Brady is at home on the phone with his son Tate. Kristen appears with mistletoe. Brady hangs up and questions what she is doing. Kristen points out that they are under a mistletoe and she’s sure he remembers what that means.

Sloan answers the door to see Nicole and questions what she’s doing there as Nicole sees Sloan and Eric in towels. Nicole tells Eric that she could ask him the same thing.

EJ tells Johnny that Susan was one of a kind and loved him very much. Johnny says it feels like just yesterday that Susan was there with them, enjoying Halloween and now it’s almost Christmas and she’s gone. EJ says that’s courtesy of Ava Vitali.

Ava and her vision of Charlie look over her bomb in the DiMera Crypt. Ava states that it has enough power to wipe out half the church. Ava declares that when EJ shows up at Susan’s funeral, he’s going to be the one resting in pieces.

Brady questions Kristen constructing a paper mistletoe just to hold it over his head. Kristen clarifies that Rachel made it in art class and she hoped that they could hang it together. Brady complains about Kristen encouraging Rachel’s fantasies about them getting together. Kristen claims that she’s encouraging Rachel’s creativity. Brady suggests an art project on the plant that saved Marlena’s life since that’s the only reason Kristen is staying here. Kristen argues that he doesn’t have to continue to remind her. Kristen tells Brady that today is Susan’s memorial so she wants to be there for EJ. Brady can’t believe her as he’s pretty sure that EJ doesn’t want Kristen anywhere near the church. Kristen tells him not to worry because she has a plan. Kristen then exits. Brady wonders aloud what could possibly go wrong.

EJ tells Johnny that Ava took so much from them. Johnny complains that he trusted her and cared for her but he had no idea how damaged she was, that she was capable of kidnapping Susan and driving off the road. EJ admits that even he didn’t think Ava would go that far, but he saw it with his own eyes. Johnny says it must have been horrible for him. EJ responds that he thought it would be the last time he saw either one of them, until he saw Ava at Thanksgiving.

Ava’s vision of Charlie asks if she’s having second thoughts about blowing EJ up. Ava responds that she was just thinking of how great it would be if all of her other enemies could get what’s coming to them too, starting with Nicole.

Eric questions how Nicole found him. Nicole explains that when Roman told her that he didn’t come home last night, she had a pretty good idea of where he might be. Sloan asks if she just started knocking on random doors. Nicole says she used to be a reporter, so it took about ten seconds to track down her address. Sloan calls her a stalker. Nicole walks in despite Sloan pointing out that she didn’t invite her. Nicole questions Eric sleeping with Sloan. Eric confirms that he is and asks what’s it to her.

Marlena and John meet in the town square as they finish Christmas shopping. Marlena tells him about getting Johnny a camera drone and some troll dolls for Holly but she doesn’t know if they will see Holly much over Christmas because of Nicole and Eric. John says they’ll just have to drop that off at Nicole’s and asks if she had any luck finding something for Rachel. Marlena confirms that she did and got her a junior marine biologist kit which excites John. Marlena points out that they both know they can’t give Rachel what she really wants for Christmas and that’s her parents being back together.

Sister Mary Moira appears at John and Marlena’s and complains about the Marlena doll that Susan had given her being evil. Brady remembers Kristen dressing up as Susan and says nice try Kristen.

Nicole calls Eric unbelievable. Sloan argues that Nicole is the one skulking around town, trying to catch Eric with other women. Nicole tells her to stay out of it but Sloan points out that she’s standing in the middle of her apartment, so she’s in it. Eric asks Sloan to give them a minute and promises it won’t take long. Sloan then goes to get dressed. Nicole asks what is wrong with Eric. Eric says nothing. Nicole says five minutes ago, they were planning their future together and now he’s getting in drunken bar fights and hooking up with trashy lawyers. Eric asks how dare she judge him for sleeping with Sloan when she’s hooking up with EJ.

Johnny questions EJ saying he saw Ava on Thanksgiving and asks how that’s possible. EJ admits he had a lot to drink and ended up on the crash site, where Ava was taunting and tormenting him. Johnny questions it being real. EJ explains that Tony and Chad showed up and Ava disappeared, so it wasn’t real and was likely a toxic combination of too much booze and even more guilt. EJ calls it ironic that in death, Ava made him feel as crazy as she was. Johnny is sorry he’s going through this. EJ thanks him for being here with him. Johnny hopes that laying Susan to rest will bring him some kind of peace as they hug. Johnny then exits the room.

Ava tells her vision of Charlie that Nicole destroyed her relationship with Rafe and then just moved on like nothing happened while making a pit stop with Eric Brady in between. Charlie remarks that she moves fast and asks if she and EJ are a couple now. Ava says that Nicole is living in his house so she asks what he thinks. Charlie agrees that she needs to get her comeuppance. Ava says the good news is that Nicole will most likely be accompanying EJ to the funeral which means she can kill two birds with one bomb.

John tells Marlena that this has to be really confusing for Rachel since her parents are living in the same house but they’re not together. Marlena says they know Brady moved Kristen in under duress but she just wonders why. John says he knows that Rachel was doing a lot better when Kristen was gone as they all were and that’s why they have to get Kristen out of their house and out of Brady’s life for good. Marlena then gets an idea.

Sister Mary Moira tells Brady that she came to see Marlena ahead of Susan’s funeral. Brady continues believing she is Kristen dressed as Sister Mary Moira and says this is never going to work. She insists that she is actually Sister Mary Moira. Brady questions her and asks if Sister Mary Moira would be okay with this as he raises the mistletoe and then kisses her.

Kristen goes to the DiMera Mansion and asks EJ for a drink which he gives to her. EJ says she can thank him by leaving. EJ questions what the hell she’s doing here. Kristen asks where else she would be to say goodbye to Susan. Kristen wants to be there for him at the funeral but EJ says over his dead body.

Nicole tells Eric that she and EJ are not sleeping with each other. Nicole says EJ just offered her and Holly a place to stay and it’s just temporary. Eric calls that so generous of him. Eric suggests Nicole should be spending her time looking for apartments instead of keeping track of him. Nicole says she’s worried about him. Eric asks if she was that worried when she encouraged Jada to have an abortion. Nicole asks if that’s why he’s flushing his life down the drain and argues that Jada made a choice, not her. Eric responds that he’s making choices too. Nicole calls them bad choices. Eric says one minute he thought they were going to be together and then they weren’t just like how he was about to be a father and then he wasn’t. Nicole argues that it’s been rough for everyone and that Eric drowning in self pity is not him. Eric asks who the hell he is then. Nicole calls him a good person who is loved and respected while Eric feels he was walked all over which Nicole disagrees with. Eric declares that he realized now while people like Nicole and Sami enjoy being so selfish and sabotaging because they do what they want without worrying about any consequences. Eric understands there’s a bit of rush to it and asks who wants to be the good twin when there’s so much fun being the bad twin.

Ava, in disguise, plants the bomb underneath the memorial table at the church. Ava looks at a framed photo of Johnny and Susan. Ava’s vision of Charlie asks if she’s reminiscing over her adventures in near cradle robbing. Ava states that Johnny was kind to her when EJ was declaring war and Gabi was trying to manipulate her. Ava says that Johnny was on her side and wonders if things would’ve been different if she just let him in to her life. Charlie remarks that Ava may have been Johnny’s cougar fantasy at one point, but now she’s just the crazy lady who killed his grandmother. Ava tells him to go away. Charlie argues that she doesn’t really want that. Ava says she appreciates him helping with her plan but she can do this on her own, so she doesn’t need him here. Charlie reminds her that he’s always with her as her vision of him then disappears. Ava puts the photo down as Johnny then arrives and calls out to her, asking if she’s a friend of Susan’s. Johnny says they aren’t quite ready yet and suggests she wait outside.

Sister Mary Moira is shocked by Brady kissing her. Brady then realizes his mistake and that she really is Sister Mary Moira. She questions what is wrong with him. Brady apologizes and calls it a total mistake. She then pulls out a ruler and starts smacking Brady with it.

Kristen acknowledges that EJ has hated her ever since she sided with Gabi in the DiMera vote. EJ responds that this has nothing to do with business. Kristen questions why he’s being so hostile then. EJ brings up how Kristen treated Susan when she was alive. Kristen admits that they didn’t always get along. EJ argues that Kristen tried to take him away from Susan when he was a baby. Kristen thought they got past that. EJ says she may have but Susan never did and was forever traumatized by what Kristen and Stefano did. EJ tells Kristen that her whole all about family act is not going to work this time because she doesn’t give a damn about him or Susan. EJ adds that Kristen is the last person that Susan would want at her funeral. EJ tells Kristen to get the hell out and let him grieve in peace. Kristen then turns and exits the mansion.

Sloan comes back and comments on Nicole still being there. Eric says that she was just leaving. Nicole tells Eric to enjoy his afternoon delight and says not to say she didn’t warn him as she then exits. Sloan asks if Eric is sure he doesn’t want to go after Nicole and if he’s okay. Eric assures that he’s good and there’s nothing to worry about. Sloan says she’s glad to hear that. Sloan notes that Nicole did make one solid point, that they still have time for love in the afternoon before she has to go to work. Eric likes the way she’s thinking, so they begin kissing.

John questions Marlena wanting him to get close to Kristen again, reminding her that he tried once before and it didn’t work out so well. Marlena clarifies that she doesn’t want him to seduce Kristen, but to be her friend and play on their long history while convincing her that she can trust him. John questions if Kristen would buy in to that. Marlena points out that her family is forsaken and her friend is in prison, so she feels Kristen would be looking for someone to confide in now. John admits it could work and once Kristen is vulnerable enough, he should be able to get her to tell him what she’s holding over Brady’s head. John asks where they start. Marlena thinks she has a way to persuade Kristen to let down her guard. John says the more he thinks about it, the more he likes her plan. John decides if they’re going to get Kristen out of their house, they have to start right now. Marlena asks him what about Susan’s memorial. John tells her to pay respects for both of them because Susan of all people would understand they are trying to save Brady and Rachel from Kristen DiMera. John then walks away.

Kristen returns home to Brady, who is icing his wrist. Kristen comments that he looks like he had a worse day than she did. Brady says she can bet on that. Brady thought she was going to the funeral. Kristen responds that EJ was not interested in her comfort. Brady says he tried to warn her of that. Kristen says so much for family and asks what happened to his hand. Brady explains that he got a visit from Sister Mary Moira, who let herself in, and when he saw her, he jumped to the wrong conclusion that it was Kristen in disguise because it was something she would do. Brady says by the time she convinced him it was really her, it was too late. Kristen questions what he did. Brady admits that he tried to call her bluff by using the mistletoe and kissing her. Kristen laughs at Brady making out with a nun while Brady says it’s not funny. Kristen asks if she freaked out. Brady feels he freaked out as they both were. Kristen continues laughing about it and then asks what would’ve happened next if it was her that he kissed.

Nicole goes home to the DiMera Mansion and pours a drink. EJ asks if everything is alright. Nicole informs him that she just found Eric in Sloan’s apartment and they were wearing only towels. EJ asks if they are together now. Nicole says they are at least for one night. EJ jokes that he didn’t know Eric had it in him to have a one night stand. EJ feels this proves how beneath her Eric truly is. Nicole acknowledges that Eric is troubled and says she shouldn’t be dumping this on EJ, especially today. EJ says it’s fine as he’d much rather be sharing a drink with her than his last visitor. Nicole asks who it was. EJ informs her that Kristen showed up, wanting to accompany him to Susan’s funeral. Nicole calls that nice of her. EJ reminds her that Kristen spent decades tormenting Susan. Nicole understands why he wouldn’t want Kristen to come to the service. EJ points out that Kristen was the only one of his siblings who were available. Nicole questions his brothers not coming. EJ explains that Tony and Anna are visiting Carrie and her family for the holidays, Stefan is dealing with a supply chain crisis at DiMera, and Chad is still grieving Abigail so he couldn’t put him through another funeral so soon. EJ states that it will just be he and Johnny and he doesn’t even know where they stand these days. Nicole offers to go with EJ.

Johnny approaches Ava in disguise from behind but Sister Mary Moira arrives at the church, crying and complaining, which takes Johnny’s attention away. They start to talk and Johnny mentions how hard this must be for her. Sister Mary Moira responds that she wasn’t complaining about that but about Johnny’s uncle, Brady Black which Johnny questions. She responds that Brady gave in to his carnal urges and kissed her which shocks Johnny. She remarks that it tasted like coffee and sin. Johnny tells her to hold that disturbing thought but when he turns around Ava is gone as Johnny says there was a woman right there. Johnny then questions where she is.

Eric and Sloan finish having sex. Sloan thinks they’re going to need another shower and invites Eric to shower with her. Eric says that sounds nice but he has to get to his brother’s. Sloan jokes that he’s no fun. Eric offers to let her go first but she says he can go if he’s in a hurry. Sloan adds that if Eric wants to come back tonight, they can pick up where they left off. Eric says he may take her up on that and goes to shower.

Kristen calls it a thought experiment and asks about if Brady kissed her because history shows that a kiss rarely stops at just a kiss. Kristen recalls times when they would be kissing each other goodbye and then they would suddenly be taking each others’ clothes off and heading straight back to the bedroom. Kristen asks why Brady keeps fighting this when they both know it’s still there between them. Brady tells her to stop. Kristen argues that she knows Brady wants her as much as she wants him. Kristen goes to kiss Brady when John comes home and sees them. Brady quickly moves away. John reminds Brady that he has a meeting. Brady thanks him and says he better get going so he hurries out the door. John remarks to Kristen that it looks like it’s just the two of them.

EJ thanks Nicole for her offer and says it means a lot but asks if she really wants to risk being seen with him in public again. Nicole decides she doesn’t care about that anymore because EJ is her friend and she wants to be there for him. EJ says in that case, they better get ready. Nicole decides to go change. EJ thanks her.

Johnny walks outside the church and greets Marlena as she arrives. Marlena notes him seeming distracted. Johnny tells her that he was just looking for a woman who was in the chapel and looking at pictures but when he tried to talk to her, she wouldn’t turn around. Marlena says that seems a bit odd. Johnny says he turned away for a moment and then she was gone. Marlena asks if he never saw her face. Johnny says she was wearing a big hat and had weird vibes but he just wanted to make sure she was okay. Marlena suggests people just deal with grief in different ways. Marlena thinks they should get inside. Johnny says he’ll be right behind her so Marlena tells him not to be long and heads inside.

Marlena enters the church and finds Sister Mary Moira praying. She tells Marlena that it’s good to see her. Marlena tells her that John is sorry he couldn’t be here today. Sister Mary Moira responds that it isn’t John who needs to apologize, but his son Brady that needs to atone. Marlena questions what Brady did. She explains that she came to see Marlena and instead, her stepson ravished her.

Brady meets Eric in the town square. Eric thanks him for coming. Brady says they have a lot to talk about and asks if it’s true that he was arrested and spent a night in jail. Eric remarks that great news travels fast in Salem. Brady asks what’s going on with him since he missed a whole day at work and he had to reschedule the entire summer swimsuit shoot and rebook the models. Eric apologizes. Brady says it cost him a lot of money and if he wasn’t his brother, he’d probably have to fire him. Eric responds that he’ll save him the trouble and tells Brady that he quits.

Marlena questions Sister Mary Moira saying that Brady kissed her in a romantic way. She argues there was nothing romantic about it but she’s been praying ever since. Marlena doesn’t understand why Brady would do that. She explains that Brady claimed he thought she was Kristen. She guesses that Kristen corrupted Brady’s soul and remarks that Marlena and John should have done a better job keeping Brady away from Kristen. Marlena responds that they are working on that.

John brings Kristen a beer. Kristen asks why he isn’t as Susan’s memorial with Marlena. John calls it a long story. Kristen says she’s got time. John claims that he and Marlena got in to a dispute while Christmas shopping. Kristen jokes about Salem’s greatest lovers having a fight. John calls it a difference of opinion. Kristen asks what they could possibly fight about. John responds that it was actually about her.

EJ and Nicole arrive at the church. Marlena tells EJ that she’s so sorry. EJ thanks her for being there. Marlena says Susan was a friend and she will miss her as they hug. EJ goes to say hi to his aunt, Sister Mary Moira. Marlena then greets Nicole and says she’s sorry about what happened between her and Eric. Nicole thanks her but thinks Marlena should check on Eric since he’s going through some things. Marlena asks if Nicole is here with EJ. Nicole clarifies that they are here as friends since his brothers couldn’t make it, so she thought she would show support. Marlena calls that kind of her. EJ approaches a flower arrangement which he finds was sent from Sami. Marlena calls that very thoughtful. The priest enters and asks if they are ready to start but EJ says they can’t start yet because Johnny isn’t there. Sister Mary Moira and Marlena mention seeing him earlier so they wonder where he could be.

Johnny finds Ava in disguise outside the church. Ava removes her sunglasses and confirms to Johnny that it’s her.

Nicole has a dream about getting back together with Eric, but then wakes up alone in bed.

Eric wakes up in bed with Sloan, who brings him coffee. Sloan comments that the coffee is hot but not nearly as much as he was last night as they kiss. Sloan asks if he has any regrets about last night.

Kate goes to Jada’s room and brings her tea. Kate comments that Jada looks good and relaxed. Jada responds that she’s feeling a lot better. Jada adds that she’s not happy that Eric is in jail but admits it’s a relief that he’s not right down the hall. Kate then reveals that Eric is no longer in jail as Roman told her they released him yesterday thanks to his new attorney, Sloan Peterson.

Eric assures Sloan that he has absolutely no regrets about last night. Sloan says she can tell something is wrong. Eric says he just has a headache since he doesn’t really drink a lot these days. Sloan offers an aspirin but Eric says he thinks he just needs some breakfast. Sloan offers a a granola bar but Eric says he was thinking something more substantial as they kiss in bed.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ is on the phone with Susan’s husband Roger, understanding that he couldn’t change his plans considering Susan’s memorial was rather impromptu. EJ remarks that he hopes the woman who murdered Susan is burning in Hell, while Ava watches him from outside the side door.

Kate tells Jada that she thought she knew but Jada says she hasn’t heard from Eric. Kate thought Eric would’ve at least checked on her when he got out to see how she was doing. Jada guesses he feels there’s no reason to now. Kate feels that Eric owes her that much. Jada disagrees and decides she’s glad that Eric is staying away. Jada declares that she and Eric are history, so he’s somebody else’s problem now.

Eric reminds Sloan about how Belle said that getting in to bed with Sloan would be the worst mistake of his life. Eric states that he doesn’t think she could’ve been more wrong.

Johnny goes to Nicole’s room at the DiMera Mansion to get some of Susan’s things for the memorial. Nicole tells him that she’s sorry about Susan and says she was a sweetheart. Johnny apologizes for acting like a jerk when he found out that EJ was letting her stay here. Johnny tells Nicole that he really likes her and he really likes Rafe, so he hoped things would work out between them. Nicole says she was too but she realized that she and Rafe were wrong for each other from the start. Nicole declares that Rafe is a really good person while she is not and never will be.

EJ finishes his call with Roger. Ava looks to open the door but stops as Rafe arrives. EJ asks Rafe what he can do for him. Rafe responds that he needs a statement about Susan’s death as EJ missed two appointments to give him one. EJ doesn’t know what more there is to say. EJ repeats that the ransom exchange went badly, Ava panicked and drove off the road, killing herself and Susan. EJ calls it very unpleasant for him to talk about. Rafe understands and respects that he is grieving, but he needs more details. EJ asks why and says it’s a bit late to bring Ava to justice. EJ tells Rafe to let the dead stay dead, or rot in Ava’s case. Ava remains outside watching him through the door.

Eric tells Sloan about how he left the priesthood the first time for Nicole, but he went back when things didn’t work out, and the second time was on a technicality. Sloan asks if she can presume he won’t run off to the priesthood for a third time. Eric says that’s a safe bet as he had some clear signs that he was on the wrong path anyway. Eric then continues kissing Sloan.

Johnny opens a jewelry box and takes out a cross which he says is a symbol of all things important to Susan. Johnny says Susan was truer to herself than anyone he knew and she never cared what anybody else said or thought about her. Johnny comments that she never changed or even wanted to and he has to admire that about a person. Johnny says he was just a kid when Nicole was his stepmom, but he remembers that she took really good care of him and Sydney regardless of her relationship with EJ. Nicole says they were a delight. Johnny recalls Nicole staying up with him all night and reading him a bedtime story after he had eye surgery. Nicole can’t believe he remembers all that. Johnny says it meant a lot to him. Johnny adds that as much as Sami may have despised her and tried to convince him that she was a horrible person, he never believed her. Johnny says they loved spending time with her and says she was funny. Nicole calls him very sweet. Johnny says he has to get to the church and exits.

Steve goes to the Brady Pub and greets Roman at the bar. Roman comments that he got back from Seattle fast. Steve responds that he and Stephanie are going to fly back for Christmas to join Kayla, Tripp, and Joey. Roman asks how Tripp is doing. Steve says he’s still broken up about his mother. Roman is glad Steve could be there for him and says he was lucky to be in Seattle when Ava was killed. Steve responds that it wasn’t exactly luck.

Rafe tells EJ that if someone other than Ava was in any way involved in Susan’s death, he would want them brought to justice. EJ questions what he’s implying. Rafe finds it strange that EJ is so reluctant to tell him the whole story about what happened. EJ repeats that it’s very difficult for him to talk about. Rafe wants to start with why EJ didn’t call the police when Susan was missing. EJ responds that Ava threatened to kill Susan if he told anyone, so he thought it would be a good idea to handle it himself. Rafe brings up EJ saying that something went wrong with the ransom exchange, causing Ava and Susan to lose control, go off the cliff and die. Rafe asks what went wrong. Nicole then walks in and apologizes for interrupting as EJ greets her. Rafe is surprised and questions what the hell she’s doing here. EJ tells Rafe to use his detective skills and remarks that obviously Nicole spent the night.

Sloan tells Eric that his stamina was impressive but jokes that he has a lot of time to make up for. Eric tells her that casual sex was never in the cards for him since he had standard dreams of kids and a white picket fence but it became obvious to him that was never really in his cards, so he needed to stop fooling himself and getting emotionally involved. Eric wants to make it clear that he’s not really in to getting in to a relationship. Sloan assures that she is the same and that she’s never really believed in happily ever after. Eric is glad they are on the same page. Sloan toasts to no emotional attachment and just pure, wild, passionate sex if he’s up for it. Eric assures that he is and kisses her.

Nicole tells Rafe that it’s not what it looks like and explains that EJ offered her and Holly a place to stay until she finds a place. EJ confirms they are welcome to stay as long as they like. Rafe comments on how generous that is of EJ. Rafe tells EJ to enjoy the consolation prize since both of Nicole’s exes rejected her. Rafe adds that since EJ is determined to stonewall his investigation in to Susan’s death, he will find the information elsewhere. Rafe assures the case is not closed and he will find out the truth as to what happened between EJ and Ava. Rafe says he’ll be in touch and exits the mansion.

Roman asks Steve why he happened to go to Seattle in the first place. Steve calls it a long story to get in to. Jada and Kate come downstairs. Jada greets Steve and says it’s good to see he’s back. Kate asks how Tripp is doing. Steve responds that he’s hanging in there and thanks her. Roman asks how Jada is feeling. Jada says she’s much better and is actually heading to work. Steve asks if she was sick. Jada responds that she took a few days of medical leave, but she’s better now. Steve mentions that he’s heading to the police station as well and offers to give her a ride as he wants to discuss a police matter with her.

Ava hides out in the DiMera Crypt. Her vision of her dead son Charlie appears once again and says he heard today was the big day which Ava confirms. He presumes she has a plan. Ava says it’s simple, direct, and she doesn’t know why she didn’t think of it before. Charlie asks how they are getting their final revenge on EJ DiMera. Ava declares that EJ is going to die.

Eric reminds Sloan that he originally came over to pay his retainer so he still owes her and hopes that’s not the only reason he was welcome here. Sloan invites him to stay another night if he wants. Eric thanks her but says he should get back to the Pub. Sloan points out that he will run in to Jada there. Eric states that he’ll have to face her at some point.

Nicole goes to the Brady Pub and orders a black coffee to go. Nicole asks Kate if Jada is around. Kate responds that she missed her as she just left for work. Kate adds that she doesn’t think Jada wants to see her. Nicole responds that Jada can decide that. Kate remarks that Jada should make her own decisions. Nicole knows Eric blames her for Jada’s choice but argues that she did not force Jada’s hand. Kate questions if Nicole was doing Jada a favor by telling her how horrible her life would be if she had Eric’s baby. Roman points out that he and Kate were both on Nicole’s side and hoping that she and Eric would find their way back to each other. Nicole asks if he’s saying it’s all her fault and that she messed everything up. Nicole thought the baby was her and Eric’s biggest problem but it turns out their biggest problem is that there is no more baby.

Steve goes to the police station with Jada. Jada asks Steve about making a statement. Steve says he wants it on the record and he doesn’t want any secrets from Rafe, so he wants him to hear this too. Rafe then arrives at the station and asks what he wants him to hear. Steve then informs Rafe that EJ kidnapped Tripp and he needs to pay for it.

Ava’s vision of Charlie says he is confused since Ava’s original plan was to kidnap Susan and make EJ pay them back with blood, sweat, tears, and lots of money. Ava points out that EJ kidnapping Tripp changed things. Charlie questions if Ava driving Susan off a cliff and incinerating her wasn’t revenge enough for her. Ava responds that it wasn’t and she’s not going to let EJ live long enough to ever lay another finger on Tripp again.

Johnny goes to the living room of the DiMera Mansion and informs EJ that he took Susan’s cross to the church so it can be on display at the memorial. EJ thanks him and wishes he told him as he would’ve gone with him. Johnny says he didn’t want him to and acknowledges how hard this must be on EJ. Johnny still can’t believe it’s real. Johnny adds that Father Bernard did ask him if they wanted to arrange for some kind of marker in her memory since there are no remains. EJ admits he was thinking about that since he would like a place to visit where he can feel close to her. EJ suggests a plaque in the DiMera Crypt but notes that it’s getting full in there. EJ jokes that last time they added Jake, Stefan came back, so maybe someone else will rise from the dead this time. EJ then suggests they go to the Crypt to find a spot for Susan…

Charlie guesses it’s a good thing that their plan didn’t work out after all. Charlie remarks that he thought they were going to live happily ever after in the underworld but it turns out that Ava is hard to kill. Ava agrees and jokes that she must be on her 8th life now. Charlie points out that Ava had a chance to end EJ’s life while he was passed out on the roadside but she didn’t, so he questions why she didn’t.

Nicole asks how Jada is doing. Kate responds that she’s about as good as she’d imagine. Nicole tells Roman that she knows Kate is not interested in hearing her out, but she never intended for things to turn out this way and she’s sorry that Eric is hurting. Roman responds that Eric is responsible for his own actions, so it’s on him that he assaulted two people and wound up in jail. Roman asks if Nicole has heard from Eric since his release. Nicole confirms she did as he was with his new attorney. They ask her what he said. Nicole reveals that Eric said he never wanted to see her again. Roman questions when that was. Nicole says it was yesterday and asks why. Roman hopes that Eric didn’t get into any more trouble since he didn’t come home last night.

Eric tells Sloan that he knows he has to go back home and he can’t go back to working with Nicole. Sloan talks about how there’s no escape for him. Eric says he just needs time and a reset. Sloan tells him that he’s always welcome here with no strings as they are just friends with great benefits. Eric thanks her and says it’s been a long time since he had a real friend.

Jada questions Tripp being kidnapped and asks if he’s okay. Steve says he’s fine as he and Kayla managed to rescue him and that’s why they went to Seattle. Rafe questions thinking EJ is behind it. Steve says he knows it. Rafe says it makes sense since he knew something had escalated between Ava and EJ. Jada goes over that Ava kidnapped EJ’s mom, so EJ kidnapped her son. Steve explains that when they freed Tripp, EJ lost his leverage against Ava. Rafe says that made EJ desperate and a desperate EJ led to a ruthless Ava. Jada adds that it’s what led to Ava and Susan being killed in the car crash. Rafe says it all makes sense now as that is why EJ was so down at the crash site, since he knew that if he had just given Ava the ransom money then Susan would still be alive. Jada adds that EJ essentially kidnapped Tripp and committed a felony for nothing. Rafe questions Steve saying that he and Kayla rescued Tripp themselves. Steve confirms that they had to work fast and under the radar. Steve says he won’t apologize for doing what he had to do to save his son. Steve adds that Ava asked for his help while conveniently leaving out her part in getting Tripp kidnapped in the first place. Rafe questions why he didn’t get the authorities involved sooner. Steve explains that Ava begged him not to and he agreed to at least until he found that Tripp was safe. Steve adds that he would’ve come to Rafe right after that, but then they found out Ava died, so he didn’t want to leave Tripp. Jada says Steve is telling them now and that’s the important thing. Rafe points out that it’s all hearsay. Steve confirms that Ava told him that EJ kidnapped Tripp but he doesn’t know or have any proof and the henchman wouldn’t name names while now Ava is dead. Rafe bets EJ is feeling pretty good that there’s no proof of his involvement. Steve says that’s why he needs their help in figuring out a way to make EJ pay.

EJ suggests they go to the DiMera Crypt but Johnny stops him and says he doesn’t know if Susan would really want her marker to be in the family crypt. EJ asks why not. EJ knows Susan is technically not a DiMera but she is family. Johnny reminds him that the Devil held her hostage there so he doesn’t know if she’d want her memory to be associated with it for the rest of eternity. EJ decides Johnny may be right since it is gloomy down there and haunted by so many ghosts.

Charlie goes over how Ava and EJ struggled over the gun at the crash site until he fell and hit his head, then Ava was standing over EJ with the gun. Charlie asks why she didn’t kill him and if she lost her nerve. Ava responds that she wanted to give EJ more time to suffer with the guilt of what he did to his mother. Charlie asks if now EJ has suffered enough. Ava declares that he’ll never suffer enough, but she thinks that more people need to pay for the way they treated her and the perfect opportunity has presented itself. Ava declares that today will be their final act.

Jada tells Steve that she’ll do anything to help but points out that Tripp was kidnapped in Seattle which is out of their jurisdiction. Steve knows that limits what they can do. Rafe points out that EJ probably managed everything from here, so if they can prove that then they have jurisdiction. Jada and Rafe decide they are all in. Rafe adds that he’s all for anything he can do to bring down EJ.

EJ pours a drink. Johnny comments that it’s a little early for a drink. EJ says not these days and certainly not today. Johnny asks what happened today. EJ tells him that Rafe came by and tried to implicate him in Susan’s death. Johnny argues that he can’t do that. EJ remarks that Rafe was just angry that Nicole is staying there and tried to take it out on him. EJ brings up if Rafe asks Johnny any questions. Johnny says there’s nothing he could tell him as he only knows that EJ did everything in his power to bring Susan home safely. EJ agrees that he did and adds that Johnny is more than welcome to invite Wendy to the memorial to keep up the cover of them being romantically involved. Johnny thanks him. EJ adds that the entire family is going to be there, so they need to be very careful of what they say to each other so no one hears them talking about what they know. Johnny assures that if Stefan finds out that EJ brainwashed him, it’s not going to be from him.

Eric and Sloan eat together in bed. Sloan praises his cooking. Eric says he’s been cooking for himself for many years while Sloan says she’s been ordering in for many years. Eric suggests they clear the table. Sloan suggests they pick up where they left off. Sloan jokes about handcuffs and Eric getting his priest collar being a fantasy of hers’. Eric says he’s pretty free without the collar. They decide who needs clothing and agree to go shower together.

Nicole questions Roman about Eric not coming home last night. Roman says he even checked with Rafe to make sure he wasn’t back in lockup while Kate adds that they even checked the hospital. Roman is sure Eric is okay but he’s wondering where he could be. Kate asks if Nicole has any idea. Nicole says she doesn’t. Nicole then claims she remembered she had something to do and quickly walks out of the Pub, leaving behind her coffee order. Roman wonders where Nicole went in such a hurry. Kate thinks she was thrown by Eric not coming home. Roman says he’s worried about Eric. Kate responds that Nicole is too but for a completely different reason.

Eric and Sloan get out of the shower together. Sloan then answers the door to see Nicole and questions what she’s doing there as Nicole sees Sloan and Eric in towels.

Rafe tells Jada that he’s glad to see her back at work and asks how she’s feeling. Jada says she’s fine and tired of everyone acting like she’s a fragile little doll. Rafe says people just care about her. Jada just wants to focus on work and put everything with Eric behind her. Rafe says he would love to do the same with Nicole but it seems the universe is conspiring against him. Jada asks what happened now. Rafe informs her that he went to see EJ to question him and didn’t expect to see Nicole there, walking out in a bathrobe which shocks Jada. Rafe says evidently Nicole has moved in with EJ, which he was very happy to inform him of. Jada says she’s so sorry. Rafe says it’s okay as nothing Nicole does surprises him anymore, but he would like to wipe the smug grin off EJ’s face once and for all.

EJ tells Johnny that Harold will serve a luncheon after the service. EJ talks about how the food and music doesn’t matter as he just wants to honor Susan properly and he doesn’t want anyone to forget her. Johnny assures that no one will forget about her.

Ava says it’s a good thing that EJ was drunk that night and his brothers convinced him that he imagined the whole thing, so he still thinks she’s dead and will never see it coming. Ava declares that now she can get revenge on the whole lot of them. Ava declares it will be a memorable memorial as she then unveils a briefcase with a bomb inside and says it’s going to be a blast.

Eric and Sloan have dinner together in her apartment. Sloan thanks him for cooking. Eric apologizes since he came over to settle his attorney fees and ended up talking her ear off about Nicole. Sloan promises she doesn’t mind and says break ups are rough. Sloan comments that it sounds like Eric really loved her. Eric confirms that he did but remarks that she moved on quickly as she’s now shacking up with her other ex-husband..

EJ enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion and questions who left the side doors open as he shuts them. Nicole comes in and tells him about finally getting Holly to sleep. EJ hopes she doesn’t have trouble sleeping in an unfamiliar house. Nicole says Holly has fond memories from when she lived here with Chloe and Stefan, so she thinks it will be an easy transition. Nicole thanks EJ again for doing this. EJ then pours them drinks as they sit together. Nicole asks how his day was but they are interrupted by Sister Mary Moira walking in and questioning what is going on here. She declares that she got there just in time.

Gwen reveals to Leo that it was Xander who kidnapped Bonnie and Susan. Leo is shocked as Gwen reminds him that this has to remain top secret. Leo questions why she’s telling him then. Gwen explains that she had no choice because Bonnie found out that Xander was the culprit, so she needs Leo to help get Bonnie off of Xander’s scent.

Bonnie wakes up tied up in a chair and looks over to see Xander knocked out and tied up as well. Bonnie calls out to him to wake him up. Xander asks where they are and what’s going on. Bonnie says for Xander to tell her because she knows he’s the clown who kidnapped her, so she questions what he’s trying to pull.

Justin calls Rafe and says it’s not like Bonnie to disappear without telling him where she is. Justin thanks him and says he’ll see him soon as he hangs up. Justin then tells Alex that Rafe is on his way. Alex informs Justin that Maggie and Sonny went down to the gardening shed, but he highly doubts Bonnie would return to the crime scene. Alex adds that he called Mimi but she hasn’t heard from her either. Justin remarks that he’s getting a sickening feeling of deja vu.

Xander insists to Bonnie that he’s not the one who kidnapped her and Susan. Bonnie argues that she had him dead to rights and was going to tell Justin when someone knocked her out from behind. Bonnie asks if it was one of his co-conspirators which he denies. Bonnie adds that it can’t be Ava, so she questions who Xander is in cahoots with now.

Leo goes to see Gwen at the Horton house and asks what she needs him to do. Gwen explains that knocking out Bonnie was only a temporary fix so she came up with the brilliant solution of making it look like Xander was kidnapped as well, so they are both currently tied up in a warehouse. Leo calls that truly inspired and asks how he fits in to this. Gwen explains that Bonnie needs to see that Xander and the Clown are two different people, so she needs Leo to wear the clown mask.

Sloan goes over to Eric how in a matter of weeks, Nicole was married to Rafe, got back with Eric, and is now possibly hooking up with EJ. Sloan asks if this is typical of Nicole and says it seems so fickle. Eric explains that when they were married, Nicole was fighting her attraction for Rafe and then had a one night stand with Xander, so he says it’s about par for the course.

EJ tells Sister Mary Moira that he and Nicole were merely sharing a nightcap and he doesn’t think that’s a problem. She argues that they are laying Susan to rest tomorrow while EJ is here with a woman that’s not his wife. EJ points out that she used to be. Nicole offers to go but EJ stops her and introduces Nicole to Sister Mary Moira. Mary responds that she knows exactly who Nicole is and comments on her sleeping in Susan’s bed. EJ argues that they are both his invited guests and warns Sister Mary Moira to apologize to Nicole, so she does, but then she calls her a jezebel who lured Eric out of the priesthood and then cheated on him, causing their sacred union to end in divorce.

Eric finishes his drink and says he should probably head home. Sloan points out that he seems kind of reluctant. Eric admits he’s not looking forward to going home since Jada lives right down the hall from him, so it’s not exactly running in to her without being reminded of what she has done. Eric knows that’s not fair and he should respect her choice. Sloan urges him to stop denying his feelings because he’s entitled to be angry or sad about the abortion, especially if she told him that she was keeping the baby. Eric just wishes Jada told him and knows it’s her choice. Eric then admits he’s not mad at Jada, but at Nicole, and questions why Nicole couldn’t just keep her mouth shut. Eric doesn’t want to take his anger out on Jada and he’s afraid if he goes home tonight, he might do that. Sloan then suggests Eric stay here instead.

Rafe goes to the Kiriakis Mansion. Justin explains to him that Bonnie still hasn’t come home and he found her scarf in the park. Justin says he knows Ava is dead, but her minion in the clown mask is still on the loose. Rafe understands his concern but says Bonnie has only been missing for a couple hours so he can’t declare her a missing person, but he will let his officers know and put out an alert. Rafe then steps outside to make the call. Alex comes back in and informs Justin that Sonny and Maggie didn’t find anything in the shed, so they decided to go take a drive to check some of Bonnie’s favorite spots. Justin calls that a good idea and decides he can’t just sit here and wait, so he’s going to do the same thing.

Xander tells Bonnie that he’s not in cahoots with anyone. Bonnie questions who knocked her out then. Xander says it was the kidnapper. Bonnie calls that impossible since he’s the kidnapper. Xander points out that he’s also tied up. Bonnie suggests he’s working with them or he did it himself. Xander calls that nonsense and claims that Bonnie was about to answer Justin’s call when a muscle bound clown in a blue suit knocked them both out. Xander says he put up a fight but they were too strong. Bonnie acknowledges that Xander does look beat up. Xander says the next thing he knew, he woke up tied to the chair. Xander argues that Bonnie has to believe him.

Leo questions Gwen wanting him to pretend to be the clown who kidnapped Bonnie. Gwen insists he would be brilliant and praises him as an impersonator. Leo points out that he hates clowns after his experience in clown school. Gwen notes that she will pay him. Leo acknowledges that he is financially challenged at the moment, so he wants $300 which Gwen agrees to. Gwen tells Leo to hurry to make his grand entrance. Leo points out that he’s not as muscled as Xander and he’s a few inches shorter, so there’s no way that Bonnie will believe he was the original clown. Gwen tells him not to worry as she’s already thought of that.

Justin goes to see Sarah and asks if she’s heard from Bonnie. Sarah questions her not being home yet. Justin says that Maggie told him about what happened at the Pub, so he thought maybe Sarah would have an idea of where she went but she does not. Sarah says that Bonnie said she needed air and suggests maybe she wanted to be alone for a little while. Justin says he thought so but then he found her scarf in the park and called Rafe to look in to it. Justin adds that he may be overreacting but he remembers what happened last time. Sarah tells him that she’s so sorry. Sarah relates because Xander went for a run a really long time ago and now he’s not answering his phone. Sarah is sure it’s probably just a coincidence. Sarah then says she doesn’t want to be disloyal to her husband. Justin urges her to say whatever it is if it could help them find Bonnie. Sarah then reveals that there was a moment where she thought Xander might have been the clown who kidnapped Bonnie.

Bonnie argues that Xander and the Clown are the same height and build. Xander argues that the shed is pretty dark and Bonnie has admitted to being terrible at describing people. Bonnie brings up Xander saying two phrases that the clown said. Xander calls it just a coincidence. Bonnie questions the clown showing up out of nowhere as soon as she accused him. Xander suggests the clown could have been following her and worried that she could identify him since Ava and Susan are both gone. Bonnie admits he talks a good game but she’s not buying it. Bonnie says her gut is telling her that he is the creepy clown. Leo then comes in wearing the clown mask and asks who she’s calling creepy.

Rafe comes back in to the Kiriakis Mansion where Alex asks if there’s any update on Bonnie. Rafe says he’s afraid not but asks where Justin is. Alex informs him that Justin went to go look for Bonnie while he’s staying there in case he hears anything. Rafe decides to head back to the station and tells Alex to let him know if there’s any news. Alex stops Rafe and says he wanted to apologize because it was his idea to put Eric and Nicole on the cover of Bella and they were resistant to it at first, but he practically forced it on them. Alex adds that he heard about Rafe and Nicole splitting up, so he’s truly sorry if he caused problems for their marriage. Rafe responds that there’s nothing to be sorry for and admits that it’s been painful, but it’s for the best. Alex thanks Rafe for being so cool about it and they shake hands. Alex adds that Eric has been the opposite as he blew up at him for even suggesting that he and Nicole do another cover. Rafe mentions that he did hear Eric and Nicole had a pretty major fight. Alex says that explains it and asks if they are good now. Rafe doesn’t know and says he couldn’t care less.

EJ tells Sister Mary Moira that he’s not kicking Nicole out as she’s a friend and she’s in a bind. Sister Mary Moira calls Nicole a corruptor of souls. EJ points out that he’s not a saint. Nicole tells him it’s okay and he doesn’t have to defend her. Nicole admits that she is a sinful person and she did commit adultery. Nicole adds that she’s been divorced and now she’s getting another divorce because she was lusting after another man. Sister Mary Moira gets upset and comments that the devil is strong in her. Nicole goes along with it and talks about leaving her marriage to get back with Eric, but he ended things because she talked his girlfriend in to getting an abortion. Nicole declares that thanks to her, Eric will no longer be a father in any sense of the word. Sister Mary Moira is shocked and thinks she’s going to faint.

Eric thanks Sloan for the offer but says he can’t impose as they just met this morning. Sloan feels like they’ve known each other a lot longer and says she would welcome the company, especially from a charming guy. Eric doesn’t know charming he’s been since he’s been complaining about his life all day. Eric jokingly asks how she knows he’s not a serial killer. Sloan points out that he’s a Brady and the family’s reputation precedes him. Eric jokes that she obviously hasn’t met Sami or Theresa. Eric reminds Sloan that they also met because he was in jail for assault. Sloan responds that she’s been around her share of dangerous men and she doesn’t feel like her life is in danger in a bad way around him. Sloan tells Eric to do what he wants but the place is his if he wants. Sloan jokes that it’s not exactly the DiMera Mansion but promises he won’t run in to any of his exes here which Eric calls a big plus. Sloan then adds that they would have to share the bed and notes that nothing sexual has to happen, though she certainly wouldn’t mind it.

Bonnie can’t believe it’s true that someone else is the clown and demands to know his name. He says he could tell her but then he’d have to kill her and then says he’s going to kill her anyway. Bonnie screams at him not to touch her. Xander warns that if he touches Bonnie, he’ll have to answer to him. He reminds Xander that he’s tied up and says he’s going to finish what he started with Bonnie and nothing can be done about it. Xander then breaks free and starts fighting with the clown as Bonnie screams.

Gwen waits to hear back from Leo and hopes he can pull this off. Gwen thinks back to dressing Leo up in a body suit and platform shoes to increase his build and height. Gwen repeats that she hopes this works.

Bonnie screams for Xander to be careful. Xander tells her the clown is going down as they struggle on out of the room. Xander then asks if it’s really Leo. Leo lifts the mask and confirms that it is. Xander can’t believe they pulled this off and says it seems like it’s really working. Xander says it’s time for the grand finale and asks if Leo knows what to do. Bonnie screams out asking if Xander is okay. Xander then brings Leo in the clown mask back in to the room and says he messed with the wrong family, so now he’s going to pay for what he did to Bonnie. Bonnie screams for Xander to knock him out. Leo says he’s not too strong for him and fights Xander off, then runs out of the warehouse. Bonnie screams for Xander to go get him and not let him get away, so Xander follows out after him.

Sarah tells Justin about all the little coincidences like the blue suit that made her suspicious, but then she looked up Xander’s company, Rednax, and it’s legit with a website and everything, so she realized he couldn’t have been working for Ava after all. Justin calls that interesting because he offered to represent Xander and sue Rednax for wrongful termination, but he was adamant about not doing it. Sarah suggests maybe he didn’t want to get tangled up in a legal battle. Justin points out that Xander wouldn’t even give him his boss’s name and maybe that’s because he was working for Ava Vitali. Sarah argues that they are jumping to conclusions. Justin calls it just another strange coincidence that both Bonnie and Xander are missing. Sarah regrets saying anything. Justin asks Sarah to come with him and tell her theory to Rafe just to be safe. Sarah says no because she could be wrong and doesn’t want to get Xander in trouble. Justin argues that if she’s right, she could be saving Bonnie’s life. Sarah says even if it was Xander, he would never hurt Bonnie. Justin argues that if Xander is really behind this, then they don’t know what he’s capable of. Justin begs Sarah, so she agrees to go with him and hopes it will prove Xander’s innocence.

Xander returns to the warehouse and tells Bonnie that he’s so sorry but the clown got away from him. Bonnie tells him not to be sorry as he saved her life. Xander says they will get her back home to Justin as he begins untying her. Bonnie apologizes for accusing him of being her kidnapper when he was telling the truth along and she was totally wrong about him. Xander smiles behind her.

Rafe finishes a call and tells Alex that there’s still nothing. Justin comes home with Sarah and asks if there’s any sign of Bonnie. Rafe says no but they are still looking. Justin then informs him that Sarah has some information that might be useful so Rafe asks her what’s up. Sarah calls it a longshot and might be totally off base. Rafe says they are open to anything at this point, so he asks what it is.

Eric gets in bed with Sloan. Sloan jokes about Eric being a lightweight at drinking beer. Eric responds that he hasn’t been a drinker for years now. Sloan says he’s been through a lot lately so she thinks a drink or two was in order. Eric says enough about him and asks what’s going on with her. Sloan thinks he heard most of everything with Paulina and Chanel. Eric knows it must be hard for her to carry around the resentment and anger over her parents’ death. Sloan knows Eric said before that their situations were different, but she thinks they are quite similar since they have both been wronged by people who keep justifying their actions like they aren’t supposed to be upset. Eric knows it’s hard to let go sometimes. Sloan asks why they should need to. Sloan declares they are entitled to be angry.

EJ returns to the living room and tells Nicole that Sister Mary Moira has gone to bed and jokes that Nicole really rattled her. Nicole apologizes for going off on her like that but EJ says she treated her terribly and that grief is no excuse for bad behavior. EJ comments on how Nicole handled it and says it was nice seeing that side of her again. EJ enjoys seeing Nicole fight back and stand up for herself as it reminded him of the Nicole that he first fell in love with. EJ welcomes her back as they take a drink.

Rafe asks Sarah what her theory is. Sarah responds that she and Justin were comparing notes, but then they are interrupted by Bonnie and Xander arriving. Bonnie runs in and hugs Justin. Bonnie cries that the clown kidnapped her again. Alex asks if she’s alright. Bonnie responds that she is now that she’s home. Sarah asks Xander if he had anything to do with this. Bonnie responds that Xander happened to be there when the clown attacked her. Bonnie declares that Xander saved her life.

Gwen questions what is taking Leo so long. Leo then comes in with the clown mask and startles her. Gwen asks how it went. Leo calls it so much more exhilarating than he imagined. Gwen asks if Bonnie bought it. Leo confirms that she did and their plan worked like a charm which makes Gwen happy.

Bonnie tells Justin, Alex, Rafe, and Sarah about how Xander used his superhuman strength to break free and wrestled with the clown. Bonnie says the clown was no match for Xander and compares it to a UFC fight. Alex says they are happy she’s home safe. Bonnie continues to praise Xander for saving her. Rafe then asks where the clown is now. Xander says he managed to get away. Rafe asks if the clown had any distinguishable features to identify him. Bonnie says nothing she can think of. Justin points out that they still don’t know who this is. Rafe says he’ll get the whole squad on it to look out. Xander comments that he thinks it was just one of Ava’s old mob contacts as he seemed like a typical low level henchman. Bonnie points out that whoever it was, was determined to kill her. Bonnie declares that Xander saved her life and calls him a real hero as she hugs him.

EJ tells Nicole that Sister Mary Moira will be going to her own place after the funeral. Nicole says he doesn’t have to kick her out on her account. EJ assures that it’s not just her as he would send her away sooner but she is his mother’s sister. EJ is just so sorry about how she treated Nicole. Nicole calls it not that big of a deal but says it was the last straw after the day she had. EJ is sorry she had a bad day and asks if she cares to share. Nicole responds that it’s just that she and Eric ran in to each other and went at it again. Nicole says she’ll spare him the details, but their relationship is over once and for all. EJ jokes that he’s heard that before. Nicole assures there is no going back for them and declares that she and Eric are done for good.

Eric tells Sloan that allowing himself to be angry is not something he’s used to as he was taking the high road to forgiving. Sloan jokes about his good guy vibe and asks if he was always like this. Eric reminds her about his twin sister Sami always being the troublemaker, so that navigated him in the opposite direction. Eric adds that he went as far as becoming a priest which surprises Sloan. Eric says that didn’t work out and despite his efforts, his life has been in shambles. Sloan asks if he ever thought about not trying to be perfect and giving in to his impulses. Eric points out that he started by helping her finish off the six pack of beer earlier. Eric appreciates her encouragement but he’s not sure it’s in his danger. Sloan suggests he give it a try by just forgetting about everyone else and doing what he wants. Eric then kisses Sloan.

Nicole tells EJ that she should get going, so she’ll see him soon. EJ stops her and says he would say he’s sorry about her and Eric, but he’s not as he never thought they were a good match anyway. EJ argues that instead of appreciating who she is, Eric just stifled her fire and spirit, so she’s better off without him and being herself.

Eric and Sloan continue kissing in bed. Sloan stops and asks if she’s not taking advantage of him in an inebriated state. Eric assures that he’s thinking very clearly and this is what he wants and needs as they continue kissing.

Justin apologizes to Rafe for wasting his time. Rafe says it wasn’t a waste of time at all, especially if leads to them finding the clown. Rafe decides he will head to the warehouse to look for clues, so he’ll be in touch. Alex walks Rafe out. Justin tells Bonnie that he’s so sorry that she had to go through this again. Justin says he’s not letting her out of his sight from now on. Bonnie responds that it won’t be a problem because she doesn’t plan on stepping foot out of the house ever again until the evil clown is caught.

Gwen pays Leo $300. Leo jokes that next time she needs to stage a fake kidnapping, she knows who to call. Leo asks if he can keep the muscle suit. She tells him to go ahead and consider it a bonus. Leo remarks that Gwen really went above and beyond for her ex tonight, so he hopes that Xander appreciates it. Gwen is just glad he’s not behind bars. Leo points out that Xander went from being the #1 suspect to the town hero overnight. Leo adds that Xander really owes her, so he hopes Gwen finds some way to collect.

Xander and Sarah go home and start kissing. Xander asks what that was for. Sarah says it’s like Bonnie said, he was a real hero tonight which makes her feel even more terrible about her unfair accusation. Sarah brings up not knowing where he was and admits that she and Justin thought maybe Xander kidnapped Bonnie and they almost told Rafe. Sarah knows it was stupid and disloyal, so she feels bad and is so sorry. Sarah hopes he can forgive her. Xander says they all make mistakes. Sarah says she loves him so much and hugs him. Sarah suggests a warm bath so Xander can relax after the night that he had.

Sonny and Leo eat together in the town square. Leo says he’s sorry that Chad had to skip out on their dinner, but notes that Chad’s loss is his gain.

Chad and Stephanie eat dinner together. Chad calls it delicious. Stephanie talks about how her neighbor called it the perfect date dish and she wanted to make a really romantic dinner for Alex. Chad tells her that she succeeded but he’s sorry that she wasted her perfect date dish on him.

Justin and Alex question Maggie about Bonnie saying she was going for a walk at this hour when it’s freezing outside. Maggie explains that Bonnie was quite upset and distracted. Justin asks what distracted her. Maggie is sorry to say but there was an incident at the Pub that shook her up. Justin questions what kind of incident. Maggie informs him that Bonnie is still affected by what happened in the gardening shed, so she was seeing the person that kidnapped her and it freaked her out.

Xander questions Bonnie saying it was him. Bonnie tells him not to play innocent and that he knows what he did. Xander claims not to know what she’s talking about. Bonnie says she’ll spell it out for him and declares that Xander is the one who kidnapped her, the muscle bound clown.

Sonny asks Leo about his job search. Leo says he hasn’t found anything yet. Sonny encourages that he hasn’t been looking that long. Sonny adds that Leo will get back on his feet because he’s smart and resilient, so he will figure something out. Leo says it may take awhile. Leo jokes that usually he gets what he wants by making it impossible for people to say no to him. Sonny encourages him to make his own job or to come up with a unique position that only he could fill and make it impossible to say no to. Sonny points out that it’s worked for him in the past. Leo mentions pitching himself to Gwen at the Spectator. Sonny asks how that went. Leo says she didn’t pounce on it but she didn’t laugh in his face, so it depends on her boss, Jack Deveraux.

Jack goes to Sarah’s hotel room. Sarah calls it a surprise and asks if everything is alright. Jack says he was just on his way home from the Spectator and wanted to stop by to talk to Xander, so he asks if Xander is home.

Xander argues that Bonnie isn’t making any sense and calls it absurd as he questions where this is coming from. Bonnie explains that she just heard him say he won’t let this situation destroy his life which is exactly what the clown said, so that’s now how she knows he was the horrible clown. Xander tells Bonnie to keep her voice down, which Bonnie remembers the clown saying as well.

Maggie reveals to Justin and Alex that Bonnie hit Roman with a tray and knocked him down as she thought he was her kidnapper. Justin can’t believe it and asks if Roman is hurt. Maggie says he is thankfully not and he was so kind about it but she feels so bad for Bonnie. Maggie adds that Sarah worries that Bonnie is suffering from PTSD. Justin questions where Bonnie is now and if she’s walking home. Maggie admits she doesn’t know. Alex questions Bonnie not saying where she was going while Justin questions if Maggie just let Bonnie wander off in that state of mind. Maggie explains that Bonnie rushed out so quickly but she wishes now that she chased after her. Maggie apologizes. Justin says it’s okay as she couldn’t have known she would go missing. Justin decides they have to find her.

Bonnie complains about how everything Xander is saying is what the clown was saying. Xander argues that it’s just common things that people say. Xander tells her to focus on the differences and claims it’s not him. Bonnie insists that he was the clown that ruined clowns for her. Xander tells her to keep her voice down. Bonnie questions how he could do that to his family since she and Justin are blood. Bonnie then mentions her daughter Mimi and how the clown knew about her. Xander argues that a lot of people do. Xander says her reasons for him being the clown don’t hold up. Bonnie points out his muscles and having the exact same build as the clown. Xander repeats that he’s not the clown. Bonnie tells him to tell the judge because she’s calling the cops.

Chad finishes his dinner and tells Stephanie that it was great. Chad says he will definitely want seconds but suggests they get to work. Stephanie hates having to do this since Paulina put in so much hard work, so for her to step down before she even starts. Chad suggests maybe she could change her mind. Stephanie notes that Paulina sounded pretty determined on the phone. Stephanie says part of her mind wants to figure a way out of this but she doesn’t have any thoughts yet. Stephanie declares that at the end of the day, it’s Paulina’s decision so they have to respect it and guesses it is the end of the road. Chad points out that it is the end of the road for Paulina and also for them.

Leo tells Sonny that Gwen was going to run the idea of hiring him by Jack, but she didn’t think he would be too excited by the idea. Sonny talks about Jack having very high standards for the Spectator. Sonny advises Leo not to be himself if he talks to Jack since Jack has no humor when it comes to his brand. Sonny admits that he thinks Leo can be funny. Leo talks about trying stand up comedy one time in Chicago but he totally bombed. Sonny encourages him to focus on this gossip column which he doesn’t think would be too low bro for the Spectator. Sonny admits that he has a bit of a weakness when it comes to celebrity news. Leo jokes that he is human. Sonny says it can be interesting and juice but it can’t be mean-spirited as Jack won’t go for that. Leo jokes there goes his column then.

Sarah tells Jack that she’s sorry but he missed Xander as he went out for a run. Sarah can’t imagine he will be gone long in this weather if he wants to wait. Jack says he has an order at the Pub and just wanted to check on Xander and his new job. Sarah then informs Jack that Xander quit because his boss wanted to do something he wasn’t comfortable with…

Xander asks Bonnie not to call the police as she doesn’t have any evidence so they will think she’s crazy. Bonnie suggests they both go to the police station and tell their stories to see who they believe. Bonnie then gets a call from Justin. Bonnie declares that she will answer and tell Justin because he will be very interested to hear what his cousin did. Gwen then appears and knocks out Bonnie from behind.

Justin leaves a message for Bonnie, saying Maggie told him what happened at the Pub and he’s worried about her so he asks her to call him when she gets this.

Xander is surprised to see Gwen, who tells him that he’s welcome.

Stephanie questions Chad saying this is the end for them too when SJ PR has plenty of other clients. Chad points out that he only signed for Paulina’s campaign and planned to stay on until she was sworn in, but now that’s not happening so his work here is done. Stephanie says not by a long shot and that she asked him to work on Paulina’s campaign to see if they work well together and they do. Stephanie decides it’s settled that Chad will stay on as a consultant but Chad reveals that he doesn’t think it’s a great idea because of Alex.

Justin questions Maggie having no idea where Bonnie went. Maggie says that she only said she was going out for air. Justin says she couldn’t have gone far on foot and guesses she’s probably downtown somewhere. Justin decides he’s going to find her. Alex says he will go with him. Maggie wants to go too but Justin asks Maggie to stay in case Bonnie comes home, so he exits with Alex.

Xander notes that Bonnie is out cold but still breathing. Gwen argues that she wouldn’t actually kill her. Xander questions what that was all about. Gwen says she was saving him. Xander asks how she knew what was going on. Gwen explains that she was on her way to deliver his fake employment contract when she overheard Bonnie accusing him of kidnapping her and she was going to tell Justin everything, but now thanks to her, she’s not going to do that. Gwen suggests he show her some appreciation. Xander thanks her but is not so sure that she saved him instead of just delaying things. Gwen argues that Bonnie is in no state to tell anyone anything. Xander worries that when she wakes up, she’ll scream her head off about what he did. Gwen says at least she bought him some time. Xander asks if she has any ideas. Gwen admits she’s been in a similar situation but feels he won’t like her suggestion of shipping her off to DiMera Island. Xander admits he doesn’t like it but he doesn’t have any better ideas. Xander wonders if he should just turn himself in, since when Bonnie wakes up, he will be outed as the clown. Gwen then says not necessarily.

Jack calls it terrible that Xander’s boss would ask him to do something unethical but he’s proud of him for standing his ground, though he’s sorry that he had to lose his job to do it. Jack mentions that he would offer him a job at the Spectator but Sarah assures that Xander understands why he can’t. Sarah explains that Xander told her that Jack didn’t think it was a good idea because of Gwen. Jack says he thought it would be better for everyone to keep distance between them, given Xander and Gwen’s history. Sarah asks if Jack still thinks that’s the case.

Leo talks about his plans for his gossip column. Leo admits he’s done a lot of things he’s not proud of and apologizes to Sonny for that. Sonny reminds Leo that he already apologized to him. Leo recalls being accused of stabbing Sonny. Leo tells Sonny that he means his apology because he feels awful about what he did and Sonny has been so cool and forgiving about what he did. Leo talks about how much he regrets being a jerk and how ashamed he was. Leo wishes there was a way he could make it up to him.

Stephanie asks what Alex has to do with Chad not wanting to work with her. Chad thinks back to talking to Sonny about his feelings for Stephanie. Chad tells Stephanie that he thinks it will be uncomfortable for Alex and points out that he was before when they first started working together. Stephanie says that was awhile ago and she set him straight on that. Stephanie adds that Alex knows she and Chad are just colleagues and friends. Stephanie states that it would be different if something romantic was going on but he made it clear that can’t happen because he’s not over Abigail which she completely respects. Stephanie declares that she and Alex both know that Chad is not ready for a relationship. Stephanie doesn’t think Alex will have a problem with it, so there’s nothing stopping them from working together unless there’s some other reason that Chad doesn’t want to.

Alex walks through the town square and finds Sonny and Leo. Alex asks if they’ve seen Bonnie. Sonny says no and asks if something is wrong. Alex hopes not but notes that Justin has been trying to call her and she’s not answering, so he’s starting to get really worried. Alex mentions Bonnie having a hard time since being kidnapped. Leo questions that but Sonny calls it a long story. Sonny asks if they know who saw Bonnie last. Alex explains that Maggie and Sarah took her to the Pub, but she took off and nobody knows where she is.

Justin goes to the park looking for Bonnie and then finds her scarf on the ground.

Jack tells Sarah that he doesn’t know much about Gwen’s feelings at the moment, but he hopes that she’s way more interested in her work than Xander since she’s really throwing herself in to her writing. Sarah mentions that Gwen offered to write an article about Xander’s company which Jack did not know. Sarah says that’s why she asked about Gwen’s feelings because she wasn’t so sure there was an article or an excuse to get close to Xander. Jack doesn’t think it would be a problem either way but Sarah says it would be for her. Jack insists that no matter how Gwen feels, she knows Xander loves Sarah.

Xander and Gwen go to a room with rope. Xander asks if she really thinks this could work. Gwen calls it their only option. Xander says they need to do it fast before Bonnie wakes up. Xander then stops Gwen and tells her that she needs her to hit him as hard as she can.

Jack asks Sarah if Xander is looking for another job. Sarah says he definitely is, but she hopes what happened at Rednax isn’t too discouraging for him. Jack admires him for standing up for himself and encourages he will find another job soon. Jack tells Sarah to tell Xander he said hello and to send his love to Maggie. Sarah mentions that she will be talking to Maggie soon to ask how Bonnie is doing. Jack comments on what an ordeal that was. Sarah says that Bonnie is still very traumatized by it.

Alex tells Sonny that Justin is out looking for Bonnie since she’s not answering her phone. Sonny asks if there is anything he can do to help. Alex remarks that he wouldn’t want to interrupt his dinner plans. Sonny assures that he isn’t and that he and Leo just happened to run in to each other. Alex then gets a call from Justin, informing him that he hasn’t found Bonnie but thinks he’s getting closer. Justin tells Alex to meet him in the park so Alex and Sonny rush off together. Leo calls out that he hopes they find her and that he hopes he gets his gossip column because he will have a lot to dish about.

Gwen questions Xander wanting her to hit him. Xander says this won’t work unless she does it. Gwen doesn’t think she can. Xander points out that she just knocked Bonnie out cold. Gwen says she didn’t have to look at her while doing it and offers to hit Xander from behind. Xander worries that she might be too good at that and doesn’t want to risk her actually knocking him out. Gwen asks if he could hit himself but Xander feels that won’t be as convincing. Xander asks if she’s worried about him blaming her for damaging his face. Xander says he gives her full permission as he has it coming. Gwen insists that she can’t do it because when she hit someone before, she was really upset and she’s not right now. Xander then reminds her that she chose Sarah over her which then leads to Gwen punching him in the face.

Stephanie asks Chad if there’s another reason that he doesn’t want them to keep working together. Chad says no and that he’s really glad she wants him to stay on because he enjoys their collaboration.

Jack can’t imagine how scary it must have been for Bonnie to have been kidnapped by a masked maniac. Sarah talks about how Bonnie keeps reliving it. Sarah says she and Maggie tried to take her out to the Pub, but Bonnie thought she saw her kidnapper in the Pub. Jack comments that she’s definitely traumatized. Jack then mentions that he’s keeping tabs on the police investigation of that. Sarah asks if there are any leads. Jack says at this point, Ava’s accomplice is still out there but sooner or later, they will catch him and bring him to justice so maybe that will bring Bonnie peace of mind.

Alex and Sonny join Justin in the park. Justin tells them about how Maggie said Bonnie was still very upset and is apparently seeing things like people in clown masks. Sonny wonders if she saw something in the park and ran away.

Gwen calls Leo, who asks if she talked to Jack about his column. Gwen says she hasn’t had the chance, but she may have a job for him if he’s interested.

Stephanie tells Chad that they should get to writing the statement for Paulina. Stephanie says at least they can start out on a positive note. Stephanie toasts to their continued successful relationship at SJ PR.

Leo asks Gwen what the job is. Gwen reminds him that she said she and Xander have a secret and she needs to let Leo in on that.

Justin, Alex, and Sonny return home and inform Maggie that there was no sign of Bonnie. Justin declares that he tried to tell himself not to worry, but he thinks it’s time to call the police.

Sarah remarks that Xander has been on a long run even for him. Sarah tries calling Xander but it goes straight to voicemail.

Bonnie wakes up tied up in a chair and looks over to see Xander knocked out and tied up as well.

Gwen finishes a call at home with a friend in London with information about Chanel’s case and says it will make a nice exclusive for the Spectator. Leo then shows up at her door and says he has a scoop for her, but she’s going to have to hire him first.

Chad joins Sonny in the town square. Chad says they have to celebrate Sonny’s first day back at Titan and announces this is also his last day at SJ PR. Sonny is surprised as he thought things were going great there. Chad says they were but Stephanie only brought him on to help with Paulina’s campaign. Sonny questions if she doesn’t want him to stick around to help with other clients. Chad remarks that Stephanie will be fine without him.

Alex goes to see Stephanie and tells her that she looks incredible. Alex gives her flowers and asks if she’s ready to go. Stephanie says she’s not. Alex points out that the dinner reservations are in 15 minutes and she looks ready for a night out, so he asks if he’s missing something. Stephanie suggests they instead stay in as she brings Alex inside, where she has a candle lit dinner set up.

Sarah, Bonnie, and Maggie sit together at the Brady Pub, Maggie calls it girls night out and is glad they did this. Sarah brings up a drink that Bonnie told her about it and offers to get drinks but Bonnie says she knows what they are doing and it’s not going to work.

Xander searches for a cockroach in his hotel room. Xander then remarks that with everything he’s done, he’s no better than the roach. Justin then shows up which Xander calls an unexpected surprise. Justin informs Xander that he just spoke to Bonnie and says that Xander is in big trouble.

Maggie tells Bonnie that they are just trying to have a good time. Bonnie accuses them of trying to cheer her up and get her to forget about the kidnapping clown. Sarah admits that’s why they took her out. Maggie says Justin told them about what the clown did to her. Sarah adds that Justin thought she could use a distraction and a night of fun. Bonnie is not exactly sure if she can have fun considering what happened to Susan and what could have happened to her. Maggie hopes they catch the clown, lock him up, and throw away the key. Bonnie says if they can’t find him, she can only pray that he’s a million miles away by now.

Xander questions Justin saying he’s in trouble. Justin asks how long Xander thought he could keep the truth from him. Justin tells Xander that he knows what’s going on as Bonnie told him. Xander thinks back to holding Bonnie captive.

Bonnie agrees that she needs a night out and it’s time to put the whole nightmare behind her and the best way to do that is with a strong drink. Bonnie then goes to get the first round of drinks. Maggie asks if Sarah talked to Xander. Sarah confirms that she asked him about his job at Rednax and told him that she thought he might be the clown that kidnapped Bonnie and Susan. Maggie asks what he said. Sarah tells her that he denied it. Maggie questions if she took him at his word. Sarah wishes she had since he swore he didn’t do anything illegal, so she looked up Rednax and found a web site and even a job listing for the spot that Xander vacated. Maggie is relieved that it was legit then. Sarah is sorry that she ever doubted Xander.

Xander questions Justin as to what Bonnie told him. Justin says that Bonnie told him about the debt collector that came to the house. Xander is relieved it’s just that. Justin mentions that Maggie told him about Xander quitting his job over his boss asking him to do something he wasn’t comfortable with. Justin tells Xander that he’s proud of him for doing the right thing. Xander thanks him but says that doesn’t really pay the bills. Justin agrees that behavior doesn’t always get rewarded but in this case, he thinks it could be. Justin suggests they sue Rednax for wrongful termination as Justin is sure they could make them pay and says he’ll just need the name of Xander’s boss.

Gwen questions Leo wanting to work at the Spectator. Leo gives her a folder of articles that he presents as news about Alex and Stephanie, Julie, and Wendy and Johnny. Gwen argues that it’s all gossip and not news. Leo questions the difference. Gwen states that the Spectator is a very respected newspaper so they couldn’t publish this. Leo points out that he would write anonymously as “Lady Whistleblower.” Leo encourages Gwen being able to impress Jack and promises to work his ass off for her. Gwen agrees to run it by Jack and asks if job prospects are that grim for him. Leo admits he did get one offer from Sonny. Gwen questions how that happened and tells him not to leave out any details as she takes him inside.

Sonny questions if Chad is officially done working at SJ PR. Chad says he’s not officially and he doesn’t want to leave since he really enjoyed working PR and it was rewarding. Sonny comments that Chad and Stephanie seemed to get along well. Chad says it was a little too well. Sonny asks if Chad has a thing for Stephanie. Chad admits that he did. Sonny asks if she did as well. Chad says it doesn’t matter since it’s toon soon after Abigail and he doesn’t want to be with anyone, so now Stephanie has moved on with Alex.

Stephanie hopes Alex doesn’t mind staying in. Alex says it’s great and asks about her parents. Stephanie says they are still in Seattle with Tripp, so they have the place for themselves. Alex asks if they should order delivery but Stephanie reveals that she spent all day cooking and says she’s a woman of many talents. Alex tells Stephanie about Sonny being back as CEO at Titan. Stephanie asks how he feels about it. Alex says he’s fine as there are perks to having less responsibility, like more time to spend with her. Stephanie questions if he really doesn’t mind stepping down. Alex says he’d rather be here with her and asks if she doesn’t believe him. Stephanie sensed that he likes to be on top. Alex says he does but he’s flexible.

Sonny questions Chad being totally fine with Alex dating Stephanie. Chad asks why he wouldn’t be. Chad says Stephanie is great and it seems like Alex won her over. Sonny tells Chad that he doesn’t have to lie to him. Chad admits it sucked seeing Alex and Stephanie get cozy. Sonny says that’s because Chad was jealous.

Gwen doesn’t get why Leo turned down Sonny’s job offer. Leo explains that it never would’ve worked out and would’ve been a total disaster which Sonny realized too. Gwen asks how it would’ve been a disaster. Leo says that Will and Victor would’ve given him nonstop grief over hiring him and Victor probably would’ve fired them both. Leo adds that after everything with Craig and Abigail, he’s trying to avoid personal complications in his life right now. Gwen asks what he means. Leo points out that Sonny is married which Gwen jokes is his type. Gwen believes Leo is smitten with Sonny.

Xander questions Justin wanting his boss’s name. Justin thinks they can make a case for wrongful termination since Xander got fired for refusing to do something illegal. Justin says it probably wouldn’t go to court and they could settle. Xander appreciates the offer but says he’d rather forget the whole thing ever happened. Justin asks why, when he could get him a sizable settlement to make all his creditors go away and he could put this nasty business behind him and get on with his life. Xander responds that there’s nothing he wants more.

Bonnie talks about seeing clowns everywhere she goes. Maggie can’t imagine how nerve wracking that is. Bonnie keeps worrying about if the clown comes back for her and isn’t done. Maggie points out that Bonnie wasn’t Ava’s target as she had the clown take Susan to get back at EJ. Sarah adds that Bonnie was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, so according to the police, she is safe. Bonnie thanks them and toasts to being safe and getting buzzed. Bonnie then looks up and imagines the Clown appearing to bring their drinks.

Stephanie and Alex drink wine together. Stephanie tells Alex about cooking short rib pho for their dinner. Alex tells her that he is also a man of many talents as they then start kissing. Alex removes his shirt and asks if she’s sure she’s ready for this. Stephanie asks what he thinks and starts to take him to the bedroom but her phone rings with a call from Paulina from jail. Stephanie tells him that she will make this so quick and answers the call.

Sonny declares that his best friend and his big brother both want the same woman which he calls a conflict of interest. Chad argues that only Alex wants to be with her, so he doesn’t have to pick a side. Sonny says that does simplify things but life is short and love doesn’t always wait until you’re ready. Sonny thinks if Chad likes Stephanie and she likes him, then he should let her know. Sonny adds that Stephanie is a grown woman so she can decide who she wants to be with. Chad looks down at his wedding ring and says he can’t yet. Sonny asks if he’s sure. Chad says he is and he hopes that now that he’ll be around Stephanie less, his feelings will go away. Chad plans to stay busy by finding a new job. Sonny offers to help with that and says job hunting has become a specialty of his. Chad questions if he’s looking for a new job. Sonny clarifies that he meant for other people. Chad asks what other people.

Leo assures Gwen that he and Sonny are just friends or are becoming friends. Leo admits they’ve had their differences but they’ve put all of that behind them for a do over. Gwen remarks that it sounds like her relationship with Xander. Leo brings up that Xander is also married, so that must be her type too. Gwen argues that she loved Xander before he was married and now they have come to an understanding. Leo guesses that is juicy and wants to hear the gossip. Gwen says this stays completely off the record and she’s probably going to regret telling him but it seems Sarah doesn’t know Xander as well as she does. Gwen reveals to Leo that Xander can tell her things that he cannot tell his wife. Leo asks what Xander did this time.

Bonnie starts to panic as she imagines the Clown bringing their drinks. She grabs the tray and begins attacking him with it but it turns out to just be Roman as Sarah and Maggie grab Bonnie to calm her down.

Justin promises Xander won’t have to do any heavy lifting for this lawsuit as he’ll just need the name of his ex-boss and the specifics of what she asked him to do. Xander doesn’t think it will work since it’s complicated and her word against his. Xander adds that he chose to leave instead of being fired. Justin asks if he’s sure he doesn’t want him to at least try. Xander appreciates him trying to help but says he’s sure. Justin apologizes if he’s pushing too hard but says that he and Xander are family and he’d like to think they have become friends which is why he trusts Xander to have his back, so he would like to have his. Xander then tells Justin that there is something he has to tell him…

Chad questions Sonny helping Leo Stark. Sonny asks what the big deal is that they’ve been hanging out a little bit. Sonny adds that Leo feels really bad about all the crap he did and he really thinks Leo is starting to turn over a new leaf. Sonny says Leo is actually pretty funny and decent. Chad finds it incredibly strange that Sonny is so forgiving and actually enjoying Leo’s company. Sonny says they aren’t like best friends or anything. Chad asks how Will feels about him hanging out with Leo or if he told him. Sonny says he did then admits that Leo answered the phone while he was in the other room and it didn’t go great. Sonny adds that he and Will are not in the best place right now. Chad asks what’s going on. Sonny informs him that Will called and said he’s not coming home for Christmas because of a work project and work always comes first. Chad suggests he find Will another job then closer to home. Sonny responds that if he thought it would fix anything, he would. Chad asks Sonny to promise to be careful around Leo because he doesn’t trust him. Chad then gets a call from Stephanie. Stephanie knows he thought they were done but says he can’t get rid of her that easily. Chad starts to explain but Stephanie reveals that Paulina is resigning because she thinks it will save Abe’s job. Chad is shocked and Stephanie says that she’ll explain it all when he gets there, but they need to draft a statement. Chad says he’ll be right there and hangs up. Stephanie tells Alex that she’s sorry and that they can do this again sometime soon. Alex says he can’t wait as they kiss goodbye. Alex wishes her luck and then exits.

Leo asks Gwen what Xander is up to that he can’t tell his wife. Gwen says nevermind and that she shouldn’t have brought it up. Gwen thinks it’s in everyone’s best interest if she keeps this to herself. Gwen adds that she and Xander are now building a friendship like he and Sonny. Leo argues that unlike he and Sonny, Gwen still loves Xander, wants to marry him and have his babies. Gwen admits she might still have feelings for Xander, but promises that she’s not deluding herself with him. Leo advises her to be careful because he doesn’t want to see her get hurt again. Gwen tells him the same. Leo mentions going to an AA meeting so he can get free coffee and donuts. Leo reminds Gwen to talk to Jack about getting him a job. Gwen confirms she will talk to Jack, but she doesn’t know if he will be too excited about the prospect. Leo urges her to do her best pitch which she agrees to do as Leo then exits the house.

Bonnie apologizes to Roman and says she didn’t mean to hurt him. Maggie offers to help clean up the mess but Roman thinks Bonnie needs more attention than his floor. Sarah says they are on it. Bonnie admits she’s not fine as she starts to cry.

Xander tells Justin that all he wanted was to give Sarah a good life and prove he’s worthy of her love but he’s just made such a mess of everything. Justin doesn’t understand. Xander points out that Justin just offered to represent him so he asks if this conversation is covered under attorney-client privilege. Justin says technically no but it will be covered under Kiriakis cousin privilege. Justin asks Xander what is going on. Xander claims he just wanted to let him know that he has no idea how much it means to him that he said they are friends and he feels the same. Justin asks what the mess is and how he can help. Xander says it’s just losing this job and facing down the creditors as he’s really trying to be a good husband to Sarah and the kind of man that she deserves. Justin feels like there is something he’s not telling him. Xander guesses he’s just not used to being vulnerable, especially around other guys. Justin questions if he’s worried about people thinking he’s gone soft. Xander says he does have a reputation to uphold. Justin argues that he has a heart and that’s nothing to hide, but his secret is safe with him. Xander thanks him. Justin decides he should go see if Bonnie needs a ride home, so he’ll see him later. Justin adds that he’s still looking in to this whole Rednax business. Xander tells him that’s really not necessary but Justin insists on helping him whether he likes it or not. Justin adds that he’s going to keep bothering him until he sends him his employment contract, so he better send it to him right away. Justin then exits.

Chad goes to see Stephanie and says he’s reporting for duty. Stephanie thanks him for showing up on short notice and hopes she didn’t pull him away from anything important. Chad says he was just hanging out with Sonny. Chad then comes inside and sees her candle light dinner setup, so he remarks that it looks like she had other plans too.

Alex goes home with beer and a pizza. Justin comes home and joins him.

Xander calls Gwen and says she has to help him. Gwen asks what’s wrong. Xander tells her that Justin was just there and he wants to look in to his employment contract with Rednax because he thinks he should sue for wrongful termination. Gwen asks what she can do to help. Xander points out that she created a fake website, so he hoped she could create an employment contract to match. Gwen supposes it won’t be difficult and she’ll just find an online template to fill in the blanks. Xander thanks her and calls her a lifesaver. Gwen says it’s her pleasure. Xander asks if she will just e-mail it over when it’s ready but Gwen says it’s best not to leave an electronic trail with this sort of thing. Gwen decides she will meet him at the park. Xander feels it’s a bit cold for that but Gwen asks if he wants Justin off the case or not, so Xander decides he’ll bring them hot chocolate and hangs up.

Bonnie tells Sarah and Maggie that she looked at Roman and saw the Clown coming after her. Sarah says it’s clear that she is suffering from PTSD and hallucinations are not uncommon. Sarah asks Bonnie to go speak to someone. Bonnie says she needs another drink. Roman comes back to the table. Bonnie apologizes again and says she doesn’t need them fussing over her. Bonnie then imagines Sarah, Maggie, and Roman all having the Clown mask on. Roman asks if she’s okay or if he made the drinks too strong. Bonnie says apparently not strong enough. Sarah asks if she’s alright. Bonnie decides she just needs some air and rushes out of the Pub.

Sarah goes home to her hotel room and finds a note from Xander, saying he went for a run and will be back soon. Sarah feels it’s a little dark and cold for a run.

Xander arrives in the park with hot chocolates and waits for Gwen, saying he’s counting on her to help him out of another mess.

Gwen creates the fake employment contract and declares that she will do everything she can to make sure Xander’s dirty deeds are their little secret as she leaves the house.

Leo walks through the town square and finds Sonny eating alone which Leo questions when he approaches. Sonny explains that Chad was there but got called away on a work emergency. Sonny tells Leo to help himself to the plate that Chad left behind. Leo asks about Chad’s work emergency and says he couldn’t have been too happy about it. Sonny responds that actually, he thinks he was.

Chad asks Stephanie how they want to go with the statement. Stephanie suggests down to earth, honest, and hopeful. Chad likes portraying Paulina as the underdog. The oven goes off and Stephanie remembers she cooked dinner for her and Alex. Stephanie asks if he’s hungry and suggests they make this a work dinner which Chad says sounds good to him.

Justin asks Alex how things are going with Stephanie. Alex says it’s going pretty well even though their date tonight got interrupted by a work emergency. Justin jokes that he’s his backup plan. Maggie walks in and greets them. Justin asks if girls night out got cut short. Maggie confirms they had some issues. Justin says that’s too bad and asks where Bonnie is.

Bonnie walks to the park and says she’s got to stop seeing clowns everywhere she goes. Bonnie looks ahead and sees Xander in the park. Xander declares that he will not let this situation ruin his life. Bonnie then thinks back to the Clown telling her exactly that. Xander turns around and sees Bonnie, who then realizes that Xander was the Clown.

Li goes to see Stefan at the DiMera Enterprises office. Li asks what this is about. Stefan responds that it’s about Li’s sister, the company jet, and Jakarta. Stefan informs Li that he knows what Wendy has been up to and guesses that Li does too.

Wendy paces outside the Hernandez house and hesitates before knocking on the door. Gabi answer and thanks her for coming while apologizing for pulling her from work. Wendy responds that Gabi made it sound urgent. Gabi says it is as she has something to ask Wendy about her and Li.

Johnny tells Chanel that Ava caused the crash that killed Susan and that Ava is dead too. Chanel asks if it was an accident. Johnny doesn’t know but EJ seems to think that Ava crashed the car on purpose.

EJ answers the door at home and is shocked to see Susan’s sister, his aunt, Sister Mary Moira.

Nicole questions Eric hiring Sloan as his lawyer. Nicole says she recognizes the name and tells Sloan that Rafe is her soon-to-be ex husband so she’s heard quite a bit about her. Sloan jokes that she assumes it’s all good. Sloan says she can’t say the same since Eric hasn’t told her much about Nicole, but notes that from what she gathers, Nicole is the reason why Eric’s ex-girlfriend aborted their baby. Nicole says that’s not true and questions Eric. Nicole argues that Jada is the one who took Eric’s baby from him, not her. Nicole talks about being surprised that Eric hired Sloan. Eric questions Nicole casting aspersions when she is in bed with EJ.

EJ tells Sister Mary Moira that he didn’t know she was coming and calls it quite a shock. She asks if he’s going to invite her in and tell her what happened to her sister or not.

Johnny tells Chanel that EJ went after Ava for lying about her marriage to Jake and he guesses she just lost it. Chanel feels so terrible for Johnny and for Tripp to lose his mom. Chanel tells Johnny that she’s so sorry that he lost his grandmother. Chanel hugs Johnny as Allie comes home and sees them.

Li tells Stefan that he’s not sure what he’s getting at about Wendy. Stefan tells Li that a couple of weeks ago, he was going to take Chloe on a romantic getaway to Miami but when he called to book the company jet that is reserved for executives of the company was unavailable and supposedly out for servicing. Li calls that unfortunate. Stefan says he was talking to one of their managers today, who mentioned that the plane shouldn’t be due for servicing for another couple of months, so he did some digging and it turns out the jets logs were hacked. Stefan brings up Wendy being very good with computers and the jet’s logs reflected that it was out for servicing when it had be commandeered to Jakarta by Wendy and everyone at DiMera was none the wiser, except Li.

Wendy comments that Gabi seems so serious. Gabi says something distracted her earlier but that’s nothing to worry about. Gabi says she’s just excited about something and hopes Wendy will be too. Gabi then asks Wendy to be her Maid of Honor. Wendy feels they haven’t really known each other long and figured Gabi would have a list of friends fighting for that spot. Gabi informs her that she doesn’t have that many girl friends. Wendy is not sure why she would pivot to her.

Stefan reminds Li that he was here when Wendy didn’t show up for work and Li seemed confused as to why and suggested Wendy was working remotely and then went to check up on her. Li says he does remember that. Stefan wonders what he found when he checked up on her since when he checked the plane’s logs, the plane was already heading to Indonesia. Stefan adds that every expense for that flight, the fuel, meals, and entertainment but was all signed off for by Li which tells him that he knew Wendy left town and why she left. Li stops him and admits that he did know about his sister’s flight to Jakarta but not until after the fact and he knows why she went and who went with her.

Chanel tells Allie that Johnny just told her the awful news about his grandmother. Allie says she heard all about it from Tripp and tells Johnny that she’s so sorry. Allie adds that she wanted to tell him in person but there’s been so much going on. Chanel asks how long she has known. Allie says she talked to Tripp on Thanksgiving. Chanel questions her not saying anything since then. Allie says she was going through so much and didn’t want to pile on. Allie apologizes for not telling her and promises not to keep her out of the loop again. Johnny tells Chanel not to blame Allie. Chanel agrees with them and says it’s just been so overwhelming and seems like it never ends. Allie asks what she means. Chanel responds that what’s going on with Abe is bad.

EJ brings Sister Mary Moira in to the living room as she questions his manners. EJ tells her that she’s very welcome here but he’s still surprised to see her. Sister Mary Moira responds that she was surprised to hear about the passing of her sister in a kidnapping gone wrong. She questions where EJ was in Susan’s time of need and asks if he was chasing girls or money.

Nicole tells Eric that EJ is the reason that he is walking free, no matter what Sloan has led him to believe. Nicole adds that she was with EJ when he called Melinda to drop the charges. Sloan says it seems like they have a lot to work out so she’s going to go. Eric tells her not to and that Nicole is leaving. Sloan says she has business to conduct anyway and gives Eric her business card, noting they can settle her fee anytime he’s available. Sloan adds that her home address is on the back of the card as she walks away. Nicole tells Eric that she’s not seeing EJ and she had no place to go, so he offered she and Holly a place to land. Eric questions her accepting without any hesitation.

Gabi doesn’t want to get ahead of herself but tells Wendy that this could be a real opportunity for them to have a real relationship and turn it in to something very special. Gabi informs Wendy that she had a sister named Arianna, who is gone now but she named her daughter after her to honor her. Gabi states that nothing can replace the bond that sisters can have but soon they are going to be sisters in law. Gabi hopes in time they can make it feel like they are real sisters and says that would be amazing. Gabi says she’s had a great feeling about Wendy and felt like she could trust her since she met her. Gabi asks Wendy to say yes. Wendy then tells Gabi that there is something she needs to hear.

Li claims to Stefan that it was actually Johnny who commandeered the jet and that Johnny and Wendy seemed to have hit it off. Li assumes Johnny took Wendy on a romantic getaway to impress her. Li admits that he did sign off on the expenses but after the fact and asks what else he was supposed to do since Johnny is the boss’s son.

Allie argues that Abe doesn’t have to kneel to the city council. Johnny encourages that Abe is a fighter. Allie adds that Abe will get through this. Chanel hopes they are right. Allie says the city council may be trying to avert a scandal but the only true villain here is Sloan Peterson.

Nicole questions what Eric’s problem is since EJ’s mother just died but he still took the time to call and drop the charges for him, yet he makes underhanded comments like a wounded schoolboy. Nicole says the worst part is that Eric and Sloan confront her and accuse her of killing his baby. Nicole argues that they talked about this and even Eric agreed that it was Jada’s choice about her own body. Nicole is devastated to see him behaving like this after everything they have been through. Nicole remarks that it’s like he’s not the special man she thought he was. Nicole knows EJ has an ugly history but says compared to Eric the last few days, EJ is a saint. Eric tells her that she’s right and he’ll keep his opinions on EJ to himself. Eric agrees that he’s not a saint but points out that she’s not either. Eric says they agree that it was Jada’s choice but brings up the private chat Nicole had with her about how hard it is to be a single mother raising a child on her own. Nicole complains about all of his insults and accusations just because she took EJ up on a place to stay when she had nowhere to go. Nicole argues that Jada’s abortion was her own choice but Eric is blaming her for things she hasn’t done and she’s sick of it. Eric is sorry he’s impossible to deal with. Eric then declares that her opinion doesn’t matter anymore. Nicole says he makes it sound like they are breaking up. Eric remarks that they would have to be together to break up and lucky for her, they never made that mistake.

EJ tells Sister Mary Moira that he wasn’t chasing money or women in his mother’s hour of need. EJ assures he did everything he could to bring Susan home safely but he was dealing with a lunatic. EJ says that Ava grabbed Susan and backed out of her own deal. Sister Mary Moira complains that all she’s hearing is excuses. EJ shouts that his mother is dead. EJ says he’s not trying to justify his failings but to give her the whole picture and ask for forgiveness even when he truly doesn’t deserve it.

Johnny doesn’t know much about Sloan, but he knows Chad is not a fan. Allie says no one is and that all he needs to know is she’s trying to ruin Chanel and Paulina’s lives. Chanel complains that once again her mother gets dragged through the mud for something she did. Johnny tells Chanel not to blame herself and encourages that she will get through this, hopefully very soon. Chanel knows Johnny is going through a lot too and tells him that they are here for him. Johnny thanks her and says he better get going since he did come looking for Wendy, so he’s going to try to see her at work. Chanel asks what he needed to see Wendy about since he didn’t say. Johnny claims it’s nothing important and he just wanted to see how it’s going at DiMera as he then exits the apartment.

Li tells Stefan that he’s sorry if he wasted his time looking in to this missing jet mystery. Li says he felt like he had to play dumb as he was just trying to protect his sister. Stefan assumes it all makes sense now since the pieces fit together. Li points out that the jet is back, so Stefan can take Chloe off to Miami now if he’d like. Stefan says he plans to but on a different timeline as they are thinking New Year’s. Li points out that’s the day he’s marrying Gabi. Stefan guesses that Gabi has told Li that she invited he and Chloe which Li claims that she did. Stefan adds that they’ve decided it’s not for them so they won’t be attending. Stefan asks Li if he’d really want his bride’s ex-husband and his new lady in attendance. Li assures him that he wouldn’t feel threatened since Stefan has made it clear he has no lingering feelings for Gabi and that Gabi has made it clear since he’s returned and treated her with rudeness and insulting behavior but he gets it. Li tells Stefan to have a wonderful time in Miami as he then exits the office.

Gabi asks Wendy what’s wrong and says whatever it is, she can tell her and they can fix it. Wendy thinks back to agreeing with Johnny that they have to keep Li and EJ’s secret from Gabi and Stefan even though they weren’t okay with it. Wendy tells Gabi that she just knows being maid of honor means putting everything aside to make the day perfect for the bride, so she’s worried about being up for the job. Wendy adds that she’s on thin ice at DiMera and has a ton of work to catch up on, so she wouldn’t want to let Gabi down. Gabi questions that being it and argues that she couldn’t possibly let her down ever unless she refuses to be her maid of honor. Gabi pleads with her to say yes so Wendy decides she’d love to. Gabi thanks her and hugs her.

Sister Mary Moira reminds EJ that God is in charge of forgiveness, not her. EJ explains that he wasn’t asking her for God’s forgiveness, but for her’s. She says right now she’s more concerned about the soul of her sister and asks when the funeral is. EJ responds that nothing has been arranged yet which she questions. She remarks that she’d hate for him to uproot his own schedule for something as important as the funeral of his mother. She says shame on him for failing his own mother in life and in death.

Nicole asks Eric if this is how they are doing this, bitter and spiteful. Eric feels it’s for the best or else they would make the same mistake as he holds back tears. They both go to walk away but stop and look back at one another. Nicole asks if this is really happening. Eric declares that he can’t find another way through. Nicole says maybe their mistake was trying to recapture what they once had while forgetting all the things that made them wrong for each other. Eric brings up that day in the office when they felt they had a chance and they kissed. Nicole recalls his phone rang and they learned that Jada was in the hospital.

Johnny finds Wendy at DiMera Enterprises. Wendy questions what he’s doing here. Johnny tells her it’s okay as they don’t have to keep their friendship a secret anymore since it’s their cover now, so it’s probably better for people to see them together and let them think what they think. Wendy jokes that first they are a secret and now they are drumming up wild gossip. Johnny tells her that he went looking for her to check on her as he spoke to EJ, who asked if he had any second thoughts about keeping their secret about Stefan. Johnny says he told EJ that they were both on board, but he wanted to make sure with her. Wendy responds that she was, but then Gabi called.

Gabi stands at home, holding Stefan’s RSVP that he and Chloe are not coming to the wedding. Li comes in and startles her, commenting that she was distracted by whatever she was holding. Li picks up the RSVP which Gabi says came in the mail today and that they aren’t coming. Li responds that he knows since he just spoke with Stefan, but he didn’t know that Gabi had invited him in the first place. Gabi apologizes for not telling him as she assumed he would want a number of high level DiMera executives there. Li questions if that was the only reason for the invitation or if part of her wanted to show Stefan that she’s really moving on. Gabi claims that she just wants Stefan and everyone else to know how happy she is to be marrying Li. Li responds that he’s the lucky one as they kiss. Gabi then informs Li that she asked Wendy to be her maid of honor as she came over during her lunch break. Gabi says that Wendy says yes but it took some persuading as she seemed weirdly uneasy about it.

Wendy tells Johnny that Gabi was laying it on thick about how they could be like real sisters and seemed genuinely excited about it. Wendy says the whole time, she was trying to smile but felt dead inside. Johnny is sure Gabi didn’t even notice. Johnny encourages that if Wendy can go face to face with Dr. Rolf, then she can handle anybody. Wendy talks about how she got so uncomfortable and nervous that she almost blurted out what they did. Stefan then comes out from the office and suggests they talk about what they did.

Sister Mary Moira stares at the portrait of Stefano on the wall while EJ begins planning something to honor Susan. EJ asks Sister Mary Moira to stay at the mansion while they figure it out and decides to go talk to Harold about setting up a room for her. She then looks back at the portrait of Stefano and tells him to stop staring and that there must be a room with a cross in it somewhere.

Nicole and Eric say that the call about Jada was either the worst timing possible or the best because if they actually got started, it would’ve made it harder when things blew up which they agree was inevitable. Eric guesses he will see her around. Nicole says goodbye to Eric as she starts to cry. Eric then walks away as Nicole breaks down crying.

Li tells Gabi that he can’t imagine why Wendy would be uneasy about being her maid of honor. Gabi explains that she was concerned about the responsibility but she assured that she couldn’t disappoint her. Gabi still feels there is something Wendy wasn’t telling her. Li encourages that they just don’t know each other that well yet and suggests Gabi just put that out of her head. Li bets Gabi and Wendy will end up being really good friends as he hugs her.

Stefan comments on Johnny and Wendy’s romantic getaway to Jakarta and says he figured it was Wendy to hack in to the logs of the jet. Stefan questions choosing Jakarta as their getaway destination, but he hopes they had fun because it will be the last trip they take for a long time on the company’s dime. Stefan warns that nothing gets by him as he walks away. Johnny asks Wendy if it’s just him or is this getting harder by the minute.

Chanel calls Abe but it goes to voicemail. She leaves a message, apologizing for running out before but she was too emotional. Chanel tells Abe to call her back when he can because she wants to know what’s going on with him and the city council. Allie asks if Chanel is okay. Chanel doesn’t know how they are going to do it, but they need to find a way to keep Sloan Peterson from ruining all of their lives.

Eric goes to Sloan’s apartment and says he’s here to discuss his bill. Sloan didn’t expect to see him here so fast since he and Nicole seemed really in the thick of it. Eric responds that they realized that they had nothing else to say. Eric then enters Sloan’s apartment.

Nicole sits in the town square crying. She thinks back to her and Eric first getting back together.

EJ finds Sister Mary Moira praying in what was Susan’s bedroom. She explains that the maid pointed her to what was Susan’s room but questions the perfume in the room. EJ explains that it was Susan’s room, but he’s been letting a friend use it temporarily. She remarks that she knew EJ was chasing girls but she prays to God that he’s not fornicating in his mother’s room. EJ says his friend happens to be a woman but she’s just a friend. She says that’s what they all say and she prays that it’s true in his case because his soul is in enough jeopardy as it is.

Ava sneaks in to the DiMera Mansion and approaches EJ’s desk where he left the plans he was writing for Susan’s memorial. Ava calls it a tasteful affair for a tacky lady. Ava then declares that Susan Banks won’t be the only one laid to rest that day…

Nicole tells EJ that his hangover smoothie is disgusting. EJ thought she was getting used to it but reminds her that she said she was feeling better which proves that it does work. Nicole acknowledges that EJ was really kind to her last night. EJ states that she needed a friend and admits he did too. Nicole is glad she could be there for him. EJ hugs her as Johnny then walks in and questions what is going on here.

Rafe goes to the Brady Pub and finds Jada at a table. Rafe says he heard she called in sick for the second day in a row, so he wanted to make sure she’s okay. Jada responds that the doctor said she could go back to work tomorrow as she confirms to Rafe that she got the abortion.

Eric questions Sloan wanting to be his lawyer. Sloan points out that he just said Belle won’t represent him. Eric responds that he has other options. Sloan says that none are better than her and suggests he hire her to find out.

Abe joins Chanel and Paulina in the interrogation room. Paulina tells Abe that she’s missing their bed but she is hanging in there. Abe asks about Chanel getting to be back at home. Chanel responds that she’s very grateful that Belle got her out on bail, but she will not be okay until Paulina is free. Chanel argues that Paulina never should’ve been arrested in the first place so they need to let her go. Paulina hopes that Abe has some good news on that front but Abe says he’s afraid not.

Belle goes to the police station and greets Shawn. Shawn tells her that Paulina, Chanel, and Abe are in the interrogation room if she needs Paulina. Belle says it will do Paulina good to spend some time with her family and will also give them a chance to talk about Eric. They talk about how they were not expecting to walk in on Eric drunk and assaulting people when they went out for a drink. Belle hated Eric’s behavior and how out of control he was. Belle says her heart is breaking for Eric as she can see how much pain he’s in. Shawn guesses she is having second thoughts about not taking his case. Belle admits she can’t get the image out of her head of Eric sitting in his cell all alone with no one in his corner…

Sloan asks Eric what he says. Eric doesn’t know if it would be such a good idea. Sloan asks if it’s because of her reputation. Eric says he tries not to judge people. Sloan gets that it’s hard when everyone is calling her an ambulance chaser but says those haters fail to mention that she tends to catch what she chases.

Rafe asks if Jada wants anything to eat but she says she’s not hungry. Rafe asks if she’s sure she is feeling okay since he couldn’t help but notice she was taking a pill. Jada says it was just for pain which is basically gone but she feels terrible about missing work. Rafe says it’s important to him that she takes care of herself. Jada assures that she’s ready to come back to work because hanging around here is the last thing she wants to do. Jada tells Rafe that if he wants to ask her something, he can as she doesn’t mind talking to him about this. Rafe brings up how on Thanksgiving, she told him that she decided not to keep the baby and he knows that Eric hoped otherwise. Jada says in the end, she had to what was best for her. Rafe says that’s her right and assumes that Eric understands that. Jada says he did but he was still unhappy that she ended the pregnancy without telling him. Rafe asks if Eric was angry. Jada says that Eric was confused and really upset. Rafe remarks that his new girlfriend must be really relieved. Jada assumes so since Nicole made it pretty clear that she did not want her to have the baby.

Johnny questions walking in on EJ and Nicole hugging on his dead grandmother’s bed. Nicole tells him that it’s not what it looks like. Johnny argues that it looks like they just got it on. EJ tells him that he doesn’t understand. Johnny complains that he gets that EJ is grieving, but shouts that it doesn’t give him the right to have sex with Rafe’s wife.

Eric tells Sloan that he does need a lawyer, but points out that Abe is like an uncle to him and Chanel is dating his niece. Sloan argues that Allie should get as far away from possible from Chanel since she killed her mother. Eric brings up Paulina saying it was an accident which Sloan calls a lie. Sloan explains that her father was Chanel’s college professor and that Chanel seduced him. Sloan claims that in a jealous rage, Chanel pushed her mother off a roof and claimed it was suicide. Eric feels that doesn’t sound like Chanel since she’s a good kid. Sloan argues that she’s just hiding her homicidal tendencies. Eric questions why Chanel wasn’t arrested years ago then. Sloan tells him that Paulina covered it up, buried the evidence, and gave the school a generous donation to make it all go away. Sloan adds that her father kept it from her for all those years until he told her the truth on his deathbed. Sloan asks Eric if he believes her. Eric says it’s just a lot to take in. Sloan talks about how her dad couldn’t bear the pain, so he started drinking and eventually drank himself to death but she loved her parents so much and now they are both gone. Sloan asks if Eric knows what it feels like to have what means most to him in the world taken away. Eric responds that he does.

Johnny argues that he knows EJ hates Rafe but he’s a good guy and doesn’t deserve this. Nicole agrees that Rafe is a good guy and says that’s why she would never cheat on him with EJ. Johnny questions what Nicole is doing here if she’s not hooking up with EJ. Nicole responds that it’s simple as she had no place to go.

Paulina questions Abe if there’s no place else to go with this. Abe confirms that he called every one of his oversees contacts but no one can make the charges disappear. Abe adds that he even called one of Shane Donovan’s contacts at the American Embassy in London but she was no help. Paulina argues that what Chanel did was an accident. Abe then gets a call from Cass, the City Council President.

Sloan asks if Eric understands the kind of pain she’s in and if he lost his parents tragically too. Eric says no as his parents are still alive and very much apart of his life. Sloan questions how he can empathize with her then. Eric then informs her that he recently learned he was going to be a father in a complicated situation where he broke up with his ex and she decided she was going to have the baby at first and they agreed to co-parent, so he was really happy, but then she decided to have an abortion and ended her pregnancy before he even knew it was done. Sloan guesses that was very painful. Eric confirms that it was and what added to it was that the woman he loves went behind his back and told his ex to end her pregnancy. Sloan tells Eric that she’s sorry. Sloan guesses something stemming from that situation is what landed him in jail which Eric confirms. Sloan says it sounds like they both got screwed and she’s not the type of person to just roll over and take it. Sloan states that if someone pushes her, she pushes back. Sloan declares that she’s a fighter and she’s willing to fight for him if he lets her.

Rafe questions what exactly Nicole said to Jada. Jada tells him that Nicole asked her why she would want to be tied to a man forever who didn’t love her and reminded her of how incredibly difficult that would be, which shocks Rafe. Jada adds that Nicole then ran down a list of reasons why being a single mom would suck and that she would fail trying to be both a single mom and a cop even with Eric’s support. Rafe cannot believe Nicole did that. Jada says that Nicole was not going to let anything stand in the way of her and Eric, not her, her own marriage, and definitely not her pregnancy.

Johnny questions Nicole and Rafe getting a divorce but EJ tells him that’s none of his concern. Johnny agrees and apologizes for prying and jumping to conclusions about what he walked in on. Nicole says it’s okay and explains that EJ was nice enough to offer her and Holly a place to stay after she blew up her life yet again and that’s all this was. Nicole decides to go shower before heading to the office. EJ questions Johnny not knocking. Johnny says he would have but just didn’t think he needed to. Johnny explains that he wanted to feel close to Susan since they spent a lot of time in this room so he thought maybe he would feel her spirit. EJ offers to move Nicole to a different room but Johnny says that Susan was all about being generous, so she would like that someone he cares about is staying here. Johnny apologizes for going off on him earlier. EJ supposes he can’t blame him for thinking the worst of him after what he learned in Jakarta. EJ asks if Johnny is going to keep quiet about that or if he’s having second thoughts.

Belle tells Shawn that there is so much bad blood between her and Sami, so she doesn’t want to be estranged from Eric too. Shawn says it sounds like she’s made up her mind. Belle says she has but it still concerns Shawn if he doesn’t want her to. Shawn assures that he would never stand in the way of her representing her brother. Belle calls him the best husband ever and kisses him. Shawn says he will go tell Eric that she has decided to take his case but Eric is then brought up by a guard and he informs them that it won’t be necessary. Eric tells Belle that she doesn’t have to defend him because he got someone else. Belle questions who. Sloan then walks in and reveals it’s her.

Abe finishes his call with the City Council President and says he will get back to him with an answer as soon as possible. Paulina and Chanel ask what that was about. Abe reveals that the City Council are asking him to resign as mayor, effective immediately as soon as possible. Paulina questions why they are doing this. Abe says the optics are not good with the Mayor being married to the Governor-elect who has allegedly covered up a murder. Paulina argues that it’s not the truth. Chanel stands up and starts blaming herself for Abe being asked to resign and for Paulina being unable to enjoy her big win. Chanel declares that she’s sorry but she has to go and storms out despite Paulina trying to stop her.

Belle understands Eric is angry with her but tells him not to hire Sloan out of spite and to find anyone else. Belle suggests calling Justin. Sloan jokes that she was in preschool the last time Justin won a case. Belle tells her to shut up. Eric warns her not to talk to his lawyer that way. Belle argues that Eric wouldn’t be defending her if he knew how she operates. Belle asks if he knows what she’s doing to Paulina and Chanel. Sloan asks what about what they did to her. Sloan complains about Chanel murdering her mother and Paulina covering it up. Shawn urges Eric to think about what this would mean to Abe. Eric responds that as far as he knows, Abe is always up for justice. Belle argues that Sloan is only out for revenge and to inflict pain on Abe’s family. Eric declares that from what he understands, Sloan exposed a crime and cover-up, so if anyone is the victim, it’s her.

Rafe questions where the hell Nicole gets off after everything that went down, to lecture Jada about something so personal and private. Jada assures him that the abortion was 100% her decision and if she was ready to be a mother, no one would change her mind about that, especially Nicole. Rafe still feels that Nicole had no right to pressure her. Rafe says he forgot how incredibly selfish Nicole can be when she’s trying to get something she wants. Rafe then remarks that what she wants and has always wanted, is Eric. Rafe guesses now there’s one less obstacle in her way. Jada says she wouldn’t be so sure about that which Rafe questions. Jada tells Rafe that Eric was not too happy that Nicole interfered.

Johnny tells EJ that he will keep his mouth shut. EJ asks about Wendy. Johnny assures she won’t say anything either so EJ has nothing to worry about. EJ thanks him but Johnny says not to thank him because he feels horrible about keeping the secret as he feels Stefan has a right to know. Johnny argues that Dr. Rolf erasing Stefan’s feelings for Gabi is messed up. EJ reminds him that he did not become aware of the brainwashing until after the fact. Johnny remarks that it didn’t stop him from taking advantage of it and using it to take the company back. EJ won’t apologize for doing what’s necessary for his father’s company and his son’s legacy. EJ says this was about family. Johnny adds that family is the only reason that he and Wendy are keeping their mouth shut because Wendy doesn’t want to destroy her brother’s life and he doesn’t want to destroy EJ’s either. Johnny acknowledges that EJ is suffering enough after losing Susan as they all are. Johnny then exits the room.

Abe tries calling Chanel but she doesn’t answer. Abe offers to go find her but Paulina suggests giving her space to calm down. Paulina feels Abe must be asking himself if marrying her was such a good idea. Abe assures that he would never regret marrying her. Paulina asks even if it cost him his career. Abe reminds her that he already planned on stepping down as mayor to move with her to the Capitol. Paulina points out that was before Sloan dropped this bomb on them. Abe says she won’t derail their plans. Paulina complains that they are at the center of an international scandal, so even if she took office, Sloan has ruined her chances of being a successful Governor. Abe says they don’t know that. Paulina declares that there’s no reason for Abe to bow out when she will probably never even be sworn in.

Chanel goes home to her and Allie’s apartment. Johnny shows up asking if Wendy is home. Chanel responds that Wendy is probably at work, Allie is at the Bakery, and she is all alone. Johnny asks what’s going on and if she’s okay. Chanel cries that she’s not and hugs him.

Nicole enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion, where EJ is finishing a call with Melinda, saying that he no longer wishes to press charges against Eric. Nicole thanks him for doing that as she knows how hard it is to resist the urge to stick it to Eric. EJ says he promised her that he would drop the charges and he is a man of his word. Nicole decides she will get going. EJ says he looks forward to seeing her tonight for dinner with a special dessert for Holly. EJ adds that he will have Holly’s room set up right next to Nicole’s. Nicole stops him and says she’s not sure moving in is a good idea.

Belle knows Eric is going through a hard time after spending the night in jail which is where sharks like Sloan search for vulnerable people. Belle is sure Sloan gave Eric her pitch as the best but tells him not to fall for that. Eric asks why she’s making such a big deal of it and points out that he accepted Sloan’s offer because his own sister refused him. Shawn tells Eric that Belle changed her mind and wants to take his case. Eric calls it a little too late. Sloan declares that it’s settled then and says she will take Eric to see about getting the charges dropped. Shawn then gets a call from Melinda. Shawn hangs up and informs them that EJ declined to press charges against Eric. Sloan declares that means there is no case unless Shawn wants to be responsible for prosecuting his brother in law. Shawn responds that it’s not that simple because Melinda is going after Eric for assaulting a police officer, whether he wants her to or not.

EJ thought Nicole wanted to move in. Nicole responds that she did, but now Johnny is accusing them of having an affair which EJ laughs off. Nicole asks if that doesn’t bother him. EJ calls it a misunderstanding. Nicole asks how long it will be before the rest of his family and the entire town start gossiping about them. Nicole says her life is a hot mess right now and she doesn’t want to deal with this. EJ questions since when Nicole gives a rat’s ass about what anyone in Salem thinks. Nicole says she has a young daughter now and she doesn’t want to expose Holly to her getting dirty looks in town. EJ argues that she wouldn’t be doing anything wrong by living here and would be choosing the best possible situation for her family. EJ declares that it’s settled that Nicole and Holly are going to move in and stay for as long as they want and anyone who has an opinion on that can shove it.

Rafe is glad that Jada decided to eat. Jada thanks him for looking out for her. Rafe assures that he will always have her back, on and off the job. Jada appreciates that and says she hopes she didn’t come off petty earlier because no matter how she feels about Nicole, she’s still Rafe’s wife. Rafe says not for much longer. Jada still feels she shouldn’t have gone there. Rafe asks why not and says she has every right to be upset since Nicole basically ruined Jada’s relationship with Eric from day one. Jada then brings up all the times Nicole would drop by and when she offered Eric a job and then the comforting hugs. Rafe jokes about how many times he had to walk in on those. Rafe and Jada mock Eric and Nicole saying they were just friends. Jada declares that she’s never met someone so passive aggressive and selfish. Jada stops and says she’s doing it again. Rafe encourages her to let it all out. Jada admits she loves ripping Nicole but it won’t do any good. Rafe points out that it will feel good. Jada decides if she wants to get past this, she has to rise above. Rafe asks what she means. Jada explains that she had to ask herself what she really wanted and she decided it wasn’t being a single mother under these circumstances. Jada calls it the hardest decision she’s ever made, but she made it and needs to honor her decision by focusing her energy on what she wants so she needs to put any trash talking or negativity aside and be the bigger person like her dad taught her. Rafe calls her dad a wise man. Jada declares that Nicole can have Eric since she obviously wasn’t up to the task. Rafe encourages her not to sell herself short since the fix was in. Jada wishes she knew. Rafe says he did know but he chose to ignore it and looked right past the fact that when you get involved with Nicole or Eric, you choose to end up like all the rest before, just a speedbump on their never ending road to bliss. They joke about finding the next exit. Rafe then gets a call and thanks them for letting him know. Rafe hangs up and informs Jada that Eric spent the night in lockup which shocks Jada.

Eric asks why Shawn can’t just refuse to cooperate with the prosecution. Shawn explains that Melinda has other witnesses from the bar that night and if this goes to trial, she will call him and he will have no choice but to testify. Sloan calls this outrageous. Sloan then steps aside and pulls out her phone to call Melinda. Sloan says she’s calling about her new client, Eric Brady. Sloan reminds Melinda that she just handed her two career making cases and that she owes her which she can make up by putting an end to this witch hunt against Eric. Sloan hangs up and announces that Melinda agreed to drop all charges, so Eric is free to go. Eric is then removed from his handcuffs and tells Sloan that he doesn’t know how to repay her. Sloan jokes that he can use a check, PayPal, or Venmo. Eric asks if they can start with breakfast which Sloan agrees to. Belle argues that Eric can’t just leave as they need to talk. Eric tells her there’s nothing left to say as he then exits the station with Sloan.

Johnny sits with Chanel and tells her that Sloan has to know what happened was an accident, but Chanel tells him that Sloan is convinced it was murder. Johnny asks if she’s talked to her to help her see things from her side. Chanel says Johnny doesn’t understand that Sloan is so angry and hellbent on revenge that she is not going to stop and has made it her life’s mission to take down her, Paulina, and now Abe. Johnny assures that Belle won’t let that happen. Chanel feels it’s already happening and that she’s destroying her parents’ lives.

Abe insists that they will get Paulina out of here and to capitol city and they will weather this storm like they have every other. Abe says that Paulina will be sworn in as Governor and he will be right there by her side as First Gentleman just like they planned. Abe adds that city council may have done him a favor. Abe then calls Cass back to give him his answer. Abe starts to give his answer but Paulina grabs the phone and tells Cass that Abe has decided not to step down now or ever.

Rafe informs Jada that Eric got drunk and assaulted EJ and Shawn. Jada can’t believe it as Eric never even raised his voice so she can’t imagine him putting his hands on anyone, especially a cop. Rafe points out that Jada hasn’t known Eric that long and it’s not the first time he’s spiraled out of control. Rafe tells Jada that she dodged a bullet and says something tells him that this is just the beginning of Saint Eric’s fall from grace.

Eric and Sloan have breakfast together in the town square. Eric talks about how the food in lockup was not great. Eric thanks her again and says he really appreciates this. Nicole approaches and says she’s glad to see he’s out and that EJ dropped the charges. Eric assures her that EJ had nothing to do with it and that it’s all thanks to his lawyer. Sloan then introduces herself to Nicole and says it’s a pleasure to meet her. Sloan adds that she knows exactly who Nicole is and brings up all her last names from her previous marriages. Sloan remarks that like her, Nicole’s reputation precedes her.

Belle tells Shawn that seeing Eric like this really scares her. Shawn assures that Eric can handle Sloan. Belle asks what about his pain and brings up the last time Eric was in a place this dark and how some really bad things happened. Shawn encourages that Eric’s come a long way since then and now he’s in a rough patch, but he will get through it. Belle prays that he’s right. Belle decides she better go since Paulina is waiting for her. Shawn offers to go with her to help explain Eric’s choice in lawyer. Belle says she’s got it and she will assure Abe that Sloan may have gotten her tentacles in to Eric but she won’t let her cause any more damage to his family.

Abe questions what Paulina is doing. Paulina tells Cass that Abe is staying put and he doesn’t have to worry about any trouble arising from Abe being married to her, because she won’t be Governor. Paulina says she knows she’s been elected but she hasn’t been sworn in yet and she has decided that she never will be.

Johnny questions why Chanel didn’t tell him any of this when they were together. Chanel says she was ashamed about having an affair with a married man and didn’t want anyone to know about it. Johnny says they never would’ve judged her. Chanel says she knows that now but she thought all of this was behind her until Sloan showed up in town and she got arrested in the middle of the town square. Johnny is sorry he wasn’t there for that and says he left Salem at the worst time because he wasn’t there for Chanel or when his grandma Susan died. Chanel is surprised to hear Susan died. Johnny questions Allie not telling her. Chanel guesses she didn’t want to lay anything else on her. Chanel tells Johnny that she’s so sorry as she knows how much Johnny loved Susan. Chanel says she’s going on about her life while Johnny must be hurting so bad. Johnny admits that he is and so is his dad.

EJ looks through his laptop for the quarterly projections and then complains of a headache. EJ looks over at a framed photo of Susan until the doorbell rings. EJ goes to answer the door and is shocked by who he sees…

Nicole dreams of waking up in bed with EJ.

Eric wakes up in his jail cell to see Paulina in the cell next to him, asking what he’s in for.

Chanel walks through the town square and finds that someone has spray painted “Murderer” on the Bakery.

Gabi is cooking at home as Li joins her, wearing one of her robes. They joke about it as Li mentions that he wasn’t planning on sleeping over but she’ll be waking up to him in the robe for the rest of their lives. Gabi jokes that’s fine by her as she knows how easy it is to take off as they kiss.

Johnny calls Wendy and says he had to know if she still thinks they are doing the right thing. Wendy admits that she’s not sure anymore as she hates keeping it quiet. Johnny reminds her that she has to and she cannot tell Gabi. Wendy feels it’s so unfair to Gabi .Johnny warns her that she doesn’t know Gabi like he does and if she finds out that EJ and Li brainwashed Stefan, she’s going to make them pay because of how tortured she is over Stefan not loving her. Johnny states that Gabi will be out for blood if she finds out that EJ and Li had anything to do with it. Johnny pleads with Wendy to stick with the plan. Wendy agrees to try and declares that it will stay their little secret. Allie then comes in and says she didn’t know Wendy was home. Wendy tells Johnny that he’ll have to stop calling so early as the phone woke Allie up. Johnny questions if she heard her. Wendy quickly finishes the call and apologizes to Allie. Allie says it’s fine as she got plenty of sleep since Chanel took Henry to daycare. Allie asks when Wendy got back. Wendy says it was during the night and mentions leaving a note about why she was gone. Allie questions who she was on the phone with. Wendy tells her it was Johnny, so Allie asks if Johnny went along on the trip she took. Wendy confirms that he did. Allie questions them going on a mysterious trip together and now he’s calling her first thing in the morning. Allie asks what happened between them unless that was what Wendy was promising to keep a secret.

Li and Gabi have breakfast together and talk about moving in together after they get married.

Chanel tries cleaning the graffiti off the bakery as Sloan walks by and sarcastically calls it a shame. Sloan remarks that it sure looks like the public opinion of Chanel is changing. Chanel knows that Sloan hated when she was released on bail which Sloan calls not true. Sloan claims she’s very happy that the judge let her out and points out that the inmate who took her cell is her mother.

Eric and Paulina tell each other that they didn’t expect to see the other in jail. Paulina questions what they got Eric for. Eric tells her that it was assault and battery. Paulina questions an ex-priest having a temper. Eric confirms he does under the right circumstances. Paulina asks who he assaulted. Eric responds that it was a smug son of a bitch who has had it coming for a very long time.

Nicole wakes up from her nightmare about having had sex with EJ. Nicole is relieved that she’s alone and says maybe she’s not a hopeless slut if she didn’t sleep with EJ. EJ then enters to bring her breakfast in bed, so Nicole suggests maybe she is dead wrong.

Gabi tells Li that she has to get going as she has an appointment with the florist. Li jokes about not having to be there as Gabi says they will make the perfect couple. They say I love you as Gabi kisses him goodbye and exits. Li remarks to himself that loving Gabi is why he did what he did.

Allie asks Wendy if she and Johnny are hooking up and says it’s fine with her as it’s none of her business. Wendy says they don’t want anyone finding out like Li and EJ. Allie agrees to keep quiet as Wendy says it’s still new so they just want to keep it to themselves for right now. Allie repeats that what they do is none of her business. Wendy brings up that Johnny and Chanel used to be married. Allie says that might have been a sore subject before, but Chanel has much bigger things to worry about now.

Chanel tells Sloan to come after her. Sloan says she intends to. Chanel argues that Paulina wasn’t even in town on the night that Sloan’s mother died. Sloan argues that she showed up fast enough to cut a check to cover her ass which is a crime. Chanel argues that Paulina was trying to protect her from being railroaded. Sloan remarks that it must be nice to have a mother that takes care of you like that. Sloan adds that because of Chanel, she doesn’t have a mother or a father and her only protection is her knowledge of the law. Sloan wanted Chanel to have the same feeling of having everything she cares about taken away from her.

Paulina comments on Eric looking like he’s recovering from a hangover which he confirms. Paulina asks if Eric punched EJ because he was drunk. Eric responds that it was something he’s wanted to do for a long time. Paulina remarks that EJ seems to rub everybody the wrong way. Paulina brings up Chanel being married to Johnny and says she made the mistake of thinking EJ would want to make a good impression on her, but he called Chanel a gold digger to her face. Eric comments that it sounds like something EJ would do. Paulina asks what EJ said to make Eric punch him. Eric explains that what EJ said about Chanel wasn’t true and he only said it to hurt them while what EJ said about him was true and he only said it for the look on his face, so he decided to rearrange EJ’s face.

Nicole tells EJ that she will pass on breakfast but EJ insists on a smoothie as a hangover cure that came from his grandmother passed down to his mother which will bring instant relief. Nicole tries it and complains of the taste but EJ encourages her. EJ remarks that Susan always looked out for him, especially when he couldn’t look out for himself.

Johnny walks through the town square and comes across Gabi. Gabi tells him that she’s really sorry about Susan. Johnny thanks her and says he really misses her. Gabi calls her one of a kind. Johnny mentions that it’s killing EJ and he wishes he was there for him. Gabi recalls that Johnny was jet setting around the world with Wendy when the accident happened. Johnny questions her knowing about that. Gabi confirms that Li was ready to fire Wendy and she had to talk him down. Gabi argues that taking the company jet out was a little over the top when Wendy just started on the job. Johnny guesses she’s right. Gabi then questions what made him pick Indonesia for their romantic getaway.

Wendy tells Allie that she can’t believe Chanel was in jail. Allie says that’s not at all. Wendy guesses she’s been gone a long time. Allie says it all happened really fast. Wendy asks why. Allie starts to explain that there was something in Chanel’s past that she didn’t know about. Chanel then comes home and acknowledges that Wendy is back. Wendy tells her that she just found out she got arrested and she’s so sorry. Wendy asks if they dropped the charges. Chanel clarifies that she’s out on bail. Allie thought Chanel was going to open the bakery. Chanel responds that she did and then her day pretty much fell apart.

Nicole jokes about the smoothie but admits she’s feeling a little better and thanks EJ for letting her stay the night. Nicole wonders how Eric’s morning is. EJ guesses it’s exactly as he deserves.

Eric tells Paulina that he doesn’t want to talk about last night anymore. Paulina says fine as she has her own EJ to deal with. Paulina complains about Sloan going after her and Chanel so she wishes she could smack the smile off her face. Sloan then appears outside her cell and tells her to go ahead and take her best shot.

Nicole can’t believe Eric was drunk since he’s been sober since the accident that killed Daniel and she’s never seen him that drunk, so she feels awful for him. EJ can’t believe that, reminding her that Eric called her a slut and punched him in the face and that Nicole backed him up when he decided to press charges. Nicole points out that she had several martinis by then. EJ questions if she’s having second thoughts. Nicole confirms that she is.

Paulina mocks Sloan being ready to take her on now that there are bars between them. Sloan mocks that she just came to check out her new accommodations and calls it quite a fall from Governor-elect. Paulina assures she’ll be back on top. Sloan says she wouldn’t hold her breath. Paulina tells Sloan to stay away from Chanel. Sloan jokes that Paulina can fight all of Chanel’s battles when they are both sharing a cell. Paulina argues that what happened was an accident but Sloan says they both know that Chanel pushed her mother off the roof. Sloan tells Paulina to just drop the victim act because her mother was her victim.

Wendy tells Allie and Chanel that Sloan sounds like someone you don’t want to cross. Allie asks if Chanel thinks Sloan is the one who wrote “Murderer” on the Bakery window. Chanel asks who else would do something like that and worries that Sloan is not going to stop trying to make her life hell. Allie argues that Chanel wouldn’t have even crossed paths with Sloan’s mother if she hadn’t lied to her and invited her to that roof. Chanel says they know it but no one will be able to convince Sloan otherwise. Chanel explains to Wendy that she had an affair with Sloan’s father and before he drank himself to death, he told Sloan that Chanel pushed her mother off the roof which Wendy calls awful. Chanel adds that ever since then, Sloan has been out to get here and now she’s being charged with murder while Paulina is in jail for supposedly covering it up. Chanel is afraid that Sloan won’t stop until she goes after everyone that she loves.

Gabi asks Johnny more about Jakarta but Johnny says he doesn’t know much about it since Li made them come back as soon as they got there. Johnny suggests Gabi and Li could go there for their honeymoon. Gabi agrees to put it on the list. Johnny questions them not making plans yet when they are getting married in a couple of weeks. Gabi says that Li has been really busy and she doesn’t know about planning a honeymoon since she’s never been on one. Gabi recalls the love not coming until later in her and Stefan’s relationship and how they were actually planning the honeymoon when she lost him. Gabi then says she doesn’t know why she is telling him this since Stefan wants nothing to do with her. Gabi repeats that she’s sorry about Susan and starts to walk off but Johnny stops her and says he has to tell her something…

Wendy makes breakfast for Allie and Chanel. Chanel says she didn’t have to but Wendy says they’ve been so nice in letting her stay. Allie points out that she’s hardly been there. Wendy comments on them going through a rough time and says to just let her know any time she can help with cooking. Allie and Chanel praise her pancakes. Wendy hopes it will make her feel better. Chanel says she needs a distraction so she asks Wendy about her trip, saying it sounds exciting and questions why she rushed back. Wendy claims to Chanel that it was mostly just work stuff while Allie smiles and nods along.

Gabi questions what Johnny wanted to tell her but Li arrives and interrupts them. Li tells Gabi to go on ahead as he has to talk with Johnny about his trip to Jakarta. Gabi tells Li to go easy on him and walks away. Li then questions if Johnny was just about to tell Gabi what he did to Stefan.

EJ tells Nicole about how Eric makes her feel guilty. Nicole argues that she doesn’t feel guilty but she doesn’t think he should’ve spent the night in jail. EJ argues that Eric punched him in the face. Nicole points out that was because EJ said he was stupid for losing her and the baby. EJ thought she didn’t remember anything from last night. Nicole calls that hard to forget. Nicole then asks EJ if they had sex. EJ confirms they did not which relieves her. EJ decides that he could call the district attorney’s office to tell them that he no longer wishes to press charges, but notes that Shawn might not be as forgiving. EJ says he will make that call for her if she would like him to.

Sloan tells Paulina that nailing her and Chanel doesn’t make her happy as she loved her mother and nothing she does will bring her back. Paulina blames Sloan’s father for seducing Chanel while Sloan argues that Chanel did the seducing. Paulina is sure it wasn’t the first time that he used his position on a pretty young female student and any private investigator can dig up his other conquests. Paulina suggests blaming him for her mother’s death. Sloan suggests Paulina pull strings to get her and Chanel in the same prison as Lani. Paulina then calls for the guard to get Sloan out. The guard comes over and says he’s here to take Paulina upstairs because Belle is there as her lawyer. Paulina says she has a lot to tell her. Sloan says she can also tell Belle that she has hard evidence that details what Paulina did to cover up Chanel’s crimes and that she’s going to need good luck as the guard escorts Paulina away. Sloan then looks over at Eric in his cell and questions what he is gawking at.

Nicole tells EJ that she knows Eric hurt her but she doesn’t think he should spend any more time in jail. EJ reluctantly agrees to her wishes and makes the call but it goes straight to voicemail. EJ leaves a message for Melinda to call him back about the assault charges he filed last night. Nicole says she is satisfied. EJ responds that he’s willing to do what she wants, but thinks that Eric deserves to find out that he can’t get away with treating her like rubbish.

Eric tells Sloan that he didn’t want to witness that scene but he couldn’t exactly leave the room. Sloan responds that she has good reason to despise Paulina. Eric says he heard. Sloan calls Belle a two bit bimbo that won’t be able to get Paulina out of this. Eric responds that Belle is not a two bit lawyer or a bimbo. Sloan questions how he knows. Eric then reveals that Belle is his sister.

Chanel says she would stay and help with the dishes but she has to go since visiting hours at the jail just started. Allie decides that she will walk her out since she has to go pick up Henry from daycare and then take him to see Santa. Allie adds that she will stop by the Bakery to check on the wedding cake design for Li and Gabi’s wedding. Wendy didn’t know they were doing the cake for the wedding. Allie mentions how excited Li seems to be to marry Gabi and guesses Wendy must be excited too.

Li guesses by the look on Johnny’s face that he was about to tell Gabi what he learned in Jakarta. Johnny questions what he’s talking about. Li informs him that he already talked to Dr. Rolf and knows that Johnny knows everything. Li adds that he talked to Wendy, who said she would keep her mouth shut and that Johnny would do the same. Li asks if he’s changed his mind. Johnny confirms that he’s not going to say anything. Li asks if he’s sure since EJ was in on this and he seemed pretty eager to get something on him. Johnny says not anymore after EJ lost his mom as revenge no longer appeals to him. Li tells Johnny that he made the right decision. Johnny clarifies that he’s keeping his mouth shut but he’s not okay with what he did to Stefan. Johnny declares that he thinks Li sucks. Li responds that he doesn’t care what he thinks of him and warns him to just stay out of his way. Johnny remarks that it must be nice to go through life without a conscience. Gabi comes back over and asks if everything is okay. Johnny claims he was just telling Li what a lucky guy he is as he then walks off.

Johnny goes to see Wendy, who asks what he’s doing there. Johnny questions how much Allie heard when he called earlier. Wendy says she heard her say that she was keeping a secret, but thought that they were hooking up so she went along with it which Johnny calls a nice save. Johnny jokes about Allie jumping to crazy conclusions. Wendy adds that Allie was all for it. Johnny guesses they will have to keep her thinking that then. Johnny adds that the reason he came over was because he just had a major run in with Li after he caught him talking to Gabi and thought he was going to tell her what Li did to Stefan. Wendy asks if he was going to. Johnny says not at first but then Gabi started talking about how much she loved Stefan and he can tell she still does. Johnny admits that for a second he thought about telling her the truth, but that’s when Li walked up. Johnny confirms that Gabi still doesn’t know anything and that Li made it very clear they would pay if she finds out. Johnny thinks it will be harder to keep this secret than they thought.

Li asks Gabi what she was talking to so intently with Johnny about. Gabi says that Johnny couldn’t believe they hadn’t picked out their honeymoon yet. Li suggests they should do that tonight and declares that he can’t wait for this wedding to happen. Gabi thinks they are both lucky and says thank God she found him as she hugs him.

Paulina meets with Chanel in the interrogation room. Paulina is thankful to see her but questions why they said she was meeting her lawyer. Chanel explains that Belle was there but she got a phone call, so they said they could have a quick visit until she gets back. Chanel asks how she is and how they are treating her. Paulina says it takes more than a jail cell to keep her down but complains about Sloan coming in to gloat. Chanel responds that Sloan is having quite the morning. Chanel tells Paulina about someone writing “Murderer” on the Bakery and how Sloan showed up as she was cleaning it off. Paulina worries about Sloan still being in the building and she doesn’t want Chanel to have to deal with her, so she suggests she go. Chanel refuses and points out that Paulina was there when she needed her, so she’s going to do the same thing for her.

Sloan questions Eric about Belle being his sister and apologizes if she offended him. Sloan then questions why Belle is here to see Paulina and isn’t representing him too. Eric responds that he asked her but she refused which Sloan questions. Eric says he got a little hostile with her husband and he ended up on the ground. Sloan calls it funny since Eric doesn’t seem like the type of guy to do something like that. Eric calls it a rough week and says he found out some things he didn’t want to know, but that’s no excuse. Sloan acknowledges that life sometimes gets hard to take. Eric agrees that anger can be the only thing to keep you going. Sloan comments that acting out on that anger can leave you needing a lawyer. Sloan then points out that Eric still needs a lawyer and asks what about her.

Nicole tells EJ that she has to shower and get going since she promised Holly that she would find them a place to live today. EJ notes that could take more than a day. Nicole feels she can’t leave Holly with Maggie indefinitely. EJ suggests Nicole and Holly both stay here until she finds something. Nicole says she couldn’t impose and he’s still grieving for Susan. EJ points out that Nicole is still grieving her hopes for her and Eric. EJ remarks that misery loves company unless she has a better offer. Nicole then gives in and accepts. EJ toasts their smoothies to new beginnings as she thanks him.

Nicole says absolutely not to going home with EJ and insists that she’s not drunk. EJ says he wasn’t suggesting they do anything, he was just offering her one of their many guest bedrooms. Nicole asks if he’s sure. EJ asks what better use of the guest rooms and assures it’d be no trouble at all. EJ admits he could use the company. Nicole then accepts his offer and starts to get up but stumbles. EJ guesses she is more drunk than she thought. EJ gets up to help Nicole walk right as Eric arrives and sees them together. Eric questions what Nicole is doing with EJ. Nicole responds that she’s leaving. Eric asks where the hell they are going. EJ informs Eric that Nicole is coming home with him.

At the police station, Shawn finishes a call with Jada, telling her not to worry about it and feel better. Belle comes in and informs Shawn that Melinda isn’t backing down and plans to charge Paulina with this so-called cover up, so she’ll have to spend the night in jail. Shawn complains that the papers will be all over this and that Melinda just lives to see her name on the front page. Shawn asks how Paulina is doing. Belle says that Paulina thinks she can handle it as long as Chanel is out of jail. Shawn says that Belle has her work cut out for her. Belle responds that Stephanie does too. Belle knows Stephanie is supposed to be a PR genius, but she doesn’t know how she can spin this one.

Alex shows up at Paulina’s office, only to find Stephanie hugging Chad. Stephanie asks what he’s doing there. Alex explains that when she cancelled on their date, he thought maybe she wouldn’t have time to eat, so he brought her food. Stephanie thanks him and says that’s so thoughtful of him. Alex then calls it unnecessary since he assumed she was busy with work.

Sonny and Leo continue going through the wanted ads at the Kiriakis Mansion to find Leo a job. Leo gets why Sonny can’t give him a job at Titan, but asks if he could at least give him a reference. Leo adds that he knows Paulina won’t. Sonny says they have their work cut out for them. Leo knows Sonny doesn’t have to be doing this and he doesn’t deserve it, but he does appreciate it. Sonny responds that right now, he has nothing better to do.

Kristen remarks to herself that Marlena was wrong as sometimes her schemes actually do work, like tonight as she wasn’t actually going to visit EJ while dressed as Susan, she just needed to get Brady to see her in a new light and it worked. Brady then returns to the room. Kristen thought he was putting Rachel to bed. Brady explains that she wanted John to tell her another bedtime story. Brady questions if Kristen was having a full on conversation with a doll when he walked in.

Shawn tells Belle about taking this job to put the bad guys away, yet there are still so many around out there while he’s arresting Paulina and Chanel. Belle knows it’s been a rough couple of weeks, but he has tomorrow off so he can relax and regroup. Shawn reveals he doesn’t anymore as Jada just called in and said she needs the next few days off to recover from a medical procedure. Belle questions what kind of medical procedure.

Eric questions what EJ just said. Nicole confirms that she’s going home with EJ. Eric asks if she’s drunk. EJ questions if Eric is passing judgment and calls that out of character. Nicole insists that she is not drunk. EJ adds that even if she was, it would be none of Eric’s damn business. Eric tells EJ to stay out of this. Eric warns Nicole that this is not a good idea, reminding her of what happened last night. Nicole tells Eric not to worry about her marriage or her reputation, because it’s shot to Hell. Eric says he’s worried about her and argues that sleeping with Xander is the biggest mistake of her life, then asks if she’s going to double down by going home with EJ. EJ calls Eric the biggest mistake of her life. Eric questions what the hell is wrong with her.

Leo’s stomach growls, so Sonny questions him not eating dinner. Leo reminds him that he has no money. Sonny decides he will go talk to Cook about making them something. Leo hopes he’s not overstepping. Sonny jokes that they are way past that point as he exits the room. Sonny’s phone then rings with a call from Will, so Leo answers it.

Chad tells Alex that it’s not what it looks like. Stephanie explains that she told Chad that he could go home to his kids but he decided to stay, so she was just showing him how grateful she was for his help. Chad adds that they are in the middle of a crisis. Alex asks what’s going on. Stephanie explains that they were about to issue a PR statement for Paulina, but then Paulina got arrested as Melinda came up with some bogus charges about a criminal cover up which she calls just an attempt to keep her name in the headlines. Chad adds that it’s hard to counter because the charges are not exactly untrue. Stephanie says they’ve been wrestling with a revised statement. Alex offers to try to help. Stephanie says it would be amazing if he would be willing to take a look. Alex says he doesn’t have any other plans anymore and he did stick his neck out to steal the file from Sloan, so he is involved. Alex adds that Chanel is his friend too, so he’d love to help her and Paulina out. Alex then sits down to take a look. Alex agrees that they are in a hell of a mess.

Shawn tells Belle that Jada didn’t tell him what kind of procedure and it’s not really his business. Belle explains that she was just asking because Eric told Marlena that Jada is pregnant, which surprises Shawn. Shawn wonders if this has something to do with the baby. Belle asks how many medical procedures pregnant women have. Shawn asks if she thinks Jada was having an abortion but Belle insists there is no way since Jada told Marlena that she’s having the baby and Eric was so excited about being a dad. Belle just hopes nothing went wrong.

Nicole tells Eric to just go ahead and call her a slut. Eric says he’s not calling her anything and he just thinks her sleeping with EJ is a big mistake. Nicole argues that she didn’t say she was going to sleep with him, just that she was going home with him to his house and guest bedroom because she doesn’t have a house since she blew up her marriage to be with Eric and now Eric and Rafe both hate her so she’s been sleeping in her office. Eric argues that he doesn’t hate her while Nicole insists that he does because he thinks she talked Jada in to an abortion. Eric just doesn’t know why Nicole talked to Jada at all. EJ tells Eric that Nicole doesn’t have to listen to this. Eric then yells at EJ to get his hands off of her.

Kristen asks what Brady is so concerned about. Brady finds it strange that Kristen is talking to inanimate objects. Kristen jokes that it’s because she and Rachel have been playing with dolls so much. Brady brings up Rachel’s Christmas list having all the traditional items like a bike and a pony, but then she says more than anything in the world, she wants her mom and dad to be married.

Leo tells Will that Sonny is fine and is just getting them so food. Sonny comes back in and questions what Leo is doing on his phone. Leo responds that he was just talking to Sonny’s husband, so Sonny runs over and grabs the phone from him. Sonny tells Will that everything is fine and he was just helping Leo look for jobs online. Sonny says he remembers everything Leo did to him, but a lot has changed since Will has been gone. Sonny asks if they can just talk about this when Will comes home for Christmas, but Will then reveals that he is not coming home for Christmas.

Brady accuses Kristen of putting Rachel up to this. Kristen denies that and says every kid wants their parents to be together. Brady complains that now Rachel actually thinks it’s possible because Kristen blackmailed her way in to this house. Kristen doesn’t see it that way. Brady argues that Kristen is getting Rachel’s hopes up for something that’s never going to happen. Kristen adds that if she wanted to get married to him, she would’ve just made it a condition of their agreement. Kristen reminds Brady that in another month, Marlena, Kate, and Kayla are going to get sick again. Brady asks if she’s just working her way up to forcing him to marry her, but Kristen says she’s not and never will.

Shawn tells Belle that Jada told him the other day that she and Eric broke up. Belle responds that they are still going to raise the baby together. Belle talks about how Eric has always wanted to be a father, so he’s not going to just leave Jada high and dry. Shawn brings up that Rafe said Eric and Nicole were back together. Belle says that having a baby is complicated, but Eric would be a really good dad. Shawn guesses Belle is worried about him now. Belle hopes it’s nothing and says she’ll call Eric tomorrow. Shawn asks if Belle wants to get out of here. Belle says she will work on Paulina’s arraignment in the morning so there isn’t much else she can do now. Shawn suggests they go drown their sorrows at Small Bar. Belle agrees and they exit together.

Eric tells Nicole that she doesn’t have to go home with EJ. EJ asks if Eric is offering an alternative and suggests a room at his dad’s bar, next to Eric’s ex with an axe to grind. Eric remarks that he’s trying to overlook EJ being a dirtbag because his mom died. EJ warns him to keep his mother’s name out of his mouth. Nicole asks where Eric suggests she go. EJ remarks that he probably thinks she should go to Hell. Eric warns EJ to stay out of this. EJ tells Eric to go ahead and take a swing at him. EJ says Eric might feel better by blaming him for his bad life. EJ adds that Eric didn’t have to lose his baby and Nicole, but it was his choice. Eric then punches EJ in the face, knocking him down.

Sonny gets angry when Will tells him that he can’t come home for Christmas because of his job. Sonny claims he understands and says he’ll talk to him later. Sonny starts to cry and hangs up. Leo questions there being no “I love you”. Sonny says not tonight. Leo tells him that he’s sorry.

Alex, Stephanie, and Chad eat the Chinese food that Alex brought. Alex has Stephanie try Stinky Tofu and says he’s broadening her boundaries. They go over the statement and Stephanie asks what they think. Chad thinks it’s solid while Alex finds it tepid and thinks they need to go on the offense rather than just run away from the accusations. Chad argues that Paulina can’t admit to anything when it’s an ongoing case. Alex says they don’t have to get in to details and points out that all Paulina is guilty of is protecting her child and asks why she should apologize for being guilty of that. Stephanie agrees and says he just gave her a great idea. Alex smiles and looks over at Chad, who shakes his head.

Nicole questions what the hell is wrong with Eric as EJ gets back to his feet. Shawn and Belle arrive. Shawn asks what’s going on. EJ responds that Eric just assaulted him. Shawn asks if that’s true. EJ argues that he didn’t push himself over. Belle questions what happened. EJ explains that Jada had an abortion and Eric is blaming Nicole for it. Eric calls that private while EJ argues that so is Nicole’s personal life. Shawn separates them and tries to take Eric outside to cool down but Eric tells him to get his hands off of him. Shawn and Belle question if Eric has been drinking. Eric admits that he had a drink. Belle argues that he doesn’t drink anymore. Eric calls it a choice and says he’s not an alcoholic. Shawn asks how many he had. Nicole doesn’t know since he just got there. Shawn questions Eric having a drink and then getting in a car to drive to a bar and asks if he was going to have more drinks. Eric questions if he’s the alcohol police. Shawn says he’s just a friend and tries to take Eric outside again but Eric shoves Shawn down and reminds him that he said to get his hands off of him, shocking Belle, Nicole, and EJ.

Brady questions what is stopping Kristen from upping her ante on her blackmail. Kristen points out that when she got out of prison, Brady wouldn’t talk to her or even look at her, so she had to break through that wall somehow and now they are living together, raising their daughter. Kristen says she won’t keep giving him ultimatums as she doesn’t want to force him in to something he doesn’t want. Kristen reminds Brady that what they had was always real and says it still is. Kristen says she feels it right now. Brady responds that if she’s sincere about not wanting to manipulate him and if she really cares about and loves him, then she can prove it by just giving him the orchid that saves Marlena, Kayla, and Kate’s lives.

Leo asks Sonny why Will is not coming home for Christmas. Sonny says it’s the same old stuff as he’s doing another movie for Peacock and they want him on set. Leo asks if Sonny thinks Will is lying. Sonny says of course not. Leo suggests Sonny go out there to see him, but Sonny says he can’t and points out that Will didn’t exactly encourage that either. Sonny adds that Gabi has already made winter plans for Arianna. Leo guesses answering Sonny’s phone didn’t help. Sonny questions why he did. Leo claims that he called Sonny but he didn’t hear him, so he figured he would answer and let Will know he was there but he forgot he’s a trigger for Will. Leo swears he was not trying to make trouble. Sonny responds that Leo doesn’t have to try, he just does. Leo decides he will go and tells Sonny that he appreciates his help with the wanted ads. Sonny stops Leo and invites him to stay for dinner since the food is already being made.

Stephanie goes over the statement and says it’s better but still missing something. Alex feels it’s closer. Chad then points out that it’s missing Paulina’s voice as she would never say “my daughter”, she would say “my little girl”. Stephanie smiles and agrees. Stephanie then revises the statement and Alex calls it perfect.

Brady repeats that if Kristen really wants him to believe that she’s not manipulative and blackmailing him anymore, then she can just give him the orchid now. Kristen responds that she would really love to do that, but questions what would stop him from kicking her out, calling the cops, and going back to Chloe. Brady says Rachel’s reaction would stop him and as far as Chloe is concerned, he can’t go back to her because she’s with Stefan now. Kristen feels he will still move her out and that will crush Rachel. Kristen argues that this living arrangement isn’t so terrible. Brady suggests she ask John and Marlena that. Kristen points out that they are raising their daughter together and they are happy. Kristen asks if there’s a little part of Brady that is happy too.

Belle checks on Shawn, who assures he’s okay. EJ points out that’s two assaults in one night and one was on an officer of the law. EJ asks Shawn if he’s going to arrest Eric. Shawn asks if EJ is pressing charges. EJ asks why wouldn’t he. Nicole points out that Eric didn’t mean to but EJ insists that he did and he meant to hurt Nicole when he accused her of killing his baby. EJ declares that Nicole doesn’t owe Eric a damn thing which she agrees with. Nicole decides that if EJ wants to press charges, she won’t stand in his way. Shawn tells Eric that he’s sorry then as he doesn’t have a choice. Shawn then handcuffs Eric.

Stephanie, Alex, and Chad toast to teamwork. Alex points out that there’s only two fortune cookies since he didn’t know Chad would be hanging out. Chad says there’s no worries as they open them up. Alex reads his fortune which says “Help, I’m trapped inside of a fortune cookie factory.” Stephanie then shows Alex her fortune, which reads “You’re looking at the man of your dreams.”

EJ goes home with Nicole to the DiMera Mansion. EJ pours a drink and asks if he can get Nicole anything. Nicole declines and thinks she’s had enough for the night. EJ asks how she’s doing. Nicole admits she’s not good as she feels responsible for Eric going off like that tonight. EJ tells her she can’t blame herself. Nicole argues that even EJ agreed that she talked Jada in to an abortion. EJ argues that doesn’t excuse Eric’s behavior. EJ states that Eric wanted a baby, but Jada didn’t and she realized that while talking to Nicole, so if Eric can’t respect her choice, that’s his problem. Nicole supposes that’s true but since she can’t have a baby, she would do anything to be in Jada’s shoes. EJ asks if she means to be having a baby with Eric. Nicole complains that her head is spinning and she doesn’t know what to think or how to feel. Nicole brings up Eric getting drunk behind the wheel and killing Daniel and how she never thought he’d drink again after that. EJ understands she’s worried about Eric, but points out that his sister is his lawyer and his brother in law was his arresting officer, so he’s going to get off with a slap on the wrist. EJ hopes that will be the wakeup call that Eric needs.

Shawn and Belle bring Eric to the police station. Eric calls it ridiculous that EJ is a bonafide criminal and he’s getting him arrested. Shawn points out that EJ pressed charges, so he had no choice. Eric asks Belle to help him and do something. Belle responds that she’s sorry but she can’t.

Brady asks Kristen if he looks happy. Kristen points out that answering a question with a question is still an answer. Brady asks if she thinks he’s going to suddenly decide to want to marry her. Kristen says she’s not delusional and suggests baby steps. Kristen wants to start right now by spending the night together. Brady argues that’s not baby steps. Kristen points out that they’ve had sex before and she’s never known him to turn her down. Kristen urges Brady to give in to his feelings, say screw it, and go make love right now.

Sonny and Leo eat sandwiches and chips together. Leo finds a listing for an executive assistant job and gets excited but then realizes it was just Paulina listing for his replacement. Sonny laughs and says Paulina will never find anyone else like him.

Chad decides he should get home. Stephanie thanks him for staying. Chad says it was his pleasure but he’s not sure how much he helped. Stephanie says she couldn’t have done it without both of them. Chad says he’ll see her tomorrow and thanks Alex for the tofu. Chad then exits. Alex then apologizes for overreacting but Stephanie says she’s glad he came in when he did because a new perspective is just what they needed. Stephanie adds that she does feel bad about canceling their date. They agree on a rain check. Alex and Stephanie then start kissing as Chad returns, having forgot his coat. Chad then walks in to see them kissing.

EJ brings Nicole to the guest bedroom and says he hopes it suits her. Nicole says it has a bed so it already beats her office. EJ tells her that she’s welcome to stay as long as she needs, noting that there’s toiletries in the bathroom and aspirin for her headache in the morning. EJ offers to have her things sent over but Nicole says given their history, she doesn’t plan on overstaying her welcome. Nicole thanks EJ for this. Nicole then notices a photo of EJ and Susan on the end table and asks if this was Susan’s room. EJ says he’ll get that out of her way. Nicole asks if he’s sure he wants her to stay in this room when there are so many others. EJ calls it the nicest room and says he wants her to have it as she deserves it. EJ says he’ll see her in the morning and tells her to sleep well as he then exits the room.

Shawn tells Eric that court is closed for the night so there is nothing Belle can do tonight. Belle gets the circumstances but points out that Eric isn’t even pressing charges for the worst thing he did tonight which was assaulting a cop. Eric argues that he barely touched him. Shawn advises Eric to keep his voice down. Belle brings up that Eric was drinking and driving and punched EJ. Eric calls EJ an ass but tells Belle to go ahead and take his side since she did sleep with him. Belle asks if he’s serious. Belle questions him wanting her help and then provoking her. Belle tells Eric that he’s on his own then and can get his own lawyer. Eric tries to apologize but Belle says to get him out of her face so Shawn escorts Eric away to be locked up.

Brady tells Kristen that he’s sorry but until she hands over the orchid to him, nothing is going to happen between them and then walks out of the room.

Sonny is playing a video game in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion when Alex walks in, asking what shirt he should wear but Sonny remains focused on the game. Alex then gets in Sonny’s way, causing him to lose his game. Sonny argues that Alex is a grown adult and asks why he can’t dress himself. Alex responds that he’s having another date with Stephanie, so he doesn’t want any mistakes as he asks which shirt he should wear. Leo then walks in and says neither of them.

John and Marlena sit in the town square with Rachel. John asks Rachel about her Christmas list. Rachel says it’s not finished yet. John asks Marlena what she wants for Christmas. Marlena responds that her gift is already on the way in a new grandbaby. Marlena comments on being happy for Eric even though the situation is complicated, because he’s always wanted a child and when the baby arrives, he will be over the moon…

Eric goes to Jada’s and knocks on the door, asking if she’s there as he just wanted to see how she was doing. Eric says if she’s listening, he’s there for her if she needs anything at all. There’s no response, so Eric walks away.

Nicole sits at the Bistro, having a drink while holding back tears until EJ arrives and greets her.

Brady goes home to John and Marlena’s and is shocked to apparently see Susan inside. She comments that he looks like he’s seen a ghost. Brady asks if that’s what she is as he questions how this is possible after the car crash. “Susan” responds that reports of her death have been greatly exaggerated, leaving Brady confused.

Nicole tells EJ that she was going to call him as she’s so sorry about his mother. EJ appreciates that but guesses that’s not the reason why she is upset. EJ guesses it’s about Eric. Nicole asks what makes him say that. EJ informs her that he saw Rafe the other night. Nicole asks if Rafe told him the whole story. EJ responds that Rafe told him that she was leaving him for Eric, but that there might already be trouble in paradise. EJ adds that Rafe didn’t divulge what that trouble may be but he assumes that’s the reason she is upset. EJ asks if she wants to talk about it. Nicole calls it a long story. EJ says he has nothing but time and offers to join her.

Eric heads downstairs at the Brady Pub, where a customer named Hank is at the bar, telling Eric that the bartender disappeared. Eric apologizes and gets him a scotch on the house. Hank tells him he appreciates it as he has no idea how much he needs it after the day he’s had. Eric remarks that he knows what he means as he looks at the bottle.

Leo jokes that if Alex really wants to impress someone, he should go shirtless with his chest. Alex questions who invited Leo. Sonny shrugs as he resumes playing his video game. Leo responds that he came on his own accord. Alex tells Leo that now he can leave. Leo says he has a proposition for him. Alex tells him no and tells him to go. Leo ignores him and brings out his laptop. Leo tells Alex that what he’s about to show him is going to blow his mind…

Chad and Stephanie work in Paulina’s office. Chad reads Stephanie the article he has typed up about Paulina resolving Chanel’s problems in time to be sworn in as Governor. Stephanie approves it and comments that they are finished up just in time for her to meet Alex. Chad questions her having another date. Stephanie then gets a call from Abe. Stephanie tells him that they are just about to send out the statement, but she’s shocked by what Abe informs her. Stephanie says she’s on it and hangs up. Stephanie then informs Chad that Paulina has been arrested.

Leo asks Alex what he thinks. Alex questions Leo wanting him to hire him as his executive assistant. Alex can’t believe Leo has the nerve to ask him for a job after how he tormented Sonny. Leo tells him that he and Sonny are buds now and put all that behind them. Sonny calls that a work in progress. Leo talks up how he left his position as Paulina’s executive assistant and claims he was instrumental in her winning the election. Alex responds that he already has an assistant and he would never hire Leo. Leo suggests he could be the guy to tell him what shirt to wear and he’d be available to him any time. Sonny jokes that then he could play his video game in peace so it’s a win-win. Alex tells Leo no and then says he has a date to get ready for, so he exits the room.

Eric cleans up at the Pub and stops to look at the bottles of alcohol. Eric looks around and thinks back to arguing with Nicole. Eric then pours a drink.

John tells Marlena that he’s happy for Eric too even though the situation is complicated. Marlena comments that having babies making complicated situations uncomplicated. Rachel finishes her Christmas list and shows John. John reads that Rachel wants a dreamhouse for Susan’s Marlena doll, a real pony, and at the end that Rachel wrote that she what she wants most for Christmas is for her mom and dad to get married.

Brady starts to call Marlena to tell her about Susan, but “Susan” then reveals that she is actually Kristen as she removes her glasses and wig. Brady questions what the hell is wrong with her.

Chad can’t believe Paulina got charged. Stephanie figured there wasn’t enough evidence. Stephanie can’t imagine what Paulina and Chanel are going through now. Chad calls it unfair. Stephanie says that Paulina was just trying to shield her daughter. Chad asks what she wants to do. Stephanie suggests scrapping their statement and starting all over.

Rachel tells John and Marlena that she’s going to be the flower girl when Brady and Kristen get married. Marlena tells her that weddings are not something that Santa Claus can deliver. Rachel questions why not, if Santa is giving Marlena a grandbaby. John tries to explain that when two people get married, it’s up to them, not Santa Claus. Rachel insists that it’s going to happen because Kristen told her that it’s very possible. Marlena doesn’t want Rachel to get disappointed since not all moms and dads get married. Rachel responds that she knows, but her mom and dad will be.

Brady questions Kristen pretending to be Susan. Kristen says she just wanted to see if she could still pull it off. Kristen adds that she was practicing before visiting EJ. Brady questions her planning to visit EJ as his recently deceased mother. Kristen explains that she and EJ are still on the outs since she sided with Gabi over him, so since she can’t console him as his sister, perhaps she could do so as his mother. Brady asks if she’s completely lost her mind.

Nicole informs EJ that Jada had an abortion and Eric blames her. EJ questions that happening over one conversation. Nicole explains that Eric believes she talked Jada in to it and she didn’t think that was her intention, but admits maybe deep down it’s what she really wanted so that Eric and Jada wouldn’t have a bond for the rest of their lives. EJ argues that it’s not like Nicole drove Jada to the clinic and forced her to get the procedure, so in the end, the decision was hers’. Nicole says Eric still thinks she shouldn’t have stuck her nose in ti. EJ argues that Eric has to know that Nicole is not one to keep her opinions to herself. Nicole suggests maybe she should have this time. Nicole calls it ironic since she thought things would be better between her and Eric if there was no baby, but now there’s no baby and things are much worse and she doesn’t think there is any coming back from it.

Eric looks at the drink he poured until Alex walks in and jokes that Eric is looking at the drink like he looks at women. Eric says it’s been awhile and adds that he’s not an alcoholic, he just doesn’t drink anymore. Alex offers to take the drink off his hands, so Eric gives it to him. Alex is glad they got a chance to talk and tells him that the Bella Magazine cover was a massive hit, so he already told Brady that he wants to do more. Alex asks how fast they can get Eric and Nicole back in the studio, but Eric says he doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Alex argues that Bella hasn’t gotten buzz like this in years. Alex wants to continue the momentum because the people are itching to see Eric and Nicole together again. Alex goes on and on about it and remarks that people are calling Eric and Nicole the perfect couple, until Eric then yells at him to shut the hell up.

Leo tells Sonny that he can’t believe Alex turned him down. Sonny encourages that he tried. Leo complains that he doesn’t know what he’s going to do now and guesses his only option is a job at Buddy’s Burger Barn. Sonny says a job is a job. Leo repeats it might be his only option and thanks Sonny for trying to cheer him up. Leo goes to leave but Sonny stops him and says he’s pretty much recovered now so he’s going back to being CEO at Titan and when he does, he will need an assistant. Leo asks what he’s saying. Sonny then asks how Leo feels about working for him at Titan.

Alex asks what Eric’s problem is. Eric tells Alex to get it in his head that he’s a photographer, not a model, so there will be no more covers of he and Nicole. Alex reminds him that he’s not the one who makes decisions. Alex argues that he can go over his head with this since Nicole and Brady are the ones in charge. Eric argues that Nicole would be just as opposed to this as he is and if not, he will quit if he’s forced to. Alex questions what is going on and if something happened between them or if they hooked up.

EJ tells Nicole that emotions are running high and he’s sure when Eric calms down, he will see that Jada’s decision was not Nicole’s fault. Nicole argues that this is no longer just about the baby, but lots of ugly things that were said that neither of them can come back from. Nicole says sometimes you cross a line and there is no going back. EJ says he can relate to that as he crossed a line and now his mom is dead.

Brady tells Kristen that she cannot go over to EJ’s dressed as his deceased mother. Brady says that EJ will see right through it and it would be really cruel. Kristen calls it an act of mercy since Tony said EJ blames himself for Susan’s death, so she could appear as a vision of Susan to ease his mind and assure him that her death wasn’t his fault. Brady didn’t know that was her plan. Brady can’t believe he’s saying this but admits it might be helpful to EJ. Brady calls it surprisingly compassionate of Kristen since EJ just fired her. Kristen points out that EJ is her brother. Brady brings up Kristen using three human lives as bargaining chips and forcing him to break up with Chloe which is only the tip of the iceberg of her criminal activity, so it’s still very surprising to him that she could be that selfless. Kristen admits that she hasn’t behaved honorably lately but she’s not completely evil and calls this a chance to balance the scales a little.

John tells Rachel that no matter what happens with Brady and Kristen, they love her very much. Rachel then puts her headphones on to watch her tablet. John then comments to Marlena about Kristen getting Rachel’s hopes up about something that’s never going to happen. Marlena asks if he’s sure about that. John questions what she’s talking about and argues that she can’t really think that’s on the table. Marlena says they both know how Kristen manipulates people and events, pointing out that she got Brady to break up with Chloe and invite her to live with them, so she questions if Kristen will manipulate Brady into marriage. John responds that if that’s the case, they have to figure out a way to stop her. Marlena agrees and asks how to do that.

Leo can’t believe Sonny would hire him back. Sonny assures he hasn’t forgotten that Leo falsely accused him of sexual harassment but he has forgiven. Leo praises Sonny and says he’s very touched and grateful for his offer. Sonny says he couldn’t care less what people think. Leo asks what about Will and Victor, pointing out that Victor would kill him. Sonny admits Victor would fire him and then they’d both be out of a job. Leo thanks him for the offer and says it means more than he knows that he would consider helping him. Sonny responds that maybe he can help. Sonny tells Leo to open his laptop back up and they will go through the wanted ads.

Chad and Stephanie resume working. Chad asks about Stephanie’s dinner with Alex. Stephanie says she still has some time. Chad guesses things must be going well for them. Stephanie confirms they are and adds that Alex even surprised her with a romantic Thanksgiving dinner that was very sweet. Chad guesses Alex isn’t that bad after all. Stephanie admits that Alex actually turned out to be a really great guy. Chad says he’s happy for her.

Alex guesses that something happened between Eric and Nicole. Eric says it’s none of his business. Alex argues that they are his shining stars. Eric says not anymore and repeats that there’s not going to be any more magazine covers. Eric warns Alex to let it go. Alex reluctantly agrees to do so, but remarks that for a former priest, Eric has some rage issues. Alex decides to go wait on his date on the other side of the Pub. Eric angrily goes back to work and pours another glass of alcohol.

EJ tells Nicole that he was so certain that he could get his mother back without having to pay the ransom, thinking it wouldn’t be hard to outsmart Ava. Nicole says the problem with playing games with Ava is that she’s out of her mind, so it’s impossible to anticipate her next move. EJ guesses Nicole will tell him this isn’t his fault like everyone else. Nicole says no and jokes that maybe it is his fault, just like it’s her fault that Jada got rid of Eric’s baby. EJ says it makes sense since they both have a history of being their own worst enemy with a tendency to self-destruct. Nicole guesses they still haven’t learned their lesson. EJ wonders how the hell they got so screwed up. Nicole calls that the million dollar question.

Brady stops Kristen and tells her that she can’t go see EJ as Susan. Kristen thought he understood. Brady says it seems like her heart is in the right place but warns that EJ will probably figure out it’s her, it will scar him forever, and then EJ will hate her forever so he thinks it’s a terrible idea. Kristen argues that she’d be easing EJ’s suffering and doing something kind. Kristen brings up how she treated Susan for all these years and now that she’s gone, she’ll never get to apologize and thank her for all she did for her. Kristen admits she’s really going to miss her. Brady says it’s okay. Kristen then hugs Brady right as John and Marlena come home with Rachel. John questions what’s going on here.

Chad and Stephanie continue working on putting out a statement. Stephanie says it’s getting there, but still needs work. Chad reminds her about her date with Alex. Stephanie then pulls out her phone and calls Alex, who asks if she’s on her way. Stephanie says she’s really sorry but a work crisis came up so she is stuck at the office. They agree to a rain check. Stephanie thanks him for understanding and says she’ll text him later. Alex wishes her luck as they hang up.

Eric sits on the stairs at the Pub, looking back at the alcohol. Eric then goes back, takes the glass, and drinks it. Eric then declares that he needs to get the hell out of here, so he exits the Pub.

EJ asks Nicole if they should get another round of drinks to wallow in their misery a little bit longer. Nicole says she would love to but she should get going because she needs a place to stay tonight which EJ questions. Nicole explains that she told Rafe that she was moving on with another man so it would have been awkward to stay under the same roof. Nicole admits she’s been staying in her office. EJ asks about Holly. Nicole tells him that she’s staying with Maggie until she finds a suitable place for them which she thought would be with Eric, but he knows how that turned out. EJ asks why she can’t stay with Maggie too. Nicole thinks not with Victor and jokes that someone would either be electrocuted or pushed out a window. Nicole suggests she will probably just check in to the Salem Inn. EJ then invites Nicole to come home with him.

Brady explains to Marlena and John that he and Kristen were just reminiscing about Susan. Rachel asks John to tell her a bedtime story and says she’ll see Kristen when she tucks her in. John and Brady then take Rachel to her bedroom. Kristen tells Marlena that she knows her look and guesses she’s going to bore her with one of her tedious lectures. Marlena says no lecture, but she does think it’s time they have a talk.

Sonny and Leo look through wanted ads. Sonny suggests a Christmas elf but Leo says he hates kids. Sonny asks about Chloe’s old job at Basic Black but Leo says they turned him down once, so he’s not crawling back to them. Sonny points out a book illustrator. Leo feels it’s out of left field. Sonny argues that it’s perfect since Leo loves art and is really good at it. Sonny remembers paintings that Leo showed him before and calls him really talented. Leo decides to put that down as a maybe then.

Stephanie and Chad continue working on a statement. Chad suggests they sleep on it but Stephanie says there’s no time as everyone will know about it by morning, so if they don’t get something out now then they will be behind the curve. Stephanie thinks they need to start over. Chad looks at his watch and says okay. Stephanie tells Chad that she can do this herself and suggests Chad go home and put the kids to bed as she’s got this. Chad says no and decides that Jack can handle the kids as this is too important. Stephanie says she really won’t mind but Chad insists that they’ll get it done in half the time if he stays. Chad says he’s not abandoning ship. Chad points out that Stephanie gave up her date with Alex, so they are in this together. Stephanie thanks Chad and calls him a Godsend as they hug. Alex then walks in with food, only to find Stephanie hugging Chad.

Brady sends Rachel to brush her teeth and says he’ll check for monsters under her bed. John confronts Brady in the hall and says he thinks he’s looking for monsters in the wrong place. John questions what the hell is going on between Brady and Kristen. Brady insists that there’s nothing going on as he was just consoling Kristen about Susan. Brady says he was just trying to be peaceful for Rachel’s sake. Brady promises that there’s no way in hell he’s going to fall for Kristen again as he walks away.

Marlena asks Kristen about her filling Rachel’s head with ideas about her and Brady getting married. Kristen asks what’s wrong with that. Marlena calls it manipulative and setting Rachel up for disappointment. Kristen remarks that she won’t be disappointed if she and Brady actually do get married. Marlena knows Kristen is used to her schemes blowing up in her own face but now she’s involving someone else who could get hurt, so she asks her to please stop. Kristen responds that she’ll take that under advisement. John then calls for Marlena to join him in reading Rachel a bedtime story. Kristen guesses they will have to finish this chat some other time as Marlena exits. Kristen remarks to herself that Marlena was wrong as sometimes her schemes actually do work, like tonight as she wasn’t actually going to visit EJ while dressed as Susan, she just needed to get Brady to see her in a different light and it worked like a charm.

Nicole says absolutely not to going home with EJ and insists that she’s not drunk. EJ says he wasn’t suggesting they do anything, he was just offering her one of their many guest bedrooms. Nicole asks if he’s sure. EJ asks what better use of the guest rooms and assures it’d be no trouble at all. EJ admits he could use the company. Nicole then accepts his offer and starts to get up but stumbles. EJ guesses she is more drunk than she thought. EJ gets up to help Nicole walk right as Eric arrives and sees them together.

Allie sits with Chanel in the interrogation room. Allie tells her that she misses her so much. Chanel points out that at least they got to have Thanksgiving together. Allie says it wasn’t enough as she started missing her as soon as it was over. Allie asks if she’s okay or if she picked a bad time to come. Chanel says there is never a bad time to see her. Allie asks what it is. Chanel responds that it’s just that when she went back to her cell on Thanksgiving, she felt like she’s never getting out.

Paulina is in her office, on the phone saying that all interview requests go to her assistant even if she doesn’t have one anymore. Paulina hangs up as Abe arrives. She says it’s good to see a friendly face. Abe mentions the press are hounding. Paulina complains that she tried to talk policy but all they want to ask about is Chanel. Abe says he’s so sorry. Paulina says that Chanel is all she thinks about but she has had an epiphany about the one way to help Chanel out of this situation. Abe asks if he can help as he’ll do whatever she needs. Paulina is glad because Abe is the only one who can do it which he questions. Paulina declares that it’s simple; she wants Abe to fire Melinda Trask.

Belle confronts Melinda outside of the Brady Pub and complains that she is holding her client without an arraignment or bail hearing and calls it outrageous and unethical. Belle declares that Melinda is not going to get away with it anymore.

Kate goes to Jada’s room. Kate says she knows it’s early to be talking about morning sickness but she wants her to be prepared. Kate brings her some tea that worked for her in all of her pregnancies. Jada calls that very kind of her but responds that she’s not planning on having any morning sickness. Kate insists, so Jada explains that she’s not going to have morning sickness because she’s not going to have a baby. Jada then reveals that she ended her pregnancy.

Eric questions what Nicole said to Jada. Eric demands the truth as he questions if Nicole encouraged Jada to have an abortion. Nicole can’t believe he’s asking that. Eric orders her to answer the question as he asks if Nicole pushed Jada to terminate the pregnancy. Nicole asks if that’s what that bitch told him. Eric tells her to stop trying to make Jada the bad guy. Eric says Jada isn’t accusing her and he’s asking her a question. Nicole argues that Jada is lying about whatever they talked about. Eric says that Nicole questioned why Jada would want to have a baby that would tie her to him forever. Nicole calls that an honest question. Nicole then asks if Jada is suggesting she told her to get an abortion and that Eric believed it. Nicole declares she’s going to settle this and clear things up. Eric stops her and says there’s no point. Nicole argues that she’s not going to let Jada go around telling lies about her. Eric then informs Nicole that it’s too late because Jada had an abortion and the baby is gone.

Kate questions Jada ending her pregnancy. Jada explains that she and Eric were planning to have the baby but she changed her mind. Kate understands if that’s what she wanted to do and says there’s no judgment, she’s just surprised since Jada seemed set at Thanksgiving. Kate asks what happened. Jada responds that the more she thought about it, she was going to be alone and raising the child as a single mother half the time with a full time job and it would be too difficult for her. Jada adds it also meant being tied to Eric.

Abe asks if Paulina is joking about expecting him to fire Melinda Trask so she can’t prosecute Chanel. Paulina says she is dead serious and argues that Sloan is harnessing Melinda’s hatred for her and using it against Chanel. Paulina argues that she can’t do anything about Sloan but a pink slip from Abe would end the threat from Melinda for good. Paulina asks if Abe can make that happen. Abe responds that he’s sorry, but he can’t fire Melinda.

Melinda calls Belle a bit over the top and suggests she tone it down in the court room. Belle argues that Melinda has been holding Chanel in limbo. Melinda says she’s awaiting trial and the court room is a little backed up right now. Belle argues that Chanel has a right to a fair and speedy trial and this alleged crime didn’t even happen in this country. Melinda says she has been working closely with their government and complains about Chanel keeping this cover up going. Belle accuses Melinda of just using this to feast on the publicity of prosecuting the Governor’s daughter. Melinda argues that a woman is dead and the Governor elect might be involved. Melinda asks if Belle just tracked her down to whine about it and then says she’s late for lunch. Belle then stands in her way.

Allie wants to do more for Chanel and assures her that she won’t be there forever. Chanel argues that she doesn’t know that. Allie assures that they will do everything they can to get her out of this. Shawn enters and announces that Chanel has another visitor. Sloan arrives and Allie questions what she is doing here. Allie questions her being allowed in here. Shawn says it’s up to Chanel. Allie suggests Chanel tell her to go because she doesn’t owe her anything but Chanel agrees to hear what Sloan has to say, so Shawn exits. Sloan remarks that Chanel slept with her father and murdered her mother but they’ve never been formally introduced. Sloan then introduces herself to Chanel as her worst nightmare. Allie argues that Chanel didn’t murder anybody and what happened was an accident. Sloan disagrees. Allie says she knows the full story and that Sloan’s mother fell so she can just leave her alone. Sloan argues that she and Chanel know the real truth about what happened. Chanel asks why she is here. Sloan responds that she needed to see if Chanel would lie to her face about what happened that night. Chanel responds that she’s sorry for her loss and she would give anything to take back what happened, but it’s way more complicated than she thinks. Sloan mentions reading the initial police report that Chanel told authorities that night that it was her fault, but then claimed it was an accident. Chanel argues that her words were misinterpreted. Sloan brings up Paulina sure working hard to cover it up. Sloan says her mother would have fought for her like that too until Chanel took her away.

Paulina argues that Abe does the hiring and firing of the district attorney. Abe admits that technically he can, but questions who he would replace Melinda with. Paulina suggests Belle. Abe questions wanting to rig Chanel’s case by hiring her own lawyer to prosecute her. Paulina admits that sounds bad and suggests finding someone else. Paulina just wants him to get rid of Melinda before she can do any more to hurt Chanel.

Melinda asks Belle to move out of her way. Belle tells her that her lunch is going to have to wait. Melinda doesn’t know what she expects as she has said everything she has to say. Belle asks if this is really the hill she wants to die on by punishing a young woman for an accident that happened years ago in another country. Melinda says the British government has asked them to make sure Chanel doesn’t leave the country. Belle accuses Melinda of purposely postponing the court date. Melinda remarks that it looks like Belle figured out but there’s not much she can do about it. Belle then presents Melinda with a folder.

Kate asks if Jada is alright. Jada claims she’s fine. Kate says it’s okay not to be. Jada responds that she won’t cry over Eric or her decision as she’s convinced it’s what she needed to do. Kate asks if Eric tried to stop her from terminating the pregnancy. Jada admits she didn’t give him the chance and just told him after it already happened. Kate asks how Eric reacted.

Nicole questions if Eric thinks Jada’s abortion is her fault. Eric accuses Nicole of confronting Jada. Nicole claims she just talked to her and that’s all and she didn’t talk to her about doing this. Nicole adds that Jada didn’t even mention considering it. Eric suggests that Jada wasn’t considering it until after their conversation. Nicole argues that abortion wasn’t part of the conversation and they didn’t even discuss it as a possibility. Nicole asks if he tried talking her out of it. Eric reveals that she had already done it by the time she told him, so she never consulted him and Nicole was the last person she talked to before making the decision. Nicole swears that she did not put that in her head. Eric angrily questions why she even spoke to her when this pregnancy was none of her damn business.

Belle’s folder to Melinda reveals Melinda is being ordered to appear in court to justify her reasons for holding Chanel indefinitely. Belle adds that will be in front of an impartial judge because Chanel has constitutional rights, so Melinda has to explain why she took them all away. Melinda remarks that Belle thinks she’s so smart. Belle argues that she’s doing what is right for her client and declares that Chanel will make bail today. Belle then sarcastically offers Melinda a ride to the courthouse.

Chanel tells Sloan that she would give anything for her mother to be alive because she didn’t deserve what happened to her. Sloan asks which part since her assault on her didn’t start on the roof, but the first day that Chanel hooked up with her father. Sloan asks if Chanel even cared that he was married. Chanel says she did, but he didn’t seem to, so she tried to put it out of her head. Chanel states that she was really young and it just happened. Sloan argues that Chanel made it happen. Allie disagrees, pointing out that Sloan’s father was the adult in the situation. Sloan warns Allie to stay out of this. Chanel insists that he pursued her. Sloan mocks her being innocent and argues that Chanel wasn’t a child. Chanel says she was in college and she’s not proud of the affair, but he was the married one. Sloan questions why she kept doing it if she knew it was wrong. Chanel admits she doesn’t know. Sloan continues to question her and tells her not to play innocent like she didn’t want it. Allie yells at Sloan to stop it and leave her alone.

Nicole questions if Eric is really asking how this is any of her business. Nicole argues that they are together and this isn’t some minor issue. Nicole brings up how she felt when she showed up on Thanksgiving and heard Eric announce that he and Jada were going to raise the baby together while he told her after, so she was the last to know. Eric argues that he didn’t know she already knew and accuses her of spying on them on Thanksgiving. Nicole argues that she came to see him and didn’t expect to see them celebrating that Jada was having his baby. Nicole complains they didn’t look like a couple that had broken up, but like a couple getting back together, so she wanted to find out what was going on. Eric questions her not coming to him with that. Nicole asks if he really wants to do this. Nicole brings up Eric happening to run in to her in the town square that night and that’s when he told her that Jada was keeping the baby. Nicole questions when Eric would have told her if she hadn’t been there.

Jada tells Kate that Eric was surprised as he wanted to be part of the decision. Kate questions why he wasn’t. Jada admits she was afraid that Eric was going to talk her out of it and it’s a lot cleaner this way. Kate is very sorry that she had to go through it alone. Jada responds that she’s used to being on her own. Kate asks if she talked to anyone else before making the choice. Jada reveals that she did talk to one person, but it’s the last person she would consider a friend.

Eric tells Nicole that the decision to have the baby was between Jada and him. Nicole complains that they included everyone at the Thanksgiving table, just not her. Eric argues that it just happened. Nicole admits that she thought she was losing him, so she wanted to find out what Jada’s intentions were and asked if she was ready for the baby to be tied to her and Eric forever, even though he was with her. Eric asks if that’s all she said or asked of her. Nicole admits she talked to Jada about what it’s like to be a single parent and she didn’t sugarcoat it. Nicole claims she didn’t do it to scare her off. Eric says that Jada said Nicole gave her a friendly reminder that she isn’t going anywhere. Nicole asks if that’s not true and says she was just being honest. Eric argues that Nicole isn’t being honest now by saying that she said all this in innocence to a woman who was conflicted about having the baby. Nicole argues that she didn’t know Jada was conflicted and that she’s not pretending anything. Eric says that Nicole obviously knew her words could sway Jada’s decision in getting rid of the child. Eric guesses that Nicole got exactly what she wanted.

Kate hopes Nicole didn’t pressure Jada in to getting an abortion. Jada says she didn’t, but Nicole did paint a pretty harsh picture of what being a single mother would be like. Kate guesses that helped make her decision. Jada says it helped her to re-evaluate the pros and cons. Jada mentions having friends that say having a child is the best thing to ever happen to them and one day she would love to be a mother, just not like this and not now.

Nicole questions Eric actually thinking that she went to talk to Jada to scare her in to having an abortion. Eric asks what else he’s supposed to think when she was the last one to talk to her before she made the decision. Eric shouts that actions have consequences but Nicole never learns. Nicole asks what that means. Eric argues that over and over, Nicole acts compulsively without thinking. Nicole asks if he’s talking about her jumping in to bed with Xander. Eric questions her even bringing him up. Nicole thinks Eric assumes she pushed Jada to her choice because deep down, he still doesn’t trust her. Nicole complains that she’ll never be good enough for him. Eric tells her to stop with the self pity. Nicole argues that she’s feeling guilty. Nicole then admits that she was feeling threatened by Jada and was hoping that she wouldn’t keep the baby. Nicole declares that she said it and asks if Eric is satisfied now.

Abe tells Paulina that he would do anything for her and Chanel. Paulina tells him to fire Melinda then. Abe responds that he would do it if he thought it would make things better for Chanel. Paulina argues that Melinda would send Chanel to prison for life if they let her and she can’t let that happen. Abe promises they won’t, but if he fired Melinda, the press would be all over it and her and the city council would impeach him. Abe adds that politicians have been sent to prison for less. Abe worries that trying to help Chanel in this way would put them in a cell right next to her.

Sloan remarks that maybe if Chanel figured out she liked girls sooner, her mother would still be alive. Chanel asks what she wants her to say since she’s already admitted that she shouldn’t have had the affair, but that doesn’t change the fact that Sloan’s father had all the power in their relationship. Chanel adds that all of Sloan’s anger and bitterness isn’t going to change that. Sloan brings up finding out that her mother’s suicide was a murder. Chanel is sorry that she had to find out how she did. Sloan asks if she ever thought about her and her brother when she moved on her with her life. Allie tells Sloan to leave her alone but Sloan demands an answer as she asks if Chanel ever thought what it felt like for them to watch their father drink himself to death because he was holding onto this secret that he didn’t reveal to them until he was on his deathbed. Chanel repeats that she’s sorry. Sloan says she heard her the first time and remarks that Chanel sure had enough power to destroy her life.

Paulina agrees with Abe that they can’t fire Melinda but says they can’t just let them roll over Chanel. Abe tells her to trust and believe that he will fight for Chanel every step of the way and he will not stop fighting for her daughter. Abe adds that Belle won’t either and she’s the smartest lawyer he knows. Abe declares that if anyone can outfox Melinda, it’s Belle.

Belle goes to the police station and tells Shawn that she needs to speak to Chanel, so she asks him to bring her up. Shawn reveals that Chanel is already in the interrogation room, so Belle asks if she has visitors. Shawn confirms that Allie came to see her and then Sloan showed up. Belle questions Sloan being in there and Shawn leaving them alone. Shawn says that Chanel agreed to talk to her so his hands were tied. Shawn asks if there’s something going on. Belle says you could say that.

Allie decides that Sloan has said what she needed to say, so now it’s her turn. Sloan tells her that she doesn’t have a say but Allie disagrees. Allie says she can see Sloan’s pain and that it hurts, but Chanel has a life and a future. Allie says that Chanel has made mistakes but she’s worked to become a better person. Allie asks if this is even about Sloan’s mother anymore. Allie points out that when Sloan first got to town, she didn’t confront Chanel or ask for an apology, she wanted the money. Sloan argues that Allie doesn’t know her and says she is owed revenge. Shawn opens the door, so Allie hopes that means Sloan’s time is up because all she did was harass Chanel and try to make her feel more punished than she already is. Belle then enters the room and announces Chanel is going home as she made bail which thrills Chanel and Allie while angering Sloan.

Nicole tells Eric that she is being honest and she’s sorry that she went to Jada without him knowing, but she’s not sorry for wishing they could avoid a huge complication in getting back together. Eric brings up Nicole seeing him at Thanksgiving dinner and that he was happy. Eric states that part of that was because of getting back with her but part of that was because he was going to be a father. Eric says Nicole knows how much that means to him and he hoped it would mean something to her as well. Nicole says they were both so surprised by learning that Jada was pregnant and they had just decided to get back together. Eric talks about how they can’t always plan what’s going to happen in life, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t want it. Nicole then brings up that she couldn’t give Eric the baby he always wanted.

Jada tells Kate that someday she will have a child, but it’s too bad Eric won’t be the father because he would’ve been great. Jada admits that even though she’s mad at him, Eric is still a hell of a guy. Kate agrees and says she’s sorry she got hurt. Kate asks what’s next. Jada says she will focus on her job and figure out what she wants in life, then work on making that happen. Kate feels Jada will do just fine. Jada responds that she’s used to taking care of herself. Kate can relate but says it’s nice to have someone in your life too. Jada remarks that it was nice while it lasted.

Nicole asks Eric if he wasn’t going to say how grateful he was that Jada could give him a child of his own when she’s not able to. Eric questions her thinking he would say something so hurtful. Nicole argues that a few minutes ago, he was willing to think that she talked Jada in to ending her pregnancy and didn’t care about that hurting her. Nicole knows how much Eric wants to be a father, but he chose someone who can’t make that happen. Eric tells her that he was satisfied helping her raise Holly. Nicole argues that once he found out Jada’s news, he got so swept up that he forgot she even existed. Eric disagrees and insists that Nicole is part of this dream. Nicole questions that since he didn’t call her over to include her in the plan or even mention her in the big announcement. Nicole complains that he didn’t mention her at all, so she questions how the hell she could be part of his dream.

Allie and Chanel come out of the interrogation room where Abe and Paulina are waiting at the station. Chanel hugs Paulina, exclaiming that she made bail. Sloan watches on in disgust. Paulina says they heard as Belle called and told them to come right over. Abe tells Belle that he told her she could do it. Belle calls it a bit of a Hail Mary, but it worked. Allie says she’s so happy for Chanel while Paulina thanks Belle. Chanel asks how Belle did it. Belle explains that she had to force Melinda to appear in front of a judge and prove there was no case to hold her without bail. Abe praises Belle. Belle says they still have a long way to go. Paulina asks what to do now. Shawn responds that as soon as she pays the bail, Chanel is free to go. Paulina declares that Chanel needs to come home but Melinda arrives and says not so fast. Paulina tells Melinda to stay away from Chanel as they have had enough of her games. Abe declares that the judge has ruled. Melinda says she has but this isn’t about Chanel. Melinda then hands Shawn a piece of paper and tells him to do his duty which they all question. Melinda explains that Chanel has been granted bail but her murder charge is not the only crime stemming from this incident. Melinda brings up the cover up that followed, masterminded by Paulina. Shawn declares that he’s sorry to do this, but he arrests Paulina for criminal conspiracy and obstruction of justice. Shawn reads Paulina her rights as he handcuffs her, leaving Abe, Allie, and Chanel in shock while Sloan watches with a smile.

Kate knows Jada prides herself on being independent and not needing anyone, but she hopes they can remain friends because she really likes her. Jada says she feels the same about her. Kate feels it’s important and jokes that with her history, she could use a friend in the police department. Jada mentions hearing some stories about her. Kate says they are true but she shouldn’t believe them. Kate asks if there’s anything else she can get her. Jada thinks she just needs some rest. Kate tells her to call her. Jada says she just feels really tired right now. Kate thinks it’s all catching up with her. Jada says even though she knows she did what was right for her, it still doesn’t make it any easier. Jada then breaks down crying as Kate hugs her.

Eric apologizes to Nicole as he never meant to make her feel like she didn’t matter. Nicole says he can’t help it. Nicole feels that Jada ended her pregnancy without telling him, but he can’t be mad at Jada so he had to take it out on her because she’s an easy target. Nicole says after Xander and all the other mistakes she’s made, this is just one more way to disappoint him. Eric stops her and says this isn’t about them not being able to have a baby together. Eric says it’s about what she did by going to Jada which broke a trust that can’t be undone. Eric declares that they can’t go back because Jada’s baby is gone now and he has to find a way to live with that. Nicole asks if he means live without being a father or live with her role in it. Eric guesses it’s both. Nicole cries that he can’t just say something like that and walk away. Nicole asks what now and where they go from here. Eric responds that he doesn’t know and then exits the office. Nicole sits down and begins to cry.
