Ridge: A party, huh? That’s the last thing you should be thinking about right now.

Brooke: I agree. But–

Ridge: No, I get– I get why he wants to– I get all that but his priorities are all wrong. He should be at the hospital right now, right? He almost collapsed. He should do what his doctor says and do those tests because who knows? Maybe we’ll get some good news, maybe… we’ll find he’ll stick around– he’ll stick around a little longer.

Donna: Eric? Eric?

Rj: Hey, what’s up?

Zende: You know, this used to be my office?

Rj: I thought everyone used it.

Zende: Everybody does, but it’s where I did most of my sketching.

Rj: Okay, well, I’ll work somewhere else. How’s that?

Zende: Your latest?

Rj: Yeah. What do you think?

Zende: Honest opinion, you got a lot to learn.

Rj: I never said I didn’t have a lot to learn, you know. I spent a lot of time with granddad.

Zende: Seriously? You’re gonna throw that in my face again?

Rj: I’ve never thrown that in your face, man.

Zende: Whatever, you got to admit, you haven’t really paid your dues around here.

Rj: What, like– like you have? Is that…

Zende: Remind me, what design school did you attend?

Rj: We really doing this? Come on, you know the answer to that one.

Zende: What’s a dolman sleeve?

Rj: Zende.

Zende: You ever hear of a knife pleat?

Rj: No, I haven’t heard of a knife pleat.

Zende: Both are designs from the 1920s to the 1950s. Way before our time. But the kind of thing they teach you in design school.

Rj: Cool, I’m starting to get your point. What do you want from me?

Zende: Look, rj, no disrespect, but you have to admit, they rolled out the red carpet for you here. And it’s all because you’re the golden child. Ridge and brooke’s son.

Brooke: What’s going on? Problems at international?

Ridge: No, it’s just rafael wanting to know about dad and the collection and possible launch date. If only he knew what was really going on.

Brooke: There would be an outpouring of love and concern.

Ridge: Yeah. But instead we’re here talking about a party, right? He should be at a hospital, taking some tests, but no. That’s what he wants to do. I should be with my dad making sure he’s all right. Instead he wants me to dress up in a monkey suit and pretend everything is fine.

Brooke: Okay. I– I know. It’s okay.

[ Knocking on door ]

Hope: What is it? Is it eri has something– has something happened?

Brooke: Oh, no, honey. Not the way that you mean. I mean, eric appears to be in stable condition.

Ridge: Yeah, so stable wants to have a party.

Donna: Eric? Can you hear me? Please, answer me, answer me.

[ Donna sobs, gasps ] No, no, no, no, no, no!

[ Donna gasps ]

[ Eric mumbles indistinctly ]

Donna: Eric! Teddy bear!

[ Donna gasps ] Sweetheart! Thank god! Oh, god. Oh, sweet, sweet.

[ Donna crying ]

Eric: What are you doing?

Donna: I– I’m calling 911, eric.

Eric: No, no, no. No.

Donna: Eric, you– you– you– you collapsed. My god. And this isn’t your first time. You– you– you– you almost fell at the office with rj.

Eric: I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m– I am fine.

Donna: But–

Eric: Don’T. Don’t worry.

Donna: Don’t worry? You– you were unconscious, I– I thought you– thought you–

Eric: You thought I was dead?

Donna: Yes. [ Sobs ]

Eric: Okay, okay. Not dead. Not dead. Not getting rid of me yet.

Donna: Don’t joke like that. I told you don’t joke.

Eric: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I scared you. I’m sorry.

Donna: I wanna take care of you. I just– I– I– I wanna look out for you when I–

Eric: You take care of me, okay? But no hospital, no doctors. No. Please. Thank you. Now, the party. We need to do it right away. I don’t have much time.

Hope: So, this party was all eric’s idea?

Ridge: Yeah, he’s determined to make it happen.

Brooke: Eric wants his family around him and the house filled with love and laughter. A night to be remembered always.

Hope: Okay, but what about eric’s doctor? I mean, couldn’t something like this be too much for him?

Brooke: We were worried about that too. But eric feels that with his family around and everybody really enjoying themselves that maybe that’s the best medicine for him.

Ridge: You know, what else would be good medicine? Being honest with him. Tell him that we know and then tell him that we’re there for him. How about that?

Hope: I’m– I’m really sorry, ridge. I know this must be very difficult for you.

Ridge: Well, it’s difficult for all of us, right? We all love my dad. I gotta go see rj. Hey, um… thank you for your support. Means a lot.

Zende: It is beyond ludicrous that you, with zero design experience, would be grandpa’s first pick to work with him on couture.

Rj: I know. I get it. I get it. I just– well, you think that my– that my mom and my dad forced our granddad to give me a job?

Zende: I’m sure that they approached it with a little bit more finesse than that, but the end result is the same. You got to spend all this extra time with granddad, positioning yourself for better things.

Rj: You think I spent all of this time with granddad because I had an ulterior motive? Zende, if you knew why I was doing this…

Zende: Why? Why, what?

Rj: This is pointless. This is stupid. Listen, we’re– we’re family. You’re my cousin. Okay? We shouldn’t be fighting over this. This is– if you want the truth, I’m gonna give you the truth. I was shocked too. All right? I– I was shocked when he asked me to– to help him design.

Zende: I still say that ridge had something to do with this.

Rj: He had nothing to do with this. This– I– you have my word.

Zende: Your word?

Rj: Yes.

Zende: Right. Okay. Great.

Rj: Zende.

Zende: Great.

Rj: This was my granddad’s decision. Our granddad’s decision.

Zende: Rj, I’m sorry, I’m just not buying it. Just put yourself in my shoes for a second. Give me one good reason why granddad would choose to work with you instead of me?

Ridge: I can give you a reason. Rj knows something that you don’T. But maybe it’s time that you did.

Hope: I still can’t believe that eric wants to throw a party.

Brooke: I couldn’t believe it either at first. But even ridge acknowledged that it’s important to eric. What’s important to eric is important to us because we care about him so much. Despite how difficult this is going to be.

Hope: Yeah, but mom… you share two children with eric. And he has always been a champion of yours. So, while I– I acknowledge that this is an incredibly difficult time for eric, but it is for you too. Are you really sure you can do this? I mean, go to that party, pull off the charade of a lifetime in front of a man who means so much to you.

Brooke: Well, I… we all have to be strong… for eric. Think about it. This may be the last thing that he ever asks of us. So, we have to come through for him.

Donna: Can I get you anything or– or do anything?

Eric: No. Yeah, I’m fine.

Donna: I’ll– I’ll get you some water, okay?

Eric: Or maybe– maybe a martini, extra dry.

[ Donna sighs ]

Eric: Okay. Water will be fine.

[ Eric sighs ] Donna, I meant what I said about the party. We have to do it. I– I’m– I’m winding down.

Donna: Please, don’t say that.

Eric: We have to do the party. There’s not a lot of time. Okay?

Zende: So, I was right. There was something– something that would explain rj getting the coveted spot next to granddad.

Ridge: Can you stop doing that, please? Stop insinuating that he gets some special treatment.

Zende: But I’m not insinuating anything. I’ve been saying it outright from the start.

Ridge: Okay. Let’s clear it up. I should have told you this a long time ago but I was trying to respect my– my father’s wishes.

Zende: Wait. So, granddad was in on it?

Ridge: No. He’s not in on anything but it’s– it’s affecting him.

Zende: What is affecting him? What?

Ridge: Did you notice any changes in my dad in the past few months?

Zende: Not really. Uh, he seems as focused and driven as ever. His collection was killer. He won the– the– the fashion challenge.

[ Ridge sighs ]

Rj: He didn’T.

Zende: What are you talking about?

Rj: He didn’t win. Dad won and told granddad that he won. It’s not the truth.

Ridge: He’s right, I did.

Zende: Guys, what is going on here?

Ridge: There’s no easy way of saying this. But you have to know.

Zende: What? Know what?

Ridge: My dad is dying.

Hope: It still doesn’t seem real. I– I can’t imagine forrester creations without him and I don’t want to.

Brooke: I know. I mean, eric has been a– a giant in the fashion world for decades. His impact will live on long after he’s gone. And forrester creations will be successful… but it won’t be the same. I mean, how could it? He’s the founder, the heart and soul of this company is not going to be with us anymore.

Hope: Well, he’s led by example. His kindness, his generosity. Everyone adores him.

Brooke: He’s so sweet. I mean, he has been there for me, you know, stood by me when I didn’t even deserve it. No judgment whatsoever. It’s just gonna be heartbreaking and, you know, to think of this world without eric forrester in it.

Hope: Mom. Come here.

Brooke: Oh, honey. [ Sobs ]

Zende: No. No, you’re just saying that to justify rj getting to work with him.

Ridge: Yeah. That would be really nice. It’s true. My– my dad is dying.

Zende: From the moment I was adopted… he accepted me. He welcomed me with wide open arms. He, uh…

[ Sobbing ] He always encouraged me. He pushed me to be a better man, a better designer. I wanted to be like him. I wanted to be just like him. And now you’re telling me we’re gonna lose him? We’re gonna lose granddad? I want to see him. I have to see him. I gotta–

Ridge: You can’t do that.

Zende: What– what do you mean, I can’t see him? Why?

Ridge: He doesn’t want anyone to know. Donna, katie and luna know.

Zende: Luna?

Ridge: We gotta respect his wishes. Tell me that you understand that.

Zende: Of course. I won’t say anything to him. Uncle. [ Sobs ]

Ridge: I know.

Zende: But… I love him so much.

Ridge: I know that too. He loves you. Come here.

Donna: How are you feeling?

Eric: I’d feel a lot better if you’d bring me that martini.

[ Donna scoffs ]

Eric: [ Laughs ] Hey, I thought that would get a smile out of you. I just made a joke, you know. It’s okay to– it’s okay to laugh and joke a little bit. It’s okay. What’s not okay is for you to be crying and mourning like this. I’m not– I’m not 6 feet under yet, you know.

Donna: Don’t say things like that. Stop saying things like that. My god.

Eric: Okay. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I scared you. I’m sorry.

Donna: Listen to doctor, eric, and just go to the hospital, get those tests, get whatever test they need.

Eric: Stop it, donna. Stop it. I would do any kind of treatment, I would go to the doctor, I would go through anything if it meant I could spend some more time with to you. But I’m not gonna live my life like that. And under– under– under that kind of treatment. I’m not gonna do it. I won’T. Okay? Now… I’m gonna go on with my life. I’ve gotta live and laugh. And– and– and love. We’re gonna have a party.

Donna: I– I don’t want a party, eric. Can’t you see this is breaking my heart? I don’t want a party.

Eric: Okay.

Donna: Please stop.

Eric: Stop it. Stop it. Look at you. I wanna see a– I wanna see a smile on your face, please. Please, donna, look. Look at me. Can you smile? Because when I see this other face of yours, it– it makes me sad too. And it makes me realize.

Donna: What?

Eric: It makes me realize how much I’m gonna miss you. I’m gonna miss you so much.

[ Donna sobbing ] You come here. Come here.

Donna: Oh.

Eric: You’re okay.

Donna: Oh, no.

Eric: You’re okay.

[ Donna crying ]

Ridge: Okay. [ Sobbing ]

Danny: Bills, bills, bills and more bills.

Christine: Actually, today is mostly junk.

Danny: Yay. A reprieve.

Christine: What are you up to?

Danny: Well, I just finished the last minute touches on the song that we collaborated on. You know, in the lounge the other day.

Christine: Yeah, I– I remember, believe me. But uh, yeah, there wasn’t much collaborating. You pretty much did it all.

Danny: Oh, no, no. You definitely contributed to the process.

Christine: I’m a woman of many talents but, um, writing music is not one of them.

Danny: No, no, you’re an excellent muse. And that is a genuine talent.

Christine: So, how’s it coming along?

Danny: Well, you be the judge of it. I recorded a demo upstairs.

Christine: Are you– wait. I am so excited to hear it.

Danny: Yeah. Well, you could be the first. You know, one condition.

Christine: Yeah, with you there’s always a catch.

Danny: I’m starved. Have an early lunch or what? Late breakfast or whatever you wanna call it.

Christine: You drive a hard bargain, romalotti.

Danny: Is that a yes?

Chelsea: Hm. Who knew there were so many ways to evade a very simple question.

Summer: No, I’m just not that big on hypotheticals is all.

Chelsea: Oh, come on. Isn’t that what design is? You start with an idea, you turn it into a sketch. People react, you revise it until you finally get it right. I mean, every step of the process is a hypothetical dress. Is it not?

Summer: Okay, but you can’t design your future. Life happens. Priorities change. Outside forces get in the way.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: Why dream about what a future with chance may look like if you might not get it.

Summer: Chelsea, please. Stop.

Chelsea: No, I saw the way you looked at him. The look on your face when he left earlier. It’s obvious that you’re interested. Wait. Is it way past that?

Phyllis: Hey, look who it is.

Summer: Hi, mom.

Phyllis: Good morning, chelsea.

Chelsea: Phyllis.

Phyllis: Am i interrupting something?

Summer: No. No, we were just talking marchetti business. And those sketches are great. You can just take those and run with them.

Chelsea: Fabulous. Thank you.

Phyllis: Marchetti business? Mm. Looked a lot more intimate than that.

Summer: I think you’re imagining things.

Chelsea: Okay. Well, I gotta go. Lots to do. Phyllis, always lovely seeing you. We’ll talk later.

Phyllis: What’s going on? You’re not still shutting me out, are you?

Summer: No.

Phyllis: Summer. The fact that you don’t trust me enough to be honest and truthful with me, that kills me. Honestly, it hurts.

Billy: I had no idea you were in town. When did you get in?

Jill: Well, I wasn’t ghosting you, if that’s what you’re suggesting.

Billy: Good to see you too, mother.

Jill: Oh, for heaven’s sake, darling. There were some things I had to get done right away and now that I have a little breathing room, I’m looking forward to talking with my son. Is that so terrible?

Billy: Not terrible at all? I’m glad you called. I’m looking forward to catching up with you as well.

Jill: Yeah, we didn’t have much chance to do that last time I was in town, did we? You were in crisis mode with jabot and I had some other issues I was dealing with.

Billy: Oh, yeah. Personal or business?

Jill: Um, business. Which brings me to let you in on something. I am positive that mamie johnson is trying to pull a fast one on me.

Victor: Would you sit down, my sweetheart?

Nikki: No, I– I– I– I’m okay. After everything, I– I’d rather stand.

Nick: Oh, boy. Well, that makes one of us.

Victor: Well, what an ordeal. Our family has gone through worse though. And these lunatics will be paying a price.

Victoria: Well, jordan has to be caught first.

Victor: Yeah. They will be. And when we do, I promise you, she’ll join claire in prison. That’s where they both belong. I love that my daughter still needs me.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Nikki: Here you are, darling.

Nick: Thanks, mom.

Victor: Would anyone else like a drink?

Victoria: Yeah. I’ll– I’ll take some water. I’ll get it.

Victor: Cole, how about you?

Cole: Oh, victor, as much as I could use a bourbon, the doc said to stay away from alcohol for the next few days on account of that poison we were all given, so…

Nick: We’re just lucky there was an antidote or we’d all be dead right now. I still have no idea what those women were after.

Nikki: I don’t know that they knew themselves.

Cole: Some sort of convoluted revenge for some things that never actually happened.

Victoria: Well, they seemed to enjoy seeing us terrified and at their mercy.

Nikki: Oh, yes, they did.

Victor: My sweet baby. When I think of what they put you through. This woman you trusted lures you out to that god-forsaken place and then they use you as bait to get us to come follow you.

Victoria: Mom, when we learned what they had done to you, forcing liquor into your veins and trying to keep you subdued. I mean, it’s just heartbreaking.

Nick: I mean, they somehow knew about your history and took advantage. It’s vicious.

Nikki: All right. Please, let’s not all dwell on what happened to me. We all suffered. We were all victims. And now that the vodka has left my system, I am feeling much stronger.

Victoria: Mom.

Nikki: Darling, please. I appreciate your concerns, but I will be fine. Those women tried to break me and they couldn’T.

Victor: Of course, they couldn’t, my sweetheart. You’re a strong woman.

Nikki: Really, the worst part of this for me is realizing that I fell for claire’s deception. How could I have been such a fool?

Victor: I promise all of you, and you, my darling, in particular, those two women will pay for what they have done. They’ll pay a big price. I promise you.

Victoria: Well, I almost feel sorry for claire.

Victor: Why?

Victoria: She’s been trained by jordan to hate us and her whole life is ruined now.

Nikki: Victoria, she is a heartless sociopath. How can you feel anything but contempt for her?

Jill: If my instincts are correct, I may be looking forward to a full-on attack.

Billy: From mamie?

Jill: From mamie.

Billy: What could mamie possibly threaten you with?

Jill: You do know she’s rich now, don’t you?

Billy: So what? Turns out she’s good at business or she knows how to play the stock market or she’s on a hot streak.

Jill: A hot streak for the last 20 years.

Billy: Mom, why do you think she’s coming after you?

Jill: Maybe you also didn’t know that our dear mamie has aligned herself with tucker mccall.

Billy: Meaning what?

Jill: Meaning figure it out, billy.

Billy: Everyone knows tucker’s a shark. Why would she do something so foolish?

Jill: Mamie can be very duplicitous herself. If she’s gonna make a move on me, tucker mccall would be a great ally, wouldn’t he?

Billy: So, I guess the question is, what does tucker get out of this?

Jill: Well, I’m assuming that tucker wants to take my company, chancellor-winters, away from me. And mamie wants her family running the company. So, darling, my question to you is, and I want you to be really straight with me, how content are you working at jabot right now?

Summer: Mom, can we do this another time?

Phyllis: No, I would like to clear the air, okay? I mean, I thought things were getting better between us.

Summer: They are.

Phyllis: Really? Uh, I don’t think so. I mean, the minute I ask about your personal life, you clam up. I mean, god forbid your mom would hear a tidbit of what’s happening in your world.

Summer: I’m sorry that you’re upset. It wasn’t intentional.

Phyllis: So, you and chelsea? Talking about marchetti business? Sitting– sitting like this. Up close. Chelsea asking you questions about your personal life. And then I walk in and both of you bolt up like this. “Oh, wow. Oh, mom heard something.” And then you lied to me. Seriously, summer?

Summer: That is not what I intended.

Phyllis: Is it about chance?

Summer: No. Look, you know what? I gotta get back to work.

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh. You’re doing this again. I can’t catch a break.

Summer: Mom, what do you want from me?

Phyllis: What do you want from me? That’s my question to you. What do you want from me? I’m working so hard to be a better person. I’m working so hard to change. And I am changing. Summer, I am. And I’m doing it for people that I love. You and your brother, I’m doing it for you. But, my daughter, of all people, who I’d go to the moon and back for, every time I come close to you, you put up a wall. I mean, how am I supposed to react to something like that? How am I supposed to respond to something like that?

Danny: So, what do you think?

Christine: It’s beautiful.

Danny: Like the lady herself. ()

Danny: Mm. What? What?

Christine: You really were hungry.

Danny: Do I still eat like a skinny kid at a smorgasbord?

[ Christine chuckling ]

Christine: I can’t believe you remember that?

Danny: Mind like a steel trap.

Christine: Speaking of which, your song is like, it’s right here in my head. I’m gonna be humming it all day.

Danny: That little bit I played you? It’s, um, um, I mean, it’s just an idea. Something wasn’t working and I– I couldn’t, for the life of me figure out what it was, but being with you, I suddenly got this push, and it, um, just all seemed to come together.

Christine: Well, if that’s the case, I’m really happy because the song was incredible. It– it really was.

Danny: Thank you. I was needing one more song to have enough material to go back into the studio, record a new album and judging by your reaction, um, this might be it.

Christine: Oh, that song has to go on the album. It’ll put it over the top.

Danny: Well, I owe you big time.

Christine: Okay. Well, hey, breakfast is on you.

Danny: Absolutely. But seriously, uh, thank you, cricket. Your, um, encouragement is everything. You know, coming back to genoa city, I– I’ve gotten this– this creative burst and between you and phyllis, I found the inspiration that I’ve been needing.

Christine: What? Phyllis has inspired you too?

Summer: Okay, look, I admit it. I did lie about my conversation with chelsea. And I’m sorry, okay? But it’s practically an instinct now and I imagine that it’s the same for daniel. Look, I– I’ll give you this. We shouldn’t do that. Because if you’re trying to earn back our trust, then we at least need to give you a chance to prove yourself, right?

Phyllis: A reasonable response. Thank you very much.

Summer: You’re welcome.

Phyllis: So, does this mean you’ll confide in me and you’ll take my advice? It’s about chance, right?

Summer: I told you that I am not going to pursue him.

Phyllis: Oh, I know you told me that, but it doesn’t– it doesn’t make you stop thinking about him. You know, and have feelings for him, possibly. I mean, the heart wants what it wants, right?

Summer: Okay. Fine.

[ Summer sighing ] I keep finding myself going back and forth between wondering if I should maybe try to work things out with kyle, eventually. And wanting chance so badly that it makes me dizzy sometimes.

Jill: Honey, suddenly I find myself outnumbered in my own company. I mean, devon and lily have been great partners, but you know, family love and loyalty could win out.

Billy: Mom, you are family. You’re the twins’ grandmother.

Jill: I am the twins’, honorary grandmother. Sometimes blood is thicker than water.

Billy: Ain’t that the truth?

Jill: Listen, when we merged the company, devon came in with winters, okay? And he and lily were understandably overjoyed about that. And I brought in chancellor. Their whole side of the business is about family. And now, they’re thinking of bringing nate in so he can redeem himself.

Billy: Nate? After the way he betrayed everyone last time?

Jill: Yes. And trust me, his blind ambition, it hasn’t gone anywhere. Plus, devon is tucker’s son.

Billy: And you’re on the other side, all alone?

Jill: Yes. So my only option is, I think I have to fight fire with fire. I have to bring in some of my own family into upper management.

Billy: Anyone in mind?

Jill: How about it, baby? Would you be willing to step away from jabot and come work with me at chancellor-winters?

Victor: I agree with your mother. That claire woman had a choice. She poisoned us, nearly killed us. I don’t think she deserves our compassion, at all.

Nick: She certainly gets no pity for me.

Victoria: Look, I’m not saying that I feel sorry for her exactly. But I mean, think about it. Think about how she was raised by this psychotic woman who’s old enough to be her grandmother. Who drummed it into her brain, all of these years that– that cole and I are her parents. That we abandoned her. Our whole family abandoned her when she was born and that we’re awful people. I mean, she’s had that drilled into her head all of these years. She’s learned to hate each and every one of us and plot her revenge. So, how is she not– wait, how is she also not jordan’s victim?

Nick: Look, I get what you’re saying, vic, but claire had choices to make and she chose wrong at every step.

Victoria: No, nick. She didn’t know any better. I mean, she’s been in jordan’s clutches practically since birth. She wasn’t– not equipped to make those decisions. Jordan is obviously the evil one. It’s not claire.

Nick: I mean, maybe. What do we even know about this supposed aunt? I mean, is she really eve howard’s sister?

Cole: Well, my mom did have a sister. And from what I know, they weren’t close. So, is jordan she? I don’t know.

Nikki: It’s strange that she would have kept such close tabs on eve’s personal life and then try to plan this revenge all these years later if they weren’t close.

Victor: No, wait a minute. I had my people check her out. Report just came in. We will soon find out what that woman is all about.

Mr. Clean magic eraser powers

through tough messes.

Nikki: What does it say, victor?

Victor: There’s a photograph. That woman is eve howard’s sister. Whoa. Same mother, different father. And she was a registered nurse.

Cole: So, it’s true. She is my aunt.

Nick: Probably the one thing she didn’t lie about.

Cole: Yeah. That– that much I did know. She was a traveling nurse. It was a fairly new thing back then.

Nikki: What else does it say?

Victor: Wow, this is interesting. She did register as a nurse at memorial for a short stint during the time that you gave birth to baby eve. And then she disappeared shortly after the baby died.

Victoria: That– that can’t be true. Jordan can’t be telling the truth about stealing our daughter, can she?

Jill: I realize this is a huge ask, okay? But if I am going to survive this onslaught that I see coming, you may be my only hope.

Billy: Hi.

Chelsea: Hi. I didn’t know I’d be seeing you here.

Billy: How are you?

Chelsea: I’m good.

Billy: Uh, yeah. I was just having little coffee with mom.

Chelsea: Aunt jill. It’s great to see you. How have you been?

Jill: Just fine, thank you.

Chelsea: Is this a bad time?

Jill: Yes.

Billy: No. In fact, your timing is perfect. My mother just made me a very interesting business proposition. One that I think you should hear.

Phyllis: Uh, I’m surprised that kyle’s still on your radar.

Summer: Well, I mean, yeah. He was the love of my life, you know. I really did think that that was gonna be forever. I can’t just turn it off.

Phyllis: Yeah. I know.

Summer: And then there’s harrison. I love him so much and I want to do what’s right for him too.

Phyllis: Yeah. That makes sense. It’s always more difficult when kids are involved.

Summer: Yeah.

Phyllis: You know, I’m– I’m a little surprised that you’re even wondering about this. I– I mean, I thought that you and kyle agreed that your marriage was unsalvageable.

Summer: Yeah. It probably is. I don’t know. Maybe this is just me trying to figure out what the right thing to do is. And maybe that is just an excuse to distract me from my feelings for chance.

Phyllis: What are those feelings? I mean, besides the chemistry? And by the way, let’s not belittle chemistry. It’s very important.

Summer: Yeah. I think that you actually once told me that it was the glue that held everything together when times get tough. Until it doesn’t, I guess.

Phyllis: We’re talking about chance, right? Not kyle?

Summer: Yeah. But what’s the point of talking about chance at all? He’s unattainable.

Phyllis: Oh, no, no. If I’ve learned one thing in my life and one thing only, is nothing is unattainable if you want it badly.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. 12 days of gifting

Summer: Wait, wait, wait. So, let me get this straight. Now you’re telling me to stop at nothing to get what I want? Didn’t the new and improved you just recently warn me against that kind of thing?

Phyllis: Yes. Yes. This is the thing. I don’t like seeing my daughter so torn up about this. About you worried about doing the right thing, as opposed to following your heart. I want you to follow your heart. You only get one shot in life, summer. It’s not a dress rehearsal.

Summer: I think I remember you saying that to dad in a fight one time. I, um, can’t remember who won that one.

Phyllis: I’m sure I did.

Summer: Look, mom, this, uh, dilemma of mine, it’s really not that bad. Seriously. I– I am so good. I’m focusing on work. I’m streamlining things over there. It’s– it’s for the best.

Phyllis: Okay. It’s for the best. I’m sure.

Summer: You don’t have to worry about me, okay? I– I honestly just divulged that much because you kind of backed me into a corner.

Phyllis: All right. I understand. You know, I just want you to know I care. That’s all. And, I only brought this up because, uh, that’s what started the argument between us in the first place, so–

Summer: No, were we arguing?

Phyllis: No, but you just don’t want me meddling. It’s fine and I won’T. You come to me next time.

Summer: It sounds like a plan. Okay, enough about me and my love life, or lack thereof. What is going on with you? How are you and daniel getting along at omegasphere? Is there anything interesting going on in your personal life?

Phyllis: Well, funny you should ask.

Summer: Oh?

Phyllis: Yeah. Let’s grab lunch and I’ll tell you all about it, okay?

Danny: I can understand why this would surprise you.

Christine: I think that anything about that woman would inspire you enough to write something so amazing is…

[ Christine sighing ] Okay, I’m sorry. Look, I know, I know. She’s daniel’s mom and you’re making an effort to keep everything civil between everyone. I’m sorry.

Danny: There’s more to it than that. The truth is, I– I’ve seen how phyllis is trying to be a better person. We’ve talked about it. And afterwards, I had this– this breakthrough, you know. I was struggling with this set of lyrics about forgiveness and fresh starts and then all of a sudden, it just sort of came together. So, I figure, give credit where credit is due.

Christine: Well, that’s just great. Now, I’m gonna have to share my cut of the royalties with phyllis.

[ Danny laughing ]

Danny: That’s funny. But really, um, it’s– it’s apples and oranges.

Christine: What do you mean?

Danny: Don’t go comparing yourself to phyllis because I don’T.

Cole: Honestly, I don’t know what to think. To brainwash a young girl for over a 20-year span, making her believe that she was an abandoned baby so that one day jordan could use her as a weapon against your family? And all of this was done because of my mother?

Victoria: But she had to know that it would devastate you too.

Nick: I mean, if she’s really your aunt. Does she have like some grudge against you or something?

Cole: Not that I’m aware of. I mean, this– I don’t understand any of this.

Nikki: If this is about eve, it is about victor and me. That woman was certifiable.

Cole: My mother, she struggled with mental illness most of her life. And she went through a lot of doctors and she was even committed at one point.

Victor: So, you think that jordan woman could have inherited your mother’s afflictions?

Victoria: What kind of sickness causes a person to concoct some convoluted lie and then force some other human being into believing it?

Cole: When jordan said that she had stolen our baby from the hospital, the look in claire’s eyes…

Victoria: She was shocked. Like her whole world had been shaken.

Cole: I don’t believe that this was a con on claire’s part. She’s convinced we’re her parents.

Victoria: It– it’s just– it’s not possible though, is it?

Nikki: Look, claire is a very smart young woman, brainwashed or not. I can’t believe that she didn’t question her aunt’s story at some point. Maybe even ask for a paternity test.

Victor: But wait a minute, that jordan woman is very smart. And she would have anticipated that. And I guarantee you that she would have come up with some kind of proof.

Nick: I agree. Crazy or not, she has a medical background, so she’s familiar with hospitals and paperwork.

Victoria: Okay. Just stop. Just… we’re talking about this as if it could be true. Like claire could be ours and jordan stole her. So, then– then, what baby died? I just– I– I’m sorry, I can’t wrap my brain around any of this.

Cole: Nikki, let me. I need to speak with her in private.

Your heart is

the beat of life.

Billy: My mother is curious how things are going at jabot since she wants me to resign and join her at chancellor-winters.

Chelsea: Oh, well, that’s major. I thought that you meant it was like a side venture or something?

Billy: No. Not a side venture. In fact, I was just about to say how surprised I am by the proposal because I had a rocky road with lily while I was there.

Jill: Yeah. But that is ancient history. Given all the success you’ve had at jabot, I am convinced that you’re finally learning from your mistakes.

Billy: Wow. Okay. I mean, it’s backhanded, but I’ll take it.

Chelsea: I think she’s being sincere.

Billy: Yeah. Sincere, huh?

Jill: I’m absolutely being sincere. In this past year, you’ve made tremendous headway. You’ve really come into your own in so many ways.

Billy: I actually agree with you. I know what I’m doing and I’m making the right decisions.

Chelsea: From my vantage point, you’re definitely in charge at jabot.

Jill: Okay. So, here’s a question. How are you enjoying working with jack? You know, because the rest of us find him pretty insufferable most of the time. And I just wondered if you have a good relationship with him?

Billy: You know I do, okay? He’s my brother. I owe him everything.

Jill: Everything? Well, you may believe that. I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. But my question to you is, are you willing to leave him and join forces with me?

Nikki: Gentlemen, can I get you anything else?

Victor: No, sweetheart. Nothing.

Nick: No. I’m good. I think you’re right. I just need to get some food in me.

Nikki: Well, you both have been through a terrible ordeal.

Nick: What about you, mom? You had it way worse. Those two had you trapped in that room for days before we got there.

Nikki: I still feel very guilty.

Victor: Why?

Nikki: Just the way I fell into this nightmare and then pulled all of you in with me. I should have seen the signs.

Nick: Mom, come on. Nobody did.

Victor: Sweetheart, that woman was a very clever woman. Okay? And if anyone is to blame for this, I’m looking at myself.

Nikki: You?

Victor: Yeah.

Nikki: You were merely told that I was sick. You came to bring me home.

Victor: Mm. You’re forgetting one thing, my past with eve howard, okay? She targeted me at the time. Remember that?

Nikki: Yes. And now, we’re all targets. Do you think that jordan was telling the truth? That claire could be victoria and cole’s daughter?

Victoria: This is just all so unsettling.

Cole: I just can’t believe it happened.

Victoria: I know. The way that we were brought together, all of us, under such bizarre circumstances. How did you even know to show up at that house?

Cole: I got a text from nikki saying that you were sick and asking for me.

Victoria: My mom? That’s not… oh, yes. Her phone. That was probably after jordan had her incapacitated.

Cole: I was in L.A. Researching a book and I flew up to oregon and I stepped right into the trap.

[ Victoria sighing ]

Victoria: Yeah. We all did. We’re talking around it, cole.

Cole: I know.

Victoria: We were so young. And eve was just so weak. She was so– so frail. She needed to fight. Obviously, she couldn’T.

[ Victoria sighing ] When she didn’t make it…

Cole: I don’t think either of us was ever the same.

Victoria: Do you know the loss of a child? That’s just not something that you ever get over. And here it is again, being thrown in our faces in the most painful and brutal way imaginable.

Cole: Whatever closure that we might have gotten over the years, that’s been ripped apart.

Victoria: I know. Oh, god, all we have now are questions. We don’t have any answers. Do you think it’s possible that claire is our daughter that we only thought we buried?

Whenever you’re hungry,

Christine: So, that was fun. Grabbing something to eat, listening to your new song, knowing that there’s a whole new album of them coming out. How long has it been?

Danny: Way too long, unfortunately.

Christine: I agree. I agree. There needs to be more beauty in the world and joy and more reasons to get out and dance.

Danny: You know, you’re making me want to book that studio right now and start recording.

Christine: You should. You should go.

Danny: What time is it?

Christine: But you know, one thing and this is gonna sound like such a groupie, but can you send me that song so I can listen to it again?

Danny: Yeah, of course.

Christine: Okay. Oh, what’s– what’s it called, by the way?

Danny: “Hawaii on my mind?”

[ Christine sighing ]

Christine: That’s the perfect title.

Billy: Look, truth is I am happy at jabot, okay? Yes, jack and I, we– we have our struggles. There’s no doubt about that. You add in kyle and he’s been very clear that he wants his old job back. There are challenges.

Chelsea: That’s putting it mildly.

Billy: But I’ve stuck around long enough to make sure that tucker does not get his hooks into my family’s company. And he is just as much a threat to jabot as you think he may be to chancellor-winters.

Jill: Really? Um, jack has ashley. And kyle and diane. I have no one. I need you, billy.

Victor: We need more information before we accept anything that jordan woman says as fact. She’s a liar.

Nick: A dna test would be a good start.

Victor: Of course, we have to make sure that we put them behind bars. We can worry about the rest later.

Nikki: Victoria must be reeling, being forced to remember that time.

Nick: I remember the day vic and cole had to say goodbye to their little girl.

Nikki: It’s been difficult enough lately with her thinking that you had lost faith in her at newman. Now this. It’s enough to make anyone act out.

Cole: I wish I had answers, but I don’t know any more than you do. Maybe jordan’s lying.

Victoria: And if she’s not lying? Maybe she’s not. But until the police arrest her and start an investigation, I mean, I guess none of us will know what’s real.

Cole: Well, if, what jordan claims is actually true, and that’s a great big if, then claire grace could be our premature baby all grown up. We need to find out one way or the other. And I think that starts with facing claire again.

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

[sighs]

[somber music] I can’t believe I’m going through with this. But Sloan is right. If I want to guarantee Leo’s freedom, I have to turn myself in. I just never imagined that I would ever sacrifice this much for someone else.

[sighs] I must really love you, Leo Stark.

[knocking on door]

[tense music] Who the hell could that be? No, no, no, no. I was careful. It couldn’t be the cops.

[knocking continues]

Dimitri von Leuschner, open up. I know you’re in there.

I just spoke with Dimitri von Leuschner, and he’s willing to turn himself in, EJ, ,::, as long as you drop all charges against Leo Stark.

[suspenseful music]

You just spoke with him? Well, where the hell is he?

It’s irrelevant, don’t you think?

It is if you’re harboring a fugitive.

I’m not harboring anybody. Mr. von Leuschner is my client, and as I just said, he’s happy to turn himself in. All you have to do is just sign some paperwork.

I can’t believe it. I was certain he was halfway across the world by now.

Hey, genius. You’re not helping your case, okay? So what do you say, Mr. DiMera? Shall we take this conversation outside?

[sighs]

Just fill this out when you can and return it, and I’m sure we’ll find something for you.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

Yep. you got it. All right, I’m gonna head back to the Pub.

Uh, wait. You–you can’t go back yet.

Why not?

Why not? Be–because, um, uh…

[tense music]

You know, actually, um, I’m glad you’re here.

Yeah. Does, uh–does that mean you forgive me for acting like a total idiot the last time we saw each other?

I do, but on one condition.

Name it. I need you to help me break up Johnny and Chanel.

Because there’s, um– there’s something I need to tell you.

[country music playing]

Okay, so let me get this straight. Eric agreed to let you run a DNA test on his baby to prove that he’s not our little brother?

Kind of bizarre, I know.

Yeah, I mean, it’s more sad than bizarre, actually. I mean, I– I just feel so bad for your mom. And for my dad too, of course. But this is going to crush Nicole when she finds out.

Yeah, I know. But maybe it’s still for the best?

Yeah.

[sighs] Yeah, maybe. I mean, at least now this will force her to face reality.

[sighs] I don’t believe this. I–I’m about to have proof that the baby’s mine.

We should know soon.

Yeah, pretty quickly, right? Oh, gosh, my heart is– is beating so hard right now. Oh, Eric, I’m–I’m so sorry.

For what?

Well, I’m just going on and on about how excited I am to get the results, and I’m thinking about no one but myself. And there’s nothing new there, right?

Thank you, but it’s okay.

No, it’s not okay, because if it turns out that this little boy is mine… That means that he’s not yours.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[soft music]

Oh, Eric, I’ve been so caught up in my own loss, I didn’t even think about what this is doing to you.

No, Nicole, you’re– you’re grieving. You don’t need to worry about me.

Yes, I do. You’ve been so kind to me, and–and you always put everyone before yourself. And I can’t expect you to be selfless now. I–

I just– I just want you to have peace of mind.

But what about you? I know how much you’ve always wanted a child, how much you’ve wanted to be a father. And I’m so sorry, because I should know more than anyone what this must be doing to you. And from the bottom of my heart, I thank you, because it means the world to me that you would allow us to do this test.

It’s not actually hard for me.

Why?

Because I don’t believe my baby is your son.

All right, let me be clear with you, Ms. Petersen. I have no interest in making any deals with Dimitri, not while we have Leo Stark in custody. I believe you’re familiar with the phrase, “A bird in the hand”?

Oh, come on. Who wants a bird in the hand when you can have the whole Christmas goose?

But there’s no assurance of that, is there, given how unreliable the guy has proven to be? What makes you so sure Dimitri will even show?

Let’s just call it gut instinct.

[scoffs]

Yeah, that when I say show up, he’ll be here. Oh, come on, EJ. You know this is a good deal. Dimitri’s the big fish here. Leo’s the little guppy.

[tense music]

[sighs] Your mixed metaphors aside, you actually make a good point. Dimitri was the man behind the wheel. He’s the one who should pay the price for my son’s murder.

Murder? No, no. I’m afraid that’s off the table.

[knocking on door]

Mm. Oh, the cops, they found me.

Relax. I’m not the cops. But I will call them if you don’t open the damn door.

[mysterious music]

Who the hell are you?

Well, I’m none other than Darius Rose, of course. Looking dusted as usual. We’ve met before, Miss Thing. Oh, come on, don’t tell me you don’t remember.

I don’t remember.

[scoffs] That’s odd. I’m usually so memorable. Oh, I know. It’s because the last time we met, we were both in drag.

Oh. No, uh…

[laughs] You’re mistaken. I have never done drag, I assure you.

I may have been the one in sequins, but you were definitely cosplaying in that G-Man get-up, “Agent Graham.”

Oh, now I remember. Yes, you were trying to get between me and Billie Reed in Arizona. Jackie Cox, right?

Ms. Cox will suffice. And now that you know to whom you are speaking, you may want to show a little respect, considering I’m your ticket to freedom.

I know it might sound like bragging, but that bracelet looks really cool on you.

Oh, yeah, it does, because it’s awesome.

[laughs] I’m so glad you like it.

Of course. Yeah. And honestly, I’m not a big jewelry wearer, but this one’s special, so thank you again.

[country music playing] And hey, I think we might have a few minutes before Chanel comes back.

Yeah?

There’s something I want to talk to you about, but Chanel can’t find out.

I’m all ears.

Okay? So what did you need to tell me?

[tense music]

Uh, it–it’s about why I asked you for this– for this job.

Yeah, you said it was because you needed to pay off some of the damages that you caused at your school.

Right, um, but I wasn’t being exactly truthful about all that. See, my dad, he’s forcing me to hand over everything I make at the Brady Pub to pay back those damages. So I was–I was thinking, by taking this second job, I could make some cash for myself, you know?

That’s what you had to tell me?

Yeah.

Yeah, I–I really don’t care what you do with your money, dude. None of my business. Just don’t open up a rival bakery, and we’re good.

Gotcha.

[laughs]

All right. Uh, I should get back to Johnny.

Uh–wait! Um, I was just thinking, those–the, uh– the oven that you have in there, it looks very complicated to operate. So I was wondering if maybe you could show me how it– how it works.

Okay, tell you what. Tell you what. You fill that application out, you bring it back, and then we’ll go over everything if I hire you. Okay.

[quietly] Crap.

Hmm. So you don’t think it’s possible that your son could be my baby? Why, Eric, because I’m crazy? Oh, there goes crazy old Nicole, at it again. So you’re trying to placate me so I don’t, what? Go stark raving mad?

No. Nicole, listen to me. After talking to my mom, she just–

Oh, goody. What did Mama Shrink have to say?

She said that after someone’s loss like that, it’s only natural that your mind can take a leap.

[somber music]

If you’re insinuating that my mind is playing tricks on me, you’re wrong. I know the child that I carried for months– the child that kept me up night after night because he was digging his foot in my rib, the child that actually enjoyed my singing voice– my son.

No, he’s not!

You weren’t there when he was born. You got there after the accident, after he was taken from me. You didn’t see him. You didn’t watch him take his first breath. You didn’t hold him. You didn’t feel his touch. I did! And I am telling you that this baby right here–this– this is my baby.

[phone ringing]

No murder charge? But you just said Dimitri was turning himself in.

Not for the baby’s death. Oh, don’t act so surprised. You know very well that it would be quite difficult, even with the most amenable judge, to make those felony murder charges stick.

So what exactly is your client confessing to? Unpaid parking tickets? Ah, jaywalking. Yes.

EJ, there are a host of crimes that you can happily charge him with that will put him away for a very long time, so don’t press your luck. My client was never gonna plead guilty to murder.

[tense music] Besides, he knew that he couldn’t be held accountable for what happened to your son. Look, this is a wonderful outcome for all concerned. Take the win, Mr. DiMera.

I’ll go draw up the papers.

My ticket to freedom, huh? What the hell are you talking about?

Oh, don’t play so innocent with me, honey buns. I’ve been keeping tabs on you from up in Canada and that scoundrel to whom I was foolish enough to pledge my troth.

Nothing better to do with your life than to stalk your exes?

Not when there’s a reward for capture placed on his head. And when I found out, I hightailed it on down to Salem to hunt the little SOB down. And wouldn’t you know? I caught you two little ghosts traipsing around the Horton Town Scare.

How the hell did you know it was us? We had bedsheets over our heads.

Please. I’d recognize Leo’s little sashay anywhere.

Mm.

But before I could rat him out, that little bastard got himself caught.

Oh, just for now. He’ll be released as soon as I turn myself in.

And that would be a gigundo mistake, Herr von Leuschner. In fact, that’s the very last thing you should do.

It’s all set. EJ is drawing up the papers as we speak.

[dramatic music]

Tell him to shred them. I don’t want the deal.

What do you mean you don’t want to take the deal? Did somebody cut off the oxygen supply in here, because you are talking crazy. You understand that once you sign on that dotted line, you’re a free man.

Yeah, but Dimitri won’t be. He’ll go to prison. I don’t think I can handle that.

[sighs] In fact, the very thought of it is making me want to cry and/or bite my nails to the quick, which I haven’t done since I was years old. And the only reason I stopped then is because my mother threatened to give me a buzz cut if I didn’t stop, and I really loved my long and lustrous hair, which I only ended up cutting eventually because it took so long to dry. And I know that I am rambling, but…

[panting] I am in quite a quandary right now, and I am very, very anxious.

[panting]

Would you just calm down, please? Can we do that? And think rationally. Look, Leo. Dimitri wants to give this to you. In fact, he’s determined.

[soft music]

So you weren’t playing me? Dimitri is willing to go to prison so that I could go free?

He’s insisting on it.

[scoffs] I don’t believe it. Nobody has ever done anything that selfless for me before.

Well, obviously, he loves you very much.

I can’t let him sacrifice his freedom for me.

Look, Leo, I know that this situation isn’t ideal. But as your lawyer, if somebody loves you this much and they want to give a gift like this to you, do the gracious thing and accept it.

So, you see, you don’t need to turn yourself in, ’cause I can help get your cute little tushie out of here.

How? What is this ticket to freedom you keep mentioning?

I can guarantee you safe passage to Canada. Granted, it’s not as glamorous as Alamainia, but still safely outside the Salem PD’s jurisdiction.

But why? I mean, why not just turn me in and take the reward?

I only wanted the reward when it was for that little creep who has your heart for some reason. God only knows why. But now it’s worthless to me. Besides, was I going to walk you into Salem PD with a bell on? No. I’m offering to help you because I loathe and detest Leo Stark, and with good reason.

[tense music]

Weren’t you two married?

[laughs] Oh, yes, we were. And I–I’m still suffering from debilitating PTSD from our marriage. In fact, the mere thought of that two-faced walking Poochie print gives me terrible acid reflux. Did Leo never tell you about our marriage?

Not in detail, no.

[laughs] Well, let me fill you in. Leo was supposed to get me a green card, but our marriage fell through and I got deported all because he fell for our mark, Dr. Craig Wesley.

[sighs] We had the perfect scam going, and he ruined it for that alta cocker closet case– alta cocker meaning elderly, in case you’re not familiar with Yiddish.

Uh, yes. Thank you. I–I’m not. But, um, perhaps this Dr. Wesley’s life was a bit more complicated than you thought.

Oh, I get it. You’re sympathetic to the old fool because you had a beard of your own.

[sighs] But anyway, the point is, you may think Leo Stark loves you. Believe me, I did once too. But he’s playing you just like he plays everyone else. So while you’re sitting in prison rotting away, getting eyed up by your fellow inmates as their next tasty snack, Leo will have moved on to his next mark. So take my advice. Don’t become Ms. Patsy Holding-the-Bag. That’s not a bad drag name. But back to the burning question– why would you take the fall for that duplicitous little libertine when I can set you free?

So what did you want to talk to me about without Chanel?

[phone beeping]

Do you want to check that?

It’s probably just one of my friends causing drama or looking for some. You were saying?

Yes. Okay. So our wedding anniversary is coming up.

Our wedding anniversary?

Uh…

[laughs] Mine and Chanel’s.

Yeah. Uh, right.

[laughs] Uh, wait. Aren’t you divorced?

Yes, but that never should have happened. And since we’ve been lucky enough to get this second chance, I just wanted to do something to celebrate our wedding day.

[soft music playing] And I just was hoping that you would, I don’t know, be willing to help me out.

[chuckles] Why me?

Well, you know us both pretty well. I could definitely use a woman’s touch. And I just–I think you’d be the perfect person to help me plan this surprise.

[scoffs] Of course. It’d be my pleasure to help. So when do we start?

Hopefully soon. You are the best. Thank you very much.

Johnny. Hi.

Hey!

Holly.

There you are. How’d it go at the bakery?

[smooches]

Uh, okay. Um, Tate–I–I gave him an application, and he was hellbent on checking out my ovens for some reason.

Well, as long as he wasn’t checking you out…

[laughs] I guess that’s all right.

Thanks a lot.

Drama with your friends?

Something like that.

[phone ringing]

Uh… Oh, that is, uh, my sister, Sydney. I’ll be right back.

[phone beeps]

Holly. I’m glad we have a minute alone.

Hi. What’s up?

What’s up is that I know all about your little crush.

Nicole, you’re right. I did–I didn’t see your son, but how could I have managed to end up with him?

Easy. Your wife probably stole him.

What? How could she have done that?

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe the same way Eli and Lani’s twins were snatched out from under everyone’s noses. Hell, some psycho nurse rolled Abe right out of here without anyone noticing. So maybe Sloan had someone on the inside, so when Dimitri brought the baby here– that someone. Or maybe even Sloan herself took him without anybody looking.

Whoa, whoa. Do you know how far-fetched that sounds?

Far-fetched?

Yes.

Far-fetched? If I’m capable of it, so is your conniving little wife.

Whoa.

You know–

[sighs]

[groans]

You know what? Instead of speculating how all of this happened, we’ll just wait for the DNA test, and then the truth will come out.

Yes, we can agree on that.

Great. You know, and speaking of the test, I thought Kayla was gonna put a rush on them.

You know, why don’t I go ask?

Thank you. I appreciate that. And I will stay and watch the baby.

No, no, no. You know what? Thank you, but you know what? I think I’m gonna take him with me.

[groans] I have never been so conflicted in my entire life. And the love of my life wants to do this for me, but then I will never see that gorgeous man with the magical body part that I am too polite to mention in mixed company because he’ll be behind bars.

[tense music] Fine. I’ll do it.

[panting]

[sighs]

You’re making the right choice, Leo. I’ll text Dimitri now.

[phone ringing] Oh. I have to take this. Just–

[phone beeps] Eric?

Hey. Hey, I know you’re busy with a client, but um, there’s something that you need to know.

What? What’s going on?

Um, I’m at the hospital.

Is everything okay with the baby?

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He’s fine. It’s just that, um, I asked my Aunt Kayla to run a DNA test on him so we can prove to Nicole that he’s not her son.

[dramatic music]

[scoffs] You know about my crush? What crush? On who?

Holly, don’t play dumb with me.

“Don’t play dumb”? What the hell, Chanel? Where is this coming from? Wait. Did Tate say something to you?

No. No. And you don’t have to get defensive, because it is very obvious whenever you and me and Johnny are together. I’ve seen it with my own eyes that you are smitten. And hey, I get it. He is a great guy, and the two of you have been spending so much time together since your mom got married to his dad. But I think that you know that you two could never be together because, well, one, he’s way too old for you, and two, there’s the whole ick factor with him being your stepbrother, and three, he’s taken, by me.

Chanel, I don’t know what you think you’ve seen, but you’re way off base. I–I don’t have a crush on Johnny.

Oh, no? Then why did you ask if Tate said anything?

Because… I have a crush on Tate.

Hypothetically speaking, if I were to go forward with your plan, how would it work?

A dear friend is waiting with a car nearby. You say the word, and it’s zoom-zoom, right to the Canadian border.

Darius, there’s a statewide manhunt out for me. I cannot just “zoom-zoom” out of town. They’ll recognize me.

Don’t worry, darling. That’s all taken care of.

[mysterious music] You see, the police will be looking for Dimitri von Leuschner, not Diane von Fabulous. Oh, come on. It’s not your color? It’s the best I could do on short notice.

No, no. It’s, uh–it’s fabulous. It’s just, I’m– I guess I’m wondering… why go through all this trouble for me?

Haven’t I made my point clear? This isn’t for you. This is against loathsome, lying, lecherous, licentious, “L Word”-watching, left-leaning– and that’s his only good quality–Leo.

[sighing] I gave that man some of the best years of my life– not to mention taught him every trick he knows in the sack. You’re welcome, by the way.

Darius, I am so sorry about what happened between you and Leo, but I know him. And I love him, and I know he loves me.

Enough with the schmaltz. Leo used to love me too. And he betrayed me and left me at the drop of a hat for another man. Leo deserves to get screwed just like he screwed me. And the best place for him to get screwed… is in prison.

You are running a DNA test on our child?

I tried to tell you, but you took off before I could.

That does not change the fact that you are having a completely unnecessary medical procedure done on our baby.

Sloan, it’s not hurting him. It–there’s no harm at all.

No harm? You are letting your grieving ex-wife actually think that we believe this ridiculous theory?

Which is why I agreed to the test, to prove to Nicole once and for all that our son is not hers.

You know, we shouldn’t have to prove anything to anyone, especially not to her.

Sloan, this is a good thing. Nicole is gonna finally hear the truth and have to accept it. You know as well as I do how those test results are gonna turn out.

Sloan, listen. I have to go. Those test results are gonna be ready any minute, okay? I love you. Bye.

[phone beeps]

[somber music]

[sighs]

[phone beeps]

Everything okay?

I have to go.

You’re leaving?

I’m sorry, it’s an emergency.

What about my deal?

[scoffs] As soon as EJ shows up with the paperwork, you wait till Dimitri’s here, and then sign on the dotted line. You’re a free man.

Doesn’t my lawyer need to be present for this?

Leo, do you want to get the hell out of here or not?

Okay, girl. Don’t bite my head off.

[sighs] Leo, you are getting a second chance. It’s a done deal. And if I don’t leave right now, my life’s going to be over.

So what’s the plan, Diane?

[sighs]

Are you going to be my plus-one to the Great White North, or are you gonna let yourself get “cock-holded” like I was?

I think you mean “cuckold.”

Whatever. Anyway, the point is…

[phone beeps] Leo doesn’t have a loyal bone in his body.

Hold that thought.

Let me guess, your prison-bound lover?

No, my lawyer.

[tense music] The DA took the deal. I can free Leo if I turn myself in.

So what? You haven’t signed anything yet. You can still back out. Are you really going to spend the best years of your life rotting away in prison for some grifter all because you sacrificed yourself in the name of love? Or are you and I gonna drive off in search of Julie Newmar? What’s it going to be?

Well, if you have a crush on Tate, then why were you so concerned that he might have said something to me?

Uh, well, because– because I told him not to tell a soul. And I’m pretty raw from it all, quite honestly.

Why? Did he reject you?

Yeah. I–I mean, no, not really. Look–look, when I told Tate how I felt, he told me, since– since he’s in big trouble for what he did at his school, that his dad won’t let him have much of a social life, which includes dating.

[sighs] Hello.

[laughs]

Tate. Hi. We were just talking about you.

[laughs] Hey, Tate. I was just telling Chanel about my crush on you.

Oh.

Yeah, but how we can’t be together because of your dad and his annoying rules.

Hey, guys.

[sighs] Uh, sorry. My sister just wanted an update on my dad to see how he was doing. Um, what’s up? What’s–what are you guys– what are you guys talking about?

[mysterious music]

[tense music]

[phone ringing]

All right. Everything seems to be in order. Where the hell is Sloan?

Uh, she had to step out for an emergency. Is that my deal?

Yes. But I assume you would want your lawyer to look it over before you sign it.

No, I’m good. Just this once, I am going to trust a DiMera. So does this mean I am free to go?

Only when your boyfriend shows up, which I sincerely doubt…

O ye of little faith.

Hello, my love.

[inhales sharply] Oh, well. It was worth a try.

[inhales sharply] Hmm. Oh. Looks better on me anyway.

[inhales sharply] Hmm.

[sighs] Johnny…

[laughs] You might as well know, um, I was just telling Chanel about my crush on Tate, but how we can’t be together.

Oh, well, I’m sorry to hear that. That’s…

Yeah, well, it’s because of Tate’s dad. He won’t let him date because of what he did at his school.

Not true. We can date.

What? What about your dad?

What about him? I mean, I don’t care what he thinks, at least, uh, not anymore.

[sighs]

[dramatic music]

Nicole. Hi. Uh, where’s Eric? Hmm?

He went over to get the baby’s DNA test results. Wow, you sure ran over here like a bat out of hell. You worried that the jig is up?

I am not quite sure what you mean.

Oh, you’re not? Save it. You think you outsmarted me, but I’ve been to this rodeo before, and the truth is gonna come out.

[door opens]

Sloan.

Hey.

[scoffs] I–I–I had to come over here, because you have to put a stop to this immediately.

See, she doesn’t want the test done, because she knows that that baby is mine.

No! I am refusing to go along with this because I never gave my consent to run a DNA test on our baby, Eric.

I’m sorry, but it’s a little too late for that. I’ve got the test results right here.

[gasps]

Days Nitpicks & Flubs For The Week Of November 27, 2023

Nitpicks & Flubs

by Michele & Cheryl

Nicole

Monday

You would think Nicole wouldn’t want to hold a baby after losing her. It was convenient that she wanted to hold Eric’s baby since the baby is hers.

Rafe basically thought Dimitri wasn’t a criminal. Did he forget that he tried to kill his sister?

Jada managed not to see Stefan in the evidence room.

Tuesday

Doug was too tired to deal with the family for Thanksgiving, but Chad made the kids stay with him and Julie.

Theresa’s accent slipped when she talked to Alex. Theresa is American so she shouldn’t sound like Gwen.

Xander was holding a drumstick one minute and it was gone the next.

What kind of friend is Kayla? Why would she want Maggie left in the dark about the type of person Konstantin is.

Theresa was looking in Alex’s direction but didn’t see him walk in the room while she was talking to Konstantin.

Wednesday

Kayla acted as if Steve had a reason to lie about Konstantin. He doesn’t gain anything by exposing Konstantin for his lies.

Thanksgiving was last week, but they were still talking about it.

Alex and Theresa were with Maggie and were suddenly at the town square the next.

Alex was supposed to punch Xander, but he clearly didn’t hit him.

Thursday

Sloan was supposed to go to the station, but she went to see EJ.

Eric told Marlena that she could check on the baby, but she said that you shouldn’t disturb a sleeping baby. She said she would peek at the baby. She didn’t realize that’s the same thing Eric suggested.

There weren’t any covers on Alex’s couch when he and Theresa had sex. It suddenly appeared after they were together.

Friday

The actor playing Tate was clearly reading his lines while he was talking to Johnny and Chanel.

Chanel was wearing a big coat, but she was wearing shorts.

Days Opinions For The Week Of November 27, 2023

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Nicole

Nicole realized that Eric and Sloan’s baby was hers. She looked at the baby and immediately felt the maternal bond. We weren’t sure if she would feel that way immediately, but she surprised us. She held Eric’s baby for a few minutes and realized he was her baby. She was like a dog with a bone with her theory. Eric, EJ, and Sloan told her that the baby wasn’t hers. She wouldn’t believe them. We didn’t think the story would move that fast. Storylines like that usually stretch for months at a time. We’re pretty sure the writers will find a way to slow the storyline down, but we give them credit for moving it along the way they are. Arianne Zucker did a pretty good job with the material she was given. She made us believe she was a grieving mother. We were pleasantly surprised by her performance. The story was easily the best one of the week. Watching Nicole drive it home that Eric had her baby kept us glued to the screen.

Speaking of Nicole’s storyline. Holly showed that she’s more than just a lovesick teenager. She suggested that Eric get a DNA test done on the baby. Holly didn’t seem clever enough to come up with an idea that could help push the storyline alone. She went to Eric and asked him to get a DNA test done on the baby. He was willing to do it. You would think the adults in the storyline would have come up with the idea that could solve the problem. We aren’t psychics, but we know that Sloan will intercept the test, so Nicole won’t find out the truth about the baby. For now, we’ll be happy that someone was thinking in the storyline.

Since the baby storyline dominated the week, it makes sense for most of the article to focus on the baby storyline. Anyway, Dimitri figured out that Sloan took Nicole’s baby. He demanded that she clear Leo’s name or he would tell her the truth. Sloan came up with different excuses until she admitted that she had the baby. Dimitri wanted her to help Leo or else. We loved the look of panic on her face when she squirmed while he threatened her. She had to do whatever it took to help Leo, but she kept hitting dead ends. Sloan needed to get a reality check because it seemed like she was the good one at a point. She was the one who started everything in the first place. Now she must do everything Dimitri wants, or he will tell the truth. We don’t care for Dimitri, but he had her number. We will enjoy watching him blackmail her for as long as it lasts.

The DNA test was done this week. Eric took the baby to Kayla so she could do the procedure. We know that Sloan will do something to make sure that she isn’t busted right away. We have seen this happen so many times on the show that we already know that Sloan will get away with swapping the DNA results. She doesn’t know anything about fixing tests, but she will find a way to switch the results, so the story won’t end soon.

Why is everyone acting as if Steve has an axe to grind when it concerns Konstantin? He isn’t a schemer so his family and friends should trust him. He has no reason to lie about Konstantin. What does he gain from exposing him? What does Konstantin gain from lying? Konstantin has a reason to lie because he doesn’t want to get exposed. Maggie may as well paint gullible on her forehead when it concerns Konstantin. She believed every lie he told her. We want to see the look on her face when she realizes that Konstantin and Theresa schemed against her.

Chad must be reverting to his old ways. He schemed with Xander so he could get Everett fired from the paper. He thought that would keep Everett from Stephanie. His plan will blow up in his face because Everett has more time to spend with Stephanie. We won’t pretend to care about this storyline because we don’t. we see that Chad is acting like he’s the good one in the story when he’s not. Stephanie isn’t good either. She loves the fact that Everett is still in love with her. She enjoys the attention. Everett decided to call Gwen to find out why she fired him. He could easily figure out that Gwen sold Chad her half of the paper. Stephanie could also ask Everett to work for her. Chad’s plan could backfire on him.

Stephanie and Chad

Best Lines by Michele and Cheryl

Sloan: What are you doing here? Have you forgotten that you are a fugitive? I thought you were leaving town.
Dimitri: And I thought you were helping Leo. And I suppose our expectations don’t always align with reality.

Lee (to Harris): If you’re going to stand there and take potshots at me, please leave so I can mourn that sweet little and wallow in self-pity.

Leo: You didn’t happen to bring me a turkey dinner, did you? Or better yet a tofurkey? I consider myself a vegan at heart. You know just one that eats meat from time to time.

Jada: Nope. No turkey or tofurkey. And I’m afraid, Leo. You’re the one whose goose is cooked.
Leo: I do love a clapback with some spicy wordplay.

Jada: You’re not the one we want. We want the big fish.
Leo: Now I’m insulted on top of everything else. Are you saying I’m not a big fish?

Sloan (about taking Nicole’s baby) I didn’t plan to take him.
Dimitri: You know I’ve actually used that line when I was caught shoplifting at the mall and that excuse didn’t even work for a pair of rollerblades.

Dimitri (to Sloan): You think telling me that you didn’t plan to steal a baby somehow exonerates you?

Steve: (about Konstantin): It looks like Maggie’s friend has an allergy.
Kayla: An allergy?
Steve: To the truth.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Days of Our Lives logo

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Holly called Eric to see if he would do the DNA test. He agreed to do it, but he wanted to talk to Sloan first. Sloan walked in the room and wanted to know what he wanted to say. Eric got off the phone with Holly so he could talk to Sloan. He told her about his conversation with Holly. Eric was about to tell her about the DNA test when Dimitri texted her. Dimitri wasn’t happy that the charges weren’t dropped the way he wanted. She told Eric that she had to leave. She told him that whatever he wanted to do to convince Nicole the baby was theirs was fine with her. EJ told Nicole he would throw the book at Leo for his role in their baby’s death. She lied to him and said she didn’t think Eric and Nicole’s baby was theirs. She told Holly that she still believed Eric and Sloan’s baby was hers. Holly told her about the idea she had to get a DNA test done. Nicole was happy that Eric agreed to do it. She got her toothbrush for the test. Holly wanted to go with her when she received a text from Tate. Nicole said she could handle it alone.

Dimitri was upset with Sloan because Leo was still in jail. She told him that EJ wouldn’t drop the charges so she filed a motion so the judge could do it. Sloan got a message from the judge telling her the motion was denied. She apologized to Dimitri. Her apology wasn’t good enough for him so he called Nicole. He wanted to talk to her about her baby, but Sloan took his phone from him. She hung up the phone. Nicole tried to call him back, but Sloan declined the call. Sloan told Dimitri that she would get Leo out of jail. She suggested he turn himself in and he would be the only one getting charged. EJ arrived at the station and Leo offered his condolences. He told EJ that the baby was healthy when Dimitri took him to the hospital. EJ didn’t want to hear what he had to say and gladly told him the judge turned down the motion to drop the charges. He told Leo he could make the deal for him if he told him where to find Dimitri. Leo refused to turn on Dimitri. Sloan arrived and told EJ that Dimitri agreed to turn himself in so the charges would get dropped against Leo. Dimitri looked at a picture of Leo. He couldn’t believe he loved someone so much that he would sacrifice his freedom. There was a knock on the door. He didn’t know who it was. Eric brought the baby to the hospital to see Kayla. He asked her to run a DNA test on him. Eric told her what happened with Nicole. She agreed to do the test when Nicole arrived with her toothbrush. Nicole looked at the baby and smiled. Eric and Kayla were concerned. Kayla told them the test would be done in an hour.

Days Short Recap Thursday, November 30, 2023

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Days of Our Lives logo

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Dimitri called Sloan demanding to know why Leo was still in jail. She told him that she was busy with her son. He told her that she had to get Leo out of jail, or he would tell Nicole everything. She promised to do it. She hung up the phone and told Eric that she had a meeting with a client. Nicole and EJ arrived at the mansion when Holly showed up. She was about to leave them alone when Nicole stopped her. Nicole apologized to her for the way she talked to her. Holly understood why she did it. The bell rang so EJ left to answer it. After he left, Nicole told Holly that her baby was alive. She told Holly about her theory about Eric and Sloan’s new baby. Holly was skeptical about her theory. She was worried about Nicole. EJ opened the door to Sloan. She wanted to talk about Leo. Sloan asked him to drop the charges against Leo. She told him that Leo wasn’t responsible for his son’s death. EJ didn’t agree with her and wanted her to leave. EJ walked away from her, but she followed him inside. Nicole wanted to talk to her. She wanted to know where Sloan got her baby. Sloan told her that her baby wasn’t her son. She offered her condolences, but she was wrong about the baby. Nicole didn’t believe her. EJ ordered Sloan to leave. Nicole went after her, but Holly stopped her. Nicole yelled at EJ for letting Sloan leave. She ended up crying in his arms. Nicole felt bad for breaking down in front of Holly. They looked around and Holly was gone.

Konstantin told Maggie that he owed a loan sharks money in Greece, and they were responsible for the kidnapping. He thought they were trying to get him to pay by kidnapping the baby. Steve didn’t believe him, but Maggie was convinced. After Steve left, Maggie told Konstantin that she felt bad for him, but he had to leave because she couldn’t put her family in danger. She offered to pay for his hotel stay, flight and debt so he could pay the loan sharks. He wouldn’t have to worry about the loan sharks anymore. He tried to protest by telling her that he cared about her and didn’t want her money. She wanted him to take it and leave. Sloan met with Dimitri at the motel. He wanted to know what was going on with Leo. She told him Leo would be out of jail the next morning. He thanked her for helping Leo. Steve met with John at the town square. He told him about Konstantin. He didn’t believe Konstantin. He wanted to continue investigating him. Holly went to see Eric. She told him about Nicole’s theory about the baby. Holly didn’t know how to help her mother. She knew Nicole needed help. Holly asked Eric to do a DNA test on the baby to prove he wasn’t Nicole’s baby. Eric was skeptical about that, but she pleaded with him to do it.

Days Update Friday, December 1, 2023

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Johnny and Chanel have breakfast at the Brady Pub. Johnny suggests they do this more often now that Chanel finally found someone to replace Talia at the Bakery and will have more free time. Chanel assures that she plans to spend her time with him. Chanel asks Johnny about his bracelet. Johnny informs her that Holly made it for him and calls it cute. Chanel questions that and asks if he still doesn’t think Holly has a crush on him.

Holly is at home at the DiMera Mansion, holding a photo of Johnny as she thinks back to them eating together on Thanksgiving. Holly puts the photo down and tells herself to focus as she can’t sit around dreaming about Johnny all day when Nicole is struggling and needs her help.

Dimitri in his motel room and looks through the newspaper, saying that Sloan said she got Leo released so he looks for the article about it but instead finds out that Leo is to be arraigned on murder charges and questions what the hell this is.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ tells Nicole that he’s off to make sure Leo is held responsible for their baby’s death. Nicole tells him to go do what he has to do. EJ wishes Dimitri was also in custody. Nicole remarks that he’s the only one who really knows what happened that night. EJ states that they know Dimitri brought the baby in to the hospital where Dr. Pierce tried to save his life but couldn’t. EJ remembers that he said he wouldn’t keep trying to convince her that the baby that Eric and Sloan adopted isn’t their baby. Nicole says he doesn’t have to. EJ asks if that means she’s accepted that their child is gone. Nicole responds that she has, but there’s so many unanswered questions from that night and she won’t feel at peace unless she knows the whole story. EJ says he knows and hugs her.

Holly calls Eric, who asks if everything is okay. Holly wanted to confirm that he’s still going to do the DNA test today. Eric confirms he set up the appointment with Kayla. Holly thanks him so much for doing this as she thinks it might be the only way to prove that his baby isn’t Nicole’s. Eric asks if Nicole knows about the test. Holly says no as she didn’t want to get her hopes up in case Eric said no. Eric says he’s happy to do whatever he can to put Nicole’s mind at ease and that he just needs to talk to Sloan about it first. Sloan then walks in and asks what he needs to talk to her about.

Johnny tells Chanel that it’s just a friendship bracelet that Holly made for him to thank him for spending Thanksgiving with her. Chanel responds that she knows how teenage girls are. Johnny insists that Holly is not in to him and already admitted to crushing on his dad. Chanel talks about how that’s weird since EJ is her stepfather and asks why Holly is making gifts for Johnny then. Tate comes over while working at the Pub and declares that Chanel is right that Holly doesn’t have a crush on EJ.

Holly guesses Eric will have to get back to her. Eric doesn’t think it will be an issue but says he will text her to confirm. Holly thanks him and hangs up. Sloan asks who was on the phone. Eric tells her it was Holly and she’s concerned about Nicole. Sloan guesses Nicole’s still fixated on the idea that their baby is her baby. Eric confirms that she is and says that’s why Holly had this idea but they get interrupted as Sloan gets a text and says she’s waiting to hear from the judge on Leo Stark’s case. Eric asks what’s going on with that. Sloan responds that she filed a motion this morning to have the murder charges dropped ahead of his arraignment. Sloan then reads her text which is from Dimitri, saying that she lied to him and warning her to prepare for the consequences.

EJ meets Leo in the interrogation room. Leo tells EJ that he’s not speaking with him without his attorney present. EJ says he doesn’t have to talk as he just wanted to tell him that he’s going to relish throwing the book at him. EJ reminds Leo that he’s being charged with aiding a wanted fugitive and also with the murder of his son. Leo tells EJ that he’s sincerely sorry for what happened to his baby. EJ thought he wasn’t going to talk. Leo says he needs to say this because he delivered the baby and is heartsick that he didn’t make it. Leo adds that his attorney told him there is no way that EJ can get the murder charge to stick. EJ argues that he can and he will which means Leo is going to spend the rest of his miserable life behind bars.

Nicole joins Holly in the living room and tells her that EJ had to go to work as he has the hearing about Leo’s case. Holly says that’s too bad as she hoped to talk to both of them. Nicole asks what it is. Holly explains that she’s been thinking about the conversation that they had about the baby and guesses that Nicole still thinks that Eric and Sloan’s baby is her baby. Nicole confirms that she let EJ think that she was letting it go, but insists that she could feel it in her heart when she held the baby and she knew he was her son. Nicole wishes there was a way that she could prove it. Holly responds that maybe she can. Nicole asks what she means. Holly then reveals that she went to see Eric last night and he agreed to have a DNA test done on the baby.

Tate apologizes for eavesdropping. Chanel tells him it’s okay as she’s glad that someone finally agrees with her about the whole Holly thing. Tate repeats that Holly doesn’t have a crush on EJ, at least not anymore, as she told him that she’s completely over him. Johnny asks if Tate is saying that Holly did have a crush on EJ. Tate asks what he means. Johnny explains that Chanel thinks Holly having a crush on EJ was just a cover story for her really having a crush on him. Tate laughs that off and says no way. Chanel asks if he’s sure. Tate claims that he and Holly have gotten really close and that she trusts him with all of her deepest secrets. Tate thinks back to agreeing to help Holly break up Johnny and Chanel. Chanel guesses that if Holly hasn’t said anything to Tate about Johnny then maybe she’s wrong. Johnny jokes with her about admitting to being wrong. Johnny tells Tate that he’s sorry for distracting him from work. Tate says he’s actually glad he ran in to him as it reminded him of something important he has to do which kind of involves Chanel.

Nicole asks Holly if Eric thinks Sloan will go along with the DNA test. Holly confirms that he didn’t seem to think it would be a problem. Nicole calls that great and asks when they can do it. Holly says Eric set up the appointment for today and guesses they just need a sample from Nicole or EJ. Nicole gets excited and says that’s not a problem. Holly hopes she doesn’t mind that she did this without asking. Nicole assures that she’s incredibly grateful that she would do this for her. Holly says she just hates seeing her in pain and wanted to find a way to help. Nicole thanks her and says she has no idea how much it means to her. Nicole adds that everyone thinks she’s gone off the deep end so it means a lot that her daughter is on her side as they hug.

Dimitri texts Sloan that Leo is facing prison and she will be too when he tells Nicole everything. Sloan responds that she’ll be right over and tells him not to do anything until she gets there. Eric asks Sloan how the judge ruled. Sloan says it wasn’t from the judge but it was about Leo’s case and she has to go deal with it. Eric tries to tell her about Holly’s idea but Sloan just says whatever they want to do to make sure Nicole accepts the truth is fine by her. Sloan tells Eric she’ll see him later and hurries out.

Leo informs EJ that Sloan told him felony murder doesn’t count in his case because the baby died at the hospital which was after he and Dimitri were fleeing the police, not during the actual crime. EJ says that Sloan tried to spin the story the same way with him, but argues that it’s not accurate because his son died from injuries in the accident that Leo and Dimitri caused which makes him still very much responsible. Leo argues that Sloan would’ve mentioned that. EJ guesses that Sloan hoped she could change his mind and get him to drop the charges. EJ says that Sloan tried to sell that to the judge as well but he won’t approve of dismissing the murder charges since the doctor gave a statement saying the baby’s death was a direct result of Leo’s actions. EJ tells Leo to face it that he’s screwed.

Chanel asks Tate how she’s involved in what he’s supposed to do. Tate explains how he caused damages at his old school and his dad is making him pay for it which is how he got the job at the Pub. Tate jokes that he’ll be working off the debt until he’s Roman’s age, so he’s been looking desperately for a second job and hoped he could work at the Bakery. Chanel admits they could use the help and says she’ll send him an application. Tate offers if they can go fill it out now since he’s about to go on break as he’s anxious to get started. Johnny points out that they haven’t even eaten yet. Chanel says it’s fine as she will walk him over to get the application while Johnny orders for them and then she’ll be back before the food. Tate thanks Chanel and they exit together.

Holly remains looking at Johnny’s photo until Nicole returns to the room with her toothbrush for a DNA sample. Holly asks if she’s nervous. Nicole says she is but isn’t. Nicole declares that she’s not worried. Nicole talks about feeling something so deep in your soul that no one can talk you out of it and you would risk anything to get the world to understand. Holly looks at Johnny’s photo and thinks she has felt that. Nicole says that’s why she is not worried. Nicole asks if it’s too early to go to the hospital. Holly doesn’t think so and mentions that Eric texted her that he and the baby are already there.

Eric meets Kayla at the hospital with the baby. Kayla compliments the baby and asks what his name is. Eric admits that he and Sloan haven’t been able to settle on that yet. Kayla asks what they came in for today. Eric responds that he was hoping for a DNA test. Kayla assumes it’s for the purpose of genetic testing. Eric says maybe down the road, but right now it’s more to prove that his son is his and not EJ and Nicole’s son.

Leo asks EJ how his actions caused the accident when he wasn’t the one driving. EJ says he’s well aware but Dimitri isn’t here to face the consequences and Leo is. Leo swears he doesn’t know where to find Dimitri so EJ guesses it’s on Leo to carry the burden. Leo calls that not fair. EJ warns him not to talk to him about fair as he brings up his child’s life being cut short thanks to Leo and Dimitri and now Nicole will grieve and suffer for the rest of her life. Leo apologizes again but insists it was a terrible accident and no one ever intended for anyone to get hurt. EJ states that it doesn’t matter as all he has to prove is that Leo committed a crime that directly led to the death of his son. Leo complains that he did everything he could to save him including delivering him, himself. Leo adds that after Dimitri left, he didn’t leave Nicole’s side until help arrived and asks if that counts for anything. EJ says no, because in the end his son is still dead.

Sloan goes to see Dimitri at the motel and says she can explain about Leo. Dimitri argues that she lied to him when she told him that she would get the murder charges dropped. Sloan responds that she tried her best and she built a strong case but EJ wouldn’t listen. Dimitri complains that it still leaves Leo on the hook for a murder of a child that’s still very much alive and living in her apartment. Sloan insists that she’s far from done in fighting the charges against Leo as she filed a motion this morning to have the judge drop the charges and she has high hopes he will listen to reason. Dimitri states that is not good enough as she didn’t hold up her end of the bargain, so he has no choice but to call Nicole and tell her all about how Sloan stole her baby.

Nicole tells Holly that she’s all set to go but then she gets a call from an unknown caller. Nicole answers the call and it’s Dimitri, who says they need to talk. Nicole is really glad he called because she needs to talk to him about her baby and asks what happened when he left the crash site with her son. Dimitri says that’s exactly why he’s calling. Sloan then grabs the phone from Dimitri and hangs up. Nicole guesses they got disconnected. Holly asks what he said. Nicole says Dimitri was going to tell her what happened to her baby and how Eric and Sloan ended up with her son. Holly suggests just calling him back, so she does.

Dimitri asks Sloan for his phone back. Sloan ignores Nicole’s call. Sloan knows Dimitri is upset about the charges against Leo but argues that telling Nicole is not going to free Leo. Dimitri asks how that is since EJ will have to drop the charges if he finds out the baby is not dead. Sloan argues that Leo will still face charges for a litany of other crimes. Sloan adds that they could hear back from the judge any minute now that he’s dropping the charges based on the motion she filed. Sloan checks her phone and sees a missed call and a voicemail, so she hopes it’s good news.

EJ finishes a call with the judge and informs Leo that he denied Sloan’s motion to drop the charges, so the murder charge stays.

Dimitri asks Sloan what the judge said. Sloan responds that she’s sorry. Dimitri decides that he’s telling Nicole everything then. Sloan pleads with him that he can’t. Dimitri declares that he’s not letting Leo go away for murder. Sloan promises that he won’t and guarantees that Leo will walk, but there’s one thing he has to do to ensure that. Sloan informs Dimitri that he has to turn himself in.

Nicole complains that Dimitri isn’t picking up and guesses he won’t call back. Nicole decides they should just get to the hospital. Holly then gets a text from Tate that Johnny is alone at the Pub and that he will stall Chanel so that she can make her move. Nicole asks Holly if something is wrong. Holly says it’s nothing and that a friend wanted to meet up but it can wait. Nicole tells her that she can go to the hospital on her own. Holly feels like she should be with her. Nicole says she just has to give her toothbrush and wait. Nicole tells Holly that she’s done enough already and that thanks to her, she will be reunited with her son.

Eric explains to Kayla that Nicole thought it was her baby, so Holly came up with the idea of the DNA test to put her mind at ease. Kayla calls it really kind of Eric and Sloan to agree to it. Eric admits that he hasn’t had a chance to tell Sloan but Kayla says only one parent has to sign off so he doesn’t need her permission. Eric says that’s good because Sloan is getting very uncomfortable with Nicole claiming it’s her child. Kayla says she should be very relieved when the results come out then. Eric gets a text from Nicole that she’s on her way with her DNA sample so Kayla says they can get started.

Holly goes to the Pub and finds Johnny sitting alone. She calls it a surprise and asks if he’s eating alone. Johnny tells her that Chanel was with him but she took Tate to the Bakery to apply for a job. Holly notes that Tate has been talking about getting another gig. Holly offers to sit with him until Chanel gets back which Johnny allows. Holly notices that Johnny is wearing the bracelet she made for him and says it looks great. Holly adds that she’s glad they had a chance to be alone because she has something she wants to tell him but wants to keep it between them.

Kayla tells Eric that she just needs a sample from Nicole or EJ and they are all set. Nicole then arrives with her sample and hands over the toothbrush. Nicole thanks Eric for doing this. Eric says anything he can do to help. Nicole asks how the baby is doing. Eric says he’s great and sleeping right now. Nicole asks to look in on him and promises not to wake him which Eric allows. Nicole tells the baby that she’s so happy to see him and is sorry he had to be dragged to the hospital while taking a nap. Nicole hopes in the end that it will all be worth it.

Leo tells EJ that he’s making a big mistake going after him like this. Leo says that thanks to the support of the Spectator, the court of public opinion already decided he’s a victim. EJ says that’s not a real court. Leo suggests it’s the only one that counts and he becomes the story himself. Leo says that people are very invested in his happiness. EJ remarks that was before they found out he killed a baby. Leo argues that he didn’t as he delivered the baby himself and then Dimitri took him to the hospital. Leo insists that EJ will be screwed when they hear his side of the story as they will see that EJ is trying to railroad him and then they will be asking for his resignation. EJ thinks Leo is vastly overestimating his influence. Leo says he couldn’t be more wrong and claims his devoted fans are loyal and protective. Leo compares himself to the #FreeBritney movement which EJ laughs at. Leo declares that Paulina will have no choice but to fire EJ. EJ tells him it was a nice try but calls him completely delusional as no one gives a rat’s ass about him, including Dimitri.

Dimitri questions Sloan wanting him to turn himself in. Sloan says then they could make a trade with EJ, since it was Dimitri behind the wheel and not Leo. Sloan declares that if Dimitri agrees to plead guilty, Leo walks. Dimitri questions why he would ever do that when he can prove that Leo never murdered anyone and Sloan could fight the other charges. Sloan declares that she can’t fight the charges if she’s in prison for stealing Nicole’s baby. Dimitri shouts that he’ll hire another attorney then as she’s not the only one in town. Sloan complains that Dimitri is forgetting that EJ is incredibly dangerous and he will torture and punish Leo while holding him responsible for Dimitri’s claims. Sloan adds that Leo already admitted to much of what he’s done, so he is going to prison and maybe for the rest of his life. Sloan asks if that’s what Dimitri wants. Dimitri says of course not. Sloan states that what they need to do is make a trade with EJ and give him what he really wants which is Dimitri’s head on a platter, repeating that it was Dimitri driving when Nicole got in the accident. Sloan guesses the real question is how much Leo means to Dimitri. Sloan asks if he loves him enough to sacrifice himself to save him.

EJ tells Leo that Dimitri is probably off somewhere enjoying the good life and never looking back. Leo insists their love affair is real. EJ says maybe to Leo, but to Dimitri it was just a temporary diversion and now Leo is all alone. Sloan arrives and says that’s not true. Sloan announces that she just spoke to Dimitri and he’s willing to turn himself in if EJ drops all charges against Leo.

Dimitri remains in his motel room, looking at the photos he and Leo took as ghosts on Halloween. Dimitri can’t believe he’s doing this but decides that Sloan is right that if he wants to free Leo, he has to turn himself in. Dimitri never thought he would sacrifice himself for another person, but declares that’s how much he loves Leo. Someone then knocks on his door. Dimitri questions who the hell that could be.

Tate and Chanel walk through the town square. Tate thanks her for the tour of the Bakery and calls her a genius. Chanel jokes that he doesn’t have to suck up to her to get the job. Chanel instructs him to just fill out the application and they will find something for him. Tate thanks her. Chanel says she’s going back to the Pub but Tate stops her and says she can’t go back yet. Chanel asks why not.

Johnny tells Holly that she sounds serious. Holly says that it is. Johnny asks what it’s about. Holly responds that it’s about her mom. Johnny mentions that EJ told him that she thinks Eric and Sloan’s baby is her baby. Holly calls it so sad as Nicole is totally convinced their little brother didn’t die and that somehow Eric ended up with him. Johnny calls that a lot. Holly explains that she knew Nicole wouldn’t get over it until she had proof, so she came up with a plan. Holly reveals that they are doing a DNA test on Eric’s baby right now.

Nicole asks Kayla what happens now. Kayla says she will take the samples to the lab now and if they are lucky, they’ll get the results back within the hour. Kayla tells Nicole and Eric that they can stay and wait if they want. Eric thanks her as Kayla says she’ll see them soon and exits. Nicole can’t believe that she’s about to have proof that this is her baby.

Interview with Larry Thompson

TV Interview!

Taylor Ann Thompson who also stars in Ladies Of The '80s: A Divas Christmas with Larry Thompson, Executive Producer Courtesy of Larry Thompson Entertainment

Interview with Larry A. Thompson, producer of “Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas” on Lifetime by Suzanne 10/23/23

In a normal year, I would have been able to interview one of the great actresses in this movie, or possibly all of them. However, this interview was during the SAG-Aftra strike, so I was only allowed to speak to the movie’s executive producer. However, it was a great chat because he’s been around a long time. He worked with the Beatles when he was just starting out as a lawyer for EMI! He’s not only a producer, but a manager. In fact, he manages William Shatner, whom I love and would very much like to interview one day. It was awesome to hear his stories in this interview. I hope you enjoy it, too!

The movie is very fun – especially if you enjoy romantic Christmas movies, or if you watched primetime soaps like “Knots Landing,” “Dallas,” “Desperate Housewives,” etc. because the “ladies” of the title are LInda Grey (Sue Ellen on “Dallas”), Loni Anderson (Jennifer of “WKRP in Cincinnati, among other roles – the only “lady” not known for soaps), Morgan Fairchild (of Falcon Crest, Paper Dolls and many daytime soaps), Nicolette Sheridan (Paige of “Knots Landing” and Edie of “Desperate Housewives”), and Donna Mills (Abby in “Knots Landing”). It was great to see them all in this charming film. Thompson’s daughter, Taylor Ann, is the ingenue of the movie.  Christopher Atkins has a small role as Grey’s son (This is hilarious to me because in “Dallas,” their characters had an affair!).  I enjoyed it. It’s fun and very Christmasy. The male lead, Travis Burns, is very handsome and has a killer Aussie accent. Happy Holidays! Don’t miss the movie tomorrow, December 2nd, 2023!

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Oh, there she is. How’s my girl? Okay. Just okay? You can do better than that. Where’s your main squeeze? Chase? No, your other main squeeze. Yes, chase. I don’t know, ma. He’s probably halfway to canada by now after grandma’s tirade on marriage.

[ Sighs ] Okay. Home sweet home. Come in. Alright. Hold, please, while I secure the necessary provisions.

[ Glasses clink ] Alright. Oh.

[ Chuckles ] Molly, I didn’t mean you had to actually stand in one place. Oh. Molls, come here.

[ Chuckles ] Talk to me. What happened? No, I just — I’ve realized I’ve never been here before. Thank you. Okay. Give me the lay of the land. Is this a “just because” dinner, or are we celebrating a special occasion? Well, that depends. On? Whether you deem the calm before the storm special. Here you go. Thanks. Yeah. Hi. Welcome to kelly’S. Can I get you something? I certainly hope so. Hume would have sat there and waited for you if we’d have let him. Is he alone? Just him and his briefcase, which I can only assume was full of cash like last time. Okay, let’s hear what pikeman has to say. Okay. I’m officially freaked out. You sounded frantic. Come. What is going on? This arrived in the mail today. What? Oh, what is it? See for yourself.

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Exhales sharply ]

I take it it didn’t go well with the hospital lawyer? What was her name again? Dede clark. Dede. Yeah. No, it went fine on the… on the surface. She’s talked a lot about cooperation. She implied that we’re all in this together, fighting this malpractice suit, and that I could do my part just by answering all her questions. But underneath? The more questions that she asked, the clearer it became that gh’s plan is to sacrifice me and save themselves. That cannot be true. It is. How? Think about it. Whenever we hang out, you always come over to my place, or we meet up at mom’s or sam’s or a restaurant somewhere. Never here. You have never been to my apartment? Wow.

[ Chuckles ] That is weird. Uh…well, welcome. Thank you.

[ Chuckles ] For the record, it’s not like I’m throwing parties or entertaining or anything. No, krissy, I know. I mean, my kitchen is essentially a barren desert, so it’s just easier to go out. You don’t have to defend yourself. Don’t I? Molly, you are my sister and you haven’t even seen my apartment. I hope you know that it’s not intentional. No, I don’T. It’s not on purpose or anything, because that is not the case and… hey, stop. …You now have an open invitation. Seriously, anytime you want to come here, day or night. Careful. I might just take you up on that. Good. You better.

[ Chuckles ] “Tirade” is a bit of a stretch, and canada is not that far away. Honey, don’t you think you’re being a little overly dramatic? No. After some of the things that grandma said to chase, I can’t even go there. It was mortifying. Well, it’s a good thing to know that nobody ever died from embarrassment. And, you know, it didn’t seem to bother chase all that much. He was being polite. Or maybe he was just seeing gloria for exactly who she is. Yeah, a meddling italian grandmother whose views on modern relationships are stuck in the 1800s. Exactly. Chase and I have never even discussed marriage. We just moved in together. Indicating that marriage is probably the next step. We are nowhere near that step, and that’s a-okay by me. Good to know. It is good. I just said that. Chase and I are perfectly happy the way things are. Lois: You made it!

[ Exhales sharply ] I’m in port charles on business and, uh…I got a craving for a burger. The concierge of my hotel recommended this place. Oh. You must be staying at the metro court. You know it? Yes, I know it well.

[ Chuckles ] Oh. And if I inquired somewhere else, would they also recommend kelly’s? Absolutely. Kelly’s is a port charles institution, and we have the best burgers in town, if I do say so myself. Wild guess — you work here. I own the place. Third generation. So, how do you like your burger? Is this real? It’s as real as it gets. Austin is dead. Oh, my god. How? He was shot to death in pautuck. Oh, look. It’s a port charles postmark. Could have been sent by anybody. Was it just the picture? Uh, no. No, it came this, um, sweet little note. What? “You’re welcome.” I-I don’t understand. Join the club. Well, clearly, the — the killer wrote this. Oh, my god. Well, they just assumed that you’d be grateful austin’s dead? That’s my guess. You have to take this to the police. What? No. Nina, no. Th– that is the last thing I’m gonna do.

[ Exhales sharply ] Before hume gets here, how long did you tail austin? Uh, only while that nanny was working for you. Betty? Anyone call you on it? A couple of times at the hospital, I was asked what I was doing there, but I always had a cover. Did you rough him up? When ava disappeared, I questioned austin. Right. He stonewalled. I put him in a headlock and told him if ava wasn’t found, I’d be back for him. Okay, that could be a problem. Austin was murdered, and if anyone saw you threaten him, they could assume that you did it.

Dante has already been out here to question me. Why? Because of austin? Oh, nina, there is so much you don’t know. Then fill me in. Do you remember when you walked in on sonny and me having a tense conversation? It was a few months ago. Yeah. I asked you what was going on, and neither of you would tell me. I was being blackmailed. Over what?

[ Sighs ] When nikolas went missing… I had every reason to believe that he was dead. Define “every reason”. I thought I killed him. Oh, my god! Ava! It was an accident. He came here. He was in a rage, a-a-and he — he was threatening to disappear and — and take avery with him. I mean, I had to do what I had to do to stop him, and I-I grabbed a statue, and I hit him. I-I just wanted to stop him, that’s all, but he fell, and he stopped moving, and i panicked. I thought he was dead. Well, thank god you were wrong. I was — I was trying to hide his body when austin found me…

[ Exhales sharply ] …And he told me that he would help me cover it up, and then the body disappeared, and it was austin’s cousin, mason. He claimed that he had it, and he said that he would bring it to the police if I didn’t do everything he told me to do. Wait, wait. Wait. So, austin’s cousin mason was blackmailing you because you killed nikolas, but he wasn’t actually dead? Yeah. But mason wasn’t acting alone. It turns out austin was working with him. That was it. After questioning austin about ava, I never went near him again. If the cops decide that you’re a suspect — and that’s a big if — you say you’re not talking to anybody unless my attorney is present, and that includes my son, dante. Understood. I take care of my people. If you get picked up, you’ll have the best representation. I appreciate that. But let’s hope that doesn’t happen because the less attention the cops pay to you, the more valuable you are to me. There you go. Tell me what you think. Don’t spare my feelings. I want to know the real deal. Mm-hmm. Oh. Mm. Talk about the real deal. Yeah? This is delicious.

[ Laughs ] It’s full of flavor. It’s perfectly cooked. Oh, come on. Oh, that’s great. Well, you enjoy your dinner.

[ Sighs ] Not again. You can’t be out here. Don’t call the cops. I’ll go. That’s not what I mean. It’s too cold. You need to come inside. So, do you want to tell me what happened? Shoot. What? I had a folder at the park. It’s filled with really personal information. Um… I got it. You did? Yes. I picked it up from the ground when we were leaving. Thank you. You are a lifesaver. Of course. What’s in it? Oh, you totally don’t have to share that. Um… it’s 100% your right. No, it’s fine. Open it. Okay. Surrogate candidates. Uh… I don’t understand. Is there something wrong with them? Something wrong with me.

[ Chuckles ] Hey. Watch it. That’s my sister you’re talking about. I have this whole folder of potential new surrogates, and tj has no clue I’m even looking at them. Thank you for the wine. It’s very thoughtful of you. Do you want me to open it? Is the pope catholic?

[ Chuckles ] You pour while I work. Deal. Uh, do you have a corkscrew? Oh, yeah. Coming right up. Got it. There you go. Thank you. You’re welcome. So, what were you ladies talking about? You. Blaze. Uh — [ Clears throat ] You. You and blaze, and how you guys used to sing together and now she sings alone. Speaking of which, what — what do you think of her new song? Hello? I’m — I’m sorry. I got distracted. It is amazing that you can do all that with those nails. Oh, chase, there is nothing I can’t do with these nails. Finn, you have to separate the hospital from the hospital’s lawyers. Sure, it may be a good legal strategy to use you as a scapegoat, but portia and terry would never, and I’m sure the board would follow suit. Yeah, I don’T… I don’t know, elizabeth. I don’t know anymore, you know? If the muldoons can prove that the hospital knew that somehow I was negligent and they turned a blind eye, the hospital would be liable for damages. So… martin thinks that gh’s best plan is to say that I was negligent, but that I acted without the knowledge of the hospital. But you weren’t negligent, and you’re going to explain that to a jury when you testify. They’ll have to be sympathetic to you.

[ Chuckles ] Really? Have you met me?

Apparently my testimony alone could tank the case. Says who? My lawyer. He said it a bunch of times. Oh, that’s ridiculous. Mm. Is it? If martin grey doesn’t believe in you, fire him. I think he does believe in me, but he’s also a lawyer, and good lawyers, they — they point out the landmines. I mean, this — this case at its core, it’s about a grieving family who are looking for answers. And really, can you blame them? No, of course not. So, it’s possible the jury will feel that way, too. And it’s possible to have empathy for the family and recognize that their loss wasn’t your fault. I don’t know. I just feel like the minute I get on the stand, the jury’s sympathies are going to be with the muldoons, and the only way that I can win them over is to get them to, you know…like me. Well, you did it with me, and I’m a way tougher sell. A bunch of strangers — cakewalk. You see, I know I’m supposed to take that as a pep talk, but all I heard was…you like me.

[ Chuckles ] Very much so. Are you sure you don’t need any help? No, you just sit back and relax and enjoy the wine, which is very good, by the way. It’s delicious. Thanks. I got a guy. Mm. You got a wine guy? Yeah, it’s true, and his recommendations are always on point. Good to know. And I’m very glad that the two of you could join me for dinner. Thank you for the invite. Yeah, well, it gives me a chance to get to know you better, and to apologize for all things gloria. What? Get out of here. No, no, no. I mean, not really apologize. ‘Cause god knows I love my mother, but I do know she can be a bit much. A bit? But she means well. My mother is a romantic. She’s in love with love, you know? And for a woman from her generation, if you’re in love, you put a ring on it.

[ Chokes ] Mm.

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Exhales sharply ] When I was contacted by the matching professional to start looking for a new surrogate, I was so eager to get things going again. But tj felt differently? When I told him she wanted to meet, he said it was too soon. Too soon for who? For him. For us, I guess. He’s — he’s not ready to get back on that roller coaster again. How do you feel about that? Deflated. Frustrated. I mean, this whole thing is hard enough, but to not be on the same page as your partner… anyway, I ran into dr. Navarro leaving the hospital, and she was so kind and steady, and — and she really put things in perspective. Okay, well, don’t leave me hanging. What did dr. Navarro say? Basically that the risk of miscarriage is the chance you take, right? Like, no matter who’s carrying the child. But when you weigh that against the chance of actually having a baby, I mean, so many people have had success through surrogacy. I want to be one of those people. So, I took the meeting alone. Was it productive? It was, ’til mom showed up. I’d rather stay out here. I don’t like being around too many people.

[ Exhales sharply ] Well, at least let me bring you something to eat. Really? Yes. Of course. That’d be great. Thanks. Okay, I-I’ll be right back. And if you change your mind, the door is open, okay?

[ Exhales sharply ] I didn’t know austin very well, obviously, but he seemed to really care about you. Well… I thought so, too. Yeah. I thought austin was somebody I could trust. And so, when — when he tried to convince me that he was being coerced, that he didn’t want to help his cousin, that he was trying to get me out from under the blackmail, I believed him. But nikolas wasn’t dead. And I’m convinced that austin knew it all along. I just don’t get it. What was his end game? Per usual, in this underworld at least, all roads lead back to sonny. Well? Pikeman needs you to facilitate another shipment. I thought I made myself clear. I don’t do anything for pikeman unless you tell me who the shooter was at the metro court. We’re not the police, mr. Corinthos, or the wsb. Pikeman is a manufacturer. One who exports merchandise through my channels. And we’re willing… …to pay double this time.

Did mom try to discourage you from trying again? No. No, she was typical mom. Wants whatever I want. Okay, good. But when I told her I took the meeting without consulting tj.. hey, technically, you did consult tj. You know what I mean. Yes. Okay. Go on. She just said that whatever tj and I choose to do, we have to make that decision together. But I just… I have this sinking feeling that tj might never be ready. So, I went to the park to clear my head and I ran into willow and amelia. Ooh. Not ideal. It was nice, actually. Willow was really sweet, and I got to hold the baby. That wasn’t hard for you? Not at first. It was so amazing to have this tiny little human in my arms. But once I left them, I just — I couldn’t stop thinking about how I might never have a child of my own. I just — I want to be a mom so badly, kristina. Oh, molls, I know. I know you do. I know. It’s okay. I got you.

[ Exhales shakily ] You okay there? Yeah, I-I will be once my ma changes the subject. Oh, in a sec. See — oh, my god, ma. …The biggest thing you could take away from all of this is that gloria obviously likes you, and that’s not an easy feat, because that is not a woman you can win over very easily. And for what it’s worth, I like and approve of you, too. It’s worth more than you know. You make my daughter happy. I can see it in her face. I can hear it in her voice and in the way she moves, and as a mother, that’s all I could ask for. For the record, your daughter makes me very happy, too.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Oh. Hey, guys, I am so sorry. I need to take this. Will you — will you please finish up for me? -Mm-hmm. -Okay. Hello? Yeah. Did you bring your shovel for the hole you’re going to dig, where I will reside for the remainder of my days? Don’t you think you’re being just a little dramatic? Why does everyone keep saying that to me? Do not answer that.

[ Sighs ] Chase, I’m so, so sorry. Why? I’m not. It’s too bad we can’t clone you. I’d have a whole jury box full of elizabeths. Ooh, well, that’s a terrifying thought. [ Chuckles ] Not to me. Okay, truth? Sure. Sometimes you can be a little… abrasive? Guarded? Uh, socially awkward? I was going to say standoffish. Ah, standoffish. At first. Yeah. But once people get to know you, they see what I see. And what’s that? A man of enormous integrity, a brilliant researcher, a dedicated physician, a loving, sometimes neurotic father. Sometimes? A person who really cares, and a doctor who never quits on his patients, and someone who needs a little work on their maple-tapping skills. A lot of work.

[ Chuckles ] Finn, you have saved hundreds of lives, and you have the potential to save so many more. Not if I lose this malpractice suit. Hi. I hope you like grilled cheese. There’s fries in there. I threw in a piece of pie. And here’s a coffee. Thank you. You’re welcome. Is it okay if I sit out here and eat? Yes. Yes, of course. And stay as long as you like. Okay. Whew. Okay. Alright. Can I get you anything else? I thought you were about to run that guy off. Instead, you fed him. How come? What does sonny have to do with any of this? Austin and mason were working for cyrus renault. Does sonny know this? He’s the one who told me. Well, why didn’t he say something? D– are you surprised? Yes! Nina, he doesn’t want you involved. God knows I wish I wasn’t involved. So, cyrus is the one who had you kidnapped? Yes. He wanted austin to testify for him at that hearing at pentonville. Oh, yeah. His hardship release. Oh, my god. So, he had mason take you hostage to guarantee austin’s testimony. Hell of a guy, huh? So, austin did what cyrus wanted. Austin testified to save you. That means you did mean something to him.

[ Scoffs ] Something, maybe, but not enough. Take it back to your superiors along with this message — I’m out. I’m not moving anything else for pikeman for any price. Find another harbor. I’ll relay the message. You do that.

[ Door closes ] You’re going to have an opinion, right, on what I just did. So, w-w-what do you think? I think you made a mistake.

Martin thinks the biggest hurdle is the question of why it didn’t screen muldoon for more tests that may have indicated the presence of cancer. But you told me you wanted to. He didn’t want any more tests done. Yes. Yes. No, I know, and… but, you know, they might say something like I didn’t — I didn’t explain it to him fully or maybe he was open to the test and I just didn’t bother. So, you, what, told him he was fine and pushed him out of your office? No, but they might say I got busy with my research or with other patients. Finn, you would never do that. I know that, and you know that. What if the jury doesn’t know that? All this marriage talk — it’s got to be wigging you out. Do I look wigged out? By the way, I’m fairly certain no one says that anymore. My family just really loves weddings, okay? In, like, a really unhealthy, codependent way. Have you been to a lot of them? Of weddings? Oh, yeah. Between the cerullos and the falconeris, there are too many to count. What are they like? They’re big, loud, enough food to feed an army and the people they’re fighting. Oh, and dancing. Nobody dances the tarantella like my grandma.

[ Chuckles ] Well, I’d love to see that someday. Oh, you will. And — not at our wedding. I-I didn’t mean that. I meant at a wedding. Probably one of my gajillion family members. Is it hot in here? Brook lynn. What? You need to relax.

[ Sighs ] I just feel terrible. Everybody’s all up in your grill. No one’s up in my anything. My grandma has probably already reserved us a church. But you can’t blame her. I-I-it’s all she knows. I mean, from the moment you turn 18, every nonna and zia are asking when it’s going to be your turn. So, from my grandma, I get it, or at least, I’m — I’m trying to. But from my mother, on the other hand, that’s a completely different story. Not to sound callous, but, uh, I can’t imagine it’s good for business to have a homeless man hanging around out front. Mm. Probably not. I did tell him to come inside, but he didn’t want to. So, I just brought him some food. Well, that’s kind of you. Oh, well, we wrap up all the unused food and we send it over to the homeless shelter. So, I would have been feeding him anyway. At least this time, he’s getting a hot meal. Yeah, well, I’ll take the check when you get the chance. Thank you, and, uh, can, uh, you give this to your friend outside? It looks like he could use it. Thanks. Austin came to see me at the gallery the night he died. When I found out that he’d known I was held hostage and he could have gone to sonny, he could have gone to the cops, and he did nothing, he was silent. I was furious. I bet. We fought about it. I told him to leave and he left. And that was the last time you saw him? Yeah. I just don’t have any way to prove it. Well, aren’t there cameras at the gallery? Can’t that prove that you were there at the time that austin was shot? Cameras in the back aren’t working, and that’s where I was most of the night. Okay, well, that is going to be an issue. And, you know, even if the cameras were working, I don’t think it would help me. I mean, that’s why I can’t bring the note and the picture to the cops. They’re just going to think that I hired somebody to get rid of austin. I mean, even dead, that man is still making trouble for me. You think I should have taken the deal? I think it’s better to play along than to make yourself an obstacle that needs to be removed. When I was in afghanistan, there were a lot of these private security groups there. Including pikeman. These are powerful people with connections to all the major intelligence ops. Cia, wsb. If they come at you, it’ll be at a level that you may not have seen before. I appreciate your insight. I’ve already considered all that, and I realized my best move right now is to get out. I don’t want pikeman investing any more in me. I’m betting that they think I’m more trouble than I’m worth and move on. It’s like I’ve lost all self-control. Well [Clears throat] I think that’s a good thing. That I’m a human walking waterworks. Yes, actually. For once, you are allowing yourself to feel what you feel, molly, without trying to edit it or control it. Being a mom is hugely important to you. It’s like I won’t be me if I don’T. That’s really beautiful. Well, not if tj won’t even consider new surrogates. And I won’t have a child without him. I could never do that to him. Come here.

[ Sighs ] Tj will come around, okay? I know he will. And when he does, let me help you, molly. Let me carry a baby for you and tj.

You’re obviously entitled to your own feelings about your mother, but I don’t want you to be mad at her on my account, because I think she’s awesome. You do? Yeah. I mean, you obviously come by your beauty and your spark naturally. Thank you for the compliment and for just being overall amazing. How did I get so lucky? I ask myself that every day. About — about how I got lucky, not — not you, if that wasn’T…clear. How about we just agree that we’re both lucky?

[ Exhales sharply ] Uh…brook lynn. Chase. What would you say are the three most important moments in your life? When I scored jonas brothers tickets in 2010. I’m being serious. Wow. Okay. Um, that’s a heavy question. Just humor me. Okay. Um…the last time I ever saw my great-grandfather, edward, was a big one. The first time I wrote a song. And, uh, when I gained a little brother in leo. I want this moment right now to be on that list. What are you talking about? Brook lynn quartermaine… …will you marry me? Did you, uh… just call me caring? Because you are. I think I know that, somewhere deep down, but I also know I don’t like to be questioned or doubted, and… when I get defensive, I get awkward, and these jurors, they’re not medical professionals and this medical jargon — it’s going to go right over their heads, right, and the only thing that’s going to resonate with them is this man is dead and his family is grieving, and there’s this doctor on the stand, and he’s saying he did everything right. Okay, finn — no. No. What — what if I would have pushed harder for him to get those tests, made him, demanded that he get that colonoscopy? Would muldoon still be alive? No one can answer that question.

[ Sighs ] But what I can tell you is, all we can do as medical professionals is our best, and you did that. I know that. So… so… …we need to teach you how to project that inward kindness outward so the jury will believe you and maybe even like you. Is that even possible? I think… yeah, we got our work cut out for us. I know that you were originally against it when I offered to be your surrogate, and admittedly, I-I hadn’t really thought it through, not fully. Maybe there was a part of me that just wanted to swoop in and be the hero. No, no, kristina, when I said that before, that was my pain talking. I was disappointed and bitter that you could carry a child and I couldn’t, but that was not fair and I’m so sorry. I’m sorry. Molls, I’m sorry that you’re going through this at all, and I’m sorry that you lost your first baby. It isn’t your job to fix it for us. I-I don’t think that it is. Not at all. That’s not the way I see it. Bringing your child into this world is something that I can and truly want to give you, not just for you, but for this baby who is going to be in a family with the most incredible parents. You’re absolutely positive? 100%. No backsies. No backsies.

[ Laughs ] Now I know you mean business. Yeah, I do. Okay. I’ll have to talk to tj about it. We have to be together on this. Of course. But no matter what we decide, it means everything that you’ve offered, kristina. Thank you. I love you. I love you, too. It’s a good plan. End your association with pikeman while they can still afford to cut their losses.

[ Knock on door ] Hey. Frank said I could come in. What’s wrong? I just came from ava’S. Yeah? I know about austin, that he’s dead, that he’s working with cyrus, and more importantly, that cyrus may still be after you. Damn. I — ava, why — she has no business telling you that. No, she doesn’t, really. The person I should hear it from…is you. Well, thank you for coming by, mr. Brennan. I hope we see you again at kelly’s soon. I can practically guarantee it.

[ Pen scratches ] Thanks. Yep. Thank you. Well…

[ Exhales sharply ] We have a problem. Corinthos refuses to move any more of our shipments.

[ Relaxing music ]

Eric: Oh, donna, I have so much to do and so little time,

Donna: Eric, I– I really wish you wouldn’t think of it that way.

Eric: I have to. I– I can’t– I can’t waste a minute. I can’t, I mean, I– I don’t even really know how many minutes I have left. Oh, stop it you two. I don’t want this. I don’t want these– these long faces. I don’t want sadness in here, okay? I’ve had this wonderful life and it’s– it’s not over yet and I have to– I have this collection to put out and I have this wonderful party to throw. The kind of grand soiree that this family hasn’t seen in a very long time.

Thomas: You can’t be serious.

Brooke: Now?

Steffy: Granddad actually said he wants to throw a party.

Rj: He doesn’t want to. He’s doing it.

Carter: As you can imagine, I was taken aback by the documents eric sent over.

Ridge: What do– what documents? What are you–

Carter: Ridge, the revised will naming you executor and the amended medical power of attorney.

Ridge: But I can’t do this. How do I do this? How do– how do I make–

Carter: Okay, ridge. What the hell is going on?

Brooke: What is eric thinking?

Steffy: Throwing a party at a time like this?

Rj: Well, that’s the whole point.

Thomas: Okay. So, how did the topic of partying even come up?

Rj: Well, he was talking about his– his life and– and you know, it ending, but it wasn’t in like a morbid or depressing way. He was just talking about how he doesn’t want tears or sadness. He– he wants a celebration, the perfect joyous ending.

Katie: I know you probably don’t want my opinion, but I’m going to offer it up anyway. I think that under the circumstances, maybe a party is not such a great idea.

Eric: You know what? I agree with you. It’s not a good idea. It’s a great idea and I love it. It’s a great idea because it was my idea.

Donna: Eric, you’re not well.

Eric: Yeah, thanks for reminding me, donna.

Donna: No. What I mean is that you have enough on your plate doing this new collection.

Eric: If I don’t do what I want now, when? Now, I want to finish this collection and I want to do this one last wonderful party for our family. And remember, we’re a closed shop here. We’re the only ones who know about this. I don’t– rj and luna and us. No one else has to know what’s going on with me, right? Okay.

[ Eric coughing ]

Carter: Look, I’m not trying to jump to conclusions, but it’s not hard to connect the dots. So, what’s going on? You can tell me.

Ridge: He doesn’t want anyone to know. Not even me, his own son. But you’re family, so you deserve the truth.

Carter: No, no, no, man. That can’t be true.

Ridge: Yeah, I wish it wasn’T.

Carter: Eric… he’s dying? I can’t, I gotta go see him.

Ridge: No.

Carter: I have to.

Ridge: No, you don’t have to. It’s not what he wants. He doesn’t want anyone to know. That’s why you’re only finding out about this now. Rj’s been helping him and he had these tremors and his hands weren’t working, so rj was there for him and they created this collection together.

Carter: That’s a hell of a burden on rj.

Ridge: Nothing was too much for him because he talked to brooke and then they told me.

Carter: That’s why you let eric think he won the fashion challenge.

Ridge: He needed that. He needed some validation. He’s gotta know that he– that he’s relevant because he is relevant. As long as he’s alive, he’s– he’s relevant.

Carter: How are you holding up?

Ridge: What, pretending that I don’t know? I am great. That’s what he wants. We have to respect that.

Carter: I don’t think I can pull that off.

Ridge: Oh, I know you can pull that off. ‘Cause you have to. Not for me, carter. For him.

Eric: Katie. Uh, do me a favor, will you? Just, uh, get everybody in here in here, in this room. I want everybody in the family to know that there’s a wonderful party in their immediate future.

Katie: So, you’re really going through with this?

Eric: Oh, yes, with great enthusiasm. You too.

Donna: So, does that mean you’re ready to tell everybody the truth that you’re–

Eric: What? That I’m– that I’m dying? Donna, it’s okay. You can say it. It’s the truth. Okay.

Carter: Eric, he, um… he always accepted me, right from the start. Was always caring and kind, supportive… even when I didn’t deserve it. And as you know, he took a big chance on me because I didn’t have much corporate experience. But he believed I could do the job. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.

Ridge: No, I get it.

Carter: Thank you for telling me.

Ridge: Listen, I– I know you love my dad, he loves you. Hey, you gotta keep this to yourself.

Carter: I’m not saying it won’t be the hardest thing I ever had to do, but if it helps ease eric’s journey, you can count on me.

Ridge: Thank you, brother.

Carter: I’m sorry.

Ridge: Oh, man, me too.

Rj: Hey.

Ridge: Hey.

Rj: Carter.

Ridge: Ah, he’s family, I had to tell him.

Carter: Eric– he, uh– he sent over these– these documents. The revised will and amended the power of attorney.

Steffy: Granddad’s actively preparing for his death.

Ridge: Yeah.

Brooke: I still can’t believe this is happening.

Carter: There has to be something we can do for eric, right?

Thomas: Yeah, you can, uh, you can show up at his party.

Ridge: His party? What are you talking about?

Brooke: Uh, that’s right. Eric has decided this is the perfect time to have one last forrester bash. Having diabetes can raise a lot of questions. Like my morning ride, will it help lower my glucose? Ridge: Dad’s serious?

Rj: He’s very serious. This is what he wants. He wants a gala event that he can attend that celebrates his life.

Steffy: Except we can’t know that that’s why we’ve been called together.

Ridge: Okay. So, we just kind of pretend. Right. That’s what we’re doing? How is this helpful for him at all? Meaningful in any way?

Brooke: Well, we have to plaster on these phony smiles and pretend that everything is okay.

Ridge: All right, great. So– so we’re just gonna have a party, have drinks and– and eat and pretend that everything is fine. How– how are we supposed to do that?

Steffy: I know. It’s ridiculous. What– what rj said. It’s what granddad wants.

Thomas: I think it’s actually inspirational.

Ridge: What?

Thomas: We’d all be so lucky to go out like that.

Carter: He has a point, ridge. And you do too. We all love eric and we’re losing him and… it’s natural we’d want to hold on to him for as long as we can, but you did something very admirable. You told your dad he won the fashion challenge when he didn’T.

Thomas: Yeah, you gave that to him.

Steffy: Probably gave him more time, dad.

Brooke: It was a gift and now we can give him another gift, show up to his party and give him the night that he wants so badly.

[ Phone chiming ] Oh. It’s, uh, it’s katie. Eric wants to see us.

Ridge: All right. Put on your game faces. Pretend that everything is perfect.

Donna: I understand your desire to live life as much as you can, but you heard the doctor, eric. He wants you in the hospital.

Katie: To run more tests.

Eric: No, no, it’s not what I want. This is what I want. I want one last party. A wonderful party full of fun and laughter and wonderful memories.

Donna: Oh, eric.

[ Knocking ]

Eric: Good.

Ridge: Hey.

Eric: Good. Come in, everyone. Just– just fill up the room. Yeah, that’s what I want. Uh, I’m so glad– I’m glad you’re here. Thanks for coming.

Brooke: Yeah, katie texted me, said you wanted to see all of us, so…

Eric: And what a wonderful sight you are to see.

Ridge: You like being behind the desk, don’t you? Showing us who’s boss.

Eric: Don’t sell yourself short. You did a wonderful collection. It was, uh, it was pretty impressive, I gotta say.

Ridge: Not impressive enough, was it?

Thomas: We are all humbled by you, granddad.

Steffy: And inspired.

Eric: Thanks. But, uhm well, the fact is I was pretty proud of it too. I needed this collection to be good so that I could prove to myself that I deserve to be here, the head of this company behind this desk. About the young generation full of energy and, and wonderful ideas to take this company from now into the future for decades to come. I couldn’t be more proud.

Steffy: You have no idea how much that means to us.

Thomas: I completely agree with you. I mean, being an artist or– or running a business, I mean, we learned that from you and dad, obviously.

Ridge: Everything I gave you, I got from this guy.

Brooke: And you’ve been so generous to our logan family as well. Our lives would not be the same without you here.

Donna: Certainly not mine.

Carter: Or mine.

Rj: You touched a lot of people, granddad.

Katie: In deeply profound ways.

Steffy: We love you so much.

Eric: We, uh, we don’t take time to say that to each other very often. We get all busy during our lives and we forget to tell each other how much we care about each other and so, that’s what I’m doing now and not very well either.

Carter: You know, I’d like to, um, to jump on that, eric. Uh… you took a chance on me, gave me a place here at forrester, a seat at the family table and, uh, I just wanna thank you for that.

Eric: No, we needed you here. You’ve been a wonderful addition to this company and to this family.

Ridge: All right. What is happening here? We’re all busy. You brought us in here for, what, some love fest? Okay?

Eric: Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Uh, the fact is an explanation, I’ve had a few moments of, uh, real clarity lately and I think it’s time for us to have a celebration, a party. A party for all of us full of– full of love and laughter. So, are you coming or not?

[ All laughing ]

Ridge: Yeah, sounds perfect.

Thomas: We’ll be there.

Rj: Sounds like a blast.

Carter: Wouldn’t miss it.

Eric: Okay. Donna and I will get back to you with all the details and we’ll let you know when– when everything is starting.

Donna: Okay, I think you’ve had a full day.

Eric: We’ll dance. We’re gonna dance?

Donna: Yes, we’ll dance. But we’re gonna go home now. Okay. All right.

Eric: Be lots of champagne.

Ridge: Yes. Okay.

Eric: Lots of it.

Ridge: Sounds great.

Eric: Don’t be late.

Rj: I will not. I’ll see you.

Ridge: So, we’re having a party.

Thomas: Okay. Uh, I guess it’s time to figure out how to throw a party.

Katie: Donna and I tried to talk him out of it, but he was determined.

Carter: How are we supposed to pull this off?

Brooke: Brought tears to my eyes just hearing him talk like that.

Ridge: You know what I want to hear from him is the truth, so we can deal with this as a family.

Rj: This is how he wants to handle it, dad.

Steffy: I wouldn’t go along with a stupid charade for anyone. But if this is what granddad wants, then we’re going to dress up and we’re gonna have a party and we’re gonna make it a night he will never forget.

Ridge: Okay.

Eric: Did you, uh, you think anybody saw my hand shaking?

Donna: Nobody reacted.

Eric: Ah, good. I mean rj or katie, it’s okay, but nobody else. I don’t want–

Donna: I know, I know. How’s your hand feeling now?

Eric: Fine. It’s fine. Ridge asked me, uh, what we’re celebrating at this party and I said, “gratitude.” I’m just so… I’m so grateful to have you in my life, yeah?

Donna: Oh, eric. Really, uh… we finally got together, didn’t we? It became kind of a circuitous route, but we’re here.

Donna: We did. And stephanie, I was with her all that time. She was wonderful. She was strong and powerful and a wonderful partner and a great– a great mother to our children, really, but she… she wasn’t that easy to live with.

Donna: I can’t imagine that she was, really.

Eric: She was. And brooke. Being married to brooke. We– we had two beautiful children together and i just never really felt that… that the marriage was a permanent thing. I felt like I was on borrowed time. That her– her love for ridge would– would win out.

Donna: It always does, doesn’t it?

Eric: It does eventually, yeah. And there were other women. You were one of them, but our timing wasn’t right then. But now, now it is. I’m so happy. I have you– you– your love and your grace and– and your warmth and your laughter fill this house.

Donna: I’m the lucky one. You– you finally came back to me.

Eric: I did, didn’t I? Here– here I am. I’m so lucky to have you and I’m so grateful. And I– I– I– I– I– um… I don’t take you for granted. I don’T… I feel so… I feel safe. I feel safe with you in these last days of my– and I’M… I’m scared, donna.

Donna: What?

Eric: I’m scared.

Donna: Eric.

Eric: I’m scared, donna.

Donna: Stop. No. Don’T.

[ Eric mumbling ]

Donna: Eric, please. Don’t– are you okay?

Eric: Sit down.

Donna: Are you okay?

Eric: I want to sit down.

Donna: Okay, sit down.

Eric: I want to sit down. I’m okay, I’m okay.

Donna: Are you okay?

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Are you okay?

Eric: Yeah, I’m okay.

Donna: Uh, I’m going to get you some water.

Eric: All right. I’m sorry. I’m scared, donna.

[ Metal clattering ]

Donna: Eric! Oh!

Sharon: Wow.

Chance: And look at you. You’ve got a little extra pep in your step this morning.

Sharon: I do. Well, everything is coming together with the new and improved kirsten incorporated and the launch is coming up soon.

Chance: You’re keeping that name?

Sharon: Of course, I wanted to change it, but at first, it was S.N.A. And then adam was out. So, it was just S.N. And now, it’s only me. So, I guess I’m just left with what? S? I don’t know if that works.

Chance: Yeah, you know, easy to pronounce. Just not that catchy.

Sharon: Well, maybe you can help me brainstorm something.

Chance: I would absolutely love to. That’s very exciting. Congrats. You know what? I actually have some very good news of my own.

Sharon: You do?

Chance: Yeah. I’ve made a decision about my future.

Kyle: So, now that I’m coo, how exactly do you plan to take advantage of my new inside position?

Tucker: I thought you’d never ask.

Jack: Still, I would like to shave another five percent off these east coast warehouse costs.

Billy: Believe me, jack, I would too, but five percent seems aggressive. Two seems a little more reasonable.

Jack: Hey, welcome back to jabot world headquarters.

Billy: Any news on the electrical issue at the building, mr. Coo?

Kyle: It should be taken care of before lunch. We’ll be back in the office before the end of the day.

Jack: Hey, that’s great. You know, I kind of like this. All of us working here together. Oh, I gotta take this guys. But, uh, let’s talk when I’m done.

Billy: Sure.

Jack: Susan, thanks for getting back to me. Yeah.

Billy: First day on the new job and you’re only showing up now.

Kyle: I was here earlier. I actually live here.

Billy: Yeah. Where’d you go? What’s more important than your new job?

Devon: Listen, one thing that I know for sure is that I don’t want to play games with tucker. I don’t want to pretend that everything’s okay between him and me. Deceiving people is what he does. It’s not what I do. And if we ever do reconnect, it’s gotta be real.

Ashley: I’m not asking you to pretend. I know that you’re a man of integrity, makes you the perfect partner for my daughter. Although I have to admit, when it comes to people like tucker, fighting fire with fire sometimes seems like the only recourse.

Devon: Yeah. But you know how he operates. He earns your trust to betray it.

Ashley: I know. He’s very angry and he’s taking it out on chancellor and jabot and I just thought that if you– if you reconnected with him, it would get him to back off.

Devon: You think he would back off and he would calm down and leave our companies alone?

Ashley: Ah. Something like that. Would you at least consider forgiving him?

Tucker: Hey.

Audra: Hi.

Tucker: So, I just saw your boyfriend.

Audra: Hm. Which one?

Tucker: Kyle.

Audra: And?

Tucker: He asked a lot of questions.

Audra: So, he just wants to be clear on the assignment.

Tucker: No, that’s not it. I mean, yes, of course, he could be nervous and unsure of himself, but he’s always struck me as a little cocky. Self-doubt is not his thing.

Audra: Then what?

Tucker: He’s got a plan of his own.

Audra: What kind of plan, tucker?

Tucker: He’s gathering information, just as I suspected. So, what more do you need to see that he cannot be trusted? You’ll find them in cities, towns and suburbs all across america. Audra: Look, I think you’re wrong, tucker. I’ve seen the look in kyle’s eyes. I can tell when he wants something and he wants this, badly.

Tucker: What he wants is his daddy’s approval. Nothing more. And to capture the abbott white whale, me. Also to push billy out of the chair he thinks rightfully should be his.

Audra: Okay. Well, if you’re right–

Tucker: I’m right.

Audra: All right then. If you really feel that way, what are we doing here? How is this plan gonna work?

Tucker: We’re gonna use the knowledge to our advantage. He’s so desperate for his dad’s approval, he’ll be easier to manipulate.

Audra: I’m warning you, tucker, you’re underestimating kyle.

Tucker: You know what? Someone should tell him that about me. Why do you keep sticking up for him and justifying him? Audra, please don’t tell me you’re falling for this guy.

Kyle: I wasn’t here because I had to deal with the electrical issue.

Billy: Oh, yeah. Were you up on the ladder with a voltage meter trying to get the lights turned back on?

Kyle: No, not exactly, but why do you care, billy?

Billy: Why do I care? I– I– I find it odd that you would, you know, be late on your first day back at jabot.

Kyle: Well, I didn’t realize I was still interviewing for the job.

Billy: Kyle, you were so contrite with jack, insisting that this miraculous turnaround was real. You know, brimming with enthusiasm to be back at jabot. And no, it’s not in the position that you actually wanted, but it’s a family company and now you’re late on your first day.

Kyle: Okay. I had errands to run this morning. I had to step out.

Billy: Must have been important.

Kyle: Yeah, they were.

Billy: Yeah, you want to share with me?

Kyle: You still don’t trust me, do you, billy? You don’t believe that I am happy coming back to the company as coo. Is that it?

Billy: Trust me, kyle. I don’t want to doubt you. Okay? But with all the co-ceo or nothing talk, I’m finding a hard time trusting that this is sincere.

Kyle: Okay. So, what is it? You think I’m secretly gunning for your job, that I have some master plan to oust you from the executive suite?

Billy: No, but you had a very fast turnaround. That’s all I’m saying.

Kyle: I came to my senses. I realized the coo job was perfect for me and I took it. So, what exactly is so suspicious about that?

Billy: That’s a good question. Why don’t you tell me? Kyle, I’m pretty good at reading people. Right now, by gut is telling me that something’s not right.

Kyle: What does that even mean? What, you’re gonna watch my every move? Make me punch a time card? Follow me as I run my errands?

Billy: What it means is now is probably a really good time to rethink your priorities.

Devon: Ashley, I’m sorry, but I’m not ready to forgive tucker and I don’t want to fake it.

Ashley: I understand. You’re very hurt and you’re angry.

Devon: Well, I know we’re all angry at tucker. And I know that we’re both concerned about what he’s gonna do to our companies, but I don’t want to just pretend that everything’s okay between us to find out.

Abby: Look, none of us want tucker to do more damage to the people that we care about, so maybe if you can convince tucker that you forgive him, then maybe he’ll forgive my mom. Not that you need forgiving.

Ashley: Thank you, honey.

Abby: Maybe we can stop this destruction that he’s planning.

Devon: I get all that. I know what the plan would be. But like you said, it has to be sincere for him to buy it. And it won’t be because I can’t just pretend to feel something that I don’t really feel.

Ashley: I hear you. It’s okay. I’m just gonna have to give more thought as to what to do next. Thanks for meeting me.

Devon: Of course. I’m sorry.

Abby: Love you.

Ashley: Bye, honey.

Abby: Bye.

Ashley: See you guys.

Devon: See you.

Abby: You are such a good man. You’re so kind and loving. Those are just a few things that I love about you. But when it comes to tucker, I’m starting to think that my mom is right. I think we need to fight fire with fire.

Sharon: Okay. Well, don’t keep me in suspense. Tell me what you’ve decided.

Chance: Well, I’m gonna leave the gcpd.

Sharon: Wow.

Chance: Mm-hmm. I think I’m gonna leave law enforcement altogether. I think it’s time to refocus and do something else.

Sharon: You’re a great police officer. The best. But, I can’t say that I’m disappointed with what you’ve decided you want to do. I mean, after you got shot…

Chance: Yeah, I know that shook everybody up pretty badly.

Sharon: Especially your mom, I think. It sounds like she’s been through a lot with you.

Chance: I know. You know, she’s wanted me to quit for years. She’s wanted me to get a nice, safe, normal job. So, I don’t think I can keep putting her through this.

Sharon: She knows you can only cheat death so many times.

Chance: Well, it’s not just that. I– I think it’s more about how my job affects the people that I care about the most. How many times can I put everyone through the same ordeal over and over again? It’s not fair to my parents. It’s not fair to dominic, especially as he gets older. It’s not fair to you. That’s why I think getting shot, again, it was a wake-up call. It’s time for a change. (Hamlet) it’s beggin’!

Sharon: All of us who care about you know exactly what we signed up for. A little extra dose of anxiety here and there, an occasional sleepless night. But we’re also full of pride and admiration. You keep our city safe, chance. You make it a better place. Are you sure this is what you want?

Chance: It is. Yeah.

Sharon: Have you told nina?

Chance: Oh, no, no, no. Not yet. She had to go back to L.A. For a meeting, so. She’s coming back in a few days. I’ll tell her then.

Sharon: So, are you going to resign right away? Today?

Chance: Well, I gotta go to the station and tell the appropriate people, you know. I wanna make sure I offer some help so they can find a replacement. I– I– I can’t just walk away like that, you know. I wanna make sure they’re in good hands before I go.

Sharon: Well, I would expect nothing less. And then what?

Chance: Well, spending time with you was pretty high on my list.

Sharon: That sounds fantastic, but you know what I meant? What is your next move career-wise? Are you gonna go into private security or have you been considering what jill said?

Chance: It’s been on my mind.

Sharon: So, you’re really thinking about going into the high stakes corporate world?

Devon: I appreciate what you’re saying about me, okay? I do. But I made it very clear where I stand after I found out that tucker was lying about his connection to mamie. I told him I didn’t want him anywhere near me. Which means I don’t want him anywhere near you or dominic.

Abby: But what if he’s plotting against your family’s company and my family’s company? Shouldn’t we do whatever it takes to stop him?

Devon: What are we gonna do if he doesn’t believe me? He’s not stupid. I told him I want him to stay away from me and my family. He’s not gonna believe that I just had a change of heart overnight.

Abby: What if tucker reaches out to you?

Devon: He’s not gonna do that.

Abby: You don’t know that. What if tucker makes the first move? Couldn’t you at least be receptive?

Devon: Yeah. Sure I could. For the family’s sake. But he’s not gonna come running to me begging for forgiveness.

Abby: I’m not so sure.

Audra: You know, do we need to go over this again? You sense something or whatever, but you’re wrong. Okay? I’m no more smitten with kyle than I was the first time you brought it up. We just have fun. We work well together and that’s it. There’s no, there, there. There’s no substance. No love story.

Tucker: If you say so.

Audra: I got my eyes on the prize. Like always.

Tucker: I’m glad to hear it. It’s in my mind because he’s just a haircut. He’s a tool we can use and throw away.

Audra: Okay, wait. Why can’t kyle run jabot alongside me after we seized it? He knows the company inside and and out. It makes good sense to keep him around.

Tucker: Because you’re capable enough to get the inside scoop on your own.

Audra: You know, I’m starting to worry that your need for revenge is clouding your usually excellent judgment.

Tucker: No.

Audra: You know, combine that with a dash of overconfidence and I think we have a recipe for failure.

Tucker: No, ma’am. I am seeing a world with extreme clarity. I am as cool-headed as ever. You’re the one that seems to be second-guessing everything. Do I need to worry about you?

Audra: No, I’m good. You don’t need to worry about me. I’m like a cat.

[ Audra hissing ]

[ Tucker chuckling ] I will always land on my feet.

Tucker: What does that– what does that mean? I mean, in human terms?

Audra: It means I will always land on the side of success, wherever that may be. And if it starts to look like your little obsession is getting in the way of my success, I’ll jump ship.

Tucker: Will you?

Audra: In a heartbeat.

Tucker: Yes. That’s very cold-blooded of you.

Audra: Just how you taught me. Look, I make my own choices and I choose success.

Kyle: You think you have me all figured out, but let me assure you, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Billy: Glad to hear that. Because trust me, kyle, I would really like to be wrong.

Kyle: And I may not be the poker player you are, but I am an exceptional people reader myself.

Billy: Good for you.

Kyle: It could be an abbott thing, I guess. You know, I can figure out people’s motivations, sometimes before they even can. And billy, your insecurity’s showing. A man who’s constantly looking over his shoulder, worrying about what other people are doing. He feels like a fraud, an imposter. That’s not a man that should have a position of power. Summer. What are you still doing here?

Summer: Uh, you know that I’m working here today. Where have you been?

Kyle: Why is everyone asking where I was? I told myself I was ok

Summer: Wow, you’re this stressed on your first day. It’s not a good sign.

Kyle: Summer, I’m sorry. It’s just some family drama, you know how it is.

Billy: I– I understand all that, but the deadline was last week, so I’m gonna need a better explanation.

Summer: Family drama with billy?

Kyle: Yeah. Who else?

Summer: I don’t know. In this family, it could be any number of people.

Kyle: Right now, it’s all about billy.

Summer: Do you wanna tell me what’s going on?

Kyle: My uncle refuses to give me the benefit of the doubt. He’s convinced that no matter what I say, I want his job and I am carrying out some underhanded scheme to get it.

Summer: Well?

Kyle: Well what?

Summer: I mean is– is he wrong?

Kyle: What? You’re on billy’s side now?

Summer: Kyle, come on. You hate that billy is in the co-ceo spot and you’ve been pretty vocal about it. So, what are you telling me? That you’ve suddenly changed your mind?

Tucker: So, if you feel this isn’t working out, you’re gonna jump ship? To what exactly? Kyle abbott? Good luck with that.

Audra: Again, you’re underestimating kyle.

Tucker: No, audra. Kyle is– he’s– he’s not the rogue that you make him out to be. He’s just a daddy’s boy. Oddly enough, he’s a mama’s boy too. He doesn’t fool me for a second. And I’m just mystified as to why he continues to fool you. I’m the only one who can… anyway, it’s time to start trusting me again.

Audra: Okay.

[ Audra chuckling ]

[ Audra sighing ]

Tucker: What?

Audra: Now, who’s really being fooled here? What makes you think I ever truly trusted you?

Tucker: Hm. Yeah, that’s fair enough. I guess trust has always been a delicate balancing act between the two of us, hasn’t it? It’s a fine line between trust and total distrust. It’s kind of like– kind of like loving and hating someone simultaneously.

Audra: Yeah. Well, I’ve never loved or hated you, tucker.

Tucker: Really? Because I…

Audra: You what?

Tucker: Well, like I said, it’s complicated. We are complicated.

Audra: Yes, we are. Known for following your dreams. For almost 100 years, harry and david has been making gourmet gifts to share with loved ones near and far. Because giving is about more than a day on the calendar. We believe the world would be a better place if we all shared more. Harry and david. Life is a gift, share more. (Vo) get in the holiday spirit

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue

Devon: Listen, tucker can try and make things right with me all he wants, but I’m not interested.

Abby: So, reconciliation is just off the table?

Devon: Well, we’re not talking about reconciliation. We’re talking about faking it. And I don’t want to do that just so your mom can find out what he has in store for jabot.

Abby: And what he has in store for chancellor-winters.

Devon: Jill, lily and I can handle him when it comes to that. I’m not worried.

Abby: Look, devon, I get where you’re coming from. But all of the confidence in the world is not going to erase my concern for whatever tucker is planning, okay? Yes, you and your sister and jill, you’re a formidable team, but I do not trust tucker to play fair. And whatever he’s planning for chancellor-winters, if he pulls it off, it’s going to affect you. And in the long term, it will affect dominic.

Devon: Okay. So, what are you saying?

Abby: Look, I know that you want to take the high road. You want to keep everything above board, but I will fight for my family. I would like to do it honorably, but if I have to get down and dirty, I will. I won’t walk away. I’ll do what needs to be done.

Tucker: Hey, ashley.

Ashley: Hey tucker.

Tucker: I guess we’re gonna have to get used to this, huh?

Ashley: Well, yeah, it’s a small town. We go to to the same places, so we’re bound to run into each other.

Tucker: Well, luckily, I’m pretty good at being polite.

Ashley: Why are you being so hostile towards me? We just saw each other yesterday. I proposed that you take over glacade and you were very amenable, at least then.

Tucker: Well, you know me. I’m mercurial. That’s what the business press refers to me as. Mercurial tycoon changes course. Mercurial mogul has a change of heart and all that.

Ashley: You are the most interesting man alive and clearly you believe your own press.

Tucker: Yeah. I don’t know what to believe anymore. I’ll see you.

Ashley: Excuse me. Excuse me. So, really, what– what happened? I gave you that opportunity to take over the company and you jumped at it. And now, you’re just acting like an ass. What changed?

Kyle: My change of heart isn’t so abrupt. I’ve been thinking about it for a while.

Summer: Okay.

Kyle: I was having a hard time accepting billy as co-ceo, but I’m over it. For the good of the family.

Summer: So, you have accepted billy and the job. And you– you’re happy with coo because all you want to do is work with your father and be a part of the family legacy, no matter the position.

Kyle: Exactly. Look, I’m not working an angle. I gave up being co-ceo and I accept that I can’t have it back just because I want it.

Summer: Wait. Do you regret stepping down to run marchetti?

Kyle: I do. Look, I’m sorry. And I know it’s hard to hear, but maybe I wouldn’t have to be restarting my career if I had stayed where I belong in the first place.

Summer: Yeah, but you didn’t have any way of knowing how things would turn out. Professionally, personally.

Kyle: Yeah. True.

Summer: Does your regret go back even further than that? Because I think that mine might.

Kyle: What do you mean?

Summer: I don’t know if we– if we had never come back from milan, if we had never brought marchetti under the jabot umbrella. I mean, would we still be together? We were happy in italy, right? Is it possible that coming home to genoa city was the beginning of the end for us? To 50 years with my best friend and my soulmate.

Kyle: Do I think about what might have been? What could have happened if we never left milan where things were just different?

Summer: Yeah.

Kyle: Yeah. I– I– I try not to think like that, summer. You can go down a deep, dark hole if you think about what could have been. What if?

Summer: Yeah. I don’t really think about it either. It just sort of occurred to me right now.

Jack: Summer. I didn’t know you were here.

Summer: Yeah. I’ve been working from the upstairs study.

Jack: Oh, good choice. You got a minute to go over a few things?

Kyle: Mm. Absolutely.

Jack: All right. Follow me. Oh, and could you grab my laptop?

Kyle: Everything would have been different if we didn’t come back. But we did. We can’t change what happened after that.

[ Knock on door ]

Chelsea: Hi. You ready for me? Summer? Are you okay?

Summer: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course, yes. Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind.

Chelsea: Well, I got the sketches back, based on your notes. You want to take a look at them?

Summer: Yes. Yeah. Um, could we just not do it here, actually?

Devon: Babe. Listen, tucker’s not somebody you wanna mess with.

Abby: Neither am I.

Devon: I know that and I love you for it and I know that you– you probably could go head to head with tucker.

Abby: Damn right, I could. I have.

Devon: I– I’ve seen you do it. I know.

Abby: Look, I’m not just gonna sit around and wait for tucker’s next move.

Devon: What are you gonna do then?

Abby: Nothing at the moment, but, you know, you should give me a role at chancellor-winters. Hell, put me on the board.

Devon: Put you on the board? I don’t know if I can do that.

Abby: Of course you can do that. This is the kind of move we need to make to show tucker that I’m in this fight too.

Tucker: You know, the hardest part about what happened in paris? The most painful? Realizing you still love someone you can no longer trust. I guess love takes longer to fade.

Ashley: How come I feel like you’re still blaming me for what happened? You take no responsibility at all.

Tucker: I said I was sorry.

Ashley: I said I was sorry.

Tucker: And yet, here we are. It seems like nothing has changed. Thank you.

Ashley: I saw devon.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: And, uh, I talked to him about, you know, your relationship with him and, uh, how he’s feeling emotionally and everything.

Tucker: And?

Ashley: It’s not good.

Tucker: So bad that you don’t think you’ll be able to help us make peace.

Chance: I can’t even believe that I’m even considering going to work for the family business.

Sharon: It is your legacy. Your grandfather’s company. Now, half of chancellor-winters with your grandmother in charge.

Chance: Yeah. But growing up, I was just, I was more than disinterested. You know, I almost opposed the idea of doing it. And here we are now.

Sharon: Think it was a calling.

Chance: Mm. Maybe. Maybe, it was katherine’s voice, you know, whispering in my ear, telling me what to do. You know when my grandfather died, she stepped into the business, she didn’t know anything about it, but she made that place a huge success.

Sharon: That she did.

Chance: I’ll figure it out. I’m not too worried about it. Right now, I need to find a way to step down from the department without causing any kind of disruptions.

Sharon: Well, I think this is cause for a celebration.

Chance: What? Celebration for– for leaving a job? I– I don’t think that’s how it works.

Sharon: No, you have to do something special to mark the occasion of this big decision of yours. Your new life.

Chance: Yeah, that sounds great and all, but I think I am much more interested in celebrating you. Now, you are on the verge of something just as huge and life-changing.

Chelsea: Oh. Hi, sharon. Hey, chance.

Chance: Hey.

Summer: Hi.

Chance: Hi. Good to see you two. Um, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude. I, uh, I gotta get to the station. I still have a job ’til I don’t, right?

Summer: Wait, does that mean?

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, I’m stepping down.

Summer: Oh, my gosh, chance. That’s– that’s huge. But I mean it must feel good to have made a decision. I know it’s been weighing on you.

Chance: A little bit, yeah. I still have some reservations about it, but I think it was the right choice. And you know what? I have to thank you for being such a good friend and you know, talking me through everything. So, thank you.

Summer: Of course, anytime.

Chance: Well, uh, I’ll see you all around.

Chelsea: Bye.

Febreze

Summer: Chelsea, these are great. I mean, honestly, such an improvement. You– you took my notes and you translated them for the design team really well.

Chelsea: Well, thank you. And you know chloe was a huge part of the process, so she deserves a lot of the credit.

Summer: Yeah. I am very appreciative that chloe stepped in when you had to work remotely to be with connor. She was an asset and I’m sorry she didn’t feel like we could all work together, but I get it. I’m a kind of a demanding boss, I guess.

Chelsea: Well, demanding in a good way. Really. You want everyone to do their best. You want what’s best for marchetti. And chloe, listen, I’m allowed to say this because she’s my best friend. She’s so smart. She’s incredibly talented, but she doesn’t like being told what to do. Oh, gosh, but I am gonna miss working with her.

Summer: I am too. I really am. And gosh, this year has been filled with upheaval and I would, um, I’d be happy with the status quo for a little while, honestly.

Chelsea: Mm. So, how’s your status quo?

Summer: Professionally, it’s– it’s pretty good, right? Personally, kind of a mess.

Chelsea: Kyle?

Summer: Our divorce is in progress.

Chelsea: Summer, I’m so sorry. The last time we spoke about personal stuff, you said that you were at peace with the end of the marriage and you were focusing on moving forward.

Summer: It’s still hard.

Chelsea: I get it. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you and kyle had some really wonderful memories. Some beautiful moments. And I’m sure you wouldn’t trade those in even if you knew how things were going to end.

Summer: True.

Chelsea: And you have harrison. I mean, you have your son. I know he’s your whole world.

Summer: Yeah, he really, really is.

Chelsea: So, there you have it. The good outweighs the bad. You just have to think of it that way.

Summer: Mm. Okay, I like that. You’ve been through this before, haven’t you?

Chelsea: Sadly, I have. Divorce is a very long, very rough road. I’m not denying that. But you just have to focus on all the wonderful things happening right now and all of the wonderful things that are going to happen. Speaking of which, um, I saw you talking to chance earlier.

Summer: Yeah?

Chelsea: Yeah, you had this expression on your face. And then a certain look on your face when he left. Um… is that something you would pursue? Are you interested in chance?

Summer: No, no. Okay.

[ Summer sighing ] I do like him. He’s been a really good friend to me, especially when my mom was gone. But it doesn’t matter because um, he’s seeing sharon. And I don’t want to interfere.

Chelsea: Are sharon and chance serious?

Summer: Okay. Why is everybody asking me that question? It’s so weird. I don’t know how serious they are, but they are in some kind of a relationship and I just don’t want to be the other woman.

Chelsea: Mm. Okay. Just answer me this. If things could work out, whichever way you wanted them to, what would that look like?

Jack: All that is to say, I am over the moon about having you back at jabot.

Kyle: Well, I’m excited too, dad.

Jack: You know, I think you should spend today getting caught up and then once we’re back in the building, get with your assistant and decide what projects you want to get involved with. We have a number of new products in the pipeline and I think your considerable expertise in marketing could come in real handy. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Kyle: That’s not really my area. Marketing is a long way from operations.

Jack: Well, I know that, but we still want your input. This is what I always wanted. Working side by side with my son. Just like I worked by your grandfather.

Kyle: This isn’t my first stint in the jabot executive suite, dad.

Jack: Well, I know that, but this seems different. Like it’s, well, like you’re here to stay.

Kyle: And I wouldn’t say I’m working by your side.

Jack: What do you mean?

Kyle: I’d have to call it one step removed. I’m down a rung or two.

Jack: Look, I know that’s a sore spot with you.

Kyle: Yeah. Not exactly. I mean, I’ve accepted that I don’t have to be co-ceo to make a significant impact at the family company.

Jack: Good. I’m glad to hear that. Look, this coo position is a key position. I have all the faith in the world in you and trust that you are going to give jabot your very best.

[ Phone ringing ]

Kyle: Yes.

Audra: I need to see you right away. In my suite.

Kyle: It can’t wait?

Audra: No, come here now.

Kyle: I’ll see you soon.

Ashley: I’m not going to give up on trying to mend your relationship with devon. It’s just gonna be more difficult than I thought to get him to forgive you, so you’re gonna have to work a little harder.

Tucker: I still don’t know why you care.

Ashley: We’ve been over this. Because of our grandson, because of dominic. And frankly, you’re a much nicer person when devon is in your life.

Tucker: I think this– the rift between devon and me is more business than personal. I think he’s– he’s concerned about chancellor-winters and my investment with mamie. You know the…

Ashley: Well, I think we both know that business and personal interests are never really completely separate. You and I are a shining example of that, aren’t we? I will help you get your relationship with devon back on track. I know how hard you worked. And you were in a good place and I know how much it means to you to spend time with dominic, so.

Tucker: It does mean a lot to me. I appreciate your intention.

Ashley: Look at us being civil.

Tucker: Hooray for us.

Ashley: It wasn’t too terrible.

Tucker: Yeah. We’ll see. See you later.

Ashley: Okay, bye.

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Jill: Would you be willing to step away from jabot and come work with me at chancellor-winters?

Cole: I don’t believe that this was a con on claire’s part. She’s convinced we’re her parents.

Victoria: But, it’s just– it’s not possible though, is it?

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Sloan is at home and calls out to Eric that she is getting the baby his bottle. Sloan then gets a call from Dimitri, who asks if she’s gotten Leo out of prison yet. Sloan tells him to give her a break as it’s only been a couple hours. Sloan reminds Dimitri that she’s also caring for a baby. Dimitri says that’s not his problem and orders her to do her job, or else his next call will be to the baby’s real mother.

Nicole sits at home with her phone. EJ walks in and talks about his work call taking so long even on Thanksgiving. EJ asks if she wants more tea or something to eat but Nicole says she’s fine. Nicole asks if everyone else went out for Thanksgiving. Holly then walks in and is surprised to see Nicole is home.

Theresa calls that very gallant of Alex to come to her defense like that as she doesn’t think anyone’s ever done that for her before. Alex calls the knight in shining armor routine new for him too but says she had a rough day and Xander got what he deserved. Theresa checks on Alex’s hand. Alex admits it hurt and hopes that she knows she’s not the problem for Xander. Theresa states that he has lots of problems because of her. Alex argues that Xander always wants something he can’t have but he’s never going to be able to trade places with him. Theresa then asks why they are wasting time talking about Xander and suggests they go home.

Steve tells Maggie that he didn’t want to say anything until he had more information, but it’s very possible that Konstantin orchestrated the kidnapping to score points with Maggie and Sarah. Konstantin swears he would never do that and that he had nothing to do with the kidnapping. Steve questions if it was just a coincidence that a mysterious stranger just wandered in as soon as he started watching the baby. Konstantin then shouts that it was not mysterious at all and reveals he knows who did it. Maggie questions him saying he knows who took Victoria. Konstantin flashes back to retrieving the baby from Theresa. Konstantin confirms that he does, so Steve asks who it was. Konstantin calls it very hard for him to say. Steve tells him to just spit it out. Konstantin knows he said Steve was mistaken but he’s starting to believe he’s not completely off base. Konstantin declares that the person who took Victoria did it because of him, to force his hand.

Holly says if EJ and Nicole want space, she’ll just go up to her room. Nicole stops her and apologizes for what happened at the hospital, snapping at her when she was just trying to make her feel better. Holly assures that it’s okay as she can’t imagine what she’s going through. Nicole thanks her. Holly asks if she needs anything. Nicole hugs her and declares that she has everything she needs in this room. Nicole tells Holly that she’s so grateful to have her as her daughter and she loves her so much.

Dimitri tells Sloan to acknowledge that she heard his request. Sloan assures that she did, especially the part where he was threatening her and her son. Dimitri asks for a response. Sloan tells him that she will leave her son at home on his first night to go deal with Leo. Dimitri tells her that she can come see him at the White Dove Motel when it’s done. Sloan hangs up as Eric comes home and tells Sloan that he finally got the baby back to sleep. Sloan apologizes for forgetting to warm up the bottle. Eric asks if everything is okay. Sloan tells him it’s not and she has to deal with a client. Eric questions it being on Thanksgiving. Sloan calls it an emergency and asks if he’ll be okay alone with the baby. Eric jokes that the men will hold down the fort. Sloan thanks him and calls him a lifesaver as she kisses him. Sloan then exits as she wishes Eric a happy Thanksgiving.

Alex and Theresa go home where Theresa holds frozen peas on his injured hand. Theresa hates that he got hurt but is so grateful that he came to her defense twice in one day. Alex responds that Xander had no right to talk to her that way while Konstantin doesn’t know either one of them. Alex knows Maggie likes Konstantin and he seemed okay at first, but he’s starting to wonder about him. Alex mentions wanting to stop by the Kiriakis Mansion tomorrow after being swamped at work. Alex invites Theresa to come with him but Theresa questions where their professional relationship leaves their personal relationship.

Maggie questions Konstantin about someone kidnapping her granddaughter to force his hand. Konstantin says it was people back in Greece which Steve questions. Konstantin claims that it all started with his loan from Victor to start his restaurant and says he had every intention of paying it back, but when he couldn’t. he turned to an unsavory man with connections to the Greek underworld to help him. Maggie asks if he’s talking about the mob. Konstantin admits he couldn’t pay him either so before he knew it, he owed twice as much. Steve asks what this has to do with baby Victoria. Konstantin claims he thinks this man or one of his associates took the baby to use as leverage. Steve wonders why Konstantin waited until now to say anything.

Marlena goes to see Eric and wishes him a happy Thanksgiving. Marlena hugs Eric and acknowledges that her son is now a dad. Marlena asks to see the baby. Eric says he just put him to sleep but she can look in on him. Marlena adds that she brought a present for the baby. Marlena mentions not knowing his name. Eric explains that he and Sloan haven’t agreed on one yet. Marlena asks where Sloan is so she can congratulate the new mom but Eric informs her that she stepped out on a client emergency.

The doorbell at the DiMera Mansion rings so EJ tells Nicole and Holly that he will get that. Holly tells Nicole that she seems a lot better today. Nicole responds that she is and with good reason. Nicole adds that there is something she wants to tell Holly that she didn’t want to say in front of EJ. Nicole then declares that her baby is alive.

EJ answers the door at the DiMera Mansion to see Sloan.

Steve asks Konstantin again why he waited until now to speak up if he knew the mobsters took Sarah’s baby. Konstantin claims that he didn’t put it together until today, but now he wonders if they were watching him all along or if they followed him to wait for an opening and then jumped at the opportunity. Konstantin tells Maggie that he’s sorry for putting her family in danger.

Theresa tells Alex that she doesn’t mean to put him on the spot, but they haven’t really defined what they had. Theresa says they slept together in Greece because he felt sorry for her but Alex insists that was not pity sex. Theresa says that afterwards, they agreed to step back and take things slow. Alex notes that is what Theresa said she wanted. Theresa points out that they are living together now and even with separate bedrooms, people that are taking it slow don’t really share a bathroom. Theresa asks Alex where they go from here. Alex asks if there is some place she’s hoping to go. Theresa points out that they went on one date already and asks how he feels about another date or if the situation is too messy for him.

Eric opens Marlena’s present which is baby shoes. Marlena brings up Nicole’s baby and doesn’t know how she lives with the pain. Eric acknowledges that she had high hopes. Marlena says she thought about stopping in on her and EJ but thought about giving them more time. Marlena asks if Eric has seen Nicole. Eric confirms he ran in to her today. Marlena asks how she seemed. Eric responds that she was grieving, but when she held his baby, she was convinced that he was her baby.

Holly questions how Nicole’s baby could be alive and what makes her think that. Nicole explains that Eric and Sloan adopted a newborn baby boy today and she ran in to Eric at the Pub today. Nicole says she asked to hold him and that’s when she knew he was her baby. Nicole adds that Eric and EJ didn’t believe her and she knows how it sounds, but insists that it’s the truth that the baby that Eric and Sloan adopted is the baby that she gave birth to. Nicole declares that he is her baby boy.

EJ asks what the hell Sloan wants. Sloan says she came to offer her condolences for the loss of his child first. EJ thanks her and asks what is second. Sloan responds that she came on behalf of her client, Leo Stark, and says EJ has to drop the murder charges against him because he’s not responsible for the death of his son. EJ asks if Leo isn’t responsible, then who is?

Konstantin tells Maggie that he has deep regret about bringing criminals to her doorstep but assures that he was never in cahoots with them. Steve calls it quite a story. Maggie says it’s quite troubling but she thanks Konstantin for being honest. Konstantin apologizes to Steve for not coming to him and John earlier. Steve warns that he’s just lucky that Victoria is safe. Steve tells Maggie that he’s going to head home as Kayla is finishing up her shift at the hospital and he’d like to spend the rest of the holiday with his wife. Maggie wishes them a happy Thanksgiving and thanks Steve for his help. Steve then exits the mansion.

Alex says he can’t deny that their situation is complicated. Theresa asks if that means he wants to keep the romance out of it and just be roommates and co-workers. Alex says he didn’t say that but they have a lot working against them as he has family members that aren’t thrilled about them being together. Theresa thought he didn’t care about what Xander said. Alex notes that Xander isn’t the only one that warned him about her as Brady pretty much told him that he’d be risking everything by letting her in to his life and his company. Theresa admits that she and Brady have a very long history and most of it is bad. Alex is sure that Brady has his own agenda. Alex says the bottom line is that Brady is not scaring him off, because he doesn’t scare that easily. Theresa says she’s noticed that about him and it makes her very happy because she’s trying to accept the roommate living situation thing they have going but admits it’s kind of killing her. Alex asks how so. Theresa declares that she’s so in to Alex and it keeps her up at night as she can’t wait to see him in the morning. Theresa states that being this close to him makes it so hard to pretend that she doesn’t want to rip off his clothes. Alex then kisses Theresa. Alex suggests they take it to the bedroom as they continue kissing.

Marlena tells Eric that it’s not too surprising that Nicole would believe his baby was her baby as the grief can be overwhelming and rather than trying to cope, she’s subconsciously trying to deny it. Eric says it’s just uncomfortable and sad as Nicole wouldn’t even give the baby back until EJ came out of the Pub and convinced her to. Marlena asks if she accepted it then. Eric says she seemed to, but he’s just not sure. Eric talks about how Nicole looked back at the baby as she walked away, as if she wasn’t letting go of him.

Sloan understands EJ needs to blame someone for the death of his son. EJ blames Leo for causing the car accident with Dimitri. Sloan argues that Leo is not at fault for that and the baby was alive when he arrived at the hospital so he did not die during a crime. EJ says if Sloan is so hellbent on saving Leo, then she should produce the driver of the car, Dimitri. EJ declares that if she can’t, he will see her in court. EJ tells Sloan to show herself out and heads back in to the living room. Sloan follows him to stop him. EJ questions what the hell she is doing. Sloan responds that she just wanted to talk to him more. EJ threatens to throw her out but Nicole stops him. Sloan greets Nicole but Nicole then questions why Sloan took her baby. Nicole demands an answer as to why she took his little boy. EJ tells her that they talked about this. Sloan says she heard from Eric. Nicole asks if he said she was crazy. Sloan says she’s truly sorry for her loss, but their son is not her son. Nicole questions who gave the baby to her and how she got him. EJ declares that it’s time for Sloan to leave but Nicole argues that she needs answers. EJ says not tonight. Nicole pleads with him. Sloan tells Nicole to listen to EJ and put an end to this for everybody’s sake. Holly tries to stop Nicole as Sloan exits. Nicole cries that she needs to know why Sloan and Eric have her baby.

Konstantin tells Maggie that he’s so sorry and feels that he has ruined her holidays. Maggie calls it very troubling. Konstantin says he doesn’t blame Steve for being suspicious of him as he’s sure it serves him well in his profession. Konstantin adds that Maggie is very lucky to have a friend so protective of her. Konstantin admits Steve is correct that it was his fault that her granddaughter was in danger. Maggie questions those people making Konstantin’s life hell for years, but she doesn’t condone his involvement with them and won’t tolerate having her family’s safety threatened in any way. Maggie declares that she needs Konstantin to leave now.

Alex and Theresa continue kissing and start to undress. Theresa mentions that she has her clothes all over her floor and bed so suggests going to Alex’s room, but Alex admits he hasn’t changed his sheets since they moved in. Theresa refuses to get naked in there then, so they decide on the couch and continue kissing.

Marlena tells Eric that she’s sorry that he had an uncomfortable moment with Nicole. Eric states that she doesn’t deserve any of this and he just feels blessed to be a dad while he can’t imagine losing him. Marlena tells Eric that she’s so happy for him as he’s waited so long for this. Marlena decides she should get going and reminds Eric to name the baby. Eric says they will work on that and adds that they are planning a christening. Marlena says she’s looking forward to it and tells Eric not to worry too much about Nicole as she’ll figure a way through this. Eric thanks Marlena as she then exits.

Nicole questions why EJ let Sloan leave without going after her. EJ understands how upsetting it must have been to see Eric out with his son today. Nicole argues that it was their son and she needs to get him back from Sloan. EJ tells her that going after Sloan will just make her angry and sadder. EJ says they will discuss this further when she calms down. EJ tells Nicole that he loves her and that they will figure this out together. Nicole cries that she just wants her baby back as EJ hugs her.

Alex and Theresa lay on the couch after having sex. Theresa says who needs a bed while Alex agrees that sheets just get in the way. Theresa calls the couch enjoyable while Alex jokes that the floor wasn’t too bad either. Alex assures her that it was not pity sex. Theresa thanks him and suggests maybe they have dinner first next time, assuming there will be a next time. Alex assures there will be. Theresa jokes that maybe next time they can even try a bed as they continue kissing.

Konstantin questions Maggie wanting him to leave. Maggie is sure he will understand that the safety of her family will always be her first priority. Konstantin says he understands and respects that, but he doesn’t know where to go. Maggie suggests the Salem Inn for tonight until he books his flight back to Greece. Konstantin says he can’t afford to. Maggie gets that money is obviously an issue for him and since his debt was incurred because of her husband, she will pay off his debt to Victor. Konstantin says he can’t let that happen but Maggie insists. Maggie believes he’s a good man, who got involved in a very bad and dangerous situation. Maggie repeats that she doesn’t condone him borrowing money from a criminal because he was desperate. Maggie says she’s not judging him but she can’t have that danger around her family. Maggie agrees to give him enough to pay for his night at the Salem Inn and then she will cover his flight back to Greece. Maggie says she’s sorry it came to this. Konstantin says he’s heartbroken as he cares for her and her friendship is a blessing to him, but he understands she’s keeping her family safe and he will respect her wishes. Maggie decides she will pay off the criminals that harassed him and then maybe, he can get his life back. Konstantin thanks her for all that she has done and says her kindness and support means more than she’ll ever know. Konstantin goes to pack his things.

Steve walks through the town square and calls John. Steve knows they said no calls on the holidays but he didn’t think this could wait. Steve informs John that he just came from Maggie’s and he’ll never guess what Konstantin is claiming now. Steve reveals that Konstantin said Sarah’s baby being kidnapped was because of Greek mobsters that he owed money to and Maggie believed him. Steve thinks they need to step up their investigation and get Konstantin out of Maggie’s life before she gets in any deeper.

Sloan goes to see Dimitri at the motel. Dimitri complains that it took her long enough and asks if she talked to EJ. Sloan confirms that she did and claims the charges against Leo will be dropped in the morning. Dimitri tells her good work and that he knew she could do it.

EJ brings Nicole a glass of water and asks how she’s feeling. Nicole responds that she’s better now thanks to him. Nicole apologizes for earlier. EJ says there’s no need to apologize. Nicole knows EJ doesn’t think it’s possible that Sloan’s baby could be their baby. EJ understands that she does, so he’s not going to try to convince her otherwise. EJ calls it one of the longest days of his life and he’s sure she feels the same. EJ points out that it’s still Thanksgiving and they have a lot to be grateful for. EJ feels things will look a lot different in the morning. Nicole hopes so as she feels so bad for falling apart in front of Holly since she looked so worried. Nicole asks if EJ knows where Holly went.

Holly goes to see Eric, who calls it a nice surprise and wishes her a happy Thanksgiving. Eric asks if something is wrong and if her mom is okay. Holly responds that she was just with her and she still believes his baby is her baby, so that’s why she is here. Holly had an idea that maybe would put Nicole’s mind at ease. Holly asks if Eric would be willing to perform a DNA test on her baby. Holly assures that she knows the baby isn’t Nicole’s, but thought maybe if they could prove it to Nicole then she’ll have to let it go. Holly knows it will be hard for Nicole to face the truth but at least she would know for sure that the baby is not her baby.

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

[mellow country music]

Why don’t we do this breakfast thing more often?

Because I own a bakery.

Yes, but you finally found someone to replace Talia, right, so you’ll be having a lot more free time now.

Yes, and I plan to spend it with my handsome, supportive boyfriend.

Well, I won’t tell him that you’re with me.

[laughs] Yeah. You just keep that to yourself.

For sure. What are you having?

Oh, I don’t know yet. Oh, where’d you get that bracelet? I’ve never seen it before.

Oh, um, yeah. Holly made it for me. It’s cute, right?

Holly made you a bracelet?

Yeah.

Oh, Johnny. And you still don’t think that girl has a crush on you?

[soft calculating music]

Yeah, you’ve got a little bit of, uh– got some gravy right there.

Oh, my God.

Yeah, just the–

This is so embarrassing.

No, don’t worry. It’s not like I’m gonna take a pic and post it on social media.

I’d kill you if you did.

[laughs] Um, did I get it all?

Uh, almost, but you missed a spot right there. Got it.

[sighs] Okay. Focus, girl. You can’t sit around dreaming about Johnny all day. Mom is really struggling. She needs you to help her.

[sighs]

[sighs] Okay. Sloan said that she got Leo’s murder charges dropped, so it’s gotta be in here somewhere. Now where is it? Leo, Leo, Leo, Leo. Here it is, “Leo Stark”… “To be arraigned on murder charges.” What the hell is this?

Well, I’m off to make sure Leo Stark is held responsible for our baby’s death. You’ll be all right?

I’ll be fine. You go do what you have to do.

I just wish that my nephew Dimitri was also in custody.

Yeah, well he’s the only one who really knows what happened that night.

Nicole, we know what happened that night. Dimitri brought him into the hospital, where Dr. Pierce tried to save his life but couldn’t. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I told you last night that I wouldn’t keep trying to convince you.

That the baby Eric and Sloan adopted is not ours. You don’t have to.

Then you’re letting it go? You’ve accepted that– you’ve accepted that our child is gone?

I have. It’s just that there’s so many unanswered questions from that night, and I just– I don’t know if I’ll feel at peace unless I know the whole story.

I know.

Hi, Eric.

Holly. Hey, everything okay?

Yeah. Yeah. Uh, no. Um, I just wanted to confirm that you’re still going to do the DNA test today.

I am. I, uh–I set up an appointment with my aunt Kayla.

That’s great. Thank you so much for doing this. I-I honestly think this might be the only way to prove to my mom that your baby isn’t hers.

Does she know about the test?

No, I didn’t want to say anything in case you changed your mind.

Holly, you know that I’m happy to help put your mom’s mind at ease in any way I can. I just–I just need to talk to someone about this first.

Talk to me about what?

[mysterious music]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Okay, Chanel, this is a friendship bracelet. “Friendship” being the operative word.

Yeah, right.

[laughs] What, “Yeah, right”? She made it for me to thank me for spending Thanksgiving with her.

Mm, yeah. Um, Johnny, I know how teenage girls are. I-I was one. And when I was into someone, look out.

[laughs] Okay. Holly is not “into” me. All right? I told you, she already admitted she was crushing on somebody else, my dad.

Yeah, and that doesn’t seem weird to you? I mean, for one, EJ is her stepfather. And if Holly is crushing on EJ, then why is she making gifts for you?

Chanel’s right. Holly doesn’t have a crush on EJ.

[unsettling guitar music]

Who are you talking to?

I’m guessing you’ll need to get back to me.

Yeah, I do. I don’t think it’s gonna be an issue. But I will text you to confirm.

Okay. Thanks again.

You got it. Bye.

Who was that?

Uh, Holly. That was Nicole’s daughter. She’s worried about her mom.

Well, is Nicole still fixated on that crazy idea that our baby is hers?

I’m afraid so, which is why Holly…

[phone beeps]

Can you just–I’m sorry– hold that thought real quick? I’m expecting to hear from the judge in Leo Stark’s case.

What’s going on with that?

Oh, well, I filed a motion this morning to have the murder charges dropped ahead of his arraignment.

[eerie music]

Good morning, Mr. Stark.

[groans]

[hums] Uh, this is where you say, “Good morning, DA DiMera.”

Well, first of all, it’s not a good morning at all. It is a miserable, sucky morning, but more importantly, I’m not speaking with you without my attorney present.

Oh, that’s fine. You don’t need to talk. I just wanted to let you know that I am going to absolutely relish throwing the book at you at the arraignment today. And I assume you’ve also been warned that, in addition to being charged with aiding abetting a wanted fugitive, you’re also being charged with the murder of my infant son.

Look, I am really sincerely sorry for what happened to your baby.

I thought you weren’t going to talk.

Well, I need to say this because I delivered that baby, and I’m heartsick that he didn’t make it. But that aside, my attorney has told me there is no way you can get this murder charge to stick.

Oh, I can. And I will. And that means you, Leo, my dear friend, are going to spend the rest of your miserable life behind bars.

[tense percussive music]

So EJ had to go to work, huh?

Yeah, he got a hearing about the Leo Stark case.

Oh, that’s too bad because I was hoping to talk to both of you guys.

What is it, honey?

[sighs] Well, I’ve been thinking a lot about the conversation we had last night, about the baby. I mean, I’m guessing you still believe that Sloan and Eric’s son is actually yours?

I do. And between us, I let EJ think that I’m letting go because I know that he’s convinced that this is some kind of denial or magical thinking, but, honey, I’m telling you, when I held him in my arms, I could feel it in my heart. I knew who he was. I knew that he was my son. I just–just wish there was a way I could prove it.

Maybe you can.

What do you mean?

Mom, I went to see Eric last night. And he agreed to have a DNA test done on the baby.

[gentle music]

Sorry for, uh, eavesdropping.

No, no. It’s okay. I’m just glad someone finally agrees with me about this whole Holly thing. So you agree that she doesn’t have a crush on EJ?

She doesn’t, at least, uh, not anymore. She told me she’s, uh, completely over him.

Mm, but you are saying that she did have a crush on him, right?

What–what do you mean?

Well, Chanel here thinks that the whole thing about Holly being into my dad is just a cover story and that she’s really crushing on me.

You?

Me.

[laughs] No way. Yeah. No, definitely not.

Are you sure?

Positive. Yeah, no, Holly and I have gotten pretty tight. And we’re very honest and open with each other. She trusts me with all of her deepest and darkest secrets.

[eerie music] Okay.

Okay, what? You’ll help me bust them up, Johnny and Chanel?

I’m your friend, Holly. I-I want to see you happy.

[squeals] Tate, you are the best. And you know what? I will be happy. In fact, I’m gonna be over the moon once Johnny sees how wrong Chanel is for him. And then, by the time Christmas comes, he’ll be sharing dessert with me.

Well, if Holly hasn’t said anything to you about being into Johnny, then maybe I’m wrong.

Hey, real quick, do you mind if I just pull out a camera and record you saying that?

Okay. You put that phone away, or I’ll make you swallow it.

[laughs]

And I said, maybeI’m wrong.

I will still take it. Jeez. Well, Tate, sorry to have distracted you from your work.

No, no. All good. I’m actually glad I ran into you guys today. It reminded me of something important that I’m supposed to do. It, uh–it actually kind of involves Chanel.

[light country music]

So Eric thinks that Sloan will go along with the DNA test?

He didn’t seem too worried about it.

Oh, that’s–that’s great. I mean, when do we think we can do it?

Uh, Eric said he made an appointment for today. I’m guessing we just need a DNA sample from either you or EJ.

Yeah. That’s not a problem.

Okay. Mom, I hope you don’t mind that I did this without asking you first.

Honey, are you kidding me? I am so incredibly grateful that you would do something like this for me.

Okay. I just hate seeing you in pain. And I wanted to find a way to help.

Thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me. I know everyone thinks I’ve gone off the deep end, so it feels really good to know that at least I have my daughter on my side.

Always.

I love you.

I love you.

[sinister music]

Hey, how’d the judge rule?

Oh, it actually– it wasn’t from the judge. But it was about Leo’s case, and, uh, I’m so sorry, but I have to go deal with it.

Yeah, sure. Listen. Um, about Holly’s idea and Nicole and the baby–

Whatever you guys wanna do to make sure that she accepts the truth is fine by me, okay?

Yeah.

I’ll see you soon.

Sloan told me the felony murder rule doesn’t apply in my situation because your baby died at the hospital, which happened after Dimitri and I were fleeing the police, not during the actual crime.

[snickers] She tried to spin the story the same way with me. But it’s not accurate, is it? Because my son died of injuries sustained in the accident you and Dimitri caused, which means you are still very much responsible.

No, that can’t be right. Sloan would have mentioned that.

Mm, and I assume the reason she didn’t is because she was hoping to convince me to drop the charges based on her flimsy interpretation. She tried to, uh, sell it to the judge as well, who will, undoubtedly, not approve of her motion to get the murder charge dismissed, seeing how the doctor who treated my son gave a statement saying that his death was a direct result of your actions. Face it, Stark. You’re screwed.

[ominous music]

So how am I involved in this thing you’re supposed to do?

Well, I’m not sure if you heard, but I caused some damages at my old school that my dad is making me pay for, so–

Yeah. I did hear that.

[clears throat] Yeah. That’s how I got this gig picking up dirty dishes. But at the rate my uncle Roman is paying me, I’m gonna be working off this debt until I’m his age. So I’ve been looking desperately for a second job, and I was hoping, maybe, I could work at your bakery.

Uh, sure. We could use the help. Um, I will send you an application.

I am about to go on break. We could walk over right now, and I’ll fill one out. Sorry, I’m just anxious to get the ball rolling.

[laughs] No, yeah, and I-I hear you on that, Tate, but, um, Chanel and I haven’t even eaten yet, so.

No, no. Johnny, it’s fine. I’ll just walk him over and give him the application. And then you can order for us, and I’ll be back when the food gets here.

Okay.

Thanks, Chanel. I appreciate that.

Mm-hmm. Of course. I’ll be back.

[soft country music]

Okay. I’m assuming my toothbrush will provide enough DNA sample.

It seems to work on all those true crime shows I watch.

Yeah.

Uh, are you nervous?

Yes and no. No.

[sighs] But–I’m not worried.

Not even a little bit?

Honey… have you ever felt something so deep in your soul that nothing or no one could talk you out of it, something that felt so true that you would risk anything to make the rest of the world understand?

Yeah, I think I have.

That’s why I’m not worried. I’m hopeful. Now do you–do you think it’s too early to go to the hospital?

Uh… mm, no, I-I don’t think so. Eric just texted me. He and the baby are already there.

Oh.

[soft hopeful music]

Okay, call me a biased auntie, but that is one gorgeous baby.

Yeah, he’s a keeper.

Yeah. So tell me, what’s his name gonna be?

Well, Sloan and I haven’t had a chance to kind of come up with a name quite yet. So I kind of keep resorting to, like, “Champ” and “Big Guy” and “Kiddo,” sometimes maybe even a “Hey, You.”

Clever.

Yeah, well–

So tell me, what are you and Little Champ doing here?

Well, like I said in the text, I just wanted to see if it was possible to get a DNA test.

Of course. For the purposes of genetic testing, right?

Yeah, maybe somewhere down the road, but, I mean, right now I think, um, it’s more to prove that my cowboy here is my son and not EJ and Nicole’s son.

[sighs] But how did my actions cause the accident? I wasn’t the one who was driving.

Oh, I’m well-aware that it was your boyfriend, Dimitri. But, unfortunately, he is not here to face the consequences. You are. So unless you know where I can find him…

I don’t. I swear.

[sucks teeth] Then I guess it’s on you to carry the burden.

That’s not fair.

[tense music]

Don’t you dare talk to me about fair. What’s not fair is that my innocent child’s life was cut short thanks to you and my nephew. What’s not fair is that he barely had a chance to live. And now his mother is going to grieve and suffer for the rest of her life!

I know that. And, again, I am so, so sorry. But it was an accident. It was a terrible accident. No one ever intended for anyone to get hurt.

It doesn’t matter what you intended. All I have to prove is that you committed a crime, which directly led to the death of my son.

EJ, I did everything I could to try and save him. I delivered him with my own two hands. I saw the miracle of his birth. And after Dimitri rushed him to the hospital, I stayed with Nicole. I did not leave her side until help arrived. Doesn’t that count for anything?

No. No. Because in the end, my son is still dead.

I can explain about Leo.

You lied to me, Sloan. You stood on that very spot last night and you told me that you could convince EJ to drop the murder charges.

I tried my best. I built a strong case. He just wouldn’t listen.

Okay, well, that still leaves Leo on the hook for the murder of a child who is still very much alive and living in your apartment!

Look. I am far from being done on fighting to free Leo. I filed a motion this morning with the judge to have the murder charges thrown out. And I have high hopes that he will listen to reason.

That’s just not good enough, Sloan. You see, you didn’t hold up your end of the bargain. And now I have no choice but to call Nicole and tell her all about how you stole her baby.

Okay. All set.

Yeah, let’s go.

[phone rings]

Ooh. Oops. Oh, it’s an unknown caller. Maybe it’s the hospital. Hello.

Nicole?

Yes.

Yes, this is, uh, Dimitri Von Leuschner. Listen. We need to talk.

[suspenseful music]

Dimitri? I’m really glad you called.

And why is that?

‘Cause I need to talk to you about my baby. What happened when you left the crash site with my son?

Nicole, this is exactly why I’m calling. Look, I need you to–

[line disconnects]

Hello? Dimitri. Hello? Can you hear me?

What’s happening?

Damn it. I think we got disconnected.

Mom, what did he say?

He was gonna tell me what happened with my baby.

Really?

I was close to finding out exactly what happened, how Eric and Sloan ended up with my son.

Okay, well, your phone saved his number, though, right? Why can’t you just call him back?

Because I hadn’t thought of that. Okay. I’ll do it now, while–

[phone beeps]

[line trilling]

Sloan, give me back my phone.

[phone beeps]

Look, I know you’re upset that Leo’s still facing murder charges. But telling Nicole the truth isn’t gonna set your boyfriend free.

Is that right? How do you figure that? Because the way I see it, EJ has to drop the murder charges if he finds out that the kid isn’t actually dead.

Leo is still gonna be facing charges for a litany of other crimes. And, uh, like I said, we could be hearing back from the judge any minute now that he’s dropped the charges based on the motion I filed this morning. Maybe he already has. Oh, look at that, a missed call and a voicemail. Maybe this is some good news.

Thank you, Your Honor. I’ll see you later today in court.

What did he say?

Oh, as expected, the judge denied Sloan’s motion. The murder charge stays.

[dark music]

Well, what did the judge say?

I’m sorry, Dimitri.

Well, that’s it then. I’m telling Nicole everything.

No, please, you can’t.

The hell I can’t! Sloan, I am not letting Leo go away for murder.

He won’t. I promise you. In fact, I’ll– I can guarantee it. I can guarantee that Leo will walk, okay? But there’s just one thing that you have to do to ensure that.

What?

You have to turn yourself in.

[groans] Damn it. He’s not picking up, and I guess he’s not gonna call back.

[sighs] Okay. You know what? We should just get to the hospital.

[phone beeps]

[mysterious music]

Oh, wow.

Is something wrong?

No. Uh, it’s nothing. A friend texted about meeting up, and it’s kind of a big deal, but don’t worry, it can wait.

Honey, I can go to the hospital on my own.

Are you sure? Mom, I feel like I should be with you.

Just–I just have to give them a toothbrush, and then we wait, right?

[sighs] Okay. But if you need me–

No, honey. You have done enough already. Thanks to you, I’m gonna be reunited with my son.

Poor Nicole, believing this is her baby.

Which is why Holly came up with the idea to get the DNA test, to help her mom, you know, come to terms with the truth.

Well, it’s very kind of and Sloan to agree to all this.

I haven’t really had a chance to mention this to Sloan. Do I need her permission?

No. No. Just one parent needs to sign off.

Okay, good, because Sloan is getting very uncomfortable with Nicole claiming that this is her child.

I bet.

[phone beeps] Well, then she should be very relieved when the results come out, huh?

Yeah. Yeah. Good. Um, anyway, Nicole just said she’s on her way with the sample.

Super. Okay. Well, then let’s get started.

[soft country music]

Johnny? What a surprise.

Hey, Holly. Hey, how’s it going?

Hey. Are you eating alone?

Um, well, Chanel was here with me, but she, uh– she took Tate over to the bakery to apply for a job, so.

Oh, right. Yeah, no. He’s been talking about getting another gig. Uh, hey, do you mind if I sit with you until Chanel gets back?

No, not at all. Please, sit down.

You’re wearing the bracelet I made for you.

Yeah, of course.

It looks great. And I knew it would. And, you know, um, I’m actually glad that you and I have a chance to be alone.

Uh, why is that?

Well, because I have something I want to tell you. But I’d like to keep it between us.

Okay, I just need a sample from Nicole or EJ, and we’re all set.

Hi.

Hey.

Um, I-I have my sample.

Great.

This’ll–this’ll work, right?

Yeah. Yeah, it’ll be fine.

Thank you, Eric, for doing this.

Yeah, of course, anything I can do to help.

So, uh, how’s he doing?

Oh, he’s–he’s great. He’s sleeping right now.

Mind if I peek at him? I promise I won’t wake him.

Yeah, sure.

Oh. Oh, he’s so beautiful. Hey, little guy. Oh. I am so happy to see you. I’m sorry you had to be dragged to the hospital while you were trying to take a nice nap. But hopefully, in the end, it’ll all be worth it.

You are making a big mistake, EJ, going after me like this.

Yeah, why is that?

Don’t you check social media? Thanks to the support of “The Spectator,” the court of public opinion has already decided that I’m a victim.

You know that’s not a real court, right?

Maybe it’s the only one that counts. Everyone’s favorite gossip columnist becomes…

[gasps] The story himself, a young, misunderstood youngman caught up in a passionate love affair.

Oh, my God. Spare me.

It’s the truth, EJ. You should see my DMs. People are very invested in my happiness.

That’s before they knew you killed a baby.

I didn’t kill anyone.

Mm.

I delivered that little baby into the world, and then my very caring boyfriend took him to the hospital. Once people hear my side of the story, you’re the one who’s going to be screwed. People will see that you are trying to railroad me, and they will be calling for your resignation.

I hate to burst your bubble, Leo, but I think you’re vastly overestimating your influence.

You could not be more wrong, Mr. DA. My devoted fans are nothing if not loyal and protective. Remember the whole “Free Britney” movement? Well, “Free Lady Whistleblower” is gonna be even bigger.

[laughs] “Free Lady Whistleblower”? Oh, that’s delicious.

I-I see it already. There’s gonna be T-shirts, signs, protest songs. My former boss, Mayor Price, is going to have no choice but to fire you.

Nice try, Stark. But as usual, you are completely delusional. No one gives a rat’s ass about you, including your beloved Dimitri.

You want me to turn myself in?

Yes, so that we can make a trade with EJ. Since it was you behind that wheel and not Leo, you agree to plead guilty, and he walks.

Why? Why would I ever do that? If I can prove that Leo never murdered anyone, the only thing that he would be facing would be aiding and abetting, and you said that you could fight that.

Yes, but I can’t fight that if I am in prison for stealing Nicole’s baby.

Fine. I’ll find myself another lawyer. You’re not the only hotshot attorney in town, Sloan.

Well, you seem to be forgetting that EJ is incredibly dangerous, and he is going to torture and punish Leo and hold him responsible for your crimes. And since Leo’s already admitted to much of what he’s done, he is going to prison. Is that what you want? Maybe for the rest of his life.

[unsettling music] is that what you want?

No. No, of course not.

Well, then… what we need to do is make a trade with EJ, give him what he really wants, which is your head on a platter, since, after all, it was you driving when his pregnant wife was behind the wheel of that car when she got in the accident. I guess the real question here is, how much does Leo mean to you? Do you love him enough to sacrifice yourself in order to save him?

Dimitri loves me with all his heart. And contrary to popular belief, it’s actually quite big. Along with some other big and magical body parts.

Mm, and yet, here you sit while he’s probably off on some yacht somewhere enjoying the good life, flaunting those big and magical body parts and never looking back. Some great love affair.

Our love affair was real. It still is.

To you, perhaps, but to my nephew, your epic love story was nothing but a temporary diversion, and now you’re all alone.

Well, that’s not true.

[gasps] Sloan.

I just spoke to Dimitri Von Leuschner. He’s willing to turn himself in, EJ, as long as you drop all charges against Leo Stark.

Huh.

[somber music]

[laughs] I can’t believe I’m doing this. But Sloan is right. If I wanna guarantee Leo’s freedom, I have to turn myself in. I just never thought I’d do anything like this, sacrifice this much for another person. That’s how much I love you, Leo Stark.

[knock at door] Who the hell could that be?

[tense music]

Thank you for the tour. I never knew baking could be so interesting. You’re kind of a genius.

Okay. You don’t have to suck up to me just to get the job. Just fill this out and return it, and I’m sure we’ll find something for you.

Thank you so much.

You got it. All right, I am gonna head back to the pub.

Uh, wait. You can’t go back yet.

Why not?

Sounds serious.

It is.

What’s it about?

[sighs] My mom.

Right. Yeah, my dad told me that, uh, she thinks Eric and Sloan’s baby is hers.

It’s so sad, right? I mean, she’s totally convinced our little brother didn’t die and somehow Eric ended up with him.

That’s–it’s a lot.

Yeah, and I knew she wouldn’t get over it until she had proof, so I came up with a plan.

What kind of plan?

A DNA test, which they’re doing on Eric’s baby right now.

Uh, so what happens now?

I am gonna take these samples to the lab right now.

Okay, and how long do you think it’ll take?

Well, if we’re lucky, we’ll get the results back within the hour.

That’s great.

Yeah. Okay. And listen…

Thank you.

[laughs]

You guys can stay here and wait if you want, all right?

Okay.

Yeah.

Okay.

Thanks, Kayla.

Yeah. I’ll see you soon.

Oh. I can’t believe this. I’m about to have proof that this is my baby.
