Tripp: Hey.

Allie: Oh!

Tripp: Oh, hey. I just came to wish you good luck. I didn’t mean to scare you.

Allie: Sorry I’m so jumpy. I’ve just–I’m on no sleep. I’ve been up since dawn baking. I’m just really hoping people show up.

Tripp: Hey, they will. All right, today’s gonna be great. Is this your great-grandma’s recipe?

Allie: Yeah.

Tripp: Okay. Mmm, okay, yeah, amazing. Okay, you guys are gonna kill it.

Allie: [Sighs] Thank you. I needed to hear that.

Tripp: Well, I would have given you more of a pep talk earlier, but we haven’t really spoken since we went to drinks the other night.

Allie: I know, and I feel bad, but you’ve been working and I’ve just been so busy, you know, with the bakery and then finding a sitter for henry, I’m just– I don’t know, my mind’s been preoccupied.

Tripp: With the opening or with chanel and johnny?

[Dramatic music]

 

Ej: Never a dull moment.

[Tense music]

[Sighs]

[Cell phone beeps]

[Line rings]

Xander: This is xander. Do your thing.

[Beep]

Ej: It’s been 24 hours and I still don’t have my money. You better get it to me, or I’ll do exactly what I warned I would do. Don’t you even think about crossing me. You will regret it.

[Phone beeps] Johnny, good morning.

Johnny: Dad, what’s going on?

Ej: Just making some work calls.

Johnny: Oh, that’s the kind of work you’re dying to get me to do, threatening people?

 

Ej: Don’t you even think about crossing me. You will regret it.

Xander: [Sighs]

[Knock at door] Who is it?

Gwen: It’s me.

Xander: Gwen. Gwen.

Gwen: Well, may I come in?

[Sighs] I heard that bonnie lockhart got arrested. You were right. She stole that million dollars from you.

Xander: Yeah, she’s in a jail cell as we speak.

Gwen: Well, you’re gonna get your money back.

Xander: Not exactly.

Jack: Are you sure you can take the time? Oh, that’s great, kayla. You know, doug just–you know, he just wasn’t himself yesterday and we’d all feel a lot better if you could check him out, so– great, yes, great, thanks. So he and julie will see you soon. Thanks. Yeah.

[Phone beeps] Oh, julie, how are you this morning?

Julie: Oh, fine.

Jack: No more chills?

Julie: [Chuckles] No.

Jack: Oh, and doug, how is doug?

Julie: He’s fine too, and we both could use some coffee, so I’m gonna get it for him.

Jack: Actually, I know you don’t want to talk about it, but doug did have a memory lapse yesterday, and I think, you know, it would be best if he got checked out by a doctor. And I talked to kayla, and she can slip him in today.

Julie: Call her back.

Jack: Why?

Julie: To cancel. We don’t need to see anybody.

[Soft orchestration]

 

Jack: You accidentally got locked in the freezer. You were banging on the door, and doug just left you there.

Julie: He didn’t mean to, jack. He’s hearing is going.

Jack: Yeah, but his eyes are okay. He saw you, and he just walked away.

Julie: It was a misunderstanding. He was on his way to the brady pub.

Jack: Yeah, where he confused roman with john.

Julie: Who doesn’t?

Jack: Well, he also mixed up marlena and vivian.

Julie: Will you stop harping on this? It’s over.

Jack: I saw how frightened you were when I unlocked that freezer, how scared you were when he didn’t pick up the phone and answer it. And what if he never made it to the pub? What if he was just out there wandering around?

Julie: I appreciate your concern, dear, but really, there’s absolutely nothing for you to be worried about.

Jack: Well, I am. And you should be too.

Gwen: Didn’t you go over to the kiriakis place to confront bonnie?

Xander: Yeah, I got there just as she and justin were about to tie the knot. I said I was missing a million bucks and I knew the bride had stolen it.

Gwen: What happened?

Xander: No, I told them to carry on. I’d just pop upstairs, have a look around. And lo and behold, there was my money in a bag with a gun. Stupidly, I called the police.

Gwen: Why is that stupid?

Xander: Well, before I could get out the door, the police found bonnie’s sister-in-law shot to death. They seized the cash as evidence.

Gwen: They’re gonna give it back to you, aren’t they?

Xander: Well, eventually.

Gwen: No, you need that money to give to ej. Otherwise he’s gonna call the judge and have those drug charges reinstated. You can go to prison, xander.

Xander: Oh, I’m aware. I just got a lovely voice mail from him reminding me the clock is ticking.

Gwen: What are you going to do?

Xander: I have to find a way to stall him, or I’m screwed.

Ej: What you heard was just business, son.

Johnny: “Pay me or else,” that’s how you do business?

Ej: Occasionally, one has to be tough. Someone I’m working with is trying to renege on a deal. They owe me $1 million cash. And I won’t let anyone cheat me out of what’s rightfully mine.

Johnny: You think he’ll pay up?

Ej: Within the hour if he knows what’s good for him.

Johnny: Mm. So if you’re about to get $1 million, which we both know is pocket change to you, why can’t you just invest some of it?

Ej: I’ve made my position clear. I’m not funding your pipe dream.

Johnny: When are you gonna get it through your head? This is not a pipe dream or a phase. I want this to be my career.

Ej: And I want you to work with me at dimera enterprises. You can make your own money and invest it however you’d like.

Johnny: Well, I don’t want to work in a business where it’s routine to threaten people.

Ej: Well, you don’t want to work at all. You want to make silly little movies on your phone.

Johnny: You can insult me. You can belittle me. You can cut off my credit cards, whatever. The fact remains, I will never be you, and I will never work at dimera.

Ej: Well, you’ll just have to find another wealthy chump–

[Clears throat] I mean relative to hit up for money.

Johnny: Oh, I’ve got plenty of family who will support me, even if my own father won’T. So you can take your damn job and shove it.

Chad: Doing a little father-son bonding?

[Tense music]

 

Tripp: After I told you about johnny and chanel almost sleeping together, you went racing out of your place. You left me there, and I haven’t heard from you since. You never told me what happened between you and your brother.

Allie: Can we talk about this another time, okay? I have so much to do and I can’t get into this right now.

Tripp: Of course. I have to get to work anyway. I’ll be thinking of you. Believe in yourself, allie, like I do. Hey, this is the start of something incredible, okay?

Allie: I hope so.

Tripp: I know so. I’ll text you when my shift is over, okay?

Allie: Okay.

Tripp: I’ll be thinking of you.

[Dramatic music]

Julie: Jack, you’re blowing this out of proportion.

Jack: When I first came back to salem, I had no memory of my past. I couldn’t remember my wife or my kids. I don’t want that for doug.

Julie: Oh, for god’s sake. He had a little confusion yesterday and then a slip of the tongue, you know? It happens to everybody.

Jack: I know you want to just put this out of your mind and move on, but wouldn’t it be better if we just got him examined?

Julie: Well, he gets a checkup next month. They can examine him then.

Jack: I think we should do it now.

Julie: Well, it’s not your decision to make. He’s my husband. I know him. I know him better than anybody in the world. And he does not have dementia.

Doug: You got that right.

[Phone ringing]

[Tense music]

Ej: [Sighs]

[Phone beeps] What is it, xander?

Xander: I found your missing money.

Ej: Ah, then why don’t i have it back?

Xander: I assume you heard bonnie lockhart was arrested?

Ej: I did.

Xander: Well, the person she robbed was me. Unfortunately, the police found the cash at her murder scene and they confiscated it as evidence.

Ej: That is not my problem. It’s yours.

Xander: Well, actually, it’s not a problem at all, mate. The police assured me that I’ll get the money back as soon as bonnie is arraigned, so as soon as it’s back in my possession, I’ll deliver it directly to you.

Ej: See that you do, or you’ll be very sorry…mate.

[Phone beeps, clatters]

Chad: Everything okay?

Ej: Fine. I’m just in a mood.

Chad: ‘Cause of johnny? Things seem a little tense between you two.

Ej: No thanks to you.

[Elevator bell dings]

Tripp: Johnny, what are you– what are you doing here?

Johnny: I came to talk to my grandma marlena about investing in my film.

Tripp: Ah, okay, well, good luck.

Johnny: Yeah, I won’t need it. She’s always had a soft spot for me.

Tripp: Hey, listen, you got a minute?

Johnny: For what?

Tripp: I’m just curious on what happened the other night between you and allie.

Allie: Hey.

Chanel: Hey.

Allie: The oatmeal cookies are going.

Chanel: Yeah, those are tripp’s favorite, right?

Allie: Right.

Chanel: Yeah, I saw him leaving.

Allie: Well, he just came by to say good luck, so… here. Sorry.

Chanel: What is up with you, horton? You’ve been stressed out since the moment you showed up.

Allie: I didn’t get any sleep last night, and I burned the pumpkin bread. I don’t know, I’m just a nervous wreck about this opening.

Chanel: Sure it’s about the opening?

Allie: Yeah, what else would I be nervous about?

Chanel: Okay, we need to do this before customers start showing up.

Allie: Do what?

Chanel: Clear the air about me and your brother.

Gwen: Ugh, I still feel completely gutted that I’m the one who brought you into this horrible mess. If you hadn’t confessed for a crime that I had committed, then–

Xander: Hey, it’s all gonna work out. I’m more concerned about you and jack. Fill me in on your conversation.

Gwen: [Sighs] You know I told him that snyder was blackmailing me into running drugs.

Xander: But did you tell him what snyder was holding over you? That you lied about your miscarriage?

Gwen: And that I blamed his other daughter, his dearest abigail, when she had nothing to do with it and then that drove her out of town and probably ruined her marriage? No, I didn’t tell him that part. In fact, I haven’t said anything to him yet. I said I needed time to think, so I just– oh, I made up this excuse that I had an errand, and I just kind of dashed out the door.

Xander: Well, he’s gonna want an answer soon.

Gwen: I know. But maybe with this crisis that’s happening with julie, that will keep him busy a bit, you know.

Xander: Oh, yeah, what happened to her? Did she freeze to death?

Gwen: No, I wish, but you won’t believe who locked her in the freezer. Doug.

Xander: No way.

Gwen: Yeah.

Xander: Really?

Gwen: Yeah, even he wants to get rid of the old ninny.

Xander: Ugh, I mean, I’ve been tempted to take her out myself.

Gwen: Yeah, right? I would settle for cryogenic preservation. Now, that would shut her up for a bit, wouldn’t it?

Xander: You know, if we’re patient, maybe we’ll get lucky and doug will try again, like, try and, you know–[Laughs]

Gwen: What?

Xander: Well, give her another heart attack by eating store-bought doughnuts in front of her.

Gwen: Oh, stop.

Xander: Or maybe he’ll try and drown her in a vat of scottish rye. Oh, no, better yet, maybe he’ll smother her to death with her beloved throw on her beloved couch.

[Laughter]

Gwen: You’re horrible.

[Laughs]

[Dramatic music]

 

Julie: See, my husband agrees with me.

Jack: Good morning, doug. We were just talking about what happened yesterday.

Doug: You mean when I found julie locked in the freezer and didn’t let her out?

Jack: You remember?

Doug: Of course I do. And I don’t know how in the world I could ever do such a thing. I’m so terribly sorry, my dear. I hope you can forgive me.

Julie: Oh, honey, nothing to forgive. The important thing is, I’m fine, and so are you.

 

Chanel: I’m a big girl, horton. I can take care of myself.

Allie: I know. I just wanted to warn you about my brother.

Chanel: So you crashed our date and trashed him right in front of me.

Allie: He is a huge player. I just wanted to tell you before you–

Chanel: Before I had sex with him?

Allie: Trust me, I did you a huge favor.

Chanel: I’ve had plenty of sleazy guys try and get with me, and that is not the vibe I got off G.

Allie: Because he’s really good at being charming and sounding sincere. Look, johnny is my twin and I love him, but he definitely does not have the best track record with women. I mean, I bet he told you I’m full of it.

Chanel: He hasn’t told me anything. I haven’t spoken to him since your little intervention.

Allie: Really?

Chanel: I haven’t had much time to chat with anyone. We are opening a bakery today.

Allie: I just thought he would have texted you or something.

Chanel: He has, repeatedly. I didn’t respond. What’s with the face? You told me to stay away from him. Isn’t this what you wanted?

Johnny: The other night, you mean when your girlfriend, aka my sister, barged in on me and chanel like a total lunatic?

Tripp: Look, I really didn’t mean to cause trouble when I told allie about you and chanel almost sleeping together.

Johnny: No, that’s no trouble, except my sister totally went off on me, said all I cared about was getting chanel into bed and once I did, I’d dump her. You know what chanel did? Walked right out the door.

Tripp: Look, I’m sorry. I knew she’d be upset, but I didn’t know she would go ballistic.

Johnny: You should have.

Tripp: Excuse me?

Johnny: Get a clue, dude. It’s obvious allie doesn’t want me with chanel because she wants her for herself.

 

Chad: What do I have to do with the problems between you and your son?

Ej: I asked you, cool, fun uncle chad, to help me persuade him to work at dimera.

Chad: Yeah, and I asked you what was in it for me. You never gave me an answer.

Ej: Because johnny walked in, and instead of trusting that we’d resume the discussion later, you–

Chad: Oh, do you mean like trust that if I helped you get jake out of the position as ceo that you wouldn’t try to grab the position for yourself?

Ej: That was a misunderstanding.

Chad: Well, I wasn’t gonna let you use me to get your kids in the door and then screw my kids down the road.

Ej: Instead you told johnny to follow his passion.

Chad: Yeah, I did. You know, and by the way, I followed mine, all right? I started a sports website. I opened a coffee shop, turned it into a nightclub. Wasn’t all successful, but I learned a hell of a lot along the way. And look where I ended up, back in the family fold. So why don’t you just let your son explore a little bit?

Ej: Out of the question. The boy needs to be put on the proper path.

Chad: You mean a leash.

Ej: [Scoffs] Well, at least my son is still living under this roof, which is more than can be said about your wife.

Chad: She’s helping her mom in boston.

Ej: Wasn’t she’s supposed to be back home months ago?

Chad: Well, I guess– I guess laura’s affairs were a bit more complicated than they thought.

Ej: Mm, and you haven’t taken thomas and charlotte to go visit her?

Chad: She doesn’t want me to.

Ej: She doesn’t want to see her own children?

Chad: Yes, of course she does.

Ej: Ah, she doesn’t want to see you. I’m sorry.

Chad: [Laughs] I don’t want your pity, all right? I spoke to jack. He’s gonna talk to her and figure out what her plans are.

Ej: And?

Chad: He hasn’t gotten back to me yet.

Ej: Meanwhile, you’re just standing around, hoping that she comes back to you.

Chad: What is it you expect me to do, ej?

Ej: Isn’t it obvious? Go get her.

Ej: Because I threw her out. She was cheating on me with her ex-husband and lied to my face about it.

Chad: Well, why don’t you chase her down and drag her back by her hair?

Ej: I don’t want to see that duplicitous whore ever again. And even if I did, I don’t know where she is. What?

Chad: Oh, I find that very hard to believe.

Tripp: Allie and I have talked about this, and it’s not true.

Johnny: Then why would she rip into me like a crazy person, bring up some ancient history about a friend of hers I dumped back in high school?

Tripp: She says that she cares about you both and if you started dating and something went wrong, then–

Johnny: That’s bull. Allie doesn’t want us dating because she is still hung up on chanel.

Tripp: She told me she’s not.

Johnny: Yet she’s doing anything she can to keep us apart.

Tripp: Okay, even if she is, she doesn’t control chanel, all right? She can make up her own mind about you.

Johnny: Looks like she already has.

Tripp: What does that mean?

Johnny: She’s ghosting me, dude. She won’t return my calls or texts, and it’s all my sister’s fault.

Allie: I’m sorry for storming into johnny’S. That wasn’t cool.

Chanel: It wasn’t cool of me to leave either, but I didn’t know what else to do.

Allie: Well, you were stuck in the middle because of me. I really should have talked to him about it privately, but when tripp said that you and johnny almost slept together, I just–I just reacted. I knew that the only reason you didn’t the first time was because you didn’t have protection, and I was scared that if you went through with it last time, you’d end up like katie.

Chanel: Who’s katie?

Allie: One of my friends that johnny dated in high school.

Chanel: I’m not a naive teenager.

Allie: I know, but you have to understand, okay, johnny has a way with women. He knows how to get what he wants.

Chanel: And he got what he wanted from katie?

Allie: He sure did. He got her into bed, and then the next week, he dumped her. He broke her heart.

Chanel: It happens.

Allie: Well, I don’t want it to happen to you. I just felt like I had to stop you.

Chanel: Well, mission accomplished.

Allie: I’m sorry that I caused a scene, but I only did it because I care about you so much.

Chanel: We should get back to work.

Allie: Okay, but first, dupree, let me know, can you please forgive me?

[Dramatic music]

 

Xander: [Chuckles]

Gwen: [Clicks tongue] I hope you know that this is not why I came over here. I just didn’t want ej to throw you to the wolves.

Xander: Oh, and, I hope you know I only kept you here because I’m so concerned about your relationship with jack.

Gwen: Mm, yeah. We just–we just got caught up in the moment, didn’t we?

Xander: Exactly. Neither of us intended to end up back here again, did we?

Gwen: Course not. Especially because we said– we said weren’t gonna see each other, didn’t we? And my father would absolutely die if he saw me in bed with you like this, even though I told him that you’re not a drug runner and that you just took the rap to protect me.

Xander: Yeah, he still hates my guts.

Gwen: If he finds out about my miscarriage, he’s gonna hate my guts too.

 

Doug: Okay, you have my word. I will not leave anyone in a freezer again.

Julie: [Chuckles]

Jack: Well, that’s not all that happened, doug.

Doug: Well, yes, I was confused about a number of things yesterday. I called roman john, and i mixed up marlena and vivian, but my doctor says that lots of us have minor memory issues when we get older.

Julie: I told jack that. I told him it was very common, but he won’t let it go.

Doug: Well, I think I actually know why it happened.

Jack: Why?

Doug: Well, I slept so terribly the night before. I was restless, had bad dreams, tossed and turned the entire night.

Julie: And how did you sleep last night, darling?

Doug: Like a baby.

Doug: I think we should get going. You and I have a very important place to be.

Julie: We do?

Doug: Allie and her friend are opening their bakery today.

Julie: I didn’t remember that.

Doug: Well, that’s perfectly understandable, honey. You had a very difficult day yesterday, and it was all my fault.

Julie: No, let’s just put that behind us. You’re right. We should just hustle down to the town square and show those girls our support.

Jack: Are you sure you won’t go to your appointment with kayla first?

Doug: We have an appointment with kayla?

Julie: Well, jack took it upon himself to make an appointment to get you checked over, but obviously, that is not necessary. And, jack, I know your heart is in the right place, but obviously, we’re both fine. Doug, healthy as a horse.

Doug: And hungry as a horse. I can’t wait to get some of those sweet bits.

Julie: Me too, sweetie. Ah, ah, me too. Shall we?

Doug: Okay.

Jack: All right.

Doug: See you, jack.

Jack: Yup, see you.

[Sighs]

[Dramatic music]

 

Gwen: I know how much your friendship with jack meant to you.

Xander: Not as much as building a father-daughter relationship with him means to you.

Gwen: Yeah, it means everything.

Xander: If jack finds out that you let abigail think it was her fault that you lost your baby when, in reality, you already had, I don’t think he’ll ever forgive you.

Gwen: Yeah, he’s loved abigail her whole life. I’m his daughter just come lately.

Xander: Hey, you’re every bit as much his child as she is.

Gwen: I know, but we don’t have that history, you know?

Xander: [Inhales deeply] So you need a story, a really convincing story about the blackmail.

Gwen: I know, I’m trying, but…[Sighs] You know, it’s really difficult, even for the woman that you say is a very highly skilled liar.

Xander: That was a compliment.

Gwen: [Chuckles] Oh, I can normally come up with lies in my sleep, but this time, I’m just really stumped.

Xander: And you got to remember that jack’s an investigative reporter, so it’s got to be something that he’d just believe on the surface and not be tempted to look into.

Gwen: It has to be something where I’m scared enough for it to come out but not so bad that he would turn his back on me. Oh, god, the pressure is so much.

Xander: Hey, don’t worry about it, gwen. We can do this.

Gwen: We?

Xander: Well, two highly skilled liars are better than one. Let’s put our heads together. I’m sure we can think of something.

Gwen: [Laughs] Okay.

Ej: What exactly are you insinuating?

Chad: Just that you’re not the kind of guy that loses track of people. You were the only one in touch with kristen. No one else knew where she was.

Ej: Kristen is our sister.

Chad: Sami’s your wife.

Ej: But as I’ve told you, I’m through with her. I’ve turned my full attention to dimera.

Chad: I’ll bet you a million dollars that you know where she is or you are very close to finding out.

Ej: And you’d lose that bet. Samantha could fall off the face of the earth, as far as I’m concerned. Anyway, we weren’t talking about my wife. We were talking about yours. So tell me, brother, what’s the plan?

Tripp: Look, I get why you’re pissed, but allie and chanel are just friends.

Johnny: Friends with benefits.

Tripp: Okay, look, I know they kissed a couple of times, but allie said she wants to be with me, and I believe her.

Johnny: If she’s so into you, then why is she determined to mess things up for me and chanel? Why does she even care what happens between us?

Chanel: Of course I can forgive you. I know you were just looking out for me.

Allie: Thank you for understanding. I’m gonna go check on the almond croissants.

Chanel: Ah, we’re not done.

Allie: But you just said you understand.

Chanel: That you were trying to protect me, I do understand that, but I also think there might be a little more to it.

Allie: Like what?

Chanel: I made it clear I was into you, and you made it clear you wanted to be with tripp.

Allie: I do.

Chanel: But when I got with your brother, you lost your mind. So is it possible that this is a “you don’t want me, but you don’t want johnny to have me either” type sitch? I’ve lost count of how many asthma attacks I’ve had.

Xander: Tell me a story all about the evil dr. Snyder. What awful thing did he know about you? What terrible secret was he holding over you that you didn’t want your father to find out about?

Gwen: Well, I could tell him that I stole a million dollars from abigail.

Xander: Psh, it’s a bit obvious, isn’t it, a bit ripped from the headlines?

Gwen: What, I love “law & order.”

Xander: Well, who doesn’t? But the key word here is “convincing.”

Gwen: Okay, if you don’t like my idea, what’s your clever idea, then?

Xander: [Breathes deeply] I’ve got it. Tell him you used to be a hooker.

Gwen: [Gasps]

Xander: Tell jack that snyder was one of your clients.

Gwen: How do you expect me to say that and not throw up afterwards?

Xander: No, come on, hear me out. So one evening years ago, snyder partook of your services. And then you were here in salem, at the hospital getting medical treatment, and he recognized you, which is the most convincing part of the whole lie, because who could forget having sex with you? But then he threatened you. He said he would expose your past if you didn’t agree to be his drug mule.

Gwen: So I’m to tell my father that I slept with that utterly repulsive man for money?

[Dramatic music] It’s not happening, it’s not happening, no.

Xander: Well, you told me to come up with a story, and i can’t think of a better one.

 

Gwen: I can. I tell him the truth, and I let the chips fall where they may.

 

Tripp: Allie is just being a good friend, trying to keep chanel from getting hurt.

Johnny: By convincing all of you that I’m some jerk who uses women?

Tripp: I never said that. But your sister does know you better than anyone, so as far as I know, she’s right.

Johnny: Look, I’m not saying I’m a saint, okay, but I’m not out to use chanel. I like her…a lot, and I thought that she liked me too, but now I have no idea if I’ll ever hear from her again.

Allie: I’m trying so hard to do the right thing. I really thought I was doing the right thing.

Chanel: By getting between me and your brother?

Allie: I couldn’t let him use you. When I knew you were at his house, all I could think was that I had to get over there. And then when I saw you guys going upstairs together, all I could think was that I had to stop you.

Chanel: What happened after I left?

Allie: Johnny let me have it, and he stormed off. And then I went home, and I had a long talk with nicole about everything. She told me that I had to be honest.

Chanel: About what?

Allie: About why it bothered me so much that my brother was involved with my best friend.

Chanel: And what did you say?

Allie: [Sighs] At first, I thought confronting johnny– I thought doing that really was just to protect you. I guess I didn’t realize consciously the real reasons that I was doing it. I don’t know, I felt it when you told me that you met a guy you liked, so maybe–maybe i should have known that I didn’t just go running over there because I was blindsided and worried and upset. Maybe I also did it because… I was jealous.

Xander: Gwen, you can’t just rush out of here. Come on, you got to think about this.

Gwen: Yeah, I know, and I want to tell jack the truth. This is gonna be such a huge weight off my shoulders, xander.

Xander: Right, but it could also be the end of your relationship with him.

Gwen: Yeah, but I just can’t live with this lie anymore. I can’t, and if he hates me, at least he’ll stop hating you.

Xander: I wouldn’t be too sure about that. I mean, I’ve known the real story about your miscarriage for months, and I didn’t say a word. He might end up just hating both of us.

Xander: But yesterday when I asked you if that’s what you wanted, you seemed… open to the possibility.

Gwen: Are you saying this ’cause we just shagged?

Xander: No.

Gwen: Good. Because as I said, this is not why I came over here. I came over here to make sure that you could pay ej.

Julie: Nice to see you, chanel. Wow, what scrumptious samples you ladies have. You must tell me what is the most heart-healthy thing on this table, and something light would be good for doug too.

Doug: I had a piece of devil’s food cake last night, and she’s trying to rein me in.

[Laughter]

Chanel: Well, I would go for the blueberry muffins. They’re made with whole wheat flour and olive oil, and they are fresh out the oven.

Allie: Oh, my god, the croissants.

Chanel: Oh, sorry, excuse us.

Julie: Excuse you. Excuse you. [Laughs]

Doug: Okay.

Julie: Wow.

Doug: I’m going for one of these.

Julie: Okay, here we go, darling.

[Laughs] All right. I guess it doesn’t matter just this once. After all, this is a day to celebrate, not to scold. Mmm! Mm. Yummy, huh?

Doug: Yeah, absolutely delicious.

Julie: Yes, absolutely. Oh, my, I’m so thrilled. I mean, our family recipe is gonna be available to everybody in salem right here in the square. I mean, it’s a– it’s a thrill. It’s a wonderful occasion. And remarkably, these doughnuts, they taste exactly like alice’S.

Doug: I’m sorry, darling, but who the heck is alice?

 

Jack: Hey.

Gwen: Hi there.

Gwen: Hi. Oh. How are doug and julie today?

Jack: Much better, thanks. Yeah, doug seems to be in his old self again. I’m just hoping that that whole episode was just an aberration.

Gwen: Me too.

Jack: And since they’re out, maybe–well, maybe you and i can finish that conversation.

Gwen: That’s actually why I came home. See, I think it’s time that you knew the truth about dr. Snyder and what he was holding over me.

[Knock at door]

Xander: [Exhales heavily]

Ej: I just called the courthouse. Bonnie lockhart was arraigned over an hour ago. Where’s my money?

Xander: I was just about to go get it.

Ej: Hmm, I don’t believe you.

Xander: You know, I still don’t understand why such a rich man cares so much about a million dollars.

Ej: I told you it’s the principle. I find it maddening that my hypocrite of a wife used my money to expose nicole’s infidelity when she was cheating on me.

Xander: What are you doing?

Ej: I gave you fair warning, and now I’m calling the judge. Expect to be in handcuffs shortly.

Xander: I just said I was gonna go get the money.

Ej: The only place you’re going, my friend, is jail.

Chad: Abby? Abigail?

Nicole: I just–I thought that you could be good for her, and you haveeen, and you wanna know what else I see?

Rafe: Hmm?

Nicole: She’s been good for you. And I do not want to get in the way of that. I really don’T.

Rafe: Okay, look, you just ended your marriage.

Nicole: And you and ava just started something. And it’s like I just said to you. This is working for you and for her, and I just think that–I just think that you both should see where it could go. What happened that night was not your fault. I made a choice, and I’m–

[Sighs] I am making a choice now. I will miss you like crazy, but I can’t see you for a while. It’S…it’s best this way.

Ava: You look like you lost your best friend.

Paulina: Everyone in this town thinks of me as your great auntie paulina, but you can call me grandma. Don’t forget. It’s our little secret. Oh! I didn’t hear you come in.

Abe: Yeah, I know. What did you just say?

Brady: Lani.

Lani: Hey.

Brady: What is going on? Why are the cops here?

Chloe: No one will tell us anything.

Lani: Well, I am so sorry to be the one to tell you this, but there was a murder here tonight.

Chloe: Oh, god.

Brady: Not my granddad.

Chloe: Not philip.

[Knock at door]

Gabi: Ugh, you know what? I’ll just– philip, what are you doing here?

Philip: Why the hell are you spying on me?

Gabi: What are you talking about?

Philip: My laptop froze up tonight, so I took it to it to get checked out. Guess what they found? A keylogger! And I know it was you that put it there.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

 

Lani: No. The victim’s name was calista lockhart.

Brady: Lockhart?

Lani: Bonnie’s sister-in-law.

Brady: David lockhart had a sister?

Lani: Apparently. She was shot upstairs in justin’s bedroom.

Brady: Do they know who killed her?

Lani: We took bonnie in for questioning, but that’s all I can tell you at the moment.

Chloe: Oh, my god. Justin and bonnie were supposed to get married today.

Brady: Yep.

Lani: Things didn’t go as planned. Typical salem wedding.

Chloe: Is the–is the body still upstairs?

Lani: No.

Chloe: Okay, well, I’m gonna go talk to philip then.

Lani: Oh, no. He’s not there.

Chloe: Do you know where he is?

Lani: I don’T. I was actually on my way out. The csi is wrapping things up, and they shouldn’t be there much longer.

Chloe: Okay. Thanks, lani.

Lani: I am so sorry for ruining your homecoming.

Chloe: Oh, my goodness. I cannot believe that a woman was murdered down the hall from my bedroom.

Brady: Which is exactly why you’re gonna come home with me tonight.

Eli: Hey.

Rafe: Hey.

Eli: We just booked bonnie lockhart. She’s in a holding cell. Man, that woman is a piece of work. Did she really think that she could hide a dead body in her fiancé’s bed, and no one would find out?

Rafe: Oh, come on. You can’t use the work “think” and bonnie in the same sentence.

Eli: I guess that’s true. Well, at least it all blew up before the ceremony. Justin dodged a bullet.

Rafe: And I guess the sister-in-law can’t say the same thing, huh?

Eli: [Mimics gunshot]

Rafe: Yeah. All right, listen, thanks again for handling that. I know that both you and lani were done with work and I called you back in, so I appreciate it, and I hope I didn’t pull you away from anything important.

Eli: No, no, we were just having dinner with paulina and abe.

Rafe: Oh. Sorry.

Eli: It’s all good. If anything, they were thrilled that we left and they got to spend some alone time with the twins.

Paulina: Oh. I thought you were doing the dishes.

Abe: Well, they’re done. So what did you say to the babies?

Paulina: Oh, you know, nighty-night, sleep tight.

Abe: I thought I heard you call yourself grandma.

Paulina: I did?

Abe: You did.

Paulina: Well, I, um– I guess I did.

Abe: Paulina, you know that you’re their great aunt and their grandmothers are valerie and tamara.

Paulina: I know that.

Abe: But why did you tell the– why’d you tell the kids to call you grandma?

Paulina: Abraham, I have a confession to make. I order my groceries online now.

Ava: Mind if I join you for a drink?

Nicole: Yeah, okay.

Ava: Great. I will catch up, and then I will pick up the next round.

Nicole: Oh, well, then please have a seat.

Ava: Thanks.

[Both laugh] Oh, and if things go according to plan, I will be able to get you your drinks for free in the near future.

Nicole: Really?

Ava: Yeah, well, I just–I’m hoping that julie will hire me as her new chef here. I just dropped off my résumé in her office.

Nicole: Oh, I thought you wanted me to hire you at basic black.

Ava: I did. But I just–I think it would be awkward given the circumstances.

Nicole: Ava, I think you’re using “circumstances” as a euphemism. What you think might be awkward is working for a woman who you thought tried to steal your man.

Eli: Nice picture.

Rafe: I was looking for a photo for the myers case, and it just kinda popped up. Okay?

Eli: Right.

Rafe: Don’t you have some paperwork to do?

Eli: No, no. My desk is clear. What’s up with you, though? Any more conversations with duke?

Rafe: I am deeply sorry that I ever shared that with you.

Eli: [Laughs] Look, man, I’m glad you felt comfortable enough to share it with me.

Rafe: Mm-hmm.

Eli: Seriously, man, you have a picture of you and nicole on your phone. You’re in a crappy mood. What, is ava still ticked off about you and nicole?

Rafe: No, actually. She’s not.

Eli: No?

Rafe: No. Because nicole and i are not gonna be seeing each other anymore.

Paulina: I’m sorry, but I need liquid courage.

Abe: Paulina? Are you okay?

Paulina: Not really. The reason that I wanted the babies to call me grandma is because… of tonight’s dinner.

Abe: Chicken milanese made you feel like a grandmother?

Paulina: Sort of. Sort of. I mean, when you got here this evening, I thought it was gonna be a disaster, but you were great. You started pulling food out of the fridge.

[Chuckles] And it was so much fun helping you cook. And then when eli and lani got here with those babies, you know, and, you know, spending time with our shared family just felt so comfortable, so right, and it got me thinking about the future and how you and I might get married someday.

Abe: Married?

Paulina: Yeah. That’s why, you know, I wanted them to call me grandma. Then I’d be their grandmother. By marriage, of course.

Abe: Of course.

Paulina: So that’s why I said they could call me grandma. You know me, always jumping the gun. Be good if you said something right about now. Abraham?

Chloe: Why would I go home with you?

Brady: Well, she just said that a woman was murdered right down the hall from you.

Chloe: Yeah, but I don’t think the police would let me stay here if there was any sort of danger, and you heard lani. They’ve got bonnie in custody.

Brady: What if justin gets her out? Bonnie seems to be going off the rails right now, and she does not like you at all.

Chloe: Hmm, I don’t really think that she would make bail and then come hunt me down and shoot me because, what, I didn’t get along with mimi in high school?

Brady: All right, well, forget about the physical danger. What about emotional? My god. I mean, you’re gonna try to sleep here tonight? Really? Knowing that a murder happened a couple doors down from you? It’s traumatic, don’t you think?

Chloe: Yeah, yeah. Brady, you–you’re right. Thank you. Thank you so much for being concerned with my mental health. I’m sure that it’s just a coincidence that the remedy proposed would keep me away from philip.

Brady: You really think I’d do something like that?

Chloe: Yeah, I know you’d do something like that. You literally just did something like that.

Brady: All right, all right. It was a stretch. Can’t blame a guy for trying.

Chloe: Yeah, actually, I can. Listen to me, brady. I don’t like being a rope in this tug-of-war between you and philip. It stopped being funny about two decades ago, and I want it to stop. Now.

Gabi: Philip, I have no idea who put that keylogger thing on your computer. I don’t even know what it is!

Philip: That’s too high tech for you? You put an app on your phone so you could remote control julie’s pacemaker. The keylogger’s a piece of cake for you!

Jake: Hey, watch it, okay?

Philip: No, no. She put a device on my computer to record every keystroke I make, and now you’re keeping track of my emails, my passwords, whatever I type?

Jake: You don’t know that.

Philip: I don’t?

Jake: No.

Philip: Well, the first time my laptop froze up was right after I caught you in my office. You said you needed to use mine because yours wasn’t working.

Gabi: It wasn’t, and the monthly reports were due. You said you didn’t mind.

Philip: I would’ve minded if I had known you were installing spyware on my laptop.

Gabi: Philip, I work for you. We’re on the same team.

Philip: Yeah, that’s you, a real team player.

Gabi: Why would I do this?

Philip: To control the company. My mother called, and she said that’s what you two were up to. But it’s over. You’re both fired. Before treating your chronic migraine,

Brady: Chloe, I would love to stop fighting with philip. I really would, and I’m sure that’s gonna happen very soon, as soon as the guy grows up.

Chloe: Oh, you mean like you have? I don’t really see a difference in your behavior now versus when you were in high school.

Brady: Chloe, I’m young at heart.

Chloe: Another one-liner. You know what, everything’s just a joke to you, brady. Especially my relationship with philip.

Brady: You said it, not me.

Chloe: And I don’t think that you see, or maybe you just don’t care, that you are laughing at me. Not with me, but at me.

Brady: No. Hey, that was not my intention.

Chloe: Yes, it was!

Brady: No, I didn’t mean to–

Chloe: You cooked up this whole business trip just to get me away from philip and alone with you. You used my job to make me do what you wanted to do just to one-up philip.

Brady: Chloe, I didn’t cook anything up, first of all. Second of all, it was a legitimate meeting, one in which we crushed, by the way. Thank you. We’re a wonderful team.

Chloe: Yeah, we’re a wonderful team when you’re the owner, the coach, and the quarterback. Listen, you may think that this is some sort of a romantic comedy, but this is my life that you are messing with, and my career, and it is not funny. And how I feel about philip is no concern of yours. That should’ve been your cue to just say “I’m sorry” and go home.

Brady: [Sighs]

Chloe: [Sighs]

Brady: I’m sorry. Chloe, I’M…I’m sorry. I will go. I will go. I just–I wanted to see my grandfather to make sure he was okay.

Chloe: Okay, but make it quick, ’cause I don’t want philip getting back here and us reliving some nightmare scenario like what happened at wilkes-barre.

Brady: As I recall, it was philip that barged in like some outraged husband in some french farce, but, you know– sorry, old habit.

Chloe: Yeah. Very, very old.

Gabi: Philip, you are making a huge mistake. Jake and I had nothing to do with that keylogger.

Philip: Oh, come on, i practically caught you red-handed.

Gabi: I would never betray you like that.

Philip: “I would never betray you like that.” That’s exactly what you did. You see something you want, you’d run over your own grandmother with a tractor to get it.

Gabi: You and I are friends. In fact, we were almost more than that.

Jake: Okay, thanks for the reminder.

Philip: So I’m gonna have your personal effects packed up and sent to you. I believe this is titan property.

Jake: Okay. Wait. Wait, wait. Just a minute. Think about this for a second. Gabi’s computer was acting up, right? That’s why she had to use your computer.

Philip: So she says.

Jake: Okay, so what if somebody put spyware on her computer too? It could be a company-wide hack, and if somebody put spyware on her computer, then that means–that proves that gabi is not the perpetrator but yet another victim. Call it; I’m sure they can check it out remotely.

Gabi: But what if the hacker was just trying to target philip?

Jake: Gabi, we’ve already lost our jobs. We’ve got nothing left to lose. Look, it’s just a theory, but if somebody is trying to hack your company and it’s not us, don’t you think you’d wanna know who it is?

Eli: It sounds like you and ava had a pretty intense fight, huh?

Rafe: Yeah, well, you know ava. She’s pretty easily worked up, and she’s kind of a jealous person, and my sister, gabi, has been poking at her, so yeah. It was intense.

Eli: What happened when you told nicole about the fight?

Rafe: Nicole was actually cool about it. She pretty much saw eye to eye with everything that ava thought.

Eli: Really?

Rafe: Mm-hmm, yeah. So much so that nicole thought it’d be a good idea that we not see each other, you know, until ava and I work things out, which I thought was a little bit extreme, but now I think maybe she’s right. Yeah, ava needs to know that I care about her more than nicole.

Eli: Well, I’m sure ava was happy to hear that.

Rafe: Yeah, she almost didn’t hear it. When I came home, lights at my place were out, and ava was sitting there with her suitcase packed.

Eli: That’s what you wanted to come home to.

Rafe: Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. It was the third intense relationship conversation that I had for the day.

Eli: My god. I know you were exhausted and ticked off.

Rafe: Yeah, I was, a little bit at first. You know, ’cause it seemed a little dramatic.

Eli: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: But then actually, I saw how hurt ava was, and she made it clear that she did not want to be with me if I wanted to be with nicole.

Eli: Is that what you told her?

Rafe: Well, I was– I was honest. I told her that my friendship with nicole had, you know, kinda become more than a friendship.

Eli: And how did she take that?

Rafe: Well, not great, as you can imagine, right? But I was able to convince ava that I wanted to be with her, not nicole.

Eli: And was that honest too?

Nicole: Rafe told me what you said about him, about me.

Ava: Look, I never said that–I never thought that you set out to get him, just that the two of you turned into more than just friends.

Nicole: Look, ava, I was nuts. I probably still am. And yes, I leaned on rafe way too much, and that wasn’t fair to you, but rafe was just being a friend to me. That’s all.

Ava: No, it wasn’T.

Nicole: Damn it. Look, rafe had no interest in me romantically. That was all in your head.

Ava: No, it isn’T.

Nicole: All right, you know what? Suddenly, I’m not very thirsty.

Ava: Nicole, it’s true! Rafe told me himself.

Abe: [Exhales]

Paulina: Why won’t you say something?

Abe: Are you thinking about us getting married?

Paulina: I should never have told you. Now I’ve scared you off.

Abe: No. No, you haven’T. The idea has crossed my mind.

Paulina: Are you telling me you wanna marry me? This is the sound of an asthma attack…

Rafe: Yeah, of course I was being honest. I care about ava, and I wanna make things work with her.

Eli: Even if it means giving up on nicole? She’s not married anymore.

Rafe: That doesn’t mean she wants to jump into another relationship. And besides, I don’t even know if she’s interested in this.

Eli: Maybe she is.

Rafe: Doesn’t matter. Okay? I have made up my mind, and that’s it.

Eli: Okay.

Rafe: Okay.

Eli: All right, it is what it is. Look, I’m–I’m happy for you and ava. It just sucks that you had to lose a friend in the process.

Nicole: Rafe said that?

Ava: He said that. I was ready to leave.

Nicole: What?

Ava: Look, I told him that i wanted to be with him, but not if he wanted to be with you. That’s when he admitted that I was right.

Nicole: I didn’t know.

Ava: Yeah. It’s the one time in my life that I wished I had been wrong and that it was actually all in my head.

Nicole: I’m so sorry.

Ava: It’s okay. It’s okay. We talked, honestly for once, and he told me that he would put those feelings behind him and that I was the one he wanted. So we kissed and we made up.

Nicole: Good. I’m glad.

Ava: Yeah. Like I said, you know, it was good because we talked and we were really honest with each other, and I’m just hoping that you and I can do the same thing.

Nicole: What do you mean?

Ava: Nicole, I need to know. How do you feel about rafe?

Brady: You’re right. I should not interfere in your personal business, chloe.

Chloe: Yeah, I know. I am right.

Brady: All right, then I’m just gonna go see if my granddad’s okay.

Chloe: Okay, well, give him my best.

Brady: I’ll do that. Chloe, listen. This is not a ploy. Are you gonna be okay here alone?

Chloe: Yeah. I’m okay.

Brady: Do you even know when philip is coming home?

Chloe: No, we haven’t spoken since wilkes-barre. He knew that I was upset with him, so he’s giving me some space, but I think that he’s learned his lesson.

Brady: Good.

Chloe: [Sighs] At least I hope he has.

Gabi: This isn’t gonna work. You can’t just bluff your way out of this like a poker game.

Jake: Trust me on this.

Gabi: When that it guy sees that my computer is clean, he’s gonna be convinced that I’m the hacker. It’s gonna blow up in our faces.

Philip: Thanks, gunther.

Gabi: Look, philip, it was just a thought.

Philip: You were right. They found a keylogger on her laptop too.

Jake: Meaning she’s not the one who hacked yours.

Philip: I’m gonna have it check out the computers of all the executives. So now the question is, who did this?

Jake: Dimera. Chad and ej are pissed I switched teams.

Philip: I wouldn’t put it past ’em.

Gabi: You know what, though? If they hacked gabi chic, it could be basic black, but I don’t see nicole doing something like this. Philip, wait, you don’t think…

Philip: It’s brady. To be a thriver

Abe: Well, I’m not saying that we should get married tomorrow, but I have thought about it.

Paulina: Well, I knew you’ve been married before, and I wasn’t sure if you ever wanted to do it again.

Abe: Yeah. Well, it’s been ten years since I lost lexie, and I still miss her.

Paulina: Of course you do. It was a happy marriage, wasn’t it?

Abe: For 20 years. But I told myself that if I ever got married again, it would have to be to someone very special.

Paulina: That doesn’t rule me out?

Abe: [Chuckles] You know, we’ve had some… we’ve had some rocky moments, but I feel the same way you feel about tonight. It just–it just felt right. And, well, if things keep going in this direction, I could see getting married.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Well, we’ll take it nice and easy. How about a week from thursday?

[Both laugh] Oh, abe. Wait, I just want you to know, I think that you are worth waiting for. Ooh.

[Both laugh] How about a week from friday?

[Both laugh]

Abe: Oh!

Nicole: Ava, I don’t feel that way about rafe.

Ava: Are you sure?

Nicole: Yes, I’m positive. Why do you keep asking me that?

Ava: It’s just that, you know, you and rafe, you were so close, and I just– I need to know where I stand.

Nicole: Yes, but I told him that we couldn’t see each other for a while because I was screwing things up for you guys, and I’m sorry about that, but you have–you don’t have to worry about me, at all.

Ava: Okay. I appreciate that. I do, and I do think it’ll be best for the time being for the two of you just not to see each other. And I’m sorry. I’m so sorry about that.

Nicole: Oh, please. Don’t be. Not seeing rafe is not a problem for me. Okay?

[Laughs]

[Uncomfortable laughter]

Gabi: [Sighs] My nerves are shot. I thought we were done for.

Jake: Oh, ye of little faith.

Gabi: Talk about faith. You put that spyware on my laptop, didn’t you? It was only you that could’ve done that. You were spying on me spying on philip.

Jake: I was protecting you. Remember all the time I spent at the mansion?

Gabi: Vividly.

Jake: Well, I finally figured out why the old man taught all the kids chess. He was teaching them to think of the move after the move after the present move.

Gabi: You put that keylogger on my laptop in case philip found the one I put on his.

Jake: I knew philip was going to accuse you first, so we had to be ready for him.

Gabi: Why didn’t you tell me?

Jake: I figured you already had enough on your plate.

Gabi: Or you like having the means to check up on me.

Jake: [Chuckling] Oh, gabi. You have a suspicious mind.

Gabi: Hell, I would’ve done the same thing. You know what, here’s to the man that saved our jobs. You’re lucky that I use a website to access the keylogger program, or else it would’ve found out that I’m the hacker when they checked my laptop.

Jake: What, you think I didn’t know that? It’s a pretty genius move.

Gabi: If you do say so yourself.

Jake: I do. In fact, it’s the move the future ceo of titan would make, don’t you think? Huh?

Gabi: [Scoffs]

Chloe: Hey. How’s victor?

Brady: He wasn’t resting. He just wanted to get away from the police. He was afraid that they would arrest him for excessive celebration.

Chloe: Oh, no, you’re not saying that he’s actually enjoying bonnie’s plight?

Brady: He said that watching bonnie be taken out of his house in handcuffs was as beautiful as the winged victory.

Chloe: Aw, the old sweetie.

[Both laugh]

Brady: Yeah, it’s justin I’m worried about, though.

Chloe: Yeah, today was supposed to be such a joyful day.

Brady: Yeah. Oh, my gosh, you know what– you know what a couple days from now is?

Chloe: Our wedding anniversary.

Gabi: It was brilliant, especially after that email that philip drafted. He’s already crazy jealous of brady. Did you see the look in his eye when I said that it was brady behind that spyware?

Jake: Yeah. He looked mad enough to kill.

Philip: I know what you did, and you’re never gonna get away with it.

Chloe: Philip, please, please, do not do this. Brady just gave me a lift home. When we got here, there was cops everywhere.

Philip: I’m not talking about him stalking you. I’m talking about him trying to take away my company.

Philip: He put spyware on my computer…

Philip: And gabi’s too.

Philip: My lawyers are looking into it, brady, and once we have the proof, I’m gonna put your ass in prison for corporate espionage.

Eli: Well, I gave him the file, but he seemed distracted.

Lani: Rafe is never distracted.

Eli: He’s dealing with some personal issues, but I think he’s got it all settled out now.

Rafe: Ava.

Ava: Well, this is a surprise.

Rafe: Well, yeah, I figured you’d be dropping off your résumé and thought I’d stop by and maybe we could have dinner, but I’m interrupting.

Ava: It’s my pleasure. It was good to see you.

Eli: So how does it feel to be back on the job?

Lani: Exhausting. I am just so glad that aunt paulina and dad made dinner and it saved us from pigging out on stakeout food.

Eli: Yeah, dinner was nice. Pleasant. I’m glad that paulina and abe worked things out and got back together.

Lani: Yeah.

Paulina: I never thought this evening would turn out so well.

Abe: Well, I knew.

Paulina: Hmm?

Abe: Mm-hmm. You know, life has many more surprises with you around.

Paulina: Is that good?

Abe: Oh, that is very, very good.

Paulina: [Laughs]

Gabi: We have to keep pushing philip to go after brady. He’s gonna take it too far, and then that’s when victor’s gonna fire him.

Jake: And we’ll be right there ready to take over.

Gabi: To victory.

Chloe: You want me to quit my job.

Philip: Look, what brady did is illegal. You don’t wanna get mixed up with that guy when I take him down.

Chloe: You don’t have any proof.

Philip: Not yet.

Philip: I know he did.

Chloe: Okay, well, I’m not quitting until you can prove it.

Philip: Well, that’s up to you.

Chloe: Oh, well, that’s very nice of you to acknowledge that.

Philip: But when it turns out that I’m right, I want you to leave that job and brady for good.

Chloe: Okay, but if you are wrong, I don’t want to hear a word about brady ever again. Okay?

Brady: How you doing? You look kinda down.

Nicole: That’s why I’m eating my feelings.

Rafe: So what were you and nicole talking about?

Ava: Oh, well, she was just telling me how she never wants to come between the two of us, and I was thanking her for stepping out of the picture. You still okay with that?

Gabi: Mm-hmm.

Jake: What’s up with you? You split early. Half day?

Gabi: Hardly; I have been spying on philip’s laptop. Less distractions here. And I finally have exactly what I need to bring him down.

Philip: “To brady V. Black, basic black. From philip R. Kiriakis, ceo of titan industries. Re: Our recent meeting in wilkes-barre, pennsylvania. Dear mr. Black, per this document, I respectfully request that you cease and desist… from trying to seduce chloe when you know she’s in a relationship with me. You’re a pathetic piece of slime son of a bitch who will pay the price if you don’t keep your damn hands off my woman.”

[Exhales]

Belle: Philip did what? No, I totally understand. You have every right to feel that way, chloe. Yeah, I’ll talk to him. Right now? I, um… yeah, I can go right now.

Shawn: [Whispers] What?

Belle: No, no, no, no, chloe, everything’s gonna be okay. Of course I’ll tell you. Okay, love you too. Bye.

Shawn: What was that all about?

Belle: [Sighs]

Justin: Bonnie.

Bonnie: Hm?

Justin: Something wrong?

Bonnie: [Chuckles] What could be wrong? Marrying a dreamboat like you? I’m sorry, where were we?

Xander: I have an objection.

Steve: [Scoffs] Okay, whatever issue you think you have will have to wait for another time. Now get out.

Xander: Oh, I’m not going anywhere, mate. Don’t worry, this won’t take long.

Justin: Xander, leave. Now.

Xander: You’re gonna wanna hear this, cuz. I guarantee it. You might even thank me.

Kayla: What’s this about?

Xander: Glad you asked. Quite simple, really. I had a briefcase full of cash in my room which has gone missing. And the only person that could’ve taken it is bonnie.

Justin: Why would bonnie be in your room?

Xander: Oh, I can think of one million reasons. But why don’t you ask her?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

 

Shawn: So what, you’re just leaving?

Belle: Where is my phone?

Shawn: It’s in your hand.

Belle: Oh, duh. Thank you.

Shawn: I mean, hold on. I’m confused; I thought we were having dinner.

Belle: We are. I’m just gonna go over to titan for two seconds.

Shawn: Ugh, to see philip.

Belle: Chloe asked me to talk to him about this boneheaded move he just made.

Shawn: Oh, what boneheaded move now?

Belle: Ugh, well, for starters, he completely ignored my advice and got on the titan jet–

Shawn: Okay, never mind. Never mind. I take it back. I don’t want to hear about it. Unless it involves a crime and I get to go over and happily arrest him, I don’t want to hear it.

Belle: Well, there’s no crime. Well, there’s a crime of the heart, I guess.

Shawn: Can’t chloe just handle her own relationship issues?

Belle: Yes, of course she can, but she asked me to go, and what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t have her back? Listen, it’s only gonna be a few minutes. Order the mozzarella sticks and I’ll be back before you’re done. Oh, and will you order me a burger with swiss and no onions?

Shawn: Mm-hmm.

Belle: Okay.

Shawn: “Crime of the heart,” my ass.

Lani: Babies are sound asleep.

Eli: And I just paid the nanny.

Lani: Whoo, we are so lucky we found her. Especially since she’s giving us this two-for-one deal.

Eli: Yeah, she’s really great with them, and I think the twins like her as well.

Lani: Mm, they do.

Eli: So how was your first day back on the job?

Lani: It was great. But, um, I do have to admit that I really missed jules and carver.

[Chuckles] And every break I had, I just– I found myself looking at their pictures on my phone.

[Both chuckle]

Eli: Well, if you want, we can stand over their cribs and monitor every move they make while they sleep.

Lani: Oh, can we?

Eli: Okay, okay. Hey, whatever mama wants.

Lani: [Chuckles]

Bonnie: This is just–

[Scoffs] Your room?

Xander: Come on, bonbon, don’t be coy.

Justin: Bonnie, did you go to xander’s room?

Bonnie: Um, yes, I did. But to invite this lunkhead to our wedding.

Justin: Why would you do that?

Bonnie: Because he’s family. Victor refused to come and none of your sons could make it on such short notice, so I thought inviting your cousin would be a nice surprise.

Xander: The only surprise was you running off with all my cash. Although, knowing your history, that’s not really that much of a surprise, is it?

Justin: Xander, you stop–

Steve: Whoa, whoa, whoa.

This is obviously a private matter. I will, uh, give you some time.

Kayla: Xander seems to have a newfound habit of crashing private parties and making scandalous claims.

Xander: Ah, but in the case of nicole and eric’s anniversary party, which is what I assume you’re alluding to, I merely stated fact. And that party is strangely relevant because that’s how I earned the million dollars in question. And in that case, my “scandalous claim” was true. Just as it is in this case. Isn’t that right, bonnie?

Bonnie: Please just leave.

Steve: I’ll show you out.

Justin: Wait, wait, wait. I want to clear this up.

Xander: Now that’s more like it, cuz.

Justin: So did you actually witness bonnie taking your money?

Xander: I didn’T.

Steve: Okay, you see? This is total bull.

Xander: If you would let me finish. I was in the shower exfoliating when I thought I heard someone come into the room. Ah, you guys don’t exfoliate?

Justin: So you thought you heard bonnie enter your room?

Xander: I know I did.

Justin: How can you be so sure?

Xander: Because I set my keycard on the desk next to the door like I always do, but when I came out of the shower, it was on a side table. Obviously, bonnie swiped it when she came to invite me to these proceedings, then she slipped back in and helped herself to my money.

Justin: That is pure conjecture.

Xander: It’s nothing but the truth, counselor. Of course, I understand why you’d want fair compensation to marry this woman, but you’re gonna have to find some other sucker to pay bonnie’s dowry.

Bonnie: No, don’t–don’T. Don’T. Just–

Justin: Is any of what xander’s saying true?

[Dramatic music]

 

[Keycard beeping]

Bonnie: Oh, thank god.

[Water running] Oh!

[Chuckles]

[Knocking at door] Who are you gonna believe? Xander cook, a common criminal? Or the woman you love and are about to marry? To be a thriver

Eli: All right, red vines, vinegar chips, couple sodas.

Lani: Uh… [Chuckles] This is not dinner, babe. This is stake-out food.

Eli: That’s because we’re going on a stake-out. Detective grant, you and I, we’re gonna walk in–tiptoe. We’re gonna walk in, tiptoe into the nursery…

Lani: Mm-hmm?

Eli: And we have two special persons of interest in there that we’re gonna monitor.

Lani: Kay, do you want to brief me on our subjects?

Eli: Absolutely. The first suspect: Jules grant, aka “salem’s angel.” She does, like, this cute thing with her lip. Like, she curls her lip. It’s the cutest thing that you ever saw in your whole life. And the second suspect: Carver grant, aka “cc.”

Lani: “Cc?”

Eli: “Cute and cuddly.” What? He does this thing where he stretches his arms up when he sleeps, and he loves a good game of peekaboo.

Lani: Mm.

Eli: Yeah.

Lani: You noticed all that?

Eli: Of course. Detective grant here. I am a highly trained professional at watching the human nature. You know? But don’t trip. I got you. I’ll teach you everything I know.

Lani: Oh, okay, thanks.

Eli: Yeah, you’re welcome. Of course; it’s your first day back on the job. I gotta ease you back into it.

Lani: Mm-hmm. I like the sound of that. But, um… the vinegar chips are mine.

Eli: I thought I was about to get a kiss, but nope, these are–seniority.

Lani: What?

Eli: So they’re mine.

Lani: No, I am the mother of your–

Eli: No, these are my chips.

[Phones beeping]

Lani: [Chuckles]

Paulina: I just texted both eli and lani in case one of them doesn’t see it. Well, we better get started cooking.

Abe: Oh, I guess you can’t get enough of them, huh?

Paulina: Actually, I can’T.

[Both chuckle] Oh, what, you– oh, you wanted it to be just us tonight?

Abe: Well, no. I love eating together with lani and eli, but we did just spend labor day weekend together.

Paulina: That’s why i invited them over. We need to rehash everything that happened.

Abe: That could take a while. That was a pretty eventful weekend.

Paulina: Mm-hmm, which we can dine out on for years, starting tonight. And I know this is lani’s first day back to work from maternity leave, so I told them “bring the kids.”

Abe: Well, that was very thoughtful.

Paulina: Oh, I can tell from the look on your face you do not like this idea.

Abe: You know, I– I just think that they– they just might be exhausted.

[Phone beeps]

Paulina: Oh, from lani. “We’d love to come. We’ll bring dessert.” See? See that? They can’t get enough of us either.

[Laughs] Oh, let’s go. Let’s go get– get going on that chicken milanese.

[Chuckles]

Abe: Couldn’t we just order pizza?

Gabi: Well, apparently, philip took the titan jet to wilkes-barre.

Jake: Oh, pennsylvania, my home state? What the hell’s in wilkes-barre? I mean, aside from that actor from “the breakfast club.” You know, the really good-looking one? What the hell was his name?

Gabi: Jake, jake, please.

Jake: What?

Gabi: Focus.

Jake: Okay, okay, sorry. So tell me, what’s in wilkes-barre?

Gabi: Brady and chloe.

Jake: Wow. Well, that just got a hell of a lot more interesting.

Gabi: And apparently, they had the dimera jet, which had some mechanical issues. They got stranded out there for the night, and philip flew out there, caught them together in bed.

Jake: [Laughs]

Philip: I’m kind of busy.

Belle: Yeah, you’re kind of an idiot.

Philip: What?

Belle: I just hung up the phone with chloe. What the hell, philip? After I gave you, like, a million reasons why it was a stupid idea to go after chloe and brady, you got on a private jet anyway?

Philip: And caught them in bed together.

Belle: Oh, please. Nothing happened. Because chloe is with you.

Philip: They were spooning, belle; if I hadn’t gotten there when I did, god knows what would’ve happened. Although it’s not too hard to guess. What else did chloe say?

Belle: She’s pretty ticked off that you don’t trust her.

Philip: I don’t know how many times I have to say this. Of course I trust chloe, but there’s not a chance in hell that I trust brady. Especially after this latest stunt.

Xander: Not surprised that you’d resort to name-calling, bonnie. But for your information, I’m not a criminal, and any crimes I allegedly committed could never be called “common.” And it’s a bit risky, isn’t it? Invoking my reputation when you have quite the reputation yourself.

Justin: Bonnie is not that person anymore! She’s changed.

Steve: Yeah, but you haven’T. I know for a fact that you’ve been running drugs.

Xander: Oh, you’re late to the party, pal. Those charges have all been dismissed. Da had no proof.

Justin: And you have no proof of these absurd allegations against bonnie, so get the hell out of here now.

Xander: Fine, I’ll just go upstairs and get what I came for. Best wishes and all that, yeah?

Bonnie: No, wait, wait! You can’t go up there.

Xander: Why not?

Kayla: Why can’t he go upstairs?

Calista: You ready to go to hell, bonnie?

Bonnie: Let’s just see who gets there first!

[Both grunting]

[Muffled gunshot]

[Groans]

Kayla: Oh, my gosh. Bonnie, what happened?

Bonnie: Oh, you mean the feathers. Um, oh, gosh. They just don’t make pillows the way they used to. I was just trying to fluff one up, and it just exploded on me.

Kayla: And calista?

Bonnie: Oh, uh, it’s the darndest thing. She said she wasn’t feeling well and she just keeled right over. You can’t go up there because of calista.

Xander: Who the hell is calista?

Kayla: Bonnie’s sister-in-law.

Justin: Bonnie.

Bonnie: Huh?

Justin: What is going on with you and calista? Okay, we’re not gonna ask for

Abe: All right, that was pretty good, I gotta tell you. Oh, man, you know, um– I’d like to propose a toast.

Paulina: Hmm?

Abe: Yes, to a team effort.

Paulina: Oh, well, you did most of the work, but I’ll drink to that.

[Both chuckle] Where’d you learn your way around the kitchen like that?

Abe: Ah, well, it was necessity at first. You know, when I was a bachelor, during my bachelor days…

Paulina: Uh-uh.

Abe: I had to improvise. It was either that or eat take-out every night, and–so I enjoyed it. Started watching the food channel from time to time. Yeah, reading recipes.

Paulina: Well, I am impressed.

Abe: [Chuckles] Well, you know, why eat take-out when it’s so easy and enjoyable to create a meal and you savor it with a nice glass of wine?

Paulina: You are speaking my language.

[Both chuckle]

Abe: Well, you know, we have the hors d’oeuvres, they’re all done, dinner’s in the oven, and we’re waiting on eli and lani to bring the dessert so…I think we have everything covered.

Paulina: Well, I’m afraid that I can’t wait that long for something sweet.

Abe: Oh. Oh, well, let’s see.

[Chuckles] I am so glad that I wore this apron.

Paulina: You and me both.

[Both laugh] Ooh, a man that can cook in the kitchen and sizzle in the bedroom. You know something? You’re quite a catch, abraham carver.

Abe: Thank you, ms. Paulina price.

Paulina: Mm-hmm. Oh.

Abe: But for the record, I’m the one who caught you.

[Chuckles]

Belle: What is this?

Philip: Just a little memo to brady. “I’ve warned you to stay away from chloe more than once. If you’re not gonna listen, you better start looking over your shoulder because I will come after you.”

Belle: Philip!

Philip: “I will hurt you. I will keep hurting you until you get it through your head that chloe’s mine. And if you decide you want chloe more than life itself, that can be arranged!”

Belle: Okay, this is enough.

Philip: I’m just getting started.

Belle: All right, philip, I mean it. If you’re not careful, all this anger that you’re feeling towards brady is gonna bring you down.

Gabi: Philip’s anger towards brady’s gonna be his downfall. Look.

Jake: Memo to brady? What happened to the memo he was writing to the head of legal?

Gabi: Do you even listen to anything I say?

Jake: I do, but you’re just so damn hot, I just get distracted.

Gabi: No, we need to pay attention to this. Please listen. That keylogger that I installed in philip’s computer, it is showing me everything in real time. This is happening right now, and it is nasty. You need to read this. Right there.

Jake: “If I ever catch you near a bed with chloe again, I’m gonna cut off your”– whoa! Ow, oh!

Gabi: Mm-hmm.

Jake: Whoo!

Gabi: Crazy, right?

Jake: That brings me back to my wise guy days. I mean, that, that right there, is some next level anger.

Gabi: Right. Now we just have to get philip to act on that anger. See, once he’s proven that he’s this jealous maniac that might even resort to violence, victor will fire him, and then I can take over.

Jake: Or me.

Gabi: We just have to wait for the right moment. Or create it. I mean, I vote for being proactive.

Jake: So what, you’re saying trigger philip to go off on brady?

Gabi: I guarantee it’ll be a cinch.

Jake: Yeah, maybe. But if we’re not careful, someone could get killed.

Bonnie: Calista drowned herself in mimosas and passed right out, and she’s upstairs sleeping it off. Kayla, you saw her, didn’t you?

Xander: Then I promise I’ll be very quiet.

Bonnie: No, no. No, no!

Justin: What the hell? This is the sound of an asthma attack…

Eli: One strawberry rhubarb pie.

Paulina: Thank you, sweetie. Now what’d you get for everyone else?

[Laughs] These precious little dolls, oh.

Lani: I hope you don’t mind that we brought them. We couldn’t get a sitter, and we couldn’t ask julie and doug to take them again tonight.

Paulina: Did I not tell you to bring them? And we want them here, don’t we? My angels. And of course, you couldn’t impose on doug and julie. I mean, they’ve done enough already, those two. Taking these twins for labor day weekend.

Eli: Something smells good.

Paulina: Ah-ha! Credit where it’s due. Your father, he just swept in here and used his culinary magic and saved me from ordering pizza.

Eli: “Kiss the cook,” huh? You’re gonna have to settle for a fist bump from me.

Abe: Thank you for saying that.

[All chuckling] Now, we all spent a wonderful, wonderful weekend together. There you are, my dear. And as paulina said, we can’t get enough of you.

Lani: Same here, obviously.

[Laughs]

Abe: Well, we’re so glad that you two could make it tonight.

Paulina: Yes, we are, and as I was telling abraham, we’ve got a lot of rehashing to do. I mean, did we have a labor day weekend to write home about or what?

Lani: I’d say it was one for the books.

Paulina: Oh, yes.

Abe: Yes.

Eli: Cheers.

Xander: Sorry to intrude. Just a quick look around, and I’ll let you rest in peace. There you are!

Xander: Not a chance.

Xander: It’s exactly what I think.

Bonnie: Those are for my honeymoon. It’s my unmentionables–

Xander: This is the money you stole.

[Gasps]

Xander: What are you doing with a gun?

Justin: Yeah, bonnie. What are you doing with a gun?

Jake: I’m just saying, our boy phil, he’s a powder keg. Spilling blood all over the page, meaning if we’re not careful, something could go seriously wrong.

Gabi: What, like murder? I mean, you really think that philip has the guts to murder brady? If we’re lucky, it’s just gonna be some loud, public confrontation, maybe a fist or two thrown. Everyone’s gonna find out that philip is this unhinged, jealous maniac. And we can back it up with a trail of flame emails fired off to brady.

Jake: That’ll definitely go against his ceo image.

Gabi: But there’s more.

Jake: Oh, god. I’m almost afraid to ask.

Gabi: I was doing some research, internal titan documents. And philip, when he first started, he was laundering mob money through the company, and xander ratted him out.

Jake: Okay, and xander ended up on the streets, and not philip, so what does that tell you? Family protects family.

Gabi: Yes, but if philip hurts family, like, assaults brady, victor might come down hard on him with some tough love. You like?

Jake: Let’s do it. Let’s find a way to push philip to the brink of that edge.

Belle: If you send that email, you will regret it.

Philip: And why is that?

Belle: Oh, what? You can’t figure it out? Because there’ll be an electronic trail of potentially prosecutable threats, and that’ll play right into brady’s hands. Philip, this is exactly what brady wants you to do. He wants you to blow up so he can use it against you, both professionally and personally, so you need to be smarter than this. You’ve got chloe. Just enjoy it. Be happy. Look, I know that you just needed to vent, and that’s why you would write such hateful and ugly threats, but now that you’ve gotten it out of your system, you need to delete the email.

Philip: [Sighs] Right. It is ugly and hateful. I probably shouldn’t send it. But I’m gonna send it anyway. I order my groceries online now.

Belle: [Scoffs] Oh, my god. You did not just send that email.

Philip: Actually, it didn’t go through. What the hell? It froze again! What the hell is going on with my computer?

Belle: Ah, the fates have finally intervened to save you from yourself.

Kayla: I don’t understand any of this.

Steve: You know what I think? I think everything’s gonna work itself out, one way or another. At least we have a minute so i can tell you how beautiful you look.

Kayla: [Chuckles]

Steve: You’re as beautiful as you were on our wedding day.

Kayla: Which one?

Steve: All of them.

Kayla: [Laughs]

Steve: I know what you’re thinking. She’s the same old bonnie lockhart. Once a thief, always a thief.

Kayla: You know, it’s just the way that she talked about justin. You know, their future, how much he means to her. I was really convinced that she had changed and that she loved justin too much to risk what they have.

Steve: I hope you’re right about that, sweetness.

Xander: Well, isn’t it obvious? She was gonna use that gun at the salem inn to rob me.

Justin: Is this true?

Bonnie: No, it’s not. I did not take a gun to xander’s room.

Xander: I won’t speak for you, cousin, but I’m not inclined to believe a word that comes out of this woman’s mouth. She’s probably already pilfered who knows how many thousands.

Justin: Bonnie, what the hell is going on? What is going on?

Bonnie: Can we just go somewhere else, please? Somewhere else. Let calista sleep.

Xander: Your sister-in-law sleeps like the dead. All this ruckus and she hasn’t even moved a hair.

Justin: [Sighs] You sure she’s okay?

Eli: Well, while we’re all here having enjoyed a truly wonderful meal, I’d like to make a toast to my beautiful wife. First day back on the job.

Lani: Ah.

Paulina: Oh, honey. Honey, I was wondering…

Lani: What, auntie?

Paulina: Well…I know you love your job…

Lani: Mm-hmm.

Paulina: I mean, and I’m proud of you for being so good at it, but being a cop, that’s dangerous, obviously, but you’re a mom now. I mean, you got those little beauties to think about.

Lani: Auntie?

Paulina: Mm-hmm.

Lani: You are starting to sound like my mom now.

Paulina: Well, I’m just saying that these days with your babies, they’re so precious.

Lani: I know, auntie. And I thought long and hard about going back to the department, but I realized that I want my kids to see that–

Eli: How much a badass detective you are. That’s what.

[Laughter]

[Cell phone rings]

Lani: Detective price. Where? When? Yeah, we’re on our way. That was rafe. We’re needed on a case.

Paulina: Right now?

Lani: Yeah. Right now, unfortunately. I’m so sorry we have to cut the evening short. It’s been so great.

Abe: Well, don’t worry about it, honey.

Lani: Ah, the twins. Do you two mind watching them tonight? Hopefully we won’t be too late.

Abe: Oh, do we mind?

Paulina: No, we’d love to, and don’t worry. We will hold off on dessert until you get back.

Lani: Okay.

Eli: Thank you both.

Paulina: Uh-huh.

Abe: All right, my man.

Paulina: I’m so sorry. Oh, I was having such a good time.

Lani: I know.

Paulina: Oh. Mm. You be safe out there, okay?

Lani: Auntie…

Paulina: Okay?

Lani: Don’t worry. We’ll be okay. Okay?

Paulina: Mm-hmm.

Lani: Love you.

Paulina: Love you.

Eli: See y’all later.

Lani: Bye.

Abe: See you.

Justin: Bonnie…

Bonnie: [Sighs] No, justin, please.

Justin: [Gasps] Is struggling to manage your type 2 diabetes

Philip: Gunther in it is checking out whatever bug’s bitten my computer. He’s a whiz. Hopefully he can find the problem.

Belle: Well, I hope he doesn’T.

Philip: Since when are you against freedom of expression?

Belle: Since it could land you in a world of trouble.

Philip: I know what I’m doing.

Belle: Oh, please. You are running on rage right now, and that is not going to end well. You really need to listen to me and just cool off, or you are gonna lose chloe. And everything that’s important to you.

[Cell phone rings]

Philip: Hey, gunther. That was quick. You found what on my laptop?

Gabi: So weird. No, philip never sent that email. He hasn’t typed a single thing in 20 minutes.

Jake: Maybe he took a break. Maybe you should take a break. I know you said you don’t like distractions, but…

Gabi: What did you have in mind?

Jake: I don’t know, was thinking maybe you can spend a little less time with your software and a little more time with my–

Gabi: Shh.

[Both laugh]

Kayla: It’s so unfair. If justin has his heart handed to him again at another wedding…

Steve: I know, baby.

Kayla: It just can’t be true. That’s all there is to it.

Steve: I hope you’re right. But what I don’t understand is, why would xander make up that entire story about the money?

Xander: Oh, do you mean this money?

Kayla: Where’s bonnie?

Xander: Upstairs. Undoubtedly batting her baby blues at justin and spinning some sob story about how innocent she is, but she’s guilty as hell. And she’s gonna pay for what she did. I called the cops.

Kayla: Why did you do that? I mean, you have your money. Why’d you call the police?

Xander: The woman had a gun. She could’ve shot me. But now it seems like the groom is the one who dodged a bullet.

Justin: She’s been shot. Bonnie. Bonnie. What have you done?

Bonnie: I can explain.

Justin: You stole $1 million. Your sister-in-law is dead in our bed. How do you explain that?

Lani: We would like to hear that answer too. On the outside, I looked fine.

[Laughter]

[Knocking at door]

Jake: Ah, don’t get it.

Gabi: I won’T.

[Knocking at door] Okay, you know what? Let me–hold on. Hold on.

[Sighs] Philip. What are you doing here?

Philip: Why the hell are you spying on me?

[Door clicks]

Belle: I’m back.

Shawn: Ah, perfect timing. I just polished off the mozzarella sticks, and our burgers should be out here any minute.

Belle: Good.

Shawn: So how did things go with philip?

Belle: Oh, well, he was just as stubborn and irrational as usual. It just makes me so…

Shawn: Okay, never mind, never mind, never mind. Actually, I don’t wanna hear it. You know what? I don’t care. Sorry. I don’T.

Belle: You know what? You’re right. You shouldn’t care. And I’m really, really sorry that I left you like that.

Shawn: It’s okay. ‘Cause I just finished a nice long video chat with our daughter.

Belle: [Gasps] You talked to claire? Aww. I hate that I missed that. I really need to catch up with her.

Shawn: Well, you will have a lot of time to do that when we’re in joburg.

Belle: What?

Shawn: Yeah, the way I passed the time while you were gone is, yeah, I just, you know, booked us a couple of round-trip tickets to go see her.

Belle: Seriously?

Shawn: Mm-hmm, and I even splurged on business class.

Belle: [Laughing] Oh, my– I am so excited! We’re going to south africa! Yay!

Shawn: Business class.

Belle: [Laughs]

Bonnie: [Crying]

Eli: Bonnie lockhart, you’re under arrest for suspicion of murder and robbery.

Bonnie: [Sobbing] Justin… I’m sorry.

Eli: Let’s go. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you…

[Dramatic music]

Paulina: Your granddaddy abe, bless his heart, is finishing up the dishes, so that gives the three of us a chance to catch up, huh? Precious angels.

[Babies cooing] Everybody in town thinks of me as your great auntie paulina. But you can call me grandma.

[Chuckles] But don’t forget, it’s our little secret.
