Recap written by Suzanne

Ridge consoles Steffy in her home. She’s still upset about having shot Sheila, and Finn walking out on her right before the police came.

Hope comforts Finn in her arms (in Deacon’s place). She understands that he has a connection with Sheila that the rest of them didn’t. She thinks he needs to process his grief. She advises him to get through this with Steffy.

RJ and Zende are shocked to learn from Thomas that Steffy killed Sheila.

Deacon drops by Steffy’s house, upset that Sheila is dead. She and Ridge are annoyed that he’s so upset and doesn’t seem to understand that Steffy acted in self defense. Deacon can’t understand why Sheila did this, since he knows she worked so hard to change. Deacon gets upset when Ridge says that she got what she deserved, and when he sees her blood on the floor.

After Deacon leaves, Finn arrives. Steffy is glad to see him. Ridge yells at him for not being there for Steffy, but Steffy asks Ridge to leave them alone. Steffy apologizes, and then she and Finn hug. She thinks they can get through anything together. However, when she goes to kiss him, he can’t bring himself to kiss her back (gee, maybe because his dead mom’s blood is still on the floor nearby?? Not very romantic!). He doesn’t know why he’s reacting the way that he is. He’s very uncomfortable and rushes out, apologizing that he needs more time. Steffy calls after him, shocked, and then she gets very upset that he’s left her all alone.

Hope tells Thomas about her visit with Deacon.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

It was from Clyde Weston.

Thank God you guys are here. So what’s the emergency? Did you get another video? Not a video, a call. From Tripp? If only. It was from Clyde Weston. He said if I ever want to see my son again, I need to break him out of prison. In the next 24 hours.

Oh, God. My neck.

What I wouldn’t give for a nice fluffy pillow. I’m imagining you and I on a road trip to Italy right now. After Paris? Mm hmm. So then our trip continues. Oh, definitely. Right now we’re sitting at the most Wonderful cafe eating the most delicious pasta in Rome. Oh, the sauce is magnificent. Brought Diablo by any chance?

Mm. Topped with tons of grated Parmigiano. Oh. Oof. You have some pretty deliciously vivid dreams. Yeah, well it sure beats reality right now. You mean you don’t like being locked inside a fermenter? I will say the, the one thing that makes this nightmare bearable is having you right beside me.

Same here. I’m so glad that’s not a dream.

What the hell, Stefan? Why did you call me so late?

One sec.

Okay. Here goes.

EJ?

I need your help.

So you’re sure that no one followed us? Kate, I was a cop most of my life, I promise you. We’re clear. Okay. Well, I think this is it.

Ah, there he is. Good evening, brother.

Very funny, mom.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Honey, I’m so happy to see you. I’m, thank God that you’re safe. Yes, so far I am safe. Are you settling in, Lucas? Well, there’s not much settling in. You know, this is a pretty simple lifestyle here. Yeah, it’s kind of quiet. It’s quiet, yeah. But I hear a lot of stuff, you know. Like I am a humble man of the cloth, lost and confused, taking a vow of silence, renewing my faith in God, but yet no one looks at me or even talks to me ever.

Honey, I guess I was lonely. Mm hmm. What? Better than Statesville. Yes, Roman, it is better than Statesville, I cannot argue with that. But, you know, this is one lifestyle that I’m not cut out for, so, you know. No? No. My darling son, my shy, retiring darling son, my god knows hates attention. This isn’t the kind of lifestyle, I don’t know, that my son the introvert would love.

Look, she’s a riot, isn’t she? Look at you. Yeah, I don’t know, because, you know, like, brother Lucas is kind of, that rings a nice bell, doesn’t it?

You know, when we get out of here, I’m taking you to one of those spas, like the all day job kind of things, where you get the works, you know, massage, manicures, that thing with the crap, like white crap all over your face. They’re called facials. Dr. Dupin’s Charms. And I also wanted my bath. Anything your heart desires.

So then what do you get when we get out of here? Three weeks sitting on the couch watching March Madness. I could have guessed.

I just, I, I, I can’t stand sitting here anymore. I’m going, I’m going, Buggy. Okay. Uh, we can’t have that. So then, pack your imaginary bags, Trip Johnson, because We are going on yet another trip. Okay, well then, I’m psyched, Wendy Shin, because my bags are packed and I’m ready for our next adventure. Yeah. Look, I know you think this is madness.

Well, you got that right. We’re not breaking that murderer out of prison. Hard no for me, too. Okay, but we don’t have any other choice. Don’t you get it? If we don’t break Clyde out, he is going to kill Trip. And Wendy. Okay, see, we have no other option here. I mean, unless you guys have some, some brilliant idea.

I mean, I’m open to suggestions.

What do you got?

You want my help? You can’t be serious. EJ, please, just hear me out. Forget it. Whatever you’ve done now, Stefan, not my problem. EJ, please, I need your help. You are the only family I got left. We’ve been through this all before, Stefan. You scutter around like a brainless roach slipping in and out of the darkness.

And then, somebody turns on the light. Oh no, you panic right before they step on you with a crunch. Please, I tried to avoid the dark path I did, but things got out of control. And EJ, I need your help. Or what? Gabby might suffer another broken neck. I need your help or it’s the end for me.

What are you talking about? I did it. Hey, Jay.

I shot Harris Michaels.

Say something. Anything! What am I supposed to say? I don’t know, maybe start with how? Why? How about What the bloody hell? My brother just confessed to attempted murder of a police officer. What in God’s name were you thinking? E. J., you knew the position I was in. I had no choice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you keep telling yourself that, Stefan.

But don’t try selling that bridge to me. There’s always a choice. Not this time. Clyde ordered me to kill Harris, or Gabby would face the consequences. Oh, Gabby, Gabby, Gabby. Who brings nothing but trouble and misery into our lives, yet you cling to that woman. How in the hell did it come to this, Stefan? I don’t know.

Okay, it just snowballed. And now things are worse, because Harris is alive. How is that worse? Because I didn’t finish the job! And because of that, because I failed, now Clyde is coming from me,

accommodations or queen. Yeah. But, uh, that minimalist look, you know, very trendy. Please judge. Absolutely. Yeah. Your mom suckers me into watching those house design shows with. Oh, come on, you know you love learning about interior design. I do love curling up on the couch with you. I wish we could watch a little baseball, but whatever makes my Katie happy.

Sure. Oh my God, do I have a good husband or what? Yeah. You know, the next time a baseball game is on, I am going to watch a round with you. A round? All right then. What? Why are you smiling? Why are you laughing? Nothing. No, I could just listen to you guys all day. It’s entertaining. Listen to you talk about anything.

Because, you know, I don’t have any TV or radio or music or anything like that. Honey, I’m sure you could wander around the grounds. I mean, the scenery is really quite lovely. I mean, we saw it because the abbot took us for a tour, you know, before he sends us down here to visit you, so. You had a visit with the abbot?

I would have paid money to see that. What? Your mother can’t mind her pees and queues with a man of God? Well, I don’t know. I don’t know. I thought you’d be struck down by lightning as soon as you entered the building. But, good for you. Glass houses, my friend. Glass houses. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you’re right.

You’re right. You know, when I had my visit with the abbot, you know what he told me? He wanted to discuss possible life changes. And thank God that my, uh, vow of silence kicked in so I could put the kibosh on that for a while. Recruitment into the priesthood. Interesting idea, don’t you think? For me? Really?

Why? Because I’m such an introvert, like Mom said earlier? I don’t like women? Why? What am I missing? I’ve been in jail, now I’m here. What does it matter? Okay, uh, uh, listen. I don’t think you should forget that this monastery and the inhabitants are keeping you safe. So if I were you, I would do everything I possibly could to keep it going that way.

I will. But celibacy. I’m drawing the line there. I’m not doing that. Sorry. But you know what? Anything else, I’m gonna be great. I’m gonna be like a rockstar rookie monk. You should see it. I mean, you just wait and see. Wow. Hey, you’re gonna make your mommy proud.

And now, we are going to take a road trip. To pizza. Mm. Yeah. Ooh, okay. Come on in. And a slick little stick shift speedster, huh? Oh, yeah. With the top down and the wind in our hair. Okay, so pizza. So we’re busy in the tower, right? Uh, of course. Oh, mama mia! There it is! Look at how tall it is. Oh, it’s taller than I expected.

Yeah. Huh. Okay. You ready to climb up to the top? I thought you were afraid of heights. A little, but this is a Leaning Tower of Pisa baby, so I’m gonna brave it. Okay? Okay. Oh, wow. Okay, these, uh, These steps are getting really narrow. Oh, sure are. Eight floors up. This is exhausting. Yeah. Oh. Okay. We’re at the top.

Let’s go out on the balcony and take a look. That is only four feet wide. Seriously? Four feet wide? Yeah.

Alright, let’s, uh, let’s take this from the beginning here. How did Wesson get a hold of you in the first place? Okay, so I had come home from a walk and nobody was here, obviously. I had just, I had called you, I had left a message, and then a second later, the phone rang again. I thought it was mine at first.

But it wasn’t. So, so I was searching around the apartment, and I found a burner phone, and Clyde was on the other end. Someone obviously broke in here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was planning on it. Right. Yeah, so that video said that she was being monitored. Right, so what did Clyde say? Oh, God. Well, he made it really clear that if I wanted to see my son again, I needed to break him out of prison.

Okay, did, did he, did he reveal Tripp’s location? No. Any clues? No. Does he expect you to break him out of Statesville? He told me I needed to call my family and get reacquainted with them. That’s it, let’s get the mafia involved here, dammit Ava. I can’t think of a more dangerous move than releasing that monster back into the world.

You know what, there is no guarantee that Weston is gonna hold up his end of the deal. You know that, right? Okay, what I know, Steve, is we have to try. Because this could be the only way we see our son again.

Clyde made his instructions very clear, so let me be clear with the two of you. We don’t have time to ponder. The clock is ticking as we speak. We’re making progress on the video. We’re running it through various recognition programs. Okay, but nothing definitive yet, right? No, not yet. Okay, great. So we are no closer to saving Tripp and Wendy than we were before.

And the cops sure as hell haven’t found anything. Come on, Steve. Steve, we need to do this. Okay, we don’t have any other options. I need to break that bastard out of Statesville today. And I need your help. Dammit, Ava, why did you have to get mixed up with Weston in the first place? Okay, you want to blame me?

Go ahead. Go ahead and blame me. That is fine. Alright, I have made some really bad mistakes when it comes to Clyde Weston, okay? But our son? Our son is innocent. So if you don’t help me pull this off and he dies, then you are going to be the one to blame. And I’m not so sure that you can live with yourself if that happens.

Can you? So,

how are you occupying your time here? Oh, it’s been great, actually. Um, I was in charge of the vegetable garden. Oh. Yeah, but I killed all the seedlings. I didn’t know. I guess you’re not supposed to do that. So now I get to hang out in the laundry room and do laundry. You? Laundry? Yeah. Laundry. I’m a pro now.

I can fold like a madman. All four corners meet and everything. Yeah, well, I can only imagine that. Yeah, well, it keeps me busy, you know, because after I’m done with work, I’m very bored. Because I don’t have a phone. Or anything. Or a baby. But we brought you supplies. What’d you bring me? Yeah, well, let’s see.

First, some treats. So there’s chips, there’s cookies, beef jerky. And in here, a razor, toothbrush, toiletries, a lot of other stuff, but here, Doug sent you books. Salvaged, yeah, from his library. And he said that you’re to start with this one.

Ah, the Counts. The Counts of Monte Cristo. Boy, I can’t wait to dive into this with both feet. Come on, Lucas, you can give it a try. Hey, um, Doug thinks you’re back. State’s phone protective custody, by the way. I guess the fewer people know where I am, the better. All right, I’ll give the Count a try for Doug.

I’m only doing this for Doug. Okay, well you know he’s going to really appreciate it. Yeah. I do miss everyone. I miss my life. I miss my family. I know you do. And you’re gonna get it back. You’re gonna get it all back. I promise you that.

At this moment, I am having serious doubts that Al Jean Pooh truly overlaps. Okay, EJ, spare me the insults. Please. I know I made a terrible mistake, and for that, I feel profoundly But Harris is leaning on me now because he knows that I’m the shooter. He wants me to help them take Clyde out. Oh, he knows you’re the shooter.

Wow. The plot certainly does thicken. Okay, it does more than just thicken, Wiseass. It gets me killed. Because if I help the cops take Clyde out, I’m a dead man. Right. Well, that sounds like a you problem. Oh my god, EJ, have a heart, could you? For once?

I came to you because this thing has spun so far out of control. And because you were my brother and I thought maybe, just maybe, you would have an ounce of empathy for me. Not to mention if you would help me out the first time when I came to you. Oh, no, no, no. Don’t you dare try and blame me for this. I’m not.

I’m not trying to blame you for anything. I am simply saying, that with your help, this situation would not have gotten out of control. But stupidly, I pulled that trigger, and this thing began to unravel. And now, I’m out of options. This is life and death. I’ve got nobody left. I’ve got nothing left. I mean, what the hell am I supposed to do?

You’re not going to do anything. I’m going to call the police.

Sure is cold up here. Oh, but just take a look at that view. It’s breathtaking. I’ve never seen a more beautiful sunset.

I really am a total Dr. Doofenshmirtz, aren’t I? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So, where are we going now? Well then, let’s just drive by the coast, find a little feel out we can spend the night in. Yeah, okay. Okay. I’m ready. Oh, I love this car. Uh oh. The car broke down. No, not the roaster. Damn it. I guess we’re just going to have to spend the night. Here, just, uh, gazing up at the stars.

Hey, well, as long as I have you right beside me, it doesn’t matter where I spend the night.

Yeah, I feel the same way.

We’re gonna survive this. Right.

Together, we can survive anything.

Emotional blackmail? Really? That’s where you’re going with this? Okay, where else am I supposed to go with this? I mean, I, I have apologized. I have begged. I know, I will admit to you that I am a bad person. I have made bad choices. I’ve been a damn fool about all Stop. Stop. Berating yourself isn’t gonna help anybody, especially not Tripp.

Now come on, we can’t panic here. I know you’re scared, I’m scared too. But we have to focus on what’s important, and that’s finding Tripp and Wendy. Right. Hey partner

We’re running out of options here

Now we can continue trying to dissect this video Or maybe it’s time that we Consider other options John, if we do this, we have to be all in. I got your back, buddy.

Alright. If breaking Weston out of prison is the only way to bring Tripp and Wendy home safely, then that’s what we’re gonna do.

I’ll call Ray for giving the heads up that you’re headed to the station to turn yourself in. Oh my god. Although, come to think of it He might be open to picking you up right here. Are you out of your mind? You know that going to the cops, EJ, is a surefire way to get me and Gabby killed. I mean, come on!

We’re family! Lower your voice, dammit. Holly and Nicole are asleep.

You know, if father was still alive, he would tell you to stand by me, and to do the right thing. But despite our differences, Despite my mistakes, he would tell you to preserve family at all costs.

All right, I’ll call you almonds, raise you two cashes. Oh, come on, I’m out. Kate? I call. I have what I believe is down as a full house. Damn, I thought you were bluffing. That’s a poker face. Well, I learned from the best. Yeah, what the hell was I thinking teaching you how to be me at poker?

On another note, any news? Any news on Harris? Actually, there’s great news. He came out of his coma. Yeah, it looks like he’s going to recover fully. Right, but what about the investigation? I mean, what about the guy who took a shot at me? What about the fire at the Horton House? Well, we all know who’s behind that.

Clyde Weston is determined to burn Salem and everything in its wake to the ground. I know, but is there any headway on the investigation at all? The police are keeping a tight lip, and under the circumstances, I think that’s a good move. Let’s them do their job without letting everything out for Clyde and the whole world to look at.

But he has got to pay. I mean, he has to. Well, as long as he’s still alive and he’s not paying for what he’s done, there’s gonna be a target on my back. What the hell is going on doing out there? Why haven’t you opened the hatch yet? What if it isn’t Goldman? What if it’s your dad or someone who can help us?

Hey! We’re inside! Open the hatch, please! So you conveniently invoke our father’s name in an effort to coerce me into mopping up

your mess. I believe you’ve employed the same strategy with me from time to time.

I’ll help you, Stefan. But, there is no get out of jail free card with this little game. Just like our father, I believe in quid pro quo. So in exchange for my services, You will sign over all of your Demura shares to me. Along with all land holdings and all your offshore assets. You gotta be kidding me. E. J.

will have nothing left. I’ll be destitute. Destitute, yes, but alive. I believe it’s more than a fair trade. Take your time to consider my offer. You can’t be serious. Oh, I am just as serious as you and Gabby were when you did the exact same to me. Or did that slip your simple mind? You know, you should really rent out that space between your ears, Stefan.

My God, you would net a fortune. So this is your offer? Take it or leave it. No matter to me either way.

And what do I get in return? What, besides your life? I’ll have you transported to a safe and secure location. Arrange you passage out of the country. Care to be specific? Ideally, I’ll drop you in a country that doesn’t hold any extradition treaty with the U. S. I have some other ideas, but I will share them with you in all due time.

Any other questions?

Obviously I need to keep Gabby safe. The only way I can protect her And yourself, don’t you forget. Is to give you everything that’s rightfully mine.

Fine. It’s yours. All my shares, everything you want, it’s all yours. You have my word. Well, your word is worthless. But your signature on a binding contract, ooh, that is pure gold. I’ll write something up that will formalize our arrangement without any risk of misunderstanding.

How’s the Horton rebuild coming? Um, well, not fast enough for Julie and Doug, you know, but Chad is handling the insurance and contractors for the most part, so. Yeah, Julie wants to, uh, restore the house to its original look. Her way of honoring the past, but, uh, I mean, that’s gonna be a challenge, but I think Julie can handle it.

And speaking of challenges I talked your mom into a 5k run next month. How’s she gonna do that? She doesn’t wear sneakers. First time, yeah. Good luck. Stop, stop. I mean, I admit I was slow to commit, but then I heard there was the prize, which is a 5, 000 bottle of wine. So I thought, hell no. Of course I couldn’t throw my hat in the ring.

Your mother is a huge fan of the Margot, plus the winner gets a, uh, winemaker’s dinner to boot, so. How can you beat that? Yeah, right. We are both highly, highly motivated. It’s nice to see. It’s nice to see you guys making plans, living your life to the fullest. Lucas, I know that you’re bored. I mean, I know that you’re lonely, but this isn’t going to last forever.

It’s not. No. Have you been thinking about your future? What you’re going to do next when you’re a free man? I have. Yeah. I’d love to start a new chapter in my life, maybe a new venture of some kind. But, um, you know, it’s gonna be tough if I don’t get my freedom, which I probably won’t get. Lucas, you don’t know that.

I know this is hard on you. I mean, I know it is. Way too much idle time, just like you said. And, uh, you miss your family, and you just I mean, all that time that you’d have spent in prison, all of that. You’ve been so brave through all of it, and I’ve been so, so proud of you. I have. And when you’re a free man, all of your family, including your children who adore you, well, we’re gonna make up for, We’re gonna make up for lost time, honey.

Okay? We’re gonna celebrate your return. And we are going to shower you with so much love and affection. Love and affection. I can handle that.

Alright, now that we’re all on board, how are we gonna pull this off? Well, first of all, we need to get blueprints of the prison. We need to know What kind of security system they have in place? What kind of video system? Yeah, sure. Okay. You know, if we had more time, we could disappear Weston into thin air.

Yeah. Yeah. What if we can’t? What if it’s just that easy? What do you mean? You got a plan? I think I might. No! Let us out of here! Please! Please! Let us out of here! It stopped. I knew it. The vents are closed.

How can you tell?

I don’t feel any air movement.

We’re sealed in. Those

are your disguises? With that hat, you look like Audrey Hepburn, I’m sure. Well, that’s a, that’s a lovely compliment. Are you sure no one followed you guys in here? Okay, look. Roman did at least three 180s on our drive over here. So, to make sure there were no one, no one following us. Trust me, we were not trailed.

I guarantee it. Okay, so you have the supplies, the toiletries, the goodies, the treats, the books, the Count of Monte Cristo, don’t forget that. Also, there’s a note from Julie and I, um, I tucked it into one of the other books. Oh. All right, I’ll look for that. Thank you. Thanks for all my supplies, and thanks for coming to see me.

I really miss you guys. We really miss you, too.

Could

you spend some time with me, Lucas?

Hopefully you’re going to be out of here. You’re gonna be out of here really soon. Yeah, well, I’m kind of nervous about that. Why? What do you mean? Well, this is all over. And Clyde’s out of the way, I mean, what happens? Do I go home, or do I go back to Statesville?

There. This covers all points we agreed upon. Uh, excuse me.

I’ll sign here.

You sign that.

Father would never approve of this. Oh, please. This is straight out of Father’s playbook. You thought you could handle Clyde Weston. You were wrong. You thought you could manage Harris Michaels. Wrong again. My help is the only option you have left, and this is what it costs.

It’s the 11th hour, Stefan. Time to wise up. Sign it.

There is another way. Okay, well, there isn’t. We have no choice. We’ve already established that, Steve. So, John, spill. How are we gonna pull this off? I gotta get back to the office. I need some hardware, huh? Yeah, I have an equipment list in mind. I’m gonna have to hit up some of our vendors. Okay, what can I do?

We are gonna need help from your family members if we’re gonna pull this off. Okay. I’ll make sure they’re at the ready. No, no, no, no,

no, no, no. They can’t, of course. Depends if they close the vents. Then that means we won’t be free. We have time. We have time. Time? How much time? I don’t know. But you do know it’s not that long, right? Okay, maybe it is four minutes. No, no, no. I can’t. We’re gonna be okay. Okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s okay.

Okay. He’s trying to stay calm now, okay? Okay. For God’s Drip, what we have to do, Is get the hell out of here. I know. We’re gonna die. We’re gonna die. We can’t We can’t

Recap written by Suzanne

Cyrus visits Laura (at her request). She quizzes him about his questioning O’Neill last week at Pentonville. He was afraid of some guy named Stone that everyone thinks is dead. Laura presses him for more info, but he gets offended that she doesn’t trust him. She seems shocked that he is so angry about that. Ace cries, so she goes to him. They take Ace to GH because he has a fever.

Elizabeth and Portia tend to Heather Webber, who is a patient at GH for hip pain. She wants them to take off the cuffs, but they’re wise to her tricks. When Heather is wheeled in (on her way to get an MRI), she starts yelling at Cyrus and Laura. They quickly leave with the baby. Cyrus asks Portia how Curtis is doing, but she tells him off again. He is frustrated that she still holds his past against him. Later, Laura and Cyrus wait for Ace’s tests and share a close moment. She breaks down crying about the deaths of Esme and Spencer, so he holds her hand. Meanwhile, back in her room, Heather gets out a paper clip to pick the lock on her cuffs.

Brook Lynn and Tracy have a chat at the Quartermaine mansion about Deception. Brook Lynn confesses to Tracy that she had plotted to get rid of her at Deception and give Maxie and Sasha back their shares. Tracy is proud of her and tries to convince Brook Lynn to stay at Deception. Brook Lynn still just wants to work in music, not cosmetics. Tracy convinces her to stay and manage artists on the side. If Brook Lynn doesn’t enjoy running Deception, Tracy will sell her shares back to them. After Tracy says a bunch of nice things to her, Brook Lynn is touched to learn that Tracy enjoys hanging out with her and agrees to her terms. Brook Lynn asks Tracy about her relationship with Gregory, but she thinks he’s more interested in Alexis. She thinks Tracy should let him know how she feels.

Sonny meets with Selina in her warehouse. Ava is also there, and a few guards. Selina wants to have the poker game again, but Sonny says that she can’t do it at The Savoy. Just then, FBI, Dante and Anna burst in to investigate them all for RICO and racketeering violations. Wu, Sonny and Ava claim they’re just discussing setting up a legal Poker game. Anna and Sonny argue. A rooftop sniper shoots at them, so everyone hides behind something. Dante and Chase go to check out sniper. Ava wonders why Sonny is being cautious, but he says he’s not worried about himself. She thinks he means her, so she’s touched. Dante goes in pursuit of the suspects.

Jason and the sniper are on roof – both dressed in black; the sniper props the skylight open and gets his rifle ready to shoot. He aims at Sonny. Jason looks uncomfortable and then hits the sniper’s so he misses; then they run away. Dante stops them at the docks. Jason puts his arms up and then turns slowly as directed. Dante is shocked to see him. The sniper shoots Dante. Jason runs to Dante to help him. Snipe calls Jason “Jacobs” and says to leave him. Jason shoots the guy. He tells Dante that he’ll be allright and that he’s got him.

Jagger orders his men around. Anna thinks the sniper rifle was one stolen from WSB. Jagger thinks Sonny was the target, and Ava notices that Sonny has a bullet hole in his sleeve. Anna tells Chase to take Selina and her guards to the PCPD. She then yells at Sonny for trying to set up a trap for the shooter without them. Jagger tries to threaten Ava, but she points out that he should be protecting Sonny, the target. The all argue. Anna warns Sonny he’s in danger and should let them help him – he should share information. Chase returns, telling them that there’s no word yet on Dante.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Devon: Checking out the big office while billy’s gone?

Nate: Uh, my power grabs are behind me. Just dropping off some figures to support chance’s pitch.

Devon: Oh, yeah. Now, that music festival is a great idea. And it was a great idea back when you pitched it before, too. Just wasn’t the right time. But I definitely see the value in doing something like that right now.

Nate: Well, I hope you could say the same for billy some. Too bad he came at it so hard.

Devon: Yeah, I actually think he said no to it just because I said yes, if I’m being honest.

Nate: It’s the only thing that makes sense. He’s been pulling for chance in every other way. He’s really taken him under his wing.

Devon: Yeah, tell me about it. He asked if I would loop chance in on all executive decisions while he’s out of town.

Nate: Not the kind of thing you do if you have it out for the guy.

Mamie: Hmm. As far as I’m concerned, billy abbott is just getting too full of himself.

Nate: Okay, aunt mamie.

Mamie: No, no. Shooting down good ideas, trying to add the abbott name to the company? And now he’s just coming and going as he pleases. I mean, didn’t he just go out of town and leave work?

Devon: Yeah, he had personal issues to deal with, but we talked about it. It’s fine.

Mamie: Yeah, well, it’s clear to me he has more invested in the family business. It might be time for us to consider grooming chance to be our ally.

Nina: Sweetheart!

Chance: Hi. Thank you for making time for me on the way to new york.

Nina: Of course! I had to see you. Oh, my goodness. Well, I will just never get tired of seeing you in a suit.

Chance: You wanna pick up my dry-cleaning bill?

Nina: Yes, I will. Absolutely. Because it means you’ve been working in an office and not on a case. Oh, my gosh. I can’t tell you how relieved I am to know that the only injury you’ll be risking these days is a paper cut.

Chance: Oh, well, don’t be too sure, mom.

Nina: Yeah, well, office politics? You were kind of vague on the phone. Is everything okay?

Chance: Yeah, everything’s fine. I’m just getting used to the new job. You know, a lot to learn. Not just numbers and spreadsheets.

Nina: But you’re still liking it?

Chance: Sure.

Nina: Well, you know, you don’t have to say that just to appease me. If the corporate world isn’t for you–

Chance: Look, the work’s fine. It’s exciting at times, really.

Nina: Well, I can tell something’s got you down, so what? Are you sorry you resigned as police chief?

Chance: Well, let’s just say that c-suite players can be just as slippery as criminals.

Nikki: I am telling you, seth reaching out to me was not as innocent as I thought it was. Jordan put him up to it. I am certain of that. And I have her phone number. This is the opportunity we have been waiting for.

Victor: Well, then kindly take us through it again, because I wanna be absolutely certain this is not a trap.

Victoria: I agree, mom. We all know how devious jordan is.

Cole: What did seth say exactly?

Nikki: Okay, I met with him today at crimson lights and he kept mentioning this woman, isabel, from our aa meetings. And she used to be a friend of mine and then urged him to reconnect with me. Only I don’t know anybody named isabel.

Cole: And she– she matches jordan’s description?

Nikki: Well, not the way he described her, but she does like disguises, so I don’t know.

Victor: Sweetheart, that’s exactly why I don’t want you to leave the ranch. That seth guy could have led jordan right to you.

Nikki: But he didn’T. And since I told him I don’t know any isabel, he is as suspicious as I am.

Cole: Does he know where this isabel or jordan, does he know where she’s staying? Because if so, we’ll just call the cops and have them check it out.

Nikki: He just said that she approached him at a bar. He didn’t say which one.

Seth: Two more for the road. Now, tell me, what is the real story with you and nikki?

Jordan: I– I– I– I can’t believe that she said that she doesn’t remember me.

Seth: Not even a glimmer.

Jordan: She’s denying that we were even friends?

Seth: She says she’s never known an isabel.

Jordan: She hates me that much. I have let her down that much.

Seth: No, no, no. Maybe she just doesn’t remember. You said you guys partied a lot back in the day.

Jordan: Yeah, but this isn’t right. No, no. I– [ Exhales ] I changed my mind. I wanna see her. So please, call. Call nikki. Set up a meeting with her. Tell her that you wanna meet her somewhere private and out of the way, and I’ll join you. I need to look at her in the eyes. There’s no way she could have forgotten me. When you have chronic kidney disease…

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by… -you got this buddy.

-During an asthma attack,

Jordan: I’m sure that once nikki sees me, she’ll recognize me. It’ll all come flooding back to her.

Seth: I’m sure you’re right. I’m sure it will come flooding back. Especially after she sees you out of that cheap wig.

Jordan: Excuse me?

Seth: I didn’t really notice it at first, but it’s kind of obvious, really.

Jordan: You know, it’s rather impolite to comment on a woman’s appearance.

Seth: Hey, cut the crap, isabel. You’re not nikki newman’s long-lost friend. You’re the monster who kidnapped her and forced vodka into her veins. You’re the reason that she fell off the wagon.

Jordan: I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Maybe you’ve had one too many.

Seth: Oh, come on. You think a couple of drinks is enough to get an old professional drinker like me sloshed? That’s just another sign that you’re not who you say you are. Yeah, that and that little act of you throwing the drink in the bus car.

Jordan: I don’t have to listen to this.

Seth: You are despicable. You’re not going anywhere.

Nikki: I asked seth to string isabel along to buy us a little time, but I don’t think should wait on this.

Victor: Well, I’m not gonna rely on seth, okay? I’m gonna call my security and the cops, and don’t do anything until I get back.

Victoria: Mom, are you okay? I cannot believe how this woman continues to find ways to get to us.

Cole: It’s outrageous. The fact that she infiltrated your aa group?

Nikki: Well, luckily, I figured out her game before she could do any real damage.

Victoria: Well, let’s hope so, but you still seem really shaken up right now.

Claire: I think I know another reason why nikki’s upset. Me. Having me out of the hospital and living in your home, it must be unnerving. I’m sorry.

Nikki: No, you shouldn’t feel that way. You’re family. You’re welcome here.

Claire: I appreciate you saying that, but there’s no way that you aren’t still furious about what jordan and i put you through. And pretending that those feelings don’t exist, it’s not healthy for any of us.

Nina: Who’s being slippery? No, seriously, I want names.

Chance: Stand down, mom, all right? It’s nothing like that, but I do feel like I’m caught in some sort of power play between billy and devon.

Nina: Over what? It seems like they both have plenty of power there.

Chance: Yeah, well, I think devon resents that jill brought billy into a high-level position without consulting him.

Nina: They’ve worked together in the past. I mean, why do you say that?

Chance: Well, you know how billy’s been mentoring me?

Nina: Yeah, yeah, you said it was going good.

Chance: Yeah, it has. I was a little hesitant at first, but he’s been great. He’s been showing me the ropes. He’s invited me to meetings. He’s answering my questions. It’s good. The other day, I pitched this pretty big idea, right? And devon liked it.

Nina: Good.

Chance: Well, it was, until billy saw that devon showed interest. And then billy had this, like, about face. You know, he basically dismissed my proposal right there, right in front of everyone.

Nina: Oh, that was pretty rotten of him. Must have stung.

Chance: Well, it’s not the rejection I’m worried about. I don’t care. You know, I nearly died in the field. I mean, I can handle somebody turning down my proposal. I just don’t wanna be used. I don’t wanna be a pawn in whatever this is brewing between the two.

Nina: Can you talk to billy about it?

Chance: I tried. And he denied it all. And get this. He just left town on a personal matter. Made me his eyes and ears.

Nina: So, he shoots down your idea and then wants you to report back to him?

Chance: Puts me right in the middle. I feel like I’m working undercover again. You know, I’m spying on the people I’m supposed to be in with.

Nina: So, what do you want to happen here?

Chance: I gotta figure out how to play this, you know? I guarantee this isn’t the last time somebody asked me to pick sides.

Nina: You know, you don’t have to stay there if you don’t want to.

Chance: Whoa. That’s a 180. What happened? I thought you liked me in the suit.

Nina: No, I love the suit. Keep the suit. Just, um, leave the job if you need to. I mean, believe me, I want you behind a desk. I don’t want you in the field. But there are other places that you can do that. I want you safe and I want you happy. Just because your name is chancellor doesn’t mean you have to work there. I mean, it’s your birthright, but the choice has to be yours.

Chance: Yeah, I guess you’re right. I could always leave. Or I could stay. Turn things to my advantage.

Devon: I don’t think it’s a good idea to use chance as part of some backroom maneuver.

Mamie: Billy and jill don’t have any qualms with it. It is very clear that they’re grooming him.

Nate: He’s a chancellor. It makes sense.

Devon: I understand that, but there’s enough tension as it is between me and billy without using chance as a pawn. And I like chance and his ideas.

Mamie: Well, then all the more reason to have him on our side.

Devon: Well, it doesn’t help when you talk about sides like that either.

Mamie: Billy abbott doesn’t belong here, devon. You know that. I know it. I have no doubt that he is scheming how he can wrest more power from you. But you know what? He can’t help it. It’s just the way that he thinks. He’s always been a gambler at heart. He’s always trying to figure out how he can get over on someone. How he can get the better hand.

Amanda: I don’t think it’s fair to say that billy’s the one with power on his mind. Wow. This must be the famous mamie johnson. It is my honor to meet you. (Hamlet) it’s beggin’!

Mamie: Ms. Sinclair.

Amanda: Please, call me amanda.

Mamie: I can do that. I heard that you were visiting genoa city.

Amanda: Yeah, jill asked me to come since she has other commitments.

Mamie: Oh, now, honey, you can be more straight with us than that. She sent you here to spy.

Devon: Okay. Hey, you know what? Nate and I actually have some things we need to go over.

Nate: Maybe we can all get together some other time.

Amanda: No, but I always wanted to meet your aunt. It’s not just anyone who can take on jill abbott.

Mamie: Oh, now, maybe we should go somewhere and get some drinks.

Devon: No, you definitely don’t need to do that, mamie.

Mamie: But I want to, devon. I have a message that I’d like to give to amanda to pass on to her boss.

Amanda: Intriguing. That’s exciting. What kind of message?

Mamie: Call it a proposition. One that might put this imaginary battle behind us.

Chance: Devon and billy, they’re distracting. So, this is a great opportunity for me to prove I’m above all that.

Nina: Oh, I don’t think I like the sound of this. I thought my days of worrying about you were over. It sounds to me you’re putting yourself smack dab in the middle of a fight.

Cole: Listen, we all still have feelings about what happened, but we’ve been working through those.

Victoria: If my mom says you’re welcome here, she means it.

Nikki: But you’re right, claire. Anger doesn’t begin to describe how I feel about what your aunt is continuing to do to all of us. And yes, you are a reminder of that.

Victoria: Mom!

Claire: No. It’s okay. I want to hear this.

Nikki: More and more, when I look at you, I see victoria. Her strength. Her intelligence. And I am determined to get to the point where I won’t think about your aunt when you walk into the room. Because I am not going to let her have that kind of power over me. And I am so pleased that your recovery is such that a judge approved your release.

Claire: Thank you. And I promise you, all of you, I will not make you regret that.

Nikki: This is your home now. For as long as necessary.

Claire: Now, what do I need to do about my aunt jordan?

Jordan: I need some air. You bought me a lot of drinks. Not all of them got dumped.

Seth: Yeah, I was trying to get you sloshed. Get you to slip up, admit something, but you’re tough nut to crack.

Jordan: Fine. You got me. I lied about knowing nikki as well as I claimed. We’re not best friends. But I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Kidnapping? Forcing vodka into her veins? That’s insane.

Seth: Sure is.

Jordan: Who the hell would do something like that? Because it sure as hell wasn’t me.

Seth: Well, there’s an easy enough way to find out. We’ll just go meet with nikki, like you asked, and her husband, victor. And you know what? We’ll throw in a couple of cops for good measure, just in case our suspicions about you are correct. And if you’re telling the truth, then the laugh’s on me. Sound like a plan? Dry skin is sensitive skin, too.

Nate: I don’t know how much patience I have left with aunt mamie. She is determined to drive a wedge between the chancellors and the winters. Create a problem where there is none.

Devon: I mean, I know she’s stirring things up, but I don’t know if I’d go as far as to say there’s a wedge between us.

Nate: Look, I agree, billy coming on board drew a line that didn’t exist while lily was here. Yes.

Devon: Now, you are right about that, ’cause I never felt like it was us versus them until jill brought billy in. And I do agree with what mamie says about billy. I think that he does want more control and more power.

Nate: Look, I am all for keeping our eyes on billy, but the man left town to deal with personal matters with all this going on. That doesn’t sound like a man on a power-grabbing mission.

Devon: Well, I don’t have a big problem with him taking personal time for himself, but I do think he wants to have it all. And I think he enjoys being able to sit in an office like this and do what he wants to do and leave when he wants to leave. Whereas, you take chance, you know, and it just feels like already, he’s a little more committed to the business.

Nate: Are you saying you think mamie’s right? That we should cozy up to chance?

Devon: No, I’m saying that she’s not wrong in thinking that chance might make a good ally if things get messy.

Chance: Don’t worry, mom. I’m not looking for any trouble. I wanna do just the opposite. I wanna show that I’m the adult in the room, you know? Prove that I actually have the company’s best interests at heart, not my own.

Nina: Unlike devon and billy.

Chance: Exactly. And I think nate’s in the same position. I mean, he told me he was exactly where I am now. Putting out ideas and getting them shot down. So, maybe he’s the one I need to align with. I mean, I doubt he likes what’s going on between devon and billy.

Nina: Ugh, all this talk about alliances. I don’t know. Oh, mamie! Hi! And amanda! It’s so nice to see you. Did you know amanda was in town?

Chance: I did.

Amanda: Yeah, going to chancellor-winters, it’s like old home week.

Nina: Chance was just saying how exciting it is to work at such an amazing company.

Amanda: Yeah, and jill is thrilled to have him, really.

Mamie: Devon and nate are always singing your praises. They said there’s a proposal, too that they’re very excited about. I’m looking forward to what you’re going to do in the future, young man. Well, we’re gonna leave you to your mother and son date you must be so proud. He’s brilliant. Handsome, too.

Nina: I am proud. Thank you so much.

Chance: You all are great for my ego, thank you.

Amanda: Nice to see you both.

Nina: Enjoy.

Mamie: You know, chance is quite a lovely man. I’m actually very impressed with how he and devon work well together.

Amanda: Oh, jill will be very happy to hear you say that.

Mamie: Yes, well, there is history, but adults learn how to let things go.

Amanda: Just like you let go of your old grudge against jill, right?

Chance: That is not good.

Nina: Why not?

Chance: Well, there’s no reason for those two to be meeting alone. Something’s up.

Mamie: What I feel about jill is not a grudge.

Amanda: Oh, I’m sorry. How would you describe it?

Mamie: Why don’t we have our drinks first? We’ll be nicer that way.

Claire: You got me out so I could help. I’m ready.

Victor: You’re right. Now that we have a possible phone number for jordan, it’s time for you to reach out.

Victoria: Are you sure you’re up to it? You don’t have to do this tonight.

Cole: Claire, talking to jordan isn’t gonna be easy. It’s bound to bring up a lot of feelings. I mean, you can wait till morning, get a good night’s sleep.

Victor: Cole, time is of the essence.

Nikki: If jordan is using seth to get to me, she clearly has a plan. Let’s take advantage of her slip-up here.

Claire: I agree. And I won’t be able to sleep anyway, not until this is over with. Maybe a phone call will give us a better idea of what she’s up to, and then victor will make sure that she can never torment us again.

Victor: You bet.

Jordan: Your grip is very strong. You’re hurting me. Please let me go.

Seth: Not unless you agree to meet with nikki and victor.

Jordan: Fine. But the laugh will be on you, so you better get ready to apologize.

Seth: We’ll see. Hey, where do you think you’re going?

Jordan: I’m gonna go get that air that I need.

Seth: Okay. All right, then we will go outside, and we can call nikki together.

Jordan: Really? Really? Is that necessary?

Seth: I’m not letting you out of my sight. Come on, after you.

Jordan: Go on, make the call. I’m looking forward to the reunion.

[ Engine revving ]

[ Jordan grunting ]

[ Car crashing ]

[ Jordan panting ] I would’ve called yesterday. it was just awful.

Jordan: Someone call 911! Oh, my god, there’s been an accident out there. It was just awful. It was awful. I tried to get him to stop and he just said he wanted it over. He wanted it to stop, and then he looked me right in the eye, and he said, “tell nikki newman that I’m sorry.” And then, he just walked right out in front of the car. He killed himself right in front of me.

Claire: Do you have that number?

Nikki: Yes.

Claire: No answer. It’s a voicemail. It says leave a message for isabel.

Victor: Hang up right now. Be patient. We cannot let her know we are on to her.

Cole: Claire, are you okay?

Victoria: You look disappointed.

Claire: I had psyched myself up that things might be finished soon. We could all get on with our lives, but I just wanna focus on the future. I can’t do that until jordan’s dealt with.

Nikki: Amen to that.

Nate: I’ve got to wonder if this is more about you and your need to always be in the middle of some corporate scuffle. Everyone talks about billy jonesing for a win, but maybe it’s you who needs the adrenaline hit.

Devon: Where is this coming from?

Nate: Think about it. First, lily. Then, it was with me, and now it’s happening all over again with billy. Three dierent battles, but you’re the constant.

Devon: I’m the constant. That’s how you really feel?

Nate: I’m just pointing out a pattern.

Devon: Okay. Well, let me point out that on all three of those occasions you just brought up, I was trying to protect the company, and more importantly, neil’s name and legacy. And if you recall, our biggest threat came from you. And then I forgave you and gave you a second chance by hiring you back here, and then you’re gonna stand in front of me and tell me I have an issue?

Nate: I am not trying to turn this into another fight.

Devon: What are you trying to do?

Nate: I just think the best way to protect the company and the winters’ ne is by focusing on the work. Let billy self-destruct. It’s what he does best. And when he does, we’ll be strong as ever.

Devon: And I’m all for doing that, but I’m not gonna turn a blind eye and let us become vulnerable.

Nate: If you wanna know the truth, I think the person we should be most concerned about is in our own family. Aunt mamie.

Mamie: Amanda, I’ve heard some really wonderful things about you over the years, from both devon and nate.

Amanda: Um, well, they both adore you. I’m sure you’re very happy to be spending so much time with them.

Mamie: Yes, I’m very fond of my great niece and nephews. And I’ve just recently come into a really different focus on my life right now. So, you know, family and tradition and legacy, those are all very important to me right now.

Amanda: You know, jill has been saying some of the same things. I think you two are more alike than you wanna admit.

Mamie: Yeah, well, jill and i can both get what we want, but not right now. I am proposing that we have a clear and concise redivision of chancellor-winters.

Amanda: I’m sorry. You want a divided chancellor-winters? You wanna undo the merger?

Mamie: Well, it’s more complicated than that, but yeah, uh-huh. That’s exactly what I’m saying. It’s time. So, you know, that’s the message I want you to give to her.

Amanda: With all due respect, jill would never agree. It would undermine and undo all of chancellor-winters advances. It would make leadership look weak and unstable. We would lose all public confidence.

Mamie: Okay, so we don’t do it in any public-facing way. We do it internally. The company remains a united front, but we do our paperwork to create clear internal boundaries. We work independently. We do our thing, you do yours.

Amanda: That would defeat the purpose of the merger.

Mamie: Which ultimately was a failed move.

Amanda: Again, jill would disagree with that assessment.

Mamie: Let’s all just get back to work and stop all of this infighting. Let’s just get back to what we all know how to do well.

Amanda: Hmm. Ms. Johnson, I have to ask, what do you get out of all of this?

Nina: Look over there. There are two brilliant, successful women who could easily be working together, but are clearly at odds. I mean, amanda’s stepping in for jill, right?

Chance: Yeah, basically.

Nina: Yeah, so it’s jill abbott versus mamie johnson. Cue the fireworks.

Chance: Well, that’s the business. That’s what I’m learning, anyways.

Nina: Ugh. All this posturing and politics. Two things I know you hate.

Chance: Yeah, true. But you know what? I do have one advantage. The line between right and wrong has always been clear to me, so if I just stick to my instincts, nobody can mess with me. Hi, I’m sally.

Nina: Well, I guess a corporate battle is still safer than a shootout.

Chance: There has been no blood, so far.

Nina: I just don’t want you to become so disillusioned that you change your mind about this career move. I need you to be safe, but I also want you to be happy. You know, no conflict, no drama.

Chance: Yeah, I know when to engage and when to back away.

Nina: Yeah, well, I know how jill can get when she’s in a fight, and if that’s where this is headed, it’s not gonna be easy.

Mamie: My one and only agenda is to protect my family, and right now, we are worried about jill and billy. When she put him back into position, it just destabilized everything. People didn’t know what their motives were. No. My plan puts an end to that threat and the doubts that it caused.

Amanda: Ms. Johnson, I see your logic and I do respect your motives.

Mamie: Now, you can be certain that jill will assume the worst. So, you be sure to give that idea your blessing when you fill her in on it.

Amanda: I could tell jill that it’s the most brilliant idea in the world, and still, it would be a resounding no.

Devon: Mamie is not the problem, billy is the problem, and the fact that you don’t see that makes me question where your loyalty lies.

Nate: So, we’re back to that, that I am the problem?

Devon: Did I say that? I just said billy is after you just accused me of being the problem.

Nate: I accused you of having a blind spot about your role in creating conflict.

Devon: I see. Well, either way, we’re not getting anywhere, are we? I think maybe we just need to wait and see what this proposition is that mamie has for jill.

Nate: And it doesn’t bother you that she didn’t discuss it with us first?

Claire: I just said I won’t be able to sleep, but now I’m so tired.

Victoria: I know. This day has been so much for you. Why don’t we take you upstairs so you can at least try to get some rest, and we’ll make that call again tomorrow.

Cole: Your mom’s right. Listen, I’m gonna take off too, and I’m gonna check in with you first thing in the morning, okay?

Victoria: I’ll show you to your room. Come on.

Nikki: Good night.

Claire: Sleep well, sweetheart.

Cole: Have a good night.

Victor: See you, cole.

Nikki: It’s a miracle that victoria got her daughter back.

Victor: All the more reason we put an end to this jordan threat.

Nikki: I was hoping I would have heard back from seth with an update.

Victor: Any response?

Nikki: No. What if I’m wrong? I mean, what if this is just a woman named isabel and I forgot about her?

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: I don’t think you’re wrong. What we’ll do is we’ll proceed with my original plan. We will stage a photo shoot in front of victoria’s house. The whole group. That way jordan will think that is where claire lives.

Nikki: Between that and the news item you planted, when jordan sees that claire has been released to our care, she won’t be able to help herself.

Victor: And we have got jordan right where we want her.

[ Jordan panting ] Why don’t you come and join us?

Amanda: It was nice seeing the two of you.

Nina: Oh wait, amanda, why don’t you come and join us?

Amanda: Um, yeah, sure, I will.

Nina: Good. So, I guess you’re meeting with all the heavy hitters at chancellor-winters while you’re in town?

Amanda: Uh, yes. Jill has me taking care of a few things for her, but I am happy to do it.

Nina: And I suppose you know about jill and mamie’s eternal feud.

Amanda: Some. I think I understand it a little more now. There are only two choices when people are that much alike. Best friends or mortal enemies.

Nina: Oh, right? Nailed it.

Chance: I think they actually respect each other and they just enjoy sparring.

Amanda: Yeah, don’t tell your grandmother that.

Nina: Oh, god, no.

Mamie: Oh good, you’re both still here.

Devon: Well, I assume that you came back because you had something to report about your conversation with amanda?

Mamie: I do.

Devon: And was it a business proposition that you gave her?

Mamie: It was.

Devon: So you’re gonna talk to us about drawing lines in the sand and then go send a proposition to jill before discussing with us first?

Mamie: Oh, honey, I was just merely testing amanda out. I threw her a line to see if she would bite.

Nate: And did she?

Mamie: Well, she saw my point of view, but she was sure that jill would just turn me down flat. Oh, well. It would have been nice if we’d been able to hash this out as two old friends, but, you know, this less peaceful way suits me just fine.

Victor: I’m gonna go and make you a cup of tea.

Nikki: Oh, thank you, darling. That’s so sweet.

[ Phone ringing ] This is nikki newman. Who is this?

Padilla: This is officer padilla, gcpd, calling about seth morgan.

Nikki: Has something happened?

Padilla: I’m sorry to tell you there’s been a hit and run. Mr. Morgan didn’t survive.

Nikki: Oh, my god. Oh, my god.

Padilla: Witness told the bartender he stepped in front of the car on purpose.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

I cannot wait to tell youand show you the progress I’ve been makingat physical therapy. Yeah, I’m getting some of my moves back.

[ Footsteps approaching ]

[ Chuckles ] Yeah, okay. Me too, honey. See you soon. Is trina here?

[ Sighs ] No. No, pop. She went out. I know you’re worried about her, son, but you give trina some time. She’s been through a lot, but it is true what they say — time does heal all wounds. Says the man who oughta know. Did you tell him? Tell me what?

[ Clears throat ] Oh. Sorry. No. Were you praying? Just thinking. How’s my little nephew? We are waiting for the test results. Yeah. Um, but kevin was here with a patient, so, um, he’s with him now. Ace has been so brave. He takes after his grandma. You know something? You can actually be sweet when you want to be.

[ Laughs ] I know your surprise is justified by my behavior, but it still stings just a little. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for the people I love, and there’s no limit to what I will do to anyone who tries to hurt them. Copy that. I’ll be returning to pentonville with the prisoner immediately.

[ Engine revving ] Dex, we’re not gonna get there any faster if you get pulled over for speeding. I’ll keep it to 10 over. Hey. I want to get there just as badly as you do. From what michael said, all hell is about to break loose and he does not exaggerate. It has to be connected to whoever was trying to take sonny out in puerto rico. Yeah, and that means whoever’s around him is in danger. Let’s try this again, sonny. Why are you here tonight? Please don’t say it was because you were setting up a card game with selina wu. Am I under arrest? Is — is ava under arrest? No. Not at this time. Okay. Then we are under no obligation to stay. John: This is a federal investigation, which means I can hold the two of you up to 48 hours without charging you. In fact, I don’t have to hold you at the pcpd. I can have you transported to an fbi facility. Sonny, I know you’ve been to one recently. How about you, ms. Jerome? You might benefit from the experience. You okay with this, anna? He’s threatening to take ava into federal custody. On what grounds? ‘Cause she’s standing next to me? Agent cates has the authority to investigate this case however he sees fit. This has nothing to do with any case! Tell them what it has to do with, jagger. It has to do with karen wexler.

[ Coughs ]

[ Groans and coughs ]

[ Breathing shakily ] Jason — no, no. Don’t talk, don’t talk.

[ Groans ] I’m gonna help you. Yeah, I’m on pier 55. A man’s been shot twice in the chest. Dante. Hey, dante. He just passed out. Get the paramedics here now.

Drew just tucked scout in her bed, and she fell asleep right away.

[ Laughs ] She was exhausted, but she kept saying how she was so excited that she had this birthday party. Well, you can always tell the success of a party by how much cake you find all over the house hours later. Oh, no, no, no. She was telling him that the cake — she loved it, the gifts. And she loved most of all that her dad threw her the party. Aw, after all the time he spent away from her, I bet drew enjoyed the party more than the scout did, right? Oh, he fell asleep reading her “the ugly duckling” for, like, the millionth time, and I didn’t have the heart to wake him. You know, I — actually, I remember that — that was dante’s favorite book, too. You know, I swear to god, I read that book to him so many times, it was like I could recite the thing by heart. I was always trying to skip over the pages to get to the end quicker, and you know what? He always caught me, every single time. Mm!

[ Laughs ] His first little detective work.

[ Laughs ] I love it. Dante’s so brave and solid. I just — I can’t picture in my head. I-I think I always forget that he was a little boy, too, once. Ah, he’s been through a lot, but he’s still that same sweet little kid that used to bring me flowers home from school. I mean, turns out they were mr. Coletti’s prize roses, but I digress.

[ Both laugh ] I love seeing my son happy. I’m so glad he found you. I am so glad that we found each other.

[ Chuckles ] I’m gonna call brick and see if he knows where sonny is. You really think brick’s gonna give you any information about sonny? Well, I’ll try. I’ll explain, and hopefully he’ll understand. Hey, brick, it’s joss. Do you know where sonny is? I — wait. Are you su– yeah. Okay. What is it? I’m looking right now. A police scanner in port charles is reporting gunfire on the waterfront. Authorities are looking to lock down the whole area. It’s gotta be sonny. What are you doing? You’re getting off at the next exit.

[ Scoffs ] Call a rideshare and go home. I’ll call you when I know more. Okay, forget it. I am not leaving you. I’d feel a lot better if I knew you were safe. But we don’t have time to argue about this. Good. Then we’ll stick to the plan, and we’ll go into port charles together. We are investigating attempts on your life and a possible connection to a larger conspiracy. Maybe that’s why the fbi sent you. But that’s not why

you’re here, jagger. Why — why are you calling him that? Oh, back in the day, his name was john. And then it was too ordinary, so he — he needed a cooler name, so he named himself jagger. And he had a girlfriend named karen wexler. I told you to keep her name out of your mouth! Thank you for proving my point. See, he hates me for what he thinks I did to — oh, I don’t think. I know. I had a front-row seat. So why don’t you tell ’em, sonny? You tell them what you did. No, jagger,

you tell ’em. I never claimed to be a saint. Far from it. You know that better than anyone, laura. But I do hope you know that my attempts to change are genuine. You do seem to be trying. Being a part of a family, of — of your family, has filled a void in my life that I didn’t even know existed. And I know I haven’t been trustworthy in the past, but I hope you believe me when I say that spending time with you has made me a better man. I know that there’s goodness in you. I’ve always known it, no matter how deeply you tried to bury it, but… words are not enough, even words quoted from the good book. Then tell me how I can prove myself to you. I can’t do the work for you. You need to figure that out yourself. Okay. But I will say this — I am very grateful to you for tonight, for helping me to get ace to the hospital quickly. Oh, I am so glad that I was there. Me too. I just hope you can keep him away from his other grandmother. Heather webber will be going back to pentonville, so she will not be able to get close to ace ever again. Look s like the warden’s out of patience.

[ Groans ] Time for you to go home. Your cell is waiting for you. Well, but wait. I-I-I’m still in so much pain! Doesn’t the doctor have to okay my release? I don’t know. That’s above my pay grade. I’m just following orders. Oh, but honey, the pain in my hip is really unbearable.

[ Gasps ] You don’t like to see an old woman suffer, do you?

[ Whimpers ] Honey, I am so parched. The — the nurse just left my water right out of reach. Could you pl– please? Right there. Okay, okay, okay, fine. And then we’re out of here. Ah! Come on!

[ Grunts ]

You’ll be fine. Oh! [ Chuckles ] I am seriously out of shape. I need more yard time. Okay. I don’t know why people are so nervous around cyrus renault. I think his radio show is very inspiring. That’s because you don’t know his history in port charles. That man is bad news. I just hope that lightning doesn’t strike the chapel while cyrus is in there praying for that adorable little nephew of his.

[ Scoffs ] Start praying for yourself, cyrus. So, are you saying that portia was on the right track when she suggested that you were misdiagnosed all those years ago? Son, your wife — she is an excellent physician and a very perceptive woman. Your father’s been off his meds for an entire year at this point without any symptoms. It seems obvious that he never suffered from schizophrenia at all. Hmm. Uh, that’s great news. Pop, um, you’ve had this information for a while now. How come you didn’t tell me when you first found out? You had some other things going on in your life, son. And, truthfully, I… I felt like a fool. I ran out on my wife and family, left you and tommy with no father, and all for nothing. I should have handled it all so, so differently. Well, pop, the past is the past. And you did what you thought was right at the time. But you’re here now. Now, I know it doesn’t make up for all those lost years, but at least you don’t have a schizophrenia diagnosis hanging over your head. It feels like I’ve traded one sword for another, since I still don’t actually know what was wrong with me. Well, uh, you want some? I know how much you wanted to get to the bottom of this, so I have been requesting old records and putting together a list of the revolving door of doctors who treated you for schizophrenia. Did you find anything? Actually, I did. I was able to find the signature of the so-called specialist that signed off on your father’s diagnosis. After all these years? Mm-hmm. This is great. Pop, this is great. So now we just — we track down that doctor and we get the answers we need. Pop, I know there’s something you want to tell aunt stella? Thanks. But no thanks. Yes. Yeah. He’s still breathing. Wh– what’s the eta on the paramedics? Okay, well, he can live if they get here in time.

[ Sighs ] Come on, dante, just hold on. You can make it.

[ Siren wailing ] Okay, good. They’re coming. Hey, you can make it. Karen was my high school girlfriend. She was smart. And she was ambitious. And she was beautiful. She was a survivor of childhood sexual abuse.

[ Sighs ] She repressed the memories, but it… it messed with her emotionally. Enter sonny. See, he owned a strip club called paradise lounge, and he convinced karen that she could empower herself, that she could take charge of her life… by stripping. Did I mention she was underage? Did you know that, sonny? Yeah, I did. Now, I will admit, sonny didn’t force her. He persuaded her. And when she got nervous about getting out there on that stage, he gave her drugs. And then in the end… …you slept with her. That’s the man you’re standing next to, ms. Jerome. And that’s the man you’ve been defending, anna.

30 years ago, I did own a nightclub called the paradise lounge. And it’s true, I befriended karen. She — she was curious about dancing, and I encouraged her, and — and I regret it 150%. And if I — if I had to do it all over again, I would do it totally different. Karen… was abused. And she was hurt and she was acting out. That’s how she made her way to me, because she needed somewhere to go. And I don’t care if you believe me or not, but I was there to help her. By sleeping with her? By giving her drugs? No, by listening to her, by understanding what it’s like to be a young kid, powerless, and you — you can’t stop somebody from hurting you! There’s a lot you don’t know about karen. And that’s the real reason you hate me, jagger. You are like the pied piperfrom hell, sonny. You find these damaged kids and you pretend to save them, when really you’re just exploiting them. That’s what you did to karen! And you did it to stone.

[ Siren wailing ] Dante? Hey, hey. Okay. It’s joss. It’s joss. We’re gonna help you. Someone did a field dressing. Well, we have to do something else. It’s a chest wound. From the way he’s breathing, the lung is collapsed. We need to plug these holes so the lung doesn’t collapse more. Okay, okay. Come on, come on, come on. Wait. Someone’s on the phone. Operator? Hello? Yeah, I’m on pier 55. A man has been shot. No, there’s nobody else here. He’s alone. Yeah, I can hear the sirens. How long until the paramedics get here? They need to hurry. Hey, honey, thanks for sticking around to help me clean up. Yeah, of course. It was the least I could do. After all, you helped throw scout’s party. Aw. The smile on her little face was thanks enough.

[ Laughs ] That and the gigantic chunk of cake I got stashed in the fridge for later. Um, I’m actually — I’m gonna go. Okay. And if scout wakes up, have drew handle her. Uh-huh. I, um… I don’t want to impose on their time together. Well, has that been a thing? I mean, are you — you guys are getting along, aren’t you? You know what? You know what? Ah! Olivia, shut your mouth. Just mind your own business. Just tell me to butt out. No, no, no. It’s okay, it’s okay. Um… no one ever said co-parenting was gonna be easy. Aw. Drew and I had our first disagreement over what’s best for scout. Right. Well, honey, that’s very normal. That’s gonna happen. You know, the stories that I could tell you about me and ned — I mean, two big personalities, and we butt heads all the time about what’s best for leo. But then at the end of the day, you know, talk it out, kiss and make up. Not that — I’m not telling you to kiss drew, but I’m just — no, I know.

[ Laughs ] Yeah, I totally understand what you’re saying. I-I don’t want you to think that there’s friction between me and drew, because there isn’T. It’s not like that. Okay. The truth is, ever since drew came out of pentonville, something happened in there that changed everything about him. Well, I wish I could say that i don’t have experience with that, but unfortunately I do. You know, when — when dante came back with the ptsd, it was like he was a different person. You know, after the torture and the brainwashing, it was like — it was like the boy that I raised was just out of reach. I guess we’re really lucky that dante was strong and brave enough to come back to us. Luck had nothing to do with it, all right? My boy went through hell, and I didn’t think there was any way he was ever coming back. And then you came along.

[ Cellphone chimes ] It’s elizabeth. Cyrus: Good news, I hope? Uh, yes, as a matter of fact, it is.

[ Laughs ] Ace has a really nasty ear infection. He’s going to need a strong antibiotic, but after that, he’s gonna be fine. Oh, then my prayers have been answered. Does this mean you get to take him home tonight? Uh, yeah. I just want to fill this prescription while they’re getting him ready to be discharged. Is he old enough for lollipops? Because he probably deserves at least a couple for being so brave, don’t you think?

[ Laughs ] Well, I mean, if not a lollipop, I-I would say that he does deserve some sort of a treat. Ah. You kn ow, I-I really likehow you are when you’re thinking about what’s best for ace. Really, it’s like — like you are — you’re really learning how to be part of a family. Ah. That really means a lot coming from you. Uh, just please, uh, keep me informed how the little guy is doing, okay? I will. Thanks. Ah. Thank you, god.

[ Door opens ] Forget something? Never!

What are you doing here? Uh, what does anybody come to a place like this for? You’re a man of god now. You should know. I’m here to pray. And what do you pray for? An answer. Ah. Well, the lord is always willing to enlighten us. What’s your question? I want to know why a old, lying, bankrupt weasel like yourself gets to go on living while my sweet esme is dead. Does that seem fair to you? Don’t even try it! Oh, poof!

[ Laughs ] Isn’t she a beauty? It’s amazing what you can find in a hospital, the tools they have to fix people.

[ Laughs ] And then… the other things that you could do with them. Ha! Ah. Whoo! I want you to suffer, old man, the way my esme suffered! Stone was my brother. No! Stone was my brother. He was a street kid you took in to run your errands, and when everything blew up with karen, when you were busted for underage talent, stone became your ticket to respectability. You couldn’t be more wrong, jagger. You were lower than dirt in port charles before stone redeemed you. And suddenly you were sonny corinthos, mobster with a heart of gold, philanthropist. Who cares about his criminal record? All anybody could talk about was how good you were to my brother. I loved your brother, and you know that! Maybe you did. Maybe every moment you spent with stone was sincere, but it still worked to your benefit. You’re a shrewd investor, sonny, and this paid off for you in spades, especially with stone’s girlfriend. Robin treated you like a benefactor. She practically canonized you to the city of port charles, and to her mother. That’s the real reason you defend sonny. Because she loves him. Because he was there when stone died. And you weren’T. Are you quite finished, agent cates? So let me get this straight, pop. You don’t want to find the doctor that misdiagnosed you? That mistake cost you your family, your future. It won’t change anything, son. It can’t give me back the years, not the time I lost with irene and you and tommy. There’s no getting that back. My focus needs to be on the life I have now. I thought I made that clear. You did. And I heard every word. But that was your pain talking, the regrets you feel. And I don’t want to add to that. It’s just the opposite, actually. You have been suffering as a prisoner of someone else’s mistake for 40 years! This is your chance to set yourself free. Aunt stella’s right, pop. I know you’re scared, but I will tell you words that you told me when I found myself in this chair. You’re not alone. I miss mom. I miss tommy. But you got me. This is right up my alley. Use my skills. We can pick up the thread aunt stella started, and we could follow it anywhere it takes us, and we can finally put the past where it belongs — in the past. Your son is a smart man. Listen to him, marshall. Pop, let me do this with you, okay? Let me help you — let me help you get these answers. Paramedics are on their way. I can hear the sirens. Just hold on. Who would bandage him up and then leave him? I don’t know. I don’t know what to do. Dante! How bad is he? From the amount of blood, it looks like multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. But we haven’t removed the pressure bandage, so we can’t be sure. I can’t find any other injuries. Okay. Uh, paramedics are on their way. I’m not getting a pulse.

[ Sirens wailing ]

Oh, no, I’m still not getting a pulse. Oh, my god. Paramedics have to be close. Okay, chase, take over for dex with putting pressure on the wound. I will do rescue breathing after you do chest compressions. Okay? Come on, dante, stay with us. We need you, man. Come on, dante. We’re almost there. We’re almost there. I cannot take credit for dante’s recovery. Oh, not all of it, no. I mean, he had to do the hard part himself, but… but you were a big part of that, sam. I mean, after everything he went through with the wsb, I’ll tell you, seeing him talk about you — and you guys weren’t even a couple then, by the way — it was the first time I ever saw that spark back in his eye, you know, the old dante. It was the first time I allowed myself to hope that everything might be okay. You never told me that. No, well, I’m telling you now, ’cause I know how happy you make my son. I am so grateful for you. I’m so grateful for your place in his life. I actually feel like the lucky one.

[ Laughs ] Because dante was a bigger man and he was brave and he was able to fight those demons. Yeah. And he got that strength from you. My son was at the lowest point in his life, and he needed something to live for. And falling in love with you

[Chuckles] Was a big part of that. Hmm. So, long overdue — thank you, sam. Thank you for giving me my son back. Come on, dante. Hang in there. The paramedics are almost here. Where the hell are they?

[ Vehicle doors slamming ] Hey, we’re back here! I got a pulse. Oh, my god! Hurry! My partner’s been shot. He’s got multiple bullet wounds to the chest that we know of. We lost his pulse, but we did chest compressions and rescue breathing.

[ Indistinct radio chatter ] The two of you may have just saved his life. Yeah, I hope so. Were you the ones who bandaged him?No, we found him like that. His legs were elevated, and the sweatshirt was tied around him like a pressure bandage. And whoever it was called 911. The operator was still on the phone when we got here. I am here for a job, but the job is not to take sonny down. That’s your job, commissioner devane, and I look forward to seeing you do it. If I find sonny or anyone else conducting a criminal enterprise, then I will use every legal means at my disposal to bring them to justice. Wonderful. Now that you both have declared your mission statements, you can get back to your investigation…[ Cellphone beeps ] …And sonny and I will get out of your way. One second. I have to go see one of the csi personnel. Ms. Jerome, mr. Corinthos, I’m gonna have to ask the two of you to stick around a little longer. How long are you gonna let him drag this out? I’m not letting him do anything. He has a case to work, and he has the authority to work it. After the show he just put on? Cates can’t be objective. He shouldn’t be anywhere near this case.

[ Cellphone beeps ] Excuse me. Oh, I-I have to take this. For what it’s worth, I believe you. What do you mean? About karen. I believe you, that you were trying to help her. Thank you. But cates never will, and an fbi agent with a grudge is a bad enemy to have. We’re in a place of god, heather.

[ Laughs ] Please, just put the saw down. Yeah. I-I don’t think so. I want you to listen to me! And I want you to admit what you’ve done. This little baby — it’s gonna help me make sure that that just happens. My esme came to you desperate and alone, and all she wanted was for you to help her. It — it would have been so easy for you to do that, but you didn’t! Instead, you betrayed her. I know that’s how it looks to you, but I was only trying to prevent — to prevent something bad from happening. Yeah, so you said. But you didn’t! You didn’t! And my little girl died all alone, fighting for her last breath! Just imagine the terror she felt, the sheer panic as she fought to keep afloat as that current pulled her under! I didn’t want that. Nobody did. Oh, how convenient that you say that now that my little girl is dead! But I will avenge her. I’ll avenge her, and I will become the mother to her son that she never got the chance to be. And, unfortunately, you will not be alive to see it. Aaah!

[ Thud ] Oh.

[ Panting ] Oh.

[ Gasps ]

There’s another problem. Just one? Spinelli planted surveillance cameras all over the warehouse, and if the fbi finds them, they’re gonna trace it to spinelli, and they’re gonna confiscate all the footage that happened tonight. Including shooters on the roof. Right. I can’t let jagger see that footage before I do. So they’re gonna detain me here probably like 48 hours. They’re not gonna detain you. You need to get a hold of dean, have him take you to spinelli’s, and get that footage. You’re trusting me?

[ Door opens ] Well, I don’t –[ Footsteps approaching ] Sonny? Yeah. I have a squad car waiting to take us to the hospital. Okay.

[ Door closes ] Dante’s en route to E.R. He’s been shot. He’s in critical condition. You’d do that for me? I’d do anything to help you, pop. But I have to admit, I’d be doing it for all of us. The whole family was affected by your diagnosis for decades. And now, thanks to aunt stella, we got a signature and a starting point. And with your son’s expertise, you should be able to find that doctor and finally know the truth. Mm-hmm. I see. It’s two against one. Talk about stacking the deck. So, um, is that a yes?

[ Laughs ] With my son by my side, I cannot lose. Hitting me over the head was a little extreme, don’t you think?

[ Chuckles ] You could have killed me, laura. You mean, before you killed me? Minor detail. You left me no choice, heather. But I’m glad you’re okay. Now there’s the laura webber that I remember. You were so sweet back in the day. It’s laura collins now. You can take her away. Just make sure they check her out for a concussion. Oh, wait. Oh! She doesn’t look well. I did hit her pretty hard. Do you think something’s really wrong with her? I doubt it. She’s probably trying to escape again. I wouldn’t believe anything that woman says or does.

[ Heather gasps ]

[ Breathing heavily ] Wait! Hold on. I-I-I can’t —

[ Gasps ] I can’t breathe.

[ Gasping and wheezing ] So, can I be a little bit nosy here? And please, please, please tell me just to mind my own business and butt out if it’s too much. But, uh, you know, since you and dante seem to be so happy together, spending so much time together, I don’t know, any chance you’re thinking of making it official? Things are going great between dante and I, but I think we like things the way they are right now. Okay, okay. Fair enough. You can’t blame a mother for trying, though, right? True.

[ Laughs ]

[ Knock on door ] Yeah. Hi.Oh, you’re a little late for the party, I think. What’s going on? Um, we just came from the pier. Dante’s been shot. Tell csi to tear this place apart. We need to know if there’s any others like this here. These cameras are state-of-the-art. The surveillance was obviously part of sonny and selina’s plan. I need to know what network these cameras are running on, what’s on that footage, and most importantly, who’s got it.

[ Panting ]

Steffy: I’ll do it!

Sheila: No!

Cleaner: Ma’am? Are you okay?

Steffy: What?

Cleaner: I’m sure this is a very difficult time for you, but… you really can’t be alone. Is your husband home?

Steffy: No. My husband’s not here.

Steffy: She’s gone, finn. Sheila’s dead. It was either her or me. I didn’t– I didn’t have time to think. I just– I just reacted. I– I had to survive.

Li: I can’t believe it. Sheila carter’s actually dead?

Eric: How’s steffy holding up?

Ridge: You know her. She’s strong, resilient.

Eric: No, yeah. But something like this.

Donna: Yeah, I can’t even imagine what it must have been like for steffy, to…

Eric: What an ordeal for her to have to go through. That she had to do what she had to do. Wow. Sheila carter’s finally dead.

Pathologist: Can I help you?

Deacon: Yeah, yeah, I’m deacon sharpe. I’m here to pay my respects to sheila carter.

Donna: It’s just so hard to believe.

Eric: Sheila carter’s finally out of our lives.

Ridge: The paramedics confirmed it. Sheila’s dead.

Pathologist: Since the police investigation is ongoing, the deceased’s body will remain here at the morgue.

Deacon: Right. Dr. Finnegan set this up for me. He thinks I need closure. Sheila and I were engaged to be married.

Finn: How’s hayes? Did he sleep okay?

Li: Yeah. Don’t worry about hayes. He loves spending time with grandma li.

Finn: Hm. He’s with brooke now?

Li: Yeah. Yeah, I had a meeting I couldn’t reschedule, but as soon as it’s over, I’ll go pick him up. Right now, though, I’m concerned for you. And steffy, of course. I hate that it happened the way it did. But I’m not sorry sheila’s dead.

Steffy: I, uh, I really appreciate everything. Cleaning my home and making it feel safe again.

Cleaner: Sorry you’re going through something so traumatic.

Steffy: Thanks.

[ Steffy sighs ]

Liam: Yeah, I heard.

Donna: What sheila did was– was crazy. And breaking in like that and taunting and terrorizing steffy.

Eric: Well, steffy did what she had to do. She had to stop sheila.

>>Idge: , She stopped her,: Is there anything that we can do? I mean, I’m sure steffy’s getting a lot of support. Especially from finn, but…

Ridge: Yeah, you would think that, wouldn’t you?

Eric: You saying he’s not being supportive?

Ridge: Listen, I like the kid and I respect him. But I’m confused why he’s so distraught by this woman dying.

Finn: Can we just not talk about sheila right now?

Li: Believe me, I’d like nothing more now that she’s finally out of our lives.

Finn: Well, she’s gone, mom. Okay? So just let it go.

Li: Let it go? After all that woman did? She went after steffy. Again. Intent on making sure she didn’t make it this time. Thank god steffy did. That she finally took out that sick, twisted psychopath for good. Sheila carter finally got what she deserved.

Liam: I mean, kelly’s doing great. She loves staying with me and her grandpa bill. Not that she doesn’t miss her mom and her little brother. I just think it’s probably best she stay with me for now.

Steffy: Yeah. Thank god she wasn’t here.

Liam: Yeah, I mean, I’m gonna do everything in my power to make sure she never finds out about it, but news these days.

Steffy: Yeah, I know. It travels fast. I’m sure she’s gonna hear things at school.

Liam: Well, try not to think too much about that. That’s the least of your worries. Just focus on getting past this and moving on.

Steffy: Yeah, you’re right. That’s exactly what my mom said when we video chatted. It’s just strange being here. Where it happened. I mean, sheila’s blood on the floor. But thankfully, the cleaners were here to take care of it.

Liam: Yeah, I saw that. Going out to the van.

Steffy: Hm. Just so much pain, you know, and heartache. It’s all because of sheila. I just never thought it was gonna end.

Liam: Well, it has. ‘Cause she’s dead. And she’s never gonna hurt anyone you care about ever again. I– I know that what you’ve just been through is traumatic. But please, steffy, please never doubt that you did the right thing. Please never doubt that you did exactly what you should’ve done. By killing her.

Deacon: It’s so cold in here. Um… look, I probably, uh, know the answer to this, but I’m gonna ask anyway. Has anyone else been here to see her? Anyone? God, I miss her so much. I’m probably the only one. I’m sorry I don’t even know why I’m saying this to you.

Pathologist: Sometimes it’s easier to open up to someone you don’t know. Would you like to see her now?

Deacon: Yeah.

Pathologist: I’ll give you a moment alone.

Deacon: Sheila, what the hell happened?

If you’re taking

an antidepressant,

Donna: Well, as horrible as sheila was, I mean she did give birth to finn.

Ridge: Yes, she did. And then she shot him and steffy in cold blood and left them in an alley to die. Not exactly mother of the year material.

Eric: No. But finn grew up never knowing who his birth mother was.

Ridge: Well, he knows who she was now. The woman who tried to kill his wife, twice. And you know what? Finn should be there for steffy right now and I don’t think he is.

Li: Karma’s a bitch. Sheila’s hurt so many people, it’s about time justice finally caught up with her. Quite frankly, I was beginning to think it never would. That her reign of terror will go on and on, but no more. Someone finally stopped her. Steffy finally stopped her. Which seems almost fitting. Sheila dying at your wife’s hands, given what sheila did behind that restaurant. Pointing a gun at steffy, then pulling the trigger, leaving her and you both for dead. But that’s who sheila was. Heartless, soulless, vile.

Finn: Okay, can you just stop? Stop, mom. Sheila was a person, a human being, and now she’s dead. My birth mother is dead.

Liam: Steffy, you did what anyone in your position would and should have done. It’s black and white. You defended yourself. The woman wanted you dead, right? She probably thought that she’d have finn and hayes all to herself if you were out of the picture.

Steffy: Believe me, I know that, liam. But I– I took a life. I mean, that’s not who I am.

Liam: What if kelly were here? She could’ve been hurt. She could’ve been kidnapped. Or worse. Every single one of you was in jeopardy as long as sheila was alive and breathing. And because of you, none of us ever have to worry about her again.

Deacon: Sheila carter. I– I don’t understand this. Sheila, I– I saw you change. I saw it with my own eyes. I just don’t understand. How did this happen?

Not flossing well?

Deacon: You’re so peaceful. Which is almost funny because that’s about the last word I’d ever use to describe you. I never told you this, but i used to always think of you like a beautiful rainstorm. Unpredictable, never boring. One minute, chaotic and relentless, and the next, exhilarating and intoxicating. I’ve always, um, felt like I was alone, even in a room full of people. I just got used to not needing anybody. And then I met– then I met you. And I needed you. And I didn’t give a damn what anyone thought. Because I knew what I was supposed to do next. I was gonna stand by you, no matter what. But now, I– I don’t know what to do next. I’m never gonna forget you. You are always gonna be a part of me, sheila. Do you think I could see her face? Rest in peace, beautiful girl.

Donna: Wait, what do you mean finn isn’t with steffy?

Eric: What is this, ridge? What’s going on?

Ridge: Well, finn can’t come to terms with the fact that his wife had to defend herself and kill his birth mother. He should be with steffy right now. And he’s not.

Li: I am your mother, finn. Not sheila.

Finn: Of course you are. But I just–

Li: No buts. What’s– what’s going on with you? If you’re reacting this way with me, I can only imagine what steffy’s thinking.

Liam: Well, uh, yeah. I shouldn’t stay long. I imagine finn will be home soon and I don’t wanna cause any tension. That’s probably the last thing you need right now, so. Steffy?

Steffy: Yeah. Finn will be home soon, won’t he?

Steffy: I don’t know. I don’t know if and when my husband’s coming home.

Liam: What are you talking about?

Steffy: God. Finn is struggling with sheila’s death. He, um… he says that I’m responsible.

Liam: Oh, really? Finn is struggling? He’s struggling? Such a struggle for him. I don’t care. That is ridiculous. I don’t care that she’s his birth mother. She tried to kill you. You were defending yourself and his entire focus right now should be on you and the kids. How does he not understand that?

Steffy: No, no. I mean, he does. I mean, this whole… god. This whole situation is really disturbing and it’s emotionally challenging. Like, I didn’t ask for any of this. I didn’t want sheila in here. But she gave me no choice. I had to grab a knife. I had to protect myself.

Liam: Yes. Exactly. You had to do what you had to do to survive. You’re not doing anything wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong. You’re not this horrible human being that was sheila. This is the whole point. That’s who she was. Everybody understands that. Everybody gets that. So, it’s kind of beyond me why finn doesn’T. You know what else is beyond me? That he isn’t here right now. Because I’m here. I’m here for whatever you want, whenever you want it. My love and support is free.

Steffy: Thank you. Thank you for just listening to me and being here.

Li: Steffy is your wife. She needs you now more than ever.

Adam: I’m thinking burgers after this. What do you say?

Chelsea: Well, I– I don’t know. I think, um, I think pizza would be a better bet, right?

Adam: Okay. Well, we got one vote for pizza and one for burgers.

Billy: I like both. I abstain.

Chelsea: So, I guess we need a tie breaker.

Adam: Well, clearly it’s gonna come up to the big man. But before you decide, let me just say, burgers comes with milkshakes for dessert.

Chelsea: This is true. But cupcakes follow pizza. So, that’s a solid choice.

Connor: Am I in trouble?

Adam: What?

Billy: Of course not.

Chelsea: Why would you think that, sweetheart?

Connor: You’re all here at the same time. So, if I’m not in trouble, then maybe you’re here because something’s really wrong with me.

Christine: Well, you were right. I am so glad I made that call. So thanks for the advice.

Nina: Oh, no. Well, thanks for taking it. You know, the only reason danny’s all turned around right now is because phyllis is being phyllis. You just need to sit down with him and talk to him and make him see what’s at stake.

Christine: I mean, I don’t wanna give up on danny. I know this is right for both of us, but for him to say that it’s a competition between the two of us. I mean, I– I have to make it clear to him and obvious that phyllis is the one playing games.

Nina: Yeah, but that’s an intellectual argument. You know, what matters is the heart, the deep emotions, the love, the longing, even the fear and loss. If you don’t force danny’s hand and make him realize that he’s pushing you away, he’s about to lose you for good. This could go on for god knows how long.

Christine: No, no. We don’t have god knows how long. I don’t wanna waste any more of my life because phyllis is a vulture and danny’s too nice.

Nina: Well, this is my point. Good. So, hopefully he’ll call soon. And listen when he does–

Christine: I– I know. Don’t mention phyllis.

Nina: Okay, good. Just focus on the two of you and no one else.

Christine: Well, let’s just hope she hasn’t gotten to him first and scared him away before this reverse psychology plan has a chance to work.

Phyllis: Hey, ooh, abby. Just the person I wanna see.

Abby: Phyllis, what do you want?

Phyllis: Okay. I– I want to rent out your restaurant for the evening. Not just a restaurant, the kitchen too.

Abby: Oh, tonight? Now? Ha! No! Excuse me.

Phyllis: But… how’s that a response?

Abby: How is it not?

Phyllis: Well, we can at least have a conversation about it.

Abby: We just did.

Phyllis: But– but no, no, no, we didn’T. You– you have to let me do this.

Abby: Apparently, you don’t understand because this is my restaurant and I don’t have to do a damn thing.

Phyllis: No, no. You don’t understand. Everything in my life right now is riding on this. (Husband) rock, paper, scissors for who’s on dinner duty?

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Nina: Danny’s not gonna leave town without saying so, without saying goodbye to you.

Christine: I’m not so sure about that.

Nina: What are you talking about?

Christine: Look… as far as danny’s concerned, this isn’t about him and me. This is about me and phyllis. And that might be enough as it is to scare him away. Look at what happened the last time phyllis thought I was coming between them. She tried to kill me, for god’s sake. Danny doesn’t wanna go through that again, and neither do I.

Nina: [ Softly ] I know.

Christine: And if he is already scared, you know, she’s gonna blame me and–

Nina: Okay. Okay, cricket. Stop it. Just stop it.

Abby: Phyllis, I have a sold-out book of reservations, so what am I supposed to do? I’m supposed to call all of those people and tell them to make other dinner plans because you, phyllis summers, of all people has waltzed in here with some hare-brained emergency.

Phyllis: I mean, well, that won’t be effective, of course.

Abby: You think?

Phyllis: You know what, abby, I believe in you. I know you can think of something. You could say, you know, uh, “our kitchen caught fire.” Or, “hey, everyone, our fridge blew up, you know, and all our food is spoiled.” Or, “our entire staff came down with, um, the bird flu or something like that.”

Abby: Yeah. Yeah, phyllis, that’s exactly what I should do. I should tell everyone that our– our kitchen equipment is unsafe and that you could potentially get food poisoning here. Yeah. You have a real business sense.

Phyllis: Okay. I will financially make this worth your while.

Abby: Which is exactly what you should tell the other restaurants in town when you give them your crazy idea. I’m sure they would be happy to take your money.

Phyllis: I don’t want any other restaurant. I want this restaurant, abby. I want yours. That should flatter you enough to do me this favor.

Chelsea: Sweetheart, the reason we’re here is we love you and we know you’ve been having a hard time, so we just wanna figure out why and how we can help you.

Connor: The way you got help?

Chelsea: Yeah. I mean, everybody needs help every once in a while for something, right?

Adam: Absolutely.

Chelsea: And that’s nothing to be frightened about.

Adam: Yes. Believe it or not, your mom and I don’t know everything. I know, but it is true. That is why we arranged for you to see a specialist.

Connor: What’s she gonna do? Give me a bunch of tests or something?

Adam: All she’s gonna do, she’s gonna ask you some questions. And all you have to do is answer them truthfully.

Connor: What kind of questions?

Billy: She’s just gonna ask you about, you know, what you’re thinking, how you feeling. Get you to open up a little bit so you can feel like yourself. Think about it this way, you know, the more she knows, the more she can help you figure out how to make it easier on yourself.

Alcott: Hello, connor. I’m so happy to meet you. I’m dr. Alcott. Why don’t we go talk for a bit? Oh, I think just one of your parents will come in right now. How about mom? That work for you?

Adam: Are you sure? Because I think maybe–

[ Adam sighs ] No, that makes sense. I’ll be right here buddy.

Chelsea: We got this.

Billy: Maybe we should check and see if dr. Alcott has a spare hour when she’s done with connor.

Adam: What the hell is that supposed to mean, billy?

Billy: You gotta get a handle on yourself, adam. Do you honestly think connor can’t pick up on your attitude? Breathing claritin clear is like…

Alcott: Just to tell you a little about myself, I got my phd in psychology at northwestern university in evanston, illinois. I specialize in cognitive behavior therapy and I’ve been practicing for 31 years. Which is a long way of saying I’ve been doing this a long time and I’ve met a lot of wonderful kids. Connor, I want you to know there’s nothing you can say that I won’t understand. So, I’d like to get started by asking you a few questions. That okay?

Chelsea: Remember what we talked about. Everything’s gonna be fine, I promise.

Adam: Who are you trying to impress, billy? Hm? The doctor? Connor? ‘Cause you’re not his parent. You don’t have any say in this.

Billy: Lighten up. Just relieve some of the tension, okay? Maybe put a smile on the kid’s face so he’s not walking in there thinking it’s all doom and gloom.

Adam: You’re here for chelsea. I’m here from my son.

Billy: Yeah. And he’s nervous. He’s afraid. And you sitting there all wound up ’cause I’m here is not helping.

Adam: So in other words, you think you know better than me what he thinks and how he feels? Is that what you’re saying, billy?

Billy: No, it’s not what I’m saying. In fact, it’s exact opposite of that. ‘Cause I can be a little bit more objective. ‘Cause as much as I care about connor, he’s not my son. So, I can pick up on a few things that you’re too upset to register.

Adam: Well, thank you for your insights… dr. Abbott.

Billy: I’m not attacking you, okay? I am 100% here to support connor. And that puts us on the same team, whether you like that or not. I know this can’t be easy on you, all right? If it were johnny and katie in there, I honestly, I don’t know how I would feel. I really don’T.

Adam: The kid hasn’t had a break in his entire life, okay? I was there, I wasn’t there, finding out about johnny, watching what his mom went through, and now this? I mean, I look at him and I see how perfect he is. I– I— I didn’t know what was happening. I didn’t know what he was going through.

Billy: But he’s here now. You put him in a situation to be surrounded by people that know how to handle this, okay? That’s a good thing.

Adam: Okay. So then, what if the school’s suspicions are right? And what if he does have ocd?

Billy: Then, you deal with it the way that you would deal with any other diagnosis. You find the right specialist, you get the right treatment, and you move forward.

Abby: Society is the only restaurant that you want? That must mean all the other restaurants in town turned you down. Am I right?

Phyllis: You know, abby, I thought we got past the point of hating each other. I really did.

Abby: Phyllis, this is nothing personal. It’s business pure and simple.

Phyllis: No, no, it’s not. Because if anybody else in this town, anyone you didn’t despise asked you for this, you would absolutely say yes.

Abby: [ Sighs ] Okay. Maybe I can work something out.

Phyllis: Really?

Abby: Later in the week.

Phyllis: No, no, no, no. It has to be tonight.

Nina: Cricket, you’re letting phyllis drive this thing. This whole fear that danny has about this being a competition between you two and that he’s essentially beside the point.

Christine: Which is ridiculous.

Nina: Yes, it is. It’s ridiculous. So put a stop to it. Just forget about phyllis. Remove her from the equation. Put her out of your mind and concentrate on what you and danny deserve.

Christine: Yeah, believe me. I would love nothing more.

Nina: This is your time. You two have finally found your way back to one another after all of these years.

Christine: Right? It almost makes you start believing in fate again.

Nina: No, not almost. Look, you have to stop inviting phyllis to become part of this scenario. I mean, really, phyllis?

Christine: How could you– inviting? What?

Nina: Well, maybe you’re not opening the door to her, but as soon as she’s there, you are right back at it. You’re lowering yourself to her level.

Christine: I admit she brings out the worst in me.

Nina: Well, she can try, but you let her. That’s a lot of power to hand over to a narcissistic drama queen.

Christine: A narcissistic drama queen who should be in jail.

Nina: I know. She should be in jail. We all know that. But she’s not. Get over it. Cricket, come on. You’re better than this. You’re better than her. You gotta start acting like it. I guarantee danny is not gonna stop seeing this as some game that you’re playing until you stop playing it. Stop dragging her into it.

Danny: Hey.

Christine: Hi.

Danny: Hi.

Christine: Did you get my message?

Danny: Yeah. Um, I– I’m really sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I’ve just been really swamped scheduling some added tour dates.

Christine: Added tour dates?

Danny: Yeah. I’ve moved up the second half of my concert tour, and so I’ll be, um, hitting the road in a couple weeks.

Christine: So just like that, you’re– you’re leaving? Are you really ready to give up on us? You know that feeling of having to re-wash dishes

Nina: I’ll leave you to it. I’ll see you.

Danny: Yeah.

Nina: I’ll call you.

Danny: Take care.

Christine: She’s right. We need to talk alone. Let’s go out here.

Danny: Of course. Yeah.

Christine: I, um, I guess I was afraid that you didn’t call me back because you were surprised to hear from me and you didn’t know what to say.

Danny: Well, um, actually, I… I wasn’t surprised. In fact, I kinda knew you’d call.

Christine: You did?

Danny: Yeah.

Christine: Look, I– I know that you are tired of this constant back-and-forth battle between phyllis and me.

Danny: [ Chuckles ] Tired is an understatement. I am exhausted.

Christine: I’m exhausted too. In fact, I– I’m so exhausted that I’ve– I’ve had enough.

Danny: What does that mean exactly?

Christine: The fact that phyllis is even part of our conversation, it just, it makes me sad. I– it doesn’t even make– it– it makes me furious. What the hell is wrong with you?

Danny: Wait, I–

Christine: Danny, danny, just when I thought that we were almost there, that we were getting back to the place that we both wanted to, you essentially let phyllis come between us. I mean, she can try, but you let her get to you. And if that’s the case, I… I don’t even know how I’m supposed to think about a future between us.

Abby: So, it has to be tonight. What’s so special about tonight? Hm? Who’s the unlucky prey?

Phyllis: Oh, yeah, that’s right. That’s me all over the place. This evil, relentless predator. That’s who I am.

Abby: Oh my gosh, phyllis. I was kidding. Sort of.

Phyllis: You know what? Even if you weren’t, it doesn’t matter. I would never tell you who my prey is because you would just misinterpret it and mock me, make fun of me like everybody else in this town. You know what? Forget it. I rescind my request.

Abby: Oh, great. I’ve already forgotten about it.

Phyllis: Can I have a martini? Three olives, please.

Phyllis: Grazie.

Danny: Prego.

[ Both laugh ]

Phyllis: All right. Mm. Oh, my goodness. That’s incredible. It’s so good. It’s better than I could have ever thought possible. How can I thank you?

Danny: By letting me cook this way for you for the rest of our lives.

Connor: I like to sit in the back.

Alcott: What’s better about sitting in the back?

Connor: Because then no one’s looking at me.

Alcott: You don’t like anyone looking at you?

Connor: No.

Alcott: So, tell me about your favorite part of the day.

Connor: I guess I don’t have one.

Alcott: There’s nothing about school you like?

Connor: Not anymore. I used to like some of it, but it’s a lot harder lately.

Alcott: Why do you think that is connor?

Connor: I don’t know. Just can’t concentrate anymore.

Alcott: Well, that’s interesting. You used to be able to concentrate and now you can’T. Did something change and that keeps you from being able to concentrate?

Connor: It’s the thoughts. Scary ones. All day long and out of nowhere, no matter what teacher’s talking or if I’m in the middle of practice, they keep coming and won’t go away.

Alcott: Like what, connor? Would you be willing to share what some of those scary thoughts are with me?

Adam: When you said earlier that everyone gets help?

Billy: Yeah?

Adam: Did you, you know, for the, uh, gambling addiction?

Billy: I did, off and on. A little more off than on. You know, I tried to white knuckle my way through it because, you know, I’m billy abbott and I gotta be stronger than some stupid self-destructive compulsion. Looking back on that, that was stupid and self-destructive.

Adam: Huh. So in general, you would say that therapy worked?

Billy: Yeah, I would. There was one time that it actually made me crack.

Adam: What do you mean crack? You had a breakdown?

Billy: Maybe a little too much information, so just forget I said that.

Adam: Hey. Kinda too late for that. I mean, you just backed yourself into a corner there.

Billy: Adam, uh, let’s not worry about my situation, okay? Let’s focus on connor here because I think it’s best I try and ease your mind so you can be calm and connect with your son when he walks outta here. ‘Cause the last thing he needs is a freaked out father.

Adam: And the last thing that you need is to expose any more of your weaknesses to a man that you often see as an enemy.

Febreze

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Billy: Believe me, adam, I have zero interest in hiding myself from you or anyone else. Who I am, who I am not, what I have done, the things that I have been through, you name it, I own it.

Adam: Well, that’s good to know.

Billy: Yeah. I had a breakdown. And I was in the throes of it when I tried to run you down with that car a few years ago.

[ Adam scoffs ]

Adam: Yeah. Yeah, that happened. Thank god for kevin and chloe or I’d be dead right now.

Billy: If I never said this to you before, I will regret that for the rest of my life. And I agree. Thank god for kevin and chloe. They didn’t only save your life, they saved mine as well. I got into therapy right after that and I have been better and stronger ever since.

Adam: Well, I’m glad to hear that, billy. I really am.

Billy: Correct me if I’m wrong, but I have the feeling that you’ve reached out for help from a few professionals over the years. Is that right?

Adam: Yes. Yeah, I have.

Alcott: What are some of these scary thoughts that keep barging into your mind?

Connor: Well, like when I eat, I can be really hungry, but then I get scared the food might make me sick.

Alcott: Is that why you don’t eat lunch sometimes?

Connor: It’s not just food either. You can get sick from other things too.

Alcott: Like what?

Connor: Like everything. There are germs everywhere. And germs can make you really, really sick.

Alcott: Have you ever gotten really, really sick?

Connor: No, but that’s because I wash my hands all the time to get the germs off of them.

Alcott: Sounds like a good idea to me. So thoughts of getting sick keeps scaring you. Anything else?

Connor: Lots of things all the time.

Alcott: I’d love to hear what they are if you’d like to tell me.

Connor: The kids are talking about me. The– they’re making fun of me and they’re going to hurt me.

Alcott: Oh, connor, I’m so sorry. I’m sure that’s not true. So, of all these scary thoughts you keep having, what are the scariest ones of all?

Connor: You mean the ones that wake me up in the middle of the night and like, can’t go back to sleep?

Alcott: Exactly. Will you tell me what they are?

Chelsea: It’s okay, sweetheart. You’re doing great. What are the scariest thoughts of all?

[ Connor sighs ]

Connor: That something horrible will happen to my mom and dad and it’ll be all my fault.

Danny: If I’ve ever given you the impression ever that she has taken priority over you, then I am sorry. But– but no. Never. Yes, I– I– I see that she’s changed somewhat and– and I’m supporting daniel and– and I’m supporting her. But she’s taking this and she’s running with it and she’s turned this into a huge competition.

Christine: Which is what I’ve said all along.

Danny: And you were right. I didn’t shut the door in her face. But, I mean, this is on you too. You know, you have been more than willing to engage in this battle with phyllis. This is about beating phyllis and then whoever wins, you get the door prize. Me. And I just come too far in my life to know that I do not wanna settle, and I am not going to get sucked in by anything that’s not real.

Christine: Okay.

Danny: You understand?

Christine: Yeah. Well, guess what? I have never thought of you as a door prize, and I never will. You’re the man I’m falling back in love with. And I believe with all my heart that if you just shut out phyllis’s noise just for a second, you would see that you’re falling back in love with me too.

Danny: I was such a fool to even think that there was a future with christine. My future and my destiny is right here in your arms where I belong.

Phyllis: And I belong right here with you in your arms. That’s the truth. I’m so happy you finally realized it.

Abby: Good. You’re still here. Bipolar 1, I got help to push back.

Phyllis: Yes, I am still here. The humble petitioner throwing herself on your mercy.

Abby: Can you please stop, phyllis?

Phyllis: Yes, I can.

Abby: Okay. Here is what I am willing to do. I looked at the reservations. My last reservation is at 8:30, so if that’s not too late for whatever, uh, thing you have planned, I can hand the restaurant over to you at 10:00.

Phyllis: That’s fantastic. Thank you.

Abby: But you have to pay my staff double time.

Phyllis: No, no, no, no. I– I don’t need your staff. Um, my prey, as you call it, um, he’s gonna bring the food, I’m gonna bring the drinks.

Abby: Do you honestly think I’m gonna leave you here alone in my restaurant?

Phyllis: Well, I’m not gonna rob you.

Abby: I don’t know what you’re gonna do. Besides, someone has to close.

Phyllis: Fine. A double pay for your staff.

Abby: And don’t make a mess. No one’s cleaning up after you.

Phyllis: Okay. Hey, abby. I just wanna say thank you. Really. You have– you have no idea what it means to me that you changed your mind.

Abby: You’re welcome… I think. Enjoy.

[ Phone rings ]

[ Danny sighs ]

Danny: I’m sorry.

Christine: What’s wrong?

[ Christine groans ] You’ve gotta be joking.

Danny: I– I should have turned the phone off.

Christine: She just doesn’t give up, does she? And what’s this? Um, phyllis can’t wait for what?

Alcott: And when these scary thoughts start invading your mind, what do you do to try to keep them away?

Connor: Sometimes, I count to drown it out. Counting calms me down, but it can only be certain numbers.

Alcott: Why is that?

Connor: Those numbers make it so bad things won’t happen. That’s why I hate math. I have to deal with numbers that aren’t lucky.

Alcott: I can see how that would be hard for you. What are your luckiest numbers?

Connor: Seven. And– and numbers that can be divided by seven, like 14, 28, 70, numbers like that. Oh, you know what else helps me keep the scary thoughts away? Straightening up my room. I do that a lot. My closet too.

Alcott: I see. It’s important for you to keep things in order.

Connor: It’s like the numbers. If everything is exactly right, then nothing can go wrong. It gets rid of germs, which is a bonus too.

Alcott: Thank you so much for talking to me, connor, and letting me get to know you. You’ve been very helpful.

Connor: That’s good, right?

Alcott: It is. And outside, uh, in the waiting room is your father and your mom’s friend?

Connor: Yeah, billy. He’s a good guy. He likes me and I can trust him.

Alcott: I’m glad to hear that. Would you mind waiting outside with him for a while I talk to your parents? It’s nothing bad. Just to get some more information from them.

Adam: That, uh, expose that you published about me a few years ago, you know, “the making of a monster?”

Billy: Yeah. Not my finest moment.

Adam: Oh, well, I probably should thank you for that.

Billy: No. Please don’t do that.

Adam: No, I mean it. When I learned that I had been suppressing the fact that I– I killed a man when I was 11 years old, I got into therapy myself.

Billy: And did it help?

Adam: Mm-hmm. I managed to expose some, um, past traumas that I didn’t realize were still driving me.

Billy: I think we all assume that we can handle the psychological issues that were dealing with, but the truth is, we all need help at some time or another.

Billy: So, how’d it go?

Connor: Pretty good, I guess. Better than I thought it’d be.

Billy: That’s good. What’d you think about dr. Alcott? Did you like her?

Connor: She was nice. She asked me about the things that bother me and scare me. She didn’t act like I was a freak or something.

Billy: Well, you’re not a freak or something, but that’s good. Sounds like you were comfortable with her.

Connor: I was. And you wanna know what else I liked about her?

Billy: What’s that?

Connor: She made it okay to talk. Like I was safe.

Billy: You know, she could only do that because you were brave and honest. I’m really proud of you. Give me some.

Alcott: For a child to come in and relax on his first visit and to open up the way he did, that’s a child who knows on some level that he is loved and supported.

Chelsea: Yeah. I mean, we– we love him so much.

Alcott: It’s clear he’s been struggling.

Chelsea: He’s been in so much pain, adam.

Adam: So, um, were you able to get enough information to make a diagnosis?

Alcott: I was. Your son is showing all the signs of obsessive compulsive disorder. Obsessive compulsive disorder or ocd is a mental health disorder. I’ll be emailing you both a wealth of information and it’ll be a lot to take in all at once. But for now, I can say that his symptoms aren’t unusual. Invasive thoughts create anxiety and get in the way of connor’s day-to-day functioning. His fear of contamination, germs, illness are overwhelming. His need to arrange things until he feels they’re right, like the objects on my table, he put them in order. And the relief he seems to find in straightening up his room and his closet. The counting, he mentioned. The lucky and unlucky numbers.

Adam: This is what he’s been going through every day?

Chelsea: Yeah. The way he was talking, adam, it’s taking up every waking moment. I mean, it’s no wonder he doesn’t wanna participate in sports and– and he can’t focus in class. I mean, things have been awful for him.

[ Chelsea sniffling ]

Adam: Um, what causes ocd? I mean, is it, um, is it genetic?

Alcott: There are no definitive answers to what causes it. Genetics, neurotransmitters, the environment, all possibilities. But it’s not productive to look for blame, especially self-blame. What’s important is you’re taking the steps that connor needs so he can learn to manage the illness.

Adam: Wait a minute. Manage? Are you saying that there is no cure for this?

Chelsea: No, adam, there is no cure. But we will manage it and we will make sure that connor has the tools to remain the wonderful kid that he is out of pain. And we will get those tools as well. We can’t panic or do anything that’s gonna get in the way of helping connor.

[ Connor sighs ]

Connor: What did she say? Am I really sick?

Adam: You know what? Why don’t we go for those burgers and we will talk there.

Connor: Please, just tell me.

Chelsea: Sweetie, you have something called obsessive compulsive disorder.

Connor: Do people die from that?

Chelsea: No, no.

Adam: And we would never let that happen. And it can be treated. Okay?

Chelsea: Yeah, the way I treat my depression. So we’re gonna learn all about it. You, me and your dad, and, the doctors are gonna help us figure it out.

Connor: Am I going to be okay?

Adam: Yes.

Chelsea: Yes, you are. I promise you.

Danny: You’re right. Phyllis won’t give up unless I stop her.

Christine: You know, not too long ago, your exact words to me were, “I want you.” Remember?

Danny: Yes, absolutely.

Christine: Okay. And did you mean that or was that just something you said in the heat of the moment and now you regret it?

Danny: No. No. No. I meant it from the bottom of my heart.

Judah: All kids have worries. It’s part of growing up.

Melissa: But worries and anxiety can turn into something more.

Mark: And when that happens, it’s time to get help.

Melissa: Talk to your doctor. Treatment looks different for every child.

Mark: To learn more about children’s mental health…

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

cyrus. Thank you for coming. How could I not? This is the first time you’ve invited me to your home. Well, you usually take it upon yourself to just show up, don’t you? Well… uh, do I actually get to come inside, or is the invitation only good for the doorway? Please come in. Thank you. And what precipitated this step forward in our relationship? Well, uh, kevin is with a patient tonight at the hospital, and, uh, ace is sick with a cold, so I couldn’t leave him alone. Any problems? None so far. Alright. Let’s get this over with. Daughter-in-law! Good to see you again! And so soon. So this is where you’ve been hiding. I’m not hiding. I just didn’t want to get coerced into pinning a tail on a donkey. Coerced by a 10-year-old. Losing your edge. Didn’t want you to miss out. Thank you. And, uh, what else do you want? You certainly didn’t seek me out because of our shared love of buttercream. Something happened with lucy. What’d she do now? She asked me to work against you so she can regain control of deception. And why would she think you’d go along with that? Because lucy knows something you don’T. Our arrangements can continue as before. I conduct my operations discreetly, abiding by the agreed-upon boundaries and under your protection… in exchange for which you’ll receive a 10% cut of all profits. The savoy is off limits. If I can get a separate accommodation from curtis ashford… the savoy is off limits. I didn’t realize this negotiation would be so realistic. Alright. You know what? Since we’re here, let’s get down to business. -Nobody move! -Hands in the air! Fbi! Federal agents! Nobody move! Hands where we can see ’em. Looks like we’re late to the party. Man: We missed our window. Ah… I can still get the shot.

I haven’t been completely honest with you. Not liking the sound of this, but go on. I went to maxie and proposed a way to get you out of deception. Do tell. The idea was to convince you that I loved running deception so much that eventually you would take a step back and give me control of deception, including your voting shares, and then I would turn around and give those shares back to maxie.

Brava. That is a scheme worthy of a quartermaine. Treachery. Deceit. Betrayal. You have surpassed my expectations. You might live up to your potential yet. Well, I learn from the best. Look, you only got control of deception because you blackmailed me into bringing you the — the development notes of the deceptor. Lucy stole blair cramer’s idea. She committed intellectual property theft. She brought this on herself. Who cares what lucy did?! You, my own grandmother, forced me to betray my friends! And I hate the fact that I did what you wanted, especially to maxie. Oh, you were just gritting your teeth. You were enduring the time you spent with me. You were pretending to want to learn from me. And dr. Robinson! Boy, I must rate if I get the co-chief of staff to do my examination. I’m honored. There are some things that I would rather do myself than impose on my staff. Oh, I’m sorry if I’m imposing with my injuries. I’ll be outside if you need me. Oh, no. Don’t go! I could really use a friendly face right now, honey. Please stay. Only if it’ll help. Okay. I see that you’re here for an mri and you’re experiencing some hip pain? Ohh! That is correct. I-I am in absolute agony. And I have been, ever since I was attacked and brutalized by those pentonville guards. Are you kidding me? They were trying to calm you down. If anything, it was your resistance that caused your injury. Wait. I was confronting a man that was responsible for my daughter’s death. It was — okay. We need to examine this patient. Do you mind just go ahead and waiting outside for us? Thank you. Sure. I’ll be right outside. Really appreciate that, doctor. It is really nice to be treated like a human being for a change. Okay. Tell us what’s going on. You said that you’re, um — you’re having some hip pain that’s bothering you? Well, it’s just that every time I put weight on my right hip, there’s terrible pain. I went over your scans from the infirmary, and it shows nothing. But I do see you had a hip replacement, what, 20 years ago? Well, yeah. Skiing accident. I was young, fit, wild and free. I had a little run-in with a mogul. And you’re also complaining of a rash that you have on your lower back. Now, how long have you had that? Well, it actually comes and goes. The sheets in pentonville are so rough, and I-I have really delicate skin. Like, these cuffs are really chafing my wrist right now, and it’s putting me in a very strange position, which hurts my hip. Hm. So you think maybe that we could just take the cuff off, you know, for now? Come sit down. Please. I just wanted to talk to you about, uh, what happened at pentonville a few days ago. Mm. I mean, of course, anna has briefed me already on the conversation that you had with the gun dealer, o’neill. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And first of all, I want you to know that I’m very grateful to you that you were willing to go through with our plan. Well, I did it for you. Uh, but as you no doubt heard, we were interrupted before I was able to get any significant information. I can tell you the guy is terrified of some figure he knows only as “stone.” Why? Did he say? Well, this guy has managed to convince the world that he’s dead. Uh-huh. I understand your microphone “malfunctions” in — in the conversation with o’neill. Yes. I was attacked by heather webber. She’s got it in her head that I’m somehow responsible for her daughter esme’s death. Uh-huh. And so that’s how the microphone got damaged in the struggle? How else? You know, I don’t know. I’m just very frustrated that we were not able to get your complete conversation with o’neill on record. So, I mean, would you mind terribly just taking me through it step by step? Do you think I left something out? You tell me. What’s the problem, agent cates? We’re investigating allegations of racketeering and rico violations. This is my warehouse. You’ll find nothing amiss. Well, then I’ll take that as permission to conduct a search. While we wait for a team to arrive, you want to tell me the nature of your meeting tonight? Mr. Corinthos and I are avid gamblers. We’re planning a poker game. Strictly legal, of course. You a poker fan, ava? Texas hold ’em. Play whenever I can. Seems kind of unusual to bring a cadre of bodyguards to a warehouse for a card game. Detectives storm my private residence without any provocation.

[ Indistinct conversation ]

I actually enjoy working with you. It’s surprisingly fun. You’re too kind. Grandmother, I am being completely sincere. You are incredibly smart and freakishly shrewd. Oh. Don’t stop now. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. I am learning so much. And w-while I don’t believe that lucy has committed intellectual property theft, I do agree that lucy’s unprofessional whims have hurt the company. Deception deserves better. And what would that look like? Would it be me? You? Us? I’m not gonna lie. Music is my passion. Why can’t you just accept that? Oh, please. You cling to music like it’s some tatty security blanket. Why will you not allow yourself to do other things? What, like running a cosmetics company? You just said that you enjoy, you’re having fun at deception, and you happen to have the quartermaine head for business. You are not listening to me. This isn’t my dream job! I just can’t picture myself running deception in the long term. Things need to change. Alright. I have a proposition for you. You’re still suspicious of me, after I went against my better judgment and did what you asked. I appreciate the effort you made. Truly. I do. But the fact that your microphone was compromised at that crucial point — that gave everyone pause. Do you think I planned for that lunatic heather webber to attack me? Ugh! I swear on my mother’s life that I accurately and completely relayed everything that gun dealer said. You said you wanted to believe me. That meant everything to me. Why won’t you let yourself?

[ Ace crying ] I’ve got to get the baby.

[ Sighs ] God. I’m gonna check your vitals, ms. Webber. But — but my cuffs. It’s standard procedure for a prisoner to be in handcuffs at all times when they’re at the hospital. My hip is in so much pain. I can’t even walk! I couldn’t possibly escape. Elizabeth: You’ll be going for your mri soon. When you get back, we’ll ask the guard if he can help you get into a more comfortable position.

[ Groans ]

[ Beeping ] Well, you do have a low-grade fever. 99.5. See? I’m sick! And I’m still in major pain. I’m gonna call radiology right now and have them get you in right away.

[ Groans ]

[ Door closes ] Excuse me. That woman was not mistreated by the guards. If her hip is bad, she did it to herself. We’re well aware of heather’s duplicity. We weren’t taken by her bid for sympathy. This whole trip was a waste of time. Everyone is entitled to proper medical care, and so now that ms. Webber is a patient of this hospital, that’s exactly what she’s gonna get. Excuse me. Yes, this is dr. Robinson. I’m sending over a patient. She’s a transfer from pentonville. Can I get an mri of the pelvic region with contrast, please? Mm-hmm. Heather webber. And I need her seen and evaluated A.S.A.P. Thank you. The sooner we get heather to pentonville, the better for everyone. You got a casino in puerto rico, don’t you, sonny? You can fly down there any time you want. Why would you waste your time in this grubby warehouse? I object to your characterization of my property. I’m sure the commissioner’s not trying to be rude. She’s just embarrassed. Am I? Sonny: This raid was jagger’s idea, and he talked you into kicking those doors down, guns blazing. And what did you find? Absolutely nothing!

[ Gunshot ]

[ Indistinct shouting ] -Cover! -Quick! Get under! -Above! -Skylight on the roof. Man: On the roof! You ruined my shot! Let’s go. He’s pinned down. I can still get him. They know the shot came from the roof. Cover’s blown. No, no. Just leave it. Let’s go. Anybody hit? -No casualties here. -All clear on our side. Selina: I’m unharmed. Sonny? We’re good. Okay. They could still be up there. Chase and i will check it out. No, no. Everyone shelter in place. Anna? Sniper rifle. Looks like the position is up in the skylight. They could be waiting for one of us to break cover. No. You know what, anna? We can make it. Shooter can’t see us. Go. Proposition. What do you have in mind? You and I continue at deception. We build it into a cosmetics empire. Wow. Shocker. I’m not done. You’re a creative, right? Ceos are creative. They create a vision for their company, and they organize all the moving parts to see that vision come to life. It’s a different kind of art. Sorry, grandmother. It’s not the kind of art that inspires me. How do you know that unless you try? I want you to experience the thrill of seeing your vision succeed. And when you do… if you still want out, you may leave with my blessing, and I will sell my stock back to maxie and sasha. Lucy gets nothing. Well, I agree with you there. After the way lucy treated you, she does not deserve control of deception. Just another example of how you and I see eye to eye. I’ll sweeten the deal. You can still produce artists on the side, although I think you’re gonna be too busy and too invested and having fun. Do we have a deal? I don’t get it. Why is it so important to you that I run deception? Because it’s something we can do together. You’re a very smart woman. You can do anything you put your mind to. You remind me of myself. And believe it or not, I-I like to have fun. And, brook lynn quartermaine, you are exasperatingly fun. And you’re the future of this family. They’re ready for heather in radiology. Okay.

[ Elevator bell dings ]

[ Ace crying ] Oh, elizabeth! Thank god you’re here. Is everything okay? I’m not sure. Ace is running a temperature of 104. Hey. I mean, he’s had a cold for the past few days. He was just coughing and sneezing. But tonight all of his symptoms got a lot worse and he got really fretful. And as you can see, he’s just burning up. Yeah. Yes. Did you feel him? What is he doing here? I-I was visiting my sister, dr. Robinson. I came out of concern for my great-nephew. Yeah, anyway, um, I know babies can spike a very high temperature, but I just thought it was best to bring him in anyway. Um, is there any way that you could take a look at him? Or would you rather that I just go to E.R.? No, no, no. I-I can see him. Will you be okay with the other patient? Oh, absolutely. Okay. Is that ace?! You! You get away from my grandson! Yeah. Single shot. High-powered rifle. Okay. I want — I want units to cordon off a six-block area around the warehouse… law enforcement’s on the scene. …At 257 water street. No, there’s no casualties. Yeah. I need a csi team here to collect evidence. I’m guessing it’s safe now, huh? Well, we just gotta wait for the all-clear. When did you become so cautious? I’m not worried about myself. All clear. Where’s dante? While on the roof, we observed two suspects approximately 200 yards away, heading toward the waterfront. Detective falconeri told me to secure the scene and call for backup. He’s in pursuit of the suspects. Police! Freeze! Freeze! Do not move! Do not move. Slowly put your hands behind your head. Put your hands behind your head! Do it now! Turn around. I said turn around. Slowly.

What the hell? Jacobs. Leave him. You killed my daughter! I don’t want you anywhere near her child! Guard: Hey! Oh, god! Heather, heather. Calm down, please. You’re scaring the baby. And he’s sick. He needs to be examined. What? He’s sick? You better take care of him, laura! That’s why I’m here, heather. Wait. Is this what you wanted all along? To have ace all to yourself?! Heather, please calm down. I will sedate you. That is ridiculous. Is it?! Then why didn’t you take care of his mother like I begged you to?! Laura, I trusted you! I told you esme’s plans so that you would keep her safe! But you didn’t! And now my baby is dead! Heather, I tried to find esme. I tried, and I just — I couldn’t do it. But do you think I wanted this to happen? I lost my grandson, too. Well, at least there’s some justice. Let’s get out of here. And keep that man away from my grandson! Heather, heather. Calm down. Can you take her straight to radiology, please? And no stops, no matter what she says. Man: Yeah. Now you’re talking, doc. Let’s go. Dr. Robinson… the waiting room is right over there, and you can wait for laura and ace there. I-I’m sorry. I just wanted to inquire after your husband. How is curtis doing? Why are you staring at me? Because you like me. You just said you want to keep working with me. You just said it yourself! I meant absolutely everything I said about you. And, yes… I do like working with you, mostly. Well, we don’t have to work at deception to hang out. Oh, please. Every time we’re together, we talk about work. That can’t be true. We also talk about planning my wedding. Yes, we do. And guess what. You’re getting married. And once you are, we’re back to only having deception in common. We won’t let that happen. Really? Yes. How? Are you gonna take me up on my proposal? ‘Cause I’ve been really generous. I don’t think you can refuse. Alright. I’ll stay. Whoo! For…now. But…my terms are that we make an effort to get to know each other better. Ooh. You drive a hard bargain.

[ Both chuckle ] Well, in the effort of getting to know each other better, what is going on between you and my future father-in-law? Did you ask gregory to the wedding? Chase: There’s an abandoned rifle near the skylight. I could only do a quick search, but I couldn’t find any shell casings. Go up to the roof and wait for csi. Let them be the ones to retrieve the rifle. These guys took out of here in a hurry. Maybe they left something traceable behind. Care to lay odds that the rifle used was one stolen from the cache of the wsb? Fits the pattern. It also means the intended target is almost certainly — sonny! Yeah? Look at your coat! Is that — sonny, that’s a bullet hole. As I was saying, it means the intended target was almost certainly sonny. Looks like your trap worked. Just not the way you thought.

Mr. Renault… I’ve had a very, very long day and I am tired. I don’t wish to have small talk with you about anything, much less my husband. I-I merely wondered — what part of “stay away from me or I’ll get a restraining order” do you not understand? I’m trying to figure this out. Okay. It was five months ago. And since that time, I’ve been living my life as a respectable citizen. I guess I was hoping your feelings might have changed. I’m really trying here. I’m trying to be professional. But you really think that I’m gonna forget that you terrorized me and my daughter in our home? The gunfire. The standoff. And it certainly wasn’t five months ago when you went to ava’s gallery and you approached trina. That was an accident. I didn’t know she’d be there. I was looking for artwork. Well, what did you do when you saw her? Wh– did you leave? No, you didn’T. You stayed. And you actually tried to talk to her? Mm. Yeah. I never thought I would say this, but I agree with heather webber. I — stay away from my child! Don’t ever, ever go near trina again! Do you understand me? I will call the cops so fast, your head is gonna spin. I am truly sorry I’ve caused you this much grief and anger. I-I hope you can find some way to let go of it. You can really drop the charade. Laura’s not here. She’s not here to see this act. ‘Cause I’m not buying it. Okay. Got it. And maybe you’re right. Maybe what I did is unforgivable, but I can’t go back and change it. I — I just hope that one day you can see that I’m sincere. I… I am no longer the wretch who terrorized your family. God has changed me. And my life today is about trying to help others. You want to help? You really, really want to help? I do. Stay the hell away from my family. I think it’s safe to go back. They must have pinned the tail on that damn donkey by now. Oh, no, you don’T. We have a deal in place. And I want the tea. Not just the one in your cup. So spill. What is up with you and gregory? Gregory is taking alexis davis to your wedding. Huh. They do work together. Did you even ask him? I was planning to. I went to the invader to extend the invitation, which is when I found out that he was taking alexis. I mean, they are colleagues. They’re not a couple. Gregory said they’re friends. “Good” friends. Okay. “Friends.” Means there’s still a chance. I am not throwing myself at gregory. Well, according to chase, you don’t have to. What did chase say? Just that you joined him and finn and gregory at dinner and that he noticed that gregory was more relaxed with you than he is with most people, especially now that his als is more noticeable. He also said that he was impressed with the way that you helped gregory without making a big deal out of it. That really meant a lot. It’s not a big deal. People’s bodies change. Sometimes you can’t do things you used to be able to do, so you adapt. And you and gregory obviously have chemistry. Chase said that? Oh, please. Men are oblivious to that sort of thing, which is why you need to be direct with him! Chase? Gregory! You need to tell him that you are interested in seeing him. Put it out there, plain and simple. Okay. Units are en route. Okay. See that ms. Wu, her bodyguard, and sonny’s are taken to the station. You hold them as persons of interest. Got it. Ms. Wu, if you’ll come with me, please. It’s my policy to always cooperate with law enforcement.

[ Selina speaks mandarin ] Hey, cates. What do you got against a friendly poker game? Oh, you’re not helping anyone by stonewalling, sonny, least of all yourself. There have been multiple attempts on your life and at least one on ms. Wu’S. So, you agreed to meet here tonight in order to lure your enemy into making another attempt. So that what — so you could identify them and presumably stop them? That is not your job, sonny! That is the job of law enforcement. So far, your record has been less than stellar. What are you doing here, miss jerome? Well, I’m looking for a card game, like I said. At one point, you were the co-head of the jerome crime family, but that was almost a decade ago. You haven’t been involved in organized crime since. That we know of. Well, the fbi knows quite a bit. It’s unlikely miss jerome’s been targeted. But you have a daughter with mr. Corinthos, don’t you? And you’re currently living with him, correct? Should I call my lawyer, agent cates? Well, you can if you want, but your presence here when the shots were fired puts it completely within our purview to bring you in for an interview. Back off. Ava has nothing to do with this. She does now. Thanks to you. You said yourself sonny was the intended target here tonight, which makes him the victim. You should not be harassing sonny. You should be protecting him! We’re gonna miss the extraction.

[ Dante groans ] Just go to the pick-up spot. I’ll find another way out. Your call.

[ Gun cocks ] Watch your six.

[ Grunts ]

Hm! Thank you so much for changing ms. Webber’s position. She seems a lot more comfortable now. How was everything in radiology? She give you any trouble? No. Just back to her charming self. Well, let me know if anything changes. I’ve still got that sedative.

[ Both chuckle ] Are they keeping ace? No. No, they’re not. The, um, pediatrician on call wants to get an x-ray of his lungs so he can rule out pneumonia, but, um… elizabeth told me I should come sit here for a while because my emotional state was upsetting ace. Oh. Sit, laura. Yeah. Anyway, she’s, um… she’s holding him, and he is — he’s falling asleep in her arms. Hm. Probably reminds him of esme, right? Yeah. How are you? I’m really sorry that heather lashed out like that. I’ve certainly survived worse slings and arrows. I can brush off anything heather webber has to say about me. Ah. Yeah. Well, she is a mother who lost her child… yeah. …So she’s entitled to her grief. She might want to work on how she expresses it. Yes, of course. But, uh, I do sympathize with her loss. Yeah. [ Grunts ] Oh, dear. It’S… are you alright? Yeah. It’s just a twinge. It’S…

[ Breathes deeply ] Is that because of what sonny did? That certainly didn’t help. But, uh, t-the years have left their mark. You know, when I was a kid, I didn’t really care about risking my life or how much damage I sustained. I-I had this idea I was going to get rich and powerful on my own terms… or die trying. Because, really, what kid that age can even conceive of — of their own death, except maybe as a ultimate act of rebellion or the final scene in their own movie? Maybe that’s what happened to esme. Maybe she was so desperate to get her son back, she convinced herself that she was willing to do anything, that she was… that she was willing to die trying. Yeah. And then she did.

[Crying] And she took my spencer with her. I appreciate the compliment and the faith in my abilities. I will take what you said under consideration. Do I still remind you of someone? Oh, that. Maybe.

[ Chuckles ] But you wear your heart on your sleeve much more than I do. That’s dangerous. Well, detective harrison chase has my heart now, so it’s perfectly safe. You surprise me, miss jerome. You’re a change from sonny’s usual defenders. Well, I am simply pointing out that a crime was committed here tonight. An unknown person took a shot at sonny. And instead of trying to apprehend that shooter, you and commissioner devane here are — are questioning him like he’s done something wrong! And I could make the argument that sonny’s obstructing justice by refusing to cooperate in a criminal investigation. All I’ve done is cooperate. You’re the one who broke in here. I didn’t resist. I didn’t try to run away. All I did was listen to your stupid questions. And guess what. I got shot at! Okay. Alright. I understand that you have a history with agent cates. -That’s an understatement. -Fine. There’s no love lost. But I hope you know me well enough to believe that I bear you no ill will. Unless I were to find out that you committed something criminal. Then I would investigate you to the full extent of the law. But I’m not out to get you. In fact, far from it. I don’t want you to die. Well, we agree on one thing, then. Okay. Somebody out there is trying to kill you. And you have to have an angel on your shoulder because I have no idea how that sniper missed you from this range. But do not bet that they will miss you the next time. So why don’t you let us help you and tell us what you know?

[ Footsteps approach ] Okay. Ms. Wu, her bodyguard, and the two corinthos guards are all en route to the station. What are the charges? I’m detaining them. Persons of interest. What about your detective? And do you have an update on his pursuit of the suspects? Nothing yet. Dante hasn’t called. Alright. That’s good. You’re doing good, dante. Just keep breathing. Okay?

[Weakly] Jason… you’re gonna be okay.

[ Groans ] I got you.

[ Wheezing ]

Once you’re added to the National Organ Transplant Waitlist, you may receive an organ that day. Or you may wait.

I shouldn’t read any more of this. No, darling, you shouldn’t. But it won’t matter. It doesn’t make a difference what happens, happens. Meanwhile, we’re all here for you. And we’re not going anywhere, Mama, until you get that call saying that they found your heart. Hello, everyone. Oh, hello. Of course. I’m Marlena.

Oh, hi there. It’s so good to see you. It’s so good to be home with your family. Oh, it is so good to be home.

Hello, my friend. You came. Of course I came. Marlena, I need to talk to you.

Ava? Hey.

Do you have any leads? Well, same as when we spoke this morning. Nothing concrete. But I promise you my people are working, doing everything they can to track down Tripp and Wendy. Assume you haven’t heard anything? Um, no. Nothing. Okay, well let me know if you do. I know you pretty well, Ava. I assume you’re using your connection to do everything you can to find Tripp.

And what mother wouldn’t? I’m gonna do anything I can to find my son. I get it. Just be careful. Don’t cross any lines, okay?

Goldman. It’s you.

Yes, darling. I’m still here. Well, Doug, sweetie pie, I’ve been wandering around like crazy trying to find something that will open it, a little key or

Because this is not your garden variety time capsule. I’m being careful. I know. Well, I’ll be home soon. I love you too.

Like

sand through the hourglass, so days of our lives.

I’m here. I’m happy to talk to you. Alone?

Uh, yeah, we’ll go grab some coffee, huh? We’ll be back in about 10 minutes. Okay, Mom? Mm hmm. Take your time.

Okay, I’m here. What do you want to talk about? Marlena.

I’m scared.

Okay, you know what? I will do my job, and you do yours. Alright, Commissioner? Alright, you always got your back up, don’t you Eva? Okay, you know what, Rafe? This is not the day to mess with me, okay? I am a mother whose son is missing. Okay. I was just offering helpful advice.

Okay. Look, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I snapped at you. I am just, I am on edge. Obviously. Okay. I’m sorry. It’s okay. Yeah, I’m sorry. I gotta go. It’s, uh, police business.

Coleman! AHHHHH!

You scared me to death! Well, you give as good as you get. Everett! What were you doing here at this hour? I was I was driving by and I saw a flashlight moving around in the house and I thought somebody had broken in. Nobody broke in. Thank you. That was very nice of you. It’s nice to know there are decent people in the world.

Would you mind shining your flashlight? I dropped mine and I dropped the phone. Oh, there they are. Thank you. Thank you.

I thought you were the arsonist. Come back to finish the job. Is that a possibility? After that threatening phone call that Chad got while the house was burning down, I think anything’s possible. What are you doing here? All alone at this hour?

Well, actually I’m obsessed. While the family was here checking out the damage, we found a time capsule. Little Thomas was playing in the fireplace with the poker and it just fell out. Time capsule? Yeah. Put together by my grandparents in 1966. Wow. Amazing. Have you opened it? No. That’s the problem. What do you mean?

Did you take it to a locksmith? Of course. He was no help at all. He couldn’t figure out how to open it without forcing it, which might break it and then ruin whatever is inside. You see, my grandfather, Thomas Horton, loved puzzles. And this is not the first time he challenged the family with something like this.

So I want to open it the way my grandfather intended. I get that. But what are you actually doing here? I thought if I looked around quietly by myself, checking everything, I might find a clue or some secret little key that would help me open the darn thing. You want some help? I wonder what mom wanted to talk to Marlena about.

Do you know why she wanted to see her? No, I don’t, I don’t. I’m guessing that she is Worried sick, and she’s hoping that Marlena can offer some, some comfort. You know, we’re, we are, we’re battling against time. I know. And the reality is that, uh, this is completely out of our hands. I know. Mother is our rock.

She is our core. And we just, we can’t afford to lose her, we can’t. No, dad, we won’t. We won’t.

Everyone keeps saying you’re wrong, you’re a fighter, you make it through all this,

but I’m not, I’m not feeling strong, Marlena, right now, all I’m feeling is scared because you see, I, I love my life. And my sweet family, my job, my friends, and the thought of leaving, all that.

I want you to know something. You have got a lot of years ahead of you. Okay, a lot of living to do. I want you to remember that. You know, heart recipients are living so much longer now. That can happen with you as well, and I, and I, I know we’re gonna fight very hard to find you the right donor. So it’s, it’s natural for you to feel frightened, but you can also be very strong.

So You can be scared and strong at the same time. Yes, you can. A lot of us fight battles that way all the time. Look, you have got a family who loves you and is standing by you, and I think if you, if you feel you can, let them know you’re right. Let them know what you’re going through and let them, let them comfort you.

But I’m not sure I want anyone to know what I’m going through, Marlena. Well, maybe it’s because I’m physically weak. But, much as you say, there’s still hope. I’m having a hard time clinging to that. That’s the problem. Fighting spirit. Everyone admires me for saluting me right now. My mind, it keeps fast forwarding to a future where,

For what? Where I won’t be here anymore. Not here for my husband, for my daughters, for my friends. So can you help me, Marlena? Can you help me to feel more hopeful? Can you help me to stop fast forwarding to darkness?

What’s going on? What’s the origin? You’re not going to believe it. I found our mole. Who? It’s Goldman. What? Are you serious? I just passed her on the square. She blew me off. How do you know it’s her? Because somebody tried to kill me. She allowed it to happen.

Good thing we found this lantern, huh? Oh, you found the lantern. I’m so short, when I go in the garage, I never even look at what’s on the top shelf. But you can reach it. Oh, my tippy toes. Everett, are you sure you want to spend the evening with an old lady looking for clues? I mean, there must be something exciting for a young man like you to be doing.

Oh, what do you mean? I love a good mystery. And besides, uh, curiosity is, uh, well, half the reason I became a journalist. What’s the other half? Oh, um, this may sound pretentious, but a burning desire to spread the truth. Sounds pretentious. I’ll indulge you. Thank you. Anyway, um, what a great story a time capsule discovery would make.

Yeah, well not if I can’t open it. What are we, what are we looking for? Clues? Or a wanky key? Wanky? A wanky key? If you say so. You know what’s wanky? When I look at you in this light,

You look so much like my cousin, Nick, God rest his soul. He, uh, He was a very promising young man until he lost his way. I’m sorry. What happened to him? He went over to the dark side. Sadly. Anyway. Yeah. Your family has such fascinating stories. I’d love to hear more sometime. Always a reporter, huh? I mean, this house must be Bursting with interesting tales, right?

Family histories buried in the woodwork. Secrets whispered from the walls. Scandal dripping from the eaves. Everett, I don’t enjoy the image of scandal dripping from my eaves. Okay, I’ll, uh, I’ll stop. Thank you. Let’s move on to modern times. So, what’s a story? With you and Stephanie. Do you think there’s a future there?

As you begin to feel stronger. I know you will see yourself. Is that healthy? Vibrant woman. You’ve always been the woman who Lights up every room she walks into. Oh, thank you, Marlena. Oh, you’ve given me respect and comfort. Uh, and, oh, right now I, honestly, I’m feeling a bit stronger after having taken in all you just said.

I’m so glad to hear that. Oh. Now just take this time to enjoy your loved ones. And friends. Yeah. Oh. Right, right now, in this moment anyway, I feel like that fighting spirit is winning over that fear. Thanks to you.

Someone tried to kill you here. Yes, he was disguised wearing a cervical mask. He came in not long ago. He tried to inject something in my IV bag and I fought him off. I was, I couldn’t detain him. The hitman, he ran off and then Goldman is standing right there looking shocked that I was alive and then she took off.

Obviously, she let him in. Unreal. That, that explains it. That explains why she blew me off in the square. She acts like she’s just a straight arrow, stickler for protocol. Yeah, makes her a perfect cover for a double agent. Yeah. Yeah, well thank God you’re okay. I’ll put a new guard at the door, alright?

Obviously this recent development sure puts a new spin on Xander Cook being the assassin. And maybe the guy today was the same one that shot you, came back to try and finish the job. It’s very possible. Yeah. Yeah, there’s a lot we gotta dig into. But first, we gotta find Goldman.

Speak. Is it done? He’s still alive. What? Are you kidding me? Damn, what, uh, What does he got, a guardian angel or something? What the hell happened this time? I don’t know. Maybe Tamara botched it. Maybe he chickened out. Maybe he double crossed me. I saw him run off. And then Then what? Tell me. I’ve been made.

Are you sure? I could tell by the way Harris looked at me. He knows. Well, why didn’t you take him out? A nurse walked in, but there were too many witnesses. I I had to take off.

Alright. We’re just gonna have to move up the timeline then. You know what you have to do next. What about Tripp and Wendy? They’ve seen my face. They know who I am. Well, that’s your problem, sweetheart. And I suggest you solve it. Fast.

Let me get this straight. Jada Hunter has a wedding photo of the two of you as bride and groom? Crazy, right? I’d say so. I thought I must just look like the guy. We’re like twins. Well, it does happen. Um. Adrian Kariakis and Bonnie Lockhart. Look almost identical. Two different women. Different personalities.

Only one of which is tolerable. I mean, that’s the thing. I mean, doppelgangers do exist. It is a phenomena. But Jade, she was hell bent on proving that I’m this Bobby Stein, and so she She ran my fingerprints, and um,

I, I can’t believe this, but um, yeah, they came up as a, as a match, to Bobby’s. Fingerprints don’t lie. I know. I know that. I mean, uh, that’s why it’s such a nightmare for me. I mean, granted, there are, there are gaps in my memory since the accident. I just, how could I have forgotten that much of my life? It doesn’t, it doesn’t make any sense.

No, it doesn’t. Unless you’re lying.

You know, it warms my heart how much you love my mom. I mean, to head after everything that’s happened. You losing your memory, us being kept away from her, and we both found our way back. It was a miracle. It was. And I have to say, your love for each other, you and mom’s, it really does give me hope. It reminds me that even through the darkest times, Dad, we can still find a way to push to the light.

Paulina, a person who donates their heart or other organs when they die is never ever coerced. They do that because it’s It’s their wish. And it’s a kind and enormous gesture. And in a strange way, it Let’s a part of them continue on in the world after they’ve gone. So no guilt, okay? O okay. No guilt. Oh, Marlena, you’re so good to me.

Always there for me. Well, when Lonnie didn’t know I was a mama, when I needed advice about AIDS,

He is my honor. Always has been to be there for you. Right now. I think you need to rest. Uh, yeah. Yes, I do. Oh, I feel at peace now. I think I finally know what I need to do next.

Yeah, I need you to put out a BOLO, an Officer Rebecca Goldman. Yep, that’s the Becca Goldman. Yeah, you have the description. Consider her armed and dangerous. I want her brought in immediately. Man, the rest of the force is going to be blown away when I get that call. Yeah, and now that we’ve exposed our dirty cop, this is all starting to make sense.

I mean, it’s no wonder Goldman shot Clyde’s guy in the drug bust. Obviously, she needed that drug dealer dead, otherwise he would have let us write to Clyde.

Steve.

Tell me that you’ve made some progress on that video with Kip. The waiting is killing me.

Can you call me?

Can you call me and just tell me that you found our son?

Where the hell is that coming from?

Hello?

I’m not lying. I’m not. Everything I’ve told you is all I know. I mean, my God, I would never deceive Stephanie. Or anyone, for that matter. It’s just, it’s not who I am. I’ve always tried. As far as I know, to be a, a, a decent person, you know, caring and loyal and, and hardworking.

I really hope you believe me, Julie. Because I think you’re a wonderful person, and frankly, I just, I need someone to believe me, to not, to not hate me. I don’t hate you. Why would I hate you? I will leave you, Everett.

Thank you.

You say you like Horton family stories, I’ll tell you a Horton family story. My uncle Tommy, who was my mother’s twin, went off to serve in the Korean War. Did not come home. We all assumed he was dead. Years later He appears in Salem, in the company of my Uncle Bill, and neither one of them knew that they were brothers.

This is what happened. While he was overseas, Uncle Tommy developed amnesia. He was captured, and his face was disfigured when he was a prisoner of war. Somewhere along the way he got plastic surgery after that. Looked completely different. Not to mention he had another name. Dr. Mark Brooks. Wow. But, and, how did he figure out who he really was?

Oh, um, my grandfather, Dr. Tom, and my uncle, Mickey, started an investigation. Precipitated by my grandmother, Alice, standing behind that sofa. And noticing a little tiny birthmark on the back of Tommy’s neck. Are you serious? Very interesting. Yeah, interesting. Heartwarming, in the end. Well, I hope when you find out your story you don’t discover that you and Stephanie are related and then she has to run off to a nunnery.

Fingers crossed. I am very sorry. For what you’re going through. And what a blow this must be to Stephanie. I mean, that’s, uh, That’s the hardest part. I mean, she’s just really hurt and confused. Understandably so. I just Got her back, Julie, and now I lost her again.

Maybe forever. Either way, you have to find out about your past. Or like my Uncle Tommy, you’ll never be free.

Well, okay, if we come into Oh, please. I brought you some more ice chips. Oh, thank you, baby. Would you, uh, like some coffee I brought? Oh, Heavens no. It’ll keep me up all night. But, you know, I really should be going.

Well, thank you so much for coming, Marlena. Hopefully, I’ll see you soon. Yes, I’ll be thinking about all of you. And please, hug those babies for me. I will. Good. Marlena? I’ll see you pretty soon. Soon. Thank you again. We’re in this together.

So, sweetheart, are you feeling better? Ah, better.

I need you to do something for me. Anything, Mama. I need you to get my laptop. Now? What do you need it for? I want you to help me draft my last will, testament.

How could I have missed the signs? How? I trusted Goldman completely. She fooled everybody, boss. Why did she do this? Why, money? Could be Clyde has something on her, forcing her to do his work. Whatever it is, it’s gotta be big. It’s gotta be, and who’s to say that Clyde’s not the only one who has, who has people out there pulling strings.

I mean, there could be judges, there could be other cops, uh, what, prison personnel? We have to bring Goldman in. We’re gonna break her down and get her to tell us whether she has accomplices. Yeah. And when we do that, we’re gonna use her. We are gonna use her to bring Clyde to his knees. I am telling you. We are gonna end that monster once and for all.

Well, hello there, little lady. You son of a bitch. How dare you take my son after everything I have done for you. Everything you’ve done for me? What about what you haven’t done? And now let’s get this straight. The fact that your boy isn’t there with you right now is nobody’s fault but your own. Okay, you listen to me, if you hurt Trip at all, I will personally drive a semi truck through the gates of Statesville and I will choke the life out of you.

Do you hear me loud and clear, but it’s real simple. You do exactly what I say and your boy will be fine.

I should have had a will made up a long time ago. But I just assumed I would live forever. Saw no reason to rush it. But now, you know, I might, might get, wait, listen for God knows how long before I get a new heart. So I need to make sure my affairs Are in order

I understand mom and you know now that Eli and I have kids we’re gonna have our wills made up as well Yes, am I. Okay, that’s fine. It’s fine for y’all to be copycats. But how about you just let me be first, okay? Of course. Okay. So, sweetheart, I’m gonna dictate it to you and you take notes, okay? Okay. I’m ready.

Uh, here it goes. I, Paulina Price, declare this to be my last will and testament.

I am married to Abraham Carver. I have two children. Children, Lonnie Price, and Chanel Dupree. Well, as much fun as this has been, I gotta call it a night. Then, uh, pick it up another time. Yeah, I’d like that. I know Doug’s waiting up for me. Oh, while you were in the garage I called him, and I said, you were here, and you were taking care of me, and he was very glad to hear that.

Well, it’s my pleasure to be able to take care of you. You and your husband have been so wonderful to me since I arrived to town, inviting me over for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve. You’re a, you’re a good guy, Everett. And I hope when you do find out the secret of your past, you tell me all about it. I’d love to, but, uh, I have a feeling you’ll find out before I can tell you.

Word spreads pretty fast in this town. Yes, it does, doesn’t it? I know when you do know the truth, it’s gonna give you peace of mind. Well, goodnight. Thank you, Julie. I told you

I’d put a new guard outside, but if I don’t know who I can trust I guess I could call in help from another agency. I’m sure Clyde doesn’t have people everywhere, but sure as hell feels like it right now. I can take care of myself. Can you just do me one favor? Yeah, name it. Bring me my gun. Now, what I’m about to tell you stays between you and me.

No cops, no stiff. Okay. Instead of you coming to Statesville to do me in, you’re gonna get your little fanny over here and break me out. Are you out of your mind? A prison break? How the hell am I supposed to pull that off? Well, it’s time for you to shapeshift from that doting mama to vitally mom princess.

You can call your family. You got the numbers. I know you do. No. No, I can’t do that. Oh, yes, you can, and you will. Cause if I’m not out of this prison in 24 hours, that bambino of yours is going to be pushing up daisies.

Ridge: I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through. This woman breaking in here and attacking you, and… you having to defend yourself. I just am so happy that–

Steffy: I’m just really glad that you’re here. I know the threat is gone, but it’s nice that I’m not alone right now.

Ridge: I’ll always be here. Whatever you need. And your husband should be here too. Where’s finn?

[ Finn groans ]

Finn: You must think I’m insane for reacting this way.

Hope: No, finn, I… I don’T. Look, the woman who gave you life has died. You are allowed to grieve that.

Finn: Yeah, but the woman that she was and the… and the things that she did? You know, it’s not like I’ve forgotten.

Hope: Of course you haven’T. I mean, finn, but, look, to everyone else, we just… myself included, we just knew her for… for the crazy, for the crimes. But to you?

Finn: But to me, she was my mother. She was this woman who brought me into the world. And… and now she’S… she’s gone. She’s dead. That’s because of steffy.

Rj: She’s dead?

Thomas: Yeah.

Rj: Oh, my god. Is steffy okay?

Zende: Carter just filled me in. It’s really true. Steffy killed sheila.

Rj: Wait, the kids. Were– were they–

Thomas: No. Kelly and hayes weren’t home. Yeah, steffy was by herself when sheila broke in.

Rj: Steffy must be in shock right now.

Thomas: Yeah, she’s shaken up, that’s for sure. Look, steffy hated sheila, but she never intended to kill her.

Steffy: I told sheila to leave, but she kept inching closer and closer to me. I thought she had a gun, and then she lunged at me. I mean, I was trying to protect myself.

Ridge: I know, I understand. Everybody does.

Steffy: Even finn?

[ Loud knocking ]

Ridge: Oh, deacon, what’s up?

Deacon: You killed sheila?

Finn: I just– I can’t believe that this is happening. I… I keep seeing sheila’s blood on the floor, the way it looked, and on my hand, and I mean… I mean, she was murdered in my house by my wife.

Hope: But steffy must be horrified too. I mean, what she went through tonight?

Finn: You know, she says it was self-defense, and not that I don’t believe her, it’s just… hope, this is– this is overwhelming.

Hope: I mean, this is– this is going to take time for both you and steffy.

Finn: I couldn’t even look at her.

Hope: Steffy?

Finn: Yeah. I couldn’t hold my wife. I– I couldn’t touch her. I don’t want to… I don’t want to say this, but I don’t think I can… I don’t think I can be in that house. Wanna know how I get this glow?!

Zende: Do you think that steffy could be in trouble for this?

Rj: No. Well, I mean, she already tried to kill steffy once. She shot my mom and yours. I mean… I mean, I’m not gonna say I’m sad that she’s gone.

Thomas: I agree. And in terms of the police, my dad texted me, told me that chief baker was there asking some questions and I’m sure that’s totally normal in this kind of situation. Look, we’re gonna do everything in our power to protect her.

Steffy: I don’t know what you heard, but–

Deacon: Is it true, steffy? Did you kill sheila? I mean, finn wouldn’t lie about that, would he?

Ridge: Finn?

Steffy: Finn told you?

Deacon: See, he said that, uh, she wasn’t gonna be coming back and the police were involved. And I thought– I thought maybe she came back here and you had her arrested. You convinced the police–

Steffy: There was no time to call the police. Sheila was on a mission. She tried to lunge at me! I grabbed a knife. It was self-defense.

Deacon: You wanted her dead. You said that at my place. You taunted her.

Ridge: What are you implying here?

Deacon: Was this premeditated? Did you plan this?

Steffy: Premeditated? What are you talking about? I wanted a night with my husband. That lunatic came onto my property.

Ridge: And she attacked my daughter. Left her no choice. No choice at all. And sheila got what she deserved.

Finn: I wasn’t there when it– when it happened. I– I didn’t witness it, but… every time I close my eyes, I see it. I see steffy holding the knife and stabbing sheila. I can’t– I can’t get the image out of my head.

Hope: No, but you will though. Eventually. I promise. Your brain is just trying to– to make sense of all of this.

Finn: Well, you probably thought sheila had it coming.

Hope: I think, uh, I think my feelings on the matter are very complicated. And if that’s true for me, I can only imagine what you’re going through. Finn, I know you don’t condone the things that sheila has done. And yet you still feel a connection to her. And that is understandable. You have every right to grieve the loss of your mother. I just want you to– to also focus on what is most important. And that is the fact that your family is okay. Steffy, the kids, they’re safe. So, if you focus on that, eventually, everything will be all right.

Finn: Yeah, will it though?

Hope: I– I mean, some people might have a hard time understanding what you’re going through. But, uh, I get it. And I can assure you your feelings are valid. So, I– I’m here for you. Whatever you need. (Man) mm, hey, honey.

Deacon: Got what she deserved? My god, ridge, are you really that cruel?

Ridge: You do remember what she did to my family.

Deacon: I know that she changed.

Ridge: Really?

Deacon: I’d never seen anybody work so hard to better themselves. All she ever wanted was to be accepted.

Ridge: So, the woman that broke in here, attacked my daughter again, that’s the better version of sheila? Is that what you’re saying?

Deacon: I don’t understand this. This doesn’t make sense.

Ridge: Nothing she ever did made sense.

Deacon: Steffy, are you sure that you– you didn’t misinterpret something that–

Steffy: Interpret? Deacon, what are you talking about? She broke into my home. She refused to leave.

Ridge: It’s okay. That’s enough. My daughter had a bit of a rough night. What she needs right now is support. It seems to me you came over here to defend some idiot who you think was in love with you. It’s time to go.

Deacon: You didn’t know her. Not like I did. She was in love with me. This wasn’t something that I– I made up in my head. This wasn’t a lie. You know what? I loved her too.

Finn: Thanks for saying that and for being here. Just… the problem is, is I don’t know what I need. It’s just– I just wish none of this ever happened.

Hope: Well, uh, maybe think of it this way. Even if it didn’t, sheila was still being sheila. She was out there in the dark, in that storm, terrorizing your wife, so realistically, finn, I mean, I don’t know how much of a future relationship was there for you. I think a little too much damage has been done.

Finn: No, I know. I know, and I didn’T… want any of that. I wasn’t hoping for that.

Hope: Look, I get you probably spent most of your life wondering about who your birth mother was. You know, daydreaming about her and… then you got sheila.

[ Finn chuckles wryly ] So, I think maybe you should focus on the blessings that you actually do have in your life. You know, your work, helping others, the friends that care about you, the mother who actually was there for you who did raise you. And not to mention, steffy. Kelly, hayes… your beautiful family.

Finn: Oh, you’re right. You’re absolutely right. And I– I… I don’t know why I’m reacting this way.

Hope: Because you’re human. And sheila was still your mom.

Finn: But she shot me. And she shot my wife. And that is what I should be picturing when I close my eyes. Not sheila’s blood, but my blood and my wife’S. Thank you, hope. Thank you.

Ridge: I can’t believe that idiot came all the way over here to accuse you. Sorry.

Steffy: What if deacon goes to the police? What if he tells them that I wanted sheila dead?

Ridge: We all wanted sheila dead. That’s not news. We wanted that for decades. The police know that. And they’re gonna come and they’re gonna interview you, and we’re gonna have attorneys here and it’s gonna be fine because you’re covered.

Steffy: Yeah, I hope you’re right. I just wish finn were here.

Ridge: I can’t believe he’s not here.

[ Door opens ]

Steffy: Finn. Deacon was just here. He told me that you went to his apartment. You told him?

Finn: Yeah, I, uh… yeah, I felt the need to… to go there and… you know, where she lived and feel close to her.

Ridge: What? Close to her? What are you talking about?

Steffy: Dad, dad–

Ridge: You need to be here. You need to be here for your wife.

Steffy: Hey, I love you, but I need to talk to finn, okay? Alone.

Ridge: Okay. Hey… sheila is dead. I’m sorry to hurt your feelings. You need to be here. Your wife, your kids, your house, your responsibility.

Steffy: I hate that you’re upset. Your birth mother died tonight. I understand why you’re upset. I’m upset. I took a life tonight. I never wanted this. Finn, I am… I am so sorry. Everything you’re going through right now, everything you’re feeling, just know that I am so, so sorry.

[Bell dings]

Thomas: So, how’d it go? Breaking the news to your dad?

Hope: I, uh, didn’t see him. Actually, by the time I got there, he had already gone. Someone told him.

Thomas: Oh, well, who got to him first?

Hope: Finn.

Thomas: Finn?

Hope: I walked in and he was just sitting on the couch holding a photo of sheila. I just, I don’t know. I think he was trying to wrap his head around it all, or maybe he wanted to be in the house where she last lived.

Thomas: But, I mean, sheila’s not some normal doting mother. She’s a psychopath.

Hope: Well, yeah, I’m– I’m aware, but…

Thomas: But?

Hope: Finn still feels a connection to her.

Thomas: To sheila.

Hope: Come on, thomas, wouldn’t you?

Thomas: Look, I– I feel bad for finn and the dna hand he was dealt, but at some point you have to accept it and move on.

[ Hope sighs ]

Hope: Well, hopefully, our little talk helped with that.

Thomas: I’m sure it did.

Hope: Mm. I think I got through to him. Yeah, I… feel bad, but I really tried to drive the point home, you know, get him to realize where he belongs right now.

Thomas: Yeah, with steffy, right? His wife. That’s exactly where he needs to be.

Steffy: Did it help going to deacon’s?

Finn: Uh, I don’t know. Maybe. None of this makes sense, how I’m reacting. It’s just what you… you know, what happened tonight and what you did, it’s– it’s– it’s horrible. It’s surreal.

Steffy: But I want to be able to– to face this with you, because, honestly, I– I don’t think I can, I don’t think I can do this alone.

Finn: Look, you won’t have to, okay? I’m your husband. I’m here with you. And I’m so thankful that you and… that you and the kids are all right.

[ Steffy gasps emotionally ] You know, knowing what you faced tonight, and that you could be terrorized in any way, or traumatized.

Steffy: No, no. We’re gonna survive this. We are, because, finn, we can get through anything together. We can overcome any obstacle, okay?

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: Thank you for coming home. Oh, god. Oh… oh, I needed this. I just need to feel close to you. Finn?

Finn: I don’t know what’s wrong with me. You know I love you and you know that I, um… I feel about you and you know that I just… you know, I want to get back to our beautiful little life, but… I think, um… I think everything that’s, uh, that’s happened, and just, just kind of be, like being here, and um, I– I think I just maybe need a little more, um… I think I need a little more time, okay? I think I just need some–

Steffy: What?

Finn: Some time. No, it’s just, um… everything that’S… that’s happened, and I know that sheila isn’t– isn’t, um… she– she didn’t raise me, but she is my mother, and I… I– I can’t, I’m sorry, I can’t– steffy, I can’t be here.

Steffy: Finn. Finn…

Finn: I can’T. I can’T.

Steffy: Finn, what are you doing? Finn! Finn, what are– come on!

Days Opinions For The Week Of February 26, 2024

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Everett from Days

We have trouble believing that Everett didn’t remember who he was in the past. When he saw Jada at the pub, he walked away as if he recognized her. Once she realized who he was, he suddenly didn’t remember his past. We think there’s more to Everett than meets the eye. It’s easy for him to pretend that he has amnesia because no one can prove that he doesn’t. We won’t be surprised if it turns out that he’s faking his amnesia.

Speaking of Everett’s amnesia, Stephanie acts as if it affects her more than Everett. She had an attitude while Marlena was talking to him like she was the victim. Jada was the victim in the story not Stephanie. Stephanie didn’t have a reason to act as if Everett betrayed her. Now we’re supposed to believe she and Jada were such good friends that she will break up with Everett if it turns out he lied about not knowing who he was.

The writers shouldn’t have had EJ understand that Johnny got married without inviting him to his wedding. Johnny could have invited EJ to it. He claimed they didn’t want to stress out Paulina, but his father should have been invited to the wedding. Johnny didn’t have any family at the wedding so Paulina would have understood if EJ was at the wedding.

Why was Tate suddenly upset with Brady and Theresa? They did everything they could to help Tate yet now he suddenly doesn’t want anything to do with them. He had some nerve talking to them the way he did. Brady and Theresa could have let him stay in prison if they didn’t care about him. He treated them like it was their fault he was in trouble. Tate got himself in trouble.

Eli and Lani came back to Salem to visit Paulina. While they were talking about the twins, they mentioned that they were with Doug and Julie. What were the odds that they didn’t mention the fire? We know Paulina’s in the hospital, but Eli is a Horton. You would think he would have been concerned about the Horton house burning down. It was his grandmother’s house yet he didn’t say a word about the fire at the hospital.

Devon: So Billy’s going away on a short business trip, and he has provisions for me. He wants me to bring chance in on everything while he’s gone. Even though chance is brand new and can’t make decisions. So, why would he do that?

Abby: But you have an idea.

Devon: I do, yeah. I think that he wants to have a fly on the wall here. So that nothing happens without him knowing about it. Or he’s just flexing his power.

Abby: Wait, do you know when lily’s coming back?

Devon: I don’t. That’s a great question. Which means I have to figure out how to work with Billy in the meantime.

Abby: Hmm. Well, that’s not stressful at all.

Devon: Oh, yeah. It’s just unfortunate, because it makes things a lot less productive around here than they need to be.

Abby: And it’s draining. I mean, I know, I had one of the worst business partners ever in phyllis. It doesn’t get any worse than that. I mean, Billy can’t possibly be that bad, right?

Devon: They’re different. I don’t want to badmouth anybody in your family, but I think that they’re equally bad in their own ways.

Abby: I hate seeing you like this. Is there anything I can do to help?

Devon: No, no. I appreciate it, but this is something that I have to deal with on my own, and I will. I’m actually kind of happy that Billy’s going to be going out of town. Because even with chance in the mix, I think things will run a lot smoother with him being gone.

Billy: Hey, why don’t you take it easy. I’m not telling you how to be a parent. I made a comment because I’m looking out for Connor.

Adam: You think I’m not looking out for my son? Okay, is this how you plan to console Connor, by insulting his father?

Chelsea: No, we are not doing this. We are not doing this. We are not fighting. We are not wasting precious energy arguing. Remember what Sharon said? We have to take this one step at a time and not jump to conclusions.

Adam: Okay, all I’m saying is we should not take what the therapist says at face value. We should get a second opinion. Hell, we maybe should get a third opinion, Chelsea.

Chelsea: Which is what jumping to conclusions means, Adam!

Adam: It doesn’t.

Chelsea: We haven’t even heard what the specialist has said yet, okay? But we have to listen to the doctor who specializes in this exact issue. And you know what Connor doesn’t need right now? He doesn’t need to feel the tension between you two, fighting and me playing referee. If you both can’t control yourself, then maybe you both should stay home.

Danny: No, I want you to stop, okay? All right? Nothing has changed. We are not– I repeat– we are not getting back together. I don’t have romantic feelings for you. We are friends, co-parents. That’s it!

Phyllis: Well, I know this. I know there’s something between us.

[ Danny sighs ] And it’s very, very powerful. I feel it. Listen, when I look at you and Christine, there’s no spark. It’s like watching paint dry.

Danny: Which is the other reason why we’re not gonna have this conversation. Because I do not want to be this dodgeball that you two keep throwing at each other.

Phyllis: Well, that’s a bad metaphor. Because if it were dodgeball, Christine would be on the floor by now.

Danny: Okay, that’s not funny.

Phyllis: It’s a little bit funny.

Danny: No, it’s not.

Phyllis: Hey, listen to me. I know your hesitation. I understand it. I didn’t expect this either. It caught me by surprise. I didn’t expect you to walk into my life at this late date and feel this way.

Danny: I’m not buying a word you’re saying.

Nikki: Good morning, Esther.

Esther: Nikki, hi. It’s so nice to see you. Uh… that man behind you, is he your bodyguard?

Nikki: Yes, he is.

Esther: Well, wha– what does that mean? A– a– are you in danger? I– I wa– I wasn’t trained for anything like this. I– is– is there gonna be trouble?

Nikki: No, I’m not anticipating any.

Esther: Oh, that’s good. I think.

Nikki: So, I would like a hot tea, please, raspberry and bring an extra one for Larry here. Everything will be fine. Thank you for your concern.

Esther: Oh, well, you’re like family to me, Nikki. Of course I worry.

Michael: I love what you’ve done with the place.

Claire: Yeah, it’s hard to make this place homey.

Michael: Hm. Maybe some other art? Perhaps a colorful throw.

Claire: I’ve decided I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get out of here. I want to take victor up on his offer.

Michael: Wow. Oh. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to hear from you so soon.

Claire: There’s no reason to wait. The sooner my aunt’s dealt with, the better. Do you think you can arrange my release?

[ Michael chuckling ]

Michael: I’ve already got the ball rolling.

Claire: But I’ve only just decided.

Michael: That’s true.

Claire: Victor told me to call you if and when I was willing to go along with his plan. He said it was my decision to make. Is that a lie?

Claire: My therapy doesn’t have to stop. I can keep doing it outpatient. I will not miss this room or the food.

Cole: Wait a minute, I thought you loved the pudding.

Claire: There is one thing I’ll miss. Visiting the kids in the children’s ward.

Cole: Well, I don’t see why you can’t keep that up. I mean, you could visit after your therapy sessions. I think that’s something we could figure out.

Claire: I’d love that. It’s the highlight of my day right now.

Ashley: Didn’t we already have this conversation?

Audra: It’s my turn to do the talking.

Ashley: Oh. I don’t suppose you’ll leave if I ask you nicely?

Audra: You know, Tucker told me you went up to his suite last night.

Ashley: Oh, did he?

Audra: Yeah, we don’t keep secrets. Our relationship is based on honesty.

Ashley: Oh, that’s so sweet. Are we done now?

Audra: You’re done with Tucker.

[ Ashley laughs ]

Ashley: Well, that’s not your call.

Audra: You know this game you’re playing? You miraculously decide that you were wrong about Paris, that tucker wasn’t violent, and so you sneak up to his suite and ambush him with your new truth?

Ashley: Wow, tucker really did overshare, didn’t he?

Audra: It’s not gonna work, Ashley. If you’ve changed your mind and decided that you now want a future with tucker, it’s too late. Okay, you blew it. So you need to back off. He’s with me now.

Ashley: But you’re not sure about that, are you? And that’s why you’re here. Because you’re very afraid that he’s not over me, aren’t you?

Audra: You’ve hurt tucker for the last time. So if you try to seduce him as part of your sick plan, you’re gonna have to deal with me.

Devon: Okay, Billy, you’re just going to have to take my word about Lenny Flanagan, because he’s always been a smart, innovative, stand-up guy for us.

Billy: That’s great. He sounds like a great guy, Devon. I believe you. We’ll invite him to the barbecue, okay? But I’ve looked at the file. There’s nothing in here but a bunch of smoke. His last two business ventures, they didn’t go anywhere. Nothing happened with them.

Devon: Oh, that’s– I think it’s very funny that you’re ready to judge someone off their track record before even meeting them.

Billy: What’s that? A little– little dig at me? Is that what that is?

Devon: I mean, you can take it however you’d like, Billy. The only thing I’m asking is if you will set aside some time to speak with Lenny and hear what he has to say before you just dismiss him, all right? Because there is something to be said about working with people that you have faith in.

Billy: And all I’m saying is that we have plenty of potentially lucrative deals waiting in the pipeline. We don’t have to waste time, resources, and money on warm, fuzzy feelings.

***********************************”

Billy: With all due respect, Esther, what Devon and i are doing, I wouldn’t– I wouldn’t say it’s bickering.

Devon: Yeah, no, it’s a difference of opinions, really. And it’s nothing to worry about.

Esther: Oh, I would love to not worry about it. But this company is important to me.

Devon: I know it is.

Billy: And we’re grateful for that.

Esther: You know, I am really good at reading situations and emotions. You know, I’ve lived at the chancellor mansion for decades, and it wasn’t just about cake-wrestling and catfights. More times than I can count. There was so much tension in there, you could cut it with a knife. And that’s what I’m picking up from the two of you.

Devon: I think you’re reading a little more into it than I was.

Esther: I know. Correct me if I’m wrong, which I am not. What I’m getting at, Devon, is you resent having to work with Billy, because you’d rather work with your sister, because you and lily work well together. And Billy, you resent Devon resenting you, which is just going to be a problem given your career history. All I’m asking is that you please just take a minute and think of how upset your fathers, john and neil, would be if they saw what you were bringing all this petty conflict to the people that are counting on you to make this business the success that it needs to be.

Danny: Look, Daniel’s not here. I have nothing more to say to you.

Phyllis: Well, it’s your favorite, brunello. I know you want it, even if you’re still angry at me.

Phyllis: Is that so hard? I just wanna have a little chat with you first.

Danny: Phyllis, I ca–

Phyllis: Just a little chat, please. Danny, I need to say this. I’m not the one doing the competing here.

Danny: You gotta be kidding me.

Phyllis: I’m not. I mean the old me, yeah, for sure. The old me would’ve loved this. Ticking off the sa– the most sanctimonious person on the planet. Yeah, but not me now. Okay, listen, I’ve had a brutal year. Oh, massively painful. You know that. And you have helped me so much. I feel like I really am changing. I’ve really worked hard to change and you’ve been there with me every step of the way, encouraging me when nobody else in this town would do that. And– and I realized that since the moment I met you, I made your life turmoil. I realized that. I’m not proud of the things I’ve done. I’m not proud of them at all. I’m ashamed. But I feel like I took responsibility for them and just every day, I’m changing and changing. I just kind of wanted to do that with you. Do you know what I mean? Devon: Good. So, listen, Billy, we, uh– I, uh, I had that conversation with lily about your request to add abbott to the company name and we have an answer for you.

Billy: Why do I feel I’m not gonna like where this is headed?

Devon: Well, listen man, we– we certainly respect your sense of legacy when it comes to your name for Jill’s sake, but lily and I feel like we already have a very strong brand name in place.

Billy:  Well, true, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be modified.

Devon: True. Another big concern we have though is it might confuse people.

Billy: Confuse people. How so?

Devon: Well, because the name Abbott, for as long as I can remember, has been synonymous with Jabot. And people might start thinking that our companies are linked when they’re not.

Billy: Yeah, I don’t see that happening. Two very distinct niches.

Devon: Well, either way, uh, lily and I feel like making a name change will shake things up just too much right now.

Billy: Adding Abbott to the chancellor-winter’s name is hardly shaking things up, Devon. In fact, it further defines this company. It gives it a broader reach, it gives it more name recognition.

Devon: And I hear all the points you’re making, Billy. And I’m still sorry to tell you that we’re gonna be keeping the name Chancellor-Winters as is.

Amanda: Well, Jill will be very sorry to hear that.

**********************************************

Phyllis:  that there’s something going on between me and Danny?

Christine: Oh, my god, because you are stalking him. Big difference from an actual relationship.

Danny: I seem to remember asking you both to give me some time and some space and yet here you are back in my place again. What don’t you understand about boundaries? I’m confused here.

Phyllis: I never really believed in boundaries, to be honest. And I think that we could both agree, there’s nothing wrong with going after love.
