Days of Our Lives Update

Shawn sits at his desk in the police commissioner’s office, looking at his name plate on the desk. Mayor Rawlings walks in and asks if he’s settling in. Shawn responds that he’s trying to and asks if there’s something he can do for him. Rawlings responds that he can arrest Paulina Price.

Abe sits at Steve and Kayla’s, going over the cards that Kayla made for him to remember who his friends and family are. Abe says he knows that he and Paulina were married on Juneteenth, but he just can’t remember it. Belle shows up at the door and tells Abe that it’s so good to see him. Abe identifies her but brings up his memory as he invites her in. Abe assumes that she got his message. Belle says she came right over and asks what he wanted to talk about. Abe asks Belle to help him get his job back.

At the Brady Pub, Kate reads the news and says that Clint Rawlings set Abe up to get raked over the coals at the press conference. Kate asks Roman if he’s outraged over this. Roman confirms that he is, but says he has some other news to share with her. Kate remarks that he’s acting like someone died. Roman then reveals that Victor died.

At the hospital, Steve informs Kayla that Victor Kiriakis is dead. Steve explains that he was flying home from visiting Bo and his plane went down in the Mediterranean. Kayla asks if they are sure. Steve confirms that the coastguard just recovered his body. Kayla calls that horrible news, but Steve questions if it is.

Xander sits at the Spectator office and texts Maggie, asking if there’s any news on Victor. Chloe arrives and asks if he’s busy. Xander responds that he’s never too busy for her and asks what’s up. Chloe wondered if he got the ad sales report that she left on his desk. Xander says it looks great but he had one little question about it. Xander then asks if Chloe has decided whether she’s going to marry him. Chloe calls him quite the charmer but thought they both agreed they need to take time to figure this out. Xander insists he has taken time, pointing out that it’s been 28 hours since he proposed. Chloe calls it barely a day while Xander feels it’s been an eternity. Xander declares that he doesn’t need any time as he knows he wants her to be his wife. Chloe responds that she has to figure out if they are doing it for the right reasons. Xander states that he wants to marry her because he loves her. Chloe questions if that’s the only reason, pointing out that he just found out Sarah is back with Rex. Xander repeats that he’s totally over Sarah but Chloe questions if he’s sure about that.

Kate can’t believe that Victor is gone. Roman knows it’s a shock and brings up the history between Kate and Victor. Kate states that they both repeatedly burned their bridge, but once upon a time they really did love each other. Kate then flashes back to her past relationship with Victor. Kate acknowledges that there was a lot of hate, betrayal, deception, and vengeance too, but when someone they loved was in crisis, they put aside all animosity in an instant to put their heads together and strategize to come up with the most brilliant plan to help that person. Kate thinks in a sense, she and Victor were kindred spirits.

Kayla tells Steve that she knows Victor did some awful things to him. Steve says he did to a whole lot of other people. Kayla questions saying his death is good news. Steve clarifies that he’s not suggesting they dance on his grave, just that they don’t get caught up in eulogies to the point that they forget what kind of man Victor really was. Steve adds that he’s sure he’s not the only one who feels that way. Kayla asks what about his family and the people who loved him and how they feel.

Belle tells Abe that she can sympathize with his position but she doesn’t know what she can do. Abe suggests they can figure that out together. Abe wants to do anything he can to get Clint Rawlings out of the Mayor’s office, so he can get back in. Paulina shows up at the door and apologizes to Abe for pushing him to the press conference when it’s clear he wasn’t ready, so she doesn’t want Abe to give another thought to becoming Mayor again.

Shawn asks Mayor Rawlings why he would arrest Paulina. Rawlings responds that Paulina assaulted him and that the entire incident was captured on video.

Paulina apologizes to Abe and says she should’ve found another way to help Chanel. Abe states that this is bigger than the Bakery and is about someone using their power and position to hurt innocent people. Paulina brings up that Marlena told her not to push him and she did it anyways, right in to Rawlings’ path. Abe responds that it was his choice to take his job back. Paulina insists that it’s too soon and that Abe would’ve never considered this if she didn’t beg him to, so she came to apologize for making such a selfish request and to let him know that she doesn’t expect this to go any further as she wants Abe to focus on his recovery. Abe appreciates her concern but states that Rawlings has decided to make this an ugly battle and he’s not going to let him win.

Xander gets a call from Justin and asks if Victor finally resurfaced, but instead Justin breaks the news to him. Xander doesn’t know what to say and says he’ll come by to see Maggie later. Xander thanks Justin for letting him know and hangs up. Chloe asks what he let him know. Xander informs Chloe that Victor is not missing, he’s dead.

Kayla calls Brady and tells him not to hesitate to call if he needs anything. Kayla tells Steve that Brady will pass on their condolences. Steve asks how Maggie is doing. Kayla responds that Justin said they are all in shock. Steve apologizes for what he said before since he was only talking about Victor in relation to them, but he knows Victor was a husband, father, grandfather, and uncle to people they love, so he knows they are in pain and his heart goes out to them. Kayla knows that and apologizes for negating his feelings. Kayla acknowledges that Steve can have compassion for Victor’s family while also having contempt for what Victor put him through.

Kate tells Roman that she and Victor really went at it over the years, but they gave as good as they got. Kate flashes back to past fights with Victor. Roman hates that Victor caused her so much pain. Kate points out that she caused plenty of pain herself, but says that Victor was a worthy adversary as he was ruthless and vicious. Kate doesn’t think she met anyone as stubborn as she is. Roman acknowledges that Victor could hold a grudge. Kate admits they really had a lot in common. Kate tells Roman that he is the love of her life. Roman acknowledges that Victor understood her better than anyone did and agrees they were kindred spirits. Kate calls Victor one of a kind whether you loved or hated him. Kate declares there will never ever be another Victor Kiriakis.

Shawn questions Rawlings wanting him to arrest Paulina because she poked him in the chest. Rawlings claims it was a hard poke and he almost fell backwards, offering to show him the bruise. Rawlings claims he has a contusion of the sternum. Rawlings tells Shawn that according to the law, Paulina committed assault and came at him looking for a fight.

Paulina tells Abe that she’s not one to shy away from a fight, but in this case they need to back off. Abe questions letting Rawlings stay in office and says there’s no chance. Abe adds that if Rawlings hasn’t put Chanel out of business or anyone else, he’s on his way to turning Salem in to a dictatorship. Paulina asks if he really thinks that’s possible. Abe feels anything is possible in politics these days. Abe questions how he could put his energy in to getting better when everything around him is worse. Abe declares that what Rawlings is doing is wrong and he would be wrong to not do anything to stop him. Paulina asks what Belle thinks. Belle responds that Abe has her vote.

Xander tells Chloe that he really thought Victor would live forever. Chloe says she’s sorry. Xander says this whole time, he and Victor have been estranged but there was a time when he would’ve done anything for Victor and to earn his respect. Xander admits all he used to want was for Victor to accept him and see him as a true Kiriakis as worthy of respect as the others, but he always refused and that hurt him, so he tried to hurt Victor back which he calls a big mistake. Xander thinks back to Victor almost having him killed. Chloe notes that Xander never told him any of that. Xander says he never told anyone since Victor decided to spare his life, but not before letting him know how worthless he was to him as his flashback continues. Xander declares that Victor didn’t want an apology, just his pound of flesh. Xander adds that Victor made him live in his house, but not as family, as the gardener, so he had to put up with his crap every day.

Steve tells Kayla that Victor needed someone to do his dirty work which is why Victor brought him to town. Steve flashes back to a past meeting with Victor. Steve reminds Kayla that Victor hired him to spy on her and Bo, and before that, he wanted him to get film from Kimberly, and then his assignment was to get the pawn that turned out to be John. Steve says it makes him sick to think about what he did back then. Steve states that he chose to take money and orders from a crime boss, which made him a criminal too. Kayla acknowledges that Victor Kiriakis was a very powerful man, initimdating and frightening. Steve recalls being in deep, but he finally realized he had to get out no matter what it cost him. Steve remembers fighting Victor for Kayla. Steve states that Victor didn’t appreciate being told he was wrong. Steve says he can’t count all the evil things that Victor did over the years, but he’ll never forgive him for kidnapping Kayla while she was pregnant with Stephanie. Kayla says she would never excuse the pain that Victor caused anyone, admitting that he could be vicious and frightening, but she knows there was another side to him. Kayla brings up that her mother Caroline fell in love with Victor. Steve suggests maybe he was a better man for it.

Roman and Kate toast to Victor. Roman talks about how Caroline saw good in Victor that no one else ever did. Kate compares it to Roman seeing the good in her. Roman says the Bradys have skills and one is taking care of the people they love. Roman adds that he’s going to be there for Kate because she has to call Philip and tell him about Victor but Kate says there’s no way in hell she’s doing that.

Chloe reminds Xander that he eventually changed Victor’s mind about him and he made him CEO of Titan. Xander recalls having such big plans after all those years of being humiliated and dismissed. Xander talks about showing Victor that he could take Titan to new heights all by himself, but then Philip came home…

Roman reminds Kate of when they thought they lost her, he sent Rex to Europe to tell Philip the news. Kate points out that then they had to tell him she was alive. Roman is sure it was hard to go from one extreme to another but knows this news about Victor will be hard to handle, given how fragile Philip is. Kate says that’s not the reason that she doesn’t want to tell him and says he’s not that fragile anymore. Kate declares that if Philip finds out his father is dead, he’ll come back to Salem and then he will end up arrested.

Shawn tells Mayor Rawlings that their resources are limited so he thinks they should focus on higher priorities. Rawlings argues that he was a victim of a crime. Shawn calls it a personal matter. Rawlings reminds Shawn of who made him police commissioner. Shawn points out that Rawlings threatened him if he didn’t. Rawlings states that Shawn serves him. Shawn acknowledges that’s true but says he’s not his lackey and he’s not going to jump every time he snaps his fingers. Shawn adds that he doesn’t owe him anything as his sworn duty is to the people of Salem and reminds Rawlings that’s his sworn duty too.

Abe declares that he took an oath to serve and protect the people of Salem, so that’s what he intends to do. Paulina sees there is no talking him out of this and guesses they all agree that Rawlings has to go, so she wants to discuss how to make that happen. Abe responds that he called Belle to give them some legal options, so he asks Belle to tell them.

Mayor Rawlings asks if Shawn is accusing him of abusing his power. He shouts that he has what Paulina did to him on tape. Shawn argues that he has actual abused victims and asks him to let him do his job. Rawlings warns Shawn that if he wants to keep his job, he will make sure Paulina is in handcuffs by the end of the day as he storms out.

Belle acknowledges that legally, there’s nothing stopping Abe from taking his job back but points out that if he gives Rawlings the boot, he will go kicking and screaming and they’ve already seen how he uses the media as a weapon. Belle adds that he could use the video of the press conference to highlight Abe’s memory loss to make him look unfit for office. Belle adds that the general election is a few months away so Rawlings would probably run against Abe and will make his life difficult either way. Belle knows Abe has been through so much, so she doesn’t want to see him get hurt again. Paulina agrees that Abe’s health has to be priority and they can try again when he gets better. Abe points out that they don’t know when that will be. Paulina says they do know that getting in a nasty public fight with Rawlings won’t help. Abe says he can’t just sit back while Rawling tramples all over peoples’ rights, so he has to try to do something. Paulina worries about putting Abe’s reputation and recovery at risk. Belle thinks there might be a way to stop Rawlings without doing that.

Kate reminds Roman that Philip faked his death and framed Brady for it, so if he stayed in Salem, he would’ve ended up in either prison or Bayview and he wouldn’t have survived it. Kate talks about her and Victor sending Philip to a private institution to recover and to avoid arrest. Kate fears that Philip would be arrested if he came back but Roman argues that he could beat those charged by pleading not guilty by way of mental illness. Kate says even if Philip is not locked up, she would worry that Brady would try to kill him for what he did to him. Roman insists that Brady wouldn’t murder anyone but Kate brings up that Brady just lost custody of Rachel because he pulled a gun on Kristen. Roman argues that Kate can’t hide this from Philip forever since Victor’s death is international news, so sooner or later, he’s going to find out. Kate asks how since only they, Rex, and Paulina know where Philip is. Roman points out that Kate said Philip is stronger now. Kate feels if she told Philip not to come back to Salem, he still would and then she would risk losing him. Roman agrees not to say anything to anybody, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop trying to talk sense in to her. Kate wishes him luck with that as they hug.

Xander tells Chloe about how Victor made him share the Titan CEO title with Philip even though everyone knew Philip was a loser. Xander apologizes as he knows Chloe loved Philip once and he shouldn’t speak ill of the dead. Chloe acknowledges that Xander and Philip didn’t get along. Xander says they let Victor play them against each other but he had the good sense to walk away. Xander cries that Victor died thinking he was the same degenerate thug he was when he came to Salem. Chloe says that’s not true. Xander brings up that just the other day, Maggie was begging him to make amends with Victor before it was too late. Xander admits he loved Victor in spite of everything as he hugs Chloe. Chloe asks if there’s anything she could do. Xander jokes that he would say marry him but then they’d know she’s definitely doing it for the wrong reasons. Xander thinks he just needs time alone. Chloe tells him to call her if he needs her. Chloe goes to leave the office but stops to tell Xander that she loves him. Xander questions if she really does. Chloe assures that she does or else she wouldn’t be considering his proposal. Xander says he loves her too as she then exits.

Kayla tells Steve that despite how messy things got between Victor and Caroline, she knows deep down that he loved her and at some point in her life, Caroline was crazy about him. Steve asks if she’s saying Victor’s love for Caroline and Maggie was proof that he had a heart. Kayla feels it gave him some measure of redemption. Steve relates to Kayla doing the same for him and says he doesn’t know what kind of man he’d be without her love. Kayla says she’ll never have to find out and points out that there’s a chance that they would have never met if Victor didn’t bring him to Salem. Steve guesses he owes him for that. Steve declares that Victor might have been a real son of a bitch, but he gave him the best gift he could ever get in Kayla. Steve believes that Victor gave love back as best he could, so in his memory, he will give that love back to Kayla always. Kayla says she’ll hold him to that as they kiss.

Belle joins Shawn in his office and asks him what’s going on. Shawn informs her that Rawlings paid him a visit and it seems like working for him is going to be a problem. Belle responds that he might not have to worry about that any longer.

Mayor Rawlings goes to meet Abe and Paulina at Steve and Kayla’s. Rawlings assumes they called him over because they realized it’d be best for him to remain mayor while Abe focuses on recovering. Paulina says that’s incorrect. Abe announces that he intends to get his job back and he’s informed city council that he intends to make it official, so Rawlings’ tenure has come to an end. Rawlings argues that he can’t be serious since all of Salem saw him make a fool of himself and he’ll be laughed out of the office. Abe acknowledges that and clarifies that he only intends to stay in office long enough to appoint his successor, Paulina. Abe then introduces Mayor Paulina Price.

Shawn asks Belle if Abe can really do that. Belle confirms they checked and Abe has every right to appoint Paulina. Belle then gets a call from John. Belle says she’s with Shawn now. Belle says she’ll tell him and tells John that she loves him as she hangs up. Shawn asks Belle what it is. Belle then informs Shawn she’s so sorry to tell him this, but Victor is dead.

Kate sits at the bar of the Pub and looks at Philip’s number on her phone. Kate declares that Roman is right that she can’t keep it from him, so she has to tell Philip. Chloe then approaches Kate.

Xander sits alone in his office and thinks back to his last conversation with Victor about his wedding to Sarah where Victor acknowledged Xander as a true Kiriakis. Xander then starts to cry.

Justin is at the Kiriakis Mansion while on the phone with Bonnie. Justin encourages her going to her hair appointment since there was no sense in them both just pacing around. Justin mentions that he has not yet told Maggie about the plane crash as he was hoping to get some more information before breaking it to her. Justin notes that he and Bonnie are the only ones that know, but he can’t keep it to himself any longer, so he plans on telling the rest of the family today.

Alex is at his apartment, texting Justin to ask if there’s any update on Victor. Chad then shows up at his door. Alex tells Chad that he had no plans of telling Stephanie anything about Chad asking him to back off. Alex gives his word that he wasn’t going to say anything but they were in a meeting and they were pushing him. Chad informs him that Stephanie told him the whole story. Alex knows they had an agreement, so he’s sorry. Chad responds that he’s the one that should be sorry.

Kristen and Rachel are together at the DiMera Mansion. Rachel talks about all the toys that Kristen bought her. Kristen talks about how lucky she is to have her here and asks if she had fun at her sleepover. Rachel responds that she did, but not as much fun as Dimitri and Leo had on their sleepover.

In Iceland, Dimitri encourages Leo that he can hide in his own room and Gwen will never know. Leo tells Dimitri not to make this any harder. Dimitri tells Leo to at least kiss him goodbye. Leo responds that if he kisses him again, he’s not going to leave. Dimitri asks if he will at least see him later which Leo agrees to. Leo then opens the door to leave right as Gwen returns, shocked to see him as she asks what the hell Leo is doing in Iceland.

Brady sits in Rachel’s old room where John finds him. Brady says he came to check if Rachel forgot anything and he started going through things. Brady admits he’s having a hard time understanding that Rachel is not coming home and that he can’t even talk to her, so he feels like he lost her.

Kristen questions Rachel knowing who Lady Whistleblower is. Rachel responds that she saw him in the newspaper. Kristen asks why she thinks that Leo and Dimitri had a fun sleepover. Rachel informs her that she heard them laughing and they were in the same bed. Kristen doesn’t think she should talk about them being in the same bed anymore. Rachel questions why not. Kristen tells her that it’s a secret, so no one is supposed to know about Dimitri’s sleepover, especially his new wife.

Dimitri questions what Gwen is doing back so soon, as he thought she was visiting the lava fields. Gwen says she was and she got halfway there but it all felt wrong since Dimitri is her husband and they made a pledge to each other to stick by each other through sickness and health. Gwen questions what kind of wife she would be if she left him there all alone but it turns out he wasn’t alone. Gwen question what Dimitri was doing here with Leo.

Justin doesn’t expect the news of Victor’s plane crash to show up in Leo’s column since the authorities promised to keep it quiet for now. Justin adds that as much as he dreads it, he’s going to tell Maggie as soon as he sees her. Maggie then walks in and asks what he’s telling her, so Justin hangs up with Bonnie. Maggie questions what he was talking to Bonnie about. Justin explains that he’s been trying to get answers about Victor’s plane. Maggie asks if he figured out where Victor has been for the last three days or why he left earlier than he was supposed to. Justin says not exactly but he did talk to Shane and he wanted to get confirmation. Maggie asks Justin to tell her. Justin then reveals that it appears Victor’s plane went down in the Mediterranean.

Alex questions what Chad is sorry for. Chad says he was wrong to ask him to back off of Stephanie as that wasn’t his place. Chad acknowledges that Alex is Stephanie’s friend and he admits he got all worked up because he asked EJ for advice, but he won’t make that mistake again. Alex jokes that he could’ve told him that was a bad idea. Chad states that EJ told him, but he was the jackass that listened. Chad admits he was possessive, stupid, and wrong. Alex guesses that Stephanie gave him hell. Chad confirms that and says he shouldn’t have interfered in her personal life. Alex notes that he learned that lesson the hard way. Chad tells Alex to just forget he said anything and if Stephanie wants to hang out with him, that’s her business from now on. Stephanie enters and jokingly says she hopes she can handle making her own decisions.

John tells Brady that he can’t imagine how hard this is for him, but he’s really proud of him for not running off with Rachel as he did the right thing. Brady doesn’t feel it was the right thing since if he ran, he’d be with his daughter now. John says Brady knew that taking Rachel away from her friends and family and turning them into fugitives wouldn’t be a life for Rachel and that’s why he didn’t do it. Brady reveals that it was actually the words that John said to him that stopped him as he had the car packed but he kept hearing John say that they would have to look over their shoulders for the rest of their lives. John knew that wasn’t the life he wanted for his daughter. Brady says what he really didn’t want is for his daughter to grow up hating him and resenting him. John says there is nothing selfish about wanting your child’s love. Brady says that after he dropped Rachel off at Kristen’s, he did so something very selfish and stupid that he’s not proud of.

Gwen asks if Leo or Dimitri are going to tell her what’s going on here. Gwen asks Leo why he is here. Dimitri claims that he was just wondering the same thing but Leo just showed up at the door and he was about to ask what he wanted when Gwen arrived. Dimitri then asks why Leo is here. Gwen tells Leo to feel free to answer. Leo claims that he flew to Iceland to surprise Gwen on her honeymoon because it’s Madonna’s birthday.

Rachel tells Kristen that she didn’t know Dimitri had a wife. Kristen says they just got married so it’s very important that Gwen not know about the sleepover or about Leo. Rachel questions why it’s a secret. Kristen relates that it’s about a lot of money, so it has to stay between them. Gabi hides outside the front door and listens in.

Maggie asks what Justin means and what he’s saying. Justin explains that the US Coastguard is working with Greek officials to search the wreckage site. Justin knows it’s a terrible shock. Maggie asks if they found anyone. Justin says not yet but they are still looking. Justin notes that as of now, it’s not known if there were any survivors. Justin hugs Maggie as she starts to cry.

Chad tells Stephanie that he didn’t mean she needs his permission or anyone’s. Stephanie assures that she was just messing with him. Stephanie asks if they made up. Alex thinks they are good. Chad confirms he apologized and that Alex graciously accepted. Alex says no harm, no foul. Chad says now he has to go pick up the kids. Stephanie jokes that now Alex can give her a tour of his apartment as she hasn’t seen his bedroom yet. Chad realizes she’s going to keep torturing him. Chad kisses Stephanie goodbye and then exits. Stephanie assures Alex that she didn’t really want a tour of his bedroom.

Gabi enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion and greets Rachel and Kristen. Gabi returns the DiMera family heirloom to Kristen that she borrowed for her wedding. Rachel questions missing Gabi’s wedding. Gabi says it was kind of small and last minute but offers to show Rachel the pictures. Rachel wants to see Gabi’s dress. Kristen decides to take the heirloom upstairs and see if Charlotte and Thomas are done packing to go. Gabi shuts the door as Rachel asks about her dress. Gabi says she will show her, but she first asks Rachel what secret she and Kristen were talking about.

Gwen questions Leo saying he flew all the way out to Iceland to tell her that it’s Madonna’s birthday. Leo asks if that would be strange. Gwen calls it insane. Leo claims he didn’t come just to share that news. Gwen asks again why he came. Leo says it’s Madonna’s 65th birthday and that she’s giving a private concert to celebrate which happens to be in Iceland. Leo claims once he found that out, he knew he had to hop on a jet and come right to Iceland. Leo says it makes perfect sense to him. Gwen believes him and declares that the three of them should go to the concert together.

Brady tells John about kissing Chloe and says it wasn’t his finest hour as he did it for all the reasons since he just dropped Rachel off at Kristen’s and then he ran in to Xander, who gloated about proposing to Chloe. John understands Brady was being pounded by bad news from all sides. Brady brings up Victor missing and that Justin said he would call if he heard anything. Brady then gets a call from Justin and asks what the news is.

Rachel questions what Gabi means about a secret. Gabi says when she came in, she and Kristen were talking about a secret about a lot of money. Rachel says she’s not supposed to tell anyone. Gabi points out that they are family since she just married her uncle Stefan so she’s technically her aunt. Gabi encourages that family can share anything with each other. Rachel doesn’t think that’s true since Gwen is her cousin Dimitri’s wife and she definitely can’t know.

Leo didn’t know Gwen was a big Madonna fan. Gwen argues that everyone is and brings up the time they went to karaoke. Gwen asks what are the odds that Madonna is performing a super secret concert on her honeymoon. Gwen asks if they should get tickets. Dimitri claims he’s still not feeling well and isn’t sure he’s up to a concert. Gwen feels he doesn’t have a fever so she’s sure it’s just indigestion and will pass. Gwen adds that she’ll take such good care of him that he’ll be fine by tonight so they can all go together.

Alex asks Stephanie if he can tell Yuri that she’s on board for their collaboration with Basic Black now. Stephanie says that’s assuming Yuri still wants to work with them after they made a scene. Alex assures that he will and that he even liked it. Alex adds that Yuri already said they make a great team. Alex says he’ll text Yuri right now, but then gets a call from Justin. Alex mentions waiting on some news about Victor as he answers the call and asks if they found Victor. Alex is shocked by the response.

Gwen insists Dimitri is feeling better already. Dimitri laughs at Gwen calling Madonna the Queen of Pop and reveals he’s not a Madonna fan. Dimitri jokes that he has a hard time caring about any woman other than Gwen. Gwen questions Dimitri not liking Madonna’s music. Dimitri says he couldn’t name three of her songs. Leo argues that Dimitri is a snob and they go back and forth. Dimitri declares that Leo and Gwen can go without him then and they can enjoy the show together.

Chad goes to the DiMera Mansion where Kristen answers the door and tells him that the kids are packed up and ready to go. Chad mentions Thomas said they had a great time. Kristen assures that Rachel felt the same. Chad asks if Rachel is settling in as he guesses she must be missing Brady quite a bit. Kristen questions what that’s supposed to mean. Chad says it means nothing and just that as a father, he feels for him. Kristen insists that Rachel is doing great and loves their family home. Chad says he was just asking. Kristen asks about Chad’s evening and if he came clean with Stephanie about being an overbearing misogynist. Chad says sort of, but admits that Alex told her before he could. Kristen remarks on seeing that coming. Chad says it’s fine as they are working through it. Kristen asks if Stephanie forgave him. Chad says sort of, for the most part. Kristen warns that it could’ve been a big blunder. Kristen adds that Stefano would tell him to never give his enemies ammunition to use against him. Chad explains that Alex swore he didn’t tell her to sink him and that it just came out at a business meeting. Chad asks if Kristen doesn’t believe that. Kristen responds that she hopes that’s true for his sake.

Alex hangs up and informs Stephanie that Victor’s plane went down over the Mediterranean and they are searching the waters for survivors, but haven’t found anything yet. Stephanie encourages that it doesn’t mean they won’t find Victor. Alex holds back tears as he talks about Justin trying to get a hold of the ISA. Stephanie brings up Shane being her uncle so she offers to get a hold of him to get through the red tape to get him some answers. Alex says that would be great and thanks her.

Brady tells John that the coastguard is searching for survivors now. Brady decides he will go to the Kiriakis Mansion to comfort Maggie and invites John to come. John decides he will call some of his ISA contacts first and see if they can speed up the search or come up with more information. Brady says that would be great. Brady adds that he doesn’t know what he would do without John. John hopes they won’t have to worry about that anytime soon as they hug.

Maggie sits alone at home with a framed photo of Victor. Justin joins her and informs her that he told Brady everything. Maggie acknowledges that the whole family needs to be a part of this for Victor’s sake. Justin informs Maggie that Shane also shared some other information about Victor and about Bo. Justin reveals that Shane wasn’t able to give him Bo’s exact location but says the hospital where Bo is, is not anywhere near Greece. Maggie doesn’t understand if Victor went to visit Bo and questions why Victor’s plane was flying over the Mediterranean then. Justin says they don’t know the answer to that and there are a lot of things they don’t know, so they just have to hold onto hope that Victor is out there somewhere and can give them the answer when he comes back.

Leo questions Dimitri bailing on the concert. Dimitri says if they love Madonna, they can enjoy the show. Gwen reminds Dimitri that she won’t leave his side. Dimitri insists that it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that he’d hate for her to miss, so she could consider it a wedding gift from him. Gwen tells Leo that it’s just them then. Leo tells Gwen that she can’t come because he only has one ticket and the show is sold out. Gwen questions him not saying that in the first place. Leo claims it slipped his mind and that the show is exclusive. Gwen calls this weird and questioned why he showed up in the first place. Leo claims he came to gloat and says now he’s going to his room to shower and get ready. Leo tells them to enjoy the rest of their honeymoon without him as he then exits.

Gabi suggests to Rachel that if she can’t tell her the secret, they can play 20 questions so it won’t be like she’s telling her as they’d be playing a game. Gabi starts by asking if the secret is about anybody that lives in the DiMera Mansion. Rachel says yes but then Kristen comes in and asks what they were talking about. Gabi says they were just playing a game, so Kristen asks if she can play.

Brady goes to the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie thanks him for coming. Brady asks how she’s holding up. Maggie responds that she’s still standing. Brady asks if there’s any news. Justin says not since he called him. Brady talks about thinking about Victor on the whole way over. Brady talks about Victor being a survivor and how he probably had backup plans if the plane went down. Brady jokes that Victor could be drinking on an island now. John then enters and greets them. John hopes he’s not interrupting as Henderson let him in. Maggie says they are happy he’s there as she hugs him. Brady asks if John learned anything. John confirm that he just spoke to Shane. Justin mentions speaking with Shane earlier and asks if there’s an update. John reveals that there is.

Stephanie gets a call from Steve and asks if he found anything out. Stephanie thanks him for calling and then hangs up in shock. Alex asks her what it is. Stephanie turns to Alex with a sad look, so Alex guesses that it’s bad news.

John announces that he’s sorry to report that they’ve recovered Victor’s body. Maggie then breaks down crying as John hugs her.

Stephanie informs Alex that Victor’s body was found by the coastguard and she’s so sorry. Alex begins to cry as Stephanie hugs him.

Justin asks John if it’s confirmed. John confirms that Victor is dead. John hugs Brady as he cries while Justin hugs Maggie.

Gwen and Dimitri are on their honeymoon in Iceland. Gwen talks about how incredible it is while Dimitri looks less enthused as he texts Leo, asking where he is and why he’s not answering his texts. Gwen tells Dimitri that she has two things planned for them today, a hike and then a soak in the hot springs. Gwen suggests they get moving since it’s high tourist season so they can get ahead of the crowds. Gwen questions why he doesn’t look that excited and asks if something is wrong. Dimitri thinks back to being with Leo. Gwen asks if there’s something else he would prefer to do today.

Abe watches Body & Soul as Steve walks in. Abe explains that he’s studying because this episode was interrupted by one of his press conferences as mayor. Steve asks if he’s easing himself back in but Abe reveals he’s jumping in to the deep end as he’s preparing for his first press conference back as Mayor of Salem.

Chanel sits at home with a coffee as Paulina walks in and says she knows she’s worried about the Bakery closing, but she’s going to set things right. Chanel appreciates whatever she’s planning but says she actually wasn’t thinking about that right now. Paulina asks what’s on her mind then. Chanel responds that she saw Talia last night and she told her that she has feelings for her.

Talia exits the Brady Pub and runs in to Johnny, who is finishing a phone call. Talia says she’s really glad she ran in to him. Johnny says he’s in a bit of a rush but Talia assures it won’t take long and that she really needs to talk to him about Chanel. Johnny asks what about Chanel. Talia thinks back to her therapy with Marlena, encouraging her to acknowledge her romantic feelings for Chanel. Talia then tells Johnny that the last time he saw her, he expressed her concern about her hurting Chanel and she just wanted to let him know that she’s not going to do that.

Paulina questions if Chanel is sure Talia’s feelings aren’t the pretend kind she had before. Chanel doesn’t want to start this but Paulina brings up what Talia put her through. Chanel notes that Talia says her feelings are real this time, even though she intended before to break her heart but she actually started to feel something and that’s why she stopped Colin from hurting them. Paulina says she’s very protective of her and admits she would rather see Chanel with someone who hasn’t hurt her like Talia has. Paulina then decides maybe she’s getting ahead of herself. Paulina brings up that when they started talking about it, Chanel never said how she feels about Talia.

At the hospital, Kayla meets with Marlena, who asks how Abe is. Kayla says they finally got him situated at their place and he had begun to relax but that’s over as he decided to go back to being the Mayor of Salem and she doesn’t think he’s ready.

Steve questions Abe calling a press conference and why the press isn’t banging down the door for a statement. Abe reveals that acting Mayor Rawlings called the press conference, so he’s going to crash it and announce his triumphant return.

Dimitri tells Gwen that he doesn’t care what they do as long as they do it together. Gwen says she feels the same and decides they could just stay in. Dimitri calls that enticing but decides they should check out the sights while they are in Iceland. Dimitri tells Gwen to go check in and get their tickets, then he will meet her in the lobby. Gwen jokes about giving the bed a workout tonight as she kisses him. Gwen says she will see him in a bit then and exits. Dimitri then checks his phone and guesses Leo had another attack of conscience. Leo then shows up at the door.

Talia tells Johnny that she knows she’s hurt Chanel in the past but she just wants her to be happy. Johnny thinks back to telling Marlena that he might still have romantic feelings for Chanel. Johnny then tells Talia that’s one thing they have in common. Talia knows he cares about Chanel a lot, so this probably means they will never be friends but she hopes moving forward, they can at least be civil with one another. Talia offers him a coffee as a peace offering. Johnny is surprised she remembered how he likes his coffee. Talia recalls him coming in to the Bakery and says it’s how she likes it too. Johnny calls it a start and thanks her as Talia then walks away.

Chanel tells Paulina that she’s not really sure how she feels about Talia as it’s complicated. Chanel thinks she can get past what Talia did to her and they could be friends. Paulina questions if it’s just friends. Chanel says when Talia told her how she felt, her heart did skip a beat, but her head is nowhere near ready to trust her again. Paulina encourages Chanel to take her time since Talia has put her through a lot, so it’s completely understandable that she’s not willing to rush in to anything. Chanel thanks her and says she’s glad they can talk like this. Chanel asks about Paulina with Abe moving out. Paulina says it’s still hard but she just has to wait and be patient which she’s trying to do. Chanel encourages that Abe will come around and remember who she is. Paulina says that moment can’t come soon enough.

Marlena understands Abe wanting to get back to work, especially if he can help Chanel with the Bakery, but worries that the job of Mayor come with a lot of pressure. Kayla adds that there’s the press on top of that and the story with Whitley King is huge, so the press have been clamoring for a glimpse of Abe. Kayla worries that if Abe jumps in to the spotlight too soon, he will get burned.

Abe tells Steve that he doesn’t remember the particulars of their friendship, but he doesn’t believe it entails seeking his permission for every decision he makes in life. Steve admits he’s not wrong and that Abe always was his own man which is still the case. Steve states that he and Kayla have been talking about Abe’s intentions of going back to work and they both think it’s too soon. Steve brings up that a week ago, Abe didn’t remember his wife’s name and the press won’t have patience in waiting for him to answer their questions. Steve says he hates to say this, but he thinks Abe is going to crash and burn and the press will rip him apart. Steve adds that they’ll cut in to today’s episode of Body and Soul to make sure everyone sees it.

Dimitri brings Leo inside and kisses him, expressing how glad he is that he came. Leo complains about the flight while Dimitri questions Leo wearing his snow outfit when it’s August. They kiss until Dimitri tells Leo that he’d love to continue but Leo can’t stay. Leo talks about seeing Gwen head out. Dimitri worries that she could be back any second. They then hear Gwen’s key card, so Dimitri sends Leo to hide. Gwen then walks in and questions if Dimitri was talking to someone as she could’ve sworn she heard voices. Dimitri claims he was on his phone with an app to learn Icelandic. Gwen calls it very sweet of him. Leo listens in as he hides in the bathroom. Gwen asks Dimitri if he’s ready to go. Dimitri then claims that he’s having some issues after eating yogurt. Gwen feels that he is warm. Dimitri says he’d hate for Gwen to miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity, so he says she can go and he’ll spend time in bed to get better, then he’ll join her at the Hot Springs later but Gwen says no way. Gwen says she is his devoted wife, so she will nurse him back to health. Gwen reminds him that they are on their honeymoon, so there’s nowhere else she’d rather be than with her husband as Leo remains listening in.

Paulina goes to Steve’s to see Abe and asks if he’s ready to go. Steve informs Paulina that Abe is having second thoughts about this. Abe denies that and says he can speak for himself. Steve reminds Abe of what they talked about. Abe says it didn’t change his mind. Steve insists that Abe is not ready for this. Abe questions Steve deciding that. Paulina argues that Abe is a grown man, so they need to respect that Abe can make his own decisions which will help him start to be the man he was. Paulina says she will help Abe in to his wheelchair and then they can go but Abe declares that as Mayor, he needs to stand on his own two feet. Abe then stands up and suggests they go kick Mayor Rawlings to the curb. Paulina says she’ll be right by his side. Steve wishes Abe luck. Abe and Paulina then exit together.

Johnny goes to see Marlena and asks if she has time to finish their talk since they got interrupted. Marlena says she does and tells him to sit down. Marlena assumes he wants to talk about his feelings for Chanel and asks if he’s had a chance to clarify those feelings. Johnny confirms he’s 100% sure that he has feelings for Chanel and that he wants her back in his life as more than just a friend, but he’s not sure whether or not he should act on these feelings.

Chanel looks at a photo of Abe and Paulina at home. Chanel then goes to leave right as Talia shows up at the door. Talia asks if it’s a bad time. Chanel says she was just about to go for a run to clear her head. Talia offers to come back another time but Chanel says she’s in no rush and invites her in. Chanel asks her what’s going on. Talia says it’s about what she said yesterday about having feelings for her. Talia decides she’s taking it back.

Johnny tells Marlena that he knew he had feelings for Chanel, but he didn’t realize how deep they were until he heard she was considering becoming friends with Talia again. Johnny feels like he wants to protect Chanel and maybe that’s just him wanting to play knight in shining armor. Johnny talks about being Chanel’s go-to when she needs a shoulder to cry on and says that’s been nice and makes him feel important. Johnny brings up when he and Chanel were married in Italy. Johnny says that was real and then it all just ended so abruptly and horribly, but before that it was amazing. Johnny declares that it felt more real than any moment he’s ever had in his life. Marlena asks if he’s told Chanel about that. Johnny admits he hasn’t, so Marlena asks why not.

Chanel questions Talia taking back what she said and asks if she doesn’t have feelings for her then. Talia says she shouldn’t have put her on the spot like that as it wasn’t fair. Talia adds that her feelings for Chanel are her problem, not Chanel’s, and she doesn’t want to ruin their chance at a real friendship. Talia asks Chanel to forget she ever said anything. Chanel asks what if she doesn’t want to forget it.

Leo continues listening in as Gwen asks what she can get Dimitri. Dimitri doesn’t want her to worry about him and urges her to go off and enjoy herself. Gwen refuses to leave his side but Dimitri wants her to and says it will only make him feel worse if she’s not out there enjoying Iceland. Dimitri claims it will lift his spirits to know at least one of them was enjoying the beautiful country. Gwen asks if he’s sure and worries about him being alone. Dimitri repeats that he’ll be happy knowing she’s having fun. Gwen decides he’s not giving her a choice, so she supposes she will just seem later then. Dimitri tells her to have fun as Gwen then exits. Leo comes out and jokes that he thought he’d be stuck in there forever. Leo then tells Dimitri to take him in bed.

Mayor Clint Rawlings begins his press conference in the town square. He says he has called them here to announce plans for the rest of his term, but Abe interrupts and declares that won’t be necessary. Paulina jokes that Rawlings came to make a speech, but now he’s speechless. Rawlings remarks that it’s good to see Abe back on his feet and he appreciates him showing up to support him, but thinks he should still be resting and has a long recovery ahead of him. Abe knows he’d prefer that he stay in bed but declares that’s over. Abe adds that they are all eager to hear what might be Rawlings’ agenda, he has an announcement to make. Abe then announces that as of this moment, he is returning to his full duties as Mayor of Salem, and his first official act will be to reopen his stepdaughter’s Bakery.

Johnny guesses he hasn’t told Chanel how he feels yet is because he doesn’t know if it’s the right time. Marlena asks why that is. Johnny brings up that Chanel has been through so much already and is now dealing with the Bakery being closed again. Johnny adds that he just made a serious play for Wendy Shin and lost, so it might not look good to move on so quickly. Johnny brings up that he just went to New Zealand to visit Allie and things were great between them, but they were at each others’ throats for quite awhile over Chanel. Johnny states that even though Allie has moved on and is happy with someone else, he doesn’t know if he wants to put Chanel between them again. Marlena feels he is concerned about other people having feelings or thoughts but all that matters is how Johnny feels and thinks about it. Marlena adds that it’s always a risk to open up to somebody about your feelings and not being sure they feel the same way, but assures that it’s worth the risk. Marlena calls Johnny a courageous young man so she knows he can handle whatever happens. Johnny thanks her and jokes that she’s pretty good at this. Johnny decides that he’s going to tell Chanel how he feels. Marlena tells him to let her know what happens. Johnny agrees to do so as he then exits the office.

Talia tells Chanel that she doesn’t have to say that to be nice. Chanel says that’s not why she’s saying it. Talia asks if that means there’s a chance. Chanel admits Talia caught her really off guard with all this, but she’d be lying if she said she didn’t feel something for her too. Chanel brings up when they kissed and almost slept together. Chanel admits she really wanted to be with her. Talia says she was just confused but that’s what she wanted too. Talia asks what they do now.

Mayor Rawlings argues that he was morally justified and had every legal right to close the Bakery because Chanel poisoned half the town. Paulina shouts that it was not her doing and that Chanel was a victim of a crime and that Rawlings used his power to carry out a personal vendetta. Abe says Paulina isn’t wrong but he doesn’t want to hash this out in public. Abe informs Rawlings that he wants his resignation on his desk by the end of the day. Rawlings responds that he cannot in good conscience let a man without his full faculties take office. Abe argues that he’s more than capable of executing his duties as Mayor. Rawlings argues that Abe’s judgment before his injury was questionable at best and perhaps he doesn’t remember. Rawlings reminds Abe that he appointed Rafe, who admitted to having a sexual relationship with a subordinate. Rawlings remarks that they should both be ashamed of themselves.

Kayla goes home to Steve and asks him what’s wrong. Steve responds that he did everything he could to keep Abe from making a big mistake.

Paulina questions Mayor Rawlings saying she should be ashamed of herself. Rawlings remarks that Paulina has always put her own interests over the people of Salem and brings up when she first came to town with a scheme to destroy the town square and claims that she is now turning a blind eye to Chanel’s negligence and is dragging her sick husband out of bed. Abe confronts Rawlings and declares that he is not sick and has fully recovered. Rawlings remarks that Abe won’t mind taking some questions from the press then. Members of the press begin asking if Abe got his memory back, if he thinks he’s fit for office, and how he responds to the accusations about attempts to open the Bakery.

Dimitri and Leo lay in bed after having sex. Dimitri calls this perfect while Leo points out that he’s on his honeymoon with his best friend. Leo says on the way, he kept telling himself that he cannot do this to himself or to Gwen. Leo insists that he cannot go on like this. Leo mentions that there’s a direct flight back to Salem. Dimitri kisses him and says that was to shut him up. Leo jokes that it will take a lot more than that to shut him up as they continue kissing.

Chanel tells Talia that she doesn’t know what happens next but they need to take it slow. Talia agrees and decides she should go. Talia suggests they should hang out some time. Chanel mentions a free concert at the park tonight and invites Talia. Talia say she would love to. Johnny arrives outside the door right as he hears Chanel and Talia agreeing that it’s a date. Johnny then walks away disappointed.

The press asks Abe who he intends to name as deputy mayor if Rawlings resigns. Abe responds that he’s not sure yet. The press asks for names of candidates. Rawlings remarks that Abe doesn’t know the name of any of the people who work in his administration. Another member of the press asks about Shawn as police commissioner. Abe says he’ll get back to him on that. Another member asks if there’s been any improvement on his long term memory. Abe insists that he’s perfectly capable of being Mayor. A member of the press asks if Abe can name any of the members of the city council or even his own daughter, but Abe remains silent.

Steve hopes Abe isn’t being barraged by questions as he doesn’t know how he can handle it. Marlena arrives. Kayla tells her that Abe went through with it. Marlena responds that she was just checking on social media. Kayla asks what they said. Marlena reads an article that Abe’s return to the spotlight has turned out to be something he wishes he could forget.

Dimitri questions Leo’s hurry to leave when Gwen will be gone for hours and then he can hide in his own room and she’ll never know. Leo tells Dimitri not to make this any harder. Dimitri tells Leo to at least kiss him goodbye. Leo responds that if he kisses him again, he’s not going to leave. Dimitri asks if he will at least see him later which Leo agrees to. Leo then opens the door to leave right as Gwen returns, shocked to see him.

Gabi is opening wedding gifts at home when Li Shin shows up at the door.

Stefan goes to Melinda’s office. She questions him not being on his honeymoon. Stefan responds that he should be but it’s hard to enjoy his newly wedded bliss when the man who tried to kill him is still roaming free. Stefan questions when Melinda and the new police commissioner are going to do something about it.

Belle and Shawn sit together at the Brady Pub. Belle asks if Rafe and Jada gave him a hard time about being police commissioner. Shawn says they didn’t and asks what Kristen had to say. Belle explains that she was just panicking but Brady showed up and dropped Rachel off as planned. Shawn says it still boggles his mind how Brady lost custody and that he must be going out of his mind. Belle confirms he is and mentions that John called as well, worried about Brady’s reaction as he hopes he doesn’t do anything rash..

Brady goes to Chloe’s apartment and kisses her until she pulls away and questions what the hell he thinks he’s doing.

Maggie tells Xander that Brady told her that he proposed to Chloe which he confirms. Xander points out that Sarah moved on, so he figured it was time that he did the same. Maggie responds that there is something she has to tell him. Justin then comes back in to the room and announces that Victor’s plane is missing. Maggie questions how it could be missing. Justin responds that the Titan jet was scheduled to arrive an hour ago but it never landed. Xander asks about last communication from the pilot. Justin says they are checking the radar but there is no sign of them. Maggie questions how this could be possible and asks if Justin thinks the plane crashed.

Gabi asks what Li is doing at the DiMera Mansion. Li responds that he heard she and Stefan got married, so he brought her a gift. Gabi asks if it’s a bomb. Li says he would never hurt her and repeats that he had nothing to do with Harris Michaels’ attempt on Stefan’s life. Gabi tells him to cut the act as she and Stefan both know he was involved and that they are going to prove it.

Melinda reminds Stefan that she did her best to put Li behind bars but Harris Michaels pointed the finger at Megan as he said he remembered her and Dr. Rolf plotting his death, but not Li. Stefan argues that they both know it’s not true since Li was acting very suspiciously that night and insisting that Wendy not to go their party, because he knew something was going to happen. Melinda questions where the proof is and says without a smoking gun, her hands are tied. Stefan says he gets it and questions the lack of evidence being the only reason she’s not going after Li or if it’s because she’s dating him.

Belle apologizes to Shawn for leaving him with Jada and Rafe during that very awkward moment. Shawn says not to worry about it as it didn’t last long. Belle explains that she would’ve come back in sooner but she ran in to Chloe outside, who had big news. Belle announces that Xander proposed to Chloe which shocks Shawn, who hopes that she didn’t say yes. Belle informs him that Chloe said she is taking time to mull it over. Shawn asks what in the hell is wrong with her. Shawn complains that Xander is a menace and a would-be killer. Belle assures that she told her all those things but Chloe insisted that Xander regrets all his past mistakes and is a changed man. Belle adds that Chloe also said if she wants to keep being her friend, she has to accept Xander as part of her life.

Brady apologizes to Chloe and says he wasn’t thinking as he just feels the pull between them all the time. Chloe reminds him that they are not together anymore and she’s with Xander now. Brady mentions running in to Xander, who told him that he proposed to her which Chloe confirms. Brady adds that he also said Chloe didn’t answer him, so he takes that to mean there’s a possibility he can talk her out of marrying that creep.

Justin tells Maggie that they shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Alex encourages that the plane could just be delayed. Maggie questions being unable to locate the plane. Justin notes it being tricky since Victor didn’t file a flight plan. Bonnie questions why he didn’t. Maggie explains that Victor went to visit Bo in an undisclosed location, so he didn’t want to leave a paper trail in case Megan was keeping tabs on Bo. Maggie adds that Victor never told her where Bo is and didn’t call her while he was gone in order to be on the safe side. Maggie knows it’s a long shot but tries calling Victor.

Li tells Gabi that he’s disappointed as he hoped now that she’s happily married, maybe they could be friends. Gabi asks if he’s kidding and asks why she would trust him. Li points out that she got married and he didn’t try to stop the wedding or murder the groom, so he thinks that’s a start. Gabi questions his nice guy act and tells him to take his olive branch and shove it, then he can leave her and her husband alone. Li responds that he got that message loud and clear when she showed up at his home and waved a gun in his face. Li says the last thing he wants to do is interfere with her happiiness. Gabi says she’ll only know for sure that he won’t try when he’s locked up in prison. Li assures that won’t happen. Gabi asks if that’s because he’s screwing the district attorney.

Melinda questions Stefan knowing that she’s seeing Li and asks if he’s spying on her. Stefan reveals that he read it in Leo’s column in the Spectator. Melinda clarifies that they were set up on a blind date and they were not thrilled. Melinda calls their first date a dumpster fire. Stefan asks what happened so Melinda reveals that she tried to trick Li in to confessing on tape, but he figured it out and stormed off. Stefan points out that Melinda said first date, so he asks if there was a second. Melinda admits it was unexpected but it went well and they planned another but he left before that even began, and she hasn’t heard from him since. Stefan insists that she’s much better off. Melinda remarks that it was rather nice having her feelings returned for once. Stefan assures that he thinks the world of her. Melinda says she’s in no mood for a pity party and she is not letting Li off the hook so there is no conflict of interest. Stefan wants to talk about how she’s going to put that psychopath behind bars then.

Chloe tells Brady that he’s way out of line calling Xander a creep. Brady brings up Xander leaving Chloe with a dangrous drug lord, shooting him and leaving him to die, as well as shooting Marlena at her wedding. Chloe acknowledges that Xander has done some terrible things in the past, but they have too. Brady argues that what he did to Susan and Bonnie isn’t in the past. Chloe insists that she has felt Xander’s regret first hand and she knows it’s genuine. Chloe knows Xander can be stubborn, arrogant, and impulsive but she’s also got to know him as kind and gentle. Brady asks if Chloe is in love with Xander. Chloe doesn’t want to have this conversation with him. Brady calls it a simple question and Chloe not giving him a straight answer tells him that what she has with Xander can’t hold a candle to what they once had. Chloe complains that what they had crashed and burned in spectacular fashion. Brady argues that their chemistry is still there and always will be. Brady tells Chloe that he loves her and he’s pretty sure she loves him too, so all that’s left to do is for her to tell Xander to take a hike and come back to him.

Maggie tried calling Victor but it went straight to voicemail. Xander suggests maybe he’s still with Bo and Hope. Bonnie asks if there’s any way to get a hold of Hope. Maggie says she doesn’t have her burner phone’s number, but she knows somebody who does.

Belle tells Shawn that’s enough about everybody else’s drama since they are here to celebrate Shawn’s big promotion. Shawn then gets a call from Maggie and bets it’s about Victor’s homecoming dinner which he sort of blew off. Shawn answers the call and says he’s sorry he couldn’t make it to dinner tonight. Maggie says she needs him to call Hope right away. Shawn asks what’s going on. Maggie informs him that Victor is missing.

Li tells Gabi that it’s crass to inquire about other people’s sex lives, but says he is not screwing Melinda Trask. Gabi brings up Leo’s column in the Spectator and asks if he’s romancing the district attorney or not and if he thinks he’ll be so good in the sack that Melinda will forget to prosecute him. Li jokes that’s not a bad idea and that Gabi never had any complaints in that department. Gabi remarks that she was being polite because she didn’t want to bruise his ego. Li knows that’s not true but says his relationship with Melinda has nothing to do with Gabi or Stefan. Li states that he’s just a heartbroken guy trying to move on and that he got a matchmaker so they don’t have to do this whole thing anymore. Gabi doesn’t care about his life and tells him to stay out of her life as she slams the door in his face.

Melinda tells Stefan that she would love to see justice prevail but without evidence, there’s not much she can do. Stefan argues that she’s a shark and he knows how brilliant, resourceful, and talented she is. Stefan believes she can get the conviction without the evidence and she just has to be creative. Melinda responds that she’s not breaking the law to help him. Stefan responds that he’s asking her to do whatever she can within the law to lock Li up so he can never come after he or Gabi again. Melinda questions if Li has threatened them lately. Stefan says no but he’s sure the news of their wedding will push him over the edge and he doesn’t want to spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulder. Stefan asks if Melinda wants to go to his funeral. Melinda jokes that it depends if it’s on a weekend or weekday.

Shawn calls Hope and leaves a message to get back to him. Belle worries about Maggie. Shawn encourages that there’s no reason to panic yet as there are plenty of reasons Victor’s plane could be missing. Belle agrees with thinking positively. Shawn hopes that Hope has some answers so he can put Maggie’s mind at ease. Shawn then gets a call and assumes it’s Hope.

Chloe reminds Brady that they both agreed their relationship is over and done. Chloe says they are good and they had so many obstacles which nothing has changed. Brady points out that Rachel is living with Kristen now. Chloe asks if he’s suggesting he take her behind his daughter’s back. Chloe insists that Rachel would feel so betrayed. Brady would suggest that Rachel would realize he’s in love and even be happy for them. Chloe feels he’s living in a fantasy land. Chloe adds that even if Rachel wasn’t a factor, she has moved on with Xander. Chloe says she will always care about Brady, but right now, the man she wants to be with is Xander.

Maggie prays for Victor to be with Bo and Hope. Justin assures that Shawn will call back any minute to let them know. Justin encourages Maggie to try to relax. Maggie says this is not how she envisioned this night going as it was supposed to be a joyful reunion with all of their family. Maggie knew the dinner could turn in to a big shouting match ending with Victor storming out, but she was so hopeful. Alex jokes that he would be disappointed if Victor didn’t call him an idiot a few more times. Xander relates and Bonnie jokes that she came to enjoy Victor’s insults as it made her feel like part of the family. Justin encourages that there will be plenty of insults to go around when Victor returns, especially when he finds out they were worried for no reason. Maggie then gets a call back from Shawn and asks if Victor is still with Hope. Shawn reveals that he is not. Maggie asks if Hope knew if Victor’s flight took off late. Shawn responds that it’s actually the opposite and that Victor took off early, three days ago.

Stefan goes home to Gabi, who resumed opening their wedding gifts. Stefan mentions finding another gift at the door, which Gabi says he needs to get rid of right now.

Li finds Melinda at the bar and says he’s so glad he ran in to her. Melinda jokes about him dashing out on their last date. Li asks to explain but Melinda assumes he’s just not that in to her. Li states that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Alex questions where Victor has been if he left three days ago. Maggie says Hope didn’t know and assumed he was headed home. Bonnie questions Victor being missing for three whole days. Justin guesses he made a stop somewhere. Bonnie questions not letting Maggie know if he was flying somewhere. Bonnie then apologizes for making everyone worry more. Maggie responds that she couldn’t be more worried than she is now. Justin decides to call Shane at the ISA as maybe he can find them some answers.

Belle questions Shawn about Victor leaving Hope three days ago. Shawn says that Hope said Victor was being vague about his plans, so she just assumed he was heading home. Shawn adds that Hope said Victor seemed distracted, like something was weighing on him. Belle wonders if that had something to do with his disappearance.

Justin says that Shane said he’d look into it, but not to expect any answers anytime soon. Maggie doesn’t think there’s any reason for everyone to stick around then. Alex and Xander both offer to stick around but Maggie assures that she’ll be alright with Bonnie and Justin, so they should go. Maggie promises to keep everyone up to date. Xander encourages that it’s just a misunderstanding and that Victor will be home any moment. Maggie hopes he’s right. Xander remembers that Maggie said she had something to tell him earlier, so he asks what it was.

Brady questions is Chloe is really going to marry Xander. Chloe responds that she hasn’t decided that yet, but they are in a committed relationship, so for now, she’s only willing to offer Brady friendship. Brady agrees to try to understand this. Chloe thanks him and says no more impulsive kisses or wanting her to come back to him. Brady promises she won’t find him outside her room at 2 AM. Brady declares that if Xander is what she wants, he will try to accept that. Chloe thanks him as they shake hands and agree to be friends.

Maggie claims to Xander that she doesn’t remember what she was going to say. Xander reminds her that he was talking about marrying Chloe and moving on like Sarah had. Maggie thinks back to talking to Bonnie about Xander having a right to know that he’s going to be a father. Maggie then claims to Xander that it wasn’t important and they can talk about it some other time. Xander tells her to let her know as soon as she hears anything about Victor. Maggie promises to do so as Xander hugs her.

Shawn suggests maybe Victor just needed time to himself before returning home. Belle says he would have to know that Maggie would worry. Shawn notes that Victor has never been known to be considerate of other peoples’ feelings. Shawn points out that Victor blamed him for what happened to Bo and he hasn’t spoken to him for months because of that. Shawn wonders if something happened to Victor and says he would feel terrible, worrying about if he never gets a chance to work things out with him.

Li explains to Melinda that before they met up the last time, he had a long talk with his sister Wendy, who convinced him that he couldn’t trust her after she tried to record him. Li admits that got in to his head and he couldn’t get it out, so when they met up, he fled. Li admits it was cowardly and he’s sorry. Li says he’d like to wipe the slate clean and get back on track. Melinda asks if he’s not worried anymore that she’s trying to ensnare him. Li confirms he’s not and repeats that he’s an innocent man which means he has nothing to fear from her. Melinda thinks back to Stefan urging her to convict Li. Melinda then tells Li that he has nothing to fear as the more they’ve gotten to know each other, the more she believes in his innocence but she understands if he’d have trouble believing her. Melinda asks if Li is sure he wants to give this another go. Li thinks back to his argument with Gabi earlier and then responds that there’s nothing he would like more.

Stefan can’t believe Li would show up like that. Gabi explains that Li wanted a fresh start and to be friends, but says that Li probably wanted to drop a bomb on them. Stefan says Li wouldn’t be stupid enough to gift wrap a bomb to them, knowing it would be traced back to him. Gabi still wants Stefan to get rid of it. Stefan questions if she’s not the least bit curious as to what might be in it. Gabi mocks the idea of giving in to their curiosity and then see the house in flames. Stefan assures there’s not a bomb in the box. Stefan then shakes it and they begin to hear ticking inside the box. Gabi argues that it’s a bomb but Stefan is still not convinced. Stefan opens the gift and it’s a clock. Gabi brings up that Li once told her that in Chinese culture, giving a clock as a gift is bad luck and is essentially wishing someone dead.

Melinda and Li talk about enjoying their date. Melinda brings up Stefan and Gabi’s wedding, guessing he must be a bit bummed by that. Li admits that it was a kick in the gut but says it helps to have a fascinating, gorgeous woman sitting across from him. Li asks if Melinda still has some lingering feelings for Stefan, but Melinda asks Stefan who? Li then toasts to them getting it right this time and starting over. Melinda promises no more hidden agendas.

Xander tells Maggie that as soon as Victor gets home, they will have that dinner and will make a much bigger effort to get along. Bonnie points out that Maggie must be starving but Maggie says she doesn’t have much of an appetite and is going to lay down. Maggie asks them to wake her up if they hear anything. Justin feels by tomorrow morning, Victor will have come home. Bonnie offers to help Maggie settle in upstairs but she insists that she’s fine. Bonnie hugs Maggie and tells her it will be okay. Maggie then heads upstairs. Alex tells Justin that he didn’t want to say anything in front of Maggie, but this whole thing doesn’t sound very good at all. Justin admits he doesn’t know what to think. Alex guesses now they just wait. Justin encourages him to pray and try to stay positive. Alex says to keep him posted as they hug. Alex then exits. Bonnie knows waiting is so hard for Justin and says she will go check on Maggie but Justin gets a call back from Shane.

Brady tells Chloe that he better get out of here before he embarrasses himself further. Xander then comes home and guesses Brady rode in to talk Chloe out of accepting his marriage proposal. Brady admits that he tried but that Xander will be happy to know that he failed miserably. Brady says he’ll see himself out but Xander says there’s something he should know about Victor. Brady asks about the homecoming dinner but Xander reveals there wasn’t one as Victor is missing.

Belle encourages Shawn not to go there because they don’t even know if something’s wrong, so there’s no point in torturing himself. Shawn agrees that Victor could be home any minute and when he is, they can sit down and repair their relationship. Shawn says moments like this make you realize what’s important. Shawn hopes they get some answers soon.

Justin thanks Shane and says to let him know if he hears anything else as they hang up. Bonnie asks what he said. Justin informs her that the coast guard found wreckage from the Titan jet which appears to have gone down over the Mediterranean. Bonnie asks about Victor. Justin says there’s no word on any survivors. Bonnie hugs Justin as they are in disbelief.

Chad questions why the hell Stephanie threw wine in his face. Stephanie then reveals that she knows he went behind her back and warned Alex to stay away from her.

Alex remains at the bar and says sorry Chad, so much for their gentlemen’s agreement. Justin arrives and says Alex wasn’t answering his phone, so he tracked him down. Justin tells Alex that it’s urgent and it’s about his uncle Victor.

Maggie joins Bonnie in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie mentions that she just got back from Chicago as she paid Sarah a quick visit. Bonnie asks how she was. Maggie responds that there’s no reason to dance around the pregnant elephant in the room as she knows her daughter is having a baby.

In Chicago, Sarah informs Rex that Maggie knows she’s pregnant after popping for a surprise visit to find out why she hadn’t told her that they were supposedly back together. Rex guesses they have Bonnie to thank for that which Sarah confirms, but notes that Bonnie kept the pregnancy to herself. Sarah explains that Maggie took one look at her and that was that. Sarah adds that she tried to convince Maggie it was Rex’s but she saw right through her and knew it was Xander’s, so she doesn’t know what to do. Rex asks if Sarah thinks Maggie is going to run over and tell Xander. Sarah admits that Maggie promised to keep the secret but worries that she might change her mind or it might slip out. Rex assures that Sarah can trust Maggie. Sarah worries that too many people know so it’s only a matter of time before one of them blabs to Xander and once they do, there’s nothing she can do stop him from being a part of her child’s life. Rex responds that actually, there is and suggests that she can marry him.

Belle walks by the Brady Pub, on the phone with John, telling him that she just talked to Kristen and that Brady had to bring Rachel back like the court ordered. Belle assures that she’s not giving up and they are going to get through this like they always do as a family. Belle hangs up as Chloe walks up and says she didn’t mean to eavesdrop but that sounded ominous. Chloe asks if something is going on with her family. Belle informs Chloe that Brady was forced to give Rachel back to Kristen.

Brady sits alone in the town square as Xander approaches and tells him to cheer up. Brady responds that he is the last person he wants to share oxygen with. Xander thinks he knows what this is about and says Brady has his sympathies. Xander adds that it must have been devastating for Brady to find out that he and Chloe are getting hitched.

Bonnie tells Maggie that she’s so sorry as she really wanted to tell her about Sarah’s pregnancy but she swore her to secrecy. Bonnie says she’s just glad that Sarah finally came clean to her. Maggie responds that she didn’t have a choice as the truth is obvious. Bonnie guesses Sarah must be ready to pop by now. Maggie says not quite. Bonnie guesses it’s good news for Maggie and Victor to have another grandchild. Bonnie tries to go along with Rex being the father but Maggie tells her to save it as she meant she knows everything including Xander being the father of her unborn grandchild.

Xander asks Brady if he’s so upset because he heard he asked Chloe to marry him, but Brady says no and explains that he lost custody of his daughter to Kristen. Xander calls that a kick in the bollocks. Brady hopes that Xander was joking about he and Chloe because there’s no way she’s going to marry him. Xander assures that he’s dead serious about that. Xander admits he may have jumped the gun on the announcement as Chloe is mulling over his proposal. Brady points out that means she didn’t say yes. Xander tells him that he’s giving her space to decide, but he fully intends to make Chloe Lane in to Chloe Cook.

Chloe sits with Belle and asks how Brady is doing. Belle confirms that he is horrified and that he’s going to need a lot of support dealing with all of this, so she hopes he can count on Chloe. Chloe asks what she means since they aren’t together anymore. Belle points out that they are still friends and been in each other’s lives forever. Chloe reminds her that she’s with Xander now and Brady hasn’t been supportive of their relationship. Belle asks if she can blame him and calls Xander a criminal and a total loser. Chloe takes offense to that while Belle argues that she knows it’s true and she can’t compare what she had with Brady to whatever is going on with Xander. Chloe argues that Belle doesn’t know anything about their relationship. Belle remarks that Xander isn’t capable of making any real commitment. Chloe then reveals that Xander just asked her to marry him.

Sarah questions Rex being serious about them getting married. Rex points out that he already offered to parent the baby and if they’re married, he will automatically be on the child’s birth certificate. Sarah points out that a simple DNA test would prove it’s Xander’s. Rex questions what court would award Xander parental rights when he’s a convicted felon and they are upstanding doctors. Sarah complains that this isn’t about a custody battle. Rex thinks it will come to that and that Xander will find out eventually. Rex states that Maggie is going to be a part of the child’s life and Justin and Bonnie aren’t going away. Rex questions if Sarah can see herself never going back to Salem just to keep the child away from Xander. Sarah admits she can’t because Salem is her home and she wants her child to know where they come from. Sarah is just not sure that them getting married is the answer. Rex responds that he’s sure enough for the both of them.

Stephanie asks what Chad has to say for himself. Chad says he was just coming home to tell her himself. Stephanie says that’s easy to say now that he’s busted. Chad argues that they had a gentleman’s agreement. Stephanie argues that Alex isn’t the bad guy here and Chad is. Chad complains that they had a discussion and Alex agreed not to say anything but he must have been lying and waiting for the right moment to make him look bad. Stephanie remarks that Chad doesn’t need anyone’s help to look bad and that she had to drag it out of Alex because he kept making up excuses for why they couldn’t work together on a Basic Black project, until she finally forced him to tell her that Chad warned him to stay away from her. Stephanie argues that Alex was willing to blow up a business deal to protect Chad and questions where he gets off making decisions on who she spends time with. Chad asks her to let him explain. Stephanie reminds him that Alex’s jealousy over their friendship is what ruined their relationship and now Chad’s doing the same thing. Stephanie asks if Chad is going to go through her phone next. Chad apologizes for being out of line and says he never should’ve listened to EJ’s stupid advice which Stephanie questions. Chad admits he was frustrated and feeling insecure. Stephanie questions when she’s ever made him feel insecure and what the hell is going on with him.

Sarah tells Rex that it’s one thing to pretend he’s the father to help her out of a jam with Bonnie, but marriage is a lifelong commitment. Sarah asks what about his daughter Emily. Rex says Emily is always begging for a sibling so she’d be thrilled to be a big sister. Sarah then asks what about Rex and how he feels about turning his entire life upside down to help her out. Rex feels it wouldn’t turn his life upside down at all because nothing would make him happier than being married to her. Rex admits that he never stopped loving her and he never will.

Brady calls Xander delusional and argues that Chloe will never marry a man like him. Xander argues that Brady is delusional for thinking it can’t happen. Xander remarks that they are great together and much more compatible than Chloe and Brady ever were. Brady complains that he has no business saying that when he’s known Chloe for five minutes. Xander responds that he’s already made her happier than Brady ever did. Xander then brings up Gwen marrying Dimitri and Sarah going back to Rex as he asks what’s so preposterous about he and Chloe tying the knot. Brady guesses that this is all about Xander wanting to stick it to his ex.

Belle questions if Chloe turned down Xander’s proposal. Chloe says no but she told him that they both need to think about if marriage is the next best step for them. Belle insists that it’s not. Chloe asks how she’s so sure about that. Chloe points out that she and Xander have gotten really close, so she cares about him a lot. Belle says they have known each other since high school and warns that saying yes to Xander would be one of her bad decisions. Chloe asks why she’s being like this if Xander makes her happy. Belle insists that she wants her to be happy but that she’s talking about a commitment to a guy who is as screwed up and dishonorable as they come which Chloe rolls her eyes at. Belle questions if she’s really telling her that she could see herself as the future Mrs. Xander Cook.

Justin tells Alex that Maggie is throwing Victor a welcome home party as he returns from visiting Bo and she specifically said she wanted Alex to be there. Alex asks if Victor would want him there. Justin asks why he wouldn’t. Alex feels he’s probably not happy that he’s working for Brady since Basic Black is a subsidiary of DiMera. Justin admits that there’s nothing Victor hates quite as much as DiMera. Alex feels he’d see him as a traitor then. Justin talks about how Victor is hurting from getting Bo back only to possibly lose him again, so tonight is all about coming together as family. Justin adds that Brady has been invited, so he hopes the three of them can put the corporate warfare aside and come together. Justin points out that Victor isn’t getting any younger. Alex agrees to come which pleses Justin. Alex then remarks that it must be better than going back to his place since at least he won’t have any random run-ins with Chad. Justin asks what’s going on with him and Chad. Alex explains that he didn’t mean to, but he may have just torpedoed Chad”s relationship with Stephanie.

Chad admits to Stephanie that Alex has been getting under his skin for a long time. Stephanie questions what he’s been doing. Chad asks if she’s serious as he points out that Alex is always coming in to their lives, joining them on their dates, and showing up at the door shirtless. Stephanie argues that Chad should’ve talked to her about it. Chad didn’t want to put her in a difficult position. Stephanie accuses him of going behind her back to try to manipulate her life. Chad realizes his mistake now and apologizes as he knows he was being a possessive jerk and that she broke up with Alex because he did something just like that. Chad asks if Stephanie can forgive him or if they are done too. Stephanie responds that she’s not breaking up with him as they made a commitment, not just to each other but to his kids. Stephanie states that there’s a limit to what she will put up with, so she needs to know that he trusts her and if she ever gives him reason not to, he needs to come to her and talk to her about it so they can work through it together rather than going behind her back to try to control her. Stephanie asks if Chad thinks he can do that.

Bonnie tells Maggie that Victor’s homecoming dinner is ready. Maggie thanks her for checking on that. Bonnie notes that Maggie doesn’t seem to be in much of a party mood. Maggie says she’s eager to welcome Victor home but she’s thrown by Sarah’s pregnancy and her determination to keep it from Xander. Maggie argues that Xander has a right to know that he’s going to be a father. Bonnie agrees and notes that Justin does too. Maggie worries that it’s going to be one big powder keg because nothing good ever comes from these kinds of lies.

Sarah doesn’t know why it surprises her since Rex told her that he still cared about her a year ago. Rex remembers it being the night that Abigail died. Sarah thought he got over her. Rex says he never did and that ruining their marriage is one of the biggest regrets of his entire life. Rex knows she wasn’t exactly looking to get back together with this baby, but he calls it a chance for him to fix something that never should’ve been broken. Rex wants to show her that she has his heart and always will, if she will let him.

Xander asks if Brady has fallen off the wagon again since he’s not making sense. Brady assures that he’s sober and remarks that Xander only wants to marry Chloe because every other woman was smart enough to run away from him. Xander insists that his proposal has nothing to do with Gwen or Sarah as he loves Chloe, wants to spend the rest of his life with her and have kids together. Brady tells Xander that Chloe will never have kids with him. Xander calls it sour grapes coming from Brady and remarks that he’s only ever knocked up women that were unsuitable to be mothers. Xander adds that he’ll make sure he’s left off the guest list. Xander then brings up heading to the Kiriakis Mansion for Victor’s homecoming. Xander realizes Brady forgot about it. Brady says he’s been pre-occupied with turning his daughter over to a psychopath. Xander states that if Chloe accepts his proposal, maybe they can celebrate that along with Victor’s return. Xander then walks away.

Belle asks if she really needs to rattle off all of Xander’s crimes to get Chloe to come to her senses. Chloe responds that she’s fully aware of who Xander is and what he’s done. Belle brings up Xander shooting his mom. Chloe points out that was a really long time ago. Belle says they can stick to his most recent crimes and that he’s responsible for Susan Banks’ death. Chloe argues that was because Ava drove them off a cliff. Belle blames Xander working for Ava and kidnapping Susan and Bonnie. Chloe assures that he feels horrible about that. Belle argues that he should and that he should be in prison. Chloe responds that they’ve all done things they aren’t proud of but Xander has changed. Belle suggests she call Sarah and ask her about Xander promising to be a better man. Chloe decides this conversation is over. Belle stops her and says this is what best friends are for; telling each other the hard truths. Chloe argues that sometimes best friends just stand by each other. Belle questions standing by when she’s making a huge mistake. Chloe then brings up that she stood by when Belle went off screwing EJ.

Justin asks if Alex is sure he didn’t violate the terms of his gentlemen’s agreement on purpose. Alex sees why he would think that but assures that he was trying to keep it to himself. Justin accepts that it wasn’t intentional, but asks if part of him wants another chance with Stephanie. Alex admits he’s not completely over her but says he really was trying to move on. Justin brings up Alex now living across the hall from her which can’t be easy. Alex admits he hasn’t been the best about keeping his distance but complains that the dating scene in Salem is brutal, like everyone knows one another or they are afraid of being in Leo’s gossip column. Alex tells Justin to be happy that he’s not single. Justin assures that he thanks God every day for Bonnie. Alex calls him a lucky man since it’s a warfield out there. Justin hopes he’s not letting his ill-fated date with Melinda Trask discourage him from dating. Alex states that he just needs to work on himself and attract the right kind of woman in to his life. Justin encourages that it’s all he can do and suggests they head home to get ready to welcome Victor back. Alex agrees that he could use something to celebrate.

Chad swears to Stephanie that he will never go behind her back ever again or try to handle or control her in any way. Chad decides whoever she wants to work with or be friends with is completely up to her and admits he doesn’t know what the hell he was thinking. Stephanie blames it on that he was listening to EJ. Chad brings up that EJ’s advice was what would Stefano do and admits that Stefano was not someone to emulate, especially when it comes to relationships. Chad adds that even Kristen knew it would blow up in his face. Stephanie says she loves what they have built together and that Chad is everything she could ask for in a partner and she feels she’s been the same for him which Chad confirms. Stephanie questions why Chad was so petty and why he deceived her. Chad sits down and admits that he was scared of losing her and her deciding this was all too much. Stephanie asks if she ever gave him any reason to be scared. Chad admits she didn’t but says she’s not just some random girlfriend, she’s the first woman he’s let himself have feelings for since Abigail, so he’s absolutely terrified of it all going away again.

Belle asks if Chloe is just trying to hurt her now. Chloe feels it’s just very hypocritical of her to be so hard on Xander. Chloe complains that Belle is throwing Xander’s sins in her face while she left her marriage to go shack up with EJ of all people. Belle argues that she and Shawn were separated at the time and that Chloe was very supportive of her and EJ seeing each other. Chloe responds that unlike her, she doesn’t judge her friends. Belle says she’s just trying to help her. Chloe argues that she doesn’t want it. Chloe then mentions that Belle brought up Xander shooting Marlena, so she brings up how EJ shot John and all the awful things he did to Sami. Belle says she’s not defending EJ. Chloe says she’s not here to defend Xander. Belle complains that she’s considering marrying him, so she’s just trying to keep her from throwing her life away on a guy who doesn’t deserve her. Chloe thanks her for her concern but says she’s a grown ass woman who can make her own decisions, so she asks Belle to be a friend and respect her as an adult. Belle agrees and says that if Xander steps out of line once, she will be there to help her kick his ass. Belle and Chloe then hug. Chloe admits she appreciates her caring about her and they say they love each other. Chloe sends her congratulations to Shawn becoming police commissioner and tells her to let Brady know that she’s so sorry about Rachel. Belle then walks away.

Maggie calls Brady and tells him that she’s so sorry about Rachel as she can’t believe anybody would give custody to Kristen. Brady says that’s why he’s not up to a big family gathering. Maggie asks if he’s sure and encourages being around family but Brady says he doesn’t need Victor throwing it in his face or Xander bragging about his possible engagement which Maggie questions. Brady asks if she hasn’t heard and informs her that Xander proposed to Chloe. Xander then arrives at the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie tells Brady that they are there if he changes his mind. Brady wishes her luck and hangs up. Xander questions the golden grandson not attending and calls it a shame.

Sarah tells Rex that she cares about him, but marriage is a huge step. Rex points out that they’ve taken it before. Sarah jokes that it didn’t end well. Rex says they are older and wiser now. Rex thinks they both know what it takes to make a marriage work. Sarah realizes he’s serious about that. Rex assure he’s more serious than he’s ever been in his life. Sarah doesn’t know what to say. Rex then gets down on one knee and asks her to say she will marry him and make him the happiest husband and father to be on the planet.

Bonnie joins Xander and Maggie in the living room. Bonnie notes Xander’s mood. Xander says love is in the air and Victor is on his way home. Bonnie jokes about not seeing any clowns lately. Maggie tells Xander that she needs to talk to him. Justin then arrives with Alex. Justin decides to call the airfield because he thinks Victor’s plane should’ve landed by now. Alex greets Maggie, who says she’s glad he’s here and thinks Victor will be happy to see him. They talk about Victor being down with everything going on with Bo. Maggie thinks having the family here will help. Maggie suggests she and Alex put aside their differences for Victor. Alex agrees and they hug as Maggie thanks him.

Stephanie tells Chad that their relationship does come with a lot of responsibility. Stephanie acknowledges that they have so much fun together but she understands the stakes and she would never take lightly how important it is for him and his kids. Stephanie adds that she loved Abigail too and she wouldn’t have allowed herself to fall for him if she wasn’t in it for the long haul. Stephanie assures that he’s in no danger of losing her to Alex or any other random who shows up at their door without a shirt on. Stephanie calls Chad the only man that she wants to be with and they kiss. Chad offers to make it up to her with dinner. Stephanie says maybe later as they then head to the bedroom.

Chloe goes home and then Brady shows up at the door. Chloe says she heard what happened with Rachel and she’s so sorry. Chloe asks if there’s anything she can do. Brady says yeah and then kisses Chloe.

Maggie tells Xander that Brady told her that he proposed to Chloe which he confirms. Xander points out that Sarah moved on, so he figured it was time that he did the same. Maggie responds that there is something she has to tell him. Justin then comes back in to the room and announces that Victor’s plane is missing.
