Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

John confronted Steve about knowing the truth about Katarina. He didn’t understand why he didn’t tell him what happened. EJ told Stefan that he wasn’t any use to Harris. He also told Stefan that Harris said he was the one who shot him. Stefan wanted to make sure EJ would still help him. EJ assured him that he would help him. Eric informed Sloan that Jude’s christening would be at the DiMera mansion instead of the pub. She didn’t want to do that because of Nicole, but he felt like she needed it. John couldn’t believe that Konstantin was the one who told him the truth. Marlena let him know that Steve was afraid to tell him the truth. Steve told him it might not be the truth. John said that he killed someone’s daughter. Harris asked Ava when she spoke to Stefan. She thought it was a few days ago. He wanted to talk to him about Clyde, but he couldn’t find him. EJ took care of Stefan’s info so he could leave Salem. He didn’t think it would happen so fast. EJ reminded him that he didn’t help Clyde or Harris. He informed him that he didn’t have too many options left. Stefan didn’t like EJ sending him to a war zone. Ava asked Harris if Stefan had something to do with Clyde’s escape. Harris thought he did it because he loved Gabi. Stefan didn’t speak the languages of the countries EJ was sending him. EJ was willing not to help him.

Eric met with Brady and asked him to be the godfather to his son. He said he couldn’t do it. John decided to turn himself into the police for what he did. Stefan wanted to say goodbye to Gabi, but EJ didn’t think it was a good idea. He wanted EJ to say goodbye for him, but he refused to do it. EJ wanted Stefan to ride in the trunk. Brady didn’t think he was a good father which was why he turned down Eric’s offer. Eric tried to make him feel better. John wanted to turn himself in, but Marlena and Steve talked him out of it. He thought he was a good guy. Marlena assured him that he was a good guy. John tried to justify what he did to people, but he couldn’t do it anymore. Stefan demanded to know why EJ wanted a government job when he had the DiMera empire. EJ told him that he better be grateful for his help after what he did to Holly. Eric continued to convince Brady to be Jude’s godfather. Brady finally agreed to do it. Marlena tried to convince John that he wasn’t a bad person. He let her know that he helped Clyde break out of jail. John apologized for letting Clyde escape prison. He wanted to go to Konstantin to make things right. Steve reminded him that he’s trying to rip off Maggie. Brady talked to Eric about Holly lying about how she got the drugs. He was afraid that Tate’s life would be over if Holly didn’t tell the truth. EJ warned Stefan that Harris would be back to question the staff about him. Marlena didn’t want John to go to the police. Stefan went to Ava’s place and ran into Harris. Harris said he wasn’t going anywhere.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Eric meets Theresa in the town square. Theresa comments on Jude reminding her of when Tate was that little. Eric knows it can be rough raising a teenager. Theresa tells him to wait until he hears the latest.

Maggie takes care of Victoria at the Kiriakis Mansion. Konstantin comes in and talks about when his daughter Catharina was that age. Maggie asks if he has any suggestions to get Victoria to stop crying. Konstantin offers to take her and sing to her.

Xander wakes up to Sarah having cooked breakfast. They say good morning and kiss as Xander talks about how last night was perfect compared to being in jail. Xander suggests they go back to bed which Sarah agrees to.

Johnny and Chanel wake up in bed together and kiss.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ calls Stefan and leaves a message, questioning where the hell he is as the car is leaving in an hour. EJ warns him about screwing this up and demands that Stefan get there now as Nicole walks in and questions what is going on with his brother now. EJ responds that Stefan is being infuriatingly elusive and not responding to his calls or texts. Nicole suggests it’s early so maybe he’s asleep. EJ argues that Stefan knows it’s urgent family business overseas so he should’ve set his damn alarm. Nicole asks if there’s anything she can do. EJ tells her that her just being there is all he ever needs. They kiss until Holly walks in and tells them to get a room. Nicole feels it’s kind of early for her to be up. Holly blames EJ for her being unable to sleep and asks why EJ had to be so cruel and have Tate arrested.

Eric and Theresa sit together in the town square. Theresa tells him about Tate being back at the halfway house with a restraining order against him so he can’t go anywhere near Holly. Theresa thinks it’s for the best since maybe Holly and Tate aren’t good for each other like how she and Brady were back in the day. Eric points out that they had a lot of love in the beginning. Theresa admits they did make a really good kid together even if he does make poor choices. Jude wakes up crying so Eric says he has to go. Eric tells Theresa that he knows things are stressful now but he thinks Tate will come out of this stronger and wiser. Theresa says she hopes so. Eric says they will talk soon as he walks off with Jude. Theresa thinks back to visiting Tate at the halfway house.

Konstantin sings to Victoria to get her to sleep. Maggie comments that he must have the magic touch. Maggie is impressed by how he is with Victoria, noting he is kind and gentle. Konstantin responds that he adores Victoria and Maggie.

Xander and Sarah finish their breakfast and clean up. Sarah says it feels really nice for them to be doing simple things together. Xander says the only thing that will make it better is having their daughter home. Sarah admits she misses her too and decides they will go get her from Maggie.

Johnny and Chanel have room service for breakfast. They talk about this being their first breakfast as husband and wife this time around and this time is forever. Johnny decides he’s not really hungry for breakfast as they start kissing. Afterwards, they go back to their breakfast. Chanel talks about how lucky she is to have him as her husband and how he was always there for her and Paulina at the hospital. They talk about Paulina and Abe’s miracles. Chanel guesses it was the power of love. Johnny points out that Paulina never gave up on Abe. Chanel says that’s just like them despite their very dramatic breakup and seeing other people. Chanel declares that Johnny was always in her heart and dreams. Johnny recalls dreaming of her. Chanel assures him that it’s so very real now as they hold hands.

Maggie talks to Konstantin about how fast a child can grow and change. Konstantin relates to his daughter Catharina. Sarah walks in and greets them. Maggie tells her that they just got Victoria to sleep. Xander then arrives, exciting Maggie who runs up to hug him and asks when he got released. Xander says it was just last night and he then takes Victoria from Konstantin. Xander tells Victoria how he’s missed her. Konstantin decides he has some errands to run so he will get on with his day and tells them to enjoy their family time. Maggie thanks Konstantin for helping with Victoria as he exits. Maggie calls this a surprise which Xander agrees with.

EJ tells Holly they can talk. Holly says she already knows what he’s going to say. EJ admits he had Tate arrested but reveals that he decided not to press charges which shocks Holly. EJ informs her that he’s back at the halfway house. Holly is relieved as she was thinking about Tate being alone in a jail cell. EJ assures that he’s in a protective environment but then reveals that part of the conditions were that Tate must wear an ankle monitor and has a restraining order against him so he can’t come within 100 feet of the DiMera Mansion or Holly. Holly gets upset and says she can’t believe this, arguing that Tate didn’t do anything wrong. Nicole says it’s for the best. Holly questions how and asks why things can’t just go back to normal as she just wants to see her friend. Holly says if they only knew how sad this makes her for Tate because he doesn’t deserve this.

Maggie tells Xander that Victoria missed her so much. Sarah thanks Maggie for watching her. Maggie says this morning, she couldn’t get Victoria calmed down until Konstantin sang her a Greek lullaby. Xander informs Maggie that he and Sarah would be more comfortable if Victoria was just with her when she babysits. Maggie calls that unfair because Konstantin has been very sweet, kind, and gentle with her. Maggie informs Xander that Konstantin raised a child himself, who died tragically when she was young. Sarah is surprised, admitting they didn’t know that. Maggie says Konstantin opened up to her about that loss and his tenderness with Victoria is touching because of that, insisting that he has a wonderful way with her.

Chanel texts Lani to let her know that Paulina is getting released from the hospital today. Johnny calls it still so hard to believe. Chanel suggests they throw Paulina a welcome home bash. Johnny questions if they have enough time to pull it off. Chanel tells him of everything they can do, so Johnny tells her to just give him a list and it’s done. Johnny says he’ll call Abe to find out when they are going to release her. Chanel says it should be soon. Chanel declares that all is well in the world.

Nicole tells Holly that they know Tate is her friend but he broke in to their home. Holly complains that they think Tate is a delinquent just because he came to see if she was okay. Holly decides she’s going for a walk. Nicole reminds her that they still have a lot to do for Jude’s Christening reception tomorrow. Nicole then offers to go walk with Holly but she says she needs to go by herself and she’s just going to the park. Nicole asks Holly to text her when she gets there which she agrees to. EJ stops Holly and says he knows she resents the restraining order, but warns that there will be consequences if it’s violated. EJ asks Holly not to contact Tate as it will just make things worse for everyone. Holly says she’s got it and exits the mansion.

Theresa remains in the town square as she finishes a work call about an upcoming meeting. Theresa hangs up and declares that today is going to be a good day. Konstantin then shows up and sits at her table. Theresa says she’s in no mood for this and has a meeting to get to. Konstantin informs her that they have to have a meeting too since it’s been a while since they discussed their venture. Konstantin asks Theresa how things are going with their plan to acquire Alex’s fortune. Theresa tells him this is not the time or place and she has to get to work. Konstantin comments on Theresa trying to screw the owner of Titan out of his family’s fortune and asks how it’s going. Theresa says if he really must know, she was this close to having it all and he even bought her an engagement ring but he chickened out of proposing so she pushed back and moved out of his apartment. Konstantin asks if he’s seen the error of his ways. Theresa says she’s focused on her son, so she doesn’t see much of Alex. Konstantin calls that unacceptable and says they must do something about it.

Maggie tells Xander how wonderful it is to have him home and credits Justin working so hard on his case. Xander points out that he hasn’t been exonerated yet but bail has been posted, so he’s here with his three favorite girls. Maggie asks what changed and how he finally made bail. Xander says that Harris couldn’t identify him as his shooter. Sarah has faith that the real shooter will be revealed eventually. Maggie says once that chapter is closed, Xander can move on with his life which Sarah says is the plan.

Johnny finishes a call with Steve, inviting him to Paulina’s homecoming party. Johnny tells Chanel that Steve is in and that Kayla is planning on going home from the hospital with Abe and Paulina. Chanel says that’s perfect and that the flowers and bakery orders are being put together as they speak. Johnny hugs her as she calls it the calm before the storm.

EJ sends a text message to Stefan, demanding he get back to him. Nicole asks if everything is okay. EJ claims he was just seeing if they heard from Holly. Nicole points out that Holly will text her, not him. EJ hopes he’s not alone in worrying about Holly’s friendship with Tate. Nicole says whatever happened between them ended up with Holly in a coma and Tate in a halfway house. EJ calls it tragic and he’s thankful that they have Holly back, but he thinks it’s best if they keep them apart.

Holly runs in to Eric with Jude in the park and greets them. Eric mentions running in to Theresa, who told him what happened with Tate. Holly says it’s really bad and wishes she could take back New Year’s Eve. Eric thinks back to talking to Brady about thinking Holly was hiding something. Eric asks if she means take back being drugged. Holly claims to still not know how that happened but she knows Tate is being blamed for pushing drugs on her and it’s so wrong. Holly adds that now she can’t see or talk to Tate because of the restraining order. Eric knows EJ and Nicole are just trying to keep her safe. Holly argues that she doesn’t need to be kept safe from Tate and promises that he’s a really good guy. Holly adds that everything EJ and Nicole are saying about Tate is not true. Eric asks her what is true then and what she remembers. Holly thinks back to Tate trying to talk her out of the drugs on New Year’s Eve.

EJ tells Nicole that with everything going on, he thought it might be best to postpone the Christening celebration. Nicole disagrees and says with everything going on, they need something positive to celebrate. Nicole adds that the Christening is tomorrow and the invitations already went out, so it would be incredibly rude to cancel now. Nicole also thinks the gesture will show Sloan that she’s trying to get along with her. EJ says only if she’s sure. Nicole believes this will help heal her from the loss of their baby and that having Jude there will be somehow comforting to her. EJ says he understands and hugs her.

Johnny tells Chanel that they are definitely taking Sarah up on her offer of using the Horton Cabin for their private honeymoon. Chanel says later on, they can plan a more exciting and exotic honeymoon after Paulina is done with cancer treatments, but she thinks the Horton Cabin will be good for them for now. They decide they make one hell of a team as they kiss.

Konstantin argues that Theresa conned Alex before, so she can do it again if she wants to be rich. Konstantin tells her to get her head back in the game, asking if she understands the stakes. Theresa understands that she has to marry Alex ASAP while Konstantin snags Maggie’s inheritance. Konstantin says he has made himself indispensable to Maggie. Theresa warns that Maggie is really tough and clever, so when she gets a whiff of the con artist that he is, she will throw him out on his ass. Konstantin disagrees, insisting that Maggie is smitten with him and trusts him. Konstantin tells Theresa that if she fulfills her end of the bargain, they will be set for life.

Maggie tells Xander that they don’t agree about Konstantin but she urges him to understand that he has been very kind and supportive. Maggie decides she will go get dressed and start her day. Sarah thanks her again for watching Victoria. Maggie tells Xander that she knows he’ll be exonerated and she prays it’s very soon. Xander thanks her as she exits. Sarah brings up Maggie going on about how great Konstantin is and asks if that didn’t change Xander’s mind about him. Xander says it only reinforces his conviction that Konstantin has Maggie completely conned. Xander insists that he doesn’t have him conned and that he despises Konstantin.

Holly tells Eric that all she knows is that Tate’s a good guy and she’s just worried about him. Eric says if she ever wants to talk about anything, he’s always there for her with no judgment. Holly thanks him and says she has to go help Nicole with Jude’s Christening party so she leaves the park.

EJ tells Nicole that he understands the Christening party is something she has to do, so he’s behind her 100%. Nicole says she has to get going because there is still so much to do, so she exits. EJ then pulls his phone back out and calls Gregory, who informs him that Stefan has not shown up to the airfield. EJ tells him to stay put until he contacts him. EJ hangs up and calls Stefan again, leaving another message asking where the hell he is and what kind of game he is playing.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

cody: And that’s how you make a lasso. James: That’s so cool. Do you want to see something else cool? Here. Go stand over there. Alright. Ha! See?

[ Laughs ] If you’re not too busy… hi! Cody lassoed me. Yeah. What a useful skill.

[ Chuckles ] Uh, something I can help you with, mrs. Quartermaine? Uh, maybe your job. My thoroughbred is recovering from laminitis. How’s he doing? Uh, let’s go check and see. No, no, no. I want you to tell me. You’re the groom. The condition of all the horses in your care should be in your knowledge. Hey, you’re being mean. Excuse me? Cody’s friend is in the hospital. You should be nice to him. Let me tell you, the nerve of some people. Not even people — cops. I mean, not all cops, but… chase? What’s wrong? I’m sorry, what? Wow, I just barged in here like a tsunami. You didn’t even notice. What’s going on? How bad is it? I saw dante today. A few times, actually. How’s he doing? No change. Hi. I’m sorry, I’m sorry. No, cookie, no worries. I had my phone. Time means nothing. Oh, how understanding are you? I am drowning in cases. I know the feeling. I’m sure it’s the one thing about the law you don’t miss. I miss a lot of it. But maybe not for much longer. I’m — I’m really sorry about before. Just oversharing. That’s no problem. Well, that’s kind of you. I think I was just so nervous coming in here and everything that I wanted to say to kristina, and of course it didn’t — didn’t even occur to me that her father might be witness to it. I think you’re brave to even show up and, you know, be here just to say that to her. Well, I love my daughter, and I want to support her, and it’s just complicated, you know? Parenting is so complicated.

[ Laughs ] I can relate. By all means. I’ll bite. Why do you owe me a drink? You were right. I’ve been wrong so much lately, I’d be glad to know when I wasn’T. About sonny. That I was taking it easy on him, not seeing him clearly. And now? Now I do.

I should have gone with him. I mean, there were two suspects, and dante went after both of them. I-I never should have let him go. But you followed procedure on dante’s orders. It was all by the book, right? Yes, it was by the book, but that doesn’t change that dante could die or be in a permanent coma. You don’t know what could have happened if you went after him. You could be in that hospital instead, or with him, or you might both be in the ground. Yo u’re right, you’re right, but I — no more buts, okay? You are here with me right now, and dante is in the hospital but he is still breathing. His heart is still beating. And I — did your duty. You followed orders and — and procedures. You did your job. A job that we both fought for you to get back. I don’t know. Maybe… maybe I shouldn’T. Shouldn’t what? Be a cop anymore. Dante is awesome. He used to live in the house where I live now, and he’s cody’s best friend, and now he’s in the hospital. And that’s why cody’s so sad. And that’s why I’m here — to cheer him up. Wow. I have two things to say to that. One is, I think it’s admirable that you’re showing up for cody like that. And it means you’re a really good friend. Thank you. As for your… friend dante, I actually went to see him in the hospital today. Really? I guess I didn’t realize you two were that close. That’s — that’s mighty generous of you. Is dante better?

[ Knocks ] You rang? Valentin. Thank you for coming. Where’s alexis? I assumed she’d be here. Oh, why would alexis be here, in her office, at her job? Oh. Well, it is kind of late. Well, the news doesn’t stop, valentin. I asked her to meet us here, and she blew me off. Said she was “otherwise engaged.” Well, if you need a cassadine so badly, I’m here. What’s the problem? Alexis is trying to force my gossip columnist to quit. Diane is setting things in motion for me to petition to get my law license back. Is she? How? Well, she’s a legal bloodhound, and she found a loophole. One that you hadn’t noticed before. Actually, I don’t think I was really looking before. Um, I lied, and I got caught, and I took my lumps and… well, honestly, I wasn’t in a very good emotional place. On a number of counts, as I recall. Isn’ t it nice that we can beso accurate with each other? So diane found a number of factors that she thinks will play out in my favor. Such as? One, I never filed an appeal. Okay, but don’t you only have 90 days to do that? I never had a hearing, which means that I never had the opportunity to defend myself. What would your defense have been? Well, britt westbourne and julian were my accusers. So, what defense would you recommend? Given their collective criminal records and personal integrity issues… diane thinks that those factors, along with the fact that my alleged perjury happenedt a proceeding before the medical board… that’s enough to get you an appeal? It’s a hail mary at best. Yeah, a bit. Diane filed a petition with the court of appeals that hopefully will allow her to file another petition with the court of appeals which will lead to an appeal. Wow.

[ Chuckles ] Mm… wow. Um, do you have anything else to say besides, “wow”? Don’t do it. To clear heads and open eyes. I’m going to go with the second thing. Fair enough.

[ Inhales sharply, exhales ] So now that we’ve belted one back, care to share? I owe you an apology. An apology and a drink. This is a banner day. I called you out on your attitude towards sonny, implying that you were being unprofessional and making everything personal. Well, to be fair enough, the guy does really get under my skin. When it comes to sonny, I haven’t always stayed professional. I’m not exactly a model of that myself. How so? Oh, “how so?” Really? I’ve only seen sonny the way I wanted to see him. You know, I’ve made excuses for him, rationalized his unacceptable behavior. You mean the crimes. Besides murder, racketeering, and lifetime of felonies, he’s kind of a model citizen. Hmm. And such a good father. Yeah. Anyway, I’m done convincing myself that he is greater than the sum of his parts. I see sonny very clearly now. I know exactly who he is. Your daughter is very talented. I know. Thank you. I’ve seen her perform a few times. It’s not my kind of music, but I-I can see she connects with the audience. She’s — she’s always been like that. The kid is just fearless, like, onstage and off. Um, you know, I think — I think our girls have that in common. Fearlessness. Well, kristina can be a steamroller when she wants to be.

[ Laughs ] And they’re both — they’re both dreamers. Absolutely true. Dangerous combination. Yes, yes. Being a dreamer and being fearless. In the best possible way. I know what you mean. Alison was like a little star in the making from the minute she stepped onstage. But she didn’t have a head for business, so, um, I decided to jump in and be her business manager. And that way I could watch after her accounts and I could watch after her. Smart move. Um, I didn’t do a very — a very good job, though. Um, I had my nose so deep in her books and her accounts that I-I did not see that that monster linc brown was doing to my baby girl. Thanks to brook lynn, we don’t have to worry about him. Do you know brook lynn quartermaine? Yeah. Her mother is my best friend. Again, she shouldn’t have been the one to protect my daughter. I should have been paying closer attention. And then I would have known something was going on, and I should have been the one to protect her. You can’t act on information you don’t have. Well, I could have sensed it and done something to stop it. Is that why you’re controlling blaze now?

I thought you, of all people, would be leading the charge to support me. Mom, you know that I think you are a brilliant attorney. Well, I know you used to think that. I’m just not sure you think that right now. Look, I grew up wanting to be you. I mean, when I was in law school — even now today, in fact, I still study your briefs. When I don’t know what to do with a case. I look to see how you did it. And then I follow your lead. And if this were just about the law or your career, I would say go for it. I would say there’s nobody more deserving than you. Then why are you opposing my trying? Because I like you better sober than when you’re drinking. I landed adrian dewitt. Do you know what a huge get that is? I can see. But, alexis, she never wanted a gossip column in the first place — too lowbrow, which makes no sense. How can a society page detailing the lies of the city’s economic and cultural elite be lowbrow? That is a paradox. It is a proven fact that gossip columns increase circulation. And in a journal that prioritizes negative things every single day, the average reader finds joy and release knowing the rich and famous are suffering too. Never underestimate the schadenfreude of the american people. Mm-hmm, and that’s precisely what alexis is doing. She sabotaged the column by postponing it until friday. Ah, and after two days, even salacious news is old news. You get it. I do. Oh, and — and this. She published — she published an extremely biased article slamming sonny after the shooting. Were there two articles? No. Just one. Why? Because I’m of the opinion that alexis and the invader went too easy on sonny. Now I see where kristina gets her directness. And you haven’t even met her mother yet.

[ Chuckles ] You know… kristina and I, we get along great now, but it wasn’t always like that. When she was a teenager, she was going through some real heavy stuff that I don’t want to get too specific on, but it was bad. Her mother and I, we were way overprotective. And — oh, I see. So instead of being protective, you ended up trying to control her. You can guess what happened. She rebelled. She lashed out. The more we tried to rein her in, the more she spiraled out of control. That had to have been terrifying. So it was clear to me, I have to stop trying to make the decisions for her and just help her stand up so she can make the decisions for herself. What inspired this change of heart? Yeah, well, it’s nothing I can prove. Of course. So what else is new? Let’s just say my eyes have been forced open about sonny and who he really is. I guess who he’s always been. And the level of violence he’s capable of. Well, that’s great. What took you so long? Seriously, why the blind spot for sonny? You know. You said it the other night. Sonny was there for my daughter when stone was dying. And I was nowhere to be found.

Your mission –sweep up the entire stable.

[ Horse neig hs in distance ] Well, he’s taken a real shine to you. And leo too. Yeah, yeah, well, kids love me.

[ Chuckles ] Why? Do they think of you as a peer? Well, god help them if they think of me as a role model. So how did this happen? Uh, james was here for his riding lessons. You give riding lessons? Yes. On our horses? Um, I cleared it with monica. Monica owns the stable. The horses — don’t worry. N-no one’s riding your thoroughbred. His hoof’s looking better, by the way, right? Yes, much. Thank you. Um, anyways, uh, about james, yeah, so he was here, uh, for his lesson, and I was calling the hospital to check up on dante. He overheard me, and I don’t know, I must have sounded… concerned? Yeah. Anyway, since then he’s been here pretty much every day, you know, helping me out, just talking. And no one told him to do it. He just kind of decided. James: Help! Okay, here’s what we’re gonna do. First, we are going to keep praying for dante. That’s all I’ve been doing. Me too. And we’re gonna keep doing it, okay? As for whether or not you should be a cop again, well, that’s easy. It is? Yeah. You should quit the force and revive your singing career. What? Think about it. Instant love from the stage. Men wishing they were you. Women longing to be with you even though they can’t be. We’ll pick up right where we left off. We will build your triumphant return to the stage. I’ll even let you pick out what you’re going to wear. Pending approval, of course. What do you say? I know what you’re doing. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Yes, you do. Okay, I do. Is it working? I don’t want to be a singer. I want to be what I am, what I’m supposed to be. A cop. And a damn good one. So I’m going to bring up something that might be painful for you. Well, I’m not feeling much pain at the moment. It’s stone. My brother’s always with me. Speak freely. When he was dying and robin had been diagnosed with hiv, I was nowhere to be found. My teenage daughter is losing the first great love of her life and…may be facing a death sentence of her own, which is what it could be back then. And I was out — I was in the wind, you know? But sonny was there. Sonny was there for her every day by her side. And robin loved him for it.She still does. You know, I hate to admit it. And I’ll never understand it, not fully. But in stone’s eyes, sonny was more a brother to him than I was. Which is one of the many reasons why I hate him. Sorry, I’m making this about me. You were saying? It’s okay. No, it’s just that I, um, allowed myself, my own perception of sonny, to be colored by robin’S. And by gratitude and all that guilt. So for years, I-I just — I convinced myself that he was a better man than he really is. I-I never looked the other way, though. I never colluded on any of those crimes. Oh, no, I know that. But I have relied on him. I’ve relied on sonny sometimes. And given him the benefit of the doubt. But no more. No. You keeping track? Oh. Oh, yeah, yeah. We’re — we’re tied. Yeah, well, the difference is, is I’m already home. So am I. I’m just two floors up. Every cell of me wants to guide and protect my daughter from getting hurt, but now she feels like I’m the one who’s hurting her. And she’s not wrong. You know, I think there’s nothing — there’s nothing more important than making sure that our kids know that we love them no matter who they are or what choices they make. And it’s up to us to make that clear. Especially while they can still hear us. Sorry that took so long. No worries. Your dad and I were just getting to know each other. Well, I’m glad you guys could keep each other company. I have a minute now, so, uh, is there anything else you wanted to talk about? The last time you fell off the wagon was when you were disbarred. I wasn’t sure we were gonna get you back. And you think, if this doesn’t work out, then I’m gonna start drinking again. Your chances of getting this disbarment overturned, I mean, it’s the longest of long shots. I know that. Then why put yourself through it?

You know what? I think it’s great. Which bit? All of it. You seeing saint sonny for the slimebag he is. In fact, I hope you nail him. Surely you want that honor for yourself, don’t you? I give you my solemn promise that if I find any evidence on him, I will pass it along to you. Because my job, little as I like it, is to protect the son of a bitch.

[ Laughs ] Well, I think everyone is entitled to be protected under the law. Some people are more worthy than others. But sonny clearly is a target, and for whatever reason, his life seems to be important enough that somebody has tried to end it several times. And I need to find out why. Even if he gets to benefit by breathing a little longer. Well, you’re a better copthan I am, agent cates. Not today, commissioner devane. Not today. Sonny knows that I am publisher of the invader. He might think that I had something to do with this article. Nina, sonny doesn’t blinkat federal indictments. What makes you think he’s gonna care about a bad review? That’s not the point. The point is, he may jump to the conclusion that I’m trying to use the newspaper to lash out at him. You want to reconcile with him, right? And he knows that. Well, yes, but after this article — if this article is what’s gonna keep that from happening, maybe your marriage isn’t worth fighting for in the first place. You’ve nev er beenfond of sonny. If sonny wants you back or not, that article is not gonna make a bit of difference. Oh, it makes all the difference. How? It’s just… I… I can’T…control what’s going on with this divorce. I thought I could at least control the newspaper. It turns out I can’t control either. Here’s what I want to know. You are a magnificent, brilliant, resilient woman. Why on earth do you continue to torture yourself with sonny? You’re right. There is next to no chance that this will come to anything other than a bitter, bitter disappointment. And I need to prepare for that. Why? Why brace for impact from an oncoming train when you can just step off the tracks? Because when diane came to me with this strategy, I felt a rush. Um, like I had been zapped with a defibrillator and my heart was beating again after it had flatlined for a really long time. And I realized that this part of me, this huge part — the core part of me — I left for dead. Mom… and now I had hope that maybe I could get this essential part of me back. Okay, what if that hope flatlines again? Then I let it go. Oh. That easy? Probably not. But, moll, if there’s a chance that I could go back and do what I love to do the most, the thing that makes me me and that gives me the challenges that I need, and… I could be a role model again? You’re a great role model, mom. I was. And maybe I could be that again. I mean, if — if there is just the smallest, tiniest, most infinitesimal chance that I could be that again, I have to try. You are the best kind of cop, one who actually tries to find the truth instead of just pinning whatever on whoever. You actually try to see justice done. Thank you. In fact, you know, I was thinking about following rules and procedures, and — and I know you felt bad about that. Yeah, I still do. Well, you shouldn’T. You are an officer of the law. And there’s a reason why procedures exist. It’s to protect us, to protect people. Well, that’s the idea, yeah. When some people who are meant to uphold the law fly in the face of procedure to mess with and manipulate people to try to squeeze them for information… are you talking about anyone specific? Special agent cates. He barged past yuri to interrogate danny, who was by himself, no adult present. That is not okay. Damn right it’s not. That just doesn’t seem like agent cates.

It was heavier than I thought, and now I wrecked the horse’s dinner. Hey, hey, bud. No, you didn’T. Horses don’t mind eating oats that have spilled on the floor. They eat dirt and grass. Get it back in the bucket, okay? So why were you trying to carry a heavy bucket by yourself? I was trying to help. Alright, here. You hold the dustpan. I’ll sweep it in, okay? Okay. I’ll leave you boys to it. Hey, why aren’t you helping? Oh, I’m the boss. It’s my job to get other people to clean up. Well, a good boss should be prepared to do everything their employees do. Did your friend cody teach you that? No, my grandpa mac did. Oh, well, we can’t disagree with man-of-the-people mac scorpio. So are you going to help, or are you a bad boss? Since when are you so buddy-buddy with agent cates? I’m not. It’s just cates is — or he seems very by the book. And what book might that be? “Interrogation for dummies”? Okay, clearly I was wrong about the guy. He’s the devil incarnate and just generally a bad dude. Don’t patronize me. I would never, ma’am. Cates is a snake and a jerk, and I should make good on every one of my threats. Wait. You threatened an fbi agent? Damn right I did. Like, with bodily harm? No! I-I just told him he should be ashamed of interrogating a child without a parent present. Okay. And that I would sue him into oblivion. And take his badge. Oh. Because threatening a federal agent is kind of a federal crime. I came here to mend fences with you, kristina, and — and to enlist your help with alison. But I realize now that that’s — that’s not something I can ask of you. That’s something that we have to work out on our own. But, um, I’m just — I’m really appreciative that you would even take the time to talk with me. Yeah. Mr. Corinthos. Such a pleasure. So that just happened. How you doing? I don’t know. I’m not really sure. I mean, my first impulse is to text allie, obviously, and tell her what just happened. But then, is that really fair to them? I don’t know, I mean, shouldn’t it be between them whether or not they work things out? But then how could I pretend that it’s not about me and that I’m not involved, right? You can’T.

Alright. Do we get all of it? Let me check. Mission accomplished. Nice. May I? It’s called a high five. Do you want me to show you how to do it?

[ Laughs ] No, I know how to do a high five. I just haven’t done one in a while. Well, turns out you are a good boss. Thank you. Does your grandpa mac have any other pearls of wisdom? “To have a friend, you’ve got to be a friend.” That’s a good one. So I am the boss and you are the guest. How about I invite you up to the house for some hot chocolate? Cody too? Yes, of course. Come on. Give me the brush. Is threatening a federal agent a federal crime? Well… so what? Okay? There was no way I was gonna let that jerk intimidate danny. Nor should you. I am 100% on your side. You sure about that? I am. But in the future, instead of threatening to sue or take his badge or anything else you may have said… there were no witnesses. …Perhaps you kindly remind the overeager law enforcement officer that he can’t question a minor without a parent present. And an attorney. If that’s necessary. An army of attorneys. Would protect the rights of the minor without ganging up on a federal agent, right? Fine. I’ll show mercy. That is all I ask. Kind of wish I saw you lay into him a little bit. Me too. Could have been my witness. I love it when you’re all hot and fired up. If that is how you feel about it, then…okay. Okay as in “I’ve said everything I can possibly say and now I’m washing my hands of it” okay? I will fully support you. I’ll have your back every step of the way. I’ll be there for you. And what if it goes belly-up? Well, what if, against all odds, it actually happens? Stranger things have. No. No, they have. But please, please monitor yourself. Okay? Take inventory. Go to meetings. I’ve been doing that all along, and I have no intention of stopping. That’s now. But I’m talking about during the waiting and the decision, okay? You’re going to get frustrated. You’re going to want to skip a meeting every now and again. You might even want to say screw this altogether. But please, please, promise me that you will not, okay, that you’ll stay the course. I promise. And one more thing. If this doesn’t go your way, if the worst thing happens and you don’t get your license back, just please promise me you won’t drink. That’s a promise I can’t make.

[ Exhales sharply ] But I promise to do everything in my power, including calling upon a higher power if I need to, to prevent that from happening, alright? I know. I understand that no recovery is guaranteed. I know that — that there are backslides, and that no promise I ask you to make is gonna keep you from drinking, but… it’s got to be your choice, yeah. Yeah. It’s so selfish. You are not selfish. In fact, be selfish because we’re all really sick and tired of your altruism. With kristina pregnant with our baby, I just — I just really need my mom right now. Never mind the fact that in order for you to fall in love with sonny, he had to literally forget who he was. But he makes you bend over backwards to prove your worth to him. And you bend, nina, and I hate it. It breaks my heart to see you do that. Especially when he’s such a hypocrite. Anyone wrongs him, he just writes them off. He’s not complicated. He’s just erratic. Sonny is not worthy of you. Are you finished? I wish. Okay, okay. When I heard that you and sonny had broken up, that he was looking for a divorce, I could finally breathe. I was that relieved. Why? So I could go back to you? That is lovely. But no. Because I’m not worthy of you either. I was relieved because you could finally forget having to be sonny’s wife, and maybe you could remember who you really are. And who do you think that is? Well, you’re nina reeves. And nina reeves is a marvel, a survivor, a rule breaker. Crimson, your life, everything that you are, you have spun into gold. And it is my greatest hope for you that you remember that. If I text allie and tell her that her mom was here, then I feel like that automatically implies that it’s me and allie against her mom, and I don’t necessarily want that. I think that’s wise. Right? Then if I don’t tell her, I don’t really want to be keeping a secret from her. Also wise. I think what I should do is wait until I see her. And if allie brings it up, then great. And if she doesn’t, then I’ll tell her what happened tonight. I’m curious. What’s your take on natalia? I mean, I definitely did not win her over initially, but I give her credit for reaching out. So do I. I give you a lot more credit. Me? What do you mean, me? Because I told allie how afraid I was to come out to you and how when I did you were like, “what? You think I don’t know gay people? I know gay people.” I would have given anything to see the expression on my own face when you did that, it was like it was no big deal. You know, even looking back, the fact that you didn’t know that I would accept that… it kind of hurts a little bit, even now. Why? Dad, you have always been the only one that I could really turn to. And I will always be. I know. The day I questioned daniel morgan without a parent or guardian present. Oh. That’s not good. Yeah. Luckily, somebody stopped me. This woman just swooped in like she was on fire and lit into me, telling me how ashamed I should be, and all of a sudden I was. Oh, my god. You met tracy quartermaine. Does tracy quartermaine have a brooklyn accent? Oh, no, you met brook lynn.

[ Laughs ] “Brooklyn”? Yes.

[ Laughs ] Her name is — is actually “brooklyn”? Well, anyway, I got to thank her because she forced me to realize I’d crossed the line. Well, at least you realized your mistake. You know, some people cross the line, and they just double down and floor it. Yeah, even so. I was disappointed I went there in the first place. Today was not my finest day as a cop. Yeah. Wasn’t mine either. Here’s to being better tomorrow.

Nikki: Should I make some tea? It might help all of us sleep.

Claire: It’s that even possible? That something could help after we just…

Victoria: Can we please not talk about it? Just, at least not now.

Claire: Yeah, no, we don’t– we don’t need to talk about it.

Victoria: I didn’t mean to shut you down. If you needed to get it out–

Claire: I really don’T. It’s fine, honestly. I don’t even… I don’t ever want to think about what happened in that basement today.

Nikki: None of us do.

Claire: Could you… could you stay? I want to be together right now. Just the three of us here.

Nikki: I couldn’t agree more. Let’s just all be together. As a family.

Victoria: Mom?

Nikki: Yes, darling?

Victoria: I don’t know if I mentioned, but claire and i went for coffee this morning at crimson lights. And we ran into summer and kyle and harrison.

Nikki: Well, wasn’t that lucky?

Victoria: Wasn’t it? She finally got to meet one of her cousins.

Nikki: That’s wonderful. How did it go?

Claire: Fine.

Victoria: Harrison adored her instantly. There’s no surprise there. She’s wonderful with children. She’s funny and silly, never talking down to them at all.

Nikki: That is quite a gift. Not a lot of people have it.

Claire: Yeah, it’s, um, still strange to me. Meeting all these relatives who I’ve read so much about all these years, but getting to know them as people, not just news stories. I grew up hating the newmans for what they had, but at the same time, I wanted it all. Not just the money or the things, but I like to imagine the family and the love. She only wanted me to see the ugly stuff. The fights and the crimes, the divorces. Anything messy or sordid. That’s what I was supposed to pay attention to, but… there’s so much more to you. To all of you.

Nikki: No one on the outside can ever know what goes on inside a family. Much less a complicated one like ours.

Victoria: And now, you know. Because you are a newman.

Nikki: And you’ve seen how loyal and loving we are. And always protect our own.

Claire: I admire you both so much.

Victoria: That’s such a lovely thing to say.

Nikki: You have seen how we are as a family and I don’t want you to be anyone other than who you are.

Claire: I grew up knowing I was related to the newmans, but definitely not one of them. Awake or asleep, I dreamed of being included. I guess I’ll always wonder what my life would have been like if I had been in the pictures. Who I could have been.

Nikki: But you’re a part of us now. And jordan can never take that away.

[Stomach growling]

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by… -you got this buddy.

-During an asthma attack,

[ Claire yawning ]

Victoria: It’s been a day. You wanna go and try to get some rest?

Claire: Goodnight.

Victoria: Goodnight. Sorry.

Nikki: I’m right behind you.

Victoria: All right.

Nikki: Try to get some good sleep, okay?

Claire: I will.

Victor: Hello, sweetheart. What are you doing down here? It’s time for breakfast at the club.

Claire: How long was I asleep for?

Victor: Too long. So, why don’t you get up? I guess the whole family is waiting for you.

Claire: The whole family?

Victor: Yeah.

Claire: Why? Why would they be waiting for me?

Victor: Well, do you even have to ask? I mean, you’ve done this hundreds of times, sweetheart.

Claire: Hundreds?

Victor: Yeah. Remember? We used to all have breakfast together and we put you in a little baby seat. There was a pancake on your plate. One little pancake.

Claire: Baby seat?

Victor: I have to go to the office. Stop by before I join you at breakfast, so I’ll see you later. All right, eve?

Claire: Eve?

Victor: See you soon.

[ Distant laughing ]

Summer: Oh, look, there she is. Eve, over here!

Claire: Hi.

[ Abby and summer squealing ]

Abby: Come here.

Summer: Sit. Sit, sit, sit, sit. I’m so glad that you’re here early. Now, we can have a little bit of girl talk before everybody gets here.

Abby: Coffee?

Claire: Please, I need something to clear my head.

Abby: Summer and I were just talking about cabo and what an amazing time we had.

Summer: I am so ready to go back where it’s warm.

Abby: And how about that resort? We should go there every year.

Summer: Yes.

Claire: What was your favorite part?

Summer: Uh, definitely the spa. Or wait, no. Maybe it was the pool.

Abby: Or the food. That restaurant? I wanted to go to the kitchen and steal their mole recipe.

Summer: Oh, my god, wait, did you show her that picture?

Abby: Not yet.

Summer: It is so good.

Abby: You know what, eve? I’ll just text it to you. It’s you and the band. It’s a little blurry, but I think you are too.

Summer: But she didn’t even need all that tequila to get up and dance.

Abby: Oh, no. I could hear her laugh from the dance floor. Always the happiest person in the room.

Claire: You like me? I’m fun?

Abby: Oh, stop! You get enough compliments. Stop fishing.

Summer: Everybody knows that you’re the most fun newman that there is.

Abby: And the most charming.

Summer: And the most fashionable.

Abby: Thanks to you and marchetti.

Summer: Well, who looks more gorgeous in our clothes than eve?

Abby: Not even me. Darn it.

Summer: And still, on top of it all, she manages to be the most level-headed out of all of us.

Claire: Um, thank you.

Summer: You are the best cousin ever.

Abby: I mean, it is so unfair for someone to be so perfect, but we forgive you. Even in boarding school, she would get straight a’s without even trying. It’s like she would look at the text and the knowledge would just go into her brain through osmosis.

Claire: Hardly.

Abby: Come on, how do you explain those stellar grades without even trying? You were too busy enjoying life.

Summer: Well, that’s our eve.

Cole: Hello, ladies.

Nick: Hey.

Claire: Dad, hi.

Cole: Hello, beautiful.

Abby: Hey, big brother. So, how was today’s epic battle? Who won?

Nick: He did, but it’s only because racquetball’s not a real sport. If it was basketball or anything else, I would have won.

Cole: Yeah, yeah, your godfather here is dreamy.

Summer: Okay, okay, enough with the trash talk.

Nick: Three amigas, how was mexico?

Abby: We had a blast.

Summer: Pictures available upon request.

Abby: Some of them, anyways.

Cole: Is there any that can make a dad worry?

Summer: Uh, all of them.

Cole: Super. I won’t tell your mom.

Nick: You know, I’m just trying to remember a time where I didn’t see one of you without the other two.

Cole: Just absolutely inseparable.

Abby: Well, there was a time, you know, summer and I had our differences.

Summer: Differences? I mean, you slept with my husband.

Abby: Well, at least that was the only drama that year.

Summer: But then eve played peacemaker and brought us back together.

Abby: And we will forever be grateful.

Claire: Glad I could help.

Nick: It was like that with your sports teams, too. You know, whether it was soccer or softball or volleyball, if things were going badly, you would find a way to rally the troops and just snatch victory from defeat.

Cole: Yeah, that’s one of eve’s many talents. She shows natural leadership.

Nick: I really enjoyed it when you went out of town on your book tours because then I got to step in and coach, which I absolutely loved, eve. I don’t play favorites with my nieces and nephews, but if I did…

Claire: Oh.

Abby: Okay, let’s ditch the coffee and get some drinks.

Summer: We should have champagne.

Abby: Yes.

Summer: Mimosas.

Abby: This is a celebration, isn’t it?

Cole: Let’s do it.

Summer: Oh, excuse me. Can we order some drinks?

When you smell the amazing

scent of gain flings…

Cole: I still remember the first time that you, your mother and i went camping up at laura lake. You were like four, five at the very most. And we were cooking s’mores by the fire after the sun went down. But you, on the other hand, you were so interested in chasing lightning bugs.

Claire: Really?

Cole: Yes, you were completely fascinated. You would grab one and you would race back over to your mom and go, “hey, look, mom.” And you would open up your hand, and poof, it would fly out.

[ All laughing ] I mean, the look on your face every single time was like, “oh, no.” Anyway, and off she would run again.

Nick: Had to be priceless.

Cole: Was.

Abby: And then, when she was eight, it was at one of dad and nikki’s weddings, it was time to throw the bouquet, and you ran out in front of all the single women, and you caught the bouquet yourself.

Nick: I remember that day. It was hilarious. Your mother explained that you were going to be the next one to get married.

Abby: Oh, and then you were horrified. You could not get rid of those flowers fast enough.

Nick: I think she was still in the boys are icky phase.

Abby: Yeah.

Summer: Well, she learned her lesson though because when you were the maid of honor at my wedding in milan, I threw the bouquet right at you and you crossed your arms. I was literally aiming for you, and somehow you still fumbled it into faith’s hands. It’s amazing to me, um, how much of my life you remember. So many happy times.

Summer: Do not tell me that you’re going to cry.

Nick: It looks that way to me.

Cole: My sweet girl is always a softy.

Abby: Hey, don’t let her fool you because the naked heiress thing, I mean, that would not have happened the same way without eve. I mean, come on. That’s after she tried to talk me out of it, of course.

Claire: I read about that. The horse?

Summer: No, you didn’t need to read about it. You were the one that brought the horse there.

Claire: Yes, that’s right. I did.

Nick: There was that time–

Devon: Morning, guys.

[ Overlapping greetings ]

Cole: Good to see you, devon.

Devon: Good to see you, too.

Abby: It’s perfect.

Summer: Sit here, sit here.

Abby: Your timing.

Devon: Hey.

Nick: How you doing, man?

Devon: How you doing?

Summer: We were just telling our favorite eve story.

Cole: And we haven’t run out yet.

Devon: Well, let me add how I will always love the way you showed up to dominic’s birthday at the park in a full head-to-toe dinosaur outfit. It made his big day even more special.

Cole: Well, you know what? I promise that today is going to be just as special, if not more so.

Claire: What does that mean?

Nick: Oh, don’t you worry about that.

Summer: Why haven’t we gotten our champagne yet?

Nick: Yeah, we ordered it a while ago.

Abby: Oh, maybe they had to go to the wine cellar to get the right vintage?

Adam: Is there a problem?

Claire: You work here?

Nick: That’s the problem right there.

Adam: Well, I couldn’t exactly get a better job after you turned me into police.

Abby: Not once, but twice.

Adam: Yeah, I was cleared on all charges both times. But it did tank my business career, so thank you for that. I know you earned extra brownie points with victor for, “protecting the family.”

Nick: And she did it, thankfully.

Adam: Well, I guess you don’t realize the effect you’ve had on a lot of people’s lives.

Abby: It’s been good for most of us.

[ Summer clearing her throat ]

Summer: About that champagne?

Adam: I’m on it.

Nick: Thank you, adam.

Mariah: Hi, guys. Sorry if I’m late.

[ Overlapping greetings ]

Cassie: If you’re late, I’m even later.

All: Cassie!

Mariah: Cassie, you made it. I would’ve called yesterday.

Cassie: I wouldn’t have missed this celebration for the world.

Nick: Sit down. We have champagne coming, or at least we’ve been told that.

Abby: Adam is taking his sweet time.

Cassie: Good to see you.

Mariah: That’s okay. Coffee will do.

Cole: Oh.

Devon: It’s been a while since we’ve seen you both. How are you doing?

Cassie: Great.

Mariah: Fantastic.

Claire: Cassie, you’re…

Cassie: I’m what?

Mariah: Spit it out, cuz.

Claire: Never mind. I’m really glad you’re here.

Summer: Don’t mind eve. Her head is in the clouds today.

Cassie: Today and every other day. See, I used to babysit this one a lot, especially when cole and victoria went out on date night.

Mariah: Well, that must have been before I came to town again and found you.

Cassie: Years before. I was still in high school.

Mariah: And I was in a cult.

[ All laughing ] But I’m where I belong now. And I wouldn’t trade this for anything.

Sharon: Hey.

Nick: Hey.

Cassie: Hey, mom.

Sharon: Hi, cassie. You were able to join us after all.

Cassie: Yep. I was able to move a few things around at work.

Sharon: Did I miss anything?

Abby: Not really.

Claire: What would there be to miss?

Devon: Is tessa home with aria?

Mariah: Yes. She still has the sniffles, so I’m actually gonna check in with tessa and make sure I don’t need to bring anything home for her.

Nick: You look beautiful.

Sharon: Thank you. So do you. Faith and noah send their best to you.

Claire: Just remind me, how long have you guys been back together?

[ Both chuckling ]

Nick: Since before you were born.

Sharon: Eve, how are your classes going?

Claire: Classes, um… for the… degree that I’m working on?

Sharon: No, no. Your kindergarten classes. Everyone raves about how good you are with the kids.

Summer: Oh, she’s amazing with them.

Abby: Dominic agrees in his own toddler way.

Sharon: Well, I hope that you will be aria’s teacher when she’s old enough to go to school. Oh, here comes one of your students now.

Harrison: Hey!

Claire: Hey, harrison.

Kyle: He is very excited to see you. You’re still his his favorite teacher.

Summer: Hey, hubs.

Kyle: Hey, wife.

Summer: I’m glad that you and harrison could finally join the party.

Claire: Party? Celebration, champagne. Victor said this was a family breakfast, but are they always like this?

[ All laughing ]

Summer: Oh, harrison, I see your friend, bobby. Let’s go say hi to him.

Kyle: Oh, excuse us.

Nikki: Hi, everyone.

[ Overlapping greetings ] Victoria’s on her way. She stopped to pick up something special for you.

Claire: Why? What’s the occasion? Why am i the center of attention?

Nikki: Oh, you’re awfully inquisitive this morning.

Victor: And has been her entire life.

Nikki: Reminds me of when I was teaching you how to ride. You had so many questions.

Victor: Well, but very interesting questions, you know.

Nikki: But even then, we knew that you were special. And that was before you became a championship rider.

Victor: Which shows you that a little ambition and a little faith can make you achieve a lot of things.

Claire: And you were supportive every step of the way, weren’t you?

Victor: You bet we were.

Nikki: Of course.

Victor: Of course we were. Now, I intend to finish the chess game that you and I started. But this time, I’m asking you not to take it easy on me.

Nikki: Oh!

Claire: I won’T.

Nick: I don’t know, dad.

Victoria: Ta-da! The decorations have arrived.

Claire: What is going on?

Cole: Eve, you don’t think that we forgot about your birthday, do you?

All: Happy birthday!

[ Cheering ]

Nick: Toast! Imagine if you could get ahead of your ibs-C…

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Claire: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get so emotional.

All: Aw!

Nikki: Darling, never apologize for shedding a tear or two when your heart is full.

Victor: That’s right.

Nikki: It means you’re truly alive.

Abby: What nikki said.

Cassie: Amen.

Cole: The day you were born was one of the most special of our lives.

Victoria: Yeah, but it was also one of the scariest.

Claire: Because I was premature?

Victoria: Well, as fragile as you were, you were all warmth and light and love for us. I think maybe that’s one of the things that helped you survive all of those first few days that you were alive.

Sharon: Plus, a whole lot of prayers.

Nick: Nonstop, we talked to god on your behalf, like, 24/7.

Nikki: Never underestimate the power of love.

Cole: And it all paid off. Because we get to take you home. Healthy and strong. And from that moment forward, you were nothing but pure love.

Claire: This is so much more than I ever could have asked for. If it is a dream, I don’t want to wake up.

Cole: Eve, I actually have something for you. It’s in honor of your birthday and every day. My latest book. It’s an advanced copy.

Sharon: Wow.

Nick: Oh, that’s nice.

Cole: Don’t get too excited. I left a dedication in there for you.

Claire: Oh, my gosh, dad.

Victoria: Read it. Read it, sweetheart.

[ Claire sighs ]

Claire: “To my beloved daughter, eve newman howard. My pride. My joy. My truest inspiration.” Aww. Thank you.

[ All applauding ]

Victor: Well, now champagne is on the way and so is sparkling cider.

Nikki: We’re going to have a toast and then we can order breakfast.

Victor: Yes.

Nick: Toast. Breakfast. There is a dad joke in there somewhere. Just give me a minute and I’ll come up with it, mom.

[ All laughing ]

Summer: Yeah, we’ll all be waiting with bated breath.

[ All laughing ]

Adam: I’m just, I’m so sorry for the delay. Here come your libations now.

Victor: Well, it’s about time.

Nick: Yes.

[ Excited exclamations ] Let’s go.

Jordan: I don’t need to ask who this is for. I don’t need to ask who this is for, now do I? Schwarzkopf

Jordan: You can’t wish me out of existence, claire. It doesn’t work that way.

Claire: You can’t be here.

[ Jordan laughing ]

Jordan: But I am here. Deal with it.

Claire: Damn it, jordan. I won’t let– I won’t let you ruin this for me.

Jordan: Oh, my sweet little claire bear. You sound so desperate. Really. It’s pathetic.

Claire: This is the life I was supposed to have. You can’t take it from me.

Jordan: Oh. So next you’re going to tell me that your name is really eve?

Claire: It’s the name that my parents gave me. You took it from me. Just like you took everything that was supposed to be mine. But I have my life back now. And I have it in spite of you.

[ Jordan chuckling ]

Jordan: Well, if you really want it that badly… come fight for it!

[ Footsteps receding ]

Jordan: This is not your life. It’s a fantasy. It’s a dream that will go poof and blow away. This is not how I taught you.

Claire: You only taught me lies. How to hurt people. How to hate. You never taught me how to love.

Jordan: I loved you, claire. I was your entire world until you decided to throw me out. Get rid of me. Toss me away. Apparently, what you really wanted were ponies and party clothes.

Claire: You’re wrong.

Jordan: No, no, no. You need to go back and do your research. Go back and look about those people upstairs. Read the facts about their sordid lives. About how they cheated and robbed each other. And that’s who the newmans are. And that’s who you choose to be with?

Claire: Yes. They chose me too. They like me. They consider me one of them.

Jordan: Oh, it’s all a dream. And they will show their true colors to you. They don’t want you to have this life. They rejected you.

Claire: Those people upstairs might not be perfect. But neither are you. At least they try to learn from their mistakes. They try to be better people. They do more with their lives than just spew poison and plan revenge.

Jordan: It isn’t revenge. It’s called justice. And you know that. In your heart, you feel that.

Claire: Nothing you say matters anymore. You’re trying to avenge someone who died decades ago. Who doesn’t even need avenging. And for what?

Jordan: You are talking about my sister. Your grandmother. You show some respect.

Claire: No. That’s your fantasy world. You have been so determined to get even for something that you weren’t even a part of. It doesn’t make any sense. You’re so obsessed with this that nothing else exists for you. Your life is small. And it’s petty. It’s filled with bitterness and anger. Where is the joy?

Jordan: Well, I find the prospect of destroying those people extremely joyful.

Claire: You can’t be saved. You wasted every second of your life and now you’ll never have anything good or decent. It’s too late for you.

Jordan: Oh, but my darling, you’re forgetting one thing. I’m your aunt jordan. And I am unstoppable. I brought an entire prison down to its knees. I got the high and mighty nikki newman back on booze. And then, I burned sweet victoria’s home down to the ground. And I’m not finished. There’s a lot more to burn down.

Claire: What’s that supposed to mean?

[ Jordan chuckles ]

Jordan: My child, you have forgotten where you came from. What I made you into. Who you are. I changed the course of your life. And I can do it again.

Claire: I’m going back to my birthday celebration. With my real family. The newmans. The people who actually love mE.

Jordan: The people who have brainwashed you. You have nothing but mush up there anymore.

Claire: No, you brainwashed me. But I broke free, thank god. And now I have a chance to build a real life for myself. And you can’t mess that up for me.

Jordan: Claire!

Claire: Did you hear anything that I just said? I said you can’t hurt me anymore. So just go to hell.

Adam: Eve.

Claire: What do you want?

Adam: You know that might work on them, but it doesn’t work on me.

Claire: Excuse me?

Adam: Word of the wise, you should really work on that poker face of yours.

Claire: What are you talking about?

Adam: I’m just stating the obvious. Even if you don’t want to admit it, you are more like me than the rest of them know.

Claire: Why? Because i turned you in to the authorities before you could do serious damage, supposedly? Or because I warned victor that you didn’t have the family’s best interests at heart? You think i deliberately sabotaged you?

Adam: Well, the facts are the facts.

Claire: I didn’t set you up, adam. From everything I’ve heard, I think that’s kind of your thing. And my family said that I have their best interests at heart because I do, okay? Every part of my soul wants to keep them safe and make things right.

Adam: Well, keep telling yourself that. You know, the rest of them, they see the happy, sweet, smiling eve. But I see past all that. Deep down, you have a dark streak. Something more is driving you. And if you were ever to let that out, this town wouldn’t stand a chance. You’d be a force to be reckoned with.

Claire: Are you finished yet? For the record, you and I are nothing alike. Because you can’t change. And I already have.

Summer: Pass the champagne over here!

Cole: Bring on the champagne.

Cassie: I’m so ready!

Cole: There we go.

[ All chattering ]

Cassie: I mean, we were having fun.

Mariah: I could use a mimosa. Let’s be real. (Vo) you might be used to living with your albuterol asthma

Abby: Wow, this is so beautiful.

Victoria: What a gorgeous cake.

Cole: Yeah, the chef outdid himself here.

Summer: Wait, first, we have to do the tradition.

Abby: Here we go.

Summer: There’s no escape.

Kyle: Do I know this tradition?

Nikki: I will tell you. Eve started it when she was around harrison’s age. We were telling her to make a wish before blowing out her candles. And do you know what she said? She said she had everything she wanted and that other people could have her wishes. So we went around the table and anybody who wanted to could make a wish for the upcoming year. Eve loved it so much, we just never stopped. We do it every year now.

Cole: So, eve, are you ready?

Victoria: Go ahead. Make the wish, sweetheart.

Cole: You know the drill.

Claire: This year, I am happy to report that… I have everything that anyone could ever want or need.

Summer: Aw.

[ Chuckling ]

Claire: You’re all welcome to my wishes.

Nikki: All right, there’s your cue. Who has a wish to make?

Devon: You thinking what I’m thinking?

Abby: I wish for a baby brother or baby sister for dominic.

Summer: Hey! You stole our wish.

Kyle: A baby brother or sister for harrison.

Nick: Well, there’s no rule that says the same wish can’t be allocated to multiple people.

Mariah: That’s true. So, my wish is for cassie to always be as happy as she is today.

Cassie: Back at you, sis.

Sharon: Nick, what do you wish for?

Nick: I do have a wish, but first, um… I’d like to ask you all something very important. How does a pickle celebrate its birthday? No, no, no, no, no, no. It relishes every moment. Boom! What do you think? Woo!

[ All groaning ] Come on!

Sharon: I bet you wished for laughter on that one.

Nick: Where is the love? This is a tough room.

Sharon: I have a wish for eve. I hope that her year is filled with joy and laughter and love and free coffee on me for the rest of the month.

Claire: Thank you, sharon. That is really sweet.

Sharon: My pleasure.

Victor: Well, now, I wish my entire family a happy and wealthy and healthy year-end.

Nick: Now, that’s a wish! That’s a wish right there! There we go.

Victor: Thank you.

Cole: So, eve, are you sure that you have everything that you want? I mean, there must be something out there that you’re wishing for.

Claire: Well, I truly am blissfully happy to be here with all of you as a real part of this incredible family. But if I had one wish…

Nikki: What would it be, darling?

Claire: I wish… mom? Mom!

Victoria: Honey, what is it? Did you have a bad dream?

Claire: Can you sit with me?

Victoria: Yeah, of course I will.

[ Victoria sighs ] Is that better?

Claire: Thank you.

[ Victoria sighs ]

Victoria: Awake or asleep, it’s hard right now, isn’t it? I wonder how long it’s gonna be before we can rest easy again.

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Lily: You made your choice. I will make mine.

Heather: I assume that means you’re going to fire me.

Lily: Uh, I don’t know, heather. I haven’t decided yet.

Audra: Just don’t touch me!

Nate: You heard the lady.

Diane: You seem to forget that I’m your superior. You’re supposed to report to me, not the other way around.

Kyle: Well, forgive me if I overstepped.

Hope: You told thomas to end things with me? Steffy, you had no right.

Steffy: To what? Defend thomas? Protect him? If thomas is hurting, I’m gonna go to battle for him every single time.

Hope: And I never meant to hurt him, steffy. I was trying to be honest with him. That I am not ready for another marriage.

Steffy: Okay, so you’re just toying with his emotions?

Hope: You know what I think would’ve hurt him more, steffy? Is if I had accepted his proposal and not meant it. Like, the fact that you think I’m toying with him by being honest with him–

Steffy: I do think you’re toying with his emotions, I just said that. You love the attention. You love the devotion.

Hope: That is not true.

Steffy: Okay.

Hope: I am showing your brother respect by being fully honest with him. And I would hope that you would maybe appreciate the self-awareness to know that I am not yet ready for that level of commitment.

Steffy: Yeah, no, I don’t think you’re self-aware to realize that you are using him. You don’t love thomas. You never have.

Thomas: Hope didn’t accept my proposal. Am I a fool, brooke? Tell me the truth. You know your daughter the best, so… how does she really feel about me?

[ Door opens ]

Ridge: Oh, hey. What’s going on? Thomas? You all right?

Carter: You know, I gotta say, man. It feels good being here not worrying about sheila anymore.

Liam: It does. It does. Now, we get to worry about thomas instead.

Carter: You’re really concerned, aren’t you? That if hope can’t commit to thomas that he’ll, what, he’ll– he’ll lose it again?

Liam: I mean, look, I can– I can admit– I can admit that I’ve seen some apparent change in thomas. Fine. I guess. But this is– this is what he does.

Carter: Liam, liam, liam, I work with the guy every day.

Liam: I know.

Carter: There is no doubt he’s a different man than the guy he was before, all right? But you– you do– okay, you have a point. A small point, but you have a point. He is with hope now and if things end badly, how is–

Liam: How is he gonna react? Exactly. Now, I don’t wanna think the worst… actually, I do– I do wanna think the worst because I think we have very good reasons to.

Ridge: So, who’s gonna fill me in? It’s obvious something’s going on here.

Brooke: Thomas is wondering what I think about my daughter’s feelings for him.

Ridge: What you think? What do you– why do you need to know what she thinks? You know what you think. I mean, you guys have been closer than ever.

Thomas: Yeah, I was wondering if we have a future together. Dad, I, um, I proposed to hope again. And I knew that she loved me and she finally said so. I love her and she said she never wanted what we had to end. However, she turned me down again.

Steffy: I can see what you’re doing, hope.

Hope: No, you don’t know how I feel. Or what thomas means to me.

Steffy: Okay, I know you refuse to accept thomas’s proposal. I know that you’re playing with his emotions even though he has struggled in the past. He was obsessed with you, hope. But you don’t seem to care now. Do you realize how selfish that is? How heartless? Huh. Well, I think I got through to thomas, so…

Hope: Hm. And you really think what’s best for him is to end our relationship?

Steffy: I do. Once and for all. (Ethan) I remember seeing the menthol cigarette ads

Ridge: Ah, thomas, I’m so sorry. I can see how disappointed you are.

Thomas: Disappointed, stunned, and I thought we were on the same page.

Brooke: I know how you feel about this, thomas. I know you’re upset, but hope is upset too. She doesn’t want to hurt you.

Thomas: You never answered my question. How does she really feel about me, brooke? I mean, look, I– I thought I knew. I thought what she was saying was true, but now I don’t know anything. I feel– I’m second-guessing everything. I feel like maybe I’ve been deluding myself. Steffy definitely thinks so.

Ridge: Steffy?

Thomas: Yeah, I told her what happened.

Ridge: Well, she must have some good advice for you.

Thomas: She told me to move on with my life, without hope.

Liam: Well, look, as much as thomas may have changed, maybe, it’s still– old habits are easy to fall back on, right? Especially in moments of distress, moments of pain, right? And if hope eventually does reject him, I just– all I’m saying is it could get ugly, and it would get ugly fast.

Carter: Given his past, I can’t say I disagree.

Liam: Thank you. I just don’t understand why she would put herself in this position in the first place.

Carter: It would all be healthier if hope stayed away, not risking thomas backsliding. And I– I get why steffy is concerned he might be set up for another fall. I mean, it’s weird, right? It’s weird that hope is wearing his ring on her necklace and not her finger, and that’s gotta be eating away at the guy. Iam: Thank god it’s not on her finger.

Carter: It can’t be on her necklace forever. She’ll eventually have to either accept his proposal or turn him down, and you seem pretty convinced it’ll be the latter.

Liam: Because it has to be. Because the former is– is a non-starter. And that’s true even if it ends up ticking steffy off a bit.

Carter: Ticking steffy off? I didn’t get the impression she wants them together.

Liam: It’s not the she wants them together. I just think that she would prefer that over hope breaking thomas’ heart again. Look, it’s weird, okay? Hope is in this, like, weird position where– well, she can’t marry him. That would be a disaster. She also can’t turn him down because that too would be a disaster, right? It risks setting him off. Making him, you know, fly off the handle again. But more than that, it risks steffy and her wrath. And, you know, nobody wants to make an enemy out of steffy.

Hope: You would really do that? You’d tell your brother to give up on me?

Steffy: Oh, I did. For his own self-respect, sanity, and dignity.

Hope: Steffy, we have been good for each other.

Steffy: Yeah, you see, that’s that selfish side kicking in. This has been good for you, hope. Your relationship has been completely one-sided.

Hope: Well, that would be your interpretation, and you would be wrong. Thomas does not feel that way.

Steffy: Okay, you know what thomas struggled with in the past. What he had to overcome. Like any normal person in this situation, they would’ve run away. They would have put up firm boundaries the moment thomas expressed interest again. But not you. No, you wanna continue to lead him on.

Hope: That is not true. I’m not leading him on.

Steffy: Okay, that’s what you think. But I know thomas is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He finally sees you for who you truly are. Someone who’s never gonna commit. You’re never going to give him what he wants. You’re just going to take and take and take. And when you’re finally done with him, you’re going to walk away. And you’re going to leave him to pick up the pieces.

Hope: You know, steffy, I wouldn’t fool yourself. You know nothing of my relationship with thomas. We make each other better people. We make each other laugh. He is one of my best friends, steffy.

Steffy: Okay.

Hope: You really don’t care about him at all, do you? Wow. Look, your brother has grown and has proven himself to be someone I can count on. He’s someone that cares about me.

Steffy: Not anymore. (Vo) wish you knew how your cat was feeling?

Carter: Thank you. And could I have another? Thank you. Liam, worrying doesn’t help. Okay, so either hope is going to accept thomas’s proposal or not, but ultimately–

Liam: She can’t do it. She can’t do it. There’s just too much at stake. Including steffy.

Carter: Who wants to protect her brother from getting hurt if hope were to–

Liam: It’s not just– it’s not… it’s protection, yes, it’s not just protection. Steffy is like fiercely determined to keep thomas from backsliding, and this is the kind of thing that could do that.

Carter: And like you said, hope better watch out. You don’t wanna be on steffy’s bad side.

Brooke: Steffy told you to walk away from my daughter?

Thomas: More like run.

Ridge: Well, she was being protective, right? It’s your little sister. And she, um, she can see how upset you are. We can all see it.

Brooke: Yes, and we feel terrible about that. But if hope isn’t ready to make a commitment, would you really want her to accept your proposal?

Ridge: Can I have a moment alone with my son, please? Is that alright?

Brooke: Oh, yeah. Of course. I’m sorry, thomas, really. I really am. I don’t know what to tell you about my daughter.

Ridge: Sorry, son. I hate this. I hate seeing you confused like this.

Thomas: Maybe I’m not confused. Maybe steffy’s right.

Steffy: Thomas heard me. He really heard me.

Hope: And then I’ll make sure he hears me too.

Steffy: Yeah, I think he’s done with you.

Hope: Just because I didn’t accept the proposal doesn’t just mean our relationship is over.

Steffy: Do you hear yourself right now? This relationship, or whatever you want to call it, is entirely on your terms.

Hope: That isn’t fair.

Steffy: What you’re doing to thomas isn’t fair. You’re acting like it’s some kind of game.

Hope: Oh, my gosh. Steffy, do you really have to butt into everything?

Steffy: Well, that’s what I do.

Hope: Did you forget that, like, I was just married? And maybe walking down the aisle isn’t exactly on the top of my priority list right now?

Steffy: That and neither is thomas. Will he ever be? You’re not capable of considering his needs. You’re not putting him first. This relationship, it needs to be over. It shouldn’t have even started in the first place. Now he needs to be with a woman who truly loves–

Hope: I love him. I do. And we share a son. And that alone should be enough for you to back off. How dare you? How dare you interfere?

Hey! Asthma’s

got you going through it?

Carter: I should head back to the office.

Liam: Yeah, me too.

Carter: Thanks for lunch, man.

Liam: Thanks for letting me, uh, kvetch at you.

Carter: Well, people say I’m a decent listener.

Liam: You are. You– you– you are a– a decent listener. Uh, speaking of, I know ridge is your best friend. You’re not gonna– you’re not gonna go back to the office– like, you’re not gonna tell him everything I just said, are you?

Carter: I’m not a gossip.

Liam: Oh, thank god.

Carter: And I think you have a right to be concerned. And I think steffy has a good reason to be too. Nobody wants a jilted thomas.

Liam: Jilted thomas is coming. And probably sooner than later. And, you know, all we can do is cross our fingers and hope steffy just takes charge and– and reins him in. I mean, that’s kind of what steffy does. She’s a fascinating woman, but she’s also an intense woman. And if she walks into a room, she… takes command of it. Expertly. Beautifully even.

Carter: Yeah, she’s very commanding. She’s also very married.

Ridge: Sorry, son. I know how much you wanted a life with hope. It’s all you’ve been talking about. And brooke and I were just talking about the same thing, how the two of you, you could lead this family, you could lead this company. And I– I’ve wanted that all along. I want a life with hope. I want a family with her. I wanna excel here at work together and that’s what I thought we were going to do, but… she just won’T. She won’t accept my proposal. She won’t be my wife.

Ridge: Maybe she needs more time.

Thomas: Yeah… I don’t know. Steffy has been telling me for a long time. Hope doesn’t wanna commit to me. She’s never going to. She’s just playing with my feelings, I mean… has steffy been right all along?

Hope: Why must you insist on interfering?

Steffy: His mental health? His well-being? I mean, gee, I wonder.

Hope: Okay, well, thomas has been doing better than ever, and you know that. So, how about you just leave us alone and let us live our lives?

Steffy: His well-being, hope, I was just with thomas. He’s devastated. I’m not going to sit back and watch you use him.

Hope: You clearly have no understanding about what we share, because if you did, you would not be doing this right now. I care about him.

Steffy: You really care about him?

Hope: Yes, I do.

Steffy: Well, if you do, then leave him. Stop stringing him along.

Hope: That is not what I am doing.

Steffy: You are using him. You’re, like, using him like some kind of disgusting sex toy, it’s gross.

Hope: Oh, my god, that is not what we share.

Steffy: Thomas loves you.

Hope: And I love him.

Steffy: He is completely devoted to you, hope. And you’re not giving him anything in return. You just expect that thomas should always be there for you. Don’t you see how cruel this is? You are taking thomas for granted. He’s put his heart out on the line. Gosh, he’s asked you to marry him, and you just keep turning him down. It’s sad.

Hope: I said no to marriage. I did not say no to him. Thomas, douglas, beth and I, we are a family, and nothing is going to change that.

Steffy: I’m well aware. Which makes the situation even more unforgivable. God. It really happened. You have gone full logan. You are exactly like brooke. Selfish. You’re self-centered. You’re throwing yourself at a forrester. You don’t care about tearing a family apart. You don’t care about hurting people. Well, I’m not going to let that happen anymore. If thomas hasn’t decided to end things with you, I’m gonna make sure he does. You are done using and abusing my brother. Do you hear me? Those days are over. It’s over, hope.

Announcer: Here’s a look at what’s ahead.

Steffy: Thomas, you do not deserve this.

Hope: She is trying to drive a wedge between thomas and me and I will not allow it.

Steffy: You hurt my brother. It’s the same way your mother did with my father, my grandfather.

Hope: How dare you?

Steffy: Don’t even try it.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Xander waits in the interrogation room at the police station.

Sarah is finishing her work at the hospital when she gets a call from Justin and asks what the news is. Sarah excitedly tells him she’ll be right there and hangs up, then hurries out of the hospital.

At the hospital, Chanel tells Paulina that she still doesn’t understand what happened but calls it the best day ever. Johnny comments on Paulina not needing a heart transplant while Abe calls it a true miracle. Paulina says having them all there made the difference. Johnny says they wouldn’t have had it any other way and as a bonus, they got to see Eli and Lani. Chanel talks about seeing Lani free and the twins getting so big. Paulina says they are a happy family again and it warms her heart. Paulina jokes about having to move the FBI headquarters to Salem so Eli can work local. Abe wishes her luck with that as Paulina questions if he’s underestimating her.

Ava decides she will go get Harris his pain meds and she will be right back. Ava exits the bedroom and then Stefan arrives at the front door, saying he needs to talk to her as he needs her help. Ava tells him it’s not a good time and he needs to go but Harris comes out of the bedroom and acknowledges Stefan as his would-be assassin. Harris declares that Stefan is not going anywhere, leaving Ava confused in between. Harris reveals to Ava that Stefan lured him to the loading dock and shot him in close range. Ava is shocked and questions Stefan shooting Harris. Stefan tells Ava that Clyde didn’t give him a choice. Ava calls Stefan a bastard and slaps him. Ava calls Stefan a lying son of a bitch. Stefan repeats that he had no choice as Clyde would’ve taken out Gabi. Harris argues that there was a choice for both of them. Harris tells Ava that he begged her to tell him the truth but she dodged the question and said she didn’t want him caught in the crossfire but that didn’t work out. Harris argues that none of this would’ve happened if Ava just told him the whole story and then Tripp and Wendy might not have been kidnapped. Ava agrees that she should’ve trusted Harris.

Sarah goes to the interrogation room and informs Xander that Justin called her and said he’s getting out, asking how that happened. Xander explains that Harris couldn’t positively identify him as his shooter so Justin convinced the judge to let him out on bail. Sarah is excited but can’t believe that EJ didn’t push back on that. Xander agrees and comments on a DiMera setting a Kiriakis free. Sarah says she has to call Justin back since she basically hung up on him to get here. Xander informs her that he’s downstairs getting his bond posted and once that’s done, he’s out of here. Sarah says he’ll be home as they kiss.

Paulina says at least Lani is now free to come and go as she pleases. Paulina hopes to see a lot of Lani and the grandbabies, even if Eli is off saving the world. Abe points out that maybe they can visit them in the summer. Chanel says she and Johnny will go with them. Paulina says before they make family plans, Chanel and Johnny will need some alone time together. Paulina encourages them to go home and rest. Johnny promises that they will. Chanel and Johnny say goodbye to Paulina and Abe. Johnny adds that next time they see Paulina, she will be home as they exit. Paulina says she loves them so much but jokes that she thought they’d never leave as her and Abe kiss. Paulina can’t wait for them to live together again. Kate and Roman then arrive to visit. Paulina says she’s so happy to see them. Roman says they are even happier to see her so happy and healthy. Abe asks how they got in so late. Roman reminds him that his sister is chief of staff. Roman and Kate mention seeing Johnny and Chanel on their way out and congratulating them on their marriage. Paulina calls their wedding the best news while Kate and Roman says the best news is Paulina being healthy and Abe getting his memory back. Abe confirms he remembers everything even back to their old days. Paulina is just glad they came and announces they are going home tomorrow.

Chanel and Johnny walk through the town square. Chanel says even though it was crazy last minute and worried about Paulina, their hospital wedding was perfect, simple, and sweet. Johnny agrees and says there was no pressure to perform in front of everybody. They talk about all the issues they avoided. Johnny points out that since they didn’t have a wedding reception, they never got to have their first dance as husband and wife. Chanel asks what they shall do about that. Johnny calls it a bit belated and says there’s no dance floor or band, but he’s in the mood right now so he asks her to dance which she accepts.

Sarah brings Xander home and apologizes for things being a bit of a mess. Xander swears to never take it for granted again. Sarah says she’s going to text Maggie to check on Victoria but Xander points out that it’s late so Sarah decides she’ll just call her in the morning as she’s sure everything is fine. Sarah says Victoria will be so happy to see him again and they will pick her up first thing in the morning. Xander declares that tonight is all their’s as they kiss.

Stefan tells Harris not to put this on Ava because they all know Clyde is the bad guy here. Ava agrees that they should’ve trusted Harris. Stefan argues that Harris is fine now and Tripp and Wendy are safe, so no harm, no foul. Ava complains that Harris was in a coma while Tripp and Wendy nearly died. Harris asks Stefan if it’s supposed to be okay that he’s only an attempted murderer and calls him a real disgusting piece of work. Stefan asks what about Ava and if Harris knows what Ava was doing when she was so lonely and guilt-ridden, calling it nothing to be ashamed of.

Paulina repeats that she and Abe are going home tomorrow morning and as wonderful as everyone at the hospital has been, she can’t wait to go. Roman comments on them being roommates once again. Paulina says then she’ll be back to work as Mayor again. Abe reminds her to make sure she heals. Paulina responds that she feels so strong like she can face anything. Kate calls it amazing and doesn’t understand what exactly happened. Kate asks if Paulina was misdiagnosed with a heart condition. Paulina asks Abe if she should tell them. Abe says to go ahead, so Paulina reveals that she flatlined. Kate and Roman asks if the doctors brought her back. Paulina explains that it wasn’t the doctors, but Abe was holding her hand and then put it over her heart. Paulina talks about the beeping getting louder and then seeing a bright white light and then she was healed. Kate doesn’t know what to say to that and calls it really miraculous. Abe says it definitely was. Abe adds that the other miracle is that he got his memory back at the same time. Roman calls that a story for the ages. Abe decides he and Roman will go get coffee. Kate sits with Paulina as she wonders what they are up to. Kate knows Roman is thrilled about Abe getting his memory back.

Xander carries Sarah to the couch as they continue kissing.

Johnny tells Chanel that now they have had their first dance. Chanel calls it lovely as they kiss. Johnny says there’s still one more thing they haven’t done yet as husband and wife this time. Chanel asks if they should head home. Johnny says a house full of DiMeras is not exactly romantic, so they look over to the Salem Inn. They then head to the Inn.

Ava asks Stefan what the hell. Stefan says he’s just trying to point out that none of them are saints. Ava tells Harris that it’s not like that as she was only pretending to be in a relationship with Stefan to protect Harris. Ava admits that one night, they drank too much and it was stupid. Harris says he doesn’t care as that was then and this is now. Stefan argues that she should be grateful that he didn’t tell him before. Harris brings up Stefan trying to kill him for a second time. Stefan complains about Harris making him agree to take the fall for their misdeeds and asks why he would do that. Harris argues that Ava didn’t try to murder him twice. Stefan declares that if he goes down for this, he’s taking Ava down with him. Harris says no as their agreement stands so Stefan is going to turn himself in for drug trafficking and money laundering, then he’s going to confess that it was him and only him that was acting as Clyde’s partner while Ava was coerced, threatened, and an unwilling participant. Ava questions why he would do that. Harris says there’s a real good reason because he’ll get a lighter sentence than he would for attempted murder of a police officer, so he’s going to take the fall for those crimes and then the man who shot him will remain unknown forever. Harris asks Stefan what’s it going to be.

Johnny and Chanel get a room at the Salem Inn and start kissing as they begin to remove their clothes and move onto the bed.

Xander tells Sarah that he had a dream after they fell asleep together where he couldn’t find her or Victoria. Sarah assures that it was just a dream. Xander says he knows why he had that dream, because the charges against him haven’t been dropped so he could still be charged with attempted murder and go away for a very long time. Xander worries that he couldn’t handle being away from Sarah and Victoria again. Sarah kisses him and they hug.

Roman tells Abe that he’s glad to have him back. Abe says he’s glad to be back. Roman talks about missing their times at the Pub. Abe says his heart beats for his wife and family, but his blood will always run blue which Roman toasts their coffee to.

Kate tells Paulina that she’s so happy to see her as her wonderful and energetic self as she was worried about her. Paulina responds that she was worried too but God had other plans for her and Abe. Paulina then admits that now that she and Abe are going to be living together again, she was always worried that she wasn’t really Abe’s type. Kate asks what she’s talking about since he adores her. Paulina says she knows that but worries about being in her presence all the time when Abe is more mellow and easygoing. Paulina calls herself a real handful. Kate jokes that she’s no walk in the park either and never thought she was Roman’s type. Paulina decides they are just like her and Abe, so she and Kate ended up with their opposites. Kate guesses someone up there knew better than they did. Paulina responds that someone up there took really good care of her. Paulina repeats that she feels so strong like she can face anything. Kate says that’s always been the case and everyone who knows her always knew that, so now she knows it too.

Harris asks Stefan why Xander. Stefan calls him a believable suspect, ex-con and a thug for hire. Harris argues that Xander was totally innocent and Stefan was willing to ruin his life. Harris repeats that Stefan tried to kill him twice and was going to let Xander take the fall, so maybe he’s letting him off easy with this deal. Harris warns that he better take the deal before he changes his mind. Stefan argues that Ava was as deep in it as he was. Harris doesn’t give a damn. Harris gives Stefan until 9 AM tomorrow morning to turn himself in or the deal is off and he won’t like what happens. Stefan then exits the apartment in frustration.

Roman questions Abe about putting his hand over Paulina’s heart and the room filling with white light. Roman asks if Abe has divine powers now or something. Abe sighs so Roman questions what he’s not telling him. Abe reveals it’s about Lexie. Abe knows it sounds bizarre and asks him not to share this with anyone, but says he saw Lexie and she’s the one who brought the miracle to them because Paulina was dying but the white light came and Lexie was in it. Roman asks if Paulina saw her too. Abe confirms that Paulina thought she was there to take her to Heaven but Lexie said they both needed to live. Abe says that is when Paulina’s heart started beating again and his memories came flooding back. Roman doesn’t know what to say but God bless Lexie for giving Paulina her life back and Abe his past back. Abe talks about his memories including the years he was with Lexie. Abe notes that he feels something disturbing which Roman questions. Abe states that even though Lexie is gone, he feels as if he’s disloyal to Paulina. Roman encourages that the woman he loves now is Paulina and his memories of Lexie are important but shouldn’t overshadow what he has now.

Paulina thanks Kate for coming and says she’s so blessed to have her for a friend. Kate says having someone to talk to really means a lot to her too. Paulina says most of her girl friends are back in Miami. Kate admits she hasn’t had many female friends. They joke about men and women being different. Kate jokes that Roman and Abe are probably talking about how lucky they are to have amazing wives like them. Paulina feels lucky right now too, to have an amazing husband and friend. Kate feels the same way.

Sarah tells Xander that they will take things one day at a time and not worry about tomorrow. Xander feels that’s easier said than done. Xander says he’d been so careful to stay on the straght and narrow, so he worries about being punished for his past. Sarah believes people can grow and change which Xander is proving. Xander worries that maybe they’d be better off without him. Sarah says he said that before but they need him here close. Sarah tells Xander not to argue as she wants him in her life and Victoria’s life because he’s important to them and because she loves him as they kiss.

Roman and Abe return to Paulina’s room. Kate asks how the coffee was. Roman jokes that it was terrible and asks what they were talking about. Paulina says it was just girl talk and asks if they were talking about barbecue. Roman says they’ll all get together for barbecue when Paulina is feeling up to it. Paulina says she’ll let them know. Roman says they will let her get some rest. Kate tells Paulina to take care and she’ll see her soon. Kate and Roman then exit together.

Johnny and Chanel lay in bed together after having sex. Chanel says lying in his arms is the one place in the world where she feels like nothing can go wrong. Johnny feels the same and suggests they stay here for a few nights and enjoy the privacy and the feeling that nothing can go wrong. Johnny knows she’s tired as she’s been through so much lately so they say goodnight.

Xander and Sarah continue kissing. Sarah says they have come so far and promises there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Xander asks what he did to deserve her. Sarah assures that he’s got her. Xander says he loves her. Sarah repeats that she loves him and they resume kissing as they then head to the back.

Ava tells Harris that what happened between her and Stefan meant nothing and she’s so sorry. Harris tells her not to apologize. Ava says he’s so calm but she knows he’s angry. Harris responds that they can’t change the past, so all they can do is move forward. Ava asks why he’s doing this for her and making Stefan take the blame when he knows she’s just as guilty. Harris thinks she knows why. Ava responds that she’s not so sure. Harris declares that it’s because he loves her and he knows she loves him as he heard her say it when she thought he wasn’t listening in the hospital. Harris asks if she meant it. Ava cries that she loves him as Harris hugs her.

Stefan walks to the Brady Pub but finds it closed and questions what the hell a guy has to do to get a drink around here. Stefan complains that he has to take the fall for everything while Ava gets off scot free. Stefan declares that they’ll see about that.

Steffy: Hope said no to you, now it’s your turn to say no to her, do you hear me?

Thomas: I planned a speech. I planned everything. I made a dress for her. She had the ring.

Steffy: A ring that she’s been wearing as a necklace, thomas. She didn’t even put it on her finger, that’s not right.

Thomas: Steffy, I love her. I love her so much. And I know she loves me. Why won’t she accept my proposal? Why won’t she just commit to me?

Thomas: I want the world to see us walking into the future together, hand in hand, side by side. All you have to do is say you’ll marry me.

Hope: I’m not ready for a forever commitment. I’m sorry, but I can’t be. I’m sorry.

Thomas: No.

Hope: I’m sorry, thomas, wait.

[ Door closes ]

Brooke: Oh, there you are. I’ve been looking all over for you. Wow, what is all this? Honey, what’s wrong?

> Liam: Without the beef, that’s all right. Thanks. Carter, here.

Carter: Hey.

Liam: Hey, what are you doing? You meeting somebody?

Carter: I’m having some lunch.

Liam: Okay, well then have lunch with me.

Carter: Okay. Okay, thanks man. You know, it’s a lot easier coming here now that sheila’s gone?

Liam: I was just saying the same thing. Fortunately, you know who it’s not easier for? Steffy. The sheila nightmare is all still happening for her.

Liam: Steffy’s a good person. Right? I mean, she was traumatized by what she did.

Carter: It was self-defense.

Liam: Yes, it was self-defense, but that’s the thing, justified or not, she still took a life and, you know, for her, that’S… I’m just– I’m concerned about her well-being.

Carter: Yeah, well, her family’s looking out for her.

Liam: Yeah, so am I, so is everyone, but, you know, steffy’s also gotta be looking out for herself, and that’s just not where her head’s at. Like, I was– I saw her earlier, and you know what she’s most concerned about? Thomas. Because of hope.

Hope: I– I, um. I don’t want anyone to see me like this.

Brooke: What’s going on, sweetheart? Why are you crying?

Hope: I can’T…

Brooke: What? What happened?

Hope: It’s thomas.

Brooke: He was here?

Hope: And he just– he ran off before he– he let me explain.

Brooke: So you got in a fight?

Hope: No, mom. He proposed again.

Brooke: And you didn’t accept?

Hope: I just– I’m– I’m not– I’m not ready.

Thomas: I just don’t understand. What did I do wrong?

Steffy: Thomas, you did nothing wrong. This is all hope’s doing.

Thomas: I just can’t believe she rejected me again.

Steffy: Well, I hate to say it, but I’m not surprised. Look, I– I know that you love her, I do, and that comes from a good place, but it is not gonna get you anywhere. All it’s gonna do is cause you pain and frustration. She has let you down so many times. I mean, come on, enough is enough. You need to end your relationship with hope.

Carter: Steffy’s always been protective of her brother.

Liam: Yeah, whether thomas deserves it or not.

Carter: So steffy’s concerned about thomas’ relationship with hope.

Liam: Mm-hmm. You know why? Because she thinks hope is leading him on.

Carter: Well, I have seen hope wearing the engagement ring on a necklace, not her finger.

Liam: Yeah, thank god.

Carter: Sounds like you have some concerns of your own.

Liam: Yeah, but it’s me. I’m biased, right? And I’ve always thought that relationship was doomed to fail. I just, uh, err on the side of worrying thomas is gonna hurt hope, not vice versa.

Carter: Well, it’s good to see you’re not broken up about her not accepting the proposal.

Liam: Can you tell? Can you tell? Listen, I know, I– I get that you have a different relationship with thomas than I do. I just don’t trust him.

Carter: But you said that steffy thinks hope’s the problem.

Thomas: Oh, yeah. Yeah, no she does, because, uh, she thinks that hope is gonna break his fragile little heart.

Hope: He couldn’t even look at me, mom. I hurt him so much.

Brooke: And I’m sure you feel awful about that, honey. But like you said, you are not ready to make this kind of commitment.

Hope: I– I know, and I’ve told thomas that, and I thought he understood. I mean, he– he said that he wasn’t in any rush.

Brooke: Well, what changed? Did he get the wrong idea?

Hope: I don’t– I don’t know. I mean, we’ve always been, you know, sharing our feelings. We’ve been open and honest from the start.

Brooke: Honey, there is no reason for you to rush into a marriage. Especially considering the way your marriage ended with liam. Honey, you need to think about that. You need to think about yourself and your children. There’s a lot to consider here.

Hope: I know that, mom. But you should’ve seen the look on his face. He was heartbroken. And I did that. I caused that pain. And I can’t even imagine what he’s feeling right now.

Steffy: Hope’s been using you, thomas. I’m sorry to be so blunt, but it’s true. All hope does is break your heart over and over again. She won’t wear your ring. She won’t accept your proposal. She doesn’t wanna have a future with you. And all you’re asking for is a promise. A promise that hope would commit herself to you. But she won’T. She’s not gonna do it.

Thomas: I should’ve done what I said I would do, which is give her more time.

Steffy: Oh, my god. Stop this, okay? Hope is the problem. Waiting around is not gonna solve it. That’s what she wants you to do. It’s like some kind of game.

Thomas: There’s no game, steff.

Steffy: No, not to you. You actually want a future with her. You want a family. But she doesn’t want that. You need to get it through your head. She’s just stringing you along. I mean, thomas, come on. You know that. Oh, god, I’ve like said this so many times and you didn’t wanna hear it. Hope didn’t want to hear it. You just gotta think about yourself right now. You really need to think about your sanity. You need to leave hope. Okay everyone, our mission is to provide complete,

Carter: See, I thought everyone was more positive about hope and thomas these days.

Liam: Who are you talking about? Wait, so we got ridge, and we got–

Carter: Clearly not you or steffy, that’s for sure.

Liam: Yeah, clearly not, not when it comes to this.

Carter: Liam, hope and thomas, they’ve been seeing each other for a while now. They seem happy.

Liam: Okay, all right. What happens when it all goes wrong?

Carter: Is that what steffy’s worried about? That hope’s gonna break it off with thomas?

Liam: Yeah, well that’s what she’s worried about and then what I’m worried about is how thomas is gonna react when she does.

Carter: Okay, all right. That’s something to consider given thomas’ past, okay.

Liam: Thank you. I– right. But steffy’s still focused on the hope part. She thinks that hope isn’t really in love with him.

Carter: And you don’t either.

Liam: Every time you bring him up to hope, she gets all like, she gets all defensive and she’s like, “you don’t know what we have and you don’t understand the situation.” I’m just saying like, okay, if she were really head over heels for the guy, would she be doing that? I don’t think so.

Carter: So you’re saying that hope is setting thomas up for another huge disappointment.

Hope: I feel terrible, mom. I mean, things have been going so well. We’ve been so happy.

Brooke: So thomas wants to take the next step and you’re not quite there.

Hope: I tried to explain it to him, but he was so hurt and he was in so much pain and I just couldn’t get through to him. And I just feel like I just ruined everything.

Brooke: Honey, stop. You can’t think that way. What are you doing? You are a kind, compassionate woman. But sometimes, you need to look out for yourself. What’s good for your heart? You can’t just go into a marriage. If that’s not what you truly want.

Hope: I want thomas, mom. I want our relationship. I want thomas to know that I’m so grateful for him and I want him to understand that I love him. I love him, mom. I love him.

Steffy: You can’t be there for hope anymore. You need to cut her out of your life.

Thomas: You don’t know what you’re asking of me.

Steffy: I’m telling you to save yourself, thomas.

Thomas: Steff, I really thought she was gonna say yes.

Steffy: I know this is really painful for you, okay? I know that you’re devastated. But you need to think about douglas. You can’t have him keep watching you get burned by hope.

Thomas: Okay, but I am– I’m not going to hide my feelings from my son.

Steffy: Okay, okay. If douglas was in a situation like this, he was involved with a girl treating him the exact same way hope is treating you, what would you tell him? You would want him to protect himself. Show him that. Think about your pride and your dignity. I mean, thomas, this situation is really wearing you out. I mean, you are in a toxic relationship. And this toxicity, it may resurrect your demons. I don’t want that for you. You’ve worked so hard on yourself, okay? You’ve changed. Everything that’s going on with hope, it’s not worth it. She’s not worth it. Today proves that. I want you to be happy. Just not with hope. I mean, you could be with any other woman in the world. You deserve that. You deserve to be happy. Good food tastes better with a dollop of daisy

Hope: Thomas.

Thomas: You and me, together. I wanna spend the rest of our lives with each other. Say you’ll be my wife.

Hope: I love you. I really do. But I– I can’t accept your proposal, I’m– I’m not ready.

Steffy: She has let you down so many times. I mean, come on, enough is enough. You need to end your relationship with hope.

Brooke: Thomas.

Thomas: Is that for me?

Brooke: Uh, no, actually, I didn’t know you’d be here. I saw hope in the salon. You proposed again.

Thomas: I really don’t wanna talk about it. I’m trying to work.

Brooke: I’m not here to make you feel worse. Really, I can see how heartbroken you are. My daughter is too. Thomas, she didn’t mean to hurt you. And she didn’t wanna reject you.

Thomas: She said no.

Brooke: But you can understand why. She did try to explain.

Thomas: She’s been wearing my ring. I get it. She’s been wearing it on a necklace, I know. But she’s been wearing it. She could have just said no. She could’ve rejected it. She could’ve given it back to me, but she didn’T. She kept wearing it. And ever since then, we have only gotten closer and closer. And the other night, she told me that she never, ever wanted what we found in rome to end. I really thought she’d say yes. I thought she’d accept my proposal, I… have I just been a fool, brooke? Tell me the truth. Does hope really love me?

Steffy: Sometimes, I just hate being right.

Hope: You know.

Steffy: Oh, that thomas’ heart was broken? Yes, I know.

Hope: Steffy, I never meant to hurt your brother.

Steffy: I knew this was gonna happen, I knew it. And here we are.

Hope: Steffy, I’m just not ready for that level of commitment.

Steffy: Oh, I know that. But the only person who doesn’t know that is thomas. God, you gotta stop with this game. Thomas has loved you for so long, so much so that he almost messed up his life. But he’s fought back. He’s turned his life around.

Hope: I know that, steffy. That’s why it’s different this time. That’s why I love him.

Steffy: Oh, you do not love him.

Hope: Yes, I do.

Steffy: He professed his love to you. He said that you are the only woman in the world. He wants to be with you, so what’s the problem?

Hope: I know what he means to me, and I know that I can count on him.

Steffy: Not anymore. I think I got through to him.

Hope: What did you do?

Steffy: I told him the truth. That you’re never gonna accept the proposal. And that you’re just using him. You’re just toying with his emotions. So, I told thomas to stand up and tell you he is done with you. He’s ending his relationship with you once and for all.

Chelsea: I have enormous faith in therapy and treatment. I really do. But, um, I’m just not sure I know how to do this. And I’m actually not quite sure I– I can do this. Um, deal with connor’s ocd, his, um, his treatment, I mean.

Alcott: You’re not the first parent to worry that they won’t be able to cope with this kind of diagnosis. But once you have all the information and are equipped with the right tools, I think you’ll find you’re stronger than you believe, more than capable of helping connor.

Chelsea: My situation is– is different. I’m– I’m not talking about your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill parental anxiety. Things are, um, different for me because of my past. And I’m worried that it’s gonna make things much worse for my sweet little boy, if it hasn’t already.

Adam: I haven’t really had a chance to check out your new room.

Connor: Yeah.

Adam: It’s nice. I, uh, I can help you put away your stuff you asked for from home if you want?

Connor: No, you’ll do it wrong.

Adam: Do you like this room better than the other room? You never really explained to us why you wanted to change rooms.

Connor: I don’t wanna talk about it.

Adam: Well, it must be a pretty big reason for you to wanna up and move in the middle of the school year.

Connor: It’s no big deal, all right?

Adam: Connor, come on. I’m your old man. You can tell me anything. Is there a problem with another student?

Connor: Nothing like that.

Adam: Well, then what? You didn’t like the view? Didn’t like the color of the walls? It was too far from the dining hall, hmm?

Connor: It was me.

Adam: You? What does that mean?

Connor: I couldn’t stay in there because of me and my craziness.

Kyle: There’s definitely more to claire’s story than what she and victoria were willing to share.

Summer: Yeah, I’m not saying that anybody has to tell us anything, but the way that victoria was so careful with each of her words, it… I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe I’m overreacting. Sure, claire was sweet, and she did have some sort of an instant connection with harrison, and he was in a very bad mood, and she made him smile and come out of his shell.

Kyle: It’s a nice change of pace after how the day started.

Summer: Not just today. I mean, we haven’t seen harrison’s happy, usual self in a while now, and I just– I do want him to feel safe again, like he was before linda went away, and definitely before–

Kyle: When we split up.

Summer: Yeah. Look, I’m not saying no to interviewing claire. I’m just saying before we really consider it, we need to do some research.

Nick: Mom? Dad? Vic?

Victor: Son, didn’t realize you were coming.

Nick: Where is everyone?

[ Banging ]

Jordan: Ah! Ow! Ow! Damn it.

Claire: She doesn’t sound happy.

Victoria: Just wait until she sees us.

Jordan: Is someone there?

[ Banging ] Is someone there? Help me! Help me! I’m locked in here to die like an animal! Please, let me out! Someone help me! Oh! Oh, thank god!

[ Gasping ]

Nikki: Sorry to burst your bubble, jordan, but this isn’t a rescue party. ()

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by… nothing makes a gathering great

Jordan: Get out! Get out!

Nikki: She says that as if she has any power here.

Jordan: Oh. I can take you all.

Nikki: I would advise you not to try anything.

Claire: The three of us could easily take you.

Jordan: Aren’t you suddenly so brave? And you? Bluffing!

[ Jordan laughing ] What kind of sick tea party is this, huh? This is ridiculous.

Claire: Looks like she’s broken a nail. Ooh, several of them.

Victoria: Did she really think she’d be able to claw her way out of here?

Nikki: Guess she’s not as smart as she thinks she is.

Jordan: Stop it. Just stop it.

Nikki: Not much fun being locked up against your will, is it?

Jordan: That’s it? That’s all you got? You merely came to gloat?

Nikki: After all the hell you have put us through, I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon. Ladies, who wants to go first?

Victor: Your mother has taken your sister and claire to where jordan is.

Nick: What are you talking about?

Victor: Your mother insisted on confronting jordan. And claire and victoria are with her right now as we speak.

Nick: Dad, are you serious? How is that remotely a good idea?

Victor: I agree with you. I was more than reluctant to give my okay. However, your mother thinks confronting that jordan woman would allow her to reclaim her own strength, allow her to remain sober.

Nick: What about claire and victoria? Why are they there?

Victor: Well, they feel similarly empowered by confronting jordan and showing jordan that she can no longer terrorize them. I don’t like the whole thing.

Nick: Some strong women in this family.

Victor: You can say that again.

Chelsea: I’m not sure if you noticed, but earlier, I mentioned getting help for my own issues. I attempted suicide about a year and a half ago. I was on the roof of a building, standing on a ledge, ready to jump. Convinced it was the only way to escape the pain that had become pretty much unbearable. You know, my own intrusive thoughts, similar to connor’s, I suppose. Uh, the only reason I’m here now is a friend was able to get to me in time. He stopped me. And even though he held me in his arms and told me everything was gonna be okay… I just wanted it all to be over.

Alcott: You sought help?

Chelsea: Yeah. I went to an inpatient facility and I had an amazing therapist. It was really hard at first, you know, digging through years of emotions I had been ignoring pretty much, but, um, eventually it got easier and I’ve been in therapy ever since.

Alcott: What you’ve done takes a great deal of strength. You should be very proud of yourself.

Chelsea: Thanks. I am proud. I am proud, but I have to be honest with you. Yeah, the guilt– the guilt– I’m starting to feel that maybe I… I passed something horrible onto my son. It’s overwhelming.

Adam: Connor, we talked about this, right? The “crazy” word? That is just the ocd talking. Because you, connor newman, you are the greatest kid ever.

Connor: Who’s crazy.

Adam: Buddy–

Connor: Call it what you want. It’s still what it is.

Adam: We’re gonna fix this, okay? And everything is gonna be okay. Can we get back to the room change for a second? Was somebody being a jerk to you? Was someone bullying you, connor?

Connor: No, that’s not it.

Adam: Look, I’m sorry. I’m trying to understand so I can help you.

Connor: It was the room number.

Adam: Okay. It was the room number. Well, your favorite number is seven, or anything that can be divided by seven. Those are your lucky numbers, right?

Connor: My room was 23. Two and three add up to five, and… that’s bad.

Adam: You know what my favorite number is? 21.

Connor: Because of vegas.

Adam: Excuse me?

Connor: You like to gamble.

Adam: Who told you that?

Connor: Johnny overheard his mom and dad talking about it one day. That… you used to live in vegas and liked to play cards.

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Well, that– that was another lifetime ago. So, this retreat that dr. Alcott was suggesting, what do you think?

Connor: The hospital for crazy people.

Adam: Connor, that is not what this is. It’s a place where people that know about this kind of stuff, they can get you the help that you need. Wouldn’t that be a relief to not have to worry so much about this?

Connor: You said we didn’t have to decide yet.

Adam: Well, I said that we would talk about it. And that’s what we’re doing right now.

Connor: I don’t wanna go, dad. I’m scared.

Rsv is out there.

Adam: I get moving to a new place can be scary, but your mom and I, we could do everything we can to make it easier for you.

Connor: There’s nothing you can do, so there’s no point.

Adam: I’m sure that we could get the room numbers in advance. I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem.

Connor: I know where everything is here. I know where everything is at home. But there? I wouldn’t know where anything is. I’ll be alone.

Adam: How? Connor, you would make friends there.

Connor: I don’t have friends here. How would I have friends there?

Adam: It’s gonna be all right, okay?

Connor: Not if I have to go to that place.

Adam: Let’s just see how this all plays out. We’re just starting this whole process. And like you said, you know, no decisions have been made yet. Okay?

Kyle: I’m in total agreement. We find out what we can about claire and her past, and then we go from there.

Summer: Wouldn’t it be nice if she was perfect, though?

Kyle: Yeah. But something to consider is she may not even be interested in the job.

Summer: She did say that she wants to work with children, right?

Kyle: It doesn’t mean she wants to be a nanny. But I still think it’s worth a shot.

Summer: Okay. I’m gonna do some digging, see if I can come up with the parts of the story that victoria didn’t share with us, and we’ll go from there.

Jordan: So that’s why you’re here? You’re here for closure? There will never be any closure. And you better believe that I’m going to come haunt each of you every minute of every day and every night for the rest of your lives.

Victoria: She’s so dramatic.

Claire: She’s always been like that, but it’s a lot less effective than I remember.

Victoria: That’s interesting.

Jordan: Just stop it.

Nikki: You can rant and rave all you want. Your days of terrorizing our family are over.

Jordan: You tell yourself that when you’re all alone, pouring yourself a really tall glass of vodka. Oh! [ Chuckles ] You’re drunk right now, aren’t you? Of course you are. Because it’s the only way you could get yourself ginned up to confront me.

Nikki: I haven’t had a drop in days. You may have stolen my sobriety, but I’ve taken it back.

Victoria: Just like you stole my daughter, but now she’s home where she belongs.

Claire: And like you stole my life, but I’m getting it back with a family that loves me. It’s even better than I could have dreamed.

Jordan: You are all so stupid. Whining, strutting around, worrying about what I did to you, what you deserved. You think that will solve all your problems? Do you really think it’s that easy, nikki? Febreze!

Nikki: Remind me. Which one of us was stupid enough to get tricked into being locked in this basement?

Jordan: Time has given me clarity.

Victoria: Is she for real?

Jordan: You know, for years I have studied you. I’ve seen your arrogance and I predict nothing but tragedy and doom for you. And you! And you, you ungrateful little brat.

Claire: Don’t you dare speak to my daughter like that.

Jordan: Your daughter? Your bouncing baby daughter? Now all grown up and full of just so much hate. What do you think she might do next, huh? Maybe try to kill you again. Maybe this time with success.

Victoria: Well, that was all due to you. To your influence.

Jordan: Whatever you say. You know, I raised her. And I loved her. Do you trust her? Do you, victoria? Because you couldn’t really love her if you don’t trust her. That’s what a mother does.

Claire: You used me.

Jordan: You see how she loathes me? Is that what you want? You better watch out. Because who knows if she will turn on you.

Victoria: There’s nothing you can do or say that would make me doubt my daughter. She has all of my love and trust. Neither of which you understand at all.

Jordan: Well then, welcome her into your home. But I would sleep with one eye open.

Victoria: You’re a monster.

Jordan: No, no, no. I see the world for what it is. Every man, every woman. Just the way I raised claire. Eye on the prize, right, honey? She snowed all of you as nikki’s assistant. Competent, honest, beautiful. Who’s to say that she’s not scamming you right now as the long lost daughter? Until… snap.

Claire: I’ve changed. I’ve gotten help. I know what love and family are now.

Jordan: You understand nothing. How much heart do you have left, huh, victoria? How much heart? I mean, you couldn’t even hold on to a man, could you? Or a house. All you have left is all the newman’s grandeur and the newman name to keep you going.

Nikki: That’s enough out of you. Shut up, bitch.

[ Jordan laughing ]

Jordan: No, no, no, no. You shut up! ‘Cause I know what you really want. All you really want is to run out to a liquor store and find the best bottle of vodka you can find and guzzle it down so all of this will go away.

Nikki: I don’t think so, jordan. Because, you see, I have won. I’ve survived you. I’ve survived your attack on my sobriety. And now, to see you here like this, humiliated, exposing what a miserable human being you are, well, it’s just another reminder that I am much stronger without a drink.

Jordan: I wish you could’ve shared that joy with your poor sponsor, seth. He’s dead because of you.

Nikki: He’s dead because of you! Because you are a serial killer.

Victoria: It’s over. You’ve lost. You can never hurt us again.

Jordan: What a pretty picture.

Nikki: I hope that pretty picture torments you for the rest of your life, because the three of us are bound in love, in strength, something that you could never have any comprehension of. But at least you’ll have plenty of time to think about it, because you will be in prison forever.

Jordan: Oh. Oh, so victor’s not gonna keep me here and feed me spoiled food and the occasional rat?

Nikki: Lady, if I had my way, you’d never leave this hellhole, which quite literally was of your own making. So, I guess the next best thing is to know that you will slowly, oh, so slowly, rot away in your cell.

Jordan: Do you hear that, claire? All I did was do what had to be done. Avenge my sister’s humiliation with the newmans, with their crocodile tears. They can get away with anything with the newman name.

Claire: You’re sick, jordan.

Jordan: And what are you? You think you’re gonna fit right in here? You think that? You’re gonna be just like your new uncle adam. Another black sheep. Another outcast. Only, worse for you, because you’re half howard.

Claire: You can’t get to me anymore. I’m right where I wanna be, where I always belonged.

Jordan: You hateful little backstabber. I hope that selling out to these vipers makes you miserable with every last breath you take.

Victoria: Our family loves and accepts claire completely. She has the love and the home that you stole from her, but you’re just gonna die all alone.

Jordan: Maybe. Or maybe… someone else might die sooner rather than later.

Nikki: What is that?

Jordan: Something you’ve forgotten. That while you’ve been running off your mouth, I’m the one that’s still in charge.

Adam: Hey, you know what? We can go get some pizza. Get a few slices with extra pepperoni.

Connor: I’m not hungry.

Adam: Okay. Well, then… maybe we can hang here. Hmm? We can unpack the bag that I brought for you.

Connor: I told you, you’d do it wrong.

Adam: You could show me.

Connor: I don’t wanna be here.

Adam: What do you mean, you don’t wanna be “here”?

Connor: I hate it.

Adam: Hate what? You hate this room?

Connor: I hate this school. I don’t want to go to that place for crazies dr. Alcott wants to send me to.

Adam: Connor, she thinks that it could help you.

Connor: Maybe nothing can help me.

Adam: Connor, look at me. You’re not alone in this. You know that, right? Your mom and I, we just want what’s best for you. And maybe that’s the residential program. Maybe it’s something else. But whatever it is, we’re gonna be with you every step of the way.

Connor: Do you mean that?

Adam: Of course I mean that.

Connor: Then you won’t make me go to that place. I wanna go home. I’ll be good. I’ll do everything I’m supposed to. Please, dad. Can I come home?

Adam: Absolutely. Absolutely.

Chelsea: Connor is such a sensitive kid. He picks up on my every mood, even more so since my suicide attempt.

Alcott: That’s not unusual.

Chelsea: My actions have already caused him so much pain. I can’t be more of a burden to him. I can’t cause him any more suffering than I already have.

Alcott: It’s important for connor and for you and adam to understand there is no issue of blame involved here.

Chelsea: But how could my child be in so much pain and I didn’t notice? Why were we not more aware?

Alcott: There are probably a collection of reasons, including connor didn’t want you or anyone else to find out what he was going through. What’s important is that he’s getting treatment now, so there is no it’s too late in this scenario.

Chelsea: But what if…

Alcott: Go on.

Chelsea: For years, I acted out to avoid the voices in my head, until eventually, one day, they chased me onto a ledge. Connor says things like he hates himself. He says things like he doesn’t wanna be here, and that he has scary thoughts. And so he counts or he organizes things or he cleans things in order to make them go away. But what if it’s not enough? What if one day, those scary thoughts chase him onto a ledge before we’re able to get him treatment? For people who feel limited

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Chelsea: I’m sorry. I mean, you must think I’m so selfish. I’m not trying to make it about myself. I just, if my issues are at all responsible for what connor’s going through, I–

Alcott: No blame, remember? And what you see as a liability is actually a great asset.

Chelsea: What do you mean?

Alcott: You’ve struggled with mental health. You are especially sensitive to what connor’s needs are and will be. You understand there’s no quick fix, that it’s a process. You’re on the right path.

Chelsea: You really think this residential facility is the best step?

Alcott: The exposure and response prevention treatment is a critical step in helping connor habituate to the uncomfortable feelings that spark his ritualistic behaviors. It’s not an easy process, but it’s a path to managing the disorder. I suggest you make the decision as soon as possible.

Chelsea: Okay, I’ll talk to his father, and I’ll get back to you. Thank you for the talk and answering my questions and holding my hand.

Nick: Hey, you.

Summer: Hi, dad. Thanks for meeting with me.

Nick: Sure.

Summer: Is grandpa here?

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Summer: Grandpa.

Victor: There you are. Nice to see you. My goodness.

Summer: You too.

Nick: Did you make that call?

Victor: Yeah.

Nick: Did you get an update?

Victor: Things are being taken care of as we speak.

Nick: Everything’s all right?

Victor: Everything is fine. Please, sweetheart, have a seat. Right.

Summer: Well, I hope I didn’t drag you away from anything too important.

Victor: Not at all. You’re here. My granddaughter. That’s more important. There something you wanna talk about specifically?

Summer: Yeah. I guess I just had a few questions about claire. You see, kyle and I brought harrison to crimson lights earlier today, and we ran into aunt victoria, and claire was with her, and it– it’s just so wild. Everybody thought that she died after she was born, but she’s actually alive and well and living here.

Victor: I know.

Nick: Yeah, it is a hell of a story.

Summer: Thank you. Well, she seemed really great, and harrison adored her right off the bat. We had a nice conversation, but it did kind of seem like aunt victoria didn’t really wanna get into the details of claire’s past, where she’s been all this time. I guess I just wanted to ask, um, what should I know about my new cousin?

Nick: Claire’s backstory is complicated and ugly. Truth is, it’s not going to be as easy for some members of this family to completely welcome claire into this family.

Summer: What exactly went down with claire?

Victor: As part of our family, you need to know the unvarnished truth.

Summer: Claire really was a part in trying to kill all of you?

Victor: She was raised to hate us. And she was used by her aunt as a weapon against us. She’s as much a victim of her aunt as we have been.

Summer: What? That somehow excuses her? Why isn’t claire in prison?

Victor: Because, my lawyer, michael baldwin, saw to it that she be put into a mental institution.

Summer: I saw in the press that claire was in a hospital. That was a psychiatric ward?

Victor: Yeah.

Summer: I knew that aunt victoria wasn’t telling me the whole story, but this, I… I don’t even have any words.

Victor: I know, summer. This is a lot to absorb, okay? But I ask you to give claire the benefit of the doubt, considering all that she has been through.

Summer: What about what she put you through?

Victor: Oh, darling, that’s all in the past, okay? Now, we all need to welcome her into our family.

Summer: Dad? You haven’t said much.

Nick: It’s not as easy for me, given what happened at the lake house.

Summer: No kidding. You were drugged and stabbed.

Nick: It’s not just that. It’s the fact that claire is one of the reasons why mom’s sobriety is destroyed. Every time I look at mom and see her struggling and in pain, I cannot just forgive and forget what happened. Now, for victoria’s sake, I will be civil. I will be kind. I will give claire her chance to prove herself in this family. But it’s gonna take me some time to get over what she and jordan did to my mom.

Victor: I understand your father, summer. But this is on jordan. And trust me, she’s being dealt with… as we speak.

Jordan: As nikki so charmingly put it, this is a hellhole. I should know. I created it. And I am nothing if not thorough. Toxin? More lethal than the one I used at the lake house? You see, my original plan was to capture you and victor here and provide you with the ultimate way out together. But alas, on to plan B.

Nikki: You are beyond evil.

Jordan: I am so sick of your pompous yapping. You think that your money and your name puts you in charge.

Nikki: Oh, please. You are the one with delusions of grandeur, going around claiming that you’re righting wrongs when in reality, your life has been meaningless. I– I can just see it, when you get to prison, begging others to listen to your stories of how when you would stick it to the newman family. And you know what? They’re not gonna listen to you, because they won’t care. You will not be an avenging crusader. You’ll just be another inmate with a number.

[ Jordan laughing ]

Jordan: Nikki, are you really so stupid that you believe that future’s going to happen? That’s not going to happen, because, you see, this is not your ultimate way out. It’s mine. Ta-ta, claire. And you can all just go to hell.

Adam: What? Already?

Adam: Nice. Everyone up for a round of hot chocolate?

Connor: I wanna go up to the apartment.

Adam: What? Already? I mean, I think one of these delicious brownies is calling your name.

Connor: Mom might have changed something in my room. I’ll need to fix it.

Chelsea: No, I didn’t touch anything, sweetheart, I promise.

Connor: Still, I need to.

Chelsea: Oh, connor, can’t we just be together for a little bit?

Connor: We were just in the car together.

Chelsea: True. But, um, sweetie, we have some decisions we need to make. So, um, dr. Alcott highly recommends this erp residential program.

Adam: Hey, you know what? It has been a long day. And maybe we could talk about this later.

Connor: Yeah. I’m tired.

Chelsea: I’m sorry, connor, but we can’t just toss this aside. It’s too important and there are things that we have to handle. Honey, I know that you’re concerned about falling behind in your schoolwork, but we’ll make sure you keep up with the course work while you’re in treatment. Connor, I know this all feels very weird and very scary. The idea of going to a retreat probably freaks you out, but we’re gonna find the right place for you and I promise you’re gonna get better. How does that sound?

Connor: Dad says I don’t have to go if I don’t want to. And I don’T.

Kyle: Well, that took a while. What’d you find out about claire?

Summer: Well, my dad and grandpa had plenty to say. And it’s a good thing that we checked.

Kyle: Uh, okay. That doesn’t sound like good news.

Summer: Bottom line, it would be a colossal mistake for us to let claire look after harrison or be alone with him, ever.

Kyle: How did we get to colossal?

Summer: My cousin is emotionally and– and mentally unstable. Kyle, the things that she’s done, what she’s capable of, I– I can’t even believe that anyone would accept her into the family.

Jordan: No final words for me? The woman who loved you? Who made all these sacrifices for you? Oh…

Claire: What do– what do we do?

Victoria: Maybe we should help her.

Nikki: We didn’t even know there was poison here. We didn’t force her to take it. She swallowed it willingly.

Victoria: Yes, but she swallowed it to avoid justice. Is that what we want?

Claire: After everything jordan’s put us through, everything she’s taken from us, does she deserve to live or die?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Josslyn. What’s wrong? Oh, god. Is it dante? No. Oh. W– it’s dex. He’s not shot or anything. Oh, god. Okay. Hey, what do you need?

[ Voice breaking] I just need my mom. Oh, come here. You got me. You got me. You’re the one person who truly loves me who doesn’t hide parts of themselves from me. Baby, come on. What’s going on? What happened? Dax and I broke up. For good this time.

[ Sniffles ] Oh, come here.

[ Telephone rings ] Yeah. Uh, what? He’s here now. Me specifically? Oh, yeah. By all means, send him in. Thank you.

[ Knock on door ] Come in. Sonny: Hey, sweetheart. Thank you. The coffee at the hospital will kill you. What? You’ve been with dante all morning? Why didn’t you tell me, dad? I would have switched shifts and come to keep you company. Ava was with me. Oh. Good. Okay. So… no changes. Dante’s still on life support. And there’s no sign that he’s going to wake up.

[ Inhales deeply ]

[ Exhales sharply ] I got you, I got you. Unless you need me, I’m probably going to head out in a few minutes. Um, no, I think we’re good.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Oh. How many times does this make? This is chase’s fourth check on dante today, and he’ll be back later if he takes a dinner break. And if not, he’ll sneak in just before lights out. I wish there was something new we could tell him, tell all of them. Dante hasn’t been alone since he was admitted. His friends and family have been here around the clock. Really says a lot about how much he means to people. Yeah. Sure does. Yeah. Here’s this. Thanks. It’s been hard on everyone at the pcpd. Detective falconeri has a lot of fans down there. You need blood, the entire squadron would be here in half an hour. In fact, you can have mine now. Well, that’s good to know. Thank you. Um, question — who are you? Oh, sorry. John cates, fbi. I’m here investigating the shooting in port charles, and I overheard you talking about detective falconeri. Yes, well, you overheard correctly. Detective falconeri is stable, but he’s still unconscious. Oh, great. I’ll pass that on at the station. Uh, before I do, though, I was wondering if we might speak, nurse baldwin, I have a couple of questions. About what? Jason morgan.

You okay? Yeah. I’m good. Thank you. No problem. Your timing was good. I just got home from school. Is anybody gonna be looking for you? No, they’re used to me taking off early. When I was younger, I always used to love coming here because there’s so much room here compared to home. I remember. You — you do? Sure. You were always asking to stay at grandma monica’S. I have patients I have to check on, agent cates. What is it that you need to know? The bureau and the pcpd are still trying to locate jason morgan. See, we believe he’s responsible for shooting dante falconeri at the warehouse and subsequently jumping from a bridge to escape capture. Yes, I’ve seen the news. Of course you have. It’s probably impossible to avoid. But we have yet to locate a body. And I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what kind of damage a jump from that height would do. No, no, you don’T. And so far, you haven’t needed to tell me any of this. Bottom line, you have a child with jason morgan, and I know you two have a history, so I’m sure you can understand if I have to ask you if you’ve heard from jason since the shooting. Well, I haven’T. He hasn’t tried to contact you or anyone else in your family? No. Well, I had to ask. You never know where a person’s loyalties lie. Agent cates, a very good man is lying unconscious in the icu. If jason put him there, I think the only thing that matters is the law, not my loyalties. “If.” You’re still saying

if he’s responsible. Well, I haven’t heard that anything else has been proven yet. And until it is, I think everyone should be saying “if.” Better yet, “allegedly.” You’re right. So let me say this.

If you are lying and if you are harboring a fugitive,

you could be facing federal charges. You know, I just — I just thought high school was gonna be different, new campus, new people, but it’s all the same stuff — sitting around trying not to get caught looking at your phone. When I had a phone. Mom took it ’cause I’m grounded. And now school is more boring than ever. I would have hated every part of that. Yeah. Me too. I mean, there’s parts of me that wish dex lied and just denied everything that nina said. Wait a minute. How was nina involved? She was there. She watched it happen. Nina exposed a side of dex that I didn’t even know existed. And as much as I hate her for it, thank god she did. Now I know. And I still don’t understand how I could love him this much. Okay, it sounds really fresh right now. Maybe you’re gonna have to sit with this for a minute. He was the person that I loved and trusted almost more than anybody else, and he is not the person that I thought he was. All dex had to do was look at me, and I felt loved and safe and respected, and it’s all gone. I don’t even have the illusion of him to hold on to anymore. Josslyn, what happened? What did dex do? Dex was going to kill cyrus because sonny ordered him to. Alright, I’m gonna need you to take some time, and you’re gonna have to get some perspective on this, okay? No amount of perspective changes the fact that dex was going to kill him. Mom, this wasn’t war. This wasn’t self-defense. Cyrus was an old man lying in a hospital room. That is premeditated murder. You know what I keep thinking about? Do you remember that year on christmas eve when dante and I took our skis, we went up to the roof

[Laughing] And we took the skis back and forth like we were trying to make tracks, like — like santa’s sleigh for donna and the kids? Wasn’t that the year that dante twisted his ankle playing hockey? Well, kind of. I mean, that was the — that was the cover story we told you. But really… he slid right off carly’s roof and directly into a pine tree. He had so many pine needles in his hair. Dad, it was crazy. It was like there were thousands. And we — we were just trying to get them out. It took us forever because we couldn’t stop laughing so hard. But he did smell really good after that. Thank you for sharing that. Yeah. When he wakes up, don’t tell him I told you about the pine tree part. I’ll keep it a secret… when he wakes up. When he wakes up. Thank you for seeing me, commissioner. I know you have a lot going on. Oh, it’s alright. Is this to do with sonny? ‘Cause I-I know he’s so distraught about dante, so — it’s, um — it’s actually for me. I’d like to confess to an attempted murder. Of whom? Cyrus renault. You attempted to murder cyrus renault? Yes. On sonny’s orders.

You don’t have a phone, what else do you like to do? Skiing, and I snowboard, too, but I like skiing more. It’s — it’s faster, and the runs are more challenging. Alright, what do you like better, height or speed? Both. I’m, uh — I’m — I’m into dirt biking and mountain biking, too. And I’m gonna take auto shop as an elective next year. You know, fix up my own car someday, put a turbocharger on it. What about sports? You like any of them? Football. I was gonna go out for the freshman team, but my mom wouldn’t sign the stupid waiver ’cause she thought I was gonna get brain damage. Y-you had brain damage, right? Uh, yeah, n-not from playing football. I was in a car accident.

[ Door opens ] Danny. School’s been out for a while. You should probably get up to the house before they send out a search party to look for you. Thought of that. Said I had a lot of homework. What if someone decides to help you with it and finds out you’re not in your room? I guess you’re right. See you later. Yeah. Thanks again. No problem. What’s wrong? Dex was in an impossible situation. He was working for me and michael. He was working for sonny. And when sonny gave him the order to go after cyrus, dex didn’t have a lot of options. Dex could have gone to you and michael. He could have told you what sonny wanted. He could have done a lot of things. He could have gone to the police. Oh, come on. That’s not a realistic option, and you know it. Look, the choices that dex had to make, they may have been deal-breakers for you, but don’t be naive about why he made them. Okay, maybe he didn’t have a choice, but I had a choice, and I chose to be with him over and over again. And if I didn’t know what I know now, I would still be with him like some lovesick, blind idiot. Okay. Come on. I’m willing to bet that dex shared more with you than he has with anyone ever. I just never even considered that the sweet, amazing guy I love could kill someone while they’re helpless. How did I not see it? This isn’t a court-martial, dex. You can have a seat. So, walk me through this. Start at the beginning. Um… I was initially hired by michael corinthos to infiltrate sonny’s organization and gather information and evidence that could incriminate him. Michael hired you for this, did he? He felt that sonny’S… choices, um, caused unnecessary pain and risk to the family. So I’m assuming this is after the whole nixon falls/nina situation, yeah? Michael eventually reconsidered, but he — he — he decided that sending his father to prison would rip the family apart. So he changed the terms of my employment, and he brought his mother into the circle of trust. They, uh — they wanted me to monitor sonny and to give them any information if he were ever in any trouble. What kind of trouble? A situation that he couldn’t handle, he was in over his head. But other than that, I was, uh, supposed to continue working for sonny and follow his orders like any of his other personnel. Well… so, um, before carly and michael tasked you with being sonny’s guardian angel, did you ever get anything incriminating? I did. I had evidence that sonny was moving illegal arms for a company called pikeman. I know dante is technically not a kid, but he’s always gonna be my kid, and he’s got so much more to give to the world and his family. And he will. I can count on — on one hand all the good people in my life, and dante was one of them. Nobody would argue that. If I could be half as good as dante, I’d be very happy. You know, I’ve been through a lot in my life, and I’ve done a lot of things that I should have paid for. Not dante. I should be laying in that bed, not him. Alright, that’s it. Listen, dad, I know that you are sad and you’re scared, and — and those aren’t comfortable emotions for you. But I-I’m not gonna sit here and listen to you denigrate the dad I adore. Look, I know I wasn’t planned. It doesn’t matter whether you were planned. Your mom and i always wanted you. You know that. You just proved my point for me. You have always made me feel loved, always. I’m your dad. That’s my job. And you make it easy. Do I, though? The older I get, the more I reflect, and I realize that you are my anchor. As flighty as I might be, and we both know that’s true, you always keep me grounded. A-and there’s not a single thing I would change about you, imperfections and all. You are the best dad there is. And dante would be the first one to tell you that.

Okay. How are you feeling? I’m fine. Michael already warned me. You could be on fire and say, “I’m fine.” This is important, though. Okay? You lost a lot of blood. So you need to drink a lot of fluids. If you don’t, you could go into hypovolemic shock, and your organs could stop working. Okay. Got it. All done.

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Sighs ] I know you don’t want to be in this boathouse, but please, please, please don’t push yourself right now, okay? You will not make yourself stronger. You will just use up reserves that have already been severely depleted. And you will set your recovery way back. Okay. Take one now and one every eight hours for the next seven days. Don’t forget. It’s an antibiotic. Don’t miss a dose. Where’d you — don’t ask. You okay? Fine. You don’t seem like it. Michael would do anything for you, which is absolutely his right. And I’m okay risking myself. But involving danny is the worst thing you could have done. Okay, I didn’t — I didn’t seek danny out. He found me. Well, it won’t matter to that fbi agent cates, who’s turning over every rock in port charles looking for you. What do you think will happen if he gets proof that danny helped you? Elizabeth: Hey, there. I didn’t know you were coming by today. I tried a new chocolate chip cookie recipe I got off tiktok. And you need a taste tester? Yeah. Okay, well, not that I’m complaining, but why didn’t you ask jake? He won’t exactly talk to me. I’m a little worried about him. Why? What happened? You know how anytime our families get together, dante’s always the first one to get something fun going, like find a game to play that includes everyone? And he always makes you laugh but in a nice way. He never makes fun of anybody. Yeah, everyone loves him. Well, jake’s convinced, like 100% convinced, that his dad shot dante. When I tried to tell him we didn’t know for sure that jason did it, he slammed his bedroom door in my face. Mm. I had no idea. He hasn’t said anything to me about it. He’s not going to, either. He said he doesn’t want to talk to you about it. Why not? Doesn’t want you to defend jason. John: Daniel morgan? Yeah. Hi. John cates, fbi. I was hoping I could ask you a few questions about your dad. If you remember, sonny beat cyrus up pretty bad. Severe enough to put him in hospital. And then when the police questioned cyrus, he said sonny was responsible. Yeah, he couldn’t have been happy with that. No, so when cyrus said he would press charges, sonny decided that if cyrus were put down, any potential charges against him would go down, too. That’s a little shortsighted, don’t you think? Because if cyrus had died and his death was related in any way to the beating that sonny had inflicted on him, then he could have been found guilty of manslaughter or maybe even second-degree murder. That’s exactly what I tried to tell him. But sonny didn’t see it that way. He, uh — he ordered me to take out cyrus while he was still in the hospital. And I was prepared to do it. How? I was going to inject his picc line with fentanyl. But sonny showed up at the last second and stopped me. Do you know why he reconsidered? No. Okay, dex. You do understand that if you swear to this, you will incriminate yourself, as well as sonny. I do. But I did it. And I prepared to pay for it. I hope that I never disappoint you the way I disappointed your brothers. No matter what you’ve done or think you’ve done, michael and dante will always love you a lot. And so will I. There’s nothing that you could ever do that would make me truly disappointed in you. If there’s even a part of that that’s true, I’m a lucky man. Kristina?

honey, agent cates seems laser-focusedon finding you. He even tried to intimidate elizabeth baldwin by dangling the threat of federal charges in front of her. Elizabeth hasn’t done anything. But now danny has. Willow, I-I never wanted anybody to find me, let alone danny. I would never put him in jeopardy. I know you wouldn’T. I’m gonna make sure not one of you gets implicated, okay? Not michael, not you, not danny. All of you helping me, I’m just gonna make it like it never happened. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you. Yuri, I think his name is, he let me in. Yeah, yuri. He’s a — he’s a good guy. Yeah, he seems like it. Listen, I don’t want to keep you, but have you, by any chance, seen your father in the last couple days? No. You haven’t heard from him at all? Like no phone calls or texts or e-mails or… no. You’re sure? ‘Cause it’s really important that I find him. Yeah. I’m sure. See, it’s just that he’s been gone a long time, and now all of a sudden, he’s back, and all you get is radio silence? I mean, you’re his son. Don’t you think that’s weird? Not really.

[ Scoffs ] It’s not like I knew the guy before he was gone. Look, I don’t know why he’s back, but I can tell you it’s not because of me. Brook lynn: Danny, go. Somewhere else. I need to have a word with agent cates. You are a disgrace to your badge. No matter what I say or do, jake gets mad. Okay, he’s not mad at you. He’s mad at the situation. And he doesn’t know what to do with his anger. So it — it just comes out all sideways at you and everyone else he loves. Mostly me. I know, I know, and I’m sorry. And I know it doesn’t feel like it, but it’s — it’s not personal, okay? I promise I will talk to him when I get home. Good luck. Just so you know, we did talk about it when we first found out that jason was back and that he might be responsible for dante’s shooting. I j– I — guess it should have been a bigger conversation. I just didn’t want to make things harder on him. It’s hard already for everyone. Chase: Elizabeth. Aiden. Um, do you have a second? Yeah, sure. Chase. Do you think jake’s dad shot dante? I wish I would have never pressured dex into staying with sonny. Well, dex didn’t put up much of a fight. Baby, that’s because your mother and your brother were pressuring him. Maybe. I don’t know. I don’t know what to believe. I know how things work in sonny’s business. Trust is everything. I never thought he would trust dex enough to give him an assignment like cyrus. Did jason used to kill for sonny? I’m sorry if I’m interrupting. No. Uh…

[ Clears throat ] Dad, this is natalia ramirez, allie’s mom. Oh. Natalia, this is my father, sonny corinthos. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. My daughter talks a lot about your daughter. I’m glad that they found each other. Yes, well, that’s why I’m here. To ask for your help.

Jason never talked about it. But he — he did some things for sonny, yeah. Did some things, like… killed people things? What do you want to hear, josslyn? I want to hear that killing people because they’re inconvenient for sonny is wrong. Of course it’s wrong. Then why are you hesitant? I’m not. I don’t — I don’t want you asking questions that you don’t want to know the answers to. I do want the answers. I’m just not always ready for the ones that I get. That’s because you’re judging everything from the outside. You know, you weren’t in dex’s shoes, and you weren’t in jason’s shoes, for that matter. You don’t know why they made the choices they did. I love jason, too. Okay? But come on. All it takes is sonny pointing at someone and saying, “go,” and that’s it? It’s not that simple. No, it’s never that simple. I trust jason. If jason killed someone, it’s because they were gonna kill him. I don’t think so. I don’t think that it would matter to you if someone was trying to kill jason or not. I think that you would stick beside him no matter what. And I thought that that’s how I felt about dex. But it’s not. So… when I walked into my daughter’s hotel room and found you in her bed… I was shocked. Well, anybody that would walk into their, you know, kid’s hotel room and find somebody in their bed would be shocked. I understand that you were blindsided. But even more so when she told me that you were her girlfriend. Yeah, that was a big step for her and for us, to be open about dating. Well, I-I wasn’t ready for it. And — and obviously, no matter what I said or what I did, it was wrong. And I — and I even knew that at the time, but I-I couldn’t — I couldn’t stop myself. Well, now you know better. You’re gonna do better next time. Yeah, but alison and i already had a next time, and, um… and I, uh — I did not do better. You — you seem to be having a hard time with this. Yeah, wouldn’t every parent? Well, you only worry if — if your kid ends up with somebody that’s not good enough for them. But blaze and kristina are great, and they’re great for each other. Thanks, dad. I think we’re pretty good for each other, too. Was it always this easy for you? Was what this easy? Having a daughter that’s gay and being okay with it. Jason is only a suspect right now. He’s no different than anybody else. He’s innocent until proven guilty. You have to say that. But you’re a cop. Asking you isn’t the same as asking a regular person. Aiden, I — no, it’s okay. I know what he means. My job as a cop is to follow the evidence. And right now the evidence says yes, jason is the one who shot dante. But the evidence also says that he’s the one who called 911, and he tried to give dante first aid. Brook lynn: Thank god yuri called me before you had the chance to whip out your handcuffs. That really would have intimidated danny, which is exactly what you were hoping to do, isn’t it? No. I just wanted to ask him a few questions. I’m sorry if yuri disturbed you. You disturb me. Your unprofessional conduct disturbs me. Yuri told me how you barged in here to — to talk to a poor minor child without his parent or guardian present. Well, you can tell yuri that is not illegal. No, it’s just lower than dirt. And I don’t need to school yuri on state or federal law. He’s familiar with them both. You made the wrong assumption and confused his accent for ignorance. I didn’t mean anything by the comment. Yeah, you did. And at the moment, the only truly ignorant person in this house is you. Look, I’m sorry if we got off on the wrong foot. Just to be clear, I didn’t come here to arrest danny, and I didn’t know he was gonna be alone. Didn’t stop you, though, did it, from talking to a minor child about a father who he hasn’t seen in years, a father he thought was dead. What’s wrong with you? Jason morgan is a suspect in multiple shootings. But you’re right. I went too far. You know what? You should just stop talking and leave before you give me any more reasons to sue. And trust me, I’ve got plenty. And if it were up to me, you’d lose your impressive fbi badge. But since it’s not, I will just have to make sure you got to work real hard to keep it. I am sorry. Truly. If you would, please apologize to danny and yuri on my behalf. It’s okay, danny. You can come out now. Do you have any proof of this attempt on cyrus’s life? No, but, um, cyrus was rightly suspicious when he woke up and I was in his room, so he could be a witness. And — and nina reeves also saw me, and she — no, she’s not gonna testify. Cyrus might be willing to, but then he couldn’t truthfully testify about your intention. So his testimony wouldn’t amount to anything. The most we could get would be conspiracy. And then it would be your word against sonny’S. That’s it? No. Sonny would also have you killed. Dex, this isn’t the first time a situation like this has come up, and I know from experience that I wish I didn’t have… prosecution will go nowhere, and it will cost you your life. I’m willing to risk it. No. I’m not. That is why… this conversation never happened. Look at me. Do you understand? Yeah. Okay. Justice may not have been served this time, but I really appreciate you coming in and trying. Commissioner. If you ever need any help taking sonny down… keep me in mind.

You were awesome. Thank you. You don’t need to thank me, okay? You just need to promise me that you are never gonna talk to the cops again without a lawyer present. Prison is full of people who talk their way in there because they didn’t wait for their lawyer. Grandma alexis isn’t a lawyer anymore. So should I call diane miller? You’re a quartermaine. You got plenty of lawyers. But they’re no good to you unless you use them. So give me your phone. I don’t have a phone, remember? My mom confiscated it. Then I’m gonna have to do something really old-fashioned. Okay. Gonna have to write down the elq attorney’s number. Okay? Here. Take this. Commit it to memory. And do yourself a favor and practice the quartermaine code. Okay, that means be polite, but do not freestyle with the cops, no matter how friendly they seem. Unless, of course, that cop is chase. Well, with any luck, you’ll be able to move around in a day or two. Any idea where you’ll go and what you’ll do? Not sure yet. I just got to figure out what will cause the least harm to all of you. Especially danny. What are you gonna tell jake? The truth. If jason did this, he’s gonna have to face the consequences. This is not a reflection on jake. Jake will just say, “I know.” Trust me, it’s not gonna make him feel any better. This — this situation, I-it’s — it’s terrible. And I think — I think feeling sad is the right way to feel about it. And I know that jake feels awful about what happened to dante. But it’s not his fault just because he’s jason’s son. If jason did, in fact, shoot dante, then he alone is gonna have to carry that guilt. I am not gonna let the weight of jason’s sins crush jake. I respect your decision. You looked at dex with clear eyes, and you saw things you weren’t willing to compromise on. I just never thought that there was anything that would make me not want to be with him. Baby, unless you’re talking about your kids, there’s no such thing as unconditional love. There’s always conditions. And you found yours. Yeah, I guess. I don’t know. Maybe I could have made it work, though. Maybe. And then you would have sacrificed a part of yourself. And then you would have hated yourself, and then you would have resented dex and hated him. So, I mean, as far as I’m concerned, you spared both of you a lot of misery. Yeah. In my gut, it was the right thing to do. Yeah. But even doing the right thing isn’t always easy. Kristina’s always been her own person. Ever since she could talk, she had an opinion, and it was amazing to me how, you know, she was so young, she was so intelligent and interesting. And then when she grew up, I could see pieces of her mother and me in her, and I kind of had an idea what she was gonna be like. Now, there were a couple things that I was right on. We all want certain things for our kids, but we can’t make them be what we want them to be. It’s their life. They have to make their decision to become who they want to be. You’re very fortunate to have this man as your dad. I know. I’ve always known that my dad loves me no matter what. And it’s always made me feel really safe, like I could do anything. And I really wish that allie had that with you.

[ Sighs ]

[ Knock on door ] I owe you a drink.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

At home, Eric tells Sloan that he thinks he got Jude to sleep. Sloan comments that he said that 10 minutes ago. Eric responds that if he wakes up again, he’ll take him over to John and Marlena’s and put Brady to work as the Godfather. Sloan thought he hadn’t asked Brady to be Godfather yet. Eric confirms he hasn’t, but thinks now might be a good time to do so. Sloan knows how tradition is so important to the Bradys, so she asks what Eric thinks about moving the Christening reception back to the Brady Pub where it was originally to be held. Eric says they already talked about this but Sloan says she had time to think and worried that Roman might feel slighted if he’s not able to give his grandson the reception. Eric points out that Nicole is really excited about hosting it at the DiMera Mansion. Eric assures that Roman will understand. Sloan questions if he won’t be hurt. Eric asks if this is about keeping the celebration in the family or keeping Nicole out of it?

John goes home and tells Steve and Marlena that he can’t believe that Steve told Marlena that he killed Konstantin’s daughter. John questions Steve knowing all these years, but when he asked him, he lied to his face and went behind his back to tell his wife. John asks Steve if he was ever going to tell him.

Harris goes to see Ava, who questions him not following bed rest and asks where he was as he had her worried. Harris responds that he just had some things to take care of.

Stefan emerges from the tunnels of the DiMera Mansion to the living room and asks EJ what’s going on. EJ informs him that Harris was just there asking for him. Stefan asks what he said. EJ says since Stefan failed to neutralize Clyde, who just escaped from prison, he safely infers that Stefan is no longer of any use to Harris. EJ adds that Harris also told him that Stefan shot him in cold blood and he demanded justice be served for his attempted murder. Stefan asks if EJ is still going to help him out, reminding him that they made a deal. EJ tells him not to worry since he can’t wait to get rid of him, so he is going to help him. EJ declares that tonight will be Stefan’s last night as a DiMera and tells him to make the most of it. EJ hands Stefan a drink and toasts to that, calling it exciting.

Sloan argues that Eric already knows how she feels about Nicole and doesn’t understand why Eric told Nicole that she could throw the Christening party for a child she stole. Eric argues that Nicole was out of her mind and has apologized which they accepted. Eric adds that Holly is like a daughter to him and thinks of Jude as a brother, so he thinks it’s important for her to feel like a part of this. Sloan questions if this is about Holly or Nicole. They are interrupted by a knock at the door as Brady arrives. Brady hopes he’s not interrupting. Sloan says she was just leaving, tells Eric to have a good night and storms out.

John calls it ironic that after all these years, Konstantin of all people is the one who finally told him the truth. Marlena explains that Steve was afraid how John would react to the truth. John states that he took the life of an innocent young woman and asks how he’s supposed to react to that. Steve argues that it might not be the whole truth as Konstantin doesn’t know any more than they do. John argues that this woman was a real person and somebody’s daughter, but he killed her.

Ava asks Harris what he had to take care of and if everything is alright. Harris asks when she last saw or spoke with Stefan. Ava says she doesn’t know as she’s been so focused on Tripp. Ava guesses it was a few days ago when Harris woke up at the hospital and asks why. Harris says he wanted to have a chat with him about Clyde, but Stefan is nowhere to be found.

EJ informs Stefan that he is all set to depart and he has arranged him a flight tomorrow morning with a new passport, so he will assume his new identity and be on his way. Stefan didn’t think it would move so fast. EJ reminds him that Clyde wanted him to off Harris while Harris wanted him to take out Clyde and since he failed both, his only options are prison, death, or North Korea. Stefan asks if that’s a joke. EJ says he’s dead serious as he told Stefan that he would get him to a country that doesn’t have a treaty with the US, he just didn’t say which one. Stefan calls that nuts and argues that EJ said he would help him, not send him to a warzone. EJ asks if he would prefer Afghanistan or Siberia.

Ava tells Harris that it is odd that she hasn’t heard from Stefan and asks if Harris thinks he had something to do with Clyde’s escape. Harris talks about Clyde putting the screws to Stefan by threatening Gabi and that Stefan is crazy about her. Harris thinks Ava might even be surprised by the lengths Stefan would go to protect Gabi.

Stefan argues with EJ that this is not what they agreed to. EJ disagrees. Stefan asks how he’s supposed to navigate these places when he doesn’t speak Russian or Korean. Stefan complains that he lost four years of his life thanks to EJ. EJ says if Stefan doesn’t want to be sent to a safer location, he’s free to do that. Stefan argues that he’s trusting EJ with his life. EJ remarks that Stefano always said starting over builds character.

Sloan walks through the town square and finds Leo passed out at a table, so she wakes him up. Sloan asks if he partied too hard on St. Patrick’s Day. Leo complains about her talking too loud and her perfume. Leo thinks Roman was trying to do him in last night with whiskey and green beer. Sloan suggests he not go drinking on her dime. Leo responds that it’s his dime now and suggests she show more consideration for someone feeling weakness. Leo adds that if Sloan did less drinking herself, his weekly allowance wouldn’t be due so quickly.

Brady asks Eric if he’s sure it’s a good time since Sloan didn’t seem too thrilled. Eric says she’s just exhausted as it took awhile to get Jude down and he didn’t sleep well last night. Eric talks about the Christening being the day after tomorrow. Brady assures that he wouldn’t miss it. Eric then asks Brady to do them the honor of being Jude’s Godfather. Brady says he’s honored to be asked but says no, he can’t do that.

Marlena tells John not to torture himself, insisting that he’s a wonderful man. John calls himself a killing machine and declares that he can’t live with himself anymore. John announces he’s going to turn himself in to the authorities.

Ava asks Harris why Stefan would help Clyde when he despises him. Harris repeats that he’s crazy about his wife. Harris suggests Ava reach out to Stefan. Ava says she has called and texted but he never responded. Ava tells Harris that he can’t be running all over town like an action hero. Ava decides she’s taking Harris to bed, no arguments.

EJ suggests Stefan take only a few changes of clothes and a toothbrush but nothing more. Stefan jokes about packing all his belongings. Stefan says he would at least like to say goodbye to his wife before he goes. EJ says sure if he would like to say goodbye to his life as well. EJ reminds Stefan of the power Clyde’s network wields at prison and warns that he’ll be taken out if he steps foot there. EJ tells Stefan that he’ll gladly put the knife through Gabi’s heart on his behalf. Stefan calls him a sadistic son of a bitch. EJ warns him about the name calling since Stefan’s life is in his hands. Stefan asks what he will tell Gabi. EJ says he will tell her that Stefan went to start his happily ever after without her and he’s sure she will do the same at her earliest opportunity, unless she already has. Stefan asks EJ to tell Gabi that he loves her. Stefan says he doesn’t care about anything else but that. EJ says no and then tells Stefan that a car will meet him at the end of the tunnel before dawn. EJ hopes Stefan isn’t claustrophobic, because it’s safest for him to ride in the trunk.

Sloan gives Leo a check and remarks that she knows how to stick to a budget. Leo remarks that he was in the red because of a suit he bought for Jude’s Christening. Leo says he and Jude have a very special connection since he brought him in to the world. Sloan demands Leo return that suit because he’s not coming to Jude’s Christening.

Eric questions Brady turning down being Jude’s Godfather. Brady says it’s an honor to be asked but he doesn’t think he should be involved with any titles that have the word father in them because he screwed up with his own kids. Eric asks what he’s talking about as he calls him a great father. Brady questions that, pointing out that he has his son in a halfway house and a daughter that doesn’t care if she sees him because he hardly ever sees her. Eric argues that’s only because of Kristen messing with Rachel’s head. Brady says Kristen was only able to do that because he messed up and made mistakes. Brady then informs Eric about Tate breaking out of the halfway house and in to the DiMera Mansion to see Holly, leading to EJ slapping a restraining order against him. Brady knows Tate is in love and feels he would probably do the same thing at his age because it’s genetic. Brady declares that history has shown that if there’s a mistake to be made, he’s going to make it and his kids are just taking after their father.

Marlena questions what John will say when he turns himself in. Steve argues that they are talking about something that happened decades ago, that John doesn’t remember and no one actually saw. John complains that he tried to convince himself that he was one of the good guys. John says he knew Yo Ling tried to create him in his own image when he trained him to be an assassin. John adds that if he killed people as The Pawn, he told himself that they were probably the bad guys anyway but taking the life of an innocent girl proves that he’s no better than Yo Ling was and he’s a monster just like he was.

Stefan tells EJ that he can’t do this and there’s got to be another way. Stefan argues that EJ could offer him a deal. EJ questions letting him off for attempted murder when there’s plenty of evidence against him and says he would lose his job. Stefan complains that EJ is taking over the DiMera empire and questions why the hell he would want a government job anyway. EJ declares that amassing power is the DiMera’s raison d’etre and Stefan knows that better than he does. EJ adds that Stefan threw that all away when he shot a cop. Stefan blames EJ not helping him when he asked. EJ argues that Stefan makes one calamitous decision after another including one that almost cost his stepdaughter her life, so he should be grateful that he’s even helping him. Stefan shouts that EJ is only helping himself to everything that is rightfully his. EJ reminds Stefan that this was his own idea. Stefan points at the portrait of Stefano and remarks that he’s sure he’d be flipping in his grave right now, mortified that one of his sons could betray another. EJ calls Stefan so wrong because they both know that if Stefano was mortified by this current turn of events, it would be because one of his sons has proven himself to be an absolute failure and complete embarassment of the DiMera name. EJ declares that Stefano would be so proud of him for making sure that stain is banished.

Ava feels Harris and worries about a possible fever if he’s overdoing it but Harris assures that he’s fine and jokes that he’s just hot for her.

Leo tells Sloan that he is going to Jude’s Christening because Eric invited him and since he delivered the baby, he has a special place in his heart. Leo thinks it’s reasonable for him to want to be there. Sloan question why he wants to be there so bad. Leo says he just explained it and repeats that he and Jude have a special connection. Leo calls himself Jude’s fairy godmother. Sloan bets Jude’s real Godfather will have something to say about that.

Eric tries to convince Brady and asks if he wants Leo Stark to be Jude’s Godfather which Brady questions. Eric calls it a long story that he doesn’t fully understand, but Leo pretty much appointed himself to the job. Brady calls that creepy but insists that Eric will find another willing candidate besides him. Eric argues that he doesn’t want anyone else. Eric says Brady is his brother and he loves him. Eric knows Brady would do anything for his kids. Eric asks Brady again to do him the honor of being Jude’s Godfather. Brady decides that he knows Eric won’t back down from this so he agrees to do it. Eric thanks him as they hug.

Marlena tells John that she knows all too well the guilt that she felt for doing unthinkable and unspeakable things. Marlena knows how difficult it was to forgive herself even though what was done was out of her own control. Marlena adds that what helped her was John’s kindness, support, and empathy which is what he needs now. Marlena says the man John is today would never do anything like that but John tells her that she’s wrong as he reveals that just last week, he helped Clyde Weston break out of prison. Steve explains that they had no choice as it was either help Clyde escape or let Tripp and Wendy die. Steve adds that they had no intention of just letting Clyde go and if they hadn’t put their trust in Ava, Clyde wouldn’t be running free. John tells Marlena that he’s sorry that he had to burden her with more knowledge about what he did. Marlena says she’s relieved to know what they have been through. John adds that if anyone else gets killed with Clyde out there, that’s on him too. John feels he at least needs to go apologize to Konstantin for everything including the accusations. Steve argues that it’s true that Konstantin is trying to fleece Maggie but John declares that Konstantin is a grieving father and he’s the reason for that. John states that if anyone did that to his daughter Belle, he would hunt them down and kill them.

Brady tells Eric that Sloan thinks Tate should plead guilty because there’s no way to prove that the drugs were Holly’s unless she admits it. Eric asks if Brady thinks Holly knows more than what she’s saying. Brady mentions talking to Sarah about memory loss in coma patients but Tate told him that Holly was using drugs for weeks before she overdosed and says she’s got to remember that. Brady feels that unless Holly comes clean, everyone’s going to believe Tate pushed the drugs on Holly and he will keep paying for a crime he didn’t commit.

Leo questions Sloan as to who Jude’s Godfather is. Sloan informs him that Eric is asking Brady tonight. Leo argues that Brady hasn’t accepted yet and that Eric must be procrastinating by waiting until the last minute. Sloan argues that it was all up to their schedules. Leo says he’ll make sure Jude’s picture ends up in the Spectator but Sloan refuses to let him use Jude as an attempt to humanize himself. Leo reminds Sloan that if it wasn’t for him, Jude wouldn’t be in her life. Leo brings up Melinda being the Godmother while he gets nothing. Sloan says that’s because Melinda didn’t try to blackmail her. Leo insists upon having a special connection with Jude. Leo asks if it’s so hard to believe that he actually cares about the kid and assures that he does because he’s been a part of his life since he was born. Leo doesn’t think it’s too much to ask to have a ringside seat to one of the most important moments of Jude’s life.

Ava and Harris kiss. Ava jokes that she’s pretty sure this is not what the doctor meant by bed rest but Harris says it’s exactly what the doctor ordered as they continue kissing.

Stefan tells EJ that they never discussed specifics as far as living arrangements and expenses. EJ says he’s sure he’ll figure it out. Stefan decides it doesn’t matter since he’ll be miserable where ever he is without Gabi which EJ mocks. EJ says if it’s any comfort to him, if Gabi ever gets out of prison, he will let her know where Stefan is so they can wallow together in misery. EJ suggests Stefan get back in to the tunnels before anybody sees him.

Sloan tells Leo that it is too much to ask and warns him about showing up uninvited. Leo threatens that if she throws him out, he’ll have to announce to all in attendance that Sloan stole Jude from Nicole. Leo tells Sloan he will see her at the Christening and walks away.

Eric knows Brady wants to believe Tate and he does too, but maybe Holly isn’t lying and is just confused. Brady knows Eric loves Holly and he does too. Brady understands Holly doesn’t want her parents to think she’s using but she’s putting that ahead of his son’s freedom. Brady asks what Eric is thinking. Eric informs him that he talked to Holly the other day and felt like she might be hiding something but he didn’t want to push too hard. Eric promises to talk to her again. Brady says he’d be grateful for anything he could do. Eric declares it’s all about family and he knows Brady would do the same for Jude.

Steve tells John that he’s so sorry for not telling him about what happened in Aria with Konstantin and his daughter, but he blocked it out himself for a long time. Steve repeats that he didn’t know how John would react. John thinks Steve knew exactly how he would react. Marlena decides no more talk about John turning himself in until he’s had time to really think about it. Marlena tells John not to forget that she loves him.

Ava and Harris lay in bed together. Ava asks if he’s sure this is what the doctor ordered. Harris jokes that he might need a refill of this prescription as they kiss. They say they missed each other. Ava then thinks back to when she had sex with Stefan. Harris declares that Stefan is not going anywhere, leaving Ava confused in between them.

Adam: Okay, well, I have a better idea. How about you tell us what’s going on? There’s probably a lot going on in your head right now, and it can be stressful, but your mom and I, we’re ready to listen. So whatever you wanna say.

Connor: I hate this. I hate the doctor. I hate being here. I hate myself.

Chelsea: Connor, don’t say that. It hurts my heart to hear you talk that way about yourself. Don’t you know you are the most lovable boy on this earth?

Adam: To mom and to me. You’re upset and we totally understand, but you don’t mean what you said, right? That you hate yourself? We say things sometimes when we’re angry and we’re frustrated. Connor, believe me. I know how you feel. There have been a lot of times in my life where I’m angry and I’m frustrated because things aren’t the way that I want them to be, and there’s nothing that I can do about it. Everything is just out of my control. But things got better for me, and they’re gonna get better for you, too. Look, I understand why you don’t wanna be here. It feels weird coming to a stranger for help about this thing that we just learned about just a little while ago. But this is gonna help you. It’s gonna help all of us, and we’re gonna get through it together. Your mom and I, we’re gonna do anything, and we’re gonna do everything to give you the best life.

Billy: Yeah, no, the numbers just came in. I’ll take a look at them as soon as I get back to the office. Okay, great. Um, I, uh… yeah. Yeah, no, that works. Um, listen, I’m gonna take off here soon, so I’ll let you know if I have any questions or updates, all right? Okay, thanks. Ashley. Hi.

Ashley: Hey, bro. What’s up?

Billy: Hey, sis. Everything okay?

Victor: Well, jordan thought she had me right where she wanted me. Overconfident as always.

Nikki: But you turned the tables on her.

Victor: Yeah, but to be honest with you, I couldn’t have done it without nicholas. His help was invaluable. You should’ve seen the look of horror on that woman’s face when she realized she had been had. I love it.

Nikki: I’m just so glad this is over and nobody was hurt. I mean, when I think of the risk you took, you realize this could have turned out very differently.

Victor: I’m protecting my family. Obviously I’m gonna take a risk. No big deal. Worked out. Here I am. And she can no longer hurt us.

Nikki: And I am so grateful for that. She is the devil, and now she is suffering in a hell of her own making. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.

Victoria: It’s been very exciting for claire to meet her relatives.

Summer: That’s amazing. I can’t believe that grandpa and granddad haven’t at least had a family dinner yet.

Victoria: Uh, well, things have been a little hectic.

Kyle: That’s to be expected when you get your own personal miracle.

Victoria: I’m just grateful for every minute that I get to spend with my daughter. The ball is out and there’s a pile-up.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Summer: Well, I’ve been so looking forward to meeting you, but I got to admit, I feel kind of out of the loop. I mean, I have no idea how all of this happened.

Victoria: It’s complicated.

Claire: Yeah.

Victoria: Well, we’ve been waiting to share the details for when we were ready. Years ago, after cole and I… well, we thought we lost our daughter after she was born, but as it turns out, we were deceived by someone intentionally. And claire was alive all of these years.

Summer: And you had no idea that someone…

Victoria: No, none. If we had known that things were not as they seemed, we would’ve never stopped looking for her. But lucky for us, claire was determined to find her parents, and after years of looking and research, she found us. So, we did a dna test, and needless to say, it was a match. I mean, it’s taken a little while for us to acclimate to all of this, but now we get to move forward as a family.

Kyle: So, the person who did this is still–

Victoria: That person does not deserve any more of our attention.

Kyle: Fair enough. The story I recently read said you were released from the hospital. You’re okay, aren’t you?

Claire: Yeah, I’m fine now, thank you. Um, it’s just been a lot to process. Your family has been so–

Victoria: Our family.

Claire: Our family has been so supportive.

Summer: Wow. I mean, this is just so incredible, and I’m really happy for you both, but why do I get the feeling that there’s more to the story that you aren’t telling us?

Victoria: Well, there are some specifics that we should probably save for another time.

Harrison: Why’d everybody stop talking?

Claire: Hey, harrison, how many marshmallows do you have?

Harrison: One, two, three, four. I have four.

Claire: You got four? I only got two. That’s not fair. I love marshmallows. Hey, I got cheated. What’s up with that?

Nikki: I can only imagine how desperate and frightened jordan must feel. Locked up in a room, cut off from the rest of the world.

Victor: You got that right.

Nikki: What am I saying? I don’t have to imagine it. I know exactly how she feels. I lived it, thanks to her. And now she’s living it, thanks to you.

Victor: You know… it’s absolutely amazing how sick that woman is. She has no– no problem imprisoning and torturing people that she considers enemies.

Nikki: I can only hope that she is feeling every bit of the terror that I did when I was her prisoner.

Victor: This is poetic justice, considering what that woman has done to our family, and especially to you.

Nikki: Prison is too good for her.

Victor: Much too good.

Nikki: Well, that is still your plan, right?

Victor: Oh, yeah. She’s gonna pay for what she’s done. She’s really gonna pay for it.

Nikki: Well, I certainly hope so. But before the authorities arrest her, I need to see her.

Victor: That’s ridiculous.

Nikki: I want to confront her for the last time, face to face.

Chelsea: Hey, connor, I pulled up some highlights from that soccer match we were talking about. You wanna see? He was like this since before we got here. Quiet, nervous. I did everything I could to calm him down, tell him everything was gonna be okay, that these sessions with dr. Alcott will help him learn to control things. But he doesn’t wanna listen to anything I have to say.

Connor: I can hear you, you know.

Adam: Yeah, well, that’s fine. We’re not trying to hide anything from you. All we’re trying to do is to help figure out what’s going on with you.

Connor: Why don’t you ask me? I can tell you. We just get out of here. That would help. Can we please just do that? Can we go now?

Chelsea: Connor, I’m sorry, but this is too important. I thought you felt safe here. That’s what you told billy last time. I mean, that’s a good thing, isn’t it?

Connor: All she’s gonna do is talk. She’ll ask me more questions, but it’s not like it’ll help.

Chelsea: It might feel like that right now, but these things just take time.

Connor: How much time? Because all I know is that I hate this.

Adam: I mean, he has a point. I mean, maybe we should listen to our son. Would it be that horrible if we canceled today’s session? I mean, if he’s not in the mood to talk to anybody, we’re gonna be wasting everyone’s time.

Chelsea: Adam, no.

Adam: Look, the kid deserves to feel like he has some control over his life. I mean, we could go see a movie or something, and we can pick this up tomorrow.

Chelsea: What kind of precedent would that set? No. Adam, connor needs this. We all do. Right now, not later, not when he feels like it, not when you feel like it.

Adam: Okay, this isn’t about me.

Chelsea: That’s exactly right. This isn’t about you.

Alcott: Chelsea, adam, connor, good to see you. We ready?

Connor: Mom, dad, please. Please.

Chelsea: Connor, I’m sorry, but this is too important, okay? We’re here. The doctor is ready to see us. It’s all part of the plan, so we can help you get better, even if it doesn’t feel like it right this second.

Adam: I’m with mom on this. We can go see a movie after, okay?

Connor: Okay.

Adam: And I will be joining the session today because I think this situation needs both parents there.

Ashley: Everything’s good. Why wouldn’t it be?

Billy: I mean, I don’t know. You’ve hit a few rough spots lately. I’m your brother. I’m concerned about you.

Ashley: Yeah. No. That’s sweet, but, you know, I have everything under control.

Billy: Okay. So, does that mean tucker is fully and completely out of your system?

Ashley: He’s such a jerk, isn’t he? I’m so totally over him. So is… everything good. It’s all good. It’s all– it’s all good.

Billy: No, please, finish. You were gonna finish that sentence. And so is who? Alice loves the scent of gain so much,

she wished there was a way to

make it last longer.

Ashley: I’m saying that I am over tucker. I mean, he’s gross, isn’t he? So the family’s over him, and you’re over tucker, right? I mean, because if you’re not, you should be, right? I mean, good riddance.

Billy: Yeah, no, I’m– I’m over tucker. The family’s been over tucker for a very long time. He’s nothing but trouble and lies. But I know that it’s been a little bit more challenging for you to move on. Maybe you… maybe you have a handle on that now.

Ashley: Mm-hmm. It wasn’t easy. I did it. I did it.

Billy: Ash, what’s going on? You… you don’t really sound like yourself.

Alcott: So, how are you feeling today, connor?

Connor: Fine.

Alcott: How do you feel about what we talked about last time, getting a name for what you’re going through? Does it help you understand what’s happening?

Connor: I don’t wanna talk about it. I don’t even wanna be here.

Chelsea: Connor, why don’t you tell dr. Alcott what you said in the waiting room?

Adam: Yeah, connor, you can talk to the doctor about your feelings.

Connor: What’s the point?

Adam: Because the doctor knows things that we don’t about how to deal with the emotions, like what you were saying about yourself.

Chelsea: And that you wanted to leave instead of have your session? Don’t worry. I’m sure she won’t be offended. Connor, we all know that this is hard. Can you just stop doing that for a second and focus on the conversation, please?

Connor: You just don’t get it, do you? None of you understand.

Alcott: Chelsea, let me caution you not to look at connor’s preoccupation with his hoodie strings as something that he’s doing, but something that manifests because of the ocd. It’s important that we view ocd as a separate entity. That will help us work out the tools that connor needs to deal with it.

Adam: Oh, okay. Well, finally, something practical that we can do. What are these tools that you’re talking about? I mean, please, tell us what we can do to help connor beat this thing.

Victor: I think it’s a horrible idea that you want to go see her and confront her.

Nikki: I don’t wanna wait for jordan to be in a courtroom or some prison waiting room. I wanna confront her in a place where I know she will be feeling completely vulnerable and at my mercy, just exactly like what she did to me.

Victor: Well, why don’t you just let her, you know, suffer the fate that obviously has befallen her?

Nikki: Victor, she’s caught. She’s locked up. She can’t do anything to hurt me now.

Victor: What’s the purpose of this? What do you wanna do?

Nikki: Don’t worry. I’m not going to strangle her, as tempting as that might be.

Victor: Sweetheart, there’s some other concerns I have.

Nikki: What are they?

Victor: I do not want this to be a trigger for you to start drinking again.

Nikki: Oh, darling, no, don’t you see? This could give me the strength to stay sober. This is my opportunity to reclaim my power. I mean, this is the moment that I can start to move on and put this nightmare behind me. I need to do it.

Summer: Claire, this must be so shocking and new for you.

Kyle: It’s quite the family to suddenly fall into.

Summer: She couldn’t have fallen into a more loyal and loving family.

Claire: Yeah, everyone’s so brilliant and strong and so loving. My new family has been more amazing than I ever could’ve dreamed.

Victoria: I can’t tell you how happy it makes me feel to hear you say that.

Kyle: So tell me, what are your plans? Are you gonna stick around genoa city and get to know everyone?

Summer: Oh, I hope so. We’ve got a lifetime of catching up to do.

Kyle: Perhaps you’ll go back to work as nikki’s assistant or maybe another job at newman enterprises.

Summer: All newmans are required to return there at least a few times in their career. It’s kind of like a home base.

Victoria: Generally, that’s true, but it’s totally up to claire. Whatever you want. No pressure, of course.

Claire: Uh, yeah. I’m still figuring everything out. I had a really good conversation with nikki earlier. She knows how much I would love to work with children. I find their inquisitive minds fascinating. So, maybe I’ll try to find something in that field.

[ Phone ringing ]

Victoria: It’s dad. He wants me to come back to the ranch.

Claire: Is everything okay?

Victoria: I think we should go now. Just in case. Looking for a smarter way to mop?

Alcott: I understand you’re anxious to help your son, but it’s important for you to know that we need to set expectations here. It’s very important that you know that there is no miracle cure, so we won’t be speaking in terms of beating this.

Adam: So, you’re saying that nothing can be done for connor? What are we even doing here, then, if that is the case?

Alcott: What we do is treat the disorder. We bring all the symptoms under control so they’re manageable.

Chelsea: Okay. Okay, well, that’s good. That sounds less stressful, less painful. So, um, what are things that we can do to help him?

Alcott: Well, one of the most successful forms of treatment is residential therapy.

Adam: Okay, and what is that?

Chelsea: How does that work?

Alcott: Connor is introduced to a safe, nurturing, controlled environment for therapy and erp.

Chelsea: Erp?

Alcott: Yes, exposure and response prevention. The exposure part refers to connor practicing confronting the images, the thoughts, the objects, and the situations that make him anxious and or trigger his obsessions. Facing it head on instead of hiding from it or pretending it doesn’t exist.

Chelsea: In other words, if you identify and recognize the cause of the behavior, you can begin to fix it?

Alcott: That’s right. That’s the response prevention part of erp. Once you’ve trained yourself to identify the triggering events when they happen, then you can learn the ways not to do the compulsive behavior. Of course, this is done under the guidance of a therapist in the beginning, but soon, you and connor will learn to do your own erp exercises to manage the symptoms. And in time, the treatment retrains the brain so the object of the obsession isn’t a threat.

Adam: Okay, so you’re saying that we intentionally expose him to the things that make him anxious?

Alcott: I know. This may sound counterintuitive, but you’ll be working with a trained erp doctor and you’ll devise a plan for the exposure. Then that therapist will coach connor through the confrontation, helping him to find ways to resist the urge to do the compulsive behavior.

Chelsea: Okay. Um, well, that makes sense.

Adam: And this works?

Alcott: It has been proven to be successful and very effective for patients with ocd like connor. And it’s done in the same type of school that he’s already in.

Connor: Except that it’s not a school, is it? It’s a hospital for sick people.

Ashley: I don’t know. I don’t sound like myself? Then… then, who do I sound like?

Billy: I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going on, but you don’t really sound like yourself, especially the way you’re talking about tucker.

Ashley: Wait. So… I’m not supposed to feel my feelings? Because I am my own person.

Billy: I get that. You always have been, and I don’t expect that to change. But look… ash, breakups are hard. I get that, okay? And this one in particular was pretty rough on you, but you don’t have to cover up for me.

Ashley: I’m okay. I told you that, all right? I’m okay.

Billy: Just like that?

Ashley: Yes.

Billy: All of a sudden, you’re fine. Okay, well, you’ve never called me bro in your entire life, okay? That’s never come out of your mouth. Bro.

Ashley: I was trying to be cool. Oh, epic fail. That was a grand miscalculation I just made.

[ Phone chiming ]

Billy: I gotta take off. I have a board meeting at chancellor-winters. You know how those go.

Ashley: Yeah. Absolutely. Good luck with that.

Billy: I’m actually gonna need that. I don’t know if abby’s filled you in, but things are pretty tense over there right now. Devon and I are not seeing eye to eye, and I’m a little nervous that things are only gonna get worse.

Ashley: Yes. Corporate infighting. It’s very bad for everything that happens in the corporation, and, I mean, if you want my humble advice, I would say that you should just, you know, stay out of that boxing ring because it’s better to be peaceful about all that, and– and it’s more– it’s, uh, beneficial for everybody.

Billy: Ashley.

Ashley: I think it’s better.

Billy: Are you okay?

Ashley: Yes, I’m okay. Why do you keep asking me that? You don’t have to worry about me. Could you please not worry about me anymore?

Billy: Yeah.

Ashley: Okay.

Billy: I can try.

Ashley: Okay.

Billy: All right. I’ll see you soon.

Ashley: Okay. Hey, sir? Could– could I please get a ginger ale? With a cherry. Thank you. Boy that was a close one.

Did you know you waste

200 hours a year

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Ashley: Thank you. Ash? Ash! No. Shut up. No, no, no. No. No. I’m not going back in. Your plan is too dangerous. I’m gonna protect her. I can do it.

Summer: Oh.

Kyle: That was fun, wasn’t it? New book, some hot chocolate.

Harrison: Claire’s funny too.

Kyle: Oh, she is, isn’t she? I think she thinks you’re funny, too.

Harrison: We’re friends now, so when can I see her again?

Kyle: Oh.

Summer: I really liked claire too, but I don’t know just when we’ll see her again. It seems like she’s really busy with other things right now.

Victoria: Mom? Dad? Is something wrong? Why did you text me to come right over?

Nikki: What? You had victoria drop whatever she was doing just to come to the ranch?

Victoria: Yes.

Nikki: Oh, you think that she’s going to talk me out of this, right?

Victoria: Talk you out of what?

Victor: Your mother is proposing that I stand back while she goes and confronts jordan. Now, kindly tell her that this is a very bad idea. She will not get the satisfaction that she’s looking for.

Nikki: I need to find that out for myself.

Victor: It’s only gonna exacerbate things. It’s gonna make things worse for her.

Nikki: Victor, you know that I am made of tougher stuff than that. I need to confront jordan face to face to let her know that she hasn’t and never will destroy me or my family. It’s the only way I know how to regain my power.

Victor: Can’t you tell your mother it’s a bad idea?

Victoria: Actually, dad, I agree with mom.

Victor: You what?

Victoria: I see her point and I completely support her plan.

Claire: I know I don’t have a vote, for good reason, but I support nikki too. Only, I don’t think it should be one-on-one.

Victor: What do you mean by that?

Claire: I’d like to be a part of it. I wanna go with you to confront jordan.

Victoria: So do I. See? Homequote explorer lets you easily compare

Victor: The three of you concur. I don’t give a damn. It’s a lousy idea.

Nikki: It’s not your call to make.

Victor: Yes it is. You don’t even know where she is. You have no idea where to go to find her, do you? So, end of story.

Victoria: Dad, you need to listen to mom. You need to really hear what she’s saying.

Nikki: Victor, I understand your concerns. That after everything that jordan did to me, she deserves to hear from me directly.

Victoria: She deserves to hear from all of us, dad.

Claire: And we deserve to be heard.

Nikki: It just has to happen. I mean, we need to let her know that everything she tried to do to us, she failed. She lost.

Victoria: Daddy, the three of us, we can keep each other safe. But we need a chance to be able to look into jordan’s eyes and let her know that we’re in control and that she will never have control over anyone ever again.

Nikki: That’s right. She’s had her fun. It’s over.

Victoria: She stole my daughter from me. She poisoned our whole family! She burned down my house, dad. I want to see her suffer for these atrocities.

Nikki: This needs to happen. We need it for closure.

Alcott: Connor, we don’t think of it that way. It’s less like a hospital and more like a retreat. It’s a place of healing where people go to find the peace they need to focus and revitalize.

Connor: So it’s like a hospital for sick people, only farther away?

Alcott: No, and no. There are several excellent locations across the country, and like I said, think of it like a vacation retreat. The people are nice, and there are others there going through what you’re going through.

Chelsea: It sounds pretty great.

Alcott: It is. And the school here is completely on board. They’ll make arrangements for you to keep up with your studies so you don’t get behind.

Connor: What about the soccer team? Does this retreat of yours have that?

Alcott: No, but there are activities, arts, music, and a gym, especially at one place that I’m thinking of. And your coach has promised to keep your spot on the team open for when you return.

Chelsea: What do you think, connor? It sounds like a good plan, doesn’t it?

Connor: No, I don’t wanna go.

Adam: Look, connor. Look, we– we don’t need to decide any of this right now, right?

Alcott: No, of course not.

Adam: Okay, good. Then, we will have time to think about it, and we can weigh the pros and cons, and we can come to a decision as a family.

Alcott: Absolutely. Take your time, discuss it, and let me know what you decide.

Chelsea: Connor, are you okay?

Connor: No. I don’t wanna go to some treatment place. It’s like admitting I’m crazy or something.

Chelsea: Hey, hey. You are not crazy, okay? Hey, you heard what dr. Alcott said in there. There’s you. Wonderful, clever, sporty you. And then there’s the ocd, which is separate from you, and we just have to learn how to treat it and manage it.

Adam: Yes, that’s right. Okay? You did nothing wrong. And you’re not crazy. This is just something that happened, and even though we don’t know why, it doesn’t mean that we can’t deal with this.

Chelsea: Sweetie, what you have is an illness. But you remember last year, I went somewhere to get extra help, and listen, your place sounds like a lot more fun, right? Yeah, it’s just– it’s just how we get the ocd behaviors and thoughts to– to back off and leave you alone. Isn’t that a good thing?

Adam: All right, connor, come on. We’ll grab a bite on the way? Probably hungry, right? All right, come on. We’ll get you something.

Chelsea: Thank you. Excuse me, dr. Alcott?

Alcott: Yes, chelsea, come in. I know how difficult this is for a family to go through.

Chelsea: Yeah, it’s– it’s been tough and– and we’re all struggling in our own way.

Alcott: Something like this affects the whole family. We can discuss connor’s case further if you like. I’m happy to answer any questions.

Chelsea: Yeah, that– that would be great actually, because I have– I have a lot of them.

Alcott: I can see connor’s having a hard time accepting and understanding his diagnosis. Feel free to ask me anything. I’m here to help all of you through this.

Chelsea: Thank you. Um, I appreciate that. Um… because I think if it’s okay, I wanna talk about myself. Um, because I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to deal with this.

Kyle: Okay, I’ve got an idea. Why don’t you go upstairs and pull up a game you want all three of us to play? Mom and i will be up in a minute, and then maybe you and I can team up against her again. Cool?

Harrison: I bet me and claire can beat both of you.

[ Kyle laughing ]

Kyle: Okay, get up there. We’ll be up in a minute. Well, that’s a relief. Seeing him actually smile again. He’s been so surly with the nannies we interviewed.

Summer: Yeah, well, he misses linda. It’s nice that he was cheerful with claire.

Kyle: Yeah, he was. It’s kind of a coincidence she’s interested in working with kids.

Summer: Well, she knows how to speak to them on their level. She didn’t talk over his head or baby him.

Kyle: And she’s got jokes. He meant it when he said he wanted to hang out with her again.

Summer: And that’s really sweet, but it sounds like she has to build her life up from scratch, so.

Kyle: Well, she needs a job.

Summer: Victoria’s gonna make sure she has plenty of options.

Kyle: Or maybe we could consider her as a potential babysitter for harrison.

Summer: Do you really think that claire is a good idea?

Kyle: She’s the first person he’s smiled at since linda left. Maybe we can consider her temporarily or at least until she figures out what she wants to do and we can find someone on a more permanent basis.

Summer: I don’t know. I mean, what do we even know about her? Yes, she is victoria’s daughter, but victoria just met her. And yes, she was my grandma’s assistant, but I highly doubt she has any experience with children or formal training or references.

Kyle: Okay, victoria may not have known her long, but those two have bonded. I mean, complete acceptance. That says something, doesn’t it? And she was hired at newman, working directly under nikki. Her background may not be in child care, but her resume’s got to be solid.

Summer: True.

Kyle: Okay, so we get a reference from her about claire and, you know, go from there.

Summer: Okay. Yeah, yeah, I’ll talk to my grandma about it. But trusting somebody in an office, it’s a lot different than trusting somebody with your kid. You know, being a great assistant, that’s one thing, but taking care of a little boy, it’s a whole different ballgame. Literally. Our son can run a person ragged.

Kyle: That’s a good point. But checking in with nikki’s a good place to start. I get the feeling that there’s more to claire’s story than victoria and she were willing to share in front of harrison.

Summer: That’s true. I got that sense as well. I mean, if it’s something that you can’t talk about in front of a kid, then it’s got to be messy.

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Summer: What if it’s so bad that they’re not willing to talk about it at all?

Nikki: Victor, you really have nothing to worry about.

Victoria: The three of us will protect each other, dad.

Nikki: We can handle her. You just need to trust us, okay?

Victor: All right.

Nikki: Wonderful. Now all we need is for you to give us the address.

Victor: Oh, wait a minute. I haven’t agreed completely yet.

Nikki: Well, what more is there to agree to?

Victor: You need someone with you.

Nikki: But it can’t be you, darling.

Victor: Why the hell not?

Nikki: It needs to be just the three of us.

Victoria: You can assign one of your security guards to be with us at all times.

Nikki: Yes, yes. Larry is welcome to join us. He just can’t get in our way. That is non-negotiable. But it’s our turn to take our lives back for good.

[ Victor sighing ]

Ashley: You know you can’t do this yourself. That’s not who you are or what you do. This is my department. You need me. You know you do. More importantly, ashley needs me. Sh! No. I’ve got this.

Adam and Chelsea take Connor to see Dr. Alcott again, but Connor isn’t happy to be there. Dr. Alcott wants him to go to a therapy place, which is kind of like a school/hospital where they can train him to deal with his OCD. Connor isn’t too thrilled about that idea. Later, Chelsea tells the doctor that she doesn’t know how to handle all this.

Billy is in the GCAC bar when he sees Ashley walk in. He goes over to say, and she says, “What’s up, bro?” She acts and speaks very strangely, like a teenager. He asks her how she feels now about Tucker, and she says that she’s over him and that he’s “gross.” Billy can tell she’s acting strangely, but he gets called to a meeting with Devon. After he leaves, Ashley talks to herself, in her head, about how to protect Ashley. (Sounds like a multiple personality story)

Victor gloats to Nikki about how he got the upper hand with Jordan. Nikki wants to confront Jordan, but he thinks that’s a terrible idea.

Victoria and Claire have lunch with Kyle, Summer and Harrison. Victoria fills the others in a little bit about Claire’s history (with very few details). Claire tells them she loves her new family. In the meantime, she gets along very well with Harrison. Victoria and Claire are called away suddenly because of a text from Victor. Later, Kyle wonders if Claire would be a good babysitter for Harrison, but Summer makes it clear that they should get to know more about her first.

Nikki is appalled to learn that Victor made Victoria drop whatever she was doing to come try to talk her out of confronting Jordan. Claire and Victoria side with Nikki. They want to confront Jordan, too. Victor still thinks it’s a bad idea. Nikki agrees to let him send a security guard along.

Recap written by Suzanne

After Nina tells Joss about Dex trying to kill Cyrus at the hospital, Dex is forced to tell Joss what happened, and why. She’s shocked and disgusted; she leaves, never wanting to see him again.

Sonny visits Dante, who’s still unconscious but stable.

Olivia has been sleeping on the couch, worried about Dante. She awakens to find Tracy nearby, acting uncharacteristically kind and helpful. She makes Olivia some coffee. Later, Olivia has fallen asleep but awakens again. Tracy is there but Lois delivers the coffee. The two old friends have a chat, mostly about their kids. Lois is worried about Brook Lynn marrying a cop, since it’s so dangerous.

Tracy goes to visit Sonny and Dante at the hospital. Seeing Dante reminds her of Luke.

Ava and Trina work at the gallery. Trina grows a little sad when talking about Paris. They talk about her feelings and how she’s still grieving. Nina arrives and asks Ava to intervene on her behalf with Sonny. She’s distraught because she can’t even comfort him while his son is in the hospital. Ava goes to see Sonny. When she mentions Nina, he doesn’t want to hear her name. Ava just sits with him and Dante.

Diane and Alexis try to figure out a way for Alexis to get her law license back. They discuss how it came about and how to deal with the red tape to get it back.

Kevin explains to Curtis, Marshall and Stella about how Marshall was misdiagnosed by the late Dr. Braddock because of how doctors used to treat anyone who was different, including angry young black men (like Marshall was) as mentally ill. They thank him for his compassion and information. Stella rants a little bit.

Later, Curtis finds Marshall, who had gone off on his own to deal with his emotions. Marshall wanted to rant and rave, but he is more philosophical about things, since the doctor is dead.

Stella suggests strongly to Tracy that she get her free annual physical. Tracy tries to blow her off, but Stella insists. They have a little anger, but then Tracy apologizes and the two women chuckle about it.

Joss, very upset, finds Trina at the gallery. They hug. Joss fills her in on what happened with Dex.

Dex, still packing back at his apartment, looking sad, calls the police department’s non-emergency number.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

what do you mean? Dex was there when cyrus was there? That’s right. Cyrus survived the beating from sonny, and he also survived his hospital stay, which I’m guessing was just as dangerous. What were you doing there? He was there in hospital scrubs. Let’s not forget that detail. You’re smart, josslyn. You’ll figure it out.

[ Monitor beeping ] Dante. I know you’re in god’s hands, and I believe that your spirit’s strong enough to come back to us. I know you can’t hear me, but I just want you to know that I’m not giving up on you. And I don’t want… …don’t want you to give up on yourself. If you can hear me, I just want you to know that your father is always gonna be… with you. Ooh! Is dante — is he…okay? There’s no change and he would want you to sleep. You were at the hospital all night. Oh. No word from the hospital. Okay. I think I’m gonna maybe head up and take a nice hot shower. Actually, I just walked past your room and scout and sam are asleep on your bed. Ah. Hot coffee it is. Coming right up. You’re gonna make it? I didn’t think you knew how.

[ Scoffs, laughs ]

[ Sighs ] What a talented artist! Oh, you know she studied at l’université de paris, right? Yes, I saw that, too. Oh, my gosh. So many colleges and universities… all a part of each other and around each other. Paris was really the perfect creative environment. Sweetheart… I understand the impulse to throw yourself into work to help cope. But maybe being here around all of this… maybe it isn’t helping. Yeah, but I… I don’t know what will. The appellate division came for you after a ruling in front of the medical board. Correct? That’s a division of the department of health, and that’s deep state. Okay, honey. Hmm? Now we’ve gone from magical thinking to just being ridiculous.

[ Laughs ] It was a regulatory body. I was under oath. Well, I know plenty of elected officials who have lied under oath. None of them have been disbarred. Yeah, I know a lot more that should have been disbarred. But how does any of this have anything to do with me? All right, dr. Collins. It’s true. During that time, I was a young black man down on my luck. And yes, I felt a certain kind of way toward the world around me. Angry. Right, pop? Yeah, I was angry. I have to take issue with two things, dr. Collins. We don’t characterize low-income people as “poor.” Being deemed “poor” is not good for one’s self-esteem or state of mind. And that “anger” marshall was feeling was justified. But I understand what you were trying to say. Marshall: Yeah, so — so do I. But given how things were back in the day, my age, my social standing, my blackness, how well-adjusted could I possibly be? That doctor called me schizophrenic. Did I have to be mentally ill to feel the way I felt? Exactly. You’ve just correctly diagnosed your misdiagnosis.

[ Scoffs ]

Why did you go to the hospital? I was told to go. By sonny? Yes. To deliver some sort of message? No. Why were you wearing scrubs? Did sonny send you to do something? Yes. To kill him? Yes.

[ Snoring ] Oh! Oh, my god. Hi. I must be really tired. I think I’m hallucinating. Weren’t you just tracy a couple of minutes ago? No. Never in any lifetime. Uh, but she did have to go, so she asked me to look after you. Aww. She said to bring you this and make sure you enjoy every sip. Aww. Damn, that is good coffee. Did you make this? No. You okay? No. Is there any word from the hospital?

[ Breathes deeply ] No. There isn’T. But I can call them if you want to. I just figured they’ll call if they needed anything. You mean like if there’s any change in my son’s condition? Honest to god, I don’t know if I should be relieved or terrified. I know it sounds trite, but you have to give yourself time. You’ll get through this. You just called that painting — what did you call it? What’d you say? It’s “fire”? Right? That’s more than going through the motions, honey. Hi. Um… do you have time to talk? I’ll just — I’ll go take that to the back. Are you okay? What’s going on? No, I’m not okay.

The invader ran this really insensitive story about the shooting on the pier that mentioned sonny. But why are you acting surprised by this? Because I’m the publisher of the invader, and they slipped it by me and published this story. If I would have known, I would have done damage control, or I would have killed it altogether. Well, if you’re worried about sonny, he could not care less about the story. And then I ran into josslyn. I went over to dex’s to see him, and she was there. Why did you go see dex?! Because I can’t see sonny. I can’t even go to the hospital to check on dante. Well, did — did dex say anything? No, he didn’t say anything. And I probably just made everything worse. But I don’t care because I am being pushed aside when my husband needs me the most. Ava, I have to find a way to get to him and I’m running out of options. I need you to help me. Right off the bat, I want to take issue with a couple of things. The charge of perjury against you came well after dr. Byrne’s hearing in front of the medical board in 2020. Right? Yes, yes. And that charge stemmed from julian jerome and britt westbourne, both of whom were known perjurers, both of whom were criminals, both of whom are dead. But neither of them were the ones that brought this to the attention of the bar. Yes, but they had to be deposed. And they’re both liars. Okay. All right. That’s off to the side. What I want to circle back to now is why you never defended yourself. Why you never mounted any sort of filing for yourself. Because it was true. Irrelevant! Let’s just say you, uh — you were never presented the opportunity. No, no, no, we can’t do that. Anyway, anyway, look, this is now just you and I here. You know full well you had the right to mount a defense. So why didn’t you? I guess at the time, I didn’t think I had anything left to fight for. Well, snap out of it. Shake off the “poor me’s” and rack whatever is left of that steel-trap mind. Because you’ve got two things to focus on now. Number one, why working here is not working for you, and, number two, how you plan to get out of it. Have any of you heard of a book called “the youngest science”? I read that, and if I recall correctly, it’s an account about medicine evolving as a science from an influential doctor’s point of view. Yes, it’s a personal historical accounting of 20th-century medicine’s evolution. It’s a fascinating read. Okay, okay. It sounds great. Maybe I’ll pick it up. Why are we talking about it? Only as a reference. Uh, medicine as a science has come a long way, but over a long period of time. Psychiatry is much younger, and as a discipline, it’s made all the same mistakes that all the other disciplines have made. Think of it as how astronomers used to believe that the sun revolved around the earth. The point is, scientists and researchers like to be right, and they often fall into the trap of “proving” what they already believe. Yeah, doc, that happens everywhere. Which brings us to dr. Braddock and his work. He wasn’t alone in his beliefs and practices. And I won’t defend the mistakes that my discipline made when psychiatry was still trying to figure out what the heck mental health even was. The point being, the big question at the time was, what is normal? And does that mean being like everybody else? “Everybody else.” Right. And if you’re a mid-20th-century psychiatrist making that determination, you tend to look at the people that you already know, which are going to be decently educated, employed, churchgoing, and predominantly white. That was the control group. Now, if you didn’t belong to this “normal,” predominantly cultural group, if you don’t share any of those hallmarks, or maybe you’re not as adept at code-switching, well, then you present a problem. Hm. An illness.

What? Sonny gives you that order and you say, “yes, boss”? I can’t believe you’d agree to something like that. No, I didn’T. I tried to talk sonny out of it. Oh. Okay. Yeah, of course. You would never go through with something like that. I mean, it’s just nina stirring up trouble, per usual. Except that’s not how it went down, joss. I was going to do it, but sonny stopped me. Tracy. Hi, sonny. Any news? I’d give you some if there was some. I left, uh… sam and olivia back at the house. They both needed sleep. Oh, I hope you won’t ruin my reputation as being cold and unfeeling. Your secret’s safe with me. I’m sorry. Every time I-I see a hospital bed, it just reminds me of luke lying in it. Well, my friend, perhaps your memory is impaired because, as I recall, you weren’t living your best life at the time. No, I was drinking. Definitely not making good choices. You never even had a proper hearing. I was the one who informed you of the decision by phone. Remember? Rings a bell. You know, there’s also a case to be made for bias. Bias? Why? ‘Cause I’m a woman? No. Because you’re a lawyer. Who does the medical profession hate more than anyone? Lawyers. I hate most lawyers, too. But more than anything in the world right now, I wish I still was one. Decades ago, psychiatrists deemed aggression, anger, or a sense of dislocation from the dominant cultural group as a mental maladjustment. Never mind the societal injustices that existed only because they hadn’t been challenged for centuries. Which was the actual maladjustment to begin with. Right. So defiant, anxious young black men were tagged as schizophrenic, whether the diagnosis was accurate or not, especially when one of the hallmarks of the disease is a misconception of reality, such as an institution or society at large is out to get them. Someone might be obsessed about that, or angry about it. Or desperate. To figure out why his heart is suddenly racing for no reason. Why… why his hands are sweaty and suddenly it’s hard to breathe. Or why people are just looking at him funny. I couldn’t play my horn like that, man. I was mad. And frightened. I thought something was wrong with me, or that somebody was trying to do something to me. So you sought help. And you, like a lot of other young men, were deemed schizophrenic when all you were doing was perceiving the reality around you. On top of that, the medications you were likely prescribed would cause unexplained behaviors, which would only reinforce the misdiagnosis. Lord, have mercy. An entire generation of unhappy women were prescribed valium. It’s a muscle relaxer. Gay, lesbian, and trans people were tranquilized, hospitalized, or, worse, electroshocked into quiescence. And that’s only if they had health insurance, by the way. Did you? For a short time. Once the insurance companies knew I had been institutionalized, I was dropped. Got bounced. Out the door with all the — those others you were talking about, who couldn’t pay. You’d find us on the streets and bars and prisons, worried. Worried we’d pose a danger to the people at home we most loved… or bring shame on them. There’s no shame for you, mr. Ashford. The shame is and will always be ours.

Was it that night that adam was in the hospital? Oh, my god. It was, wasn’t it? And I was in the chapel. And then you came in, and then I fell asleep. And when I woke up, you were in there. And I remember thinking how lucky I was that you were there, and that I could always depend on you. And now you’re… you’re telling me…what? If sonny hadn’t stopped you, you would have just come and sat in the chapel with me? I don’t know what would have happened. All I know is what did. I was in scrubs. I had lifted a vial of fentanyl from the pharmacy storage, and I was going to inject it into cyrus’ picc line when sonny showed up. And if sonny hadn’t stopped you, and he hadn’t walked in right then, you’re telling me you would have done it? Yes. Who are you? You promised that you’d help me try to put my marriage back together. Let’s come up with a strategy, a way to break through sonny’s anger and get him to see that he still needs me. The timing isn’t — isn’t very good for you, nina. I mean, what are you gonna say — “sonny, don’t look at your son who’s hanging on to his life by a thread. Look at me”? No, of course not, ava. No, it’s more like, “sonny, let me be there to support you. Let me love you. Let me be there when you’re going through this incredibly difficult time. Let me be your wife ag– again.” That’s what it’d be. I still don’t quite understand why you were with sonny at the warehouse. But you were there. That means that he trusts you. If you advocate for me, he will listen. Trina: Hey, ava. I just tracked the other packages, and another one should be coming in today. The delivery was pushed up. I have to go out. Are you up to staying here and receiving it? If it comes before I get back, just, um, log it in and — and lock up. Yeah, I got you. Are you all right? Yeah, I’ll be fine. Thank you so much. You remember when my nonna told us that boys were easier to raise than girls? Yeah. She lied.

[ Laughing ] Yeah. She did. Either that or she didn’t know any of the kids that dante grew up with. Oh, I think it was… maybe just our neighborhood, right? I mean, ’cause those boys, they were, like, a step above hooligans. And I mean a tiny step. Yeah. And dante was one of them. I mean, that kid got into so many scraps in that high school, they felt like they had to send him away for counseling. I’m telling you, I was — I was scared to death that there was actually something wrong with him. But it turns out it was just dante being dante. You know, he was always standing up to bullies, defending the weaker kids, and not letting anyone get pushed around. That’s why he’s such a great cop. Yeah. You know? The best kind. The ones that truly know what it means to protect and serve. Dr. Collins, I was a social worker for many years before I became a patient advocate. And the reason I switched is because I saw and experienced the inequities within the medical system firsthand. Those mistakes you spoke of were born of racism, sexism, otherism, plain and simple. And what happened to marshall wasn’t a mistake. It was malpractice signed, sealed, and systemic. I’m sure you’ve seen the stories of how blacks, minorities, and women experience medical bias. It’s all over the news lately, but it’s nothing new. It’s been going on since the jim crow era. And women still aren’t taken seriously by medical professionals. I know because I have patients I have to fight for in this very hospital. Not to mention the ongoing maternal health crisis for women of color. And what burns me up is that we have great, talented medical professionals in this country. There’s no excuse for any of this. I’m sorry. I could go on, but I’m done. I’m done. As you can see, doc, my auntie is a passionate social justice warrior. Yeah, baby, but I’m getting tired of this fight. Why, after all this time, are we still reckoning with things like this? We’re all human. It doesn’t matter, the variety. Biology is biology. You are an advocate in every sense of the word, ms. Henry. I hope you never stop. Yeah. I know, uh, an apology from someone like me at this late date is meaningless. No, no. Not meaningless. Not at all. You — you told the truth. You validated what I’ve been going through most of my life. I… doctor, I just wish I had been able to understand all of this sooner. Not handed over my sanity and my life to some guy with a degree because I thought he was helping me. Curtis: Well, that’s — that’s hard to do, pop, when the person you trusted to help you was attacking you. It’s insidious. I can just wonder — how many other people did he do this to? Oh, there were others. Braddock was a respected, published doctor. Well, we always figured it was something like this. And not only did you confirm it, but you — you shone a light on my life. It’s a lot to process. Kind sir, I am so grateful to you. Well, I’m sure you’re a bit leery of shrinks right about now, but my door’s always open if you ever would like to talk this through. I’ll think about it.

[ Chuckles ] Of course. Thank you, dr. Collins. Mr. Ashford.

Sonny gave me an order. I didn’t have the option to refuse. You’re telling me you would have chosen to kill for sonny? No, no. I didn’t want to. I just didn’t see a way out. But sonny asking me was a test. And either I pass or I’m the one who gets eliminated. I’m just lucky that he changed his mind. Dex, you’re not understanding me, okay? In my head, yeah, you’re working for sonny, but you are also working for my mom and my brother. My own family. I never thought that you would cross this line. I have pictured a life with you that isn’t possible. I was gonna leave everything for you. Now I feel like I don’t even know you. Oh, joss, that is not true. Okay? You do know me, and I know you. I’m glad that it didn’t happen. But I didn’t see the point of getting myself killed for refusing to take out cyrus. This isn’t about cyrus. I hate cyrus. This is different. Neither sonny, nor you, were being shot at. There were no guns out. This was a defenseless old man in a hospital bed. I cannot unsee the image of you going into that room. This is about you being okay with killing someone. Do you understand? I’ve killed before. You’re right. You have. And I have put you on this pedestal in my head and never imagined that this is something you would be okay with. But I’m not. This changes everything. I can’t do this anymore.

[ Door closes ] So when you wake up, give me a call. Let me know if there’s any news about dante. Okay, honey. Love you. Bye. Sam? Voicemail. What’d you find out? Well, apparently I have to file an appeal with the appellate court before I can file an appeal with the appellate court. Oh. See? I’m glad you understood what that means. Maybe you’re remembering how redundant and full of catch-22’s the law actually is. Maybe that steel trap isn’t as rusty as I thought. It’s creaky, but functioning. I suppose it has to be a special pleading… mm-hmm. Since I did lie so that neil wouldn’t lose his medical license. And then he lost it anyway. Yeah, yeah. You threw away your career for him. Why did I do that again? Because you’re a rescuer, alexis. You want to be the heroine in everybody’s life but yours. In fact, in yours, you’re the archvillain, so no punishment is ever enough. Stella, I’m so glad you’re here. I would like to request a phone call if there’s any change in dante’s condition. My cellphone number is on file with the hospital board. I’ll note dante’s file. And speaking of board, I have a few things I need to run by you. Oh? Yes, but we don’t have to get into it right now. Well, I’m here right now, so let’s get into it right now. Unless you have something else you need to… there you are. How you doing? Sorry I, uh, took off like that. I just figured I could use some time to myself. Some history lesson, huh? Yeah. Yeah, dr. Collins, he broke it down for us, didn’t he? But he didn’t say anything we hadn’t already put together, right? Pop, if you want me to leave you alone so you can rant, vent, curse, and damn dr. Braddock’s name to hell, I can take off. I came here intending to do just that, curtis. To holler and to curse. But I couldn’T. I couldn’t get something your aunt stella said out of my head. Uh [Chuckles] Which part? She said so much. Yeah, yeah, she’s something else, but she got me. She got me when she said, “we’re all human.” Well, I guess at the end of the day, that’s what it all boils down to. Then why… why in blazes can’t we act like it? It’s so wrong. Everybody is — is wrong about most everything they think about. I lost — I lost decades because of how people wanted to see me or not see me. That doctor, he lost a lifelong career because of his misbeliefs. It’s so senseless, man. You’re being very philosophical about this doctor. Me? Not so much. He’s dead. And now I find myself in the position where I got to forgive that man. Because that’s what your mama would want me to do. Irene always said forgiveness isn’t for the other person as much as it is for ourselves.

[ Sighs ] Yeah. Curtis, if I — if I carry around hate for that man, I’m gonna turn into a hateful person. I’ll be just like him. Yeah, well… maybe I’ll just have to work harder on that. But I will. For you. And for myself. I just… I just thought of something. That doctor, he… that disgraced doctor is six feet under. And I am here. I’m here with my family. My beautiful, accomplished, talented family. A family any man would be proud of. Everything I thought was wrong somehow turned out to be right. Or is it just another proof of the existence of god?

Oh, my gosh. What? Joss, what happened? Is it dante? No. I mean, I don’t know how dante’s doing. I hope he’s fine, but… okay, well, I need you to calm down and stop crying because I am two seconds away from joining you. And if I start, I won’t be able to stop. So please take — take a deep breath and tell me what happened. It’s dex. What happened? Is he leaving town again? I hope so. [ Voice breaking ] I hope he never comes back. What? You are the only board member who hasn’t made an appointment for their complimentary annual wellness exam. Oh, it’s not necessary. I’m no longer seeing dr. Finn. You see, his brother is marrying my granddaughter, so it just felt a little too close. There are a lot of doctors in this hospital. And dr. Randolph would be happy to see you. I’ll get around to it. When? When I get around to it. What’s the big deal? Do I look sick to you? No. You look foolish. I just came down off a soapbox talking about the inequities in the medical system and how people are literally dying for proper care. And here you stand the very picture of privilege refusing to get a free annual exam! Lois: Isn’t it a trip, my daughter and your son growing up together, and now she’s about to marry his partner? Oh, life’s funny. Chase is really a sweetheart. Yeah, he is. Very devoted to his job. How is brook lynn handling that?

[ Sighs ] She’s crying her eyes out and hiding it from chase so that she doesn’t worry him. Yeah, that’s her new reality. I honestly don’t even know what to say to her about it. I don’t know how you put up with it all these years. I got to tell you, I’m terrified that my daughter is about to marry a cop. Now, you would think that it would matter that dante was on the right side of the law. A bullet doesn’t care. Sonny didn’t get shot. Dante did. I don’t think I’m still my own nemesis. I’ve had my dark night of the soul. I go to meetings, I do the work. I know that I’m gonna be the only one to champion myself. So you’re out of the rescue business? I may get a cat.

[ Laughs ] Maybe three. But in my personal life, I’ve hung up the cape. But — but impulses die hard. I still root for the underdog. Well, until we get your law license back, the only underdog I want you rooting for is you. Now, I am going to go see how far and how fast I can push this appeals process along. In the meantime, I need two things from you — don’t sleep with any more doctors. As far as I’m concerned, attorneys should only sleep with attorneys. Attorneys. Yeah. Maybe just district attorneys. You know, that way, we narrow down the pool. You know what I mean, right? Yeah. Mm-hmm. The second thing is, get rid of that insipid gossip columnist that came after me.

I thought that nothing could ever change the way that I feel about dex. But I was wrong. I feel like I don’t even know him. I feel like he’s a different person. Or maybe he’s always been this person and I’m just now seeing it, but… what he’s okay with, I’m not okay with. And what he can live with, I can’T. I won’T. I need the police non-emergency number, please. Let’s not make a federal case out of this. I will get my free wellness exam. Good. Shall I set it up now? No! I have to check my calendar. I’ll get back to you. Fine. You do that. I will!

[ Sighs ] Stella? Yes, ms. Quartermaine? I apologize for being rude, and I would like it if you’d call me tracy. Well, tracy, I was a little worked up already, and you’ve been rude to me before.

[ Both chuckle ] I’m surprised they let you in. Nobody stopped me. In fact, they — they told me at the nurses’ station that dante was stable. They’re not really supposed to give out that information. You know, only to the family. Maybe they thought I was nina. Don’t say that name. I just can’T. Right. I’m sorry. I won’t even talk. I’ll just — I’ll just stay and wait with you for a bit.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

[ Sentimental music ]

Thomas: Marry me, hope. I have loved you for as long as I can remember. I promise to you that I will be a wonderful husband and a father, a great father. Say you’ll marry me, hope. Say you’ll be my wife.

Steffy: Yep. Yeah, that’s great. Okay, well send me a list of your preferred photographers and we’ll get back to you. All right. Thank you so much, marianne. All right, bye. Liam, what brings you here?

Liam: Uh, I was gonna come up with an excuse, like I’m dropping something off for kelly, but truth is, I just, uh, I know you’ve got a lot going on and um, I’m a bit concerned. I mean, what happened to sheila is one thing, but especially finn’s reaction to her death.

Finn: Hey, I’m sorry luna’s upset with you. I mean, I know you guys are so close. To be honest, you’re more like sisters than mother and daughter.

Poppy: I know, but with this, she doesn’t want to talk to me. She wants to talk to her dad.

Finn: And that has something to do with me?

Luna: I’m sorry.

Bill: Why? You have nothing to apologize for.

Luna: I don’t know, because I’m all emotional in front of you and you barely even know me.

Bill: Well, I’d like to get to know you better. I’m not your father. But, I could be a shoulder for you to cry on. Or maybe cry over, because I do kinda like this shirt. I don’t want you to ruin it. You can talk to me, luna.

Finn: I mean, you and luna are family. If you guys are having any kind of trouble, I want to help fix it any way I can. I’m just– I’m just not seeing what I can do, exactly.

Poppy: You can give luna what she’s looking for. What she wants more than anything. Talk to her, finn.

Luna: You’re being really nice.

Bill: Do me a favor, keep that to yourself. I have a reputation to uphold.

Luna: Don’t worry, I’m not gonna tell anyone how nice you are about listening to my problems.

Bill: It doesn’t cost me a thing. And who knows, I mean, maybe i can offer you some actual help. Or at least a little guidance.

Luna: It’s just been really frustrating. You know, because all my life, my mom has been like my best friend. Someone that I can confide in, someone that I can talk to about literally anything. Um, but now…

Bill: You wish you had your father to turn to.

Luna: Yeah, but my mom won’t tell me who he is.

Steffy: I appreciate your concern.

Liam: But you’re about to tell me there’s no reason to be.

Steffy: There isn’T. Not in the long run. Sheila’s death has presented a bit of a problem, but we’re gonna get through it. My relationship is fine with finn. I’m not worried about us. I’m worried about thomas.

Liam: What’s wrong with thomas?

Steffy: What do you think? Hope. Hope is wearing thomas’ engagement ring on a chain around her neck. I mean, that is ridiculous. You know she doesn’t really love him. She’s just leading him on. She’s never gonna truly commit herself to him.

Thomas: I designed that dress for what I hope will be one of the most important occasions of our lives. And you look more beautiful than I ever could’ve imagined. By the way, I love you so much. And I know I’ve said that a thousand times, but I… it couldn’t hurt to say it one more, right? I do. I love you. Now, this ring has been around your neck for, I think, long enough. It deserves to be on your hand. I want the world to see us walking into the future together, hand in hand, side by side. All you have to do is say you’ll marry me.

Finn: You want me to talk to luna?

Poppy: Yes.

Finn: Sure, I’m more than happy to spend time with her. But if the person she wants to talk to is her dad… and look, I don’t mean to pry, but do you– do you know– do you know who luna’s father is?

Luna: What do you think, bill? I mean, don’t you think I have the right to know who my father is?

Bill: What I think doesn’t matter. This is between you and your mom. But I was curious enough to ask poppy if it was me. The timing works. The night we spent together at the festival. And when you were born.

Luna: She said it wasn’T.

Bill: Right.

Luna: God. This is just so unfair. You know, whoever he is, I’m his daughter. You know, I feel like we deserve to know each other. My mom was just wrong for keeping us apart.

Bill: Did you ever think that maybe poppy knows something that you don’t?

Luna: What, like you mean like he’s a bad person?

Bill: Not necessarily that. Look, this is what I know. Your mom loves you more than anything. I’m sure she has your best interests at heart.

Steffy: I want thomas to be happy. I want him to find peace, love, family, but hope is stringing him along.

Liam: Well, I want hope to not be with thomas at all, so there’s that. Eh, maybe if I handled things differently.

Steffy: What are you talking about? Please, hope always acts like she’s the victim here, lamenting the end of your marriage when she was the one who kissed thomas in rome. She’s not so innocent.

Liam: Thank you for acknowledging that. Not many people do.

Steffy: No, I’m just losing patience here. She already messed with your emotions, now she’s doing the exact same thing to thomas. She’s leading him on. Making him believe there’s a chance that she’s gonna marry him.

Thomas: We have wasted enough time, hope. I wanna be a family. You, me, douglas and beth, so say you’ll marry me. This is a make it, break it moment. You and me, together. I want to spend the rest of our lives with each other. Say you’ll be my wife.

Hope: I love you. Thomas, I– I really do. But I… I can’t accept your proposal. I’m– I’m not ready. Why do dermatologists worldwide recommend

Poppy: If I told you that luna was conceived in love, would that answer your question?

Finn: I mean, I just– I don’t get it. You had to have known the day would eventually come when luna would want to know who her father is, so why not just let it happen?

Poppy: Because it’s always just been luna and me. The two of us were always enough.

Finn: Maybe for you, but I could see a world where luna wouldn’t wanna upset you by admitting that she– that she did need him.

Poppy: What she needs is a strong male presence in her life. She loves you, finn, and she looks up to you, and you could easily fill those shoes. Please, will you do it? Will you be that male presence in my daughter’s life?

Luna: I’m sorry. You– you came here to see my mom and instead you got me crying over a father that I’ve never known.

Bill: I don’t mind. I kind of like being someone you can trust with your feelings.

Luna: You know, you have really kind eyes. It’s probably the first thing my mom saw when she first met you all those years ago. My mom always says that the, uh, the eyes are the window to the soul.

Bill: I don’t know that my eyes have always revealed the best part of me. But they did that night that I first looked at your mom. And maybe that’s why she returned the favor. You know, she hasn’t changed. I mean, she’s still that same take me or leave me breath of fresh air. And– and I’m– I’m pretty guarded with women at this point in my life.

Luna: Why’s that?

Bill: Money. I have it and a lot of women want it.

Luna: Well, my mom doesn’t really care about money.

Bill: Yeah, that’s one of the reasons I’m so drawn to her. Your mom is an incredible woman and she has raised an equally remarkable daughter.

Steffy: Hope has been out of control since she broke up with you. Now, she’s laser focused on thomas and thomas believes that they actually have a future together. I don’t believe that. I think he is in for a world of hurt.

Liam: Or she is, or they both are, I– whatever. I think we can both agree that hope and thomas is a toxic combination.

Hope: Thomas, I’m sorry. The last thing I would ever want to do is hurt you and I can tell that I have.

Thomas: You’re turning me down again.

Hope: Again, please understand. It has nothing to do with you. You, you’re amazing. And you’re wonderful and the time that we share together, it brings me so much joy and happiness. And I know– I know that you love me unconditionally and it means the world. But I just got out of a marriage. And I’m trying to focus on myself and the kids and my career and– and my relationship to you. Thomas, I love you. I love you. I just– I’m not– I’m not ready for a forever commitment. I’m sorry, but I can’t be. I’m sorry.

Thomas: No.

Hope: I’m sorry, thomas, wait!

If you have chronic

kidney disease you can reduce

Finn: You don’t even have to ask. Of course, I’ll be there for luna, anytime she needs me. And even when she thinks she doesn’T.

Poppy: Thank you. No, really, that means a lot. Thank you.

Finn: No, and hey, I mean, you looked after me when I was her age. All the time we spent together, how close we became.

Poppy: Yeah, and look at us now, all these years later. You’re a brilliant doctor with a beautiful family and I have a grown up daughter with a mind of her own. And I miss the days when luna would take her lead from me.

Finn: You said that she’s always been curious about her father.

Poppy: Yeah, but I’ve always been able to steer her off that path. But, I don’t know, this time– this time feels different.

Finn: You know what, I think, just go with it. Respectfully, as luna’s cousin, I think it’s time that she finds out who her father really is.

Bill: When you find your dad, and I believe that one day you will, he’s going to be so happy and proud to call you his daughter. What? What– what– what did I say? I don’t want to upset you. You see, I’m– I’m just so clumsy.

Luna: No, no, no, you didn’t upset me. I mean, you did, but in a good way. Because you’re so kind and caring, and obviously I’m an emotional wreck right now, so…

Bill: Tell me what I can do. How can I help you without stepping on poppy’s toes?

Luna: I don’t know.

Bill: Well, if you think of something, don’t hesitate.

Luna: I really like you, bill. I mean, what if you were my father?

Bill: Well, among other things, you would be filthy rich.

Luna: Well, I’m kind of like my mom in that way. I don’t really care about money, so…

Bill: Ah, well, there you have it. You’re not my daughter.

Steffy: Thomas, what is it? What’s wrong?

Thomas: I– I don’t know. I was just– I was so excited. I was– I was so ready, I… knew what I wanted, and it didn’t happen.

Steffy: What didn’t?

Thomas: I’m such an idiot. I, uh, I asked hope to marry me again.

Steffy: And she turned you down again. Oh, god. I knew this was gonna happen, thomas. You don’t deserve any of this. I mean, she is bad news.

Thomas: I don’t get it. I don’t understand what I did wrong. Like, I– I gave her the ring. She’s– she’s been wearing it.

Steffy: She’s been wearing it as a necklace, thomas.

Thomas: I offered it to her and she didn’t refuse it. There was a potential for a future. She didn’t just reject it or something.

Steffy: Okay, thomas, thomas, this really has to stop, okay? You’re setting yourself up for heartbreak over and over again. Hope is never gonna give you what you want.

Thomas: Don’t say that.

Steffy: It’s true. And what she did just proves it. She claims to love you, but she’s never going to commit herself to you. So you need to let her go, okay? You need to move forward. Focus on the future without hope.

Interview with Victor Levin, writer/creator of “Alice & Jack” on PBS and writer for “Extended Family” on NBC by Suzanne 2/22/24

It was very interesting to speak with Victor, who has written for so many wonderful shows. Tonight is the premiere of his miniseries “Alice & Jack,” which he created and has been working on for many years. I can tell, from this interview, that it was a labor of love. It’s not really my kind of show, but I will be sure to finish watching it. I did start watching “Extended Family,” on his recommendation here, and it is a very funny sitcom.  Check them both out for yourselves and enjoy the interview!

MORE INFO:

Victor Levin, the creator, writer and executive producer of PBS/Masterpiece’s upcoming series Alice & Jack with star Andrea Riseborough at tonight’s CAA screening.Victor Levin was born in 1961 in New York, had a traditional upbringing in the suburbs, and attended Amherst College. In the 1980s, Levin worked at advertising agency Young & Rubicam, writing commercials for Jell-O and Dr Pepper before moving to Los Angeles at the urging of a friend. While writing ads, he had been practicing writing screenplays, so once he was west, he wasted no time breaking in to television. His first show was “Baby Talk” (ABC, 1991-92), based on the film “Look Who’s Talking” (1989). From there he moved to “Dream On” (HBO, 1990-96), then to “The Larry Sanders Show” (HBO, 1992-98), where he earned his first Emmy® nomination. “Mad About You” (NBC, 1992-99) was the show that Levin credited with really teaching him how a TV series is run. Levin worked on the series from 1994 to ’99, eventually working his way up to Executive Producer and earning two more Emmy nominations. His first produced feature film was “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton” (2004) starring Kate Bosworth and Josh Duhamel. He re-teamed with his “Mad About You” star Helen Hunt for her feature directorial debut, “Then She Found Me” (2007), which Levin co-wrote and which starred Hunt and Bette Midler. He earned another Emmy nomination as co-executive producer on “Mad Men” (AMC, 2007-2015) in 2012. Levin’s directorial debut, “5 to 7” (2014) premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival to favorable reviews. The film was released by IFC Films in 2015. Alice & Jack key art

Alice & Jack reveals how love plays out between two very different people over 15 years. The story explores the seminal question of whether the bonds between us are stronger than the forces that would tear us apart. “It’s more honest about human behavior than most romances allow,” says RogerEbert.com, and “[asks] audiences to think about subjects they think they know well and look at them from a different angle.”

The miniseries is created by Mad Men award-winning writer Victor Levin (Mad Men, Mad About You) and features moving performances Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie, Birdman) as Alice, a single woman invested in her career while grappling with a childhood trauma, and Domhnall Gleeson (The Revenant, About Time) as the scientist she meets in a bar. The cast also includes Aisling Bea (This Way Up), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), and Sunil Patel (Love at First Sight).

Still from "Alice & Jack" on PBSAbout Extended Family: Jim and Julia, after an amicable divorce, decide to continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them. Navigating the waters of divorce and child-sharing gets more complicated for Jim when Trey, the owner of the Boston Celtics, enters the picture and wins Julia’s heart. Also streaming on Peacock.

Days Opinions For The Week Of March 11, 2024

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Tate and Holly from Days

Tate took the risk of going to see Holly so she could help clear his name. We get why he felt he needed to leave the rehab center to see her, but he shouldn’t have risked getting caught doing that. Did he really think no one was going to find him at the DiMera mansion? There was no way he was going to get away with seeing her without getting caught. He should have waited to see her.

Speaking of Holly, she was so selfish when she didn’t tell Nicole and EJ that Tate wasn’t the one who drugged her. She would rather have them think Tate drugged her instead of letting them know she wasn’t the saint they think she is. Holly was able to live with the fact that an innocent person was being punished for something she did. We don’t believe she doesn’t want to stress out Nicole. She’s looking out for herself.

Abe finally got his memory back this week. It was about time he got it back. We didn’t care for the way he got his memory back out of the blue. Lexie came to see Abe when Paulina was dying. After her visit, he suddenly got his memory back and Paulina was suddenly cured. We understand that the writers wanted us to believe that it was a miracle, but we didn’t buy it. They could have come up with a better way to have Abe and Paulina get their miracles.

What was the point of having Eli and Lani come back to Salem if they were going to write them off so soon? Why would Eli suddenly accept a promotion when he knows what his family is going through? He could have gotten his job back in Salem. The writers could have said Eli and Lani were staying temporarily. They didn’t have to have him accept a promotion.

Did the writers forget that Maggie has two children? When she and Konstantin were talking about her children, she only mentioned Sarah. She said she lost two children which means Melissa is still alive. Konstantin has no way of knowing about Melissa, so we didn’t expect him to mention her, but Maggie knows she has another daughter and forgot about her. Just because Melissa isn’t on the show anymore doesn’t mean she couldn’t mention her.

Wendy: You guys really saved my life. Mine and Tripp’s.
John: All in a day’s work.
Rafe: Hey. That’s my line.

(about Wendy’s flowers)
Wendy: Your Mom brought those.
Tripp: I got a muffin. You must rate.

Chanel: Mama. You look so much better.
Paulina: Normally I would be offended by that remark, but right now I will take it.

(to Tripp)
Sarah: They say that doctors are the worst patients, but you are in a league of your own.

(when Harris accused EJ of knowing where Stefan was)
EJ: I didn’t know one could develop brain damage after being shot in the chest. You’re out of your mind.
