Shawn told Belle about his promotion. She was concerned about him being the new commissioner. He said the acting mayor didn’t give him a choice because he wasn’t going to let him be a detective again if he didn’t take the job. She said he would make a great commissioner. Rafe and Jada talked about Shawn being commissioner. He said he didn’t like it, but there was nothing he could do about it. He said he had to move on. She said she was more qualified for the job than Shawn. Rafe said she was right. They talked about her old job and what led her to come to Salem. She said she had to go to work for someone who was a drunk. Shawn and Belle were behind her.

John saw Brady packing up Rachel’s things so he could take her to the DiMera mansion. He told John about his frustrations over the judge granting Kristen joint custody. John told him about going on the run with Rachel. Brady denied taking her on the run. John said he had software that notified him anytime unusual activity went on in the apartment. Brady admitted to taking Rachel on the run. John tried to talk him out of it. Brady left the apartment. Kristen and EJ talked about their good news. Chad brought the kids over for a sleepover with Rachel. Chad and EJ talked to each other. Kristen took the kids so they could see the new room she set up. Chad thanked EJ for his advice about Alex. Chad told him that the advice worked. Kristen overheard them talking. She said the plan didn’t make sense. She warned Chad that it was going to blow up in his face. Chad ended up leaving. Kristen was worried when Brady was late bringing Rachel to the mansion. She was upset and called Belle. She told Belle to call the judge and the police. Kristen heard Rachel call out to her. Kristen and Rachel hugged each other while Brady watched.

Talia had a session with Marlena. She admitted that she had feelings for Chanel. She didn’t think she deserved to be happy after what she did. Marlena told her that sounded like Colin talking. She said he had power over her because of that, but she was taking it back. Talia didn’t think it was a good idea to start a relationship so soon. Marlena agreed, but she didn’t think she should repress her feelings. Kayla quizzed Abe with the flashcards. Paulina showed up. She pushed by Kayla and asked Abe if he could be a good mayor. She told him what Rawlings did to Chanel. She pleaded with him to help her daughter. Kayla and Paulina argued over her pushing Abe to soon. He stopped them and said he would do it. He felt like being the mayor would give him purpose and might help with his memory. He promised Kayla that he would be back if it’s too soon. He wanted to try and help his stepdaughter. Paulina hugged Abe while Kayla looked worried.

Ava apologized to Harris and assured him that she was feeling better. She talked to him about what happened with Charlie. She told him that her visions of her dead son were gone. She tried to get off her medication, but she didn’t want to try it again. She said her therapist told her that her guilty conscience was why she had hallucination. He wanted to know more about her, and she told him. She cried as she thought about the lives she took. Harris said that he understood how she felt. Harris told her about his story. He let her know that he asked to be committed. He thought he was invincible. Ava let him know that no one is invincible. Harris wanted to know how long it had been since she talked to Tripp. She hadn’t seen him in months because she attacked him the last time she saw him. She was afraid that it would happen again. He thought she should reach out to him. She thanked him for what he said. He left for his session and Tripp showed up.

Sarah was surprised to see Maggie in her apartment. Maggie told Sarah that she knew what she was hiding. Sarah was scared until Maggie told her she knew that she was dating Rex and was keeping it from her. Sarah tried to go with Maggie’s theory so she wouldn’t lie to her. Maggie told her to put the grocery bag down so they could talk. When Sarah put the bag down, Maggie found out Sarah was pregnant. Maggie thought the baby was Rex’s until she realized it could be Xander’s. Maggie noticed the look on Sarah’s face. Maggie thought it was Xander’s baby and Sarah knows that it’s his. Sarah tried to tell her why she was keeping the baby a secret from Xander, but Maggie said it wasn’t a good idea. Sarah said he couldn’t know the truth. She asked Maggie not to tell him. Maggie agreed to keep the secret. She told Sarah that he has moved on with Chloe. Gwen knocked on Leo’s door. She wanted to come inside. Leo and Dimitri panicked. Gwen kept knocking on the door. Leo answered the door in a towel. He told her he was busy but she came in the room. She was surprised to see his bed being messy. He said that was why he didn’t want to let her in the room. She told him she wanted to tell him goodbye. They said they were going to miss each other. Gwen heard a noise in the bathroom and realized Leo wasn’t alone. She thought the man he was texting was in the bathroom. She said she wanted to meet him, but Leo didn’t want her to. He said the guy is married. He said he didn’t want his lover’s wife to find out. He told her he felt guilty. She comforted him and told him he deserved happiness. She said she hoped he would find someone like Dimitri.

Chloe was shocked that Xander was proposing to her. She thought it had something to do with Gwen getting married. He said it didn’t. He said he saw Gwen and told her he was happy for her. He said he told Maggie that he has moved on when she told him Sarah was with Rex. Chloe told him she couldn’t marry him. She said it was too soon. She thought he was being reactionary. He tried to convince her to marry him. He said he was proposing to her because he loved her and wanted to have a life with her. She said she needed to think about it. Eric asked Sloan and Melinda what secret they were keeping from him. Melinda told him Sloan talked to the judge in Colin’s case without her present which wasn’t allowed, but Melinda wasn’t going to say anything. He thanked Melinda for her discretion. Sloan walked Melinda out. Sloan told her she wouldn’t say anything. When Sloan went back in the apartment, she saw Eric on his knees. He asked her to marry him. She accepted his proposal. Nicole told EJ that Eric was going to propose to Sloan. EJ proposed to Nicole. She thought he was proposing because Eric was proposing to Sloan. EJ pulled a ring out of the drawer. He said he was waiting for the right moment to propose to her. She accepted his proposal.

Marlena went to Bayview to check on Harris. They are both surprised when they see Ava. Ava confronted him and accused him of being there for her. Harris was confused and Marlena wanted to find Ava’s doctor. Ava thought Harris was her dead son Charlie. She yelled at him so a nurse arrived and sedated her. Marlena returned and asked Harris if he was okay. He couldn’t get over the fact that Ava seemed like she knew him. Marlena left to go to the hospital. He sat down and Ava approached him. Shawn arrived at the police station and told Jada that his suspension was done. He wanted to know how he had to talk to about it. She didn’t know because no one was given Rafe’s job yet. The acting mayor was thrilled to see Shawn. He thought Rafe suspended him because he told on him. Shawn told him that he was drinking on the job. He promised not to do it again. The acting mayor took his word for it. He said he had to replace Rafe. Shawn suggested he give the job to Jada, but he gave the job to him instead.

Kayla brought Abe lunch. He thought she was an actress on Body & Soul, but he remembered who she was. They talked about him staying at her place. She told him that he could stay as long as he needed to do it. He was afraid that he hurt Paulina by leaving, but she assured him that she understood. She showed him flashcards that she made up for him. She made the cards of his family and friends. She wanted to quiz him on the flashcards. Chanel went home and saw Paulina watching TV. She told Chanel what happened with Abe. Chanel tried to comfort her. She told her mother about her dinner with Talia. She admitted that she still had feelings for Talia. Chanel got a call that her bakery was shut down by the city again. They went to the town square and saw the acting mayor. He let them know that he did it based on a technicality. Chanel was upset, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it.

Tripp thought about Leo barging in on him and Wendy at the Salem Inn. Leo told him he was upset about his best friend marrying his boyfriend. Gwen wanted to celebrate Dimitri’s birthday by having birthday sex. Maggie invited Xander over to the Kiriakis mansion. He thought she wanted him to reconsider taking the job. Chloe and Nicole met for breakfast. They ended up talking about Eric and Sloan. Chloe wondered why Nicole cared about Eric and Sloan when she was happy with EJ and having a baby with him. Melinda showed up to talk to Sloan. Melinda told Sloan about her conversation with Nicole. Melinda asked her about the genetic testing. When Nicole walked away from the table Eric showed up and talked to Chloe. She noticed that he went shopping. He asked her about the ring he got for Sloan. Chloe asked if he was going to propose to Sloan. When Nicole came back, she wasn’t happy about Eric proposing to Sloan. Maggie told Xander that she wanted him to make amends with Victor. Xander didn’t want to do it. She said Victor was getting older and his health wasn’t that good. She said they needed to fix things before it was too late.

While Gwen was trying to please Dimitri, he thought of Leo. He kissed her to get Leo out of his head. Tripp asked Leo about calling Dimitri his boyfriend. Leo got out of it by saying Dimitri was an unrequited crush. He said he was fantasizing about Dimitri and confused reality with fantasy. Melinda wanted Sloan to tell her the truth about why she had Nicole’s test results. Sloan told her Eric was the father of Nicole’s baby. Eric told Nicole that he loved Sloan and wanted to marry her. He left. Xander agreed to make amends with Victor. Maggie told him she was going to Chicago to see Sarah. She said Sarah was in a relationship with Rex. Xander told her that he has moved on with Chloe. When Tripp left, Dimitri went to check on Leo. Dimitri apologized for the way he treated him. He said he missed Leo. Gwen ran into Xander. She told him she was taking time off for her honeymoon. He told her he wanted her to be happy. Nicole talked to Chloe about her feelings about Eric and Sloan getting married. Nicole said she was over Eric. She said it was weird to see him move on. Sloan told Melinda that she swabbed her cheek instead of Eric’s. She said Eric couldn’t find out that he is the father of Nicole’s baby because she would lose him. She asked Melinda if she was going to use it against her. While Dimitri and Leo were in bed, Gwen showed up to check on him. When Xander went home, he found Chloe working. She told him about Eric and Sloan getting married. He showed her an engagement ring. He asked Chloe to marry him. Melinda told Sloan that her secret was safe with her. Eric walked in the apartment.

Eric apologized to Sloan for questioning her about Nicole’s paternity test results. He wanted to focus on their baby. They talked about Roman’s reaction to her pregnancy. He assured her their baby would be loved. She reminded him that they weren’t married and wanted to know why he assumed the baby would have his last name. Eric thought they should be married. Sloan wanted to know if he was proposing to her. He said he was proposing and wanted to know her answer. She wasn’t happy about it and turned him down. He wanted to know why she turned him down. She wanted the proposal to be more romantic. Melinda and Nicole ran into each other and talked about Sloan and her pregnancy. Nicole didn’t care and didn’t want to talk about her. She did tell Melinda about the mix up with the test results, but chalks it up to an innocent mistake. After Nicole left, Melinda thought about her conversation with Sloan. She wasn’t so sure the mistake was innocent. Melinda left a message for Sloan to meet for lunch.

Chad brought cigars for EJ to celebrate Nicole’s pregnancy. They talked about Chad’s problems with Alex. EJ advised him to think of what their dad would do and take a stand with Alex. Chad appreciated his advice. He was determined to follow it. Chad left just as Nicole arrived. She told him about her conversation with Melinda. She thought Melinda was trying to live through them since she was lonely. Alex brought Chinese food for Stephanie and Chad to thank them for letting him go with them to the pub. She thanked him for the food and offered him a beer. He told her about his date with Melinda. She left to check on the kids just as Chad came home. Chad put Alex on notice about being around Stephanie. He let him know that he’s not welcomed there. Alex got the message. Stephanie invited him for dinner, but Alex said he had to work. She was confused when Alex left. Chad pretended to be confused too. Marlena gave Harris a tour of Bayview. After she left, he was approached by Eve. They were shocked to see each other. They talked and he apologized for the way he treated her in high school. She accepted his apology and they talked about how they ended up there. Roman and Kate talked about Sloan’s pregnancy. She thought he should give Sloan another chance. She compared Sloan to her. He felt that things were different with her. He told her that they trust each other. She felt bad because of the secret she’s keeping. Roman picked up on it and wanted to know what she was hiding. She confessed that she hired Harris to kill Megan for her, but he turned her down. They talked about it and he was shocked that Kayla knew about it. He understood and still loved her.

Chanel ran into Talia when she was leaving Sweet Bits. Talia was crying. She said she went to the courthouse for Colin’s trial. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. She said Colin told her she was just as guilty as he was and should be going to prison too. Chanel said he was wrong. She said even thought Talia made mistakes she wasn’t like him. She said Talia didn’t belong in prison. Talia asked if Chanel could buy her dinner. She said she missed Chanel and their friendship. Chanel said she missed Talia and agreed to go with her. Eric and Nicole ran into each other at the pub. He said Sloan told him the good news about the test results. He said he was happy for her and EJ. Nicole said she was confused as to how Sloan got her test results. He said Sloan didn’t tell him how she ended up with her test results. She asked him about the test results for his baby. He said the results weren’t in yet. Nicole said she didn’t understand how Sloan ended up with her test results if Sloan’s weren’t ready yet.

Paulina brought Abe home, but he didn’t remember anything. She told him she was going to be patient with him. She said she made all of his favorite foods. He said he wasn’t hungry. She suggested they watch a movie. She kissed him. He wasn’t happy about her kissing him. She said she was trying to get him to remember something. Steve showed up. Abe asked him if he could stay with him because he wasn’t comfortable at Paulina’s place. She was upset about it. Steve agreed to let him stay. Nicole showed up at Paulina’s to see Abe. Paulina told her Abe moved out. Melinda comforted Sloan about Colin’s sentence. Melinda would have bought her a drink, but she had plans. Sloan asked if she was going on another date. Melinda told her about her date with Alex. She said she was going out with Li again. Sloan was about to tell her about changing Nicole’s test results when Eric called her. He told her they needed to talk. Melinda wanted to know what she was going to say, but Sloan said it was nothing. Sloan went home and met Eric. He comforted her about Colin’s sentence. He asked her why she didn’t tell him he got Nicole’s test results. She tried to say it was a mistake, but he wanted answers. She said he knew how worried she had been. She said his questions were upsetting her. He apologized to her.
