TV Interview!

Sara Tomko, Alice Wetterlund, Corey Reynolds, Levi Fiehler and Meredith Garretson of "Resident Alien" on Syfy

Interview with Sara Tomko, Alice Wetterlund, Corey Reynolds, Levi Fiehler and Meredith Garretson of “Resident Alien” on Syfy by Suzanne 2/6/24

It’s always wonderful to speak this cast. I love everything about this show, especially the actors and the writers. It’s been great to speak with them the last few years. Unfortunately, I didn’t get an opportunity to speak with Alan Tudyk this time, but it’s fine. I’ve spoken to him several times before.  All of the actors are very kind and enjoy talking about their characters and the show. I know you’ll enjoy this upcoming season 3 as much as I have, and these videos. I can’t wait for you to see them!

I was originally paired with another reporter, Allison Hazzlett-Rose, but she had technical problems. I haven’t edited these videos, so you will hear me just chatting with the actors at the beginning, before we get to the actual questions. It was a lot of fun to have these 10 minutes.

Originally, I was supposed to speak to Elizabeth Bowen (“Deputy Liv Baker”) and Reynolds, but Elizabeth couldn’t make it. Allison was still having technical problems. This meant I had the full 10 minutes with him. It was pure joy, I admit.

Finally, Allison was able to be included in our chat with Sara and Alice. It was an awesome conversation. Both women are so entertaining and love to talk. We had 11 minutes, and the moderator had to cut off the actors because they were running out of time.

Based on the Dark Horse comics, SYFY’s “Resident Alien” follows a crash-landed alien named Harry (Alan Tudyk) whose secret mission is to kill all humans. In season three, Harry is vowing to work with General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) to rid the Earth of the Grey aliens – a task made more difficult when he discovers that the Grey Hybrid Joseph (Enver Gjokaj) has taken a job in town as the new Deputy. Joseph isn’t Harry’s only obstacle – Harry struggles to balance business and his personal life when he falls in love for the first time. Meanwhile, Asta (Sara Tomko) and D’arcy (Alice Wetterlund) move in together and struggle to discover their purpose in the world, Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) continue their quest to find out who killed the Alien Tracker, and Ben (Levi Fiehler) and Kate (Meredith Garretson) are forced to deal with the subconscious repercussions of their alien abductions.

From UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Amblin TV and Dark Horse Entertainment, “Resident Alien” was adapted to television by executive producer Chris Sheridan. Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin TV, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Nastaran Dibai also executive produce.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Someone in a black mask sneaks in to the Horton house.

Paulina is watching TV at home until Chanel shows up at the door with three large bags. Chanel tells Paulina that she brought all her favorites because they are about to have a mother-daughter night that she will never forget. Paulina reminds Chanel that her surgery is in the morning and she’s not really in the mood. Chanel responds that they will just have to get her in the mood as she shows that she got her favorite nail polish, a puzzle, a deck of card, and her favorite junk foods. Chanel presents her with a pair of slippers and calls it girls night.

Jada brings Rafe food and coffee in his office, noting that he’s been busy. Rafe talks about the endless paperwork of an officer-involved shooting. Jada asks how Officer Goldman is doing. Rafe says she’s okay and that he sent her home after her meeting. Rafe says on a positive note, they got a lot of product off the street and were a major thorn in Clyde’s side, so all in all it’s a good day.

Someone enters the door to Harris’s room above the Pub and fires shots with a gun. Kate fires back, wounding the person as they run away. Kate then calls back inside to Lucas, asking if he’s alright.

The masked invader pours gasoline all over the living room of the Horton house, then lights a match and sets the house on fire! The fire alarms go off as Chad and Julie come downstairs to find the house on fire.

At the Bistro, Stefan comes over to Tripp, Wendy, and Ava’s table. Tripp jokes that it’s nice to see Stefan fully clothed. Stefan tells him to forget what he saw. Tripp calls it hard to forget. Ava reminds him that they are respecting boundaries and they are never to talk about that moment again. Ava then goes to step outside to get some fresh air.

Ava goes out to the docks and finds Harris on the ground, bleeding from being shot. Ava rushes to him and checks on him as she begins to panic.

Paulina tells Chanel that she really appreciates this, but questions her being up for a night of fun and games when she’s supposed to be getting married today. They talk about what movie to watch and decide on Bad Boys. Paulina then gets a call from prison and it’s Lani.

Rafe and Jada go over paperwork. Rafe notes that they should have the results of the drug dealer’s autopsy tomorrow morning which will confirm if he fired his weapon and if he had any opioids in his system. Rafe asks about Harris, noting he still doesn’t have his report yet and asks if he’s around.

Ava tries to keep Harris awake, as he flashes back to being shot and Ava pulls out her phone.

Stefan tells Tripp that it’s nobody’s business, so he asks him not to say a word to anyone about what he saw at his place. Tripp assures that he promised Ava that they would respect her boundaries. Tripp then gets a call from Ava, who tells him to get to the loading dock right now as Harris has been shot.

Kate and Lucas check on each other but neither of them were shot as they hug. Roman runs in and asks if they are okay as heard shots from outside. Kate assures they are fine and that she shot whoever it was. Roman orders them to stay there and on the floor as he heads back out.

Chad orders Julie to get Doug and the kids to get out safe while he calls 911. Chad goes to find the fire extinguisher.

Chanel talks to Lani on the phone and promises to text Eli updates as soon as she gets them. Chanel gives the phone back to Paulina to say goodbye before her time is up. Paulina thanks her for calling and says it means so much to her as they hang up. Paulina says it was so good to hear Lani’s voice as that was just what she needed. They wish Lani could be with them for girls’ night. Paulina talks about hoping Lani will be back in Salem soon as they prepare to start the movie.

Doug, Julie, Thomas, and Charlotte escape the Horton house as Doug assures the kids that it’s okay and they are safe now but they worry for Chad still being in the house. Julie then decides to run back in despite Doug’s pleas for her not to.

Roman goes back to Harris’ room and tells Kate and Lucas that he cleared the scene and the shooter is gone. Roman asks if they saw anything. Lucas says it was too dark. Kate says she only saw the gun. Roman is glad she acted fast and scared him off. Lucas acknowledges that Kate saved his life as they hug.

Tripp and Wendy go to the docks. Tripp asks what happened. Ava responds that she doesn’t know as she just found Harris lying there bleeding. Tripp asks if she called 911 but Ava says no, she called him. Tripp instructs Wendy to call 911 and tell them that they have an officer down and need paramedics. Stefan comes out and sees what is happening. Tripp says he need something to stop the bleeding so Ava sends Stefan back in for napkins. Tripp notes that it feels like a single bullet wound to the chest and one to the arm which Wendy repeats on her 911 call. Wendy goes to get the first aid kit from the kitchen as Stefan comes back out. Ava remarks that this wasn’t supposed to happen. Tripp asks what she means by that. Ava says nothing as she flashes back to making a plan with Harris in the interrogation room. Ava says it doesn’t matter now and pleads with Harris not to die.

Paulina and Chanel finish their food. Chanel then gets a call from Johnny. Chanel tells him that he can’t come over because it’s girls night and thanks him for getting the DVDs. Chanel says she loves him and will see him tomorrow as she hangs up. Chanel tells Paulina that Johnny sends his love and wishes her the best for tomorrow’s surgery. Chanel mentions that Johnny is out shopping. Paulina bets he’s getting her a Valentine’s Day surprise. Chanel admits that Johnny is pretty good at surprises.

Roman compliments Kate on her shooting at the gun range while Lucas points out that the shooter was definitely after him. Roman feels they have to tell Harris. Kate complains that Harris said Lucas would be fine and worries about what could’ve happened. Roman points out that Lucas is fine. They then hear police sirens outside.

Rafe and Jada arrive on the docks to find Harris bleeding. Rafe asks for his condition as the paramedics arrive. Tripp informs the paramedics of the situation. Jada orders the other cops to get the area courted off and check with witnesses. Rafe asks what the hell happened. Ava responds that she just came out and found Harris lying in blood. Rafe gets a call and informs Jada that there’s been another shooting at the Brady Pub so he needs her to get there now.

Julie goes back in to the Horton House as Chad is trying to extinguish the fire. Julie yells for him to stop as he can’t put it out and the fire is too big.

Chanel and Paulina play Go Fish with a deck of cards. Paulina tells her how her and Johnny together makes her very happy. Chanel admits she’s a very lucky girl. Paulina calls it wonderful that Chanel found her true love. Paulina asks what it is about Johnny that makes him the one. Chanel tells her that Johnny makes her feel safe, empowered and accepts and respects her for who she is. Chanel adds that he’s fun, makes her laugh, is creative and curious. Chanel loves how honest he is and how he’s strong but also vulnerable. Chanel calls Johnny the whole package, saying they have great chemistry but it’s really so much for that. Paulina then gets a call and is shocked by what she hears. Paulina asks when this happened and if he’s alive. Paulina tells them to keep her posted and hangs up. Paulina then informs Chanel that Harris was shot tonight by an unknown assailant and they are treating him on the scene at the loading docks of the Bistro. Paulina wants to get to the hospital but Chanel reminds her that she has to get ready for her surgery tomorrow and she needs to let the deputy mayor fill in for her on this. Paulina insists on needing to get there but Chanel says the only thing they can do right now for Harris is pray.

Doug worries about Julie and Chad. Thomas wants to go find them but Doug says it’s too dangerous. Chad and Julie then come back out from the house. Doug is relieved as Chad embraces the kids and tells them it’s okay.

Kate tries calling Harris but it goes to voicemail. Jada arrives, so Roman informs her about what happened with the shooter. Jada asks what he looked like but Kate says she couldn’t see much other than he was dressed in black. Jada asks where it happened. Kate says it was right here in Harris’ room so Jada says she needs to get in there but Kate says she can’t which Jada questions. Roman calls it a matter of privacy that he can’t let her in his tenant’s room. Jada states that a crime went down here tonight and Roman knows that she needs to investigate in order to do her job. Roman then reluctantly allows Jada in, where she is shocked to find Lucas. Jada questions this being Lucas’s safehouse. Lucas confirms he’s been there the whole time. Jada points out that she lives right down the hall and had no idea. Roman states that they need to get in touch with Harris to let him know what happened. Jada then reveals that won’t be possible as Harris was shot tonight and they don’t know yet if he’s going to make it.

Tripp and the paramedics work on Harris on the loading docks. Ava repeats that they don’t know what happened as they were all inside. Tripp tries to get Harris to wake up. Rafe questions not hearing any gunshots. Stefan confirms they heard nothing. Ava says she just came out for a break and saw Harris lying there bleeding. Ava says he looked at her for a minute and then he closed his eyes. Tripp announces that Harris doesn’t have a pulse so they prepare the defibrillator.

Paulina complains about Harris clinging to life. Chanel asks if he was shot in the line of duty. Paulina says they don’t know yet but it goes to show that you never know when your moment might be up. Paulina tells Chanel that they need to talk. Paulina starts talking about if anything happens to her during her surgery and reminds her where her key to her safety deposit box is. Chanel gets upset and tells Paulina not to talk about leaving the planet anytime soon because she will not put up with it. Paulina decides that Chanel has gotten through to her and apologizes. Paulina promises not to leave this planet for a very long time. Paulina declares that she’s going to go in and kick cancer’s ass. Chanel says that’s more like it. Paulina tells Chanel that she loves her.

Roman is shocked to hear that Harris was shot while Kate asks what happened. Jada responds that last she knew, Tripp was working on him on the docks. Kate asks who shot him and Lucas asks if he’s in custody. Jada responds that they don’t know that yet. Jada asks what happened here tonight. Kate explains that she had said goodnight to Lucas, then she saw the door open and they had a gun so she fired her gun and they took off. Jada says they will get forensics in to see what they can find. Lucas reminds her that no one can know he’s there. Jada offers her room but Roman says they will take him to their apartment which Kate calls a good idea. Jada proposes to gather the unit downstairs and make sure Lucas is alone, then they will make the move. Jada says they will have a strong police presence here until they figure out what to do next.

One of the firefighters checks in with Doug, Julie, Chad, and the kids. Julie asks if they can save the house. He responds that they are doing the best they can and will transport them to the hospital to get checked out soon. Julie shouts that it’s their family home for generations with all of their history.

Tripp and the paramedics work to revive Harris but he has no pulse. They use the defibrillator and Tripp continues his compressions as Ava, Rafe, and Stefan watch on.

Chanel tells Paulina that she should get to bed and get some rest. Paulina feels she has to clean up first but Chanel says she will do it while she sleeps. Paulina doesn’t think she’ll be able to sleep but she’s feeling much more positive thanks to her. Chanel offers to lay in bed with her like when she was little which Paulina accepts. Chanel tells her that she’s really proud that she’s her mom. Paulina calls her loving and perfect. Paulina declares that she plans on sticking around this planet for a long time as they hug.

Ava thanks God that Harris is breathing as he’s loaded onto the stretcher. Stefan questions how the hell this happened. Rafe remarks that they are sure as hell going to find out. Tripp calls in to Kayla that Harris has lost a lot of blood and it’s bad as they load him onto the ambulance.

Lucas blames Clyde Weston for all of this. Jada says it sure looks like it. Kate question how he found him since nobody knew Lucas was there. Roman guesses somebody knew. Jada says they will find him a new safehouse. Lucas argues that it won’t make a difference and declares that as long as Clyde Weston is alive, he’s never going to be safe from him.

Doug tells Julie that he’s so sorry but the important thing is they are all safe. Julie cries that she’s watching half of her life go up in flames. Thomas asks Chad about he and Charlotte’s toys. Chad promises to get them new stuff but says right now, they have to count their blessings and thank God they are all okay. Thomas then asks about all their old pictures of Abigail. Chad gets a call and a distorted voice on the other end warns that maybe next time, he’ll listen.

Chance: Something’s happened.

[ Summer laughs ] That’s good.

Summer: Yeah.

Chance: That’s you, huh?

[ Summer laughs ]

Summer: Between the clubs there and the yoga retreats and the beaches, I was honestly addicted to that place for a while.

Chance: It’s gorgeous.

Summer: Yeah, it really is.

Chance: I wasn’t talking about the beach.

[ Summer giggles ]

Summer: Okay, what about you? What about you? Is traveling your thing?

Chance: Uh, yeah, yeah, I guess you could say that. Let’s see. I did iraq in the middle east when I was in the army. Spent some time in vegas doing undercover work. Tripped in mallorca. That’s not up for discussion. Sorry.

Summer: Okay.

Chance: Australia when I found out my father wasn’t actually dead after all. Guess you know how that feels, don’t you?

Summer: I do. [ Chuckles ]

Chance: Are you sorry you asked?

Summer: No. I’m fascinated. I mean, I knew that you’d had some wild times, but I didn’t realize they were that wild. Do you ever miss those days?

Chance: You know what? I am happy right where I am.

Phyllis: What do you know? Look at them over there. Together, just as I predicted.

[ Nick sighs ]

[ Audra sighing, moaning ]

Audra: Still glad you chose me?

Tucker: [ Panting ]

Tucker: Well, you’re making a pretty good case for yourself so far.

[ Incoming message sound ] I can’t believe one bottle of tide

Announcer: Additional

[ Incoming message sound ]

[ Sighs ]

Tucker: Are you awake? I love you.

Nick” thanks. What do you mean you predicted that? Together now? I mean, didn’t sharon and chance just end things like five minutes ago?

Phyllis: Um, yeah, but, I mean, look at them. Yeah, they are together now. It was obviously going that way. I mean, did you not notice that?

Nick: I mean, yeah, of course I suspected that summer had, you know, a crush on chance, but I knew she had too much integrity to make a move on him while he was with sharon, which I really respected about our daughter.

Phyllis: I did too. I mean, to a point. Sharon and chance, that wasn’t gonna last. It wasn’t gonna go anywhere.

Nick: Because you know them both so well.

Phyllis: Well, they’re not together now, are they? And look at them. They’re having so much fun together. I mean, who can’t notice that? I’m really happy. I’m happy for them.

[ Summer laughing ]

Summer: No, I can’T.

Nick: Summer really does seem happy. I haven’t heard her laugh like that in a long time.

Phyllis: Yeah. She deserves to be happy after everything she’s been through. After everything I’ve put her through, I’ll say it first. Okay. She deserves long-lasting happiness.

Nick: There’s no doubt about that.

Phyllis: I deserve to be happy too. I do. Even though people in this town don’t think so. Whatever. I do deserve to be happy. What about you, nick? Golden boy. The happiness gods have always been smiling upon you. Your life is a constant state of bliss.

[ Nick sighs ] What’s going on with you? Are you happy?

[ Glass shattering ]

Tucker: Goodbye, ashley.

You go to hell! What do you want?

Ashley: I want to talk to you, but not here.

Tucker: What do you want?

Ashley: Listen, it needs to be in private. Let’s go upstairs to your room.

Tucker: No. It’s right here, right now or forget it. ()

Phyllis: It’s been a while since we really touched base, and I want to know if you’re happy. Does that surprise you?

[ Nick sighs ]

Nick: I mean, you get in grooves, phyllis. You know, things that you put all your focus on. Like our daughter’s love life. Uh, diane jenkins, that one’s a real crowd pleaser. Uh, dodging the law.

[ Laughs ] My happiness is not currently on that list. It’s not a complaint. It’s just an observation. Like you said, it’s been a long time.

Phyllis: Do you want to know why?

Nick: Sure.

Phyllis: Because I know that you were very mad at me after I died. And, um… I was nervous to talk to you because your opinion matters to me. Listen, you weren’t blowing up my phone trying to get in touch with me, either, so…

Nick: Yes, there’s kind of been a lot going on.

Phyllis: Like what?

Nick: Nothing I can get into, but trust me, I’ve been busy.

Phyllis: All right. Well, do you want to know what I’ve been wanting to say to you during our last months of silence?

Nick: Yeah, let’s hear it.

Phyllis: That I care about you. And I’ll always care about you. Always. We’ve been in and out of love so many times. For what? The amazing thing we did, so amazing, is create that gorgeous, incredible girl over there.

Nick: Hell yeah, we did.

Phyllis: Yeah. No matter what happens with us, we will always share that bond. Being summer’s parents.

Nick: We will. Whether we like it or not.

[ Both chuckling ]

> Phyllis: So you stopped stalling?

Nick: Um, good. Seriously, I’m in a good place. I can’t help but worry about you, though.

Phyllis: Me? Why?

Nick: I mean, come on, you’re phyllis. When can I not worry about you?

Phyllis: Oh, well, that just goes to show how well you know me, nick.

Nick: Oh, okay. What does that mean?

Phyllis: That means maybe you want to buy me a drink. And I’ll let you know why I’m so deliriously happy.

Nick: Okay. Well, listen, I gotta hear.

Summer: Oh, my god.

Chance: What? What’s wrong?

Summer: Um, don’t look now, but my parents are here.

Chance: Oh, is that– is that a problem?

Summer: Oh, my gosh.

Chance: I mean, from what you said, you and your dad are tight, right? And you managed to make peace with your mom?

Summer: Yeah, that’s true. But they also seem to take some sort of perverse pleasure in knowing all of my business.

Chance: Oh.

Summer: It’s just a little bit much.

Chance: Yeah, I get that. My mom’s not always in town, but near or far, that woman knows all. Hey, at least we got parents that care, right? Not everybody can say that. And I’m not at my debate fault with your parents, because look at the incredible woman

[ Summer laughs ]

Summer: Okay, that’s a very healthy perspective on embarrassing parents. You know what, I’m going to have to start practicing this silver lining mentality of yours.

Chance: Oh, well, you’re in luck, you can start practicing right now, because here they come.

Audra: Tucker? Tucker?

Ashley: It’s irrelevant what happened on my trip to paris.

Tucker: Then why did you need to see me immediately?

Ashley: I wanted to see you face to face and tell you that I have never been more disgusted by anyone’s actions than I am by yours.

[ Tucker laughs ]

Tucker: You woke me up to tell me this?

Ashley: You know, I have accepted the sad fact that I married you, but I will be eternally embarrassed and ashamed that I ever loved you.

Remember

the things you loved…

Ashley: I gotta say, you’ve really outdone yourself this time, tucker.

Tucker: How did I accomplish that?

Ashley: Well, bribing an entire restaurant staff on a completely different continent just to make me think that I’m cuckoo.

Tucker: They all backed up my version of what happened, didn’t they?

Ashley: I know the truth. And I know what I have to do now.

Tucker: Which is?

Ashley: To pr everybody I love, I gotta protect them from you and your poison. But congratulations, because your gaslighting was, you know, somewhat effective. Because my own family is now doubting me. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. You got a lot of pain coming your way, buddy. You got so much pain coming at you. But don’t blame me. You look in the mirror.

Tucker: Gosh, that sounds like a threat, ashley.

Ashley: Oh, it’s definitely a threat. Remember that campaign that I’ve been on to get you and devon to reconcile? Well, that’s off the table. It’s done. It’s gone. I’m gonna do everything in my power to make sure that he cuts you out of his life forever. And dominic’S.

Tucker: I would think twice about that if I were you.

Ashley: Everybody I can get to listen to me, including your bought and paid for loyalist board of directors at glissade. They’re gonna know how vicious you are, how malicious you are. They’re gonna know that. I can’t believe it. Honestly, I– I can’t believe that I ever let myself feel any kind of guilt about you. I thought it was my fault. My fault, that somehow my actions created the rage that you had because of your intense heartbreak.

[ Laughing ]

Tucker: You’re doubting the heartbreak that you caused me?

Ashley: Well–

Tucker: In that case, you really are delusional.

Ashley: Well, well. You can’t break what you don’t have. You don’t have a heart. You are all ego. And that rage in paris was simply your inability to control me and monopolize me.

[ Tucker laughs ] Ye it’s funny, isn’t it? It is. You’re right. Because, um, something happened when i realized that you were actually to blame. Mm-hmm. That guilt I had? Gone. Just like that. Just like that. And you know what was replacing it? Sheer and utter contempt for you.

Tucker: Are you finished?

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: Good, because now it’s my turn.

Phyllis: Hey.

Chance: Hi.

Nick: Hi. How’s it going?

Summer: Good.

Chance: Yeah.

Phyllis and nick: Yep.

Phyllis: Saw you two over here and I thought, “oh my gosh, am I dreaming?”

[ Chance laughing ]

Chance: Would you two care to join us?

Phyllis: Sure.

Nick: No, we’re not going to do that, no. No. You guys seem to be having a good time on your, uh… is it a date?

Summer: Thanks, dad. Thank you.

Nick: Okay, uh, goodnight.

Summer: Bye. See you

Chance: See you guys. See? That wasn’t so bad, was it? I mean, from what you said, I was half expecting your dad to pull out the old class photos of you with the nerdy hair and the braces. Well, not that I believe you’ve ever taken a bad photo. I still don’t buy that.

Summer: Nice save. No, we’re just lucky that my dad can actually take a hint. I mean, if we had to sit here, the four of us, while my mom makes all of her subtle comments.

Chance: Why, I’m sorry, I had to make the offer. Very happy with the outcome. It’s just strange seeing them have a peaceful, drama-free drink together.

Chance: You think, uh, maybe they’re on a date?

Summer: No.

Chance: No.

Summer: No, no. I’m sure that they just ran into each other here and my dad couldn’t bring himself to be rude to her.

Summer: Yeah.

Chance: Yeah, he was pretty angry after, uh, you know…

Summer: My mom’s untimely death? Yes. They kept their distance for a while, but I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later. I mean, and it’s– it’s fine. It’s fine. It’s just, um… a little weird.

Phyllis: Here’s a toast to us. Thank you for finding it in your heart to forgive me. You know, for the whole diane jenkins-jeremy stark debacle. I don’t know if I would be able to do the same for you, so…

Nick: What summer went through, it changed her forever, phyllis, and she never should have gone through that, but she did. And honestly, it’s been very hard for me to let all that go. But I would like to, for all our sakes. I won’t let me moderate to severe plaque psoriasis

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Summer: And so I told harrison that he had had enough cookies before bedtime, right? And I took them away from him, and he got so mad at me. He just– he put his hands on his hips and he said, “fine. “Then I’m gonna go “waste toothpaste.” And he just stormed out of the room, went upstairs, and I was just like… I went and I checked on him after a while, and… the little guy had just gone straight to bed. He looked so sweet, and I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know if I should scold him for talking back to me, or if I should thank him for not wasting toothpaste. I was stumped.

Chance: Yeah, I love it. I love it. They always know how to get to you, don’t they?

Summer: Right?

Chance: I just took dominic shopping the other day, and we go by this store, and there was this insane drum set in the window, right? I’m talking recording studio quality, thousands of dollars, the real deal. Kid takes one look at it, and of course he has to have it. And of course, hell.

Summer: When they throw a fit in public, it’s always a fun one.

Chance: Oh, my gosh, and this wasn’t even a fit. It was like a world-class tantrum. Right? He lost it. And I look at him, and I’m like, buddy, you’re not gonna get what you want acting like that. And it was like a light switch. Kid turned into the most loving, carefree, sweetest kid on the face of the earth.

Summer: Did you get him the drum set?

Chance: In his dreams, no. Are you kidding me? Abby would kill me, first of all. And I’m not about to spend ten or 12 car payments on something he’s gonna lose interest in in like a week. But I mean, talk about not knowing what to do. I was stumped, and it was my own fault. I set myself up for that.

Summer: No, I always feel like an idiot when stuff like that happens.

Chance: There’s nothing like getting outsmarted by a kid who doesn’t even come up to your knees, right? You know what we have to look forward to, though?

Summer: No, what?

Chance: We can use all this as fodder to embarrass them when they have kids of their own.

Summer: I’ve thought of that. That and karma.

Chance: Oh.

Summer: Wait a second. Is this our payback for what we put our parents through when we were growing up?

[ Chance chuckles ]

Nick: You know, I’m not gonna minimize it. It took a lot of hard work to get over what you did to your family. I mean, collapsing at the gala. Setting up the fake ambulance crash was really something. And then just getting over the idea of never being able to see you again. Then, of course, uh, framing diane for supposedly poisoning you.

Phyllis: We don’t have to relive this, right? And listen, I’ll regret what I did every single minute of my life. And I’ll also be grateful to you every single minute of my life for getting our daughter through that.

Nick: Well, you should save that gratitude for summer. I followed her cues. I mean, I figured if summer and daniel could get over what you did to your family– they were the two that were hurt by far the most– then why should I not be able to follow their lead?

Phyllis: You give me more credit than I deserve.

Nick: Your kids are amazing people. But you need to give yourself some credit too, phyllis. I can see you making some changes to try to become a better person.

Phyllis: You do? Really?

Nick: I do. It’s sort of interesting timing because I’M… choosing to believe the same thing about my brother right now. That he’s also making some changes and decisions to try and better himself.

Phyllis: Okay. Hey, while, I really appreciate that you don’t think I’m a lost cause, you’re comparing me to adam.

[ Both laugh ] I don’t know. I want to ask you, do you ever wish that maybe you were a little more like adam?

[ Nick scoffs ]

Nick: Oh, come on. So you were offended that I ever compared you to adam, but I’m just supposed to be okay with you comparing me to him? Well, it must be difficult for you… being looked at by your friends and family as… the righteous newman. You know, the good one, the solid one. It doesn’t leave a lot of room for mistakes.

Nick: I thought that I bought you a drink so we could talk about you, not so that you could analyze me and try to convince me I’m some sort of wannabe bad boy.

Phyllis: I’m not analyzing you. They’re just questions I wanted to ask. It’s been a long time.

Nick: Well, I’m done with the questions. I have one more question.

[ Nick sighs ]

Nick: Okay. One more. One more and that’s it. Sally spectra.

Nick: It’s not a question.

Phyllis: What happened? What is that? Was that really a thing?

Nick: She’s smart. She’s beautiful. She’s unpredictable. You really find it hard to believe that I would go for that type? Look, I think you’re deflecting. Let’s just stop dancing around and be straight with each other.

Chance: How are you and kyle doing with the whole co-parenting situation? I know that’s tough.

Summer: We’re doing okay. At it. We’re civil. We don’t speak badly of each other in front of harrison. I worry about kyle though.

Chance: Yeah? What’s going on with him?

Summer: I mean, he doesn’t confide in me at all, but I just get a sense that he’S… disillusioned or something. I mean, I let him down, and jack kept me on at marchetti and let him go, and now he’s been passed up for the co-ceo spot at his own family’s company twice. He just keeps on making all these dumb moves, like getting involved with audra charles. And I just, I hate to see what’s happening to him. And there’s nothing that I can do. All I can do is just watch from a distance and… hope for the best.

Chance: Yeah, that’s hard. I know. I know you obviously still care about him, too. Um… tell me if I’m crossing a line here by asking this, but… do you ever regret that your marriage didn’t work out?

Summer: I will always care about kyle. But… regret? I think I’ve come to realize that regret is just… wasted energy. Life’s hard. People disappoint each other. And I don’t know, I think the best you can do is recognize your mistakes and own up to it and… try not to make the same ones again.

Chance: I like the way you think.

Tucker: I swear on the soul of my grandchild that I did not bribe, uh, threaten, or–

[ Ashley sighs heavily ] Or do anything to coerce that waitstaff to get them to say what I wanted them to say. If they backed up my version of what happened, it’s because it’s the truth. It is what happened. And, frankly, I’m saddened by the fact that this is how you decided to play this. That you couldn’t just… be satisfied walking away in any things with me. You had to have scorched earth. You had to come up with this ugly fiction about me. And then convince yourself that it was the, uh, the noble, righteous, abbott thing to do.

Ashley: There it is. I knew you wouldn’t be able to help yourself. You can’t attack me, can you, without going after my family.

Tucker: I don’t know what’s going on with you, ashley. I don’T. But it’s something, and I think maybe you need to seek professional help to figure out what it is.

Ashley: Oh, really?

Audra: There you are. I woke up and you weren’t there. Last thing I expected was to find you with the woman who put you through such hell. Alice loves the scent of gain so much,

she wished there was a way to

make it last longer.

Ashley: Oh, so this is why we couldn’t have our conversation up in your room– ’cause it would have been very private.

Tucker: And?

Audra: Is there a problem, ashley?

[ Laughs]

Ashley: Am I supposed to be shocked that the two of you are sleeping together? I an, really? But you do know, audra, that you are just one on a very, very long list of tucker’s hookups, right? But isn’t it a little soon? I mean, are the papers even drawn up yet for our–

Tucker: Need I remind you that you’re the one who dumped me?

Ashley: Oh, yeah.

Tucker: And you didn’t exactly put up a fight when I started those annulment proceedings, did you? Did you expect me to just sit alone in my room for the rest of my life, pining over you?

Ashley: God, no. I don’t even know why I bother to have this conversation. Here’s your problem now. Good luck with that. But, audra, quick question. Were you sleeping with tucker the same time you were sleeping with kyle? Classy. You two deserve each other.

Audra: Wow.

Chance: Thank you. So what about you and abby? Have you guys found a comfortable balance with dom and that whole ugly breakup?

Chance: I think so. You know, I won’t lie to you. It hurt being betrayed like that. Took me some time to get past, but I think in the end, I did learn from it too.

Summer: Tell me.

Chance: Um… well, I learned that you can’t force love. You know, hearts are unpredictable. And they’re uncontrollable. They want what they want when they want it. Logic plays no part. And you know what? I think you’re right. What’s the point of regret? I mean, what does that get you other than nowhere?

Summer: You know what? I like the way you think too.

Nick: I really cared about sally. Still care about her. She, uh… it killed me when that relationship ended.

Phyllis: What ended it?

Nick: I mean, what else? Adam. Her feelings for him that she couldn’t let go of.

Phyllis: She chose adam over you? Really? Oh, wow. Well, they deserve each other. They’re actually perfect for each other. How you doing now? Post-breakup.

Nick: Fine, fine. I’m back on track, you know, focusing on family and work.

Phyllis: That’s nice. That’s nice to hear.

Nick: Yeah, how about you? How are these, uh, life changes going, and are you sticking to them?

Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah, I am. Um, it’s going well. I also think… I found peace with a certain someone.

Nick: Are we talking about… danny romilotti?

Phyllis: Yes.

Nick: Okay.

Phyllis: Why? Do you have a problem with that?

Nick: I’m surprised, you know, that danny would feel comfortable with you, considering, you know, your history.

Phyllis: Well, he doesn’t feel uncomfortable with me. He sees that I’ve changed. He sees how hard I’m trying, and he validates that. I’ve changed a lot because of him actually.

Phyllis: Okay. Well, then I really hope it works out for you. I mean that. Type 2 diabetes?

Summer: Well, good night.

Chance: Yeah, it’s good seeing you two.

Nick: Same to you. I love you, super girl.

Summer: Love you. Love you, mom.

Phyllis: Love you. You two are adorable, by the way. Just saying. So cute. Yeah.

Nick: Very subtle.

Phyllis: I– oh, I don’t– I can’t help it. It’s just how I feel it came out.

Summer: Thank you. And thank you for dinner.

Chance: Well, thank you for a terrific and interesting evening. I like learning more about you. You know, how you think, the way you feel.

Summer: Right back at you.

[ Summer giggles ]

Phyllis: Are you as happy for them as I am?

Nick: Yes, I am. It’s just hard for me to see her start a new relationship so soon. Look, she’s a grown woman. She’s a mother. She has an amazing career. But I’m never not gonna look at her like she’s not our little girl who needs me to protect her.

Phyllis: So sweet. I get that. I feel the same way. But, you know, I can see in your eyes how proud you are of her.

Nick: Unbelievably proud of her– you’re right. But just so you know, I’m never gonna be okay with seeing her kiss a man.

Phyllis: Okay. So, here’s to us. And finally finding our happy places.

Nick: All right.

Audra: What the hell just happened down there?

Tucker: Yeah. I’m sorry you had to witness any of it. Ashley’s obviously further gone than even I realized.

Audra: What does that mean?

Tucker: Well, she has heard the truth from several witnesses about what happened between us in paris. And yet she refuses to believe it, and… not only that, she seems hell-bent on coming up with whatever conspiracy theory it takes to paint me as the villain. I think something’s really wrong with her.

Audra: Well, to be honest, I don’t care. I couldn’t be less interested in what ashley thinks about anything. No, I’d much rather hear how you managed to get out of this bed to the bar with your ex-wife. Yeah, I’m hoping you’ll say that you just went down there for a drink and had no idea you’d run into her.

Tucker: She texted me. And she said she needed to see me immediately.

Audra: And you couldn’t resist?

Tucker: No. I couldn’T. But it’s not because I wanted to hear what she had to say. It’s because I thought it was high time she heard from me that I’m officially moving on for good.

Audra: And how did she react?

[ Tucker sighs heavily ]

Tucker: Not well. She, uh… she was fine with ending things with me, but she went a step further. And she’s now threatened to keep devon out of my life forever. And dominic.

Audra: Well, that’s pretty petty and vindictive for an ice queen like her. But she’s not the type for idle threats. You know, maybe she’ll want to recruit abby to help her go through with this.

Tucker: She can recruit whoever the hell she wants. It’s not gonna work. I’ll be damned if I let her keep my son out of my life and my grandson. You can believe that.

Audra: Hey, just out of curiosity, uh, did you tell her about us?

Tucker: I didn’t have to. You took care of that. Rather effectively, I might add.

Audra: Would you have told her if I hadn’t shown up?

Tucker: Absolutely. Ashley is old news, honey. You’re my future now.

[ Glasses clink ]

Tucker: I’m done.

[ Glass clatters ]

Goodbye, ashley.

Go to hell.

Traci: Ashley? Oh, I’m so glad you’re home. Are you okay?

Ashley: I don’t know what’s happening to me, traci.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Hey, dad. I’m not sure what’s in this box, so I’m just going to put it in your room, okay? Thank you. I wish you’d let me help. I’m the one moving in, and I’m just standing here watching the two of you do all the work. That’s the way it should be, dad. Just sit down and relax. Yeah, I agree with finn on this one. Don’t worry, grandpa. We’ve got you covered. How are you feeling? Any morning sickness? Knock on wood, I feel totally normal, except for the incredible fact that I have a human life growing inside of me. It’s pretty amazing that I got pregnant on the first try. Was like it was meant to be, you know? Like… maybe my purpose was to bring molly and tj’s baby into this world. Well, one thing’s for sure. You’re absolutely glowing. Well, I think that might have something to do with you. I was just so glad when you called. You know, spending time with you, it’s just what I needed today. And I just put ace down for a nap, so we have plenty of time to chat. How is that baby doing? Uh, he seems okay. I’m — I’m worried about the long-term effects of losing his mother and spencer, of course, and then, the long separation from nikolas. But for right now, he seems to be settling in just fine. Good. Glad to hear it. Yeah. Yeah. I know he lived here before, and so you probably have everything you need, but you can never have too many diapers.

[ Chuckles ] No, you really can’t, can you? That’s so thoughtful. Thank you. I’m really glad he has you and kevin to take care of him while nikolas is in prison. You know, losing spencer and nikolas turning himself in has just — everything has been so hard, and… having ace here, you know, it — it really has helped me. Honey, this is about more than dropping off diapers, isn’t it? What’s on your mind? Is it that obvious? Yes. I’m worried about nikolas. Carly: Yeah, just — just let me know if there’s a problem. Okay. Thanks. Bye. Hi, ava. Ava: Hi. Are you looking for me? Yeah. Um, I’ll just be a minute. Thanks. Your assistant told me that you’d be in here. Why are you working in michael’s office? Nina. She made up a story about pipes bursting, and so crimson offices is an off-limit construction zone. She’s trying to make me miss my first deadline as editor in chief, and that’s not going to happen. Ah. That sounds complicated. Nothing I can’t handle. So, what do you want to talk about? Um, it’s about the sleepover that donna and avery have planned for this weekend. Yeah, donna’s super excited about it. I told her we could all make chocolate chip cookies. Aww, that sounds like so much fun. But, um, I’m afraid I have to cancel. Why? It’s not safe for avery to stay over. Where are we going? The pine barrens. I have some business I have to take care of.

[ Knock on door ]Oh, that must be my sister molly, early for our dinner, as usual. Okay. Hi. Hi. I know I’m early, but what can I say? I’m used to it in court. Now it’s just my default setting. Right. Yeah, no, it’s not like you’re at least 15 minutes early to everything in your entire life anyway.

[ Laughs ] Come in. Blaze, hi! It’s so nice to see you. Are you joining us for dinner? No, I’m sorry. I just didn’t realize the time. I actually have to get going. Oh, yeah? Well, I mean, you could stay if you want. Yes, please stay. The more the merrier. Sure. I’d love to. Great. We can talk about what an amazing singer you are. Tj and i are both such fans. Are you performing live anytime soon? We’re dying to see you. Gosh, that’s so nice. Uh, but no, I’m actually in the recording studio right now working on some new material. Okay. Well, I cannot wait to hear new music from you, but please tell us when you’re performing next. Wouldn’t that be so fun, krissy? Yes. Yeah, that would be so fun. You should definitely do that. I know it was part of my plea agreement that I would testify to everything I witnessed nikolas do while he was holding esme hostage, but I am so afraid of testifying against him. Honey, honey, did nikolas’ lawyer contact you? No. Why? Well, because nikolas chose to plead guilty, so there won’t be a trial. This is the first I’m hearing of this. Yeah, I know, yeah. I’m actually really proud of him. As hard as it is, I — I think that it’s great that my son is finally facing his crimes and he’s accepting the consequences for it. So you don’t need to worry, sweetie. You don’T. Your life is not going to be upended by a constant rehash of all the stuff that happened at wyndemere. Well, I really hope his cooperation helps him at sentencing. Yeah. Okay, selfishly, I’m super relieved. Yes. It’s okay. I am, too. I am, too. I feel like this is really what’s best for everyone. Yeah. Why don’t we come sit? Okay. Oh, I didn’t clean the sofa up. I was so busy earlier. I’m so sorry. Here, let me just move some of this stuff out of the way. Wow, I — I did get the tea made, however. Can I pour for you, dear? I almost forgot — yes, please. I forgot how much stuff a baby needs. I’m really proud of the men my boys are becoming, but I — aw, I miss them being this little. Yeah. Babies have a way of making you smile, don’t they? Uh, and speaking of babies and smiles, kevin and I have decided to legally adopt ace. What? I know. Laura, this is huge news! It is. It’s absolutely huge. I-I mean, obviously, it’s not something that we ever expected to have happen, but, you know, with spencer being gone and we don’t know how many years nikolas will be in prison, we just felt like this was the best solution. Oh, my god. I am so happy for you. Thanks. I know how much you love that little boy. I do. And having legal custody of ace is only going to help protect him. Although it does worry me a little bit with this adoption. It’ll lead to heather becoming even more fixated on kevin. What do you mean? Well, she visited esme’s grave recently. Yeah, kevin told me that you both ran into her there, but he didn’t say anything else. Why? What happened? Well, okay. A-as crazy as she is, she was surprisingly very warm to me because of franco. But she did direct all of her grief and anger at kevin. She blames him for esme’s death. Sonny and i barely got behind cover. We could hear the bullets hitting everywhere. It was really terrifying. I’m just glad that avery was in her room. She missed the whole thing. Uh, not a half hour, an hour before, though, she had been right there on the patio. I told her the noise was fireworks, but she’s smart, you know? And I’m — I’m worried that she can sense that something’s wrong. Okay. I understand. I really do. I know exactly how you feel, but I promise you, avery is safe at my house. No, I know. I think I know. Y-your house is like a fortress, right? It’s — it is. And I-I just really want to keep things normal for avery, because donna loves having her big sister over for sleepovers. Yeah, avery loves it, too. I-I think maybe that I’m overreacting, right? I’m just — I’m worried after everything that happened in puerto rico, so… then why are you out and about? Why don’t you stay home at sonny’s under guard? Yeah. It’s just, it’s hard to stay cooped up at sonny’s penthouse, just me and avery, you know? And he’s got the guard that follows me everywhere when I leave, so I — sounds like you’re as safe as sonny can make you. I think that sonny is hiding it well in front of avery, but… I can tell that he is really on edge. Of course he is. Someone took a shot at him in his own home. Does sonny have any idea who’s behind the attack? Dex: I don’t want to overstep, boss, but did something happen that I don’t know about? Brick brought me some crucial information. A lead on the shooter in puerto rico? Not a lead, a suspect. Are we going to bring him in? Already done.

[ Engine starts ] My rat problem will be over soon.

Whoa, grandpa. How many books do you have? One can never have too much literature, honey. Unless one moves into an apartment that doesn’t have a library, or a study, even. There may not be enough room in here for all those. You can put some of your books in my room if you want. That’s very generous, sweetheart. Although I think your stuffed animal collection might have something to say about that. I can move them. I’m just so happy grandpa’s going to be here all the time. We should have a tea party to celebrate. Come on. Okay.

[ Grunts ] What’s wrong, grandpa? Oh, uh, I just stood up a little too quickly, honey. There’s nothing to worry about. I just need to rest for a minute. But you were just sitting.

[ Chuckles softly ] Grandpa rests a lot. Is he okay? You know what? Let’s give grandpa a minute. I’ll — I’ll help you get everything set up. Violet: Okay. We can’t put it off any longer. We have to let violet know that I’m sick. I haven’t been ice skating in so long. We went to check out that new rink that just opened. It was so fun. But seriously, I forgot how hard ice skating is. Kristina’s just being modest. She was so much better at it than I was. I’m still sore from all the falls I took. Well, it sounds like you guys had a lot of fun, though. We did. Don’t listen to allie. She’s always way too hard on herself. Allie? Blaze is a stage name. My real name is allison. Wow. I cannot imagine having to change my name for work. I don’t mind it, actually. I feel like a different person when I’m onstage, so it helps me get into the right head space. That makes sense. Speaking of which, I have an early recording session tomorrow, so now I really do need to get going. Aw. Oh. It was so nice to get to know you a little bit better. Uh, I’ll be back. I’m just going to wash my hands. Okay. Bye. Bye. Your sister is really nice.

[ Chuckles ] Text me later? Yeah. Yeah, definitely. Bye. Bye. Heather was really brutal with kevin. She blames him for trying to help ryan and accuses him of causing esme’s death. She really lit into him. Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. Heather likes to lash out at people and say horrible things. But no matter how horrible she was, try not to let that get to you. Really, honey, because she’s in jail. There’s nothing she can do from there. I’m just glad she can’t get to any of you, especially ace. My god, I can’t believe you are adopting that little boy. I’m so happy for you.

[ Both laugh ] Thank you. We’re very excited about having him here full-time, although I can’t say that I ever imagined that I would be raising another child. Yeah, no, I’m — I’m sure. But he couldn’t be in better hands. Oh. And if you ever need a babysitter, it would be my absolute pleasure to watch that sweet boy. Well, I appreciate that, but I don’t think I will be taking up any of what little free time I know you have. It’s very demanding to be the head nurse of G.H. Oh, unlike being mayor?

[ Both laugh ] Yes, I guess. Well, kevin and I both have very busy schedules. But fortunately, we’re at a point in our careers where, you know, we have a little bit of flexibility, and we are both committed to giving ace a happy and a stable home. Alright, well, if you won’t let me volunteer, then aiden loves kids, and he’s been babysitting. Really? Oh, my goodness. Mm-hmm. I will keep that in mind. Actually, if I’m being honest, it’s good to know that there is some sort of a support system there, and it’s not just me and kevin in it all alone. You’re not alone. So you call us if you need anything. We’re family. We have to stick together. You look a little nervous. Are you uncomfortable going to the pine barrens? I am. Okay, what’s going to happen is not going to be easy. It never is when someone you trusted to have your back betrays you. When someone chooses money over their word, they don’t deserve to live. Is that what happened? Was someone in your organization taking bribes? Someone has been secretly working against me for months. That’s unacceptable. Of course. I know how important loyalty is to you. It means everything. I do everything for people. I treat them well. I make sure they’re taken care of. You agree with that? Of course, boss. I’ll never forget when you came back for me in that warehouse. You saved my life. Then you took me into your own home so that I could recover. And I thought that would mean more than just a quick payday. But one thing I learned in this business is loyalty is rare. And people will always disappoint you.

Well, that looks promising. What? You and “allie.” Okay, I know what you’re doing. And we are just friends. Just friends? Come on. Are you really going to tell me you’re not attracted to her? Blaze is hot. That’s not the point. Okay. Well, I think you guys are cute together, and there’s definitely a vibe there.

[ Scoffs ] Do you really not see it? I mean, I-I vibe with a lot of people, molly. Yeah, not like this. You only spent a little bit of time with her. Long enough to see the little looks she’s giving you and the way you make each other laugh. I’m just saying, I know putting yourself out there is hard, but it might be worth it. Okay. I will take that into consideration. Good, because you deserve somebody great. Okay, now you are being just as pushy as our mother. You’re just doing such an incredible thing, being the surrogate for tj and me. I want you to be as happy as we are. Wait, is that why you’re not pursuing things with blaze? Because you don’t want to have to explain that you’re having our baby? No, no, no, she already knows I’m pregnant. We wanted to, uh — to talk to you because… even though I’m very excited about moving in with you and your dad and getting to spend more time with you, uh, we may not be able to play together as much as we would both want. It’s because of your leg? It’s not just my leg. I have an illness. One that isn’t going to go away. Is it contagious? Uh, what grandpa has will only affect him. It’s not like getting a cold. You can’t catch this. Okay. What’s wrong with you? I have something called als. “Als”?

[ Chuckles ] Remember when you learned what an abbreviation is? Als isn’t a — isn’t a word. It’s an abbreviation. It’s an abbreviation for a disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. That’s hard to say. Als is easier. Yes, it is. Having this disease means that, uh, we may not be able to do some of the things together that we’re used to doing. And sometimes my symptoms may be, uh, very obvious, and I don’t want you to be scared if you see them. Like what? I might have a little trouble catching my breath. It’s like when we play tag at the park, and we chase each other for too long. That’s not scary, right? No, that’s fun.

[ Chuckles ] I may sound a little funny or be clumsy or — or trip or fall. But I-I don’t want you to worry, ’cause I will always have another grown-up around me, so you’ll never have to take care of me. It’s okay. I like taking care of you, grandpa. Thank you, sweetheart. I’m sorry you’re sick. But you can fix him, right, daddy? He doesn’t know who’s trying to kill him. And you know how he hates feeling like he’s on the defensive. I don’t blame sonny for being jumpy. I mean, it’s incredibly unsettling to know that someone took a shot at him, got that close in a place he’s always considered his stronghold. That’s why this is so awful. It just feels like nowhere is safe anymore. And the shooter definitely had information about sonny’s security that only sonny’s people would know. Well, that means sonny was betrayed by someone in his inner circle. That’s something sonny will not tolerate. Hold onto him. W-what are you doing? You think I’m the one who betrayed you? I don’t think. I know.

I’d love to be able to fix grandpa. More than anything in the world. But… it just isn’t that simple. Some things just can’t be fixed, honey. Some things, you just have to learn how to live with. And grandpa can still do so many things with you. But there will be times that he feels a little shaky, and he needs to take a break and rest. That’s okay. My teacher says breaks are good sometimes. Yes, they are. But I hate being sick. I don’t want grandpa to feel bad. Oh, no, no, don’t worry, honey, I’m not any pain. And being around you always makes me feel better. It does? Yes, always. Being with family makes everything better. That’s why grandpa is moving in with us. ‘Cause we’re all going to take care of each other. And I’m going to be here as much as I can to help. ‘Cause that’s what families do. I’m sorry you’re sick, grandpa, but I love you. I love you, too, sweetheart. Oh, hi. Hi. Hi, laura. Hi. I’m sorry to drop by unannounced. I, um — I was hoping to talk to you if I could, but I see that you already have company here, so — no, no, that’s okay. Um, I was just about to leave. You better call me if you need anything. I will. Love you. I love you. Hi. Hi. Um… so I just — I wanted to discuss the gallery’s contribution to the nurses’ ball this year. I know it’s a few months away, but it’s such an important charity, and I want to give as much as we possibly can, but — but the gallery’s getting busy, you know, and I don’t want anything to fall through the cracks. Ava. Hmm? You don’t have to make excuses to come over here. I know that we disagreed about your choice to press charges against esme, but I also understand why you did it. And you are family, so you’re always welcome here. Thank you. Would you like a cup of tea? I would love a cup of tea. You told blaze about the baby? Why? I-I thought we agreed we were going to wait until you were more than three months along. I’m so sorry, molls. Listen, I — I told her about the iui procedure because I didn’t think that I was actually going to get pregnant on the first try. And then I did, and it was a miracle, and I-I felt wrong hiding that from her. And so I told her. But I promise you, she’s not going to say anything to anyone. Something’s not adding up here. You keep saying that you and blaze are just friends, but you haven’t told any of your other friends that you’ve known much longer than blaze. I mean, you two must be really close for you to feel the need to confide only in her. Okay, you can stop interrogating me. Allie and I are dating, alright? There, I said it. It’s out there. I knew something was going on! I’m never wrong. Okay. But it’s new. And — and I-I’m not even sure where it’s going to go yet, so… from the looks of it, it’s going pretty well. You two are clearly into each other. Yeah, um… I really like her. I kind of forgot what that feels like. Yeah, you do look happy. So why did you deny you two were dating when I asked? Oh, it had nothing to do with you, I promise. It was just — look, allie’s family is very religious, and so they don’t know that she’s gay. She’s not out. So I’ve just been, you know, respecting her privacy. Krissy. What? Blaze isn’t out yet. Are you okay with that? Brick: Am I interrupting?

[ Gasps ] You are, but that’s okay, because it’s always so great to see you. Not as great as it is to see you. How you doing? I’m good. What are you doing here? Well, excuse me. I went by the crimson offices ’cause I wanted to congratulate you on being named editor in chief. Next thing I know, I see a construction crew and found out you were here. Yeah. Redecorating? Not exactly. Don’t tell me. Nina? But that’s not important. I want to talk to you about sonny, so come in. Okay. Okay, so, what have you found out about the attempted shooting on sonny’s island? You heard about that, huh? I did. Can’t say I’m surprised, but you know I can’t tell you anything. I know, but ava was just here, and she implied that there’s a traitor in sonny’s organization. I need to know how that affects my kids. He’s handling the situation as we speak. It’ll all be over soon. Boss, you got the wrong guy. Every second we’re here — stop lying to me! You’re not leaving this place. So it can be quick and easy or slow and painful. That’s up to you. I wasn’t working with the shooter on the island. I’m the one who alerted you when the shooting started. Maybe that was your plan all along. You wanted it both ways. You took the money to betray me, and then you used the shooting so you could play the hero. What money? Is this how you stay in touch with my enemy? Now you — you realizing that you screwed up and got caught? You got this all wrong. No, I don’t! Brick found two payments that were untraceable from a shell corporation that coincided with the two attacks on me. Which tells me that you betrayed me. No, I didn’T. This is not what it looks like. Then what is the second phone for?! I can’t tell you that. Well, you got a few minutes to survive, so you better unlock this phone and let me see for myself, ’cause I want to know who’s paying you to spy on me. Okay, when you turn around, you’re gonna see someone.

Do you have any more questions, sweetheart? No, I don’t think so. Well, if you think of any, you can always ask us. Anytime. Absolutely. You can talk to us about anything. Okay. But I think I need to go process this. Okay, I-I understand. Would you like to, uh, go in your room and play? And we’ll be right here if you need us. Okay. That was rough. Gregory: Do you think we overwhelmed her? I mean, that — that kind of thing is hard enough for adults to process, let alone a kid. I think violet handled it okay, actually. I do, too. You know, I know violet doesn’t know exactly what als is or that it’S… terminal, but I think it was a good first step in preparing her for what’s going to happen. You know, she’s, um… she’s a really smart kid, and… she sees so much more than we realize. And I think she was just looking for some explanation for what’s been going on. I know you’re right.

[ Voice breaking ] But I — I hate this. I hate knowing I’m not going to be here to see violet grow up, that her last memories of me are going to be of me sick and in pain. And it’s — it’s not fair. I-I was hoping for — …that I’d have more time with her. And you will, dad. I know this is hard, but you’ve got a lot of life left. Look, you shouldn’t have to hide your relationship. You deserve to be with someone who is excited to fully commit to you, not somebody who’s going to treat you like their dirty little secret. Whoa. Molly, that is not what’s going on here. Look, coming out is an incredibly personal decision. And — and allie has to do it when she’s ready. I know, I’m sorry, I — I really cannot imagine what blaze is going through. I mean, I’m lucky I don’t live in a time where I’d have to hide my relationship with tj. That wasn’t always the case. No, it wasn’T. And if people didn’t approve of your relationship, what? Would you just give up on him? No, of course not. I’m just worried about you. You’re not exactly one to hide her feelings. I mean, are you going to be okay pretending to be just friends with blaze? I don’t know. But right now, things are — you know, it’s casual. And — and if it does get more serious, then we’ll figure it out. But, you know, blaze is taking a risk, too. How so? Because she’s never had a girlfriend before. She’s actually — she’s never really even been in a serious relationship. She’s just always been so happy to focus on her career. And now she’s really happy with me, and she wants to take a chance and have a relationship. And she knows that if she wants to pursue this with me, that she has to make some changes. Changes how? I mean, are you going to have to pretend to be just blaze’s friend every time her family visits? I just — I can’t imagine you happy like that. I don’t know. But for right now, we’re happy, and we’re sorting through things. And — and at this moment, I am fine to hold her secret. And I hope you can do the same. Yes. Of course. No, I would never out her. But I do have to tell tj. How have you been? Uh — I know this is a tough time, and I’m here to talk if you want to vent or complain or scream or throw something. Thank you. Thank you, but I’m okay. You know, having ace here keeps me really busy, so that kind of forces me into the present moment. You know, if he were not here, I might actually get lost in my grief over spencer’s death. Trina is handling it as best she can. But she’s having a really hard time. And for me, seeing her grieve so deeply, it takes me back to how I felt when kiki died. How angry I was. How lost. I’ve been thinking a lot about kiki lately. I understand. You know, you never get over the loss of a child. The pain gets duller, I think, but it’s always there. I had kiki longer than you had spencer, but… it was not long enough. You know, a hundred years more wouldn’t have been enough. I keep expecting him to walk through the door. Yeah, I bet. You know that spencer and i had our problems. But I-I was starting to see him through trina’s eyes. And I could tell that he — that he was getting his life back on track. Yeah. I thought so, too. That’s really generous of you to say, especially after everything that spencer put you through. I know he shares some of the blame for your marriage falling apart. Mnh, mnh, he was just a hurt kid lashing out at — at his father and me. I’m just — I’m sorry that I won’t get to see the man he was becoming. Me, too. It’s twisted, isn’t it? All this pain goes back to that one family. Ryan took kiki from me. Esme took spencer from you. I think ryan played a very big part in making esme who she was. The man was evil. I’m glad he’s dead. God help me, I am, too. I always feel better knowing that sonny has you watching his back. My pleasure.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh, sorry. -It’s alright. -I’m sorry. I know you’re busy. I’ll just let you get back to work — wha– uh — uh, where’s sonny right now? Sonny’s just out taking care of some business. But I promise you, everything’s under control, seriously. Okay, wait. Wait, wait. What — what is sonny gonna do? Don’t worry. You’re not in any danger. Sonny will always do whatever it takes to take care of his family, no matter how much it hurts. Does sonny think dex is the traitor? What’s the password? It’s a password/touch I.D. Combo.

[ Cellphone beeps ] What’d you do to the phone? I activated a kill switch and wiped the phone. There’s nothing left on it. So you just proved that you’re more loyal to the bank roller instead of me. That’s not what this is about. I haven’t betrayed you. Then why’d you wipe the phone?! What are you hiding? The person who’s paying me is not out to hurt you. Alright. Tell me his name. It’s better for you not to know. Why? I like having a lot of friends.

[ Snaps fingers ] Give me his name. Now.

I have to tell tj that blaze knows you’re pregnant. No, you’re right. Uh… I-I didn’t really think this through. Of course, I-I should have checked with you and tj before talking to allie about this. It’s your baby, and you guys deserve to make these decisions for yourselves. It’s our baby, yes, but it is your body. And I completely understand you needing somebody else to talk to other than me about this pregnancy. Just — just know that neither tj nor i will tell anybody that blaze is gay. I do know that. I just — I hope that blaze realizes she can trust you and tj the same way that you guys are trusting her to keep quiet about the baby. I’m sure she will. I get that you have to tell tj, okay? All I’m asking is that you just give me a chance to tell allie first. Thank you for listening, laura. I didn’t come here planning to unload on you, but I-I feel so much better after talking. Yeah. Well, I hope you know that you are always welcome here, and not just when you’re upset, ’cause I want to share the good times, too. Oh, well, let’s hope the good times get here real quickly. I couldn’t agree more. Been a lot of darkness lately. Chase: Oh, I know what this means. Would you like me to read you a bedtime story? Actually, I’m going to read grandpa one, like daddy always reads to me when I’m sick. And you can use my favorite blanket. It always makes me feel better. Sonny, please call me the second you get this. And don’t do anything until you talk to me first. Okay, look, he’s not picking up. Where is sonny right now? He’s probably a little preoccupied. Oh, my god. Look, I know this is going to be hard at first. Josslyn, she was so close to dex. We have to stop this. We have to stop this. Dex had a side hustle going on, carly. I saw the proof myself. Okay, look, you have to trust me. You have to tell me where sonny is right now before he makes a mistake he will regret for the rest of his life. Sonny: All I want from you is the name of the person who convinced you to rat on me. Telling you that will only hurt you. Wrong answer. I can’t tell you who it is. So do what you got to do.

Zende: Hey, where are you–

Luna: I’m leaving. Now.

Zende: Wait, luna, luna. We’ve gotta talk about this some more.

Luna: Talking won’t fix anything.

Zende: No, it won’t fix what happened between us, no. But look, I realize what you thought.

Luna: I thought that I was with rj, zende. I saw his face. How could I make that up?

Zende: I can’t explain it. But, you do know that what happened between us, what we shared, it was consensual, right? I would never–

Luna: I know that. It doesn’t change how I feel. The shock and– and the horror. I love rj so much and we have something so special. Or we did. But now… what have I done? How could I do this to him?

Brooke: I still can’t get over it. Can you?

Rj: What?

Brooke: Your grandfather’s and donna’s impromptu wedding last night. Well, when I guess it’s right, it’s right. Right? Rj? Are you okay?

Rj: Yeah. Sorry, it’s probably nothing. Um, I just– I called and i texted luna and nothing. She hasn’t– she hasn’t responded to me.

Poppy: I told you, li, stop lecturing me. I don’t need parenting advice from you.

Li: Yes, you do. Or you wouldn’t be living your life this way. You and your special mints. And whatever other recreational drugs you indulge in these days. You’re hardly a shining example of motherhood for your daughter.

Poppy: Like you’ve always been for your son.

Li: No, don’t try to turn this back on me, penelope. I’ve lived a good and decent life.

Poppy: Yeah, but you never let me forget.

Li: In hopes you’d turn your life around.

Poppy: I am sorry that I can’t be a paragon of virtue like you.

Li: Hm… I’m no paragon of virtue. But I would never conduct myself the way you do. You’re a mother. Supposed to set an example. Do you want luna to start taking drugs too?

Poppy: Luna is a grown woman. She’s not a child.

Li: Oh, please. That’s your excuse?

Poppy: What I am doing is not harming me or my daughter. And I wish you’d get that through your skull. All right? I know what I’m doing.

Li: Hm. Really? Does luna? You said she doesn’T. Claimed you kept this part of your life from her.

Poppy: I have.

Li: I hope so. Because if you haven’t, you and your mints will lead to nothing but trouble for that girl, penelope. Big trouble.

Brooke: I know luna went home early last night. You said she was feeling tired.

Rj: Yeah.

Brooke: Maybe she was just under the weather. Slept in.

Rj: Oh, yeah. Maybe. You know, still though, if something’s wrong, I want to help her. I just– I’ve gotten to know luna so well over these last couple months. She’s just like, I respect her so much and I– I love how she lives her life and everything she values. I just can’t imagine anything would come between us.

Luna: I can’t– I can’t stay here. The longer I’m here, the more guilty I feel.

Zende: That’s just it though. You have nothing to feel guilty about.

Luna: How can you say that after what– after what we’ve done?

Zende: Can we just sit down and try to talk through this?

Luna: Talking won’t help. Nothing’s gonna help.

Zende: You are upset. You have been through a shock, but I’ll say it again, luna. What we shared, it was so beautiful.

Luna: No, no. Rj’s my boyfriend. And I love him and he trusts me, but now that trust is broken.

Zende: Freaking out like this–

Luna: I woke up thinking that was rj. Only to find out that it was you. My god, zende, what if he…

Zende: He’s not going to find out about this. And we used protection.

Luna: Oh, my god. I can’t– I can’t hear about this right now, okay? I– I need to call a car. I– I need to go home and shower and change. Oh, my god, rj’s been trying to reach me. How will I face him after what I’ve done? (Crowd cheers)

Poppy: You are so quick to judge.

Li: Only where you and your lifestyle choices are concerned.

Poppy: Uh, no. You’ve always been like this. Expecting everyone to meet your insanely rigid standards, okay? And when they don’t or can’t, you turn on them. Like you did with me. Like you’re doing right now.

Li: No, I’m concerned about your daughter. And you would be too if you weren’t so selfish and self-absorbed.

Poppy: Okay. Luna is fine. She’s happy. She’s in love. Do you even know what that is? To truly love someone?

Li: How dare you?

Poppy: How dare you? Saying that my daughter’s in for big trouble because of me. Luna knows how much she means to me.

Li: Really? Just not enough for you to stop popping your precious mints? Penelope, you need to stop taking that stuff before something terrible happens.

Brooke: You never talked much about your love life before.

Rj: Before luna, you mean?

Brooke: I assume you dated quite a bit. You are your father’s son after all.

Rj: Yeah. Well, from what I’ve heard, dad was, uh, popular in his day, wasn’t he?

Brooke: Oh, yes, he was. There wasn’t one girl in town that didn’t want to be seen on ridge forrester’s arm.

Rj: Including you, though.

Brooke: Well, I was a caterer’s daughter, remember? And the odds were astronomical.

Rj: But you did.

Brooke: I did. I ended up with him. We were destined to be together. And the same could be for you and luna. Not that I’m pressing things. Only if it’s meant to be.

Rj: No, it’s– honestly, I’ve– I’ve been thinking that more and more lately. And I– I just wish that she’d respond to me.

Brooke: Well, why don’t you just reach out to her again if you’re so worried?

Zende: Are you sure that I, uh, can’t drive you home?

Luna: My ride will be here soon.

Zende: Okay, but you’re still so upset. Is there nothing I can do for you?

Luna: No.

Zende: I just hate seeing you like this.

[ Phone rings ] Is that…

Luna: Hi.

Rj: Hi. Oh good, you’re alive. ‘Cause I’ve just been calling and, um, texting you.

Luna: Yeah, I’m sorry.

Rj: No, no, no, no, no, no. There’s nothing to be sorry about. I just, uh, I know you were tired last night and you left granddad’s party early, so I just– I just wanted to make sure you’re– you’re all right. Hey, luna, you still there?

Luna: Mm-hmm.

Rj: Are you all right?

Luna: Um, no, not really. I, um, I don’t really feel like myself.

Rj: Okay. Um, well, maybe I can come over, bring you whatever you want.

Luna: That’s really sweet, rj. Um, and I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Um, I– I– I gotta go.

Zende: It kills me to see you like this.

Luna: I don’t understand what happened last night. It was rj. I swear to god, I thought it was rj. My life is full of questions…

Brooke: So, is luna okay? Is she sick?

Rj: Um, I’m not sure.

Brooke: She didn’t say?

Rj: No, not really. She said that she, uh, she wasn’t feeling like herself.

Brooke: Well, I heard you offer to go over there and help her in any way that you can. That was sweet of you.

Rj: Yeah, luna said that too.

Brooke: Well, if you want to head out…

Rj: No, I– it’s, I don’t think I should.

Brooke: Why?

Rj: I– I don’t know. It’s just– I was on the call with her and she said that she was really sorry. And then– and then she, like, hung up really fast.

Brooke: Maybe she just prefers to be alone right now.

Rj: Maybe you’re– maybe she’s just sick. She’s not feeling well. She prefers to be alone. Honestly, I’m the same way. I– I get that. Yeah.

Brooke: But you still can’t help worrying about her.

Rj: Well, I mean, you know, poppy’s with her. She’s got her mom to take care of her. Obviously, she’s fine there. It’s just– I don’t know. I kind of feel like something’s off.

[ Zende sobbing ]

Poppy: Hey, there she is. I was wondering when you’d get home. So, I want all the details. How was the party? How was the soiree at eric’s? Who was there? What happened after you left? I mean, I can probably guess what happened. Rj drove you to malibu and you had the most romantic time, just the two of you. Oh, baby, I am so happy for you… honey, what’s wrong? What happened? Did you and rj have a fight? Did you guys break up? Talk to me. Tell me what happened.

Luna: We’re still together. For now.

Poppy: For now? Okay, then why are you so upset?

Luna: Because I’m scared. I just ruined everything.

Poppy: Oh, honey, I’m sure that’s not true.

Luna: I’m still just trying to wrap my head around how something like that could happen. It’s not what you think, mom. I didn’t– I didn’t wake up in rj’s bed this morning. I woke up in zende’S. (Vo) welcome to lobsterfest. Is your party ready?

Brooke: It’s amazing how fast things change, right? Think, just a year ago you were traveling the world and now you’re here. Working in the family business.Ha a place of your own, and you have a girlfriend that you’re crazy about.

Rj: No, you’re right. My life definitely has changed a lot in a very short amount of time.

Brooke: Yeah, I’m sure that luna feels like that, too. A lot’s changed for her. For the better. Especially your relationship.

Rj: You know, I know you’re probably getting tired of me saying it, but she– she really is, she’s just– she’s smart. And she’s beautiful. She’s– she’s funny. She really loves me.

Brooke: Well, of course. I mean, how could she not? Look at you. You’re absolutely gorgeous. And you’re– you’re sweet. You’re kind. You’re caring.

Rj: Thank you, mom. I just hope she’s doing okay.

Brooke: Honey, she i and she’s got her mom there taking care of her, right?

Rj: Right, yes. Poppy’s taking great care of her, of course.

Poppy: You were with zende? Zende forrester?

Luna: Yeah, he was at the party last night.

Poppy: And?

Luna: And, when I woke up this morning, I didn’t know where I was. I thought I was at the beach house with rj.

Poppy: But you were really with zende? My god, honey. What in the world happened to you last night?

Luna: I don’t know. I mean, I’m still so confused about it.

Poppy: You don’t remember anything? Anything at all?

Luna: No. I just know that I wasn’t myself.

Poppy: Well, of course, you weren’t yourself. You don’t wind up in other men’s beds. The only guy you’ve been with is rj.

Luna: Not anymore. Hi, you.

Zende: You’re here…

Luna: Waiting for you. I mean, it was consensual, but I was so sure that it was rj. I mean, I literally saw his face, mom. He was right there. I know how it sounds, and I– I can’t explain it. I wish I could, but I can’T. And– and zende didn’t do anything wrong. I mean, this isn’t his fault. It’s mine.

Poppy: Hey, sweetheart. Hey, listen to me. Whatever happened, however–

Luna: I– I know it sounds crazy, but there has to be some sort of explanation, right? So please just help me figure this out.

Poppy: Oh, honey, I wish I could.

Luna: Maybe, maybe, I don’t know. I must have be oe who’been drugged? Do you think that could be it?

Poppy: Could someone have drugged you?

Luna: I don’t know. I mean, I was at the forrester house, not a club. I wasn’t covering my drink like I would do at a bar, but why would I?

Poppy: Exactly. You were with people that you like and respect and who like and respect you.

Luna: Yeah, including zende. And no one in that house would do anything to hurt me. It just– it makes no sense. Like, I didn’t even have that much to drink. I had, like, I don’t know, like a couple drinks, a couple glasses.

Poppy: How much did you have to eat?

Luna: I don’t know. Like, barely anything. Probably had more mints than anything else.

Poppy: Mints?

Luna: I’ve never felt this way before, mom. Why is this happening to me, mom? Why?

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

[tense music]

[knocking]

Mm. Oh. What in God’s name? Oh. Oh, hey.

Sorry, my hands are full. But wait until you see what I got, all your favorites!

My favorite what?

Oh, favorite everything. We are about to have a mother-daughter night that you will never forget.

Oh, Chanel, darling, you know, my surgery is in the morning. I’m not really in the mood for–

OK, well, we are just gonna have to get you in the mood. I’ve got your favorite nail polish for your manicure, a la Chanel. I got a puzzle, pieces because I know how much you hate ,.

Yeah, we’d be up all night with it.

I got this deck of cards and all your junk food faves. Let’s see, we got crinkle chips, some cheap-ass cupcakes that you love, and those hard caramel candy thingies.

Chanel, I can’t eat anything after midnight tonight because of the anesthesia!

OK, well, we still have a few hours left until midnight, so we better chow down before the clock strikes :. And let’s see. If that doesn’t cheer you up, I know this will.

[laughs] It’s girls’ night.

[quirky music]

Hey.

Oh, whoa, let me help you with that.

Thank you.

Yeah.

So you’ve been busy.

Yeah, well, the downside to this morning’s bust was endless paperwork of an officer-involved shooting.

Yeah, how’s Goldman doing?

Oh, she’s OK. I sent her home after her mandatory meeting with the department shrink.

Yeah, she’s gonna have a lot to work through.

[chuckles] Yeah, that’s for sure. I know. I’ve been there. But you know, she’s a tough cookie, and she’s gonna get through it. And on a more positive note, we got a lot of product out the street today, and we’re a major thorn in Clyde’s side. So, all in all, it’s a good day.

Yeah.

[tense music]

[gunshots]

No!

Lucas, are you all right? Lucas!

[fire alarm blaring]

Fire!

Fire!

Oh, my God!

Oh, my God.

Hello, all.

Hi.

Oh, hey there. Nice to see you fully dressed.

You might want to lower your voice, huh?

Sorry.

And look, you’re gonna forget about what you saw, right?

I wish I could. The image is kind of seared into my brain.

OK, Tripp, remember what we talked about, about respecting each other’s boundaries?

Mm-hmm.

Yeah, OK, good. And out of that respect, the two of you are never going to talk about that joke, about that moment, ever again. Got it? All right, I’m gonna grab some fresh air.

So, how about that Super Bowl?

Mm.

[tense music]

Oh, my God. Oh, God. Oh, God, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Harris, Harris, Harris, Harris, Harris. OK, oh, no, no, no, no. Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Chanel, I appreciate this. I really do. But are you really up for a night of fun and games? You’re supposed to be getting married tomorrow.

Hey, hey, when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. You taught me that.

Yeah, but those lemons come from my tree. Oh, this is all my fault.

OK, would you please stop saying that? Stop making yourself the big bad witch here, OK? No more guilt and no more negative feelings. We got junk food to eat and not a lot of time left in which to eat it. We got puzzles to make, movies to watch. Oh, and pizza’s on the way.

Chicago style?

Of course, it’s Chicago style. What do you think this is, my first rodeo?

All right, so, let’s start the puzzle and the movie.

Ugh, what are my choices? We’ve got “Bad Boys II,” “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” and “Get Out.”

Oh, mm-mm. I’m not watching “Get Out” before my surgery. Uh-huh, I’ll be worried that they’ll be trying to transplant somebody’s brains into my head while I’m passed out on the table. No, thank you. I think Stella can help me get my groove back when I’m recovering. So let’s go with “Bad Boys.” I can use the laughs.

All right, you got it.

[phone ringing]

Oh. Hello? Yes, I’ll accept the call. It’s Lani.

[tender acoustic music]

All right, so county coroner’s office took custody of the deceased at :. The next of kin were notified at :. The coroner’s office is starting an official investigation into his cause of death.

OK. When’s the autopsy?

Well, considering the circumstances, our drug-dealing body was moved to the front of the line. So it was actually performed this afternoon. We should have the results tomorrow.

Good, that’ll confirm that he fired his weapon.

Mm-hmm. As well as wound trajectory and if he has any opioids in his system.

Right. So does this count as our dinner date?

Well, considering I don’t see any end to this paperwork, I’m gonna go with yes.

[exhales sharply] Well, I’ll take what I can get.

You’re the best. What about Harris? I still don’t have his report yet. Is he around?

[tense music]

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Oh. Oh, God, oh, God, no, no.

[gunshots]

[gasping]

No, no, no, no, no, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.

Look, Tripp, it’s nobody’s business, OK? So please, don’t say a word to anybody about what you saw at your place.

Look, who am I gonna tell? And you heard what my mom said. I promised her that we would respect her boundaries from now on.

[phone ringing] Mom?

Tripp, Tripp, get to the loading dock right now. Harris has been shot.

OK, are you OK?

Mom, are you OK?

No, I’m fine. Were you hit?

No, I’m fine. Look, nothing! Mom.

Hey, it’s me! It’s me, OK? All right, you two OK? I was outside. I heard the shots.

Yeah, we’re OK. There was someone there, and they had a gun. I shot him. I don’t know if I hit him.

But you’re both OK?

Yes.

Yeah, we’re fine.

All right, stay here, OK? Stay here. Lock the door. Get down on the floor, both of you. And stay away from those windows, right? Got that?

OK, go, go, go, get Doug and the kids and get out safe. I’ll call .

Fire! Fire, everybody! Get up! Fire!

Where’s the extinguisher? Where’s the extinguisher?

Kitchen!

Yes, yes, of course. I will make sure to text Eli updates as soon as I get them. OK, now, quick, say goodbye to Mama before your time runs out. OK, love you.

[chuckles]

Oh, yes, oh, thank you for calling, sweetheart. Mm, it means so much to me. Mm-hmm, love you too. Well, I appreciate the prayers, baby. Bye, bye now. Oh. Ooh, so good to hear Lani’s voice, just what I needed.

Yeah, I know. I wish she could be here with us for girls’ night.

Oh, me too. Me too. My Lord willing, her release come soon. Oh, maybe she’ll be back in Salem in time for your new wedding day.

Yeah, maybe.

OK, well, let’s start the puzzle and then the movie. And where you hiding those cheap ass cupcakes? Where they at?

It’s all right, sweethearts. We’re safe now. You’re safe here.

Where is Chad?

He’s still in the house.

Daddy!

[tense music]

Julie, no, no!

Katie, it’s me. Open up. All right, I cleared the scene. The pub is secure. The shooter’s gone. Did either of you get a good look at him?

I didn’t see anything. It was too dark.

They were dressed in black. I just saw the gun.

Well, it’s a good thing you acted fast, Kate. You scared him off.

Not only that, but you saved my life.

[tender acoustic music]

[tense music]

What happened?

I don’t know, I don’t know. I just found him lying here, bleeding.

Call .

No, no, I called you.

Wendy, call . Tell them we have an officer down behind the bistro. We need paramedics.

Oh, my God.

Hey, give me something that I can use to stop this bleeding.

Like what?

Anything, towels, cloths, whatever you have.

Yes, there’s napkins. There’s napkins right inside the door in the laundry service bag. Just rip it open. Stefan, go!

Harris, Harris, can you hear me? Damn, I need scissors.

It feels like a single bullet wound to the chest, one in the left arm, significant bleeding.

We need paramedics. We have a police officer down at the loading docks behind the bistro.

Tell him it’s a gunshot wound to the chest and one to the left arm.

A —, gunshot wound to the chest and left arm.

Hey, we’re not gonna leave you.

Here, here, here.

Hold him. OK. Airway’s clear, shallow breathing, possible tension pneumothorax. I need an occlusive bandage. Do you have a first aid kit?

In the kitchen.

I’ll go get it.

Oh, God, this wasn’t supposed to happen.

What do you mean by that?

Nothing.

I will protect you because I love you. I’d think maybe you already knew, but I love you, Ava.

Well, you better learn how to stop. I mean it. You better get over that.

OK, you don’t have to stop.

Will you trust me, please?

Yes. It doesn’t matter now. Just don’t die. Oh, God, Harris, please. Please don’t die. Don’t die.

[sirens blaring]

Ooh, ooh, I am stuffed to the gills.

Me too. You want me to paint your nails now?

Well, will I have to sit up?

A little.

Then, no.

[phone rings]

Don’t move.

Mm-hmm.

[phone beeps]

Hey, boo. Yeah, it’s going well. No, you cannot come over. I told you that this is girls’ night. “Bad Boys II,” you were right. Thank you for getting the DVDs. Yeah, OK, I love you too, Johnny. I’ll tell her. See you tomorrow.

[soft dramatic music]

Johnny sends his love, and he wishes you the best for tomorrow’s surgery.

Mm, I’ll take all the good juju I can get.

He’s out shopping, and he wanted to stop by, but I told him that this is our night.

Shopping! I bet he’s getting a Valentine’s Day surprise for you.

Well, he is pretty, pretty good with surprises.

Good going, Katie. All that practice at the gun range paid off.

Yeah, that shooter was definitely after me.

Yeah, we need to tell Harris about this.

You mean the guy who told Lucas he was going to be just fine? Because, you know, if you hadn’t snuck down to the kitchen to raid the kitchen, and if I hadn’t thought I heard an intruder and went down after you.

I know.

Katie, look, Lucas is right here. He is fine. He’s just fine, OK?

[sirens blaring]

Can you feel–

Oh, God. Save him. You have to save him, Tripp.

[soft dramatic music]

Oh, my God, it’s Harris.

What’s his condition?

Approximately -year-old male, unknown downtime, gunshot wound through the chest and the left arm. No apparent exit wound to the chest. Not moving, intermittent gasping, needs fluids.

OK, get this area cordoned off. Then start canvassing. See if any of the surrounding businesses caught anything on camera.

OK.

What the hell happened?

I don’t know. I just– I came out here, and I found him lying in blood.

[phone ringing]

Hernandez. Oh, my God, yeah. There’s been another shooting, the Brady Pub. I need you to go over there now.

Chad! Chad! Chad, stop! Stop! You can’t put it out! It’s too big. Come out!

I can do it!

No, come out! Come out!

[upbeat music]

OK, Mama, so do you have any s?

Go fish.

Oh, got it!

Oh, you always were a shock at this game! Oh, it was your favorite.

Well, thank you for indulging me. It makes me very happy.

[chuckles] You know what makes me happy?

Mm?

You and Johnny together.

Yeah, I am a very lucky girl.

Well, I may be a little bit biased, but I think he’s the lucky one. But who cares who’s lucky? It’s just so wonderful that you found your true love.

Yeah, yeah, it is.

You know, I don’t think I ever asked you, but what is it about Johnny that makes him the one?

Oh, my gosh, let’s see. Where do I start? Well, he makes me feel safe, and also empowered, and he really just accepts me and respects me for who I am. And then, he’s also fun, and he makes me laugh, and he’s so creative and curious, and I just– I love how honest he is, and he’s strong, but he can also be vulnerable. And, you know, he’s really just the whole package.

Mm.

And here, I thought you were just gonna say he’s a great kisser.

[laughter]

Well, we do have some really great chemistry, but it really is so much more than that.

Mm.

[phone ringing]

Whoa. Oh. It’s Grand Central Station in here tonight. Oh. Hello?

[tense music] Oh, my God. What? When did this happen?

Is he alive?

Who is it?

Yeah, keep me posted. You understand?

Detective Harris Michaels was shot tonight by an unknown assailant.

Is he OK?

Well, they don’t know yet. They just found him. He’s being treated on the scene.

Where is he?

Over by the loading docks behind the bistro. I should go to the hospital.

No, no, absolutely not, OK? You are supposed to be preparing for your surgery tomorrow. You let the deputy mayor who was supposed to be filling in for you cover that. Let him handle it.

I know, I know, yeah. But I need to get over there because I am–

The only thing we can do for him right now is pray, OK? And we can do that right here.

Oh, Lord, where are they?

I have to go find them.

No, Thomas, no. That’s too dangerous. Just please stay here.

Hey, come here.

Oh, oh, oh! Oh, thank God!

You OK?

Thank God!

[laughs]

Are you OK? It’s OK. It’s OK.

[sirens blaring distantly]

Come on, Harris. Pick up. Damn it, voicemail. When I get my hands on that guy, I swear.

Somebody broke in. They were armed. Kate shot at them. They took off.

What did he look like?

I mean, I really couldn’t tell. I couldn’t see much. They were dressed in black.

OK, where did this happen?

Right here.

In Harris’s room? I need to get in there.

No! You can’t do that.

Why not?

Well, it’s just a matter of privacy. I can’t let you in my tenant’s room.

OK, look, a crime went down here tonight, and as a former police officer, you know just as well as I do that I need to investigate in order to do my job.

[soft dramatic music]

It’s you. This is your safe house?

Yeah, yeah, I’ve been here the whole time.

I live right down the hall, and I had no idea.

We need to get in touch with Michaels, let him know what happened.

That won’t be possible. Harris was shot tonight.

What?

And we don’t even know yet if he’s going to make it.

Pulse is steady. Harris, can you hear me? Harris?

We don’t know what happened. We were just all– we were all inside.

Harris? Harris, Harris, I need you to wake up now, OK? Harris.

You didn’t hear anything, gunshots?

I need you to wake up.

No, nothing.

Come on, now.

I just– I came out. I needed a break, and I needed some fresh air. And I just looked– I looked over, and there he was. He was just– he was just– he was just– he was lying there, bleeding. Then he looked at me for a minute, and then, he just closed his eyes.

I don’t have a pulse. He’s unresponsive. Get the defib ready.

[tense music]

Oh, God, that poor man hanging to life. Oh, what’s wrong with this world?

Yeah, was he shot in the line of duty?

Oh, we don’t know yet. Oh, it just goes to show, you never know when your number might be up. Chanel, Chanel, honey, we need to talk.

Oh, Mama, no.

Yes, yes. Now, you listen to me. Now, if anything should happen to me during my surgery tomorrow, now, the key to the safe deposit box…

I know where it is!

Is in the bottom of the jewelry box in the secret compartment.

I said I know where it is.

Well, I’m just reminding you of it, OK? OK, now, everything that you need is right in there.

No, everything I need is right here.

Oh, you don’t have to shout!

Yes, I do, because I’m trying to get through to you, Mama, because I need you to understand that you are my mother, and I love you, and I need you, so don’t you dare talk about leaving this planet any time soon because I will not put up with it. Do you hear me?

Oh, all right. Baby, all right.

[tender music] You have officially gotten through to me, OK? I’m sorry. I’m– I’m so sorry.

Yeah, you should be.

Well, OK, how about this? I promise I will not leave this planet for a very long, long time. And in fact, I’m gonna go in there tomorrow and kick cancer’s ass so hard, they won’t even know what hit it.

That’s more like it.

Oh, God. How I love you!

Damn it. Harris was shot?

What happened?

Last I know is that Tripp was working on him at the scene. He was shot on the loading dock at the bistro.

Well, who shot him?

Do you have him in custody?

Look, we don’t know that yet, OK? I’m sorry. But what happened here tonight?

I was in the room with Lucas. I had just said good night. I turned off the light. I started to the door, and I saw the door handle move. The door opened, I saw a gun, and I fired.

OK, how many shots? Did you hit the shooter?

I don’t know. They just took off.

OK, OK, we’ll get forensics in here and see what they can find.

Wait a minute. No one can know I’m here.

Look, I’ll move you to my room.

No, no need. We’ll take him to our apartment.

Yeah, that’s a good idea.

No, OK, how about we do this, OK? I’ll get the unis downstairs, gather them up for a briefing and make sure you’re alone up here, OK? And then, we’ll make the move. Got it?

Yeah, yeah, I got it.

All right, great. I’m going to have a police– a strong police presence here until we can figure out what we’re gonna do next.

[tense music]

Are all your family members are accounted for?

Yes, we’re all here, yeah.

What about pets, cats or dogs.

No, no, there are no pets.

Please, can you save the house?

We’re doing our best, ma’am. We want to get you transported to the hospital soon to make sure everyone’s A-OK.

[soft dramatic music]

It’s our family home, for generations! All of our history– all of our history is there!

Check pulse.

No pulse.

I don’t have a pulse.

Oh, God, no, no.

Charging. Stop CPR. Clear. V-fib.

Stand clear.

Shocking. Shock.

Continuing compressions. Come on, Harris. Come on, come on!

[tense music]

OK, you should get to bed now, Mama. Get some rest.

Oh, mm-mm, not yet. I got to clean up this mess first.

Would you please just stop, let me do the cleaning, and you go get some sleep.

Well, honey, I don’t think I’ll be able to tonight, you know? But I’m feeling much more positive than before, you know, thanks to my wonderful daughter that– and I know I’m gonna date myself with this expression. I’m still wound up like a cheap clock.

OK, well, I don’t really know what that means, but I do have an idea of how you could wind down.

OK, let’s hear it.

OK, so, I was thinking that maybe I could crawl into your bed and lay with you like I did when I was little.

Hmm, you know, you’d probably take up less in the bed now than you did then. I swear, you’d end up sleeping sideways with a foot in my face. I’d be teetering on the bed, trying to hang on.

Well, so, is that a yes?

Well, you know what? I’d like that very much, cuddling up with my baby tonight just like we used to. Oh, you’re not gonna make me– you’re not going to make me do those little shadow finger things on the wall, are you?

Maybe.

Well, I guess I better get my flashlight.

[laughter]

Oh, you know what, Mom? I just want to say that I am really proud that you’re my mom.

Aw, and I just want to say, you are my darling daughter, so, so sweet, so kind, so loving, so perfect in every way. You make me determined, and just like I said before, but it damn well bears worth repeating, I plan on sticking around this planet for a long, long time.

Well, thank God he’s breathing. Thank God.

[tense music]

How the hell did this happen?

I’m sure as hell gonna find out.

I’m gonna ride with them. He’s lost a lot of blood. Kayla, it’s bad.

This is all Clyde West. And you know that, right?

It sure looks like it.

How did he find him? No one knew that Lucas was here.

Somebody did.

We’ll find him a new safe house.

It’s not gonna make any difference. As long as Clyde Weston is out there, as long as he’s still alive, I’m never gonna be safe from him.

[soft dramatic music]

Oh, I’m so sorry, my darling. But the important thing is that we are all safe.

Yes, I know, but I’m watching half my life go up in flames.

Daddy, what about my car collection and Charlotte’s princesses?

You know what? We’re going to get you all new stuff, OK, buddy? I promise. But for right now, we have to count our blessings and just thank God that we’re all OK.

I know. And I did already, thank God, I mean.

Yeah, that’s good. That’s good.

Daddy? What about all the pictures of mommy?

[phone ringing]

[phone beeps]

Hello?

[deep voice]

Maybe next time you’ll listen.

[eerie music]

Billy: Hey.

Chelsea: Hey.

Billy: How are you? I got your message. You seemed a little upset.

Chelsea: I just got off the phone with the teachers at connor’s school. They were giving me details about what’s been going on with him.

Billy: Okay. What’d they say?

Chelsea: The news was much worse than I thought.

Victor: Okay, my sweet baby. This will do you good, okay?

Nikki: Thank you.

Victor: There we go. There we go.

Victoria: Oh, good, you’re both here. Um, I wanted to drop by and… mom, are you okay?

Victor: She’s okay. She’s just a little bit under the weather, okay?

Nikki: Actually, things are not okay. They’re bad. Very bad. I had my worst stumble yet, and this one really scared me.

Audra: She’s home? Who, tucker? Ashley? Oh, my god. You just can’t let go of her, can you? You are obsessed. No matter what you say, she’s got you completely spellbound. You know, in all of your talk about trust, all your meant-to-be and I choose you, and you have the nerve to pull this.

Ashley: What’s going on? Why do we have to wait for traci to have a family discussion? Just tell me. How insulting is this, that you look at each other like that? Is this an intervention? It’s starting to feel like an intervention.

Jack: You are jumping to conclusions, blowing this way out of proportion.

Ashley: Is that what I’m doing? Really? Well, obviously, you’re concerned about me. Okay, so what did traci tell you about paris? That tucker bribed the waiter? I told you that.

Jack: No, there was more to it than that.

Ashley: And what was that, jack?

Jack: Traci spoke to the rest of the waitstaff at the cafe.

Ashley: Really? And they backed up my version of events?

Jack: No, none of them could recall tucker being physically violent. They remembered the altercation, but there was no verification of physical violence.

Ashley: Wow. Okay, so he– he obviously got to the entire restaurant staff. That bastard. He bought off the whole staff. I mean, to get them to lie for him, he is unbelievable.

Announcer: Additional

sponsorship provided by… blue-emu gave me my hobbies back.

Ashley: Don’t tell me that you’re, um, buying tucker’s bs. I mean, have you forgotten who we’re talking about here? You, diane, more than anybody, understands what he’s capable of, right? Didn’t he blackmail you into trying to take over jabot? Blackmail, lies, deception. This is his M.O.

Traci: Ashley. Oh, I’m so glad to see you home safe. I’m sorry it took so long.

Jack: No, it’s all right. I already filled ashley in.

Traci: What?

Ashley: You questioned the rest of the restaurant staff without me? And then you came back here and you told everybody but me? Why? Why did you go behind my back like that?

Tucker: Audra, you’re misinterpreting this. Yes, I did want to know when ashley was back from paris, but not because of any obsession with her.

Audra: No? Then why? What difference does it make to you where she is if you want nothing more to do with her?

Tucker: Because if I know where she is–

Audra: You know, it’s– it’s one thing to not trust each other completely in business, but it is an absolute nonstarter for you to continue breaking your promises on a personal level. You’re supposed to be done with that woman.

Tucker: I am done with her. Completely. You are the one I want to be with, but–

Audra: Oh, yeah? Or am I actually just the one who’s available? Admit it, tucker. You know, all your romantic pleas to me were just because you can’t have the woman you actually want and your ego can’t stand it.

Tucker: Would you let– may I speak, please?

Audra: You know, I have kept my distance from you, tucker. Sex? Sure. You know, actual intimacy? No. Until now. I have broken every single one of my rules because I wanted to believe you meant what you said.

Tucker: Okay, would you let me speak now? There’s only one reason I want to know when she’s back from paris.

Audra: And that is?

Tucker: To avoid her. So we can avoid this. So that nothing interferes with my focus on you. I want to know where she is so I can do whatever I need to do to avoid running into her. Period.

Audra: Do you honestly expect me to believe that? You know, I wouldn’t be surprised if you want to know where she is because you just can’t wait to see her again.

Tucker: Yeah, but then you don’t know me at all. Because the truth is, I’ve had it with her. I’ve just– I’m sick to death of the constant arguments, the accusations, the insistence that I’m gaslighting her. I am crossing the street. I just– I don’t want her interfering. I don’t want her getting in the way of what you and I have.

Billy: Okay, so let me– let me hear it. What did they say about connor?

Chelsea: He’s struggling, billy. And I don’t know how to help him.

Billy: Struggling in what way?

Chelsea: In all of his classes. The teachers, they say that they’re observing him, but he’s having trouble focusing. He– he can’t pay attention to things. They think it’s maybe nerves or anxiety, and it’s seeping into his every day. They say it could be like a processing disorder or something, and that’s why he’s distracted in class.

Billy: But he’s never dealt with anything like that before?

Chelsea: No. He always got great grades, and none of the other schools ever reported anything like this. They said he’s not eating, and they said they don’t think he’s sleeping because he looks so tired. And um, and they also said he’s washing his hands all the time and using sanitizer.

Billy: What’s that all about? Like he doesn’t want to get sickand miss more time and fall further behind?

Chelsea: They don’t know. They just want me to talk to the on-campus therapist.

Billy: Okay. Look, I know how hard this is, okay? It always is with kids. Just take a deep breath. You’re gonna get him through this? What can I do to help get you through this?

Victoria: Stumbled? Mom, what happened?

[ Nikki sighing ]

Nikki: I had a terrible relapse.

Victoria: Because of jordan and what she did to you?

Nikki: I’m dealing with it. I just had a moment of fear and panic, and I made a bad mistake.

Victoria: How did this happen?

Victor: Apparently, it was the news of the fire at the correction facility. And the possibility that that jordan woman might have escaped.

Nikki: She has escaped. You knew about the incident at the prison?

Victoria: I did. But, mom, we only kept it from you because we were trying to protect you.

Nikki: So you two thought that you would just keep me in the dark? This woman has tried to kill me twice and you thought that I didn’t need to know she was on the loose?

Victoria: After everything that’s happened, we didn’t want to upset you anymore.

Victor: Sweetheart, I don’t want you to continue worrying about this. Even if she escaped, I’m going to make absolutely sure she’s not gonna come anywhere near this house.

Nikki: It’s too late. I’m telling you, she has escaped.

Victor: How do you know that? She could’ve– she could’ve died in the fire.

Nikki: No, she didn’T. I have proof that she is alive, and she is still very much out for revenge. No two bodies are the same.

Victoria: Proof?

Victor: Sweetheart, please answer us. Have you seen her or heard from her without telling me about it?

Nikki: I’ve been getting those phone calls again, and at first, when I would answer, nobody would be there. But this morning, I got another one with that same song playing.

Victor: Is it possible you imagined that call?

Nikki: No, victor. I have no doubt in my mind. I heard that music on my phone, just as I know it’s jordan who is behind it. I know I have given you reason to question my clarity, but you’re gonna have to believe me on this.

Victor: Sweetheart, if this is true, then now more than ever, you cannot allow her to push your buttons.

Victoria: Exactly, mom. You are stronger than she is. And if she is out there, jordan is weak and she’s desperate. She’s out of money. I mean, she’s a criminal with entire police departments after her. But you have us. You’re here. You’re safe with us. We love you.

Victor: Sweetheart, think about it. You have an advantage. You’re safe here. Certainly safer than you were while she trapped you in that room.

Victoria: That’s right. There is absolutely nothing that she can do to hurt you. She’s the vulnerable one, not you.

Nikki: Thank you for believing in me. I love you for it. But right now, I– I need to get some rest. I need to close my eyes and forget that this day ever happened. I’ll be stronger after I get some sleep. But first, I have a confession to make.

Chelsea: I know connor is at the right school to deal with whatever this is. And I just have to focus on staying positive and being proactive. Adam’s doing the same, actually.

Billy: That’s great. I think it’s important that you and adam are on the same page.

Chelsea: Absolutely. Our main focus will always be our son. I think this is just the aftermath for connor of everything he had to deal with last year.

Billy: Right.

Chelsea: My trauma, finding out johnny was his half-brother. I mean, that is so much for a little kid.

Billy: Moving to a new city, starting a new school. That’s a huge transitional year for you.

Chelsea: And, you know, adam and I, of course, want to run straight to the school, but they told us to wait. They think it’ll freak out connor and give him more to stress about.

Billy: I think that’s a good call.

Chelsea: And in the meantime, I called my therapist and she was very helpful.

Billy: Wow. Look at you, on top of it all, cool, calm, and collected.

Chelsea: I don’t think a year ago this time, I could have been. Actually, I know a year ago this time, I couldn’t have been.

Billy: A year ago, you were in a different place. Look at you now.

Chelsea: Wow. A lot of that is thanks to you. You changed my life.

Billy: You changed my life. For the better. Across the board.

Chelsea: Oh. Well, enough about me.

Billy: There you go.

Chelsea: Enough about me. I want to hear about you. What is going on in that head of yours?

Billy: Ooh. Hm… you really want to go there? I don’t know if you, uh, if you can handle that.

Chelsea: Oh, I can handle it. Tell me everything.

Traci: Believe me, I didn’t want to keep this from you any longer than I had to. I honestly thought it would be better for you to be here, surrounded by family when you heard what I learned.

Ashley: Why? Why did you think that I’m so fragile that I’m not going to be able to handle this?

Traci: We all need each other. There is nothing weak in that. Besides, I wanted you as far away from that place as possible. It’s why I tried to talk you into coming home with me right away. Ashley, I thought the family family could discuss the ramifications of all this.

Ashley: Okay, the only ramifications here is that it proves the lengths that tucker will go to to make me think that I’m imagining things. I mean, clearly, he has taken gaslighting to a completely different level. Who does that? Would you please stop looking at each other like that? Just stop it! You’re trying to make me think I’m wrong! I’m not wrong! He’s gaslighting me, but clearly he’s gotten to you. You guys know what he’s capable of! Why are you doubting me? Skin-carving next level hydration?

Ashley: Okay. How hard woulde an entire restaurant staff? It wouldn’t be hard at all. Second nature for him. And easy money for them.

Jack: No one is doubting that it’s possible. I think what traci’s trying to say is that–

Ashley: I think traci can speak for herself.

Traci: I can. I offered them even more money. The entire bistro staff. I know. It’s awful and it’s outrageous. And for you, I did it anyway. I offered them twice as much as tucker had paid them, if they would just tell the truth. All they had to do was say that they had been bribed. And do you know what, ashley? Not one person took it. Because they refused to lie.

Ashley: Are you done? Because that’S… sorry, it’s just not that amazing. I mean, obviously, he paid them a lot of money.

Traci: Well, why would they take his money and not take mine? Tucker would never find out. What do they have to gain for lying for him?

Ashley: I don’t know, traci. He’s powerful. He threatened them. He’s rich. They caved. It happens.

Traci: All of those people, they were so believable. Not one of them was nervous or– or intimidated. You, on the other hand, had a flicker of doubt when we talked to that first waiter. When he said that there was no violence, you got this look on your face, like you were remembering something. Not the something that you have told us about.

Ashley: Oh, really? I got a flicker? Come on. I don’t doubt anything now and I didn’t doubt anything then. I can’t believe you’re taking tucker’s side. I can’t believe this is happening. I– I– I– I’m just being let down by my family in– in the most painful way.

Audra: You’re going to have to do a lot more than cross the street to avoid running into ashley in this town. You know, think about it. Neither of us has a kitchen in our suite, which means we eat out on a regular basis. So, unless you want to have room service for every meal, we are bound to run into your ex plenty.

Tucker: That’s a possibility.

Audra: No, definitely. You know, every day will be another reminder. And every time we run into ashley, I’ll see the love-hate written all over your face. And each time, I’ll trust you less and less. I’ll constantly be questioning where your true heart lies.

Tucker: You know what we should do? We should buy our own restaurant. Yeah, just get a private chef and one table. One lone, candle-lit table for two.

Audra: Yeah, a very practical solution. You know, I can see you’re taking this very seriously.

Tucker: Well, I am serious. You know I would do it happily. Just to make you happy. Anything and everything you want.

Audra: But I do, you know, I get it.

Tucker: What?

Audra: You know, I can see how you’d be sick of ashley’s constant accusations. To be quite honest, I’m sick of her too. Let’s not argue about ashley anymore, okay?

Tucker: Yes, please.

Audra: You know, but I can’t help wondering what she learned in paris. You know, from that tense run-in with her sister, it seems there’s no avoiding the truth anymore. You know, maybe that’ll shut down ashley for good now.

Billy: What’s going on in my head? Let’s see. Um, oh yeah, I had a very interesting, not interesting, typically abrasive encounter with tucker at the gcac.

Chelsea: Really? What was he so abrasive about this time?Bly: This guy, he’s– he’s– he’s incredible, you know? He– he feels like he has the right to ask about my sister’s whereabouts after everything that he’s done to her, after the way that he’s treated her. Took everything in me not to reach across the bar and deck him. You know, he’s like, “did it ever occur to you that ashley’s the one coming after me? You know, she went to paris to find dirt on– on me. I’m trying to, I don’t want to know where she is so she doesn’t come, so I can steer clear of her.” Something to that effect. And of course, I called him out on being a victim. “I’m not a victim. I’ve never been a victim. But I’m always prepared if someone tries to make me one.”

[ Chelsea laughing ] He did say something to me as he walked away, something that stuck with me.

Chelsea: Oh, what was that?

Billy: He accused me of being power-hungry. And he would actually enjoy watching me pull jabot into chancellor-winters.

Chelsea: Oh, well that’s crazy. I mean, you would never try something like that, right? Try to take over your family’s company from the outside?

Victor: What’s the confession you have to make?

Nikki: I bought a bottle of vodka. The pull was too great and I couldn’t resist.

Victoria: Mom, I hate that you’re going through that. It’s terrible. But it’s really good that you’re– you’re telling us.

Nikki: And then I heard somebody coming, so I hid it in here. But when I came back to look for it, it was gone.

Victor: Sweetheart, I had our staff make a sweep of the whole house, okay? I had them remove every bottle of booze.

Nikki: I understand why you did that, but I have to do this on my own. Getting rid of all the alcohol in the house is just a short-term solution. I need to do the work. I– I need to build the strength to resist it, but I’m not there yet.

Victoria: No one’s pushing you.

Victor: Sweetheart, you’ll be all right. I promise you.

Nikki: Thank you for understanding. And victor, thank you for understanding about jack. All right, good night.

Victoria: Good night, mom. Get some rest.

Nikki: Good night.

Victoria: What did she mean by that? Thanking you for understanding about jack?

Victor: Well, she asked jack abbott to be her sponsor. And although I don’t like the idea at all, I went along with it because your mother is obviously very fragile right now. My mom’s alzheimer’s never changed how much we love her.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Victoria: Jack is mom’s sponsor now?

Victor: I was worried about your mother, so I had my men follow her. They found her on the outskirts of town. At some dive.

Victoria: Oh, no. Was she there drinking alone?

Victor: Yeah. Meanwhile, jack abbott informed me that he had become your mother’s sponsor after that first guy, seth, fell off the wagon himself.

Victoria: So, mom asked jack to take over?

Victor: Yeah.

Victoria: So, he’s the one who told you about this, and not mom?

Victor: Yeah. He and I went out there to find her.

Victoria: Daddy, how bad was she?

Victor: Ah, she was passed out at a table.

Victoria: Oh, no.

[ Victoria sighing ] For her to go this far. In public, no less.

Victor: Yep. But don’t you worry about it. I made sure that the incident was kept quiet. But you know, the long and the short of it is that jack abbott allowed her to drink herself into oblivion.

Victoria: Daddy, it’s not fair to blame jack. I mean, did he even know where mom was when he called you?

Victor: What difference does that make? He covered for her anyway.

Victoria: Look, I know that. But look, if mom asked jack to keep his sponsorship quiet, he was just protecting her wishes, that’s all.

Victor: Sweetheart, the responsibility of a sponsor is to keep her from drinking.

Jack: Ashley, no one here is taking tucker’s side on this or anything else.

Ashley: It seems like you definitely are. And it’s so incredibly, incredibly painful to think that you would believe him over me.

Jack: That is simply not the case. Whatever happened in paris doesn’t matter. As long as whatever happened propelled you to end this marriage and walk away from tucker for good.

Traci: No, jack, I’m sorry, but I disagree. What happened in paris, the truth is the most important thing.

Jack: No, the most important thing is it opened ashley’s eyes.

Ashley: The most important thing is that I’m being betrayed by my family. Can’t you see that?

Traci: No, ashley, no. We love you. We just want to help you move on from this.

Ashley: Move on from what? From all these lies and– and betrayal that is coming at me from all sides? I came home with– I thought I was going to get your love and support, you know? And instead, I’m just being attacked with accusations and suspicions. Are you questioning my sanity? Is that what’s happening here? Oh, oh, my god.

Jack: Ash.

Traci: No, ashley, please don’t go. Wait just a minute.

Jack: Ash, wait.

Diane: Guys, just let her go and maybe calm down a little bit. The last thing we need is to make matters worse. That’s why I didn’t say anything. But now I’ve got to ask, what– what was the point of all that?

Billy: Going after jabot is out there thinking. Not even something that I would consider doing.

Chelsea: Then why did tucker’s comments stick with you so much?

Billy: Well, he made me think about my relationship with chancellor-winters.

Chelsea: How so?

Billy: My mother, jill abbott, brought me over there in the co-ceo position so I could represent her interest in the c-suite. In a company that she owns half of, yet she’s– she’s not in the corporate name.

Chelsea: So, what’s your point?

Billy: Again, going after jabot, that seems pointless. But I do believe that abbott should have more of a representation in the chancellor-winters corporate name.

Chelsea: So, what are you saying? You want to change the name?

Billy: Not change it. Add to it. I think part of the reason why my mother feels so isolated is because she’s not properly represented.

Chelsea: And you’re thinking…

Billy: I think, in all fairness, the company should be called abbott-winters. Who says you can’t go for bold

Chelsea: What about the chancellor name? I mean, that’s the company’s root. The core of it all, right? Not to mention it’s a lasting tribute to the grand dame, kay chancellor.

Billy: Yeah, no, you got a point there. What about, um, what about acw? Abbott, chancellor, winters.

Chelsea: Hm… can we get back to this brain of yours? I have a feeling this isn’t just about representing jill. This is about you too, isn’t it? You want to stake a claim on this company.

Victor: I mean, regardless of how I feel about jack abbott’s involvement, I didn’t argue with your mother, given her fragile state.

Victoria: So, you’ve accepted jack’s role in helping mom?

Victor: It’s what she wants.

Victoria: I think that that’s probably the right call to make.

Victor: Yeah. But I told him if there’s no significant progress, it’s over.

Victoria: What if she doesn’t improve? Do you think we ought to consider rehab?

Victor: I’ve thought about that. But, you know, given the possibility that jordan woman is out there, I’d rather have her here at home.

Victoria: Oh, yeah. I understand that. But speaking of jordan, has there been any news at all? I mean, do you think that it’s possible that she’s out there somewhere, plotting revenge? I mean, what if– what if she is the one making those calls to mom?

[ Victor sighing ]

Nikki: No. No! No!

[ Nikki panting ]

Diane: Listen, the issue isn’t what happened in paris. The most important thing is that ashley has finally broken free of tucker. That’s what matters most.

Jack: That’s what I was trying to impress on her.

Diane: Yes, but she wasou finally got to that, she couldn’t even hear it.

Traci: What are you trying to say, diane? That we are wrong to have tried to get to the truth with our sister?

Diane: No, that’s not what I was saying at all.

Traci: Oh, good. Because I have seen firsthand this is tearing her apart. And for whatever reason, she will not let it drop.

Jack: Look, tucker’s denial has clearly rattled her.

Traci: Jack, listen to me. I am so worried about her. I’m– I’m afraid that something else is going on. Her recollection of things, it’s confused, to say the least. That’s why I wanted us all together so that we could help her try to make some sense of this. So that she can go on with her life.

Diane: Yes, but it only made matters worse. Now, ashley is even more upset. You saw that. Look, I know the two of you are really worried about her, but what just happened was completely counterproductive.

Traci: Oh, diane.

Jack: We just– we just need to give ashley some time, some space. Just as diane suggested. And traci, you’re right. I don’t know if tucker is playing her and it’s getting to her or if she is truly confused about what actually happened to her. Either way, it is tearing her apart.

Traci: Yes, jack. And there is only one thing that is going to help ashley move forward and let all this go. That is for ashley to find out the truth, whatever that may be, so that tucker can’t use it against her anymore.

Tucker: Frankly, I don’t care what’s going on with ashley. My focus is now entirely on you.

Audra: Does that mean I now have your full attention?

Tucker: Every bit of it. I’m sorry, audra.

Audra: For what?

Tucker: How blind I’ve been. All this time I thought it was her, I thought it was ashley. What was good and true in my life. I just couldn’t see it. It was you. All this time. You’re my best friend. It’s you.

[ Banging on door ]

Ashley: Tucker! It’s ashley! Open the door!

[ Banging on door ] Damn it! Open the door!

Rsv is out there.

Billy: I really feel like I’m finding my groove. It’s been great, and you know, it’s nice to be back. And of course, there’s pressure, but it’s the good kind of pressure. It’s not like jabot where I feel like I have to constantly prove myself to jack. You know, I’m really building a future here, and I like it.

Chelsea: Great. Sounds like you made the right move then.

Billy: I think so. You know, most of my life, I’ve tried to protect my father’s legacy. The best thing about this is this is about my mother. She’s asked me to be her eyes and ears and protect her stake. What better way to do that than to put her name, her legacy, on the letterhead?

Chelsea: Hm… well, is that gonna fly with lily and devon? Granted, jill owns 50% of the company, but sharing the letterhead with a third name?

Billy: But that’s my point. My mother is committed to this company, and this is about protecting her legacy. It’s not about me, you know? This isn’t a power grab. It’s not about me seeing my name up in lights.

Chelsea: Absolutely. I mean, you have to admit, it is a little convenient, though. I mean, you do share the same name.

Billy: Well, yeah. She’s my mother. The more I think about this, the more I think it’s the right thing to do. She’s earned it. She deserves it.

Victor: Unfortunately, there’s no news about jordan’s whereabouts. Cheers.

Victoria: So, it could be her calling mom?

Victor: Yeah.

Victoria: You know, claire said something disturbing today.

Victor: What’s that?

Victoria: When we were discussing the fire, she said that jordan once said something about if things ever got chancy, that fire makes a wonderful distraction. Or something along those lines.

Victor: Oh, boy. Oh, boy, oh, boy. Well, I will soon know who perished in that fire and who survived.

Victoria: What if jordan’s not accounted for?

Victor: A nightmare. But I assure you that I will do everything in my power to make certain that she does not come near this house.

Jack: Nikki, where are you? You okay?

Nikki: Yeah, I’m home. I’m safe. I just wanted to let you know that I’m not angry at you for telling victor. I– I understand why you felt you had to do that.

Jack: I’m glad to hear that. He needed to know.

Nikki: This is the worst day I’ve had since this whole nightmare started. And I’m really worried that I’m not gonna be able to overcome it.

Jack: Hey, don’t talk like that. One step at a time, remember? And I’m your sponsor. Victor knows that. There’s no need to hide it.

Nikki: Yeah, that’s a relief.

Jack: I can come to the ranch any time you need me. Just call. Listen to me, you’re not gonna give up. I’m not going to let you. You are going to win this fight.

Nikki: I need help.

Jack: I know. And I’m here for you whenever you need me. Just call.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

well, he’s in better spirits today. Yeah. Me too. I, uh — I’m really glad that he was able to sleep through the night. Poor little baby has been shuttled between so many different homes, and he’s not even a year yet. You will give him all the love and stability he needs.

[ Knock on door ] Oh. I’ll get it. Here. Okay. There you go.

[Straining] Oh, my, goodness.

[ Laughs ]

[ Grunts ] Ahh. Hiya, baby sister, how are you? Marty! -I’m good. -There he is! There he is! Uncle marty! Apologies for coming over, uh, unannounced, you know. Oh. That’s okay. What brings you by? I-I’ve got some very important paperwork for you. It concerns your — your grandson. This is a nice surprise. May I join you? Uh, y-yeah. I suppose I can handle another cup of coffee before I start packing. Today is my last day living at the metro court. Oh, I hope you’re not moving back to the west coast. No. I’m moving in with finn. Yeah, it seemed like the thing to do, considering. Congratulations. Not only will you be living with your adorable granddaughter, but finn is a decent backgammon player. You won’t be bored.

[ Both laugh ] That is all the dough you’re gonna get out of me. -Mnh! -Ohh! Could you two guys be a little less conspicuous, please? You’re gonna frighten my customers. Sorry. Sonny just wants you to have extra security right now. Yeah, but you and frank? Both of you? I think that’s a little excessive, don’t you? Trina! Hey. Is everything okay? Oh. Yeah. Yeah. What are you doing here? Um, I’m just all cried out. I need a distraction. I know that you hired someone else, but — you can — you can come back here anytime. You know that. You know, I’m putting up a new show, and I would really love your input. Okay. Don’t worry, boss, I’ve got eyes on him. Good. Don’t let him out of your sight. You — you found something on dex? Yeah. You’re gonna want to hear this. Yes! You seem very excited and happy today. Oh, my god. I was so unsure about taking over the role as editor in chief, but since I saved the prinzer & golden account, I feel like I’m coming into my groove! I mean, we came up with the best ideas last night. I knew you could do it. You are gonna be the best editor crimson has ever seen. Okay. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, alright? I still have to get the first issue out. But from what I’ve seen, it’s gonna be great.

You’re great. Aww. Uh… what the hell?!

Hey, hey. Don’t worry. Wiley’s off to school. Amelia’s been fed. Actually, she drank from the sippy cup. I think she’s starting to get used to it. You did all that? Mm. Why didn’t you wake me up? I figured you could use an extra hour before work. Here you go. Wow. It is so nice when someone else makes the coffee. Yeah, you are so not a morning person. Guilty. I did not mean to pass out down here last night. Where did you sleep? On the chair. It’s not the first time. I used to — I used to sleep there when you were sick. You took such good care of me. Yeah, well, you paid me back by getting better. It was really nice having you here last night. Yeah. I liked it, too. -Are you crazy? -Tracy, are you okay? She’s a lunatic! I always knew she’d go off the deep end someday. Oh, goody. Floor show’s about to start!

[ Laughs ] That’s our cue to cut this date short, as pleasant as it has been. Date? I misspoke. I rarely associate omelets and toast with dates. But listen. Before we go… a colleague gifted to me two tickets to the port charles metropolitan ballet. Are you interested? I’m really not much into the ballet scene. Um, try alexis. Well, I confess. I asked alexis first. She’s booked. I’ll try not to be too insulted. I could have picked a more opportune time, I suppose. Gregory chase was in her office, still mad at me that I argued the malpractice suit against his son. The hell’s the matter with you? Oh, just be grateful. It could have been a lot worse. Because this — this friend of yours has systematically destroyed my life. Oh, please. I gave you an out. Thanks to my kind companion, I went to martin and I explained that I had been misleading him and that you, in fact, were true blue. Oh, gee! Thank you. Well, your change of heart came just a little too late. Too late for what? Oh! [ Laughs ] This is rich. Am I missing something? You did really sleep with scott baldwin.

[ Laughs ] I took the liberty of, uh, doing up the paperwork for your petition before I left. And the forms are all ready for you, baby sister. Whenever you make that decision, you just put down your john hancock.

[ Chuckles ] A petition for what? Well, to — to legally adopt ace. Who the hell is in charge here?! It’s not safe. You shouldn’t be here. This is my office! What the hell is going on?! I got this, aldo. I got this. Go on about your business. Thank you. I appreciate you. Nina. What the hell is happening? I am so very, very sorry. There was a flood a few floors above, and it leaked into the walls last night. The building notified all the employees on the floor to stay home today. You didn’t get that? Aurora has got a lease. You can’t come in here and rip out all of our offices. Well, check the lease because as owner of the metro court, I am allowed to address all safety and health matters. See, the construction team needs to get into the walls to repair the damage, and, more importantly, they needed to dry up the water to prevent the mold from spreading. And, obviously, some of the fiber-optic cables needed to be temporarily replaced. So the internet on the floor is down. But not to worry — because this isn’t a long-term project. The crew should be out of here in three days or so. And the deadline for my first issue is tomorrow. But then again, you knew that, didn’t you? You remember I did an in-depth background check on dex last year — came back clean. But now it seems dex came into a huge windfall — twice in the last year from some untraceable shell corporation. Twice? When were these payments? The first one was right after you were attacked last march. The second one was just last week. The day after you and ava were targeted on your island.

I think there must be some mistake. Kevin and I were only going to watch ace until nikolas gets out of jail. Baby sister, come on. Nikolas confessed to kidnapping. It’s gonna be quite some time before he’s even eligible for parole. I’ve already been talking to him about ceding his parental claim to you. You what?! Yeah. Don’t forget — heather webber and her brother has ties to this little guy. I did see heather at esme’s grave. She is interested in ace. Oh, my gosh. So… cyrus got out of jail early. If heather, god forbid, managed to do the s– exactly. God forbid. Now, you would most likely win if they ever decided to challenge your guardianship, but I think the wisest course of action is for you to have permanent custody, and the best way to do that is for you to officially become ace’s parent of record.

[ Laughs ] Ooh, I love it when I’m right! I am right about you, lucy coe. You cannot resist scott baldwin. Just shh! Just zip it! Do you want to announce that to every single person in the restaurant? Do you think anyone would be surprised? You have been having your tawdry affair with scott on the installment plan. A few years on, a few years off, and now you’re back on. How long have you been sleeping with scott? I haven’t! I haven’T. Well, I-I mean, since marty and I broke up. Well, I am not responsible for your rebound choices. You, however, are definitely responsible for my dry-cleaning bill. But you are responsible for orchestrating all — all of this. You had scott romance me with the intention of swindling me out of my deception shares. And now you’re whining because I paid you back. Perhaps you could afford to be gracious in victory. Really? Hm. I like gloating.

[ Chuckles ] Okay. If you insist. If martin is open to it, I would be willing to try to mend fences. Fat chance. He is sending all my calls to voicemail. Actually, I-I spoke with martin this morning to thank him for his help with finn, and he mentioned he was going to his sister’s to drop off some — laura. Perfect. She will know exactly how to make marty forgive me. Thank you. Ta. “Ta”? Oof! Scott baldwin was romancing you? I said he tried. Only lucy coe would think that he had a prayer of succeeding. And you’re immune to mr. Baldwin’s charms?

[ Laughs ] Charms? Um… once, in a spectacular moment of bad judgment, I did get close to scott. How close? Close. Blame it on the ’90s. The good news is, I learned my lesson. Obviously, lucy never will. How many of wiley’s magic tricks did you sit through last night? Uh, four. But he is getting really good with the ball one. I know, right? Yeah. It was good having you home last night. It — it felt right.

[ Knock on door ] Hi. Hi. I’m so sorry to interrupt. I was on my way to see dex, and I found this in the car.

[ Willow gasps ]Amelia’s lovey. There it is! Thank you so much, joss. Yeah. I, uh — I have to get ready for work, but michael can make you some coffee if you want. Okay? Okay. Well? Well, you want some coffee? No. I want the tea. Spill, please. What, y-you spent the night last night? Are things back to normal? Yeah, well, we’re taking it a day at a time. There’s still a long way to go, but, yeah, we’re — we’re making progress. Oh, I’m so happy for you guys. And the kids. Nina is not worth you two fighting. Yeah, I agree. God, I just can’t wait for sonny to divorce nina so she is out of our lives. Yeah. I mean, I saw sonny actually yesterday. I have no idea what he’s gonna do about nina. Well, how was that, seeing sonny? Well, we talked, and I think things are better. Okay. Good. When there’s friction between you and sonny, it freaks me out ’cause I think it makes things more dangerous for dex.

[ Gasps ] Oh, no! Take it easy. I got it. I’m thinking the shell corporation was created with the sole purpose of funneling… money to dex. I don’t know who set it up yet, but it sure tells a story. Dex gets paid to tip them off to your location, your enemies, and, of course, to highlight your vulnerabilities. Why would he do this to josslyn? Maybe he used josslyn to get closer to you. It’s genuine. Maybe josslyn disapproves of his life with you. Yeah. She does. So it could be that dex is trying to get out of this life with her. What better way to avoid a bullet from you than to set you up to take one? Kerendia presents… the abcs of ckd a is for awareness, because knowing that your chronic kidney disease in type 2 diabetes could progress to dialysis is important. B is for belief that there may be more you can do. Just remember that k is for kidneys and kerendia. For adults living with ckd in type 2 diabetes, kerendia is proven to reduce the risk of kidney failure, which can lead to dialysis. Kerendia is a once-daily tablet that treats ckd differently than type 2 diabetes medications to help slow the progression of kidney damage and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks. Do not take kerendia if you have problems with your adrenal glands or take certain medications called cyp3a4 inhibitors. Kerendia can cause hyperkalemia, which is high potassium levels in your blood. Ask your doctor before taking products containing potassium. Kerendia can also cause low blood pressure and low sodium levels. So now that you know your abcs, don’t wait. Kidney damage from ckd in t2d is not reversible. So ask your doctor about slowing your kidney damage with kerendia.

Ou’re not insinuatingthat I’m trying to sabotage your next issue of crimson. I’m not insinuating anything. I’m accusing you. This has you written all over it. I am surprised that you would jeopardize the jobs of your former employees, you know, the ones that you claim to care so much about. The editors have backups of all their articles, templates, and spreads on the cloud. I’m sorry. You don’t know this? Yes, I know that. But coordinating all the backups from around the cloud would make us lose a day’s work, easy! Which means the issue will be late to the printers, which is exactly what you intended. My focus is on the hotel. I’m just wanting what’s best for the metro court. Really? So if I talk to olivia, the other owner of the metro court, is she gonna back up your story? I have authority to sanction emergency construction. Now, olivia could disagree and she could overrule me, but the process has already begun. It could take a few days or even more to get all the offices back together, even if we stopped. It’s certainly not cost-effective. So I think we all know it’s best to just let the repairs play out, and then you can come back when it’s all done. When it’s all done. I think I’ve heard enough. You will be hearing from my lawyer. Until then, i have a magazine to put out. Good luck! You go ahead. I, uh — I need to have a word with nina. Alright. Well… I will call you later. You keep playing with fire. See where it gets you. You really think doc finn capable of negligence? Mnh-mnh. But…it wasn’t my place to decide that. It was my job to present the strongest argument possible that dr. Hamilton finn was guilty of negligence and let the jury decide. Of course, the jury was never allowed to deliberate, so we’ll never know if my argument was convincing or not. Fair enough. The rule of law doesn’t always make for winning friends. Come on. You must have come up against that, certainly. Where you have the evidence to convict, but your gut is telling you that the defendant just might be innocent. Unfortunately, yeah. It’s happened. Where an innocent person has been played out in a system that’s not always fair. Well, maybe you and i together can try to make the system a little more fair. One day at a time. I’m so sorry I broke the stretcher! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to do it! It’s not a problem. It’s why we have insurance, honey. Dex, please take that to the back room. My assistant will send it out for repair. You got it, ms. Jerome. Thank you. You see that? Crisis is finished. But it’s not, ava! I can’t stop — I can’t stop crying! It’s like everything I see, everything I hear reminds me of spencer. And it’s like I’m losing him all over again! And there’s a pit in my stomach. And I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe. I’m gasping for air. I don’t know how to live with this feeling. I can’t live with this feeling. I wish it was me who died instead of him. Don’t say things like that. I-I know the feeling, you know? And… when kiki died, I, um — I was in so much pain… that I didn’t want to live. Now, I would have done absolutely anything to trade places with her… to die so that she could live. But she was gone. And I was here. And I realized that I needed to stay here for avery. Sweetheart, just like you need to stay here for your mom and for curtis. You have such a strong, wonderful family, and they’re gonna get you through this, okay? And, truthfully, I’m — I’m forever grateful to spencer that he — that he did what he did. So you could live. Because you are here with me. And you and my avery, you girls are everything to me, sweetheart. Everything to me. I mean, I guess this is the obvious next step. It’s just that I hadn’t even considered it before. -Hm. -What did nikolas say? Who do you think gave me the permission to start the paperwork? Really? Hm. Just be honest, baby sister. Is this not something you want to consider? I’m not saying that. It’s just a lot to think about, you know? I know, but like I say, I just wanted to make sure that you were set up, you know? So the paperwork is right there. And, you know, when you make that decision, you want to cross that bridge, you got everything you need. Anyway, you’re gonna have to forgive me. I have to get out of here if I’m gonna make my flight. Now, I will be out of port charles for a while. I’m only a phone call away. Lord knows I’ll come back if you need me. Okay. I love you. Thank you so much. I love you. Travel safely. Alright?

[ Door opens ] Ah. So?

[ Door closes ] So… what are your thoughts? Well, everything my brother said makes a whole lot of sense. It would be better for little ace to have a permanent parent instead of a temporary guardian. But this is not just my decision to make. If you want to adopt him, I’m totally on board. No, kevin. We would adopt him. Together.

Hey. Ah. Is ace down for his nap? Yeah. Thankfully. Did I interrupt a call? No, I’m just moving around some appointments at the hospital so we can talk. Oh, I hate that you have to rearrange your schedule. This is so much more important. And it came completely out of the blue. But, kevin, I can’t imagine doing this without you. Which is why we need to spend some time with it. So…

[ Knock on door ] I’ll get it. Lucy! Hey, laura. Is it okay if I come in, please? Uh, yeah. Thank you. Um, I — I was so sorry to hear about spencer. It’s unbelievably tragic. I’m sorry. Thank you. Um, I was just wondering if — if martin’s around. I heard he was here. Uh, martin left just a little while ago. Darn it. You know, I need to catch up with him, and he’s avoiding all my phone calls. Do you know where he went, any chance? Uh, he said that he was going to visit his mother and that he was gonna be gone a while. What? He — he’s just leaving like that without even saying goodbye? Ohh. I cannot believe that tracy quartermaine did this to me! Okay. I did it. I did it to me. Like I always do, right? I just thought this time was different. I thought I was different. Why do I do this? Why do I always sabotage the very best things that happen to me? Maybe I just don’t deserve to be happy, right? That’s it. That’s ridiculous. Everyone deserves to be happy. Life is too short. Okay. Listen. Marty was just here, and — and after here, he was going straight to the airport. If you hurry up, you might be able to catch him before he gets on the plane. O-okay. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you, thank you. -Thank you. -You’re welcome. Ohh! Was that a little foolish maybe? [ Laughs ] No. That was generous. Which is exactly what I expect, because that’s who you are. Now, where were we before we were so rudely interrupted? Breaking story? Uh, no. Uh, it’s from finn. The move is on for this evening. Need any help? No, I just have a few things. Books, papers. Stuff like that. Figures. So, what brought this on? You know how fond I am of finn, but his place has limited space. I’ll manage. As to what brought this on, um, I’m starting to feel a little irresponsible living on my own. Especially since I’m trying to make it to the big wedding. No. Don’T. Don’t do that, please. Don’t do what? You’re the one person in my life who doesn’t give me that look. So don’t start now, please. I-I don’t want your pity. I don’t pity you. But I do know you, I think, a little. And I think you have reservations about this move, am I right? I don’t like depending on anyone, not even my family. And I know finn’s just trying to help, but I hate the idea of giving up my own agency. It’s been my greatest fear ever since I was diagnosed. I know at a certain point I’m — I’m not gonna have control over what my body does or even what happens to me. And the move? Forcing me to face that reality…

[ Sighs ] …Feels like this may be the first part of my final chapter. Diane, I’m so sorry to interrupt, but your assistant told me you’d be here. I need to talk to you. It’s an emergency. Ah. There goes the ballet tickets. I’ll be out of here. Don’t you move. What’s up, carly? I’ll give you three guesses on who’s trying to sabotage crimson. And the first two don’t count. I want all these walls checked. I mean, it’s better to replace all of them than have the mold spreading, right? Thank you, aldo. Get back to me as soon as you can. Was that your lawyer on the phone? Well, that’s a waste of time, ’cause everything I just did right now was completely legal, so don’t bother threatening me with a lawsuit. You made the choice to escalate. You’re gonna have to live with the fallout, nina. Well, it can’t be any worse than what has already happened to me. I lost my husband, my family, and my magazine. Sure, I regret some of the things that I’ve done. I have made mistakes — just like the rest of you. But I don’t understand why I continually have to pay for pointing out a crime that you and carly have committed. I am through with the injustice and the indignity of being the pariah. Legally, I did nothing wrong. But I am telling you this. I am not going to take it lying down anymore. Did you go to prison, nina? You don’t know the meaning of indignity and injustice. But believe me. You will. It’s not like dex is working for sonny against his will. I mean, he insists that he’s found purpose in sonny’s organization. Okay. Don’t remind me. Please. Just — there’s something else. This arrangement with dex, it’s gotten — it’s gotten more important lately. Um, dex is keeping everybody in our family safe. What does that mean? Things have gotten more dangerous lately. What are you talking about? The shooting in puerto rico? Yeah, well, the fact that somebody got to my dad on the island. And somehow they were apparently able to bypass security — means that they have inside access. Okay, so you’re saying it’s someone inside sonny’s organization? Sometimes the simplest explanation is true, that someone that sonny trusts sold him out. Has he made any calls? Sent any texts? Alright. I-I’ll be in touch. According to frank, dex is just doing his job, protecting ava. He’s not jumpy. He’s just… look, sonny. I was just presenting a theory. Yeah, but you’ve got a — a lot of evidence. So look. What are we going to do about this?

-Hey. -Oh, you got my text. Great. I was just telling diane how nina’s trying to undermine crimson — again. Great. Great. Tell me how we can strike back a-and teach nina not to mess with us. Yeah. This really does sound like my cue. I’ll talk to you later. Goodbye. It’s probably for the best. Any discussion about retaliation should be kept between attorney and client privilege, right? Carly: No one’s talking about retaliation. I just want to get our offices open as soon as possible so we can get the issue out on time. So that nina can sabotage the next issue? No, we got to shut her down! We can’t focus on nina. We can’t do that. If she’s a distraction, she’s getting what she wants. We need to think about the magazine.

Your magazine. Okay. Um… yeah. You — you do that. I just — I just need to take a break.

[ Sighs ] Why do I get the feeling that your frustration isn’t just with nina, that it’s also with drew? I’m really sorry about the painting. Ava: Mnh. I thought I was ready to come back to work, but I guess not. This grief. The sadness. Is it ever gonna go away? No. But it dulls, and somehow you get used to it. And between your mom and curtis and marshall and stella and me… we’re gonna get you through it, honey. Count on it. It’s peppermint and chamomile. Joss swears it helps calm her down, so I figured it was worth a try. Ava: Thank you. Trina: Thanks, dex. Let’s go. Wait. What? We’re supposed to watch ava. Change of plan. Well, if there’s a traitor inside sonny’s organization, then dex is in danger, correct? I don’t know. The thing is…um… everything okay? Yeah. Um, actually, I am meeting trina at the gallery, but it was so great to see you. Good to see you, too. Good to see you. And, um, we’ll just talk soon, okay? Michael: Alright. Uh…

[ Door closes ] Not that you asked, but, uh, joss and i were discussing a family matter concerning sonny. Is it something I need to know about for the kids’ safety? I don’t know. Look, if it becomes something that you need to know, I promise you, willow, I will tell you. Although you have every right not to believe me. Of course I believe you. Um, hi. Um, my boyfriend is on the flight to raleigh-durham, and I really need to get to him, and they won’t let me through security without a boarding pass. But I have to tell him something. Ma’am, they won’t let you through security without a boarding pass. Okay. I have to apologize. So just let me run down there. I won’t delay the flight. You can send a little guard with me. You can’t get through security without a ticket. Woman on P.A.: Passengers for flight 403 nonstop to raleigh-durham, we will begin boarding shortly. O-okay. Fine. I-I will buy a ticket. What’s the next flight? Uh, where would you like to go? We have a flight for bora bora, bangor, duluth? Ew. No. Not — not duluth. You know, they were so rude to me. I lost an earring at a coecoe cosmetics convention, and they were just not helpful at all. Duluth it is.

[ Chuckles ] Kevin, I know you didn’t sign up for this — I mean, you know, the idea of having a child. And having a baby at our age… it’s gonna be a daunting task. You’re right. For both of us. You’ve been a parent. You know what it takes.

[ Chuckles ] For me, outside of a brief stint as a step-parent with lucy, I… this would be a new experience for me. Yeah. I mean, if we become the parents of record, then ace will grow up with us. He will rely on us. It’s a huge responsibility. If you — if you have any hesitation, you should say so now.

Look who’s up from the shortest nap ever.

[ Both chuckle ] Alright, laura. You asked for the truth. So…here it is. I have never felt more a part of a family than I have since I married you. And I’ve seen your capacity for love and your children and your grandchildren and… your love for me has opened my heart in ways I never imagined. But… adopting a child at this stage of our lives is…complicated. Yeah, it’s a little crazy. Yeah. Yeah. But it feels right.

[ Gasps ] It feels like us. So like us. And if this is what you want, then I’m in. And I mean I’m all-in. What do you think? What do you think? Welcome home, little baby. Oh, I think he approves. I think he does.

[ Beeping ] Marty! Wait! Marty! He’s gone. I’m too late. He’s really gone. You have a lot of decisions you’re gonna have to make about your future, some sooner rather than later. But moving in with your family doesn’t have to be something that holds you back. I… come and go time and time again. But I always end up back at monica’S. Why? Because… as much as every single person in that house infuriates me… …living under the same roof with them, it — it feels like… home? Home. Look, I can’t blame drew for hating nina and wanting revenge after everything that she has done to him, but what I want — I want that parasite out of my life. Well, that’s easier said than done. Nina has considerable resources, and she’s obviously willing to devote all of them to undermining you. I know. And I’m — I’m still grieving my mom. And the last thing I want is to keep up a war with someone I truly don’t care anything about. And every move that drew makes to go after nina, it just keeps pulling me back into her twisted orbit. I want a list of everybody that’s done business with aurora that may be interested in working with nina reeves. It’s time that we draw a line in the sand. Aldo, how long will it take to put all this back together? We’re making good progress. We could be done… another day or two. Oh, no, no, no. That won’t do.

[Chuckling] Not at all. I want you to take all the time you need to make sure that this job is done correctly. Understood? I believe you regret the way you handled things. And I believe you wanted to protect us. And that’s why you did what you did. Yeah, but I — willow, I should have trusted that you could handle it. I mean, we’re always so much stronger when we’re together. I’m sorry I forgot that. And I appreciate you giving me the space I needed to process everything. But last night, having you here felt right. And I’m not saying I’m ready for everything to go back to the way it was. There are still things we have to work out, but… maybe you don’t go back to the main house. What if you come home… for good? That — that would mean the world to me, willow. A-are you sure that’s what you want? I’m willing to try, if you are. Okay. I’ve really got to go or I’m gonna be late. Michael: Okay. See you later. I’ll be home.

[ Door closes ]

[ Exhales heavily ] Josslyn: Trina. Hi. How’s it going?

[ Sighs ] I think I might have came back to work a little too soon. Oh. Sorry. Something smells really good. What is that? Is that peppermint tea? Yeah. Your boyfriend made it for us. Oh. Dex is here? Oh, he was. Just missed him. He seemed to have left in a hurry. Get in. Boss. What’s going on? How about you and I go for a little ride? <

[Relaxing music]

Ridge: Get her here when you can. Oh. All right, I will. Thank you. Man, last night was one for the record books, huh?

Brooke: Yes, it was.

Ridge: Oh, I’m not talking about dad’s party.

Brooke: Oh.

Ridge: Oh.

Brooke: Yeah. But I am thrilled for donna and eric. They got engaged and then they got married.

Ridge: I’m happy for dad. Everything he went through.

Brooke: And in one magical night, all of donna’s dreams came true.

Ridge: That’s my dad. The master of romance, like I said.

Brooke: Hmm. Well, you’re not so bad yourself.

Ridge: No?

Brooke: No.

Poppy: Where are my mints?

[ Knocking on door ] Li, please, do come in. Make yourself at home. Well, you’re the last person I expected.

Li: Well, I had to see it for myself. Where you lure and seduce helpless, older, but very wealthy men.

Poppy: Oh.

Li: Healthy attitude, penelope. Barely in town and already you’ve gone straight to the top. Targeting the mighty bill spencer himself. And luna, she’s learned her lessons very well. Cozying up to rj forrester.

[ Phone chiming ]

Brooke: Oh, boy. Let me…

Ridge: Okay, that’s good news. Uh, it’s dad. He is gonna stay home today with donna. Which makes me happy because I had this whole nightmare about him running around town telling everybody how happy he is, forgetting about the recovery he needs to go through.

Brooke: Right. Well, donna would never let that happen. Now that she’s mrs. Eric forrester, she’s gonna boss him around. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Ridge: No, I think you’re right. She’s– she’s good at that. I mean, he doesn’t listen to me ever, but she seems to have A… a lighter touch. Kinda like her sister. Have I told you lately how much I like hanging out with you?

Brooke: Uh… I think I remember you saying that once or twice last night. But I certainly would like to hear it again.

Ridge: Yeah?

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: I like hanging out with you.

Brooke: I love you.

Ridge: Yeah?

Brooke: Yeah.

Ridge: Love you.

Poppy: I don’t appreciate you barging in here unannounced, insulting me and my daughter, judging me, all right? If you find it so distasteful, there’s a very simple solution. Just stay away.

Li: You’d like that, wouldn’t you? Me turning a blind eye so you and luna can take advantage of every rich man you come across? You may not have your hooks all the way into bill spencer yet, but luna’s, she has steffy’s younger brother wrapped around her finger. It’s only a matter of time before she breaks that boy’s heart.

Zende: Coffee?

Luna: Oh, thank god. My head is pounding. You’re always so thoughtful. Zende? Wait, what are you doing here?

[ Zende chuckling ]

Zende: I, uh… I live here.

Luna: No, no, you don’t live… wait, where’s rj?

Zende: Rj?

Luna: Where– where is he?

Zende: I, um… I– I don’t know, luna, but he’s definitely not here.

[]

Poppy: Why do you hate luna and me so much?

Li: I don’t hate you.

Poppy: Well, you could’ve fooled me. And you’re always so angry and so harsh. You know, we’ve never been close as sisters should be. And it’s not like I haven’t tried, but you constantly shut me out.

Li: What you interpret as anger is disapproval of you. Your choices. The decisions you make. And don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Poppy: Because I’ve had lovers in my life?

Li: Not just one or two, poppy, a parade of them. All with two things in common. All very handsome, all very rich. And bill spencer more than fits that criteria. In fact, he just may be the jackpot you’ve been aiming for. It’s not only your promiscuous behavior that disgusts me. It’s how you live your life.

Poppy: Oh, so now my breathing offends you.

Li: You always say you’re so carefree. Carefree. Isn’t that just a euphemism for taking drugs? Your mints. I know about them. I don’t miss much and I’m good at putting pieces together. I watch you. I see you reaching into your purse for your little stash. I’m not just your sister, penelope. I’m a doctor. You can’t hide from me.

>>Okroe: Donna woke up this morning as mrs. Eric forrester. Something she didn’t expect. I’m so happy for the two of them.

Ridge: It’s amazing, really. You know, we almost lost dad, and now… starting a whole new chapter with the woman he loves.

Brooke: Eric’s journey is a miracle.

Rj: Oh, yeah. I can agree with that. Hi.

Brooke: We were talking about last night.

Rj: Interesting night. Granddad’s full of surprises, still, apparently. Um, no, it was– it was great. It was great seeing him so happy. Donna really does that for him, so.

Brooke: Speaking of happy, there’s you and luna.

[ Rj chuckling ]

Rj: We’re happy. She’s, um, she’s amazing.

Ridge: And how did you like the impromptu evening?

Rj: It meant a lot to her, too. That granddad specifically invited her.

Ridge: Well, he’s very high on luna. And you are, too, I guess.

Luna: Oh, my god. What happened? What am I doing here?

Zende: That’s what I asked myself when you surprised me here last night.

Luna: Last night. The party. I was so tired, so I left. And then I was so thirsty. And I saw the water bottle through the window. And I came in here to drink it.

Zende: And I came home. And I found you here. Waiting for me.

Luna: For you?

Zende: Uh, who else lives here?

Luna: Okay, I need to know exactly what happened last night.

Zende: You know what happened. In all my travels I’ve never seen such dry skin.

Li: You look so shocked. Like you actually thought you were fooling me. I’ve always been and always will be three steps ahead of you, penelope. It’s not because I’m great. It’s because you squandered every bit of potential you ever had. Such a disappointment. You and your loose morals. The way you treat your body, my god, penelope.

Poppy: All right, well, is this all you came to say? Because I have heard it all before. You can leave now.

Li: I don’t back down that easy, you know that. You’ll always hear the truth from me. And the truth is, you’re a druggie.

Poppy: All right, that is not true.

Li: No? How long have you been taking your so-called mints? Huh? How many times a week? A day? Do you leave home without them or are they always in your reach? Do you even know what’s in them?

Poppy: Hey, it is not like that anymore, li, okay? It’s not the way you’re making it sound. Yes, I take mints because they give me a little lift, right? I don’t drink alcohol.

Li: Oh, come on. Penelope, you’re a grown woman. You’re a mother living with your child. What are you thinking?

Brooke: Your father and i haven’t wanted to stick our noses into your love life.

Rj: Really? Since when?

Ridge: We’re not that bad, really.

Rj: No, it’s okay. You’re not that bad. But, no, it’s totally fine. Actually, I gotta check myself sometimes. I talk about her a lot.

Ridge: She is a lovely young lady.

Rj: You know, when I came to L.A., I did not have my mind on getting in a relationship at all. I was just planning on coming here to visit and see you guys and talk, and then I was just gonna hit the road again.

Rj: Well, there you go. Best laid plans, son.

Rj: Yeah, and I just met the most beautiful girl and got sidetracked. But she turned out to be so much more than that. I mean, she’s sweet, she’s kind, she’s caring. She really gets me, you know? And this whole situation with granddad, too. She was really supportive through all of it. And we got a lot closer because of that.

Brooke: Yeah, you can see how close you’re getting every single day.

Rj: Yeah, and, um, I, uh, you bring that up, I wanted to talk to you about that. Um, so, we’re not only, you know, just dating anymore. We’re a little more serious.

Ridge: Really? Yeah. I’m happy for you, son.

Brooke: I am, too.

Rj: So, you guys– you guys approve?

Ridge: Yeah.

Brooke: Wholeheartedly. Yes.

Rj: She’s really special. I love her.

Luna: Throw me that robe. Turn around.

Zende: Um, are you, uh, upset with me? What we shared last night was incredible. You were amazing, so free and, uh, uninhibited.

Luna: No, no, no, no, no, no. What happened to me?

Feeling claritin clear

is like…

Li: Sometimes I think back, how happy I was to have a little sister. I thought we’d be each other’s rocks. Best friends forever.

Poppy: We were. Until I got old enough to think for myself and stopped blindly following you around.

Li: You changed into a different person. Someone I didn’t recognize anymore. Abandoning the moral structure our parents set for us. Running wild. Living your unorthodox lifestyle.

Poppy: We don’t all have to be the same, okay? I can be me, and you can be you, and we can still be close as sisters should be.

Li: Those days are far behind us.

Poppy: They don’t have to be.

Li: How can I be close to someone who constantly makes choices that I don’t respect? Popping your pills? You’re a mother, penelope. Do you even think of the example you’re setting, still set, for your daughter?

Poppy: Luna is a– a bright and sweet and caring young woman, and I couldn’t be prouder.

Li: Luna’s a gold digger, just like her mother.

Poppy: Say all you want about me, I don’t care. But you will not talk about luna like that.

Li: Does she know about the mints?

Poppy: Of course not.

Li: What are they exactly?

Poppy: I– I’m a grown woman, li. I do not have to stand here and be lectured by you.

Li: You’re playing with fire, penelope. You can’t know what’s in them or how much. So be careful, you hear me? Because this can end very, very badly.

Luna: Rj and I are in love. And I waited, and it was perfect, and now I wake up here in this bed with you? I mean, what have I done?

Zende: I am, uh, suddenly really confused, too. I came home last night and you were waiting for me. What happened? It was definitely mutual. It’s something that we both wanted. I would never–

Luna: How– how did I end up here? Make that make sense!

Zende: I– I wish I could, but we didn’t do a lot of talking. Like I said, I came home after the party, and you were here. I– I– I was surprised. I didn’t think that you would take my invitation seriously.

Luna: Invitation? What invitation?

Zende: Remember, I told you that I lived on the property and that you would always know where to find me.

Luna: No, no, no. This isn’t me waiting for you. I love rj. I– I would never do this.

Zende: But luna, you did. Hey, hey, I can tell how upset you are right now, and that is the last thing that I want. If you couldn’t tell, I’m crazy about you.

Luna: No, please, please, please don’t say that.

Zende: You really don’t remember how incredible it was? How beautiful? I thought that–

I– I saw rj. It was him! He was here! He’s the only guy that I’ve ever– look, I don’t remember much, but he was definitely here. Okay, I don’t understand. This doesn’t make any sense. God, my head is pounding. This makes zero sense. I’ve only had like a glass or two of champagne. Oh my god, what have I done?

Zende: I’m so sorry about whatever it is that is happening right now, but you believe me, don’t you? I would never take advantage of–

Luna: Yes, I know that. I know. I believe you. I remember enough to know that. How could I? Rj loves me and trusts me, and this is what I do to him? I mean, I come to L.A., And I fall in love with the most wonderful guy in the world, who stands by me and believes in me, and this is what I do to him. I betray him like this. How could I– how could I do this to him? How could I?

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness, well look at you. You can’t deny you have feelings wow. Well, what’s going on with the two of you is exactly what’s going on with me and Danny. How come you can’t accept that?

Daniel: We’re not talking about my situation right now.

Phyllis: Oh, oh, there’s a situation? I didn’t know there was a situation. Well, that must be really awkward. You know, lily and all.

Daniel: Okay, this is about you making problems for dad and for Christine. It just– it feels like you’re up to your old tricks, mom. It feels– it feels like you’re being the aggressor. It feels like you’re not having any respect for anybody’s boundaries. And this is supposed to be you on your best behavior.

Phyllis: What’s going on here? Is someone in your ear? I can’t imagine who. There is nothing like that going on between me and Danny. The pull is completely mutual, okay? There’s no aggression.

Daniel: Okay, okay. You saying he’s gonna wake up one day and realize that the two of you are meant to be together? What’s that?

Phyllis: Fate, destiny.

Daniel: No, no, it feels more like ego. It feels more like ancient history. It feels like you being more concerned about beating Christine than any feelings you might actually have for dad.

Danny: Cricket, wow. What brings you here?

Tucker: The only reason I ask about her and if she’s back, is because I wanna avoid running into her.

Billy: Oh yeah, right.

Tucker: You know, she went to Paris to gather ammunition to use against me.

Billy: You mean to defend herself against you?

Tucker: No, sir. No, she is the angry one in search of retribution. I just want to steer clear of her and protect myself against whatever attack she has planned next.

Billy: And you still have the audacity to paint yourself as the victim here.

Tucker: That’s something I will never be. Anyone’s victim. I am prepared for someone to try to make me one, however.

Billy: Right, prepared in the same way that you were with the press and how they were gonna trash you about the cover-up scandal?

Tucker: Here I am, I’m still standing. I don’t share your knack for failure.

Billy: Well, actually, tucker, my days of failure are over. Yeah, I’m on top of the world now. Running a very successful company, in a stable and loving relationship. Two amazing kids that actually like me that think I’m a fantastic dad.

Tucker: And modest, too.

Billy: I have all the things you will never have. Because you’re too self-absorbed to actually be in a compassionate relationship that has a give and a take. ‘Cause all you do is take, tucker.

[ Billy clicks tongue ] Poor you. Always on the outside of everything that matters in life.

Interview with Justin Hartley

TV Interview!

"Tracker" cast list in the CBS press day 1/31/24

Interview with the cast and executive producer of “Tracker” on CBS by Suzanne 1/31/24

This was a CBS Winter press panel for two new shows, “Tracker” and “Elsbeth.” (The latter part is here.) Unfortunately, I didn’t get to ask a question, but it was fun to see all of them on camera and hear them talk about the new show. I hope it’s a big success! Don’t miss the premiere, right after the Super Bowl, 2/11. It’s an entertaining action/adventure show.

This is the second time I’ve been on a virtual panel with Justin Hartley, who stars as Colter Shaw. Colter tracks down missing people for the reward. He travels around in an Airstream and, of course, has a team of people helping him.  It’s not that straight-forward, though, as we learn he’s had a troubled childhood.  The last panel I was on with Hartley was for This Is Us a few years ago. I didn’t get to ask him a question then, either. I hope someday that I can speak with him! I’ve been a fan of his since he played Fox on “Passions,” and I also loved him in “Smallville” and “The Young and The Restless.”

Tracey Raab: Hi, everyone. I’m Tracy Raab with the CBS Network Communications team. Thank you for joining us today as we welcome the cast and producers from our new drama series Tracker, which premieres after the Super Bowl, and Elsbeth, which premieres. Thursday, February .  Thank you again for your support, and I will turn it over to Sienna Sanders to begin our Tracker session. Thank you.

Sienna Sanders: I’m Sienna Sanders from CBS publicity, and along with my colleagues, Erin Frailick, Chris Caspers and Susie Adurien, I would like to welcome you all to our winter press conference for a new series, Tracker to premiere on Sunday, February Eleventh, after the Super Bowl. Based on the best-selling Jeffrey Deaver novel, “The Never Game, Tracker follows Colter Shaw, a lone wolf survivalist, who roams the country as a reward seeker. joining us from the set of Tracker in Vancouver, we have star and executive producer, Justin Hartley; and cast members Fiona Renee; Robin Weigart, Abby McEnany, Eric Graise; and executive producer and director, Ken Olin.

Before we begin our Q&A, we would like to invite Justin to share a few opening remarks with all of you. Justin?

Justin Hartley: Hey, y’all. Well, thank you for joining us, and for those of you who watched the show, or several of the shows that were provided. Thank you very much for that. I know everyone’s so busy.  You know, Ken and I worked together, as you know, on This Is Us, and we had this really great culture and great experience together, and developed such a tight friendship, sort of like a family, that we sort of looked at each other, and we said, “We gotta do– we gotta keep doing this. We wanna do another show. And so we were on the lookout for something really great to do together, and we found this book, and we were able to luckily get our hands on it and develop it, and from there find this extraordinary cast to fill out our show. We’re so lucky. And we have, I think, continued that culture that we found on This Is Us in this really wonderful environment. So again, thank you and open up to whatever questions you might have.  Keep them appropriate if you can, you don’t have to. And simple.

Jim Halterman: Hey, guys, I’ll keep this appropriate. Ken, can you tell first just what you saw in the book? Because Justin told me you’re the one that gave him the book. What was it in the book that you saw as a series, and for Justin to kind of take on?

Ken Olin: I had been, I think, both Justin and I, after 6 years of babies and dogs, we wanted to do something that would be fun for us to do. Probably we were looking for something that was a little more story-driven… plot-driven. Justin, you know, wanted to carry a gun and get in fights. So I always– was in the mood to try to find something that maybe harkens back to the old PI shows that I grew up with, which was before most of these people were born, I think. But you know, shows like The Rockford files and Mannix and things like that. But I didn’t want to reboot a show. I wanted to find something that was based on a character who had a more contemporary psychological background. And then I read “The Never Game”. By Jeffrey Deaver, whose work I always have loved, and, I mean, the character is described…it’s like Justin. It’s a character who, I mean, this is a stretch, but looks like a movie star and is tall, and is underestimated– is always underestimated. And I’ve always felt Justin is– I love working with him. I think he’s incredibly talented, and I think he’s… often he surprises people with all of his skills.  I took it to Justin. I said, “Hey, man, I think this would be fun to do. I think we can do a real contemporary version of a PI show, and let’s do it together.” And Justin read it, said, “Good, I’m in. Let’s do it.” And then, yeah, Twentieth [Century Fox] I mean, I think they like the idea of us working together and doing this kind of show. So that was how it came about.

Jim Halterman: Alright, alright, thanks, guys.

Sienna Sanders: We’ll take our next question from Mark Berman.

Marc Berman: I thank you for doing this. My question is, for Justin or Ken, or anybody that wants to answer, actually… you know you. Of course, you mentioned you come off of 6 amazing years on This Is Us. Can you go back to the days of Thirty Something, so a lot of the work that you’ve done has evolved a story, a family element story. Can you talk to me about that? What’s the back story on this show with us? Supposedly this fractured family? What is this family? And why is it fractured?

Ken Olin: So let’s see….I’m exhausted.

Justin Hartley: So, Ken’s done. Yeah, I think I have one more in me. That’s a really good question, actually, and it’s sort of a driver for all of the stuff that you see this character do in his adult life. There’s an element, I think, to most, if not all, of the jobs that he takes… that, and his ability to solve– to find these people, and to get these positive outcomes that comes from the way that he was raised, and the way that he was raised is not necessarily always easy on the palate, I mean. His father was very, very difficult. He had a rough childhood, really unique– strange kind of childhood. But all of those things that he went through when he was younger are things that he was taught, and that he uses  in his current life. And you know, I think a lot of the stories that we tell open up and (correct me if I’m wrong), but I feel like they open up Colter a little bit, in the sense that he then kind of can reflect on his childhood. And oftentimes I think  the way that you remember things might not be actually the way they actually happened, right?  And I think Colter’s kind of figuring that out as well. So, but that’s a major part of our show is the backstory in the family, and he’s got a lot of questions about his, about his childhood and what he ends up, I guess, realizing our assumptions. That might not be true.

Ken Olin: With all of these shows there is some kind of a family created, in most of the procedurals. It’s called a team, and one of the things I found really appealing about this story was: he’s created a family. It’s just that. It’s a family that is, in some ways, I think, representative of a contemporary way of life. Now, where we communicate with our family on Zoom, on phone text, he has a family. It’s just that they’re not all in the same room, I mean, and they can’t all fit in the Airstream. So… but it’s still, I mean, he grew up, you know, he grew up with a very fractured family. There are secrets, mistrust… So you have a character at the center of the show. Who is he? He mistrusts intimacy. He mistrusts those bonds. And yet, at the same time, he’s created those bonds with all of these people that you see here, but they’re kept – in some ways – at a distance, and yet they all interact, and they interact the way a family does… but not in the way that we’re used to seeing, I think.

Sienna Sanders: Great. We’ll take our next question from Bruce Miller.

Bruce Miller: This is for Justin. How difficult is this workload? I’m assuming that on This Is Us you, like…

Ken Olin: Nothing, are you kidding? And This Is Us. It was like, “Justin, Wake up.  Come on, please come to work. Please come to work”, you know. Now, it’s like every day in the rain, the kid is…he’s 26 years old. Look at him.

Justin Hartley: I just remind you that the question was for me. Sorry I’m not warming up.  The workload is great. Look, here’s the thing.  I love it. I’ve always wanted this, and it’s not work. It’s a labor of love. I mean, you have a call time, and you show up. And gosh! People have written stuff for you, and people are lighting you. And I’ve got this amazing support group around me. These guys, I mean… it’s a team effort, for sure. And whether you’re on stage, or out in the middle of the forest in the middle of the night on a Saturday morning. Yeah, in 4 degrees by yourself, or whether it’s you, or whether it’s you guys on stage, or wherever you are. It’s the story that that matters. And when you watch the finished product, it all becomes worth it? So I don’t. I don’t really feel the workload. That’s …I mean, that’s bullshit. I do. It’s hard, it’s really hard. No, it’s not… Look, I mean, I’m not in the renegotiation. I’m not complaining. It’s been great when you get an opportunity to do something that you love and spend a lot of time doing it with people that you love. It’s a joy.

Sienna Sanders: Great. We’ll take our next question from Luaine Lee.

Luaine Lee: Justin, I like that fact that Ken said your character is underestimated, and I think actors are always underestimated at some point. Can you think of a point in your life when you are underestimated?

Justin Hartley: Yeah, I– sort of… gosh! Can I think of a point when I wasn’t? I like being underestimated. I think I think it’s a good place to be. In a place where people expect perfection, and then you don’t deliver, is a worse place to be than if you’re underestimated. I don’t mind being underestimated. It’s fine. I mean, I don’t know. Do you mind being underestimated? I never mind that.  I like low expectations, I guess, is what I know. Yeah, I think that it’s OK. I thrive on that. I don’t mind that at all. I get it, too. It’s all good. It’s all good.

Luaine Lee: Thank you.

Sienna Sanders: Okay, we’ll take our next question from Jamie Steinberg. Jamie?

Jamie Steinberg: Yes, and Justin, how much did the author influence the character you created? Were you close to what he created? Did he talk to you a little bit about fleshing out your version of this individual?

Justin Hartley: Yeah, I would say quite a bit… good question. I would say quite a bit. Ken and I talk about it all the time. It’s actually– you could probably answer that better than me. We worked on this character together, you know? Obviously Jeffrey wrote it, and then you have to figure out a way… What is it that’s so interesting about this character? First of all, what drew you to it? And then from there. How do you adapt it to the screen? Because it doesn’t– There are certain things in the book where this character, he does a lot of calculations and sort of talking to himself in his head.  You just can’t do that on screen. It would be very hard to watch. You’d be reading a lot, and it would be very hard to watch. So you have to figure out a way to show this guy and what’s going on in his head without just having him talking to himself all the time, which, sort of, is not the character. He’s not a weirdo. He’s not constantly talking to himself like Ken, and he’s not haunted. But yeah, we talked a lot about that. Actually, how do you get all of that stuff that we love about the character in the book translated to the screen without losing it, but also without kind of making it look like something it’s not? I think his skill set is very much his skill set: his physicality, his relationship to women. Those things are very similar to the book.

Ken Olin: I think probably the biggest adjustment that we made was to try to use Justin’s sense of humor and his ability. Justin’s. He’s so good with humor. The character in the book isn’t. He just isn’t the same that way. He’s a much more silent kind of character. So we wanted to use Justin’s facility. And also, I think it translates well, in television.  It’s something that’s really appealing, and it’s very appealing about Justin. So that would be, I think, the biggest difference between the character in the book and the character on the show.

Sienna Sanders: It’s great. We’ll take our next question from Mike Hughes.

Mike Hughes: Uh, Justin, when they talk about this character being not as silent as the book? He’s still really silent. He doesn’t talk very much. A strong and silent kind of guy. What’s it like to play that kind of thing after you played [the opposite] for 6 years? Where there was a lot of talk about everything.

Justin Hartley: That’s a great question. Well, in some sense it’s a relief, nd in some sense it’s a daunting task.  You know, when you’re still, and you’re on camera, and you’re still, and you’re not talking, you’re telling the story through your– well, your look, and what’s going on with your body? You’re not. It’s an interesting thing. It’s a bit scary, in a way, because you’re sitting there going. Ok? I’ve been still in silent for a good solid 40 seconds. Is that boring? Is that going to be interesting, I mean, is that going to, you know, make people think that I’m asleep, or something, or..?  But it’s really not. I mean, the writing is good, and the storytelling is great, and if Colter’s listening to something… and I firmly believe that, as far as acting goes…if you actually do what you say you’re doing, sounds like, you know, actually firing a gun or actually stabbing someone or actually punching someone. If you’re emotionally doing what you say that you’re doing, I think that’s very hard to deny or to say that that’s not true or honest. So I love it. I think it’s really cool, too. I love those characters, too. I love watching a character not necessarily talk all the time, but think. As an audience member just sitting here, watching what Bruce Willis might be thinking, and then you sit at the edge of your seat wondering what he’s going to say next. So I’ve always been a fan of those kind of characters. So for me it’s sort of a dream come true. And now we’ll stop talking.

Fiona Rene: And we’ll watch you.

Whitney Friedlander: Hi, there! Thanks everyone for doing this.  Not to bring it up. This Is Us: comparisons are too much. But there was a pivotal episode of This Is Us that aired after a super bowl. And you guys are premiering after a super bowl.  Is there any extra pressure – both because of those things to see how it goes? And also, I wanted to talk to Ken also about the decision to change the name. You said you didn’t want to do a reboot or anything like that. But also, you’re working with an IP that has a known property.  And why you went from calling it “The Never Game” to calling it Tracker.

Ken Olin: Because I can’t remember. Yeah, the Super Bowl part. Yeah. Well, listen. One of the great things for us was when Amy Rice, in fact. from CBS, gave us this time slot early on, with an impending strike and everything else. It was an incredible vote of confidence. Because, you know, there was a much better chance that we were going to have an incredible launch than there was that there was going to be a false schedule to begin with. So that was a huge thing. And yeah, there was pressure. A lot of the pressure became simply practical in that we had to create scripts, generate scripts, and be able to produce a certain number of shows, so we could stay on the air after the Super Bowl, you know, in the weeks coming up, because there was no point in launching a show after the Super Bowl, and then having nothing. So there’s that pressure. It’s better to have this pressure than not have this pressure.  You know, it’s an incredible opportunity, and there’s a tremendous amount of support. So that’s been great.

As far as changing the name goes…the biggest issue was that there’s IP.. with no game involved.  Where there are no games, and I think what we didn’t want was to have people watch the show and see this guy rescuing somebody in the desert and wonder when the game would start. What’s the game — fix the bone or whatever it was. I think that was a big– that was the basis of the decision  It was, look, there is no game involved it. It has to do with, also one of the books and one of the stories. It’s not actually pertinent to what he does or anything else. It was just the title of one of the books about Colter Shaw. And so the title… we did some research on the titles, and this title really stuck with people. So it was a practical decision, and I think a really smart one. Also. I don’t know how many games you wanted to play: Monopoly, not thrilling. That was why we changed the title.

Sienna Sanders: Question to Abby and Robin: How would you describe Teddy and Velma’s relationship to Colter, and with each other?

Abby McEnany: Oh, sure! I think our relationship– my relationship with Velma and Teddy is based on comfort and love and respect, and they’re very different.  But they work off each other their differences. They work off each other, and I think it’s quite lovely. It’s very lived-in to me. It’s very intimate in how small it can be, if that makes sense. And then our relationship with Colter, I think, originally, was like that. Velma was very motherly, and I think it’s come off that more. I’m always excited for Colter to find out like who you’re sleeping with, and like, are you always? Did you not get that? Okay? Maybe that’s something to talk about later. And I just think– I’m always very worried– Abby herself is very worried for him.  Long answer. Sorry, everybody. Anyways, I think he’s really lovely. I think that we consider– in my brain, it’s like, Colter is chosen family. And like, yeah, close, and we look out for him. And I think that he is [family], yeah. And we depend on each other. That’s my takeaway.

Robin Weigert: Yeah, the only thing I would add to that is, I may have, sort of, more the practical head in this duo, and I’m always looking for the job that will give us the most money for the least risk for our boy, you know, and it’s always– it’s never going to be as simple as I think it is, either because if it’s too simple of a job, so he’s not going to remain as excited by it. He’s just not going to be as excited by it. If I’m sending him to look for a car, it’s a safe, easy job, great reward. He may very well find a want ad and be uninterested in that car, and so I have to keep slicing it that way.  And I’m also I have an eye to her, because if he gets into a lot of danger, then it wreaks havoc on our relationship because she  gets concerned and is tempted to want to go and help him. And you know, I’m trying to keep our home intact, as well. So I kind of have a bit of that relationship to the whole thing. We both love him a lot, and I’m just trying to keep this train on the tracks.

Abby McEnany: I’m not allowed to leave the house… we’re not playing. He’s gonna try to leap into, I don’t know… a burning building to keep our home intact. So, yeah. We have a little bit of a different approach. But we have the same goal, and we both don’t tell him. But we both love this guy a lot.

Sienna Sanders: Okay, we’ll pick our next question from Rob Owen.

Rob Owen: For the producers: Will we ever get to see Colter in the same room as Velma and Teddy? And will we learn how they know each other, how they came to know each other?  And last, what happened to Mary McDonnell, and what’s the name of the actress who now plays Colter’s mom?

Ken Olin: Yes. yes, to those questions. Listen. The actress who now plays Colter’s mother is Wendy Crewson.  She’s fantastic. There were, basically– there were certain practical aspects to the character, and what we wanted to do going forward, and how much we would integrate that character into the storylines versus what we had originally thought when we did the pilot. And so the decision, which was mutual, was just…. This is a better situation, economically. It’s a better situation for all of us. Look, the character, and the way we’re going to use her, is changing. And so, therefore, it just made sense to change actors.

Rob Owen: Thank you.

Sienna Sanders: Alright. Now, Eric, are you as tech savvy as Bobby is?

Eric Graise: Oh, yeah. So, I spend most of my life working on hacking, and taking apart computers and stuff. No, Bobby, he’s… yeah. He’s way smarter than I am, different skill set. Yeah, but I identify with him more, on, you know, it’s kind of street level. I like his humor.  He’s definitely into a sense of fashion. That’s kind of my favorite thing about Bobby. But yeah, no,  I’m not the guy you call for computer stuff. I’m more of a Dungeons and Dragons kinda nerd.

Ken Olin:  I just have to tell you… The character that we originally created was about 55 years old… military guy.  This kid came in and did an audition that was so brilliant. We changed everything. And, by the way, we didn’t have anywhere near as clear an idea of who this character was until, you know, Eric came along. I just love working with him. He’s awesome. I don’t like working with anybody else on the show. [Laughter]

Sienna Sanders: Our next question will be from Rick Bentley.

Rick Bentley: Thank you. Hey, Justin? I know you guys have talked about that you’ve changed things from the book. But at the end of the day, you still have that book as a source material. Do you like that idea, or do you prefer, when you’re creating a character, to create your own bible to create your own backstory?

Justin Hartley: Good question. I like both. I think there are fun aspects of both. It’s great to have that source material, though, because week-to-week, as we get these new episodes, new story, new guest stars, new set of circumstances, new job… whatever it might be. You do have that source material. So if you have an acting technique, in a way, I find that you barely ever use it. But the fact that it’s there gives you comfort, right? So, as the stories change week to week, and like, I said, new characters come on in new… I don’t want to call them cases, but new jobs, new set of circumstances. You have that source material. You always have that, sort of, in the back of your head, “What would Colter do?” And you use that source material. At least I do… to decide for yourself, “What would Colter do?” Well, how would he react in this situation, given the source material. So I use it. And I find it’s good to have.

Sienna Sanders: Hey, Fiona, you have now played a lawyer on CBS shows back to back. How does Reenie Green compare to Rebecca Lee?

Ken Olin: Reenie’s alive?

Fiona Rene: What he said?  You know, I think they’re completely different. They’re both lawyers, and they both are a little hard-headed and smart. But Reenie has a lot more fire. She’s got a lot more fire in her, for sure… she’s sassy. She doesn’t take any of his bull. I think she likes to fight, and she doesn’t like to run away. And Rebecca was very much, run away from her problems. Girl, until the end. That answer your question?

Sienna Sanders: Yes, thank you, and we’ll take our last question from Megan Behnke.

Megan Behnke: Hi! My question is for Justin. How would you describe Colter’s personality, and his persistence to be a rewardist, since it’s such an odd career choice?

Justin Hartley: Yeah. I mean. I think he’s, you know…. what I love about him, I think he’s a good man. He’s a good man, and he wants to do good things for people in need. And I think we talk a lot about how he’s a restless guy. He can go in, you know, sort of help a situation. There’s an outcome, and then he leaves. He has a hard time, like you were saying, running away. He has a hard time not running away. I don’t think he intentionally runs away. I just think it’s how he is. He’s afraid of a lot of stuff, oddly enough. And I think that’s why he finds he’s trying to fill this void that is probably unfillable.  But he’s trying to fill it with. You know, these rewards and helping strangers. And, like Ken mentioned, he’s sort of created this family around him to try to fill all these voids that, like I said, I don’t think he can fill, and I also think, at a surface level, I think he enjoys the action and the fun and the excitement, and not being tied down, and the freedom.  But yeah, I think it’s definitely, when you look at his past, his childhood, the way he was brought up, what happened to his father, the questions that he has about his family, and the paranoia that he was surrounded by when he was younger. And then you look at what he does as an adult, it all makes sense, and you go, well, that he’s a product of his environment. What? What? You know, what happened to him as a youth. I hope I got that right, ’cause.e’ve already shot like episodes. [Laughter]

Justin’s Closing Remarks

Justin Hartley: Yeah, well, look, I mean, I’m really, really proud of the show that we put together. It’s a team effort. The culture that I found on This Is Us with that group – with Dan Fogelman, and with Ken, and the whole cast – that we had these lifelong friendships that’ve developed with Chrissy, and Sterling, and Mandy and Milo and everybody. I’m really proud of what we’ve done here, because that was a special time in my life, and I thought, “Man, I’m going to savor every flavor because you never get that back.” And I feel like, somehow, I was able to get a second shot at it, and I’m so happy to be with all of you, and thank you for watching our show. I think we have something really special.  We pour our hearts out or into it, and blood, sweat and tears. And I know everyone’s so busy. So thank you for watching, you will be entertained. And yeah, we do have guns and fighting, so it’s a fun one.

Sienna Sanders: Thank you so much.

Days Opinions For The Week Of February 5, 2024

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Stephanie and Everett from Days

Stephanie didn’t waste any time jumping into bed with Everett. We guess she got over Chad quickly. Stephanie acted as if she was head over heels in love with Chad, yet she had sex with Everett. If she loved Chad the way she claimed, she could have made Everett wait. Speaking of Everett, did he think having sex with Stephanie was going to keep him from having to tell her the truth about Jada? Having sex with Stephanie doesn’t change the fact that he was married to Jada.

Why did Johnny suddenly have doubts about marrying Chanel? He claimed he was concerned about his family after he talked to Chad about it. Johnny knew about his family long before he talked to Chad, yet he proposed to her anyway. It didn’t make sense for him to suddenly have doubts about marrying her. Also, why was he suddenly concerned about her feelings or Allie? When he proposed to her, he knew she used to date Allie. He should have thought about his family and Allie before he proposed to her.

Once again, the writers are changing John’s story. He’s the only one whose story has changed numerous times throughout the years. Are they getting hard up for a storyline for him that they must go down the road of him being a pawn? Speaking of John being a pawn, did the writers forget the chip is no longer in John’s head? The chip was taken out of his head while Hope was on the show. We will give the story a chance, but we anticipate the story changing even if it gets resolved.

Alex was so obvious that he wanted Kristen to pursue Brady to keep him away from Theresa. He must have forgotten what Kristen did to Brady. We know Alex didn’t want Brady to be around Theresa, but did he really think Kristen was a better option? For someone so arrogant, Alex has insecurity issues when it comes to Theresa.

Did Stefan think EJ would help him after what they went through in the past? Stefan didn’t care that the drugs he sold led to Holly overdosing. He was looking out for himself and Gabi. EJ had no reason to protect him after everything that was going on with Holly. Stefan needs to figure things out for himself instead of relying on other people to do things for him.

Why was Sloan surprised that she and Eric kept getting interrupted by the baby? Did she think the baby wasn’t going to cry? Maybe she should have thought about that before she decided to keep Nicole’s baby. She and Eric would have all the time in the world if she didn’t take Nicole’s baby.

When did Tate start resenting Brady? Before he left to go to rehab, Tate didn’t say anything about hating Brady. Now suddenly, he hates him. The writers had to come up with some reason to justify Brady being at the AA meeting with Theresa. They could have come up with a better reason than that to get him at the meeting.

Who were Johnny and Chanel inviting to the wedding? Johnny has family other than the DiMeras, yet none of them mentioned the wedding. You would never know Johnny was related to Marlena and the Bradys. He’s not just related to the DiMeras. Did they plan on only inviting Paulina and the DiMeras?

Days of Our Lives logo

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

John met with Steve and told him about his conversation with Konstantin. Harris went to see Clyde and told him that he lost five kilos of drugs and lost a dealer. Steve wanted to know why John didn’t tell him about the meeting with Konstantin. He wanted to go with him. Steve reminded him that they are supposed to meet people together. John got frustrated with Steve’s questions. Theresa saw Brady at her AA meeting. He felt like he needed to be there too. John admitted that he made a mistake meeting with Konstantin. Steve agreed with him. He wondered what he told Marlena. John admitted that he lied to her about meeting him. He didn’t understand what was happening to him. Clyde told Harris that he’s been in prison so he didn’t have anything to do with the drug bust. He blamed Harris for the bust going wrong. Harris showed him a phone, but Clyde never saw it before. John told Steve that he demanded that Konstantin tell him about his background. He said he taunted him. Konstantin told him that he had the eyes of a killer so he put his gun on him. He said he was the only who could put a bullet through a man’s eyes and Konstantin told him about a woman’s eyes. Konstantin told him about Katarina. Brady told her that his letter was different from hers. He admitted that he wasn’t a great father to his kids. Brady needed a fix because he thought about the way he treated his kids. He decided to go to a meeting instead. Sloan let Eric know that she felt like Jude was coming between them. Steve said that he didn’t know anything about Katarina. John suddenly had a panic attack. He calmed down, but he wanted to know what Steve remembered about the pawn. Steve wished he remembered. The only thin he knew is that John wasn’t that person anymore. He had to believe it and wanted John to believe it too. Harris wondered what they would find on the phone he showed Clyde. Clyde told him that the phone would incriminate someone he didn’t want to know about. Theresa wondered if Brady felt anything when she kissed him. She knew she felt something when she did it. Eric wondered why Sloan was upset with him lately. Sloan felt like she was worried about Jude being in the bed with them. Phyllis: Diane.

Diane: Phyllis.

Phyllis: You’re looking lovely. It’s a lovely necklace.

Diane: Well, thank you. You’re looking lovely as well.

Phyllis: Thank you.

Diane: Yeah.

Phyllis: Some people are saying that I have a special glow these days.

Diane: Oh, really? Well, I would love to hear all about that glow. But I’m so busy myself, I’m always almost late for a meeting. I’m sorry to be abrupt.

Phyllis: Oh, no. Nothing you do or say could change my mood right now.

Diane: Oh, well, then maybe this is a good time to tell you my good news.

Phyllis: Oh. Tell away.

Diane: I got a promotion.

Phyllis: Great.

Diane: Yeah.

Phyllis: Good. What are you, head of rubber band balls? Or you got my old position at Marchetti home, following in my footsteps. I love that journey for you.

Diane: Well, actually, my new position isn’t nearly as small as your old division. I’m running jabot. All of it, side by side with my husband.

******************************************

Phyllis: You’re running jabot with jack.

Diane: Co-CEOs. Does it get any better?

Phyllis: Unbelievable.

Diane: Yeah, I knew you’d be thrilled.

Phyllis: When does karma play a part?

Diane: Oh, I think I’m exactly where I should be.

Phyllis: Well, exactly where you schemed to be when you came back from the dead.

Diane: Oh, my god, we’re not going to revisit the whole back from the dead thing, are we? Talk about following in footsteps.

Phyllis: It’s really impressive, though, because you got exactly what you went for, didn’t you? Jack’s ring on your finger and his company under your thumb.

Diane: For your information, I didn’t scheme to get here. I begged jack to rehire Kyle as co-CEO, but he just insisted that I was perfect for the job, and Kyle agreed.

Phyllis: Through no manipulation of your own, I’m sure.

Diane: You know, your glow seems to have faded. Are you okay?

Phyllis: Oh, it’s definitely not faded, but thanks. There’s actually a special someone in my life who cares for me. It’s a great feeling. It’s so much better than being offered a pity position by my husband.

Audra: It only matters if you let your obsession with Ashley distract you from your ultimate goal. Again.

Tucker: Ashley, Ashley. You’re obsessed with her.

Audra: Oh, don’t.

Tucker: Who’s jealous now?

Audra: Uh-uh, I’m not playing this little game with you.

Tucker: Mm. I’m not playing games either. I don’t have time for games.

Audra: Look, this idea of yours is a massive undertaking. If you can pull it off. And I agree. It would be a dream position for me. But where do you expect to get all the capital to scoop up all these companies?

Tucker: I’ve never had any problem raising capital.

Audra: Really now?

Tucker: Really. Mm-hmm. There’s a sea of it out there.

Audra: Mm.

Tucker: And I’m fishing with dynamite. That’s the fun part.

Audra: Oh.

Tucker: So, we talk business now?

Nikki: Oh, hi. I hope you’re coming for me, Jordan. Yes, that’s right. I dare you. Because it’ll be the biggest, worst mistake you’ve ever made. I’ll wait for ya. Bitch. I’ll be waiting. I’m waiting. Okay, when you turn around, you’re gonna see someone.

Jack: Well, I can give you a few reasons. I think he’s fond of you. You’ve never been married to Nikki and you’ve never been his sworn enemy for years on end.

Lauren: Well, that’s true. You got me there.

Jack: You’re tough and you know what she’s up against. Look, if you’d agree to this, I’m sure victor would not object.

Lauren: You’ve really thought this through.

Jack: I can’t help being protective, of both of you.

Lauren: And that means more to me than I can say. You know, I’ve been blessed with a very incredible management team who’s excellent at day-to-day, so I could step in for a little bit and still be available for the big things..

Jack: Is this sounding like a yes?

Lauren: Oh, well, I need to know how Nikki feels. Have you even run this by her? I mean, is she going to be amenable or is she going to see this for what it really is? Me watching her to make sure she doesn’t take that first drink.

*************************************************

Nick: No, no. I don’t take much credit for that.

Adam: Come on. You are the common denominator. You must have done something right.

Nick: Thanks. Might be the most sincere compliment you’ve ever given me.

Audra: Are you staring at me to distract from the fact that Devon’s over there ignoring you?

Tucker: Is Devon here? Ah, there he is. What do you know?

Audra: Yeah, very funny.

Tucker: I only have eyes for you right now.

[ Audra chuckles ]

Audra: Sorry, but this just doesn’t sound like the Tucker I know.

Audra: I– I feel a shift in our dynamic. I just hope it lasts.**

Tucker: “A shift in our dynamic,” wow. You’re such a poet, Audra. I think you’re still on guard about Ashley.

Audra: Oh, god. Yeah, well, I know you very well. And I’m realistic. So, yes, I am on guard.

Tucker: Give me your hand. Give me your hand. I meant what I said upstairs. I choose you in all ways possible. It’s you and me from now on.

**********************************************

Sharon: Are you and Devon having some kind of a conflict? Because if there’s going to be issues before this partnership even gets off the ground–

Billy: It’s nothing like that. We’re just figuring out how to work together again. That’s all it is.

Sharon: As long as it’s not going to be contentious.

Billy: It’s all about collaboration for me.

Sharon: Uh-huh.

Billy: Look, if I get my feathers ruffled because of a missed meeting, that’s one thing. I just don’t want it to get to my mother, okay? So, I will remind Devon that I need to be kept in the loop. Other than that, everything is going to be just great.
