Sharon was surprised and elated when Noah and Nick showed up at Crimson Lights. She hugged her son, and he said he was staying in town for awhile because he needed a change of pace and he wanted to visit home for awhile. She decided to take the day off to spend with him. The trio sat down, and Nick said he hadn’t been to the Palazzo since boarding school. Noah raved about the view. Sharon thought it sounded elegant and romantic, and she was sure Nick had a nice time experiencing it with Phyllis. Sharon saw some drama online about the wedding dress. Nick said that Victoria wore a dress designed by Sally. Sharon thought Victoria looked radiant and in love in her pictures. Sharon asked if there was a reason Noah didn’t want to go back to London. She said he might live an ocean away, but he was her son, and she knew him. Nick recalled that Noah didn’t talk very much about himself in Tuscany. Noah said he’d just been worried about Nick. Noah’s parents assured him that he could open up to them. Noah admitted he was starting to feel like he was in a rut in London. Sharon was surprised because Noah always made London sound exciting and fulfilling. Every once in awhile, it was time for a change, Noah said.

Victoria and Ashland were at Newman Enterprises. They did some final work on the merger. He mentioned how the work piled up when one did something crazy. “Like get married?,” she asked, with a smile. She asked if he had any regrets. He didn’t, but he knew he’d given her reasons to. She had zero regrets and she couldn’t love him more if she tried. She didn’t want to hear the names Bobby DeFranco, Camilla Rhodes or Jesse Gaines ever again. It was the past, and all she cared about was their future. All she wanted him to do was focus on fighting cancer. He said she’d be amazed at how much he could handle for her. He kissed her head.

Ashland looked online for any leaks about his past, in case Gaines made good on his threat to expose him before Victor handled the situation. He knew she didn’t want to think about this, but he couldn’t let his guard down. Victoria noted that Victor said he handled it. Ashland trusted Victor, but Victor thought he handled Gaines before, and he still showed up at the wedding with Billy. Victoria said she should’ve had her parents bring the kids instead of Billy. It would’ve saved them so much grief. Ashland said Victoria wasn’t to blame for this. Victoria believed Victor and Adam’s assurances that they’d neutralized the threat. Victoria changed the subject to their honeymoon. Ashland pointed out that they just got back to a mountain of work. She said they’d handle all that, then they’d go away. He loved the way she was forcing him to keep his priorities straight. He told her to pick the most romantic spot on the planet, and he’d make it happen. She said she’d already handled it, and he’d never guess what her honeymoon surprise was.

Tessa woke up and found Mariah on her laptop. Tessa hugged Mariah from behind, and Mariah said she loved her gift. Mariah said so much had changed since Tessa left for Italy. Mariah now saw that it was unfair to make unilateral decisions about their future, springing the idea of having a baby right away on Tessa and expecting Tessa to get pregnant when they’d barely discussed the possibility of having kids. Mariah didn’t know what she was thinking. Tessa was understanding because Mariah was traumatized, but Mariah said that was no excuse for being selfish, and she felt awful about that. Mariah was so sorry. She said nothing mattered more than their relationship. Tessa said she probably should’ve skipped the trip, as Mariah asked her to. Mariah didn’t agree. In fact, she was cringing about even asking Tessa not to go to the wedding. Tessa said that Mariah wasn’t ready for an event like that, and she needed Tessa. Tessa spent most of her time in Tuscany worrying that she’d pushed Mariah away and that Mariah would say they were better off apart. Mariah said she’d never say that. Tessa kissed Mariah’s hand.

Mariah said it had been torture being away from Tessa. Tessa felt the same. Mariah apologized again for impulsively pressing for a baby. She was sure it seemed like she was trying to manufacture a perfect life to avoid dealing with what she’d been through. Mariah now realized she needed to work through being abducted while pregnant. She admitted it affected her in ways she was just beginning to deal with. Tessa told Mariah not to be hard on herself, because it would take time to process this. Mariah knew she had to manage her maternal feelings toward Dominic, and she was working on that. She saw the baby earlier, and it was still a challenge, but after she left, she felt better. She had a conversation with Abby that made her realize that cutting ties wasn’t the way to go about this. It made her miss the baby more. She decided to go with the original plan and be as much a part of the baby’s life as Abby would let her, and if it got too overwhelming, she knew Tessa would be by her side. Tessa said everything Mariah was saying was so smart and strong. She felt like she was falling in love with Mariah all over again. They kissed. Tessa rested her head on Mariah’s lap, and they talked about remaining in this position forever until Mariah realized Tessa hadn’t eaten. Tessa wanted a ropa vieja from Society, and they decided to go to the restaurant.

At Society, Noah asked how Faith was. He knew she had a hard time last year with the mean girls. Sharon was sure Faith would be happy to tell him, but so far, she was having a stellar year. Nick and Sharon commented that Noah kept charmingly deflecting every time they asked him a personal question. Noah saw Mariah and Tessa walk in and seized the opportunity to end the questioning by going over to say hi. Mariah hugged her brother, then Tessa hugged Noah too.

Back at their table, Sharon asked what Noah meant when he said he was worried about Nick in Italy. Nick said he’d been uinvited from the wedding. He explained that Victor and Billy were doing their own investigations into Ashland. Nick also did some digging, and Victoria got mad. Sharon asked if Nick found something concrete or just rumors. He said the details didn’t matter, because Victoria got married anyway, but it changed his relationship with his sister. He went to Italy to make amends, but Victoria felt really betrayed. Sharon said that must have hurt. Nick was still hurt, but he had to hope Victoria would forgive him. Nick said he’d rather talk about their boy though. He sated that Sharon always had a good read on Noah, and he asked what she thought. She and Noah had plenty of conversations about London, and Noah always said he felt like he’d come into his own there. Now he seemed ready to leave it behind, and she thought something must’ve happened to make him feel that way.

Noah wished Mariah was there to see Tessa sing. He said she’d grown as an artist. Tessa said being accompanied by the great Leslie Brooks helped. Mariah saw it because someone posted it online. Mariah asked how long Noah was in town. He wasn’t sure, but he doubted he’d go back soon. She asked what went wrong. He said nothing went wrong. London wasn’t who he was, and he never would be. Genoa City was his home, and he missed his family and friends. Tessa said they missed him too. Noah asked how Mariah was. He couldn’t imagine how terrifying it must’ve been and how difficult it must be now with the baby around. Mariah said it had been tough, but she had a great support system. She took Tessa’s hand. He thought they seemed happy and solid, and he said it was one thing to find love and another to hold onto it. He thought he should get back to his parents. Noah went back to the table, and Sharon waved at Mariah. Tessa was glad the three of them were in a good place and they’d moved on from the past.

Over at the other table, Sharon was glad when Noah said Mariah seemed to be better. Nick said he filled Sharon on in Tuscany. Noah said he tried to play mediator, but it was tense and he kind of hated it. He asked if he could help, and Nick said he had it covered. Nick wanted to talk about Noah and he offered to help him. Noah said he’d figure it out, unless they didn’t want him to stay, he joked. Sharon insisted that Noah was staying, and Nick pretended that he was on the fence. Later, they left, and as they were walking out, Sharon briefly took Mariah’s hands. Mariah wanted to give the teddy bear that Tessa gave her to Dominic, if Tessa didn’t mind. Tessa had a feeling Mariah was going to ask that, and that was part of the reason she bought it. Mariah asked if they should go do that now. Tessa thought Mariah already saw the baby today and said it wasn’t easy for her. Mariah said it wasn’t, but it was a lot easier than it had been. Mariah promised this wasn’t coming from an obsessive place. She just thought the baby would like the bear, and he slept through most of their last visit. Tessa agreed to go. Mariah took Tessa’s hand and they walked out.

Ashley held her grandson and talked with Abby at the Chancellor mansion. Abby said Dominic was an angel and a pretty good sleeper. Ashley recalled that baby Abby would scream every time she left the house. Ashley knew Victor was smitten with Dominic, and she was sure Brad would have been too. Abby admitted the past few days had been rough because she missed Chance, and he was missing out on time with Dominic. It wasn’t fair to the three of them. The situation was maddening. Ashley was sure Chance felt the same way. It was getting harder for Abby to find the silver lining. The assignment had gone on longer than anyone anticipated and there was no end in sight. She didn’t even know what the mission entailed or how much danger her husband was in. Ashley assured Abby that there were so many people who’d drop everything if she needed them. Ashley asked how Mariah was. Abby said she seemed to be doing better. Ashley asked if Abby was worried about Mariah being around the baby after she broke down at the christening. Abby was, but not out of fear for Dominic, but out of concern for Mariah.

Abby jokingly told Dominic not to listen to Grandma’s stories about Mommy being a cranky baby. Ashley assured Abby that it had been worth it. Abby put Dominic in his bassinet, and Christine called. Abby was delighted because there was news about Chance that Christine was coming to deliver in person. After Abby hung up, she wondered what the news was. She was thinking good things, and Ashley cautioned her about getting her hopes up, because Christine might be coming to say the assignment had been extended. Abby said she was only thinking positive thoughts. Ashley just didn’t want Abby to be disappointed. Abby reiterated that she was only thinking positive thoughts.

Abby took some pictures of Dominic for Chance. Christine showed up, and she asked Abby to come sit down. There were reports coming in from the city where Chance was now. Abby asked where he was. Christine couldn’t say. He’d recently been transferred for the final portion of his assignment. The place Chance was got hit by a bomb in the middle of the night, and the state department feared there were no survivors. Abby was sure that was a mistake. She got up and walked around in a daze while Christine told Ashley that she was calling her contacts trying to get verification. Christine told Abby that even if the reports of the explosion were accurate, that didn’t mean Chance was in the building at the time. “He wasn’t. He couldn’t have been,” Abby stated. She was adamant that she would know, and she would feel it if he was.

Lily and Billy were at home on their electronics. She asked if he was upset he deleted the video from Gaines. He was fine with it, since he’d accepted Victoria’s wishes. However, he was surprised Gaines didn’t post it after he’d said he was going to. He thought they needed to focus on the real threat – Victor and Adam. Lily wondered if Victor blatantly threatened Billy as a way to unnerve him. Billy thought Lily was right it wasn’t usual for Victor to show his hand like this. Billy recalled that, at the Newman Media launch, Adam told him that if and when Newman Media went after ChancComm, Billy would never see it coming. Billy thought that made it even more peculiar that, in Tuscany, he overheard Victor telling Adam to devise a strategy. He said Victor wanted them to know he was coming. Lily suggested that Victor wanted to warn them so they could prepare and have a fair fight. Billy thought Lily was right earlier and that Victor wanted to get inside his head and throw them off their game. Lily suggested that Victor wanted them to be focused on an attack against the company as a way to distract them. Lily thought that Victor would love to mess with them, mostly to hurt Billy, but she didn’t think that was his main goal – or Adam’s. She said that if they were so focused on protecting themselves against an attack, they wouldn’t look too closely at something else. “Like Gaines disappearing off the face of the earth,” Billy said. Lily asked if Victor could’ve convinced Gaines to leave Ashland alone. Billy didn’t think so. He thought Lily was on to something and that there was more going on here.

Billy said Gaines Jr. hated Ashland from the minute he showed up and caught the eye of Camilla Rhodes and her attorney, Gaines Sr. Ashland had been showered with love and affection, almost like he was Senior’s son, and Junior felt like a disappointment. Gaines Jr. showed up in Tuscany with a lifetime of anger and bitterness at the man that he felt stole his father from him. Gaines Jr. said he would release the video if ChancComm didn’t, and yet, he hadn’t. Billy didn’t think that Gaines changed his mind. He thought Gaines was stopped from posting it. Billy didn’t think Victor paid Gaines off, since it was about more than money to Gaines. She asked if he was suggesting Victor made Gaines disappear, because that wasn’t really his style. He said maybe not, but he wouldn’t put it past Adam.

Billy said that if Gaines posted the video, it would’ve affected the Newman/Locke merger and Newman Media. Billy was so focused on making sure Victoria knew the truth, that he didn’t think about the hit Ashland’s bottom line would take. Lily said even though it wasn’t about the money for Gaines, it was for the others. Billy said Adam would do the dirty work to impress his father. Billy thought Lily was right – Victor went after them with so much bluster to distract them from looking into how Gaines disappeared and how far Adam would go to do what Ashland needed him to do, and more importantly, what his father wanted him to do. Lily said that if Adam did something to hurt Gaines… Billy said if they got justice for Gaines and stopped Newman Media in their threat, ChancComm would become the threat and the ones to crush the competition.

Devon was walking into Society when he overheard the chef quitting. The lady explained that she wanted to go to a new restaurant and create her own menu. Abby didn’t want to stray from Lola’s menu, but she offered to let the woman add a few of her own dishes. The lady accepted the offer, and she left. Devon liked how Abby handled things. Abby missed Lola, not just as a chef, but as a friend. She’d thought they’d be in this restaurant together. She said there were no guarantees in life about anything. He realized this was about Chance. She was having a hard time. She didn’t realize Chance would be gone this long – he hadn’t even gotten to hold his own son. She woke up crying sometimes. She wasn’t sure how much more of this she could stand.

Abby admired Chance’s need to protect and help people. She’d just never expected him to get called away by the feds. She said he joined the GCPD because he wanted to settle down, but they never got to do that. She thought he’d be gone a couple weeks or a month. She never prepared herself to be gone for this long, and now it was more difficult because she had a baby. She said now was the time for Devon to tell her everything would be alright. He said she didn’t need him to tell her that, because she already she knew things would be alright and that Chance was doing everything in his power to get back to her and the baby. Abby wished Chance never took the case, and Devon said she had every right to feel that way. He assured her that she could handle everything life threw at her, and she really didn’t have a choice now that she had her little boy. Devon added that she had him and her family too.

At Crimson Lights, Adam couldn’t wait to see what Sally had planned next for Newman Media. Sally couldn’t wait to show him. Chloe ran into them and wondered why they were hanging out. She assumed they’d made their relationship personal, and she asked if something happened in Tuscany. Adam told Chloe not to let her imagination get the best of her. Sally said she and Adam went their separate ways after the airport and bumped into each other on the way to Crimson Lights by coincidence. Adam added that nothing happened in Tuscany that Chloe needed to be concerned about. He had a meeting, so he left.

Chloe told Sally that Lauren tore her to shreds. Lauren wasn’t happy her designer’s dress got tossed aside for Lauren’s. Sally knew there was a possibility Lauren would be mad at her, but she hated that Chloe got caught in the crossfire. Chloe admitted she probably had it coming, since she could’ve warned Lauren in advance. Sally pointed out that Lauren would’ve told Victoria what was going on, and that would’ve ruined Sally and Chloe’s scheme. Chloe asked Sally not to call it a scheme, because that made her feel even worse. Chloe said they had a plan and they executed it, and now she just had to deal with the consequences of her actions. No big deal. Sally contended that it was a big deal because Chloe and Lauren were family. Sally decided to pretend she did all this behind Chloe’s back. Chloe said it was too late, because she already told Lauren that she knew what Sally was doing. Sally asked if there was anything she could do. Lauren walked up and snapped that Sally had done enough.

Lauren said she had to fire Sally for scheming to get Summer out of the country. However, Lauren had mistakenly assumed Sally would still respect her. Lauren called Sally conniving and self serving. Sally said she had to restore her reputation. Lauren thought Sally had a funny way of showing it. Lauren yelled that Sally stole her designer’s dress and replaced it with her own, right before the ceremony. Sally said she didn’t steal the other dress, she moved it and Victoria had the chance to decide which one to wear. She didn’t expect Lauren to understand. Lauren said that she did understand. Lauren felt that Sally loved to give big speeches proving herself, but the truth was Sally only cared about her own success. Lauren predicted that Sally was going to alienate everyone in Genoa City sooner rather than later. Lauren wouldn’t be sorry when Sally inevitably moved away. Sally left. Lauren admitted she’d been a little harsh on Chloe yesterday. Chloe thought Lauren had every right to be. She was so sorry. Lauren said that Chloe did something misguided, not vicious and conniving. “I say this out of love. Cut her loose. Do not continue to work with her. She will betray you too and you will end up in the exact same position I am,” Lauren said.

Adam went to The Grand Phoenix. Chelsea called. They talked about the wedding. He was surprised he got invited, but he was glad he went. She called to talk about the email from Connor’s school. Adam announced that he already told the school that Connor should be accelerated to the next course in math. Chelsea wasn’t happy that Adam handled it without her. He said he called her, and she didn’t answer. He said he was Connor’ father, and he could make decisions. He asked if she didn’t agree with his choice. She approved of moving Connor to the next course, so Adam wondered what the problem was. Chelsea said it wasn’t her fault she wasn’t there. He knew. He ended the call when Devon showed up. Adam vented that Chelsea was picking a fight with him because she felt pushed aside as a parent. Devon thought Chelsea’s feelings were understandable. Adam agreed, but he was trying to do what was right for his son, and he wished Chelsea wasn’t taking it out on him. Devon was very impressed with the way Adam was stepping up for Connor. He thought it was important to be present as a parent, and a lot of parents didn’t understand that.

Devon said he was filling in for Nick, who was still in Europe. Devon got the sense there was something going on with Nick, Victor and Adam. Adam said that there had just been a little disagreement. They finished the meeting and said they missed being neighbors. Devon suggested that Adam call Chelsea and make things right so that they didn’t fester. Adam didn’t see why he was the one who had to extend the olive branch. Devon said that Adam was the one who got to go home to Connor while Chelsea felt left out. Devon advised taking the high road. Devon left. Adam took the advice and called Chelsea. He admitted he was wrong to make the decision on Connor without her. The tension briefly lifted, but they got into it again because she couldn’t tell him when she would be back in Genoa City. He didn’t understand why she was hesitating. Sally walked in and overheard. The call ended.

Sally asked Adam if he was okay, and he said the mother of his son just hung up on him, other than that he was fine. She asked if he was really fine. He gruffly noted that he’d already said he was, and he asked what she wanted. Sally started to walk away, and Adam apologized and asked her to sit with him. She told him about her run in with Lauren. He told her not to worry about it, since she didn’t work for Lauren, and Victoria chose to wear the dress. Sally felt bad because Lauren’s opinion mattered to her. Adam had been there done that many times. He told her not to beat herself up about it, since it wasn’t like she committed a crime against Lauren. He said this was business, and Sally won this round, Lauren might win the next. Sally wished she could do something to make Adam feel better. Adam said a productive day would make him feel better, or at least distract him. He went to his second meeting.

Tessa entered her suite excited to see Mariah, but she wasn’t there. She put a gift box for Mariah on the table then gave her a call. Mariah didn’t answer. Tessa looked concerned, but when she left her voice mail, she just said she was home and she figured something had come up with Mariah.

Mariah was at the Chancellor house to drop off some breast milk and check on Dominic. The nanny acted like Mariah was intruding, and Mariah asked if something was wrong, because Abby said she was welcome anytime. The nanny explained that she’d just gotten the baby to sleep, and it was difficult. When Mariah sympathized, the nanny softened. Mariah suggested the nanny take a break while Mariah spent a minute with the baby. The lady said she’d give Mariah a few minutes, and she walked away. Mariah picked up Dominic and confided in him that she was kind of a mess because she didn’t know how to let go of her connection to him. She assured him she’d get to where she needed to be, but it was just so hard on her and everyone around her, especially Tessa. Mariah was scared she and Tessa weren’t on the same page about their future. Mariah was leaving, but then she heard Dominic cooing, and she decided to stay.

Abby came home and found Mariah reading a book to Dominic. Mariah hoped Abby didn’t mind her dropping by. Abby said it was a pleasant surprise, and Mariah was welcome any time. Abby had actually expected Mariah to come by earlier, since she didn’t go to Italy. Mariah said she wanted to be in town in case Dominic’s cold got worse and Abby needed her, but she didn’t want to overstep. Abby didn’t want things to be awkward between them. Mariah said she brought breast milk. She knew that Abby was talking about weaning him off it, though. Abby appreciated it but the doctor supported her plan to put Dominic on formula, so she wouldn’t need any more milk after this. Abby wasn’t trying to shut Mariah out, and she hoped this wasn’t a problem.

Mariah said that providing milk for Dominic made her feel like she had a unique role in his life, and it was hard to hear she was no longer needed, but she understood. Before the surrogacy, Mariah felt incredibly smart and savvy, but she didn’t realize how intense this would be. She said she needed to get back to herself. One of the reasons she didn’t go to Italy was because she didn’t want to be there putting on a smile while she wasn’t in the mood. While Tessa wasn’t thrilled Mariah skipped the trip, Mariah needed time for herself and for doing some deep reflection.

Devon came to check on Abby. Mariah said she loved Abby and Devon, and they all had a bond through bringing Dominic into the world. She would cherish it forever. She admitted she was having a hard time letting Dominic go and sorting through the emotions, especially for someone who didn’t like dealing with messy emotions, but she was working on it, and she was feeling much better. Devon and Abby were happy to hear that. Abby said that she was thrilled to walk in and see Mariah with Dominic. She wanted Mariah to have a big role in Dom’s life, but only when she was ready for it. Mariah said she was ready. Devon said they were still the baby Chancellor crew, or now, the Baby Dominic crew. Abby loved that. Mariah left. Abby told Devon she was in a better place now, so he didn’t have to stick around and be her cheerleader. He felt like she was kicking him out. She wasn’t kicking him out, but she was sure he had things to do. While she’d love nothing more than for him to hang out with her all afternoon, it wasn’t necessary. He said he’d come back and check on her later because she could always count on him. He left. Abby looked in on Dominic and wondered where Chance was.

Mariah got home and saw a sleeping Tessa and the gift. It was a little teddy bear in a gondolier outfit. Tessa admitted in the accompanying note that she bought it at the airport because she didn’t have time to shop in Italy, but she thought of Mariah constantly. Mariah took Tessa’s hand and woke her up. Mariah was sorry she wasn’t here earlier. She thought Tessa was due to arrive later. Tessa said her flight landed early. Mariah said she did a lot of thinking, and she made some important decisions that they’d talk about later, because she knew Tessa was tired. Tessa closed her eyes, and Mariah smoothed her hair.

When Adam woke up, Sally happened to be outside his door. He asked if she slept well. Jack was walking by and overheard Sally say she got more sleep than she would’ve if she spent the night with Adam. Sally told Jack she was just thanking Adam for bringing her here. She brought up her success with the dress. Jack didn’t think this was any of his business. Sally left to pack. Adam told Jack that Sally was just a friend. Jack didn’t think he was owed an explanation. Adam said he wasn’t standing in Jack’s way if he was interested in Sally. Jack clarified that that ship sailed long ago. Jack sensed something was going on with Adam and Sally, and he warned Adam to be careful and remember the adage about playing with fire. Jack left.

Lily woke up and reached for Billy, who was already awake and using his phone. He told her that he didn’t sleep last night. He stated that Victor openly declared war on him and ChancComm. Lily wasn’t surprised, since Victor had been dying to go after ChancComm. Billy felt like the timer was about to go off. She suggested Victor was just trying to rattle him, and it seemed to be working since he couldn’t sleep. He said he wasn’t intimidated, he was motivated to be prepared. He looked online to see if Gaines followed through with the threat to post the video if ChancComm didn’t.

Lily and Billy both looked, and they saw no evidence that Gaines posted the video. Billy thought it was weird. Lily suggested that Gaines backed down, like Ashland said. Billy took whatever Ashland said with a grain of salt. She was just glad ChancComm didn’t post the video, so they could move on. He said that if they’d posted the video, they could’ve controlled the narrative. She felt that there were a thousand reasons not to post it, one of which was that he deleted the video. He noted that there was other evidence backing up what Gaines said. She reminded him that running the story could permanently damage his relationship with the mother of his children. He decided to go for a walk to think about what to do.

When Phyllis woke up, she saw that Nick was already packing. She guessed he couldn’t wait to get out of here. She asked when they were leaving, and he informed her that he wasn’t going back to Genoa City right now. He was going to spend a few days with Noah in London. She was caught off guard to learn that she’d be going to Genoa City alone. He invited her to come if she wanted. “If I want,” she repeated. She said it was fine; she had to get back to the hotel. He understood, and he promised he’d be home soon. That wasn’t the response she expected, and she asked if they were okay. He said they were fine, he just had a lot to sort out and some time with Noah and away from the family would do him some good. She just felt there had been some added tension between them for awhile. She said Jack called her crazy for thinking that way, but she didn’t agree. She felt like she and Nick were in a tricky spot where either the relationship would work out or fall apart. He thought she was being too dramatic. He said he’d had a complicated frustrating couple of weeks which wasn’t her fault. He said he told his dad that no good deed went unpunished. The lesson never seemed to sink in for Nick, he said, but this time had to be different.

Phyllis said that she wanted to agree with Nick when he talked about his family, but every time she did, he took issue with it. He was sorry. He was just going through complex feelings about his family. She knew. He asked if he talked to Jack about that too and if it was awkward for Jack. Phyllis said Jack was a confidante and she trusted him – he wanted Nick and Phyllis to be happy. Nick asked if Jack was the best person to go to. Phyllis said she couldn’t find Nick, and she went to the person who was there, no offense. Noah came in and suggested they go say goodbye to the family, but Nick wanted to just leave. Noah said he got where Nick was coming from. Noah asked Phyllis if she was coming, and she said she had to get back to the hotel.

Phyllis went to the Palazzo living room and talked with Jack. Sally overheard Phyllis ask if she could ride home on the Jabot jet because she’d be traveling solo. Jack asked if this meant things were worse now. Phyllis said she took Jack’s advice and things were good with her and Nick. He was glad to have the company on the flight, since it was going to be a long trip back by himself. He already missed Kyle, Summer and Harrison. She did too.

Victoria, Ashland, Nikki and Victor had breakfast on the patio. Ashland mentioned that it had been harder to say goodbye to Harrison than he expected, but he could tell that his son seemed genuinely happy in Milan. Victoria thanked her parents for the magical wedding. Victor gave Nikki the lion’s share of the credit, and he said he just kept the wolves at bay. Nikki was glad Billy and Gaines were prevented from ruining the wedding. When Victor went to refill his glass, Victoria went with him and asked for the whole story. He didn’t want her to worry about it, but she felt she needed to know how Gaines was handled and if he’d need to be handled again.

Victor would only say he neutralized the threat. Victoria thanked Victor again. He told her she should be grateful to Adam too because he saved this wedding. Adam joined breakfast and thanked the newlyweds for including him. Victor was happy to see Victoria and Adam put their differences aside. Nikki didn’t look impressed. Victoria thanked Adam for saving the wedding. Adam said that families look out for each other. Victor thought there might be hope for Newman family unity. Everyone laughed about how Leslie accidentally caught the bouquet and seemed unhappy about it. Nikki said that if Sally had been there, she would’ve knocked Leslie over to catch it. Noah came and said goodbye, then he pulled Nikki aside and told her that Nick was leaving with him. He said Nick wanted to say goodbye to Nikki. Nikki excused herself. Noah was surprised Adam didn’t wreak havoc, as usual. Adam said sometimes havoc could be overrated, and he liked to keep people on their toes.

Nikki went to Nick’s room. She hated the family rift. He did too. She brought up the way he was trying to leave without a goodbye. He thought it was for the best, to prevent another argument. He just wanted Victoria to have happy memories of the wedding, and he didn’t want to have any more harsh words with his sister. She asked what about his father. He said his issues with Victor were nothing new. He was over the way Victor pitted the kids against each other. Nick wasn’t sure if he and Victoria would ever fix things. Nikki was confident that they would, since they’d been through worse and gotten past it. He said he wasn’t the one she needed to convince.

Sally saw Nick and Noah leaving and wished them a safe flight. Despite knowing Phyllis wasn’t traveling with them, Sally asked if Phyllis was already in the car. Nick replied that Phyllis was traveling separately. Sally said she hoped there wasn’t trouble in paradise. She asked if Phyllis dumped ice water on him too. Adam walked up and wished them safe travels.

Victor wanted to talk with Nick alone. Billy was in the background and saw them together. Nick didn’t have time to talk right now. Victor didn’t want to leave things like this between them. Nick said Victor should’ve never let things get to this point. He and Noah left. Adam asked Sally to give him a private moment with his dad, and she left the room. Victor told Adam they were going to crush ChancComm. Adam hoped Victor considered the potential ramifications. Victor said Billy almost ruined this wonderful wedding, and he went after Ashland, who was now a member of the Newman family. Victor said that anyone who attacked Ashland attacked all the Newmans, and if Adam was a full fledged member of the family, he’d think of a line of attack. Adam said he was no longer opposed to going into battle with Billy. He promised his full support.

Adam went back to his room and flashed to kissing Sally and putting the breaks on because he wasn’t ready. She’d suggested a one night stand. He returned to the present and Sally walked into his room. He assumed she must be on top of the world after her big success. She said she was ready, and this was just the beginning.

Nick went back to Phyllis because he wanted a proper goodbye. He didn’t want her to worry and overthink things. He just needed a couple days. She asked if they could get back to being the happy and carefree couple, and he said yes. He kissed her on the cheek, and they hugged. Nick left, and Phyllis stared out the window. Jack walked in.

Billy went back to his room and told Lily that he overheard Victor and Adam planning an all out war against ChancComm and throwing the full weight of the Newman family against them. He said they had to strike first to protect themselves – the best defense was a massive offense.

Victoria and Ashland were alone on the patio. They agreed that they’d had a glorious time, and now it was time to begin a new chapter with all the challenges that entailed. He was ready to take any treatment that would extend his life, because he needed more time with her. She said that was the most beautiful thing he’d ever said to her. He promised nothing would get in their way – together they were an unstoppable force. “My new wife and I are about to conquer the world,” he said, and they kissed.

Chloe and Kevin were at Society, talking about Sally’s success in Italy when Lauren and Michael rushed in. Lauren declared that Sally was back to her old tricks. She said she tried to tell Chloe that Sally couldn’t be trusted. Chloe asked what Lauren heard. Michael said he’d made the innocent mistake of showing Lauren a photo someone posted from the wedding. Lauren explained that her designer made a beautiful wedding dress for Victoria, but Victoria wore a dress designed by Sally. Lauren was sorry Chloe had to deal with this. Chloe admitted she’d known in advance what Sally was planning to do.

Lauren wanted an explanation. Now. Chloe explained how Sally came to design the dress and to to Italy to get it to Victoria. Chloe said she tried to explain to Sally that it was a bad idea, but there was no stopping her. Chloe said that Victoria must’ve been blown away by the dress and she wore it. Michael thought that was an amusing twist, but Lauren didn’t see the humor. She felt betrayed by Chloe and couldn’t believe she’d condone something so underhanded.

Lauren said Sally had been nothing but trouble ever since she set foot in the town. Michael didn’t think anyone at the table could throw stones. Lauren said some of them had lived to regret that, but Sally didn’t regret anything. Chloe said she didn’t do anything underhanded in the dress situation. Chloe had no idea Victoria would actually wear Sally’s dress, but Chloe wasn’t sorry that Victoria wore the dress. Chloe hoped Lauren would understand that she was trying to run a business. This turn of events had made Newman Media a household name. Lauren said that she and Chloe were family, and Fenmore’s took a hit because of this. Chloe asked Lauren to try and see it from her viewpoint. Chloe said that Fenmore’s was already a hallowed institution and the designer would make many beautiful dresses this year. Chloe said she and Sally needed this moment in the spotlight. Lauren thought Chloe should’ve told her what she and Sally were up to. Chloe admitted that was true. She was sorry. Lauren said Chloe should be. Lauren and Michael left. Sally and Chloe talked on the phone about Sally’s success with the dress. There was something Chloe wanted to say, but Sally said she had to go or she’d miss her ride. The call ended. Chloe told Kevin she just didn’t have the heart to bring Sally down by telling her Lauren was out for blood.

At Crimson Lights, Lauren said Sally wasn’t going to get away with this and not to even get her started on Chloe. Michael thought Lauren was being too hard on Chloe, who didn’t mean to hurt Lauren. Lauren said she’d eventually forgive Chloe, but not Sally. She thought that someone had to put a stop to the stunts.

Victor and Adam were in the palazzo living room wondering what Nick was upset about. Nick insisted on talking to Victor alone. Adam wasn’t usually amenable to being kicked out, but in this case, he’d go. He left. Victor asked what Nick needed to get off his chest. Nick stated that Victor kept him in the dark about Gaines. He added that Victor asked him to look into Ashland’s past. Nick did so and found a bunch of damaging information that nobody seemed to care about. Nick felt like he’d become the bad guy, and Victoria would barely talk to him. “Why are you not on my side on this? Why did you kick me out of the loop and you turned to Adam?,” Nick asked. Nick wondered if Adam was doing Victor’s dirty work. It made him feel like Victor was back to his old tricks, playing his children against each other. Victor laughed and asked if Nick was finished. He was. Victor said he left Nick out of the loop because he came here to try and mend fences with his sister. Victor assumed that Nick wouldn’t be eager to help protect Ashland.

Nick said he didn’t like or trust Ashland and he probably never would, but it didn’t matter because Victoria made her choice. He added that it didn’t matter what they found out about Ashland since no one except Nick seemed to care. Victor was sorry Nick felt that way. He’d thought this would be a happy occasion for the family. Nick sarcastically suggested raising a glass to the lying conniving criminal that they’d added to the family. Victor had assumed he was doing Nick a favor by keeping him out of the loop about this lowlife, Gaines. Victor said they’d dealt with Gaines, and he wasn’t going to be a problem anymore. Nick was concerned about exactly what Victor did to Gaines. Victor would only say that the situation was handled with discretion, so Nick shouldn’t worry about it. Nick noted that Victor made a big speech earlier about putting family first, and he asked if those were just words. “You can’t possibly think that,” Victor replied. Nick asked why Victor’s reaction to Victoria being threatened was to fracture the family instead of uniting it. Victor said Billy brought Gaines here, and Victor took care of the threat. Nick complained that Victor shut him out. He said no good deed went unpunished, but bad deeds were rewarded – everything Ashland did was accepted, and now he was merged into the family. Nick reiterated that he was kept in the dark about Gaines while Victor, Adam and Victoria closed ranks. Nick was trying to figure out how to get Victoria to forgive him. Nick said it was getting awfully hard to figure out what was considered right and wrong in this family. He stormed off.

Phyllis was in her room when Summer texted to ask where she was because they were about to cut the cake. Phyllis was heading to the reception when she ran into Jack, who said he was going to check on Harrison. Phyllis surmised that Jack had decided to duck out of the party early. She knew it was hard to be single at these things. He said it wasn’t that, but she knew it was. He sighed and admitted she was right. He found it annoying that he wasn’t able to lie to her. He said that the back to back weddings and romance and perfect couples got a little annoying. She asked if Sally and Adam were one of the couples annoying him. He said he had no feelings for Sally, except feeling embarrassed for her. He thought the whole wedding dress switch showed Sally couldn’t change. He felt a bit lonely when everyone was going to the dance floor in pairs except him. She said she’d go with him and be his wingman and introduce him to women, but he didn’t want that. He was sick of talking about his lack of a love life, especially with her. He asked where Nick was. She said he went to go talk to his father and get some things off his chest, because it wasn’t a Newman affair without chaos.

Phyllis didn’t want to go to the party anymore, and she invited Jack to her room for a drink and then a jump in the fountain. He was willing to do the drink, but he said he’d hold her shoes while she jumped in the fountain. When they got to her room, he noted that she’d already been drinking the prosecco. She was tired of all the misunderstandings with Nick. He was sorry they were fighting. She said they were just little squabbles because Nick wouldn’t let her help him. She said Nick kept telling her things that were happening with his family then he’d get annoyed when she shared her opinion, which lead to Phyllis getting annoyed that Nick didn’t take her advice. Jack said that only family could complain about family, and if someone else chimed in, the family members would circle the wagons. Phyllis said that was exactly what was happening – Nick criticized Victoria, and when Phyllis agreed with him, he’d tell her not to be critical. Jack thought everyone did that. He asked what she would say if he called Nick awful. She smiled and admitted she’d stand up for Nick. She said she didn’t know how to help Nick, and she guessed this was a tricky part of a relationship.

Jack told Phyllis that sometimes people just wanted to be heard, and they wanted people to listen without offering to fix the problem. Phyllis felt like Nick was refusing to let her in. Jack suggested backing off and giving Nick some space. He reminded Phyllis that she said she and Nick were in a good place and they were happy. Phyllis wondered if she needed problems in a relationship. She said she and Nick were the most carefree, fun and romantic that they’d ever been, Summer was happy, and the hotel was great. Everything should be fabulous, but every time she said something, it seemed to create a flareup. Phyllis wondered if she was the problem. “Maybe I just need issues and drama and conflict to feel like I’m engaged in a relationship. Maybe I’m that person. Maybe I need to fight,” Phyllis said. Jack didn’t think that was the case. He thought that Phyllis was engaging in self-sabotage with this kind of talk, and he wasn’t going to let her do that. He conceded that she was once drawn to drama, but he thought she’d changed and that she could be happy without it.

Elena and Nate went out to the patio from the reception. He twirled and dipped her, and they shared a kiss before Sally cleared her throat, alerting them that they weren’t alone. Elena and Nate were embarrassed, and Elena said she felt like a teen who just got caught making out at a dance. Sally didn’t want to stifle romance, she just didn’t want to be a casualty of their passion. She heard Nate’s speech from out here, and she congratulated him because it was great. Elena congratulated Sally for designing the dress. Nate asked who Sally’s date was. She said it was Adam, though he wasn’t really her date. She explained that he got called away on family business, and she wasn’t really sure what that meant. She thought she may have been stood up. Nate suggested they head back to the party as a trio, and he and Sally could have a dance, if Elena didn’t mind. Elena was fine with it. Sally didn’t want to be a third wheel. She suggested that Elena and Nate go take a moonlit walk in the garden. Sally was going to grab some cake and turn in. They all went their separate ways just as Adam returned looking for Sally.

Adam found Nick brooding on the patio and assumed the talk with Victor went poorly. Nick asked what happened to Gaines. Adam would only say it had been handled, and Nick said Adam sounded like Victor. Adam said he and Victor were just trying to keep the peace. Adam asked if Nick wanted him to try and mediate with Victor or Victoria. Nick wasn’t interested. When Adam offered again, Nick said Adam must feel good about infiltrating the Newman family. Adam said he wasn’t infiltrating – he was mending fences because family was important to him. He thought that was what they all wanted. Nick got up and walked away.

At a private spot on the patio, Noah gave the crying Tessa a handkerchief and said he couldn’t help worrying about her and his sister. She told him not to because it was going to be okay. He thought she and Mariah could work things out, but he hated seeing her so upset. He understood his sister had been through a lot, but it was hard for the people supporting her too. He made a comparison and said when Sharon was sick, it took a toll on her family, including him. Tessa felt guilty for being upset, since Mariah was the one who’d went through the trauma of abduction, childbirth and having to give the baby back to the biological mom. Noah was sure it was hard for Tessa when Mariah asked her to have a baby right away.

Tessa wanted to respect what Mariah wanted. She wasn’t sure Mariah even understood what she was asking of her. Noah was sure that Tessa and Mariah would make the right choice for themselves. Tessa changed the subject and said she wanted to hear about Noah and his love life. He said misfortune befell him, and she teased that they were in a Charles Dickens novel. He said he fell for an artful dodger, then he was saved by a barmaid with a big heart. She assumed that didn’t have a happy ending, since they were in a Dickens novel. She repeated what he’d said to her earlier – that he could tell her everything. Noah fell pretty hard for this woman. She was an artist too, and they’d stay up all night talking. He’d never had those sort of conversations with anyone he dated before, except Tessa. Tessa remembered her all night talks with Noah. Noah’s ex found someone else and left him without a second thought. Tessa was sorry.

Elena and Nate came back to the patio after their walk in the garden. They’d played bocce and it didn’t go well because they were tipsy and didn’t know what they were doing. She thought it was nice to be in a different world. He’d enjoyed not talking about medicine with people. She’d talked to a random couple earlier, and they recommended a gelato place. He thought he’d be able to order in Italian, since a lot of the phrases he learned as a kid were coming back. She’d picked up a few words too, and they went back and forth saying words in Italian. He called her beautiful in Italian, then she said the Italian word for love.

Elena didn’t want this trip to end. He said they’d bring part of Italy home with them, through their memories. He said he’d never forget how she looked in the moonlight. She’d never forget him almost knocking over a statue with a bocce ball. They heard music playing, and they danced.

Adam went to his room and had just closed his eyes when there was a knock on the door. It was Sally. She said she was trying to figure out why he left her to fend for herself in a palazzo of people who didn’t like her. He said he looked and he couldn’t find her, so he assumed she went to bed. She didn’t sound mad when she called him a liar, theorizing that he walked by the place that he left her, saw that she wasn’t there, then called it a night. She made herself at home and poured a drink so they could toast to their success. He was sorry he got pulled away. He toasted to her. She told him about all the social media followers their company got thanks to the dress. He gave her credit for putting Newman Media on the map. He said it was like she willed it to happen. She’d had a lot of plans that didn’t work out, so it was a little surreal that this one did. She admitted her plan to win over the Newman family didn’t work out, but she did get a few compliments on the dress, especially from Nate and Elena. She said the only person she was interested in winning over right now was Adam. She kissed him, and he reciprocated.

Adam and Sally moved to the bed, and things were heating up, when he suddenly put a stop to it. He wasn’t ready for this. Sally said she wasn’t looking for commitment – what happened in Tuscany stayed in Tuscany. She said she wouldn’t even flirt with him once they were in the office. He called her a liar in the same tone she used earlier. He said she didn’t do things halfway, and he didn’t think she’d be satisfied with one night with him. He stroked her hair and said he couldn’t give her what she wanted right now. He said it wasn’t a reflection on her. Next time he got involved with someone, it had to be all or nothing, and he wasn’t emotionally ready for “all,” now. He thought it’d be wrong to pretend he was ready, and spend one night with her, when he could tell she wanted more. She said that only made him seem more thoughtful, decent and sexy. She wasn’t giving up hope that one day he’d be ready for “all,” and she hoped it was with her. He kissed her on the cheek.

Jack was still in Phyllis and Nick’s room, with the door open. He and Phyllis were sitting on the edge of the bed. He was sure she and Nick could work through this. She hoped so. She wrapped her arms around one of his arms and rested her head on his shoulder. He said he was rooting for her and Nick, especially for her. Sally passed by the room, and she saw Phyllis leaning against Jack. Sally pulled out her phone and took a couple pictures of Jack and Phyllis without them noticing.

Lily and Billy were in their room. She finished her makeup and told him that dancing was her favorite thing about weddings. He suggested skipping the reception and having the night to themselves. She asked if he wanted to skip it because he was upset the wedding took place. He said he was just feeling amorous toward her, and he didn’t like the fact that she’d question that. She pointed out that he’d been trying to stop the wedding for weeks, which was why he flew Gaines here. He assured her that he was fine with the way things worked out, and that was why he deleted the video from Gaines. She was proud he took the high road, but she was wondering if his ego was a little bruised and he wanted to avoid the party to sulk. He denied sulking. He said he was celebrating the fact that he was with her and he loved her. If he had to go to the reception, he’d do just that to prove how much he loved her. She decided that they could stay in the room together.

Later, Lily was in bed, and she saw Billy up and staring out the window. She told him he looked like the marble statues from the garden. He said he was having one of those good/bad brainstorms. Apprehensive, she asked what he was thinking. He was thinking of a way to get out of this mess with Victor and Gaines while benefiting ChancComm. He thought they should do a story – “The Life and Times of Jesse Gaines.” Instead of making Ashland the bad guy, they’d make Gaines the bad guy – a loser who contributed nothing to society, who made a career out of blackmailing people. Lily asked why Billy couldn’t just let it go. He said he paid a duffel bag full of cash for the story. She reminded him that he promised Victoria he’d let it go. He clarified that he never said he wouldn’t publish something. He said the Newmans couldn’t get upset if the story was about Gaines. She said they’d get more than upset. He said they’d deal with it. This was the only way he could think of rising from the ashes of this trip.

Lily asked how Billy was going to do a story on Gaines without details on who he was blackmailing and why. He knew it was going to be difficult, but there had to be a way to do it wihtout dragging Ashland through the mud. She felt like he was obsessed, which he denied. She asked why he couldn’t let this go – some secrets were meant to stay buried. He said maybe. She heard their song being played outside, and she asked him to come back to bed. He did.

Later, Billy got dressed and slipped out without waking Lily. He went into the living room and asked what Victor did to Gaines. Victor claimed not to know what Billy was talking about. Billy said Gaines sent him an exclusive video that would’ve blown up Ashland’s secret to the entire world. Billy said he did the right thing and deleted it to protect Victoria. He wanted Victor to tell him how he got rid of Gaines. Victor said that Billy only did the right thing after doing a lot of wrong things. Victor added that Victoria was no longer any of Billy’s business. “The gloves are coming off. You find another career. Another life. I will take everything you own from you,” Victor said.

Almost everyone mingled on the patio after the wedding. Jack told Victoria she’d never looked more lovely. She thanked him and asked if he’d seen her kids. He saw them with the nanny earlier. She mentioned that the kids were a happy trio. He thanked her for including Kyle and Summer. He thought that Harrison seeing all the adults gathered together in a show of love and support was a good thing. She said they were one big happy family. Nikki came over to tell Victoria it was time to put on her reception gown. Jack complimented the wedding dress, and he was caught off guard when Victoria said Sally designed it. After Victoria and Nikki left, Jack joined Phyllis to ask if Nick would be a the reception. Phyllis wasn’t sure since he wasn’t answering her texts. Jack told Phyllis about the wedding dress. Phyllis said that Victoria treated Nick like dirt, but then she wore Sally’s design and hugged her. It made Phyllis sick.

Victoria and Nikki ran into Victor and Adam. They’d noticed Victor’s absence. He said he and Adam were making sure the reception would be as spectacular as the wedding was beautiful. Nikki and Victoria went inside. Ashland came to check in with Victor. Victor said that Nick stopped Gaines from interrupting the wedding. Gaines was locked in the storage room now, and Victor said Ashland could talk to him if he wanted to.

Ashland went to the storage room and told Gaines that his plan didn’t work out like he thought. Gaines said the day was young, and there might be a reversal of fortunes. Ashland said that Gaines made a colossal miscalculation coming here, and how it turned out would depend on Gaines. Ashland asked what Gaines wanted. Gaines said it wasn’t about the money anymore. “I wanted you to experience the same humiliation and degradation that I felt seeing my father embracing you while ignoring his own flesh and blood. Do you have any idea what that’s like?,” Gaines asked. Ashland admitted he did know what that was like. He would’ve given anything to experience his father’s love. He explained that he ran away from home because his father beat him on a regular basis. Ashland didn’t see how it was his fault that Gaines got hurt. Ashland said he had a connection with Camilla, and he met Gaines Sr. by happenstance. He never sought out Senior’s admiration. Ashland said that Camilla turned her back on him in the end – he and Gaines had both been let down, and all they could do was move forward. Gaines asked if Ashland was telling himself that he made his own way. Ashland said he found out what he wanted and he went for it, but it seemed like Gaines wanted to take the easy way out, and even then, Gaines didn’t seem to be able to figure out what he wanted. Ashland asked if Gaines wanted to blackmail him or punish him, or take Victor’s money and run or play Victor against Billy. Gaines asked why he couldn’t have it all. Ashland yelled that life didn’t work that way. Ashland said he and Victor both gave Gaines money, and he could’ve been a wealthy man, but he botched this. Gaines asked what Ashland was going to do – turn him over to the authorities? Make him disappear? Ashland said he and the Newmans didn’t decide yet, but the last thing he wanted was to deal with this on his wedding day. He locked Gaines in the storage closet and left.

Sally and Adam talked alone, and she asked if it was okay. He said he was dealing with family issues. He wanted to talk about what she pulled off. He thought she should be happy and proud of herself. She guessed she was. He said he never should’ve doubted her. She didn’t realize he did. He said there was one thing to have talent, but it was another to have the drive to back it up. It was a combination you didn’t see every day. He thought she may have changed a few of her adversaries minds about her.

Victoria and Nikki were upstairs in the bedroom. Victoria felt like she was walking on a cloud. Nikki wanted to talk about the dress. Victoria said that Sally’s impressive sales pitch was what made her try on the dress. When she tried it on, it felt meant to be. Nikki hoped Victoria didn’t approve of Sally’s deception in switching the dresses, especially after what she did to Summer. Victoria didn’t, but that didn’t mean she was going to get angry about how this worked out. The dress was flawless and exactly what she wanted her wedding gown to be. The best things came out of the most improbable situations, she said.

Victoria told Nikki this was the best day of her entire life. She said she and Ashland were thinking of working from the Palazzo part time. She thanked Nikki for what she and Victor did for her, not just for the Palazzo but for making this wedding as magical as she and Ashland both hoped it’d be. Victoria was able to put some of her anxiety aside because she knew Victor would handle things. Nikki said that Victor would never allow anyone to ruin a moment of her wedding day.

Billy and Lily were in the living room talking about Gaines’ video that outlined Ashland’s crimes. If they didn’t publish it within the hour, Gaines was threatening to do it himself. She reminded him that they already agreed not to run the Gaines story, and he countered that if they didn’t, someone else would, and if they published it, they could control the narrative. She didn’t like Gaines pushing them into a corner. He said either way, the world was about to learn about Ashland’s crimes. Jack walked in and overheard Lily ask what about Victoria. He asked what was going on. Billy covered and told Jack how he found Ashland having trouble breathing earlier. Jack said that was all the more reason to make this day as happy and memorable for Victoria and Ashland as possible. Jack left for the reception. Lily asked if they really wanted to be the ones to bring Locke down and ruin things for Victoria. Billy said that they could control the narrative and protect Victoria. Lily pointed out that Billy said he only wanted Victoria to know the truth. She wondered if he was trying to have this both ways.

Phyllis joined Nick in their bedroom, and he told her about his encounter with Gaines. He wasn’t surprised Ashland had another skeleton in the closet. He was upset because Victor had kicked him out of the loop and brought Adam in. He griped that Adam and Victor knew Gaines was here, and they’d had security looking for him, but no one told Nick. Nick said that was how his father was – one minute you were in the inner circle, and the next you were out. He said the Newmans were so focused on protecting the marriage and more importantly the merger. His parents and siblings had closed ranks about this guy who stole a dead kid’s identity, who probably let his best friend die in a burning car, then went to his job interview. Nick told Phyllis how Ashland built his fortune on his mentor’s stolen estate. He said that when Victor found out Gaines was in Tuscany, he did what he could to silence him and protect Locke. Nick didn’t understand why Ashland had such a tight grip on his family.

Phyllis didn’t think that Nick should be shocked Victor only confided in him when it was convenient for Victor. Nick used to think his relationship with Victor was in a good place. “[I thought] that he appreciated everything I was doing to protect Victoria by getting the truth about Ashland.” Phyllis told Nick that he was nothing like Victor, and that was why he worked so hard to build something separate from the family, but Victoria had all the qualities it took to run Newman. Phyllis said Victoria married a secretive merciless phony, and the family rallied around them anyway. Nick snapped that Ashland was a criminal, and Phyllis said Victor probably saw it as a badge of honor. Nick asked Phyllis not to use his frustrations as an opening to attack his family.

Phyllis was adamant that she wasn’t bashing his family. She said Nick was trying to do right by Victoria, just like Billy. He argued that it wasn’t like Billy, but she contended that ultimately Billy and Nick wanted the same thing. Phyllis said Victoria was a smart savvy businesswoman who should be able to make her own decisions. She said Victoria was no damsel in distress. Nick said he knew that. “Okay why do you have to rescue her? Why? Why do you have to ride in on your horse and rescue Victoria? You and all the Newmans and Billy,” Phyllis yelled.

Nick admitted Phyllis was right. He’d wanted to stop the wedding, but he didn’t because he loved his sister and he knew he didn’t have the right to tell her how to live her life, and neither did his father. He remembered that when he and Phyllis got back together, he hated the way his family treated her. He’d told them that it was his life. Phyllis was concerned that Nick was comparing her life to Ashland’s or that he thought being with her was a mistake. “No! What are you talking about?,” Nick asked. He said he wasn’t making that comparison at all.

Phyllis guessed she misunderstood, and she was sorry. She was glad he saw her point about Victoria. Nick said everyone had a past, and people had to choose whether or not to accept them for it. He said Victoria could live her life as she wanted to. He wasn’t happy that his dad was playing favorites and turned to Adam.

Tessa called Mariah, who she realized was probably asleep due to the time difference. Tessa said the wedding was perfect, and the only thing missing was Mariah. She just wished Mariah was here. After leaving the message, Tessa looked upset. Noah left the reception and came outside to check on her. She pretended she was great. He could tell she was surrounded by tons of people, ubt she felt alone. She asked if it was that obvious. He said he knew her pretty well, and she didn’t have to put up a front with him. She started crying, and she said that Mariah was shutting her out, and Tessa didn’t know what to do.

Noah couldn’t imagine how Mariah’s ordeal affected her. Tessa said for weeks it was Mariah and Bowie against the world. Noah questioned Bowie, and Tessa explained that it was what Mariah called the baby. She explained that Mariah was struggling with having to give the baby up after what they went through together. Noah was sure it had been difficult for Tessa too. Tessa said it was nothing compared to what Mariah went through, but Noah reminded Tessa that she was allowed to have feelings. He said that he was sure that she and Mariah could figure it out with time. She mentioned that Mariah wanted them to have a baby. He asked if Tessa wanted to do that. Tessa wasn’t ready. It seemed wrong to her to have a child for this reason. Noah knew Tessa loved his sister, even though it took him awhile to come to terms with it. He just wanted Tessa and Mariah to be happy. Tessa missed having Noah as a friend. He said he was and always would be her friend.

Ashland asked for a word with Billy in private, but Billy said he and Lily had no secrets. Ashland said Gaines was no longer in a position to expose his past and he’d revealed Billy was the one who brought him here to expose the story about Camilla. Billy said that was true. Ashland said that meant Billy was the only one threat to Ashland’s future, however long that might be. Ashland noted that Billy said he wanted Victoria to have that information before the wedding, and if that was true, he should be satisfied. Ashland asked Billy not to release that information, for the sake of his son and his wife.

Billy said he wasn’t going to release Gaines’ video because it would only alienate Victoria. Ashland didn’t know about the video, so Billy let him see it. Billy deleted the video, and Ashland said thanks. Billy said he didn’t do it for Ashalnd, he did it for the mother of his children. Ashland knew what Billy was sacrificing, career-wise, and he said it was quite a gift to Victoria. Billy said some things were more important than his job. Ashland left. Lily smiled at Billy and said he surprised her. She was proud of him.

Ashland went upstairs and told Victoria that he was married to the most beautiful woman on the planet. He’d checked on the kids and they were fine. She said she’d just checked in on the children as well. He said Katie and Johnny were so accepting of Harrison. Ashland was glad Harrison could see him, her, Summer and Kyle working together as a team. Victoria said “as a family.” He said he handled Gaines, and he talked to Billy. He was pleasantly surprised when Billy said he didn’t want to cause a permanent rift with Victoria. He told her about Billy deleting the video.

Victoria wanted to let all the drama go and revel in being husband and wife. They kissed.

Sally saw Jack walking through and called him. He steeled himself and went over. He said he heard about what Sally pulled. He said instead of showing Victoria the design in Genoa City, Sally put her in the untenable position of choosing her wedding dress on her wedding day. Sally admitted it wasn’t the usual way. He said lucky for her, Victoria liked the dress. Sally clarified that luck had nothing to do with it – she worked her tail off to create the perfect dress, and everyone thought Victoria looked spectacular. She asked if it’d kill him to say good job. He wasn’t sure why he cared what she thought. She agreed that it shouldn’t matter, and he was leaving as Adam arrived. Sally said she and Adam should go have some fun. She asked to dance all night long to celebrate, and he said she earned it.

Sally took Adam’s arm and they were about to go to the reception when Victor came out and pulled Adam aside. Victor said that Ashland and Gaines talked, and while Gaines seemed receptive, Victor was convinced he’d remain a problem. His gift to his son in law was going to be to prevent that from happening. Adam reiterated that he was willing to help make this day what Victoria wanted it to be. Victor appreciated that. Adam said that family protected each other. Nick walked up and he had something to say.

Ashland and Victoria walked to the doorway of the place where the reception was being held. Several camera shutters went off and people applauded.

The wedding was underway, and Victoria walked out wearing the dress Sally designed. Summer thought the dress was stunning, and even Phyllis grudgingly admitted she’d never seen Victoria look more beautiful. Adam asked Sally how she convinced Victoria to wear the dress. Sally said that she just told the truth, and it worked. Sally took Adam’s hand and squeezed it. Tessa sang softly while Leslie played as Victor escorted Victoria down the aisle. Victor kissed Victoria and wished her all the happiness in the world. Billy looked somber as he watched the wedding unfold.

The priest said marriage was a union between two hearts and two souls, and he gave advice on making a marriage stand the test of time. Ashland said Victoria changed him. He’d had some unexpected and difficult obstacles in the past year, and she helped him put them in perspective. She helped him cope and strive to be a better person. “You have seen me at my best and my utter worst,” he said. Adam stole a glance at Sally. Ashland continued that Victoria stood by him and accepted him for who he was. He wasn’t sure he could repay that gift, but he’d try with everything he had. He promised to give her more than he’d ever given anyone, and he vowed to be absolutely honest going forward. Lily looked at Billy.

Ashland said Victoria showed him the power of true forgiveness. Phyllis whispered to Jack that Victoria forgave this guy, but she wouldn’t forgive Nick. Ashland promised Victoria all the joy they could have in the time they had left. Victoria told the crowd that Ashland was a tough act to follow. The camera focused on Billy when Victoria said she saw herself as stronger because of Ashland. Victoria said Ashland helped her to grow as a person and to come into her own in so many ways and on so many levels. They merged their companies and now they were merging their lives and families. She’d never felt more complete. She’d made mistakes, but she felt that they all brought her to him. Victoria said no one was perfect, but that didn’t mean they were incapable of change or unworthy. She believed love transcended all.

Victoria acknowledged that “in sickness and in health” had a deeper meaning to them, but she was honored and grateful to stand by Ashland’s side fighting his illness along side him. She wished she could promise him forever, but she could promise that they’d spend every precious second they had together.

In the palazzo, Nick confronted Gaines – who was he and what was he doing in Nick’s room? Gaines said he was a friend of Ashland’s, and he tried to leave, but Nick stood in his path, because he wanted to know why Gaines was in his room. Nick advanced on Gaines and ordered him to start talking before this got ugly. Gaines put his hands up to show he meant no harm, but Nick still wanted answers. Gaines refused to tell Nick anything, so Nick gave him a little shove and closed the door. Gaines realized who Nick was, and everything he’d read told him that Nick was a righteous kind of guy. Gaines surmised that, since Nick wasn’t downstairs, he didn’t approve of the wedding. He asked what Nick actually knew about the man his sister was going to marry. Nick wanted answers from Gaines. Gaines introduced himself and admitted he wasn’t a friend of Ashland’s – quite the opposite, because he knew Ashland’s deepest darkest secret.

Nick stated that he knew all Ashland’s secrets, but Gaines was sure he didn’t know this one. He revealed that Ashland was involved in forging Camilla Rhodes’ will. That piqued Nick’s interest. Gaines told Nick the whole story about the forged will, Victor finding out and pressuring Gaines to keep silent and Billy flying Gaines here to expose Ashland. Nick asked if Gaines confronted Ashland or Victoria. Gaines said not yet because he didn’t trust Billy. He’d been hiding out at the palazzo waiting for the most opportune moment to make his move. Gaines said that Nick interrupted him before he could stop the wedding, and now it would go forward unless Nick cooperated with him and acted fast to stop Victoria from marrying that ruthless and dangerous man.

Gaines looked out the window at the ceremony and told Nick that time was running out. Nick went to the drawer and got out a key, then he told Gaines to stay put. Nick left and locked the door from the outside. “Don’t lock me in here! Take me with you!,” Gaines bellowed as he ran over and tried to get out of the room. It was no use, so he went back to the window.

Nick went to the patio door and heard Ashland say “I do.” Adam saw his brother watching the ceremony from the living room and went inside to see what was going on. Nick asked if Adam knew Jesse Gaines. Adam said they’d been looking everywhere for him. Back outside, Harrison gave his father the rings. Kyle and Summer looked at each other then smiled at Harrison.

Adam asked if Gaines was going to sabotage the wedding. “Well it sounds like he has good reason to, and if what he says is true then I want to help him,” Nick snapped. Billy saw Adam and Nick inside and told Lily that this wasn’t good. Meanwhile, Ashland put the ring on Victoria’s finger. Back inside, Adam urged Nick to think this through. Nick said that if Gaines was truthful, Victoria was about to marry a lying thief.

Billy’s phone vibrated, but Lily told him not to answer it. Back inside, Nick started to the door, but Adam wouldn’t let him go. He pointed out how happy Victoria looked and he said that she’d never forgive Nick for torpedoing her wedding. Victoria put the ring on Ashland’s finger and the priest pronounced them husband and wife. They kissed and everyone outside applauded. Nick looked upset.

Adam told Nick that he did the right thing. Nick wasn’t sure, but it was strange getting advice from Adam. It was strange for Adam to give moral guidance too. Nick asked what he should do now. He said it wasn’t like he could just join the party, because he had Gaines was locked away, and he was a powder keg. Adam said he’d alert security while Nick checked Gaines.

Victoria was glad the wedding went smoothly. Ashland thanked Victor for his support. Victor said he’d do anything for his daughter’s happiness. As Victor walked away, he passed Billy and told him to behave himself. Billy congratulated Victoria and Ashland and told her that all he’d ever wanted was for her to be happy. “Well, I guess you got your wish because I am. I’m happier than I’ve ever been,” she replied. Billy went to get a drink.

“Nicely done, Mr. Reverend…Sir,” Sally said to the priest. He said Pastor was fine. She asked, of all the couples he’d married, how many he thought stayed together. He stammered, and she realized it was awkward, so she made a quick exit. She ended up near Elena and Lily, who were raving about Victoria’s dress. Lily wanted to know the designer, which made Elena ask if she needed a wedding dress soon. Lily said no, and she asked if Elena did. Elena didn’t either. Lily still wanted a dress as gorgeous as Victoria’s, and she said she’d pay the designer any amount of money to get one. Sally soaked up all the praise, but she didn’t take credit.

Phyllis was clearly annoyed when she went to Victoria and passed along Nick’s best wishes. She said that Nick didn’t feel welcome at the wedding. “And yet you still felt welcome to show up and offer your opinion,” Victoria replied, then she walked away.

Victoria and Ashland were with Nikki and Nate. The couple thanked Nikki and Nate for being their wedding attendants. Victoria said she couldn’t have picked a better matron of honor. Ashland said Nate did a stellar job.

Tessa and Noah were together. He told her that her voice was stronger and more beautiful than ever. He was glad his family had her perform. Noah sensed that Tessa was distracted. She said she was fine. Noah urged Tessa to open up to him. She replied that she missed her girlfriend.

Jack approached Phyllis and said he overheard what she said to Victoria. Phyllis had felt compelled to say something. She knew it was going to be a long bumpy road for reconciliation between Victoria and Nick. Phyllis said Nick was hurt, and she didn’t understand why he didn’t want her to help. Jack suggested that Phyllis was blowing things out of proportion. He pointed out that Nick had just been through back to back destination family weddings.

Lily and Billy talked. She could see that the wedding wasn’t easy for him. She recalled him saying that he wanted to go to the wedding to prove he was over Victoria. Lily was 100% confident in her relationship with Billy, but she was also confident that if she wasn’t here, he would’ve read the text from Gaines. He said he hadn’t looked at it, and she asked if he wanted to. He did want to know where Gaines was and what he wanted. Nothing about this trip went the way Billy expected or wanted, but maybe it went the way it was meant to. He wondered if the universe was trying to tell him something. She suggested the cosmic lesson was not to give a shady guy a duffel bag of money. He’d been thinking about why he was so determined to make sure Victoria knew about Ashland’s past. Of course he wanted to protect her, but he guessed part of him wanted to prove Ashland wasn’t a better man than he was. Billy was so upset that Victoria knew the truth and was still marrying Ashland because he wanted Victoria to judge Ashland as harshly as Billy had felt judged at times. He knew that was silly because Victoria forgave him for many things and she held him accountable, as she should. Lily thought that was insightful and she thanked him for sharing it. The most important thing he felt the whole time was how much he’d moved on. He loved Lily and they loved what they had. He admitted self-awareness wasn’t cheap. There was a lot of money in that duffel bag. She said he’d spent that much gambling without learning anything.

Adam called security, then he and Nick went to the room. Gaines was relaxing on the bed.

Phyllis texted Nick to ask if he was going to the reception.

Summer and Kyle talked about their wedding, which they said was low key, but just as special as this one. He thought the palazzo was fantastic, and he suggested they should renew their vows here. She liked the idea, but wasn’t it a little soon. He said that with a wife like her, he could marry her any day. Summer saw Sally sitting alone and said she almost felt sorry for her.

Nikki talked to Victoria about the audacity of Sally to steal Victoria’s wedding dress and substitute her own. Victoria said she was wearing Sally’s dress because she preferred it to the other one. Nikki thought Victoria made the right choice, because she looked stunning. Summer walked over and asked which one of Lauren’s designers made the dress. Victoria said Sally designed it, and Summer was shocked. Victor came to talk to Victoria, so Nikki took Summer off to tell her about the dress situation. Victor took Victoria’s hands and told her he was so proud of her and he loved her so much. He was so happy for her. She loved him too.

Jack knew he and Ashland had their rough patches, in business and personally, but he wished Ashland a long and happy marriage. Kyle came up, and Ashland thanked him for taking such good care of Harrison. Ashland intended to get stronger, and he hoped Kyle kept the parental channels open. Kyle promised he would. Ashland excused himself to talk to Victor.

Ashland thanked Victor for making sure the wedding went off without a hitch. He’d thought Gaines might show up and disrupt things, but apparently he had other ideas. “I take care of things,” Victor replied.

Victoria approached Sally and said she was glad she wore Sally’s dress. However, she didn’t agree with Sally’s methods. Sally knew she crossed the line, but she believed she created the perfect dress for Victoria. Victoria thanked Sally and hugged her.

Billy checked the text. Gaines had sent him a video. Back inside, Nick wondered where security was, and Adam wondered why Gaines looked so pleased with himself when his plans had been ruined. Adam admitted he never called security, because he wanted to keep this situation quiet and controlled. Victor entered and he had a grave expression. Nick said he should’ve known Victor was pulling the strings. Gaines chimed in, and Adam told him to be quiet. Victor said Gaines was a threat Victoria and her company, and Victor wouldn’t allow that.

Lily found Billy and asked what Gaines said. Billy stated that Gaines gave them the scoop of the year. He recorded himself detailing Ashland’s crimes, including the evidence. Lily watched it and said it was huge. Gaines was giving ChancComm an hour to post it, then he was going to send it out globally. Lily asked what they should do. Billy looked across the area at Victoria and Ashland, who looked very happy.

When Victoria woke up, Ashland was already dressed, but he’d gotten back in bed and was looking at her with love. They were pleased that their wedding day was finally here. He told her that he could never dreamed he could love anyone as much as he loved her. She loved him too, and she’d never been more certain of anything in her life. They agreed that what they had was special and unique and it didn’t matter what anyone else thought or did. They kissed. Later, she was out of bed and enjoying a fancy breakfast. She mentioned that she woke up last night, and he wasn’t in bed. He said he was restless, so he went for a walk. He thought the grounds were almost as beautiful as her. She said it was theirs now, and with some careful planning, they could run Newman/Locke from the palazzo, when the kids were on break. Right now, all he wanted to think about was marrying her. They kissed until Nikki knocked on the door. She was there to help Victoria get ready.

Ashland got ready to leave because he wanted to preserve the tradition of not seeing Victoria in her dress. She called him a romantic. He promised everything would be okay today, and he tried to kiss her, but she wouldn’t let him because she wanted their next kiss to be as husband and wife. He left the room. Nikki asked how Victoria slept. She barely slept, and she mentioned that Ashland left in the middle of the night and took a walk. Victoria felt great now though, and she couldn’t be more excited. She was sure today would be the most incredible day of her life.

Nikki forgot to get something old, new borrowed and blue. Victoria said that Victor’s spectacular wedding gift covered all of that, plus her relationship with Ashland was unconventional. Victoria said she’d experienced that tradition enough times. Nikki said they both had, but you still went into marriages with hopes and dreams, no matter what happened before. Nikki said Ashland was complicated, and Nikki knew about loving a complicated man. Victoria was clear about what she was going through. She’d never felt a connection like this before – she never felt so loved and appreciated and seen. It was a little shocking to find out about his past, the way she did and she knew a lot of people were invested in seeing her relationship fail, but she was pushing that aside and thinking about what she wanted and how she felt. She said he was still the man she fell in love with, and she knew he loved her too. That was all Nikki wanted for Victoria. She’d always be protective of Victoria, but she just wanted Victoria to be sure. Victoria was. Nikki hoped Victoria and Ashland would be able to enjoy that happiness for a long time. Victoria went to the closet and unzipped the garment bag. “What the…? This isn’t my dress,” she exclaimed.

Victoria said that she spoke with Lauren about making a few alterations, but this was a completely different dress. Nikki suggested Ashland got it, but Victoria was sure he wouldn’t take a chance like that. She wondered if it was a gift from Summer, then she said no, Summer would’ve told her about it. Nikki suggested Fenmore’s sent the wrong dress. Victoria looked the dress over. She thought it was breathtaking, but it wasn’t hers. Nikki suggested that Victoria try it on.

Billy walked into the palazzo living room. Victor was there, and he said he’d thought Lily had the sense to convince Billy to leave. Billy assumed Victor knew all about Gaines and Ashland’s secret. He said Gaines had mysteriously disappeared, and he asked if Victor had anything to do with that. Billy said that if Victor didn’t have anything to do with that, there was a problem because Gaines was a wildcard who’d been waiting a long time to cause damage. Victor blamed Billy for Gaines being here, and he vowed that Billy would pay one day. Victor told Billy to get lost. Billy sensed that Victor didn’t know where Gaines was, and he thought Victor was worried about what Gaines would do.

Billy returned to his room and told Lily that Johnny, Katie and Harrison were having a great time with the nanny the Newmans hired, but the bad news was there was no sign of Gaines. She suggested Gaines left, but he said guys like Gaines didn’t just leave. He thought Gaines was hiding and biding his time, or something happened to him.

In their bedroom, Nick told Phyllis that he was determined to get Victoria’s trust back, no matter how long it took. He apologized that things were a little tense between him and Phyllis last night. She clarified that she wasn’t tense, he was. She said that she just didn’t like the way his sister was treating him. “Well, I apologize, so…” he replied and he started toward the door. She didn’t think that was actually an apology. He kept walking and left. He returned later, after she was dressed. She spun around to show off her dress and cape. He loved it, but he’d decided not to go to the wedding. She groaned that he had to go. When he was on his walk, he’d weighed his options and decided not to go. He wanted Victoria to be happy and stress-free. Phyllis contended that Victoria had never been stress-free in her life, and she was marrying a guy who took on another guy’s identity. She didn’t understand why he suddenly wasn’t going, but she said it was his family, so he should do what he wanted. She wondered whether or not she should go. He thought she should. She noted that she’d be going to his family event alone. She asked if he’d go to the reception, and he said he’d think about it.

Nick and Billy ran into each other in the hallway. Nick stated that Billy’s plan to get Victoria to call off the wedding failed. He asked if Billy was planning any last minute fireworks. Billy wasn’t going to intervene. He thought the wedding was a mistake, though and he believed Nick agreed, since he wasn’t dressed for the event. Billy knew Nick cared about Victoria, and Billy did too.

Sally was alone on the patio when Adam came up and asked if she slept well. She hadn’t. She was so nervous because today could make or break her career. It all depended on Victoria’s reaction to the dress. He assured her that the dress was beautiful, and she asked if he really thought so. He said even if he didn’t, the plan was already in motion. He suggested she get some breakfast, but she was too wound up. He pointed out a path and told her she could go for a run and get a great view of the countryside. He’d go with her, but he just got back, and he’d hate to embarrass her by leaving her in the dust. “You had to go there, just when I was starting to think that you were actually a good influence on me,” she joked. He said he’d been called a lot of things in his life but never a good influence.

Later, Adam was alone when Victor joined him. Victor thought Adam promised to make this a perfect day for his sister. Confused, Adam said he did. “Then son, why the hell did you bring that woman as your date?,” Victor asked. Adam said Sally promised not to do anything to sabotage the wedding. He said that if he and Victor were judged on their past actions, they wouldn’t be here. He respected Sally for trying to make amends, and he thought she deserved a second chance. Victor sarcastically said it warmed the cockles of his heart. Adam changed the subject to Gaines and said he heard Victor and Ashland talking last night. Victor said Billy brought Gaines thinking it’d cause Victoria to call off the wedding, but now he knew that Victoria was aware of Ashland’s history. Victor was sure that Gaines was planning to cause trouble. Adam was willing to help in any way he could. Victor said to just make sure this was a wonderful day for Victoria.

After Adam left, Ashland joined Victor and asked if there was any sign of Gaines. There hadn’t been, and Victor thought Gaines may have taken the money Victor gave him and gotten out of Dodge. Ashland hoped so, but he worried Gaines was still around here somewhere, and even if Gaines left the palazzo, he was still a threat. Victor told Ashland to relax, and they’d deal with that when the time came. Victor said Ashland was marrying one of the most powerful beautiful women in the world. Ashland asked why Victor said “one of.” “Have you seen her mother?,” Victor replied. Victor left, and Ashland thought he was alone, so he let his frailty show. He gripped the back of a chair for balance. Nate walked out, and Ashland pretended he was stretching, not using a chair to hold himself upright. Nate wanted to know the truth. Ashland said he was just stressed about the wedding. He was sure Billy hoped he’d collapse and be unable to get married, but he said nothing would stop him from marrying the woman of his dreams, not a jealous ex, people trying to exploit his past, or this dreadful disease. Nate advised that Ashland conserve his energy. Ashland said that once he saw the woman who loved and accepted him for who he was, everything else would fall away. He’d never thought he’d have unconditional love. Nate noticed that when Ashland talked about Victoria, his breathing became stronger and more steady. Ashland said Victoria was good for him.

Noah, Summer, Kyle and Tessa chatted in the living room. Kyle had heard about Noah’s latest exhibition from Summer. Noah told a story about how a mishap with the exhibition was avoided, and it lead to a lot of good press for him. Summer said Noah was the darling of the art world now. Noah thought she was overstating it, but she said she wanted to brag about her older brother. She said he created an amazing life in London, and his career was skyrocketing, so she didn’t understand why yesterday, he said he was looking for a change. He felt like there was something more for him out there. Tessa asked where he’d go. He said as great as it was to live abroad, there was no place like home. Kyle was caught off guard, Summer was sure that Noah was joking. He said they loved life in Milan now, but they might decide to come back to Genoa City too one day. Sally walked in and the conversation dried up. Sally commented that this was awkward. Sally understood she wasn’t Summer’s favorite person, since she was slightly responsible for Summer’s move to Milan. Summer said Sally was rewriting history since Sally and Tara were involved from the beginning, and the job at Marchetti was Sally’s idea. Sally congratulated Summer on the job and the wedding. Kyle asked why Sally was even here. Sally said she was Adam’s date. “So much for his claims about wanting to make things right with the Newmans,” Kyle replied. Sally said she and Adam wanted Victoria to have a perfect day. Sally introduced herself to Noah. He shook her hand and mentioned that he was Summer’s brother. Sally guessed he’d heard of her, and she said some of it was true, and some of it wasn’t. Summer didn’t want to discuss this anymore since today was about Victoria. Sally agreed, and she suggested that they pretend it was water under the bridge and be civil.

Jack ran into Adam. Jack thought Adam had evolved, but here he was, using his sister’s wedding to get under people’s skin. Adam wasn’t aware that he was doing that. Jack said Adam brought Sally to the wedding knowing what she did to Summer. Sally walked up and overheard Adam say Jack should ask himself why he really objected to Sally being his date. Sally joined the men, and Jack excused himself. Sally wished she thought this trip through. She was so concerned about getting her dress to Victoria that she forgot she was the last person any of these people wanted to see. Adam knew from experience that you got used to it. He told her she should go get changed so she could make the pitch when the time was right. She was still in her running gear, and she rushed off.

Sally returned in a dress that wowed Adam. She said she hoped he meant his compliment in a strictly professional sense. Nikki found Victor, who was talking to Summer and Kyle. She pulled him away and whispered that they delivered the wrong dress. He didn’t see why that was a big deal. She hissed that he bride had the wrong dress. He still seemed mystified about why this was an issue. He asked if Victoria was refusing to wear it. Sally overheard all this and rushed off. Summer and Kyle made a comment to Adam about Sally’s abrupt departure. Adam replied that Sally wanted the wedding to go well. Kyle asked why Sally would be invested in Victoria and Ashland’s wedding. Summer sensed Adam and Sally were up to something.

Sally went upstairs and knocked on Victoria’s door. Victoria saw Sally and was about to close the door, until Sally blurted out that she was behind the wedding dress switch. Victoria insisted that Sally come inside and explain herself. Sally explained that she designed this dress specifically for Victoria. Victoria realized Sally hoped she’d see the dress and either not notice or fall in love with it anyway. Victoria said Sally had badly miscalculated, and she’d clearly learned nothing from all the other stunts she’d pulled. Sally knew it was a risky move, but she was sure she was right. She asked if Victoria fell in love with the dress Lauren’s designer made. Did it spark joy? Sally said it didn’t, and it couldn’t because that designer didn’t consider the woman it was made for. Sally designed this dress after studying every detail of who Victoria was – her style, body type, the way she moved, her strength and elegance. Sally designed a dress that captured Victoria’s essence. Victoria asked where the first dress was and she asked if Sally destroyed it. Sally sighed that Victoria really thought the worst of her. Sally had the dress in her room, and she’d give it back after Victoria tried on the new one. Sally knew Victoria would fall in love with the new dress. Nikki walked in and demanded to know what Sally was doing here. Victoria ordered Sally to go get her dress and hang it on the door. Sally left.

Phyllis went out to the patio in her dress, which she told everyone was a Marchetti. Summer asked where her dad was, and Phyllis said he was being fashionably late, as usual. Summer said that actually wasn’t like him. Noah figured Nick was skipping the wedding. Noah said he’d go straighten this out, but Phyllis said they had to respect Nick’s choice. Jack waved at Phyllis, and she went over to him.

Billy was on the patio when Lily called and said she was having a hair emergency. He overheard Victor tell Ashland about the dress situation. Billy assured Lily that she had some company since Victoria was having issues getting ready too.

Sally came back outside just as Nikki directed the guests to take their seats. Ashland brought Harrison out, then he and Nikki exchanged smiles. Leslie began to play the piano. Victoria walked out, and Sally’s mouth fell open. Victoria was in the dress Sally designed. Summer whispered to Kyle that the dress was stunning. She wondered who designed it. Adam told Sally she did well. Phyllis grudgingly told Jack that she’d never seen Victoria look more beautiful. Victor joined Victoria and told her she looked stunning. She thanked him for everything, and he kissed her on the cheek.

Gaines went to Nick and Phyllis’ empty bedroom and looked out the window. Nick returned and asked who Gaines was and what he was doing here.

“How dare you bring that horrible man here.” At the palazzo, Victoria confronted Billy while Lily and Ashland watched. Billy tried to explain, but Victoria didn’t want to hear it because there was nothing he could say to justify trying to hurt her this way. Billy assumed that Gaines said something to upset Victoria. He swore that this wasn’t the way he wanted her to find out about Ashland’s past. Victoria clarified that she didn’t talk to Gaines, and she didn’t need to because she knew the whole story. Billy doubted that. Ashland said he told Victoria all about the real Ashland’s death and the inheritance fraud. Victoria accused Billy of hoping to find some deep dark secret that would blow up her entire relationship. Lily thought Billy just wanted Victoria to know what she was getting into. Scoffing, Victoria said if that were true, Billy would be relieved that Ashland confided in her instead of being a shattered mess because he wasn’t the one who got to drop the bomb. Billy denied being a shattered mess. Victoria said Billy knew how important this wedding was to her. She stated that Ashland was in chemo, and he was fighting so hard to make this a beautiful ceremony that they could cherish the rest of their lives. She said Billy was trying to take that from them. She ordered him to stop harassing them and let her go. Victoria and Ashland left.

Lily stared out the window. Billy hoped she didn’t let what Victoria said get to her. “There’s nothing wrong with us trying to uncover the truth,” he said. “You – not ‘us,’” Lily replied. She felt that he went too far bringing Gaines to what Victoria wanted to be a joyous and stress-free event. Billy said Ashland kind of attacked Billy’s credibility, so he brought Gaines because he didn’t think Victoria would take his word for it without proof. Lily said that was because Billy incorrectly thought Ashland would lie. She told him to admit it. He conceded that he didn’t expect Ashland to come clean about all the crimes he committed. Lily reminded Billy that when they fell in love, he told her about all the things he did that he was ashamed of. She said maybe not everything Ashland did was cold and calculated – maybe he actually loved Victoria and they had something real. Lily didn’t think Billy liked hearing her say that.

Billy said he didn’t have a hidden agenda. He asserted that Victoria was pushing that angle because she was in denial about how serious Ashland’s crimes were. Lily said that might be because Victoria didn’t think something that happened 40 years ago was relevant to who Ashland was today. Billy suggested that Victoria was trying to protect Ashland because of the merger. He wouldn’t be surprised if her father pushed her into it. Lily didn’t think Victoria’s motives mattered – all that was important was that she was standing by Ashland, and Billy’s plan backfired. Billy thought that Victoria had been so defensive earlier because Ashland’s crimes bothered her, which they should, because the guy was a liar and a criminal. “Billy, I need you to listen to me okay? The wedding is happening tomorrow whether you like it or not,” Lily firmly said. Billy asked if Lily wanted him to just drop it and let Victoria make a mistake. Lily said all the guests were doing their best to celebrate Ashland and Victoria, and if she and Billy couldn’t do that, they didn’t belong here. She told him the kids could fly home on Victor’s jet. He didn’t think that was necessary. He didn’t apologize or trying to uncover the truth, and he didn’t think Ashland deserved credit for confessing due to the pressure of the investigation. Lily noted that Victoria was still marrying Ashland. Billy said he’d pay Gaines some more money to convince him to abandon the plan to get revenge, then he’d buy him a first class plane ticket. He thought he and Lily should be at the wedding so that his kids saw that their parents supported each other. He knew Victoria would need support when Ashland started to deteriorate, and he wanted her to know she could count on him. Lily was impressed by Billy’s shift in attitude. He said this whole time he’d been trying to do the right thing – Victoria had been hurt a lot, mostly by him. Lily knew Billy was just trying to make amends in his own antagonistic way. He also wanted Lily to know that he loved and was committed to her her, and he thought they should go to the wedding so she could see that he wasn’t hung up on his ex. She knew he was passionate and that he’d go to extremes for the people he loved, which was exhausting, but endearing. They kissed.

Out on the patio, Phyllis wondered where Jack went, and Kyle said he was off playing with Harrison. Summer said Harrison was so sweet that all her fears about being a stepmom had melted away. She couldn’t imagine their lives without him. Kyle praised how Summer was with Harrison. Noah teased Summer about her huge clothing collection, and she teased him back by saying she wore outfits once then gave them away. When he believed her, she laughed at him for being gullible. Kyle, Summer, Phyllis and Noah were all chatting and having a great time, but Nick was just silently taking it all in. Kyle, Summer and Noah went to refill their wine glasses, and Phyllis commented that Nick was so quiet. He said it was all good.

Adam and Sally got to the palazzo, and her confidence faltered. He asked what her next move was. She said she guessed she’d just corner Victoria and convince her to try on the dress. Adam said that if Victoria saw Sally first, she’d never get a chance to unzip the garment bag. He had another idea.

Jack joined everyone out on the patio and told Kyle and Summer that Harrison wanted a bedtime story. The newlyweds left. Noah asked Nick if there was any progress with Victoria. Nick said he was giving her space, like she asked. Phyllis thought that whatever was going on with Victoria had very little to do with Nick. Nick wanted them to be on their best behavior. Phyllis sensed that what he was really saying was that he wanted her to be on her best behavior, and she asked why she wouldn’t be. Noah changed the subject and said he wondered where Ashland and Victoria were.

Up in their bedroom, Victoria paced around ranting. She said she was so supportive when Billy moved in with Lily – she even bought them a plant. Ashland thought Billy was in love with Victoria. Victoria wasn’t sure that was true. She thought it was more about Billy’s enormous ego, but even if he were in love with her, she wondered what Billy hoped to accomplish. Victoria said she’d never trust Billy again. Ashland said Billy wasn’t their problem – Gaines was. He thought Gaines wanted to publicly humiliate him. She said they should have security throw him out. Ashland went to handle it.

Tessa arrived in Tuscany and talked with Nate and Elena in the palazzo living room. They asked where Mariah was. Tessa said Mariah decided not to come. Later, after Elena and Nate were gone, Nikki and Victor came in and introduced Leslie and Tessa. Tessa and Leslie had video chatted earlier about the song they were going to perform at the ceremony, and they were both excited about working together. Leslie, Tessa and Nikki went off to chat. Adam came downstairs and greeted Victor, just as Noah and Nick came in from outside. Victor was delighted to have three generations together. Adam and Noah were civil, but it was awkward. Adam complimented the job Noah did on the Newman Media branding package. Victor appreciated that they all came and that they were trying to get along. Across the room, Tessa sang while Leslie was at the piano. Noah looked moved as he stared at Tessa and listened to the love song.

Adam headed out to the patio and chatted with Nate and Elena. Elena asked if Adam caught up with Billy after they missed each other at Society. he said he did, but it didn’t go well, so he’d steer clear of Billy in Tuscany. On the other side of the patio, Phyllis griped about Adam having the audacity to show up. Jack was sure Victor was glad he did. “Does it bother you at all what he’s done to his family?,” she asked. She said that this family drove her crazy. Jack told Phyllis to let it go because this would be over soon.

Victoria did her makeup and damned Billy. She said she wasn’t going to let him ruin this night for her. She left the bedroom, and Sally sneaked in with the dress. Sally was going to put her dress in the closet and take the wedding dress that Victoria already had. Victoria suddenly returned, so Sally hid. Victoria got her shoulder wrap. She noticed that her closet door was open, and she found it odd, but she just closed it and left. Victoria went downstairs and listened to the music, then she joined Victor, who was now alone on the couch. He asked if she was okay, and she said yes. Nick and Noah returned and Victoria turned away from her brother.

Nick went back outside and talked with Phyllis. She told him Victoria would come around and Victoria would owe him a big apology. Nick knew Phyllis didn’t like his sister, but he said exploiting this wasn’t helping. She said she wasn’t exploiting it, she was sympathizing with him. He didn’t see it that way, and he walked off. Jack joined Phyllis and told her Nick was upset, so she shouldn’t take it personally. Phyllis said that didn’t make it any better, and she walked away.

Noah approached Tessa and told her didn’t realize until now how much he missed her. The exes found a private place to chat, and she asked how London was. It was going well, he had three commissions. She marveled that he was doing photography for a living, she was singing, and they were both living the dream. He thought she was smarter than him when choosing a dream to pursue. He loved art, but it was different than the music world. He said that when people paid to hear her sing, it was because they loved her voice, but sometimes people bought his art as an investment and intended to flip it like a condo. It could be a little discouraging. Once, a client offered to pay him to make less art, that way the value of the pieces he already owned would go up. She said if it made him feel better, music was commercial too. They bantered with each other, and he gazed at her.

Sally found Adam and said mission accomplished, now they just had to see how the bride reacted. The dress was designed specifically to Victoria’s taste and figure, so she had to believe that Victoria would love it. Kyle and Summer came outside laughing about something cute Harrison did. Adam congratulated them on the wedding. Summer saw Sally and asked what she was doing here. Adam said Sally was his date.

Later, Adam and Sally were off somewhere else, and Jack and Phyllis were with Summer and Kyle. They were talking about Adam saying Sally was his date. Summer thought it was tacky. Summer doubted Victor knew Adam was bringing Sally, because there was no way Victor would want Sally here after the way she treated Summer. Kyle said that if it bothered Summer that much, she could tell Victor, who’d surely have Sally thrown out. Phyllis loved that idea, but Summer didn’t want Sally to get the satisfaction of knowing she got under their skin. Jack told Phyllis that Summer had the right idea, and he said she should stay away from Sally and any ice buckets. Phyllis said Sally should stay away from her.

Elsewhere on the patio, Adam noted that Sally liked riling people up. She said everyone needed a hobby. She figured she should probably go to bed, since his family would probably be less likely to wake her up to throw her out. He said his dad and sister had more important things to worry about than ousting Sally. She went inside.

Adam went inside too and saw Ashland whisper something to Victor. Victoria also saw them speaking. Victor and Ashland stepped outside. Victor was glad when Ashland told him that Victoria put Billy in his place. Now they had to be concerned with Gaines. Ashland knew it wouldn’t be easy to get rid of Gaines – it wasn’t the money, he had a score to settle. Ashland said even if they could keep Gaines from the wedding, he could still damage Newman/Locke. Victor said that wouldn’t happen. They walked away, and Adam stepped out from around the corner, where he’d been eavesdropping.

Victoria got ready for bed. Ashland came in and said he and Victor briefed the security team on the situation. He promised Gaines would be found and removed. Victoria hoped everything would go smoothly at the wedding. He assured her it would and that this time tomorrow, they’d be married. They kissed.

Elena and Nate found a private spot to talk and enjoy the night air. They heard Leslie playing, and they danced.

Phyllis found Nick sitting alone and she joined him. He apologized for snapping at her earlier. She said it was hard for her to hang out with his family, because they didn’t like or trust her, and the feeling was mutual. But she was doing this for him. He said he was out of line, and it wouldn’t happen again. She teased that she didn’t fully forgive him, and he’d have to work for it. Jack strolled to the patio doorway and his mouth fell open when he saw Phyllis and Nick talking. Nikki joined Jack and asked if he’d seen Victor.

Lily and Billy were in bed, basking in the afterglow and listening to the music outside their room. She was glad they didn’t leave. She admired his ability to course-correct. He asked if there was anything else she admired. She whispered something in his ear, and they kissed.

Mariah invited Kevin for coffee at Crimson Lights, and he came. She recently went back to work, and everyone had been amazing. He thought it was too bad that she couldn’t take more time off and go to Italy with Tessa. Mariah said that she was going to go, but the baby got sick. Kevin was concerned, and Mariah said it was just a cold. Kevin asked why Mariah couldn’t go with Tessa then. Mariah explained that Abby was talking about weaning Dominic while she was gone, and Mariah thought that was too soon. Especially when the baby was sick, and breast milk was good for the immune system. Kevin understood Mariah’s protectiveness, since he had a baby too. She pointed out that Dominic wasn’t her baby. He said she and Dominic went through a lot together. Kevin could relate to Mariah’s ordeal, due to his childhood. Mariah had heard the stories. He said he knew what it was like to be locked in a small space for a very long period of time. Mariah said she was doing okay with that aspect of it. She got a little jumpy if she heard footsteps behind her, and she didn’t like it being too quiet or being alone for too long, but she could function. She asked how his kids were doing.

Kevin pulled out his phone to show off photos of Miles and Bella. Miles was walking. Mariah realized she missed his birthday. Kevin knew Mariah was otherwise occupied, and birthday parties for babies were pointless because babies didn’t care. He joked that if Mariah and Tessa had kids, they shouldn’t even invite the baby to the party. Tessa called, and Kevin stepped away from the table. Mariah asked how Tessa was and if she was jet lagged. Tessa slept on the plane. She whispered that this place was over the top in the best way, and everyone was asking about Mariah. Tessa was excited about getting to meet Leslie Brooks. Mariah said she didn’t get much sleep last night, and she was buried in work, so she couldn’t talk now. The call ended. Kevin wondered about Mariah blowing off her girlfriend. Mariah didn’t want to talk about it now. Right now she just wanted to hear about the kids. He told her about Bella’s dance recital. She was dressed as a mouse, but another little girl was dressed as a giant sugar cube. Kevin could barely contain his laughter as he explained that the sugar cube child fell and wasn’t able to get back up because of her costume. Mariah didn’t get into the story and laugh with Kevin.

At the palazzo, Victoria walked in on Victor and Ashland in a tense discussion, and she asked what was wrong. Ashland declared that he was through hiding things from Victoria. He was about to tell her everything, but Victor interjected that he and Ashland were having a the kind of discussion that a man had with his future son in law. Ashland went with the story and said he and Victor were going to make sure this wedding went off without a hitch. Victoria thought that meant something that needed to be dealt with. Victor told Victoria that all she needed to know was that any potential threat was under control. He left. Victoria asked Ashland what was really going on. Ashland said he’d had some trouble breathing, but he was fine now and Billy came to his rescue. She mentioned that Billy had been calling her non-stop, and he seemed eager to confront her with some news. Ashland told Victoria that there was nothing Billy knew that she didn’t already know. She said her mom told Billy not to come, but she was glad he did because she couldn’t wait to see how crushed he’d be when he found out he flew all this way for nothing. She wondered where Billy was now. Ashland told Victoria not to worry about it.

In their room at the palazzo, Phyllis had just learned that Nick was thinking of leaving. At first, she though about her dress going to waste, but then she said that she was willing to follow his lead on whether to stay or go. She promised to keep the disparaging remarks about Victoria to herself. He didn’t think he could sway Victoria. Victoria had said he could stay, but he didn’t want to be a dark cloud over the wedding. Just as Nick said he wanted to leave, Noah (now played by Rory Gibson) walked in. He could tell something was wrong with his father, and he’d noticed it at Kyle and Summer’s wedding too. Phyllis left so they could talk in private. Nick told Noah about the clash with Victoria. Nick was leaving because he didn’t want to stay where he wasn’t wanted. That sounded like an excuse to Noah. He thought that Nick should stay and fight for Victoria’s forgiveness if it was really that important to him. Nick said he wouldn’t have looked into Ashland’s past if he didn’t care about Victoria. Noah stated that Nick always taught him not to run from a challenge. Noah said he’d be disappointed if Nick didn’t follow through on his own advice.

Billy ended up on the patio in his search for Gaines. Jack and Nikki started to chat with him. Nikki asked where Lily and the kids were. He said they should be here any second, then he excused himself. Nikki didn’t know what Billy was doing, but she was wary. Victor walked out, and Nikki took him aside and warned him about Billy. He assured her that he had it under control. Across the area, Jack observed Nikki and Victor’s quiet talk, and he told Elena and Nate that there seemed to be some intrigue. He hoped it had nothing to do with his brother. Nate wondered if he should check on Ashland. Leslie Brooks arrived and caught up with her old friends, Victor, Nikki and Jack. Jack introduced her to Elena and Nate. Nikki was thrilled Leslie could play for Victoria and Ashland’s ceremony.

Jack saw his brother walking around looking everywhere and went over to see what he was up to. Billy claimed he was looking for Lily, and Jack didn’t believe him. He thought Billy was up to something regarding the wedding. Billy looked at his phone and lied and said he just got a text from Lily saying she was lost on the estate. Billy rushed off. Phyllis joined Jack

Victoria and Ashland came downstairs, and she wondered if they’d planned too many events – there was the cocktail party, the big family ceremony, and the reception. He assured her that he was more than ready. They walked out hand in hand. Everyone applauded. Leslie spoke with Ashland and Victoria, and Ashland asked if he could impose upon Leslie to play one of his favorite pieces. She was happy to do so as a gift to the happy couple. Leslie went inside and began to play as everyone listened out on the patio. Elena and Nate observed how happy Ashland and Victoria were, and it helped him find inspiration for his best man toast.

Billy burst into the bedroom saying “damn it where are you?” Lily thought he was talking to her, and she said she was right here. He said he didn’t know she was here since she didn’t text him. She explained that she’d been busy juggling the kids and luggage with minimal Italian. The Palazzo staff had promised Lily they’d alert Billy, but apparently they didn’t. She said the kids were napping, because they were cranky after the flight. She was annoyed that he seemed unhappy to see her. He gave her a quick kiss and assured her he was thrilled to see her. He asked how Mattie was. Mattie was fine, but she was so brilliant that she was struggling to find people on her wavelength. Lily wondered who he’d been expecting to find in this room since he didn’t know she’d arrived. He pretended not to know what she meant. She said he was flustered, and she asked what he’d done now. He kept covering, but she wanted to know the truth. He told her that he found evidence that Ashland committed fraud by altering Camilla Rhodes’ will. He’d paid Gaines a hefty sum for the information. She thought Victoria needed to hear this information.

Billy told Lily how he brought Gaines to Tuscany and lost him. She didn’t think he was right to bring Gaines here. He explained that he was going to introduce Gaines and Victoria, so he could tell her everything and she could make her decision, but now he was missing. Lily asked what Billy was hoping to accomplish – a newsworthy exposure of Ashland right before the wedding? He didn’t want a big showdown, and he didn’t plan to publish the information. He just wanted Victoria to know she was about to marry a liar and a fraud. He had no idea where Gaines was now. At one point he’d wondered if Victor’s security team found Gaines and threw him out. Lily didn’t think so, because if that happened, Victor would’ve tossed Billy too. Billy said Gaines despised Ashland, and he might have his own plan.

Noah greeted Victoria and met Ashland. Noah thought Ashland was lucky to have Victoria, and Ashland agreed. Noah mentioned Ashland showed excellent taste choosing Nate, who’d done a lot for the family over the years. Noah hoped to get to know Ashland better, maybe they could meet up next time Noah came home to visit. Ashland thought Noah was charming. Noah hoped Victoria didn’t mind, but he convinced his dad to stay. At that point, Nick came up and stared at Victoria from inside the patio doors.

Summer and Kyle arrived, and everyone clapped, then they went around hugging their family. Victoria wished she’d been at Summer and Kyle’s wedding. Summer understood that Victoria was busy working so she could take time off for her own wedding. Kyle said Summer had become a bit of a celebrity. People in the fashion district recognized her on the street. Nick, who’d joined the party outside, said he always knew his Supergirl would be a star. Ashland was thrilled Summer and Kyle were here and more importantly, that they were taking such good care of Harrison. He asked where his son was, and at that moment, Harrison ran out of the house and into Ashland’s arms.

Everyone chatted and mingled while Ashland held Harrison and Nick and Victoria looked at each other from across the room. Jack told Phyllis that it looked like Victoria and Nick called a truce. Phyllis thought maybe Noah talked Nick out of leaving. Jack hoped so, because he’d hate it if Phyllis had to leave already. Phyllis wasn’t sure how it’d work out, but she wanted to stay so she could spend time with her daughter. She thought Summer’s wedding was beautiful intimate affair, unlike this drama-filled event. Jack thought Phyllis liked drama. She did, but not like this. She felt like she could never say the right thing to Nick about his sister. She was an outsider in the family, and she thought the way they treated each other was horrific. Jack insisted that Phyllis wasn’t an outsider, especially to Nick. Phyllis commented on how supportive Jack was being of Nick and of her relationship with Nick. She thought he was overcompensating for what he’d said before, and she didn’t think that was necessary. Jack said he only wanted the best for Phyllis, and she replied that she found this exhausting. She wanted him to stop trying to humor her and stop being so careful, because it was annoying. She knew she could be annoying sometimes. She wanted their relationship to go back to normal, and he agreed to do that.

Nate and Elena talked with Leslie. Elena asked if it ever got old for people to ask her to play. Leslie said it came with the profession. She likened it to the way people must discuss their health issues with Elena and Nate. Leslie believed it was a duty to share your gifts, plus she enjoyed performing. Leslie assumed Nate and Ashland were old friends, since Nate was best man. She asked what he thought of Ashland. Nate clarified that they only met recently, but he was impressed with Ashland. Leslie understood Ashland and Victoria were devoted to starting fresh, and she liked the idea of not looking back. Nate agreed.

Nikki joined Nick and told him that Noah was a talented confident young man who reminded her of Nick. Nick mentioned that Noah just gave him some of his own advice. Nick brought Nikki up to speed on how he failed to patch things up with Victoria, and he was thinking of leaving. Nikki wasn’t happy to hear that. He wanted to wait and see how things played out. He’d said his piece and did his best to convince Victoria that everything he did was for her sake, but he couldn’t force her to be okay with it. Nikki asked Nick to try and be patient with his sister.

Jack told Kyle he was glad he and Summer found their way back to each other. He missed Kyle and Harrison, but he was glad of the way Kyle and Summer missed up. He was also proud of the way Kyle honored the bond between Harrison and the man who raised him. Kyle said that Harrison missed Tara and Ashland, but he was a happy child, and his happiness came first. He was glad to be able to give Harrison time with Ashland. Jack was touched that Kyle put his son’s happiness first. Kyle said he learned that from Jack, and they hugged.

Noah and Summer talked in private about their dad. She wondered why Nick was being so weird, both here and in Milan. Noah caught Summer up on the problem with Nick and Victoria. Summer was surprised Nick and Victoria were still fighting at this stage in life instead of realizing that they’d make up eventually and just doing so now. Noah wasn’t sure people grew out of sibling rivalry. Summer said she and Noah did. Noah didn’t love being away from the family, but he didn’t miss the constant drama. Summer could relate – she missed everyone from Genoa City, but it was chaos-free in Milan. Noah teased Summer about being a married old lady, and she said everyone would expect him to get married next. He didn’t think settling down would be the worst thing in the world. She was surprised because she thought he liked casually dating. He explained that after the example Nick and Sharon set, he didn’t trust relationships to last. He was sure Summer understood since Nick and Phyllis were like that too. He brought up the roller coaster she and Kyle used to be on, and he was sure that got old. She said she and Kyle were on again off again for a really long time until they realized they wanted to be together forever. Noah admired that and wanted it for himself someday. Summer invited Noah for a long visit or suggested he move there. She’d met so many amazing women she could introduce him to. He said he had been thinking about a change of scenery.

Victor got everyone’s attention and made a toast to Ashland and Victoria. Victor said Ashland was almost as ruthless as he was, but Victoria was a worthy adversary. He said that Victoria and Ashland merged their companies and created an empire that he hoped would honor the legacy of Newman and Locke. Victor saw the love between Victoria and Ashland, and it meant a lot to him. Victor said that fathers never thought anyone was good enough for their daughter, but Ashland was a good man. Victor welcomed Ashland to the family. Ashland privately thanked Victor after the speech. Victor sent Ashland to make sure Billy didn’t do anything. Ashland went looking for Billy and ran into Gaines instead. Gaines heard Victor’s speech, and he said perhaps he should go make a speech about the way Ashland built an empire on deceit and criminal behavior. He suggested that he might announce it tomorrow before the ceremony, or maybe he’d make Ashland so nervous that he’d call off the wedding. Victoria joined Ashland and asked what was going on. Gaines told the pair to enjoy their evening, and he left. Victoria guessed that was Gaines. Ashland was going to call security, but Victoria told him not to because she was going to handle it. She walked off, and he followed.

Back in their room, Lily asked what Billy thought Gaines was going to do. He didn’t know. He thought Gaines was very disappointed that Billy didn’t want to interrupt the wedding. Lily said that Billy couldn’t let Gaines wreck the ceremony. He knew because if that happened, Victoria would never forgive him. Victoria and Ashland walked in. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?,” Victoria asked.

Nate told Elena he came up with a perfect angle for his speech. He said he and Ashland were from different generations, and they didn’t know each other from the business world. Ashland was a new friend that Nate came to know under extraordinary circumstances. He talked about Ashland’s strength and fortitude under the face of adversity, who was marrying Victoria, who Nate wanted the best for. Elena loved the speech. She thought it was heartfelt and honest like the man who gave the speech. She suggested that they could focus on the romance of Italy and this amazing wedding now.
