Update written by Joseph

Abe walks through the town square with flowers and runs in to Paulina. She calls the flowers beautiful. Abe says they are for a friend but assures he’s not seeing anyone else. Abe congratulates Paulina on the election. Paulina points out that she never would’ve won if Abe hadn’t appointed her in the first place. Paulina would like the chance to thank him properly. Abe asks what she has in mind.

Sloan then tells Eric that she went to see Melinda and there’s something he needs to know. Eric asks what it is.

EJ hugs Nicole in the hospital as she asks why God keeps allowing this to happen. EJ says he doesn’t have the answers she’s looking for, but promises they will face this challenge together and come out stronger. Stefan storms in and calls EJ a son of a bitch, demanding he drop the bogus murder charges against Gabi now.

In the interrogation room, Ava answers the call from Clyde in prison. Ava asks what he wants and says he shouldn’t be calling her here. Clyde says he hears she’s been naughty and went out to commit herself a murder. Clyde asks what they are going to do about it.

Eric asks Sloan what happened with Melinda and if it’s bad news. Sloan says it’s actually great news and the best news. Sloan then announces that tomorrow, they are getting their baby. Eric is surprised it’s so soon. Sloan declares it’s a holiday miracle as they will have the baby in their arms tomorrow morning. Eric remembers it’s Thanksgiving. Sloan adds that they have a lot to be thankful for as she kisses Eric.

EJ asks what the hell is wrong with Stefan and tells him to have compassion for his grieving wife. Stefan asks where EJ’s compassion was for his wife and says that she’s rotting away in prison because of him.

Ava claims not to know what Clyde is talking about. Clyde says that he heard she put a bullet in Gil, but warns that it won’t get her out of their pact. Ava complains that being sexually assaulted wasn’t a part of their pact and says Gil tried to rape her. Clyde asks if she wasn’t just playing hard to get. Ava calls him disgusting. Clyde threatens to have another one of his boys visit Tripp. Ava argues that she held up her end of the bargain. Clyde points out that she didn’t get the evidence room keys from Harris, so they still have a problem.

Paulina informs Abe that she’s hoping Thanksgiving dinner at her place tomorrow with Chanel and Johnny, so she would love for Abe to join them. Abe calls it a tempting offer. Paulina says there will be a seat at the head of the table for him. Abe agrees to talk to Steve and Kayla, who said he’s welcome to have Thanksgiving dinner with them. Paulina tells Abe that’s fine if he prefers that and to just let her know which Abe agrees to do. Paulina says she’s off to buy some groceries. Abe says he’ll be in touch and congratulates Paulina again on her victory as mayor, calling it very well deserved. Abe then walks away.

EJ apologizes to Nicole for having to witness that. Nicole says it’s fine. Stefan tells Nicole that he shouldn’t have come charging in like that and he apologizes. Stefan adds that he’s truly sorry for her loss. Nicole thanks him. Stefan realizes that they are both suffering now and sadly, there’s nothing anybody can do to stop that. Stefan points out that EJ does have the power to stop his wife’s suffering. EJ questions going back to that. Nicole tells EJ to just go outside and talk to Stefan. EJ asks if she’s sure. Nicole says she needs to be alone for a little while anyway. EJ promises he won’t be long and steps out with Stefan.

Wendy works at the police station as Harris arrives and greets her. Harris thought she was going to take some time off. Wendy says she thought about it but decided that she’d rather be at work than grieving in the apartment where her brother was brutally murdered. Harris understands and says he’s sorry for her loss which she appreciates. Harris guesses that she doesn’t know about Ava. Wendy asks what about her. Harris informs her that Ava’s new boss Gil Carter attacked her at their apartment and tried to sexually assault her but she fought him off. Wendy asks if Ava is okay. Harris says that she will be but Ava shot him in self defense, so Gil is dead and Ava is now in custody. Wendy immediately calls Tripp but it goes straight to voicemail. Wendy decides that she will go find Tripp at the hospital. Harris calls that a good idea because Ava will need all the support she can get as Wendy exits the station.

Ava asks how Clyde knows she didn’t get the keys. Clyde reminds her of what it’s like to be a boss and talks about being three steps ahead. Clyde says he sent Gil to make sure that she got the keys for them, not for things to get rough and kinky between them. Ava tells him to go to Hell. Clyde complains that she cost him one of his best lieutenants and he won’t be easy to replace. Clyde adds that he might be able to forgive her if she does what he needs her to do. Clyde warns Ava to either get the keys or Tripp is going to pay the price. Ava questions how the hell he expects her to do that as Harris returns to the room and asks if everything is okay.

Sloan tells Eric that she can tell something is worrying him and asks if it’s about baby proofing the house. Eric says of course not so Sloan asks what’s wrong since they should be excited about bringing home their baby tomorrow. Eric assures that he is excited, but he can’t stop thinking about Nicole losing her child. Sloan agrees that’s awful. Eric apologizes as he knows it’s difficult for her when he brings up Nicole’s name. Sloan knows they haven’t been the best of friends, but knowing what it feels like to be a mother, her heart really does go out for her and EJ. Sloan states that they are about to be parents now and Eric is going to be a father like he’s wanted his whole life, so they shouldn’t focus on anything else but that their dreams are coming true, not Nicole’s nightmare.

Abe goes to visit Nicole in the hospital and brings her the flowers, saying he had to come see her.

Wendy finds Tripp at the hospital. Tripp thought she was at work. Wendy says she found out something he needed to know. Tripp asks if it’s about Li. Wendy says it’s about Tripp’s mom and reveals that she’s in police custody.

Ava tells Clyde that she has to go. Clyde asks if he heard Harris come in to the room which she confirms. Clyde says they are good for now then, but warns that they will be conversing again soon and that she better get those keys because her son’s life depends on it. Harris asks if she’s okay and who was on the phone. Ava claims that she called a criminal defense lawyer, who was asking for a crazy fee and got testy when she tried to negotiate. Harris hopes she won’t need a lawyer because he will do everything he can to make sure Rafe and everyone else knows that she killed Gil in self defense. Ava appreciates him more than he knows as she doesn’t think she’s ever had anyone stand up for her like he does. Ava feels like she just complicated his life more. Harris says it’s alright as he just wants her to be okay.

EJ and Stefan go to the park. EJ tells him to get this over with so he can get back to his wife. Stefan understands they are grappling with the loss of their baby and he’s sorry as that’s terrible. Stefan thinks he should focus on that instead of his grudge against he and Gabi. EJ jokes that Stefano always said he was good at multi-tasking. Stefan calls him a child as they argue. EJ argues that Gabi’s fingerprints were on the murder weapon and Li named her as his killer while Stefan insists that she’s being setup, probably by him. EJ declares that he’s done with this conversation and warns him to stay away from he and Nicole or he’ll have hospital security throw him out. Stefan stops EJ and says he’s not done yet until he hears his offer. Stefan tells EJ that he’ll give him what he really wants, his old job back. Stefan says all he has to do is say the word and he’ll call an emergency shareholders meeting to reinstall EJ as co-CEO in the morning. EJ asks what if he asks Stefan to step aside to make him sole CEO. Stefan says if that’s what it takes to get Gabi home, fine. Stefan admits he thought they could outmaneuver EJ but they were wrong and he won. Stefan tells EJ that he can take Stefano’s empire and his shares, he doesn’t care as long as Gabi walks. EJ gets a text that Ava has been brought in to the police station for killing a man. Stefan asks what he’s talking about. EJ responds that he’s gotten bored with the constant struggle over running DiMera and he’s come to realize there’s more important things than stock prices and reports, like making Salem safer for their children by putting away hardened criminals like Ava and Gabi. Stefan calls him a sick bastard. EJ asks if they are done yet. Stefan remarks that he’d say karma would come back and bite him in the ass, but it looks like it already has if he asks his wife. Stefan then walks away.

Nicole thanks Abe for the flowers. Abe says he’s so sorry about her baby. Nicole asks who told him. Abe informs her that it was his son Brandon, who is also Nicole’s half-brother. Nicole admits Brandon has been calling nonstop but she hasn’t had the strength to answer. Abe adds that Brandon wanted him to tell her how much he loves her and that he’s there if she needs him. Nicole is glad he sent Abe. Abe brings up that Nicole told him once that they used to be very close and that he was like a father to her. Nicole says he used to call her his bonus daughter as he was always there for her in the worst times of her life. Nicole is sure Abe doesn’t remember but says she does and that it’s so comforting having him here. Abe asks where else would a father be at a time like this.

Sloan apologizes to Eric for sounding so selfish. Eric says it’s alright and that she’s right. Eric says as sorry as they both are for EJ and Nicole, they can’t let their sorrow ruin their joy. Eric assures that he’s really happy. Sloan thinks she knows something that can help them focus on their joy and suggests thinking of a name for their baby. Sloan asks if Eric has any thoughts. Eric admits he’s been thinking about a couple of names and hopes that she likes them too. Eric asks what she thinks about Samuel. Sloan questions naming their son after his sister Sami.

Wendy informs Tripp that according to Harris, Gil tried to rape Ava and she shot him in self defense. Tripp says he has to get down there, so he exits with Wendy.

Harris takes Ava out of the interrogation room and says he’s hoping to get the case thrown out, but until then he has to do everything by the book, so he has to take her official statement.

Eric asks Sloan what’s wrong with naming their child after his sister. Sloan remarks that word around town is that his sister is kind of a hot mess. Eric says that she’s earned her reputation but she’s the most kind and loyal person he knows. Sloan brings up Eric telling her before that Sami and Nicole didn’t get along, so she asks if Sami didn’t approve of Nicole. Eric says that it goes way deeper than that. Sloan asks how deep, so Eric reveals that Nicole did the worst thing you can do to a mother and stole Sami’s baby which shocks Sloan.

Nicole tells Abe that when she was told her son died, it was like someone flattened her heart. Nicole says she and EJ had big plans and dreams for their son. Nicole tells Abe that she used to be a terrible person, who lied, cheated, and hurt people, so she wonders if this is karma and she wasn’t supposed to bring a child in to this world. Abe stops her and calls it just a horrific tragedy, but not a punishment. Abe encourages that she has a good heart and she’s not alone as she has her friends and family which includes him. Nicole hugs Abe as she cries and thanks him.

Ava gives her statement, telling Harris that Gil was out of control and violent, so she truly believed that she had no choice but to shoot him. Wendy and Tripp arrive at the station. Tripp hugs Ava as she thanks Wendy for bringing him. Wendy says she’s glad she is safe. Harris says he’ll let them talk and go talk to Rafe in his office about the charges. Ava guesses Tripp was told what happened. Tripp asks if Gil hurt her. Ava says he tried. Tripp remarks that he’s lucky he’s dead or he’d kill him, himself. Ava tells him not to talk like that, especially in the police station. Ava insists that he doesn’t have to worry as she is fine. Ava warns that Tripp is the one that needs to be careful, because he’s a doctor with a brilliant mind and future, so she needs him to stay out of this. Tripp says not until he knows she is safe and free. Tripp decides he will hire her the best lawyer in town and makes a call. Ava looks over at the desk and sees Harris left his keys behind.

Stefan goes to prison and meets Clyde. Stefan says he was on his way to see Gabi when one of Clyde’s flunkies said he wanted to speak with him. Stefan tells him to talk quick, repeating that he came to see his wife. Clyde comments on always being in a rush. Stefan asks what he wants. Clyde says they have so much in common these days, pointing out that Gabi is right on the other side. Clyde remarks that he thinks it’s a damn shame what EJ is doing to Gabi. Clyde questions how EJ got to be district attorney anyway, saying it seems like yesterday that they were partners in a lucrative drug operation. Stefan says he doesn’t have time to go down memory lane with him. Clyde comments that it’s touching to see how much he loves Gabi and that it would be such a shame if something happened to her on the inside. Stefan asks if he just threatened his wife. Clyde says he’s just speaking the truth about what a dangerous place prison can be. Clyde adds that he would be willing to offer Gabi his protective services, if he got something in return.

Abe and Paulina run in to each other again in the town square. Abe admits that he hoped he would catch her coming out of the store and that he came looking for her. Abe explains that he was visiting his friend at the hospital and stopped by to see Kayla, so it turns out that Kayla is working for Thanksgiving and Steve is out of town on a case with John. Paulina jokes that she’s his only option then. Abe decides he would love to spend the holiday with her and Chanel. Paulina assures that the offer still stands and asks Abe to help her carry the groceries to her car.

Sloan questions Eric about Nicole switching EJ and Sami’s daughter with the baby she planned to adopt. Eric confirms that she did and that baby died but by that time, she had already grown to love her. Sloan questions Nicole continuing to raise Sami’s daughter as her own. Eric says they did until learning the truth. Sloan questions how Eric could forgive Nicole for what she did to his own sister. Eric responds that he believes in forgiveness, saying he needs it himself. Eric knows Sami has done terrible things in her time which Sloan asks about. Eric says back in the 90s, there wasn’t a DNA test in his family that Sami didn’t tamper with. Sloan questions Eric forgiving Nicole because Sami did bad things too. Eric acknowledges that Nicole was desperate to be a mother and still suffering from the loss of her child. Eric remarks that sometimes, desperate people do desperate things.

Tripp finishes a call and tells Ava that Belle refused to take her case. Ava is not surprised since Susan is part of her extended family. Tripp says it’s fine since Belle isn’t the only solid lawyer in town. Tripp then calls Justin. Ava then grabs the keys off the desk. Harris returns and announces that he spoke to Rafe about the whole situation, so he doesn’t see any reason to have to book Ava tonight and she is free to go home. Ava hugs him and thanks him while holding the stolen keys in her hand.

EJ returns to Nicole in the hospital. Nicole tells him about Abe visiting and how it was nice to see him. EJ says even with Abe’s memory loss, he can still tell what a special person she is and the connection they have. Nicole asks how it went with Stefan. EJ says he begged him to drop the charges against Gabi. Nicole asks if Gabi is guilty. EJ says all the evidence points to her. EJ adds that Stefan also offered to make him CEO of DiMera again, but he refused. EJ imagines Stefan is relaying the bad news to Gabi now.

Stefan questions if Clyde wants to be paid to protect Gabi. Clyde explains that he suffered a significant loss recently and needs another man on the outside. Stefan refuses to be his henchman. Clyde says he has it all wrong and he wouldn’t insult him by asking him to be his lackey. Clyde suggests Stefan become his partner and he’ll make sure nobody comes close to laying a finger on Gabi. Stefan questions the exchange. Clyde thinks it’s time for the DiMeras to get back in the drug running game.

Abby: Can I say something?

Devon: Please.

Abby: As a Newman and an Abbott, I mean, I know a thing or two about this. My family communicates in business memos and hostile takeovers. I know that you are strong enough to not be manipulated by anyone and if mamie wants to use her leverage in the company to reunite you with your cousin, I mean, it’s really not anything to be afraid of.

************************************

Victor: I’m sorry, my darling.

Nikki: That announcement was not at all what I was hoping you would say.

Adam: Dad, I– I really admire that you’re facing what we all have noticed.

Victor: Is that why you tried to trick me into seeing a doctor? To be evaluated without my consent?

Adam: No. Okay, I wasn’t happy about it, you can trust me on that, but you just said that you were in denial. Would you have co-operated if I was upfront with you?

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: I guess… I’ve been faking this whole damn thing, you know? Because I was afraid of what was happening to me. I apologize.

Nick: No apologies, dad. I was wondering if that’s what was happening. Obviously, I hoped it wasn’t, but the thought did occur to me.

Victoria: Yes, daddy. And when Nicholas told me, I was wondering the same thing. What needs to be done? How do we handle this?

Victoria: If I had had the chance to explain that to Nate, I think he would would have understood, but he won’t return any of my calls. He won’t answer any of my texts.

Nick: Sorry, Vic.

Victoria: Are you being sarcastic right now?

Nick: No, I’m definitely not sorry that Nate is gone from Newman enterprises. I do think he was setting in motion to get dad out of the company. But I am sorry that you’re hurting.

Victoria: Thank you. So, do you believe that Nate was being self-serving about this plan that he had for dad?

*******************************************

Victoria: Do you know when you first told me that dad was faking his illness to set a trap? I couldn’t believe it.

Nick: That he’d do something like that? Come on. You know better than that.

Victoria: No, not that– that he would think I was a threat or somebody that would be disloyal to him in that way.

Nick: Somebody like Adam?

Victoria: That is not a club I want to join anytime soon.

Nick: Which I said to dad like a dozen times, but he just kept referring back to how angry you were when you got demoted that he had stepped back in as CEO.

Danny: It’s, uh– it’s nice.

Nate: I’m fired?

Victor: You’re damn right.

Victoria: For what?

Nick: Dad–

Victor: You had it all planned, Nate, didn’t you, hm? Send me to some looney bin surrounded by doctors who didn’t give a damn about my health, just to keep me away from here, right?

Nate: Victor, if you believe that’s true, then, we still have a problem.

Victor: I have all the proof right here. I talked to the head of that looney bin. He gave me a full report.

Nate: Victor, I was protecting your privacy. Of course, I had to arrange things in advance. There needed to be ndas, precautions.

Victor: You are lying now and you were lying then.

Mamie: Unbelievable.

Lily: What’s that, aunt mamie?

Mamie: A day set aside for giving thanks. And I’ve never been more grateful in my whole life. I mean, I’m here with my family, together, the way we should be.

Devon: Mm-hmm. It is kind of unbelievable, isn’t it?

Lily: Kind of?

Nate: And speaking of grateful, I hope you all know how much it means to me to be included. Cheers.

Mamie: Cheers.

Devon: Cheers.

Abby: Hi. Happy thanksgiving, my friend.

Lauren: To you too. Well, you look about as stressed as I am. What’s going on?

Abby: Oh, you know, just the usual restful thanksgiving. Leaving here, devon and I are having drinks with lily and daniel and nate and mamie. Then, we were supposed to go to the newman ranch, but my dad called me and said they had to go out of town unexpectedly. Something to do with nikki. I have no idea what. Which leaves us more time for more turkey with the abbott family. And then, I am heading home and having dessert with just devon and dominic.

Lauren: Wow. It sounds like you need to rack up some frequent flyer miles just for that dinner. And thank goodness this only comes once a year, right?

Abby: Yes.

Lauren: It’ll take a weekend or two to recover and then we’ll be as good as new.

Abby: Please, god.

Lauren: Yes. And thank you so much in the midst of all of your chaos to come to the rescue of the baldwin-fisher thanksgiving catastrophe.

Abby: Got you.

Lauren: Yeah, you’re the best.

[ Both laughing ]

Tucker: Yay.

Audra: Thank you.

Tucker: Is this a ball or what? Huh?

Audra: Eh.

Tucker: I got one question about thanksgiving for you.

Audra: Mm. What is it?

Tucker: Why thursday? What’s the deal with that? They just– the pilgrims were just booked for the weekend, said, “you know what? Let’s just do it thursday. Get it over with.

Audra: You know, I have no idea, but you bring up some valid points.

Tucker: And what’s with the hats? And the shoes with the big buckles on them?

Audra: You know, you said one question. You’ve asked about a dozen.

Tucker: I’m sorry, go ahead.

Audra: Kyle’s role in bringing down jabot from the inside. How do you see that playing out?

Tucker: No, no, no. I don’t want to talk business on thanksgiving. You can do better than that.

Audra: Okay. I’ll try. What do you have in mind?

Tucker: Kyle abbott.

Audra: Excuse me? But didn’t I just?

Tucker: No, no, no. Not kyle abbott and jabot. Kyle abbott and you.

Audra: Okay.

Tucker: You always claim that it’s just fun and meaningless recreational sex, but I know you too well. You can sell that to yourself, but you can’t sell it to me. I think there’s something more going on. What?

Jack: Chelsea.

Chelsea: Hi.

Jack: Can I get you a drink?

Chelsea: I would love one. Oh, but nonalcoholic ’cause I’m driving.

Jack: Follow me, I have just the thing. I am so glad you are back in genoa city. I think billy is too. He missed you a lot.

Chelsea: Well, I missed him. I missed all of you. It’s so good to be home.

Jack: And connor’s doing well, I understand?

Chelsea: He’s doing great. Thank you for asking. He’s happy, jack, and he’s making friends, playing soccer and he’s loving school.

Jack: Well, when you see anita and connor later, please tell them we all said hello. I am so sorry you won’t be at our dining table, but we understand you want to spend thanksgiving with your mother and your son.

Chelsea: Well, thank you for understanding and I will send them your best.

Jack: Enjoy.

Ashley: Happy thanksgiving.

Jack: You all right, buddy.

Billy: Thank you very much.

Ashley: Hi. How are you?

Billy: Cheers.

Jack: So, you’ve made your decision?

Ashley: Well, I haven’t changed my mind.

Jack: A whole room full of people eager to have thanksgiving with you and you’re gonna leave.

Traci: Ooh, hi. Happy thanksgiving everyone. I’m so sorry I’m late. Everything took a lot longer than I thought.

Billy: We have an abbott family tradition. We take turns getting specialty desserts because uh, there’s a few of us that don’t like the uh, traditional ones that mrs. Martinez makes.

Chelsea: Like what?

Billy: Hm. Well, for instance, harrison, he doesn’t like pecans. He finds them disgusting.

Jack: Yeah. And?

Billy: I hate pumpkin pie.

Traci: It is–

Billy: I hate pumpkin pie.

Traci: A travesty, frankly.

Chelsea: And I am only hearing this now?

Billy: I know, I apologize.

Traci: I know. Chelsea, it’s a lot to process, honey. Listen, if you need to talk, you just call me.

Diane: Chelsea, I know that you’re having dinner with your son and, um, your mom, but please stay for some appetizers.

Chelsea: Well, thank you, diane. They look delicious.

Billy: I’m almost afraid to ask, but is adam joining you?

Chelsea: No. I had a conversation with connor and I explained that adam and anita don’t particularly get along and connor didn’t want to put ’em through that, so they’re going to spend some quality time together this weekend.

Billy: Well, good for connor. That’s very mature of him.

Jack: It absolutely is. Understanding the importance of avoiding conflict on a family holiday that’s about love and unity is not only mature, it is wise.

Ashley: Have I ever complimented you on your subtlety, jack?

Jack: No, I don’t think you have.

Ashley: There’s a reason for that.

[ All chuckling ]

Jack: That’s not that funny.

Audra: You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’re a little jealous I have any connection to kyle abbott.

Tucker: Protective. You are, after all, an essential participant in my plans for jabot.

Audra: Fine. Have it your way. We can call it protective.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. If I didn’t know better, I would say I heard a twinge of disappointment in your voice just now.

Audra: Ah, don’t read too much into it. You know bourbon makes me nostalgic.

Tucker: You know, I’ve been thinking. In some alternate universe, you and I would have– we would have been a perfect match. Unfortunately, in this one, despite everything we’ve been through emotionally and– and personally and professionally, I think maybe we’re just too– we’re just too alike to have a shot at being more than what we already are.

Audra: You really believe that?

Tucker: Absolutely, audra. What’s not to fall in love with? You’re brilliant and talented. And look at you, you’re stunningly beautiful. Hey. I think I am a little jealous. I just think in some other world, we would have been a couple for the ages. You’re never gonna get anything approaching that with kyle abbott. And I think you deserve it.

Lauren: You are such a lifesaver, abby. Letting us use society for our family dinner. I mean, leave it to gloria to show up from singapore with michael unannounced. No phone call. No heads up, no nothing and she expects a thanksgiving dinner. Homemade, right?

Abby: Well, it is gloria. What do you expect? At least she didn’t show up with a whole entourage.

Kevin: That is exactly right, abby. Leave it to gloria to change everybody’s– hi. Holiday plans at the drop of a hat. That thai food and football we were looking forward to, forget it. Instead, we’re having a family reunion nobody wanted.

Abby: Well, hello, kevin and chloe. How are you?

Chloe: Oh, festive. Look, we all have to endure this, so just put on a smile and pretend like you want to be here, like the rest of the adults.

Kevin: You know I don’t like surprises.

Lauren: Oh, come on. You want to see your brother and your mother.

Kevin: Michael, of course, for sure, but gloria? After she has been in and out of prison for the past six months fighting even more potential jail time? It is anybody’s guess what her demeanor is going to be, but I think we can all rule out stoic.

Michael: Come on. Come on. Come on. Hey guys! Ah, kevin! Look at you all. Ah, sister, one. My love. Love, abby. Thank you for making this happen for us today.

Abby: Of course.

Gloria: Hola. Over here. I haven’t slept in months, but I am putting one foot in front of the other because that’s how much you mean to me.

[ Chuckling ] Grandbabies. Where are my grandbabies?

Chloe: They are home with my mother, gloria.

Kevin: We’re gonna see them later for dessert.

Gloria: Oh, yay. Thank god for that because I haven’t seen them in such a long time and my life is not complete without them. They are the air that I breathe, the blood that flows through my veins. They are my legacy. They are my reason.

[ Gloria muttering ]

[ Gloria snoring ]

Kevin: Honestly, I thought it would be worse.

Devon: So, hey, aunt mamie. Since we’re all together like this as a family, I think it might be a great opportunity for you to share with us what tucker’s real intentions are.

Lily: And not the intention he’s trying to sell us all.

Devon: Yeah, because that changes depending on who he’s talking to. Remember that nate coming back to chancellor-winters depends on this information.

Mamie: And I have every intention of telling you whatever it is that I know, but not today. Today is not about business plots. Today is about family, gratitude, us loving each other.

Daniel: Well, you know, I don’t know the man like you all do, but I’d be willing to bet that even tucker mccall isn’t gonna be making any big moves on thanksgiving day.

Nate: Listen, whatever tucker is or isn’t up to, I have to say it again. The fact that you’re even considering letting me return to chancellor-winters after everything that went down, it means a lot to me. And I won’t let you down.

Mamie: You’re darn right that you won’T. Because you’re our blood and we won’t allow it.

Abby: Well, it is so good to see all of you. Michael, gloria, I’m glad that you’re home and I’m glad that you kept her out of prison. Just so you know, the chef prepared everything. It’s all in warming trays in the kitchen, but I did give my waitstaff the day off, so you’ll have to serve yourselves the wine and the dinner.

Gloria: Hey, hey, hey. No, waitstaff? Let me tell you, when I owned glow, there was–

Michael: Oh, your employees must be very grateful and I’m pretty sure that we can manage. Thank you so much.

Abby: Well, um, I hope you have a beautiful thanksgiving, and thank you for making society a part of your celebration.

Kevin: Thank you, abby.

All: Bye.

Lauren: How amazing is she that she put this whole family dinner together with no notice?

Gloria: I guess so. But after eating nothing but prison food for all these months, a warm, home-cooked thanksgiving dinner would have been so nice. Is that too much to ask?

Lauren: Frankly, yes.

Kevin: Chloe, why don’t we have a look in the back and see how our food is coming along?

Chloe: Genius.

Kevin: Thank you.

Lauren: You know, if you had your heart set on a home-cooked meal, it would have been great if you had given me some sort of heads up that you are on your way to genoa city, instead of just showing up on my doorstep.

Michael: To be fair, that wasn’t all gloria’s fault.

Lauren: Oh, how so?

Michael: I sent you several texts and they never went through. Every call I tried to make went dead. I mean, what should we have done? Stayed in singapore?

[ Gloria snoring ]

Ashley: I’m gonna split the difference, okay? I’m gonna go to the club, hopefully have a drink with tucker and devon and then I’ll be back here in time for dinner.

Jack: I guess that’s the best I can hope for. Though I can’t help feeling you’re wasting your time.

Ashley: Well, I guess it’s a good thing it’s my time and not yours.

Jack: I know you’re trying to bring out tucker’s humanity.

Ashley: We’ve been over this, jack. Yes, I want to help mend the rift between tucker and devon. And hopefully, that’ll show tucker that there’s no point in attacking jabot. I don’t know. Maybe.

Jack: There is no decency in that man. There is no civility left.

Ashley: I guess we’ll find out. Okay, I will see you all at dinner.

Billy: All right. Bye.

Ashley: Chelsea, don’t miss me too much.

Chelsea: Hurry back.

[ Indistinct chatter ]

Audra: So, what you’re saying is that I deserve someone like you, just not you.

Tucker: It’s complicated.

Audra: Enlighten me.

[ Tucker sighing ]

Tucker: Oh, brother.

Audra: What is it?

Tucker: See for yourself.

Audra: Wow. I didn’t see that coming. Clearly, you didn’t either. You’re not answering?

Tucker: Nope. I don’t trust that invitation any more than I trust ashley. You heard kyle’s recording of her conversation with jack? There’s nothing vague about that. She’s setting me up.

Audra: Mm. It sounded to me like she’s trying to turn you into a human being. And if she is setting you up, so what? You know, cat and mouse, you love the game. You miss it. And I think you’re holding out hope she does too.

Tucker: What’s your point?

Audra: My point is you can love and hate someone at the same time. Which you should know better than anyone since I think that’s exactly how you’re feeling about ashley. You love her every bit as much as you hate her right now. If it’s a lost cause, then tell her no. Exactly.

Billy: There you go.

Jack: Thank you.

Billy: You’re welcome.

Diane: Hey. Are you okay?

Kyle: I’m okay. Why?

Diane: Ah, you just seem a little preoccupied.

Kyle: Yeah, I guess I am.

Diane: Is it– is it because harrison is spending the day with summer?

Kyle: No. No, not at all. They were both excited about it and I got to spend time with harrison in the park this morning.

Diane: Then, let me guess. It’s about your involvement with audra for this plan of yours? Kyle, I have to tell you, I’m a little worried too.

Kyle: Did I say I was worried about it? I’m not. And you shouldn’t be either. I’ve got this and I’ll be using her way more than she would ever use me. You can take my word for it.

Tucker: You want me to say no to ashley? I don’t think so.

Audra: Then, I rest my case.

Tucker: You don’t have a case. Think about it. This is a golden opportunity for me to find out how far she’s willing to take this thing. No, really. I’d be a fool not to respond. In fact, I think I’ll do just that. Sure. Meet me in the jazz lounge.

Audra: You just did the exact opposite of what I proposed.

Tucker: That shouldn’t surprise you. Oh and for the record, don’t pretend to have more insight into me than I do.

Audra: Except I do, tucker.

Tucker: How do you figure?

Audra: Well, you know, that other life, alternative universe thing? You say that I know your heart there, but I know it here too. And to be brutally honest with you, I think you’re gonna end up blowing this whole plan of yours right out of the water because you can’t get ashley out of your head.

Chloe: Okay everyone, we can do better than this. It’s thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for. We are at our favorite restaurant. We have it all to ourselves. Michael and gloria are home safe and sound from halfway across the world. We are healthy.

Gloria: If you don’t count jet-lagged, malnourished or sleep deprived.

Chloe: Let’s make the most of it, shall we? Michael, kevin, how about you pour us some wine? And lauren, why don’t you help me in the kitchen?

Kevin: Great idea. Mikey?

Michael: Yes.

Gloria: Chloe, you just did that a few minutes ago.

Chloe: Yeah. It’s a very elaborate dinner. It just needs extra attention. I promise you are going to love every bit of it.

Lauren: Oh, well, then there’s no place I’d rather be.

Kevin: It is so good to see you, mikey. I really missed you.

Michael: I really missed you too. It feels like it’s been forever.

Kevin: So, how was your trip?

[ Gloria sighing ]

Michael: You can’t even imagine.

Kevin: You two were gone so long, chloe and I were starting to think you and mom were relocating to singapore.

Gloria: Oh, dear god. Perish the thought. All the while I was away, all I could think about was getting home to my family. It’s the only thing that kept me alive, angel.

Michael: All of which could have been easily avoided if you had managed to stay out of trouble for once in your life.

Gloria: Oh, sure, like it’s all my fault.

Lauren: Well, I think we’d all love to know what happened in singapore and why it took michael so damn long to exonerate you.

[ Gloria sighing ]

Devon: So, mamie. Listen, I think that it’s fantastic that you’re trying to bring the family together like this. I think it’s a great goal to have, but I’m sure that you understand that it hurts a lot more when you get betrayed by your own family than anybody else. Which is why this has been so difficult for us to get past.

Mamie: And I understand that, devon. It looks to me like all of you are inching your way back towards each other, towards family. And for now, that’s good enough for me. It’s a start. To progress. Hm? Look, I’m a realist enough to realize that not every family is so united.

Abby: And if you don’t believe her, you could head over to society and hang out with the baldwins and the fishers.

Mamie: Yeah. You know, I spent many years in the abbott house. I know how close they are. Now, that’s the strength of their bond. Their family business has thrived because of the– oh, you know what? I said I wasn’t gonna talk about business today. All I care about today is my belief in the core of my soul that our family is headed for something truly magnificent.

Lily: Well, then maybe you can tell us how tucker plays into all of that. Because I think we deserve to know.

Mamie: Well, all righty then. Since you’re all sitting here staring at me. No. This has nothing to do with tucker grabbing chancellor-winters for himself. This is all about you, devon.

Devon: All about me? What does that mean?

Mamie: Your future. His legacy for his grandson.

Devon: And that’s all this is about? That’s it?

Mamie: Tucker just never believed that jill had any rights to own katherine’s company. He believes that you are the true chancellor heir.

Devon: Okay. So then what? His plan is to push jill out of the company? Okay. Uh, I think we should probably warn jill.

Lily: Well, I mean, jill is already expecting this. Mamie hasn’t told us anything we don’t already know.

Devon: Yeah, that’s very true. Mamie, do you think you can share with us any specifics on what tucker’s plan is to overthrow jill?

Chelsea: He’s good.

Jack: Fantastic.

Billy: So jack told me that you rethought your potential future at jabot and that you have decided to come back in the coo position?

Kyle: Yes, I have.

Billy: That’s exciting. What changed your mind?

Kyle: Does it matter?

Billy: No. I guess it– I guess it doesn’t matter as long as you’re being sincere.

Kyle: What? You question my motives, billy? Relax. You have nothing to worry about.

Billy: Believe me, kyle. I’m not worried about it. But I am protective.

Kyle: Of what?

Billy: The company. Family. Jack.

Kyle: What, you think you need to protect my father from me?

Billy: I didn’t say that.

Chelsea: Hey, billy. Um, I have to go meet my mom and connor.

Billy: Yes, of course. Excuse us.

Ashley: What a surprise. Look at how cozy you two are. Happy thanksgiving.

Tucker: You’re surprised to see us here? I don’t see why. We’re– we’re trendsetters. We always have been. We decided that turkey and mashed potatoes and family gatherings are passé and if you’re hip, what you’re doing is drinking whiskey and eating cheeseburgers at a hotel bar on thanksgiving. Right? Probably a little too avant-garde for you though, ashley.

Audra: Well, uh, you have clearly a lot to talk about, so if you’ll excuse me. Tucker, thank you so much for dinner. Ashley, uh, happy thanksgiving to you as well.

Ashley: Thank you so much.

Tucker: Speaking of surprises, I didn’t expect to hear from you today of all days.

Ashley: Yeah. Today of all days.

Tucker: I would expect you to be gathered around the sacred abbott dinner table, laughing and enjoying mrs. Martinez’s sweet potatoes and arguing over who gets the wishbone and…

Ashley: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I’m gonna be home in plenty of time for all the festivities.

Tucker: So, what are you doing here?

Ashley: Well, you know, I started thinking about you and how are you gonna be all alone on thanksgiving. Yeah. Um, made me kind of sad for you and also, you know, devon, so I thought today would be a great day to start trying to bridge the gap. I’ve never been healthier.

Shingles doesn’t care.

But shingrix protects.

Proven over 90% effective,

Tucker: Ashley, don’t waste a minute of your time pretending to feel bad for me. I’ve been through calamities worse than the one you and I went through. And here I am. Please, can we leave devon out of it? I still don’t trust your motives when it comes to helping us reconcile.

Ashley: Okay. I know that you’re in a lot of pain, even though you act like such a tough guy. And I know the pain keeps piling on.

Tucker: Devon?

Ashley: Among other things.

Tucker: Hm.

Ashley: I texted devon and I asked him to join us here. You know, to try to make peace.

Tucker: Did you? Wow. How presumptuous. But you don’t actually expect him to show up any more than I do. So, what is the real reason you’re here? What do you want?

Ashley: That’s the real reason. Although, you know what? I have a proposition for you.

Tucker: Ah.

Gloria: For your information, lauren, I have been yearning to reunite with my family for months now. I am not going to contaminate this occasion by recounting the most unspeakable nightmare I’ve been through.

Michael: That’s a bit overstated, but I agree. There’s no point in dredging it up.

Gloria: Thank you.

Kevin: Um, I’m sorry, mikey, but I disagree. Our mother did something that landed her in a singapore jail and now she’s trying to shrug it off with a wave and a simple, “I hate when that happens.”

Gloria: Honey, it was just a simple case of mistaken identity.

[ Michael laughing ]

Michael: Well, that was the defense. But come on, gloria. Now that it’s all out in the open, let’s stop pretending, shall we? There was no case of mistaken identity. Per usual, you were as guilty as hell of the crime you were charged with.

Chloe: Guilty as hell of what?

Kevin: You know, we’re not gonna let up until you tell us, so you may as well get it over with.

[ Gloria sighing ]

Gloria: I think all of you are very cruel, asking me to relive the most horrible experience of my life. You don’t seem to comprehend the pain that this unfortunate incident caused me. Don’t you realize it is a miracle that I am alive?

Michael: Oh, good god, woman. You are really gonna milk this for all it’s worth. As if you kidnapped the prime minister’s children or committed a capital crime.

Gloria: My persecution was almost that bad.

Michael: Oh, enough! That’s enough! Let’s get our dinner, sit down, give thanks and then we will clear up this mystery once and for all. And if you don’t tell them, I will.

Chloe: Mangia.

Lauren: Let’s go.

Kevin: Having fun?

Chloe: Oh, merci.

[ Gloria sighing ]

[Deep exhale]

Lauren: So even though this was a shotgun thanksgiving, it brought us together, especially michael. No offense, gloria, but my husband has been gone way too long and I couldn’t be happier that he’s home where he belongs. We have quite the most interesting family, but we have each other. And that’s what I’m grateful for. Okay, your turn.

Kevin: Well, uh, michael, lauren, and chloe pretty much covered it all, but uh, I will just add that I am so– so grateful for our happy and healthy children. I’m thankful for my own health so I can enjoy and appreciate every single moment with them. And oddly, I’m thankful for this moment. Right now with my beautiful, happy and healthy family. Okay, gloria, you’re up.

[ Gloria chuckling ]

Gloria: Well, of course, I’m happy and grateful for my beautiful family too. Of course. But I am most especially grateful for michael. My brilliant son who saved me from a fate of unspeakable suffering.

[ Michael chuckling ]

Michael: For god’s sakes. You have drained this table of all the sympathy that you were ever going to get out of it. Or you’ve tried to. Just tell them.

Gloria: Oh, all right. Fine. If it will help you get on with your life. I had an affair with a diplomat. And then one beautiful, sunny fateful day, his wife showed up unexpectedly and caught us together.

Chloe: Uh-oh.

Lauren: That’s not good.

Kevin: How dare she?

Gloria: And she was one of those drama queens.

Kevin: Oh, one of those.

Gloria: Oh, yes. And then she had this completely over-the-top meltdown. Hurling insults at me. Unwarranted, all of them, of course. And then, she threw me out like a common trollop.

Michael: But wait, ladies and gentlemen, there’s more. Mother?

Gloria: All right. I went into the closet to retrieve my clothes. And yes, I happened to take one, two, three pairs of her designer shoes and this divine silk cocktail dress on my way out.

Kevin: You did what?

Lauren: You took the woman’s clothes?

Chloe: Despicable.

Gloria: Well, after everything I’d been through, I thought I deserved them. And the worst part, the husband’s the one who pressed charges. I mean, imagine the gall.

Lauren: And you got her off on a mistaken identity defense? What?

Michael: Yes. I am that good.

Chloe: Well…

Michael: Hear, hear.

[ Michael laughing ]

Ashley: You know that company that we acquired as a foundation for simply ashley?

Tucker: Oh, uh, glacade?

Ashley: Glacade.

Tucker: Yeah. What about it?

Ashley: Well, you know, it’s solid as a rock. Has a lot of potential. Why don’t you take it? Like just pick up right where we left off. And then you can just go forward in a positive, productive, fantastic direction.

Tucker: While you do what?

Ashley: Absolutely nothing. Yeah. You know, consider it a, uh, a gesture of goodwill because I reneged on our business partnership. And then maybe, uh, for the sake of our children and our grandchild, we can have some kind of peace and tranquility. And then, you know, it’ll make it easier for everybody. What do you think?

Tucker: Yeah. That’s okay. Deal.

Ashley: Yeah. Great. Sure.

Mamie: Tucker and I came into this with two common goals. Mine was to get back with my family and tucker’s was to get rid of jill so that he could clear a path for devon and lily. I’m for both of those goals, aren’t you? Ask yourself this. Would it really be so bad if jill didn’t have equal control of chancellor-winters anymore? Have you ever thought about what it would be like to not have to run every decision past her? To be able to own your company without outside interference? Have you ever secretly wondered what that might feel like? Hm?

[ Jack sighing ]

Traci: Jack, it’s long past time to eat and we’re all starving.

Jack: Yeah. I’m starving too. I was just trying to figure out whether to wait for ashley.

Traci: Okay. Um, let’s– let’s think that through together, shall we? We all know where ashley went and we all know who she’s with. So, do you want to let our thanksgiving hinge on what may or may not happen between ashley and tucker?

Jack: You ever get tired of being the voice of reason around here?

Traci: It’s a dirty job, but you know.

Jack: Can I have everyone’s attention, please? Um, dinner will be served momentarily. I just wanted to say a couple of words. I have so much to be grateful for in my own personal life. I married the woman of my dreams this year and it has brought a richness, a level of meaning and joy that has changed who I am as a man. As far as the family goes, I probably don’t have to say this has been a challenging year for the abbotts, on several fronts. More than once, I think it looked like we were going to, well shatter, splinter. But in the end, we got through it. Why? Because as strong as we all are as individuals, we all know from life that we are decidedly stronger together. Strong enough to handle anything that life throws us. We have so much to be grateful for and so much to look forward to. Yes, there will be challenges. Yes, there will be setbacks, but we will grow and learn and thrive as long as we face those challenges together. Happy thanksgiving.

All: Happy thanksgiving.

Traci: Hear, hear.

Announcer: Next time on the young and the restless…

Nikki: You did this to me.

Jordan: No, nikki newman. You did this to yourself.

Victor: I’m through playing games with you.

Jordan: This is no game. This is as serious as a heart attack. Which is what you will all be experiencing very soon thanks to the poison that you just drank in your water bottles. You don’t have long to live. And it’s going to be my utmost pleasure to stand here and watch you die.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Knock on door ]

[ Knocks on door ] Hi, alexis. Can I bother you for a minute? Oh, you noticed this? It’s a little hard not to. When did you start using that? It’s been by my side for a couple days now. Dr. Kramer says I’ll need it until, uh… till you may need a wheelchair. Yes, until the inevitable presents itself. Actually, I feel kind of secure with it because dr. Kramer says it may keep me from damaging myself if I fall. Guess I should say

when I fall. Well, I’m in favor of keeping you on your feet as long as possible. This from the woman who always keeps me on my toes.

[ Chuckles ] You just come here to show off that cool cane, or can I do something for you? You need to help my son. Hey, hey. There’s my friend. Hi. It’s so great to see you out and about. Oh. Come on. I got you some tea. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. You know, I’ve been to the club. I’ve been to the gym a few times, and I figured whether I’m in this chair or not, life goes on. I mean, what am i going to do? Can’t sit at home every day, right? Well, that is a great attitude. And I owe you an apology because I should’ve been in touch much sooner. But I was so happy you wanted to meet. Well, you may not be so happy after you hear what I have to say. Nina, I have a pretty big ask. I just had to come by and thank you for sorting out those building permits for me. I knew I could count on baby sister. Well, you’re welcome, but let’s be perfectly clear about something. Everything was above board. It wasn’t a family favor. I simply presented it to the committee for a vote, and zoning approved it. Well, however it came about, I just appreciate the fact you did it so quickly, and so does my client. Is it — and, no, it’s not valentin cass– I do have other, less controversial clients, you know. It just so happens that mr. —

[ Laughs ] No, seriously, mr. Phelps is one of the biggest real-estate developers in all of port charles, and now he is thrilled with my work. You made your brother look good, and I’m grateful. Speaking of brothers, what are we going to do about ours? So, what do we got? The cause of death was catastrophic internal bleeding and blunt-force trauma. There were injuries to his neck, vertebrae, fractured jaw, and extensive damage to the skull. There was bleeding on the brain, as well as a hemopericardium and a cardiac tamponade. In english, please. Hemorrhaging around the heart. So what could cause that? Like, a fall or an attack? Now, the injuries were consistent with a pedestrian being hit at a high rate of speed by a large vehicle. Must’ve been a truck or an suv. Was the deceased impaired in any way? Mm, well, the preliminary autopsy indicates no contributing factors. There was no alcohol in his system, and he wasn’t under the influence of drugs. What about medical conditions? Well, body showed no signs of suffering from any maladies or terminal illness. There wasn’t any indication in the preliminary blood work that he was on medication for depression. So I can’t think of a reason a relatively healthy man would step in front of a speeding vehicle. Maybe the vehicle was aiming for him. No, no. Go away. Shh. Shh. Shh. You’re not supposed to be here. Charlotte, listen to me. I just want to talk. I need to explain what happened. No. No. Please let me. Please. No. No. No. According to csi, there were no tire tracks or skid marks, so if he was hit by a car, there is nothing to indicate the driver swerved or tried to brake. What about traffic cameras? Unfortunately, it was a rural stretch, not covered by cameras. Well, have them canvass the area. There’s got to be a building or gas station somewhere with a camera. They’re already on it. Oh, but there was something interesting. Get this. The guy had three ids on him. Have you checked them out? Yeah, and they’re all legit. There’s nothing to explain. I-I know what happened. You shot me. Oh, god. It was a horrible accident. How was it an accident? You pointed the gun right at me. I didn’t know it was you. I didn’t expect to find you in my apartment, but I now understand why you were there. You wanted to do something to scare me, right, to drive me away, but you need to know that nothing that victor told you is true. Nothing.

[ Breathing heavily ] Hey, elizabeth. How’s charlotte doing? Hi. She’s making excellent progress, which is encouraging. Help! Somebody help! Please! Papa. Papa.

[ Breathing heavily ] Anything that you want, you just name it. I’m not sure you’ll feel that way after I explain. What I’m asking requires that we ignore the instructions of the pcpd. Now I’m completely confused. What’s going on? The shooting that happened months ago, and the pcpd is no closer to finding out who shot me. They still don’t have any leads? Nothing credible. The case has completely stalled. It’s only a matter of time before they box up my evidence and ship it to some warehouse for cold cases. No, you can’t let that happen. No, I can’T. I’m not. I’m gonna find out who did this to me, who put me in this wheelchair and see that they’re brought to justice. Yeah. Well, I don’t understand where I come in. I’m starting my own investigation, and since the shooting happened at your hotel, I was hoping that you would give me complete access. You know, one wonders if you couldn’t use your position as mayor — just sort of banish cyrus from the kingdom of port charles?

[ Laughs ] What, did you watch “robin hood” last night? The original. It’s a classic. Oh, well, uh, yeah, this isn’t sherwood forest. Yeah, and, uh, I think even if I could banish cyrus, I’m not sure I would do that. Come on, now. You’re a highly intelligent woman. You actually expect me to believe you think he’s been reformed? I wouldn’t go that far. I’ve been suspicious of this born-again persona ever since the beginning. He could be giving the performance of a lifetime. He could be playing all of us. Uh-huh. I did tell you he had me give away “all” his money to end recidivism, which is another thing I’m suspicious about, because the cyrus I grew up with didn’t have an altruistic bone in his body. And yet a judge signed off on his release. Doesn’t mean anything. Cyrus used to line his pockets with important people. Judge could’ve been on his payroll, expecting some kind of a kickback. Yeah, well, the bottom line is cyrus is free, and he is our brother, so I don’t know. Don’t we have some kind of a responsibility here to at least acknowledge him as a sibling, try to see the best in him and, you know, support him in his effort to try to become a productive member of society. Well, for the life of me, I can’t come up with one thing he could contribute to port charles. But I do have to admit, part of me wants to believe him, which is saying a lot, considering his track record. Look at all the damage he’s done.

[ Knock on door ] Come in. Hi, laura. I’m sorry to interrupt, but I need to discuss something with you. She can’t represent finn because she’s representing the plaintiff. The muldoon family hired her? Yes. I met finn at the metro court as diane was leaving. He seemed dejected, and when I pressed him, he said she couldn’t take the case. Uh, no, no. That doesn’t make any sense. No. Well, it seems that she got a phone call just before the meeting from the father-in-law of the deceased, who also happens to be a long-term client of hers.

[ Sighs ] She’s already on retainer with the muldoon family? Oh, this is a disaster. I’m sorry. There’s no reason for you to apologize. It’s not all that dire. Diane explained she couldn’t represent him and left with no hard feelings. No. No, no, no, no. You don’t understand. Diane is the disaster. She is that good. She never loses. So, uh… …you’re back at work?

[ Chuckles ] How’s it feel to be back at work after — you know, you were gone for a few months, right? You know, I was so fragile when I finally got out of ferncliff, and I was worried that it was going to be awkward to be back at deception, but it’s going really well. We did this amazing photo shoot, and I just finished a segment on “home & heart.” Is that the show where they sell stuff?

[ Laughing ] Yes. I reintroduced our most popular product, the deceptor. What is that? Nina will know what it is. Anyway, it sold out in record time. That’s great. Dang.

[ Sighs ] I was so relieved. I really need the company to do well. We lost so much money when our stock was frozen during the lawsuit. You know, that’s what I want to talk to you about. Um… I want to have a discussion with you about your financial situation.

[Coughing] This is the master key card that’ll give you access to all the areas around the pool and the hotel room that the sniper was in, as well. Is there anyone staying in the room now? No, no. The pcpd requested that we keep that room vacant for a while. They didn’t even want housekeeping in there. I think they were planning on doing another sweep of the room so they could maybe get additional evidence, so we thought we should comply. So, no, it’s not occupied. This is good. It’s not enough.

[ Clears throat ] Can you get me security footage of the day of the shooting? Maybe even a few days prior? Well, I don’t know, I’m not sure about that, because the police officers, they were all over our computer system. That was the first thing they went to, and they came in with a warrant. But — but… …you

know, the originalfootage could be accessible by the metro court mainframe. Hmm. And, you know, your boy’s pretty tech savvy.

[ Chuckles ] I know my way around a server. Nina, can I use your password to log in? We were just, uh, discussing the very delicate subject of our brother, cyrus, and what, if anything, to do about him. Well, I know he’s your family, so it’s not my place to say. But there’s nothing to be done about cyrus for now. All signs show he’s behaving. And, well, we all know it’s just a matter of time before he breaks the law again, and you and martin won’t have to make any decisions about him. The courts will make it for you. Yes, I’m afraid you’re right. So I guess it’s just a matter of time, then, isn’t it? Yeah. Well, you didn’t come here to listen to our family problems. What can I do for you? Ah, yeah, uh, I need you to look into something, but it has to be off the record. I’m aware of diane’s reputation, but she isn’t clarence darrow. You know what her nickname is? It’s “killer miller.” You know why? ‘Cause she goes for the jugular. Not only is she ridiculously prepared in court, she can improvise, so she can think on her feet. I guess you’re not overreacting. The hardest cases I’ve ever tried have been the ones against diane. We once had this case where she was representing a client who was accused of a felony, and I was representing the — the plaintiff. I was so on this case. I had two dozen depositions. I had vetted witnesses like crazy. It was an irrefutable case. It was a slam dunk. And you know what happened? Diane won. She was victorious. So you don’t think finn has a chance to win this? Look at this case. You have a loving family that lost a husband and a father to an arrogant doctor who was negligent. Wait. My son isn’t arrogant, and he certainly is not negligent. Okay, maybe “arrogant” is too strong of a word, but sometimes finn is not that personable. He comes off overly confident, and diane is going to convince a jury of that. So are you saying finn is doomed? Not yet. I’ve got to make a call. Keep her away. She wants to kill me. I don’T. It didn’t work the first time, so she’s back. Please. I don’t, sweetheart. It’s okay. I’m here. I’m here. You need to leave — now. You’re safe. No one’s going to hurt you.

[ Crying ] Anna, I was very clear. You’re not allowed anywhere near charlotte’s room. I needed to explain what happened. I just — I want her to know that I-I never meant to harm her. I didn’t want to. Yeah, well, you’ve done just the opposite. Csi said he had three valid pieces of id on him — one U.S., One canadian, and one from the united kingdom. What, were they aliases or are all the same name? All the same name, which makes it even more confusing. Yeah, especially because you can’t be a resident of three different countries. Csi’s on their way to his hotel room. He was staying at the metropolitan, registered under the canadian id. Alright, run his dna through codis and check his fingerprints, too, I guess. I’ll run it through every database we have. Yeah. Hey, chase, be sure to flag it for intelligence services, too. This isn’t charmin! The shooting was an accident. If you believe nothing else, you have to believe that. I am aware the shooting was an accident and that you would never want to hurt her, but for you to deliberately march into her room when you’ve been asked to stay away is unthinkable. Elizabeth, will you sit with charlotte for one second? Of course. What the hell are you doing? I’m just trying to undo the damage that you and your father caused. Dante: So what else can you tell me about the condition of the body? As I said, there were multiple traumatic injuries, but there was one thing that stood out. He had a significant bruise on the left heel. Is that unusual? Actually, yes, since it was starting to callus. So what does that tell you? It indicates it wasn’t a fresh bruise, and it certainly didn’t come from the impact of the vehicle striking him. I found that odd, so we looked into his left shoe, and we found this under the lining. Can you do me a favor and bag that? Thanks. And don’t mention this to anyone, if you don’t mind. Thank you. Hey, we got a hit. Fingerprints match up with the U.K. Id. Jameson forsyth. I really want to do this for curtis. Not only does he deserve to know who put him in a wheelchair, but I think it’ll be good stimulation for him to put his energy into an investigation. Now, I didn’t know him way back when he was a police detective, but I have a lot of respect for him as an investigator. But, well, beyond that, we’re very good friends. Yeah. Well, you went through some intense experiences in greenland. Did we ever. Victor cassadine was on the rampage, and, uh, curtis was pivotal in bringing him down. So you’re saying we have your blessing to pursue this? Yes, absolutely. I’m behind you 100%. Now, this could cut into my hours here. I may not be available for all of my deputy mayor duties. Is that alright? Yes, it’s absolutely alright. I am back home again. And besides that, it is vitally important to the people of port charles to find out who opened fire at the metro court pool. And this is my security id and password. Nina, I — I know you’re going out on a limb for me, and I want you to know that I appreciate it. Well, I trust you implicitly. You know that. And if this helps you, I’m happy to do it. I know why this is so important to you, curtis. And I want you to know that it’s important to me, as well. That means a lot. Yeah. So I hear the police don’t think that you were the intended target. Yeah, they definitely believe the bullet was intended for anna… …or sonny. Well, if someone tried to kill sonny, the man that I love, they could try again. And I want to do everything I can to make sure that doesn’t happen. I knew you were a coffee dealer, but are you moonlighting as an accountant?

[ Chuckling ] No. No, I just want to help you. So I came here to get permission to audit your accounts ’cause I want to know exactly how much gladys stole from you. I don’t see the point. The money is gone. And so is gladys, thanks to you. I never really got a chance to acknowledge what you did, getting gladys out of town. Thank you. No thanks necessary. Well, you could have sent her to prison, but you didn’t, and I am grateful for that. Despite all the awful things she did to me, she was brando’s mother and liam’s grandmother, and you were merciful in sending her back to connecticut. Now you don’t — you don’t have to see her. You don’t have to even think about her. I can move forward, focus on the future. You deserve more than that. You deserve to get your money back.

When moderate

to severe ulcerative colitis martin, this is gregory chase, a former professor who is now a journalist at the invader. Ah. Nice to meet you, mr. Grey. A pleasure, I’m sure. So you were over at pcu? Yes, and before that, I was at berkeley. Hamilton finn is also gregory’s son, and he’s in need of representation. Ah. And while I have not had the privilege of going up against you in the courtroom, you have a very impressive record. I understand you were quite the attorney, ms. Davis. Thank you. I’m also very impressed that valentin cassadine has you on retainer. Wow, somebody has done her homework, but I’m not sure how that’s relevant. Yeah, I don’t understand, either. What does that have to do with finn’s case? Finn is in need of a lawyer who has experienced defending a client that may come off somewhat indelicate. Wait, wait. You’re putting finn in the same category as valentin? You’re related to him, and even you admit he’s done some reprehensible things. And how does disparaging one of my clients start a conversation? Both of you gentlemen are highly intelligent, but you’re missing the point. If martin can make someone like valentin cassadine come off as sympathetic, he should be able to do the same thing for finn. I really appreciate your help, and I will do my best to keep things under the radar, but what do I do when your staff starts asking questions about why I’m hanging around so much? Oh, I don’t think they’re going to — they’re not going to say anything. And even if they do, I’ll just tell them that you’re helping me with a special project, which happens to be true. You’re giving me feedback on the handicap-accessible areas and telling me where I can make improvements. You’re good. You’re good. Maybe you should be a part of this investigation. I think I already am, because this has so much to do with you, but it also has a lot to do with sonny, and I will do anything that I have to do to keep him safe. You’re fierce about protecting your man. Well, my husband. Excuse me. Mrs. Corinthos. Yes. You know, curtis, I’m happier than I have ever been in my entire life. I am married to the man of my dreams, and I’m closer to willow and my grandchildren. And I’m scared to death. Scared? Scared of what? It seems like you have everything. I do. And that means that I have a lot more to lose. Gladys was my dad’s cousin, so I feel responsible for what happened. None of this was your fault, sonny. Gladys lied to you, as well. Yeah, but I pretty much knew that she was not a good person from the start. All she wanted was a quick buck. I should’ve sent her back to bridgeport, but because she was family, I couldn’t see what was right in front of me. I gave her the benefit of the doubt when she didn’t deserve it. That was on me. Please, sonny, don’t beat yourself up over this. Sasha, I should’ve never allowed gladys to be your guardian. That was my mistake. Compounded by the fact that I didn’t keep an eye on her to make sure she did the right thing. That’s on me. Okay? And I want to pay you back for that. So here’s what I want to do for you, okay? I want to reimburse… …every dime that you lost. Why was anna allowed in here? She came to hurt me. I promise you, she won’t be back. Don’t you think you’ve kept enough from me and charlotte? Your actions caused this whole mess. My actions? Yes. She needs to know the truth — that victor lied to her, that he planted seeds in her head that I’m dangerous and I want to hurt her. I just was trying to explain. Okay, let’s get some things straight. My daughter is convinced that you tried to kill her intentionally. You think you can explain that to a child,

my child, in her hospital bed? Now, I don’t know how many years of therapy she has ahead of her to come to terms with all this, but if you really want to help, stay away. My god. You blame me for this? No. I blame myself.

[ Cellphone rings ] Yeah? Hi, dante. Hey, uh, where are you? I’m at G.H. Why? Can you meet me at the morgue? There’s something here I think you got to see. My while I appreciate the suggestion, it’s not my place to hire a lawyer for my son. Okay, well, I don’t want to rush you, but you know what diane is doing right now? She’s preparing a case against your son. So the sooner you put a lawyer on retainer, the better. I guess you’re right. I did want to give finn an option, so… would you be interested, mr. Grey? Oh, you’re going to have to forgive me. That’s a little too “cart before the horse” for my taste. Normally, I like a little information about a case before I sign on anything. It’s a malpractice suit. My son is an infectious disease specialist. A patient named mr. Muldoon came to see him, concerned that he might’ve contracted something in his travels. Apparently, his work sends him out to remote locations. He thought he might’ve picked up a parasite. My son ran some tests and confirmed that he had a tapeworm. Relatively easy fix. Then about two months later, mr. Muldoon came back, and that was when finn discovered that he had stage iv cancer. So your son missed something important, and now a man is dead as a result? No. Absolutely not. And I take offense that you just assume my son made a mistake. He is not responsible for that man’s death. Is this how dr. Finn reacts when somebody questions his expertise? Oh, worse. Much worse. There are a lot of files to go through. This has been an ongoing investigation. Have you and curtis figured out where you want to begin? I think it’s best to start with a clean slate. It’s not that I won’t consider the information the police have compiled, but this case needs fresh eyes. Okay. Hopefully, you and curtis will be able to find something that other people have overlooked. Well, the first thing I need to do is request the evidence the pcpd has gathered. Now, I don’t anticipate any roadblocks, but should I hit some red tape…? You won’t have any red tape. The mayor’s office will be backing you completely. Thank you. I knew I could count on you, and this is exactly what curtis needs. I admire you looking out for sonny, but I assure you, sonny can take care of himself. That man is a survivor. I’ve heard he’s been a target for decades, and yet he’s still standing, so I don’t think there’s a reason to think that’s going to change. Yeah, I guess you’re right. You’re right. I should stop worrying so much, right, because it really takes me away from enjoying the here and now. Exactly. You know, when I was in rehab, aunt stella came to visit me, and she told me, “curtis, stop focusing on the negative.” You know, take advantage of — of the good moments right in front of me now. Were you able to do that? Oh, well, it took a while for it to sink in, but, yeah, yeah, I got it eventually. Yeah, things are really good for me right now. Just don’t want it to change, curtis. I want to keep my family. I don’t want anyone to take that away. Why do I think we’re not talking about protecting sonny anymore? Something’s bothering you. What is it? Hi. Oh, hey. Thanks for coming. Sure. Got a dead body? Yeah. A jogger found a body by the side of the road this morning. Multiple injuries. Looks like a hit-and-run. Csi combed the scene and couldn’t find any evidence that the driver of the vehicle tried to avoid hitting the deceased. And the injuries are consistent with a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Mm, murder. Looking that way. What does that have to do with me? This guy had on him three ids from three different countries. Oh. Were they legit? Yeah. I was thinking maybe, uh… you work for the wsb. I know it’s a long shot, but maybe you want to take a look and see if you recognize him? My dry eye’s made me

vicks vapocool drops.

Vaporize sore throat pain. You see, mr. Chase, while I completely respect your need to protect your son, you’ve got to understand what goes into a malpractice suit. When dealing with accusations of a wrongful death, often, the facts of the case are far less important than how the jury feels about the plaintiff versus how they feel about the defendant. I’ve been teaching for decades, and I always make sure my students are presented all the facts before I ask them to offer an opinion. Yeah, with all due respect, I’m here to tell you there are times when perception is reality. Especially in a courtroom. See, a jury’s not going to see a doctor who was doing his job to the best of his ability. They’re going to see a grieving widow. And if this man had young children… he did. …Well, that could be the nail in finn’s coffin. If he overreacts, he gets defensive on that stand, insisting he did nothing wrong, he’s going to lose.

[ Sighs ] But if finn admits that he may have overlooked signs of cancer, which he didn’t, he’s going to lose anyway. His hands are tied. So what are you suggesting we do? The best approach is to present your son as an exceptional doctor. Did everything he could to save his patient by the book. A talented, dedicated physician who’s already saved many lives, who has the potential to save countless more. You’ve got to make the jury see that finding him liable will do far more harm than good. If I were trying this case, that’s the angle I would go with. Thank you, alexis. I think we’ve found a lawyer for finn. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the gesture, sonny. I really do. But I cannot let you do this. Yeah, you can. All you have to do is accept the offer and move on. I’m really touched that you would do this for me, but, honestly, I don’t need the money back. If this ordeal has taught me anything, it’s that I’m resilient. I’m stronger than anyone thought, including myself. And I’m excited for the challenge of continuing to be deception’s spokesmodel. I believe you can do it. I really do. And I’m happy for you. I’m drug-free, and I am enjoying myself for the first time in ages. I really feel like this was a — there was a weird silver lining in all this because now I see every day as a gift. I look at myself in the mirror, and I see a survivor who can stand on her own. You are. But, you know, I feel like I just still owe you, and I’m somebody who likes to pay off his debts. Sonny, this isn’t your debt. You know what? I have an idea. Yeah. Take the money and give it to a charity, something that supports mental health, make the donation in brando and liam’s name, and we can call it even. What do you say? Deal.

[ Chuckles ] It’s nothing, really.

[ Chuckles ] It’s just — it’s just [Sighs] A little tension within the family. I thought things were solid between you and sonny. No, it doesn’t have anything to do with sonny. It’s michael. You know, we’ve never gotten along. We’re making an effort now for the sake of willow and the children, but we’ve definitely hit a rough patch. I see michael at the gym from time to time. Don’t want to get in your business, but I could talk to him and try to smooth things over. No, tha– thank you, cur– no. That’s okay. I mean, I know you mean well, but I need to handle this on our own. We’re managing to coexist, and I think if I bring you in, it’ll just add to the friction. Okay. You know what? I know my friend. And I know when you’re not telling me everything. That’s okay. I won’t push, because you have done me a huge favor here today. I just want you to know that if you need help with michael or anything, I’m here. No questions asked. Thank you. And if I need extra love and support, you will be the first person that I call. I wish you could’ve seen curtis’ face when he told me about the investigation. It was the first time since the shooting that he was not only alert and engaged, but enthusiastic. He had his old drive back. There was a light in his eyes again. Mm. I’m really glad to hear that. I went to visit him just a few days ago. It was really hard to see him in that wheelchair… hm. …But I think he was happy that I came over. I can’t begin to understand what he’s going through, or know what it’s like to face life with such a daunting disability, but to see him focus on what he can do instead of what he can’T… …was incredible. He’s really lucky to have somebody like you helping him. But this was his idea, and that’s what makes this investigation so important. Curtis is taking action. Well, both of you have my full support. I appreciate it. Especially since you have so much on your plate. I am so sorry. I’ll make sure the staff knows that charlotte’s visitors are restricted, and anna is not allowed. No, you don’t have to apologize. This is on anna. This is on no one else. What was she thinking? I’m starting to believe that anna doesn’t like anyone thinking that she’s wrong. Hey. I am going to stay with you for the rest of the day to make sure that you feel safe, okay? I’m still afraid of anna. What if she tries to hurt me again? Hey, you and I have some things to talk about, but they can wait until you feel stronger. Just know this. You’re in no danger from anna devane. I know you believe that, but you’re wrong, papa. You’re wrong. Was one of the ids jameson forsyth? Yeah. Yeah, it was actually. You know him? That’s his name. I mean, at least it was when we worked back in the wsb. Haven’t seen him for… 30 years or something, more. So what’s the deal? Were you working a case? Yeah. That was the op, the one that went bad. That’s the guy that I found all the evidence on, you know, the paperwork and the files that showed that there was some really shady stuff that went on back then. The evidence that went missing the night charlotte was shot. Right. Do you think this guy got into your apartment? He must have. And forsyth wanted to destroy the files. Question is, who killed him and where is that evidence now?

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

[soft dramatic music]

Abe?

Oh, hey. Hello, Paulina.

[laughs] Oh, what beautiful flowers.

Oh, yes. They’re for a friend. I am not seeing anyone else, if that’s what you’re thinking.

Oh. Good to know.

[Abe chuckles]

Oh, congratulations on the election, by the way.

[chuckling] Oh, we both know that I never would have won if you hadn’t appointed me mayor in the first place. And I’d like the chance to thank you properly.

[soft delicate music]

What do you have in mind?

Eric. I, um… ,::, I just went and I met with Melinda. And, uh, there’s something that you need to know.

S-Sloan, what is it?

[heart monitor beeping]

Why, EJ? Why does God keep allowing this to happen?

[EJ sighs]

[somber music]

I don’t have the answers you’re looking for, Nicole.

[Nicole sighs] But I promise you we will face this challenge together and come out stronger for it.

[door opens]

There you are, you son of a bitch.

Stefan, what the hell, man?

Listen to me, you swine. Drop these bogus murder charges against Gabi now.

Yeah, I’ll accept the call. Yeah, this is Ava Vitali.

Well, hey there, Ava. As I’m sure you may have guessed, it’s your buddy, Clyde, calling you from the friendly confines of Statesville prison.

What do you want? You shouldn’t be calling me here.

[suspenseful music]

Well, I hear you’ve been kind of naughty. Went out and committed yourself a…

[inhales deeply] You know, a little murder. So I guess the question is what are we going to do about it?

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[tense music]

Sloan? What happened with Melinda? Is it–is it bad news?

[Sloan sighs]

No. No, it’s great news. It’s the bestnews, actually. Tomorrow, we’re getting our baby.

[chuckles] Tomorrow–tomorrow? So soon?

[inhales deeply] Yes. First thing tomorrow morning, we’re going to have that baby boy in our arms. It’s a holiday miracle.

Huh? Oh, right. Right. I mean, it’s Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Yeah, that’s right. And Mommy and Daddy, we have a lot to be thankful for.

What the hell is wrong with you, Stefan? My God, if you don’t have any respect for your brother, at least have some compassion for my grieving wife!

Oh, compassion? For your wife? Where was your compassion for mywife, huh? She’s rotting away in Statesville because of you!

I don’t know what you’re talking about, Clyde.

Well, I was told that you put a bullet in my buddy, Gil Carter. But here’s the thing. If you think that by icing my man on the outside you can get yourself out of our little pact…

[scoffing chuckle] Then you’re as dead wrong as my good buddy Gil is just plain dead.

I don’t recall allowing myself to be sexually assaulted as part of our so-called pact.

Well, that’s a hefty accusation.

It’s not an accusation. Son of a bitch tried to rape me.

Come on now. Are you sure you weren’t just playing hard to get?

You are a disgusting piece–

Oh, now you watch your temper there, Ava. Or else I’ll have to have one of my other good old boys play your boy Dr. Tripp a house call he won’t soon forget.

Okay, don’t you dare threaten my son. I held up my end of the bargain.

Really? So does that mean you lifted those evidence room keys off of Detective Michaels like he asked you to? Yeah. I didn’t think so. Which is why you and me… we still got a problem.

[tense music]

Well, I’ve been thinking… actually, I wanted to call and ask, but now that we’ve run into each other, I’m hosting Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow at my place. So far it’s just me and Chanel and her boyfriend, Johnny DiMera, but I would love it if you would join us. I’m cooking everything from scratch, of course. All my mama’s best recipes. Turkey and stuffing, sweet potato pie, and her world-famous mac and cheese.

Well, that’s an awfully tempting offer.

Well, just know that if you want it, there’s a seat at the head of the table for you.

Well, thank you. Thank you very much. I’ll–you know what? I’ll talk to– I’ll talk to Steve and Kayla and well, they did say that I would be welcome to have Thanksgiving dinner with them.

Oh, no. Well, if that’s what you prefer, then I completely understand that. Whatever is best for you. You know, just let me know when you know.

I will do that.

Okay, then. I’m off to buy some groceries. I’ll buy enough for four, just in case.

I’ll be in touch. Congrats again on the victory, Madam Mayor.

[chuckles] Very well-deserved.

[EJ sighs]

I am so sorry you had to witness that.

It’s fine.

Nicole, I– I shouldn’t have come charging in like that. I apologize. And I am truly sorry for your loss.

[somber music]

Thank you.

Mm. I realize that you’re both suffering right now, and sadly, tragically, there’s nothing anybody can do to stop that. But EJ, you have the power to stop my wife’s suffering.

Oh, my God. We’re back to that again, are we?

We are.

[EJ sighs]

EJ, just… go outside and talk to him. Please.

[EJ sniffles]

Are you sure?

Yes, I need to be alone for a little while anyway.

I won’t be long. I promise.

[door closes]

[Nicole sighs shakily]

Hey, Shin.

Michaels.

I thought you were going to take some time off.

Thought about it. And decided I’d rather be at work than stuck grieving my brother in the apartment where he was… brutally murdered.

I get it. I’m really sorry about your loss.

Appreciate it.

So I take it you don’t know about Ava.

What about her?

Well, her new boss, Gil Carter, attacked her a little while ago at your apartment.

What? Attacked her how?

He tried to sexually assault her, but she fought him off.

[sighs] Good for her. Was she okay?

She will be. Gil is another story. Ava shot him in self-defense. He’s dead and she’s in custody.

Oh, my God. Does Tripp know?

I don’t think so.

Then I need to call him.

[Wendy sighs]

[phone line trilling]

[voicemail beeps]

[Wendy sighs] Straight to voicemail. Okay, he’s on duty at the hospital. I’m going to go there.

Yeah, that’s a good idea. Ava is going to need all the support she can get.

How do you know I didn’t steal those keys?

[Clyde chuckles]

Come on. You were a boss once. You remember what it was like.

[soft tense music]

I spent a lot of time trying to forget those days.

Well, then, let me refresh your memory. You got to stay three steps ahead of the foot soldiers, especially the reluctant ones. Now, I sent Gil to make sure you got those keys for us and not for things to get all, you know, rough and kinky between the two of you.

Oh, go to hell, Clyde.

Ava, you cost me one of my best lieutenants. Now I got to replace Gil and that ain’t going to be easy. But I might just be able to forgive your little faux pas if you do what I need you to do. So here’s the deal. Either you get your pretty, little paws on those keys… or your son’s going to pay the price.

How the hell do you expect me to do that?

[door opens]

Everything okay?

Are you good?

Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. You don’t believe me?

Mm. I’ve known you long enough now to know when something’s worrying you. You get that little crinkle in your nose.

Oh.

[Eric chuckles] Yeah. I probably wouldn’t be a very good poker player now, would I?

[Eric sighs]

Well, what is it? Are you worried about baby-proofing the house and how much time it’s going to take?

No, no, of course not.

Well, then, what’s wrong? Come on, we should be excited about bringing home our baby tomorrow.

I am excited. It–

But?

I’m sorry. It’s just.. I can’t stop thinking about Nicole losing her child.

[somber music]

Yeah, it’s awful.

Hey, I’m sorry. I know it’s difficult for you when I bring up Nicole’s name.

You don’t have to apologize. I know she and I haven’t been the best of friends, but now knowing what it feels like to be a mother, my heart really does go out for her and EJ. Truly, it does. But we are about to be parents now. You’re going to be a father.

[chuckles] And that’s what you’ve wanted your whole life. We shouldn’t be focusing on anything else, but that our dreams are coming true.

Yeah.

Not Nicole’s nightmare.

[knock at door]

Come in.

[heart monitor beeping]

Hello, Nicole.

Abe.

I had to come see you.

[soft dramatic music]

[Nicole sighs]

[Nicole sniffles]

Oh, good. You’re here.

[chuckling] Hey. Hey, I thought you’re supposed to be at work.

I was, but then I found out something you need to know. I tried to call.

I’m sorry. My phone’s off. What is it? Is this about your brother?

No. It’s about your mom. She’s in police custody.

[soft dramatic music]

I have to go now.

Did I just hear your friend, Detective Michaels, come into the room?

Yes.

All right, we’re good for now then, but we will be conversing again soon. And Ava…

What?

You better get your hands on those keys. Your son’s life depends on it.

[phone beeps]

You okay? Who was that on the phone?

Yeah, I just– I called a criminal defense lawyer, and he was asking for a crazy, crazy retaining fee. And then I tried to negotiate and he got all testy with me. And I told him– told him thanks, no thanks.

That’s a good call. And hopefully, you’re not going to need a lawyer because I’m going to do everything I can to make sure Rafe and everybody else knows that you killed Gil Carter in self-defense.

Well… I appreciate you, Harris, more than you know. I don’t think I’ve…

[sighs] Ever had anyone stand up for me the way that you do. And I feel like all I do is complicate your life more.

No. It’s all right. I just want you to be okay.

[suspenseful music]

Let’s get this over and done with so I can get back to my wife.

It’s going to be as long or as short as you want it to be, EJ. Now, look, I understand you and your wife are grappling with the loss of your baby. And for that, I am profoundly sorry. It’s terrible.

Mm.

And I think you should actually be focusing on that, as opposed to your personal vendetta against me and my wife.

Father always said I was an excellent multitasker.

You’re a petulant child.

Oh, spare me the theatrics, Stefan. Your wife’s fingerprints were on the knife that killed Li Shin. He named her as his killer on his deathbed.

She’s being set up, and probably by you!

Oh, I have no idea what the bloody hell you’re talking about. And I am done with this conversation, so stay away from me and my wife or I’ll have hospital security toss you out on your arse.

I’m not done talking you yet.

Let go of my arm, Stefan.

Not until you hear my offer.

[tense music]

[sighs] You don’t want to let Gabi go out of the goodness of your heart, fine. I’ll give you what you really want.

And what, pray tell, is that?

Your old job back.

All you got to do is say the word, EJ. We’ll call an emergency shareholders meeting, have you reinstalled as CEO in the morning.

And if I asked you to step aside completely and make me sole CEO?

[Stefan chuckles]

If that’s what it takes to get Gabi home, fine.

I’ve never known you to roll over like this.

Gabi and I thought we could outmaneuver you. Obviously, we were wrong. You won. So go ahead. Take Father’s empire.

[phone beeps] Take my shares. I don’t care. As long as you call off the dogs and Gabi walks.

[EJ chuckles]

Well, I’ll be damned.

What is it?

One of my mother’s tormentors has been brought in to the Salem PD for killing a man.

What are you talking about?

[EJ sighs]

[suspenseful music]

You know, I’m sorry, Stefan. As tempting as your offer is, I’ve just grown bored of the constant battles to see who’s going to run DiMera. I’ve come to realize that there are more important things in this life than stock prices and annual reports.

Like what?

Well, making Salem safer for our children by putting away hardened criminals like Ava Vitali and Gabi Hernandez.

Mm. You’re a sick bastard, you know that?

Mm. Are we done yet?

You know, EJ… I’d say that karma is going to come back and bite you in the ass.

Mm.

But it looks like it already has. Just ask your wife. Give her my best, by the way.

They’re beautiful, Abe. Thank you.

[sighs]

I’m so sorry. So sorry about your baby, Nicole.

[soft dramatic music]

Who told you?

My son, Brandon.

[Nicole sighs] He’s also your half-brother, right?

Yes, he is. He’s been calling non-stop, and I just haven’t had the strength to answer because I feel like if I hear his voice, I’m just going to lose it.

Well, I’m sure he understands. He wanted me to tell you how much he loves you, and he will be there for you if you need him.

I know that. And I’m glad he sent you as his goodwill ambassador.

[Nicole chuckles and sniffles]

You know, you– you told me once that we used to be very close, you and I… that I was like a father to you.

[Nicole sighs]

[crying] You used to call me your bonus daughter.

[laughs] I knew you were always there for me in the worst times of my life. And I’m sure you don’t remember, but I do. It’s just so comforting having you here.

Well, where else would– would a father be at a time like this… than right here with his bonus daughter?

[Nicole laughs]

[Nicole sighs shakily]

Oh, God, I’m sorry. That came out wrong. I didn’t mean to sound so selfish.

No, stop it. You’re– it’s all right. You’re right. I mean, as sorry as we both are for EJ and Nicole, we can’t let their sorrow ruin our joy.

Yeah?

Yeah. I’m really happy.

Me, too.

Come here.

[Sloan sighs]

Oh, me, too. I think I know something that can help us focus on our joy.

Yeah, what’s that?

Mm… we can think of a name for the baby.

Okay.

Unless we want to keep calling him Baby Boy Petersen-Brady forever.

[laughs] Yeah, that might not go over so well once he hits high school.

Mm. True. That would–that’d be bad. So any thoughts?

Actually, I do.

Mm-hmm?

I’ve been thinking about a couple of names, and… Hopefully, you will like it, too. Um… what do you think about Samuel?

[soft dramatic music]

Samuel.

Yeah. Sam, for short.

Oh, hold on. You want to name our son after your sister, Sami?

[Eric sighs]

That animal tried to rape my mom.

According to Michaels, she shot him in self-defense. He was heading in to see her when I left the station.

I got to get down there.

What about your shift?

I only had an hour left anyway, okay? I’ll stop in and tell Kayla on the way.

I’ll drive.

Let’s go.

Well, here. Like I said, I’m hoping to get the brass to toss this case out. But until then, we got to do everything by the book.

Meaning?

Meaning I have to take your official statement.

[tense music]

What’s wrong with naming our child after my sister?

Well, only that, you know, word around town is your sister’s kind of a hot mess.

[Eric sighs]

Yeah, she is. She’s more than earned her reputation, but she’s the most loyal and protective person I know. All right, what are you thinking now?

Well, only that you told me, once upon a time, that Sami and Nicole didn’t get along very well. And I was just wondering if maybe that’s because Sami didn’t approve of Nicole.

No, it goes way deeper than that.

How deep?

[soft dramatic music]

Well, she did the worst thing you could ever do to a mother. She stole Sami’s baby.

[heart monitor beeping]

When they told me my son died… it’s as if someone reached in my chest and flattened my heart. EJ and I had big plans for our son. Beautiful dreams.

[soft dramatic music] You want to know what I was thinking about before you came in?

Tell me.

[Nicole inhales deeply]

Karma.

Karma?

I know you don’t remember, but… I used to be a terrible person.

Ah.

I lied and cheated and hurt people. And…

[Nicole sobs] Maybe I wasn’t supposed to bring a child into this world.

[somber music]

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Enough of that kind of talk, huh? You know…

[Nicole sobs] Losing your baby was just a horrific tragedy. But it wasn’t punishment. Nicole. You have a good heart.

[Nicole sighs] And you’re not alone.

[Nicole sniffles] You have your friends. You have your family. And that very, very happily includes me.

[Nicole sobs]

[Nicole sniffles] Come here.

[Nicole sniffles]

Thanks, Dad.

[Nicole sobbing]

[sighing] Oh.

The man was out of control, violent, and I truly believed I had no choice but to shoot him.

Mom.

Oh. Oh, hi. Wendy, thank you. Thank you for getting him.

Of course. I’m so glad you’re safe.

Thanks.

Why don’t we give them a few minutes? I’m going to see if Rafe’s in the office, talk about the charges, okay, and be right back.

So they told you what happened, huh?

Did that sick bastard hurt you?

No, he tried, he tried, but come on. You know your mom. You don’t mess with a Vitali.

Yeah, well, he’s lucky he’s dead, or I’d kill him myself.

Okay, stop. Don’t you talk like that, especially in a police station.

When I think what he tried to do to you–

Okay, baby. Baby, I’m okay. All right? You don’t have to worry about it. I’m okay. I’m fine. I am always going to be fine. All right? No need to worry about me. You know your mom’s a survivor. You’re the one who needs to be careful, though.

Me? Why?

[tense music]

Because you’re a doctor with a brilliant mind and a brilliant future ahead of you, okay? So I need you to stay out of this. All right?

No. Not until I know that you are safe and free, okay?

Hey, what are you doing?

I’m going to hire you the best lawyer in town.

[phone beeps]

[phone line trilling]

[phone line trilling]

Well, if it ain’t my favorite zombie DiMera.

What am I doing here?

You tell me.

Don’t act dumber than you already are. I was on my way to the other side of the prison to see my wife. One of your cell block flunkies told me you wanted to speak to me. You want to talk? Talk and be quick.

Why? Have you got someplace more important to be?

Like I said, I came to Statesville to see my wife.

You know, I think that’s a problem with the young folks these days. Always in a rush.

What do you want?

Why are you so hostile? Especially when you and me got so much in common these days? I mean, as you well know, your wife is right on the other side of that wall in the women’s unit.

Your point?

Well, I just got to say I think it’s a damn shame what your brother’s doing to Gabi. I guess blood ain’t thicker than water, huh? And tell me, how did EJ get to be the Salem DA anyway?

[laughs] I mean, it seems like yesterday, he and I were partners in a very lucrative drug operation.

You know what? Screw this and screw you. I don’t have the time to sit here and listen to some hillbilly meth peddler wax poetic about his stroll down memory lane. I’m going to see what’s keeping my wife.

[Clyde chuckles]

You know, it’s really touching to see how much you love her, and it would be such a shame if something were to happen to her on the inside.

[ominous music]

Did you just threaten my wife, pal?

Oh. No, sir, not at all. I’m just speaking the truth here. I don’t need to tell you what a dangerous place Statesville can be. Now, I would be willing to offer Gabrielle my protective services… as long as I got a little something in return.

[soft dramatic music]

Wow.

Oh!

[laughs] Oh, two run-ins in one day?

Yeah.

How lucky can a girl get?

Oh, it wasn’t luck exactly. I was hoping I’d catch you on your way out of the store.

You came back here looking for me?

Uh, well, I am guilty as charged.

[Abe laughs]

Oh. What–is it about Thanksgiving?

It is, it is. You know, I was at the hospital visiting my friend, and I stopped by to see Kayla.

And?

Well, it turns out that she’s working on Thanksgiving and Steve is out of town working a case with John.

Well, I guess that means that I’m your only option.

Oh, I don’t think you should be referred to in that way.

[both laugh] But if the invitation is still there, I will happily accept and would love to spend the holiday with you and your daughter.

Yes, yes, the offer still stands. It most certainly does stand.

[both chuckle]

[Paulina gasps] On one condition.

Oh?

Yeah. You help me carry these groceries to the car.

[Abe chuckles] Oh, I’ve got an important feast I’ve got to prepare for the people I love.

Aw. Oh.

[Abe chuckles]

[Paulina chuckles]

So you’re saying that Nicole switched Sami and EJ’s daughter with the baby she planned to adopt?

She did. Only that baby died. And by that time, she already had grown to love her.

[sighs] My God. I can’t even imagine what your sister went through. And even after that entire tragedy, Nicole continued to raise Sami’s biological daughter as her own?

Until she learned the truth that Sydney was her daughter, not Nicole’s. I mean, in some ways, we still suffer the repercussions.

Eric, you just told me how much you care about Sami. How can you even forgive Nicole for something that she did to your sister?

Because I believe in forgiveness. I mean, Lord knows I need forgiveness myself. I know, Sami has done some terrible things in her time, but–

Well, how terrible?

[soft dramatic music]

Well, let’s just say back in the ‘s, there wasn’t a DNA test that, uh… in my family that Sami didn’t tamper with.

So you’re saying that you were able to forgive Nicole because Sami did bad things, too? Is that what you’re saying?

[sighs] Listen, Nicole is desperate to be a mother. I mean, she was still suffering from the loss of her child. You know better than most that sometimes, desperate people do desperate things.

Well, I’m sorry you feel that way, Belle. Okay, Belle Brady refused to take your case.

I can’t say I’m surprised. Susan Banks is part of her extended family.

Hey, we both know you were not in your right mind when you went after Susan, okay? But it’s fine. Belle isn’t the only solid lawyer in town.

[Tripp sighs]

[phone line trilling] Justin, hey, this is Tripp Johnson. I was wondering if I could get together with you and talk about my mom.

[soft dramatic music]

Hey, good news.

Yeah?

Yeah.

What’s that?

I spoke to Rafe, explained the whole situation. He doesn’t see any reason for me to have to book you, at least not tonight.

Oh.

So when CSI is done at your apartment, you are welcome to go home.

What a relief. Thank you. Oh, thank you so much.

[Ava sighs]

[sighs] I’m sorry I took so long. After dealing with my insensitive boar of a brother, I had to take a walk to clear my mind.

It’s okay. Abe came to check on me.

[sighs] Brandon told him what happened.

[EJ sighs]

It must have been nice to see him.

It was. He’s still Abe, you know?

[EJ chuckles]

I suppose even with his memory loss, he can still tell what a special person you are, and what a strong connection you both had.

So how did it go with Stefan?

Ah, do you really want to talk about that?

Yeah, I do. I need something to distract me.

Understandable.

So what did he say?

Well as you can imagine, he once again begged me to drop the charges against Gabi.

She is guilty, right?

All the evidence points to it.

[suspenseful dramatic music] He also offered to make me the CEO of DiMera again.

Huh.

Mm?

Let me guess. You refused.

Damn right I did. I imagine he is at Statesville right now relaying the bad news to his wife.

So this is a shakedown?

[Clyde scoffs] You want me to pay you so Gabi doesn’t get hurt?

No, man, I wouldn’t dream of suggesting such a crass arrangement.

Then what are you suggesting?

Well, as it turns out, I suffered a significant loss recently and happen to be in the market for a new man on the outside.

Oh, you want me to be your henchman. Dream on.

[Clyde chuckles]

You got me all wrong, man. I would not insult the son of Stefano DiMera and Vivian Alamain by asking him to be my lackey. What I might suggest, though, is that you become my partner.

Partner in what?

It’s pretty simple, really. I just make sure that nobody comes close to laying a finger on Gabi’s head.

In exchange for what?

Well, I think it’s time for the DiMeras to get back in the drug running game.

[dramatic music]

Brooke: Ridge…

[ Ridge exhales in admiration ]

[ Brooke laughing ] What is all of this?

Ridge: See, our lives get so crazy, sometimes you gotta stop and say thanks. Steal a few moments just for us.

Brooke: Yeah? Is that what you’re doing? You’re stealing me away? Like you did all those years ago?

Ridge: There you are.

Brooke: Were you talking to me?

Ridge: We haven’t stopped talking since. Hit me like a ton of bricks the first time I saw you.

[ Brooke giggling ]

[ Ridge laughing ]

Ridge: That. That giggle and that look. Whether it’s across a crowded room at a party or…

Broke: Or riding up on horseback to get married?

Ridge: Mm.

Ridge: I’ve been caught up in the beauty of you for as long as I can remember, I’m thankful for you, brooke.

Brooke: Oh, thank you. Wow. Did you do all this?

Ridge: Nah, it was nothing.

Brooke: This is hardly nothing.

Ridge: Well, it pales in comparison to the beauty in front of me. Oh, I got you something.

Brooke: Uh-oh. You got me a gift? Wait, am I missing a special occasion or something?

Ridge: I don’t need a special occasion to celebrate you. Celebrate us.

Brooke: Okay. Wow.

[ Brooke giggles, gasps ] Ridge!

[ Ridge chuckling ]

Ridge: Quite a story, the two of us are.

Brooke: Aw! Look at those two.

Ridge: Kids.

[ Brooke laughs ]

Brooke: You’re right. We were kids.

Ridge: Hm.

Brooke: Oh, so handsome.

Ridge: I like that one.

Brooke: I do too. But I really remember this day. I was there in the garden and I looked up and I saw you at the top of that staircase at the fountain. You came back. A new man. Almost like our lives began all over again. Sleep more deeply. And wake u

Ridge: We don’t have to look at the whole thing now.

Brooke: I know. I’m– I am. You took the time to put it together.

Ridge: I may have had a little help, but I did find all the photos.

Brooke: It’s fabulous.

Ridge: Well, it’s our story, right? It’s, uh… our dreams. Had few missteps, but we found our footing.

Brooke: Well, there’s nobody I would rather walk hand-in-hand with.

[Brooke gasps] Oh, my.

Ridge: Yes. I would like to say that forrester creations will be forever in your debt for the belief formula.

Brooke: Oh, I still can’t believe how it all came together. This stuff is genetically engineered to be wrinkle free. It’s a code we spliced in. It’s alive, ridge, and it’s taking orders from us.

Ridge: You also set the runway on fire the way that only brooke logan can.

[Brooke chuckles]

Emcee: Here’s the woman behind brooke’s bedroom, the final word in sexy sophistication, the quintessential woman of the millennium, the one, the only, the fabulous brooke logan!

[ Audience cheers ]

Brooke: Just not sure whose reaction was better, yours or your mother’S.

[Brooke laughs] Portofino. Italy is magical. How did you have time for all of this?

Ridge: If you love someone, you make time. This is an important part of our life. I wanted to celebrate it.

Brooke: Yes. You have always been one for grand gestures. Our wedding on the beach.

Ridge: And then, I tried to recreate it because I wanted to win you back and you wouldn’t have me back. For good reason. And then I proposed to you.

Brooke: Stephanie’s ring.

Ridge: She’s had it for years. Now, I want you to have it.

Brooke: Are you asking me to marry you?

Ridge: And then I surprised you with a heart in the sand. You’re not leaving me. Not now and not ever. Thankfully, I got through to you right outside this building. Responsible for so many happy memories. Yeah?

[ Both laughing ]

Brooke: I’m back, ridge. And I’m here to stay.

Ridge: My logan.

Brooke: Yes, your logan. What are the chances? Reuniting on an actual bridge.

Ridge: It’s not that surprising, really.

Brooke: Oh, yeah?

Ridge: Oh, yeah. We have a secret weapon. We have destiny on our side.

Brooke: Oh.

[ Laughs ] Yes we do.

Ridge: You know what I think? I think we’re not giving the outside forces enough credit.

Brooke: Oh, what do you mean?

Ridge: You know, for our story.

Brooke: We’ve had plenty.

Ridge: Yes, and it always proved that we’re better together than apart.

Brooke: We’re also good at reconnecting.

Ridge: Yeah, we are.

Brooke: Well, this last time was rough. You didn’t make it easy on me. I had to chase you all the way up to aspen. Ridge!

Ridge: What are you doing here?

Brooke: What are you doing here?

Ridge: Taylor and i are back together.

Brooke: Obviously, I have done something. That’s why you’re here. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out what it is. Ridge, if you’re not ready to talk about it, that’s okay. I’m not gonna pressure you. All you need to do is get on that plane with me and we’ll fly home together and you and I can work through this together. That’s what we do. We can get through anything. I believe that. Tell me you believe that too.

[Brooke crying]

Ridge: I should have had more faith in you. And you did it. You showed that you had enough faith for both of us.

Brooke: And all I needed was italy to work its magic. Ridge.

Ridge: I found you. I don’t want to spend another day without you. My logan.

Brooke: You said “logan.”

Ridge: My beautiful, wonderful logan.

Brooke: Say it again. Just say it again.

Ridge: Will you be… my logan forever?

[ Brooke laughs ]

Brooke: Yes. Oh, my god, yes. Yes, of course. I mean, pure magic.

Ridge: Does this remind you of anything?

[ Brooke gasps, laughs ]

Brooke: Did you have those flown in?

Ridge: Well, you said they were your favorite.

Brooke: You are always full of surprises.

Ridge: Says the woman who set up a private concert with andrea bocelli at his house.

Brooke: Yes. I’ve got to keep you on your toes, mister.

Bocelli: Sai perché cerco in te la felicit che sar perché sei sei tu nei miei sogni e nelle nostalgie cosi fortemente mia ma con te vola via ma con te vola via l’eco di un dolore che pesa in questa vita mia ma io come potro essere sempre l’unico regalarti il sogno che tu m’hai fatto vivere amore mio come il sole anche di piu scaldi questo cuore tu sai perché siamo insieme io e te perché il nostro amore un incontro d’anime were we meant to be our love feels like we are constantly two people destined to be free so I will keep longing for your face somewhere out there is a time and place I’ll keep searching for that bridge that leads to our breakthrough it’s true yes, it’s true

[ Soldier shouting ]

[ Brooke screams, laughs ]

That words could not even try to describe letting love lead the way it can’t be denied it’s you and I for all time

Brooke: You continue to make me feel loved and appreciated. I can’t tell you how much that means to me. Thank you. For all of this. So sweet. So unexpected.

Ridge: Be prepared because I’m never gonna stop. I am so thankful every day… that I get to call you my logan.

It was great to speak with Tim again. He’s very engaging and fun. I love this show – the writing, the humor, the acting, the scares…it is just worth watching for pure entertainment. Usually we interview the actors before the show starts, but we weren’t able to do that because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. However, I did interview the show’s creator/writer, George R. Olson, so that was cool. I love interviewing writers, directors and producers from shows I love, as well as the actors. I’m very grateful that we have them all back now and available.  There are 3 episodes left as I post this, so I hope you get to watch all the episodes! The last three really wrap things up nicely for this season.

When not acting, Tim plays the role of restaurateur in Montreal at his hit restaurants Garde Manger and Le Bremner opposite star chef Chuck Hughes.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Ned vocalizing ]

If I can I just have to dive in I just have to dive in and believe

Brook Lynn: Okay, Ma. Spill. What did Tracy mean about you leaving?

Lois: Honey [ Scoffs ] Well, you know me. I’m not one to overstay my welcome.  Not that there’s much of a welcome with Tracy.  Of course, she is gone.

Brook Lynn: You’re going, too?

Lois: Honey, the only reason I came here was because of that awful tabloid story about you. But look at you now. You’re fine. You’re more than fine. And, you know, I thought I would get out of your hair.  My work here is done.

Brook Lynn: Your work here is never done, and I kind of like having you in my hair.

Lois: Brookie, my love. Hey. Always and forever I will be here for you. If you need me, I will drop everything for you. So you just say the word, sweetheart, and I will stay exactly where I am.

(Part missing here; we will put it up 11/20)

Eddie?! Can you hear me?!

[ Water splashing ] Oh, god. Eddie! Is that you?! Oh, god. Oh, god, what do I do?

[ Breathing heavily ] Oh, god, please let him be okay.

[ Breathing heavily ] It’s weird to hear you say I’m “fine.” It’s even weirder to realize I actually am. For once, I’m not in any crisis. Hear, hear. But that doesn’t mean I need you any less. Look, ma, it’s been amazing having you here — and a little bit strange while dad is going through this whole “eddie maine” thing.

[ Chuckling ] Strange for you? Growing up, I used to hear all these stories about eddie maine — the rock star, you know, the rebel. But I never saw it for myself until he performed at the savoy. It was like a childhood fairy tale was coming to life. Aww. Eddie maine was — and is — a huge part of your father’s life. And a huge part of my life. I fell for him hard — and he fell for me. Until I discovered that he was actually somebody else. What do you mean, it was your fault? Mac told me that anna, my friend, came home to find someone in her apartment. The lights were off, and the intruder seemed to have a weapon. Anna thought she was in danger, so she fired. And it turned out to be a 15-year-old girl. Oh, good lord. What was she doing at anna’s? We don’t know, but right now she’s in the hospital fighting for her life. Oh, dear. I still don’t see why you think you’re responsible. It was my idea that anna move in to my daughter’s old apartment. If I had just had her stay with us, none of this would have happened. Oh, felicia, you don’t know that. Maxie: Our spring line is all about renewal — updated colors, a softer palette, a whisper of nature. I mean, imagine sasha in this eden with a sweet baby animal by her side. The garden is ready, but where is the baby animal? Oh, it’ll be here. I-I promise. Unfortunately, the lamb I booked got laryngitis, but I called in a favor for a backup. In the meantime, why don’t you shoot sasha getting her groove on in this beautiful garden? I suppose we must. Come, sasha. Are you ready? So, apparently anna mistook charlotte for an intruder in her apartment. How is this even possible? I don’t have all the details yet. But I do know that anna is not reckless, so I guess she must have felt that there was a genuine threat there. Why was charlotte even in anna’s apartment in the first place? Honey, we just don’t know yet. We don’t know. When I left the hospital this morning, she had come out of surgery, but she hasn’t woken up yet. But she will? Yes. She is supposed to make a full recovery. Okay. Alright. Yeah. Thank god. Yes. Anyway, I’m gonna go back over to the hospital later and visit her. But, um… I don’t know. I just wanted you to hear it from me in person. Uh… actually, there’s something else that I need to talk to you about. And it is important. Papa? Nina. Yeah. You’re both here. Together. I wanted to be here when you woke up. How you feeling? My stomach hurts, and [Gulps] My mouth is dry. Oh, there’s, um — here. Here’s some ice chips. Just eat them slowly, okay?

[ Monitor beeping ] Charlotte, what happened? Do you remember? I think so. It was halloween. We were trick-or-treating, and then anna… anna shot me. Thank you for allowing me to stay here last night. I’m very grateful. Um, but I can’t hide out here forever, you know? I have to face valentin, and I — and I have to get him to understand. Anna, I know you want to confront things, but this may not be the right time. Valentin and I — you know, we’re different people, but we’re both fathers. I don’t think I would be ready, if it was me, to accept your explanations at this point.

[ Knock on door ] Dante. Hey. Good. Anna, you’re here. Come on in. You here to arrest me? Ned:

If I can

I just have to dive in

I just have to dive in

I just have to dive in I cannot believe you jumped out of a cake. Yeah, well, katherine bell nearly jumped out of her skin. Surprise!

[ Laughs ] That’s got to be the best revenge. Top 10. Well, I figured they both deserved a swift kick in the pants.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah, but still, I’m — I’m sorry you had to go through all that. Oh, boo hoo. That’s in the rearview mirror. I like to drive towards the future. You’re amazing. Oh, honey. I like to drive down the road, never know where it’s gonna take me, you know? Lots of funny places. Like here, for example. And what did I get? My beautiful, feisty, talented daughter, who’s keeping the musical flame alive. See? It all comes full circle. Living the dream. At least trying to. Well, that’s all we can do. Except your dream happens to have a road full of a lot of potholes, so you just got to make sure that those potholes don’t kick you off course. Felicia, let’s just get one thing straight. No crystal ball in the world could have predicted that girl being at anna’s apartment. Well, you’re right, but, recently, someone burned down anna’s house. She’s been stalked and threatened, and I should have seen the danger signs. How? What happened at anna’s place was a crime. But your heart was in the right place, offering her a fresh start. I just wanted to keep her safe.

[ Voice breaking ] I never imagined this. Felicia, felicia, you — you’ve been a good friend to anna. The real culprit is out there. And let’s just pray that they’re soon behind bars. Grandmother, if this is about my father… don’t bother.

[ Sighs ] I realize that you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he’s been absent from my life for too long and now he’s done the same thing to ace and I just don’t have it in me anymore. I don’t have it in me to forgive him. You’re not gonna do yourself any good by feeding this anger, of course. I know, I know, which is why I’m channeling all of that energy into taking care of ace — because i can be there for him and I can make sure that he feels safe and secure. And he doesn’t need a father because he…has me. I am so sorry to interrupt. Kevin told me that you were both here. I have news that can’t wait. Hey. It’s okay. It’s okay. I didn’t know anna would shoot me. It was an accident, charlotte. A terrible, terrible accident. She — she thought that you were an intruder. She didn’t know it was you. Is that what she said? I saw her this morning, and she feels terrible. She’s so worried about you. She thought that someone was breaking in, and she — she fired in self-defense. What did anna tell you, papa? There’s no warrant out for your arrest. Look, anna, I’m here as a friend and to let you know about some stuff from the pcpd. Don’t compromise yourself for me. It’s nothing that would compromise myself. It’s the contents of charlotte’s backpack. But before we get into that, I wanted to know — how do you think she got into your apartment? I don’t know. Do you think there’s a chance that maybe you didn’t lock your door? What do you think? Given everything that I’ve been through the past few months? Anna, I don’t know. I’m trying to help you. Maybe you didn’t lock your door. No, I’m just saying — I locked the door. That’s what tipped me off that there was an intruder. Because when I got back from seeing robert, the door was unlocked. And I thought that maybe this person that had been terrorizing me was inside. And that’s why I pulled my gun. And made the worst mistake of my life.

with less asthma. Alright, sasha, ready to return to eden? Relax and make friends with the camera. We are here to capture the essence of you, eh? But no pressure. Okay.

[ Speaking spanish ]

Muy hermosa, que linda.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Uh-huh. Very nice. But what is with your shoulders? Loosen those bones. We are in paradise. What’s there to worry about?

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Beautiful. Flow. Yes! Now you are with us.

[ Chuckles ] Anybody order a baby alpaca?

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Esme, uh — I think I found the perfect place. It’s on the ground floor. I mean, it’s right by a park. Wait, what? It’s a tad pricey, but it’s so safe. And if you’re still willing to chip in, and with my earnings from the invader, I think it’s the perfect place for me and ace. I have an appointment in 45 minutes. Cancel it. You’re not taking ace anywhere. Charlotte, I haven’t spoken to anna. I haven’t left you. I’ve been too worried. Okay, papa. I know that you left jake and the others on halloween night. And I know you changed your halloween costume. Why did you do that? Why did you go to anna’s? How did you get into her apartment? Voicemail. That’s all you can do for now. I’m worried about mac. He may be the one who has to arrest anna. And my brother-in-law, robert — will he be the one who has to prosecute her or recuse himself from the case? It’s all a big mess right now.

[ Sighs ] You need a breather. Why don’t you take tomorrow off? No, no dice, stella. If I don’t stay busy, I’m gonna spend the entire day worrying about anna. You’re right. Drink your tea. One of the items found in charlotte’s backpack was — was a key with a — with a keychain in the shape of a shoe. Does that ring any bells? It sounds like the one maxie gave me for her apartment. Did you lose it? Must have. Yeah, I did. Um, I didn’t know that I had until I was taking some things to the apartment and I realized it was gone. And so the super gave me a duplicate. When is the last time you had the key? Um… I think I showed it to valentin. Charlotte was there at his house. What? Okay, now you’re confusing me, ma. I feel like I’m getting mixed messages. No, no, not at all. All I’m saying is, the music business is… it’s like the roller derby, right? There’s a sweet jackpot, but it’s ruthless. I mean, you think that you’re ahead, and then all of a sudden, here comes mary choppins on the left. She’s got an elbow jab. Boom! Mary choppins? You know my motto. No fight, no win. There you go. So, are you and blaze ready to go into battle? I feel like we are. I mean, with blaze’s chops and my songs, I feel like — like this is my chance, you know, to — to really build something from the ground up. Yes. And that is a long way to go. And there is a much easier life. Your granny’s gift of deception. Ned: Ahh

and believe my late father-in-law lit up a room, but his vision dihting! I need morning! Okay. Alright. I just texted brook lynn, thanking her for borrowing the alpaca. Could you go get him, cody? We need him for the next setup. Look away, “sash-**.”

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Just like that, “sash-**.” Cody? Perfect! Breathe in the air. This is eden. Spencer, I’m gonna go look at that apartment. Unless you’ve changed your mind about helping me with the rent.

[ Stammers ] Grandmother…

[ Sighs ] No, honey, I haven’t changed my mind. I’m looking forward to seeing it. What? What? Just a minute. And after I’ve seen it, if we think it’s a safe place, I will co-sign the lease. Esme, we’ve been through this, okay? You’ve thought about moving out before, and I think that you came to your own realization that ace was better off where he is. He’s happy, he’s in a safe home, and he’s surrounded by family. Spencer, a lot has changed since then. I am more confident as a mother now, and ace and i are ready to be on our own. How do you know what ace is ready for? Spencer, I am his mother. My job is to make decisions for him. I have to go. I have an appointment. No. How could you do this? Charlotte, what were you hoping to find at anna’s? You know, valentin, charlotte — she just woke up. She’s — she’s doing great. She — she just needs to rest, okay? So maybe our questions can wait and she can focus on getting better. It’s okay, nina. I want to tell you what happened. Papa needs to know. Sonny: It’s pretty obvious charlotte used that key to get into your apartment. I’m just trying to figure out how she got it, you know? I mean, did she find it? Did she take it? Why would she take it? That doesn’t make any sense. Well, maybe the other items from her backpack could shed some light. What items? Spray paint. Same brand, same color that was used to write “murderer” on your front door. Thank you for taking the time to sit with me, stella. I know there are a lot of people that count on you. How is curtis doing? Curtis is a fighter. But every time I look at him, I see the pain behind his eyes. He had such a zest for life — running, boxing, dancing. Like the sisters said, “he was the greatest dancer.” Not anymore. I’m sorry, stella. Is that why you’re staying in port charles and not going to london to be with your cousin? Yes… and no. Was that a subtle “don’t quit your day job” jab, that you don’t think that I have what it takes to take blaze over the top?

[ Chuckles ]

Au contraire, honey bear. No. The song that you and chase played for me has the perfect hook. I just want to make sure that you understand what you’re setting yourself up for. What happened to “do what you love and the money will come”? Of course it will come, but it is a 24/7 job, no weekends, no holidays. Or you can have an easier life — deception. Too many bad memories and lost friendships. Why not just take the company back and just hand it over to your friends? I mean, that would really spite tracy. Not that you and I would ever do anything purely for spite. Who, us?

[ Both chuckle ] So, what do you say, brookie, hmm? Want to stick it to granny?

[ Woman vocalizing ] Brook lynn: Don’t you recognize us, daddy? Ned: I am not your daddy. My name is eddie maine. That’s all I know. You are ned quartermaine. I’m not ned. Stubborn as ever. Classic quartermaine. Olivia: Remember us. Remember who you used to be. Nothing is going to change me into someone that I’m not. Olivia: There are people who still need you. Your mother and your daughter and our son. Ned quartermaine isn’t just a name. You are my husband, and we need you back. My beautiful wife. I am holding on to you, and I’ll be damned if I ever let go. Ned:

The siren waits for me eddie!

[ Gasping ] Eddie!

[ Inhales sharply ]

She whispers so silently ultomiris is for adults with generalized myasthenia gravis there’s a lot of red spray paint in the world. Just because charlotte had the same brand, the same color doesn’t prove anything. I mean, it was halloween. So, you know, kids are tagging everything at that point, right? Graffiti? Yeah. Well, that would explain the other costume she had in her backpack, but — what — what if it’s worse than that? Because I’ve identified, I think, the person that’s been targeting me, and he’s from my early years at the wsb. And this individual is ruthless enough to co-opt a child. Anna, hold on — and what if he is using charlotte to get to me? If that is the case, then — I-I have to talk to valentin. Whoa — what, are we just gonna let her go? I switched my costume because I didn’t think papa would like me going as one of my tarot card characters.

[ Sniffles ] He doesn’t like when I do the cards. I never said that. I can tell. Whenever I ask to do a reading on you, you say no. Charlotte, you still haven’t said why you went to anna’S. I found her key. She showed it to us. It must have fallen out of her purse. I just wanted to give it back. I knocked on the door, and no one answered, so I let myself in. I was gonna leave a note, but… that’s when she came in and shot me. Okay. That’s enough. Charlotte needs to rest. I only wanted to help, papa. Are you angry with me? No. No, no. I love you. I will always love you no matter what. Papa, please. I only wanted to help. Shh. Nina’s right. You need to rest.

[ Monitor beeping ]

[ Door opens ] She’s lying. About everything. She’s awake. She is alive. All this other stuff, it can wait. You’re right. That’s all that matters. Thank you for being here for charlotte. I’m just a phone call away. I’ll be back tomorrow. Cody, what are you doing here? Hello? Who is this little guy? Meet ferdinand, named after my favorite bull. But don’t — don’t tell salvadore. I don’t want him to know. Okay. He might throw him in a ring or something. I promise. Hey, sweetie. He is so cute! Yeah, he’s super gentle. Hi! Look at his eyelashes. Yeah, he does not need any makeup. Hey, bud. Right, buddy? Hey, buddy. Aww.

[ Chuckling ] Stay just like that.

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Perfection. No, no. Salvadore, wait. We need to get the alpaca wrangler out of the shot. Are you mad? This is what makes this shot authentic!

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Felicia: Well, that’s not fair. What’s the “yes” and what’s the “no”? Really, felicia, it’s nothing. Nothing. Come on. I’ve been pouring my heart out to you. You said that part of our job was to listen. So consider this training and let me listen to you. You playing my own card against me? Uh-huh.

[ Laughs ]

[ Sighs ] Alright. While I was in london visiting my cousin wanda, I met someone special. What? Who? George. Charming, sharp, and oh so very british. Proper in every way. Oh, that’s very exciting.

[ Laughs ] Was he a friend of wanda’s? No, no, he was a regular at our favorite italian spot. And I noticed he was looking at me, and he was a bit of alright. Anyway, we exchanged glances. And then one day I went to pay the bill, and they said, “the gentleman who just left took care of it.” Can you imagine?

[ Chuckles ] So I went right out, and there he was, looking at me, waiting. What happened? What didn’t happen? He became my tour guide. We roamed the city together. Galleries, gardens, you name it. It was like something out of a movie. Magical. You fell head over heels, didn’t you? Oh, felicia. More than I could have ever imagined. But…? George proposed. You turned him down. I did. Why? Because accepting would have been — would have meant london for life. And as much as I love george, my family, my heart, my essence, they’re — they’re all right here. That was maxie. They borrowed the alpaca for a photo shoot. Ferdie is such a cute alpaca. Look, ma, I know you’re just looking out for me, and so is chase, but I — whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You never said that chase was on the same page that I was. Yeah. He had the same idea that I should just walk into deception like a trojan horse. Oh! I knew that guy was a keeper. There’s a catch, ma. Tracy! She’s not stupid. She did exactly as I predicted. She made herself president of the board and made it impossible to vote her out. Tracy is not all that, okay? Please. With your smarts and a little bit of cunning, you can make things right for your friends. I don’t know. My love, come here. The best way to get rid of the queen is from inside the castle, not from outside the gates. So you take the job… and you let destiny do its work. And always make sure that you get a fresh manicure every week, okay? Except on thursdays. You know thursdays are bad luck.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Woman vocalizing ] My husband and I have never been more [ Monitor beeping ] Anna’s whistling in the wind. It does not make any sense to me that a wsb agent tells charlotte to go to her apartment with a backpack full of spray paint. I don’t know what to think. I mean, when charlotte was staying with us, you know, yeah, she was quiet and reserved, but she was polite and gracious. I mean, did she fit in 100% with the kids? Not really. But she hung out with rocco a lot. I mean, she went out of her way to hang out with danny and scout. Okay, so? She’s had a complicated life, right? I mean, she wasn’t always an angel. Is charlotte capable of targeting anna? I don’t know. But the evidence is pointing that way. But like you said, it’s a far-fetched idea to think that there’s some mysterious person from anna’s past that’s secretly pulling the strings, right? Why are you trying to help esme take ace away from me? She is not taking ace away from you. She’s not. She is — she’s creating a home for herself and for her son. But esme can’t take care of ace alone. He needs me. Yes, I think he does need you, and he always will —

always — as — as his big brother, not as a substitute father. Ace doesn’t have a father. I know, and that is really unfortunate. But you and esme are not a couple, right? And you’re not ready to commit yourself to esme. So what’s best for ace is that they make this change now, before he’s old enough to remember that things used to be different. You’re wrong. Ace needs to stay with me.

[ Sighs ]

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Salvadore: A raw, rugged man. An ethereal vision and a baby alpaca with trust in its eyes.

Una visión de fertilidad. Okay — a glimpse of paradise reborn, before the serpent, before temptation’s bite.

[ Stammers ] Salvadore, cody is not a model. Neither is the alpaca. It’s an alpaca, and he’s a man.

[ Camera shutter clicking ] Did you not hire salvadore to be salvadore? This. This is what they’ll be talking about. Salvadore’s vision of spring! Cody, uh, you good? Yeah, sure. Why not? Enough of this talk. You, “sash-**,” whisper to the alpaca. Be its mother. You are teaching the alpaca life. And you, wrangler, never take your eyes off her. Yeah. Not a problem.

[ Camera shutter clicking ] This is perfect. Luke was always one of the good ones. Yeah. And bobbie’s got it rough, having to go through this with tracy. ‘Cause tracy’s a snake. I mean, she’s a smart snake, but, mm… I sort of feel bad talking about how to get tracy out of deception when she’s, you know, going through something so personal. It feels wrong. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Please. Tracy will be the first one to say it. Family is one thing. Business is another. And with business, you got to be tough as nails. I guess you’re right. And like you said, tracy is a snake. Mm-hmm. So, how do we de-fang her? Hmm. Well, that is the million-dollar question, isn’t it? I guess I have to stick around a little longer and help you figure it out. Works for me.

[ Laughs ] Besides, I’ve always had a thing for snakeskin boots.

[ Both laugh ] Ned:

Update written by Joseph

At the DiMera Mansion, Johnny is on the phone with his sister Sydney and tells her that EJ is at the hospital with Nicole and they are both taking it pretty hard. Johnny tells her that she wouldn’t be intruding and he’s sure EJ would love to hear from her. As Johnny hangs up, Chanel arrives and surprises him. They hug as Chanel informs him that her plane just landed a couple hours ago. Johnny is glad to see her as he missed her and asks how Lani is. Chanel says she’s good, considering she’s still on track to be released at the end of the year. Chanel asks how EJ’s wedding was and says she’s sorry she missed it. Johnny responds that the wedding was fine, but he has some pretty bad news as something terrible happened to EJ and Nicole last night.

Nicole lays in her hospital bed. EJ joins her side and says he just finished a call with Rafe, who said they still haven’t found Dimitri. EJ promises that he will not let this go and that Dimitri will be brought to justice. Nicole asks what difference it makes because nothing matters now that her baby is gone and nothing is going to bring him back.

Sloan calls Melinda and asks how the baby is. Melinda says he’s in better shape than her and kept her up all night. Melinda understands it’s Sloan’s first time being a mom. Sloan calls it also her first time stealing another woman’s child. Melinda reminds her to stay positive. Sloan asks if Dr. Pierce said how Nicole is. Melinda feels that’s not focusing on the positives, but notes that he didn’t say and she didn’t ask about Nicole. Sloan says that she’s sure Nicole is devastated about the baby and it’s all her fault, right as Eric comes home.

Ava warns Gil to stop there or she will end him. Gil doesn’t think she will. Harris then knocks on the door and says he knows he’s a little early. Harris then hears a gun shot and bursts in to see that Ava has shot Gil in the chest. Harris asks Ava what happened. Ava responds that Gil is dead and she killed him. Harris checks Gil’s pulse and confirms that he’s dead. Harris sits Ava down and says this is the second body he’s found in this apartment and assumes this is not connected to Li’s death which Ava confirms. Harris asks Ava to tell him what happened. Ava responds that Gil showed up at her door out of the blue. Harris has Ava put the gun down and asks why Gil showed up at her door. Ava thinks back to Gil asking for the key to the police department’s evidence room. Ava then informs Harris that Gil wanted something from her, so Harris asks what he wanted.

Sloan tells Melinda that Eric is home so she has to go and hangs up. Sloan tells Eric that she just called Melinda for an update on their son and they still don’t have an exact date for his arrival, but it should be soon and she’s excited. Eric questions who she said was devastated and that it’s all her fault. Sloan tells Eric that she didn’t want to bother him with it, but Melinda said that the birth mother is having a difficult time with her decision to give up her child but she knows it’s for the best and she is going through with it, it’s just difficult. Sloan can’t help but feel really guilty. Eric encourages that she has nothing to feel guilty about as they are going to give this baby a wonderful life.

EJ asks Nicole if there’s anything he can do to make her feel more comfortable. Nicole says no. Holly then arrives and asks how Nicole is. Holly brought Nicole her favorite pizza but she says she’s not hungry. Holly mentions hearing that Nicole hasn’t eaten since yesterday, which EJ confirms. Holly encourages her to eat just one slice but Nicole yells that she said she’s not hungry.

Chanel tells Johnny that it’s so awful and that EJ and Nicole must be going through it. Johnny calls it a nightmare and wishes there was something he could do. Chanel says all he can really do in times like this is just be there. Johnny supposes she’s right. Chanel suggests they make dinner for EJ and Nicole and take it to the hospital. Johnny calls that a great idea and thinks they’d really appreciate that. Chanel says she’ll go to the kitchen to see what they can make. Johnny thanks Chanel as she just got back and she’s already jumping in to help his family. Chanel tells Johnny that he and his family are important to her, so she’s happy to do it. Johnny calls that one of the many reasons he loves her as they kiss.

Holly apologizes to Nicole for upsetting her. EJ tells Holly that Nicole is just exhausted and needs to rest, so he suggests she come by another time. Holly tells Nicole that she will stop by again later. EJ thanks Holly as she exits. EJ asks Nicole what he can do. Nicole admits that she’s tired and just wants to sleep.

Sloan sees that Eric bought five different kinds of diapers. Eric talks about all the styles and brands. Sloan is sure they’ll work and asks about getting the crib set up. Eric thought he should go to the hospital to check on Nicole. Eric asks if she’s not okay with that. Sloan agrees that he should go since what happened to Nicole was really terrible. Eric calls it a terrible twist of fate.

Harris asks Ava what Gil wanted. Ava responds that he initially claimed that he came to discuss work but then he got handsy with her and started coming on to her in a disgusting way, so she realized why he really came. Harris sees that Ava’s blouse is torn and asks if Gil tried to assault her. Ava confirms that he did and that he just kept getting closer. Ava says she tried to push him away but he wouldn’t, so she grabbed his gun. Harris questions why he had a gun. Ava says she doesn’t know and that he just attacked her. Ava begins to panic, asking what she has done. Harris hugs her as she cries and tells her it’s okay. Ava cries that she’s so glad Harris is there. Harris wishes he trusted his instincts. Ava asks what he means. Harris responds that as soon as he met Gil, he knew he was trouble. Ava tells him that he has no idea.

Holly goes home to the DiMera Mansion where Johnny asks about Nicole. Holly responds that she’s doing awful and barely acknowledged her when she came to the room. Holly says she tried to give her pizza and Nicole snapped at her, then EJ asked her to leave, so she was only there for like two minutes. Johnny says he’s really sorry that happened to her. Holly cries that Nicole is in Hell right now and she hated seeing her mom like that. Holly says that Nicole is always so strong and now she doesn’t know how to help her. Johnny hugs Holly as she cries.

Chad goes to the hospital and hugs EJ, telling him that he just heard about the baby and he’s so sorry. EJ thanks him and says he’s so glad he’s there.

Sloan goes to Melinda’s and checks on the baby. Melinda asks what happened with Eric since she ended their call so abruptly. Sloan tells Melinda that Eric overheard the end of their conversation, so she told him that they were talking about the birth mother having a hard time letting go and Eric bought that. Melinda asks if they are ready to become parents. Sloan says almost, joking that Eric bought half the diapers in Salem and they are going to finish the apartment once Eric gets back from the hospital where he is visiting Nicole.

Eric goes to the hospital to visit Nicole and says he thought he’d stop by to see how she’s doing. Eric says he can come back another time but Nicole asks him not to go.

Harris brings Ava to the interrogation room at the police station. Ava talks about her nerves. Harris understands she’s been through something really traumatic, but tells her that she doesn’t have to worry about Gil as he can’t hurt her anymore. Ava thinks back to Gil’s warning that if she shot him, her son would be dead. Ava then tells Harris that he’s wrong as Gil can still hurt her badly. Harris doesn’t understand and questions how Gil can still hurt her when he’s dead. Ava asks what if no one believes that she killed him in self defense due to her history and since she just got out of a mental institution for shooting someone. Harris encourages that they will find physical evidence to back up her story. Ava asks what if they don’t. Harris says that Ava will have to trust the legal system. Harris assures her that he will find a way to prove that she is telling the truth, because he believes her. Ava points out that Gabi trusted the legal system and Rafe made promises but she’s still sitting in a cell. Harris argues that her case is still going to trial and she could be found innocent, but Ava says not with EJ as the new district attorney. Ava declares that EJ hates Gabi’s guts and will exploit his power to keep her locked up forever. Ava then adds that EJ hates her even more than Gabi.

Chad asks EJ why he didn’t call him last night as he would’ve came over right away. EJ apologizes and says there was just a lot going on. EJ calls it all a bit of a blur. Chad asks how he’s holding up but knows it’s a stupid question. EJ says it’s Nicole that he’s worried about as he doesn’t know if she’s going to be able to pull through this since she won’t eat and barely even looks at him. EJ adds that Holly stopped by and Nicole snapped at her. EJ wants to be there for Nicole but he doesn’t want to push. EJ tells Chad that he doesn’t know how to help Nicole. Chad tells EJ that when he lost Abigail, he was in shock for the first few days and there was nothing that anyone could have said or done to make any difference. Chad says he was oblivious and just wanted to be left the hell alone as he was mired in grief and didn’t want to be rescued from it, so he shut himself off to the world and everyone, including the people he loves. Chad states that is what Nicole is doing now and encourages EJ to just give it time. Chad says that when Nicole is ready, she’ll let him know and then he will be there for her and strong for the both of them. EJ hopes he’s right.

Eric sits at Nicole’s side and tells her that he’s so sorry for her loss. Nicole informs Eric that she asked him to stay because he’s a man of God and she needs to know why this happened. Nicole asks why God would bless her with a child and let her carry him for all these months, just to rip him away. Eric tells Nicole that there isn’t an answer, so they just have to believe it’s God’s will and they have to trust those that love them. Eric assures Nicole that it’s not her fault and she’s not alone. Eric hugs Nicole as she cries.

Melinda asks Sloan if it bothers her that Eric went to go see Nicole. Sloan admits that it does, but says it’s not that she’s jealous. Melinda says Eric is just comforting her. Sloan points out that it’s over something that she did. Melinda calls guilt a waste of time, stating that they made a decision and there’s no going back. Melinda insists that EJ and Nicole will eventually adjust to this new reality. Melinda talks them up as rich and powerful, so they won’t wallow in misery forever as they have too much to live for. Melinda points out that it’s not like Nicole is childless since she still has her daughter.

Holly apologizes to Johnny for making this all about her. Johnny assures her that her mom loves her and that bringing her pizza was very thoughtful and caring which is who she is. Holly thanks Johnny and says she doesn’t know what she’d do without him right as Chanel returns to the room. Holly greets Chanel and says she didn’t realize she was home. Chanel says she just got back and she’s sorry about what happened with Nicole. Chanel tells Holly that she and Johnny were just about to make dinner to bring to Nicole if she wants in on that. Johnny informs Chanel that Holly just said Nicole doesn’t have much of an appetite so they can save that idea for another day. Holly says she’s just going to go upstairs and listen to music. Johnny tells her that she’s welcome to stay and hang out with them if she wants. Holly says that’s okay and thanks him for the pep talk, assuring that she’s feeling better. Holly then heads upstairs. Johnny tells Chanel that Holly is so upset about her mom, so he hopes that he helped. Chanel assures that he did because when she walked in, it looked like Holly’s mind was on something other than her mom. Johnny asks what she means. Chanel then informs him that she thinks Holly has a crush on him.

Chad knows EJ is focused on Nicole, but asks if he’s taking care of himself. EJ responds that he’s fine but Chad disagrees, acknowledging that he just lost his baby. EJ then admits he’s not fine but he’s not grieving because he hasn’t fully processed that his son is gone. EJ feels it just seems too cruel that an innocent baby could have his life taken away like that. EJ calls it so strange and terribly sad that the baby existed in the world and he never even had the chance to meet him. Chad reminds EJ that he went through the same thing with his daughter, Grace, and how he never got the chance to be a father to her. Chad can’t help but think that if he just got to meet her and spend a little time with her, it would’ve brought some comfort to be able to carry a memory of her. EJ says he would’ve given anything for that, to hold his son in his arms and tell him that he loves him but now that’s just a fantasy.

Sloan tells Melinda that she’s already in love with the baby and comments that it’s almost like he already knows she’s his mom. Melinda encourages her to stay positive because this is now her son, so she and Eric are going to give him a wonderful life. Sloan acknowledges that Melinda has gone so above and beyond for her and she’s so grateful. Melinda responds that she did it because Sloan is her friend and the only friend that she’s had in a really long time. Sloan says that Melinda is kind of her only friend too. Melinda is glad that one of them is getting everything she wants. Sloan agrees that thanks to Melinda and the baby, she does have everything that she wants.

EJ returns to Nicole’s hospital room to find her hugging Eric. Eric stands up and tells EJ that he just stopped by to check on Nicole. Eric offers his condolences to EJ as well. EJ thanks him and says he appreciates him stopping by. Eric then exits the room. Nicole hopes EJ doesn’t think anything. EJ says she doesn’t have to explain and wants her to know that he’s here for her too, if and when she needs him.

Harris tells Ava that EJ may have it out for her, but she has the truth on her side. Ava says he has a lot more faith in the justice system than she does. Harris reveals that he may have some good news for her case since he had a bad feeling about Gil since day one, so he did a background check and found that he has a record. Ava asks if it was sexual assault. Harris says it was a drug offense which Ava feels doesn’t compare to her past as a mafia princess. Harris gets a text from the CSI team at her place and hopes it’s good news. Harris says he will keep her updated and exits the room. Ava’s phone then rings with a call from Statesville Prison. Ava then answers the call.

Johnny questions what makes Chanel think Holly has a crush on him. Chanel jokes about how Holly was hovering off the ground and staring in to his eyes. Johnny jokes about being irresistible and promises that Holly doesn’t have eyes for him, pointing out that she’s his little sister now that his parents are married. Chanel asks if he’s sure that Holly feels that way about him. Johnny assures that he is as he reveals that Holly told him that she had a crush on EJ right before the wedding. Johnny asks Chanel not to say anything since Holly said she’s over it and would be mortified if he told anyone. Chanel asks if he’s sure that her crush was on EJ and not him. Johnny insists that he’s positive.

EJ tells Nicole that Chad stopped by to offer his condolences as he only just found out today. Nicole questions EJ not telling him last night. EJ notes that Chad did ask why he never called, but he just said they were busy with a lot going on which is a half truth. EJ then admits that he didn’t call Chad because he feared that talking about it would make it real. Nicole cries that she knows exactly what he means as they hug.

Melinda gives the baby his bottle and jokes that now it’s time for her to have her bottle. Melinda talks about being so impressed with how good the baby was with Sloan and how excited Sloan is to bring him home to his dad. Melinda declares that they are going to have a beautiful family, as long as Sloan’s guilty conscience doesn’t torpedo the entire plan.

Eric goes home to Sloan. Sloan talks about mentally preparing herself and asks how Nicole is. Eric says she is as heartbroken as expected. Sloan says she feels really bad for her. Eric says he does too as he doesn’t know how Nicole is going to get through this one. Sloan then tells Eric that she went to see Melinda and there’s something he needs to know.

Interview with Gary Anthony Sturgis

TV Interview!

Gary Anthony Sturgis plays warlock Julius on "Wicked City" on ALLBLK

Interview with Gary Anthony Sturgis of “Wicked City” on ALLBLK by Suzanne 11/20/23

I had a blast chatting with Gary! He is so funny, smart and entertaining, and he loves to talk. We’ve been Facebook friends for 14 years, so it was great to finally “meet” face to face. He’s been in many great shows and movies. Not only is he a talented actor, he’s also an accomplished writer!

MORE INFO:

Gary Anthony Sturgis plays warlock Julius on "Wicked City" on ALLBLKGary Anthony Sturgis is a New Orleans born actor/writer/director best-known for his portrayal of the villain in two of Tyler Perry’s biggest hit films, “Diary of A Mad Black Woman” (as Jamison Jackson) and “Daddy’s Little Girls” (as Joseph Woods). He also co-starred opposite Terrence Howard in “Pride”, as the charming yet sinister pimp/drug dealer Franklin Washington. Recently, he has stepped out the role of bad guy to co-star in the comedy “Chicago Pulaski Jones” with Kel Mitchell and Cedric the Entertainer.

Also a professional voice artist, Sturgis has voiced network promos for UPN, CBS, PBS and ABC, cartoons and video games (Static Shock, Batman, Scooby Doo and The Cyber Chase, Fairly Odd Parents, Spiderman) and is heard on countless commercials for radio and television. His raspy bass-baritone voice that the women find hard to resist has even been heard on national movie trailers and promotions for; “Bones”, “Two Can Play That Game”, “The Others”, “The Brothers” and “The Wood” to name a select few. In addition, he is also the voice for the History Channel’s “K-9 Cops”. For another surprise, Gary also produces and writes rap music and has a successful recording under the moniker Illuminati called Fahrenheit, which is still available on iTunes.

As a writer/producer, Gary is producing some of his own feature-length screenplays (he has written more than ten), and has packaged his works into three and four picture deals and commenced to shopping them around town for financing and distribution. We have only scratched the surface of this multi-faceted creative soul.

Since Sturgis had been writing for years, the next natural progression was to direct. After directing “Lend A Hand”, a 90-second short film for the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), Gary realized that directing was yet another feather he could stick in his talented cap.

Adam: I know that you will never believe that I could put genuine concern for our father above everything else.

Nick: Never really given me any reason to believe that.

Adam: Really? I’ve never done anything for this family? For your family? Like, donate a kidney to your daughter.

Nick: Yes, Adam. I remember that.

Adam: Yeah, and as far as Victor is concerned, I took a bullet for him. But the world seems to forget about that, too.

Nick: It was a long time ago.

Adam: I’ll tell that to my scar. Okay, you can think what you want, Nick, but I’m concerned about our father. He’s a judgmental, withholding, egomaniac and the thought of him slipping away like this? No, I’m not gonna let that happen without a fight.

****************************

Sharon: You girls have been so brave through this whole process. You have been warriors for your daughter. I can understand you feeling nervous and afraid, but don’t forget to let yourself feel the hope and optimism too. I mean, it’s perfectly natural that you would be going through a range of emotions, but let’s just tackle the specifics. What are you really worried about?

Tessa: I mean, uh, what if Aria doesn’t like the hearing aids? It’s not like we can explain it to her.

Sharon: Well, she might not like them. That’s true. But she’ll get used to them, just like with a sippy cup. Remember? It was only bottles for a while and now she does both.

Mariah: Yeah, that’s true. It’s just, she might grow up feeling different, and that’s so hard.

Sharon: It is. But you’re gonna do everything you can to make her feel less different. And you know what I found online?

Tessa: What?

Sharon: Baby dolls with hearing aids.

[ All laughing ]

Tessa: Oh, God. That’s brilliant. Of course.

Mariah: Yeah.

Sharon: See? There are lots of kids and parents in the same situation as you all.

Mariah: Yeah. No. I know. Of course, we know that.

Sharon: Find that community for Aria and for yourself. There are so many, many amazing success stories to be inspired by. You’ll find the encouragement and the support you need there. You can take this journey with others who are in the same situation that you are in. And you know what? You’re gonna do whatever you have to do to make Aria feel more comfortable, whatever the situation.”.

Billy: We’re gonna talk directly, Kyle. Because jack has been playing the go-between for a while now and I don’t think it’s fair.

Kyle: Well, you seem agitated. What exactly are you accusing me of?

Billy: Coming after my job? You made it clear to Jack that you won’t return to jabot unless it’s in the co-CEO position.

Kyle: Yeah, that– that’s right. I have. I’m guessing you don’t think I deserve it.

Billy: Whether you deserve it or not is irrelevant.

Kyle: Why is that?

Billy: Because it’s my job. I am the co-CEO of Jabot. Jack trusts me and I am loyal to him and to the company that my father built. And I’m doing a damn good job and I’m not going anywhere.

************************

Tucker: Yeah, I figured it was the best thing. We were married all of five minutes.

Ashley: True. Boy, did we have some fun in those five minutes? Didn’t we not have fun in those five minutes? Anyway, I know I’ve said it before, but I am sorry for my part in how this all didn’t work out for us and, uh, it just seems like such a waste that we have to act like strangers now, Tucker.

Tucker: Do you want to be friends now?

Ashley: Oh, I don’t know. We, you know– can’t we be two people that have been through a lot of stuff together and then maybe there can be some kind of commonality? I don’t know.

Tucker: I don’t see that happening.

Ashley: Okay. Well, then maybe we can be two people that can be in the same room with each other without causing each other pain. I mean, we do share a grandchild, remember?

Tucker: I don’t trust you anymore. I don’t trust your motives anymore.

Jack: That would be the third time that you’ve moved those.

Diane: This is my first thanksgiving as your wife in your family home.

Jack: In our family home.

Diane: Well, I just want it to be perfect.

Jack: No one is keeping score. It’s thanksgiving day, the one day of the year we set judgments aside, we put battles on hold, and we come together in gratitude and unity. What could be better than that?

Diane: Have you met your sister?

Jack: Oh.

Diane: Last year at this time, she was on a mission to run me out of town.

Jack: But on the day of thanks, when the whole family was here, she showed restraint.

Diane: Well, a little. And only with a lot of arm twisting on your part. I mean, I was scared during the meal that she would stab me with a fork.

Jack: But she didn’t, and that’s the magic of the holiday.

Diane: [Laughs]

Jack: Hey, think about it. Think about how much things have changed between the two of you since twelve months ago.

Ashley: Things have changed for whom? You mean diana and me?

Jack: I was just reflecting on how your relationship has progressed.

Ashley: Yeah, I suppose that’s true. I mean, who would have guessed that I would owe you a debt of gratitude, diane, for saving my life. Although I still think there’s a part of you that would have preferred me to choke to death on a grape.

Diane: [Chuckles]

Ashley: Huh?

Diane: Course not. Of course not. And besides, jack’s right. We’re on the same team now.

Ashley: Another one of those things that nobody would believe, even me.

Jack: We’re all working toward the same goal– protecting jabot from a possible attack from your about-to-be-ex-husband.

Ashley: I know. I know. Two other things I couldn’t possibly imagine happening– that I’d actually marry tucker and then leave him on our honeymoon

Jack: Because of your incredible loyalty to this family that brought on your realization that tucker is the ass we all thought he was.

Ashley: Okay! All right. Thank you so much for that.

Jack: Look, can we just not talk about tucker or what he has planned for one day? Just focus on the things for which we are grateful.

Ashley: Right. Um… I’d actually like to invite tucker for thanksgiving dinner.

Audra: Yeah, I was surprised you reached out. After the way we left things, I wasn’t sure I’d ever hear from you again.

Kyle: Yeah, I think my emotions got the better of me last time we spoke. We both did.

Audra: Yeah, you’re right. I was a little hesitant to meet with you today. I wasn’t sure what I’d be walking into.

Kyle: I think we had too much of a connection to leave things the way we did.

Audra: Huh. So, now is when you tell me, in a less emotional way, why you backed out of a plan you agreed to only a few days ago.

Kyle: No.

Audra: Because I don’t need to be let down gently, kyle. I prefer the direct approach. So tell me– what’s on your mind?

Kyle: I want back in.

Victoria: Mom, hi. I hope you’re having a good visit with aunt casey. Give her my love. Look, I don’t want to interrupt your quality sister time, but would you give me a call when you get a chance? I could really use your advice.

Nikki: Water. Thank god. How much vodka did she pop into me? Haven’t felt like this in a long, long time. I never wanted to ever again. Claire! Why are you doing this to me?

Nikki: No. No, I can’T. Why is she doing this to me? Claire, or whoever she is, she wants me to suffer. She knows my weakness. No, not weakness. Disease. It’s a disease. Okay. You know how to do this. One day at a time. One minute… at a time.

Claire: Oh, mrs. Newman, I’m so sorry.

Victoria: No. That’s okay, claire. I thought you were headed out west with my mother. Something about going to see your aunt?

Claire: I came back to get some work, but, uh…

Victoria: What is it? What’s wrong?

Claire: It’s your mother.

[Knock at door]

Victor: Yes, come in.

Victoria: Something’s happened with mom.

Victor: What do you mean?

Victoria: Clair flew back to grab some work from the office, but then she got a call from her aunt in oregon.

Victor: What is it?

Claire: Nikki had some kind of seizure this morning.

Victor: What?

Claire: I don’t know much, but apparently she collapsed, and jordan called an ambulance. She’s been taken to the hospital.

Victor: Oh, my god. Get the jet ready. We’re taking off very soon, okay? Just get it ready. What is the nearest airport?

Claire: Redmond.

Victor: Redmond, oregon.

Victoria: I’m coming with you. We can grab nick on the way to the airport.

Audra: Kyle, you were adamant about wanting in on the plan, and then in a complete reversal, you were just as adamant about not betraying your family. You’re making me dizzy.

Kyle: I was working through it.

Audra: You accused me of using you.

Kyle: You called me a coward.

Audra: Okay, well, why would you even consider working with me?

Kyle: To get what I want,

Audra: Which is?

Kyle: Jabot. I want to be co-ceo.

Audra: [Scoffs] Help me understand, because you made it very clear you didn’t want it this way.

Kyle: [Sighs] If I told you I was willing to betray my family and stab my father in the back… would you believe it?

Audra: Why should I believe you’re not gonna change your mind again? You know, tucker thinks you can’t commit and follow through.

Kyle: Well, tucker’s wrong, and I have the evidence to prove it.

Tucker: Evidence to prove what?

Tucker: Okay, so what is this evidence to prove you are sincere in wanting to join us?

Ashley [Recorded]: I know that tucker needs and wants devon’s love and approval more than anything. And devon needs and wants a relationship with his father. I don’t see anything wrong with nudging that in the right direction. And just listen. Full disclosure– if all this “kumbaya” means that tucker decides to back off of jabot, wouldn’t that be wonderful? Wouldn’t it? It could actually happen. Because nobody can tap into tucker’s humanity like devon.

Tucker: This isn’t news. I assumed ashley was trying to manipulate me.

Kyle: But you were hoping it wasn’t true.

Tucker: I don’t know how my hopes or desires are relevant here.

Kyle: The point is, ashley is using your hopes and desires to her advantage.

Tucker: No, it sounds to me like she still thinks she can turn me into a better man. But even if you’re right, what does that prove?

Kyle: That I would throw my aunt under the bus to show whose side I’m on.

Audra: It was a dirty move. Sneaky, even. I’m impressed.

Tucker: I see. Dirty and sneaky kyle abbott.

[Chuckles, snorts] I didn’t think you had it in you.

Jack: Inviting tucker to our family thanksgiving dinner.

Diane: You’re not serious.

Ashley: All right, let me rephrase that. Not for dinner. Just here for a drink along with devon.

Jack: So you’re helping him get in touch with his humanity?

Ashley: Yes, exactly.

Jack: He never had any to begin with.

Diane: Yeah, talk about spoiling the mood.

Ashley: I thought you were my ally. What happened to being on board?

Diane: Well, it happens to be thanksgiving. It runs the risk–

Jack: Of destroying the day. Why would he even agree to this?

Ashley: Because of devon. I mean, obviously, tucker’s probably going to be alone on the most family holiday of all the holidays. He’s going to be miserable. Maybe he’ll be more vulnerable.

Jack: Good. Tucker will be sad. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. No, I’m putting my foot down. This is not going to happen. You can get together with tucker and devon and work your magic. Obviously, I can’t talk you out of it, but not here, not today.

Ashley: Jack.

Diane: I have to agree.

Ashley: You mean the two of you can’t put aside your dislike for this person the way I have? Honestly, for a greater good?

Jack: You’re asking us to ruin a family celebration by having that man in this house and pretending to be civil. It’s not going to happen.

Nick: Have you heard anything from mom?

Victor: She’s just not answering my calls.

Claire: I’ve been trying to reach my aunt jordan for an update, but she’s not picking up either.

Victoria: Maybe that means she’s bringing mom back from the hospital.

Victor: Wait a minute.

Nikki: Is that the jet? Is it ready?

Victor: Just a second. What do you mean, not ready yet?

Victoria: What?

Victor: Why in half an hour? Get it ready. We’ve got to get out of here.

Victoria: That’s too long. I feel like we need to be there now. Mom needs us.

Victor: Sweetheart…

Victoria: I can’t stand this.

Victor: It’s gonna be all right, okay? Everything will be all right.

Nikki: What kind of person does this? Get rid of it. Pour it out. You know where this will end if you don’T. Oh.

[Gasps, sniffles]

[Teary] Oh, god…

[Sobs] What have I done?

[Crying] God help me!

[Crying continues]

Victoria: Now claire, your aunt said nikki had a seizure?

Claire: Yes.

Victor: What else did she say?

Claire: Not much. She was focused on getting nikki help.

Victoria: She must have said more or given you some idea of what she’s dealing with. What did she actually see?

Claire: She said nikki started twitching. She got dizzy, and then her arms started jerking like they were out of her control. And then she collapsed.

Victoria: She collapsed? It sounds like it could have been related to the ms, especially if she was tired from the trip.

Victor: Okay, listen, we need to relay that information to the medical team. What’s the name of the hospital?

Claire: I don’t know. There aren’t any near the lake house.

Nikki: Didn’t you say your aunt suffered some kind of fall?

Victor: Where was she treated?

Claire: There’s a retired doctor who lives on the lake. He looks after aunt jordan because she hates hospitals. I should have found out where they were going. I heard “hospital,” and I didn’t get more information. I’m so sorry. I was just so upset that I wasn’t thinking.

Victor: I understand, but it’s imperative that you get ahold of your aunt, okay? We need to tell your aunt about nikki’s medical condition of multiple sclerosis. Do you understand? It could potentially be very, very dangerous. So call her again right now.

Tucker: Well, this was a promising start.

Audra: I’m assuming you’ve given some thought as to how you might help us achieve our goal.

Kyle: I played the role of the prodigal son. Told my father I accepted his position to be coo of jabot.

Tucker: Smart move.

Kyle: I want to show I’m a team player willing to put the family above my own personal ambition.

Audra: You sure he believed it?

Kyle: Oh, I know he did, because he wanted to. It’s a weakness too easily exploited.

Tucker: Is this the student trying to school the master now?

Kyle: Oh, no, this is a partner-to-partner observation.

Tucker: We’re not partners yet.

Audra: All right, well, we all need to be convincing and effective for this to work.

Tucker: I agree. So as coo, you’ll be on the inside of jabot where you can gather information.

Kyle: Exactly what kind of info are you looking for?

Tucker: Anything I can use to damage the company, destroy it from the inside.

Kyle: Is that supposed to be a joke?

Tucker: No, that’s what you’re signing on for.

Kyle: See, I want to run the company. There’s not a lot of incentive for me if there’s no company left to run, tucker.

Audra: I think “destroy” is too strong a word.

Tucker: Sorry. Would “cripple” be better?

Audra: Yeah, better. Look, right now the company is too financially stable. It could weather any kind of storm we could create. You do see that, right?

Kyle: Oh, I see, but I’m not saying I agree with it.

Tucker: Kyle, in order to put you in charge, I need control of the company. To get control of the company, I need leverage. Without some kind of, uh, some kind of damage or crisis at jabot, I don’t have that.

Kyle: Oh, I understand.

Tucker: Is this going to be a problem for you?

Jack: Just one tucker-free day, is that too much to ask?

Ashley: Jack, I think you can survive it for the sake of our family and the family’s company, okay?

Diane: I doubt tucker would even want to come,

Jack: Or devon, for that matter. I’m sure he has plenty of plans for the family he does love.

Ashley: Just one drink. Why are you fighting me on this?

Jack: Because thanksgiving should mean something. Thanksgiving is about family, ashley. I am grateful that you are here. For a time here, it looked like that wasn’t going to happen, things were so bad between us. I would like to be grateful all day that you are here.

Ashley: Okay, okay. But there are some things that are more important, jack, than just sitting together at a table, eating tons of turkey and then wanting to take a nap.

Jack: You’re missing my point. Today is about family. We need to value that. Can’t we just come together, enjoy each other’s company? This is about a family tradition we’re trying to keep going. There are far too few of those.

Ashley: I know. I know. Listen, I’m really grateful to you for always trying to keep these family traditions going. Honestly, thank you.

Jack: What do you think dad would do?

Ashley: I think he’d agree with me. I really do. And if you don’t agree with me to let tucker and devon come here for one quick drink, I’ll go to the club. I’ll meet them there.

Jack: You would really do that?

Ashley: Accept my other option, jack.

Diane: Ashley, ashley, I’d really like to have you here.

Ashley: And I want to be here, and I will be for part of it, I promise. But this is something that I have to do. It just is.

Jack: I’m not going to stand here and argue with you. That’s the last thing I want to do, especially today.

Ashley: Good.

Jack: So you’re gonna go through with this? You’re gonna spend part of thanksgiving with the most despicable man in genoa city.

Ashley: And his son, hopefully.

Jack: Why are you so damn stubborn?

Jack: Why are you such a control freak? It’s for the good of the family.

Jack: I know that. Doesn’t mean I have to like it. I still worry about you.

Ashley: I’ll be fine.

Jack: You will be missed.

Ashley: Just think of the opportunity to talk about me behind my back. That’s the real family tradition.

Jack: Be careful. Look, I got to check on things in the kitchen, okay?

Ashley: Come here. Happy thanksgiving.

Jack: Happy thanksgiving.

[Both sigh]

Ashley: Honestly. Thank you for what you said. That was very sweet.

Diane: Oh, well, I meant it. I wanted this to be our first family thanksgiving together without so much animosity.

[Both chuckle]

Ashley: Right. Yeah. I’ll be back, you know? I’m not gonna be gone that long. You understand why I’m doing this, right? You see the logic?

Diane: Oh, I–I do. It’s just there could be a problem with your plan.

Kyle: That’s a sound strategy if properly executed.

Tucker: And are you willing to be a part of it?

Audra: Dismantling your family’s company?

Kyle: Well, I have to be, in order for it to work.

Tucker: Why is that?

Kyle: You want to weaken the company without destroying it beyond repair. That requires intel only someone from the inside can deliver. Timing is everything.

Audra: Hmm. He makes a good point.

Kyle: And I don’t trust you. Either of you. No offense.

Audra: None taken.

Kyle: Look, you’re hurt. Part of you wants to hurt back. You want to punish ashley and all the people important to her. My family. I can see that.

Tucker: Cool. Did you get that from your freshman psychology class? I know more about you than you think, kyle. I always will. Don’t forget that. So, just so we understand, you are joining us, yes?

Kyle: Well, I’m not gonna let you burn it down out of spite. But I want to run the company, and this is the only way that’s going to happen. So, yes, I am in.

Tucker: Very good. I’m glad you found some clarity.

Kyle: Don’t make the mistake of playing me, and everyone will get what they want. Do we understand each other?

Tucker: I think so. Welcome aboard, again.

Kyle: Well, you don’t have to question my commitment to all this.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. You should run along back to thanksgiving right now. Keep playing the prodigal son, grateful to be back in their good graces and all that.

Kyle: I can handle it.

Tucker: Okay. I’ll be in touch.

Audra: I’ll walk out with you. I’m glad you’re back.

Kyle: Yeah. Tucker must be pleased with your efforts.

Audra: You don’t seem very happy for a man who’s about to get everything he wants.

Kyle: Audra, don’t try to manage me.

Audra: I’m not asking you to trust me, kyle. You know, in fact, I find it rather appealing you don’T. We’re talking about self-interest here. There’s nothing in it for me if tucker burns it down. Like you, I need this to succeed.

Kyle: Hmm, but it’s tucker I’ll be handing the means to cripple the company.

Audra: And when we gain control, we will build it back even better and stronger. This is what tucker does best.

Kyle: Hmm. That’s why I’m putting up with him. Well, with both of you. It’s clear who I’m dealing with.

Jordan: Claire?

Claire: Yes, it’s me, aunt jordan. I’m so glad you picked up.

Jordan: I just got back from the hospital. Understand?

Claire: Yes, I’m here with mr. Newman and two of his children. They’re very worried.

Jordan: As they should be.

Claire: He’s very eager to talk to you.

Victor: Hi, this is victor newman. If you’re on medicare, remember, the annual enrollment period is here. The time to choose your coverage begins october 15th and ends december 7th. So call unitedhealthcare and see how you can get more of what matters, with our broad range of plans including an aarp medicare advantage plan from unitedhealthcare. It can combine your hospital and doctor coverage

Jordan: Mr. Victor newman. I can’t believe it.

Victor: Well, thank you for helping my wife.

Jordan: What was that? Hello? Oh, this cell service is just so awful. Can you hear me?

Victor: I said thank you for helping my wife.

Jordan: That’s not something you need to thank anyone for. But she did give me a scare.

Victor: Please tell me how she is.

Jordan: The doctors are tending to her.

Victor: Ok, listen carefully. You must tell them that my wife has ms, multiple sclerosis. Very important you tell them.

Jordan: [Chuckles] Well, you’ll be happy to know that the doctors were smart enough to figure out that’s what was ailing her, mr. Newman.

Victor: Well, I’m very relieved to hear that.

Jordan: It is a great relief, isn’t it?

Victoria: So the seizure was brought on by the ms.

Victor: So she is responding well to the medication?

Jordan: They gave her some epilepsy medication, and, um, what was the name of it? Oh, I can’t remember. But, um… anyhow, it seems to be working, and she was over the episode rather quickly.

Victor: Well, that’s good news.

Jordan: They’re going to keep her overnight. They want to make sure that there are no chances taken. And since I do live in such a remote area.

Victor: We’ll be leaving here shortly. We are flying into redmond. We should be there in a few hours.

Jordan: Oh, goodness, it is handy having those private jets, isn’t it?

Victor: Now what is the name of the hospital?

Jordan: Hello?

Victor: Hello?

Jordan: Hello? Oh, no, not again.

Victor: Can you give me the name of the hospital?

Jordan: Oh, this service is breaking up again. Mr. Newman? Hello?

Victor: Hello? Are you there?

Victor: [Sighs] The call dropped.

Claire: The service can be terrible out there.

Nick: Well, mom’s okay, that’s the only thing that matters.

Victoria: What else did she say?

Victor: Well, they gave her some epilepsy medication, and apparently the seizure stopped.

Victoria: [Sighs] Thank god.

Nikki: Thanks to your aunt.

Victor: We owe her a tremendous debt of gratitude.

Claire: I’m sure she doesn’t see it that way.

Victor: Well, I’m looking forward to thanking her in person, okay?

Diane: Ashley, I–I do, I understand the logic of what you want to do, how it makes sense to take advantage of the emotions that the holiday brings up.

Ashley: Right, right, because tucker talks a good game, but he– well, like I told you, he wants devon’s love and approval.

Diane: Family connection.

Ashley: Yeah, and that’s why I thought today was a good day to try to get the whole process started, of getting, you know, tucker and devon back on track.

Diane: Well, I–I get that. I’m just asking that you don’t sacrifice the whole day for tucker. Look, it means a lot to jack to have you here for thanksgiving dinner. And believe it or not, it means a lot to me, too. Look, there’s no angle, no secret agenda, I just… I just love your brother. I love his devotion to family, and… I love that harrison is growing up, you know, feeling a part of it and having these traditions.

[Sighs] I mean, last year at this time, jack had recently learned that he had another grandchild.

Ashley: Yeah. Yeah, it’s a shame allie can’t be here. She’s off in paris pursuing her dreams.

Diane: Well, life does that. It pulls us in different directions, and I think that’s why this holiday is just so important.

Ashley: Seems like you really mean what you’re saying.

Diane: I do mean what I’m saying. And that’s why I hope you’ll be back in time for dinner, because… I just think the table would feel a little empty without you.

[Door opens, closes]

Ashley: Thank you.

Kyle: Wow. Smells delicious in here. How are the preparations coming?

Ashley: Your mother has, um, decorated the room in such a way that martha stewart would be jealous. Anyway, um, I gotta get ready.

Kyle: Okay. See you later. Wow, mom.

Diane: Yeah.

Kyle: [Chuckles] Uh… where’s dad?

Diane: He’s in the kitchen checking on things, but don’t worry. I’m sure mrs. Martinez is about to kick him out.

Kyle:, Oh, well, I met with audra.

Diane: Yeah?

Kyle: Yeah. Tucker showed up. Couldn’t have worked out better.

Diane: Really? What happened?

Kyle: I told them I reconsidered their plan to take over jabot.

Diane: Do you think tucker believed you?

Kyle: Oh, I’m in. I think you’re right about how I have to handle this.

Tucker: Hey, devon, period. Can we fix this, question mark. Can we try, question mark. I would love to spend thanksgiving with you, period.

[Door thuds, footsteps approach]

Audra: [Sighs] Well, looks like it’s just you and me.

Tucker: Hmm. Just the way I like it. I must say, I never understood the appeal of thanksgiving. Turkey sucks. It’s always dry. And nobody does the mashed potatoes right. They’re dry, too. It’s like hospital food, right? You want to go upstairs?

Audra: Tucker, no.

Tucker: Not that. Up to the dining room. Buy you a burger and a bourbon.

Audra: Oh. Yeah, sure.

Tucker: Geez. Your mind’s in the gutter these days.

Audra: Yeah, well, I’ve been spending way too much time with you.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. Hey, wait a second.

Kyle: I’m going to do this on my own. I can handle it. I’m going to undercut tucker, eliminate the threat, and then I’m going to make this my gift to dad.

Diane: Good for you.

Jack: Mother and son, a welcome sight on this family holiday. Ashley leave?

Diane: No, she went upstairs. I did my best to try to convince her to make it back for dinner, but I don’t know. Who knows?

Jack: Well, I appreciate the effort. I really do believe in the tradition of thanksgiving.

Kyle: You don’t have to convince us. We know how important this day is to you. And I love how harrison knows this is your favorite holiday.

Jack: I just wanted us all to be together. I cannot believe tucker is still invading our lives.

Kyle: Yeah, let’s forget all about tucker mccall. He has nothing to do with this family. Today should be about us, the abbotts.

Claire: Still no service.

Victoria: Oh, my god. Is it always like this?

Claire: It’s worse this time of year when the weather’s bad.

Victoria: I didn’t know that mom was gonna be in such a remote location.

Claire: Most people move to this part of the state because they want to be off the grid.

Nikki: You must worry about your aunt living out there all alone.

Claire: She’s one of the most capable people I know. But sometimes, yes, I do.

Victor: Hello? Hello? Let’s go.

[Sharp pop]

Nikki: Who’s there? Claire? Who’s there?

[Knock on door]

Man: Hello? Nikki? Victoria?

[Insistent knocking]

Cole: Nikki? It’s cole. I got your text about victoria. Is she all right?

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

[sighs] Yeah, Dad’s at the hospital with Nicole.

[soft music] Yeah, they’re both taking it pretty hard. No, no, no, I don’t think you’d be intruding at all. I’m sure Dad would, uh… he’d love to hear from you.

[chuckles] Okay. Love you, too, Syd.

[phone beeps]

Surprise.

[both chuckle]

Hey. Oh, man. Did you, uh– did you just get back?

Yeah, plane landed a couple hours ago.

Well, I am very glad to see you. I missed you.

I missed you, too.

So… how’s Lani?

She’s good, considering. Uh, but she’s still on track to be released at the end of the year.

That’s great.

How was your dad’s wedding? I’m so sorry I missed it.

Uh, yeah, the wedding was–was fine, But, um… I have some pretty bad news. Uh… something terrible happened to my dad and Nicole last night.

[monitor beeping]

I, um… I just spoke with Rafe. They–they still haven’t found Dimitri, which is of no surprise given the shameful incompetence of the Salem PD. But I promise you, I will not let this go. My bastard nephew will be brought to justice.

What difference does it make, EJ? Nothing matters now. My baby’s gone, and nothing’s going to bring him back.

[grunts] How’s the baby?

[scoffs] In better shape than I am. Kid’s got lungs like Pavarotti. Kept me up half the night.

Well, you don’t think he’s sick, do you? Does he have a fever?

Sloan, he’s a newborn. Crying is, like, his only skill. It’s practically his job. Just relax, okay?

Sorry. Not normally such a loon.

Oh, I’d only be worried if you weren’t a loon. It’s your first time being a mom.

Yeah… and my first time stealing another woman’s child.

Hey, I thought we were going to focus on the positive.

Okay. Okay. Pierce, Dr. Pierce, did he say anything about Nicole? How’d she take the news?

That is hardly focusing on the positive. But, no, he didn’t say anything about Nicole, and I didn’t ask either.

[scoffs] Yeah, well, it was a stupid question anyway. I’m sure she’s devastated about the baby, and it’s all my fault.

[dramatic music]

I mean it, Gil. Stop it right there, or I will end you.

I don’t think you will.

Hey, Ava. It’s Harris. I know I’m a little early.

[gunshot] Ava? Ava?

[both breathing heavily] Ava, what happened?

He’s dead. I killed him.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[dramatic music]

You’re definitely right. He’s dead.

Oh, God.

It’s okay. Come here. Sit down.

[sighs]

Okay, uh, this is the second body I found in this apartment. Am I right to assume this is not connected to Li’s death?

Yeah, you’re right to assume.

Ava, Ava, do you want to tell me what happened?

He just, um… He–he showed up– up at my door, just–just out of the blue.

Okay. Just going to put the gun down. Let go. It’s okay. You want to tell me why… Gil showed up at your door?

Gil, what do you want?

A key.

A key? Right. Oh, you need one to the employee restroom?

[chuckles] It’s not for the restaurant. It’s for the Salem PD evidence room.

Are you kidding? Why?

Apparently one of our lower-level dealers got arrested last night with a certain amount of product on him. Now, he knows better than to flip, but you know how it goes.

[breathes deeply] Cops start poking around, could broaden the investigation, so the evidence needs to disappear.

So why you coming to me with this? How am I supposed to get it?

From your detective boyfriend, of course.

He wanted something from me.

What? What’d he want?

Uh, Eric’s home, so I got to go. Okay.

[phone beeps]

Hey.

Hey.

Who was on the phone?

Melinda. I called her to check in on our son. We still don’t have an exact date yet for his arrival, but it should be soon. And I’m very excited.

[chuckles]

Who’s devastated?

What?

Well, you said something about someone being devastated and it’s all your fault.

Oh. Well, yes, I just– I didn’t really want to bother you with it, but Melinda was saying that– she said that the birth mother is having a difficult time with her decision to give up her child.

Is–is she backing out of the adoption?

No, no, no. She knows it’s for the best. And she’s absolutely going through with it. She’s just… You know, it’s difficult for her, as you can imagine.

Yeah.

And I just–

[sighs] I can’t help but feeling… Really guilty.

Hey. You know what? You have nothing to feel guilty about. You and I, we are going to give this baby a wonderful life.

Yeah.

Is there anything I can do to make you feel more comfortable? Uh, another pillow? Another blanket? I could give you one of your favorite foot massages.

No.

[monitor beeping]

[door opens]

Hey, Mom. How are you? I thought you might be sick of hospital food, so I brought you your favorite pizza…

Ooh.

With extra cheese, just the way you like it.

I’m not hungry.

But I heard you haven’t had anything to eat since yesterday. Right, EJ?

That is true, sweetheart.

Mom, you can’t not eat. It’s not good for you. Here, you should at least have one slice.

I said I’m not hungry!

[sighs]

Oh, my God, Johnny. That is so awful. Your poor dad, and–and Nicole– she must be going through it.

Yeah. It’s a…

[inhales deeply] It’s a nightmare. I just wish there was– I don’t know– something I could do.

Yeah. Well, the only thing you can really do in times like this is just be there, right?

Yeah. Yeah, I suppose you’re right.

Hey, w-what if we made dinner for your dad and Nicole and took it over to the hospital? What–what do you think?

Yeah. Yeah, I think that’d be a great idea. I think they’d really appreciate that.

Okay, great. I am going to go to the kitchen and take a sneak peek and see what we can make, okay?

Okay. Hey, come here.

What?

Just come here.

[chuckles]

I just want to– I want to thank you. You just got back, and you’re already jumping in to help my family.

You’re important to me, and so is your family. I’m happy to do it.

And that is why I love you… one of the many reasons.

[soft music]

I-I’m sorry, Mom. I didn’t–I didn’t mean to upset you.

[monitor beeping]

Look, Holly, your mom’s just exhausted, and I think she just needs to rest, okay? Maybe you can come back another time.

Mom, I’ll stop by again tonight.

Thank you for the pizza.

[beeping continues]

[Nicole sniffles] What can I do, darling?

Um, I’m–I’m tired, and I, uh…

[inhales deeply] I just want to sleep.

I’ll be right outside.

[sobbing softly]

[door closes]

You bought five different kinds of diapers?

[both chuckle]

Well, there are so many different styles and brands.

Uh-huh, I’m sure any one of these is going to work just fine. Do you want to start going and, uh, getting that crib set up?

Uh, actually, I was thinking maybe I should go to the hospital, you know, check on Nicole.

Oh.

Hey, are you not okay with that?

No, of course not. Sorry. I mean, yes, I’m–I’m okay. You should go. What happened to Nicole was really terrible.

Yeah, it was. It’s a terrible twist of fate.

[dramatic music]

[sighs] Okay, Ava, talk to me. What did–what did Gil want?

Well, um… Initially, he– he claimed that he– he came here to discuss work, but then he got all handsy with me, and… he started coming on to me in the most…

[chuckles] Disgusting way, and then I realized… what he was really here for.

I can see that your blouse is torn. Did he try to assault you?

Yeah, he did.

[sighs]

[sighs]

[sighs] He just–he just– he just kept getting closer and… and closer, and then–and I tried to– I tried to–to push him away, but he–he wouldn’t, and so then I just… I grabbed his gun and–

Why–why did he have a gun?

I don’t know. I don’t know. All I know–he attacked me, and now he’s…

[breathes shakily] Oh, my God, Harris. Harris, what–what–what– what have I done? Uh, what–what have I done?

It’s okay. It’s okay.

[sobbing]

It’s okay.

[sobbing] I’m so glad you’re here.

I got you.

[sobbing]

I only wish I would have trusted my instincts.

[sobbing] What do you mean?

As soon as I met that guy…

[sniffles]

I knew he was trouble.

You have no idea.

[cries, sighs]

[Harris sighs, Ava sniffles, sighs]

[cell phone clicking]

[dramatic music]

[grunts]

Hey, Holly. How’s your mom?

Uh, awful. She barely acknowledged me when I came in the room today. She was just kind of… staring off into space. I, uh–I tried to get her to eat some pizza, and she totally snapped at me, so EJ told me I should leave. I think I was only there for, like, two minutes.

I’m really sorry that happened to you.

Yeah. She’s… in hell right now, and… I don’t know. I hated seeing my mom that way. She’s always so strong, you know.

Yeah.

Always the one who was helping me, and now… I don’t know how to help her.

Come here.

[sniffles]

[crying]

EJ. Hey, I just heard about the baby. I’m so sorry.

Oh. Thanks. I’m, uh… I’m so glad you’re here.

[sighs]

There you are.

Is he sleeping?

Shh. I just got him down for a nap, finally.

Little angel.

So what happened with Eric? You ended our call so abruptly.

Oh… Yeah, he overheard the end of our conversation, whenever I said, “She must be devastated about the baby, and it’s all my fault.”

Oh, no.

Yeah, but don’t worry. I just–I told him I was talking about the birth mother and that you had said she was having a very hard time with her decision to give up her child.

Oh. And he bought that, huh?

Yeah, he–he did.

So, um, on a happier note, are you and Eric ready to become parents?

[chuckles]

Almost. Eric bought about half the diapers in Salem already.

[laughs] Oh.

So that’s covered. And we’re going to finish the apartment once he gets back from the hospital.

The hospital? What is he doing there?

He’s, uh, visiting Nicole.

[somber music]

[monitor beeping]

Nicole? Just thought I’d stop by, see how you were doing. You know, I can come back another time.

Eric… Don’t go.

[knock at door, door opens]

Oh.

[grunts]

Whoa. Hey.

Hey.

Didn’t mean to startle you.

Don’t, um–

[inhales deeply] Don’t worry about it. My nerves are just… You know, I just–sorry.

No, you don’t–you don’t have to apologize. You’ve been through something really traumatic. But you don’t have to worry about Gil. He can’t hurt you anymore.

[sinister music]

So what? You going to– you’re going to shoot me now?

I don’t know. Depends on whether you make a move.

[sighs] Why don’t you go ahead? Try me. Test me. See how much I want to blow you away.

You don’t want to do that.

You so sure about that?

Yeah. Yeah, because if you shoot me… your son is dead.

You’re wrong. Gil can still hurt me… badly.

Ava, I don’t– I don’t understand. I mean, Gil’s dead. How can he still hurt you?

Look… what if nobody believes me, that I killed in self-defense? I mean, come on, look at my history. And I just got out of a mental institution where I shot someone.

Yeah, also self-defense.

There is no proof of this.

Okay, your sleeve is torn, right? You said the guy was assaulting you.

Yeah.

Right. CSI is combing the scene as we speak. They’re going to find physical evidence to back up your story.

And what if they don’t?

Then you’re going to have to trust the legal system.

Hmm.

Okay. Or at least–at the very least, just trust me. I will find a way to prove that you’re telling the truth… because I believe you.

Gabi trusted the legal system. And her brother, the commissioner, he made promises, too. Where did it get her? She is still sitting in a cell.

Her case has not gone to trial. She could still be found innocent.

No, not with our new DA. EJ hates her guts. And he is going to exploit his power to keep her locked up forever.

[scoffs] And you want to know who EJ hates even more than Gabi? Spoiler alert… it’s me.

[dramatic music]

Why didn’t you call me last night? I would have came over right away.

I’m sorry. Uh…

[sighs] There was just a lot going on. It’s all a–all a bit of a blur, really.

Right. So how are you holding up? I know that’s a stupid question…

[sighs]

With Nicole being in the accident and… and losing… Oh, my God. It’s just…

Yeah. My God. But it’s Nicole I’m worried about. I just don’t know if she’s going to be able to pull through this. She won’t eat. She–she barely even looks at me. And poor Holly– she stopped by, only to have Nicole snap at her.

[somber music] I want to be there for her, but I also don’t want to push. Chad, I don’t know how to help her.

All right, EJ, listen to me, okay? When I lost Abby… I was in shock, you know, in the first few days at least. And there is nothing that anyone could have said or done that would have made any difference.

[sighs]

And everyone was trying to help. I was oblivious. All right, I just wanted to be left the hell alone.

Hmm.

I was mired in grief. And I didn’t want to be rescued from it. I just shut myself off to the world… From everyone… even the people that I love. That’s what Nicole is doing right now. Okay? So you just need to give it time. And when she’s ready, she will let you know. And when she is, you will be there for her. And you will be strong for her… for both of you.

I hope you’re right.

[scoffs]

[monitor beeping]

Nicole… I’m so sorry for your loss.

Eric, I… I asked you to stay… Because I know you’re a man of God. And I need to know why. Why did this happen?

[inhales deeply] Why–why would God bless me with a child… and let me carry him for all these months and love him and give birth to him… And then just rip him away?

[inhales deeply]

I know this isn’t… an answer… Because there isn’t one. It just–

[sighs]

[breathes deeply]

We just got to believe that this is God’s will. And we got to trust those who love us.

[sobbing softly]

Hey…

[cries softly] It’s not your fault. You’re not alone. You, Nicole… are not alone.

[sobbing]

Does it bother you that Eric went to go see Nicole?

Yes. But it’s not that I’m jealous. It’s… it’s not what’s upsetting me now.

Then what is? He’s obviously just there to comfort her.

Over something that I did.

Uh, Sloan, as I’ve told you many times, guilt is corrosive, and it’s a big waste of time. What’s done is done, and we made a decision, and there’s no going back. Look, eventually Nicole and EJ will adjust to this new reality.

You really think so?

Of course they will. They are very privileged people, wealthy and powerful. They’re not going to wallow in misery forever. They have too much to live for. And as far as Nicole…

[scoffs] I don’t want to sound cold, but it’s not like she’s childless, right? She still has her daughter.

[sighs] Sorry. I didn’t mean to make this all about me.

No, hey, it’s all right, okay? Holly… your mom loves you, okay?

[scoffs]

And–and what you did with the pizza, that was very thoughtful and caring, which is not surprising, because that’s– that’s who you are.

You think I’m thoughtful and caring?

I do, because you are.

Thanks, Johnny. I don’t know what I’d do without you.

[sighs]

Hey, I’m not interrupting anything, am I?

No. No, not at all.

Chanel, hi. I-I didn’t realize you were home. I thought you were visiting your sister still.

Oh, I just got back, actually. And Johnny told me about what happened with your mom. I’m so sorry.

Thanks.

Uh, Johnny and I, we were going to make dinner and take it over to your mom at the hospital, if you want in on that. There’s all the ingredients for lasagna.

Actually, um, Holly was just saying that her mom doesn’t have much of an appetite right now. So maybe we save that idea for another day.

Oh, yeah, o-okay.

Yeah.

Um… okay, well, I’m just going to go upstairs and listen to some music or whatever.

You sure? You can–you’re welcome to– I don’t know–stay down here and hang out with us if you want.

Uh, that’s okay. But thanks for the pep talk. I’m feeling better, really.

Good.

Bye.

Oh, God. Holly’s so upset about her mom. I just… I hope I was able to help.

Oh, I-I think you definitely did, because, uh, when I walked in here…

What?

Mm. It seemed like her mind was on something other than her mom.

What’s that mean?

It means I think Holly’s got a crush on you.

[dramatic music]

I know you’re, um, focused on Nicole right now, but what about you? You taking care of yourself?

[slaps knee] I’m fine.

EJ… you’re not fine. You just lost your baby.

Yeah, you’re right. I’m not fine…

[inhales deeply] But nor am I grieving.

[somber music] I don’t know. Maybe because, uh, I haven’t fully processed that my son is gone. It just seems too cruel… That an innocent little baby could have its life taken away like that. That is so strange, so–so terribly sad… That he existed in this world and I never even had a chance to meet him.

[sighs deeply]

[groans softly] You know, I, um… I went through the same thing with Grace. Before I even knew she was my daughter, she left us. I never got to be a… a father to her. I never got that chance. And I can’t help it but– but think that, um… you know, if I just got to… meet her and spend a little time with her, even if–if it was just for a few fleeting seconds that it– that it would have brought… some comfort… To be able to… you know, carry– carry on in memory of her.

Oh…

[inhales deeply] I’d have given anything for that, anything at all. Hold my son in my arms.

[chuckles] Tell him I love him.

[sighs] No, that was a fantasy.

You’re already in love with him, aren’t you?

Totally. The way he’s looking into my eyes right now, it’s almost like he already knows that I’m his mama.

[chuckles] See? I’m being positive.

Good girl. And you have to stay positive because this little one is now your son, and you and Eric are going to give him a wonderful life.

[chuckles]

[baby coos]

You’ve gone so above and beyond for me.

Ah.

I’m so grateful.

Well, I don’t want to get sappy here, but I did it because you’re my friend. In fact, you are… the only friend I’ve had in a very, very long time.

Well… you’re kind of my only friend, too.

[chuckles] I’m just glad that one of us is getting everything that she wants.

Yeah, even if it comes at the expense of other–

Beh.

Yeah, sorry. Sorry.

[chuckles] I’m going to try and focus on the positive and say that… thanks to you… and this beautiful little baby boy… I do have everything that I want.

[dramatic music] Everything.

[baby cooing]

[monitor beeping]

EJ, I… I just stopped by to check on Nicole… And offer my condolences… to you as well.

Thank you, Eric. I appreciate you stopping by.

Excuse me.

[door closes]

EJ… I hope you don’t think that–

You don’t have to explain. I want you to know that, um… I’m here for you, too… If and when you need me.

Okay, uh… EJ may have it out for you. But you have the truth on your side.

You got a lot more faith in the justice system than I do.

Well, actually, I have some news that could help your case.

What’s that?

Well, since I had a bad feeling about Gil since day one, I did a background check.

And?

And he has a record.

Sexual assault?

Drug offense… which could lend you credibility, obviously.

[chuckles] A drug offense, uh, versus my past as a Mafia princess.

[cell phone beeps]

It’s the CSI team at your place. They want to talk. Hopefully it’s good news. I’ll keep you updated.

[ominous music]

[door opens, closes]

[cell phone vibrating]

Statesville Prison…

[vibrating continues]

[cell phone vibrating]

[sighs]

[cell phone beeps]

Yeah, hello.

Statesville Prison with a collect call. Do you accept?

Yeah, I’ll accept the call.

[dramatic music]

[chuckles] Okay, what makes you think that Holly has a crush on me?

Well, when I walked in, she was hovering off the ground, staring into your eyes.

[chuckles] Okay, come on.

No, trust me. I know that look. I used to give the same look to Zac Efron every night before bed. I had a poster of him in my room.

Okay.

Mm-hmm.

All right. Look, I know that you know and I know…

Mm-hmm.

That I’m irresistible.

[laughs]

Okay. But I promise you, Holly does not have Efron eyes for me, okay? She’s like my little sister. In fact, she is my little sister now that our parents are married.

Mm-hmm, but are you sure she sees you that same way, as just her older stepbrother?

Yes. I’m positive, and do you want to know why? Because she was very recently crushing on somebody else.

Who?

Uh, my dad.

What?

[chuckles] I know. She–she admitted it right before the wedding. Um, so, yeah, it’s him. It’s not me.

Mm-hmm.

[inhales deeply]

Seriously. Look, just please don’t say anything, okay? She said she’s totally over it, and I’m sure she would be mortified that I told you.

Yeah, well, I’m not going to say anything. But are you sure that her crush was on your dad and not you?

Yes.

I mean, he– he is old enough to be her father.

I’m positive, okay? It is my dad. It’s not me.

[dramatic music]

[monitor beeping]

Um, Chad dropped by to offer his condolences. He only just found out about the baby today.

[somber music]

You didn’t tell him last night?

No. In fact, he asked why I never called. I just said we were busy, there was a lot going on… Which is the half-truth. Honestly, I didn’t call him because I didn’t want to be comforted. I feared that talking about it would… Make it real.

I know exactly what you mean. I thought…

[sobs]

Now that you’ve had your bottle, little munchkin, it’s time for Auntie Melinda to have hers.

[chuckles] Oh… I was so impressed with you today… the way you looked at your new mommy. You were so good with her. And she is so excited to bring you home so you can meet your daddy.

[scoffs] Oh, yes, little fella, you guys are going to make a beautiful family…

[dramatic music] As long as Mommy’s guilty conscience doesn’t torpedo the entire plan.

[sighs]

[door opens]

Hey.

Hey.

Did you start without me?

Oh, no. I’m just trying to mentally prepare myself for what’s ahead.

[scoffs] How’s Nicole?

Heartbroken, heartbroken, as I expected her to be.

Poor thing. I feel really bad for her.

Yeah, me too. You know, honestly, I– as strong as she is, I don’t know how she’s going to get through this one.

Eric… I went to see Melinda. And there’s something that you need to know.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

alright, maxie, blowing up my phone. What do you need? Want ferdinand for another shoot or something? No, I need you. Look at these. Feast your eyes. Aren’t they gorgeous? Yeah, gorgeous. Diane, thank you so much for meeting me. I — but I — I know, I know, you’re juggling a lot of clients, and I just want to tell you how grateful I am that you even considered taking my case. Dr. Finn, we have to have a little chat. I brought everything that pertains to — I can’T. Nope, nope. Don’t want to see it. Can’t see it. Well, no, I really think these notes are crucial to my defense. I’m sure they are. I’m sure they are. But I guess I’ll just cut to the chase. I — I cannot possibly represent you. Jordan, thank you for coming by. Won’t you come in? Of course. What’s going on? Are you, um, thirsty? Curtis, I’m pretty sure you didn’t invite me over here for a tea party, so tell me, why am I here? Because you’re the only one who can understand what I discovered. Drew: Spying on your employees? What was that for? Just celebrating. Thanks for coming. Of course. Sit down. Please. Ordered you a drink. I’m fine. Are you? Just trying to find my footing, you know? How’s charlotte? She’s healing. Getting stronger every day. Hoping to have her home by thanksgiving. Thank god. Anna, I now know why she was targeting you.

[ Monitor beeping ] Nina. Hi, sweetheart. What’s that? Oh, it’s just a little something for a very special lady. You didn’t have to do that, nina. You being here is gift enough. No, it’s nothing. It’s just an excuse to see you, really. I hope you like it. Riding gloves. Yeah. They’re so soft. Thank you. I love them. Well, we’ll go riding again when you’re back on your feet. It feels like it’s been a lifetime since our last adventure. I would love that. You’re always so good to me. So me people are just nicebecause of papa, but you, I feel like you really care about me, just me being me. By “some people,” charlotte, do you mean anna? How the mighty have fallen. Tell me about this celebration. Does it have anything to do with you buying back your half of the metro court?

[ Chuckles ] Um, no. I mean, as tempting as it was, I couldn’t do it. I turned down her offer. Ah. So you decided to come to your restaurant, do a little people watching? I was just appreciating what I have. I went to the metro court today to turn down nina’s offer, and when I stepped off the elevator, I just — I had déj vu. And then I found myself staring into the dining area and I was watching the activity of the day and then I saw nina. Okay. It’s hard. You know, it’s hard watching her stand there where I used to stand, acting like she owned the place. And I know she does… …but

it’s hard watching herlive the life I used to live. Including your life with sonny as his wife? No. No, I-I don’t regret the divorce at all, and I want sonny to be happy, but watching nina enjoy the things that used to be mine? Ugh, god. And I know, I know this must sound awful to you. Doesn’t sound awful. It doesn’T. Carly, you sound human. Here. Read this. It explains everything. It’s from victor? What’s he doing writing to charlotte? It’s all in there. “It is with a heavy heart that I must write to you and share my concern about our family’s future. Anna has completely manipulated your father. She’s taken advantage of his infatuation with her. God knows her charms escaped me, but she’s used them to control your father. Her extensive training in espionage has afforded her the ability to mask who she really is. I tell you this. Anna devane is not who she seems. Do not trust her, not for a minute.” Anna always put on this act, pretending to be nice, but it was just a way to get closer to papa.

[ Sighs ] Charlotte, your grandmother, laura, told your papa and me that victor warned you about anna, that he said that she was dangerous? Because she is. Even though papa’s smart about everything else, she tricked him, and he can’t tell that she’s using him. Mr. Corinthos, I am sorry to disappoint you, but we don’t open till 5:00. That’s alright. I already ate lunch. You can go ahead and keep working while we talk. Oh, are we going to talk? I’m going to talk. You’re going to listen. Alright. You think you’re so slick. Father theresa? Mr. Clean? Doesn’t matter what part you play. We both know who you are. Get used to that mop, ’cause that’s the last job you’re going to have in port charles. And I’m going to make sure that. Well, then, I guess I better get back to it. Yeah, stay focused, cyrus, ’cause if I get a glimpse of your old crew or I hear a whisper that you’re back to your old tricks, I will shut you down… …permanently. So, tell me, what’s this new discovery? Meditation. Ah. You know, tj’s been telling me to try that. Well, it’s a great way to quiet the noise in your head and to slow down your thoughts and to just be still. Hm. That sounds profound. Oh, you’d be surprised at what comes from stillness. I had a sense memory of a case we worked on in baltimore. I don’t really remember the details, only how it felt. Following a lead, putting the clues together, connecting the dots, that spark when the answer comes, you know? Why the sudden reluctance? Hamilton, it’s very complicated. And trust me, under any other circumstances, I would be all in to represent you, especially since I don’t want to disappoint alexis. Then what’s holding you back? When alexis called me this morning, I was running around. I didn’t quite understand all of the details. And after she and I hung up, I got a call from the muldoons. The muldoons? Yes. The family that is suing you. Every shot is a masterpiece. I can’t stop thinking about our next deception campaign. Salvadore’s people are already on board. You’re sure about him? Uh, yeah. He can’t stop talking about how much camera chemistry you and sasha have. Listen, maxie, uh, I — I just — picture this, our next deception campaign. Think sophistication meets untamed allure. Untamed allure? Yeah. You in a tux but with a twist. Shirt slightly undone, showcasing rugged charm. Then there’s sasha opposite you, looking exquisite in a radiant ballgown. Think cowboy meets elegance. I can see it now. Stark desert landscape. The sunset’s painting the sky. Well, at least it’ll be a short shoot. Yeah, we’ll spend the whole day setting up for that moment. Listen, uh, good luck. I’m sure it’s going to be great. Whoever you get to stand next to sasha for that sunset, it’s going to look

[Clicks tongue] Cody, come on. It screams you. I’m sorry, maxie. No can do. I’m out. “She will use your father and lead him into danger. She will lead him to his death. My dear charlotte, you are the only one who can protect your father from anna devane.” God, what did he do? Victor put so much fear into a young person’s mind like that? She was just trying to protect you from me.

[Coughing] Laura finally got charlotte to open up. Really? Victor didn’t just write a letter. He visited her in boarding school. He filled her head with stories of — that you were a threat, your true motive was to ruin me, to put me in prison, or worse. So all of her actions were just a young girl desperately trying to save her father. Yeah. She thought by getting you out of port charles, she was keeping me out of harm’s way. Did she admit to everything? Burning my house or…? Why didn’t you tell anyone about victor’s warning? I didn’t think anyone would believe me.

[ Sighs ] That’s a lot for you to carry, isn’t it? Yeah. If you thought anna was a threat, what’d you do? You already know, don’t you? Grandma must’ve told you. Laura said that you wanted anna to leave port charles. Charlotte, will you tell me? What did you do to make anna want to go? That memory of you and i working together on that case, it was not just nostalgia. It was a wake-up call. From what? Not from. To. It reminded me of who I am deep down. I thought I had left the P.I. World behind me. Well, you were determined to find a new path. I just didn’t want to get pigeonholed. I mean, I was still doing that work, badge or no badge. Helping drew figure out where victor cassadine took trina and ace, that was a huge part of me. That’s who I am to the core. I live to uncover the truth, to seek justice. And you think you lost that part of yourself? Not lost. Just, um… sidetracked, especially after the shooting. You know, the pcpd hasn’t made any progress, and I can’t just sit here waiting for something to happen. I got to dig in, right? I got to take matters into my own hands and figure out who put me in this wheelchair. But to do that, I, uh… I need access to the police investigation. And that’s where I come in. You’re going to represent the family that’s suing me and general hospital for malpractice? Yes, I am, hamilton. The deceased, dennis muldoon, his father-in-law and i go way, way back. He was a client of mine before I was even truly established. The muldoons have me on retainer. Oh, that’s nice. So we should probably cut this chat a little short, considering we will soon be on adversarial sides in a courtroom. However, I do have some unsolicited advice for you. Oh, by all means. Okay, look, you may trust the higher-ups at general hospital, but trust me, when push comes to shove, the G.H. Lawyers will focus solely on the hospital’s reputation, not yours. You will be an afterthought. Alexis said the same thing. And alexis is right. I do wish you the very best of luck. Don’t let me interrupt. Diane, if you two need more time, I can wait at the bar. Hello, gregory. No, no, not at all. My business with dr. Finn is done for now. Yeah, that went well. Maxie: Come on, cody. I don’t understand why you’re being so obstinate. I will pay you. In fact, I have your last paycheck around here somewhere. Oh, see? Really? Look, I appreciate it, but… oh, wow, that, uh — that is a hefty sum. Yeah, and it’ll be heftier once you sign on as the male face of deception. I’m sorry, maxie, but this face has seen his last paycheck. I appreciate it. I really, really do. But I can’t do this. Boy, you’re difficult. Okay, fine. Fine. I’ll give you a signing bonus. Double what’s on that check. It’s not the money, maxie. It’s sasha. Sonny, I don’t imagine you’ll believe it, but this is me trying to start fresh. Every move I’ve made since my release has been by the book. This job is a genuine attempt to go straight. My past issues with you — water under the bridge. Well, that’s hard to believe, cyrus, after everything you did to set me up. I have no idea what you’re talking about. Well, maybe there’s too much bleach in your brain. Let me refresh your memory. Your boys, austin and mason, they blackmailed ava jerome, put a mole in my house. A mole? Yeah, my daughter’s nanny, betty. She did a perfect job. She did what she had to do. She got to the computer, she grabbed the information, and she brought the information to austin and austin brought it to you at pentonville. And then you gave it to the feds ’cause you thought it was going to take me down. Come on. Right? That is a hell of a story, sonny. Yeah, well, here’s the punch line. All the information betty stole… …was a lie. It was all a trap. And guess what? You walked right into it. I’m not going to keep dwelling on everything that nina did. I am going to move beyond the past. Well, that sounds very healthy to me. And look at everything I have — you. You’re back from pentonville. This amazing business that my mother gifted me with a major connection to my family history. My kids are healthy and happy. I have an amazing home. I have so many blessings. And you are so resilient, and you’re strong. And I got to be honest, your — your optimism inspires me. And I get that from you, because you always teach me to see the bright side, to focus on moving forward. But moving forward doesn’t mean that you put your guard down, right? It especially doesn’t mean that you let the people that hurt you have another shot. I know it’s a gray area. Jordan, I’m not asking for a free pass into the evidence locker. I’m just asking you if you could bend the rules just a little bit.

[ Sighs ] It’s a thin line, curtis. But given that you were the victim, the one directly affected, it seems to me you have the right to know what’s happening in the investigation. So you’re saying…? I’ll get you access to the statements, leads, evidence, the works, but — thank you, jordan. Thank you. Okay, hold on, hold on. Don’t go getting all grateful just yet. There is a catch. Hey, dad. See you, uh — see you brought a friend. How’s that working out? Oh, these things really do make you feel older.

[ Chuckles ] But it does provide a grounding, and I am a little steadier on my feet. That’s good. Stability is everything. Not to pry, but did something go awry with diane? Oh, that? No, that’s just some — some legal nonsense, you know? Of greater importance, violet had her first school debate. Ooh. Yeah. She and her team defended humans against robots as better helpers.

[ Chuckling ] What an age we live in. Right? Right? Violet pointed out that although robots might be better at following instructions, humans have intuition that we are able to sense when something’s off, we can adapt and provide comfort, and, more importantly, no batteries required.

[ Chuckles ] Sounds like violet’s talking about the difference between you and elizabeth.

[ Laughs ] That’s — that’s a good one. Son, as much as I enjoy talking about my intuitive granddaughter, it doesn’t take intuition to see that something is bothering you. Was it the meeting with diane? Yeah, dad, it didn’t go the way I had hoped. I never did anything to hurt anna. I was just trying to scare her. By doing what? Listen, everyone makes mistakes. Everyone. I have done some foolish things while I was upset. Do you remember… the article came out about anna being a double agent? Yeah, it was everywhere. One night [Sniffles] After I saw that article, I went to her house and

[Breathes shakily] Painted the word “murderer” on her door. And? And then, after the fire at her house, I got another idea, and [Sniffles] I went to her hotel. I snuck in with the keycard I borrowed from papa, and… …I messed up her stuff. I even wrote on her bathroom mirror with lipstick. And then, on halloween… …I was going to spray-paint another message in her apartment, but… but then she found me, and she had a gun.

[ Crying ] She shot me. Valentin: I haven’t discussed it with charlotte. I just know that she told laura that she was trying to drive you away. Ooh, well, she tried to terrorize me, really. She needs help. She needs professional help. I think she needs intensive deprogramming. Don’t you think so? But everything she did was to protect me. She wasn’t acting out of malice. It’s powerful conditioning. That can be fixed. Anna, have faith. As soon as she is on the road to healing, then the three of us can move forward together. Mm, I’m really not sure how that’s going to happen. Look, I don’t know if you heard maxie, but sasha said she doesn’t want to work with me anymore, okay? She was crystal clear. Once she understands how important — no, no, no, no, no. No way. No. I’m not going to let you force her into doing something she’s uncomfortable with. I would not do that… to sasha. This is just business. Yeah, well, it’s personal for sasha, okay? She’s been through hell. She was being used by gladys for months and then controlled by montague. She’s just now getting her life back in order, okay? She deserves to have her wishes respected. I’m not going to interfere with anything like that, okay? I already told you, I’m out. Maybe not. There’s a situation at the hospital that I’d rather not get into. It’s — it’s nothing to worry about, alright, especially with everything else on your plate. What, you mean my als? Son, while I can’t alter my condition. I can choose how I deal with it, like with this cane. Speaking of which, you should have seen violet’s face. She doesn’t think less of me because of it. In fact, she said she thought it makes me look like a dapper snowman.

[ Both laugh ] Classic violet. Finn, if you’re grappling with something, share it. I may not be able to provide an answer, but maybe it’ll give me a break from my own troubles. Okay, you asked for it. Yesterday, I got some unsettling news. You’re not sick, are you? No, nothing like that. It’s — it’s work. I was informed that I, along with G.H., Are being sued by the family of a former patient for malpractice. So what’s going on? You’re usually the one telling me to let things go. I’m just saying to be aware and stay on guard, that’s all. So you never told me what that kiss was celebrating. The fact that you’re free to show up out of the blue. That means I can kiss you whenever I want. Compared to a month ago, my life is so much better. Mine, too. Then w hat was that commentabout not letting people who hurt you do it again? Ned. He pushed me one step too far. You must’ve seen the headlines about my arrest. “Corinthos in hot water.” “Fbi brews trouble for coffee kingpin.” It was all basically a comedy of errors. You handed them watered-down espresso for that bogus data. You give me too much credit, sonny. You know, I was — I was actually in shock at how much credit they gave you. But you got your release, right? Yeah, because of my poor health, nothing else. Make sure you take good care of that precious health, ’cause it’s going to get a lot worse if you cross me. Anna, we can get through this. She wasn’t acting in her right mind. It wasn’t truly her. I don’t have a problem with her. But you’ve known since the night that my hotel suite was ransacked that your daughter was the one threatening me, and you said nothing. I was hoping — what? That you could manage it from behind the scenes like we did when we were agents in the field? You decided not to tell the woman you claim to love that instead of fearing professional assassins, I was merely facing a misguided teenager. I didn’t know how to handle it. No, because you have no faith in me. If you told me the truth from the start, then we could’ve talked about it, and we could have handled it ourselves. And you know what I wouldn’t have done? I would never have pulled a weapon that night. It’s because you don’t believe in me. You know why you don’t trust anyone? It’s because you yourself cannot be trusted. Nina: Other than the spray paint and the hotel, did you do anything else to try to frighten anna away? No. That’s all. I promise. Okay. Anna’s house — it was just the spray paint? Yes.

[ Monitor beeping ] Charlotte… this is me you’re talking to. Me. There is nothing that you could ever say or ever do to stop me from loving you. I will never stop loving you. But in order for us to make this right, sweetheart, you have to be honest with me right now. I know it’s hard. Did you have anything to do with the fire in anna’s house? Let’s just say ned’s back to his old self — as — as arrogant as ever. Wow, okay. What did he do? He stopped by aurora, and everything seemed fine at first until he found out that michael salvaged a deal for elq, and he kind of freaked out. Instead of being grateful for it, he said that michael had no authority to broker that deal. Even though he wasn’t around to do it himself? Exactly. Instead of thanking michael, he told — told him to keep his nose out of elq business. Wow. That’s unbelievable, but it sounds just like ned. It does. Proving once again that ned puts his pride, puts his ego ahead of what’s best for the company. What are you going to do about it? Curtis, you and I are both investigators at heart. I want to be right there in the trenches with you. Uh, aren’t you the deputy mayor? Because digging, you know, that could ruffle some feathers, and it could cause embarrassment to the whole city, which would make your life very difficult. Well, difficult is relative. I can handle the heat, and I’m happy to ruffle any feathers if it means putting the person who shot you behind bars for 20-to-life. So, alexis arranged for diane to represent you, only to discover that diane is representing the family suing you? Yeah. That’s pretty much the gist of it. You’ve always been an outstanding doctor. This is your first brush with a lawsuit, right? Yes. Do you believe the suit has merit? No. But sometimes in cases like this, grieving families have sway with the jury. Have you got your bases covered with malpractice insurance? I do, of course. If for some reason the jury favors the muldoons, then insurance would pay out the settlement. That’s a silver lining. At least you won’t be staring down the barrel of financial ruin. Yeah, I don’t know, dad. If the insurance company has to pay out because of this case, they’ll find a reason to drop me, and without malpractice insurance… you won’t be able to practice medicine. This lawsuit could be the end of my career. Wowwww…sha: Cody, I really appreciateyour willingness to step away from deception because of my feelings. But if maxie asked you to work with any other model, would you say yes? I… [ Sighs ] We’ve been pretty honest with each other so far, so don’t stop now. Okay. Yeah, yeah, if — if it was another model, I’d take the job. And, maxie, having cody as the male face of deception, it’s important for our brand, right? I mean, only if we want to be successful. Look, your chemistry was off the charts. It jumped through the screen at “home & heart.” These pictures capture it perfectly. Alright, but cody is right. Your wishes and comfort come first. Sometimes I get a little excited. No, no. You know what? I need to trust and pay attention to that excitement. If you think this is for the best, then I want to do it for the company. Sasha, are you sure? Really? I’m sure. Oh, my gosh. This is so amazing.

[ Squeals ] I promise it won’t be awkward. And no blind gossip pieces about your pairing. This is just business. Strictly professional. Finn, you’ve dedicated your life, you poured your heart and soul into medicine. You can’t let them take away your calling. If G.H. Or their lawyers won’t stand up for you, you have to stand up for yourself. That’s what I’m trying to do, dad. Listen, somebody doesn’t get stage iv cancer out of the blue. There had to have been signs, symptoms. I know from personal experience when I was diagnosed with als, there were countless warnings. I was just too stubborn to see them. I know that, dad, but — no, listen to me. If that patient was stage iv, then there had to have been indicators that were overlooked or — or ignored. Thanks, dad. For what? For believing in me. For always feeling the weight on my shoulders and trying to lighten the load. Always, son. Always. I never set fire to anna’s house, nina.

[ Monitor beeping ] I was just trying to get her to leave town to keep papa safe.

[ Crying ] You have to believe me. I do, I do. Come here. I do, I do, sweetheart. It’s okay. It’s okay. Everything’s going to be okay. You’re right. I am, at my core, untrustworthy. As soon as I learned about charlotte, my first instinct was to hide the truth. It’s called lying. To protect my daughter. But also maybe to protect our love. I’ve dreamed of a life with you forever. I just don’t have the faith. So I was afraid that you’d leave me once you found out. Maybe I’m afraid that you don’t love me the way I love you. I think you’ve always doubted us. I think you’re right.

[ Sighs, sniffles ] It’s never been about how much I love you. It’s just been this persistent mistrust that has created this chasm. Except that now your lies and secrecy ended up with me shooting an innocent kid. Charlotte will recover. Oh, what does that even mean? Does that make it okay? It doesn’t make it okay. It doesn’t absolve me. She’s never going to get over this trauma — ever. No matter how much deprogramming, it will never erase it. Every time she sees me, she will be reminded of that night. And I’m afraid that every time I see you, I’m just going to be forced to relive it. So I think that if I’m going to have any peace in my life… …I need to see you as little as possible. I’m sorry. Jordan, all I wanted was access to the police files. I can handle the rest alone. Besides, if I come up empty, it will have only been my time that I wasted. It was that memory of us investigating in baltimore that gave you this idea to begin with. That should be a clue that I’m right. We made a great team. We were a force. Mm-hmm. And closed a lot of tough cases, cases that stumped everyone else. We were unstoppable because we complemented each other’s strengths. I remember. So if we team up, we can get to the bottom of this faster together. What do you say? I say there’s no point in fighting you. Ah, yes, because you know I’m right. True that.

[ Chuckles ] Let’s get started. Okay, with ned back to throwing his weight around, what’s your next move? I’ll tell you what I’m not going to do. I’m not going to make any more rash decisions giving ned more ammo for his pals over at the sec so they can maneuver me back behind bars. Okay, so — so you do think ned is the one who tipped them off, not the fbi? I mean, the theory that they were targeting you to come after sonny, that obviously makes sense, but sometimes things just are what they are. There’s no grand conspiracy. Ned was even going to tell me something about the sec right before he started freaking out about michael and elq. Well, with everything you just told me, ned hasn’t changed one bit. Exactly. People act on raw emotions like anger and spite. And given ned’s ego and his obvious resentment towards me, it fits. He saw an opportunity for revenge, and he took it. Let me make myself clear, cyrus. You stay away from me, my family, and my business. And when I say my family, they’re all under my protection. Sasha gilmore, ava jerome, my ex-wife — you cross paths with them, you cross paths with me. Anything else? Yeah. Keep working on that mop. I got my eyes on you. Every hour of every day. You step over the line… I will make sure no one ever sees you again. I understand. One more thing. Lay off laura. Don’t show up at the city hall — it embarrasses her — or at her house. Now, look, laura… it’s her choice if she wants to see you. But just don’t — don’t go there uninvited. Are we clear? Oh, yeah. Glad we understand each other. Now, get back to work.
