Recap written by Christine

Sally ran into Victoria at Crimson Lights and asked if they could speak. Victoria invited Sally to sit. Sally shared some ideas she and Adam had for Newman Media. “Interesting,” Victoria replied. Sally noted that the word had a lot of meanings. She asked if Victoria thought she wouldn’t have any original or thoughtful ideas. Victoria thought Sally was making a lot of assumptions for someone who barely knew her. Sally felt that she had a firm grasp of the situation, and she believed Victoria expected her to fail. Victoria said she wasn’t sure what Sally would be bringing to the table, given her lack of background. Sally said she wasn’t new to running a business. Victoria made it known that, while didn’t think Sally was the obvious candidate for the position, she never questioned Adam on his choice. Sally suspected that was a calculated decision on Victoria’s part. She thought Victoria probably assumed Victor would fire Sally and punish Adam, but that wasn’t what happened. Sally wasn’t operating under any illusions, and in Victoria’s shoes, she’d be skeptical too. Victoria said Sally designed a beautiful wedding gown, but Victoria was uncertain of Sally’s skill set. Sally was used to being underappreciated, and she liked proving people wrong about her. Victoria thought it was clear that Sally won over Adam quickly at Newman Media and that Sally was confident about her abilities. Victoria said Sally had to do more than talk a good game. Sally said she could back it up, and she’d pour herself into making Newman Media a success. Sally was just as determined as Adam – they were a match made in heaven, professionally speaking. Victoria sensed that Adam and Sally might be personally involved.

Sally said any relationship she had with Adam was none of Victoria’s business. Sally said she and Adam were doing the best work they could, and if there was anything going on between them, it was no different than the dynamic between Victoria and Ashland. Victoria said that there was a difference – she and Ashland were married. Sally meant that she and Adam were equals, like Victoria and Ashland. Victoria didn’t agree. She said Adam had years of experience, and Sally was a neophyte. Sally said she and Adam’s dedication to the company was the same. Victoria asked if Adam considered Sally an equal partner or if that was just Sally’s perception. Sally asked what Victoria was implying. Victoria wasn’t concerned, just curious. Victoria had a meeting to go to, so she left.

At Newman Media, Adam told Victor that he wasn’t going to spy on Ashland for him. Victor noted that yesterday, Adam said he wouldn’t mind observing Ashland. Adam said he never actually agreed to spy on Ashland, though he admitted he gave Victor the impression that he would. Adam didn’t want to get wrapped up in a no-win situation with Victor, Victoria and Ashland. Adam wanted to focus on running the company Victor funded for him and sold to Newman Locke because Adam disappointed him. Victor said he had his reasons for that, but he wouldn’t have kept Adam at Newman Media if he didn’t trust his abilities. “My issue is that you will not let me do my job because you suddenly don’t trust Ashland,” Adam said. Victor had his reasons. Adam knew Victor had a theory that Ashland was faking his condition and treatment. Victor said Ashland couldn’t be trusted about the cancer, his marriage to Victoria or the merger. Adam thought Victor wanted him to feel honored that Victor wanted him to do this. Victor was insistent that Ashland was a threat to the Newman family. Adam noted that Locke was family. Victor countered that Ashland wasn’t a Newman, and the Newmans needed to protect their own. Victor asked if Adam was too arrogant to care.

Victor said he’d given Adam multiple opportunities and brought him into the family fold. However, Victor said that Adam had never taken a real step to be included in the family. Adam didn’t see how committing espionage against Victoria’s husband would make him part of the gang. Adam asked what his sister would think when she found out her relatives were digging into Ashland’s past again. Victor said Ashland was a danger to the Newman empire. Adam told Victor to find someone else to do his dirty work. Victor said Adam was the only one who could help, and if he gave a damn about Newman Media, he would. Adam understood why Victor wanted to pursue his questions about Ashland. However, Adam didn’t think Victor should’ve dragged him into it. Adam was working hard to prove he’d change his life and that he was worthy of respect. Just when Adam thought he succeeded, Victor put him through another test. Victor said this wasn’t a test. “It feels like if I don’t follow orders that I’m a failure. That I’m a traitor to the family. By family I mean you. So if that is the game, I’m not playing,” Adam said. “Maybe I made a mistake believing in you,” Victor said. Victor thought Adam was being arrogant and disrespectful. Adam said in that case, they were finished here. Adam left.

Sally sent Adam a message to meet her at a hotel room, and he did. She said she ran into Victoria. Sally explained that she acknowledged Victoria wasn’t happy she was named COO, but Sally was determined to prove she belonged by making the company bigger and stronger than anyone ever imagined. He was impressed by the way she stood up for herself. He said she excelled at fighting for what she wanted. Sally let Adam know that Victoria asked if he and Sally were seeing each other. Sally thought Adam should be aware. He said he could handle Victoria. Adam said he couldn’t sleep last night because he was thinking about Sally saying he needed to stop playing games and look out for himself. Adam said he invited Victor to his office this morning to talk. He suddenly paused and said he thought he may have overplayed his hand with his father.

Adam said he refused to spy on Ashland, and he’d insisted that he get to do his job without any more hoops or loyalty tests. He’d threatened to leave the company for good. He shared that Victor called him selfish, disloyal and arrogant. Sally suggested that Victor was just lashing out, but Adam was sure Victor meant every word, or at least he did when he said it. Adam said Victor hated being challenged, especially by the family. Adam wasn’t sure what Victor would do next. Sally told Adam that he wasn’t acting like himself. He said that run ins with his father could have this effect on him. The Adam Sally knew was never nervous or filled with self doubt. He wasn’t sure if she was trying to compliment him or if she thought he was a robot. She had intimate knowledge of how human he was. She said he could turn any situation to his advantage, even those that involved Victor Newman. She said Victor was a titan, and he respected strength. She thought that Victor would come to his senses and admire Adam for standing up to him. Adam wasn’t sure about that, but he was glad Sally believed that and that she believed in him. They kissed.

Nate dropped by Lily’s to get advice on his career dilemma. He revealed he was thinking of stepping down as Chief of Surgery and going to work for Newman Locke. He didn’t have the same passion for being a doctor after his injury. Lily said life was too short, and you had to find your passion. She suggested that he come work with her at Chancellor instead. He asked what he’d do, and she said they could figure it out together. She didn’t mean to disparage Ashland’s offer, but things were complicated with the Newman family and the dynamics were constantly changing. He said he had a lot of experience navigating those waters. She asked why he’d want to waste energy doing that when he could come work with her, his cousin.

Billy ran into Ashland at Society. Billy thought Ashland looked like a villain in a movie plotting world domination, or maybe he was plotting the next move at Newman Locke. Billy heard Ashland’s medical situation was improving, and it made Billy think Ashland was itching to get more control at his wife’s company. Ashland would’ve thought Billy would be busy with work, assisting his girlfriend, instead of wasting time making baseless accusations. Billy said Ashland built an empire and ran it by himself, so Billy found it hard to believe Ashland was happy being an advisor to Victoria. Billy said Victoria waited her entire life waiting to get control of Newman, and Ashland threw a wrench in her plans by sticking around longer than she expected. Ashland laughed. He thought Billy was trying to shock him with macabre humor, but it didn’t work. He thought Billy had a bitter view of marriage because of his sordid history. Billy wasn’t against marriage, but he didn’t like Ashland’s marriage. Billy didn’t trust Ashland, and he didn’t like what Ashland would do with Victoria. Ashland thought it must be hard for Billy seeing Victoria happy with a man who was worthy of her and knowing Billy blew his chance. Billy said he and Victoria both moved on. Ashland thought Billy should stop trying to convince Victoria she knew what was best. However, Ashland knew Billy wouldn’t listen, so he told Billy to keep going and see how that worked out.

Billy said not to worry about him. Ashland wasn’t worried about Billy, he was worried about Lily. Billy said Lily was great. Ashland wondered if Lily wasn’t concerned about Billy’s continuing interest in Victoria’s marriage. Billy said his relationship with Lily wasn’t built on lies and secrets. Billy respected Lily as CEO, and he was happy to do whatever he could to make her dream at Chancellor become a reality. Victoria showed up, and Ashland told her that Billy thought she was more threatened by Ashland’s recovery and his role at Newman Locke than she was letting on. Exasperated, Victoria told Billy to back off. Billy pointed out that Ashland helped Victoria’s father and brother destroy Billy’s career. Ashland said Billy wrote a disparaging article about him. Victoria told Billy that he wasn’t accomplishing whatever he thought he was. Billy wished he’d blown Ashland out of the water in Italy. He hated that Victoria married someone who couldn’t be trusted, and he was glad their kids were at boarding school, away from the toxicity.

Victoria thought Billy said a horrible thing, but she wasn’t surprised. Billy said Victoria wasn’t paying attention, and she still thought he was the bad one. Victoria said that since the kids were at school, Billy didn’t need to be around her and Ashland. He thought that was a good idea. Billy said Ashland was going to let Victoria down in a way she couldn’t imagine, and it was going to be a long way to fall. Billy left.

Billy went home as Nate left. Lily brought Billy up to speed on Nate’s two job offers. The mention of Ashland’s offer lead to Billy telling Lily about his run in with Ashland earlier. He admitted it wasn’t his proudest moment. Billy brought Lily up to speed on what he’d said. He believed that the things he’d said to Ashland and Victoria needed to be said. However, he wasn’t happy with the way he’d conducted himself. Lily said everyone had their off moments. Billy said he’d spent weeks telling Lily he wasn’t that guy anymore, but clearly he had more work to do. Lily thought Billy was being too hard on himself. She didn’t think there was an issue, as long as he wasn’t concocting a scheme. He said she could rest easy. He decided she was right and that Ashland didn’t deserve another moment of his time. She knew he was a different man, and she thought it was time that he start believing that in his heart. Lily thought they should move forward with the podcast. Billy thought she was worried he wouldn’t have time for his COO abilities. She felt that it’d be good for him to share his experiences and she believed it’d help people. It was important to him that she trusted that he could do both the podcast and the COO job. She realized this would work as long as it didn’t take up too much of his time. He promised she could count on him. They kissed.

Back at Society, Victoria was sorry Ashland had to endure what Billy said. She said it was just Billy being Billy – he could evolve, but there were some people that stoked anger and hatred in him; Adam was one of them, and Ashland seemed to be added to the list. Ashland said he’d been despised by some of the most powerful people in the world, and he thrived on it because it told him he was doing the right thing. Billy was of no consequence to Ashland, but he was concerned about the toll it was taking on Victoria. She said not to worry about her.

Victoria said she thought Sally and Adam were a couple. Ashland laughed. He and Victoria were sure that was a recipe for disaster. Victoria thought Sally would be such a distraction that she’d make it impossible for Adam to do his job. And while Sally was talented, she was underqualified for this job. Ashland said Victor might soon regret supporting Adam and Sally as CEO and COO. Victoria didn’t want to go to war with her father. She said that instead of creating a way for Adam to fail so they could fire him, they could sit back and let it happen. Victor called and summoned Victoria to Newman Media.

While waiting for Victoria, Victor got a video call from Michael. Michael had paid off the doctor for the information on Ashland. The doctor had filmed a video, which was on its way to Victor’s inbox. According to Michael, the doctor said Ashland paid the clinic a substantial sum to falsify his medical records. Victor sat up straight and asked for details. Michael revealed that Ashland was in perfect health, but he’d paid the clinic to make it look like he had terminal cancer. Victor believed it, but he said he needed more evidence to convince everyone else. He said to send him the entire paper trail. Just then, Victoria walked in. Victor ended the call with Michael.

Recap written by Christine

After running into each other at Society, Nate accepted Victor’s offer to sit down for a drink. Victor asked about Elena and told Nate to hold onto her. Nate thought it was fortuitous that he ran into Victor. He was contemplating a big change in his life, and he could see both sides. Victor wondered why Nate was asking him this. Nate said Victor’s name would be on his paycheck. Things were different now that Nate couldn’t perform surgery. Ashland made it clear Nate could make a bigger impact and help people on a global scale. Victor said Newman Locke would be a good place to work. He told Nate to ask himself it would be rewarding. Nate said Ashland was certain it was. Victor replied that Ashland was certain about a number of things.

Victor asked Nate how Ashland was doing. Nate said he seemed to be doing well. Victor mused about the treatment. Nate mentioned that Michael asked him about the treatment too. Nate knew Michael was working for Victor, and he asked if it was a coincidence that they were both asking the same line of questioning. Victor said he was genuinely concerned about Ashland’s health – Ashland was family now, and family meant everything to Victor. Nate didn’t mean to imply that it didn’t. Nate just sensed there was more to this, but he didn’t have what Victor was looking for, and even if he did, he wouldn’t share it. Nate wasn’t Ashland’s doctor, but he believed medical information was private. Victor didn’t want Nate to violate his ethics. Nate said it was more than that – Ashland was a friend, and Nate wouldn’t betray his confidence.

Jack was startled to hear that the address from the mysterious texts he’d received was owned by someone named Hao Nguyen. That was his ex father in law’s name, but Jack was sure that Luan’s father wasn’t behind it. Phyllis asked why Jack was so sure his ex father in law wasn’t trying to get him to come to LA. Jack said that Hao Nguyen died long before Luan married Jack. Phyllis wondered how it was that a person with the same name as Jack’s dead father in law was sending him cryptic texts. According to Jack, Keemo changed his last name to Nguyen to honor his mother. Phyllis asked if Jack supported that, and he said it did. Phyllis asked what if the texter was Keemo, having fun with his dad by sending him creepy texts. Jack didn’t think Keemo would do that. Phyllis asked if Jack and Keemo were on good terms. Jack said yeah, but his expression said otherwise.

Jack called the mystery number, and nobody answered, and there was no voicemail set up. For a second time, Phyllis suggested calling Keemo. An uncomfortable Jack said he didn’t know his son’s number. According to Jack, Keemo kept losing phones and changing his number. Traci walked over after her spa appointment and wanted to know what was going on. Jack said it was nothing, but Phyllis was happy to share the details. Phyllis said someone was trying to get Jack to come to L.A. Jack added that the person said it was something he was missing. Phyllis explained why she thought it was Keemo. Traci thought they should just call him, forcing Jack to admit he didn’t have the number. Phyllis said she was capable of getting Keemo’s number. Jack blurted out that Keemo had gone no-contact with him. He hadn’t talked to his son in years.

Traci was confused, because she recalled Jack saying he talked with Keemo recently. Jack admitted he lied. Traci remembered that Keemo had been angry with Jack for hiding Luan’s illness, but as far as Traci knew, father and son reconciled before Keemo left Genoa City. Jack said that Keemo had reconciled with him out of respect for Luan, but after he left Genoa City, he said he neither wanted nor needed Jack in his life. The last time Jack reached out, Keemo said that he was done with Jack. Traci was sorry. Jack was too. He felt bad he’d lied, but even saying the words that his son wanted nothing to do with him hurt more than words could say. Traci suggested that Keemo had a change of heart, and he was reaching out with these texts. Phyllis thought that made sense – maybe Keemo was being cryptic because he was embarrassed about the way he’d acted. Jack didn’t think that was it, and he didn’t want to reopen the wound. He abruptly left.

Phyllis and Traci wanted to help Jack. Traci thought they could only wait and see how Jack wanted to proceed. She wished Jack said something earlier, so they could’ve tried to help. Phyllis didn’t understand why Keemo pushed Jack away – Jack had the biggest heart, and family was important to him. Traci suggested Keemo didn’t want to be part of the Abbott family, which was too bad because everyone did everything they could to welcome him. Phyllis said Jack told her a few things about Keemo, but she didn’t know anything about his relationship with the rest of the Abbotts. Traci said Keemo was wary at first, understandably so – he was a young man who suddenly found out about all these new relatives. Phyllis said the Abbotts of Jabot Cosmetics, and the family breakfasts could be intimidating. Traci said Keemo warmed up as Luan got close to Jack. Keemo even worked at Jabot for awhile. Phyllis said Keemo probably felt like he hit the jackpot as Jack’s son. Traci thought that at the time, but as soon as Luan died, Keemo distanced himself from his paternal family. Traci had thought it was the grief, but now they knew something else was going on.

Phyllis said that if these texts were a cruel prank, she would hunt this person down and make their life miserable. Traci had no doubt. She knew there wasn’t much Phyllis wouldn’t do to protect Jack. Traci remembered what a huge part of Jack’s life Luan was. Watching him lose her was devastating. Traci always thought Luan was the most significant love of Jack’s life. Phyllis looked stung. Phyllis said Jack didn’t tell her much about Luan. Traci said it was too painful for him to talk about. Traci shared some of the history. Jack and Luan got together when they were young. Fate tore them apart, and by some miracle, they found each other again, decades later. Jack learned that they shared a son, a son who hadn’t been raised by either parent. Phyllis said that was another son that Jack was deprived of raising from birth. Traci continued – Luan found out she had a terminal illness, and her reunion with Jack and their happiness was short lived. Traci said Jack found a way to go on, somehow. Clearly referencing Phyllis, Traci smiled and added that Jack found an even more intense love later on.

It bothered Traci that Jack had never been able to make peace with Keemo. Keemo lost his mother just after finding her again, then he turned his back on his father. She wanted to know what was going through Keemo’s mind. Phyllis said Traci was lovely, and she empathized with everyone involved, but Phyllis only cared about the people she was close to. Phyllis said Jack lost Keemo and Luan, and a lesser man would’ve cracked. Phyllis vowed to find out who was sending those texts. She conspiratorially shared that she had resources at her disposal for things like this. Traci thought they should keep the investigation on hold for the moment, because Jack might not want to know who was sending the texts.

Nate was leaving Society as Jack arrived. They said hello as they passed by each other. Jack took a seat at the bar near Victor. Victor saw that something was the matter with Jack and asked about it. Jack wondered if he was that transparent. Victor was about to leave. Jack offered to buy Victor a drink. Victor said it was a miracle. He sat back down and ordered a tequila. Jack ordered a scotch. Victor thought Jack’s quiet demeanor was unusual. Jack asked if Victor ever had regrets. Victor thought only sociopaths had no regrets. Victor assumed Jack regretted the feuds he and Victor had. Jack didn’t feel remorse about any of that. “Not even when you watched me die on the office floor?,” Victor asked. “Eh, I knew you were gonna be okay,” Jack replied. Victor laughed. Jack thought Victor had done worse to him.

Jack said that their feuds were about business, but this was closer to home. Jack said it was about being a father. He asked if Victor ever looked back and wondered whether the mistakes he made in the past could be fixed. Victor said fatherhood was fraught with opportunities to fail. If he made the wrong decisions, so be it – his kids were mature enough to look beyond them. Victor admitted he’d made mistakes, some that he thought were irreconcilable, but regrets were only good if they spurred you to new action. Jack thought that was a good point. Victor wondered why Jack was concerned about being a good father. Victor thought Jack was an excellent father who’d raised Kyle well under difficult circumstances, and Kyle had turned into a wonderful man. Jack said Kyle was everything he could want in son.

“Kyle is not the problem,” Jack stated. Victor asked what the problem was. Jack said the past snuck up on him today and stabbed him in the chest. Victor said he and Jack were men of action, and sometimes those actions had a tendency to come back to haunt you. Jack supposed that was true. “I don’t regret anything, really. It’s how you handle it. That is what counts,” Victor said. Jack said thanks. Jack sought Victor’s counseling because Victor had more experience with this. Victor didn’t like to think about his childhood, because it was awful. He taught himself to look forward, not backward because what good did looking backward do? However, as much as people liked to be done with some parts of their past, their past was never done with them, Victor concluded.

Jack returned to the hotel. Phyllis said Traci had to leave, but she asked Phyllis to pass along the message that Traci was there if Jack wanted to talk. Jack said Traci was always there for him, and lately Phyllis had been too. Jack thanked Phyllis for trying to help him solve the puzzle. Phyllis wished Jack would’ve told her about Keemo cutting him out before. He wished he’d told her too. Jack had decided that he needed to find out who was trying to get him to come to LA.

Amanda was very worried about Dominic after his complicated medical procedure, and she didn’t understand how everyone else was so calm. Chance admitted he was a wreck inside, and his calm exterior was for Abby. Abby was doing the same for Chance. Amanda was moved by Abby and Chance’s decision to invite her and Devon into their home. Amanda assured the three others that there would be other events in Dom’s life that they’d get to share together – birthdays, holidays, ball game. She was humbled and touched by the bond Dom’s parents shared, and she was proud to know the three of them. Abby thought that was a beautiful sentiment. Amanda said takeout was on her.

Abby asked for extra fortune cookies, and Amanda questioned that. Devon said that Abby liked to keep opening the cookies until she got the fortune she liked. Abby asked if they could stop talking about the bone marrow transplant. She wanted a distraction. Amanda said she and Imani would be working for Chancellor Industries. Chance welcomed her to the family company. Amanda asked if he ever thought about joining up, and he said the corporate life wasn’t for him. He liked traveling the world and fighting the good fight. Abby called him a hero, and he didn’t agree. Devon was happy Chance chose that path, because he went after Colin when he stole Devon’s money. Devon knew Chance had protected a lot of people.

Devon said he and Lily were teaming their companies to produce socially relevant podcasts. Abby thought Neil would be proud. Chance thought Katherine would approve too. Amanda wished she’d gotten to meet these people who were big parts of their lives. Abby was about to share a Katherine story, when Dom started crying. Devon and Abby rushed upstairs. Time passed, and Chance wondered if he should go upstairs, but he figured Abby and Devon had it handled. Amanda said that they’d come to them if they needed them. Amanda hoped Chance knew Devon wasn’t trying to usurp Chance’s role in Dom’s life. Chance knew that. Chance said it was uncharted territory, but if they lead with love, they’d find a way.

Abby and Devon came downstairs. Dom had just needed a fresh diaper.

Nate arrived at Devon’s request. Abby thanked Nate for the way he expedited things at the hospital. Nate asked how Devon was. He was just a little sore. Nate advised everyone rest. He went upstairs to see Dom and the nurse. Abby was sorry she never checked on Devon. He said he was fine – he just did the easy part. Abby didn’t want Devon to downplay what he’d done for Dom. She said they owed him, but he said he was happy to help. Abby and Amanda went to the kitchen. Chance thanked Devon too. “You did it again. You saved Dominic when I couldn’t,” Chance said. Devon didn’t think he deserved that much credit. The only reason Devon was able to give his bone marrow was simple biology. Chance didn’t think Devon should downplay what he did for their son. Devon said he’d always do anything Dom needed, and that didn’t diminish Chance’s role as the father. Chance got it intellectually, but emotionally, it was different. It was hard for Chance to see the way Devon instantly ran to Dom when he cried. Chance didn’t have that instinct, and he wasn’t sure he never would. Devon said Dom wasn’t even one year old, so there was plenty of time for Chance to gain that instinct. Devon didn’t think it was all about biology. Devon was a teen when he met Neil, and Neil became the center of Devon’s world. Devon knew Chance loved Dom and that the rest would follow.

Everyone returned to the living room. The baby was fine, according to Nate. Nate saw the fortune cookies and was interested in having some of the leftovers. The dish he asked about happened to be the one that Devon had set aside for breakfast in the morning, but he let his cousin have the rest of it. Devon and Abby’s fortune cookie messages seemed tailored to the situation with Dominic, and both fortunes predicted positive things ahead. They smiled. Later, they all headed up to the bedrooms to sleep, but apparently they weren’t able to drift off, because one by one, they all came back downstairs. Abby was first, then Devon, with Chance and Amanda coming shortly afterward.

Update written by Joseph

EJ goes to his prison cell and finds out his cellmate is Clyde Weston!

Xander and Gwen kiss in their room. Gwen tells him that the ring is perfect and she can’t wait to show it off. Jack then shows up at their door, surprising Gwen. Jack tells Gwen to be straight with him as he asks what she knows about Abigail’s disappearance.

Chad asks Shawn about his lead. Chad tells him that he thinks he’s right that this is the key to finding his wife.

Abigail searches the bedroom. Kristen recovers and finds her in the room, warning that Abigail has been very naughty. Abigail guesses this was Sarah’s room and asks Kristen where she is. Kristen responds that it’s what she would like to know.

Steve and Kayla kiss until Sarah walks in, shocked to find them. Sarah says she didn’t know anyone was in here. Sarah can’t believe it’s Kayla as they hug. Sarah calls it a dream and asks how she even got here. Kayla calls it a long story and assures that they are going to help her.

Chad thanks Shawn and tells him to keep him posted. Kate walks in and asks Chad if there’s good news about Abigail. Chad confirms that Shawn has a lead and tells her about Abigail tracking down the DiMera pilot who flew Sarah out of Salem last year. Chad thinks that the pilot must have been involved. Kate wonders where he would have gone.

Kristen remarks that where ever Sarah is, she could not have gone far. Abigail asks if that means Kristen is admitting that she’s been holding Sarah prisoner on this island the whole time. Kristen can’t believe Abigail drugged her. Abigail asks what she expected and if she was supposed to forget that she’s a prisoner. Kristen points out that Sarah never tried to drug her. Abigail argues that Kristen brought Sarah here against her will. Kristen tells her that Sarah came willingly and climbed in to the suitcase. Abigail questions why she would do that.

Kayla assures Sarah that she’s not dreaming. Sarah says she’s been so lonely. Kayla can’t imagine what she has been through and asks if she’s alright. Sarah confirms that Kristen didn’t hurt her. Kayla says she’s relieved to see her. Steve thinks they need to get out of here before Kristen gets back. Sarah then asks who Steve is. Steve questions her not knowing who he is. Sarah asks if she should. Steve informs her that he’s Steve Johnson, Kayla’s husband. Sarah is surprised that they are married and congratulates them, asking when this happened. Steve explains that they have been married a few times, most recently last year. Kayla reminds Sarah that she was her maid of honor. Sarah says she wasn’t but Steve assures that it’s true. Sarah remarks that if she was in their wedding, she would definitely remember that…

Abigail questions Kristen as to why Sarah would willingly leave Salem with her and if she tried to blackmail or trick her. Kristen asks why it matters. Abigail decides she’ll go find Sarah and see what she has to say but Kristen stops her and says she’ll give her the scoop.

Gwen questions Jack about Abigail’s disappearance. Xander is surprised she’s still missing since Chad came by looking for her the other day. Gwen says this is the first that she is hearing about it and claims she had no idea that Abigail was missing. Jack asks if she’s sure about that.

Chad informs Kate that the pilot didn’t file a flight plan so they have no record of where he could have gone and there’s no security footage. Chad is positive that the pilot is the key to finding Abigail. Kate assumes Shawn is trying to track him down now. Kate knows Chad is horribly worried about Abigail and it’s not the greatest time to bring up EJ. Chad tells her not to. Kate questions Chad not giving a damn about letting his brother go to prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

Clyde says he was wondering when EJ might show up. EJ questions him keeping tabs on him. Clyde says EJ’s trial was big news around here, so he heard all about how he kidnapped his wife and held her prisoner for months. Clyde remarks that it’s twisted even by his standards. EJ says he’s innocent. Clyde points out that the judge didn’t think so. EJ insists that he was set up. Clyde assures that he’s no snitch, so EJ can level with him, especially since they are one time business associates. EJ argues that he was his boss and that was a long time ago as he never should’ve gotten mixed up with drugs. EJ points out that led to his supposed death but now he’s alive and well. EJ declares that one of his biggest regrets was never getting to confront the son of a bitch who shot him. Clyde comments that it sounds like EJ still holds a grudge. EJ asks why he wouldn’t since he lost everything that night. Clyde flashes back to that night and asks exactly how much EJ remembers about his shooting.

Chad complains that one moment Kate is trying to talk him out of exonerating EJ and the next, she’s feeling guilty about letting him take the fall. Kate says she feels guilty now that EJ is facing a ten year sentence. Chad tells Kate that she can go tell the police that the real kidnapper was her son, Lucas. Kate argues that Chad has a son so he should understand her wanting to protect her son. Chad says up to a point. Kate asks at what point would he throw his son Thomas under the bus and ruin his life. Chad doesn’t see himself ever having to make that decision. Kate asks if his children are going to be perfect citizens. Chad says he hopes so. Kate argues that they can still find a way to screw up their life. Kate says some day Chad will get it as his kids will be adults and make horrific mistakes. Chad says when that happens, Kate will be there to advise them and let their children get away with all these horrible mistakes. Chad then apologizes and admits that was uncalled for as he’s just a little bit on edge with his wife missing. Kate apologizes for going on about this when he’s clearly worried. Kate tells Chad that he can continue with his plan of claiming he planted the evidence against EJ and just leave Lucas out of it. Chad argues that he would then be charged with perjury and there’s no way he’s going to implicate himself to save EJ after he forced himself on his wife. Kate thinks it’s wrong to make EJ suffer that much. Chad suggests thinking about the positive that her guilty as hell son gets to galivant around the world with the woman he loves. Chad apologizes and says he won’t do it again. Chad then admits that if it was his son, he’d protect him the same way that Kate is protecting her son. Kate thanks him and appreciates that. Kate wishes that Roman would but if he knew that she let Sami go around the world with her kidnapper, he’d never forgive her. Chad gets that Kate doesn’t want her son to go to prison so she’s going to have to learn to live with it. Tony then walks in and questions live with what?

Xander asks Jack why he’s suspicious of Gwen when she just told him that she knows nothing about this. Jack explains that he spoke to Chad, who said Abigail was investigating Sarah’s disappearance and now she’s missing as well so he thinks those two things are connected. Xander asks what it has to do with Gwen. Jack brings up that Chad said Abigail suspected Gwen of pretending to be Sarah. Xander points out that was proven untrue when Gwen ran in to Abigail and “Sarah” while they were talking in the town square. Gwen recalls Abigail having a strong grip and trying to rip off a mask, thinking she was going to expose her until she saw her there. Xander adds that Abigail clearly had it wrong. Xander is sorry that Abigail is missing but says whatever happened to her had nothing to do with Gwen.

Abigail questions if Kristen is going to tell her what happened with Sarah just like that. Kristen asks why not since Abigail isn’t going anywhere and can’t tell anyone. Kristen adds that first she wants her keys back. Kristen then pulls her gun out, so Abigail hands over the keys and tells her to start at the beginning. Kristen informs Abigail that the day before Sarah was going to be a bride, she came to Basic Black to pick up her wedding dress and caught her without her “Susan” disguise and realized it was her, so she was about to call Brady. Kristen says she had no choice but to knock her out and stick her in the secret room of the DiMera Tunnels. Abigail realizes Kristen had to make Sarah disappear to protect her secret. Kristen brings up having the technology to make a Sarah mask to lure Rex in to bed and arranged for Xander to catch them in the act. Kristen admits that breaking Xander’s heart was immensely satisfying. Abigail asks then what happened. Kristen says she went back to the secret room and Sarah attacked her with a syringe.

Kayla continues telling Sarah about their wedding day last Valentine’s Day and that Abe officiated it. Sarah recognizes Abe’s name and asks if it was a big wedding. Kayla says it was a small ceremony at the Brady Pub with just Abe, Sarah, and Tripp. Sarah questions what Pub and who Tripp is. Kayla wonders if Sarah suffered head trauma recently. Sarah says no and asks why. Kayla says it seems like she’s suffering from partial memory loss. Sarah assures that her memory is just fine. Kayla tries to continue but Sarah stops her and questions who Sarah is.

EJ tells Clyde that he doesn’t remember anything about the night he was shot or why he was in the park but assumes it was on drug business. EJ asks Clyde if he knows why he was there. Clyde claims that he doesn’t and questions EJ really not remembering anything. EJ calls it a side effect of the drugs that saved his life as it erased some memory but Sami informed him that a random addict mugged him. Clyde says he remembers hearing something about that. EJ says he was taken from his wife and children and lost years of his life because of that bastard. EJ swears if the guy wasn’t already dead, he’d kill him, himself.

Chad and Kate inform Tony that they were talking about EJ. Chad says there’s nothing they can do about EJ being in prison but he’s getting what he deserves. Tony points out that EJ claims he’s innocent. Chad argues that EJ also claims he didn’t force himself on his wife but he saw it with his own eyes. Tony doesn’t understand why EJ would pull such a stunt, especially knowing that Chad held his life in his hands. Chad argues that it’s because EJ is an arrogant jerk who can do what he wants and take what he wants and get away with it. Chad declares they are better off without him. Tony notes that he’s still their brother. Chad decides he’s not in the mood to talk about EJ when Abigail is missing and needs his help. Tony asks how he’s holding up. Chad admits he’s not well and it’s hard to keep it together in front of the kids. Chad says he begged whoever is sending messages from Abigail’s phone to send her back but they said they can’t help so whoever is behind this is completely heartless.

Gwen asks Jack if he has any idea or clues as to who might be behind Abigail’s disappearance. Jack says all he knows is that whoever is responsible has her phone because Chad texted the monster to release Abigail but they blew him off and he hasn’t heard a word since. Gwen calls that awful as she thinks back to having Abigail’s phone and texting Chad. Jack apologizes if he’s upset her and says he shouldn’t have come at Gwen that way, he’s just out of his mind with worry. Gwen says she understands because of her history with Abigail so she doesn’t blame him. Gwen claims that she has no idea where Abigail might be.

Kristen tells Abigail that she and Sarah struggled over the syringe and she ended up with the wrong end of the needle. Abigail questions how Sarah got a syringe. Kristen says she doesn’t know as she said it was lying there but she doesn’t know what was in it or how it got there. Kristen reveals that it completely warped Sarah’s mind and she hasn’t been the same since. Abigail comes to a realization and remembers threatening Gwen in that room with the syringe that Gwen used to drug her before. Abigail then declares that what happened to Sarah is her fault.

Kayla tells Sarah that she is Sarah. Sarah says she’s not. Steve insists that she is Sarah Horton. Kayla talks about Tom and Alice being Sarah’s grandparents and Maggie being her mother. Sarah laughs at that and says it’s ridiculous as she hardly knows Maggie. Steve asks who Sarah thinks she is then.

Tony encourages Chad not to lose hope because Abigail always finds her way back to him. Tony asks about a lead. Chad says there might be one but it all depends on finding the pilot, Ned Grainger. Tony reveals he might be able to help with that.

Xander tells Jack that he’s sure Abigail will turn up any time now. Jack thanks him and says he’s covered a lot of missing persons stories over the years. Gwen stops him and encourages that Abigail is tough, so she has no doubt that she will come back to them. Jack thanks her but he just doesn’t know what to do as he feels helpless. Gwen is sure that the police are doing everything they can, so he just has to have faith. Gwen adds that if Jack ever needs someone to lean on, he’s always got her. Jack thanks Gwen and hugs her.

Kristen questions how Sarah’s condition could be Abigail’s fault. Abigail reveals that she’s the one who left the syringe in the secret room as she was trying to scare Gwen. Kristen laughs at that and questions doing that in the secret room. Kristen guesses that Abigail kidnapped Gwen. Abigail explains that she had to find out if she killed her grandmother and threatening her felt like the only way to get to the truth. Kristen is impressed as she didn’t think Abigail was capable of playing hard ball. Kristen asks about Abigail not going through with it. Abigail explains that Gabi stopped her. Kristen remarks that whatever was in the syringe packs a punch and asks what’s in it. Abigail explains that Dr. Rolf gave it to Gwen, who had drugged her and it fried her brain. Kristen says that explains why Sarah is the way she is. Abigail asks how bad she is.

Sarah says that Kayla knows who she is and she’s just being silly. Sarah tells Kayla to fill Steve in while she goes to get the paddles for the kayak. Steve encourages that they can find a nearby island. Sarah says she used to think that too but the only thing around here is water. Steve suggests flagging down a passing ship. Sarah says she’s always wanted to but was afraid of going too far. Steve informs her that he used to be a merchant at sea so he has experience. Sarah talks about wanting to rescue herself today and now they are here. Sarah goes to find paddles and a life vest. Steve questions what the hell is going on. Kayla says Sarah has obviously had a mental break and is suffering some sort of selective amnesia. Steve goes over Sarah remembering Kayla and the Hortons but not him or who she is. Kayla wonders what Kristen did to her. Steve hopes that getting her back to Salem will trigger the rest of her memories. Kayla says it’s possible but they need to get off this island first.

EJ asks how long Clyde has been in prison. Clyde says it’s been 8 long years though he has managed to sneak in a few unofficial breaks. EJ guesses Clyde must been keen to the inner workings of the place. EJ asks if he can rely on Clyde to show him the works. Clyde responds that it’s the least he could do for his old boss. EJ says who would have thought that after all these years, they would be sharing a cell. EJ takes his spot on the bunk bed. Clyde thinks to himself that EJ really doesn’t remember how he double crossed him when he got shot. Clyde hopes that it stays that way.

Jack thanks Gwen and says it means a lot to him. Jack then notices the ring on Gwen’s finger and asks if there is something they aren’t telling him. Gwen then confirms they are engaged as Xander just proposed before he arrived. Jack apologizes for putting a damper on the celebration. Jack tells them that he’s so happy for them as it’s clear they are very much in love and he’s glad that his daughter has Xander to look after her. Xander thanks him and they hug. Xander asks if this means he gets to call Jack dad but Jack says no.

Chad asks Tony what he knows about Ned Grainger. Tony says he and Anna always requested him when they used the jet because he was a professional and they got to know each other well. Chad asks if he has the address to find him. Tony says he’s familiar with the area so he would recognize the house if he saw it as they had dinner there one night. Chad declares that they need to go down to Key West as soon as possible. Kate suggests calling Shawn first. Chad says he’ll give him a heads up but he’s not leaving this up to the cops when Abigail’s life depends on it.

Kristen tells Abigail that Sarah was high enough after being injected that she thought she was Xander. Abigail recalls the same and thinking that Chad was Ben. Kristen says it worked to her advantage as she pretended to be Xander to get Sarah in to the suitcase and convince her to get to the deserted island. Abigail realizes that’s what she meant by saying Sarah went willingly. Abigail says she would not be okay without intensive therapy and medication so if Sarah hasn’t seen a professional, she has to be a mess. Kristen responds that Sarah is actually doing quite well now.

Sarah returns to Steve and Kayla with paddles and a life vests. Sarah talks about dreaming of this for so long and it could really be happening. Sarah says if they could flag down a ship, she could finally get back to the man she loves as she has missed him beyond all reason. Kayla comments that he’s been so worried about her too. Sarah asks if they have seen him. Steve says before they left Salem, he tried to hire his agency to come search for her. Steve assures that he hasn’t forgotten her. Sarah says not a day has gone by that she doesn’t think of him. Sarah describes him so Kayla remarks that she’s clearly still in love with Xander, but Sarah asks who Xander is.

Clyde advises EJ not to talk about his extravagant lifestyle around the prison. EJ hopes that he can trust Clyde because he’s going to need someone to have his back around here. Clyde tells him that he has no idea.

Kayla questions Sarah not remembering Xander either. Sarah says she doesn’t think so. Steve informs her that they were engaged and she almost married Xander.

Jack asks if Gwen and Xander have set a date for the wedding. Gwen jokes that she’ll have to catch her breath first. Xander hopes it will be soon as they are counting on Jack, Jennifer, and Abigail being there. Xander has no doubt Abigail will be found by then. Jack decides he should call Jennifer to update her. Jack hugs Gwen and Xander and congratulates them again. Gwen hopes Jack finds Abigail soon. Jack assures they will and swears to God that when they find who did this, he will make them pay…

Abigail asks Kristen if Sarah still thinks she’s married to Xander on this island. Kristen responds that Sarah has moved past that phase. Abigail asks what she means. Kristen states that Sarah is not hung up on Xander anymore.

Sarah doesn’t know what’s going on here but assures that she’s never been engaged to a Xander. They ask her about the man she loves that she described. Sarah reveals that she was talking about Tony. Steve and Kayla question her being in love with Tony DiMera.

Tony tells Chad that he didn’t imagine seeing Ned again under these circumstances. Chad wants to get to the airfield. Kate worries that he could be dangerous. Chad refuses to wait for the cops. Tony thinks he can get Ned to cooperate since they are friends. Chad warns that if Tony can’t convince him, he will. Chad says he will call the jet to have it fueled up. Tony assures that they will find Abigail and bring her home to Chad and their children.

Steve questions Sarah being in love with Tony DiMera. Sarah says they have had their ups and downs but Tony is the love of her life. Steve wonders if she thinks she’s Anna but Sarah questions how he could confuse her with that scheming bitch. Kayla asks who Sarah is then. Sarah responds that she is the one and only, Renee DuMonde.

Summer was disappointed, but understanding of Phyllis’s decision not to move to Milan. Summer sensed that Phyllis loved Jack. Phyllis did some digging into the mysterious texts Jack was getting. She learned that the address that had been texted to him was a house owned by Hao Nguyen. Jack said that was a common Vietnamese name, and it happened to be his former father in law’s name. Hao Nguyen was the father of Jack’s late wife Luan and grandfather to Jack’s oldest son, Keemo. However, Jack was sure  the Hao Nguyen who owned the house was not Luan’s father. Devon, Amanda, Abby and Chance were there when Dom received the bone marrow transplant. Devon had medical equipment sent to the Chancellor house so Dom could recover at home. Recap written by Christine

At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis told Jack that she did some digging, and she found out who owned the house at the address in the text. He was interested, but she had to cut their talk short because Summer video called, and Jack had to get to his meeting elsewhere in the hotel. Summer was hoping Phyllis was going to accept her job offer and move to Milan. Phyllis gently turned Summer down. She said Genoa City was home, she had roots here and friends here, and it wouldn’t feel right to leave. Summer was disappointed. Phyllis said it would’ve been great to work alongside Summer in Milan, but that wasn’t the right choice for Phyllis, at least at this point in her life. Summer understood, but she wondered how much Jack factored into Phyllis’s decision.

Phyllis didn’t know why Summer was asking this. Summer said they had conversations about Jack while Phyllis was in Milan, and Kyle had conversations with Jack about Phyllis while he was in Milan. Phyllis said she and Jack were just friends. She just went through a horrible breakup with Summer’s dad, so she wasn’t jumping into another relationship. Summer thought Jack was great, and she knew he and Phyllis cared about each other. Phyllis said Jack forgave her no matter how often she screwed up, and when things were good or bad, she went to Jack. Summer thought it sounded like love. Phyllis said Jack wasn’t the reason she turned down the job offer. Summer had gotten her hopes up about Phyllis moving there, but she guessed they’d have to visit each other more often. Phyllis wanted Summer to come visit in the spring. They ended the call.

Jack returned and Phyllis talked to him about Summer. She said Summer was so level headed and mature. Jack would never say this to their children, but he was dazzled by the way Kyle and Summer took to parenthood. Harrison was thriving. He asked what she’d found out about the address. She showed him something on a tablet and said “Hao Nguyen.” There was recognition in his face, and she asked if the name meant something to him.

Jack said that was a common Vietnamese name. Phyllis had discovered that when she’d tried to narrow down which Hao Nguyen owned the property. She asked about the look he gave when she said that name. He told her that Luan, his late wife, was Vietnamese. Phyllis knew that was his son Keemo’s mother. Luan’s maiden name was Nguyen, and her father’s name was Hao, but Jack was sure it wasn’t the same person.

At their place, Amanda asked Devon when he left for the hospital. He was going to Abby and Chance’s soon, so they could all go together. She asked if he was sure he didn’t want her to go with him to the hospital, because she’d planned to go. He said no, it was fine. He appreciated her being there when they took his bone marrow. Today was just the doctors transferring the marrow to Dom in an IV. He knew she had a full day with closing her law practice. He said Abby and Chance would be there, so he wouldn’t be alone. He added that the real test would be how Dominic responded to the treatment. She said she’d be there for him no matter what.

Abby and Chance were at home. She’d just checked on Dom, and Chance asked how he was. He was still listless, and Abby hated seeing him like this. Chance noted that Dom would get treated soon. She thought it’d be awkward explaining to the families why they weren’t told about all this. She asked how Chance was doing, he said he was fine. Abby didn’t want empty reassurances. She wanted the truth.

Devon came over. Chance thanked Devon for having all the medical equipment set up here so that Dominic could recover at home instead of the hospital. Chance said that they were grateful to Devon, who gave Dom life, then he saved his life. Devon said he didn’t do anything Chance and Abby wouldn’t have done. His being a match for Dom was the luck of the draw. Devon asked how Chance was doing. He said he was good, and Dom was the focus. Devon imagined that Chance would be able to focus on his recovery once Dom was better. After Neil and Hilary died, Devon thought he could get through this on his own, and it didn’t work out. He started having panic attacks, and he even had one in front of Abby at the opening of The Grand Phoenix. He reached out and got help and turned things around. Chance was glad for Devon. Devon knew Chance could do the same. Devon said it was important to take charge of what was bothering you, or it would take charge of you.

At their place, Tessa and Mariah talked about possible places to have a wedding. Tessa suggested a horseback wedding, but Mariah said they didn’t have the budget, and she wanted to have her two feet on the ground when she said her vows. Mariah said they had to come up with a plan, because April wasn’t that far away, unless they postponed the date. Tessa didn’t want to push back the wedding, because she couldn’t wait to be Mariah’s wife. Mariah loved hearing that.

Mariah asked Tessa to predict her ideal wedding. Tessa said a wedding in San Francisco – the place it all started when Mariah kissed her. Mariah really liked the idea of going back to their beginning – taking something that was confusing and making it joyful. Mariah said the ideal wedding had to center around music for Tessa, so they could do Dollywood. Mariah knew Tessa loved it when they went there. They decided to call and see if they did weddings.

Tessa was frustrated because everywhere they called was booked solid. Mariah said they could do the GCAC rooftop. Tessa thought it’d be cold for April, but Mariah said Devon could put out heaters. They put it on a possible list. They threw out a bunch of ideas – haunted house, Devon’s private jet, downtown Chicago, a private mini music festival, the field museum next to the dinosaur skeletons. Now they had so many ideas that they weren’t sure what to do.

Sharon and Faith were at Crimson Lights talking about their schedule for visiting colleges when Nick and Noah walked in. Noah asked if Sharon was ready for Faith to fly the nest. Sharon pointed out that Faith spent an entire semester in boarding school, and they all managed fine. Sharon was excited about the opportunities Faith had. Faith was worried no college would take her, but Nick assured Faith that she’d have lots of options, since she raised her grades. Faith and Noah ribbed each other about their choices in life, and Noah said that he was glad he moved to London for awhile and learned what was out there in life.

Faith and Sharon talked alone and worked out an itinerary; they’d be visiting several states, including Michigan and Indiana. Faith was grateful Sharon was doing this with her. Sharon was glad to have some time with her girl. Moses arrived, and he and Faith went to the patio. Noah asked if Faith and Moses were applying to the same schools. Sharon said that Faith wanted to mostly apply to schools in the northeast because that’s where Moses’ mom lived. Nick asked if Sharon talked to Faith about how much her boyfriend should or shouldn’t factor into her decision about where to go to school. Sharon hadn’t felt the need – Faith was applying to a lot of schools, she had no idea where she’d be accepted, and who could predict where Faith and Moses would be a few months from now.

Chance called Sharon from the hospital and asked her to refer him to a counselor. She said she’d call some people and see if they were accepting new patients. The call ended. Abby thanked Chance for making the call, and they hugged. Devon walked up, and he had Amanda with him. She’d realized she wouldn’t be able to get any work done, so she came by. They all went back to the Chancellor place afterward. Dominic was upstairs with the nurse, and he was sleeping peacefully. Abby said that he had one little bandage, and you’d never know what he’d been through. Chance said they would keep Devon and Amanda updated. Devon didn’t want to be away from Dominic. Abby tensed up. She didn’t want Dominic to go to Devon’s house tonight – he’d had an ordeal and he was resting. That wasn’t what Devon meant. Amanda thought that tonight, neither Abby nor Devon wanted to be away from their baby. Abby and Chance invited Devon and Amanda to spend the night. “That way Dominic will be surrounded by all of his parents,” Abby said.

On the patio, Faith asked Moses if he was going to visit any campuses. His mom took him to some when he was a sophomore and he wanted to go into medicine. Now he wanted to go into music, and he was thinking about going to GCU. Faith thought that might be the best choice for her too. He was surprised she’d even consider it, since the last time they talked, she was all “Go Blue.” Faith said her mom encouraged her to consider it. Like Moses, she hoped to work with her family when she graduated, so she could do internships while she was taking classes. Moses said that if Faith got accepted to a big college and turned it down, her family would probably think it was because of him. Faith said it wouldn’t have anything to do with Moses; it was strictly about what was best for her. However, practically speaking, it’d save time if they were in the same place, so they wouldn’t have to keep flying back and forth to visit.

Mariah and Tessa went downstairs and sought Sharon, Faith, Noah, Nick and Moses’s help with the wedding venue idea. Everyone except Noah chimed in, and they all had a different favorite. Mariah asked Noah to break the tie. Noah thought they should combine all the ideas into a wedding theme, because it was all part of who Mariah and Tessa were, and they accepted each other wholeheartedly. Tessa thought that made sense – she said it didn’t matter where they got married – it was a celebration of who they were, which was wild, unpredictable and all-encompassing.

Update written by Joseph

Xander and Gwen lay in bed together. Xander thinks they should get up. Gwen asks if he has somewhere to go. Xander says it’s a surprise then gets her to guess that he’s going to get her an engagement ring. Xander clarifies that he’s going to window shop for one at least. Gwen calls him so sweet and charming but points out that he doesn’t have any money for a really nice ring. Gwen swears that she doesn’t need anything fancy but Xander says she deserves it as they kiss. Gwen agrees not to fight him on that. Xander says he won’t be long and tells her to try to stay out of trouble while he’s gone..

Belle visits with EJ in prison. EJ says he’s about to be locked up for the one crime he did not commit. Belle talks about filing an appeal. EJ says at least now he understands why Chad changed his mind about testifying on his behalf but he doesn’t understand why he’s so certain that he saw him kissing Abigail at the courthouse when he never went near her. Belle agrees that it doesn’t make sense. EJ wishes he could see Chad and explain it to him. Belle warns that he doesn’t want to do that because Chad has a lot going on with Abigail right now. EJ asks what he means. Belle explains that Shawn got a call from Chad, who said he got a text from Abigail saying that she went to Boston to visit her parents but he found out that Abigail never went to Boston and has now vanished without a trace.

At the DiMera Mansion, Chad goes over a map, wondering where Abigail could be and declares that he’s not giving up and he will find her, whatever it takes.

Shawn is in his office at the police station with a case file that has photos of Steve, Kayla, Abigail, Sarah, and Kristen.

Kayla and Steve wake up in a bed together where they are locked up as they are startled by a noise. They find a tray of fruit and water along with a bag. Steve opens the bag and finds his eye patch inside.

Kristen has Steve’s phone which rings with a call from Shawn. Kristen worries that Abigail was right that the cops are closing in. Kristen listens to Shawn’s voicemail, saying he’s sure that Steve is on Kristen’s trail and talks about Abigail missing as well. Abigail comes in and says she told Kristen that they would be looking for her.

Gwen has Abigail’s phone which goes off with text messages from Chad. Gwen reads a message from Chad, saying he knows they have his wife and have disabled tracking on her phone. Chad asks them to have some compassion since Abigail is a mother, wife, daughter, and sister. Chad says he’ll do anything they want if they let Abigail come home to her family.

Xander exits the Salem Inn and pulls out his ring for Sarah. Xander tells himself to stop being sentimental as Sarah is never coming back to him, so the only way to buy Gwen an engagement ring is to sell this one.

Sarah sits in the room she is locked up in, reading a book and wishing the man that she loves could whisk her away.

Belle informs EJ that Chad thinks Kristen might have had something to do with Abigail’s disappearance. EJ questions why Kristen would kidnap Abigail. Belle explains that Abigail was on the trail of what happened to Sarah and that led her to Kristen. Belle adds that she stopped trying to figure out Kristen’s motivations. EJ says if Kristen did have something to do with it, Chad should take some comfort in Abigail being a DiMera so Kristen won’t hurt her. EJ remarks that they may stab each other in the back figuratively, but never literally. EJ then admits there were a couple incidents. Belle hopes that Kristen does have Abigail and declares that if anyone can find Kristen, it’s Steve and Kayla.

Kayla and Steve talk about Kristen’s kidnapping experience. They look through the bag and find sweetener for their coffee and their driver’s licenses. Steve points out that she did not return his phone. Kayla figures they wouldn’t have service anyways. Kayla prepares to eat the fruit but Steve warns that it could have drugs or poison. Kayla insists on being hungry. Steve doesn’t want to risk being poisoned but Kayla decides she’s willing to take the chance.

Abigail tells Kristen that the walls are closing in on her and it’s just a matter of time. Kristen says if anyone comes looking for her, the house has plenty of rooms. Kristen says she wants to be left alone and if people would mind their own business, none of this would be happening. Abigail brings up finding a whole wing of the house that’s locked off so she asks if Sarah or Steve and Kayla are in there. Kristen says it’s her bedroom and she has the only key. Kristen adds that she didn’t want to wake up in the middle of the night with Abigail looming over her. Abigail argues that she can’t keep them here forever. Kristen says she wouldn’t be so sure about that.

Gwen uses Abigail’s phone to text Chad back, saying she’s sorry but she can’t help him.

Chad receives the message and responds with a warning that if they harm Abigail, he will find them and kill them even if they are family. Chad then tosses his phone as Shawn walks in and asks what’s going on.

Gwen says to herself that she’s sorry as she can’t do anything to help Abigail now. Gwen then puts Abigail’s phone down and smashes it.

Shawn reads the text that Chad sent and doesn’t think threatening to kill them is very helpful. Chad complains that he needs whoever it is to let them know they aren’t getting away with this. Shawn feels he should’ve let the police reach out to Abigail’s kidnapper. Chad argues that they won’t tell where Abigail is anyways. Shawn argues that they could’ve worked out a strategy. Shawn says he went back to the airstrip to interview workers and tried to look at the security footage but it’s gone, like someone is trying to cover up their tracks. Shawn adds that he left a message for Steve since Brady hired him to try and track down Kristen for information on Philip’s disappearance and now he’s waiting to hear back from him. Shawn asks if Chad can think of anyone else who might know where to find Kristen. Chad says actually, maybe he can.

Gwen continues smashing Abigail’s phone until there’s a knock at the door. Gwen puts Abigail’s broken phone back in to her purse and then answers the door to see Maggie, who asks if everything is alright. Gwen claims everything is fine. Maggie thought she heard some pounding. Gwen claims that she was trying to call house keeping but the line doesn’t work. Gwen tells Maggie that she just missed Xander but she can take a message. Maggie says she just wanted to see how Xander was doing after Sarah showed up and kicked him to the curb again because it must have been very painful for him. Gwen is happy to report that Xander is doing very well as running in to Sarah could have been the best thing to happen to him. Maggie questions why she would say that. Gwen responds that he has finally decided to put Sarah in his rearview mirror and move on as he just proposed to her.

Xander continues looking at his ring for Sarah and flashes back to when he and Sarah proposed to each other.

Sarah finishes her book and calls it the most romantic thing she’s ever read.

Kristen points out that Abigail has barely touched any of the food she’s given her since being here. Abigail doesn’t want to be poisoned. Kristen says she won’t drug her but Abigail questions why she would trust her. Kristen argues that the alternative is to starve. Abigail says the alternative is to let her go. Kristen says if she would’ve minded her own business, she’d be home with Chad and their chidlren right now. Abigail can’t believe she’s blaming her for getting abducted. Abigail asks what she was supposed to do since Sarah is her cousin and reporting is in her blood, like kidnapping seems to be in Kristen’s. Kristen remarks that she was adopted. Abigail says she was raised to be a kidnapper then. Kristen argues that she’s not a monster and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Kristen says she’s made her comfortable here. Abigail responds that she’d be more comfortable at home with Chad and their kids. Kristen points out that she took very good care of Jack in Nashville. Abigail points out that she kept him locked in a warehouse and let his family think he was dead for years. Kristen says he’s alive today because of her. Abigail brings up Haley Chen and says maybe Kristen won’t mean to kill her either, but if she starves to death then it’s on her head. Kristen declares that she will prove that she’s not poisoning anything as she takes a drink and a bite of the food. Kristen asks if Abigail is satisfied now. Abigail thinks back to drugging the drink herself and responds that she is very satisfied.

Maggie is surprised to hear that Xander proposed to Gwen. Gwen says she’s sorry if it hurts her to hear that since she was very invested in Xander and Sarah’s relationship. Maggie mentions not seeing a ring. Gwen explains that it was spur of the moment so he’s out shopping for a ring as they speak. Gwen knows that Xander was very dear to Maggie and she doesn’t approve. Maggie says she didn’t say that. Gwen says she doesn’t have to. Gwen tells Maggie not to hope that Xander and Sarah are going to get back together one day because he has said he’s not waiting for Sarah to come back to him and Sarah made it very clear again that she does not want him. Maggie says she knows because she was there but something was off with Sarah’s visit. Maggie calls it mother’s instinct but Sarah didn’t seem like the Sarah that she knows and loves.

Xander gets his ring and walks out of the town square.

Belle gives EJ a card to use at the commissary and for the phone. EJ tells Belle that he’s grateful for everything she’s done and to have her on his side. EJ adds that she can probably hold on to the phone card because he has no one to call anyway. Belle tells him that he can call her for anything, anytime. EJ thanks her. Chad then arrives. EJ asks what the hell he’s doing here. Chad says he needs to talk to him. EJ says Belle just told him about Abigail missing and he’s very sorry. EJ assures that he doesn’t know anything about what happened to her. Chad says maybe not, but he’s almost certain Kristen does and that EJ has been in contact with her. Chad asks EJ where Kristen is.

Abigail tells Kristen how much she misses her kids, comparing it to Kristen missing Rachel. Kristen asks if Abigail has seen Rachel. Abigail confirms that she has. Kristen asks how she is. Abigail says she’s getting big and mentions seeing her at the mall with Brady and Chloe. Kristen tells her to shut up because of the idea of Chloe. Kristen then starts to feel dizzy. Abigail says it’s about damn time. Kristen asks what she did. Abigail talks about exploring the property and finding some old sleeping pills in a medicine cabinet. Abigail felt Kristen deserved a taste of her own medicine and she put enough in to tranquilize a horse. Kristen then collapses.

Gabi walks outside and runs in to Jake, who says he’s been looking everywhere for her. Jake mentions stopping by the DiMera Mansion but she and Johnny weren’t there. Gabi guesses he just missed them and asks what he’s been up to. Jake says he stopped by Ben’s new place to see him and then stopped at home where he ran in to Ava, but Gabi wasn’t there, as he’s been looking for her. Gabi asks if that’s it. Jake says he’s here now. Gabi calls it a busy day.

Tripp asks Ava if she’s sure she’s fine with him taking the ring instead of wanting it for herself. Tripp brings up Rafe but Ava assures that he won’t have to worry about that. Tripp asks if Ava is okay. Ava says her love life has been spotty and she’s been hurt more times than she can count, but she still believes in happily ever after. Ava tells Tripp that she loves him as they hug. Tripp then exits the house. Ava sits back down and opens her tablet to a photo of her and Rafe. Ava declares that they could’ve had their happily ever after but Rafe threw it all away and now he’ll have to pay for that.

Chanel tells Allie that she wasn’t talking about what happened between them. Allie asks if she’s sure. Chanel says she is and she just meant her divorce, the movie, and needing to get away from Johnny. Chanel promises Allie that this isn’t about them sleeping together right as Johnny appears behind them.

Gwen asks what Maggie means by it not seeming like Sarah. Maggie says they all have flaws but Sarah is very kind and caring, so despite everything that happened, she knows how much Xander meant to her. Maggie says Sarah behaving like that towards Xander was out of character. Gwen suggests Sarah has changed since leaving Salem. Maggie agrees that she hasn’t been acting like herself since the day she took off. Xander comes home and greets them, asking what Maggie is doing there. Maggie says she just stopped by to see how he’s holding up. Xander says he’s doing well and thanks her. Maggie mentions hearing that congratulations are in order since Gwen said they are engaged. Xander confirms they are and thanks her. Maggie will always be sorry that things didn’t work out between he and Sarah, but if Gwen makes him happy then she wishes them both all the best. They thank her as Maggie then exits. Gwen feels Maggie did not mean that.

Sarah states that no one is coming to rescue her, so if she wants to get out of here, she has to do it herself. She puts down her book “Love’s Bitter Harvest”

Steve finds some flare guns in a grill. Kayla hopes they can get the door open. Steve takes her fork which he says he could be their ticket out of here.

Abigail searches Kristen and finds her keys in her pocket.

EJ questions why he would tell Chad anything after he falsely accused him. Chad shouts that he saw it with his own eyes. EJ has no idea what Chad saw. Chad argues that he can’t explain it away. Belle stops them and says none of this matters now as they all care about Abigail and want her home. Belle instructs EJ to help Chad find Abigail if he can do that. EJ confirms that he does care about Abigail as a sister in law and friend but he’s sorry as he hasn’t heard from Kristen in months, so he has no idea where she is. Chad asks if he’s checked any of DiMera’s secret holding properties. EJ says Chad has more information at his fingertips than he does since he has the keys to the DiMera kingdom after railroading him out of his job. Chad argues that Abigail is the victim here, not EJ. EJ reminds Chad that they both know he doesn’t belong here. Chad calls him a criminal and sociopath. Chad hopes EJ stays locked up forever. Belle says this isn’t helping. Chad says he’s just being honest. EJ argues that Chad lied on the stand. Belle informs Chad that they are filing an appeal and will win because EJ is innocent. Chad disagrees. EJ says Chad couldn’t care less that he was wrongly convicted. Chad feels justice has been served as the world is a better place with EJ locked up because no one will ever miss him if he never gets out. Chad then exits.

Xander asks Gwen if it was awkward with Maggie. Gwen admits it was a little. Xander apologizes. Gwen understands it’s probably going to be part of their lives moving forward because he was set to meet the lovely and beautiful Sarah who everyone loved, but instead he’s settling for her. Xander doesn’t care what anyone else thinks as Gwen is everything he could ever want and he knows they belong together. Gwen asks if he’s sure about that. Xander assures that he is and asks her to allow him to prove it.

Steve works on unlocking the door. Kayla worries about Steve injuring himself. Steve tells her not to worry but then ends up stabbing himself with the fork.

Abigail takes Kristen’s keys to a bedroom and enters the room where Sarah was, seeing the book she left behind.

Belle tells EJ that she’s sorry for what Chad said to him. EJ supposes he deserved some of it. Belle points out that he doesn’t deserve to go to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Belle says she will be back to discuss the appeal when he settles in. EJ thanks her for being his lifeline. Belle tells him to hang in there. EJ brings up Rafe possibly being an inmate soon and jokes that them being cellmates would be his worst nightmare. EJ assures Belle that he will be fine.

Chad returns home and gets a call from Shawn, who asks if he saw EJ. Chad thanks him for getting him in there and mentions that Belle was there too working on his appeal but EJ claims to know nothing about Kristen. Chad says it’s hard to tell but thinks it’s a dead end so they are back to square one. Shawn then reveals he may have a lead.

Gwen thought Xander was just going window shopping. Xander says he upgraded to actual shopping. Gwen asks how much it cost and hopes he didn’t have to hawk some precious belongings. Xander reveals that he sold Sarah’s ring and calls it silly that he held onto it as long as he had. Xander is glad to get use out of it and put that part of his life behind him. Xander presents her with the ring which she calls stunning. Xander then gets down on a knee to propose to Gwen. Gwen says yes, so Xander puts the ring on her finger. Gwen calls it perfect and says she loves it so much. Gwen tells Xander that she loves him so much and thanks him for making her the happiest woman as they kiss.

Abigail searches the bedroom. Kristen recovers and finds her in the room, warning that Abigail has been very naughty. Abigail guesses this was Sarah’s room and asks Kristen where she is.

Kayla treats Steve’s wounded hand. Steve jokes that she’s patching him up just like the old days. They kiss until Sarah walks in, shocked to find them.

EJ goes to his prison cell and finds out his cellmate is Clyde Weston!

Young & The Restless Update

Recap written by Christine

Victor ran into Victoria at Society and invited her to join him for breakfast, but she was about to leave. She’d just met with one of her lawyers, and the merger was going smoothly. She was surprised he didn’t override Adam’s choice to hire Sally as his COO. He thought Sally was an interesting choice. Victoria couldn’t figure Victor out these days – he was angry that Adam almost fell for Billy’s ruse, then he made the sale of the company contingent on Adam being left in charge. She added that he’d been upset when she first told him Adam made Sally COO. Victor said he talked to Adam and Sally, and they were persuasive. Victoria didn’t buy it, because there was no way Sally was prepared for the job. She asked what he was really after. He wanted the family to be united. She asked if he thought forcing her and Adam to work together would work. He conceded that Adam made mistakes, but so had everyone else, and he wasn’t going to dismiss Adam for that. He thought Adam did a pretty good job at Newman Media, and Victor believed in Adam.

Sally and Adam were in his office. She told him about some work she’d been doing in preparation for the ChancComm/Newman Media merger. She’d done her research, and she didn’t see much overlap in services that the companies offered. She thought they should offer their existing customers subscription deals and do things to encourage them to subscribe to the new services once the merger was complete. She she felt her idea was genius. He thought it was a good, but simplistic idea, and it made him concerned she’d overlooked the complexity of the merger. She said she wasn’t underestimating anything. She’d already consulted the chief marketing officers of Newman Media and ChancComm, and they were motivated to collaborate. Adam said that was because they’d rather work together than get fired. He thought that they’d have to do some downsizing to remove overlap between the merged companies. He felt they should put a pin in the subscription idea for now. She told him he was wrong. She stared into his eyes and said she wanted to put the numbers in front of him. He got flustered and suggested they go to breakfast so they could focus on this in a public place.

Victoria told Victor that he said he wanted family unity, but his actions sometimes said otherwise. Adam and Sally walked into Society and went up to Victoria and Victor. “Your ears must have been burning,” Victoria said. She congratulated Sally. Adam was sure Victoria had better things to do than talk about him and Sally. Victoria said that was true. Adam explained that he and Sally were here to discuss some of her ideas for Newman Media. Victoria said she and Ashland would love to hear those ideas. Sally said there was no time like the present, but Victoria said she had to go. She suggested that Victor could join Sally and Adam for a family meal, since he loved those. She left. Adam asked what that was about, and Victor said it was nothing for Adam to worry about. Victor asked how Adam and Sally were settling in. Sally had nothing but positive things to say about the job and about Adam’s leadership skills. Victor wanted to speak with Adam alone, so Sally walked away. Victor repeated his request that Adam keep an eye on Ashland. He said he would. Victor thought Sally seemed to be good for Adam. Adam said they had a lot in common – they both dealt with people’s negative expectations and they both loved defying them. He said she’d be an asset to the executive team. He excused himself and went to Sally.

Sally absentmindedly swiped some of Adam’s breakfast, and he playfully called her out for stealing his food. She said she didn’t mean to be a food thief. He said he didn’t mind sharing – he could get used to it. She wasn’t used to having such a big breakfast, so she was thinking of going to the gym to burn energy. He suggestively said he had a better cardio exercise in mind. She quickly called for the check. They went to The Grand Phoenix and got a room. She was impatient with how long it was taking him to figure out the door’s key card. He was just glad they got the room, despite Phyllis’s ban on Sally being here. Once he finally unlocked the door, they began to strip down and get right to it.

Later, Adam and Sally relaxed in bed, and she said he was right – this was better than the gym. He thought she should admit he was right more often. She told him not to get cocky. She brought up work, and he suggested a rule that they put on clothes before talking business. “Since when do we follow the rules?,” she asked. He conceded the point and told her to go ahead. She asked what Victor wanted to talk to him about. He said it was a family thing. She said that with the Newmans, family was business, and as his COO, she’d be in a better position to help him if she knew what was going on. He asked if she got him naked to pump him for information. She didn’t, but she’d keep that in mind for next time. She said trust was important in any working relationship. He confided that Victor asked him to watch Ashland. She asked if he was going to do what Victor asked. He wasn’t sure. The idea of playing Victor’s game kind of bothered him. “Cause it undermines your position. It makes it seem like you wouldn’t be in charge of Newman Media if you weren’t doing Victor’s bidding,” Sally said. Adam thought that was exactly it. He resented Victor for that. “I’m not a chess piece in his game with Victoria and Ashland. I mean I earned my CEO title, and I earned the power that goes with it,” he said. She thought he should look out for himself first, because that was exactly what his father and sister would do. She said not to freak out, but she understood him. He wasn’t freaked out. He leaned over and kissed her.

Victor went home and video chatted Michael. Michael was having a delightful time in Peru, prompting Victor to point out that Michael wasn’t there on vacation. Michael said he knew how to make his job fun. He’d just had a wonderful meal with a doctor who was a former employee of the clinic. This doctor was fired for questioning some of the decisions his bosses made. This doctor had a story about Ashland, which he’d share for a price. “You pay him anything he wants,” Victor said. “I need incontrovertible proof about Locke’s deception,” he said.

Nate met Ashland at Crimson Lights. Ashland had Nate’s favorite drink waiting for him so that they could get right down to business. Nate said he should hire Ashland at the hospital to help him navigate the over-complicated rules and regulations. Ashland said he wouldn’t last two days, because he despised red tape. He asked if Nate was ready for that professional change they’d discussed. Nate said the paper shuffling took his attention from the people he was trying to help. Nate asked how Ashland was. Ashland felt great, but he stayed on the original topic. Ashland hated seeing Nate so unfulfilled. Nate knew the rules at the hospital were important, but he thought it was unnecessarily complicated. Ashland thought if they put Newman’s health care division with Locke’s communication tech, they could make something great, but they needed the right leadership. He said they could globally affect healthcare. Nate thought that was quite the pitch. Ashland said he was very good at looking at the big picture. Ashland had benefited from an extraordinary healthcare system, and Nate had been so caring and useful. Ashland wanted to give back to Nate and enable him to help more people. Ashland told Nate to imagine the changes he could make globally.

Victoria met with Ashland and Nate. Ashland brought Victoria up to speed. Nate wasn’t ready to hang up his stethoscope, but he said Ashland was a master salesman. Victoria said Ashland was used to get to what he wanted, and she felt sorry for people trying to resist his pull. She also said she’d feel bad for the patients at Memorial if he left. Ashland said Victoria was supposed to be on his side. Victoria said Nate was her friend, first and foremost, and she knew he could tackle any path, but he had to be on the right path for him. Ashland really hoped Nate considered his offer. Nate said thanks and left. Victoria asked why Ashland was so intent on convincing Nate to leave the medical field. He thought Nate would be good at it. Victoria thought there had to be more to it, since there were other qualified people for the job. Ashland thought it was best to surround yourself with allies. He trusted Nate implicitly. She asked if he thought he needed more allies. He thought you could never have too many people willing to look out for you. She hoped he considered her an ally. He did, and he always would, but he said they both knew Victor was up to something. She agreed. She was surprised that Victor supported Sally as COO, even though Victoria gave Victor plenty of reason to give Adam a hard time about it, but Victor was all smiles when Adam and Sally walked in. Victoria intended to find out what Victor was up to.

Elena and Nate were at Society. He’d talked to her about Ashland’s job offer. He told her that the last few staff meetings at the hospital had been contentious. Elena was sure that things at Newman Locke would be contentious too. She knew he was friends with Ashland and Victoria, but Ashland was the Locke Ness monster, and Victoria could be cold. Nate saw Elena’s point. He said he saw a bit of competitiveness between Ashland and Victoria earlier. Elena said that could be a problem for Nate if he got caught in the crossfire. Nate was thinking about the good he could do if he Ashland’s pitch was for real. Elena thought Nate had to think long and hard about this, because it’d be a life-changing decision, and he just made one of those.

At The Grand Phoenix, Amanda welcomed Phyllis home from Milan. Amanda was pleased to hear Phyllis was staying in Genoa City. Amanda noticed Jack standing elsewhere in the lobby on his phone. She asked if he was the reason Phyllis was staying. Phyllis said her friendships with Jack, Amanda and Michael factored into her decision. Amanda said long distance friendships worked, but long distance romances were harder. Phyllis had concluded that she wasn’t going to have a romantic relationship with Jack. His friendship was important to her. She wanted to have a romantic relationship with him, but she knew she’d inevitably do something to screw it up. Amanda thought Phyllis was selling herself short, but she wasn’t going to fight Phyllis on this. Jack walked over and said he hoped he wasn’t interrupting. Amanda said she was just catching up with Phyllis. She had an interesting job offer she wanted to share, but her sister was on the way, and she wanted to talk with her first. Amanda went to the lounge. Phyllis asked if Jack received any more mysterious texts. He hadn’t, and he never responded to the first, because he thought someone was playing games, and he wanted no part of it. Phyllis thought Jack had to be curious about the texts. He wasn’t. She was, though, and she asked to see the texts again. He handed her his phone.

Imani arrived and learned that Lily and Billy wanted Amanda to be chief counsel at Chancellor Industries. Imani was thrown that Amanda was considering it, when they’d just opened their own legal firm. Amanda said there was a place for Imani at Chancellor, either on the legal team, or working directly under her. Amanda said when Lily and Billy believed in something, they went all in. Imani was open to it, but she said the decision was Amanda’s to make. Imani thought Amanda needed to answer some hard questions to make her decision. Imani asked if Amanda was responding positively to this offer because it was flattering to be asked. Amanda said that would be superficial and shortsighted of her. Imani asked if Amanda was playing it safe because of the risk of going solo. Imani noted that Amanda left ChancComm because she said she was interested in trial work, so why go back to corporate? Amanda said she left ChancComm more because she needed time to take Sutton down. The work would be more varied at Chancellor, whereas at ChancComm, it was all media related. Heading up the legal team at a massive conglomerate would never get boring. Billy and Lily were great bosses, and the perks and pay were top notch. Most importantly, Amanda would still be able to work with Imani.

Billy came downstairs, and Lily mentioned that she’d been up for hours working. He said he woke up around 2:48, as usual and did a lot of work then. He was warming up to the idea of doing a podcast. He was interested in helping people overcome adversity, and he wouldn’t have to share anything private – all the adversity he’d faced was already public knowledge. She loved that he was excited about this idea, but she didn’t want it to cut into his COO time. He said it only took an hour a day, and the emotional release he got from it gave him more energy at work. She said she did like seeing the fire in his eyes. He knew that tapping into his subconscious could be scary, but he’d faced many demons, and he felt like he was finally finding the goodness underneath the trauma. He’d spent far too long looking at everything that was wrong in his life, and he was finally seeing the things that were right. He felt whole and well, and he thought people would connect with that. She thought that was a valuable experience to share. Smiling, she asked what if she wasn’t ready to share her COO with the public.

Amanda and Imani went to Billy and Lily’s and accepted the job offer. Billy talked about the perks of working for Lily at Chancellor. Amanda asked if there was a ledge to scream off of, and Billy said they could make it happen. Imani didn’t say anything, but she clearly took note of this exchange. Billy promised things would never be boring. Amanda said it never was when Billy was around. Imani planned to work her butt off. They all sat down to talk. Lily wanted to create a legal template for the work they were going to do with the creative teams when they teamed up with Hamilton Winters. Amanda said they had to make sure the company got ownership of the IP. Lily disagreed, because it was counter to their mission to take ownership of their creative’s intellectual property. She wanted to have a template that was beneficial for both sides. Amanda smiled at Imani and said she told her this job would keep them on their toes.

Imani and Amanda went to Society. They noted that they needed to get out of their lease for the office space and find lawyers to take their clients. Imani felt good about this move, and she said she wouldn’t have had this opportunity if it weren’t for Amanda. Amanda thought Imani had more than proven herself as a sound, talented legal mind. Amanda wouldn’t have started a practice with Imani if that weren’t true. Imani asked if there was history between Amanda and Billy. Amanda asked why Imani thought so. Imani just picked up on a dynamic earlier. Amanda said she and Billy were just friends who’d helped each other through some rough patches. Imani thought Billy seemed interesting.

Billy told Lily that she did a good job adding Amanda and Imani. He loved the way she handled the content agreement. He thought her insecurities about the job seemed long gone. She was feeling confident, and she thought she had this under control. They kissed.

Recap written by Christine

At the Grand Phoenix lounge, Chloe and Chelsea met to practice their pitch before seeing Lauren. Chelsea wasn’t feeling confident, so Chloe gave her a pep talk. Chelsea said that this wasn’t just a business deal, it was the start of a new beginning, and she needed to make it stick. Chloe thought it’d help if Chelsea took shots at Sally during the meeting, because Lauren had more issues with her than Chelsea did.

At Society, Jack showed Lauren pictures of Harrison learning to ski. Summer had been worried, but Kyle found the perfect instructor to teach the boy. Jack felt like he was missing out on so much. They talked about Phyllis possibly moving to Italy. Lauren said Jack was acting nonchalant, but she suspected he was hoping Phyllis turned the job down and stayed in Genoa City. Jack thought Phyllis should do what made her happy. Lauren asked why Jack was being so coy about his opinion. She said she’d be sad if Phyllis moved, though she’d understand why Phyllis needed a change. He vowed to support Phyllis no matter what, but he admitted he’d miss her if she left. He missed her now, even though she hadn’t been gone long. Lauren thought they were making progress, now that Jack was admitting he had feelings for Phyllis. He said his feelings for Phyllis were complicated and deep. She asked what he’d say if Phyllis walked in right now. He saw no reason to say anything, since that wasn’t happening. Lauren gestured toward the door, and Jack saw a smiling Phyllis walk in.

Phyllis just flew in, but she couldn’t sleep, due to jetlag. She wondered if she was interrupting a business meeting. Jack said he and Lauren were just catching up. Lauren had a meeting soon. At that moment, Chelsea and Chloe walked in. Everyone started chatting about Chelsea and Chloe’s business plans, and Phyllis approved when she learned that Sally was no longer in the picture. Phyllis heard Chelsea was staying at her hotel. “So, you got rid of Adam, you got rid of Sally. All that toxicity out of your life, good for you,” Phyllis said.

Lauren, Chelsea and Chloe went to their table and made their pitch. Chelsea showed off her sketches. Lauren asked what name they were thinking of using. Chelsea said they were leaving Chelsea 2.0 behind even though it was successful. Chloe said they were leaning toward Bella Milconno, the names of their kids. Lauren was impressed with the presentation, and she couldn’t wait to see what Chelsea and Chloe brought to Fenmore’s. Chloe said family gatherings would be so much smoother, because things would’ve been awkward if she’d turned them down. Lauren didn’t even think about that when she made her decision. Chelsea was glad to have this chance to rebuild her life. She said she was going to prove herself to Lauren. Lauren said if she didn’t think Chelsea had changed, they wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Phyllis told Jack her trip was wonderful, challenging and enlightening. It was great spending so much time with Summer, Kyle and Harrison. Initially, the job offer was intimidating to her. He didn’t buy that, because she was never intimidated by anything. He asked if she was taking the job. She said she’d have to be fluent in Italian, and she’d be overseeing a bunch of young hotshots and she’d be immersed in the fashion industry. He was sure she could do it. She knew she could, but did she want to? He noted that she’d been saying there was nothing tying her to Genoa City. She knew she’d been saying that, but she forgot that Genoa City was her home, and it made her who she was. She asked if she wanted to go to Milan and change who she was. He said that he’d wanted to tell her all those things before she left, but he figured she had to learn that for herself. He asked if she was going to stay. Phyllis loved the thought of working with her daughter, but she loved her life here, and she was staying. Working for a big fashion house wasn’t her dream, it was her daughter’s dream. Jack was glad to hear Phyllis was staying. He asked if she wanted to have that dinner now, and she said yes. As Lauren left the restaurant, she looked at Phyllis and Jack and smiled.

Phyllis gushed about how cute Harrison was. She wondered if he got his charm from his Grandpa. Jack said she didn’t have to flatter him to get what she wanted. She asked what she wanted. He thought she wanted dessert. After dessert, he offered to give her a ride home. He got a random text from an LA area code. It was just an address. He thought it was the wrong number, and he sent a message saying so. While Phyllis was getting their coats, he got another text. “No. This message is for you, Jack Abbott. You need to go to Los Angeles.” Jack asked why and who this person was. “Something you’ve been missing,” was the reply.

Rey met Abby at Crimson Lights. He was a bit surprised she reached out with everything going on with Dominic. She said they got good news – Devon was a perfect bone marrow match. There was nothing else she could do about that tonight, so she wanted to talk about Chance and the stakeout. She’d asked Chance what happened, and he said he wasn’t ready to go back to work. Abby sensed there was more to it, and she wanted Rey to tell her what happened that night. Rey didn’t feel comfortable breaching his partner’s trust. Abby understood that, but as Chance’s wife, she wanted to help, and she couldn’t do that if she didn’t know what was coming on. All Rey was comfortable saying was that it became clear to him and Chance that Chance wasn’t ready. Abby thought Chance didn’t open up because he didn’t want to burden her, but he could never be a burden, and keeping everything inside was the worst thing he could do. She urged Rey to talk to Chance, cop to cop, and convince him that he didn’t have to pretend everything was okay for his family’s sake.

Chance went back to the alley where he’d been on the stakeout. He flashed back to what happened that night. He’d had a panic attack when he heard breaking glass, and he never left his hiding spot to provide backup. Rey returned and said another officer got the perp. Chance had castigated himself because he’d choked, and Rey’s assurance that it was fine didn’t help. Chance said it was just like in Spain – his team needed him, and he let them down. Rey said this was nothing like Spain – no one got hurt. “You didn’t fail. You just came back too soon. You’re not ready to be on the job yet,” Rey said. Chance felt like he never would be. He apologized and left.

After Chance relieved the stakeout in the alley, he went home and saw Abby and Rey in the living room. Chance asked about the baby – he was sleeping. Chance was anxious for Dom to get the procedure. Abby asked where Chance went. Chance wanted to know what Rey was doing here. Abby said that she asked Rey about the stakeout. Chance testily asked what Rey said. Rey said he didn’t say much, because it wasn’t his place. Abby asked Chance to open up to Rey, then she left the room. Chance was angry Rey talked to Chance’s wife about him behind his back. Rey said he and Abby were both concerned. Chance snapped that he was fine, and he told Rey to go deal on his own family and let Chance deal with his. “My house is in order, partner. Yours is not,” Rey replied. When Chance argued against that, Rey pointed out that, even with a sick baby, Abby tracked him down and asked him to help Chance. Chance said Abby shouldn’t have come to Rey. Rey asked why Chance wouldn’t open up to Abby. Chance said Abby was already dealing with too much, because of the baby, and he didn’t want to add this to her plate. Rey said that Abby and Chance were in this together, and it was all one big plate. Chance said Rey didn’t understand. “I understand that if you don’t open up to her, she’s not gonna be in the picture at all,” Rey said. Rey told Chance to tell Abby what she was feeling, because she could help. Rey thought that if Chance kept suppressing his feelings, he’d explode.

Chance thought Rey and Abby were making too much of this. Rey disagreed. He knew that Chance had seen things most people couldn’t imagine, but whatever happened in Spain was too traumatic for one person to handle alone. Chance insisted he was handling it. Rey said that this was going to keep impacting Chance’s health until he dealt with it. Chance appreciated Rey’s concern, but this was between him and his wife. Rey agreed, and he said Abby needed to be part of this. “She needs all of you, man. Not just some hollowed out shell of what you used to be,” Rey said. Rey thought Chance needed to do a lot of work before he came to the force, and part of that included letting his guard down with his wife. Abby returned, and Rey left.

Chance told Abby that he didn’t want to stress her out, so he was trying to keep this away from her. She said she loved him, and she was going to worry, especially when he shut down. Her imagination was conjuring up all kinds of things about the stakeout because she didn’t know the truth. He was sorry. She didn’t want him to apologize or feel guilty. She reminded him that, the other day, he said they needed to lean on each other and do what was best for Dominic, which meant doing what was best for them. She wanted him to lean on her and let her be strong for him. He said it wasn’t that easy. She knew he wanted to handle this on his own, and she tried to step back and respect that, but things were getting worse, and she didn’t know what the next few months would look like for them and their son, but they were only going to get through this if they were a united front.

Chance told Abby that, as soon as he got to the stakeout, he pretended everything was okay, but it wasn’t. He’d felt tense and the fear rising up in him. He was reliving Spain. He spiraled and thought he was putting Rey and the others in danger and that he could get them killed, just like in Spain. He heard a loud noise, and he froze. He couldn’t back up his partner or do anything else. It scared the hell out of him. Abby hated that Chance went through that, but she was really glad he told her. She was adamant that he was strong and brave, but she said his family needed him to find a way to cope so he could heal, and they needed him to do it now.

Chelsea and Chloe went to Crimson Lights after their meeting. Chelsea wanted to get to work right away. While Chloe was placing orders, Chelsea looked over and saw Rey sitting in the booth. She remembered the time she dreamed that he kissed her. In reality, Rey approached Chelsea and asked why she was so excited when she came in. she told him about the business deal. He was glad her hard work paid off, and he thought it was great that she was out of Newman Media, away from Adam. He thought Chelsea should be proud of herself, and he knew Connor would be. He went to his table, and Chelsea and Chloe talked. Kevin got overwhelmed with the kids, and Esther was out with friends, so Chloe had to go home. Chelsea invited Rey to join her, and he did.

Recap written by Christine

Victoria was pleasantly surprised when Victor dropped by the office. She asked what brought him by, and he asked if he needed a reason to visit his beautiful daughter and the company that bore his name. She assumed he was really there to ask if she knew about Ashland financing the company in Peru that developed his treatment. She said Ashland already told her. “So you’re realizing that he lied to you,” Victor replied. Victoria didn’t understand why Victor was scrutinizing Ashland’s treatment after he said he’d stop digging in Ashland’s past. It felt like a betrayal to her. He was actually there to ask how things were going with the merger. She said things were proceeding as expected, and Adam had been on his best behavior so far.

Victoria informed Victor that Adam made Sally his new COO. “Who the hell is she? What does she know about running a company?,” Victor snapped, then he griped about Adam making this decision without talking to him first. Victoria suggested that Ashland wasn’t the one Victor should be focusing on. Victor wondered if Adam was out of his mind, and he left. Victoria smirked. Ashland was in the hallway, and he got a text that said the American was still digging around the clinic. When Ashland walked in, Victoria said Victor claimed he wasn’t on a fishing expedition about Ashland. Ashland thought Victor was lying. Victoria said she turned the tables on Victor by refocusing him on Adam and his new accomplice, Sally. Victoria was beginning to wonder if things weren’t as solid between Adam and Victor as they both wanted her to believe.

Ashland thought that Victor still trusted Adam, since Victor insisted that Adam retain his position at Newman Media. Victoria suggested that Victor kept Adam in place so she could keep an eye on him. She said that Victor wanted to believe Adam could be trusted, but Victor knew it was a recipe for disaster. Ashland asked why Victor would give Adam power in the first place. “Maybe he wants Adam to learn his lesson from the best,” Victoria said. Ashland laughed and said Victoria really knew her father. Victoria said she’d been Victor’s pawn, his rook and even his queen. She’d watched Victor and she knew far more about how he played the game than Adam ever could. Ashland thought it’d be a grave mistake to underestimate Adam. Ashland didn’t think Adam played the game on Ashland and Victoria’s level. However, Adam didn’t like taking orders from them, and he wouldn’t sit back and accept his fate. “It’s not a question of if Adam is going to make his move. It’s when,” Ashland said.

Victoria said Adam was nothing but trouble, and she only kept him on to appease Victor. But once paperwork was done, and the merger was final… Ashland picked up where Victoria left off. He noted that there was nothing in the paperwork that said how long Adam had to stay, just a provision that there had to be due cause for his dismissal. Ashland smiled about Adam giving them just cause to fire him. Victoria suggested that, instead of waiting or Adam to screw up, they made sure that he did. Ashland smiled.

Victoria was relieved Ashland was on board. In the past, people had tried to stop her from doing something like this. He said they had to be careful, because it wouldn’t go well if Victor found out they were trying to undermine his son. Ashland said that once Adam and Sally were out, he’d be happy to oversee Newman Media again. She said it was a larger version of his former company. “I am quite used to maintaining a strong hand over everything I control,” Ashland said. “Everything you control?,” Victoria bristled. She pointed out that it wasn’t just his company – it belonged to both of them. He said he misspoke. “I was used to maintaining a strong hand in all I ever owned,” he corrected himself, but she still seemed guarded. He promised he was on her side, despite a slip of the tongue. She wanted to believe him, but his last confession had her a bit wary. He was sorry he didn’t tell her he financed the clinic in Peru. It was a stupid mistake, and he regretted it. He told her not to let her father sow seeds of doubt. “Adam is the untrustworthy one,” he stated. His phone rang, and he had to take it. He said he loved her and left. She still looked suspicious.

Adam was at his office. He picked up a cup off the floor and flashed back to his moment of passion with Sally. Sally was outside the door, and she also had a flashback. She knocked, and he said to come in. He wasn’t expecting it to be her, since he said she rarely locked. She said they fraternized and crossed many lines. He asked if she regretted it. She did not. He wanted her to relax, since nothing had changed except that they no longer had to pretend they didn’t want to rip each other’s clothes off. She disagreed; she said being together yesterday didn’t put water on the flames, it put gasoline on the flames. She said that things were going to be hot, and they’d stay that way when they were around each other. He said their valentines day celebration had a rare intensity – something you’d find in an earthquake. He said she wouldn’t believe how long it took to clean the office. She noted that there were aftershocks after an earthquake. He looked forward to it. She said when they ran into Chelsea, they were careful to hide the fact that things had progressed between them, but it was hard to hide something like this. He thought that was a good point. She asked how they were going to handle this. She also asked what “this” was.

Adam wanted to hear Sally’s opinion. Sally didn’t regret what happened. He said what happened was was spectacular. She just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a once-in-a-lifetime event. He thought they both knew it wasn’t just a casual hookup. He’d finally let go enough to be ready for this. “I want to be with you,” he revealed. He asked how she felt. She didn’t want to sneak around and be his dirty little secret. He didn’t want that either. He respected her too much to think of her like that. He thought about her last night, and he couldn’t get her off his mind. He’d thought of the way she smiled at her when she walked into the door without permission, the way that they did everything they could not to touch each other. He leaned in close to her and said he couldn’t think of any reason he’d want to keep her a secret. “I can,” said Victor, who’d walked in at some point.

Sally rushed away from Adam and picked up a name plate they’d knocked off the desk earlier. She tried to convince Victor that he’d misheard what he’d just heard. Victor told Adam that they were in a sensitive place, due to the merger, and they didn’t need distractions. Sally asked if Victor thought she was a distraction. Adam thought Victor owed Sally an apology. Victor addressed Sally and said she was more than an innocent distraction. He thought she’d had quite the career, from dress maker to Chief Operating Officer of a major company. He asked how she did it. She said the job offer took her by surprise as well, and only a fool would turn it down. Victor thought that only a fool wouldn’t realize they were punching way above their weight. Adam was confident in Sally’s abilities. He said she started a fashion house from the ground up and revived her aunt’s brand. Victor referenced a debacle at Forrester Creations and Sally’s duplicitous actions against his granddaughter. Adam said no one in this room had clean hands. Sally thanked Adam, but she said she could handle this.

Sally wouldn’t spend her life apologizing for the past. Victor assumed she had no regrets. That wasn’t what she meant. She said she made a move to get what she thought she deserved, and she was sorry people got hurt, but Summer landed on her feet. She said she’d turn Newman Media into a company people would pay attention to. Not because she had a bunch of degrees but because she’d spent her life making people sit up and notice her. She could do this. Victor wanted to talk to Adam alone, so Sally left.

Adam hoped Victor was satisfied Sally was the right choice. Victor was dissatisfied he wasn’t consulted first. Adam was frustrated that he now had to check in with Victoria and Victor. He said Victoria was counting the minutes until he failed, and it was clear Victor didn’t trust his judgment. He wondered if it was a mistake to stay at Newman Media. Victor said they hadn’t even finalized the merger. Adam was done justifying hiring Sally. “You’re really attached to this dress-maker aren’t you?,” Victor replied. Adam said Sally was more than that. Adam knew Victor had reasons to be suspicious, but Victor had only seen one side of Sally. Victor chuckled and guessed that Adam had seen all sides of Sally. Adam said that Sally wasn’t this self-serving mercenary; she was the right person for the job. Victor said he wouldn’t stand in the way as long as Sally was a team player and showed she could do the job.

Victor had a more pressing issue to deal with. He revealed that he’d never fully trusted Ashland. He said there were inconsistencies regarding the cancer treatment. Adam asked why Ashland would pretend to get better, unless he was trying to give Victoria hope. Victor didn’t think Ashland would do that, since Victoria had accepted his diagnosis before they got engaged. Adam suggested Ashland was pretending to be strong so that he could stay in the game. Victor instructed Adam to be vigilant with Ashland and report to Victor if he saw any contradictions in what Adam did. Adam said Ashland made it clear he hated that Adam was staying on and that he was keeping Adam on a short leash. Victor said that if Adam was on a short leash, he’d have a vantage point on how Ashland operated and whom he communicated with. Adam wondered if this was some kind of family loyalty test. “Are you hoping that I will decline your request to spy on Victoria’s husband, to prove that I won’t betray her?,” he asked. “If you love your family and your sister, you’ll do as I say,” Victor replied.

Sally returned after Victor left and asked if she needed to clean out her desk. Adam assured Sally that she was still COO. She wanted to shout it from the rooftops. He thought they should let PR handle that. She asked how Victor felt about her in-your-face stance. While Victor would never admit it, Adam could tell he was impressed. Sally said thanks for defending her. Adam was in awe, because not many people were brave enough to go toe to toe with Victor. She admitted she was internally shaking like a leaf. He didn’t notice, and he thought her outwardly cool demeanor was proof she was going to succeed. Sally wondered if Victor was going to try and sabotage her. Adam admitted Victor had done such things in the past, but he didn’t think it would happen this time, because Victor had something bigger to contend with. She asked if it was something good or bad. “Something interesting,” he replied.

Nick dropped by the ranch for a visit, and Nikki was surprised because it’d been awhile. She’d been wondering if he was avoiding his father. He said he and Victor were getting along lately. She mentioned that Victor was at Newman Locke. Nick assumed Victor went by to remind everyone who was still in charge. Nikki said Victor was an important part of the company, and he was there as an advisor. Nick thought it was inevitable that Adam and Victoria would fight, and neither of his siblings fought fair. He was concerned Nikki would get caught in the crossfire.

Nikki said she’d survived mergers, hostile takeovers etc. so she could handle sibling rivalry. She thought she might be able to even defuse a few situations before it got heated. Nick was there if Nikki needed to talk. Nikki said she’d never drag Nick into the corporate madness he’d escaped, especially when she saw how happy the choice made him. He was fired up about the work New Hope was doing. She was glad he was working with Noah and that he’d made peace with Victor, Victoria and Adam, to an extent. He said he was working hard to get along with everyone, even though they rarely made it easy. She noticed he seemed lost on the holidays, but his trip to see Summer helped. He said that spending time with Noah, Faith, Summer and Christian kept him on track. When he felt lost, he had four amazing reset buttons.

Nick told Nikki about Mariah and Tessa’s engagement party that Sharon threw and their plans to adopt a child. Nikki said she already knew because Faith always told her everything. Nikki smiled because soon she’d be able to call Sharon “Granny.” Nick wished Cassie would’ve gotten a chance to experience what Mariah was. Nikki said Cassie would always be with Nick, and she’d want him to celebrate the wonderful things coming his way. She said one day he’d have so many grandchildren he’d have to add a wing to the house. He thought that sounded awful. They shifted gears. Nikki knew who and what Victor was every time she married him, and she adored him, but there had been another entity in their marriage. Nick knew Nikki meant Newman Enterprises. She said Newman Enterprises was a part of all of them, even Nick, even though he chose another path. She wished Victor had been able to find a way to keep the family together through the company.

Nikki didn’t disparage Victor’s love for his family – his devotion had always been unparalleled. Nick said family was always Victor’s priority, but family and the business had always been intertwined. Nick said that he loved working with Noah, but if Noah wanted to quit, Nick would say he just wanted him to be happy. Nikki knew Victor had struggled with that. Nick said Victor always had something to keep him sane – Nikki – the love of his life. Nikki agreed she and Victor had something special. She said not every relationship was meant to last forever. Nick assumed Nikki was talking about his relationships. She admitted she wasn’t disappointed some of his relationships didn’t last. She wished him every happiness though. He said he was in a great place with the kids and New Hope. Victor came in and was happy to see Nick. Nick wanted to know about the merger. He asked if it was a good move to force Victoria and Adam to work together.

Victor was surprised Nick cared about the family business he walked away from. Nick said he left the business, not the family. Victor said that if Nick wanted to keep the peace between his siblings, there was a place for him at the business. Nick appreciated that, but he wasn’t coming back. He was more concerned about Victoria getting hurt than about the welfare of the business. Victor was glad to hear that, but he was keeping a keen eye on the business. Nick sensed there was a larger play in the works.

Recap written by Christine

Lily got Dominic a onesie that said Jazz Baby on it, and she gave it to Amanda at the penthouse. Lily asked how things were with the baby, and Amanda said they were still waiting on the test results. Lily asked how the law practice was going. Amanda said it was going well, but slow. That was why she was home today. At first, there were so many clients they had to turn people away, but that had ended. They’d need more clients if they were going to be able to pay for the office space. She wasn’t overly concerned yet, because Imani had a lot of connections, and they had friends and family who’d agreed to send business their way. Lily asked if Sutton’s cronies would want to work with the lawyer who helped bring him down. Amanda got defensive, because she thought it sounded like Lily was trying to make her have doubts about her firm. Lily just thought Amanda should cast a wider net. Amanda was open to that. Lily said she was looking for representation.

Amanda asked if there was an issue with Lily’s contract. Lily’s contract was fine; Jill gave her everything she asked for, and she supported Lily’s vision for the company, even though her method was less traditional. Amanda was glad, because that wasn’t always the case. Amanda’s partner in Madison was stuck in his ways, and it was frustrating. That was why Amanda was trying not to be rigid with Imani. Lily said that there were senior execs at Chancellor who were resistant to change. Someone resigned that Lily had hoped to promote to division head. They talked about Amanda working with Lily and Billy at ChancComm. Lily wanted Amanda to work with them again at Chancellor Corporate. Amanda was flattered, but the timing wasn’t right. Lily said she was asking Amanda to be her new chief counsel, in charge of all of Chancellor’s legal operations. Amanda was caught off guard because that was a senior level executive role. Lily thought Amanda was more than qualified after her work at ChancComm. Amanda said that was a small division of a larger corporation, and Chancellor was international.

Amanda didn’t understand why Lily didn’t promote one of the Chancellor lawyers with decades of experience. Lily said no one had decades of experience in the areas she wanted to focus on. Lily wanted to do things that didn’t exist five years ago, like the podcast project Billy and Devon were working on. Lily wanted to work with people who’d grown up with advanced technology. Lily felt that working at ChancComm was the perfect preparation for what she was doing now. ChanComm always did stories about business and tech and now she was in the position to make sure ChancComm didn’t miss out on that. She wanted a strong team behind her, with people like Amanda, who were smart, capable and forward looking.

Chance was at home. He got a phone call that he ignored. He flashed back to the stakeout in the alley. He’d had a panic attack that rendered him unable to back Rey up. Abby walked in, snapping Chance back to the present. He asked how Dom was, and she said he was still lethargic. She was thankful he was there for her to lean on and that this didn’t happen while he was away on his mission. She said when he held her, he made her feel that their baby would be okay. She wondered if they should wake the baby up and let him eat. He thought they should let Dom rest. He asked if she was having any second thoughts about not telling her family. She didn’t want to say anything until they had answers. She said she didn’t want to worry anyone unnecessarily. She had all the support she needed from him, but she said she wouldn’t be offended if he needed to reach out to someone else. She asked if he told Rey. He said he told Rey about taking Dom to the doctor. “And that’s why he understood that you had to leave [the stakeout] early?,” she asked. Thanks to a phone call, Chance didn’t have to answer Abby’s question.

Nate called to say that he and another doctor were coming over to personally explain the results. Chance was surprised by the house call. Abby said that if this was good news or something minor, they would’ve been told over the phone. She mentioned that they should call Devon. Chance put a positive spin on it and said they were going to get answers and get Dominic the help he needed.

Devon met Billy at Society. Billy asked about Dom and empathized with how hard it was to have a sick child. He brought up the time Delia had leukemia and needed a bone marrow donor. Devon said he’d have to cut this meeting short if Abby, Chance or the hospital called. They started the meeting, and Devon was very impressed with the caliber of Billy’s presentation. Billy said he put it together last night. Devon recalled that Billy had been up a lot lately, and he asked if Billy ever slept. He said he’d sleep when he was old. Devon was sure Lily wouldn’t want Billy running himself into the ground. Billy said it wasn’t a big deal, and he was getting his best work done at night. He was working from home, so he got to sneak in a nap every so often. He said he let Lily listen to some thoughts he recorded, and it sparked an interesting conversation about life. Devon thought this sounded like a midlife crisis without the crisis. Billy said he was happy with where he was, and he’d do everything he could to keep it that way. One of Billy’s favorite ideas was a Q&A feature. Devon liked the idea too. He’d found a lot of help on parenting blogs. Billy joked that he’d start his own midnight podcast. Devon actually thought that was a good idea and that it might help people have the sort of deep conversations that Billy’s recording caused him and Lily to have. Nate called Devon to the Chancellor mansion, so he left.

Devon called Amanda from the Chancellor place with an update. She asked if he wanted her to join him, and he said no because it wouldn’t take too long. Abby came downstairs and hugged Devon. He thought it was a good sign that the doctors were coming here instead of telling them to rush Dom to the hospital. Nate and Dr. Alston arrived. Dominic didn’t have leukemia, but he had a serious rare blood disorder that needed to be addressed now before his bone marrow failed. He needed a bone marrow transplant. In the best case scenario, the transplant would lead Dominic to start making healthy bone marrow and red blood cells. Abby assumed she and Devon were compatible, since they were the biological parents. Nate explained that it was rare for a family member other than a sibling to be fully compatible, but Abby and Devon should still get tested, since they’d at least be half matches, since Dominic got half his genetic material from both of them.

Dr. Alston said that some people had gotten donations from their half-match parents. Chance assumed there would be complications if a half match was used. The doctor confirmed it wasn’t ideal. Devon wanted to be tested as quickly as possible, and Nate said he and Dr. Alston would go set things up. Abby wanted to go too. Abby thanked the doctors for explaining things. Dr. Alston assured everyone that there was real hope for Dominic to live a happy and healthy life. The guests left. Chance wanted to drive Abby to the hospital, but she said she wanted to go by herself. She wanted Chance to be home in case Dominic woke up and wanted his dad. She implored him to say everything would be okay, and he comforted her.

After Abby left Rey visited Chance. Chance told him the news on Dom. Rey could relate because Lola and Faith both needed a transplant once. He knew how terrifying it was to wait for a match to be found. He said he and Sharon would pray for Dom. Rey would also tell Paul, so no one would expect Chance at work. Chance wanted to explain what happened at the stakeout, and Rey said it wasn’t necessary. Abby returned as Chance insisted on apologizing for letting Rey down. Rey gave Abby his support, and he left. Chance asked how things went at the hospital. She said she’d find out soon if she was a match. Abby overheard what Chance said to Rey. He said he was just apologizing for leaving the stakeout, because it was poor form. Abby asked if something specific happened to make him realize he wasn’t ready to be there. He said she was right – it was too soon for him to go back to work. He didn’t want her to worry about him, when she had more important things to worry about right now. Dr. Alston called. Abby was only a half match, as expected. She asked what about Devon.

Amanda was having a hard time waiting for news on Dom. Lily said they could talk about the job offer as a distraction. Amanda now understood how the persuasive Lily was able to convince Billy to be her second in command. At first, Amanda didn’t think Billy’s pride would allow him to do that, especially since Billy and Lily were on equal footing at ChancComm. Lily said he turned her down the first couple times, but she gave him space and let him find his own path. At first, he was focused on revenge, but he realized he was letting his ego get in the way of a great opportunity. She said she and Billy fought less now that there was a clear chain of command. When Billy brought Lily something and she wasn’t sold on it, he’d make revisions or let it go. He was excited about transforming Chancellor, and they were having a lot of fun. Amanda knew Billy and Lily would do amazing things together. Amanda was impressed Billy had grown so much he could embrace a supporting role, but the idea of giving up her new practice… Lily insisted that Amanda come with her before finishing that thought.

Lily and Amanda went to Lily’s place. Billy was excited because he thought Amanda was joining the team. Lily thought Amanda should hear from Billy because he was hesitant at first, but glad he took the job. Billy said the vibe at Chancellor was electrifying, and the entire team was ready to revitalize the business. Amanda thought it sounded like the ideal work environment. Billy said Amanda would have more autonomy, a bigger office and paycheck. Amanda said that she couldn’t just walk out on her sister. Lily said there was a place for Imani at Chancellor. Billy stated that Imani could do entertainment law, or corporate lobbying, or Amanda could be her mentor at Chancellor. Amanda said they were making it really hard to say no. Amanda went to talk to Imani.

Billy said that Amanda would be great for Chancellor, and she’d also be helpful if he was tempted to cross a line again. Lily laughed and said she hoped Billy’s days of doing that were behind him. Billy confirmed he was just kidding. She asked about his meeting with Devon, and he said it went well. She hoped everything was okay with Dom. Devon loved the baby so much, and if anything was seriously wrong… Billy noted that Dom’s cousin was a head honcho at Memorial, and his grandfather was Victor Newman, so he’d get the best care possible.

Lily saw the graphic Billy made for his pitch to Devon. She asked about the thing that said Midnight Musings. He said he and Devon were joking about Billy making his own podcast based on the late night ramblings. He’d put it on the graphic because he thought Lily would get a kick out of it. Lily actually loved the idea of Billy having a podcast. Billy said it was just a joke, but Devon liked the idea too. Devon had reasoned Billy wasn’t the only one up at night philosophizing with a scotch in his hand. She said that it’d be easy to get sponsorships from liquor companies. He wasn’t interested in pouring his heart out for people to hear and judge. She didn’t think he should be so quick to shoot it down. She said he could stay anonymous. He still didn’t want to do it.

Devon went home, and Amanda was there. She asked if he got her message. He did, but he didn’t call back because he had to go to the hospital. He brought her up to speed on Dominic’s blood disorder. If they couldn’t find a donor, or even if they did, and the transplant didn’t work, Dominic’s life would be a living hell. She thought Dom should have a good chance of finding a match, because he had so many relatives, but he explained that the best chance was a sibling. For a perfect match, they’d need an… “Identical twin. The only instance where two people share same DNA,” Amanda finished Devon’ sentence. Devon said that he and Abby were Dom’s best chance, and since they were likely only 50% matches, that wasn’t optimal, because they might not be able to save the baby. Amanda hugged Devon.

Amanda said they’d find out everything about this disease, and they’d search the globe for donors, if necessary. She promised Devon he wasn’t in this alone – he had her, Lily, Nate, Abby and Chance, and they’d get through this together. The hematologist called, and Devon was elated by what he heard. “I’m a 100% match for Dominic,” he told Amanda, and they hugged.
