Phyllis: Why is it I’m just hearing about those two psychopaths?

Summer: I didn’t know about Jordan and Claire until very recently, either.

Phyllis: And– and you, we– we– we had a real talk, and you failed to tell me that that– that Jordan person, she poisoned your whole family. And she stabbed you, and she escaped twice.

Nick: I just don’t know why Claire would do this. She was so happy at the party last night, like genuinely thrilled to be a part of this family. Why do it? What could she possibly gain from this?

Phyllis: The only thing that matters to me right now is that Harrison gets home safe.

Nick: Yes, of course, he is the number one priority.

*******************************

Victoria: And we denied it. Adamantly.

Cole: Yeah, well, it’s because she poisoned us.

Victoria: Yeah, but even after that, when she was in jail, we still didn’t believe her.

Cole: Well, we had reason for that. We thought she had died, and we hadn’t learned the lie.

Victoria: But what if that harsh interaction left an impression on her? What if it caused a wound so deep that she couldn’t get over it?

Cole: But the minute that we got the DNA results, we were all in with helping her.

Victoria: But was it too late? I mean, in her mind, that we were rejecting her again? And prove Jordan right? That we didn’t want her to begin with?

Cole: Well, she– she might have felt that way at first. But after she did all of that work with the doctors–

Summer: Stop, please. Just can you all stop giving cCaire an out? You let her into your lives and you let her into your home and look at what’s happened. She tricked you all again.

[ Phone ringing ]

*************************************

Summer: I am so sick of you all blindly trusting Claire. And I’m furious at Kyle for leaving Harrison alone with her, knowing how I felt about her.

Victoria: She’s your cousin. She’s my daughter. Your own father has forgiven her. You would think that you’d be able to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Summer: When my child is missing?

Cole: What possible motive could she have?

Victoria: Exactly. Her sole focus has been getting stronger. She’s been overcoming all kinds of psychological and emotional abuse that she’s suffered from her aunt Jordan, who, by the way, she’s cut all ties with and tried to draw close to her true family, which includes you, by the way. Do you know she’s trying so hard to be your friend?

Kyle: You have a good time tonight, bud?

Harrison: But they didn’t have cake.

Kyle: Well, maybe next time.

Harrison: Do you think they liked my present?

Kyle: Great-grandma and grandpa? Are you kidding? They loved it. Nikki said she put it in a place of honor, right?

Harrison: Yeah.

***************************************

Kyle: Oh, you are the hero of the hour. Harrison will be so relieved to see that, thank you.

Claire: Oh, it was no big deal. I just happened to see Lucky-Bun sitting there.

Kyle: Right, yes, his new name. But you didn’t have to bring it all the way over. You could’ve called and i would’ve picked it up in the morning.

Claire: And risked the bad luck jinx?

Kyle: You got me there. Clearly, I have never had a lucky charm.

Claire: Well, they’re very important things, you know. A friend, a protector, something to count on, no matter what. I know it sounds childish, but–

Kyle: No, no, not at all. What were you about to say?

Claire: I know how important it is to Harrison and I didn’t want my new little friend to go even a single night without it. I know when I got my lucky charm taken away, I… I didn’t sleep for a week.

Billy: Hey.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: You expecting anyone?

Lily: No.

Billy: Do you mind if I join you? I hate eating alone.

Lily: Uh, hold on. Not if you’re gonna talk about me firing daniel and heather.

Billy: I come in peace. I promise I won’t even mention it.

Lily: Okay, fine. But if you break that promise, you’re gonna have to leave.

Devon: So, I read your analysis on the kingston acquisition and I agree 100% that they need to bring that number way down.

Nate: Oh, yeah. Way down.

Devon: Yeah. And you can be the one to tell them. But good job.

Nate: Thanks.

Devon: You’re welcome. Hey, pretty lady.

Abby: Hello. Hi! Well, I like seeing this. You two working so well together.

Devon: Oh, yeah. This is a well-oiled machine right here, right?

Nate: Uh, yeah, the machine can use a little extra oil every now and then, but, uh, it’s coming along.

Abby: Well, as the newest board member, I take full credit for all these good vibes.

Devon: Oh, yeah. That’s 100% ’cause of you.

[ Both chuckling ]

Nate: No argument from me there. Well, I, uh, better go make that phone call.

Devon: Yes, and hey, would you mind coming back here in about a half hour?

Nate: Uh, sure thing.

Devon: Thank you.

Nate: All right.

Abby: Half an hour?

Devon: Yeah.

Abby: Isn’t that when the board meeting’s supposed to start?

Devon: Well, yes, it is.

Abby: Devon?

Devon: Hm?

Abby: What are you up to?

Victoria: Mom, no. No, it is a terrible idea.

Nikki: It’s the only way to get jordan to come out of hiding.

Victoria: By using yourself as bait? And then what? Huh? I mean, we don’t know what kind of weapons jordan might have or what the fallout might be if she senses that it’s a trap. I– harrison and claire are at this woman’s mercy. No, mom, it is too risky for all of you.

Nikki: You don’t understand.

Victoria: I do understand. I do. You want to help. I– I get that. We all do. But the best thing that any of us can do is just let dad and the authorities, let them handle this.

Nikki: I am the one she wants. I am the one that caused this by allowing her to live.

Victoria: No, mom, we all made that choice. You and me and claire, we made a pact that we did not want to become who she is.

Nikki: And because of that, harrison has been kidnapped. And probably claire as well.

Victoria: Probably? Are you saying that you still have doubts about claire’s innocence?

Victor: Hi, my sweetheart. Come here. Come here. Cry all you want, okay? We’re all here for you.

Summer: I’m scared, grandpa. I’m scared.

Victor: I know you’re scared. But we have a plan. We’re gonna bring harrison home safe and sound, right?

Kyle: Thanks for coming by, man.

Chance: Yeah, of course.

Jack: Were you able to get any information from your friends on the force?

Chance: Nothing new so far, but they’re chasing every tip that comes in.

Summer: And my son is still out there with two insane people.

Victor: Sweetheart, I know.

Summer: This is awful. I mean, who does this to a child?

Victor: I know. We’re doing everything we can. I promise you, we’ll bring harrison home. You’ve got to believe that. Come here. The virus that causes shingles is sleeping…

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Billy: Thank you. So, how’s mattie? Is she back in grad school?

Lily: Uh, yes, she is. Um, she’s doing better. I mean, the struggle for her was real, right? But she’s good. She’s a very resilient, strong young woman.

Billy: Just like her mom.

Lily: Yeah, I don’t know about that these days. But, um, no, I’m just happy that she’s back in school and has her life back.

Billy: How’s charlie doing?

Lily: Um, he’s good. He got a job at a production company in L.A.

Billy: Hm.

Lily: So, he loves it. Says it’s like taking a master class in filmmaking.

Billy: That’s cool.

Lily: Mm-hmm.

Billy: It’s got to feel good for you, too.

Lily: Mm-hmm. How are katie and johnny?

Billy: They’re good. Yeah, they’re good. My video chats with them from boarding school don’t last long enough. Half of the time they’re insisting they know more than their old man. And they’re right.

Lily: What, that you’re old?

[ Billy laughs ] No, but, um, I’m actually really sorry about what chelsea’s going through with connor.

Billy: Yeah, thank you. It’s been– it’s been tough on her, you know, talking about resilient. But she’s doing everything she can to stay on track. It’s all about helping connor get through this.

Lily: Are you and adam playing nice?

Billy: As nice as someone can play with adam.

Lily: Well, look, I mean, even if you have to fake it, fake it, right? At least for connor’s sake.

Billy: It’s all about the kid.

Lily: Good.

Billy: Look at us. Sitting here, talking. With all the ups and downs over the years. Like we’re friends.

[ Lily laughs ] Means a lot to me.

Lily: Hm.

Billy: You don’t agree?

Lily: Oh, no, personally, I agree. But professionally? I don’t trust you for a second.

Kyle: I can’t believe the police haven’t found anything solid yet.

Jack: Is that true? They have no leads?

Chance: Well, they actually did locate the driver of the floral delivery truck.

Victor: Have they talked to him?

Chance: Yeah, they took him in for questioning.

Kyle: What did he say?

Chance: He said that he stopped by a convenience store early last night to get a coffee and when he came back outside, the cab was gone.

Victor: Now, did they take a look at the security footage?

Chance: They did. A person dressed in all black, baseball cap on, got in the truck and drove off.

Jack: Was it a man or a woman?

Chance: It’s hard to tell. They tried to blow it up as much as they could, but you can’t really see anything.

Victor: We know who it is. It’s that jordan woman.

Jack: Well, it clearly couldn’t have been claire. She was at the party.

Kyle: Okay, did the security footage show the truck being taken? It must have shown jordan arriving, which means she had to have known that there was a delivery scheduled for the house.

Jack: But she couldn’t have known he would be there, could she?

Chance: Well, the driver is claiming that that stop is part of his routine. He makes it all the time.

Jack: Maybe she paid the driver off. Isn’t that possible?

Chance: Yeah, that is, but if that were the case, I think I would’ve heard about it. Now, this investigation is still at the very beginning. And, trust me, the gcpd has its eyes on everybody that could be involved.

[ Phone ringing ]

Victor: Excuse me for a moment. I’ve gotta take this.

Kyle: Okay, well, the one thing we know for sure is that claire wasn’t the driver. She was at the party and she was at the house.

Summer: And that’s all it means. It doesn’t mean that she wasn’t involved in the kidnapping.

Kyle: I’m just laying out the pieces.

Summer: It doesn’t mean that she wasn’t the point person on the inside who made it easy for jordan to come in and take our son and you are the person that invited in the danger. You let claire walk right through the front door and up to harrison’s bedroom and because of that, our son is gone.

Nikki: Of course I don’t want to believe that claire is helping jordan.

Victoria: But you do think it’s possible.

Nikki: I didn’t say that.

Victoria: No, you didn’t have to. But you’ve made it clear that you think that she could be a part of all this.

Nikki: Well, I think we at least have to consider it. I mean, could jordan have pulled this off on her own?

Victoria: That doesn’t mean that claire helped her. Come on, mom. Jordan has managed to slip through everyone’s fingers more than a few times on her own. So, why not this time?

Nikki: So, you’re saying it was a coincidence that claire was in the house at the exact same time that harrison was taken?

Victoria: I don’t know, okay? But until somebody gives me some concrete proof, I am gonna continue to believe that my daughter has been kidnapped and she’s in terrible danger. And it just scares me to death that nobody recognizes this, especially people in her own family. Claire’s own family. She has a target on her back, mom. God knows what could happen.

Nikki: I’m sorry. I– I know you’re terrified. I didn’t mean to make this worse for you.

Victoria: Look, if you have any more doubts about claire, would you do me a favor and keep them to yourself? Because I don’t want to hear it.

Nikki: Duly noted.

Victoria: Why’d you even come by here anyway? Just to tell me about this crazy plan of yours to lure jordan out into the open?

Nikki: I need claire’s phone number so I can send jordan a message.

[ Victoria sighs ]

Victoria: Mom. What if she doesn’t respond?

Nikki: Oh, she’ll respond.

Victoria: Look, dad is already working on something. Something that is far more logical and less dangerous than you offering yourself up.

Nikki: Your father’s plan is to give her money and safe passage out of the country.

Victoria: Great. Wonderful. What’s wrong with that?

Nikki: Because it won’t work. Jordan’s need for vengeance is too strong for money and freedom to mean anything.

Victoria: Oh, I see. So, all of the risk just comes right back on you.

Nikki: It could be the only way of saving them, victoria.

[ Victoria sighs ]

Victoria: All right. All right, I’ll give you claire’s number. On one condition.

[]

Nikki: All right. What is your condition?

[ Phone rings ]

Victoria: Oh, I have to get that. It might be news about claire.

Nikki: Of course.

Victoria: Hello. Hi.

Nikki: Any news?

Victoria: Oh, yeah. That was just cole. He’s on his way back from talking to security.

Nikki: Good. Then you can tell me your conditions for giving me claire’s phone number.

Victoria: Look, mom, I understand your reluctance to telling dad what you’re planning to do, given what happened the last time that we confronted jordan. Because he’s gonna do everything that he can to try to stop you.

Nikki: That’s exactly why he can’t know.

Victoria: Fine. Agreed. We leave dad out of the loop. All right? But you cannot do this alone. You need me and cole to help you with whatever it is you’re planning. And possibly nicholas, too.

Nikki: Oh, no, no. No. Not happening.

Victoria: Mom, it’s a deal-breaker. Either you let us help you with this or I’m gonna do everything in my power to stop you.

Nikki: I’m fine with you and cole. But I don’t know that I trust nicholas to not tell your father.

Kyle: Summer, I know you’re scared. And I know you’re angry. And if you wanna take it out on me, that is fine. You’re right. I’m the one that let claire in. I just don’t want to believe she is a part of this.

Summer: Why? Because she batted her sad little eyes at you? She told you horrific stories about her childhood? She conned you, kyle! You were her mark!

Kyle: Okay, why would she go along with the aunt she’s already turned her back on? You’re right. We don’t know enough for certain about claire. But we know everything we need to about jordan.

Summer: Including that claire was her accomplice.

Kyle: That’s true. She was. She did horrible things before, but why was there no mention of claire in the hostage demands? Why wasn’t there talk of safe passage for claire if they are both guilty?

Summer: To make people like you believe that she’s not.

Kyle: What purpose does that serve her now? To give up a life of family and freedom? To be a criminal on the run? You know what? I’ll say it. I’m starting to believe she is a victim too. And not only because I’m the one that let her in and hate thinking that I put our son in danger. I want harrison back more than anything and I’m sure victoria wants the same thing for claire. So, if she is in jeopardy–

Summer: I do not care about claire. I care about our son.

Kyle: And you think I don’t?

Summer: No! I think you’re a fool, wasting time worrying about the wrong person.

Jack: Okay, okay. Let’s calm down here. We need to focus on finding harrison more than fighting. Listen, the guilty parties are going to be found and punished. We just have to find them and soon.

Billy: Thank you. Well, that’s harsh. It’s good to know you can still dish it out. And here I thought we were having a nice, friendly conversation.

Lily: We are.

Billy: Let me ask you a question. Who gets up and walks away now? Because technically you broke the rules by bringing work up.

Lily: I meant I didn’t want to talk about daniel and heather.

Billy: Ah, right. My bad.

Lily: Okay, the termination has happened. We’ll deal with the lawsuit and the outcome will be what it’s gonna be. I’m talking about the bigger picture.

Billy: Bigger picture? Are you talking about my suggestion that we run the company together as partners?

Lily: Yes.

Billy: That’s interesting. I thought you were gonna do everything in your power to kick that can down the road.

Lily: No. I’ve thought about it.

Billy: Then, let me guess. You’re not on board.

Lily: Billy, the truth is is that you and I don’t agree on anything, okay? I make a decision and you have a contrary opinion.

Billy: But isn’t that the beauty of teamwork? An honest exchange of ideas?

Lily: If we were partners, we’d disagree on everything. We would never get anything done.

Billy: I would say that’s a slight exaggeration.

Lily: And that’s not the only reason why I wouldn’t do this.

Billy: Okay, there’s another reason.

Lily: I am not gonna betray my family by pushing them down to give you more power.

Billy: Did I ever ask you to do that?

Lily: You didn’t have to. That’s what would happen. And to be honest, I think that’s your plan. Right? Part of the reason why you want to add abbott to the logo, why you antagonize devon, why jill is pretty much absent from everything and leaving it all in your hands. And I think that’s why you’re trying to tempt me with an offer that you think I can’t refuse. But I mean, I have to wonder how long before you push me down in your relentless drive for power. Kerendia presents the abc’s of ckd.

Billy: Do you honestly think that I would betray you like that?

Lily: I’m just being pragmatic.

Billy: I’ve been nothing but open and honest about what I want and what I want for the company. I’m not playing games, and I’m not some random person that you gotta think the worst of.

Lily: Well, that might be true, but this is where I’m at right now. Okay? I’ve been through a lot. So, I have to exercise caution in my personal and my professional life. Which outweighs hurting anyone’s feelings. Which brings me back to you.

Billy: Yeah, what about me?

Lily: Well, when we have the board meeting this afternoon, I’m going to bring up clarifying your role in the company.

Billy: I’m no longer filling in for you, so an actual title would be a good thing.

Lily: That’s not really what I’m talking about. I’m going to urge the board to limit your power and remove you from being an officer at the company.

Victoria: How can you even say that? Look, nicholas may not like what you’re doing, but that doesn’t mean that he’s gonna go running to dad about it.

Nikki: Listen, the more people we bring into this, the more complicated it will get.

Victoria: Nicholas, he can help us in so many different ways, mom.

Nikki: Victoria, please. I am begging you. Let me do this my way.

Victoria: Hey.

Cole: Hey.

Victoria: Anything new?

Cole: Nothing. And I’m trying not to flip out. Hi, nikki.

Nikki: Hey, cole.

Cole: How are you holding up?

Victoria: Well, do you wanna tell him or should I?

Nikki: I don’t care.

Victoria: Mom thinks it’s a great idea to put herself out there as a target for jordan to lure her out of hiding.

Cole: What? Nikki, that’s not happening.

Victoria: Exactly. That was my reaction, too, but she won’t be swayed. So, I insisted that you and me and nicholas, possibly, need to be a part of whatever it is she’s planning.

Nikki: No, nicholas. End of story. Now, we don’t have time to waste arguing about this.

Cole: Nikki, this is too dangerous. With nick or without.

Nikki: I am aware of the risks, but this could be the only way we get claire and harrison home safely.

Cole: Are– are– are you backing up your mother on this?

Victoria: There is a terrible logic behind it. Jordan’s hatred is mostly directed at my mother. She’s jordan’s weak spot.

Cole: Does victor know all about this?

Nikki: No, and he’s not going to know, because nobody’s gonna tell him, including you.

Cole: Nikki, you have a plan, victor and jack have a plan, and no one is telling the police what they’re up to.

Nikki: I don’t care what anybody else’s plan is. This is what I’m doing.

Cole: Listen, I get it, all right, I know exactly how you feel. I would lay my life on the line to bring claire home, but why not involve the police? Victor, jack, I mean, these– these are the ones with the tools and the experience. This is impulsive and it’s short-sighted and it might trigger jordan into doing something terrible.

Victor: I agree with jack. And I agree with kyle’s suspicion. I do think that claire’s being held hostage by that terrible woman.

Jack: Whoa, I’m not prepared to jump to any conclusions here. I think we have to consider every possibility. What makes you so certain that claire is innocent?

Victor: Because I’ve been around claire for a while, and whenever the name of her aunt has been brought up, her hatred of the woman is absolutely palpable.

Summer: Or that’s just a part of her con. We know how convincing she can be.

Victor: Sweetheart, you’ve got to let go of that anger, okay? Jack is right. Right now, we have to do everything in our power to find those two.

Chance: So, what exactly is the plan here?

Victor: What exactly is the plan? We interrogate the driver, see what he knows.

Chance: Well, hold on. I just– I just said the police already did a preliminary interview.

Victor: They didn’t find diddly, did they?

Chance: Well, maybe there was nothing to tell.

Victor: That remains to be seen.

Chance: Victor, any evidence that you find going rogue, you know you can’t use that in a court case, right?

Victor: Chance, I don’t give a damn about a court case.

Chance: Okay, so what’s your plan here? You’re just gonna wing it?

Victor: We’ll do what we have to.

Chance: Victor, families operate on emotion. That’s when mistakes are made. It usually ends up badly, sometimes even tragically. I would let the police do their job.

Victor: When I ask you for advice, you will know. Right now, I’ll do everything in my power to find my granddaughter and my great-grandson. And you stay the hell out of it.

Marshalls buyers have a very

particular set of skills.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Billy: Cutting me off at the knees at chancellor-winters, that’s a bold move.

Lily: It’s just defining your purview.

Billy: It’s tying my hands.

Lily: Look, it’s a conversation we should’ve had when jill first brought you on, okay?

Billy: No, true, but that’s why she brought me on so you didn’t have to think about work, so you could focus on taking care of your daughter. I never tried to replace you. I would never try to crowd you out.

Lily: Yes, I believe you, but not everyone sees it that way, and it’s distraction. So, if we define your role at the company, then we can actually focus on making the company better. Because the stronger the company is, the stronger I am.

Billy: Self-preservation brings out your eyes. We’re good together. You know it.

Lily: Are we good enough for me to give you half my power? I don’t know about that.

Billy: I’m not saying I’m perfect. I shoot from the hip maybe a little bit too much, but that’s something I can work on. But we’re good together. That’s why jill brought us together in the first place. You don’t think she has the same thing in mind this time?

Lily: Did jill actually say the words, “I think you and lily should run chancellor-winters together?”

Billy: With the environment at chancellor-winters? She’s smarter than that.

Lily: Okay, then we’ll bring it up at the board meeting.

Billy: Okay, you want to do this with everyone, not just me and you hashing it out one-on-one.

Lily: Yeah, everything out in the open is the best option.

Billy: So you have your back covered. Lily, I would never betray you.

Lily: Oh, my god. Yeah, famous last words.

Billy: Okay, so clearly, I’m the enemy here, which I’m not, but let’s just say I am. You think your family’s gonna protect you? Mamie’s only out for herself and taking down jill. Devon, I’m not the only one he has a problem working with, okay, ’cause he only thinks about himself, and what he wants to do. He doesn’t give anyone else room and that’s gonna be you next time. When your power gets too much, he’s gonna freak out.

Lily: That wouldn’t happen, but if it did, we’d figure it out.

Billy: I’m the smart bet. I’m the one you should trust. I don’t know why the hell you don’t see that.

Nikki: Victor will not be a part of this call. It’s not up for debate.

Cole: Victor wants to get jordan as badly as you do, so why not let him help?

Nikki: Because then he will want to put me on the sidelines and think I am in too fragile of a state to face jordan again.

Cole: Is he wrong about that?

Nikki: What are you saying?

Cole: You’ve been through a lot, nikki.

Nikki: Yeah, I have, and I am in the best position to know what I can and cannot handle. Thank you.

Victoria: She also believes this is all her fault.

Cole: That’s just not true, all right? You’re not responsible for jordan’s actions.

Victoria: That’s what I said, too.

Nikki: And your continuing to say it does not reduce my guilt or my determination to fix this once and for all. Now, once I make contact with jordan, I will tell your father. And then, he can involve as many security and police officers as he wants.

Cole: All right, listen, listen, by then, it might be too late.

Nikki: You know what? This is what we’re doing! Get it? Now, if my risking my life is the only way to save harrison and claire, I’m willing to take that risk. All right. I’ve met your conditions. So, give me claire’s phone number right now!

Chance: Have you considered that you could be jeopardizing their safety by not working with the police?

Victor: I consider everything.

Summer: Grandpa, chance knows about these things. He has experience.

Victor: The fact that your friend worked for the gcpd doesn’t mean a damn thing to me. Now, you either jump on board, get with it, or you can leave the premises.

Chance: That’s how it’s gonna be, yeah?

Jack: I’m with victor on this one.

Kyle: So am I.

Victor: You find the truck driver, bring him to the ranch. You tell him if he cooperates, he’ll be compensated.

[ Summer sighs ]

Lily: Hello, abby.

Abby: Hi.

Lily: Nice to see you.

Abby: Well, it’s wonderful to be here. I’m happy to contribute however I can. I know how much chancellor-winters means to everyone involved.

Lily: Thank you, I know you do. Um, are we all set for the meeting?

Devon: Yes, jill let us know last minute she’s gonna be joining, uh, via video chat, and then I also asked nate if he would stop by.

Nate: Hey.

Devon: Hey. Thank you for coming.

Nate: Uh, if this is about daniel’s lawsuit, that’s not exactly my turf.

Jill: You are correct. It is a board issue.

Billy: Glad you could join us, mom.

Jill: What’s going on there? Why is nate with you?

Devon: I asked him to come, uh, because before we start the discussion about the daniel situation, I wanted to motion for nate to be reappointed to the board. I would’ve called yesterday.

Lily: Devon, I wish you had talked to me about this first.

Devon: Well, that’s why i brought it up, so we can all discuss it before we take a vote, and I’m sure you’re willing to answer any questions we might have.

Nate: Of course. I’d be happy to.

Lily: So, sorry, did abby know about this?

Abby: Devon and I talked about it earlier.

Lily: Nate?

Nate: Uh, first, I’m hearing about it, but I am humbled and grateful you have such faith in me. I give you my word, I will do my best by the company if elected.

Billy: So, you two were the only ones who knew about this, hm. That’s interesting.

Jill: All right, devon, tell me, how long has that bombshell been percolating in that little brain of yours?

Devon: Well, this actually goes back to what neil wanted, jill, because he put it in his will that nate must be given a seat on the board of hamilton-winters, and I believe that he’s earned that spot.

Billy: But it would have been nice to get a heads up. Seems a little bit shady that you would spring this on us all, especially lily, but then again, that’s probably your idea all along. But hey, we’re here now. So, let’s have a vote.

[ Chance sighs ]

Summer: Chance, wait. Uh, look, I’m sorry about my grandpa.

Chance: No, no, that is exactly what I expected, and you know what I should’ve done? I should’ve reminded your grandpa of all the times he’s gone off without the police and it’s blown up in his face.

Summer: Look, you’ve got to admit, he’s been able to achieve some things that the police haven’t been able to.

Chance: Yeah, illegal things. Dangerous things. Some are things that have put his life in danger. I tell you, this is just one reason why I left law enforcement. People like victor newman think that they can do whatever the hell they want.

Summer: You have to understand, though, that is how he became who he is. He sees a problem, he finds a solution and he doesn’t let anybody get in his way.

Chance: That sounds like you agree with him.

Summer: I’m not saying that. I’m not. Does my grandpa take it too far sometimes? Yes, maybe, but in this circumstance, right now, you have to admit, the police are the ones that keep on losing jordan, and meanwhile, my son is the one that’s out there enduring god knows what. I just want to bring him home. I really don’t care how it happens.

Nikki: Give me the damn phone, victoria! We’re wasting time!

Victoria: Are you all right?

Nikki: What? What are you talking about?

Victoria: You seem really agitated. I mean, you’re almost shaking.

Nikki: Of course I am agitated! Anybody would be agitated having to deal with jordan.

Victoria: I know that–

Nikki: My god, that woman has harrison under her control. She’s got to be stopped. We don’t have a moment to waste.

Victoria: Mom?

Nikki: Why are you making this so difficult for me? I am offering you the best way to get harrison and claire home, and you are fighting me at every turn.

Victoria: Mom, stop!

Nikki: Why are you doing that?

Victoria: Have you been drinking again?

Kyle: Hey. Have a seat.

Driver: Why am I here? I– I already told my story to the cops.

Jack: Now we’d like you to tell it to us. From the beginning. How your truck was stolen.

Driver: The guy said something about compensation?

Jack: Oh, you will be well-rewarded if you help us. Are you aware that your truck was used in the abduction of a seven-year-old boy?

Driver: All they asked me was how my truck ended up empty and abandoned on astor road. And I told them. It was stolen when I was getting snacks for my shift. Security footage backed up my claim and they let me go.

Kyle: So that’s all you know?

Driver: Yeah, that’s all. Why would I lie?

Jack: We never said you lied. We asked if that was everything.

Driver: I told you guys everything that happened.

Jack: To me, you seem like an honest guy. To that man, that is victor newman. And if he thinks you know more than you’re saying, he will turn your life into a living hell. I have seen it happen before. I would hate to see it happen to you. So, when we ask for answers…

Victor: You better answer. Uhhh.

Abby: We don’t have to vote right now. I mean, devon mentioned nate answering any questions we may have.

Billy: I actually have a question, but it’s for devon. This little dance to put nate back on the board, is it payback? Because jill agreed to put abby on the board as long as I got a seat too?

Devon: No, I think I was pretty clear when I explained this is about what neil wanted. And I also believe that nate has earned back this responsibility.

Billy: Right, so nate’s earned it, but mine’s a freebie.

Devon: Those are your words. So, if there are no other questions, we can move on to the voting, and that’s one vote for me to have nate on the board.

Abby: I second that.

Billy: Surprise, surprise.

Devon: Lily? I think with the recent dynamics in the company, this makes a lot of sense for us.

Billy: It does make a lot of sense, stacking the board to vote in line with you. It’s interesting, lily, because we were just talking about undefined purviews, and I’m sitting here wondering, what does this board really do? I mean, what’s the point of voting when you already know the outcome?

Devon: Are you done? Can we move on?

Jill: So, does this mean we get to vote now?

Devon: I would love that.

Billy: Nate, this is not personal at all. You’ve done some really great work since you’ve come back.

Nate: Thank you.

Billy: But for me, it’s a little too soon. The memories of what happened last time are too fresh.

Jill: Yeah, from when you brazenly sold us out.

Nate: I am aware.

Jill: Which is why I think this is premature. I vote no.

Billy: I agree.

Devon: All right. Two yeses, two nos.

Lily: Well… I guess it’s up to me then.

Chance: Hey, hey, hey. Look at me. Look at me. I understand you’re scared right now, but I honestly think that the best and the safest way to bring harrison home is to let the police do it. If it were dominic, that’s what I’d do.

Summer: But it’s not dominic. So, you don’t know what you would do, not really.

Chance: Yeah, I– I guess, you’re right, I’m sorry.

Summer: Look, I don’t know what the right plan is, I don’T. I just want my son to come home safely.

Chance: I know, and you know I’m gonna do whatever I have to do to make that happen, right?

Summer: Yeah.

Chance: So have faith. We might not all be pulling in the same direction, but we all want the same thing. Now, I’m gonna go check in with the lead detective, see if I can find out anything new.

Summer: Okay.

Chance: Okay. It’s gonna be okay.

Summer: Call me.

Chance: I will.

Summer: Okay.

Nikki: No, I haven’t been drinking.

Victoria: The behavior, it just seemed familiar to me, that’s all.

Nikki: Oh, is that how it’s going to be now? Whenever we have a disagreement, I get accused of being drunk?

Victoria: I’m not accusing you. I’m asking you, out of concern. I’m asking out of love.

Nikki: I’m sorry. It’s a sensitive subject.

Victoria: I know.

Nikki: But I do appreciate your caring, I really do. But I promise you… I haven’t been drinking again.

Jack: As to your question about compensation…

Victor: What is your name?

Dave: Dave.

Victor: All right, dave. I’ll offer you $100,000 for inside information.

Dave: You don’t think I was involved, do you?

Kyle: Yes, we do. We know the woman paid you to ditch your truck.

Jack: The woman you’ve been doing business with is a murderer, capable of almost anything. You are very lucky you got out alive.

Victor: So, dave, this is your chance to fix your mistake. To save a child’s life. So, why don’t you tell us everything you know?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

okay. If we have to do this, we’re not gonna do it in the middle of my restaurant. Hatyou’re talking about. You’re gonna have to tell me more, sonny. I don’t get it. Okay. You spent months refusing any help. And you promised — no, you didn’t promise. Y-you insisted that you were gonna get the hotel back on your own. I wanted to help you. You said no. Jason comes in, gets it back, gives it to you, and you’re like, “thank you, jason.” Yeah. Well… that’s pretty much it. I’m sorry. You don’t have to be sorry. Are you mad I’m here? Never. So, uh, have you seen much of my dad since dante’s been home? Just a couple of times. Alone or…? Uh, once with ava and avery. And how did he seem? What do you mean? You know, like, how was he? Considering everything sonny’s been going through, I would say he’s pretty angry. And paranoid? No, I wouldn’t go that far. Maybe a little on edge. Why do you think? I don’t know. He’s not acting like himself lately. He’s pushing everyone away. Oh, you mean carly and michael. And nina. Look, I’m not okay with what nina did. But she does really love my dad, and he was happy with her. And now, apart from me, donna and avery and you guys, occasionally, the only person he’ll let close to him is ava. Can you believe we’ve got this whole place to ourselves?! Oh, brook lynn is gonna freak out when she sees it! All the decorations, her name in lights, and, oh, she’s got her very own signature cocktail. “The brooklyn chaser.” I mean, it doesn’t get any cutter than that! Mm-hmm. Hey! Anybody there? Sorry.

[ Chuckles ] You live for this stuff! I did. I mean, I-I do.

[ Sighs ] I’m sorry. It’s just all the stress at work lately. It’s been a lot. Do you want to talk about it? No. Okay. Lucy has been insufferable!

[ Chuckles ] Well. Gotcha. Trying to make herself deception’s spokesmodel? I mean you saw her at “home & heart.” Did I ever! All she can do is talk about herself. And because her followers are blowing up her social media, she is convinced she was this huge success. I don’t have the final numbers, but I’m pretty sure she was not. There’s just no reasoning with her. And now that sasha’s gone and brook lynn is understandably — you are left to deal with lucy all on your own. Yeah. Hmm. And we have this new skin care line coming out. The disruptor nourishing moisturizer was debuted on “home & heart.” Mm hmm. Lucy’s been holding up the release date because she would like to rename the product to lucy’s luminous skin serum.

[ Laughs ] Hard pass. Right? Yeah. Marketing is just about to lose their minds, and I’m right there with them. Well… why don’t you just call it deceptive? Deceptive? Yeah. The skin care that hides what you want, and no one’s got a clue. Madison! I need you to call my lawyer and see if there’s any way to void a contract that I signed under false pretenses. Oh. Right away. Actually… no. Don’T. O-of course. I-is there something i should do? Do you want some advice? Please. When people tell you who they are, believe them. Say someone who’s treacherous with an agenda and suddenly becomes your friend, guess what. They still have an agenda. Maybe it gels with yours for the moment, but as soon as it doesn’T… said friend… …will betray you in a heartbeat. Nina. Are you okay? You can go. You have a minute? For a “friend” like you? Always.

(Grunt) you’re always welcome here. Thanks. So, I-I didn’t see you downstairs. How’d you get in? -Uh, the — the fire escape. -Oh. It — it looked like you and carly were busy, so… and I don’t want anyone to know I’m here. Look, my mom said I couldn’t see you anymore, and this has to be a secret. Just like the boathouse. I’m really grateful you helped me. It was no big deal. Yeah, it was a big deal. And what I did, getting you involved, especially asking you to keep it from your mom, that wasn’t fair. But at the time, I didn’t see an alternative, but it shouldn’t have gone down like that. So… are you saying you’re sorry I found you? I’m sensing that you don’t like that ava’s living with sonny. I just don’t understand why. Well, what did sonny have to say about it? Not much. Just that ava and avery were moving in because of a “safety concern.” But I don’t know. I mean, if — if my dad were really at risk, then wouldn’t he want avery to be as far away from him as possible? Hm. I remember plenty of times as a young kid I would go long periods of time without seeing my dad, and it was always “for my own safety.” I-I don’t know. Maybe — maybe it is for “security reasons.” I mean, sonny’s is the best. I guess. Honestly, I was fine with ava and avery moving in there initially. I even asked ava to keep an eye on my dad because I was so worried about him after spencer died. But you’re clearly not okay with it now. Ava jerome? Living there permanently? That’s a different story. Uh, yeah, I know it is an interesting development. I-I just — I feel like he’s starting to rely on her. Like, he really needs her in his life. And ava — she played such a major role in morgan’s death. She tampered with his medication, and that basically forced him into a manic spiral. So how is she not responsible that he did something reckless and died? And I understand the concept of keeping ava close for avery’s sake, tolerating ava. You know, go along to get along. But I don’t know. Sam, it’s like every once in a while, I’m around ava, and I just am hit with this full-sensory memory of me at morgan’s funeral, you know, the dress I’m wearing, the way the flowers smelled. It’s like this mental snapshot that I-I cannot get rid of. And my dad is the one who uncovered that. So how does he go from loathing someone to totally trusting her? I offered to buy back the hotel for you. I remember. And you refused. I remember that, too. Well, what the hell, carly? Why would you take it from jason and not me? Because you made the offer out of guilt, sonny. That’s not true. Yes, it is. It’s true. You wanted to make yourself feel better for bailing on our marriage. Me? Like it was some kind of consolation prize or something. I didn’t bail on the marriage. You’re the one that ended things.

[ Scoffs ] I hit pause for about five minutes, and you took that opportunity to jump in bed with nina. You’re rewriting history, carly. Really? Yeah. Yeah. You are. What part is the lie? All parts. You wanted nina, and you got her. Look at you now. Madison. Please make sure that we’re not disturbed. Have a seat.

[ Door closes ] Nina, I am so sorry. For what? I had no idea that sonny would react that way to you selling jason the hotel. I mean, I-I knew he was under a lot of stress. Sonny was? Yeah. But that was over the top. Even for him. Rest assured I’m gonna do whatever I can to smooth things over. I just — I hope you understand. Oh, I understand. How transparent and manipulative you are. I’m so embarrassed. Why? That I ever believed one word that came out of your mouth. I of all people should know better. With our history… all the ways I admittedly have wronged you, the ways that you’ve wronged me. How could I have ever trusted you? That’s just not being naive. That’s — that’s borderline deluded. How long? How long what? How long have you been working your agenda, ava? Does it go all the way back to when you told me to turn in carly and drew to the sec? Nina, I never told you to do any such thing! How long… have you been playing me for a fool?

Ll, you might have justsaved the future of deception, but you’ve definitely saved me a huge headache. My pleasure. Okay. So there are four products in this new line — the deceiver serum, defiance dual use toner, defender deep cleanser, and disruptor nourishing moisturizer. I am excited to try every one of them. Consider me a focus group of one. Have you used our products? Oh, yeah. I was a big fan of deception back in the day. My best friend was the “face” in the ’90s, but, you know, that version of the company folded. Have you used any of the products recently? Um, I think the deceptor is a home run. Yay! Yeah. Yeah. I use it while doing my sudoku. As good a time as any, I suppose. Why not, right?

[ Both laugh ] Sorry I’m late! Maxie: Oh. Oh. I see you drafted some backup. Yes, joss was nice enough to not only help me put together the favor bags, but lug the boxes over here. Ohh! Thank you, josslyn. You’re a lifesaver! Oh, my gosh, guys. Of course. Whatever you need help with. I’m — I’m happy to help. Careful. Because we will take you up on that.

[ Laughter ] Alright, ladies. Josslyn: Hoo hoo! It’s show time.

[ Laughter ] I’m sorry I put you in that position. But I would never be sorry to have that time with you. I really like talking. Me too. Turns out, I’m actually pretty good at getting places and staying under the radar. I was even at your arraignment. Did your mom know? She was busy at the hospital with dante. Danny — the only person that saw me was elizabeth, and she was cool about it. Okay. You can’t keep doing stuff behind your mom’s back. But she doesn’t want me to see you. And I won’t let her keep me away from my own father. It’s not fair! After what happened with nina, I would rather wait tables for the rest of my life than take anything from you. But you got no problem taking it from jason. None. Because jason’s offer was genuine. You? You were just trying to buy me off! That’s not true, carly. Why would you say that? Jason gave me back my hotel because he believes in me, he supports me, and he will always have my back! And we all know you got his! Of course, I do! That’s not news, sonny! I will always be there for jason, and he will always be there for me, and I refuse to apologize for that. Ah. I can see that, carly. Do you? Do you see, sonny? Because you accuse me of rewriting history, but you’re the one who seems to have lost your grasp on things. I mean, this is jason we’re talking about! I know who we’re talking about! He’s the one who tried to kill me! Nina, you made the decision to turn carly and drew in all on your own. That’s true. You never came out and said, “turn ’em in.” You would never be that obvious, ava. No, t-they were more like suggestions and insinuations. I mean, metaphorical lay-ups so I could slam dunk. And, boy, did I ever. I told you all along, it was a mistake. You made the call. No me. Now you can sit back, play innocent, and watch your hard work pay off. Why would I do that? Yeah, that’s the question of the day, isn’t it? And I can only come up with one answer. Well, I’m all ears. Well, you encouraging me to turn carly and drew in to the sec, and then you saying that you’d work on sonny for me, help get us back together… but actually not do any of that. Then you were all-in for me selling half of the metro court to jason, but, oops, jason’s no longer sonny’s best friend, but his sworn enemy. All under the guise of having my back… …being my best friend. So you could have sonny for yourself.

It really is so sweet of you to help out! Oh, of course. After the day I’ve had, doing something fun is great instead of, you know — the opposite of fun. Yeah. Exactly. Well, I’m really sorry you had a crapola day. Oh. Thank you. You know what could turn that around, don’t you? A bachelorette party? Bingo! You get to eat, drink, and be all sorts of merry and dance the blues away. Oh. It sounds amazing. I appreciate the invite. I really do. But I have plans tonight. They can’t be any better than this. I know, but I’m having dinner with my friend trina and her aunt sella. Perfect. Have dinner and then afterwards bring them back here. I mean, come on. The more the merrier. Lois is living her best life, isn’t she? I have definitely met my match in the party-planning department. I’m guessing you each bring your own individual styles to said planning. Um, how could you tell?

[ Laughs ] Anybody looking for this? I found it by the entrance. Oh. Those must be the party hats that lois ordered. Yeah, I’ll take them.

[ Laughs ] Great. Lois! Delivery! Oh, I thought they wouldn’t get here in time! Oh! Yes! Drew: Hey. Hi. Have you seen curtis by any chance? I want to run something by him. Oh. No. He’s giving the club a wide berth since we are taking it over for brook lynn’s bridal shower/ bachelorette party. Ohh. So he’s afraid of the girls. Precisely. Maybe I should be, too. I’ll get out of your hair. You guys have fun tonight. You know, actually, uh, since you’re — since you’re here, could I get your advice on something? Always, as long as it’s unrelated to the bachelorette festivities. It’s about amelia. Well, then it

better be unrelated. Michael and I want her to learn how to swim. That’s great! Really? Because I am terrified. Who sonny chooses to be a part of his life, it’s his decision. And if that’s ava, it’s ava. I don’t — s-she’s not a good influence on him, sam. I-I don’t disagree. And I think my dad is really hurting over nina so much more than he wants to admit. And then jason’s mysterious return. I feel like he’s in a vulnerable position right now. Okay. And — and maybe he is. But like I said, it’s your father’s choice who he wants to have in his life. Repeat after me. It’s not your choice. It’s not your choice.

[ Chuckles ] It’s not my choice.

[ Knock on door ]

[ Sam sighs ] Jason did not try and kill you. He was with the sniper on the roof who did. The sniper who missed. Yes. Because of jason!

[ Groans ] And, yet again, jason stepped up to save your life. I mean, hell, you wouldn’t be standing here right now if it weren’t for jason. Okay. Carly, carly. Listen to me. Okay? This is serious right now. Jason is working with the feds, right? That’s a scary thing. He said it himself. That’s proof! Proof of what? P– that he’s working against me! Maybe he made a deal with the feds to save his own skin! Okay. You think, um, you’re a part of jason’s deal. And you don’t? Well, I think if jason’s job is to get evidence against you, then he’s really bad at it because here you are a free man! Okay. Look. I’ve been — I’ve been, uh — I’ve had a target on my back for over a year. Jason’s been M.I.A. Through it all. Why couldn’t he pick up a phone?! Why couldn’t he pick up a phone and just say, “hey. I’m alive. I can’t tell you anything, but I’m alive.” Sonny. If he could have, he would have. He betrayed me. Jason betrayed me. And you betrayed me. It’s so obvious now that I look back on it. Obvious to you , maybe. You kept sonny away from me, so you could move on in. Nina, sonny moved me in. For my safety and the safety of my daughter. And that was before the two of you even separated. Oh, I stand corrected. Yes. You did get a foot in the door before I was even evicted.

[ Sighs ] What about now, ava? Hm? Why you still there now? For avery. And you? Yeah. For me too. Because, “selfishly,” I’d like to be on good terms with my child’s father. Maybe at first. But you’ve grown to like being in sonny’s orbit… drawn into his circle of trust. Feels good doesn’t it? Makes you feel seen. Lovely. Like you’re the only two people in the whole world. Am I getting close? This is absurd. Mm. The only thing that I’m curious about now is, how do you think sonny’s gonna react if he finds out that not only were you the mastermind behind me narcing on carly and drew… come on, nina! Would you stop saying that?! …You knew the truth the whole time, and you kept quiet. How do you think sonny’s gonna react to that? I’m guessing… …not well.

Trust me. You’re gonna be doing her and yourself a huge favor by getting her comfortable in the water as early as possible. You did that with scout? Yeah. And look at her now. She’s like a little fish. Okay. That makes me feel better. Okay. You’re not gonna regret it. Well, when you say it, I believe it. If it’ll make you fe el betterto blame me, then go ahead… and tell sonny your little story about how I convinced you to turn in carly and drew. Maybe I will. Then you can tell him how I thought it was a fabulous idea for you to sell the metro court to jason. Does not matter. He will not believe you. Why is that? Because sonny considers you a traitor, and he knows that you will say absolutely anything to get him back. That’s how desperate you are. No, not desperate. Hopeful. Because you told me to be. Do you hear yourself? I told you. I convinced you. How about thinking for yourself once in a while, nina? Then maybe sonny would have just a little respect for you. Oh, and he has respect for you? Not only does he respect me… he counts on me. Poor sonny. Face it, nina. I know and understand sonny in a way you never could. Since when are you so quick to think the worst of me? Your family? Not all my family. Just the ones that — who “betrayed” you. Yeah, yeah, I know. You’re like a broken record. And you’re cherry-picking history to make it line up with your version of events. What pieces am I ignoring, carly? The one where michael

didn’t turn you in, where he gave me the evidence instead, and I destroyed it to protect you. What about

those pieces? If it weren’t for me and michael, you’d be in jail right now, sonny! If it wasn’t for michael and you, dex would never have been planted in my organization to spy on me and that evidence wouldn’t have existed. Okay. Michael made a bad choice. But he turned it around. And dex was put in your organization then to protect you and to watch your back, and that’s exactly what he did. Hell, he saved your life multiple times! Doesn’t that count for anything? Not to me. So you went to see your father when I explicitly told you not to. Danny! We — we should talk. We’ll talk later. Danny is my first priority. Yeah, he’s mine, too. I said we’ll talk later. Just listen to what he has to say, mom. Please. Hey. I have an idea. Danny, why don’t you come with me to get a cup of coffee and — I want to stay. Come on, dude. We haven’t spent time together in a really long time. And I am all up in my feels as a pregnant woman. I would hate for you to make your aunt cry. Really, aunt kristina? Really.

[ Sighs ] Fine. Thank you. Yeah, of course. Just text me an “all clear” when I can bring him back. Okay. Alright, bud. Let’s go. Bye, dad. I’ll see ya.

[ Door closes ] How could you do this to our son?

You don’t understand sonny. You never have. -Really? -Really. He is a powerful… turbulent… and, yes, violent man. Meanwhile, you want to sit by the fire and grow old with him, dandling grandkids on your knees. And what’s wrong with that? Nothing, I guess. But if that’s the kind of life you want, perhaps don’t choose a notorious mob boss to live it with. Sonny chose me, ava. He loves me. And I do understand him. You want to know why? Because sonny showed me a side to him he never shows anyone. Yeah. Mike? From nixon falls?

[ Scoffs ] Come on, nina. Mike was never real. You have to face it. You saw what you wanted to see. That’s not true. And in your defense, you know, he — he encouraged you. He kept the darkest parts of himself hidden as best he could, so your — your fantasy could live on. And that’s exactly what it was. A fantasy. You couldn’t really know sonny because you didn’t want to. Not the real man anyway. And you know him? We are similar creatures, sonny and me. What’s your end game, ava? What does that mean? You living there, raising avery under the same roof. I know you. What do you get out of this? You knew the risk of keeping dex in my organization, just like you knew what was gonna happen when I found out the truth. There are no surprises here, carly. Everything you do surprises me lately, sonny.,, From writing your son off… almost killing dex… your attitude towards chase. Add it to the list, huh? I barely recognize you anymore. Right back at you, carly. Is this really how it ends for us, sonny? After all these years? Everything we’ve been through? This is it? This is it. You sure you don’t want a ninth spoonful? That might really do the trick. I hate the taste of coffee. Then why are you drinking it? Everyone at school does. I don’t know. Wow. Well, that — that’s great. I’m gonna just be here with my sad, decaffeinated herbal tea living vicariously through you, while you sip what I consider to be the nectar of the gods, and you don’t even enjoy it. Sorry. Don’t be. I’m only teasing. So, uh… do you want to talk about anything? We don’t have to. All I wanted to do was see my dad and hang out for just a minute. Why can’t my mom understand that? How has it been having him back? Good. Yeah? It hasn’t been weird or anything since he’s been gone for so long? It’s been easy. He — he treats me like a person. You know? He doesn’t get all parental. Like your mom does. Well, she is your mom, danny, and by definition, she just wants to protect you. From my own father? Maybe, yeah. She doesn’t let me do anything. She — it’s like I’m a — it’s like I’m a prisoner. Okay. I wouldn’t go that far. When is my mom gonna realize that I’m not a little kid anymore? Have you maybe thought of this from her side? Jason is your father, and, of course, you want a relationship with him. That makes sense. But it also makes sense that your mom just wants to protect you and keep you safe. And it’s — it’s hard, it’s confusing, and it’s — it’s not that cut-and-dry. Mom’s not afraid that I’m gonna get hurt. She doesn’t want me hanging out with him ’cause she’s afraid I’m just like him. Like him how? Going fast, taking chances. It’s — it’s hard to explain, but dad… he understands. I’m danny’s father. Nothing’s gonna change that. So we just have to try to figure out a way to handle this. I thought I had handled it when I told you to stay away from our son. Okay. That’s — that’s not working, sam. He’s gonna come look for me. He already did. Then tell him to leave! That’s — you think that’s gonna stop danny? Where you go, danger follows. Danny is too young to understand the risks or to control his — his impulses, so we will have to control that for him. You mean control him. If we have to. Yes.

[ Sighs ] Danny is just like you, jason. Except he doesn’t have the maturity or the experience to guide him. What is he finds himself in a dangerous situation and he’s not able to get out of it?

It’s not that I want to worry my mom or lie to her. Of course not. She wishes I was just like rocco. You think so? Steady, safe. He never gives mom or dante a reason to freak out. And I’m not like that, and I won’t pretend that I am. Your mom loves you for who you are, danny. I can guarantee you she doesn’t want you to pretend. But with jason back, it — it is confusing. And your mom, like the rest of us, is just trying to figure it out. I get that. Of course you do. You’re a smart and pathetic young man. Very questionable taste buds. Don’t like coffee? But I’m willing to overlook that. So what am i supposed to do? About jason? I’m sorry my mom’s confused or whatever else, but i won’t give up on my dad. It’s not only about the physical danger. Okay. Then what else? What happens the next time you disappear? And don’t say that it’s not gonna happen again, because it already did. You were here with danny, and then you were gone. Look. I-I wish I could make promises, but you know I can’T. So how do I let him invest in you? How do I let him see a future with you when you might not even be around for it? Okay. Look. I’ll set boundaries with danny. Okay? I’ll make sure that he never comes to the warehouse. Ever! Okay. And — and I promise that I’m gonna be honest with you. If you call and ask if he’s there, I’m gonna tell the truth and I’m gonna encourage danny to do the same thing. Okay. Because lying to me is not okay. I agree. But I don’t believe cutting danny off from me helps or protects our son. I guess this part of the conversation’s over. I am sorry that this is hard. I’m sorry about a lot of things.

[ Door opens ] You gonna make that call? Yes, I will. Okay.

[ Chuckles ] Hey, um, willow? Yeah. I’ve been spending more time with nina lately, you know, because of, um, crimson. Okay. And she’s been talking about you a lot. You and the kids. I thought maybe you’d like to know. What I “get” is a strong relationship with the father of my only living child. What I “get” is a partnership with sonny. So instead of being grudgingly tolerated for avery’s sake, sonny and I have formed an alliance. How nice. It is nice. We help each other. We lean on each other. And it comes naturally because we have a shorthand. Because of your mob days. We both understand how the world works. And he doesn’t have to explain things to me. Like he did with poor, naive me. He doesn’t have to hide things from me, either. In simplest terms, sonny and I are compatible in ways that the two of you never were and never could be. Well, have at it, ava. Sonny’s all yours. I try to protect you… then you call me a traitor. Fine. You know, we’ll… go our own ways. I’ll focus on my life. You can focus on yours. Sounds good. You know, carly… out of all the people that I thought would abandon me… …never thought you would.

Oh, I’ll never forget the day you stood at my doorstep you put your hand on my face you told me, “girl, you look great” for this love, there was no regret just a ticking clock I knew that time would run out for us that’s okay, your love was true oh, a different time oh, a different place maybe we would… I know that time would run out for us true…

Madison, find an appropriate box for these and have them messengered to mr. Corinthos’ address at the harbor view towers. That’s all.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Oh, I swear, Kayla, only you can make a hazmat suit look chic. You are lucky to be alive, Paulina. Why, my number’s that bad? Well, you know, actually, physically, you checked out fine. And your numbers, although lower, are still too high for me to send you home. I mean, what were you thinking, sneaking out of here and driving up to Smith Island?

Look, look, I’m, I’m very sorry that I worried everyone. Well, luckily, I mean, although we did know that you had left the hospital, we didn’t know that you had commandeered a snow plow or driving on snowy roads in the middle of the night. Not to mention, You exposed Johnny and Chanel and Julie to radiation, and obviously that’s a big deal.

There’s gonna be an investigation, reports gonna be written. I know all that, Kayla. I know all that. I’m sorry I put people’s lives at risk, but don’t you understand? I felt I had no choice. Could you sit still and do nothing if your daughter was missing? I had to rescue my baby girl. Nothing, nothing was more important than that.

Well, I guess we can check being dagger countered off the bucket list. Dagger countered? I’m not sure if that’s a word. Yeah, I’m not so sure it’s a bucket list item either. Yeah, that was stupid. Definitely an experience. Slightly harrowing, right? More than slightly. I kept thinking that thing was gonna start howling like a fire alarm when they were checking me.

Yeah. Yeah, me too. Honey, I am so sorry that you had to go through all this because of me. Hey. Because of you, no. No, no way. Yes, it is. Because of me. Because if I hadn’t gone out into that snowstorm and Looking for me. Yeah. By the way. Okay, but still, if I had just trusted that you would come back like you said you would, and I would have just waited there, then I wouldn’t have got stuck between those stupid rocks, and Mama wouldn’t have risked so much.

Hey, you know, all that matters, okay? Hey. Is that she found you. Even if it means I didn’t get to be your hero. Okay. Yeah, you are my hero. Okay. You are strong and loyal and honest. And everything else that makes up a hero. Yeah, I don’t know about that. Yeah, well, I do. And on top of that, you make me happier than I’ve ever been.

Yeah? Oh, yeah. And I mean, what is more heroic than that?

Yeah, that’s right. The cabin has been vacated, and out of an abundance of caution, we’ve got Chanel, Julie, and Johnny being checked out at the hospital. I’m sure Johnny will call you soon. Love you too, Sammy. Give Sydney a kiss for me. Okay, bye. Oh, you are back from the monastery. Yeah. Well, I bet you never thought you’d be saying those words to me.

I did not. I was Lucas. Well, given the fact that he is required to live a life of chastity, poverty, and obedience, I mean, he’s hanging in. Temporary. He’ll be out of there soon. Yeah, I hope so. But no one knows. I mean, no one really knows anything. You know, Clyde has escaped, so does that mean that Lucas is no longer safe in the monastery?

I mean, does he have to go back to Statesville? There are so many questions. Just a whole lot of silence. Yeah, no, I get it. I get it. Lucas is in limbo right now, as you are. It’s not a great place to be. No, no, and it’s driving me insane. So, uh, is Harris upstairs? Because he has things that he needs to tell me.

You know, he will not answer any of my phone calls. Uh, he slept for work. Just a little while ago. Okay. I’m gonna go down to the police station. I’m gonna find him. Okay, well Good luck, Katie. Yeah, I’m gonna need it. Okay.

Closed for renovations. Come on. Everybody knows that the place is shut down because Stefan got arrested. Among other things. You regretting being dragged into this yet? No, I’m fine. There’s no way in hell I’m gonna let you do this alone. I’ll be out here standing watch in case you need me. Damn. You know, if Clyde hadn’t ordered me to go find his little black book with his narco contacts in it, it’s the last place I would be.

I know, but it couldn’t be the break that we’re waiting for. If we find Clyde, we put him away for good. Let’s just get this done, okay? Good thing you got on one of these, huh?

Well,

it’s not the Ritz, but it’s pleasant enough. Well, it’s only for a couple of days. And then I’ll be, I’ll be back at home. Whoa. But still having to stay a few feet away from everybody. Strange how a little tiny pill can radiate for days. Hey, hi. Hey, Kayla. I take full responsibility for pulling this escape. I, I should have been keeping an eye on her.

It is not your fault. I was told actually that you were covering her event. Fundraiser. I just wish she had called me before she did something so reckless. So, uh, how is she doing? Well, her levels are still higher than I’d like, but if she follows the proper protocol, I think that she could probably go home tomorrow.

Great, great, great. Look, Kayla, I promise you from here on out, I will keep her in line. Hmm, well, good luck with that.

So, now what will we both just do? Keep our distance till we’re radiation free. Oh my god, if we have to isolate, I am going to go nuts. Okay, you two. Hey. Hey, uh, Dr. Johnson, is my ankle broken? Uh, no. I checked with the team and the x rays show no breaks, no fractures. Just a very serious sprain. Okay, well that is good news, and um, it’s honestly starting to feel a little bit better already.

Great. Great. Well, uh, you just need to keep it wrapped up and elevate it, ice it to minimize the swelling, and maybe try to stay off of it as much as you can, all right? Okay, I can do that. Good. On other news, as you know, you were exposed to more radiation than Johnny and Julie, so your levels are a little higher, but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

So, then Well, you’re saying we’re good to go? I am, and you are, both of you. Great, what, what a relief. Yeah, but listen, like I said to Julie, if you feel anything, weakness, nausea, dizziness, anything, you come back here and let us check you out, all right? Copy that. Okay. Get out of here, you two. Do you know what I’m gonna do now?

I’m gonna kiss you.

Oh, there you are. Kate, listen, now’s, now’s not a good time. Okay, well, you’re going to need to make it a good time, you see, because I’ve left you three messages and not a return phone call, nothing. Okay, Kate, listen. Okay, and the other thing, you’ve been avoiding me at the pub. Now, why is that, Harris? Why are you avoiding me?

I’m glad to be getting out of here. Because of Tripp and Wendy? Yeah. I just don’t want them caught in the line of fire again now that Clyde’s still in my hair. I just, yeah, I can’t believe he wants another favor with this damn black book. I just, I wish I was there when he, when he called you. Yeah, well, hearing his voice makes my skin crawl.

The hell are you doing?

I was just picking up the last of my things. You got a lot of personal things behind the wine bottles? Look, I was just, uh, Okay, you caught me. Alright, I figured a couple bottles of good wine was the least this place owed me. Why am I being interrogated? What are you doing here? What am I I own the place.

I’m doing inventory. Did you see the sign on the door? Can’t wait to see it in a couple of weeks. Yeah, it’s kind of hard to miss. Look, EJ let me keep the restaurant when he kicked me out at DiMera. And I figured my people had been out of work long enough, and with Clyde out of the picture We’re going to reopen and make this the best damn restaurant in the state.

Kate, I have not been avoiding you. I’ve been extremely busy recovering from nearly being killed. I’m trying to track down Clyde Weston. Oh, yes, well, all of us, everyone wants the police to find Clyde Weston now, don’t we? But you’re not doing that single handedly, correct? You see, because I need you to focus on getting Lucas out of that monastery and out of Statesville permanently.

Because as you remember, remember that sting that got 13 dealers off the street? Well, that was thanks to Lucas and your promise. Okay, we knew dismantling Clyde’s syndicate inside Statesville was going to take some time, even with everything Lucas gave us. Well, it’s really easy for you to be patient, isn’t it?

Because it’s not your son who’s in that monastery, slowly going insane. Okay, I understand. No. No, you don’t understand, you see, because you almost got my son killed. You got him pulled into all of this and then you abandoned him. So if you want to talk and tell, I suggest you do a deep dive on me and what I’ve been capable of, especially when it comes to protecting my children.

I would do anything for my girls, Abraham. You should not be shocked by that. My daughter was lost in a snowstorm. I had no choice but to do what I did. That’s where we disagree. You put people at risk, Paulina. Okay, I’ll own that. You, you risked your own life. It was a calculated risk. I was told the radioactivity would decrease with time.

The doctors hadn’t cleared you, Paulina. It wasn’t safe for you to leave. Full stop. I know, I know, I know. Not only did I put lives at risk, including my own, I abused my power and potentially damaged my reputation. It’s all, you know, all been pointed out to me already. But I, I will repeat, Abraham, my daughter was missing.

I was afraid I would never, never see her again. And now No way was I just going to sit in this room and twiddle my thumbs. Paulina, I love that you’re the force of nature that you are. But this was, this was ill advised, to say the least. I’ll admit, I’ll admit, uh, I took a chance. That it was a risky thing to do, but we all, we all made it out of that place.

Very treacherous situation alive because of me and Chanel was reminded once again that I will stop at nothing. Nothing to make sure that she’s safe. That’s a win win in my book. Uh, so. Now, you know, that’s all settled. Did anyone find my phone? Okay, easy.

You alright? Hurts pretty bad, huh? Yeah, just when I put too much pressure on it. Stop doing that. Yeah, well, why didn’t I think of that? I’m trying to help. Alright. Okay, that’s better. See? Uh huh. See? Uh huh. Man, what a week, right? In the hospital, limping, radioactive. Yeah, but the rest of it was perfect though, right?

I mean, you know, Julie showing up as we’re making out on the couch, thinking the cabin was empty. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I had successfully blocked that out, so thanks for reminding me. Yeah, no problem. And then, all of us getting trapped together in a massive snowstorm, which led to you breaking your ankle.

It’s just a sprain. Well, that was embellishing for dramatic. Oh, yes, of course. I am an aspiring filmmaker, after all. Yeah, I totally understand. And then, the cherry on top. Mama Paulina showing up and giving us all radiation poisoning. Yeah, well, at least she got to drive a snow plow. Yeah, it’s a shame there were no videos of that.

Or even pictures. You know what? I think That we should give it another try. What do you say? We head back to the cabin for round two? Are you crazy? Absolutely not. Okay.

Well, there she is, the one and only, Dr. Johnson. Hello, brother of mine. Great to see you, sis. You too. Everything okay? Well, it’s been quite a day, actually. Well, sounds like you need a Carolyn Brady special. Ah, some mom’s clam chowder? And a shoulder to lean on. Yeah, I need that more than you know. Okay, well, have a seat.

I gotcha.

Ooh, congratulations. From CEO of a multinational corporation to barkeeper. America loves its riches to rags to her. You mind hurrying things up? I’ve got work to do. Yeah, in the restaurant that we built together. Also the restaurant that we ran drugs out of. Have you forgotten that? No, I have not forgotten that.

My son was kidnapped and nearly killed. And my wife was beaten in prison, leg broken. Have you forgotten that too? You know what? You tried to kill Harris twice, so I don’t know why you are giving me grief. You should still be behind bars. What are you, judge, jury, and executioner now? Is that it? Look, I’m just saying, you’re really lucky that you have got a brother with some pull, okay?

Because I’m not. Those, those get out of jail free cards, they really do come in handy, don’t they? You know, that would be an astute observation if it were accurate. But it turns out the get out of jail free card came from Harris. And you know what? I’m not going to sit here and take the blame for a deal that went sideways.

Well, you know that, that your attempt, your attempt at accountability, It’s inspiring. You should also be kissing my feet, bowing down and kissing my feet because I took the blame for this. For everything. You know what? And you were just as guilty as I was. Oh, you are a saint. You are a saint, Stefan. I mean, like, there’s no two ways about it.

I have my regrets, okay? For the things that I’ve done these past several months.

Including what happened between us. Ooh. Huuuuh. Huuh. Oooh. Oooh. Huuuh. Haaaah. HAAHH. Huh. Oooh. I’m sorry, but we’re out late.

But I would do it all again to protect my family. So would I.

You’re right, I would.

Stefan, there’s something that I’ve been meaning to tell you. Look, I actually came here tonight because I

You gonna finish that sentence? Because

I was Feeling nostalgic. About this place. You know, in all the good times I had here, we had here. Were there any? Come on, of course there were.

I guess I just wanted to see the place one last time. Okay.

Okay, I guess I have, and I guess that’s it. I have everything I need. I’m gonna need to get your keys back.

Wow, Kayla, damn. Look, I know you’re used to taking on a lot, but this is way too much, even for you. No, no, no, I can handle it, and I don’t mean to sound like I’m complaining. You have every right to complain. Well, not when I remind myself about what other people have been going through. I mean, that nightmare at Smith Island.

I mean, it’s such a relief that Chanel was found and that everybody, everybody’s alright. Yeah, but what the hell was Paulina thinking? Well, she wasn’t, obviously. Well, she was, but, you know, it was very tunnel vision. I mean, all that mattered to her was saving her child. Which, I mean, of course, we can relate to that.

I mean, every parent wants that. I just think that there are other ways to accomplish it, you know? Anyway, I’m sure she feels like her decision is now vindicated. Well, not sure she should. But, as you say and as we both know, we’d do anything to protect and save our kids. Speaking of which, I haven’t seen Stephanie around lately.

How’s she doing? Well, she’s, she’s going through a rough time. I’m sorry to hear that. Yeah, I mean, I know she wouldn’t want me to go into details about it. I’ll just say that she She’s had her heart broken again, you know, and I, I just wish there was something I could do to make it easier for her, you know?

Magic fix? But I know all I can really do is just be there for her. Well, she’s very lucky. Anybody that’s got you on their side is better off for it. I don’t know about that, but I certainly would do anything for that girl. And those boys of mine. Well, just don’t go stealing any snowplows. Well, that’s not likely.

Kayla. You do know, I am always here for you. Along with Mars Chatter. You are the best brother in the world. Well, I think I’m gonna go to the restroom before I head out.

Any luck? Oh yeah, I ran into Harris on the way to the police station and we had a few words. How’d that go? I told him to get Lucas freed or else.

You know, maybe I should just hang on to the keys. You know, in case of an emergency. Or something, you know, I could always fill in if you need me. I certainly have a lot of time on my hands since I’m still looking for work. I appreciate that, but I think I’m good. And for what it’s worth, I think you and I need to, uh Make a clean break.

Okay.

You take care of yourself. You too.

Well that happened. Yeah, twice. Yeah. That’s incredible. Yeah.

I made a freakin mistake. Yeah.

Well? Clyde’s book’s nowhere to be found. Are you sure? Just let me go back in there with you. No, no, no, no. I don’t think that’s such a good idea. Stefan’s in there right now. Yeah, he, uh, that’s why I came out so quickly. He says he’s back here to do inventory before he reopens. Things got pretty heated between the two of us, and he made me turn my keys back in.

Okay, you know, we should, we should go. No, no, no, you know what, I’m just gonna hang back and talk to Stefan here, just, just the two of us.

Play nice.

I’m unarmed, detective. Just so you know. I’m not. Just so you know. Okay, why don’t you say what you need to say. You know, I have a question. How the hell are you out of jail?

Well, I would say that we ran the gauntlet. Came out on the other side, relatively unscathed. We spoke to my mother, waved at yours through some protective glass, of course. Let’s blow this popsicle stand, huh? Absolutely. All right. Okay, okay. Okay, hold on. I am telling you, it is not going to be easy going up those stairs to our bedroom.

That’s why we’re not going back there just yet. Okay, don’t even joke like that. I told you I am never going back to that. Yes, okay, I know, you’ve made your point very clear. I, uh, actually had something else in mind. Another surprise? Yes, but you’re gonna like this one, I promise.

Let’s go.

Ava! Oh, hey, Kayla. Um, nice to see you, but if you’ll excuse me, I’ve gotta No, no, no. As a matter of fact, I won’t. Oh, okay. Here it comes. Where do I even begin? Oh, I don’t know. How about my, um, reckless disregard for anyone but myself? Oh, you think you’re so smart, don’t you? But you never learn. Well, you know something?

There’s gonna be a reckoning. With all the damage that you’ve caused my family and the people that I care about. You know, I don’t have time for this. And nearly getting your son killed? By the way, I mean, how do you even sleep at night? I tried to protect my son. I begged him to go to China with Wendy. He didn’t listen.

Oh, well, that’s a great solution. Trying to convince your son to leave the continent so he stays out of the crossfire of your crimes. And if you can fathom what it would do to Steve if Trip lost his life, he is my son. Can you even fathom what it would do to me? But you would have been responsible for it!

Of course, you probably would have figured out a way to blame somebody else. Okay. You have no idea what I had to do to save my son. Oh, damn it, Ava! You wouldn’t have had to save him if you wouldn’t have gotten involved with Clyde Weston in the first place. Oh, my God, how dare you? It’s just another one of your kind.

Conniving little self centered schemes. And then you have the cruelty to drag Steve into it. Forcing him to break that psycho out of prison. Oh, yeah. I know all about it. Okay, then maybe you want to keep your voice down? Unless you want to see your husband behind bars. You abuse people, Ava. And you abuse Steve over and over and over again.

And I’m going to tell you something right now. You stay the hell away from my husband. You understand me. What’s going on out here?

Now the only thing that makes sense is you and EJ must have cooked up some kind of deal or your ass would still be locked up. You seem very passionate about that. No, I’m passionate about making the world a safer place. You tried to kill me and you confess to working for a drug lord. But it made me, maybe the judge realized that I did what I did because my wife’s life was threatened.

And also that I offered the police and the prosecution useful evidentiary information that led to the significant dismantling of said drug lord’s operation. So why don’t you cool your crusader routine? The judge would never have considered TimeServe without a recommendation from the DA. Oh, you got something on EJ, don’t you?

And not only is that conjecture, it’s also projection because you had something on me, right? You forced my confession, remember? Oh, isn’t that a neat little story that you have? But you’re not denying it, you have something on your brother. All works in mysterious ways, detective. What an arrogant son of a bitch you are.

Be that as it may, for what it’s worth, I am truly sorry for shooting you. And I was relieved when I found out that he would pull through. I know that may be hard to believe, but it is the truth. And if I could go back, I would change so many things.

Alright, so what do you wish you could go back and change? Helping Clyde escape, maybe? No, no, I did not help Clyde escape prison. Yeah? I don’t believe you. I swear on my life. So you’re telling me right now Clyde has not reached out to you since he escaped? No, if he had, I would have alerted the authorities immediately.

Why? Because you’re an upstanding citizen now? There is no gray area for me, as far as Clyde is concerned. For all I hope, he has run far, far away, never to be seen or heard from again. Or better off, dead. Now, I did a lot that I’m not proud of. Just like Ava. Just like you. But I swear to everything I hold dear in this life, I had nothing to do with that monster escaping prison.

Then who the hell did?

Everything is fine. We are, uh, just clearing up a few things here. You sure about that? Yep, yep, I’m sure. Yeah. And if I could just have the key to our room, I will be out of everyone’s hair. What room? Harris’s and mine. I’m staying with him. Your name’s not on that lease, Avis. And no, I can’t give you a key, nor can you stay there.

What? Are you really that puritanical? You’re gonna police who can stay in whose room? No. This is personal, actually, after what you did to my sister, turning her life upside down. You can stay somewhere. Sure as hell won’t be under my roof. Okay, well we’ll see what Harris has to say about that. Yeah, I’m the landlord.

This is my pub. There’s all the rooms above it. I call the shots here, Ava.

Fine.

Thank you. My pleasure.

Where did they find my phone? Out near where you found Chanel. I’ll go pick it up tomorrow. Does that mean you’re not angry anymore?

I don’t love what you did. But I get why you did it and I’m willing to let it go. Oh, bless you, eh? Besides, I’ve been more worried than angry. Oh, well, no need for worry either anymore. Everyone is fine and safe and I’ll soon be radiation free and home with my wonderful husband. I love you. I love you too, Abraham.

Okay. Get it? Get it? Yeah? Okay. Oh, wow. Wow, did you set this up? Yeah, well, the rooms don’t just come like this. Okay, well, you know what? It is a shame because they definitely should. This is just so romantic and lovely. And you know what? I think every hotel should come with a room that has rose petals and candles and champagne.

Yeah, well, I’ll make a suggestion to the manager, okay? And carry me over the threshold again. Well, Dr. Johnson said. To keep you off your feet. Oh, wow. You better be planning to keep me off my feet all night long. Oh, that is the plan. Okay. Oh, uh, wait, question. Um, you checked us in under Mr. and Mrs. John Doe.

Why? Well, you know, I thought after everything we’ve been through, it might be nice if no one could track us down. You know, no more unexpected surprises like back at the cabin. Oh. Wow, you really thought of everything, didn’t you? And, not to spoil the moment or anything, but seriously, how did you set this up?

Ah, it was nothing, you know, a couple calls to the concierge here and to the staff back at home. Some greasing of palms. Oh, and I almost forgot.

Are you gonna serenade me? Indeed, I am. Oh, God. Oh, how lucky am I. Not only do I have the sexiest man in the world, but he also sings and plays the guitar. Yeah. I can also play Chopsticks on the piano and Hot Cross Buns on the recorder. He’s multi talented. Okay, here it goes. Okay.

Baby, your love has been a savior. Every day without your touch is like a wrecking wheel.

Lately,

and I find myself alone here,

but every time I see your smile, how the stones, they clear.

Well, I’ve been working this time say, me, honey, you and I, or so. That each mornin I wake, you’re the sun in my day. Each mornin I wake, you’re the sun in my day. Each mornin I wake, you’re the sun in my daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay So, honey, how was your first day? We haven’t even had a chance to talk, and I was really tired last night. Um Yeah, no, it went okay. I mean it’s a huge relief that all my classes are in the central building, so Well, yeah, that’s, that’s good. And since you are back in school, I’m returning this to you. What, so you can keep tabs on me?

I am giving you an opportunity to earn your trust back with me, young lady. And I hope and pray that you do.

You know, I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was about 19, 20. Really? Yeah. I was told that it stunts your growth. That’s so weird. I think it just gives me anxiety. Oh, great. Where is our waiter? Finn usually has the early shift and I haven’t seen her at all. You’re right. That is weird. You know what? Uh, I’ll be right back.

Deacon: Right, so you’re– you’re telling me that this sugar woman had cosmetic surgery and looks just like sheila?

Lauren: Not looks like. She’s sheila’s identical twin. Look, deacon, I realize how farfetched this all sounds.

Deacon: Farfetched? This sounds insane.

Lauren: But still, it’s true. And that means…

Deacon: What it means is that I’m not crazy after all. That I did see sheila’s face and ten toes.

Steffy: Deacon’s delusional. I told him that the other day.

Liam: You two got into it?

Steffy: Sheila’s dead. I was there. I’m the one who killed her.

Liam: Yeah, I know. In self-defense.

Steffy: Yes! There’s no way she’s still alive. Like I said, the guy’s delusional.

Hope: Well, clearly my father must be in a considerable amount of pain if he’s saying things like this.

Finn: Look, grief can do strange things to a person.

Hope: This is beyond bizarre, what my dad is claiming. I mean, obviously he’s mistaken, but…

Finn: I’m sure he’ll realize eventually.

Hope: Well, what about you? How are you feeling? My dad asked you if a part of you still wishes your birth mother could be here. And you said it didn’t matter because she’s gone. But how would you feel if, against all odds, my father was right about sheila?

Hope: I– I’m not trying to put you on the spot.

Finn: No, I know, and I appreciate that.

Hope: Hm. I mean, your feelings are your feelings. I just– I don’t know, I can’t help but wonder. I mean, does some part of you wish that sheila were still alive?

Liam: It’s has gotta be getting to you, right? Wearing you down?

Steffy: I’m fine.

Liam: Yeah, okay, but– but you would say that even if you weren’T.

Steffy: If deacon would move on, we could all get on with our lives. Instead, he’s concocting these absurd stories. I just want to be done with sheila once and for all.

Deacon: You saw this woman, sugar’s face, with your own two eyes?

Lauren: Yes.

Deacon: She’s the spitting image of sheila?

Lauren: Sheila’s mother wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Deacon: But how is this even possible? I mean, to– to transform one person into another, to give them the same face? I mean, look, I don’t care how talented a plastic surgeon is, to pull something like that off, it’s– it’s–

Lauren: It’s mind-blowing.

Deacon: It’s preposterous. This is the craziest story I’ve ever heard. Sheila really did a number on you, didn’t she?

Lauren: For years. Decades. The nightmare that was sheila carter began with me, and I was so happy that it ended with steffy.

Deacon: And now, like me, you’re wondering if maybe it didn’T. Lauren, this is why you have to tell me everything that you know about sheila and sugar.

[Alarm bell]

Hope: Yeah, but feelings are already complicated enough as is. And then, to have people that have had a big impact on our lives, good or bad, that just–

Finn: Like– like sheila.

Hope: Yeah. I mean, finn, you didn’t know who your birth mother was for the majority of your life. All those years of wondering, and then to finally find out, and it’S… her?

Finn: Yeah, and unfortunately, sheila came with a lot of baggage. She’s done terrible things to my wife and her family. And after all of that, I shouldn’t have any feelings at all for sheila. But I have felt a connection to her. One that I have never fully understood. And I don’t know if it’s biological or what it is, but to answer your question, do I want sheila dead? Stabbed to death by my wife? No.

Steffy: It’s like sheila is still pulling the strings, beyond the grave, and deacon is helping.

Liam: I– I know it feels that way, but sooner or later, deacon is gonna realize that this crazy woman he was integrating into his life is actually gone. It’s just– in the meantime…

Steffy: In the meantime, we can’t get back to normal. Something I want so badly.

Liam: I know, I know, I want that for you too. God knows you’ve been through enough because of sheila, and it just needs to be over.

Steffy: I thought it was, liam. I mean, they pronounced her dead. I thought that sheila could no longer harm me or my family.

Liam: Steffy, hey, she can’T. She actually can’T. No matter how much deacon rants and raves about her still being alive, which is weird.

Steffy: See, that’s– that’s what’s still so frustrating. Like, he’s not able to let her go.

Liam: Well, I– I would say cut the guy some slack, because he’s grieving, except… you know, his actions are hurting you, and that’s not acceptable. And by the way, you know this applies to finn too, right?

Sheila: My husband is just as concerned. But he doesn’t have any more sway over deacon than I do.

Liam: Really? Even though he’s her son?

Steffy: Okay, even though finn is sheila’s biological son, that’s all it’s ever gonna be. She’s never gonna touch finn’s life, or our lives, ever again.

Deacon: I realize this isn’t easy for you, reliving everything sheila put you through.

Lauren: You have no idea.

Deacon: I think I do. Yeah, I love sheila. I mean, as crazy as it sounds to everyone, but… I’m aware of a lot of the awful things she’s done.

Lauren: Just not all of them.

Deacon: Clearly. Especially not the sugar-sheila connection. She never said a word about it.

Lauren: Let’s just say… I don’t know why you let a woman like sheila into your life.

Deacon: I’m not sure either. Not entirely, anyway. But it happened. And now, I’m left trying to figure out something else about sheila.

Lauren: Whether she’s really dead or not.

Deacon: Or if something else is going on. And based on everything you’ve told me, I’m starting to think there is. All right, so… so sheila befriended sugar, who was her warden.

Lauren: Right. And sugar helped her escape. They somehow made it to south america. And sheila promised sugar some plastic surgery. But sheila had the plastic surgeon make sugar identical to sheila. I found out about it when sheila and I were held captive. And that is when–

Deacon: And that’s when she confessed that she made sugar look like her.

Lauren: Confessed? More like bragged. She was so proud of herself that she was able to pull that off. Just another in the long list of crimes by sheila carter.

Deacon: You know, I was really starting to think that I was going crazy. I mean… you know, now that I think about this, I’m more and more convinced that the body that I saw getting torched, that was sugar, not sheila. With cascade platinum plus,

Finn: Does that sound crazy?

Hope: Not wanting your birth mother to be dead? No.

Finn: She did terrible, hurtful things.

Hope: You’ve never made excuses for her, finn. You always knew who sheila was, what she was capable of.

Finn: Exactly. So why aren’t I just glad she’s out of my life forever?

Hope: Well, I don’t want to tell a doctor, but, you know, feelings are complicated. They don’t always make sense.

Finn: Well, in this case, though, it’s not like sheila was part of my world for my entire life. And the fact of the matter is, I was raised by two very loving and amazing adoptive parents who wanted nothing but the best for me. And then, when sheila finally did appear… on my wedding day, no less… for those few moments before I introduced her to steffy and the family, completely unaware of the history that they shared, uh, I– I was thrilled. I mean, I finally had a face and a name to the woman who had carried me for nine months. It was like having all the pieces to the puzzle finally completed, making a picture. You know? At least most of it. Does that make any sense?

Hope: Absolutely.

Finn: You know what doesn’t make any sense, though? How I could still feel something. Or anything for sheila. When she almost took everything that ever mattered to me. My wife, my mom… I mean, my little boy was almost an orphan because of her. And just that should’ve made me want nothing to do with her. Ever. So, I didn’T. At least I know this. Whatever my feelings for sheila, now or then… they aren’t important. Not compared to my feelings for steffy and the kids’ safety and happiness.

Liam: It’s gotta feel good being able to say that.

Steffy: Well, it’s true. Sheila can’t touch our lives ever again.

Liam: Which means that you get to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Steffy: I do. Feels good that sheila’s not here doing her worst.

Liam: I mean, her worst almost cost you your life, so…

Steffy: My husband’s, too. For months, I thought he was dead. Our lives were turned upside down. And somehow, she got out of her crimes. She, like… she avoided justice. ‘Til the night I grabbed the knife and I defended myself.

Liam: And now, for the first time in ages, you can just relax, right? You don’t have to constantly look over your shoulder and worry about the kids.

Steffy: Yeah, that’s– that’s such a relief. Countless times I stood up to her. And the last time–

Liam: Was fatal. For her.

Steffy: Deacon is an idiot if he actually thinks that sheila is alive.

Deacon: So, I’m guessing this happened quite a while ago. Sugar busting out of the mental facility and posing as sheila.

Lauren: Yes. She attacked my son, scotty. And framed sheila. And she almost got away with it.

Deacon: How did she get busted? You know, it didn’t make sense to me that sheila would attack scott. She loved him too much. But that’s a whole other story. I went to go pay her a visit after she was arrested. And that’s when I noticed it.

Deacon: Noticed what?

Lauren: Sheila had severely hurt her ankle. And was walking with a limp. But when they led this sheila away… there was no limp. She was walking perfectly. The police confirmed it and the fingerprints didn’t match.

Deacon: This is– this is unbelievable.

Lauren: And that’s when the floodgates opened up. Sugar confessed everything. She said she did it to– to get back at sheila. She gave up everything for sheila. Her face. Her freedom. So, I mean, honestly, van you even blame her?

Deacon: For– for what? For hating her? For turning her back on her? I mean, that is what you’re saying, right? That sugar had it out for sheila, right?

Lauren: That’s exactly what I’m saying. (Chef vo) fancy feast.

Hope: You do realize you are way overdue, right?

Finn: For what?

Hope: Oh, just… husband and father of the year nomination. I mean, no, really. It’s your unwavering commitment to the kids and your wife. You’re always putting them first.

Finn: You don’t think liam deserves a nom?

Hope: Ah, I think he deserves father of the year, absolutely. He is a great dad. But I do believe your category was husband and father of the year.

Finn: So, we’re not in direct competition for that.

Hope: No, I think you can rest easy on that one. But you really do love it, don’t you?

Finn: Being married to steffy? Yeah. And being the father of two of the most splendiferous kids.

Hope: Oh, splendiferous?

Finn: Yeah. Yes, splendiferous. It’s– it’s kelly’s new favorite word. She’s been using it all the time. Steffy and I have no idea where she picked it up, but she’s been using it constantly. I think it’s wearing off on– on hayes, too. Well, maybe not. I don’t know.

Hope: See, this is what I’m talking about. It’s just– it’s the way you delight in your kids and– and being a husband and your devotion to them. Finn, you’re a good man. And steffy should know how lucky she is to have you.

Steffy: Well, I know you’re in the building to talk business with carter, so I’m assuming that you need to get back to spencer.

Liam: You giving me the heave-ho?

Steffy: I’m not doing that. I just don’t want to waste your time talking about sheila.

Liam: I don’t care. I’ll talk to you anytime, about anything.

Steffy: I know but you have a life, too.

Liam: Well, as it happens, the two biggest priorities in the aforementioned life happen to be my two beautiful, sweet daughters, and you happen to be one of their mothers. Which is kind of why I’m doing all this soul-searching lately, just trying to be the best man and father I can be right now.

Steffy: I think you’re pretty terrific as you are.

Liam: Aw, shucks, thanks. But you’re a little biased. We spent a long time together. We were extremely close and we were fiercely in love. And that– that kind of love, it doesn’t just die.

Deacon: So, you really think sugar could be looking for some payback against of sheila?

Lauren: You’re getting ahead of yourself.

Deacon: How?

Lauren: Sugar is still in prison for her own crimes.

Deacon: What?

Lauren: I just told you. She attacked my son. She tried to kill him.

Deacon: I hope she didn’t succeed.

Lauren: No, no, no, thank god. But if you’re asking me if sugar despises sheila, one hundred percent. Sheila changed her face to look like her own. She set her up to go to prison for her crimes. So, if you think that she has been dreaming about getting revenge on sheila, absolutely.

Deacon: Right.

Lauren: But remember…

Deacon: She’s locked up. She’s not a threat. Unless…

Lauren: Unless what?

Deacon: What– what was sugar’s real name?

Lauren: It was janet webber. Why?

Deacon: I’ve got to find out everything I can about her.

Lauren: Oh, I was so hoping that my decades-long war with sheila was over, and that she was dead. Now, it seems that that may not be the case. Okay, look, I, uh, I’ve gotta get back to genoa city. But deacon, I hope you’re wrong. I hope your eyes were playing tricks on you and that it was sheila that was cremated.

Deacon: Sheila, what happened to you?

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Maggie asked Konstantin to marry her. He was speechless. She wanted to help him and wasn’t ready for him to leave Salem. He was grateful to her, but he couldn’t accept her proposal. Kristen wanted answers from Stefan and EJ about what’s happening. Stefan let her know that EJ was supposed to give him back his things. EJ corrected him and said he would get half. Kirsten needed to know what was going on. Stefan wanted her to ask EJ. Maggie was surprised Konstantin wouldn’t accept her proposal. He didn’t want to cause problems with her family. She wanted to make amends for what Victor did. Maggie thought marrying him was the right thing to do regardless of what her family thought about it. He agreed to marry her after all. EJ felt like he didn’t owe Kristen an explanation. He said that blood meant more than anything. Kristen reminded him that she was just as much a DiMera as he was. EJ informed Stefan that he had to resign from the company. Stefan didn’t like how he ruined his reputation while EJ came out smelling like a rose. Maggie wanted Konstantin to keep their engagement to himself. She walked out the room. Konstantin thought all the pieces were falling into place. Maggie hoped she was doing the right thing by marrying Konstantin. Theresa had a conversation with Alex and he let her know that the magazine was going to close. She was upset and decided to quit. Theresa went to see Maggie and talked to her about what happened with the magazine. Maggie tried to make her feel better. Theresa realized she only got the job because she flirted with Alex. Maggie believed that she had the talent to make the magazine work. Theresa felt like she was a pretender. Maggie built her up so she would feel better. She blamed Alex for what happened with the magazine. Maggie wanted to talk to Alex about it.

Konstantin ran into Theresa at the mansion. Kristen wondered if Stefan was going to let EJ steam roll over him and take the business. Stefan said he had to quit or be fired. He realized that she was pardoned felon. Stefan thought she could be CEO. Kristen liked the idea. They felt like they were going to make a great team. Stefan wanted to take EJ out of DiMera Enterprises. Konstantin threatened Theresa. He warned her to stick with the plan or she would regret it. Stefan figured Kristen wanted the CEO position. She admitted that she wanted it. Kristen wondered what he wanted in return. He wanted her to help him get Gabi out of prison. Maggie met with Alex. She wanted to congratulate him to give him another chance to make the right decision. She wanted him to bring her back to Titan. He said he was fond of Maggie. Under different circumstances, the money should have been his. Theresa told him to leave Salem because no one will want to have anything to do with him after what he did to Maggie. He refused to leave Salem until he did what he went there to do. Kristen thought trying to get Gabi out of prison would be insane. Stefan thought she was overqualified for the job. He wanted to know if she wanted the job. Stefan asked her if they had a deal. She said she would think about it. Kristen asked if Gabi killed Li. Stefan said she didn’t. She told him that he had to find the person who killed him.

Days Update Friday, April 19, 2024

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Chad and Thomas play magic cards at the Brady Pub as Thomas tries to explain the game to Chad. Stephanie comes in and identifies the game, so Chad asks her to help him.

Marlena finishes a call at home as John brings her a glass of water. They talk about Jude being asleep as they are babysitting. John asks about Kayla. Marlena confirms that everyone was rescued from the cabin and on their way to the hospital. John asks about the radiation. Marlena says that Paulina did her best to distance herself, so it seems like everyone should be okay. Marlena adds that she understands why Paulina went out there because of her daughter, but she knows Paulina would be feeling a lot of guilt if she got anyone sick. John remarks that guilt is really rough to live with.

Rafe goes to the police station and checks in with Jada, who informs him that the state troopers checked the campgrounds in Montana where Clyde Weston was allegedly seen but it was a mistaken identity. Rafe complains that he thought it was a good lead. Jada encourages that Clyde or Goldman will eventually mess up. Jada goes to update the evidence log. Everett then arrives and asks Rafe if there’s any news on the manhunt. Rafe says no and even if there were, he wouldn’t be sharing it with him. Everett questions if he’s denying press access. Rafe responds that he’s denying Everett and declares that until he does the right thing and signs the divorce papers to give Jada some peace of mind, he’s not welcome here.

Konstantin joins Maggie in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie talks about trying to pick out a wedding date but notes that she has to check with her lawyer to go over any possible immigration paperwork and if there’s time to get it completed before his VISA expires. Konstantin says he has something to offer her to express his commitment to their arrangement. Konstantin tells her it’s his gratitude for her help and generosity as he then presents her with a ring which he says belonged to his mother and now he wants Maggie to have it. Maggie tells him that it’s beautiful but cries that she can’t accept it because she’s not ready yet to remove her ring from Victor. Maggie hopes she hasn’t offended him. Konstantin says she could never do that and offers to put the ring on a chain and asks if she would accept wearing it around her neck. Maggie says that would be lovely and thanks him. Konstantin swears that he would never take advantage of her.

Marlena agrees with John that guilt can be very difficult to live with, but says that sometimes it can have a positive effect and turn things in the right direction. John questions if she thinks he doesn’t have any reason to feel guilty. John talks about a homicidal maniac being free because of him and an innocent young woman was killed by him. John knows he said he’d work on it but calls it such a damn struggle. Jude then wakes up crying, so John goes to get his bottle. Marlena tells Jude that John is such a good man and he really deserves some peace of mind.

Thomas excitedly hugs Stephanie. Chad mentions being hungry and sends Thomas to get them cookies. Stephanie sits with Chad and notices that Thomas left Konstantin’s card in with the rest of the cards and calls it a neat card. Chad thanks her for rescuing him. Stephanie talks about how she used to play the card game all the time in Seattle with her brothers and mentions that Everett taught her how to play. Stephanie adds that she heard Stefan is out of jail and showed up at EJ’s press conference, so she asks what’s going on. Chad says other than reporting on it, he’s doing his best to stay out of all the DiMera insanity for he and his children’s sake. Chad adds that he can’t wait to get back in to the Horton House and talks about his kids identifying as Hortons even though Abigail is gone.

Rafe tells Everett that he has nothing to say to him, so he can send another reporter over from the Spectator and he’ll be happy to comment. Everett says he gets it but that what happened between he and Jada is personal, so what he’s doing is abuse of power. Rafe questions him talking to him about abuse after he lied to Jada, cheated on her, says he doesn’t know who she is and refuses to sign the divorce papers. Rafe asks what the hell is wrong with him. Everett responds that he honestly wishes he knew. Rafe tells him that if he’s looking for sympathy, he’s not going to find it with him after he treated Jada like crap, lied to her, and cheated on her while now insisting she’s a stranger but he refuses to sign the divorce papers. Rafe tells Everett to give Jada a chance to get him the hell out of her life. Rafe thinks it’s time Everett figures out what’s wrong with him and tells him to get the hell out of here. Everett then exits the police station. Jada comes back in and greets Rafe after overhearing.

Marlena and John put Jude down after feeding him. They talk about being glad that Eric and Sloan agreed to let them babysit. Marlena thinks it’s important that Eric and Sloan have time together to themselves. John agrees and notes that he kind of got the feeling that Eric was distracted, like he was worried about something. Marlena reveals that Eric confided in her that they are having some financial problems with a lot of expenses and Eric’s photography business not taking off yet. John suggests they could help them out a bit. Marlena doesn’t think they would accept that but says they could help by spreading the word about Eric’s photography, offering to babysit, and telling Eric they are proud of him. Jude wakes up crying again so John goes to check on him.

Konstantin put his ring on a chain and puts it around Maggie’s neck, adding that he’s honored that she is now wearing it. Maggie comments on how much the ring means to him and feels she owes it to him even though it doesn’t make up for his suffering because of Victor. Konstantin says it shouldn’t be her burden since she is not responsible for what Victor did. Maggie points out that Victor isn’t here to make amends, so she feels like she represents him. Maggie knows nothing could take away or lessen the pain of losing his daughter, but she can at least help him stay in the country. Konstantin tells Maggie that her company is what he enjoys most as she always livens his spirits. Maggie says he livens her spirits too and that’s why she’s not willing to say goodbye to him.

Stephanie and Chad talk about Thomas growing. Stephanie asks how it’s going at the Kiriakis Mansion. Chad jokes that it feels like grand central station like they are all on top of each other. Chad feels bad for Julie since she wanted to escape the chaos but got stuck in the snowstorm on Smith Island. They talk about the weather being crazy lately. Thomas returns with cookies for them. Chad mentions having plans to go to the playground but having to play endless hide and seek because of the weather. Thomas invites Stephanie to come to the Kiriakis Mansion and play with them. Stephanie says she would love to, so Thomas suggests tomorrow. Everett enters the Pub and sees them together as Stephanie tells Thomas that she thinks that might work.

Rafe apologizes to Jada if he overstepped and says he just sees what Everett is doing to Jada, so when he sees him, he goes a little crazy. Jada says she was actually going to thank him for defending her honor. Rafe tells her that he made it very clear that Everett is not welcome until he signs the divorce papers. Jada says she appreciates that but she’s been thinking that maybe she should chill out about the divorce papers and maybe he will come around if she stops pushing him. Jada adds that it’s not like she’s in a rush to get married again yet.

Konstantin tells Maggie that he was so thrown when she proposed to him since it’s usually the man that gets down on one knee. Maggie is not sure that’s the custom anymore as things have changed. Konstantin bets that Maggie and Victor had a big wedding but Maggie says it wasn’t big and it was very simple in the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie says it was like her first wedding to Mickey. Maggie brings up that Konstantin never says much about his first marriage or wife. Konstantin says there isn’t much to say as they got married, they lost Catharina, and then got divorced and he never saw her again as she disappeared. Konstantin declares that part of his life is the last thing he wants to talk about.

Chad sees Everett and calls him over. Chad asks how it went at the police station. Thomas reminds Chad that he promised no work talk. Chad says he just has one follow up question and then they are done. Chad tells Thomas to start packing up. Thomas points out that they haven’t eaten their cookies yet. Chad decides they’re going to let Stephanie and Everett have the cookies while they will stop at the Bakery on the way home which Thomas agrees to. Chad asks Everett if he got what he needed. Everett says there was nothing super exciting but an unproductive run in with Rafe. Chad says they can’t get headline material every time. Chad asks Thomas if he’s ready to go. Stephanie hugs Thomas and says it was so good to see him. Thomas asks Stephanie if she’s coming over tomorrow. Stephanie says that she and Chad will check their schedules, so if it’s not tomorrow, it will be sometime really soon. Thomas says okay but he hopes it’s tomorrow. Chad and Thomas then exit the Pub together. Stephanie asks if Everett cares to share the cookies with her and says she could use the company, so he agrees. Stephanie asks how therapy with Marlena is going. Everett flashes back to telling Marlena that he didn’t want any more hypnosis because some things are better left unknown. Everett then claims to Stephanie that hypnosis is good and really helpful, so Marlena really wants him to continue with it. Stephanie asks if he will. Everett admits that he’s not sure. Stephanie asks if he’s talked to Marlena about why he doesn’t feel comfortable signing the divorce papers. Everett confirms that he has and Marlena has a theory that his subconscious is hiding feelings that he’s not ready to handle. Stephanie asks if that’s feelings for Jada. Everett says he’s certain that is not the case. Stephanie knows Jada is going through a lot, so she really wishes for both of their sakes, that he will sign the papers and set Jada and himself free.

Konstantin apologizes to Maggie if he upset her. Maggie says there are a lot of topics she prefers to avoid too, but she’s very comfortable talking about her career. Maggie announces she is returning with Titan. Konstantin calls that wonderful news. Maggie says she will be working with Alex and thinks they will get along very well. Maggie decides to go get lemon bars for them from the kitchen. Konstantin then begins searching the room for his card. Chad and Thomas come in. Chad greets Konstantin, who says he lost something very important to him. Konstantin says he could’ve sworn it was in his room but he’s afraid that it’s lost. Chad then asks if Thomas knows anything about that.

Rafe tells Jada that he didn’t think she wanted the divorce papers signed so she could get married again, but so she could get rid of Bobby Stein, the guy who hurt her so badly. Jada confirms that is true. Rafe understands it’s premature to be talking about marriage and he’s not trying to rush her in to anything. Rafe says he just wants her to be happy. Jada tells Rafe that he makes her happy and she’s very grateful for him. Rafe feels the same about her, but thinks they don’t get to spend enough time together. Jada points out that they work together and practically live together. Rafe says it’s still not enough because he loves spending time with her. Rafe thinks the only way they could spend more time is for them to live together, but he’s already asked her so he’s not going to ask her again. Jada thinks he should ask again, encouraging him to take risks.

Everett tells Stephanie that he understands why it would be so much easier if he signed the divorce papers and he wants to, but part of him is afraid, though he sees her point. Marlena and John then enter with Jude and greet them. Stephanie comments on them babysitting. Marlena says they took Jude for a stroll as it’s a nice night. John goes to get coffee and tea. Marlena asks how Stephanie is. Stephanie says she’s grateful that she’s helping Everett with his memory loss as they were just talking about her hypnosis and she hopes that he continues. Marlena and John then go to get a table. Stephanie tells Everett that she should get going, but Everett asks her to come back to the Salem Inn with him as he has something to show her. Stephanie mentions having a work call in 30 minutes. Everett promises it will be quick, so Stephanie agrees to go. Stephanie tells John and Marlena that it was good to see them as she exits with Everett.

Konstantin doesn’t understand why Chad would ask Thomas about the item he misplaced. Chad explains that they were playing hide and go seek and he found Thomas in Konstantin’s room. Chad apologizes and asks if Thomas moved or took anything from Konstantin’s room as now would be a good time to return it. Thomas insists that he didn’t. Chad tells Konstantin that he’s sorry that Thomas went in his room and gives him his word that it won’t happen again. Konstantin tells him that it’s no trouble. Chad remembers to go get Thomas’s backpack for a permission slip and tells Thomas to set up their card game. Chad exits and then Konstantin tells Thomas that they need to have a little chat about his card because he has a feeling that Thomas took it. Konstantin warns that Chad would be very angry with him if he lied, but if he returns the card to him right now and promises to never go in his room again, Chad will never know. Konstantin asks Thomas what it will be.

Marlena calls Eric and tells him that everything is going great with Jude. Marlena encourages Eric that he and Sloan should just relax and enjoy themselves. Jude wakes up crying, so John takes him out of the Pub to try and calm him down. John talks about how he can’t wait to take Jude to baseball games. Marlena comes out and sees that John got Jude calmed down. John thinks Jude returned the favor as holding him makes it hard to imagine there’s anything wrong in the world. John declares that he doesn’t want to waste any more time feeling guilty and tearing himself down, especially when he has so much to be grateful for.

Thomas returns Konstantin’s card to him and exits the living room. Konstantin declares that it is almost time to get what is rightfully his.

Jada tells Rafe that she might have turned down living together the first time, but maybe she sees things differently now which Rafe questions. Jada brings up her failed marriage and says Rafe now probably knows way more about than he wanted to and after that was her relationship with Eric and they were both disasters, so it got her cynical about relationships and men, but then Rafe came along and proved her wrong. Jada calls Rafe sweet, loyal, honest, kind, and sexy. Jada says she’s so lucky to have him and calls him her person. Jada thinks he should ask her again. Rafe calls her the sweetest girl he’s ever met who is also sweet, loyal, kind, and sexy. Rafe asks Jada to move in with him which she agrees to do and they kiss.

Everett brings Stephanie to his room at the Salem Inn and shows her his divorce papers. Stephanie doesn’t understand. Everett doesn’t know what, if anything, is next for them, but she made him realize that if there’s any chance for them to be something, he has to clean the slate. Everett then asks Stephanie to be his witness which she agrees to. Everett then signs the divorce papers as “Bobby Stein”.

[ Knock on door ]

Adam: Sharon, come in. And thank you for getting here so quickly.

Sharon: How could I not? You said you needed help before you made things worse. I know you, adam. I know that tone in your voice. Is this about connor?

Adam: He’s supposed to be getting help from these people. We’re supposed to trust that they know what they’re talking about.

Sharon: Slow down. Just tell me what happened.

Adam: Sharon, I have never felt so helpless in my life.

Sharon: I understand that. Was there an update or a meeting?

Adam: Oh, yes. Yes, there was definitely an update, and it’s not good.

Summer: Ready or not, here I come! Harrison! Harrison? Harrison? Where are you? Harrison? Harrison, where are you?

[ Summer panting ]

Victor: Michael baldwin will be here shortly.

Kyle: He’s the one who arranged the payoff the first time?

Victor: Yes.

Jack: This time, I insist on upping the offer, adding to this offshore account that she’s supposedly getting.

Victor: Jack, that’s very kind of you, very considerate of you, but I’ve offered her an enormous amount of money.

Jack: I’m sure you did. I would like to add to it. Damn it, this is my grandson, too. I want to do something.

Victor: If it makes you happy, then I’m sure that she’ll be very glad to receive the additional money.

Kyle: Okay, I need to go check in on summer, bring her up to speed. Apparently, traci checked in on her earlier, and she fell asleep in harrison’s bed.

Victor: Please give my granddaughter a big, big hug.

Jack: From both of us.

Victor: And assure her we will not rest until we bring her child home.

Kyle: Will do. Um, dad, victor, thank you. For both of you to set aside your differences to help my son.

Jack: Anything for harrison.

Victor: Anything. For people who feel limited

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by… -you got this buddy.

-During an asthma attack,

Adam: Chelsea and i had a video call with connor’s psychiatrist today. She’s the main doctor in charge of connor’s growing team of specialists, and they filled us in on their latest cookie-cutter diagnosis.

Sharon: Well, it can be overwhelming to dive into the deep end of something like this. It’s a lot of information at once.

Adam: Oh, no, I can handle information. Okay, I can do a deep dive with the best of them, but this, it was just jargon. Just a bunch of jargon that was supposed to impress me, sharon.

Sharon: Well, I doubt that’s the case.

Adam: They were throwing around these terms and labels, and we’re talking about an actual child here, not just a collection of some disorders.

Sharon: That’s very true. And I’m sure that connor’s team sees him as the wonderful young man that he is.

Adam: I’m sure that they do.

Sharon: You know, it might help if you trust yourself a little bit more.

Adam: Sharon, I’m not the one that I’m worried about here, okay? According to connor’s cabal of doctors, there’s a whole new aspect to his illness.

Sharon: And what is that?

Adam: Trauma. And guess who’s responsible for it? Yep, you’re looking at him. According to these brilliant specialists, it’s most likely thanks to me that my son’s life has just been one traumatic event after another.

[ Summer sniffling ]

[ Phone ringing ]

Chance: Hey, sorry, I’ve been in and out of meetings the whole day. What’s going on? You okay?

Summer: I need your help.

Nikki: I just came by to see how you’re holding up.

Victoria: I’m– I’m– I’m fine.

Nikki: Oh, darling. Where’s cole?

Victoria: He’s gone to check in with the security team to see if there’s been any updates. I mean, of course, we both know if there were anything, we would have heard already, but, I don’t know, he’s got to stay busy. We both do.

Nikki: I– I wish he hadn’t left you alone. I mean, you could have walked down there with him. Get some air. Why don’t you and i go for a walk?

Victoria: Mom, I appreciate the offer. I really do, but I don’t want to leave, just in case. I’ve actually been rearranging the cupboards in the kitchen, thinking that maybe we would get a few new things, you know? Maybe some of the china that– that we lost in the fire.

[ Victoria sighing ] And, um, I’ve just been debating. I’ve also been going over the last few conversations that I had with claire, over and over again in my head.

Nikki: Yeah, I’ve been doing the same thing, but I haven’t come up with anything that might be helpful, have you?

Victoria: Several things, actually. She just kept talking about how happy she was that we were moving back in here, and she was so excited to meet her brother and sister, and how it was a dream to her that she was finally gonna find out what it was like to have a normal, happy family life. Mom, my heart won’t let me believe that claire would turn her back on that dream. Not for jordan. Not for anyone.

Jack: How’s nikki holding up?

Victor: Well, she went down to check on– on victoria.

Jack: I’m glad they have that relationship. That bond is priceless right now.

Victor: Yeah. You know, parenthetically, I’m very glad that the sponsoring business between you and nikki is moving rather smoothly. I thank you for that. Of course, it was interrupted by that fellow walking to her table and offering her a drink. I’m sure he was prompted by jordan to do so.

Jack: We still don’t know that jordan did that.

Victor: Jack, it was jordan. I promise you.

Jack: And she knew where we were and then orchestrated that disgusting trick.

Victor: You and I know that nikki could have fallen off the wagon.

Jack: Victor, nikki knows this one by heart. No matter what happens, it’s always one day at a time. And I know you and I aren’t too happy admitting it, but you and I have always had one thing in common.

Victor: What’s that?

Jack: Our love for our family. Our loyalty, our devotion to keeping them safe, whether it’s our wife, our children, or our grandchildren.

Victor: And you and I know we now have to get our grandson back. No matter what.

Jack: No matter what.

Michael: Jack, victor, I’m so sorry to be a– a few minutes later than I expected.

Victor: It’s all right, michael. The offer that I made to jordan, does all that still stand?

Michael: It’s all in place. The, uh, offshore account, the new identity complete with a new passport, and social security number, the deed to the house in france. But we never meant for jordan to walk free, obviously, but the documentation had to be legit for her to fall for it the last time.

Jack: That’s smart. It’s brilliant. Thank you for everything you have done. Hopefully, it works this time.

Michael: Unfortunately, this time, there’s a difference.

Jack: How so?

Michael: We don’t have a trap ready to spring on her.

Victor: We’ll set one.

[]

Sharon: Adam, just slow down, and tell me exactly what the doctor said, because I don’t believe for a moment that they’re laying the blame on you.

Adam: Why? Why? Because highly skilled professionals aren’t capable of saying and doing anything wrong? I mean, they sure as hell made me feel like they were laying the blame on me.

Sharon: Well, did they make you feel that way, or are you making yourself feel that way?

Adam: They said that they’re still getting to the root of it, but there is evidence to suggest that connor’s ocd and his– his trauma are going on simultaneously. According to them, some traumatic event might have, I don’t know, pushed his ocd front and center. And you know as well as I do, connor has had plenty of trauma in his life through no fault of his own.

Sharon: It’s true. Connor has had a lot to deal within his short life. And I know all too well what it’s like when your own mistakes end up ricocheting onto your children. But adam, don’t take this all on yourself. That’s not gonna do you any good. It’s certainly not going to do connor any good. And you know what I’ll bet you? That he doesn’t blame you for a moment of it.

Adam: Well– well actually, you’re right, he– he doesn’T.

Sharon: See, there you go.

Adam: Sharon, according to his specialist, he’s at the point where he’s decided that all of the problems in our family are his fault.

Sharon: Oh, no.

Adam: Sharon, my– my son, my– my sweet, innocent, amazing kid. He’s at the point where he’s questioning if he ever should have been born.

Victor: I have two priorities, jack. One is to bring my great-grandson home safely and the other one is to put that bitch into a place from whence she cannot endanger either one of our families.

Jack: I’m with you 100%. Let’s just make sure this time, we lock her up securely.

Victor: What do you mean securely?

Jack: Well, I’m suggesting when we nail her this time, we learn from past mistakes at trapping her.

Victor: Do you have an example?

Jack: Victor, come on. If we hadn’t left her in her own trap, instead of putting her in a jail cell where she belonged, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to poison herself and run out of that hospital.

Victor: If it hadn’t been for the inept security at your home, she would not have been able to kidnap the boy.

Jack: Are you really suggesting I didn’t take enough precautions to protect you from this psychopath?

Victor: You’re damn right.

Michael: Gentlemen, gentlemen. I– I think we’re dealing with enough without having to add this conversation to the mix. I mean, we’re all keyed up here. And why? Because an innocent child’s life is at stake, and we’re worried sick about him. But we’re also all on the same team. Harrison’S. I think that’s something we should remember.

Summer: Kyle, where have you been?

Kyle: Victor and my dad, at the ranch.

Summer: Please tell me that you have some news.

Kyle: I do. I got the demands from jordan.

Summer: You mean the demands from claire.

Kyle: We don’t know that for sure yet.

Summer: My god, kyle, the communications are coming from her phone. She was the last person with harrison.

Kyle: Okay, let’s just not do this right now, okay? Victor filled dad and me in on how he caught jordan the last time around. We’re going to use that same blueprint again.

Summer: Okay, how did he do it?

Kyle: Victor offered her millions in an offshore bank account. And a new identity, complete with passport, birth certificate, all the necessary documents. Safe passage out of the U.S. And a deed to a house in france with her new name. She will be free to live out the rest of her days.

Summer: Oh, my god. No wonder she was tempted. What do jordan and claire want now?

Kyle: Well, she wants him, wants us, to make good on that promise this time. No tricks, no traps. And once she’s safely tucked away in europe, she’ll reveal the location of harrison.

Summer: No. No, absolutely not. We are not doing that. Once she’s safely tucked away in europe? How long is that going to take? Days? Weeks? While our son is god knows where wondering if we’re ever gonna save him? If they even bother to tell us the truth at all once they’re gone.

Kyle: Summer, summer, summer, we will figure it out as we go along, okay? You have to admit, this is a start.

Summer: Give me the phone number.

Kyle: What?

Summer: Give me claire’s phone number.

Kyle: Why? What do you want her phone number for?

Summer: I’m gonna offer myself in exchange for harrison. He will come home. I will be their hostage until all the demands are met.

[Coughing]

Adam: I have no idea how to process this, sharon. Connor should be excited about his new video game. You know, playing soccer. Or going to the movies with his friends. He’s a smart, kind, caring kid.

Sharon: Yes, he is. He always has been.

Adam: Yeah, in spite of him never really ever getting a break. You know, it’s not fair. His life has just been way too unpredictable. It’s been way harder than he’s deserved. To the point where he’s questioning why he was even born. It’s too much, sharon. It’s like when I think about this stuff, I can’t breathe. There’s like this– this weight on my chest and it just– it gets heavier and it gets heavier and…

Sharon: Okay, listen to me, adam. That is not connor questioning that, okay? It’s his ocd. It is a demon hiding somewhere in his mind. It’s filling it with ideas like that. Ideas that connor would never have on his own. You have to believe that.

Adam: I do believe that. Because I know exactly what that feels like. I mean, this whole ordeal. This is the demon in my mind, sharon.

Kyle: Summer. I’m not surprised you’d risk your life for our son. But I can’t let you do–

Summer: No, kyle. There’s no buts about this. I’m doing it. I don’t care what happens to me. I just want to bring our son home.

Kyle: Summer, I know. I do. But it’s not going to work.

Summer: How do you know that? Claire hates me. She might jump at the opportunity to trade me for harrison.

Kyle: I will tell you why it’s not going to work. Because I already tried.

Summer: What are you talking about?

Kyle: I sent a text asking to trade places with harrison. It was immediately rejected.

Summer: Why?

Kyle: I don’t know. All I got was a simple “not a chance” as a response.

Summer: You– you don’t think that…

Kyle: What?

Summer: Why– why would they care if it was harrison that they were holding on to? Unless they… they already–

Kyle: No, no, summer, do not go there. Do not let that thought into your mind for one second.

Victor: I don’t want to hear that bs. You keep searching. Is that clear? I don’t pay you to fail.

Jack: Still no luck tracing the cell phone, huh?

Victor: No, none.

Michael: The logical explanation is that jordan knows that a cell phone can’t be traced when it’s turned off. She’s obviously turning it on for a few minutes here and there when she needs to use it.

Jack: There’s got to be some other way to find out where she has taken harrison.

Michael: Jack, they could be absolutely anywhere.

Jack: Argh!

Michael: I’m sorry. Look, jack, I know it’s hard, but you’ve got to hang in there.

Jack: The thought of that poor little boy scared to death with that lunatic hovering over him. I swear to god if she hurts a hair on his head…

Victor: I promise you one thing. That bitch will pay.

Nikki: No matter what claire has or hasn’t done, we both know that jordan is behind all of this.

Victoria: Exactly, mom. She’s been tormenting my daughter from the moment she stole her from the hospital. Since the day she put cole and me through such hell. Thinking that we lost our baby.

Nikki: And she hasn’t changed her colors at all.

Victoria: You know, I think she might just hate claire the most, though. For seeing through her and for rejecting her. Mama, I think that claire might be in as much danger as harrison.

Nikki: I agree. And I need you to promise me something.

Victoria: What is that?

Nikki: That someday, you’ll find a way to forgive me. Even if I never forgive myself.

Victoria: Forgive you? What are you talking about?

Nikki: We stood there and watched jordan collapse after drinking that poison. If I hadn’t called for help, if I had just stayed out of it, she would’ve died and none of this would be happening.

Victoria: No, no, no, no. You can’t blame yourself for having human decency. You saved someone who’s done nothing but torture you.

Nikki: And I keep trying to tell myself that, but there is nothing decent or moral about any of this. How can I look at what’s happening and think that I did the right thing? I mean, even my idea of using our anniversary party to lure jordan out, I mean, that backfired miserably.

Victoria: I know, but mom, you can’t, because you can’t think that way. You don’t think that way. Thank god.

Nikki: Well, maybe it’s time that I learned.

Victoria: What are you saying?

Nikki: When you were a little girl, I taught you that if you make a mess, it’s your job to clean it up. So, the way I see it, this is my mess to clean up. I need to be the one to save harrison and claire and put an end to jordan’s reign of terror once and for all.

If you have wet amd,

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. With spring black friday savings,

Summer: How am I supposed to shut out these feelings, kyle? How? Did any of the messages include a picture of harrison? A video? Anything? I mean, I need to know that he’s actually okay.

Kyle: There was nothing like that, no. But that doesn’t mean we can assume he’s hurt. Jordan might be avoiding sending a picture because she doesn’t want to give away a clue about his location. Or she might be rejecting a trade because she thinks it’s a trap.

Summer: It’s possible, right? It’s possible.

Kyle: Besides, harrison will be a lot easier to control than an adult. He won’t be looking for a chance to turn the tables on jordan like you or I would.

Summer: Or like claire would. If she actually gave a damn. If she cared about harrison like she said she did, if she was innocent in all of this, she would’ve found a way to get the drop on jordan or at least send us some sort of signal. Wouldn’t she have?

Kyle: Summer, I’m not saying claire is innocent.

Summer: No, you just keep on blaming it all on jordan.

Kyle: Okay, we can work out what claire did after we get our son back, okay?

Summer: Fine. What’s my grandpa’s plan? He’s got to have one.

Kyle: Victor and dad were waiting for michael baldwin when I left. Hopefully, they are working out a plan to bring harrison home safely and put jordan away for good. In fact, I should probably head back over there. See if they’re getting anywhere. And maybe if I can help.

Summer: I’m coming with you.

Kyle: Okay. Chance.

Chance: Hey. I came as fast as I could.

Summer: Go ahead. I’ll meet you there.

Chance: What’s going on?

Summer: I’m afraid I’m never gonna see my son again.

Chance: Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Adam: You know, this is happening to connor. It’s just– it doesn’t make sense. You know, none of it– none of it feels real. I keep trying to focus on him, but I can’t get past my own guilt. You know, it’s like I don’t need a team of specialists to make me feel responsible for what connor is going through. I know what I’ve done and what I didn’t do and I should’ve done.

Sharon: What do you mean by that?

Adam: Why didn’t I see it, sharon? From the beginning, you know? When his behavior first started to change. I mean, maybe if I didn’t chalk it up to just a phase or connor’s being quirky, I could have– I could’ve done something about it.

Sharon: Like what? What could you possibly have done?

Adam: I don’t know. But if I was paying the right kind of attention, I could’ve stopped it. But I wasn’t and I didn’T. I didn’T. And how am I ever supposed to forgive myself for that?

Sharon: By accepting the fact that connor has an illness that you knew nothing about and you still don’t understand. Accepting that you are human and fallible and that being a parent is a lesson in humility. We are always going to have moments where we feel like we failed and then we get over ourselves because we know that our children need us. So we have no choice but to keep going and do our best.

Michael: Kyle, any further contact from claire’s phone?

Kyle: Nothing. Still no pings?

Michael: No, it’s just a couple of very brief ones from cell towers that are miles away from each other. So, still no way to pin down a location. I’m telling you, that cell phone is turned off, definitely turned off, when jordan and claire aren’t using it.

Jack: Have you talked to summer?

Kyle: Yeah, at the house. She’s there with chance right now, but she’ll be here soon. She wants to help in any way she can.

Victor: How is she holding up?

Kyle: Exactly like you’d think. She’s a wreck. And it’s come out in anger. Mostly towards me, but if her getting angry at me is what helps her through this nightmare, I’ll take it.

Victor: You’re a good man, kyle.

Kyle: Thank you. Okay, what are our next steps?

Jack: We can’t just sit around waiting for texts and phone calls. We– we have to figure out where jordan has taken harrison.

Victor: And claire. Whatever that lunatic is up to, we have to stay one step ahead of whatever she’s planning. Hellmann’s real mayonnaise.

Sharon: I know you don’t like taking a backseat to anyone, especially when it comes to parenting your son, but I think you need to be realistic about your limitations here.

Adam: What limitations? About recognizing when my own son is in trouble?

Sharon: The limitations about understanding ocd. Even the experts don’t really know what it is. They’re still learning. There’s new research happening every day. What’s happened to connor is scary and it’s unfair, but you are no more responsible for that than anyone else is responsible for the fact that I once had cancer.

Adam: Do you really believe that, sharon?

Sharon: Yes, I do. And I think that instead of dwelling on what you did or didn’t do in the past, you should be giving yourself credit for the fact that right now, you’re doing the right thing. That facility is the right place for connor. Believe it and find a way to overcome your instincts to disbelieve anything the therapists say simply because you don’t like what it is they’re telling you.

Summer: So, as of now, the only people who know where harrison is are the two people who took him. Claire, fresh out of a mental institution, and jordan, who’s a serial killer.

Chance: Summer, I am so sorry. I had no idea. I– I haven’t heard anything from anyone, not even my friends on the force.

Summer: No, I know. My grandpa’s trying to keep it under wraps. We don’t want anything getting out. It seems like jordan has eyes and ears everywhere and we’re not taking any chances.

Chance: Well, the good thing is I think jordan is cautious in her own way. I don’t think anything’s gonna happen to harrison.

Summer: Do you really think that?

Chance: Yes, look, think about it. He’s the only bargaining power that she has. Without him, there’s no leverage. I guess– I guess maybe claire, but harrison likes claire, right? They’re buddies.

Summer: She made sure of that the moment she met him.

Chance: No, no, no, what I’m saying is that connection might get him through this until he’s back home in his own bed. Come here. We’re gonna get him back, okay? And tell me, what’s been done so far?

Summer: I don’t know. My– my grandpa and jack are trying to come up with a plan. I don’t know, chance. You know my grandpa. You know how he is sometimes. I’m– I’m scared that he and jack are gonna do something extreme and send jordan and claire into a panic or something and– oh, my god, I just can’t keep these what-ifs out of my head, and every single one I think of just frightens me more.

Jack: The funds are ready to be moved to the offshore account.

Kyle: Wow, that’s a fortune, dad.

Jack: It’s worth every penny if it saves your son.

Kyle: I know that I can’t thank you enough for putting this much on the line, but you have my word that someday, somehow, I will repay you.

Michael: Well hold off on the repayment plan, kyle. We’re not gonna just hand jordan what she wants and hope that she holds up her end of the bargain.

Victor: I think what we have to figure out is how to lure that woman to us, away from her captives.

Kyle: But how can we do that? She’ll see it’s a trap. It’s too risky.

Jack: Kyle, if we give her everything she wants, we lose our leverage. And she has nothing to lose by covering up her tracks before she disappears.

Victoria: Mom, I am not going to allow you to be the one to fix things with jordan, any more than dad would. Look, I know this is hard for both of us, but we just have to trust dad and the authorities to handle her.

Nikki: We both know full well that your father does not trust the authorities to handle her.

Victoria: Okay, well then, just trust dad.

Nikki: I– I don’t think you understand how personal this has become for me. I will never truly be free of jordan until I stop her myself. I have to do something. And I need your help.

Did you know…

Chance: I really do hope that jack and victor reconsider and decide to loop in the police ’cause victor’s been known to fly solo in the past, and more than once, it’s turned out more dangerous than it needed to be.

Summer: My grandpa has assured me that the police are gonna have a full report on all of this. Kyle is in denial about the fact that claire is involved. He can’t admit it because then, he will have to face the fact that it’s all his fault. It is!

Chance: I’ll tell you what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna call my buddies. I’m gonna see what I can find out about the investigation, okay?

Summer: Thank you. And, um, I need to get going to the ranch. Hey, actually, will you, um… would you come with me, maybe? Hear what grandpa and jack have planned and weigh in? Maybe you could stop them from doing something that could make this worse.

Chance: I’m gonna tell you right now, I don’t think victor is gonna be interested in my input.

Summer: I– I think that they’ll take all the help that they can get to bring my son home. And if I’m wrong about that, I will insist that they listen to you. I know that you’re not a cop anymore, but you still have the skills and the instincts.

Chance: All right. If you think it’ll help bring harrison home, all right. Let’s do this.

Summer: Thank you.

Chance: Come on.

Kyle: So, how? How do we lure jordan out of hiding and find out where she’s holding harrison at the same time?

Jack: There has to be some way to trace her movements after she abandoned the truck. She had to have had a car waiting.

Kyle: And someone must have seen jordan or claire with a little boy or something.

Michael: All right, we have a team checking security cameras in the area, but nothing yet.

Victor: I don’t think that jordan is doing this all by herself.

Jack: I’m not sure that ally isn’t claire. Look, I don’t know her, but for jordan to have had that kind of influence on her life as recently as last year?

Victor: Jack, with all due respect, I don’t think claire had a damn thing to do with this.

Michael: Either way, though, jordan must be working with other people.

Jack: Like nikki’s ex-sponsor, who agreed to work with her, and look what happened to that poor man.

Victor: What about the guy who sent nikki a drink at society?

Kyle: Okay, all right, I get it. I think it’s worth tracking down jordan’s accomplice.

Michael: Or accomplices.

Jack: And hopefully, they’re not too afraid of jordan to cooperate.

Victor: Trust me, they will cooperate. Everyone has a price.

Victoria: I’m not sure I like where this is going, mom.

Nikki: Darling, please just hear me out. Now, clearly, jordan hates me even more than she hates victor.

Victoria: Are you sure about that?

Nikki: She initially had claire approach me, not your father, to lure me to the lake house. Not him. I’m the one whose veins were flooded with alcohol. I’m the one that was sent the glass of vodka at society. Don’t you see? She doesn’t really want harrison. She wants me. I am her endgame.

Victoria: And everything that you just said makes my case as far as I’m concerned. We need to keep you as far away from jordan as we possibly can.

Nikki: Your father wouldn’t let me offer myself up as bait before. But this time, I’m not asking his permission. This time, I’m going to do it on my own.

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Danny: Is it okay if I ask you a question?

Traci: Of course. Yes, go ahead.

Danny: What is it you’re trying so hard not to talk about?

Ashley: You can make a girl happy with a shot of tequila. And don’t you forget that teeny-weeny slice of lime.

Jack: I imagine jordan is gonna reach out to kyle sometime soon. How do we string her along if she starts making demands?

Victor: She loves theatrics. And this time, I’m gonna pull down the damn curtain once and for all.

Nikki: Come on, jordan. I’m right where you want me.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Exhaling sharply ]

[ Knock on door ] Carly: Jason? Great. You’re here. Okay. I really need your help. There’s a guy downstairs, and — when did you get that? About a year ago. Why? Diane miller to see nina reeves. She is expecting me. Yes, she is. Right this way. Diane miller here to see you. Thank you, madison. Nina, do you have news for me? Smile, diane. I’m going to give you what you want. It would be helpful knowing what you guys have planned for me and my bachelorette party/bridal shower. It’s gonna be fantastic. Don’t you trust us? Absolutely not.

[ Laughs ] Wise girl. Look, you know whatever it is, is gonna be fabulous. And with your mother running the show, it’s gonna be one for the ages. So just sit back, relax, and enjoy your surprise. Speaking of surprises, have I got one for you. Dex is becoming a cop? You sure? Well, I was with trina, and she told me. So, unless she’s mistaken… son of a bitch! He’s gonna go to the cops. He’s gonna tell him everything he knows. Unless I stop him cold. Come in. Thank you for seeing me. Of course. What’s on your mind, josslyn? Dex. I know that he applied for the police academy. Yeah. He took his fitness test today. Okay. You can’t let him into the academy. You have to turn him down. Why? Because if dex becomes a cop, sonny will have him killed.

I’m sure you’ll find everything’s in order. Yes.

[ Door opens ] Drew: Nina. Drew, we’re in the middle of something. So why don’t you leave word with madison, and I’ll get back to you. Excuse me, diane. I need to speak with nina. Well, I have a court date anyway. I’m sure we can pick this up tomorrow, nina. No, no. This is my office, and I can do what I want when I want to do it. So I’m sure drew can wait till we finish our business. Done and done. Excellent. Fully executed. A pleasure doing business with you, nina.

[ Both chuckle ] Drew. What was that all about? Well, my current situation wasn’t working for me, so I made some changes. Wow. I — I mean, I would’ve bet money that you… never got a tattoo. Guess you would’ve lost. Can I see it? Yeah. Why — why did you do it? ‘Cause I was alone. Obviously, I’ve been alone before. You know, and I thought I liked it, but — I don’t know — this time was different because I knew… that I couldn’t come home. So I guess I just wanted something that was mine, you know, something that couldn’t be taken from me or that I couldn’t be forced… to leave behind. Did it hurt? It doesn’t really matter. It took a while. Yeah. [ Chuckles ] You know, I, um… just never let myself think about home. And I would just shut it down. I wouldn’t think about it. There was nothing to do that night but sit there while this guy, joel, worked on me, and…

[Sighs] I guess I broke my own rule. I thought about home. Thought about jake and danny and how tall they were getting, if jake still liked art and if danny still liked football. I thought about sam and elizabeth, and I hoped that they were happy. And I thought about monica. I was just hoping that she was okay. She didn’t grieve for me. By that time, my arm was half done. So that’s when I let myself think about you. Sonny is coming to the wedding. Ah! How’d you manage that? Since he didn’t rsvp, I just assumed he didn’t want to come, and I didn’t want to push since he has all this stuff going on lately. That is where I come in. I push for you. Gently and lovingly, of course. Of course. Mm! Well, good for you, lois. Whatever you did, I am glad that you did it. Uh-huh. Ma, thanks. The wedding just wouldn’t be the same without uncle sonny there. And the bensonhurst brigade will be back together again. Yeah! Oh, wait. So, should we update the seating chart? Do you think uncle sonny’s gonna bring a plus one? I asked, and before he could answer, ava interrupted. I mean, what is up with that one anyway? Sonny better watch out ’cause she’s putting those roots down fast. You don’t think uncle sonny would bring ava as his plus one, do you? I should have taken care of dex when I had a chance, but carly talked me out of it. Why did I have to listen? Then michael hires dex to infiltrate me and spy on me. Michael was definitely wrong. But children do lash out in anger — how much am I supposed to forgive? Carly says michael redeemed himself. My son. He wanted to destroy his father. Then he changes his mind. “No, I don’t want to destroy my father now. I’m gonna hire dex to protect him.” What do I need protection from? Tell me! Michael and carly — they definitely overstepped. Yes! And when carly showed up, I should have, you know, had my men take her to the — to the car — or dragged her to the car, whatever was needed. But she insisted that dex was innocent, to let him go. So that’s what I did. I spared his life and let him go. And now he’s becoming a cop. I don’t know what he’s thinking. I mean, I do have a soft spot for dex. He helped saved my life, but I — he’s crazy to think he can get away with it. I’m done, ava. With all of them.

[ Breathes sharply ] I’m gonna get that divorce with nina. I’m gonna deal with — with dex. But what do I do about michael and carly? Especially jason? I see your concern, josslyn, but you need to calm down, okay? Anna, dex told you about how sonny ordered him to kill cyrus. That reason alone is enough for sonny to kill him. Dex joining the pcpd is the best way for us to keep him safe. Because sonny is hardly going to target a police recruit. No, anna, I’m sorry. You’re wrong. You know how I know? Because last night, sonny had an fbi agent beat up.

I knew you’d be okay without me. Wrong. Come on, carly. You’re tough. “Adaptive and resilient.” Where did that come from? Ah, just something they say on assessments and fitness reports, that if, uh — if you’re adaptive and resilient, you got a better chance of survival. And you’re the most resilient person I’ve ever met. I mean, nothing knocks you down for long. Yeah. Losing you. When I was happy, I didn’t have you to share things with. When I was sad and miserable, you weren’t there to fix it. It’s funny that you had a rule because I had one of my own. You know? You… when I would think, “I can’t do this because jason’s not here,” I would tell myself, “no, you do it for , jason. Jason wouldn’t let you quit.” So, even though you weren’t with me, in a way, you were. You were with me. Come here. I like it. It looks good on you. Thanks. I just needed to finalize some paperwork. For your divorce from sonny? No. You know, why don’t you just say what you needed to say and get out, drew? First I want to hear about your business with diane. What you do on company property affects me. So, if you’re planning some new revenge scheme, you got to keep it away from me. Are you paranoid, drew? That’s why I don’t want to tell you anything. But since you insist, I just sold my half of the metro court to your brother. Yeah, I thought the same thing. Jason’s just gonna turn around and give it to carly. But I have to hand it to her. She didn’t waste any time having jason do her bidding. Yeah, well, a buyer can’t buy without a seller. I’m sure you made a kind of sweet profit on that. Well, my father was in the real estate business. I learned a lot from him. You have to wait till someone really wants your property, and then you make them pay. So much for your loyalty to the metro court. Oh, carly can have the hotel. It brings me one step closer to the real prize. Which is? Getting sonny back. Accusing sonny of targeting a federal agent. That is a serious allegation. I mean, do you have proof to back it up? Anna, I don’t need physical evidence to put two and two together. My mom found agent cates on the ground, beaten up, not far from corinthos coffee warehouse. And it wasn’t a robbery because he had his gun, he had his wallet. So, what does that tell you? I don’t know. Maybe the assailants were interrupted before they could rob him. Oh, come on! You know that’s not true. You know that it was sonny. He’s dangerous. And dex becoming a cop — it’s not protecting him. It’s making him even more of a target. You have to turn him down. Please. Alright, josslyn, I can see how much this means to you. But assuming that dex gets accepted into the academy, ultimately, it is his choice whether he decides to move forward or not, and I believe he understands the risks involved. So you’re not gonna do anything? Really? Oh, josslyn. Okay. But when you throw him some big funeral after sonny has him killed and you invite all of his family, I don’t think that they’re gonna be there, but I will, and I’ll be sitting front row. And when I look at you, we will both know that you could have saved him and you chose not to. So do not hand me the flag from his coffin.

[ Door closes ] Yes. It’s commissioner devane. Can you come to my office? Immediately. It’s important. I understand your anger, sonny. And I’ve been there. Not knowing who you can trust and — and who you can’t, not even sure of the ground beneath your feet. I know it’s tempting to turn your back on everybody that’s failed you. But please tread lightly, okay? Betrayal by family is a tricky thing. And sometimes family is all you got. We’re family — I mean because of avery. That counts, right? Yeah, it does to me. And we’re on each other’s side. And as for michael and carly and — and even jason, up until now, they have been very loyal. No, no, no. That’s wrong. Everything changed when I was in nixon falls. When I came back, the trust was broken. First of all, my wife was married. And I was gone, what, less than six months? Jason supposedly died, and he was gone for over two y–. He couldn’t pick up a phone and say, “hey, you know, I’m alive”? I didn’t know what he was doing. Then he tells me to my face that he’s an informant for the feds. And all I know — that he was on the roof with the guy who shot at me. I have to defend myself. Did you need me to help you with something? You know, it’s okay. I-I don’t — I can handle it. No, carly. The gas has been shut off downstairs, and there’s an obnoxious man from the city downstairs telling me it’s all my fault. I could use some backup. I’ll be right down. Thanks. I can’t wait for him to meet you.

Okay. Here. So, sonny is seated unaccompanied. I purposely did not invite ava, even though she was standing right there. Sonny knows not to bring her. You hope. Sonny can read me like I can read sonny, and he knows not to bring her.

[ Chuckling ] Okay. Sounds like you got it all under control. So, I got to get back to work, unless you need anything else for the bachelorette party. No, go on. Okay. I’ll see you tonight. Yeah! See you!

[ Laughter ] So, this looks good, right? Wow. Have you started packing for the honeymoon? I am narrowing down my choices. I can’t bring half my closet. I have to leave some space for shopping. Yeah! Ma, I’m going to florence!

[ Squeals ] I dreamed about this my entire life. And now I not only get to go — I get to go with the man I love. I mean, how perfect is that? Yeah. Well, it’s — it’s not entirely perfect. Chase did have to sell his truck to pay for it. Which I think was very sweet of him. And noble. I do, too. I very nearly ruined it, though. Thank god tracy stopped me. I’m sorry. Did you just say thank god for tracy? I know I shouldn’t ask, but how does jason buying back the metro court for carly get you closer to sonny? Why, drew, I didn’t know you cared. I don’T. So forget I asked. You do you, nina. I just — I was hoping that sonny would appreciate that I gave my stake up at the metro court so his best friend could have it. Well, good luck with that. That’s it? Yeah, that’s it. What did you come here to talk to me about? Never mind. I’ll shoot you an e-mail. It had to do with the wellness article that you’re running. I’d like to read some of the research, maybe talk to a reporter. I’ll let you know. Mm. The updated revisions are in your inbox. Do you want me to print you hard copies? No, not yet. I want you to contact the hotel manager because I want to know when olivia gets in. I have something very important to discuss with her. Notifications about the essential repairs were sent. I didn’t get a notification, okay? Will you please have my gas turned back on? The repairs will take three days. Your carelessness or disorganization is not the city’s fault. I am not careless or disorganized, and unless you have proof that those notifications were delivered, I have grounds to sue. The city followed policy. Well, I guess we’ll find out when my lawyer subpoenas — mr. Tandy, we know things get lost and misdelivered all the time, but we can’t run a business without gas for three days. Is there anything that you can do to help us out? I’ll speak with the gas company. They may be able to expedite the repairs and get your gas restored by tomorrow. I’ll get right on that. Good day. Thank you. So, what did you need me for? Oh, come on. You’ve been arrested enough times to know how “good cop, bad cop” works. Which cop was I? The good cop.

[ Scoffs ] I understand that it’s difficult for you to trust anybody right now. But isolating yourself from everybody that might care about you — sonny, that could put you at a disadvantage. And who — who might that be, ava? Carly? Michael? The only ones I got left is kristina and dante, and I can’t talk to dante ’cause he’s a cop. And michael, carly, jason, dex, nina… …have all turned on me. I’m not saying that you don’t have the right to feel the way you do. I’m just suggesting that things aren’t always black and white. Carly and michael — I think, in their own warped way, they probably thought they were protecting you. And dex — he put his life on the line for you more than once. I was in puerto rico. I saw it myself. That was before he became a cop, ava. And michael and carly can think whatever they want, but they put a spy — they put a spy in my organization. Well, least you know jason didn’t have anything to do with that. Mm. Based on what? You don’t think carly and jason could be having contact? You don’t believe that. Here’s what I believe — they are loyal to each other. I’ve seen it for years with my own eyes. Carly would lie for him, do anything for him. So, do I believe that she may have had contact with him? Hey, you know what? Of course I believe that. She may have known he was alive, didn’t tell me for months. Maybe even years. That’s unforgivable. (Avo) kate made progress with her mental health… …but her medication caused unintentional movements in her face, hands, and feet cay nourished, at the first sign, call your doctor, stI’m making my own way forward. Thank you for coming. Yeah, of course. What’s going on? You said it was important? It is. In this file, there are two statements. One from cyrus renault, one from dex heller. One details how sonny corinthos viciously assaulted cyrus at all saints chapel on new year’s eve, landing him in hospital. The other details how sonny corinthos ordered his then employee, dex, to kill cyrus when he was a patient at gh.

[ Sighs ] Questions? Yeah, one. Um… I have to ask. What’s changed? I’m sorry? May I speak plainly? Please do. I thought you and sonny were friends. Well, I think we had a friendship of sorts. Mutual understanding, maybe. Mostly because of his relationship with robin. And I think at times perhaps we were on the same side, so to speak, battling a common enemy. That being said, when I was police commissioner before, I gave sonny no passes, and I give him none now. And this case falls in my jurisdiction, and I have to pursue it, even if it implicates someone who has been kind to me in the past. And why show it to me? Why not just go directly to da scorpio? Robert loathes sonny, and I think he would enjoy it too much. That can’t be the reason. In so many words. If robert were to prosecute corinthos, then it’s just too personal for him. Do you see? Well, it’s personal for me, too. You know what you need? Some air. It’s beautiful out. So why don’t we go for a walk? We could even walk across the park and get something to eat.

[ Chuckles ] It’ll do you good. Plus, if you’re seen out and about in public, it’ll let everybody know that, as far as you’re concerned, it’s business as usual. They’re not getting to you. Yeah. I’m not gonna get holed up in this place like I’m trying to hide something. I’m not gonna be a victim. Come on. I’m hungry. Let’s go get something to eat. Nina: That bureaucrat messed up, but he didn’t want to admit it. That’s why I brought you into it. I knew you could get him to compromise without losing face. Or maybe he just didn’t want you to sue him. I would have won, by the way. But I didn’t want to lose three days of business. My way was faster. You’re closed? Ugh! Why? It’s a long story. You here to see jason? No. I’m here to see both of you, actually. Oh. Jason, there you go. Sign, sealed, and delivered. You are now half owner of the metro court. You bought the metro court? Just nina reeves’ half. Now, all that’s left for you to do, both of you sign the transfer of ownership and jason’s half is once again yours, carly. Jason: Thank you, diane. I’ll get it back to you to finalize it. Good job. Carly, very happy for you. You can’t give me the metro court. Why not? Because — because it’s on me to get it back. I’m the one who lost it. I did it all on my own. Drew and michael — they told me not to invest, but I did it anyway. I’m the one that put the metro court up for — whoa, whoa. Okay. Okay. If I had been here, do you think it would have happened that way? No.

[ Crying ]

[ Exhales heavily ] Hey. This deal is done. Enjoy it.

[ Exhaling heavily ]

Explained how me buyingchase a fabulous brand-new truck would just devalue the sacrifice he made in order to pay for the honeymoon. And she would be right, which is surprising for me to say. Well, it was surprising how glad I was to take her advice. It actually prompted chase and I to talk about money, including my trust funds. Ooh. How did that go? Really good, ma. I’m glad we finally did it. It’s actually kind of a relief. And I think we’re in a really good place with it now. Oh, honey. That’s wonderful. I’m so proud of you. I just never wanted to talk to chase about a prenup or my money because I never wanted chase to think that I thought he’d ever take advantage of it or me, you know? Mm-hmm. But the whole “what’s mine his” — that wasn’t working, either. It was actually doing quite the opposite. Anyway, I’m just glad all that stuff is behind us. Oh, well, it’s better late than never, right? You know, some — some people don’t even have those open lines of communication to discuss the important things, you know? So it’s a good sign that you and chase do. What do you think? Can we get a conviction? It’s pretty comprehensive. Someone could definitely make a case for assault, conspiracy, and attempted murder. Someone? I’m giving it to you. Anna, I couldn’t possibly prosecute this case. Why not? Conflict of interest. My sister is sonny corinthos’ daughter. She’s currently pregnant with my child. Oh, god. You should give it to robert. He’ll be aware of the stakes. He’ll do what he needs to do to keep emotion out of it. Or there are other adas who can work with him and give him the objectivity that he needs. Maybe he’ll even assign the case to one of them. Well, I’m not ready to move forward with it just yet. Well, then why did you need to see me? Because I want you to do it, molly. So consider this fair warning that when i am ready to pull the trigger on it, I will be pushing robert to give it to you to prosecute.

[ Indistinct conversations ] Hey, you guys. Hey, olivia. Heard you got a visit from lois this morning. Yeah, she won’t take no for an answer. Does she ever? Not really, but I stopped fighting.

[ Laughs ] How’s dante? He’s good. I talked to him this morning. He’s back at work, grumbling about being behind a desk, so… well, at least he’s healing quickly, right? Yes. Hear, hear. Hi.I-I need to talk to you. It’s very important. One sec. Okay. Yeah. What’s going on? Welcome me back! What are you talking about? I got my half of the metro court back. What? Are you serious! Yes! I’m your partner again. Oh, my god! Oh!

[ Both laughing ]

Sonny is my uncle. He’s my sister’s father. It’s a clear conflict of interest. That’s usually the judge’s call to make. I mean, yes, of course, you know, you can go to the court and inform them of your relationship, but ultimately, it will be the judge’s decision whether you stay on the case or not. Not if I recuse myself first, which I would. Oh, my god. I’m asking you to reconsider. Please, molly. It has taken me a while to recognize the fact that sonny is not the person that I thought he was all these years. And I’m gravely concerned, and I’m disappointed in some of his recent actions. And that is why I want you — because I know you will prosecute him fairly. You won’t seek to make him pay or showboat, nor will you be too lenient. Do you feel that you’ve been too lenient with him all these years? Maybe. And sonny corinthos is a larger-than-life figure in this town. He has been for decades. And he’s a generous benefactor, and, in his own way, he has kept port charles safe from others less scrupulous than he is about the drug trade. And I imagine that most city officials feel that he’s the lesser of two evils, that he is, like, a power to be tolerated and not eliminated. But I — that is over. Because I now have tangible proof of what sonny has become. And, frankly, it’s disturbing. And I am going after him for something that he actually did. And he needs to be stopped. I agree. There’s absolutely a case here, and it needs to be prosecuted. But not by me. There are four other adas in this office who don’t have close ties to sonny. Okay, in a perfect world, every case would be black and white. It would be clear who is right and who is wrong, who the good guys are, and who the bad. But that’s not reality. In reality, most cases, they’re layered, they’re complicated, they’re messy. And that is why we have to adhere to the rule of law. You know, we can’t just decide that we’re going to pick and choose who we’re going to investigate and who we’re going to prosecute. If we start relying on our own personal bias, that’s when the entire system breaks down, we have to do our duty. And it is mine to investigate. And it may well be yours to prosecute. Thank you. Yeah. You know, you’ve never really asked about me and your dad. I don’t know. I guess I just accepted that things didn’t work out between the two of you. I mean, my dad was always present in my life, and you guys were really good at, you know, co-parenting. Yes, and I am very proud about that. You know, ned — he’s a wonderful man. And we loved each other so, so much. We just — [ Sighs ] We just didn’t agree on things like money and, you know, a bunch of other things, which is why I was so adamant about raising you in bensonhurst. You know, I didn’t want you to be around all that quartermaine money and the drama that accompanied it. And it’s a decision I have never regretted. I will forever be grateful for my upbringing, ma. Growing up with the bensonhurst brigade was a gift.

[ Laughing ] Oh, ho! They’re all gonna be there, right? Yeah. Oh, my goodness. And look. See? I seated sonny over here next to kristina and her girlfriend, blaze. And then I put michael on the whole other side of the room because, you know, something’s still going on between michael and sonny and — yeah. Oh, gosh. Hmm? I hadn’t even thought about that. Thought of what? Should we invite jason?

[ Sighs ] Danny? How did this happen? Jason. Nina sold him her half, and he signed it over to me. Honey, this is so fantastic! I have missed you so much. The hotel has missed you so much. Please tell jason “thank you” a million, million, million times!

[ Laughing ] I will! Carly? What? Yeah? Can I have a moment? No. Whatever you need to say, you can just say it. Go. You. Jason. Nina. Three liars. Three traitors. You all deserve each other.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Dad, you can’t just throw a wizard down like that. Why not, almighty grandmaster of this table? Because you’ll need that if I toss an energy card at you. Feels like you’re hustling me. No way! Look, a water with all health steps beats your magic type. Yeah, but wizards are all powerful, so That’s not how the game works.

Come on, Dad! I think calculus is easier than this, you know that? What’s that? I’m not really sure, to be honest with you. You’ll figure it out someday.

Hmm. Why is a wizard in play? You too? Uh, because I don’t know what I’m doing. Thank you. Help me. Please.

Uh, thanks, Kayla, for letting me know. Yeah, I will see you soon. Bye bye. Here you go, honey. So how is our boy Jude doing? He is out like a light. Couple hours anyway, right? Let’s hope so. And Kayla, everything okay? Uh, yeah. Yeah, everybody, uh, was rescued from the cabin. Now they’re all on their way to the hospital.

Good report. And the exposure to radiation? Just a moment. Uh, well, you know, Polina did her very best to distance herself. So it seems like everybody should be okay. I gotta tell you, I can, I can understand why she was compelled to go out there and find her daughter. But if she caused anybody to be sick because of her She’d be feeling a lot of guilt, wouldn’t she?

Yes, she would. Dill, it’s really rough to live with.

Hey, you know where to find state troopers in Montana? Hey, yeah, I was just updating the file now. So they checked the campground where Weston was allegedly sighted, but it was a mistaken identity. They scared a poor, innocent camper to death. Damn it. I thought that was a good lead. I know. It’s extremely frustrating.

But listen, I believe that between Clyde and Goldman, Yeah. One of them will mess up. Okay, I need to update our evidence log for our Vandal case. I’ll be right back. Man.

Commissioner. Hey. Any news on the manhunt? No. And even if there were, I wouldn’t be sharing it with you. Really? I’m sorry, just so I understand, the police commissioner is denying press access to the editor Denying you access. You. So until you do the right thing, and sign the divorce papers and give Jada some peace of mind, you’re not welcome here.

What has you so engrossed, Maggie? Oh, Konstantin, I’m, I’m going over the calendar trying to see a possible wedding date. Oh, I will defer to you on that. Oh, well, we can do it together. Uh, but first I have to contact my lawyer to, uh, to go over any kind of, uh, immigration paperwork that we have to deal with prior to the actual marriage.

I mean, to see if there’s, there’s time to get it completed before your visa expires. Right. Hmm. And I have something to offer you to express my, um, commitment to this arrangement. My, my profound gratitude for your help and, um, Generosity.

Oh my, it was my mother’s. I carry it as a, a aliman. And now I want you to have it

exams through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

Constantine, it’s beautiful. But um,

I can’t accept it.

It’s um, a ring. It’s um, I’m not ready. I’m not ready yet. I hope I haven’t offended you. You could never do that. What if I place this ring on a chain? Would it be acceptable for you to wear it around your neck like that? That would be lovely. Thank you. No, no, no. Thank you for this gift you have given me.

Maggie, though I cannot control what others may think, I hope you know that I will never take advantage of you. I swear on my grave.

I’m Victor.

Yes. Guilt can be very difficult to live with. I know that all too well. But sometimes it can have a very positive effect. Sometimes it can turn things in the right direction. But in your case In my case what? I don’t have any reason to feel guilty? Yeah. I don’t know, Doc. Let me think about this. There is a homicidal maniac out there running loose, and that’s because me and Oh, damn.

I almost forgot. I murdered an innocent young woman. John, please don’t do this. I know, I know, I know. I said I’m working on this. It’s just Such a damn struggle. I’ll

get his bottle. Yeah, he’s waking up. Oh, God. Oh. Oh, honey. Your grandpa John is such a good man. He’s such a fine man. He just, he really deserves some peace of mind. Stephanie! Oh, so glad to see you. Glad to see you too. Can you tell my dad? Oh, it’s that bad, huh? Yeah, that bad. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Ah! Here we go. You need a little spark if you want to stay alive.

Huh? Perfect. Thank you! Uh, you know what, Thomas, I am feeling a little bit hungry. You want to go get a couple chocolate chip cookies for us? Do they have them here? Yes, they’re on the Brady Bump menu now. They get them from Sweet Bits. Then it must be amazing! Yeah. I’ll get three. Sounds great. Thanks, Thomas.

I’ll be right back. Don’t cheat, okay? Don’t cheat? I couldn’t cheat if I tried. Ugh. Card. Yeah, it is. Uh, thank you for coming to my rescue. Oh, are you kidding? I miss playing this game. Yeah, where’d you learn to play? Back in Seattle. My brothers used to play it all the time. Everett taught me.

So, I heard, um, your brother Stefan’s out of jail. He showed up at EJ’s press conference. This morning. What’s going on? I don’t know. You got me. You know, other than reporting on it, I, uh, uh, I’ll do my best to, uh, you know, stay out of all the Demerian sanity. For the sake of my children, more so, and me, but I don’t know.

I don’t know why, why I can’t wait to get back into the Wharton house. Yeah, I want them to identify as Horton’s, even though Abigail’s gone. I’m gonna, uh, find my damnedest to make sure they do. I have nothing to say to you. There are other reporters at The Spectator. Send one of them over and I’ll be happy to comment.

Look, Rafe, I get it, okay? But what happened between Jada and I, It’s personal, alright? It’s a personal matter. So what you’re doing right now, it’s actually an abuse of power. Abuse? Yeah. You want to talk to me about abuse? After what you did to Jada? You lied to her, you cheated on her, you say you don’t even know who she is, and yet you refuse to sign the divorce papers.

What the hell is wrong with you?

What’s wrong with me? Yeah. Honestly? I wish I knew. I wish I knew. Okay, great. Well, if you’re looking for sympathy, you’re sure as hell not gonna find it with me. You treated Jada like crap during your marriage to her, you lied to her, and you cheated on her. And now? Now you insist that she is some kind of stranger, that you have never seen her before, and yet you, you refuse to sign the divorce papers.

Give her a chance so she can get you the hell out of her life. Do you say you don’t know what is wrong with you? I think it’s time to figure it out. Get the hell out of here. You’re done talking? Okay.

Oh, there you go. Well, He looks sleepy enough. Drank the whole bottle. I think you’ll be down for the night. You know, I’m really glad that Eric and Sloane agreed to let us babysit. I am too. Yeah. I love being with that little guy. Plus I, I think it’s important that Eric and Sloane have some time together, just themselves.

Yeah, yeah. So do I. So do I. You know, Doug, maybe I’m overthinking this a little bit, but I kind of got the feeling that Eric was distracted, like, uh, I don’t know, like he’s worried about something. Oh. Well, you’re not overthinking it. Eric confided to me that, um, they’re having some financial problems. Really?

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they’ve got a lot of expenses. Plus Eric’s photography business hasn’t quite taken off yet. There’s no problem with that. Maybe we can help them out a little bit. Yeah. Well, no, I don’t, I don’t think they’d let us do that, but we could help by spreading the word about his photography business and, and babysitting whenever they want.

And just generally telling Eric we’re proud of him.

Down for the night, huh? Yeah, well, I can be wrong. Yes, but also, rarely. I’ll get him. Thank you.

I’m glad I was able to find the chain. As am I. I am honored that you are now wearing the ring. Even if not on your finger. I was very generous of you to give it to me. At least, uh, I’m wearing it. I mean, especially since Since? Well, you know, since I mean so much to you and, and your mom, and as I said, I also feel like I owe it to you.

And by wearing the ring, I know it doesn’t make up for, for all that you’ve suffered because of Victor. It should not be your burden to make up for anything, Maggie. You are not responsible for what Victor did. I know that. But he’s not here to make amends. So I feel like I represent him. And, uh, no, nothing can ever take away or even lessen the pain of the loss of your precious daughter.

I can at least Help you stay in this country. Country you’ve come to enjoy. What I enjoy most is being with you. Your company. You’ve always livened my spirits. And you live on mine too. Well, that’s why I’m not willing to say goodbye to you.

You play this one. Thomas will win. Good. He loves beating me. I’m sure he does. I don’t know when he got so big. Blanket grows an inch. Well, he’s definitely taller than the last time I saw him. And he’s still such a sweetheart. Yeah, he’s a good kid. How’s it going at the Kiriakis house? Good, you know, bless Maggie for taking us all in, but it feels a bit like Grand Central Station.

Yeah, it’s a huge house, but Just feels like we’re all on top of each other. Oh, that’s a shame. Yeah. I feel especially bad for, uh, for Julie. You know, she wanted to escape the chaos and got stuck in a snowstorm on Smith Island. Oh, no. Yeah. The weather’s been crazy here. Well, weather’s been crazy everywhere lately.

It’s true. Here. I got three big ones. Amazing. Wow. Great. Thank you. Yeah, Stephanie and I were just talking about the weather. All the, uh, all the snow that Smith Island got. Mm hmm. Sounds weird, right? Oh, yeah. It was. Yeah, I know. We were, uh, we had plans to go to the playground, but, uh, it didn’t happen. Instead, we had to play countless games of hide and seek to try to wear this one out.

And I never got tired. Nope, you don’t even know the meaning of that word, Thomas DeMera. Wanna come over to the Jiriakas house sometime and play with us? You can help dad beat me. Oh, oh, well, sure. I would love to come and play with you. Great. What about tomorrow? Well, I think that might work. Okay. Okay,

I’m sorry if I overstepped, okay? It’s just It’s that guy, okay? I I just hate what he’s doing to you, and when I see him You’re a little crazy. Don’t apologize. I was actually going to thank you for defending my honor. Oh. Okay, well, in that case, I made it very clear that he is not welcome here until he signs those damn divorce papers.

And I appreciate that. I do. But, you know, I just, I’ve been thinking, like, Maybe I ought to just chill out about the papers. I mean, maybe Bobby will come around if we just stop pushing him, you know? And besides, it’s not like I’m in a rush to get married again. At least not yet. When you proposed to me, I must admit I was somewhat thrown.

It is usually the man that gets down on one knee, right? Well, I’m not sure that’s the custom anymore. Things have changed. I bet you and Victor had a big wedding, right? No, not a big wedding. It was here, in his house. It was very simple. Very much like my first wedding to Mickey. You know, you never talk about your wedding or your former wife.

Well, there is not much to say, actually. We, uh, we got married. We lost Katarina. We got divorced. I never saw her again. She disappeared.

That part of my life is the last thing I want to talk about.

Everett. Hi. Hey. Hey, uh, John. Hey, Thomas. Hi, Everett. Hi. Uh, how did it go at the police station? Dad, you promised! A word talk! I just got one follow up question, okay? And then we’re done. Why don’t you, um, why don’t you finish packing up? But we didn’t eat our cookies yet. Yeah, we’re gonna let, we’re gonna let Stephanie Everett have the cookies and, uh, we’ll stop at Sweet Bits on the way home and we’ll get a whole bunch of them.

Okay, sure. Um, so, did you get what you needed? Uh, I mean, there was nothing super exciting on the lot or just a, just a Graffiti fancies himself an artist and, um, Semi unproductive run in with the commissioner. Alright, well, you know, you’re not gonna get the headline worthy material every time. So, uh, you know, it was worth checking out.

Yeah, true, true. Good. Are you ready? Okay. Good night, Thomas. It was so great to see you. Good to see you, too. And you’re coming tomorrow, right? Well, uh We’ll have to see. Your dad and I will, we’ll check our schedules and, if not tomorrow, sometime really soon, okay? Okay. But I hope it’s tomorrow. Okay, see ya.

Let’s go, little man. See ya, Thomas. So, um, Care to share these cookies with me? I could use the company.

Yep, so could I. So,

how’s therapy with Marlena going?

Would you be comfortable having another hypnosis session and see if we can’t get to the bottom of some of these things? I’m sorry, uh, no. No more, no more hypnosis. No more, uh, digging. I don’t want to, I don’t, I, Some things are better left unknown. Excuse me.

Hypnosis is, is, is good. I think it’s, it’s really helpful. Um, and Dr. Evans really wants me to continue with it. And will you? Honestly, uh, I’m not sure. I see. And have you, have you talked to her about why you don’t feel comfortable signing those divorce papers? Yeah. I have, um, She has this theory that, uh, My subconscious is Hiding Feelings that I’m not ready to handle.

Feelings for Jada? Yeah, but I I’m certain that is not the case. Right. Well, I know Jada’s going through a lot herself, and so I really wish, for her sake and yours, you’ll sign those papers and set her free. Set yourself free, too.

I am sorry, Maggie, if I upset you. For not wanting to talk about your ex wife? Why would I be upset? I mean, it’s obviously triggering you. You know, there’s a lot of topics I prefer to avoid myself. But one I’m very comfortable talking about. My career. And I’m very pleased to say I’m returning to Titan. Oh, that is wonderful news.

You will be working with Alex then? Yes, I will. And I think we’re going to get along very well. If you will excuse me, I’m going to ask Cook, uh, if he has any more of those lemon bars left. Would you like some? Uh, that is, if the kids haven’t eaten them all. I would love some. Okay.

Where’s that damn thing?

Hey, Constantine. What’s up? I lost something that is very important to me. I could have sworn it was in my room, but it is not there. I am afraid it is lost.

Thomas? Do you know anything about that?

Jade, I didn’t think that you wanted those divorce papers signed so that you could marry again. I just I thought that you wanted them signed so you could get rid of Bobby Stein, this guy who has hurt you so badly. Well, yeah, that is true, obviously. I understand. It’s definitely premature to be talking about marriage.

Listen, I’m not trying to rush you into anything, okay? I just Hey, I just want you to be happy, okay? That’s all. I know. And you make me happy, right? I am very grateful for you. I feel the same way about you. I do. But, if I did have one complaint, it would be, yeah, I know, we don’t get to spend enough time together.

What? Yeah. Okay, we work together and we practically live together. Well, practically, right, but, I don’t know, that’s, I hate to say it, but it’s not enough. Oh, no? Mm. Because I love spending time with you. I do. I mean, I want to go to sleep next to you, and I want to wake up next to you, and I want to make breakfast with you, and water the plants, all of it.

Okay. Okay. But how would we do all of that together all the time? Right. Exactly. See, that’s it. That’s a good question. I think the only way that we could possibly do it is if we were to live together. But I already asked you if you wanted to move in with me, and I’m not really great with rejection. So, I am not going to ask you again.

Okay. Well, I think that you should breathe it out and ask again. I mean, you gotta take risks in life, right? And you know that expression, if at first you don’t succeed.

I understand why it would be so much easier if I just signed those papers. Believe me, I I want to. I think part of me is just afraid that if I do, I don’t know. But I see your point. Oh. Hello, Everett. Hi, Dr. Evans. Oh, you must be babysitting with a dude, huh? We are indeed. He should be asleep by now, but what are you gonna do?

So we thought we’d take him for a little stroll. Well, it is a nice night. Yes, it is. I’m gonna get some coffee, I’ll get you some tea. Would you two care for anything? I, I’m good. I’m good. Yeah, I’m good, too. Thanks.

How are you, Stephanie? I’m okay. I’m grateful that you’re helping Everett with his memory loss. We were just talking about your hypnosis therapy. I hope he continues. Alright, sweetheart, I got a little tea for you. Shall we take a seat? Excuse us. Well, I guess I should get going. Steph, um, would you come back with me to the Salem Inn?

Right now, there’s, there’s something I want to show you. Um, Okay, I have a work call in 30 minutes. It’ll be quick, I promise. Okay, then.

It was good to see you, John, Marlena. It was good to see you too, also. Have a good evening, okay? I love you. Okay.

I don’t understand. Why would you ask your son anything about the item I misplaced?

Um, we were playing hide and go seek and um, and I found Thomas in your room. I’m sorry. Thomas, did you move anything or take anything from his room? No, dad. Because if you did, now would be a very good time to return it. Dad, I didn’t. Okay. You’re sure? I am. Look, I’m, I’m sorry my son went in your room. But you have my word it won’t happen again.

And there’s no trouble whatsoever, Amit. Boys will be boys. Yes, they will. Um, which reminds me, I gotta go get your backpacks. I think there’s a permission slip in there I need to sign for your field trip next week. I’ll get it. No, it’s okay, I’ll get it. Why don’t you set up the card game for the final round?

Okay. Okay.

Before you set up that game, you and I have to have a little chat, Thomas. About my card. I have a feeling you took it.

You know, your father would be very angry with you if you lied. But if you return that card to me, right now, And promise to never go in my room again. He will never know.

So, what will it be? Thomas?

Everything’s going great. Yeah. He’s a little angel. He’s behaving himself beautifully. You know, you and Thomas are just Relax and enjoy yourselves.

Hey, hey, you know, now that baseball season is in full swing, I was kind of wondering, are you gonna be a Cubs fan or a White Sox fan? Why, you might ask? Well, I’ll tell you why. Because the Windy City has two ball clubs to root for. Yay! And as soon as you’re old enough to sit up and eat a hot dog, you and I are going to a ballgame, kid, and I can’t wait to do that.

Yep, you and I are gonna hang out at the ballpark together. That’s a fact. Well, I see you got him calmed down. I think he’d be doing me a favor. I’m telling you, Doc, holding this little squirt in my arms here, it just It’s hard to imagine there’s anything wrong in the world when you’re looking into the eyes of a smiling little baby.

It’s true. Life’s short, I don’t want to waste any more time feeling guilty, tearing myself down. Especially when I’ve got so much to be grateful for.

It’s in here, I promise. I trust you are telling me the truth. It would be very bad if that card were lost. Here it is. I found it. Thank you. Now you can go.

It is almost time to get what is rightfully mine.

So you think I should ask you again, huh? Well, like I said earlier, just because I turned you down the first time, I don’t know, maybe I see things differently now. Oh, differently? Differently how? Well, if I can be serious for a moment. Okay.

My failed marriage, you know, which you now know way more than I’m sure you wanted to. And before that, there was Eric, which also ended very badly, as you know as well, and they were just, they were just disasters, both of them. And I don’t know, it just, it just really got me kind of cynical, you know, about, about relationships in general.

And I just viewed relationships that they just, I don’t know, like men couldn’t be trusted. I just couldn’t trust them, and I don’t know, then you came along. And you’ve really proved me wrong. Wow. Yeah. Because you are such a sweet person. And you are loyal. And you’re honest and you’re kind. And you are sexy.

And I’m just so lucky to have you. You, Ray Fernandez, You’re my person.

And I think you should ask me again. To you. Uh huh. Alright. Jada Hunter. Yeah. Jada. The sweetest girl I’ve ever met. Who also is sweet and kind and loyal and sexy.

You want to move in with me?

Yes, I do. Yes, I do. Yes, I do.

This is what I wanted to show you.

You divorce papers? I don’t understand. I don’t know what, if anything, is next for you and me, Steph. But you made me realize that if there’s any chance for us, To be something. I have to clean the slate.

Did you witness this for me? Of course.

Uh huh.

Previously on When Calls the Heart I wonder what it says. We’re going to teach you to read braille. Oh, I’m so sorry. My fault. I know when someone’s up to no good. You should accept this fellowship. Faith, are you leaving Hope Valley? Life is more fun than surprises. I don’t, I don’t feel very well.

The night seems as restless as ever. While we await word of Ned Yost’s condition after his collapse.

Tea. With lemon and honey.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

[ Upbeat music ]

Deacon: Answer me, lauren. What do you know about sugar? Does that name mean anything to you? Sheila was texting with her before she went to steffy’S. Lauren, answer me! Who the hell is sugar?

[ Knock on door ]

Finn: Oh, hey.

Hope: Uh, did I catch you at a bad time?

Finn: No, no, no. I just, um, I just got back from a swim, actually.

Hope: Oh, well, funny you should say that. Speaking of, kelly’s goggles.

Finn: Oh, nice. She forgot these, huh?

Hope: Yeah, and I just– you know, things are still a little tense with steffy at work and I just happened to be driving by, so…

Finn: Hm.

Hope: Plus, I just– I wanted to check on you and see how you were doing after…

Finn: You know deacon’s eccentric and quirky?

Steffy: Yeah, clearly. He dated sheila.

Finn: Right, well, now you can add paranoid and delusional to the list. Because get this. Deacon is questioning whether or not sheila is actually dead.

Steffy: What?

Finn: Deacon’s convinced himself sheila may still be alive.

[ Knock on door ]

Liam: Yo, steffy.

Steffy: Liam, hi. What?

Liam: Good, she is alive.

Steffy: What?

Liam: Well, I’ve texted you, like, four times.

Steffy: Oh, you did? Oh. Oh, my phone’s on silent. God, for a second I– I thought you meant, um…

Liam: Meant what? Hey, are you okay? What’s going on with you?

Finn: Yeah, well I appreciate you checking in on me. Especially when I know you’re not a fan of sheila’S.

Hope: Well, even though i might not exactly be sad about sheila’s death, I– I can still be sympathetic to you. I know you’re going through a lot. She’s still your birth mother and, uh, how it all happened is…

Finn: I mean, has it been easy? No. But sheila only had herself to blame.

Hope: Well, when she was alive, she certainly posed a threat to your marriage. She put a strain on it.

Finn: Yeah, wondering if and when she would snap again. And, well, she finally did.

Hope: Well, I guess maybe that’s the silver lining, then? You and steffy, you don’t ever have to worry about sheila carter ever again.

Steffy: Actually, you’re here for the meeting, right? How did it go with the ad budget?

Liam: Yes. Yeah, uh… no, carter and I, we hammered it all out. We even talked about online presence and it’s good. It’s all good. I just figured I’d pop in to update you after. But, uh, clearly, it’s not a great time.

[ Steffy sighs ]

Steffy: You know, just when you think you’re able to, like, move on, close a chapter, some idiot just chimes in and yanks you back to where you were.

Liam: Ooh. Who’s the idiot?

Steffy: Deacon. I think you know how hard this has been. And I’m still just trying to process killing someone. You know, my husband’s biological mother, and I’m really trying to come to terms with that. But it’s, uh–

Liam: And deacon is interfering with that process? Or…

Steffy: Deacon thinks… deacon thinks sheila still may be alive.

Deacon: How did sheila know this sugar person? Lauren, tell me, please! You know exactly who she is.

Lauren: The sugar that I know couldn’t possibly be texting sheila. Or anyone else, for that matter. Because she’s in jail.

Deacon: Why?

Lauren: That is ancient history. And you know what? I do not want to talk about sheila or sugar ever again. And I strongly advise you to forget about sheila and anyone that she could be texting.

Deacon: Wait, lauren, please. I’m sorry. Look, I can see this is upsetting you. I am not trying to stress you out here with bad memories, but I’ve got serious reason to believe that sheila is still alive, as crazy as that might sound.

Lauren: It is extremely crazy, and I’m not listening to it.

Deacon: Please, lauren. No one has history with sheila like you. You may be the one person who can help me figure this out.

Lauren: Oh, because I’m the resident sheila expert? How I hate that title. And I hate knowing what I know about that psychopath!

Deacon: You might not know everything. There’s something sheila did, it was an act of desperation. Something she did recently to stay out of jail. To stay alive. Sheila has nine toes.

Lauren: Yes, I know she cut one off. So, what does some fake bear attack have anything to do with sheila being dead? My celebrity colorist?

Hope: Wait, wait, wait. What– what, um… so, are you– are you seriously telling me that–

Finn: Yeah. Yeah, and your dad is convinced. And like this was seconds before the body was engulfed in flames. And so, there’s no way for him to actually confirm how many toes were on the body.

Hope: Well, then, I mean, obviously, he’s mistaken.

Finn: Obviously.

Hope: Yeah, I mean, there’s no way that he could be… no. No. No. Like sheila, she came here that night. She tried to attack steffy. Steffy had to defend herself, so I don’t know what my dad thinks he saw, but, uh, clearly, he’s wrong. I mean, we all know the person that steffy killed that night was sheila.

Steffy: It is ridiculous that deacon’s telling people this.

Liam: So, like, what’s going on? I mean, is he just losing his mind or something?

Steffy: The man lost his mind when he fell for sheila.

Liam: Uh, that’s fair. But it is weird, right? Like, ’cause he knows exactly what happened. Sheila broke into your place, and she refused to leave, and she came after you, and you–

Steffy: I stabbed her. In self-defense. Deacon knows exactly what went down. Sheila died in my house. There’s no questioning that.

Liam: Well, clearly, in deacon’s mind, there is questioning. Because, uh, apparently he thinks he saw ten toes.

[ Steffy sighs ]

Steffy: Okay, liam, there could be so many explanations.

Liam: I–

Steffy: One being, he saw wrong. He was stressed out in the moment, he saw her body go in, and– I mean, can you really trust your eyes in that situation? Like, deacon is wrong. He is dead wrong. And I say that literally, because I know sheila’s not alive.

Lauren: Sheila faked her own death. Doesn’t that show you how truly insane she was?

Deacon: Or maybe still is. Insane enough to cheat death again. Look, I went to the crematorium, okay? I didn’t want her to be alone.

Lauren: Faithful and misled ’til the very end.

Deacon: It was important to me, all right? I wanted to be by her side one last time. Just to say goodbye. And so I pulled the sheet back to look at her beautiful face, and I said goodbye.

Lauren: I’m sure it was a very special moment for you. Now I need to–

Deacon: Wait, wait, listen. Just as she was about to go into the flames, the sheet fell, exposing her feet. And that’s when I saw it, lauren. I saw ten toes.

Lauren: It’s not possible sheila cut one off.

Deacon: No, it isn’t possible, is it? Because the body that i mourned, the one that I had a– a service for, that wasn’t sheila.

Lauren: Deacon, you’ve got to stop doing this. The body was identified. You saw her.

Deacon: Yes, yes. Once at the morgue, and like I’m trying to tell you, right before she went into the cremator.

Lauren: Then how can you even question that sheila’s alive?

Deacon: The ten toes!

Lauren: You must’ve been seeing things.

Deacon: Don’t you think that I’ve been wondering that too? I’ve been playing this back in my mind again and again. Lauren, I thought I was going insane. I’m telling you, I saw ten toes. That was not sheila.

Lauren: Oh, my god.

Deacon: What?

Lauren: Sugar. When my doctor gave me breztri for my copd

Hope: Okay, well, now I’m– I’m certainly more concerned about my dad if he’s having these delusions.

Finn: Look, I think it’s– I think it’s all part of the grieving process. At least that’s what I tried to tell him. I mean, the power of grief can take the mind to some odd places, sometimes. And this is the way his mind is choosing to cope with the loss.

Hope: By hoping that he hasn’t lost her at all. Is that what you’re trying to say? That he’s just telling himself that he saw what he saw in order to keep some shred of sheila alive?

Steffy: Look, if deacon wants to believe that sheila is alive, fine, but he needs to keep it to himself.

Liam: Yeah, I mean, is he actually going around telling people this?

Steffy: Yes!

Liam: Oof.

Steffy: And it’s so annoying! And it’s really disturbing. I mean, we are all just trying to move on with our lives.

Liam: We all have moved on with our lives, except deacon. I mean, clearly he’s just stuck on it.

Steffy: He’s enamored with sheila. He can’t let her go. He can’t accept that she is gone. I mean, when I think about everything that woman has done to us, just– it’s just–

Liam: Yeah, I mean, I get it. The last thing you need right now is somebody just gaslighting you into thinking she’s still alive.

Deacon: Okay, um, just tell me what you know about sugar.

Lauren: I’ve tried so, so hard to get her out of my mind. It was, uh, so long ago.

Deacon: So, you do know her? Is she from genoa city?

Lauren: Los angeles. Sheila met her in prison.

Deacon: What, was she like her cellmate or something?

Lauren: She was her warden. And it wasn’t long until sheila worked her magic and convinced sugar to help her escape.

Deacon: Oh, my god.

Lauren: And that’s when they resurfaced in genoa city.

Deacon: So sheila and sugar, they were pretty tight-knit. Sheila never said a word about that.

Lauren: Tight? They were one and the same.

Deacon: One and the same?

Lauren: Sheila was in the mental ward, where she belonged. And I went to go see her because I had to make sure it was her for my own peace of mind.

Deacon: Okay, wait, wait. So, what does this have to do with sugar?

Lauren: Everything, deacon. Everything.

Deacon: How? I– I don’t get it. Make me understand.

Lauren: Okay, stop asking questions and start listening. Because you are gonna be as blown away as I was.

Hope: My poor dad. I wish he could just let sheila go instead of trying to convince himself that, what, she’s out there somewhere? I mean, who– who does he think they cremated, then?

Finn: I don’t know. But your father obviously loved sheila very much. You know, there was one thing that he asked me when he was trying to convince me that sheila was still alive.

Hope: What?

Finn: He asked me if part of me still wishes my birth mother was still alive.

Hope: What did you say to that?

Finn: I told him it doesn’t matter how I feel. My birth mother’s gone. Sheila carter’s dead.

Liam: Well, look, deacon’s obviously wrong about this. And if anybody knows that, it’s you.

Steffy: Right. What’s more plausible here? Either deacon didn’t see the toes correctly, or I, I don’t know, I just killed a stranger in my house and told everyone that it’s sheila.

Liam: Also, not to mention, there was a full-on investigation, right? Like, they identified the body. What– what’s he got to say about that?

Steffy: I don’t know. He’s just not living in this reality. I think he’d be saying things differently if he were in my shoes.

[ Steffy gasps ]

Steffy: Sheila, I know it’s you. You stay– you stay away from me. You stay the hell away from me. Get out.

Sheila: No!

Steffy: I’m never gonna forget it. It still haunts me. But deacon is wrong. I killed sheila. She’s dead and gone and she’s never coming back.

Deacon: Figured you for a whiskey gal. So, sheila was in the nut house.

Lauren: For the criminally insane. Or so I thought.

Deacon: Wait, thought? What do you mean thought? Either she was or she wasn’T.

Lauren: Okay, just listen. It will all start to make sense. A few months later, sheila and I were stuck in this–

Deacon: Wait, stuck?

Lauren: Oh, long story. The point is, all that time, I thought she was locked up. And then, I learned…

Sheila: That wasn’t me in the mental institution.

Lauren: But I saw your face.

Sheila: Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase extreme makeover, doesn’t it?

Lauren: Who was it?

Sheila: Very good friend of mine, sugar.

Lauren: Sugar? Who’s that?

Sheila: She was my warden. I convinced her that I was being treated unjustly and she helped me escape.

Lauren: Treated unjustly? After all the horrible things–

Sheila: Do you wanna hear this or not?

Sheila: We– we fled down to south america and that is where sugar sacrificed her face for the cause.

Lauren: How’d you get her to do it?

Sheila: She thought she was going in for a little lift.

Lauren: But instead she came out looking just like you.

Sheila: Well, fortunately, the plastic surgeons down in south america, they’re not quite as honest as the ones up here, lauren.

Lauren: So, you bribed them?

Sheila: Everyone lived happily ever after. Except for sugar. She took my place in hemet.

Lauren: I’m sure she told them she wasn’t you.

Sheila: She’s in a mental institution for the criminally insane. She tells people she’s not sheila carter and they think she’s delusional.

Lauren: My god.

Deacon: What are you telling me, lauren?

Lauren: That there’s someone out there that looks exactly like sheila. Someone with ten toes.

Deacon: Sugar. I was right. It wasn’t sheila that got cremated. She’s– she’s alive. My god, sheila’s alive.

Luna: Here’s a look ahead. I broke his heart.

Brooke: She is not to blame. It was her mother’s drugs.

Finn: You have me thinking.

Deacon: Good, ’cause I’m right. We need to find her right now.

Steffy: Deacon is an idiot if he actually thinks that sheila’s alive.

Deacon: You recognize her, don’t you?

Ava packs the last of her things at the apartment while Tripp says he still doesn’t understand why she’s moving out. Wendy comes to the door and listens in as Ava tells Tripp that she already told him why but Tripp says he doesn’t buy it and wants the real reason. Tripp asks what kind of trouble she’s in now.

Stefan joins EJ in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. Stefan calls it a wonderful day to be alive as EJ pours a drink. Stefan says he’s going to have Harold get the finest bottle of champagne they have. EJ asks what the occasion is. Stefan responds that he just visited Gabi in prison and he’s feeling optimistic about the future. EJ calls them two criminals. Stefan says EJ won’t bring him down today as he has a new lease on life. Kristen comes in and questions Stefan not being in jail.

Alex works at the Titan office as Theresa enters and asks him to tell her it’s not true. Alex responds that he’s afraid it is. Theresa questions what happened. Alex tells her that Green Industries pulled out of the issue. Theresa complains that they were their biggest advertiser and she worked so hard to turn things around. Alex says he appreciates everything she’s done here but the numbers do not lie and Bella Magazine is failing again. Theresa argues that there has to be something they can do like get a new advertiser. Alex says it’s too late and announces there’s not going to be another issue. Alex hates to say it but he thinks they have to pull the plug on Bella today.

Maggie proposes to Konstantin. Konstantin responds that he is speechless and calls that very unusual for him. Maggie says she just wants to help and she’s not ready for him to leave Salem. Konstantin says he’s so grateful to her and to the universe for bringing them together. Konstantin says he’s touched but he cannot accept her proposal.

Wendy enters the apartment and greets Ava and Tripp. Ava is glad she gets to see her before she goes. Wendy asks if everything is okay. Tripp responds that he’s concerned about his mom and wants to make sure that she’s leaving for the right reasons. Ava promises that she’s not in trouble and that moving has nothing to do with them since they have been wonderful to her. Ava says that she’s moving in with Harris like they are taking their relationship to the next level. Ava adds that she’ll just be down at the Brady Pub so they will still see each other all the time. Ava tells Tripp to stop worrying and insists that it’s best for everyone. Ava then takes her box and exits.

Stefan asks Kristen if EJ didn’t tell her that he cut a deal to keep him out of prison and he was just about to return all of his possessions. EJ points out that’s half of his possessions. Kristen questions why she’s the last person to know what’s going on around here. Kristen asks Stefan if he means their possessions before he stole them from them. Stefan argues that he and Gabi staged a very lawful takeover of their family corporation. Kristen asks what is actually going on here. Stefan suggests she ask EJ, so she asks EJ what he’s up to now.

Theresa asks Alex not to pull the plug on Bella and give them a chance. Alex says it’s not going to happen as he spoke to the client for over an hour and they don’t believe Bella will make the money, so they pulled funding and there’s nothing more they can do. Theresa declares that it’s their loss because she will find an even better multi-national client. Alex tells her that’s not going to happen. Alex says he’s gone over the numbers and it’s not feasible as they are spending more publishing Bella than it’s possible to make. Alex thinks it’s best to take it down before it gets worse. Theresa questions if there’s no changing his mind. Alex says he wanted it to be a success story too but he thinks it’s best to take their losses and move on. Theresa says she gets it. Alex encourages that it’s not the end of the world as he will get her another job. Theresa tells him not to bother as she quits.

Maggie questions Konstantin not accepting her proposal. Konstantin says he wouldn’t want to put her in an uncomfortable position with her family and friends. Maggie argues that if they don’t approve, that’s their problem. Maggie acknowledges it would be a marriage in name only but for all that he suffered because of Victor, she wants to make amends on his behalf. Maggie believes marrying him is the right thing to do and says to hell with anyone who disagrees. Konstantin repeats being grateful for her and says he can accept being a marriage in name only because he would never ask more of her than she’s ready to give. Konstantin then accepts her proposal and they shake hands.

Wendy sits with Tripp and notes that he’s awfully quiet. Tripp says he’s just thinking. Wendy guesses he’s worrying about his mom. Tripp confirms that he is worried between Stefan leaving Ava out of his confession and her sudden moving out, he knows something is up. Wendy questions what it could be, pointing out that she quit the Bistro. Tripp talks about thinking Ava is on the straight and narrow and then it blows up in his face. Wendy says at least Ava won’t be on the side of the highway since she’s moving in with an ex-Navy SEAL and current police officer, so she might be safer living with Harris. Tripp hopes so but says that’s enough about his mom. Tripp asks Wendy about her first day back at work. Wendy responds that it was terrible.

Ava meets Harris for drinks at the Brady Pub. Ava jokes about relaxing after hauling all of her stuff up to his room. Harris tells Ava that they fit together perfectly and kisses her. Harris toasts to fresh starts.

EJ tells Kristen that he doesn’t owe her an explanation. Kristen argues that she’s just as much of a DiMera but EJ disagrees. Kristen says they may not share the same DNA but she’s every bit of a DiMera as he is. Kristen guesses that since EJ got Stefan out of prison, EJ got a great payment. EJ informs Stefan that their public relations department will be issuing a statement from Stefan, resigning the company because of his failings. Stefan asks if EJ has it all figured it out, thinking he buries his reputation and EJ will come out smelling like roses. EJ jokes that Stefan could restore his reputation by doing volunteer work or finally figuring out what to do with the Bistro with all the damage control that he’ll have to do. EJ adds that Ava sent an e-mail that she quit even though it’s been closed for weeks. EJ wishes Stefan and Kristen luck as he then exits.

Alex questions why Theresa would quit, arguing that it’s not her fault but his since he resurrected Bella Magazine to make a point to Maggie that he knew better than she did. Alex adds that he also wanted to make Victor proud since the magazine was named after his daughter Isabella. Alex supposes he wanted to feel closer to Victor’s memory. Alex feels he gave Theresa an impossible task. Theresa appreciates him falling on the sword like that but feels she could’ve done more. Theresa says she was just so distracted with Tate and feels she was just a charity hire. Alex disagrees but Theresa says she was struggling even when she was coming to work. Alex says she just had growing pains but she also had great ideas and everybody here loves her. Theresa repeats that she appreciates it, but she thinks it’s better for everyone if she just finds a fresh start somewhere else. Theresa then exits the office.

Maggie and Konstantin decide they are officially engaged. Konstantin says words can’t express what this means to him. Maggie is just glad she can help and says maybe in some small way, it can make up for what his rivalry with Victor cost him. Konstantin says that was not his responsibility but he is grateful. Maggie says she will talk to her lawyers about how to proceed and getting the necessary forms. Maggie asks to keep this between them which he agrees to and thanks her. Maggie then exits the room. Konstantin remarks to himself that all the pieces are falling right in to place for him to get exactly what he deserves, if he can only find that damn card.

Tripp asks Wendy what’s going on. Wendy thought it would be a good distraction to be back in the office, but says it was a total mess as she was completely useless and was obsessed with trying to find a lead on Clyde but it was a waste of time. Wendy talks about thinking if she dug deep enough, she’d find something but she found nothing. Tripp thinks she’s being hard on herself since it’s her first day back at work. Wendy had a fantasy of being back at the top of her game but says every road she went down were dead ends. Wendy adds that she passed by Goldman’s desk and it would give her flashbacks. Wendy apologizes as she gets emotional. Tripp says she has nothing to be sorry for and he’s sorry that she had a terrible day. Tripp suggests maybe she went back to work too soon. Tripp encourages Wendy to sit back and relax now. Tripp understands her anxiety after being held captive. Tripp suggests maybe it would help if she talked to a professional.

Harris asks if Ava doesn’t want to toast to fresh starts. Ava appreciates his vote of confidence but she doesn’t feel like there’s going to be a fresh start until she finishes this last task for Clyde. Harris asks what they are waiting for then and suggests they go get the book. Harris says they will get the book, hand it back to Clyde and that’s when they will capture him and put him behind bars so he’ll finally be out of their lives for good.

Maggie sits in the living room and looks at her and Victor’s wedding photo. Maggie says that she hopes she’s doing the right thing. Theresa enters, so Maggie greets her and says she’s always happy to see her. Maggie asks if everything is okay but Theresa cries that it’s not and she thought she could burden Maggie with it since she is her sponsor. Maggie says she is never a burden and offers to sit down and talk about it. Theresa informs Maggie that she and Alex have decided so shut down Bella Magazine. Maggie says she’s sorry to hear that but it’s not a surprise since it hasn’t been doing well. Theresa cries that she feels like a total failure. Maggie argues that the magazine was doomed from the start and she tried to tell Alex over and over again. Maggie encourages that Theresa did good work and she’s certain that Alex will find another job at Titan. Theresa complains that she doesn’t want another job at Titan and that she told Alex she quits because she doesn’t belong there. Theresa says she was never qualified with no experience and calls herself a charity hire again. Maggie stops her and disagrees, pointing out that she ran the magazine before. Theresa says it still wasn’t successful back then. Theresa states that she only got the job because she pushed herself on Alex. Maggie tells her that she can’t make a man fall in love with her and that Alex did that all on his own. Theresa responds that now she’s blown that too. Theresa thought everything was coming together and she would be rich, successful, and happy but it turns out that she’s just a pretender. Maggie hugs her and encourages that she’s capable, smart, and driven so she has everything going for her. Maggie feels this is all on Alex since Bella was a sinking ship from the start. Maggie says she will have a chat with Alex but Theresa says she doesn’t need to. Maggie says after she talks to Alex, she’ll see Theresa at the meeting tonight. Maggie tells Theresa that everything is going to be fine as she then exits. Konstantin then enters and asks Theresa for a word.

Tripp asks Wendy what she’s thinking. Wendy says she was thinking about what Tripp said about Ava always finding trouble. Wendy worries that if Ava finds trouble again, she can’t deal with getting caught in the crossfire. Tripp says he couldn’t either but assures that’s not going to happen. Wendy argues that Ava moved across town but not across the globe, so if she gets in over her head again, Tripp is going to want to protect her and he should. Tripp asks what Wendy is trying to say.

EJ approaches Harris and Ava at the Brady Pub. EJ tells Ava that he received her resignation from the Bistro and passed it along to Stefan since he will be running the Bistro full time after being bounced from DiMera Enterprises. Ava asks if he knows about the Bistro reopening. EJ says he doesn’t know when or care. EJ then asks Ava to hand over the keys, so he can pass them on to Stefan.

Kristen asks Stefan if he’s really going to let EJ steamroll him like that and take over the business that he worked so hard for. Stefan feels he has no choice as it’s either resign or get fired since he can’t imagine the board would love having a convicted felon for a CEO. Kristen admits she can’t argue with that. Stefan then brings up that Kristen is a pardoned felon, so while he can’t be CEO, there’s no reason she can’t be. Kristen likes where this is going. Stefan says he does too. Kristen tells Stefan that they will make such a winning team. Stefan agrees and declares that he will help Kristen knock the CEO crown off EJ’s head, which they toast their drinks to.

Maggie goes to Titan to see Alex. Maggie says she’s sorry to barge in but she just spoke to Theresa, who told her about Bella. Alex knows that Maggie is dying to say she told him so and tells her to lay it on him.

Konstantin tells Theresa that he just overheard her chat with Maggie and asks if she’s having a sudden attack of conscious, reminding her of their agreement. Theresa argues that he’s not holding up his end but Konstantin reveals that he is, as Maggie just proposed to him. Theresa doesn’t believe him. Konstantin says they are forbidden from spreading the word as they want to savor the status before letting the world enjoy it. Theresa can’t believe that Maggie would be gullible enough to fall for a con artist like him. Konstantin argues that he cares about Maggie. Konstantin points out that Maggie is already giving away her half of Victor’s estate and since they set up Alex getting the other half of the estate while he’s entitled to her half. Theresa is sick of the deception and suggests this doesn’t work for her anymore. Konstantin tells her to walk away after she gets the money, or else Maggie will find out that she kidnapped her grandchild. Theresa says that was only because he blackmailed her and declares that if she goes down, Konstantin is going down with her. Konstantin warns Theresa not to play games with him and to stick to the plan or else she will live to regret it.

Tripp asks Wendy what she meant about Ava. Wendy says she knows that he will always be there for Ava and he should be as her son and family is very important to her too. Tripp says he knows that. Wendy reveals that earlier today, she spoke to her dad and he’s finally starting to sound like himself again. Wendy says that her parents are still grieving, but he told her that they are both trying to get on with their lives. Tripp calls that great news. Wendy adds that her parents are both very fragile and it affected them when they heard they almost lost another child, so she’s scared of hurting them again. Wendy admits that she’s tired of always worrying and having to look over her shoulder to wait for bad things to happen.

Ava tells EJ that she doesn’t have the keys to the Bistro on her at the moment and she would prefer to return them to Stefan himself and cut out the middle man. EJ says he was just trying to save them the awkwardness and suggests that maybe Ava relishes in the fact that Stefan took the fall for her misdeeds. Ava responds that Stefan made his own bed. EJ argues that they all know Harris is the one that floated Stefan that deal to keep Ava out of the charges and then he would not have Stefan prosecuted for trying to kill him. EJ thinks that was egregious to sacrifice an open and shut case to save one of Clyde’s minions. Harris argues that EJ made the deal to set Stefan free and asks how he got him to do it or what Stefan is holding over his head.

Stefan guesses Kristen wants the CEO position, calling her highly ambitious and addicted to status and power. Kristen says he would be correct and asks what Stefan will want in return. Stefan wants Kristen to help him get Gabi out of prison.

Maggie tells Alex it’s not her style to gloat and that she came here to congratulate him on making the right decision at long last. Maggie adds that she’s also there to present another chance to make the right decision. Alex says he’s listening. Maggie says they haven’t always seen eye to eye, but she wants him to bring her back on at Titan. Maggie knows the company has been struggling since Victor’s death, but she wants to make it as successful as it once was. Maggie declares that she believes they can right the ship together.

Theresa tells Konstantin that she never should’ve agreed to their agreement, but what she hates most about it is him lying to Maggie. Konstantin says he is fond of Maggie but argues that under different circumstances, everything that Victor amassed should’ve been his anyways and soon, it will be. Theresa advises Konstantin to run far when he does get that money because no one in Salem will want anything to do with him, especially Maggie. Konstantin says that’s fair but there’s an important piece of business that has come up since he arrived. Konstantin calls it an opportunity to avenge a great loss but there is something he must find to make that happen and he will not be leaving Salem until he does.

Wendy tells Tripp that she’s always considered herself strong and cool under pressure as she hates being afraid. Tripp tells her that fear is totally normal and healthy. Tripp calls her one of the strongest people he’s ever known, but even the strongest people feel fear and uncertainty at times. Tripp encourages that she doesn’t have to go through it alone as he’s always there for her. Tripp promises that it’s going to be okay and hugs her as she cries.

Harris guesses that Stefan has something on EJ and decides he’s going to make it his mission to find out. EJ thinks he has enough missions already. EJ reminds Harris that he knows the truth about his deal with Stefan and suggests they stay on his good side or else their irregular activities will see the light. EJ warns that Harris would at least no longer be an officer of the law. EJ then exits the Pub.

Kristen laughs at the idea of Stefan wanting her to help him get Gabi out of prison and calls that insane. Stefan jokes that she’s a little insane so she’s overqualified for the job. Kristen questions how he proposes going about that. Stefan points out that Kristen got herself out of prison semi-recently. Stefan asks if Kristen wants to be the head of the DiMera Empire and says she’s got this. Stefan asks if they have a deal. Kristen responds that she’ll think about it. Kristen asks if Gabi is innocent. Stefan says he’s never been more certain about anything in his life. Kristen responds that if Gabi didn’t kill Li Shin, the simplest way to get her out of prison would be to find out who did. Stefan says there’s nothing simple about it since the police have exhausted every lead while he and his private investigator have come up empty. Kristen assures that she will find a way as she then exits.
