On a beach in Jacksonville, Carly spread Virginia’s ashes into the ocean. She told Drew that she used to play on the beaches there and catch hermit crabs. Drew said he could picture Carly there, playing on the rocks. He asked if Carly ever tried to take the crabs home. Carly said no, because her mother told her the crabs lived on the beach and it was their home. Carly told Drew that her mother had said that one day she would live there on the beach too. Drew lifted her urn and said, “and now she will.” Carly eulogized Virginia. She told her that she was a good Mom and apologized for not always making her feel that way and then she spread her ashes into the water. Afterwards, Carly claimed that she’d found closure and perspective. She told Drew that the emergency landing of her plane in Jacksonville seemed to be an inconvenience but she realized that her mother needed her and she was glad things had happened as they did. Drew and Carly kissed.

In the boathouse at the Quartermaine mansion, Robert was stunned to find Holly alive. Robert told Holly that everyone had thought Holly had died, and he asked where she had been for the past two years. Holly said that she thought she’d been on a boat. Robert wanted to have Holly examined at the hospital for a possible concussion, and Dante called for an ambulance.

At the hospital, Robert told Austin that Holly had been experiencing memory issues. Holly reluctantly agreed to let Austin examine her. After the exam, Robert asked Holly what had been the last thing she’d remembered before waking up in the boathouse. Holly recalled that she had been working a case for the WSB in Monte Carlo. Robert shared that he and Ethan had searched Monte Carlo “up and down” for Holly. Holly was surprised that Robert had gone in search of her, but Robert said he would do it again. Robert wanted Holly to stay in the hospital overnight, but Holly refused.

Also at the hospital, Sasha confided her grief over Brando to Maxie, who shared with Sasha the grief she had felt after Nathan’s death. Mason appeared, and he asked if he could speak to Maxie. Mason asked Maxie to convince Austin to return to Pautuck for Thanksgiving. Austin appeared, and he ushered Mason away from Maxie and Sasha. Off to the side, Mason gravely said that Maxie would do well to stay as far away from Austin as possible.

Later, Martin appeared at the hospital and told Sasha that he had an update from the judge on her guardianship.

In the kitchen of the Quartermaine mansion, Chase and Brook Lynn kissed. Brook Lynn steered the discussion toward her desire to have Chase become a singer in order to get revenge on Linc.

Ned appeared, and he and Chase chatted briefly about Holly. Brook Lynn took a call. Alone, Ned asked if Chase was happy. Chase shared that he enjoyed singing but that his true passion was being a cop. Chase vented his frustration that he was no longer on the force. Outside the mansion, Brook Lynn received an email from Dante that he’d promised to send as part of his effort to get Chase reinstated. Brook Lynn promptly deleted the email.

Brook Lynn reappeared in the kitchen, and she told Chase that Linc wanted Chase to do a duet with one of Linc’s rising female stars. An uneasy Chase hugged an ecstatic Brook Lynn.

In the lobby of the police station, Anna, Jordan, and Martin watched a video of Lucy’s shooting. The three were stunned to see that the person that had shot Lucy had the same face as Anna. A furious Martin called Anna a murderer, but Anna swore that she had been set up. Anna firmly believed that Victor had been behind Lucy’s disappearance, and she angrily marched into the interrogation room to confront him.

Victor swore he’d had nothing to do with Lucy’s disappearance, and he acted emotional when he was told that something had happened to Lucy. Anna became unhinged, and she tried to physically attack Victor. A police officer interceded, and he and Jordan escorted Anna out into the lobby. Jordan lectured Anna on the unprofessional appearance of her histrionics. Anna tried to return to the interrogation room, but Jordan refused to allow her.

In a voice message to Robert, Anna said that Victor had tried to frame her for Lucy’s disappearance. Martin returned with Arden, the assistant district attorney. Martin demanded that Anna be arrested for murder, and he showed Arden the video of the person who looked like Anna shooting Lucy. Anna was reeling that Martin could believe she was responsible for Lucy’s shooting. Martin recalled that Anna had tried to blackmail him, and he accused her of using people any way she had to.

After Jordan returned to the lobby, Arden told Jordan to tell Victor that he was free to leave. Arden then escorted Victor back into the lobby. Victor “learned” that Anna had been seen on the surveillance footage. Arden said that Jordan needed to recuse herself from the investigation into Lucy’s shooting due to Jordan’s close ties with Anna.

Jordan refused, but she agreed to follow the evidence and to pursue the matter to the fullest extent of the law if the person in the video turned out to be Anna. Arden apologized to Victor for the police having “wasted” his time. “All that matters is justice for Lucy. As the commissioner said, just follow the evidence,” Victor said direly.

In the parking lot of the PCPD, Anna searched her car for evidence that she had been framed. In the hatchback of her car, Anna was shocked to find a gun, which she picked up with a gloved hand.

Jack: So there is more to the story of your years in L.A. Than you admitted.

Diane: Yes. And I-I realized that I — I can’t keep hiding it from you.

Jack: So tell me this shameful secret. What is it? What happened?

Diane: Well, while I lived there, tucker and I did cross paths.

Jack: I see.

Diane: But it wasn’t anything that I wanted or — or that i planned. But he — he found out things about me.

Jack: Like what?

Diane: Things that… I had to do to survive. Things I’m not proud of. But, jack, before I tell you, please, you have to believe me that I had no choice.

Tucker: Nikki? Hello? Ah, there she is. I’m so happy you called.

Nikki: Tucker.

Tucker: I hope this invitation means that you and i are — we’re on good terms. Like, we’re — there’s no grudges between us, no ill will between us.

Nikki: Well, that all depends on what happens going forward, since you seem to be staying in town for a while.

Tucker: I might, I might. I’m having a ball getting reacquainted with all the, um — what’d you call them? — The respectable families of genoa city? And then, of course, to be invited here to the ranch, to sit with the grand dame of the community, well, that’s — that means a lot.

Nikki: That title does not belong to me. There is only one grand dame of genoa city. Your mother.

Tucker: Ah, yes. The duchess. Yeah. Very respectable. Sorry. Did I offend you?

Nikki: No, no, not at all. But I’m afraid you have misunderstood my invitation. This is not a social call. We will not be having tea and chitchatting. There’s someone I want you to meet. Tucker mccall… talia morgan.

Tucker: Ah.

Lauren: So, hey, how is your new product line going? Marchetti home.

Phyllis: Oh, it’s great. I’m killing. You know, not that I mean to brag, but I am killing.

Lauren: You don’t mean to brag, but you will.

Phyllis: Yeah. I wish the other reason why i was at marchetti was going as well as the actual job.

Lauren: Uh, yeah, getting rid of diane? Don’t tell me that has stalled.

Phyllis: It’s stalled, but it’s progressing. I mean, kyle and summer, they’re in costa rica. Now is the best time to get diane out of here.

Lauren: Oh, are you sure about that?

Phyllis: Yeah. I mean, when they come home, they’ll be in such marital bliss, they won’t even notice she’s not around.

Lauren: I don’t know about that, because from what I’ve seen about kyle, he has fallen for his mother’s reinvention, and he has fully accepted her into his life.

Phyllis: Yeah, I know he has. I can dream.

Lauren: Yes, you can. But you know what? I want you to get rid of diane because she is a sore spot in my household, too. And you know me. I can hold a grudge like the best of them.

Phyllis: Oh, and you know what? I love that about you.

Lauren: Well, thank you. Thank you. It’s michael. Michael has too much empathy. He has too much understanding for the human frailty.

Phyllis: What is wrong with him? Seriously, she has done me so wrong. She fakes her own death, she made her son believe that she was dead. I mean, that’s not just human frailty. That’s evil.

Jack: All the times I asked if there was more to your story. How many openings did I give you to tell the truth? Other people accused you of terrible things. I defended you.

Diane: I know, I know. And I — I feel awful that I put you in that position. But please, jack, just hear what I have to say before you pass judgment.

Jack: You want me to hear more of your excuses?

Diane: No, I want you to hear the truth.

[ Sighs ] I arrived in L.A. With the world thinking that diane jenkins was dead. The first thing I needed was a new identity, and I was able to find someone who would help me create a new persona.

Jack: So, was he the man in the bentley?

Tucker: Yeah, I know, ms. Morgan. By reputation only.

Talia: Likewise. But I’d like to begin by asking you a few questions about your future plans.

Tucker: Sure. You can ask me anything you want. Got nothing to hide.

Nikki: Well, I know that journalists like to speak to their subjects in private, so I’ll leave you to it.

Talia: Shall we sit?

Talia: So, now that you don’t have nikki newman to impress, maybe you can give me some real answers.

Tucker: Fire away. Just don’t ask about the rumor.

Talia: What rumor?

Tucker: Oh, there’s this nasty rumor going around that the real reason I came to town is to try to convince victor newman to build a rocket with me so we can launch ourselves into space. You know, it’s what billionaires are doing these days. But I probably should not have said anything, should I? Because you’re going to do an article with the headline “mccall and newman shoot themselves into space.”

Talia: You should be so lucky. You have history with the newman family, going head to head with victor in business and personally.

Tucker: That’s correct. That’s excellent research on your part.

Talia: So if there is bad blood between you and the family, why do you think nikki newman encouraged me to write a profile of you? And now please welcome ana montoya.

Tucker: Well, look, if you want to write about me, I’m happy to accept the free publicity. But you said you wanted to learn about my current plans. And the newmans do not even remotely enter into what I have going now, so, uh… they’re in the past. If you want to talk about the present, let’s do it.

Talia: Fair enough. So do you have answers regarding why you’re divesting and liquefying so many of your assets? Are you downsizing? Getting ready to retire? Or perhaps do you have a major move in the works?

Lauren: You know, I am just so surprised that jack seems to have accepted diane back into his life wholeheartedly like nothing has ever happened.

Phyllis: Well, he was taking kyle’s lead. I mean, but he’s accepted her back. He was. I think jack is seeing diane for who she really is. I mean, I don’t know. I just sense he’s being polite now, but he’s definitely holding back.

Lauren: Are you sure about that? She’s been trying to worm her way back into his life through kyle and harrison. They’re now working in the same building. She’s coming at him from all sides.

Phyllis: I know, I know. But before I came here, I overheard jack in his office, and he said that his doubts are starting to reignite regarding diane.

Lauren: Oh. That’s a step in the right direction. What brought that on?

Phyllis: Ashley.

[ Chuckles ] It seems that there’s a diane-tucker connection.

Lauren: What? I haven’t heard about this.

Phyllis: There’s a theory going around that the two of them were connected up in los angeles.

Lauren: Wow.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Lauren: And you subscribe to this theory?

Phyllis: For sure. For sure I do. I mean, it’s diane. I mean, ashley told this to jack. He thought it was a rumor. He brushed it off, but it definitely resonated. Now he has doubts about diane. I mean, we just need to give him a little nudge in the right direction.

Diane: Jeremy was an international financier. He flew around the world finding opportunities and making deals.

Jeremy: Well, I didn’t think the deal was going to close, but you are now looking at the third-largest distributor of automotive parts in eastern europe.

Diane: Wow! That must explain all the paparazzi outside.

[ Both laugh ]

Jeremy: I know, it doesn’t sound like much, but it’s huge.

Diane: No, no. Congratulations.

[ Glasses clink ] Between this and that australian land you acquired last week, you are on a roll. You’re going to spoil me with all this good champagne.

Jeremy: I hope so. Mmm.

Diane: Jeremy, what is this?

Jeremy: Open it and find out.

Diane: Oh, it’s — it’s lovely, but what is it?

Jeremy: It’s a private island. I’m going there tonight for a meeting, and I’d like you to join me there tomorrow.

Diane: Oh. That sounds amazing, but I — I can’t go on such short notice.

Jeremy: [ Scoffs ] Why not?

Diane: Oh, come on. I know the circles you travel in. I’m not prepared for that. I don’t — I don’t have anything to wear. And even my luggage is all beat up.

Jeremy: Oh, that doesn’t matter. You look fabulous as is, and you know that. But if you’re concerned, you can reach out to my assistant, francesca. Tell her what you need. She’ll do all the shopping. All you have to do is be ready for my car to pick you up at noon tomorrow.

Diane: It was a whirlwind. It was a fantasy come true. It was wonderful and romantic, and it was the first of many. He traveled a lot for business, and he would invite me to join him on these spur-of-the-moment trips. And he took care of all the arrangements.

Jack: Very generous of him.

Diane: Yeah. For, uh… for the first time, I felt taken care of. Like, um… like I had found something that had been missing in previous relationships. But, um, what I didn’t realize until it was too late… is that was his trick. Dupixent helps you du more with less asthma.

And then jeremy would remove them when we got to the location and deposit them in a local bank. Millions and millions of dollars, jack. He was sheltering illegal funds and using me to do it.

Jack: And you knew nothing about it?

Diane: You know what? I hear that skeptical tone in your voice, but, no, I didn’t know. I didn’t know until a trip to barbados. Jeremy was late meeting me at the airport, and I was just looking in my suitcase for something, and I saw stacks of 100-dollar bills, and I-I put them back. And later, when he thought I was taking a nap, I saw him remove them, and then I followed him to a bank. I realized what was happening. I was shocked… and devastated. But I waited until we were safely back in L.A. Before confronting him.

Jeremy: Going on a trip tomorrow. You up for it?

Diane: Where to?

Jeremy: Mm. Someplace special. I know you’ll enjoy it. I promise. Just be ready by 3:00.

Diane: Okay. I just have one question.

Jeremy: What is it?

Diane: How much cash do you plan to hide in my suitcase this time? Should I bring the carry-on or take two large suitcases? I — I just thought it would help if I knew so I could plan. I trusted you, jeremy. I even thought I was falling in love with you. But you’ve been using me as a money-laundering mule.

Jeremy: You’re overreacting, taylor. I’m sorry. The fantasy has been shattered. But this relationship does not have to end.

Diane: Yes, it does. It’s over. I’m not going to do your dirty work for you. You’ve been putting me in danger.

Jeremy: Calm down.

Diane: No.

Jeremy: I’ve invested a lot in you.

Diane: Oh, my god.

You’ve taken me on a couple of trips. That doesn’t buy you my loyalty to commit crimes for you. I won’t tell the authorities about you, but we are done.

Jeremy: We are not done. Social security numbers of dead people don’t come cheap.

Diane: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Jeremy: The man who arranged your new identity? He works for. Now you do, too, diane jenkins.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Jeremy: I can imagine that there are a lot of people who’d be very interested to know that you are alive and well. So, if you don’t want that kind of trouble, you’ll keep doing what you’ve been doing.

Diane: He was nothing but a con man. My meeting him wasn’t a coincidence. He never cared about me. It was just part of his system. You know, his — his way of recruiting people that he could control. He had all the leverage. He could expose my lies and tell the world that I was alive. Jack, I was trapped.

Lauren: Honey, I’m worried about you.

Phyllis: Why?

Lauren: Because if jack finds out that you are any way connected with diane’s downfall, this whole thing’s gonna backfire. He’s gonna be so angry. Especially considering what it could do to kyle.

Phyllis: Boo! I made my peace with that. I’m resigned to him being mad at me again. It is more important to me that my friend and my daughter know the truth about diane. It is more important to me that I am protecting them. Jack should thank me for being such a great friend.

Lauren: And you are sure this is the best way to handle it?

Phyllis: Yes, it’s the only way. Lauren, it’s the only way. Come on. If it keeps jack away from that she-devil and it keeps my daughter safe, this is the right thing.

Kyle: I think I still have sand in my hair. Can you check it for me?

Summer: Let’s see. Oh, yeah. You have sand everywhere. That shower did nothing. You’ve got some color on your face, too?

Kyle: I was worried the spf was too low and… ooh! I think you got a little too much sun.

Summer: Where?

Kyle: Right here. And… ooh, right here.

Summer: [ Laughs ]

Kyle: And right here.

Summer: Mmm. Was that supposed to help me with my sunburn?

Kyle: Mmm, I’m just trying to decide where I should rub some aloe vera. But if you don’t like it, then…

Jack: So how did you get out of his well-laid trap?

Diane: I guess you could call it fate. I continued carrying money out of the country for him. We — we continued the trips. You know, I-I pretended I was his lover, but I couldn’t stand to be in the same room with him. And then, one day, he demanded that we meet at our usual spot.

Diane: Why do we have to meet here? I mean, I’ll do the work, but can’t we quit the charade that we’re a couple, especially in L.A.?

Jeremy: Sit down. I’m about to be arrested.

Diane: How do you know?

Jeremy: A friend of mine tipped me off from the justice department.

Diane: Oh, my god. Do you know when this is gonna happen?

Could happen next week, could happen tomorrow… could happen before I finish this drink. Now, I don’t think you’re in danger because you’re a small fish. But they could use you to get to a bigger fish. That can’t happen. Do you understand? If they question you, you keep your mouth shut. Got it? I’ll do the same for you.

Diane: But what if —

[ Sirens approaching ]

Jeremy: Get out of here. Now!

Jack: Wow. Lucky you.

Diane: I didn’t feel lucky. I was terrified. His whole operation came to light in the investigation. The trial and the preparation took four years, and I was on pins and needles the whole time. I was — I was certain there would be a knock at my door and — and I would be implicated.

Jack: How were you not?

Diane: Well, the fact that we never flew together made it hard to connect us. But it was a huge wake-up call. I was determined after this experience to get my life on the right track. Jack… I need you to believe me. Everything I have told you about that part of my journey is true. I always… I always thought that, um… you know, a rich husband would solve all my problems. But after jeremy, I realized that’s just wrong, that I needed to take care of myself. And that’s what drove me to get the help I needed. I mean, I swore that — that if I got out of this mess that I would do everything in my power to reconnect with kyle, who I had missed every day. And that’s what kept me going for years.

Jack: And I guess I could assume by your being here a free woman that you managed to evade the law.

Diane: That’s right. Once jeremy was convicted and in prison, I was able to relax and focus on getting back to genoa city and getting back into kyle’s life. And that’s when tucker showed up.

Tucker: I wouldn’t read too much into my latest maneuvers. I’m buying and selling and investing and divesting all the time. The business world moves fast, and so do I. Are you sure I can’t get you something?

Talia: No, thanks. That is another non-answer.

Tucker: Ah. Okay. Um… let’s say I’m clearing a path.

Talia: To what?

Tucker: Who knows? Sometimes you just have to, uh…make room for whatever will be revealed.

Talia: Did you learn that at the ashram?

Tucker: I did. Very good.

[ Chuckles ] Excellent research on your part yet again.

Talia: So, what have you been doing since you left thailand? I know you spent some time in L.A. Did you have business there? Do you own a home? What do you enjoy doing when in town? My readers would love to know.

Tucker: Well, uh… I, uh — I go to the hollywood walk of fame and venice beach and the capitol records building and brown derby. All the hotspots, you know?

Talia: The brown derby has been closed for about 30 years.

Tucker: Is that right? Wow. That would explain the slow service.

Talia: All right. I have things to do. If you ever do get serious, I would love to interview you.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Wow. How quaint. Well, in this case, I’ll definitely be in touch. Take care. You can come out now, nikki. Would you like to explain what that was all about?

[School bells]

Diane: Tucker was the man in the bentley. That’s the one thing I lied to you about. We were connected in L.A., But it was just a random run-in.

Jack: When was this?

Diane: About six months before I started reaching out to you. Tucker recognized me immediately, and I was hoping he would drop it, but of course he didn’T.

Jack: That wouldn’t be his style, no.

Diane: No, not at all. He, um — he was able to connect the dots because he knew people who had done business with jeremy. And somehow he uncovered evidence of my crimes that the feds had overlooked. But he promised that he would keep quiet if we helped each other.

Jack: You were being blackmailed from two different directions.

Diane: Yeah.

Jack: I’m almost afraid to ask. What did he want from you in return?

Diane: Tucker was considering a return to genoa city to rekindle things with ashley.

Jack: He’s a fool.

Diane: Yes, and he wanted a way in with the abbotts. And that’s when he found allie.

Jack: Wait. Tucker’s the one who discovered keemo and allie?

Diane: That’s right. He thought I could be of help to him here, so he offered me the information about the house as a way for me to reconnect with you and kyle.

Jack: And what was he expecting from you in return?

Diane: [ Sighs ] Well, he — he wanted me to keep tabs on ashley. You know, her romantic status, work, travel plans.

Jack: Wait. You originally came to town to spy on my sister?

Diane: No! No, jack. Ca– can’t you see the situation I was in? I had worked so hard to turn my life around — years and years of effort and — and therapy so that I could be with my son again. This was my chance. And — and I couldn’t risk tucker revealing that I was a lie before I had a chance to do it myself. I could’ve gone to jail. And then kyle would have found out that I’d faked my death without me being able to explain it to him. So I — so I agreed to help tucker. Okay? I sold all of the expensive gifts that jeremy had given me, and I used the money to buy keemo’s house. You know everything after that.

Summer: How good are our lives right now?

Kyle: Mm. Our lives are perfect.

Summer: [ Breathes deeply ] I have loved you for so long. We’ve known each other for what feels like forever, and… all that time, I haven’t known how we were going to end up together, but…it always felt inevitable.

Kyle: [ Chuckles ] It did. And now we have everything we could ever want. We have each other, harrison, family, work. Could it get any better?

Summer: I don’t know. We both had personal issues that we had to deal with before we came here. You with adam, me with my dad and sally.

Kyle: Yeah, minor bumps in the road. That stuff barely even bothers me anymore. It was perfectly fine, and I owe that to you and harrison. I know the two of you are in my corner, so nothing else matters.

Summer: That’s so sweet. But it’s not entirely true.

Kyle: What?

Summer: Kind of hurts me to say this, but… I feel like you never felt truly whole until diane came back. And it makes sense, right? The mother you thought you lost back in your life?

Kyle: Guess I hadn’t thought about it like that. But… having her around does make me feel more at peace. I think that’s because I finally have some answers. There’s not as much uncertainty. No more unfinished business.

Summer: Mm.

Kyle: I think I was always looking for something that was just out of reach or lurking in the shadows.

Summer: And you’re not anymore?

Kyle: Mnh. That’s why I can focus on all the positive things in my life.

Summer: Well, I’m glad it’s worked out because, to be honest, when she first showed up, I was afraid it was gonna be a real mess.

[ Both laugh ]

Kyle: I know you did. But thanks for giving her the space and time to prove herself. You were supportive but never dictated how I was supposed to feel about any of it. You let me figure it out on my own. You were awesome.

Summer: Were awesome? Did I stop being awesome?

Kyle: Oh. No, no, no, no.

Summer: [ Laughs ] Okay. I didn’t think so. I — I’m still awesome. And don’t ever forget it.

Kyle: Never.

Summer: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: I-I-I don’t even know what to say.

Diane: Jack, I — I was trapped, first by jeremy and then by tucker. I — I was forced to behave in ways that I would never do under normal circumstances. But it was — it was about survival. And I — and it was about my need as a mother to reconnect with my son. And I was willing to do whatever it took. Please tell me you understand. I am so sorry. But phyllis and nikki were determined to dig up dirt on me, and — and I knew that this would be discovered sooner or later. I just wanted you to hear it from me.

[ Knock on door, door opens ]

Phyllis: Hi. Uh, am I interrupting something? Is everything okay?

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Tucker: Did you expect me to believe that little song and dance there was for a real article, some puff piece about my future plans?

Nikki: What would I know about talia’s assignments?

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Yeah. It’s funny — she was asking about my business in L.A., And it’s pretty common knowledge that most of my business is done internationally. But everyone seems very concerned about what I’m doing in los angeles. And by “everyone,” I mean you.

Nikki: I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

Tucker: Oh, nikki… I love a good cat-and-mouse game, especially with you. But I think it would be best if we just lay our cards on the table here. You and your friends have a theory that I’m somehow connected with diane jenkins. Right? So you’re siccing the reporter who did an exposé on her onto me.

Nikki: Out of respect for katherine, I want to treat you fairly.

Tucker: You sure have a funny way of showing it.

Nikki: I would like to think that you’re smart enough to avoid diane jenkins at all costs. Yet there is something in my head that tells me that there is a connection between the two of you. And you know what she did to me and my family. So you should certainly understand why I don’t want her in genoa city.

Tucker: But what does that have to do with me?

Nikki: If you are collaborating with her, I want to know why and what she is after. If she is planning to harm anybody that I care about, I will hold you personally responsible. Now, I would like to believe that if you knew something that would help me protect my loved ones, you would step up and give me the information.

Tucker: Yeah. I would really like to help, nikki, but… sorry, I can’T.

Jack: Everything is fine, phyllis. What is it you need at this exact moment?

Phyllis: Oh, it’s no hurry. None at all. Um, not important. I’ll come back at another time. Okay? Is everything okay, diane?

Diane: Yes, everything’s fine, just like jack said.

One of the worst parts about grief is that it’s not a straight line. It ebbs and flows. So you’re alleging that I followed lucy all the way to a public pier, and then I shot her in full view of anyone who wanted to come by. And as you pointed out, I went to “spy school,” so surely I would have a more clandestine method to eliminate someone at my disposal. I basically put myself out there to get caught. Do you see that this doesn’t make any sense? I see the woman who blackmailed me, the same woman who, when I refused to spy for her, threatened to destroy my life. That’s a bit of an exaggeration. You use people, anna, any way you have to, to even the score in your own petty grudges. With people like you and victor, that gets dangerous real fast. And I should know. I watched my own brother do it for years. The stakes get a little too high, something goes wrong, someone like lucy gets in the way, and then you’ve got to get rid of the problem, permanently.

[ Door closes ] A.D.A. Arden. What’s going on here? Commissioner ashford, nice of you to join us. I was questioning a suspect. I heard. Now tell victor cassadine he’s free to go. How long did dr. Look, I think it might be worth mentioning at this point that whenever I was with lucy and anna’s name came up, lucy would get visibly uncomfortable. I agree. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but now, well… I-I’m beginning to wonder if lucy might have been… afraid of anna? Add that to the evidence you’re “following.” Are you willing to make an official statement? Uh, yes, I-I suppose so. Does that mean you’ve changed your mind? If the person on the video proves to be anna devane, I will reassess. I can’t listen to any more of this. Until then, there’s nothing that links anna to lucy’s presumed death.

[ Beep ] Alright. Where would one plant evidence in my car?

The life that I came back to a year ago, that — that wasn’t the life that I-I left, and it took me a while to see it. But there’s beauty in that. And new beginnings. A new beginning for both of us. New beginnings can be scary. They can. But they can also be exciting and hopeful and… and full of possibility. I like the sound of that. So do I.

Steffy: Hey.

Steffy: You gotta believe it. We’re finally back together.

Steffy: Forresters. The way we always wanted.

Thomas: Yeah.

Steffy: Oh, this is amazing.

[ Thomas chuckling ]

Justin: All right. We’re all set. So, I’ll let you get back to it. Oh, and, uh, by the way, um, sorry to hear, word is getting around about brooke and ridge.

Katie: Yeah, well, I feel bad for my sister. I’m just hoping they can figure things out.

Carter: You’re a loving, loyal sister, katie.

Katie: Well, I know how much ridge means to brooke and how hard they’ve fought for each other and their marriage. But until she talks to him, all I can do is worry, and I know she wouldn’t want me to do that. She would want me to be positive.

Carter: And maybe I can help.

Katie: You already have. Is that why you were looking for me? You thought I might need some cheering up?

Carter: Or I do. You gave me quite the ego boost the other day. You said I looked like a trout.

[ Laughing ]

Carter: I just had no idea you, um… felt that way about me.

[ Laughing ]

Katie: I find that hard to believe.

Carter: It’s true.

Katie: Well, does that mean you’ve never thought about me?

Carter: You were with bill.

Katie: Not anymore.

Carter: Till quinn bailed on me, I thought I had something solid with her. But now–

Katie: Now you’re free to start something else.

Brooke: Oh, honey, you don’t have to wait around.

Hope: You need me. I’m here.

Brooke: Thank you. Actually, I would probably be driving myself absolutely crazy if you weren’t here. I still have so many questions.

Hope: So, ridge didn’t give you any sort of clue as to why he is now with taylor?

Brooke: No. I mean, yeah, there was that kiss in monaco that they had, but ridge explained that. He said he didn’t want that to impact our relationship.

Hope: Well, I know thomas and steffy took it as a sign that their parents should be together.

Brooke: Yeah. Steffy made sure that everybody knew, she wouldn’t let up, that’s for sure.

Hope: But I thought that ridge made it clear to her that he was committed to you.

Brooke: Yeah, he didn’T. He told me the same thing. And I actually believed him. I was just not gonna let anything or anybody come between us. Not steffy, not taylor, not the situation with thomas and douglas. Yeah, sure, sure, we were struggling a little bit, but we were working our way through things. And actually, we were in a good place.

Hope: But thomas, steffy and taylor weren’t going to accept that, so they drove a wedge between the two of you.

Brooke: And I really hate to say it, but I think that maybe it worked.

[ Forresters laughing ]

Steffy: Here you go. That’s for mom.

Taylor: Thank you.

Steffy: Love birds.

Ridge: Thank you.

Thomsa: You know, dad, if you have, uh, some luggage, I can– I can bring yours down, too.

Steffy: Yeah, we can bring the bags up to mom’s room. We could do that. Yeah, we should do that.

Taylor: You don’t need to fuss over us. Stop.

Thomas: Come on, we would do anything for you guys.

Steffy: Yeah, we should be doing more. You know what we should do? When the kids get home, we should have a barbecue.

Ridge: When the kids get home? They’re not gettin’ out?

Steffy: They’re not here yet. They’re very excited to do, like, an elaborate tea party for you. It’s really cute.

Thomas: You know, seeing you guys together, this is just, like… it’s so amazing.

Taylor: All feels right in the world now, you know? Us. We’re back together. And our beautiful, amazing, brilliant, wonderful kids are finally off our back.

[ Ridge gasping ]

[ Laughing]

Taylor: No, really. No, really. It’s– this is– this is everything I’ve– I’ve ever wanted. For all of us.

Music (“I swear”) plays

Carter: You know, we used to spend a lot of time together.

Katie: We used to do a lot of talking about bill and quinn. I don’t wanna do that anymore.

Carter: No argument here.

Katie: I do have one more question, though.

Carter: Yes, she’s really gone. And after speaking with shauna, I don’t think she’s ever coming back.

Katie: Well, I think that’s for the best, honestly.

Carter: Would you have wanted a clean break from bill?

Katie: Bill and I have a son. He’s always gonna be in my life. But honestly, we haven’t, um, connected as a couple in a while.

Carter: Mm.

Katie: Which is why I’m curious.

Carter: About me and quinn?

Katie: Yeah. You know, she had success, she had security. She’s a world-renowned jewelry designer. She was mrs. Eric forrester, and yet, she risked it all for you.

Carter: Thanks?

Katie: No, it’s just, you know, besides all of your success and talents. You obviously shook quinn to her core. Caused a seismic shift in her life.

Carter: And that idea intrigues you?

Katie: It does. Was the chemistry that hot?

Hope: You can’t lose hope. Because there is still a chance. And I know you still love him, and I have to believe that he still loves you.

Brooke: He does love me. He told me he always will. But that doesn’t mean we’ll be together.

Hope: Mom, I know you and I know you will be able to get through to him.

Brooke: I hope so, honey. But I am one small voice. He has his other family shouting in his ear all the time.

Hope: I know, because they’re trying to make it seem as if their connection and their love is more valid than yours when it is not. You are ridge’s wife.

Brooke: You’re right. You are. You’re right. And I don’t want to be at war with taylor and her kids. I don’T. God, I just want my husband back. That’s all.

Thomas: Okay. I want details. Like I was there.

Ridge: I assume that she told you every detail ad nauseam at this point.

Thomas: Yeah, well, I mean, have you ever heard her tell a story? It’s like–

Steffy: Excuse me?

Taylor: Steffy has good stories.

Steffy: Yes, I do.

Thomas: Okay, look, things seemed kind of bleak before you left for aspen. I mean, mom, you were thinking about leaving L.A.

Taylor: Well, that was the plan. But steffy convinced me to go to aspen and think things through. Don’t make any rash decisions.

Taylor: I mean, as much as I love your dad, I knew that he was torn and he was trying to make his marriage work. And our feelings for each other were making things very complicated, and it– it just didn’t feel right.

Ridge: Hey!

Taylor: But then he said that he came there to find me. Because he realized that I was the one that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Ridge: And she didn’t believe me.

Taylor: I mean, I– I wanted to believe you.

Ridge: Eh.

Taylor: I did, I did. But I was– I was bawling my eyes out. And I was really fighting my feelings. So, naturally, I ran from them.

Ridge: And from me.

Taylor: Yes.

Taylor: But he didn’t let me get away. No matter how far or fast I ran, he didn’t give up.

Ridge: Can we please– can we please stop running? I’m gonna have a heart attack.

Taylor: Then stop chasing me.

Ridge: But I’m not that man anymore.

Taylor: Okay, what kind of man are you now?

Ridge: I’m a man who’s standing on a mountain in front of this beautiful woman, telling her that we can do this. That I’m not gonna let her down anymore.

Ridge: I want to be a better man.

Ridge: And you make me a better man. I want to be with you.

Ridge: For always. And she was so deeply moved that she said–

Taylor: What the hell took you so long?

[ Chuckling ] Cps agent: Child protective services.

Brooke: Hello. I’d like to report a child in danger. Cps agent: And your name, ma’am?

[ Cell phone beeping ] Brooke logan. Please hurry.

Brooke: Brooke logan. Please hurry.

[ Taylor & ridge laughing ]

Taylor: Uh-oh, I think we lost him. Thomas?

Thomas: No, no, I was just, uh, just thinking. Uh, so then brooke showed up?

Steffy: Not that it mattered. It was too late.

Thomas: Yeah. No, I just thought that maybe she was trying to plead her case.

Ridge: Why can’t you take some responsibility and just say it? Say to me.

Brooke: Say what?

Thomas: Brooke didn’t say anything?

Ridge: Why are we talking about brooke? What are we doing? I’m here with your mom, and yes, there’s only one question I have, and you’re right. What took me so long?

[ Laughing ]

Taylor: See? I knew I– it was– it was valid. Good question.

[ Mouthing ] Research shows that people remember ads with young people

Katie: It’s a serious question. What?

Carter: I’m just thinking, if bill heard you right now.

Katie: Is that really what you’re thinking?

Katie: I made it very clear that I’m not interested in pursuing things with bill.

Carter: I do want to make one thing clear, though.

Katie: Okay.

Carter: I didn’t never give you a thought. I’ve always noticed how incredible you are. How smart. How strong.

Carter: Beautiful. How sexy.

Brooke: What I share with ridge is more than history. We are connected on the deepest level. And taylor and her children, they’ve never understood that. They’ve never been able to accept it. But I am not giving up on ridge.

Brooke: Our love story is not coming to an end.

Taylor: I just– then– then, yeah. But the– it was–

Steffy: That’s great.

Taylor: And it was beautiful, too.

[ Taylor laughing ]

[ Chatter ]

Steffy: Are we leaving you out?

Ridge: What?

Thomas: Yeah, like, what are you doing? You gonna join the team? Come on.

Ridge: I’m– I’m the leader of this team, what are you talking about? I’m just standing back for a second because I… I like seeing you guys laughing together. Those– those are precious moments. We don’t have too many of those. I mean, that’s something that steffy and finn have taught us, right?

Taylor: That is– that is so true. And thank you for that. You know? You know, this moment, right here, that we’re living right now, I– I really didn’t think it was possible. And I didn’t think it would ever happen. Until your dad caught up with me on the top of that mountain and proved to me that anything is possible.

Ridge: Hm.

Taylor: True love wins in the end, we’re happy, we’re together and we’re ready to build the rest of our lives together.

Taylor: We did it, ridge. We did it. It’s another miracle for a family.

Thomas: Another miracle for our family indeed.

Rolf wanted to clean up the mess in his lab, but Li wanted him to leave it the way it was. Li told him that he was going to get him a new lab, but it’s in Jakata. Rolf wasn’t thrilled about that, but Li told him it would be better for him since the cops think he poisoned the women. He warned him that Gabi was looking for him too and she could be worse than the cops. Rolf wasn’t intimidated by her, but Li said she could end up finding out the truth. He told Rolf to pack up his things and move. He agreed to move, but he had to get his affairs in order. Li was going to send a car for him to take him to the airport. Rafe told Gabi about his problems with Nicole and Eric. She realized that he slept at the office. She advised him to talk things out with Nicole. Rafe didn’t want to go home because he didn’t want to argue with Nicole again. He blamed himself for letting things go as far as they did. She thought he was just being patient. She told him that Stefan gave her divorce papers. Rafe said Stefan was lucky to have her. She was convinced that Rolf turned Stefan against her. She said she couldn’t find him to tell him. Rafe told her about his lab and thought she should start there.

Eric was cleaning his camera when Jada showed up. He got an email From Basic Black telling him that he was fired. He kept reading the email and found out it was from Nicole. He thought EJ might have forced her to fire him. Jada thought she knew the real reason why he was fired. She told him about Nicole and Rafe’s fight. John was home to get Marlena’s files and noticed Brady looked depressed, He wanted to know what happened. He told John that he broke up with Chloe because of Rachel. John felt like he didn’t think things through. Brady yelled that he didn’t have a choice. He said he had to do what was best no matter what happened to him. Brady asked him if Marlena and the others were getting better. He told him that it was a miracle. John didn’t know where the serum came from, but he wanted to make sure that it kept coming. Brady was sure everything was going to work out. John was on his way to the hospital to see Marlena when Chloe showed up. She asked about Marlena and he told her that she was doing better. Chloe told him that she was there to pick up her things. He felt terrible about what happened, but she knew why he did it. She was about to go to his room when Kristen showed up with a suitcase. She said she was moving in.

Roman told Kate that there was a miracle. He told her about the serum that Marlena took. Kate told him to go to the hospital. Chad showed up to be with Kate. Chad apologized for not being there for her. Kate apologized for not being there for him with Abby. He said there was no way she could have known what happened. She hated herself for ever being with Clyde. Chad said she picked a good one this time. She said he was right. She talked about how much time she and Roman had left. She said she had to stay positive. He said he knew she would because she was Kate. After Rex gave Marlena the serum, her heart began to race. She said she couldn’t breathe. John tried to talk to her until her heart slowed down. Rex said her vitals were rebounding. John wanted to know what that meant. Marlena said it meant it was working. She said she could feel it. Kristen told Brady on the phone that he should end things with Chloe. She said the future doses depended on him. He yelled at her and told her not to call him again. When he got off the phone, Chloe wondered what was going on. He lied about what was going on.

Kristen went to the hospital. She saw Brady and Chloe together. When Brady walked off, Kristen went over to Chloe. They got into an argument. Brady showed back up and talked about Rachel hating Chloe. Kristen said they knew how to fix the situation. She walked away from them. Tripp told everyone in Kayla’s room that Marlena got the serum. Kayla passed out. Roman came in and said Marlena was recovering. Steve said they were running out of time. Steve told them to give Kayla the serum. Kayla passed out. Tripp and Rex gave her CPR. Roman wanted to know if it was safe to give Kate the serum. Kayla woke up. Rex and Tripp said there was no way to know if the serum made Kayla act the way she did. Kayla wanted to let Roman know what happened wasn’t his fault. Chad and Kate talked about his new job with Stephanie. He said he wasn’t ready to move on from Abby. Kate passed out while they were talking. Rex and Roman showed up. Rex gave her the serum. The serum worked for her. Kate wanted Chad and Rex to leave so she could be with Roman. Kristen went to see Marlena. Kristen yelled at her for not helping her with Rachel’s custody. Kristen said God helped Marlena and would help her too. She walked out of Marlena’s room. Brady told Chloe they couldn’t go on like this. He said he loved her, but his daughter was miserable. He said he had to put her first. She asked if he was breaking up with her. He said he was sorry. He told her he loved her. Kristen showed up and told him she knew he could do it. He said she wouldn’t get away with it. She said she already did. She said Chloe would be fine.

Jack let Xander know that he couldn’t hire him because he gave Gwen the job. He let Xander know what can happen at the newspaper. Xander assured him that he would never cheat on Sarah. He said he cared for Gwen, but he didn’t love her. Jack knew he was over her, but he didn’t think Gwen was over him. He wanted to make sure that Gwen made good choices. Jack offered to lend him some money, but he turned it down. Ava went to see Gwen at the hospital. She wanted her help getting revenge on EJ. She refused to help her. She wanted to be a good daughter to Jack. She didn’t want to mess that up by helping her. Gwen hoped that Ava made EJ pay for what he did. EJ found Johnny looking through a desk at DiMera. Johnny lied and said he was there to apologize for what happened with Ava. EJ wasn’t sure if he believed him. Johnny wanted to look at his computer, but EJ said he didn’t belong behind a desk. Johnny left so EJ made sure the DiMera devices were secured.

Gabi told Li that Stefan was there to sign the divorce papers. Li thought the papers were signed, but Gabi said they weren’t signed yet. Li checked out the papers and wanted to be the witness. Stefan signed so he could be free of Gabi for good. Gabi hesitated at first, but she signed the papers. Li signed the papers too. Stefan decided to take the papers so he could file the paperwork himself. He wanted to make sure their marriage was done for good. Li wanted to make sure that Gabi was okay. She lied and said that she was okay. She wanted to know about his first day working with EJ. He said he was doing it until he could get rid of the DiMeras. he assured her the two of them would be running the company. Stefan told EJ that he got a divorce. EJ thought Stefan should be excited about it, but Stefan had a forced smile on his face.

Chloe went to see Kristen. Chloe said it was best for them if they worked together for Rachel’s sake. Kristen said Chloe being out of Rachel’s life would be best. Chloe accused Kristen of putting the note in Rachel’s lunchbox. Kristen said she didn’t know what she was talking about. Kristen accused Chloe of changing the judge’s mind at the hearing. Chloe said she did and would do it again. She said Brady was happy about it. Kristen told Chloe that Rachel hated her. Kristen said Chloe should give Brady his freedom before Rachel hated him. Chloe said she tried to do that, but it didn’t work. Kristen said she had a feeling that it wouldn’t last long. Chloe said Brady wouldn’t dream about giving her what she wanted. Kristen said maybe Brady wanted to be the one to end it. Kristen wondered why Chloe was there instead of with Brady at Marlena’s deathbed. Chloe walked out. Kristen said her bad day was just beginning. Nicole showed up while Eric was on the phone with Sami. Nicole asked about Marlena, Kate and Kayla. He told her how they were. He told her Kate and Roman got married. Nicole said Kate and Roman have been through a lot, but they were each other’s destiny. Eric said some couples were like that. He was about to leave to see Marlena when Nicole stopped him. She said he was always there for other people and that someone should be there for him. They hugged each other. Rafe showed up while they were hugging. Rafe told them about the solution. Eric went to see Marlena. Nicole said she hoped the medication worked. Rafe said he hoped it did too so she could stop hugging Eric.

Rafe told Nicole that he was getting tired of seeing her hugging Eric. She said she was supporting her friend. He said it was an excuse. He said he was her husband now. He said she forgot that she was married to him. She told him it was her idea to get married. He said she wanted to do it right away because she saw Eric at Abe and Paulina’s wedding. She said she wanted a simple wedding. He said she felt that she let go of Eric too easily. He thought he was a mistake to her. He said she thought if she married him, she would stop pining after Eric. She said he was her husband and she loved him. He asked her why she didn’t ask if she could work with Eric. He said it felt as if she wanted to recreate the magic she and Eric had when they first fell in love. Brady stopped John from destroying the vial. Brady didn’t tell him how he knew about the vial. He said it could be what they were waiting for. Jada said John wouldn’t forgive himself if it was the cure. John said he knew they were right. Rex went to analyze the serum. Jada asked Brady if he knew who wrote the note about the serum. He said he didn’t. She wondered why he wanted to use the serum so badly. He said he wanted to help. John and Shawn went to Marlena’s room. They told Belle about the serum. Marlena asked Shawn to take care of Belle. John told Marlena to hold on a little longer. Eric showed up at the hospital. He thanked her for getting the serum there. She said she wanted it to work, but she wondered where it came from. He said he didn’t want to leave his mother alone. He asked her to get his father and Kate if it worked. Rex told Brady that the serum was the same one from 25 years ago. Rex went to Marlena’s room. He said the serum wasn’t 100 percent, but he felt good about it. Marlena wanted him to use the serum. She told Eric that she wanted the last rites. John said she was the one great love of his life. Rex gave her the injection.

EJ wanted to make sure that Li knew where his loyalty was supposed to be especially after what he did to Stefan. Stefan walked in the room while they were talking. EJ made sure to stress how much he supported Stefan. Li questioned his mental capacity. The men decide to talk about the business. EJ wanted to make sure that Gabi was kept out of the loop. Li was okay with that. EJ started to badmouth Gabi, but Stefan wanted him to stop doing it. EJ questioned why he stopped him. Stefan didn’t think it was right to talk about her like that. EJ was willing to do it behind his back. Stefan walked out of the room. EJ let Li know that he was just testing to see if Rolf’s conditioning for him worked. Neither of them bought Stefan’s excuse for defending Gabi. Li got upset at him for disrespecting Gabi. EJ wanted to know what he planned to do about it.

Gwen dreamt about Xander when Jack showed up. He found her making out with her pillow. She was embarrassed, but she told him that she was dreaming. Jack realized she was dreaming about Xander. She remembered Xander being by her side as if he really cared about her. She knew he didn’t have feelings for her. Jack wanted her to think about the future. She told him that she didn’t have a job or a home. Jack invited her to live with him. Xander told Maggie and Sarah that he asked Victor if they could move in with them. Maggie was surprised they wanted to move there. They told Maggie that Xander had a lot of debt and she’s only earning half of her salary. He said that he hoped Jack would hire him. He thought about Jack telling him that Jennifer ran Gwen over with the car. He told Sarah and Maggie that Jack was distracted by Gwen so he wasn’t sure he would get the job. Stefan went by Gabi’s with divorce papers. She noticed that he didn’t sign the papers. She told him to go first. He started to sign it, but he stopped himself. She tried to convince him not to sign the papers because he loves her. He stared at her when Li showed up.

Jada joins Eric in his room and invites him to lunch. Eric says he’d love to but he has a photoshoot today. Jada thought he was still taking time off but Eric says that since Marlena, Kate, and Kayla are doing so much better because the serum is really working, he’s back at work. Eric then gets a text from Basic Black Corporate and then informs Jada that he just got fired.

Nicole sits at Basic Black and shuts her laptop. Chloe arrives and apologizes for being late. Nicole tells her it’s okay as she assumed Chloe and Brady would have a late night at the hospital but she’s glad to hear the good news about Marlena and the others. Chloe cries that she’s assuming Brady had a late night but it wasn’t with her because he dumped her.

John comes home to Brady and says he’s just picking up patient files for Marlena since she doesn’t want to take a day off work while recovering. John talks about being surprised that the serum showed up. Brady agrees that they got lucky. John asks him if everything is alright. Brady says the fact that Marlena, Kate, and Kayla are seemingly cured is the best news ever. John questions why he’s trying to fool him then and what he’s not saying.

Kristen sits in her apartment, reading the article in the Spectator about Kate, Kayla, and Marlena being cured by a mystery serum. Kristen toasts a glass of champagne to their recovery and says they don’t know what it has given her. Stefan shows up and tells Kristen to be straight with him as he asks if she messed with his brain.

Brady informs John that he broke up with Chloe. John doesn’t understand. Brady explains that it’s not about Chloe but about Rachel. John understands that Rachel blames Chloe for not letting her see Kristen but argues that can’t be it. Brady claims that it is as he can’t put Rachel through much more. Brady knows it’s not fair to Chloe, but says Rachel comes first. John calls it so out of the blue since he was hopeful that Rachel would come around. John questions what the hell happened to make him stop all that and take such a drastic step. Brady thinks back to Kristen’s demands. Brady then tells John that it was only sudden to him because he’s been preoccupied. John argues that he hates to see Brady throw something so great away without thinking it through. Brady responds that he has thought it through and he doesn’t have a choice.

Stefan tells Kristen that he’s grateful to her for everything she did to bring him back but it’s his feelings for Gabi. Stefan says it’s almost as if something was done to his brain before he was revived and she was there, so she would know. Stefan asks Kristen why he hates Gabi so much.

Gabi visits Rafe in his office at the police station and asks him to spill the tea. Rafe informs Gabi that he and Nicole had a fight after he walked in on her comforting Eric with a hug. Rafe says it was understandable as they’ve always been close and Marlena was really sick. Rafe talks about how Nicole and Eric’s marriage didn’t end the way they imagined so it’s understandable that they still have unresolved feelings. Rafe admits he got more and more frustrated and exploded in a rant at Nicole, so he slept in his office. Gabi tells Rafe that he’s not where he’s supposed to be. Gabi tells him that he should be with Nicole, trying to fix this together.

Chloe cries to Nicole that Brady wants to be a good father so he’s put Rachel first and he is as upset as she is, but he keeps saying he doesn’t have a choice. Nicole can’t believe Kristen is using her daughter like this. Chloe says things were so good for her and Brady this time as it happened so quickly but it ended just as quickly. Nicole tells her that she’s so sorry but she knows what it’s like because she thinks she might be next and it’s her own damn fault.

Jada questions why Eric was fired. Eric reads the message which just says his services are no longer required. Jada argues that it doesn’t make any sense since they just hired him. Eric agrees but insists that EJ must have had something to do with it. Jada asks if the e-mail is from EJ. Eric sees that it is not and that it’s from Nicole.

Rafe tells Gabi that he thinks it’s a bad idea because if he goes home, he and Nicole could end up in round two and then they both end up losing. Rafe blames himself for letting this go too long. Gabi understands that Rafe was hoping it would go away and giving Nicole the benefit of the doubt like Li has been doing with her since Stefan came back. Gabi informs Rafe that Stefan served her divorce papers this morning, so it’s definitely long gone and she loves Li. Rafe is sorry as he knows that must have been tough. Gabi says she never expected to see Stefan alive again but she needs to get over it and accept that the person she loved with all her heart finds her repulsive and is disgusted by her. Rafe calls that crazy and insists that Gabi is beautiful, successful, and smart. Rafe argues that Stefan was lucky to have had Gabi. Gabi calls him a loyal brother and thanks him but says she’s accepted the fact that it will never work out for her and Stefan. Gabi adds that she can’t get rid of the feeling that Dr. Rolf did something to Stefan to make him feel this way but Rolf is hiding underground so she can’t track him down to confront him about it. Rafe reveals that he can tell her where to find Dr. Rolf.

Dr. Rolf cleans up his lab while complaining about the cops searching his lab. Li arrives and calls it quite the mess. Li informs Dr. Rolf that he may have a solution and suggests he leave the lab the way it is. Dr. Rolf asks if he lost his mind. Li responds that he needs a new lab with everything he could desire. Dr. Rolf would like to see it. Li says it’s a little more involved than just a drive. Dr. Rolf asks how far away they are talking. Li reveals it’s 10,000 miles away.

Nicole tells Chloe that she was shocked because she’s never seen Rafe so upset and angry. Chloe says she’s sorry. Nicole adds that Rafe hasn’t returned her calls and texts. Nicole can’t stop thinking about the day she had a sex dream about Eric and how she had to go see him, then Jada was there so she lied about why she was there. Nicole says her reaction to the dream and the feelings it stirred up is the sole reason that Eric ended up working at Basic Black. Nicole declares that it’s now taken care of.

Jada comments on Eric being fired by e-mail. Eric wonders if EJ forced Nicole or if he’s just not that good anymore. Jada thinks back to seeing Rafe and Nicole arguing about Eric working with Nicole. Eric then asks Jada what it is. Jada reveals that she thinks she knows why this happened. Eric questions what she means and how she could know. Jada reminds Eric that he asked her to go to the Pub to let Roman know about the serum last night. Jada informs him that when she got there, Rafe and Nicole were arguing outside and she didn’t mean to eavesdrop but she didn’t want to interrupt so she caught the end of their fight. Eric asks what they were arguing about. Jada responds that it was about Eric.

Gabi questions Rafe knowing where Dr. Rolf is. Rafe informs her that they raided his secret lab the other day, thinking they would find the serum. Rafe says they didn’t find it but they did find Dr. Rolf so he suggests starting there. Gabi decides she’s going. Rafe wants to send a cop with her but Gabi says she’s not afraid of Dr. Rolf and doesn’t need an escort. Gabi says she’s been wanting answers since the day that Stefan showed up and rejected her, so she’s kind of overwhelmed that she might get the truth.

Kristen tells Stefan that she’s not his enemy. Kristen says he’s her brother and she loves him, so if she could help him she would. Kristen questions why she would want to manipulate his feelings for Gabi even if she could. Kristen says that she and Gabi were allies against EJ at DiMera Enterprises and claims that she would love it if Stefan and Gabi were together. Stefan guesses that makes sense. Stefan says maybe he was thinking about it wrong since Kristen is obviously not anti-Gabi, so maybe she’s just pro-Chloe.

John questions Brady saying he had no choice but to break up with Chloe and argues that there’s always a choice. Brady claims he didn’t mean it to come out like that and says he’s doing what’s best for his child no matter what. Brady calls John a great dad so he gets it. John respects Brady’s decision and devotion to support his daughter, but he’s just sorry to see Chloe go.

Chloe questions Nicole firing Eric in an e-mail. Nicole admits that she took the easy way out and didn’t even give him a reason why. Nicole calls it the right thing to do since Rafe was so upset about Eric and brutally honest about it, so she didn’t have a choice. Chloe wonders why Nicole really fired Eric. Nicole says she just explained that. Chloe asks if it’s because she’s feeling guilty about lying to Rafe or if there’s more. Chloe questions if Nicole wants to get back on track with Rafe and for her marriage to work. Rafe then walks in and declares that he’d like to know the answer to that himself.

Eric asks Jada if this is all about something Rafe said. Jada confirms that Rafe was upset about Nicole hiring Eric and said that it was a terrible idea. Eric questions Rafe being jealous of him. Jada confirms that he’s jealous of Nicole’s feelings for him. Eric realizes that Nicole fired him to save her marriage.

Chloe decides to let Nicole and Rafe talk, so she exits the office. Nicole tells Rafe that she’s very glad he’s there. Nicole says this is so hard and she doesn’t know where to start. Rafe starts by apologizing for losing his temper and saying things he shouldn’t have said. Nicole feels she should be apologizing for pushing back on everything he said. Rafe says he just wanted to let her know where he was at emotionally. Rafe repeats that he said things he shouldn’t have said and that’s not how he wanted to handle it. Nicole tells him not to blame himself because she was unfair to him by being so close with Eric. Nicole acknowledges that it’s Jada’s place to console Eric and not hers. Nicole says that Eric doesn’t need her to employ him. Nicole wants Rafe to know that she heard him loud and clear last night when he said that Eric working here was a terrible idea, so she did something about it. Nicole informs Rafe that she fired Eric. Rafe responds that she shouldn’t have done that.

John apologizes to Brady for pushing him so hard about Chloe when it’s his business. John knows Brady doesn’t need him twisting his arm to do what he thinks is right. Brady asks if Marlena is doing good and getting better along with Kate and Kayla. John calls it a miracle and says there’s no other word for it. Brady calls that the best news ever. John declares that in reality, they both know the serum didn’t just drop from the heavens. John doesn’t have a clue where it came from but he just wants to be sure the serum will keep working. John says he will stay optimistic. Brady knows John feels skeptical about it, but his gut tells him that everything’s going to be just fine and the serum is working, so it doesn’t matter where it came from.

Dr. Rolf questions Li trying to get rid of him. Li says they both stand to gain from this but Dr. Rolf disagrees. Li reminds him that the police already suspect him to be linked to the disease that struck Kayla, Marlena, and Kate so Salem is not the place for him right now. Dr. Rolf reluctantly agrees with him and says he doesn’t have much to pack. Li tells Dr. Rolf that his private jet awaits. Dr. Rolf still feels like he’s running. Li says that he is but there’s no shame in that. Li adds that the police are not the only ones looking for him as Gabi is too. Li says that Gabi wants to know if he brainwashed Stefan in to hating her and warns that he doesn’t want that nor does Kristen.

Kristen questions Stefan thinking she did all these mind altering things to play matchmaker for Chloe. Stefan clarifies that it would be for Kristen and Brady. Stefan says it’s no secret that Kristen’s been obsessed with Brady and that Chloe was in her way while he then miraculously and coincidentally woke up from a four year long nap with this intense disgust for Gabi and an equally intense longing for Chloe. Stefan says that’s the only way he can explain it. Kristen admits it makes sense but points out the detail that Brady and Chloe broke up which she claims was no thanks to her. Kristen tells Stefan that means Chloe is free.

Brady tells John to call him from the hospital with any updates which he agrees to do. John goes to leave right as Chloe arrives. Chloe asks how everything is going at the hospital. John says Marlena is getting better by the minute and he doesn’t even want to think about what would’ve happened if the serum hadn’t dropped from the heavens. Chloe says she’s happy for him. John says it’s good to see her as he then exits.

Stefan questions how Kristen knows about Brady and Chloe. Kristen says good news travels fast and it proves her point that Brady and Chloe were a ticking time bomb. Kristen imagines Stefan still has lingering doubts about his feelings from before the four years he was gone until now. Kristen says he had four years to resolve his conflicting feelings and woke up with a new sense of purpose, having finally figured it all out. Kristen declares that Stefan is now finally going after what he truly wants. Kristen claims it’s just her opinion and suggests he trust his gut. Stefan apologizes for bursting in like this and decides to get going. Kristen says he has a lot to think about as Stefan then exits. Kristen remarks that she does feel a little bad for Stefan, but she doesn’t need him to come between Brady and Chloe anymore, though it’s better safe than sorry.

Li assures Dr. Rolf that leaving is the best option as it’s better to be safe than sorry. Dr. Rolf argues that he’s not intimidated by Gabi and he can handle her. Li calls him a genius and an idiot. Li argues that Gabi is a lioness and would get the truth out of him in two seconds. Li encourages Dr. Rolf to go, so he’ll also be out of Rafe’s jurisdiction. Dr. Rolf says he will need a little time to get his things in order. Li says he will send a car to take him to the airport and insists that he’s doing the right thing. Li then exits the lab.

Nicole doesn’t understand as she thought she did the right thing. Rafe says they are supposed to be partners and they aren’t in a good patch, but he doesn’t want her to fire Eric because of him. Nicole questions what he wants then and argues that she did it to fix them, but it hasn’t. Nicole questions what the next step is and where they stand. Nicole pleads with Rafe to tell her what she can do or what he wants. Rafe responds that he wants them to be okay. Nicole says she does too but questions if that’s possible after last night since Rafe didn’t even come home. Rafe apologizes and explains that he was worried that he would just make things worse if he did. Nicole suggests they could’ve worked things out and had incredible make up sex. Nicole tells Rafe that she missed him so much. Rafe says he missed her too and they kiss until Rafe gets paged back to the police station. Rafe tells Nicole that she will see him tonight and kisses her goodbye as he then exits the office. Nicole then sits back down looking frustrated.

Eric knows Jada feels bad for sharing what she overheard but he thanks her because he needed to know. Eric decides he’s not going to a photoshoot after all and his afternoon will be free, so they can have lunch here. Jada points out that her lunch break is over now. Eric apologizes for talking her ear off. Jada says she has to head back to the station but they agree on dinner as they hug.

Brady questions what Chloe is doing here. Chloe apologizes and says she won’t be long but she left some things in his bedroom. Brady tells her to go ahead. Brady then stops her and says he feels really terrible. Chloe cries that she knows why he did what he did. Chloe then heads to get her things. The doorbell rings and Kristen arrives with her bag packed.

Rafe returns to his office. Jada comes in after him and asks if he has a minute. Rafe asks what’s up. Jada says it’s kind of awkward but she accidentally heard some of the fight between he and Nicole last night. Rafe admits that wasn’t his best moment and he’s sorry she had to hear that. Jada assures that she didn’t mean to overhear but she felt that he should know that she told Eric what she heard. Rafe is surprised to hear her say that. Jada explains that she was with Eric when he got an e-mail from Nicole that he was fired and he was so confused and she didn’t know how to help him, so she felt he should know. Rafe tells her not to worry about it as everything will work out fine. Rafe tells Jada that he never told Nicole to fire Eric and actually told her it was a mistake and that she should rehire him. Rafe declares that he has to be able to trust his wife.

Nicole goes to Eric’s room and says she wanted to explain the e-mail from earlier. Eric says he knows she didn’t fire him over budget cuts and that it’s about her marriage.

Brady questions what Kristen is doing here. Kristen reminds him that they talked about this. Brady argues that he just broke up with Chloe last night and needs more time. Kristen argues that she helped him dodge a bullet. Chloe comes out with a box of her things and questions what is going on. Kristen guesses Brady didn’t have the chance to tell her that she’s moving in.

At the PCPD, Anna told Portia the truth that Lucy had been working for her on an investigation targeting Victor Cassadine, who was being held for questioning in the interrogation room. Portia asked Anna if she believed Victor could have had Lucy killed and Anna told her that she believed it was entirely possible. Anna eventually lost it and rushed into the interrogation room and told Victor that if he didn’t start talking she would make it her personal vendetta to bring him down.

At that point, Victor’s attorney arrived and asked why he was being interrogated without counsel? Victor said that they were all just “caching up.”

Nina’s nosiness got her into another heated exchange with TJ. She did her best to get him to admit to the affair that he isn’t actually having with Willow. Nina asked for an explanation from TJ about his closeness to Willow and how they seem to be together quite a lot when Michael isn’t around. TJ declined to give Nina any details and told her to mind her own business. Nina told TJ that it was her business because Wiley was her grandchild. TJ did not respond to her further goading and when Sonny walked over to see what was wrong, TJ said goodbye to Sonny and shot Nina a dirty look and pointedly did not say goodbye to her.

Michael overheard Ned leaving a voice mail message for Valentine detailing how he was very upset that Valentine never returns his calls. Michael inquired as to whether Ned’s decision to ally himself with Valentine was working out well. Ned was obstinate and shot back at Michael, wanting to know if the stock free fall at Aurora Media had been contained. Michael answered that it had been and the situation quickly escalated into a screaming match. This upset an already ill Willow to the point of her becoming obviously in distress. Olivia came to her aid first and asked if she was alright, which then triggered Michael to come to check on her. Olivia suggested that Willow get some fresh air and then she asked Michael and Ned if they were proud of themselves. She was obviously furious that their juvenile behavior had upset a pregnant woman in their own household. Willow went for walk and found footprints leading up to one of the Quartermaine guesthouses. Willow investigated and found a woman she did not recognize, she screamed and her screams were heard by Michael, Olivia and Ned in the kitchen of the main house. Willow came rushing back into the main house and described what she had seen. Michael asked her if she thought it was Lucy’s assailant and Willow said she didn’t know. Ned picked up the phone to call Dante and Olivia was going to phone security but Michael rushed out, intent on confronting the individual before they could get away. Olivia pursued Michael, screaming for him to wait. Michael and Olivia reached the guesthouse and Olivia implored Michael to wait for the police. But, Michael told her to get back and he smashed the door of the guesthouse. Michael looked perplexed as he saw the woman inside. When Olivia, ran up she was horrified, like she had seen a ghost.

A pow-wow with Sonny convinced Curtis that he should, “explore genetic counseling,” if, for no other reason, than in the case that he and Portia decide to have any children together, they would know. Sonny and Curtis being unaware that Portia and Curtis already have a child who is the picture of health.

Back at the PCPD, drone footage from Pier 55 was made available for everyone to see what happened on the Pier. When the footage was called up on the screen, no one could believe their eyes.

Meanwhile at General Hospital, Epiphany readied herself for her MCATs and had a heated exchange with Marshall for ever building up her self confidence enough to let her pursue what she regarded as a foolish dream. Marshall quickly talked her down by stating all the wonderful qualities that Epiphany has and how no one can run GH like she can. Epiphany seemed satisfied and she gave Marshall a kiss on the cheek as she headed to the testing location.

Trina and Rory headed for a comic book convention after Rory was finally able to break free from work. He was delighted and thrilled; she wasn’t exactly, but she explained to Rory that if he found this form of art interesting that she was willing to go into the experience with an open mind.

Epiphany began the process of the MCAT exam and as she saw the first question come up on the screen, she smiled.

Back at the Quartermaine guest house, Robert arrived with Ned and before he could go inside the guest house a concerned Olivia told him before he went inside he should, “prepare himself.” Robert went inside and was stunned to find Holly seated in the front of the room. “Hello, Robert,” Holly said. Robert looked on with shock.

Kyle and Summer enjoy some romantic time on their honeymoon and later Kyle tells Summer that he feels more at peace since Diane came back into his life.

Nikki gets Talia to do a profile on Tucker for the magazine for which she works but Tucker doesn’t give her any useful information for her article.

Diane tells Jack that when she lived in Los Angeles she dated and fell in love with a financier named Jeremy Stark. Diane explains to Jack that he took her on two trips with him and for the first time in her life she felt like someone was taking care of her. Diane tells Jack she later found out that Jeremy was hiding a lot of money in her suitcases, and when she arrived at her destination, he would deposit the money in the bank. Diane told Jeremy she knew that he was using her, and she didn’t want to do it anymore. Jeremy then told Diane that she would keep working for him or he would contact her family and tell them she was alive. Jeremy asked to meet with her one day and told her that a friend in the Justice Department told him he would be arrested soon, and when he heard the police cars coming, he told her to leave so she wouldn’t be arrested. Diane tells Jack that six months before she started sending him those text messages, she saw Tucker in Los Angeles and he told her he had found Allie. Tucker wanted Diane to find a way to tell the Abbott’s about Allie or he would turn her in to the police as Jeremy’s accomplice. Jack is stunned by everything Diane has told him, but since Phyllis interrupts their conversation, he tells Diane they will continue their conversation later and he walks out of his office.

Mariah: Yeah, she helped us set up a profile that we put online.

Sharon: Yeah, I remember you mentioned that. It’s some kind of national database.

Mariah: Yeah, and our posting hasn’t been up that long,

Tessa: But if the right expectant mother sees it.

Mariah: Not if, okay? When. This is going to happen.

Tessa: Yes. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I will stay positive. It’s just hard after the experience with the first lawyer.

Mariah: Who said that our chances of being considered as adoptive parents was virtually zero considering our colorful pasts.

Jack: And you’d rather she found employment elsewhere.

Allie: Well, she says that she’s here just for the job and that he has nothing to do with it, but I’m just not so sure. I don’t know. She keeps showing up wherever he is.

Jack: So what does noah say?

Allie: Well, noah says that he wants nothing to do with her.

Jack: Well, there. You have no reason to be concerned.

Allie: It’s not that simple. Oh, she is very assertive and glamorous and, well, they have this history.

Jack: It is hard for me to imagine her being more glamorous than you are.

Allie: Come on.

Jack: No, I mean that. She and noah split up for a reason. Everyone knows how much he adores you. Don’t let this situation make you feel insecure.

Allie: Thanks, jack. I really needed to hear that.

Jack: And if this woman gives you any grief, you give it right back.

Allie: You know what? I just might do that.

Phyllis: It’s strong intuition is what it is.

Ashley: Oh, that?

Phyllis: Yeah, well, we need to get him to our side. We need incriminating evidence…

Ashley: I agree.

Phyllis: …Yes, that tucker and diane were in L.A. Together, collaborating.

Nikki: And what was the nature of that collaboration? Was it something personal? Was it a moneymaking scheme? And how does that play out now that they’ve both returned to genoa city?

Audra: Devon and lily are gonna postpone the ipo while they sort things out.

Tucker: Oh, that’s to be expected, I suppose. We’ll just have to be patient. You’ll keep me apprized, of course.

Audra: Of course. But there’s a larger problem than the delay.

Tucker: Oh, let me guess. Some mysterious ceo who’s as interested in taking over chancellor-winters as I am.

Audra: That’s right. Any thoughts on the identity of the interested party?

Tucker: Mm. Many. But one name keeps coming to the surface — victoria newman.

Audra: That would be a reach, I think.

Tucker: I don’t think so because katherine — when she died, she left the company to victor. So, there’s history there. Victoria would know that and try to honor it. Hey, victoria. What a welcome coincidence. Ah, you look as lovely as ever.

Victoria: And you still have the same silver tongue.

Tucker: Can you join me? I’d love to catch up with you.

Victoria: I suppose that i can while I’m waiting for my takeout. It’s as good a way as any to pass the time.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Allow me.

Victoria: I gather from your dramatic entrance at the abbott’s that ashley is the unfortunate recipient of your attention right now.

Diane: Oh, have you seen the photos from kyle and summer’s first day of their honeymoon?

Jack: Yeah, I just looked at those. Seem to be enjoying themselves immensely.

Diane: It’s such an idyllic setting. They look so happy and so in love.

Jack: I’m glad they’ve taken the time off from work and everything else that’s going on.

Diane: By “everything else,” I gather that you still think tucker and I led some sort of secret life in L.A.?

[ Sighs ] I see you’re not denying it. You’re doubting my honesty all over again because of phyllis. I just — I hate that she’s turning you against me.

Tucker: Oh, I’ve noticed everything you’ve done. I’m impressed with everything you’ve done with the company since you took over.

Victoria: I take it you were getting all of the business news while you were at the ashram?

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] I plead the fifth.

Victoria: What about the mystical experience? Did you glean any insight into yourself?

Tucker: You mean into my cold, black heart?

Tucker: Well, a spiritual retreat’s really only as good as what you’re willing to put into it, and, back then, I wasn’t ready to do the work.

Victoria: Yes, but you love to keep people guessing, so I guess it wasn’t a total waste, was it?

Tucker: You know, you’re the perfect blend of your parents. You’ve got nikki’s deft way of handling people, and, of course, you’ve got victor’s business acumen.

Victoria: I’ll take that as a compliment.

Tucker: You should. It was meant as one. I think you like to keep people guessing, too.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. With all the recent acquisitions you’ve been making and the aggressive expansion of the company, that’s had to have kept people surprised, including some in your own company, I’m sure. I used to be like that.

Nikki: So how did that go?

Ashley: It didn’T. He stood me up.

Ashley: It worked out for the best, though, because I was able to spend more time with jack, trying to get him to open up his eyes regarding diane.

Ashley: He did. Eventually, he showed up right when I was about to leave, and, apparently, he had some kind of an emergency with devon.

Phyllis: I believe that. I do. He’s obsessed with you. I mean, he wouldn’t blow you off on purpose.

Tessa: No, I can’T. I am just too excited.

Christine: And you’re entitled.

Mariah: Christine, we owe you so much. I mean, the way that you’ve guided us through this process and helped us put ourselves out there. I know that we were just at the beginning of this journey, but we wouldn’t have even gotten this far if it weren’t for you.

Sharon: I’m really looking forward to reading your profile. It sounds really special.

Christine: Yeah, we wanted to focus on the future they would create for this child and the loving environment they’d provide. Also the incredibly supportive, extended family who will be part of this baby’s life.

Mariah: What do we do now?

[ Chuckles ]

Christine: Well, the next step is to exchange e-mails with the young woman. Her name is joss, by the way.

Tessa: Cool name.

Christine: Yeah, maybe you’ll have a phone call with her. I have gathered some information from her social worker, and, I mean, she’s really sincere about wanting to place this child with a family.

Sharon: Well, I always like to be the voice of caution, but this sounds like a really great step.

Mariah: [ Sighs ]

Nikki: Well, tucker knows he screwed up by letting you sit there. I mean, he’s the one who invited you, and he knew that you weren’t thrilled about going to see him anyway, so he’s just going to have to try harder to convince you that he’s sincere. And if there’s anything I know about men, they love the chase.

Phyllis: You have superior logic. I bow to you.

Nikki: As you should.

Phyllis: And then when you make him jump through hoops, you finally agree to spend some time with him. Go to dinner. Let him talk about how you had a great love, he’s a changed man. Blah, blah, blah. Then you reconnect.

Nikki: No, pretend to reconnect.

Ashley: It’s not going to be easy. I can barely stand to be in the same room with that man.

Nikki: Well, I understand, but given the stakes, eliminating diane from our lives, I’m sure you can find a way to hold your nose long enough to get that done.

Diane: Phyllis has made it her mission to keep me a pariah in this town. The woman is relentless. I mean, ever since I came back, she’s been trying to create suspicion about me, and it’s working. Because of her unfounded accusations, you’re distancing yourself from me, and that hurts, which is exactly what phyllis intended.

Jack: Don’t make this all about phyllis. The timing of tucker’s return, the unfortunate coincidence of this vintage bentley — they bring up a lot of questions, and neither of you have given reassuring answers.

Diane: What can I do to convince you that there is nothing to this?

Jack: I’m not sure you can. This has been eye-opening for me. I’ve been giving you the benefit of the doubt for a long time now, but if I’m honest with myself, I still have trouble trusting you, and I’m not sure that’s ever going to change.

Phyllis: Oh, definitely. I mean, this is a gift for us. I mean, we realize that your main objective here is to write a book on diane.

Nikki: Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Phyllis: Um, yes, I am.

Nikki: It is highly likely that this influential someone is tucker mccall.

Phyllis: The one and only.

Talia: Wow. So he could be involved in diane’s story.

Nikki: Oh, mark my words. He is involved. It’s just a matter of finding out how and why.

Tucker: As I’m sure you’ve heard, I’m doing just the opposite of expanding my company.

Tucker: I understand that jill has stepped back from chancellor, and I really admire her for that, you know, ’cause she’s made her mark and achieved her ambitions, and she’s got nothing left to prove. So she’s enjoying her life away from the corporate battlefield. I often think about doing the same.

Tucker: Well, semi-retirement. Maybe right here in good, old genoa city. I always did love this place.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] I’m sorry, but I find it a little farfetched that you’re going to just pack it all in and do what? You going to take up pickleball?

Tucker: Yeah, right? Someday you’ll understand. It kind of sneaks up on you.

Victoria: So what is your take on the chancellor-winter merger? Were you upset that your mother’s company joined forces with your son’s company? You weren’t even in the mix.

Tucker: Not at all. I couldn’t be more pleased for devon. How it all turned out. You don’t have to worry, victoria. I’m not stockpiling cash to make a run at newman. I don’t see you as an adversary.

Victoria: The thought never crossed my mind.

Ashley: I know how obsessed you are with living life on the edge and pushing your boundaries and facing new challenges, you know?

Tucker: The only challenge I’m currently focused on is proving to you that —

Tucker: Actually, “challenge” is the wrong word. I think “opportunity” is better. It’S… it’s a chance to take what you and I have learned about love and life and finally get it right ’cause we had such a beautiful connection and can again.

Diane: I don’t know what to say. This is beyond disappointing. Jack, I thought he’d made such progress. How could it be undone so easily? Phyllis shares some convoluted suspicion with you about tucker and me, and you just buy it without hesitation?

Jack: I didn’t say that.

Diane: No, but that’s what’s happening. She poured poison into your ear, and now you’re doubting my honesty all over again.

Jack: I will admit that it brought misgivings I thought I had buried back to the surface. Maybe I never got past them. Maybe I just held them in check for kyle’s sake or harrison’s, hoping that time would prove them wrong. My instincts tell me that they’re not. I have to get back to work.

Diane: [ Sighs ] I was taking my antidepressant daily,

Diane: Don’t even start.

Phyllis: Oh, I don’t have to. I don’t want to. I like our truce. Like it. I know you would self-sabotage. It was only a matter of time. Hey, it seems like jack has lost all faith in you. He’s probably waiting for another secret to come out. And, let’s be honest, we all know there is another secret. I know it. Jack knows it. Ashley knows it. Nikki and talia morgan. She knows it. Oh, she’s back in town. She’s doing some research on you. Oh, my gosh. You should’ve seen her face when she found out that tucker mccall was involved with you. A man of his stature — she was so excited. And you know those investigative people, they dig and dig and dig until they find what they want.

[ Sighs ] And once everything comes out, diane, the people you love the most, kyle and jack, they’ll finally know what your secret is.

Talia: A romance? Really?

Nikki: Mm-hmm. Diane is fascinating in a train wreck sort of a way, but adding a world-famous billionaire to the mix, that could push your book over to another level.

Talia: You are right about that.

Nikki: Now that they’re both back here in town, I am convinced that they have some kind of a plan, and that can’t be good.

Talia: Well, what we need now is some hard evidence, and you say ashley is working on getting that?

Nikki: Yeah. Well, I’m not going to sit back and wait for her to be successful. I have an idea of another way to get at the truth. Are you game?

Talia: Absolutely.

Tucker: You know what i remember most fondly about our time together? Just how simpatico we were. It was just effortless, you know? That’s ’cause we connected on such a deep level, and I just don’t think those kind of connections ever go away.

Nikki: I hope this isn’t a bad time.

Tucker: Oh, no, I just finished lunch.

Nikki: Are you free to stop by the ranch? There’s something I’d like to talk to you about in person.

Nikki: Excellent. See you shortly.

Diane: Unlike you, I am not looking for trouble, and I’m certainly not trying to create it.

Phyllis: Mm. Well, even if that were true, and we both know it isn’t, god, diane, you’ve wreaked so much havoc. You can’t live out the rest of your days in peace. You’ve betrayed so many people. You’ve lied. I mean, you certainly can’t live here. You never had a chance with jack. All you’re going to get from him is strained acceptance, and that’s it.

[ Indistinct conversations ] I guess… it’s too much to hope that he might just confess. We don’t know that there’s enough for him to confess to. Oh, come on. The evidence suggests otherwise. He had a date with lucy when she disappeared. We’re well within our rights to hold him for questioning. Yeah. But for now, he’s got an alibi. Yeah. Of course, because he always has other people do his dirty work for him. Anna, walk with me for a moment? When I first came back to the job, you and laura confided in me that you were working together to prove that victor killed luke spencer… and that he’s up to some even grander scheme. Do you want an update? That’s not it. Anna, as your friend, I’ve given you space to handle that investigation. Where is this coming from? You just got done saying I was doing a good job. I’m not doubting your adaptability or your business acumen. Then what is the problem? [ Scoffs ] So much for being civil. This is my civil. When you kept sonny from all of us, you didn’t just hurt carly and sonny’s kids. You hurt everybody who cares for him. Sonny and I share a firstborn son. We share a grandchild, so that includes me. Now, sonny may be okay with you now. That doesn’t mean that everyone else is going to be. my hospital. Today? A year ago. Oh. And you get me to tell you how, for my entire adult life, I’ve had this fantasy about going to med school, becoming a doctor after decades of nursing.

You encouraged me. Yes, I did. Why would you do that?! Who goes up to near-strangers and just encourages them?! Someone had to! And I’m glad it was me. Okay, officer falconeri, I am here. What’s so damned important? You haven’t heard from lucy since last night, have you? No. No, I haven’T. Why do you ask? Seems she’s gone missing. What do you mean “missing”? She was last seen on the docks. There were signs of foul play. What kind of signs? There was evidence of a gun being fired. A bullet casing was found near where she was on the pier. Jordan: I need you to level with me. What exactly did lucy get mixed up with? Uh, well, um… she was helping me with my investigation into victor. Helping how? Honestly, I just needed one piece of information, and then… she was getting in over her head, so I tried to pull her out, but I-I forgot how stubborn lucy can be. How hard did you really try to extract her? Well, I-I-I brought martin back here, because I thought that that would at least put an end to her ability to see victor. Well, clearly, this move didn’t work. No. I think it was too late. It might have cost her her life.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Coast guard search and rescue. Maybe they found evidence that lucy survived. This is commissioner ashford. What?

Pretty obvious that this thing with you and olivia is not — not working. Yeah, you warned me what I’d be in for if I bought into this place. I was hoping that I was wrong. Well, she pretty much came out and said that I’d be a good partner… that’s a step in the right direction, right? …If I didn’t do what I did to your family. Even though I’m looking out for them now. I’m quite sure it was not easy for your grandfather to open up about his diagnosis…

[Scoffs] Especially to me. And I made a point… to tell him that I don’t want to hear his excuses about why he abandoned your dad and me. But, t, I got to say, man, it never occurred to me how — how difficult it was to make that decision then and then trying to own up to it now. Well, the world has changed since marshall found out about his schizophrenia. Now, he comes from a time when, if you admitted you had a mental illness, that was considered a weakness, a source of shame, which is ridiculous, but you of all people, you know how much courage and how much strength it takes to reach out. You’ve certainly helped enough people. I’m sure, if the time came, you wouldn’t hesitate to rely on family. Well, here’s hoping. If you don’t mind my asking… have you and portia talked about having kids?

[ Exhales deeply ] T, there’s a — there’s a lot to consider first. Portia: There’s no reason

to even think about curtis having symptoms. I mean, a predisposition, that’s no guarantee that the illness will actually develop. Thank god you were spared that. Yeah. I mean, it looks like I’m in the clear. The only reason I would get tested is if I were to have children, because they could be affected. Nina: We aren’t interrupting, are we? It was a pipe dream, something for me to think about when I was bored or fed up with arrogant doctors.

[ Sighs ] No. The point is that I was happy and liked the road I was on and dreaming of the road not taken. But now, I’m — I’m — I’m at a fork in the road, and it’s all your fault! Now, no, no, no, no, epiphany. All I said was if going to medical school was something you wanted to look into, then you should. You called me “dr. Johnson.” Mm-hmm.

[ Sighs ] And now… all these years, I could say to myself, “epiphany johnson, you would have been a great doctor, especially compared to some of these arrogant yahoos.” It was something… for me to dream about, comfort myself with. Epiphany, how is — how is that gonna change? If I bomb these mcats, the dream is over. No more imaginary genius doctor. I’ll just be a real-life failure. It is the early stages of the investigation, okay? We don’t want to get locked into a theory and miss out on something that could be possibly important. Commissioner. Anna. Is there any news about lucy? The coast guard have finished their preliminary search. As almost a whole day has passed, they’re moving the operation from rescue to recovery. So, lucy — my lucy is presumed dead? Hmm? No, no, I’m sorry. I do not accept that. Not without sufficient evidence. And a single bullet casing is hardly proof of anyone’s demise. Come to think of it, what exactly is the proof she was even on the docks, huh? Much less went into the water. We did find her shoe. Alright, for the sake of argument, let’s say that it was lucy’S. It was probably a high-heeled stiletto. Is it not also equally plausible if somebody fired a shot — one shot — and missed, but that lucy got away? She was running. She lost her shoe in the process. I have teams searching the city to see if she might be hiding out anywhere. What exactly does he have to do with it? Hey, uh, marty, come on. Let’s go for a walk. I should let baldwin know. Yeah. [ Sighs ] Michael: You were the one leading the charge to keep elq in the family. Then, when what was best for the company meant that you couldn’t be ceo, you changed your tune really quick. [ Sighs ] I’ve been doing a lot of reading about genetic counseling, and I saw that there are tests to determine a person’s predisposition to alzheimer’S. Now, I’m not even asking you to divulge your — your — your decision, but I made a decision not to find out about certain risk factors that could affect me, and [Sighs] — And I’m — I’m just wondering if I made the right choice. Of course I want to go away with you. But…?

[ Scoffs ] A comic convention was never really on my bucket list of things to do. I’m sorry. No, I — I get it. Um. Not everyone’s into comics, and, uh, those of us who are — we can be a little enthusiastic, and sometimes that enthusiasm can be a little overwhelming. Which I totally get, and that’s why I’m going. You made such a huge effort to learn why I’m so fascinated about art and art history. No effort required. You make it interesting. With any luck, they caught something and we’ll finally get some answers.
