Recap written by Christine

Ashley and Traci met at Society. they were going to have a girls day with their grandniece. They hoped Allie would move to Genoa City for good. They talked about Allie’s circumstances – her father was dead, and she was estranged from her mother. Traci and Ashley both knew what it was like to be estranged from your mom at an early age. Ashley thought it was tragic that Keemo didn’t reconcile with Jack before he died. Traci said the situation wasn’t the same, but it made her remember what it was like when she was in boarding school after Dina abandoned them. Traci had been nervous but glad she had her dad’s support. There was a flashback to young Traci and John. She said she wasn’t the perfect little girl for the president of Jabot Cosmetics to want to show off. John was emphatic that Traci was special and lovely, and he’d be proud to show her off to anyone. She said she was proud to be his daughter, and they hugged. Ashley shared her own memory too. Ashley was graduating with honors, but she didn’t tell her father about her accomplishment. She said she wanted him to come to her graduation for her, not for her grades. John was very proud. He said she could do anything, and she didn’t have to prove a thing to him. On the contrary, she felt that she had a lot to prove.

Ashley had gotten past her concerns about Allie. She thought it was important that they honor Jack and John by making Allie feel like she’d been part of the family from the beginning. Abby walked up and said she had the chef make a special menu for today. Allie arrived and hugged Abby. Abby said to let her know if they needed anything. She departed. Allie talked to her aunts, who explained that they thought she might want to ask them some questions about their lives. As they chatted, Allie noticed that the sisters finished each other’s sentences, and she thought that was nice. She said it was obvious they were close. Traci and Ashley agreed that they’d had their moments, but they’d always be sisters and friends. Ashley assured Allie that she couldn’t overstep when it came to family, so she could ask anything.

Traci and Ashley shared that Traci wrote a book on the Abbotts. Traci was going to get Allie a copy, but she thought it best for Allie to hear some of the stories in person first because some of them were a lot to take in. allie wasn’t sure where to start. Ashley suggested they start with Jabot, since Allie enjoyed the lab. Allie marveled about being connected to Jabot, which she called a behemoth. She was fascinated by the lab. Traci said Ashley was always happy in the lab. Ashley said she’d known what she wanted to do since she was a little girl, and fortunately, her father supported her. Allie said her dad was like that too. Keemo always cheered Allie on, but he’d been especially excited when she decided to follow in his footsteps and go into chemical engineering.

Allie thought it was amazing that Traci ventured out beyond the family business. Allie asked if Traci always knew she wanted to be a writer. Traci said she had no idea what she wanted to do when she was young. Ashley said that was because Traci was born with so many gifts. Traci was modest, but Ashley said Traci could’ve been a successful singer. They began to tell Allie about Danny Romalotti, the famous singer who used to live in Genoa City. Traci said that Danny saved her in many ways. At first she was his fan club president, then he asked her to sign with him. There was a flashback to Traci and Danny. He felt lucky to meet her. In the present, Traci said she discovered her real passion was for writing. Traci flashed back to getting a copy of her first book from Tim.

Allie commented on how accomplished and confident her aunts were. She wondered if they were this confident at her age, and they both laughed and said no. traci said your young adult years were exhilarating, but they could also be the most challenging time of your life. Traci said she’d struggled with her weight and insecurities, and a diet pill addiction almost cost her her life. Traci said she had to learn to love herself. Ashley talked about how difficult it was to watch Traci suffer through that. The family all loved Traci so much that they couldn’t believe she didn’t love herself. Allie was sure Traci must have had a lot of support, since everyone who met her seemed to love her.

Traci said Lauren Fenmore didn’t like her. Allie had heard of the Fenmore’s department stores. Traci said that sometimes she found ways to fight back. There was a flashback to Lauren ordering Traci a banana split as a way to needle her over her weight struggles. Traci poured the ice cream over Lauren’s head. Traci told Allie that Lauren was a torn in her side for years, and decades later, they became friends. There was a flashback to older Lauren and Traci. Lauren had deeply apologized for bullying Traci, and they hugged.

Allie asked if Ashley had a nemesis. Ashley said she and Nikki were romantic rivals. Traci told Allie that Nikki was Noah’s grandmother. There was a flashback to Nikki saying she wouldn’t let Ashley take her husband. Ashley told Allie she didn’t set out to make an enemy of Nikki, but it was just that Ashley and Victor had a very strong connection from the moment they met. Ashley said her early relationship with Victor came at a painful cost. There was a flashback to Ashley and Victor having an argument in the rain over Ashley having an abortion. She accused him of living in a fantasy world where the two of them and their baby could’ve lived a perfect life, but she knew it wouldn’t work out. He yelled that he thought they loved each other. She said she loved him desperately, but things changed. Victor told Ashley that he would’ve helped her with their child. She said that would’ve required him to betray his commitment to Nikki. She’d agonized for days to find an alternative that would work for everyone, but there wasn’t one. She felt that her family and her career was all she had left now.

Ashley said she and Victor made it through the dark days and they got married. Laughing, Traci said they got married more than once. There was a flashback to Victor giving Ashley an elegant watch. She felt that it was too much, since he’d just given her a gorgeous diamond pendant. He said he wanted to give her so much more. He wanted to make her life a fantasy. She said he already had, and they kissed. Ashley told Allie that she and Victor still had a bond, albeit a very different one. Abby walked up and she was part of that bond – an Abbott, Newman and a Carlton, in her heart. Abby joined the table. Traci said Brad Carlton was a successful executive at Newman and Jabot, but he came from modest roots. He was originally hired as the Abbott groundskeeper and pool man, but Traci couldn’t keep her eyes off him, and he knew it. There was a flashback to an early Traci and Brad scene. He insisted on taking her to the movies, because she was miserable, and he thought she needed to get out of the house and stop brooding.

Traci fell for Brad hard. In a flashback, he carried her over the threshold as newlyweds. Traci said that as much as she and Brad loved each other, they weren’t able to keep it together, but one beautiful thing came out of their love – their daughter, Colleen. Traci flashed to her and Brad with their newborn. Allie said she didn’t know Traci had a daughter. Traci explained that Colleen died when she was about Allie’s age. Allie was sorry. Traci reminisced about her smart, spirited artistic and determined daughter. Allie was curious how Traci got through it. Traci said for awhile she wasn’t sure she would, but her amazing family helped her got back on her feet.

Traci was sure Allie wondered how Ashley and Abby factored into Brad’s story. She said both Abbott sisters had a soft spot for him. Ashley clarified that Brad and Traci were over long before he started something with Ashley. Traci had no resentment for that anymore. Ashley said she’d been married several times – more than you could count on one hand, and there wasn’t enough time to talk about all her exes, so they’d just talk about Brad. Ashley wanted a child, and she was going to raise it on her own, but Brad had different ideas, and he courted her. Ashley gave birth to Abby on her wedding day to Brad. Things didn’t go as planned.

There was a flashback. Ashley was in a hospital bed. Victor was at the foot of the bed holding the newborn Abby, and Ashley became increasingly agitated when Victor wouldn’t give her the baby. Brad walked in. Ashley told Allie that Brad adopted Abby, and they had a sweet and wonderful family for awhile. Abby said no one knew Victor was her father for years. The way she saw it, she had two incredible dads growing up. Abby said Traci and Ashley were amazing role models. Traci and Ashley clasped hands.

Traci, Allie and Ashley went to the Abbott house, and Billy and Jack were there. Allie loved hearing about Ashley and Traci. Billy said his sisters were very different women, but they had things in common – bright minds, big hearts and phenomenal resilience. He said his sisters always wanted what was best for him, and they wanted the best for Allie too. Billy offered to give Allie another version of the Abbott story sometime. She was interested, so they agreed to meet up at some point. Ashley was concerned about what Billy was going to say. Billy gave a preview. He said everyone in the room had been through hell and back, but they’d always had each others’ backs, and he wasn’t sure where he’d be without his brother and sisters. Traci said she’d already told Allie about her darkest hours, and how grateful she was to have had her family to help her find her way.

Ashley said the most frightening time she’d experienced was when she was fighting for her life. She began to cry about the time she had breast cancer. There was a flashback to her talking to Jack about her stress. She said Brad was doing a great job taking care of her. Jack wanted Ashley to lean on her family. She thought he was saying to lean on them instead of Victor. He clarified that he never said that. He wanted her to be easy on herself. He was sure she’d get through this. Allie said these stories touched her heart. She felt that her family was special. Jack was glad Allie was talking about herself as one of them, because she was. He said the family’s strength started at the top, with her great grandfather, John Abbott. Jack said John could still be felt at the breakfast table. There was a flashback to Jack at the head of the table toasting to John and expressing thanks that his sisters were back in town and at the table with him again.

Traci said the family breakfasts were the most important tradition they had, and they were happy to have a seat at the table for Allie. Allie was enjoying herself, but Noah texted asking to hang out. She didn’t want to be rude and just leave, but her family encouraged her to go. Billy walked Allie out, since he was leaving too. Jack was grateful Ashley and Traci included Allie today. He thought she could benefit from having them in her life, especially since her mother cut ties. Ashley said they knew how that felt. Jack asked if Dina came up today. Traci said they didn’t go down that path because they didn’t want Allie to feel like they were pressuring her to talk about her own mother. Jack thought that was the right call. Allie’s last encounter with her mother was especially painful, and he wasn’t sure when they would see each other again.

Traci flashed back to the first time she saw Dina again, after Dina abandoned them. Traci said that when she was growing up, even before Dina left, she always felt like Dina didn’t want her around. Traci asked if Dina ever really wanted her. Dina admitted that she didn’t plan the pregnancy, but she was very happy to have another little girl. Traci asked why Dina never showed her that. Dina said she thought Traci was very beautiful.

Ashley remembered that when Dina came back, she revealed that Brent Davis was Ashley’s biological father. It shocked and hurt Ashley so badly that she developed amnesia. She thought it was so difficult for her to accept that she wasn’t John’s daughter. There was a flashback to John and Ashley. Sobbing, he told her that she brought him more joy than any father could ever ask. He implored her to remember him. She cried that she didn’t remember. He tried to touch her, but she pulled back.

Traci was relieved Ashley found her way back. Ashley was relieved John never learned the truth. Traci said the truth was that Ashley was John’s daughter and she always would be. Ashley never thought she’d be able to forgive Dina, but in last few months of Dina’s life, Ashley saw that Dina tried so hard to make up for those transgressions. There was a flashback to Ashley learning that Dina convinced John to put the patents for the cosmetics Ashley created into her name. Ashley cried happy tears because she finally knew Dina loved her. Ashley told Jack and Traci that she was grateful they were able to reconcile with Dina before her death. Traci was glad she found the things Dina wrote about her family before she was too far into her illness.

Jack said he was proud to call Traci and Ashley his sisters and to be part of the family. Traci marveled at how quickly time passed. It seemed like just yesterday that they were kids, and now there were children and grandchildren and nieces and nephews coming to them for advice. Ashley hoped the new generation would learn from the mistakes of the past, and Traci said they’d understand how lucky they were to be an Abbott. There were a variety of flashbacks focused on Ashley and Traci that were shown to conclude the commemoration of Beth Maitland (Traci) and Eileen Davidson’s (Ashley) 40 year anniversary on Young and the Restless.

Recap written by Christine

Jack and Diane got coffee at Crimson Lights after dinner at Society. Jill ran into them. Diane noted that Jill didn’t look like she’d seen a ghost. Jill said Billy told her about Diane’s return, plus she saw Diane at the Chancellor-Winters event. Diane thought Jill was going to rail at her. Jill didn’t want to rake Diane over the coals. She was actually impressed Diane managed to convincingly fake her death, then return and face the wrath of the people who hated her. Jill said it took more guts than actually dying.

Diane said people in this town could be brutal. Jill thought Diane deserved it. Diane felt deep remorse and took no pride in deceiving so many people, especially her son. Jill knew what it was like to have a lot of dirt hurled at you, and it was hard to get past that. Jill wanted to know how close Jack was to Diane. Diane said he barely tolerated her – they were just meeting to discuss their son. Jill thought anyone would be surprised to see Jack and Diane having coffee. Jack said it was a process – Diane wanted to connect with Kyle, and Jack wasn’t getting in her way. Diane said she appreciated it. Jill burst out laughing because she knew their three younger selves wouldn’t have been so mature. There would’ve been drinks hurled and accusations thrown. Jill said Jack and Diane had been fire and ice in the past, but now they were turning the page. At this stage of Jill’s life, she thought it was so foolish to hold grudges. She said they couldn’t change the past, so they might as well try to change themselves.

It was late, so Jack had to get home. Diane was going to leave too, but Jill asked her to stay and talk. Jill was fascinated by back from the dead stories. Diane said she wasn’t a vampire or zombie – she didn’t actually die, so there wasn’t anything to talk about. Jill understood Diane’s trepidation, but she noted that she was not a suspect in Diane’s murder. Jack left, and Diane decided to stay. Jill said there weren’t very many people in town who’d be seen in public with Diane, besides her. Diane wanted to know what this meeting was really about. Jill said she didn’t get to Genoa City often, but she was fiercely protective of her family and friends. Diane said she wasn’t a threat. Jill wanted to know what Diane was after.

Diane was only after a close relationship with her son. Jill thought Diane always had an angle. Diane said that was the old her. The new her would do anything to make up for the lost time with her son. Diane heard that Jill had lost years with her son when Billy was growing up. Jill said it was different because her son didn’t grow up thinking she was dead. Jill knew Diane loved her son, but it seemed like there was something else Diane wanted going forward. Jill thought she saw a twinkle in Diane’s eye every time she looked at Jack.
Diane asked why she would want to complicate things by dredging up romantic history with Jack. Jill saw how Diane had been hanging on Jack’s every word. Diane said she and Jack had a connection – they went way back and they shared a son. Diane said Jack was treading very carefully around her. Jill said they were talking about Diane’s inclinations, not Jack’s. Jill said Jack was the most eligible bachelor in the northern hemisphere – debonair, charming, handsome, suave, rich. Diane suggested that Jill was the one with her eye on Jack.

Diane noted that Jill had her own romantic history with Jack. Jill said that was a brilliant deflective technique, but she and Diane both knew that Jill wasn’t after Jack. Jill said that if Diane got Jack back, that would go a long way toward convincing the people in this town that she was worthy of forgiveness. Jill said it would be a masterful move, and Diane was the master of those. Diane said she didn’t play those games anymore. Jill asked what Diane would say if Jack asked her to give it another try. Diane said if that happened someday, she’d be a fool to turn Jack down.

At the Abbott house, Kyle received the latest numbers for Marchetti and told Summer they were worse than expected. He was confident they could turn things around if they could get Angelina to replace her COO, who’d been behind a lot of the poor decisions made at the company. Summer revealed that Angelina wanted to retire. She said she trusted Summer not to tarnish the Marchetti brand. Summer intended to make sure the line continued to reflect Angelina’s sensibilities. Kyle suggested Summer run Marchetti, but she said she had no interest in the business side of the company. She wanted to remain creative director. Summer said they needed a leader who had an excellent background in business and could manage a large team. She thought he should do it.

Kyle was startled Summer wanted him to step down as co-CEO. She said that he’d be in charge of Marchetti, and he wouldn’t be co-running it. He said he couldn’t abandon his job. She pointed out that they’d all still be working for the same company. She said they’d be working together again, like they did at JCV, and they were a great team. He agreed that they’d been magical. He was flattered she thought of him for this. He had to think about it and talk with Jack. He loved the idea of working with her though.

When Jack came home, Kyle ran the idea by him. Kyle said it would give him a chance to make his mark solely on his own. He hoped Jack didn’t take it the wrong way. Jack was supportive of this and proud of Kyle, but on a selfish level, he didn’t want to lose his son at Jabot. Summer said that Kyle would just be running a different division under the Jabot umbrella, so Jack wouldn’t be losing him. Kyle hadn’t made up his mind yet. Kyle asked about the launch. Jack said that Chancellor Winters would be a force to be reckoned with. He mentioned he had a pleasant dinner with Diane. Kyle was just glad his parents could spend time with each other without fighting. Summer bet Jack wished he could’ve gone out with her mom instead. Jack said Phyllis was a great dinner companion, but she was out of town. Summer asked what Jack wasn’t telling her. She asked what happened between him and Phyllis and between Phyllis and Diane.

Jack knew Summer meant well, but he told her that if she had questions, she should ask her mother. He went to bed. Summer asked what the heck was going on with their parents. Kyle thought it was pretty obvious something happened between them and it had to do with his mom, but Jack and Phyllis didn’t have to share it with them. Summer knew that, but there was a dark cloud of tension affecting the whole family. He asked her not to blow this out of proportion. She said they couldn’t ignore their mothers’ dangerous histories – they were capable of broken bones, blackmail, burning down pool houses. He liked to think their moms were past that kind of behavior. She said they’d mellowed for now, but she was still worried because anything was possible when Diane and Phyllis got riled up.

Kyle didn’t think there was anything they could do but stay vigilant. He thought they should relax while their moms were in different states. Summer said her mom would be back and she wouldn’t be happy if she found Jack taking Diane to late night dinners. Kyle asked what Summer wanted him to do – discourage his dad from being nice to his mom? She didn’t want him to do that. He knew this wasn’t ideal that their moms hated each other, but they couldn’t control their parents. He suggested they focus on their future right now. They kissed.

At Society, Nikki called Victoria, who didn’t answer. Nikki was upset that Victoria actually left, and on such a bad note. Victor said Adam thought it was a sign of weakness that Victoria so easily succumbed to Ashland again. Nikki thought that they pushed Victoria too much. Victor felt that they did what they thought was best. Nikki said that was the problem – Victoria was an adult. She asked how long they really expected Victoria to let them treat her like a child. Victor felt that Victoria should expect them to treat her like a child forever, because she was their daughter, and she always would be. He disagreed that they’d pushed Victoria into anything. He said that Victoria didn’t want to accept that Ashland was a monster.

Victor said Victoria wouldn’t stay under Ashland’s spell for long. Nikki countered that they thought Victoria would be finished with Ashland after she found out he faked his illness, but that didn’t happen. Nikki was afraid Victoria would never leave Ashland. Victor was sure Ashland would do something monstrous and Victoria would come back. Nikki wasn’t confident. He asked why she didn’t trust in their plan. He said when Victoria realized he appointed Adam CEO, it would light a fire under her, and she’d come back. Nikki had approved of the plan at first, but now she was afraid Victoria would see it as manipulation. Victor still thought it would work. Nikki said Ashland was a big part of Victoria’s heart and that wouldn’t go away overnight, and he would be able to strengthen their bond.

Victor said they had a willful daughter, and they both knew where she got that trait from. It made him afraid Victoria would have to crash and burn before she came to her senses. Nikki asked what if Victoria didn’t crash and burn. Victor was sure Ashland would screw up sooner or later – a leopard didn’t change his spots. Nikki said that Victoria could succeed without Ashland – with her talent and drive she could do anything. Nikki stated that if Ashland screwed up, Victoria could kick him to the curb and still find great success and happiness without Ashland and without the Newman family. Victor took Nikki’s hand and asked if she really thought he’d allow their daughter to slip away. She realized he had another plan – something besides making Adam CEO. He said he was waiting for Ashland and Victoria to make their next move. When that happened, Victor would have more cards to play against Ashland. Cards that would destroy that son of a bitch once and for all. They toasted.

Ashland and Victoria entered a suite in NY. He welcomed her to her new home, for the time being. He’d sold his penthouse, and real estate in Manhattan was a battleground, so they were here temporarily. He was so happy to be in this city with the woman he loved. He saw that she was scared, and he said it was rare to see her like that. Ashland followed Victoria to the balcony. He understood how scary this was for her. He said she took a life-changing step away from her family, whom she’d been close to for her entire life. Victoria said this wasn’t the first time she left her family – she once moved to Italy for a whole year and didn’t speak to any of them. He said this was different because she also walked away from the top job at one of the biggest conglomerates on the planet. He thought it was courageous and it had to be scary. He remembered when he left his family – he’d been desperate to get away from his father, but it wasn’t easy. She went back inside and admitted it was unsettling. He said it would take her time to adjust, but they were going to take this city by storm. He made her smile when he talked about the amazing life they were going to have in NY. He said their home would have bedrooms for the kids, and maybe even Harrison would be able to visit some day. She knew the kids would love Central Park. He said they were going to build an innovative business that would rival Newman Enterprises.

Victoria and Ashland got takeout from his favorite hole in the wall place. It reminded her of their first trip to NY. He didn’t like wasting time, and he knew she didn’t either, so he had some ideas for their new venture. She said she had some strong opinions too. Firstly, she didn’t want the name Newman anywhere near their new company. She wanted to slap down Adam and Newman Media, so she wanted a media division. Ashland said they might be able to poach some of their former colleagues at Newman Locke and that would be an excellent way to stick it to Adam and Victor. She said she wanted to find a way to use her art background and bring fine arts into the digital age. He thought that sounded innovative. She said her father would probably hate that idea, but it was a relief to say she didn’t give a damn what he thought. Ashland loved hearing that. Victoria said she was finally out from under her father’s shadow and she could leave an indelible mark on the world.

Ashland wanted to toast. He said they survived and they were making moves to take the world by storm. He said without her family and his past weighing them down, they were finally free. She laughed with him, but when he was focused on pouring the wine, her smile faded and she just stared at him. He filled their glasses and they clinked cups and smiled.

Adam walked into his new office at Newman Enterprises. The CEO’s office. Sally wasn’t far behind. She wrapped her arms around him and remarked that this was his now. Sally said this was her first tine in the inner sanctum. She thought they’d have to redecorate though, she said, while looking at the portrait of Victoria. She asked if they should have his painting commissioned. He said that wasn’t his style. He’d rather look at a painting of Sally all day. She thought that might confuse visitors. He suggested some modern abstract art. She didn’t care if he hung up Dogs Playing Poker; anything but his gloating sister. He didn’t want the poker picture because that would just remind him of Billy. He enjoyed telling Billy about his promotion and rendering him speechless for once. Sally asked Adam about his first move. He took down Victoria’s portrait, and Sally said well done.

Sally asked Adam how it felt to be back where he belonged. It felt good. He thanked her for coming with him at this late hour. She understood why he wanted to come. She thought he deserved time to soak it all in before he took over the reins tomorrow morning. He loved how well she could read him. He wanted to celebrate, and she’d already planned for that with champagne. He noted that he brought her champagne to celebrate her promotion. She felt you could never have too much of a good thing.

Adam was sitting at his desk, and Sally was sitting on top of it. She thought it was time the christen this office like they christened the Newman Media office. He used the button on the desk to close the door, and they kissed. Later, she was wearing his shirt and sitting on his lap. He toasted to Newman Enterprises. She toasted to them and their new future.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Li Shin finishes a work call about sending out a press release in his room while Gabi wakes up in the bed. Li apologizes for waking her after she worked late. Gabi says it was worth it to finish the releases and asks if that’s what his phone call was about. Li says no and informs her that there is something she should know. Gabi then gets a message on her phone, announcing the death of Abigail DiMera.

Jack visits Gwen in prison and tells her that he has bad news about Abigail. Gwen reveals someone already told her and asks if it’s true that her sister was murdered. Jack responds that he’s sorry as he meant to tell her himself but he guesses the news is getting out. Gwen says she didn’t get all the details and asks if they know who is responsible.

Chad asks Kate how much she told Lucas and if she told him that Abigail knew he was Sami’s kidnapper. Chad screams at Kate to answer him. Kate tells Chad to try to calm down. Chad complains about Kate wanting him to calm down after his wife was stabbed to death in their bedroom. Chad declares that if Kate told Lucas that Abigail knew his secret, he could be the one.

Jennifer sits with Lucas at the Pub and talks about Abigail. Jennifer tearfully asks who would want to hurt her and why. Lucas responds that he just doesn’t know. Jennifer asks what kind of monster would attack Abigail so brutally in her own home. Lucas cries that he’s so sorry as it’s all his fault. Jennifer questions what he means and how it could be his fault. Lucas responds that he should have protected her and kept a closer eye on her while Jennifer was in Boston. Jennifer says he couldn’t possibly have known that some maniac was going to break in to her house. Jennifer tells Lucas not to do this to himself. Lucas cries that he should be comforting her, not the other way around. Jennifer assures that Abigail knew Lucas loved her and that he is not to blame for any of this.

Chad argues that if Lucas thought Abigail was going to expose his secret then he might have wanted to kill her to shut her up, so he would have had motive. Kate claims that she didn’t tell Lucas so he didn’t know that Abigail knew. Kate says even if he did know, he would never ever hurt Abigail. Chad cries asking who would’ve done something so horrible to his wife.

Steve walks outside the Pub, on the phone with Rafe, telling him to let him know if there’s anything he can do to help with the investigation as they need to find whoever did this to Abigail and bring them to justice, whatever it takes. Steve thanks Rafe and hangs up. Jake then approaches and says he didn’t mean to eavesdrop but asks if something happened to Abigail.

Gabi questions if this is some kind of sick joke. Li says he’s afraid not. Gabi argues that they have it wrong and he needs to retract the statement. Li says that EJ gave him the information himself. Gabi insists it must be wrong but Li reveals he checked with the police and confirmed Abigail is dead. Gabi asks if they are sure and says it could be a trick. Li assures it’s not and that he’s sorry to say this but Abigail was murdered, leaving Gabi in shock.

Jake is shocked to learn from Steve that Abigail has been murdered. Steve notes that Chad found her and assumes that someone in his famliy will fill him in on the details but Jake says it’s not likely as Abigail was really the only DiMera he got along with. Jake asks if the police has any leads. Steve says not yet. Steve adds that he needs to get inside because Jennifer is waiting for him. Jake sends his condolences as Steve then enters the Pub.

Kate wishes she could give Chad the answers he needs but she can’t. Kate has no idea why anyone would do this to Abigail, but she knows her heart is broken for him and his children. Chad admits he’s grasping at straws. Chad cries that he’s so sorry as he hugs Kate. Kate is sorry that she can’t be more of a comfort to him. Chad says that no one can be. Kate suggests he get some rest but Chad says he can’t rest as he just sees Abigail laying there covered in blood every time he closes his eyes. Chad remembers the last thing Abigail said to him. Kate asks if she gave him any clue as to what happened. Chad says that she just said they had a knife and he keeps racking his brain, trying to think of who would do this to his wife. Chad declares that the only person he can think of is Gwen, but she’s in prison so she couldn’t have done it.

Jack mentions the police not having any leads. Gwen asks if he came here to ask if she did it. Jack says of course not and questions why she would even think that. Gwen says it just crossed her mind is all because of everything that happened between her and Abigail in the past. Gwen wishes the last time she saw her hadn’t ended the way that it did. Jack asks when the last time she saw her was. Gwen responds that it was yesterday as she came to visit her. Jack asks why. Gwen guesses their last encounter sealed both of their fates forever.

Tripp goes to see Ava and informs her that he’s going to spend the summer with Joey and Stephanie since it will be awhile before he can get back to work while his ankle heals, so he figured he might as well enjoy a change of scenery until then. Ava asks if he’s coming back. Tripp confirms that he at least thinks so. Tripp says he has to clear his head and process everything that’s happened with Allie among other things like almost dying and being possessed by The Devil. Ava understands why he might need to be away. Ava asks what she’s going to do without him as she hugs him.

Jack doesn’t understand how Abigail’s visit sealed their fates. Gwen says she just meant because of how things ended so badly between them and now that she’s gone, she won’t ever have a chance to reconcile with her even if that may never have happened anyway. Jack thinks they would have eventually both gotten past the anger and resentment. Gwen guesses now they will never know.

Gabi tearfully informs Li that she and Abigail used to be best friends. Gabi says even after everything blew up, they had a connection. Li calls it a shame that they had a falling out. Gabi agrees as they spent a lot of time battling each other and tearing each other down. Gabi says every once in awhile they would find some common ground like they did with Gwen. Gabi tells Li about how they teamed up to bring Gwen down and it didn’t go as planned, but it felt nice to be on the same side again. Gabi cries that it was one of the few times where she had to stop Abigail from making things worse since it was usually the other way around. Li comments that it sounds like she was the yin to her yang as they were complete opposites who balanced each other out. Li declares that the shadow cannot exist without the light. Gabi cries that now that light is gone and asks what they are going to do without her as Li hugs her.

Kate knows Chad wants justice for Abigail but says he has to let the police find out who did it and focus on himself and his children now. Chad mentions that he hasn’t told the kids yet and cries that he doesn’t know how he’s going to. Kate encourages that Charlotte and Thomas are strong and asks where they are now. Chad informs her that EJ and Belle took them to Marlena’s last night. Kate says it’s good that they have so many people who love them and will be there for them. Kate asks if there’s anything she can do right now for Chad or the kids. Chad says not at the moment. Kate tells him to let her know. Chad agrees to and thanks her. Kate tells Chad that she loves him. Chad says he loves her too. Kate opens the door to leave right as Jake arrives. Kate tells Jake that it’s not a good time. Jake responds that he heard and that’s why he’s here. Jake tells Chad that he came to offer his condolences. Kate then exits. Chad admits he wasn’t expecting to see Jake here.

Gabi tells Li that she’s done so many awful things to Abigail so she doesn’t have the right to cry over her like this. Li understands that she may have been her enemy, but also her friend. Li doubts Abigail would begrudge her for her tears. Gabi thanks her and feels this is more than he bargained for by hooking up with her. Li assures her that he is all in through the good and the bad. Li calls Gabi the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on as they then kiss.

Jack asks Gwen why Abigail did come to visit her. Gwen explains that she asked her to because she made Jack a gift and wanted Abigail to deliver it to him since Abigail was planning to fly to Boston to surprise Jack for his birthday. Jack admits he didn’t know that and says he can’t ask Jennifer to go through Abigail’s things right now, so he’ll have to look himself for her gift. Gwen tells him not to bother as he won’t find it. Jack asks why not. Gwen thinks back to Abigail smashing her mug, but then claims to Jack that she dropped it and it shattered to pieces. Jack calls that too bad and asks if she couldn’t fix it. Gwen responds that much like her relationship with her sister, it was broken beyond repair.

Jake recalls to Chad how when he first found out he was a DiMera, Abigail had just gotten back from Florida and he fixed her car. Jake talks about how Abigail had a book in the backseat, “Never Let Me Go” by Ishiguro, and asked if he wanted to borrow it. Jake said he wasn’t much of a reader but Abigail insisted and he ended up liking it. Jake states that Abigail barely knew him when she insisted he borrow the book, but he always saw that as her reaching out to him and sharing a part of herself which meant a lot. Jake acknowledges that Abigail made a real effort to welcome him in to this family. Chad guesses he means unlike him. Chad hates that he made assumptions about Jake’s friendship with Abigail and he was an idiot to fall for Gwen’s lies and to betray Abigail in the worst way possible. Chad states that he hurt her badly and thought he had lost her for good, but they worked things out and they were happy. Chad cries that they were planning to have another baby. Jake gets up and comforts Chad as he breaks down crying.

Tripp tells Ava that he should get going since Steve is taking him to a farewell lunch before he goes to the airport. Ava tells them to have a good time. Tripp does feel guilty leaving since the timing isn’t ideal. Ava asks why that is. Tripp guesses she hasn’t heard and informs Ava that Abigail died last night. Ava asks what happened. Tripp reveals that someone broke in to her house and stabbed her then Chad brought her to the hospital but it was too late. Tripp calls it a terrible tragedy as she has two little kids and was such a wonderful person. Tripp says he still can’t believe it. Ava calls it horrible for her family. Ava asks if they have any suspects. Tripp says not yet.

Gwen asks Jack about he and Jennifer having to go view Abigail’s body, feeling that’s cruel to have them do that. Jack explains that nobody made them do it, they wanted to do it. Jack wanted to see Abigail and tell her so many things that he wanted to say before. Jack says it’s nothing compared to what’s happening for Thomas and Charlotte as they are going to grow up without their mother. Jack breaks down crying as Gwen encourages that Abigail knew how much he loved her and how lucky she was to have a father as wonderful and caring as him. Jack thanks her for saying that. Gwen tells Jack that she’s so sorry he’s going through this.

Steve sits with Jennifer and Lucas at the Pub. Steve offers to take Jennifer home which she accepts. Lucas and Jennifer hug and say goodbye. Lucas promises to check on her later. Kate enters the Pub and greets Jennifer, saying she’s so sorry about Abigail as she was a beautiful person and she respected her strength and love of family which she got from her. Jennifer thanks Kate and then exits with Steve. Kate sits with Lucas, who says that he hates to see Jennifer going through all of this. Kate mentions just leaving Chad. Lucas asks how he’s doing. Kate says it was so difficult as Chad is in so much pain. Kate adds that out of grief, Chad accused her of killing Abigail to keep her quiet because she knew about Lucas kidnapping Sami. Lucas calls that ridiculous since she would never hurt Abigail. Kate responds that of course she wouldn’t, but she can’t help thinking, would Lucas?

Jack tells Gwen that he has to get back to Jennifer as she doesn’t know where he is since he didn’t tell her he was coming to see Gwen. Gwen sends her condolences. Jack tells Gwen to take care of herself. Gwen wishes Jack a happy birthday as he then exits.

Jake exits the DiMera Mansion and runs in to Gabi as she is arriving. Gabi questions what Jake is doing there. Jake responds that he came to see Chad. Gabi asks how he is. Jake asks how she thinks as he just lost the love of his life. Gabi remarks that she knows what that’s like but says she’s talking about Stefan of course. Jake remarks that Gabi has bounced back right in to Li Shin’s bed. Jake asks if they are a thing now. Gabi asks why he cares since she hears he and Ava are no longer just roommates. Jake says it looks like they’ve both moved on so they have nothing else to talk about. Jake says he’ll see Gabi at the office and walks off.

Lucas questions Kate thinking he killed Abigail. Kate admits it crossed his mind and reveals it crossed Chad’s mind too. Lucas says she can’t be serious. Kate clarifies that she covered by telling Chad that Lucas didn’t know that Abigail knew his secret, so that he wouldn’t have a motive. Kate adds that they both know that he could, because he was very upset when she told him about Abigail and then he didn’t show up for dinner. Kate then notices Lucas’s bandaged hand and asks what he did. Lucas responds that he doesn’t know. Kate questions what that means. Lucas reveals that after they talked last night, he fell off the wagon and blacked out so he has no memory of what he did last night.

Tripp meets Steve in the town square for his farewell lunch. Tripp asks Steve if he’s sure he shouldn’t stick around given the circumstances of everyone being shocked about Abigail and says he could put off leaving. Steve tells him they will be alright, but he’s sorry he couldn’t give him a better sendoff. Tripp calls this perfect and reminds him of when they first started to get to know each other. Steve toasts to the best son a man could ever ask for and says he’ll miss him. Tripp promises to come back soon.

Jack sits with Jennifer at home and apologizes for not telling her that he was going to see Gwen as he didn’t know how she would take it. Jennifer says it’s fine and she’s glad he did since Gwen is his daughter and Abigail’s sister, so she deserved to hear the news from him. Jack reveals Gwen had already heard by the time he got there. Jennifer asks how she took it. Jack says obviously there was no love lost between her and Abigail, but he could tell that Abigail’s death shook her more than she was letting on.

Ava goes to see Gwen at prison and says she’s glad she caught her as she just heard about Abigail. Gwen questions Ava coming all this way to give her condolences. Ava clarifies that she came to ask Gwen if she did it.

Chad stares at a photo of Abigail as Gabi enters the DiMera Mansion and tells him that she’s so sorry, calling it such a terrible tragedy. Gabi says her heart goes out to him and his children. Chad thanks her. Gabi knows he’s skeptical about her feelings for Abigail. Gabi admits they had a lot of problems but she loved her very much and it’s complicated. Chad says that’s one word for it. Gabi likes to think they had gotten to an okay place over the past year and she hopes Abigail thought so too. Gabi declares that whoever did this made a huge mistake because nobody but her gets to mess with Abigail Deveraux-DiMera, so they are going to find the son of a bitch who did this and make them pay.

Kate questions how Lucas could do something so stupid after working so hard to get sober. Lucas suggests the pressure of keeping his secret finally got to him. Kate questions if he started drinking when she left the Pub. Lucas admits that he stole a bottle from behind the bar, got totally wasted, and woke up with a massive hangover and he has no memory of what he did after leaving the Pub. Kate asks if he even knows what he did. Lucas says he has no idea and just woke up with this cut on his hand which could’ve been from a knife. Kate asks if Lucas thinks he could’ve killed Abigail. Lucas wishes he could say of course not, but tearfully admits he’s not sure.

Young & The Restless Update

Recap written by Christine

Devon and Lily were in the ballroom preparing for their speeches. They were happy about how well the party went and excited for the rest of the night.

Out in the lounge, Jack and Jill talked about Chancellor Winters. She spoke approvingly of the merger and told him to imagine if all business deals were done this way – with respect, equality and admiration. He grinned and said it sounded boring. They reminisced about the way they did business in the old days, knocking their foes down and having fun doing it. Jill said Devon and Lily were much nicer people than she and Jack were. She shifted gears and said she heard Diane rose from the grave. He guessed one of his siblings told Jill. Jill said you couldn’t keep something like that secret – besides, she saw Diane here tonight, and she noticed that Nikki was horrified. Jill didn’t understand why Jack had been so civil with Diane tonight. He said this wasn’t the time or the place. She’d heard the craziness with Diane brought him to the granddaughter he never knew he had. Her heart was with Jack over the loss of his son, but what a gift the granddaughter must be. Jack beamed and said getting to know Allie had been a godsend. Amanda came up to talk to Jack, so Jill drifted off.

Jack congratulated Amanda on tonight. He was sure that it was nice to work with Devon. She said it made the right difference having the right person in your corner. She brought up Phyllis. Amanda wasn’t taking sides, and she hoped Jack was okay, but it sounded like Phyllis made a mistake, and she was very sorry about it. Jack was sorry too.

Abby asked everyone to join her in the ballroom. Imani wished Nate luck, adding that he didn’t need it. As Nikki and Victor exited the lounge, he wondered where Adam was. She was sure he’d be there, since he must be curious about what Victor had to say to him.

Adam fixed his tie, at his office, while Sally was on the phone trying to fix a server issue. He offered to stay and help, but she figured he shouldn’t keep his dad waiting. He didn’t see why it was so important for him to go to this party. Victor’s text had been so vague. He supposed it would be a good idea to find out what Lily and Devon were planning. She kissed him goodbye, and he said he’d be back later with a full report.

Chance called Abby to tell her he was finished with the case. It went really well, and he was going to meet her at the hotel for the rest of the party. After the call ended, Abby spotted Diane and yelled at her for crashing the event. Jack overheard. Diane asked if Phyllis hired Abby as a personal bouncer. Abby said she was running a party that Diane wasn’t welcome at. Diane said she wasn’t here for the party, but she’d be staying in town for a while, so Abby had better get used to it. Diane said that dealing with hateful people like Abby made her stronger. “We’ll see,” Abby said. She walked off. Jack approached and told Diane things wouldn’t get easier any time soon. She said she could take it because she only cared about Kyle. Diane asked if Jack thought Kyle would eventually turn his back on her the way she did to him. She worried that the haters were going to get to Kyle. Jack didn’t want to discuss this now. He said he was missing the presentation. She apologized. He told her he’d meet her for dinner later tonight.

Chance was startled to see Diane leaving the hotel as he entered. He asked Abby about it. Abby didn’t know why Diane came, but she was gone now. Abby didn’t want to jinx it, but this could be the first event at The Grand Phoenix where nothing went wrong. He said it was because Abby was running things.

In her speech, Lily promised that tonight was the beginning of exciting things to come that would change the business landscape forever. Lily said tonight was a personal dream because she was getting to carry on the legacies of Katherine and her father, Neil. She acknowledged the owner and former CEO of Chancellor, Jill Abbott. Everyone clapped. Lily said Jill was an amazing businesswoman who understood her vision and got behind it. Lily introduced her fellow CEO, and brother, Devon. She felt lucky and grateful to have a brother who was such a creative executive and one of the sharpest business minds she knew. She introduced their COOs, Billy and Nate. She said this merger was more than a business venture – it was a family. They were a team and they were united in their vision.

Devon gave his speech. He thanked Lily for convincing him to do this merger. He said she realized immediately what he now saw – that this company was going to achieve great things. He likened this event to the christening of a ship – the team knew where they were going, but they weren’t ready to hand over the map just yet. Nate looked disappointed. The reporters asked for some specifics, but Devon would only give vague assurances that they had exciting things in store. A reporter asked Devon why he dropped his name and his mother’s from the company. Devon said that they were rebranding LP as Hamilton Streaming, so the name wasn’t dropped.

Devon handed the floor to Nate. Imani was in the crowd watching expectantly. She smiled in approval when Nate said he was going to go off script and answer the reporter’s questions about some of their future plans. Nate revealed that Chancellor Winters would be launching fifty new podcasts, each one with a unique take on a specific topic. Lily, Devon and Billy all looked tense as Nate did his own thing.

After the event, Nikki and Victor told Lily and Devon that they were impressive tonight. Nikki recalled that, awhile ago, Lily had asked her for insight on how Katherine would handle things in Lily’s shoes. Nikki thought that Lily really embraced the way Katherine lived her life with this merger – blazing a bold new trail. Devon appreciated the sentiments, especially because Newman Enterprises would be one of their biggest competitors.

Abby was glad the party went well. Chance was sorry – his mind was still on the arrest. Abby asked him to tell her about it. He said it went down in classic style – blood was pumping and danger was in the air. She didn’t like the sound of danger, but he said it was all fine. He wished he could tell Rey about it. He felt like he was getting his groove back. He felt like he was meant to do this, tonight, and he hadn’t felt like that in a long time. She asked again about the danger in the air. He reiterated that there was nothing to worry about.

Nate was surrounded by a gaggle of reporters hoping for more details, but he said he wasn’t going to spill everything tonight. Imani was with her date, Giancarlo, but she was looking at Nate. Nate cut things short and approached Devon. Nate defended his speech. He went with his gut, and he thought it paid off. People were more curious before the speech, and now they were even more interested after getting a taste of what was to come. He apologized for going off script, but he was convinced it was the right move. Nate said he’d only shared a quarter of what he’d wanted to say. Lily and Billy came up. Lily hated to admit it, but she thought Nate was right. She and Billy had heard from some other people who reacted positively to Nate’s decision to share some specifics. Billy said that executive, Gwen, that Devon and Nate met with a few days ago, was now 100% on board.

Lily, Billy and Nate seemed pleased, but Devon was more subdued. Everyone toasted to Nate, with Devon grudgingly stating that he guessed it all worked out for the best, this time. Imani found Nate alone later, and told him he did the right thing taking her advice. He admitted he was nervous, which he always was when giving speeches. She said that it didn’t show. She thought he was being too humble, and she didn’t understand it because she thought he was an engaging speaker who made a few women swoon with his speech. Amanda came up and saw Nate and Imani.

Adam showed up at the hotel and met with Nikki and Victor. Victor hoped Adam put out whatever fire at Newman Media that kept him from coming earlier. Adam said that Sally was finishing up the last of it. He stated that she’d really stepped up. Victor said that tomorrow, he’d make an announcement that Adam was the new CEO of Newman Enterprises. Adam beamed. He said he was a little caught off guard, but he had a lot of ideas. He looked forward to being co-CEO with Nikki. Nikki said she and Victoria were a team, and she couldn’t imagine having the same working relationship with Adam, so she’d be stepping back to her COO position. Adam accepted that. Victor said it was a good thing, because this way the CEO title would be entirely Adam’s. Adam smiled and said he appreciated the vote of confidence.

Adam asked if this meant Sally would be running Newman Media, and Victor said yes. Nikki and Victor left. Billy walked up to Adam and said he was surprised to see him there. Adam noted that he’d been invited. Billy said he and Lily thought it fair to invite Adam, since he invited them to Newman Media’s launch. Adam thought the launch parties had a similar vibe – same venue and a lot of the same people. Billy said that they were going to skip the ice bucket shenanigans. Billy bragged about Chancellor Winters posing a challenge for Newman Media. Adam said that Newman Media would no longer be a stifled division under Victoria’s thumb – it would have the power of Newman Enterprises behind it. He said that tomorrow, he’d become CEO of Newman Enterprises. Adam said while Chancellor Winters would be busy selling off divisions, he might be buying them to become bigger, better and stronger.

Imani introduced herself to Jill and sang Nate’s praises. Jill said she knew Nate – he operated on her grandson years ago. Imani said Nat excelled at everything he tried. Amanda strolled over with Chance. She said she needed to borrow her sister, but she brought Jill company. Amanda and Imani left. Jill asked Chance if Nate lived with Elena. Chance said yes. “Elena better watch out for that one,” Jill said of Imani.

Imani wanted to know why Amanda stopped her from networking with Jill. Amanda said that she noticed Giancarlo was alone. Amanda also felt that Nate didn’t need Imani praising him to Jill. She suspected that if Imani had known Nate would be here alone, she would’ve turned Giancarlo down. Amanda ordered Imani to keep her distance from Nate for the rest of the night. Imani loved Amanda, but she was tired of the orders. She told Amanda to back off.

Imani apologized to Giancarlo for not spending a lot of time with him tonight. She said she’d tried to work the room a bit. He understood, since this was a business function. She said she saw him networking too, but she thought he spent a fair bit of time with Claire from accounting for her liking. He asekd if she was jealous, and she said she didn’t get jealous. He inited her to get a nightcap, but she said she was tired, so she was going to bed. He asked if she’d be thinking of him. “If you’re lucky,” she said. He smiled and left.

When Nate got home, Elena was sleeping on the couch. She woke up and asked about the party. He said it surpassed his wildest expectations. He said he went a little rogue with his speech, and it paid off, and even Lily had to admit he was right. Elena asked how Devon was. Nate thought his couin seemed good with things. Nate felt like he was in the exact right place at the exact right time. Things would’ve been perfect if Elena had been there.

Devon and Amanda went home. He was happy about their evening, except he thought Nate was potentially proving to be a handful. Amanda was sure that this was just Nate finding his footing in the business world. Devon hoped that was all it was. Amanda told him to stop looking for trouble. She was sure everything would be fine. She told him the night wasn’t over yet, and they kissed.

Lily and Billy were still at the hotel. He told her to hell with Adam, and the company he snagged by default. She said she hadn’t given Adam a second thought. He thought she did good tonight. He was going to show her how he felt about an hour from now. She said she couldn’t have done this without him. He told her that this success was all hers. They hugged, and he looked troubled.

At Society, Diane fixed her hair when she saw Jack heading inside. Jack assured Diane that Kyle indicated that he was warming to her and wanted her in his life. Diane wept tears of joy. She said that made dealing with the rest of the town more manageable. She suggested that eventually, Jack would find a way to tolerate her too. He told her again that he was staying neutral, but he said if this was a facade, she’d regret it. She wasn’t sure what to do to get him to believe her. She was exhausted trying to hold her head up high while the townspeople were lobbing grenades at her. He didn’t feel sorry for her. She wasn’t asking for pity. She said she’d get through this, especially after he confirmed that there was still hope. Diane was sorry because it seemed that her presence in this town caused Phyllis to leave at a time when she and Jack were getting closer. Jack refused to discuss Phyllis with Diane.

Diane told Jack that tonight wasn’t so bad – a meal and a non-combative conversation. He thought her definition of non-combative might be skewed. She laughed. Diane was annoyed when she saw Nikki and Victor walk in. Nikki was also dismayed. Diane and Jack were done, so they left. Nikki didn’t understand why Jack was spending time with Diane or why people like Diane and Ashland were so easily forgiven.

Sally was delighted when Adam returned with champagne. She thought he stole it from the party for her. He said he bought it for a special occasion and he wanted something better than the cheap stuff Devon and Lily sprung for. He told her she was looking at the CEO of Newman Enterprises, and he was looking at the beautiful CEO of Newman Media. She was thrilled. He said this didn’t go exactly as expected, but they pulled it off. She suggested they commemorate this moment, and they shared a kiss.

Steve and Kayla tell Jack and Jennifer how sorry they are and that they are here if they need anything. Kayla asks if they want to go to her office. Steve offers to get them tea or food. Jennifer responds that she would like to see her daughter. Kayla takes Jennifer’s hand and brings her and Jack to go see Abigail.

Chad cries until the doorbell rings. His vision of Abigail disappears so he yells for her to come back. Chad then goes to answer the door to see Rafe. Rafe hates to bother him at a time like this and says he’s so sorry for his loss. Chad doesn’t want his sympathy, he wants Rafe to tell him who did this to his wife.

Leo reveals to Gwen that Abigail was murdered as someone stabbed her to death in her bedroom. Gwen asks if it was Leo.

Chad asks Rafe who did this to his wife. Rafe says they will find out and talks about the team being here all night gathering evidence, so everything is at the lab now being tested. Chad asks if they found the murder weapon. Rafe says not yet. Chad asks if there are any suspects. Rafe assures they have every available officer out there looking, chasing leads, and searching but they don’t have anyone in custody yet. Chad asks what Rafe is doing here then. Rafe responds that he wanted to see the crime scene and ask some questions himself. Chad tells him to ask then. Rafe wants Chad to go with him to the bedroom. Rafe tells Chad to take his time and they will do it whenever he’s ready. Chad asks if going up there is going to help catch the person who did this and send them straight to Hell. Rafe says yes, so Chad decides he’s ready and heads upstairs. Chad approaches the bedroom and has flashbacks of being with Abigail the last time. Rafe removes the caution tape and tells Chad to take his time as they head inside. Chad steps in and recalls finding Abigail’s bloody body on the bed.

Kayla brings Jack and Jennifer in to see Abigail’s body. Jennifer screams no and breaks down crying when Kayla uncovers Abigail. Jennifer asks for a moment alone with her. Kayla tells her to take all the time they need as she exits.

Leo questions why Gwen would think he killed Abigail. Gwen points out that Leo was in her house last night. Leo argues that she sent him there. Gwen feels he was obviously lying in wait. Leo insists he was working out a plan for revenge which did not include him going all Norman Bates. Gwen responds that if anyone understands, it’s her. Gwen understands the rage he felt when entering Abigail’s bedroom and got the revenge he so wanted. Leo flashes back to being in the DiMera Wine Cellar and putting a knife from his breakfast in to his bag.

Rafe tells Chad that they took the bedding for analysis. Rafe asks about a box in the room. Chad says there is some of Abigail’s jewelry and some cash in it. Rafe notes that it looks like the lock has been tampered with and asks if it’s always been that way. Chad says no. Chad then opens the box and finds it is now completely empty. Rafe asks for a list of everything that was in it. Chad says he’ll send some photos that were taken for insurance purposes. Chad asks if Rafe thinks this was a robbery gone wrong. Rafe says it’s hard to say as some of the pricey items were still there like Abigail’s laptop, so maybe someone just wanted to make it look like a robbery. Chad comments that there was so much blood. Rafe wonders if it wasn’t all Abigail’s or if some of it belonged to someone else. Rafe says they both know Abigail was a fighter, so whoever did this probably has wounds of their own…

Lucas goes to the Brady Pub with his hand wrapped. Lucas asks Roman if Kate is there. Roman says no as she went to go see Chad. Lucas says good because that means he has a little time before Kate kills him for standing her up last night. Roman realizes that Lucas hasn’t heard and tells him to have a seat. Lucas hopes it has nothing to do with The Devil and one of his kids. Roman responds that it’s not easy to say, so he’s just going to say it. Roman informs Lucas that Abigail was murdered last night.

Jennifer cries that Abigail looks so peaceful, like she’s sleeping. Jennifer talks about Abigail overcoming every challenge in life and how she always reminded her of her mother Laura. Jennifer says nothing will ever make her as proud as she is to be Abigail’s mother. Jennifer looks up and prays for Laura to take care of Abigail now. Jennifer cries that she doesn’t know what she’s going to do without her. Jack hugs Jennifer as she breaks down crying.

Leo tells Gwen that it’s a really nice story but he did not kill Abigail DiMera. Gwen apologizes and says she had to ask since he was at her house last night. Gwen asks if Leo saw anything and if he was in Abigail’s bedroom at all. Leo flashes back to hiding in the bathroom but tells Gwen that he wasn’t. Leo then tells Gwen that he has his own question. Leo points out that Gwen called him all hot and bothered about Abigail breaking her mug. Leo said that Gwen was so mad that she told him to find the nearest sharp object and use it to stab Abigail through the heart. Gwen thought he had a question. Leo then asks if Gwen followed through with her instruction by herself. Leo asks if Gwen killed Abigail.

Chad asks Rafe if he thinks it was a robbery. Rafe repeats that it’s possible but assures they will find them and follow every lead. Rafe declares they will not stop until they get justice for Abigail. Rafe tells Chad to call him if he needs anything as he then exits the room. Chad sits down on the floor.

Gwen asks Leo how she could possibly have killed Abigail when she’s locked up in prison 24 hours a day. Gwen flashes back to sneaking back in to the visiting room and the guard asking where she had been after missing bed check. Gwen claims the place is surrounded. Leo says he knows, but of all the ways Abigail could’ve died, it happened exactly the way Gwen wanted it to and she sure wanted it to happen. Gwen admits she had motive but not the means or opportunity, so she calls it not possible.

Chad gets up and shuts Abigail’s empty jewelry box. Chad then imagines Abigail appearing again in the room and wanting to make a baby. Chad cries that they can’t, even though he wants that so much, because she goes. Chad cries for Abigail to tell him what to do. Chad asks how to tell their children that they are never going to see their mother again.

Jennifer tells Jack to go to Abigail. Jack doesn’t want to say goodbye. Jennifer encourages him to just say whatever is in his heart. Jack then sits at Abigail’s side and cries that he’s sorry for so many things. Jack apologizes for never being the father she deserved, for being selfish, and for always falling short. Jack declares that he will regret taking her for granted and assuming they had all the time in the world. Jack says he was starting to get the hang of being a good dad and they were getting closer. Jack talks about Abigail making him proud, inspiring him, teaching him, and giving him hope. Jack says Abigail was his light that kept him going and helped him find his way. Jack states that now that’s been taken away and he doesn’t know if he will ever find his way out of this darkness. Jennifer hugs Jack.

Chad cries that maybe he could just hold Abigail one last time but then his vision of her disappears and he breaks down crying, then gets up and leaves the room.

Leo points out to Gwen that it’s not like people haven’t busted out of prison. Gwen argues that was people with cash, connections, or the last name DiMera, none of which she has. Leo supposes that’s true. Leo says if she didn’t do it and he didn’t do it, it would appear somebody else did their dirty work for them.

Lucas breaks down crying after Roman tells him about Abigail. Roman says he’s so sorry as he knows how much Lucas loved his niece. Lucas cries that she was an angel and what happened to her is unimaginable. Lucas says it takes him back to losing Will and no parent should ever have to feel that pain. Roman asks if there’s anything he needs or anything he can get him. Roman then notices Lucas’s hand and asks what he did there. Lucas calls it nothing to worry about and complains of a headache, so he asks for an aspirin which Roman then goes to get. Lucas then thinks back to Kate telling him that Chad told Abigail about Lucas kidnapping Sami. Lucas then looks over at the alcohol behind the bar and worries, wondering what he did.

Kate goes to the DiMera Mansion and tells Chad that she’s so sorry. Kate tries to hug him but Chad steps back and questions if she is sorry. Kate says of course she is sorry and heartbroken, questioning where this is coming from. Kate asks what she did wrong. Chad tells her to tell him. Kate says she’s lost. Chad reminds Kate of their conversation yesterday where he gave her the enormous courtesy of telling her that he told Abigail the truth about Lucas and she completely lost it. Kate says she was shocked and surprised. Chad shouts that Kate lost it and ripped in to him about not keeping his mouth shut. Kate argues that she was concerned about her son. Chad screams that Kate was scared out of her mind that Abigail was going to share what she knew, even after he told her she had nothing to worry about and that Abigail wouldn’t tell anyone, Kate said that wasn’t good enough. Chad yells that Kate needed assurances that Abigail wouldn’t tell anyone that Lucas kidnapped Sami. Chad then mocks the idea of keeping his voice down and screams that no one is here. Chad shouts that EJ is at Marlena’s with the kids, Tony and Anna are gone, Harold is off, and his wife is dead. Chad asks if that’s good enough for Kate’s assurance. Kate cries questioning that Chad thinks she killed Abigail to keep her quiet. Chad then asks Kate if she did.

Leo tells Gwen that he’s sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Gwen doesn’t seem so broken up about it. Gwen says she does feel bad for Jack, but Leo must be ecstatic about the unexpected assist. Leo clarifies that he wanted revenge against Abigail badly but he thinks what happened to her is horrible and makes him sick. Gwen calls that revisionist since he was just joking about wanting to slit Abigail’s throat. Leo insists that he was joking and then says he has to go. Gwen thanks him for filling her in. Leo says he’s sorry for her loss and then exits the prison.

Kayla brings Jennifer to the Brady Pub. Roman hugs Jennifer and says he’s so sorry. Jennifer then hugs Lucas, crying that she’s so glad to see him.

Kate can’t imagine the pain Chad is going through but says she knows that he can’t think she was involved in Abigail’s death. Chad responds that he doesn’t think she planned it. Kate asks what that means. Chad thinks after their talk, Kate couldn’t shake her worry about Lucas so she came over to talk with Abigail about keeping quiet and then Abigail got offended so maybe things got out of hand. Kate understands but says no matter the worry, she would never. Chad questions if she wouldn’t go to extremes to protect her kids. Kate knows he’s upset, exhausted, and not thinking straight. Kate tells Chad that she would never kill Abigail to keep her quiet and neither would Lucas. Chad questions why she would mention Lucas. Kate says that’s what this whole conversation is about because Chad told Abigail that Lucas kidnapped Sami. Chad points out that Lucas didn’t know that and then asks if he did.

Kayla exits the Pub and runs in to Steve. Kayla tells Steve that she has to get back to the hospital but Jennifer is inside with Lucas. Kayla asks where Jack is. Steve tells her that he had something to take care of. Kayla questions what but Steve says that Jack didn’t say..

Gwen sits in the prison visiting room, thinking back to Abigail breaking her mug and shouting that she would make her pay. Jack then arrives.

Leo sneaks outside where he retrieves his bag from the bushes. Leo opens it up, revealing the cash and jewelry stolen from Abigail’s box. Leo remarks that he would’ve preferred an Alemanian Emerald, but these will do just fine.

Recap written by Christine

It was the day of the Chancellor Winters launch party. Lily toasted to her team, adding that they were all family now. Lily, Devon, Nate, Imani and Amanda were there. Abby walked up. She was planning the event. Nate said Elena got called into the hospital. Imani said she would’ve refused to miss an event this important, and Nate and Amanda told her that it didn’t work that way when you were a doctor. Abby promised them a great night. Billy arrived with Jill on his arm. She hugged Devon. Jill thought the merger was a bold and savvy business move, and it meant so much more because it was family. She marveled about Neil’s children coming together like this. She was so proud of all of them, and she couldn’t wait to see what the future held for Chancellor Winters. Lily said today was the culmination of something special that started when Devon created a business with their dad, when Jill entrusted her and Billy with Chancellor, and when Nate joined them. She was glad he had Elena’s support. She added that Imani and Amanda found each other as sisters and joined the team. Lily knew their mutual love and support would take them to new heights. She said they were part of each other’s history and intrinsic to each other’s futures. She hoped they’d handle business in a way that made their parents and children proud. Everyone toasted.

Chance kissed Abby when he arrived. Since the party was going smoothly, she figured they could have that date night he owed her starting right now.

Nate was nearby when Imani’s date, Giancarlo arrived. Giancarlo admitted he wasn’t sure Imani would agree to join him tonight. She told him he had to be fearless, but as she talked to him, she was keeping an eye on Nate.

Jack chatted with Lily and Billy. Lily remarked at how far she’d come. Devon came and pulled Lily aside to deal with a work issue. Billy was happy Jack came. He raised an eyebrow when he learned that Jack found out about Phyllis’s vacation through Summer instead of through Phyllis. Jack brushed it off, saying he and Phyllis were both adults who didn’t need to get lost in the minutiae of each other’s lives. Billy thought it would be nice for Jack and Phyllis to get lost in the minutiae of each other’s lives. Jack scoffed about getting relationship advice from Billy. Jack changed the subject and asked how Billy and Victoria were dealing with Locke’s decision to stay in town. Billy said he always wanted Victoria to break free from the family, and now she was doing it and going back to Locke. Jack was shocked.

Victor and Nikki arrived, and she quietly reminded him that they were just here to celebrate Chancellor Winters. He promised to be the perfect guest. However, he did need to get a hold of Adam before the evening was out, since he was about to become the CEO of Newman Enterprises. At that point, Lily, Devon and Jill walked up. Victor said Devon and Lily were close to his heart. He’d been thinking a lot about their dad. Victor was proud of Lily and Devon, and he was sure Neil and Katherine were looking down on them. He was sure they’d do well. He told them that their bond was more important than any failures or successes.

While Devon and Lily gave an interview, Jill was across the room with Chance and Abby. Jill tried to get Chance to join the family business. Chance was happy with his job, but he said Dominic might want to join when he was old enough. Chance added that Dom was a Newman and Abbott too, so he’d have options Jill wanted to spend time with Dom. Jill commented approvingly about how lovey-dovey Abby and Chance were. She thought her grandson was glowing. Chance gave credit to Abby. He got a call about a break in one of Rey’s cases, and both ladies were in support of him going to handle it. He promised to try and come back before the party was over. Jill saw an old business rival and went over to say hello.

Jack joined Abby and asked about Chance leaving. Abby said he was taking on an extra work load because he was finishing Rey’s cases. Abby said she was taking over for Phyllis tonight. Abby was surprised that Phyllis asked her to do anything for the hotel. Jack said it wasn’t like Phyllis to leave Devon and Lily in the lurch. Abby said they were in good hands with her, and she had a vested interest in upstaging Phyllis and making sure Lily and Devon had the best night ever. Abby said Phyllis, her team and the team at Chancellor Winters did a great job setting up the party, and it was practically running itself. Jack flashed back to his recent blow up with Phyllis, when he told her they were through because she’d fallen back into her old pattern.

Devon overheard Nate giving an interview. The reporter asked Nate why he pivoted into business from medicine. Without going into detail, Nate said he had an accident that ended his surgical career. Devon flashed back to punching Nate, which lead to the cut on his hand, preventing him from doing surgery anymore. Nate told the reporter that the accident changed everything. The reporter asked if he had regrets. He was nothing but grateful for the opportunity his cousins gave him. He said he was working with family, where everyone’s opinion was equal.

Amanda approached Imani and Giancarlo and commented that they looked like they were having a good time. Imani said they weren’t having too good of a time, as she knew how the company frowned on excitement. Amanda assured Giancarlo that Imani was kidding. Amanda told Giancarlo how happy she was that he was here, and then she exchanged a look with her sister.

Adam sent Victor a text saying that something came up, but he’d come soon. Jack walked over and complimented Nikki’s look. Victor told Jack to stop flirting with his wife. Jack said that they knew the giants whose shoulders this new company was built on – Katherine and Neil. Jack was surprised Victor and Nikki were here and not dealing with personal matters. Jack said Billy told him Victoria left town with Ashland. Jack wanted Ashland to leave, but not like this. Victor hoped and prayed Victoria soon realized she made an epic mistake. Victor also hoped Jack and Kyle didn’t entertain the thought of keeping Diane around. Jack said he had nothing to do with it, but Kyle decided he wanted his mother to stay around a little longer. Nikki groaned that offering Diane a second chance was like giving a cobra a second chance to strike. Jack said Diane was Kyle’s mother. Nikki was sure that Diane wouldn’t be able to keep up the innocent facade for long and then look out. At that moment, Diane came in, and Nikki went over and told her to leave, because this was a private event. Diane sipped champagne and claimed she had no idea, but Nikki was sure that Diane had seen the signs outside about the launch party. Jack came over and said he’d deal with this, and Nikki reluctantly left.

Diane thanked Jack for the rescue, but he said he did it for Lily and Devon. Diane said she thought she could use the spa tonight since Phyllis was out of town. Jack noted that there was a spa at the Athletic Club. Diane liked the masseuse at The Grand Phoenix. A skeptical Jack commented that Diane was dressed awfully nicely for a spa visit. She said she was going to dinner afterward, and she invited him along so they could talk about Kyle, but he declined. Billy came up. Diane said she accidentally crashed, so he didn’t have to threaten to kick her out. That wasn’t what he was going to say.

Abby told Lily that she wished Chance wasn’t called away on a case. Lily asked if Abby wished Chance joined the family business instead of being a cop. Abby supported Chance’s job. She thought he was born for the role.

Billy thought Diane deserved a second chance, so he wished he could ask her to stay. Diane understood that he couldn’t, because her presence could cause drama. Nikki came barreling back over to tell Diane to get out. She threatened to call security. Jill watched it all unfold from a distance. Billy told Nikki that wasn’t necessary. Diane headed to the spa. Nikki said that she felt bad for Kyle, but one way or another, Diane had to go. Jack went to talk to Jill. Billy told Nikki that that could’ve went worse. She broached the subject of Victoria leaving with Ashland. She wanted him to convince Victoria to stay. He said he tried. Lily came up and excused herself and Billy.

Diane ran into Victor on the way to the spa. He told her she was making a fool of herself, and he asked if she thought people forgot what she’d done. She said that she didn’t forget what had been done to her either, but forgiveness didn’t require forgetting, only compassion. She left. Victor couldn’t believe he used to be married to Diane. Victor flashed back to a confrontation they had years ago. She’d come to express her condolences over something. She said she wasn’t a bad person, and she didn’t believe in holding grudges. He said she was the last person he expected or wanted to see. However, he’d agreed that holding grudges wasn’t healthy.

Devon gave Nate a pep talk before his speech. After they parted ways, Abby commented on Nate going from doctor to COO. She said she thought being a doctor was his calling, like Chance was called to law enforcement. He said it used to be when he was a surgeon, but when he lost that, everything changed. He said he was nervous about his speech. She delivered a pep talk too. He appreciated it. He said that if Elena were here, he would’ve gone to her for one. He wanted some advice from her, as someone who used to work at Newman. He said the current plan was to make a speech that was light on the details. He thought they should go into specifics though. Abby thought that he should ask Devon and Lily. Nate said that Devon was stuck on the idea of doing a broad overview. Abby understood how Nate felt, but she thought he should follow Devon’s lead. She said Devon had been doing this for a long time, and he knew what worked.

Lily had taken Billy off to a secluded corner for a kiss. She said making time for him was important business. He was proud of her. She said it was a group effort, but he told her this was her vision, and she made it happen. He was one hundred percent convinced there was nothing she couldn’t accomplish. Devon cleared his throat. He’d found Lily to tell her that the publicist wanted to go over the speeches. Lily asked Billy if he wanted to say a few words. He said she was the one from Chancellor that people wanted to hear from.

Billy ran into Giancarlo and complimented him on what he’d been doing with the marketing department. Giancarlo said Billy’s podcast division had been kicking butt, and the numbers for the Grinning Soul were especially good. Billy pretended he didn’t know who the host of that podcast was.

Imani saw Nate frowning and said that could only mean he needed more Imani. He asked what the deal was with her and her date. She said she hadn’t decided if Giancarlo was worthy of her yet. Imani had been thinking about her talk with Nate earlier, when he said he thought they were missing out on an opportunity if they didn’t share specific plans in their speech. She thought that he should go with his gut. He pointed out that Lily and Devon disagreed. She said tonight was never supposed to be a big tease. She thought this was their only shot to dazzle the crowd. He decided she was right.

Chance was with another cop at Crimson Lights. They were waiting on a search warrant. The other cop said it was a damned shame Rosales wasn’t here. He thought Rey would be proud of Chance. Chance said he asked the captain to put the cop on this case, because Rey and Chance trusted this guy. They got the warrant and headed out.

Johnny then says that Susan is better than a Ouija board, so he asks Susan to tell him if Chanel is going to end up with him or Allie.

Chanel jokes with Allie about saying how she made it without her. Allie is glad to hear she missed her. Chanel apologizes for sending mixed signals while Allie apologizes for reading too much in to what she said. They agree that this is awkward. Allie says they found out they still work well together so maybe they’ll find out they are still friends. Chanel hopes she didn’t come off obnoxious by choosing herself. Allie understands that she needs to decide if she wants to be with her or Johnny. Allie brings up Johnny dropping in during their evening rush. Chanel admits she saw him but didn’t get a chance to say hi. Allie says Johnny was checking in on them and obviously looking for her. Allie is surprised Johnny left without trying to say hi. Chanel thinks he understands that she needs time and space to figure out what she wants. Chanel points out that Allie was just ready to marry Tripp, so she might need the same thing.

Tripp lays in his hospital bed and tells Steve and Kayla that he hopes they aren’t upset about him moving out. Steve understands that he’s single again so he doesn’t want to stay with his dad and stepmom. Tripp clarifies that it’s not that and says they’ve been amazing in letting him stay with them all this time. Kayla and Steve assure that they love having him. Tripp then announces that he is leaving Salem.

Chad remains on the phone with 911 and cries that he’s applying pressure but nothing’s working. Chad tells them to hurry up and hangs up. Chad urges Abigail to stay with him and open her eyes. Chad needs her to tell him what happened. Abigail tells Chad to take care of the kids. EJ and Belle kiss in the hallway until hearing Chad scream for help. Chad yells to them that he doesn’t know what happened but thinks someone stabbed her and they might still be in the house. Chad orders them to find his kids so EJ and Belle rush back out of the room. Chad promises Abigali that the kids are going to be fine and continues pleading with her to stay with him.

Johnny asks Susan if Chanel ends up with Allie or him. Marlena doesn’t think it’s fair to put Susan on the spot. Susan says she’ll need something personal and uses her cupcake. Susan then screams so Johnny asks what she sees.

Allie tells Chanel that she and Tripp were over a long time ago. Chanel points out that he did almost die for her. Allie says she’ll always be grateful for that but that’s all and Tripp knows that. Allie declares that now she knows exactly who she wants to be with. Allie asks Chanel about her mom. Chanel says she’s trying to be brave but she knows she is terrified of going to prison for life. Allie is sorry she’s going through that and asks how Chanel is doing. Chanel says it’s been really quiet without Paulina at home and empty, until tonight.

Steve questions Tripp leaving Salem. Tripp clarifies that it’s not forever but it will be a couple months until he’s ready to get back to work. Steve suggests they take a little road trip together. Kayla asks where Tripp plans on going. Tripp reveals that he talked to Stephanie and Joey last night about maybe spending some time with them in Seattle this summer. Kayla calls that a great idea as she knows they would love to see him and spend time with him. Steve says it’s a good idea but it caught him by surprise. Tripp credits his near death experience for making him realize that family is what really matters so he wants to get to know Stephanie and Joey as his sister and brother. Tripp adds that he’s been thinking about going out there for awhile and laying in the hospital bed made him realize you never know how much time you have, so you have to do the things that really matter before it’s too late…

Chad encourages Abigail to save her energy and promises the ambulance is coming. EJ returns and announces they found the kids and Belle is taking them to Marlena’s while there is no sign of an intruder. The ambulance arrives so EJ rushes to go meet them. Abigail cries to Chad that she’s so cold. Chad urges her to open her eyes and pleads for her not to die on him.

Steve tells Tripp that they understand why he’s leaving but they’re really going to miss him. Tripp assures that he will be back. Kayla hopes so and says there will be a place for him with them and at the hospital, so he can come back any time he wants. Tripp thanks them for being amazing. Kayla calls him the best intern and an asset to the hospital. Tripp says Kayla made his life easier. Kayla hugs him and wishes him luck. Kayla then gets paged to the ER that a stabbing victim is coming in, so she exits the room. Steve hopes whoever it is, is okay.

Chad and EJ talk at the hospital. Chad worries that they never got Abigail’s pulse back in the ambulance. EJ encourages him as Kayla comes out from the elevator and sees blood on Chad, so she asks if he’s alright or hurt. Chad explains that it’s not his but Abigail’s and asks Kayla to please help her.

Steve asks Tripp if he’s sure he wants to do this. Tripp thinks that Steve thinks he’s running away. Steve denies that and thinks he needs to regroup which Tripp confirms is what he’s doing. Steve asks if he’s told Ava about this. Tripp says no as he wanted to tell Steve and Kayla first. Tripp jokes that he’ll tell his mom with the car running and his suitcase packed. Steve wishes him luck with that and then asks what about Allie. Tripp says that’s a good question.

Allie invites Chanel to go bowling if she wants to get out for a night. Chanel says they can do goofy golf or something. Allie suggests they and Johnny can go axe throwing which Chanel says is more like it. They talk about their desserts from the bakery and they end up both reaching for the same box, causing their hands to touch. They get interrupted by Allie getting a call from Tripp, who asks if she’s busy right now. Allie says that she and Chanel were just finishing up work for the day. Tripp says there’s something he wanted to talk to them both about so he asks them to come to the hospital now.

Johnny asks Susan what she sees. Susan says she doesn’t just see Allie, but declares she needs to call EJ. There’s a knock at the door and Marlena answers to see Belle. Susan worries that this is bad. Belle comes in as Marlena asks what’s going on. Belle informs her that Thomas and Charlotte are in the car with the nanny. Marlena asks what has happened. Belle reveals that someone broke in to the mansion and it’s Abigail.

Chad complains that nobody will tell him what’s going on and he wants to go find out how Abigail is doing. EJ stops him and reminds him that they need to work. Chad insists and then Kayla comes out and announces she’s sorry and they did everything they could, but they have lost Abigail. Chad refuses to believe it. EJ says he’s so sorry. Chad argues that they’re wrong and that he’ll get Dr. Rolf to fix it. Kayla encourages Chad that he did everything right and the staff did CPR for over an hour but Abigail lost too much blood. Kayla declares that Dr. Rolf cannot help her. Chad cries that he can’t give up on her and repeats that it can’t be as EJ hugs him.

Allie and Chanel go to Tripp’s hospital room. Chanel comments on him looking better. Tripp announces he’s actually getting discharged tomorrow. Steve decides to go get some coffee and exits. Allie asks Tripp if everything is okay. Tripp responds that everything is fine, he just wanted to tell her something and he thought she should hear it from him.

Belle cries to Marlena that she’s sorry to have to tell her. Marlena is glad she brought the children and asks if she’s alright. Belle says she’s fine. Johnny asks what happened. Belle doesn’t know and says the police are at the house now, trying to figure out who got in and how. Susan asks about EJ. Belle assures that he’s fine and went to the hospital with Chad and Abigail. Marlena asks about Abigail’s condition. Belle says there’s no word yet. Johnny decides he needs to be there so he exits. Marlena asks if Susan is alright. Susan responds that she just got a terrible chill..

Chad says he needs to be with his wife and see her. EJ tells him that he’ll be there. Chad says that Abigail was worried sick about the kids, so he asks EJ to go make sure they are ok. EJ tells him that Belle is with them, so he’s not going to leave him right now. Chad insists that he needs to be alone with his wife. EJ tells Chad to call if he needs anything. Chad asks Kayla where Abigail is. Kayla takes him to see her in the emergency room.

Chanel complains that Tripp just stopped hating her and is now going to leave town. Tripp points out that they are friends now. Chanel jokes that he may be the only friend she’s made in Salem that she hasn’t slept with. Chanel wishes Tripp the best and tells him not to stay away too long. Chanel then exits to let Allie and Tripp talk. Allie guesses that Tripp is leaving because of her.

Johnny arrives at the hospital and tells EJ that he heard from Belle that Abigail was stabbed. Johnny questions how since the mansion is supposed to be like a fortress and asks if they know how they got in. EJ responds that it’s Harold’s night off, Tony and Anna are away, while he and Belle didn’t see anything. EJ says the police are searching the place for evidence. Johnny asks how bad it is and if Abigail has to stay overnight. EJ then informs Johnny that Abigail has died. Johnny cries that it can’t be as EJ hugs him. Johnny asks where Chad is. EJ informs him that Chad is in with Abigail. EJ adds that he wanted to stay but Chad wanted him to go check on the kids. EJ asks how they are going to tell the kids about this. Johnny asks what he can do. EJ questions what any of them can do but help Chad and the kids get through this. EJ decides he better go and hugs Johnny. Johnny decides to stay and see if Chad needs anything. They say I love you as EJ then exits the hospital. Chanel comes off of the elevator and sees Johnny crying, so she asks what he’s doing here.

Marlena tells Belle that the nanny is getting the children settled in and asks where Susan is. Belle says she’s making tea. Belle asks why no one is calling. Belle cries that it was so awful as Abigail was so pale and there was blood everywhere. Belle adds that the kids don’t know and she didn’t know what to say to them. Belle worries the longer they don’t hear anything, the more scared she is for Abigail. Marlena hugs Belle as she cries.

Chad asks Kayla if he can be alone with Abigail. Kayla tells him to take all the time he needs as she exits. Chad cries that he loves her so much and he will love her forever.

Tripp assures Allie that he’s not leaving because of her but he can’t go back to work right now, so he’s going to do some things that he never had time to do before. Allie guesses he’ll go somewhere calmer than Salem. Tripp tells Allie that he really wants her to be happy. Allie says the same for him and that she’s going to miss him more than he knows. Allie adds that Henry will too. Allie hugs Tripp as he says he’s just going to Seattle. Steve comes back in but says he can come back later. Tripp says they are good. Kayla then comes in with tears in her eyes as she reveals the stabbing victim was Abigail. Kayla announces Abigail has died and breaks down crying as Steve hugs her.

Johnny tells Chanel about Abigail and says that he doesn’t think he ever told Abigail that he loved her, but he did. Chanel says she didn’t know her very well but she was always really nice to her. Johnny doesn’t know Chad, the kids, Jack and Jennifer are going to get over this. Chanel hugs Johnny as he cries.

Susan brings tea for Marlena and Belle. Marlena wonders if they should call EJ. Belle doesn’t know since he’s with Chad. There’s then a knock on the door. Marlena answers it to see EJ. Belle sees EJ and guesses that Abigail is gone. EJ confirms that she is. Susan hugs Marlena while Belle hugs EJ.

Chad cries as he tells Abigail that she was his whole life. Chad brings up their kids and asks why as he breaks down crying and kisses Abigail.

Young & The Restless Update

Recap written by Christine

Devon and Lily were at Nate’s having a work meeting. Billy came in late and apologized, then he pulled Lily aside to talk. She quietly told him to focus on the launch instead of his ex. He didn’t like the way things ended last night. Lily said it wasn’t the time, then she returned to the meeting. Nate said that the business press was salivating for some details about Chancellor Winters’ plans. He wanted to make sure they were going to make some specific announcements about their project tonight at the party. Devon said they were going to tease the up and coming projects but the focus would be on the overall vision of the future – two companies and families uniting to carry on an amazing legacy. Nate was honored to be part of the legacy, but he didn’t think they should give the impression that this merger was a symbolic change. He thought they needed to give the reporters something juicy. He asked what Lily thought. She sided with Devon, saying that they should focus on the big picture instead of the details. Lily got a call about work, and she and Devon stepped away to handle the issue. Nate tried to get Billy on his side. Billy said that the CEOs already made the decision. Everyone started working on the problem with the party. Something that they needed for tonight wasn’t ready.

Billy, Lily, Nate and Devon went to The Grand Phoenix. Crystal, the hotel manager, apologized and said Phyllis wouldn’t be here tonight, because she was visiting her son. Lily said Phyllis already contacted her. Abby was taking over, and she was already in the ballroom. Billy and Devon were surprised Abby was doing a favor for Phyllis. Lily said that Abby was doing this for them, not Phyllis. Devon felt good that Abby was involved. Nate and Devon went to do a sound check. Billy held Lily back. She wanted to talk later, but he said no, because she said some harsh things last night, and she’d been avoiding the conversation ever since. She said she had work to do. He wanted to explain himself. Lily thought the simple solution was for Billy to let Victoria and Ashland go. She thought he should respect Victoria’s autonomy as a woman and a mother. He said he did. She told him to stop thinking that Victoria would endanger the kids. She felt there was no need to change the custody agreement and that he was only doing this to interfere. He denied that. She told him to stop trying to think he could fix Victoria’s life. She said Victoria wanted to leave town because everyone was trying to micromanage her.

Billy said he wasn’t trying to stay involved in Victoria’s life. He had legitimate concerns, mostly because he hurt Victoria in the past, until she finally had enough and got rid of him. Lily said that Billy was making this about himself, and Victoria would say it wasn’t about him. Billy said that could be true, but he couldn’t stop worrying about Victoria, and this could have massive effects on the kids. Lily said that Billy didn’t have the right to try and run Victoria’s life. Billy said he wasn’t the same person he was when he was with Victoria, but because of that experience, he could see how this was going to unravel, and he was trying to stop her from getting her heart crushed. Lily felt that Victoria should be free to make her own mistakes. She knew it was hard for him to watch this, but it wasn’t his job to fix it. She hated that they were talking about Victoria on a day when they should be focused on the event. Billy thought Lily was implying he still had feelings for Victoria. Lily didn’t think he had feelings for Victoria; she just thought he was way too involved in Victoria’s life and that it went beyond co-parenting.

Billy said he and Victoria had a big history, and he couldn’t just cut ties. Lily countered that she had exes who didn’t cause trouble for their relationship. He pointed out that her exes didn’t live in Genoa City. She reminded him that Victoria might leave town. She wondered if that was his problem with this. He said no – his issue was that Victoria couldn’t let go of that monster. Lily snapped that she was done talking about this, so Billy needed to let it go. Billy didn’t want this to come between him and Lily. He said maybe she was right and this had just as much to do with him as it did with Victoria. If that was the case, he admitted he’d have to come to terms with that and let Victoria live her life. Lily appreciated Billy saying that. She knew that had to be hard for him. He loved her, and he knew she loved him too. He said he was a fool, but he’d be the world’s biggest fool if he didn’t listen to her.

Amanda and Imani were at Crimson Lights. After they finished a work discussion, Amanda asked who Imani was bringing as a date to the launch party. Amanda mentioned a couple of coworkers who she thought had shown an interest in Imani. Imani thought Amanda was being transparent about trying to get her to focus on anyone but Nate. Imani asked if Amanda was afraid she’d cast a spell on Elena’s boyfriend. They looked over and saw that Elena was there, across the room. Imani said it wasn’t like Elena had anything to worry about. Elena walked over and asked the sisters how their mom was. Amanda was happy to report Naya’s Afib was under control. Amanda said it looked like Elena had a long night saving lives. Elena confirmed it had been crazy at the hospital. Imani admired Elena for what she did, even though it probably didn’t give her any time for fun. Elena said she found time here and there, but she loved what she did, and the long hours were part of it. Imani imagined it was easier when Elena and Nate were going through it together. Amanda glared at her sister. Elena said Nate was happy in his new job, and she was happy for him. Imani was sure Nate would understand if Elena was too tired to attend the launch party. “You do look exhausted,” Imani added. “Thanks,” Elena replied. Elena said she’d be fine after she had a nap. Imani thought it was sweet that Elena was willing to sacrifice for Nate. Elena said that a party wasn’t a sacrifice; she looked forward to going. Elena left.

Amanda and Imani arrived at the Grand Phoenix. Amanda asked if the dig Imani took at Elena was necessary. Imani pointed out that Amanda was the one who said Elena looked like she had a long night. Imani said that if she were Elena, the last thing she’d want to do was put on high heels and a fake smile for her boyfriend, no matter how fine he was. Imani got a text from her date for tonight, Giancarlo from marketing. Amanda was pleased – this was one of the guys she’d thought was interested in Imani. Imani said Amanda could relax, because Elena had nothing to worry about.

Imani ended up with Nate, who was excited about tonight. Imani told Nate he should be proud of the work he’d done. Nate felt proud, but he worried tonight would be a missed opportunity. He told her how he wanted to make some announcements, but Devon wanted to focus on the big picture. Nate thought this was the time to show the world exactly what the merged company was going to do, and let the business world see how Chancellor Winters was going to innovate and disrupt. Nate told Imani how nobody else would take his side. Imani was supportive of Nate’s idea. From across the room, Amanda watched the pair with narrowed eyes. Later, Devon, Lily, Billy, Amanda, Nate and Imani were together. Billy told Lily and Devon that this was their moment. Devon and Lily said it was all of their moment. Nate stepped away to take a call. Billy told Lily he’d meet her at the office, but he had something to do first. Her face fell when he wouldn’t tell her where he was going. He kissed her cheek and left.

Elena went home and looked in the mirror and realized she really did look exhausted. She told herself it was because she actually worked instead of sitting around plotting and scheming. She got a phone call with disappointing news. When Nate came home, Elena told him that two doctors called in sick, so she had to work tonight. He asked if she could get anyone to cover. She tried, but she couldn’t. He understood. She really wanted to be there tonight and show everyone how proud she was of him. She said she ran into Amanda and Imani earlier and made a big deal about how excited she was to go, and now she wouldn’t even be there. She was sure Imani would be glad about that. Nate said that Imani was invested in the launch, so she’d be focused on work. He said he’d miss Elena like crazy tonight, but maybe once they were home, they could have their own private celebration. They kissed.

Across the hall, Devon and Amanda kissed in their penthouse. She was really proud of him and all he accomplished with Hamilton Winters and with this expanded family business. She knew Neil was smiling down on him and Lily as they built this amazing company. Devon said he and Amanda had come so far since they met – living together, working together and embarking on a new adventure together. Amanda couldn’t wait. Devon thought tonight would change everything. They kissed too.

Billy met Lily at the office. She was dressed for the party, and he felt like the luckiest man in the world. He told her how proud he was of her. She said she could do this job without him, but it would be a lot harder and a hell of a lot more boring. Billy’s errand was to buy a gift for Lily. It was an amethyst ring, which represented faithful love. She loved it, and she loved him. He said he loved her more than he could ever say, and he dind’t want anything to jeopardize what they had. He was letting go of the past and focus on the future with her. She thanked him for prioritizing their relationship. She knew it was a big step. He said tonight was about the realization of a vision – the future of a united family enterprises and of his future with her. He said tonight would change everything. They kissed.

At Society, Nikki felt just sick about Victoria. She wondered if there was anything they could’ve done to make Victoria realize she deserved a much better man. Victor told Nikki that she couldn’t keep beating herself up over this. She didn’t understand why Victoria would choose a relationship based completely on lies over her family. She acknowledged that Victoria didn’t make the best choices with men – she’d been involved with Billy, who had a gambling problem, but she walked away from him. Nikki didn’t understand why Victoria didn’t realize this was worse. Victor was perplexed too. Nikki felt like they were losing their daughter, and there was nothing they could do about it.

Victor wanted Nikki to stop blaming herself. Victor said he spoke to Ashland last night, and he said there was nothing Victor and Nikki could do to stop him and Victoria. Victor punched his fist into his palm and said he wished he could’ve wiped that smug smile off Ashland’s face, but he knew that would’ve been playing into Ashland’s hand. If he’d hit Ashland, he would’ve played the victim, and Victoria would’ve been more sympathetic to him. Ashland had said it was Victoria’s idea to leave town and that it was her family’s fault for pushing her away. Nikki didn’t believe that. Victor didn’t understand any of this. He felt they’d always encouraged Victoria, but she’d let them know in the past that she didn’t think they respected her enough.

Victor and Nikki continued to fret. Nikki said they couldn’t just let Victoria walk out of their lives, but Victor felt they had no choice but to let this play out. He said they’d have to let Victoria go, and Nikki looked like she was about to cry. Nikki said that even if Victoria realized she made a terrible mistake, she might be too proud to admit it. Nikki worried that Ashland would break Victoria’s spirit. “Have you forgotten how strong our daughter is?,” Victor asked. Nikki was concerned Victoria might never forgive the family. Victor thought Victoria would come to realize that the family only wanted the best for her and that they’d welcome her back with open arms. Victor had an idea to speed up Victoria’s decision to come back home. “There’s the Victor Newman I know and love,” Nikki said.

Victor talked about how much Victoria loved running Newman. He said he was going to make a splashy announcement that Adam would be the new CEO of Newman Enterprises. He would leave Nikki on as co-CEO, and she would have the power to rein Adam in as she saw fit. Nikki thought she should step down and become COO again, that way she could keep an eye on things without diluting the impact of Victor’s decision. “You’re thinking like a businesswoman, baby. I like that,” Victor said. Victor predicted that when Victoria found out her brother was running the business, it’d be too much for her to bear.

Victoria packed up her office. She glanced up at her portrait on the wall. She flashed back to Nikki saying that Victor commissioned it to replace the one that Ashland gave her – the one Victoria destroyed. Nikki said Ashland may have broken her heart but he didn’t destroy her spirit or strength of leadership, and that was what the new portrait represented. In the present, Nick walked in. Victoria told Nick that he wasn’t going to talk her out of leaving. He promised that wasn’t why he came.

Nick said he wouldn’t make the mistake of interfering again. He knew he had to accept that this was what she wanted and needed. He couldn’t stand the idea of her leaving town when there was so much distance and anger between them. He was afraid he’d never see his sister again. Nick said that Victoria had always been an important part of his life and she understood him the way no one else did. He understood that, since no one else knew what it was like to grow up as the child of the Great Victor Newman, with all the complications and obligations that went along with that. Victoria said Victor gave them everything he didn’t have as a child, but he put a lot of pressure on them. Nick said they were always fighting for Victor’s approval and competing to be the chosen one and win the ultimate prize – Newman Enterprises. Victoria said she and Nick competed well, sometimes together. He added that they ran Beauty of Nature. She said they ran Newman for a time. “We were the best team,” he said. He admitted they fought like hell sometimes, like every sibling did, but they always supported each other. He said he’d always be here for her. She asked if he was expecting her to say things hadn’t changed for her either. He was just trying to be honest, and he hoped she would be too.

Victoria was just tired of the constant judgments and attacks on everything she did. She wished he’d understand why she was doing this. Nick admitted he was worried Victoria was turning her back on everyone who loved her, and he was also worried Ashland would hurt her. Victoria told Nick that he didn’t know Ashland would hurt her. Nick hoped things worked out, but he was going to worry because of who Ashland was and all the games he’d played. Nick said he and Victoria had always shown up for each other and helped each other through the most terrible things you could imagine. That was what she wanted him to do now. Nick said he and Victoria always supported each other’s choices, good and bad, but he couldn’t say the same for the rest of the family. He noted that Nikki didn’t want him to marry Sharon, but Victoria knew how happy Sharon made him. Nick said Victoria had a lot of issues with Sharon, but she put that aside. Nick thought it was the same way with Billy – Victor hated him, but Nick knew this was Victoria’s choice to make. Victoria said she chose Ashland. She asked if Nick would support her. “Of course I will,” he assured her. He would never understand this decision, but he would always protect, support and defend her, because she was his sister, and he loved her.

What Nick said meant a lot to Victoria. She thanked him. She wished he could share this excitement with her. She was starting a new chapter on her own, away from the family. She just wished everyone understood she needed a little air to breathe, to chart her own path. She said she was starting a new life, in a way, and she wanted to share her news with him. He said she could call him whenever she wanted. They hugged.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Belle can’t believe EJ would casually say that Shawn’s baby might die and that would be a bright side to this as she pours herself a drink. EJ points out that Jan Spears having this baby is the reason that Belle and Shawn were separated. Belle stops him and asks what is wrong with him.

Shawn sits with Jan in the hospital as Jan worries about her stomach cramps. Shawn encourages that they are going to get her an IV to slow them down. Jan asks what if the baby comes today when it’s too soon.

Sarah goes to the hospital and asks Marlena if Kayla is on duty. Marlena responds that she thinks she might be in surgery. Sarah then cries that she needs help as she thinks the antidote is wearing off.

Lucas remains at the counter of the Pub, staring at the drink that Clyde left on the bar until Kate walks in and questions if he’s drinking. Lucas tells her that the drink is not his and that it belongs to Kate’s ex-boyfriend Clyde, who just left. Lucas swears he didn’t take a drink. Kate admits she saw Clyde leaving as she was coming in. Lucas complains about Kate not trusting him. Kate then takes the drink. Lucas tries to stop her by saying Clyde drank out of that glass but Kate says she needs the drink after just talking with Chad. Lucas asks what the big deal is. Kate reveals that Chad thought she should know that he told Abigail that Lucas is the one who kidnapped Sami. Lucas argues that she has to be kidding.

Abigail and Chad sit together in the town square. Abigail tells Chad about Gwen not being happy that she broke her mug and saying she would make her pay. Chad asks if Gwen said how she was going to do that. Abigail blows it off as Gwen just trying to scare her. Abigail tells Chad not to look so worried since Gwen is behind bars so there’s nothing she can do to her…

Gwen calls Leo from prison and says she needs to talk about Abigail. Gwen declares that if she doesn’t get to spend her father’s birthday with him, then neither does Abigail. Leo remains in the DiMera wine cellar and thinks she’s being a little dramatic. Gwen complains that she asked Abigail for one favor to get Jack the gift that she made for him for his birthday but Abigail smashed in to a million pieces. Gwen orders Leo to find the nearest, sharpest object and stab Abigail in the heart with it.

Marlena asks Sarah what makes her think the antidote is wearing off. Sarah tells her that she and Xander went to see Maggie to tell her that she got her memory back and that they were back together. Sarah states that while they were there, she had a hallucination of Kristen with a syringe and she thought she was coming after her but then she realized it was just Victor with a pen in his hand. Sarah says she didn’t let on because she didn’t want them to worry but admits she’s scared to death. Sarah asks Marlena if she knows what’s happening to her. Marlena encourages her not to panic. Sarah asks how to do that when she’s seeing things that aren’t there. Sarah asks if she’s losing her mind and what Gwen did to her.

Leo tells Gwen that this sounds a little extreme even for her. Gwen reminds him that their double wedding was supposed to be the day that changed their lives forever and then they got dumped by Xander and Craig. Gwen questions why they are always the ones that suffer while Abigail and Chad live their perfect lives together. Leo says he’s just as infuriated as she is. Gwen asks if he’s folding as she thought he wanted to inflict pain on all who hurt him. Leo brings up what he did to Chad and Sonny. Gwen blows that off as everyone knowing it was lies. Gwen declares that they need to hurt them the way that they hurt them. Leo says his phone is about to die. Gwen hopes so is Abigail. Leo then hangs up. Leo then picks up the knife from his breakfast tray and puts it in his bag.

Abigail tells Chad that Gwen will just sit around like she always does and it’s nothing new. Chad informs Abigail that he told Kate that Abigail knows Lucas kidnapped Sami. Chad admits that Kate was not pleased but he assured her that she would keep her mouth shut.

Lucas questions Kate as to why Chad told Abigail. Kate explains that he didn’t have a choice as Abigail got it in to her head that she wanted to solve the mystery and was planning to publish an article about it in the Spectator. Kate adds that Abigail already dug up Lucas’s friend Pete and was determined to go interview him in Wisconsin. Kate says that Chad couldn’t talk her out of it and was worried about what might happen if she went to investigate, so he thought the best way out of it was to tell her that it was her beloved uncle Lucas who kidnapped Sami. Kate admits that she can’t blame him. Lucas argues that he can blame him. Lucas asks what if they tell EJ or anyone else and worries that he would be screwed.

EJ reminds Belle that if Shawn told her immediately after he slept with Jan, that she would try to convince her to take the morning after pill. Belle argues that is not the same thing as that prevents pregnancy and doesn’t end one. Belle declares that this is a life and she does not and has never wished the baby dead, but it could die. Belle says she’s feeling sorry for herself while Shawn is probably freaking out at the hospital. Belle decides she has to go. EJ questions why she would do that. Belle responds that whether she likes it or not, this is Shawn’s baby and she would never forgive herself if she wasn’t there. Belle then rushes out of the DiMera Mansion.

Marlena encourages Sarah that she’s not losing her mind. Sarah asks why she thought she saw Kristen then. Sarah argues that the antidote is supposed to reverse the effects of Dr. Rolf’s drug. Marlena points out that it has set aside a lot of the damage she has been through but because of her dosage, there might be flare ups. Marlena knows Kayla has prescribed medication for her that helped Abigail, but the dosage may have to be increased. Sarah asks if these hallucinations are just something she’s going to have to live with for the rest of her life. Marlena hopes not but says it’s hard to give any guarantees. Marlena says they can adjust the dosage of her new medicine but she thinks they have reason to be optimistic. Marlena suggests Sarah talk to Abigail since she’s been through all of this. Sarah agrees that is a great idea and thanks Marlena for talking her down. Sarah then walks away as Belle arrives at the hospital. Marlena greets her and asks what she’s doing here. Belle informs her that she was with Shawn when she called to say Jan is in labor. Marlena confirms that Jan was admitted a little while ago. Belle argues that Jan can’t have the baby now since it’s so soon. Marlena agrees that it’s soon and they have given her medication to hopefully stop the contractions. Shawn then comes out and announces that Jan just passed out, so Marlena rushes to the room with Shawn.

EJ talks to the portrait of Stefano, saying he was too direct with Belle just now as he thought he was comforting her, but she left deeply offended. EJ supposes he should find a way to make this right as he finishes a drink. EJ then walks out of the living room. Leo then emerges from the tunnels and remarks that he thought EJ would never shut up and leave. Leo says it seems like everyone around here uses Stefano as a sounding board. Leo asks Stefano what he should do about Abigail or to Abigail.

Chad agrees with Abigail that Kate and Lucas have nothing to worry about. Chad thanks Abigail for agreeing not to say anything and apologizes for putting her in that position as he never wants to ask her to lie, especially to her own family. Abigail points out that Lucas is her mom’s half brother while she’s not related to Sami, unlike he and EJ. Chad states that keeping secrets from each other is part of his family’s favorite pastime but keeping secrets from his wife is not something he will ever do again. Abigail assures that there’s nothing he can’t tell her as she will always be on his side and she loves him. Abigail informs Chad that she is ovulating, so Chad suggests they get out of here.

Shawn comes back out and informs Belle that Jan has been rushed to the operating room as she had a placental abruption. Belle knows a woman in her office who had that and that woman lost the baby. Belle tells Shawn that she’s sorry and asks what Marlena said. Shawn says she agreed to stay with Jan since they wouldn’t let him go with her. Shawn worries that they were all so serious and he has no idea what’s going to happen to Jan or the baby.

Kate encourages Lucas that Chad gave her his word that Abigail is not going to say anything. Lucas questions her buying that. Kate insists that Abigail won’t send her own uncle to prison. Lucas points out that she sent her own sister there. Kate argues that he knows that’s completely different. Kate says that Abigail hates Gwen and loves Lucas, so she would understand he was desperate to keep Sami from going back to EJ. Kate admits that Lucas did a boneheaded thing but Abigail won’t send him to jail just because she feels like it when she’s a good person. Lucas worries about Abigail being an editor at a newspaper and she was working on Sami’s kidnapping story, so what happens if she decides to run the story anyway. Kate thinks it would solve all of Lucas’s problems if he just told Sami the truth. Lucas mocks the idea of that working out great for him. Kate argues that he doesn’t know and brings up how many times over the years that they have forgiven each other for doing horrible things. Kate asks why wouldn’t Sami eventually understand and forgive him. Kate adds that if Lucas is thinking of marrying Sami, he can’t live with this secret between them.

Sarah goes to see Gwen in prison. Gwen questions what she’s doing here. Sarah responds that they haven’t been properly introduced so she introduces herself and brings up Gwen borrowing her face to break up with Xander as her, so it must be like looking into a mirror.

Leo sneaks in to Chad and Abigail’s bed room. He then hears them coming so he runs to hide in the closet. Chad and Abigail enter the room and start kissing.

Gwen tells Sarah that she doesn’t want to get in to this now. Sarah says that’s too bad. Sarah complains that Gwen knew Kristen was holding her prisoner on that island and she left her there, stranded. Sarah adds that she would probably still be there if not for Abigail. Gwen blames Abigail for Sarah ever being sent to that island. Sarah asks how it’s Abigail’s fault. Gwen brings up the syringe and how Kristen never would’ve gotten it if Abigail hadn’t left it in the DiMera secret room where she was planning to use it on her. Sarah mocks the idea that Gwen’s the victim in all of this. Gwen argues that she didn’t kidnap Sarah, so she tells her to go find Kristen and tell her all of her troubles. Sarah says she plans to but thought she would start with Gwen first. Sarah talks about Xander getting her the antidote and how that didn’t work for Gwen, so she made sure she got a double dose of the crazy drug. Gwen argues that Sarah got the antidote and is now good as new. Gwen asks why Sarah is here bothering her.

Chad and Abigail lay in bed after having sex. Chad wonders if this is the day they made a baby. Abigail jokes that if they didn’t, it wasn’t for lack of trying, but she feels like they did which excites Chad. Abigail asks if Chad is hoping for another girl or another boy. Chad says twins. Abigail jokes that they would be seriously outnumbered. Chad says Thomas and Charlotte are old enough to help out. Abigail asks what Chad thinks about taking a little trip with the kids tonight since tomorrow is Jack’s birthday, so they could all fly to Boston together. Chad calls that a great idea but notes that it seems pretty sudden. Chad asks if they can leave in the morning which Abigail agrees to, asking what difference one night would make as they kiss.

Shawn asks what Belle was doing at the hospital anyway. Belle responds that she was worried about the baby and Shawn as he must be scared. Shawn admits that he is. Shawn calls it the baby he never wanted to happen but then he started thinking about whether it was going to be a boy or a girl and taking care of a new baby. Belle encourages that Jan has the best doctors and care here. Shawn brings up that the baby might be deprived of oxygen and nourishment so it’s going to be touch and go. Belle hugs Shawn and encourages him to keep believing the baby will be okay. EJ arrives and sees them. Shawn wonders how long it will be before he knows something. Belle declares that no matter how long it takes, she will be there for him.

Lucas tells Kate that he’s not going to tell Sami the truth and argues that if she found out that he held her against her will for months, she’ll send him to prison and then go back to EJ so fast. Kate says she gets it and she doesn’t want the information to come out either. Kate worries that Roman would never forgive her either if he found out she kept the information from him. Lucas knows holding a grudge is in the Brady DNA. Kate says it’s fine to not tell Sami, she just hates seeing this eat away at him. Lucas feels he has no choice. Kate suggests they meet back at the Pub for dinner tonight. Kate jokes that she will annoy him so much that he’ll forget all about Abigail. Lucas agrees to meet her later.

Chad gets dressed as their kids Thomas and Charlotte enter their room. Abigail asks what they think about a trip to Boston to surprise Jack for his birthday. Charlotte asks if they can take the DiMera Jet which Chad agrees to. Thomas asks about the Tooth Fairy and says it’s a he. Thomas asks what about Minions which Abigail questions. Chad explains that DiMera is doing a special screening of the new Minions movie and he said they could go. Abigail asks what time the screening is. Chad says it’s in like an hour so they can still make it. Thomas asks if Abigail can come too. Abigail says she’d love to but she still has to approve a layout for the paper and her assistant is going to send it to her in one hour. Charlotte questions her not going to the movie. Chad asks if it’s okay if he takes them which the kids agree to. Abigail hugs her kids and sends them to go change clothes. Abigail jokes with Chad about it being that easy to make the kids happy.

Sarah questions Gwen asking why she is bothering her and if she really has to spell it out. Gwen complains that Sarah got what she wanted. Sarah informs her that she had to relive the death of her baby and asks if she has any idea what that’s like. Gwen responds that she actually does. Sarah tells her to try doing it twice. Sarah confirms she got her memory back but she’s still having hallucinations. Sarah calls Gwen miserable. Gwen complains that she’s paying for it now as she’s stuck in prison and has lost everything from her family to her freedom to Xander. Sarah says she did it all to herself. Sarah declares that she and Xander are back together. Gwen blames that on Abigail stopping the wedding. Gwen argues that Xander loved her and they were going to get married. Sarah assures they sorted all that out and are now very happy. Sarah tells Gwen to think about that as she is taken back to her cell. Sarah then exits.

EJ approaches Shawn and Belle. Shawn questions what he’s doing here. EJ says he wanted to inquire about the baby. Shawn argues that he couldn’t care less about his baby. EJ understands how worried he must be. Shawn says EJ is the last thing he wants to deal with and tells him to get the hell out. Marlena comes back so Shawn asks what happened in the OR. Marlena confirms that they stopped the bleeding and Jan will be fine, but they had to deliver the baby. Marlena announces the baby is small, but alive, and that Shawn has a son. Marlena explains that the baby was rushed him to the NICU and will be there for quite awhile. Shawn asks if he can see him but Marlena says they are still evaluating him. Shawn asks about Jan. Marlena says she was taken back to her room. Shawn decides he should probably be there when Jan wakes up. Shawn thanks Belle for staying with him as he then heads to Jan’s room. Marlena decides to go check on more information on the baby and walks away. EJ tells Belle that it must have been a lot to take in and wishes she would say something. Belle asks EJ to just get her out of here. EJ asks where she’d like to go. Belle has tears in her eyes as she says anywhere and then leaves the hospital with EJ.

Gwen notices the prison guard has fallen asleep. She sneaks back to the phone and makes a call, saying she needs their help.

Chad and Abigail talk about being lucky to have great kids as they kiss. Chad asks Abigail what the whole Tooth Fairy thing was about. Abigail says she will tell him when he gets back. Abigail tells Chad that she loves him. Chad says he loves her and then exits the room.

Lucas remains at the Pub with a drink in front of him on the table. Lucas says to himself that for all he knows, Abigail could be writing that story right now. Lucas adds that Will, Allie, and Sami will hate him and he might be headed for prison. Lucas then gets up and goes behind the bar . Lucas grabs a bottle of alcohol and sneaks out of the Pub with it.

Abigail sits in her room with her laptop while Leo remains hiding in the closet.

Kate sits at the bar of the Brady Pub, waiting for Lucas. She pulls out her phone and texts him, asking where he is as she thought they were having dinner.

Lucas passes out in his bed at the Salem Inn with the bottle of alcohol in his hand.

EJ brings Belle home to the DiMera Mansion and asks if she’s feeling any better. Belle jokes that the second bottle of wine took the edge off. EJ apologizes for what he said earlier and being unfeeling about a child’s life. EJ calls it a very ham-handed attempt to make her feel better. Belle says she does want to. Belle then asks EJ to make her feel better as they start kissing.

Gwen tries to sneak back in to the prison visiting room but the prison guard catches her, noting that she missed bed check and questions where she’s been. Gwen claims she was in the library but he says they searched there. Gwen claims she fell asleep in a corner and just woke up. Gwen asks where else she could have been…

Leo rushes outside to a bench, sweating in a panic as he grips on to his bag.

Chad returns home from the movies, shocked to find Abigail’s bloody body on their bed.

In the town square, Chad informs Kate that he told Abigail that Lucas kidnapped Sami. Kate asks why he did that.

Marlena and Lucas exit the Brady Pub. Marlena talks about how good it was to see Will and says she misses him already. Lucas points out that he’ll be back soon and it will be nice to have the whole family together. Marlena points out that Will said that exact thing before he left for the airport. Marlena recalls Roman saying something about planning a party. Marlena gets paged to an appointment and jokes that Lucas if off the hook for the moment as she walks away.

Jan talks to Shawn at home about having her first appointment with Marlena. Jan brings up how Marlena has to come to her because of her bed rest and high risk pregnancy and the ankle monitor. Jan complains that the house is not designed for a person who is about to go through a major psychological breakthrough, but she wants to make the conditions as perfect as possible. Shawn advises her to keep her expectations low. Jan knows she won’t become mentally healthy overnight but vows to get there and be the mother that their baby deserves.

Belle goes to EJ’s room, where he is coming out of the shower in just a towel. Belle says she was just returning his robe and didn’t know he was in there.

Susan enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion and tells Abigail that she got a powerful feeling that there is a foreign presence among them. Susan states that there is someone here that’s not supposed to be in this house. Abigail tells her about Thomas saying he ran in to the tooth fairy in the basement. Susan complains about not being on good terms with the tooth fairy and says she’d like to have a word with her. Abigail decides she’s going to go down there and take a look.

Marlena goes to see Jan. Jan and Shawn thank Marlena for making time to see her. Jan has a really good feeling about this and promises to be the best patient Marlena’s ever had. Marlena says they will take it one step at a time and see how it goes. Shawn says he’s going to head out to give them some privacy. Jan asks if Shawn will be at the police station, explaining that she likes to know where he is in case something happens with their baby. Shawn reveals that he was actually going to Marlena’s to see if Belle is there to try and get her to reconsider the separation. Marlena informs him that Belle is not there so Shawn asks where she is.

Belle tells EJ that she should go and he should get dressed. EJ asks if Harold sent up her breakfast tray but Belle says it seems to have disappeared. Belle doesn’t know what happened. EJ jokes that perhaps a hungry little fairy stole it…

Abigail tells Susan that she’s going to see if she can find the tooth fairy. Susan worries about the basement. Abigail says that Thomas said he ran in to someone that told him to keep it quiet. Abigail decides she’s going to check it out and tells her to let the nanny know where she is. Susan offers to go with her. Abigail then gets a call from Statesville Prison. It’s Gwen, who says she needs to see her. Abigail responds that she never wants to see her again. Gwen knows she hates her but she hopes she will come see her anyway, insisting that it’s extremely important…

Lucas sits at the counter of the Brady Pub and asks for a refill. Clyde turns around and says he’s about to go on his lunch break. Clyde invites Lucas to join him but he declines, noting that he doesn’t drink. Lucas says he thought that was Clyde when he saw him around the kitchen last night but he thought to himself there’s no way that Clyde Weston works here. Clyde explains that gainful employment is a condition of his parole and Roman needed a cook. Lucas questions not finding someone more qualified and having to pick someone who terrorized the whole town. Clyde says that’s all behind him and he’s a family man now. Clyde mentions seeing Lucas with his daughter last night. Lucas tells him to stay away from Allie. Clyde says he couldn’t help but overhear part of his conversation and it sounds like he had a little dust up with EJ DiMera. Lucas confirms he did and asks what it is to him. Clyde responds that any enemy of EJ is a friend of his. Lucas questions why he’d say that and if he has a problem with EJ.

EJ tells Belle that the morning is quickly getting away from them. Belle says she should get out of his hair as she’s sure he has a busy day. EJ says it’s not as busy as he’d like since Gabi is still in charge of DiMera. Belle can’t believe Kristen voted to retain Gabi as CEO. EJ assures that he and Chad have no intention of letting that stand. Belle suggests they can strategize about Gabi and Clyde. EJ asks if Belle has told anyone that Clyde’s man shot him and let everyone believe some random mugger did it. Belle confirms that she hasn’t told anyone. EJ reminds her that turning in Clyde is not an option but he does have a plan to get his revenge. Belle thinks he should scrap his plan and let her think of a way to bring Clyde to justice legally. EJ offers her lunch since she missed breakfast. Belle suggests brunch which EJ agrees to as she exits the room.

Marlena informs Shawn that she and Belle had a bit of a problem last night. Jan hopes it wasn’t about her. Marlena confirms that it was as Belle found out that she’s treating Jan and she was upset and didn’t come home last night. Shawn asks if she went to the Salem Inn. Marlena reveals that she spent the night at the DiMera Mansion. Shawn decides he has to go and rushes out of the house while Jan watches with a bit of a smile.

Kate reminds Chad that she just told him not to tell anyone about the kidnapping. Chad feels he had no choice but to tell Abigail. Kate argues that this is just about Chad’s guilt over letting EJ take the blame for a crime he didn’t commit. Kate asks if it doesn’t matter what happens to Lucas. Chad says it’s not like that. Kate questions why he would do something so incredibly stupid then. Chad explains that Abigail was trying to make it her next investigative piece to find out who kidnapped Sami and she refused to let it go. Chad adds that Abigail tracked down the other henchman that Lucas hired and she was going to go to Milwaukee to talk to him. Chad says he wasn’t going to let Abigail leave the state to find the truth when he could tell her himself. Kate argues that Chad doesn’t know that the guy was going to talk and questions why Chad did.

Gwen begs Abigail to come to the prison and promises she would never call her if it wasn’t really urgent. Abigail then hangs up. Susan points out that Abigail didn’t say goodbye. Susan asks who was on the phone. Abigail informs her that it was her sister Gwen, who wants her to come visit her in prison and said it’s important. Susan didn’t get a good feeling. Abigail says she wasn’t either but she never does with Gwen. Abigail complains that Gwen is in her head now and she can’t help but wonder what she wanted. Susan questions if Abigail is going to the prison, reminding her that curiosity killed the cat. Abigail guesses it’s a good thing that she’s not a cat then as she then exits the mansion. Susan remarks that it’s what they all say.

Marlena begins her therapy session with Jan. Jan stops to ask if Belle and EJ are officially together. Marlena warns her that she won’t treat her if she’s not serious about this. Jan says she is serious but she assumed Belle was with EJ, so she was curious how Marlena felt about it. Marlena asserts that this conversation is about Jan, not her or Belle. Jan apologizes and says she’s a little nervous as she needs this to work so she can be a good mother to her baby. Marlena questions that being the reason she’s doing this. Jan says of course and she told her that. Marlena says she’d like to believe her but part of her is afraid this might be a performance and that she might be pretending to want therapy to appease Shawn, while using her to further that relationship. Jan swears she’s doing this for herself and her baby, no other reason. Marlena brings up Jan’s obsession with Shawn and her attempts to break up Shawn and Belle as her reasons for being reluctant to believe her. Jan assures that is over. Marlena warns that if she sees any sign at all that she’s up to her old tricks, the sessions will end. Jan promises there will be no signs as she just wants to get better like Ben did. Jan mentions that Ben told her therapy with Marlena is what helped him more than anything. Jan talks about Ben saying he had to face the things he did head on. Marlena confirms that and says Ben had to think about how he hurt people and he had to feel their pain. Marlena asks if she’s ready to do that. Jan says she is but then starts having stomach pains.

EJ and Belle enter the living room where they find Susan, who says she’s just feeling for tooth fairy vibes. Susan tells Belle that she understands she stayed over last night. Belle questions how she knew. Susan reveals that Harold told her. Susan then starts saying she’s sensing something is going on between them. Susan asks if there is something going on between EJ and Belle. Shawn then walks in and says he’d like to know the answer to that as well.

Chad complains to Kate that he should’ve done nothing while his wife went off to confront a violent felon about his role in a criminal conspiracy. Kate says she gets his point. Kate tells Chad that she’s going to need to be assured that Abigail won’t tell a soul. Chad tells her to trust him. Kate wants Abigail to sign a non-disclosure agreement since it’s about Lucas’s freedom and he could go to prison. Chad repeats that Abigail promised not to say anything to anyone.

Abigail goes to see Gwen in prison. Gwen is surprised she came. Abigail says she realized she really wanted to see her and mocks the idea that she missed her. Abigail complains about Gwen’s lies and how she hurt people she cares about. Gwen asks why she came then. Abigail says Gwen said it was important so she thought maybe Gwen was going to finally tell her what actually happened with her grandmother. Gwen asks if that’s still eating away at her. Abigail says it is whether or not Gwen murdered her in cold blood because she has a sense of humanity. Gwen says she’s sorry but this isn’t about Laura, but about someone else that is very important to Abigail that she wouldn’t want to get hurt. Abigail has zero interest in playing games so she asks Gwen why she’s here or she’s gone. Gwen says it’s about Jack. Abigail demands to know what she did to him. Gwen responds that Jack would be hurt if he’s not properly celebrated since tomorrow is his birthday. Gwen complains that she can’t throw him a party or take him out for a nice meal, but she wants Jack to know how much she cares for him and that she wishes she could be with him. Gwen reveals that she made Jack a gift and hopes Abigail could deliver it to him.

Lucas asks Clyde about his beef with EJ. Clyde asks if he said they had a beef. Lucas says he implied they were enemies. Clyde says that’s probably too strong of a word but explains that he brought EJ a very lucrative business proposition but he turned him down cold, so he’s deeply disappointed. Lucas questions Clyde being tight enough with EJ to pitch him business deals. Clyde says they were cellmates in prison for awhile so they got to know each other pretty well. Clyde calls EJ a talker. Lucas bets EJ talked about himself the whole time. Clyde responds that EJ actually talked a lot about Lucas and didn’t have a lot of nice things to say. Lucas asks what about him. Clyde informs him that EJ wouldn’t shut about Sami’s kidnapping, swearing he was innocent and that he shouldn’t be in prison but that Lucas should be, since he’s the one who really did it.

Belle questions what Shawn is doing here. Shawn asks Belle the same since Marlena said she spent the night. Belle tells Shawn that it’s not his concern. Shawn argues that she’s his wife while Belle reminds him that they are legally separated so she’s under no obligation to tell him where she sleeps, especially when he has a psychopath living in their house. Susan questions that so Belle tells her that Jan Spears is pregnant with Shawn’s baby. Shawn says it’s not what she thinks and knows Belle is upset. Belle argues that she was fine until Shawn barged in to interrogate her. Shawn says no one is interrogating her but Susan asked what’s going on with her and EJ. EJ tells Belle that he doesn’t have to answer that. Shawn tells EJ that he’s speaking to his wife. Susan argues that it’s EJ’s house. EJ thanks Susan but says he can handle this. EJ tells Shawn that Belle needed a place to be to feel safe and comfortable and chose to come here and she’s welcome to stay for as long as she likes. EJ adds that they were about to have brunch, so Shawn can see himself out. Shawn declares that he was right about why Belle wanted to get separated. Shawn complains that Belle said this had nothing to do with EJ but five minutes after he signed the papers, she moves in with him. Belle argues that she did not move in, she’s just staying here. Shawn argues that they both know damn well what’s going on here. Belle complains that she’s just trying to find a place to stay where she doesn’t feel betrayed or insulted. Shawn continues to complain about EJ and accuses EJ of succeeding in stealing her from him. Shawn argues that Belle went from working with EJ to living with him and accuses her of now sleeping with him.

Jan continues to complain about her stomach pain and says it’s like nothing she ever felt before. Marlena encourages her to stay calm but Jan reveals that she thinks she’s in labor.

Abigail questions Gwen making Jack a gift and remarks that she thought she was only capable of making trouble and misery. Gwen responds that she worked very hard on the gift and started over three times to get it right. Abigail questions her being serious. Gwen then reveals a mug she made in her art therapy that says “Dad” on it. Abigail busts out laughing and calls it pathetic. Gwen asks if she will give it to Jack or not. Abigail suggests she just mail it. Gwen says that would take months or he might not get it at all. Gwen argues that it was the best she could do and Jack was very kind to her in getting Justin to help reduce her sentence, so she wanted to show her gratitude. Abigail remarks that she could always try not being the biggest bitch to ever live. Gwen argues that Abigail is just trying to punish her by letting Jack think that she forgot his birthday while they all celebrate his birthday at the Horton house. Abigail points out that Jack is in Boston. Gwen asks if she’s not going to fly out to be with him on his birthday. Abigail confirms she thought about flying out to surprise him. Gwen asks her to take her gift then. Gwen knows Abigail hates her but Jack doesn’t and he is all she has left. Gwen says it would mean the world to her if she could just do this one favor for her and give Jack the mug. Abigail agrees to take the mug, so Gwen thanks her. Abigail then picks up the mug and drops it on the floor, smashing it.

Kate questions why Chad didn’t tell her that Abigail promised not to say anything right away. Chad explains that Abigail hates lying but she understands in this case that it’s for the greater good as she doesn’t want to destroy his relationship with EJ or send Lucas to prison since that would destroy Jennifer. Kate calls it an assurance but not a guarantee. Chad says that’s as close as she will get and points out that he didn’t even have to tell Kate. Kate questions why she did but then acknowledges that she’s given Chad a number of reasons not to give a damn about her, but he still does. Chad can relate to this being about Kate’s child so he assures that she does not have to worry about Lucas.

Lucas questions Clyde saying that EJ told him he kidnapped Sami. Clyde says that EJ had no doubt it was a frame job. Lucas argues that EJ can’t live with his own guilt and projects his feelings onto others. Clyde suggests Lucas could always sue him for slander if what he says is not true. Lucas says he’s not taking EJ to court as he doesn’t need that messy court battle and doesn’t need the money right now either. Clyde comments that it must be nice. Clyde says it might be a blessing that EJ turned down his business opportunity because he thinks Lucas would be a much better partner.

Jan continues complaining of her stomach pain and pleads with Marlena to help her.

Belle tells Shawn that she is not sleeping with EJ, she is sleeping by herself in a guest room because she can’t spend another night at Marlena’s. Shawn argues that Belle could have gone to the Salem Inn or any other hotel, but she knew that coming here would send a message. Belle says she was too busy dealing with the shock of being utterly betrayed by her entire family. Shawn argues that everybody is on Belle’s side. Belle asks how when she was already living with her worst nightmare by Jan having her husband’s baby and living in her house and now her mother wants to be Jan’s therapist while Shawn and John just go along with it. Shawn states that Jan needs help and if she doesn’t get it, the innocent baby will suffer. Shawn prays that Marlena succeeds for everyone’s sake. Susan encourages that she will because Marlena can work miracles. Susan then apologizes as it’s not her business. Belle asks if they are just going to live happily ever after if Jan is cured and is no longer a homicidal maniac. Shawn then gets a call from Marlena which Belle mocks. Shawn answers and asks if everything is okay. Shawn says he’s on his way and hangs up, revealing they have gone to the hospital because Jan is in labor.

Clyde tells Lucas that the opportunity he mentioned is very lucrative as he puts a little money in and takes a whole lot out. Clyde asks if Lucas is interested. Lucas guesses there’s no way it’s legal and he’d like to stay out of prison. Clyde says if he changes his mind, he knows where to find him. Clyde adds that if EJ was going around saying he committed a crime that he didn’t, he wouldn’t be too happy about it. Lucas responds that he’s not happy about it but there’s nothing he can do. Clyde remarks that there’s always something he can do and he might just need a little help doing it. Clyde suggests maybe they could help each other. Lucas says maybe, so Clyde tells him to think about it and walks away.

Abigail steps on the remains of Gwen’s mug, smashing it into pieces. Gwen questions what the hell she did that for. Abigail says she put that thing out of it’s misery. Gwen cries that the thing was a gift for their father and she just deliberately destroyed it. Abigail shouts that Gwen destroys everything she touches so she has no right to complain. Gwen asks what is wrong with her. Abigail argues that Gwen tried to ruin her life and then tormented her forever about the death of her grandmother. Gwen yells that Abigail didn’t have to break her gift. Abigail remarks that she’s lucky that’s all she broke. Gwen says she’ll just make another one. Abigail tells her to make a whole set because she will have plenty of time for it. Gwen calls her a selfish bitch and vows to make her pay for this. Abigail then exits the prison.

Belle asks if Shawn just said Jan is in labor. EJ tells Belle that he’s so sorry. Susan decides she will leave now but EJ asks what she has planned for the day. Susan says nothing so EJ invites her to join them for brunch. Susan declines as she doesn’t want to be the third wheel. Susan reminds EJ that Belle is still married and EJ is still married to her sister. Susan knows Sami has moved on, but she doesn’t think EJ has and she’s not convinced that EJ is over Sami. Susan then exits the room.

Shawn goes to the hospital, on the phone explaining that Jan’s ankle monitor went off because she was admitted to the hospital and he will clear everything up with her probation officer. Shawn asks Marlena where Jan is. Marlena directs him to her room up the hall.

Lucas remains at the counter of the Pub, staring at the drink that Clyde left on the bar until Kate walks in and questions what the hell he’s doing.

Belle tells EJ that no matter how hard she tries to wrap her head around it, she can’t believe Jan is at the hospital now about to deliver her husband’s baby. Belle points out that Jan is going in to labor a lot sooner than she was supposed to so the baby will be very premature. EJ then remarks that maybe there’s a bright side and the child won’t survive.

Shawn goes to Jan’s hospital room. Jan thanks him for coming and says it’s too soon so the baby can’t come yet. Shawn encourages that the doctors will take care of her. Jan asks what if something happens. Jan cries that she already loves the baby more than anything in the world and she’s scared. Shawn holds her hand and assures that everything will be alright as he’s there.

Chad and Abigail sit together in the town square. Abigail explains to Chad that Gwen asked her to give Jack a mug but claims she accidentally dropped it. Abigail then admits she smashed it on purpose and Gwen was not too happy about it. Abigail adds that Gwen threatened to make her pay.

Gwen makes a call from prison and says she needs to talk about Abigail. Gwen declares that if she doesn’t get to spend her father’s birthday with him, then neither does Abigail.

Recap written by Christine

After Victor learned that Victoria was planning to move away with Ashland, Victor went and confronted Ashland at his suite. Victor refused to let Ashland take Victoria away. Ashland said Victoria was choosing to come with him, because she knew his mistakes and loved him anyway. Victor said Victoria would soon learn Ashland was the human parasite Victor always suspected he was. Ashland questioned Victor saying he always suspected this. “Don’t you think I checked up on you? Don’t you think I learned about the fact that you assumed your dead friend’s identity and stole a woman’s fortune to build your empire?,” Victor asked. Victor regretted letting Nikki call the ambulance when Ashland had a heart attack at the ranch. Victor wished he’d let Ashland die.

Ashland said Victor could try and control Victoria’s life, but he couldn’t control her heart, and love triumphed over all. Laughing, Victor said Ashland didn’t know what love was. Victor thought that Ashalnd was perpetrating a manipulative sham. Ashland had thought there was nothing left for him in this town after the restraining order, but then Victoria came to him and said she still loved him. Ashland couldn’t take all the credit for winning Victoria back, since her loyalty to the family ran deep. Ashland said Victor drove Victoria away with his iron fist and lack of respect for her independence. Victor said this wasn’t over, and he left.

Victoria was with Billy in his office. He was skeptical of her story that she was leaving town for herself. He was sure Ashland had something to do with this. She admitted Ashland was integral to her decision. He thought she might be leaving town because she was ashamed she’d fallen for Ashland’s scheme. He told her not to let Ashland run her out of town. Victoria told Billy to stop talking. She revealed that she forgave Ashland, and they were leaving together. He asked how she could forgive Ashland after all he’d done. She said she had a lot of practice, since she’d forgiven Billy many times.

Billy didn’t think it was fair to compare him to someone who lied about having cancer for months. Victoria thought Billy would understand, given his podcast about redemption. Billy thought Ashland was all out of second chances once he assumed his friend’s identity and forged a woman’s will. Victoria though forgiveness was possible after true contrition. Billy was disturbed by the hold Ashalnd had on Victoria, that would make her leave her family, company and Johnny and Katie behind. She said the kids didn’t know she’d ever broken up from Ashland, and she’d never leave them behind. He asked where she was going, and she said she’d let him know. Billy said he wasn’t signing off on Johnny and Katie going God-knows-where with Ashland Locke. He didn’t want his kids anywhere near that monster.

Victoria said the kids were at boarding school, so their lives wouldn’t be disrupted. She pointed out that she and Billy had joint custody, so he couldn’t tell her where she could take the kids. Billy said that agreement was based on the two of them living in the same city. Victoria said that divorced parents moved all the time. She’d file the paperwork to have the agreement amended. Billy said he’d fight the motion. He wasn’t letting her take the kids away from Genoa City. She aksed if he really thought she’d do anything to hurt the kids. He never did, so that was why he was having such a hard time understanding her latest move. He was adamant that Ashland was a threat to their kids. Victoria argued that Ashland would never hurt their kids. Billy announced that Summer and Kyle filed a restraining order to keep Ashland from Harrison. Victoria said her father orchestrated the whole thing. Billy said that restraining order was public record. He wished Victoria luck finding a judge that would ignore it. She asked when he became such a fan of her father’s methods. He said he was doing what he had to do to protect his kids. She didn’t come to ask for permission – she was telling him her plans as a courtesy. He wasn’t going to let her take the kids. She guessed she was wrong to think that he wouldn’t put the kids through a tug of war. She began to storm out. He followed and said Ashland would hurt her again. She snapped that she was a grown woman. He yelled back her he wouldn’t let her bad choices affect his children. “I will fight you on this,” he warned. She left.

Lily came in and reported to Billy that everything was going great with the launch. Billy brought Lily up to speed on Victoria and Ashland. Billy didn’t understand this. Lily didn’t either, but she thought Billy had decided to take a step back and let Victoria’s family deal with this kind of thing. Billy said this was different because it affected his kids. He wasn’t okay with Victoria taking his kids out of town to live with Ashland. “Enough is enough,” Lily said. Billy agreed. He said he’d tried to be patient with Victoria’s feelings for Ashland, but he was putting his foot down. He needed to protect his kids from their mother’s bad decision. “I wasn’t talking about Victoria, Billy. I was talking about you,” Lily clarified. She said this was Victoria’s decision, and he couldn’t penalize his kids for it. He said he was protecting the kids because Ashland was dangerous. Lily argued that Billy knew Ashland was not a physical threat to Johnny and Katie and that Victoria would never put their lives at risk. Billy said he used to know that, but Victoria wasn’t thinking clearly anymore. Billy didn’t know how far Ashland would go, and he didn’t want his kids to find out. Lily said this wasn’t about the kids, it was about Billy’s inability to let go of Victoria. She thought he seized any opportunity to be Victoria’s protector. Lily was so fed up with this twisted push and pull routine, and she wasn’t putting up with it any longer.

Victoria went to Ashland’s room with a small bag. She was going to send for the rest of her things once they were settled in NY. He asked if she was sure about this, and she said absolutely. He told her Victor stopped by, and his fury was something to behold. She asked if Victor intimidated him. He said no. Ashland thought it was sad – he’d been emboldened by Victoria’s love, but he also knew what it was like to lose her love. He saw that in Victor’s eyes – fear of losing his beloved daughter. Victoria said Victor was the one who drove her away. Ashland said as angry as Victoria was at her father, her connection to her family ran deep. She said that was why she wanted to leave now, and get away from her father’s reach. He said this would be difficult for her. She knew, and she was ready for it. The only problem she had was Billy wanting to fight her for custody of the kids. She said Billy didn’t have a leg to stand on, and she’d fight him back just as hard. She just hoped it didn’t get too ugly.

Adam jogged in the park, where he stopped to text Victor and asked to meet to talk business. Chelsea came up and commented that he had time to run in the middle of the day, while she got her cardio in between work and taking care of Connor. Adam was happy to have Connor spend more time at the ranch if Chelsea was overwhelmed. She said it was fine; Connor had a half day today, so that made logistics a little more complicated. She pointed Connor out – he was at soccer practice in the park. She turned somber and said she thought Connor loved his new coach because he was similar to Rey. Adam asked if Chelsea was okay since the last time they saw each other. She defensively said she wasn’t going off the deep end. He wasn’t worried about that. He could just tell when she was troubled, and he knew it was a stressful time, since she was working on a new line with Chloe at Fenmore’s. Chelsea called Adam patronizing. She said her job had been a dream, there was no infighting or fear of getting stabbed in the back. “So in other words, unlike your last employer,” Adam said. “Exactly,” Chelsea replied. Adam was glad Chelsea was handling things. He said Rey’s death was a shock, so he worried for her and Connor. She asked if he was implying he didn’t trust her around their son. He wasn’t saying that. He knew she always put Connor first. He just acknowledged this was a tough time for Chelsea and Connor, and he wanted to make sure Chelsea was taking time for herself. Chelsea didn’t believe that was all this was, since she felt that Adam always had an agenda. Kyle walked up on Chelsea snapping at Adam not to worry about her. Adam tried to defuse things, and Kyle got involved and asked if there was a problem.

Adam and Chelsea said there was no problem. Adam divulged that Ashland was leaving town – the restraining order Victor arranged seemed to have worked. Kyle didn’t hear anything about Ashland leaving, and he was skeptical since the details were coming from Adam. Kyle suggested that Adam might want to get back to his run. Chelsea said the nanny would take Connor home after his scrimmage so if Adam wanted to see him, now was the time. Adam went off to see his son. Kyle asked if Chelsea was sure she was okay. She said she was fine – just a couple exes arguing over their kid. She said Adam was a lot, but he was a good dad. Kyle hoped he didn’t overstep by intervening. Chelsea appreciated Kyle stepping in, and she invited him to coffee as thanks. He accepted.

Summer and Sally ran into each other at Crimson Lights. Sally was surprised Summer was able to get away from Marchetti, since it must be a busy time. Summer commented that Sally had a meteoric rise since being fired by Lauren. Summer liked the wedding dress Sally designed for Victoria, but she never imagined that would culminate in Sally becoming COO of Newman Media. Summer called it luck, but Sally said it was ambition – something she and Summer both had a lot of.

Sally didn’t see a reason to get into a blow by blow of their career trajectories. Summer assumed Sally was talking about the time she and Tara conspired to drive Summer out of town and away from Kyle. That was what Sally meant. Summer couldn’t help but wonder if Sally’s career ascension happened because she was sleeping with the boss. Sally thought that the important thing was that Sally and Summer had their dream jobs with their dream guys – Summer in Milan and Sally in Genoa City. Summer knew Sally liked her being on a different continent. Summer said she was destined to work at Marchetti, but she belonged in Genoa City, and now she was back for good.

Summer noticed that Sally didn’t seem happy for her. Sally said she was just surprised. She congratulated Summer and said she deserved it. Summer said she’d have full control of the fashion house, a loving husband, their adorable son and a full life in her hometown, surrounded by friends and family. Kyle and Chelsea walked in, and Sally was suddenly ready to leave. Sally said to let her know if their little fashion house needed a push from the giant media conglomerate she and Adam ran. Sally left. Summer said Kyle and Chelsea rescued her by coming when they did. Chelsea said there was a lot of that going around.

Chelsea told Summer what happened at the park. Summer bet things were tricky with Adam these days. Chelsea said they always were with him. Summer got the sense that Sally was intimidated by Chelsea. Summer guessed Sally did something to blow up Newman Fashion. Chelsea said it wasn’t actually Sally’s fault – it shut down over a corporate decision. Summer was sure that it wasn’t easy to work with Sally, though. Chelsea said it wasn’t all bad. However, Chelsea quickly said Sally was the worst person to work with, because it was all about her, and once she got her claws into Adam, things got very uncomfortable. Summer wasn’t surprised since Sally was a world class opportunist. Chelsea said she didn’t want to badmouth Sally, but she was a lot happier working with Chloe on their own to produce an exclusive line for Fenmore’s.

Summer asked a lot of questions about Chelsea’s work at Fenmore’s. Chelsea felt like this was a job interview. Kyle encouraged Summer to tell Chelsea. Summer told Chelsea about the Marchetti sale. Summer said they were thinking about a collaboration between Marchetti and Fenmore. Kyle said Jabot owned all of Marchetti and almost 50% of Fenmore’s, so it would make sense for greater profit margin. Lauren was on the board of Jabot, so she knew about the sale of Marchetti, but not about the potential for Fenmore’s to be the exclusive distributor. Chelsea loved the idea of working with Summer and Kyle.

Adam and Victor met at Newman Media. Adam thought they should talk, in light of Victoria’s decision to run off with Locke. Adam said the positive was that Ashland was out of the company and out of town. Victor was angry and upset that Victoria was going to leave the company and leave the family. Victor vowed to get Ashland if it was the last thing he did. Adam understood Victor was upset because he spent a lot of time, love and energy grooming Victoria to be his successor, only for her to self-destruct. Adam said Victoria was given every opportunity and she threw it away. Victor said he’d only wanted the best for his children, and he raised them all to be strong self-possessed adults. Adam knew it must be painful to Victor that Victoria lost her way. Adam said that it had always been clear to him and everyone else that Victor viewed Victoria as the heir apparent, so this must be especially hard for Victor. Victor agreed. Adam said he wasn’t saying this to take a jab at Victoria. He said he made the deal with Ashland, so he’d done his part to get rid of Ashland. Adam said he wasn’t sure how the family could reach Victoria. Victor was coming around to Adam’s way of thinking. Adam said Victoria was headstrong, which was usually a gift, but it seemed to be a curse this time. Victor said he couldn’t get Victoria to see that if she remarried Ashland, it would have consequences. Victor asked what if Victoria failed and came back a broken woman. He thought Victoria was doing something that could cause irreparable harm.

Adam said Victoria might not fail. Victor said of course she would – there was no future success where Ashland was involved. Adam stated that the smart and resourceful Victoria could find a way to flourish once she was out from under Victor’s shadow. Adam said maybe the entire family could reset, get out of the roles they’d been in for so long, and become something greater. “Maybe so,” Victor replied.

Jack spotted Diane at Society and went over to her table. He commented that she was in town for the duration. She said she was here as long as Kyle wanted her to be. She invited Jack to sit, and he did. He mused that Society was the best restaurant in town. Diane asked what happened to Gloria’s restaurant, and Jack said Gloworm mercifully burned to the ground. Diane didn’t think she and Jack needed to fill the air with small talk, when they had a son, grandson and history. Jack said most of their history was unpleasant, and they couldn’t walk down memory lane without smashing a boulder or two. Diane brought up how cute Harrison was. He reminded her of Kyle as a boy. Jack shared a story about Harrison’s kindness and generosity, and Diane said that was just like Kyle.

Jack entertained Diane with a story about Harrison trying to sneak a frog into the house in his pocket. Diane was charmed. She couldn’t wait for Harrison to get to know her. She remembered the early part of Kyle’s life so well. She knew it was because she wasn’t there for the later years. Now that she was back, she saw that Kyle inherited Jack’s sense of wonder. She saw it when Kyle played with Harrison, and she used to see it when Jack played with Kyle. She said Jack was built for fatherhood. Jack got joy in watching Kyle with Harrison. Diane said she, Jack and Kyle had fun by the pool, and Phyllis was always lurking making sure Diane didn’t hone in on her territory. Jack sighed.

Jack got up from the table. He thought Diane bringing up Phyllis proved it was a mistake for him to join her. He felt their history was too fraught to have a pleasant conversation. Diane was sorry. She didn’t realize bringing up Phyllis would upset Jack. He said bringing up that portion of their lives would set off emotional fireworks of all kinds. Diane apologized for who she’d been back then and for what she did. She was sorry she took Kyle away, costing Jack quality time during their son’s formative years. She was sorry she abandoned Kyle, making Jack have to raise him alone. She was sorry she wasn’t stronger and braver in how she handled things. Crying, Diane said she had so many regrets and so many amends to make, and Jack was at the top of the list. As she dabbed at her tears, he sat back down.

Jack picked up the check. Diane thanked Jack for that and for having lunch with her. She said she’d been spending a lot of time alone. He guessed it was pretty lonely. She said maybe, but it was honest. She hid her past in LA, and she couldn’t get close to anyone because of that. Here in Genoa City, she was dodging grenades and facing the damage she caused head-on. She said being here with him today, talking about Kyle and Harrison and being honest about her past almost made her feel normal and gave her hope for their future. She had him to thank for that.
