[ Daniel sighing ]

Daniel: Lucy?

Lucy: Hi, dad.

Daniel: Hey!

Lucy: Best surprise ever?

Daniel: Uh, yeah. Best since the last time you– what are you doing here?

Lucy: Well, mom is working on phyllis’ case and I just finished camp, so instead of going back to lisbon, I–

Daniel: Came to visit your old man. Oh, okay. Was this your idea or your mother’s?

Lucy: Well, of course I wanted to see you.

Daniel: And?

Lucy: And maybe mom’s a little worried about you. I mean, just because of phyllis and everything else.

Daniel: I’m fine. I promise, I’m fine. Look, but I love having you here. You guys could have told me that you were coming, you or your mom.

Lucy: And ruin the big surprise? I mean, you should’ve seen your face. Those big eyes and goofy smile?

Daniel: Oh, ha, ha, ha. Well, just for your information, you inherited that same smile.

Lucy: Okay, but I– I make it cool.

Daniel: You do make it cool. What do you wanna do? You wanna go grab one of those frozen mocha ice drinks over at the coffee house? You wanna get some food?

Lucy: Whatever you want. This trip’s all about you.

Daniel: So, you are checking up on me.

Lucy: And I’m bringing my coolness to brighten your day.

Daniel: It does brighten my day. Now look, I’m gonna– I’m gonna say this again. I’m fine.

Lucy: Fine. Then, we’ll just have fun. Maybe mom will need some support because she’s stuck between christine and phyllis. There’s gonna be a trial soon, right?

Daniel: Oh, it’s, uh, it’s looking that way.

Lucy: Mom’s the best at this stuff, right?

Daniel: Yup. Heather’s a great attorney, but you know, your grandmother, she–

Lucy: Gets in her own way all the time. That’s what you always say.

Daniel: Yeah, she really does.

Lucy: What about aunt summer? How’s she doing with all this?

Daniel: Well, I worry about summer. She’s already lost so much, I don’t wanna see her lose anything else.

Chance: Well, look at that.

Summer: Chance, hi.

Chance: Hey.

Summer: What’s going on?

Chance: Oh, no, just in the gym, you know. Been thinking about this case for the longest time and needed to clear my head a little bit.

Summer: Does that usually work for you?

Chance: Yeah, yeah. Doesn’t hurt. What’s, uh, what’s up with you? Kind of seem like one big ball of nerves.

Summer: Uh, no. Nothing’s going on.

Chance: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, hey, hey. I don’t wanna push or cross any lines or anything, but I hope you know you can talk to me. You can trust me. I mean, who’s more trustworthy than me?

Summer: You? The cop who arrested my mom?

Chance: Well, you’re not gonna hold that against me now, are ya? I thought we were friends.

Summer: I would really like to talk to you about all of this, but I– I don’t even know how to explain it. All I’ll say is, um, everything’s changed.

Heather: Phyllis, stop talking until we have a chance to discuss this in private.

Phyllis: I’ve never been more serious. I mean it, christine. I will plead guilty to all the charges to avoid trial. I need something from you in return in writing.

Christine: I’m listening.

Phyllis: I need you to confirm that you will not try to prosecute my kids. Summer and daniel are not guilty of anything. They did nothing wrong. They shouldn’t be punished, please. In writing, you will not prosecute them. The only thing they’re guilty of is trying to help their mom, that’s it.

Christine: Okay, I will guarantee no prosecution for daniel or summer.

Phyllis: Good. Can we get in front of a judge now? Today?

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Chance: All right. Hit me. What has changed?

Summer: I got into a fight with my mom.

Chance: Well, that’s not very surprising. You’ve been doing that a lot lately, right?

Summer: This time was different.

Chance: How?

Summer: You know what? It’s not worth going into. All you need to know is that my eyes are finally open. Now, I’m on the precipice of something, you know? Like, I could just step off and I would enter this whole other dimension or– or it’s like, I’ve experienced this personal earthquake and everything has shifted. Like, my life could be going in a whole different direction. Okay, I’m not explaining this well. You know what it is? Do you know the feeling that you get when you’re on a really big rollercoaster and you get to the top and you have that feeling in the pit of your stomach and you’re really nervous and you’re scared, but there’s also this acceptance because you’re there? And there’s no turning back, no matter how scared you are.

Chance: Okay, so you feel like you’re on a rollercoaster?

Summer: Yeah. I mean, I’m letting go of my mom. I love her. Obviously, I love her. She’s my mom, but… she’s in charge of her own fate. I can’t control her and I can’t change her.

Chance: What about kyle?

Summer: There’s no going back. So, I’ve gotta move forward, right? And I just– I have this weird… energy, you know? I don’t– I don’t know what it is. I don’t know what it is. Maybe… maybe it’s me letting go of all this crap that I’ve been putting up with for the last few months, you know? Maybe this is what liberation feels like.

Christine: Thank you, your honor, for seeing us on such short notice.

Heather: Please take a beat and think about this.

Judge: Is the defendant going against counsel’s advice?

Phyllis: Yes, I am, your honor. I am going against counsel’s advice and I– I know exactly what I’m doing and why.

Judge: Have a seat. Okay. I understand that you want to change your plea. You’re now pleading guilty to all charges against you.

Phyllis: Yes. I plead guilty to all charges against me. I don’t want this going to trial. I want this to be over. I know exactly what I’m doing. I want my kids to be safe, but I– I just ask– I ask that you hear how I ended up here in front of you, begging for mercy.

Judge: Very well, ms. Summers. District attorney has submitted a, uh, sentencing recommendation. I don’t have to accept it. What would you like me to know before I make my decision? Postmenopausal women with hr+ her2-

Phyllis: I was terrified of jeremy stark. You know who he is. He did horrible things. He– he served time in prison.

Christine: So had you.

Phyllis: Um… diane jenkins’ testimony, that’s– that’s how I landed in prison. And so, he hated her, obviously. Um, he knew that I hated her as well, so he had this idea that I would fake my death and we would frame diane for it. Duplication of something diane had done herself many, many years ago.

Judge: And you went along with it?

Phyllis: Yeah, for revenge, at the time. I just didn’t understand how– how everybody gave diane jenkins a free pass and no one did the same for me. I’ve never been given a free pass for anything in my life. So, my kids had already left me, um, and I– I felt lost and jeremy saw that and he preyed upon that. The way that I felt, he manipulated it, my isolation, but there was a real undercurrent of a threat the whole time.

Judge: Against you?

Phyllis: Against me. Um… but mainly against my kids at the time that if I didn’t go along with the plan, that maybe he would do something to them.

Judge: But you married him before this plan went into effect, is that correct?

Phyllis: Yes, but that was one of his stipulations, that I marry him, and at the time, it doesn’t even matter because I’d be dead anyway, so I know it’s crazy. I know– I under– it– it– huh. His idea seemed like the answer.

Judge: And after you were legally married?

Phyllis: That’s when everything went into overdrive. I mean, what the– the gala, the poisoning. He had everything planned out. The ambulance crash. Everything was set up. All the clues to indicate that diane jenkins was guilty.

Judge: And you also intended.

Phyllis: But at this point, I, um… I was just trying to protect my family, if that makes sense to you. My kids had a memorial for me. I went to it and I hid in the back. My kids were in so much pain and I realized I caused that. I caused their pain. My daughter went from numb to anguish to fury. My son had such unbridled rage towards jeremy stark.

[ Phyllis sighing ] I did that to them. That’s when things changed to me. I couldn’t bear living the rest of my life without my children. So, I wanted out, but jeremy wasn’t gonna let me out. No. So, now he started overtly threatening my children and he took a life insurance policy, named himself as the beneficiary. Oh, and then he changed the plan.

Judge: In what way did he change the plan?

Phyllis: First, he was just gonna help me disappear and then he changed the plan. That we’d be together forever and we’d be connected in some deserted island somewhere. That we’d be a married couple and everything that that entails and I refused. And that’s when he said he’d kill me and he attacked me… and I defended myself.

Judge: This is the attack that was witnessed by mr. Carson?

Phyllis: I didn’t know that he saw it, but I guess he was looking through but I killed him before he killed me. I did that. I stabbed him. I killed him. It haunts me. I wake up at night and I see his face and I hear his voice and I feel his hands on my neck.

[ Phyllis sighing ] But I killed him. I took a man’s life and I can’t take it back. In a split second, I made that decision. I took his life. I did that and I take full responsibility for doing that. I truly do. Please… I ask you… that you understand the coercion and that I was a victim of it and that I was in terror in the hands of a man who was my captor. I am begging you. I am begging you for mercy, please.

[ Phyllis sobbing ]

Judge: Madam district attorney, anything you’d like to say?

[ Christine sighing ]

Christine: While I appreciate ms. Summers coming forward to tell us the details of what happened, expressing remorse for her role in deceiving an entire community, for framing an innocent woman and taking the life of a man, laws were broken and we cannot forget that.

Judge: Having heard ms. Summers account of her own ordeal, do you feel any differently about the sentencing recommendation?

Christine: I do not, your honor. While ms. Summers’ guilty plea does save the state time and cost of a trial, foregoing the right to one was her choice, and while a lighter sentence may be in order, it has to be in keeping with the severity with the crimes that were committed.

Judge: Counselor?

Heather: My client has shown great character speaking here today. That said, I am not surprised that the district attorney would continue to argue for a significant sentence. Her history with ms. Summers is, uh, well known.

Christine: Ms. Stevens knows full well that I would never let my personal feelings get in the way of the duties of my office. Your honor, consider we have no corroboration of the facts ms. Summers confessed beyond mr. Carson’s statement. That he witnessed mr. Stark attacking her. And mr. Carson isn’t even a reliable witness. He lied to authorities more than once and we have no proof that stark threatened her children and we can’t interview a dead man. My position on this is based on facts and ms. Stevens is out of line to suggest otherwise.

Daniel: Hey, mariah.

Mariah: Sh. It’s nap time.

Daniel: Sorry. And I– I remember those days well, even though they seem like they were a long time ago. Have you met my daughter, lucy?

Mariah: No. Hi! It’s so nice to meet you. You’re here visiting your dad and, oh, your mom. That’s perfect.

Lucy: Yup. Have both of them in the same place for once. Um, my flight’s one way for now. Departure tbd.

Daniel: Mm.

Mariah: You are a very lucky man, daniel.

Daniel: Yes, I am. This one here thought she better come and check on me.

Lucy: Well, when we text and call, he’s always like, “I’m fine. Everything’s fine. No need to worry.” But, I just wanted to come and check for myself.

Mariah: Well, your dad does have a lot on his plate right now, so you’re very sweet to check on him.

Daniel: Guys, I am– I’m fine. I am. Okay, maybe I’m not totally fine. Maybe this is a weird time for me. Everything that’s happened with my mother and you know, trying to get a new career of the ground with the omegasphere and trying to be a better father. I am. You know, a better father and a better man ’cause that’s what lucy deserves and that’s what lily and– and summer deserve, but it’s a process.

Mariah: Yeah, I– I totally get it.

Daniel: Distancing myself from the people I care about when things get tough, it’s kind of what I do, but I’m working on it. I am. I genuinely would like to be the kind of person that steps up rather than stepping back and just letting whatever’s gonna happen happen. Watching people that you love and you care about do damage to themselves and do damage to their relationships ’cause they just keep making the same stupid choices over and over again? I don’t think I have the time or the energy for that anymore. I don’t know if I ever will.

Chance: Liberation? Yeah. I– I guess you could be there. I don’t know. I feel like you still have a lot to process.

Summer: Okay, if it’s not liberation, what is it? What am I feeling?

Chance: Adrenaline? Coming off a big fight with your mom. I don’t know.

Summer: Maybe. Maybe. It could be adrenaline, but I don’t know. I feel… reckless, maybe.

Chance: All right.

Summer: I don’t know, chance. This feeling… it feels good. Like I have the old summer back.

Chance: The old summer?

Summer: I feel like I need to do something. I need to do something to get this energy out so that I could actually, potentially, refocus.

Chance: What’d you have in mind?

Summer: Maybe I need to find an actual rollercoaster?

Chance: Oh. Oh, wow. Didn’t expect that.

Summer: Think about it, though. Think about it. You’re up there really high and you can see for miles. I mean, there’s gotta be some clarity that comes from that, right?

Chance: Mm.

Summer: And then the wind hits your face and your stomach drops and it feels like anything could happen next and you just… go with it because you don’t have another choice. Come with me.

Judge: Ms. Summers, what do you think is a fair and appropriate sentence given the charges against you.

Phyllis: That, um… I think if I answered that, that would be very self-serving.

Judge: I’d still like to hear it.

Phyllis: Well, I feel like I’ve already paid a price for what I’ve done. I lost, uh, people I love. I’ve lost their respect, I’ve lost their trust. I’ve seen what my actions have done to my kids, my daughter in particular, what it has cost her. I’d like the opportunity to make that right.

Judge: And how would you do that?

Phyllis: Well, if I’m in a jail cell, I can’t do that. What I’m asking for is a chance to make amends. I desperately want to be a better mother. I want to be a better person. Judge, I have learned my lesson. I am asking you, I am begging you, please, please give me the opportunity to change, please.

Christine: Your honor, if I might add something–

Judge: I’ve heard enough, mrs. Williams. I’ll make my ruling shortly. I’m jonathan lawson With cirkul, your water is deliciously flavored at the turn of a dial, with zero sugar and zero calories. And cirkul has over 40 flavors, so your water can be as unique as you are. Try cirkul at drinkcirkul.Com lean cuisine.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. What can you do with sensitive skin?

Chance: You know what? I think a rollercoaster is exactly what you need right now. Unfortunately, I can’t come with you.

Summer: Oh, I see. You don’t want me to see how scared you get.

Chance: Uh, no. That’s not it. I’m not scared. Okay? I’m not. I got a couple of reports on my desk that are due soon, so I gotta go get that done.

Summer: I think I need to do this. I think I need to ride an actual rollercoaster.

Chance: Yeah.

Summer: Are you sure that you don’t wanna come with me? I promise you I will not tell a single soul that you shut your eyes and held on for dear life.

Chance: You know what? I’m gonna show you just how brave I am, just not today, all right? Rain check. Well, I’m sure I’m gonna see you very soon, so tell me how this goes, okay?

Summer: Okay.

Chance: Okay.

Summer: Bye.

Chance: Hey, summer. Rooting for you.

Mariah: Got it.

Daniel: Got what?

Mariah: Well, I got what you said. About watching the people you love making bad decisions because daniel romalotti is such a saint and everybody else needs to step up their game.

Daniel: That is exactly what I meant. You know, uh, mariah here is really good friends with kyle and with kevin.

Lucy: Your bestie.

Daniel: My bestie.

Lucy: So, you know my aunt summer?

Mariah: Yeah, we go way back.

Lucy: Not a fan?

Mariah: Uh, not to be mean about it, uh, but… team kyle forever.

Daniel: Hm. Right. So maybe you’re just a little biased about me.

Mariah: That’s fair, but how does that relate to you being quick to pass judgement on others?

Daniel: I’m not judgmental. Oh, come on. Maybe a little bit. Maybe a little judgmental.

Lucy: Mom says that when we have been kind of a mess and then we pull ourselves together that we expect others to be able to do it too and then, when they can’t, we don’t understand why.

Mariah: Well, perfectionists, and I don’t know if this applies to you, daniel, but they don’t just expect perfection out of themselves. They expect it out of other people too. Does any of that ring true?

Daniel: You know, if I wanted therapy, I’d, uh, head on over to the coffee house and talk to sharon.

[ Mariah laughing ]

Mariah: All right, all right. That’s fair.

[ Mariah chuckling ] You know, when I– when I look at aria, reminded about how miraculously unique each of us are. Now, I have my own path, my own pace. So do you. So does lucy. And so does aria. I’ll be out in the park like this or at the grocery store and other moms will ask me about the milestones and there’s this sort of unspoken competition going on. But what I do know is that aria, she’s just simply aria. She’s going to do exactly what she needs to do, exactly when she needs to do it and it’s not up to me. She’s got her own timeline. It’s not up to tessa. I feel like people change if and when they want to and change can be… extraordinarily difficult. Take an extraordinarily long time. I mean, I know that first hand. But the people we love, I don’t know, I feel like we need to give them the space and the trust to make all of those changes that they need to.

Phyllis: So, what do you think? Do you think the judge believed me?

Heather: I still don’t love that you came to this decision, changed your plea without consulting me. However, I’m impressed. I think you did the right thing and I believe that you’re sincere about wanting to change.

Phyllis: Well, can you tell my kids that?

[ Phyllis chuckling ] Summer thinks that everything that comes out of my mouth is a lie. I think that’s really the main reason I wanted to plead guilty. I wanted… to show my daughter that, um, I’m ready to face the consequences of my actions.

Heather: Summer will come around.

Phyllis: Daniel? I know he’s ashamed of me. That’s what he said. They always have been and always will be the best part of me. My kids. I wanna earn back their trust starting now. Known as a loving parent.

Heather: I know you know that you screwed up. I mean, there were probably a thousand ways you could’ve dealt with the hurt and the loneliness you were feeling, but you chose the absolute worse. But now, you’re back to your senses. The thing is, I saw it with daniel. You know, he pushed us away and he went down this, uh, terrible, dark hole, but when he came out, he realized what he’d done and what he lost.

Phyllis: So, you’re saying that there’s hope for me and my kids?

[ Phyllis chuckling ]

Heather: You’ve proven to yourself that you’re capable of doing the right thing. It feels good, doesn’t it? Really, really good. I hope you never forget what this feels like.

Phyllis: Uh, no, I won’T. I can’T.

[ Christine sighing ]

Chance: Madam D.A., What’s the latest?

Christine: Phyllis just went in front of a judge and plead guilty on all charges. Now, I’m just waiting to see if the judge takes my sentencing recommendation or if she throws it out and does her own thing.

Chance: Hm. Do you really think they’re just gonna let her walk?

Christine: I hope not. Heather accused me of going after phyllis as if I have a vendetta.

Chance: I mean, you two do have a history, but I’m sure you were nothing but fair, as always.

Christine: Of course I was. I mean, you know this case. It’s been very unnerving. And then, I– I just left the courthouse and I… I noticed that I had a voicemail from paul.

Chance: Oh, yeah? Is he still in portugal?

Christine: Yeah, he wants us to talk.

Chance: All right. When’s he coming back?

Christine: Not here. He wants me to go to lisbon.

Chance: Oh. Right in the middle of a case?

Christine: Chance, look I need to make time for this once phyllis is sentenced. He, um… he wants to talk about our future and I have to say, his tone didn’t sound very positive.

Chance: Hm. Well, I guess the question I have for you is how do you want all of this to end?

Christine: My marriage?

Chance: No. Phyllis.

Christine: I’m torn. I want her to have to pay for her crimes for once and not out of vengeance. Because it’s what’s right. It’s what I stand for as the D.A.

[ Christine sighing ] But at the same time, I– I do want what’s best for phyllis’ kids, you know? What would make it easiest for them to just move forward.

[ Christine sighing ] The judge has made a decision.

Heather: Judge is ready. Time to go. Come on, phyllis. You’ve made it this far. It’s time to see it through.

Phyllis: Yeah, my– my kids will know I did whatever it takes. That’s all that matters. Want luxury hair repair that doesn’t cost $50?

Mariah: Well, I should be getting this one home because she does not like to miss a meal.

Daniel: Yeah, this one’s like her old man. Gets really hangry if I don’t feed her, so.

Lucy: Well, I mean, that was the deal.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Mariah: Look, daniel. I– I really do hope everything works out with phyllis. Uh, I’m new to the whole mother/child relationship thing, but I do know how special moms are. I know mine is and I would do anything to make sure she was safe and I hope aria feels the same way about me one day.

Daniel: Well, thanks for the talk.

Mariah: Well, I will leave you guys, but lucy, it was very nice meeting you.

Lucy: Yeah, you too.

Mariah: Bye. See you guys soon.

Daniel: Bye.

Lucy: Hey, dad. Do you think you could take me to go see phyllis right now?

Daniel: Look, I know that you love her and you want to support her. I think we need to hold off for a while. You okay with that?

Lucy: But I’ll still get to see her, right? At some point?

Daniel: Yeah, you will.

Judge: Take a seat.

[ Sighing ] Ms. Summers, I’ve listened carefully to your story. I’ve heard how you were influenced by jeremy stark, how you were coerced by a dangerous criminal to commit to the series of crimes. The facts of the case are that you went to great lengths to commit fraud. To make it appear as if you’d died. You framed an innocent party, made your children accomplices to your crimes, and ultimately, killed a man when you felt the walls closing in. Mr. Stark was a dangerous criminal. He had a serious criminal record, so it’s reasonable to believe that you feared for your life. Furthermore, there were no witnesses to contradict your story. The only witness to come forward is mr. Carson, who confirmed your story that you acted in self-defense. I have taken into account his written statement. I’m going to reject your recommendation, mrs. Williams. Ms. Summers, I’m sentencing you to six months community service and a year of probation. Be anything but a model citizen during that year and I will see you back here immediately and I will not be as forgiving as I am today.

Phyllis: I understand, your honor. Thank you. Thank you.

Judge: Thank you, ms. Stevens. Mrs. Williams. Ms. Summers, you are free to go.

[ Christine sighing ]

Christine: You have been given a gift. Don’t squander it.

Phyllis: I won’T.

[ Phyllis sighing ]

Heather: It’s over, phyllis.

Phyllis: Oh, not yet.

Audra: Um, hey, just wanted to see if there were any updates? Um, how are things going? Did you push the idea to victoria?

Nate: I’m going in now, so you can ease up.

Audra: Look, I apologize for being so pushy when my future is on the line.

Nate: Look, let me handle this my own way. I’m proposing this idea because it’s a good move. That it gets you out of a jam is added benefit.

Audra: Look, it’s more than a jam. Adam could destroy my career if he lets out that tucker and i covered up a mccall scandal.

[ Sighing ] Look, I– I need to keep him happy.

Nate: Just give me some time.

Audra: All right, I gotta go. Keep me posted.

Adam: I hope you have some good news for me.

Audra: Sure, adam, have a seat.

Adam: Have you heard from victor? Have you reached out? Told him it’s a smart idea to merge newman media with adustus?

Audra: That’s pending.

Adam: That sounds more like stalling. Look, I want this handled and over with by the time nick, sharon and I officially launch the new company.

Audra: Trust me. I have a two-stage plan in the works.

Nikki: Oh, I heard from your father this morning. Things are progressing overseas.

Victoria: That’s good. I’m glad to hear that.

[ Knocking on door ] Come in.

Nate: Good morning, ladies. I am happy to see you both in one place.

Nikki: Oh, why is that?

Nate: There’s something I wanted to run by you.

Victoria: Oh, good. Well, have a seat.

Nate: I’ve been looking over the proposal of the adustus/kirsten launch. All the components of a restructured company.

Victoria: Yes, the official unveiling is on track to happen very soon.

Nate: I did a deep dive into some numbers last night. I think adam is correct in thinking that newman media and his new company with nick and sharon will be redundant in our new corporate scenario.

Nikki: Well, victor doesn’t see it that way.

Nate: I suspect that was just his initial reaction to a suggestion made by adam, whom we all know has wanted newman media for some time now. But… I think we should look into this. If we were to fold the two companies together, we’d have a powerhouse media company that would be unrivaled.

Victoria: Where is this coming from?

Nikki: Are you actually suggesting defying victor in this way? What has gotten into you?

Diane: Ah, abby! Good to see you.

Abby: You too.

Diane: Um, jack was showing me some videos of dom’s swimming lessons. He’s adorable.

Jack: Yeah, he’ll be keeping up with harrison in no time.

Abby: Yes, he’d love that. Um… you know, I came by first thing this morning because I spoke to my mom and she’s willing to meet with you and hopes to come to a detente, brokered by me.

Jack: As I told you, I’m willing to try.

Abby: Okay, but, for this meeting to work, it has to be just you, me and my mom. No one else.

Billy: Thank you for coming by to meet me–

Ashley: Sure.

Billy: Here at the office.

Ashley: I was kind of shocked that we were still allowed in the building.

Tucker: Speak for yourself. I never was.

Billy: So, I’m just gonna cut to the chase here. Um, I’ve considered your offer to work from the inside to help push diane to failure here at jabot.

Ashley: Mm-hmm. You would just be speeding along her inevitable fall and hopefully opening up jack’s eyes in the process.

Billy: True, but it will weaken jabot even if it is temporary. And for what, the two of you to take over?

Tucker: Mm-hmm. So, where do you stand? Can we count you in?

Billy: I have one question: What’s in it for me? With the freestyle libre 2 system.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Ashley: We figured you’d wanna know how you were gonna be getting repaid.

Billy: It’s a fair question, ash.

Ashley: Well, here’s my answer. Simply ashley will be a huge success.

Billy: Well, that’s good for you. And how does that benefit me?

Ashley: Diane will definitely weaken jabot.

Billy: With my discreet help.

Tucker: At which point, ashley and I will take over.

Ashley: It’s the only way to save our father’s company.

Billy: And by the same token, save jack from himself?

Ashley: Thank you. Hopefully. Tucker and I have talked about this, and it’s, uh, stupid and short-sighted to fold jabot into our company because of its extensive branding and history, so jabot will remain its own separate entity.

Tucker: Under the simply ashley umbrella.

Billy: Keeping jabot’s integrity intact is the number one thing here, but again… what is my payout?

Ashley: You’re gonna run jabot.

Tucker: ‘Cause you’d have to report to us.

Ashley: Our father’s company will be under your command, billy. And you won’t be under jack’s shadow anymore.

Tucker: It’ll be billy abbott, finally where he belongs. In charge.

Ashley: Come on, this is a huge opportunity. And our father would be so incredibly proud of you. What you’re willing to do to protect his legacy.

Billy: Well, I’m intrigued.

Ashley: Yeah, I kind of thought you might be.

Tucker: This is all contingent, though, on you coming through for us.

Ashley: Right. You’ve gotta give diane that gentle push to do what she does best.

Billy: I understand all that. Did it occur to you to come with this generous offer when all of this started?

Ashley: What’s the difference? We knew that we would get here eventually.

[ Billy chuckling ]

Billy: Nothing if not predictable, huh?

Tucker: Aren’t we all?

Ashley: Anyway, tucker and I have to go. We have a meeting with jack, actually.

Billy: Oh?

Ashley: Yeah. Abby’s trying to broker a truce. And knowing that you are on our side will change… my approach, so…

Billy: Well…

[ Clearing throat ] This is about protecting our family legacy, right?

[ Sighing ] I’m in.

Ashley: Yes. Yay.

[ Laughing ] You’re not gonna regret this. It’s all good. I’ll take to you soon.

Billy: Okay.

Ashley: Congratulations.

[ Billy exhaling ]

Jack: Even you seem to think the detente can only exist if diane is excluded.

Abby: It’s just for the meeting.

Jack: That is not going to happen. Ashley’s disdain for diane is the core reason for this war. That and her dangerous and absurd relationship with tucker mccall.

Abby: Well, she feels the same way about your marriage to diane.

Jack: Any achievable peace hinges on ashley’s ability to accept diane.

Abby: Uncle jack, I am just stating the obvious here, okay? If my mom walks in, her back will go completely up she sees that diane is part of the conversation.

Jack: Ashley.

Abby: Then, the whole thing is gonna be over before it even started.

Diane: I have to agree with abby. The only chance you have at having a peaceful conversation with ashley is if I’m excluded. My presence is only going to keep you from achieving that.

Jack: We are married now. You are part of my life forever. Ashley has to realize that’s not going to change.

Diane: I know. And I love you for always standing up for me, but there’s something else you need to consider.

Jack: And what is that?

[ Diane sighing ]

Diane: If you want peace with ashley, then this has to be a two-way street. If you want her to consider a truce with you, then you have to consider that tucker is a part of her life. Are you willing to do that?

[ Jack sighing ]

Nate: I do not wish to second guess your husband, nikki, but my instincts say this is a smart move. I believe it’s also wise to get you both on board before presenting it to him.

Victoria: I’m not sure he would even change his mind, regardless of our opinions. Plus, I don’t wanna give adam the satisfaction of winning.

Nate: Maybe you shouldn’t view this on a personal level, either. It’s good business.

Nikki: Anything involving adam is never a good idea. It’s best that he has his own company to manage.

Victoria: Yes, one that he can run into the ground all by himself.

Nikki: Yeah, and I’m sorry that nicholas is involved in that, but maybe he can keep adam in line. All right, I have a business meeting at society. I’ll leave the two of you to hash this out.

Victoria: All right, mom. I’ll fill you in later.

Nikki: Yes, please do. And just let me say, I agree with victor in leaving the two entities alone. Let audra run newman media and adam can… do whatever he’s going to do. Just keep it clean and separate. Otherwise, we’re asking for trouble.

[ Door closing ]

Victoria: I thought that we had things settled on this front. What even prompted you to look into it?

Nate: Now that the launch of adustus is impending, it became obvious to me that their company and newman media would be redundant.

Victoria: It’s still disrespecting my father’s wishes, no matter how you spin it.

Nate: I disagree. I’m looking at this in an ongoing and fluid way. And I’m not advocating we do anything behind victor’s back.

Victoria: Well, convincing my dad…

[ Chuckling ]

[ Groaning ] That would be a tall order. We’d have to have a strong case to get through to him.

Nate: Think about what this would mean for newman media and for you when it’s successful.

Victoria: You know, there’s something else that I don’t understand about this. Merging the two companies would possibly dilute and jeopardize audra’s power. Have you lost faith in her for some reason?

Audra: I have nate working on victoria to convince her of the merits of the merger.

Adam: Hm. Well, that’s– that’s a smart idea because if victoria will listen to anybody, it’s nate.

Audra: And, as you know, uh, victor is out of the country, and this conversation is best had face to face with your father, so that won’t be happening today.

Adam: Mm-hmm, yes, I see the logic in that as well, but time is running out. We’re set to announce the launch of our company next week.

Audra: Hm. How exciting.

Adam: And it’ll be a lot stronger if the announcement includes the merging of newman media, mccall and kirsten.

Audra: You know, I can see how this clearly benefits you, but in this scenario, what happens to me?

Adam: Wait, wait, why is that my concern?

Audra: Am I gonna be the one left out in the cold? Because that really dampens the incentive.

Adam: I thought that your incentive was to keep a certain scandal quiet. You know, the one where you covered up for tucker’s pr department. The rockstar who was exploiting underage girls?

Audra: Look, that is at the top of my list. If that ever got out, it could destroy my career.

Adam: Yeah, those emails of yours are pretty damning.

Audra: Look, what I did was a coverup of a coverup. It was after the fact. A horrible fact. I am not condoning what that man did.

Adam: Well, nobody would condone that.

Audra: Look, I have fought to get where I am. Look, I still wanna protect my business position.

Adam: Well, then I suggest you accomplish what I have asked of you.

[ Audra chuckling ]

Audra: You know what? I think you’re underestimating my abilities. I’m an excellent asset. And newman media has been doing outstandingly well under my leadership. You have to have noticed that.

Adam: Perhaps.

Audra: Provided I can convince victor, where will I land once you, uh, fold newman media into your new company?

Adam: How about you make it happen and then we’ll see where you land. Postmenopausal women with hr+ her2- I am in love with mixtiles. You just pull the adhesive off the back and stick it to any surface, and there’s no damage to your walls. Go to mixtiles.Com and pick sizing, filters and it really makes it fit the decor of your home. Order now and get up to 50% off. (Smelling)

Audra: You know, given your eagerness to push this forward, I think you need me as much as I need you.

Adam: Oh, yeah? Do I?

Audra: I’m willing to take the risk and call your bluff. I’ll help you if you promise me that–

Adam: What do you mean? Like, a pinky promise? Like cross my heart, hope to die?

Audra: In writing that I will maintain a power position within the new company’s structure. Otherwise, I’ll take my chances.

Adam: You know, you’re negotiating when you have zero leverage.

Audra: Actually, I have a few cards up my sleeve to help deal with the fallout if you do decide to release the damning information about tucker and me.

Adam: So, you’re giving me the go ahead to go public with this?

Audra: If you release those emails, you’ll make tucker an enemy for life. Now, do you really wanna do that? You know, when it can all be so easy for you if you just give me what I want.

Nate: My respect and support for audra has not wavered.

Victoria: Well, she will be glad to know that.

Nate: I’m just thinking big picture here. This is a good move. The two companies will be redundant. Financial waste, no upside. Adam wasn’t wrong.

Victoria: His motives are. He has his own agenda. He wants to take newman media away from me. He’s not happy that it’s slipped out of his control.

Nate: His personal fixations aside, the strength of the two companies as one is undeniable.

Victoria: Let me ask you something: What do you propose happens to audra if these two companies were to merge?

Nate: I’m not worried about it. We’d figure how she fits in the new scenario. She’s a driven team player. The more important factor is what’s best for newman enterprises overall.

Victoria: I’m gonna have to think about it. But your passion and your insight are… very inspiring, as usual.

Nate: Thank you.

Victoria: It’s an incredible turn on.

Nate: Is that so?

Victoria: Yeah.

Nate: Okay, so, um… what do you wanna do about that?

Victoria: Well, if I didn’t have this meeting with oslo in ten minutes, I would say that maybe we could slip away somewhere.

Nate: Mm-hmm. Then, I guess this will have to suffice.

Ashley: Hello.

Jack: Hi.

Tucker: Hi, jack.

Abby: Well, I am glad that everyone could make it, and I’m grateful that you’ve agreed to this sit-down. My only stipulation is that significant others need to leave.

Ashley: Why?

Abby: Well, if we’re gonna get anywhere, it has to be a sibling only conversation.

Ashley: Because our significant others are the source of the problem.

Tucker: No offense from me. Uh, I think you’re right. Diane’s and my presence would be a dark shadow over the conversation.

Jack: You are indeed the storm cloud in this situation.

Tucker: Jack, despite what you may think, I actually want the two of you to find peace as brother and sister, okay? I have a good feeling about this meeting.

Diane: So do I.

Tucker: Shall we try to broker our own detente? If you care to join me for a little brunch. I’m buying.

Diane: Fine.

[ Diane exhaling ]

Abby: Okay, um… where should we begin? Schwarzkopf keratin color

Tucker: Wow. Well, this takes remote work to a whole ‘nother level. Running the company from a bar? What do you got there? Vodka tonic?

Billy: Actually, tucker, it’s a club soda. As I wait for my food to come back from the kitchen so I can take that and then go back to the office to continue to work. Not that I have to explain anything to you. Let me guess, you two got ousted from the detente conversation?

Diane: No, we chose to leave to give ashley and jack privacy so they can hopefully work things out.

Billy: Mm, that was big of you. I’m glad that they’re trying because I’m sick and tired of the fighting. I’m sick and tired of… jack sacrificing the well-being of jabot in defense of you, diane.

Diane: Well, I’m sorry you feel that way, billy.

Billy: I’m sure you are.

Tucker: Well, maybe you should have a drink.

Billy: Let me tell you how this is gonna go for you, diane. You’re gonna push it too far. You’re gonna do that one thing that jack is not gonna be able to forgive or fix, and then he’s gonna realize that ashley was right about you the entire time.

Diane: My god, I am sick of all of you. And I am tired of having to prove myself to everyone but jack! I know who I am, what I’ve become, and I’m not gonna apologize to anyone anymore. So, think the worst of me. I don’t care. Excuse me, tucker. I’ve lost my appetite.

Nikki: Oh, great.

Diane: Oh, great.

Adam: I’m not afraid of tucker. And despite your bravado, I don’t think you would really take the chance of pissin’ me off. So, you’re just gonna have to trust that I will take care of you.

Audra: That’s not good enough.

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: What is it that you would want?

Audra: Well, I know I can’t expect to remain ceo of newman media because everything would be under your control, along with nick and sharon.

Adam: Yes, that is correct.

Audra: But I would wanna be second in command.

[ Adam laughing, muttering ] Why wouldn’t I deserve it if I’m the one offering the means for the merger? I mean, not to mention, I’m strong and smart.

Adam: And humble, too, apparently.

Audra: And I can be as ruthless as you would ever need me to be. So, why are we even arguing about this?

Adam: I would have to run it by sharon and nick, but I’m confident that I can convince them. Provided you can deliver.

Ashley: Abby, could I please have five minutes alone with jack?

Abby: Mom, I agreed to be the mediator to keep you and uncle jack from getting into another one of your yelling matches.

Ashley: I promise you, that’s not going to happen.

Jack: I’m not so sure about that. Tucker’s brutish callousness seems to have rubbed off on you. You’re not the sister I once knew.

Ashley: Well, I don’t know who the hell you are either, jack, because diane’s turned you into an insipid fool.

Abby: Okay, stop. This is why I cannot leave the two of you alone. Now, do we need to set ground rules? Does this need to be a true debate?

Ashley: What are you gonna do? Ask us a question and give us five minutes to answer?

Jack: That’s a bit much, don’t you think?

Abby: Look, I will do whatever it takes to broker some sort of truce between the two of you. Now, does it have to be that controlled?

Ashley: I’m gonna save you a lot of time. I don’t want anything from you. I don’t want anything from jabot. I will gladly walk away empty-handed if I can be done with you and diane. With cirkul, your water is deliciously flavored at the turn of a dial, with zero sugar and zero calories. And cirkul has over 40 flavors, so your water can be as unique as you are. Try cirkul at drinkcirkul.Com – look mom! – Wow!

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

What can you do

with sensitive skin?

Jack: So, you– you’re going to walk away willingly?

Ashley: Yep.

Jack: Since when?

Ashley: Since right now. Honestly, I can’t stand the thought of having another argument with you where I tell you how wrong you are, so congratulations, you wore me down.

Jack: Okay, so what’s the catch?

Ashley: There is no catch. Oh, by the way, this is happening because of tucker. You know, that man you hate so much. He’s been trying to show me the futility of this war.

Jack: Has he really?

Ashley: He has. For months. He’s been trying to convince me to walk away and start fresh. But I’ve been too pissed off at you, until now.

Jack: O– okay, I– I can’t argue that, if indeed there are no strings attached.

Ashley: Buy me out and we are done.

Jack: Okay, I can agree to that. In fact, I’m– I’m happy about this.

Ashley: Oh, are you really happy about it, jack? Maybe ’cause you’re getting everything you want.

Jack: I am happy because you were willing to try something new. I knew things had grown untenable between you and me, at jabot and at home, because of diane and tucker.

Ashley: Yes, they have. And I wanna move on.

Abby: What does this mean moving forward? With your relationship with uncle jack. As your brother.

Ashley: What does it mean, jack?

[ Victoria moaning ]

Victoria: You know, as much as I would love to continue this, I have to get ready for that video call.

Nate: Snap back to reality.

Victoria: Yeah.

[ Nate chuckling ] Well, you could check back later. Maybe we could go get a bite to eat after work, if you want to.

Nate: I’d like that.

Victoria: All right.

Nate: Please though, uh, think about what I said. About the merger.

Victoria: I will. But be forewarned, bringing adam that much closer is more problematic than you think.

Nate: I can handle adam. You won’t need to worry about him.

Adam: Look, I see your value and I appreciate what you bring to the business.

Audra: You know, I’d imagine we, uh, work well together. We could do great things.

Adam: You know, I don’t hold your actions against you, either. You protected mccall. Which means you put business and loyalty first.

Audra: Yeah, well, it wasn’t my proudest moment, but I don’t bite the hand that feeds me.

Adam: Well, keep me posted on how things are going. And if you can deliver, this could work out well for both of us.

Diane: I’m guessing you’re not going to congratulate me.

Nikki: You know, I am amazed by all you have managed to do. It seems you have achieved everything you set out to get when you came back to genoa city.

Diane: Yes, I have. And despite what you may think, I came back with the best of intentions.

Nikki: Well, you wanted your son’s forgiveness and you got it. Then you married the billionaire you’ve been chasing for decades and managed to drive a wedge between jack and ashley, while gaining a foothold into jabot. I’d really admire you if you weren’t so loathsome.

[ Diane sighing ]

Diane: Have a nice day, nikki.

Nikki: See ya, diane.

Tucker: How do you see diane’s downfall at jabot playing out?

Billy: I mean, she’ll feel emboldened. Especially after ashley walks away. She’ll start to push her own agenda. She’ll have a bunch of bad ideas that jack is gonna support, invest money in and man power because he’s clearly blinded by love. And I will be in her ear. Feeding her ego. Telling her to take more and more control.

Tucker: Knowing at the end of that rainbow is your pot of gold.

Billy: Which I am very grateful to you and ashley for.

Tucker: Yeah. Seems you and I aren’t that dissimilar.

Billy: I guess we both revert back to regular form, don’t we?

Tucker: Heh. Unless, of course, you got your own agenda.

Billy: Wouldn’t that beat the band?

Tucker: ‘Cause it does seem just a little bit too good to be true.

Nikki: What does? Family is just very important.

Jack: If you could just give diane a chance or maybe just stop attacking her and live and let live, I can do the same thing with tucker.

Ashley: I will try my best.

Jack: So, we have an agreement?

Ashley: Looks like we do.

Jack: I think we have both been beaten down by this battle.

Ashley: Yeah, it’s been devastating. I– I… I want it to end.

Jack: So do I.

Ashley: I just want to move forward with my plans without being so angry. You know, be excited about my wedding and my new business with tucker.

Abby: So, uncle jack, does that mean you’ll come to my mom and tucker’s wedding?

Jack: Well, that depends on your mother. Are you willing to accept my bringing my wife to your wedding?

Billy: Tucker and I were just marveling at the fact that we’d been able to find some common ground. A mutual distrust and dislike for diane.

Tucker: Hm. It’s a miracle.

Nikki: That woman can bring even the most distanced of people together.

Billy: Yeah. Since coming back from the dead, she sure covered some ground, hasn’t she? I personally think there’s a bigger play at hand here and I’M… I’m worried about jack. And jabot.

Tucker: And, uh, I’ve had it with all the fallout between jack and ashley. Their divide.

Billy: Look at that. Who ever thought we’d be on the same page about anything?

Tucker: In a million years.

Nikki: Take it from me, it’s never a good idea to trust that woman.

Billy: That’s a very good point, nikki. You do have experience with her. So… do you have any advice for us?

Nikki: Every plan to drive her out of town has blown up, causing trouble for everybody involved.

Tucker: Well, she’s not invincible.

Nikki: Well, look at phyllis. What battling diane did to her. I think that that’s just what happens. People go mad with rage and become their own collateral damage.

Tucker: Yeah, but don’t underestimate phyllis, either. She might have something up her sleeve for diane.

Nikki: All I’m saying is, there is no upside in doing battle with diane. And I hate to say it…

[ Nikki sighing ] But I have resigned myself to the sad fact that she is now a part of the fabric of genoa city.

[ Diane sighing ]

Audra: Hello, diane.

Diane: Audra. Have a seat. I know we don’t know each other very well, but I know that you and kyle have been working together and that you have a, um, personal relationship.

Audra: Yeah, kyle is– he’s such a good man. You know, he’s so kind.

Diane: Yeah, I’m really protective of him. So is jack. And we were both curious when we heard that the two of you were spending so much time together.

Audra: He’s in good hands. I mean, professionally, of course. You know, he’s a great addition to, uh, newman media. He’s managed to impress me, and, uh… I’m pretty tough to impress.

Diane: So am I. Kyle belongs at marchetti with his wife. He might not show it, but he’s still in love with summer.

Audra: Well, I can’t comment on whether those are kyle’s true feelings or not. I only know what he reveals to me.

Diane: [ Laughing ] Oh, and I’m sure he’s being completely honest with you.

Audra: Well, to me, he seems like he’s ready to move on. You know, maybe not just from his marriage, but… maybe his whole life.

[ Diane exhaling sharply ]

Diane: What are you implying?

Audra: Perhaps he needs a break from all of you. To find himself.

Diane: Kyle needs his family now. More than ever. I doubt he needs to align himself with you to find himself.

Audra: My intentions are sincere. I wanna help him if I can.

Diane: No, you seem like the kind of person who puts herself first. Not above using people as a means to an end.

Audra: Well, I just want to be there for kyle in such a difficult time in his life.

[ Diane exhaling sharply ]

Diane: I can imagine that after everything kyle has been through, he is running away from himself and you are there to help him hide from the truth. But eventually, that’s all gonna fall apart.

Adam: Okay, well, just email that to me then. Okay. Thank you.

Nate: Busy with the upcoming launch?

Adam: Uh, it’s nonstop. But it is all coming together. How are things? Is, uh, audra living up to your and victoria’s standards?

Nate: Don’t be coy. I know what you’re doing. I find it despicable.

Adam: Do you?

Nate: Manipulating a situation in order to get what you want? It’s pathetic.

Adam: Yeah, this coming from a guy who sold out his own family.

[ Nate exhaling sharply ]

Nate: I do admire your ingenuity.

Adam: Don’t act like you haven’t done the same thing.

Nate: Oh, I’m nothing like you.

[ Adam exhaling sharply ]

Adam: You go after what you want and you don’t stop until you get it. Case in point, you wanted a plum role at a big company in business. You wanted to date a powerful woman and you’re with victoria.

Nate: It wasn’t calculated. Look, I’ve worked hard for what I have.

Adam: You know, there is one significant different between us. I know who I am and I embrace it. You need to learn to do the same thing. Doctor. So I didn’t think I needed swiffer,

Jack: Well?

Ashley: I’m thinking.

Abby: Mom.

Ashley: Look, you’re my brother. In spite of everything, I love you. It matters to me that you’re at my wedding, jack. I mean, it signifies that you’ve accepted tucker and that you see us as a team.

Jack: I’m not happy about it, but– but I will always support you, ashley.

Ashley: If you can make that gesture, then I can make the same effort where diane is concerned.

Jack: That is all I wanted.

Ashley: Okay, I guess it’s settled.

Jack: Then we will be there. Dare we…

Ashley: Oh.

Jack: Come on.

Ashley: Okay.

Abby: Well, that was easier than I expected.

Ashley: I guess we were more in sync than I thought.

Nate: My meeting was canceled at the last minute, but I did book us a dinner reservation for later. So, it wasn’t a complete waste.

Victoria: Good. I had some time to think while you were gone.

Nate: About what?

Victoria: Your proposal for adustus and newman media. I think that your idea has merit, but I have one caveat.

Billy: Hey.

Ashley: Hey.

Tucker: Hey.

Ashley: Hi.

Tucker: How are we?

Ashley: Uh, jack and I are in a good place. So, nikki, are you coming to our wedding? I haven’t received your rsvp.

Nikki: Oh, we’re not sure if victor will be back from his trip by then.

Tucker: Aw. I’m sure he won’t wanna miss it.

Nikki: You know, I still can’t believe the two of you are back together, but something tells me that there might be some fireworks at the wedding.

Ashley: Oh, I don’t know about that. Jack and I were able to work things out.

Nikki: Hm.

Ashley: I think it’s all gonna be just fine.

Jack: Well, that went well.

Abby: Yeah, it did.

Jack: You don’t seem as happy as you ought to be. You wanted to bring your mother and me together, and you did.

Abby: Yeah, it just– it all happened so quickly. I can’t help but wonder if it’s just another ploy on my mom’s part.

Jack: I think you ought to give your mother the benefit of the doubt.

Abby: Yeah, I’m just gonna set it all aside. You know, there’s a lot to do. I have to get back to the house. But, um, you’re gonna be there, right?

Jack: Count on it. Hey. Thank you.

Abby: Oh.

Diane: Bye.

Abby: Bye.

Jack: Hey.

Diane: Hey. Mm. How did it go?

Jack: Ashley relented on everything.

Diane: What?

Jack: She only wanted me to buy her out of jabot. I think she is newly emboldened thinking she has billy in her back pocket.

Diane: Huh.

Jack: Hey, what’s that look?

[ Diane sighing ] You seem worried. What happened?

Diane: Well, when tucker and I went to society, billy was there. And– and he played his part perfectly, but…

[ Sighing ] Maybe a little too well.

Jack: What does that mean?

Diane: Do you think ashley has actually turned billy against us?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

the rescue, are you my fairy godmother?

[ Chuckles ] Your call came exactly at the right time. I had just gotten ice cream and wine out for myself because dante is still at work, scout’s with the q’s, and the boys are at some sleep– oh, you can have that — sleepover camp. So you’re in luck. I’m so excited to catch up with you. It’s been a really long week. I know, it has. Wait. Where are your kids? Well, bailey is with grandma and grandpa, and — georgie: No! Get away from me! James! Mom!

[ Door opens ] There we go. Oh, marshall. Hi. You’re just in time to join us. “Us”? Yes. Trina. She decided to move back in. That’s, uh — that’s, uh, great news, yeah. I know, I know, I know. She’s upstairs. She’s unpacking right now.

[ Sighs ] Let me go get her.

[ Chuckles ] Trina! Trina, honey, come say hi to your grandfather. Probably loud music.I’m gonna go get her, okay? Deanna, we’re monitoring my patient in 941 very carefully. Any changes, I want to be notified immediately. Yes, dr. Finn. Thank you.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Dr. Finn, I’m so glad you’re here. I need your help. Dante: Gun! Everybody down!

[ Gunshot ]

[ Breathing heavily ]

[ Sighs deeply ][ Door opens ] Are you okay?

[ Door opens ] Man: A nine-year-old metro

girl has a new lease on life s [ Gasps ] Mom, you scared me to death! You scared me.

[ Indistinct tv chatter ] What did you do to your face? What? Shh! What are you watching? “How to catch a killer!”

[ Doorbell rings ] Who is it? A-anna, it’s dante. Thank you for coming. Hey, yeah. Okay. When you said you knew where we should go, I really didn’t think you meant a place like this. I don’t know. We were talking about bensonhurst and the good old days, so I thought of this place.

[ Scoffs ] Reminds me of jake’S. Isn’t this the place that joss was with trina where you read them the riot act? Yes, and I don’t ever want her to know that I was here. Capiche? Capiche. Oh, god! Alright. I gotta go wash my hand. You’re gonna brave the ladies’ room? Can’t be worse than this. Would you get us a couple of beers? Okay.

[ Chuckles ] Hi. Could I get a couple bottles of el rey sol? Nice. But I figured you’d want a glass. You figured me wrong. And I figured you for some fun.

Thank you for coming out so late. Can I get you something? No, no, I’m good. Thanks. Alright. Any progress with the shooting at the metro court pool? Uh, well, I’ve got more questions than answers, so if you call that progress, then, yeah, we got a lot of progress. Okay, so you can’t definitively rule anything out? That’s kind of the gist of it. I mean, that gun came from the wsb, so looks like you’re the winner. But we also can’t rule sonny out as a target either. But that’s not why you called me here tonight. No. I said that I would call you if I got any new information. And I appreciate that. It’s not anything solid, but it — it could be another avenue that may or may not be related. Have you heard of a company called pikeman? I was under the impression that you don’t watch tv anymore.

[ Tv turns off ] I don’t, much, but I’ve been streaming this docuseries. It’s so good. But my internet went out, so I decided I would come here and see if yours worked. So, what’s so — so great about this show that you couldn’t wait for your internet to be turned back on? Oh! Are you kidding me? I’m in the middle of the finale. I couldn’t just be left hanging. Besides, it’s so much better to watch it on your tv rather than on my phone or my computer. I love you so much. I love you, too, mom. Thank you. And I-I always want you to feel welcome to be here anytime. But if you really do love me, you’ll let me know next time so I don’t walk in and have a heart attack and die.

[ Chuckles ] That’s very dramatic. But I’ve only been here for a half hour, and I — I didn’t think you would still be out this late running around. You didn’t? What’d you think, I’d be sitting in a rocking chair, knitting an afghan? That feels on brand.

[ Sighs ] I hope you had fun. I did. Oh, I did. I had a lot of fun. Wait. What were you doing? I was checking off something on somebody’s bucket list. I’m sorry about this next part. Could both of you come out here, please? Say hi to sam. Hi. Hi, sam. Hi. It’s good to see you both. What happened? She started it. He won’t stop touching my stuff. I thought grandpa mac got both of you to agree to a truce. She broke it! You don’t even know what a truce is! Do too! No, you don’t! Georgie, my room — now. Hopefully, this doesn’t take too long. What’s a truce? Well, it’s when you agree to end a disagreement or an argument. Wait. Is that ice cream? It looks like trina left a little note. “Gotta go out for a little while, and I’ll be back soon.”

[ Scoffs ] She got out of here pretty quietly. I hope she didn’t run to see spencer. I just — ugh. Look, don’t do that to yourself, mother. No. I know. I know. I am grateful that trina’s back. And when curtis gets out of rehab, we’ll all be under the same roof. I don’t think that’s such a good idea. You don’t think that curtis should move back here? No, I absolutely do. But I also think I should move out. Portia, I was planning on doing it before curtis was shot. Yeah, you were. But I was against it then, and I’m against it now. Marshall, curtis is gonna need you. He’s gonna need you now more than ever. And so do trina and I. We really do. Alright. You know I will do anything to support my family. Yeah. I know. And curtis and trina, they deserve that support from you. Yeah. I guess I’m just not sure… if I do. Is this about your dad? Yes. He’s going to rehab tomorrow, and I need to see him tonight to let him know that I’ll always be there for him and that I love him. I’d like to help you, trina, but — look. Okay. I know that he refused to let me see him since he found out he’s paralyzed. And my mom’s tried to explain it to me, and I think I understand. He’s proud. He’s a proud man, he’s a hero, and he doesn’t want me to see him like this. But he’s my father, dr. Finn. I know. I know, trina. I, uh… I just don’t want to get your hopes up. Look, please. Please. If violet asked someone to get her in to see you, wouldn’t you want someone to help her? Oh, I see you’re being transferred to rehab tomorrow. Your occupational and physical therapists…

[ Sighs ] …Say you’re in great shape. Never better. It’s not gonna be easy, but you’re strong and you’re gonna work hard, and you will adjust to your new situation. You can just say it, elizabeth. That I am going to have to adjust to spending the rest of my life… in a chair.

Well, it’s late, and you were fighting with your sister, so consider yourself lucky, kid. Why do you have a boy’s name?

[ Stammers ] Who said sam is a boy’s name? Everyone. Maxie: Okay. Oh, you got sam to give you ice cream. Just a little. Okay, well, georgie’s sleeping in my room tonight. Yay! Thank you, mommy! Okay, james, don’t eat all of that. He’s gonna eat all of that. We gotta move out, like, really soon. We’re all driving each other crazy. And by that, I mean they’re driving me crazy. Okay, um, I thought lucy was helping you find a bigger place. Yeah, she is. But every place I like, I get outbid. It’s a tough market right now. Tomorrow, I’m seeing two places that I never would have considered a month ago. But when james and georgie are going after each other all day and all night, it upsets bailey, and then she starts crying. And by the end of the day, I’m the one that’s crying. Okay, wait. I think I actually have a solution for you.

[ Rock music playing ] Is one of those for me? Uh, for a friend. Oh. I could be a friend. A very good friend. I bet. A friend who would betray me. Now, why would anyone in their right mind betray a beautiful woman like you? Someone did. Well, let me at him. I will defend your dignity to the death. Hey, maybe we should go someplace a little less noisy and further discuss this dilemma of yours. Uh, carly. I see that you have met eddie. I did. I met eddie maine. What are you doing here? This used to be just my kind of place. I-I figured I’d come in and check it out.

[ Chuckles ] Great. Great. I’m sure, uh, one of these guys would — would love to show you a good time. Meanwhile, your friend cary and I… carly.Carly. Carly. Beautiful name. Carly and i were just discussing the downside of betrayal… mm. …And, you know, getting to know each other. Right. You and I have already met. Right. Uh, if you could just give me one second. Excuse me. One second.

[ Mouthing ] Oh, my god! Um… I may be stating the obvious here, but is it possible that my husband is actually trying to pick up my best friend? Oh. I don’t think so. Hey, carly! I’m getting lonely over here. Oh, my god! You’re not gonna believe — no, no, no. Don’t tell me. It’s not like you’re gonna watch it, mom. Oh, my god. Are you watching it? My tv accidentally turned on, and I’m on episode three. Okay. You’re not gonna believe what happens. The — no! You are not gonna ruin this for me. I am amazed that you actually watched some guilty television. Well, if you’re amazed at that, you’re gonna be amazed at what I did tonight. Tell me. Are you gonna make fun of me? Yeah, probably. Okay. I threw hatchets — you know, axes — at a bull’s-eye. Targets.

[ Laughing ] Wait, what? Oh, that’s the place that sam went with dante. Oh, she said she loved that. Mm, it was really exhilarating. I bet. Mm. You know… I think it’s just human nature that something so basic is so satisfying. So, uh… who’d you go with? A friend. I’m gonna get something to drink. Do you want something? What’s that? Oh, sorry. Those are just my books from sam. “Finance and business management.” Is this your light beach reading?

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. I think sam was honestly shocked that I didn’t throw them at her. Pikeman? Is it a company in port charles? No, security defense contractors. And according to robert, they have ties with the wsb. Huh. What are they selling them? Weapons? Perhaps. The most interesting thing is that there’s this kind of revolving-door situation where pikeman recruits former wsb agents as operatives. Yeah, that’s kind of par for the course with those kinds of things. But you sure about this? Uh-huh. I mean, at first, I was…skeptical. That is, until I spoke to someone who was with the wsb who was recruited by pikeman and worked for them. Who was that? Valentin.

Is valentin still working for pikeman? No, no. This was years ago, when he was — when he first left the wsb. What was he doing for them? Logistics. Logistics, huh? That sounds like a euphemism for something. He was a contractor. Mm-hmm. Alright? And he worked for them on a project-by-project basis. He said that they didn’t allow him to get anywhere near the inner workings of the company. And they recruited him? Specifically because he had wsb prior experience. Where’s valentin tonight? I’m sorry.

Oh, carly

the night is young and what rhymes with carly?

Gnarly he is definitely hitting on you. And he’s definitely eddie maine. Did you doubt me? No. But now I’m absolutely certain, because he’s hitting on me right in front you. And ned quartermaine would never do that. Well, I guess… hey. …I should be lucky that he’s hitting on you instead of some floozy that would actually take him up on it. Okay. I-I-I should get back to eddie. Yeah, yeah. Go, go, go, go, go! I’m gonna figure out what he wants and try and point him back in your direction. Okay, well, hurry up before he decides that what he wants is that. Uh, that’s my spot. I like your style, carly.

[ Chuckles ] Didn’t wanna give up eddie, did you? Nope. Just trying to figure you out. Man: Wow. You look lonely. And hot. Actually, I’m surprised you didn’t throw these books at her. Mom. Well, she gave you that nice, pretty blouse. You threw it at her. It was pink. We know how I feel about pink. Still. Clearly, I am not throwing books at my sister. Thank you.

[ Chuckles lightly ] But you came over here to watch this show. I’m wondering why you brought the books. I thought… you were gonna burn the books in the fireplace, weren’t you? Dante and lulu’s house? It’s empty. And it’s been empty since he and rocco moved in with us. And dante doesn’t want to sell it, so I was just thinking that — lulu’s house? Okay. Alright. Maybe I didn’t actually think this through. But you said you needed a bigger space. No, no, it, uh — it makes sense. Hey, I know you miss lulu. Yeah, I — I do. You know, I don’t — I don’t get to see her enough. But when I do go visit her, I-I talk to her. I tell her about my kids. Everything that’s been going on. It’s been almost three years. I’m sorry. You don’t want to talk about this. No, no. It’s okay. It’s okay. You can talk to me about lulu. Rocco talks to me all the time about her. In fact, dante just took charlotte to go visit her. She is a part of our lives. I know that dante and rocco had to move on with their lives, and I’m

[Inhales deeply] I’m really happy it was with you. I know lulu would be happy, too. Thank you. And that means a lot. Especially — especially coming from you. But maybe it’s just probably a really bad idea. Maybe. I don’t know. It’s not good for a house to be empty for too long. No. That’s true. Do you think dante would be okay with me living there? I think that if dante decided that he wanted to rent the house, there’s no one else in the world he would rather rent it to than you. I don’t care whether you think you deserve my support or not. You have it.

[ Sighs ] I know. Let me finish. I made mistakes. Let me finish. You — you are my daughter-in-law. You are the mother of my beloved grandchild. And for that alone, that’s enough. But you know who else you are? Portia, you’re the one who made me realize I don’t have the genes for schizophrenia. And that changed my life. I did that for you. I-I did that as — as a doctor, and…

[ Sighs ] …I’m glad I could. But as your daughter-in-law and as trina’s mother, I just can’t help but feel like it’s my fault that curtis could end up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

[ Sobs ] Trina. You’re here late. Yeah, um… it was important for me to come. I understand. Cameron said he’s been in touch with you. Yeah, he has. He’s been so supportive. All of my friends have been. You must be really proud of him for already playing on the varsity soccer team. I am. Is there anything I can do to help you? Um…no, not yet. Dr. Finn is working on something for me.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Hey. Doc finn.

[ Door closes ] I heard you’re heading to rehab tomorrow. That’s what I’m told.

[ Sighs ] You’re visiting kind of late. I haven’t got any infectious diseases since I’ve been here, so I’m guessing you’re not here for any medical reason. Well, you know, when you’re a doctor, it’s hard to avoid that god complex where you want to be able to cure everyone. But you can’T. No. That’s the humbling part. I can’t cure you. But, uh, I can do something that I — I think will help.

Uh, olivia said you’re staying with the quartermaines. Yeah, for a few days. Before that, I was staying at my friend’S. Uh, sonny corinthos? You know him? Yeah. Um, everyone who lives around here knows him. Yeah, right. He’s a good guy. I just felt like I was crowding him. He’s got this gorgeous fiancée, nina. Mm. You know, um… now, you’re with the quartermaines, right? They’re nice people. Yeah. Yeah. They mean well. Leo — sweet kid. I really like him. I actually think he likes me, too. I’m sure he does. But olivia — she’s got it in her head that I’m her husband. And can you imagine me living with that overbearing, wound-up —

[ Foot stomps ] Ouch! Oh, sorry. I thought I saw a roach.

[ Winces ] So… since the quartermaines are good people, why aren’t you trying to get to know them? Well, because… they all want me to be someone that I’m not. So why don’t you help them understand who you are, and maybe they’ll learn to accept you? Okay. You say that like you think they would. Well, I actually know someone who went through something similar… and they learned to love him. Get your hands off me! Aw, come on. You know you want the attention. No. What I want is for you to get your hands off of me, or I promise you, I will make you sorry. Honestly, I think I’d like to be sorry with you. Get your — get away from me. No, mom, I wasn’t going to burn the books that my sister gave me. Sorry. It’s just that the books were here and the fireplace is there. Right. So you just, “oh, my spiteful daughter is gonna burn the books that my other daughter gave her.” Nah. Yes. I know that the two of you have not been getting along well since you showed her your plans and she got kind of… obnoxious and skeptical? Well, to be fair, you never really enjoyed any of the gifts that she gave you, except for the motorcycle jacket. But that’s not really a gift. Okay, I have every intention of returning that to her… someday when the timing is right. It’s funny, though. Sam’s never… given me anything like this before. Th at’s because she’s tryingto apologize to you. She knows she — she hurt your feelings when she got down on you about not having a permit or a business plan. Yeah, she did hurt my feelings. But she was also right. You threatened to throw gladys in the pool? Yeah, I would throw anyone in the pool if they talked to scout that way. And I just — I don’t trust that woman. Mm. I ran into her when I went to visit sasha. She told me the doctor was with her and I couldn’t see her. I ended up being relieved. Oh. Why? Well, brook lynn did see her, and she said sasha was really out of it. She was yelling and screaming, and I just — I-I don’t want to see her like that. Okay, wait. But when I saw her, and what everyone else said, she seemed to be pretty in control. Yeah. The last time she was at home & heart, someone put the sound of a baby crying in her earpiece, and she didn’t break. Okay, then what happened? I mean, you worked with her. If she was using on a regular basis, you would know, right? Definitely. And then she stabs cody out of nowhere. Drop it! Doc, I really don’t appreciate the ambush. God complex, remember? If medicine doesn’t work, go with what does. Get in there, kid. Thank you. Trina, it’s late. And I think maybe you should just — please. I know you don’t want me here. But I had to see you before you go to rehab tomorrow to let you know how sorry I am. Uh, there was a water main break over at elq, and it was quite close to the mainframe computer. So valentin went over there to check on everything and make sure that there was no critical information lost. Does he know you’re talking to me? No. Pretty shady-sounding company, this pikeman. I’m surprised that valentin would even admit to you that he had worked for them. Well, he didn’t at first. He doesn’t like to talk about his past, but I think he told me because he’s concerned about my safety. So you think pikeman had something to do with the attempt on your life?

I said, get your hands off me! Hey! You heard the lady! Oh, get lost, old man. This is what she wants. Is this what you want? No, you idiot. Hey, back off, now! Or what? Is there an “or what” with that?

[ Spectators cheering ]

[ Laughter ] You heard about the power shakeup over at the wsb, right? I heard some rumblings. Yeah. So, when frisco refused to authorize the drone strike in greenland, out of concern for our safety, he was relieved of duty. I did hear that he’d been replaced. Right. And it’s just been a domino effect ever since then. The new director got rid of anyone who was ever associated with robert or me. So, did you meet the new director when you were in london being debriefed? No. No, I didn’T. And, at first, I didn’t really think anything of it. And then, as it turns out, the agent who was debriefing me, he was droning on and on about procedure, and something caught my eye. Right behind him was his briefcase. And sticking out of the top of the briefcase was a portfolio. On the corner of the portfolio… was the pikeman logo. Marshall: There is no way that you are responsible for a stray bullet. You don’t understand. It’s all the years of lying. Everything I did, the way I handled everything, it just — it led to that moment. If I would have just been honest…

[ Sniffles ] …Curtis, trina, and I, we could have been together. We could have been a family.

[ Sniffles ] I mean, if I’d have just told him the truth when I came to port charles — no. No, portia. No. No. You don’t understand. Curtis — he came there to see me.

[ Breathes shakily ] He came there to make things right with me. Things that — that I made wrong. It’s because of me. Portia, it’s good — it’s good to take responsibility for your mistakes. But then… daughter, you got to move on.

[ Sobs ] Focusing on the “what ifs” and the — and the — and the “what might have beens,” that’s no way to live your life. We got to move forward. I just really don’t know if it’s — it’s too late for us. Curtis is gonna need you. He gonna need you to move forward. He’s gonna need his daughter. He’s gonna need his wife. And whenever — whenever that puts too much of a strain on you, I’m gonna be right here. I’m gonna be right here to help you with whatever you need. Okay. It’s gonna be alright. Okay.

[ Crying ] It’s gonna be alright. What in the world would you have to be sorry for? I took sides between you and my mom. When I found out that you kissed jordan…

[ Sighs ] …I got all high and mighty about it. You were just being protective of your mother. But I didn’t have to pull away from you. I love my mom, and I want her to be happy. And I know how much she loves you. And I just pray that you guys will be able to work things out. And if you and my mom do, or if you don’T…

[ Sighs ] …You’ll still be my father. Yes, I will. And we were just beginning… to figure all of this out before I pulled away from you. And I was just being so stupid and selfish, and I don’t want to be that person for you or for myself anymore.

[ Softly ] I know. Isn’t it so nice? Hopefully, it lasts past 5:00 A.M. Wait, that early? Mm. Sometimes it lasts till 5:30. Okay, well, I’m gonna be out of your hair soon. I just called dante, and he’s gonna be here in like 20 minutes. No, that’s too soon. Aw! It was so good to see you and spend time with you, an actual adult. The jury is still out on that one.

[ Chuckles ] Hey, how’s molly doing? She’s good. Actually, back to normal. And kristina? Uh, not so much back to normal, actually. You sound like that’s a good thing. Because it is. You know I love my sisters both so much, but kristina has, uh, been a handful sometimes, you know? And now? Now, she’S… actually pulling her life together. You actually sound proud of her.

[ Chuckles ] It’s because i am. Okay.

[ Glasses clink ] You said, “sam is right.” I heard it. You can’t take it back. Mom, I-I can admit when I’m wrong. Mm, not usually when it comes to one of your sisters. Sam was right. She — you know, she had some strong points in the beginning. I just didn’t want to hear them because it’s coming out of her mouth. But she was. She — she told me that I really could have benefited from logistics and planning and not just focusing on the end result. And the books? The books have been very helpful. But more than that, I just… I appreciate them because it makes me feel like she cares about me. She does care about you. She loves you. And I love her. And molly. And I love you and sam and molly. Although we do argue a lot, which I think is healthy. Mm… so, now what? Now, I’ve gathered a lot of very valuable information on, you know, logistics and setup. Feels good. Mm. This project feels really important, and…I’m gonna finish it. I am.

[ Chuckles ] Aww! That’s my good, little baby girl.

[ Chuckles ] Trina, you have never been selfish, and you’re far from stupid. But I pulled away from you. Well, I pushed you away, and I realized I shouldn’t have done that. I understand. Well, then, you’re far ahead of me. I still haven’t figured out how I’m gonna handle being…

[ Inhales deeply ] Yeah. What’s it gonna mean? I keep thinking about how it was in greenland. Scary. Yeah. But I was able to protect my daughter, to rescue her, and to be the father that you need. And you are still the father that I need. And you always will be. I have no doubt about it. Remember the first words you said when you woke up after surgery? I need…my daughter. And I’m here. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.

[ Telephone rings ] Ninth floor. Yes, he’s right here. Dr. Finn, it’s about your patient. Yes? See what O.R. Is available, and page dr. Everett. I’ll be right there. So, what we’re saying here is that the wsb is in bed with pikeman on one of their investigations? We know what they’re capable of. At least, what they were capable of. Mm-hmm. And now, with these new people in charge, all bets are off. Or that logo thing that you noticed was just a coincidence. Oh, right. Like a swag gift or something? Yeah, a swag gift. Yeah. No. I mean, think about it. If the bureau has access to a private entity like pikeman, what’s to stop them using it to further their own political agenda?

[ Stammers ] But don’t the wsb want deniability? Why would they give pikeman a gun that they knew that we could trace? Like, that’s risky. Yes, of course. Getting into — getting involved with — with — with a private security contracting company like — like pikeman? Even for someone as covert as the wsb. But they’ve always worked with risk since the beginning of their existence, because it pays off. I can see that this theory has gained a lot of traction with you. But there’s a lot of holes. There are, which is why you called me. Right. I will go to the pcpd and check in with some contacts and see if I can get any more info on pikeman and try and connect them to you and sonny. I’ll let you know what I come up with. I’ll keep it on the down low. Yeah. Thanks. Good. Hey, thanks for keeping me in the loop. It — it feels good. You should keep doing it.

[ Laughs ] I will. I promise. Alright. Come on, I’ll see you out. Uh, you, uh, have a good night, okay? Yeah, you too. Thanks for coming. Yeah.

[ Door closes ]

[ Spectators cheering, laughing ] Olivia: Oh! Well, to the victor… you’re with me, honey. Get your hands off of me! Ooh! Who the hell do you think you are?! Beat it! How many times do I have —

[ Glass bottle shatters ]

[ Screams ]

[ Spectators groan ]

[ Shakily ] Oh. Hey. Ow. Are you okay? Honey?

[ Groaning ] You okay? Did I get him? Oh. [ Chuckles nervously ] Yeah, you got him, alright.

[ Relaxing music ]

Liam: So, uh, I have this, um… epiphany that I don’t have to deny my feelings for you anymore. Or our history. Something like that doesn’t just go away when I close my eyes, right? Yeah, I– I shared a life with Hope. We– we have an incredible daughter. Uh, and that is its own love story, but… sadly, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to work out. And– and I also know that things are really complicated for you and Finn right now and at the end of the day, I just– I just want you to be happy, whatever that looks like. I guess I– all I’m saying is… if I got another chance with you… if… I’d never let you go again.

Ridge: Come on, Finn. What’s going on? What are you thinking?

Finn: Ridge, it’s more complicated–

Ridge: Complicated? How is this complicated? This is the opposite of complicated. This is super simple. Some crazy lunatic tried to kill your wife. She almost killed you. And for some reason, you went out of your way to hug her after she got acquitted. It’s not complicated. It’s just dumb and I just– I don’t know. I thought you were smarter than that. Now, why would I think that? Maybe you’re not because you left a little girl on the beach. You turned your back on her, took a phone call. She almost drowned because of you. And– and now you– you’re sitting there and you wonder why your wife took the kids and left you? I’m not– I’m not wondering about that at all because it’s not complicated. It’s very simple.

Hope: Let’s see the movement. Yes. Awesome. Wonderful. What do you think?

Brooke: It’s absolutely gorgeous. It really adds to the collection.

Sloane: I agree. So exciting to be a part of Hope For The Future these days. The buzz is incredible.

Hope: Well, it has been a wild ride, that’s for sure.

Brooke: To put it mildly.

Sloane: No doubt you and Thomas make an incredible team.

Hope: All right, I sent the notes to alterations, so they should be expecting you.

Sloane: Sounds good. Thank you.

Hope: Don’t let what she said about me and Thomas, you know, get in your head. Doesn’t mean anything.

Brooke: Of course not.

Hope: Thank you.

Brooke: But I do have to ask, where do things stand between you and Thomas?

Hope: Well, I don’t think you have anything to worry about because my main focus is the success of my line.

Brooke: Yeah, I can see that. And you seem to be handling signing those divorce papers with Liam rather well.

Hope: It hasn’t been easy, Mom. But I’m just trying not to let it get me down.

Finn: I take full responsibility for what happened to Kelly at the beach, okay? You have no idea how guilty I feel about that.

Ridge: All right, take a breath. She’s okay.

Finn: Yeah.

Ridge: And you know better. You don’t turn your back on young kids on the– you know that, right?

Finn: I just… I screwed up. Horribly. And nothing like that will ever happen again. And when it comes to the courthouse with– with Sheila, I just… I don’t know, I just– something came over me and–

Ridge: All right. I understand part of that. I mean, look. She’s your birth mother. You have a connection. But you got to learn to step away from her. It can’t be a problem. Can’t be a problem for your life, for your family. Look what it’s doing to your relationship.

Finn: It’s a problem. But look, it can be solved, right? Between Steffy and me. You want to know what the real threat to my marriage is? It’s not just Sheila. It’s Liam… wanting to be with my wife.

Steffy: Liam, we’re always going to have a connection. I must admit though, I’m a bit shocked that you actually said that to Finn.

[ Liam laughing ]

Liam: Yeah. Well, wasn’t going to lie because I don’t think I’d be any good at it. Never had a great poker face when it came to you.

Steffy: Finn’s never going to stand by.

Liam: I know. And I don’t blame him because neither would I. Here’s what I’m saying. If given another chance… Steffy, I’d never take my eyes off you again.

Hope: I understand that Steffy moved out in order to protect her kids, but that is still a really big step to take.

Brooke: The threat of Sheila is too strong to ignore. Plus, what happened with Kelly almost drowning under Finn’s watch… Ridge was really upset.

Hope: Uh, yeah, I am not exactly surprised that he went to go confront Finn about that.

Brooke: I just hope it doesn’t make things worse between Steffy and Finn.

Ridge: So, you think Liam is responsible for what’s happening here?

Finn: He took a video of Sheila and me. Who does that? Someone looking to cause trouble did hdo with it? Did he– did he come ask me about it? No, he ran straight to Steffy and showed it to her.

Ridge: Maybe because he was concerned about her safety. Kelly’s safety.

Finn: Okay. Maybe that’s part of it, but Ridge, his ultimate goal is to undermine my marriage. It is. And I– I– I– I’m sorry that Liam and Hope’s relationship is falling apart, but that doesn’t give him the right to come make a play for my wife.

Ridge: I just had an idea. How about this? How about you take some responsibility? It’s nothing to do with Liam. It’s just everything to do– look at me! This has everything to do with you. You brought your birth mother back into the mix for whatever reason. That’s what pushed Steffy away. Not– nothing else. Wake up, get out of this little pity party you’re doing and try to fix whatever’s left of your marriage.

Steffy: Liam, I– I don’t know what to say. But we’re both married. You and Hope, you signed divorce papers. Yes, I’m– I’m separated from Finn, but that–

Liam: Hey, Steffy. This isn’t just some knee jerk reaction to the end of my marriage. It’s really not. I buried my feelings for a long time and not to pat myself on the back, but I buried them well. But I get to look at you now… freely, without my Hope goggles. And I can see the same strong, smart, beautiful, talented, charismatic force of a woman that I used to be able to see.

Steffy: Liam.

Liam: Why the hell did I let you go? Why did I do that? [ Chuckles ] I don’t know. And I don’t know what the future holds. I really don’t. All I’m saying is that if I ever got another chance, Steffy, I would hold you so tight and I would never let you go. I would make sure that you and Kelly and Hayes are safe and protected. I would make sure that you feel heard and respected… and know… that you are loved.

Hope: I completely understand why Ridge would go to Finn in defense of Steffy and her children. I mean, that’s his daughter. I mean, he– he’s a grandfather.

Brooke: Yeah, I– I love how Ridge protects his family. I just hope that he doesn’t push so hard that it makes it more difficult for Finn and Steffy to work things out.

Hope: Well, that’s always a risk, I suppose, but I mean, Mom, there was no stopping Ridge.

Brooke: And I can understand that. Finn cannot allow Sheila to get close to them or to any of us.

Hope: Well, guess now, Liam has also vowed to look after Steffy and the kids, so.

Brooke: Liam and Steffy do share a daughter together, so it makes sense that he would be concerned, especially after what happened at the beach.

Hope: No, and I– I don’t disagree. I– I– I think that’s a great thing. It just is another reminder that Liam is always going to be a part of Steffy’s life.

[ Liam sighing ]

[ Knocking on door ]

Ridge: Hey.

Liam: Hey. Uh, your timing is not the best. My dad is, uh, out of the office today.

Ridge: That makes my timing perfect because I don’t need to see your dad ever again.

[ Both laughing ]

Ridge: I’m here to see you.

Liam: Okay.

Ridge: Talked to Steffy. She told me what’s going on.

Liam: Oh, okay. So, she told you I’m a bit freaked out that Finn’s letting Sheila back in his head again. Here’s– here’s the thing for me. That hug at the courthouse, which I assume you know about.

Ridge: Yeah.

Liam: That sent a message to Sheila that directly impacts the safety of my daughter, so I– I don’t know what the hell he’s thinking.

Ridge: I asked him the same thing.

Liam: Maybe you got through to him.

Ridge: Maybe I did. We’ll see.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Liam: I don’t know what the future holds. I really don’t. If I got another chance at it, Steffy, I would hold you so tight and never let you go.

[ Knocking on door ]

Finn: Hey.

Steffy: Hi. I just– I needed to see you. Uh, you haven’t answered any of my calls, any of my texts. I’m worried, Steffy. And I– I missed you.

Steffy: I miss you too, but this is the best option for all of us.

Finn: Okay, look, there’s– there’s some things that I need you to hear, okay? So please for me, for us, for our family, would you just– will you just hear me out?

Liam: So, I take it, Finn wasn’t super open to your take on the matter.

Ridge: I don’t really care if he’s open or not. I said what I had to say. This is not about him. This is about Steffy being safe and she did the only thing that you could have done.

Liam: Yeah, I agree.

Ridge: It’s my daughter, my grandkids. Not going to sit here and pretend that they’re going to be safe in the house with Sheila sniffing around.

Liam: Yeah, this is– this is what’s driving me nuts. It’s not a mystery why Sheila is dangerous. Finn does not have to have this explained to him. And that the– this is why I took the video of Finn and Sheila at the courthouse because the fact of the matter is Steffy wouldn’t have believed it if she hadn’t seen that. I wouldn’t have believed it. And I get it. She’s– she’s his wife. She loves him. She wants to defend him at all costs. I just made this mistake, so I understand, but in this case, you know, we’re talking about an actual psychopath.

Ridge: That’s exactly what she is, and honestly, she should be in prison right now just rotting away and we’ll make that happen eventually, but right now, it’s about Steffy and her safety.

Liam: Yes. Uh, thankfully she got the kids out of there and she’s at Eric’s, so that’s good.

Ridge: That’s where she needs to be. Do– am I the only one that thought that Finn was smart? Because for some reason, he doesn’t think that he’s part of the problem. He thinks you’re the only problem because you’re trying to destroy his relationship.

Liam: Yeah, I, uh, I know he thinks that.

Ridge: Oh.

Liam: Listen, if there’s anything I can do to help, I– I’m here, you know.

Ridge: Thank you.

Liam: You shouldn’t have to thank me, I’m family.

Ridge: Can I ask you something?

Liam: Uh-oh.

Ridge: No, it’s fine. How do you feel about my daughter? Really?

Steffy: Sorry I haven’t responded. Just… I don’t know what to say.

Finn: Look, I understand and I, uh… I respect your decision. I just couldn’t stay away any longer. I had to see you. How are the kids?

Steffy: They have no idea what’s going on. They think they’re just here spending time with their great-grandfather.

Finn: I miss them a lot and… I miss you.

Steffy: I won’t put my kids in danger. Not when Sheila is out there. I will protect them.

Finn: Steffy, you know I would never let anything happen to the kids.

Steffy: I know you want to believe that.

Finn: It’s true. I mean, do you have any idea what this is doing to me?

Steffy: I’m suffering, too. Our family’s torn apart.

Finn: I know. I’m sorry. And it just… yeah, this is– this has been hell for both of us. But look, Steffy, we got to work together, okay? We have to fix this.

Steffy: You need to accept that we’re in this place because of Sheila.

Finn: You– you’re right. You’re absolutely right. It’s my fault. I know that you don’t want me to have anything to do with Sheila and you have every right to be concerned and on guard, but this, Steffy? This, living here away from me… that’s not only about Sheila, it’s about someone else, too. Your ex-husband. Honey, Liam is trying to get in your head and take advantage of the situation to get you back and I’m not going to let him. I’m not going to let him suck you back into all that. I’m going to fight for our marriage and I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that he doesn’t destroy our family. I’m never going to stop fighting.  I’m never going to give up because I love you too much to ever let you go. And I can see that you still love me, too. I can see it in those eyes. I’m not going to let Liam interfere in our marriage. I will not lose you, Steffy.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Alexis: I can’t believe it. I ca– that son of a — he — he got away with it.

Gregory: What are you talking about?

Alexis: No, come over here. Lookit.

Gregory: Who got away with what?

Alexis: Look at this. Look at this. Senator Wilkins, he was acquitted on all counts.

How’s that even possible? He was caught red-handed.

Yeah, ’cause he’s got good lawyers.

No, he’s got — he’s got clever lawyers. He’s got expensive lawyers, because he can afford to pay for expensive lawyers.

Alexis: Oh, this makes me so freaking mad! Not to mention… this is the height of injustice. …Inept prosecutors. Right. Yeah. They were so sure they were gonna win. And they underestimated the opposition.

Alexis: Aah! This makes me so mad! I-I just want to —

Gregory: What?

Alexis: [ Sighs ] I want to break something.

Gregory: Why don’t you?

[ Knock on door ]

Olivia: Come in.

Carly: Hi, there.

Olivia: What can I do for you?

Carly: [ Exhales deeply ] Wow. It’s so weird being in my old office.

Olivia: I’m sure it is.

Carly: Surprised Nina hasn’t taken it over.

Olivia: [ Chuckles ] I would never let that happen.

Carly: Thank you.

Olivia: You’re welcome.

Carly: I heard about everything going on since Ned left the hospital. And I-I just want to say I’m so sorry. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.

[ Clears throat ]

[ Knock on door, door opens ]

Marshall: Knock, knock. How’s it going?

Curtis: Whatever you do, don’t ask me how I’m doing.

Marshall: Of course. Of course, but, uh, if you change your mind and you decide you want to tell me, I do want to know. One thing I know without you telling me is that time drags in the hospital.

Curtis: Yes, it does. Pop, I couldn’t even watch the big fight tonight. You know why? Because I couldn’t stand to watch those athletes in peak physical condition or even the audience all active and energetic while I’m sitting here doing nothing.

Marshall: Maybe you need to stop thinking about what you can’t do and — and focus on what you can do.

Curtis: [ Sighs ] Like what?

Marshall: [ Scoffs ] [ Chuckles ]

Portia: You can try all you want to push me away, but it’s not gonna happen. We’re husband and wife, and we are in this together, no matter what the odds are, no matter what life throws our way.

[ Lock disengages ]

Portia: [ Sighs ] Sweetheart! You’re home!

Trina: Is that okay?

Portia: Of course. It’s more than okay. It’s the best news I’ve had in a long time.

Jordan: Dante, what are you doing in here?

Dante: Hey. You know, it gets noisy in the squad room. I thought I’d come in here and try and, uh, focus.

Jordan: Ah. Well, what are you working on?

Dante: Look at you. I thought you hung up your commissioner badge for the deputy mayor spot.

Jordan: I did. I did. But, uh, it doesn’t mean I can’t be curious about something.

[ TV shuts off ]

Sonny: Okay, peanut. I liked the movie.

Avery: Me too.

Sonny: But now you got to, you know, brush your teeth, go to bed.

Avery: Can’t I stay with you?

Sonny: All right, five more minutes.

Avery: [ Giggles ] Yay!

[ TV turns on ]

Olivia: Nina, what can I help you with?

Nina: I just wanted to thank you for this morning. But we can talk about it another time, Olivia. Good night.

Olivia: Good night.

Carly: What was that about?

[ Door closes ]

Olivia: I’m helping Nina and Sonny plan their wedding.

Alexis: I won’t say that — that breaking this or that or sweeping my arm across the whole desk wouldn’t feel cathartic, because it would. And I-I want to. But then my office would be all messy and I’d be the one that would have to clean it up. So I’m not gonna break anything. I’m just gonna calmly walk away and not read another word about that miserable son-of-a that’s making me crazy.

Gregory: You took my suggestion way too literally, Alexis. I wasn’t suggesting that you destroy your office. I have a much better idea.

Alexis: Axe throwing? Don’t you think it’s a — it’s a bit violent?

Gregory: It’s not violent. It’s a sport. Hm. And I’m guessing it’s gonna be pretty cathartic in helping you unload all that frustration.

Alexis: You’ve done this before?

Gregory: No, but my sons have. And any time Finn and Chase agree on something, I have to give it a try. They say it’s very satisfying. Besides, it’s something on my bucket list.

Alexis: You have a bucket list?

Gregory: Actually, I have two. Great hit.

[ Indistinct talking on TV ]

[ Ringing ]

Dante: Hello?

Sonny: You watching the fight?

Dante: Uh, no, no, I’m — I’m still at work.

Sonny: You’re missing out. Ferrari’s killing him.

Dante: W-wait. Don’t tell me anything. I’m recording it.

Sonny: Okay, I won’t — I won’t spoil it for you. Why are you at work?

Dante: I’m just trying to get through some cases.

Sonny: All right. Um… I’ll talk to you soon, then.

Dante: All right. Good night. It’s my dad. Fight night. It’s a good fight.

Jordan: So, any updates on The Metro Court pool shooting? The one that paralyzed Curtis?

Dante: Nothing much so far. We just have more questions than answers.

Curtis: You brought a deck of cards. No doubt to play Go Fish . Pop, you know that’s a kids’ game.

Marshall: Well, the way I remember it, this was your favorite game to play as a boy. That and checkers, although you weren’t very clear on the rules. You had this tendency to always declare yourself a winner, even when you weren’t.

Curtis: Oh, I don’t know about claiming I was a winner, but I’ll tell you this. I sure loved jumping those pieces across the board.

Marshall: You sure did. According to Trina, there’s an app on your phone that you can play checkers. Of course, you can’t pick up the pieces, I guess what’s the point, right?

Curtis: Exactly.

[ Laughs ]

Curtis: [ Chuckles ] You know, Pop… I remember when I was a kid sitting across from you, looking up at you laughing exactly like that. [ Sighs ] I loved — I loved hearing you laugh. But what I loved even more was spending time with you.

Marshall: I’m sorry, son. I deprived us both of so many years being apart.

Curtis: You know what, Pop? None of that even matters now. You were there when I was a kid, and you’re here — you’re here now. And I couldn’t be any more thankful.

[ Laughs ]

Portia: And Spencer is here, too, I see.

Spencer: [ Chuckles ] Hi, dr. Robinson. Um…yeah, well, when Trina asked for my help moving back home, of course I said yes because I knew how much it was going to mean to you to have her living with you again.

Portia: Trina, honey, I am so sorry, but I have been using your room as extra storage while you were gone.

[ Laughter ]

Portia: So I’ll make sure to remove all those extra books and towels a little bit later, okay?

Trina: Oh, that’s okay. It’s no big deal. I’ll help you move them right now, okay? I’ll be right back.

Portia: Okay. Okay.

Spencer: Okay, well, I’m gonna take this stuff up to Trina’s room.

Portia: That won’t be necessary, Spencer. I’ll take it from here.

Carly: You’re planning Sonny and Nina’s wedding. Wow. I mean, to be honest, I can’t believe they had the audacity to ask you to do that.

Olivia: They didn’t ask. I offered. And it’s not what you’re thinking. I’m not so much doing it for Nina and Sonny. I’m doing it for me. Carly, I need a distraction. I got to get my head off all things Quartermaine.

Carly: I understand that.

Olivia: I can’t stop obsessing over Ned. You know, I look at him and I see my husband, and then he opens his mouth… and he’s Eddie Maine. And [Sighs] Being in that house — my home — it’s unbearable.

Carly: I’m so sorry, Olivia.

Olivia: Luckily, luckily, Michael is taking care of all things Quartermaine, all things aurora. And Leo, I mean, somehow, that kid is able to comprehend that Eddie is not his dad better than I can, but…he still misses his dad. And how can he not? And now Tracy… [ Chuckles ] Tracy is trying to get Ned committed.

Carly: What? That’s so extreme.

Olivia: You think? And then just when I think I’m getting somewhere, I turn my back and he completely disappears.

Carly: How can I help?

Olivia: How can you even offer that after the way I treated you?

Nina: Hey. What you reading about?

Sonny: Just reading the post-fight commentary on the fight I just watched.

Nina: Oh.

Sonny: Yeah.

Nina: You got a little smile on your face. I’m guessing that your guy must have won.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, he did. It makes me very happy ’cause it went down to the wire. It was a great fight ’cause I hate it when, like, you know, a fight is about uneven — the one guy’s just pounding on the other guy. Yeah. It’s, you know — it’s like I want it to be more competitive… right. …More like — like a dance. You’re not interested in boxing.

Nina: [ Laughs ] As a sport in a whole? No, not really. But anything that makes you so excited and makes you smile means a lot to me.

Dante: The, uh, working theory on the pool shooting is that the target was either Anna or Sonny.

Jordan: That’s two different ends of the spectrum. One spent most of her life fighting crime, while the other spent his life as a criminal.

Dante: Yeah. Here’s the thing, though — the gun that was used was traced back to a storage locker at a WSB facility in berlin. But there’s no prints. Can’t trace the bullets or the shooter.

Jordan: Hmm. What is the WSB saying about the gun?

Dante: Well, they said it was a break in a security breach and they didn’t know how it happened. But there’s no leads, no suspects.

Jordan: Don’t you find it odd that they’re not showing more interest, especially given that Anna was a former agent for them?

Dante: Yeah, except that it sounds like the WSB is washing their hands of Anna Devane.

You got a two?

No. Go Fish .

Curtis: [ Sighs ] So, what’s up with your band?

Eight. You got any eights? Thank you.

Well, we played a couple of gigs around town, plus, there’s a club in Brooklyn that’s showing some interest.

Curtis: Well, it sounds exciting.

Marshall: Yes and no. I don’t think it’s a good time to leave town. Plus, the owner of the club is lowballing us, of course.

Curtis: Well, if they’re lowballing you, why are you still considering it?

Marshall: Well, they can expose us to a brand-new audience. And you know I can talk about the music business for hours. Why don’t we talk about what we’re both thinking? [ Exhales deeply ] I’m wondering what’s gonna happen to you, son.

Curtis: [ Sighs ] I’ll be honest with you, Pop… I’m wondering the same thing.

Oh-ho.

[ Chuckles ]

I don’t know how the story goes I don’t know how the world unfolds but I know you’re right here with me

[ Laughs ]

I don’t know what tomorrow brings I don’t know much of anything but I know you’re right here with me know you’re right here with me oh, you’re right here with me whoo! Whoo-hoo! Oh, you’re right here with me

[ Both laugh ]

These are the best days of our lives the best days of our lives

[ Both chuckle ]

Sonny: So, who gave you that ring?

Nina: Oh, this one? This little thing? Oh, just some guy. He said he wants to spend the rest of his life with me.

Sonny: Yeah, well, he seems like a smart guy, you know? He’s, uh, showing you how committed he is by putting a ring on it. [ Chuckles ] Why were you late?

Nina: [ Laughs ]

Sonny: Where were you? What were you doing?

Nina: Oh, um… well, I wanted to stop by Olivia’s office and talk to her about wedding plans, but when I went there, she was in her office with…

Sonny: Carly.

Carly: Olivia, you’re in the middle of a crisis, and you snapped at me. [ Sighs ] I get it. In some of the worst times of my life, you have been there for me, and I have come to depend on your friendship, so we’re good.

Olivia: Oh, that just makes me feel worse. Carly, I-I was so overwhelmed with worry that — that Ned was never gonna wake up, that I was gonna be stuck forever with some confused middle-aged rocker, but… but none of that is any excuse.

Carly: Hey, I appreciate your apology, I do. But who else were you gonna dump on? Tracy? [ Chuckles ] You were terrified. And I’m tough, I can take it.

Olivia: Yeah, but you shouldn’t have to.

Carly: Hey. You’re my best friend, and we’re always gonna have each other’s back. And I so appreciate that and I need that. And besides, I come with limitations. You know, I can’t make you a lasagna… [ Laughs ] …Or even make a simple casserole, but what I can do is promise you that I will always be there for you no matter what.

Olivia: Thank you.

Portia: This is always gonna be Trina’s home… no matter what. No matter how old she gets, when she’s done with college, I’m always gonna be here for her. So I am more than capable of helping her move back into her room. So…

Spencer: Yeah, yeah, of course. Dr. Robinson, I completely understand that. I’m just — Trina asked me for my help moving back in, so I think that she’s expecting me to stick around.

Portia: I understand that, you know, I really do, but since my husband is in the hospital and he’s currently paralyzed, I kind of would like some one-on-one time with my daughter. I just don’t think you understand how much I really worry about her. About Trina’s safety and her security.

Spencer: Yeah. Well, my Uncle Victor is dead, so that threat is gone.

Portia: I wish the Cassadines were the only thing I needed to worry about, though. Curtis was shot by a ricocheted bullet at The Metro Court pool, of all places. A place where we should all feel safe, right? And the police say that they think there’s a possibility that the bullet that wounded my husband was meant for your other uncle, Sonny Corinthos.

Jordan: Right before the shot rang out, I remember seeing Anna having a conversation with your dad. Do you have any idea what they were talking about?

Dante: Well, look, I mean, they’ve known each other forever. I mean, they could have been talking about anything. Maybe she was filling Sonny in on what robin’s up to, or — or maybe they were talking about this stuff she’s been going through with the WSB.

Jordan: How is Anna handling that?

Dante: Honestly, I don’t think she’s doing very well. I mean, who would be in that situation, after being put through what the WSB has put her through? I mean, she’s been in law enforcement her entire life, and now she’s on the outside looking in. And on top of that, she was the potential target of a shooting, and she can’t investigate and she doesn’t have WSB resources anymore. I think she’s having a tough time, even though she insists she’s handling it well.

Jordan: Well, Anna always insists she can handle anything.

Dante: We got to find that shooter.

Jordan: Well, if you need me, officially or unofficially, I want to help. I owe it to Anna. And Curtis.

Alexis: You were right. I’m feeling a lot less stressed.

Gregory: See? I told you so.

[ Chuckles ] Oh.

Gregory: [ Groans ]

Alexis: Are you okay?

Gregory: Oh. No, it’s — I’m all right. I just think I need a little break.

Alexis: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have a seat there. I’m just — you know, I could use — I could use some water, too.

[ Axe thuds ]

Oh, well, look at that.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah, everything’s taken care of.

Olivia: I love you, too. I’ll see you soon. Bye.

Carly: You remember the day we met?

Olivia: I do, I do. It was here in The Metro Court.

Carly: Mm-hmm. That’s right. You were in town for Sonny and Kate’s wedding.

Olivia: Mm-hmm.

Carly: You grew up with Sonny in Bensonhurst, and he ran into you and he asked you to be the maid of honor to his fiancée, Kate Howard.

Olivia: [ Laughs ] Only Kate Howard was not her real name, and I spilled all of her secrets that her real name was Connie Falconeri, and she was from Bensonhurst, not some snotty blue blood from Connecticut. She was from Bensonhurst just like me, and she used to talk just like me.

[ Both laugh ]

Carly: Wow. God, that was 15 years ago. Can you believe it?

No.

[ Chuckles ] I don’t like women, okay? As a rule. And — and you and I have become, dare I say, friends, and we have a good time hanging out together and talking, and it really bothers me and freaks me out that Jax is trying to take that away.

Jax does not own me.

I’m gonna like having you around here.

Well, good. I’m gonna like being here.

Okay. If no one else in your life is gonna tell you this, I will. You are about to throw away the best thing that’ll ever happen to you.

Carly: Oh, my god. You spent the night with Julian Jerome.

Be quiet.

Carly: Oh, my god!

Who cares if I did?

Carly: What?

Anyways, you’re not immune to him because you went out with him, too.

Carly: No, no. Hell, I almost married Franco. I have no room to judge, but Julian Jerome is a slime. What were you thinking?

Carly: It’s a big risk, but it’s the only way I can buy my half of the hotel back.

It isn’t the only way. You can swallow your stubborn pride and let your friends help you.

Carly: Unless pride is the only thing I have left.

If you think that I don’t appreciate everything we’ve been through here… I mean, you back me as your partner, and… and you love me as your friend.

I’m always gonna love you as my friend, and that’s never gonna change, and you’re making me cry. I told you not to make me cry.

Me too. [ Sniffles ]

Carly: [ Exhales deeply ] I guess we’ll always be connected through Sonny.

Olivia: Oh, come on. You don’t give us enough credit. Sure, we’ll always have a connection because of Sonny, but becoming your friend was one of the best decisions I ever made. I really do value your friendship. And be honest… does it really not bother you that I’m helping Nina and Sonny plan their wedding?

Curtis: When I check out of the hospital, I’m supposed to go to a rehab facility. And I got to say, Pop… I’m dreading that.

Marshall: Why? Aren’t they supposed to help teach you how to get around and go about your life?

Curtis: That’s just it. I feel like by going to that rehab facility, it’s like me announcing to the world that I have given up hope about ever walking again, and that I have accepted that this is what my life is about. Life in a wheelchair.

Marshall: Son. Son, just because you learn to live with being in a wheelchair doesn’t mean you have to stop hoping that you can walk someday again. I know you. [ Sighs ] I know you’re — you’re a proud man, Curtis. And you’ve had a very active life. Son, I feel your — your frustration, but I’m here. I’m here to remind you… you don’t have to go through this struggle alone.

Curtis: I know Portia — she’s so determined to be with me. To support me. Pop, just seeing her reminds me of the life we’ll never have together. It just makes it worse.

[ Knock on door ]

Jordan: Hello. Am I interrupting, or is this a good time for a visit?

Spencer: I’m so, so, so incredibly sorry for what happened to Mr. Ashford. But as I understand it, the police aren’t yet sure who the intended target was. The last thing that I want to do is to make your life more difficult. But one thing that I can promise you is that I am… Dr. Robinson, I’m nothing like my late Uncle Victor or my Uncle Sonny.

Portia: You’re not exactly a saint, though, are you, Spencer?

Spencer: No, that’s true. That’s true. My track record is far from spotless. And I hope that I earned some redemption for what happened in Greenland. But beyond that, I want you to know that I want Trina to be safe and to be happy. So to make your night easier, I’m gonna go say goodbye to Trina, and then I’m gonna take off.

Portia: There’s no need for you to say goodbye in person. I can let Trina know that you had to take off.

Spencer: Okay, then. Good night, Dr. Robinson.

Portia: Good night.

Trina: Mom. Where’s Spencer?

Portia: He took off.

Alexis: Are you okay?

Gregory: Yeah, yeah. Mostly just embarrassed.

Alexis: Embarrassed? You’re an ex-athlete. Tell me about your bucket list.

Gregory: [ Exhales deeply ]

Alexis: You know you can only have one, right?

Gregory: Says who?

Alexis: Says logic. Says common sense. You have one bucket list, which means that you can keep adding on as often as you want, so you don’t need a second. Your hand hurts, huh? Is it getting worse?

Gregory: Every single day.

Marshall: Don’t worry, son. I’ll be back tomorrow so you can redeem yourself.

Curtis: Thanks, Pop.

[ Door closes ]

Jordan: Go Fish ? Really? And I always thought you played higher-stakes games.

Curtis: Go Fish  reminds my dad of when we played cards when I was a kid. Before he took off. So if it makes him smile, it makes me smile.

Jordan: I got it.

Curtis: I know everyone’s on edge when they come to see me… because no one knows what to say. So if playing a card game, a kids’ card game, puts my dad at ease…

Jordan: Then that’s what you’re gonna do. I see that. Because you want your dad to feel better.

Curtis: Since there’s not much I can accomplish these days, it’s nice to do the one thing I can do.

Jordan: And that’s exactly why I’m here… because I need something from you.

Trina: I wish Spencer stayed. We could have moved everything to my room a lot faster.

Portia: Well, you know Spencer. He’s probably thinking about his baby brother.

Trina: Right. I know how important Ace is to him.

Portia: But besides that, it’s you and me again.

Trina: [ Chuckles ] We managed pretty well, didn’t we?

Portia: Yeah. Kind of like old times, right?

Trina: Yeah. Well, that is the reason why I decided to come home.

Portia: What do you mean?

Trina: I didn’t want you tackling the biggest job by yourself. This house isn’t handicap accessible. So what’s the plan? Are you going to install ramps for a wheelchair, hand grips in the bathroom? Maybe we should move to some place that’s all one level. I-I know how much you love the beach house, but is it really the best place for Curtis?

Sonny: I know, you know, Port Charles is a big city in some ways, but in other ways, it’s a community, and Carly and I share kids, and you’re gonna be running into her a lot, and I don’t want you to feel like you have to avoid her, especially in your own hotel.

Nina: No, I don’t, I don’t. I know — I know that Olivia and Carly, they’re really good friends. And I didn’t need to interfere. And, you know, I didn’t want to make things more tense than they already are. Things are going really great between Olivia and I, and I don’t want to ruin it, especially now, you know? And specifically considering what I went to Olivia’s office to talk to her about.

Sonny: What’d you go to her office to talk to her about?

Nina: [ Chuckles ] Our future. Specifically… setting our wedding date.

Gregory: I have a disease that’s making my world smaller and smaller and taking more and more of my abilities away and making me more and more dependent on other people.

Alexis: You must be scared.

Gregory: Scared? No. No. I’m angry. No, I’m… royally pissed off. But what — what — what good is being angry gonna do me? It’s just using up more of what I don’t have — time. Time with my sons, who I love, and my granddaughter, who brings me endless joy. How could she not? You know, my — my family life is still — it’s still pretty good. I have great friends like you, you know, started a second-chapter career. But lately, I-I… I can’t stop thinking about — no, obsessing… about the inevitable. You know, when I — when I first started getting symptoms, I… I was able to ignore them for a while… until I couldn’t. And then I was diagnosed. And in… that one doctor’s appointment, one little moment, everything changed. Everything. Everything was… taken away from me. And I’m not ready to give it up.

Portia: Curtis is gonna be in a rehab facility for the next month or so, so I have some time to get this place handicap-accessible. And just to be perfectly transparent, he hasn’t even agreed to come back here after.

Trina: I’m so sorry. That must be killing you.

Portia: [ Sniffles ] Well, intellectually, I know what’s going on. I know that patients kind of deal with this kind of thing when they’re facing paralysis. But I believe that this is the time that you show up for the people that you love, so I’m gonna wait for him. I’m gonna wait for him to get through this and — and let me in. [ Chuckles ] And I hope that he’s gonna let you in, too.

Trina: I hope I’m ready if he does, because I’ve been feeling so sad and disconnected.

Portia: And I’m sure that Curtis is feeling the exact same way. Honey, you know, ordinarily, Curtis would love to spend time with you. I think he’s just facing the feelings of being paralyzed.

Trina: I wanted to see him. And — and I wanted to see you, too. That’s the reason why I came home. Because I missed you, mom.

Portia: Oh, honey, I missed you so much, too.

Curtis: Well, as you can see, I’m not really in a position to do you any favors.

Jordan: Well, you might be able to help more than you think. I don’t know if you remember, but I was at The Metro Court pool with Zeke and Portia the night you got shot.

Curtis: Yeah, I remember.

Jordan: Well, the police believe that either Sonny Corinthos or Anna Devane was the intended target of the shooter.

Curtis: Jordan, I already know this.

Jordan: Has anything come back to you about the shooting? Any details or observations that could help us track down the shooter? How are you investigating the shooting?

Curtis: Aren’t you the new deputy mayor?

Jordan: I am, and I’m doing my best, but what can I say? Once a cop, always a cop. Besides, I have a personal stake in your case. And obviously, you do, too, so if anything comes back to you — any memory, any sound, anything at all — please let me know.

Curtis: I can do that.

Gregory: I know I-I-I keep saying I-I don’t want to tell my sons about my ALS because they’d look at me differently and I-I want our time together to be special. But lately, since these symptoms have started getting worse, I-I-I find myself canceling on them, avoiding them. And while my bucket list is getting longer, I’m opting out of things. Not just bucket list, but — but — but day-to-day stuff like hiking with Chase and breakfast with Finn and violet because I’m so scared that I’m gonna have some symptom I can’t hide or explain away.

Alexis: How about if you just start with Finn? I mean, he’s a doctor. [ Sighs ] He can help you.

Gregory: He’s been through so much already. I-I don’t want to be a burden to him.

Alexis: [ Sighs ] All right, you just said that you want to enjoy your life for as long as you can. So do it.

Nina: When you were talking to Brick, I was talking to Olivia about wedding plans…

Sonny: Right.

Nina: …And we quickly realized that we can’t make wedding plans without first setting a wedding date.

Sonny: I already told you that I love you, and I want you to have the, you know — the perfect wedding of your dreams, but I just want to be perfectly clear — I will go to a courthouse and marry you. [ Chuckles ] I will go to Vegas and marry you. I just want you to know that I’m committed and serious about marrying you.

Nina: Mm. But… we got to pick a date tomorrow.

[ Chuckles ]

Carly: I know you love Sonny, and you want him to be happy, so of course you’re gonna support him. And like you said, this is more about distracting you from the Eddie Maine situation, so, yeah, I understand that. I do.

Olivia: I really appreciate that.

Carly: Doesn’t mean I have to like it… but I can learn to live with it. And besides, I have so much going on right now, so…

Olivia: How is Drew?

Carly: He’s okay, given the situation. I’m just so worried about him, and I feel so frustrated because there’s nothing I can do except visit him.

Alexis: [ Sighs ] You want to get out of here?

Gregory: Sure. Where do you want to go?

Alexis: You’ll see.

There’s gonna be a trial soon, right?I

***************************************

Update written by Dustin

Sam shows up at Maxie’s front door and Maxie asks if she is her fairy godmother.  Sam has brought a bottle of wine in hopes that the two can catch up.  But, she quickly hears the kids fighting in another room of the apartment.  Maxie raises the wine bottle like she could really use a drink and they both smile. Maxie disciplines the children and sends Georgie to her room.  Sam, in the meantime, gives James some ice cream.  Maxie tells Sam that they need a new place and Sam says that she could lease Dante’s place.  Maxie asks if she means the house where Dante lived with Lulu.  Maxie then begins to speak about Lulu and how much she misses her, she tells Sam it’s been nearly three years.  Maxie asks if Sam thinks that Dante would let her live there.  Sam tells Maxie that if he decided to lease the place that she believes there would be no better candidate than Maxie.

Maxie and Sam then discuss Sasha’s descent into madness.  Maxie tells Sam that Brook Lynn saw her at Fern Cliff and that Sasha was crying and screaming and Maxie tells Sam she doesn’t want to see her that way.  Sam can’t believe that Sasha has taken such a rapid downturn. Maxie agrees and says that there was absolutely no evidence that Sasha was abusing drugs before her breakdown. Sam then tells Maxie that she has to leave soon and Maxie is disappointed.  Maxie says it was so nice to spend time with an actual adult.

Marshall arrives home at Portia’s place and Portia tells him he is just in time. “In time for what?” Marshall asks.  Portia informs him that Trina has moved back home.  Portia tells Marshall she will get Trina from her room so that they can visit together.  Marshall seems distracted.  Portia finds that Trina has left  and she tells Marshall that she has to go out.  She tells Marshall that she hopes that Trina hasn’t gone to see Spencer.  Portia tells Marshall that she feels responsible for what happened to Curtis.  Marshall tells her that focusing on the what ifs and the might have beens is no way to live.  He insists that they have to move forward.  Marshall tells Portia that he will be there for her and Curtis. Portia and Marshall share a hug.

In Curtis’ room at General Hospital, Curtis has a flashback to the sounds of the shooting and then pulls the covers up and stares at his legs.  Elizabeth enters his room and asks him if he is OK.  Elizabeth discusses Curtis’ transfer to rehab the next day. She tells Curtis that the rehabilitation will be difficult but he will be fine because he is strong.  Curtis asks Elizabeth to just be honest and say that he will be stuck in a chair for the rest of his life.

Trina arrives at General Hospital and asks Finn to sneak her in to see Curtis.  At first he is hesitant, but then he relents. Finn goes to visit Curtis and lets Trina in.  Trina tells Curtis that regardless of what the future holds he will always be her father.  “Yes I will,” Curtis replies.  Trina asks Curtis if he remembers the first words he uttered when he regained consciousness after his surgery.  Curtis says, “I need my daughter.”  Trina says that she needs him too and she will always be there for him.

Alexis comes home and startles Kristina who is watching “How To Catch A Killer” on TV.  Alexis tells Kristina that she thought she didn’t watch TV anymore.  Kristina says that her internet has been shut off and besides she prefers to watch TV at Alexis’ place. Alexis tells Kristina from now on if she could tell her she was coming by that would be nice.  Alexis says that would help prevent her from having a heart attack in the future.  Kristina said she didn’t expect Alexis to be out this late.  Alexis says that she was out helping someone check off an item on their bucket list. Kristina asks for details and Alexis says that she was out throwing hatchets with a friend.  Kristina tells her that she has heard about those places and she has also heard they can be a lot of fun.  Alexis then notices that Kristina has brought over books on business management that Sam had purchased for her.  Alexis then becomes convinced that Kristina was planning on burning the books in the fireplace.  But, Kristina convinces her that she has really enjoyed the knowledge she has acquired from the books.  She says it makes her feel empowered and she intends to use the knowledge while setting up her new center for at-risk youth.  Alexis then tells Kristina she is very proud of her.

The doorbell rings at Anna’s home, she comes down the stairs and finds Dante at the door.  When Dante enters Anna’s home, it is clear that they are both being watched by an unseen party. Anna thanks Dante for coming over so late and she asks him if there has been any progress on the investigation of the shooting at the Metro Court.  Dante tells her that they still have more questions than answers and that he really wouldn’t call that progress.  Anna informs Dante that Pikeman Security Group may be involved in the shooting. Anna says she has recently learned that Pikeman often recruits former WSB agents to work for them.  Dante asks her how she knows this for sure.  Anna tells him that Valentin was recruited to work for them.  Dante asks where Valentin is and Anna tells him that there was a water main break at ELQ and that he had to go and deal with that.  Dante tells Anna that he can’t believe that Valentin admitted that he was recruited by Pikeman.  Anna tells him he was hesitant at first, but after pressing him, he shared the information with her.

Dante asks Anna if she believes that Pikeman tried to kill her that day at the Metro Court pool. Anna is not certain but she tells Dante when she was debriefed by a WSB agent after what happened in Greenland that she noticed that he had a portfolio with a Pikeman logo on it.  Dante says that maybe the presence of the logo was just a coincidence.  Anna disagrees and says that the bureau may be using Pikeman to further its own political agenda. Dante assures Anna that he will go back to the PCPD and work the Pikeman angle. As he leaves her home, the person watching Anna’s front door is still present.

At General Hospital, Finn gets a call about a patient.  He orders an ER to be made ready and another doctor to be paged to assist.  He then hangs up the phone and rushes away as Elizabeth watches from across the lobby.

Carly and Olivia show up at a dive bar that Carly says reminds her of Jake’s.  Olivia excuses herself to go to the ladies room while Carly orders drinks.  To Carly’s surprise, Ned walks across the room and begins a conversation with her.  Olivia comes back and finds Ned talking to Carly.  Olivia says to Carly, “is it possible that my husband is trying to pick up my best friend?”  Carly says she doesn’t think so, but then is immediately proven wrong. Olivia quips that she guesses she should be thankful that he is hitting on her and not some other loser.  At this point, Mason enters the picture and makes a pass at Olivia.  Mason tells Olivia that she looks, “lonely and hot.”  Olivia rolls her eyes.  Mason starts hitting on Olivia and Ned punches Mason, which leads to a fight between the two.  Mason knocks Ned out and then continues hitting on Olivia.  The bartender, seeing the situation is getting out of hand, passes Carly a bottle which she then breaks over the back of Mason’s head.  Mason falls to the floor.  Ned then regains consciousness and asks Olivia, “did I get him?”  Olivia says, “you got him all right.”  Carly rolls her eyes with exasperation.

Recap written by Suzanne

Sam and Scout are at the Metro Court pool. Gladys makes inappropriate remarks about Scout’s daddy, Drew, being in prison. Sam starts questioning her about Cody’s stabbing. Later, Sam phones Ferncliff to see if she can visit Sasha, but they tell her only those on the list approved by Gladys can see her.

Sasha wakes up groggily in Ferncliff. Kind Nurse Mandy takes off her restraints and places a call to Gladys for her. Dr. Montague, who’s in cahoots with Gladys, tells Sasha that she stabbed Cody and that she’s been back on drugs for months. Sasha protests, horrified, that she went to rehab and got off the drugs. The doctor gives her a shot that he says will help her. She cries and begs to go home.

Nina calls around to find a venue for her and Sonny’s wedding, but Olivia asks if she can plan their wedding, as a distraction from everything going on with “Eddie,” so Nina agrees. Nina and Olivia greet Sonny and Brick; Nina tells them that Olivia will be planning their wedding.

Valentin drops by Spencer’s place to tell him and Esme that they haven’t found Nikolas yet. Laura and Kevin are still out there, searching on their own. Esme wonders if he’s dead, but Spencer thinks he’s just faking his death again. Spencer notes that Esme is a good mother. Later, they take photos together with baby Ace.

Anna visits Robert to question him about the WSB and Pikeman. She flashes back to being debriefed by the WSB. Then she goes home and puts the pieces of her puzzle together. All roads lead to Valentin. When he comes home, she tells him that she thinks she knows who shot at her, and he does, too.

Brick meets with Sonny to tell him what he found out about the nanny, Betty, and the other people Sonny asked him to do background checks on, like Austin, the late Gordon Stevens, and Mason. Sonny tells Brick about Mason blackmailing Ava. Brick suggests they kill Mason, but Sonny says they can’t do that while Mason has Nikolas’ body.

Cody tracks down Diane to let her know he won’t be pressing charges against Sasha (nor cooperating with police) because he knows something is wrong with her. He wants to go in there to see her. Later, Diane visits Robert to tell him that Cody’s not pressing charges, so she wants the charges dropped. She also invites Robert to a car show, and he’s interested. However, when he calls it a “date,” she gets annoyed and says she’ll take Alexis instead. She hints that it’s time to let go of his old car and get a new one.

Cody tries to get in to see Sasha, pretending to be Dante (her cousin). However, he’s told that he’s not on the approved list. Nurse Mandy tries to help him, but Nurse Janice is strict with the rules.

Review of “Babylon 5: The Road Home”

DVD Review!

"Babylon 5: The Road Home" DVD cover

“Babylon 5: The Road Home” Review by Suzanne 8/23/23

I really enjoyed this animated movie that reunites most of the main characters and living actors of the original “Babylon 5” TV series. If I had a tiny quibble, it would be that I wish they had tried to make the characters of John, Delenn, Ivanova, Lochley and Sinclair look more like the actors (Garibaldi, and the aliens, look great!).  This is not to say that the animation isn’t fantastic, because of course it is. I really enjoyed the DVD’s featurette as well as the main movie. It’s sad that so many of the actors have died since then, but they did an excellent job of recreating their characters with new actors.

It’s available to buy on Amazon or other places DVDs are sold, or you can watch it streaming on Prime Video and other outlets.

“Babylon 5: The Road Home” is an awe-inspiring cinematic gem that marks a new and exciting chapter in the Babylon 5 franchise. This 2023 American animated film, produced by Warner Bros. Animation and directed by the talented Matt Peters, takes viewers on an unforgettable journey through time, space, and alternate realities. With a screenplay crafted by the visionary creator of the Babylon 5 universe, J. Michael Straczynski, the film captures the essence of the original series while pushing the boundaries of storytelling in an animated format.

The film’s release brings with it a wave of excitement for fans of the franchise, and it does not disappoint. Seamlessly incorporating cutting-edge CGI animation, “The Road Home” visually resurrects the iconic Babylon 5 universe with remarkable attention to detail. The characters, settings, and spaceships come to life in stunning fidelity, offering a feast for the eyes that pays homage to the series’ aesthetic while infusing it with new vitality.

At its core, the film introduces us to President Sheridan and Delenn at a pivotal moment in their journey, as they set out to develop the Interstellar Alliance after the Shadow War. However, it’s Sheridan’s unexpected encounter with tachyons that sets the stage for an exhilarating narrative. As he becomes unstuck in time and space, the audience is treated to an intricate web of alternate realities, each expertly woven to explore the consequences of different choices and actions.

The animation captures the emotional depth of the characters’ experiences, bringing to life the struggles, dilemmas, and triumphs they face across different timelines. Bruce Boxleitner delivers an outstanding performance as John Sheridan, infusing the character with a palpable sense of determination, vulnerability, and introspection that audiences have come to love.

The film’s strength lies not only in its captivating animation but also in its rich and thought-provoking narrative. As Sheridan navigates through various realities, encountering familiar faces like Susan Ivanova, Londo Mollari, and others, the film invites viewers to ponder profound questions about existence, love, and the interconnectedness of all things.

The exceptional voice cast, including Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, and more, brings a sense of authenticity and familiarity to the characters, fostering a genuine connection between the audience and the on-screen personas.

“Babylon 5: The Road Home” is a triumphant celebration of the franchise’s legacy, combining the beloved elements that fans adore with fresh and innovative storytelling. The film’s release as a direct-to-video installment makes it accessible to a wide audience, both long-time enthusiasts and newcomers eager to delve into the Babylon 5 universe.

In conclusion, “The Road Home” is a captivating cinematic experience that masterfully captures the essence of Babylon 5 while exploring uncharted territory in the animated format. Its rich storytelling, breathtaking animation, and thought-provoking themes make it a must-watch for anyone seeking a thrilling journey through time, space, and the boundless realms of imagination.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Hey. Hey. Great weather today, huh? Wish it were like this all the time. Yeah, I know, right? I’ll see you. Uh, um, I almost forgot. I finished that book that you said you wanted to read. The one on time management. You can come by later and pick it up.

I want you to stop showing up at my doorstep without your shirt on. Stop bringing over dinner. Stop coming by to shoot the breeze. Just stop. That’s okay. I’ll probably never read it anyway. See ya. Oh. Okay. Guess I’ll see you later then.

Oh, get this. According to our friend Lady Whistleblower, Alex Kiriakis moved in across the hall from Stephanie and Chad. Seriously? Mm hmm. Crazy, right? Can you imagine? How awkward? Living across the hall from your ex. No, I mean, you’re seriously talking to me about a gossip column right now? Well, what should I be talking to you about?

I don’t know. How about the fact that… Acting Mayor Rawlings, Gage John Brady, your job.

Hmm. I’m so glad they lifted your suspension. But what are we, uh, doing in Rafe’s office? Actually, it’s not Rafe’s office anymore. It’s mine. What, what are you talking about? It’s official. I’m the new commissioner.

There you are. There I am. Just packing Rachel up so she can leave home for good. How soon before you have to go? About an hour. I’ve got to be at Kristen’s place where I’m supposed to drop her off. Sorry, kid. I still can’t believe that they gave that woman full custody. It’s a real nightmare. Not really, Dad, because in a nightmare, you usually wake up and things are back to normal, but because of that judge’s damn decision, nothing’s ever gonna be normal again.

Beautiful night, huh? That it is. And I have some wonderful news. Well, whatever it is, it can’t compete with my amazing news. Maybe it can. I asked Nicole to marry me. Nope. Can’t hold a candle to mine. You see, my precious daughter is coming home tonight to live with me for good.

You guys make these cards on your own? Yep. Yeah? Well, that is some very high level professional stuff. Hey. Oh, your, uh, your cousin Rachel’s gonna feel very welcome in her new home.

Oh, we made! Ooh! Let me see those. Wow! Stellar work, huh? There is no way you guys made these on your own. We did. Oh, my God. Well, I’m very impressed. They’re making them. They’re, um, gonna give them to Rachel. They’re having a sleepover. It’s her first night in the house. So Kristen got full custody, huh? Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. It all works in mysterious ways, doesn’t it?

Why don’t you, uh, why don’t you kids go grab your stuff? We’ll leave here in, like, ten minutes, okay?

Poor Brady. Yeah.

Hey, have you seen Alex today? No, why? Well, I just ran into him in the hallway and he was kind of standoffish. More than standoffish. Actually. He totally blew me off. Any idea why,

like Sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Yeah. I, I I don’t know why Alex would blow you off. Yeah. Maybe just had a bad day at work. Hmm. Maybe. But it was weird. It was like he. It really didn’t want to engage. It barely looked at me.

Uh oh. Change of plans. Something wrong? No, it’s good. Actually, um, I’ve been asked to come pitch a marketing plan for a new venture. It’s a little last minute, but it would be a really big account to land. Go! Well, I really wanted to be at the house with you and the kids. No, we’ll be fine. We’ll see, see you back here once they’re settled.

Okay. Yeah? Yeah. You’re very understanding, which is one of the many reasons that you are an excellent boyfriend.

So, what are you gonna? You, are you gonna pretend that you think it’s a good thing for us to go off on a choice. There’s no way in hell I’m gonna make an enemy out of my sister.

Yeah, I could just see you were bursting at the seams with excitement that I’m getting full custody of my darling daughter. What did you do, blackmail the judge? No, I didn’t have to lift a finger. No, I hardly believe that. It’s the truth. You see, when Brady pulled that gun on me… Ah, I thought I got a shot at shared custody, but I won the jackpot.

Well, uh, congratulations, I suppose. Wait, were you being sincere? I’m a parent. And I will be again soon. I know how painful it is to be separated from your child. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Actually, I would. I just wouldn’t wish it on my own sister. Aw, thank you, E. J. I know that means a lot to me.

Plus, plus, you’d be that sanctimonious bastard at his own game. And that delights me to no end. Yes.

You know what I love most about being Rachel’s dad right now? Is that she’s so grown up in a lot of ways, dad. She’s, she’s reading these books, we should talk. But at the same time, she will not go anywhere without her dolly. You know? Yeah, I remember a time when she left it behind in a hotel room in Florida.

Oh yeah, I remember. I raced back. From the airport, and I had to dive into that dumpster to find her, and uh, Rachel was crying, but there she was. There she was. She, uh, I found little Lulu. It’s what we dads do. You’re damn, you’re damn right. That’s what we dads do. I’m sorry, kid. the one.

I’m the one that knows what her best interests are. I’m the one that knows what to do when she wakes up in the middle of the night. I know what to do when she’s scared and when she’s alone. I’m the one that knows how to soothe her, you know? No one tells how much you love your daughter. Except that judge.

She made a terrible mistake. Yeah, well, you know what? I made a mistake, too. Because I went over there with a gun, and I stuck it in Kristen’s face. And I gave the court every reason that they needed to give Rachel to Kristen. I know that you’re blaming yourself right now, but still, it’s just not fair. Dad, you’re, you’re, yeah.

Yeah, it’s not fair. How can anyone in the world think that Kristen’s influence would be good for any kid? And now there’s nothing I can… Do about it. They’ve backed you into a corner, and I’m sure that you would do almost anything to fix it, right? That’s right. Like, maybe buy a car online with an out of state registry so you can whisk your daughter out of town under the cover of darkness?

That’s a solid plan, Dad. I wish I’d thought of that one. Like you did. In fact, you’re going to put that plan in motion within an hour’s time. Wait, hold on, hold on. You think because I… No, I know this because you made a mistake and used the Wi Fi in this house to buy that car. What? What the hell are you even know, I should have warned you beforehand.

Because of my work with Blackpatch, this joint is wired with sophisticated software most people don’t even know about. Spyware and it’s programmed to send me an alert when there’s unusual activity. I’m buying a car in Texas and shipping it to Salem is unusual activity. Dad, you’re spying on me. I’m unintentionally not.

Okay. Well, you’re wa you’re off on this one, dad. Okay. You’re right. I was looking at a car. I’ve been looking, I’ve been looking for that car for a long time. Found it online. I jumped. Yeah. Right. And you had it delivered to a remote garage on the outskirts of town here instead of, well, let’s see. Here, where you live.

Now you’re following me. Dad, come on. So you’re gonna get a head start taking Rachel out of here in a car nobody knows about. You’re probably gonna be several states away before anybody figures out what’s going on here. You know, initially, it’s a pretty smart plan, I’ll give you

that. Not smart enough to fool you, though,

huh? Unlucky.

Alright, Dad, now that you know, are you gonna try to stop me?

Okay, um, I admit I was surprised when I found out that Rawlings gave Sean my job, but no one wants to hear me complain about it. You’re allowed to vent. You’re allowed to be upset. Vent? What am I going to vent about? I broke the rules. And Sean didn’t? His situation was totally different than mine. Well, except he is the reason why Rawlings even knew about you and I in the first place.

Yeah, but he didn’t do it intentionally. But still, he’s gotta hurt that he’s the one that got your job. Huh. Okay. Are you trying to make me snap right now? No, no, no, no. Listen, I am just trying to help you be more honest about your feelings. Okay. Okay. Okay. Alright, fine. I admit it. Alright? It stinks. A lot.

And I hate it. But, they were, I mean it was gonna suck, no matter who they gave my job to, they were always gonna give it to somebody. Yeah, but, why Sean? Well, who else should they have given it to? I don’t know. How about me?

Oh, I don’t understand. You’re the new commissioner? How? I came back to work today because my suspension was up, and, uh, next thing you know, I’ve got the acting mayor wanting me to take over for Rafe. And you just said yes? No, no, of course not. No, I, I, no, I turned him down. I even said that I think that Rafe is still the right man for the job.

Then he made it very clear that that’s never gonna happen, and then I suggested that Jada be the commissioner. And what did Rawlings say to that? He said that Jada was implicated just like Rafe was. And then he said if I don’t take the job, that he wouldn’t let me come back as detective. So, it’s either this or nothing.

Wait, do you think I should have walked away?

There is my favorite niece and nephew. They can’t be your favorites, they’re my favorites. They can be both of your favorites.

Yes, you Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming just tonight. I mean, Rachel’s gonna be so happy to see the two of you. When is she getting here? Well, she’s gonna get here very, very soon. And guess what I did? I remodeled the bedroom. And, uh, it has bunk beds. Would you two like to see it? Yes. Yeah? Yeah. All right, go ahead.

Report back to me, though, okay? Okay. All right, I’m gonna give you two the grand tour.

So, Kirsten got full custody, huh? Yes, and she swears she didn’t even bribe the judge. Go figure. Go figure. You know, um, Took your advice. Oh, yeah. Talked to Alex. You confronted him. I did. Told him in no uncertain terms to back off. And? And it’s painful.

It is good to see you again, my man. You too. Is Brady joining us? No, no, not tonight. He’s got some personal things he has to take care of. But I’m going to fill him in on everything later. He’s still on board with that, right? Totally. Yeah. Man, he’s a… Excited as I am about your collab with Basic Black. It’s finally nearing the launch date.

Okay, we’re gonna make some money together. I like the sound of that. But there are some important things that we have to have in place first. Such as? Marketing. PR. I’ve already thought about that. Um… You know, I think it would be prudent to bring on an outside consultant. Yeah, definitely. I mean, I’ll start looking for some candidates as well.

Oh, no, no, no. You don’t need to do that, actually. I took care of that already. I actually got the best in the business. She’s, uh, on her way. She’s on her way here? Yeah. Oh. Here she is now. Ah. Ah.

This is the project he wanted to see me about. Well, I told you we’d work on several projects, assuming that this one works out alright. Basic black. Basic black. You know, the two of you have worked together with great success in the past, and that gives me confidence. Yeah, well, um… I’d like you to oversee Stephanie’s role.

She’s the best in the business. You two don’t mind working closely together, do you? Of course not. It’ll be great. No. I’m sorry, this can’t happen.

I was firm, I was assertive, and uh, you know, I told Alex what’s what. WWSD. Well, no, I wouldn’t say I acted like a father, but he heard me, and he agreed to back off. He’s kept up his end of the agreement? Been some. Apparently Stephanie ran into him in the hallway and, uh, basically blew her off. Barely spoke to her.

How did she feel about that? She was confused. She’s unaware that you delivered the warning. I mean, I really don’t like, you know, keeping things from her, but in this case, I think it’s best. You know, soon he’ll be out of our lives, and she’ll barely know he’s gone. Thanks to my stellar advice. You’re welcome, brother.

Wow, leave it up to a couple of moronic men to come up with the worst plan ever. What are you talking about? What am I talking about? I heard what you did, Chad. And it is going to backfire on you spectacularly. You know that, right?

You wanted my job? No, I’m not saying that I wanted your job. I’m just saying that, if Rawlings was going to give it to somebody, why couldn’t it have been me? Right. Yeah. I hear you. Listen, you’re a great cop, and I’m sure you’d make an even better commissioner. Thank you for saying that. It’s true. Now that I think of it, I don’t understand why Rawlings didn’t offer you the job.

Well, I have an idea. What? Being a woman of color in this male dominated industry… You know, yet again, I have to see a flawed white guy just march up and get the job that I’m qualified for. And, and I’m not saying that Sean is not a great detective, and I’m not saying that he doesn’t have seniority over me.

But, but what I’m saying is that… I mean, the guy just got busted for drinking on the job. Yeah. Well, not to mention the fact that you’ve been in the center of our major investigations over the last six months. Exactly. And, and, and Sean just comes in and, and, and comes into his first new day on the job and where does he get?

He gets a shiny new job in a shiny new office. Looks like I’m not the one who needed to vent. Okay, I’ll stop. I sound bitter. I sound petty. No. No. You’re neither of those things.

It’s just… Did I tell you? Did I tell you how this happened at my last job? What, that you got passed up for a promotion? You know, they’ve never had a person of color in the higher echelon. And you know, that record is still intact. That is wrong in so many damn ways.

I mean, you know, it’s not Sean’s fault. It’s not, you know, I don’t blame him. He did actually decline the job and he even recommended me. But still, I just, I can’t help but just feel a bit upset that he, he comes in and he’s at the right place, the right time, the right skin tone.

I send it. Rafe was a really popular commissioner. Everyone really loved him. Yeah, he was a great boss. But, you didn’t answer my question. Do you think I should have turned it down? I think that even if Rafe wasn’t a part of this, that I would have some reservations about you taking this on. Why? Because, Sean, you’re still in a really fragile place, you know?

You’ve really been struggling with everything since what happened with your dad. Yeah, of course I’ve been struggling. I almost killed my own father. Okay, but you’re making great progress with my mom. But even you would have to admit there’s still a ways to go. So you think the job is too much for me? I think that you can handle anything that the world throws at you.

And I also think that you’re the strongest person I’ve ever met. I don’t want you to think that I’m doubting you. Listen, I get it, Belle. You’re afraid that I’m going to relapse. You’re afraid that I’m going to start drinking again. Yeah, I am. Well, I mean, I am too. But, but come on, I mean, isn’t that a good thing?

That means that I’m, I’m never gonna let my guard down. Not even for a second. Look, I understand the responsibilities that come with this job. I’ve had three family members serve in this office honorably. And they’re all going to be very proud of you. I know I am. But you have your doubts. And that is understandable.

I mean, believe me, I’ve, I’ve got mine too. Yeah, but what if this challenge is what I need to, to, to finally heal and to, to start believing in myself again?

Listen, you do not need to prove yourself to me. I hope you know that. I believe in you more than anyone else. Does that mean that you’re on board? I think that if you want to do this, you are going to be the best Commissioner Brady there ever was.

Son, I have a feeling that if I were to try to stop you, I would wind up unconscious on the floor here, and you would still take off with your daughter. Well, then it seems you understand how determined I am to protect my little girl. And I understand that there is only one person who can stop you from doing this on that issue.

You think I’m making a big mistake? Let me tell you how this works. You know, in the eyes of the cops here, You’re going to be a kidnapper, so they’re going to throw out an Amber Alert and all that kind of stuff. But what I’m most worried about is Kristen. You think she’s going to let you take off with her daughter?

She has unlimited resources. That means you will never not be on the run. I understand that. Do you really? Do you? Do you understand it’s going to be you and Rachel constantly looking over your shoulder or you won’t be able to settle down anywhere? That’s got to be better than doing nothing, Dad. I got to do something.

I got to, I got to act. Okay, so you’re backed into a corner. Think about the corner you’re gonna back Rachel into. She’ll never be able to see her friends again. She’ll never be able to see her family again. Dad, don’t, don’t, don’t! There’s no life for a little girl! What, you think she’s gonna thank you for that?

I’m telling you, son, her day’s gonna come… when she’s gonna hate you for

that. Dad, listen to me. Believe me. I’ve, I’ve, I’ve, I’ve thought about all of this. I’ve gone through every scenario in my head. It’s not going to be easy to be on the run. It is going to be a challenge to make Rachel understand. But think about the alternative, okay? I don’t like her living in that house any more than you do.

It’s not the house, Dad. It’s the fact that Kristen’s going to be poisoning her head every day. And she’s going to turn her against me, you, Marlena, everyone else. She’s smart. She knows that we love her. But how long is that going to last with Kristen being able to turn her against us every second of every day?

Dad, she needs me. Running isn’t the only option here. What you do is you stay here and you fight. I could lose. I don’t want to lose. You keep fighting. You fight until you get that judgment overturned. Listen, the time’s going to come. You’re going to be able to prove that you’re the better person, that you’re the better parent.

Yeah, but in the meantime, Kristen is just going to be pulling Rachel closer, and she’s going to be driving her away from me. I know this is hard, but if you take off running here, you defy that court order, it is all over. You’re never gonna be safe. Not from the law, not from Kristen, because when they find you, you’re gonna lose your daughter forever.

And Kristen is gonna win.

I am sorry for interrupting this meeting of the minds. You eavesdropping? No, you guys were speaking right out in the open. Sounded like you were so proud of the scheme you two cooked up. Don’t hardly call this a scheme. Well, not a good one, certainly. I mean, I expect this from you, EJ. Chad, you’re smarter than this.

I can’t tell which one of us she’s insulting more. You.

You’re really taking EJ’s relationship advice now? Look who’s talking. Look, Kristen, usually I would agree with you. Hey. Wait, but in this situation, he was right. I had a problem in my relationship, we came up with a solution, and so far it seems to be working. So far. Yeah, so what happens when Alex tells Stephanie how you went behind her back to scare off the competition?

Okay, first of all, Alex is not competition, and um, he’s not gonna say anything. Oh, of course he will. Why wouldn’t he? We have a gentleman’s agreement. Oh my god, come on. Even you don’t believe that.

Alex? You don’t want to work with me? No, it’s not that I don’t want to work with you, Steph. What’s going on here? Why don’t you want to work with her? She’s the best in the biz. I’m not saying she isn’t, but… But what? Yeah, Alex, but what? She already does PR for Titan. So? So, Basic Black is a subsidiary of DiMera.

DiMera and Titan are bitter rivals. And, I mean, she’s working closely with my Aunt Maggie. Who knows, maybe she might… Wait, what? Pass on confidential information? Yeah, maybe. I don’t know, not intentionally, but… So you’re saying I’m not disloyal, just stupid? No, Steph, I’m… Hey, I’m not saying either of those things.

It’s just… It’s just what? Alex, you really think I’d sandbag you like that? No, of course not. You of all people know you can trust me. I’m a professional. I do know that. Why the hell are you resisting this? Honestly, man, I’d rather not say. I don’t care what you’d rather not do. I’m just trying to do what I’m supposed to do.

Oh, supposed to? I don’t understand. Why don’t you ask Chad, okay? Chad. What the hell does he have to do with this? Um,

maybe you don’t understand what it’s all about. I know what it means. I just think it’s idiotic. Well, we disagree. So you think you’re safe because the guy who has a thing for your girlfriend agreed to make you not look foolish in her eyes? You’re putting a very negative spin on this. No, I am calling it like I see it.

I’m telling you, Alex said he would keep it to himself. And men never go back on their word, especially when an attractive woman is involved. Okay, you know what? I don’t think you understand how disruptive Alex was in our relationship, alright? Stephanie and I, we worked very hard to get where we’re at. Yes, and I sympathize with that.

But, I mean… This, this horrendous idea of EJ’s will backfire on you. And when it does, Stephanie is going to see Alex in a whole new light. Because you made him the victim. So nice work, dummies. Father would be so proud of you.

Okay, I’m done, Vinty. Sure, cause I could listen for an hour or two more if you need to. No, I’m good. Okay. Well, just for the record, I agree with everything you said. I just, I can’t believe that tomorrow morning I have to report to my new boss, who’s a drunk, and put his dad in a coma. I mean, I just can’t believe it.

It just doesn’t matter. You know what? Venting over. Done. Yeah. Mm hmm. John’s right behind me, isn’t he?

Hey there, boss.

What I meant to say, Steph, was that Chad doesn’t want your work at Titan to be put in jeopardy. And how’s Maggie gonna feel when she finds out you’re working for the competitor? Nice try, but that’s not what you meant. We don’t have to have this conversation right now, Steph. But we are gonna have this conversation right now.

You two have a very interesting relationship. It’s not a relationship. We’re not friends? I’m just trying to do the right thing, Steph. What the hell does that even mean? What is really going on, Alex? Tell me the truth.

Truth? The truth is Chad thinks I want you back and he warned me to stay away from you. He warned you? He told me to back off, or else.

Is this why you wouldn’t speak to me in the hallway?

It is.

Like I said, I’m just trying to do the right thing by you and Chad. Me and Chad. Well, now that it’s all out in the open, should we start over? Yeah, yeah, that sounds like a great idea. Hold on a minute. You don’t get out of this that easily. I need to just chat. Steph, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait. You weren’t supposed to hear all that.

We had a gentleman’s agreement.

I don’t know what I was thinking. You’re not seriously listening to Kristen, are you? She’s just trying to cause trouble. Yeah, but she’s right, isn’t she? I made the whole thing worse. Yeah, you sure did. I mean, I didn’t trust Alex to be around Stephanie. I’m gonna, I’m gonna trust him to keep our arrangement quiet.

Well, that does sound like some shoddy reasoning. If she finds out I did this behind her back. When she finds out you did this behind her back. Tell the kids I’ll call them before bed. You’re leaving? Yeah, I have to go deal with this before my old wife explodes. Well, good luck. I’m glad I could help. This was all under control until you stuck your nose in.

Oh, that Oh, I’m sorry, did you say something? I mean, I see your gums flapping, but I can’t hear trying to sabotage this family? Ha ha, you know what, EJ? You can’t ruin my evening. Because Brady will be here with Rachel any minute, and that is all that matters to me. Nothing

else is My mind’s made up.

Didn’t you tell me that you regretted pulling the gun on Kristen? That you wished you could take that back? That was different, Dad. Not different? You explain to me right now, how is that different? You know, your impulsiveness cost you the first time. This time, it’s gonna cost you everything. It’s gonna cost you your daughter.

It’s gonna cost you your freedom. And what if she never forgives you for dragging her out of here? It’s a risk that I have to take. I gotta leave within the hour. I’m gonna miss my head start. I don’t want Kristen tracking me down before I hit the state line, alright? Dammit, Brady, you gotta think about this.

Your whole life, her whole life, depends upon this decision.

I love you.

Sean, what you heard, I was just venting. I know you are not a drunk and I know what happened with your dad was an accident. Well, it’s been a frustrating day. For everyone. Please, I feel awful. I am so sorry.

Look, I know, I know that you’re embarrassed. But I just walked in on that, but the truth is, I’m the one that should be embarrassed. Sorry. Oh, Rafe, I, look, after what I did to you, just to have the mayor turn around and hand me your job. You didn’t ask him for it. Still. I’m sorry. I think you don’t deserve this.

Look, I don’t… I don’t know what else to say.

Well, just do a good job. That’s all that matters in the end.

You know, I’ve had more business deals implode over the years than I can count, but it’s always about money. Uh, I’ve never seen this before. Yuri, please, not right now. Are you really that upset about how this went? Yes, yes, I am that upset. Did you not see how angry Steph was when she just blew out of here?

Angry about Chad DeMura? Yeah, and me. But mostly Chad DeMura. Are you really that crazy about this girl?

I am. You know, not that I really care so much about this domestic soap opera love triangle, what will you? The way I see it, your chances of stealing this girl back are about… 60 40. Maybe a little bit more. Congratulations.

A gentleman’s agreement.

You’re back earlier than I thought. Want a glass? Um, no thanks. I was, uh, I was hoping you’d be back by, uh, back from your meeting by now.

Um, is everything okay? Yeah. Um, I just sent the kids out. I think, uh, I think it’d be a good time for us to probably talk. What a coincidence. I was thinking the same thing.

What? You wanna talk? Sit the hell down. I’m going first.

Oh, come on, kid. Come to your senses before it’s too late.

Didn’t you say Brady would be here any minute? Mm hmm. He’s late. He must have hit traffic getting across town. Maybe. Maybe

he decided he can’t live with the judge’s decision. Brady wouldn’t just take Rachel and run. Would he?

It’s something I would do. If he’s on the run, he’s not going to answer his phone. Okay, I’m not calling Brady. I’m calling… Hello? Val, it’s Kristen. What do you want, Kristen? I need you to get on the phone to the judge. I need you to call every police jurisdiction between here and in the state line before it is too late.

Slow down. I have no idea what you’re talking about. I am talking about my daughter. What about Rachel? Your client has decided to go on the run with my daughter, and I will not stand for it! Oh, my God.

Oh, my God. Oh, my God,

my sweet little baby. Oh. Oh. Oh.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Who does that man think he is? He’s the acting mayor, Mama. Acting is right. Acting as if he has the right to shut down your business for something so trivial as not displaying a sticker. A sticker, which you were never sent. Now this was their mistake, why should you be punished for it? I told you, Mama, it’s personal.

Rawlings wanted us closed for good after Biscuit Gate, but he thinks that I got preferential treatment because Abe was the mayor. Abe was elected. The people didn’t choose Rawlings. And this person is not going to let him bully my daughter out of business. What are you gonna do? Mm mm, don’t you worry, baby girl.

I will handle it. Mama! No, Mama, wait!

Okay. Thank you. Let’s go for another round. Alright. Um, wait. Wait, wait, wait. We have one more we didn’t finish. Do you know who this is? Well, that’s an easy one. That’s my stepdaughter, Chanel. And what’s her last name? Dupree. Very good. You got them all right. I think you are making great progress. Well, let’s, let’s do them all again.

Let’s go through it. Okay.

So you want to talk about your feelings for Chanel Dupree.

What kind of feelings?

I don’t know, um, romantic feelings, maybe. But, Dr. Evans, I know that Chanel was married to your grandson, and they date your granddaughter. So, if talking about this is too weird, I completely understand. You’re my patient. I am here to listen to you without judgment. Listen to whatever you have to say. So, why don’t we just continue?

Trip. Hey, what are you doing right now? I just got home from work. I was just about to kick back with a glass of wine and watch a movie. Change of plans. You’re meeting me instead. I thought you were working a double tonight? Tomorrow. I swapped shifts with Dr. Grey. Cool. So, what’s the plan? I booked us a room with the Sailor Moon.

One that is not occupied this time. So, no interruptions from drunken gossip columnists? Or brothers coming home early from bad dates? It’ll be just you and me tonight. What do you think? I think… I’ll go pack a bag and see you there.

Well, if you, uh, you want your chair back… No, it’s fine. No, it’s okay. I’ll, I’ll give you some space. Don’t worry, Harris. I’m not gonna attack you again. I just wanted to say I’m sorry. Like

sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

You just called me Harris. That’s your name. I know that now. I’m Ava Vitale. You feeling better? Yeah, much. But earlier, I thought you were my dead son, Charlie. Yeah, Doctor, Doctor Evans explained. Oh, did she? Well, did she tell you why I’d attack my own child? No, she did not.

Um,

My son, Charlie, had, uh, issues. Mainly with me. Um, but ironically, back then when I was just fine, he wanted to have me committed to a mental hospital. So he kidnapped me. And he, uh, drugged my food, which started me having hallucinations. That’s awful. Yeah. But my son Tripp, he found me. Um, but I thought he was Charlie.

I was seeing blood everywhere. I was screaming. I just basically lost my grip on reality. So, uh, I ended up in the hospital. It happened again. Yeah, I thought that I saw Charlie trying to stab Tripp. Anyway, they, uh, flushed the drugs out of my system, and then just when I was starting to feel better,

the real Charlie showed up to try and kill me. My God. Yeah,

well, luckily, I’m very lucky that some, some people showed up, and they stopped Charlie. And then someone stopped him for good. Because right after I was let go from the hospital, Charlie was shot to death. Ava, I’m so sorry. Yeah. Anyway, hallucinations…

They stopped for a while And I was doing really really really great for a bit but then And I was having a rough time a couple of months ago. And they started up again. You know, Charlie, he was there, you know, and he was talking, he was just whispering in my ear and he was telling me to do terrible, terrible things.

And I

did.

I had a full on psychotic break and that’s how I ended up here. Dr. Evans said that she thought you were improving. Yeah, I was. I mean, I had been. You know, between the meds and the therapy, I thought the visions were gone.

Apparently not.

Anyway, I am sure you didn’t want to hear all of that. I just, um… I really wanted to come up to you and apologize for, you know, attacking you earlier. There’s nothing personal. Yeah, of course.

Okay, here’s. Man of few words. I, um, You seem like a really nice person. And, um, I just want you to rest assured that I am going to do my very best to make sure that nothing like that happens again. I’m going to get right on it with Mitrick. I have

never been attracted to women before. And I have, like, no experience in this. In dating, you mean? No, I mean, I’ve only really been in one real relationship in my whole entire life. And the guy turned out to be a lunatic. So it just makes me wonder if… You wonder what? Okay, um, I did a psych rotation in med school.

So I know all about, like, transference and avoidance. And I can’t help but think that my interest in women is, I don’t know, because of what one terrible man did to me. Is that what you think is happening? I don’t know. I mean, after everything that happened with Colin, it’s just like, I don’t trust my judgment anymore.

So, it’s entirely possible that my feelings for Chanel… Aren’t real.

Hey, what the hell? You know, that sign says you’re shut down. We are. Again. By Salem’s acting mayor. Why? Because I failed to display the City of Salem sticker in the window. A sticker that the City of Salem never sent me. Well then, how are you supposed to display it? Exactly. That’s it. This whole thing is totally bogus.

I don’t see any stickers around here. Yet, somehow, my business is the only one that Rawlings hit with a surprise inspection from the health department. He is out to get me, and it’s… He pretty much admitted as much. How come? Did he, uh, eat one of your… Spiked biscuits and spontaneously proposed to somebody?

Not funny, G. You’re right. It’s not funny. So… What is this guy’s problem? Why is he targeting you? I have no idea. But at this point, what difference does it make? Well… I mean, he can’t just shut you down because he has a personal beef with you. If he admitted that that’s what he did, then you gotta fight back.

You know, Mama agrees with you, and she has some idea how to go about it, but she won’t tell me what it is. She just stormed off, and Lord knows what she’s up to.

Pauline Price. So, that one’s a no brainer.

She’s, uh, she’s my wife. And, you know, I told you before that every time I try to picture her, I see Whitley King. So maybe it’s not such a no brainer after all. You know, why don’t we just take a break? Okay,

let’s go get some fresh air. Okay. Excuse me a second.

Paulina, what are you see Abraham. Now.

You know, you were, uh, you were so upset a little while ago. Now you, now you see me. Almost same. Yeah, the meds work fast. Um, I was feeling so much better that um, I was a little sneaky and I tried to wean myself off of them. Trust me, I won’t make that mistake again. Yeah, well I know what it’s like to think that you recovered.

And then you suddenly realize that you’re not.

You know, under different circumstances, I would, um… Ask what you’re in for. But I don’t want to pry. No, it’s fine. I don’t mind sharing. I To talk, listen, learn from one another? I’m all ears. Well, uh, before we get to me, I’d like to finish hearing about you. Do they know why you’re still having these…

Hallucinations? Well, my shrink thinks it’s a manifestation of my guilty conscience. Well, uh, what do you feel guilty about? I mean, if you don’t mind me asking that. Oh, man. Where do I begin?

I don’t even know why I brought this up. It’s not like anything can happen between Chanel and me after everything I did to her and her family. We’ve talked about this before. I know you understand that you were in an emotionally abusive relationship. And Colin manipulated you to do things you didn’t want to do.

Yeah, and I told her that. Not because it was an excuse. It just so like she could understand. And did she? Yeah, she did. I also told her even though we only met because Colin wanted me to destroy her life, I actually genuinely ended up liking her. And I still do. I

miss her.

Hmm. Have you felt this way about other friends? No. Does that mean that I’m bisexual? I don’t think that we have to put a label on it. But I do think that if you have romantic feelings for Chanel… You need to acknowledge that. Be honest with yourself. Okay,

I have romantic feelings for Chanel.

Mama is probably going all Mama Bear on some poor sap in City Hall and I so feel for him. Yeah, well, if anybody can get the job done, it’s Paulina Price. Oh, well here’s hoping. Anyway, I, I haven’t seen you in a while. How you been? I’ve been good. Yeah, I was, uh, I was out of town for a while,

so Where’d you go, Johnny? Uh, um, yeah, I was, um, I was in New Zealand. Oh. Oh, wow. Well, that must have been amazing. Yeah. Yeah, it was, uh, it was good. Will invited me out to, uh, see his film sets that I could shadow him. And, you know, I had nothing else going on, so… Well, I thought they would have been finished filming the movie by now.

Yeah, they’re working on the sequel. You should see what they have going on over there. The technology is sick. I bet. Yeah. So, did you see any sights while you were there? Yeah, I did. Uh, phew, New Zealand is… It’s beautiful. Yeah, I wish I could have stayed longer. How’s family? They’re good. Um, Ari is starting to speak with a Kiwi accent.

Henry’s getting just ridiculously tall. And? And what? You can tell me about Allie. You did see her, right? Yeah, I did see her.

You look so beautiful. Thanks. Oh, Tripp. Candlelight, champagne. And only one bed. I also noticed the do not disturb sign on the door. You didn’t have to do all this. Well. We said we wanted our first time to be perfect. I just hope I can live to die. You already have.

Paulina, what are you doing here? You agreed to give Abe some distance until he had a chance to you

are. And I thought you understood. That I’m not ready to go back to your place. It is our home. As much as I wish that you were there with me, more than anything, that is not what I’m here to ask. Whatever it is, the answer will still be the same. I just can’t be a good husband right now. But can you be a good mayor?

Look, if it’s too personal… Well, I mean, like you said, talk, listen, learn.

So, my, um, my older son, Tripp, uh, I had him with my once love, Steve Johnson, and, uh, he was taken away from me as a baby. My father sold them on the black market. That’s… I’m so sorry. Yeah. Needless to say, I was devastated. And, um, my father being the genius that he was, he thought that if he got me a new boyfriend, we’d fall in love, have another kid, and then magically I’d be cured.

And I’m guessing that didn’t happen. Love? No. Not now, but another kid. But, you know, when they placed newborn Charlie in my arms, I felt nothing.

And I couldn’t even look at him. Because when I did, he just, he reminded me of everything that I’d lost. You know, Steve. Tripp.

There was no way that I could raise him, right? So I gave him, I gave him to his father, Jimmy. He’s a nice guy. But whenever he’d bring little Charlie around, I’d just…

That’s high school.

God, the little boy, he just, he tried anything, anything he could to get my attention, you know. Get me to smile at him, give him a hug, and… Guess what I gave him. Nothing. Well, you’ve been traumatized. Yeah. It wasn’t Charlie’s fault though, was it? He was a child. He didn’t deserve to be punished for what my father did.

He wanted a mother’s love. He needed a mother’s love. And he didn’t get that. And so he grew up with hate in his heart. And he’d be horrible. Horrible, hateful things. Just like I

did. An innocent woman died. Because of me.

And I can’t say that Charlie made me do it.

Because it was a voice in my head. Ava,

you were well. It’s not the first time. That I’ve caused someone’s death. And you’ve got no idea what it feels like to be responsible for something so tragic. Unfortunately,

I know exactly what that feels

like. What? No, no, no, no, no. I asked for filet mignon, not filet. So… It’s okay. No, Wendy, you hate fish. Okay, I’m calling room service to have them fix this. No, no, no, it’s fine. I’m actually not that hungry for dinner. Maybe we could skip ahead. Oh, we could definitely do that.

Chanel even considering me to be a friend again is far beyond what I expected. To want anything more just seems like too much, right? Besides, I don’t deserve to be happy with her after everything that I did. That sounds like something that Colin would have put into your head. That you were undeserving.

That isn’t so. In fact, that was how Colin kept power over you. And now you’ve taken back your power. And you’re working on your own mental health. So it’s probably not a good idea to jump into a relationship right now. Yeah, maybe not. But it’s also not a good idea to keep repressing your own feelings.

I know you and Allie weren’t exactly on the best terms when she left. Oh yeah, you mean when my, uh, my own twin sister moved to a different hemisphere without even letting me know, let alone saying goodbye? I mean that whole mess between me and you, and her and Alex. But, well, I, I hope things are better between you guys.

Yeah. Yeah, Allie said sorry for, you know, leaving the way she did. But I get it. You know, she just needed to get out, start fresh. And she seems, you know, like she’s doing really well now that she, um… Now that she’s seeing someone else. Johnny, it’s fine. I heard about it months ago. And I was a little rattled at first, but I’m fine now, really.

So, what’s he like? What’s, um, honestly, he’s just, he’s a total tool. I mean, zero. Personality, and between you and me, he’s, he’s ugly. God, he’s so ugly. Oh, yeah, nice try. I’ve seen pictures of him, and he could pass for a, a Hemsworth brother. Oh, they’re, no, because they’re Australian. Yeah. He’s from New Zealand.

Yeah, no, that’s not my point. Johnny, you can tell me the truth, okay? He’s great, isn’t he? Yeah, he’s pretty cool. He’s pretty cool, and Allie seems like she’s happy with him, so… Well, I’m glad.

But to be honest, he doesn’t hold a candle to you. Chanel, nobody does.

What are you talking about? The acting mayor, Clint Rawlings, has gotten way too big for his bridges. He used the health department to shut down Chanel’s bakery again. Again? Um, well, it’s a long story, but the point is it’s not fair, it’s not right, and you’re the only one who can fix it. Well, how am I supposed to do that?

You were elected mayor of this town. Rawlings only stepped in when you were presumed dead. That’s your job, Abraham. You need to go take it back and kick that power trippin poser to the curb. If this was some random person, I wouldn’t even dream of asking, but it’s Chanel and you think of her as your own.

She poured her heart and soul into that bakery, which she was only able to open because of you. Me? Mm hmm. A couple of years ago, you launched an initiative to incentivize people of color to open businesses in the town square. You were so impressed with Chanel’s application that you passed it on to the city council and they approved it.

She went from being this… This lost girl to a thriving, independent woman, and oh, Abraham, if you just remembered all that, no, I just know you will do everything in your power to make sure that she knows Bakerie’s up and running again, so please, please, Abraham, please, just help my daughter before it’s too late.

Okay, well, it sounds like you were brainwashed into doing what you did. I mean, that is not your fault. And just, like, having mental illnesses and nerves. It doesn’t, it doesn’t fit with who I am.

Or who I thought I was. You know, the physical warfare, the psychological warfare, SEALs are trained to withstand it all, and I couldn’t resist orders to kill two innocent people. And then a few weeks ago it happened again. I was gonna kill a guy I didn’t even know.

I just do not understand why I’m so vulnerable to be controlled this way. I just had to make sure it didn’t happen again. That’s why I asked Dr. Evans to have me committed.

And I always, always thought of myself as

this elite warrior.

Invincible, you know? And nobody’s invincible.

And nobody likes being controlled.

Yeah. Well, all I know now is… I’m done. I’m done walking around worrying that any moment I can become somebody else’s pawn.

So how long’s it been since you talked to your son, Tripp? Oh, well, that’s been a while. Because the last time he came to visit a few months ago, I, um, shockingly thought he was Charlie. And I attacked him. So the doctors told him to stay away. Uh, they were afraid that seeing him would trigger me. It must be really hard.

Honestly, I was relieved. Yeah, I just, I can’t keep putting him through that. You know, I didn’t, I didn’t want to do that again to him, but… Recently the doctor said that I could see him again if I wanted to. But I keep saying no because I do not want to snap on him again. You know, I just, I, I can’t, I can’t keep dragging him through my own nightmare.

He doesn’t deserve it. Okay, what’s the alternative? You don’t see your son anymore? I

mean, is that, is that what you really want?

Ta da! Oh! Great! This is it! What, isn’t that what you meant when you said you wanted to skip ahead? Wow. No, I know, I know what you meant. And I’m sorry, but I can’t let just all of this go to waste.

Wait, is that? Chocolate fondue, baby. Oh my god, Tripp, this is my dream come true.

Good. Mm-hmm. best.

But what I said before I lie life. It’s not my dream come true. You are. Oh, what a coincidence. Because you’re mine.

Doc, what do I even say to her? Oh, hey Chanel, I think I’m bi. Oh, I also have romantic feelings for you, even though I almost had your whole family killed. Oh, by the way, let’s catch a movie. Yeah. Maybe a little more nuanced approach. Even if I did take a more nuanced approach, what if she freaks out on me?

What if she gets furious? Oh my god. What if she even laughs in my face? I can’t promise that won’t happen. But the last thing you want to have is any regret. And if you don’t talk to Chanel, you’ll just never know what might have been.

Thanks, Johnny. That was really sweet. I mean it. I think Allie was nuts to give you up. You know what? I’d say the same about Wendy. I’m pretty sure she’d disagree. I mean, Tripp, he’s a nice guy, but, well, you know what they say about them. Not this time. I just saw Wendy head into the Salem Inn. Oh, was Tripp with her?

No, but I’m sure he’s either already there or not far behind. She was carrying an overnight bag. Oh, I’m sorry. But you didn’t see it coming at all? No. No, I thought things were actually going great. Well, did she at least give you an explanation?

Yeah. Yeah, she did. She did.

See her? Really picking Tripp over me because you think I’m not over Chanel? Johnny, hello? What did Wendy say was her reason for breaking things off with you?

Paulina, listen, I know that you were worried about Chanel. Not just Chanel, but everyone in this town. Who knows what Mayor Wannabe will do next? Can I come talk to you for a second? Oh, sure. Yes, let’s go. You know, maybe Rollins leaves a lot to be desired, but Abe really needs to focus on his recovery. Kayla, I know you and Abe, you’ve been friends for a long time, but I am his wife.

Hello, hello, hello. Remember me? I’m the person that you’re arguing about. I may have lost my memory, but I still have a brain and free will. And this decision is all up to me.

And what I’ve decided is…

I’ll do it.

The idea of never seeing Tripp again? Oh, that is unimaginable.

But ever since we’ve been reunited, I have been nothing but a burden to him. And,

I don’t know, maybe it’s better if he just stays away. You think that’s what he wants?

Look, I know, I know that my son loves me, but all I do is cause him pain. You know, and he has had so much of that in his life.

Tripp has overcome things that you would not even believe. Do you know that he’s a doctor now? He’s dedicated his life. To helping people. Better, I’m so proud of him. You know, I’m not, I’m not a parent. But I can hear the love in your voice. And Tripp must feel that, so I know there’s no way he wouldn’t want to be cut off from you forever.

Yeah, but what if I attack him again? Yeah, I’m not, I’m not, I’m not gonna take the risk. I can’t. Because I need to protect Tripp. The way that I failed to protect Charlie. Yeah, but are you protecting him? Or are you protecting yourself?

I know you’re scared. I’m

scared too.

You can’t let it stop us from trying.

And if they say you’re ready, I say you try.

I’m sure your son would say the same thing.

That feel good? What do you think?

I’ve been looking forward to this so much.

But I’m a little bit nervous. Me too.

Maybe we’re putting too much pressure on ourselves. You know? Thinking it all has to be so perfect. Because honestly, just being here with you, It feels so right.

And I know this is our first time together, but there will be other times. Lots of other times. Yeah. So let’s give up on trying to be perfect. Just be in the moment. No pressure. Yeah.

Yeah, let’s do

that. Your turn. I’m

so sorry. I forgot to take my ringer off.

What’s wrong? It’s, it’s the hospital where my mom is. You better answer it. Uh, Tripp Johnson. Really? Uh, yeah, till 9 tonight or, or tomorrow between 7am and 9pm. Yeah, no, I understand. Thank you. Everything okay? Yeah, my mom just told her doctor that she wanted to see me, and they gave her the okay. Well, that’s amazing.

Yeah. I just, I gotta figure out how to get off work tomorrow before business hours are over. I’m working that double. Well, did I hear you say something about 9 p. m. tonight? Yeah, yeah, but I’m not leaving now. I mean, there’s no way. Not true. You should. Okay, your mom is lucid and you know she wants to see you.

You better get over there before anything changes. I want to. Leaving might ain’t so long. I’ll still be here, when you get back. Okay? I’m not going anywhere. You sure? Absolutely.

Thank you. For understanding. Always. When

Wendy broke things off with me, she said… Hey! Oh, sorry. Am I interrupting? Um, no. No, uh, Chanel and I were just catching up, but I gotta get going, so…

Hang in there, okay? And if there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know. Okay. Um,

what did Johnny mean? Anything he can do about what? Abraham!

Abraham! You’re an angel. You want to be the mayor again? Are you sure? Sounded sure to me.

I have to agree with Paulina. To have a purpose and a reason to get up in the morning. I think it would help with my recovery. And? I would be able to, I would be able to help others, too. Mm hmm. Oh, you would. And you would do so much good. As your doctor, I need to caution you. I, I, I know you think it’s too much, too soon.

And if it is, I give you my word that I will come right back. But I have to at least try to help my stepdaughter. Oh, you’re such a darling man.

Oh, I can’t thank you enough. Oh,

well. Well, I, uh, I spoke to my doctor. He called Tripp and he’s on his way. That’s great. Yeah. Fingers crossed, right? You know, everyone thinks I’m this badass, that I’m afraid of nobody and nothing, but… God, I’m literally shaking. It’s gonna be okay.

Thanks, Harris. Now for encouraging me to reach out. Of course.

Hey. Oh. Whoa, whoa. You don’t have to leave on my account, you know? No, I’m not. I just, actually, I have a session. It was, uh, it was nice talking to you. Yeah. Me too. I guess I’ll see you around.

Mom. Tripp.

Mom.

Mom. Okay. Let’s see what we got.

Yellow. In sports, the National Hockey League featured a busy five game slate last evening. Come in. Knock, knock. Oh! Oh, Johnny. Hey, Grandma. Welcome home. Come in. Great. And how was New Zealand? Oh it was incredible. I uh, I brought you back a souvenir. I picked it up at the mud baths. It’s supposed to be great for the skin.

Oh sweet. Thank you so much. You’re welcome. Um, Hey, do you have a patient right now? No I’m just catching up on my paperwork. Why? Um, well, I guess I just, I had something that I was hoping to talk to you about. Of course, anything.

I can’t even believe I’m about to say this, but I think I might still have feelings for Chanel. What kind of feelings? I don’t know. Romantic feelings, maybe.

Oh, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I got carried away because I’m just so grateful. It’s okay. It’s okay.

Oh, you know, Abraham Carver, you are a good man who always comes through for the people he loves. Oh, no, no, you don’t have to say anything, but I just have to say, one second, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Oh, Kayla, I know, I know I’d love to chat with you, but I just can’t wait to tell Chanel the good news.

I know you think I made a mistake. I, I hope I’m wrong. That makes two of us.

Why is this acting mayor guy out to get you? I have no freaking idea. Well, I’m sorry. Is there any way I can help? Thanks, but um, I don’t think so. I mean, before the bakery shut down, again, business was good, right? Yeah, it was. I mean, it took me a while to get my new assistant baker up to speed, but… You seem nervous.

Is everything okay? Yeah, it’s just, um, I just left therapy. And Dr. Evans encouraged me to talk to you. But I mean, if this isn’t a good time. No, no, it’s fine. What’s going on?

Okay. I’m, I’m gonna, I’m gonna say this, okay, and you don’t have to respond, but just please, let me get it out, okay?

Chanel, I have feelings for you, okay, romantic feelings, and I don’t know if you could ever return them, but if you could, could you just, like, let me know? If you want to. No big deal. Okay, I have to go.

[ Dramatic music ]

Liam: You can’t tell me how to protect my family, finn.

Finn: Steffy is not your family.

Liam: Yes, she is. She really, really is. We have a daughter together. You– you’re the one who just said we share this history. I’m not denying that. That history runs deep.

Finn: She’s my wife.

Liam: Yes, and me respecting that fact is not the same as me respecting you putting my daughter in danger. So, I’m asking myself, how am i supposed to trust you with her? I don’t know that you will keep sheila away from her and steffy agrees.

Finn: Yeah, and steffy and I, we’re going to work through that together as a family. So, I’m warning you, liam, you need to stay away from my wife.

Steffy: Based on these numbers, we’re still reaping the benefits of the hope for the future preview. Rome was definitely money well spent.

Ridge: Well, katie and her team did a real good job promoting it.

Steffy: Yeah. Have to make sure to thank her. She’s doing a lot of hard work.

[ Steffy sighing ]

Ridge: You think it was the right choice coming to the office?

Steffy: No, it is. It is. It’s a– it’s a good distraction.

Ridge: Taking the kids away from finn was very difficult, I’m sure.

Steffy: Yeah. Feels like my heart is just ripped out of my chest. I’m just running on adrenaline.

Ridge: Yes. But you know, you– you did the right thing moving to dad’s house, right? Kids are safe.

Steffy: Saw all the beefed up security downstairs. Thank you for that.

Ridge: Sheila’s a real threat and I know how you protect your kids. I’d do the same.

Steffy: I appreciate everything you’re doing, dad.

Ridge: You know you’re loved, right? I will always be here for you.

Steffy: Thank you, dad. I feel good at granddad’s, I really do. And I know the children will be safe there.

Ridge: You can count on it.

Steffy: All right. Let’s get to work.

Brooke: The interview was amazing.

Hope: I know, a five-page spread.

Ridge: Hey.

Hope: Hi. I’m sorry, we didn’t– we didn’t realize that you would be in today.

Steffy: Why not?

Hope: Well, we just assume with, you know, everything that’s happening with sheila that you might want to work from home.

Steffy: Well, I can’t hide from the world forever. Life goes on.

Brooke: Uh, it seems like we might be interrupting something, so we can just come back.

Hope: Is– is everything okay? Are you okay?

Steffy: Well, you might as well know what’s going on. It’s going to get out eventually.

Brooke: What?

Steffy: I’ve taken the kids and I’ve moved into my grandfather’s house.

Hope: S– so, what does this mean exactly? You left finn?

Liam: Look, I get it. I know it’s got to hurt with steffy and the kids away.

Finna: Got to hurt? Liam, you have no idea how much I love steffy.

Liam: I actually do. I know a lot about loving steffy. (Buzz) we’re such great friends we should have a nickname,

Hope: I can’t believe that sheila saved kelly.

Brooke: What was sheila doing at the beach in the first place?

Steffy: Finn says he doesn’t know. He said it wasn’t planned or anything.

Ridge: It doesn’t matter if it was planned or not. She always finds a way back into his life.

Steffy: And my daughter’s life. Look, I’ll do whatever I can to protect them. That’s why I left and went to my grandfather’S.

Hope: But why do you feel like you have to protect them from finn? I mean, he’s your husband. That’s hayes’s father. You don’t actually think that he would hurt them, do you?

Steffy: Not intentionally, hope, but you didn’t see the video. He was clinging on to sheila like he did not want to let go. And then what happened yesterday with my daughter at the beach? My god.

Brooke: Well, glad she’s okay. I can only imagine what she must be feeling.

Steffy: It kills me to say this, but I don’t think I can trust finn to keep sheila away from us. Everything that’s happened recently, I just– I can’T.

Ridge: You’re doing the right thing.

Steffy: Oh, I am. I will do everything I can to protect kelly and hayes.

Brooke: And you have to think about protecting yourself too. Sheila did shoot you and shoot her own son.

Steffy: That’s why this is so confusing. Finn said he has this weird connection to sheila. I– I don’t know how she’s done it. I– I don’t know after everything she’s done to us, it’s like she’s gotten in his head.

Brooke: She is his birth mother, so maybe there’s some sort of natural innate draw to her.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, it breaks my heart.

Ridge: It doesn’t matter what the draw is. It puts all of us in danger and we can’t have that.

Finn: You know all about loving steffy? You better watch your mouth. You know what? You don’t know anything about true love. All right, you take advantage, and if you think I’m going to just sit back while you try to destroy my family–

Liam: Finn, steffy and i were a family once, too. We share a daughter together. We were very much in love. Now, those feelings evolve, but they don’t just magically disappear.

Finn: Man, you have an ego! You’re talking about my wife.

Liam: Okay. Whether you believe it or not, this is not about me breaking up you and steffy. This is about me protecting my family and yes, steffy is a part of my family.

Finn: I don’t believe for a second that this is about safety. You want steffy back. Your marriage to hope is imploding, so you’re doing what you always do. You’re running back to steffy. That’s why you took the video of sheila. I mean, you showed it to her.

Liam: No, I showed her the video so that she could make an informed decision, yes, about the safety of our daught– dude, you had your arms around the psychopath who tried to murder your wife, the mother of your child. This– this– this is the same woman th telling me to stay away from? Where are your priorities? If– if the roles were reversed, would you have kept quiet? Honestly? Would you? Would you keep that to yourself?

Finn: Liam, this has been going on. You’ve been trying to make steffy feel sorry for you ever since hope started making eyes at thomas. So don’t give me any of this.

Liam: You know what? I give up. I don’t care. All right, I’m not going to convince you. I don’t care what you think. I had no issue with you at all until I witnessed, with my own eyes, this connection between you and sheila, okay? Just why is this so hard for you? Just admit that you messed up! That’s it! You didn’t just embrace sheila physically. You embraced her emotionally and that choice put my daughter and steffy and yes, even your own son in jeopardy. Why would I let you continue to do that? (Vo) crabfest is back at red lobster.

Hope: This is shocking. I mean, you and finn, you seem so solid.

Steffy: Yeah, that’s how I felt. At least until sheila came back into the picture. Sheila, being finn’s birth mother, I mean, it has been difficult. Whether I wanted to admit it or not. You know, it’s been an obstacle for us. That didn’t mean I– I didn’t love him and want to be with him. This whole situation just kills me.

Ridge: Well, moving out was necessary. You did what you had to do.

Steffy: Yeah.

Brooke: I understand your feelings, but finn is your husband and he must be devastated.

Steffy: Oh, he is devastated. And so am I. He’s a wonderful father. He’s an incredible man. And like I said, I– I love him. That– that hasn’t changed.

Ridge: Okay, but there’s still this– this weakness when it comes to his mother. He can’t stay away from her.

Steffy: Yeah, I know, it’s terrifying.

Brooke: She is a sociopath, a master manipulator.

Ridge: And a threat to all of us and we will deal with this in our way, but right now I got to take care of my family, my kids, my grandkids and that means no contact with sheila. No hugging outside the courtroom. I gotta make sure your husband knows that. Excuse me.

[ Door shutting ]

Hope: Steffy, I’m– I’m so sorry that you’re having to go through this. I mean, I know a little bit about what it feels like when your entire life implodes and, um, I mean, I know liam must be worried about you and kelly.

Steffy: Yeah, he’s fiercely protective of kelly. But just to be clear, I– I… my decision to leave finn has nothing to do with liam. Okay?

Hope: Okay. But I mean, you also have to know that if it really is over between you and finn, that liam will probably be waiting there in the wings.

Finn: It– it is just so obvious that you’re trying to sabotage my relationship with steffy, but guess what, liam? You’re forgetting one thing, she loves me. She loves our family. She won’t walk away from that.

Liam: Finn, I know she loves you. But guess what? She loves her children more than anything and she can’t trust you right now. Why would she? You put her and everything that she cares about at risk because you refuse to walk away from this sick connection you have to sheila.

Finn: You need to hear me. I am not going to allow you to take my family away from me. You need to stay away from steffy.

Liam: Finn, I am hearing you, but steffy is kelly’s mother. I’m not walking away, I’m sorry.

Finn: You are so unbelievable. See, you– you– you act all righteous and honorable, but you are so– you are so toxic. You’re blatantly using my birth mother as a way to manipulate my wife against me.

Liam: Okay. All right. Here’s– here’s what I’m using, finn. I’m using the truth and the truth is you can’t be trusted right now. That’s a fact. And on top of everything else, you put my daughter at risk. Kelly almost drowned because of you.

Finn: I’m a doctor, liam. I save lives every day. No one’s more conscientious than me. And guess what? Kelly’s okay. She’s fine. So stop using what happened at the beach as an excuse to go after my wife. You are not going to have a future with steffy. I won’t allow it.

Liam: How about this? You never saw what steffy and I had. You weren’t around. So, how would you know? But it was extraordinary and I gave it up.

Finn: Yeah. Yeah, you did. And she’s so much better for it. I’m not going to allow you… to take steffy away from me. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I’ve been waiting for someone like her my whole life. So, any idea that you have, any thought of a future with her, you need to put that out of your mind. I won’t let it happen. (Rebecca) this can’t be real. that in the past, hearing that from steffy probably would have sent me into a tailspin worrying about how liam would react and what it would mean for our marriage, but I have to say, it is a relief not to be bogged down in that drama now.

Brooke: You say that like you don’t care that your marriage is coming to an end.

Hope: Of course, I care, mom. I never wanted this for myself or for my children, but I also can’t live in regret. I have to move forward. I have to be excited about something, like my line. I have so many new ideas, like I– I want to change the messaging and really capitalize off of the success of rome.

Brooke: And what if liam wants to be with steffy?

Hope: Well, I think you and I both know it’s not going to be that easy. There is no way finn is going to give up his marriage without a fight.

Finn: Come on, steffy. Come on, why aren’t you texting me back?

[ Knocking on door ]

[ Door clicks open ]

Ridge: I talked to someone at the nurse’s station. They told me where to find you.

Finn: Look, ridge, I know why you’re here and you can just– you can save your breath. You’re not going to tell me anything I haven’t already heard.

Ridge: Let’s find out, shall we? I trusted you with my daughter’s happiness and with her safety, and you failed on both counts, so, um, it’s a problem for me.

Liam: Okay, well, I’ll add it to the list of problems I’m dealing with right now.

Ridge: Explain something to me. You– you’re sitting there with a little bit of an attitude and I don’t get it. You created this problem. You let sheila back into your life. You put a little girl in danger. So, what’s going on with you? What are you doing?

Steffy: Thanks, donna. One scoop. Don’t let them talk you into any more.

[ Engine revving ]

Liam: Hey.

Steffy: Hi.

Liam: Uh, door was open. Also, I– I just saw donna leaving with the kids.

Steffy: Oh, no, I totally forgot that you wanted to take kelly this afternoon.

Liam: No, no. It’s okay. It’s okay. You got a lot on your mind. Um, also, uh, gives us a chance to chat. I– um, I just had a visit from finn.

Steffy: What happened?

Liam: No, it’s– it’s– it’s all right, it’s okay. Uh, no blood was shed, I promise. Uh, the only reason I bring it up is because I said something to him and I just– I– I think you should probably know about it.

Steffy: Look, I know that you’re determined to protect me, kelly, and hayes and I appreciate that but–

Liam: No, yeah, of course, I’m– I’m going to do everything in my power to– to make sure all of you are safe. And I told finn as much, but that’s not– that’s not all I said. Um…

[ Laughs ] I told him because it’s true… that I love you and I know a lot about loving you because I spent most of my adult life in love with you. I mean, we made a beautiful, smart, inquisitive little girl out of that love and you don’t– you don’t just forget a love like that. I know I haven’T. And if I had to bet, I would say you haven’t either… because it’s in you. I mean, it– it becomes a part of your dna. And… I’m a part of you, you’re a part of me. I– I don’t– I don’t think that’s ever going to change. Here’s– here’s what I’m saying. I want you to know that I know I was a fool to let you go. And– and if I ever got a chance at a do-over… I wouldn’t make that mistake again. I don’t think I’d ever let you go again.

Update written by Dustin

At The Invader, Alexis is furious about Senator Wilkins being acquitted even though he was caught red handed and indicted on criminal charges. Alexis and Gregory discuss how the senator’s attorneys must have outsmarted the incompetent prosecutors. Alexis tells Gregory the senator can escape prosecution because he can afford great lawyers. She then pounds on her desk and tells Gregory that the whole situation makes her want to break something. Gregory says, “why don’t you?” Alexis replies that she might also enjoy sweeping her hand across her desk and pushing everything into the floor. Gregory says that the didn’t mean for Alexis to take his situation literally. He said he knew of a place that would help them dispose of their aggressive feelings. He said that it was an establishment that Finn and Chase had recommended and that he had come to take their recommendations seriously.

The two of them end up at an axe-throwing bar. Alexis proves to be not as good at axe-throwing as Gregory, but she quickly learns how to hit the bullseye. The activity helps Alexis blow off some steam and the two of them have an excellent time until Gregory’s ALS causes him to become symptomatic. He then became emotional and admitted to Alexis that his pain is growing worse by the day. This turn of events brings about a serious discussion of life and Gregory’s bucket list. Alexis does her best to empathize with Gregory as he is moved to tears thinking about how bad his illness may become. Alexis gives Gregory a big hug. He tells Alexis that he has started to avoid both Chase and Finn because he is concerned that he will no longer be able to conceal his illness.  Alexis encourages Gregory to come clean with Finn because he is a medical doctor and will be able to help. Gregory insisted he did not want to dump his problems on Finn.

Olivia is surprised to see Carly when she comes by the Metro Court to check on her. Carly remarks how strange it is to be standing in her old office. She tells Olivia that she is surprised that Nina hasn’t taken it over. Olivia says she would never allow that to happen and Carly thanks her. Carly explains that she is at the Metro Court because she could not help but be concerned with everything Olivia is going through. Nina hears the conversation between Carly and Olivia and can’t help but insert herself into the conversation. Nina thanks Olivia (in front of Carly) and tells Olivia they can have a detailed discussion the following morning. After Nina leaves, Carly immediately asks what Nina was talking about. Olivia then admits that she is helping Nina and Sonny plan the wedding. She also tells Carly that the ceremony is going to be at the Metro Court. Carly is surprised that Nina and Sonny would ask Olivia to plan their wedding. Olivia concedes that it was actually her idea. Olivia does admit that she is doing it because it will distract her from the ongoing situation with Ned (Eddie). Olivia tells Carly that Tracy wants to have Ned (Eddie) institutionalized. Carly says that she thinks that is a bit extreme. Olivia says that she believes that Leo is handling the whole situation better than she is.

To Olivia’s surprise, Carly offers to help with the wedding. Olivia can’t believe Carly would even want to help her after the way she treated her at the hospital. Carly tells Olivia that they will always be best friends. They hug and reflect on key moments in their friendship and then Carly offers to take Olivia somewhere to have fun and take her mind off of things. “Where are we going?” Olivia asks.  “You’ll see,” Carly says.

Portia is sitting at home when the doorbell rings. She is ecstatic to see Trina at the door and the two embrace. Portia exclaims, “you’re home.”  Trina asks her mother if that is OK? Portia then sees Spencer at the door carrying Trina’s things and her facial expression immediately changes. Portia says that seeing Trina is the highlight of her day.  Portia says it is fine that Trina has come home but she admits she has been using Trina’s room for extra storage.  She tells Trina she will have to move some books and things out of her way.  Trina heads upstairs and Spencer says he will take Trina’s things upstairs, Portia tells him that won’t be necessary. Portia continues by telling Spencer that her house is Trina’s home and that she will always be there for Trina and that she is more that capable of helping Trina move her stuff upstairs. Spencer says that he is aware of that but that Trina asked for his help and she is expecting him to stick around. Portia says that she is concerned about Spencer being around Trina because she believes that Sonny (Spencer’s uncle) may have been the intended target of the sniper that critically injured Curtis. Spencer says that he is by no means perfect, but he insists he is nothing like his Uncle Sonny or Victor. Portia refuses to let Spencer go upstairs and say “good night” to Trina. Portia tells Spencer that she will tell Trina that he had to “take off.”  Spencer leaves and Trina returns downstairs, Portia tells Trina that Spencer had to go. Portia lies to Trina again when she tells Trina that Spencer was probably thinking about his baby brother. Trina quizzes Portia about the house and Portia discusses her plans for the house now that Curtis is paralyzed. Portia tells Trina she plans to make the entire house accessible for Curtis. Portia tells Trina that Curtis hasn’t exactly agreed to even move back into their home.  Portia tells Trina that patients sometimes have a difficult time with these types of injuries and that she just has to be patient and wait for Curtis to come to terms with being paralyzed.

Dante is working in an interrogation room for some peace and quiet when Jordan comes in and asks what he is working on. He asks why Jordan is interested since she is no longer the commissioner. She says just because she is not the commissioner doesn’t mean she can’t be curious. Dante concedes that he is working on the Metro Court pool shooting and informs Jordan that the gun was traced back to the WSB. Jordan wonders why the WSB isn’t more involved in the case. Dante says the only action the WSB has taken is to totally turn its back on Anna. Dante also shared with Jordan that Anna was having a tough time. Jordan said that she was willing to help in any way she could and said that she owed it to Anna and Curtis. They briefly discuss her new job as Deputy Mayor and then she leaves to let him concentrate on his casework.

Sonny is watching movies with Donna at his penthouse. When the movie ends and Donna falls asleep, Sonny turns on a boxing match. He then calls Dante to give him updates but Dante doesn’t want to hear anything about the fight because he is recording it to watch later. Sonny inquires why Dante is still at work. Sonny tells Dante he will talk to him later.

When Nina gets home they talk about his love of boxing and then he asks her why she was late. Sonny quickly realized that Nina wasn’t at all interested in boxing. Nina said that anything that made Sonny smile made her happy. As Sonny and Nina cuddled, Nina recalled having just left Metro Court. Nina said that she had seen Carly. Sonny said he didn’t want Nina to feel that she had to avoid Carly. Nina said that she had gone to Olivia’s office to talk about wedding plans, but she said that it is difficult to make wedding plans without a wedding date. Sonny said that he would marry Nina with a justice of the peace or in Las Vegas if he had to. Sonny and Nina started to kiss. They later agreed to pick a date for the wedding the following day.

Marshall goes to see Curtis and brings a deck of cards. They play ‘go fish’ like they did when he was a kid and talk about the rehab facility Curtis is supposed to go to. Curtis doesn’t want to go because he feels like by going to the rehabilitation facility he would be giving up and accepting being paralyzed but Marshall does his best to try to change his mind. Curtis tells Marshall that Portia is determined to stick with him through this difficult time but Curtis tells Marshall that just seeing Portia is a reminder of the life that they will never have together.  At this point, Jordan enters Curtis’ hospital room and Marshall leaves them alone to talk. She asks Curtis if he remembers anything about the events surrounding the shooting. Curtis asks Jordan why she is investigating the shooting, now that she is deputy mayor. However, he promises to tell her if anything comes back to him.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Alex exits his apartment right as Stephanie is coming home and greets him. Stephanie comments on the great weather and then mentions that she finished the book on time management that Alex wanted to read, so she says he can come by and get it later. Alex then thinks back to Chad telling him to stop coming over. Alex then tells Stephanie that it’s okay as he’ll probably never read it anyway and walks away. Stephanie guesses she’ll see him later then.

Rafe and Jada sit together at the Brady Pub as Rafe is reading Leo’s column and comments on Alex Kiriakis moving in across the hall from Stephanie and Chad, noting how awkward it must be to live across from your ex. Jada questions Rafe talking to her about a gossip column instead of talking about Mayor Rawlings giving Shawn his job.

Shawn brings Belle to the police commissioner’s office. Belle comments that she’s so glad they lifted his suspension but questions what they are doing in Rafe’s office. Shawn reveals that it’s no longer Rafe’s office, but his. Belle asks what he’s talking about. Shawn then announces that he is officially the new police commissioner.

John finds Brady packing Rachel’s bag at home. Brady talks about preparing for Rachel to leave for good and he has an hour before he has to drop her off with Kristen. John tells Brady he’s sorry as he still can’t believe they gave Kristen full custody. John calls it a real nightmare but Brady says in a nightmare, you wake up and things go back to normal but because of the judge’s decision, nothing will ever be normal again.

Kristen joins EJ in the living room of the DiMera Mansion and calls it a beautiful night. EJ tells Kristen that he has some wonderful news and informs her that he asked Nicole to marry him. Kristen responds that it can’t compete with her amazing news as she announces that her daughter Rachel is coming home to live with her for good.

Chad plays with his kids at home as Stephanie walks in. The kids show Stephanie cards they made for Rachel as they are having a sleepover for Rachel’s first night at the DiMera Mansion. Stephanie comments on Kristen getting full custody as Chad sends the kids to go get ready. Stephanie feels bad for Brady. Stephanie then asks Chad if he’s seen Alex today. Chad says no and asks why. Stephanie mentions just running in to Alex in the hallway and he totally blew her off. Stephanie asks if Chad has any idea why. Chad claims he doesn’t know why and suggests maybe he had a bad day at work. Stephanie calls it weird, like Alex really didn’t want to engage and barely looked at her. Stephanie then gets a text and says there’s a change of plans as she’s been asked to come pitch a new marketing plan for a new venture which would be a big account to land. Chad tells her to go. Stephanie says she wanted to be at the house with him and the kids but Chad says it will be fine. Stephanie kisses him and says he’s very understanding which is one of the many reasons he’s an excellent boyfriend. Stephanie asks if Chad is going to pretend it’s a good thing that Kristen got custody. Chad feels he has no choice because there’s no way he’s going to make an enemy out of Kristen.

Kristen comments on EJ not seeming excited that she got full custody of her daughter. EJ asks if she blackmailed a judge. Kristen responds that she didn’t have to lift a finger. EJ doesn’t believe that. Kristen states that when Brady pulled a gun on her, she thought she had a shot at shared custody but she won the jackpot. EJ congratulates her. Kristen asks if he’s being sincere. EJ says he’s a parent so he knows how painful it is to be separated from your child and he wouldn’t wish that on her. Kristen thanks him and says that means a lot to her. EJ adds that Kristen beat Brady at his own game which delights her to know.

Brady talks to John about Rachel growing up but still loving her doll. Brady talks about being the one who knows what Rachel’s interests are and knowing what to do when she is scared. John says everyone knows how much Brady loves his daughter. Brady regrets pulling a gun on Kristen and giving the court every reason to give custody to Kristen. John agrees that it’s not fair. Brady asks how anyone in the world could think Kristen’s influence could be good for any kid and now there’s nothing he can do about it. John is sure Brady would do almost anything to fix it, like buying a car online with an out of state license to whisk his daughter away under the cover of darkness. Brady calls that a good idea that he wishes he thought of. John says he did and will act on that plan within an hour. Brady questions what he’s talking about. John explains the way the wi-fi is wired at their home and how everything runs through him because of his work with Black Patch, so he knows Brady ordered a car online from Texas. Brady questions John spying on him and claims he’s been looking for that car for awhile and finally found it so he got it. John points out Brady having it delivered to the outskirts of town instead of to his home. Brady questions John following him too. John guesses Brady will have a headstart and be a couple states away before anyone realizes. John admits it’s a pretty smart plan initially. Brady acknowledges it wasn’t smart enough to fool him. Brady then asks if John is going to try to stop him.

Rafe admits to Jada that he was surprised when he found out Mayor Rawlings gave Shawn his job, but no one wants to hear him complain about it. Jada says he’s allowed to vent and be upset. Rafe asks what he’s going to vent about when he broke the rules. Jada points out that Shawn did too. Rafe calls it completely different situations. Jada blames Shawn for Rawlings knowing about them in the first place which Rafe notes he didn’t do intentionally. Jada feels it still has to hurt that Shawn got his job. Rafe asks if she’s trying to make him snap. Jada says she’s just trying to help him be more honest about his feelings. Rafe admits that it stings a lot and he hates it, but it was going to suck no matter who they gave his job to. Jada question why Shawn. Rafe asks who else they should have given it to. Jada suggests herself.

Belle doesn’t understand how Shawn is the new commissioner. Shawn explains that the acting Mayor wanted him to take over for Rafe. Belle questions him just saying yes. Shawn clarifies that he turned it down at first and even said Rafe was the right man for the job, then suggested Jada take the job but Rawlings pointed out that Jada was implicated as well as Rafe. Shawn adds that Mayor Rawlings told him if he didn’t take the job, he wouldn’t let him come back, so it was either this or nothing. Shawn asks if Belle thinks he should have walked away.

Chad brings the kids to the DiMera Mansion. Kristen hugs the kids and thanks them for coming, noting that Rachel will be so happy to see them. Kristen says Rachel will be there very soon and takes the kids to see their bedroom upstairs. Chad comments to EJ about Kristen getting full custody. EJ notes that Kristen swears that she didn’t bribe the judge. Chad informs EJ that he took his advice and told Alex to back off and admits it’s paying off.

Alex meets with Yuri at the bar. Alex mentions that Brady won’t be joining them but assures that he’s as excited as he is about Yuri’s collaboration with Basic Black. Yuri states that they are going to make some money together. Alex says there are some important things to have in place first such as marketing and PR. Yuri reveals he already thought of that and thinks it would be prudent to bring in an outside candidate which he’s already taken care of. Yuri declares he got the best in the business and she’s on her way now, which turns out to be Stephanie. Stephanie joins them and asks Yuri about this being the project he wanted to see her about. Yuri brings up Stephanie and Alex working together in the past to great success and says he’d like Alex to oversee Stephanie’s role as she’s the best in the business. Yuri asks if they don’t mind working closely together. Stephanie says of course not and it will be great but Alex says he’s sorry as this can’t happen.

Chad tells EJ that he was firm, assertive, and told Alex what’s what. EJ brings up what would Stefano do. Chad states that Alex heard him and agreed to keep up his end of the agreement as he apparently blew off Stephanie in the hall and barely spoke to her, which left her confused because she’s unaware of his warning. Chad doesn’t like keeping things from Stephanie but thinks in this case, it’s for the best as soon Alex will be out of their lives and she’ll barely know he’s gone. EJ credits his stellar advice. Kristen returns and accuses them of coming up with the worst plan. Kristen reveals she heard them talking and declares that what Chad did is going to backfire on him spectacularly.

Rafe questions if Jada wanted his job. Jada says she’s just asking why it couldn’t have been her if Mayor Rawlings was going to give someone the job. Rafe calls her a great cop and he’s sure she’d make an even better commissioner so he doesn’t understand why Rawlings didn’t give her the job. Jada complains of being a person of color and having to see a flawed white guy just walk up and get the job that she’s qualified for. Jada says she’s not saying that Shawn’s not a great detective, but he just got busted for drinking on the job. Rafe adds that Jada has been in the center of their major investigations for the past 6 months. Jada argues that Shawn just walks in and gets a shiny new job and office. Rafe jokes that it sounds like he’s not the one who needed to vent. Jada says she will stop because she sounds bitter and petty. Rafe assures she’s neither of those things. Jada brings up how this happened at her last job. Rafe calls it wrong in so many ways. Jada admits it’s not Shawn’s fault and she doesn’t blame him, noting that he did decline the job and even recommended Rafe, but she can’t help but feel upset that he came in at the right place, right time, and right skin tone.

Belle tells Shawn that Rafe was a really popular commissioner that everybody loved. Shawn calls him a great boss but asks Belle again if she thinks he should’ve turned it down. Belle thinks she would have reservations about him taking this on because he’s still in a fragile place and he’s been struggling with what happened with his dad. Belle admits that he’s making great progress with Marlena but there’s still a ways to go. Shawn asks if she thinks the job is too much for him. Belle calls him the strongest person she knows so she’s not doubting him. Shawn gets that she’s afraid he’s going to relapse and start drinking again which Belle admits. Shawn feels it’s a good thing as he’s never going to let his guard down. Shawn insists he knows the importance of this job as he had three family members serve honorably. Belle assures that she’s proud of him. Shawn understands her doubts but suggests this challenge could be what he needs to finally heal and start believing in himself again. Belle insists that he doesn’t have to prove himself to her as she believes in him more than anyone else. Shawn asks if that means she’s on board. Belle thinks that if he wants to do this, he will be the best Commissioner Brady there ever was as Shawn then hugs her.

John feels if he tried to stop Brady, he’d wind up unconscious on the floor and Brady would still take off with his daughter. Brady guesses he understands how willing he is to protect his daughter. John acknowledges that Brady is the only person that can stop himself from doing this. Brady questions John thinking he’s making a big mistake. John points out that to the cops, he’s going to be a kidnapper but he’s most worried about Kristen having unlimited resources which means he will never not be on the run. John warns that Brady and Rachel will be constantly looking over their shoulder and will never be able to settle anywhere. Brady argues that it’s better than doing nothing and shouts that he has to act. John warns Brady about the corner he will back Rachel in to and how she’ll never see her friends again. John shouts that this is no life for a little girl and warns that the day will come where Rachel will hate him for that. Brady insists that he’s thought about all of this and gone through every scenario. Brady knows it will be a challenge to be on the run but the alternative is Kristen poisoning Rachel every day and turning her against them every day. John complains that running is not the only option and urges him to stay and fight. Brady doesn’t want to lose. John believes Brady will prove to be the better parent. Brady worries that Kristen will be driving Rachel away from him. John warns that if Brady defies the court order, this will be over and he’ll never be safe from the law or Kristen because when they find him, he’ll lose his daughter forever and Kristen will win.

Kristen says she’s sorry for interrupting EJ and Chad’s meeting of the minds but they were speaking out in the open and sounded so proud of their scheme. EJ argues that it’s not a scheme. Kristen says she’d expect it from EJ but Chad is smarter than this. Kristen questions Chad taking EJ’s relationship advice now. Chad says usually he’d agree with her, but in this situation, EJ was right as he had a problem in his relationship, they came up with a solution and so far it seems to be working. Kristen asks what happens when Alex tells Stephanie that Chad went behind her back to scare off the competition. Chad argues that Alex is not competition and he’s not going to say anything. Kristen asks why he wouldn’t. Chad states that they have a gentlemen’s agreement which Kristen doesn’t believe.

Stephanie questions Alex not wanting to work with her. Alex says it’s not that he doesn’t want to. Yuri questions what’s going on here since Stephanie is the best in the business. Alex argues that Stephanie already does PR for Titan while Basic Black is a subsidiary of DiMera and they are bitter rivals. Alex adds that Stephanie will be working for Maggie and could unintentionally pass on important information. Stephanie asks if he’s saying she’s stupid and argues that he knows he can trust her as she’s a professional. Yuri questions why Alex is resisting this. Alex says he’d rather not say and is just trying to do what he’s supposed to. Stephanie doesn’t understand, so Alex tells her to ask Chad. Stephanie questions what the hell Chad has to do with this.

Kristen questions Chad thinking he’s safe because the guy who has a thing for his girlfriend agreed to not make him look foolish in her eyes. EJ feels she’s putting a very negative spin on this. Kristen says she’s calling it as she sees it. Chad repeats that Alex said he wouldn’t say anything. Kristen mocks the idea of men never breaking their word. Chad talks about how disruptive Alex was in he and Stephanie’s relationship. Kristen says she sympathizes with that but insists that EJ’s horrendous idea will backfire on him and when it does, Stephanie will see Alex in a whole new light because Chad made him the victim. Kristen remarks that Stefano would be so proud of them.

Jada tells Rafe that she’s done venting. Rafe jokes that he could listen for another hour or two if she needs. Rafe states that he agrees with everything she said. Jada can’t believe that tomorrow morning she has to report to her new boss, who is a drunk who put his own father in a coma right as Shawn enters the Pub with Belle. Jada then turns around and awkwardly greets Shawn.

Alex claims to Stephanie that Chad doesn’t want her work at Titan to be put in jeopardy if Maggie finds out. Stephanie says nice try but that’s not what he meant. Alex says they don’t have to have this conversation but Stephanie says they are going to. Yuri remarks that they have a very interesting relationship. Alex says it’s not a relationship. Stephanie questions if they are not friends. Alex responds that he’s just trying to do the right thing. Stephanie asks what the hell that even means and what is really going on as she demands the truth. Alex then reveals that Chad thinks he wants her back and warned him to stay away from her by telling him to back off or else. Stephanie realizes that’s why Alex wouldn’t speak to her in the hallway. Alex repeats that he’s just trying to do the right thing by her and Chad. Yuri asks if they can start over now that it’s out in the open. Stephanie decides Alex doesn’t get out of this that easily and neither does Chad, as she then storms out of the bar. Alex complains that she wasn’t supposed to hear all that as they had a gentlemen’s agreement.

Chad complains that he doesn’t know what he was thinking. EJ questions him listening to Kristen. Chad worries that Kristen is right that he made the whole thing worse. Chad admits he didn’t trust Alex to be around Stephanie so he questions trusting Alex to be quiet about their agreement. Chad worries about Stephanie finding out. Chad tells them to tell the kids he’ll be back but he has to go deal with this before his whole life explodes and rushes out. Kristen wishes him luck and remarks that she’s glad she could help. EJ complains that it was all going well until Kristen stuck her nose in. EJ asks if Kristen is trying to sabotage their family. Kristen responds that he can’t ruin her evening because Brady will be there with Rachel any minute and that’s all that matters to her as nothing else is important.

Brady knows John is trying to help but his mind is made up. John reminds Brady that he regretted pulling a gun on Kristen. Brady calls that different. John asks how since Brady’s impulsiveness cost him the first time and this time, it will cost him everything. John asks what if Rachel never forgives him. Brady says it’s a risk he has to take and he has to get going as he doesn’t want to miss his head start or risk Kristen tracking him down at the state line. John urges Brady to think about this. John warns that Brady and Rachel’s whole lives depends on this decision. Brady tells John that he loves him, then takes the bags and exits the room.

Jada tells Shawn that she was just venting but she knows he’s not a drunk and what happened with his dad was an accident. Rafe adds that it’s been a frustrating day for everyone. Jada tells Shawn that she’s so sorry. Shawn knows that Jada is embarrassed that he walked in on that, but the truth is, he’s the one that should be. Shawn brings up what he did to Rafe and then the Mayor turns around and gives him his job. Rafe acknowledges that he didn’t ask for it. Shawn says Rafe still doesn’t deserve this and apologizes. Shawn doesn’t know what else to say. Rafe tells him to just do a good job as that’s all that matters in the end.

Yuri tells Alex that he’s had business deals implode over the years but it’s always about money and he’s never seen this before. Alex tells him not right now. Yuri asks if he’s really that upset about what happened. Alex asks if he saw how upset Stephanie was when she left. Yuri points out that she’s mostly upset at Chad. Yuri asks if Alex is really that crazy about Stephanie. Alex admits that he is. Yuri says he doesn’t really care about this domestic soap opera love triangle, but he sees that Alex’s chances of stealing Stephanie back are 60-40 or maybe a little more, so he congratulates him. Alex repeats that they had a gentlemen’s agreement.

Chad goes home to find Stephanie pouring glasses of wine. Stephanie notes that he’s home earlier than she thought and asks if he wants a glass. Chad declines and says he was hoping she’d be back from her meeting by now. Stephanie asks if everything is alright. Chad says with the kids out, he thought it’d be a good time for them to talk. Stephanie calls it a coincidence as she was thinking the same thing. Stephanie then throws her glass of wine in Chad’s face and tells him to sit down if he wants to talk because she’s going first.

John looks at a photo of Brady and Rachel, hoping that Brady will come to his senses before it’s too late.

EJ asks Kristen about Brady being there any minute. Kristen states that he’s late. EJ guesses he must have hit traffic getting across town. Kristen says maybe and checks outside. Kristen then worries that maybe EJ decided he couldn’t live with the judge’s decision. EJ questions if Brady would just take Rachel and run. Kristen admits it’s something she would do. Kristen then calls Belle and says she needs to her to call the judge and every police jurisdiction before it’s too late. Belle tells her to slow down as she has no idea what she’s talking about. Kristen shouts that Brady has decided to go on the run with her daughter and she will not stand for it. Brady then arrives with Rachel, exciting Kristen as Rachel runs up and hugs her.

Summer: Sorry, I needed to go for a walk and clear my head.

Daniel: Just when you think there’s nowhere to go but up when it comes to mom, things spiral again. This is insane.

Summer: So, I– I went over there and I tried to convince her to not take the plea deal and then we just ended up arguing about other things. I mean, there is no getting through to her. She is still stubborn to the point of obsession. She can’t even listen to somebody else’s perspective.

Daniel: I think at this point, it’s better that she serves time in prison rather than you.

Summer: As horrible as I feel saying it, I think you’re right.

*************************

Heather: I need to speak with my client in private. I apologize for wasting your time, christine. We will be in touch with you–

Phyllis: I’m taking the deal. I’ll plead guilty to avoid a trial. I need to protect my daughter at all costs.

Audra:  Tucker, that was years ago. And– and didn’t you wipe the system when you sold the company?

Tucker: Of course I did, Audra. But apparently the junk mail remained on one of the servers and guess who has found it. Adam freakin’ Newman.

Audra: How?

Tucker: How do you think? He is in charge of the company now, is he not? He has access to everything, does he not?

Audra: I know that, okay? What does this all mean, exactly?

Tucker: Well, he needed some leverage over me, so he went digging until he found it

**************************

Tucker: Let me see if I can explain it to you. Adam runs a media company under the Newman umbrella. You run a media company under the Newman umbrella.

Audra: I know.

Tucker: Yes! And do you think Adam is going to be content to peacefully co-exist?

Audra: Victor said that he doesn’t wanna merge Newman Media with Adustus.

Tucker: Oh, did Victor say so? Oh! Hallelujah, ’cause Adam always does his father’s bidding to the letter.

Adam: That’s a nice suit. Heard through the grapevine that, uh, it’s a pretty big day for you at Newman. Steering the ship while the boss is out of town.

Nate: Just grateful for the opportunity.

Adam: Hm. I am sure that you are. You have certainly been busy continuing to maneuver your way into the inner circle. Good luck.

Nate: You know, I found out from Victoria you’re interested in absorbing newman media into your new company.

[ Adam clearing throat]

Adam: Well, yeah, it’s, uh, a logical move now that we’re all under the newman enterprise umbrella. Newman media’s a standalone, kind of seems redundant with what I’m planning to accomplish.

Nate: Newman media is a powerhouse of the two. Mccall’s company needs a ton of work to be fit enough face off against us.

Adam: Well, I wouldn’t be so sure about that.

Nate: Oh, I’m more than sure. What you’re planning would never happen. The parts of your body that collagen supports:

*************************************

Sally: Nick suspects the same thing. It’s ironic more often than not. You two are on the same page when deciphering your father’s actions and words.

Adam: It’s maddening, isn’t it?

Nick: What’s going on?

Adam: Uh, I’m just here early for our meeting with sharon. She’s on her way, so she should be here soon.

Sally: Well, I will leave you two to get to work. But before I go, I think you both should know that I have made a decision.

Nick: What’s that?

Sally: I am going to give victor the benefit of the doubt. Pending a conversation with chloe, I am going to consider taking victor up on his offer.
