okay, sasha, I spoke with the crimson journalist who’s going to be interviewing you about the tone of the piece. Elyse happens to be a good friend of mine, and she’s very sympathetic to your situation. Not to mention, she loves a sob story with someone coming back from being down and out. Not that you’re a sob story. Nope. I am just a thief. No, you’re not that, either. You’ve just had a rough last couple of years. And in the interest of transparency, you want to tell your side of the story about what happened at logan’S. Right. I am coming forward on my own volition to take responsibility for my actions and to speak about my recent mental health issues. Um…maybe say “journey,” unless you think that’s too woo-woo? I like it. Okay, then maybe not. I’m gonna say this one last time — you do not have to do this interview. The story that broke was a blind piece about a model shoplifting. Nobody knows it was you. [ Keys jingling ] What are you doing? Hi. I-I’m glad you texted. Hi. I was already gearing up to ask you for some advice. Well, I’m always here for you. W-what’s going on? I’ve just been spending so much time at G.H. Waiting for updates about curtis, and on top of that, kristina just has to make everything so much harder than it needs to be. Um, well, mom stopped by last night, but I don’t know if what she told me is what you’re referring to. Oh, well, kristina has decided that she’s gonna be the surrogate for tj and my baby, and then she discusses it with you and mom without even bothering to tell us. [ Smooches ] Thanks for asking to meet you for breakfast, but I can’t stay long, um, because I-I-I got to go back to the hospital. Trina, I know it’s important for you to be there, but you got to eat, honey. Yeah, I know, I just… I feel guilty when I’m away from the hospital. I-I feel like I should support mom and…uh… curtis because it feels like he may never wake up. Come on, curtis. It’s time to wake up. We’ve all been here waiting for you. Trina is here, your dad, your aunt stella. Even your girl, nina.

[ Exhales sharply ] It’s a hard lesson learned. And I hate that you’re learning it at such a young age, but you need to understand you have a whole family that loves and supports you. You don’t have to go through this on your own. But I can’t help but feel like… in being here with you, I’m — I’m giving up on curtis. I’m sure that trina is enjoying breakfast with her…dad. I was just gonna wait for her here… unless you’d like me to leave, in which case, I can. No, no, no, I want you to stay because there’s something that I need to say. And I need you to hear what I’m about to say. When did mom come by last night? Was it before or after I saw her at G.H.? After, but I-I promise you, mom wasn’t trying to keep anything from you. In my experience dealing with these big shot types, you got to be patient ’cause it’s not easy ’cause they — they — everything has to be exact. And by “proactive,” you interpreted that to mean that you could comb through my documents? Well, I never would have done it, except, I mean, they’re all about me. Are you researching me? Is that why you hired me in the first place, so you could do some story? I’m gonna go get rid of cody. Gladys, no. He has every right to be here. But he’s clearly a distraction. [ Gasps ] Geez. Hi, cody. I swear I didn’t know you guys were here, okay? This is my day off. Yeah? Well, can you at least do us a favor and stay away from sasha? She needs some space. I promise I won’t bust in on your brunch by the pool. This is a little more than a brunch. Sasha is telling her side of the story about what happened at logan’S. I didn’t know the story came out. Elyse, um, aren’t you a bit early? Because maxie is supposed to be here for this. [ Chuckles ] Don’t mind sasha. She’s just a little out of practice. Just take care of sasha. Time after time, I have made allowances for kristina’s feelings that somehow, her younger sister overshadowed her. All — all of my achievements have made kristina feel less-than. So what did I do? Huh? What did I do? I apologized for not being sensitive enough or that I was too uptight to understand her path. But now, I’m — I’m wrestling with something difficult and painful and maybe even life-changing, except what — what is our family doing again? Right, we’re all tiptoeing around kristina’s feelings. Molly, I never really thought of it that way. Yeah, because none of us do. Because kristina has to make everything about her. Except this time, I’m the one with the health condition, not kristina. Yet, what are we all talking about, hmm? We’re all talking about kristina wanting to be the surrogate for me and tj. Molly. Molly, molly, molly. Stop. Look, I-I know you are upset, and I really want to be there for you, but maybe it’s not kristina that you have a problem with. In what world is kristina not my problem? Because you’re talking about a family dynamic that has obviously been bothering you for a really long time, so maybe your issue isn’t with kristina, and maybe it’s more with me and mom because we take you for granted and we spend more time focused on kristina. Any chance that that’s what’s making you so upset? She hinted that there’s something going on with you… “she hinted.” …It’s your story to tell, and that she doesn’t want to betray your confidence. Did she or did she not ask you to come and talk to me? Alexis suggested that we have a conversation. There’s no harm in that. No, of course. It’s just — it’s so obvious that no one trusts me to make decisions about my own life. This year has been so, so crazy, and I just don’t think I’ve been making enough time for you. Well, it’s kind of hard to make time for your dad when you’re being held hostage in greenland by some maniac. But ever since I got home, I-I just feel like all of my energy has been focused on figuring out my relationship with curtis, and I just feel like we haven’t been connecting the same way. Not since we got those dna test results back. It’s a fair statement. But we promised each other before we got those results that nothing was going to change between us, and I think we just need to be honest. We’re struggling with this, aren’t we? I know that trina has been here since curtis was shot. And I know that I should have been here to support her. I really do wish that I could have… visited more. Yes, I-I mean, I haven’t seen much of you. I wanted to respect trina’s boundaries. Not to mention your extremely complicated home life. You know, it was one thing for you to be living with esme while laura and kevin were supervising, but now that they’re gone looking for nikolas… it’s not just me and esme. And the only reason that I’m living there is so that I can help take care of my little brother ace. And that’s got to be a lot of responsibility. Oh, yes. More than I ever could have imagined. But I’m very lucky because trina has been incredibly patient and supportive of me. Yeah, that sounds like my daughter.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah? I mean, she’s always been one to see the best in anyone. That’s right. Even the people who don’t deserve it, like me. But I can promise you, dr. Robinson, that no matter what happens with my little brother, I could never hurt trina because she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Really? Yes, without a doubt. Well, then, can you answer me this? Can you honestly say that you’re the best thing that’s happened to trina?

I hope you know that. Yeah, well, you might be the only one. You got to help me out, okay? Because if — if this is not about the foundation, if this is some personal issue, I’m flying blind here. You got to give me some details and tell me what — what’s going on. It’s — let’s just say I… had an idea to make — make an offer to help molly. Help how? What do you mean? I can’t — I-I can’t say exactly, what do you mean? I just — I-it would have been a really big deal for both of us, and I told mom and sam about it the other night, but they completely shot me down. They said that molly wouldn’t want me to interfere and I didn’t think this through and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Did you know what you were getting into? No. But I would have figured it out. I mean, I would have. And that’s not even the problem. The problem is, molly found out what I wanted to do, and it turns out mom and sam were right because for whatever reason, me offering to help molly, that was the worst thing that i have ever done in my whole life. This isn’t about you and mom. It’s about kristina. From her warped perspective, all she has to do is offer to be my surrogate, and all my problems are solved. It’s like she’s saying, “oh, let me have a baby for you and tj, and everyone will congratulate me for being the savior to this poor, barren couple.” And then once again, kristina is the center of attention! No. You need to take a step back because that is not at all the way kristina presented her idea of being a surrogate for you and tj. She was just really focused on wanting the two of you to be parents. Was it an impulsive idea? Yeah, probably 100%, yes, but not for a second — I don’t — I don’t doubt that she had good intentions. You’re taking her side?! No, I am not taking her side! You’re both my sisters. I’m just trying to understand. But no way would kristina ever want to hurt you. She might not have wanted to hurt me, but she really did. Okay, but you weren’t there for the entire conversation, molly. By the end of that conversation, kristina had agreed to wait to see if you and tj wanted to decide to explore surrogacy or not. And if you didn’t want to do that, then kristina would have been totally fine with that. You don’t think it would have become something about me rejecting her, me not trusting her? Come on. I don’t know, molly. I-I can’t predict the future, but I’ve got to say, I am really surprised by your attitude right now. Oh, you’re surprised that I’m angry? No, I’m not surprised that you’re angry. It doesn’t make sense that you’re directing all your anger at kristina. Because having a kid isn’t a big deal to her! She doesn’t even want a kid! But I do, and I can’t have one. But she can. In what world is that fair? [ Sighs ] I’m sorry. I don’t have to explain anything to you, let alone why I choose to choose any document from the archives. And as much as your curiosity is piqued, it doesn’t give you the right to rummage through my office. Move! I cannot believe I’m having this conversation with you. I-I’m sorry. Please, I am begging you, do not publish that story. That’s not how I run a newspaper. But I thought you, of all people, would understand how I feel. Elyse! Hey, girl, so good to see you. As I’m sure sasha was just explaining, um, there were a few misunderstandings about what happened at logan’s that we all want to clear up. Uh, see, we recently adjusted the details in the loaning contract between logan’s and deception, and sasha’s been out for a while, so she wasn’t quite caught up. So actually, this whole thing is just some big non-story. [ Chuckling ] Sasha’s just a little confused, that’s all. Sasha just wasn’t clear on the terms of the agreement, that’s all. Makes sense to me. But, you know, I was really hoping that sasha would speak for herself. Not just about what happened at logan’s, but about how you’re coping with the return to the spotlight. Sasha, you have been through so much. Loss of your husband, the loss of your child, and you had a very public breakdown on the home & heart shopping channel. With all that pain, our readers really want to know, how do you keep going? I wouldn’t say we’re struggling. Okay, yeah. I’ve been holding back a bit. You know, I knew you had a lot going on. I didn’t want to be a burden. But you’re not a burden. When I was angry at mom for lying to me when I was trying to sift through my feelings with curtis, I just… I assumed that she would always be there for me. Because that’s the truth. There’s nothing you could say or do that would change how I feel about you. Besides, you know, it’s that time in your life where you’re going through that spending less time with your parents, it’s natural. You’re growing up, you’re finding your way in the world. Tough time for a parent, but, you know, even though we know it’s gonna happen eventually. But this is different with us. I’m not growing up, right? I’m — I’m — I’m trying to understand where I came from and who I am. Well… the person to help you do that is curtis. Honestly, I don’t know if I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to trina. You’d have to ask her. But I certainly know that I’m not the worst thing. Really? Because from what I recall, some of the worst moments that were in my daughter’s life, they all have one common denominator, and they all happened because of you. Where are you going?

[ Chuckles ] My daughter was arrested for creating revenge porn of her best friends, josslyn and cam. And who was the real guilty party? It was esme. Who brought esme to port charles? It was you. Trina was almost kicked out of pcu. She was put on trial, and if she was convicted, that would have haunted her for the rest of her life. I’m not disagreeing with anything that you’re saying. But trina and I, we’ve made a real effort to work past those things. Really? Y-you’ve worked past those things? Or has trina simply overlooked them? What about the fact of her following you on that boat and — and being trapped by your insane great uncle? And the only reason trina is alive is because curtis saved her, not you. Trina should probably run as far away from me as she possibly can. But what is so amazing is that she hasn’T. She’s chosen not to. Despite everything that has happened, your daughter has stood beside me. And I think that we’re good for each other. And I think that I make her happy. How can you even say that with a straight face? After everything that you’ve put my daughter through, you still chose to move in with esme, the person who caused my daughter all that pain, so no, spencer, no, absolutely not. I don’t think you make trina happy at all. Curtis is tough. He’s gonna pull through. I hope you’re right, because I don’t know what I’d do if I lost the chance to get to know him.

[ Sniffles ] Hey. None of that’s gonna happen now. Kristina knows that you’re having a hard time. Or maybe she doesn’t understand all the reasons why. Have you talked to her about it? Before we blew up? Hardly. I guess she’S… it just makes her uncomfortable, so she goes on and on about her foundation. Okay, well, you need to talk to her and just, like, be direct with her. No! Not — I’m not doing that! I am so tired of always being the bigger person. Kristina needs to figure this one out on her own. You know I love you, right? Yes, of course I do, dad. Okay. That’s not the issue, though. Yeah, well, I don’t seem to know what the issue is exactly, but here — here’s what I’m gonna say to you — go — go — you need to have a conversation with molly. I wish I could. I wish it were that simple. I wish we could just say “weapons down” and have a sister heart-to-heart. But that’s not gonna happen. I know the way they see me, dad. To molly and tj, it’s like doctor and lawyer versus the college dropout. That’s just the way it is. They think that I’m irresponsible and I’m self-serving and that I just fundamentally cannot be trusted. I don’t know. Maybe they’re right. Okay, you know what? You’re beating yourself up. I’m gonna go ahead and leave just because I don’t want to pile on — I don’t want you to pile on. That’s not what I’m asking. I just don’t know what to do! Well, you know what? You said it — it was an impulsive decision to help molly. You need to figure out why you’re so willing to help her. Because I wanted to help! There’s — there’s no other reason? What about the foundation? You said you — you, uh — you know, you wanted to make a difference in port charles, huh? Right? But then you wanted to be in charge of something. You said you wanted some flexibility, and then you wanted something creative. You see what I’m saying? It wasn’t totally self-sacrificing, but doesn’t mean that your heart wasn’t in the right place, so what you need to do is figure out why it’s so important to do that. And have a conversation. You know why? Because you two love each other. It’s too important, and I don’t want anything to come in between the two of you. I keep going because, um… because I have to. I have friends and family. They’re supportive, and they give me the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other. You know, it’s really important to have access to… what is cody still doing here? I thought you were gonna get rid of him. It’s a public place. Look at — he’s fine. Says you. I’m gonna go talk to him. Whatever.

[ Exhales sharply ] Poor thing. And weren’t you involved with that criminal cyrus renault for a time? Oh, elyse, that was the past. We’re focused on the present. I thought you said no holds barred. Esme is my brother’s mom. I don’t like living with her, either, but I’m kind of stuck with her right now. Yeah, you are. But does trina need to be? That girl tormented my daughter, and you’re living with her. Esm– esme is different — you’re right. It’S… it’s a complicated situation.

[ Scoffs ] Maybe it is, and maybe it isn’T. Look, I’m not gonna turn my back on my little brother. And I get that. But if you really care for trina the way that you say that you do and you are stuck with esme, wouldn’t you want to spare trina from having to continually see her? I mean, wouldn’t the selfless, mature thing to do be to just let trina go?

[ Footsteps approaching ] Oh, spencer, you’re here. Hi.

[ Monitor beeping ] Marshall: Curtis? Curtis? Can you hear me? Curtis? Curtis. Oh, spencer. I just had breakfast with my dad at kelly’S. I didn’t know you were coming by. It gave us a chance to chat. Portia, come quick! I think he’s waking up.

[ Gasps ] Oh! Look, all I am asking is for you to have a little heart. I mean, you’re — you’re a cassadine, right? So you know what it’s like to be judged by your relatives even though you’ve done nothing wrong, and I am just trying to explain — I’m gonna stop you right there. That comparison is not only inappropriate and false, it’s really irritating. I am a cassadine, and my family is very complicated, which is why I did the work to confront my past. I worked really hard to establish myself as my own person, apart from my family. So a cassadine doesn’t define me, nor — nor I them. But you… on the other hand, you claim that you don’t remember your past. I-I don’T. Which doesn’t mean that you don’t have one. You do. And you have done nothing to earn that clean slate, which is why I’m sure the stories about your biological mother and father frighten you. Esme, I have worked really hard to try to be civil to you. But I don’t trust you, and nor does anyone else. Now, if you want to change that, I suggest that you take a really good, long, hard look at yourself, your past, and face what you did. Because other than that, this box, that box… that’s the least of your problems. Gladys, just calm down. You’re making a scene. I know you want to be seen… but not like this. Maxie: Sasha, are you — are you okay? Yeah, yeah. I just thought I saw someone I knew. Okay, you know what, elyse? We’re gonna reschedule this interview. I think sasha’s had a little too much sun. My experience is not uncommon, and the stigma of mental health issues is still so… you haven’t spent any time with her, so quit acting like…

Whereas if you try to kill me in my own home, I’m 100% obviously the target. Right, but I like the idea of heightened security in here, because you never can be too careful. Yeah, I was worried about him, too, but then, charges were dropped. He’s in the clear. I’m, uh — I’m not so sure about that. Oh. Before the charges were dropped, spinelli and i tried to help cody prove that gladys wasn’t a victim. According to cody, she tried to set him up for another crime. Wait, was it you and spinelli? You guys are the ones that — that found the waiter that got cody exonerated? No, um — no, but I’m pretty sure I-I know who did it, and it is shady times a thousand. Oh. Well, who? Selina wu. Jackson montgomery. I never thought I’d hear your voice again. Well, me neither, but I must say, it’s a very pleasant surprise, anna. Listen, I did tell lucy that I knew you, but i in no way suggested we had any kind of personal or professional relationship. And there you have it. Well, lucy doesn’t really pay attention to the finer details. She’s more of a big-picture girl.

[ Laughs ] Yeah, so I’ve found out. But what’s going on with her? I mean, I know she runs a successful cosmetics company. So what is she doing here running a scam on me? And is felicia scorpio

really the wife of the port charles police commissioner? Yes, that last part is true, and she does work as a P.I. Ah, I see. Well, that explains that. What’s lucy’s excuse? Do you mind telling me the middle part again? Sure, lucy came in claiming she was recently widowed and, uh, felicia was her sister. Mac: You said

you were sisters? Yeah, felicia said we were sisters, and she even said our last name was “martin.” And then hummingbird cake got mentioned, and that sort of really blew my cover.

Hummingbird cake? Hummingbird cake? Yes, hummingbird cake, because the restaurant we went to happened to serve hummingbird cake, which is really odd, because most restaurants don’T. But he said, jackson said, “I don’t like hummingbird cake,” which made me really mad, because that’s martin’s

favorite food. And so then I said, “you would like hummingbird cake if you ever had the proper recipe.” But apparently he had had hummingbird cake, because he knew martin’s family recipe. Believe it or not, one of my most contentious divorce cases involved a recipe for hummingbird cake. The wife was my client, and she was threatening to divulge the recipe to little debbie’s for mass production. And I bet the husband in that case was martin grey, and he didn’t like that idea. Well, I’ll put it to you this way. The husband just hated the idea so much that I knew I could get sole custody for my client of the couple’s beach house in miami if I could just get her to sign an nda saying she’d never divulge the recipe. And martin’s mother guards that hummingbird cake recipe like it was gold in fort knox. And let me guess, once jack connected lucy to martin, it was all over. I’m sorry you couldn’t get through to your son earlier. Wow! You do always eavesdrop on private conversations. I-I couldn’t help but hear it. Y-you were both speaking very loudly. Yeah, well, not loud enough to get through to my son. You certainly did all you could. And what? I should just give up? Oh, gee, my son doesn’t remember his family. Maybe he will someday. What’s for dinner? You know, you really make conversations hard, don’t you? Because that’s not at all what I meant. Quartermaines don’t give up. Why would selina wu want to help cody? I-I don’t know. But do you know that the pcpd has been running surveillance at the savoy? Well, yeah, I know, but how do you know? I ran into mac earlier, and mac knows about selina’s high-stake illegal poker game in the back room. Okay, well, that explains it then. If there is a poker game, cody’s gonna sniff it out. I mean, that’s what happened to him last year when he got beat up. He was supposed to take the bus out of town. He missed his bus, and that was because of a poker game. Okay, well, do you think it was selina’s? He didn’t say whose game it was, but it could very well have been selina’s game. See? I told you this was shady. I don’t like it. I think it’s pretty highly likely that it was selina’s guys that beat up cody when he first came into town, so it’s troubling to think that cody is more connected to her now. Ohh, cody bell, what are you up to now, man? I would like to apologize for my friends. I am so, so sorry that you got caught in the middle of all of this, but at the end of the day, you know, was there any real harm done? Anna, did you not hear me say that felicia was going through my confidential client files? Okay, let me throw that name out there again — martin grey. She wasn’t going through any other files, was she? Well, not that I can tell, but who the hell knows what she saw? Well, I can vouch for my friend. If she was there with lucy, she was only looking at martin’s files. Yeah, okay. I’m — I’m gonna need a little bit more. Like, what’s the interest in martin grey? Well… lucy’s dating him. I mean, I look upon this as a lover’s quarrel. You could see for yourself that they’re not really criminal masterminds. Could you see your way to… dropping the charges? Jackson, I would be forever in your debt, without a doubt. Um, see, jack knows the officer that is arresting us, and he convinced him to check with his office before he took us to be booked. They have 10 limbs — 8 arms and 2 tentacles. The biggest squid is 60 feet and the biggest octopus is only about 30 feet. Wow. I always thought that octopi were bigger. Mama q, leo’s got this. I was so happy when you walked through that door. Does this mean you’re still talking to me? You mean after I figured out that tracy was pulling strings with the ccrb? Yeah. So my kiss goodbye didn’t convince you? No, I was so happy when you kissed me. Oh, my gosh. It went such a long way. I just — I was worried that after you left and thought about it, maybe… no. Look, I know that I’m a by-the-book guy, and maybe that sounds good on paper, but in real life, I need to learn to be more accepting that life is complicated and it’s messy, and that is okay. No, brook lynn, what you did was gutsy and it was brave and it was pretty magnificent. A plan that complicated and messy wouldn’t have occurred to me in a million years, and that is why I think our differences make us such a good team. And that’s what I’m trying to say, brook lynn. I don’t want you to feel like I am constantly judging you. Because I love you, brook lynn, exactly the way that you are. I love you, too, mr. By-the-book. You have no right to judge me. You don’t even know me. Isn’t it infuriating when someone just inserts themselves into your private conversations and starts doling out advice? I’m not giving out advice. I mean, normally you got to have results in three, four weeks if you want to keep something like that going. Well, I think mac doesn’t want cody to get arrested before he takes down selina’s illegal poker game. So mac’s trying to protect cody. As much as he can. Hmm. Mac said it was because he loved dominique and cody is her son, but I think there’s more to it. I think that mac was disappointed when the paternity test came back and it revealed that mac was not cody’s dad. Did you know the brown-throated three-toed sloth naps up to 16 hours a day and its arms are twice as long as its legs? I did not know that. You sure do know a lot. I know all animals and I love them all, even though cody likes horses best. Hey, I do love my horses, but I like other animals, too. Just not beetles. Ugh. No, never beetles. Never.

[ Laughs ] My mom likes feeding me.

I think that mac wants to give cody a heads up, but since he can’t interfere in his own investigation, he tipped me off to his surveillance of selina. So he wants you to try to get cody to stop playing in selina’s poker games.

[ Sighs ] So should I do what mac can’t? Do I warn cody before he gets arrested?

Ryan’s bar is where my mother, delia, works. I have no idea how mason could have found her. She gave me up… for adoption. I mean, there aren’t even any public records tying us together. I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you were so passionate about it. I’m sorry. Uh, no, no. I’m — I’m not. Um, no. It’s just my, um, my aunt charlene. Uh, she loves, loves hummingbird cake. In fact, she has her favorite secret recipe she loves. Oh, well, I am sure I would love, love your aunt charlene’S. You would. It’s amazing. I mean — wait. Listen. It has toasted almonds, and then she takes the nutmeg that enhances kind of the cinnamon… mmm. …And then this kind of tahitian vanilla. I don’t know what it does, but it brings out tropical flavors. And then the very best part. My favorite part is when she puts in — bourbon. Bourbon.

[ Chuckles softly ] How did you know? I really appreciate your offer of help. I-I really do. Well, good. Then say yes. No. You keep pointing out how dangerous this is. Right. Yeah. So the best chance you have of staying safe is — is for us to work together. You have a family. This isn’t just about physical safety. I saw how hard it was for you to overcome your ptsd and that you really struggled with that for a long time. And I don’t think I could live with myself if I felt responsible for you going through anything like that again. Okay? Well, I appreciate that, anna. I do. But, uh… I’m a grown man. And I take responsibility for all my choices. And, yeah, I went through hell and back with everything and — and the ptsd. And there were some days where I didn’t think I was gonna make it, but I did. And everything I went through then and since then… …has shown me how strong I am and what I’m capable of. And I’d be betraying the man I’ve become if I let you put yourself in harm’s way and I didn’t help you.

I know you don’t trust pilar at the moment. And, you know, I’m not thrilled with pilar right now. You know, she lost avery, and I can’t stop you from hiring who you want to hire to look after avery. But whoever you hire, I need to approve who’s in my daughter’s life. Everything okay? Yeah. Yeah. Well, that’s up to ava. Ava: Of course everything’s okay. Yes. Yes. Because seeing my uncle laying there, not knowing if he’d ever walk again, that… that was horrible.

[ Monitors beeping ] Trina: Mom? Yes, sweetheart? Could curtis still die? Well, from what dr. Barnsdall said, his condition… it’s still precarious. But we have faith in him. We all do. There are several factors that contradict the idea that this would be a wsb-sanctioned hit, foremost being it was unsuccessful. Yeah, but come on, you know, even the best-laid plans, they can go awry when you’re out in the field. Anything can happen. Yeah.

No, I know, but the problem with that is, I didn’t ask. I’d apologize, but I don’t apologize for putting a person on you to keep you safe. I apologize because the person I put on you got caught. Next person I put on you, you know what? He’s gonna be invisible and silent. You should send a ninja.So that — so that way I don’t have to apologize for keeping you safe. Okay. Well, that’s a shame, ’cause you could certainly use the practice. Okay. On a different note, I talked to nina. Curtis made it out of surgery. He gonna be okay? It’s touch and go, but he’s alive. There’s nothing more important than that at this point. Here’s what concerns me. The shooter — who was he targeting? Happy you brought that up because I got a question for you. Do I need an attorney? No. But can you think of any reason why the wsb would want you dead? Great. So now you’re mad at me, too? What’d I do? Nothing — yet. What do you mean “yet”? Why are you acting like this? I just — I know you, kristina, and you’re never gonna let it go. Okay. Uh, molls, I’m gonna need a translator for this conversation. I overheard you at the savoy telling sam and mom that you could give T.J. What I can’T. What? Ew. And that doesn’t even sound like me. Did you forget the part that I heard you? You know that I have no interest in T.J. No, I know that. Okay. So then what the hell are we talking about here? You want to give T.J. A baby since I can’T.

[ Monitors beeping ] Curtis. I’m here. I’m right here with you. Your dad, trina, aunt stella, they’re right outside, too. And T.J., He’s on his way with molly. Nina was here earlier. If she doesn’t make it back today, she’ll be here tomorrow. You’re surrounded by so many people who — who love you so much. Your family loves you. And we’re right here. We’re waiting. We’re waiting for you to come back to us. I can’t believe I ran out that room like a scared little girl. Why? I’m supposed to be stronger than that.

[ Scoffs ] Trina, the reason you ran out of that room like a scared little girl was because, at that moment, that’s what you were. There’s no shame in that. There isn’t? None at all. A man who you just recently learned was your father was lying in front of you, hooked up to machines, looking like the life was drained out of him. If that didn’t upset you down to your soul, I’d think something was wrong with you. And that’s why we keep your great aunt stella around, for her pep talks.

[ Chuckles ] Listen, we’ve all been here the better part of yesterday and today, praying for curtis while all the while scared out of our minds. Everybody’s nerves are fried. And curtis is the last person who would want you beating up on yourself. You can wait until he wakes up and talk to him then. Fortunately, deception has a professional relationship with logan’s, which gave maxie the clout to get them to drop the charges. Well, sasha insists that it was just a misunderstanding.

[ Scoffs ] Even if deception had such an arrangement with logan’s, which we don’t, what would make her think she could just take anything she wanted and walk out without telling anybody? It doesn’t make sense. Mnh-mnh. It doesn’T. And why would logan’s leave the security tags on if they knew sasha was taking the clothes? Well, did sasha set off the alarms? She did, but she just showed them a receipt for the clothes she did pay for, so they thought it was just a glitch. Look, here’s the thing, gladys. I don’t think sasha is lying. Well, that’s what worries me.

[ Sasha laughs ] What if she’s getting confused again? What if she’s losing touch with reality?

I don’t see any reason why I’d be on the wsb’s radar. I mean, why? Well… it’s looking more and more likely that I was the intended target, not you. Why would you say that? The gun that was used is property of the wsb. You think maybe the bureau thinks you know too much and they’re trying to silence you? I mean, look, I don’t rule that out, but I can tell you both that if they wanted to get rid of me, they could just take me out like that. So efficiently. No one would be any the wiser. But shooting at me in a public pool like that, ignoring the possibility for collateral damage… like curtis. Right. It’s just too high profile for a bureau assassination. Then who else? Making headline news the way that I have recently internationally, because of my past as a double agent, that gives any number of people a motive to want me dead. How do we narrow down the suspects? Even though we know about the illegal poker games, we don’t have enough to make the charges stick, especially for someone as slippery as selina wu. And that’s the official reason. At least it’s legit. Also, if we’re gonna catch a crime boss like selina wu, it has to be for something a hell of a lot bigger than a casino racket. Okay. That makes sense. But still… still. Cody’s involvement has given me cause to hesitate. He may not be my son, but he is dominique’S. And I want to do right by him. Even though he’s in way over his head? Especially then. Sam, cody’s been doing pretty much whatever he wants his whole life. You know, he’s used to doing whatever it takes to survive. Whether it’s legal or not. Look, I’m not judging. I’m just saying I get it. I’ve been there. I think cody has a good heart. Okay. I don’t know. I’ve known him for a little bit, and I think cody has a well-paved road to hell. He’s not doing himself any favors, especially with what happened with that bracelet at the nurses’ ball. I mean, something was off about that. Do you think he stole the bracelet? I think cody is smart enough not to put an expensive bracelet in his coat pocket, so no. No. Me neither. But I do think selina helped cody get the charges dropped. What makes you say that? [ Sighs ] But seriously, though, today could have been an even bigger disaster. After many, many public meltdowns and humiliations, the face of deception gets locked up for shoplifting?

[ Laughs ] Throw away the keys. To the cell and the straitjacket. Oh, even I have to admit, it wasn’t that bad. I’m just so grateful to chase for bringing me in the back way to the station so the photographers and the reporters wouldn’t see me.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh, god. Did I talk too soon? No, no, no! This has nothing to do with you. It’s just ava. I was — I was supposed to meet her, but I’m going to cancel. No, no. Crisis averted. Well, you know that sasha is seeing a psychiatrist as part of this process for dissolving the guardianship, right? Right. So dr. Montague has to report to the court his professional opinion of her mental health. And as her legal guardian, is it my responsibility to let the court know she was caught shoplifting? Wait. Are you talking about me being your surrogate? First, I plan a night out. Then you spend the whole night talking about your shelter and your foundation. You said you didn’t want to talk about babies. So you automatically just talk about yourself? Well, you were off-limits. And, yes, I was talking about myself. I was talking about myself because I’m actually doing something that I’m very proud of for the first time in my life. Is that a problem? No, the problem is that you’re making my fertility issues all about you. How?! Because if you insinuate yourself as our surrogate, T.J. And I having a baby becomes all about you and your pregnancy. Well, here’s a shocker for you. I wasn’t thinking about myself. I was thinking about my little sister and how upset she was and how I could help. Molly, I was willing to give up a year of my life and give birth so that you could have a baby. And I’m selfish? I don’t know if you remember what happened, but in case you do, I want you to know that everybody else is okay. I know that you worry about everybody else before yourself. And I love that about you.

[ Chuckles ] I love your bravery and…your big heart. But you got to look out for yourself, too. Your family, they need you. You know? I need you. And I don’t want to live in a world without curtis ashford.

We don’t need to talkabout this right now, okay? We’re all upset about curtis, so… you’re right. We are all upset about curtis. And now I’m upset because you and T.J. Think that I am making all of your problems about me when all I’m trying to do is help you have a baby. I was going to offer this to you sooner, but mom and sam helped me realize it was too soon. I’ve been waiting — oh, you needed mom and sam to figure this out? Yes, I did. Because I’m just your dumb, self-centered, narcissistic sister. You know what? You — you and T.J. Are right to think that I shouldn’t be your surrogate because god forbid your child end up anything like me when you are this perfect — I could hear you two all the way down the hall. What’s going on? Nothing. We’re fine, T.J. We’re good here. Molly was just educating me on why I am not good enough to be your surrogate. Kristina — not now, mom. What happened? Are you out of your mind? You want to tell the court about this? No, of course I don’t want to. The question is, should I? No! For her own good. [ Door opens ] Sasha: Oh, god. What now? Oh, don’t panic. These are for me. I ran into the delivery person in the hall. And you need to leave. She needs to rest. Actually, I’ve gotten my second wind, but thanks. Um, I really should get going. I got a horse to groom and a stable to clean.

[ Chuckles ] Remember what I said. I will. Okay. Here’s what I need you to remember. Whatever he said to you, you cannot count on cody bell. He will only get you into trouble. Why would selina wu lift a finger to help cody? Uh… at this point, the less said, the better, commissioner. You’re probably right. You’re a really good guy to worry about cody. But I’m worried that it’s too late for us to save him from himself. I think I’m gonna go check on trina. Just taking a minute to herself, stella. Let her be. Well, it’s been a long minute. Oh. Hey, stella. Stella, I got you. I got you. You all right? Come on. Come on. Is it your heart again? Look, I-I’m fine. And I’ll be even better once curtis wakes up. Stella, we’re in a hospital. [ Sighs ] You feeling better, baby? A little. I always say there’s nothing makes you feel better than a splash of water on your face. So, my mom is still in there. Yes. Yeah. I know you’re worried, but it’s normal for patients not to wake up so soon after surgery, especially one as difficult as curtis’. Thanks. I know. But until he wakes up, we won’t know how much damage the bullet did. He could be paralyzed. You know I hate this, not being able to — to do anything. But I’ll just stay right here, right by your side.

[ Breathes deeply ] I hate that I stayed away from you after I found out that you kissed jordan. Because we made a commitment, and I-I-I let my pride get in the way. But not anymore. Because, honey, I love you. I love you so much. And my harsh words, they can’t be the last thing that you hear me say. Okay? So open your eyes for me so I can tell you how much I love you. Please. Just so we’re clear, I’m not completely ready to rule you out as a target here. You got to keep your eyes open. You know me. I don’t drop my guard. Okay. Dante: Anna, any way we can get any of the records from the ops you did with dvx? Anything the wsb has that could give us a lead? I doubt any of it’s been declassified, even after the leak, but we don’t need it. Because I remember everyone. I remember the name of every person that was ever compromised by my actions. Great. Let’s find out where they are and what they’re doing. That’s gonna take too long. I mean, this person has proved that they have little to no regard for human life, that they’re willing to sacrifice any innocent bystander, probably knowing that I would blame myself for that. I’m not about to allow anyone else to get hurt because of me. Anna, what’s the plan? I think we lure my enemy out into the open… using me as bait.
