Spencer in order to drive up the stock price of aurora media, with the desired result being significant and personal financial gain. As such, I see no reason why mr. Cain shouldn’t face the maximum penalty for his crimes.

So we — and by “we,” I mean the defense and the prosecution — believe that a sentence of that magnitude is too harsh in a case like this. And I believe what you are proposing is too lenient. But he is a family man as much as he is a ceo, maybe even more so. When he proposed a merger of aurora and elq international, it wasn’t for his personal gain, as you suggested. I mean, it was curiously suspicious how deferential both cody and gladys became when ms. Wu entered the scene. And she really took it upon herself to play peacemaker? Yeah, she wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. And of all people, why would she desire to assist them coming to an understanding? And what is the nature of selina wu’s relationship to gladys and to cody? I can’t just amend my statement. I’ll look like a complete flake. A-and what about sasha? What about her? Committing a crime, even if the motivation is one’s family, is still a crime, I’m afraid. Just, in short, without the good offices of her late son, brando, and her daughter-in-law, sasha… gladys corbin’s presence in port charles would likely not be tolerated. Okay. Uh, well, it’s the daughter-in-law that I’m worried about. Sasha’s had a very public breakdown, right, after back-to-back devastating losses. She’s been working really hard on building back her life, but she’s been leaning on gladys because she’s brando’s mother. But gladys does not deserve sasha’s trust. I didn’t even know about the insurance fraud or framing a guy for murder. But just watching gladys messing with sasha’s finances is enough to convince me. Sasha has no idea who her mother-in-law really is. And if we don’t expose gladys, sasha is going to get hurt. Which is why I think we can put aside our differences and use our collective powers for good. I’m not gonna lie — that would be a refreshing change. Okay. Thanks. Alright? I stand to benefit also. T-the twilight sleep or whatever it is. When that wears off, he’s — he’s gonna — he’s gonna be h-himself again, right? He’s gonna come back to us. Right? I’m sure dr. Ashford will straighten this whole thing out. Right. Eddie maine. I never saw that coming. Have a little seat for me. Whoa! Oh, dear.

[ Chuckles ] Are you alright? Do you want to — should we find an exam room? No. No, no. I’m fine. Really, I am. It’s just that I get a little, um… I get lightheaded when I get my blood work done. Right. Here you go. You know, generally speaking, the medical advice is to wait 10 or so minutes before you leave the office. I’m just saying. Hm. I think that dr. Chang suggested that, and I — are you serious?! You must be joking right now. Are you telling me that a patient ignored medical advice? I can’t believe that. That’s just — that’s bananas. Can’t believe it. Uh — [ Chuckles ] I’m kind of in a rush, I guess. I’m trying to make a trip abroad. Well, you must be going somewhere really remote if you need blood work. Chechen republic. Well, okay, so — so as a doctor, you know, given your condition, I’m gonna make a strong medical recommendation that you not go anywhere dangerous outside of the U.S. Because if something were to happen, you’d need reliable medical care and you don’t speak the language. Am I right? So you’ll need a translator, you’ll need a knowledgeable guide, and you will need considerable, you know, military kind of level protection. And let me ask you — if something went wrong, do you have a foolproof way to get back out of the country and get back home? Is this your medical advice? I mean, yes, but — yeah, y-you’re not wrong. I mean, I’m a doctor, but I’m also a citizen. And, you know, as one of your constituents, I have some concerns. Who’s gonna be in charge? How long are you gonna be gone? Have you made arrangements for what will happen during your absence? I — these are all really good questions. You’ve given me a lot to think about. Good. So you’ve changed your mind? He doesn’t appear to be suffering from any physical deficits. There’s no loss of coordination, he’s not slurring his words, and his motor functions and reflexes are normal. Okay. Well, that’s — that’s good. That’s good, right? However, he is experiencing some cognitive symptoms such as combative behavior and profound confusion.

[ Monitor beeping ] Dad? Uh, I don’t mean to be rude, kid… but I’m no one’s dad. I miss my mom, too, but it’s complicated. I get that. When is it not? Has my mom said anything to you? She didn’t have to. I saw how she lit up when you arrived. She was just glad I came to your birthday party. News flash, trina — your mom lights up when you’re around. She doesn’t need a reason. Always. Alright. Message received. And speaking of my mom, where is she? I need her advice about this art fellowship that I’m thinking about applying for. Sounds promising. Don’t get too excited. [ Laughs ] Ohh. Uncle zeke, what’s going on between my mom and curtis? What do you mean? My mom looked really upset. I shouldn’t have left her. I-I’m going back to the restaurant. Uh, trina. Don’T. [ Sighs ] Laura, I’m honored. And please know I will do anything to support you. But I’m not the right person for the job. I’m sorry, but… I have to turn you down. Eddie maine? That was ned’s stage name when he sang for l&b records back in the day. Yeah, but now he thinks that’s actually who he is. Eddie maine doesn’t have a wife or kids or any family at all. You mean y-your father lost his memory? Not exactly. He remembers certain details about his life, although he doesn’t remember what happened yesterday. Uh, so h-he doesn’t remember his fall? Not even the pool. Anyways, I got to go meet up with my family. Thanks so much for the shoulder to cry on. Yeah, anytime. Leave it to ned to cause this mess. Now brook lynn has the weight of her family on her shoulders. You’re right. When I think about everything that the quartermaines are going through, my problems don’t seem so bad. Then both the memory impairment and changes to his personality indicate that ned is suffering from a traumatic brain injury. Didn’t we know that already? Well, I’m trying to ascertain the full extent of his injury and what part of his brain has been affected. Because no two brains are alike, no two injuries are the same. I’ll try to arrive at a specific diagnosis, but you should prepare yourselves. Finding prognosis for a full recovery will be challenging. Dante: Okay. Personality changes, memory and judgment deficits, lack of impulse control. They’re all common side effects… and they may be with your husband for a while. Didn’t leo come up with you? I feel terrible. Did you call the plumber to check the pipe? What? The drain pipe. Never mind. Look. I’ll call my guy. He’ll find the ring. Yes, that’s a possibility. The ring’s not a problem. My mom may have disappointed me, but I’ll always love her. And if anything — if anything happens to her, I’d be at her side. I don’t have a good explanation. This is unbelievable. I mean, all of this talk about honesty and openness, but you had no trouble, no problem not sharing this with me. You can’t compare this one transgression, kissing jordan one time, to your 20 years of lying about trina’s paternity. Oh. O-okay. So wait. That gives you a lifetime pass? [ Laughs ] Maybe. But I’m direct. And I’m gonna tell you the truth. So, your dad fell… and he hit his head so hard that he’s confused. He’s so confused, he doesn’t recognize his family. That hurts my feelings. I imagine it hurts yours, too. But I know that somewhere deep inside, your dad knows exactly who we are. He just can’t remember it right now. But he knows it. Because the man in that bed, he is your dad. He will always be your dad. Got it? Mm-hmm. -Do you have any questions? -Just one. When will I get my husband back? Ned needs to be seen by a neurologist and psychiatrist, and they’ll have recommendations for how to proceed. Until then, we won’t know with any certainty when ned will recover. But it’s not like he’s gonna be eddie maine forever. We’ll do everything possible to treat him, but it’s too soon to tell. This is just crazy. Okay. This is crazy! I’m sorry. I wish I could do more. It’s okay, tj.

[ Sobs ] In the meantime, I’ll call in the additional specialists I mentioned, and we’ll determine a course of treatment. Okay. Thank you.

I can’t get pilar fired. She’s been working for sonny for years. Avery loves her. Okay, but will avery love pilar more than… ava, who’s dead and gone, thank you, cousin mason? I’m just saying. [ Sighs ] But whichever one shows up, it doesn’t matter. I just don’t see how he can make trina a priority. So, what’s this about him wanting to be an aspiring parent? He’s trying to get custody of his baby brother, whose mother is his ex-girlfriend who tried to frame trina. Man. No wonder you’re not a fan of that family. Messy, right? There’s a lot going on.

[ Sighs ] I just don’t want trina involved with any of that stuff. And even though I do believe that spencer does care about trina, I just don’t think he can give her the attention that she deserves. No one can be a devoted partner when their focus is so split.

[ Scoffs ] Unfortunately, you met my grandmother on a bad day. Ah. Is this the part where you tell me that her bark’s worse than her bite? Oh, no, they’re both bad. But that’s tracy. She’ll stick the screws to you and come through for you in equal measure. Translation — she’s a quartermaine. You are learning.

[ Chuckles ] Hey, I’m really sorry about ned. I’ve been praying for you and your family. And if there’s anything more I can do, just let me know. Just keep supporting leo. Yeah. Uh, he’s taking it pretty hard. I caught him with his nose in a book earlier. Some pictures of insects. Yeah. Those joel sartore photo art books. He loves those. Yeah. Yeah, he said that his mom and dad took him to meet the photographer. Leo got pretty shaky when he was talking about ned’s accident. He knows that he’s unconscious. He’s really worried. Well, thank you for telling me. I’m glad he has you as a friend to count on. Well, I’m not doing much good if I go to jail, and it looks like my days are numbered. Let’s just wait it out. Really. I mean, I read somewhere that the statute of limitations on sec investigations is five years. Can you make it that long with a hold on your finances?
