Days of Our Lives Update

Allie and Alex continue drinking shots at the Bistro. Alex holds the lemon from his drink in his mouth while Allie leans over the table to take it from him right as Chanel and Johnny walk in and see them. Chanel asks what the hell.

Tripp goes back to Wendy and asks where they were. Wendy asks what he was talking to Joey about at the door. Tripp asks Wendy if Joey asked her to come hang out with him. Wendy tries to deny it but then admits it and asks him not to be mad at Joey because he just sees how much he’s hurting over Ava and didn’t want him to be alone. Tripp explains that is not why Joey called her as he wants them to spend time together because he wants them to be a couple.

Gwen and Leo are in their room at the Salem Inn. Leo asks what dessert she wants from room service. Gwen says it’s whatever he wants. Leo talks about what to watch on TV but Gwen is disinterested. Leo complains that Gwen is doing nothing when they are supposed to be having a fun night but she’s just waiting for Xander to call. Gwen then questions why Xander hasn’t called her yet.

Xander runs in to Jack in the park. Xander mentions that Gwen told him about Jack’s ultimatum. Xander asks if he should assume they are not mates anymore. Jack questions if they ever really were. Xander says he’d like to think so. Jack argues that friendship goes both ways and not just one person cleaning up the other’s messes. Xander admits he screwed up but Jack argues that he just showed his true colors. Xander tries to explain that he was desperate to save his marriage but Jack doesn’t want to hear his excuses. Jack argues that Xander used his daughter to cover up his crimes. Xander says he never intended to drag Gwen in to this. Jack accuses Xander of knowing that Gwen was still in love with him and taking advantage of that to drag her down when she was trying to better herself. Xander responds that he’s truly sorry. Jack declares that what Xander did was unforgivable. Xander argues that he did worse than this before. Jack says he should know better now and realize the difference between right and wrong. Jack states that he watched Xander grow a conscience but he resorted to the same selfish loser he’s always been. Xander tells Jack to turn his back on him if he wants but asks him to give Gwen another chance.

Leo commands Gwen to get out of bed and takes her phone. Gwen worries about if Xander texts her but Leo doesn’t care. Leo argues that now that Gwen slept with Xander, she has all these expectations and it’s a good way to get hurt. Gwen argues that he doesn’t know what Xander is thinking. Leo says he’s not thinking. Leo tells Gwen to let it go for tonight, be in the moment, and have fun with him. Gwen agrees and questions why she’s mooning over Xander when it’s obvious his sun sets and rises with Sarah.

Sarah finds Rex at the Kiriakis Mansion and rushes up to hug him. Sarah tells him that she’s sorry about Kate. Rex thanks her and says he did all he could to save her, Marlena, and Kayla. Sarah wishes they could’ve done more. Sarah asks why he is here. Rex reveals that he came to deliver a letter to Victor from his brother, Philip, which shocks Sarah.

Allie and Alex laugh together while Chanel questions them thinking this is funny. They point out the lemon and Allie says it’s not like they were kissing. Alex tries to add in but Chanel says she is talking to her girlfriend. Chanel then brings up Alex’s underwear. Alex swears that was innocent while Chanel argues that there’s nothing innocent about what she just walked in on. Allie argues that Chanel is making way too big of a deal out of this. Chanel asks why every time she turns around, she finds Allie and Alex together which Allie then asks the same about finding Chanel with Johnny.

Wendy asks Tripp if this is Joey playing matchmaker which Tripp confirms. Wendy asks why he’s trying to push them together. Tripp explains that Joey is seeing someone now so he feels like one of them should win. Tripp admits to Wendy that he likes her for real, but he knows she’s dating Johnny and he’s not looking to take someone else’s girl.

Johnny suggests he and Alex give Allie and Chanel some time alone. Allie says she’s fine since Chanel is the one who lied to her by saying she was going to be with her mom, yet here she is with Johnny. Johnny clarifies that they came to get a drink but it seems like Allie and Alex are way ahead of them. Johnny asks how many they’ve had. Alex tries to count the glasses as Chanel remarks that she’s glad this is amusing to them. Allie questions if they’re the drinking police and then asks why Johnny isn’t here with Wendy instead of with her girlfriend.

Rex reveals to Sarah that Philip is in a mental hospital after faking his own death and trying to frame Brady for his murder. Sarah asks if Brady and Chloe know he’s alive. Rex says he hasn’t had the chance to tell them yet but assures that he will. Rex asks her not to say anything even though he knows it’s not cool to ask her to keep secrets from her husband. Sarah then reveals that he doesn’t have to worry because Xander is not her husband anymore.

Leo tells Gwen no more loser talk in here. Leo encourages that Gwen won since Xander is no longer married to Sarah and he slept with Gwen last night. Gwen questions why Xander hasn’t called her yet then. Leo suggests maybe he’s busy. Gwen wonders what he’s doing since he doesn’t have a job anymore. Leo suggests he could be working out. Gwen argues that she fought for Xander and asks if it’s wrong to want him to fight for her too.

Xander tells Jack that Gwen is his daughter so he can’t just cut her out of his life. Jack responds that he can’t debate this with him. Xander argues that’s because Jack has no ground to stand on. Xander tells Jack not to punish Gwen for something he did. Xander adds that Jack means the world to Gwen. Jack declares that he and Gwen are both moving on. Xander questions that being just because she disappointed him. Jack responds that he can’t have this in his life anymore as Gwen is a threat to him and his family. Xander questions Jack being the kind of man to disown his daughter for not living up to his standards. Jack argues that Xander couldn’t understand but Xander compares it to how Victor treated him. Jack says he just asked Gwen for a little responsibility. Xander calls that a bunch of crap and remarks that the truth is that Gwen was never going to be Abigail. Jack tells him not to bring Abigail in to this. Xander talks about Gwen always living in Abigail’s shadow and trying to change herself to make Jack happy. Xander says that Gwen needed Jack’s love but instead got his judgment. Xander argues that Jack tried to make Gwen turn on him and when she didn’t, he turned on her. Jack declares that Gwen made her choice and he made his. Xander says to Hell with that. Xander argues that Gwen got tired of trying to prove herself to Jack. Xander questions what kind of man Jack is. Xander decides that he’s fine with them not being mates anymore as he doesn’t want to be friends with someone like him. Xander then walks away.

Wendy tells Tripp that she and Johnny have started dating or at least are trying to which Tripp questions. Wendy explains that they were supposed to go to the movies tonight when Joey called. Tripp questions Wendy giving up their date for him. Wendy says there will be other dates but Tripp doesn’t want to be someone’s pity date. Tripp tells Wendy to call Johnny right now and maybe they can still catch the movie.

Johnny comments on arguing with Allie while she’s drunk. Allie asks if he’s afraid of the truth. Johnny argues that she’s making a big deal out of him being here with Chanel when it’s nothing. Johnny explains that he was supposed to go out with Wendy but she had to go help a friend. Alex says that’s the same as he and Allie, two friends being there for each other. Allie questions if Johnny just calls up Chanel as his fill in date. Johnny says it’s not a date but Allie argues that they will be reminiscing about their marriage. Chanel argues that this is not about her and Johnny but Allie says it always is. Chanel accuses her of just using it as an excuse to be with Alex. Allie responds that she doesn’t need an excuse and that she and Alex have fun together as she asks if there’s a problem with that. Chanel asks Allie to come home with her and sober up so they can talk later and get things straight. Allie jokes that “straight” is an interesting choice of words. Allie suggests maybe she doesn’t want to sober up because she’s having too much fun. Allie tells Chanel that she doesn’t get to judge her since she walked out and adds that she’s killing her buzz right now. Allie says unless they want to join them for a shot but Chanel says they’ll pass. Chanel tells Johnny they can get a drink somewhere else, so they exit together.

Sarah tells Rex that he warned her about Xander like everyone did. Rex says he’s just sorry that Xander hurt her like that. Rex admits he never thought Xander was worthy of a woman of her caliber. Rex jokes that he’s not one to judge though and acknowledges that he was a terrible partner to her. Sarah points out that he never kidnapped anyone. Rex says he just cheated. Sarah notes that she did forgive him. Rex says that meant the world to him even if he didn’t deserve it. Sarah remarks that holding grudges can just ruin your life. Rex asks if that means there’s a chance she might forgive Xander as well.

Gwen complains to Leo that she’s having a crisis here. Leo reminds Gwen that she said Xander stood up for her to Sarah. Gwen calls it all fleeting that he chose her in the moment. Gwen worries that Xander is willing to take her to bed, but he’ll never be willing to fully take her in his heart because his heart still belongs with Sarah. Leo encourages that she doesn’t know unless she tries. Gwen argues that she has tried for years and look where it’s landed her. Leo brings up that it’s better to have loved and lost. Gwen appreciates his effort. Leo hugs her and says it’s going to be okay. Xander then shows up at the door.

Sarah asks Rex if he’s asking if she can forgive Xander or if she can forgive him enough to be with him again. Rex guesses it’s both. Sarah mentions that they signed divorce papers. Rex asks if it’s officially over then. Sarah confirms the papers are filed with the court so as far as she’s concerned, she is no longer married. Rex is surprised that Xander gave up so easily. Sarah responds that Xander didn’t just give up easily, but he went straight back to sleeping with Gwen.

Xander tells Gwen about his run-in with Jack and how he let him know how he felt about what he did to her. Gwen says he didn’t have to do that. Xander complains about Jack being judgmental considering how he treated her. Gwen understands she let Jack down again and again. Xander argues that she’s done her best and he disowns her because she stood up for someone she cares about and now she’s lost everything. Gwen says maybe not everything. Xander wishes there was something he could do about it. Leo intervenes and says there is something he can do. Leo says neither of them have to take this lying down. Leo then declares that he knows exactly how to put Jack in his place.

Johnny and Chanel walk through the park. Johnny says he’s sorry that she’s going through this. Chanel feels the same and wishes things could be okay for her and Allie. Johnny understands how Allie can be and compares her to their mom, Sami. Chanel says she’s heard stories about Sami. Johnny says he loves Allie but sometimes she can just be hard to have a relationship with. Johnny states that Allie and Sami never want to admit when they are wrong. Johnny then declares that Allie pushing Chanel away is the biggest mistake she’s ever made.

Alex questions why Allie isn’t chasing after Chanel. Allie assures that she’s good and she has nothing left to say as she drinks another shot.

Wendy tells Tripp that Johnny loves movies so he probably went ahead by himself. Tripp encourages her to text him. Wendy argues that he probably already has his phone on silent for the movie. Tripp tells her to stop making excuses and just text him. Johnny then enters the Pub with his arm around Chanel. Johnny suggests they don’t talk about Allie anymore. Chanel agrees and suggests they get that drink. They then walk forward and see Wendy and Tripp. Johnny greets them and asks how it’s going. Wendy remarks that she didn’t know this is where he was going to the movies. Johnny explains that he changed his plans after she bowed out. Wendy asks if they can talk so she and Johnny step aside. Johnny asks if everything is okay. Wendy tells him to tell her but he doesn’t understand. Wendy reminds him that they were supposed to be on a date. Johnny points out that she couldn’t go. Wendy questions if the minute she gets pulled away to help a friend, he calls Chanel as a backup. Johnny admits that she’s not the first person to accuse him of that tonight. Wendy guesses it was Allie. Johnny confirms that they ran in to Allie and Alex at another bar and they were both pretty drunk and cozy. Johnny argues that he’s just trying to be a good friend to Chanel like Wendy is to Tripp. Wendy questions if it’s really the same. Johnny asks what that means. Wendy argues that she and Tripp weren’t married. Johnny acknowledges that is fair and that it probably looks sketchy. Johnny explains that he saw Chanel and invited her to the movie, but she doesn’t like thrillers, so they decided to grab a drink. Johnny reminds Wendy that he wanted to go with her, but clearly Tripp needed her more. Tripp calls out that he’s actually okay and if they wanna go catch the movie, he and Chanel can hang out. Johnny tells Wendy that everything is working out but Wendy disagrees about them seeing each other. Johnny questions what she means. Wendy argues that there is still something going on between him and his ex. Johnny insists that they are just friends. Wendy complains that it looks complicated, messy, and full of drama that she doesn’t need. Johnny reminds her that they both agreed that they had an opportunity to build something really special. Wendy responds that she can’t say she’s feeling that right now. Wendy tells Johnny that she likes him but she doesn’t think they have a chance to build anything as long as whatever is going on with he and Chanel. Johnny questions if Wendy just wants to break it off then. Wendy doesn’t want to hurt him but she doesn’t want to get hurt, so she’ll see him around.

Alex asks Allie what the hell she’s doing here with him instead of chasing after Chanel. Allie asks why he isn’t chasing after Stephanie. Alex says Stephanie doesn’t want to be with him and he screwed up royally, but Allie and Chanel have so much love for each other. Alex suggests Allie swallow her pride on this one but Allie refuses and calls for more tequila shots.

Leo suggests Xander and Gwen throw Jack’s own sins back in his face which Xander questions. Leo reminds Gwen about Jennifer running her down in the street and leaving her to die. Xander asks if they know that for sure which Gwen confirms. Xander questions Gwen having confirmation that Jennifer was driving the car. Leo points out that Gwen took the high road and let it go for Jack’s sake, but it’s not too late to reverse course and make Jack pay.

Sarah apologizes to Rex for dumping all this on him and talking about Xander when Rex has lost his mother. Sarah gives him her word that she won’t say anything about Philip. Rex thanks her. Rex says they have been through a lot, but he’d like to think they are still friends which Sarah agrees with. Rex knows it must really hurt to see Xander with Gwen, given all that Gwen did to hurt Sarah. Sarah admits she hasn’t had time to process it as she ran in to them and they made it very clear that they were sleeping together and then she had to go back to work. Rex talks about how Sarah has always been like that and there for her patients. Sarah says it helps to have a distraction. Rex warns that keeping that pain and anger inside is not healthy, so she’s got to let it out and he thinks has a pretty damn good idea on how to help her do that.

After Chanel and Johnny leave the Pub, Tripp brings beers for he and Wendy. Tripp apologizes if he messed things up for her and Johnny, but says it’s Joey’s fault for trying to play matchmaker. Wendy tells Tripp that it has nothing to do with he or Joey. Wendy says it was just wrong place, wrong time. Tripp comments that Johnny seems confused and says he’s sorry. Wendy says it is what it is. Tripp brings up Wendy showing up here because she thought he was hurting, so now he gets to be there for her.

Johnny and Chanel go back to Paulina’s apartment. Chanel asks if she screwed up what he had with Wendy. Johnny calls it one big misunderstanding and says he’ll just fix it tomorrow somehow as he pours them glasses of wine. Johnny points out that this is the same bottle of wine that they drank on the beach in Italy. Johnny then jokes that they are doing exactly what Allie accused them of doing by reminiscing about their romantic times in Italy. Chanel says she doesn’t care and reminds him of when they went to see the sunrise and fell asleep. Johnny recalls trying to make her smile which Chanel says he always does.

Allie goes back home to her apartment with Alex. Allie mentions that her son Henry is staying with the babysitter. Alex asks if she’s okay. Allie asks if she looks in pain. Alex says she doesn’t but tomorrow morning will be a different story. Allie says they only live once. Allie sits Alex down on the couch and thanks him for being so nice tonight. Alex asks if it’s cool if he crashes in the office again and promises to keep his underwear on this time. Allie says he can crash in the office or he can crash in her bed where the underwear is optional.

Rex holds a pillow for Sarah to punch. Sarah lets out her frustrations about being pissed off that Xander slept with Gwen and that he promised to never break the law again while she was stupid enough to believe him. Sarah continues punching and screaming that she hates Gwen and Xander. Rex stops and admits this was more intense than he expected. Rex asks if she’s okay and if it worked. Sarah says no, but maybe this will as she then grabs Rex and kisses him.

Jack goes home and looks at a photo of he and Gwen. Gwen walks in, guessing he wants her key back which he confirms. Jack asks if that’s all. Gwen says there’s another reason she came and it’s about the Spectator. Jack questions if she’s here to ask for her job back. Xander then walks in and declares they are not here for her job, but to take the whole paper.

Rex asks Sarah what that was. Sarah states that Xander has moved on, so why shouldn’t she. Sarah asks if Rex still wants her. Rex says he does but she’s upset. Sarah says he helped her get out some anger and she needs to get out the rest but that’s not going to happen from hitting a pillow. Sarah reminds Rex that he said he never got over her, so now is his chance. Sarah then kisses Rex and removes his shirt. Sarah asks if he wants to stand around and talk or if he wants to take her up to her room. Sarah then takes Rex by the hand and they head upstairs.

Jack says it’s been a very long day and he’s made it clear he has nothing more to say to Gwen or Xander. Xander responds that he doesn’t have to say anything. Xander tells Jack that he’s going to sign ownership of the Spectator over to him and Gwen. Jack questions why the hell he would do that. Gwen then reveals that if he doesn’t, she’s going to send Jennifer to prison for running her over.

Leo remains in his room at the Salem Inn, recording himself talking up his future job at the Spectator as a gossip columnist where he will keep up to date on who is sleeping with who.

Johnny and Chanel almost kiss but Johnny thinks he should probably go. Chanel points out that she’s the one leaning in this time, so it’s okay. Johnny says they shouldn’t. Chanel says she knows. Johnny declares that as mad as he is at Allie, he doesn’t want to do this to her and he doesn’t think Chanel does either. Chanel admits he’s right and that she has to be loyal to Allie even if she doesn’t deserve it.

Allie tells Alex that it wouldn’t be the first time he stayed in her bed and this time there would be more room. Alex doesn’t think that’s a very good idea. Allie insists, reminding him that Stephanie is sleeping with Chad and that Chanel is probably sleeping with Johnny right now. Allie reminds Alex that he called her one of the hottest women he’s ever been with and asks if he was lying. Alex says not even a little bit so Allie tells him to prove it and they start kissing on the couch and begin to undress.

Joey enters the Brady Pub and joins Tripp as he finishes a call with the Seattle hospital. Joey mentions being on his way to see Steve, but he saw Tripp in the window so he decided to have a beer with his brother. Joey asks if Tripp has been working all day. Tripp tells him that he went to see his mom and other than that, he’s been hanging out with Wendy Shin which surprises Joey.

Wendy starts to send a text to Tripp when Johnny shows up at her door. Wendy calls this a surprise and asks what’s going on. Johnny knows it’s last minute but invites her to a movie with him.

Stephanie goes to see Chad and asks if everything is okay. Chad tells her that he just wanted to tell her in person that he ran in to Alex and that Alex knows he spent the night with her.

Allie goes to the Titan office and returns his underwear to him. Alex thanks her but Allie reveals that Chanel found them and threw a fit.

Paulina comes home to find Abe setting up a candle lit dinner for them. Paulina jokes that he must want to get lucky tonight and asks what he’s been up to. Abe explains that since Paulina said Chanel was going home to make up with Allie, they had the place to themselves and he decided she should be wined and dined like the queen she is. They kiss until Chanel comes out from her room, interrupting them as she comments on smelling the food. Paulina tells Chanel that she didn’t realize she was there. Chanel says she was napping and admits she’s hungry but it looks like they were planning a dinner for two. Abe tells Chanel that they are happy to have her but he thought she had gotten back with Allie. Chanel responds that she hoped that would be the case and that she went there to put her hurt aside and apologize, but then she realized that Allie had a lot more to be sorry for than she did.

Allie explains to Alex that when Chanel saw his underwear, she assumed the worst. Allie complains that it’s so stupid and that Chanel wouldn’t listen when she tried to tell her that nothing happened. Alex declares that he will fix it by calling Chanel now to explain to her that he sleeps in the nude. Allie responds that she already tried that but it didn’t work.

Stephanie thanks Chad for the heads up and says she was actually going to text him because she saw Alex too at Titan and he told her that he knew about them. Stephanie assures he wasn’t a jerk to her. Stephanie mentions the flowers at her place being from Alex along with an apology letter. Stephanie admits she wasn’t going to read it and threw it in the trash but then she got curious and it was really genuine as he knew how badly he messed up, owned up to all his mistakes, and said he never meant to hurt her. Stephanie adds that she told Alex that she appreciated him saying all of that. Chad is glad she was able to get some closure. Stephanie confirms that she told Alex that they would not be getting back together, because Chad is the one she wants to be with. Chad smiles and they kiss.

Joey questions Tripp about Wendy and says he doesn’t waste any time. Tripp assures it’s not like that as he came back for Kayla’s funeral and things have been rough with his mom while Wendy has been a good friend and listener. Tripp adds that Wendy is sort of seeing Johnny DiMera anyway.

Johnny asks Wendy if something is wrong. Wendy thought they said they were going to wait because of everything going on with their families. Wendy reminds him that they agreed it was what’s best. Johnny says he couldn’t resist when he saw the movie marquee as this classic thriller is only playing one night. Johnny acknowledges that he should’ve called first. Wendy gets that he was being impulsive but they just talked yesterday about waiting so this feels sudden. Johnny questions if this is about how sudden it is or about what happened with Chanel.

Joey asks Tripp if Johnny is playing both sides of the fence in wanting to go after Wendy and Chanel. Tripp clarifies that Wendy told him that Johnny almost kissed Chanel. Tripp understands that Johnny was in an emotional place as his grandma was dying. Joey jokes about macking on your ex being a remedy. Joey feels that forfeits Johnny’s right to go after Wendy. Joey comments that Wendy has options. Joey says Johnny’s cool but he’s not a hot shot doctor like Tripp. Tripp assures him that Wendy and Johnny are planning on stepping it up soon. Joey argues that soon is not now so Wendy is available and Johnny’s already given her reason to doubt him. Joey tells Tripp to stop making excuses and if he wants Wendy, he should go for it.

Johnny questions if Wendy is hesitating because it still bothers her that he almost kissed Chanel. Wendy admits she hasn’t forgotten it. Johnny thought they talked through all of this. Johnny questions if Allie is filling Wendy’s head with doubts. Johnny then calls out for Chanel to come talk to Wendy and assure her that nothing is going on so they can move on from this. Wendy then stops Johnny and informs him that Chanel is not there because she moved out.

Paulina argues that Chanel and Allie were on a break and she had moved out, so it shouldn’t matter what happened in between. Paulina tells Chanel to go back and make things right. Chanel questions if she’s supposed to apologize again and beg for her to take her back. Paulina tells Abe to back her up. Abe tells Chanel that Paulina just wants her to be happy and they have both seen how happy Allie makes her. Paulina adds that sometimes you have to be humble and go the extra mile by reassuring the person you love that they mean the most to you. Chanel then shouts that she’ll go the extra mile by trying to forget about Allie sleeping with Alex Kiriakis, which shocks Paulina.

Stephanie tells Chad that she hopes they can put Alex behind them and just concentrate on them. Chad agrees and they kiss. Stephanie asks if the kids are sleeping and they are alone. Chad responds that they are not as the kids then enter the room. Thomas says he heard voices as they go to greet Stephanie. Thomas mentions that Chad didn’t tell them that Stephanie was coming over and asks what they are doing. Chad says nothing and that the kids have to go back to bed because it’s late. Thomas pleads that they want to hang out with Stephanie. Stephanie offers to read them their favorite book and then they can go to sleep which they agree to, so Stephanie sends the kids to go pick out a book. Chad thanks Stephanie.

Alex tells Allie that he will take the loss on this one because if he took a few more minutes to find his underwear, then Allie and Chanel would be having magical makeup sex now. Alex talks about the restraint they showed in not sleeping together and that all they got was Chanel angry and a couple of hangovers. Allie mentions that he wasn’t looking too good when she walked in so she asks if he’s still nursing his. Alex responds that the only hangover he’s nursing now is rejection. Allie asks what happened but Alex feels it’s better not to talk about it so he doesn’t have to relive those feelings. Alex then asks if she wants to wash down bitter heartbroken feelings together. Allie admits she’s interested but points out they’d have to deal with hangovers again. Alex remarks that nobody is going to have to take care of them like Stephanie or Chanel. Allie points out that she and Chanel are no longer living together. Alex asks why they are still here then while Allie decides they will go embrace the hangover and they exit together.

Paulina tells Chanel that there could be a million reasons that Alex left his underwear and suggests he sleeps naked. Chanel admits that’s what Allie said. Abe thinks that would be on brand for Alex. Paulina agrees and says they just got overserved at the bar, slept separately, and then Alex stumbled out without his underwear. Chanel wants to change the subject. Abe suggests they eat before the food gets cold. Chanel says they were obviously planning a romantic dinner for two so she is not going to ruin their evening. Paulina tries to stop her but Chanel exits. Abe feels bad that Chanel is really going through it. Paulina remarks that Mars must be in retrograde with relationships on the rocks except for theirs. Paulina worries that if there were already problems like jealousy and misunderstandings, they multiply like crazy.

Joey tells Tripp that he doesn’t have to step aside just because Johnny is in the mix. Joey argues that Tripp is just as legit of a choice as Johnny is and he thinks a better one. Tripp points out that he spent hours with Wendy today, so if she was interested, he thinks he would know. Joey tells him to open his eyes and remarks that it wouldn’t be the first time that he was clueless about a woman’s feelings for him. Tripp decides he will get them a round of beers and suggests talking about anything else when he gets back. As Tripp heads to the bar, Joey pulls out his phone and brings up Wendy’s number.

Johnny asks Wendy why this is getting so out of control when he and Chanel didn’t even do anything. Wendy argues that they have history. Johnny points out that implies in the past while he’s trying to be with Wendy now in the present. Johnny knows they agreed not to go on any dates, but says this is just a movie with zero pressure. Wendy admits maybe she is being overly cautious which is her problem. Wendy repeats that it is just a movie like he said, so she agrees to go with him. Johnny says if they leave now, they have time to catch a bite, but Wendy gets a call from Joey. Wendy says she was going to call him about his mom as it’s awful. Joey says it is, but right now it’s Tripp that he’s worried about because he’s in a bad way about his mom. Wendy mentions that Tripp talked to her about how hard it’s been. Joey tells her that Tripp said having her as a soundboard has really helped. Joey then tells Wendy that he has to go meet up with Steve about Kayla’s funeral, so he asks if Wendy would come to the Pub to keep Tripp company if she doesn’t mind. Wendy tells him that she’ll be there as soon as she can. Joey thanks her and says he’ll see her soon as they hang up. Johnny asks Wendy if something is wrong. Wendy informs him that Tripp has been going through something and she’s been an ear for him, so Joey asked her to come to the Pub to hang with Tripp for awhile. Johnny asks if it can’t wait. Wendy doesn’t think so and feels it must be urgent for Joey to call her with everything going on with Tripp’s mom. Johnny brings up Tripp’s mom killing his grandmother and says he could use some comfort tonight too. Wendy reminds him that their plan wasn’t for her to comfort him as they were going to watch a horror movie. Johnny acknowledges that she’s right and respects that she’s being a good friend, so he tells her to go ahead. Wendy thanks him for understanding and says they will go to a movie another time. Johnny says he will see her later and exits the apartment.

Tripp goes back to Joey at the Pub and informs him that Steve just called and he thinks they should go be with him because he sounded like he could really use the company and help with the funeral arrangements. Joey asks if he means right now and decides to go use the restroom before they go. Joey then texts Wendy to get there soon.

Stephanie reads to Thomas and Charlotte. Thomas mentions how Abigail used to read it to them. Stephanie adds that her mom used to read it to her too. Thomas thanks Stephanie. Stephanie says she kept up her end of the deal. Thomas argues that they are not tired and pleads to stay up a little longer. Chad notes that wasn’t part of the deal so that’s not going to work. Chad then gives in and lets them stay up for a few more minutes. Stephanie asks what they want to talk about. Thomas says he has a question for Stephanie and then asks if she and Chad are dating. Chad asks if it would be okay with them if they were.

Alex and Allie go to the bistro and begin drinking shots. Alex tells Allie that they may have slept in separate rooms last night, but when he saw Chad in the same clothes as last night, it was obvious that he and Stephanie did not. Allie thinks he’s just assuming and if they didn’t go to bed together, then he still has a chance. Alex loves that she has his back but says that’s not the whole story. Allie asks if it gets worse. Alex says he’s just getting started. Allie responds that she’s got all night and misery loves company as they continue drinking.

Chanel walks through the town square and comes across Johnny. Johnny says he was just at her place which apparently isn’t her place anymore. Johnny asks if she really moved out. Chanel informs him that she and Allie decided to take a break and then Allie decided to extend it. Johnny guesses it’s about them. Chanel explains that it’s not just that but Alex Kiriakis spending the night and losing his underwear at Allie’s place. Johnny questions if Allie turned their threesome in to a twosome. Chanel says that Allie denies it but she doesn’t know anymore. Chanel calls it bad either way. Johnny asks if she’s just wandering the streets now. Chanel explains that she went home for awhile but Abe and Paulina were having a romantic dinner, so she told them that she would give them space. Johnny invites Chanel to the movies with him. Chanel asks if he’s sure that’s a good idea and asks what about Wendy.

Joey returns to Tripp and asks what the rush is. Tripp says he’s been here awhile and he wants to go be with their dad. Wendy then arrives at the Pub. Joey greets her with a hug and whispers to her not to tell Tripp that he asked her to come.

Chad tells Thomas and Charlotte that he will always love Abigail, just like he knows they will. Chad says he was going to tell them about he and Stephanie but he wanted to wait for the right time. Chad says it makes him very happy that they like Stephanie so much because he really likes her too. Chad wants to make sure that him dating her doesn’t confuse them or make them feel bad. The kids confirm that it doesn’t. Thomas then asks if they are going to get married. Chad calls that a very big step that’s too big to talk about right now, so right now they are talking about the very small step. Chad asks the kids if it’s okay and if they want to spend more time with Stephanie. Thomas and Charlotte then turn around and hug Stephanie which she takes as a yes.

Tripp hugs Wendy and says they were just talking about her so it’s a coincidence that they would run in to her right after. Wendy claims she was just bored with no one at the apartment so she decided to come here. Joey invites her to have a beer with them so they sit back down. Joey mentions that Tripp was just telling him how much Wendy helped him out. Wendy asks Tripp if there’s been any change with his mom. Tripp says he still hasn’t spoken to anyone from Bayview. Joey comments on how great it is that Wendy was there for Tripp. Wendy assures Tripp that she’s always around whenever he needs to talk.

Alex tells Allie that he got hopeful when Stephanie said she read his apology but that was dashed really fast. Allie questions what is wrong with Stephanie since Alex didn’t mean to hurt her. Alex says he’s the one who messed up so he can’t be mad at Stephanie or Chad. Alex declares that they ended as friends and that’s as much as he’ll ever get. Allie says they’ve heard each others’ tale of woe. Alex asks what’s next as they drink another shot. Allie then calls for another round of shots.

Johnny tells Chanel that Tripp is apparently upset about his mom and needs Wendy’s shoulder to cry on which means he has an extra movie ticket and Wendy’s loss could be Chanel’s gain. Chanel really doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Johnny disagrees and knows that she’s worried about Allie finding out. Chanel doesn’t think they need that headache and it’s already so messy. Johnny argues that it’s not their fault. Johnny offers to put an empty seat between them and adds that Allie never has to know.

Chad walks Stephanie to the door and tells her that was unexpected. Stephanie thinks he did great. Chad says it helps that the kids already liked her. They joke about their reactions when Thomas asked if they would get married. Stephanie says she’s very relieved and flattered to get the thumbs up from his wonderful kids. Stephanie and Chad then kiss.

Abe and Paulina sit down for their dinner but Paulina feels she needs to go get Chanel and bring her back. Paulina feels it’s partially her fault since she encouraged Chanel to go home to Allie and now it’s all messed up. Abe feels she gave her sound advice and can’t be to blame for that. Paulina can’t stand seeing Chanel hurt. Abe encourages that Chanel is a grown woman, wise like her mom, so she should trust her to find the right fix while they concentrate on themselves for a change.

Johnny tells Chanel that they can wear sunglasses and enter separately. Chanel then gives in and accepts Johnny’s invitation. Chanel jokes that she will need a disguise too. Chanel then asks what movie it is. Johnny reveals that it’s Evil Dead II. Chanel then declines and says watching The Exorcist with him before was enough for her. Johnny can’t believe it and asks if no one will see the movie with him. Chanel declares that she will buy him a drink to make up for it so Johnny asks where she wants to go.

Joey praises Tripp to Wendy until Tripp cuts him off and starts doing the same to him. Joey notes that it’s late so he’s going to go check on Steve and the funeral arrangements. Tripp says they will go but Joey says he and Steve can handle it and tells Tripp and Wendy to hang out. Tripp follows after Joey and guesses that he called Wendy. Joey tries to deny it but then admits that he called Wendy. Tripp questions why he did that. Joey says he was trying to do him a favor since he knows he wants to hang with her. Joey says he’s welcome and then exits the Pub.

Abe and Paulina finish their dinner. Paulina tells him that he outdid himself and that dinner was sublime. Abe asks if she’s still worried about Chanel. Paulina says she’s not, thanks to him. Paulina calls Abe a very wise man and she’s so grateful for him always giving her perspective. Abe is sure that she would do the same for him. Abe says they make a pretty good team. Abe thinks it’s time for dessert. Paulina kisses him and says she’s definitely ready.

Chad goes back to the living room and tells Thomas and Charlotte that it’s time for bed. Thomas complains that he’s in the middle of his game. Chad says he can finish tomorrow. Thomas asks for one more book. Chad says only after they are tucked in. Chad tells the kids that he’s grateful that they have been so sweet and welcoming to Stephanie. Chad tells Thomas and Charlotte that he loves them more than anything and nothing will be more important to him than them. Chad says even though he likes Stephanie a lot and they do too, no one will ever replace their mother. Chad then hugs his kids.

Joey walks through the town square and runs into Stephanie. They mention that they are both heading home to see Steve. Stephanie asks if Tripp is coming. Joey says probably not for awhile as he’s tied up or at least he hopes he is..

Tripp goes back to Wendy and asks where they were. Wendy asks what he was talking to Joey about at the door.

Allie and Alex continue drinking shots. Alex holds the lemon from his drink in his mouth while Allie leans over the table to take it from him right as Chanel and Johnny walk in and see them.

EJ finds Stefan in the living room of the DiMera Mansion and asks him if everything’s alright. Stefan says he’s fine and asks why. EJ reminds him that it was supposed to be his first day back at the office as co-CEO. Stefan responds that he’s actually been having second thoughts about that which EJ questions. Stefan declares that he doesn’t think he should be in the job or that EJ should either.

Gabi goes to the police station. Jada tells her that Rafe is busy but Gabi demands entry in to the interrogation room now.

Rafe has Dr. Rolf in the interrogation room. Dr. Rolf complains that he has important work to do. Rafe tells him that he can get him out of here as soon as he flips on his partners in crime.

Li sits in the town square, on the phone calling someone an idiot for not keeping Dr. Rolf out of Salem. Li questions why he would calm down when he’s about to lose everything.

Brady enters the Brady Pub and finds Eric drinking a beer in the middle of the afternoon which he questions. Eric asks if Brady cares to join him. Brady declines, reminding him that he’s sober which Eric says he can respect. Brady thought Eric was sober too. Eric turns away but Brady stops him and says he’s just concerned, bringing up that he did just take a gun out of his hands. Eric argues that he was trying to get Kristen to tell them where the orchid was. Brady says he understands and he’s not judging. Brady talks about it being a horrific time for all of them and says they could all use support. Eric questions if he’s trying to get him to go to a meeting. Eric insists that he’s fine. Brady remarks on him solo day drinking. Eric argues that he just lost his mom and asks if he can blame him for having a beer to try to take the edge off. Brady talks about missing Marlena so much and she was always so good at helping them through the hard stuff. Eric questions how to go on without her. Brady says they lean on each other and that’s the only way. Eric hugs Brady.

EJ questions Stefan not being sure they should be co-CEOs when just yesterday, he was toasting their future. Stefan responds that he’s been doing a lot of thinking about how badly they treated Gabi. EJ asks if Stefan is feeling okay because it sounded like he expressed sympathy for Gabi. Stefan points out that they teamed up to oust Gabi from a job that she was doing very successfully, so he feels they made a mistake. EJ questions if Stefan wants to restore Gabi as CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Stefan calls Gabi a strong leader, smart, creative, and incredibly driven. EJ questions what the hell is wrong with him since he thought Stefan hated Gabi with every fiber of his being. Stefan says not anymore.

Jada tells Gabi that Rafe asked not to be interrupted. Gabi argues that she needs to speak to Dr. Rolf immediately. Jada brings up Gabi forcing Dr. Rolf to perform a medical procedure against his will. Gabi argues about Stefan being brainwashed and says it’s an emergency as Dr. Rolf needs to deprogram Stefan immediately.

Rafe tells Dr. Rolf that he’s not even sure where to begin with him since there is so damn much. Rafe brings up Dr. Rolf hiding Stefan DiMera from the world for four years and then brainwashing him, meanwhile Orpheus somehow managed to get his hands on a toxin that killed Kate, Kayla, and Marlena. Rafe brings up that Orpheus got that from a lab. Dr. Rolf argues that he did everything in his power to save the women. Rafe argues that he created the pathogen. Dr. Rolf says he didn’t infect anyone and worked to create an antidote. Rafe calls him a coward, not a hero. Rafe points out that Dr. Rolf gave Kristen the orchid right before they busted in to his lab. Dr. Rolf claims he had nothing to hide. Rafe questions if he fled overseas because he’s innocent. Rafe warns Dr. Rolf to start talking because this is going to be his last chance to avoid life in prison. Dr. Rolf asks who he expects him to implicate. Rafe says all of his accomplices, Kristen, and Li Shin. Rafe suggests starting with Li.

Li finishes his phone call after complaining that if Dr. Rolf flips, he’ll never get his job or his wife back and he could face life in prison. Sloan walks by and comments that it sounds like he needs a lawyer. Li responds that he already has one, but Sloan points out that she’s the best one.

Dr. Rolf comments on this being personal to Rafe. Rafe confirms that it is and brings up Li almost pulling the plug on Stefan. Rafe notes that if Kristen hadn’t showed up when she did, Stefan would be dead. Dr. Rolf remarks that he already was dead. Rafe argues that Dr. Rolf took Stefan’s dead brother’s heart and put it in his chest and then after stabilizing him, he brainwashed him because that’s what Kristen and Li wanted. Dr. Rolf claims not to know what he’s talking about. Rafe argues that he knows damn well what he’s talking about because he admitted everything to Gabi and then shot her full of something to make her forget. Rafe adds that unfortunately for him, Gabi’s memories came back to her at the wedding. Dr. Rolf questions what he needs him for if he knows all of this already. Rafe responds that Gabi’s word is hearsay and won’t hold up in court, so he needs Dr. Rolf to corroborate her story. Dr. Rolf responds that he cannot do that because he knows nothing about any of this. Rafe asks if he wants to go back to prison and guarantees there will not be any pardons this time. Dr. Rolf asks if Rafe is offering him a deal. Rafe says that will be up to the district attorney but he can guarantee that to get Melinda Trask on his side, he will need to give up Li Shin and all of his accomplices.

Sloan introduces herself to Li. Li notes her reputation preceding her. Sloan says she’s read all the stories about him in the tabloids. Li argues that the police have no evidence against him. Sloan gathers from his phone call that it could all change very quickly. Sloan advises Li to hire her. Li questions why she would want to represent someone who is completely screwed. Sloan says it’s money, so if Li digs deep in to the pockets, she will make all those charges go away. Li comments on if she handles divorces. Sloan questions him giving up already after just getting married. Li responds that he has no choice. Sloan asks what kind of attitude that is. Li calls it realistic as he doesn’t see any way of turning this around. Sloan suggests he think outside the box. Li says that’s how he got in to this mess in the first place. Sloan declares that now she’s going to get him out of it.

Gabi explains to Jada that Dr. Rolf only did half the job, so she needs him to finish deprogramming Stefan or he could get stuck this way forever. Jada suggests he can wait a week or two and all will be fine. Gabi argues that she can’t take that risk as everything is on the line. Gabi calls Stefan the love of her life and she needs him all the way back while he needs her to get him there.

Stefan explains to EJ that Gabi had knocked him over the head and dragged him in to the basement so that Dr. Rolf could deprogram him. EJ says he wondered where he was and figured he was hiding from Gabi. EJ tells Stefan that he’s sorry. Stefan understands he was oblivious. EJ confirms that he was and mentions that he and Nicole were up here drinking the cocktails that Stefan had poured to celebrate their alliance. Stefan then remembers drugging EJ’s drink which Nicole ended up drinking. Stefan remarks that he’s glad someone could enjoy them. EJ talks about how Nicole can usually handle her liquor but these drinks seemed to really hit her hard. Nicole then walks in and says the drinks still are hitting her hard but she has no idea why…

Eric asks Brady how Rachel is. Brady responds that she’s mad, confused, and angry at Chloe because she blames Chloe for Kristen having to go away. Brady says he’s tried persuading her otherwise to no avail. Brady asks about the women in Eric’s life. Eric responds that he and Jada are doing a great job of avoiding each other while he and Nicole are working on it. Brady asks if that’s what this is all about because he knows he still has feelings for Nicole and probably always will.

EJ checks on Nicole and comments that it really was some hangover. Nicole says she can’t seem to shake the headaches and nausea. Nicole argues that it doesn’t make sense since she only had a mimosa and champagne. Stefan says he’s sorry she’s feeling this way. Stefan decides he will have cook make her tea and toast. EJ thanks him and says they will finish their conversation as Stefan exits the room. Nicole sits with EJ and says she didn’t mean to interrupt. EJ tells her not to worry about it. Nicole tells EJ that she still feels so embarrassed about throwing herself at him yesterday. EJ repeats there’s no reason to be. Nicole knows they already talked but she understands if he wants to put the brakes on. EJ says not at all and he looks forward to taking her on the proper dinner that he promised her. EJ says tonight, she’s not feeling well and he has a fire to put out with Stefan. Nicole jokes about being familiar with fires like a dumpster fire as EJ hugs her.

Eric questions Brady saying he still has feelings for Nicole and calls that ridiculous since they are divorced. Brady brings up that it’s been 25 years and every time they split up, they find a way back together. Eric says not this time. Eric tells Brady that he and Nicole are over and moving on. Brady bets Roman doesn’t believe him either. Eric says no one believes him except himself and the woman he’s now seeing which he can live with. Brady questions if he’s talking about Sloan and if that’s a friends with benefits situation. Eric calls that exactly what he wants right now. Brady asks if he wants something shallow and meaningless without feelings like the ones he has for Nicole. Eric tells him to stop. Brady tells Eric to just admit that he’s fooling around with Sloan just to prove that he’s not still pining away for the love of his life.

Li admires Sloan’s confidence but says it all seems a little too good to be true as she can’t possibly deliver on her promises. Sloan tells him to try her. Li questions how she’s going to persuade Gabi to stay married to him. Sloan points out that Gabi hasn’t served him with divorce papers so she can’t be that eager to end their marriage and she thinks Gabi must be having second thoughts. Li explains to her about how Gabi pretended she wanted to get back together to get her hands on his burner phone to reach out to Dr. Rolf. Sloan suggests they deal with Dr. Rolf first and then they fight the divorce. Li argues that he can’t force Gabi to stay married to him. Sloan says he can and he just needs the right attorney.

Rafe tells Dr. Rolf to write down everything he can remember with the more details, the better. Rafe adds that if he gives him enough to put Li Shin away, then he might just earn a get out of jail free card. Gabi then walks in and tells Rafe that he has to let Dr. Rolf go.

Eric tells Brady that he has nothing to prove to anyone and that he’s moved on. Brady tells Eric to be honest with himself. Anna enters the Pub and tells Eric that she’s so sorry about his mother as she hugs him. Anna calls Marlena a remarkable woman and one of her dearest friends, so she can’t believe she’s gone. Anna brings up that Carrie is heartbroken and she feels for Roman losing his wife, his ex-wife, and his sister, so she came to send her condolences. Eric tells her that Roman isn’t here so Anna says she will come back later. Anna tells Eric and Brady to just ask if they need anything. Anna acknowledges that Brady lost his stepmother while the whole mess with Stefan and Chloe just seems to get crazier. Brady asks what she means. Anna realizes he didn’t hear about last night so Brady asks what happened. Anna explains that Chloe came by the DiMera Mansion to tell Stefan that they shouldn’t see each other anymore but then she got a call from Vivian, informing them that Gabi had Stefan held captive in the secret room in the basement which Brady questions. Anna adds that she and Chloe ran down there and found that Vivian was telling the truth as Gabi had Stefan tied up and rigged to a machine that Dr. Rolf was using to deprogram him. Eric questions Dr. Rolf being there. Anna says Gabi apparently tracked him down. Anna reveals that Stefan’s feelings for Gabi have been successfully rekindled. Brady asks if that means Stefan and Chloe are over. Anna says not exactly.

EJ fills Nicole in on Stefan being in love with Gabi again. Nicole says that certainly complicates things. Stefan returns and asks if they are talking about him. EJ says he was just filling Nicole in on last night’s events. Nicole still can’t believe she slept through that. EJ understands she was will. Nicole asks how Stefan is since what Dr. Rolf put him through is insane. Stefan admits he got nervous but he’s happy with the end result. Nicole brings up Brady and Chloe being her dear friends, so she’s glad that Stefan decided to let Chloe go. Stefan questions who told her that. Nicole points out that EJ told her that he’s in love with Gabi again. Stefan says that might be true, but there is an additional piece and complication which Nicole and EJ question. Stefan then reveals that he is also still in love with Chloe.

Rafe questions what Gabi is doing when he’s in the middle of an interrogation. Jada says she tried to stop her. Gabi says she can explain. Rafe tells Gabi that she needs to leave but Gabi refuses to leave without Dr. Rolf because he needs to finish fixing Stefan. Rafe says not until he agrees to testify and gives him a full statement. Dr. Rolf reminds Gabi that he cannot finish the process because his equipment was destroyed. Gabi argues that he needs to get new equipment and she doesn’t care how much it costs or what it takes because he needs to get Chloe Lane out of her husband’s head. Gabi then orders Dr. Rolf to start writing his statement.

Brady questions Anna about Dr. Rolf not being able to finish the process. Anna explains that his machine went out and smoke was coming out of it while Gabi yelled at him to do something and then the cops showed up and arrested Dr. Rolf. Brady asks if Chloe is okay. Anna says she’s not sure as Chloe got upset and ran out. Anna can’t believe Chloe didn’t tell him about this. Brady says he can’t either. Anna suggests Chloe didn’t tell him because tomorrow is Marlena’s funeral, but she does think she would appreciate some support. Brady pulls out his phone and calls Chloe but it goes straight to voicemail. Eric questions why he didn’t leave a message. Brady decides he’s going to the Salem Inn to talk to her in person. Eric wishes Brady luck as he then exits. Anna then notices Kate’s urn on the counter. Eric says Roman likes having her around as it gives him comfort. Anna relates to that but points out that the urn she used to carry around ended up not being Tony’s ashes so she jokes that Roman should have that checked out. Eric says he’ll let Roman know that she stopped by and that it was good to see her as he then exits the Pub. Anna comments on all the grief that they have to deal with while she’s just sitting there. Anna goes to the br and comments to Kate’s urn that she feels so useless. Anna then declares that there is definitely something she can do as she exits the Pub.

EJ questions Stefan being in love with two women and calls that quite a complicated situation. Nicole picks up a piece of toast but then decides she needs some air and she’ll be back. Nicole then exits. EJ hopes she will be okay. Stefan assures that she’ll be fine. EJ points out that Stefan didn’t mention earlier that Dr. Rolf couldn’t erase his feelings for Chloe. Stefan explains that his equipment malfunctioned before he could finish the procedure. EJ says if Stefan is still in love with Chloe, he should understand why reinstating Gabi is a terrible idea but Stefan says he doesn’t. EJ points out that putting Gabi in charge of DiMera would burn a few bridges with Chloe. Stefan questions keeping things as they are with them in charge. EJ says they worked so hard, so telling the board they made a huge mistake could hurt the stock prices and they can’t take that risk, so they need to stay the course. Stefan supposes he’s right.

Rafe questions what Dr. Rolf is waiting for. Dr. Rolf claims he has writer’s block and that Gabi isn’t helping. Rafe asks Gabi to give them a minute. Gabi tries to argue but Jada escorts her back out of the room. Gabi complains to Jada that Dr. Rolf hates her. Jada assures that Rafe will wrap things up soon and encourages Gabi to go home, promising to call as soon as they finish. Gabi agrees to go. Jada suggests she try to get some rest but Gabi says there’s no chance of that until she gets her man back. Gabi then exits the station.

Li argues that even if Sloan can keep Gabi from divorcing him, it won’t be much of a marriage if she hates him and he’s in prison. Sloan reminds him that she can make the criminal charges go away. Li asks how. Sloan tells him not to worry as she has a plan which she will put in motion when she’s hired. Li tells her that she’s hired and asks now what. Sloan tells him to sit back, relax, and leave the details to her.

Dr. Rolf writes down Li and Kristen’s names. Rafe encourages him to keep going. Dr. Rolf asks if this is not enough. Rafe says no and warns that if he wants to avoid prison, he will give him everyone he’s got.

EJ thought Stefan was looking forward to them working together. Stefan says he is, but he still feels terrible about what they did to Gabi. EJ calls Gabi an outsider and he feels very strongly that DiMera Enterprises should be run by DiMeras. Stefan says that’s as long as one of them is him. EJ brings up apologizing for not speaking up sooner about what was done to him, but reminds Stefan that being co-CEO is what he wanted and was excited about. Stefan wishes Gabi had him deprogrammed months ago. EJ apologizes again for his role in preventing that and says he’s very grateful that Stefan has forgiven him. EJ hopes that Stefan was sincere in saying he had forgiven him. Stefan claims that all is forgiven or he wouldn’t be going in to business with him.

Gabi walks through the town square and comes across Li. Gabi informs Li that Dr. Rolf is back in Salem and Stefan is madly in love with her again. Li questions why she isn’t with him now then. Gabi admits they had a minor complication but says it’s nothing that can’t be fixed and claims that she’s on cloud nine now because she will soon have her real husband back.

Brady goes to Chloe’s room at the Salem Inn and knocks on the door, asking if she is inside. Anna appears behind him and startles him as she suggests he knock again. Brady asks what she’s doing here. Anna responds that she thought he could use a mediator, a woman well versed in the trials and tribulations of romance, to keep his conversation with Chloe on the right track. Brady thanks her but doesn’t think she’s home. Anna calls that perfect since when Chloe comes back, she’ll be in for the most wonderful surprise. Brady asks what she means. Anna tells him to wait there and she’ll be right back.

Nicole sits outside in the park and has a drink of water, saying that’s much better. Nicole decides it’s time to go but then feels bad again and says maybe it wasn’t a good idea to stand up. Nicole starts to fall down as Eric rushes up and catches her.

Anna returns to Brady with a key card and explains that she convinced and paid off the front desk. Anna tells Brady to just go on inside and then when Chloe comes back home and finds the love of her life waiting for her, she’ll be overjoyed. Brady isn’t sure that Chloe would be too happy about the breaking and entering when he told her that he would give her space. Anna insists that Chloe doesn’t want space, she wants him, and urges him to open the door. Brady then uses the key card and enters Chloe’s room. Anna follows him inside. Brady thanks her for caring but he doesn’t think she needs to be there. Anna responds that she doesn’t have anywhere better to be. Brady appreciates her encouragement but says he and Chloe don’t need a mediator. Anna suggests a videographer and offers to record their happy reunion. Brady then realizes that none of Chloe’s things are in the room, everything is cleaned out, and he doesn’t see her suitcase. They wonder where Chloe has gone.

Li laughs at Stefan’s feelings for Gabi being back but he’s still not sure she’s the one he wants. Gabi tells him to stop gloating and calls it a minor setback. Gabi doesn’t even know why she told him. Li understands she was venting. Gabi blames Li for ruining her life. Gabi assures that Dr. Rolf will finish his procedure and then Stefan will want only her. Li responds that he wouldn’t be so sure about that. Gabi argues that he’s just spiteful, cynical, and jealous as hell. Gabi adds that she’ll never want Li again and that Dr. Rolf is ratting him out to the cops right now so he should be on his way to prison soon. Li responds that he wouldn’t be so sure about that either.

Dr. Rolf finishes writing his statement, so Rafe tells him to sign it. Sloan then interrupts and tells Dr. Rolf not to sign that as she announces she is new attorney which excites Dr. Rolf.

Eric asks Nicole what is going on. Nicole says it’s nothing and that she and EJ just did a little too much celebrating last night. Eric questions her still being hungover at 5 PM. Nicole says it was quite a night and insists she’s fine. Eric asks if she’s okay to walk home. Nicole responds that she’s not going to get in a car with him because she smells beer on his breath. Eric offers to call her a cab. Nicole says she has it but realizes she doesn’t have her phone. Nicole then mocks Sloan by remarking to Eric that maybe she left her phone in EJ’s bed. Eric says he’s happy to help her but Nicole says she can take care of herself and storms off.

EJ thanks Stefan for being willing to put his deception behind them and for being reasonable and understanding. Stefan jokes that it’s not exactly the DiMera way. EJ suggests it could be the new way. Stefan then suggests they finish the tea that was brought for Nicole which EJ agrees to. Stefan drugs one of the cups behind EJ’s back and then gives it to him as they then drink the tea.

At the Brady Pub, Roman brings coffee to John and Steve for their strategy session. Steve asks Roman if he’s sure that he’s okay with going after Orpheus. Roman assures that Orpheus has already taken the women they love and he doesn’t want to think about him going after their kids or grandkids, so he will not let Orpheus hurt another person they love. Steve declares that the only way to stop him is to put him in the ground. John adds that the only question is how do they want to do it?

Orpheus brings Lucas another bottle of whiskey in prison. Orpheus remarks that now that his killjoy brother isn’t around to deprive him, Lucas can actually enjoy it.

Stephanie goes to the Titan office to see Sonny but instead finds Alex at the desk.

At the Horton House, Chad enters the living room where Doug and Julie are emotionally going through an old family photo album. Julie starts to cry while thinking of all the people they have lost and says she just hopes they have found peace…

In the Afterlife, the fake and possessed “Susan Banks” reveals himself to Marlena, Kate, and Kayla, turning out to actually be Nick Fallon! Nick explains that he was afraid if he revealed his true form to them, they wouldn’t give him the time of day. Nick confirms that he made Kayla believe that he was Adrienne, made Marlena believe he was Susan, and for Kate, he posed as Jordan Ridgeway. Marlena questions why he is here while Kayla asks why they are here. Nick reveals that he needed them to sign the papers that he got them to sign.

Roman says how to kill Orpheus isn’t the problem, but how to get close to him. John agrees, noting that Orpheus getting locked up didn’t keep them safe from him but it does keep him safe from them. Roman remarks that they can’t just stroll in to prison with a gun. Steve says the easiest way to get next to a prisoner is get sent to prison. Steve suggests getting locked up with Orpheus, pointing out that he has a criminal record so all he has to do is commit the right crime, plead guilty, and he’ll be on his way to get close to Orpheus.

Orpheus encourages Lucas to take a drink. Lucas tells Orpheus to enjoy it. Orpheus claims he was just trying to cheer him up, since he’s been walking around with a black cloud over his head. Lucas responds that it’s because his mom is dead. Orpheus remarks that he’s sorry for his loss. Lucas says at least he can take satisfaction in knowing they are in here together. Orpheus takes a drink of the whiskey and asks if Lucas is glad to spend some quality time with him. Lucas responds that if it were up to him, he’d watch him burn in Hell but justice is the next best thing. Lucas declares that his mother may have lost her life, but at least he knows her killer will never breathe fresh air again. Orpheus says he sympathizes with his anger, but says the problem is he’s not the one who killed Kate.

Roman questions Steve wanting to commit a crime to get close to Orpheus. John asks if Steve has any crime in mind. Steve says it would have to be something serious enough to get him sent to Orpheus’ cell block. Steve suggests an old fashioned breaking and entering. Steve asks what Roman thinks about using the Pub. Roman doesn’t think that would get him in to a cell with a murderous thug like Orpheus. John agrees that he’d need a serious offense for that. Roman asks what if he doesn’t actually have to commit a crime. Roman suggests Steve try convincing Melinda that he needs to get close to Orpheus and she might be happy to send him to prison. John thinks Melinda would question why Steve wants to get close to Orpheus. Steve thinks Melinda might want Orpheus to pay for his crimes, but she wouldn’t sign off on his cold blooded murder. John says they are back to square one. Steve feels they need to find an honest way to get him sent to prison. Roman points out that he could commit the perfect crime but it could end up being months before he’s sent to prison. John then points out that once Steve takes Orpheus out, they wouldn’t be able to get him out of jail. Roman and John agree that Kayla and Marlena wouldn’t want that. John says they can’t do this because Steve’s family needs him and Orpheus has taken enough from them.

Lucas accuses Orpheus of poisoning Kate just like he did to Kayla and Marlena. Orpheus doesn’t deny that but says that was the culmination of a war that began a long time ago. Orpheus calls that old news and says that Kate was cured of her ailment months ago, as were her others. Lucas argues that she was in remission but wasn’t cured. Orpheus says that if they continued to receive treatment from the Orchid, they would’ve all gone on to live long, productive lives. Lucas blames Orpheus for the women being gone. Orpheus suggests Lucas take it up with Kristen for withholding the orchid. Lucas argues that it wasn’t on Kristen, but whoever stole the orchid. Orpheus tells him that is his culprit. Orpheus asks why Lucas and the rest chase down this dastardly Orpheus thief. Lucas points out they have no idea who it is. Orpheus suggests he save his anger for Rafe then because if the police did their job, he’d know exactly who signed the death warrant for his mother.

Alex asks Stephanie if she’s okay. Stephanie responds that she was just expecting to find Sonny here. Alex understands since it is Sonny’s office. Stephanie asks if he’s around. Alex informs her that he took the day off to spend it with Will and Arianna, so he’s handling any pressing Titan business. Alex asks if she needs him to take a look at something. Stephanie says no and that it’s okay as it’s just PR work that can wait a week. Alex notes that she is really on top of it. Stephanie says she’s just trying to stay busy and asks him to tell Sonny that she dropped it off which he agrees to do. Stephanie then goes to leave but stops and informs Alex that she read his card.

Julie tells Chad that she used to love going through the old photo albums, but the older she gets, the more people she realizes that they have lost. Doug jokes about almost being 100. Julie says she cherishes every single moment with him and all the people she loves. Julie wishes all of them could have been as lucky as they are because she misses them all that were taken before their time. Julie says even the ones whose lives were spinning out of control, like her poor tortured cousin Nick…

Kate, Marlena, and Kayla question Nick about what they have signed that they were told was supposed to get them to the next level of Heaven. Nick reveals that they were actually signing a contract of sale. Nick informs them that they have just sold him their souls. Kate asks if Nick is telling them that he’s the Devil which he laughs at. Nick says that’s a different guy. Marlena guesses he just works for him which Nick confirms. Nick says the Devil is not a bad boss if you do his bidding. Nick tells Marlena that the Devil misses her. Nick notes that the Devil is very busy, so he dispatched him to get them to sign over their souls. Nick jokes that he thought it’d be a lot more difficult, but it was easy. Nick declares that there is now nothing left to do but collect.

Lucas tells Orpheus that he can pass the blame all he wants, but Kate, Kayla, and Marlena’s deaths are on his head. Lucas argues that if they were never infected, they wouldn’t have needed the cure. Orpheus repeats that they had the cure until it was stolen. Orpheus calls it peculiar that someone set something in motion and then someone else responds leading to consequences no one could have been seen. Lucas argues that Orpheus knew what would happen because he wanted them dead. Orpheus says he’s bored talking in circles, so he has to go mop the kitchen. Lucas hopes he falls and breaks his neck. Orpheus says he won’t take it personally since he’s going through a traumatic time. Orpheus claims he was just trying to help because he hates to see him suffer. Orpheus leaves the bottle of whiskey with Lucas as he exits the visiting room.

Alex questions Stephanie reading his card. She thanks him for writing it and for his apology. Alex assures that he meant every word and that he has never regretted anything more in his life. Alex repeats that he is truly sorry. Stephanie says she believes him and she appreciates everything that he said. Alex guesses it’s not enough for another chance. Stephanie says she’s sorry but she doesn’t think they can go back to what they had before because too much has happened. Alex asks if that’s because of him turning her phone off or because she slept with Chad.

Julie talks about how she still thinks about Nick all the time and what went wrong. Julie says she’s still grieving for Nick and if he was still on Earth, she would try to help him with what he did but he’s gone. Doug adds that it will take a far higher power to judge Nick. Julie thinks if there’s any justice at all, Nick will suffer for his sins in the afterlife. Chad hopes that Marlena, Kate, and Kayla’s killer will suffer the same fate.

John wonders if they are making this more complicated than it has to be because they don’t need to be in prison long, just for a moment alone with Orpheus. Roman asks if he means visiting. John points out that prisoners have visitation, so once they get alone with him, they take him out. Steve admits that would take out a lot of steps. Roman reminds him of the prison’s security with guards everywhere so they can’t just walk in with a weapon. John points out that weapons come in many forms so they can figure that out. Roman asks what happens after Orpheus turns up dead after they visit him. Steve says they can worry about the consequences after they take Orpheus out. John questions if Roman is still on board with this. Roman assures that he is on board with killing Orpheus, but not with him taking the rest of their lives. John says they are brainstorming here and asks Roman how to waste the guy without taking their own freedom. Roman says they can’t get close enough to Orpheus to get caught or there’s no vindication. Roman suggests they come at Orpheus indirectly.

Alex informs Stephanie that when he brought the card and flowers, the door was open and he wasn’t trying to look but she was there with Chad in his line of sight. Alex reveals he saw them kissing and got the message loud and clear, so he left everything at the door and took off. Stephanie remembers hearing something that night. Alex adds that he ran in to Chad this morning and he was still wearing yesterday’s clothes, so he did the math. Stephanie confirms she’s not going to deny it because she has no reason to lie to him. Stephanie tells Alex that it wasn’t planned but she and Chad had gotten close. Stephanie talks about how Chad was still grieving and wasn’t in the place to be in a relationship, but then last night, he showed up and said he was finally ready to move on. Alex remarks that it’s good timing since Stephanie was available.

Kate argues that every contract has loopholes but Nick says the terms are laid out clearly and that the Devil has lawyers. Kate questions the contract which Nick explains are not in English since he was around before that existed. Nick confirms to them that their souls now belong to Satan. Kate asks what they get in return for selling their souls. Marlena says the Devil tends to offer an earthly reward for one’s souls. Marlena talks about how in movies, the person gets their reward while they are alive. Kate points out that the Devil only comes after they die. Nick jokes that those movies sound amazing. Kate questions again what they get in return for selling their souls. Nick decides he does owe them a reward and they are getting it after they died, but he thinks they will find it was well worth the wait. Nick then hands them each a two dollar bill. Marlena questions selling their souls for two dollars. Nick talks about how the two dollar bill is rare. Kate calls it ridiculous and useless. Marlena calls it insane and Kayla calls it pathetic. Kate hits Nick and calls him a son of a bitch.

Steve questions how to go after Orpheus indirectly. Roman reminds him that they already have someone in prison in Lucas. John questions asking Lucas to take out Orpheus. Steve acknowledges that Lucas lost his mom, so he’s just as furious as they are and desperate for revenge. Roman points out that Lucas is not beyond the crime after what he did to Sami, but clarifies that he’s not talking about asking Lucas to do their dirty work, just to provide some intel. Roman feels Lucas would have some clever ideas on how to get to Orpheus, so the first step is he will pay Lucas a visit.

Chad looks through the photo album and sees a picture of he and Abigail on their wedding day, which he calls the happiest day of his life. Julie and Doug talk about worrying about Chad being deep in pain and understanding that pain will never entirely go away. Julie says they are hoping and praying that somehow, someday, Chad is able to find love again. Chad mentions that he and Jack actually just talked about that. Julie informs him that Jack told her that he was encouraging Chad to move on. Chad admits it was helpful. Chad then reveals to Doug and Julie that it was new, but he’s started seeing Stephanie Johnson which Doug and Julie call wonderful. Julie praises Stephanie and points out that his kids adore her. Julie thinks they would be good together. Chad is glad to hear her say that. Julie wishes them all the happiness and says they have been in desperate need of good news like this.

Stephanie tells Alex that she didn’t know if Chad would ever be able to move on and then she and Alex got together. Alex points out that now she’s free because of what he did and he accepts that he made a terrible mistake that he can’t take back. Alex wishes he could give her another chance to talk to her mother but he can’t do that either. Stephanie tells Alex how hurt she was by him turning her off her phone, but she understands that he didn’t do it on purpose and it was just a case of really bad timing. Stephanie says if they were just talking about their relationship, maybe she could try to get past it, but now there is something between her and Chad and she wants to see where it goes.

Kate tells Nick that this is a crap deal. Marlena adds that it’s not fair. Kayla refuses to go anywhere with him. Kayla points out that none of them knew what they were signing, so the deal cannot be binding. Nick tells them to open their minds as they are not in a courtroom in Salem, but in the Great Beyond where he has final word. Kate argues that Nick only works for the Devil, so they are going to do the end run around him. Kate says they are demanding to talk to his boss.

Alex thanks Stephanie for being honest with him and making her feelings clear. Alex didn’t know if what was happening with her and Chad was a one time thing. Stephanie confirms they are taking it day by day and she doesn’t know what the future holds for them, but she’s hopeful. Alex tells Stephanie that he won’t keep bothering her or begging for her to come back. Stephanie thanks him. Alex says as far as Titan, Sonny is still the CEO so he can handle whatever she needs. Stephanie thinks that is best for a little while. Stephanie adds that maybe after Kayla’s funeral and things settle down a bit, maybe they can still be friends.

Roman visits Lucas in prison. Lucas asks what he’s doing here. Roman says he came for a visit. Lucas didn’t think he’d ever want to see or talk to him after what he did to Sami. Roman admits he’s still angry about that but no matter what, he’s still Kate’s son and she knows he would hate for him to be alone. Lucas thanks him and says it means a lot to him. Roman asks how he is. Lucas admits he’s not doing good as it’s getting to him and he’s falling apart, he’s lonely, and he just had a run in with Orpheus to top it off.

Nick questions Kate wanting to speak with the Devil which Kate confirms. Kayla thinks it’s a great idea. Marlena doesn’t think it’s too much to ask to have the Devil come. Kate warns that unless they speak with the Devil, they are going nowhere.

Julie tells Chad that Doug is making lunch for them in the kitchen. Julie adds that she hopes he does find happiness because he deserves it as she then heads back to the kitchen. Chad sits down with the photo album and says he knows Abigail said she only cared that he and the kids were happy and that she wanted him to move on. Chad wishes there was some way he could know that she was actually okay with it. Chad hears Julie’s laughter from the kitchen and smiles. Chad talks about how he and Abigail used to imagine being like Doug and Julie and able to look back at a lifetime shared together. Chad knows how much Abigail loved Stephanie. Chad admits that Stephanie makes him and the kids happy. Chad declares that for the first time since he lost Abigail, he’s able to look forward to the future. Chad adds that as wonderful as that future may be, there’s always going to be a part that’s missing no matter who comes in to his life because no one will ever replace Abigail.

Stephanie is sure Alex doesn’t want to hear that she wants to be his friend, but she doesn’t want him to think that she hates him because she doesn’t. Alex says he’s glad and that they had a good time together. Alex repeats that he’s sorry about her mother and everything. Stephanie thanks him and then exits the office.

Steve gets some beers for he and John. Steve asks what’s on John’s mind and if he’s having second thoughts. John says not about Orpheus, but about Roman. John points out that Roman wasn’t on board at first but now he’s the one at the prison. Steve says Roman is less compromised than they are. John states that it’s not easy living with blood on your hands. Steve points out that Roman made his own decision and with any luck, Lucas will make the same one.

Roman questions Lucas about seeing Orpheus. Lucas explains that Orpheus was trying to push alcohol on him but he didn’t accept. Lucas gives Roman the whiskey and tells him to get rid of it. Roman asks what Orpheus was trying to accomplish. Lucas says that Orpheus was trying to ruin his life by getting him to fall off the wagon, but he was not going to give him the satisfaction. Roman then suggests it wouldn’t be such a bad idea if he did.

Marlena asks Nick if they are going to stand here or if he’s going to take their request to the Devil. Kayla tells Nick to make the call. Nick says they are just delaying the inevitable but he will relay their request. Nick then offers them food and guarantees that things are about to get a lot more unpleasant…

In the town square, Sarah questions if Xander really slept with Gwen, which he confirms. Sarah argues that the ink on their divorce papers isn’t even dry yet. Xander tells Sarah that what he does now is officially none of her business and he doesn’t want her putting Gwen down. Sarah mocks him defending his girlfriend’s honor. Xander points out that Sarah couldn’t wait to get rid of a criminal like him, so he questions why she cares how he spends his nights.

John sits alone in the Brady Pub and sees a couple at the table nearby that causes him to have a flashback of being there with Marlena.

In the afterlife, Devil Susan brings Marlena breakfast but Marlena complains that she doesn’t want breakfast, she wants information and demands to know where Kayla is.

Kayla bangs on the gates of Heaven, complaining that she’s been dead for weeks and nobody has come for her. Kayla listens against the gate and hears Kate’s voice.

Kate descends a flight of stairs, wondering where she is. She finds “Jordan Ridgeway”, who welcomes her to Purgatory.

Roman approaches John at the Pub and asks if he got any sleep last night. John says maybe a couple hours and asks about him. Roman thinks he’s sleeping a little better. Roman asks if John wants his regular order. John says he’ll just have coffee. Roman points out that this is a long way to come for just coffee. John informs Roman that he got a text from Steve, wanting to talk, so he’s assuming it’s about funeral arrangements. Roman thinks as difficult as that’s going to be, once they get through it, maybe it just might be a little easier to keep going. John hopes he’s right about that because without Marlena by his side, he doesn’t think anything will be easy again.

Marlena insists on needing to find Kayla and asks Susan to check the list again. Susan claims to find Kayla’s name this time and says that’s great because now she’s in the good place just like Marlena is.

Kayla continues trying to listen behind the gates.

Kate can’t believe she’s seeing Jordan. Jordan says it’s been a long time and they have so much catching up to do. Kate guesses this means she died and went straight to Hell.

Kayla tries to get through to Kate and calls for anybody to get her the Hell out of here. “Adrienne Kiriakis” then appears behind her and says they don’t usually cuss up here. Adrienne says she was surprised when she heard Kayla was there. Kayla can’t believe it’s really Adrienne and hugs her.

Sarah feels like she didn’t even know Xander. Xander remarks that he’s just a lying, kidnapping thug. Sarah asks if he denies traumatizing Bonnie or being part of the reason that Susan is dead. Sarah adds that she shouldn’t be surprised that he slept with someone else on the night that their marriage ended, but questions if it had to be Gwen of all the women in the world.

Marlena eats the breakfast she was brought and says she’s relieved that Kayla is going to be there with her. “Susan” tells Marlena not to worry about Kayla as she’s about to meet a familiar face right about now.

Kayla tells “Adrienne” that they have all missed her so much and she wishes Steve, Justin, and the kids could see her. Adrienne knows her passing was a tremendous shock to them. Kayla says she just keeps thinking about her family and what they must be going through. Kayla adds that she assumed people in Heaven didn’t have a care in the world, but she is so worried about Steve and how much pain he must be in. Adrienne assures that Steve will be okay with a little help from his friends.

Steve arrives at the Brady Pub and tells the couple inside that they have to leave because the Pub has been booked for a private event. He tells them that he will pay their bill and that they can have breakfast on Roman tomorrow, so the couple exits. Roman comes over and asks what the hell that was all about. John guesses this meeting is not about funeral arrangements which Steve confirms. Roman asks what’s going on. Steve responds that they have a new case which Roman questions. Steve adds that it needs to be top secret.

Kate asks if her punishment for a lifetime of sin is being stuck in Hell with Jordan. Jordan calls her self-centered as ever and explains that they are not in Hell, but they are somewhere in between Heaven and Hell. Kate asks how long she has to be here before being upgraded. Jordan explains that the souls who end up here must be judged to see if they are worthy of moving forward or if they must descend the eternal stairway. Kate asks who will judge her case. Jordan reveals that will be her.

“Susan” assures Marlena that Kayla is in very good hands. Marlena then asks what about Kate and if she made it here as well. Susan guesses anything is possible. Marlena asks her to check the list again. Susan says this is her last look that she can do for her. She claims to find Kate’s name so Marlena is excited that Kate made it to Heaven, but Susan says not exactly.

Kate questions her eternal fate being in Jordan’s hands and doesn’t see how that’s fair since Jordan hated her guts while they were alive. Jordan argues that she had good reason and calls her a miserable human being that was so jealous of her relationship with Rafe, that she went behind her back to sabotage her. Kate argues that she’s holding a grudge. Jordan says this is hatred. Kate claims that she was just curious about her and did some digging while Jordan complains that she found Clyde Weston and told him where she was hiding. Kate points out that she didn’t know what Clyde had done to her. Jordan declares that Kate ruined her life and now it’s finally coming back to haunt her.

Sarah tells Xander that if he wanted to hurt her, he succeeded by sleeping with the heartless bitch who left her wasting away on Kristen’s private island. Sarah asks if Gwen is sick of hearing about all the awful things she did to her and the people she loves. Sarah reminds Xander that Gwen worked overtime to convince him that she didn’t love him anymore, while she was stuck in Kristen’s mansion. Xander confirms that he remembers. Sarah reminds Xander about Gwen giving her a second dose of a drug that could have left her permanently brain damaged. Gwen points out that it didn’t though. Sarah calls Gwen a sadistic, amoral witch. Sarah says that if Xander was looking for a way to really get back at her for divorcing him, he did it.

Adrienne encourages Kayla not to worry since Steve has a great support system with John, Roman, and their kids. Kayla argues that they are all grieving too, so they need Steve. Kayla feels she’s the only one who really knows Steve and when he’s in this kind of pain, he can really go to a dark place…

Roman is flattered that Steve is willing to tell him details of this top level Black Patch case but says that he stopped playing cops and robbers and runs a business now while Steve is costing him paying customers. Steve offers him money but Roman tells him to keep his money. John asks Steve about the case. Steve reveals that the client is himself. Steve explains that he’s been thinking about what’s going to keep him going, now that he’s lost Kayla, and it came to him in the middle of the night. Steve then declares that the three of them are going to kill Orpheus.

Kayla reminds Adrienne of when she first met Steve and how all he thought about was how to get back at people who crossed him. Kayla worries it’s going to flare up again now that she’s not there to talk him down. Kayla is worried about what kind of trouble Steve will get in to now.

Roman questions Steve wanting them to commit murder. Steve says it would be best for humanity to put Orpheus down. Roman reminds Steve that he’s a retired police commissioner so he shouldn’t be hearing this since he took an oath. Steve asks where that oath got Kate and what about the vows they made to their wives to protect them. Steve states that he can’t live with the way they died because they failed them. Roman points out that there’s a chance that Orpheus could end up on Death Row, so he doesn’t have to go rogue and leave it up to the system. Steve questions leaving Orpheus up to Melinda Trask. Steve declares that they are the ones that Orpheus was after so they should be the ones to end him.

Gwen tells Sarah that the Hortons have no problem looking down on them and judging, but they have no problem looking the other way when it suits them. Gwen argues that Sarah had no problem being with Xander. Sarah says she thought that he wanted to change. Gwen points out that Xander didn’t want to work for Ava or kidnap Susan, but he did it for the money to support Sarah. Xander interrupts and tells her that’s enough. Sarah responds that it explains everything because Gwen would think kidnapping for hire is a perfectly acceptable way to make a living, even if one of the victims dies.

Jordan asks Kate for one reason why she shouldn’t send her soul straight to the bad place. Kate asks about Jordan’s soul, questioning that Jordan can’t find it in her heart to forgive an innocent mistake. Jordan complains about everything Clyde did and calls that a tragic, indefensible mistake. Kate asks if Jordan is blaming her for Abigail’s death. Jordan points out that if Kate never brought Clyde to town, Abigail would still be alive and her children would still have a mother. Kate argues that Clyde never would’ve stopped looking for his son and would’ve found them eventually. Kate adds that she thought Jordan was hiding something but when she found out that Clyde abused her, she felt horrible. Jordan points out that Kate did nothing. Kate admits she didn’t act quickly enough and should’ve washed her hands of Clyde completely. Kate says she’s sorry for that. Jordan argues that she’s sorry now that she has her soul in her hands. Kate gets that it’s too little, too late, but insists that it is a sincere apology. Kate says that Jordan went on and on about her transgressions but turns a blind eye to the plusses of her record. Jordan tells her to indulge her with that. Kate points out that she always tried to be the best mother that she could and was there for her children, no matter what. Kate brings up Roman and how he found it in his heart to forgive her and love her and she found great happiness living with him in their apartment over the Pub. Kate asks if Jordan thinks she could possibly have a soul that could be saved. Kate knows Jordan has legitimate grievances against her, but insists that she has changed because Roman brought out a better side in her. Kate says she was less selfish, more compassionate, and kinder. Jordan admits that Kate makes a compelling argument, but says she’s going to need proof. Kate asks what she has to do. Jordan tells her that she can sign a document, confirming her genuine attrition which Kate agrees to. Jordan warns that if Kate is lying, the document will burst in to flames immediately and she will be doomed for all eternity. Kate insists that she can sign it. Jordan then offers her the paper to sign, saying that every word she said to her was the God’s honest truth. Kate signs it and hands it back, pointing out that there are no flames. Jordan guesses that she does believe Kate feels sorry for ruining her life and that she was on a path to being a batter person. Kate thanks Jordan for coming around and asks if they can fast track her transfer to Heaven. Jordan says not so fast and points out that the decision is beyond her pay grade. Kate thought she was her judge. Jordan says that she is and she recommends that Kate moves forward to the next level. Kate asks if that means she never has to see her ever again. Jordan confirms that and tells Kate that she may now advance to the next rung. Kate calls this so great and thanks her for making her day. Kate calls Jordan an angel and hugs her.

Marlena hopes Kate’s judge is fair and unbiased. Susan responds that everybody here is, encouraging that Kayla and Kate will make their own spiritual journey. Susan tells Marlena to start thinking about how she wants to spend eternity. Marlena responds that she would like to see the people she has lost like her baby DJ, her twin sister Samantha, Tom and Alice Horton, and Shawn and Caroline Brady. Susan says all in due time, but first she needs to sign her release paper to advance her to the next level of Heaven. Susan gives Marlena the paper to sign, which she does.

Adrienne hates to think of Kayla stressing so much over Steve. Kayla asks how could she not when he’s her husband and the love of her life. Adrienne points out that her life is here now in paradise. Adrienne offers Kayla a paper to sign which she says is her way out of this room and in to the afterlife. Kayla questions what it is. Adrienne calls it a formality, stating that she relinquishes her earthly life and pledges her immortal soul to God. Kayla asks if she can have a lawyer look at it but Adrienne says they don’t get many of those. Adrienne encourages Kayla to just trust her so Kayla signs the paper.

Roman asks Steve if this is about payback. Steve says it’s about protecting their families. Steve respects Roman for living by his code but the problem is, it makes him predictable to Orpheus because he only understands one form of justice; an eye for an eye and he will never stop making them pay for his wife’s death. Steve calls it just a game to Orpheus. Roman knows the justice system isn’t perfect but he still believes in it, so he can’t ask him to take the law in to his own hands. Roman asks John to talk some sense in to Steve, but John reveals that he agrees with Steve in wanting to get Orpheus. Roman questions John going along with this, arguing that he can’t believe killing Orpheus is the answer here. John informs Roman that there’s something he doesn’t know. John explains that when Orpheus was first released from prison, he met Steve here and Steve said he wanted to take out Orpheus before he hurt or killed anyone, but he talked him out of it. John points out that if he hadn’t done that, they’d probably be having breakfast with their beautiful wives right now, so he’s siding with Steve.

Adrienne tells Kayla that her destiny is waiting for her. Kayla asks if she’s not coming with her. Adrienne says she has to take this next step on her own, but promises they will have plenty of time together. Kayla says spending time with her warmed her heart as they hug. Adrienne then sends Kayla through the gates. Afterwards, Adrienne is revealed to be possessed by The Devil, who remarks that Kayla is so gullible.

Marlena asks Devil Susan what is next. Susan says she will take it upstairs and then she will come back to introduce her to her heavenly host. After Susan walks away, Kayla finds Marlena. Marlena hugs her and says she’s glad to see her. Kayla questions what Marlena is doing there. Marlena explains that she succumbed to the virus just like her and Kate. Kayla says she prayed they would find an antidote to save her in time. Marlena says it’s okay as she is where she’s supposed to be. Kayla then hugs Marlena.

Kate thanks Jordan for not holding her back as Jordan then sends Kate up the stairs. Jordan is then revealed to be possessed by the Devil as well.

Xander asks Sarah if she’s said what she wanted to say. Sarah doesn’t think they ever need to say another word to each other. Sarah declares that once Justin files their divorce papers, Xander and Gwen will be free to do what they do best; bring misery. Sarah says God help this town and walks away.

Kate joins Kayla and Marlena, surprised to see they are there too. Kate asks where they are. Marlena is relieved to see Kate made it to the good place since she was worried about her. Kate responds that weirdly, Jordan took it easy on her since the fate of her eternal soul was in the hands of Jordan Ridgeway.

Gwen tells Xander that she knows what she said to Sarah was a bit harsh, but she couldn’t take her gonig after them like that. Xander understands that Gwen was only reacting to Sarah lashing out and provoking her. Gwen calls it new for Xander to take up for her like this, especially with Sarah. Xander points out that Gwen had his back through the whole kidnapping and he knows what she gave up. They both say they don’t regret a thing. Xander declares that for the first time in ages, it feels good as he’s sick of apologizing for who he is. Gwen agrees and asks why they should have to go around town holding their hats to people like Jack and Sarah. Xander adds that they assume the worst of them, regardless of what they do. Xander suggests they prove them right and take the good people of Salem for everything they can get.

Sarah stops in the park and breaks down crying as she looks at a photo of her and Xander on her phone.

Steve tells Roman that he heard what he said before, so they can do this without him like this conversation never happened. Roman says no and that if they are going to do this, it has to be all or nothing. Roman says he’s in and declares they will make sure that Orpheus never hurts another living soul. Roman, Steve, and John all put their hands in together.

Kayla tells Kate and Marlena about how she was locked in a room. Kate comments that it doesn’t sound very heavenly. “Susan” returns as they talk about the papers they signed. Susan reveals there’s been some confusion as that wasn’t Jordan or Adrienne with them which they question. “Susan” then reveals not to be Susan either and removes their disguise.

Xander has a dream about getting back together with Sarah, but then he wakes up in bed with Gwen, who asks if everything is alright.

Chanel wakes up at Paulina’s apartment. Paulina offers her breakfast and says she’s going to need it for the grilling she’s about to give her which Chanel questions. Paulina says that Chanel was too upset to talk last night, so she gave her space. Paulina says Chanel is going to eat and then she’s going to tell her exactly what’s going on between her and Allie.

Allie and Alex get up at Allie’s apartment while Wendy sleeps on the couch. Allie and Alex complain of being hungover. Allie says she’s sorry that his underwear went missing and she’ll text him if she finds them. Alex tells her not to worry about and adds that maybe all that drinking last night wasn’t the best idea, but he’s really glad they got to hang out. Alex then exits. Allie turns around as Wendy is now sitting up. Wendy remarks that it sounds like Allie and Alex had quite the night.

Steve gets up at home. Tripp offers him breakfast but Steve says he’ll wait for Joey and Stephanie to get up. Tripp informs him that Joey just went for a run and guesses that Stephanie is sleeping in.

Stephanie wakes up in bed with Chad and asks if he has a look of regret.

Steve tells Tripp that he’s glad Stephanie is sleeping in since she’s been pretty ragged lately. Steve mentions having a talk with her last night and how she’s having a really hard time with not being there when Kayla passed away. Steve notices flowers which Tripp says he found at the door. Steve picks up the card and remarks that they are from that jerk Alex. Tripp can’t believe Alex thinks flowers are going to fix things after Alex played God with Stephanie’s life. Steve comments that at least now Stephanie knows what a self centered creep Alex is. Tripp hopes that Stephanie does better next time around.

Chad reminds Stephanie that he’s the one who showed up and asked if she was still interested. Stephanie asks if this was too soon for him but Chad assures that last night was amazing. Chad admits it’s just strange to wake up next to someone who is not Abigail. Stephanie understands it’s been a long time since he has but Chad informs her that it’s not as long as she thinks.

Xander tells Gwen that everything is fine but Gwen says he doesn’t look like it. Xander says he’s just a bit hungover. Gwen comments on him tossing and turning, like he was having an intense dream. Xander claims not to remember anything about it. Gwen points out that he was mumbling something about signing papers. Xander tries to blow it off but Gwen asks if he was dreaming about Sarah. Xander then admits that he was.

Chanel tells Paulina about the situation with Allie walking in on her with Johnny. Chanel insists that nothing happened and that Johnny was just in pain. Paulina argues that Allie was in pain too. Chanel says she would have been there for Allie, but she sent her away and then she was with Alex. Paulina argues that she only cares about Chanel’s behavior. Chanel questions her not believing her. Chanel states that Johnny was her husband and she loved him, so she still cares about him very much. Chanel argues that Johnny was just lost and needed someone to talk to. Paulina argues that’s not the whole story. Chanel questions what that means. Paulina says that’s how this mess got started but she doesn’t know how it would’ve ended if Allie hadn’t have walked in on them.

Wendy and Allie have coffee. Allie tells Wendy that her and Alex went out drinking last night and they were in no shape to drive home, so he crashed in the office here and nothing happened. Wendy states that it’s none of her business, but questions how Alex lost his underwear if nothing happened. Allie says she doesn’t know what happened since they were sleeping in separate rooms and assures that Alex slept alone. Wendy apologizes, repeating it’s none of her business. Allie assures that she wasn’t sneaking him out and they were only being quiet to try not to wake her. Wendy then asks if Chanel is still asleep. Allie responds that she doesn’t know because Chanel moved out.

Chanel questions why Paulina is asking her what would’ve happened. Chanel complains that she’s feeling pretty shoved around right now. Chanel complains about how Allie judged her and Johnny and wouldn’t even give them a chance to say anything. Chanel questions why it feels like Paulina is taking Allie’s side against her. Paulina talks about how Allie was fiercely on Chanel’s side when she was facing murder charges. Chanel insists that she loves Allie, so Paulina asks why Chanel keeps pushing back when she tries to make her see how much she hurt her.

Chad tells Stephanie about how he cheated on Abigail with Gwen and he has no excuse for that. Stephanie acknowledges that it must have been horrible, but they got past it. Chad has no idea how Abigail forgave her. Stephanie suggests it was how much they loved each other. Chad says this morning he was thinking about how sleeping with Gwen was a mistake, while this is not a mistake. Chad hopes the same is true for her since it wasn’t that long ago that Alex hurt her. Chad knows everything has been sudden, so he hopes his timing wasn’t off.

Alex enters the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and greets Sarah. Alex talks about how he was trying to forget last night but it didn’t work. Sarah tells him to sit because misery loves company.

Gwen asks Xander if his dream was reliving Sarah dumping him. Xander explains that he dreamt that Sarah showed up and said she made a terrible mistake and tore up the divorce papers. Xander assures that it was a dream as Sarah made it crystal clear last night that they are done and Gwen wouldn’t be here otherwise. Gwen asks why she is here then, if he’s over Sarah. Gwen asks why he slept with her and if it was a drunken mistake.

Allie tells Wendy that Chanel went to stay with her mother for awhile. Wendy knew they were fighting after she left yesterday but she didn’t know it was that bad. Allie assures that it was. Wendy asks if they are just on a break. Allie admits she doesn’t know since Chanel left pretty abruptly and they didn’t negotiate terms. Allie says she just wants Chanel to own up to what happened with Johnny so that it doesn’t happen again. Wendy responds that she wouldn’t mind that herself. Allie asks if Johnny found her after she ran out yesterday and says she’s sorry she had to find out like that. Wendy says it’s not her fault since she didn’t know she was there. Allie asks if she really screwed things up between Wendy and Johnny.

Steve complains to Tripp about having to text Roman about Kayla’s funeral arrangements. Tripp offers to do things like that if he needs him to. Tripp then gets a call. Tripp says they can talk about it when he gets there and hangs up. Steve asks what that was about. Tripp claims it was nothing but Steve asks if he’s going to see Ava at Bayview. Tripp admits that he is. Steve asks if they said how she’s doing. Tripp says that there’s no change. Tripp adds that Ava is the last thing Steve needs to worry about after everything she did to Kayla. Steve states that Tripp is his son and his mom matters to him, so she matters to him as well. Steve tells Tripp that the new rule is no more secrets in this house.

Chad and Stephanie kiss in bed. Stephanie hopes that takes away any doubts he has about his timing or regrets. Stephanie understands why he asked though since she has on the rebound, technically. Stephanie says Alex may not have meant to do what he did, but she knew he was arrogant, entitled, and self-absorbed from the start. Stephanie tells Chad that they can take things slowly if they decide that’s what is best for them. Stephanie adds that Chad can put Alex out of his mind because she has.

Alex tells Sarah about how he got flowers and wrote a letter for Stephanie, but by the time he got there, Chad had already slithered his way in and it was quite obvious that Stephanie had moved on. Alex adds that he left his flowers and letter at the door and guesses that they are in the trash now. Sarah states that Alex really messed up and Stephanie has every right to hate his guts. Alex says that all the liquor in Salem is not going to help him forget that. Alex adds that the difference with Sarah and Xander is that they’ve always found a way to get past it. Sarah says not this time and shows him the divorce papers. Sarah declares that once they are filed, she and Xander are over for good.

Xander tells Gwen that last night probably was a mistake on her part because she slept with a drunken, messed up loser, while he slept with someone who gave up her job, home, and father for him. Xander adds that Gwen stood by him when no one else did and kept him company during one of the worst nights of his life. Xander declares that Gwen has given him so much, but he’s not sure what he can offer in return. Xander admits that he’s not over Sarah and doesn’t know if he ever will be. Gwen tells him not to worry as she didn’t expect anything to come out of this. Xander brings up Gwen telling him that she loved him. Gwen says that’s her problem. Xander brings up Jack making her choose. Gwen says she doesn’t like ultimatums. Xander talks about what Gwen gave up for him. Gwen points out that he didn’t ask her to or even know about it, as it was her choice and decision, so she doesn’t expect a thing from him in return. Gwen adds that if Xander wants to pretend like last night didn’t happen, that’s fine by her.

Chanel remarks that she should’ve known Paulina would be like this. Paulina argues that Chanel knows she doesn’t need sympathy and hugs but a place to figure out what just happened. Chanel talks about never seeing Allie like this. Paulina calls it grief and until you go through it, you have no idea how strong it is. Paulina says Allie treated her unfair and she loves her so much that it hurts but she’s the one who has to get over it. Chanel talks about Allie not knowing if her mother will be at the funeral, her father is in prison, while she can’t even be in the same room as Johnny. Chanel cries that Allie has no one, but Paulina encourages that Allie has her and hugs her.

Wendy doesn’t think Allie needs to be worried about her and Johnny. Wendy adds that Johnny told her that what happened at the hospital with Chanel was just a weird moment as she is the one he is interested in. Wendy talks about what Allie and Johnny are going through. Allie argues that going after Chanel is not out of character for Johnny. Allie warns Wendy that Johnny has always had trouble with boundaries and impulse control with women. Allie notes that Johnny was so upset that Chanel chose her and he wasted no time bouncing back with Tripp’s mother. Wendy brings up how Johnny acknowledged that was a mistake. Allie points out that as soon as he realized that, he went back to going after Chanel. Allie warns Wendy that she’s not telling her to find somebody else, but that she should at least see who else is out there.

Steve tells Tripp that he hopes visiting Ava goes better than the last time as they hug. Tripp then exits the house. Stephanie comes out from her room, followed by Chad as they greet Steve. Chad decides to leave them to it and tells Stephanie he will call her. Steve instead invites Chad to stay for breakfast. Afterwards, Chad tells Stephanie to call if there’s anything he can do. Chad thanks Steve for the eggs. Chad tells Stephanie that he’ll see her soon and to call him if she wants to talk. Chad tells Steve that he’s sorry about Kayla as everybody loved her. Steve thanks him as Chad then exits. Stephanie apologizes to Steve. Steve says it is her house too. Stephanie doesn’t think he needed a surprise this morning and that wasn’t planned. Steve jokes that he remembers how those things can happen spontaneously. Steve then points out the flowers and card for her from Alex.

Alex asks Sarah if she has a cure for a hangover. Sarah jokes that it’s not getting drunk in the first place. Sarah suggests some fresh air and offers to walk him out. Alex tells her that he’s really sorry about her and Xander. Sarah says that makes one of them as she walks out of the mansion.

Xander tells Gwen that he doesn’t want to pretend last night didn’t happen. Gwen says even if he doesn’t love her. Xander says he cares about her and he knows what she gave up to protect him, so he offers her a place to stay. Gwen tells him it’s alright as Leo offered to share a room with her at the Salem Inn, so she will be out of his way soon. Xander tells her that she’s not in his way and suggests she stay. Xander offers to take her out for breakfast but then remembers he spent the last of his money on scotch. Xander says he’ll get her next time. Xander tells her not to go anywhere, so they can talk because they need to figure this out. Xander then goes to the bathroom to get dressed. Gwen mutters that somehow, she doesn’t think there’s going to be a next time…

Chanel goes to Allie’s apartment.

Wendy finds Tripp sitting alone in the park. She asks if he’s okay and if it’s about his mother. Tripp confirms that he just came from seeing her and she wasn’t as manic this time, but somehow she was worse and just catatonic like he wasn’t even there, like there was nothing inside. Wendy then hugs Tripp.

Chanel and Allie awkwardly greet each other. Allie asks what she’s doing here. Chanel responds that she lives here, but she knows what she meant. Chanel tells Allie that she’s sorry and she knows she hurt her and she misses her. Allie admits she misses her too. Chanel asks if she’s okay. Allie admits that she’s hungover as she and Alex went out drinking last night. Chanel says that makes sense considering everything she’s going through. Allie says Chanel is here because she hurt her, but Allie thought Chanel left because she hurt her. Chanel responds that she’s been thinking and admits she was hurt but that kept her from seeing how much she had hurt Allie. Chanel adds that she kept making things worse by telling Allie that she was overreacting and it’s not her place to tell her how to feel. Allie asks if she really means that. Allie says she’s sorry too and they hug. Chanel says they screwed up and it happens. Allie says that when she saw Chanel and Johnny together, she just got crazy. Chanel then questions if that’s what she calls it, as she spots Alex’s underwear on the couch and asks if they belong to Alex.

Alex walks past the Brady Pub and runs in to Chad. Alex notes that they haven’t had a chance to talk since what happened. Chad calls it unfortunate. Alex says it is unfortunate for him, but not for Chad.

Steve asks Stephanie if she wants some privacy. Stephanie says there’s no need as she then trashes Alex’s letter and the flowers.

Xander and Gwen walked through the town square. Xander says he’s found just enough money to get them breakfast from the Bakery. Xander goes to the bakery while Gwen questions how desperate she is. Gwen then turns around and runs into Sarah.

Wendy tells Tripp that no one should have to go through what he’s going through. Tripp feels that way about Ava. Wendy brings up Kayla’s funeral being soon. Wendy notes that she would like to say goodbye before he goes back to Seattle. Tripp reveals he’s not going back right away as he doesn’t think he can leave with everything going on with Ava. Wendy says the reason sucks, but it will be nice to have him around.

Stephanie gathers her things and goes to leave the house but stops and retrieves Alex’s letter from the trash and opens it to read it.

Chad asks Alex if he has a problem with him. Alex responds that he’s just more up to speed than he thinks, as he saw him last night with Stephanie. Alex reveals that he came to drop something off. Chad remembers the door being left open. Alex guesses that slipped his mind in the heat of the moment and now he’s wearing the same clothes as last night, so he guesses Chad spent the night. Chad confirms that he did. Alex guesses there’s nothing left to say then, except that Chad is a lucky man. Alex then walks away.

Allie confirms to Chanel that the underwear is Alex’s. Chanel questions if he’s still there. Allie says no while Chanel questions him leaving those behind. Allie explains that they got really drunk last night and he just crashed there in the office. Chanel questions where she slept. Allie assures that she slept in her bed. Chanel asks how she ended up with his underwear then. Allie insists that nothing happened. Chanel questions just taking her word for it and if she’s supposed to trust her like she did with her and Johnny. Chanel declares that she’s going back to her mother’s as she never should’ve left and storms out of the apartment.

Gwen tells Sarah that she heard about her divorce and she’s sorry. Sarah says she’s not and that she’s trying her hardest not to do a happy dance while waiting to worm her way back in to Xander’s bed. Gwen responds that she didn’t have to worm her way because Xander invited her which Sarah questions. Gwen informs Sarah that she just came from there. Sarah asks if Gwen and Xander slept together last night and says she doesn’t believe it. Xander comes back from the bakery and tells Sarah to believe it, except there wasn’t much sleeping going on.

Gwen goes to Xander’s motel room where Xander immediately grabs her and kisses her. Xander brings her inside, then stops and tells her to take her top off because he needs to be sure she’s not wearing a wire.

Alex walks through the town square with flowers and runs in to Allie. Allie asks if he’s going to see Stephanie and if they are back on track. Alex says they aren’t, but he hopes so by the end of the night.

Chad shows up at Stephanie’s door and asks if it’s a bad time. Stephanie says that her dad just left, so his timing is fine. Chad hopes she still thinks that after he tells her why he came. Stephanie notes that he sounds serious. Chad informs her that he and Jack just had a long talk and he had some advice about them.

Anna is at the DiMera Mansion, writing a eulogy for Marlena’s funeral. Chloe walks in and greets her. Chloe says she’s here to see Stefan and asks if she’s seen him around. Anna says she hasn’t, but she’s sure he must be there somewhere.

Gabi frantically checks on Stefan and makes sure that he’s still alive, asking if he can hear her. Stefan regains consciousness and says Gabi’s name. Gabi asks if he’s alright. Stefan questions where the hell they are and why he’s tied up. Gabi questions him not remembering why he’s there. Gabi asks what Dr. Rolf has done as he was supposed to bring his memories back, not take them away.

Anna asks Chloe about her and Stefan as she heard they had gotten involved. Chloe confirms they definitely were. Anna is happy for them and asks if it’s serious, then apologizes for prying. Chloe informs her that they were serious, but circumstances have changed, so she’s actually hear to tell Stefan that she doesn’t think they should see each other anymore.

Stefan asks what his memories have to do with this. Gabi questions what Dr. Rolf did. Dr. Rolf responds that he did what was asked of him and it’s not his fault that he didn’t have access to better equipment. Stefan still doesn’t get it. Gabi tells Stefan to see what she means to him and that’s why he’s in his basement, to undo what Dr. Rolf did to him and that there’s no side effects. Gabi tells Stefan that she loves him so much and asks if he understands.

Allie questions Alex planning on just going to Stephanie’s without a text or call. Alex says there’s no point since she’s been ignoring him. Allie questions what makes him think that Stephanie will agree to actually seeing him. Alex informs her that he just spoke to Paulina and told her everything. Allie bets Paulina had a lot to say about that which Alex confirms. Alex adds that Paulina also shared about mistakes she had made and how Lani forgave her for giving her up. Alex says it gave him hope that maybe he could be forgiven for the awful things he has done. Alex adds that Paulina told him that he needed to apologize to Stephanie the right way in person, so he has flowers and an apology letter. Allie guesses he thought of everything. Alex hopes it’s not too late to make this happen.

Stephanie asks Chad about Jack giving him advice about them as she’s not sure she understands. Chad apologizes for blurting it out that way and admits he’s a little nervous. Chad decides he won’t say what he rehearsed and will just shoot from the hip and say what he’s thinking off the top of his head. Chad knows he told Stephanie that he didn’t know if or when he would be ready to move on from Abigail and that it would probably be never, but he’s hoping now that they can have a future anyway.

Gwen questions what Xander is talking about. Xander informs her that Leo was there to give him a heads up that he’s going to cut a deal to testify to the grand jury that he kidnapped Susan and Bonnie, so he warned him that if he did, it would be his last act on earth. Gwen asks what that has to do with her. Xander questions it being a coincidence that she shows up after Leo and asks if she’s here to finish what he started by getting Melinda what she needs to send him down the river. Xander says he can picture Gwen, Leo, and Melinda setting him up to take the fall because he’s a loser. Gwen then slaps Xander.

Sarah enters the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and finds Bonnie, who is trying to write her speech for Kayla’s funeral but she can’t seem to find the right words. Sarah encourages her and calls it a tragedy she still can’t believe that Kayla is gone. Bonnie asks if Sarah will speak at the funeral too but Sarah reveals that the papers she’s holding are divorce papers as she and Xander are done.

Xander can’t believe Gwen just slapped him while Gwen can’t believe he accused her of wearing a wire. Gwen argues that just a couple weeks ago, he told her to save herself and testify against him. Xander argues that he was drunk then while Gwen points out that he’s drunk now. Xander feels she can’t blame him for being suspicious as he’s always having to look over his shoulder. Gwen argues that he should know by now that she is the last person he needs to worry about. Gwen says she came to reassure him that he doesn’t need to worry about her cooperating with the police and if he doesn’t believe her, he can ask Jack. Xander questions what Jack has to do with this. Gwen then reveals that Jack gave her an ultimatum of going to Rafe and cooperating with Melinda or risk Jack cutting her out of his life for good, so she was forced to choose one. Gwen informs Xander that she chose him.

Alex tells Allie that he knows flowers and an apology letter won’t turn everything around but it’s a start. Alex asks if she thinks he has a chance or if he’s just deluding himself. Allie says if she were Stephanie, she would definitely consider forgiving him. Allie thinks Stephanie knows deep down that Alex is too good to give up. Alex thanks her and says he’s sure Chanel knows the same about her. Allie appreciates Alex always being in their corner, but she doesn’t think Chanel knows that about her. Alex asks what she’s talking about and what happened. Allie explains that they tried to talk but it didn’t go well, so they are on a break and Chanel moved out. Alex can’t believe it and urges Allie to call Chanel and get her over now. Alex decides he will be their couples therapist so he might be able to help. Allie loves him for wanting to help but says this is between her and Chanel. Alex understands and just hates to see her going through this as they seemed so good together. Allie says they were for awhile and then urges Alex to go see Stephanie with the flowers and his letter. Alex thanks her and walks away.

Stephanie brings up that Chad just recently told her that he couldn’t even think of getting involved with somebody until he worked through his grief. Chad says that was before his talk with Jack. Chad mentions telling her that he felt it would be unfair to get involved with her because of his feelings for Abigail and his inability to move on. Chad acknowledges that he will never get over Abigail as she will always be in his heart and he will always see her in their kids. Chad adds that Jack said something that was very simple and insightful; that he can’t let that hold him back because it will never be the right time as he will never stop missing Abigail. Chad repeats that he will never get over Abigail, so he has to learn to live with those feelings as he goes forward. Chad realizes he doesn’t want to wait because he knows he might miss out on something really great.

Anna asks Chloe if something happened between her and Stefan. Chloe says that Stefan wants to give them a chance at being together, but she just doesn’t know if he truly knows what he wants. A phone rings which they acknowledge is neither of their phone. Anna finds that it’s the landline and answers the call which is from Statesville Prison. Anna accepts the call and it’s from Vivian Alamain. Anna questions why she is calling.

Stefan asks Gabi about bringing him here to have Dr. Rolf work on him. Gabi asks what Stefan feels right now. Stefan responds that he feels like he loves Gabi with all his heart.

Xander questions Gwen choosing to protect him over her relationship with her father and asks if she’s crazy since Jack means the world to her. Gwen cries that Xander does too as she loves him. Gwen brings up all she has done for Xander with no hope of it ever amounting to anything because he’s in love with Sarah and she knows that Sarah will eventually forgive him, and they will pick up where they left off while she will be left with heartbreak for her troubles but says that’s fine as she’s still happy that she did it and would do it again because that’s how much she cares about him. Xander questions her thinking that he and Sarah will patch things up. Gwen says if history is any indication but Xander reveals that they just signed the divorce papers.

Bonnie tells Sarah that she’s not buying that she and Xander are done as she expects Xander to be thanking her for convincing Sarah to give him another chance. Sarah tells her that will never happen because she went to see Xander and walked in on her and Gwen, both soaking wet and she was wearing his shirt. Sarah says that Xander swore nothing would ever happen between them but that’s not even the reason they can’t be together. Sarah declares that they are just too incompatible. Sarah admits that Xander’s bad boy image was part of what attracted her to him, but that was because it was fun and exciting while now it’s scary and unsettling and she can’t handle it anymore. Sarah states that Justin drew up the divorce papers and got Xander to sign them, so once she signs them, it will be over for good. Bonnie says when Hell freezes over and grabs the papers away from Sarah.

Stephanie questions Chad thinking they could have something great. Chad guesses this was a mistake. Stephanie reminds him that he recently told her that he wasn’t ready and it was too soon which is why she gave in to Alex, who was relentless about them getting together, but now he’s telling her that she didn’t have to. Stephanie declares that it could’ve been her and Chad all this time, if only he had known but he didn’t and all of this just suddenly hit him tonight. Stephanie then tells Chad thank God that he didn’t wait another minute. Stephanie suddenly kisses Chad. Alex then arrives and opens the door to see them kissing.

Vivian tries to explain things to Anna, who is confused. Anna then tells Chloe that Vivian wants to speak with her and hands her the phone. Chloe is shocked to learn that Gabi has Stefan captive downstairs in the secret room.

Gabi questions if Stefan just said he loves her. Stefan confirms that he loves her and wants her. Stefan says the feelings are rushing through his body and he can’t imagine feeling any other way. Gabi can’t believe it really worked. Dr. Rolf points out that they don’t know it worked as it’s possible that Stefan could be faking it. Stefan tells Gabi that he could never hate her and repeats that he loves her with all his heart. Gabi wants to believe him but asks how she knows he’s not lying. Stefan tells her to kiss him and find out, so she does.

Sarah tells Bonnie to give her back her divorce papers, so that she can finalize her divorce but Bonnie refuses, feeling that Sarah is rushing things and that she needs to think about this. Sarah chases Bonnie for the papers but Bonnie warns her to back off or she will rip the papers to shreds.

Xander tells Gwen about how he pulled out all the stops for Sarah and tried to make her reconsider but apparently he’s exceeded her limits, so she’s done and doesn’t want to be married to him anymore. Xander declares that he and Sarah are over for good this time. Gwen holds his hand and says she’s really sorry, but Xander says she’s not.

Alex sees Stephanie and Chad kissing, so he quietly pulls the door back and places his flowers and letter outside the door as he then walks away. Stephanie stops and tells Chad that she thought she heard something but guesses it was probably nothing as they continue kissing.

Gabi tells Stefan that it felt real and great. Stefan apologizes for treating her so terribly but says that wasn’t the real him. Stefan calls her his precious and beautiful wife. Stefan repeats that he loves her so much. Gabi says she believes him and they kiss until Anna and Chloe come in to interrupt. Anna asks what the hell while Chloe reveals she just spoke to Vivian, who told her that Gabi had taken Stefan prisoner. Gabi tells Chloe that she’s too late as Stefan loves her now. Stefan responds that Gabi is right that he loves her, but he loves Chloe too.

Alex sadly walks back through the town square where Allie excitedly asks him how it went. Alex tells her that she can guess how it went since he’s back here alone, which is more than he can say for Stephanie.

Stephanie and Chad kiss onto the couch until Stephanie notices the door is cracked open. Chad gets up and quickly shuts it. Stephanie asks if he’s okay. Chad jokes that he needs to get back in shape since his heart is beating so hard. Chad is just really relieved that Stephanie is so accepting of everything since he did a complete 180 about everything after his talk with Jack. Stephanie is glad that he had that talk with Jack. Chad brings up everything Stephanie is going through with losing Kayla and decides that he should go. Chad says he’ll give her some space and then in a week or two when things settle down a bit, maybe they can pick up where they left off. Stephanie reminds Chad of his talk with Jack and asks if part of what he said didn’t get through to him. Chad asks what she means. Stephanie reminds him that there’s never going to be a right time, so they continue kissing. Stephanie then takes Chad to her bedroom.

Gabi argues that Stefan doesn’t know what he’s saying, as he loves her not Chloe. Stefan repeats that he does love Gabi, but he does love Chloe too. Gabi realizes that Dr. Rolf restored Stefan’s feelings for her, but did not erase his feelings for Chloe, so she orders Dr. Rolf to finish what he started. Dr. Rolf responds that he’s sorry but there’s nothing he can do, leaving Gabi in disbelief.

Gwen admits to Xander that she’s not sorry that Sarah moved on from him. Xander says she claimed to care about him while Sarah thinks he’s the scum of the earth. Gwen assures that she does care about him and doesn’t want him to get hurt. Gwen points out that the divorce papers might never be filed or be ripped up or thrown in a fire. Gwen says it could be a bump in the road and then they make up or Sarah will have regrets and she will be left out in the cold. Xander tells Gwen that he and Sarah are totally over and he’s not just talking about her feelings, but his. Xander asks why he would want to be with someone who is always just moving the goalposts. Xander says all he wanted was to give Sarah the life he thought she deserved and she hurls insults at him and files for divorce, meanwhile there’s Gwen, who instead of throwing him under the bus like he deserves, she threw away a chance at a relationship with her dad. Xander adds that she had no guarantee it would get her anywhere with him but she did it because she cares, has faith in him, and doesn’t judge him. Xander wants to show her how that makes him feel as he then kisses her.

Sarah knows Bonnie thinks she’s being a good friend and that this is helpful, but says it’s anything but. Sarah adds that it’s making her very upset. Bonnie feels Sarah will be even more upset if she files the divorce papers and then wakes up regretting it. Sarah responds that she only regrets getting involved with Xander in the first place. Sarah warns that if Bonnie rips up the divorce papers, she’ll just have Justin draw up another set and have Xander sign them again. Sarah declares that Bonnie can delay the process but not stop it, so she asks her to just do the respectful and dignified thing by handing her back the papers.

Alex informs Allie that he saw Chad and Stephanie kissing. Allie says she’s so sorry. Alex says he is too and he feels like the biggest idiot who ever lived. Alex calls turning off Stephanie’s phone the most stupid and selfish thing he’s ever done. Alex admits it was wrong and he did it for the wrong reasons, so he’s going to end up regretting it for the rest of his life. Alex declares that he just pushed the woman of his dreams into the arms of another man.

Stephanie brings Chad to the bedroom and tells him no more doubts or hesitation as they kiss and begin to undress each other as they then kiss onto the bed.

Allie encourages Alex that maybe Stephanie and Chad were kissing goodbye. Alex assures it wasn’t and doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Allie hates to see him hurting. Alex thanks her but says he will survive. Alex asks about Allie since she’s in the town square so late. Allie says she just had to come back as she left something at the Bakery. Alex guesses that means she hasn’t heard from or seen Chanel. Allie confirms that she has no idea where they stand, but she feels like if she went to see Chanel, she would’ve witnessed something similar to what Alex did. Allie remarks that Chanel is very friendly and likes to flirt a lot. Alex invites Allie out for a drink which she accepts and they walk off together.

Chad and Stephanie lay in bed together after having sex. Chad jokes that he forgot to bring her flowers. Stephanie says she doesn’t need flowers but when he showed up at her door, she knew what she did need. They kiss. Stephanie acknowledges that Chad’s feelings must be all over the place right now which he admits. Chad promises that he’s exactly where he wants to be as they continue kissing.

Bonnie gives in and hands Sarah back the divorce papers. Bonnie argues that she was standing up for true love. Sarah gets it but says it turns out, true love wasn’t what Xander felt for her or else he wouldn’t have behaved so despicably. Sarah declares that she is now going to end it, so Bonnie leaves the room. Sarah then signs the divorce papers.

Xander and Gwen continue kissing. Xander asks if she still doubts him. Gwen responds that it’s not him that she doubts, but she finds it so hard to believe that something she wants so badly is actually within reach. Xander assures that he’s here. Gwen calls it hard to believe because she’s not used to things working out for her. Xander relates to that and says maybe that’s why they are supposed to be together. Xander suggests they see if they can finally make something work out for themselves as they kiss on the bed.

Gabi argues with Dr. Rolf and says he better do something about this. Dr. Rolf repeats that he can’t without new equipment. Anna unties Stefan and says they need to figure this out, but Stefan declares that there’s nothing to figure out as he’s in love with the two most beautiful women in the world, so how lucky is he.

Stephanie is at home, listening again to Alex’s last voicemail where he asked her to give her a chance to make things up to her. Stephanie declares that there is nothing left to say and deletes the voicemail.

Alex is working out at the Kiriakis Mansion when Paulina walks in and greets him. Alex asks if there’s something he could do for her. Paulina responds that she was looking for Justin since her defense team could use another lawyer and she knows he’s one of the best. Alex tells her that he’s not home. Paulina then says that as long as she’s here, she’s going to give Alex a piece of her mind.

Chad goes home to the Horton house and is surprised to see Jack is home. Chad hugs him and says they’ve missed him and the kids are going to be so happy to see him. Chad asks Jack if everything is okay. Jack responds that he just cut Gwen out of his life for good.

In the town square, Leo questions Gwen choosing Xander over her job, her home, and her relationship with her father which she confirms. Leo asks if Xander is really worth sacrificing everything else that matters to her, especially when he’s still very much in love with Sarah.

Xander refuses to sign the divorce papers and tells Sarah that he loves her with all his heart. Sarah tells him not to fight her on this and to do the right thing for once by letting her go.

Dr. Rolf arrives in the DiMera Tunnels secret room where Gabi tells Stefan that she told him that she would find Dr. Rolf and now he can put Stefan back to the way he was before, when she was the only woman he loved.

Chad asks Jack about Gwen refusing to do the right thing. Jack explains that he told Gwen that he would fire her, kick her out of the house, and disown her as his daughter but she still chose to defend Xander. Jack admits that he never thought Gwen would defy him like that, but she did and walked out the door. Jack declares that now he has lost both his daughters.

Leo tells Gwen that she and Jack had gotten so close. Gwen brings up how she wanted to destroy Jack’s family when she first came to Salem because she was so angry, thinking he had thrown her away and she did terrible things to Jennifer and Abigail. Gwen talks about how Jack felt so guilty when he learned that Laura sent her mother away without telling him that she existed, so he still tried to have a relationship with her. Leo asks if it was all out of guilt then. Gwen says that’s how Jack was able to be so kind and forgiving, but she rewarded him by giving him trouble at every turn. Leo feels she’s been hard on herself. Gwen says now she can’t seem to break the pattern of hurting and disappointing Jack. Gwen adds that this time, he was so upset with her that she just accepted the fact that he would probably be better without her in his life because she loves him so much, so she decided to do the unselfish thing and let him go which is what she ultimately had to do with Xander.

Xander asks Sarah to let him explain what she thinks she walked in on the other night. Sarah argues that she knows what she saw. Sarah says he and Gwen were both half naked. Xander explains that he was drowning his sorrows until Gwen shoved him in to the shower to try to sober him up and they both got a little wet, so they had to change clothes. Xander insists there was nothing romantic going on and begs Sarah to believe him.

Stefan doesn’t understand as he thought Dr. Rolf was missing. Gabi says it turns out Li knew where he was and had been bankrolling him the entire time. Gabi adds that she figured she would find something incriminating in Li’s room and she found his burner phone. Gabi notes that Dr. Rolf was actually already on his way back to Salem, so it seems like fate wants them to be together.

Sarah tells Xander that it doesn’t matter if she believes him or not. Xander says it matters to him. Xander then realizes Sarah never said why she came over that night and asks if it wasn’t to bring him divorce papers. Sarah confirms it wasn’t and that Justin and Bonnie convinced her to give him another chance, but then she changed her mind because she saw him with Gwen. Xander calls it a huge misunderstanding so there’s no reason not to give him another chance.

Leo argues that Gwen didn’t walk away from Jack out of love and concern for him, but because she can’t quit Xander. Gwen knows Leo wants her to testify against Xander and cut a deal. Gwen admits she was tempted by Jack. Leo encourages her but Gwen worries that Xander could go to prison for the rest of his life and the thought of that was too painful to her, so she couldn’t do it. Gwen says she tried to tell herself to let him go and that they are just friends. Gwen then admits that she just can’t give up on Xander and that’s because she’s still in love with him, even if he doesn’t love her back.

Jack tells Chad that he gave Gwen so many chances like his family did to him, but Abigail went through hell because of her and he blames himself for that. Chad notes that he blames himself too because he believed Gwen’s lies and doubted Abigail’s commitment to their marriage and betrayed her. Jack encourages that Chad and Abigail worked through all that. Jack assures that Chad made Abigail so happy. Chad wishes he could keep making her happy since she made him happier than he could’ve ever dreamed. Chad thinks he’s persuaded himself that Abigail would want him to live his life without her and not wallow. Chad states that for the kids, he has to be strong. Jack encourages that he has been strong and he’s helped keep Abigail’s memory alive. Jack mentions how Charlotte was so excited talking about going skating with Chad and Stephanie. Chad calls that a good day. Jack encourages that he deserves more good days. Jack tells Chad that he has a lot more to give and calls him a good man. Jack hopes that Chad finds love again and he thinks Abigail would feel the same way.

Stephanie works on typing a speech for Kayla’s funeral. Steve comes home. Stephanie didn’t expect him back so soon. Steve mentions that Joey and Tripp are still at the hospital, talking about donating Kayla’s body to science. Steve states that Kayla always wanted to be an organ donor, but now thanks to Kristen, they can’t even grant her last wish. Stephanie talks about working on Kayla’s eulogy. Steve encourages that the right words will come to her at the right time. Stephanie keeps thinking about what she would’ve said if she would’ve gotten to the hospital in time. Steve urges her to let go of that snice Kayla knew how much she loved her. Stephanie wanted to say goodbye and says she should’ve been there. Steve tells her to stop blaming herself since it was not her fault. Stephanie responds that it was someone else’s.

Alex questions Paulina wanting to give her a piece of her mind. Paulina says it’s about Stephanie. Alex says he should’ve known. Paulina goes over Stephanie telling her that she lost her chance to say goodbye to Kayla since Alex turned her phone off. Alex says there’s nothing she could say to him that Stephanie hasn’t already. Paulina is glad that Stephanie kicked him to the curb. Alex assures that he is beating himself up over it.

Stefan recalls at Dr. Rolf’s lab, there was a ton of equipment when he programmed him while there is nothing down here. Dr. Rolf reveals that he stashed some equipment in the tunnels so it won’t be a problem and he’ll make it work. Stefan questions why he’s going along with this. Gabi informs him that it’s what his father Stefano would have wanted, as he wouldn’t want his son walking around brainwashed. Gabi then sends Dr. Rolf to get what he needs. Stefan tells Gabi that he hates her. Gabi says he won’t for long and promises that when his real feelings come back, he will thank her. Stefan promises that he won’t.

Chad tells Jack that he can’t think of finding love again when Abigail still has his heart and always will. Chad mentions going to her grave on Christmas Eve and thinking she appeared to him to tell him to move on with his life. Jack thinks that means Chad has been thinking about the idea. Jack believes that was Chad’s subconscious giving him permission to move on because that’s what Abigail would want. Jack brings up Chad and Stephanie growing closer. Chad tells him there’s nothing going on between them. Chad then admits there might have been, but he put a stop to it because he realized he wasn’t ready and didn’t know if he ever would be. Chad says Stephanie understood because she loved Abigail too. Jack asks if Stephanie is willing to wait until he’s ready. Chad says no because he felt it would be unfair to hold her back, so she moved on with Alex Kiriakis. Jack finds that funny as Alex doesn’t seem like her type. Chad admits he might not be after all since they broke up. Jack encourages that maybe it’s the time for Chad to make his move.

Stephanie tells Steve that she can’t believe she ever thought she loved Alex as she’s never met someone so self-consumed. Stephanie cries that she’s so angry at him and at herself for ever trusting him. Steve is sorry that happened to her but repeats that Kayla knew how much she loved her. Steve adds that at the end, Kayla was at peace, so she would want her to be at peace too.

Alex tells Paulina that if he had any idea why Chad was trying to reach Stephanie, he would have never turned her phone off and he just thought Chad was looking for another reason to interrupt them. Alex acknowledges that’s no excuse and that what he did was wrong, but he can’t take it back now. Alex doesn’t think there is a way he can fix this or that Stephanie would let him. Alex doesn’t expect Paulina to understand what it’s like to make a mistake this terrible, that causes so much hurt. Paulina then responds that she knows exactly what it’s like.

Leo admits he wishes that Gwen would turn on Xander but he gets that she still loves him, which makes it impossible for her to ruin his life. Gwen repeats that she can’t, even if she knows it won’t work out for them. Leo asks why not since he knows Xander still loves her too. Gwen argues that Xander just loves Sarah more. Leo points out that Sarah wants nothing to do with him, so he thinks Xander might be giving up on Sarah.

Sarah tells Xander that every time she gives him another chance, he makes her regret it. Xander promises he won’t next time. Sarah tells him that she is done. Sarah acknowledges that maybe nothing happened between he and Gwen, but they have a connection that she and Xander don’t. Xander argues that Sarah is the one he loves. Sarah points out that he loved Gwen too, even after she helped have her kidnapped and fried her brain, he still went out and did capers with her. Sarah remarks that she shouldn’t be surprised that he would turn to Gwen for help kidnapping someone, but then he lied. Xander tells her that he’s so sorry. Sarah responds that sorry won’t cut it this time. Sarah knows he didn’t mean to hurt people, but he kidnapped people and Susan is dead while Bonnie is traumatized for life. Sarah repeats that Xander is not the man she fell in love with and she doesn’t want to be married to him anymore.

Stefan tells Gabi that he remembers their life together and it wasn’t all flowers and hearts. Gabi argues that it was at the end, just before she lost him and that’s what makes this so devastating. Gabi insists those feelings are coming back to Stefan because they can’t stay buried forever. Stefan asks why not just let the feelings resurface on their own instead of making him a guniea pig in another one of Dr. Rolf’s stupid experiments. Dr. Rolf returns with his equipment. Stefan worries whether he even knows what he’s doing. Dr. Rolf admits there will be some improvisation and could be some risks, including amnesia or death which they question. Dr. Rolf senses doubt and asks if Gabi still wants him to go through with the procedure.

Gwen asks Leo what exactly Xander said about Sarah. Leo explains that he was a drunken mess so he probably won’t remember, but he said he pretty much lost Sarah. Gwen feels that doesn’t mean he’s ready to give up on her. Leo points out that Xander was sitting in his room, drunk, alone, and half naked. Leo suggests Gwen go over there and remind him of how she saved him.

Xander tells Sarah that he will have a lawyer look over the divorce papers. Sarah points out that there’s no assets to divide and asks him to stop stalling and sign the papers. Xander talks about trying so hard not to let her down. Sarah tells him not to try to put this on her. Sarah argues that this didn’t have to happen. Sarah brings up that she’s a doctor and Maggie offered them money but Xander couldn’t accept it because of his ego. Sarah says she never asked Xander to support her as all she wanted to do is be with the man she loved, the man she thought he was. Xander argues that Sarah knew exactly who he was when she married him and that she was drawn to him being a bad boy. Xander states that is the man she fell in love with which Sarah reluctantly admits.

Paulina tells Alex about giving up her daughter, Lani, to protect her as she thought it was the only choice she had at the time, but she realized she changed the lives of everyone she loved and she couldn’t undo it. Alex says he’s sorry. Paulina talks about how Lani being a grown woman by the time the truth it came out and it was ugly and traumatic, but in the end, Lani was able to forgive her. Alex calls that really good to hear and says it makes him happy. Alex adds that it gives him a little bit of hope that maybe one day Stephanie will amaze him too.

Stephanie encourages Steve to take care of himself. Stephanie talks about wanting to be just like Kayla. Stephanie wants to help people and lift peoples’ spirits like Kayla did. Steve assures that she does and that he’s so proud of her as he hugs her.

Chad tells Jack that he can’t make a move right now as that wouldn’t be fair to Stephanie or anyone else. Chad feels he can’t get involved in a relationship. Jack understands that Chad will always miss Abigail and there’s never going to be a right time. Jack encourages Chad that he has to take that next step but it doesn’t mean the memories of Abigail will be any less important. Jack says it just means that Chad will find room in his heart to live the full life that he deserves, which Abigail would want him to have. Chad hugs Jack.

Gabi questions Dr. Rolf not telling her that deprogramming Stefan could kill him. Dr. Rolf argues that she didn’t ask but points out that it’s a .01 percent chance. Stefan doesn’t want to take that risk of Dr. Rolf poking around in his brain and argues that he doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing. Stefan doesn’t want to let Dr. Rolf lay a finger on him, but Gabi likes the odds and tells Dr. Rolf to proceed. Stefan calls her a selfish, psychotic bitch and tries screaming for help but Gabi puts tape back over his mouth. Dr. Rolf declares that they are ready to begin then.

Paulina sees that Alex is suffering and she knows what that feels like, but she doesn’t know if Stephanie will ever forgive him. Alex says he can’t even get her to talk to him as he’s called and left messages but she doesn’t respond. Paulina thinks the younger generation needs to stop hiding behind a screen to get through to someone, but to actually be with them in person if they have something important to say, especially an apology. Paulina tells Alex to have Justin give her a call. Alex thanks her as Paulina exits the mansion.

Steve is unable to eat. Stephanie encourages him to try his appetite later and suggests he try some of the pie. Stephanie recalls her and Kayla eating pie for dinner when they were in med school. Steve notes that Kayla didn’t talk to him much about that time, but he’s sure they got along just fine without him. Stephanie says it wasn’t fine but they managed because they had each other. Stephanie cries that now without her, she just doesn’t know as Steve hugs her and assures it will be okay.

Gwen mocks Leo’s idea of just showing up at Xander’s door. Leo suggests he get them a room at the Salem Inn while she goes to Xander’s to claim her prize. Leo encourages that Gwen is going to win.

Sarah admits there’s an element of danger in being with Xander that part of her liked with reservations. Sarah thought she could soften his rough edges, but instead, the other way around happened. Xander feels they changed each other and that’s how love is supposed to work. Sarah says not when one person keeps lying to the other, commits crimes, and betrays trust. Sarah says that is now how love works. Xander complains about her lecturing him that he’s not good enough for her and then she leaves. Sarah insists that she’s not coming back this time, so he might as well sign the divorce papers. Xander then reluctantly signs the papers and hands them back to her, asking if she’s satisfied. Sarah says she is and then walks out of the room. Xander sits down on the bed in frustration.

Alex begins writing a letter to Stephanie to ask for her forgiveness.

Stephanie encourages Steve that they are going to get through this. Stephanie adds that she’s sorry she’s been so wrapped up in her personal problems that she hasn’t appreciated how lucky she’s been in having Kayla for as long as she did. Stephanie says finding Kayla’s note with the pie was like Kayla got to say goodbye to her, even if she didn’t get to say it to her. Stephanie declares that they will be okay because they have each other.

Jack suggests Chad at least go and talk to Stephanie. Chad points out that she just lost her mother, so he can’t just show up at her door and bare his soul. Jack disagrees, thinking now is the exact time that she needs to hear from people who care about her. Chad jokes that he sounds like a shrink. Jack says years of therapy will do that. Jack points out that they’ve had so much loss lately with Abigail, Marlena, Kate, and Kayla. Jack thinks they’ve forgotten that they have to live as well as grieve. Jack says if there’s a connection between Chad and Stephanie, maybe he should explore it. Jack knows Abigail loved Stephanie and thinks she would be alright if they got close. Jack declares that whatever Chad decides, he will support his choice.

Dr. Rolf begins the process of deprogramming Stefan to remind him of his love for Gabi. Stefan begins having flashbacks to when he and Gabi fell in love. Gabi cries that it’s working but then the equpiment starts shooting sparks out and Stefan begins shaking in the chair. Gabi questions what’s going on. Dr. Rolf admits the equipment is older than is ideal as he tries to fix it.

Leo walks through the town square and bumps in to Sarah, telling her to watch where she’s going. Leo picks up the divorce papers she dropped and remarks that he sees Xander finally signed them. Sarah tells him it’s none of his damn business and storms off.

Gwen goes to Xander’s motel room where Xander immediately grabs her and kisses her.

Jack runs in to Steve at the Brady Pub. Jack hugs him and says he’s so sorry about Kayla.

Chad shows up at Stephanie’s door.

Alex gets flowers in the town square with the letter he wrote Stephanie and declares that whether Stephanie’s ready or not, here he comes.

Gabi frantically checks on Stefan and makes sure that he’s still alive, asking if he can hear her. Stefan regains consciousness and says Gabi’s name.

Days of Our Lives Update

Gwen works at home while on a call until Jack returns home. Gwen is surprised and hugs him, saying she’s glad to see him but Jack responds that he’s not sure she will feel that way when she finds out why he’s there. Jack informs Gwen that he spoke to Rafe and he knows what she did.

Xander lays in bed drinking while watching TV until Leo shows up at his door.

Li comes out of the shower as Gabi was trying to leave the room and questions where she’s going. Gabi says she can explain. Li tells her to go ahead since she sent him off to shower so they could consummate their marriage, only to find her sneaking out like a cat burglar. Li asks Gabi what is going on here.

Stefan struggles with being tied up and having tape over his mouth in the secret room in the DiMera Tunnels.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Maggie tells Justin that Bonnie is a very understanding person. Sarah then walks in. Maggie informs her that Justin was just telling her about how Bonnie convinced Sarah to give Xander another chance. Sarah responds that she did, but it didn’t stick. Sarah says she’s sorry to get her hopes up, but saving her marriage to Xander is not in the cards. Maggie is shocked as Justin asks what changed Sarah’s mind. Sarah then reveals that she found Xander half naked with Gwen.

Gwen can’t believe Rafe called Jack to disparage her. Jack asks if it’s true that Gwen helped Xander cover up a kidnapping spree. Gwen complains about Rafe just trying to cover the police department. Jack explains that Rafe thought he could talk some sense into her if that’s still possible. Gwen questions what Rafe told him. Jack says enough to let him know that Gwen could be in serious trouble if she does not cooperate with the police. Jack questions what Gwen is thinking when Xander kidnapped two women and one ended up dead. Jack asks why she is trying to help Xander.

Leo reminds Xander that he saved him by putting on the clown suit while Xander tells him to keep his voice down and brings him inside. Xander questions what he wants. Leo wants Xander to acknowledge what he did for him. Xander guesses he did owe him one and offers him a drink. Xander questions what Leo is doing here. Leo wanted to give him a heads up that he’s going to be testifying against him to a grand jury.

Gabi tells Li that she’s obviously leaving because she changed her mind which Li questions. Li doesn’t believe she wanted to get back together or make love to him, so he questions why she really came. Gabi responds that she doesn’t have to explain anything to him after everything he did to her and Stefan. Li asks again why she is here. Gabi declares that she will never be able to get past what he did to the only man she ever loved. Gabi says goodbye to Li but Li grabs her and says she’s not walking out of here until she tells him what she’s doing here. Li then lets her go and grabs the burner phone from his drawer, asking if that’s why she came to his room.

Stefan struggles to try to reach his phone which rings with a call from Statesville Prison. Stefan manages to answer the phone with his foot and tries to say he accepts the charges but has tape over his mouth.

Jack asks Gwen to help him understand why she would cover for Xander’s crimes. Gwen explains that Xander was in terrible debt and didn’t have enough money for a place to stay so he took a job with Ava Vitali that was meant to be a simple transaction and he never meant for Susan to get hurt. Jack argues that it doesn’t matter to EJ or Johnny. Gwen points out that Xander did let Susan go. Jack asks what about Bonnie, who is in his family. Gwen argues that Bonnie’s not some saint, reminding him of what she did to Adrienne. Jack questions if that makes what Xander did okay. Gwen says she didn’t say that. Jack asks what she is saying then. Jack questions why Gwen is still defending Xander after everything he’s done.

Xander asks Leo if this is a joke. Leo explains that his lawyer thinks testifying is the only way to keep himself out of prison. Leo says he didn’t want to testify and hoped he could do it anonymously. Xander asks if this is because he was worried about Sonny would react if he found out. Leo says that Sonny believed he changed. Xander asks why Leo decided to rat him out. Leo responds that Will Horton overheard him talking to his lawyer and told Sonny everything, so now it’s every man for himself.

Li asks Gabi if she was after his burner phone. Gabi claims to have no idea what he’s talking about and that she’s never seen the phone. Gabi remarks that he probably uses it for shady deals. Li then admits to her that he used it only to communicate with Dr. Rolf. Li suspects she already knew that and then sees that a call was made to Rolf while he was in the shower. Li asks if Gabi still wants to pretend she’s never seen the phone.

Stefan manages to get the tape off of his mouth so that he can answer the call from prison which turns out to be from his mother, Vivian Alamain! Stefan tells her how happy he is to hear her voice. Vivian questions that. Stefan tells her that Gabi totally snapped and locked him up in the DiMera tunnels secret room, so she has to send help. Vivian questions why she should lift a finger to help such an ungrateful son.

Li tells Gabi to admit that she sent him to the shower so that she could snoop around and then call Dr. Rolf. Gabi asks so what if she did. Li admits he almost believed her but he should’ve known that she will never give up her obsession with Stefan. Gabi confirms that she won’t give up until she undoes everything that Li did to him. Gabi then reveals that Dr. Rolf agreed to help and he’s on his way to Salem.

Maggie can’t believe that Xander would take up with Gwen again. Justin brings up that Gwen put her through. Sarah says she should’ve seen it coming but just didn’t think it would be this soon. Maggie asks if she’s sure she didn’t misunderstand the situation. Sarah notes that Xander did insist that he could explain why they were in a state of undress, but she questions if it even matters when it’s just going to be more excuses. Maggie points out that Xander could be telling the truth. Sarah remarks that maybe he is, this time, but seeing him like that with Gwen just proved to her that she’ll never be able to trust him again. Maggie thinks she’s being a little rash. Sarah argues that she’s given Xander so many chances, so she knows what she’s doing. Maggie points out that if even Bonnie was willing to give Xander another chance, surely Sarah can too.

Gwen tells Jack that Xander was about to lose everything; his relationship with Justin, his freedom, and his marriage to Sarah. Jack brings up Gwen creating a fake company for Xander to pretend to work at. Gwen argues that Xander just wanted to prove to his family that he wasn’t a screw up. Jack remarks that he certainly failed at that. Gwen knows he’s disappointed in her. Jack shouts that he’s graduated from disappointed to disgusted. Gwen argues that this is different because she had nothing to do with the kidnappings. Jack calls her an accessory after the fact while Gwen insists that she was just helping a friend. Jack complains that she was helping him cover up multiple felonies. Gwen admits it wasn’t the best judgment. Jack adds that it’s happened over and over again but she has a chance to salvage it and make it right for him and all the people she’s hurt by telling the police everything she knows. Gwen responds that she can’t do that to Xander because turning him in would mean losing him. Jack then asks if she’d rather lose him.

Xander questions what Leo was thinking. Leo asks how he was supposed to know Will was eavesdropping. Xander worries that Will could write an expose about him or turn his tragic downfall into his next flick for Peacock. Leo tells Xander that he doesn’t have to worry about Will because he wasn’t snooping for a story, but to get him out of Sonny’s life and it worked as now Sonny wants nothing to do with him. Xander questions Leo selling him out because his love triangle blew up in his face. Leo says it’s nothing personal and he just has to look out for his own interests. Xander asks what if he offered him another incentive which Leo questions. Xander puts his arm around him and says he’s open to negotiation. Leo asks what he’s proposing. Xander then puts Leo’s hand on his body and asks what he thinks.

Li tells Gabi that she’s making a mistake. Gabi says her only mistake was trusting him and says she’s out of here. Gabi tells Li that he can’t keep her here against her will and warns that Rafe is itching for a reason to lock him up. Li responds that he would never do that and says he doesn’t think she wants to leave. Gabi assures that she does. Li feels part of her must know she’s wasting her time with Stefan DiMera and how much better it is to be with a man who actually wants her and understands what they can be together. Gabi questions thinking it’s a waste of time to want her husband back. Li calls it a waste because Stefan doesn’t want to love her and keeps telling her that she makes him sick. Li says Stefan has no interest in being deprogrammed. Gabi then asks who says she’s giving him a choice.

Stefan tells Vivian that this is not the time for her sense of humor and repeats that he’s been abducted by a crazy person. Vivian questions where his concern was when he rose from the dead months ago and never came to visit her. Stefan apologizes and says he’s been busy. Vivian points out that he wasn’t too busy to have his attorneys sent to her to have her sign over Jake’s voting proxy for DiMera Enterprises.

Gwen asks if Jack is saying he can’t forgive her for helping Xander. Jack responds that he’s lost track of all the things he’s forgiven her for; almost destroying his marriage to Jennifer, tormenting Abigail, and the whole Sarah debacle. Gwen tells him that she’s truly sorry for all that she’s done. Jack states that she says that over and over again. Jack says he accepted that because he wanted to believe in her. Jack adds that he’s risked his relationship with his entire family because of her. Jack declares that if Gwen was truly grateful for his love and support, she would stop doing the things she does. Jack asks if she understands the position she has put him in by helping Xander. Gwen questions how he is involved. Jack shouts that she is living in his wife’s family home and working at his newspaper. Jack accuses her of using the paper to launch an attack on the police department. Gwen says she never meant for any of that to blow back on him. Jack then questions how Gwen can go to such lengths for a man who is in love with another woman. Gwen responds that Xander is still her friend and asks if Jack forgot that he was his friend too. Jack acknowledges that Xander is his friend but he will not throw his life away for him. Jack declares that Gwen has given him no choice. Jack then orders Gwen to go to the police department now to swear out a statement against Xander, or else…

Sarah knows Maggie means well but her mind is made up that it’s over between her and Xander. Sarah states that once the trust is gone, there’s nothing left. Maggie is very sorry to hear that. Sarah knows Maggie was rooting for them but says they were never going to make it work as they are too incompatible. Justin notes that Sarah made Xander want to be a better man like Maggie does for Victor. Sarah remarks that even Victor has lines he won’t cross while she can’t say the same for Xander.

Leo questions what is happening. Xander tells him that he knows he wants it and remembers when getting him in bed was on the top of Leo’s agenda. Xander asks if he doesn’t find him attractive anymore. Leo admits that he does. Xander points out that Leo said he had nothing to lose by testifying against him, so he wants to show him what he has to gain by keeping his mouth shut.

Stefan admits that he has failed Vivian miserably as a son but he’s been so distracted by everything and he didn’t take the time to think about her. Stefan promises that if she gets him out, he will do everything in his power to get her out of prison and back home with him where she belongs. Vivian responds that she’s just thinking about how he’d say anything to get her help. Stefan admits that he’s desperate but insists that he’s telling the truth and asks her to get him out of here. Vivian declares that she will take it under consideration.

Li questions what Gabi means by not giving Stefan a choice about the deprogramming. Gabi claims it was just a figure of speech and that she just meant she’s never going to give up on him. Li argues that’s not what it sounded like. Gabi says unlike Li, EJ, and Kristen, she would never take away Stefan’s freedom. Li says Stefan has told her over and over that he’s not interested. Gabi says she’ll never stop fighting for the life they had together and Dr. Rolf is going to help her accomplish that. Gabi then storms out. Li says not to be so sure about that as he pulls out his phone and makes a call.

Gwen questions Jack ordering her to go to the police and asks if he’s going to send her to her room if she doesn’t comply. Gwen argues that Jack can’t force her to do anything. Jack admits that he can’t. Jack says sometimes he wonders if he could’ve been a father to her when she was little, if he could’ve taught her the difference between right and wrong because it’s obvious that she doesn’t know the difference. Jack acknowledges that Gwen is a grown woman, capable of making her own decisions, so the choice is her. Jack then orders Gwen to either go to the police and tell them everything she knows to help them in Xander’s prosecution or she is out of his life for good.

Leo asks if Xander would really have sex with him just to stop him from testifying against him. Xander points out that they almost did it before. Leo complains that was when Xander tricked him and hooked up with Sarah instead. Xander points out that Sarah is gone now, so it’s just them. Leo asks if this is real. Xander assures this time he doesn’t have any tricks up his sleeve. Xander asks Leo if they have a deal. Leo says they definitely do and tells Xander to take him now. Xander then takes Leo to the bed and begins choking him. Xander lets him go and calls him a nasty little bottom feeder. Xander asks what made Leo think he could just walk in and threaten him with no reprecussions. Leo argues that he wasn’t threatening. Xander asks if he’s forgotten who he is and what’s to stop him from snapping his neck. Leo says maybe he doesn’t want to add murder charges to his list of offenses. Xander doesn’t care since he’s already lost Sarah and she was his conscience. Xander says there’s nothing to stop him from turning in to the worst version of himself as he has nothing to lose. Leo tells Xander to stay away. Xander warns that if he tells the cops that he helped him, he will make sure he joins Susan Banks in the afterlife. Leo says he understands and runs out of the room.

Maggie points out that Justin said that Sarah makes Xander a better man. Sarah remarks that not good enough to stop him from kidnapping Justin’s wife. Justin states that he went along with Bonnie’s decision to give Xander a second chance, but he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to overlook what Xander did to Bonnie and Susan. Maggie points out that Xander is not a bad person while Justin states that he does bad things and at a certain point, you just have to accept that’s who he is. Sarah is glad to hear him say that and asks Justin to draw up the divorce papers. Maggie questions doing that so soon but Sarah assures that she’s ready to move on from this marriage. Justin agrees to get the paperwork started right away as it should be pretty straightforward. Justin asks how soon she wants them. Sarah says as soon as possible.

Gwen questions if Jack really means that he would cut her out of his life if she doesn’t flip on Xander. Jack understands why she’s skeptical after all the times that he’s threatened to disown her, only to bring her back in to his life and his heart but he has to be dead serious this time. Gwen argues that they can fix this and asks how it’s different than any other time. Jack responds that losing Abigail has changed everything for him. Jack wants to spend the time he has left, making Jennifer as happy as he can, honoring the legacy of Abigail, and spending time with JJ and his grandkids. Jack doesn’t want to lose Gwen but he can’t keep dealing with the negativity and drama that she brings. Jack tells Gwen to do the right thing and go to Rafe to tell him everything she knows about Xander, or else she will lose the roof over her head, her job at the Spectator, and him as a father. Jack declares that the choice is hers and asks what it’s going to be.

Stefan tells Vivian that there’s no time for her to think it over as she has to get him out of here before Gabi comes back. Stefan continues pleading with Vivian until Gabi comes back. Gabi takes Stefan’s phone and tells Vivian that Stefan was just being dramatic. Gabi remarks that she knows Vivian is upset that Stefan hasn’t visited her, but he had plenty of time to take Chloe to New York and Miami over Christmas and New Year’s. Stefan tries shouting to get through to Vivian. Gabi tells Vivian that the Stefan they know and love would never treat her this way. Stefan argues that Gabi never liked Vivian. Gabi suggests that Dr. Rolf’s brainwashing affected his feelings towards Vivian as well. Stefan calls that a lie. Gabi puts tape back over Stefan’s mouth and then tells Vivian that they are on the same page in wanting Stefan to be in his right mind and no longer under DiMera mind control. Gabi states that once Stefan is deprogrammed, she’ll see to it that he visits her once a week. Gabi then hangs up and tells Stefan nice try.

Li calls someone and says he has an assignment for them to keep Dr. Rolf out of Salem, permanently.

Justin hopes Maggie’s not upset with him for agreeing to represent Sarah in her divorce. Maggie understands it’s what Sarah wants. Justin knows it’s not what Maggie wants. Maggie says she learned long ago that you can give advice and be there for your children, but in the end you have to support their decisions. Justin guesses Sarah is at the motel as they speak, breaking the news to Xander. Maggie cries that Xander loves her so much, so he’s not going to take this well.

Xander lays in bed and continues drinking until Sarah shows up at the door. Xander says he wasn’t expecting her. Sarah comes in and says she won’t be long. Sarah then serves Xander with their divorce papers and declares their marriage is over.

Leo finds Gwen sitting alone in the town square. Leo informs Gwen that he has decided not to testify against Xander because telling the truth might be hazardous to his health. Gwen responds that it makes two of them who have decided not to turn on Xander today. Leo thought Gwen already made her decision to not cooperate with the police. Gwen explains that she did until Jack showed up and gave her an ultimatum which Leo questions. Gwen reveals she either testifies against Xander or Jack will disown her. Leo questions her choosing Xander. Gwen looks to her packed bag and declares that she’s on her own again as Jack made good on his threat and kicked her out of the house, fired her from the Spectator, and said she no longer has a father.

Jack picks up a framed photo of he and Gwen from the mantle and then drops it in to the trash can.

Gabi removes the tape from Stefan’s mouth. Stefan calls her insane. Gabi says she’s determined and there’s a difference. Stefan argues that no matter what she does, he will not fall in love with her again. Gabi says they’ll see about that as Dr. Rolf then shows up at the door. Gabi asks who is down for a little deprogramming.
