Billy: Brought the perfect goodies — classic snacks for a classic comedy, guaranteed to make you laugh.

Chelsea: Does it look like i need cheering up?

Billy: Well, I mean, everybody could use a — use a laugh, right? I mean, I could use one right about now. I mean, we could go superhero. We could watch some costumed people blow a bunch of things up. Or we could go sci-fi. I mean, with me, older, the better. “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” right there for me. So many choices, so little time. What do you say? Your pick.

Chelsea: Um, uh, it doesn’t matter. Whatever you think.

Billy: Yeah, maybe I, uh — maybe I should have called first, huh? Are you upset that I showed up unannounced?

Chelsea: No. No, no. I’m really — I’m happy you’re here. I am.

Billy: I’m not buying that. Feels like there’s something else going on. I mean, I mentioned “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians,” and i didn’t get nothing out of you. Straight crickets. So, what is it? What’s going on?

***************************†****

Nick: I mean…

[Exhales heavily] I-I don’t know what else to say. Believe me, under this calm exterior, there’s raging jealousy. I think it’s gonna take more time than you think to, uh, get past this. I think the big question is, what does it mean for us? I don’t mean to put you on the spot.

Sally: No, you’re not at all. And I can answer that right now. I want us to date. You know, with my new sense of freedom, I’m ready to get to know you more fully now that i don’t have to worry what Adam thinks every time he sees us out there together. That’s where I stand. The rest is up to you.

Phyllis: Hey, guys.

Summer: Hey, mom.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. So, it’s time to clock out, isn’t it? How about we go out to dinner?

Kyle: Yeah, we were just going to grab some quick on the way home.

Phyllis: Oh, all right. Well, why don’t we grab something quick together? We don’t spend a lot of time together. Want to spend some quality time with your mother-in-law? I mean, nothing is more important than family, right?

****************************

Nick: Yeah, well, he is who he is, right? How about you? Are you, uh, having a nice, quiet dinner over there tonight?

Summer: Uh, yeah. Sure, let’s — let’s go with that. Do you want to join me?

Nick: Ooh, I really don’t. No.

Summer: Come on.

Nick: Summer, I love you more than anything in this world. But honestly, that looks like it’s going to be filled with more family drama, and I’ve had my fill for today.

Summer: I could really use a buffer, and I’m pretty sure that falls under the list of fatherly duties.

Nick: Oh, come on. Are you pulling the dad card?

Summer: It’s what daughters do.

Nick: I’m such a sucker when it comes to you. Okay, fine, let’s go.

Summer: Come on.

Nick: All right, the party is here.

Phyllis: Yes, it is.

Nick: What are we talking about?

Phyllis: Um, Marchetti.

Nick: Yeah. How is Marchetti? Are mother and daughter at each other’s throats yet?

Kyle: Quite the opposite.

Nick: Don’t know if I believe that. You two tend to have creative differences.

Phyllis: Well, look at you coming in hot. Okay, that’s a really unfair characterization of me and my daughter.

Nick: I’m not saying it’s your whole relationship. Just when you’re working together, because you’re both very strong-willed, fiery women.

Phyllis: Yes, we are both strong women who get things done.

Summer: That’s right.

Phyllis: Right?

Tucker: All right, what’ll you have?

Ashley: I would love a hot chocolate.

Tucker: You sure you don’t want some fancy coffee drink with foam and extra shots and scalded this and that?

Ashley: Tucker, I’m a very simple girl. Okay. [Chuckles] Don’t buy it, huh? How about some cinnamon on top?

Tucker: Of what? Oh, the hot chocolate?

Ashley: Yes.

Tucker: Okay. Uh, hi, sir. Uh, two hot chocolates. With cinnamon. Keep the change.

Ashley: Thank you.

Tucker: Thank you. Thanks for hanging out. It was a lovely day.

Ashley: Yeah. Brr. I’m still kind of shocked, though, that a man like you who loves his creature comforts actually wanted to surprise me with a picnic in the wintertime, no less.

Tucker: Yeah, I loved the look on your face when we got there.

Ashley: Well, it was magical.

Tucker: Oh, glad I can still dazzle you once in a while.

Ashley: Yeah. I mean, as far as picnics go, I will always remember it. A lovely and sweet moment in nature capped off by an offer to fund my very own empire. Please, would you stop being so coy and just tell me what you’re after? Because I’m dying to know.

********************†********

Tucker: Just wanted to spend some time with you alone in a beautiful setting, and I would gladly help you build your own business separate from Jabot. Kind of the way you did when you decamped to Paris years ago.

Ashley: Mm. You heard about that?

Tucker: Mm-hmm. I was impressed by it. And with no one to stop you, you were really on the verge of great things. I was disappointed when you closed up shop and merged with Jabot.

Ashley: That’s why you came, right? That’s why you’re here? You don’t really want Jabot, but you just want to convince me to leave Jabot? Or is it maybe a misguided attempt to protect me before you decide to pounce on my family’s business?

Tucker: Boy, you know what’d be nice? If, for once, you just took me at my word. But… I guess I knew that earning your trust was going to take time and patience

Adam: How, uh — how did your lunch go with Nick?

Sally: It was terrific. Thank you for asking. We grabbed a bite, Nick went back to the office, and I stayed here, where it’s quiet, to work on my new business concept.

Adam: So, everything’s good then?

Sally: What is with all the questions? Yes, I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m making exploratory calls. I’m percolating ideas. I’m — I’m — I’m setting my life on a fresh trajectory, you know? Or trying to, anyway.

[Sighs] Oh, my god. Who am I kidding? No. No. No. I’m not fine, okay? I’m the opposite of fine.

Adam: I’m not sure what brought on that little outburst, but I’m sure that I deserve it, whatever the cause.

Sally: “Whatever the cause”? You, Adam. You are the cause. I mean, after that ridiculous profession of love? Do you recognize how embarrassed I was? After all of the rotten things that you’ve done, that was the capper. I mean, as if you haven’t tortured me enough.

Adam: Torture, Sally? Come on. That’s a bit strong.

Sally: Mm. On the contrary. I think it’s actually not strong enough. First getting me to fall for you, then pushing me away, and then lying to me about all of it, and now this?

****************************

Diane: [Sighs] I have told Jack and Kyle everything about my relationship with Jeremy. They know exactly what kind of man he is, and yet they have promised to protect me if it comes to that.

Tucker: Then they’re both fools.

Diane: Oh, really? So, what does that make you, hiding behind Ashley and the ladies?

Tucker: Is that what you think I’m doing?

Diane: Uh-huh. You fed them information about my past mistakes. You painted me in the worst possible light. And now you’re letting them do your dirty work, threatening to sic Jeremy on me, hoping to chase me out of town, all because I didn’t give you what you wanted. I couldn’t give it to you. Tucker, I never had access to any of the financial information about Jabot that you were after.

Tucker: You are a very resourceful woman. You could have found a way if you really wanted to.

Diane: You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Tucker: Ah. I know this much — you lied to me. And you told me what you thought I wanted to hear, but you never really had any intention of fulfilling your end of the deal, did you? So [Clicks tongue] Consequences.

Diane: [Chuckles] You are like a really rich toddler throwing a tantrum. But I’m not giving in.

Tucker: Yeah, so you keep insisting.

Diane: I am stronger than you think. And besides that, I finally have what I wanted for so long. My son is in my life. Not to mention I have a place in my grandson’s life. So don’t get your hopes up — or Ashley’s — because I’m not going to run.

Phyllis: I mean, what is this? What has happened to us? My own daughter doesn’t believe me. For the last time, this is not my responsibility. This is what Diane did. I didn’t do it. Nikki didn’t do it. Ashley didn’t do it. No one did it but Diane.

Summer: Diane wouldn’t even be on Stark’s radar right now if it wasn’t for you.

Phyllis: And Stark wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for Diane. And what she did in Los Angeles when she was lying to everybody, pretending she was dead — come on. This is her responsibility. She takes no accountability. And now she’s paying the price.

Summer: Yes, but everyone has a past, present company included. So, by your logic, does nobody deserve a second chance? Where would that leave either of us, hmm?

Phyllis: Okay. Where is this coming from? This is not how you feel about me, Summer. You’re just taking Jack’s lead, when he was rattling off my past history and using it against me.

Summer: Actually, I have defended you to Jack so many times, earlier today included, but you make that really difficult.

Phyllis: You could say what you want, go ahead and claim what you want, but you haven’t trusted Diane from the minute she arrived in town.

********************************

Nikki: When Sally was still in Los Angeles, she told everybody she was dying so she could manipulate them, just like Ashland.

Nick: We have all done things in our life we are not proud of. But I know Sally is not the same person she was in L.A. She’s worked very hard to make some changes in her life. And unlike Ashland, Sally has learned from her mistakes, and she’s determined to do things the right way.

Nikki: She tried to ruin Summer’s life. Summer and Kyle almost didn’t find their way back to each other because of what Sally did.

Nick: But they did. And that trip to Milan turned out to be one of the best things to ever happen to Summer’s life. Now, as Summer’s father, obviously I don’t condone what Sally did to her. But I can see both sides, and I’ve made peace with it.

Nikki: I am so disappointed to hear you say that.

Nick: Well, mom, I’m sorry you and dad don’t agree with this, but whoever I choose to spend my time with is nobody’s business but my own.

Nikki: And I understand that. But aren’t you the least bit concerned about this might affect your relationship with Summer?

Nick: No, because Summer loves me and eventually she’s gonna see that I’m happy and that’s gonna be the only thing that matters to her.

[Chuckles] That’s okay. Everybody’s minds are a million miles away this time of year, you know, going over our shopping lists and trying to figure out who’s naughty and who’s nice. I mean, I always think everyone’s nice, and then I look at my list and think about it. I am surrounded by some extremely naughty people.

Daniel: What do you mean?

Billy: Well, ever since this place opened, around this time of the day, it’s usually a ghost town. So, I come here to…you know, get a little space.

Daniel: You know, most people would go to libraries for that kind of quiet.

Billy: They don’t serve scotch at the library.

Daniel: Very true. Beverages were an incentive for me, too.

Billy: Which explains why we’re both here at the same time.

Daniel: I suppose so.

Daniel: Until he isn’t. He’s impulsive. He makes choices that lead to disastrous outcomes.

[Chuckles] Oh, come on. What? Look, I’m not the one who’s in love with the guy. I can say whatever I want about him.

Lily: Yeah, clearly.

Daniel: Okay. Here’s the question. Is he falling into old patterns? You know, even though he’s trying to do the right thing and be this stand-up guy.

Lily: That’s exactly what it is. I feel like this is just a symptom.

Connor: Let’s see. Oh, some lichens grow just one millimeter in an entire year.

Sharon: Wow. Well, if that’s the best they can do, yay for the lichens.

Connor: And scientists have found them in the coldest places on earth.

Johnny: And they’re a life-form that’s a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and an algae.

Connor: Hey, Johnny.

Johnny: ‘Sup, Con. It’s freezing out there.

Connor: Want to go see if we can find any lichens?

Johnny: As long as I can get in on some of that hot chocolate action.

Sharon: You’re in. One hot chocolate coming up for you. Oh, Michelle, could you please grab two hot chocolates, please?

Interview with Karen David, Tyler Hilton and Robert Tate Miller

TV Interview!

Karen David and Tyler Hilton in "When Christmas Was Young" on CBS

Interview with Karen David, Tyler Hilton and Robert Tate Miller of “When Christmas Was Young” on CBS by Suzanne 11/3/22

This is a fun holiday movie with some great music. You probably will recognize the two actors who star in it. Karen David (Melody) is in “Fear of the Walking Dead” and has been in many series, including “Legacies” and “Once Upon a Time.” Tyler HIlton is most known for “Extant” and “One Tree Hill.” They do an excellent job in this movie, which is produced by Sheryl Crowe and features her original music. The main tune is very good. It premieres tonight on CBS, 12/18/22, but you can watch it as well on Paramount+.

WHEN CHRISTMAS WAS YOUNG

ERIN FREILICH: Hi, everyone. I’m Erin Freilich, and together with the ever so festive Noelle Llewellyn, I am pleased to welcome you to the panel for “When Christmas Was Young.” The movie, which premiers on Sunday, December 18th on CBS and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+, is a Nashville music themed movie for which award winning singer songwriter Sheryl Crow executive produced and wrote the title song.

The story follows a headstrong music manager in desperate need of a hit song for his last remaining client who finds himself falling for a gifted singer songwriter with abandoned dreams of making it big as he attempts to secure the rights to a Christmas song she wrote years ago.

On today’s panel, we have the stars of the movie, Karen David and Tyler Hilton, as well as our wonderful screen writer, Robert Tate Miller.

Before I hand the virtual mic over to Robert, just as a reminder, if you have a question, please raise your hand in the chat feature, and I will call on you by your screen name when it’s your turn.

Over to you, Robert, for your opening remarks.

ROBERT TATE MILLER: Thank you very much. Noelle, good to see you guys. Thanks for being here.

We are very, very excited about this project. Originally, coming up with this idea, wanted to do something that had not really been done that really had a sense of uniqueness about it. And I know you’ve heard there’s 150 movies new movies coming out. Wanted to do a project where you remembered it and said, “Yeah, I remember that one, When Christmas Was Young, it was a little different.” And we feel like we’ve created something that is unique and different, and Tyler and Karen were just phenomenal in this. They really bring this story to life.

All of us have music to me – I don’t have the musical gifts that Karen and Tyler have, but music has been so important in my life. And I think we all have these soundtracks from our life, songs that evoke memories, happy, sad, romantic, that just take us right back to another time. And this movie is revolves around a song which drives the story, and we were fortunate enough to have Sheryl Crow write this song, a gorgeous song, and it is the centerpiece, the core of this movie. And the song brings our couple together and drives the story. So we hope that you love seeing this movie and enjoy the screening, and we really love it and have such a sense of gratitude because we all had a wonderful time doing it. Hopefully you’ll have a wonderful time seeing it.

ERIN FREILICH: Thank you, Robert.

And that was actually a perfect lead in because right before the panel started, you all actually heard Karen’s recording of When Christmas Was Young, which she’ll be releasing very soon as a holiday single.

So, Karen, before we take the first question, can you tell us a little bit about how you brought this song to life and when the single will be coming out?

KAREN DAVID: Yes. Oh, gosh, well, hats off to Sheryl Crow. I mean, it’s such a dream to have someone like her, you know, crafting a song for your character. I remember when Tom Mazza, our producer, sent sent the track over, I was in London, and I was on a busy commuter train. And everyone was all like 6:00 rush hour, and they’re all, like, grouchy and grumpy, and there I was just beaming, thinking, Oh, my God, I’m hearing Sheryl Crow singing this demo on a packed commuter train in London. And it just it was a dream come true from there.

I we knew that we wanted to do a record and a single, and my husband, who’s a Grammy nominated music producer, I kind of said to him, I said, “Are you” “do you have some time on your hands maybe to produce this album?”

And I’m in this our studio, this is our home studio here, and it was so special because we just had this studio built in May during the pandemic, and this was the first song that we recorded and he mixed and everything and produced here in the studio. So it was really special for us in our in our home, which was still in the middle of house remodeling, but it was it was a dream come true to sing such a beautiful song and a beautiful Christmas song, which I just think is I mean, the lyrics and everything, it says it all and just makes this whole film just so magical.

ERIN FREILICH: Thanks, Karen.

KAREN DAVID: It comes out November 11. 11/11. So I’m hoping there’s some good you know, good energy around that.

ERIN FREILICH: For sure. Thanks, Karen.

QUESTION (this was my question): Hi. Yes, my question’s for Tyler. Since you’re a musician in real life, was it strange for you playing a music manager rather than playing and singing yourself?

TYLER HILTON: Yeah, it was fun. Like, it wasn’t weird. I kind of felt like I was getting away with something, you know? Like, I sing in everything I do, so I was kind of like, oh, I don’t I don’t have to do anything except kind of watch everyone else do it.

And I’ve never yeah, I’ve always played the musician, I’ve never really played the music business side of things. But I’ve been doing this like, music professionally since I was 15 or whatever and been around all kinds of record people in all different, like, phases of the industry. So it was kind of fun to embody a lot of the people I think I’ve worked with or whatever and also to see, like, the compassion on that side of it too, you know, the kind of pressure they’re under and what the stakes are for them and stuff. But I really liked it. It was fun.

QUESTION: Karen, just tell us more about your relationship with music and with the with acting. I see you’ve been doing music forever, musicals and on stage and everything else. But tell us a little bit about what your first love was and was there ever sometime where you thought, oh, maybe you were going to be more of an actress and you weren’t going to get to do that much music.

KAREN DAVID: Hi, Mike. That’s such a good question. You know, I blame my older sister. She’s she’s a bit older than me, so she’s always been like my second mom in a way and got dumped with babysitting duties ever since I was a little girl. And whatever she listened to, I had to listen to.

And my parents had this big love for music. Right from when I was four years old, they would take me on weekends when I was growing up in Toronto for a bit. I would go to Ontario Place on the weekends because they’d have these free concerts, and I saw everyone from, like, Neil Sedaka to Kool & The Gang and The Temptations, you name it.

And my sister one day sat me down when I was six years old and introduced me to Olivia Newton John, God rest her soul, and she’s the reason why I went into wanting to sing and to act. I didn’t necessarily know about musicals, I just knew that I loved to just kind of write and make up tunes in my head and wanted to act in film or TV like her. So that’s what I was bitten so hard since I was a little girl, so it was always wanting to do both both of them.

When I went to drama college in England, after I graduated, I had my first sort of taste of musical there because I’ve never done a musical before. I was in the original cast of Mamma Mia!, and I remember all my classmates just saying, “You’re going to ruin your whole career before it even started because you’re going to do this musical based on ABBA, this is going to be the biggest flop, and you’ve just done Chekhov and Ibsen and you know, and Shakespeare at The Globe, and now you’re going to go do this musical.” And we still have a laugh about it that it yeah, not quite the biggest flop.

But that kind of opened my eyes of really wanting to pursue my music whilst I was in London, and it was then that I got signed to BMG at the time and then embarked on this chapter for a bit of being a recording artist. I learned a lot, a lot about my myself and, you know, music and stuff. And, of course, you know, I think every musician maybe Tyler can relate and loads of other musicians can relate too, and if you’re lucky enough to get signed to a deal and then when a company merges when BMG merged with Sony after having two singles out, I I lost my whole team, and that was a really soul destroying point in my life.

But acting, my agents were so happy. They’re like, “Great, now you can act and have time to do that.” So then the acting kind of took over and got really busy. So now it’s been trying to come back to it. And, you know, certainly on Galavant, I was able to sing, which was so wonderful, with Alan Menken. And then on Fear of the Walking Dead, the same, they kind of infused that with Ruben Blades, which was wonderful. And it’s just been so nice to be able to come and do a movie like this.

TYLER HILTON: They should do Walking Dead: The Musical. They should do that.

KAREN DAVID: We should do an episode with like a thriller section with zombies.

TYLER HILTON: I’d go see the regional touring company of that. That’s amazing.

KAREN DAVID: I like the way you think, love.

But, you know, I’m just with this movie, I just love that music is the core and the heart of this film, and it’s what unifies all of us together, and on top of that, to work with, you know, the family that we’ve had was just a dream. And, yeah, it’s kind of ruined me now. So it’s nice to be back in the studio and recording again. I’m really excited about that.

QUESTION: Hi. Getting back, Tyler, to what we were talking about, you know, did you find it easy to play your role as a music manager being that you are a musician, and were there any challenges that you didn’t expect to face?

TYLER HILTON: You know what? Here’s what I’ll say: I feel like this is one of those, like, rare scripts and one of those rare characters where as you’re reading as I was reading it, it all came it all made sense right away in my brain. It wasn’t even the fact that he was a music manager, it was just I understood the guy. Whether he worked at a car factory or whatever, I just totally understood this guy, whether he was in music or not. And I think that’s definitely a testament to the writing. And it was so funny as well.

And so the vibe I got from him was that he was just kind of this guy that was using, you know, humor and hubris as like a shell, and I just like, I related to it. I, like, felt for this guy. I thought he was funny. I, like, felt for his plight. And it wasn’t weird for me at all. I don’t know the music thing didn’t even really come into it for me as much, it just seemed like a guy who was struggling.

And, in fact, like, I was trying I think knowing a lot about music would have been a detriment, you know, if I think part of his thing is he knows talent, he knows, like, feeling, he gets a vibe. And I’ve met so many people like that, that are so successful in the industry, can’t sing or play a note but just can identify a vibe, a feeling. A lot of us are like that, you know. I mean, I play, so I don’t have that, but but anyway, I just I just really connected with him, which was funny and is the best thing that you can do, I feel like, when you’re acting. And the most surprising and wonderful thing too is, like, finding that you relate so much to somebody that has nothing to do with your life experience. But I just got him, you know?

QUESTION: Robert, what made you want to write this film?

ROBERT TATE MILLER: Well, I love a good love story, and I love music, and it just sort of just the title came to me first, to be honest. I thought, I got to build a story around this title. And then I thought, Well, let’s make it a song title. And I thought it’s kind of unique that a Christmas movie is centered around a song, an original song. And so that appealed to me. It was different than anything I’d ever done. The story came quickly, although it was a couple years of revisions and notes. I believed in it from the beginning and knew it was going to go all the way. I just wanted to make a good Christmas love story, to be honest.

QUESTION: Karen, this question is for you. And please understand it’s coming from somebody who cannot either sing nor act. But I’m curious, to me, as a singer, it’s the world asking you to strip yourself down to your heart and soul and put that out there to an audience. When you’re acting, you’re told to put on a different face and not show your true self. Does it feel that way to you, or is it all just part of your artistic soul coming through just in different formats?

KAREN DAVID: Thank you, Rick. All these questions are so good.

You know, I think, again, as Tyler said, speaking to the writing of what Rob created with this with this film and this story, there is just I can’t explain this inexplicable sort of symbiosis between, you know, Melody and all the characters too. I just it just felt so me. It touched upon when I read the script, I got so excited because it was nostalgia for me. It just took me back to my singer songwriter days and what that was like even starting out and, you know, doing the slog and fighting the good fight of trying to go through those struggles that you do when you’re first starting out. And it just it just brought me back to that place.

And I remember it so well as if it was yesterday. I just felt this connection so deeply with Melody, and I knew it was something I had to do. It felt easy for me because of not only Rob’s writing but also working with someone like Tyler. I mean, I keep telling Tyler this: He’s such a magical scene partner, he was so supportive and just elevated every scene and brought the best out in me.

And our director, Monika Monika Mitchell, who’s just a force of nature, I’m sure all of us will say this, you know: She’s a really, really special soul, and being on this journey with her just made everything easy and seamless and so cohesive. So I’m really grateful I’m really grateful to have done this with these guys. They made my job so much easier.

QUESTION: I have one for Robert and then one for Tyler too.

But, Robert, what are the musts that you have to have in a Christmas movie?

And, Tyler, you’ve done several. What why is that? Is there a thing about you and Christmas?

TYLER HILTON: Yes. I am Santa.

No, I’ll let you go first, Robert.

ROBERT TATE MILLER: I think the musts, you’ve got to have a good solid story with conflict, you’ve got to find a way to bring them together and split them up, you’ve got to have try to have a unique story that hasn’t I mean, I’ve written a number of Christmas movies, and I wanted this one to be something that really hadn’t been done before. I felt like we accomplished that.

You need snow, and you need a nice small town, usually. You just need a really good solid heart warming story that people can identify with and relate to. And you need to have them solve everything by the end, in the final act.

This is my favorite of the ones I’ve done, and I really, really mean that. I’ve done a number of movies. This is definitely number one, the best experience I had.

TYLER HILTON: That’s so cool. You know what I also like about my favorite part of Christmas movies that you put in this one is somebody who’s not really in the Christmas spirit.

ROBERT TATE MILLER: You’re right.

TYLER HILTON: I like that.

KAREN DAVID: There’s a lot of (inaudible) moments, a lot of funny moments on set.

TYLER HILTON: Yeah. And, no, I don’t know I don’t know why I’ve done so many, but they I don’t I just like to do things that are fun to do, and every one has been either with friends or people that I’ve kind of worked with before, and the same was true with this one. I’d worked with Monika Mitchell, the director, before, and I think she’s very cool, and she sent me the script. And I would have done it I probably either way just to hang out with her, and then I read the script, and I was totally blown away. I don’t mean any disrespect to any other holiday movies or whatever, but I told my wife, I was like, “Oh, my God, this movie is so good, this is like a real movie,” you know? And, I mean, it’s not just a holiday movie, a genre movie, like, it’s a good movie. I really was touched when I read it.

You know, I think the thing that gets me the most about this one is it’s not just whatever, like a holiday thing, it’s like this guy in particular is at this point in his life we’ve all been, and I’ve definitely been there recently where you’re kind of playing this game, you know, the way you keep scoring your life is one way, and he was kind of using a certain metric of success to keep score, and you hit the ceiling where you realize, This is as far as I can take this personally, emotionally. And then what? How do you pivot when you’re that far into your career, when you’re that old? Pivot mentally, pivot emotionally, pivot back to who you actually might be instead of the image you had for yourself as a puffed up, you know, early 20s or something. And I think this guy, you explored all that in a holiday movie or whatever. But I was super touched by it. So I would have done it regardless, if it was a if it was like an action film, you know, and it was like but I just love this movie.

QUESTION: You’ve heard a lot of comments, a previous one about Christmas movies. We’ve heard a lot of comments about this feels like a real movie, these feel more like real people, it doesn’t feel like a formula. And obviously millions of people love the current rom com Christmas formula. But I’ve always thought it’s possible to tell a real story with real emotional content and a grounded story line within the context of a Christmas movie. So do you think you achieved that, and how how did you go about achieving that while still leaving in all the things that people love about a classic Christmas rom com?

KAREN DAVID: We were just talking about that, and having just watched the screener, is that I think one thing that really touched our hearts deeply is just how grounded and how genuine and accessible, you know, this the tone of this whole movie is, which I think just speaks to what Rob and Monika have created and our producers too and Tyler and the whole gang.

I know Tyler and I did a lot of hanging out and, like, you know, just bonding. I think, you know, you never know what it’s going to be like when you meet your scene partner for the first time, and I remember when Tyler and I flew in, we were both so tired from our journeys. And as soon as I met Tyler, it was just as if I had known him all my life. We didn’t know that we were going into a table read right away with everyone, but yet just everything fit, everything fit seamlessly together. And I think that’s because of, you know, who Tyler is, who Rob is, who Monika is, Tom, everyone involved.

But I just love that this is this does feel real, and that’s something that was really, I know, important to all of us, to create something that especially, you know, coming off the back of the pandemic and everything, something that really just makes you feel good but in such a grounded and very genuine way.

TYLER HILTON: Yeah. I agree. I feel like I feel, like, the same way. We had so much in common right away, I thought, Oh, this is such a relief. And I also feel like in some projects that really work, there is an element of everyone showing off for each other a little bit. Like, the opposite of that is phoning it in. And, like, I think I can speak to me, but, like, with Sheryl Crow being involved with Karen, right away, I was like, Oh, my gosh, she’s so talented, so pro, so much experience. Rob, Monika. I was like I don’t know, like, I wanted to be I wanted it to be good. I love the script, and there’s just an element of like “Let’s do this” in every moment, you know? And I felt that from everyone. Like, every day of this film, I felt I didn’t feel anyone was phoning it in or just, like, doing another Christmas film. Everyone was into it and trying to make this real, which sounds cheesy, and I’m sure, like, everyone’s saying that about their movies, but I’m serious. I’m not lying. But it really was, you know?

KAREN DAVID: Everyone was cheering for each other.

TYLER HILTON: Yeah.

KAREN DAVID: Very much so, every day. And my God, the laughs we had on set. Guys, I mean, the pie scene in the beginning, we were just talking about it, how we were laughing so much. If you guys could see the blooper reel of how many times there’s a reason why I’m wearing that apron.

TYLER HILTON: Oh, my God.

KAREN DAVID: Tyler with the whipped cream can.

TYLER HILTON: Yeah. They got this fancy whipped cream canister for me, and I was like, Oh, this is going to be great, and every take I did, it exploded all over her blouse. So there was like white whipped cream everywhere, we’d have to reset. It happened so many times, I felt horrible.

KAREN DAVID: It went on you first, and then the whole camera crew, and then it went onto my blouse. And they were like, “Oh, dear.” So then the apron went on, and we were trying not to laugh. That was really tough during that

TYLER HILTON: We also ate a lot of pie in the movie, so maybe that’s why we were so excited because we were on a sugar high the whole time. Lots of pie in the movie.

QUESTION: Maybe Robert could address this also, about making it more grounded, more real, more grown up, if you will.

ROBERT TATE MILLER: Yeah. I mean, whenever I came up to a point where a cliche was easy to go, I went the other direction and just said, “I want to do something different, I don’t want to go down that road.”

And the producers and CBS were so supportive of just trying to make this a little more real, and I think it kind of just shines it shines through. I think you’ll see it when you watch the screener. It was just a desire not to go down the road I’d gone down a number of times before and to consciously resist that and create something original and new and different. And our incredible cast brought it to life, and I couldn’t I was on set for a good bit of it. It was just like a writer’s dream, being there, to see it all come to life. I think we pulled it off. I think you can be a judge for yourself when you watch the screener, though.

ERIN FREILICH: Thanks, Robert.

And thank you to all of our panelists and to all of you for joining today. I’m going to throw it back to Robert for some final thoughts.

ROBERT TATE MILLER: Thanks all you guys for being here. This is so much fun for me and such a thrill. I love this project. It was a couple years in the making. The first time I saw Karen and Tyler in the table read, within 30 seconds, I thought, We’ve got the right people. Their chemistry was immediate. I was so thrilled after that table read. I hadn’t met them yet, but I knew they were right. They really drive this movie and make you fall in love with this world, I hope, and with their characters and their story.

So thank you for being here and being a part of this, and thank you for your great questions, and I hope you love the movie.

CBS announced today that it has ordered three new original holiday movies to air in December 2022.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow will executive produce and write the title song for WHEN CHRISTMAS WAS YOUNG, a Nashville music-themed movie from a script by screenwriter and bestselling novelist Robert Tate Miller (“Hope at Christmas,” Forever Christmas). The story follows a headstrong music manager in desperate need of a hit song for his last remaining client, who finds himself falling for a gifted singer-songwriter with abandoned dreams of making it big, as he attempts to secure the rights to a Christmas song she wrote years ago. Tom Mazza, David Calvert-Jones and Karen Glass (Everywhere Studios) will executive produce, together with executive producers Shawn Williamson and Jamie Goehring for Lighthouse Pictures.

THE TALK’s Amanda Kloots will star in and executive produce FIT FOR CHRISTMAS from writer and executive producer Anna White (“Christmas Wonderland”), the tale of Audrey, an enthusiastic Christmas-obsessed fitness instructor at a beloved, financially beleaguered community center in quaint Mistletoe, Mont., who begins a holiday romance with a charming, mysterious businessman, complicating his plans to turn the center into a more financially profitable resort property. The movie will be produced by Brad Krevoy’s Motion Picture Corporation of America.

Mark Amato, who has created a dozen holiday-themed films, including last season’s CBS Original movie A CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL, as well as “A Kiss Before Christmas,” is writing MUST LOVE CHRISTMAS. In it, a renowned romance novelist famous for her Christmas-themed books finds herself snowbound in the charming town of Cranberry Falls, where she unexpectedly becomes involved in a love triangle between her childhood crush and a reporter determined to interview her to save his dying magazine. The movie will be produced by Brad Krevoy’s Motion Picture Corporation of America.

In December 2021, the CBS Original movies “Christmas Takes Flight” and “A Christmas Proposal” were the first original holiday television movies to air on CBS since 2012, and the newest additions to CBS’ longstanding holiday programming slate, which includes family-favorites like The Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS and the annual broadcasts of beloved animated classics, including “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.”

Chelsea: Hey. What’s wrong?

Connor: Nothing. I’m fine.

Chelsea: Connor, stop, please. Come here. I can see something’s troubling you. I’d like you to tell me what it is.

Connor: It doesn’t matter.

Chelsea: Hey, we said no more secrets. You can tell me anything.

Connor: I got into a fight at school.

Chelsea: What? Why would you do that?

Connor: I had to, mom.

Chelsea: Connor, we have discussed this. Violence does not solve anything.

Connor: But I couldn’t let anyone get away with calling you crazy.

*****”””””””””””””*****†***”””*

Chelsea: Alright. Tell me what happened. How did this other kid know about me?

Connor: Johnny and I were talking about all the stuff that’s been going on. It was private, away from everyone else. This guy somehow overheard us. He’s a jerk, a bully. And he jumped in and started saying all this mean stuff about you. I had to make him stop.

Chelsea: Well, I’m sure that was very upsetting to hear. These things have a way of just getting out, and people handle things differently. You know, some people are kind and understanding. Some others…

Connor: Are just mean.

Chelsea: Yeah. I’m not going to justify what this little boy said because, who knows, maybe he’s got problems at home. Maybe he’s just a jerk. One thing I do know for certain. He was just trying to make you feel bad. He was just trying to force you, push you to defend your mom. But you never have to do that, not for one second.

Connor: So, you want me to let them say terrible things about you?

Chelsea: Connor, there’s something I need you to understand. I’m not ashamed about what I’m going through. I can’t be because being ashamed is what stopped me from getting help sooner. And that made things a lot worse for me.

Sally: Hi. I’m not sure why you came over here, but I really do not want a replay of our last encounter.

Adam: Oh, it’s not going to happen. I promise. This time I’m completely sober.

Sally: Well, that’s good to know.

Adam: Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Or was it 4th of July that you celebrated? I know you don’t like to celebrate holidays on their actual day.

Sally: Actually, that was our tradition. So, I celebrated in my own traditional way with takeout and an old movie. What about you? Did you break bread with victor at the ranch, or were you nursing your hangover?

Adam: Ouch. I guess I deserve that. I actually had a quiet meal with Chelsea and Connor.

*************************************

Sally: Why are you doing this?

Adam: Because I love you. And you love me, too, Sally. You are the only woman that I have ever met who truly understands me and accepts me for who I am.

Sally: Can you just stop saying that, okay? Because whatever I thought I understood about you turned out to be wrong. I did not fully know you back then. Everyone who has warned me about you was right. Everything they said came true. You’re obsessed with proving yourself to your father, you resent your siblings, and you play games.

Adam: Okay. Maybe that is true. But none of that has anything to do with us.

Sally: It has everything to do with us. You broke my heart. And you’re continuing to break my heart with this Hail Mary proposal. You really think that I want to go into a marriage this way?

Adam: Okay. I screwed up. I should have given you the grand romantic gesture that you deserve, Sally. But I don’t regret asking you because you and I…we have a love of a lifetime. And in your heart, I don’t think you regret me asking you. And don’t tell me you’ve never thought getting married.

Chloe: Okay, I’m waiting for the punch line. You haven’t told me what you want to do, you have absolutely no funding, and you want me to be your ride-or-die on this insane adventure.

Sally: Yeah. We’re good together.

Chloe: Yeah, I love working with you, too.

Sally: Okay. So…you on board?

Chloe: I can’t believe I’m gonna say this… but yes. Before we move forward, I just want to know one thing. How did Nick take the rejection?

Sally: He understands.

Chloe: Of course, he did. The amazing Nick Newman understands everything.

Sally: [Scoffs]

Chloe: Look, I’m joking, but

[Sighs] Aren’t you glad you chose the brother who’s capable of honest human emotion?

Sally: Okay, Adam has emotions. He just has a different way of showing them.

Chloe: Don’t tell me that you’re waffling.

Sally: No, I’m just saying that Adam is…human. Okay, but there’s no way that he could care more about me than he does about his own ego and his need to win.

Chloe: Great. Because I am going to need all of your attention devising an entirely new business plan from scratch.

Sally: Well, I wouldn’t say from scratch. Like I said, I… have an idea.

**”*”*****************************

Chance: Not everything can be fixed.

Victor: You’ll do nothing?

Chance: Sometimes the best way to heal, victor, is just to leave things alone.

Victor: [Exhales heavily] Do I need to remind you, Chance, that when you came back from your overseas assignment in Spain, you promised me that you would put my daughter on a pedestal, that she would be more important than anything else? Are you not a man of your word? Because one thing I promise you — as you get older, you realize that family is everything, everything worth fighting for. Don’t you forget it.

Devon: Come on in.

Lily: I brought your pie plate back. I devoured the leftovers this morning.

Devon: You did? You ate it all?

Lily: Oh, my god. It was so good.

[Both laugh] Did you recover from your turkey stupor?

Devon: Yes, I did, thank you. I’m well-rested and ready to get to work.

Summer: Okay. I won’t press. But I really do think that we could use your talents at Marchetti — if this other idea doesn’t pan out. God, how amazing would it be for Harrison to grow up with his big cousin Lucy?

Daniel: Right. Yeah, but, I mean, I told you that Heather and Lucy, they’re in Portugal for the foreseeable future.

Summer: Well, you are more than enough for now. I really cannot wait for you to meet Harrison. Look at us. Making mom a grandma twice?

Daniel: Oh. Yes. Doesn’t that just sound like mom? Hmm? Can you just picture her as a sweet little innocent old granny?

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Kristen questions John telling her that he and Marlena got in a fight about her. John claims it was right in the middle of the town square in front of everybody. Kristen asks if he’s joking but John says that shoppers were stopping and staring because they got so loud. Kristen doesn’t understand why they were fighting about her.

Brady questions Eric saying that he’s quitting his job at Basic Black. Brady argues that Eric had one rough night. Eric says that’s not the reason he’s leaving. Brady asks if it’s the pay or the schedule and offers to fix it. Eric responds that it’s nothing he can fix as he just doesn’t want to work with Nicole. Brady doesn’t understand until Eric reveals that they broke up.

EJ says he can’t imagine where Johnny went since he knows his grandmother’s service is about to start. Marlena mentions seeing Johnny outside and that he said he was looking for a woman which EJ questions.

Johnny finds Ava outside the church and questions how this is possible since they said nobody could have survived that crash. Ava guesses she’s hard to kill. Johnny asks if she’s just been in Salem this whole time. Johnny brings up EJ saying he saw her and then thinking it was a hallucination but he guesses it was real. Johnny asks if this means Susan is alive too but Ava says she’s afraid not. Johnny questions how. Ava explains that she jumped out of the car but Susan did not. Johnny asks what’s going on, why Ava is here and in a disguise.

EJ questions why Johnny would be chasing down some woman. Sister Mary Moira mentions seeing Johnny earlier and says he ran off to go after this woman. EJ argues that whatever it was could have waited until after Susan’s service. EJ wonders where Johnny is and remarks that the clock is ticking, while he is unaware that Ava’s bomb under the table counts down from 53 minutes.

Stefan and Chloe work together at DiMera Enterprises. Stefan tells Chloe that she’s free to go and he will finish up but Chloe says she doesn’t mind staying. Stefan asks if there’s no where else she’d rather be. Chloe tells him about how she and Brady were supposed to be in New York today as he had gotten her tickets to one of her all time favorite operas and they were going to meet her mother for an early dinner, mentioning that she got a new dress and shoes for it. Chloe admits she was really looking forward to it until Brady dumped her for Kristen.

Brady questions Eric about his breakup with Nicole. Eric responds that he’s not sure they were ever back together. Brady remembers Eric being upset the other day when he came to talk to her but he just figured they were having a disagreement. Eric responds that there’s a lot more to it than that. Brady understands things are difficult for them with Jada being pregnant but talks about how Eric was confident that he could co-parent with Jada while being with Nicole, so he questions what the hell happened. Eric says that things changed. Brady gets that it’s complicated and Nicole will be insecure about Eric having a baby with his ex. Brady talks about how Jada will be the mother of Eric’s child but Nicole is the woman he loves. Eric then stops him and reveals that there is no more baby because Nicole talked Jada in to having an abortion.

Nicole guesses the woman Johnny went after must be pretty important. EJ asks if Johnny said anything else. Marlena says all he said to her was that he called out to her but she didn’t turn around, so he didn’t get a chance to talk to her. Sister Mary Moira mentions not seeing any woman. EJ remarks that if any of them were to hallucinate, they’re likely to see someone evil…

Ava claims to Johnny that she’s here to pay respects to Susan and she’s incognito because she didn’t think she’d be welcomed. Johnny is not sure he buys that as he can’t believe she has any interest in honoring Susan considering what she did to her. Ava says she’s truly sorry that Susan became collateral damage in the war between herself and EJ, but argues that it’s a war that EJ started when he tried to make her leave town. Ava says she’s sorry but she couldn’t stand for that and brings up that Johnny couldn’t either.

Sister Mary Moira complains about waiting and says they need to reunite Susan with their lord right away. EJ brings up Johnny. She argues that the kingdom of Heaven is waiting for Susan’s arrival, so she doesn’t want to wait another minute longer, while the bomb counts down from 48 minutes.

Stefan tells Chloe that he’s sorry that Brady ruined her plans for the night. Chloe says it’s okay as he already ruined their entire future and this is just one opera. Stefan understands that Brady hurt her badly, so she’s allowed to be upset, but he was under the impression that she was getting over it. Chloe says she is and knows that Brady only ended things with her and moved Kristen in because it’s what best for Rachel. Chloe argues that Brady could co-parent without moving Kristen in so soon, so it just makes her think that Brady had feelings for Kristen this entire time. Stefan says he’s sorry and comments that it seems to be weighing heavily on her. Stefan promises that by New Year’s, she will have forgotten all about Brady when he takes her off to Miami. Chloe says that sounds pretty damn good as they kiss.

Brady sits with Eric and says he’s sorry as he had no idea what he was dealing with. Brady says Nicole was wrong in talking to Jada, but it sounds like Jada made the decision that was best for her, so he thinks it’s unfair to blame Nicole. Eric argues that Nicole went behind his back and gave Jada this whole speech about how hard single motherhood would be but that doesn’t really matter anymore. Brady questions why they broke up. Eric says they are just different and not good for each other anymore. Eric says they got wrapped up in a forbidden love but came crashing back to Earth and remembered why it didn’t work out. Eric mentions that he and Nicole had another fight this morning after she trailed him to Sloan Peterson’s apartment and railed him for sleeping with Sloan, which Brady is shocked to hear. Eric explains that Sloan offered to take on his case and one thing led to another. Brady asks if he’s sure that’s the path he wants to go down. Eric says he can’t turn back now. Brady acknowledges that Sloan is attractive but brings up her reputation and what she did to Paulina, Chanel, and Abe. Brady questions if Eric really wants to get mixed up with a person like this. Eric calls that really classy coming from a guy who is shacking up with Kristen DiMera.

John tells Kristen that he shouldn’t say anything but Kristen argues that she deserves to know if they are fighting over her. Kristen says it’s obviously on his mind and encourages him to tell her. John then claims that Marlena wants to kick Kristen out of the house, but he’s not okay with that. Kristen questions that since he wasn’t exactly welcoming with open arms. John admits he had his suspicions when she first moved in, but claims he’s softened his stance a little. John explains that the whole idea that she was there to suck Brady back in is all that Marlena sees. John says Marlena gets blinded by her worries about Kristen manipulating Brady. John adds that Marlena doesn’t understand why Brady broke up with Chloe and moved Kristen in, so now Marlena worries that Brady is in danger of falling for Kristen all over again. Kristen asks what John thinks. John responds that he thinks she belongs with her daughter.

Johnny admits to Ava that he was pretty upset when EJ kicked her out, but now he’s starting to think he might have done the right thing. Ava questions what that means. Johnny argues that EJ didn’t start the war, Ava did when she faked her marriage to Jake. Ava thought he understood that. Johnny says he was wrong. Johnny argues that Ava tried to defraud his family while lying and stealing from them. Johnny declares that he was wrong to defend her. Ava questions where this is coming from and brings up how Johnny was as upset as she was when EJ kicked her out. Johnny screams that was before she killed his grandmother.

The priest asks if they should begin but EJ refuses to start the ceremony until Johnny arrives. Tripp then shows up and confronts EJ, calling him the son of a bitch who killed his mom.

Stefan and Chloe kiss until Stefan’s computer goes off with work alerts. Stefan decides he can make it to Susan’s memorial on time. Chloe offers to go with him. Stefan tells her that she doesn’t have to but Chloe says she wants to pay her respects to Susan since she was always kind to her. Stefan says he loves having her by his side so they exit together.

Nicole tells Tripp that EJ didn’t kill Ava as she drove off the road and it was an accident. Tripp argues that EJ was in hot pursuit because he hated Ava and wanted her gone, so he forced her to crash. EJ calls that insane and says he was trying to catch up to them to rescue Susan. Nicole tries to explain and defend EJ but Tripp tells her to save it, because the last person he wants to hear from is the tramp who slept with his mom’s boyfriend behind her back.

Ava tells Johnny that she didn’t kill Susan. Johnny points out that she did kidnap her and asks why she did it. Ava argues that she wasn’t going to let EJ push her around and just run away because he said to. Ava says she needed to hurt EJ as much as he hurt her. Johnny questions her using an innocent woman as a weapon. Ava argues that EJ disrespected her so he needed to pay. Johnny shouts that EJ wired her $30 million dollars, so she got what she wanted and asks why she couldn’t have just left instead of kidnapping Susan. Ava asks why EJ couldn’t have just paid her the money. Johnny says that he did but Ava reveals that first, EJ kidnapped Tripp.

Kristen questions John thinking she belongs with her daughter and asks if he thinks that means she belongs with Brady. John clarifies that he didn’t say that, just that he and Marlena have a fundamental difference of opinion about her. John states that Marlena thinks Kristen is a really bad person, while he does not.

Brady tells Eric that he’s not shacking up with Kristen. Eric points out that he is living with her. Brady argues that he moved her in because it’s best for Rachel and there’s nothing romantic going on as they aren’t even sleeping in the same room. Eric reminds him that it’s exactly how it started last time when Kristen was pregnant and moved in to the Kiriakis Mansion. Eric says that Kristen manipulated him then and wormed her way in to his house and his bed. Brady assures that there is zero chance of Kristen ending up in his bed. Eric asks if he’s still attracted to Kristen. Brady responds that he’s attracted to vodka too but he manages to control himself because he knows the road leads to disaster. Eric argues that it’s only a matter of time before Brady can’t fight it anymore. Brady says he may always be attracted to Kristen but swears he’s not going to go anywhere near her after what she did. Eric questions what he’s talking about and asks what she did to him.

EJ yells at Tripp not to speak to Nicole like that. EJ understands Tripp is dealing with a great deal of pain. Tripp argues that EJ is to blame for all of this and says none of this would have happened if he didn’t order Ava to leave town. EJ argues that if Ava left town, she’d be alive and well, but Ava escalated the situation by kidnapping his mother. Tripp argues that EJ escalated it by kidnapping him, which surprises the rest of the room.

Johnny questions EJ kidnapping Tripp. Ava guesses EJ left that part out and says he was held hostage in Seattle. Johnny asks if he’s alright. Ava confirms that Steve and Kayla rescued him but says who knows what would’ve happened if they hadn’t. Ava argues that she’s not the only one who dragged an innocent person in to this since EJ tried to one up her. Johnny points out that Tripp was freed but Ava still had Susan and EJ would’ve done anything to get her back. Johnny questions why Ava instead drove her off a cliff.

Tripp tells everyone at the church that EJ had him kidnapped. Tripp assumes it’s because he just didn’t want to pay his own mother’s ransom. Nicole thinks back to EJ telling her that he thought he could outsmart Ava and get Susan back without paying the ransom. Tripp points out that EJ isn’t denying it. Tripp calls EJ scum and says he cheaped out on his own mother and bullied his mother, so now they are both dead. Sister Mary Moira says that’s enough and argues that her sister’s soul is hanging in the balance, so she will not listen to another word.

Kristen questions John not thinking she’s a bad person. John says he doesn’t think Marlena does either but her view is colored by their romantic past. John admits he may be biased, but he remembers who Kristen was when he first met her as a social worker. They reminisce about how they did Little League with the kids. John says Kristen made a difference on a lot of people’s lives and that’s not a bad person. Kristen points out that was a long time ago. John says when Kristen first moved in, he didn’t know what his motives were but the longer she’s been here, his concerns have started to fade because he sees the good Kristen that he fell in love with.

Eric asks Brady what Kristen did. Chloe and Stefan walk through the town square and see them. Eric asks Brady again what Kristen did. Chloe tells Stefan they can just go but Stefan confronts Brady and asks him for the tickets to the opera that he was supposed to take Chloe to, so that they can exchange them for another performance and suggests on Valentine’s Day. Eric argues that they were in the middle of something. Stefan accuses Brady of bailing on Chloe and not even remembering, asking if he has any idea how much this night meant to her. Stefan asks if that’s how much Brady cares about Chloe. Brady says he cares about her more than he knows. Stefan says so much that he tossed her aside for Kristen. Brady tells him that’s not what happened. Stefan declares that at least now Chloe is with someone who truly cares about her and treats her like she deserves to be instead of making her feel disposable. Chloe tries to get Stefan to go but Stefan wants to make sure he makes it to the opera. Brady remarks that Stefan can take the DiMera jet and fly the whole company in for a private show. Stefan tells Brady that he really blew it as he had the most wonderful woman on the planet and he threw her aside like garbage while at least now she’s with a real man. Brady then punches Stefan in the face. Chloe asks what the hell is wrong with Brady. Stefan calls Brady out of control just like Eric and says they are both raging jerks who think nothing about assaulting people. Stefan remarks that Eric seems to have calmed down a bit since his stint in jail. Stefan suggests he should call the cops, so they can teach Brady the same lesson. Chloe asks if he really thinks that’s necessary. Brady tells Stefan to go for it and offers him his phone to call the cops.

John talks about the Kristen he knew having a real calling for serving other people including Marlena when she was possessed. John recalls Kristen getting him to see the truth and how they helped Marlena. John calls it ironic that Marlena is so convinced that Kristen has these evil intentions when she is the one who saved Marlena from being possessed. John comments that Kristen was a real friend to Marlena. John says he can’t understand why Marlena can’t find it in her heart to be a friend to Kristen now.

Johnny asks Ava what happened on the road that night, if she lost control of the car or if she crashed it on purpose? Johnny asks if she was going to hurt EJ by killing Susan. Sister Mary Moira comes out from the church and tells Johnny that they were wondering where he went. Johnny apologizes and says he just ran in to an old friend. Sister Mary Moira mocks that getting in the way of the fate of Susan’s soul. Johnny apologizes and hopes he didn’t miss the service. She tells him that EJ refused to start without him and then Tripp stormed in and started yelling at EJ about kidnapping him.

EJ tells Tripp that he’s sorry he’s upset but says they have tolerated this interruption enough. Tripp questions if wanting an explanation for his mother’s death is an annoyance to him. EJ suggests Marlena might be better suited to deal with this. Tripp tells him not to try to pawn him off on Marlena or pacify him with fake sympathy. Tripp declares that they are going to hash this out right here and now. EJ responds that they are going to pay respects to his mother and Tripp is going to get the hell out of here. Tripp then sits down and declares that he’s not going anywhere. The bomb under the table counts down from 13 minutes.

John tells Kristen that he loves Marlena with all of his heart but her lack of care can be frustrating to him. Kristen points out that there was a time when Marlena was willing to try. John remembers when Kristen was pregnant with Rachel and Marlena called it a new beginning for all of them, but clearly it wasn’t. Kristen guesses Marlena still can’t see past her mistakes. John urges that she needs to see how much Kristen loves her daughter and that’s why Brady moved her in. John talks about he and Brady seeing that Kristen is a really good mother and person. Kristen gets emotional and responds that she’s not a good person.

Brady tells Stefan to go ahead and call the cops. Chloe suggests they just go. Stefan brings up that EJ declined to press charges against Eric, so he guesses he can do the same for Brady. Stefan remarks that a jail sentence is temporary compared to the time that Brady will spend regretting letting Chloe go because that’s forever. Stefan and Chloe then walk away. Eric asks Brady if he’s okay. Brady responds that just seeing Chloe with Stefan makes him a little crazy. Eric says he gets it but questions why he gave Chloe up if he loves her so much.

Stefan tells Chloe that he’s sorry about that. Chloe says Brady is the one who should be sorry. Stefan says he shouldn’t have let Brady provoke him like that and that he just hates the way he treated her. Stefan assures that Chloe will make it to the opera with the best seats in the house. Chloe says she can’t wait and notes that Stefan’s bleeding has stopped but he got a little bit of blood on his shirt. Stefan guesses he can’t go to the memorial like that. Chloe thinks it’s probably over by now anyway. Stefan then invites Chloe to join him at the reception at the DiMera Mansion.

After Sister Mary Moira informs Johnny and Ava that Tripp is in the church, Ava begins to panic and decides she has to get in there, so she runs back in to the church.

Marlena tells Tripp that she would like to hear what he’s feeling but this is not the time or place. Tripp knows she means well but says he’s not going anywhere. Tripp questions why he should let EJ grieve for his mother when EJ took his mother from him. EJ then grabs Tripp but Tripp repeats that he’s not leaving. Ava then rushes in and tells Tripp that he needs to come with her right now, shocking both EJ and Tripp.

John asks Kristen what she means by saying she’s not a good person. John says he’s not being judgmental and asks what she did.

Eric reminds Brady that he said Kristen did something and asks what that was. Brady asks him to forget it but Eric refuses since she is living in his mother’s house. Eric demands to know why Kristen is living there since they both know it’s not what is best for Rachel. Eric asks Brady again why he would move that psycho in. Brady then responds that he didn’t have a choice and reveals that Kristen blackmailed him to force him to move her in and to break up with Chloe.

Stefan and Chloe go back to the DiMera Mansion. Stefan wonders what is keeping everyone and says they should’ve been back by now. Chloe says the events can be emotional. Stefan mentions that EJ was adamant about keeping it short since he was the only one scheduled to speak. Chloe suggests maybe they had an unexpected guest…

Tripp rushes up to hug Ava and says he’s so glad to see her. Ava repeats that they have to get out of here. EJ tells Nicole to call the police. Johnny rushes in to the church. EJ assumes this is the mystery woman he was talking about. Johnny confirms that he found her in disguise. EJ guesses she came back to admire her handy work. EJ declares that Ava is going to pay for what he did to his mother and grabs her arm. Tripp tells EJ to get his hands off of her. Ava tells Tripp that she can handle EJ and orders Tripp to just go. Tripp refuses to leave her but she says he has to. Tripp questions what she is talking about. Ava then announces that there is a bomb, shocking everyone in the room. Ava uncovers the bomb underneath the table which is counting down from 6 seconds. Ava screams for Tripp to run and then the bomb explodes.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At the Abbott house, Kyle returns from his time away sooner than expected, with time to help Summer finish decorating the Christmas tree. Jack and Traci talk about hanging the special Abbott ornaments. Jack, Kyle and Summer make sure that Traci continues to have no idea that Diane is hiding in the family cabin. As Traci leaves to go out for drinks with a friend, she says that she has a feeling that everything is going to be alright. After Traci leaves, Summer urges Kyle and Jack to be careful since they’re leaving to deal with Jeremy.

Summer goes to Jabot and is surprised to find her mother there. Phyllis tells her that she is cleaning out the things from her office. They talk back and forth, with Summer saying that she hopes they can move past what has happened and be a family again.

Phyllis mentions how upset she is about how her daughter fired her as an act of solidarity with Diane, and says that she has no intention to get over it anytime in the near future.  Summer remains steadfast that Phyllis being fired was due to her actions, since she encouraged a dangerous man to come to Genoa City in her attempt to get Diane to leave.

Kyle and Jack arrive at Jeremy’s hotel suite and Kyle knocks on the door. Jeremy gestures for them to come in.  He lets them know that he heard that Diane left Genoa City again and says what a shame he thinks it is. Kyle tries to get at Jeremy but Jack stops him.

He and Kyle stick to their story that Diane left town with nary a word, and has gone who knows where. Jeremy suggests that perhaps they’ve got Diane stashed until he leaves, but Jack steers Jeremy the conversation to money. He urges Jeremy to accept his offer because it’s the closest he’ll get to reimbursement. Jeremy says he won’t make any promises.

Ashley and Tucker are at Crimson Lights where she continues to be leery of Tucker’s motives behind him wanting her to build a new empire. Tucker tells her that he’s only interested in her happiness and thinks she could be a huge success at it.

She asks Tucker why she would need him then and he admits that she wouldn’t, although he thinks they could be good together. Ashley decides to head home but not before thanking Tucker for picnic earlier.

Jack and Kyle return to the Abbott house and tell Summer about having made an offer to Jeremy. Jack says that now they have to wait because Jeremy was open to considering it.

Ashley comes in the front door, and much to the relief of Jack, Kyle and Summer, who are quiet, Ashley says that she’s going upstairs to take a bath.

Once she has left the room, Kyle says that he hates the idea of Diane feeling abandoned on Christmas and that he wants to quietly go back to the cabin. Summer is taken aback that he would do that on Christmas eve at the Abbott house. Kyle tells her and Jack that they didn’t see the tears in his mother’s eyes when he said good bye to her.

At Chelsea’s apartment, she and Billy have movie night, munching on popcorn and watching  “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  She says that although a few scenes will be a challenge for her to see, the overall story is filled with hope about someone realizing the value of life.

There’s a knock on the door and it’s Adam, showing up with gifts for Chelsea and Connor. He hesitates when he sees Billy sitting on the couch. Billy says that he was just going to head out. Once he’s gone, Adam tells Chelsea that he assumes she is not up for the big Newman family gathering. She surprises him by saying that she wants to go and tells him that after talking with Sharon, she wants start trying to live a normal life again.

Phyllis goes to the coffeehouse and slumps to put her head down on the counter. Tucker sees her and remarks that it looks like someone’s having “a hell of a day.” Phyllis tells him that she didn’t ask him and he goes on to suggest that she stop fighting the world so hard because it tends to make you feel better.

Over at Society, Devon and Lily tell Daniel that they are greenlighting his gaming endeavor with Hamilton-Winters. However, Devon is a bit concerned because Daniel doesn’t have his creative team together yet and it takes time with huge undertakings.

Daniel says he wants to announce the gaming platform in March, but Devon thinks this three month timetable is unrealistic.  Daniel questions him, which results in Lily suggesting that they table the discussion for now.

When Daniel realizes Phyllis is available to be hired, he presses her to join his new gaming platform. He says that since Phyllis is a gamer and a high level hacker, he thinks she’s a good fit for his platform. He tells her that he wants her to join him in solidifying his platform he is going to have with Chancellor-Winters.

Downstairs at the coffeehouse, Billy is waiting for Lily. When she gets there, they speak uncomfortably. When Lily mentions the idea of couples counseling, Billy says that she must think he’s going off the rails. Lily tells him this is not the case, rather, she doesn’t think they can handle what’s going on between them on their own. Billy is amenable and says that he will set something up with couples counseling after the holidays. They hold hands across the table.

Back in Jeremy’s hotel suite, he is on the phone with someone about having unfinished business in Genoa City and mentions that he has some “stuff” to take care of on his own.

Update written by Dustin

At Sonny’s penthouse, Nina found a crayon drawing stuffed in the cushions of the couch with the word “MOMMY” written on it.. Sonny came in, and he said that he was glad that Donna and Nina had started to grow close. Nina recalled that Josslyn had stopped by to point out that  Nina was not allowed to spend time with Donna. Nina wondered if spending time with Donna was worth it.

Nina shared that because Nelle had been taken away from her at birth, she had a hole in her heart that she would always try to heal. She said that the more time she spent with Donna the more she was afraid that she was opening her heart to  heartbreak at a later date. Sonny understood, but he didn’t think she had anything to worry about. Nina still insisted that she should keep her distance from Donna. Sonny agreed to Nina’s new terms (despite how much grief he had been put through getting Carly to agree to allow Nina to see Donna in the first place), but he said there was nothing he would like more than for Nina to have a close relationship with Donna.

In a private room of Metro Court, Denise told Carly that Drew no longer had a reason to search for Willow’s birth mother. Carly asked about Willow’s biological father. Denise remarked that the check Carly had given her would only cover one deceased parent and that information on Willow’s father would cost Carly more.

Denise threatened to expose Carly for the lies she had told Drew and Willow. Carly was disgusted, but needed the information so she gave Denise another check. She told Denise that she was an awful person. “It could be worse. I could be paying someone to lie about someone else’s parents being dead. At least I own who I am and what I’m doing. Trust me, your life would be a lot easier if you looked in the mirror and did the same,” Denise told Carly.

At the Metro Court restaurant, Drew shared with Willow’s biological mother had died. Drew encouraged Willow not to give up hope. An upset Willow left to go for some air. Outside on the patio, Willow struggled to control her emotions. Drew found Willow, and he realized she was in tears.  It was at that moment, that Drew connected all the times that Willow had looked pale, when she had passed out, when she had felt faint, when she said she was “just tired.”  “Oh, my God.  You’re sick, aren’t you? He asked.

Willow shared that she had Stage 4 leukemia, and she added that she didn’t know how much time she had unless she could find a family member for a bone marrow donation. Drew hugged Willow and did his best to consoler her.

Willow said that although she was receiving chemotherapy, it wasn’t enough. Drew was sympathetic, and Willow asked Drew to promise that he wouldn’t tell anyone that Willow was sick. “Not even Carly,” Willow emphasized.

Carly told Willow she was sorry that her birth mother was dead. She said that Willow had all the family she needed in Port Charles. Willow thanked Drew, and she left. Afterwards, Carly remarked that she hadn’t realized how important it was for Willow to find her birth parents. “Neither did I,” Drew replied.

At Charlie’s Pub, Alexis and Gregory shared cocktails before Finn arrived at the bar. Alexis asked Gregory to give her a chance to talk privately to Finn, and Gregory agreed. Finn then told Alexis that things between him and Elizabeth were over.

Finn left the pub, and afterwards, Gregory said that his family was in Alexis’ debt. Later, outside Charlie’s, Ava encountered Finn. Ava asked what was on Finn’s mind. He totally ignored her and walked away.

At Wyndemere, Ava wanted to discuss her marriage to Nikolas. Nikolas said that while he wanted Ava to move back in, the timing was wrong because Spencer had just moved back in, as well. Ava said she hoped Nikolas would “press pause” on their plans for divorce. Elizabeth arrived in the foyer.

A surprised Ava wanted to learn from Nikolas why Elizabeth was at Wyndemere and why she had her own set of keys to the castle. Elizabeth made up an excuse about Nikolas having volunteered his family’s history for a school project that Aiden was working on. Ava bid Nikolas goodnight, and she left.

Alone in the living room, Nikolas shared that he and Elizabeth would have to be careful because Spencer had moved back into the mansion. Elizabeth replied that that wasn’t their only concern, and she handed Nikolas the bottle of prenatal vitamins. “Congratulations! You’re gonna be a father again… to my child,” Elizabeth said with a smile.

Elizabeth called her ridiculous plan to tell Finn that the prenatal vitamins he had found at GH and Wyndemere were hers.  She wanted to tell Finn the truth but Nikolas told her that if she did, Finn would send the cops to Spoon Island and she and Nikolas would likely go down for the false imprisonment of Esme.  He warned that this could mean she would be required to serve time away from her boys. Elizabeth couldn’t believe that she had become the kind of person that would go along with Nikolas’ plan.  Nikolas said that sometimes you had to do deplorable things because they were in the interest of the greater good.  Elizabeth said that if that were true that he must sacrifice his relationship with Ava, so that he could concentrate on the task at hand; keeping Esme off the streets.

Update written by Dustin

Sam met Maxie at the café, and Sam questioned Maxie on why they were meeting.  Maxie mentioned that she thought that Sam would be the best possible person to provide her with some well-needed perspective on her current situation. She told Sam about what had transpired between Austin and Spinelli. The lying, the blackmail, the ordering of her and Austin’s compatibility report behind her back and Spinelli’s constant interference in her relationship with Austin. Maxie mentioned that she had trusted Austin when they first met but that trust had faded. Maxie confessed that perhaps Spinelli and Georgie had been right from the beginning and she should have trusted their intuition.  Sam advised Maxie to reassess her entire situation using her own intuition and then proceed accordingly.

Nikolas arrived at the gallery, startling Ava. He told her that he would always love her, and she replied wistfully, “If only that was all it took to fix things.” She invited him to join her for takeout, but he said he would not be staying. He admitted that he was only there to make a special delivery. He handed her an incredibly thick group of papers and a pen. Ava looked at the papers and all the happiness drained for her face.  “Divorce papers?” she snapped.  She believed that something had driven him to go ahead with the divorce and Victor was first in line. After some badgering, he blurted out that he’d had an affair with Elizabeth.

Ava wanted details of the affair, but Nikolas would only tell her that Elizabeth was pregnant. He was determined not to fail another child. He advised her to look at the very generous offer. Ava saw a letter opener on the table and picked it up. She swung at him, but only pinned the papers to the wall. “That’s what I think of your offer,” she murmured. “You could have killed me!” he exclaimed. “Remember that,” she shot back. He apologized, as he’d never wanted to hurt her. “God have mercy on you because you’ll get none from me,” she said coldly, and he left.

Josslyn arrived at Kelly’s with an armful of toys for donation, and Dex offered to help her, but she insisted that she could do it herself. With Spencer acting incredibly rude toward Dex, Dex asked Cameron to cancel his order, and said that he would gladly go to another restaurant. Cameron said that was fine, but Spencer demanded that Dex pay for his order. Dex smugly took out a roll of                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     cash and told Spencer that Sonny paid him well. Spencer punched Dex, who fell on the floor. Dex popped back up, and Spencer dared Dex to punch him.

Cameron separated Spencer and Dex, and Josslyn couldn’t believe that Spencer was already causing problems, freshly out of prison. Spencer explained that Cameron had told him that Dex had put Josslyn in danger, and he yelled at Dex to leave. Josslyn assured Dex that he didn’t have to listen to Spencer. “You have no clue what I do or don’t have to do,” Dex responded, and he left Kelly’s. Cameron didn’t want Spencer to hurt people because of anything he had said. Spencer believed that the attitude of his group of friends had changed in his absence, and he said he didn’t believe he was no longer wanted or needed.  Spencer then stormed out. Cameron suggested that, with all the craziness around them, he and Josslyn go somewhere nice, just the two of them. Josslyn said that sounded really nice but they needed to talk first.

Rory arrived outside at the address of an apartment that he had gained knowledge of by improperly looking through Dante’s filed. He knocked. The door opened when he knocked, so he announced himself and went in. The door slammed shut behind him, and the Hook appeared. From outside the apartment, Dante heard gunshots and called for backup. He announced himself and kicked in the door to the apartment. He found a man bleeding on the floor and checked for a pulse. Just then, Rory emerged, bleeding, from another room. He fell onto the couch and told Dante it had been, “The Hook.”

Trina entered Jordan’s office and asked if she’d seen Rory. Jordan informed Trina that Rory was probably around the station somewhere, as his shift had just ended. Jordan advised Trina to stick around because Rory would love to see Trina. “Not for long,” Trina muttered. She excused herself to go to Kelly’s, and she left. A few minutes later, Jordan’s phone rang, and she learned of Dante’s call for backup.

Jordan arrived at the apartment which was now an official crime scene.  The suspect lay on the floor with what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Dante explained that he had to have just missed the killer, and the woman they suspected could have jumped out the window. Jordan advised an officer to set up a 10 block perimeter to look for the killer. Jordan didn’t think Rory could wait for the ambulance, so Dante and the other officer carried Rory out of the apartment. Jordan put in a call for the medical examiner and crime scene unit to get to the apartment.

At General Hospital, Portia showed Elizabeth some of her options for wedding dresses. However, Portia was unsure about getting married in February, when “the Hook” killer was still on the loose. Elizabeth thought it would give everyone in Port Charles something nice to look forward to. Portia reminded Elizabeth that she and Finn hadn’t yet RSVP’d. Elizabeth said that she would definitely be there, but she couldn’t speak for Finn, as they had ended their relationship.

Gregory ran into Finn at the elevators on the 10th floor of General Hospital, he insisted on taking him to dinner. He knew that Finn hadn’t been doing well, and he told Finn that Violet had also picked up on it. Finn admitted that he and Elizabeth were through. Gregory wondered if Finn wanted to salvage the relationship, but the conversation was interrupted.

Jordan arrived with Rory, Dante, and the other officers, and Portia, Finn, and Elizabeth got Rory onto a stretcher. Dante revealed that they’d need the antivenom, as Rory had been attacked by the Hook.

At Volonino’s gym, Curtis helped Alexis out with the punching bag. He explained that they needed to “establish a winning mindset” before they tried to catch a serial killer. A short while later, Alexis emerged from the locker room after having changed. Curtis told her that the PCPD had been “tight-lipped” with any information about “the Hook” killer, and Alexis wasn’t sure what else they could do.

Dex arrived at the gym, and thought about Josslyn as he beat up the punching bag. Curtis returned a short while later and eyed Dex, deeming him far enough away to talk to Alexis. As Curtis explained that Ryan didn’t think that Esme was the killer, his phone rang, Jordan asked Curtis to pick up Trina and bring her immediately to the GH, as there had been another attack. While he talked to Jordan, Alexis got a text from Gregory that read, “911 at GH.” They ran out, Dex thought about Josslyn more as he worked over the punching bag.

Spencer ran into Trina as he exited Kelly’s. He sarcastically talked about how he wasn’t supposed to stick up for anyone anymore. Whatever he’d done, Trina said she was sure that his heart had been in the right place, and he probably just needed to work on his execution. He figured he could do that the next time he was in town. He revealed that he was leaving as soon as the terms of his prison release were met, as Port Charles was no longer a home. He said, “I’m going to move on, and I’m going to disappoint strangers” instead of the people he loved.

Curtis arrived with news for Trina that he said Cameron and Josslyn needed to hear, also. The three went into Kelly’s, and Curtis informed the kids that they needed to go with him to the hospital immediately, on Jordan’s orders, as she wanted eyes on all four of them. He revealed that there had been another attack. Trina asked who had been attacked, and Curtis reluctantly answered that it was Rory.

At the hospital, Alexis asked Dante if the Hook killer had struck again. Jordan ordered Dante to go get cleaned up, so he left. Jordan stated that an officer was fighting for his life after a cowardly and brutal attack, and she would do anything she could for justice. “I’ll be damned if we lose another one of our own, and you can quote me on that,” she added, and she walked away.

In the operating room, Finn, Portia, and Elizabeth worked on Rory. Finn ordered Elizabeth to administer the antivenom, but she reminded him that it was in short supply. Finn replied that the poison would kill Rory if the injuries didn’t, so she injected the antivenom into the I.V.

Jordan informed Dante that Mac was at the apartment, and Dante offered to see if Mac needed help. But , Jordan refused and said she wanted him to stay at the hospital, as he needed to see things through for Rory’s sake. Trina and Curtis arrived with Josslyn, Cameron and Spencer in tow.  Trina immediately asked how Rory was doing. Portia told her that Rory had lost a lot of blood, and he was bleeding internally. Trina wanted to see him, but Portia added that he was very weak. But moments later Rory was being wheeled to the elevators, and Trina ran over to him. He took his oxygen mask off and groaned that he knew it had been too soon to tell her how he felt about her, but he wasn’t sorry for doing it. “When you know, you know,” he said, and he passed out.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Nicole pushed by Sloan so she could confront Eric. She told him about starting a drunken brawl and hooking up with Sloan. He told her that he understood hers and Sami’s impulsive behavior. He said it was more fun to be the bad twin. Sloan came back in the room just as Nicole left. She wanted to know if Eric was okay. She told him there was still time for them to have some love in the afternoon. She loosened the towel she was wore and they kissed. They had sex and they showered together. He let her know that he had to meet Brady. She wanted to be with him again and he was willing to do that. Charlie and Ava loved the bomb she created. She wanted to make all of her enemies pay. She wanted to start with Nicole. She knew she would be at the funeral. John and Marlena talked about how they couldn’t let Rachel have what she wanted for Christmas. John thought they had to get Kristen out of Brady’s life for good. Marlena thought he should get close to Kristen again as a friend. She thought Kristen would tell him what she’s holding over Brady’s head. He loved it when Marlena schemed. She thought it was good parenting. She had an idea of how to get Kristen to let her guard down.

Kristen interrupted Brady’s conversation with Tate. She dangled mistletoe in front of him. He didn’t want her to encourage Rachel’s fantasies that they were getting back together. He thought that was good that she was willing to go to Susan’s service. She had a plan so that she could see EJ. Brady wasn’t going to like the plan. Kristen showed up at the DiMera mansion. She told EJ that she wanted to be there for him. He didn’t want her to be there. He wanted her to leave so he could be alone. Brady met with Eric. He let him know that he lost money because he was arrested. Eric quit his job and apologized to Brady. Nicole showed up at the DiMera mansion to tell him about Eric and Sloan. He told her that Kristen showed up at the mansion. Since EJ didn’t have anyone else, Nicole offered to go to the funeral with him. Ava wore a wig and put the bomb near Susan’s things at the church. Johnny was outside the church. He thought he saw Ava. He wanted to know if that was her. She let him know that it was her.

Young & The Restless Update

Y&R logo

Update written by Barbara

Fresh off their heated conversation at Jabot, Phyllis follows Summer to Society where Summer is picking up a to-go order and relentlessly asks her whether she’s going be fired from Marchetti.

Phyllis continues to blame Diane over and over again for the chaos with Jeremy, causing Summer to call her mother out for taking no accountability in the situation.

Summer tells Phyllis that she already discussed the Marchetti issue with Kyle and they have decided to terminate Phyllis’s employment there, effective immediately.

Phyllis looks aghast and can hardly believe what she is hearing. Summer tells her that she hopes she at least learns something, takes her to-go bag and leaves.

All the while, Adam is at the bar and has been listening to the loud conversation between Phyllis and Summer. He sends a drink over to Phyllis.

Lauren and Michael come into Society arm-in-arm and Phyllis lays blame on them too. Michael quickly reminds Phyllis that he had told her if she went after Diane, it could backfire.

At the coffeehouse building, Chelsea comes down from her apartment. Sharon greets her and asks why she didn’t join Connor to watch him play soccer in the park.

Chelsea tells Sharon that it feels strange and uncomfortable venturing beyond her apartment and the coffeehouse. Sharon gently encourages Chelsea to take a step or two outisde her comfort zone.

Victoria walks in and Chelsea tells her that she would like a chance to make amends. At first, Victoria declines, saying that she is having a car take her to the airport for a business trip. She has a change of heart, however, and lets Chelsea know that she has a little time to spare before her trip and the two women go upstairs to Chelsea’s apartment.

Chelsea apologizes for trying to destroy Victoria’s marriage when she first came to town and for being too pushy about Johnny finding out about his bio mom.

Victoria expresses reservations about Chelsea’s intentions, but Chelsea says that her focus is entirely on getting better.

At Newman Enterprises, Nikki and Nick are talking business and she tells him that she wants him to lead meetings while Victoria is away.  She tells him that she wants him to put forth some leadership skills.

Nikki expresses her enjoyment of watching her children shine in the ways she knows they can, with the exception of Nick’s personal life, clearly meaning his relationship with Sally. Nick gets a little impatient with Nikki’s concern about it, but Nikki continues, emphasizing that Sally had faked a terminal illness while in LA. She also asks Nick if he really wants to bring another Ashland Locke into the family.

Nick counters that Sally is nothing like Ashland. He says that unlike Ashland, Sally has learned from her mistakes. He adds that he is not worried about any issues with Summer due to what Sally did to her because he’s sure that Summer wants her father to be happy.

At that moment, Sally comes into the office at Newman and speaks with Nick in a flirting manner after Nikki leaves. She hands him her tablet and asks him to look at the new numbers for her business plan.

With a gleam in his eyes, Nick tells her that he likes what like what sees and starts spouting off information in business language. At one point, he and Sally get close and he says he likes spending time with her, working with her, laughing. The spark between them is palpable and he requests that Sally find time in her busy schedule to fit him in so they can go to dinner sometime. She tells him that the idea of planning dates and taking things slow is new to her because it was the opposite with Adam.

She and Nick lean in to kiss, but she pulls back and says that she has to go pick up a takeout order at Society. As she leaves, she tells Nick that she will pencil him in.

Allie and Noah come into the coffehouse and she excuses herself to go to the patio to take a phone call. Sharon goes over to Noah and tells him that Audra was there earlier looking for him. Allie finishes her phone call and as she’s about to go back into the coffeehouse she overhears this.

When she’s alone with Noah, Allie presses him about what’s going on with him and Audra. Reluctantly, he tells her that Audra came looking for him at the club and in an attempt to lure him back, she kissed him.

He tells Allie that he pulled away from her, with no hesitation, but Allie persists. She asks Noah if he kissed Audra back, even a little bit. He becomes uneasy and says that it happened so fast he can’t be sure.  Allie asks him to tell her if she needs to be worried.

At Society, Sally bumps into Adam at the bar and lets him know that she’s not afraid of running into him. She tells him that she thinks their relationship has had a natural resolution and Adam says he’s glad she feels that way.

Sally tells Adam about her business plan for starting an interior design company with Chloe and how she would like to partner with Chancellor-Winters to design for their offices, hotels

Adam wishes Sally success in her undertaking and adds that he hopes Nick brings her the happiness she deserves. She lets him know for sure that she and Nick are officially seeing each other and taking things slow.

Afterward, Sally goes over to Phyllis, Lauren and Michael, bragging to Phyllis about how she and Chloe are launching an interior design business and they will probably be going head-to-head with Marchetti Home and will be their biggest competitor.

Adam looks over from his seat at the bar, intrigued, while and Lauren and Michael head for the bar. Michael comments about ordering a bottle of scotch with two straws. Phyllis is left standing alone, lamenting that “everyone’s lost their damn mind”.

[ Door opens, closes ]

Summer: [ Gasps ] You’re back.

Kyle: I am. And I missed you like crazy. Mm. Tree looks phenomenal.

Summer: Mm, thank you. All we have left are your special abbott-family ornaments. I am so glad that you got back home early. We didn’t want to finish decorating without you.

Ashley: Yeah. Brr! Wow.

Tucker: Alright, what’ll you have?

Ashley: I would love a hot chocolate.

Tucker: You sure you don’t want some fancy coffee drink with foam and extra shots and scalded this and that?

Ashley: Tucker, I’m a very simple girl. Okay. [ Chuckles ] Don’t buy it, huh?

[ Can opens ]

Billy: Aww, yes. My favorite — popcorn. You remembered.

Chelsea: And you brought my favorite seltzer.

Billy: That’s right. You know, connor picked the wrong night to go help the newmans decorate their tree. Thank you.

Chelsea: Yeah, I’m sure victor and nikki are thrilled to have so many grandchildren around them, but connor’s going to be bummed. He loves movie night.

Billy: Alright, well, we’ll wrangle him next time. So what are we watching?

Chelsea: I have it all cued up. A holiday classic.

Billy: “It’s a wonderful life.” Huh.

Chelsea: Yeah. Why? You don’t like it?

Billy: No, I mean, I like it, of course. Who doesn’t like this movie? It’s just, you know, with everything that you’ve been going through, it’s, uh…

Chelsea: I considered that. Regarding the darker scenes, I mean, I lived it. I’m working through it. I think I can handle a movie about it.

Billy: Okay.

Lily: So, devon and I ran the numbers, did some analysis of our own, and we came to realize this is going to be a very profitable long-term venture.

Daniel: Does that mean what I think it means?

Devon: It means that you can consider yourself hired because we are giving the green light to project omega-sphere.

Lily: Congratulations, and welcome to the team.

Devon: Yes, sir.

Daniel: Thank you.

Devon: Yeah, man.

Daniel: Thank you.

Devon: Of course.

Lily: Yes, of course. Thank you for pitching it to us.

Daniel: [ Sighs ] I can’t believe you guys made your decision so fast.

Devon: Well, when a project this big comes to your door, you got to give it all your attention.

Lily: So we’ll have a contract for you in the next day or two.

Daniel: Great, great. Well, I can’t wait to get started. What’s the next step?

Lily: Well, we’ll work with you on development.

Devon: Do you already have people in mind that you want to hire to help develop the platforming games?

Daniel: Mm-hmm, yeah, I’ve spoken with a few tech guys who sound interested. Now that I know that the project’s a go, I can bring in a primary developer, someone to head up the creative team.

Devon: So you don’t have anybody picked out yet, though?

Daniel: Well, experienced game designers and managers are not going to make a deal on a “maybe.” Until I knew that I had a contract signed and, you know, i know my budget, I was in no position to make any kind of promises to anyone.

Lily: Yeah, no, no, no, no. I think that you’re being very prudent on how you’ve approached people. So take your time. I mean, we want this to be right.

Devon: Yeah, of course. I don’t think you should rush anything. I just figured you ought to be ready to roll.

Daniel: I’m still on track. You know, I’m determined now more than ever to make this dream a reality. I’ll find the team. You don’t have to worry.

Devon: Okay.

Daniel: You’re not already regretting saying yes, are you? With downy infusions,

Kyle: It was the year my mom took me to live in canada. I was sad that I couldn’t be here with dad and the rest of the family. I sent them this ornament so they’d remember me and I could be here in spirit.

Summer: Aww, that’s so sweet.

Traci: [ Gasps ] Well, look who’s home from his trip.

Jack: Kyle.

Kyle: Hey, dad. Traci.

Jack: So, how did the meeting go? Did you get the issue straightened out with the fabric house?

Kyle: Yeah, we had to make some compromises, but, by the end, everyone was comfortable. No problems to speak of.

Jack: Good.

Traci: Oh, the tree is gorgeous, summer. You’ve done a fabulous job decorating.

Summer: Oh, thank you. We just have to put up all of your special abbott-family ornaments before we can declare it completely finished.

Traci: Well, I love going through the ornaments every year.

Jack: It’s a wonderful tradition. So full of memories.

Traci: Kyle, I know that this is going to be an extra difficult year for you, your mother having to leave town because of that man, jeremy stark, and it is just breaking my heart, watching you and summer trying to explain to little harrison where his dee dee went.

Summer: That has been rough.

Kyle: Especially knowing she might never come back.

Summer: Not that we’ve told harrison that.

Jack: We won’T. He needs all the reassurance we can give him.

Traci: Well, it sort of feels like our traditions are more important than ever this year, bringing the joy of the season to that precious little boy any way we can. You know, and it’s something that we all need. That and, I don’t know, a christmas miracle or two.

[ Traci and summer chuckle ]

Kyle: Amen.

Traci: So, I am very excited to go through the box of ornaments.

Summer: But first, who wants some eggnog?

Kyle: Oh. Me.

Jack: Oh, I’m definitely in. Trimming the tree is thirsty work.

Summer: Okay, so four eggnogs? Alright, coming right up.

Traci: You know what? I’ll give you a hand.

Jack: So?

Kyle: We’re going to need more than hope for a christmas miracle to end this threat to my mom.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Billy: [ Chuckles ]

Lily: No, daniel, don’t worry. Devon and I are fully committed to helping you realize your vision.

Devon: Absolutely. Nothing has changed.

Daniel: Good. Good.

Devon: Yeah. And we understand, too, that building an entire gaming division from the ground up is a huge undertaking for the company. So we want to take our time and do things the right way.

Daniel: Well, I mean, given the level of competition out there and the risks inherent with any big launch, I can assure you that is exactly what I’m going to do, down to the last detail. Every aspect of this platform has to be seamlessly connected. If one area is weak, the whole thing falls apart. It’s unacceptable. Our flagship game isn’t just a way to spend time. It’s about giving people a believable and exciting world that’s immersive and meaningful, somewhere they can have fun and, at the same time, tackle some of life’s bigger questions, where they can face their fears, and learn to find inspiration and purpose.

Lily: I think that’s what i love most about it.

Daniel: And, listen, since we’re discussing timetable, i want to make a formal announcement in march. Let the world know what’s in store.

Devon: Which is in three months, man. Don’t you think that’s a little unrealistic? Smooth dark chocolate, refreshing peppermint,

Daniel: I promise you, I can get far enough along to announce by march.

Devon: Well, I don’t know how you figure that when you don’t have a team put together yet. We don’t have to rush anything, either. You just said yourself that if any part of the omega-sphere isn’t operating at the highest level, then the whole experience falls short, right?

Daniel: Mm-hmm, that’s true. But I’m going to be as honest and as transparent as I can with you guys for this entire process. If I think that there’s going to be a problem, I’m not going to hesitate to share it with you, because invested as I am in this project, I’m not going to lose sight of what’s at stake for all of us.

Devon: Well, I’m glad to hear that, but still.

Daniel: I realize that I’ve set an ambitious timeline, but I have identified the elements I need, and, I promise you, it’s all going to come together.

Lily: Look, let’s just leave it here, right, and just know that devon and I give you our full support to get whatever talent you need.

Devon: We do. Just keep us abreast on your progress.

Daniel: Done.

Devon: Thank you very much. On that note, I’m gonna take off. I need to get back to dominic.

Lily: How are things going on that front?

Devon: They’re going well. He’s got two little teeth coming in, so it’s fun times.

Daniel: You have to be excited for christmas. I mean, experiencing that magic through a child’s eyes, there’s nothing quite like it.

Lily: I know, and now that he’s older, he can appreciate it more.

Devon: I know, I know. I can’t wait for him to make some real memories.

Lily: Well, give me a kiss for me.

Devon: I will do that for sure. And, daniel, congratulations again, man. I look forward to us all working together.

Daniel: Oh, thanks, man. Me, too.

Devon: Alright, take it easy.

Lily: Bye. Um, I should get going, too, but I just want to say I’m so happy that you’re back in town and that devon and I can help make your dream come true.

Daniel: Thank you for trusting me to make this happen. I won’t let you down.

Tucker: Both gestures were from the heart — the picnic and the offer to help you realize your potential.

Ashley: I see.

But… I guess I knew that earning your trust was going to take time and patience.

Ashley: And then some.

Tucker: My only interest is you, ashley. Your happiness. I’m simply asking you to expand your idea of what that might look like and imagine a future, a bright future if you were on your own.

Ashley: Okay, settle down. I mean, really, jabot’s in our blood, you know, it’s part of our family. It’s part of me. It’s why I came back from europe.

Tucker: Let jack be the legacy, then. You’re the only abbott with the drive to be a maverick like your father was. And you have so much talent and expertise, I think you should go on your own.

Ashley: Then why do I need you?

Tucker: You don’T.

[ Scoffs, sighs ] Just know that you know how good we are together.

Ashley: Okay, well, I guess it’s time for me to go home. And I do want to thank you because it was a lovely and very surprising day. Thank you.

Jack: Oh, boy. Luan gave me this ornament our first christmas together. You know what? I’m going to give this to allie when she comes home. Tell her the history and invite her to hang it on the tree herself.

Traci: Oh, jack, a surprise from a grandmother she never knew. That’s just magical.

Jack: Despite everything that’s going on, I am determined to make this a magical first christmas for the newest abbotts among us.

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Traci: Summer, are you sure that you brought all of the boxes down from the attic?

Summer: I thought I did. Are we missing something?

Traci: I can’t find my favorite ornament. It’s little silver ice skates. Katherine gave it to me when I was 6, and it was in a box that had a blue label along with the star that goes on the top of the tree.

Summer: Want me to go check?

Traci: Oh, no, no. You know, I think I might know right where it is. I will go get it, and I’ll be right back.

[ Chuckles ]

Jack: So, how did things go at the cabin with your mother?

Kyle: She’s settled in. There’s plenty of food, firewood, and things to keep her occupied.

Jack: Oh, boy, this has got to be especially difficult for diane. She’s hiding from the world yet again.

Kyle: My mother was alone for so long, spent so many holidays by herself, and now she’s missing her first christmas with harrison. I could tell she’s trying to stay strong, but I know it’s crushing her.

Summer: [ Sighs ] I feel like I should apologize again for my mom creating all of this chaos. I mean, she lured this dangerous man to town by claiming that diane turned him into the feds without even knowing that that was true. This man could resort to violence. We have no idea. I still think that we should go to the police.

Jack: Listen, stark has been very careful about not breaking the law since he’s been in town. Getting law enforcement involved, I think it’s a mistake. It would only bring more attention on diane. No, kyle and I have a plan, and we are going to see it through. Did you know some of your detergent’s fragrance

Traci: Well, this tree is magnificent.

Summer: It really is.

Traci: I have set aside some ornaments for ashley and for allie. When they get home, they can hang them.

Kyle: And the star belongs to harrison.

Jack: Absolutely.

Traci: I just can’t wait to see that, him up on your shoulders, putting the star on the tippity-top.

Kyle: That’s one of those moments I’m going to treasure.

Traci: Well, listen, as much fun as this has been, until someone else gets home, I think I’m going to go have some drinks with a friend.

Summer: Oh, how fun.

Traci: Oh, I will. Thank you.

Kyle: Here, let me help you.

Traci: Oh, thanks. And, kyle?

Kyle: Mm-hmm?

Traci: Look, for what it’s worth, diane is absolutely devoted to you and to harrison. And she is a fighter. And she has so much to fight for. So I don’t know how, but I just have this feeling that somehow everything is going to work out alright.

Kyle: I appreciate your optimism and the kind words about my mother.

Traci: Alright. Mwah. See you later. Oh.

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Jack: So I think that’s our cue now.

[ Door closes ]

Kyle: I’ll be back soon.

Summer: Please be careful. That goes for you, too.

Jack: Let’s go.

Both: For auld lang syne, my dear

for auld lang syne

we’ll take a cup of kindness yet

for auld lang syne

Chelsea: Wow, I’m really happy connor’s not here.

Billy: Yeah?

Chelsea: He used to love to make fun of me when I would sing in the car.

Billy: That’s good. You should keep doing that.

Chelsea: Tormenting my child’s eardrums?

Billy: That and singing out loud. It’s good for you.

Chelsea: Okay. I will. You know, the world had sort of faded to gray, and it feels like I’m starting to see color again, little by little.

Billy: Yeah, I snuck a couple little glances at you during the movie just to make sure you were okay.

Chelsea: Yeah, I mean, some scenes were difficult to watch, but, ultimately, it’s a story about someone who comes to realize the true value of their life, what a gift it is, what they mean to other people, something I’m feeling really strongly these days. So to answer your question, yeah, I’m okay.

Summer: Mom, you were fired. What are you doing here?

Phyllis: [ Clears throat ] I’m emptying out my office, summer. If you think I’m going to steal something, have security follow me out.

Summer: [ Sighs ] I’m disappointed that it’s come to this, but it has.

Phyllis: You say that like you had nothing to do with it, that my firing had something to do with a natural disaster or something.

Summer: Well, I didn’t really have much say in your decision to bring diane’s recently paroled ex to genoa city, did I?

Phyllis: Okay, well, that was what I did in my personal time. I mean, is it even legal to get fired for something you do in your personal life?

Summer: First of all, yes, it is. It’s called a morality clause. It’s in pretty much every employment contract. And, secondly, mom, you were repeatedly warned that if the conflict with diane continued, that you would be let go.

Phyllis: Well, we weren’t fighting in the office. In fact, I did my best to avoid her.

Summer: But you were scheming with nikki and ashley all the while to drive her out of town.

Phyllis: Yeah, but we never did that on marchetti property, so I played by your rules.

Summer: I am so sick of arguing about this. I’m really hoping, now that you’re not with marchetti anymore, that maybe eventually we can go back to being a family again.

Phyllis: Are you serious? You fired me as an act of solidarity with diane jenkins. You want me to get over it and just move on?

Jack: [ Exhales sharply ]

Jeremy: Well, look who’s here. So serious. Oh, please, come in. I heard your mom left town again. Oh, what a shame.

Kyle: Hey, don’t look so smug about it.

Jack: Hey, simmer down. That’s not going to help us at all. Did you know if you turn to cold with tide

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Are you feeling sluggish

Kyle: How my mother ever allowed herself to get involved with a guy like you, I will never understand.

Jeremy: I wouldn’t expect you to.

Jack: Look, diane got involved in a lot of things in L.A. We didn’t know about. We certainly didn’t expect to be involved in this.

Kyle: Well, you don’t have to worry about it now. She’s gone. Whatever the truth is about what happened between you, you scared her enough where she ran out on us without as much as a goodbye.

Jack: I told you not to do this. This is taking us farther away from why we’re here.

Jeremy: Which is?

Jack: We just want to talk. Look, ever since you came to town, you have been very careful about not breaking the law. You’re too smart for that. Well, I am smart enough to get the message. You apparently can elude security at your will, and you are determined to settle whatever score you have with diane. Diane is gone to. God knows where.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] How convenient.

Jack: Kyle and I had nothing to do with any of your business dealings with diane. We thought she was dead. There is nothing for you here now.

Jeremy: You wouldn’t happen to have stashed her away somewhere until I leave, would you?

Kyle: Hey, it is almost christmas, and my son is in tears, wondering why his grandmother isn’t there, and I have to figure out a way to explain to him when or even if we will ever see her.

Jack: Clearly, this is affecting my family. I would like to straighten this out now. Look, I offered you money before. You turned me down. Now that diane is out of the picture, we are as close as you are going to get to being reimbursed. So let’s work this out. You can go about your business, and we can get back to our lives in peace.

Jeremy: Hm. No promises. But… I’ll consider it.

Summer: I know that it’s going to take time for you to move on.

Phyllis: You know, you talk about being one big, happy family without any irony in your voice at all. It’s truly fantastic. You know, I sold my hotel so I could work with you.

Summer: But it wasn’t really about working together, and you know it.

Phyllis: All I wanted to do was protect you and support you. That’s all I wanted to do, summer. Yeah, it got messy. But something you should know is your hands get messy when you’re a mom and you’re trying to protect the people you love. And that’s what I was trying to do. And contrary to diane’s belief, no, no, it wasn’t about some petty resentment that I had toward her and her getting close to the abbotts and you and jack.

Summer: Mom, don’t try to pretend that that doesn’t bother you.

Phyllis: It bothers me because she’s trying to peddle some sanitized version of her life in los angeles, and she’s lying and I know she’s lying. I’ll never trust her.

Summer: Okay, well, not everyone despises her as much as you do.

Phyllis: Okay, you know what? You know what? That’s, um… yeah, kyle doesn’t despise her. He wants to believe her lies because it’s his mom, so I get it. But it leaves him susceptible to everything that she’s doing. She is lying, one lie after the other, and I’ve exposed everything, but nobody seems to care. And finally she was caught, and what did she do? Huh? She ran. That’s what she did. But she’s mother of the year, isn’t she?

Summer: I didn’t trust her, either. I defended you. But I’m sorry. I can’t justify you lying about kyle’s mom to a convicted criminal to get him to come after her. You put us all in danger, harrison included. And not only that, but you pitted me against my husband. You hurt me, mom. You betrayed me. Because your sole focus was driving diane away. That is why I fired you. This is on you.

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Chelsea: Well, thanks for spending this time with me.

Billy: No need to thank me. I had a good time.

Chelsea: Yeah, me, too. I think christmas is going to be a lot more meaningful this year, considering everything I’ve been through. Oh, and I have a gift for johnny. I haven’t wrapped it yet, but I will give it to you next time I see you. I know my last one was not a great idea.

Billy: Yeah, the baby blanket.

Chelsea: This one will be better.

[ Chuckles ] And you and victoria, you can decide the appropriate time to give it to him.

Billy: Okay.

Chelsea: And if it’s okay with you guys, I’m hoping the boys, johnny and connor, can spend some time together over the holidays.

Billy: Yeah, we’ll see if we can make that work. You know, I’ll talk to victoria about it.

Chelsea: I apologized to her earlier, the way I apologized to you. Seemed to go well, all things considered.

Billy: Good to know.

[ Knock on door ]

Chelsea: I’m hoping that will make victoria more amenable. You know, the boys have a great bond.

Billy: Mm.

Chelsea: I’m hoping we can encourage it. Hi, I’m angela.

Adam: Hi. I hope this isn’t a bad time. I just brought some gifts for you and for, um, connor. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt.

Billy: It’s okay. Just about to head out. Well [Clears throat] Thank you very much. I had a lovely time. And, of course, I’ll see you soon. Plenty of more classic movies to watch.

Chelsea: I’ll be sure to stock up on the popcorn.

Billy: Let me know if you need anything, okay?

Chelsea: Thanks.

Billy: Okay.

Chelsea: Bye.

Billy: Bye. Hey.

Adam: I’m still waiting on a few things for connor, but I figured I would get these to you.

Chelsea: Aww, that’s nice. I’ll be sure to put these out for him.

Adam: Yeah, whatever works.

Chelsea: Oh, I’m very excited for you to see the gift he’s making for you. That kid is creative.

Adam: Oh, I can’t wait. As long as I’m here, I figured that we could just discuss the holidays. I assume that you want to do something low-key and avoid the big newman family gathering.

Chelsea: Actually, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to go. I just saw sharon earlier, and she convinced me it’s time to face the world, even the difficult parts. I have to start trying to live a normal life again.

Phyllis: [ Exhales sharply ]

Tucker: Looks like someone’s having a hell of a day.

Phyllis: Who asked you?

Tucker: No one. It was a comment, not a reply. And I withdraw. Word to the wise — stop fighting the world so hard. The more at peace you are, the more things go your way.

Phyllis: Thanks for that.

Daniel: Mom.

Phyllis: Hey, baby.

Daniel: Hey.

Phyllis: Hey. Oh, my goodness. I’m so glad I ran into you. I’m so glad.

Daniel: You’re smiling so hard, it looks like it hurts. What’s up?

Phyllis: Yeah. Um, hey, let’s go.

Daniel: Talk to me.

Phyllis: Um, okay, well, uh…

[ Sighs ] I’m not working at marchetti anymore.

Daniel: Whoa, whoa. What? Why?

Phyllis: You know, summer and I, we mutually agreed we just have different visions.

Daniel: Uh-huh. Okay. What’s the real story?

Phyllis: Uh, does it matter? I mean, it’s all good. Anyway, the worst part about it is I did so much work. I created the entire division and someone’s just going to jump in and just make it succeed.

Daniel: So you’re free and clear?

Phyllis: Yeah. Thanks. I mean, that is the positive spin.

Daniel: Then come work with me.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: Hi. You got here fast. Do you want a coffee or tea or something?

Lily: Maybe in a minute. Should we sit?

Billy: Yeah.

Lily: Okay.

Billy: [ Clears throat ]

Lily: How’s chelsea doing?

Billy: She’s good. She’s getting stronger every day.

Lily: Good. Sounds positive.

Billy: Yeah, I think so.

Lily: You seemed a little off when I came in. Did something happen?

Billy: Adam happened. He showed up at chelsea’s door, and he oozes misery. And I just don’t think that that’s good for her right now.

Lily: Well, it kind of seems like you think you’re the only one who knows what’s good for her right now.

Kyle: I couldn’t get a read on stark. Could you?

Jack: Like all good liars, he’s very opaque, though I must say, your performance was very believable.

Kyle: That’s because my hatred for him is real. Question is, did he buy it?

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Summer: Please tell me it’s done.

Jack: We did everything we could. Now we wait.

Ashley: Hi. Kyle, you’re back from your business trip. How was it?

Kyle: Uh, g-good. Productive.

Summer: What do you think about the tree?

Ashley: Wow. Did you do that?

Summer: Most of it.

Ashley: Beautiful. You did a fantastic job.

Summer: Thank you. I enjoyed doing it.

Ashley: Okay, so you all got very quiet when I came in. Anybody want to tell me what’s going on?

Skin your face will envy?

Daniel: It is official, as of today. Chancellor-winters will be launching my new gaming platform.

Phyllis: What?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: This is amazing. Congratulations.

Daniel: Thank you. Yeah, I’m just a little excited.

Phyllis: Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Tell me everything.

Daniel: It’s not, you know, just gaming as most people know it. I mean, this is a complex multiverse, and it doesn’t isolate. It expands. And it deals with people’s, like, hopes and their fears and their dreams.

Phyllis: Wow. That’s very cutting edge.

Daniel: Uh-huh. I know. I got a few coders that I’d like to hire. You know, they can get started on the nitty-gritty. But you know what I need? What I need is a heavy hitter. I need someone senior that can come in, they can build, they can manage the team of designers, all the tech people. I need someone I can trust, someone who can see to the day-to-day stuff while I’m staying focused on the big picture. Someone like you.

Phyllis: I love that, because, you know, your sister doesn’t seem to trust me, so…

Daniel: Well, I don’t agree with her. I see things differently. Look, you are an avid gamer. You’re also a hacker from back in the day.

Phyllis: Shh.

Daniel: You love this world. You know the languages inside and out. I mean, this makes sense. I would love for you to join me on this.

Billy: You know, you almost sounded a little…

Lily: Hostile? I mean, maybe so. I just — I don’t feel like i know at all what’s going on inside your head these days.

Billy: Because you have a problem with how much time I’m spending with chelsea.

Lily: No, billy, like I said, this is not just about chelsea, and this is way too big for us to ignore. So if you want to work on this relationship, if you still care about it —

Billy: Lily, yes, of course i do.

Lily: Well, then I think that we need help. I think that we should go to couple’s counseling.

Billy: Okay, what I hear you saying is that you think I’m heading off the rails again.

Lily: No, no. This is not about you. This is about us. And this is really, really important to me. And I don’t feel confident that we can handle this on our own.

Billy: Okay. Yes, let’s do that. Let’s, um… let’s set something up for after the holidays.

Lily: Thank you.

Jack: The only thing we are up to is trimming the tree and trying to engender some holiday spirit.

Kyle: We left some more amounts for you to hang.

Summer: Yeah, traci has them in this box over here.

Ashley: Oh, well, how sweet. Well, okay, then. I guess it’s been a long day. I’m going to go upstairs and take a bath.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Summer: How did things go with stark?

Jack: He said he would consider my offer.

Kyle: There’s no telling how long he will drag this out for.

Summer: Or if we could even trust him.

Kyle: I’m thinking about going back up to the cabin so my mom doesn’t feel so abandoned tomorrow.

Summer: On christmas eve?

Jack: Wait, kyle, I know you want to do this for diane, but I think that’s risky.

Jeremy: I still have business here genoa city. No, I have some stuff here I need to take care of on my own.

Kyle: I’ll be careful to fly under the radar. Stark won’t have a clue.

Jack: You hope.

Summer: Kyle, I really wish you would reconsider.

Kyle: You didn’t see the tears in my mother’s eyes when i said goodbye to her earlier. I can’t stand the thought of her being up there alone, not on christmas.

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Kyle: [ Sighs ]

Next week on “the young and the restless”…

Victor: That’s up to adam, you know? He’s the one who turned his back on us. If he wants to be back in the fold, then let him make the move.

Tessa: Well, we’re meeting with a pregnant woman after new year’s to discuss the possibility of adoption.

Sharon: Wow, really? That’s amazing.

Daniel: Dad?

Danny: Merry christmas, son. [ Chuckles ]

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Rory! Rory! Oh, my god, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry, rory.

[ Trina crying, monitors beeping ] It was…too soon… to tell you how I feel.

[ Crying ] But… I’m not sorry. When you know… you know.

[ Monitors blaring ] Rory?! Rory!? Rory! Rory! Rory! Finn: Going into v-fib! Portia: No pulse!

[ All shouting ] Charging 200. Let’s get a bag, please! Go, go, go! Let’s go. Charging. Clear!

[ Defibrillator charging ] Hey, trina. Finn: Clear!

[ Crying ] Mother. Nikolas. I was just heading over to the island. Now we can ride over together. Hey. Is something wrong? I just — I — I wish you would’ve called first. There is something wrong. Okay, talk to me. What’s going on? I don’t understand this. What is going on? I had an affair with elizabeth.

[ Voice breaking ] What were you getting from elizabeth that you didn’t get from me? My child. Elizabeth is pregnant, ava. She’s having our baby. Nikolas. You look like you lost your best friend.

[ Laptop beeps ] Nikolas: I, nikolas cassadine, being of sound mind and body… it’s ava. Don’t talk. Just listen. I, nikolas cassadine, being of sound mind and body, do hereby acknowledge and confess that I and I alone am responsible for the disappearance of esme prince. I know this because I killed her.

[ Laptop beeps ] Do I have your attention? Oh, good, good. Then come to the gallery right now. Oh, damn. Anna? You okay? Ugh! What? No. I — I’m not okay. I burnt myself. I’m seriously not okay. You know, we’ve been on the run ever since we escaped from ireland, and what do we have to show for it? Nothing. We have no evidence that lucy is alive. And even if she was, we wouldn’t know where to find her. [ Sighs ] I just… I worry we’re never gonna get back to the people who love us. Could be worse. How, exactly? I could have burned

my finger. Oh, my god. You’re ridiculous. Things can only go up from here. Hey, trina, listen to me. My mom, your mom, and finn are the best at what they do, and I’m sure they’re doing everything they can to make sure that rory is okay.

[ Crying ] No, no, no! No! I can’t just wait here! Why hasn’t somebody just told us that he’s okay?! Why hasn’t someone — hey. Why hasn’t somebody — they’re in there. They’re in there right now, working on rory. That means there’s still hope. They have to save him. They have to. They have to.

[ Coughing/sneezing ]

[ Door knocking ] Dude, you coming?

Why don’t we go someplace quiet, where you could forget you’re the mayor for 5 minutes, and I — I could forget that I’m a cassadine. Oh. We’ll have plenty of time to talk on the ride over. Besides, I really do need to check in on spencer. No, you — you can’T. What? I can’t see my grandson? I just meant he’s not at wyndemere right now. Oh, alright. Well, then I’ll ask you — how is it that he was able to get out of pentonville three weeks early? Would you believe good behavior?

[ Laughing ] No, I wouldn’T. What really happened? I mean, who was pulling the strings with that? I’ll give you three guesses, but I bet you could figure it out in one.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ] You’re late. I came as soon as you called. And for future reference, I don’t like being summoned. Well, what you call being summoned, I call doing you a favor. Would you care to join me for a drink? Given your current mood, I’m not sure I should. Oh, no need to worry. Seven parts vodka, one part vermouth, and not a drop of arsenic. Well, in that case, what’s the occasion? To what are we drinking? Your wish has finally come true. My marriage to nikolas is over. He’s divorcing me. Trina, you know what a good doctor your mom is. Same with doc finn. And I can promise you, they’re doing everything in their power to save rory.

[ Crying ] I know. It’s the only thing that’s giving me hope. Because the last thing… that he said to me… and what I didn’t say back to him…

[ Sobbing ] Dr. Robinson, is there an update? I’m so sorry, baby.

[ Crying ] I’m sorry. No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!

[ Sobbing ] No, no, no!

You and portia did everything you could for him. It just wasn’t enough. Hey, can I talk to you for a second? Yeah. Of course. Was rory attacked because of his connection to trina, or was he just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Oh, I-I don’t know, joss, it’s, like, too soon to know. Okay. Okay. But it fits the pattern, right? Everybody who’s been attacked, except for brando, has some connection to trina. Rory, they were dating. Look, all I can tell you is that we’re chasing down every lead. Okay? And I promise you, we’re gonna catch this killer. I can’t believe this. Yeah. Rory had so much to live for. I want to see him. Honey, you don’t want that to be the last image that you have of rory. Besides this, uh — this is now a criminal investigation. Rory said goodbye to me. Now it’s my turn. I just want to say goodbye. Please. I-I promise I won’t touch anything. I understand, trina. Detective falconeri will go with you. Yeah, of course. What I don’t understand is victor already had spencer’s loyalty, so why would he need to get him out of jail three weeks early? Things have only gotten worse between me and spencer, and victor, seeing himself as the head of the family, he stepped in. I mean, he’s convinced that if the three of us live under the same roof at wyndemere, it’s gonna improve family relations. Well, I must tell you that when I visited spencer in pentonville, he did let on that things were a lot worse between the two of you, but he wouldn’t tell me why. I just told him that he should talk with you. It’s not that easy. Why, nikolas? What happened? I betrayed all of the people that I love the most. Ava: I don’t understand. Why aren’t you toasting my divorce? Isn’t this what you’ve been angling for all along? I can’t pretend I’m not relieved that the two of you have finally come to your senses. You implied that nicolas was ready to move on from me, and I didn’t believe you. Turns out you were right. Do you know the gory details? Well, I — I know that nikolas slept with esme. I’m not talking about esme. I’m talking about elizabeth baldwin. Elizabeth? What about her? Well, nikolas has been having sex with her for some time. Ah. I always suspected as much. I just didn’t know for sure. Did you also suspect that she’s carrying his child? Mm! Oh, my gosh. We’re not going to be able to solve everything with romance, you know? I think it’s worth a shot.

[ Laughs ] Did you? But… I feel like we owe it to marty to try to find lucy. You know we do. Because he practically sacrificed himself so that we could get away from whitten. Well, we’re not going to find her tonight, are we? And meanwhile, I’ve discovered a truly excellent case of chateau margaux in the cellar, and in the pantry, all the ingredients I need to make my world-famous beef bourguignon. Is it world famous? Charlotte likes it. Okay. And what do you think you’re going to rustle up for dessert? Creme brulée? Crepes suzette? Cherries jubilee? Or we could just go to bed. Trina, we are so sorry for your loss. Thanks for trying. I just wish we could have done more. I, uh, found this in rory’s pocket. Is it yours? Elizabeth, you, uh — you mind? I’m so glad I got to know you, rory. I’m sorry I couldn’t say the things that came so easily for you. And now there’s no time to say them. You’re, uh, thinking about nathan. At a time like this, I can’t help but remember all of the officers we’ve lost over the years. Well, if you want to talk about it, I’m here to listen. Thanks, but I need to call rory’s parents. Hey. How’s trina? Oh, baby. Oh.

[ Shakily ] Honey. You ready for me to take you home? I just — I just need to be alone.

Why?

[ Crying ] This doesn’t make any sense. All rory wanted to do was help people. His heart was so big. So much bigger than mine. Why did you take him?! I don’t get it!

[ Crying ] Do you think that we could go someplace private and talk? Oh, um… I’m sorry. Trina needs me. You okay? Yeah. I-I’m thinking about myself when I really should be thinking about rory. Yeah. Just the other day, I saw rory at the pc grill with trina, and I was so envious of him. Now I feel like a complete jerk. Spencer. It is not your fault that you love trina, too. When you say that you betrayed everyone, are you referring to the fact that you cheated on ava? Or is it something else, nikolas?

[ Cellphone ringing ] Oh, damn. I’m so sorry, honey. Ugh, I have to take it. Jordan, hi. What’s up? Oh, my god. That’s horrible. Okay. I’ll head right over to general hospital right now. Yeah. Thank you for telling me. What happened? The pcpd lost a very good man in the line of duty. I’m sorry, nikolas, but I really do have to go over to general hospital now. Listen to me. Whatever is happening over there at wyndemere, just promise me you won’t forget what matters the most. Okay? Yeah. It’s gonna be alright. I love you. Love you. Wait a minute. Are you — are you sure elizabeth baldwin is pregnant with nikolas’s baby? You underestimated your nephew. He didn’t just move on from me. He’s starting a whole new family. Well, I can only imagine how you must feel, but… why, if nikolas is capable of jumping from your bed to esme’s and then to elizabeth’s, then, for heaven’s sakes, your marriage was doomed before it even began. Look, the sooner you put this whole ugly incident behind you, the better. You’re all heart. Now, moving forward, you and I both know that a divorce can happen one of two ways — quick and easy or slow and bloody. And you may have nikolas’s written confession, but I have this. Nikolas: The means? I did it with my own two hands, tossing her over the parapet of wyndemere, my family’s estate on spoon island. The motive? Revenge. Justice. Guilt. Take your pick. Esme prince was my son spencer’s girlfriend, and I had sex with her. Now, I know how much you value your family name, and if you think this video won’t come out in divorce court, think again. I thought your son was exceptional. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

[ Telephones ringing in distance ] How’re you d oing? Not great. [ Sighs ] I was just breaking the news to roy’s parents. They are understandably hysterical. We might have gotten a lead. This was in rory’s pocket. Is it trina’s? No. Elizabeth asked her if it was hers. She said it wasn’T. Dr. Robinson, dr. Finn, nurse baldwin, I need to speak with you. What are you thinking? I spoke to the lab. Pending the postmortem, they ran rory’s bloodwork. Finn: And? They found trace amounts of snake venom. Which means that potentially, esme is at it again. No, that’s impossible.

Elizabeth, why do you thinkesme prince can’t be the hook killer? I just don’T. And I mean, cameron — cameron, come here for a minute, please. He doesn’t think it could be her either. Cameron: That’s true. Spencer: Commissioner, cam said that esme struggled with his mother. That doesn’t remotely prove that esme stabbed and killed a bunch of people. And, uh, cameron’s not the only one who believes that. Elizabeth: She had her chance to kill me and she didn’t, so doesn’t that mean she might not be the killer? I wouldn’t be so sure. Mayor collins. Jordan. We’re so sorry. Thank you. Officer cabrera was only a rookie, but he was well-respected, and I saw a very long and bright future ahead for him. It’s just awful. Laura. Yeah? Have you spoken with nikolas? Uh, yes. As a matter of fact, I just left him on the pier. He was headed back to wyndemere. Why do you ask? Excuse me. I — I have something I have to take care of. Cameron, I want to make sure you get home safely. I-I’ll be okay. It’ll be fine. I’ll make sure he gets home. Okay. Thank you. Mom, what’s going on? I’ll tell you when I get back. I know getting nikolas to confess on tape must have seemed like a winning strategy to you at the time. What does that mean? Well, it means that if you were to show this evidence to a court now, I very much doubt you’d get the closure you’re looking for. Nikolas confessed to a murder. What kind of judge wouldn’t be affected by that? Yeah, well, unfortunately for you, elizabeth baldwin saw esme alive and well. Now, granted, no one knows where she is right now, but according to your timeline, nikolas confessed to killing someone who’s not actually dead. And that raises a whole host of questions. Mainly, why would nikolas confess to a crime he didn’t commit? Well, I guess the obvious answer is that he is trying to protect you, because he believed you had tried to kill esme. Esme and I were struggling over a letter, and she just did a little flip off the parapet. I had nothing to do with it. It was an accident. Yeah, well, when a court finds out that just moments before that struggle, you had found out that esme had had sex with your husband, who’s gonna believe it was an accident, hmm? But if I open pandora’s box, who knows what’s gonna come out? If you want to risk the spotlight being shown on your duplicitous family. Ha. Alright. I’ll bite. What do you want? This is what nikolas offered me as a settlement. Whoa. My nephew is very generous.

[ Laughs ] Not nearly generous enough, in my opinion. Now, if you want an amicable divorce, you’re gonna need to sweeten the pot exponentially. Oh, but I just want to get lost in us. Do you know what I mean? Just pretend that the whole rest of the world has gone away. It’s just us. But if lucy really is in danger, you know. Well, I haven’t chosen this location completely at random. Oh. You mean that we’re living in this drafty old windmill in the middle of winter on purpose? A drafty old windmill not far from amsterdam, which is one of the diamond capitals of the world, where I just so happen to know a certain diamond dealer who’s not all that particular when it comes to choosing his clients. I take it that he wouldn’t be above doing business with victor. My father likes collecting things. I think with the right amount of persuasion… and a great deal of money, I’m sure. He might be able to tell us where lucy is. Oh, my god. That’s amazing. What are we waiting for? No, no, no, we can’t be too eager. That would send up a red flag. We have to appear aloof. I was born aloof. We’ll reach out to the jeweler tomorrow. Tomorrow? What are we gonna do today? We’re gonna keep each other warm. You know, you don’t have to be strong for everyone.

[ Crying ] I, um… honestly don’t even know how I’m feeling right now. It’s just so complicated.

[ Stammers ] I mean, as a doctor, yes, you hate to lose a patient. You feel so much guilt, thinking that there’s more that you could have done. But as trina’s mom? Her boyfriend was murdered. And I-it’s — [Sighs] It’s heartbreaking. And I don’t know rory’s family. I don’t know his parents, but I can’t imagine what they’re going through right now. Honey, he was so young. He had so much more life left to give. I know. It’s just not fair.

[ Crying ] Dante, make sure that earring goes down to forensics in case it turns out to be a lead. There could be dna or fingerprints on it. Will do. Hey. I tried to pray, but I didn’t know what to say. You will. It’s too late. I had the chance to say what rory wanted me to say. What I should have said… when we went to the pc grill, rory told me he loved me. And I didn’t say it back. I couldn’T.

[ Sighs ] Because you weren’t ready.

[ Crying ] That does not make you bad. It just makes you honest. Honesty hurts. I know. [ Sighs ] Believe me, I know. Rory was so gentle… so kind, so brave. He gave his life… why couldn’t I have given him what he wanted? Maybe if I had… maybe he wouldn’t have taken the risk and — and lost his… no, voicemail. Nikolas, it’s me. You need to call me back right away. I’m afraid you’re about to walk into a trap.

[ Indistinct conversations, telephones ringing ] So, tell me, commissioner, how’s your day been? Back at you, dr. Finn. But since we both have a job to do, there’s gonna be a coroner’s report. Anything else you want to tell me?

[ Blows ]

[ Sighs ] Do you think he knows? Rory? Wherever he is… do you think he knows that I won’t forget about him? Well, I know that I’ll never forget oscar. That’s gotta keep him alive somehow. Even if there’s someone else. My mom says that you have to learn how to love, and you might not get it right the first time or the next time or the time after that, but if you keep putting yourself out there, one day, there’s a chance that it will work out. Like algebra.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah, like algebra. Both of my grandsons. Even if it is under tragic circumstances. Were you guys friends with officer cabrera? What’s that look about? Well, he was trina’s boyfriend, so I hung out with him a couple times. Okay. Not so much for me. Yeah. We wanted to support trina. That’s nice. Uh, be right back. Look, I was planning on calling you tonight to let you know that I got released from pentonville early, but then when we heard the news about rory… it’s okay, hon. It’s really okay. I understand. I was actually talking with your dad about your early release just a little bit ago. Then you know that I take after him.

[ Laughs ] Well, if you mean that you’re both stubborn and you act before you think — no, more like everything I touch causes somebody else pain. Isn’t that a little bit melodramatic, even for you, spencer? No. Because all of this with rory and everything that trina is going through, that’s all on me. How is that possible? Because I’m the one who brought esme to town. Think about everything that’s happened. It’s all gone to hell. The sex tape of joss and cam, trina going on trial, and now all these hook attacks. Listen, spencer, you can’t help trina or anybody else if you’re blaming yourself. Don’t you blame me, grandmother? No, I don’T. No, you’re not responsible for the things that esme does. I don’t blame you at all, spencer. I have faith in you. You’re a much better person than you think you are. Trelegy for copd. Birds flyin’ high, you kn ow how I feel. Breeze driftin’ on by… …you know how I feel. You don’t have to take…

[Coughing]

I know this is just a fantasy, but it would be so nice, wouldn’t it? What, life in a windmill?

[ Laughs ] Skating on the canals in the winter time. Yeah, picking tulips in the spring, and without a care in the world. That does sound nice. It does. Even if it’s just a fantasy. Yeah. We can come back, you know. Yeah. But first, we have to find lucy and bring her home. Home. I’ve lived in so many cities in the world, but when robin said that she wanted to take her whole family to california… the concept of home I-is just lost on me now. Wherever I am, when I’m with you… …it feels like home. What have I ever done to make you have faith in me? During trina’s trial, you knew that if you gave her an alibi, that it might end up putting you in prison, but you testified anyway. I believe in that young man. You know, you were going down the wrong road for a little while there, but you have turned it around. I believe in you. Even if you don’t believe in yourself right now. I love you. Ava has reason to believe that esme isn’t guilty for all the hook attacks, which means she couldn’t have done this to rory. All we can do is trust the police to figure it out. Hey, trina, your mother is anxious to take you home. Okay. Hey. At this point, you know everything I know. Then go home, dr. Finn. Go be with your daughter. Your work is done here. Something tells me yours is not. I’m really sorry for your loss. Thank you.

[ Indistinct conversations in distance ] Hey, joss. Hey. How about I take you home? Yeah, I’d like that. Cam: Dante. Yeah. Do you mind if I got a minute with joss before you guys head out? Yeah, of course. C’mon, spence, let’s give ’em some, uh, space, yeah? So before everything went down tonight, you said you had something important to tell me. Oh, yeah, um, but it can wait. I mean, I can’t really think about anything other than what happened to rory right now, so… what was that all about? I do not know. What about you? Did you tell our grandmother that you’re leaving port charles? No. Because things have changed. Whatever I can do, I want to be there for trina. And I’m not going anywhere until esme is found. I guess I needed a little christmas spirit, just like you did. It’s almost perfect. The only thing missing is an angel on top. Elizabeth, um, would you like to help us? I didn’t know you were here. I’m confident we can come to an arrangement that satisfies all parties involved. Well, I’ll need to see the exact offer in writing, of course. Of course. In the meantime, I truly am sorry that your love story had to end this way. No, you’re not. This is just the ending you wanted. To true love.

[ Glass shatters ] Elizabeth, what’s the matter? You look like you saw a ghost. Did esme leave her room tonight? No, of course not. Are you absolutely sure? Yes, I’m sure. Why? Because a cop is dead, stabbed to death by a hook. Nikolas, don’t you see what this means? I gave up finn, you gave up ava. THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

So you and Marlena were fighting about me white smack dab in the middle of Horton Square, and it got all heated and everything. You’re joking right? I wish Milick got so loud and looked around. All the Christmas shoppers were just standing and. I don’t understand. Why were you two fighting about me?

Did you just say you’re quitting your job at basic life effective immediately. Okay, Eric, come on. Come on. You had one rough night. All right. I know you feel bad about missing some photos. I do feel bad, but it’s not the reason why I’m leaving. All right. What is it? What is it? Is it schedule? Just tell me.

I’ll fix. Listen, there’s nothing you can fix, Brady. I just don’t wanna work with Nicole. Why not? I know it’s a lot of hours to spend with your girlfriend, but it’s, she’s not my girlfriend.

Not anymore. Cole and I broke up.

I can’t imagine why Johnny went, he knows his grandmother’s service is about to start. Yes, he does. I saw him outside. He, he said he wouldn’t come in with me yet because he was looking for a woman. What woman? Ava, how is this possible? And they, they said nobody could survive that crash. I guess I’m hard to kill.

So what did you just spend in Salem this whole time? So my dad said he saw you at the crash site. He’d been drinking a lot. He thought it was a hallucination, but it was real. What do you think? Wait, wait, wait, wait. So, so if. Survive the crash. Does that mean my grandma’s alive too? I’m afraid not. I mean, how, look, after we went through the guard real, I jumped out of the car.

Susan did not, Hey, but what’s going on? Why are, why are you here? Why are you dressed and in a disguise? Why would he be chasing down some woman? I do not know. I saw him earlier and. Peter ran off shrinking a little of our conversation to go after her. Well, whatever it was about, I could have waited until after mother serves.

Where are you? I ticking.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Okay. According to this update, all of the shipments have been rero. and our subsidiary should receive everything they need by tomorrow night. Great. So Christ is averted, right? . Ask me again once the deliveries have been made. 10 million worth of merchandise. That is a lot of boxes. Mm. Well, I’m optimistic.

Mm. One of the things I love about you That and your ability to navigate a global network of distribution centers. From your keyboard calling. Thank you. No thanks. Necessary. I mean, we needed to handle this crisis and I didn’t want supply chain and issue to keep EJ from his mother’s service. Yeah. Well, I appreciate it and I don’t think I should keep you here any longer, so go enjoy your day.

I will Take care of the tracking myself. I’m no, I don’t mind staying. You sure? Unless there’s somewhere else you’d rather be. No, no. There is nowhere. Uh, not anymore, at least. Um, Brady and I were supposed to be in New York tonight. He got us tickets to one of my all-time favorite operas, and they don’t perform it that often, so it was special.

Hmm. And then got a new dress and new shoes. We were gonna meet my mother for an early dinner. You know, you were really looking forward. Yeah, I was until Brady ducked me for your sister. So you and Nicole broke up. I’m not sure we were ever back together. We were obviously upset the other day when you came to the office and wanted to talk to her alone.

I just assumed you were having some kind of a disagreement. Listen, it’s a lot more to it than that. Things aren’t easy for you too right now, especially the fact that Jade is. Great. Immediately. Look, you, you, you were so confident before that you’d be able to do this man that you could co-parent and be with Nicole at the same time.

What the hell happen? Things changed. I get it. It’s a complicated situation. Nicole’s gonna feel insecure about the fact that you’re having a baby with your ex. Right? Right. But you please can’t give up. You gotta reassure her that Nicole’s alone that you love and Jada’s gonna be the mother of your child.

And Nicole has to get used to the fact that the family is not gonna look the way she thought it was gonna be. Okay. But please, and, and you guys have been through challenges before. You got through so much more than this. All right. All right. Just, just stop. What, here’s some more. Nicole, she talked Jade into heaven.

An abortion,

uh, this woman Johnny ran after. Must have been pretty important. I’m pretty beautiful. Are you glad that my grand nephew is having lusting thoughts in this holy. I was just speculating. Ladies, please, can someone just tell me if Johnny said anything else? Well, all he said to me was he, he called after her and she didn’t turn around, so he never had a chance to talk to her.

Well, this is very disconcerted. As I said, I saw him earlier and, uh, I didn’t see any woman. Well, maybe at a vision of the Virgin Mary. The blessed mother would never appear to a demara. No finish untaken from experience. I can tell you if any one of us were to hallucinate, we’d most likely see someone evil.

I’m here because I wanted to pay my respects to your grandmother, and I’m incognito because I didn’t think I’d exactly be. I’m not sure I’d buy that. Oh, you think your family wants to see me ? Definitely not. What I can’t believe is that you have any interest in honoring my grandmother, considering what you did there, her.

Okay. I am truly sorry that your grandmother ended up as collateral damaging the war between your father and myself, but it is a war. He started when he tried to make me leave town. I’m sorry, but I could not stand for that. And if I recall correctly, you couldn’t either.

Whew. Look, we wait. The longer my sister languish isnt purgatory. Now we need to reunite my sister with our Lord and Savior right away, but Johnny’s still not back, but that is a shame. But the kingdom of heaven win. You’ll have to leave my sister’s arrival to the pearl gates one minute longer.

I’m sorry. Brady ruined a plant for tonight. Yeah, that’s okay. He already ruined our entire future. What’s one opera, . I’m sorry. I’m having a moment. Oh, no. It’s okay. Brady hurt you badly. You’re allowed to be upset, but I was under the impression that you were getting over it. I am. I mean, I know he only ended things with me and move Kristen in because it’s what’s best for Rachel.

At least that’s what he claims. Hmm. You don’t believe it? Well, I believe that Brady wants what’s best for Rachel, but. He also knows that he can co-parent without co-habitating and moving Kristen in so soon. It just makes me think that he’s had feelings for her this entire time. I’m sorry. It seems to be weighing very heavily on you, but I promise by New Year’s you have forgotten all about Brady.

How can you be so sure he does once I whisk you off to Miami? We spend our days on the most beautiful beaches and our nights in the finest restaurants. You won’t have a spare second to think about Brady.

How’s that sound? Pretty damn good.

Man. Hey, I’m sorry I had no idea you were dealing with. It’s all right. Thank you, Steve.

That’s probably not in the business, but I’m gonna put in my 2 cents because I’m your brother and I love you. So here it comes. Wasn’t Nicole wrong in talking to Jada about her pregnancy? Yeah. But from everything you’ve told me, it sounds like Jada made the decision that was best for her. So to try to blame Nicole for somehow talking her into it, I think that would be unfair.

Brady, the decision about the abortion was, it was up to Jada. Let’s not forget. Nicole went behind my back and gave Jada this whole speech about single motherhood and how hard it would be. That doesn’t really matter. Why didn’t, why did you break up? We broke up because of the same reason we got divorced.

We’re different. We’re not good for each other anymore. I mean, we got it all wrapped up in this whole forbidden love and we didn’t follow through with that and we came crash into the earth. And you remembered why it didn’t work out, Heidi? Nonstop. In fact, we actually got in a fight earlier this morning.

She trailed me over to Sloan Peterson’s and she laid into me for sleeping with. I’m sorry, what? Someone offered to take on my case, you know, thing led to another, why are you looking at me like, uh, sorry. I’m just, uh, proof. I’m surprised. Sure. That’s the path you want to go down. It’s not like I can turn back now.

Eric. Eric, look, she’s attractive. I’ll give you that, but her reputation is abysmal. Did you hear him about what she did? To, to, to, to Paul, Lena and, and chan. And indirectly to Abe. I mean, I don’t know if, do you really want to get messed up with a person like this? Oh, that’s real, really classic. Coming from a guy who’s shacking up with Chris and Damara,

I shouldn’t say anything. Oh, come on John. If you and Marlene are fighting about me, I deserve the right to know. Hey, it’s obviously on your mind, or you wouldn’t have brought it up, so why don’t you just tell me,

doc wants to kick you out of the house, and I have a problem with that. Oh, really? Mm-hmm. . Mm. Because you weren’t exactly welcoming me with open arms. I know. I know. I know. When you first moved in here, I had my suspicions, but let’s just say that I’ve kind of softened my stance. How so? This whole idea that you are solely here to suck Brady back in.

I don’t see that, but it’s all the doxys. I mean, she was, I called one night for the night. I came back here. When I came here. You know, this is because she has these worries here and what they’re doing is blinding her to what is really going on For, for example, the other night we came home from dinner, walked in here, Brady had his arm around you.

Okay. Right, right, right. Okay, hold on. But that, he was just comforting me overseas. Exactly. But. Doc, she jumps to this long conclusion. Says there she is. She’s manipulating Brady again. I bet she gave you an ear pull about that, didn’t you? Well, no, she did. She did? Yeah. She warned me that my schemes would never work.

And see that is, that’s so unfair. You were just upset over losing a friend. Right? Yeah. I knew she must to, uh, kick me out of the house only cause she doesn’t understand why Brady broke up with Chloe and moved you in. And now that he has, she thinks that you’re getting too close to Brady and he’s in danger of falling for you all over again.

And what do you think? I think you belong with your daughter.

Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. I was pretty upset when I found out that my dad kicked you out now. I am starting to think he might have done the right thing. What is that supposed to mean? This war between you two? He didn’t start it. You did. When you faked your marriage to my uncle Jake, you said that you understood that and you said it didn’t matter because Jake wanted to marry.

I was wrong. I was wrong. You, you tried to defraud my. You lied to us. You stole from us. I was wrong. I was wrong to defend you, Jonathan. Where? Where is this coming from? I mean, the day that your father threw me out, you were furious with him. You were as angry at him as I was. Yeah. That was before you killed my grandmother.

Shall we begin? Not yet. Ali, please. With all due respect Aunt Mary Marra, we are not starting this ceremony until my son walks through that door. I’ll give you off the sale for me. Stupid. Well, that’s not Johnny. No, I’m Trip Johnson and This’s the summer Bitch. You killed my mom.

I think your computer wants your attention can wait. Not if it’s about the crisis we’re trying to avert. Right. I said when the shipments went out

and, and. Everything is on its way. Ah, there we go. Success. Nice. Now if I hurry, I can make Susan’s memorial in time. I’m sure EJ would appreciate that. I’d be happy to go with you. Oh, you don’t have to do that. No, I want to, uh, I wanna pay my respects to Susan. She was always really kind to me, but if you’d rather go alone No, no, no, of course not.

Besides, I love having you by my. Okay, let’s go then. Let’s go. Yeah. Cute

trip. EJ didn’t kill Ava. Her death was an accident. She drove off the road. Yeah, with EJ in Hopper Pursuit. He hated my mom. You wanted her gone permanently. So you forced her to crash. That’s. My mother was in that car as well. I was trying to catch up to them to rescue her. I wanted Ava to stop. That’s the truth, ej.

Save it. All right. The last person I wanna hear from is the Tramp who slept in my mom’s boyfriend behind her back.

Susan, his death. But I didn’t kill her. No, I thought she didn’t kidnap her. No, that I did. Why? Why would you do that? I wasn’t gonna let EJ damara push me around, turn tail and disappeared just because he told me to. That is not who I am. I needed to hurt him as much as he hurt me. So you used an innocent woman as a weapon?

Look, EJ Damara, he disrespected me. He needed a gun. He wired you 30 million. And then my grandmother showed up at the airfield. You dragged her off at gunpoint. Why You got exactly what you wanted. Why couldn’t you just leave? Why couldn’t he have just paid me the money? He did? No, he didn’t. First he had to kidnap trip.

You think I belong with my daughter? Does that mean you think I belong with Brady? Oh, I didn’t say that. Yeah, but you don’t want my lineage. Kick me out of the house. Let’s, let’s just say the doc and I, we have a, a fundamental difference of opinion about you. Okay. Which is she thinks you’re a really bad person, and I do.

Would you not shacking up with Kristen Joy? You are living with her. We’ve been over this many times. Okay. I moved her into the house cause I thought it was best for Rachel. That’s all. There’s nothing romantic going on with Christopher. We’re not even sleeping in the same room. Okay. That’s exactly how it started last time.

What are you talking about? Kristen was pregnant when she convinced you to move her into the Carus Palace. Okay. Okay. It was a high risk pregnancy. She needed support. It was either move her in or have Dr. Rolf move in with her. Okay? You think I should sign up for that? All right. The point is she manipulated you.

She warmed her way into your house and then into your bed. There is zero chance, Kristin finding her way into my bed. It’s not gonna happen. Brady, you’re so attracted to Aren. I’m attracted to vodka too. All right. But I managed to control myself because I know the road leads to disaster. Okay? It’s one thing when Christian’s on the run and behind bars, you’re living under the same roof.

Get real Brady. It’s only a matter of time before you can’t find it anymore. Am I attracted to her? Maybe. Okay. Maybe always will be, but I’m not gonna go anywhere near her, Eric, not after what she did. What are you talking about, Brady? What does she do?

Hey, do not speak to Nicole like that. If you want to be angry at someone, be angry at me. Oh, I’m angry with you. All right. I’m freaking en raped. I got language. We are the house of God. I am so sorry. Trip. I understand that you are dealing with a great deal of pain. Well, you pay that you. You were to blame for all of this.

You selfish, sadistic bastard. None of this would’ve happened if you hadn’t ordered my mom to leave town an order that left her alive and well, and it should have stayed that way. But Ava escalated the situation by kidnapping my mother, no ej. You escalated it by kidnapping me.

My father kidnapped trip. Oh, I’m guessing he left that part out. It is the God’s honest truth. He hired a couple of goons to take my son hostage in Seattle. Is he all right? Stephen Kayla rescued him, thank God. But if they hadn’t, who, who knows what would’ve happened? So you see, I am not the only one who dragged an innocent person into this.

Your father tried to one up me and here we’re, but you said trip’s. Okay. Yeah. Stop. So your son was free. He still had my grandmother. My father would’ve done anything. So you get her back and said you drove her off a cliff. Why?

It’s. EJ had me kidnapped. I assume it’s because you didn’t wanna pay your own mother’s ransom. It’s not like you couldn’t afford it, you just didn’t wanna part with the money.

I was so bloody certain that I could get my mother back without having to pay the ransom. I mean, how hard could it be to Outsmart Ara Vitali, right? . You see, he, he’s not even deny. God, you are a penny pinching, power hungry piece of scum, and you cheated out in your own mother. You bullied mine and now they’re both dead.

That is enough now, won’t you stand there arguing. My sister soul hangs in the village. Now I will not listen to another word. Father,

you don’t think I’m a bad. You know, and I really don’t thank doctors either. It’s just that when it comes to you and Brady, I think her view is a little old, I don’t know, colored by our romantic best, or maybe she thinks that your view of me is colored by a romantic past, figuring out I might be. A little biased, but then again, I remember who you were when I first met you, Kristin Blake, for crying out loud, you were a social worker,

Can you believe it? Yeah, I can. I was there. I saw you in action. You, you remember that summer we did the little league team with the kids . I know. And you came and helped out and Oh my gosh. Wow. I might have helped them between the lines. You were so great. No, you were. I had no idea. But you were the one who made a difference in their lives.

You made a difference on a lot of people’s lives. And see, that’s not the work of a bad person. That was a long time, John.

Yeah, true.

I thought, you know, it’s like I said, When you first moved in here, I didn’t know what your motives were. The longer that you’ve been here, my, my concerns have started to fade cause I see it. I see her, the, the other Kristen, the, the good. Kristen. Kristin, I fell in love with.

What did Kristen do?

Come on step. Let’s just go, I don’t know. Not yet. Brady. What happened with. Hey man, can I get those tickets? What? And obviously you’re not using them. I don’t even know what you’re talking about, man. The tickets to the opera that you were supposed to take Chloe to in New York tonight. The opera. Yeah, that was, that was, that was tonight.

Yeah. Seeing as Chloe and I aren’t gonna be able to make it, I was thinking we could exchange them for another performance, perhaps Valentine’s Day. Okay. Hey, my brother and I in the middle, not only do you bail on. But you don’t even remember that you have plans with her. You are one classy. S o p. Hey, do you have any idea how much this night meant to her?

Any idea? And you add insult to injury by not even remembering that you have plans. Is that how much you care about her? Huh? You care about her more than you know, so much so that you toss her aside from my sister Steph. And that isn’t what happened. Man. Whatever you say, pal. Hey, at least now she’s with someone who truly cares about her, who treats her with the respect she deserves and doesn’t make her feel worthless and disposable.

Okay, come on, we’re going now. No, no, no. Hang on, hang on, hang on. Unlike Brady, I’m gonna make sure that you make it to. It’s very noble. Hey, you were denier, you got cloud, right? Why don’t you just, uh, you know, fly the whole company in privately so you can have your own private show. That’s a great idea, Brady.

You know, you should be part of a think tank or something. But New York, it’s so magical this time of year and romantic, isn’t it? Yeah, man, you really blew it. You had the. Wonderful woman on the planet, and you threw her aside like she’s garbage. At least now she’s with a real man.

Brady, what the hell is wrong with you? He’s outta control. That’s what’s wrong with him. Just like his brother. Leave him out. Him. Oh, but you guys have so much in common. You’re both rageaholic jerks who think nothing of assaulting people. Although I must say the priest seems to have calmed down a little bit since he’s stint in jail.

You know, maybe I should call the cops. They can teach you the same lesson. Stephanie, do you really think that’s necessary? No. Hey, Go for it.

Holy. The cops, Stephen.

Now Kristin, I knew back then now she, uh, she had this real calling and I’m not talking about just serving other people, but just serving God. Not very well, I’m afraid. Don’t come. No, no, no, no. Don’t do that. Don’t sell yourself short there. You were always looking out for other people. Feel you looked out for dog.

When she was possessed, you remember that you were one of the first people who realized there was some problem here and you tried to warn everybody else. You remember that? Yeah. It was a very scary time. Oh, yo. I was in denial. I mean, you were the one that got me to see the truth and the two of us, we helped her.

And it’s a running, isn’t it? What’s that? The doc is so convinced that you have all these evil intentions, but you are the one who saved her from the devil, and she’s still so suspicious of you now, even though you proved how much you cared about her, you were a real friend who, Kristen, and honestly, I, I just, I can’t understand why she can’t find it in her heart to.

Be a friend to you. Now,

what happened on the road that night? Ava? Did you lose control of the car? Didn’t you crash it on purpose? Is that how you were gonna hurt my father by killing my grandmother?

Hey, you are John Roman. We were all wondering where you were. Sorry. Just ran into an old friend. Oh, isn’t it? Just wouldn’t wanna let a little thing like the fate of your grandmother soul together the way if you two catch up. I, I, I am so sorry. Please tell me I didn’t miss the service. It. Elvis refused to start without you and then everything got toughy turvy.

When this young man came charging in there, yelling at him, shouting, shouting so loud that I just couldn’t take it. Shouting about what? How your father kidnapped him.

Son, I’m sorry you’re upset. No, I am not Yourself, and keep your damn hands off of me. All right. We’ve tolerated this interruption long enough. Tolerated. Oh, I’m sorry. EJ is me wanting an explanation for my mom’s murder. An annoyance to you. My be to suit to address Mr. Johnson. No, no, no, no. Don’t, don’t try to palm me off on Dr.

Evans or, or pacify me with your fake sympathy. We’re gonna have this out right here, right now. We are going to pay respects to my mother, and you are going to get the hell out of here.

I’m not going anywhere.

Kristen, you know, I love Jacque iHeart, but this total lack of understanding and forgiveness, it’s really frustrating for me. No, I mean, that was a point she was willing to try. Yeah, I remember that. I think it was, it was Mother’s Day. You were pregnant with Rachel. Yeah, and she sat right here and she said, this is a new beginning for all of us.

Well, Clearly it wasn’t because she can’t get past this idea that you’re rotten to the corn. I’m sorry about that. Well, you know, maybe she still can’t see past my mistakes. What she needs to see is how much you love your daughter more than anything, John. Well, that’s why Broody moved you in here. He knows how much you love Rachel.

She needs you in your life. You need to be with her so she can see what Brady and I already see, and that’s, you’re not only a good mother, but you’re a really good person.

No, I’m not, John. I’m not a good person.

Go. Call the cops. Stop. And please, let’s just get outta here.

My brother declined to press charges against Eric. Guess I could do the same for Poor Brady here besides. Shall sentence is temporary compared to the time you’re gonna spend thinking about what a fool you were to let her go. That’s forever

you. Okay? Yeah. You’re just seeing her with him makes me look crazy, Eric. I get it. I know you wanna put your daughter first. But if you love her so much, why don’t you give Chloe up?

Sorry about that. No, Brady’s the one who should be, sorry. Oh, I shouldn’t have provoked him like that, but I,

I hate the way he treated you, but I will make sure you make it to the opera. Best seats in the house. I can’t wait. How’s the bleeding? It looks like it’s stopped, but you have a little bit of blood on your shirt.

Damn, it can’t go to the memorial like that. Well, it’s probably over by now anyway.

She’s having a reception back at the house. You ready to join? I’d love to this young man, he, he claimed that EJ kidnapped him more like screaming at the top of his lungs was a trip. Trip Johnson, I believe that’s what he said his name was. You All right, I’ve gotta get in there.

I would very much like to hear what you’re feeling, but this is not the time or the place. I know you mean. Well, Dr. Evans, but I’m standing right where I am. This is not No, no, no. Why should I let this monster greet for his mother when he took my mother from me, right. That’s it. No, I said I’m not leaving

you to come with me. Right. Peter, huh?

What do you mean you’re not a good person? I. It’s okay being judgemental here. What’d you do?

Hey, you said Kristen did something. What was it, Eric, please just forget it. I can’t because she’s living in my mother’s house. Eric, forget it. She’s sure seems like it. Why is she living with Mom and John? And don’t tell me it’s what’s best for Rachel. You both know. That’s bull. Answer me. Brady, why would you move this cycle into foster parents home?

I didn’t have a choice. What? What do you mean? She blackmailed me? She forced me to move her in and break up with Chloe.

Are these peanut butter, bacon and banana sandwiches? They are Susan’s favorite, have one? Uh, I think I’ll wait till everyone gets here. Yeah. All right. I wonder what’s keeping them. They should have been back by now. Well, it’s an emotional event. People need time. I know, but EJ was pretty adamant on keeping it short.

He was the only one scheduled to speak. Maybe they had an unexpected guest. My God, mom. Hey, can’t you? Okay. I’m glad to see you too, baby. But we gotta get outta here. No, we’re not going anywhere. Nicole called the police death. The police, I’m assuming this is a mystery woman you were searching for earlier.

She showed up under disguise, returning to admire her handy work. No gas. But don’t worry, Ava’s gonna pay you for what you did to your grandma. Hey, get your hand off. Hey, don’t worry, I can handle EJ trip. Just please go. No, I’m not gonna leave you here. Yeah, you have to. Wow. What’s going on? There is a, What you talking about?

My God. Mom, we got, okay. I’m glad to see you too, baby, but we gotta get outta here going anywhere. Nicole called the police anywhere. Yeah, the police, I’m assuming this is a mystery woman you were searching for earlier. Yeah. She showed up in a disguise returning to admire her handy work. No doubt. But don’t worry’s gonna pay you for what she did to your grandmother.

Hey, get your hand off. Hey, don’t worry, I can handle EJ Tripp. Just please go. No, I’m not gonna leave. Yes, you have to. Why? What’s going on? There is a bomb. What mom? Whatcha are you talking about? Talking about right here.

What was that? I don’t know. Thunder, maybe. Hey, well let’s get back to the bombing you just dropped. What do you mean Kristen blackmailed you into breaking up the. What she holding over your head? If you keep insisting that you are not a good person? I don’t think I have to tell an ex none. That confession is good for the soul.

Yeah, well it’s too bad there’s not a priest around. No. Yes. You’re just gonna have to settle for the next best thing and it’s an old friend. So what’s weighing so heavily on your conscience?

You can talk to me. Kristen, I’m here for you.

Hey buddy. Hey, how about I take care of the next one? Hello. What’s this? By your favorite commission, beer Day? Well, that would suggest that you’re my favorite commission. And I guess you are, since you’re the one and only damn, talk about kicking a guy when he is down. Sorry about that. I’m more serious enough.

Any progress on building that case against CJ Damara for kidnapping my son? Well, nothing yet. Thank our trip. Safe. But he could have easily been killed.

Like Sands through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

You know, me, John, I, I spent most of my life on the naughty list. But everything I’ve done that, that’s been wrong. I’ve always felt I was doing it for the right reasons. I don’t doubt that.

Cause Kristen, you have got as big a heart as anyone I know. And let me tell you something. Sometimes when, when we hadn’t kind. Spirit and passion that you do. When we, when we so fiercely go after something we, we really want, we can inadvertently end up hurting people we really love. I know this is the last thing you’ve wanted to do.

Yeah. That is so true. That is so true. What I want, what, what I really want most is I want a loving family. I wanna be a good. I wanna be a devoted wife. Oh. But what I want most, what I want most of all is, uh, I want Rachel to know.
