxiety and my anger go away. Of course, it won’T. It– it just makes it worse, and I know that. So, why do I keep doing this to myself and to the people that I love? And they are under the same amount of pressure that I am? The last thing you need is to be dealing with this.

Jack: No crisis is going to keep me from being your sponsor. This is what I signed up for. And I am incredibly proud of you and incredibly relieved that you came here.

Phyllis: Why is it I’m just hearing about those two psychopaths?

Summer: I didn’t know about jordan and claire until very recently, either.

Phyllis: And– and you, we– we– we had a real talk, and you failed to tell me that that– that jordan person, she poisoned your whole family. And she stabbed you, and she escaped twice.

Nick: I just don’t know why claire would do this. She was so happy at the party last night, like genuinely thrilled to be a part of this family. Why do it? What could she possibly gain from this?

Phyllis: The only thing that matters to me right now is that harrison gets home safe.

Nick: Yes, of course, he is the number one priority.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Nick: But still–

Phyllis: Still what? I mean, I can’t imagine that anything is more important than harrison coming home.

Nick: Look, victoria just got her daughter back after all these years. For this to happen, she’s got to be devastated.

Victoria: I want to believe with my whole heart that claire’s been honest with us. And that she truly has made all of this progress and that she loves being our daughter, but, I mean, summer came at us so hard with those accusations. Maybe that was just our– our nature of response.

Cole: To protect claire, to defend her, because we know her and we love her. But now you’re asking that if we were to look deep down, that all of this is true?

Victoria: I don’t know. I’ve been up all night wondering if it’s possible. Maybe nick’s early hesitation and adam’s nonstop warnings about claire… I mean, what if they were right? What? She went to the abbott house. She was alone with harrison and now they’re both missing.

Cole: You really want to do this?

Victoria: Don’t we have to?

Cole: Okay. If– if I were looking from the outside, I’d have to say that claire looks guilty too.

Victoria: But why would she do it?

Cole: I suppose to help jordan.

Victoria: You see, that’s– that’s where it all falls apart for me. I mean, she’s worked so hard to get past this pain that jordan caused in her life. And she was so happy to move in here. She couldn’t wait. Why would she turn her back on that?

Cole: Listen, I know this makes no sense. But growing up with my mother, you cannot believe how manipulative she was. How she hid all of her instability from me and from the rest of the world. Claire grew up with the exact same thing with jordan. She only saw jordan’s point of view, and she was just a kid. Jordan was the only adult in her life. Claire had to go along to survive.

Victoria: That sounds awful. It’s so lonely.

Cole: Well, if it was anything like me, claire grew up having to walk on eggshells. Feeling like it was up to her to have to manage jordan’s moods. To stop her from raging and lashing out and to humor her just to keep the peace. I mean, this urge is probably pretty deep.

Victoria: Maybe it was harder for her to break out of that grip than we knew.

Cole: I just can’t help but go back to what she said last night.

Victoria: She said that it was the best night of her life. That felt so real.

Cole: It was like she finally felt what life could be like. She finally felt like she was part of a family, the newmans, but more importantly, you and me. We gave her love, and she gave it back. I felt that. I saw it. And she didn’t want to be part of that darkness anymore. I have to believe that.

Victoria: I’ve never wanted to believe anything more in my whole life. Looking for a smarter way to mop?

Ashley: I’m feeling a little fuzzy-headed and, um, a little shaky, actually. Like, I just– I don’t know, I need to get my bearings, I guess.

Traci: Well, how did you sleep?

Ashley: Pretty well. I mean, the last thing I remember is saying goodnight to you.

Diane: How much of last night do you even remember? Well, no, it’s– it’s okay. Go ahead. I don’t care about the things you said.

Ashley: What do you mean?

Diane: Well, it was intense, and you were upset, and you lashed out.

Ashley: At you?

Traci: At all of us.

Jack: First things first, call victor. Tell him you are safe. He will be worried sick, especially with jordan around.

Nikki: Yeah, you’re right. Okay, done.

Jack: Knowing that you are safely here will give him peace of mind.

Nikki: Jack, whatever happens today, I cannot drink.

Jack: You left that bar, you came here. You’re making the right choices.

Nikki: Victor’s gonna be busy with his team trying to find harrison. Victoria is frantic about claire. Summer is beside herself. I wonder if she’s spoken to nicholas. My– my whole family is in turmoil again. And I– I need to be strong, able to help them, but I can only do that if I’m sober.

Jack: Okay, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You only have one person you need to be sober for, you.

Nikki: I am doing it for me. The most important thing in the world to me is to be there for my family, especially if, god forbid, things get even worse.

Jack: No, no, no, don’t start spinning worst case scenarios. It’s only gonna add to your stress.

Nikki: I can’t help it. I’m the one who got us here. First by letting jordan live, and then in my arrogance, thinking that I could lure her out of hiding the night of our anniversary party. Well, that did work, but now she has kidnapped our harrison. The poor little guy, he must be so terrified. All because I was determined to confront her.

Jack: You are not responsible for the actions of a psychopath. We also don’t know that this is jordan’s doing. This could well be claire’s doing.

Nikki: Oh, my god, well, then that’s even worse because that would mean that I made the same mistake twice in trusting her.

Jack: Do not think like that. You didn’t cause this. Victor and i are working together. How often does that happen? We are a force. We will be able to fix this. We will get harrison back home, and we will see to it that the people responsible for this are punished.

Ashley: I was lashing out at you? I’m so sorry. What– what did I say?

Traci: It doesn’t matter, ashley. I– I know you didn’t mean anything by it.

Diane: Yeah, you weren’t yourself. We know that.

Ashley: What does that mean? I mean, who was I if I wasn’t myself? Why can’t I remember any of this?

Traci: I don’t know, ashley. I don’T.

Ashley: It’s like there’s just this big, blank space in the evening, and I– I don’t know. I just– I woke up so confused, and… I’m scared. I want– I want to get some help. And I don’t mean, like, later. I want it right now. I need the help today.

Traci: Okay, that’s– that’s good because we’re waiting for a confirmation call for an appointment for this morning.

Ashley: We are?

Traci: Yes.

Diane: Yes, with one of the doctors that sharon recommended. She’s going to get you an appointment as soon as possible.

Ashley: I kinda remember sharon being here. She showed up right before I went to bed, right?

Traci: Yes, jack had called her.

Ashley: Okay. Okay.

Kyle: Hey, um, has there been any word?

Diane: No, I’m sorry. I’m afraid not. Honey, did you get any sleep?

Kyle: Yeah, I– I can sleep when this is over.

Ashley: What’s going on?

Traci: Um, harrison is sick, and he’s with summer.

Ashley: Oh, no.

Traci: And she’s taken him to the doctor.

Ashley: I’m so sorry.

Kyle: Yeah, um, I need to check in with summer right now.

Diane: Yeah, that’s, uh, that’s a good idea. Why don’t I– why don’t I get you something to eat? More coffee?

Kyle: Yeah.

Diane: Listen, he’s gonna be okay. I’m so sorry.

Did you know…

Cole: You need your energy. We both do if we’re gonna get through this day.

Victoria: I can’t eat. I can’t stop replaying every interaction that I’ve had with claire. Do you remember when she first told us that she was our daughter?

Cole: Yeah, at the lake house.

Victoria: And we denied it. Adamantly.

Cole: Yeah, well, it’s because she poisoned us.

Victoria: Yeah, but even after that, when she was in jail, we still didn’t believe her.

Cole: Well, we had reason for that. We thought she had died, and we hadn’t learned the lie.

Victoria: But what if that harsh interaction left an impression on her? What if it caused a wound so deep that she couldn’t get over it?

Cole: But the minute that we got the dna results, we were all in with helping her.

Victoria: But was it too late? I mean, in her mind, that we were rejecting her again? And prove jordan right? That we didn’t want her to begin with?

Cole: Well, she– she might have felt that way at first. But after she did all of that work with the doctors–

Victoria: But did she really? I mean, did she? Or was that just an act? Did we push her too fast? Did we take her out of the hospital before she was ready?

Cole: I have all of the same questions buzzing through my head. But we can’t believe them. We can’t listen to them. She’s our girl. She is our miraculous, resilient daughter. And even though we didn’t raise her, that doesn’t mean that we don’t know her.

Victoria: She came to us full-grown. She was a young woman with adult problems, and then some. We didn’t– we didn’t just have to play catch up with her. I mean, we had to help her deal with a lifetime of being fed hate and lies.

Cole: Yeah, and we succeeded at that. I know that. And the doctors know that.

Victoria: But what if we failed?

Cole: We still don’t know exactly what we’re dealing with here. Or to what extent claire is actually involved.

Victoria: I’m trying, all right? I’m trying to cling on to some sort of hope.

Cole: You know, I’ve heard something else about this parenting business. That when your kids are in trouble, you have to eat to keep up your strength. So, let’s do it for her. ‘Cause whatever the day brings, I’m pretty sure that she’s gonna need us.

Summer: Victoria refuses to believe that claire did this.

Nick: You saw her?

Summer: Yes, I went to the tack house last night looking for claire. I got into it with victoria and cole and grandma and grandpa. They want to blame it all on jordan, but there is no way that claire is innocent in all of this.

[ Phone ringing ] Kyle, did you get word?

Kyle: No, nothing yet. I just want to check in with you, see how you’re holding up.

Summer: How do you think I’m holding up? My son has been kidnapped, and you let it happen.

Nick: Summer, um, I think you’re being a little tough on kyle. This has got to be tearing him apart, too.

Phyllis: Um, well, he left his son with a maniac, knowing her history, so it’s really on him. If this were up to me, I would have never, ever done anything like that.

Nick: Kyle is not the only person who is convinced claire has changed.

Summer: You are all wrong.

Diane: Kyle, this is not your fault. You have to know that.

Kyle: Yeah. I, um, I need to make some more calls.

Diane: Yeah, um, maybe we should do that upstairs.

Traci: Yes, okay, thank you so very much. All right, we are all set. You are confirmed for an intake appointment for this morning.

Ashley: Okay.

Traci: Do you want me to go with you?

Ashley: I don’t just want you to, I need you to. I want to know what’s going on, but I’m– I’m kind of terrified to find out.

Traci: Oh, well, don’t worry. We will find out together, okay? I’ll be right there with you. I just need a couple of minutes to get ready, and then we’ll go, okay? Be right back.

Ashley: Okay, thank you. I would’ve called yesterday.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue…

Jack: You have nothing to apologize for.

Ashley: Well, hello, nikki. What are you doing here?

Jack: Uh, we had something to discuss. How are you doing?

Ashley: I’m okay. Uh, traci and I have an appointment, and she’s getting ready.

Jack: Well, good. I know she was waiting to hear back on that one spot. Um, I’m glad that worked out.

Nikki: Is everything all right?

Ashley: Yeah, yeah. Should I be worried about you? It’s awfully early.

Jack: No need to worry about anything. Everything’s gonna work out fine.

Ashley: Yeah, well, I hope so.

Jack: Have you had anything to eat yet? You might want to have some breakfast before you take off.

Ashley: That’s a good idea. Uh, would you tell traci I’m in the kitchen?

Jack: Sure.

Ashley: Thanks.

Jack: Uh, ashley? Good luck. And give me a call after the appointment.

Ashley: Sure. Bye.

Nikki: What was that about?

Jack: What?

Nikki: Well, she seems unsteady.

Jack: She’s dealing with the emotional fallout from tucker.

Nikki: Oh, you mentioned you were concerned that she might take him back. Is that what’s happened?

Jack: Uh, no. He’s made it very clear it is over.

Nikki: And she’s upset about it?

Jack: Could we please talk about something else?

Nikki: Okay, meaning it’s none of my business. I really should go anyway because I really do have a family situation.

Jack: You don’t have to go. There are just certain things I don’t want to get into right now. You are not monopolizing my time.

Nikki: Well, thank you for that lie. But, uh, I should go to the office. Lauren is probably wondering where I am. We’re working on reports today.

Jack: Do you really think you ought to go into the office today?

Nikki: I find it to be therapeutic.

Jack: How about I drive you? You couldn’t resist the bar the last time.

Nikki: I’ll be fine. All right, all right, all right. I– I will call lauren and have her meet me at the ranch. We can work there, all right? And as you noticed, I’m really not dressed for the office.

Jack: I like this idea a lot better.

Nikki: And talking with you really did help. But I’m clearly not the only one who needs you today. Kyle and ashley, they need your attention as well, so…

Jack: Promise me you will call if you feel the urge.

Nikki: I will. Thank you.

Jack: Come on. I’ll walk you out.

Kyle: Dad.

Jack: Wait. You heard something?

Kyle: It’s another text. From claire.

Nick: Summer. I know waiting is the worst. But you have to be strong. And I can’t have you running off and doing anything risky.

Summer: That’s why I can’t just sit here. I can’t sit here when my son is the one that’s out there, at risk. And it seems like jordan and claire will do anything to torture the newmans. Harrison woke up in a strange place this morning. I mean, if he even got any sleep at all. He– he has no idea what’s going on, except for whatever lies those two psychopaths told him. I mean, he’s got to be terrified. And we don’t even know what’s gonna happen to him next.

Phyllis: Okay, listen, listen, listen, listen. Stop that. Don’t let those ideas get in your head.

Nick: We are gonna find him and we are gonna bring him home.

Summer: I’m sorry. I can’t be here. I just can’T.

Nick: Summer. Summer, please.

[ Nick sighing ]

Phyllis: We have to do something.

Nick: Damn it. Jordan is gonna pay. And this time for good.

Jack: What did she say?

Kyle: She wants safe passage for jordan. Out of the country.

Jack: Any details?

Kyle: She says ask victor for details about his last offer. What does that mean?

Jack: I have no idea. I’ll call him right now and ask. What about harrison? Any details about the exchange?

Kyle: Yeah, once jordan is safely away, she says claire will reveal harrison’s location.

Jack: Reveal? I don’t like this.

Kyle: Yeah, neither do I. And why isn’t claire asking for anything for herself? This is all about jordan’s safety. I mean, claire has to know she’s facing kidnapping charges. Dad, this doesn’t make sense.

Jack: None of this makes any sense. But we have to remember we are dealing with one, maybe two, deranged women. Look, let’s stick with victor. We’ll share the text with him and find out about this last offer. Head & shoulders bare clinically proven dandruff

Nikki: Oh, lauren, you beat me here.

Lauren: Well, I was already on my way in when I got your message to come to the ranch. Nikki, michael has filled me in. It’s insanity. I can’t believe you’ve already been up and out. You– you must be exhausted. I can’t imagine that you slept much last night.

Nikki: I didn’t sleep at all.

Lauren: You want a drink, don’t you?

Nikki: I can’t keep anything from you. I’ve already had one. Okay, two. In a moment of panic in the early hours. But I managed to stop and I went and saw jack.

Lauren: Thank goodness.

Nikki: Yeah, he was a lifesaver, as usual. Even though his family is dealing with the same situation.

Lauren: I know firsthand how draining living in constant fear is.

Nikki: Yes, of course, you do. Sheila.

Lauren: It’s unbearable. And I certainly wasn’t carrying the added burden that you are. You know what? Let’s put work on hold and– and you go to a meeting.

Nikki: Well, I– I sure could use one, but…

Lauren: Are you afraid you’re gonna miss an update with harrison?

Nikki: Well, that’s part of it. But on the way to the meeting, I pass by two bars and a liquor store and I don’t trust myself.

Lauren: Then, let me go with you.

Nikki: You would do that?

Lauren: I insist.

Victoria: Why isn’t there any news?

Cole: Well, it must mean kyle hasn’t gotten any more instructions from jordan.

Victoria: How can there be no trail on jordan? I mean, this has to be her plan. She either hijacked that truck herself or she arranged for it. And why is there no sign of her on any street traffic cameras? There’s no witnesses? Look, I know my dad’s team is working together with jack’s and the police department, but why haven’t they found anything yet?

Cole: Because jordan is ingenious. She is damn good at being evil.

Victoria: But what are their demands? What– what are they? Why is she dragging this out? This is like agony. And what’s worse is harrison– I mean, come on, he’s just a little boy.

Cole: I– I– I know, and there’s no doubt that jordan is getting some kind of pleasure out of torturing all of us and just leaving us in limbo.

Victoria: Why did she drag the abbotts into this in the first place? Why?

Cole: Because summer. Summer is– is harrison’s stepmom now, and– and she’s a newman.

Victoria: But she’s always directed her hate towards my dad and my mom and you and me and nicholas. Claire’s immediate family.

Cole: Wait, there’s just no point in trying to– to look into the logic when it comes down to jordan. She had no reason to let us believe that our baby died, but she did it.

Victoria: I have to believe that claire is innocent, which means that she might be in danger. What if jordan plans to hurt her? What if she already has? I can’t lose our daughter again.

Victor: My order to you is to keep doing it until you follow up on every lead. Is that clear?

Jack: I take it your team has come up empty as well.

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: Yeah. All tips leading to jordan’s whereabouts have not panned out.

Jack: Okay, well we have some news.

Kyle: Another text saying we should ask you about a previous offer you made to jordan.

Jack: What does that mean?

Victor: It means that I set a trap. I offered that disaster enough money to move to the south of france and live in a chateau for the rest of her life. With a new identity.

Jack: But she somehow managed to get free?

Victor: That’s because she took her own poison. And then nikki called 911. They took her into custody and she escaped from that.

Jack: Well, apparently, your offer was enticing enough for her to pull this stunt in the hopes of finally getting it.

Kyle: Only this time, she’s using harrison for leverage.

Victor: What about claire?

Kyle: There’s been no mention of anything for claire.

Victor: Ah. That means that claire wasn’t involved in any of this. My dry eye’s made me a burning,

Traci: Okay, are you ready to do this?

Ashley: No, I’m not. I’m terrified.

Traci: Well, ashley, this doctor is gonna get to the bottom of what’s going on with you.

Ashley: That’s what frightens me, what she’s gonna say.

Traci: Well, I’ll be right there with you. And we’re all behind you, 100%. Finding out what’s wrong with you is– is the first step in getting better. It’s the first step of finding some peace.

Ashley: I know. I hope so. I hope you’re right.

Traci: Ashley, I’m so proud of you. Facing this head on.

Ashley: I don’t think you should be very proud of me. From what I understand, I said some horrible things and I would probably regret it if I could actually remember it.

Traci: I don’t care about any of that. I care about you. You’re doing the right thing. You’ve got this. And I am right there with you.

Phyllis: I want to be positive. But when I think of harrison. And then, he’s in the hands of this jordan person after everything you guys told me about her.

Nick: Look, she didn’t beat us last time. She’s not gonna beat us this time.

Phyllis: Oh, god. I just– I’m so frustrated. I want to break something. I just wanna take those bitches out, you know?

Nick: I know.

Phyllis: And then I just want to hug our daughter. I mean, our baby is so, so scared about her own baby. I just want to hold her until harrison comes back safe and sound.

Nick: We have to find her boy. And bring him home.

Kyle: I thought the same thing. This must all be jordan. If claire is a part of this, she has to know she’s blown up her life. There’s no coming back from this.

Jack: It does seem like protection for herself would be part of this bargain.

Victor: I guess there’s only one way to find out. We stand by the deal. As long as harrison is safe.

Jack: Well, that is the hitch.

Kyle: She says they’ll only release harrison once jordan’s safely away. I mean, how can we agree to that? It gives us no leverage.

Victor: Return a text to them and tell them… on my behalf, the deal stands. As long as they deliver harrison to us safely.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

whoa I hope I’m not interrupting anything. No, no, no, no, no. God. I could use the break. You wouldn’t think that protecting a community would require so much paperwork. It’s been a while. Been in the room at the same time. Have you missed my chair-stacking abilities? No. Still — still not good. No. I just, uh, I haven’t seen you. Have you been hitting another meeting or… well, I can give you a whole lot of reasons why, but it all boils down to other things taking precedence. It happens. I know that people slack off from time to time, but if I continue to do it in this way for this long… I may risk everything. Dinner has arrived. Good. I did not feel like cooking tonight. Aww. I feel you, but I’m glad we could help. How are you? Great. And you? How’s your day? I’m fine. Finn not home? Not yet. The babysitter just left. What are we having for dinner? We are having turkey burgers, fries, and salad. And your dad better hurry up, or he’s gonna miss out. We’ll have fries — if it’s okay for me to use finn’s air fryer. Well, of course it is. Just be sure to tell him how much you love it. It’ll make his day. Got it.

[ Coughs ] Why don’t you guys go unload the stuff in the kitchen and get started? Help yourselves to whatever you need in there. Better show them where everything is. Good thinking.

[ Laughs ] Are you okay with a turkey burger? Uh, if you’re asking me if I’m gonna be able to hold it or will I fumble it all over myself from the table and…half the floor… your guess is as good as mine. I was asking you if you’re in the mood for it. Oh. Sorry. YH. Burger sounds great. Good. And for the record, whether you hold it, drop it, or wear it, it’s still gonna taste really good.

[ Both chuckle ] What’s going on with jake? Oh. Never mind. I think I know. The smells coming out of that kitchen are making me nuts. I cannot wait to dig into this very green… chicken. I was pretty free with the spinach. I went with our honeymoon theme — chicken florentine. Italy. You are so sweet for doing this. How’d I get so lucky? First you. Now this. Okay. I’ve made dinner before. It’s not that big of a deal. And I love you for doing this. And I love all the extra work that you did in the kitchen to make this happen. I love you for selling your truck, but I hate the fact that you don’t have it anymore.

Look. The truck was just A… silly guy thing. I had no idea you were so attached to it. Attached to you. You love that truck. No. I love you. Besides, it’s not like I need the truck to haul lumber or bales of hay or anything like that. Whatever you say. Brook lynn…did you have a picture in your mind of you standing in the truck bed, holding a “just married” sign, with tin cans hanging from the bumper? I do now, and I would’ve loved that. Though, at the moment, I would much rather lucy coe dangling from that bumper. Yeah. I, uh, saw what happened on “home & heart.” I’m sorry that video launch of deception’s new cream was so…problematic. If sasha hadn’t come when she did, we’d still be hearing about the trials and triumphs of lucy coe. Yeah. Sasha was pretty great. Because she’s gracious and — and charming, and she made it clear to the viewers that they should buy deception’s new cream. Lucy made it clear to the viewers that she needs therapy. Got a little better when scott got there. He at least mentioned the cream. The “home & heart” new product launch w-was supposed to be another step in deception’s financial rebound. Well, I’m on track to get a raise at the pcpd’s next fiscal year. You’re on track? You should just get it right now. No one’s better at their job than you are, and you work harder than almost anyone. Well, if I do get the raise… …I think that we should invest the money in some property, build a little forest getaway, and then maybe that truck will come in handy. You realize we don’t have to wait, right? We could buy five new trucks, five forest getaways. We could probably buy five forests. Brook lynn, do we need to have the money talk again? As in your family has all the money and I have a decent government salary. We probably should. But first I just need to take a couple bites of this gorgeous green chicken to fortify myself. I don’t know if gregory told you, but I am so sorry. I’m not gonna be able to make chase’s wedding. Oh. I’m sorry to hear that. Did you get a better offer? I got a different offer. Who? Diane has made it her mission to get my disbarment vacated. Well, that’s green news. It’s shocking news. I would not have thought after all this time. I mean, the chances of them wanting to review my disbarment is…I thought, highly improbable. Till it became not so improbable. It became real. I have a hearing with the appellate division of the new york state supreme court in manhattan the day after chase’s wedding. But I have to be there 24 hours in advance. I’m sure chase and brook lynn, they’ll be disappointed, but, um, they’ll be thrilled by the reason. Getting a hearing does indicate that the court feels there’s sufficient grounds to take a second look. Hey, if anybody deserves a second chance. I don’t know about that. Why would you say that? Because maybe I got the justice I deserved the first time, when the court smacked me down. I don’t know about the court smacking you down, but you’re doing a pretty good job of doing it yourself. I know I didn’t suborn perjury and I didn’t perjure myself, but I did lie to the medical board, and i was under oath. So when the disciplinary committee took action, I didn’t think it was appropriate to contest it. I get it. You needed to punish yourself. When we don’t think we’re worth saving, we don’t even try. I don’t think that either one of us was, uh, consciously trying to impede the pursuit of justice. Uh, I’m just saying that, well, I know I’m guilty of — of not seeing clearly what was right in front of me. I’m sorry. This has been weighing on me for a long time. I think you’re gonna have to be a bit more specific. I’m talking about my friendship with sonny. Sonny. Oh. Mm. Yeah. I-I know you two have a history. Yes. Yeah.

[ Chuckles softly ] Well, luke and sonny were friends. The club that luke owned was originally owned by sonny. Paradise lounge. Yeah. Such an ironic name in retrospect. To say that it was a disreputable place would be a compliment. I think eventually they just shut it down and then luke and sonny, uh, turned that space into luke’s blues club, and…they really bonded over that. They became very close, and since then, sonny has done a lot of things to help a lot of people that I love. He did for robin. He was there for my daughter in ways I-I couldn’t be. Yeah. He’s done a lot of good. He really has. Especially for the hospital. And the thing is… I really believed that, uh, we had a bond. I did too. He listened to me… throughout that whole… you know, when the — the double-agent thing came out. I considered him a friend, albeit an unconventional one. “Considered.” Past tense? An individual walked through this door into my office and told me flat out that sonny had ordered him to kill someone. Sonny ordered a hit. I guess — yeah.

[ Sighs ] Wow. I knew in theory what sonny did for a living, but, um, I guess I didn’t allow myself to think about what it meant in practice. He’s charming and generous… and has decent impulses, no question. But charm has no moral weight, and impulse is… it’s not character. I feel so ashamed now that… that it took me so long to wake up and — and see him for everything that he is. Laura, for a time, I felt like he and I, we shared this understanding of darkness that no one else shared. I mean, what — I didn’t allow myself to play out what that was, what that actually meant. Okay.

[ Exhales deeply ] Well, my friendship with sonny was never a secret. So I’m just here to say that if you ever felt inclined to go easy on sonny because of me, I’m telling you now, don’T.

I realize now that sonny has a very dark side, one that he can keep hidden from most people. But I got the chance to see what that side was capable of when I saw my brother lying in that hospital bed and I realized that sonny is a violent and dangerous time bomb that could go off whenever he decides that it’s necessary. Yeah. That sounds about right. And I know that cyrus has done the same and probably a lot worse. But you know what? Cyrus is not as skilled as sonny at not getting caught. Right. Well, he’s not a generous philanthropist that has woven himself into the very fabric of this city for the past few years. I know. I… but I am still struggling with knowing what he is capable of doing, that he could do what he did to my brother with just his bare hands. And in church. You know, I-I talked to cyrus, and he said that he would not testify against him and there were no other witnesses. And I knew that sonny would lie about whatever charges I filed against him. And as we’re learning, sonny is really good at lying. Yeah. Okay. I think, uh, I think I’ll be going. Okay. Thank you for coming in. Yeah. I appreciate it. Thank you. Uh, so if, uh, the opportunity presents itself for you to pursue this case… I will be ready. You can count on it. Thank you.

[ Door opens ] My wine guy had several choices to pair with tonight’s dinner, but I chose the pinot grigio because it’s italian. Like the chicken. And the woman I love. I love you too, and I love this wine. And I think I’ve had enough of it to, um… to have the money conversation. So, tracy and I talked. Hold on. Let me get a pen. Whoa, whoa. For what? So I can sign the prenup that tracy drew up and we can get back to the wine. Drink the wine. There is no prenup. It’s — it’s fine, okay? I’m fine with signing it. I thought about it, and — and I want you to feel safe. I do feel safe. I do too. Which is why I’m safe saying that nothing is ever going to happen to our marriage, which means that this prenup means nothing. So we will put it in a drawer, and we’ll pull it out in 50 years, and we’ll see how much my signature changed. We both know your signature changes depending on your mood. Remember when — when your team lost and you had to sign the pizza delivery guy’s receipt? The pen almost went through his hand.

[ Laughs ] There is no prenup. You got, um, another bottle, didn’t you? Okay. How about this? If for some reason our marriage falls apart, then I walk away with nothing more than I brought to the marriage. I appreciate the offer. Ah. But you’re not gonna take it. Because according to brook lynn’s teachings, you never take the first offer.

[ Laughs ] I couldn’t be prouder. Look. Our marriage isn’t gonna fail. I know it, and you know it. So the conversation we really need to be having isn’t about what happens if we split up. It’s about what happens when we don’T. I’m glad diane’s in your corner, ’cause it doesn’t sound like you are. I’m just being cautious. I do have a history with me. History’s in the past. It’s done. My apologies to you and mr. Faulkner. But the past is not dead. The past isn’t even in the past. It’s right here. And that side of me that is capable of doing horrible things or self-sabotaging may be in the back seat right now, but it’s always around there, lurking somewhere. You and I have talked about this, right? We’re wired the same way, and sometimes that makes us always focus on the negative things first, all right? And then the good things, they all come in, like, tenth place. But that doesn’t mean they’re to be ignored, all right? Some really wonderful things have come out of your past. My girls. Best thing that ever happened to me. Nothing even comes close. You know, I often refer to them as little roombas because they’re always wandering here and there and everywhere. But eventually they always get right back on track and come back to mom. See, you must have done a lot of things right to end up with three daughters as great as the ones you have. Mm. You know, other than my girls, I feel like the most good that I’ve ever done in the world has been through my legal career, because I’ve been able, in some very small way, to move the needle of justice forward. And I want to do that again. I want to feel good like that. Yes! Yes, and if the court case goes the way it should, you will. All right, so I just need to not get in my own way and stay sober. And you and I both know that if I lose this case, I will want to drink to console myself, and if I win it, I’m gonna want to celebrate. Yeah. Life doesn’t make it easy, does it? You know, molly is — is already worried about me. If I slip up again, my girls may be done with me. You’re — you’re not gonna let that happen. I’m here. I will be here tomorrow and the next day and the next day and the next day. And if I’m not here and you’re here, you better call me out on it. Okay. Alexis, I’m watching my dad die slowly before my eyes. And after treating him poorly for most of his life, I have a few months to make up for it. So I’ll be there for you if you promise the same for me. Always, my friend. Mm! Thank you.

How’s it going in there? All good. It would be great, though, if aiden could make the cheese fries instead of regular ones. I’m all for it if it’s okay with your mom. You think I’d say no to cheese fries? Is your brother helping? He was, but now he’s on his phone. Okay. Uh, well, just yell if you guys need any — we got this. Okay.

[ Laughs ] It ‘s none of my business, but I’m guessing that the, uh, tension level has risen a few notches in your house since jake’s father came back in the picture. Yeah. Actually, I was — I was hoping to talk to you about this. I know there was a time when finn rejected you. And even though the situations are — are completely different, there is a form of that happening with jake. He doesn’t want to talk about jason. He — he doesn’t want to acknowledge his name. He’s so, so angry. And obviously you didn’t just up and leave your kid without any notice whatsoever. So I don’t know. Maybe you — maybe you don’t have any advice to offer. Sounds like jake’s not the only one who’s angry.

[ Chuckles softly ] No, he’s not. Believe me. But he is the one that’s most crippled by it. Sometimes I think that anger is just our way of punishing ourselves when the one we really want to hurt is someone we love and can’t let go of. I can’t tell you how much I loved finn’s mom. Watchi ng her die was the worstthing that ever happened to me. Worse than waking up now, each morning, to discover what else als has stolen from me. But then I met jackie. She was so young and vibrant, and she made me feel alive again. Maybe it — it was a rebound. But we loved each other, and I wanted be in love again so badly. It didn’t feel wrong to me. It didn’t feel like I was being unfaithful to the memory of my late wife. But that’s how finn saw it. It’s the way he had to see it. Otherwise, he would be being disloyal to his mother. And, oh, the anger that he channeled my way.

[ Chuckles softly ] But like anything that hot and intense, it had to eventually exhaust itself. And it did. And what remained is the loving father-son relationship that you see now. So maybe j ake just needs to lethis anger burn itself out so he can get to his own now. You know that anything you or your father need, I’ll be there. Thank you. I just want to let you know that I-I saw gregory recently and he didn’t look very good. I know. I know, and, uh, like you, I’m struggling to hang on to my sobriety while I reflect on my past. Alexis, I was not a good son. My dad did nothing but good, and I… I treated him very badly. You’ve changed. You’ve made amends. You’re not the same person anymore. Yeah. But he knows where I live. Now my dad, he’s turned inward, you know? He won’t let me go to any of his doctor’s appointments with him. He won’t let me see any of his test results. And all he does is give me these glowing reports about how well he’s doing, and all I have to do one look at him and I know he’s lying. Yeah. Well, you being a doctor and his son, he’s — he’s picked the wrong guy to try to bluff, huh? He’s holding himself together by sheer force of will so he can make it to chase’s wedding. It means a lot to him. It does. It’s good, right? Chase is the good son. I’m the one that… I’m the one that wronged my dad. And I turned it around in my head to make myself right. It takes a lot of time and energy to convince yourself that everyone else is the problem, not you.

[ Laughing ] Yeah, I know the syndrome. I know. I stay up at night. I think about all the time I lost with my family, the lost days that became lost years. I… I don’t sleep much anymore. Nobody can punish us like we can. My dad was devoted to my mom. He was there for her. When she died so young, I… I was just angry. I was angry at everyone. And so when he met jackie and she helped him move on and she made him happy, I found this way to… punish him for it. Sleeping with her before the wedding, before their wedding, I… what kind of son does that? My mother kept us away from the quartermaine money. I mean, she knew it was there, but she had a pretty good career as a music manager. The quartermaine money wasn’t always a gift. Was ned around? Yeah, enough. Pretty sure he paid child support. It’s not like I-I ever felt like I didn’t have two parents. And my grandparents, my aunts, my uncles, my cousins, all the people who might have been cousins, they were always around. So that’s why the guest list at our wedding was so long.

[ Laughs ] And I only invited the ones that I like. Some of my relatives had a house. Some of them got one gifted to them in a will. But none of us were rich. We were comfortable in bensonhurst. My upbringing was probably a lot quieter than yours, but we were pretty middle class too. I want that kind of life for our kids — a life full of — of love that makes them feel safe. And look. I know there are gonna be bumps along the way. But they will be surrounded by family who will take them by the hand and help them. You don’t think there’ll be parts of the family that want to take their hand and put a bunch of money in it? Oh, there definitely will be. You know my family. That’s obviously gonna happen. But there’s two of us, and we can fend them off. And yeah, it’ll be a little tricky to have a normal life, especially in port charles. But it’s not impossible. If we’re together, nothing’s impossible. And there you go. You know, I think what granny was really after with that prenup, it wasn’t about protecting my trust or my inheritances from you. It was about protecting us from what the insanity of that kind of money can bring. I never thought I’d say this, but… I think tracy has the right idea.

That’s what I think, and I thinkthat tracy would agree. We’re young, we’re healthy, we have careers that we love, and between us, we’re comfortable. I’m with you so far. Okay. We take the interest from your trust fund and any other funds that you have and we put it into a savings account for our kids. You know, it’ll be for education and…shoes. Exactly what kind of shoes are you thinking? It — I — it sounds good. It’ll be a safety net — in case something comes up. Like a shoe emergency. Or a medical emergency. Or if we want to help out a loved one. And I’m sure there’s charities that we’d like to support. I like the sound of that. The only thing I care about our kids inheriting is the good stuff that we bring to their lives — honesty, compassion, a strong work ethic. You bring so much more than that. And, you know, granny told me that, um, no one would want to live off their spouse’s money, which was a very weird thing for her to say, considering all the guys in her life did just that. I never understood her taste in men. But I do understand where she’s coming from. I always want to feel like I can serve and protect this family. You see what I did there? Yeah, I did. And I think that I bring value to our marriage. I mean, I can sing. Yeah, you can. I can cook. I can attest to that. I can catch the bad guys. Some might even say that it’s your dollars against my collars. I will never say that. I ask you to meet, and then I keep you waiting. I’m so sorry. I’m always happy to wait for my sister. And I used the time to try to figure out the reason behind your unprecedented invitation. And what’d you come up with? Nothing.

[ Laughs ] I decided just to be grateful for the chance to spend some time with you. Well, good. I’m glad we’re doing this, then. Okay. You’re looking well. Oh, t-thank you. I-I’m feeling good. I’m getting stronger every day. I-I try to look at my time at G.H. As just an extended spa stay. You’re joking, uh, but what happened to you in that church was no joke, cyrus. And it’s in the past. Well, I’ve been thinking about it an awful lot lately. And if you chose not to press charges against sonny because of me and because of my friendship with him, then I want you to reconsider.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Hello, handsome.

That’s all I get back? That’s no way to greet a woman with fantastic news. See, my new client is over the moon. Impressed as hell with my, uh, Legal prowess, which means, ka ching!

Hello, handsome. Oh,

that’s all I get back? That’s no way to greet a woman with fantastic news. See, my new client is over the moon, impressed as hell with my legal prowess. Which means Ka ching! Hello? Do you have any idea how much cha ching that might be? Baby, don’t tell me you’re still worried about our money. Listen, how can I not?

I’ve been going through our finances again. We’re having serious problems, Sloan. Constantine Meliodas,

that’s right. Mm hmm. I want you to scan public records and also look into birth certificates, death certificates, marriage license, church records, anything that can lead us to Constantine Sachs. Es Cristo. I really appreciate it, and I will anxiously await your call. Where are you, Ms. Melionis, and what If anything, do you know?

I

will find a way to stay, Katharina. To finish what I started. That is a promise.

Hands where I can see them. I need you to see something. And tell me what it means, and I will go away.

The card! It was right here! Where the hell is it? Hold me and let me get into a hazmat. Help

is on the way. The first responders will get here as soon as they can get through, until then we just have to sit tight. Damn it, Tim, where, where, where could she be? Oh honey, she could have slipped in the ice. She could be just turned around in the snow. Yeah, uh, visibility is pretty bad out there. She could have just lost the trail.

I just, I just came back to get the sled in case, in case she’s hurt or something. Look, I gotta get back out there and find my wife and I’m not coming back until I do. I don’t have to say this again, I know, but please be careful out there. Yeah.

Hey, Doc. John, I need your help. What’s going on? It’s Paulina. She’s gone. She was supposed to be isolating in her hospital room. Maybe they took her down for more tests? No, I checked the portal. She was meant to stay in her room until her radiation levels were low enough for her to leave. The nurse even checked the bathroom.

Her hospital gown and her robe were here, but there is no sign of her. Oh, geez. Now what that means That means Polia could be exposing people to harmful levels of radiation. My daughter is missing?!

Oh God, you heard me. Tell me the truth, Julie. How long has Chanel been missing? And where is Johnny? Okay, this is exactly what happened. Johnny went out to get some firewood. And he was gone a while, and Chanel thought he’d been gone too long, so she went out to find him. About ten minutes went by. Then Johnny came back with firewood, but no Chanel.

So, now Johnny’s gone out again to find Chanel. Oh, my lord. I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I, I, I didn’t want to worry you because there’s no reason to worry. I’m sure the two of them are going to be just walking through that door any second now.

I’m so glad I caught you. Doug filled me in on everything. Please tell me that Chanel is safe. No, no, not yet. Uh, Johnny has just gone out to look for her again. What about the first responders? Well, they can’t get through. Uh, the, the road to the cabin is completely blocked. Oh, wait a minute. I I I think that’s him.

Listen, baby, I’ll call you back. I’ll call you back.

Oh, my God!

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Paulina? Uh, stand back. Aren’t you supposed to be in isolation? Yes, yes I am, but I couldn’t sit in that room when my baby girl was missing. Well Johnny just went outside to find her. Well, what are we doing standing here? You go one way, I’ll go the other. Oh, right. So have you used this accounting system before?

Many times. Yeah? Well, I don’t know if it’s software or what, because it’s in the red. Well, are you sure we’ve considered, you know, the expenses of a newborn baby? Yeah, a hundred percent, because I’ve been extremely careful when it comes to that. Mind if I take a look? Yeah, sure. Okay.

Alright. And there is the problem. Honey, and this is how you solve it. What are you doing? Some of these entries are fixed and some of them are variables. Meaning? Meaning fixed expenses remain static for a set period of time. Oops. Whereas the variables will fluctuate. Yep, it’s really all just a matter of knowing how to navigate the tabs at the bottom of the screen.

It’s quite simple, actually, when you get used to it. If it’s that simple, then why are people still using accounts? Because people are lazy. Because for most people, this isn’t fun. But lucky for you, I don’t mind doing it. So, I’m going to sit here and work on it and you can let your brain just relax, okay? I promise, I’ll work it out.

Now, where is our beautiful baby boy? Um, he’s in the crib, unless he’s learned to levitate. Do not even joke like that. I’m gonna go get him, because I think we could all use a little Jude cuddle time, okay? Yeah, sure. Okay.

Mrs. Kiriakis, this just came for you. Oh, thank you, Ellie. Um Could you get me some more tea, please? Thank you, dear.

Is everything all right, Mrs. Kiriakis? No. No, I’m afraid it’s not.

John, anything? Not from Greece, no, but I just learned that Chanel Dupree is missing. What? Missing? Snowstorm. She and Johnny went up to the Horton cabin. Yeah, I knew that. Yeah, well, Chanel went out, never came back. Johnny called 911, the ferries aren’t running. First responders can’t get over the bridge until it’s plowed.

So he’s out there searching for her? No, not by himself. According to Public Works, our mayor, a. k. a. Paulina Price, has commandeered a snow plow and has gone across the bridge to Smith Island, so she’s out there looking for Chanel on her own. So that’s why she left isolation. Wow. We have to notify the first responders.

They can’t go anywhere near her. She’s radioactive. Is

he not the most precious creature you’ve ever seen? It’s amazing how settled down he’s become since the christening. Yeah, God works in mysterious ways, right? Yeah, he sure does. Maybe I should be more specific, and my prayer is to get more clients. You’re not so stressed about that, are you, babe? Look, I know that work’s been slow, but with the receivables from Steph and Damir, things are gonna look up.

I promise. Listen, I just don’t want you to have to carry the entire load. I don’t mind. Well, I do. You know what? I’ve actually been, I’ve been thinking a lot about this and I think I’m gonna start putting a little bit more focus into editorial photography. That’s a great idea. Maybe you can work for the Spectator.

Or Bella. Even though I think the Spectator will probably pay more because it’s daily versus monthly. And Bella’s launch kind of was a flop, I heard. Yeah, I heard that too. So why don’t you go and see if you can persuade someone at the Spectator that your brilliant photography is invaluable to them. You know what, I think I’m gonna do that.

Will you be okay with Jude for a few hours? Come on, of course. Good luck. Okay.

Oh,

your daddy’s such a good man, Jude. He’s trusting and kind. Oh, but dear God, if he knew that you and Nicole were your real parents, he would have He would never trust me again, Woody. He would actually never want to have anything to do with me. We just can’t have that, can we? That’s why it’s our little secret.

So I can be your mommy forever. Is there anything I can

do to help, Mrs. Kiriakis? Not just the tea. Thank you, Ellie. Is it you who cleaned my room? Well, something very important of mine is missing. A red and black card, like a playing card, about this big. Have you seen it? Are you sure? Perhaps you threw it out. Or maybe you stole it. Constantine? How dare you talk to Ellie like that?

I am so terribly sorry for my outburst, Ellie. It was completely unfair for me to make that accusation. Yes, it was. Ellie has been a model employee for several years. I understand. But The card that went missing, it is of tremendous sentimental value to me. It is a memento I have had since the time my daughter died.

But again, I am terribly sorry. I should not have taken my frustration out on you. I’ll ask the staff if anyone has seen the card. Thank you.

I have never seen you like this. Constantine. You know how I am when it comes to my daughter, Catarina and a card. It is something that she carried with her when she wore her costume for a Procre the year she died. Pore. Yes, it is the Greek version of Mardi Gras or Halloween. I see. Well, the card is in his house somewhere.

We’ll find it. Thank you very much for reassuring me. I do apologize for the way I behaved. I am sorry for the way I have acted. It’s all right. Ellie obviously has forgiven you, and so do I. Maggie, you always have a way of calming me down. Well, I don’t know, um, how calm you’ll be when I tell you what I just learned.

What have you learned? Unfortunately, Constantine, it’s unsettling news.

All right. First responders have been notified of the radiation threat. Now, I offered to go up there myself, but they said, no, just just sit tight. We got a hand on this. What was Paulina thinking? Obviously she wasn’t thinking, Doc. Come on, she just went full Mama Bear mode and just put her blinders on.

This is like the plot of a bad B movie, you know? Except that it isn’t funny. Paulina is exposing everybody she comes in contact with to radiation. Obviously all she cared about was saving her daughter. And if anybody knows a thing about that, it’s you and me. I’ve been nearly losing Sammy, and then, uh, Doc, we’ve been there.

Yeah, we have. I remember those difficult times. We got through them, because you were strong. You were amazing. And you, you helped me stay strong, keep the faith. You kept me from falling apart. Funny. Because I remember you being the strong one keeping me together through the whole thing. No. Yeah. You got it backwards.

No, no, no. But I appreciate you thinking me that way. Thank you for the credit for being strong when I actually wasn’t. It’s cause you’re my person. And I love you with all my heart and I still consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth just to be able to be with you. Share my life with you, Doc.

Gosh, and I feel the same way. I’m just lucky you are so amazing. You are, actually. Might be wrong. I told you. Oh,

easy, baby. Easy. I can’t believe you came looking for me. I’m so, so damn relieved that I found you. You just sit, sit there on the sofa, okay?

Uh, when I first, first heard your voice, I, I thought it was the angels. I was hearing . Oh no. Just me. Oh, no. We don’t need the angels visiting you for a long, long time. Well, you are my angel. You’re on Earth. Oh. Oh. Chanel what’s was the whimper? , or when I heard that, I thought, yep, that’s my baby . I know that whimper.

Anyway. I think that I must have, uh, slipped through the snow and then got caught between those rocks. And I was trying to get out and I tried and I tried but I just couldn’t get through. And then I was, I was like trying not to panic. Yeah, shh, shh, shh. It’s okay now, baby. It’s okay, sweetheart. Hey, wait.

Mama, aren’t you supposed to be in the hospital? Yes, yes, I am. But, I, I, well. I guess I shouldn’t have left, but, uh, when I heard that you were missing, oh, honey, it was like, it was like the world suddenly turned dark. And, well, I just couldn’t, I couldn’t sit there and do nothing. I had to find my baby. I had to find my precious daughter.

You have a good nap, sweetie, while mommy makes a phone call.

Lady Whistleblower here. What can you tell me that’s either funny, raunchy, mind blowing, appalling, or ideally all of the above? Cut the crap, Leo. You know it’s me. Ah, yes, my friend, enemy, co conspirator wrapped up into one long legged grouchy package. To what do I owe the pleasure? Look, Eric sent his way over to the office.

Really? To see me because I’m such great company, not to mention a laugh riot and he can’t get enough of me? To ask about photography work. I was hoping that you could help him out. As much as I would love to work with your hunky husband. Also great company, though definitely not a laugh riot. We have a full time shutterbug on staff.

Leo? He needs this. And so do I. A bit of context, please. Oh, come on. You’ve got to be kidding me. You know what this is about. Finances. He wants to make more money. Well, Sloane, while I am flattered that you reached out thinking I have even a smidgen of power here, although I am certainly beloved and respected for being a great writer, I do not.

Listen, fairy godfather, I’m not taking no for an answer. So I need you to work some of that Leo magic, okay? Because you’re not only beloved and respected, according to you, of course, but no one knows better than I how persuasive and charming you can be when you set your mind to it. Oh, I do love it when you kiss up.

I’m counting on you, Leo. And remember your vow of silence with regard to certain delicate subjects, okay? Unless you want your wings clipped. Oh, and here come the threats. Just make sure Eric gets the job. Or else. Hold up, Miss Bossy Pants. I’m the one blackmailing you, not the other way around, okay?

I’m sorry, I gotta go. Leo!

This is a lovely surprise. Sorry, I didn’t call. No apology necessary. You are welcome here anytime, whether it’s announced, unexpected, or just plain random and spontaneous. Who are you blackmailing these days? Oh, who am I not blackmailing? That’s the real question. No, no, no. Blackmail is probably too strong a word.

It’s more of a tactic. See, some of my lady whistleblower sources need to think that if they don’t give me something really juicy, I’m going to print a nasty old blind item pointed right at them. Gossip really is a dirty business. God knows. Anyway, what’s up? Well, I was kind of hoping I’d catch Everett or Chad.

Just as long as it’s not Xander. Let me guess, but I’m going to do it Jeopardy style. This guy is throwing his hat in the ring at the spectator for any photography work he might be able to snag. Who is Eric? Hey! Eric. And that was the Daily Double. So, you are in the money, my friend. Aren’t you, uh No, I was kind of looking out to see if there was anything.

Job related. I, uh, just intuitive that way. Sorry to say though, I am here solo today. Xander and Chad are at that DA’s presser, and Everett, I believe, is still out trying to find himself. As we all are, of course, because to quote Aristotle, knowing oneself is the beginning of all wisdom. Right. But if you have a portfolio, or a link to a digital one, I would be more than happy to put in a good word for the father of my fairy godchild.

Uh, yeah. I can send you a link right now. Fantastic.

Oh, those poor kids. All they wanted was a mini honeymoon and they ended up with a blizzard. And now Chanel’s missing. Let’s hope they find her. It’s all we’ve been hoping for. I’m so glad you’re here. I’m so glad you’re not in Greece.

Doc, there are so many holes in my memory about what happened there and why. And now Steve is as determined to get to the truth as I am. He’s a good friend. And a great PI, so we’re on this, Doc. We’re putting feelers out there to try to find Constantine’s ex and see if she knows anything. Who knows? Maybe she was there when this whole thing went down.

Maybe, oh, I don’t know, maybe that’s the reason they got a divorce. Or maybe, or maybe what, John? Come on, just say it. Maybe you shouldn’t do anything until you’re prepared for what you’ll find.

Tell me Maggie, what is the bad news? I heard back from my legal team. And, uh, they tried every angle. Uh, but yet they did not find a path forward. To extending your visa. I see. I am so, so sorry, Constantine. No, no, no, no, no. Do not be sorry. You have nothing to apologize for. You’ve gone above and beyond. But to no avail, obviously.

Right.

Well, I’m going to miss the place. So very much.

And you, most of all.

I’ll miss you too. I was, um Hopeful that we could figure out something. You know, find a way for you to stay. I will go pack my bags.

Your Uncle Leo better come through. Otherwise he’s going to lose a lot more than his very godfather title. Link received. I will make sure Chad gets it ASAP. Like I said, I’ll do everything I can to help the father of my favorite little man. I appreciate that, Leo. Speaking of that little man, he gets more and more adorable by the day, doesn’t he?

I’m a bit pious, but, uh, I think he does. I know he does. Look, if you guys can ever squeeze me in for a visit, or if ever you need a babysitter again, let me know. I adore that little kid. Oh. I think he likes me too. No, he does. And you know why? He lights up when he sees you. Oh, you’re just saying that. No, really, truly.

I mean, he really likes being around you. Well, that makes my day. It’s too bad Jude is the only person in this town who lights up when he sees me, though. Come on, that’s not true. People tolerate me, which is different from being liked, of course. It’s not that I don’t understand it, I’m not exactly what you would call a great guy, you know?

Mind you, I have my moments, and I strive to be that. Well, decent, anyway. But I have a long way to go. And to quote Aristotle again, I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies. For the hardest victory is over self. So true. Yeah, so true.

I have to be ready for the truth of what happened in Aria. And, if you were my therapist and not my wife, I think you would probably be encouraging me to follow Mike Nutt here and not worry about something that hasn’t even happened yet. You had to use that one on me, didn’t you? It’s my guy from Greece.

Constantine Melionis married Elizabeth Sedaris. October 13th, 1970 in Adia, Greece. Call me now. We got it, Doc. Better make that call.

Hey, Paulina. Hey, it’s, uh, it’s Johnny. Johnny? Did you find her? No, not yet. But, Julie’s calling for help. Alright, and, uh, and I’m sorry. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. Well, how long has she been missing? I don’t know, maybe 30, 40 minutes? My God! Oh, she’s out, out there in the snowstorms, cold, she could freeze to death!

Okay, but Paulina? Please don’t panic, alright? I will find her. I’ll search this whole island if I have to. You better! Oh, my poor baby girl. It’s a snowstorm out there. She’s cold and alone.

Oh, I can not just sit here and do nothing. Oh, Oh. Oh. Oh. Hey, Shelby. Shelby, it’s me. Yes, you need to connect me to the Salem Public Works. Now!

I shouldn’t have been that close to you, baby girl, when I brought you inside. Okay, well, it already happened, so there’s no need to beat yourself up about it. I pray to God it wasn’t a mistake. You were just doing what you thought was right, and just Happen to be a little radioactive it happens. Oh, I’m glad you can joke about it Seriously mama all joking aside You saved my life My god, I didn’t call Abraham.

I was so crazed. I bet he’s worried out of his mind When I saw that snow cloud I thought maybe someone had And they did Someone found you. Here I am. Are you okay? I mean, how, what happened? How did, how did you? Paulina? That was you. You were the one driving that snowplow. I wasn’t going to let anything stop me from finding my precious daughter.

And she did. Oh, I was losing my mind. I’ve never been so panicked in my life. Ow! Ow! Ow! Oh, oh, it’s just, it’s her ankle. It’s probably just a sprain. But I did everything I could to, to be careful. But when Julie told me that Chanel Julie! My God! She’s still out there!

It has to be here! Dammit!

We need to talk.

Oh,

come on Jude, please. All I’m asking for is a five minute break. Okay, two minutes. I know it was too good to be true. Every time I think I’m in the clear, something goes wrong. Just like my life. But it was all worth it, right? Right, Jude?

Thanks again, Leo. I am happy to help. Oh, I should probably grab this. Yeah, I should get going too, so I’ll talk soon. You bet. Hello. So, how’d it go? He just left. And? And I’m going to do my best. I will give the guy nothing less than a top shelf ringing endorsement. I’ll work every angle I can.

Thank God! Oh God! Oh God, it’s so good to see you! How are you? Me? Oh, I’m fine. Now I know how all the penguins feel when they’re marching across Antarctica. Thanks for that phone call, Johnny. Yeah, well, it’s a miracle that our phones are still even working. Yes. Yes, it is. But how are you? How are you, sweetie?

Um, you know what? Um, I am grateful to be indoors, and other than that, I think I might have sprained my ankle. Oh. Oh. Oh, I’m sorry about the ankle, but this is such a relief. Who found you? She was stuck out by that big rock area. Yeah. I was headed there when I saw the snowplow. Now, Paulina Drove it across the bridge to rescue Chanel.

I told you I was going to find my girl. Well, well, we’re all very grateful, I’m sure. But you should have stayed in isolation. Yeah, I know, I know. I’m still radioactive. Paulina, you expose all of us. I just hope to God you haven’t done more harm than good.

Well, I guess I was hoping this was all going to be good news, but We know how these things work out. Yeah. Uh, just tell your guys to keep on looking there, and as soon as they find anything, just Dios Cristo.

Before you share your news, I want to share mine with you. I just spoke to Abe. Good. They found Janelle. Oh, thank God for that. Yeah. She is safe and sound. Uh, just a sprained ankle. Nothing else. All right. Well, what about Paulina? Paulina is keeping her distance until the first responders arrive. I’m guessing your news isn’t as good as mine.

Unfortunately, no. All right, tell me. My source has found Constantine’s divorce papers. He and his ex both signed them right before she disappeared. Without a trace. Hasn’t been a sign of her since.

I apologize for the mess. It is a result of my profound frustration. I understand. Um, I’m sorry about Katerina’s card. None of the staff have seen it, at least not so far. Well, that is just another disappointment. Which does not compare to my leaving Salem and you, which is what I am most sad about, of course.

And, uh, our precious little Victoria. She is one of the very few people who actually likes my singing. Well, uh, lucky for her she’ll still be able to hear it. Perhaps over a video call, yes, but that is not the same. I was thinking, uh, in person. In person? I do not understand. How could that happen? Well, it’ll happen if you say yes.

To what? To my proposal. Constantine Miliones. Will you marry me?

[ Upbeat music ]

Rj: Who the hell do you think you are sleeping with my girlfriend?

Zende: You deserve to be angry, but I did not, I did not take advantage of luna.

Luna: Rj’s gonna kill zende.

Poppy: Let’s try to take a deep breath.

Luna: No, rj won’t pick up. I– I keep trying, but he won’t, he won’t text me back or answer my calls.

Poppy: Honey, I am sure he’s really upset.

Luna: They’re cousins, mom. They’re family. I just– I don’t want him to do anything that he’ll regret.

Poppy: The night that you spent with zende, the misunderstanding, I understand you needed to tell rj. You had to tell him the truth.

Luna: Rj deserved to know.

Poppy: I just wish… well, maybe I can explain to him.

Luna: No, mom, I– I told him exactly what happened and… I’ve never seen him so hurt.

Hope: I just sent the one of you and beth at the gorilla exhibit.

Liam: Oh, good, with my eyes closed. That’s great. Look, see, it looks like I’m trying to take a nap, standing up. Why? And of course, beth is the cutest she’s ever looked in her entire life, so that’s perfect.

Hope: Well, I mean, she is very photogenic, so.

Liam: Yeah. You know, it’s funny, I was gonna say she gets that from her mother, except check out that disaster.

Hope: Oh, no. I mean, what– I– I think I was trying to impersonate a wombat here, maybe, just a little.

Liam: You were, because we would literally do anything to make our daughter laugh. There it is.

Hope: And beth was smiling the entire time.

Liam: So, success. There you go. We made a good one, didn’t we?

Hope: Yeah, the best. It was nice having the three of us together. Although, she does miss douglas. And her grandpa deacon.

Deacon: Are you alive or are you in trouble? And who the hell is sugar?

Finn: Deacon.

Deacon: Finn. Uh, were we supposed to meet?

Finn: No, I’m just– I’m picking up some takeout.

Deacon: Oh.

Finn: Well, has it hit you yet? Have you finally accepted sheila’s gone?

Poppy: Well, what did he say when you told him?

Luna: He was in shock. He felt so betrayed by me, zende, you. I mean, he accused zende of taking advantage of me, and i told him that that wasn’t the case, but…

Poppy: You’re worried he didn’t listen.

Luna: Yeah, I mean, he ran out of here so fast. I’m afraid he’s gonna go confront zende.

Zende: I know you’re pissed, rj.

Rj: You can’t even begin to know how I feel, zende.

Zende: I just need to know that luna’s okay.

Rj: Shut up. I don’t wanna hear you say her name.

Zende: Look, man, it’s my fault. It’s not hers. Don’t blame luna. Yes, it’s your fault, ’cause you’re family. And I trusted you.

Zende: I’m sorry, rj.

Rj: Stabbed in the back by my own cousin.

Liam: Well, you had to put some distance between the two of you, right?

Hope: Yeah, but it wasn’t easy. But as soon as I realized that my dad was involved with sheila, I mean, it just– it felt like the responsible thing to do.

Liam: No, it was. I mean, I’m– I’m glad that you kept beth away from deacon as long as sheila was around, but now she’s not. So, where does your relationship with deacon stand?

Finn: Obviously, you really cared about sheila.

Deacon: You know I did, finn, and so did you, even if you can’t admit it to yourself.

Finn: You’re having a hard time letting go of her. Why else would you think you saw ten toes at the crematorium? My dry eye’s made me a burning,

Poppy: Still no word from rj?

Luna: He doesn’t wanna talk to me.

Poppy: I feel horrible. I hate seeing my baby hurting so much. How could I be so irresponsible? But if I could only go back, none of this would’ve happened if it wasn’t for me, and those– those damn mints. The drugs are gone now, sweetie. I threw them all away. They caused too much damage. I’m never buying them again.

Luna: What’s done is done, mom. I mean, there’s no going back.

Poppy: I am so sorry. Your heart is breaking, and all I wanna do is fix it. I wanna make everything better. Now, I know that’s not possible, but I can talk to rj. I can try to make him understand.

Luna: Oh, my god, I can’t– I can’t take it. I– I– I need to head over to forrester.

Zende: What? Do you think I’m proud of what I did?

Rj: You got what you wanted. That’s all you’ve ever cared about, zende.

Zende: No, no. I thought that she was into it. I thought she was into me.

Rj: She was high.

Zende: I clearly didn’t know that at the time.

Rj: Yeah, right.

Zende: No, I swear. She didn’t either. It was a huge misunderstanding.

Rj: Shut up!

Zende: Please, man, let me explain.

Rj: No, I told you to shut up. I don’t want your– I don’t want your excuses.

Zende: Listen.

Rj: What?

Zende: For a second, okay? When I got back to the guesthouse, she was in my bed. I never expected her to be waiting for me.

Rj: She wasn’t!

Zende: I didn’t know that! I didn’t know that!

Rj: She thought it was me. She was out of her mind on her mother’s drugs! What the hell were you doing?

Zende: There was no, no indication that she was stoned or impaired at all. If there had been, then I would have never–

Rj: You would’ve never what? You would’ve never what, zende? You would have never slept with the woman I love? The woman I’m in a committed relationship with! You wouldn’t have done that!

Zende: I’m sorry, rj. I’m so sorry.

Liam: Listen, no offense to your dad, but I really question his judgment sometimes.

Hope: No, I– I do hear you. My father does have a tendency to make some troubling decisions.

Liam: Yeah, like falling for a psychopath.

Hope: To put it lightly. But I did hate shutting him out of my life.

Liam: I know, but your hands were tied. I mean, you were just trying to keep beth safe.

Hope: Boundaries had to be established, and I wasn’t about to put her at risk.

Liam: I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that.

Hope: Yeah. Well, I’m just glad we can put that ugly chapter behind us, and now my dad and I have a chance to start over.

Liam: Yeah, I mean, how possible is that, given everything that’s transpired?

Hope: I like to think that we have a good chance, especially now that sheila is out of the picture.

Finn: You haven’t been yourself lately.

Deacon: I lost the woman I love.

Finn: Well, there’s typical grief, but then there’s this.

Deacon: There’s this. And people like me, right? You know, we’re nuts, off the rocker. Yeah, I get it.

Finn: Look– look, sometimes, it’s normal to think that we’ve seen someone that we’ve lost. It’s a fleeting moment of hope, but it quickly fades once our brain realizes it’s impossible.

Deacon: You know what? My brain isn’t exactly getting the message, doc, because I am more and more convinced about what I saw at the crematorium.

Finn: Deacon, the way that you were talking, implying that sheila isn’t dead, it’s– it’s–

Deacon: Listen, okay, enough talk about the ten toes. All right, fine. All right, you can think I’m crazy for all I care. Let me ask you a question. Did sheila ever mention anyone else?

Finn: What do you mean?

Deacon: Like friends or, uh, I don’t know, family?

Finn: No.

Deacon: Enemies?

Finn: No, I– I mean, not anyone that you wouldn’t already know.

Deacon: Did she ever mention someone named sugar?

Poppy: Okay, just slow down.

Luna: I have no idea what could be happening between rj and zende right now.

Poppy: Hey, I get it. It is tough to sit back and wait. Your first instinct is to head over to forrester–

Luna: We didn’t even get to finish our conversation, mom. He just– he ran off and he probably won’t ever want to speak to me again.

Poppy: No. No. Rj loves you. He will realize that this was not a conscious decision, that you would never intentionally betray him or hurt him.

Luna: I can’t lose rj, mom. I– I have to get through to him.

Poppy: And you will. You will have another opportunity. But is heading over to forrester the best idea? Rj needs a little time.

Luna: I can’t just sit here and do nothing.

Poppy: Be patient. Rj will come back eventually. But if you walk in on them together, your being there could upset him even more.

Luna: I need to take that chance, mom. I have to tell him how much I love him.

Zende: I had no idea luna wasn’t herself that night. She was already in my bed. I thought she was making the first move.

Rj: She thought it was me, her boyfriend. You don’t have an excuse. Because you, you knew damn well what you were doing. ‘Cause you’ve never respected me or her or our relationship. You cannot stand here and justify to me sleeping with my girlfriend.

Hope: I don’t think I’ll ever really be able to understand what drew my father to sheila.

Liam: Not for nothing, he still seems pretty drawn to her, even after the fact.

Hope: Yeah. I think he’s just struggling to let her go, you know? I think he’s just lonely.

Liam: She must have, like, filled a void for him or something.

Hope: Well, let’s hope that’s all it was. I might have a little more sympathy for that, maybe. I mean, my mom did turn him down.

Liam: Yeah, a bunch of times. Sorry.

Hope: She always was the one that got away.

Liam: That’s what– that’s what’s so funny is like, ’cause you’ve got– you’ve got brooke logan, it’s like, up here, right? And then you’ve got sheila carter, who’s all the way, oh look, six feet under.

Hope: Okay, fine, yes. I just– all I wish is for my dad to move on. I mean, he could do so, so much better.

Liam: Yeah, like literally anyone without a 10-page rap sheet.

Hope: Yeah, that would be a nice change of pace. That would. And I– I get it. I– I– he thought they had something in common. But he couldn’t be more wrong. I mean, yes, my dad has messed up. But nowhere near the horrible things that sheila’s done.

Liam: You know, I told him the exact same thing. It’s not even close.

Hope: Thank you. But also, why are we wasting our time talking about this?

Liam: Good point.

Hope: Thanks. Yes, she’s dead. Sheila is buried. And hopefully, she will never be an issue in our lives ever again, so…

Finn: Sugar? That’s quite a name. I think I’d remember that. Why?

Deacon: All right, a while back, I was looking at sheila’s text messages. I wanted to see if there was anything unusual.

Finn: Deacon, geez. You, listen, sheila, she’s gone. You have got to start coming to terms with it.

Deacon: Just please hear me out, all right? Look, I get it. You think I got a screw loose.

Finn: No, I just think you’re wasting your time looking for signs of life. Steffy killed sheila. I mean, I saw her blood on the floor with my own eyes.

Deacon: I don’t need to hear all the gory details. Just listen to me. So a while back, sheila, she kept sneaking off, right? And when I called her on it, she said she was meeting someone from her past. And now, I find this text conversation from sugar.

Finn: Okay, what– what did they say?

Deacon: It didn’t sound friendly.

Finn: I don’t know anything about anyone named sugar. And frankly, deacon, it doesn’t matter. Sheila is dead.

Hey! Asthma’s

got you going through it?

Zende: Yes, I admit that. What I did was wrong.

Rj: If it was wrong, then why did you do it? What, was it because of me? Because you were jealous of me?

Zende: No, no, man. I didn’t do it to get back at you or anything like that. Like I said, I care about luna. If you two weren’t involved–

Rj: I know. I’ve seen you trying to flirt with her for months. I– I see you, zende.

Zende: It’s my bad.

Rj: Oh, your bad? It’s– it’s your bad now?

Zende: Luna never reciprocated. We’ve just been friends.

Rj: Exactly! You both have been keeping this secret behind my back.

Zende: She was afraid of hurting you, man. You know luna. She’s the sweetest, kindest, most honest person there is. She didn’t want to lose you. Dude. Hey.

Rj: What?

Zende: She thought she was with you. I know this must be messing with your head right now. But you’ve forgiven luna, haven’t you?

Luna: Rj, we need to talk. Okay, there’s– there’s so much more that I need to say. And I– I don’t want what I did to affect your relationship. Okay, I don’t want you two fighting.

Rj: It’s too– too late.

Luna: Oh, my god.

Poppy: Zende, are you okay?

Zende: I’m fine. I was just telling rj that everything that happened was my fault.

Poppy: No, and mine.

Rj: How could you drug your own daughter?

Poppy: It was an accident. My mints got mixed up with luna’S. I had no idea she took them.

Zende: None of us did. Rj, it was a huge, huge misunderstanding. And things got out of hand. But you can’t blame luna. Look at her. Can’t you see how much she loves you? Can’t you see how lucky you are? Tell her, rj. Tell luna you forgive her.

Liam: Yes, yes, exactly. Why are we even uttering her name?

Hope: It’s because sheila’s still haunting us from the grave.

Liam: Oh, my god, I hope not. And if she is, clearly we’re not the only ones. How about we make a deal? We just never speak of her again?

Deacon: Had chef throw in an extra order of meatballs.

Finn: Oh, well, thanks.

Deacon: Look, man, I’m really sorry about talking your ear off. I just– I thought maybe you could help me.

Finn: Okay, look, I have no idea who this mysterious sugar is. And frankly, it sounds like a dog’s name.

Deacon: Dogs don’t text.

Finn: Look, you’re gonna be doing your health a favor if you let this go. Stop obsessing over sheila and going through her text messages and her emails and playing private investigator. For what? Deacon, it’s pointless. You’re never gonna see sheila again, ever.

Deacon: Isn’t there just like a little part of you that wishes your birth mother was still alive?

Finn: It doesn’t matter how I feel. Just enjoy the memories. Miss her all you want. Think of her fondly, whatever. But get on with your life. I’m serious, deacon. It’s time. It’s over.

Deacon: What the hell? I saw your face. Your face and ten toes. Are you out there, sheila? Baby, are you still alive?

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Sarah checks on Paulina in her hospital room. Paulina says she’s groggy and can’t seem to focus. Paulina adds that she misses her family. Sarah says that’s normal. Paulina mentions the nurse giving her medication. Paulina asks how long before she can be released and get back to the real world. Sarah says it’s a minimum of two days but could be up to four and as soon as it’s safe to release her, they will. Sarah adds that she will have to take precautions for about a week before she can fully enter the public life. Paulina complains that means there’s no end in sight.

Johnny returns to the Horton Cabin with the firewood. Julie asks what happened. Johnny says the wood was wet so he had to go further to find some. Julie asks where Chanel is. Johnny thought she was here with her. Julie explains that she went out looking for Johnny. Johnny responds that he hasn’t seen her so Julie questions where Chanel is. Julie notes that it’s been about ten minutes so Johnny says she couldn’t have gone far. Johnny decides he will call her and let her know that he’s back but they find out that Chanel left her phone in the cabin.

Harris helps Ava pack her things at Tripp and Wendy’s apartment. Harris jokes about moving it in to his place as they kiss. Ava says she’s glad to be getting out of here as she doesn’t want Tripp and Wendy caught in the line of fire again now that Clyde is still in her hair. Ava can’t believe Clyde wants another favor with his black book. Harris wishes he was there when Clyde called her. Harris mentions trying to track Clyde’s location but he hasn’t left any trail. Ava calls Clyde a reptile waiting to strike. Harris argues that he’s had more stealth training than Clyde and that Clyde has definitely underestimated who he is dealing with in both of them. Harris declares that he’s going to bring Clyde to justice.

Nicole confronts EJ in the town square and questions his half-hearted apology where he didn’t even mention Tate and his family. EJ claims that he did right before they got there. Nicole questions him as she thought he was genuine about this. EJ argues that he did exactly what he said he would do, no more and no less. Nicole feels it was a lot less since the press barely arrived. Nicole guesses that EJ wants to bury this and questions if he’s even sorry that he locked up Tate. EJ argues that he has a very busy day and they were lucky to get an apology. EJ adds that he just met with the judge over the whole Stefan fiasco and the judge said they will take the plea under advisement, so he has no idea if they will accept or reject the deal. EJ repeats that it’s a very busy day so he has to go as he doesn’t want to deal with the press. EJ tries to walk away but Xander and Chad arrive. Xander announces they are the press and they are here while Chad tells EJ that he hopes he’s hungry because he’s about to eat crow.

Ava tells Harris that for him, justice is putting Clyde behind bars but for her, it’s a little different. Ava mentions that she swore to slit Clyde’s throat after he tried to kill the two most important men in her life. Harris assures that he won’t let Clyde hurt Tripp again or her. They kiss until Ava worries about what if she can’t find Clyde’s black book and says she doesn’t even know where to begin looking. Ava says she worked at the Bistro for months and knew every inch of the place but she never came across it. Harris says they have to have a plan as they can’t just bust in and tear the place up. Ava is glad she’s not doing this alone. Harris is glad she told him about Clyde’s call right away this time and thanks her for trusting him. Ava says there’s no one that she trusts more. Harris says now they can beat Clyde at his own game, so they are going to find Gil’s black book, give it to him, and then take his ass down.

Sarah tells Paulina that she knows isolation is a drag but she will be back with her family soon and this whole ordeal will be over. Sarah knows Abe, Chanel, and Johnny are missing her. Sarah mentions Johnny and Chanel being at the Horton Cabin for their honeymoon, but she doesn’t think they were expecting a snowstorm. Sarah hopes they didn’t lose power and that they have enough firewood. Sarah adds that they have plenty of blankets and clothes, so she’s sure they will be just fine but Paulina looks worried.

Johnny realizes they can’t call Chanel so Julie asks what they are going to do. Johnny decides he’s going to go find her. Julie worries about Johnny looking for her while she’s looking for him. Johnny says he will have his phone and tells Julie to call if Chanel comes back. Julie goes to prepare cocoa for when he finds her.

EJ tells Chad and Xander that they are too late as he just wrapped up this press conference, offered his apology to Brady and claims he was just talking to Nicole about how well it went. Chad says that’s bull and they all know it. Xander calls EJ unbelievable by starting the press conference early to avoid the press. Chad calls it not a good look for EJ. EJ tells them to get out of his way but Xander stops him and says EJ is a civil servant and the press have more than a few questions. Nicole steps away with her phone while Xander tells EJ to start by telling them what he missed and asks if he even apologized to Tate and his parents. EJ states that an apology was given, the family was there, and the matter was resolved. Xander argues there has to be more to it and asks what exactly was said. Chad walks over to Nicole and asks if she doesn’t want to stand by her husband while he’s getting grilled. Nicole claims that’s not her job and he has his own office. Chad questions why EJ would start the press conference early and if he didn’t want the press there. Nicole says she has no idea and she was only there for the end. Nicole adds that she’s not interested in talking about this. Chad asks how Holly is doing. Nicole says she’s okay and goes back to school today, so she hopes it all goes well. Chad says he hopes so for both of them and asks how Nicole has been holding up. Nicole thinks she’s at a crossroads after taking care of Holly for almost a year and now she doesn’t know what to do with herself as she thought she would be raising her son. Chad says he’s sorry. Nicole states that God has other plans for her but she doesn’t know what they are yet. Ava and Harris enter the town square as Xander asks EJ if the family were satisfied with his apology. EJ claims they were completely and now he must get going. Xander stops EJ and asks if there’s any progress in finding out who shot Harris and set him up. EJ talks about the police investigation and claims his office have offered their full support. Xander then notes Harris and Ava walking through, so he asks Harris if there are any leads in finding the actual shooter. Harris says a public statement should come from the police commissioner. Xander asks where they are in the search for Clyde Weston. EJ responds that they have initiated a nationwide manhunt for Clyde which Xander questions. Ava suggests to Harris that they go grab a coffee and walk away.

Paulina checks her laptop and sees that her office just sent her a transcript of EJ’s press conference. Paulina reads it and questions EJ being so smug and sleazy, arguing this is not the way to apologize to a wrongly accused teenage boy. Sarah warns Paulina about her heart rate rising and suggests she finish work a little later. Sarah encourages her to think happy thoughts for now.

Chanel’s phone rings with a call from Paulina so Julie asks if they should just let it go to voicemail. Johnny says then Paulina will start to worry and just keep calling, so he answers it. Paulina questions where Chanel is. Johnny claims she’s in the shower and he saw it was her calling so he didn’t want her to worry. Paulina responds that she is worried because she heard about the storm, so she asks if everything is okay there. Johnny claims everything is great and asks how isolation is. Paulina says it’s boring but she’s fine and will get through it. Paulina apologizes for interrupting their honeymoon and says she just wanted to check in. Johnny says it’s no problem and he will tell Chanel that she called. Paulina tells him to tell Chanel to call her after her shower. Johnny agrees to do so and hangs up. Johnny tells Julie that he will go find Chanel and then Paulina will never know and won’t have to worry. Julie warns Johnny to be careful as he exits the cabin. Julie then prays to St. Anthony to help Johnny find Chanel. Julie thinks back to talking with Chanel and telling her about the time capsule before she left to go help Johnny. Chanel’s phone then rings again with a call from Paulina. Julie answers so Paulina questions why she’s at the cabin. Julie explains that she came for an overnight getaway to get out of the house but she had no idea that Sarah had told Johnny and Chanel they could use it for their honeymoon. Paulina guesses that Julie had to stay because of the snow which she confirms. Julie says the roads are blocked and nobody can get out. Paulina asks where Chanel is since she told Johnny to have her call after her shower. Julie says they decided to take advantage of the weather, so they are out playing in the snow. Paulina hopes they dressed warmly. Julie assures that she bundled them up. Paulina tells Julie to have Chanel call her. Julie says she will and hangs up.

Ava and Harris walk through the town square with their coffee. Ava tells Harris that she’s sorry he had to be put on the spot with questions. Harris understands that Xander wants to know who set him up. Ava says she’s sorry for all the trouble she brought his way. Harris argues that Clyde did that, not her. Ava says she made things complicated and he still covered her. Harris says he used Stefan to help her and he would do it again. Harris calls Stefan a weasel but says he was under Clyde’s control like Ava was, but not for long. They look over where Chad and Xander are still trying to interview EJ. EJ tries to say he has to go but Chad asks how much time the district attorney’s office is recommending that Stefan serve in his plea deal. Chad says any nepotism or conflict of interest would be interesting for the readers. EJ asks if Chad interviewing him isn’t conflict of interest. EJ states that there was a hearing this morning but the outcome has yet to be decided. EJ says that Stefan’s attorney gave it her best go, but he is quietly confident that Stefan will serve justly for his role in the distribution of tainted narcotics throughout Salem. Stefan then interrupts and announces he actually already has which surprises Harris and Ava as they watch.

Julie calls Doug and tells him that Johnny is out looking for Chanel and as soon as they come back and the roads are plowed, she is going to get the hell off the island. Chanel’s phone rings with another call from Paulina. Julie questions her not giving it a rest. Julie tells Doug that Johnny said she has to pick it up or it would be much worse if it went to voicemail. Julie answers the call as Paulina questions what is going on out there and where Chanel and Johnny are. Julie says to let her check and puts her on hold. Julie tells Doug that she needs an excuse for why Chanel is not answering Paulina. Julie says she can’t tell her the truth but accidentally says in to Chanel’s phone that Paulina will panic if she finds out Chanel is missing which Paulina hears. Julie tells Doug that she will call him back and hangs up. Julie then goes back to her call with Paulina, who questions her daughter missing. Julie realizes she heard her. Paulina demands Julie tell her the truth and asks how long Chanel has been missing and where Johnny is. Julie informs her that Johnny went out to get some firewood and he was gone awhile, so Chanel went out to find him and then after ten minutes, Johnny came back with the firewood but not Chanel, so now Johnny has gone back out to find Chanel. Julie apologizes as she didn’t want to worry her as she’s sure they will walk through the door any second. Johnny then returns without Chanel. Julie asks him where Chanel is.

Stefan asks EJ if he’s surprised to see him and says he’s sorry to steal his limelight. EJ asks how this happened. Stefan reveals that the judge followed the law and agreed to time served, announcing he is now a free man. EJ angrily declares that they are done here and that’s all for questions. EJ storms off as Chad calls out to him that they aren’t done yet and Xander questions if EJ advocated for Stefan’s release. Chad realizes EJ won’t answer and suggests they go talk to Stefan. Xander says he has somewhere else to be and asks Chad to handle it. Chad agrees and thanks Xander for showing up. Xander admits his motivation was to grill EJ about who set him up but that EJ didn’t seem too eager to find out who is behind it or who shot Harris. Chad tells Xander that he’ll let him know if he finds anything. Xander warns Stefan that he’ll see him later as he walks by. Nicole calls this unbelievable as Chad questions how Stefan pulled off worming his way out of prison. Nicole calls Stefan a son of a bitch and demands he start talking now.

Xander joins Sarah at the Brady Pub. She asks how the press conference went. Xander calls it a joke as EJ called the conference before the press even arrived, so they missed most of it. Xander adds that there’s no news on his case and he doesn’t expect any change there. Xander calls the whole thing bizarre, revealing that Stefan showed up. Sarah is shocked and questions that with Stefan being in jail but Xander says not anymore.

Harris and Ava confront EJ in the town square about letting Stefan go. Harris asks how he could be so reckless. EJ argues that Harris is the one who covered up his own shooter to protect Ava. EJ remarks that someday, Harris will regret that. Ava asks EJ how his mother Susan is doing these days. Stefan asks Nicole what her problem is. Nicole responds that Stefan helped put the drugs on the street that almost killed Holly. Nicole gets that Holly is not a DiMera, but argues that they are family. Stefan says he feels terribly about that and he never intended on anyone getting hurt. Stefan says he only let the drugs be picked up and dropped off under the threat of bodily harm to his wife. Stefan says Nicole has to believe him when he tells her that he had no idea the drugs were laced with opioids. Stefan states that he only did it to protect his wife and he’s so sorry. Nicole tells him that he should be apologizing to Holly, but she doesn’t want him anywhere near her. Stefan says that might be difficult since they live in the same house. EJ interrupts and says he wouldn’t be so sure about that. Nicole storms off in tears while Chad goes after her to ask if she’s okay. Nicole doesn’t understand how Stefan could be free after what he did. Nicole knows Clyde was putting screws to him, but argues that he could’ve told the police or EJ. Chad says that Stefan thinks he can handle everything on his own. Chad tells Nicole that he’s sorry. Nicole asks why since he didn’t do anything. Chad says it’s his family and that should’ve never happened.

Julie tells Johnny that Paulina called again and knows Chanel is missing. Johnny instructs Julie to call 911 as he takes the phone to talk to Paulina, who asks if he found Chanel. Johnny says not yet, but Julie is calling for help. Johnny apologizes for not telling her sooner. Paulina asks how long she has been missing. Johnny guesses 30 or 40 minutes. Paulina worries about Chanel freezing to death in the snowstorm. Johnny tells her not to panic and vows to find her even if he has to search the whole island. Paulina says he better as she hangs up and worries about Chanel being out there, cold and alone. Paulina declares that she can’t just sit here and do nothing, so she makes a phone call and says they need to connect her to the Salem Public Works now.

Xander tells Sarah that it looks like he won’t be visiting Stefan at the jail today after all. Sarah brings up Stefan confessing to helping Clyde run drugs through the Bistro and questions how the hell he’s out of jail. Xander guesses he made a deal with the judge and maybe there’s blackmail involved, pointing out that he’s a DiMera so they can’t be surprised at him playing dirty. Sarah complains that this is so wrong and talks about the amount of overdoses that she’s seen come through the hospital and lives being destroyed. Xander calls it unbelievable as Stefan helped poison the whole town. Sarah suggests maybe EJ finagled a deal for him and wonders if he got him out. Xander says it doesn’t seem like they care much for each other but the DiMeras are shady. Xander argues that Stefan was up to his neck in the mess with Clyde, so he wonders if Stefan played a role in making it seem like he was guilty in shooting Harris. Sarah asks what if he did. Xander declares that if Stefan was involved in throwing him under the bus, there will be hell to pay.

Nicole tells Chad that he is not his family, so he bears no responsibility for what Stefan did. Nicole brings up that Chad wrote the article that put out what Stefan did. Chad credits Everett for writing that story but Nicole points out that Chad published it when he didn’t have to and put his family’s dirty laundry in the headlines which says so much about his integrity. Chad argues that he’s made his share of mistakes. Nicole says they all have. Nicole encourages that Chad did the right thing. Nicole remembers when she was a TV reporter having decisions hard to make. Chad questions her being a reporter. Nicole calls it a really long time ago and says she loved chasing after a story and figuring out how to tell it, saying every day was exciting. Stefan warns EJ about reneging on his deal this morning. EJ asks what deal since Stefan signed over everything to him. Stefan argues that he agreed to give back half. EJ asks how to give back half a house. EJ says to forget the house, but they go back to running DiMeras co-CEOs. EJ argues that the board and shareholders will not want that since Stefan is a convicted felon and they made it very clear they don’t want that. Stefan says fine to EJ being CEO but says he gets everything else. EJ refuses. Stefan looks back over at Chad talking to Nicole and asks if EJ told Chad or Kristen about their deal. EJ says he didn’t. Stefan says that’s good because he would hate to see anyone else try to get their paws on what is rightfully his. Stefan brings up EJ saying his blackmail was better than his but says he was wrong. Stefan then threatens that if EJ doesn’t give back what is his, then he will tell Nicole that EJ knew about the drugs being distributed through the Bistro and that he came to him for help but he refused. Stefan warns that if Nicole finds out that EJ could’ve prevented Holly’s overdose, she will never forgive him.

Julie tells Johnny that help is on the way and the first responders will be there as soon as they can get through. Johnny questions where Chanel could be as he’s looked everywhere. Julie suggests she could’ve slipped on the ice or got turned around in all the snow. Johnny admits the visibility is pretty bad so she could’ve just lost the trail. Johnny decides he has to get back out there and find his wife.

Paulina complains on the phone about being told it will be hours before they can clear the bridge. Paulina says she realizes the snow is still coming down but that is not acceptable. Paulina declares that she is the Mayor of Salem and tells them to have the head of their company call her immediately. Paulina thinks back to Chanel yelling at her to stop talking about leaving the planet during her cancer treatment and then promising to get through it. Paulina gets out of the hospital bed after getting dressed, grabs her things, and declares that mama’s coming as she exits the room.
