Rj: I– I– I still can’t get over what zende was saying earlier.

Ridge: I think he’s just concerned about his place in the company.

Rj: He’s concerned about his place in the company? He– no one’s trying to cut him out. He’s a vital part of forrester. He’s a forrester.

Ridge: He is a forrester.

Rj: Yes.

Ridge: But he’s not my son. In his perspective, that’s the thing that’s made all the difference. And I picked you because you’re my kid.

Rj: You think it’d make a difference if he knew the truth about granddad?

Thomas: What is happening here?

Hope: What are you talking about?

Thomas: You. You just get sexier and more beautiful every time I see you.

Hope: Hm. Well, I think you might be just a little bit biased.

Thomas: Ah, because I’m in love with you? You feel the same?

Hope: Oh, did I say that?

Thomas: Ah, yeah. A little bit. Little bit.

Hope: Oh. [ Chuckles ] Hey. Doing okay?

Thomas: Yeah. I– I don’t know. It’s just– the highs and lows.

[ Chuckles ] It’s like… you’re saying these wonderful things. I love you so much. It feels so amazing and then– and then I think about granddad and how we might lose him.

Hope: Well, it is awful to think about him being gone. I mean, I– I can’t even begin to imagine what that would look like.

Thomas: And we can’t talk about it with anyone. I mean, granddad doesn’t want anyone knowing, so I don’t know. Whoa. Hey. Is everything okay?

Zende: No. I’m upset, aren’t you?

Hope: Well, about what?

Zende: About hope for the future being put on ice so that rj can learn how to design with granddad.

Finn: You didn’t need to rush right over.

Li: Well, my son wants to see me, I’m there. What did you need? Patient consults?

Finn: No. Um, we need to talk about your sister and my cousin luna.

Bill: You look so familiar, but I– I just can’t figure out why. Have we met? Oh, you know what? I’m sorry. I– I should’ve introduced myself. I’m bill spencer. And you are?

Luna: Uh, hi. I’m luna nozawa and this is my mom, poppy.

Bill: Hi, luna. It’s nice to meet you.O.

Poppy: Hello, bil

Bill: You look so familiar, but I– I just can’t figure out why. Have we met? Oh, you know what? I’m sorry. I– I should’ve introduced myself. I’m bill spencer. And you are?

Luna: Uh, hi. I’m luna nozawa and this is my mom, poppy.

Bill: Hi, luna. It’s nice to meet you.

Luna: Nice to meet you.

Bill: And poppy. Hello.

Poppy: Hello, bill.

Li: Why would we need to talk about penelope and luna?

Finn: Because they’re here in L.A.

Li: Ah. That won’t be the case much longer.

Finn: Well, that’s not the impression I got from luna last night.

Li: Last night? You saw your cousin?

Finn: Steffy and I had her and rj over for dinner.

Li: Well, why would you allow that girl into your home?

Bill: Poppy, poppy… that doesn’t ring a bell, but I cannot shake this feeling that we’ve met before. Maybe a long time ago? New york?

Poppy: I haven’t spent any time there.

Bill: Oh. How about san francisco? I used to go back and forth on business there quite a bit.

Luna: Yeah, yeah. We’re from san francisco, so maybe you guys met there. Maybe you share a few friends.

Bill: Yeah. Maybe– maybe we had some friends in common. I went– went to same parties, bars. Of course, now you have your beautiful daughter.

Luna: Oh, that’s so nice. Thank you.

Poppy: It was nice to meet you, bill, but I don’t think we know each other.

Zende: We brought hope for the future back from the dead, the three of us, and it’s performed very well. We should be rewarded for that, not penalized.

Hope: Look, I’m not thrilled about the financial reallocations either, but I am trying to roll with it.

Thomas: Yeah, it happens. Right? One line gets put on hold while the other one launches.

Zende: I get that and I’m certainly not opposed to granddad getting back in the design game. But why would he choose to collaborate with rj?

Rj: I’m just saying that maybe we should tell zende about granddad. Then at least he would understand, you know, why certain choices were made?

Ridge: Well, I don’t think so. I think it’s time for me to honor my father’s wishes. I haven’t been doing that lately.

Rj: Um, what do you mean you haven’t been doing that lately?

Ridge: Well, I told steffy, I told thomas and that’s wrong. As far as zende is concerned, I think it’s gonna be fine.

Rj: I just– I don’t want any bad blood between us.

Ridge: It’s gonna be fine. We’re family.

Rj: Dad, we’re a family that’s about to lose its leader. (

Li: Gotta give credit where it’s due. Luna moves fast. Not only is she apparently dating rj forrester, she managed to get herself invited to your place for dinner. Ah, a chance to cozy up to the boss up close and personal.

Finn: Mom, steffy is an excellent judge of character. She’s a forrester. She’s hyper alert for any agendas. And she didn’t sense any of that on luna’s part and neither did I. I know you have issues with aunt poppy.

Li: Penelope.

Finn: Whatever. But they don’t carry over into my relationship with luna. I’m happy that she’s here working at forrester. And I expect that we’re gonna spend a lot more time together, so I made her a promise.

Li: What kind of promise?

Finn: That I would do whatever I possibly could to make sure you and her mother repair your relationship and get along like sisters should.

[ Li laughing ]

Li: Well, be prepared to break your promise because that’s not happening. Not in this lifetime.

Luna: I’ve– I’ve seen you in magazines, so I have to ask, are you– are you bill spencer from spencer publications?

Bill: One and the same.

Luna: You were married to brooke logan a few years back.

Bill: Uh… [ Chuckles ] Our relationship did get quite a bit of press, yeah.

Luna: Well, I’m an intern at forrester.

Bill: Oh, you’re kidding? Well, what a small world. You’re obviously into fashion.

Luna: Oh, yeah, ever since I was a little girl. I mean, I’ve made it my business to stay current on everything that’s going on both on the runway and behind the scenes.

Bill: And how are they treating you over there?

Luna: Oh, amazing. Everyone’s so kind.

Bill: Good. Good. Now, if that changes, you let me know and I’ll set them straight for you.

Luna: Okay.

Bill: You must be proud.

Poppy: Always. Luna’s the best part of my life.

Bill: I can see why. I just cannot shake this feeling that I know you. And I– I normally don’t forget names and faces.

Poppy: Well, maybe it’ll come back to you one day or maybe I’ll remember. But for now, I’m having lunch with my very busy daughter, whom I don’t get to see enough of.

Bill: Well, let it never be said that dollar bill can’t take a hint. Luna, it was nice to meet you. And nice to meet you again… poppy.

Zende: Rj was handpicked to design with eric because of ridge.

Thomas: I’m pretty sure dad had nothing to do with it.

Zende: Thomas, this naive look, it doesn’t look– it’s– it’s not good on you. It’s not even convincing. You, steffy and now rj have the edge around here. And what do you have in common? You’re ridge’s kids.

Thomas: Okay, zende, this is a family business. You got here somehow, right?

Zende: Oh, yeah. Thank you for noticing.

Thomas: Look, I’m sorry that you’re feeling passed over, but I know for a fact this was granddad’s decision.

Hope: It’s true, zende.

Zende: Guys, rj didn’t even want to be in the business. He told me as much when he came back, like, what, 20 minutes ago? Meanwhile, I’ve been here the entire time. I basically worked to resurrect hope for the future. And granddad starts a new line and I’m not even in the running to design with him? It really feels like rj has home court advantage because he is ridge and brooke’s son.

Ridge: I know it must have been difficult working with granddad knowing that his days with us are almost coming to an end.

Rj: No. I– I was grateful. I feel grateful for every single second that I’ve got to spend with him. It’s been– god, it’s been an honor to– to– to try to help him fulfill this vision. It was an honor that he even chose me to work with him.

Ridge: That’s my dad. He makes good choices. Picked the right man for the job. You know, maybe he was making up for some time that he didn’t have with you.

Rj: Then I’m glad I came back when I did. You know, he’s– he’s an incredible educator. This has been an– this has been quite the education, but, um… he opened up to me in ways that he never has before. And it meant a lot to me.

Ridge: Well, you will carry that with you for the rest of your life.

Rj: I will. And his legacy too. I’m gonna carry that with love and honor and pride.

Luna: Well, that was exciting. I can’t believe we just met bill spencer. You know, he’s a really big deal. Like, spencer publications owns magazines and television stations here. See? He hasn’t really changed much over the years. Are you sure you don’t remember seeing him?

Poppy: I don’t think so. I mean, I think I probably just look like someone he used to know.

[ Phone chiming ]

Luna: Oh, shoot. I’m sorry. I have to get back to work.

Poppy: Yeah, yeah. No problem. We can do lunch another time.

Luna: Are you sure?

Poppy: Yes. You go and be brilliant and important.

Luna: Mom, I’m just an intern.

Poppy: The best intern.

Luna: Oh, my god. I love you.

Poppy: I love you more.

Luna: Okay, bye.

Poppy: Bye.

Li: My sister isn’t who you think she is. She has you believing she’s some scattered little hippie chick, smiling her way through life. Luna doesn’t even know who her father is. So, you made a promise to luna you stand no chance of keeping. This reconciliation you want with my sister and me will not happen.

Hope: Got a minute?

Ridge: Sure. What’s up?

Thomas: Um, well, we were hoping we could convince you to breathe new life into hope for the future’s budget.

Hope: Yes, it would be money well spent.

Thomas: Yeah. Look and– and it’s money that you’ll get back with the new collection and so–

Ridge: I know. I know. And I don’t– I don’t doubt any of that, but you know that the money that was earmarked for hope for the future is going to dad’s collection.

Thomas: I understand that. It’s– look, we– the whole team is– is a little frustrated. And when we’re trying to– wheel spinning, right? And I was hoping maybe you might have some extra money lying around, but I totally understand granddad comes first. He is number one priority.

Hope: Well, especially now considering…

Ridge: I get your frustration, I do.

Thomas: Yeah. Our team is– is really frustrated. I don’t think I’ve seen zende so upset.

Hope: Well, I think his anger was directed a little more at rj.

[ Luna sighing ]

Rj: Hello?

Luna: Hi.

Rj: Hi. You already back from, uh, having lunch with your mom?

Luna: Yeah. It got interrupted. Uh, eric asked me to receive the french lace delivery, so I had to cut it short.

Rj: I’m sorry to hear that. I’m not sorry to see you though.

Finn: Look, I don’t pretend to understand all the dynamics you have with your sister, but luna is innocent. She is sweet and she is kind and she is trying to make something of herself. She’s willing to put in the time and the effort that it takes and I think that’s something to be admired.

Li: Having either one of them here is a bad idea.

Finn: Well, I guess I’m gonna have to find out for myself. ‘Cause now that luna’s in L.A., I wanna get to know her better.

Rj: I’m think about that a lot. The next time I’m gonna kiss you.

Luna: Well, it seems to be happening more and more often.

Rj: Mm. That’s true. Is that a problem?

Luna: No.

Zende: Ridge is looking for you.

Rj: Well, why didn’t he just peek his head in and ask me himself?

Zende: Maybe he wanted to save himself the walk?

Rj: Oh, okay. Well, um, we’ll pick up this conversation later.

Luna: Okay. Uh, do you– do you need something?

Zende: You have no idea.

Rj: Hey, you wanted to see me?

Ridge: Um, I– I always want to see you ’cause you’re my son and I love you, but not… I’m, um– okay. Uh, why are you here?

Rj: What do you mean, why am I– zende just told me that you wanted– he just peeked his head into the design office and said you wanted to see me.

Ridge: All right. All right. Uh, it– it doesn’t matter. I think– I’m glad you’re here. Maybe we should keep talking about zende and what’s going on.

Rj: You know what? Yeah, we should. You know, he’s– he’s changed dramatically all of a sudden. He used to be a very chill, easygoing guy. What’s going on with him?

Ridge: Well… he was on a path. He thought he was gonna be a certain someone and then you showed up and threw a wrench in it.

Rj: You know I didn’t do that deliberately. You know that, right? I– I– granddad asked me to do something, he needed me and I did it. And the reason why he asked me was because he had a very big secret and you know what that secret was.

Ridge: Yes. We all know what that secret is, but zende doesn’t know. He doesn’t know that granddad’s dying. You know what he sees? Some young guy with no experience coming in and taking a job that should have been his. So he feels he’s getting lost in the shuffle.

Rj: But that’s not true. He’s– come on. Zende’s a very talented designer. Everybody knows that he’s a talented designer.

Ridge: Everybody knows that. That’s what makes it hard for zende.

Zende: So, I couldn’t help but nohat secret was.

Zende: So, I couldn’t help but notice, you and rj?

Luna: What about us?

Zende: Well, you’ve been spending a lot of time together. It’s pretty obvious you’ve been getting close.

Luna: Yeah, well, rj is a good guy. We just– we enjoy each other’s company.

Zende: Yeah, okay. Way to play it down. For the record, interoffice relationships are not really frowned on here. Basically, everyone has had one. My one piece of advice: Make sure the door’s locked. You are a terrific intern, luna. You came in here, you rolled up your sleeves. You basically handled everything thrown your way.

Luna: Well, yeah, my job is to do whatever anyone needs, so.

Zende: Is that so? I’m not sure if you’re aware of my– my background, my experience, but I went to the finest schools, went to forrester international in paris. My designs have been featured on runways around the world. I live and breathe fashion. And I suspect it’s the same for you.

Luna: Yeah. Yeah. How did you know?

Zende: I can tell.

Luna: I mean, I can only hope to be as good as you one day.

Zende: You know, it’s really nice to be appreciated. That means more to me than you know. Just, uh, keep in mind, rj isn’t the only forrester coming up around here.

Rj: My take on zende is very different than yours, dad. I don’t want to seem paranoid or anything, but, um, I think he’s out to get me.

Ridge: That does sound a little paranoid. There’s nothing that zende can take from you.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Ava calls Harris and apologizes for missing dinner last night as she knows she told him that she had the night off, but Gil called her in at the last minute to go over the books. Harris knows it’s hard to make plans when running a restaurant. Ava says she has a little free time today, so she thought maybe they could sneak away to grab a drink before dinner. Harris thinks he can make that work and says he’ll pick her up at her apartment at 5 which Ava says is perfect. Harris says he’ll see her later and they hang up. Gil then shows up at Ava’s door.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Xander reminds Sarah that they are due in court soon. Sarah admits she totally forgot and asks how she can leave her daughter now or think about any of that stuff. Sarah declares that they have to postpone again as there is no other way. Xander asks what if he just drops the case? Sarah asks what he means and if he’s being serious. Xander points out that her daughter was taken from her today and it was unbearable, so the last thing he wants is to take her away from her again.

Maggie tells Konstantin that the way he has watched over them, he’s been like an angel sent from Heaven. Konstantin then grabs Maggie and kisses her. Maggie pushes him off and questions what on earth he is doing.

Theresa calls Konstantin and it goes straight to voicemail. She leaves a message, saying she’s calling to make sure that he took Victoria safely back to Sarah and that if the whole thing blows up, he damn well better keep her name out of it as no one can ever find out what she did, right as Brady appears in the doorway and questions what she did now.

Sarah asks if Xander is really willing to drop the custody case. Xander knows he said he was willing to go to war and he meant it at the time, but their daughter was kidnapped and he thought he might never see her again which put things in to perspective for him. Xander doesn’t want to go through that again or put Sarah through that. Sarah admits that’s the last thing she thought he would say, especially since she accused him of taking Victoria and that she was taken on her watch. Sarah thought he would use that against her. Xander says he wouldn’t do that and he hopes that she knows what happened wasn’t her fault. Xander declares that whoever took their daughter is to blame.

Konstantin apologizes to Maggie and says he shouldn’t have done that as he asks if they can forget this ever happened.

Theresa questions Brady listening in on people’s private conversations. Brady points out that the office is a pretty public place to have a private conversation. Theresa remarks that a gentleman would have the decency to make his presence known. Brady argues that she hasn’t changed. Brady says he was trying to convince Alex not to hire her because he was sure she would do something to undermine the company but then he thought maybe he was overreacting, and then he overhears her saying something is going to blow up in her face. Brady asks Theresa what’s going on and what she did. Theresa then tells Brady that she slept with Alex.

Gil tells Ava that he has a rather delicate matter to discuss that he thought was best not to discuss at the restaurant. Ava asks what he wants. Gil says he wants a key to the Salem PD evidence room. Ava questions why. Gil responds that apparently, one of their lower level dealers got arrested last night and he knows not to flip, but if the cops poke around, it could broaden the investigation so the evidence needs to disappear. Ava questions why he’s coming to her with this and how she’s supposed to get it. Gil tells her from her detective boyfriend.

Rafe meets Harris at the Brady Pub. Harris assumes he’s been busy with the kidnapping and asks if there’s any leads on who took Sarah Horton’s baby. Rafe says there’s nothing yet and he was actually going to put Harris and Jada on it but Jada is at Leo’s arraignment this morning. Harris wishes Jada told him that she was going after them alone because he hates that Leo and Dimitri got the drop on her. Rafe feels the same but notes that Jada is tough and he tried to get her to take off work. Harris asks if there’s anything he can do in the meantime. Rafe says the reason he asked him to lunch is because he wants Harris to find out who murdered Li Shin. Rafe explains that EJ had Gabi charged for murder, but he doesn’t believe for a second that she stabbed Li. Harris responds that Rafe knows Gabi better than he does, so he believes him, but notes that it will be tricky since Gabi’s prints are on the murder weapon and Li named her as his killer right before he died. Rafe says he knows all that but Harris was there at the scene and saw how much blood was there. Rafe notes that Li was barely conscious so asks if he even knew what he was saying. Rafe adds that the person who stabbed Li could have been wearing gloves which leaves lots of room and he feels there’s no reason they can’t continue the investigation on the DL. Paulina then comes over and says that there is.

Ava questions if Gil is crazy for wanting her to steal Harris’ key to the evidence room and asks if he won’t notice it’s missing. Gil says that’s not his problem and suggests Ava just convince Harris that he lost it. Gil questions Ava looking so damn skeptical. Ava responds that she’s done everything he’s asked so far but he can’t involve Harris and doesn’t think this is a good idea, pointing out that Harris is a detective so he could figure out she took it which leads to all sorts of questions. Ava adds that if Harris figures out what is going on here, it could ruin the whole operation. Gil admits she makes a good point but warns that he’s still going to have to go back to Clyde and tell him that she refused to do what he asked.

Xander tells Sarah that he will call Sloan and tell her that he’s dropping the suit with no need for Eric to testify. Sarah questions if he’s really serious about this. Xander assures that he is and admits he never believed that she was an unfit mother and he was just angry that she lied to him about the baby, but he understands why she did it. Xander acknowledges that he’s done terrible things and made bad decisions, but he knows now he can’t fix a bad decision with another, especially when he never really wanted to sue her for custody. Sarah asks what he really wants then. Xander says he wants the two of them to raise Victoria together. Sarah says she wants that too.

Konstantin apologizes to Maggie again and says he doesn’t know what came over him. Maggie calls it just an error of judgment and says it’s already forgotten. Konstantin calls her very kind but says he’s not sure he deserves it since he’s taking advantage of her grief. Maggie calls him a good man but Konstantin says he’s disgusting and that he disgraced Victor. Konstantin declares there’s only one way he can make this right and that is by leaving to go back to Greece.

Brady questions Theresa sleeping with Alex. Theresa reveals it happened in Greece, reminding him of the night that she wanted to stay in Brady’s room but he went off on her. Theresa informs him that after Brady left, Alex tried to make her feel better and he did as they slept together. Brady can’t say he’s surprised. Theresa says she didn’t want anyone to know about it and that she and Alex agreed to keep it between them since they are working together now, so she doesn’t want it out there that she slept with the boss. Brady says he can totally understand that. Brady questions who Theresa was talking to on the phone if she wanted to keep it a secret. Theresa claims that she was talking to her cousin, Stephanie, because she had to tell someone and she knew that she would keep it between them. Brady asks if they just slept together the one time since they are living together now. Theresa assures they have separate bedrooms and it only happened that one time. Theresa asks why he’s so interested and if he’s jealous.

Maggie tells Konstantin that there’s no reason for him to leave and that she doesn’t want him to because she likes having him there. Konstantin calls that very kind of her but says he’s had the feeling that he’s worn out his welcome. Konstantin thinks back to overhearing Sarah complaining to Maggie about him. Konstantin tells Maggie that he needs to pack and exits the room.

Xander questions Sarah wanting them to raise Victoria together which she confirms. Sarah admits that deep down, she knew he’d be the most wonderful father but she was just so upset with him for what he had done. Sarah says the more people told her to let go of the anger, the more she dug her heels in because she’s stubborn which they joke about. Xander talks about meeting his match with her. Xander tells her that he’s truly sorry that he let it go this far. Sarah responds that she is too as she takes his hand and they get close.

Paulina tells Rafe to drop this immediately because they have made an arrest and her new district attorney is prosecuting her, so if it gets out that Rafe is still running an investigation behind his back then it will look bad for his department and her office. Rafe apologizes to Paulina but says she of all people should understand since a member of his family has been falsely accused of murder and he needs to fix it. Paulina warns him to check himself and questions if he’s bringing up her personal history in this. Paulina calls that highly inappropriate and reminds Rafe that he works for her. Rafe apologizes. Paulina states that she likes him and feels for him but warns that if he doesn’t drop this, she will be forced to hire a new police commissioner who will listen to orders. Paulina points out that she already hired Harris at his recommendation and doesn’t want to have to fire both of them for going behind her back, especially when there’s a new case that needs their attention. Rafe asks what it is. Paulina informs them that there’s been an increase in drug trafficking and rumors of a new cartel setting up shop somewhere in town, so she needs both of them to find out who is behind it.

Gil warns Ava that Clyde won’t be happy to hear that he didn’t get that key. Ava thought they agreed they didn’t want to give Harris any reason to start asking question. Gil says they don’t but he doesn’t know if Clyde will see it that way and he will have no choice but to tell him that Ava refused to get the key, so there’s no telling how Clyde will react as he could be mellow or he could ask him to pull the trigger on her son. Gil then suggests he might be persuaded not to mention her disobedience to Clyde if she does a little something for him in return.

Brady assures Theresa that he’s not jealous and his only reaction is that it won’t last between her and Alex. Brady asks why he would be jealous. Alex then enters the office and asks if everything is alright in here.

Konstantin goes to his room and listens to his voicemail from Theresa. Konstantin declares that no one is going to hear it from him and calls himself an idiot for getting in Maggie’s good graces by returning the baby but then ruining it by kissing Maggie. Konstantin questions why he would take such a risk but admits it’s still possible this gamble will pay off.

Xander and Sarah almost kiss but Maggie returns to the room and interrupts. Maggie asks how Victoria is doing. Sarah says she’s great and never better, because she and Xander have decided to drop the custody case which surprises Maggie. Sarah explains that after everything that happened, they decided to work things out amicably. Maggie calls that wonderful news and just what she wanted for them both. Maggie is sorry it took a kidnapping to make it happen. Xander jokes that they would’ve preferred to skip that part too. Sarah admits it woke them up since all that matters is that Victoria is safe and home where she belongs, thanks to Konstantin. Konstantin then comes in. Sarah tells him tha they were just talking about how grateful they are to him. Konstantin declares that he came to say goodbye because he is leaving Salem.

Rafe tells Paulina that he’ll be happy to lead an investigation on the recent arrests since the last thing Salem needs is more drugs on the streets. Paulina agrees and says she’ll be in touch later in the week. Paulina warns that this better be the last she hears about the case against Gabi because she’s given her final word on that subject. Paulina then exits the Pub. Harris tells Rafe that he’s sorry about that. Rafe says that Paulina is right that what he asked Harris to do is completely against protocol. Harris says that may be but he feels for Rafe, so if he wants him to pursue other suspects in Li’s death, he will.

Gil acknowledges that Ava is a very attractive woman and says he can tell that she likes attention. Ava argues that she’s not there for his attention. Gil brings up Harris but Ava tells him not to talk about him. Gil grabs Ava and tells her that this is not optional. Ava tries to push him off and escape but he grabs hold of her and says this doesn’t have to be unpleasant and that they are so alike. Gil says they could be really good if she just gives them a chance. Ava says she hasn’t thought about it like that and maybe he’s right that they have more in common than they thought. Ava tells him that maybe they can be more than business associates. Gil suggests combining business and pleasure. Gil starts kissing her but she pushes him off and pulls a gun out, asking who is playing now. Gil asks what the hell she thinks she’s doing. Ava calls it pretty obvious that she’s making sure he doesn’t rape her. Gil argues that he’s not a rapist. Ava tells him that when he says it’s not optional and she’s trying to run away, he’s a rapist. Gil asks if she’s going to shoot him now. Ava says that depends on whether or not he makes a move. Ava warns him to go ahead and test her to see how much she wants to blow him away. Gil doesn’t believe she would do that. Ava asks if he’s sure about that. Gil points out that if she shoots him, Tripp is dead.

Rafe thanks Harris for the offer but says he can’t ask him to jeopardize his job or the entire department. Harris asks what he’s going to do then. Rafe says he does have a lot of faith in Belle, so he’s just going to have to believe in her. Rafe notes that Belle has gone against EJ before so he’ll just have to have faith that she can beat him at his own game. Harris tells Rafe that if he changes his mind, he can just say the word. Rafe appreciates that but admits that Paulina is right that it wouldn’t look good if he went behind EJ’s back and that they do need to get drugs off the street. Rafe mentions arresting a dealer last night and feels there are more out there. Rafe tells Harris to start investigating that which he agrees to do. Harris adds that he knows Rafe took a chance on hiring him, so he will do whatever it takes to earn his position. Harris then exits the Pub.

Brady tells Alex that everything is fine. Alex says they need to talk strategy about bringing Basic Black under Titan because it’s huge for them and he wants to time it perfectly. Brady says he’s due in court for Sarah because he’s been asked to testify against Xander since he led him to believe his baby was dead, so he doesn’t think Xander is fit to be a parent. Alex then points out that Sarah did the same thing to Xander and if Chloe didn’t overhear, Xander would’ve never found out the truth and would’ve lost out on something that’s rightfully his. Theresa sarcastically remarks that it would’ve been terrible.

Sarah questions why Konstantin is leaving. Konstantin says he believes the time has come for him to go. Maggie says she tried to convince him to stay. Konstantin says she’s been far too generous already so he must get going. Sarah stops him and brings up that Maggie was planning on asking him to stay through Christmas and she admits that she told Maggie that she didn’t think it was a good idea because she was worried that Maggie was getting too dependent on him. Maggie calls that silly since she’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Sarah points out that the truth is that they all depended on Konstantin today and he came through which Xander agrees with. Sarah says that Konstantin risked himself for their family, so she thinks asking him to stay through Christmas is the least they can do. Maggie agrees unless Konstantin has to get back to Greece and his family. Konstantin admits there’s no reason for him to hurry back, so he would be grateful to stay with them. Maggie calls that wonderful and says they are happy to have him. Konstantin says he’s very happy to know that he will be spending the holidays with all of them, adding that with Victor gone, they are practically the only family he has. Konstantin then goes to unpack his bags.

Brady gets a call and informs Alex and Theresa that he will have time to strategize after all since Justin informed him that Xander apparently dropped the custody case. Theresa questions why he would do that. Brady reveals that apparently their baby was kidnapped today, but she was found safe and sound. Alex calls that insane, asking what kind of maniac steals a newborn baby. Brady notes that whoever it was got away. Alex hopes they find him and nail his ass to the wall.

Konstantin returns to his room and says that worked out perfectly. Maggie comes in and tells him to make himself at home. Konstantin tells her that he’s very happy to stay through Christmas, but he’s not so sure that this is what Maggie wants and asks if Sarah put her on the spot. Maggie says not at all and that she’s delighted he is staying.

Sarah tells Xander that she just got off the phone with Justin, who was surprised. Sarah is glad they convinced Konstantin to stay. Xander acknowledges the bad blood between them but says they definitely owe him after today. Victoria wakes up so Sarah says it sounds like someone needs some attention and then asks Xander if he’d like to do the honors. Sarah knows he held her when she was born but asks if he wants to get better acquainted. Xander says he does and picks up Victoria. Xander declares that he’s so looking forward to getting to know her, but he already loves her with all his heart.

Ava warns Gil to stop there or she will end him. Gil doesn’t think she will. Harris then knocks on the door and says he knows he’s a little early. Harris then hears a gun shot and bursts in to see that Ava has shot Gil in the chest.

Christine: My marriage is none of your business.

Phyllis: Um… it’s just been a while since you’ve been single, you know, and I thought maybe you could use some dating tips or something.

Christine: Oh, right. Yeah. Wait, are you serious? From you? Your latest romantic partner was a known felon who ended up dead. No, I don’t think I’m gonna be coming to you for advice.

***************Christine: We’re not friends, so we are definitely not gonna talk about my personal life.

Phyllis: Well, I feel like I am being a friend to you and to Danny’s when I tell you, you just shouldn’t chase after him again.

Christine: Chase after him? Okay, first of all, that’s your thing, not mine. And second, unlike you and me, Danny and I are actual friends. And Daniel is my godson and we’ve always been close. I’ve heard that you’ve been hanging out with Danny. And maybe you should take your own advice and not fool yourself into thinking that something will come of that. Right now, your number one priority should be getting your miserable life back on track.

Mariah: Thank you. I needed to hear that. Well, what about you? How is the job search going?

Kyle: Oh. Uh, refresh my memory. Um, what exactly is a job?

Mariah: Oh, please tell me you’re at least looking.

Kyle: Why? I’m rather enjoying the easy life.

Mariah: Yeah, because you always struck me as a man of leisure.

Kyle: Well, I’m learning how to make sourdough from mrs. Martinez.

Mariah: Of course, you are.

[ Kyle laughing ]

Kyle: No, no. Um, but I am having fun.

Billy: Look at you. You’re here.

Chelsea: I’m back, baby.

Billy: Thank god.

Chelsea: That was the welcome home I was waiting for.

Billy: It’s damn good to see you.

Chelsea: Did you miss me?

Billy: Every day. And why didn’t you tell me you were coming home?

Chelsea: I wanted to surprise you. Be a little mysterious. Did it work?

Billy: Am I smiling?

Chelsea: Your face. It’s not the same as video chats.

Billy: No, it’s not the same like this.

Chelsea: Well, full disclosure, I’m also here for a little bit of work. I have a Marchetti meeting to discuss the spring collection.

[ Jill chuckling ]

Chance: Hey.

Jill: Oh. Oh… let me look at you. You are infuriating. Do you know that? You really are. Are you sure it’s okay?

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. I promise you, for the fifth time. I’m fine. I’m recovering but I’m being a textbook patient too. Don’t worry.

Jill: Do you know how irritating it is to come into town and find out that your grandson has been in the hospital?

Chance: Well, I took that bullet just to annoy you. You know that, right?

Jill: Hey, hey, hey, don’t joke about nearly dying.

Chance: Come on, I didn’t almost die.

Jill: Stop arguing.

Chance: Okay. All right. Sorry. I promise you, I thought being chief would get me out of the line of fire more often, but clearly, I was wrong.

Jill: Oh, I’m just so happy that your injury wasn’t worse and that that bastard’s been caught.

Chance: Well, justice will be served.

Nina: Thank goodness for that. And it seems to have been maybe a much-needed wake-up call.

Jill: What does that mean?

Chance: Mom, mom, please. Not– not anymore. Come on.

Nina: Chance may change course and quit law enforcement.

Jill: Is this true?

Chance: Okay. Why don’t we all sit down, let’s take a breath. Sit down, sit. I’ve not made any kind of decisions yet. At all. I’m just simply… considering the possibility.

Jill: Wow. That would be a huge shift for you.

Nina: Yes. But then jill and I would never have to fear again getting one of those telephone calls saying that something’s happened to you.

Jill: Listen, if you do decide to quit the G.C.P.D, I have an idea.

Chance: All right. Let’s– let’s hear it.

Jill: Well, in my opinion, it is high time that you followed in the footsteps of your grandfather and catherine.

Chance: Meaning what?

Jill: Meaning come to work with me at chancellor-winters. Honey, I will teach you the ropes of the business world.

Nina: Jill, that’s a brilliant idea and a great opportunity.

Chance: That is a very generous offer. Thank you. But that is a big step and I have no experience, so.

Jill: Well, you don’t need experience. You have exposure. You have lived your whole life hearing about the business. And you’re smart and you’re dedicated.

Nina: You’re hard-working. You’re great with people. You have excellent instincts.

Jill: And I can always use allies within the company. Honey, I know talent when I see it. I think you’d be really good at this.

[ Chance sighing ]

[ Kyle sighing ]

Diane: Morning.

Kyle: Morning, mom.

[ Kyle sighing ]

Diane: Morning.

Kyle: Morning, mom. Where’s dad?

Diane: Uh, he’s still upstairs. I wanted to talk to you before he came down.

Kyle: What did you want to discuss?

Diane: Uh, have you given any more thought to what we talked about last night?

Kyle: Audra and I didn’t exactly end on good terms. Okay? And it would be a tough sell to convince her that I want back in on tucker’s plan to take over jabot.

Diane: Well, don’t you think it’s worth a try?

Kyle: I don’t know if she would believe me. And tucker was already pretty suspicious about my intentions in the first place.

Diane: All right. Are you honestly worried about that or is there something more going on?

Kyle: Mom, I’m torn. Keeping this from dad feels wrong. I almost betrayed him and the company. Doesn’t he have a right to know?

Diane: Would you please stop beating yourself up?

Kyle: How can I? I mean, I almost sold him out to tucker for my benefit. If I don’t come clean, what does that say about me?

Diane: It says nothing. You reversed course. Thoughts are not actions. If they were, we’d all be in trouble. Kyle, listen to me. You should tell your father when it’s the right time for you.

Jack: Tell me what?

Kyle: Uh, dad, I um, I’ve just been, you know, wrestling with how to tell you something.

Jack: You can tell me anything. You know that.

Kyle: Yeah. I just want you to know how sorry I am that I’ve been a jerk about your offer to come back to jabot.

Jack: No apology necessary. It’s water under the bridge.

Kyle: Dad, don’t cut me so much slack.

Jack: No. You’ve already taken steps to straighten things out with billy, with me.

Kyle: It’s not enough. I– I want you to know that I am now considering your offer to be C.O.O. Of jabot.

Tucker: Hey.

Devon: Hey.

Tucker: How are you?

Devon: Not great.

Tucker: What’s going on?

Devon: Well… I learned something new about you this morning and it’s just like you can’t help yourself, huh?

Tucker: I don’t know what you mean.

Devon: I’m talking about your latest lie. And I’m sure it’s tough to keep up with all of them. But this is one too many and I have had enough.

Devon: So my only question to you is, are you that arrogant to think that you were gonna get away with everything?

Tucker: What have you been told now? What is it you think you know?

Devon: It’s not what I think I know. It’s what’s been confirmed. We’re talking about your collusion with aunt mamie.

Tucker: Oh, devon. We’ve discussed this, haven’t we? I told you there’s no truth to any of those allegations.

Devon: I know what you said, I was there. And it was a lie. And you told it to me over and over again. It started with you saying that you had no connection to mamie whatsoever. And then after I pressured you, you admitted that you had been in communication with her. But it was to try and make things better with me.

Tucker: It was.

Devon: It wasn’t at all because you’re also using her firm to make investments into chancellor-winters behind my back. Right?

Tucker: Listen, I have no say in how mamie johnson chooses to spend her company’s money.

Devon: Okay. But you did conveniently choose not to mention that she’s using your money.

Tucker: Not all of it. Most of it’s mamie’S.

Devon: It doesn’t matter though. You understand that, right? Because you told me one thing and then I find out the complete opposite. So, what are you after?

Tucker: Nothing.

Devon: If it’s nothing, then why all the deception?

Tucker: The only thing I’ve ever wanted was just to be closer to you.

Devon: You gonna stick with that? Okay. Well, I mean, that’s pretty much out the window because I don’t believe a word that comes out of your mouth.

Tucker: Okay. Hold… first of all, where did you get this information? Was it phyllis? Because you know she hates me and she’s not above spreading lies to try to ruin me.

Devon: Tucker, the only lies are coming out of your mouth. They’re not coming from phyllis or anybody else.

Tucker: I have tried my best to be honest with you.

Devon: That’s your best? ‘Cause I would sure hate to see your worst. And I’m gonna make something really clear to you right now. Keep your hands off of chancellor-winters because that’s neil’s legacy and it’s your mother’s legacy. You’re not any part of it. And I’m gonna make sure it stays that way.

Tucker: Yeah. I– I think you’re blowing this a little out of proportion.

Devon: No, I think I’m being actually really nice about this. So please keep your distance from me and my family. I’m done with you.

Ashley hey, are you okay?

Devon: Yeah, good to see you.

Ashley: What the hell have you done now?

Jack: Wait, you’re serious? You’re considering the C.O.O. Role?

Kyle: It, uh, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to come to my senses. But, um…

Ashley: What the hell have you done now?

Jack: Wait, you’re serious? You’re considering the C.O.O. Role?

Kyle: It, uh, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to come to my senses. But, um… yeah, yeah. Yeah, I am.

Diane: I can’t tell you how happy I am to hear that.

Jack: That is fantastic news.

Kyle: It feels good for me too.

Jack: Well, as thrilled as I am, I gotta say it comes out of the blue. Um, was there any one thing that prompted this change of course?

Kyle: I know I had numerous reasons of why I wasn’t interested before.

>Jack: Oh, you definitely were not interested. You thought I was giving you a token role.

Kyle: I guess I just needed some time to self-reflect. Starting after my confrontation with billy where he accused me of being a spoiled brat and trying to take his job.

Diane: I didn’t realize he said that to you.

Kyle: No, it was harsh, mom, but he was right. I needed him to call me out. It made me realize I need to back off and it set me on an entirely different path altogether.

Jack: Yeah, you implied you had something in the works.

Kyle: I did and– and then it didn’t work out.

Jack: And that’s when you realized you were interested in the C.O.O. Role?

Kyle: It gave me pause. But the final turning point was mom. She gave me some good advice on how to move forward.

Jack: Well, I am not surprised. She is a wise woman. What did she tell you?

Kyle: That I haven’t been putting us on the same level. I’ve been making demands and exerting pressure on you. And she made me realize that I need to prove myself to you as much as you need to prove your faith in me.

Jack: Seems like pretty sound advice.

Kyle: You know, getting what you want. It– it comes in stages, it can’t be rushed. So I have to be patient.

Abby: Hey.

Devon: Hey. Thank you for taking some time away from work.

Abby: Of course, you sounded riled up. What’s going on?

[ Devon sighs ]

Devon: It’s tucker.

Abby: Oh. What now?

Devon: So lily told me this morning that she and jill found proof that he is directly involved in mamie’s investment in chancellor-winters.

Abby: That bastard. So you have solid proof?

Devon: Seems that way. Yeah. Proving what we already suspected.

Abby: What’s he doing?

Devon: He’s using her financial firm to make investments. And one of which was to chancellor-winters. Which means he just flat-out lied to me about any collusion with mamie.

Abby: I am so sorry. I know that we suspected that there was something going on, but to know for sure? I mean, that’s horrible.

Devon: Yeah. And then when I went to confront him about it, he just doubled down and kept lying to me. So he’s done. I’m cutting him off.

Abby: I’m sorry, I hate that for you. You know what? Actually, I don’T.Beuse you de and tucker is just never gonna be that for you.

Devon: Yeah, I know. I’ve given him too many chances and he’s let me down every single time.

Abby: But if it makes you feel any better. I think he wants to be that for you. He’s just not capable of it.

Devon: Well, it doesn’T.

Abby: So, is tucker gonna back down now?

Devon: I don’t think he will. At all. I told him to keep his hands off of chancellor-winters. But I think he’s gonna do whatever he wants to do because he didn’t care about the fallout.

Abby: Even if the fallout is his relationship with his son.

Devon: Right. So, the only thing I can do is figure out how to protect my family and my company from whatever he has planned.

Abby: You know what? Let me talk to my mom. Maybe she knows something. There’s gotta be a way for us to find out what’s going on.

Devon: Yeah.

Devon: I think you just gave me an idea. I need to get a hold of the family because tucker does need to be stopped. And I think I know how to accomplish that.

Chance: So, the corporate world, huh?

Jill: Oh, my god. It’s your family legacy.

Chance: Mhm-hm. Did you two talk about this?

In unison: What?

Chance: Try to mix something up together again?

Jill: Absolutely not.

[ Text alert ] Ah, it’s devon. He wants to meet with– with me and lily. I really better get going. Please, please take seriously my suggestion.

Chance: I will, I promise.

Jill: Okay. All right, darling. I love you.

Chance: I love you more.

Jill: Both of you take care.

Nina: Bye.

Chance: Okay. I know you want to say something. So, go ahead.

Nina: Well, you know, jill and I never see eye to eye on anything. We don’t have the closest relationship–

Chance: And yet you’re already, like, wow, what a brilliant idea.

Nina: Well, it is. I was the first one to suggest it to you.

Chance: Yeah, I know. What a coincidence.

Nina: No, jill and i did not collude on this. I promise you. We’re both telling you the truth. It’s just, uh, synchronicity in the universe. Maybe it’s meant to be.

Chance: Sure.

Nina: Look, jill’s right. I mean, you’ve been around business all your life. It’s in your dna. I have no doubt that this would come totally naturally to you.

Chance: Even though I have zero interest in sitting behind a desk and crunching the numbers.

Nina: Yes, please. A nice, safe desk job. Something to help your mother sleep at night. What a novel concept. And you know, it wouldn’t just be crunching numbers. You gotta read people and set priorities. And see five steps ahead and weigh the pros and cons. It’s nothing you’re not doing anyway. Come on, this could be really great for you. Will you just think about it, please? For me?

Chance: Okay. I will, I promise.

Tucker: I’m really not in the mood.

Ashley: Clearly. I can see that. What’s got devon so upset?

Tucker: It’s a personal and private family matter. So it really has nothing to do with you.

Ashley: Unfortunately, whether or not we’re married, we share a grandson. Looks like you need somebody to talk to.

Tucker: Someone maybe, but not you.

[ Ashley sighs ]

Ashley: Can you afford to be so picky? Look at your life. I mean, it’s imploding. Our marriage is done. Your business is done. Looks like your relationship with your child is done. Well, it’s the truth and you do realize that whatever affects devon affects my daughter and our grandson. So, I mean… I’m willing to listen.

Tucker: Which accomplishes what, exactly?

Ashley: That’s a good question. Do you want to fix things? Because if you stop being such an ass, I might be willing to help.

Tucker: You’re right, devon is upset.

Ashley: Yeah. Why?

Tucker: Phyllis, I assume, uh… spreading lies and exaggerations about me. And apparently one of them got back to devon and it was the final straw for him and he has… cut me out of his life.

Ashley: So, what was this faux lie that destroyed your relationship?

Tucker: I made an investment in mamie johnson’s company and I didn’t tell devon about it.

Ashley: Interesting. So, she did get involved with you. Okay. So you had a business relationship with devon’s aunt that you didn’t reveal. Something else?

Tucker: Well, now mamie has invested in chancellor-winters. So devon suspects that she and I are colluding. And that my intention is to buy a stake in the company.

Ashley: Mhm. And I’m assuming he’s right?

Tucker: No.

Ashley: No?

Tucker: No.

Ashley: Well, that’s the only thing that makes sense. I mean, clearly, that’s one of the reasons you came back to genoa city, right? Is to get your hands on chancellor and jabot.

Tucker: Ashley, even if that were true. Why would i acknowledge it to you?

[ Ashley laughs ]

Ashley: Well, then don’T. You know, I don’t really care.

Tucker: Oh.

Ashley: Well, honestly, tucker, all this game-playing and lying. It’s exhausting even hearing about it. How do you do it?

Tucker: Wow. Your assessment of me is lovely as ever.

Ashley: It is what it is.

Tucker: We really have no common ground between us, do we?

Ashley: Actually, as I said, we share a grandson. There’s no greater common ground than that.

Tucker: So what?

Ashley: So… you’re a crappy romantic partner, right? You’re a barely decent father. But you do happen to be an excellent grandfather. I’ll give you that. So in the spirit of family peace, I’m willing to help you mend things with your son.

Tucker: Why would you do that?

Ashley: Well, definitely not for you. But I’m doing it for him and for my daughter and for that beautiful little boy.

Jack: You always have a way of saying the right thing. I am eternally grateful.

Diane: Well, I’m just relieved that I finally got through to our son.

Jack: And look, I’m grateful to you as well, for having the wisdom to change your position.

Kyle: Well, you and me both.

Jack: Listen, at the risk of pushing. I know it’s taken a while to get here. But is there anything I can say or do to lure you over the finish line?

Diane: I second that. What will it take?

Kyle: There’s nothing else you can say, either of you.

Diane: You know how much we want you back where you belong. With your family at jabot.

Kyle: I know, but… just talking it out with you has helped. Knowing the fact that you didn’t say it was too late and take the offer off the table. No, I– I don’t think I need any more time.

Jack: Wait. Does– does that mean?

Kyle: Yeah, I’m– I’m in. I’ll take the job. Back where I belong.

[ Jack grunting ]

Devon: So I wanted to update both of you as soon as possible.

Jill: What’s the latest?

Devon: I went to confront tucker about what you told me regarding his involvement in mamie’s investment.

Jill: And what did he have to say for himself?

Devon: What do you think he had to say? He denied it.

Jill: Oh, of course, he did. He wouldn’t reveal any of his cards to me either when I spoke to him. But I had this teeny little hope that he would be honest with his son.

Devon: Oh, no, he– he doesn’t care at all about that.

Lily: So he didn’t admit to anything?

Devon: Nothing about the collusion. But I believe he does have some kind of plan in the works. And we need to be ready for it.

Jill: Oh, we will be.

Lily: Yeah. I mean, now that we know he poses a threat, we’ll definitely take precautions.

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: But I’m really sorry that he let you down again. I really do believe you deserve better.

Devon: Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. I’m just glad that I know what I’m dealing with and how to move forward with him. ‘Cause he cannot be trusted. And he’s not worth any more of my time.

Lily: Well, look, I don’t want to make light of what you’re going through. But I’m really happy that you’re finally seeing who he really is.

Devon: I’m a little disappointed, more for dominic than anyone else in all this. But I don’t have a choice but to cut him off.

Lily: Well, maybe it’ll be a wake-up call for him.

Jill: No, I appreciate your optimism but I don’t think it’s gonna do him any good to have false hope. Tucker is tucker.

Devon: Very true. And in the meantime, we all need to pull together to figure out how to protect the company from whatever attack is coming.

Jill: Agreed.

Devon: In order to do that though, we need to know what tucker is up to.

Lily: Well, which is hard because he’s not honest about anything.

Devon: Exactly. But I have an idea of how to figure out what tucker’s plans are. That I’m hoping both of you will be on board with. You know that feeling of having to rewash dishesthat didn’t get clean? I don’T.

Tucker: You’re serious? You would actually help me with devon?

Ashley: I think that devon wants and genuinely needs to have a relationship with you. And this hits me where I live, tucker. I know what it’s like to cut off a parent and live with so many regrets about the lost time.

Tucker: If you could actually do what you’re proposing, obviously, that would be great. But…

Ashley: But what? This isn’t a negotiation. It’s a yes or no thing.

Tucker: How much pull do you have with devon?

>>Ashley: Well, I have a lot of pull with my daughter and you know how much he loves her. I think it’s worth a shot. You either do or you don’t, so…

Tucker: And what is it you want in return?

Ashley: I– I just can’t do this.

Tucker: All right. There she goes, running away.

Ashley: You know what? Don’t you even start with me. You want to go there?

Tucker: If I accept this offer that doesn’t make us friends.

Ashley: I don’t want to be your friend. I see there’s no possibility in that.

Tucker: Have you ever seen otherwise? Why don’t you just tell me this whole thing has been a ruse since we got back from paris. I’ll respect you a little more.

Ashley: I don’t need and want your respect.

Tucker: Oh, gee. I thought you said we could be civil towards one another.

Ashley: Yeah, I did because I thought it would be nice to gush over our gorgeous grandson’s photos someday or maybe sit in a family dinner without causing a scene. Other than that, I want nothing from you.

Tucker: Okay. Fine. I accept your offer. Thank you very much.

Ashley: You’re welcome. Fantastic. Have a great day.

Tucker: You too.

Ashley: You too.

Nina: You’re placating your mother, aren’t you? You’re humoring her so she’ll stop pushing.

Chase: Yeah, maybe just a little bit. Because I’m not ready to upend my whole career a week after getting shot. I mean, does that make any sense?

Nina: No. Not at all. But okay. I’ll support you in whatever you decide. Whether it’s chancellor-winters or some other direction.

Chance: Well, thank you. It’s just– it’s a big change, mom. It’s like stepping off a cliff. I don’t even know if I’m gonna be good at it.

Nina: I know. We’ve had this discussion before about you changing direction. I’m well aware of how difficult it would be for you to change course like this.

Chance: Yeah. I committed myself to a life of service. To serve and protect. It’s a mindset.

Nina: A mission.

Chase: Exactly. In everything I’ve done, that has been the core.

Nina: But it’s not the first time you’ve ended up hurt. And in the hospital. Just fighting for your life. I mean, how many more times, chance? Haven’t you given enough?

Chance: I– I– I’m sorry. I know I– I know I scared you.

Nina: Surviving this last bullet should be a reminder of how lucky you are to be alive, sitting here and talking to me. I mean, I’m fun to talk to, right?

[ Nina sniffling ]

Chance: Yes. Yes, you are fun to talk to. I’m never not gonna be grateful for that.

Nina: You gotta stick around, chance, okay? For my sake. For everyone else that loves you.

Chance: Trust me, you’re stuck with me.

Nina: Good.

Chance: I’ll be honest with you. There’s just– there’s one thing that’s been… just eating at me about all this.

Nina: What? Tell me.

Chance: You know, my whole life, I just ran away from the chancellor legacy. I didn’t want anything to do with it. And I, uh– I wonder if it’s because i thought I wasn’t worthy enough. You know, I wouldn’t measure up.

[ Nina scoffs ]

Nina: Well, you know what I’m going to say about that. And I think jill would agree with me. In fact, she’d probably smack you upside the head just for thinking that way.

Chase: An injured man? She would never. You know, maybe it’s time for me to rethink my place as a chancellor, and… in the family business.

Nina: That would be my dearest wish come true.

Ashley: Well, what’s going on here?

Jack: Perfect timing, ashley. Please join me in welcoming kyle back to jabot as our new chief operating officer.

Ashley: Congratulations. So you’re not gunning after billy’s job anymore?

Kyle: So you heard about that?

Ashley: I did. Not your smartest move.

Jack: Ashley…

Kyle: No, no, no, she’s right. It uh, took a few smackdowns, but I finally got set straight.

Ashley: I hope so.

Kyle: Family is a priority and I’m determined to be a team player. Especially after whatever tucker’s next move is.

Ashley: Guess what? I just spoke with tucker at the club.

Diane: You mean an actual conversation with him?

Ashley: Yeah. A conversation. I walked in on a confrontation between him and devon.

Jack: What was devon confronting him about?

Ashley: Yeah. Apparently, devon found out that tucker invested in mamie’s company. And he’s convinced that tucker and mamie are going after chancellor now.

Jack: That man will do anything. And what– what is mamie doing being involved with a man like that? That’s not like her.

Ashley: Uh, think about it a second. You know how much mamie hates jill. So maybe she thinks it’s worth it to work with tucker, so he goes after jill. I don’t know.

Jack: Yeah. I suppose.

Ashley: Yeah. Well, anyway, tucker was really hurting after the fight. Of course, he takes no responsibility for anything, as usual. But I offered to help, I don’t know, mend things between him and his son.

Jack: He’s already made it very clear to you. He is not gonna fall for any effort to get closer to him.

Ashley: Yeah. It’s not about that, jack. Okay? This is about helping the man that my daughter is in love with.

Jack: You shouldn’t get involved. If all of that is true, devon needs to separate himself from his father.

Ashley: Jackie, come on. Stop, please. How is that your call?

Jack: It’s not my call. It’s not yours either. Look, I had this argument with billy. I– I was against it then. I’m against it now.

Ashley: Duly noted. Tucker is not my favorite person right now. Okay? But I do think that devon deserves to have a relationship with his father and I’ll do what I need to do to make that happen. That’s all.

Jack: No, you’re not helping. You’re just taking advantage.

Ashley: That’s your opinion. What do you need to hear from me? I promise you. I– I don’t have any intentions of reconnecting with tucker on any level. This is about a father and son.

Jack: Exploiting a parent-child relationship is wrong and you know that.

Ashley: I’m not exploiting anybody. I’m not forcing anyone to do anything. This should make sense to you because even though we hated what dina did to us and to our father. We all wish we had more time with her. Right?

Jack: Tucker is not dina. You are meddling and you should be walking away.

Ashley: Okay. Just hear me out. I know that tucker needs and wants devon’s love and approval more than anything. And devon needs and wants a relationship with his father. I don’t see anything wrong with nudging that in the right direction. And just listen. Full disclosure, if all this kumbaya means that tucker decides to back off of jabot. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Wouldn’t it? It could actually happen because nobody can tap into tucker’s humanity like devon.

Jack: I still think we should go with my plan. Release the dirt we have on him and let it destroy the man.

Ashley: The stakes aren’t high enough with your plan. So if– if you publish that article and it doesn’t stop tucker, we’ve got nothing left, jack.

Diane: Jack, I’m sorry but I– I have to agree with ashley. I mean, right now it could just inflame tucker.

Kyle: Yeah. I think we should go with ashley’s plan. See if reconnecting with his son changes tucker’s course.

Jack: Well, it appears I’m outnumbered.

Ashley: Oh. So? Does that mean you’re gonna back off of releasing that article?

Jack: Yeah, we can sit on it a bit longer. At least we know we have it if we need it.

[ Phone ringing] Sorry, I have to take this. Excuse me.

[ Ashley sighs ] Hello?

Ashley: Okay. Well, I need to go too. Thanks. I’ll see you both later.

[ Door shuts ]

Chance: Voicemail. Hey, grandma, it’s chance. Uh, when you get a minute, I’d love to meet up with you and talk. Call me back.

Nina: Thank you. For taking the first step.

Chance: Yeah. Well, we’ll see what happens. Okay?

Nina: Oh, my goodness. A suit and tie? That’d be so cute. I can’t wait to see that every day.

Chance: No, no, no. Don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m gonna meet with her. I’m gonna get some information and try to understand what this means. Okay?

Nina: Look, you’re not gonna talk me out of being happy about this. Okay?

Chance: Wait, wait. What was that? You said every day?

Nina: Yeah, it’d be terrible for you, wouldn’t it?

Chance: Well, no, I think it’d be– it’d be kind of nice to have you around.

Nina: Well, I don’t know all my plans at the moment. But you’re not getting rid of me just yet.

Chance: Okay. I’ll take it.

Nina: Yeah. You talk a good game. But if I was around all the time, you’d get sick of me nagging.

Chance: Ah, yes. I definitely would. It doesn’t mean I don’t want you around here, though.

Nina: Oh, I love you so much, my son.

Chance: I love you.

Jill: I’m not sure about this. This is risky.

Devon: But you do think it could work though, right?

Jill: Well, there’s no guarantee and I can tell you it requires a level of trust that I’m not feeling right now.

Devon: No. I– I understand that and I know we would be putting ourselves on the line. But I really do think that this plan is the best way to get the information that we need.

Jill: So, what do you think, lily?

Lily: I mean, I agree with the risk factor…

Jill: But is it worth it?

Lily: Well, I mean, it might be the only chance we have to figure out what tucker is really up to.

Devon: Yeah. And the first step is to uncover the threat.

Lily: And then once we know that then we can stop him in his tracks.

Devon: Right.

Jill: Boy, would that be a relief.

Devon: And I don’t know about both of you, but I sure would love to be able to throw tucker’s lies back into his face.

Jill: Oh, are you kidding? I would enjoy every second of it.

Devon: Yeah. And let him know that our company is not a toy to be played with.

Jill: Yep.

[ Knock on door ]

Devon: Are we all in agreement?

Lily: Yeah. Yes.

Devon: Yeah?

Jill: Let’s do this.

Devon: Okay, let’s do it. Hi. Come in you, two.

Nate: I was surprised to get the invitation.

Mamie: Pleasantly surprised.

Devon: Well, we all have something very important to discuss with you.

Diane: How do you feel?

Kyle: It feels good. I think I made the right decision.

Diane: I’m glad you took my advice to come back to jabot. It’s a good strategy and it will be wonderful to have you there.

Kyle: Taking the C.O.O. Position is one thing. The next, may not be as easy. I’m worried I’m out of my league.

Diane: Well, don’t second guess yourself. I have complete faith in you.

Kyle: I know what I need to do now.

Diane: Yeah. You are going to be the one to save jabot from tucker. Not ashley, not billy, but you. And once you do, you will forever have hero status and everything that comes with it.

Kyle: Mhm. Dad’s done so much for me. More than I deserve. I can’t let him down.

Diane: Yeah. And when your father finds out what you did for this family, he will be so proud of you. I already am.

Kyle: I need to talk to you.

Ashley: Have you spoken with devon?

Abby: I have, yes. He was just here. Why?

Ashley: I walked in on what looked like a very intense confrontation between him and tucker.

Abby: Yeah, he came here afterwards. It’s bad, mom. Devon is very upset.

Ashley: Mhm. Do you know what the fight was about?

Abby: Oh, you know, the usual. Tucker only caring about himself.

Ashley: Well, I know for a fact that tucker cares very deeply for his son.

Abby: Oh, really? Well, not enough to not lie to his son and secretly try to go after his company.

Ashley: Does he have proof of that?

Abby: Yes, he does, mom. I’m not sure what it is, but he has proof.

Ashley: Do you think there’s any chance of them recovering from this?

Abby: Devon says he’s done. And honestly, after this latest revelation, I think their relationship might be severed forever.

Ashley: Okay. Uh, yeah, I know that you’ve worked really hard at including tucker when it comes to dominic. And, uh, you did that when you didn’t want to. So how do you feel about this situation?

>>Abby: I mean, it doesn’t really matter how I feel about it. It’s devon and I see that he’s hurting. I mean, every time he trusts his dad he lets him down.

Ashley: So, how do you feel about maybe trying to mend things for the two of them?

Abby: How?

Ashley: I don’t know. Well, you could start by talking to devon. Just say exactly what you said to me and I’ll try to support you in any way I can.

Abby: Mom, devon is a big boy. I cannot make these decisions for him. And god forbid, I push him into a relationship with his father and he gets hurt again. I would never be able to forgive myself.

Ashley: Okay, well, isn’t he hurting already? Maybe there’s something we can do to ease the pain.

Mamie: So what are we doing here? Can I presume that we are ready to finalize nate’s return to chancellor-winters?

Devon: No. Not quite. We first need you to be honest with us.

Mamie: Okay, about what?

Devon: About your real intentions. Because we all know that you and tucker have some sort of plan in the works.

Jill: A plan that involves ousting me.

Lily: And there’s no point in denying it. We know the truth.

Mamie: Tucker has made some investments in my company.

Jill: Oh, please. This is not just about funds. You and tucker are colluding to exercise your mutual goals.

Nate: Wait. So then have you just been using me? As some part of your overall plan?

Mamie: Not at all, baby. I’ve been telling you the truth. I’m just trying to get you back into the family.

Devon: Yeah. But you were willing to lie to all of us to make that happen.

Mamie: I no longer have any affiliation with your father. And I told him that to his face when I became aware of some of his many transgressions.

Jill: Why should we believe anything you say?

Mamie: You can trust me. My ultimate goal has always been to unite our family under one corporate umbrella. That has never changed.

Devon: Well, mamie, if that is the truth, then we’re gonna give you an opportunity to prove it.

Mamie: Okay. Then just tell me how.

Devon: You need to tell us what tucker’s real agenda is. ‘Cause I imagine you have an idea. And if you can do that, we can start to consider bringing nate back to chancellor-winters. But only if you are honest with us.

Audra: Kyle is reaching out. You were right.

Tucker: Reel him back in.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Gasps ]

[ Exhales heavily ]

[ Sighs heavily ] Good morning. Alright, maybe just have a sit on this bench right here. Alright? Are you okay? Alright, I’m gonna try to find someone for you. Oh, mrs. Baldwin. Hi. Hi, josslyn. What can I do for you? This is my friend adam wright. I just brought him in from pcu. He was nauseous, hyperventilating, sweating. I think he needs to see a doctor right away. No! No, I — no.

[ Knock on door ] Come in.

[ Door opens ] Hi. Oh, you’re right on time. Thanks for seeing me. Of course. Are you okay? You didn’t say what this was about, and you seem a little — edgy? Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Alright. How about you have a seat and you tell me what’s going on? No, sit. Alright, uh — I need to find an attorney. And I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. O-okay, but you’re gonna have to narrow this down a little bit. What kind of attorney? One that can save my career from being destroyed. I don’t know how you did this, brook lynn. I am doing a guest vocal on magnum’s new track? I told you we are gonna take your career to the next level. Well, you delivered. But we are on a deadline. We’ve got to get down these tracks today. I’m ready to get into the recording booth. Okay. Do you need any support from me or…? Um…

[ Door opens ] Actually, my support just arrived. Now that ned is back to being ned, we’ve got to come up with a new game plan for elq. It hasn’t changed my mind. We still have to move forward. Of course we do, but it just might be easier said than done. We have to do what’s best for the company. I mean, elq has been unstable for almost a year. Between valentin’s absence and ned’s erratic behavior, I mean, we’re still on shaky ground. Our whole plan was predicated on ned remaining eddie. That’s not the case anymore. So we just need to come up with a new strategy.

[ Telephone ringing ] Yes? Alright, send him up. Well, ned’s here. Showtime. Trish: Hi. And your server will be with you in a few minutes. Okay. And if you have any questions, let me know. It doesn’t change the fact that you did not send the full order of the king crab legs to my chef! No, listen, j– just do me a favor. Just send them as soon as you can. Thank you.

[ Scoffs ] Ha! Oh, hey. Um, you want another one? Okay, I’m gonna go get a bartender for you. Okay. Trish: Carly! Hi! Hey. Hey, trish. How are you?Good. There’s a rumor going around that you might be coming back. Now that ned is back to being ned, we’ve got to come up with a new game plan for elq. It hasn’t changed my mind. [ Scoffs ] Ha! Oh, hey. Um, you want another one? Okay, I’m gonna go get a bartender for you. Okay. Trish: Carly! Hi! Hey. Hey, trish. How are you?Good. There’s a rumor going around that you might be coming back. Is it true? You’re not prone to hyperbole. This sounds clearly serious. It is. Take a breath. Have a seat.

[ Breathes deeply ] Okay. Okay. Okay? Now give me some specifics. For the first time in my career, I am facing a malpractice lawsuit. That could be significant. It could also be frivolous. It could be a disgruntled patient that’s looking for a payout. It isn’t frivolous. The patient in question — dennis muldoon — he died. And now his family is suing the hospital and myself. Money is — is not an object for these people. And I don’t think they’re looking for a quick payout. Okay, let’s start at the beginning. When was the first time you saw mr. Muldoon? It was april of this year. He, uh… he traveled extensively for work to remote locations, and he came to see me thinking he had contracted something along the lines of a tapeworm. I, uh — I ran standard blood work and cultures and confirmed that he had a tapeworm. And I sent him home with a plan of treatment. And he called me a few days later, and he said he was feeling much better. And I had also asked him to come back in for some further testing, including a colonoscopy, just to be sure. But he was off on another business trip, and he didn’t come back in for two months. At that time, I increased the scope of the blood work and did the additional testing, including the colonoscopy. And it revealed that he had stage 4 cancer. At that point, there was nothing that I or oncology could do to save him. Now his family is filing a lawsuit against the hospital and myself. So, what do you think? Well, the first thing I’m gonna do is advise you to stay clear of the general hospital attorneys. I have the utmost respect for the place, but do not associate with these attorneys because they have one goal, and that goal is to protect the hospital. Meaning? They will throw you under the bus.

[ Trilling lips ] So, we’re going for a really full, rich sound, okay? I want to double up on the vocal on the chorus. You got it. I think I know what you’re looking for. What does that one do? This controls the level. How’s this, blaze? Uh, less reverb. Thanks. This is so cool! It’s much more fun to mix music than mix drinks. I haven’t been in the studio in a while. I forgot how great the energy is. I don’t need to see a doctor. I thought I did, so that’s why I agreed to let joss bring me here, but I’m fine. Really. I-I — I just want to go back to my dorm, that’s all. No, no, he’s not fine. Because we were in class and you started to have trouble breathing. The ta had to stop the exam. They wanted to call him an ambulance. The only reason they didn’t was because I agreed to bring him here. Oh, my god, the test. W-we’re missing it. What are we gonna do? It’s gonna be okay. Don’t worry about it. It’s not gonna be okay! What if I fail the class?! Adam, let’s just sit down for a minute, okay? Okay, adam, you’re not gonna fail the class. Please just try to stay calm. Okay, I’m going to take you to an exam room and have a doctor check you out, alright? Josslyn, don’t leave me, please! Please tell me you did not sleep outside my dorm room all night. No, I sure did. You could have gotten me in trouble with the ra. Are you crazy? Crazy in love with you. I’m serious.

[ Chuckling ] Yeah. So am I. So, this is how you choose to get my attention? Well, uh, trina, I tried everything, okay? Short of skywriting, I — you weren’t returning my calls. You weren’t returning my texts. Did you think that maybe I didn’t want to talk to you? It never occurred to you to respect my wishes, apparently. Trina… I’m really sorry. I know that I screwed up. It was one of those moments where the words — they were coming out of my mouth and I wanted them to stop, but it was already too late because you can’t un-ring the bell. I…

[ Sighs ] I don’t even know what that means. Did you even read the cards that I sent you? No. Well, they all say the same thing. Well, then I’m glad I didn’t bother reading them. They say I’m sorry… and I was wrong. And exactly what do you think you were wrong about? Carly: You never know what the future holds. Maybe someday, but right now, I’m focused on kelly’S. How’s it going here? I can’t complain. It’s all good. But you are definitely missed. I miss you guys, too. Oh, mr. Cain was here last week. He looked really great. But, you know, you must be out of your mind that he was in prison. Ah, yeah, well, he never should have been there to begin with, but I am really happy he’s home. Uh, hey. Hi, carly. Trish. Any chance that you’re here to discuss my offer? Nice to see you both.Glad you could make it. Not really sure which greeting is proper here. Is this a welcome-back situation or… well, I don’t know if there’s any rule book for this one. I’m sorry to hear about your ordeal in pentonville, and I was relieved to hear that you were released early. Nobody was more relieved than me. I couldn’t wait to get out of that place. You weren’t after aurora’s ceo — you wanted to take down carly. I don’t know where you came up with this, ned, but you couldn’t be more wrong. I just overheard your conversation with your lawyer, martin. You know, everyone believes that I was the one who handed carly and drew over to the sec, but it was you all along. I promised that I would sit on this information for a while, but it can’t wait. Drew, there’s something that you need to know about the sec charges. Dn’t have missed thisfor the world. This is great. Oh, you say that now, but it’s not all that glamorous. There’s a lot of sitting around between takes, so it helps to have company. Uh, hello? You’re here in a professional capacity, ms. Manager.

[ Chuckles ] Thank you. For what? For distracting me. You’re keeping my mind off the butterflies in my stomach. You? Nervous? You’re a pro. You’re always cool and confident. That’s just smoke and mirrors. This is a huge opportunity. There’s a lot riding on this. I’ve been dying to work with magnum, but what if I blow it and the song tanks? But what if you don’t? What if it’s a hit? Terry. Morning. Hi. Do you have those figures for me? Yes. Yesterday we processed 87 patients in the er, and 19 of them were admitted. Thanks, elizabeth. Mm-hmm. I’ve got to get back to the office. I’ll see you later. Wait, wait, terry, um… do you have any updates on the, uh… muldoon malpractice suit? You know I can’t talk about this, especially with you, given your relationship with finn. I know. I was just hoping that maybe — I’m not at liberty to disclose anything about the case. Okay, I’m not asking for details. I was just hoping you can give me a sense of what was going on. I’m sorry. I know you’re in a difficult position, but the hospital policy is clear. And as co-chief of staff, I have to be in full compliance. There can be no sign of any impropriety. It could look like I’m protecting finn. Well, isn’t that what you should be doing? He’s not only your co-worker, terry. He’s your friend. Exactly. That’s the problem. Personally, do I want to protect finn? Of course. But professionally, I have to keep my distance and follow the rules to the letter. This is one of those cases where how things appear is more important than how they really are. Can you understand that? Terry and portia are not only co-chiefs of staff, but I’d also like to think they’re my friends and they wouldn’t throw me under the bus. Regardless of your personal relationships, this is not about friends. This is business to general hospital. You came to me for advice. I really need you to listen to me. Okay. I used to be really good at this and I know my way around a courtroom and I know these kind of attorneys. And I know that their only objective when it comes to a malpractice suit is to win at all costs. They will not do the noble thing. And if you end up being collateral damage, so be it. And here I thought you were gonna put my mind at ease. I’m just trying to get you to understand this case and see what they could do. They are going to present this in the most simple narrative. It’s a wealthy family who lost a son, a father, a husband in his prime, and they’re grieving and they want someone to pay. What do you think the jury will believe? Hopefully the truth — that I had nothing to do with this man’s death. Um, I’m gonna get back to work. Nice to see you, carly. You too. Do you want to sit down? Sure. Alright. Here. Um, look, I’m just curious. Why? Why did you offer to sell me back my half of the hotel? I mean, I realize you have a lot on your plate with crimson, but you could ask olivia to take on more work. Well, olivia is stretched pretty thin as it is. Okay. Then hire a manager. Or promote from within. There are many ways for you to retain your half of the hotel. Are you having financial issues? My financial situation is on solid ground. Thank you. Great, great. Then why are you doing this? Is it because of willow? This was before the fall at the pool. Yeah. I was there with tracy. You came rushing in, calling my name. Seemed like you wanted to tell me something important, and that’s when you hit your head. Yeah. The details were a little fuzzy at first, but I remember everything now. I remember what I came to tell you.

[ Telephone ringing ] Excuse me one second. Yes? Put her through. Hi. Ms. Trant? Yes, yes, I have a prospectus ready for you with the construction figures. Yeah, my assistant will email you, and then we can discuss it in further detail when I see you in sydney next month. Yeah. Me too. We’ll celebrate breaking ground. Okay. Bye. Thank you. Was that angela trant at rcd in australia? Yes. Is that a problem? Yeah, I don’t see why aurora, a media company, would be making a deal with rcd. The deal was for elq. You really think it could be a hit? With your talent, why not? And from what I know about brook lynn, that woman is unstoppable. Yeah, but the market is so saturated these days. Everyone’s posting new music online. The competition is fierce. So this is when you roar. Show them what you got. But even if the song does take off, the real money is in touring. Okay, then tour. I mean, you’ve got enough material. What could be better than singing to a sold-out crowd? Being with someone. Touring is lonely. And to be honest, I’m tired of being alone. It’s not gonna take much to convince a jury that an overworked doctor had a patient who believed that he had a tapeworm and this doctor took the patient at face value and missed the clue that the real ailment was cancer. I am an infectious disease specialist. I went looking for a parasite and I found one. When a jury hears the word “cancer,” it will trigger them because at least one of them, if not all of them, have lost a loved one to cancer. That’s a compelling story, don’t you think?

[ Scoffs ] I don’t know what to think anymore. I’m telling you that you need to find the right attorney because if you don’t, your career will be over. It was wrong of me to give you an ultimatum. And I’d do anything to take it back. It’s obviously too late for that now. And even though I don’t like the way you said it, you did bring up a good point. What are your priorities? Who comes first for you? I-I’d like to think it’s — it’s me and our relationship, but maybe it’s ace and esme. You know I don’t care about esme. Sometimes I’m not sure about that.

[ Sighs ] My little brother needs me, and I’m not gonna turn my back on him. No one’s asking you to do that. The fact that it’s hard for you to accept esme moving out as a normal progression — it tells me all I need to know. What does that mean? Clearly, we have different ideas of what our relationship is and where it’s going. Adam’s been cleared to go home. Oh. Thank you. I was so worried. I mean, I guess I’ve never seen anyone in the middle of a panic attack. It’s scary. Yeah. Well, you did the right thing by bringing him here. So, what did the doctors say? I mean, is he gonna be okay? All I can tell you is that he’s been cleared to go home and that’s a good sign. You know what else is a good sign? What? Your future as a doctor. What do you mean? Well, the fact that you brought him here and the way you looked after him shows what kind of doctor

you’re gonna be. I have high hopes for you, dr. Jacks. Thank you. Now go see if he’s ready to leave. Adam: Come in. Hey. How are you feeling? I’m — I’m — I’m fine. Look, I’m — I’m really — I’m sorry for blowing up at you before. But it — it’s all good now. No. It’s not. You really have to find the right fit for you. And I so wish I could do this for you. I wish I could fight for you. But I can’T. That ship has sailed. Okay. Alright. Well, look, you can’t throw a stick without hitting a lawyer in this town. There’s got to be somebody who will take this on. The person that I would recommend would be diane. But I know that she is swamped. She’s overwhelmed right now, and she’s probably not gonna be able to take the case. Great. So, why not your pal tracy? Give her a call. Well, she’d be tough in the courtroom, but the last time I checked, she doesn’t have a law degree. She has the last name quartermaine, and anyone with the last name quartermaine has access to top-notch lawyers on their retainer. No, no. I know. I know. It’s just — it’s the wrong time to ask tracy for a favor. I think she would be happy to help you. Yes. No, I’m sure she would, but she’s — she’s in amsterdam. She’s meeting bobbie spencer. Something about settling luke’s affairs. Alright, well, I’m glad she’s there to help. Who else? Who else? Well, elizabeth offered to talk to scott baldwin. I’m not sure he’s the — the best choice, but she says he’s good at his job. Scott can be brash, and he’s a little odd, but he’s actually smart. He’s also not the right attorney for you. You don’t need brash. You need subtle. Subtle. Yeah, that’s probably not scott. Okay, I just told you that diane is probably too busy, and she probably is, but I’m still gonna try and call her anyway. Yeah? How could you possibly be lonely with thousands of fans chanting your name? I sure wish the staff at charlie’s would do that for me when I walked in.

[ Chuckles ] “And the pub goes wild!”

[ Chanting ] “Kristina!” Now, that would be something. “Kristina!”

[ Both laugh ] What are you gals laughing about? Oh, I was getting too serious, so kristina’s trying to make me smile. Well, seems like she’s succeeding. I was just telling her how touring isn’t as cool as it looks. It’s hard work. Sound checks, dance rehearsals, promoters. I could see that. Oh, never mind. I’m being ridiculous. No, you’re just telling it like it is. You know, blaze, you’re right. It does — it sounds lonely. I have a feeling you know something about loneliness. Audio engineer: Are you ready to do this? You what? I made a deal with rcd. Actually, we closed in july, but there was still a few terms we had to iron out first. Ned, this is what’s best for the company. Last time I checked, I’m president of this company! Yeah, well, we had no idea when you were gonna recover. Recover? You make it sound like I was in rehab. I was in port charles the whole time. Come on, ned. For all intents and purposes,

you weren’t here. It was eddie. Ned, hey, look, the deal is done. What are the terms? Elq has all the paperwork, so feel free to look it over, but you’ll see that I got rcd to agree to more favorable terms. And I’m gonna be in sydney next month to inaugurate the first stage of construction. You had no authority to do that! Why would you think willow has anything to do with this? She just found out about it when we were discussing it at kelly’S. I just wondered if willow was the real incentive for you to sell. It makes sense. You want a closer relationship with willow and your grandson, and what better way to get that than to make peace with me? Am I right? My mom’s alzheimer’s never changed how much we love her. While I appreciate you taking this on, michael, you had no authority to act on elq’s behalf. Why don’t you look over the deal before criticizing it? Whether it’s a sound deal or not is irrelevant. You know it wasn’t your place to take this on! You should have been the one dealing with this, ned. We couldn’t count on you because you proclaimed to the world that you were eddie maine and all you cared about was your music! And valentin — I mean, valentin’s been awol for months dealing with the fallout from his lunatic father. I was in prison. So, what exactly did you expect michael to do? I mean, he was the only one qualified to engage with rcd. If it wasn’t for him, there’d be no deal. So I think the appropriate response should be, “thank you.” Of course I want a closer relationship with willow, yes. And you getting your hotel back would definitely go a long way to repairing the family rift. That’s what willow said. And I get it. And things won’t feel right till I get my hotel back. Great. Okay, so, I will go grab the paper– hold on. I appreciate the offer. But I’m gonna pass. I’ve been supportive to you and your situation. And I appreciate that. And I’ve been respectful to your love towards ace and your sense of responsibility to him. But that has somehow translated to me standing on the sidelines. I’m not allowed on the field. I watch you put all your focus and energy into ace and, by extension, esme, and I’m not okay with that. So, what are you saying? I don’t want to be around esme anymore. This is the woman who tried to destroy my life. Okay, but that was the old esme. She has no memory of that. I understand that, and I’ve accepted it. But I still have to live with the memory. She still looks like the same person, and that is difficult for me. I don’t want to be around her. Okay, but esme and ace are a pack– they’re a package deal. So, what do you want me to do? You want me — what do you want me to do about that? You want me not to make you choose, but you never asked me what my choice would be. Okay. What is it? I choose to put myself first, not to go along with this dysfunctional situation that is bound to blow up. If you’re going to stay with esme and ace, you’re gonna do it without me. Don’t turn it into something it’s not. I’m not overreacting because the second the exam started, you were freaking out. You were dizzy, hyperventilating, and even in the car on the way here, you told me that your heart was racing. Yeah, that was just the stuff I took to help me study. Oh. What “stuff” would that be? It’s like a — a supplement. A pill. It’s some big, long name. Dextro-something. It’s supposed to help you focus. A ton of people take it, and I just — I took too much this morning. It’s really — josslyn, it’s — it’s no big deal. No, it is a big deal because that’s an amphetamine. That’s speed. I didn’t score some street drug, okay?

[ Chuckles ] I have a prescription, okay? I have a prescription for it. I’ll be more careful next time. It — it won’t happen again. And if it does happen again? N-now you’re the one who needs to calm down a little bit. Why are you doing this to yourself, adam? You’re miserable. If pre-med is torture for you, then you need to switch majors, something with less pressure. There is nothing else! Okay? Do you understand? This is all I’ve ever wanted since I was a kid. It’s been my dream. Is it your dream or is it your parents’? Diane, you got to trust me on this. This is — this is a “david versus goliath”-type case. No, I — I wouldn’t pitch this to you if I didn’t think that you would have a huge victory if you took this. You will? Yes! Thank you. Thank — thank you. Okay, fine. You’re the best.

[ Chuckles ]

Well, I’m here for you how did you pull this off?

I’m here for you well, originally they got a huge artist who shall remain nameless — beyoncé. Was it beyoncé? I am not at liberty to say. But the artist’s reps wanted exclusivity on the song. And then there were rumors flying around that negotiations had reached an impasse. That’s when I swooped in and pitched blaze. Very impressive. She’s lucky to have you. Well, if there’s one thing I’ve learned in the music biz, it’s that timing is everything. I have a really good feeling about this song. I really think it could be a hit, you know? Take blaze’s career to the next level.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Blaze: But you keep it all under lock and key

I know you better than you know yourself I’m sorry. I — I got to go. There’s something going on with my family, but, um, good luck.

Oh, after all this time, you can’t fool me

[Coughing] Copd isn’t pretty. I’m out of breath, and often out of the picture. But this is my story. ( ) And with once-daily trelegy, it can still be beautiful. Because with 3 medicines in 1 inhaler, trelegy keeps my airways open for a full 24 hours and prevents future flare-ups. Trelegy also improves lung function, so I can breathe more freely all day and night. I know what I have to do now. I have to let go. I need to stop trying to be ace’s father. And I need to realize that I’m his older brother and that I’m nothing more. You can still be supportive of him. There just has to be clear boundaries. You were right the whole time, and… I’m sorry. I just couldn’t see it. I need to stop trying to control esme and ace and… it’s not my place. So, um… yeah, they’re gonna move into their own place. And, uh… that’s a good thing. I think that that’s probably what’s best for everyone. Are you just saying that to put my mind at ease? Or do you really believe that? I’m trying to. And it might take me a little while to get there. But I will. And I know one thing for certain — that I don’t want you to come second to anyone. And from now on, I’m gonna make you my one and my only priority. And you’re your own person, trina. You have every right to be who you want to be and to make the choices that you want to make, live the life that you want to live, but I really, really hope that there’s a place in it for me. Are you okay? You barely spoke in the car. Yeah. I’m sorry for snapping at you. I’ve just… I’ve messed up everything. You didn’t even get to take the test. Here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna take the makeup test. And even if it doesn’t go well, it only counts for a fraction of our final grade, okay? So just try and give yourself a break. Okay. I’ll try. For you. Oh, wow. Thank you. You seem to be in better spirits than you were this morning. Maybe. And the reason is…? I just think it’s gonna be a beautiful day. You’re not talking about the weather. No. Earlier, you were awfully distracted. By the possible malpractice suit. Was it dropped? Where’s kristina? Oh, she had to leave. I don’t know. She got a text, something about her family, and she took off. But then I texted her that we’re gonna be here for a few hours, so maybe she’ll come back. I just hope everything’s okay with her family. Guess where I just was. Hi, sweetie. Hi. You’re gonna make me guess? Fine, I’ll tell you. I was at a recording studio with brook lynn and blaze. Blaze is recording a guest track for this major artist. I can’t say who, but it’s gonna be huge. Uh, that’s great. Honey, ha-have you heard from sam? She said that she was gonna call you. She’s been leaving me messages and texting me, telling me to call her, but I called her and it went straight to voicemail. So I came here thinking maybe you knew what was going on. Okay, joss. I’ll let myself off the hook. And it’s like you said. That test doesn’t count for most of the grade. Are you gonna be okay? Yeah, yeah, I’ll be fine. Hey, joss? Mm-hmm? Th– thank you for everything. You’re welcome. Ah. Looks like you two made up. Yes, we did, because somebody realized that he was wrong. I had some help getting there. Mm-hmm. Well, at least something worked out this morning. What? Does that mean that your organic chem test didn’t go well? Oh, my test didn’t go at all. I have to take a make-up test. What happened? You studied so hard. Um, adam had a panic attack, and I had to take him to the hospital. What? Is he okay?

[ Exhales sharply ] I mean, I don’t think so. I’m really worried about him. It’s not that I don’t want my half of the hotel back. I do. But I’m just not in the financial situation to do it. Well, I just assumed that michael would — I’m not gonna take money from my son. I got myself into this situation, and I’ll get myself out on my own.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Yeah. I’m trying to protect my family from you! See, my father is happy right now, so I’m not gonna take that away from him. I’m sure he’ll be happy until he finds out the kind of woman that you really are. I love sonny. I don’t care. I’m not risking my family. You will only see them when I say that it is okay to see them. And you’re gonna do something else for me, too. You’re gonna sell my mother her half of the metro court back. Uh, are you s-sure you won’t reconsider? Why don’t you take the deal for the good of the family? Don’t worry. Willow knows I’m not accepting. And she understands. Look, you made points by offering to sell to begin with.

[ Sighs ] Take the win. You get to keep your hotel, and you’re even closer to willow. Enjoy. Don’t pretend michael is some kind of hero. He’s a shark. He was waiting until valentin and I were out of the picture, and then he made his move. Oh, come on, don’t be so dramatic, ned. I made a deal, plain and simple. And it works for elq. You couldn’t have negotiated such favorable terms. Now that I think about it, maybe that’s why you’re throwing such a tantrum — because it’s killing you that michael did a better job than you could have done. You had your moment of glory. But from now on, you stay the hell out of elq. You are not a corporate officer. You’re only a shareholder. And let’s keep it that way.

[ Sighs ] That is proof right there that ned is unfit to run elq. He is a — a loose cannon. We have to move forward with this takeover while there’s still a company to save. No, no, the, uh — the malpractice suit has not been dropped, but, um… at least alexis has agreed to help me. Wait. I’m confused. She hasn’t been able to practice law for years. I know, but she still has contacts. I was just at her office and I asked her if she could help me find a good lawyer and she set up a — a lunch, uh, with diane miller. Oh, that’s great. I can’t tell you how many times she represented jason in court, and she always won. I mean, she’s the best. Okay. That’s what I’m counting on.

There’s something inside that weighs you down and you need someone to tell it to well, I’m here for you I’m here for you oh, your secret’s safe with me oh, your secret’s safe with me sometimes I wish that you would scream and yell but you keep it all under lock and key I know you better than you know yourself oh, after all this time, you can’t fool me oh, and if it takes all night I will be right by your side oh, oh we got it. This is gonna be a hit. Oh, oh

sam was gonna tell you. Mom, you’re scaring me. Did something happen? The surrogate had a miscarriage. Molly and tj lost the baby.

Blaze: I will be right by your side

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

Ava, hey.

Hey, Harris. Oh, I’m glad I caught you. Listen, I, uh–I just want to apologize again for missing dinner last night. I know I told you that I had the night off, but, uh, Gil called me to come in at the last minute to, um, go over the books.

No, it’s, uh–it’s all right. I know it’s hard to make plans when you’re running a restaurant.

Yeah. You don’t know the half of it. But, um, I’ve got a little bit of free time today, so I thought maybe we could sneak away, grab a drink, and, uh– I don’t know, just before the dinner rush starts.

Yeah, I think I can, uh– can make that work. Should I pick you up at your apartment, 5:00?

Yeah, that’s perfect.

[knock at door] OK–ooh. Right, but, um, I’ve got to go now. Somebody is at the door.

No problem. I’ll see you later.

OK.

[phone beeps]

[tense music]

We’re, uh, due in court soon.

Court? Oh, my God, I totally forgot.

[dramatic music] How can I leave her now? I can’t think about any of that stuff. No, we’re–we’re gonna have to postpone again. There’s no other way.

Maybe there is. What if I just… drop the case?

What do you mean? Xander, are you being serious?

Sarah, your daughter was taken from you today, and it was unbearable. The last thing I want is to take her away from you again.

Oh, Konstantin. You came here telling us you were from Greece. But the way you watch over us, I think you could very well be an angel, sent from heaven.

[grunts]

Konstantin! What on Earth are you doing?

Hi. It’s me, Theresa. I just wanted to make sure that you got Victoria back to Sarah. If this all blows up, you damn well better keep my name out of it. Nobody can ever find out what I did. You hear me?

[phone beeps]

So… Theresa, what did you do now?

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[dramatic music]

Wait. You’re really willing to drop the custody case?

Sarah, I know I said that I was willing to go to war, and I– well, I meant it at the time, but… our daughter was kidnapped today. During those few hours where she was gone where I thought I might never see her again, it just– well, it really put some things in perspective for me. I never want to go through anything like that again, and… thinking that I might put you through that, I–

Well, that’s the last thing I thought you’d say… Especially because I accused you of taking Victoria and also especially because she was taken on my watch. I thought you’d use that against me.

What? No, Sarah, I wouldn’t– I wouldn’t do that. What happened today wasn’t your fault. I hope you know that. The only one to blame is whoever took our daughter.

Oh, Maggie, I am so sorry. I should not have done that. Please tell me that we can forget this ever happened.

Do you always listen in on people’s private conversations?

I forgot this. Um, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, Theresa, but this is the farthest thing from a secluded hideaway. It’s a pretty public place to have a private conversation.

Well, if you were a gentleman, you would at least have the decency to make your presence known.

[sighs] You just–you just haven’t changed, have you? Just a couple minutes ago, I was trying to convince Alex not to hire you because I was sure that you were gonna do something underhanded to undermine Titan, this company that my grandfather spent his whole life building. But then I thought maybe I was overreacting. Maybe you have changed. And then, literally, I walk in on you admitting to someone that something is gonna blow up in your face. So, Theresa, my God, what is going on? Tell me what you did.

OK, fine. I’ll tell you.

Great. I…slept with Alex.

[sighs]

I have a rather delicate matter I need to discuss. I thought it best not to talk about it at the restaurant.

What’s this delicate matter, Gil? What do you want?

A key.

A key? Right. Oh, you need one to the employee restroom?

It’s not for the restaurant. It’s for the Salem PD evidence room.

Are you kidding? Why?

Apparently, one of our lower-level dealers got arrested last night with a certain amount of product on him. Now, he knows better than to flip, but you know how it goes.

[breathes deeply] Cops start poking around, could broaden the investigation, so the evidence needs to disappear.

So why you coming to me with this? How am I supposed to get it?

From your detective boyfriend, of course.

Sorry. Been waiting long?

No, I just got here myself. I assume you’ve been busy with the, uh–the kidnapping. Any leads on who took Sarah Horton’s baby?

Uh, nothing yet. I was actually gonna put you and Jada on it, but she’s, uh, at Stark’s arraignment this morning.

Yeah, I wish I would have known she was going after the guy alone. I hate that Von Leuschner got the drop on her.

Yeah. You and me both. But Jada’s tough, you know. I actually asked her to take off work this morning, but–

No dice.

Eh, you know Jada.

Anything I can do in the meantime?

Yeah, actually, there is. Uh… yeah, it’s the reason I asked you to lunch. I didn’t want to discuss it down at the station, but, uh… I want you to find out who murdered Li Shin.

Look, EJ had my sister charged with murder. But I don’t believe for a second that she stabbed Li.

I mean, you obviously know your sister better than I do, so… if you believe she’s innocent, I believe you. But isn’t it gonna be a little tricky? Gabi’s prints were the only ones found on the murder weapon, and Li named her as his killer right before he died.

Yeah, I know all that, OK? But you were there. You were at the scene. You saw how much blood was there. I mean, Li was barely conscious. Now, who’s to say he even knew what he was saying when he named my sister? And not to mention the fact that whoever stabbed Li could have been wearing gloves. So that leaves a lot of room for reasonable doubt. There is no reason whatsoever why we can’t continue this investigation on the DL.

Oh, yes, there is.

[light country music]

Are you crazy? You want me to steal Harris’ key to the evidence room?

Just lift it when he’s not looking.

Oh, right, right, and you don’t think he’s gonna notice that it’s missing?

Maybe he will. Maybe he won’t. But that’s not exactly my problem, now, is it? Besides, you could always convince him that he lost it. What? Why are you looking so damn skeptical?

[dramatic music]

Look, I’ve done everything that you’ve asked me to do so far, Gil. But this–look, I can’t involve Harris. I don’t even think this is a good idea. I mean, look, he is a detective. What if he figures out that I’m the one that took it, hmm? That’s gonna lead to all sorts of questions. And then if he starts figuring out what is really going on here, that’s gonna jeopardize the entire operation.

You make a good point.

Yeah.

But I’m still gonna have to go back to Clyde and tell him what I asked you to do and that you refused.

I’ll call Sloan, tell her I’m dropping the suit. No need for Eric to testify.

Wait. You’re really serious about this?

Sarah, I’m completely serious. Honestly, I–

[sighs] I never believed you were an unfit mother. I was just angry that you lied to me about the baby. But… I understand why you did it. I’ve done some terrible things, made some really– really bad decisions. But I know now that I– I can’t fix one bad decision by making another, especially when suing you for custody was never– never really what I wanted.

What is it that you really want?

For the two of us to raise Victoria…together.

I want that too.

Maggie, again, I must apologize. I honestly don’t know what came over me.

There’s no need to apologize. You just made an error in judgment, that’s all. It’s already– it’s already forgotten.

You are so very, very kind. But I’m not sure I deserve that. You just lost your husband, and–and I am trying to take advantage of your grief. What kind of man does that?

Oh. You’re a good man, Konstantin.

No, no, I am disgusted with myself. Not only have I dishonored you, but I have disgraced the memory of your husband. And for that, there is only one way I can make this right. I must leave at once and go back to Greece.

You slept with Alex?

In Greece. Do you remember that night when I wanted to stay with you in your room and you went off on me? Well…

Mm-hmm.

After you left, Alex tried to make me feel better. And he did make me feel better, and we… slept together.

I can’t say that I’m a bit surprised.

Look, I didn’t want anybody to know about this. In fact, Alex and I said that we were gonna keep this between us because he and I are gonna be working together now, and, you know, I don’t really want it out there that I slept with the boss.

No.

[chuckles] Of course not. I can totally understand that.

Good.

One thing, though. If you really want to keep this a secret and you don’t want anyone to know what happened, who were you talking to on the phone, then?

I was talking to my cousin Stephanie. I just had to tell someone, you know, and I knew that I could tell her and that she’d keep it between us. And so I told her everything, and that was her just now, asking me about it and wanting to know if I’d told anyone else.

[dramatic music]

OK. So it was just that one time, then? I mean, you and Alex, you are living together, right?

In separate bedrooms. Yeah, it only happened that one time.

[chuckles]

Why? Why are you so interested, huh? Jealous?

Konstantin, no, there’s no reason for you to leave. Honestly, I don’t want you to. I like having you here.

[sighs] That is so very kind of you, but…

[sighs] I have had the feeling that, uh, I have worn out my welcome.

You think I’m spending too much time with Konstantin? Where is this coming from?

Well, the man was a stranger before Victor died. Now he’s living with us? And also, all these gifts that he’s showering you with, like–

And what’s wrong with that?

I don’t know, Mom. Like, it’s just starting to feel like maybe he wants something in return from you.

So if you will excuse me, I need to pack.

You want us to raise Victoria together too?

I do. Xander… deep down, I’ve always known that you would just be the most wonderful father, you know? But to–to state the obvious– and I know that you have heard it before. But I was just so upset with you for what you had done. I was furious, actually. And the more that people told me to let go of that anger, the more I just wanted to dig my heels in.

[sighs] I’m stubborn.

Really? I–I never noticed that about you.

Oh, like you’re one to let go of grudges.

Fair point.

[chuckles]

I mean, honestly, it’s probably what drew me to you in the first place. I knew you’d be a challenge, knew I’d… truly met my match with you.

I’m the challenge?

Oh, well, call it a draw. I am sorry, Sarah, truly sorry I let it go this far.

I am too.

I don’t know what you’re playing at, Rafe, but you need to drop this immediately. We have made an arrest. And my new DA is prosecuting the case. But if it should get out that the–the brother of the accused is looking for other suspects behind my DA’s back, well, then that will look bad not only for your department but for my office.

Yeah. Madame Mayor, my sincerest apologies. But you, of all people, should understand this. A member of my family has been falsely accused of murder. I need to fix this.

You need to check yourself. That’s what you need to do. No, and are you seriously bringing my personal history into this? Because I don’t think I need to tell you how highly inappropriate that is. You work for me, Commissioner.

Of course. I’m sorry.

[sighs] Now, look, I like you, Rafe. And more than that, I feel for you. But if you don’t drop this, then I’ll just be forced to hire a new commissioner, one who can take orders. Now, I’ve already taken a risk by hiring Commander Michaels at your suggestion, but I don’t want to have to fire the both of you for going behind my back, especially when there’s a new case that needs your attention.

What is it?

Oh, there’s been an increase in drug trafficking recently, and I hear that there’s a new cartel that may be setting up shop somewhere in town. Now, I need both of you– both of you–to focus all your energies on finding out who’s behind it.

[tense music]

And let me tell you, honey, Clyde’s not gonna be happy to hear that I didn’t get that key.

But I thought we just agreed. We don’t want to give Harris any reason to start asking questions.

You’re right. We don’t. But I don’t know if Clyde will see it that way. And of course, it’s my neck on the line. So I’m not gonna have a choice but to tell him that I asked you to get the key and that you refused. And who knows how he’s gonna react? I mean, he–he could be mellow, or, uh, he could ask me to pull the trigger on your son. Although… I might be persuaded not to mention your disobedience to Clyde. That is, uh, if you do a little something for me in return.

Jealous? Jealous of you– you being with Alex? No. No, Theresa, I’m not. My only reaction is that it’s not gonna last between the two of you, I mean, you, given who you are, and he, given who he is. But no, no jealousy.

[sighs] Why would I be?

Mm? You tell me.

[dramatic music]

Everything all right in here?

If this all blows up, you damn well better keep my name out of it.

No one’s going to hear it from me.

[scoffs] Idiot. You get that crazy woman to kidnap the baby so you can get into Maggie’s daughter’s good graces, and then you ruin it all by kissing Maggie. Why would you take such a risk? Although…

[chuckles] It is still possible that this gamble will pay off.

[chuckling]

So how is my gran– oh, I’m sorry. Am I interrupting?

No, no. No, no, you’re not.

I just wanted to see how our little angel was doing.

She’s–she’s great. Uh, never better, actually, because, um… Xander and I have decided to drop the custody case.

What? Are you serious?

Yes, we are.

Yeah, it just– after everything that happened, we– we decided that we should work things out amicably.

Oh, my goodness. Oh, that’s wonderful news. Oh, sweetheart. I–that’s just what I wanted for the both of you. I’m just sorry it took a kidnapping to make it happen.

Yeah, I think we would have preferred to skip that part too.

[laughter]

But it did wake us up, because… all that matters is that Victoria is safe and sound… and home where she belongs, thanks to Konstantin. And there he is. Perfect timing, by the way. We were just talking about you and how grateful we are to you.

Well, that is very kind. I have come to say goodbye. I am leaving Salem.

[light country music]

I’d be happy to lead an investigation into the recent arrests. Last thing that Salem needs is more drugs on our streets.

On that, we agree. OK, um, I’ll be back in touch with you later in the week.

Sounds good.

And, Rafe, this is the last time that I hope I hear about this case against your sister, because I’ve given my final word on the subject.

Yeah.

[sighs]

Yeah. Sorry about that.

No, no. No. She’s right. What I asked you to do was completely against protocol.

That may be. But I feel for you, Rafe. And if you want me to pursue other suspects in Li’s death, I will.

You’re a very attractive woman. You know that? I see you, sashaying around the restaurant. You do that on purpose. I can tell you like the, uh– the attention, right?

OK. That is some craziness right there. I don’t sashay around, and I am not there for your pleasure.

Oh, but you’re there for the good detective’s, right?

Oh, my God, will you just shut up about him?

Oh, yeah, yeah, you got to– you got to defend him.

OK, you know what? Just stop it, Gil. Just stop it right now. Hey!

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. This is not optional.

Stop it!

[yells]

Listen to me, Ava. This doesn’t have to be unpleasant, OK? You and I, we are so alike. This could be really good if you just give us a chance.

OK.

[breathing heavily] OK, OK. You know what? I haven’t thought about it like that.

[dramatic music] Maybe you’re right. You know, maybe we do have more in common than I thought.

Yeah. That’s right. That’s right, baby.

OK. Maybe we can be, uh… more than just business associates.

Exactly. Exactly. Yeah, we can, uh– we can combine business and pleasure, huh? And you know what they say. All work and no play makes Gil a dull boy.

[grunts] You sick bastard. Who’s playing now?

What the hell do you think you’re doing?

Thought it was pretty obvious. I’m making sure that you don’t rape me.

Rape you? What the hell do you think you’re–hey. Hey, I’m not a rapist, OK?

OK. Let me clarify something for you here, Gilly. When you say to a woman that sex with you isn’t optional and then you rip her blouse while she’s trying to run away from you, you are a rapist.

[dramatic music]

Pathetic. So, what, you’re gonna– you’re gonna shoot me now?

I don’t know. Depends on whether you make a move. Why don’t you go ahead? Try me. Test me. See how much I want to blow you away.

You don’t want to do that.

You so sure about that?

Yeah. Yeah, because if you shoot me… your son is dead.

Well, thanks for the offer, Harris. But I can’t ask you to jeopardize your job. Now, if I were to give up my position for my sister, then I’d be happy to pay the price. But not you, OK? I sure as hell can’t jeopardize the entire department.

So what are you gonna do?

Well, I do have a lot of faith in Belle Brady. So, uh, I’m just gonna have to believe in her. I mean, she is more than a capable lawyer, and she has gone up against EJ before, so just gonna have to have faith that she can beat him at his own game.

All right. But if you do change your mind, just say the word.

Oh, thanks, Harris. I appreciate that. But Mayor Price is right. She’s right. It wouldn’t look good if I went behind EJ’s back.

Probably a good call.

And she’s also right about the recent uptick in drugs on the streets of Salem. I mean, we arrested a dealer last night. I’ve got the feeling that there are more out there. So, uh, yeah, you should get on that, start investigating that.

Consider it done.

All right.

Look, Rafe, um, I know you took a chance when you hired me. And I’m gonna do whatever it takes to earn this position.

[light country music]

Uh, yeah. Everything’s fine.

Good, because we need to talk strategy.

Strategy? What about?

Bringing Basic Black under the Titan umbrella. This is huge for us. I want to make sure that we time the rollout perfectly, so–

OK, yes, yes, yes. We–we do need to do that. Unfortunately, I can’t talk about it right now. I’m due in court.

What do you mean you’re due in court? For what?

It’s for Sarah. Um, Justin has asked me to testify on her behalf in Xander’s custody case.

Really? Why you?

Well, among his many transgressions, he also led me to believe that my baby was dead. So a guy like that I don’t think is fit to be a parent.

Yeah, but–

Yeah, but what?

Well, I mean, didn’t Sarah do to Xander the same thing Xander did to you? I mean, if Chloe never accidentally found out the truth, Xander would have never known he had a daughter. He would have lost out on something that was rightfully his.

Mm-hmm. Yeah, that would have been terrible.

[dramatic music]

You’re leaving? Why?

I believe the time has come for me to go.

I tried to convince him to stay, but–

But I told her she has been far too generous already.

[sighs] Well, I must be going.

No, wait, wait. Before any of this happened today, my mom said that she was planning on asking you to stay through Christmas. And, well, actually, I told her that I didn’t think it was a very good idea.

[chuckles] I see. Well, then it is good that I am going.

No, no, no, I’m– I said that because I was– well, I was worried that she was getting too dependent on you.

Which is so silly, of course, since I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself.

I know. I do know that, Mom.

Yeah.

But the truth is, we all depended on you today, and you came through.

You certainly did.

And, you know, seeing as you put yourself at risk for our family, I think asking you to stay for Christmas is really the least we could do.

I completely agree with Sarah. That is, unless you have to get back to Greece to, uh– to your family.

No, there is no reason for me to hurry back. I would be ever so grateful to have the opportunity to stay with you.

Well, that is wonderful. We’re happy to have you.

And I am so very happy to know that… I will be spending the holidays with all of you. And with Victor gone, you are practically the only family I have.

So it’s settled.

Yes, it is. I suppose I must unpack.

OK. Yeah, thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it. Well, looks like I will have time to strategize after all. Justin, uh, said he doesn’t need me to testify today.

What happened?

Apparently Xander just, uh, dropped the custody case.

Seriously?

Why–why would he do that?

It wasn’t for a very good reason. Um, you’re not gonna believe this, but apparently, their baby was kidnapped today.

What?

Yeah, but she was found safe and sound.

Oh, thank God.

Yeah, thank God.

That’s insane. I mean, what kind of wacko maniac steals a newborn baby? Did they at least catch the guy?

No, no. Whoever it was got away.

Man, I hope when they find him, they nail his ass to the wall.

Mm.

[dramatic music]

[sighs] That worked out perfectly.

[knock at door] Oh, come in, come in.

Are you making yourself at home, I hope?

Yes, I am. But–

But? But what?

Well, uh, I am very happy to stay with you through Christmas, as I said. But I am not so sure that this is what you want, Maggie. Perhaps your daughter might have put you on the spot?

No, not at all. I’m delighted you’re here, Konstantin, and that you’re staying. Mm.

[chuckles]

Well, I just got off the phone with Justin. Needless to say, he was surprised.

I’ll bet. Well, I’m glad that we managed to convince Konstantin to stay.

Yeah. I mean, I know there’s bad blood between us, but… after what he did for our daughter today, we–we definitely owe him.

[baby whimpers]

Speaking of our daughter, sounds like someone needs a little attention. Actually, um, would you like to do the honors?

Really?

Yeah, of course. I mean, I know you held her when she was born, but… wouldn’t you like to get a little better acquainted?

Oh, I do, yeah. Hi. Hey. Hey, beautiful Victoria. Hello. Oh. Hi. I’m your dad. And I’m so looking forward to getting to know you. But I already love you with all my heart.

[baby cooing]

[tense music]

I mean it, Gil. Stop it right there, or I will end you.

I don’t think you will.

[knocking]

Hey, Ava. It’s Harris. I know I’m a little early.

[gunshot] Ava! Ava!

[ Relaxing music ]

Ridge: Thank you. Well, uh, I’m pretty sure I know why you called this meeting. Lack of funds for hope for the future and everything being filed into my dad’s line.

Zende: I’m happy for him, that’s great for granddad.

Ridge: Really? But you don’t look happy.

Zende: I am not thrilled about hope for the future being benched, but I understand the reasons.

Ridge: Okay.

Zende: What I don’t understand is why I’m being benched in favor of rj?

Rj: It’s cute how nervous you were last night.

Luna: Anyone would be. Meeting steffy forrester, I mean, the steffy forrester.

Rj: Oh, the– the steffy forrester.

Luna: No, I mean, she’s like my role model, a legend. Thankfully, a very friendly, down to earth one. She made me feel right at home.

Rj: Yeah, because she liked you. You’re very likable, you know?

Luna: You think?

Rj: Oh, yeah.

Luna: I hope so. I mean, I really wanted to make a good first impression.

Rj: You did. You made– you made a great first impression, I’m not gonna lie. She was impressed. But she’s not half as impressed with you as I am.

Sheila: Thank you so very much and we’ll see you again. Welcome to il giardino. My name is sheila.

Bill: Yeah, I know exactly what you are. This whole act you got going here ain’t fooling anyone.

Sheila: [ Laughs ] I– I don’t know whether to be surprised or impressed. A lot of people are boycotting since I came back to work, but not you, bill? You must love the pizza.

Bill: I’m not here to eat.

Sheila: I’d start you with a cocktail, but clearly, you’ve had a few.

Bill: I’m here to put you on notice. Stay away. You will stay away from us. Especially steffy and finn.

Rj: I don’t see why you’re so worried about steffy. Look, she’s– come on, she’s married to your cousin, so she has to like you. She’s obligated.

Luna: No, no, no, in-laws are historically problematic. Like, being finn’s cousin might have worked against me.

Rj: Okay. That’s fair. But when you walked in, you definitely had a secret advantage.

Luna: What?

Rj: Well, my sister took one look at how important you’ve become to me and that just sealed the deal right there.

Luna: You’ve become pretty important to me too.

Rj: I just had a great idea. Did you just watch me have a great idea? Because I have a great idea. I know how we can celebrate the success of last night’s dinner.

Luna: Oh, that sounds fun.How so?

Rj: By having lunch right now. Let’s go, come on. Oh, wait, sorry. Are you available?

Luna: I really want to, but rain check, okay?

Rj: Mm-hmm. I, um– I have plans to meet my mom today.

Sheila: Don’t you have companies to buy and sell? You know, crush the little people?

Bill: What do you think I’m doing here?

Sheila: And yet, I still stand. I am curious, though. Why the vested interest in my relationship with my son?

Bill: I couldn’t care less, quite frankly. Not that I want to see anybody suffer at your hands, but it’s my granddaughter I’m concerned about.

Sheila: Kelly?

Bill: Yeah, kelly. My son’s daughter. I don’t want her mixed up in whatever scheme you got cooking up in that twisted brain of yours.

Sheila: See, the only thing I am cooking up these days, pizza and masalas. And to be more exact, I’m delivering those. And in case you didn’t hear, I saved kelly’s life.

[ Bill scoffing ]

Bill: Oh, yeah, how convenient. You just happened to be there. Stalking your son and my granddaughter. You probably lured her into the ocean with some candy.

Sheila: Oh, my gosh. The gratitude is overwhelming.

Bill: I’ll have gratitude when you’re back in prison. You had something on that judge. You paid him off.

Sheila: Something you’d know a lot about, huh, bill? So, can I get you anything? I hear the meatballs are to die for.

Zende: It feels like I’m being forgotten.

Ridge: How do you even say that? You’re a very important part of the hope for the future team. I don’t know what else to tell you.

Zende: A line we’re not even posting on right now. And honestly, ridge, even when we are, I report to the lead designer, your son. When the opportunity to work with granddad came up, was I even considered or did it just automatically go to your other son? I’m talented. I’ve proven myself and yet, I’m passed over?

Ridge: It may seem that way right now, but listen, this industry is– is always–

Zende: I grew up in the industry too. With extremely successful and talented designers for parents. I am your sister’s son. I don’t know, ridge, maybe that’s the issue. I’m her son, not yours. It feels like you are willing to push aside every other member of this family as long as your kids get to shine.

Rj: Lunch with your mom? That’s great.

Luna: Thank you for being understanding. I– I promise I won’t be out too long.

Rj: What? No, no. Take your time. Seriously. It’s not like we clock in and out around here. No one’ll notice.

Luna: Are you sure?

Rj: Yeah, of course. No, you told me she’s not in town a lot, you’re excited to see her and you should spend as much time as you can with her. Honestly, I was lucky that I got to meet her. She’s– she was a sweetheart. She seems like someone cool to hang out with, too.

Luna: You want to know something?

Rj: What?

Luna: Ever since I was little, sleepovers were always at my house. And all of my friends wish that their moms were as chill as mine.

Rj: Sounds fun.

Luna: Yeah. I had a really fun childhood. I mean, would I have liked a little more structure? Maybe, but I’m not really complaining. I appreciate how free-spirited my mom is.

Rj: Complete opposite of your aunt.

Luna: Oh, shoot, I am so much later than I thought. I have to get going.

Rj: Go. Go, go, go. Just– just say hi for me.

Luna: Will do.

[ Both chuckling ] Luna nozawa, clocking out.

[ Both laughing ]

Ridge: No one’s doubting your talents, zende.

Zende: You’re just, uh, choosing not to tap into it? Seriously, why is rj working with granddad and not me?

Ridge: Dad is dying?

Zende: It’s insulting.

Ridge: How long does he have, do we know? How long does he have? Dying. Dying.

Zende: Rj literally has zero design experience. For you to pick him and not me–

Ridge: I didn’t pick him. My dad picked him. And everything– everything, the way it’s being handled, is the way my dad wants it.

Sheila: Okay, so you came to put me on notice. Message received. But you don’t need to come to harass me at my place of work, when I’m just trying to lead a normal, simple, good life.

Bill: You do understand that being a waitress isn’t going to cleanse your soul or make you wholesome?

Sheila: Why are you really here, dollar bill? Did you miss me?

Bill: Like food poisoning. How deacon could–

Sheila: Oh, wait, wait, wait, that’s it, that’s it. That’s why you’re here. You found out about my relationship with deacon and you wanted to see for yourself?

Bill: You actually believe you could have a long lasting relationship with deacon? For that matter, that any man could ever commit to you?

Sheila: Yeah. We’re taking it slow and we’re gonna see what happens. But things are going really well. And– and I’m happy. And that bothers you, doesn’t it? Especially since things didn’t work out with katie the way that you were hoping, from what I hear. But you know what? You should– you should use this as a positive moment, you know? A– look at it as a time where you can put yourself out there, because from everything you ever told me, you never ever had a problem doing that. So, maybe this is just a– a blessing in disguise.

Luna: Hi, mom.

Poppy: Hi.

Luna: Hi. Hi.

Poppy: How are you, sweetie?

Luna: I’m sorry I kept you waiting.

Poppy: Oh, you’re a hard working forrester intern. I understand. So, how’s it going?

Luna: Mom, I have literally never been happier.

Poppy: Hm. Because you’re working in the fashion industry or because of that handsome young man who also works there.

Zende: Granddad has been one of my biggest supporters from the moment I put pencil to paper years ago. I don’t buy for a second that he would choose to work with rj instead of me.

Ridge: Try not to let it get to you.

Zende: Are you sure you just didn’t convince him that your wayward son needs some direction? Hey, why not toss him a couture line?

Ridge: I didn’t pick rj. My dad did.

Rj: Hey, zende. He’s– he’s right. Granddad reached out to me to help him design.

Sheila: But deacon has taken a liking to me and I to him. He makes me feel worthy of a– of a fresh start and he’s helping me. He’s keeping me on the straight and narrow. Hello? Oh. I get it, of course. You’ve always had an eye for beautiful women. And you’re staring. You just can’t help yourself. So, I am going to let you enjoy the view because you have also pointed out so thoroughly that I have tables to tend to. But let me know if you need anything.

Bill: I need you to disappear, leave town and never come back. And stay the hell away from my family.

Poppy: So, how was dinner with finn?

Luna: It was awesome. It was so good to see my cousin again. And he and his wife were so welcoming.

Poppy: Good. You and finn always did have a special connection.

Luna: And oh, my god. Steffy is even more beautiful in person, it’s crazy.

Poppy: Were you nervous to meet her?

Luna: Oh, I was so nervous. Mom, I don’t think you quite understand how much of a superstar she is in this industry.

Poppy: Oh, no, I get it. I’ve seen her on the cover of those magazines you read.

Luna: No, but you know what the best part is? She is literally so nice. Like there’s nothing arrogant about her, even though she’s this huge fashion icon. I don’t know, I’ve just– I’ve been having a lot of fun getting to know the forrester family. I just– I really admire how loving and close everyone is.

Poppy: Unlike our family?

Luna: No, no, no. I don’t mean it like that. I mean, you’ve been such a great mom to me. Look how close we are. But, you know, I was– I was raised differently. Not in terms of like money, but in terms of people, like having a community. It’s always just been the two of us. And look, I don’t– I don’t want you to think that you were a bad mom, but… sometimes, when I look at rj, it like, makes me realize how lucky he’s been.

Rj: Hey, listen. Zende, I can understand why this seems a little bit strange.

Zende: Strange? Woo, there’s an understatement. Rj, this is beyond strange. It’s offensive. Not only is hope for the future being put on the back burner, which is fine, it happens, I’m a designer at this firm. You’re not. You’ve actually gone out of your way to avoid being a part of all this. So, for you to suddenly be in the spotlight? I– I’m sorry, guys. Am I missing something here?

Ridge: I’m sure my dad had his reasons for what he did and it’s all gonna become clear.

Zende: Clear. I think it’s pretty clear, ridge. The offspring of the mighty ridge forrester get whatever they want, and the rest of us, we got to fend for ourselves.

Ridge: “The rest of us?” What does that mean, exactly? You think this is what thomas wants? Hope for the future on the back burner? Probably not. We had a competition. I lost. This is the world we live in now. My dad is pushing his line and we’re gonna respect that. And we’re gonna support him. That means all of us. Even those who feel slighted.

Zende: This is not about me being slighted.

Ridge: No?

Zende: No. No, it’s not! I love granddad. I support him. He’s taught me everything I know. This is not about respecting him. But this decision to have rj by his side, rj, who has never designed a thing in his life? Who’s been more interested in putting up content and his likes and his followers than he’s ever been in the art of fashion? But let’s pass the torch down anyway. I mean, why should experience matter if the golden child is available? The anointed one. The only son of brooke and ridge forrester.

Poppy: I think the lasagna looks good.

Luna: Lasagna? I want more of like a pasta.

[ Indistinct chatter ]

Poppy: So, tell me more about last night.

Poppy: Ah, well, the food was delicious, and you might think that they have like, a live-in chef, right? But no, they order take out just like everyone else. Well, obviously, the best part was getting to see finn. I mean, it’s been such a long time, but that connection that you mentioned, it was definitely still there. As strong as ever. Yeah, it’s just– it’s really sad that aunt li did everything she could to keep us apart.

Poppy: It is. And I wish things could have been different. But my sister is who she is. She has a difficult personality. It drives people away. People who love her.

Bill: Uh, excuse me.

Poppy: Yes?

Bill: I couldn’t help but notice you from across the restaurant.

Poppy: That’s sweet, but I’m having lunch with my daughter.

Bill: Oh, no, no, no. I’m not, uh– you– you just look really familiar to me. Do we know each other?

Ridge: Hey, zende, you know this is not about me propping up my kids. It’s not a conspiracy.

>Zende: All right, yeah, it just happens that thomas is the lead designer of hope for the future, and rj gets plucked out of nowhere to partner up with grandad.

Ridge: What are you doing? This is us. We’re a family. It’s a family business.

Zende: It’s a family business that rj never wanted to be a part of. He was too wrapped up in his online presence. Being an influencer. Being influential. Getting his validation from his likes and his followers. Jet setting around the world. Isn’t that what you wanted?

Rj: Yeah, but then, now I– I want to do–

Zende: Do what? This? You just want to do this. You want to just come in here and be a fashion designer. Working with my granddad on his couture line, huh?

Rj: He’s my granddad too, zende.

Zende: Right, right. But you’re not being lost in the shuffle, I am. It is not my fault that my mother is no longer part of the family business. She’s not here to lobby for me. To stick up for me like your dad does for you. So, I gotta stick up for myself. And that is exactly what I intend to do.

Rj: Zende.

Ridge: Don’t let him get to you.

Rj: Dad, maybe it’s just time to tell him. Maybe it’s time to tell everybody.

Ridge: I don’t think so. I told steffy, then thomas, and I just, um– I don’t think it was right. Dad wants to play this his way. I gotta respect that.

Rj: I respect that too, but if zende’s gonna act like this–

Ridge: He’ll understand.

Rj: When? When is he gonna understand? When granddad’s already passed on? And then he’s gonna realize that this massive chip on his shoulder was completely misguided? That’s not fair him. That’s not fair at all.

Ridge: None of this is fair, son.

Rj: We shouldn’t be losing him. He has a lot to teach us. I’m not ready for this. I can’t do this, dad. I’m not ready to have my last conversation with him. I’m not– I’m not ready to– to say goodbye to him. I’m not ready for him to die. This isn’t–

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

B&B logo

Recap written by Suzanne

Zende and Ridge have a meeting. Zende isn’t thrilled about Hope For the Future getting budget cuts, due to Eric’s extra line. He’s even less thrilled that RJ, who had no design experience, worked on Eric’s line. Ridge tells him that was Eric’s call.

RJ and Luna talk about Steffy and how they had a great time visiting her and Finn last night. Luna leaves to have lunch with her mom.  RJ goes by Ridge’s office,  so he tells Zende that it’s true that Eric picked him. This doesn’t make Zende feel any better. He yells some more. Ridge yells back at him a little and then storms out. RJ thinks they should tell him about Eric, but Ridge is against it. He feels it was a mistake to tell Thomas and Steffy. RJ cries about how he’s not ready to lose his grandad, so he and Ridge embrace.
Bill goes to Il Giardino and gives Sheila a hard time, warning her not to come near his family. She tells him what she’s been telling everyone about how she’s changed, and they give each other grief.  Then she can tell that he’s distracted after Poppy arrives to meet Luna.  Poppy and Luna catch up and Bill keeps staring at them.  Later, Bill goes over to them and ask Poppy if he knows her because she looks very familiar.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Chad walks through the town square and makes a phone call, saying he knows he’s the last person they expected to hear from, but he needs their help. It is revealed that Chad called Gwen, who is in Alamainia. Gwen responds that Chad must be really desperate if he’s calling her since he hates her. Chad states that hate is a strong word. Gwen says this must be a really big ask and what he needs. Chad responds that he wants something that only she can give him.

Stephanie questions Everett saying that she really gets around. Everett apologizes and calls it a stupid blurt as he didn’t mean for it to sound disparaging. Everett guesses it’s just weird for him to hear about her dating other people. Stephanie reminds him that she thought he ghosted her. Everett blames the coma. Stephanie says she’s very sorry that happened to him and she’s relieved that he’s okay. Everett wishes he was okay before she started dating all these other guys. Stephanie tells him that her relationship with Alex was very brief and not that serious. Everett questions why that is since Alex is an attractive guy with an inheritance so he’s a catch. Everett then asks Stephanie why she dumped Alex.

Alex is on a call at Titan, saying that Maggie is not in charge anymore so he wants to see the sales figures for the last six months of Bella Magazine and mentions hiring Theresa Donovan so he wants to set revenue goals. Brady arrives and tells Alex that he came to accept his offer to bring Basic Black to Titan if he’s still interested. Alex assures that he is as they hug.

Xander finds Sarah at the hospital and says he knows what she’s up to as he questions what she’s trying to pull now. Sarah notes that he sounds upset. Xander confirms that he is as he just found out she’s calling Brady to testify against him in court. Sarah asks if Xander can call Eric to testify, why can’t she call Eric’s brother. Sarah then tells Xander that he should know that she will do anything to protect her daughter.

Theresa sneaks in to the Kiriakis Mansion to join Konstantin in the living room. Theresa doesn’t think this is a good idea but Konstantin doesn’t care. Konstantin tells Theresa that she made her bed and now she knows what she has to do. Konstantin then instructs Theresa to take baby Victoria. Theresa questions taking her where. Konstantin tells her somewhere that Sarah can’t find her. Theresa argues that there has to be a better way because she doesn’t steal babies, especially not Maggie’s granddaughter. Konstantin pulls out his phone and threatens to call Alex to tell him that Theresa has been lying to him. Theresa stops him and tells him not to make that call. Konstantin asks if she can kidnap a kid then. Theresa comments on Konstantin just wanting his hands on Maggie’s money. Konstantin complains about Victor leaving him out of his will and feels he’s now taking what he deserves. Konstantin says he’s not going back to Greece empty-handed and he must win Maggie over. Theresa questions how he will win her over by stealing Sarah’s baby. Konstantin tells Theresa to just play her part and then Alex will never find out the truth that he is not Victor’s son and that Xander is.

Xander argues that Victoria is not just Sarah’s daughter, she’s their daughter. Sarah regrets making her with him. Sarah says that Xander will get to spin his side of things by dragging Eric in to court which will open the door for Brady to talk about Xander’s behavior towards his family and all the misery he has caused in Salem. Sarah says if he thinks he has a case to make her look like an unfit parent, he can wait until the judge gets a load of him.

Chad tells Gwen that he knows he judged her harshly for what she did to Abigail and what she did to his family was personal but this call is strictly business. Gwen says she’s listening. Chad mentions hearing she hasn’t had the best luck squeezing money out of the Von Leuschners. Gwen says it’s an ongoing enterprise. Chad guesses she could use some cash and declares that he’s willing to give her a whole stack of it in exchange for her half of the Spectator.

Stephanie thought Everett said it was weird to hear about her dating other people, so she questions why he’s asking about her relationship with Alex. Stephanie jokes that he must be trying to take over Leo’s column. Everett says it’s strictly off the record and it may be hard to hear about her dating other guys, but admits part of him is curious about what her life has been like since they parted ways. Stephanie gives in and tells Everett that she only got involved with Alex because Everett had disappeared and she was desperate to feel wanted and desirable. Stephanie notes that they didn’t last very long because Alex was a player and when she decided they were done, he had a little trouble letting go. Everett asks if that’s why Alex was saying Chad was jealous. Stephanie admits it was really awkward for awhile. Everett asks if that’s how it is now with them. Stephanie doesn’t want to go there but Everett says it’s obvious that Chad was threatened by Alex’s inability to let go, so maybe that’s how Chad perceives him now. Everett adds that unlike Stephanie and Alex, they were seriously involved so he has to assume that Chad is even more threatened by him.

Gwen doesn’t get why Chad would approach her to buy part of the Spectator when Xander is local to him. Chad says he has his reasons. Gwen guesses that Xander turned him down. Chad asks Gwen for her price. Gwen says she’s not there yet since she stabbed her father in the back to get her stake in the Spectator, so just selling it for quick cash is like adding insult to injury. Chad points out that she could tell Jack that she’s selling to Abigail’s husband. Gwen asks if this is about honoring Abigail’s legacy. Chad says that’s part of it. Gwen questions there being more which Chad confirms. Chad explains that the offers has more to do with the new editor-in-chief.

Stephanie tells Everett that he said he didn’t want her to be uncomfortable but then he keeps bringing up Chad and how he’s jealous or threatened. Everett says he’s just concerned about her because there seems to be a pattern of possessive behavior with Chad that she is not willing to acknowledge. Everett says he doesn’t want to make things harder for her but sometimes, it can be helpful to get an outsider’s objective point of view. Stephanie mocks the idea of him being objective. Everett admits he may be a tiny bit biased, but he cares about her and might have insights that are worthwhile for her to hear. Stephanie agrees to hear them but bets that she’s way off base.

Xander argues with Sarah that what happened with he and Brady is irrelevant to their case. Sarah argues that Xander trying to pass off Brady and Kristen’s baby as hers is very relevant, shows his lack of character, and was a crime. Xander knows she’ll never understand that he did that to spare her the pain of losing a child. Sarah remarks that now he’s here to cause her that same pain again. Xander calls it a totally different situation. Sarah complains that there’s always rationalizing with him and why he does the worst things, but he let Brady believe that his baby was dead and let him grieve. Sarah declares that once the judge hears all this, there is no way that Xander or his lawyer will be able to convince anyone that he should be anywhere near their child.

Brady tells Alex that he’s glad the offer still stands. Alex talks about Brady being kind enough to bring him on board with Basic Black when Maggie cut him loose, so he feels he kind of owes it to him. Alex adds that there may be one issue as he reveals that he put Theresa in charge of Bella Magazine and asks if that’s going to be a problem for Brady.

Theresa picks up baby Victoria and hopes by the time she wakes up, this nightmare will be over. Maggie returns and sees her from behind, questioning what she is doing. Theresa then runs out of the mansion with the baby. Maggie looks down and sees Konstantin on the floor. Konstantin pretends to wake up and asks what happened. Maggie shouts that someone just took her granddaughter and questions who would do such a thing.

Gwen assumes Chad considers Everett a problem which Chad confirms. Chad explains that he recently moved to Salem and he’s also Stephanie’s ex. Chad notes that Everett swears they are old news but he just hired her to do PR for the paper. Gwen guesses that Chad wants Everett out of the way. Chad responds that he’s willing to pay a whole lot of money to make sure that he is. Chad states that now Gwen knows his motivation and asks if they can make a deal.

Everett tells Stephanie that he would like to say he’s not trying to insult Chad at all, he just thinks Chad is being unfair by asking her to be patient with him while he sorts out his feelings for his late wife, when he’s the one who asked her to move in with him and his kids while at the same time, having an issue with Stephanie being friends with her exes. Everett feels it’s the Chad show and all about his dead wife and his problems with the other men in her life. Everett argues that they both know to have a healthy relationship, there has to be a take and give which he says their relationship had. Everett declares that in this relationship, she’s doing all the giving and Chad is doing all the taking. Stephanie tells Everett that he’s wrong. Everett asks if she’s really sure about that.

Brady questions Alex putting Theresa in charge of Bella, arguing that he can’t trust her. Alex says he knows her reputation but feels he needs someone like her on his team. Brady guesses he’s looking for an ally. Brady tells Alex that if you turn your back on Theresa for a second, you’re at your own peril.

Maggie helps Konstantin up as he claims he was hit in the back of the head. Maggie says she didn’t see their face. Konstantin tells Maggie to call for help while he goes after them. Maggie argues that he’s in no condition but Konstantin says not to worry about him as he exits.

Sarah tells Xander that Brady can tell the judge about the time Xander shot him and also about Xander kidnapping Nicole and Holly. Sarah then gets a call from Maggie, who tells her that Victoria is gone. Sarah asks what she means. Maggie explains that she came in to the study and someone was taking her and that Konstantin went after them. Sarah tells Maggie to call police and says she’s on her way as she hangs up. Sarah then stops and accuses Xander of doing this which he questions. Sarah tells Xander that Victoria is gone and accuses Xander of setting it up so that she looks like an unfit mother. Xander insists that he didn’t and calls that insane. Xander tells Sarah that she can hate him but they have to get to the house as their daughter needs them. Sarah agrees and they rush out of the hospital together.

Gwen tells Chad that if he called her yesterday, she would’ve told him that the Spectator was her link to her father and Salem and she would never consider severing that link, but this morning, she read an article by Everett about the romance between Leo and Dimitri. Chad guesses it didn’t move her. Gwen says she lost her lunch over it and remarks that Everett is a skilled writer to portray Leo in such a positive light. Gwen states that the timing works in Chad’s favor. Gwen tells Chad to make her an offer that isn’t insulting and the Spectator will be his.

Everett tells Stephanie that he’s glad to be wrong in this case. She asks if he’s sure. Everett says he’d much prefer to think her relationship with Chad is making her happy. Stephanie responds that she likes talking to Everett, but she doesn’t want their talks to always go down the hole of what’s not working in her relationship with Chad because that’s not fair to him. Stephanie calls Chad an amazing guy and says no relationship is just black and white. Stephanie adds that Everett has only been hearing about the bad stuff when she vents. Chad then walks in and questions what she’s venting about.

Sarah and Xander go to the Kiriakis Mansion and ask Maggie about what happened. Maggie explains that when she came back, Konstantin was unconscious on the floor while someone in a hoodie was taking Victoria but she doesn’t know who as she never saw their face. Maggie adds that they must have been strong enough to knock out Konstantin with the fireplace poker. Maggie blames herself and says she should’ve never left the room and waited until Sarah got back to bring flowers to Victor, then maybe this horrible person wouldn’t have gotten away. Sarah starts to cry as Xander goes over and hugs her. Sarah questions who would take their little girl.

Alex thinks Brady might be exaggerating a little bit. Brady thinks he’s understating if anything and can’t believe he isn’t getting through to Alex on this. Brady stops and questions if Alex is in love with Theresa. Alex says no and insists they are just friends. Brady suggests that Alex keep a close eye on his friend. Alex assures that he can handle himself. Brady adds that it’s not just about Alex anymore as he’s Victor’s heir and the face of the company now. Brady warns that if Alex decides to get in bed with Theresa, that increases her ability to wreak havoc on a whole new level.

Theresa sits in the park with baby Victoria, promising that she’ll be home soon. Theresa talks about it being a beautiful day and how she used to take Tate to the park. Konstantin rushes up to her and says he needs the baby now. Theresa calls him a sick son of a bitch while he calls her the monster who kidnapped Sarah’s baby. Theresa argues that it’s only so Konstantin can reap the benefits of returning her. Konstantin demands the baby. Theresa remarks that the baby is just a prop in Konstantin’s scheme to get Maggie’s money. Konstantin argues that they each have their own cash cow to milk as he demands the baby be handed over. Theresa then slowly hands over baby Victoria. Konstantin declares that he needs one more thing and asks Theresa to punch him in the face so that it looks like he fought to get the baby back which she then does.

Stephanie jokingly asks Chad what she doesn’t vent about. Chad doubts anything she could do could drive Everett away. Everett talks about Stephanie being a great person and an extremely gifted publicist, noting how she spun things to make Leo a positive character. Everett admits PR is not his thing which is why he has Stephanie on his team. Everett remarks that he hopes Chad doesn’t mind him stealing Stephanie away to do some work for her.

Brady guesses everything he said about Theresa fell on deaf ears. Alex says he listened and appreciates Brady looking out for him. Brady understands finding things out the hard way and tells Alex not to come crying to him when Theresa screws him over and makes his life miserable. Theresa then appears at the office and asks if someone said her name.

Maggie questions why the police aren’t here yet as Sarah cries that she doesn’t understand this and questions where her daughter is or if someone hurt her. Xander promises that she will be alright and he will see to it that their daughter is brought home safely. Xander decides he’s going to make good on his promise. Konstantin then returns with baby Victoria and says the child needs her mother as he brings her back to Sarah.

Brady tells Theresa that if she came in earlier, she would’ve heard more than just her name. Alex says he’s very glad they are both there and informs Theresa that Brady is bringing Basic Black back to Titan. Alex notes that there will be a lot of overlapping with Bella, so he will need them to play nice and asks if that can happen. Theresa says she doesn’t mind working with anyone. Brady says the same, pointing out that if they can co-parent a teenager, they can make this happen. Alex is glad and says he will get the lawyers to make things official, adding that Theresa has a file on his desk for HR. Alex jokes that he knows they are both excited to get to work together. Alex then takes Brady out of the office. Theresa complains about Konstantin and remarks that the baby better be home and safe with her mother.

Xander finishes a call with the police and says they will be sending detectives over to get statements, especially Konstantin’s. Konstantin claims it all happened so fast that he doesn’t know how much help he will be and that he didn’t get a good look at their face. Sarah points out that he chased the person and caught them. Maggie asks what they wanted and why they came here. Konstantin responds that they wanted to ransom her granddaughter. He says he doesn’t want to frighten her but notes that as Victor’s widow, she’s a target and needs to increase her security which she agrees to do. Maggie insists that she’s taking Konstantin upstairs to treat his wounds. Xander tells Konstantin that they will never be friends, but he’s grateful that he saved their little girl. Sarah adds that she is too. Sarah declares that she’ll never forget that he brought Victoria back to them as she hugs Konstantin.

Chad thanks Everett for asking him how he feels about him working with Stephanie. Chad admits he didn’t react that well at first but he thinks Stephanie is a total pro and he’s lucky to have her. Stephanie thanks him for saying that. Chad admits that he was annoyed by trying to turn Leo in to a folk hero but says that must be how good he is and that he’ll be good for the paper. Chad adds that it means a lot to him because the Spectator is really important to him and his family. Everett says he appreciates Chad being cool with all of this. Chad states that it’s just about boundaries which three adults should be able to understand. Chad asks if they understand each other. Everett shakes his hand and says definitely.

Theresa calls Konstantin and it goes straight to voicemail. She leaves a message, saying she’s calling to make sure that he took Victoria safely back to Sarah and that if the whole thing blows up, he damn well better keep her name out of it right as Brady appears in the doorway.

Maggie takes care of Konstantin and says she wanted to show his appreciation for the man who saved her granddaughter, calling him a hero. Maggie points out that he didn’t stop for a second to think about himself and then brought back Victoria. Maggie doesn’t know where to begin to thank him. Konstantin says she has welcomed him in to her home which is more than enough. Maggie says the way Konstantin has watched over them, he’s been like an angel sent from Heaven. Konstantin then grabs Maggie and kisses her.

Sarah tells Xander that she never felt more helpless in her life, then Konstantin walked in with their daughter in his arms. Xander calls it a miracle. Xander then gets a text from Sloan that they are due in court soon. Sarah admits she totally forgot and asks how she can leave her daughter now or think about any of that stuff. Sarah declares that they have to postpone again as there is no other way. Xander asks what if he just drops the case?

Days Nitpicks & Flubs For The Week Of November 13, 2023

Nitpicks & Flubs

by Michele & Cheryl

EJ from Days

Monday

EJ didn’t think to check Nicole’s location to find her, but Eric conveniently used it to find her.

Leo volunteered Dimitri to take Nicole’s baby to the hospital. That didn’t make sense because he is the one the police were after. Leo should have taken the baby to the hospital.

Dimitri conveniently heard Rafe talking about coming after him.

Speaking of Dimitri, he saw Rafe and EJ, but they didn’t see him holding a baby at the hospital.

How did Dimitri know where Sloan lives? He showed up at her place with Nicole’s baby, but he shouldn’t know where she lives.

Tuesday

Nicole didn’t have any bruises on her face after her car accident.

Nicole’s baby wasn’t checked out after she gave birth to him. Melinda and Sloan took their time getting him to the hospital.

Wednesday

Nicole cried without any tears.

Dr. Pierce was able to walk around the hospital wearing a medical jacket without anyone noticing.

How did Dr. Pierce find Nicole’s room without anyone getting suspicious of him?

EJ cried without any tears.

Thursday

Sarah had to rush to work, but she talked about Konstantin with Maggie.

Who would have told Chad that Dimitri’s family didn’t want to give her the money?

Friday

Maggie didn’t watch Victoria and made it easy for Theresa to kidnap her.

Days Opinions For The Week Of November 13, 2023

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Leo Dimitri and Nicole from Days

Nicole got into an accident with Dimitri and Leo

The week got off to an electrifying start. Dimitri raced to get to the submarine and ran Nicole off the road. The accident happened in true soap style. Nicole veered off the road and went into labor. Leo helped her when she went into labor. We will get into that later. The point of this opinion is to talk about the convenience of the accident. Eric had to be the one to find Nicole on the road. He acted as if he was the only one who cared about Nicole’s well-being. EJ is her husband, but he showed up after Eric. We know the writers love pushing the idea of Eric and Nicole down our throats, but we aren’t buying it. We prefer seeing Nicole with EJ, but we know we are members of an unpopular club. The writers want us to think eric and Nicole are meant to be together, but they had their chances. They got together multiple times and didn’t work out so what’s different this time? Nicole always wants who she doesn’t have so she will go after someone else if she does get together with Eric.

Leo showed he had a decent side to him

If we didn’t see it, we wouldn’t believe it. Leo showed a different side. Normally he’s just a caricature, but he showed his decent side. Dimitri ran Nicole off the road. Dimitri wanted to keep going, but Leo stopped him. He wanted to help Nicole. Nicole asked him to stay with her and deliver her baby. He did it. Leo stayed with her while Dimitri took the baby to the hospital. He could have left her there to die, but he didn’t want to do that. Leo proved that he’s more than just jokes. He had a human side to him. It was nice to see because we don’t get a chance to see it often. We applaud the writers for giving Leo a human side instead of always making him clown around. He made jokes, but he showed he had a heart.

Melinda became the fall guy for the story

The writers clearly hate Melinda’s character. They do anything they can to write her in a bad way. She talked Sloan into keeping the truth about the baby from Eric. Sloan was the reason why they couldn’t adopt the boy. Melinda told her not to say anything. She wanted her to give her a chance to get another baby. Sloan claimed she wanted to tell the truth, but she allowed Melinda to talk her into keeping the secret. Dimitri showed up at Sloan’s place while Melinda was there. He brought Nicole’s baby to the apartment. Melinda wanted Sloan to adopt the baby. Sloan argued with her for a few minutes and caved. Sloan is responsible for keeping the truth hidden from Eric even though Melissa told her to do it. Sloan is a grown woman and didn’t have to go along with Melinda’s plan. When Eric finds out the truth, he’s not going to be mad at Melinda. He’s going to dump Sloan.

We were disgusted with Melinda. She didn’t get a chance to raise her daughter so why would she do that to another woman? She should have been the one talking Sloan out of taking the baby. Melinda didn’t have to take the baby. She will lose everything once the truth comes out. The writers will have to get rid of her character because there’s nothing left to do with her. Sloan will have to leave too. She won’t be coming back from this scheme. We know that she’s getting exposed because that always happens. The baby will need something from the biological parents and Sloan will be screwed. The writers enjoy butchering Melinda. Sloan is the villain in the story and making Melinda take the fall for Sloan’s scheme won’t change our minds.

Konstantin’s plan for Maggie

Konstantin came up with a new plan to win Maggie over. He overheard Sarah badmouthing him and wanted to do something to get back in Maggie’s good graces. Konstantin decided to take Sarah’s baby so he could look like a hero. Maggie would be grateful for saving her granddaughter. The plan couldn’t work without help. Theresa had to get involved in the plan. Konstantin made her kidnap Sarah’s baby. He thought Sarah and Maggie would pay him for saving the baby. Theresa fought him down and eventually changed her mind. She took the baby and left the mansion. We were shocked watching Maggie tend to Konstantin instead of going after Theresa. She would have caught Theresa if she went after her. Theresa loved Maggie so much and didn’t want to do it. She allowed him to blackmail her to help him. He planned on telling Alex the truth about his paternity if she didn’t do what he said. She got herself in deep trouble going along with him. Theresa is going to lose everything because she feels the need to keep working with Konstantin.

Chad, Stephanie, and Everett Triangle

We can’t stress enough that this storyline is the weakest one on the show. The writers want us to root for Stephanie to hook up with anyone at this point. They expect us to think she’s so desirable that every available man in Salem wants her. Everett is conveniently an ex-boyfriend of Stephanie’s, and he wants her. Is anyone surprised by that? He hired her to work with him at the newspaper. Chad didn’t like it and confronted Stephanie about it. He felt like she was trying to get him to marry her. She had the nerve to think there was nothing wrong with Everett getting involved in their lives. She enjoys the attention she gets from any man who looks her way. Stephanie would deserve it if Chad broke up with her. He decided to buy Gwen out of the paper so he could be Everett’s boss. We don’t see the point in this plan. He shouldn’t waste time with Stephanie anymore since she enjoyed Everett flirting with her. This storyline ruined a decent week. The triangle doesn’t hold our interest because we don’t know Everett so there’s no rooting value there. We’re not excited about this storyline at all because there’s no movement.

Ashley: Mm. I have so much respect for you. You’re so good at that. You’re so good at balancing your work life and your home life. I mean, I’m just not good at it, Mamie.

Mamie: You know, I didn’t know that much about tucker McCall, other than that he was Katherine chancellor’s son. I know that jack didn’t like him very much. I just never understood why.

Ashley: Well, Jack’s just being Jack and protective of me and Jabot, and I’m not sure in what order.

Mamie: Oh, now, now. Jack adores you.

Ashley: Oh, I know. I like him, too, most of the time.

******************

Kyle: Tucker. Tucker. Tucker. You’re making a big mistake.

Tucker: It’s not a mistake, son. It’s self-preservation, pure and simple.

Kyle: First of all, I’m not your son. And second, if you believe I have any professional allegiance to my father, then you haven’t been listening. He hasn’t shown me any, so why would I be loyal to him?

Tucker: Because he’s your father, and he’s given you everything you have, and I’m not sure I believe that you’d be willing to just blow that up when the time comes.

Kyle: Watch me light a match

Ashley: Please don’t. I can’t take the small talk.

Tucker: Okay. Well, you have rejected every effort I’ve made to reconnect and talk things out so far, so I assume you must have something very pertinent and, uh, important on your mind.

Ashley: I think it’s important, yeah.

Tucker: Well, don’t tell me, let me guess. You’d like to know what nefarious scheme I have plotted against your family, right? I can clear that up for you right now. None. And I made that clear to jack as well.

Ashley: Okay.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: I hope it’s true.

Tucker: So, are you here to try to chase me out of town? Jack and Billy already tried and failed. Pathetically, I might add.

Ashley: Um, why don’t you just shut up and I’ll tell you why I’m here tucker.

Tucker: Oh, yes, ma’am.

********************

Tucker: Yeah, I wish I could believe your apology, but unfortunately, I don’T.

Ashley: I didn’t think it was gonna be easy.

Tucker: That’s the problem. It seems a little too easy. You want some coffee?

Ashley: Sure. I’d love a cup.

Tucker: Because, uh, I texted you recently and I asked you if there was any way back from where we are and you responded with a very emphatic no. So, what happened? Did you have some kind of change of heart over boston or cincinnati on the flight home?

Ashley: Not really a change of heart. Maybe I just started listening to my heart.

Tucker: Oh, yeah. Wouldn’t that be peachy? Except I see right through you, Ashley. You’re hoping I will let my guard down.

Ashley: Yeah, well, jack said you were gonna react like this.

Tucker: Jack said? Ha. Oh, you gotta love the irony.

Ashley: Yeah. Actually, I don’t love anything about this. Not even a little bit. It’s a struggle.

Tucker: Okay. Well, just for kicks, let’s pretend I did believe your apology. What would this I’m sorry of yours actually look like?

Nikki: Your father seems to think someone is scheming against him and they’re going to betray him soon and this is his idea of how to trick them into revealing themselves.

Victoria: Me though? He suspects me? I mean, how could he think I would stoop so low to use his mental struggles against him? Just because he demoted me? I mean, does he think that little of me, mom?

Nikki: No, of course not. He adores you. He adores both of you. Never doubt that.

Victoria: Well, then I just don’t understand.

Nikki: Well, personally, I think this is all Adam’s fault. After years of being double-crossed by his own son, victor now wonders if he can trust anybody he’s close to.

Victoria: That might be true, but it’s not an excuse. And I’m not sure that I can forgive him.

*****************

Nick: You know what, it doesn’t really matter how we handle the situation. The bottom line is when you find out someone you love is faking a decline in order to expose a traitor, it’s not an everyday occurrence. I think we all reacted accordingly.

Nikki: True.

Nick: So let’s not dwell on the previous rotten weeks. What is important is what we do going forward.

Nikki: If we could only figure out what that is.

Victoria: Actually, Nick has an idea that might help move things along.

Nikki: Oh, I’d love to hear it

Nick: Simple. We just go along with it. We act like we’re buying dad’s condition, while dad continues to set his trap. Hopefully, Adam walks right into it.

Nikki: Or Nate.

Sally: No, don’t get me wrong. I was right there too. I just– it would be very easy to just blame it all on you, but the truth is you were just being honest with me about where your heart is. It’s just not what I wanted to hear.

Adam: Well, it wouldn’t be the first time that I, uh, I didn’t read the room.

Sally: I think the kiss confused us both.

Adam: Yeah. Maybe. I don’t know. Maybe it was just me doing what I always do. Bulldozing my way through without any regard whatsoever for what you really wanted, which was nick. You know, you had a right to be resistant. I poison whatever it is I touch.

Sally: Adam.

Adam: No, it’s– it’s the truth. You know, sometimes I think that I’m just cursed to be this– this catalyst of bad fortune. And it’s not that I try to be, but sometimes I just always end up in the middle of it. With my career, my relationship, family. Even when I have good intentions and god knows I have not always had them, I just always manage to screw it up. With you, my father.

******************

Adam: You know, you’re really good at this.

Sally: What?

Adam: Pep talks. I’m sure when you get your new company off the ground, you’re gonna be an inspiring boss.

Sally: Thank you.

Adam: Mm-hmm. I know that you inspire me.

Sally: So, are you gonna do it?

Adam: You’re forgetting one thing, big thing, in between me and Nick.

Sally: No, I’m definitely not forgetting it. And I do know that I am part of the conflict between the two of you, but this is way bigger than that too. And Nick will eventually see that if you tell him what you just told me.

Would you like your position as deputy mayor to be a permanent one? Felicia: I just spoke with your insurance company and resolved the dispute regarding your policy. Your insurance will cover the mri. They’re emailing the approval over as we speak. Thank you for helping me. You’re very welcome. Did mac send you to spy on me? Here on my own. Oh. Well, perfect timing. I’m due for a break. What brings you by? I need your help. I’m glad you’re here. Come in. You need to see this for yourself. Oh, wow. Yeah. Okay. I may have gone overboard. You think? You’re lucky I don’t have allergies. These all arrived within the past hour. This smell is all the way out into the hallway, josslyn. Yeah. Well, I mean, don’t get me wrong. They’re beautiful, but unfortunately, trina isn’t here to see them. How are you doing down here, son? Not too bad, dad. You got dinner smelling good in there. It’ll be ready in about a half an hour. Good, ’cause I have worked up quite the appetite. You increased your reps twice this week. You’re not pushing yourself too hard, are you?

[ Exhales sharply ] You want to take this one? Where’s mom? Well, she’s taking her chief of staff job seriously, so she’s working late. Dinner’s almost ready. Give me a half-hour, I’ll have the table set. It smells great, but I’m not hungry. I’m going to my room. Trina? Honey, you want to tell me what’s going on? No. You know we didn’t have to come here to see my mom. We could have just called her. Just come inside. Let’s go.

[ Mid-tempo music playing ] Hey, guys! Where are the kids? Melanie is watching them for us. Date night? Okay. What do you want? Chili? Burgers? Well, willow actually insisted that we come by to see you. Said you have something to tell me. So, what’s, uh — what’s going on, mom? Oh. Nina offered to sell me back my half of the metro court. Nina: Hey, trish. Trish: Hi. You know, we have a large party coming in tomorrow night. Can you just make sure that they get two bottles of our best red wine? Will do. Okay. Thank you so much. Great. Hey. Hi, handsome. Hi. Thank you for breaking away to have a late dinner with me. Grab us two menus. Of course. Thank you. I thought I’d take full advantage of the metro court while you’re still co-owner. Why did you decide to sell your half back to carly? Yeah, I need everything from the charlotte cassadine shooting on halloween night. Yeah, csi reports, pictures, police officer statements from the scene, forensic evidence, everything. I want it all. Thank you.

[ Knock on door ] Yeah? Excuse me, detective. There’s a guy out here demanding to see you. He says it’s urgent. Who is it? Dr. Gatlin-holt? Yeah, send him in. I’m here to give you what you want.

Before you answer, let me just thank you for helping me and also thank you for your service to the city of port charles. You really did an excellent job while I was away looking for my son. And since I’ve been back, too. I just feel… I feel bad that you had to step in for me. Oh, well, you had some crazy circumstances thrown at you. Your granddaughter was shot and your son was missing. I would have done the same thing. How is charlotte? Physically, she’s on the mend, but emotionally, I think it’s going to take a little while for us to figure out what is really going on with her. Which is actually why I was hoping that maybe you’d want to stay on as deputy mayor. There’s no one I trust more. Well, I appreciate the vote of confidence, but this isn’t an easy decision to make. As you know, I’ve spent my life in law enforcement, and I feel that there’s still a lot of good I can do for the community.

[ Knock on door ] I’m so sorry, jordan. Come in! Does the mayor have a moment for her brother? Please have a seat. I got to say, I expected to see you here. Really? I’m completely shocked that I’m here. But now that I am here, I guess maybe we could just get this over with as quick as we can. That would be great. Sure. So you’re ready to name the person you’re working for and testify against him? Oh, no, no, no, I didn’t say anything about testifying. You need to keep my name out of this. I need complete anonymity, detective. Look, I don’t know what you think this is, but I’m not the invader. I’m not a journalist for the invader. You’re already being looked at as a person of interest in the kidnapping of ava jerome. And now you’re the one that they’re looking at as possibly killing gordon stevens. I didn’t kill gordon stevens. Okay, so… this keeps going the way it’s going, you’re gonna be considered an official suspect. So if you want to produce something in exchange for leniency, now is the time.

[ Recorder beeps ] What did you want my help with? Is it anna? Pretty as well as smart. Yeah. Have you heard from her? Well, we spoke briefly on the phone, and I’ve been sending her texts to check in. And she always responds, but we haven’t actually talked since anna shot charlotte cassadine. Well, you’ve had more contact than I’ve had. She hasn’t responded to any of my calls. I get this wacky text here — “reach out when I can.” I mean, if I didn’t know better, I’d say she was hiding from me. I’m pretty sure she is. I’m sorry. I didn’t — I didn’t mean to be rude. It’s okay, honey. If there’s something bothering you, we both just want to help if we can. I know that. Come on, sit down. Whatever it is, maybe me and your father can help you iron it out. I appreciate that, but I know how you two feel about spencer, so I’m just gonna deal with it myself. Well, I will stay open-minded. Yeah. Me too. It was you, sonny. You’re the one who advised against me holding on to my half of the hotel. Yeah, I know, but that was months ago. Since then, you know, I’ve watched you, and you’ve proven me wrong. You’ve tackled every obstacle and challenge that has been thrown your way. And now the metro court is doing good and the business is booming. Yeah, I’d like to think that I helped with that.

[ Chuckles ] Right. And you and olivia are doing great. I know in the beginning she was tough, but you won her over, and in my experience, that’s not easy to do. No, you’re not kidding. So you’re enjoying running the day-to-day at the hotel. Carly’s settled in at kelly’s, right? Mm-hmm. So we’re all getting along. At least co-existing. So, why would you — why would you want to rock the boat and sell your half to carly? Isn’t it exciting, michael?

[ Chuckles ] Michael: I’m trying to protect my family from you! Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Mom, um, when did nina decide she wanted to sell you back her half of the hotel? She stopped by here this morning on her way to work, and that’s when she made the offer. Um, tell me about this offer.

[ Sniffing ] Yeah, it smells like a flower shop or a funeral. I’m not sure which. Really? I don’t think so. You should probably take some of these and donate them at gh. Okay, so, scale of one to ten, how mad at me is trina? Eleven! Okay. Spencer, speaking for myself, if dex threw down with me and told me not to ask him to choose between me and someone else because I wouldn’t like the answer —

[Exhales sharply] Hate to break it to you — it seems like a red flag and possibly a relationship ender. Marshall: That boy gave you an ultimatum? Pop — look, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. We said we’d be neutral. Sorry. But now you understand why I am so frustrated with him.

[ Cellphone chiming ]

[ Sighs ] And not to mention, he keeps blowing up my phone with text messages and phone calls. I know I need to respond. I just — I don’t know what to say.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Stop texting me, spencer. Trina, I have never seen you so upset with spencer.

[ Sighs ] Look, I know I haven’t been your dad that long, but may I offer you some unsolicited parental advice? As long as it’s not just to tell me to talk to spencer again. But, see, that’s exactly what you’ll need to do. But first you need to figure out for yourself what you want to discuss with him. You see, I believe in any romantic relationship, you have to be very clear about what you want and what you’re willing to put up with. So, if you’re willing to do the hard work with your feelings, I think your grandfather and I could — we could help you figure some things out.

[Coughing] Copd hasn’t been pretty.

[ Recorder beeps ] I will give you the name of mason’s boss. I will. I-I’ll do that. As soon as there’s a deal in place. What kind of deal are you talking about? A deal that — a deal that guarantees my freedom. Immunity from prosecution. And I’m not gonna set foot in a courtroom and testify against anybody. Look, doc, you’re just not in a position to negotiate right now, so… dante, I don’T… …I guess this conversation is over. …Think that you really… you can see yourself out. …Understand the risk that I took coming here.

[ Sighs ] If my boss finds out that I’m here before you get a chance to bring him into custody, I’m a dead man. Deputy mayor ashford, it’s good to see you. You’re looking well. Mm. Congratulations on your hardship release from prison. Not many people who’ve done what you have are given yet another chance to become a productive citizen. And I am grateful for the opportunity. It’s why I came by this evening. I wanted to share news with my sister. About what? I found gainful employment. Really? Doing what? Washing dishes at the port charles grill. Why would anna be hiding from me? I mean, she can’t possibly think I’m gonna prosecute her for the cassadine shooting. I think it’s the opposite. Anna probably feels like you may come under scrutiny if you don’t prosecute her.

[ Sighs ] Everyone knows the history you two share.

[ Scoffs ] It’s a hell of a time to be thinking about my reputation. Well, maybe it’s even simpler. Maybe anna knows that she got herself into this situation and it’s on her and her alone to get herself out. How do I figure out what I want? Maybe we start by ruling out a few things first. Trina, do you want to break up with spencer? No, of course not. See? There it is. Sometimes we figure out what we want by knowing what we don’t want. And from what you’ve told us, you don’t want spencer, esme, and ace living together, either. It’s at least better now that kevin and laura are back in town. But, yes, in a perfect world, spencer would not share a home with esme and ace. Why is that? Because…

[ Breathes deeply ] Because… spencer is ace’s brother. He’s not his dad. You know, I spoke with laura when she got back from europe, and she received confirmation that nikolas is alive, and by his own free will, he’s choosing to stay away from port charles and being an active father in spencer and ace’s lives. So, can you blame spencer for wanting to play a role in his brother’s life? Yes! This whole thing is just so messy. I mean, esme is — is spencer’s ex-girlfriend, and I know she doesn’t remember that part of her life, but I do, and — and there’s still that history of them being a couple together. And now they’re taking parenting classes together, they’re living together, and I’m just not comfortable with it. I’ve been patient and I’ve been understanding and I’ve reached my limit. I’m done. That’s something you’re gonna have to tell spencer. I know that I blew it. I — I lost my temper. Yeah, well, you have a tendency to do that. I threw down an ultimatum, and, look, I don’t want to have to carry that out. Well, you raised an important question. If you had to choose, would you rather be with trina or live with esme and ace? I don’t know. I don’t know. I guess I was fooling myself to think that this scenario could continue on like this for forever. Type 2 diabetes? Discover the ozempic tri-zone.

I have another question for you. But since I also got a late start at being your granddad, let me give you a brief history on myself. Your grandmother, irene — she wasn’t my first girlfriend, but she was my first love. In fact, that buttermilk cornbread baking in the oven — that’s her secret recipe. I’ll teach it to you sometime.

[ Chuckles ] I don’t even know how to make the cornbread. I loved irene. I loved her with all my heart and soul. For the longest time, I thought that she would be my only romantic love. That is, until I met epiphany johnson. May she rest in peace. I’m sorry you lost epiphany. Thank you. Trina, is spencer the first boy you’ve been in love with? Yeah. For the most part. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Those answers don’t seem to go together. You care to explain what you mean? Joss has been my best friend since junior high, and when she got involved with oscar, our friend group solidified around joss and oscar and me and cameron. And when oscar got diagnosed with cancer… mm. …And eventually died, um, things got really intense and emotional. I’m sorry you lost your friend to cancer. It was hard. But cam and i spent a lot of time being joss’s support system, helping her deal with the loss of oscar. And [Chuckles] If I’m being honest, I had really strong feelings for cam. You did? Yeah. But that was a long time ago, and what I felt for cam is nothing like how I feel for spencer. He’s the real deal. And I thought that he was gonna be my future, but… but what? But I think I might have been wrong. Your situation with ace, esme, and trina can’t continue. That’s obvious. I love trina so much. The more time that we spend together, the deeper the connection I feel with her. She’s so smart. She’s so… she’s so passionate. She’s so real. She’s a beautiful person, and I’d never want to hurt her, josslyn. And I would never want to give her up. Then maybe that’s your answer. Okay. Okay. But she’s also an adult. She is responsible, and she is capable I mean…she survived my uncle victor and all the crazy that happened while we were in greenland together. Ace is a baby. His father abandoned him. And I know what that feels like. And while I don’t think that esme is a bad person — anymore — I don’t think that she would be able to give ace the kind of life that he deserves on her own. What do you mean? Like financially? Like financially and emotionally and just, like, the overall general support that ace is going to need growing up. Mm-hmm. That’s fair. I just know in my heart that my little brother needs me. And isn’t what a baby needs more important? So then while I was getting nina’s to-go order ready, I noticed she was having a very intense conversation with martin gray out front. But then drew showed up and surprised me and I got a little distracted. It is so great having him home. It is. It feels so good knowing he’s not in danger anymore and he’s back home where he belongs. You know, it just makes me so happy. Then drew left and I brought nina her order to her and that’s when she offered to sell me back my half of the metro court. Do you think that her selling her half of the metro court back to you was what she was talking about with martin? Well, she did say what she was discussing with martin concerned me. That’s when she presented the offer. And that’s when willow arrived. I knew the second I heard about it that it was the perfect way to heal our family. You know, sonny, I recently got some really great advice. Instead of making enemies, I should start making more friends. And you thought you would start with carly? No, it’s —

[ Laughs ] It’s not like I’m deceiving myself into thinking that, you know, carly and i will ever be friends. It’s not that. It’s just we — we have a lot of people in common, people that — that we love. And we should stop clawing at each other, you know, and continuing this armed truce of gritting our teeth and waiting to take the other one down. I couldn’t agree more. Yeah. I just think it’s better for everyone if we — if we left the past in the past, right? And the best way that I can do that is to sell carly back her half of the hotel. You know how independent anna is, robert. To a fault. As much as you want to fix this for her, she’s the one who shot charlotte. She needs to find her own way to deal with this and move past it. I hope she’s not avoiding me because of valentin cassadine. Valentin? Yeah. I-I never trusted the guy. Any cassadine, for that matter. I mean, I told her over and over again that this relationship she had with him would end in disaster. And here we are. Mind you, nobody could have predicted a disaster quite like this one.

[ Sighs ] I just hope she doesn’t think that I’m gonna say “I told you so.” Anna knows you better than that. Look, man, there isn’t gonna be a deal until you give us your boss’s name. Alright, you don’t want to testify, that’s fine, but you got to give us some other evidence, documents, records, something… okay. …That we can use… yes. That’ll get mason to flip on this guy or something that we can use in court that proves your boss’s guilt. Okay. I can do that. I can — I can do that. Great. You do that, and I’ll talk to the da about a deal. Okay. Uh, yeah. I know you don’t like me, dante. I-I get it. I can — I mean, I can see why. But I’m not a bad guy. I’m just a guy who’s been coerced into doing a lot of things that I knew weren’t the right thing to do. So, thank you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to finally do the right thing.

[ Door closes ] My mom’s alzheimer’s never changed how much we love her. Something you don’t know about me, laura, is I worked as a cook back in my youth. And I believe, with a little hard work and determination, I should be able to move my way up at the port charles grill. How did you get the job? The manager is part of a network of businesses who work with a charity to end recidivism. They give formerly incarcerated people like myself a chance at employment. Well, congratulations, cyrus. Oh. But as you can see, jordan and I were right in the middle of a meeting, so I’m afraid you’re gonna have to — of course. I stopped by unannounced. I — it’s — it’s just — it’s great to see you, laura.

[ Door closes ] I don’t believe a word that came out of his mouth. Do you? Trina, I think you need to talk to spencer about priorities. Because family is important, and a priority. I get that. But family can’t be more significant than your primary relationship, right? Right. Okay, for example, take your grandfather. He’s very important to me, and so is aunt stella. And you, my love. You’re a huge priority for me. But your mom, as my wife, she is my primary relationship first and foremost. Now, I’m not suggesting that you go off and get married or that you’re even ready for it. But I do know how important your relationship is with spencer. Yeah, it is. But is he your first priority? I totally get that you just want to take care of your little brother.

Ahh! Yes. Exactly. Why is that so difficult for people to understand, josslyn? It’s not difficult for people to understand. But have you thought about what that looks like? Does that look like you, esme, and ace all living together, while at the same time you and trina are a couple? You’re going on trips together. You’re spending time together. But every night you go home to esme and ace. Would that be so impossible? No, it wouldn’t be impossible. But it wouldn’t be fair to anyone, including you. You shouldn’t have lost your half of the metro court to begin with… well — …any more than drew should have had to go to prison and suffer what he did. Yeah. None of it was fair to either of you. The whole insider trading indictment was wrong. Thankfully, it’s over now. And drew is free and back home where he belongs, rebuilding his life. And if you think about it, all that’s left now to balance the scales is for you to get your hotel back. If only it were that simple. I can’t just accept nina’s offer. I have to figure out how I’m gonna pay for it. And that’s where you come in. I’m assuming that you found out about this offer because carly wanted to talk it over with you? Why didn’t you think of telling me? Well, sonny, you have a relationship with carly. I’m always gonna respect that. And, you know, I’m not gonna run to you in advance to get you on my side so you view my actions from my perspective. I’m a business woman. Right. This is a business transaction between carly and me. It really has nothing to do with you at all. Nina… you’re not that naive.

[Deep exhale] Yeah, mom, I can give youthe money you need to buy back your half of the metro court on whatever terms you want. I mean, you can take it as a gift if you want. I don’t — either way. Let michael do this for you, carly. Yeah, I want to, mom. No. Absolutely not. Look, when my life was falling apart, josslyn offered to give me half of her trust, and I turned her down, just like I’m turning you down. I love you. But I can’t take your money. Okay. Alright. Just — just hear me out for a minute. Look, I have been very fortunate financially. I run aurora, and I have the second largest amount of voting stock at elq. I mean, jason set me up with a substantial trust fund when I was a baby, so… look, what I’m trying to say is I have benefited greatly from the generosity of my family my entire life. And I’d like to give something back to you. If anyone deserves it, mom, it’s you, so… look, I want to do this for you. So, you just told me that offering carly half of the hotel was a peacemaking gesture? Well, it’s the best one I could think of. So it wasn’t just a simple business transaction? It was more than that, right? And I appreciate you leaving me out of it, but I’m already involved because you’re my wife. Carly’s the mother of my children. We’re gonna be tied for life. So this affects our entire family. Okay. Alright. You’re right. If that’s the case… did you advise carly to take my offer? I honestly don’t know what to make of cyrus anymore. Well, you have to trust your instinct, laura. Well, it’s just that I know how dangerous he can be, but I also know how close he came to death with this — this heart attack of his. So, maybe this new perspective of his is real. No! No, you know, he’s an older man, and he’s in poor health. Maybe now he just wants a simple life as a dishwasher. I don’t believe that, and I don’t trust him. I know cyrus lives for one thing and one thing only — power. And that’ll never change.

[ Sighs ] Well, it’s late and it’s been a long day. This better be good. I wouldn’t have called you here if it wasn’t, robert. What do you got? I’ve been squeezing austin gatlin-holt, trying to get him to give up his cousin and the guy they work for, the guy we think is responsible for kidnapping ava jerome. Well, maybe you should squeeze a bit harder. Well, he’s willing to give up his boss’s name and corroborating evidence, but he wants a deal. What are you doing here?

[ Gunshots ] Esme is gonna meet someone. Nger you stay in thispseudo-family with esme and ace, the more it’s gonna hurt when it blows up. And it will. You know it will. Esme is gonna meet someone. She’s gonna want a life of her own. And trina deserves better than you fitting her in when you’re not hanging out with them. Okay. Okay. So, what’s the alternative? Bowing out? I just let esme take ace, and they move into their little apartment and I get to visit on weekends? Yes. Nope. No. No, I’m not gonna do that. And I refuse to accept that as a reality. I’m not gonna let esme take my little brother away from me. Okay, see, this is exactly how you would operate when we were children. Oh, come on. You wanted what you wanted, and you never stopped to consider who could get hurt in the process and what it would cost. You are an adult now. You have to slow down and realize that you are not going to get everything you want. This time, you really do have to choose. Is spencer my priority? I don’t like the sound of that or what it implies. I want a career. And because of that, I feel like my education should be my first priority. I don’t think your dad was suggesting that you prioritize a man over your invaluable education. Absolutely not. Honey, I know I had nothing to do with your decision to go to college or for you choosing art as your major. But I am very proud of you for pursuing your dreams. Okay, let me think. How can I simplify this? Who is the first person you text in the morning and the last person you text at night? Is it your mom? Is it josslyn? No. It’s spencer. First and last. There you go. And now you have your answer. And you have your question for spencer. Because is it the same for him? I know better than to offer carly advice, but I hope she takes your offer. Oh. You do? Why? Because once she’s, you know, running things at the metro court again, we could stop rehashing the past and move forward. That would be nice. But I don’t think carly sees it the way I do because she just told me that she’s happy to be working at kelly’s and that she appreciates that bobbie let her have the diner as a safety net. So she wants to stay there. But I want to say, even if carly doesn’t accept your offer, um, I appreciate what you did. Thank you. Because you are the bigger person. And you’re the one trying to make peace with our family. Thank you both so much for caring. That’s what family does. I got to admit, I was thrown a little bit off my game when nina presented the offer. I think we all were. And I’ve been, uh… thinking a lot about it. I really have. And I appreciate that nina made the offer. I really do. And I believe she did it for you and the kids because she wants to mend fences and she wants to make peace. So… so, you’re going to accept the money from michael? I can’T. I… I can’t accept nina’s offer. Mom — michael, as badly as I want my hotel back, it won’t feel like mine if i don’t get it back on my own. You will be in a better position to keep an eye on cyrus as the police commissioner. And if he violates the terms of his release, you can bust him. You won’t be able to do that as deputy mayor. So, whatever decision you make, I will respect. No. You know what? I refuse to make cyrus my obsession, to become captain ahab, chasing him down to my own detriment. He’s not worth that. Before he came in, I was about to accept the position as deputy mayor permanently. And I see no reason to change my mind. I see no reason to, either. Thank you so much, jordan. I really believe that together we will be an effective team and that together we will be able to do some really good things for the people of port charles. I’m counting on it.

[ Chuckles ] Man: Excuse me, mrs. Scorpio? Oh, hi, mr. Williams. How did it go? Oh, everything went smoothly. Oh, that’s great. I checked, and the hospital received the approval from your insurance company. Ah. I wouldn’t have been able to get my mri if it wasn’t for you. So, thank you. Oh, I was just doing my job. So, where did you leave the good dr. Gatlin-holt? Well, he says he’s got evidence against mason and his still nameless boss. He’s gone to retrieve it, apparently, and he will hand it over if we make a deal with him and give him immunity. Hmm. So, what do you think about this guy? I mean, this austin — is he on the up-and-up? I don’t know, I think at this point he’s just scrambling, trying to save his own skin. But he is motivated to put his boss away before his boss knows that he’s turned on him. I say we give him the deal. Mm. The da’s office could never make a case against austin abetting the ava jerome kidnapping. So, you get a name and evidence of guilt

[Chuckles] He can have immunity.

Brooke: I do understand that you and Hope are enjoying each other’s company.

Thomas: Yeah, it’s– it is more than that, Brooke.

Brooke: Yeah, I don’t even know how you can say that. Her marriage did just end.

Thomas: Yes, it did and I am very sensitive to that.

Brooke: And if you were sensitive to that, you would give her some space.

Thomas: You know, if Hope wants space, she can tell me. And I’m just going to follow her lead on that.

Brooke: Well, just keep your expectations really low. I mean, she may be caught up in this whole thing right now, but deep down, she’s really mourning the loss of her marriage to Liam.

Liam: You are my wife. Of course, I’m always going to care about you, Hope.

Hope: And I’m always going to care about you, Liam, but there’s a line, so you don’t need to worry about me. I’m– I’m fine.

Liam: Sorry. I wish things had gone differently.

Hope: Well, they didn’t. And this is my life now without you. And you’re going to have to accept that.

Finn: Okay, okay, it’s your turn now. I’ve told enough embarrassing stories about my poor cousin.

Luna: No, I mean, did you really have to tell them about the carnival?

RJ: Well, I thought it was adorable. It was adorable.

Steffy: Like, clowns are scary. I mean, remember when I dressed up as one on Halloween and then you locked yourself in your room? [ Laughs ]

RJ: I was two years old, Steffy. You gave me nightmares for years, do you remember that part?

Finn: Well, you guys both have a lot in common, then.

Steffy: You two are really working well together. Helping our granddad with the line.

Luna: I mean, that was exhilarating. It was, like, a total crash course on learning the fashion business and one of the biggest highlights of my life.

RJ: She’s been crushing it. She did awesome, the whole thing.

Steffy: That’s what I’ve heard.

Steffy: I still can’t believe Dad let Granddad think he won the fashion challenge.

Finn: It’s the sweetest gesture.

Steffy: Sweetest thing ever.

Finn: And I respect Ridge enormously for doing that.

RJ: Me too.

Finn: Hey, RJ.

RJ: Yeah?

Finn: Why don’t you and I go for a swim in the ocean?

RJ: Right now? Yeah.

Finn: Yeah.

RJ: I’m super down. Always. Is that okay with you?

Luna: Absolutely. Go for it.

RJ: Sure?

Steffy: Luna and I will be fine. Give us a chance to get to know each other better.

Thomas: Look, it’s always painful when a family splits up.

Brooke: But it goes beyond that. And I don’t think you realize, Thomas, how much she really treasured her life with Liam.

Liam: Well, that same feeling that I had when I married you… it– it hasn’t gone away. It’s still– it’s still there.

Hope: I– I don’t know how you expect me to believe that, Liam.

Liam: I could have done more to show it, but… I’m never going to stop loving you and that’s just– that shouldn’t come as a surprise to you because I think that you’re never going to stop loving me, either. That’s what I think.

Luna: Finn and I were super close when I was little. He was always the protective older cousin.

Steffy: It’s good to have him in your corner.

Luna: Yeah, I mean, it’s been a while. I’m just glad that we’re getting reacquainted again.

Steffy: Well, Finn’s excited you’re here, and I can tell my baby brother is, too.

Finn: All right, we’re heading out.

Steffy: Hey, now. Too bad it’s dark out. Look at those abs. Look at those pecs, baby.

Finn: All for you, babe. See you in a bit, okay?

Steffy: Okay.

RJ: Hey, don’t grill her too much, okay? Just take it kind of easy on her, please.

Steffy: I’ll try.

RJ: Okay.

Steffy: Be careful.

Finn: Right, we will.

RJ: Come on, come on.

Luna: They’re crazy. I’m– I’m too afraid of sharks.

Steffy: Yeah, they– they are definitely crazy. But you should get out there at one point. RJ could teach you how to surf.

Luna: Okay, that I might be into.

Steffy: I can definitely tell you that you are into RJ.

Luna: Okay, well, yeah, I– I always knew he was in good shape, but, wow.

[ Both laughing ]

Steffy: Well, they’re two sweet guys. And got to say, they are easy on the eyes.

Luna: Yeah. Um, can I be honest with you about something, Steffy?

Thomas: Brooke, I mean, you should understand more than anyone, Hope doesn’t want to be with someone where his attention is divided, where she can be with someone who only wants her. I mean, you of all people should understand that.

Brooke: I agree. Hope deserves a man who is completely devoted to her.

Thomas: Just so long as it isn’t me.

Brooke: Look, I know that you’ve been working on yourself, Thomas, trying to make yourself a– a better person. I get it. And maybe Hope sees something that I don’t see. And I know she’s very attracted to you and having fun with this fling, but she’s made it very clear that she’s not in love with you and she may never be. Can you live with that?

Hope: I will always have a connection to you, Liam. We’ve been through so much together and our beautiful daughter–

Liam: Who Thomas tried to convince us was dead.

Hope: You know, you keep bringing that up.

Liam: Yeah, I keep bringing it up and I’m not going to stop bringing it up, and frankly– frankly, I’m appalled that you have.

Hope: I have not forgotten, Liam, but if I let the past rule me, I will never be able to live in the present. Thomas has earned my trust. He’s apologized, he’s taken accountability and not just with empty words, but with action.

Liam: I don’t get you giving that guy an ounce of slack, much less whatever this is.

Hope: All right. Okay, great. Fine. Awesome. Yeah, maybe I have a blind spot where Thomas is concerned. Wonderful. And if you really need to know, sure, we– we are taking things day by day.

Liam: What does that mean? You’re just like– no strings? You’re just having sex?

Hope: Yeah.

Liam: O– okay, so you’re just like, hooking up. See, that’s not you. That’s not who you are.

Hope: Liam, you don’t know me. I’m starting to think maybe you never did. Maybe you just loved the idea of me. But Thomas, he sees me. And I am able to put my wants, my needs, my desires first. And he, Thomas loves me for it.

Thomas: Okay, it’s getting late.

Brooke: Uh, Thomas, I just want to thank you. It’s important that we spoke.

Thomas: And, yeah, look, I understand that you may never believe in my relationship with Hope, but I think that she does.

Brooke: Okay, just don’t read too much into that because it is a phase.

Thomas: I’m not going to choose to believe that. I believe that there’s a future and I honestly believe that it’s possible Hope opens her heart fully to me.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Steffy: Of course, you can be honest with me, what is it? Is it about RJ?

Luna: No, it’s, um– it’s actually about you.

Steffy: Me?

Luna: Yeah, I– I don’t know if you could tell, but this dinner made me super anxious.

Steffy: I get it, you know. Meeting your boyfriend’s family for the first time is a little overwhelming.

Luna: Yeah, it is. But it’s not just because you’re RI’s sister. It’s because you’re Steffy Forrester. I mean, you’re a fashion icon. You’re larger than life. Um, but it’s not just the fame and the glamor. I mean, what RJ said about you is true. He told me what a compassionate, caring person you are and especially clear how much you care about Eric and your brothers and your parents. You guys are just so blessed to have such a strong, loving family.

Steffy: Thank you. That is super sweet. Yeah, we are– we’re very fortunate. We’re always there to support one another, especially when one person is struggling.

Luna: Yeah, I mean, that’s what I experienced with RJ. That same sense of loyalty. I mean, he’s a wonderful guy. How could I not fall for him?

Steffy: Well, that’s why I invited you over. I can definitely see that the feelings are mutual. And I know it’s still new. You guys are still trying to figure each other out, but I like this whole vibe.

Luna: Yeah, me too.

Finn: Hey.

RJ: Hey. It’s incredible out there. What’s going on? What were you two talking about?

Steffy: Wouldn’t you like to know?

[ Both chuckling ]

Hope: We ended our relationship, Liam. You don’t get to dictate what you think my life should look like.

Liam: I’m not– I’m not– I’m not dictating. I’m not– I’m not dictating. I’m not shaming, I’m just– I’m– I’m concerned about some of the choices you’re making, that’s all.

Hope: Look, I’m sure that this is a lot for you to take in right now. I mean, me being dressed in lingerie for another man.

Liam: It’s not just any other man. Not just any other man.

Hope: Liam, you threw us away! Thomas adores me. And he loves me and only me.

Liam: So did– so did I.

Hope: No, you didn’t. Liam, I wanted your full heart. That’s all I wanted. But for years, I mean– I’m not sure if you will understand this concept, but, um, just because you aren’t sleeping with Steffy doesn’t mean that you aren’t keeping her on the back burner. It doesn’t mean that you’re not withholding a piece of your heart for her. It doesn’t mean that you’re not just keeping the door open just a little bit for the possibility of Steffy. So, no, I never got all your heart.

Liam: I begged you. I begged you not to– not to go back to work with him. I begged you not to turn to him and– and– and then– then there you were. You were kissing him in Rome.

Hope: You still ran to Steffy.

[ All chuckling ]

Finn: No, Luna, seriously, I can’t tell you how cool this is for me.

Luna: I mean, this was such a blast, you guys. Thank you so much for inviting me.

Finn: And look, I know you’ve been having some trouble with my mom.

Steffy: What about Li?

Finn: I– I’ll– I’ll fill you in later. Look, whatever beef between Aunt Poppy and my mom, I mean, that’s between them. It shouldn’t affect our relationship. I always want you to feel welcome here.

Luna: Thank you, Finn, that means the world to me. I just– I wish our moms could get along.

Finn: Yeah.

Liam: Hope, I’m desperate here to– to get through to you, to stop you from wanting to be with Thomas.

Hope: Liam.

Liam: You said yourself, no strings attached, right? And God knows, I mean, how could there be right? Given everything that he’s put us through. I mean, is this– really? This is like– this is how you want to spend your time?

Hope: I don’t know what to tell you, Liam. I don’t– I don’t know how to answer that. I– I don’t know what the future will bring. I just know that I am trying to be present, and I am open to anything.

Liam: Not anything. It’s– okay, oh. Okay, what– so, what? You like– you might want another baby now or…

Hope: I might.

Liam: With Thomas?

Hope: Certainly not with you.

Liam: I mean, are you– are you even using birth control?

Hope: Oh, my God, Liam, that is none of your business! Liam, I don’t know how to make this make sense to you. Thomas sees me! And only me! And I want that! Liam, I– I love you and I know you mean well and I don’t know if I’m making the right or wrong decision. I don’t have the answers. I just know what I want.

Liam: Thomas.

Hope: Yes. Thomas makes me happy. Liam, and I–

Liam: Oh, great. That’s– that’s great.

Thomas: Liam. What are you doing here?

Liam: I have a child who lives here.

Thomas: Yeah, the kids are over at Katie’s. You okay?

Liam: Are you– what kind of question is that? I’m sorry, can we not– like, can we just– can we stop this? Can we end this now? Can we end it?

Hope: Liam. I know you loved me. All those years. But, Liam… as much as it pains me to say this… this is not your home anymore. So, yes, we will parent Beth together, but the man in my life now… is Thomas. A man who loves me with all of his heart. And I love him for that.

Thomas: You said that I love you with all of my heart.

Hope: It’s because you do.

Thomas: And you said that you love me for that.

Hope: I suppose I did.
