Chad told Kristen the judge was sending her back to Statesville. He told her not to escape again. She said she wouldn’t leave. She said she would hire more lawyers so she could appeal. She asked him to get her something to eat. When he left, she took his phone. Kristen called Gwen. Kristen threatened to tell Xander about Sarah if she didn’t break her out of jail. Gwen said she would help her, but she didn’t know how. Kristen said she would get her some help. Kristen called Ava to ask for help. Ava said she wasn’t going to risk what she had with Rafe. Kristen threatened to tell Rafe about the last time she helped her escape. Kristen told her what she needed to do. Gwen lied to Xander about her call. She said she was talking to Chad. She said he was insulting her for what she did to his family. Xander said Chad should move on because he still had love in his life unlike some people. She wondered if he was talking about himself. He said he wasn’t. He said he moved on from Sarah. Ava went to see Gwen. Ava told her she was going to be working with her. EJ was by Susan’s side at the hospital. He apologized for everything. Nicole checked on him. He told her Susan was scared of the devil coming back. She asked if Susan had a breakdown. They went out in the hall to talk.

EJ told Nicole what happened with Susan. He thought it was a delusion at first, but Steve believed Susan’s story. He said after all the years he was ashamed of her, she was willing to sacrifice her life for his. EJ broke down and cried. Nicole comforted him. He was embarrassed that she saw him like that. She said it made him vulnerable and attractive. He said that didn’t get him anywhere with Sami. Nicole thought it was weird he hasn’t heard from Sami. He said he pushed her away. He said he was cruel. He said he was emotionally abusive for a year. EJ told Nicole that Sami fought for him after he gave up on life. He said he was a monster to her. He said he was grateful for what Sami has done, but he wasn’t able to tell her because he pushed her away. He said she stayed away. Nicole said it sounded as if he regretted his decision. He said he didn’t regret anything after she cheated. He said he was moving on. Sami banged on a door and demanded to be let out. A guard named Jason told her he wanted his phone back. He said he would do something worse if she didn’t. She gave it to him. She asked him to let her be with her family. She gave it back to him. He checked her phone to see who she called. She said she called her mother and husband. Jason told Sami that he reads the tabloids. He said he knew EJ dumped her. She said he would still pay the ransom. He said his boss wasn’t interested in money. She wanted to know who it was. He said she would never find out. When he left and came back to bring her food, she hit him on the back of the head. She ran out of the room.

She broke the key off in the door. Abe and Eli talked about what happened at the wedding. Lani went to see Kristen at the station. She told her what happened with Paulina. Kristen was sorry about what she told her. Kristen wanted to know how she knew Abe was her father. She told her what Tamara told her. Lani felt connected to Abe when she first met him. Sami found the captor’s phone. She tried to call someone for help. She wondered which number she new by heart. Allie and Lucas talked about what was going on with Marlena. Xander wanted answers when Rafe’s phone went off. Rafe was ready to take her to prison, but Kristen stalled him. Sami told Lucas what happened to her. She wanted his help. She said she call her mother, but she had her own problems. Ava was able to convince the guards to let Kristen go. Lucas was finally able to get the location and was going to get her.

He said it hurt to know that he could have had a future with her if it weren’t for Philip. Chloe talked to Philip about him seeing her go to the Salem Inn with Brady. She told him that Lucas was how she found out about it. She wanted to know why he didn’t talk to her about it. John was determined to get in Ben and Ciara’s place. He wanted to find Marlena. Ben wanted him to leave. John said he was going to stop her once and for all. He was going to kill the devil. Shawn called Belle and told her that John was gone. She wanted to know what he meant by that. He said he couldn’t find him. He walked back in the room and saw John on the floor. The other John was trying to get in the room with Ben and Ciara. Steve broke in the DiMera crypt and found Susan covered in blood. She was also holding a knife. She said she didn’t have a choice. She fell to the ground. John said she stabbed herself to protect her son. John said to take her to the mansion so she could get help. Steve came in with Susan and EJ asked what he did to her. Steve told him to call an ambulance. Tony went in the crypt and saw John. Anna came in with an ax. She used the ax on the shackles. They brought him to the house. John told everyone that Marlena was possessed again. Doug called Marlena the devil. Marlena called him delusional. Julie said she believed him. She wondered if they should call her Satan. Shawn said it made sense. Marlena asked Belle if she believed it. Belle wanted to hear what Doug had to say. Everyone told Marlena how she’s been acting. Marlena said she was Marlena. Shawn arrested her. Marlena said they were going to be sorry. Julie said the handcuffs wouldn’t hold the devil. Shawn said he didn’t have many options. Kayla got a message from Steve. Steve didn’t believe it. Steve got a message from Kayla and left. Susan told EJ what happened with the devil. She said she couldn’t kill John not even to protect EJ. She said she thought the devil would accept her body as a human sacrifice. EJ couldn’t believe she was willing to die for him. She said she would do anything for him. She said a mother always protected her son. They said they loved each other. Steve met with Kayla and Belle. They told each other what was going on. Belle asked Anna about her father. When Belle was sure John was okay, she said Shawn had Marlena at the Horton house. She said he was taking her to the station. Anna and Tony went to the hospital and told Belle John gave them the slip. They said he was determined to get Marlena. John went to the Horton house. Shawn, Doug and Julie told him that Marlena went to fulfill her purpose.

When she got off the phone, she said they got a compassionate judge who didn’t want to wait. Julie had her power of attorney and could see Doug. Steve told Kayla that he was sent under a wild goose chase looking for John. Marlena went to see Steve and Kayla. She said she was busy with work. She told them about Abe’s wedding. Sami said it wasn’t her. Devil Kristen refused to give up on John. He told her that he made her tired. Devil Kristen said that she was stimulated by his rejection. She changed into a different outfit. Nicole asked EJ for his help with her divorce papers. He was willing to take her out in exchange for his help. Sami told Marlena that she was able to steal the phone from someone. Marlena told her that she wasn’t the only one in trouble. Devil Kristen threw herself at John, but he told her that he couldn’t do anything while he was still tied up. She wondered if he really meant that or if he was trying to escape. Susan got to the DiMera mansion, but the devil turned her back to a cat before anyone saw her. John asked the devil if she has been successful at destroying lives. The devil said she ruined Abe’s wedding. She said John’s soul would be hers. She changed into Kristen. She brought up the first tine they made love. She said it was passionate. She said their perfect time came to an end. She said he still wanted her despite everything. She wanted him to admit he still loved her. Marlena woke up with chains around her wrists. The devil was out of her. She tried to reach her phone, but she had trouble. When she did reach her phone, she didn’t have a signal. The phone rang. Abe told Roman that Paulina was Lani’s mother, but he wasn’t her father. Roman tried to see it from Paulina’s point of view. Abe asked if he was defending her. She wasn’t able to pick the lock. He said she might have better luck trying to open the door. She went to the door and tried to unlock it. At the wedding, Chanel said she had something to say. Paulina thought she was upset about not being maid of honor. Paulina said she told her why she asked Lani. Chanel said she asked Lani because she’s her daughter. Paulina told Chanel to sit down. The guests were shocked. Chanel told Lani they weren’t cousins they were sisters. Abe wanted to know who told her that. She didn’t want to tell him. She demanded Paulina confirm it. Eli went to get Julie to take her to the wedding. She was mad about Doug. She didn’t understand how Marlena had the right to keep her from her husband. Eli said he would take her to see Doug. He said they wouldn’t leave until they saw Doug. Julie gave Eli a bracelet for Paulina to borrow. She said it had a charm key on it because Doug thought the first lady of Salem should have the key to the city. When Eli left, Julie was upset about not being able to see Doug. She didn’t want to wait until tomorrow to see him. Belle and Shawn went to check on Marlena because Belle was worried about Marlena. Shawn found a wooden cross. They didn’t think it looked like something John and Marlena would own. Belle remembered Susan being there so it could be hers. Belle got a call about a case so they left. Belle went to the Horton House. She met Julie there. Julie said she wanted to hire her to sue Marlena. Marlena went to see Ben and Ciara. She said she knew her secret was exposed. She said Xander called her and let her know about Gwen. A guard brought Kristen to the interrogation room. She overheard Gwen talking to Melinda. Kristen heard Gwen say Xander was all she had left. Gwen said he has been there for her when no one else has. She asked Melinda to let Xander get his money back. Melinda said she couldn’t help her. Melinda saw Kristen. Melinda told her Brady didn’t want to see her. Melinda walked off. Kristen was brought in the interrogation room. She told Gwen she was going to break her out of there. Xander went to see Jack in order to defend Gwen. Jack said there would always be a place in his heart for Gwen, but he would never forgive her for what she did to Abby. He said he wouldn’t forgive Xander either. Xander said he was protecting him. Xander said he didn’t want to hurt him. Jack told him to look how that came out. Xander told Jack he has been a bad friend. He said he was looking out for Gwen. He said he loved her. Jack said God help them both. Xander reminded him that he has been given many second chances himself. He said if he couldn’t do it for Gwen, she was better off without him. Abby talked to Chad about her conversation with Jack. She said she never wanted to take Gwen from Jack. Chad said all she did was tell the truth. He said it was on Gwen. He said he was glad they could heal. He said they had trust issues to work on, but he was hopeful. Abby did too. Marlena brought Susan (as a cat) to see John. John asked Marlena why she brought a cat in there. She said she thought he would want to see an old friend. Marlena changed the cat. Susan was wrapped around John’s leg. John yelled at Susan until she stopped being a cat.

Susan tried to reach out to Marlena by bringing up John’s love. The devil came out. Susan got on her knees and started praying. John tried to reach out to Marlena. He told her it was their anniversary. He said he would never give up on her. He told her to fight for them. Marlena and Susan passed out. Marlena was back in control. She saw John tied up. She said she would get him out of there. She said it would be okay. Susan stood up. Her eyes were yellow. She told Marlena that it wouldn’t be okay. The devil said Susan’s connection to the spirit world gave them access to her body. Marlena told Susan not to hurt John. Susan threw her across the room and told her she couldn’t stop her. Susan told John they wouldn’t hurt Marlena because they had things to accomplish. John told the devil he was going to stop him. The devil said it was time to get John out of the equation. John said they could kill him, but they would never kill his and Marlena’s love. Susan said there was a better way to break Marlena’s spirit than by killing her. She said he was going to have him betray Marlena in the worst way. He said he would never betray Marlena for another woman. He said he certainly wouldn’t do it for Susan. Susan asked what about his old flame Kristen. It turned out to be Eileen Davidson as Kristen.
