Review of “The Flash: The Ninth and Final Season” [Blu-ray]

DVD Review!

THE FLASH: THE NINTH AND FINAL SEASON Blu-Ray DVD cover

The Flash: The Ninth and Final Season” Review by Suzanne 8/22/23

This is one of my favorite TV series, and I’m still in mourning that it ended. However, this season was so great that it almost makes up for it. I just wish the whole series had been as good as season 9. The writing was excellent this whole season, and they really pandered to long time fans (in a good way) by bringing back so many favorite characters like Hartley and Wally (but not Ralph, unfortunately), as well as other Arrowverse characters (especially Oliver). It would have been really nice to see Kara again, though.

The only drawback to the DVD is that there aren’t enough features. There is just the gag reel, some deleted scenes, and an entertaining featurette, “The Flash: The Saga of the Scarlett Speedster,” which is about the legacy of “The Flash” from comic books and TV series (it oddly never mentions the movies). I guess we’ll have to buy the complete series set to get more.

“The Flash” Season 9 delivers an exhilarating and satisfying conclusion to the beloved series, taking fans on an emotional rollercoaster through time, alternate realities, and the very essence of heroism. With a gripping narrative, impressive character development, and the return of familiar faces, this season proves to be a worthy and thrilling final chapter.

The ninth season kicks off with a bang, as Barry Allen faces off against a trio of formidable adversaries: Red Death, Bloodwork, and Cobalt Blue. The stakes are higher than ever as Barry navigates through time loops, alternate timelines, and his own past mistakes. The writers skillfully weave together complex storylines that keep viewers engaged and invested in the characters’ fates.

One of the standout aspects of this season is the exploration of destiny and choice. Barry’s struggle with fate versus free will is beautifully portrayed as he grapples with the idea that some events are predetermined while others are shaped by his decisions. This theme resonates not only with Barry’s journey but also with the overall conclusion of the Arrowverse, creating a profound sense of closure for fans who have followed these characters for years.

The return of familiar faces, including Jay Garrick and Eddie Thawne, adds a nostalgic layer to the season, tying up loose ends and providing heartfelt moments of reflection. The interactions between characters, especially the poignant moments between Barry and Eddie, tug at the heartstrings and remind us of the deep connections that have been built over the course of the series.

The action sequences are as electrifying as ever, showcasing Barry’s super-speed in creative and visually stunning ways. The battles against the season’s antagonists are epic and well-choreographed, creating moments of suspense and awe. The use of the Negative Speed Force as a central plot element adds a unique and intriguing dimension to the superhero dynamics.

The character growth throughout the season is commendable, particularly for supporting characters like Chester and Allegra, who step into their own as heroes. The relationships between characters are given the spotlight, leading to heartwarming resolutions and growth that feel earned and authentic.

The narrative structure, divided into “Graphic Novel” storyline arcs, keeps the pacing engaging and the momentum flowing. Each arc contributes to the overarching plot while also delving into character-driven moments, ensuring a well-rounded viewing experience.

In its final episodes, the season delivers a powerful message about legacy and the impact of a hero’s choices. The decision to introduce new speedsters in the closing moments of the series not only encapsulates the essence of “The Flash” but also leaves the door open for future stories and possibilities.

Overall, “The Flash” Season 9 is a captivating and emotional journey that celebrates the show’s legacy while delivering a fitting and memorable conclusion. With its intricate storytelling, exceptional character development, and pulse-pounding action, this season is a must-watch for fans of the series and the Arrowverse as a whole.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Nicole is in the living room of the DiMera Mansion as Johnny comes in from a swim. Johnny talks about enjoying the last of summer and tells Nicole that the water’s great, so she should take a swim. Nicole asks if Johnny has any plans tonight. Johnny thinks back to overhearing Chanel and Talia planning a date. Johnny then tells Nicole that he’s free as a bird.

Chanel walks through the town square and gets a call from Talia, who says she heard a rumor that Paulina is the new mayor and Rawlings is out on his ass. Chanel confirms it to be true and says it’s great for Salem, especially for her because she can reopen the Bakery. Talia calls that amazing news and says she’s so happy for her. Chanel thanks her and guesses Paulina really did have a plan after all. Talia says she understands if she can’t make it to the concert tonight since she’ll have a lot to do to get the Bakery up and running again. Chanel says it shouldn’t take long and that she can still make their date. Talia says she’s been looking forward to it all day and offers to pick her up from the Bakery in about 30 minutes which Chanel calls perfect as they hang up.

Johnny tells Nicole that he heard on the radio that Victor Kiriakis died in a plane crash. Nicole calls it awful. Johnny asks Nicole about being married to Victor once upon a time. Nicole confirms that she was just thinking about their marriage and says it was miserable as they totally despised each other. Nicole admits at one point in her life, she probably would’ve danced on his grave but admits part of her is going to miss Victor. Nicole remarks that Victor was not her least favorite ex-husband. Johnny congratulates Nicole on her engagement to EJ and asks if they’ve set a date. Nicole says not yet but notes that EJ went to get the forms for their marriage license.

EJ walks past the Brady Pub and bumps in to Melinda Trask, who tells him to watch where he’s going. EJ says he could say the same but he will just apologize because he has to get going to get marriage forms for he and Nicole. Melinda stops him and asks if he’s sure he wants to do that. EJ questions what that is supposed to mean. Melinda claims she’s just trying to give him some friendly advice. EJ questions them being friends when she’s spent the past decade trying to put him behind bars. Melinda says that was nothing personal but she just thinks he should really make sure he wants to commit to Nicole. EJ responds that he wants nothing more. Melinda asks if that’s because she’s pregnant. EJ states that he is very happy that Nicole is having his child. Melinda warns that if that’s the only reason he’d like nothing more than to marry her, maybe he should reconsider, as she then walks away.

Eric asks Sloan what she needs to tell him. Sloan thinks back to Melinda warning her not to tell Eric about Nicole’s baby being his. Sloan then asks Eric if he loves her. Eric assures that he does and that he wouldn’t have asked her to marry him if he didn’t. Eric asks her again what is going on. Sloan responds that there’s something she hasn’t told him as she’s been keeping a secret and she’s really worried that he’s going to be angry but it can’t wait any longer, so she prays that he will understand.

Wendy comes home as Li is cooking. Li tells Wendy that she will have to satisfy her hunger somewhere else because this is a special dinner for he and date so he’s going to need her to disappear for the night. Wendy complains that she just worked a 14 hour shift so she doesn’t want to go out while Li argues that she’s the one always pushing him about his love life, so he would think she’d be happy for him and willing to do him the kindness. Wendy reluctantly agrees but first asks who the lucky lady is. Li admits it’s Melinda which shocks Wendy. Wendy hopes he will send her through a metal detector before coming in, reminding that he couldn’t trust her. Li reveals that they have decided to start over. Wendy questions what changed his mind. Li says it was nothing specific but he thinks dating Melinda is exactly what he needs.

EJ tells Melinda that Nicole being pregnant with his child is not the only reason he’s marrying her and he doesn’t view it as an obligation as he happens to love her very much. Melinda quotes Shakespeare, noting that the road to true love is never smooth. Melinda warns him about them being left in the dark when the sun sets. EJ tells her to stop speaking in riddles and says she clearly has something to say to him, so he tells her to spit it out. Melinda guesses he’ll hear about it soon enough anyway.

Eric tells Sloan that she can tell him whatever it is. Sloan states that never in her life has she cared about anybody the way she cares about him, which is why she’s so scared because it’s the first time she has so much to lose. Eric assures that he’s not going anywhere and that he loves her. Eric asks what is on her mind. Sloan worries that she should’ve told him this so much sooner. Sloan then gets a sudden pain in her stomach. Eric asks if she’s okay and what’s wrong. Sloan complains of a really sharp pain but says it’s okay. Eric suggests they sit down and offers to call the doctor but Sloan says the pain is gone now and she thinks she’s okay. Eric still thinks they should get it checked out. Sloan thinks it’s gone but then gets the pain again so Eric decides they need to get her to the hospital.

Talia runs in to Kayla at the hospital and mentions that she just finished a session with Marlena. Kayla asks how that is going. Talia says it’s going really well and she thinks she’s making a lot of progress. Talia calls it one of the best things she’s ever done for herself, even if it was court ordered. Kayla praises her effort. Talia assures that she’s taking it very seriously and that she’s determined to make up for her mistakes. Talia points out that none of it is financially rewarding and she can’t lean on her sister forever. Talia notes that the only job she had was at the Bakery and that didn’t end well, but she will have to find something soon and she doesn’t know what it is. Kayla suggests that Talia could work at the hospital.

Chanel walks through the town square and comes across Wendy, who asks how she is doing. Chanel responds that she’s great now that she gets to bake again because she’s happy to report the Bakery is reopening. Wendy congratulates her and calls it a relief. Chanel tells her to come by tomorrow and she’ll hook her up. Wendy mentions that she was heading to the Bistro and invites Chanel to join her. Chanel says she would love to but she already has plans. Wendy hoped Chanel could keep her company since she’s been banished from the apartment while Li romances Melinda Trask which surprises Chanel. Wendy mentions that Tripp seems to think Melinda is not so bad but says he sees the best in everyone. Wendy jokes that it can be annoying. Chanel asks how come Tripp isn’t taking her to the Bistro. Wendy says he’s at work. Chanel admits Tripp is a really great guy so she’s happy for them both. Wendy thanks her and says she’s happy too but she wishes Johnny hadn’t gotten hurt in the process. Chanel assures that Johnny will bounce back. Wendy thought maybe Chanel could be the one to help Johnny pick up the pieces.

Johnny asks Nicole if Sami knows she and EJ are getting married again. Nicole jokes that there’s no knife in her back, so she doesn’t know. Johnny jokes that she does live on another continent. Nicole admits that if the day had gone differently, Sami could’ve had a front row seat as EJ had the idea for them to fly to Italy to get married. Johnny asks what stopped them. Nicole informs him that Dimitri took the DiMera Jet to Iceland for his honeymoon. Johnny says that’s too bad and jokes that they could’ve just flown commercial. Johnny admits it was a nice idea, even if they did totally steal it from him. Nicole remembers that Johnny and Chanel did elope in Rome. Johnny calls that the best day of his life. Nicole says it sounds like he really loved her. Johnny admits that he still does.

Melinda tells EJ that if this were anyone else, she might feel bad but EJ is not a nice guy so she’s going to enjoy watching him process what she’s about to tell him. EJ asks what it is, but Melinda gets a call from Li, who informs her that he has a homecooked meal and a bottle of red wine, hoping she would grace him with her lovely presence for dinner now. Melinda calls it a late notice. Li says he did text her but he knows she’s a busy woman. Li adds that he’d really like to see her tonight and thought maybe she’d like to see him too, but he understands if she has something more important going on. Li asks if he should text her his address. Melinda admits that dinner sounds lovely, so she’ll be there soon and they hang up. EJ then questions why Melinda is hinting that he shouldn’t marry Nicole and if she’s cooking up some false charges against her. Melinda tells him to just forget she said anything. EJ asks if she’s kidding after all that. Melinda jokes that she’s glad they got to talk and then walks away, leaving EJ frustrated.

Nicole tells Johnny that she and EJ got divorced twice, but somehow they found their way back to each other, so maybe the same will happen for Johnny and Chanel. Johnny admits he was hoping for that and he was ready to tell Chanel how he felt, but Talia beat him to the punch. Johnny explains that he heard Talia and Chanel making plans to go on a date tonight, so he kept his mouth shut and left before they knew he was there. Nicole calls that crazy and questions why Chanel would agree to go out with Talia when she tried to destroy her life. Johnny says he has no clue but it seems like all is forgiven. Nicole calls that stupid after everything Talia did to Chanel and questions how she could be trusted again. Johnny doesn’t get it either but says he missed his chance, so he has to move on. Johnny jokes that maybe Li could set him up with his matchmaker. Nicole argues that he doesn’t need that and questions why he’s giving up so easily on Chanel. Nicole reminds Johnny that he is a DiMera. Johnny doesn’t know since Chanel seems pretty in to Talia. Nicole argues that’s only because she doesn’t know Johnny is an option. Nicole suggests Johnny throw his hat in the ring to let her know he’s available.

Chanel questions Wendy thinking she and Johnny should get back together. Wendy asks why not, pointing out that they were married once. Chanel feels that was a lifetime ago while Wendy says it’s obvious they still have a connection. Wendy adds that’s partly why she ended up choosing Tripp. Chanel questions what she’s talking about. Wendy is surprised that Johnny didn’t tell her. Chanel confirms that he didn’t say anything. Wendy explains that it seemed every time she turned around, Johnny was with Chanel and even though he claimed to want to be with her, it was clear that Chanel was his main priority. Chanel tells her that she’s so sorry as she never wanted to come between her and Johnny. Wendy says it’s fine and she knows it wasn’t intentional. Wendy adds that it helped her realize that Tripp is the man she wants to be with. Chanel is glad but thinks she misunderstood since Johnny was just being a good friend to her and nothing more. Wendy asks if she’s sure about that since she’s pretty sure Johnny has unresolved feelings for her. Wendy asks if Chanel still has feelings for Johnny.

Talia excitedly tells Kayla that she would love to work at the hospital and asks what positions she has open. Kayla brings up Talia having her medical degree and suggests she be a doctor. Talia is surprised that Kayla would want her to be a doctor despite knowing what she did. Kayla says she’s not saying her criminal record won’t be an issue and it’s not just her decision, but she’s working hard and she believes in second chances, so she will go to bat for her. Talia thanks her and promises to work her ass off if it happens. Kayla says she has no doubt. Talia says she won’t let her down. Kayla agrees to let her know what happens as she walks away. Eric then brings Sloan in. Talia asks what’s wrong with her as Sloan then passes out in Eric’s arms.

Melinda goes to Li’s apartment and tells herself to forget Sloan as she will get the goods on Li herself.

Li prepares for his date and says if he can sweep Melinda off her feet, maybe she won’t prosecute him, so he just has to turn up the charm. Melinda then knocks on the door so Li answers and invites her in. Li knows he didn’t give her much notice but he’s thrilled that she’s there. Li says she sounded like she was in the middle of something when he called. Melinda says it was nothing important as she had just run into EJ at the Pub. Li agrees that’s of little importance then. Melinda admits that EJ was pompous and testy, claiming that she was merely congratulating EJ on his engagement to Nicole.

Nicole urges Johnny to tell Chanel how he feels since they have so much history. Johnny points out that the whole love triangle thing hasn’t worked out for him since he lost Chanel to Allie and then lost Wendy to Tripp, so he doesn’t think his fragile ego could take a third strike. Nicole admits that rejection can be demoralizing and feels like she spent her whole life being second fiddle and a loser in love. Nicole encourages that he can’t give up as she didn’t. Johnny feels it would be best for everyone if he just backed off. Nicole reminds Johnny that he just said marrying Chanel was the best day of his life and asks if it’s not worth fighting for more days like that for love.

Chanel tells Wendy that earlier this year, she did feel a spark with Johnny but she was with Allie and didn’t want to cross any lines, then when things blew up with Allie anyway, Johnny was with Wendy, so she thinks they might have missed their moment. Wendy asks what about now since they are both free and moments can come back around. Chanel reveals that her plans tonight are actually with Talia and it’s their first official date which surprises Wendy. Chanel explains that Talia was being manipulated by her boyfriend and she’s truly sorry. Wendy says she doesn’t have to justify it as it’s cool and she’s happy for her, but she just thought there could be something with her and Johnny. Chanel thinks Wendy might be off base about Johnny’s feelings since he hasn’t said anything to her. Chanel suggests it may be best to move forward and not backward. Wendy hopes things work out with her and Talia. Chanel notes that Talia should be here by now, so she wonders what’s keeping her.

Talia checks on Sloan after she’s passed out and notes that she has no pulse and she’s not breathing. Eric screams for help as Talia mentions that she’s a doctor, so Eric asks Talia to please help her. Kayla rushes over and asks what’s going on. Eric explains that she was having a sharp pain so he brought her in, but then she just collapsed and she wasn’t breathing. Talia finds a pulse and tells Kayla that she’s sorry but there was no one else around. Kayla tells her not to apologize as saved Sloan’s life, but says she will take it from here as Eric thanks Talia.

EJ comes home as Nicole feels the baby kick for the first time. Nicole asks how it went at the courthouse but EJ reveals that they were closed by the time he got there, so he’ll have to wait until tomorrow to get those forms. Nicole says that’s too bad but she thought he left with plenty of time to spare. EJ explains that he did but then Melinda Trask turned up and they had the strangest encounter which Nicole asks about. EJ says he mentioned they were engaged and then Melinda implied that there was some reason he shouldn’t marry her.

Li and Melinda eat dinner. Melinda calls it lovely as she can’t remember the last time someone cooked for him. Li feels it’s the least he could do since she forgave him for literally running out on her. Melinda acknowledges that she can’t blame him since she did try to get him to confess to a crime he didn’t commit, so she thanks him for forgiving her for that. Li calls them even. Melinda admits that she sometimes has problems prioritizing as she focuses so much on her job that it gets in the way of her personal life. Li relates since his life revolved around DiMera Enterprises, but now that he’s stepped back, he finally feels free. Melinda wonders if she should do that too and concentrate on what really matters, like love. Li calls having dinner with him a step in the right direction. Melinda thinks it’s a little early to be calling this love. Li agrees and suggests a healthy attraction or a lustful desire. Melinda asks if he desires her then. Li questions if she has to ask and says he’ll fix that as he then kisses her.

Wendy tells Chanel that she has plenty of time to hang out, so she’ll keep her company until Talia gets there. Johnny then approaches and greets them. Wendy claims she was just leaving and says it’s good to see him as she then walks away. Johnny asks if it was something he said. Chanel says no and says nevermind. Johnny brings up hearing that Abe appointed Paulina as the new Mayor. Chanel confirms that means she gets to reopen the Bakery. Johnny guesses she must be busy getting things ready. Chanel informs him that she actually has a date and she knows he won’t approve. Johnny then reveals that he knows it’s with Talia since he went by her place and heard them making plans, but he didn’t want to interrupt the moment. Chanel calls that very considerate of him but she’s curious why he stopped by. Johnny reveals that he wanted to talk to her about something but Talia rushes up and interrupts them. Talia tells Chanel that she’s so sorry she’s late but she’s had a day. Chanel tells her not to worry as they can still make it before the concert starts if they hurry. Chanel reminds Johnny that he was about to say something but Johnny claims it was nothing important and tells them to go have a good time. Chanel thanks him and says they’ll talk later as she and Talia then walk away together.

Li and Melinda kiss until he asks if they should take this to the bedroom. Melinda asks if he doesn’t want to finish dinner. Li would rather get to this part of the evening, so Melinda rips open his shirt and agrees that it’s lustful desire as they continue kissing. They stop to grab the wine and then head to the bedroom.

Nicole asks EJ if Melinda said why he shouldn’t marry her. EJ says she was very cryptic about it and then she was called away and said he’d find out another time. Nicole calls that bizarre. EJ doesn’t suppose she has any idea what she was talking about. Nicole mentions that Melinda was pissed off when she caught her tampering with a witness during Rafe’s trial but that was over a year ago. EJ suggests it has nothing to do with her and that Melinda was just playing mind games. Nicole guesses Melinda wants them to be as miserable as she is and suggests forgetting about it which EJ agrees with and then they feel the baby kick again. Nicole still can’t believe this is happening for them. They say I love you to each other and kiss.

Eric and Kayla have Sloan checked out. Sloan says she’s fine but worried about the baby. Eric asks Kayla how it’s looking and if the baby is okay. Kayla responds that she’s sorry but there’s no heartbeat as she reveals the baby didn’t make it. Eric and Sloan then both begin to cry.

Melinda shows up in a panic at Sloan’s door. Sloan comments on not expecting to see her while Melinda frantically asks if Eric is home. Sloan says he’s not so Melinda hurries inside and reminds Sloan that she said she would owe her a favor. Sloan calls it extortion. Melinda says she doesn’t care what she calls it and declares that her first payment is due today.

Nicole enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion where she notes an odd look on EJ’s face, so she asks what happened. EJ then informs Nicole that Victor is dead.

Shawn is drinking at the bar when Eric walks in and says he heard about Victor and he’s real sorry, guessing that Shawn has heard too.

Outside the Pub, Belle asks Chloe if she’s really considering accepting Xander’s proposal. Chloe confirms she told him that she needed time to think about it, but so far she hasn’t found a reason to say no. Brady then approaches so Chloe asks how long he’s been standing there. Brady says long enough.

Xander goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and enters the living room, looking for Maggie, but instead he finds Sarah, who turns around, revealing to Xander that she is pregnant which shocks him. Xander points out that she’s really pregnant and asks how he’s just finding out about this. Sarah states that she just got here to be there for her mom. Xander questions her not calling him or sending an e-mail. Sarah asks him to keep it down because Maggie is trying to rest and isn’t doing okay. Xander says he’s sorry and he knows how much Maggie loved Victor. Sarah acknowledges that he did too, so she’s really sorry for his loss. Xander asks if she’s kidding by offering him condolences and asks her to explain why she didn’t tell him that she’s having his baby.

Chloe questions Brady spying on her while Brady questions her needing time to consider marrying a kidnapping Neanderthal who left her with a drug lord. Belle offers to leave them but Chloe tells Brady that this is none of his business. Brady asks if Xander is drugging Chloe to get her to forget how he treats people. Brady complains that he went to see Xander to apologize for kissing her and he hit him because that’s who he is. Chloe points out that Xander didn’t know about that. Chloe argues that Victor is dead and all he could find to do was fight about her.

Eric asks Shawn why Belle isn’t here with him. Shawn argues that it doesn’t matter and that Victor is dead either way. Eric comments on Shawn not taking this well. Shawn blames himself which Eric questions. Shawn argues that Victor was on the plane because he put Bo in a coma and now he had to spend his last four months of his life miserable and now he’s dead because of him. Eric argues that it doesn’t make sense. Shawn asks who the hell asked him.

EJ apologizes to Nicole for blurting it out like that and admits he was pretty shocked himself. Nicole says it’s okay as she had to find out. Nicole asks what happened. EJ explains that he was flying back from Greece and his plane went down. Nicole calls that horrible and she can’t believe it’s hitting her so hard. EJ understands it’s shocking and acknowledges that Nicole was married to Victor, so he’s sure there were some good memories from that time. Nicole responds that there actually weren’t as they weren’t exactly a love match. Nicole then flashes back to her marriage to Victor. Nicole can’t believe the things Victor said to her still sting after all these years. EJ wonders if Victor and Stefano have caught up in the great beyond yet, joking that they can torment each other for eternity. Nicole comments that they loved to hate each other.

Melinda informs Sloan that Abe is going to reclaim his job as mayor. Sloan asks if Abe got his memory back. Melinda explains that it’s a scam as he’s going to reclaim the position long enough to appoint his successor; Paulina, which shocks Sloan. Sloan asks how the hell Paulina is qualified. Melinda has no idea but says it’s definitely happening. Melinda brings up that she went after Paulina and Chanel pretty hard for what happened to Sloan’s parents, so now she worries that Paulina is going to fire her because she hates her. Sloan remarks that payback’s a bitch and asks how she’s going to fight her off. Melinda says she’ll have a headlining grabbing case and a high profile defendant; the attempt on Stefan DiMera’s life and the man behind it: Li Shin. Sloan comments that it sounds surefire if she had any proof but she already failed at that. Melinda is not worried about no proof being the only thing standing in her way, because that’s where Sloan comes in.

Eric suggests to Shawn that they get some air instead of doing this in public, reminding him that he had just gotten suspended for drinking. Shawn points out that he came back from that and got promoted, so he jokes that if he keeps it up, maybe they’ll make him Mayor. Eric warns that if Shawn keeps this up, he could lose Belle. Shawn suggests Eric go see if Sloan has any cravings and get the hell out of here.

EJ asks Nicole if she has any cravings. Nicole jokes that she can’t drink so he’ll have to drink enough for both of them. Nicole remarks that Victor was such a son of a bitch who treated her worse than dirt, but like she deserved. Nicole then admits that she is going to miss Victor and she can’t think about Salem without him. EJ states that Victor was so damn alive. Nicole adds that Victor was funny and it’s infuriating because he would say something awful to her but she had to try not to laugh. Nicole admits she tried to say scathing things back to him but she was no match for him. Nicole adds that she’s sure EJ is really enjoying her talking about her ex-husband. EJ says he doesn’t mind her going on about anything and says he’s never close to bored with her. EJ suggests they get married now. Nicole asks why since they haven’t planned anything and don’t even know where they are getting married. EJ feels none of that matters and they should just get married and live every day like their last. EJ wants to use everything from their past failed marriages to make this work. EJ jokes that he’ll stop being an imperious jerk while Nicole stays exactly the same. EJ says they could have the time of their lives.

Sloan tells Melinda that she’s not a detective and asks how she’s supposed to dig up dirt on Li when she couldn’t. Melinda clarifies that she needs her talents as a lawyer, specifically to be Li’s lawyer. Sloan doesn’t understand how that would help her. Melinda admits that it won’t and tells Sloan to think it through. Sloan then realizes that Melinda wants her to help her convict her own client.

Brady tells Chloe that there was no fight and that they put it all aside when they started talking about Victor and they actually hugged, which he’s sure Victor got a good laugh about it. Brady asks Belle how Shawn is taking it. Belle admits he’s taking it pretty badly and is blaming himself. Belle wishes Shawn would’ve been with Brady and Xander, so they could’ve shown him how wrong he is.

Xander tells Sarah that he knows they are divorced, but that’s still his kid and she has no right to keep it from him. Xander asks if Victor hadn’t died, how long he would’ve had to wait or if she ever would’ve told him. Xander questions her not telling him that he’s going to be a father. Sarah then responds that he’s not going to be a father and it’s none of his business because the baby isn’t his, it’s Rex’s. Xander questions Rex getting her pregnant and argues that she looks like she’s ready to deliver and far enough along that she had to get pregnant before she left Salem. Sarah explains that they didn’t get involved until they went to Chicago but there was once in Salem before she moved. Xander continues to question it, pointing out that it was one time with Rex versus all the time they were together which Sarah says she’s trying to forget. Xander argues that the odds are overwhelming that he’s the father and asks how she can be so sure that he’s not.

Belle says she has something to take care of and tells Brady to stop badgering Chloe about Xander because it’s not productive. Brady promises to do so. Belle hugs Chloe and tells her to keep her posted as she walks away. Chloe guesses Brady won’t keep his promise. Brady asks how he can. Brady admits part of his reaction is jealousy but argues that he knows who Xander is and that he’s dangerous. Brady adds that Xander didn’t propose because he’s in love with her but because he can’t have Sarah. Chloe remarks that he says that like it’s a bad thing.

Eric tells Shawn that he’s not leaving without him and offers to drive him home. Shawn tells Eric to leave him the hell alone and continues drinking.

Melinda explains to Sloan that Li will need a lawyer and she’s represented him before so they already have the relationship. Melinda then says Sloan will pass on the information that she gets from Li to her. Sloan complains about the idea of losing her license and giving birth in prison. Melinda tells her not to be so melodramatic. Sloan argues that this is a felony and she’s the district attorney so they will throw the book at her. Melinda shouts that she has no choice and her back is against the wall. Melinda feels when she pulls this off, she’ll be all over the papers so Paulina can’t touch her and if she tries, it will be seen as an abuse of power. Sloan says she can’t be serious. Melinda worries if that if she doesn’t do this, she’ll be out on the street and everything she’s built will be gone. Melinda cries that she will have nothing. Sloan argues that there has to be another way because she can’t do this. Melinda guesses she’s okay with Eric finding out that Nicole is pregnant with his baby then.

Nicole questions EJ wanting to elope tonight. EJ brings up what Salem weddings are like. EJ says they want to be surrounded by people they love and trust, who are happy they are together, and that’s only themselves. Nicole asks if they trust each other. EJ encourages that it could be fun. EJ wants to start being the husband she deserves, tonight.

Sloan questions if Melinda would tell Eric the truth just because she won’t break 10 laws to help her. Melinda argues that she would be the one investigating so no one would find out. Sloan thought they were friends and says she knows Melinda’s back is against the wall but this is too much. Melinda argues that it’s all she needs but Sloan refuses to do it. Melinda asks if she’s going to call her bluff and if she thinks she won’t tell Eric. Sloan hopes that she won’t but feels even if she does, it won’t go her way because her and Eric are growing closer every day. Sloan adds that Nicole is not the only one carrying Eric’s baby, so he might be upset but he won’t leave her and they will work through it. Melinda understands she wants that to be true but questions if she’s willing to risk it.

Shawn and Eric get in to a shoving match until Belle arrives and questions what’s going on. Eric calls it a friendly disagreement and says now that Belle is there, he’ll get going. Shawn reminds Eric that he asked him to stop. Eric tells Shawn that he still owes him and walks out of the bar. Belle asks if Shawn is okay. Shawn complains that everyone keeps asking him that and questions what the hell she’s doing there. Shawn then guesses that Eric called her and calls him a nosy son of a bitch. Belle states that Eric called because he cares and that’s who he is, where if something is wrong, he’s going to try to make it right.

Nicole questions EJ again about wanting to elope now. EJ confirms that he can call the DiMera Jet to take them where ever. Nicole questions him wanting to fly to Italy tonight. EJ says she can bring her daughter Holly and notes that his daughter Sydney is there so they can be flower girls. Nicole points out that would be involving Sami. EJ jokes about rubbing Sami’s nose in it. EJ encourages her to think of how beautiful they could make it, with no distractions or interruptions as if Salem doesn’t exist. EJ asks if Nicole is a little bit tempted as they kiss. Nicole then tells EJ to call the damn plane.

Sarah tells Xander that Victor is dead and Maggie is an absolute wreck, so she doesn’t feel up to being grilled about something that has nothing to do with him. Xander asks again how she can be so sure. Sarah argues that weeks went by between her and Xander being together and her sleeping with Rex. Sarah claims that’s why she and Rex are together now because they decided it was fate and questions why Xander even cares since he’s with Chloe now and Maggie and Bonnie said it’s pretty serious. Xander confirms that he just asked Chloe to marry him.

Brady questions Chloe being okay with being Xander’s second choice. Chloe clarifies that Xander’s past with Sarah is part of who he is, just like her past with Brady and Philip being part of who she is. Chloe acknowledges that she’s not with Brady because of the mess with Rachel and she’s not with Philip because he’s gone, while Xander fell in love with who she is after that. Chloe declares that there is nothing standing in their way. Brady says except for him and warns that next time, he might punch Xander back. Brady argues that everything Chloe said sounds like a rationalization and calls that a hell of a way to start a lifetime commitment. Chloe calls that unfair. Brady argues that he just wants her to wake up and asks if she’s even thought about why she hasn’t been able to say yes yet. Brady tells Chloe there’s a reason and she can still say no. Chloe argues that she doesn’t have time for this and storms off.

Belle tells Shawn that she came because he lost his grandfather and because she’s so scared that he’s going to spiral down out of guilt again. Belle encourages him of the progress he’s made with Marlena and asks him not to throw that all away. Shawn complains that no therapy will change the fact that this is his fault. Belle doesn’t think drinking is going to help and that it will just hurt the people that love him. Shawn respond that he just doesn’t think he’s as strong as she and Eric think he is.

Sloan argues that Melinda doesn’t think Eric will forgive her because she doesn’t forgive anyone for anything but they are not alike. Sloan believes if she explains it, Eric will understand. Melinda warns that she’s making a mistake. Sloan tells Melinda to go. Sloan then announces that she is telling Eric as soon as he gets back, so Melinda will no longer have a hold over her. Melinda warns Sloan not to do it because she will lose him if she does. Sloan says that’s her problem, not Melinda’s as Melinda then leaves the apartment.

EJ tells Nicole he spoke too soon as he finds out that Dimitri took the DiMera Jet on his honeymoon to Iceland and it’s too late for a commercial flight. Nicole asks if that means eloping is off. EJ says it’s not and they will just elope to Salem. EJ tells her that he will go to City Hall to get the forms for the license and after that, they’ll get married as soon as he can make it happen as they kiss. EJ says he shall return and then exits the mansion.

Sarah questions Xander marrying Chloe and remarks that it was fast. Xander says not as fast as Sarah and Rex. Sarah responds that they had motivation. Sarah asks when the big day is. Xander admits that Chloe’s still thinking about it, but he’s certain that she’s going to say yes sooner than later because she loves him for who he is and is very understanding of everything he’s done. Sarah remarks that she must have no standards, then apologizes and says that was uncalled for. Sarah asks if they are done here and says she’ll tell Maggie that he stopped by but it’s been a long day and she’s exhausted. Xander wishes her and Rex all the best with the baby, then tells her to let him know if it pops out with a Scottish accent. Xander then exits the mansion.

Shawn tells Belle that she said what she came to say and he loves that she has so much faith in him, but he’s not going anywhere, so he asks her to just leave him in peace. Belle refuses to go anywhere because her place is with him. Belle says he can drink himself into oblivion if he needs, but he’s not going to do it alone.

Brady sits alone in the Brady Pub and thinks back to Victor instructing him to steal Chloe away from Philip. Brady remarks that Victor was wrong about Chloe, but he wishes he was still around so he could prove it to him.

Chloe goes home frustrated. Xander greets her inside. Chloe asks if he went to see Maggie. Xander says no because she was resting, so he’ll just go see her tomorrow. Chloe never thought Victor was good enough for Maggie, but admits they were crazy about each other and she was so devoted to him. Chloe adds that she’s been thinking a lot about Maggie and how in spite of Victor’s past and things she disapproved of, she took a chance and went ahead and married him. Xander points out that it worked out for them and they were very happy together. Xander asks if that’s inspired her. Chloe confirms that she has been inspired to emulate Maggie and say yes to Xander. Chloe declares that she can’t wait to be his wife as they kiss.

Sarah sits alone in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. She grabs her phone and calls Rex. She tells him it’s hard and that Maggie’s really struggling but that’s not why she’s calling. Sarah then says yes to Rex’s proposal and says the sooner, the better.

Xander puts the ring on Chloe’s finger and they continue kissing.

Nicole sits alone in the living room of the DiMera Mansion and thinks back to Victor pushing her out of a window. Nicole remarks that at least this time, it has to be better than that.

Eric goes home to Sloan’s apartment and asks if she has any wine open because he just squandered the last half hour trying to get Shawn to stop drinking, but now he’d kill for a drink. Eric adds that Belle is with him now, so maybe she’ll get through to him. Eric then asks Sloan what’s wrong and if something happened. Sloan responds that there is something she has to tell him.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: I’m gonna go check on connor. For him to call anita and just sneak off like that?

Billy: It’s okay. I’ve got my eye on the door. He’s safe upstairs. He’s fine.

Chelsea: Still, I–

Adam: Look, he finally let us in. He told us how he really feels. Why don’t we just give him the space that he asked for?

Chelsea: He wants to be anywhere but here, and I didn’t realize. I mean, I know he was going through something, but I didn’t know just how much pain he was in.

Billy: Yeah, he is, and you knew something was going on and now, you know more. That’s a good thing.

Chelsea: He kept his feelings bottled up inside because he didn’t want to upset me. That is my worst fear. My issues becoming his issues. His burden.

Adam: No, stop. That– that is not what is happening here, chelsea.

Chelsea: You don’t know that.

Adam: Okay, you’re right. I– I don’t have the answers, but what I do know is– is guilt is pointless right now.

Billy: I’m surprised that he wants to go spend more time with anita though.

Chelsea: I think he just wants to be as far away from here as possible. What are we supposed to do? Just, like, up and move? I mean, your life is here.

Adam: I know.

Chelsea: He has to be by you and– and he has to be by me. My life is finally getting to a better place. To leave now would be…

Billy: We’ll figure it out.

Adam: Actually, we will figure it out since he’s our son.

Chelsea: Adam, billy has been there for connor, okay? He’s a part of my life, he’s part of our lives.

Adam: Yes, because I am not around enough.

Chelsea: That’s not what I’m saying.

Adam: Listen. Billy, thank you for your concern, but chelsea and I, we will take it from here.

[ Phone ringing ]

Chance: Hey.

Sharon: Hi.

Chance: Thanks for coming. Mm. Have a seat.

Sharon: Well, it sounded important.

Chance: Yeah. I, uh… I have some news.

Sharon: Good news, I hope?

Chance: Could be. Very surprising, that’s for sure.

Sharon: Tell me.

Chance: Things could be changing for me in a very big way. I’m done. That was so good, but I am now very late for my meeting.

Daniel: Now, tell me it wasn’t totally worth it though. The chocolate, the coconut.

Lily: Yes, yes, it was so good, but I’m very full and sleepy and I have a room full of department heads wondering why their ceo is late.

Daniel: Eh, totally worth the wait.

Lily: Yeah, easy for you to say because your omegasphere meeting is later. You can go take a nap if you want to.

Daniel: You know what? That, uh, nap idea actually sounds pretty good and having a room right upstairs, I don’t see why I shouldn’t do something like that.

Lily: Oh, my god. I hate you.

Daniel: I’m kidding. Look, I’m gonna sit here, I’m gonna drink my coffee and I’m gonna be on time for my meeting because… at least one of us should be punctual.

Lily: Okay, fine. It can be you.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Lily: “Okay, just a heads up, I am running behind.”

Daniel: Mm. You are so responsible. You are the consummate professional.

Lily: Oh, I know, I know, okay? So, I will see you at the office later?

Daniel: Mm-hmm. Yeah, you sure will. I’ll be the slacker with his feet up on the desk.

Lily: Okay, see you in a bit.

Daniel: Bye. Heather. Hey! I have been trying to get in touch with you. Please, sit down. Um, have you not got any of my messages?

Heather: Uh, no, I… I did. I just– I, um…

Daniel: Look, I wanted to say thank you, you know. Thank you for taking over for michael and for helping out with my mom. It really means a lot to me.

Heather: It’s just– you know, when I get focused on work, time slips away from me. I’m sorry.

Daniel: No, I remember.

[ Daniel laughing ] Um, you know, lucy shouldn’t have to be our go between though.

Heather: You’re right. You’re absolutely right.

Daniel: Are you okay? Come on, what’s going on? You seem a little weird.

Heather: Ah, this is hard for me to admit. I have been avoiding you.

Sharon: Okay, well enough with the suspense already. What is this life changing news?

Chance: So, I get a call from chief williams, right? Well, he’s not chief anymore. He’s retired from the force. I just– I call him chief for some reason still. Anyways, he’s been in portugal staying with heather before she got here, believe it or not.

Sharon: Oh, my god. Chance, you are the worst deliverer of news ever.

Chance: Okay, okay, okay. Paul retires, right? They name an interim chief for the time being. Nobody at the station thinks he’s right for the job, so when the police commission asked paul who he thinks should take over, he recommended me.

Sharon: Wow. Whoa, that is such a huge vote of confidence. Did you accept?

Chance: Well, I haven’t gotten the official offer just yet, but.

Sharon: Okay, but the offer will come in, right?

Chance: Sounds like it.

Sharon: How do you feel about it?

[ Chance sighing ]

Chance: It’s a big responsibility, right? It’s a big step up. It’s not just me and a partner working cases anymore.

Sharon: That’s true. I understand, but you know, you’ve had a lot of ambivalence this year about being a detective and I know it’s because it’s not all about just putting together evidence and building your case. There’s politics involved, relationships.

Chance: Always. And it kind of seems like the truth is, uh, an old fashioned ideal at this point.

Sharon: Maybe this is a new path. It’s still law enforcement, yes, but with more control and more impact possibly.

Chance: That’s what I think of. I think of paul and how he set the tone. He didn’t play any games. Didn’t let anything slide.

Sharon: So, when you think about having this position, how do you feel about it? Is it something you want?

[ Chance sighing ]

Chelsea: Billy and connor have become close. Billy has been able to explain things to a little boy who doesn’t wanna hear them from his mother. They spend a lot of time together, so for you to just dismiss him like that is actually not okay.

Billy: It’s all right.

Adam: You’re right. I am sorry that I diminished the role that you play in chelsea’s life and connor’s life.

Chelsea: Adam, I know you’re going through a lot lately. Everything that happened with the baby, so I’m sure the idea of connor leaving town hits you really hard.

Adam: I’m– I’m– I’m not thinking about me or my loss. All I’m thinking about right now is connor. He’s the only one that matters. And him running off to go be with anita is not gonna take connor’s pain away, okay? You mentioned that he should see a therapist. I think that’s the step we should take. I think he should talk to somebody who’s not his parent or his buddy, and someone that can help guide him to a better place.

Billy: I tend to agree. I mean, the fact that he did open up to us means he’s ready to talk.

Chelsea: Well, that’s great. You’re both right. Connor would absolutely benefit from therapy. But it doesn’t matter what we think if he doesn’t agree. He has to be ready and willing to take those first steps and we all know how hard that can be.

Adam: Wh–

Chelsea: Adam, I know our son. So do you. This is about so much more than talking to somebody. He made it very clear what he needs, what he wants and it’s to be far away from this place that’s causing him so much pain.

Adam: Yeah, and he’s gonna take that pain with him wherever he goes. We both know that, chelsea. The scenery, it changes nothing.

Chelsea: The first thing we have to do is listen to what he’s saying to us, okay? Hear him out. He has made it clear, adam. He doesn’t want to be here.

Adam: Okay, so– so you do want to leave?

Chelsea: I think the first step is we get him out of walnut grove where he’s being bullied and then, I– yeah, I think he should spend some time with anita. Maybe she wasn’t the best mom in the world, but they’ve gotten really close and connor adores her.

Adam: Chelsea, it’s still anita. I mean, god knows what kind of private advice that she’s gonna give him.

Chelsea: Oh, come on, adam. What is she gonna do? Teach him to grift? Give me a break.

Adam: No, that’s not what I’m talking about, but she just– she sees the world in a different way and it’s not usually in a positive and productive way.

Chelsea: Okay, so what do you suggest, hm? We keep connor here and he keeps doing therapy with sharon and he’s miserable? That hasn’t worked so far. Why would it work moving forward?

Adam: We take smaller steps. We put him in a different school and he spends more time at the ranch and he spends more time with me.

Chelsea: Are you really thinking about what connor needs or about what you want?

After advil. With cirkul, your water is deliciously flavored at the turn of a dial, with zero sugar and zero calories. And cirkul has over 40 flavors, so your water can be as unique as you are. Try cirkul at drinkcirkul.Com sometimes jonah wrestles with falling asleep…

Adam: Look, connor needs both of his parents. Taking my son hundreds of miles away, cutting him out of my life–

Billy: That’s not what she’s talking about doing, adam. She wouldn’t do that.

Adam: Are you still here?

Chelsea: Adam.

Adam: Chelsea, my son needs me and I need him. I mean, sharon is not the only therapist in town. Surely, we can find somebody else for him to talk to or we can get him into some support group and school is starting soon, okay? We will put him in a school that is not walnut grove. Hell, I’ll buy a frickin’ school if that’s what it takes.

Chelsea: You’re not listening to me or your son. He is a scared, little boy right now, adam, and I’m trying my best to make sure–

Connor: Stop it! Both of you!

Chance: You know, being a cop in this town definitely has its challenges, that’s for sure. Everybody thinks they’re above the law, everybody thinks they can manipulate it to suit them and take matters into their own hands and I get tired of that, so I have been questioning whether or not police work is where I belong.

Sharon: I understand, but you’re good at what you do and you said yourself, phyllis’ case reminded you of why you do it. It reignited your love for your job.

Chance: Absolutely. Getting down to the truth, following every lead, that’s gratifying. I love that. And when lives are hanging in the balance, I like making a difference too. So yes, I have been enjoying my job a lot more lately. But, you know what? I never really put too much thought into being a cop. It kind of just fell into my lap. Seemed right, you know? So, I’ve been trying to decide whether or not this is what I really want to do. It feels like this career chose me rather than I chose it. Does that make any sense?

Sharon: Yeah, yeah, I get it. Look at my winding career path. Coffee house owner, cosmetic spokesperson, magazine publisher, therapist.

Chance: Media tech mogul now.

Sharon: Yeah, well, hopefully soon. What about you?

Chance: I don’t know, sharon. I really don’t know. I like being out in the field. That’s where I belong. Working my own cases, doing my own thing. If I was police chief, I would be in charge of every case, you know? And the bureaucracy. I mean, I don’t– I don’t know. What do you think? You know a little bit about the gcpd.

Sharon: From when I was a victims liaison.

Chance: Do you see me as the chief of police?

Daniel: Wow, avoiding me, really? When did we get to that place? I mean, we are co-parents, for god’s sakes.

Heather: I know. I’m sorry. It’s just– you know, you– you have a lot going on with work and– and your mother and– and I didn’t want to interfere or um, distract you.

Daniel: God knows that I could’ve used a distraction from my mother’s shenanigans.

Heather: I just– I got the feeling that the whole family, you, summer, your mom, had some healing to do.

Daniel: Hm. Yeah, that’s for sure. You know my mother.

Heather: That I do.

Daniel: I would say that, um, some healing has happened, but you know, still got a long way to go. I mean, is that the reason why you’re avoiding me? It– I get the feeling that there’s something you’re not saying, so what is it, hm? Are you worried that I’m the same person that broke your heart and broke lucy’s heart? Is that why you’re staying away from me? Because it’s not the case. I’m not that person anymore. Next!

Daniel: I am not the same person that I was before. You know, the guy who totally screwed everything up. I would avoid that person too. I really would. But you know, now–

Heather: I know it’s different and you’re different and I can see that you really got your act together. I am tremendously proud of everything you’ve accomplished. It’s impressive. Video game designer, running your own division of this big company. Wow, you’ve– you’ve come a long way.

Daniel: Well, then, is it lucy? Did she say something?

Heather: No, of course not. You know that. She adores you. It’s often I can’t get her to stop talking about how talented her dad is.

Daniel: I like that. Yeah, you can– you can tell me more about that if you’d like.

Heather: I’m really grateful that you two have reconnected and that your relationship is solid again.

Daniel: Then I don’t get it. Why do you not want to be around me?

Heather: It’s not that I don’t want to be around you. It’s that I don’t want to complicate things. You have your life back on track, we’re doing great. We work as co-parents.

Daniel: I agree.

Heather: But we lead separate lives, so I’m just– I’m trying to keep it that way. Not blur any lines or confuse lucy. I just– I don’t want us to fall back into old patterns or make the other one uncomfortable.

Daniel: Almost sounds like you might be sticking around town for a while.

Heather: Maybe for a little while. I mean, my firm is officially closed. We shut down for three weeks every august, so you know, I don’t feel any rush to get back to portugal.

Daniel: That’s great. It is and I will take all the time I can get with lucy.

Heather: I think, to be honest, I didn’t share my plans right away because I wasn’t sure how’d you really feel about me sticking around town.

Daniel: I think it’s fantastic.

Sharon: You would be an amazing chief of police, if that’s what you decide you want. I suppose I wouldn’t mind you spending a little bit more time in an office, though I know you are an adrenaline junkie. I guess I’ll admit, I’d be glad to not see you in as much danger and you can use your sherlock holmes brain on all of the cases in your department, not just your own.

Chance: Yeah, this is true.

Sharon: There is one other really important question though.

Chance: What?

Sharon: Would you occasionally have to wear a suit? Because you look killer in a suit.

[ Chance chuckling ] The truth is only you can make this decision.

Chance: Yeah, I know, I know. I just value your perspective, that’s all. And I want to be ready if this official offer comes in.

Sharon: When it comes in.

Chance: You have made some solid points. Except for the whole suit thing. I don’t think I could ever be a suit guy, sorry.

Sharon: Um, james bond. Chance chancellor? Come on. Besides, you look sexy in anything you’re wearing or not wearing.

Connor: Please stop fighting about me.

Billy: Come here. Come sit down.

Chelsea: Sweetie, we weren’t fighting, okay? Your dad and i are just trying to figure out what’s best for you. What’s best for our family.

Connor: I already told you, I don’t wanna go back to walnut grove. I hate it there. Please? Can I go to a new school with new kids who won’t know anything about me or my family? And they’ll wanna be my friends.

Chelsea: But you have friends.

Connor: No, I don’T. Not really. Only johnny and he’s going away to another school. Everybody at walnut grove knows about my mom having issues and my dad fighting with his family. And they know about me and johnny finding out this year that we’re brothers. They talk about all of it when they think that I can’t hear them. Like I’m some kind of freak.

Billy: That’s gotta hurt.

Adam: Connor, I’m sorry that this has been hard on you. You know, your mom and I, we knew somewhat what was going on, but I wish you had shared this with us, how you felt before. And– and I understand why you didn’T. You’re a sensitive kid and you know, your mom and I, we love that about you. You knew that mom and I, we were struggling with our own issues and you were thinking about our feelings.

Billy: Connor, that just goes to show what a bright, great kid you are.

Connor: Yes, but that is not your job. It’s our job, okay? We’re multi-taskers. At least, we like to think we are anyway.

Chelsea: Your dad’s right. We can handle whatever you throw at us, but next time, just talk to us. Tell us what you’re feeling. Tell us that you need help. Don’t let it get to the point where you wanna run away.

Connor: When I was upstairs, I looked online and found a school near where anita lives. It’s for kids my age who have anxiety and depression.

Chelsea: You mean you found a school or you found a therapist?

Connor: No, I mean an actual school with classes and sports and kids. I guess it’s not just me who’s like this.

Chelsea: You found this just now when you went upstairs? Online?

Connor: To show you how serious I am. So you know how much I need to do this.

Adam: Listen, connor. This is a big move. I mean, are– are you sure there aren’t things here that will help you? I mean, I love having you here. We have so much fun together when we go to the ranch, at your games.

Connor: Can we look at the place? Please, dad. And if we like it, I could go. I won’t be that far away. You can visit me. A lot.

[ Both sighing ]

Chelsea: Connor, this is a big decision.

Connor: I don’t want to go to that bad place you were in.

Chelsea: I don’t want that either, baby.

Adam: I guess we can– we can take a look at what you found. What do you think, mom?

[ Chelsea sighing ] (Wheezing)

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. With nurtec odt, I can treat a migraine

Billy: Well, first of all, let me just say how impressive that is. You really thought this through. You took the initiative. You did the research. It’s great.

Adam: Yeah, it was very mature.

Chelsea: My baby’s not a baby anymore. But your dad’s right. I wish you would’ve just told us how you felt, that you were in so much pain instead of running away.

Connor: I was confused and scared, I guess. I thought if I asked you to move away, you’d say no.

Adam: Well, your mom and I, we will, um, we’ll do our own research.

Chelsea: Yeah. We will have a very serious talk.

Adam: Yes, we will make the choice that works best for all of us. Deal?

Connor: Yeah.

Adam: Deal?

Connor: Deal.

Billy: Why don’t we go for a walk for a little while, all right? We’ll get some fresh air. Let your mom and dad talk for a bit.

Chelsea: That’s a nice idea. Thank you.

Connor: I guess.

Billy: Okay, come on.

Chelsea: Now, do you see how letting connor leave is the right thing to do?

[ Adam sighing ]

Chance: Okay, that’s enough about me. Let’s talk about you. How goes it, huh? How is adustus?

Sharon: Well, adustus is no more. It’s now changed to sna media.

Chance: Sharon, nick, adam.

Sharon: Exactly.

Chance: Nailed it. Well, hey, at least you convinced adam that his name sucked. That’s a big step in the right direction, right? What else, huh? How’s adam? Is he behaving?

Sharon: Uh, not exactly.

Chance: Oh, that’s no surprise. What’d he do?

Sharon: He tried blackmailing audra charles into convincing nikki and victoria that sna and newman media should merge.

Chance: Geez. You sure you want to be discussing a blackmail plot perpetrated by your partner with possibly the next chief of police? Unless you want me to arrest adam ’cause I could totally do that. I would gladly do that actually. That actually might be a plus for sna. We could make it s&n just like that. Say the word, I’m on it.

[ Sharon chuckling ]

Sharon: Stop. No, we have adam under control, so no arrest needed. Not yet anyway.

Daniel: I– I’ll take that, thank you very much.

Lily: Hi, sorry.

Daniel: Lily, what happened? Did your meeting get cancelled?

Lily: Oh, there it is. No, I left my tablet, so you know, leadership at its best.

Daniel: I didn’t even see it. You know, you could’ve called me, I would’ve brought it to you.

Lily: Oh, no, no. It’s fine. Once I realized I forgot, I just told my assistant to reschedule the meeting, so.

Daniel: Oh, my god. The meeting, my meeting. I’m gonna be late for my meeting now.

Heather: I hope I didn’t make you late.

Daniel: No, no, no. No, this is good. This is fine. I’m really glad we got a chance to do this. I feel much better about things.

Heather: Me too.

Daniel: Get to my meeting. Uh, are you heading back to the office?

Lily: Um, actually, well, my meeting was rescheduled, so I have some time. I don’t know if you’re free, but maybe if you want to have coffee and catch up?

Lily: Well, I have to say, bravo to you for keeping phyllis out of jail. I mean, how did you even do that?

Heather: Daniel didn’t tell you what happened?

Lily: Well, he didn’t give me details. He just said that, you know, phyllis plead guilty and told the judge her story and they had leniency on her.

Heather: I mean, that’s the gist, but because it involved phyllis, it was much more complex and passionate than that.

Lily: Yeah, of course. I mean, she is her own worst enemy, but I have to believe that you played a big role in having her not serve time.

Heather: Phyllis really deserves all the credit. I– I barely said anything. You know, it’s strange seeing someone like her being truly vulnerable, but she did it. She opened her heart and let it all pour out.

Lily: And the judge bought it, obviously.

Heather: It wasn’t a matter of buying it. It’s about understanding what she’d gone through, but I believe that phyllis was sincere. Her remorse felt real.

Lily: Yeah, but I mean, you’re a mom, right? I mean, didn’t you think it was awful how she hurt summer and daniel?

Heather: Oh, my god. Yes. I– I was furious. I mean, lucy had just only recently stopped worrying about her dad, then this and all the worry came right back. But I am trying to take phyllis at her word that this experience changed her because it’s good for daniel and lucy. I mean, lucy loves the woman she will never call grandma.

Lily: Yeah. Okay, well, now that the case is closed, are you heading back to portugal?

Heather: Uh, my firm closes every august and– and I just picked up a few pro bono cases in town, so, um, lucy loves hanging out with her dad and I don’t see a reason to rush back. School doesn’t start for a while.

Lily: Yeah, nice. Well, daniel was saying you’re in a relationship, so does your partner care that you’re extending your stay?

Heather: It’s not a problem. Daniel seems like he’s doing really well, don’t you think?

Lily: Yeah, I mean, you know, look. Anyone who thinks that their mother has died and then finds out she’s alive, I think, is gonna be thrown for a loop.

Heather: True.

Lily: Yeah, but, you know, he’s looking forward. And, you know, I also wanna believe that phyllis has changed, but I’m definitely more of a wait and see kind of person. I just– I don’t want him to get hurt again and end up in that dark place that he was in that you and lucy had to deal with.

Heather: Yeah, I don’t want to see him hurt again either, but like I said, a changed phyllis, a better phyllis, is good for father and daughter.

Chelsea: I mean, this place connor found, it could be exactly what he needs. It looks like a warm environment, supportive, welcoming.

Adam: Well, the facilities do look solid and I– he seems to have classmates that would understand what he’s going through.

Chelsea: Yeah. He cld live in the dorm or with anita. I know it’s hard for you to let him go, especially now, but he really wants this and I really wanna see him smile again.

Adam: Gosh. Me too. But, I mean, chelsea, what about you? I mean, can you really get away from genoa city? You just got this amazing, high-powered new job.

Chelsea: The truth is, I can do what I need to do remotely, and I’ve got a great team I can rely on here. If I have to hire someone to be my eyes and ears, I’ll do that. It’s gonna be a sacrifice for both of us, but that’s what we signed up for, right? Our son comes first.

Adam: Mm-hmm. 100%.

Connor: Do you think my mom and dad are going to let me go away?

Billy: I think you made a very strong case for yourself. You know, your mom and dad, they love you a lot.

Connor: I’m sorry, billy.

Billy: What are you sorry about?

Connor: I know you’re gonna miss my mom if we move.

Billy: Yeah. I’m gonna miss your mom. I’m gonna miss you too, but that’s what phones are for, right? And I’ll come and visit you wherever you are and even bring johnny for a little visit.

Connor: That’d be cool.

Billy: Look, I’m not your parent, connor, but I really want what’s best for you. You know that, right?

Connor: Yes.

Billy: And all of this– this stuff, it’ll all work itself out, okay?

Connor: Okay.

Billy: You’re a brave kid. It’s not easy to tell people how you feel. To share those big, sometimes scary, emotions is hard and you did that. You should be proud of yourself. You’re an amazing kid. You got a very bright future ahead of you, I promise you that.

Chelsea: Thank you.

[ Chelsea sighing ] Sharon, hey. Could I talk to you for a second?

Sharon: Sure, sure.

Chance: Yeah, go ahead. I gotta get back to work. I’ll call you.

Sharon: Okay.

Chance: Bye.

Chelsea: Um, have you heard of this place?

Sharon: Yeah, I have. They have a very good reputation. They do great work with children and teens.

Chelsea: Um, do you think it could be a good fit for connor?

Sharon: I imagine it would be. Did dr. Malone mention this to you?

Chelsea: No, um, connor found it actually.

Sharon: By himself?

Chelsea: Mm-hmm. Apparently, he doesn’t wanna go to walnut grove anymore. Or live in genoa city. He’s having some emotions that are scaring him. He– he doesn’t wanna end up like me.

Sharon: Oh, chelsea, I’m sure he didn’t say it like that.

Chelsea: Not exactly, but I do fear he could be in trouble, sharon. He’s asked adam and me if he could move in with anita and get help at this place. He– he found it online, he asked us to check it out. I…

Sharon: Wow, so connor found that all by himself. Well, that’s very mature. I would take that as a positive sign.

Chelsea: So, I mean, you think we should consider it?

Sharon: Sounds like you already are and that makes sense. How are you coping with all this?

Chelsea: I feel guilty. I feel scared. I really thought I knew my son. I thought that we had great communication and now, I– I just– I–

Sharon: Well, don’t– don’t beat yourself up. I see nothing but hope in everything you’re telling me.

Chelsea: Really?

Sharon: Yeah. Your son, who is in grade school, is self-aware enough, smart enough, to recognize that he can’t figure out his problems on his own. He brought you and adam this potential solution. That speaks to good parenting and it says that he trusts you to help him with his problems.

Chelsea: Yeah, but what if–

Sharon: No, no. No what ifs. I see your family moving in a positive direction. I’m sure of it. Where are you going?

Connor: Hey, mom.

Chelsea: Hey, guys. How was your walk?

Connor: Did you and dad talk?

Chelsea: We did. We will go check out the school you found. I’ve already made the arrangements.

Connor: Thank you!

Chelsea: Oh, you’re–

[ Chelsea laughing ] You’re welcome. And I– I spoke to your grandmother and if everything looks good at this school, she says that we’re welcome to stay with her for a while, at least until I find a place for us to live.

Connor: Thanks, mom.

Chelsea: Yeah. Why don’t you, uh, why don’t you go upstairs and we’ll talk more about this in a few minutes, okay?

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Billy: So, adam agreed?

Chelsea: Yep. We both want what’s best for connor. So, we’re gonna go check out this school. Sharon says they have a great reputation, and if it’s a good fit, I’ll make it work. I will move in with my mother, god help me, and work remotely.

Billy: Yeah, well, you gotta do what’s right for your boy.

Chelsea: The hardest part is gonna be leaving you.

Billy: We’ll be all right. We’re in a good place. We’ll talk all the time. Connor already asked me to visit as much as possible.

Chelsea: He did, did he? Well, I love that. I just hate leaving now. You have so much going on with jabot and jack and ashley.

Billy: It’s okay. I’ll be fine. Connor comes first.

Chelsea: Thank you for understanding.

Billy: I’m gonna miss the hell out of you.

Chelsea: I’m gonna miss you too.

Daniel: Hey, I just got off the phone with your mother. Yes, we are gonna make the most of these next few weeks. Yeah, of course, I’m gonna take some time off. I don’t know, whatever you wanna do. You wanna go see a ball game, we’ll go see a ball game. You wanna go to an amusement park? Tell you what. Just make a list. Okay. Okay, I’ll call you tomorrow and we can make some plans. Bye.

Sharon: Good news, huh?

Daniel: Lucy’s gonna be spending the rest of the summer here.

Sharon: Well, that’s wonderful.

Daniel: Yeah, it is pretty wonderful. Um, speaking of which, you should probably stock up on the ingredients for those mocha fudge frozen blast drinks that she likes so much.

Sharon: I’m on it. I’m on it.

[ Daniel sighing ]

Daniel: Best end of summer ever.

Lily: Well, I know that daniel’s gonna be thrilled to have lucy stick around for a while.

Heather: Lucy too. She adores her dad.

Lily: And she’s so great. She really is. She’s so strong and smart and funny and that’s definitely a credit to you.

Heather: She’s the best.

Lily: Although, watch out for the high school years because honestly, mattie and I, we were so close and then all of a sudden, we just argued over everything.

Heather: Thanks for the warning.

Lily: Yeah. But it’s funny ’cause lucy, I feel like she’s so intrigued by daniel and I in high school and how we were so young and in love.

Heather: That is quite a story. I’m, uh, really glad that you two found each other again.

Lily: Yeah. Me too. I’m glad.

Heather: Daniel seems happy.

Lily: I think he is.

[ Phone ringing ] Oh, sorry. You know what? That is my team and they’re already upset with me, so I’m gonna take this.

Heather: Of course, of course. Take it.

Lily: Lily winters.

Anna: [ Gasps ] [ Sighs ] Valentin? [ Sighs ] Hey, Valentin?

Robert: Diane?

Diane: Robert.

Robert: Judge bonds isn’t here?

Diane: Proving that his disregard for punctuality remains unchanged.

Robert: [ Sighs ] Damn it.

Diane: His clerk said he would be in soon.

Robert: Define “soon.”

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Robert: So, how was the car show?

Anna: What was so urgent that your lawyer came over in the middle of the night? Oh, perfect.

Olivia: Hey. What are you doing?

Ned: I’m eating your lasagna from last night.

Olivia: No, no, what are you doing eating it cold? You’re going to get a stomach ache.

Ned: No, no, no, no, no. I like it like this — vintage.

Olivia: Vintage? Lasagna?

Ned: Well, not vintage. More like rock ‘n’ roll, you know? Late nights, music till dawn, cold lasagna.

Olivia: Right, right. Up all night, bar crawling, too wasted to put it in the oven.

Ned: Exactly.

Olivia: Okay, well, except for that, you got a working oven and someone that’s perfectly happy to heat it up for you, okay?

Ned: No. No, no, no. I’m not going to let you do that. You’re too busy. Besides, I really like it like this. And I’m used to it, eating on the go — cold and quick.

Olivia: Okay, okay. It’s not going to happen on my watch. You’re not eating cold lasagna for breakfast. Just let me make you a frittata.

Ned: No, no. Okay, I’ll make you a deal. How about warm lasagna?

Josslyn: Hello.

Carly: Hey. You’re up early.

Josslyn: I am going to the pool. Unless you need help at Kelly’s. I can totally cancel.

Carly: No, I told you, Pete’s opening up. Go have fun.

Josslyn: I’m not going to have fun.

Carly: Sounds like you want to cancel.

Josslyn: Well, I am going to be binging “Gray’s Anatomy” all day, not the show, but the book. I wish it was the show.

Carly: Oh, your semester’s starting soon, huh?

Josslyn: Yes. So soon. Too soon. Summer flew by. I have a mountain of things that I should have done over break.

Carly: You say that every year, and then you ace all your tests and tell me how interesting your classes are.

Josslyn: I know, I know, and they’re interesting. It’s just so much to remember. And then life happens, and I get distracted.

Carly: Life’s always happening.

Josslyn: I know. I have to stop delaying. I’m trying to remember that “tough times don’t last, but tough people do.”

Carly: That’s right. Mom’s Aunt Ruby. That’s what she used to say.

Josslyn: Mm-hmm. Okay, well, if you need me, call me, text me. I will be in mental boot camp.

Carly: Keep your phone on.

Josslyn: Okay.

Carly: [ Sighs ] Alright.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Carly: Hello.

Woman: Collect call from Pentonville Penitentiary. Will you accept the charges?

Carly: Absolutely.

[ Beep ]

[ Lock beeps ]

Anna: Hi. [ Sighs ]

Betty: Mason, I already got you the goods. Why do I have to keep up this nanny act? Yeah, yeah. Okay. But it’ll cost ya. Hey, listen, Taffy, um, I am just arriving at work, but you should definitely see the dry cleaners. We’ll talk later.

Gabe: Morning.

Betty: Angora. It’s her own fault, really. You should never dry-clean angora.

Gabe: You’re telling me.

Sonny: [ Chuckles ] Thanks, Brick. Just stay in touch, will ya? Yeah.

[ Knock on door ]

Sonny: Got to go. Bye.

Betty: Good morning, Mr. Corinthos.

Sonny: Hi, Betty. Come on in. I don’t want to be disturbed.

Gabe: Copy that.

Betty: Is Avery ready to go?

Sonny: You’re not getting anywhere near Avery.

Drew: Carly?

Carly: Yes, Drew, it’s me. You’re out of solitary?

Drew: Yeah.

Carly: Thank god.

Drew: I was starting to go crazy in there.

Carly: Sam told me she brought Scout to see you.

Drew: I know. I know. I heard.

Carly: I can’t believe they turned Scout away.

Drew: I’m so sorry that I couldn’t let anybody know.

Carly: That’s okay. That’s okay. Don’t worry about me. I’m just so glad you got out sooner.

Drew: Sooner? How did you know how long it was supposed to be? Carly, what did you do?

Betty: What’s wrong? Why don’t you want me near Avery?

Sonny: Isn’t it obvious? Avery’s sick. I’d hate for you to catch it.

[ Both chuckle ]

Betty: Oh, Mr. Corinthos, that’s, um, so considerate of you. Aw, I was really looking forward to seeing her today. I hope she feels better, the poor little cupcake. Well, just text me when you need me again.

Sonny: Betty. Here’s a little something, even, uh… a little extra for you.

Betty: Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much.

Sonny: Hey. Goodbye, Betty.

Betty: Bye.

Sonny: Dex. You know what to do.

[ Door closes ]

Ned: This is actually a pretty nice spread you have here.

Olivia: Yeah, that’s putting it mildly.

Ned: You know, the kid is always going on about horses and bugs. He was telling me about some spotted lanternfly that’s invading New York.

Olivia: Yes, I hear about it every day. Leo is on the patrol.

Ned: [ Chuckles ] He’s a good kid. He wants me to teach him how to play the banjo.

Olivia: You play the banjo?

Ned: Not in the slightest.

Olivia: [ Chuckles ]

Ned: You know what? This is good.

Olivia: Yeah?

Ned: I have to admit, lasagna is definitely better warmed up.

Olivia: Want the extra parmesan?

Ned: No. No, no, no, no, no. I hate that. It’s like putting a sax solo on a punk-rock song. It just doesn’t fit.

Olivia: It’s weird. Ned always loved it.

Ned: I’m not Ned.

Olivia: I know. Sorry.

Ned: Forget it.

Olivia: So, late night, huh?

Ned: Busted.

Olivia: Must’ve been quite a party. [ Chuckles ] Guess I wasn’t aware that Port Charles had such a vibrant after-hours scene.

Ned: No, it was up to me to create my own party scene.

Olivia: Did you meet any, uh, interesting party animals?

Diane: Well, thank you for asking, Robert. The car show was wonderful. Just row upon row of the most exquisite new vehicles. I felt like I’d stepped into the future.

Robert: [ Chuckles ] Hm. So, uh… what was your favorite?

Diane: Oh, how can you even ask me that with so many — so many amazing models to choose from? All the chrome was buffed to a near-mirror-like perfection. All the new leather interiors and the reliable engines. There were some electric vehicles, gorgeous colors. All in all, a wonderful time was had.

Robert: Alexis enjoy it?

Diane: Alexis?

Robert: Yeah, you took her.

Diane: I remember. Oh, right. No, no, no. Right, right. Well, after you expressed little — well, no interest, I did ask Alexis, yes, and she could not go, so I took Chris.

Robert: Chris?

Diane: Mm-hmm. Chris Simmons.

Robert: Uh, did — did he — she e-enjoy the car show?

Diane: Very much so. Almost as much as me.

Robert: Where the hell’s that judge?

Anna: I was going to text you, but I-I can’t find my phone.

Valentin: Wouldn’t be this phone, would it?

Anna: Oh, yeah. Yeah, that’s — [ chuckles ] I — sorry, when I woke up, I was really disoriented. I didn’t know where I was. And you weren’t here. Um, where did you go?

Valentin: I was at ELQ. I, uh… I noticed they’re still not up and running thanks to the water damage for the servers.

Anna: How is that?

Valentin: I’m sure it’ll be fixed soon. Ned Quartermaine’s not really acting like himself these days, so I have to stop by and keep the ship afloat.

Anna: Right, right. I feel very sorry for Olivia, everyone over there, because it’s — it’s so unsettling when someone you know is acting strangely.

Valentin: I’m sure it is. I haven’t had a lot of time to talk to the Quartermaines.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Anna: Oh, is that ELQ?

Valentin: Yeah. But don’t worry. I’ll let it go to voicemail. What can I do for you?

Anna: Well, you can help me find out who is literally trying to destroy my life… and why.

Anna: Someone out there is trying to kill me or at least destabilize me so much that I take my eye off the ball.

Valentin: Well, listen, I would like nothing more than to smoke them out and…

Anna: What?

Valentin: ….Strangle a confession from them.

Anna: Wow. Really? Smoke them out?

Valentin: That was a poor choice of words. My point is, I don’t think that it’s the appropriate course of action.

Anna: Y-you’re not?

Valentin: You and I both know that we’re dealing with a professional. This was a professional job.

Anna: Okay, so we just drop it? We just ignore the fact that there was a public shooting and that my life went up in flames?

Valentin: No. Of course not. We’re dealing with people who can cover their tracks.

Anna: Mm. And we have experience in that department, too.

Valentin: I will continue to make inquiries of my sources, but we need to prepare ourselves that there are not going to be any easy answers.

Anna: I have to have a shower. I got to go to my lawyer and then insurance company. Got to put what’s left of my life back together, you know?

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Robert: The judge is taking his sweet time.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Robert: Yeah, Scorpio. What? When? No, of course I know nothing about it. What? Well, no, I’m in the judge’s office, waiting for him to get back. Yeah. I’m on my way.

Diane: Is there a fire that needs putting out in the D.A.’s office?

Robert: Fire’s been put out. Destroyed a life, though.

Carly: I didn’t do anything.

Drew: Meaning?

Carly: Sonny did. I didn’t ask him to, but I’m so glad he did.

Drew: Well, he, uh — he did say that he was going to do whatever he could for me while I was inside.

Carly: Are you okay?

Drew: Carly, I’m fine. The other guy? Not so much.

Carly: What? Why? What happened?

Drew: Nothing I can’t handle. Don’t worry.

Carly: Does this have anything to do with you being put in solitary confinement?

Drew: [ Sighs ] I got into it with a guy who was giving another inmate a hard time. I couldn’t just stand by and watch it happen. Okay?

Carly: [ Sighs ] You don’t have to protect everyone, Drew. Who was this inmate that you helped?

Drew: Cyrus Renault.

Betty: [ Sighs ]

Pool attendant: Would you like something from the brunch menu?

Betty: I’ll have the American breakfast with extra bacon. And I mean extra bacon. Rye toast.

Pool attendant: Alright.

Betty: Hey, I’m not done. Bring me a Bloody Mary, but forget the horseradish. Got it?

Pool attendant: Yes.

Josslyn: Drinking on the job? Or were you fired already?

Betty: Your sister’s sick, so back off.

Josslyn: Oh, it looks like I touched a nerve. Instead of Mary Poppins, I’m going to call you Bloody Mary. Hey, what are you doing here? I thought you were wor–

Sonny: Ava, can I just talk? Avery’s with me. She’s not going to be with Betty today. She is fine. Now, listen to me, okay? We already set the trap. We just have to spring it, and then we’re going to get the answers we need.

Ned: No party animals. Uh, unless you count Tracy.

Olivia: Tracy?

Ned: Yeah, she was here, doing a preemptive hangover strike with water and ibuprofen.

Olivia: Oh.

Ned: Definitely had a few too many. No, the real party was me and the old six-string in the solarium. Great acoustics in there.

Olivia: Acoustics? So what exactly were you and your six-string doing up in the solarium, hmm?

Ned: I was writing a song.

Olivia: So you do write your own songs?

Ned: Oh, yeah, yeah. You got to write your own material if you really want to stand out.

Olivia: Music’s a tough business.

Ned: Yes, it is. But I have help.

Olivia: Ah?

Ned: You might say a muse.

Olivia: A muse. So what is this — this, uh, muse? A magical spirit that whispers sweet lyrics into your ear or something?

Ned: [ Chuckles ] Sort of. Although, my muse is a little more earthly. Ever hear of Elvis Presley?

Olivia: “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” Elvis Pre– yes, yes, I’ve heard of him. That’s your muse?

Ned: The one and only.

[ Both laugh ]

Ned: Well, let’s just say he inspires me.

Olivia: Okay.

Ned: And music… music, it’s the fire in my belly. It’s the spark in my soul.

Olivia: It really is everything to you, isn’t it?

Ned: Yeah. Makes me who I am.

Olivia: So, you and your guitar in the solarium with the ghost of Elvis.

Ned: Just us and the spirits.

Olivia: [ Chuckles ] That sounds like a hell of an audience.

Ned: I can think of better. So what do you say? Do you want to hear what I’ve written so far?

Olivia: You mean…

Ned: Do you want to hear my song?

Olivia: I would love to.

Ned: Alright. Just give me a sec. I’ll go get my guitar.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Diane: Robert, I can’t even imagine what Anna’s going through.

Robert: She’s been through so much. First, the exposé with The Bureau and now this.

Diane: Do they have any idea what caused it?

Robert: Arson. Look, I’ve got to go see her. When Bonds gets here, tell him I’ll send my A.D.A. over to handle it all.

Anna: Valentin, do you have any scissors? Please… [ Sighs ] [ Sighs ]

Valentin: I assume this is important if you’re willing to risk meeting in your home.

Sonny: Yes, it is important. That message you had Anna deliver — what was that about?

Carly: Cyrus Renault? Why would you help him?

Drew: Carly, I-I did what I had to do. Let’s not get into this now, okay? I — I only have a little bit of time left on this call. I don’t want to waste it on him. I’m way more interested in you. You okay?

Carly: I miss you. But I’m fine.

Drew: You don’t sound fine.

Carly: I’m just so glad you’re out of solitary confinement.

Drew: Hey, um, Carly, my, uh — my time’s up.

Carly: [ Sighs ] Okay. I love you.

Drew: I love you, too. Hey, if you can, come and see me today, okay? I really miss you.

Carly: I’ll be there. I promise.

Drew: Okay, bye.

Carly: Bye.

Betty: [ Scoffs ] Get a room.

Dex: Sorry I’m late.

Josslyn: It’s fine. Um, I was just stu–

Dex: Waiting on me, like usual. Sorry. Traffic was a nightmare.

Josslyn: Um, okay, well, now that you’re here, you can help me learn about muscles for my anatomy course.

Dex: Gladly.

Drew: Come on, man. Come on. Don’t do this, Cyrus. Fight!

Cyrus: Drew Cain. We meet again.

Olivia: That sounds exhausting, and I hope that you are taking care of yourself.

Monica: Oh, don’t worry about me. It’s a lot less stressful than dealing with Tracy. Is she behaving?

Olivia: Barely. And I wish you were here to referee.

Monica: You don’t need me for that. You’ve got Brook Lynn, and she’s the best Tracy wrangler, by far. Hey, listen, I’m really calling because I wanted to check in on you and see how things were with Ned.

Olivia: You mean Eddie?

Ned: Ready to serenade you.

Monica: Still? I know I’ve only been gone a week, but I really hoped for some progress. None?

Olivia: Nope.

Monica: I’m sorry. How is it going? Are you okay?

Olivia: I’m okay. Actually… things are going alright.

[ Anna sighs ]

Anna: [ Sighs ]

[ Knock on door ]

Robert: Anna, are you there?

Anna: Oh!

Robert: I’m sorry I didn’t get here any sooner. I heard about the fire. Is it arson?

Anna: [ Sniffles ] It’s all gone.

Robert: The house is completely destroyed?

Anna: Mm. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it doesn’t matter. It’s just a house and clothes and furniture. [ Sniffles ] It’s, like, memories and things that I really wanted to hold on to forever, from Robin and Emma and, like, photographs and [sighs] This little thing that Noah had made me out of driftwood. It was just so beautiful, and now it’s gone. Oh, God, it’s all just gone.

Valentin: Sonny, I have an acquaintance who used to work at Pikeman who gave me the heads up that there may be some personnel changes coming. I thought that was information I should pass along to you.

Sonny: Heads-up? What does that mean? Is there trouble in the Pikeman organization?

Valentin: No.

Sonny: No? Are you sure about that? Huh?

Valentin: Maybe.

Sonny: What are you not telling me?

Valentin: Listen, trouble or no, it doesn’t change the fact that there are elements in the Pikeman organization that are frustrated with your lack of cooperation.

Sonny: My lack of cooperation? You know what? You can tell your friend to tell Pikeman to take their frustration and shove it. I told them months ago that I’m not going to lift a finger until they give me answers on the warehouse shooting.

Valentin: Maybe they don’t have answers. This is a big deal. I don’t think they’re going to tank it by withholding information.

Sonny: Well, you seem to have a lot of insight into Pikeman. Are you — are you working for them?

Valentin: No.

Sonny: Maybe I should just call this off.

Valentin: Sonny, you can’t do that.

Sonny: Watch me.

Carly: Hey. How bad is it?

Diane: Why do you assume I only bring bad news?

Carly: ‘Cause you’re a lawyer.

Cyrus: They let you out.

Drew: They did.

Cyrus: I’m sorry. Solitary can be, for most, unbearable, but you seem to have survived unscathed.

Drew: Do I?

Cyrus: My experiences there have brought me closer to God.

Drew: Really? Mine brought me closer to insanity.

Cyrus: But now you’re out.

Drew: And you’re alive. And you look well.

Cyrus: You know, the heart attack was just a divine reminder that we have far less control over our lives than we think.

Drew: Certainly true in this place.

Cyrus: Oh, that’s true everywhere. But a warrior like you, Drew, seldom accepts such a notion. You live in the realm of strategy and calculated risks in order to navigate the chaos of war.

Drew: The war is over, Cyrus. You lost.

Cyrus: [ Chuckles ] The war is never over, Mr. Cain. I will never forget what you did for me. I owe you my life.

Betty:  The eggs were cold. Oh, and bring me another Bloody Mary.

Pool attendant: Right away.

Josslyn: Another drink, and it’s not even lunch. Maybe it’s a good thing Avery’s sick — if she even is sick.

Dex: You know, all these diagrams make me even more appreciative of the human body. I mean, what a work of art.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Betty:  Damned Mason. Yeah?

Dex: Hey, would you mind switching seats? Um, I could really use some sun.

Betty:  Okay, okay, okay. I got it. I got it. I understand.

Monica: Goodbye, Olivia. I love you. Take care.

Olivia: I love you, too, Monica. Take care.

[ Beep ]

Olivia: Oh, I’m worried about her. She’s pushing herself too hard, doing all these trips for the hospital. I just wish she’d stop trying to save the day for once.

Ned: Sounds like you.

Olivia: Me? What do you mean?

Ned: I watch you. You do everything for everybody. You work at The Metro Court. You’re dealing with Leo. You’re dodging Tracy and Brook Lynn when they’re fighting. And, off course, you’re, uh, you know, dealing with me.

Olivia: You’re all worth it. So, about that song?

Robert: Do you suppose whoever started the fire knew that you were out?

Anna: I don’t know. I mean, I can’t really speculate on their motives at all. I have to concentrate on getting my life back together. You know, I was on my way to the lawyer.

Robert: And insurance.

Anna: Mm.

Robert: Would it help if I came with you?

Anna: Maybe. You know… all the policy numbers are up in the cloud, wherever that is, and so I’m just going to let them handle it, and I do have something far more important that I have to do.

Robert: What can I do to help?

Anna: I have to talk to Robin, you know? Would you stay with me while I — while I tell her what happened?

Robert: Yeah.

Josslyn: Bye, Betty. Okay, so what the hell’s going on?

Dex: No time. Best to just trust me, okay?

Josslyn: Dex.

Dex: I love you. I’ll call you.

Carly: Are you sure nothing’s wrong?

Diane: Carly, I will have you know, not every visit from your lawyer spells disaster.

Carly: What are you talking about? It’s in your job description. You’re the carrier of bad news. Sometimes it’s good news, but most of the time it’s bad news.

Diane: Touché.

Carly: And you don’t usually visit me unless there’s a crisis.

Diane: Well, that is one of life’s great shames.

Carly: Well, I’ll rephrase that. Unless there’s a crisis with me.

Diane: Am I that transparent?

Carly: You wouldn’t win a game of legal poker right now.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] No, I’m sorry. I should not be bothering you with this. You’ve got —

Carly: Stop, stop. You’re my lawyer, but you’re also my friend, so whatever’s going on, I can use a distraction. So spit it out.

Diane: Okay. You’re going to charge me for this, aren’t you?

Carly: Oh, yeah.

Sonny: Why is it so important to you that I keep this deal?

Valentin: It’s not important to me, but it’s obviously important to Pikeman, and it was important to you at one time.

Sonny: Times change.

Valentin: Okay, but what hasn’t changed is the nature of the people we are dealing with. Pikeman is a ruthless organization that has infiltrated multiple institutions and governments. I’m looking out for you here.

Sonny: Well, thank you. I appreciate that. But next time you want to look out for me or give me a heads-up, deliver it yourself.

Valentin: Sonny, don’t provoke these people, please.

Sonny: You don’t have to worry about me, Valentin. I can take care of myself. I’m a big boy. Unless you know something that I should be aware of.

Valentin: No.

Sonny: Didn’t think so. Go ahead. Go ahead and go.

Ned: It’s only a work in progress.

Olivia: I’m not judging you, Eddie. And, plus, if you can make any sense of what’s written there, I will be very impressed.

Ned: I got lost in a storm on a boat with no oar on a sea where I never had been found my way to the shore not the same as before now I’m here in the in-between and when the clouds broke alive, I awoke to a misty world, like a dream but I’m fighting the smoke I could swear that she spoke who’s that spirit guiding me? The siren waits for me I think I hear her calling she whispers so silently the siren I can’t see she’s like a shadow following me or a distant memory

Olivia: Wait, wait, why did you stop?

Ned: That’s all I have.

Olivia: So — so you never find out who she is? You never see the siren?

Ned: Well, I don’t know. I haven’t figured out how to finish it. I’m not even sure if I can.

Olivia: I think you can, Eddie. I think — I think that you will finish this when the time is exactly right. Keep working on it. Please. It’s beautiful. And thank you for sharing that with me.

Diane: So, of course, after Robert blew me off for Holly, I tried to be friends.

Carly: Just friends?

Diane: Yes, just friends. Because I wanted to maintain an air of civility, to sort of take the high road. But then Robert starts acting all knight in shining armor. He’s very chivalrous, very solicitous, gallant.

Carly: It’s nice to have someone in your corner.

Diane: Is it? I mean, Carly, it’s been so many years since Max and I were together, I have forgotten how all of this works.

Carly: [ Chuckling ] Come on. Diane, it’s like riding a bike. You just jump back on.

[ Both chuckle ]

Diane: Okay, well, I’m afraid I’m going to jump back on the bike, and then Robert’s going to put on the hand brake and send me flying into a ditch.

Carly: Oh. Well, there is that.

Diane: Oh, I see you’ve been there.

Carly: Oh, yeah. I got a whole bunch of T-shirts. You want one?

[ Both laugh ]

Diane: No, I’m trying not to give it too much weight.

Carly: [ Sighs ] Gosh. Men are complicated. But so are women. But you know what it boils down to? If Robert can’t see the amazing, accomplished, incredible woman standing right in front of him, to hell with him.

Diane: It’s not really the answer I was looking for.

Dex: Yeah, she’s in the nail salon. Hasn’t met with anyone all day, but she did get a phone call she didn’t seem too happy about.

Sonny: Forget about her. She’s just going to lead us in circles. We’ll have Gabe tail her. That way — just as a precaution. I want you to follow someone else, someone we have to pay close attention to.

Valentin: Okay, I tried to tell you rushing things was a mistake. Now we’re going to pay for it.

Anna: Bye, darling. I love you so much. Bye, Robin.

Robert: Bye, sweetheart.

Anna: [ Sighs ]

Robert: She’s worried.

Anna: Oh, god. Don’t make this worse.

Robert: [ Chuckles ] Come on. This is our daughter. She sees right through us. She knows when we’re in danger. And, oh, by the way, we’re in danger quite a lot. But she accepts that. She’s as strong as you are.

Anna: I don’t know how far this goes, Robert.

Robert: Well, what do you want to do next?

Anna: I’m not going to go out to see her. I’m not taking whatever danger I’m in out to her. No, that’s not going to happen.

Robert: [ Sighs ]

Anna: I-I have to figure out who is after me… …and then piece together what’s left of my life. Which includes figuring out who I can and cannot trust.

Drew: You owe me nothing.

Cyrus: Oh, but I do. I owe you everything, my friend.

Drew: We are not friends.

Cyrus: [ Chuckles ] As God as my witness, I will find a way to repay you. For everything.

On the next “General Hospital” —

Finn (to Alexis): I’m guessing you heard my share.

Alexis: Loud and clear.

Gregory (to TJ): I know I’ll be needing all the help I can get.

Willow: I’m here to see if there’s any way I can help you.

Anna (to Dante): I won’t allow you to take away the one thing I have left.

Ava (to Austin): How exactly is everything under control?

Carly (to Drew): Why couldn’t you just walk away?

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Oh, wow. You’re not the last person I expected to see knocking at my door. Is Eric here? No, he’s out. I came to talk to you alone.

Why? What’s going on? I recently told you that you owe me a favor. I like to think of it more like extortion, you know. I do whatever it is you say I need to do, or you tell Eric that he’s the father of Nicole’s family. I don’t care what you call it, but your first payment is due today.

Wow, you have an odd look on your face. What happened? It’s

um, it’s Victor. Nicole, he’s dead.

Sean? You alone? I was until you showed up. Um… Hey, uh, I heard about Victor. I’m real sorry. Uh, by the looks of it, you heard too. What was your first clue, hmm?

Wow, so you’re really considering accepting Xander’s proposal? Yeah, I told him I needed some time to think about it, but so far I haven’t really found any reason to say no.

How long have you been standing there? Just long enough.

Oh, Maggie, are you in here?

Sarah. Gosh,

you’re

pregnant! Extends through the hourglass. So are the days of our lives.

Hello, Xander. Hello, Xander, that That’s it, look at you, you’re Yeah, I know. I’m just pregnant. Like, really pregnant. How am I just finding out about this? Well, I, I just got here. I had to be with my mom. Right, Sarah, but there are these things called telephones. Or, if that was too personal, you could have dropped me an email.

Having your baby. All the best, Sarah. You know. Will you just keep it down a little bit? Mom’s trying to rest. She’s really not doing okay. It’s alright. You know, I know how much Maggie loved Hector. Hey. I know that you did too. I’m really sorry for your loss. Okay, I’ll keep it in my voice now. But are you kidding me right now?

Offering me… Condolences? Why don’t you try to explain why you didn’t tell me that you’re going to have my baby?

You don’t used to spy on people. Chloe, I’m not, I wasn’t spying on you, okay? You need time to consider, consider Xander’s proposal. You’re going to consider marrying a kidnapping Neanderthal. A Neanderthal that left you with a drug lord to die. Okay, I’m going to leave you two to talk. No, no, don’t. This is not going to take long.

This is none of your business. Be honest with me. Is he, is he drugging you or something? Is that why you can’t remember how he treats women? Oh, Brady, come on. Don’t. Not just women, not just women. I mean, that’s how he treats everyone. He’s inherently violent. You know, I went to go talk to him as an adult to apologize for, for, for kissing you.

He didn’t know that. Yeah, and his immediate response was to hit me. He hit me, all right? That’s who he is and that’s how he rolls, hello? My God, you two. Victor is dead. And all you can find to do is fight about me?

Where’s Belle? Does she know? What, that I’m here drinking? I don’t know. I mean, why don’t you go find her and tell her? No. Does she know what happened to Victor? Hey, what do you think? I mean, doesn’t everybody know by now? Well, and… Why isn’t she here with you? It doesn’t, it doesn’t matter. I mean, he’s dead, he’s dead one way or the other.

Just an observation. You don’t seem to be taking this very well. Well, that’s an astute observation. And no, I’m not taking this well, and I’m… You know what, as a matter of fact, I’m taking this very badly because this is my fault. Victor died in the plane crash. How can this possibly be your fault? Look, he was on that plane because I put my dad, my dad, his son, in a coma.

And then he had to spend the last four months of his life miserable because of me, and now… Look, and now he’s dead because of me. That doesn’t even make sense. Hey, who the hell asked you, huh? I’m sorry, I I I shouldn’t have blurted it out like that, I… I was pretty shocked myself. It’s okay, I… I had to know, I I had to find out.

What happened? Well, he was flying back from Greece and his, his plane went down. Oh my God, that’s horrible. Yeah. And

I can’t believe this is hitting me so hard. Well, it’s shocking. And you would hope at his age, he could have died peacefully. And you were also married to him. I’m sure that there were some good memories from that time. No, actually there weren’t. We weren’t exactly a love match.

For God’s sake, Victor. The fashion show is for charity. It would make you look good if I did it. I will not have you burying your assets in public. Why don’t you just go all the way and have me branded? Exclusive property of Victor Kiriakis. Don’t think I haven’t considered it. Bastard. Murderer. You live to make me miserable.

It’s what you richly deserve. I can’t believe the things you said to me still sting after all these years. Ugh. I wonder if those two have caught up in the great beyond yet. Who needs a devil when you can torment each other for the rest of eternity? God, they’d love to hate each other. Mm hmm.

Maybe you haven’t heard, but Abe Carver is going to resume his duties as mayor. Abe got his memory back? No, it’s a scam. He’s going to be mayor just long enough to appoint his successor, Paulina. What? And how the hell does that woman qualify? I have no idea, but it is definitely happening, and it puts me in an awkward position.

I went after Paulina and Chanel pretty hard over what happened to your parents. And now you think she’s going to fire you? Yeah, wouldn’t you? I mean, that woman HATES me, and she would love for the chance to show me how much. You know what I mean, payback’s a bitch. You’re damn right. So how are you gonna fend her off?

With a headline grabbing case and a high profile defendant. Sounds like a plan. I already have both, actually. The attempt on Stefan DiMera’s life and the man behind it. Lee Shin. Well, that sounds surefire if you had any proof. But, didn’t you already come up short handed trying to do that? Yeah, I tried. And I failed miserably.

As you already know. But if no proof is the one thing standing in my way, then… I’m not too worried about that. Or no? No. Because that’s where you come in.

Sean, uh, how about we get some air? Uh, this feels just like air to me. Dammit Sean, this is a public place, and you were suspended for drinking. Okay, but didn’t you hear? Didn’t you hear that, uh, when I came back from my suspension, I got promoted, so, now, I am the police commissioner, and, I’m thinking that, hey, maybe if I keep this up, they’re gonna make me mayor.

If you keep this up, you could lose Bell. Oh, don’t you, don’t you have a baby on the way or something? I mean, here, actually. I have a suggestion. How about you go to your soon to be baby mama, and you go see if she has any Any cravings and get the hell out of here, okay?

Can I get you anything? Any… Any cravings? Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Name it. Three dry martinis. I know I can’t, so you are going to have to drink enough for both of us. I’ll do what I can.

He, oh, Victor was such a son of a bitch. No argument there. He treated me like dirt. No, in fact, worse. He treated me like… Well, like, I deserved. But, um, I’m gonna miss him. I can’t think about Salem without him. I know. He was so damned… Alive. And funny.

You know, I was infuriated because he would say something awful to me, and then I had to steal myself not to laugh. And I’m sure you never said anything scathing back to him. Oh, I tried. But I just, I was no match for him.

And I’m sure you’re really enjoying me talking about my ex husband. I don’t mind. In fact, I don’t mind you going on and on about anything. Yeah? You sure about that? Nicole, you are a femme formidable. You don’t bring much tranquility, domestic tranquility, to the table, but I’m never bored. Ever even close.

Let’s get married. What? Let’s get married. Uh, we’re not getting married. Now. Now? Why? I don’t know. Well, because we haven’t planned anything yet. We don’t even know where we’re getting married. None, none of that matters. What matters is that we get married as soon as possible and live every day as if it was our last.

Let’s take everything we’ve learned from our collective disastrous marriages and apply the odds. Make it work. For starters… I’ll stop being an imperious jerk. And you… Yes? You stay exactly the same.

Nicole,

we could have the time of our lives.

I’m not a detective, Melinda. How am I supposed to dig up evidence on Shin whenever you and your whole office couldn’t? I don’t need you to be a detective. I need your talents as a lawyer. Lee’s lawyer, specifically. Look, now I really don’t understand you. If I take on… Shin, I’m gonna do everything in my power to get him acquitted, I don’t understand how that helps you.

You’re right. It won’t. Come on, Peterson. Think it through. Oh

my god. You want me to help you to convict my own client?

There was no fight. I mean, it was over before it began. We… Put that all aside when we started talking about granddad. We actually hugged, which I’m sure my grandfather got a good laugh about.

How’s, how’s, um, how’s Sean taking it? Uh, he’s taking it pretty badly. He’s just blaming himself. He’s getting really good at blaming himself these days. I wish he would have been with you and Xander. Maybe you could have made him see how wrong he is.

Sarah, I know we’re divorced, but… That’s still my kid. You had no right to keep this from me. Santa… If Victor hadn’t died… If you didn’t have to be with your mother right now… Were you ever going to tell me? How long was I going to have to wait? Like a year? More? Forever? I’m going to be a father and you weren’t even going to tell me?

You’re not going to be a father.

I, I didn’t tell you because it’s none of your business.

The baby isn’t yours. It’s Rex’s.

Rex? Rex got you pregnant? He does have all the working parts. That’s not what I meant. Lucky you. Looked like you were ready to deliver. Certainly far enough along that you must have gotten pregnant before you left Salem. Meaning… Meaning what? Rex and I didn’t get involved until I got to Chicago, but… Yeah, there was once here in Salem before I moved.

Sometimes once is all it takes. Please, yeah, Maggie told me that you’d gotten rid of that jerk, but… It’s a bit convenient, isn’t it? Once, with Rex, versus, what, how many times when we were together? You know, I don’t really recall. I’ve been trying to forget. The odds are overwhelming that I’m the father. How can you be so sure that I’m not?

Is everything okay? Uh, yeah, it’s just something I need to take care of. Um, listen. Stop badgering her about Xander, okay? It’s completely non productive on a million different levels. Right. Promise. Promise. Okay. And you keep me posted. I will. Alright. Bye.

That look in your eyes says you’re not going to keep your promise. How can I? Alright, alright, look, um, part of promise. Part of my reaction is jealousy, okay? How can I not be at this point? I’m not… I’m jealous if you go out with a guy on a Friday night, let alone a guy you’re living with, let alone a guy you’re thinking about marrying, okay?

But we’re not just talking about a guy, we’re talking about Xander Cook Kiriakis. I know who he is, I know that he’s dangerous, and he’s got the moral code of a KGB agent. And by the way, to top it all off… He did not propose to you because he’s in love with you. He proposed to you… because he can’t have Sarah.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

Ugh. I thought you were gonna be going. I’m not leaving without you.

Come on. Let me drive you home. We’ll pick it up from there. Are you ever going to get the message? I said, leave me the hell alone.

So my office officially informs Lee that he is the subject of an investigation. He’ll need a lawyer. That’s where you come in. You’ve represented him before, so you already have a relationship. Get him to hire you, and then it’s just a matter of passing along what you learn from him so I can use it against him.

Do you mean it’s a question of me losing my license and giving birth in prison? Don’t be so melodramatic. We’re talking about a felony here, and you’re the D. A.! They’ll throw the book at me, God, they’ll throw the entire law library at you one volume at a time! I have no choice! My back is against the wall!

If I pull When I pull this off I’ll be all over the papers. Paulina won’t be able to touch me, and if she even tries, it’ll be seen as an abuse of power. You can’t be serious. If I don’t employ this very strategic strategy, then I’ll be out on the street. Everything that I built will be gone. I need this, Sloan.

My job is my life. Yeah, there’s gotta be another way. I’m sorry. I’m all ears. What other way? I don’t know, but I can’t do this.

Okay. So I guess you’re okay with Eric finding out that Nicole is pregnant with his baby.

You want to elope. Tonight. Think about it. What are Salem weddings like? The Hindenburg. And when we get married, we want to be surrounded by people we love and trust, and who are happy that we are together. And there are only two people in this world who check all those boxes. You, and me. So we trust each other, huh?

Come on, Nicole. It could be fun. You remember fun, don’t you?

Let me start being the husband you deserve. Tonight.

You’d do that? You would tell Eric the truth because I won’t break ten laws to help you? I would be the one investigating you. No one’s going to find out anything. I thought we were friends. I know your back’s against the wall, but this is too much. You can’t ask me to do something like this. Ask me anything else.

But this is all I need. I won’t do it.

You’re gonna call my bluff? You think I won’t tell Eric? I hope you won’t. But even if you do, it’s not gonna go your way. Because Eric and I are growing closer every day. How sweet. But it’s more than that. Nicole’s not the only one carrying Eric’s baby. He might be upset, yes. But he won’t leave me. We’re gonna work through it.

You want that to be true? Are you really ready to risk finding out for sure?

Come on Sean, we gotta get you out of here! Eric, stop! No! Yes! I guess I’ll get

going. Look, Eric, I asked you to stop. Yeah, yeah, you’re right, you did. By the way, I, I still owe you.

Are you okay? Why does everybody keep asking me that? And what the hell are you doing here? Oh, oh, Eric, Eric, Eric called you. You know, come get your drunk husband, right? Nosey son of a bitch. He called me because he cares. Because that’s the kind of person he is. Because if something’s wrong, he’s going to try to make it right.

So, you want to elope. Now. That’s what I’ve been saying. I pick up that phone and the Demira jet is warming up on the tarmac, ready to take us to… Where? Rome. Florence. So you want to fly to Italy tonight? Yes. Okay. Bring Holly. She’ll love it. Sydney is there. We’ll ask them both to be flower girls. Well, then that would involve Sammy.

Don’t tell me you wouldn’t enjoy rubbing Sammy’s nose in it. Think of… Think of how beautiful we could make this. We’ll get married in a Tuscan village where we don’t know anybody and nobody knows us. No distractions, no interruptions. It will be as if Salem doesn’t exist.

Now don’t tell me you’re not just a little bit…

Tempted.

Call the damn plane.

What?! Look, Victor is dead and my mom is an absolute wreck. So you will have to excuse me if I don’t feel up to standing here and being grilled about something that has nothing to do with you. Please just tell me this. How can you be so sure? Because math. Weeks went by between the last time you and I had sex and Rex and I sleeping together.

Why do you think we got together in Chicago? Why are we together now? We, we found out about the baby and we decided it was fate. Why do you even care? Are you kidding? No! You’re with Chloe now. And my mom and Bonnie said that it’s pretty serious, so. Well yeah, you could say that. I just asked her to marry me.

So, you’re okay with being Xander’s second choice? No, what I’m saying is that Xander’s past with Sarah is a part of who he is. Just like my past with you is a part of who I am. And my past with Phillip, for that matter. And I’m not with you because of that whole mess with Rachel. And I’m not with Phillip because…

Well, he’s gone. And Xander fell in love with the me that went through all of that. And we have a great thing going and nothing is standing in our way. Except me. Careful. You’ll give him a reason to punch you again. I might punch him back next time. Listen, nothing’s gonna keep me from speaking the truth.

I’m sorry. Everything you just said to me, Chloe, sounds like a rationalization. It’s a hell of a way to start a lifetime commitment. That is so not fair. I don’t, I’m not worried about being fair right now. I just want you to wake up. Have you even thought about why you haven’t been able to say yes yet? Why you need more time to think about it?

Oh, there’s a reason, Chloe, and there’s still time. You can still say no. You know what I don’t have time for? This. Chloe, come on. What? What am I gonna stick around for so you can condescend to me some more? Thanks, but no thank you.

Sean, I came down here because you lost your grandfather. And because I am so scared that you’re gonna spiral down out of guilt again. You’ve done all this work with my mom. You’ve made so much progress. Please, please don’t throw that away. Look, Belle, all of the therapy sessions in the world is never gonna change the fact that this, this is my fault.

Okay, what if that were true? Which it’s not. Does it help anything for you to crawl inside a bottle? Doesn’t that do more damage to you and the people that love you? I don’t know, Belle. I just don’t think I’m as strong as you and Eric think I am.

You think Eric won’t forgive me because you never forgive anybody for anything. But you two are nothing alike. If I explain it, he’ll understand. You’re making a mistake. Go. Just leave. I’m telling Eric, the moment he gets back… And if I do, then this you have over me is gonna be zero. Don’t do it. You’ll lose him if you do.

That’s my problem, not yours.

Ah,

spoke too soon. Dimitri took the jet for his honeymoon to Iceland. Presumptuous jerk. That’s too late for a commercial flight tonight. So the elopement is off? No, no, no. We just need to be flexible. We’ll elope to Salem. You stay here. I’ll go down to City Hall and grab the forms we need for the license. And after that, we’ll get married as soon as I can practically make it happen.

I shall return.

Oh, I shouldn’t have said that thing about the Hindenburg.

You and Chloe are getting married. That was fast. Not as fast as you and Rex. Well, we had motivation. So when’s the big day? Chloe’s still thinking about it. But, I’m certain she’s going to say yes. Sooner than later, she… Loves me for who I am. She knows all the terrible things I’ve done. She… She is very understanding.

Or she has no standards whatsoever. Sorry, that was uncalled for. Look, are we done here? I’ll tell my mom that you stopped by. But it’s been a very long day, and I am exhausted. Well, I guess all that’s left to do is to wish you and Rex all the best with the baby. Thanks. Just be sure to let me know if he pops out of the Scottish accent.

You said what you came to say, and I, I mean, I love the fact that you have so much faith in me, but, listen, I’m not going anywhere, so please just leave me in peace, alright?

No. Did you hear what I said? Yeah, I heard you. But I’m not going anywhere. My place is here with you, so you can drink yourself into oblivion if that’s what you need to do. Well, I’m not gonna do it alone.

What situation is about to change? Are you thinking about removing Phillip as CEO? No, of course not. The problem is Chloe Lane. As I always knew it would be. There’s only one way to get Phillip’s head back into the business. How would that be? Remove Chloe Lane from the equation. Simple as that. What do you mean, kick her out of here?

No, I won’t have to. I don’t want you to steal her away from Philip. You’re wrong about her, Granddad. I just wish she were still around so I could prove

it to

you. Oh, hey! Oh, hey, you’re back. Uh, did you see Maggie? Uh, no, she was, uh, she was resting. But, um, I’m just gonna go see her tomorrow. Okay. That poor woman. I never thought Victor was good enough for her, but he and Maggie were crazy about each other. And she was so devoted to him. Yeah, she was. Actually, I’ve been thinking a lot about Maggie.

That in spite of Victor’s past and… All the things he did that she disapproved of, she took a chance that her love and devotion would make him a better man, and she went ahead and married him. I mean, it all worked out for them, right? Victor and Maggie were very happy together. Definitely. So, his thinking about all that…

Inspired you in any way? Actually… I have been inspired to emulate Maggie and say yes to you. Did I just say what I think I just heard? If you heard that I can’t wait to be your wife, then you heard right.

Shhh Rex? Hey.

It’s hard. Mom’s really struggling. But that’s not why I’m calling. Um,

I wanted to say yes to us getting married. The sooner the better. Shhh

Well, at least this time around has got to be better than that.

Watch where you’re going! I could say the same thing about you, but instead of getting into a big debate about it, I’ll simply say, I’m sorry, now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get some forms for a marriage license for Nicole and myself. Are you sure you wanna do that? What’s that supposed to mean?

Oh, you having wine open? I don’t know if this is ironic or hypocritical, but I just spent that, no, I squandered the last half an hour trying to get Sean to stop drinking and now I’d kill for a drink.

Eric? Well, Belle’s with him now, so maybe she’ll get through to him.

What’s, what’s wrong? Did something happen?

Eric, there’s something I have to tell you.

Liam: You say you haven’t forgotten all the pain thomas has caused us.

Hope: I haven’T.

Liam: You still kissed him. And I guess I just… I think if there were ever a day for you to step out of that fog and see thomas for who he really is… it’s beth’s birthday.

Thomas: Sorry I missed the party. I thought it was better I steered clear though.

Steffy: I don’t think so.

Thomas: Come on.

Steffy: It’s too cute, I don’t need this.

Thomas: It’s very cute.

Steffy: Yeah, donna and, uh, katie and the bodyguard took kelly out after, get some ice cream.

Thomas: Ice cream.

Steffy: Yeah.

Thomas: Sure it’s going to be very easy to put them to sleep.

Steffy: Well, I think they’ll crash pretty quick.

Thomas: How about you? You’re gonna crash quick? Look, I know it’s– I feel terrible, you– it might be hard for you right now and– but I am glad that you took the kids and you moved in here ’cause I’m sure you feel a lot safer.

Steffy: Yeah. I mean, yeah, it is– it is hard, also for liam and hope. What exactly is going on between you and hope?

[ Thomas laughs ]

[ Brooke moaning ]

[ Brooke laughing ]

Ridge: I am so grateful to have my logan back in my arms.

Brooke: Yeah, to do more of this.

[ Brooke moaning ] I’m grateful too, I am.

[ Brooke chuckles ]

Ridge: Okay. [ Groans ] Tell me about the birthday party. I really wanted to be there and then the day just got away from me, I don’t know what happened.

Brooke: Well, it’s okay. Everybody had a lot of fun. You’ve got to see this. Two sassy sisters.

Ridge: Ah, double trouble. Look at these guys.

Brooke: Oh, isn’t it cute? Beth is precious. She is a true miracle. Something I know isn’t lost on hope and liam. Maybe beth can help make another miracle happen.

[ Brooke sighs ]

Brooke: What? [ Laughs ]

Ridge: I don’t know, you just seem lighter.

Brooke: Yeah. Yeah, I guess I am. I mean, spending time with family does that to me. Spending time with you does that to me too.

Ridge: Hmm.

Brooke: Call me an optimist but seeing liam and hope together at their daughter’s party was really promising. And I know that they signed divorce papers and that they’re separated but you could still see the love between them.

Ridge: Speaking from experience, a love like that doesn’t just go away.

Brooke: It’s true. But circumstances changed in the worst way possible.

Ridge: You’re talking about my son.

Thomas: Hope and me? Uh, well, we have some press tomorrow.

Steffy: Nice try. Obviously, I know hope kissed you in rome.

Thomas: Yeah.

Steffy: Yeah. And I do know how you felt about her over the years.

[ Thomas scoffs ] Thomas, hope and liam’s marriage seems to be ending. They signed the divorce papers. So what does that mean for you and hope?

Hope: I will never forget how blessed we are to have beth in our lives after all of the heartbreak and all of the pain that we went through.

Liam: Do you really mean that?

Hope: Liam, of course, I do.

Liam: Then how can you have any involvement with thomas whatsoever? Listen, it’s a fact, he’s a brilliant designer. But… I have to ask you, respectfully, have you lost your damn mind?

[ Hope laughs ] Because hope, if thomas had his way, we wouldn’t have celebrated beth’s birthday today. I’m worried about you. I’m worried about your judgment and I’m just– I’m asking you, I’m begging you not to be defensive for one moment and just take a step back. And think about everything that thomas has done to us… and recognize him for the person that he is.

When it comes to getting

your flu shot,

Brooke: If hope and liam only saw what I saw today, what we all saw. How much they still love each other. This is a terrible situation to navigate, but they have been through so much together. They’ve come through so much, ridge, and they still love each other and they’re stronger than ever.

Ridge: And you really want them to reconcile?

Brooke: Yes, of course, I do. And beth, that sweet little innocent girl, she has no idea that her parents are on the verge of a divorce.

Ridge: But staying together for the sake of the kids is not always the best solution.

Brooke: No. But if they really do love each other that much, maybe their love can see them through, right? They just need to keep on fighting. I mean, none of this would have happened if–

Ridge: If it weren’t for thomas. Is that what you were gonna say?

Steffy: Thomas, come on. I know you’ve done a lot of work on yourself. You’re not the same person you used to be. This is hope, remember? She kissed you. You didn’t do anything wrong.

Thomas: Right. Of course.

Steffy: So I have no idea what’s going on with you and hope.

Thomas: Honestly, neither do I. [ Chuckles ]

Steffy: Right.

Thomas: All I want is hope’s happiness.

Steffy: You really feel that way?

Thomas: Yes.

Steffy: If hope wanted to reconcile with liam, repair their marriage, you’d be okay with that?

Liam: She was so excited. Were you there when– when she said that she wishes every day was her birthday?

[ Hope chuckles ]

Hope: Well just wait until she’s older, I’m pretty sure that wish will go away.

Liam: Oh, god, she’s so cute. Just the little– her smile and her laugh and her little giggles. Just, it’s infectious and she gets that from you, obviously.

Hope: Oh, really? Well, what about her power of persuasion? Because I’m pretty sure she gets that from you. I think I might have let her have about four of those seahorse cookies.

Liam: You didn’T.

Hope: I did.

[ Both chuckling ]

Liam: I wish I could persuade you like that. Would’ve saved us a lot of grief. I’ve tried to make sense of what happened, s– seeing you kissing thomas in rome. It was… it was– it was a shock, you know, after all those months of me voicing my concerns and begging you not to let him get close. I mean, I went out there to– to surprise you, to support you, and to stumble upon you kissing him in front of the colosseum…

Hope: Liam… I’m sorry. I– I’m sorry, I– I’ll say it time and time again, I never meant to hurt you.

Liam: Hey, I believe you. I know that it kills you to see me hurt. I know that. That’s why it’s worth trying to get through to you because I don’t– I don’t think this is you. I really think you’ve lost yourself. Just let me help you find your way back. I’m not just accomplished.

Ridge: You think that hope and liam’s marriage is ending because of my son.

Brooke: No, I– I didn’t say that.

Ridge: You’re kind of saying that. Let’s– but let’s– let’s try to remember that hope went after thomas in rome. And you found them in his bed. That means she made the journey.

Brooke: I know. I know, that’s what I’m saying. She’s the one who instigated this. But I just wish that thomas respected her marriage–

Ridge: She doesn’t respect it.

Brooke: Regardless of all that. It doesn’t matter. I just pray that hope and liam find a way through this and manage to reunite their family.

Steffy: I’m serious, thomas. If hope and liam work things out, if they salvage their marriage, you’d be okay with that?

Thomas: Yes. Like I said, I want hope to be happy and fulfilled, okay? And if that’s with liam, then so be it.

Steffy: But you don’t think that’s gonna happen?

Thomas: Well, you said it yourself. All right, they already signed divorce papers. So I think it’s only a matter of time before the marriage is officially over.

Steffy: And you’ll be waiting for her.

Thomas: [ Sighs ]

Liam: Please– please understand. This is not me bashing you, it’s not me criticizing you. I– I’m just– I’m trying to get you to see how far away from hope logan you are.

[ Liam scoffs ] And you know something, it’s– it’s probably just because you’re too good.

Hope: [ Laughs ] Too good?

Liam: Yeah, you’re too good. You are. You always try to see the best in people. You always believe that people can change.

Hope: I hate to break it to you, liam, but that’s why I fell in love with you. You try to live your life that way.

Liam: Yeah, but not when it comes to people like thomas, I shouldn’t do that and you shouldn’t either. You gotta get out– out– outside of this. You gotta end whatever this is that– that’s going on with thomas and– and step over to my side and see what I see so clearly. Because hope, you’re not alone and there is a path back. Arthritis pain?

Thomas: [ Laughs ] That is a forrester original if I’ve ever seen one.

Ridge: Well, I’m just trying to keep up with my trending son. I’m glad you’re here.

Thomas: Thanks.

Ridge: Haven’t really seen enough of each other lately.

Thomas: Well, things have just been crazy ever since the hope for the future rome event.

Ridge: Um, that was a crazy trip, too, wasn’t it? It was fun.

Thomas: Yeah.

Ridge: You worked hard. You worked on your skills. Years and years have finally paid off and now you get to reap your rewards.

Thomas: Yeah, thanks. It means a lot to hear you say that.

Ridge: Speaking of rewards, how is your relationship with hope? And let’s just assume for a moment that it wasn’t just a kiss in rome. What’s going on with the two of you?

Steffy: Well, it seemed like a great party. Kelly recounted every single moment for me. I think she may have had more fun than beth.

Liam: I– I don’t doubt it. And those two, you really couldn’t find a more perfect pair, could you?

Steffy: Yeah.

Liam: I mean, beth just looks up to kelly, like– like she’s the coolest thing ever, you know? And– and kelly, well, she is the coolest, she’s like the most patient older sister you could ask for. It’s just– we– we got really lucky.

Steffy: Yeah, we did. Our big, mixed-up family.

Liam: [ Laughs ] Yeah.

Steffy: So, how did, uh– how things go here with hope?

Liam: Uh, I– I don’t think either one of us wanted to, you know, contaminate beth’s birthday party with our issues, especially since she doesn’t know what’s going on between her parents right now.

Steffy: Yeah, well that’s good.

Liam: It still freaks me out that hope ever turned to thomas in the first place. And I know, but I always felt like, you know, I– I could never get through to her. Like, I– like, no matter how many times I pleaded with her, she just didn’t listen. And today, she kind of did. Like, okay, so– so we’re dropping the presents off at the cabin and it gave us a moment alone to just kind of talk. And… I don’t know, it felt like for the first time, maybe I got through to her.

Brooke: Oh, beth had such a good time at her birthday party, right? She’s so cute, so precious.

Hope: I know, she’s our little miracle girl.

Brooke: Yeah, that’s true. You and liam can never forget what you went through to make sure that she was a part of your lives.

Hope: Did you two plan this? Because liam was over here after the party and he felt the need to remind me of everything we had been through with thomas as well. Not like I would ever forget that horrible night.

Brooke: I know we’re talking about ridge’s son here. And yes, I do see some changes with him, for the better, but we can never forget what he did. How he almost deprived you of raising your daughter, being with her.

Hope: No, I– I hear what you’re saying, I do. And I heard liam too.

Brooke: You did?

Hope: Yes, mom, I did. Uh, liam thinks that i have lost my way and he’s obviously still hurt by what he saw, um, when I kissed thomas in rome.

Brooke: Thankfully, that’s all he knows about.

Hope: Yes, that is all he knows about. But seeing him with beth at the party, how happy she was seeing us together and what an amazing father he is. It just, um… I don’t know, it put things into perspective a little bit for me. So, uh, maybe liam is right and I have lost my way. Uh, ’cause everything I’ve done, I mean, cheating on my husband, sleeping with another man. I mean, that’s not me, right? How could I possibly do that? I– I just think the problem is maybe I… don’t know who I am anymore.

Brooke: [ Chuckles ] Wow. I mean, this is actually– this is– this is great, honey. Really, I– I’m glad to hear this because it means you’re coming back to yourself. I mean, I can see it in your face and in your eyes. You’re being honest. And yes, you got swept up with thomas, but you’re gonna have to put an end to that. And you’re gonna have to focus on your family because I know how much you still love them. You do. So, fight for your family. Please, hope, it’s not too late. It’s never too late.

Recap written by Terry

After discovering Connor tried to run away to live with Chelsea’s mother, Adam and Chelsea struggled with Connor’s desire to leave his school, Walnut Grove, and to even leave Genowa city.

Connor explained that he had no friends there, and that kids at school talked about the problems his family faced. He said the kids talked about him behind his back because Adam fought with his family and about Chelsea’s issues. He added the other kids also talked about him since Connor found out he and Johnny are brothers, instead of cousins.

Connor said he wanted to go to a school where other kids would not know about him or his family and would want to be friends. Connor researched online and found a school near Chelsea’s mother, Anita, that helped kids Connor’s age with anxiety and depression. Connor said he does not want to go to that bad place Chelsea was in and Chelsea agreed she did not want that for him, either.

Adam was hesitant to allow Connor to go, reasoning that Connor could change schools and get help where they live right now. He explained that he and Connor need each other and always have fun when they are together, but Chelsea pointed out that Connor comes before either of them and it was a good idea to visit the school to see if it’s the right school for Connor. Adam agreed that Connor’s wellbeing was the most important thing.

Chelsea saw Sharon at the coffee house, told her that Connor wanted to leave his school, the city and to visit a new school near Chelsea’s mother. Sharon replied that the school had a very good reputation for its work with children and teenagers. Sharon told Chelsea it was very mature and self aware of Connor to look for solutions to his problems, and that speaks to good parenting.

At the Athletic Club, Daniel asked Heather if she was avoiding him. Heather admitted she was, and it was because he had a lot going on and that she did not want to complicate his life. Heather said Daniel had come a long way from the person he was after he drove away both Lucy and Heather. Heather stated she was glad Daniel’s relationship with Lucy was on solid ground again.

She said she would in remain in Genowa city for a while longer, since her law firm closes every August for three weeks and she is in no rush to return to Portugal. She admitted she did not share her plans because she was not sure how Daniel would feel. He responded that he would take all the time he could get with Lucy, that he thought it was fantastic they were staying and he took Heather’s hand. Lily returned to the club and appeared concerned after seeing that.

As Daniel left for a work meeting, Lily praised Heather for keeping Phyllis out of jail. Heather said Phyllis deserved all the credit since it was Phyllis who pleaded for leniency and convinced the judge, who decided that an appropriate sentence would be probation and community service. Although Heather said she was happy that Lily and Daniel found each other again, Heather appeared troubled after Lily stepped away to take a work call.

Chance informed Sharon that retired former police chief Paul Williams recommended Chance to be the new police chief. Chance said he felt that a career in police work chose him, but that he wasn’t sure the job of police chief was right for him. Chance said he enjoyed the work he does now, and noted that the chief of police had to oversee every case that’s being investigated, meaning he would not be in the field, actively investigating cases. Sharon indicated she liked Paul’s recommendation, since it would mean less danger.

Recap written by Suzanne

Anna awakens groggily in her hotel room, wondering where Valentin is. She finds his briefcase and picks the lock. She pulls out a file with the Pikeman logo on it. She’s shocked but manages to close the briefcase and put it back before he walks in the door (but the file is still out). She asks him for help in finding out who destroyed her life. He suggests that whomever did it were professionals and probably covered their tracks well. He will investigate, cautiously, but he doesn’t think it will be easy to find the culprit. He also lies to her again about being at ELQ. Anna goes to take a shower, since she has to go talk to her insurance company about the fire. When she comes out, Valentin is gone, and so is his briefcase and the Pikeman file.

Robert goes to a judge’s chambers. The judge is late, but Diane is there. They play their usual little verbal games. He asks her about the car show, so she goes on and on about how beautiful the cars were and hints that she was there with a date, not Alexis. He looks perturbed. Diane smiles at the effect she has on him. Robert gets a phone call about Anna’s house burning down, so he rushes off to see her. Anna is upset when Robert visits, pouring her heart out about the fire. He holds her tenderly. He offers to go with her to the insurance office, but she asks him to first help her tell Robin over Zoom about the fire, so he does (we don’t see Robin, though).

Olivia finds Ned eating cold lasagna, which horrifies her. She offers to make him a frittata, but he likes cold lasagna. He can tell that she’s still freaking out, so he lets her warm up the lasagna. He realizes it’s pretty good. Olivia is bothered that he doesn’t want any parmesan because Ned loved it. They chat a little about Leo. She tries to question him about his late night, but he confides that he spent most of the night playing his guitar and working on a new song in the solarium (he did mention that Tracy showed up drunk in the wee hours). He tells her that his muse is Elvis and invites her to listen to his new song, which she’s happy to do. While he goes to get his guitar, Monica phones Olivia, so they chat for a few seconds. Monica is traveling but wanted to check in, especially about how Ned’s doing. Olivia explains that he’s still Eddie but things are looking up. Eddie makes some wise observations about how Olivia does so much for everyone. He plays and sings the song, which is beautiful. It’s about being lost at sea and hearing a siren. The song clearly moves Olivia, and she gets upset when he stops. He hasn’t yet written the rest of the song. She thanks him for sharing it with her.

Joss chats with Carly at home before she leaves for the Metro Court pool. She plans to go there and study, since school is starting soon. After she leaves, Carly gets a call from Drew, from Pentonville. Carly is very happy that Drew is out of solitary. They catch up a little, and she promises to come see him. She’s not happy that he rescued Cyrus. Meanwhile, Cyrus has a flashback to when he got into a fight (before Drew saved him). Drew walks in, so he greets him. Drew looks warily at him. Cyrus talks about how his heart attack changed him. As usual, his words seem to mean more than one thing, so it’s hard to figure out what he really means. Cyrus makes it clear, though, that he owes Drew his life for saving him.

Diane drops by Carly’s place to chat about Robert and trying to have a romantic relationship again. Carly thinks, at first, that she’s just there to bring bad news (since she usually does). Diane is afraid of getting hurt again.

On the phone, Betty tries to get Mason to tell her she doesn’t have to be Avery’s nanny any more, but he doesn’t want her to leave yet. When she gets to the penthouse, Sonny plays with her – like a cat with a mouse. He tells her that Avery is sick, so she can’t see her today. He even gives her some extra money. Dex follows her, like before, on Sonny’s orders. Betty goes to the Metro Court pool and uses Sonny’s gift to order a bunch of food and drinks. Joss, seated nearby, says nasty things to her. Dex arrives and rushes over to Joss, then kisses her passionately to shut her up before she could wonder why he’s there. He pretends that they had a date to meet, and he’s late. Joss keeps looking at him quizzically. Eventually, she asks him what’s going on, but he has to leave when Betty does, so he asks her to trust him.

Valentin receives a text from Sonny, demanding that he drop by, so he does. Sonny argues on the phone with Ava, explaining that they’ve set their trap for Betty. Sonny questions Valentin about his involvement with Pikeman. Valentin worries that Sonny isn’t taking Pikeman seriously and warns him to take the offered deal, but Sonny isn’t going to do that. It’s clear he doesn’t trust the Pikeman group, nor Valentin

Recap written by Suzanne

Liam sits with Hope in their cabin home; he tries to get her to remember how bad Thomas was and how good she is. They just celebrated Beth’s birthday, so they both remember that Thomas knew that Steffy’s adopted daughter “Phoebe” was really Beth, and he said nothing. Liam thinks that Hope is not acting like herself; he hints that they could find their way back to each other.

Thomas visits Steffy, having missed the birthday party for Beth on purpose. He didn’t want there to be any awkwardness with Liam and Hope. Steffy wants to know what his relationship is now with Hope, and whether he could let her go back to Liam. He doesn’t think Hope will go back to Liam, since they already signed divorce papers, but he wants Hope to be happy, regardless. Later, Liam visits Steffy. They talk about the girls and then Hope and Thomas. Liam thinks that Hope may have finally listened to him about Thomas.

Ridge and Brooke kiss in the office. Ridge had missed the birthday party, so Brooke shows him some photos on her phone. They talk about whether Liam and Hope will get back together. Ridge knows that Brooke blames Thomas for their troubles. Brooke hopes that Liam and Hope can get back together. Later, Thomas drops by Ridge’s office and admires a design that Ridge is working on. They catch up. Ridge praises Thomas’ success but, like Steffy, wants to know what’s going on between Thomas and Hope.

Brooke visits Hope in the cabin. Brooke mentions something similar to what Liam said about Thomas (and Beth’s past). Brooke can tell that Thomas has changed for the better, but she can’t forgive him of what he’s done. Hope assures her that she heard what she and Liam are saying. She admits that seeing Liam with Beth at the party helped put things in perspective for her. She wonders if Liam is right, that she’s lost herself. She beats herself up for sleeping with Thomas behind Liam’s back. Hope says she thinks she doesn’t know who she is any more. Brooke thinks that this means Hope is coming back to being herself. She urges Hope to put an end to her relationship with Thomas and focus on her family. Hope looks very confused.

Interview with Hudson West of “General Hospital” on ABC by Suzanne 8/10/23

It was so great to speak to this young man! I’m glad he’s coming back on GH. It sounds like he’s going to have a good storyline. If you’ve been watching the show for years, you know what an amazing actor he is.  Even more importantly, he seems to be very grounded and to have a good head on his shoulders.

MORE INFO:

Scene on "General Hospital" with Hudson West (Jake), Michael Easton (Finn), Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) and Jason David (Aiden) on ABC (screencap).

Adam: Look, I’m not giving up on Newman media or this merger, it’s going to happen eventually. Not only because it’s a savvy business move, but because I deserve it.

Sally: Okay, Adam, maybe you should stop thinking so much about what you deserve and start appreciating what you actually have, which, unlike me, is a company to run that has every chance of being very successful.

************

Connor: I’m not really going to my friend’s.

Sally: Were you thinking about running away? Mm. I get it. I’ve run away a bunch of times in my life.

Connor: Really?

Sally: Yes, and I was a lot older than you. You know, I– I thought that if I just took off that all of my problems would just disappear with me. But guess what? They followed me everywhere I went, and they did not go away until I figured out what I needed to do.

Connor: That’s just it. I don’t know what to do.

Sally: You’ll figure it out. But it’s really hard to have that happen if you keep it all inside. You should tell the people that love you and care about you what’s going on. You just talk to them like you’re talking to me. I did call your dad. He and your mom are waiting for you at the coffee house. Would you let me walk you back there.

Billy: You’re kidding, right? I mean, you gotta be kidding. Ashley, as your brother, trust me, take the offer because with diane involved, the family, the company, all of it, it’s gonna go to hell.

Jack: What is it with you? You can’t go five minutes without making some snide comment to piss me off. What is it? Insecurity? Jealousy? Just bad habits?

Billy: Do I have to pick one, Jack? You know what? Why don’t you stop gaslighting our sister, you sanctimonious ass–

Tucker: I’m sorry. Would you please shut up? This is supposed to be our evening. Ashley’s and mine, not yours. And I’ll be damned if anything is going to let you ruin it. If this isn’t where you wanna spend your evening, take it somewhere else. Or you know what? Let’s you and I take it somewhere else. My apologies.

Ashley: No, it’s– we’re not going anywhere.

****************************

Ashley: Yeah. Billy, I’m sorry. Uh, what Jack said, did it hurt you?

Billy: No, it’s okay. There’s no need to apologize. I’ve got thick skin. I’m an Abbott, okay? So, Mr. and Mrs., Congratulations. I wish you nothing but the best.

Tucker: Thanks.

Ashley: Yeah, bye.

Billy: Shall we?

Tucker: Bye.

Ashley: Okay. Well, no problem. More champagne for us, right?

Tucker: I’ll drink to that. See what I did there?

Ashley: That’s good. So, anybody want some cake?

Adam: Tell that to our father. Merging this company is a good idea. You know it, Sharon knows it, our father even knows it. He’s just being difficult to put me in my place. And Victoria, she won’t go along with it because she’s threatened by me.

Nick: No, Adam, no. She hates you. It’s a big difference.

****************

Nick: You know, this. I– it’s another example. Look at me. She is not with you anymore. She is with me. You need to respect that.

Adam: Nick, Sally ordered the food. See, she set the table. She unpacked boxes for me. You see, she thinks that she loves you, and I’m part of her past because I hurt her, but the memories of that hurt are not going to last forever. And soon she’s going to remember what it’s like to be with somebody who loves her more than you ever will. Feeling sluggish or weighed down?

Nick: Now, you are delusional and selfish. Sally doesn’t want your love anymore. She doesn’t want your vision for the future. You need to move on. She has made her choice.

Adam: Yeah, you. But you’ll never put her first, and you damn well know it, nick.

Nick: You just keep bringing up that night with Cameron. Sally seems to understand, but you just can’t do it, can you?

Adam: You know, let me make something clear. I don’t owe you anything. I respect Sally’s feelings, but yours, they do not concern me. I’m fine to work with you. It’s what Sharon wants, it’s what victor wants. And it’s important assets that Sharon brings in the financial backing that victor has, but personally, I don’t care what you think or how you feel.

Nick: This is the life you are choosing. Think about it. You’re just so focused on everything that you think was stolen from you, Newman Media and sally’s love, but you can’t think beyond your own rage and loss. You have nothing and no one and you can’t blame anyone but yourself for that.

Adam: Get out, nick. Sally is waiting for you, so don’t disappoint her.

Billy: I like having my kids near us, you know? I’m not– look, let me ask you. Are– are you– you want them going away to boarding school because you do believe that’s the best thing for them or are you okay with them going away because that gives you time to focus on your work and your relationship with Nate?

Victoria: What? You cannot seriously be accusing me of sending the kids away so I can fixate on my love life. Don’t even dare go there, billy. You haven’t approved of anyone that I’ve been involved with.

Billy: How many times have I been right?

Victoria: You haven’t been wrong in some cases. You know, I’m starting to wonder if maybe you have a problem with me being happy without you. Is that– is that what you want, Billy? You want for me to be miserable?

Billy: I’ve never, ever wanted that. So, either you don’t know me well enough, which I don’t think is true, or something is– is really wrong right now.

*************************

Victoria: You’re right. I do know you better than that. I was out of line. I’m sorry.

Billy: I’m sorry, okay? Victoria, you are an amazing mother, okay? We know that. Our kids wouldn’t be the incredible kids they are if it weren’t for you.

Victoria: And yet, you have an issue with me and nate.

Billy: It’s more of a concern than an issue, okay? Because I– I– I can’t help it. I think you deserve better than what you’ve had in the past. Ashland, jt… me.

Victoria: Eh. You know. All things considered, you weren’t really that bad.

Billy: All things considered meaning that I didn’t actually fake cancer or try to kill you? Yeah, you’re right. I probably should get points for that.

Victoria: It’s the little things.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Recap written by Suzanne

Dante finds his mom at the Metro Court pool, doing menial work. Olivia is just trying to keep herself from worrying about Ned and dealing with losing him. Dante gets called away to deal with the fire at Anna’s house. Later, Ned leaves Sonny’s and shows up at the Metro Court. She thanks him for coming to her rescue and tells him that she knows now that he’s Eddie, not Ned, and she makes sure he knows that she would never have him committed like Tracy wants. They share a warm moment.

Sonny is on the phone, arguing with Selina, when Ned leaves. Betty arrives to see Sonny, as he requested. He makes sure she can stay with Avery after her summer camp, at the penthouse, because he has a meeting until 5. She readily agrees. He praises her work with Avery. He then meets with Dex to explain to him his “trap” for Betty, Mason and Austin. He has a USB drive that Brick made up with fake information about his deal with Pikeman. There’s a tracking device on it, and when they give their boss the drive, they’ll be able to use it find out who he is and deal with him.

Carly chats with Josslyn at home. Josslyn feels bad that she had her phone off all night, but Carly tells her not to worry about it. Carly explains what happened at the Highsider bar last night and why she spent the night in jail rather than get help from Sonny. Josslyn is confused, so Carly also explains why she and Sonny will always be connected. Later, Sonny drops by to see Donna and chats with Carly. He wonders why she wouldn’t let him check her out of the police station last night. She tells him that she has to be more independent and can’t rely on him any more.

Valentin tells Anna, at her burned-down house, that the police and fireman are wrapping things up. She looks like she’s in shock as she stares grimly at one of her burned photos. He suggests that they leave. He blames himself for not being there last night while the fire happened, but she tells him it wasn’t his fault. He figures this is revenge from someone that found out she was a double agent (because of Victor). Anna thinks that one of the many people she hurt in the past is out for revenge against her. Valentin tries to make her see that it’s not her fault (to no avail). Dante arrives and asks her to come to the station for a statement. They talk about what happened. Dante is clearly suspicious of Valentin and checks on his motive. Anna doesn’t think that the WSB or Pikeman targeted her. She thinks it’s someone who wants revenge.

Austin is not happy to see Mason in his office again. Mason has a headache from being hit over the head with a bottle (by Carly). Betty arrives, further irritating Austin. She tells them that she will be snooping around Sonny’s penthouse to dig up some dirt for their boss. Mason reminds Austin that their boss paid for Austin to go to medical school so that he could help them, so Austin will never be able to leave. Austin wonders why their boss wants the info, but Mason claims not to know.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Justin looks at an old photo of himself and Victor. Justin pulls out his phone and calls his son Sonny. Justin says he hopes he didn’t wake him up but he’s afraid he has some bad news about his uncle Victor. Justin reveals there’s been an accident.

Belle finishes her call with John and then informs Shawn that John said they found the wreckage in the Mediterranean and recovered Victor’s body. Shawn argues that it can’t be true but Belle confirms that it is and says she’s so sorry. Shawn goes over that Victor was supposed to be home last night and he blew off the homecoming dinner because he didn’t want to see him, but now he’s never going to see him again.

At the Pub, Kate prepares to call Philip when Chloe approaches and says she’s so sorry to hear about Victor as it was such a shock. Chloe knows it’s been years since Kate and Victor were married, but they shared a child together and buried that child together, so she’s sure that now Kate is thinking about both Victor and Philip. Kate responds that Chloe has no idea.

Xander sits alone in his office and thinks back to his last conversation with Victor about his wedding to Sarah where Victor acknowledged Xander as a true Kiriakis. Xander then starts to cry. Brady then enters the office.

Maggie lays in bed crying. Julie enters her room and says she thought she could use a friend as they hug.

Kate tells Chloe that she’s right that Victor’s death did hit her harder than she thought it would. Chloe is not surprised since Kate, Victor, and Philip were a family once, so she imagines losing Victor is bringing back the pain of losing her son. Kate looks down at Philip’s number on her phone.

Shawn talks to Belle about figuring out why he was never as close to Victor as Philip, Brady, or Ciara. Shawn talks about his parents not naming him after Victor. Belle asks why he would go there now and says Shawn couldn’t have helped that. Shawn brings up Victor and Kate covered up Claire’s paternity and tried to pass her off as Philip’s. Shawn complains that Victor didn’t give a damn about how much that hurt them as he flashes back to arguing with Victor. Belle tells Shawn that was a long time ago and that he and Victor moved past that to have a really good relationship in the end. Shawn responds that he just doesn’t know.

Maggie tells Julie that she keeps trying to remember her and Victor’s final conversation in her mind, wondering what she last said to him. Julie assures that Victor knew she loved him and that he loved her so much. Maggie flashes back to her and Victor’s wedding. Maggie cries that Victor made her so happy as Julie hugs her.

Brady tells Xander that he’s sorry to interrupt, but he wanted to make sure he knew about Victor. Xander confirms that Justin told him and that he was just about to go see Maggie. Brady says he just came from there and Maggie wants to be alone. Xander decides he’ll try to see her later then. Xander asks if Brady wanted something else. Brady says it’s easy to forget they are family but they are family, so out of respect for Victor, he wanted to apologize to him for kissing Chloe. Xander gets upset and questions why he did that as Brady is surprised that Chloe didn’t tell him. Brady admits he wasn’t thinking and he was upset because he had just lost Rachel. Brady adds that he was trying to talk Chloe out of marrying Xander. Xander calls Brady an absolute bastard and punches him.

Kate questions why Chloe is being so nice to her, noting that it’s adding to her paranoia about the universe. Chloe brings up when she met Philip in high school and how Victor hating her was one of the few constants in her life. Chloe thinks back to Victor complaining about her to Maggie. Chloe can’t imagine what Victor would say about her and Xander. Kate asks what about her and Xander. Chloe thought everyone knew but informs Kate that she and Xander are in a relationship. Chloe says they originally moved in for convenience but things just progressed. Kate brings up how Brady must be handling that.

Xander apologizes to Brady and gets him ice, noting that he shouldn’t have lost his temper like that. Brady acknowledges that he probably deserved that. Brady informs Xander that Chloe shut him down and told him that she’s moving on and not looking back. Xander feels if that were really the case, she would’ve accepted his proposal by now. Brady argues that they haven’t been together that long. Xander complains that Brady and Philip were Victor’s golden ones and he doesn’t think Chloe will ever get over her feelings for them.

Justin wishes Sonny was there and encourages him to remember and be grateful for the time they had with Victor as Bonnie walks in. Justin tells Sonny that he loves him and hangs up. Bonnie knows Justin felt he had to be strong for Sonny, but he doesn’t for her. Bonnie then hugs Justin as he breaks down crying.

Belle argues that Shawn cannot possibly doubt Victor’s love for him, reminding him that Victor apologized and he forgave him. Shawn questions if Victor was ever going to forgive him for shooting Bo. Belle believes that Victor knows what happened was an accident. Shawn points out that Victor will never get to hug Bo again or hear his voice and that’s another reason he can’t forgive himself.

Julie tells Maggie that she was thinking about when they all first found out that Maggie and Victor were in love and how wrong they were to think it would never last because they were such different people. Julie encourages that it did last because Maggie was the only person that always told Victor the truth. Maggie jokes that she mostly kept him honest. Julie states that Maggie held Victor’s family and company together and brought out the best in him. Julie adds that Victor had an ornament on the Horton Christmas Tree because of her. Maggie responds that Victor brought out the best in her too. Maggie talks about being consumed with grief when she lost Mickey until Victor came along. Maggie flashes back to when her and Victor first got together. Maggie tells Julie that when she lost Mickey, she thought she would never fall in love again. Maggie flashes back to her wedding to Mickey. Julie understands that Maggie was trying to protect her heart from feeling that terrible grief again. Maggie states that Victor made her see it was worth it.

Bonnie comments on the old photo of Justin and Victor, joking that Victor didn’t change much over the years. Justin says he actually mellowed over the years. Justin recalls Victor really not liking Adrienne when they first got together, but in the end, he swallowed his pride and gave them his blessing. Justin flashes back to that time and asking Victor to be his best man. Justin tells Bonnie that Victor truly was like a father to him and the only father he had for most of his life. Justin cries that he’s really going to miss Victor.

Belle tells Shawn that he cannot blame himself as he’s making a lot of progress in therapy. Shawn complains that was when he thought Victor was eventually going to come around, but they hadn’t talked in months because he thought Victor hated him. Belle argues against that while Shawn says they’ll never get the chance and declares that the worst part is, Victor would never have been on that plane if it wasn’t for him.

Brady questions Xander thinking that he and Philip were Victor’s favorites. Brady points out how many times Victor fired him and argues that they had to deal with all the same things. Brady relates to being fired, kicked out of the mansion, and disowned as he thinks back to a past argument with Victor. Brady comments on Victor being involved with his own power and pitting them all against each other to bring out their competitive instincts and make them better at business. Xander acknowledges that they all hated it but they all fell in line. Brady declares that all they really wanted to do was please Victor. Xander adds that’s because they loved him. Brady then hugs Xander.

Chloe tells Kate that Brady definitely didn’t take it well when he found out that Xander proposed. Kate is shocked to learn that Xander proposed, but points out that Chloe isn’t wearing a ring. Chloe says she told him that she needed time to think about it. Kate guesses that’s because of her feelings for Brady. Chloe says that’s part of it but points out that Xander only proposed after Gwen married Dimitri and he found out that Sarah was back with Rex. Kate questions that as Rex never mentioned to her that they were back together. Chloe states that she’s just trying to get a handle on Xander’s feelings and her own. Chloe adds that her relationship with Brady ended so abruptly and admits there’s also Philip which Kate questions. Chloe says they had gotten so close before he died and now hearing about Victor’s passing brought back a flood of memories of all the good times that she and Philip had and how they truly loved each other once. Chloe can’t imagine how much Kate misses Philip and says she can’t imagine losing a child. Kate thinks back to telling Victor about Philip faking his own death. Kate then tearfully informs Chloe that she has something to tell her.

Julie tells Maggie that she know words are a cold comfort right now, but reminds her that she got past losing Mickey, so she will get past losing Victor because she’s strong and has so many things to live for like her children and grandchildren. Maggie agrees. Julie asks if she can call anyone for her. Maggie says no and mentions that she’s talked to Sarah and Melissa, but wishes they weren’t so far away. Julie brings up all the battles that Maggie has won over the years including learning to walk again and getting sober. Julie reminds Maggie of when she came back from the dead and jokes that she beat Bonnie at all her ridiculous games. Maggie thinks back to her past rivalry with Bonnie. Maggie jokingly asks who would’ve predicted that she and Bonnie would be living under the same roof again. Julie points out that Bonnie didn’t get her claws in to Victor while Maggie points out that it didn’t stop her from trying.

Bonnie talks to Justin about Victor allowing her to move in. Justin recalls them not getting off on the right foot. Bonnie flashes back to that and laughs. They then flash back to when they told Victor they were getting married. Bonnie states that Victor did give her a hard time but cries that she’s going to miss him as they hug.

Belle encourages Shawn to not blame himself. Shawn argues that Victor wouldn’t have been visiting Bo in some secret hospital if he hadn’t shot him. Belle argues that they don’t even know where Victor was going and he could’ve been on a business trip. Belle insists that Shawn is not in his right mind and this is just his grief talking but Shawn says he’s not crazy. Shawn adds that he’s not the only one blaming himself because everyone out there is blaming him too.

Kate starts to tell Chloe but stops and says she knows that Chloe really loved Philip and Brady, so she’s sorry for how much she suffered because of both of them. Kate adds that whatever her future is with Xander, she’s glad she is there for him because maybe she can help him heal and vice versa. Chloe agrees and wipes a tear.

Brady tells Xander that he should go and jokes about his punch. Brady assures Xander that he still can’t stand him and hopes Chloe comes to her senses about marrying him. Xander responds that he doesn’t care what he thinks. Brady then exits. Xander takes his briefcase and then leaves the office as well.

Maggie thanks Julie for lifting her spirits and making her laugh. Julie acknowledges that they went through a lot of things together. Maggie is so grateful to have Julie as a niece and as her dearest friend. Maggie calls Julie the sweetest and most generous friend that anyone could ever ask for. Julie responds that she wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Maggie as they flash back to Maggie rescuing Julie when she was caught on fire. Julie decides to let Maggie get some rest and asks if she can bring her anything. Maggie says no, but she could come back tomorrow. Julie says that Maggie’s memories of Victor and everything that makes her cry today will comfort her tomorrow and in years to come, it will give her joy. Maggie responds that Julie always says just the right thing. Maggie and Julie both feel blessed as they hug.

Belle asks why Shawn would think everyone blames him for Victor’s death when he hasn’t even talked to anyone. Shawn argues that his grandfather dies dramatically and unexpectedly in a plane crash and no one bothered to call him to let him know. Belle insists that everyone’s upset and confused while Shawn believes they all think he’s guilty because he is. Shawn complains that he’s angry and just has to get out of here. Belle suggests they go home but Shawn wants to be alone. Belle warns Shawn not to go to a bar because he can’t afford to get suspended again. Shawn tells Belle to just leave him alone and let him go as he storms out of his office.

Kate apologizes to Chloe for keeping her. Chloe says she just came to get Xander some food, but he just texted that he’s going to check on Maggie and she’s not really hungry. Kate guesses it was a waste of time then but Chloe disagrees and says it was actually really nice talking to her. Kate admits that she was just thinking the same thing and guesses there’s a first time for everything. Kate wishes Chloe luck and tells her to take care. Chloe thanks her and then exits the Pub. Kate goes back to her phone and calls Philip. Kate tells Philip that she has something to tell him and it’s sad news about his dad.

Julie goes to the living room where Justin greets her and asks how Maggie is doing. Julie responds that they had a good talk and she’s a strong woman. Julie asks how Justin is doing. Justin admits he’s a little numb. Julie thinks they all are since Victor seemed invincible but people didn’t realize how vulnerable the man was. Justin admits he never associated vulnerable with Victor. Julie tells Justin that if he walks her out, she will tell him stories of his uncle that no one has ever heard. Justin says he would love that as he walks Julie out of the mansion.

Bonnie goes to Maggie’s room. Maggie says she’s trying to get some rest. Bonnie mentions having tea that might help with that. Bonnie says she won’t say long and just wanted to bring her special sleep remedy that knocks her out when her mind is racing. Maggie thanks her and calls that very thoughtful. Bonnie hopes she had a nice visit with Julie. Maggie confirms that she did and that they had a long stroll down memory lane. Bonnie imagines her name came up. Bonnie says this might not be the right time to bring this up, but losing Victor reminds her of when Maggie lost Mickey. Bonnie tells Maggie that deep down, she knew she never had a chance with Mickey because his heart belonged to Maggie from the moment they met. Maggie flashes back to first meeting Mickey. Maggie declares that was 50 years ago and sometimes, it feels like yesterday.

Shawn sits at the bar with a drink. His phone rings, but he ignores it.

Belle runs in to Chloe outside the Pub. Chloe asks how she is. Belle doesn’t know if she heard. Chloe confirms she heard about Victor and asks how Shawn’s doing. Belle says that Shawn is devastated and blaming himself. Chloe asks how he could be responsible for a plane crash. Belle explains that it was because Victor was visiting Bo. Belle mentions that Shawn took off and she thought he might be here. Chloe says she hasn’t seen him but offers to help look for him. Belle says it’s okay since Shawn said he wanted to be alone, but she’s just really worried. Chloe says she’s there if she needs anything. Belle stops to apologize for being so negative about Xander proposing to her and she will support whatever Chloe decides. Chloe thanks her and says that means a lot as she reveals that she was actually thinking about saying yes, right as Brady walks up and hears her.

Xander goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and enters the living room, looking for Maggie, but instead he finds Sarah, who turns around, revealing to Xander that she is pregnant.

Happy 50th Anniversary Suzanne Rogers, ending with a montage of clips showcasing Maggie over the past 50 years.

Chelsea: Connor. Look at me, please. Why won’t you tell me what’s bothering you? Your attitude this morning has been unacceptable. If you don’t want to go to sports camp, that’s okay. But we have to be able to talk about it in a calm and respectful way.

[ Connor sighs ]

[ Chelsea sighs ]

[ Chelsea sighs ]

Adam: How’d things go with victor? When do you start your new job at newman?

Sally: I don’T.

Adam: What do you mean? What happened?

Sally: Victor pulled the plug. And he did it because of you.

[ Tucker grunts ]

Tucker: Hey. Good morning, mrs. Ashley abbott mccall. How does that sound?

Ashley: I made a huge mistake.

Jack: What is this?

Diane: I thought I’d surprise you with a nice breakfast before we head off to the office.

Jack: Well, lovely. Thank you, um, what exactly are we celebrating?

Diane: It’s our two-week anniversary.

Jack: Oh, that long?

Diane: Oh, yes. It feels like forever, doesn’t it?

Jack: And forever sounds pretty good right now. So, what have we got? What is this?

Diane: Further proof of just how much I love you.

[ Sighs ]

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

[ Diane sighs ]

Jack: This looks like a pre-nup.

Diane: Well, technically, since we’re already married, it’s a, um, it’s a post-nuptial agreement.

Jack: I don’t understand.

Diane: Well, we got married so quickly that we really didn’t have time to discuss all of this, so I had michael draft it before he left town.

Jack: Well, you have michael tear it up right now.

Diane: Jack.

Jack: We don’t need this. This implies that I don’t trust you, and I do, unconditionally.

Diane: I know. And I love you for that. But this has been hanging over my head since even before we got married.

Jack: Why?

Diane: Why? Because everybody thinks that I came into this relationship with some grand scheme to get my hands on jabot and the family fortune. Especially your sister.

Jack: To hell with them and to hell with her. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

Diane: Well, I think I do. And I think this would shut everyone up once and for all and– and give ashley one less excuse to have a problem with us.

Jack: I– I– I– it doesn’t feel right. It seems like we’re sending the message that our marriage is conditional when nothing could be farther from the truth.

Diane: No, we’re sending a message that I love you and that I married you for all the right reasons. Jack, if, god forbid, anything happened to break us apart–

Jack: Oh, don’t– don’t even think it.

Diane: Well, I– I don’t want to think about that, but people are going to say it, and this would prove to them that I did marry you for the right reasons and that I was walking away from this relationship with what I brought into it and nothing more.

Tucker: Is this a joke?

Ashley: I’m not laughing.

Tucker: Yeah.

[ Tucker chuckles ] We got married yesterday, did we not? I thought we had a magical evening.

Ashley: So magical that you snuck off in the middle of the night?

Tucker: Oh. Yeah. I was restless. I couldn’t sleep.

Ashley: So, where’d you go?

Tucker: To the bar for a drink.

Ashley: Did you run into anybody there?

Tucker: Is this an interrogation?

Ashley: It’s just a question, tucker.

Tucker: I went to the bar alone.

Ashley: You want to try that again?

Tucker: What is it you think you know, ashley?

Ashley: I know that you went down to the bar, and you had a drink with nate and then you ended up in audra’s room.

Billy: Hey. How’s everybody’s morning going? That good, huh?

Chelsea: Uh, connor had a bad night. He hasn’t been sleeping well the past few days.

Billy: Oh, is that right? You– you having some nightmares? Yeah, I have nightmares too. It screws up my whole next day. You know, I got a few things that I like to kind of work on or– or try to try and make myself feel better. I can share a few of my tricks if– if you don’t mind. Of course, if your mom doesn’t mind.

Chelsea: I think connor would rather talk to anybody other than his mom right now. So, by all means.

Billy: What do you say? Yeah? Okay.

Chelsea: You know what, um, I’m gonna go get you a snack.

Billy: So, why don’t you tell me a little bit about these nightmares?

Connor: You’ll just think it’s stupid.

Billy: Oh, I guarantee you, I won’T. Trust me. My dreams are very stupid. Much, much stupider than yours.

[ Connor sighs ]

Connor: I was on this boat in the middle of the ocean, and I fell off. It was night, so I couldn’t see anything except for a light on the boat. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get to it. It just kept getting farther away.

Billy: Hmm, were you sinking in the water too?

Connor: Yeah.

Billy: No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t get to the surface and the light just got further and further away?

Connor: You’ve had that dream too?

Billy: Yeah, I have. And, uh, yeah, before you know it, you find yourself in the middle of somewhere where you’ve never been before and– and you’re– you’re scared, and you’re confused.

Connor: Then what happens?

Billy: Then I wake up… still scared… but I realize that I’m home in my own bed, and that everything’s okay.

Connor: But what if everything doesn’t feel okay? What if everything is just… really, really bad?

Billy: You gotta look at your life, and you gotta think about why you feel that way. And then you gotta talk to someone. Like you’re doing right now.

Adam: What exactly did my father say about the job?

Sally: Mm, just that he changed his mind about having a design division at newman because he needed to focus on your company. More specifically, he needed to put all of his energy into keeping you and nick in line.

[ Adam scoffs ]

Adam: Damn him.

Sally: Yeah, so whatever you did to disappoint him or piss him off, I am now out of a job.

Adam: I’m sorry, sally.

Sally: Yeah, me too.

Adam: Okay, his jerking you around like this is unfair, and I’m gonna do everything I can to fix it.

Sally: Look, adam, I don’t even know if you can fix this, okay? Victor did not give off a vibe at all that this was negotiable. In fact, he specifically said there will never be a design division in newman.

Adam: Wait…

Sally: I don’t know. Honestly, I– I just felt like I was some small part of a bigger plan.

Adam: What do you mean?

Sally: I don’t know. I just got the feeling that there was more going on with victor than just keeping people in line. But clearly he doesn’t feel the need to keep an eye on me anymore, that’s for sure. Rsv is in for a surprise.

Jack: I can’t do this.

Diane: Jack, please.

Jack: I hear everything that you’re saying, I understand how you think this is important. It’s not fair. I love you. I trust you. I know how much you’ve changed. I know there are no ulterior motives. Isn’t that enough?

Diane: All right, let’s be honest. Only you and kyle have accepted me since I’ve come back.

Jack: And michael.

Diane: Oh, a whole three people.

Jack: Like I said earlier, to hell with the rest of them.

Diane: Yeah, but that’s easier for you to say than– than it is for me to live with. I hear the gossip. Okay? I see how people look at me when I walk into a room, and I just want it to stop. That’s all. I– I– god knows, I– I have earned their doubts about me, but this document would erase all that. And it would show everyone that all I want… all I’ve ever wanted… is your love.

Jack: You have that. Look, this is gonna convince some people, yes, but I wouldn’t count on it convincing ashley.

Tucker: What, did you follow me last night?

Ashley: I was looking for you. And then I found you, and so I followed you.

Tucker: Okay. I went to the bar for a drink.

Ashley: How did you end up in audra’s room, tucker?

Tucker: Not for the reason I’m sure you think.

Ashley: What is that reason? Why were you there?

Tucker: Okay, it’s probably time I come clean with you about this.

Ashley: Good idea.

Tucker: I’m sorry that I haven’t before. Um… well, first of all, kyle– honey, listen to me. Kyle was in audra’s room the entire time I was there. If you’re questioning me, give him a call. Come here.

[ Ashley sobs ] Sit down. Okay. Here’s the truth. A few years ago… one of the major artists signed to the mccall label got involved with an underage girl.

Ashley: Oh, my god.

Tucker: I was not in charge of the company at that time, but I knew if it came out, it would sink it.

Ashley: So, you covered it up.

Tucker: Yes, I told– well, no. I told audra to fix it and she did. Uh, but recently adam newman found some old emails regarding it and used them to blackmail audra, so he could get his hands on newman media.

Ashley: How did adam get involved in all of this?

Tucker: Oh, god, it’s so complicated. Phyllis– phyllis asked him to help get me off her back. But it’s been handled. Okay?

Ashley: Handled, like?

Tucker: Well, no more emails and no more blackmail, that kind of thing.

Ashley: Okay. All right, that’s good. Hold on a second. If I hadn’t asked you, would you have ever told me this?

Billy: So, how’s school?

Connor: I hate it.

Billy: How come?

Connor: I don’t have any friends. Except for johnny. Now he and katie are going to another school in the fall, so I won’t have anybody.

Billy: Yeah. Yeah, that’s tough. I’m sorry about that.

Connor: And then I thought I was going to have a baby sister. It’s just– nothing is good. Nothing is right. I don’t wanna be here anymore. I don’t want to go back to walnut grove.

Billy: Well, if it’s just about the school then, you know, that could be fixed. You can talk to your mom and dad about that. You can find a school that you like.

Connor: Yeah, but anywhere else I go, I’d still be the weird kid with the disturbed mom and a dad who’s always getting into trouble. And when I try to defend them…

Billy: What?

Connor: Nothing.

Billy: Are you being bullied? Look, I know it’s tough to talk about this kind of stuff, but it’s helpful. If you just keep it inside, it gets– it gets bottled up and you end up exploding.

Connor: I hate that I feel this way. But I don’t want to tell my mom because I don’t want her to worry about me. She may not be able to handle it and she’ll be the way she was.

Billy: Connor, your mom is stronger than you think. She really is. And I promise you the most important thing in her whole world is you making sure that you feel strong, that you’re happy. That’s her number one priority, I promise you that.

Connor: I guess so.

Billy: No, I know so. And you gotta let the people that love you know how you feel. Okay, and it’s important and I promise you, they’re not gonna let you down.

Connor: I’m tired.

Billy: Okay. Why don’t you go upstairs and… take a little nap, maybe get some rest.

Connor: Thanks.

Billy: Any time. Hey, connor, uh, went upstairs. He was feeling a little tired.

Chelsea: Okay, um–

Billy: Thank you.

Chelsea: Did he open up to you?

Billy: Yeah. Yeah, a little bit. I feel like we had a good talk. I think.

Chelsea: And?

Billy: Sounds like he’s being bullied at school. He doesn’t want to go back.

[ Chelsea sighs ]

Chelsea: Okay, well, uh, we’ll switch schools.

Billy: Yeah, it’s not just that, um… this is kind of tough, chels, but it sounds like it has to do with you and adam. He feels like he has to defend you and, uh, and you know, kids can be cruel.

[ Chelsea sighs ]

Chelsea: Well, that breaks my heart.

Billy: I know. Hey, you know, I didn’t– I didn’t tell you that to make you feel bad, obviously. I just think it’s important that you know.

Chelsea: Of course, yeah, of course. Thank you for talking to him.

Billy: I don’t want to speak out of turn, but you and I both know that feeling of hopelessness… and I’m afraid that connor’s headed in that direction.

Adam: Well, since I’m responsible for getting you caught up in his games, the least I can do is offer you a job, again.

Sally: Adam, no.

Adam: Come on, it’s not charity. I already told you what an incredible asset you would be to the new company, sally

Sally: Adam, did you not hear anything I said earlier? Us working together again, it’s never gonna happen for so many reasons. I am not reconsidering. Okay? And since you’ve already blown your chance at newman, you don’t really need me.

Postmenopausal women with hr+ her2-

Chelsea: I mean, it’s not like we haven’t tried to get connor help. But every time we suggest he talk to someone else, he just shuts down.

Billy: Yeah, no, it’s the worst feeling in the world knowing that your kid is hurting and doesn’t feel like there’s anything you can do to fix it.

Chelsea: Oh, sorry.

Billy: It’s okay.

Chelsea: Hey, mom, everything okay? He did what? No, no, I’m glad you called me. Um, I’ll take care of it, if he calls you back just… okay, thank you. Thank you so much.

[ Chelsea scoffs ]

Billy: What is it?

Chelsea: Connor just went upstairs and called anita and asked her if he could move in with her for a while.

[ Chelsea scoffs ] Clearly, he wants to get away from genoa city. Which makes me think he wants to get away from me too.

Diane: I don’t think you should assume how ashley would react to you signing the post-nup.

Jack: She’s my sister, I know how her mind works, honey, she’s gonna look for catches and loopholes.

Diane: Yeah, but there aren’t any loopholes. It says straight up that if something goes wrong with the marriage, I walk away with nothing from you. What would her argument be then?

Jack: I’m sure she’d find some argument.

Diane: Look, ashley thinks that I wanted to marry you so that I could be the queen to your king, and I could get all the money and all the power while you signing this document puts a lie to that. And it also might go a little way into healing the family. At least it could be a start.

Jack: You’re ready to fight for this, aren’t you?

Diane: I’m fighting for us. It’s important for me to make this statement to you. Even though you say you don’t need it, I need it. So, can you just sign it, jack?

[ Diane chuckles ] What are you doing?

Jack: I am sending this to ashley. My way of letting her know what she can do with her suspicions.

Adam: Yes, I should be more grateful. You’re right. As usual.

Sally: Adam, please stop trying to make me feel better.

Adam: Look I– I– I hate that my father did this to you. And I wanna help in any way that I can. If you won’t accept my job offer, then maybe–

Sally: I will be all right. Okay? Really, when– when one door closes, another one smacks you in the ass and– and all that. Unfortunately, I cannot go back to chancellor-winters because they moved on to another firm whenever they found out about your father’s offer. A firm, actually, that your father recommended.

Adam: I’m really sorry.

Sally: Yeah, me too. Guess chloe and i just have to start back at square one. Get more clients or at least one client… more cold calls, more pitch decks. Super fun. Really, though, I’m gonna be fine. I always land on my feet.

[ Sally sighs ] I just can’t help wondering if this was all a tease. Victor just showing how in control of everything he is just because he can.

Adam: I’m not saying that he isn’t capable of that, but I don’t think so. This is all about me. Making sure that I know my place.

Tucker: I would have told you definitely, eventually.

[ Ashley chuckles ]

Ashley: Eventually? That’s kind of vague.

Tucker: I think I would have told you when I felt the timing was right. The timing has not been right, I’ve been thinking about our wedding, I’ve been thinking about us. I did not want to be distracted by some long ago mess that had already been resolved.

Ashley: Okay. Listen, I’m not thrilled about this mess. Underage girls. That’s so disgusting.

Tucker: I know, it is totally disgusting. And, like I said, I knew nothing about it till the guy went to jail. And the cover up was engineered by the mccall pr team who I fired, every one of them, when I found out what they’d done. So, audra was really just covering up the cover. And I just felt like she had to. I mean, can you imagine what it could have done had it come out? Right? You can appreciate that.

Ashley: I appreciate that, yeah, but you’re not even heading up mccall–

Tucker: But now I’m doing our thing. We’re starting our venture. I don’t think it would be a very good look if it came out just as we’re beginning.

Ashley: So, you did it to protect me?

Tucker: Yes, I did it–

[ Both laugh ]

Ashley: Okay.

Tucker: I did it all to protect you and to just give us one less battle to fight. I think we’ve had enough, don’t you?

Ashley: Yeah. What?

Tucker: What now?

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: “Attached is a copy of our post-nuptial agreement to dispel any– any doubts about diane. Love, jack.” Excellent. Tide is busting laundry’s biggest myth…

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. With nurtec odt, I can treat a migraine

Diane: Are we toasting the post-nup?

Jack: Nope. I’m still not sure it’s the right thing, but… your argument was so passionate, I concede.

Diane: Thank you.

Jack: No, I want to toast to my beautiful wife. And a life together that is filled with the joy and happiness we feel right now.

Diane: I’ll drink to that. Hm. My turn. I would also like to toast to the family finally not being at war with each other. So, here’s to abbott family unity. What, you don’t like my toast?

Jack: No, no, I– I– I love your toast, diane. I just want it to be true.

Diane: I think we’re close to turning a corner. I– I really do.

Jack: Oh, god, I hope you’re right.

Diane: What more can ashley want? She married tucker, she took her share of jabot, and she’s starting a new business. What is possibly left for her to fight about?

Ashley: Hmm. Did you find a loophole?

Tucker: Not yet.

Ashley: Well, I’m sure diane has found some way to weasel the abbott fortune out of jack’s hands.

Tucker: I don’t know. It looks like a pretty standard agreement to me. If the marriage ends.

Ashley: When the marriage ends.

Tucker: When the marriage ends, diane pretty much gets whatever she came in with, no more.

Ashley: Believe that when I see it.

Tucker: I don’t know. Maybe jack’s learned his lesson.

Ashley: Thanks to me?

Tucker: Yes, you’ve been hammering away at him for so long about how dangerous diane is, maybe he has found himself an escape clause.

Ashley: It’s very neat and tidy though, don’t you think?

Tucker: I see, you don’t buy it.

Ashley: I don’t know, why now? Who signs a post-nup? Why did jack change his mind now?

Chelsea: Connor’s gone.

Billy: What do you mean?

Chelsea: What, he’s– he’s not in the apartment. His backpack is gone… and so were some of his clothes.

Sally: Connor. What’s going on? It’s been a while. I’m jonathan lawson

Chelsea: Yes, I– I know, I just called, but my son is missing, and I’m terrified, so– okay, I’d appreciate that, thank you. Did connor call you?

Adam: No.

Chelsea: Oh, my god. Oh, my god.

Adam: Chelsea–

Chelsea: Adam, I called everybody I know nobody’s seen him.

Billy: Chelsea, it’s gonna be okay.

Adam: Look, we will find him, okay? He couldn’t have gone far.

Chelsea: What if something’s happened to him, adam?

Adam: Don’t think like that, okay, he’s gonna be okay.

Chelsea: Oh, my god.

Chance: Hey, nothing yet.

Adam: Did you check the bus station?

Chance: Yeah, we covered every possible route out of town. I don’t think connor’s gotten that far.

Chelsea: Why would he do this? Why would he run away?

Billy: I don’t know. Listen, maybe this is a cry for help, okay? And– and he didn’t know anyone else to go to.

Connor: My dad told me about the baby. I’m really sorry.

Sally: I am too.

Connor: Are you okay?

Sally: Yeah, it’s been sad and hard but it gets better every day. What about you?

Connor: I’m okay.

Sally: Where are you off to?

Connor: Just going to a friend’s house. No big deal.

Sally: It’s pretty hot today, isn’t it?

Connor: Yeah, kinda.

Sally: You know, I would really like some water. There is a kiosk right over there. Would you mind maybe going to get me one and– here, get one for yourself too, please?

Connor: Okay.

Sally: Thank you. Adam. Hi, it’s me. Did you give connor permission to go to a friend’s house on his own?

Tucker: You know what I think?

Ashley: I think I’m afraid to ask.

Tucker: I think we need to get out of the abbott house. Like, right now.

Ashley: Where do you wanna go?

Tucker: Literally anywhere you want. I’m serious. I love you so much. I just– I’m ready to start a whole new chapter with you. We just got married, and we live with your brother. I think we can do better. I think we can afford our own place and I think it should be fantastic. What do you think?

Jack: Hey, billy, I got your text, uh, ashley seems to be laying low at the moment. I was hoping that between the marriage and my gift of giving her her share of jabot might calm the waters, but this might just be the calm before the storm. Anyway, I want to both be on the same page. I’ll see you at the office.

[ Diane sighs ]

Diane: So much for my toast to abbott family unity.

Jack: Honey, I know my sister. I know how her mind works. As much as I’d like to think otherwise, I don’t think this is over.

Diane: All right, fine. Could we maybe enjoy at least five minutes of this nice morning together?

Jack: How about ten?

Diane: Okay. When it comes to your hair, ingredients matter.

Adam: Okay, sounds good. All right, we’ll see you soon. Connor is with sally.

Chelsea: Oh! Thank god. Where? Is he all right?

Adam: Yes, they’re okay, they’re in the park. She’s gonna talk to him, she’s gonna convince him to come home.

Chelsea: Okay, well, I– I need to see him.

Adam: Chels, let’s just– let’s give her a little time.

Chelsea: Oh, my god. Well, I– I mean, I need to talk to connor. I need to understand why he wanted to run away.

Billy: Of course, but I– I think adam’s right. Just a little bit of space will be good for him right now.

Chelsea: Right, right, but–

Billy: Hey, he’s gonna be all right, okay? He’s safe and so are you.

Sally: Thank you. This really hit the spot.

Connor: Are you okay now? Because I have to head over to my friend’S.

Sally: Um, I– would you mind hanging out with me a little longer? Please? I just– I miss you and– and I want to catch up. What’s been going on with you these days?

Connor: Nothing much. Just, you know… stuff.

Sally: What kind of stuff? Mm. Don’t want to talk about it, I see.

Connor: Nothing to talk about.

Sally: I get it. I do. Sometimes it’s hard to talk about things. I remember when people first started asking me about the baby. I– I didn’t want to go there. I didn’t even want to think about it. You know, but sometimes… if you’re hurt… or sad or angry or… you know, just confused about things, it really does help to talk to people. I have a feeling you have a lot on your mind. Am I wrong about that?

Would you let me walk you back there?

Ashley: Hey.

Jack: Oh, no, is the honeymoon already over?

Ashley: Hardly, we came by to pick up our stuff.

Tucker: Yes, as much fun as this has been, I think it’s time for us to move on, so if you wouldn’t mind forwarding any mail we get to the club till we find a place.

Ashley: And regarding that post-nup, you sent me, uh, how much begging did you have to do to get diane to agree to it?

Diane: Actually, it was my idea.

Ashley: Really?

Jack: Yeah, she’s telling the truth. I didn’t want to sign it, but she insisted. Michael baldwin drew it up. Ask him.

Diane: Yeah. Hey, congrats again.

Ashley: Do you buy any of that?

Tucker: Actually, I do. It might be time for us to accept the idea that she genuinely loves him, and it’s time for all this to end.

Ashley: I don’t know.

Adam: Hey, buddy.

Chelsea: Oh, connor. Oh, my god. Oh, we were so worried.

Connor: Sorry.

Adam: Look, whatever it is, buddy, we’re here to help.

Connor: I don’t wanna be here. I don’t wanna go back to walnut grove. I wanna go see grandma and go to school near her. I hate this town. Please don’t make me stay.

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless.

Kyle: This feels like kind of a test. And your questions aren’t really about me. They’re about audra.

Jill: Well, you’re gonna have your plate full with the business and– and crimson lights.

Sharon: Which is why I asked you to come over today.

Heather: I didn’t share my plans right away because I wasn’t sure how you’d really feel about me sticking around town.

Daniel: I think it’s fantastic.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Please tell me everyone’s okay. Everyone’s okay.

[ Sighing ] Oh, my god. Well, uh, come in. Uh, d-donna’s asleep, you know. I mean, she’s — she’s been asleep for a while. I figured. And here you are? Here I am. You must want a favor. Tracy: [ Groans ] Whoever you are, go away.

[ Exhales sharply ] I was under the impression that things were good between us. They were. They are. But not good enough for you to invite me over for a family gathering? It wasn’t a family gathering. Except for one sister, it was. It’s — kristina, it’s getting really late, okay, and tj’s going to be getting back — tj’s the one who told me about your sushi party, the one you had for our mother, our sister, and your mother-in-law. But, somehow, I don’t know, I guess my invitation got, what, lost in the mail? God, that terrible day is over. You will not believe what happened to me tonight. Oh, yeah? Try me. Okay. Okay.

[ Cellphone ringing ] You have falconeri. You checked the surrounding areas, too? So valentin cassadine’s car never went into the elq parking lot the night anna devane’s townhouse burned down? Okay. Why are you lying to anna?

[ Keypad beeps ] Well, it’s a lot nicer than the place we stayed last night. I’m sorry the metro court was booked, but it’s available now, and you can have it as long as you want to. I guess this is home. No, it’s not home. It’s just temporary. As far as hotels go, it’s pretty comfortable. You should know. You’ve stayed in plenty of hotels. Right, but then I always had a home to go back to. And now I don’T. Oh. Hey, let me get that. It’s okay. Ah, thanks. Hey.

[ Sighs ] Dad, are you okay? Yeah, fine. Just — just — just tired and clumsy. [ Chuckles ] Yeah. Is that why you fell? Or was it something else? Yes, something else. Something awful. Something awful? Yeah. Are you sick? Have you, uh — have you been diagnosed? Yes. Well, maybe I’ll, uh — I’ll be able to help. Um… can you tell me what it is? Als.

Evening. Oh, god. It would have to be you. Huh. Never took you for someone who was a hard partier. Would you stop talking and just leave? Oh. Ohh. Ha. You are drunk as a skunk. No. I’m not drunk. I’m not drunk. I just — I just — oh, I so wish this room would stop spinning. I don’t even know what I bought. What is wrong with me? Your house burned down. Yeah, but I’ve been through worse. Come on. I know. That’s true. And I wasn’t in any danger. You know, I was out running. And thank god charlotte wasn’t there. She was with dante and sam, and you were at elq. And I have to get that into my head, that I have a lot to be thankful for and I need to just move on. You’re not a machine, darling. You’ve lost your house. It was a violation. And we can be grateful that no one was killed. But you don’t have to pretend that losing your house doesn’t hurt. It really does. I’m with you. You’re going to get through this. We’re going to get through this together. And we will find who did this to you, and we will stop them from hurting you again. You trust me? Look, if this is about avery having another sleepover, you know she’s welcome any time. No, the whole avery situation’s under control. Oh. Well, great. I’m sure ava is relieved. She was really worried about something. Yeah. I’m not here for a favor. Uh, actually, uh, I’m in a position to do you a favor. No, thank you. Important? Uh, no, you know, nothing that can’t wait. But there is something that can’t wait. What’s that? This. Oh. You know, no matter what kind of day I have, I know, when I get to see you, everything’s going to be okay. Hey, you stole my line. Well, it was my line, ’cause I just said it. Well, I was going to say, when I have a day where I feel like I’m not going to be able to sleep at night, I think about coming here and getting into bed with you and turning down the lights… yeah? …And everything just sort of melts away. Well, maybe we can, you know, talk a little bit before we turn out the lights. You go first. No, you go first. No. Well, I’ll rock, paper, scissors you for it. Oh, my god. Are you 12? I’m 12 1/2. Okay.

[ Groans ] Boom. Got me. I did. [ Laughs ] Grr! And the floor is yours. Okay. My crazy day. Where do I start? Molly and kristina, they are headed for world war iii. Molly: This is so typical. You not inviting me to something? Yeah, I agree. No, your reaction. I’m not allowed to have a dinner party and invite who I want? Molly, you invited everyone in the family but me. Okay, fine, kristina, I’ll say it. You weren’t invited. Because in spite of what you always think, it wasn’t about you. It was about tj and me. I wanted to share the good news with mom and sam and jordan that we found a surrogate. Lou gehrig’s disease. Yeah. Hey, you know, there are — there are other conditions that have the same — similar early symptoms. I mean, a-are you — are you certain? Yes. When I told you that I was going to milwaukee to do a seminar, I was actually in rochester at the mayo clinic. They did extensive testing, and the results were conclusive. That trip, that was more than six months ago. Have you… you’ve known all this time? I’m so sorry, son. I… couldn’t bring myself to tell you. Oh, dad, why not?

[ Sighs ] Oh, you read my mind. So, what are we going to toast to? I have no idea. Alright, then. To us. To our future together, which can only get less complicated and less dangerous. I’d like to believe that.

[ Glasses clink ] Mmm. You may not believe it now, but we do have a lot to be grateful for. Look, I-I promise I’m not just going to keep wallowing in self-pity. I-I promise. Just — it’s not self-pity. You’ve been traumatized. You’re dealing with some very powerful emotions, but you’re going to work through them. You will. And we’re going to find out who’s behind this. Yes. In the meantime, I have something to talk to you about that’s important. Alright. I’m going to buy season tickets to the ballet in new york. Charlotte still loves dance. I know you do, too. So why don’t I buy three tickets? You can join us. Uh, my house just burned to the ground, and someone is trying to kill me. I — and you’re talking about “swan lake”? I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than spend time with the two women I love most in this world. And I like “swan lake.” I like it, too.

[ Knock on door ] Wait. Who is that? Hello, martin.

[ Chuckles ] Evening. It is a bit late for a business call. Whatever this is, I’m going to deal with it quickly. Leo says a guy like me needs 15 1/2 cups of water a day. Leo’s a very smart kid. Ohh. I can’t tell you how grateful I am he’s not here now. You don’t seem very experienced with this sort of thing. If, by that, you mean I don’t seem like someone who gets drunk all the time, I didn’t get drunk this time. You didn’t get drunk? No. I did not. Well, I did, but…

[ Sighs ] …It was not my fault. Somebody insisted on putting, uh, too much alcohol in those mai tais at the metro court pool. Ugh. Oh. Some old bartender trying to loosen you up for your dough? No, actually, it was not some old bartender trying to loosen me up. It was your daughter. Not that you even acknowledge you have one. Ohh. I don’t understand. You… I don’t understand. You think I couldn’t handle it? No, it wasn’t you. It wasn’t you. It was me. After all these years, we were finally getting to spend time together as a family. You, your brother, violet, and me. It was so special. It is. The big stuff, you know, christmas and — and — and halloween with violet, and little things like me bringing over muffins from eckert’s or showing violet videos of her uncle chase singing. Dad, that wouldn’t have changed. Of course it would have. And it will. It already has. ‘Cause when I look at you, I can see it in your eyes. You know what this disease does. You know I’m dying. You’re not even going to listen to me? You don’t listen to me! Did you not hear me at the police station? That was different, because i was there for ned, to help ned. You were there, so I thought I’d help you. Yeah, you showed up, and you decided that I needed help. You didn’t listen to me. And when you turned me down, you spent the night there. Yeah, and I was fine with that, okay? I can take care of myself. Oh, I know you can. Come on, sonny. Look, it — it’s taken a while, but — but we’re both moving on, right? I mean, you know I respect you. You respect me. We both want each other to be happy. Mm-hmm. And as you can see, there is no for sale sign in the front yard, because kelly’s is doing great. Business is doing fine. I’m going to take care of myself on my own. So whatever your favor is, no, thank you. I don’t want it. Where are you going?

So why didn’t molly invite her? Because she was revealing her big news that her and tj had found a surrogate and that she was perfect. And I think that molly didn’t want to hurt kristina’s feelings. Well, I understand that. I mean, it is molly’s decision. No, I-i understand that, too. But I also understand kristina being hurt. Right. You — you know, I’m — I’m sorry. For what? I shouldn’t be going on about this with you. For what? Because — what? What are you talking about? It’s fine. Because of the situation that you and lulu had with maxie, and I just — hey, wait, stop. It’s okay. That was a long time ago. Tj and molly just got to figure out and realize that that’s a big decision. Right? They can’t take this lightly. So you think that molly is making the right choice by not having kristina be the surrogate? That’s great. I-I didn’t even realize you had started interviewing surrogates yet. We wanted to keep it quiet. Yeah, got that. I’m sure mom and sam and jordan were thrilled to hear that news. They seem very happy for us. This is what we want, kristina. I know it is. I know. And the woman we found is perfect, and she’s ready to start the process right away. That’S… very exciting, molly. It is. After everything we’ve gone through, there’s still a good chance that tj and i could have a child within the next year. I’m happy you’re so happy. I am. And I-I planned on telling you first thing tomorrow. Right, just not tonight with the rest of the family. I wanted it to be a happy occasion. And I knew mom, sam, and jordan would be happy for us. And I wouldn’t? I would have spoiled that? I don’t know. Molly. We’ve been getting along so well, but I-I didn’t want to take the chance that tonight would turn into a discussion of why we turned to a surrogate instead of you. Okay, well, now that everyone’s gone, and since you brought it up, why are you paying a stranger to have your baby when I was willing to do it? Six months, dad. We could have done so many things together. The last six months have been perfect. What I didn’t want was to be a burden to you or have you spend time with me out of some sense of obligation. That wouldn’t have happened. Of course it would. I know you and chase, son. I’m so proud of both of you. And you and I finally had the time to really get to know each other. That has meant everything to me. I’m the one who’s sorry here. I’m the one for — sorry for costing us all that time. No, no, there’s no need to rehash that now. Getting to know you and to understand and appreciate your incredible accomplishments over the years has been so rewarding for me. You and your brother make it almost impossible for me not to become one of those obnoxious bragging fathers. I’m one of those, too, when it comes to violet. Violet. What a gift she is. Every single moment I spend with my granddaughter is better than I ever imagined. Yeah, well, she pretty much thinks her grandfather is the greatest guy in the world. How is she going to feel when all I can do is sit and stare at her, when I can’t even speak her name? So, why would brook lynn give you too much booze? No, she’s up to something. And I should have known the minute I saw the fire eater. Fire eater? It was a luau, with tiki torches and leis. Wow. Sounds like fun. Mm-hmm.

You would think so. I should have gone right down to the lobby and ordered a car. Sounds like maybe you had a lot of fun. Oh, my god. That’S… what’s wrong with that? …All you ever think of, having fun and being eddie maine. Yeah. Anything to avoid facing the reality of your life. Do you understand this is critical? I do. Will you act like it, please? You know something? My fee, exorbitant as it is, grants you 24-hour access. It does not give you or any other client the right to abuse me. Yeah. Point taken. I got a lot on the line. I understand. And, yes, that’s hot off the wire. Okay, this looks good. Thank you. You’re welcome, though why you insisted on doing this tonight instead of first thing tomorrow morning makes no sense to me. Valentin: Good night. Oh, was that important? Not really. Martin can worry about anything. Why he insisted on coming by in the middle of the night is beyond me.

You want me to face the reality of my life? Which means you want me to ride around in limousines and pretend to be some hotshot, tax-dodging executive? It’s a start. Or you could just… stop singing on street corners, running around all night to sleazy bars, getting arrested for fighting. Is that embarrassing you somehow? No, it’s embarrassing to the whole family. So it’s better just to shut eddie up? You’re not eddie. And you want to prove that by having someone strap me down to a table and have electricity shot through my head. What? I’m onto you, lady. I overheard you tell olivia that you want me committed. I don’t know if you know this, but drew is in solitary confinement. I know. Of course you know. You’re protecting him, yeah. Look, I’m worried about him, sonny. I’m really worried about him. I know he went through worse in crete, but still. He’s been through a lot. He’s going to make it through this. Do you think you can get a message to him? I might be able to do better than that. You have to give violet more credit, dad. She constantly surprises me with how much she understands. I hope you’re right, son. What are the doctors telling you in terms of prognosis? Luckily, I was, uh, still in the first stage when I went to the mayo clinic. Uh, muscle cramps and occasional difficulty walking. And now? It’s progressed. My hands cramp more frequently than before. What happened tonight? I was trying to help violet make some bracelets. I-I can barely hold onto the thread. I don’t think she noticed. But then she got up to go get some clasps in her bedroom, and I-I tried to stand up to shake out my hands, and that’s when I-I fell. Thank god she wasn’t here to see it. But she came back in. Yeah. I told her I tripped over the coffee table, but I-I know she — she had to watch me struggle to get up here on the couch. Oh, dad. I know, son. I know. I can’t hide my disease any longer. And I’m so ashamed about tonight. I am so glad I didn’t invite you tonight. Oh, great. That, you’ve made perfectly clear. Molly, just — just answer the question, okay? Why would you rather a stranger have your baby as your surrogate than your own sister who offered to do this for you months ago? Because with a surrogate, we sign a legal, binding document. I know how it works. She rents out her womb and — and throws in an egg at a discount. Both sides benefit, kristina. She gets money she needs for her family, and we get the child we want. The child that you want. There it is. As opposed to the child I am offering to give you that you clearly do not want! The surrogate is performing a service, kristina, not racing around town working on some pie-in-the-sky project… hey. …And letting everyone know how she’s saving her poor sister from her own infertility! Molly, if you have a stranger as your surrogate, you’re not even going to be related to the baby! I’m sorry. I shouldn’t put you on the spot like that. It’s just — it’s a really confusing situation. I get it. And stop apologizing, or I’ll rock, paper, scissors you all night long.

[ Chuckling ] Okay. It’s a personal thing for molly and tj, that’s all. And I’m sure kristina had the best of intentions when she offered to be their surrogate. No, I understand that. But kristina and molly, they just, you know, they haven’t been close lately. You know, I know you, like, love your sisters, and you want to fix all sorts of things for them all the time. I know what you’re gonna say. But maybe this one — do you? Like, maybe this time — I should let them work it out themselves. Maybe. Yeah, I don’t know. Maybe. You’re right. Okay. Now it’s your turn. Spill. Alright, well — no, mm — no, you spill. It was just kind of a, you know, regular kind of weird day. And then cody shows up at the station while gladys is there filing a restraining order against cody on sasha’s behalf. Cody loses his mind completely in the middle of the squad room, saying that gladys is the one having sasha drugged. He lost it. He went crazy. Me and mac had to restrain him. Wait, did you have to arrest cody? No, not this time. But those two, they, like, hate each other, eh? Cody and gladys? Yeah, it’s weird. Definitely. Yeah. You know, the whole time this is happening, I’m investigating anna’s townhouse burning down. Which reminds me… did you leave me any hot water? I feel like, uh, metro court has an unlimited supply. Give me five minutes. Okay.

[ Water running ]

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hello, dante. Anna, hey. I’m sorry to call so late. There’s just something I thought you should know. Alright. I had one of our tech guys look at the elq security footage from the night your house burned. Valentin’s car never exited or entered the elq parking garage. I had them check the surrounding areas to see if the car was parked somewhere else, too, and I got nothing. I see. You also told me that — that the reason he went to elq was because there was a water main break and he was worried about the computer mainframe being ruined. That’s right. There wasn’t a water main break. Thanks for that information, dante.

Yes, I, uh — I did ask olivia to commit you. Because I embarrass you? Because this can’t go on. And I thought maybe, just maybe, if you were in a hospital, they could help you stop faking this ridiculous — I’m not faking anything! I am eddie maine. And by the way, I didn’t ask to be in this house. You all want me here. So I’m trying to make you all understand that I can’t choose who I am. I’m eddie maine, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Fine. You’re eddie maine. But i am ned quartermaine’s mother. And I am never going to stop fighting for my son. You have nothing to be ashamed of. No, I do. I do. I’m so selfish to have put your daughter at risk. Violet’s okay. No, I-I shouldn’t have agreed to watch her alone tonight. I — somehow, I convinced myself I’d be okay. And everything turned out okay. But I had no right to take that risk. You know [Sighs] The other night, I-I went to one of those hatchet-throwing places, you know, and I-I did it! And I don’t know, maybe it’s human nature, but I think I — I’ve been trying to convince myself that maybe I could beat this thing, or at least… hold it off. But that’s just denial. And I need to stop that before I put someone else in danger like I did violet tonight. Hey. Hey. This is happening to you. It’s happening to — you have to figure it out on your own. I need to stop driving. I shouldn’t have been driving this long. Okay, so stop driving. No one’s going to judge you for how you’ve handled this so far, dad. No one’s going to judge you, alright? I just — I wish you would have had someone to talk to, someone besides your doctor. Dealing with this all on your own all this time must have been hell. Alexis knows. Alexis knows?

[ Sighs ] She was snooping around, and — and we got in a big argument, and I collapsed, and I-I had to tell her. But I couldn’t bring myself to tell you, because I didn’t want to see the look on your face that I’m seeing right now. Is this the favor you came over here about? Before you turn me down, hear me out. I’m listening. When I got news of drew’s situation, I did some digging, and I have a connection to someone who can arrange for drew to get out of solitary early. Oh, my god. Sonny… and so, when he’s released, you’ll be able to go see him. Is drew going to owe anybody anything? Absolutely not. What’s this costing you? Well, from the look on your face, I’m, you know, it — it means everything to me. Drew’s going to wonder why the sudden change. Well, when you talk to him, just tell them that there’s no strings attached. It’s just a gift from me. He knows that you’re protecting him. It’s just, you know, I don’t know how he’s going to feel about this. Well, this isn’t a gift to him. This is a gift to you. Are there any stipulations for me if I accept?

[ Sighs ] Oh, no. Looks like your rotten day is still with you. It’s just hitting close to home, this one. And you can’t get into specifics. Well, I can tell you that valentin is being dishonest with anna.

[ Chuckles ] When has valentin ever been honest? You’re right, but it’s weird. Like, I just — I just — I thought he really cared about anna. And she really cares about him. And then he told her all this, like, pretty surprising stuff, you know? Well — but then he lies about where he was the other night. I’m not that surprised about it. I know he does live a complicated life, but who knows what he has going on? Well, I want to know what he’s got going on, ’cause his daughter’s in a room down the hall. You lied to me.

I’m sorry, dad. No, I understand. You’re a doctor. One of the best. You know all about this hideous disease. You know what it’s going to do to me. But I look at you now. You look fine. You look good. That’s what’s so hard to grasp, you know? I-I look in the mirror or I-I’m feeling fine, but… I know this thing is in there somewhere. And I also see — I see — I see the father I grew up with, the man who used to toss me so high in the air, and I was never once afraid that he wouldn’t catch me. I remember that guy, too. As you get older, you try to hang onto that self-image as long as you can. The thought that I’ll be less than that for you, for violet — never less. You’re still that man, and you will always be that man, no matter what happens. Thank you for that. You also need to know I know what you’re facing, dad. There’s no point in trying to tell me no, ’cause I’m going to be by your side every step of the way from here on out. Do what you have to do. But I have one favor to ask. Anything. Help me tell your brother, ’cause I’m afraid this is going to crush him. It will. But we’ll be there for him.

[ Voice breaking ] I love you, dad. I love you, too, son.

[ Crying ] Does fighting for your son mean locking me away somewhere? Stop being so dramatic. If you overheard me say that, then you also heard olivia refuse. And she’s your — s-she has final say. Yeah, but I’ve watched you. You can be very persuasive. What’s to stop you from changing her mind about putting me away? Answer me something. If you are really so worried about us putting you away, why are you still here? Why aren’t you at sonny’s? Sonny is a nice enough guy, but, um… too many goombahs around. And there it is. I knew it. You are in there, ned, somewhere. There’s no strings attached for you, either. But I’m sure that drew’s going to be happy to, you know, get out of that little cell, right? I want to be clear that this is for you. Or not. It’s your decision. You’re unbelievable. Mm-hmm. Yes. You came to the police station the other night, and you were so offended that I wouldn’t let you help me, you came up with a favor you knew I couldn’t turn down. Maybe I was just, you know, being nice. Yeah, okay, yeah, you are. But you still win. Is that a yes? It’s a yes. Please, get drew out of solitary. Alright. Uh, I’ll let you know when it’s done. Okay. Sonny? Yeah. Thank you. You’re welcome. That was mean, even for you, kristina. Okay, it came out wrong. No, no, no, I think you said exactly what you meant. Molly, I d– fine. Okay, you know what? Fine. If we’re saying what we really mean, then why don’t you say what you really mean? You would rather have a baby from a stranger than one from your own sister. Yes. Yes. And, you know, it’s true that I might not be biologically related to the baby, but tj will be. And that baby is going to be created for us as a result of our love for each other. Molly, if i have the baby for you — then it wouldn’t be ours. It would be a gift from my sister, and no one would ever be allowed to forget it. Wow. I guess I really never realized just how selfish and insecure you are. Charlotte is rocco’s sister, so we do need to find a way to get along with valentin. I know. And I’m — I’m glad she’s here staying with us, especially with the — with the threat to anna. Well, yes. Anyone burning down someone’s house is definitely a threat. Right. Any theory on why valentin would lie to anna? No. Not yet. I j– I never really trusted that guy. Well, as much as we don’t trust him, I do believe that valentin loves charlotte. And I don’t think he would ever do anything to hurt her. No, I agree with you. Intentionally, he would not hurt her. And he probably loves anna. But you don’t think anna trusts him? No, and neither can we.
