Traci: Well, hello, you two.

Jack: Well, you’re looking exceptionally happy this morning.

Traci: And you’re looking exceptionally happy, as well.

Diane: Traci, I-I didn’t know you were home.

Traci: Surprise.

***************†*************************

Traci: Who wants a cup of coffee?

Diane: Oh, no, thank you.

Jack: I’ll have a cup.

Traci: Okay. Actually, I probably don’t need any more caffeine this morning. I have been down here for hours, and I notice the two of you seem to be getting quite a late start.

Diane: Oh, well, we were just upstairs checking on Harrison, but I guess the nanny already has him out. You know, it is a lovely, brisk day for the park.

Traci: Oh, really? How would you know? You haven’t been outside yet.

Diane: Well, I-I do have the weather on my phone.

Jack: We have nothing to hide. For the record, Diane is going to be spending a lot more time around here.

Update written by Joseph

Alex sits alone in the town square, drinking a beer. He looks through pictures of he and Stephanie on his phone, then decides to call her.

Stephanie pours a glass of wine at home when she gets Alex’s call, but chooses to ignore it.

Eric drinks at the Brady Pub while in tears, wondering what he’s going to do without Marlena as he finishes his 5th shot.

Johnny finds Chanel sitting in the park and joins her on the bench. Johnny starts to ask her a question but he gets a breaking news report on his phone about Marlena, which he says makes it pretty real. Chanel says she will fall apart when she loses her grandma, while noting that Johnny lost Marlena, Kate, and Kayla plus Susan. Chanel holds his hand to comfort him while Johnny wonders when does it end. Chanel brings up that Johnny was going to ask her something. Johnny says she never told him what happened with her and Allie after he left. Chanel points out that he found her sitting here alone, so that should tell him everything he needs to know.

Abe goes to the hospital and runs in to Allie. Abe hugs her and says he’s so sorry for her loss. Allie says she’s sorry for his too as Marlena meant so much to so many people. Allie calls this day the worst. Abe asks if she wants to sit and talk but Allie doesn’t think anything she would say would make sense, so she’s going to take a walk and clear her head. Abe tells her to do what she needs to do. Abe asks if John is still at the hospital. Allie informs him that he is on the roof which is where Marlena died, so she thinks he could really use an old friend right now which Abe agrees with.

Marlena sees the white light and her spirit leaves her body.

John returns to the hospital rooftop and says he knows Marlena will be in Heaven, looking out for all of them.

Marlena enters the gates of Heaven which then shut behind her. Marlena wonders aloud where she is as she looks around.

Alex leaves a message for Stephanie, saying he knows he has no right to be asking anything of her but he asks her to try giving him a chance to make this up to her. Alex says they had something great going and he doesn’t want to give up on that as he then hangs up.

Stephanie gets the news alert on her phone that Marlena has died and then sees a voicemail from Alex, but Paulina shows up at her door. Paulina doesn’t know how many terrible things could happen to one family in a short time, so she wanted to tell her in person how sorry she is and she brought her dinner. Stephanie thanks her. Paulina feels it’s the least she could do since Stephanie had been there for her when she needed help. Paulina adds that it’s not the only reason she came and declares that she needs Stephanie’s connections now more than ever.

Eric goes to Sloan’s apartment. Sloan remarks that at least he didn’t bring the kid with him this time. Eric responds that Rachel’s situation seems to be the only thing in his family that is under control right now. Sloan asks what that means. Eric then reveals that his mother died today.

Marlena says she doesn’t understand what is happening as the last thing she remembers is being on the roof with John. Marlena starts calling out for John, asking if he is there, but she is instead greeted by Susan Banks, who says John isn’t there but not to worry because she is.

Stephanie asks Paulina if this is a political problem because she can’t change her mind now that the new Governor has been sworn in. Paulina assures that she hasn’t changed her mind as she is staying in Salem, but she’s at war and for Chanel’s sake, she cannot lose.

Chanel tells Johnny that she told Allie that she only went to the hospital to check on her. Johnny guesses that didn’t make much of a difference. Chanel says that Allie can’t get over walking in on them. Johnny argues that his grandmother was about to die and that’s why she had her arms around him. Chanel admits it was a little more than that. Johnny says to let Allie be mad at him for it but Chanel acknowledges that it was both of them. Johnny argues that Chanel tried to comfort him and he tried to turn that into a kiss.

Alex gets up from his table in the town square and sees Allie walking through. Alex tells her that he just heard about Marlena and he’s so sorry. Alex adds that if she’s looking for Chanel, she’s not there. Allie responds that it doesn’t matter which Alex questions. Alex argues that Allie can’t be alone right now and she doesn’t look okay. Allie admits she’s the farthest thing from okay right now. Alex decides to take her home.

Abe joins John on the rooftop of the hospital. John asks how he found him. Abe mentions running in to Allie at the nurse’s station. John explains that they were just sitting and looking at family photos. Abe realizes that’s what the projector was for. John tells him that Marlena wanted him to take her home, so he thought this was a compromise to try to make her happy. Abe encourages that he did. John knows Marlena is up there now, looking down on him and wanting him to be strong. John declares that he is never getting past this.

Marlena is excited to see Susan, thinking this means she is alive and well but Susan clarifies that she is not so much alive.

Sloan tells Eric that she’s so sorry as she knows what it feels like to lose a mother. Eric argues that this didn’t have to happen. Sloan asks if the doctors or the hospital screwed up her care. Eric says no and assures they did everything they could. Eric says it was a virus and it was too strong while they couldn’t find the cure to fix it. Sloan asks if Eric came over to tell her that Marlena died instead of being with his family right now. Eric responds that with family is the last place he wants to be right now. Sloan asks if he’s sure he doesn’t want to be with someone that he cares about. Eric says he cares about her. Sloan says she meant someone he loves and they both agreed they weren’t doing that. Eric argues that he’s not asking for a shoulder to cry on. Sloan asks what he wants then. Eric responds by kissing her.

Paulina explains to Stephanie that she thought she and Chanel had made short work of Chanel after the London cops decided not to press charges, but now Sloan is suing them both for wrongful death in civil court. Paulina worries that Sloan could take her to the cleaners and Chanel could lose the Bakery. Stephanie doesn’t see how she can help. Paulina wants someone on the inside to know Sloan’s strategy. Stephanie asks if she wants her to be that person. Paulina reveals she was actually thinking of her boyfriend, Alex, pointing out that he saved them once by stealing the file from Sloan. Paulina says they need him again. Stephanie says she’d like to help but responds that she can’t do that. Paulina questions what the problem is but Stephanie informs her that she and Alex split up.

Alex brings Allie home to her apartment and offers to stick around if she doesn’t want to be alone. Allie doesn’t know what she wants or where she was going. Alex questions why Chanel isn’t home if the Bakery is closed. Allie responds that she doesn’t know where Chanel is and she may be with Johnny, which Alex questions. Allie asks if he wants a beer and says that sounds really good right now. Alex cannot believe Marlena is really gone and says she was like an institution, always helping people. Allie says she sure helped her. Allie says Marlena was so strong that she really thought she would make it through this. Alex suggests Allie slow down on the beer because she doesn’t need a hangover. Allie responds that what she needs is her grandmother. Alex says he’s going to call Chanel but Allie asks him not to do that. Alex questions if there is something going on with them. Allie states that it’s what’s going on with Chanel and Johnny that scares her.

Johnny tells Chanel that he’s going to go find Allie to talk some sense in to her. Chanel stops him and says talking to Allie is her job. Johnny suggests letting Allie vent to him and then she’ll be calmed down by the time Chanel gets home. Chanel feels they are both grieving over Marlena and too raw, so it will only make things worse. Chanel declares that it has to be her. Johnny guesses it’s her call. Chanel wants to give Allie a little more time, so she and Johnny sit back down on the park bench. Johnny asks if she thought about what he said about wanting to kiss her.

Marlena questions if Susan is saying she’s really dead. Susan reminds her of the explosion and says she got her body back as soon as she showed up here. Marlena asks if this means she is dead too. Susan says she’s afraid so and explains that without the orchid, they couldn’t do a thing to bring her back to life along with Kate and Kayla. Marlena asks where Kate and Kayla are.

Eric asks Sloan if he’s pushing her in to something she doesn’t want. Sloan says she must be losing her touch if he thinks that’s possible as they continue kissing.

Johnny states that Chanel was trying to be there for him and he tried to come onto her. Chanel responds that she didn’t take him seriously since he had just finished telling her about how great Wendy is. Johnny thinks he just screwed that up too since he ran in to Wendy and she was with Tripp. Johnny says he picked a fight with Tripp. Chanel asks how bad it was. Johnny says Tripp tried to punch him, but he decked him. Chanel asks what it was about. Johnny says it was Tripp’s lunatic mother, Ava Vitali, who caused the explosion that killed his other grandmother, Susan. Johnny adds that Wendy was not impressed with his behavior and he doesn’t blame her. Chanel understands he’s mad at the world right now. Johnny says that Chanel is being great about it. Johnny apologizes for making a pass at her and promises he won’t do it again.

Allie informs Alex that she got off the elevator and saw Chanel and Johnny about to kiss. Alex points out that they were about to, so they didn’t actually kiss. Allie says that’s only because she showed up and if she was ten seconds later, he would’ve been all over her. Alex asks what she did. Allie says she didn’t have time to do anything because Sarah showed up and told her about Marlena. Alex suggests that Chanel could’ve been just trying to comfort Johnny but Allie argues that Chanel and Johnny are crazy about each other. Allie brings up that they were married and probably still would be if Johnny didn’t get possessed by The Devil. Allie points out that’s the only reason that she and Chanel even got together, and Chanel took forever to choose between them. Alex encourages that Chanel did choose Allie and is sticking with her. Allie questions why he’s taking their side. Alex assures that he’s on her side. Alex says what she saw today could be right or she could be wrong. Alex suggests Allie should just try trusting them and notes that he’s talking from experience. Allie asks if he’s having problems with Stephanie. Alex responds that Stephanie is having major problems with him, but it’s his own damn fault.

Paulina asks Stephanie about her and Alex being on the outs. Stephanie assures that it’s over. Paulina asks if he cheated on her. Stephanie wishes it was that as she’s dealt with that before, but says this is worse. Paulina questions what could be worse than a man who cheats. Stephanie explains that her mother died and because of Alex, she wasn’t there. Paulina says she will have to tell her more. Stephanie informs her that Chad found out about Kayla and tried to call her to let her know, but she was out of the room and Alex was near her phone and saw Chad was calling, so he turned off her phone without telling her. Stephanie calls it the worst thing anyone has ever done to her. Stephanie says she was starting to think she and Alex had a future, but that’s over now and he’s dead to her.

John asks Abe if Orpheus is enjoying his triumph now. Abe calls him a monster. John says it should’ve been him, but Orpheus went after the women they love. Abe says he knew it would hurt more. John complains that the Devil himself went after Marlena twice and she survived that, but Orpheus got her. Abe encourages that Marlena was so strong to the end. Abe says the incredible love they had for each other is not gone and will last forever. John knows he’s right but cries that they beat all the odds together, so he questions how to leave without her. John asks Abe how he went home to an empty bed when Lexie died as Abe hugs him.

Marlena wants to know where Kate and Kayla are. Susan laughs off the idea of Kate making it to Heaven after she broke all the ten commandments. Marlena argues that Kate was a great friend to her and underneath it all, was a good person. Susan remarks that Kate was not like Marlena and Kayla. Marlena asks where Kayla is then.

Sloan and Eric lay in bed together after having sex. Sloan asks if that helped or made him feel more alone. Sloan apologizes if he felt like she was pushing him away as she just got tense when he spoke about his mother because it brings up a lot of memories of her own mom. Eric apologizes if he made her feel like he was using her. Sloan understands that he needed her and she’s not really used to people needing her. Eric suggests talking to her could help him understand how to get through it. Sloan doesn’t think he seems like the vengeful time. Sloan talks about hitting a bump in her road with the courts in London, but she’s not giving up. Sloan declares that Chanel and Paulina will not get away with what they took from her as there are other ways to make them pay.

Chanel decides that she’s given Allie enough time, so she better go see how she’s doing. Johnny encourages that Allie loves her and will come around. Chanel hugs him and thanks him for trying to make her feel better. Johnny points out that Allie could come walking through any minute and see them. Chanel responds that she will risk it because Johnny is a special person and she’s so sorry that he’s hurting.

Alex tells Allie about turning off Stephanie’s phone so she wasn’t able to be there when Kayla died. Alex tells her to go ahead and call him a selfish idiot who is getting exactly what he deserves. Allie thinks that might be overdramatic. Allie understands that if it was Steve or anyone else in the family calling, he wouldn’t have turned off the phone while he thought Chad was butting in again. Allie states that Alex misjudged the situation and messed up but if she were Stephanie, she’d be pissed but they would work through it because he would never deliberately keep Stephanie from being at her mother’s bedside. Allie declares that Alex made a stupid mistake but that he should be forgiven.

Paulina can’t believe Stephanie didn’t know her mom was dying and assures that she’s not overreacting. Paulina argues that Stephanie’s phone is none of Alex’s business and he kept her from seeing her mother for the last time. Stephanie thanks her for the backup as she sometimes thinks maybe she was too angry. Paulina encourages that she doesn’t need a man sneaking around, trying to arrange her life how he wants, when she has so much to offer. Stephanie thanks her but says she still can’t get Alex to help with Sloan, so she hopes Paulina can find another way to get Sloan out of her life. Paulina says she’s not letting Stephanie off the hook that easy since she’s helped her before. Paulina suggests bringing Chad on board since he’s smart and not bad to look at either. Paulina adds that Alex would probably think she’s doing it to get to him. Stephanie responds that she could care less what Alex thinks.

Susan tries to avoid Marlena’s question but she insists on trying to find Kayla. Susan looks through the list but doesn’t find Kayla’s name. Susan checks under Brady and notes that Bo’s name is there with an asterisk next to it and doesn’t know what that means. Susan reveals that she doesn’t see Kayla’s name at all…

Stephanie tells Paulina that she will start thinking about how to spin this and will give her a call. Paulina encourages her to take time to grieve but to get ready for war too. Paulina says Sloan made her daughter a target. Stephanie relates that Kayla would’ve done the same for any of them. Paulina encourages that they will have wine one night where Stephanie can tell her all about Kayla. Paulina tells Stephanie not to focus on not saying goodbye because she’ll never escape the pain. Paulina assures that they were past words and that Kayla knew how much Stephanie loved her. Paulina urges her to think about the good times and that Kayla will never be far away. They hug and then Paulina exits as Stephanie holds back tears.

Alex tells Allie that she actually managed to give him some hope that maybe Stephanie will come around. Alex calls her the only one so far to have his back. Chanel then comes home and asks what Alex is doing there. Allie says after Alex heard about Marlena, he was nice enough to offer her a shoulder to cry on like Chanel did for Johnny.

Abe encourages John that he has his children and grandchildren that need him and that’s what will make him go on. John tells him to just keep reminding him of that. Abe invites John to come stay with he and Paulina tonight but John says that will just postpone the inevitable. John feels he needs to be home where he can feel Marlena’s presence. John knows it will be hard but insists that’s what he needs right now.

Marlena doesn’t know why Kayla is not on the list. Susan suggests her paperwork hasn’t come through yet and talks about how long she had to wait to talk to Elvis. Susan insists that Kayla is around somewhere. Susan tells Marlena that she is here to help her make the transition to the other side.

Eric tells Sloan that one of the things he learned as a priest is that the hunger for revenge is not a natural instinct, but more of an obsession. Sloan asks if anything makes it go away. Eric responds that he has one idea and kisses her.

Stephanie starts working on strategies to help Paulina. She then plays Alex’s voicemail from earlier while looking upset.

Alex decides he will take off now that Chanel is back but Allie stops him and suggests they could have another threesome since she feels life is getting boring for Chanel. Chanel argues that’s not true and tells her not to put Alex in the middle of this. Allie says it’s been a long and awful day for her, so she’s going to try to get some sleep in her son Henry’s room.

Abe joins Paulina in the town square. Paulina asks how John is doing. Abe responds that he’s going to be a in a bad place for a long time because Marlena was his life.

Marlena asks about the transition. Susan explains that it’s hard for folks to accept they are really gone and to let go of their loved ones. Susan talks about having to accept that she would never see EJ again, so she knows it won’t be easy for Marlena to let go of John.

John remains on the rooftop. He picks up the remote and turns off the slideshow of photos of he and Marlena.

Marlena tells Susan that John kept telling her that she was going to pull through, so he must be in so much pain. Susan assures that he is crushed but he has the rest of his family and friends. Marlena starts to cry about her children. Susan tells Marlena that she’s been through enough for one day and needs to rest. Marlena says she can’t rest with so many questions. Susan directs Marlena through another set of doors to go rest. Afterwards, Susan removes her glasses and is revealed to be possessed by The Devil, who then begins laughing.

Nate: And there you have it, the newman media grand tour.

Audra: Quite an impressive operation you have going on here.

Nate: And being coo is a big responsibility, as you’re about to find out.

Audra: Great, ’cause I’m ready to hit the ground running.

Nate: Good. We have several new programs in the pipeline that I’ll expect you to spearhead. I’ll need you to give input on the creative and fine tune some of the overall concepts. And I want to make this one thing very clear. Never hold back your thoughts. I encourage you to speak up and share your suggestions with me.

Audra: I’m glad to hear that because I am brimming with ideas.

Nate: What you said in your interview for the job really hit home. I’m determined not to treat you or any of my employees the way devon treated me. Yes, yes, I am the boss, but I want an environment of open collaboration.

Audra: What a coincidence, because that’s the kind of environment I excel in.

Nate: Great. Welcome to newman media.

Nikki: And, amazingly, the only thing stolen was a diamond necklace that your father gave me.

Victoria: A burglary at the family apartment in chicago? I mean, what? Well, thank goodness you and dad weren’t there when it happened. Do the police know who did it yet?

Nikki: Oh, they arrested somebody, but I’m convinced they have the wrong person.

Victoria: Well, how could you possibly know that?

Nikki: Because I think the real culprit is diane jenkins.

[ Both sigh ]

Diane: Are you as happy as i am right now?

Jack: How could I not be? Everything feels so right.

Diane: Yeah. It’s like everything that’s happened has just led us to this moment.

Jack: Quite a journey getting here, huh?

Diane: Yeah.

Jack: Now that we’re here, any regrets?

Diane: Well, yes.

Jack: Yes? You do have regrets?

Diane: I regret that what i did so long ago made it so hard for you to forgive me. And I — I regret that I wasn’t totally honest with you when I first came back. But the truth is, I, uh…

[ Sighs ] I hid so much of what I had done out of shame. Mm. But you know everything now. You know all my secrets. Somehow you’re still here. It’s — it’s an amazing gift, and I promise you, I will never, never betray you. Hm.

Kyle: Hey, victor’s gone now. Do you have a minute to talk?

Summer: Sure.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] He’s turning up the heat on his plan to oust adam from jabot.

Summer: I hope this time you flat out turned down his request for your help.

Kyle: Actually, I didn’T.

Sally: I just didn’t want to say anything until I was sure.

Nick: Are you sure?

Sally: I’m pregnant. Chloe says I’m in denial. And she’s not wrong. I mean, I’ve been on overload since I found out, and I’ve been feeling crummy on top of it. I just — I had to put everything on pause, which, honestly is exactly where i need to be right now. So can you please just be in denial with me, at least for now? I’m — I’m just not ready to deal with everything that comes next.

Nick: Just don’t stress, okay? We’re going to figure this out. It’s going to be fine.

Victor: Well, how do you do? You seem deep in thought. What’s going on? Dupixent helps you du more with less asthma.

Audra: From the research I’ve done on newman media’s content, I think we need to expand our library by at least twofold if we want to remain competitive. One of the things we can do relatively quickly is put out a companion podcast on some of our most popular content as audio-only showcasts.

Nate: I think it’s an intriguing concept. I’m impressed with how much thinking you’ve put into this in such a short amount of time.

Audra: I’m determined to make the most of the opportunity you’ve given me, especially since I highly doubt others would hire me given my recent backdoor dealings with tucker. So I intend to keep on impressing you right out of the gate.

Nate: Glad to hear. Clearly, we’re going to make a great team.

Elena: A team? I thought you gave up on trying to take over your family’s business. So why are you and chancellor-winters’ ipo consultant now a team?

Victoria: What makes you so suspicious of diane if the police believe otherwise?

Nikki: There is something off about this scenario. The police arrested jeremy stark, the same man who came to genoa city to specifically target diane.

Victoria: That is an odd coincidence.

Nikki: And then why would he suddenly decide to go all the way to chicago, break into our apartment, and steal one necklace from me? Nothing else was taken.

Victoria: You’re right. The whole thing is strange.

Nikki: I mean, how does he even know we have an apartment in chicago?

Victoria: You know, that raises another question. How did diane know that you kept your jewels there?

Nikki: Well, that’s another thing that makes this even more infuriating. There is no way she would’ve been able to pull this off without jack’s help.

[ Keyboard clacking ]

Traci: Well, hello, you two.

Jack: Well, you’re looking exceptionally happy this morning.

Traci: And you’re looking exceptionally happy, as well.

Diane: Traci, I-I didn’t know you were home.

Traci: Surprise.

[ Laughs ]

Summer: I can’t believe you’re letting my grandpa pull you into his machinations.

Kyle: No one is pulling me into anything.

Summer: We agreed to stay out of our mothers’ feud, and we should have the same policy for anything newman-related.

Kyle: I haven’t decided if I’m in or out yet.

Summer: I can’t believe that you’re even still considering it. I thought that once stark was busted, we would be done with all of the deceptions. But this morning, I had to hide the truth from my grandma about her stolen necklace. And then I had to lie to adam to cover for you. Which, by the way, he definitely didn’t buy that story that grandpa was here to help you for a valentine’s day surprise.

Kyle: I’m not surprised. He’s got a suspicious nature.

Summer: Can’t we just say enough already with all the lies and schemes and criminal activity?

Kyle: Victor hasn’t pitched anything criminal.

Summer: Not yet.

Victor: [ Sighs ] So… why don’t you talk to me?

Nick: There’s nothing to talk about.

Victor: Does this mood you’re in have anything to do with sally spectra?

Nick: [ Chuckles ] Why would you say that?

Victor: My suspicions. I’m not going to give you any advice regarding that relationship, but I’m going to warn you.

Nick: Dad, whatever it is, I just — I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to hear any attacks on sally. I don’t want to hear any stories about her past.

Victor: It’s not about the past. About the future. Something is about to happen with your brother, adam, that could complicate issues for you if you stay in a relationship with that woman.

Nick: Alright, let’s hear it. Or scheming now? I could’ve waited to tell my doctor my heart

Nate: No, elena, you got it all wrong. I’m not trying to stake a claim in chancellor-winters again. And audra here no longer works for them.

Audra: That’s true. I work for nate now.

Elena: Wait, what?

Nate: I hadn’t had a chance to tell you yet. The whole thing came together rather quickly.

Elena: Oh. I’m sorry I jumped to the wrong conclusion.

Audra: No worries. I can see how you could easily misconstrue the situation.

Nate: Agreed. No apology necessary. But I am surprised to see you here. Is everything okay?

Elena: Yeah. I just stopped by to see if you were available for an early lunch.

Nate: Ah, I would love to, but andre and I just ordered takeout, and we were planning a working lunch here.

Audra: Nate, it’s fine. I have some research and reading I got to catch up on. Our salads will stay fresh in the break-room refrigerator.

Nate: Are you sure? It’s your first day, and i thought we can go over more details —

Audra: I won’t hear of it, nate, okay? We can pick up on this later. You should never turn down a meal with your partner.

Nate: I guess we’re going to lunch, then.

Victor: No scheme, son. I just have a sense that adam’s days at jabot are numbered.

Nick: You sense that? How exactly does that work?

Victor: Trust me. And when that happens and he leaves jabot, he has no one to turn to but his family. That’s where he belongs.

Nick: You really think adam is going to come back to work at newman?

Victor: Sooner than any of us realize. When that happens —

Nick: If it happens.

Victor: When that happens, son, I want you and adam to find common ground. I want you to get along. You understand? And this sally spectra woman is going to make that very difficult.

Nick: Can you just leave her alone, alright? She’s going through enough right now.

Victor: What does that mean?

Victoria: Oh, mom, I find it awfully hard to believe that jack would help diane rob you. I mean, why would he even consider doing something like that?

Nikki: It makes sense if you think of it as a carefully devised plan to get rid of stark. Now, what if they were trying to frame him? In which case jack and diane were using me in their little plot, too.

Victoria: Well, I can see that you’re upset, but did you think about asking jack about it?

Nikki: Yeah. He claimed that stark was trying to frame diane.

Victoria: And you’re not buying it?

Nikki: [ Scoffs ] They were acting so weird. It was clear something was up.

Victoria: Diane must have jack completely wrapped around her little finger. I mean, what more can we do but accept it?

Nikki: Oh, no, no. There’s a lot we can do.

Victoria: Mom, I know that you detest diane, but, I mean, maybe it’s time to just accept the fact that she is back in town for good.

Nikki: I will never do that.

Victoria: Do you remember when you were worried about stark being back in genoa city? Can you not just be happy that he’s behind bars again?

Nikki: No. I will only be happy when diane is in a cell of her own.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Mom, I hate seeing you so twisted up like this. You have to find a way to let it go.

Traci: So, can I pour anybody a cup of coffee?

Sharon: What can I get you?

Audra: Oh. You’re so polite. Even though I’m sure I’m the last person you want to see.

Sharon: Your history with noah is between the two of you. And, besides, he seems to have made peace with it.

Audra: You figure since I’m only in town temporarily, why not keep things cordial?

Sharon: I aim to make all of my customers feel welcome.

Audra: Would that change if I told you I was moving here permanently?

Elena: [ Sighs ] I really am sorry that I showed up to your job and immediately assumed the worst.

Nate: It’s okay. It’s a perfectly logical mistake. I can see how you could’ve gotten there.

Elena: Well, thank you for understanding. So how did all this come about? Why isn’t audra working on the ipo anymore?

Nate: Well, she and chancellor-winters parted ways. It made sense to bring someone with her experience on board. She even won over victoria, who is no easy sell.

Elena: I suppose so.

Nate: Audra showed up on her first day ready with a boatload of ideas. I am telling you, she’s already shining like a star.

Elena: Well, audra isn’t the only one who shined today.

Victor: So, uh…

[ Clears throat ] What exactly has you worried about sally spectra?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Look, she’s starting a new business, okay?

Victor: Okay.

Nick: And that is a necessity due to her unceremonious firing from newman media. And she doesn’t need any distractions from you. In fact, she and chloe are meeting with jill to see if they can put together a partnership with chancellor-winters. And just so you know, sally and I are getting a lot closer. So can you just get off her case, dad? She’s not hurting anyone.

Victor: Not just yet.

Nick: I’m serious. Leave her alone. I really hope you’re not trying to manipulate some scenario where you force adam’s hand. I know you’re trying to bring the family closer together, but, honestly, it’s going to have the opposite effect. But maybe that’s the only thing you know.

Kyle: I understand why you would have some reservations about me working with victor, but I am asking you to hear me out. You do not get to make the decisions for me.

Summer: I’m not trying to. But, kyle, this is my family. We both know how ugly things can get when grandpa and adam are at war.

Kyle: I do. But this time, I honestly believe victor has the best of intentions. Yeah, he wants adam to fail, but only so we can bring him back into the family fold.

Summer: You know I love my grandpa, but this is no way to heal a rift with your son. Why humiliate adam again? He’s had enough of that already.

Kyle: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I agree. It’s a little extreme. But look at it from jabot’s perspective. Adam is trouble. My dad never should’ve brought him on. So far, the guy’s work is hit or miss. He’s clearly not engaged or all that passionate about being here, and part of me wonders if he only took the job in the first place to get back at victor.

Summer: That wouldn’t surprise me.

Kyle: I want him gone before he can cause damage to our company. How can you possibly disagree with me?

Summer: Look, I-I’ll admit there’s no real place for adam at jabot. I just don’t think it means that you need to be taking such big risks.

Kyle: Don’t worry about that. I’ve taken care of all the risks.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Nikki: I’m tired about talking about diane. Let’s talk about a happier subject. How are katie and johnny?

Victoria: Oh. Well. Oh, you should see katie in her ballet class. She looks so cute in her little tights and her tutu. She’s just thriving. You know, she is so talented. I hope you can make her recital.

Nikki: Of course. I wouldn’t miss it.

Victoria: Good. But, uh, last night, thanks to johnny and billy, I, um — I had to endure pizza night at chelsea’S.

Nikki: Oh. How did that go?

Victoria: I don’t know. I mean, billy seems pretty at home there, and I’m pleased that johnny and connor are getting along, of course. But I just have this strange feeling in the pit of my stomach that this new family dynamic is not going to end well.

Nikki: I’m sorry you have to deal with all that.

[ Door opens ]

Nick: Hey, mom, vick.

Nikki: Hey.

Victoria: Hi. How are you doing?

Nick: I’m good.

Nikki: Well, I would love to chat, but I have a meeting. Thank you, darling. Talk to you later. [ Smooches ]

Nick: Love you, mom.

Nikki: Bye-bye.

[ Door closes ]

Victoria: I think that mom was too preoccupied to notice that your answer was not convincing. Clearly, you’re conflicted about something.

Nick: Why does everyone keep saying that to me?

Victoria: Because it must be true. What’s going on?

Nate: I’m getting the feeling that this isn’t just your everyday lunch invitation. You have something to share, don’t you?

Elena: You remember that patient I was telling you about?

Nate: You mean the one nobody expected to make it?

Elena: Yep, that’s the one. Really sweet man. Not to toot my own horn, but I performed his surgery this morning, and he made it through with flying colors.

Nate: What? Congratulations, elena. You saved that man’s life. I am so proud of you. I bet the rest of the staff was wowed, as well.

Elena: Yeah, yeah. I received some really high praises. But, um… I think the thing that meant the most to me was seeing the look on his family’s face when I told them that he was going to make it.

Nate: I remember that feeling. It’s like being on top of the world. I am so thrilled for you.

[ Chuckles ] And this calls for a celebration, okay? Not just this lunch. So I am going to put something together for us tonight. Something special. Champagne. The works.

Elena: Okay. I’m looking forward to it.

Summer: How could you have possibly taken care of all the risks? I thought you hadn’t agreed to my grandpa’s little plot yet.

Kyle: I haven’T. I just laid down some ground rules in case I do decide to work with him. I told him that, if I were to come on board, there’d be certain conditions that would have to be met.

Summer: Which are?

Kyle: “A,” my involvement would have to be minimal, “b,” whatever move victor makes can only affect adam, not jabot, and “c,” dad can never find out I had any involvement.

Summer: Okay, none of those caveats are even remotely reassuring to me. Just the fact that you need to take so many precautions should tell you everything you need to know.

Kyle: I have confidence victor will keep his word.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] Can’t you see how this can blow up in your face? Sure, my grandpa might honor your requests, but if adam figures out that he’s been set up, jack is the first person that he’s going to tell.

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

Diane: Jack, we don’t need to go on boring traci about us. I’m sure you have better things to do.

Traci: Nope. In fact, I find the whole thing absolutely fascinating. I would love to hear all about it. That is, unless the two of you do want to talk about it.

Jack: Oh, I’m more than happy to talk about it. Have a seat. Diane and I are now romantically involved. It has been a very natural and very welcome progression, and I don’t intend to keep it a secret. I think our family has had quite enough of those lately.

Traci: Well, congratulations.

Jack: Thank you.

Traci: [ Chuckles ] And there’s another big change that I’ve noticed around here this morning. The security detail seems to be missing. So am I to assume that means we’re not going to have to worry about that dangerous secret called stark?

Jack: You would be correct about that. We are safely out of his life, and he’s out of ours. So I like the way things have landed. Our troubles are few.

Traci: There that is, that sparkle in your eye that I’ve been missing so much.

Diane: Ah, you see a sparkle?

Traci: I do see a sparkle, and I’d see it on my brother from a mile away. Ah, please forgive me if, um, I teased you and made you feel uncomfortable.

Jack: No, you should feel good about this. That level of ribbing from traci is usually reserved for close family.

Traci: [ Chuckles ] Seriously, both of you, I wish you all the best, and I hope that your announcement is met with the proper amount of support that it deserves. Actually, I think it’s probably a really good thing that ashley is out of the country right now because you should consider having someone tell our sister so that she can blow up on the streets of paris and get it all out of her system before she comes back home again.

Jack: I will definitely take that under advisement.

Traci: [ Chuckles ] Good. Now I have a scheduled phone meeting with my editor, so you two will have to excuse me, but I’m sure that I will see you both later.

Jack: Traci.

Traci: Mm-hmm?

Jack: Thank you.

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Jack: W-what? Wait, what’s wrong?

Diane: You know, we didn’t talk about telling people about us. I’m not so sure it’s a good idea.

Sharon: So, you’ve decided to stay in genoa city?

Audra: There’s no need to worry. It’s a good thing.

Sharon: Really?

Audra: Yeah, I just got a new position. As of today, I’m working for noah’s dad’s company. I never would’ve imagined this back in london. But it’s small world, hm?

Sharon: You’re working for newman? In what capacity?

Audra: Nate hastings hired me to work at newman media as his coo.

Sharon: Oh. Wow, that’s a pretty big leap from a temporary position at chancellor-winters.

Audra: It is. But I managed to impress the hell out of victoria when I interviewed. Although I just started, so far, so good.

Sharon: Then congratulations are in order, I guess.

Audra: Thank you. And for the record, noah has nothing to worry about. I’m very happy with the new direction my life is taking and all the new people I’m meeting. Believe me, the last thing I want to do is move backward.

Sharon: I’m sure that noah will appreciate you giving him a lot of space.

Audra: Well, I got to get back to the office and make the newmans even richer, if that’s possible. Take care.

Jack: Hey, hey, why are you saying that? Why are you hesitant about going public about us?

Diane: I’m just not sure it’s the right thing to do.

Jack: Is this about ashley?

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Jack: That’s not a problem because she doesn’t have a vote.

Diane: Yes, and things couldn’t be any worse with ashley than they already are.

Jack: So this is about kyle?

Diane: Yes. He warned me a while ago not to flirt with you, and I think we can safely say that more than flirting has gone on.

Jack: Yeah, I would agree. When people see how happy we are, they will be happy for us.

Diane: I wish I could be as optimistic as you are about how everyone will react to the two of us getting back together.

Jack: Trust me, we will win everyone over that matters. The rest don’t count. We can be very persuasive, you and I.

Diane: You know, jack, I’m not worried about me. You know that I can handle whatever the world dishes out, and, well — and besides, practically everyone despises me already anyway. No, but you are loved and respected in this town. You’re the one with the most at stake.

Summer: I just hate the idea of you risking unnecessary conflict with your dad over adam, of all people. I mean, can you just imagine how jack would react if he found out that you were conspiring with my grandpa behind his back?

Kyle: I honestly believe I am protecting my dad — from adam and all the potential trouble he could cause him and jabot down the line.

Summer: Are you trying to prove something to jack after he left you out of the scheme to take down stark?

Kyle: No, of course not. This is about protecting jabot.

Summer: You know adam. Why don’t you just let him fail all on his own, as he inevitably will?

Kyle: Okay, please, summer. I just need you to understand this will be worth it. There’s more to this that I haven’t told you yet, a payoff beyond just removing adam from the equation.

Nick: I don’t want to get into it, vick.

Victoria: Oh, come on. You should know by now that you can talk to me about anything.

Nick: [ Sighs ] I just had a very disturbing conversation with our father.

Victoria: I’m almost afraid to ask what’s on dad’s agenda. Did you two get into it about sally again?

Nick: Oh, sally is still very much on his agenda, but the main event now seems to be our brother.

Victoria: Why does our father keep hitting his head against a brick wall when it comes to this guy? Adam is never going to be anything but trouble.

Nick: Dad doesn’t see it like that. I have a suspicion that dad has some plan in the works to bring adam home, both to the company and the family. But you and I know that is only going to spell disaster.

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Audra: Nate.

Nate: Audra, come in.

Audra: I am glad I caught you. So I-I hope I didn’t jump the gun, but I was putting out feelers for a showcast idea and ended up setting a meeting.

Nate: With who?

Audra: This really important contact of mine in milwaukee who can help us with the snap of her fingers. But don’t worry. I didn’t make any guarantees or promises. I made sure to emphasize that everything is exploratory at this point. So what do you think?

Nate: I think I’m surprised you were able to move so fast. But I am on board with it and eager to hear how this could play out.

Audra: Okay, good, good. But here’s the thing. She’s only in milwaukee for one night before heading to asia. So tonight would be our best bet to pick her brain and, you know, possibly land her if we decide we want her to work with us. Are you free?

Nate: Sure. I’m in.

Audra: Great. I will go finalize things now.

Nate: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

Elena: Hey, you.

Nate: Hey. Listen, I am so, so sorry, but i have to postpone our plans for tonight.

Elena: Oh, no. What happened?

Nate: Something came up here at work tonight, and I have to deal with it. But, listen, I promise to make it up to you. Rain check?

Elena: Yeah. I understand.

Jack: You’re right. I have a lot at stake. I’m happy.

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: For the first time in I can’t tell you how long, I have such a positive view of the future, and I’ll tell you something else.

Diane: What?

Jack: I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure I stay this happy. You really think I care about my reputation? I don’t care what other people think, certainly not about my personal life. Yes, kyle will have some concerns. He’ll need some time to work through this, maybe. But I intend to make it very clear to anyone and everyone that I want to move forward with this relationship. I hope you feel the same way.

Diane: Wow. That’s a much stronger stance than I expected.

Jack: I thought we were on the same page here. Upstairs, it certainly seemed that way.

Diane: No. Yes, yes. Yes, yes. We — we definitely are. Maybe we should — maybe we should take things slow, though, for kyle’s sake as well as ours, because, jack, I really, really want this time to last as long as possible.

Jack: I agree with that.

Diane: Mm.

[ Sighs ]

Summer: What additional payoff would there be for booting adam out of jabot?

Kyle: Remember those textile factories you were talking about?

Summer: The ones that newman took over when they acquired chelsea by jabot way back?

Kyle: I told victor that, in exchange for my help, I wanted to take back control of them. Victor agreed. Think of the possibilities. The resources from them could make marchetti unstoppable.

Victoria: I can’t imagine why our father would want adam back here. I mean, welcoming him into the family is one thing, but bringing him back to newman?

Nick: I feel the same way.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Everything has been going so well. It’s all falling into place with the leadership team that I’ve hand-picked, and he wants to just come and disrupt all of that again?

Nick: Vick, it doesn’t matter how many times he says you’re in charge. He cannot stay away from this company.

Victoria: Exactly what is he going to do to get his way this time?

Nick: I don’t know. He said he sensed there was going to be some trouble for adam at jabot. That’s all I could get out of him.

Victoria: Do you have any idea what he meant?

Nick: No, but I recognized that look in his eye. Dad’s up to no good, and he’s enjoying every second of it.

Jill: Well, as I live and breathe, victor newman. Please don’t tell me someone died.

Victor: Nice to see you. No one has died. Everyone is alive and well.

Jill: So what did I do to deserve this call?

Victor: Well, I want to talk to you about a business meeting you’re about to have.

Jill: [ Chuckles ] I suppose I shouldn’t really be surprised that you know my private schedule, mm?

Victor: Well, now, the meeting is with sally spectra, and there’s something you need to know.

Nikolas: I need three bedrooms. Actually, let’s make it four. Three’s sounding a little bit cramped. Uh, two-car garage. Uh, one cellar is preferable, but not essential. Tomorrow. Yeah. Yeah. No, this can’t wait. Okay. Alright. Thank you in advance. Bye.

Sonny: What was that about?

Nikolas: That was a realtor. I need to find a house. ASAP.

Sonny: I told you, you can stay here with me.

Nikolas: And I appreciate that, but I just don’t think that it’s going to look very good…in court.

Sonny: Uh, what’d you do now, Spencer?

Nikolas: I didn’t do anything. It’s what I’m going to do.

[ Door opens ]

Laura: Hi!

Nikolas: Mother. Hey. What — what brings you by?

Laura: You invited me.

Nikolas: I did. Ahh. T-thank you for coming. Thanks.

Laura: Oh, my goodness. You are really distracted. Did something just happen?

Nikolas: [ Sighs ]

Ramona: Hey! New girl! That’s my seat!

Esme: I-I’m sorry. I-I didn’t know that this seat was yours.

Ramona: I can’t stand people like you. Think you’re entitled to everything.

Esme: Okay. I said I was sorry. I had no way of knowing that the seat was yours.

Ramona: You don’t want to do that.

Esme: What?!

Ramona: Get the guards involved.

Elizabeth: Mom.  What are you doing here?

Carolyn: I came in for some coffee.

Elizabeth: In Port Charles? I made it clear to Dad that I didn’t want to see either of you.

Carolyn: Yes, you did. I’m in town to consult on a psychiatric patient.

Elizabeth: You’re here for work?

Carolyn: Yes. And…no. I’m also here hoping to try and reunite with my daughter.

Sam: Hi!

Dante: Hey. Uh, what’s going on? Where are the kids?

Sam: Um, they’re at a sleepover with Leo.

Dante: They’re at a sleepover with Leo?

Sam: Yeah. Mm-hmm…

Dante: Ohh. Could that mean that we, uh — we have some alone time?

Sam: Oh, yeah. We’re alone now.

Dante: Mmm. Oh, damn it!

Sam: What?

Dante: Well, I have to work tonight. I have to go see Heather Webber at Spring Ridge.

Sam: I know. The timing is perfect.

Dante: What? Wait. How can the timing be perfect?

Sam: Because… I am coming with you.

Austin: Mason, what have you done?

Mason: Take it easy. I told you, I just offered little Georgie a treat. She turned me down, though. Either she doesn’t like lollipops or she’s been warned against strangers. Thing is, is that I’m not gonna be a stranger if I visit her again. Little kids can be so trusting.

Austin: You wouldn’t dare.

Mason: Then don’t make me.

[ Knock on door ]

Ava: Knock, knock! Am I interrupting?

Austin: No, no, not — not at all. Hey. Can I help you with something?

Ava: Yeah. You told me to come by.

Austin: Oh, the referr– I’m so sorry. Give me one second. That’s — yep.

Ava: Hey.

Mason: How you doin’?

Ava: Do I — do I know you? You — you look so familiar.

Mason: Oh, I’m this guy’s cousin. I — I come to visit every now and then.

Ava: Odd. I’m having the strongest sense of déjà vu right now. Oh, no. I-I remember. You were there when I was attacked.

Josslyn: Cam, what are you doing here?

Cameron: Looks like I’m interrupting. So, is that it, Joss? You’re with Dex now? Is he the reason why we broke up?

Cameron:  I’m out of here.

Josslyn: Cameron. Cameron. Can we not do this in the hall? Please. [ Softly ] Please.

Dex: Look, man, I’m sorry that you —

Cameron:  No, you’re not, man. You are loving this.

Dex: Trust me, I’m not.

Cameron:  You guys are probably laughing your asses off about how clueless you think I am.

Josslyn: Do you really think I’d do that?

Cameron:  I don’t know, Joss. I really didn’t think you were gonna dump me. And I sure as hell didn’t expect opening the door to another man tonight. So I guess I don’t know what you’re capable of, Joss. What am I doing here? Screw you both. Get the hell out of my way!

Dex: Cameron. Wait.

Josslyn: Cameron. Cameron! Wait!

Carolyn: Can we sit? Please? [ Sighs ] So… how are you doing?

Elizabeth: You mean now that I know the truth?

Carolyn: I know it’s a lot to process.

Elizabeth: Finding out that I’m indirectly responsible for someone’s death? Yeah. It is.

Carolyn: You’ve had to confront a lot of trauma. Maybe…talking can help you contextualize your feelings.

Elizabeth: Oh, stop talking like a shrink. You’re not my doctor. And you don’t get to help me pick up the pieces, not when you’re the one who messed with my head.

Carolyn: I know you’re angry. I’m here. Whatever it is you need to say to me —

Elizabeth: Why did you stay with Dad?

Dante: Wait. Y-you want to see Heather?

Sam: Oh. God, no. If I never see that psycho again, it’ll be too soon. I want to talk to Esme Prince.

Dante: Why do you want to talk to Esme?

Sam: Because of Esme’s old nanny, Maggie Fitzgerald. Spencer said that Maggie was the only one that Esme could count on, so I was hoping that maybe hearing her name might jog her memory.

Dante: I’m assuming you want to find out something more specific.

Sam: Well, Esme told Spencer that Maggie had some information about her biological parents. According to Spencer, Maggie wrote something in a letter implying that Esme’s birth father was somewhere maybe in New York State — possibly Port Charles — which means…

Dante: She might have made contact with her father?

Sam: And maybe he’s the overprotective sort? I mean, what if he is behind The Hook attacks?

Dante: Okay, but The Hook being a woman — your theory is maybe he hired this woman to get revenge on Esme’s enemies?

Sam: It is a theory. And since you can’t talk to Esme without a lawyer present…

Dante: Ohh! Look at you!

Sam: Yes.

Dante: You’re pretty good.

Sam: Yeah. I think it’s a gift.

Dante: Mm-hmm.

Sam: So what do you say? We work together on this tonight?

Dante: I say… let’s do it.

Sam: Okay.

Dante: Yeah?

Sam: Yeah.

Dante: Good.

Mason: I’m sorry that you were attacked, but I wasn’t there.

Austin: Ava.

Ava: Hmm?

Austin: Uh, perhaps you would like to elaborate?

Ava: Oh, gladly. Um, I was stabbed — or, more precisely, hooked the night of the Quartermaine charity picnic. And you were most definitely there.

Mason: Blood or no blood… when I call, you answer. And it will be, “yes, sir,” and, “thank you, sir,” when I give you instructions. You got it?

Austin: Loud and clear.

Mason: I was at the picnic. But that’s all.

Austin: Ava… a-are you suggesting that my cousin, Mason, was the one who attacked you?

Ava: Oh, I’m not suggesting that. Not yet.

Sonny: Spencer, sit down and tell me what you’re gonna do before you do something stupid. Is this about Nikolas?

Spencer: It involves my father, yes.

Sonny: Alright. I know you’re angry, but you’re too young to try to get revenge and ruin your life. I promised you that I would take care of you. You got to trust that I can do that.

Spencer: This is something that I need to do on my own.

Sonny: What — what are you planning?

Spencer: I’m gonna make sure that my father doesn’t ruin anyone else’s life.

Nikolas: I just received my settlement agreement for my divorce.

Laura: Oh, I’m sorry.  You know something? Even when you’re expecting it, when it comes time to finally sign those papers, it’s hard.

Nikolas: Yeah, I can hardly believe that it’s happening. What makes it even more difficult is… I’ll be leaving Wyndemere.

Laura: Where are you going? You’re not leaving town again, are you?

Nikolas: No, I’m not, but Ava and I agreed that she gets Spoon Island in the divorce.

Laura: But Wyndemere has been your home ever since you first came to Port Charles. Why would you give that up in a divorce? And why does Ava want it anyway? Just so she can tear it down?

Nikolas: Spite.

Laura: You know, I — I guess that makes sense, but why are you agreeing to it?

Nikolas: Because… she’s entitled to her rage. I was unfaithful. I’m having a baby with someone else. I mean, we both need a new start, and there’s no better start than a new baby, right?

Laura: know Esme was arraigned today, right? She’s been remanded to Spring Ridge awaiting trial.

Nikolas: Okay, I’m glad the court is taking her pregnancy into consideration, not sending her to Pentonville. She’s gonna be safer in Spring Ridge.

Esme: Please, whatever you do, just don’t hurt my baby!

Ramona: You think you’re special just because you’re having a kid?!

Heather: How ya doing, Ramona? And you’re right about one thing. Esme is special. And so is her kid. Understood?

Ramona: Sorry, Heather. I didn’t realize she was your friend. My mistake.

Heather: Yeah. Spread the word.

Esme: Um, thank you for intervening. I don’t know what she would have done.

Heather: Nothing to worry about now. Or ever again.

Esme: Sorry I was short with you before.

Heather: [ Chuckles ] Hey. I can be a little extra sometimes. [ Chuckles ] So… friends?

Elizabeth: Dad cheated on you, not only with Reiko, but so many other women.

Carolyn: I remember them all, Lizzie. And I could have divorced him, ended things before they got out of hand. But I chose to focus on the life we were building together.

Elizabeth: Why let him treat you like that? Honestly. Don’t you have any self-respect?

Carolyn: Dad and I had a good marriage. We have a good —

Elizabeth: As long as you look the other way. How could you forgive him again and again?

Carolyn: I love him.

Elizabeth: More than you love me?

Mason: The papers — they already said that The Hook Killer was a woman, so definitely not me.

Ava: The media gets stuff wrong all the time.

Mason: [ Scoffs ] I don’t have to listen to this.

Ava: You know, the cops wanted to interview everybody that I interacted with that night, and I… I forgot to mention…

Austin: Mason Gatlin. G-A-T-L-I-N.

Ava: Oh. Of course. Same as yours.

Austin: Well, only half.

Mason: I live in Pautuck. [ Scoffs ] I don’t even live in Port Charles.

Ava: So what you doing here?

Mason: Visiting my cousin. Right, Austin?

Ava: And how often do you “visit”?

Mason: Only when necessary.

Austin: Which is really never. Uh, sadly, Mason’s really got to get going now. Isn’t it time for you to get back on the road and head home? Isn’t that right? Cuz?

Mason: Yeah. Awesome.

Austin: How much of that did you hear?

Ava: Enough to know you don’t like your cousin very much.

Austin: Eh… thank you for the assist.

Ava: My pleasure.

Austin: Just… don’t do it again.

Esme: Thank you.

Heather: Don’t worry. Ramona will make sure all the inmates know you are under my protection now.

Esme: I don’t know what I did to deserve your kindness, but I do appreciate it.

Heather: Oh, you don’t have to do anything. The moment I saw you, I just knew, deep down, we were the same. Didn’t you feel it?

Esme: Honestly, all I’m feeling right now is overwhelmed. I mean, people keep telling me that I’m a-a criminal. And, honestly, all I am is scared. I mean, what if I did all of those horrible things that I’m accused of? I mean, what if I… really killed all of those people?

Heather: Then I’m sure you had a good reason.

Esme: What reason could I possibly have?

Heather: Like protecting your child. A good mother will do anything to make sure that her child is safe and happy.

Esme: I’m sure you’re a great mom.

Heather: You think so? I do my best. I really do my best.

Spencer: I cannot think of two worse parents than my father and Esme.

Sonny: Well, okay. So what are you gonna do?

Spencer: I’m gonna hire Diane and I’m gonna sue for custody of the baby.

Sonny: Diane said she would take the case?

Spencer: She is considering it.

Sonny: You think you’re ready to raise a child?

Spencer: No, of course not. Not while I’m still living here. And that’s what the house is for. So the kid will have his own room. I’m gonna hire a live-in nanny. I have my own money now. Granted, this house is going to need to be on a much smaller scale than what I could afford if I had full access to my trust fund.  I’m gonna call Ava.

Sonny: Okay. Wait, wait. Sit down. And you need to slow down.

Spencer: I want you to know that I can take care of a little brother or a little sister. I really can.

Sonny: But what you’re saying proves that you can’t.

Dexter: Call me after so I know you’re okay?

Josslyn: Mm-hmm. Why are you here?

Cameron: Right now I do not know.

Josslyn: You could barely look at me at Kelly’s.

Cameron: I found out about Willow’s cancer, and I kept on thinking about what you said — that we have been friends forever. And I wanted to be here in case you needed me. But you didn’t.

Josslyn: I’m sorry that happened.

Cameron: Or sorry you got caught.

Josslyn: You didn’t “catch” me. I wasn’t doing anything wrong, Cam. We broke up.

Cameron: Like 10 minutes ago!

Josslyn: Cameron, over is over. And I’m so sorry that I hurt you. I really am. But as far as who I choose to spend my time with…

Cameron: Oh, that’s what we’re calling it now.

Josslyn: I don’t owe you anything.

Cameron: Well, tell me this, Joss. Did you at least wait until after we had broken up before you slept with him?

Ava: Just trying to help. After all, it’s the second time I walked in on your cousin threatening you. And I don’t much like bullies.

Austin: And I’m truly grateful.

Ava: Are you sure?

Austin: Yeah, I am. But y-you don’t want to get involved in this. It’s not your fight. You don’t want to be in the middle.

Ava: Fair enough. But what does he have on you? I have to know.

Austin: Uh, okay, well, the good news is it’s not blackmail.

Ava: What’s the bad news?

Austin: It’s just old family business.

Ava: Eh, your Cousin Mason seems to think it’s pretty current.

Austin: Yeah, I don’t care what Mason thinks. I’m gonna live my life the way I want to… and that’s far away from the Gatlins.

Cameron: You slept with him while we were still together.

Josslyn: I didn’t want it to happen that way.

Cameron: You just couldn’t help yourself.

Josslyn: Cam, I — listen. It was New Year’s. I went to Kelly’s to break up with you.

Cameron: I know. I was there.

Josslyn: No, no, no. This was before. I went there, and you were out. You were on a catering job. So I went home to change for Britt’s party, and I went to Pier 55, and I got attacked, okay, by The Hook.

Cameron: Wait. What?

Spencer: What did I get wrong?

Sonny: Pretty much all of it.

Spencer: This child is my sibling. Of course I’m gonna pay attention and love it.

Sonny: Okay. You know what? Love is a starting point. You got to support the child, emotionally and physically. They have to know that you’re gonna be there. And I’m talking from experience.

Spencer: Please.

Sonny: Took me a long time to learn to be a father and what I — I came to the conclusion that being a good father means you got to show up. You got to rock the child. You got to make the child laugh, make sure they feel safe. If they fall down, you pick them up so they can try again. And let me tell you something. You raise a child… it stops becoming about you. It’s all about them. So… you gotta ask yourself. You think you’re ready to raise a child?

Carolyn: I am sorry I made you feel that I chose your father over you. At the time, I truly believed it was best for you to forget what happened with Reiko. I wanted to save you from the crushing guilt you were feeling.

Elizabeth: But, still, why stay with Dad when he was the one that caused so much of that hurt?

Carolyn: Was I furious with Jeff? Of course I was. But the damage had been done. I did what I thought was best in an impossible situation. We’ve given each other a lot to think about. I should go.

Elizabeth: Wait.

Nikolas: I’m glad you brought up Esme. She and the baby are why I wanted you to come by tonight.

Laura: Oh? Go on.

Nikolas: Well, I want you to know that I plan to sue for full custody of my baby. And I-I hope that I have your support.

Laura: Well, I can certainly understand you wanting to raise the child.

Nikolas: Well, Esme certainly can’t, especially if she’s in prison.

Laura: I don’t think the D.A. will charge Esme for The Hook murders. I think that she will be tried for making and distributing revenge porn. And if she’s found guilty, she will probably receive a relatively light sentence.

Nikolas: I don’t care what happens to Esme as long as I can keep her away from my child.

Laura: Are you saying you wouldn’t even want her to have visitation rights?

Nikolas: Absolutely not. Even without her memory, Esme is not fit to be a mother.

Laura: Not allowing that child to see his or her mother is a mistake, one that you would regret.

Esme: Oh!

Heather: What is it? What? Happened?

Esme: Nothing. Um… the baby just kicked.

Heather: Ohh —

Esme: Oh, please don’t!

Heather: Hey. It’s okay. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. It’s just seeing you like that reminds me of when I was pregnant with my daughter. It was such a miracle, feeling her kick inside me for the first time.

Esme: Sorry for overreacting.

Heather: Ohh. [ Chuckles ] Just the hormones, right? It happens to the best of us. May I?

Esme: Um… maybe when we know each other a little better.

Heather: Okay. Sounds like a plan. You know, I understand that you feel scared about being a mother. But trust me. You’ll be a natural.

Esme: You really think so?

Heather: I do. I think that baby is very lucky.

Esme: “Lucky” is not the word I would use when you have a mom in prison.

Heather: Hey. You are not going to prison.

Esme: What makes you so sure?

Heather: Hm. Just trust me. Soon enough, the cops are gonna realize there is no way that you could have been The Hook Killer.

Esme: Was there a break in my case? Another suspect?

Heather: Oh, the PCPD is very good at following breadcrumbs. They’ll get there.

Sam: What do you think they’re talking about?

Dante: I don’t know. Do you want to go find out?

Sam: Yeah. Will do.

Dante: Hey, Heather.

Heather: Oh!

Dante: Do you want to have a little chat?

Heather: Well, I-I’m a little busy right now.

Dante: Come on. Don’t make me fire up the bus to D’Archam, alright?

Heather: Okay, Detective Handsome. I’ll be right back. Can we at least talk over there?

Dante: Yeah.

Heather: Samantha.

Sam: Heather. Esme.

Esme: Um, look, if you’re a cop, my lawyer told me not to talk to the police, so…

Sam: No, I’m — I’m not a cop. I’m a private investigator. My name is Sam McCall. I’ve been looking into your background.

Esme: Why?

Sam: I don’t think you’re The Hook.

Esme: And those other things?

Sam: Well, yeah. Y-you did those.

Esme: Oh, great.

Sam: Look, you — you deserve to know who you are and what’s going on.

Esme: Thank you. Um, but I’m afraid that I can’t help you. I don’t remember anything about my past.

Sam: I think maybe there’s someone who does.

Esme: From what I’ve been told, I’m all alone in the world, so…

Sam: Actually, that’s not true.

Laura: I think that Esme deserves the chance to be a mother. Listen. If she fails at it, that’s a different story. But listen. She might not.

Nikolas: Esme is a sociopath!

Laura: [ Sighs ] I visited her in the hospital. All I saw was a scared young woman.

Nikolas: You spoke to Esme?

Laura: Yeah. I was curious about the memory-loss thing. I guess I wanted to see for myself.

Nikolas: And?

Laura: She’s pretty convincing. She only said one thing that sort of stood out to me.

Nikolas: What’s that?

Laura: She seems to think that Spencer could be the father of her child.

Sonny: I think your heart’s in the right place. It’s just you’re trying to figure out what to do with your own life.

Spencer: Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. There’s so much that I don’t have figured out. But the one thing that I do know… is that I want to save this baby. I want to save this baby from being betrayed by my father… of being abandoned when it becomes inconvenient.

Sonny: Sorry you had to ever feel that way, Spencer.

Spencer: Yeah.

[ Knock on door ]

Sonny: Yeah? Frank.

Dexter: Sorry for interrupting. I need to get something straight with you.

Cameron: The Hook attacked you?

Josslyn: It was so scary. It was so scary. She kept coming for me. And I almost got away. And then I fell. If Britt hadn’t shown up, I’d be dead.

Cameron: But are you okay? You’re not hurt, right?

Josslyn: No, I’m not hurt. I’m fine. Britt saved my life.

Cameron: I am so sorry that you had to go through that. But what does that have to do with this?

Josslyn: Britt fought the hook. But it wasn’t until Dex showed up that The Hook ran away.

Cameron: Right. And you were so grateful to him that you just had to have sex with him!

Elizabeth: I can understand how you wind up making bad choices.

Carolyn: Thank you for hearing me. I have come all —

Elizabeth: I’m not forgiving anything, but I know how someone can do something unforgivable in extreme circumstances.

Carolyn: Have you done something you think is unforgivable?

Elizabeth: If I did, I wouldn’t talk to you about it.

Carolyn: Of course. Sorry. Now I really do have to run. But if on the off chance you do want to talk more, I’ll be staying at the Metro Court.

Elizabeth: How long will you be in town?

Carolyn: Until I finish my consultation. So a few days, maybe longer. It’s impossible to say just yet.

Elizabeth: Right. Well, I hope it works out.

Carolyn: Elizabeth, in my experience, very few things are truly unforgivable. Often it’s just a matter of time.

Josslyn: Cam, I did not sleep with Dex out of gratitude.

Cameron: I-I don’t want to know the reasons. Just admit that you lied to me.

Josslyn: I didn’t lie. I didn’t lie!

Cameron: Yes, you did, Joss! With that whole B.S. speech — “It’s not you, it’s me.” You never once mentioned Dex!

Josslyn: Cameron, it wasn’t about Dex.

Cameron: No.

Josslyn: Yeah. That’s right. We just grew apart. We did! We grew apart! We saw each other less and less. And when we did, I would hear myself saying all the right things, but I didn’t feel the way that I felt before.

Cameron: Because of what Esme did?

Josslyn: No. No. Because of me. I changed.

Cameron: Yeah, you started sleeping with Dex!

Josslyn: No.

Cameron: Yeah. Yeah. And you — you broke up with me so you could continue sleeping with him and not feel guilty about it.

Josslyn: I told you — I had already decided that we were over long before that night. I just hadn’t found the time to tell you.

Cameron: I’m sorry I got in the way of your hook-up.

Austin: This is your referral. Dr. Partha. The best plastics guy on the east coast. Should be able to deal with that scar that The Hook left, maybe even remove it all together.

Ava: Thank you very much.

Austin: You’re welcome.

Ava: I’ll give him a call. For what it’s worth, I do know a thing or two about family “disagreements.” I am the daughter of a crime boss, after all.

Austin: Oh. Yikes.

Ava: Yeah.

Austin: You ever just want out?

Ava: At first, I wanted in. I wanted it all. Yeah, I didn’t know that I was a Jerome until I was an adult, so… what about you?

Austin: Me? I — I — I had a great childhood. It was amazing. And then things started to get a little weird when I lost my dad. Jimmy Lee. He was a great guy. And he would have wanted me to stand my ground. So that’s what I’m gonna do.

Dante: What do you want with Esme?

Heather: What kind of question is that?

Dante: Well, I know you, Heather, and I know you like… collecting babies.

Heather: Oh, come on. Alright. So my maternal instincts got me carried away once or twice. As for Esme, I want nothing from that girl except the best for her.

Dante: That’s good. ‘Cause you remember the only reason you’re here at Spring Ridge is because you promised Robert Scorpio that you would give him intel on Ryan Chamberlain’s connection to Esme, right?

Heather: Absolutely.

Dante: Right. Okay, good. So what do you got?

Heather: Oh, I got something, alright.

Dante: Yeah?

Heather: Ryan asks about Esme every single day.

Dante: That’s it?

Heather: Well —

Dante: Oh, come on. This free ride’s gotta end. We gotta get you outta here.

Heather: No, no, no, no. Don’t be so hasty. There’s a definite advantage to me being here still, especially now that Esme’s here.

Dante: Mm-hmm.

Heather: I can make sure that Esme and Ryan bump into each other.

Dante: Hm.

Heather: When they do, I’ll be the translator, all the while acting like I couldn’t care less about the content of their conversation. Ryan is bound to tell her something, right? And I thought you cops wanted a little information on whether or not Esme had a partner in crime. [ Chuckles ]

Sam: Does the name Maggie Fitzgerald mean anything to you?

Esme: Why? Who is she?

Sam: Maggie was your nanny. She basically raised you after your adoptive parents died.

Esme: That’s an interesting bit of trivia, but I don’t think I’ve needed a nanny for a while now.

Sam: Well, I have reason to believe that you stayed in touch through letters.

Esme: Can I see them?

Sam: Unfortunately, I don’t have them right now. Actually, I don’t know where they are. I think you may have took them with you when you left Wyndemere.

Esme: Maybe. I mean, I could have done literally anything.

Sam: Do you remember riding on a boat?

Esme: Not really. I… [ Sighs ] Sorry.

Sam: No.  Don’t — don’t worry. It’s okay. Just — just take your time.

Esme: I’m starting to think it might be better if I never remember who I am. I mean, do I really want to remember a life where the only person who cared about me was paid to do it?

Sam: Maggie mentioned in one of her letters that your biological father could be somewhere here in New York State.

Esme: I mean, if that’s the case, why hasn’t he tried to contact me?

Sam: I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t know y-you’re in trouble. Do you want me to try and find him?

Sonny: Is this an emergency or what?

Dexter: No, but it is important.

Spencer: My uncle and I are having a family discussion. So, errand boy, go polish a fender! Pick up somebody’s dry cleaning! Okay?!

Sonny: Spencer. I got it. Wait outside.

Spencer: I really don’t like that guy!

Sonny: Yeah, you don’t — you don’t have to worry about — about him. Trust me. I just want you to know that I’m proud that you want to protect your brother or your sister. You know? There’s a lot of your mother in you.

Spencer: Really?

Sonny: Yeah. She’d have been very proud of you.

Spencer: But do you think that fighting for this baby is a mistake?

Sonny: Well, that’s just my opinion. It doesn’t matter what I think. I just want you to know — if you take this on, it’s gonna be a fight with your father.

Nikolas: Esme thinks Spencer might be the father of her baby? How?

Laura: I don’t know. [ Sighs ] She talked to Spencer. Probably Spencer told her who they used to be to each other.

Nikolas: No, this seems more like an Esme trick. I mean, god, even without her memory, she’s still a schemer.

Laura: Maybe. My gut instinct is that she really can’t remember who she used to be.

Nikolas: Let’s hope it stays that way.

Laura: Why? I mean, if she remembers, I think it will make your case against her stronger. Why wouldn’t you —

[ Cellphone rings ]

Laura: I’m sorry about this. Um, I — I’m gonna answer this. I’ll just be a minute.

Nikolas: By all means.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Laura: Hello? I’m on my way.

Cameron: If you thought I couldn’t look at you before at Kelly’s, that is nothing compared to how I feel right now.

Josslyn: I’m sorry. But I’ve got to ask you. You cannot tell anybody about me and Dex

Spencer: I need some fresh air. I’m gonna go for a walk. And, uh, promise to think about what you said.

Sonny: I know you will.

Spencer: Alright.

Sonny: And if you need me, you know I’m here to talk, right? No matter what time or whenever…

Spencer: I know.

Sonny: You know. Do what you gotta do, okay?

Spencer: Thanks again.

Sonny: Yeah.

Spencer: You’re up.

Sonny: Dex.

Dex: I’m sorry for interrupting before.

Sonny: That’s okay.  I just want you to know it’s always family first.

Dex: I do.

Sonny: So what do you got to tell me?

Austin: Good luck with Dr. Partha and with everything else.  I hope things go your way.

Ava: Thanks. Good luck to you, too.

Austin: Thank you.

Dante: You got one week. One week to get something solid that leads to something out of Ryan. Or, I’m sorry, it’s back to D’Archam.

Heather: Know that it won’t be that easy, but Ryan and I do have a very special connection.

Esme: It’s a very kind offer, but from what I understand, I have no money to hire you to help me find my father or this… nanny.

Sam: It would be no charge.

Esme: What’s in it for you?

Sam: Well, the truth would affect a lot of people I know. And if it doesn’t pan out, then neither of us is any worse off.  But if it does, then we both get answers. Come on, what do you say?

Esme: I say let’s do it.  Thank you.

Sam: Excellent. I’ll get right on it.

Esme: Um, I really hope you can find this nanny, but I know that it might not be the happiest story, but I need to know everything you can find out about who my father is.

Heather: What’s this about a nanny?

Esme: Oh, turns out my old nanny Maggie, um…

Sam: Fitzgerald.

Esme: Fizgerald. Um…Turns out she might know where my father is.

Laura: So, tell me, what’s going on?

Elizabeth: My mother’s in town.

Laura: Carolyn?

Elizabeth: Hm.

Laura: Why? Do you think she wants to make amends?

Elizabeth:  Well, apparently that’s just a bonus. She’s here to consult on a patient.

Laura: And you don’t believe her.

Elizabeth:  Well, I don’t know. After everything she and my dad have done, can I really risk trusting her?

Nikolas: Thank you so much for coming.

On the next “General Hospital” —

Anna (to Valentin): There’s not enough time before it’s too late.

Elizabeth: Can I really risk trusting her?

Nikolas (to Carolyn): You’ll do exactly as I say.

Laura: I’m starting to feel that way about Nikolas.

Maxie (to Sam): When were you going to tell me about this?

Josslyn (to Cameron): I’m afraid of what Sonny could do if he finds out.

Sonny (to Dex): That still doesn’t let you off the hook.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Boy that, uh, that slideshow I made for my grandparents kinda got to me. I can imagine. It was really something. Yeah, just, I don’t know, seeing all those picture. How long they were together, all the stuff they got through. It’s like the days of their lives were written by Emily Bronte, directed by Hitchcock.

Well, I wouldn’t have put it that way, but I think I know what you mean. Yeah, they were, they were together a long time before I was even born, but ever since I can remember they were. Solid. You know, even after everything they went through and they went through a lot, like I said, good and bad. There was never any doubt between either of them that they were with the person that they were meant to be with.

I used to, uh, think about. When I was watching movies, uh, Ingrid Bergman and Bogart standing in the fog at that tiny airport, Gregory Peck on the back of Audrey Hepburn’s, Vespa, even Carrie Grant shoving Katherine Hepburn back into that niche and there was, there’s this connect. That was always there no matter what was, uh, going on around him.

Now I know why you love those movies so much.

You know, I, I always thought that, um, Know that I’d, that I’d find someone that, uh, the first time I fell in love would be the last,

and now it’s the, it’s the end, honey.

Dear Lauren, I know we’re asking for a miracle,

and if it’s your wealth, please save her. I know it might be time for her to be with you in heaven, but we need her here. You my prayer.

I was just gonna drink you,

Dr. Horton. Why? Why was Dr. Evans moved? Why? I’m standing right next to her bed and it’s empty.

Have had a lifetime. Wonderful memories have.

Like sand through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

What the hell is going on here?

So I, I just talked to the nurses and they said we could visit Marlene up, but only two at a phone. Okay. Um, you two go. Okay, we, we’ll come back and get you. Thank.

So how you doing?

Not great. I’m sorry.

I asked you a question, what the hell is going on here, Johnny? He was just really upset about your grandmother, and is she? No. No, she’s, she’s not dead. She’s just, uh, she’s up on the roof. Grandpa John.

Hold on. I’m gonna get some help.

Do you want me to pray with. No thanks. We were praying when you came in, or at least um, aunt Bellon, uncle Eric, where I can’t , I can’t really pray. Hmm. I mean, I think God knows how you feel between law firm.

You know, I, I’ve been thinking about, um, when we. When you and I like first

I was scared of how I felt about you. I didn’t know how you felt about me, didn’t know how I felt about me.

How weird is it that the only person I could talk to honestly about that was my grandmother? And she told me to fight for you.

Thank God she did. Although it wasn’t much of a fight. It’s not like I was playing hard to get,

sorry. It’s work. You should answer it. No, no, no, I’m not with. Your grandma wouldn’t want you to put your entire life on home.

This is Well, you’re kidding.

Hey. Hey. Did you get to see your mom? Yeah, I. How did it go? It was a nightmare. So Johnny found all these pictures of your grandparents and he put ’em together in a slideshow and then we set it up on the roof. I think to avoid roofs. What just sounds really sweet? That’s what grandma wanted. She didn’t want, uh, she didn’t want to die in a hospital, but.

No, no, no, no. It’s all right. It’s all right. I need to know who authorized the move and why I wasn’t consulted. Stat. Your mother’s been moved and I don’t know why. Oh my God. Please just try not to worry. If there was a change in her condition, I would’ve been told I’m the treating physician. Oh, God, snake.

Could this. You don’t know where she is, John, her, stop, get some help right now. Please help her. Right. Help.

Right. Yeah. No, I, I understand. Okay. Okay. Yeah, I’ll, I’ll, I’ll talk to you later. That sounded like good news. Um, the projects I’ve been working on got the green light. Oh my God. That, that’s wonderful.

It’s not, it’s not wonderful. Well, they want me on set. Yeah, the, that’s in New Zealand and they want me to go now.

I I, I’m gonna call my agent and tell him, tell him I can’t. Okay. Look, I know it’s, I know the timing sucks, but I mean, like I just said, your grandma wouldn’t want you to pass this off. Listen, I, I, I’m gonna stay here and Salem until I figure out what’s going on with her. Huh? Okay. Just, I understand. Call your agent, you know, tell him about your grandma, but just don’t say you’re not going.

This isn’t just about my, my grandma. I, I can’t leave because of us.

Okay. Drink this and tell me what happened. Thank you.

Oh, what? It’s Chris Tea. It’s supposed to be calming. My mother used to give it to me when I was upset. You look pretty upset right now.

So the visit, what happened? Well, uh, when I said that it was a nightmare, I wasn’t just talking about myself. Uh, my mom is hallucinating normal time. I’m. It must have been rough. She didn’t recognize me. She thought I was my dead brother. Charlie,

I, uh, gave Rafe a statement, so if he can arrest Kristen for what she did to grandma, I know. Do you want a medal or something? Not no, I I only told you cause I thought she didn’t know. Well, I did. Sorry if I didn’t praise you enough for standing up to the Damaris. Very brave of you, Ellie. Johnny is upset about your grandmother just like you are.

I really don’t need you to explain my brother to me. Also, this is not about my grandmother. This is about what I just walked in on. It’s not supposed to mean that it’s a little hard to believe that your grief stricken when I just saw you coming onto my girl.

You took her to the roof. She didn’t wanna be in this room anymore. Kids, she just wanted to be home and I couldn’t take away from the hospital. So we went up on the roof just to be under the stars. Oh. I’m thinking it’s maybe it was a little bit too much. No, no. You did the right thing. I had to do something.

She wanted to go home. She wanted to be in her own bed.

I’m.

Can’t. I can’t, I can’t.

To be with.

Do you want me to tell the rest of the family?

I’m so sorry.

Your mom thought you were your dead. Half Brother Charlie, we didn’t grow up together. I, I didn’t even meet him until recently. He did some very, very bad things.

Yeah, I have a brother like that. No, no. Lee hasn’t done anything close to what Charlie did. No. Charlie was a, uh, he was a lost soul. I think. I don’t, I don’t know. Maybe I’m just. It makes sense out of it all, but I think that he had so much pain on the inside that he just had to inflict that on. Others. What did he do?

I didn’t know where to start. Uh, he hurt a lot of people. Worst of all though, is what he did to Allie.

All, we’re all really upset, okay? We’re not thinking straight. I know what I saw, what you saw, what you saw was me about to fall apart and Chanel trying to comfort me. Craig, I don’t need your twist on how things happened because according to you, you never do anything wrong. But what about you? You’re gonna lie to me instead of telling me the truth.

Allie

Grandma is.

You.

Maybe you can talk some sense because none of this makes any sense to me.

You know, I don’t, I dunno if you realize, but like you alive, people have talked to me about things that are happening in their lives

and listen.

You were the one person that I could count on to listen to me.

No, you always know my faith is strong.

Then when life was hard, my faith sustained me

till now.

See, I asked God spare her life.

Stop listening.

I never needed someone to talk to more right than right now.

Okay, I think I’m gonna need you to explain this. Okay. Let’s just say that I, I, that my grandmother gets better, and, and then I, I go, we we’re gonna be apart for. At least six months, son. It’s a 16 hour flight one way. We’re never gonna have time to to, to go and see each other. I know. But this, this movie, you’ve put so much time and effort into it.

I know. And more than that, if you give this up, I, I might not get another chance that you’re You’re right. You’re right. And I, I know, even though we got past that fight we had on Christmas, I feel like it, it, it never would’ve happened. Or may, maybe it would’ve happened, but it wouldn’t have been so vicious and so sad.

I know we’ve been, we’ve had our ups and downs, but that, that felt different. I mean, that, that didn’t feel like us and that’s, that scared me. Well, I think what scared you was that I had befriend Leo Stark again, which of course you were right and I was wrong. Okay. I thought I should give him another chance.

I thought he could change and he did into an assistant kidnapper.

Look. Well, you said that you were scared because it didn’t feel like us anymore. Okay. But this, this movie is a dream come true. And if you let me hold you. Then you won’t be you anymore,

and then we could never be us.

Thing is that Charlie had this kind of gift and he could get outta people’s skin, make them,

I can’t really put it in towards. All I know is that he made my mom feel like all the things he did were her fault. That she loved me and didn’t love him, and that’s why he turned out like he did. And so as soon as she saw me, the, the guilt, he just made her think I was Charlie. That’s awful. What was really awful is that she started seeing Charlie after her first breakdown.

It was like this little devil on her shoulder, and I had hoped that when she started taking her meds, that the hallucinations would go away. But right when I walked in the door, she immediately started screaming, blaming me for all of the horrible things she had done. Thank you for Charlie. Right, right.

I, I tried to get through to her. I tried, I tried to make her see that it was me, but I couldn’t, and I had to and watch them, restrain her, sedate her, and then I had to watch them drag her away after she begged me to.

She didn’t know it was you. Trip, whatever part of her did.

My mom said that she hates me and, and maybe she hates me because I left her. In that place, uh, with Charlie alone in a nightmare that she may never wake up from.

So sorry. . God. Oh.

Are you okay? No.

I love you too.

So does everybody,

and not, not just love mommy. They respect you and admire you.

I’ve been so proud to be your daughter.

I, I just keep thinking about when we were in that coma and I had to fight everyone to honor your wishes, you know, to not keep you hooked up, to have been leader.

And then you let me off the hook. At least we thought you did. You woke up, but it wasn’t really you. It was Hattie and

God, I wish that this was handy right now. I just wish someone was gonna walk through that door and tell me. It’s not Dr. Marlene Evans, my mom,

do you remember when I was little on, we used to play hide and go seek . God, you were the best of that.

I would close my eyes and count to 10 and say, ready or not, here I come and, and then I couldn’t find you.

And then, so eventually I would just give up and, and I would just feel really. Scared that you were really gone. I was never gonna find you.

And then you’d come out and God, I would say, where were you hiding? And you would never tell. You said it was your super secret hiding. Please

God, why am I thinking about all this? I mean, I’m a grown woman and I just.

I just feel like that scary little girl.

I’m afraid I’m never gonna find you,

God, which is just a game I wish. But I could just close my eyes and count to 10 and just pray that this time I’m gonna find you.

You can’t lose her. I have to find her.

You’ll.

Just thank you. I know how lucky I hate them.

Okay, I’m gonna let you say goodbye. I’ll be right outside though. If you need me, I’ll need you. We’re all gonna need each other right now.

I.

Johnny, how’s your grandmother? She, uh, she just died. My god. So sorry. I’m sorry too. No, you just, You save. You’re sorrys Paolo. Okay. I just lost my grandma. The one I had left like Trip lost his stepmother. I know what you’re going through. Okay. Orpheus, that bastard killed Kayla too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Orpheus killed my grandmother.

He killed Kayla. He killed Cape, but sure, lunatic mother killed my other grandma, Susan. I can’t defend what she did, but she’s mentally ill . That’s convenient, isn’t it? You know, she made me believe she was a good person. She was just playing the victim card to get what she wanted, and now that it’s time for her to pay for what she’s done, all of a suddenly, she’s normal bass.

Watch it. Watch it. Your mother is a homicidal lunatic bitch, Johnny. He started it.

How’s Grandpa John Kate’s with her right now saying goodbye now. I’ve never seen anybody love anyone as much as you loved her. I know. Um, do you want me to call your mom? Yeah. Could you? Yeah, I just, I know she, she’s gonna try and be strong for me. I don’t want that for her right now. Okay. Okay. For your love.

You should go. No, Allie, I really need to go find Will, so I’ll just see you later.

Hi. Hi. I, I don’t think I can talk about this right.

Not until we know how your grandma stole Sonny. Just being away from you for that long. Also, it like it. I, Hey, you said you couldn’t talk about this right now. So let’s wait. This isn’t the.

I just left a message for Sammy to call.

Why don’t we go to the chapel and say one more prayer,

God.

Oh, hello, Dr. Evans. My name is John Black

Doc. This is wrong on so many levels. You’re those strong one. You’re the one that could go on me, not so sure about.

You remember when we first met? Yeah, I know that was a lifetime ago. I actually, I literally didn’t even know who I was. Yeah, I thought, you know, I was some good at this, this, this tough guy. You know, I thought I was, oh hell, I don’t know. I don’t know what I thought. But you,

you knew when you saw right through me, you,

you saw the man. Not only the man that I was, but the man that I could be. Again,

doc, when I first kissed you, it changed everything cuz that was the first time that I knew who I was. See, I, I was the guy that I’d fallen in love with, Dr. Evan.

I trusted you and depended on you,

and I always love you, Dr. Evans.

From that first.

Did you everything. It went in this way for us,

Ronnie,

we. Together.

Did you ever dream love? What day?

I wish that dream could last forever.

Comes once in time.

You’re the one I wanna live for, for, you’re the one I need to find. And the truth is, I will only build this way

once in a.

Comes once in.

You’re the one I want for you for. You’re the one I need to find, and the truth is, I only feel this way

once in a lifetime.

I will turn back time for

I will never be. So fine as the

here comes one in a lifetime.

The other one who makes it better.

The truth is, I will only feel this way.

Lifetime. There’s no place on earth. I would rather be right here with you.

I’m stories over duck. No way. This is. This isn’t Goodbye, baby, because I know in my heart one day.

I love you.

You all right? I’m fine. I know Johnny was upset, but he had no right to say those things about your mother. Thank you. Thanks for being there for me. That’s what friends are for.

Hey, you. Uh, you mind if I join you? Sure.

You know, mom really loved you like a son. We were just talking about how she was on her side from the very beginning.

I think maybe we should say a prayer. It would. Where’s on cleric?

Hit me again.

I can.

I know you gotta be up there, doc, you’ve been looking out for all of us.

So,

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Bill: You’re right, brooke. Everything you’re saying is absolutely right.

Brooke: You are a good man, bill. The way you love, just so passionate. So powerful. It belongs with somebody who deserves it. Not with someone like sheila, who’s gonna just drag you down into her darkness. You’re too good for that.

Paul: Here.

Deacon: Oh, thanks.

Paul: You haven’t slept in days.

Deacon: Make that weeks. But it’s gonna be worth it.

Paul: You nervous?

Deacon: A little bit, but I’m mostly excited. I’ve been waiting for a long time for a break like this.

Paul: Man, I’m so happy for you. I mean, to think that someday you would own this place, just can’t believe it.

Deacon: You and me both. Hey, honey.

Hope: Hi!

Deacon: Your timing could not be any better.

Hope: Uh, why? What’s going on?

Deacon: You are looking at the new proprietor of this fine dining establishment. Welcome to deacon sharpe’s il giardino.

Hope: What?

Hope: Okay. So how– how did this–

Deacon: So how did I go from cleaning the toilets to owning the joint? Um, well, I knew the previous owner was looking to get out, and so I put together some investors. I scraped together the money for the down payment, and I am gonna be working day and night to pay it off. But hope, I gotta tell you, I think it’s gonna be worth it. I feel like I finally found my niche after searching for so many years.

Hope: This is amazing.

Deacon: You know, a big part of this was making you proud.

Hope: Well, guess what? I am very proud.

Deacon: Hey, do you wanna get a bite? I know this new place under new management. I can get us a set table.

Hope: Um…

Deacon: What?

Hope: Yeah, it’s just–

Deacon: What’s up?

Hope: So I’m guessing you haven’t heard.

Deacon: What? I’ve been pretty out of the loop doing this 24/7.

Hope: So you don’t know about sheila?

Deacon: What’s there to know? She’s in prison. Probably gonna be locked up for the rest of her life.

Brooke: Bill, are you ready? Sheila is one phone call away from being back in prison and out of our lives.

Sheila: I’m not going to listen to–

Brooke: Ugh.

Sheila: I meant everything that I said to you. I love you and I am willing to walk away from all of this if it’s costing you too much. You just say the word and I will walk away right now. But that has got to be your decision, not brooke’S. Hi, I’m lauren, I lost 67 pounds on golo.

Deacon: This is crazy, hope. I’m– wait, wait. So sheila’s free? I– so bill goes over to finn and steffy’s and– and what? He blackmails them so that they don’t press charges or testify? I–

Hope: Well, finn and steffy are pretty certain that bill bribed the judge to drop the charges.

Deacon: That’s unbelievable.

Hope: Well, yeah. Tell me about it. We keep underestimating sheila. I mean, just when we think she’s been put away once and for all she just–

Deacon: Yeah. This doesn’t make any sense though. I mean, bill hates sheila.

Hope: Well, not anymore. Dad, like I said, something in bill has changed and so many people have tried to get through to him, but it’s just, it’s like he’s lost.

Deacon: Yeah. Billionaire problems. That’s rough.

Hope: Well, money can’t buy you love.

Deacon: I’d like to put that theory to the test.

Hope: Dad!

Deacon: Look, I’m sorry. I’m just having a tough time wrapping my head around spencer having any emotions other than arrogance and chronic jackass-ery.

Hope: Well, that being said, he has burned pretty much every bridge. So he was alone, probably terrified. And that made him vulnerable to sheila.

Deacon: Yeah, but why? I mean, like, what’s the angle here? I’m not getting it. What does bill being sad have to do with working with sheila?

Hope: Oh, I don’t think he’s working with her dad.

Deacon: That’s exactly what I’m saying. Then what–

Hope: He’s protecting her because he cares about her.

Deacon: Stop. Don’t say it.

Hope: Bill and sheila are together.

Sheila: Look at me. Don’t look at her. They all wanna change you, bill. They see you as a potential, a fixer upper. I look at you and I see the man I’ve been waiting for my entire life.

Brooke: You can try all you want, sheila, but deep down bill knows this isn’t what he wants. Bill, she shot steffy. The mother of your grandchild. She shot me. She shot her own son for god’s sake.

Sheila: That was an accident.

Brooke: An accident? Did you call 9-1-1? No, you pulled the trigger and you ran.

Sheila: Please, don’t let her come between us. Stop it.

Brooke: There is no “us.” Bill, as long as sheila is out of prison and running free on the streets, she’s gonna be a danger to you, to your family, to all of us. Is that what you really want? I– I don’t know what she did to get to you, but you have to listen to me. You have to trust me.

Bill: You’re right, brooke. Everything you’re saying is right.

Brooke: Oh, thank god. I knew you’d come to your senses.

Bill: I can’t argue with any of it. Sheila being here doesn’t make sense.

Brooke: Okay. Okay. Well, well then let’s– let’s do this.

Bill: But it’s what I want. It’s what I need. Did you know, some ordinary cold medicines can raise your blood pressure?

Deacon: Are you– are you sure that finn and steffy didn’t get this wrong somehow? Because I’m just not seeing it. I mean, sheila and bill together? Come on.

Hope: Well, steffy and finn confirmed it. Liam and wyatt confirmed it. Aunt katie too. I mean, they’ve all seen them together and it does get worse.

Deacon: How the hell could this get any worse?

Hope: They claim to love each other.

Deacon: Love? H– how is this even possible?

Hope: I don’t know. I think bill was down and out and sheila capitalized on it.

Deacon: When did this start? How did this even happen? How long has it been going on?

Hope: I don’t– I don’t know. I– we are totally and completely in the dark about all this. All I know is that liam is very, very concerned about his father. And frankly, we all are.

Deacon: But you think that sheila’s just using bill, right?

Hope: Well, of course. I mean, I don’t think someone like sheila is even capable of love. I mean, any sane person could see that. And that’s how we know bill isn’t okay right now. I mean, what kind of person would have real feelings for some

Brooke: You want her, bill? You need her? How can you say that knowing the danger we’re all in?

Bill: Sheila won’t be a threat.

Brooke: Won’t be a threat? She will always be a threat. Think of everything that she’s done to us. Think about taylor, steffy, finn, hayes. Think about your grandchildren, kelly and beth, your son. My god! We’re all a family, bill, and she’s a danger to all of us as long as she’s roaming free. I don’t know what you said or what you did to get into his head, but my god, bill, she is using you.

Sheila: That is enough. Bill is not a man that can be manipulated, not by me, and most definitely not by you.

Brooke: We loved each other, bill. I am just looking out for you. You have to know that. Please, just listen to me.

Sheila: No, you know what? You listen to him.

Brooke: Shut up! Shut up! Just let bill speak for once.

Sheila: He wants me to speak for him.

Brooke: Oh, god. For the first time, he has somebody that understands him and truly appreciates him. Something that you and your sister could never do.

Brooke: My god. This is it, bill? This is what you call love? This isn’t love. Can’t you see what she’s doing? Please just open your eyes. She’s a danger to everybody.

Sheila: Advice on love? Are you really that arrogant? And why would bill listen to anything that you have to say about love, brooke? A woman who allowed a man to bounce back and forth between you and another for years. A woman that had an affair and slept with and had a daughter by her grown daughter’s husband. You make me sick. All of you people, you know, you throw stones from your glass pedestals thinking that you’re better than all of us.

Brooke: You nearly killed your own son, sheila.

Sheila: Yeah. And taylor nearly killed the man that you say you loved. What about her? Did she pay for her crimes? The hypocrisy is just sickening to me. And that is what bill has finally seen. Because unlike you and katie, I am never gonna turn my back on him. I am never going to leave him alone. He finally found someone that wears her flaws proudly and I am not gonna call him a monster for his. You can’t stand this, can you? Seeing that he needs me and that he loves me. But you know what? It’s the truth. So you just better learn to accept it. Listen, I’m done settling. Because this is my secret.

Deacon: I’m just trying to wrap my head around this. Bill and sheila in a relationship?

Hope: Yeah. None of us could really believe it. I mean, the place bill has spiraled into must be pretty dark if he thinks he’s in love with sheila.

Deacon: I mean darker than usual? Sure this isn’t just bill being bill?

Hope: I mean, bill has done some terrible questionable things, but for him to think that he has feelings for sheila after everything that she has done? I mean, you know what? Dad, I’m– I’m actually– I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t be talking about this right now. I should– I should be celebrating your new place with you and not talking about sheila.

Deacon: Listen, I’m glad you came here and got me caught up. Believe me. Um, hey, I’ll tell you what, why don’t you come here tonight for dinner, okay? We can toast then.

Hope: I would love that. Congratulations again, dad. I am very, very, very proud of you.

Deacon: Thank you.

Hope: All right, I gotta go.

Deacon: Okay.

Hope: And dad?

Deacon: Daughter.

Hope: I know you and sheila were close at one time. So if she calls, hang up the phone.

Deacon: Don’t worry about me. I know to handle sheila.

Sheila: Deacon,

deacon, deacon.

You haven’t been listening.

I’m a survivor.

Yes, I’ve had ups and downs

and there have been

misunderstandings,

but I– I– I truly believe

people get what they deserve.

I deserve another chance.

The best is yet to come

so just stay tuned.

I’ve said it before

and I’ll say it again.

You have not seen

the last of sheila carter.

Deacon: Son of a bitch. You did it, sheila. You really did it.

Sheila: I think you need to leave, brooke. You’re upsetting bill.

Brooke: I’ve really never been this worried about you, bill. Are you gonna let sheila do this? Really? You’re gonna let her kick me out of your home? You’re gonna let her speak for you? My god, bill! Do you have anything to say for yourself?

Bill: There is A… deep, painful emptiness inside of me. I loved you. There was nothing I wouldn’t have done for you, for your sister. Katie and I have a family. Family that means everything to me. You mean everything to me. I put my heart on the line for you over and over and over again. For katie. You trampled on it.

Brooke: Bill, bill–

Sheila: No, just let him finish.

Bill: You walked out on me. You and katie, you abandoned me and that hurt. I have feelings and I have needs.

Brooke: Right. Right, you have needs. Yeah. This is what you need, sheila.

Bill: Yes. Yes. Sheila is what I need.

Sheila: I think you’ve heard enough, okay? You understand why I’m here. Because I understand him. I accept him, I support him and I love him.

Brooke: Okay. I can’t believe this is happening. But you know what, bill? I’m not gonna stop until I am able to get through to you. Mark my words. And I am not gonna stop ’til you are behind bars rotting in prison where you belong. You hear me, sheila? Rotting in prison!

Mike Manning of "The Way Out"

Interview with Mike Manning of the film “The Way Out” by Thane 1/16/23

It was great to catch up with Mike Manning about a new thriller he appears in. His TV credits include “This Is Us” and “Days Of Our Lives“. If you like horror/thriller movies, then he’s worth a follow.

From writer/director Barry Jay, and starring Jonny Beauchamp (“Penny Dreadful”), Emmy winner Mike Manning (“Teen Wolf”, “This is Us”), Ashleigh Murray (“Riverdale”), and Sherri Shepherd (“Life is Perfect”), an unnerving and riveting thriller from Terror Films hitting digital February 10, 2023.

Alex is an aspiring singer/songwriter, a drug addict who’s been damaged from childhood abuse. After the death of his father and inheriting the family home, he takes in a roommate, a fighter, who takes Alex under his wing, teaching him how to fight back and stand up to abusers. But soon this leads Alex down a dark path that threatens his sobriety and his life.

“I disagree”, says Barry Jay (Killer Therapy, The Chosen). “Absence doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. Sometimes it gives you the time and distance to gain the clarity to see how badly you were mistreated and the courage to finally do something about it. That was me – I moved out of an abusive household when I was 20 years old. I had been abused until after I was a senior in high school. Severely underweight, shut down, feared everyone and everything and with good reason. Sobriety was a gift that helped me heal through all of that, a day at a time and that is the inspiration for THE WAY OUT.

My hope is to send a message to the abuser and the abused. To the abuser, I hope to show the ripple effect of their heinous actions, and how it can boomerang back to them, rightfully destroying their lives. To the abused, I hope to show there is hope, hope for better days, ability to find the self-esteem and strength to create boundaries, how forgiveness can be the thing that helps you finally drop the rock so you can create a better new and healthy life.”

THE WAY OUT is on digital February 10, 2023 worldwide from Terror Films.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Wendy sits in the town square and sends a text message to Johnny, asking how Marlena is doing and tells him that she’s there for him if there’s anything she can do.

At the hospital, Johnny tells Chanel that the slideshow of John and Marlena really got to him. Johnny talks about how long they’ve been together and all they have been through, like the Days of their Lives was a movie. Johnny notes that they were together before he was even born, but ever since he could remember, they were so solid even after everything they went through. Johnny says there was never any doubt between them that they were with the person they wanted to be with. Johnny compares John and Marlena to famous movies, saying they always had the connection no matter what was going on around them. Johnny mentions always thinking that he would find someone where the first time he fell in love would be the last, but now it’s the end.

Eric prays in the chapel with Will and Belle, asking God to save Marlena.

Sarah goes to check on Marlena but finds she is gone from her hospital room. Sarah pulls out her phone and makes a call, questioning why Marlena was moved.

John holds Marlena on the rooftop as they watch the slideshow of their photos. John says they have had a lifetime of wonderful memories. John then calls out to Marlena as she passes out in his arms. John then starts to cry.

Chanel puts her hand on Johnny’s face and they almost kiss before Allie arrives and questions what the hell is going on here.

Sonny goes to the chapel and announces they can visit Marlena, but only two at a time. Will tells Eric and Belle that they should go so they exit. Sonny asks Will how he’s doing. Will admits he’s not great. Sonny says he’s sorry and hugs him.

Allie asks again what the hell is going on here. Chanel explains that Johnny was just really upset about Marlena. Johnny mentions that Marlena is up on the roof with John.

John tries telling Marlena that she’s going to be okay and he’s going to get her some help.

Sonny offers to pray with Will, encouraging that God knows how he feels and that he loves Marlena. Will recalls when he and Sonny first got together and how he was scared of his feelings while the only person he could talk to honestly about it, was his grandmother Marlena, who told him to fight for Sonny. Sonny holds his hand and says thank God that she did. Will then gets a call from work. Sonny says he should answer it, pointing out that Marlena wouldn’t want him to put his entire life on hold. Will answers the call and asks if they are kidding.

Wendy runs in to Tripp in the town square. She asks if he saw his mom. Tripp confirms that he did. Wendy asks how it went. Tripp calls it a nightmare.

Chanel explains to Allie that Johnny found pictures of John and Marlena to put together in a slideshow and they set it up on the roof. Johnny adds that Marlena didn’t want to die in a hospital bed.

Eric and Belle go to Marlena’s hospital room. Belle starts to panic when she sees Marlena is not there but Sarah tells her it’s alright. Sarah says on the phone that she needs to know who authorized the move and why she was not consulted. Sarah informs Eric and Belle that Marlena has been moved and she doesn’t know why. Sarah tells them not to worry as if there was a change in her condition, she would’ve been told. Eric questions not knowing where she is. John then wheels Marlena back in and tells them that Marlena needs help right now.

Will says he understands and ends his phone call. Sonny says it sounded like good news. Will informs Sonny that the project he’s been working on got the green light. Sonny exclaims that’s wonderful and hugs him. Sonny then asks if it’s not wonderful. Will then reveals that they want him on set now and the set is in New Zealand. Will says he will call his agent to cancel. Sonny knows the timing sucks but repeats that Marlena wouldn’t want him to pass this up. Will wants to stay in Salem until he figures out what is going on with her. Sonny suggests he call his agent to tell him what’s going on with Marlena, but not to say he’s not going. Will then states that it’s not just Marlena, but he can’t go because of them.

Wendy and Tripp sit together in the town square. Wendy gives him some calming tea and asks more about what happened with Ava since he looks pretty upset. Tripp informs her that Ava was hallucinating the whole time. Wendy says she’s sorry as that must have been rough. Tripp adds that she didn’t even recognize him and thought he was his dead brother, Charlie.

Johnny mentions giving Rafe a statement so he can arrest Kristen for what she did to Marlena. Allie responds that she already knew and asks if he wants a medal. Allie sarcastically calls him brave for standing up to the DiMeras. Chanel tells Allie that Johnny is upset about Marlena, just like she is. Allie says she doesn’t need her to explain her brother to her. Allie adds that it’s not about Marlena but about what she just walked in on. Johnny questions what that means. Allie declares that it’s a little hard to believe that Johnny is grief-stricken when she just saw him coming on to her girlfriend.

Eric questions John taking Marlena up to the roof. John explains that Marlena didn’t want to be in the room anymore and she wanted to go home, but he couldn’t take her from the hospital so he took her to the roof. John cries that maybe it was too much. Belle encourages that he did the right thing. John adds that Marlena wanted to go home and be in her own bed. Sarah then announces that she’s sorry, but Marlena is gone. Belle says she can’t do this and rushes out of the room. John tells Eric that he needs to be with Belle. John asks Eric not to leave Marlena alone as he goes after Belle. Sarah asks Eric if he wants her to tell the rest of the family. Sarah says she’s so sorry as she exits the room while Eric sits at Marlena’s side and holds her hand and cries.

Wendy questions Tripp saying that Ava thought he was his dead brother, Charlie. Tripp explains that he was his half-brother as they didn’t grow up together and he only met him recently. Tripp adds that Charlie did some very bad things. Wendy responds that she has a brother like that. Tripp states that Li hasn’t done anything close to what Charlie did. Tripp calls Charlie a lost soul. Tripp thinks that Charlie had so much pain inside that he had to inflict it on others. Wendy asks what he did. Tripp notes that he hurt a lot of people, worst of all being what he did to Allie.

Johnny tells Allie that they are all really upset and not thinking straight. Allie says she knows what she saw. Johnny argues that he was about to fall apart and Chanel was just trying to comfort him. Allie doesn’t want to hear Johnny’s twist and questions if Chanel is going to lie to her. Sarah then approaches. Allie asks if it’s Marlena.

Eric remains at Marlena’s side and cries that none of this makes any sense to him. Eric says he listened to other peoples’ problems in their lives, while Marlena was the only person he could count on to listen to him. Eric notes that Marlena always knew his faith was strong even when life was hard, until now. Eric states that he asked God to spare Marlena’s life, but he stopped listening. Eric then breaks down crying over Marlena and says he’s never needed someone to talk to more than right now but she’s gone.

Sonny asks Will to explain things. Will says that if Marlena gets better and then he goes, he and Sonny will be apart for at least six months with a sixteen hour flight so they will never have time to see each other. Sonny argues that he put so much time and effort into this movie. Will acknowledges that he might not get another chance. Will talks about their fight on Christmas and how it didn’t feel like them which scared him. Sonny understands it scared him that he befriended Leo Stark. Sonny admits that Will was right and he was wrong about Leo changing. Sonny encourages that this movie is Will’s dream come true, so if he holds him back, he won’t be himself anymore.

Tripp tells Wendy that Charlie had a gift for getting under peoples’ skin. Tripp states that Charlie made Ava feel like everything he did was her fault and that she loved Tripp more than him. Tripp says Ava’s guilt made her think that he was Charlie. Wendy says that’s awful. Tripp talks about how Ava started seeing Charlie after her first breakdown like a devil on her shoulder. Tripp hoped the meds would make the hallucinations go away, but right when he walked in, she immediately started screaming and blaming him for all the horrible things she had done. Tripp says he tried to get through to her so she could see it was him, but he couldn’t, so he had to watch them restrain and sedate Ava, and then drag her away after she begged him to stop them. Wendy encourages that Ava didn’t know it was him. Tripp wonders if part of her did. Tripp worries that maybe Ava hates him for leaving her in that place alone in a nightmare with Charlie. Wendy then hugs Tripp.

Sarah hugs Allie as she cries and tells her she’s so sorry. Johnny decides he needs some air and exits the hospital.

John brings Belle back to Marlena’s hospital room. Belle checks on Eric and they both admit they are not okay. Eric decides he will give Belle some alone time with Marlena. Eric says he loves her, hugs Belle and John, then exits the room. Belle sits at Marlena’s side and says she loves her too, as does everybody. Belle adds that they respect and admire her. Belle cries about being proud to be her daughter. Belle recalls when Marlena was in a coma and she had to fight to honor her wishes to not keep her on the ventilator, but then it was Hattie. Belle wishes it was Hattie now and that someone would tell her this is not her mom. Belle recalls when they were little and would play hide and seek. Belle cries about being a grown woman but feeling now like a scared little girl. Belle wishes this was a game where she could find her. Belle breaks down crying over Marlena. John tries to comfort her as Belle cries that she can’t lose her. Belle decides that she will let John say goodbye and she’ll be outside if he needs her. John responds that they are all going to need each other right now. They say they love each other as Belle then exits the room.

Johnny walks through the town square and finds Wendy with Tripp. Wendy asks how Marlena is. Johnny reveals that she just died. Wendy gets up and hugs him, saying she’s so sorry. Tripp adds that he’s sorry too but Johnny tells him to save his sorry as he just lost his grandmother. Wendy points out that Tripp also lost his stepmother. Tripp says he knows what he’s going through since Orpheus killed Kayla too. Johnny blames Tripp’s lunatic mother for killing his other grandmother, Susan. Tripp says he can’t defend what Ava did, but says she’s mentally ill. Johnny laughs that off as convenient. Johnny says Ava led him to believe she was a good person but she was just leading him on to get what she wanted and now that she’s going to pay for what she did, she’s suddenly Norma Bates. Tripp warns Johnny to watch it. Johnny tells Tripp that his mother is a homicidal, lunatic bitch. Tripp tries to hit him but Johnny blocks it and punches Tripp down. Wendy yells at Johnny. Johnny says he started it and storms off as Wendy checks on Tripp.

Belle comes from Marlena’s room and hugs Allie. Allie asks how John is. Belle responds that he’s with Marlena now, saying goodbye. Allie says she’s never seen anyone love anyone like John loved Marlena. Belle offers to call Sami. Allie asks her to do so since she knows Sami was going to try to be strong for her and she doesn’t want that for her right now. Belle says she will give Sami her love and walks away to make the call. Allie tells Chanel to go as she really needs to go find Will, so she’ll just see her later. Allie then walks away.

Will tells Sonny that he doesn’t want to talk about this right now. Sonny agrees to not until they know how Marlena is doing. Will brings up being apart from Sonny for that long. Sonny reminds him that he didn’t want to talk about it now, so he suggests they wait as now is not the time. Will says he loves him and they hug. Allie then enters the chapel and hugs Will as they break down crying.

Belle finds Eric at the hospital in tears. Belle mentions that she just left a message for Sami to call her back. Belle suggests they go to the chapel to say one more prayer. Eric tells Belle to go because God is not listening to him anymore. Eric then gets up and walks away.

John sits with Marlena and says this is so wrong as she was the strong one who could go on, while he’s not so sure about himself. John brings up when they first met and how he didn’t know who he was but Marlena saw the man he was and the man he could be again. John says their first kiss changed everything because it was the first time that he knew who he was. John talks about falling in love with her and trusting her. John declares that he will always loves her and kisses her. John says from their first kiss to their last, their love story begins. A montage of John and Marlena’s life together plays. John then tells Marlena that their story isn’t over yet and cries that one day they will be together again as he says he loves her.

Wendy helps Tripp up and asks if he’s alright. Tripp says he’s fine. Wendy knows Johnny was upset but argues that he had no right to say those things about Tripp’s mother. Tripp thanks Wendy for being there for him. Wendy says that’s what friends are for.

Johnny finds Chanel sitting in the park and joins her on the bench.

Belle joins Allie with Sonny and Will in the chapel. Belle tells Sonny that Marlena loved him like a son. Sonny says they were just talking about how Marlena was always on their side. Will suggests saying a prayer. Allie asks where Eric is.

Eric goes to the Brady Pub and starts drinking. He takes a shot and then orders another.

Sarah returns to Marlena’s hospital room as John exits. Sarah then turns out the lights and leaves the room. Marlena then sees the white light and her spirit leaves her body.

John returns to the hospital rooftop and says he knows Marlena will be in Heaven, looking out for all of them.

Marlena enters the gates of Heaven.

Her mother tells her she is there for work and to try to reunite with her. Dante gets home and is disappointed that he can’t enjoy alone time with Sam because he has to interview Heather Webber. Sam tells him she is going with him. Mason threatens Georgie and Ava walks in and interrupts Austin right before he attacks him. She recognizes Mason. Cameron sees Dex and Joss together and questions if that is why they broke up.

Cameron tries to leave but Joss asks him to stay so they can talk in her room. Dex tries to apologize but Cameron is angry and confronts them about the situation. He tries to leave but Joss stops him again. Carolyn asks Liz to sit and talk with her. Liz reluctantly agrees. Liz asks her why she stayed with her father. Dante questions why Sam wants to go with him. Sam tells him that she wants to talk to Esme to try to find her old nanny which could lead to finding her biological father. They agree to work together. Ava says she remembers Mason from the Quartermaine picnic and flashes back to Mason threatening Austin with a knife. Austin asks if she is suggesting Mason is the one that attacked her. Ava replies that she isn’t doing that yet. Sonny questions what Spencer is doing. Spencer tells him he’s going to make sure his father doesn’t ruin anyone else’s life. Nikolas tells Laura about the divorce agreement that gives Ava Spoon Island. Laura questions why Ava wants it, and Nik says it is out of spite, but she’s entitled to it because he cheated. They discuss Esme’s arraignment. Heather rescues Esme from the inmate who is threatening her. Esme thanks her and apologizes for being short with her before. Heather asks if they can be friends.

Liz reminds her mother about her father’s cheating. Her mother says she knows about all of the other women, but she loves him. Liz questions if her mother loves her father more than she loves her. Joss asks why he is there, and he tells her that he heard about Willow and wanted to make sure she was ok. Cameron is angry about finding her with Dex and Joss reminds them that they broke up and she can see who she wants to. Cameron asks if she waited to sleep with Dex until after they had broken up.

Ava tells Austin she was just trying to help and he says he is grateful but doesn’t want her in the middle. Austin tells her he is going to live his life the way he wants to, far away from the Gatlins. Joss admits to Cameron that she cheated on him and tries to explain. She tells him about being attacked by the Hook Killer. Sonny explains what actually goes into raising a child to Spencer and tells him to ask himself if he is ready. Carolyn apologizes to Liz and Liz again asks her why she stayed with Jeff. Carolyn says she did what she thought was best and goes to leave. Liz stops her. Nikolas tells Laura he is suing for full custody and asking for her support. Laura tells him she doesn’t think Esme is going to jail even if found guilty. Nik tells her he wants to keep Esme away from the baby completely. Laura tells him that doing that is a mistake. Heather wants to feel the baby kick but Esme asks her to wait until they know each other better. Esme is worried about going to prison, but Heather assures her that the police will soon realize she is not the Hook Killer.

Esme asks Heather if there is another suspect just as Dante and Sam show up and interrupt them. Dante asks to talk to Heather alone and they leave Sam to talk to Esme. Sam tells Esme she doesn’t think she is the Hook Killer and that she thinks there is someone connected to her out there. Laura tells Nik that Esme deserves the chance to be a mother and that she visited her in the hospital. She said she believes her amnesia is real. She tells Nik about Esme thinking Spencer is the baby’s father. Spencer tells Sonny he wants to save the baby from Nik. Dex shows up to talk to Sonny. Joss tells Cam about her attack and that Dex showed up and ran the Hook Killer off. Liz tells Carolyn she understands how someone can do something unforgivable in extreme circumstances. Carolyn asks Liz if she has done something unforgivable and Liz says she would not tell her if she had. Carolyn says she has to go but says she is staying at the Metro Court while she’s in town. Liz asks her how long she will be in there.

Cameron wants Joss to admit she lied to him about why they broke up. She tells him it wasn’t about Dex. She broke up with him because they had grown apart. She tells him she was planning on ending it before she slept with Dex but hadn’t found the right time. Ava and Austin discuss their families and childhoods. Dante questions what Heather wants with Esme. She tells him her plan to get information about the connection between Ryan and Esme. Sam asks Esme if she remembers anything about her nanny. Esme doesn’t. Sam tells her that the nanny mentioned her biological father being in New York. She asks Esme if she wants her to try to find him. Spencer acts superior to Dex and Sonny tells Dex to wait outside. He tells Spencer that he is proud of him for wanting to protect the baby. Spencer asks if he thinks he is making a mistake. Sonny tells him that if he does this it will be a fight with his father. Nikolas questions why Esme thinks Spencer is the father of the baby. Laura tells him she talked to Spencer. Nikolas thinks Esme is scheming. Laura says she thinks the amnesia is real and Nikolas says he hopes it stays that way. Laura asks him why but is interrupted by her phone ringing. She tells the caller that she is on her way.

Cameron wants to leave but Joss tells him that she has to ask him to not tell anyone about her and Dex. Spencer goes for a walk and Sonny calls Dex in. Ava and Austin wish each other luck and Mason returns to Austin’s office after Ava leaves. Dante gives Heather one week to get him information. Sam tells Esme she will find her father for no charge because the truth can help a lot of people. Heather overhears them talking about the nanny and asks about her. Esme tells her that the nanny might know who her father is. Liz tells Laura that her mother is in town to consult about a patient. Nikolas opens the door to Carolyn and thanks her for coming.

Victor: I’m here to talk to Kyle about Harrison, alright? He’s part of the next generation of Newmans.

Adam: Mm-hmm. I have no doubt that you’re already planning the kid’s future. Are you hoping he’ll stick to the program better than I did?

Victor: For your information, he is being given the same opportunities that you were.

Adam: [Chuckles] So, he’ll succeed where i failed. Is that it?

Victor: Son, why does everything have to be an argument between us?

Adam: Look, I know that you hate that I am here at Jabot…

Victor: Uh-huh.

Adam: …Working for Jack.

Victor: Right.

Adam: And Kyle feels the same way. He would love it more than anything if I wasn’t here. I know you also believe Jack only gave me this job to stick it to you.

Victor: You’re correct about all the above. But I’ve often told you — and don’t ever forget it — that you are a very talented businessman.

Adam: And yet here you are. You’re gathering intelligence. Are you hoping to hear that I’m crashing and burning?

Victor: Son, what the hell are you doing here selling lipstick and makeup, for heaven’s sake? What’s the matter with you?

Adam: What are you trying to do? Are you trying to strong-arm Victoria into giving me some rinky-dink position so I can be under your thumb at Newman? It’s not gonna happen, okay?

Sharon: I’m sure there are all kinds of fields that you could explore. I mean, for instance, take all those quick, precision moves that you learned, you know, in the military. Just give them a little tweak, and soon you could be a — a dance instructor.

Chance: [Laughs]

Sharon: No, really!

Chance: Nice. That was nice. Good job.

Sharon: Or you know how you can drop from the ceiling on a wire? Cirque du Soleil would hire you in a heartbeat. And I can just see it now. You’d be juggling a ping-pong ball and a sledgehammer and a chainsaw.

Chance: Wow. Hmm. Would I have to wear sequins?

Sharon: Well, yeah. I mean, otherwise no one in the back would be able to see you.

Chance: No, that’s where i draw the line. I can’t do it. I can’t do it.

Sharon: That’s where you draw the line?

Chance: Yeah, no sequins for me.

[Sighs] Thank you.

Sharon: For what?

Chance: Making me laugh, distracting me. You are remarkably good at getting me out of my head.

Sharon: Well, I’m glad that you feel comfortable enough being silly with me.

Chance: Mm, it’s easy. It feels natural.

[Cellphone pings] Sorry. It’s Chicago PD. It’s about Stark’s arrest. I need to follow up on this. I, um… I wish I didn’t have to leave, though.

Sharon: Well, go. Take care of business. I’ll be here thinking about all the new career paths you can consider.

Chance: I cannot wait to hear what you come up with. See you.

Connor: Hey. What took you so long?

Johnny: Math. I thought I’d never finish my homework. Just wait until you get to my grade. The word problems feel like some kind of punishment.

Connor: When I get to be ancient like you, maybe you can teach me how to do them. Unless you’ve forgotten by then. I know how hard it is to remember things when you get to be old — like you.

Chelsea: [Chuckling] Ouch! Why don’t you both go get something to drink? Dinner’s on the way.

*********†*****************

Johnny: Pizza!

Billy: The name’s dad.

Connor: Hi, Billy.

Johnny: Hey, dad.

Billy: Hey. How are you, guinea pigs? Because that’s what you are today, okay? This is Abby’s new pizza from Society, and she wants our honest opinion.

Connor: Cool.

Billy: Okay, well, let’s get it while it’s hot.

Johnny: Mom, are you staying for dinner?

Connor: Of course she is. Who says no to pizza?

Victoria: I guess I-I could stay and have a slice.

Johnny: Yes

Sharon: More coffee?

Chance: [Sighs] You caught me. I was, uh, light-years away.

Sharon: Yeah, I’m thinking about adding “soul searching” to the menu.

Chance: [Chuckles] Well, if you start charging for that, you’re gonna have to add a double-shot to my tab.

Sharon: In all of that searching, have you come to any conclusions?

Phyllis: Alrighty.

Jeremy: While you may have made my morning a bit more entertaining, I have some place more important to be.

Phyllis: Oh, with a woman who’s so terrified of you that she tried to get you to leave town because she was afraid you were gonna hurt her family?

Jeremy: Slight misunderstanding.

Phyllis: What do I have to say to you to get you to tell me what Diane is up to?

Jeremy: Don’t push it. I’m a better friend than an enemy. Trust me.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Oh, you didn’t come down for dinner? I thought you’d stepped out. I was here, but I was dealing with a para Uninvasive guests. Anyone I know, commissioner Hernandez and Detective Hunt. They were here before. Yeah. Looking for Kristen. Did they tell you the good news? They have an arrest warrant for your sister, but they can’t find her?

They were hoping I could help them out with that. And could you? No. But while they were here, Reeve got a call from Brady. The police should be closing in on Kristin, as we speak. You understand these rights does. I read them to you. This is ridiculous. I didn’t murder anyone, but you did withhold a life-saving treatment from two women who are now dead and Marlena is hanging by a threat.

I don’t know anything about a life-saving treatment. Kristin, you might as well give up the act because they know the truth. Oh God. What are you talking about? We have a recording of your confession. . Uhuh. You’re bluffing. Yeah. Is this gonna mark? Well, we can talk about all this down at the station. Let’s go take her.

Who off of me? What is this? A police state? Kristin, this is just you getting, what do you deserve?

Yeah, I, I’m hoping Brave has found Kristen by now, but I, I haven’t heard anything from him yet. Don’t, don’t, don’t thank me Uncle Steve. Look, it, it’s, it’s killing me that none of this is gonna bring Aunt Kayla back. You too. Yeah. I’ll, uh, I’ll, I’ll call you if I find out anything more,

Johnny? Hey. Hey. How’s your grandma? Uh, it was, uh, I was just about to check on her. Did you come to see Ellie? Yeah. I figured she could have used the moral support. It’s really bad, isn’t it? It’s really bad.

I can’t take you home, doc. Not in your condition. I don’t. I don’t wanna die. I’m not here. No, you, you don’t get enough. I don’t wanna talk like that. Ok. Don’t do that. We both, no, they’ve done everything they can. Nothing is working.

I just wanna be in my own bed.

The doctors are buying you time until Steve and the ISA can find that damn market. Good.

There’s no time. Now we both know that. Please, please, please get me outta here.

Like sands, through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

And I had Kristen cornered with this thing. If you would’ve stopped me, then she could have been knocked out on the floor before Rafe even got here. You’re serious. There are two dead women because of your sister, and Marlena might be next. So yeah, I’m. Kristen refused to admit to that she made a deal with Brady the first time got sick.

What’s so the deal? Well, she forced Brady to dump me and get back together with her, or else she was gonna let Marlena and Kate and Kayla all die. So Brady had no choice but to accept that deal, but then they all got sick again, and now she’s saying she has no idea where that damn orchid is. I wondered how she managed that reconciliation.

She’s a monster. That’s. She’s using her own child as a weapon to make Brady stay with her. All she does is cause misery and she doesn’t take any responsibility for any of it. Oh, that’s about to change. Why? What happened? Breaking news. Kristen Damer taken into police custody.

So Ray is gonna a restaurant, Kristen, as soon as he can track her down. And he wants you to testify against her. Yeah. Yeah. To, uh, verify the conversation she and I had when she confessed to everything. Oh, that was pretty slick of your Uncle Steve to put a bug in your place, but it kind of put you in a tough position.

No, no it doesn’t. Look, Kristin needs to be stopped. Her withholding of that cure is what led to Kate and Aunt Kayla’s death. And, and I’m. I am scared to death. My grandma might be next.

Johnny, you’ve been through this before.

Had enough time for me to take her back to Venice.

I’m not asking for Venice. I’m asking for a cross town. Honey, there wasn’t anything I could do for the zb.

Well, My odds aren’t much better than than hers were. So please, please, please,

perhaps you’ll settle for a compromise.

Molly, I made sure. What were you thinking?

I should go fine, Allie, right? Um, yeah. Last I knew she was in the chapel. Oh, it’s from her. She decided to leave the hospital. After all, she didn’t want the babysitter to put Henry to bed, but it’s nice to hug him right now. Well, uh, I guess I’ll head back. Uh, grandpa, is it grandma? No, no, no, no. She’s, uh, she’s the same.

Look, if you got a minute, I could really use your help. So I will keep you up to speed on Kristin if you keep me up to speed on Marlene. Okay. Thank you Bell and. , listen, if her condition changes at all, will you let me know anything at all? Okay. Love me.

Wheres mom? Hey, pumpkin. Um, We have to talk. Okay. Do you wanna, you wanna have a seat? Chad? Am I in trouble? No. No, you’re not in trouble, but mommy is okay. Mommy’s in a little bit of trouble. You see? She was gonna take you on a trip and she, she didn’t even ask me, and it’s not, that’s not good. Um, she’s done some bad things.

Some seriously bad things. And, and that’s, that’s why she couldn’t move. Well, she had to move outta the house, remember? Right. And, um, now it seems that she, she may have to go back to prison for a little while.

I know. Come here, come here, come here. It’s not your fault. Come here. It’s not your fault. It’s. Look, I didn’t want to hurt anyone. I didn’t wanna hurt Marlaina or the other women. I swear to you.

Look, I will admit I hid the orchid knowing that these women would need more doses of the serum, but I wasn’t gonna withhold it if they got sick. I swear to you, I never wanted those women dead.

Where’d you get that? I got it. That’s all you need to know. Well, I hate to tell you that that’s not me on that tape. Someone who sounds like me or some sort of deep fake, it won’t hold up as evidence. Yeah, nice try. Look, I didn’t want to hurt anyone. I didn’t wanna hurt Marna or the other. I swear to you.

Look, I will admit I hid the orchid knowing that these women would need more doses of the serum, but I wasn’t gonna withhold it if they got sick. I swear to you, I never wanted those women dead. Yeah, maybe not, but that’s what happened.

Damara agreed to testify that this conversation took place between the two of you. I demand to call my lawyer.

Let me see that. Describe me. A mugshot of her or something. I still don’t understand. What possessed you to let Kris move back in here and what can I say? She’s, she’s family. Hmm.

How about a game with Jess? I don’t wanna neglect my guest. No, it’s okay. I’m actually ready to go home. You sure? Yes. It’s been quiet a day and I’m pretty tired. You fellas, enjoy your game. I know my way out. Something tells me that I’m going to sleep so much better.

Something tells me she and Kristen don’t get along. You do know that I used to be a chess champion, right? Yes. You’ve told me quite frequently. . Well just want her to be up front.

EJ Dam. It’s your sister. I hear you’ve managed to get into a bit of trouble. Yeah. Now I need you to get me out of it How? How you come down to the police station and you bring your fancy law degree. I’m in the middle of something. Don’t jerk me around. Dj. You get your ass down here and you make this all go away.

Otherwise, my next call is to. And I am sure he would love to hear how his own brother sold him out for control of Tamara Enterprises.

Hey, where did you go? It’s going. A few arrangements. I know. Luckily I ran into a guy that’s gonna set everything up for me so I can stay right here with you.

The compromise, what is it? Come on, God. Will you love me? Surprise you for just one? Yeah. Do I get a hint? Okay. I’ll give you this much.

You’re about to go. On the adventure of a lifetime.

What is that thing? Uh, this thing is a Bluetooth projector.

I wanted to be nice for your grandma. Those good to be useful. Yeah. I still can’t believe you talked that coffee shop into giving you their window display . Oh, they were about to close anyway, and I told the counter guy who it was for four. Turns out your grandma’s a regular customer. Thanks. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, it, uh, takes my mind off my own problems Soon. I thought you said your English lawyer didn’t think Scotland Yard was gonna press charges. Well, that hasn’t stopped Sloan Peterson from suing Mama and Me and Civil Court

Chanel. I’m so sorry. I, I, I wish I would’ve known that. It’s okay. There’s nothing you can do. Yeah, but I still want to know what’s going on in your life. Just cuz we’re not married anymore doesn’t, I mean, I don’t still care about you, but what about Wendy? Is she okay with us being friends? Why would you ask about her?

Johnny, come on. You two are kind of the thing now. Right.

I don’t want mommy go back to prison. I know, baby. I’m sorry. But you look, we can, we can visit her. You’ll be able to see her. It won’t be the same. We won’t get to do stuff together. She won’t get to read to me at night. She does all the voices and she’s funny. I know, I know. She’s, I know she’s funny sweetie, but, and I’ve heard you laughing together and that’s.

You two are supposed to get married, but you wouldn’t and now mommy’s gone. Honey, we will get through it together, okay? You and me. We did before. We’ll be okay. I don’t want you, I want my mommy.

Leave me alone.

There you go. Turkey on rye with lettuce and mayo and cranberry. You remember the cranberry sauce kind of hard. Forget cranberry. What do I owe you? . Oh me. No, this is on me for a job well done. Well, if I would’ve known that I would’ve ordered dessert and apple pie. Carolyn Brady’s secret recipe. Okay. Okay.

Now I feel guilty. I mean, it was Steve Johnson that got Kristen on tape. No, no, no. You were the one who suggested that Johnny testified the tape is accurate. I mean, it’s, it’s a shot in the dark. I’m just hoping it’s enough to get the judge to. Yeah, well hopefully the DA can say that Steve didn’t get a warrant because he was so worried about his wife.

From what I hear, the Deras are experts at Eluting Justice, you heard. Right, and I will bet Kristen’s in there right now talking to EJ about how to do exactly that.

How soon can you get. I’d love to help you, Kristen, but the c e O of Dara Enterprises can’t get involved in a murder investigation. It’s just not a good look for the company. Don’t pull this crap with me, ej. Now you get me out of here tonight, or I will blow you out of the water. My decision is final. Fine.

Then I am giving s Stephan a call. Oh, there’s no need to.

S Stephan is right here with me and you are on speakerphone. Our sister has something she would like to tell you.

I hope we have another extension port. We do, we do.

You never answered my question. Uh, what? You and Wendy. Oh. Um, yeah. There’s really not much to say. I mean, technically we’re not even dating so. Oh, I, I, I guess I got the wrong idea because you two are always together. Ugh. We wanted people to think we were a couple. It was like our cover for what? Uber investigating.

Wendy’s brother le in. He’s uh, my dad’s right hand man at Damara. And what did you think he was? . Well, Lee was engaged to Gabby Hernandez, and we thought he might be doing something shady to keep Gabby from getting back with her husband. Who th she thought was dead? Yeah. My, uh, my Uncle Stephan. Oh, and, and it all came out at the wedding, right?

About the brainwashing? Yes. Oh.

Wendy’s brother. Sure. Sounds like a creep. Yeah, he is. That’s what I think. Anyway.

So, uh, well, now that your uncle and Gabby know the truth and the caper is over, where does that leave you and Wendy? Uh, I guess we, I dunno, we, we decided we didn’t want to. Seeing each other. I really like her. Oh, that’s great. I’m really happy for you.

Yeah. Yeah. We probably would’ve, uh, gone on our first date by now if it wasn’t for grandma getting sick. Hey, be careful on that chair, by the way. It’s not exactly stable. Woo.

You okay?

Yeah.

Krista’s in custody is all thanks to you Steve. We’re gonna make sure she pays for what she. Yeah, don’t worry. Just try to get some rest. Okay.

You okay? Yeah. It’s just, and Steve, he just, he sounds like a light just went out inside of.

Yo, you and Kayla fell in love when they were really young. I don’t know if he’s ever gonna recover from losing her, and it didn’t have to happen. I mean, how could one woman cause so much pain and suffering for so many people? And how does she live with herself?

Happy to see you, but what brings you by. Well, I heard that Kristen was just arrested. I was driving home and I I couldn’t stop thinking about you and Rachel. How are you doing? It’s been a day. Came home to find, uh, Kristen, preparing herself to take Rachel away with her. What? Thank God you stopped her.

Yeah, it was really close too. . Well, did Kristen know she was being arrested? Is that why she was running? No. She realized that she didn’t have any more leverage over me and that I would probably try to prevent her from seeing Rachel. She was very surprised to see Jayden and Rafe showing up here. Oh my goodness.

Was Rachel here when they took her? She was in, she was in the bedroom.

I don’t know how to, how do you, how do you tell your little girl that your mother has done such terrible things that she may be in prison for the rest of her life? How do you say that to your little girl? I dunno, but I’m sure you handled it well. I’ll enough. I can’t believe this is happening to my little girl, pj, this is ridiculous.

Take me off the speaker this instant. But you were so eager to tell S Stephan everything. This is your chance. Tell me what, I don’t know what you’re doing, ej, but it’s not, oh, I’ve grown tired of your games, darling. You wanted Stefan to know the truth. Okay. Why don’t you two quit screwing around and tell me what the hell’s going on?

It’s nothing. EJ is just acting like a child as usual. Fine. I’ll do it myself. What our wants to tell you is that I knew that Lee had RO brainwash you and outta self-interest. I’ve decided to keep that to myself.

You are an idiot, ej, and aren’t you fortunate that I won’t be serving as your attorney? And since you have to find someone else so quickly, why don’t we, don’t you dare hang up on me.

You knew he had me brainwashed only after the fact. Kristen was in on it from the very beginning. And you knew about it for months? Yes.

How’d you find out after you and I managed to pull off our coup? The board meeting, Lee took me to the site and told me everything. I was appalled, of course, but then Lee pointed out that if I decided to set you straight, you might remember your love for Gabby inside with her against me. Mm. So this was a business deal.

For me, yes. It was personal for Lee. And what did Kristen get out of it isn’t that obvious. You kept Chloe occupied and unavailable to Brady.

You knew what Lee did and you still made him your number two at Demira, and then you told me that way. Questioned my mental capacity, which was a lie of course,

but I had just assumed control of the company and I didn’t want that taken away from me.

I can’t believe it. If it makes you feel any better. Lee and Christian have been holding what I did over my head this entire time. But it is over now. I am glad, even if it means dealing with the consequences of my actions.

Okay. Yeah.

Everything ready to. Uh, one second.

Oh, that’s lovely. You too. Did an amazing job in such a short period of time. I won’t forgive it. Uh, this is for the projector. It’s all loaded. What do you do? You just drive around with all this equipment in your car, ? Uh, well, you know, you just, you never know when stuff like this might come in handy. Uh, I, I got this from the diner down the street.

Gus the Counterman, he says he’s praying for you. Bless his heart. Bless. Here’s two.

Anything for you, grandma. I love you. I love you too.

I know this isn’t the same as taking you honey,

but.

Thought that if something might happen, I can get you downstairs in a hurry. Oh my love. Oh my darling.

I’m so sorry. You have to deal with all of this when Marlene is sick. Huh? See, it’s, it’s, it’s all been kind of a perfect storm. Hurricane. Kristen, did you know that when you left the hospital we almost lost Mar? almost lost her. I mean, she, she, it was, it was really touch and go and the doctors were able to, to bring her back.

How is she now? I don’t know how much longer she can hold enlo. All the doctors can do is treat the symptoms. They need a cure for her. Are you sure that Kristen isn’t lying about the orchid being stolen? I, I don’t. All I know is, is the orchid was not where she said it was supposed to be. That’s all I. Wow.

And I feel, you know, I feel powerless to do anything, and I feel a hell of a lot of guilt about what I was supposed to save Marlena’s life by playing Kristin’s game. That was the deal. I should’t trusted her. I mean, I, I should’ve, I should have done something more, anything more. Hey, and I didn’t, your your back was against the wall.

None of this is your fault. No, that’s what my father says, but I’m not, Because look what I mean. Look, look what happened. I hurt you. I fixed it. So, so Kristen could control my daughter, John Marla had been forced to live here without maniac. I mean, it was all for nothing. Do you understand? If my dad loses Marlena, I , he’s not gonna be able to go on.

And I honestly, I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to live with myself if that happens. I’m sorry.

You get away from my daddy.

She one.

She one.

Delicious it.

Would you like some more? No. No? Okay.

Oh, what do you have? No, I had Johnny download some family pictures to my cloud. I thought it might be a nice idea just to.

Reminisce a little.

Oh.

I love that picture. No,

I love that one too.

You still laughing your eyes.

And yours,

John, how did this go so fast? I know. I just wanna do this all over again, doc. I know. I do, I do all over again.

Thank you again for, uh, helping me get things set up on the roof. Wouldn’t have made John’s deadline without you. That was so sweet. What John did I see where you get your romantic streak? Yeah. John and grandmother, their whole life’s been one big long, epic romance. Yeah. They, they had their breakups, but they never lasted.

You know, they, they always figured out that, We couldn’t live without each other. And now they might have to. Well, Dr. Evans, she seemed like she was hanging in there. Yeah. Yeah. That, that was for John’s benefit, you know, thanks to me. She, ah, she looked so frail and she was smiling, but yeah, I could see it in her eyes.

She knows what’s. Man. Man, you know, all my life, you know, as much as my parents would drive me crazy, I could always go to her.

God, I’m just so not ready to lose her.

Rachel, you will not talk to her that way. Okay? Chloe has done nothing wrong. Mommy said she added to move out because her, listen to me. Mommy says a lot of things that are not, You told my mommy, didn’t you? And that’s why the police came. Honey. The police came because mommy broke the law. Okay? I would never do anything to hurt you, Rachel.

You ruined everything. I hate you. Rachel. Rachel, that’s it. You need a timeout. I want you to go to your bedroom right now. I want you to cool off. And I will be in there in a minute. You seem mad. I’m not gonna be mad when we talk, sweetie. But you and I, we will get some things straight. I love you. Go.

So you hired an. Nope, I had a bit of a snag. We can get you a public defender, , some loser who went to a law school. He founded the back of a matchbook cover. No, thank you. We might wanna rethink that because I’m gonna want a statement from you before I book you and take you down to the holding cells. And while you’re at it, you might wanna tell us what Lian did as step in Damira.

Are you offering to cut me a deal if I roll on shit? It’s possible. Wow. I want murder charges off the table and total immunity.

Tell us what you know about Shannon and we’ll,

I remember when you first came to me, pitched me the idea of us joining forces to hold onto the company. And I thought to myself, finally, finally, I have myself an ally in this pit of vipers.

Finally, I have a sibling that I can connect with, and I thought we made a great. And now you tell me as soon as you got what you wanted, you stabbed me in the back. Kind of makes you king of the wipers. When we joined forces, I had no intention of doing that, but then Gabby made a run for control of the company and I simply could not allow that to happen.

I know that’s a poor excuse for what I did, but no, it. It is, and we both know this just wasn’t about the company. No, no, no. This was about you holding onto total control. You owed me and you hated it. Yes.

I am sincerely sorry for what I did, and you have every right to be furious.

No, I’m furious. All right.

In fact,

the only reason I haven’t knocked your ass out by now is that it wasn’t your idea to rewire my. That part is true, right? That you found out after the fact. Yes. So in your mind, you were doing what was best for the company?

Sure. He would’ve improved.

So

does this mean

we could work this up?

You mean can I forgive you? I suppose,

I think we can do that under one condition.

I am willing to put what you did behind me and move on if, if we go back to our original deal. Co CEOs

LE in has become a liability. I’ll terminate him in the morning and then you and I will run the Mirror Enterprises together. And we have a deal.

I’ll contact the legal department and get the ball rolling.

Thank you for being so. Reasonable about this, they still don’t trust you. Mm. And I don’t think you trust me, but I would imagine the old man would be proud of what we’re doing.

I agree. Now, if you excuse me, I’m rabbis.

I was being front with you when I told you you’re playing against a champion. I’m gonna get you ej. You’re not gonna see me coming.

I am sorry about Rachel. I really have my work cut out with her while she’s made it very clear. She wants me nowhere near you. Chloe. Chloe, that is not her decision, and I’ll make that very clear to her. Her feelings are her feelings. Brady, you know what? Maybe this is the universe saying that you and I shouldn’t be together.

I am not writing anything down until I consult an attorney. Well, that’s your choice, but if I were you, I would do whatever I could to get a lighter sentence is make no mistake. We’ve already got you for two martyrs. Unless Marlena gets a miracle, it’s gonna be three.

Thank you. Ah, try not to cry. Always makes my throat dry. Maybe you should just cry. This is really sad. No, it’s okay.

Having you to talk to has really helped. I’m glad I ran in you today. Me too. And Johnny, I want you to know, and no matter what went on between us, I will always be your friend. Thank you. Really. And you is a friend right now.

We have had a lifetime of wonderful memories, haven’t we got?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

So you think step’s telling the truth, he doesn’t know where his own sister is? Well, his own sister had him brainwashed to smooth out her love life. So my guess is if he knew where she was, he would draw us a map and Chloe would drive us there. So we go back to the beginning. Where the hell is she? I guess this is the part where I’m supposed to think like Kristen Damira.

I’d rather die.

So what do you say, kiddo? You wanna skip down with mommy? Hmm. Hit the throat. Why can’t daddy come with us? Um, do you know how you and Nora Jane sometimes get mad at each other and you don’t wanna play? But you’re still friends. You just need a little timeout. She’s my friend, not my husband. I know that. Um, but the same principles apply.

Daddy and I need a little timeout, so you’re gonna have to choose who you wanna be with. Leave for your daddy.

What is it? Grandma Code blue.

Dam it. She has fluid in her lungs. Let’s sit her up for a Thor and. Is prepper. What are you doing? Eric? I need you to get out of here. I’m leaving and please get him out. I’m leaving. I love you, mom.

Help me.

Like sand through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

Hey, I got here as fast as I could. How’s.

It’s not good.

I’m sorry.

What’s happening? You can’t be in here, John. Don’t tell me that. Just tell me that she’s gonna make it. I am doing everything I can. She’s in paddles. Clear

honey, listen, I’m, I’m sorry you don’t have much time. You need to make up your mind. We’ll, we’ll come back. It’s just a timeout, right? Of course we will. And daddy’s okay with it? Of course he is. And then YouTube will stop fighting and be happy. Yes, promise. Promise.

I’ll go. Okay, . All right. And I’m gonna make you another promise. I’m gonna do everything to make you so happy. You know that I love you. Well then I can stay, sweetheart. I know Mommy. Didn’t you say we have to hurry? Yes, that is right. Sit the road, Jack.

Oh, leaving so soon

you.

Great job,

John. I’m here. I’m, I’m right here. I’m right here. I’m right here. You’re okay. You just gave us a little bit of a scare, but you pulled right through and now you’re gonna beat. You cannot just fine, just fine.

I knew I shouldn’t have stayed in Johanna’s Break this long. Don’t blame yourself. Claire needed you. No, I’m just, I’m scared because you know, if anything happens to mom, Claire, Claire loves her so much. Do you know that mom emails her every single day? Say, I’m not surprised. I don’t know that she could have relapsed.

I would’ve insisted that Claire come home for the holidays. Now, if we known that she would’ve relapsed, we would’ve done all sorts of things.

Claire missed mom’s last Christmas. Hey. Hey, we don’t know that. Don’t give up yet. Johnny’s in there with Sarah right now. She’s doing all she can do unless anyone murdered Kristen yet, because if not, I volunteer. I think my dad and Steve are in line just ahead of you. Yeah, well, there’s two women. And mom is in there fighting for her life and all for what?

Because Kristen wants to get her claws back into Brady.

I remember when I was little, everyone used to make fun of great grandma Caroline because she was always making a Venus and she, she would say, you can laugh all you want, but I have enough faith for the whole. . She did. She did. Yeah. Yeah. She was always so good at making Bella, and I feel like part of her family, you know, when I was taking my first driver’s test, she gave me one of those, um, them.

Oh God. You wear it around your neck? What is that? Oh yeah. Um, a scapular. Scap. Yeah. Yeah. And she said, Brady, it’s not magic. But it’s just a way for you to tell God that, uh, you need a little help.

Oh, Allie, I need a little help right now. Yeah, me too. I could use some of her faith right now. Cause mine’s, mine’s a little shaky.

Hey, we have to remember that she. Didn’t beat the devil up pretty bad, right? So anyone can do it and get through this. She can.

I’m just gonna turn it off.

It’s ra. Oh, you better take that on. I’ll, I’ll go check on grandma. Yeah.

What’s. Hey. Sorry to bother you. How’s Marlena? She’s not great. Uh, I’m sorry. Look, I’m calling because, um, I need to know if you’ve heard from Kristen. No, no, no. Last, last thing I heard she was hold up at the Damaris. Yeah, we were just there. No sign of her. Why are you looking for her? Because I have a warrant for her arrest.

Hi. Oh. Oh, don’t you love? Beautiful. Oh, and your hair smells like sunshine. You always say that. Well, it always does. I must say . I’m rather taking aback to see the two of you together. Oh, you’re taking aback when a mom brings her child to the park. Not a mom. You honey. Could I speak with your mom for a little?

Whatever. hasn’t skipped your mind that Brady has sole custody of Rachel and he wouldn’t want her to arrange mother anywhere near her. Just kidding. Eddie J. Especially alone with her, she’s my daughter and I have every right to see her. Not legally. Mommy, didn’t you say we have to. Ah, yes, that is right, honey

Oh. Always fun to chat with you. Ej. Wait a minute, where are you going now, mommy of this Mommy, because mommy and daddy, time out.

I’m so glad you made it. Yeah. Well, Shawn asked Victor to send the Titan jet. I’m sure he’ll be cranky as hell when I try to thank him for it, but it was very sweet nonetheless. Well, hi. Hey. Be oh. Thank God you’re here. Yeah, cool. I’s gonna be, um, really happy to see you. Yeah. I only wish I could have gotten here sooner.

Um, so I ran into Sarah outside of grandma’s room and she said that, um, while her condition is stable, um, the care that she’s receiving at this point is, uh, palliative. You mean like hospice? Um, not yet. And they’re monitoring her symptoms, but, uh, I think it’s clear that at this point her only chance of surviving is the second dose of the anode.

Right. Meaning. Meaning she doesn’t have very much time left.

You’re getting worse.

Okay. Just, just save your strength, honey. I know not much time. We have people turning over every rock on this planet To find that organ, all you have to do is hang in there a little while longer for us. Okay, that’s good, girl. Hi.

For as long as I’ve known you, you have never given up, and I’m not gonna let you start now.

Steve Bug the Damara Mansion. Yeah, I heard the tape. Uh, Kristen was pretty broken up about it, said she really didn’t want anyone to die. Yeah. But two people did. Two people did and now Marlena’s hanging on for dear life because of her. I’m sorry. You don’t need this right now. No, we’re great. This is exactly what I need right now.

Listen, the tape did, did she say that she blackmailed me? Did she say that she had the damned orchid? Yes. Did she also say that she told me she would let the three women die if I didn’t knuckle under Brady. We have got her. It’s not just the tape. What? The tape itself. It might actually be tricky to admit into evidence.

What are you telling me? That she’s gonna get away with this again? No. No, because I have spoken with Johnny and he’s gonna corroborate their entire conversation. She, hold on. She talked to Johnny. Yes. Yes. I told you that Kristen was broken up about this thing. She admitted the entire thing to Marlene’s grandson.

And because of Johnny, that’s how you got the warrant. Yes, that’s right. I mean, obviously it’s not gonna do anything to bring back Kate or Kayla or help Marlena, but. At least she’s gonna have to answer for what she’s done and then pay. Listen, if you hear from her, I need you to call me. Don’t do anything on your own.

I mean it. I get it. Good.

Um, how’s Allie

Ray roll? Just kind of like zombies right now. Yeah, I’m bad. Hey, tell her that. Yeah, I’ll tell her that you love her. She, she knows that already. Okay.

How is she, how’s Molina? How’d she do? They were able to stabilize her, but it’s still not good. Um, what did.

Leah sends his love. Mm-hmm. . Yeah. Well, Beth stepped out ever, but that can’t be why he called you. Well, he, uh, he was looking for Kristen to have a warrant for her arrest. Yes.

You and mommy are leaving Salem. They’re going on an adventure. We’re on the lamb. Huh? You know, sweetie, I need to talk to your Uncle EJ for just do, do you mind going over there and playing on the jungle Gym? Don’t you just talk? Yes. Uh, I know we did, but um, it’s important and I promise it’s only gonna take a.

It’s not going, whatever. What the hell do you think you’re doing? I’m taking my daughter on a trip. I’ll tell you all. What are you doing? What do you think I’m doing? I’m calling Brady. Nope.

How’d you know it was me? I’m your mom. Best one ever go, baby. I’m so sorry I wasn’t here. No, no, no, no, no, no. You’re here now baby girl. That’s all that matters.

Step. Leave you too alone for a second.

How’s Claire? Oh, she’s good. She’s okay. She, uh, she sends her love, she knows about, uh, Kayla and Kate, so son and I thought it would be best if she stayed in Johannesburg in case she needs some extra therapy sessions. That’s a good idea. And s his love too. But he wanted to stay with her. Just don’t, uh, we don’t want her to have any setbacks.

Tell her I love her always. Well, you can tell her yourself next time she visits, or who knows, maybe you and I can fly over in a few months and surprise her.

That would be wonderful.

Oh, oh baby. Come here. Come here. Oh, I’ve got you. I’ve got you.

Okay. So Uncle Steve planted a. At the Jams and got a recording of Kristen, telling Johnny everything. Mm-hmm. . I’m surprised he went all that trouble and just didn’t kill her on the spot with his bare of hands. Well, I hope it was worth it. What do you mean? Look, I want Kristen to pay as much as anyone else, and obviously I am no lawyer, but Chanel and I have been binging Law and Order and.

If, if Kristen didn’t know that she was being recorded, there’s a possibility she can get that recording thrown out as evidence. Yes. That is why Rafe made sure that Johnny was willing to corroborate it and he agreed He did. Hmm. Good for him. Wow. So I guess Kristen finally went too far. Yeah. Now all we have to do is find the.

It’s up. Sorry.

Thanks. I’ll keep you posted. I’ve been going over Kristen DER’s case file. Oh, Warren Peace would’ve been shorter. Do you think there might be a moving department? One that tipped her off about the morning. I think there’s been a demira all in Salem PD since time I memorial, so she’s probably going through her mask, wardrobe and planning another escape.

Yeah, the woman’s not a flight risk. She’s a flight certainty, but before we go trying to rip masks off at Salem International Airport, I think we should pay a visit to the one person that Kristen might actually lean on for help.

Are you still playing? Keep. Ah, honey, I thought I told you to go play in the jungle gym. I’m tired of it. I wanna go. Ah, my little girl’s not very patient. Can I say goodbye to Daddy first? Of course you can. That’s why I was just calling him. But I, I was telling your uncle EJ not to. Daddy is very busy because grandma’s sick.

And whose fault is that? God, you’re really getting on my nurse. Um, honey, we’re gonna call daddy from the road. You know, why don’t you say goodbye to Uncle ej? Bye, lij. I’m not gonna let you get away with this. Kristin, it’s kidnapping. Oh my God. Please. Like you didn’t do the same with Sammy. When the mood struck and I saw what it did to my.

I am not gonna let you do that to Rachel. I’m calling Brady. I’m warning you. You call Brady and I will tell s Stephan that you stood by and watched Lee put him through, oh, let’s just say a version therapy, and how do you think Brother Stephan is going to react to that?

Keep steering at that desk. Thank you. I’m just walk. What is happening here? Hey, you know, why don’t she let me take you home? No, just shower. Get some some. We get some rest and I’ll be here. I said no. The only reason I’m not in that room right now is because Bell is in there with her mother, so there’s no way I can rest.

There’s no way that I can, I can do anything except stay close to my wife.

When I was a little girl, Ugh. I love this book so much. It took you forever to read it to me, but you did remember every time you would say the end, I would say again, and you would start at the beginning, the very next night,

and you would read to me until I fell asleep. Just

just made me know how much you love me.

You have been the best mom anyone’s ever had,

so I am gonna do for you what you did for me, and I am gonna start the beginning.

Okay.

When Mary Lennox was sent to miss a white manor to live with her uncle, everyone said she was the most disagreeable looking child ever seen. I wonder which of Stephan’s parents he’ll channel when he’s exacting revenge on you. Father when you least expected or maybe tilt. Or bury you alive. You’ve made your point, so are free to go.

If your conscience won’t stop you, Neith will lie. You’re smart, man. Mommy, we going out. Yes, honey, we can . Bye. I’m again, . Oh. I’m going to miss you.

Don’t worry. It’s just a time out. We won’t be gone forever. Well, bye aj.

So, do the police have any idea where Kristen might be? Doesn’t sound like it. I’m worried that if Kristen knows she has a warrant out for her arrest, she’s gonna try to come and say goodbye to Rachel. Where’s, where’s Rachel now? Her friend Nora Jane’s mom picked her up from school. She knew that I would be here, so she offered to.

Um, does Kristen know that? No, but it would, it wouldn’t be hard for her to figure that out though. I’m, I’m gonna give Leslie a call and just give her a heads up.

Leslie. Hi. It’s, it’s Brady. Listen, she’s, she’s stable. Thank you for, for asking. Appreciate that. Listen, um, There’s a possibility that Kristen may be on her way over there, uh, to, to come pick up Rachel, or listen, under no circumstances. She, what do you mean? Kristen picked her up from school. Oh my God. Hey, I, I had no idea.

Okay. Leslie. Leslie, I, I have to go. I have to go. I’m gonna kill her. I’m gonna kill her.

And across the lawn came the master of Missile White, and he looked as many of them had never seen him, and by his side with his head up in the air and his eyes full of laughter, walked as strongly and steadily as any boy in New Yorkshire MasterCard.

Oh God, that ending gets me every time.

Well, we did it. I read the whole book just like you used to do when I was a little girl.

Mommy, you have to get better.

Come back to me the way calling it to his father, please,

I can’t lose you.

What’s wrong? He’s Kristen. She took Rachel.

Look, my son’s grandmother is dying. If I had that orchid, I would, this isn’t about the orchid. Sick do come in.

So what now? We have a warrant for your sister’s arrest. And what does that have to do with, can you tell us where is she? I don’t know.

Freddie, do you know where she might have gone, where she might be going? If there’s a warrant now for her arrest? My guess is away far, far away. So she knows about the warrant. I have no idea what she does or does not know. Now, if you excuse me, I’m very worried about my son. Well, you should be worried about your niece too.

That was Brady. Apparently Kristen is kidnapped. Rachel.

Okay, here we go. Honestly, goodbye to Grandma Marena and grandpa jumping. You know what? We’ll call them later, but we have to leave right now.

You’re going somewhere.

I always thought it interesting that even though Kristen was adopted, she is so like you

inventive to, Hey Morrow.

And just as fanatical about parenthood as you were,

but I don’t think you played quite enough chess with her. You were always able to see the move after the move, after the next move. I think Kristen is lost if she ever. Her ability to think things through to mix metaphors. She’s badly overplayed her hand and wildly underestimated her opponent.

As dim as Brady is is as as he is.

He’s Kristin’s match in his devotion to Rachel.

I really think that this time, this time she’s going down.

Daddy. Hi Mommy. Mommy said I couldn’t say goodbye to you. Really? Did she? Uh, where were you, uh, where were you going? On a trip for a time out. Really? Hmm. You, Dan now? No. Sweet. I’ve, I’ve been, I’ve been so worried about Grandma that I haven’t had a lot of time to pay attention to what Mommy’s been up to or planning, but since grandma is still in the hospital, I, I don’t think it’s a really good time for you to go anywhere, you know?

So, um, mommy and I definitely need a timeout. So why don’t you go back into your room, take your backpack with you, and you could draw Grandma a really pretty. Because, um, mommy and daddy really do need to talk. Did I do something wrong? No. No, baby. You did not. No, sweetheart, you didn’t. Daddy and I just, we got our wires crossed.

That’s all. I don’t think I ever wanna be a grownup.

Our wires crossed, I think. You would’ve told me that you were int gonna kidnap our daughter. I would’ve remembered that. Let me ask you something to you for one split second. When you’re thinking of pulling off crap like this to you, uh, you ever think about her? Did you give some thought about what it would be like for her to be on the run with a sociopath?

She’s my daughter Brady. And you are gonna take her from me? No, I tried to protect her. Her grandmother’s going to die and it’s going to be your fault. No. Yes, no. And you, you’re gonna have to live the rest of your life knowing that you’re gonna have to trust that. I am not gonna tell Rachel that. You wouldn’t, you wouldn’t.

No, I, you’re right. I wouldn’t. You know why wouldn’t, cuz I’m unlike you. I think about her, I think about her feelings. I think about her happiness. I think about how it would really affect her if she really knew what her mother did and who her mother really. And let me tell you something, Kristin, lately when you pull this kind of crap, I am, I’ve been getting really upset lately.

Like I just might lose control and say anything. So I want you from now on to be very, very careful about pissing me off. Don’t you think that you have the upper hand for one second because you don’t. And this little game, it is over. It’s done. Rafe, my daughter is in the bedroom. Christine Neira, you’re under arrest for that murder.

Kate Brady, Dr. Kayla Johnson. In the attempted murder of Dr. Marlena Evans, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have right to an attorney. If you can’t afford one, one will be provided for you.

Oh, is Brady. He has Rachel. Thank God. And Kristen’s been arrested. Good. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bitch. I don’t know if I should be here. Eric. I am just, I, I just feel so much hate in my heart from that one moment. I don’t. Angers are righteous. It’s a hell of a lot more than anger. Horrible, worthless woman is still out there and Kate and Kayla and grandma.

You know what? I keep thinking about Christmas. You know when we thought we were gonna lose grandma, but we didn’t. It’s with his help. Our prayers were stronger than the devil.

Okay, y’all pray with me.

You’re Almighty God. We come together here today and we, we pray for our mother, our grandmother, for strength. The doctors have said they have done all they can do. I ask you to please help her. We put all our prayer. In your hands.

In the name of the Father, A son in the Holy Spirit. Oh man,

sweetheart.

Kids are in the, I want me to call him,

was reading to me. I guess I fell asleep. Oh, that’s good. You can go back to sleep. It’s good for you.

What?

What do you want, sweetheart?

I want to go home.

Take me.

Oh, you didn’t come down for dinner? I thought you’d stepped out. I was here, but I was dealing with a pair of uninvited guests. Anyone I know, commissioner Hernandez and Detective Hunt. Again, they were here before. Yeah. Looking for Kristen. , did they tell you the good news? They have an arrest warrant for your sister, but they can’t find her?

They were hoping I could help them out with that. And could you?

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

In Sally’s suite, she comes out of the bathroom in her robe and slippers, looking pale and tired. Chloe comes by to bring her some morning sickness remedies that she took when she was pregnant with each of her children. Sally is determined to pull herself together for their pitch to Jill that day.

Nick shows up to wish Sally and Chloe good luck on their presentation, and notices that Sally looks sick again and she’s in her robe. Chloe tries several times, saying different things, to get Nick to leave, but nothing Chloe says works.  After Chloe herself leaves, Nick and Sally talk and he wonders aloud if there’s more to having a stomach bug than she’s mentioned. He tells her that he is getting the impression she has morning sickness. Sally tells him that he’s right and admits that she’s pregnant. She adds that she didn’t want to tell him until she was sure.

Sally mentions that she feels too overwhelmed to really think about the situation, and she asks Nick to “be in denial” with her for now. Nick assures her that they will figure this out and hugs her.

At the Abbott house, Jack and Diane tell Summer and Kyle about how they pulled off their plan, and successfully framed Jeremy for stealing Nikki’s necklace. Kyle still appears uneasy and Summer expresses concerns about how the plan involved breaking the law. Jack says Diane needed protection and she adds that things can all go back to normal. Later on, after Kyle and Summer have left, Jack and Diane kiss passionately, which results in them being up in bed, making love.

At Crimson Lights, Chance is deep in thought when Sharon comes out of he kitchen and spots him. She asks what’s going on so he explains a little about Stark case and lets her know that he has concerns about it.  For one thing, Chance says that Jeremy has been arrested in the past for money larceny and money laundering, not burglary.  Sharon suggests that Jeremy seems to have changed his MO.  Chance also comments on how easily the case fell into place and how only one piece of jewelry was taken. Sharon wonders about this also, because Jeremy could have grabbed a lot more.

Chance tells Sharon that during the entire drive back to Chicago, Jeremy was proclaming his innocence and there was something in Jeremy’s voice that sounded bitter as he complained about Diane and Jack framing him. Although the Chicago PD thinks it’s a solid arrest, Chance is not sure how solid the case against Jeremy really is. He says says that he doesn’t like how all how everything fell into place that he doesn’t like that only one piece of jewelry was taken.

Chance wonders if he should he dismiss his concerns and just walk away. He mentions that by even thinking of these things, he starts losing respect for himself and for the job.  Chance tells Sharon that during the entire drive to Chicago, Jeremy was ranting about how he was innocent and that Jack and Diane set him up. Chance notes that there was bitterness in Jeremy’s voice, on top of which the whole case has been solved.

Sharon asks if he were to consider changing things up, what would he think about doing. Chance replies that he has no idea because his whole life has been in  public service – soldier, federal agent, and detective. He tells her that he has never been outside that arena and he;s not sure what that would look like.

Seeing how discouraged Chance is, Sharon suggests that there’s all kinds of fields he could explore. For instance, he could take all the quick precision moves he learned in the military, tweak them and become a dance instructor. She acts out how it would look going  from precision movements into dance.

Then she mentions that he could drop from the ceiling on a wire and Cirque de Soleil would hire him in a heartbeat. She suggests that he could juggle a ping pong ball and a sledge hammer and a chainsaw. He asks if he’d have to wear sequins and when Sharon say yes, Chance says that’s where he draws the line, he can’t do it. Chance thanks her for making him laugh and distracting him.

He gets a call from the Chicago PD about up the Stark case and says that he has to follow up on it. He excuses himself and gets ready to leave. Sharon tells him that she will be there thinking of all the new career paths he can consider. He tells her that he can’t wait to hear about them. Sharon gazes at Chance as he heads to the coffeehouse door and he looks back at her, smiling.

Over at the Abbott house, Nikki arrives after hearing from Jack about the break-in at her and Victor’s apartment in Chicago. Jack mentions that Jeremy is responsible, and the situation could have been a lot worse, given that Jeremy is a dangerous criminal. With a smirk and sarcasm, Diane says that it’s ironic how Nikki’s misfortune actually worked out in her (Diane’s) favor now that Jeremy is gone. Nikki looks at Diane suspiciously.

Nikki raises questions how Jeremy by-passed the building’s security system and how he seemingly knew the alarm code for the apartment. She acknowledges that she hasn’t changed the code in years, going back to when she and Jack spent time there.

When Jack insists that Jeremy is anything but innocent, and refers to Jeremy as a criminal who can’t be trusted. Chance mutters “yeah, unlike the upstanding citizens of Genoa City who always play by the rules.”

Nikki says she has to leave and Jack walks her to the door. Afterward, Chance tells Diane and Jack that Jeremy has been arraigned in Chicago and was denied bail. Chance wonders how, as a paroled ex-con, Jeremy took such a risk and was careless enough to have left reading glasses behind while committing grand larceny. Chance asks Diane and Jack if there’s anything else they need to tell him, and they decline.

Chance lets them know that it’s his job as law enforcement to handle men like Stark, “not people who think their wealth and their position give them carte blanche to maneuver any situation to their benefit.” Jack suggests that the Chicago PD and the judge in the case found everything to be above board, so now they’re proceeding accordingly. Chance mumbles that it looks this way and sees himself out.

He returns to Crimson Lights and tells Sharon how he’s frustrated with the way things have gone in the Starkcase. He tells her that he’s getting increasingly fed up with his job. Then he declares that he cannot do this anymore.

At Jabot, Victor exchanges words with an angry Adam, who does not buy into his father’s claim about being there to meet with Kyle about Harrison, who represents the next generation of Newman’s. Adam is aware that this is all about humiliating him and says that Victor is manipulating Kyle into an attempt to give him the “heave-ho.”

Summer is not on board with the idea of Adam getting pushed out the door because she believes that Adam is capable of “ruining things all on his own.” Meanwhile, in Jack’s office, Victor is talking to Kyle about Diane and how Kyle should have cut all ties with her.

Kyle considers the idea of getting Adam out of Jabot and wonders what that plan would look like. Victor tells Kyle that he will need him to be certain that Adam takes a big fall. This way, Adam will realize he made a mistake working at Jabot and will be more receptive to a new opportunity at Newman Enterprises to make things right. When Victor explains that he needs Kyle’s assistance to facilitate this, Kyle mentions that he’d like something in return.

Transcript proofread and provided by Suzanne

Diane: And by bringing Jeremy the necklace, I proved my loyalty, as well as my desire to resume a life of crime with him — or so he believed.

Summer: How can you be so sure of what he was thinking? I mean, for all you knew, he was setting you up.

Diane: Well, because — how can I put this delicately? — Um, Jeremy also thought that we were going to reconnect physically, seal the deal. But I wasn’t about to let that happen.

Kyle: Yeah, I would sure as hell hope not.

Diane: No, but it gave me a chance to get him out of the room to take a shower. And while he was in the bathroom, I planted the rest of the evidence that Jack had given me, and then I got out of there quickly.

Jack: So, when chance showed up to execute the search warrant, Diane was long gone, he found the necklace, he found the other things, and he was arrested.

Diane: Yes, which Jack and I arrived in time to see and enjoyed immensely.

Jack: And he turned them over to the very capable hands of the Chicago Police Department, and they will take it from there.

Diane: [ Sighs ] We are finally rid of that horrible man. You and Harrison — you have nothing to fear. We’re safe. We can go back to our lives as normal.

Kyle: I know you’re expecting a pat on the back, but I’m still not happy about how all this went down.

Jack: Kyle, I’ve explained to you —

Kyle: No, you changed the plan at the last second, adding a ton of risk.

Jack: The risk of any complications at this point are very slim.

Kyle: You hope.

Diane: Well, now that Jeremy has violated his parole and committed this new crime, he will go back to prison.

Summer: Can you guarantee that? I mean, do we even know how good his lawyer is? What if he has a solid alibi for the time of the burglary?

Jack: It was still worth the risk. Look, I had to do this. Diane was continuing this charade with Stark and getting in more and more danger. Look, the only way this would work is if we moved fast. And we managed to protect the entire family.

Summer: [ Sighs ] You also broke more laws and you lied to the police. I’m sorry, but are we really supposed to be happy about that?

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: Is everything okay?

Chance: Yeah. Yeah. I’m just thinking about a case. Nikki and Victor’s apartment in Chicago was broken into.

Sharon: [ Gasps ] What?

Chance: Yeah.

Sharon: Is everyone okay?

Chance: Yeah. No one was there at the time. A necklace was taken, though.

Sharon: Well, if this happened out of the state, why were you involved?

Chance: Well, the perp is a man named Jeremy Stark. He’s a paroled ex-con, and he has connections to certain people here in Genoa City, most notably Diane Jenkins.

Sharon: [ Gasps ] You know, there’s been a lot of speculation about what she was doing those years in California.

Chance: Well, because Stark was staying here, Chicago PD reached out for assistance. He’s considered a flight risk, so they wanted him picked up ASAP. So I went to the hotel, searched his room, arrested him, and took him back to Chicago.

Sharon: And when did this happen?

Chance: Last night.

Sharon: Did he have the necklace?

Chance: Yep. Along with other evidence in the room that linked him to the crime.

Sharon: Sounds pretty cut and dried.

Chance: Doesn’t it, though?

Sharon: Except something’s not sitting right with you.

Chance: No, it’s not.

[ Elevator doors open and close ]

Victor: Hey, son. I’m looking for Kyle.

Adam: Why?

Victor: What do you mean, why? To finish the discussion about Summer and Harrison.

Adam: No, you’re not.

Victor: What do you mean, I’m not?

Adam: After I saw you at Society with your heads together, you already admitted that I was the topic du jour.

Victor: You were mentioned in passing, son.

Adam: You know, when we were talking, you actually said you were interested in how I’m doing here at Jabot. So, why don’t you level with me for once and just tell me what is really going on?

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Chloe: Good morning!

Sally: Mnh, no, it isn’t.

Chloe: Wow. This pregnancy is really laying you out today.

Sally: Oh, my god. Morning sickness is no joke. Does everyone feels this bad?

Chloe: I did. Every time. And I think with Bella, it was worse. But I got through it, and so will you, which is why I brought some tried-and-true remedies that worked for me when I was pregnant. And hopefully they’ll get you back on your feet in time for this meeting with Jill so you look a little less…green.

Sally: Oh, my god, I cannot believe I feel this rotten, on today of all days. We’ve been working so hard on this pitch.

Chloe: You are tough. You can do this. I know you can.

[ Knock on door ]

Nick: Hey, Sally, it’s me!

Sally: [ Sighing ]

Sharon: I know that Diane’s been trying really hard to make a fresh start, so to have this guy show up from her past and threaten all that…

Chance: Yeah, Stark’s a bad guy. There’s no question there. I mean, the guy just got paroled after serving 6 years of a 10-year sentence for large-scale money laundering. He’s never been charged with burglary, though. There we are.

Sharon: So, it’s his change in M.O. that’s giving you pause?

Chance: I mean, the pieces fit. You know, on paper, this is a solid arrest, and everybody in Chicago seems satisfied.

Sharon: But you don’t.

Chance: I don’t like how easily all this fell into place. I don’t like that he only took one piece of jewelry, either.

Sharon: You know, you’re right. If you’re gonna go to the trouble, why not haul off with everything you can carry?

Chance: Exactly. And also, why Nikki Newman, hmm? What’s the connection there?

Sharon: She’s wealthy and high-profile. Presumably, there’d be a lot there worth stealing.

Chance: On the way to Chicago, Stark was ranting the whole time about Diane and Jack Abbott. He said they framed him for something he didn’t do to run him out of town. Now, normally, I wouldn’t pay any attention to this, right? Every crook’s innocent. Everyone’s being framed. Everyone has an excuse. But there was something in this guy’s voice. It was like a — a certain bitterness. I don’t know. It just keeps eating away at me. On top of which, this whole thing feels contrived. It reminds me of when I was dealing with the Newmans after Locke’s death. And everyone has an explanation for everything, all neat and pat.

Sharon: I can understand why you’re concerned. It does all sound a bit convenient.

Jack: Hey, let’s be honest here. Jeremy Stark was a genuine threat to all of us. We had to eradicate him from our lives as quickly as possible.

Kyle: Assuming the charges stick. What if he posts bail and comes after Mom in retaliation?

[ Doorbell rings ]

Jack: Wait. This is Nikki. I called her last night, asking her to talk with me. Please let me handle this.

Diane: Of course.

[ Door opens ]

Jack: Hi, Nikki. Come on in.

Nikki: Hi. I got your voicemail, but I thought I would just come on by.

Summer: Hi.

Nikki: What’s going on?

Jack: I assume you’ve been apprized of what happened in Chicago?

Nikki: Of course. Our housekeeper notified us as soon as she realized that my jewelry safe had been opened.

Jack: Then I assume you also know that the man who broke into your apartment was Jeremy Stark.

Nikki: No, I did not know that. Why on earth would he do that?

Jack: I assume he planned to use the necklace to set Diane up.

Diane: Since he’d somehow gotten it in his head that I had worked with the authorities to turn him in six years ago.

Nikki: Well, I knew the Chicago police were following a lead, something about reading glasses being left behind. I did not know that it was tied to Stark. Or you, Diane.

Summer: You know what? Um, we need to get to work.

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Nikki: Bye-bye.

Kyle: See you, Nikki.

Nikki: Okay.

[ Door closes ]

Nikki: How is it you know so much about this?

Jack: Diane and I went to speak with Stark just as chance was taking him into custody.

Nikki: Huh. That’s interesting timing. I mean, I have to say, I am very curious why a convicted felon would go all the way to Chicago to steal from me. Do the police have any theories about that? Because I certainly do.

[ Knock on door ]

Chloe: Nick. How you doing?

Nick: I’m good. How are you?

Chloe: Just peachy. Um, what can I do for you this fine, beautiful morning?

Nick: Well, I know you have your big pitch coming up, so I just wanted to come by and wish you both luck.

[ Door closes ]

Nick: Hi.

Sally: Hey.

Nick: Uh, please don’t take offense to this, but you’re not looking your best.

Sally: [ Sighs ] None taken.

Nick: Is it your stomach bug again?

Chloe: Yeah, you know, that norovirus is going around. It’s a real killer. Ugh, there have just been a few kids in Miles’ class who have had it two or three times already.

Nick: Yeah, that’s what, uh, Christian’s teacher said, too.

Sally: Yeah, it’s probably just all the, um, junk food and late nights, you know, getting ready for the meeting.

Chloe: Yeah, but I brought her a bunch of home remedies that should perk her right up. So, um, I think we got it covered. But it was very sweet of you to come by.

Nick: What are your symptoms?

Sally: You know, I — I really don’t mean to be rude, but, um, would the two of you mind taking off for a little bit? I really have to get ready.

Chloe: Yeah. So, uh, just pop an antihistamine and two of those ginger chews I gave you. And don’t worry about today. I’ve got everything dialed in for our pitch, and I will make sure to hit all of our selling points. You just need to get through this for just a very short time, okay?

Sally: Yeah. I’m on it.

Chloe: Okay. Um, let’s, uh, give the girl some space, yeah? Nick, you coming?

Nick: Yeah, you, uh — you go ahead. I need to talk to Sally for a minute.

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Nick: Is there more to this bug than you’re telling me?

Sharon: I’m sure you handled that arrest by the book.

Chance: Oh, I absolutely did. But is that enough? I mean, what do I do now? Am I supposed to walk away and ignore my doubts, trust that the legal system’s gonna do its job? I mean, is Stark gonna get a fair trial with an adequate defense in front of an impartial judge? I don’t know. And the fact that I’m even asking these questions is making me sick, Sharon. It makes me have a lot less respect for myself and my job.

Sharon: Hmm. Well, I’m sorry.

Chance: It’s bringing up all these things again, how I put this job above everything else at such a huge personal cost. You know, and it’s ’cause I believe so much in what I’m doing. At least, I used to.

Sharon: Well, I hate to hear you talk like this.

Chance: I hate it, too. But am I wrong?

Sharon: You know, I’ve seen a lot of rules bent and laws broken by people who I love and respect. And sometimes it was done for my own benefit. And I’m no saint. But you’ve worked with the legal system and government bureaucracies for a very long time. You know that compromises are made and that things are not always black and white, as much as you would like them to be. That’s the reality that you’ve had to internalize so that you can carry on doing your job, so you can carry on doing what you know is right. That’s the only thing you can control. The rest of it is out of your hands.

Chance: That’s true.

Sharon: You know, people change over the years. I’m not the same person I was 20 years ago. You know, maybe you can no longer stuff down things that disturb you the way that you once were able to. And like you were saying the other day, maybe you’re in a situation that you no longer want to be in. Only you can determine that.

Chance: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: If you were to consider changing things up, what do you suppose you would do?

Chance: What, as in a job? Oh… no idea. My whole life has been public service — soldier, federal agent, detective. Never been outside that arena. Not sure what it would look like.

Sharon: Well, maybe I could help you with that.

Jack: The good news is Stark was arrested, and he had your necklace on him at the time.

Nikki: How very lucky for you.

Jack: Unfortunately, that necklace is now evidence, and I doubt the police are gonna be giving it back to you till after a trial, uh, presuming there is one.

Nikki: Jack, I don’t care about the necklace. I’m sure the authorities will keep it safe. I’m just relieved that that horrible man is off the streets.

Jack: Oh, believe me, Jeremy Stark’s arrival in this town and the threat he posed were catastrophic. This could have been a lot worse than this.

Diane: Isn’t it ironic that your misfortune turned out to save me? Imagine that.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] So, he’ll succeed where I failed.

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Summer: Grandpa, hi.

Victor: Hello, Kyle.

Kyle: Good to see you, sir.

Victor: Kyle, before you start your day, would you give me a minute?

Sally: There’s a lot riding on this pitch. I’ve just been going really hard to get everything prepared.

Nick: I’ve seen you deal with pressure before. Seems like a lot more than just nerves. And last night, you didn’t want to have a drink with me.

Sally: Well, I mean, I already explained that. I just wanted to have a clear head this morning.

Nick: Yeah, but, uh, looking at you now…

Sally: Yeah, well, I kind of wish you wouldn’t ’cause I know I look terrible.

Nick: Well, I like looking at you. Sally, I’ve been through this a few times. Is there a chance this is morning sickness?

Sally: My stomach — it just won’t quit. And then it does and I get cocky and I think I’m fine and then it just happens all over again and I just… I’m just really tired. I just didn’t want to say anything until I was sure.

Nick: Are you sure?

Sally: I’m pregnant.

Sharon: I’m sure there are all kinds of fields that you could explore. I mean, for instance, take all those quick, precision moves that you learned, you know, in the military. Just give them a little tweak, and soon you could be a — a dance instructor.

Chance: [ Laughs ]

[ Sighs ] Thank you.

Sharon: For what?

Chance: Making me laugh, distracting me. You are remarkably good at getting me out of my head.

Sharon: Well, I’m glad that you feel comfortable enough being silly with me.

Chance: Mm, it’s easy. It feels natural.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Chance: Sorry.

See you.

Adam: How sad is this. Letting my father pull your strings. Oh, and making my life more difficult, just maybe take me down a peg or two.

Kyle: I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Victor: Kyle, if you don’t mind, I’m gonna wait for you inside.

Adam: Well, you must be proud. Husband does whatever Victor says.

Summer: [ Chuckles ] Sorry to deflate that massive ego of yours, but if you must know, Kyle is making Valentine’s Day plans and he asked grandpa for a favor. So, thanks for ruining the mood.

Kyle: I hope you’re satisfied.

Adam: Oh, poor you, Summer, you being dragged into the family machinations yet again.

[ Door closes ]

Victor: So, why have you not returned my calls?

Nikki: What puzzles me is how Stark got into our apartment so easily. I mean, there were no signs of a break-in. It was as if he knew the code to the alarm. And Victor and I haven’t changed that alarm in years. In fact, now that I think about it, it’s the same as when you and I spent time there.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Diane: Oh, sounds like we have more company.

Jack: Excuse me. Chance. Uh, I assume you’re here on official business?

Chance: I am.

Jack: Well, please come on in.

Nikki: Good morning, Chance.

Chance: Nikki.

Nikki: I’m glad I get to thank you in person for your work on my behalf last night.

Chance: I’m just doing my job.

Nikki: And just so you know, Victor and I are definitely going to be changing our security system. We’ll be upgrading it. I was just telling Jack that we haven’t been very diligent in changing the codes. But I am very curious as to how Stark was able to figure it out.

Chance: That is a very valid question.

Sally: I was gonna tell you. Obviously. I just… I didn’t want to say anything yet.

Nick: I mean, that’s some pretty big news. How do you feel about it?

Sally: Stunned, mostly. I mean, really, I’m just trying to wrap my head around it, like, being pregnant and expecting a baby. I’m just wondering how it all happened. I mean, obviously, I — I know how, but…

Nick: [ Chuckles ] [ Sighs ] I’m still not sure why you waited. I mean, why didn’t you tell me about this before?

Summer: I see your paranoia is working overtime.

Adam: [ Scoffs ] It’s a very nice cover story. Phyllis taught you well. But I happen to know what’s going behind those closed doors has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day or any kind of romantic surprise that Kyle’s cooking up for you. See, dear old Dad — he wants to humiliate me, so he’s capitalizing on Kyle’s animosity for me.

Summer: Oh, yeah? How exactly is he doing that?

Adam: By making it seem like they both want the same thing, by working together to give me the heave-ho, when in reality, Victor is manipulating Kyle. He’s an expert at it.

Kyle: I apologize for not getting back to you. My mother’s been going through some serious issues the past couple days, so I’ve been focused on that.

Victor: Uh-huh. I bet that has something to do with that fellow Stark, right? Now, Kyle, when you became aware of the connection between your mother and Stark, that should have rung some alarm bells, right? You should have severed all ties with your mother. But I guess that’s never easy when it comes to family, is it?

Nikki: Do you have any theories on how Stark accessed the apartment? You know, did you find any fancy electronic gadget that he could have used to bypass the alarm?

Chance: No, I didn’t. I still can’t explain it. Mr. Stark is still very loudly proclaiming his innocence.

Jack: Oh, pl– he is anything but innocent. He is a convicted criminal that can’t be trusted.

Chance: You mean unlike the upstanding citizens of Genoa City who always play by the rules?

Nikki: Well, I need to be going.

Jack: I’ll walk you out.

Chance: I’ll keep you updated about your necklace.

Nikki: Thank you.

[ Door creaks, closes ]

Chance: I wanted to come by here and tell you two that Jeremy Stark was arraigned this morning in Chicago. Now, given his previous conviction and his parole status, the fact another crime violates the terms of his release, and that he’s considered a strong flight risk, the judge has denied bail.

Diane: Oh, thank god.

Chance: Yeah, Stark’s a menacing guy, been involved in very high-stakes criminal activity. I mean, the guy’s no amateur. Having been granted parole, he sure has a hell of a lot to lose. And that is why him breaking into an apartment, stealing a necklace, and being so careless about it just doesn’t make sense to me. I mean, the guy left his reading glasses behind while committing grand larceny. Who does that?

Jack: I don’t begin to know how his mind works.

Chance: Is there anything else that you need to tell me about this incident?

Jack: Well, I’m sorry that you feel like things aren’t as they should be, but I don’t know how you think Diane or I could shed any more light on the situation.

Chance: So, you’re saying you can’t?

Jack: No, I’m saying he repeatedly threatened her since he got to Genoa City. Thank god she had the courage to stand up to him. She wouldn’t play his game, and I’m sure that infuriated him.

Chance: It is my job as law enforcement to handle men like Stark, not people who think their wealth and their position give them carte blanche to maneuver any situation to their benefit.

Jack: Obviously, the Chicago police and the arraigning judge found everything aboveboard and are proceeding accordingly.

Chance: Yeah, Jack, that is how it looks. I’ll see myself out. Thank you for your time.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

[ Both sigh ]

Victor: Kyle, I understand your conflict, okay?

Kyle: Do you?

Victor: Well, of course. Diane is your mother, no matter what she has done, as Adam, in spite of all of his flaws, is still my son and always will be. I understand that.

Kyle: If you truly get it, then why would you even suggest I cut ties with my mother?

Victor: Have you ever thought for a moment how your life would be if your mother had not returned?

Kyle: Is this what you came here to talk about? Or should we focus on Adam? Because I assume that’s why you’ve been trying to get a hold of me.

Victor: Adam does not belong here. His place is with his family, with the Newmans.

Kyle: What about wanting to teach him a lesson? You know, that’s kind of how you were talking before, but maybe you’re a little conflicted yourself. Like you said, none of this is simple.

Victor: You must hate the idea that Adam is working alongside your dad, running this company.

Kyle: I don’t technically report to him. Neither does Summer. And he has no authority over Marchetti, so we don’t really cross paths.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Kyle: It’s true he wasn’t my first choice when my dad was looking to replace me as Co-CEO.

Victor: [ Chuckles ] That must be the understatement of the year.

Kyle: [ Laughs ]

Victor: Huh?

Kyle: You’re right.

Victor: Right.

Kyle: Adam may be competent at his job, and he’s taken a lot of pressure off my dad, but I don’t trust him. And I never will. We don’t get along. I think he’s arrogant and disrespectful.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Kyle: And I don’t appreciate the constant drama that swirls around him. It’s negative energy none of us need.

Victor: I can only imagine. Anyway, I appreciate your candor.

Kyle: So, for argument’s sake, what are we talking about? How do you propose we get Adam to leave Jabot and go back to Newman? Because from where I stand, that’s a tall order.

Sally: I didn’t tell you I was pregnant before now because I’ve just been completely overwhelmed. I already know what people think about me, and this is just confirmation.

Nick: Who cares, Sally? It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. This is between you and me. And I think you’re just amazing.

Sally: [ Sighs ] I just — I don’t want you to feel like you have to say that.

Nick: I wouldn’t do that.

Sally: I already told you things about my past, how I tried to manipulate a guy back in Los Angeles into staying in a relationship with me. So, I mean, how could you not feel like I’m trying to manipulate you?

Nick: I promise you I do not think that.

Sally: We’re supposed to be taking things slow. This isn’t slow. I mean, this is not how this was supposed to go. I like you so much. And I just — I just wanted things to be easy and sweet and sexy just a little longer. Because how could this not change everything?

Diane: Is this real? Is — is Jeremy gone?

Jack: For good this time.

Diane: This whole thing has been such an ordeal, and — and for it to finally be over…

[ Breathes deeply ]

Jack: How’s it feel?

Diane: Overwhelming. But in a good way, like I — I feel — I feel free, like I — like I have a future again. And this is all thanks to you. I mean, none of this would have been happening without your help. And — and then those — those kind words you said about me to chance today. You just — you made me — you made me sound so strong.

Jack: That is how I see you. Strong. Formidable. You’re amazing.

Diane: [ Laughs ]

Jack: I know you were afraid at times, but you managed to overcome that. You didn’t need anyone to save you from this situation. You needed backup. You needed support.

Diane: [ Sighs heavily ]

Jack: And I was more than happy to give that to you.

Diane: [ Exhales sharply ] [ Laughs ]

Sharon: Uh-oh. What happened?

Chance: I just had a conversation that reinforced every nagging doubt I have about my job in law enforcement. Made me realize I can’t do this anymore.

Nick: Don’t assume the worst. You’re getting way ahead of yourself.

Sally: Chloe says I’m in denial. And she’s not wrong. I mean, I’ve been on overload since I found out, and I’ve been feeling crummy on top of it. I just — I had to put everything on pause, which, honestly, is exactly where I need to be right now. So, can you please just be in denial with me, at least for now? I’m — I’m just not ready to deal with everything that comes next.

Nick: Just don’t stress, okay? We’re gonna figure this out. It’s gonna be fine.

Adam: Look, even if Kyle sees it coming, he won’t be able to Victor has a way of corrupting even the most upstanding people.

Summer: For the record, Adam, there’s no need for Kyle to work with Grandpa to push you out the door because history has proven that you can ruin things all on your own, with no help from anyone.

Victor: All I want is Adam to realize is that he made a mistake. He doesn’t belong here.

Kyle: And to get that to happen…

Victor: Make sure that he takes a fall — a big fall, okay? Then I would present him with an opportunity to pick himself up, make things right. It would be a good thing for Adam, a good thing for Jabot. But what I do need is your assistance. I need you to help facilitate that.

Kyle: I would like something in return.

Victor: And what is that?

Next week on “The Young And The Restless”…

Nick: Alright. Let’s hear it. What are you plotting or scheming now?

Tucker: So, it sounds like your son’s venture isn’t going so well at Chancellor-Winters.

Phyllis: That’s none of your business.

Tucker: But it could be. And it definitely should be.

Lauren: There’s your answer!

Fen: Hi, Mom. Way to go on the award. I’m so proud of you.

Lauren: Oh, sweetie, thank you.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Nikolas: Your expertise will make all the difference. Yes. I promise to address any concern you might have.

[ Sighs ] Sorry. I have to go. I will see you soon. Well, that sounds important. Business. Yeah, well, you and I have some pressing business to discuss. Such as? Finalizing your divorce. Wound is healing nicely. That’s good. I guess then all that remains is the ankle-plasty. Sounds good. Yeah, this is cutting-edge reconstructive surgery where they replace your knee with an ankle.

[Laughing] What are you saying? I’m sorry. What did you say? Just playing around. You okay? You seem a little distracted. Yeah, I guess I am. I’M… I guess because I-I care a little too much. I don’t suppose there’s a medical procedure where my heart could be removed altogether? I’m sorry for being so quiet on the way over. You got a lot on your mind. When you’re ready to talk, I’m here. Dex? Can we talk now? I mean, if you have time. For you? Always. Violet: Cameron, I’ve missed you! Oh, not more than I missed you. Violet insisted on two things today — a brownie and a visit with her cousin. In that particular order, I assume. Cameron, if you’ve missed me so much, where have you been? I know you don’t want to hear it, but I still think that there is a possibility that you might have been misdiagnosed and you don’t have schizophrenia. I know you think you mean well. There’s such an easy way that we can find out and we can see and maybe you can show up for curtis after all. Why don’t you want to take the steps to find out for sure? Because it’s too late. It’s never too late to advocate for yourself, marshall. Portia, I appreciate your interest and all that. This has gone beyond interest. But you have to understand; I’ve already made peace with my diagnosis. And I respect that, but is this really acceptance or has it morphed into some sort of complacency at this point? Portia… if not for yourself, then do it for curtis. Enough! Why can’t you just mind your own business?! How’s willow? Why do you ask? It’s obvious you don’t give a damn about her. Michael, of course I give a damn. Willow’s well-being is the most important thing. Yeah, her physical well-being, maybe, but you concealed this secret for months with no regard for how important it was for willow to find her mother. I mean, sure, yeah, y-you confessed to save willow’s life, but you couldn’t care less about her actual feelings. You couldn’t be more wrong.

Uh, no, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to disappoint you, but from a medical standpoint, I don’t think that there is a way to remove a human heart. At least not without putting another heart back in. Hm. Yet anyway. Darn. Well, you’ll keep me posted, though, right? I-I will. I’ll let you know. I will be the first test patient, so… bad breakup, huh? Yeah. You? Yep. Pretty bad. Oh. No. You may have seen… some of the gory details in the invader, as a matter of fact. Not at all. Never read the newspaper. I don’t believe you. Hey, h-have you seen nina reeves around here today? I did see nina earlier today, yeah. I wonder if she got the results from her bloodwork. I mean, I know about willow and hopes for a bone-marrow match. And I was just thinking about nina ’cause she called me when she was waiting. Yeah, I can’t speak to the bloodwork, obviously, but, um… yeah, from what I could tell, she seemed to be suffering from the same affliction as you — heartache. Nikolas: I haven’t had a chance to meet with ava about the divorce yet. Oh, no need. All the details have been ironed out. By whom? By ava and myself. Ava and you discussed the end of my marriage without me. Yes, well, you’ve been a little preoccupied lately, haven’t you? Well, not that it’s surprising, given your pregnant mistress escaped her captivity. Ava hates me so much that she couldn’t even sit with me to talk this through. I’m sorry. Talk what through exactly? Nikolas, your marriage is over. Oh, come on. Don’t tell me you’re still holding out hope after cheating on ava with esme and elizabeth. Ava and I — we shared something special. It’s indescribable.

Shared. Past tense. Just I never truly believed that she wouldn’t come home. Oh, no. Ava’s coming home. It’s just… you won’t be here. I’ve just been working a lot. What about jake and aiden? Well, they’re in school. Just like you. Aunt elizabeth hasn’t been over in forever. Does she not like me anymore? Are you crazy? Of course she likes you. We’ve just all been really busy with the holidays. But never doubt for a second that she likes you. She loves you. We all do. That’s good. Because I love you, too. Oh. Is it you? What do you mean, is it me? Do you not like aunt elizabeth anymore? Uh… my mom kept a secret from our family. I’m guessing a big one. Huge. You don’t have to tell me if… no, it’s fine. You’re — you’re gonna find out eventually. Um… god, it sounds so weird to say. Nina reeves is willow’s biological mother. Damn. Yeah. And your mom knew? She’s known for months, apparently, but she didn’t want to say anything until… until she realized that willow was sick. Yeah, and as you can imagine, that has made messy things within my family even messier. That explains why your mom stormed out of the chapel. I went to find sonny, and to say he was pissed is an understatement. Oh, sonny’s not the only one who’s pissed. Michael is furious. Well, how about you? How do you feel? I feel terrible. I feel awful for michael and willow. I mean, what they’re going through… it’s the worst thing that anyone could possibly face. But I still feel really bad for my mom. Did you ever just stop for a second to think about the impact withholding this secret would have on willow? Willow’s feelings were all I was thinking of. Willow told me she did not want to know who her birth mother was. It was clear how willow felt about nina. How you feel about nina. How we all feel about nina, michael. That woman tried her best to destroy our family. Can you imagine the damage she would have done if she had known that willow was her daughter? So, yeah, whatever it costs me, however much I lose, I will not apologize for trying to stop her. Sorry. I shouldn’t have raised my voice. I-I shouldn’t have pushed you. Is everything okay? Why did I hear yelling? That would be me, son. It’s my fault. No, no. I-I never should have spoken to you that way. Please. Please accept my apology. Only if you’ll accept mine. What are you apologizing for? We — we — look, look, look, if the two of you are at odds, I would rather you squash it now. We’re having a difference of opinion. About what? Portia thinks I should get a second opinion for my diagnosis. She has this crazy notion that I may not have schizophrenia at all.

Aside from the episode that precipitated marshall’s arrest all those decades ago, he hasn’t suffered any other signs of acute mental illness, no signs of psychosis associated with schizophrenia — hallucinations, delusions, paranoia. Okay, but my dad’s been on those medications all those years. Aren’t they designed to repress those symptoms? Well, yes, absolutely, but — [Sighs] How do you explain the fact that marshall hasn’t had an episode in nearly 40 years? Couldn’t that just mean the illness is being managed properly? Or it can mean that you never had the illness at all. And then you factor in curtis’ genetic testing results — completely devoid of any of the markers for schizophrenia. Hm, yeah, but that’s not that unheard of. It’s not always inherited. The simple fact is, marshall’s answers to my many, many inquiries has led me to believe, in general, that his life and behavior, they don’t fit a clinical diagnosis. Have you ever suffered from any cognitive challenges? No. Depression that’s escalated to suicidal ideation? That would also be a no, but, portia, w-with all due respect, you are not a psychiatrist. Well, then, dad, maybe it’s time you saw one. Michael’s losing his mind right now because the woman he loves might die. I remember that feeling. With oscar. You’re going crazy because you feel like there’s nothing you can do. And you’re getting angry and you’re picking a fight. I-I get it. Michael just wants to feel like he’s making an impact. And who’s a safer place for him to unload on than your mom? Exactly. There’s nothing that michael could do to ever make my mom stop loving him. So eventually he just has to understand that my mom was trying to protect willow. She wasn’t trying to hurt her. You’re good at that. Good at what? Seeing all the different sides, understanding where everybody’s coming from. Well, I’ve had practice. Oh, so this isn’t the first time people in your family have been at odds? Oh, it’s shocking, I know. I just hate that my mom’s the one taking all the heat when the people to really blame are sonny and nina. Will you stop growing?! It’s getting out of control! Tell me about it. Hey, sweetheart, why don’t you, um… why don’t you go grab us a table? Pick any one. Would you like to have a brownie with us? Yeah. I mean, if you have the time, you’re welcome to join us. -Yay! -I’ll grab the brownies. I’ll grab the table.

[ Chuckles ] Okay. Clearly I walked in on something. Yeah, well, she just had some questions about… us. Mm. What have you told her? Not much. I mean, I didn’t really know what to say, to be honest. But…don’t worry. I’ll — I’ll figure something out. How about we’ll figure something out…together? So you’re not sorry? For trying to protect you, willow, and your family? No. But I am very sorry for how I went about it. Right. You know — and how did you go about it? Because I already know you lied by omission, you conducted a dna test without consent. But something tells me that’s not the whole story. It’s gonna do us no good to keep going over — mom, mom. Just tell me the truth. Now. Okay. What do you want to know? Did you enlist that firefighter to lie to drew about who willow’s mother was? Yes. And when you offered to assist drew with his investigation… my goal was to obstruct it.

You asked me if you and aunt elizabeth and i would ever live in one house together? Will we?! No. Oh. Yeah. Um, let me try this another way. You know how anna and i almost got married and then we didn’t? You and aunt elizabeth are gonna get married?! No! Ohh… oh, boy. I am really bad at this. You really are, daddy. -Yeah. -Elizabeth: How are you? I’m good. Cameron. I mean, I’ve been better, but I’m not falling apart over the breakup. I know you’re not, but it’s still hard. Especially since you’ve always been such a big source of support for josslyn. It must feel weird not being there for her while her family’s going through this nightmare. What nightmare? My family is so fractured right now. We’re in no position to handle this type of crisis. And I’m sorry, but that’s on sonny. Him drop-kicking all of us to run away with nina didn’t exactly leave us on stable ground. But you don’t want him back with your mom. Never. I wish that i never had to hear his name or see his face ever again. And I want to choke every time he says that we’ll always be a family. Because I can’t stand avery and donna growing up idolizing that man when I know that he’s gonna fail them like he failed all of us. And — god, I just wish… you wish what?

[ Sighs ] It doesn’t matter. Tell me anyway. I wish that you’d quit. I wish that you would hand sonny back his gun and tell him you’re not taking orders anymore and walk out. I’m going to. What? When? Within six months. Hopefully a lot less. I will no longer be working for sonny. Why don’t you just quit now? There’s something I have to finish first. I’ll tell you what it was and why I had to do it once it’s done, but until then… you’re just gonna have to trust me. If you want, you can stop by my office later. I’ll give you a referral for a plastic surgeon that can look after the scar you got from the hook. Okay. Thanks. Yeah. Oh, hey, doc. I don’t know you very well. I mean, I don’t know you at all. But from what I can tell, I think — I think it would be a real shame to remove that heart of yours. Thank you. What about a mental-health evaluation? And I can get you a referral. You gonna jump on this bandwagon, too? Portia makes some great points. I know. You young people, you think you know everything. That’s not what it is. Yeah, let me tell you something. The treatment I got back then worked. Why mess with it now? Because you had an episode. Okay? And it could be tied to your meds. Who knows what the long-term effects could be or even if you need to take them at all? The pills help. Or maybe you just think they do. I have been able to perform without anxiety as long as I wasn’t trying to solo. That could be psychosomatic, marshall. You said to me yourself that the illness doesn’t affect your music, just your ambition. It could very well be what’s held you back all these years isn’t schizophrenia but the mistaken belief that you have it. That’s quite a leap. Maybe it is.

[ Chuckles ] But maybe it isn’T. All we’re asking is for you to find out. So you actively prevented or tried to prevent willow from discovering that she had a family? Yes. You delayed her cancer treatment, mom. Unknowingly. I didn’t know willow was sick. Doesn’t matter. Don’t you get it? You made decisions for willow without even considering the consequences. I mean, you played god with her life. You can’t possibly think that I would want to hurt willow. I don’t — I don’t — I don’t think that you did this out of malice, okay? But — but — but you — you basically thought that, what, that nina was the enemy, right? So — so willow wouldn’t even have wanted her a-as a mother in the first place. I know she wouldn’t because she told me. But what you’ve done here — t-the lying, the — the manipulation, the double dealing. I don’t know, mom, but that sounds an awful lot like nina. And if nina is the enemy, then — then — then what does that make you?

ly believed that willowneeded protecting from nina. I still do, michael. Well. [Sighs] You aren’t — you’re not wrong about nina. Willow told me that she’s already lobbying for a relationship. With willow? And the kids. Oh, god. That woman cannot help herself. We need her, mom. She’s our best chance. I know. I know. And just so we’re clear, the last 24 hours has not changed my opinion of nina. She’s — she’s self-centered, greedy, and unstable. And she’s the last person I would have chosen to be willow’s mother. So I’m not gonna pretend that I… that I don’t understand why you did what you did. If I was the one who harmony confessed all this to, yeah, I… I would have considered hiding it myself. So in six months, when you’re not working for sonny anymore, you’ll give me all the details. When it’s over, I will tell you everything. Okay. I’ll trust you. Thank you for telling me. It’s kind of a relief. Yeah, it’s a big relief. You won’t be around nina and sonny. Might even make it a little bit easier to bite my tongue when everyone’s pointing fingers at my mom saying that she’s out for revenge. It’s not the reason she kept the secret. It’s just not. For what it’s worth, I think you are handling everything that’s going on with your family really well.

[Sarcastically] Yeah, I’m handling things really well. My family’s in a crisis, and instead of being with them, I’m cooped up here with you, hiding. You’re not hiding. What would you call this? There’s a reason soldiers are rotated home for r&r, why we all sleep at night, okay? You need a break from the physical, the mental, the emotional. You’re allowed to take a breather. So I’m not being selfish? Good. Because right here with you… is the only place I want to be. I had no idea that willow was sick. No one did. Josslyn was just here, and I was so cold to her. Wait. Where are you going? To find joss. I need to make sure she’s okay. Can you deliver these for me? Yeah. Of course. Thank you so much. Okay, missy, this one is for you. Yum! And for you. Thank you. Uh… is cam okay? I saw him rush out of here pretty quickly. Josslyn. Ah, got it. I’m gonna draw a picture of cam and his girlfriend. Actually, violet, cameron and josslyn aren’t dating anymore. Do you know what that means, sweetheart? When people break up? What the hell are you doing? You know, I could ask you the same thing. You turned away a patient you were ordered to treat. I don’t turn away patients, mason. If I can’t treat them, I refer them to another physician. Semantics. No, it’s my job. Except you’re not doing your job, cuz. You defied a direct order from the boss. I’m not playing this game anymore. Alright? Tell the boss I’m done taking orders! You promised to give ava spoon island? That’s right… including wyndemere and most of its contents. I excluded some of the more important cassadine family mementos, naturally. Yeah, naturally. Oh, I’m sensing a little sarcasm. Well, are you also sensing complete and utter shock? How could you? Oh, well, quite easily actually. You see, when ava let it be known that she was in possession of information and materials that could seriously damage the cassadine family name, well, wyndemere is a small price to pay for the family name, don’t you think? No, I, uh — I disagree. In fact, I strenuously object. Yeah, well, it’s too late now anyway. Listen, how long do you think it’ll take to pack all this up and — and move out? Oh, not long, considering that I’m not going anywhere. You can’t take away my home. How long have portia and you been talking about this genetic thing? A few months. Sounds about right. And do you trust that portia has your best interests at heart? Of course. Do you trust her expertise? Implicitly. Well, then that’s where you lose me, pop. Why the resistance? My reasons are mine alone. But I want to understand. And so do I. A-and I promise, I’ll never bring it up again if that’s what you want.

[ Exhales sharply ] This damn disease. It ruined my life. Forced me to abandon my family. And I missed out on precious years with my sons. If I was misdiagnosed, that means all those… those sacrifices — it was all for nothing.

Thank you. You’re welcome. Not for that. Though I did enjoy myself. Good. I meant thank you for telling me it’s okay to take a break… and for being a refuge. It’s your dorm room, joss, not mine. It’s not the room. It’s you. Life is so strange. You can feel so many things at once. Yeah? What are you feeling? Safe and happy… and worried and guilty. Why guilty? For feeling safe and happy when my brother is in hell. I mean… michael has had a pretty rough romantic history. And to think that he found love, the real thing, and could possibly have it ripped away is — we’re not there yet. I know, but the thought that we could be… I can’t stand it. Think about something else. R&r, remember? I’m not a soldier. No, you’re way tougher than those guys. Oh. You know what else I am? Hmm? Starving. Oh, thank god. Me too.

[ Both laugh ] Sushi or pizza? Is that even a question? Both: Sushi.

[ Both laugh ] So that’s why we haven’t seen a lot of each other lately. Your dad and I just needed a little time apart. But why? Finn: Because sometimes people realize they’re not meant to be together. Like you and anna? That’s right. Yeah. And now you and aunt elizabeth. Yeah. But that doesn’t mean that we don’T… like each other. No, quite — quite the opposite. So that means maybe you’ll get back together? Not this time, sweetheart. We can still be friends. Yeah, and you’ll — you’ll always be family. Elizabeth is your aunt and her sons are your cousins, and that will never change. And we love you so much. Can we all go camping together? Oh. Well, I mean, I would really like that. Yeah, as soon as it warms up. And we can invite grandpa and uncle chase, too. How’s that brownie? Delicious. You should get one. Oh, well… uh, aunt elizabeth can — can share mine. I walked away from my wife… …and my sons… my sons, breaking all of our hearts in the process to protect them from — not just from the violent instincts, but from the stigma. And, by god… by god, I stayed away for — for it all. Tj’s birth.

[Sobbing] Tommy’s death. Your — your — your struggles with addiction. All because of one diagnosis — one diagnosis — I-I avoided being close to anyone for over half my life. So when you tell me… I may not have schizophrenia, that I may not be sick… it forces you to face painful questions.

[Sobbing] Have I wasted… please, have I wasted my entire life?

[ Sniffles ] Pop… my entire life or… worse. Was it stolen from me? Genetic testing is the first step to figuring this out. And no matter the result, none of this is your fault. Portia: Curtis is right. I-I know that this is terrifying — the prospect that you’ve been operating under misinformation this entire time. But think about the other side of it. Think about how freeing it could be to be out from under this diagnosis. And I know curtis wouldn’t tell you this, but he’s already shared with me his fears that this disease would steal you away from him again. You said that? Wouldn’t it be nice to know if this was something

we didn’t have to worry about? Please, marshall. For your family. I don’t think I can. You knew what this blood tie to nina could do to our family. I was so afraid to let her in. Yeah, and you were right to be. I would have felt the same way. But unlike you and what you did, I would have let willow decide. Why not give her all this information and let her decide where to take it from there? I see now that that’s what I should have done. I was…trying so hard to protect our family because nina has hurt us all so much. I don’t know, michael. I just had tunnel vision, and it just seemed like the only option.

[ Sighs ] I’m so sorry. Well, where do things stand with drew? He’s really disappointed and… he has every right to be.

[ Sighs ] I’m just really great at ruining things. You know, I just… well, drew is a very forgiving guy, so don’t give up hope. What about you? Can I hold out hope for you? Or are you as done with me as you are with your father? I may have lost my wife and son. I won’t lose my home. Hm. You’re forgetting a couple of vital points, nikolas. See, I have a storage locker filled with evidence that you held esme against her will. Now, that junk may be damning. It’s not definitive. Then there’s your written confession to pushing esme over a parapet, not to mention the recorded version that’s already in ava’s possession. And not to mention a very alive esme. And if she can’t remember, she can’t testify. Alright, nikolas. Hayden barnes. You know, my patience with you is nearing an end. After all I’ve done for you… and what about all I’ve done for you? I sheltered you on cassadine island, for god’s sake. And that’s the only reason I haven’t washed my hands of you altogether. And here I thought it was because you were such a family man. Well, I do have big plans for this family, nikolas, but you keep throwing a monkey wrench into them. Plans you’ve yet to follow through on. I call your bluff, uncle victor. I will say this just once more. The next time you defy me, nikolas… will be your last. You know, the boss doesn’t like a quitter. She’s not my boss anymore ’cause I quit. Tell me something. Why can’t she just find another doctor that’s more amenable to the cause? Look, I know you don’t take well to being strong-armed. Nobody does. So how’s this? The next time we send you a patient, take care of them. Or what? Come on. What? What’s gonna happen? Mason, the answer’s no. No. I recently lost a good friend. I’ve been dumped by my girlfriend. I’m really starting to feel like I got nothing left to lose. I guess that’s me told, huh? You bet. So I should leave you to your legal doctoring. Hallelujah. Lollipop? No, thank you. Hmm. You know, I’m starting to take that personally. Maxie’s daughter wouldn’t take one either.

Your father and I have mademistakes that hurt you. It would kill me if you cut me out of your life. Look, dad didn’t just make one mistake. He chose nina over his family again and again. And what you did was wrong. But you did it for your family — my — my family. You have to know, the second I heard that willow was sick… I know, I know, I know. And so — and so does willow. She understands. Can you forgive me? I’ll tell you this much, willow already has. Do you ever wonder if we deserve her? Every day. Now, I have a long way to go until I’m as forgiving… as willow. But I do know that I — I need you in my life. And my children need you. And, uh, you know, willow needs all of us. I need you, too. More than you know. More than you know, michael. I have to believe that you are strong enough to face a future that is different from what you’re used to. One that includes curtis, tj, stella, trina, epiphany… and me. And anybody else who comes along. Can I have all that without unraveling everything else? You can try… but I have a feeling your past will always come back to haunt you. You can’t go back, marshall. No one can. But if you get these answers… …well, the next chapter could be a whole hell of a lot better than the one before it. Austin: When did you see georgie? This morning. With her brother and little sister at the playground. They were with a very attractive, older couple. Maxie’s parents, I bet. Mason, what have you done? Take it easy. I already told you. I just offered the girl a treat. She turned me down, though. Either she doesn’t like lollipops or she’s been warned against strangers. Thing is, I’m not gonna be a stranger again when I visit her. Kids can be so trusting, you know? You wouldn’t dare. Don’t make me. Ava: Knock, knock! Am I interrupting? I’ll take what you said under advisement. Now, if you’re finished, I have a meeting here soon. Yes, of course. And I’ll make myself scarce. Oh, but, um, before I forget… what’s that? Your divorce settlement papers. You’ll notice amongst the standard provisions there’s a paragraph here ceding the deed to spoon island over to ava. Please have it signed before I return. I’m gonna draw a new family picture at the camping ground. Oh, fun. Hm! Cam, jake, and aiden will be on a log. Grandpa and uncle chase will be in the lake. Is it okay if you two sit next to each other in my drawing? As long as we’re not

in the fire, I’m good. Silly! You’ll be by the fire roasting marshmallows. Just don’t make me look too short next to your dad. You’ll wear heels. Heels? Camping? Fashion first. Maxie taught me that. Of course she did. Hey, you know, kiddo, it’s getting late. You want to finish your drawing at home? Maybe say good night to aunt elizabeth? Okay. Good night. Good night, baby girl. Give me a hug. I love you. I can’t wait to see you again. Let’s do it again. Okay? I can’t wait. Yeah. Here, sweetie. Put your coat on. Here, you take that. Bye! Bye, baby. Bye. Bye. Carolyn: Hi, lizzie. Mom.

[ Knock on door ] That would be the food. The delivery person has horrible timing. Can you get it so I can put something on? Do you have to? Yes.

Brooke: I still can’t wrap my head around this. Bill and sheila?

Hope: It is certainly disturbing.

Brooke: Well, she should be in prison after everything she’s done.

Liam: But thanks to my dad, she’s not. She’s roaming free.

Brooke: How can bill have anything to do with sheila? Liam, what’s going on with him? How could your father stoop so low?

[ Sheila laughing ]

Bill: It’s the one thing

I can’t take.

People I love

walking out on me.

Sheila: You are never

going to have to worry

about that with me. Hello, handsome.

Bill: You okay? My sons didn’t upset you too much, did they?

Sheila: Oh, no. No. If anything, I’m happier than I was before. I got to see you defend me. I got to see how much you really care for me and I am okay. I am– I am more than okay, now that I finally found a man like you.

Sheila: Liam and wyatt, they just don’t understand us right now, but in time, they will. At least I– I hope so ’cause, uh, I know how important they are to you and it really bothers me that my presence is distancing you from– from them or anyone else that you care about.

Bill: Don’t let it.

Sheila: Yeah, but I know that you’d like them to share in our joy. But bill, you can talk to me. I’ve said that. You can say anything that you want to. So how do you really feel about this?

Brooke: Bill has made some serious mistakes in the past that have had frightening consequences. But this? I thought I knew him. I thought I understood him.

Liam: Join the club. Hm. I didn’t think that my dad could surprise me any more than he already has in the past and he sure proved me wrong. I mean, wy– wyatt and I were just over there pleading with him. He’s not– he’s not him right now. He’s– he’s lost.

Brooke: We’ve gotta get him away from her.

Liam: I know and I’m trying to say that wyatt and I have tried and he’s acting like– like he’s finally found the woman of his dreams.

Hope: And steffy has tried, too. Katie as well. I mean, they’re all trying to get him to listen to reason, but he is shutting everyone down.

Liam: Well, everyone so far. There’s one person who hasn’t talked to him yet. One person he values and respects more than just about anyone.

Hope: Liam actually does have a good point, mom. Look, we all know how close you were with bill and if anyone might be able to get through to him and get him to stop this insanity, it would be you.

Brooke: So, you said wyatt was with you when you talked to your father? That mean he knows what taylor did?

Liam: He knows that my dad blackmailed steffy and finn. He does not know about what.

Hope: Same with aunt katie.

Brooke: Well, I’m not one for advocating secrets, but I can also understand why taylor wouldn’t want the whole world to know. Only a few of us do and she still feels horrible about that night.

Hope: You two really are becoming close friends, aren’t you?

Brooke: Yeah, it’s amazing. I was just talking to her before I came over here. She’s– she’s really upset that that night is being used this way.

Liam: Yeah, even though my dad promised that he wouldn’t breathe a word of it.

Brooke: As much as taylor doesn’t want anybody to find out, she’s really tempted to just confess. Just take all the power away from sheila. Steffy and I told her that’s not a good idea.

Liam: Then that’s understandable ’cause if my dad’s paying off the judge, like, what’s the point? Like, what good does it do for taylor to turn herself in if it doesn’t mean sheila’s gonna do time, too?

Hope: Is there a way to prove that judge mcmullan has been bought? Or at least a way to assign a different judge to the case?

Liam: I don’t– I don’t think that would do any good because knowing my dad, he’d be willing to pay off every judge in town as long as it kept sheila out of jail.

Brooke: God. What? He’s that convinced that he is in love with her? In love with this monster? I mean, it wasn’t so long ago where he professed his love to me.

Liam: He’s a different person now. You should see him, brooke. I mean, and you will. He’s hollow, he’s muted, he– he– he lets sheila speak for him, it’s–

Brooke: Do you think she has something on him?

Liam: He swears no, she doesn’t, and it’s just that they’re… in love.

Brooke: Uh, okay. Okay. That’s it. That’s it, I have no choice. I’ve gotta go see him.

Hope: I think it will be a good thing. I mean, we all know how bill felt about you.

Liam: Feels. Feels about you. You really could be the one person that gets through to him.

Brooke: Yeah. I hope so. I hope we can convince him how wrong this is.

Hope: Mom, just please promise me you’ll be careful. Bill might not be alone and we all know you can never be too careful when it comes to sheila.

Sheila: Whatever you’re feeling, good or bad, I– I– I want you to turn to me. I wanna be the one that you confide in. It thrills me to think that– that I can be a source of– of positive things for you. I– if I could give you a percentage of what you’ve given me and I’m not talking just about helping me stay out of prison. You believed in me, you defended me, and you loved me, and I never thought I would ever feel that in my life again. You are a miracle, bill, you are my miracle. And what caused your relationships that have been damaged because you’ve chosen me. I can’t believe it. I think that you have that faith in what we can be, even after katie came here saying what she wanted to. And liam and wyatt attacking me the way that they did, and yet you never swayed. You stood up for me. And I know that had to take its toll, a huge toll on you. Maybe more than you realize. Maybe– maybe you are swaying. You know, I told you I’m a big girl and you can tell me anything, I– I meant that. If you want me to leave, I’ll leave. No arguing, no tears. I’ll live a happy life of freedom and forever grateful to you and in debt to you and I will always remember fondly that these moments we shared were so special to me. So, just say the word, okay? You say the word and– and I can be gone. You never have to see me again. There you go. What’s it gonna be? Do you– do you– do you want me to walk out those doors because if– if that’s what you want, that’s what I’ll do. Sweet pillows of softness!

Hope: Do you think we should’ve let her go over there alone?

Liam: Thanks. No, I think your mom has a better chance without us tagging along and making my dad feel ganged up on.

Hope: Yeah, but what if sheila really is over there?

Liam: Yeah, I know that you’re worried about what might happen.

Hope: Well, aren’t you?

Liam: I am, but I also know how much my dad cares about your mom and he would never ever let harm come to her.

Hope: That is the father that you used to know. Not the man that he’s turned into. I mean, I don’t even know who he is anymore. This whole situation is surreal.

Liam: I know, it’s weird, it’s hard to make sense of. I mean, I– I wanted my dad to find someone special, you know? I want him to have a loving, healthy relationship, but for him to think he’ll get that from sheila, like–

Hope: It’s scary how good she is at using people. I mean, to know how she has manipulated your father, someone who is usually so shrewd and cunning.

Liam: Yeah, she actually convinced him to break his promise to taylor to keep her secret. I mean, like– like, none of this would even be happening right now if my dad didn’t have that ammunition.

Hope: And it just all goes back to that terrible night taylor shot your father.

Sheila: So, what do you say? Are you having second thoughts? Do you want me to leave?

Brooke: Bill.

Sheila: Brooke.

Brooke: So it’s true? Everything I’ve heard about the two of you?

Sheila: I guess it depends on– on what you’ve been listening to.

Brooke: So you’d really do this, bill? You would threaten taylor’s freedom, you’d blackmail her to keep sheila out of prison.

Sheila: It keeps taylor out, too. It’s a win-win. And you can just keep staring daggers through me, but it’s the truth.

Brooke: I’m not here to talk to you. I’m here to talk to bill, so if you could just give us a minute.

Sheila: No, I know why you’re here. You wanna tell bill how horrible he is. The same way katie did and– and liam and wyatt, too. Steffy and taylor. It’s no surprise that you want a turn.

Brooke: You think that’s why I’m here? That I wanna tell bill that he’s a horrible person? No, sheila. I could never do that.

Sheila: Okay. Well, you know what? Why don’t you go ahead and give your speech because–

Brooke: Oh, my god, please!

Sheila: I’m sure it’s nothing we haven’t already heard.

Brooke: This is between bill and me and whatever you and I have to say to each other should be through the bars of a cell.

[ Sheila chuckling ]

Sheila: And what would that be? Have you committed some sort of crime?

Brooke: You know you’re damn well guilty for all the crimes that you’ve committed and you belong in prison. I don’t know what you did to get to bill, to have him risk everything that he cares about, but somehow you did. And I am here to put a stop to it, to make sure that bill comes to his senses. And to make sure that you’re hauled off and thrown in prison behind bars for the rest of your life. Mr. Clean magic eraser powers

Hope: Obviously, I don’t condone what taylor did to your father, but if he really wanted to make her pay, he would’ve pressed charges back then, not blackmail her all those years later in order to keep a psychopath out of jail.

Liam: Yeah, he– I mean, he also knows that taylor wasn’t herself, right? Like, she– she literally didn’t know what she was doing.

Hope: Certainly not. She was still reeling from the news of what she thought had happened to steffy. I’m sure when she went over to confront your father, she never intended to hurt him.

Liam: But my dad left a gun out. It was just sitting right there, rage took over, and she did the unthinkable.

[ Gun shot firing ] And I can say that because I thought I was the one who did it.

Hope: Or maybe it was because you convinced yourself because of how upset you were with what your father did.

Liam: Well, yeah, but that goes to show the cruel tricks our brains can play on us.

Hope: Especially after you’ve had a concussion.

Liam: It is strange, I mean, I still actually remember myself doing it and I think that’s just my mind’s way of coping with the betrayal, like, you know, like, I imagined– I imagined my father dead and– and then I imagined myself making that happen.

Hope: I know how upsetting that was for you, liam, but I think bill made quite a few enemies leading up to that shooting. I mean, remember how many suspects there were?

Liam: That’s why I’m really grateful that taylor confessed to my dad because for one, that couldn’t have been easy and two, if she hadn’t done that I– I would still probably be blaming myself for it.

Hope: Do you really think that bill is that calculating, that he has just kept it in the back of his mind all these years to use against her?

Liam: No. No, I don’T. I– I actually think that my dad meant it when he promised to keep quiet about what taylor did and it was sheila who came along and manipulated him into changing his mind.

Hope: But at the same time, liam, bill has chosen to align himself with her. He’s chosen to be with a murderer.

Liam: Yeah.

Hope: I mean, he picked sheila over the safety of his own family. Liam, the threat of sheila still lingers because of the choices your father has made.

Sheila: I don’t appreciate this, brooke. You coming into my home saying–

Brooke: Your home?

Sheila: I’m the one living here and I don’t take kindly to you showing up unannounced like this.

Brooke: Oh, this is not your home, this is bill’s home.

Sheila: All right, now you’re just being rude.

Brooke: No, I’m not– I’m not being rude. Really, that’s not my intention. My intention is to come and help a friend out. Somebody that I see has gotten off track and needs help to get back on. Somebody I care about and share many wonderful memories with. You and I have been through way too much for me to just give up on you now.

Sheila: Yeah, you have been through a lot together. A lot of pain and heartache. Bill has memories of you, memories of you turning your back on him.

Brooke: Remember when you came over to me the day that ridge and taylor were getting married? You– you professed your love to meyo te you would do anything for me. Well, now is that time. I am begging you. You need to see sheila for who she really is. You say that you love me, and yet you claim to love this woman the same way? She’s opposite of who I am. I know what you need. I know because I’ve been there. And sheila is not the woman that you need. Take this off, bill. You think it’s protecting you, but it’s not. It’s clouding your judgement because you are a good man, bill. You’re a good man who deserves to have a good woman by his side for the rest of your life. And that’s not sheila because all she is gonna do is bring heartache. She’s dangerous. She’s gonna hurt you, your family, because that is sheila. That is all she knows how to do. You can prevent that, you know. All you need to do is pick up the phone, call the police, get them over here, and they will arrest her. They will throw her in prison. Come on, bill. Let’s put sheila behind bars today.

Bill: You’re right, brooke. Everything you’re saying. You’re right.
