Update written by Joseph

Chad returns home while on the phone with Jennifer, thanking her for taking the kids to get ice cream. Chad asks how they seem and if they are asking about the funeral. Chad tells Jennifer that he’s fine and just needs some time to himself but if the kids ask for him, he’ll come over right away. Chad thanks her and hangs up. Chad stands in his bedroom, holding the program from Abigail’s funeral.

At the Brady Pub, Clyde tells Rafe that he doesn’t mean to be rude but he and Nancy were having a private conversation. Nancy reveals to Rafe that she just asked Clyde to move in with her. Rafe says he’s sorry to interrupt but he needs to know where Nancy got the bracelet. Nancy informs him that it was a gift. Rafe asks who from. Nancy looks to Clyde.

Ben asks Marlena to be baby Bo’s Godmother which surprises her. Ben says unless it would be weird because she’s his therapist but he thinks of her as family at this point. Marlena asks if Ciara would be on board. Ben asks why she wouldn’t be. Marlena jokes that she did try to steal their baby.

Jan tells Evan that she doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Evan explains that he knows she gave birth to his baby, Shawn Christian. Jan argues that he’s confused but Evan assures that he’s crystal clear on what happened. Evan brings up when she seduced him, hoping he would knock her up so she could pass off the kid as Shawn Brady’s which is exactly what she is doing.

Ben argues that Marlena didn’t try to take their baby, the Devil did. Marlena could still see how Ciara might feel uncomfortable with her being Bo’s Godmother. Ben assures that Ciara loves the idea and pointed out that she beat Satan twice. Ben doesn’t think another person in the world could be a better spiritual mentor for their son. Marlena then agrees if they are both sure and says she would love to as she thanks him.

Shawn tells Ciara that he’s going to get Jan a burger and asks her to keep Jan company while he’s gone. Ciara asks if she really needs a babysitter. Shawn explains that Jan is a little bummed out today because she knows as soon as the baby is released, she has to go back to prison. Ciara remarks that’s exactly where she belongs. Shawn tells Ciara to imagine having to leave her baby after two weeks. Ciara argues that she’s not a psycho. Shawn explains that their son doesn’t know Jan’s history, just that he needs her. Ciara doesn’t like Shawn being all concerned about Jan. Shawn says he’s concerned about his son. Shawn tells Ciara if she wants to say something then say it. Ciara then asks if he is starting to have feelings for Jan.

Jan tells Evan that there’s no denying that they shared a hot and steamy encounter in prison but he’s mistaken. Evan tells her to be honest. Jan claims that she has no idea why he thinks he fathered her child. Evan reveals that his father, Orpheus, told him the truth. Jan is shocked to learn that Orpheus is Evan’s father and questions why he didn’t tell her. Evan explains that Orpheus didn’t tell him until recently that she had his baby and that he switched the paternity tests for her. Jan remarks that you really can’t trust anyone in prison. Jan asks if they are in cahoots now. Evan clarifies that Orpheus doesn’t know he’s calling her but the jig is up. Evan declares that he knows Shawn Christian is his son and he wants her to bring him to him, right now.

Chad hangs up Abigail’s dresses as he holds back tears and comments on still smelling her perfume.

Leo finishes having drinks alone in the town square and pulls out his stolen cash to pay for it. Will approaches and calls this interesting as he last he heard, Leo had no job, sugar daddy, or other source of income. Will questions where Leo got all that cash.

Rafe asks Nancy again who gave her the bracelet. Nancy then claims it was from Chloe. Rafe asks what the occasion was. Nancy says that Chloe just saw it and thought of her. Rafe asks when that was. Nancy says it was a couple weeks ago. Clyde asks what’s with all the questions. Nancy asks if Rafe is looking for a gift for Nicole and congratulates him on tying the knot. Rafe says his interest is related to a police investigation which Nancy questions. Rafe reveals that he has reason to believe the bracelet is stolen.

Shawn questions how Ciara could even ask him that, assuring that he does not have feelings for Jan and is in love with Belle. Shawn says he’ll never stop loving Belle but Jan is the mother of his son, so whether he likes it or not, they are permanently connected. Ciara warns that Jan is very willing to exploit that connection so he has to watch out for her. Shawn knows that Jan is devious, manipulative, and violent. Shawn argues that the baby is his son. Ciara argues that the baby only exists because she teamed up with the Devil to trick him in to sleeping with her. Shawn questions the point of reminding him of that. Ciara worries that Shawn is going to get caught up in the good of having the baby and that he’ll forget that Jan’s reasoning is to try to replace Belle. Ciara brings up Jan trying to come between Shawn and Belle so many times and now this is the closest she’s ever been. Ciara adds that Jan tried to kill Belle multiple times. Shawn knows Jan’s feelings for him are sick and twisted but her feelings for their son is pure and sincere. Ciara says Jan needs to go back to prison. Shawn agrees as a cop and citizen, but as a father, he knows how heartbreaking that’s going to be for her and it’s not going to be good for the baby either to not have it’s mother.

Jan tells Evan that prison is no place for a baby. Evan argues that he’s his father and wants to see him. Jan asks how to explain that to Shawn. Evan suggests telling him the truth that the baby isn’t his. Jan argues that would completely ruin her life. Evan warns that if Jan doesn’t bring him his baby in the next 30 minutes, then his next call will be to Shawn and hangs up. Jan tells herself to relax as there’s a solution to every problem and she just has to find it. Jan suggests she can reason with Evan and convince him to keep his mouth shut. Jan imagines bringing the baby to see Evan in prison only for him to proclaim he wants to be a family and proposing to her. Jan declares there’s no way as she is destined to become Mrs. Jan Brady, but if Shawn finds out the baby isn’t his then she will lose him forever and she can’t let that happen. Ciara then enters and asks what she can’t let happen.

Ben reminds Marlena of when she came to Bayview to evaluate him and see if he was fit to return to society. Ben says nobody wanted him in Salem for good reason. Ben recalls Chad giving him cash and driving him to the edge of town to leave. Ben says he was lost and overwhelmed but that’s when he found Ciara after she crashed her bike and that’s when his life began again. Ben can’t believe how lucky he was. Marlena insists that it wasn’t luck as he worked very hard to prove he deserves a second chance. Ben says that chance wouldn’t be possible without him as her guidance and support made him the man he is today with a job, a wife, and a baby. Ben tells Marlena that he owes everything to her and doesn’t know if he will ever be able to repay her.

Will asks Leo where he got all the money. Leo tells him to get a life and stop obsessing over him. Will wonders if he went back to prostitution and calls him washed up. Leo calls him a bitch and warns him to walk away before he throws his last drink on him. Leo asks why Will is dressed up like he’s going to a funeral. Will reveals that he just came from one as they buried his cousin Abigail today. Leo says he didn’t realize. Will remarks that Leo doesn’t give a damn as he walks away.

Chad throws Abigail’s lockbox in frustration and begins pulling out clothes from a drawer as he says he has to get out of here.

Nancy tells Rafe that there must be some mistake as her daughter would never steal a bracelet. Rafe suggests maybe she bought it from someone who stole it. Nancy argues that Chloe wouldn’t get her a gift from a disreputable source as that’s not something you do to someone you care about. Rafe asks if Chloe told her where she got it. Nancy says she didn’t ask. Rafe calls it a pretty distinguished piece and matches the picture they got from Chad. Nancy questions what that has to do with her bracelet. Rafe responds that they have reason to believe that the person murdered Abigail also stole some of her jewelery, including that bracelet. Rafe decides he will call Chloe to come to the police station. Nancy turns to Clyde. Clyde then tells Rafe that there’s no need to do that, admitting that Chloe didn’t give her the bracelet as he did. Rafe questions why Nancy said Chloe gave her the bracelet then. Clyde says that’s his fault. Nancy claims that Clyde’s a very private person. Rafe doesn’t understand. Clyde explains that he bought the bracelet with money he made from a legit job but people are going to doubt that because of his past and he didn’t want Nancy to deal with the suspicion and snide comments, so he told her to say she got it from someone else. Clyde argues that what he does with his money is his business and nobody else’s. Rafe says except when it ties him to a murder case. Nancy argues that Clyde would never kill Abigail. Rafe asks where Clyde got the bracelet then. Clyde admits he bought it off a guy, so Rafe asks what guy.

Chad finishes going for a run in the park and stops at the bench. Leo walks by so Chad starts to walk away but Leo asks him to wait.

Marlena tells Ben that he doesn’t have to repay her. Ben doesn’t think he could ever thank her enough. Marlena says just seeing him happy and in love is all the thanks she needs as she is so proud of him. Ben thanks her and says he’s very serious about keeping up with their sessions, no matter where they are in this world as he wants to continue working on himself and making progress. Marlena is glad to hear that and says she’ll always be here for virtual visits whenever he needs. Ben thanks her and admits it won’t be the same as being in the room with her, so he will miss her a lot. Marlena says she’ll miss him too as they hug. Will walks in and then apologizes if he’s interrupting. Marlena says she was just talking to Ben as he shared some very good news.

Ciara asks what Jan was saying when she walked in. Jan claims that she was just saying she might have to go back to prison soon and she’s worried that her son will forget her which she can’t let happen. Ciara assures that Shawn understands the importance of a son having a relationship with his mother so she shouldn’t worry about it. Jan calls Shawn a saint for taking such good care of her. Ciara mentions just running in to Shawn on his way to get food for her and he told her that she should keep Jan company. Jan calls Shawn so thoughtul. Jan asks if Ciara wants to see her nephew too. Ciara says she would love to in order to say goodbye actually because she and Ben are going to sail around the world with baby Bo and they leave tomorrow. Jan assumes she’s taking the boat that Hope gave her. Ciara questions her knowing about that. Jan explains that Julie mentioned it during her visit. Ciara says it will be really good to get away for a bit and spend quality time as a family. Jan remarks that does sound perfect.

Clyde explains to Rafe that some guy came in the Pub a couple weeks ago, paying in cash, and he admired his money clip. Rafe calls that interesting as a money clip was another thing that was stolen from the crime scene. Clyde says the guy claimed his aunt had passed away and he was trying to liquidate her assets. Clyde says he bought the bracelet for Nancy, thinking it would make a nice gift, but he had no idea it was stolen. Nancy says that explains that Clyde was tricked and victimized by a crook. Rafe asks Clyde to tell him more about this guy he supposedly met and what his name was. Clyde says he didn’t ask for a name. Rafe asks him to describe him. Clyde calls him average looking but says he was looking at the bracelet, not him, and he paid in cash. Rafe argues that there’s no way he can prove that the guy actually exists. Nancy yells at Rafe to stop it as this is exactly what Clyde was talking about, people being suspicious when he has done nothing wrong. Nancy insists that Clyde is telling the truth and Rafe has to know that. Rafe responds that all he knows is that Clyde was in possession of an item that was stolen from a woman who was recently murdered and that’s all he needs to place Clyde under arrest.

Chad asks Leo what he wants. Leo says he just heard Abigail’s funeral was today and wanted to offer his condolences. Chad argues that Leo hated Abigail and blamed her for breaking up he and Craig. Leo admits he didn’t appreciate how they worked together. Chad brings up that Leo considered them enemies and vowed to get revenge. Leo says he’s done with all that as it weighs on him a lot what he did to he and Abigail. Chad brings up the interview Leo gave with all those disgusting lies and argues that he came after his wife. Leo tells him how much he regrets it. Chad says people would come up to Abigail and tell her that they thought she was clueless and harassing her in the town square. Chad says Abigail handled it with grace and dignity while he wanted to sue and kill Leo. Leo admits that when his once chance of happiness was deliberately destroyed, he was angry at a lot of people including Abigail but he didn’t want her to die. Leo says he’s really sorry that she’s gone and hopes he believes him. Chad says whatever he says. Leo insists that he’s so sorry for him and their children. Leo remarks that Thomas is such a sweet boy. Chad then questions how Leo knows his son.

Will jokingly asks if he should call Ben “Captain Weston” now after Ben tells him about their plan to sail around the world. Will hopes sleeping in tight quarters doesn’t remind him of their time as cellmates. Ben jokes that Ciara doesn’t snore like Will does. They joke about Will being Ben’s best man because he didn’t have any friends. Ben recalls being floored when Will said he considered him a friend after everything he tried to do to him. Will assures they are good and talks about how far Ben has come. Will is glad he got to meet Ben’s son before they left. Ben reminds Will that he told him that they were coming to Will and Sonny for parenting tips. Ben asks for advice when the baby isn’t sleeping. Will says that kids love stories and suggest Ben tell Bo all about his cousin Arianna and then when they come back, their kids can be friends like them. Ben agrees and they hug.

Ciara comments that Jan seems a little nervous. Jan claims she’s just hungry. Shawn then returns with her chili cheese burger and asks if everything is okay. Jan says Ciara was just telling her about her plans to travel the world. Jan comments that baby Shawn will miss her aunt, uncle, and cousin. Jan suggests Shawn take Ciara to go see the baby. Ciara says she can just sneak a peek on the way out. Jan points out that if Shawn takes her then she can actually hold him so Ciara agrees. Shawn says they will be back then. Shawn and Ciara exit so Jan puts the burger down and steals Ciara’s boat key from her purse. Jan declares that she’s sorry to hijack Ciara’s plans but she needs this getaway more than she does. Jan adds that the only people who will be “Living in Cin” is her, Shawn, and their baby. Jan then eats her burger as Ciara and Shawn return to the room. Ciara calls the baby adorable as Shawn sends her the pictures they took. Jan comments on the baby looking so much like Shawn but Ciara notes that she doesn’t see it. Ciara says she has to get going, so Shawn walks her out. Jan then grabs her purse and Ciara’s boat key and escapes from her room.

Ben decides he should get baby Bo home as they have a big day tomorrow with his Christening and then their big sendoff from the docks. Will wishes Ben luck with everything. Ben thanks him as they hug. Ben tells Marlena that he will see her tomorrow and exits.

Leo tells Chad that obviously he doesn’t know Thomas personally and that they’ve never met but claims that Gwen told him stories from when she was their nanny. Chad remarks that Thomas is a lot like his mom. Leo asks if the police have any leads on Abigail’s killer. Chad says not yet. Leo hopes they bring whoever did this to justice and repeats that he’s sorry for his loss. Chad thanks him and walks away.

Nancy argues that Rafe can’t be serious as Clyde is innocent. Rafe says they should have nothing to worry about then. Clyde asks Rafe to hold off on arresting him until they are outside as it wouldn’t be so great for Roman if his patrons saw him hauled off in cuffs. Rafe agrees and tells Nancy that he will need the bracelet which she hands over. Nancy tells Clyde that this can’t be happening. Clyde is sorry he got her mixed up in this but swears he did not kill Abigail. Nancy asks what she can do. Clyde tells her not to worry as he will have this cleared up in no time. Nancy tells him to call if he needs her. Clyde thanks her and says he will as he then exits the Pub with Rafe.

Evan paces in prison, complaining that Jan should’ve been there by now and wonders where the hell she is.

Shawn returns to Jan’s hospital room to find that she is gone, so he wonders where she went. Shawn then discovers Jan’s ankle monitor in the trash can.

Jan sneaks in to the nursery, dressed as a nurse. She picks up her baby and declares that they are going on an adventure far away from Salem.

Ciara and Ben eat Chinese food at home. Ciara can’t believe this is their last night in Salem. Ciara asks if they are crazy for doing this, picking up their entire life and leaving with a newborn. Ben says it’s what she wanted to do. Ciara says it is but worries that they are being too impulsive and if it will end up being a really bad decision. Ben decides there’s only one way to find out and opens his fortune cookie. Ben reads the fortune which says “Tomorrow, the adventure of a lifetime begins.” Ciara guesses she can’t argue with that as they kiss.

Will tells Marlena that it really is crazy that he and Ben are friends. Marlena calls their friendship a testament to how people can change. Will says not all people as he ran in to Leo Stark earlier. Marlena asks if they had words. Will says it wasn’t too bad but he has a distinct feeling that Leo is up to something.

Nancy runs in to Leo outside of the Pub. Leo asks what her rush is. Nancy cries that her boyfriend just got arrested.

Rafe handcuffs Clyde in the interrogation room and says he’ll be back to take his statement. Rafe exits the interrogation room. Chad arrives and tells Rafe that he got his call so he asks if it’s about Abigail’s case. Rafe responds that it’s good news as he thinks they caught their first real break.

Recap written by Christine

At the Abbott house, Jack told Allie that she could start working at the internship tomorrow. She was excited and grateful. He admitted his motives weren’t fully benevolent – he thought that the happier she was here, the more likely she would be to stay, possibly for good. She hugged him, and he smiled. She said he made her feel welcome from the moment she arrived. He said that was easy because he loved having her here. She got a text from Noah that made her laugh, and Jack commented that they were getting close. She said she and Noah weren’t close-close. She decided not to say more, since this didn’t seem like a conversation she should have with her grandfather.

Jack assured Allie that he was just a regular guy and it was okay to talk to him. She said she and Noah were just hanging out, but after tomorrow, she was going to focus strictly on work. Jack didn’t want Allie to be locked in a lab all day. He had fun at her age, and he wanted her to have fun too. He thought Noah was a good guy. Jack knew what Allie had been through and it made him happy to see her smile. Jack had a meeting, and he reiterated that Allie should have fun. Allie started texting Noah, and she accepted his invitation to meet at Crimson Lights. Jack glanced back and smiled, then he left.

Diane ran into Phyllis at the park. Diane wondered what the odds were that they’d keep bumping into each other. Phyllis replied that they were pretty high, since Diane had come to her hotel today. Diane intended to use the spa more often now that she knew she was welcome. Phyllis said there was no need to thank her for having an area that provided a friendly face. Phyllis was sure Diane was still getting a chilly reception from the people of Genoa City. Diane said that even if the rest of the town never came around, that was fine because she was connecting with her son, her grandson and the Abbotts, especially Jack, who was accepting that she would be part of the family.

Diane was amazed at how things had changed since she returned, and she was happy with how things were going. Phyllis was going to say something, but she decided against it. Diane continued that she and Michael were friends again, Kyle had opened his heart, and Summer couldn’t be more supportive. Phyllis said that her daughter was gracious. Diane gushed about the deep mature level that she and Jack were connecting on. Phyllis couldn’t take it anymore. She snapped that Diane was delusional if she thought she would ever be romantically linked with Jack again. “Who said anything about romance? Your mind went straight there because you expected Jack to forgive and forget and take you back like he’s done too many times before. And now you’re terrified because he finally wants nothing to do with you, and you have no one to blame but yourself. It must be making you insane,” Diane said, with a smile. Phyllis refused to let Diane bait her. Diane said she wasn’t baiting Phyllis; she was simply stating the truth. Phyllis said she didn’t believe Diane, then Phyllis started to leave. “Well it’s not just me,” Diane called out, which caused Phyllis to stop. “Everyone in your life can see what’s going on. Even your own daughter can see who you really are,” Diane said.

Phyllis ordered Diane to keep Summer out of this. Diane said she was just being honest. She overheard Summer say that Jack deserved more than Phyllis had to offer. Phyllis asked if Diane was spying on her. Diane said no – she came back to the lobby and caught part of the conversation. Phyllis didn’t buy it. Diane hoped Phyllis accepted the reality that Jack would never love or trust her again and that he’d never think of her as anything but conniving and duplicitous. Phyllis said that was Diane, not her. “I’m the one who’s winning and you, once again, are out in the cold,” Diane stated, before flouncing off.

Jack came up and caught Phyllis yelling after Diane. “I will never lose. Ever!,” Phyllis bellowed. Phyllis was glad Jack came. She hoped he saw that Diane was the aggressor. Jack did notice that Diane seemed to be pushing Phyllis’ buttons, and he wished Diane hadn’t done that. However, since Jack didn’t see the whole exchange, he wasn’t sure what Phyllis may have done to provoke Diane. Phyllis was angry Jack would think that she provoked Diane. He said it would be the first time. “Miss ‘I came back from the dead gets a free pass, but I don’t get the benefit of the doubt? Seriously?,” she yelled. She didn’t understand him – they’d had something amazing and it could’ve been great. He thought she know why it couldn’t. She continued to scream in his face throughout the exchange. She said she knew why it couldn’t work because she’d taken responsibility for everything, while that bitch didn’t take responsibility for anything she’d done to Phyllis. Phyllis said that everything went to hell when Diane came to town and Jack didn’t see it. Phyllis predicted that one day Jack would realize he made a mistake, and he’d want her back, but it would be too late. She walked off.

Summer and Kyle met at Society, where Jack and Diane would be joining them later. She said her mom told her what happened between her and Jack. He said he got the story out of his dad too. Summer was disappointed by Phyllis using her relationship with Jack to irritate Diane. Kyle said Phyllis had a special talent for shooting herself in the foot and inadvertently taking other people down with her. Summer said Kyle wasn’t wrong, but Phyllis cared about Jack, and Summer thought Jack felt the same way. Summer hoped Jack could forgive Phyllis. Kyle sighed, and Summer asked if he didn’t think her mom deserved another chance.

Kyle would never say Phyllis didn’t deserve another chance. He noted that he was giving his own mother another chance. He knew his dad still had feelings for Phyllis, but she’d hurt him badly. Kyle said that it took a lot for Jack to put himself out there again, after his history with Phyllis. Jack was very wounded, and Kyle didn’t see a way for Jack and Phyllis to get back together. Summer knew Kyle had a point, but she felt terrible for her mom. She wondered how this would affect everyone going forward, especially with Diane working at Marchetti. Both Summer and Kyle didn’t think the conflict between tehir mothers was over.

Diane met Kyle and Summer at Society. Summer said she loved the ambiance at Society, but she’d be glad when they could have meetings in their own office space. Diane asked if they’d found a location for the new Marchetti office. Kyle said they were going to work out of the Jabot building once the space had been reorganized. “Well that will be convenient, being under the same roof as Jack – and – and – and the Jabot headquarters,” Diane replied. She was humbled by the opportunity and she felt like things were finally starting to settle down for her here.

Jack went to Society and apologized for being late. Diane said they wondered what kept him. Jack said he’d gotten caught up talking to Allie. He was ready to start the meeting. Kyle said they set up a press conference to announce the purchase of Marchetti and that Kyle would be taking over the role of CEO. Jack wanted it to be splashy. Diane had an idea to leak the news and get some buzz going before the press conference. Summer, Kyle and Jack all thought was a good idea. Kyle said that this job already seemed like a good fit for Diane. She said she was willing to do what it took to do a good job and make Kyle proud.

Allie went to Crimson Lights to meet Noah and ran into Phyllis. Phyllis invited Allie to wait with her for Noah to arrive. Allie was surprised she hadn’t seen Phyllis in awhile. She’d thought they’d run into each other into the Abbott house. Phyllis said she’d been out of town, and she’d been busy since she got back. Phyllis asked how things were going. Allie said it had been a whirlwind, and her life had gone in a different direction than she ever expected. Phyllis said Allie deserved happiness. Phyllis wanted to hear everything about Allie’s life at the Abbott house and how she was getting along with Jack and the others.

At Newman Enterprises, Adam asked what Victoria accomplished with Ashland. “I righted every wrong,” she replied. He asked her to elaborate. Victor walked in and hugged Victoria. She said she cut Ashland out of her life and made him pay dearly, and now she was safe and home for good. Victoria told her parents and brothers that she had to end the nightmare Ashland put her through on her own terms. In order to pull that off, she had to make sure Ashland believed she was willing to turn her back on the family and the company. Victor wished Victoria had told them in advance and saved them all that heartache. She was sorry she put them through that, but she couldn’t risk Ashland finding out she was lying to him. Nikki asked if that meant Victoria never believed Ashland’s claims that her love changed him. Victoria believed Ashland loved her as much as a man like him was capable of love, and she believed he was remorseful, but that wasn’t enough to see past his massive betrayal. She said whether or not Ashland loved her didn’t matter – he built his empire on lies and he wasn’t ever going to change. She said he didn’t deserve forgiveness or the generous payout Victor gave him in hopes he’d disappear, which he didn’t do until she agreed to go with him. She wished the family let her handle this on her own, but she’d rectified everything. She thanked all of them. “I don’t think my plan would have been successful without those of you who truly love me,” she said. Adam looked like he wanted to say something, but Victor waved him off and shook his head no.

Victoria explained that she told Nick that she and Ashland were meeting with potential investors for a business venture, hoping that Nick would share that information with Victor. “I was counting on you to do the right thing, and you came through for me,” she told her brother. Victoria had expected Victor to try and track down the investors and squash any possible deals. Nikki said she’d been worried Victoria would be furious with Victor. “You do know your father,” Nikki admitted. Victoria said she and Victor thought the same way. She knew he would want to stop her from making what he would consider a foolish decision. Victor said Victoria was right. Victoria said that once Victor killed the potential funding, she convinced Ashland that they should use their own money. She opened a corporate bank account, and she deposited 250 million dollars of her money into the account, and Ashland took the bait and transferred in the 250 million that Victor gave him. She then moved his money into her private bank account and closed the corporate account. She said she’d give Victor back his money. Victor was proud. He winked at Victoria.

Nick couldn’t imagine Ashland took the news very well. Victoria said she told Ashland what she’d done and how she truly felt. It was painful and cathartic. She was still hurt, but in that moment, getting revenge was a moment of triumph. She said it was a crushing and devastating final blow for Ashland, and he’d never looked so devastated. Victor admired Victoria for turning Ashland’s devious plan back on him. “You’re my daughter alright. You not only did that for yourself. You did that for all of us, and I love that,” Victor said. Everyone except Adam looked pleased.

Adam wanted to talk about how things would work at the company. While Victor understood Adam’s concern, he felt that this was the time to celebrate the extraordinary thing Victoria did. Nick thought celebrating was premature, since Ashland was going to be looking for a fight. He asked what was to stop Ashland from coming back to get the money he lost or his part of the company. Victoria said she told Ashland that she’d expose his cancer fraud if he did, which would ruin his name. Nick admired what Victoria did, but he said Ashland had nothing to lose, so what was topping him from going after revenge?

Victor loved the idea of Ashland coming after the Newmans. Victor said they’d never been more united as a family. Adam looked annoyed. Victoria agreed with Victor. She said it would be stupid for Ashland to come after them. Nikki said they should keep their eyes open and realize that this wasn’t a battle they should take on. Nikki said together, they were unstoppable. Adam said he had more important things to do than celebrate the family’s reunification and Ashland’s downfall. He left. Victor said he’d deal with Adam later. Nikki knew that when Victoria spoke to Nick earlier, she said there would be changes. Nikki wanted to know what that meant.

Victoria said it had been important to find balance between who she was and who she was as a Newman. She knew she’d pushed them away from time to time because she felt like she had to fight to maintain her sense of self, especially while she was running the family company. After everything that happened with Ashland she realized she didn’t have to fight to get thing she already had. She knew they wanted her happiness and success as much as she wanted it. She felt whole and complete because of her family. She said their guidance and advice kept her strong. She realized Nick had her back no matter what, and he was the best brother and friend she could ever ask for. She was so thankful for their help and support through this difficult period. She wanted them to come together as a team to run Newman. She wanted Victor as her consigliere, the wisest and most amazing of all advisors, Nikki as her partner and collaborator, and she thought it was time that Nick consider coming back into the fold.

Sally called Chloe, who was at Crimson Lights, and apologized for having to cut their talk short earlier. Sally wanted to talk again, and Chloe did too. Chloe accepted Sally’s invitation to meet her at Newman Media. Sally promised it would be worth her while. Chloe arrived at Sally’s office and commented that she looked right behind that desk. Sally asked how Chloe was doing, since she was so upset before, and rightfully so. Chloe had felt like she was on the verge of a mental breakdown. She said she and Chelsea were constantly bickering and fighting lately. Normally, they were in sync, but now it felt like they were speaking two different languages. Chloe loved Chelsea with all her heart, and they’d been through so much together. Sally knew a true best friend was hard to come by and she wasn’t going to dissect Chloe’s friendship. Sally just wanted to know if Chloe actually wanted out of her professional partnership with Chelsea, or if she’d just said that in the heat of the moment. Chloe admitted she was curious what Sally meant earlier when she said there was a possible alternative.

Chloe asked if Sally heard about an opening at another fashion label. Sally had something better in mind – she wanted Chloe to come work here with her. Sally wanted to create her own team at Newman Media, and Chloe checked all the boxes – smart, scrappy and savvy. Sally said they really connected when they worked together before. Chloe asked what she’d be doing. Sally revealed that she wanted Chloe to be her COO. Chloe was stunned. She asked what Adam thought about this. Sally said that Adam supported this because he trusted her judgment, and he wanted Newman Media to succeed, so if Sally thought this was best, he’d go along with it. Sally said Chloe would be reporting to her, so any personal things going on between Chloe and Adam wouldn’t be an issue. Chloe was flattered, but overwhelmed by the offer. Sally had an internal debate about taking this job, but in the end, she went with her gut, and she was doing that now with Chloe. Sally had a lot to prove, and she figured Chloe probably did too, but she knew they could accomplish great things together. Chloe didn’t know how Sally could be so confident when Chloe wasn’t. Sally said to look how far they took Newman Fashion – it was on the verge of greatness before Victoria shut it down. Sally also said selling fashion was similar to selling content – they were both creative endeavors aimed at enticing the public. Sally felt Chloe was brilliant at branding, always on top of current trends, and she wasn’t afraid to color outside the lines. Chloe was used to working with a handful of employees, and this would entail overseeing a ton of people and a huge budget. Sally thought Chloe was capable of more than she realized and that she wouldn’t see it unless she challenged herself.

Chloe was humbled by Sally’s faith in her, especially when Chelsea and Chloe moved on without Sally after Newman Fashion shut down. Sally called it water under the bridge. She knew Chloe was caught in an awkward situation, and she understood why Chloe made the choice she did. Sally said she belonged at Newman Media and so did Chloe. Chloe was grateful for the opportunity. Before she could say more, Adam burst in. Chloe decided to leave. She said she’d take some time to think it over and to see if she could fix things with her current job. Sally understood. Chloe left. Adam was upset because his family had fallen all over each other talking about family love and loyalty and complimenting each other and acting like he wasn’t even in the room. “Victoria’s back and they pulled the rug out from under me. Again. But if they think that I am going to sit down and take it – they are in for a rude awakening,” he stated.

Update written by Joseph

After Abigail’s funeral, Marlena finds Nancy outside, holding back tears. Nancy comments on it being a beautiful funeral but says it got her thinking about her daughters and how much they owe to Abigail. Nancy cries that now she’ll never be able to tell her how grateful she is.

Rafe brings Doug and Julie home along with Ciara. Julie thanks Rafe but feels guilty for leaving the wake so early, especially since they were hosting it. Doug assures that everyone will understand, although he doesn’t think it was necessary to have two escorts home. Ciara says she wanted to see them home and she also wanted a moment alone to talk to the three of them as she has some news to share. Julie complains that she can’t stand any more bad news today. Doug points out that they don’t know it will be bad news. Ciara says that she and Ben don’t think it’s bad news. Ciara then announces that she and Ben are leaving Salem which shocks Julie.

Shawn enters Jan’s hospital room. Jan asks how Abigail’s funeral was and says she’s sorry he had to be there alone as she would’ve been there with him if she could have. Shawn says he wasn’t alone as he was with his family. Shawn adds that he did just get some good news as he ran in to the doctor in the hall and he said baby Shawn has gained two ounces and is doing really well which means they get to hold him. Jan excitedly hugs Shawn and calls that the best news ever.

Orpheus startles his son Evan/Christian in the prison visiting room. Orpheus complains about Evan giving him the silent treatment. Evan can’t believe that Orpheus knew he was having a kid with Jan Spears and kept it from him, so he questions why he would want to talk to him. Orpheus tells him that it’s for his own good because he needs something from Jan and once he gets it, they will be out of here. Orpheus admits he was afraid that if Evan knew, he’d get too emotional and wouldn’t be able to keep his mouth shut and play the game. Evan argues that this isn’t a game. Evan complains that Zoey took his son to the other side of the world which Orpheus also kept from him. Evan declares that if he can’t be with David, he’d like to be a father to his other son because that’s what fathers are supposed to do. Orpheus tells him that he will help him which he has done by not telling him. Orpheus states that now that the baby is born, they don’t need Jan Spears, they just need to get one little thing from her and once they get it, it’s going to rock peoples’ worlds.

Ciara hoped Doug, Julie, and Rafe would be happy for them. Julie questions being happy that they are leaving Salem while Rafe questions when she got a boat. Ciara explains that Hope just gave them one and she told Ben about how Hope and Bo sailed the world with Shawn and then Shawn and Belle did with Claire, so it’s kind of a family tradition so they thought that they would continue the tradition. Ciara argues that Doug and Julie spent half their lives cruising around the world so they know what she’s talking about. Julie attributes that to Doug but says they are from Salem and will always come back to Salem. Ciara promises that they will too.

At the Brady Pub, Ben informs Clyde of he and Ciara’s plan. Clyde questions them just taking his baby grandson and sailing away. Ben knows it’s kind of out of the blue, but they really want to do this. Ben asks if Clyde is upset. Clyde asks how he’s supposed to feel. Ben knows Clyde was just getting to know the baby. Clyde responds that is not the only reason he’s upset.

Evan asks if Orpheus is still not going to tell him what information Jan has or what he’s planning to do with it. Orpheus tells him this stays between them and sits him down. Orpheus explains that Jan has gotten close to Shawn and she’s going to get the password to the Salem Police Department main frame and give it to him. Evan asks what that will get him. Orpheus says when his guys get access to the system, they’ll have access to everything, the DA’s office, the mayor, and he’ll be able to get his hands on files that not even Rafe and Shawn can touch. Evan questions what’s in the files. Orpheus decides it’s best that he doesn’t know the details. Orpheus assures that once he gets what he needs, they’ll both be out of prison and Evan will be where he should be with his son.

Jan tells Shawn that she’s been dreaming of this moment since she first found out she was pregnant. The nurse then brings Jan baby Shawn to hold. Jan tells her baby that they love him so much which Shawn seconds.

Ciara informs Doug, Julie, and Rafe that she and Ben plan to take the same route that Hope and Bo took, ultimately out in to the wide open sea. Ciara mentions that their first stop is Hope, who can’t wait to meet baby Bo. Julie wants Hope to visit them. Ciara says maybe she’ll come back with them. Julie assumes they have plenty of time together and asks when they plan to leave but Ciara reveals they are leaving tomorrow. Doug questions what the rush is. Ciara explains they are afraid that the older Bo gets, the harder it will be to do this so if they put it off, they might never get to do it. Ciara feels either she gets back to work and they put the baby in daycare or they set sail for a grand adventure. Rafe says it sounds like she’s got it all figured out. Ciara mentions they do have one loose end to tie up.

Clyde argues that Ben is forgetting about him, reminding him that it’s a condition of his parole to live with him so while they are sailing off, he’ll be getting hauled back to prison. Ben assures that they didn’t forget about him. Clyde complains that they didn’t exactly welcome him with open arms to begin with and he knows Ciara has been counting the days until she’s rid of him. Ben states that he and Ciara promised to take care of him and they will. Clyde questions if they are taking him with him and asks what he would say to his new girlfriend.

Marlena asks why Nancy wanted to thank Abigail. Nancy reminds her that Abigail and Chad interrupted Craig and Leo’s wedding, so they helped save Craig from marrying Leo. Nancy adds that she also wants to thank Marlena for all the help in their therapy sessions. Marlena thinks she’s made a lot of progress. Nancy mentions also having something else that’s helped her accept what’s happened with her and Craig. Nancy reveals that she has a new boyfriend. Marlena says she’s glad but thought that might have come up in their therapy sessions. Nancy admits she might thought Marlena would judge him.. Nancy calls him a wonderful person, kind, family oriented, and employed but he just got out of prison recently. Nancy reveals that his name is Clyde and argues that just because you did something wrong in the past doesn’t mean you are condemned to be a bad person for the rest of your life.

Orpheus tells Evan that Jan will be heading back to prison soon and when she does, Evan will be the only parent the baby has. Evan says that’s assuming Jan comes through for him. Evan reminds him that Jan lives with Shawn, so he questions how he plans to get in touch with Jan without Shawn knowing and bringing down the hammer. Orpheus reminds Evan that he’s a criminal mastermind so he mailed Jan a burner phone disguised as junk mail and now he’s going to signal her to get herself alone and wait for his call.

Jan tells Shawn that the baby is perfect and calls him their little miracle. Jan claims he looks just like Shawn. Shawn is not sure he sees it but Jan insists that he will.

Marlena acknowledges that Clyde is working very hard to turn his life around. Nancy is glad that she sees it. Nancy mentions that Roman said Clyde is the best cook the Brady Pub has had since Caroline. Nancy adds that she has never had this much fun. Marlena says she’s happy for her. Nancy knows that if Ben can be reformed and accepted, then anyone can.

Ben asks if Clyde and Nancy are getting pretty serious. Clyde says he wouldn’t want to up and leave at this point. Ben says that’s good to hear because he’s sorry but he can’t leave. Ben talks about Clyde working hard to prove himself and says he’s proud of him, so he wouldn’t want him to violate his parole which coming with them would do. Clyde asks what the alternative is. Ben says Clyde only needs a responsible party to vouch for him. Clyde jokes about how popular he is in Salem. Ben then suggests Clyde live at the Pub.

Julie asks Ciara what if Roman doesn’t agree to let Clyde stay at the Pub. Doug tells Julie not to try to talk Roman out of it to torpedo their plans. Ciara doesn’t think Roman will say no. Rafe jokes that he knows a place that would welcome Clyde back with open arms. Ciara doesn’t think it will come to that as Ben loves his dad and would do anything to help him, but they agreed that their family comes first. Julie points out that all family is important. Doug says they understand being young, in love, and wanting to see the world. Doug says it will be a magical time for them but while they are out conquering the world, they will be missing her terribly. Ciara says she loves them and thanks them for understanding as she hugs Doug and Julie. Julie clarifies that she’s not exactly understanding but she won’t try to talk her out of it because she’s stubborn like Hope. Rafe wants frequent updates on his godson. Ciara promises there will be pictures and videos. Ciara brings up wanting to have Bo’s Christening before they leave. Rafe assures he will keep his schedule open. Ciara thanks Rafe and acknowledges that he’s always been there for them. Rafe says he always will be and says he’s honored to be Bo’s Godfather as they hug. Ciara says now she has to go tell Shawn about their plans.

Jan tells Shawn that baby Shawn is going to look just like him and they will be so proud. Jan says she’s so happy that their son is getting healthier and will be leaving the hospital, but she doesn’t want to go back to prison. Shawn then gets a call from the prison and it’s Evan.

Clyde questions Ben wanting him to live at the Pub. Ben asks why not and jokes that he could put a sleeping bag behind the bar, then reminds Clyde that there are rooms upstairs. Clyde points out that’s where Roman lives with Kate, who happens to be his ex. Clyde asks what makes him think Roman would agree to it in the first place. Ben encourages that Ciara will talk to him and set it all up. Ben adds that as far as Kate goes, Clyde is spoken for now anyway.

Marlena tells Nancy that she’s right that Ben has worked very hard to overcome his illness and get his life back on track. Nancy argues that Clyde has too. Marlena asks how serious they are. Nancy says they haven’t really put a label on it, but reveals that Clyde did give her a beautiful bracelet. Nancy says she didn’t want to wear it to the funeral because it was too flashy but she can put it back on now. Nancy asks if it’s alright if she doesn’t go back inside. Marlena agrees to let Abigail’s family know that she’s sorry. Marlena agrees with Nancy that it’s a beautiful bracelet. Nancy declares that she is one lucky lady.

Shawn questions what Evan wants. Jan urges Shawn to hang up because Evan’s a maniac. Orpheus watches over him as Evan tells Shawn that he knows this might be inappropriate but he didn’t know how else to go about it. Shawn tells him to spit it out or he’s hanging up. Evan claims he wanted to apologize for what he did to his sister and nephew. Evan says he feels awful and wasn’t in his right state of mind, so he’s sorry. Shawn questions that being all he has to say. Evan guesses he’s just looking for some sort of redemption. Shawn tells him to find it somewhere else and lose his number as he hangs up. Jan asks what Evan said. Shawn responds that Evan wanted to apologize for what he did to Ciara and Bo. Jan questions that being it. Shawn doesn’t know what his deal is, but he said he was looking for redemption. Jan then flashes back to assuring Orpheus that she would get it and Orpheus informing her that he would mail her a burner phone. Orpheus had revealed that “redemption” would be the magic word and when she hears it, she would have five minutes to get the phone and wait for his call. Jan then tells Shawn that she doesn’t know why Evan would get redemption. Shawn suggests not talking about Evan. Jan says she’s starving and asks Shawn to get her another chili cheeseburger. Shawn agrees and exits the room, allowing Jan to retrieve the burner phone from her purse. Jan wonders what Orpheus told Evan and worries that he’s going to ruin everything.

Julie can’t believe that Ciara is leaving town after just losing Eli, Lani and the twins as well as Abigail. Doug points out that Ciara is a grown woman with a family of her own and her whole life ahead to settle down. Doug encourages that Julie still has him. Julie thanks God that she does. Doug tells Rafe that they won’t keep him since they know he has a lot on his plate. Julie asks if there’s been any progress in the search for who killed Abigail. Rafe responds that all they know so far is that the killer got in to Abigail’s bedroom despite the DiMera’s tight security and there is no sign of forced entry, so they don’t know how they got on or off the grounds and there was no weapon left behind. Rafe adds that the only solid clue they do have is the jewelry and money that was stolen. Rafe notes that Chad took pictures of the jewelry which was quite distinctive, so if they find the jewelry then they’ll find the killer or the person to lead them to them.

Nancy goes to the Brady Pub and greets Ben, saying it’s nice to see him again. Ben mentions having errands to run. Ben tells Clyde that he wanted to make sure he was okay with all of this. Clyde says it sounds like a hell of an adventure, so he’s happy for him but he will miss him and the baby. Ben admits he’ll miss Clyde too. Ben knows they spent more time apart than together and the times they did have weren’t always the best, but he’ll be back and they will pick up right where they left off. Clyde says he’ll hold him to that as they hug. Ben says goodbye and exits the Pub with baby Bo. Nancy asks Clyde what that was all about.

Jan gets her call from Orpheus and questions what the hell he told Evan and why he’s even talking to him. Jan argues that Evan is not supposed to know anything about the baby being his as Orpheus promised her. Orpheus tells her to calm down and claims that Evan doesn’t know anything and that he’s just a means to an end. Orpheus says he used Evan to call Shawn because he had a plausible reason to call him. Orpheus tells Jan not to worry as the paternity of baby Shawn Christian is a well kept secret. Jan questions how he knew her baby’s name. Orpheus responds that he knows all and warns her not to cross him because he will know that too. Orpheus says he kept his end of the bargain and asks if she got Shawn’s password to Salem PD. Jan responds that she has it memorized and warns that she knows things too, so he shouldn’t cross her either. Orpheus asks for the password. Jan starts to tell him but gets some of the letters mixed up and blames him for making her nervous. Jan then gives him the password of “x92f5:)29” and says she’s positive. Orpheus says it was a pleasure doing business with her and hangs up. Orpheus then tells Evan that it’s time to get to work.

Nancy questions Ben leaving without consulting with Clyde first to set up a workable situation for him. Clyde informs Nancy that Ben said Ciara would talk to Roman. Nancy asks what if Roman doesn’t want to take responsibility for him. Clyde guesses he’d go back to prison then. Nancy says no and decides if it turns out that he can’t stay at the Pub, then maybe he could move in with her.

Ben brings baby Bo to go see Marlena at home. Ben is glad she’s home as he knows it’s been a rough day for everybody. Marlena can’t imagine what Abigail’s family is going through and adds that it can’t be easy for Ben either. Ben felt it would be inappropriate for him to attend the funeral and he can’t help feeling selfish for wanting to grieve her. Marlena understands he would and asks why that would be selfish. Marlena calls Ben a good and kind man. Marlena tells him to let her know if she can do anything to help. Ben responds that is what he came to talk to her about and asks if she offers any kind of virtual therapy.

Ciara goes to the hospital to see Shawn, who asks what she’s doing there. Ciara says she came to see him. Shawn says he just saw her an hour ago. Ciara says that Abigail’s funeral didn’t seem like the right place to tell him. Shawn questions what she is telling him.

Orpheus tells Evan that Jan knows there would be hell to pay if she screwed this up. Evan asks how long it will be before he can see his son. Orpheus suggests a couple weeks or maybe months which Evan questions. Orpheus tells him that they are playing the long game and it takes time, but he’ll get his guys on it right away. Orpheus tells Evan to be patient as he walks away. Evan declares that he doesn’t think he can do that. Evan decides he can’t wait that long and retrieves the phone number from the trash can and calls Jan’s burner phone back. Jan asks what he wants. Evan responds that he wants his baby.

Ciara tells Shawn about her and Ben’s plan and asks him not to be mad. Shawn assures that he’s not and asks how he could be mad when he did the exact same thing with Belle and Claire. Shawn adds that he doesn’t regret a single second of it as it was some of the best times of their life. Ciara knows he’s going through a lot and she wants to be there for him, so she’ll just be a video call away. Ciara asks Shawn to see them off tomorrow and promises they’ll be back before he knows it as they won’t spend as much time as Shawn did. Ciara looks forward to baby Bo and baby Shawn growing up together. Ciara tells Shawn that she will really miss him as they hug.

Doug tells Julie that everything is going to turn out alright. Julie can’t get over so many goodbyes. Doug assures they will all be coming back but Julie cries that Abigail won’t. Julie knows she should count her blessings but she can’t help but think of Chad not having all the years with Abigail. Doug says he will count the blessings for both of them and she’s at the top of his list. Doug says he loves her and they kiss. Julie calls him the captain of her heart.

Clyde questions Nancy wanting him to move in with her. Nancy guesses that was kind of forward of her since they’ve only been seeing each other for a short time. Nancy wants to forget it. Clyde calls it very kind of her and says he’s just a little surprised since she just came through a really difficult divorce. Nancy calls this extenuating circumstances. Nancy says that if things don’t work out with Roman, he could consider her his backup plan. Clyde says he would be honored. They hold hands until Rafe enters the Pub and approaches them to question where Nancy got her bracelet.

Recap written by Christine

Nikki went to Adam’s office so she could be there for Victoria’s homecoming. She asked if Adam had any idea when Victor would be driving Victoria here from the airport. Adam thought it was telling that the homecoming would be in the CEO’s office and that he wasn’t informed. Nikki said no one was intentionally excluding him. He asked if she had an idea on what his future at Newman might be.

Nikki had no idea what Victoria’s plans were, since Victoria hadn’t been in contact since she left. She wasn’t even sure Victoria was staying for good. Adam said he talked to the pilot, and Victoria was the only person on board and there were no plans to have a return flight. Nikki wouldn’t get her hopes up until she heard from Victoria herself. She said Victoria could just be coming to chew Victor out for blocking her business venture with Ashland. Adam was startled to hear Victor did that. “Is there anything that Dad didn’t do to pave the way for Victoria’s glorious return?,” he asked.

Nikki contended that Victor didn’t pave the way for anyone, and he wasn’t making a calculated move against Adam; Victor was simply trying to protect his daughter. Adam thought that Victoria left town to get away from that famous Victor Newman protection. Nikki didn’t want to get into this with Adam right now. He shifted gears and asked a work question, which she answered. Nikki got a text from Victor saying that the plane landed early and Victoria wasn’t at the airport anymore.

Billy called Victoria to check in, but she didn’t answer. He said it was clear her family was keeping a secret.

Nick met Victoria at a suite in the Grand Phoenix. She greeted her brother with a hug. Victoria had a hotel room because she was having her house deep cleaned to symbolically remove any remnants of Ashland. Nick wanted to know what was going on and why Victoria didn’t want him to tell their parents she was here. He said Nikki and Victor knew Victoria was coming home, and Victor had even planned to surprise Victoria at the airport. She said her flight got in early. She wanted to have a minute alone with Nick before seeing everyone else. He assumed she was upset he betrayed her confidence. She said she actually wanted to thank him.

Victoria said Nick was the only relative who came to her after she announced she was leaving, with no reprimands or judgment, just love. He said he was sincere. He didn’t like what she was doing, but it was her choice to make. He said it was very hard for Victor to accept, since it contradicted what he wanted. Nick asked what happened in NY. Victoria didn’t want to say anything until everyone was at the office. She asked Nick to gather the family. He asked if she was back for good. She said she was, but things would have to change.

Victoria went to the bathroom to freshen up. While there, she had a flashback to her final confrontation with Ashland. She remembered telling him that she didn’t want to see or hear from him again. She called Billy and he asked if she was alright. She said she was better than she’d been in a long time. She’d taken a huge step forward in her life, and there was no looking back now. She said she was back in town, and she’d give him the details after she talked to her family. He asked if Ashland was still in the picture, and she said he was out of her life for good.

Ashland was still in NY brooding over Victoria tricking him. He had a flashback of their last moment together, when she revealed her plot to take back the 250 million dollars he got from Victor. In the present, Ashland called the bank and asked them to reverse the money transfer, but they said no. He ended the call, then he threw his phone across the room. Later, while Victoria was telling Billy that Ashland was out of her life, Ashland chartered a plane to Chicago.

Victoria met Nikki, Nick and Adam at the office. Nikki hugged Victoria and said she wasn’t sure she’d ever see her again. Nikki said that Victoria had seemingly been willing to walk away from the family forever. Victoria was sorry she put them through that, but she had to make the break seem plausible to Ashland. “So it was all a scam? A trick? What have you done, Victoria?,” Adam asked.

Elena was about to leave home for the airport. Nate came home early with a red rose to see her off and say aloha. He wanted to have a meaningful goodbye. He took her hand and lead her upstairs to their bedroom, and a love scene followed. They incorporated the rose, with him running it over her body. Later, they came downstairs and agreed it would be difficult to say goodbye. She wished he could come. He was tempted, but he couldn’t leave work. He said he loved her and would miss her every second. She said she’d send him updates and bring him home some sand from Hawaii. He promised the next trip they took would be work-free. He wanted to drive her to the airport, but she’d already called a car.

Devon was at the park on a run, and he bumped into Chance. They decided to jog together. Chance won the race, and he and Devon joked around, then Devon asked how Chance was doing. Chance channeled his grief over Rey into a something positive. He closed 80% of Rey’s open cases. Devon was sure Rey was smiling down on Chance. He was impressed that Chance seemed to be in a better headspace. Chance said Devon’s support had a positive impact. Devon also knew he’d made things messier than they needed to be when it came to Dominic. Chance knew Devon wanted the best for their baby, and all that mattered was that things worked out well.

Lily met Amanda and Imani at Society and asked about their mom. Imani had just come back from seeing Naya, who was still struggling with her speech and mobility. Amanda said they were worried about Naya’s psychological state, since she was stuck in the hospital bed. Imani said that it seemed to lift Naya’s spirits when they visited. Lily told the sisters that they could take time off whenever they wanted to go visit. Abby stopped by and talked about the launch party. She’d missed running events. Lily asked what happened to Abby’s plans to build a hotel across the street from The Grand Phoenix. Abby sighed that it was a long story.

Abby said Phyllis fought her tooth and nail from the beginning, so Abby gave up. Amanda said Phyllis just didn’t like the idea of a competing hotel across the street. Lily wanted to revisit the idea of having another hotel in town. Devon sold the Athletic Club, and Lily was thinking Chancellor Winters needed a place to have visiting talent stay and conferences, events and concerts. “Maybe I could build an even grander phoenix in Genoa City,” Lily said. Lily said dealing with Phyllis was a potential headache, and using the Grand Phoenix would cut into profits, so she wanted to open a Chancellor Winters hotel. Abby hated giving up The Grand Phoenix to Phyllis. Lily wondered if they could get Phyllis to sell. Amanda didn’t think Phyllis would let the hotel go after all she poured into it. Lily had no problem opening a different hotel and going head to head with Phyllis.

Devon and Amanda met up at home and kissed. She started crying about her mom. Amanda was worried for Imani too. She said she and Imani were both putting on a brave face, but sooner or later, Imani’s walls would have to come down. Amanda was really frustrated because, as a lawyer, if you were prepared, things would usually go as expected, but in your personal life, there were things you couldn’t control. Devon knew what Amanda was going through. He lost a lot of people – Dru, Neil, Hilary and their child. Amanda was sorry, but he said she didn’t have to be. He said sometimes all you could do was your best. He told her that it was fine if Imani wanted to act like what was happening with their mom didn’t bother her, but Amanda didn’t have to do that because she had him. She said he’d given her an emotional security she never had before. It was comforting and empowering, but it was also scary because it felt so fragile. She was scared it would go away and she’d be alone. He put her hand on his chest and told her as long as his heart was beating, she’d never be alone again. They kissed.

Nate ran into Imani at Crimson Lights. He asked about her mom. Unfortunately, Naya wasn’t great. Nate asked if Imani had anything she wanted to talk about. She did. She said she looked into getting Elena out of the AskMDNow contract so she could start a Chancellor Winters podcast. Unfortunately, Elena’s contract with Newman Media was airtight, and it wouldn’t be easy to break it. Imani knew that Nate wanted to get this done before Elena was back from Hawaii. Nate said Elena was boarding the flight now. Imani said she and Nate would have to work together to figure this out. He said thanks. He wanted Elena to work with them, so he was counting on Imani to make that happen. He also had to do everything he could to fulfill the promise he made at the launch party. They didn’t currently have 50 podcasts to deliver yet. She was glad he confided in her. She felt a little responsible since she was the one who encouraged him to go big during his speech. He thought they should meet with Sally Spectra, the new head of Newman Media. Imani said she’d set up a meeting. Nate stepped away, and Imani quietly made a dinner reservation for two. When Nate returned, Imani lied and said she’d gotten a meeting with Sally and made dinner reservations for the three of them.

Chance went to Society and talked with Abby and Lily. Chance had some time off after all the overtime, so he spent time with Dominic, then he went on a run and now he hoped to spend time with Abby. Lily left them alone. Chance felt he’d been neglecting Abby since he’d been so busy at work. Chance and Abby had a picnic in the park. He showed her a picture of Dom that he took this morning. Abby assured Chance that she didn’t feel neglected. She was proud of the way he was honoring Rey’s memory. His dedication to his partner made her love him even more. They kissed. Chance got a tip on one of Rey’s cases that had to be dealt with right away. He was going to let someone else deal with it, but she encouraged him to go and see his personal mission through. He wanted to spend uninterrupted time with him. She said it meant so much that he put this together for her, and they had the rest of their lives to go on picnics together. They exchanged I love yous and he left.

Lily and Billy met at work. She wanted to tell him about an interesting conversation with Abby. He interrupted to say that Victoria was back. He had no idea how much this was weighing on him until now. He’d been dreading telling the kis that their mom left town. He felt inspired to lighten up his podcast and have a little fun. He said he could talk about how they had to trust the people they surrounded themselves with. Lily didn’t think the disastrous end to a dramatic relationship was cause for celebration. He said he’d turn it around and say a dramatic end to a disastrous relationship was inspiring. “Victoria is back where she belongs,” he said.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Chad sits at John and Marlena’s with his tablet, reading Abigail’s obituary.

Jack and Jennifer are at home. JJ comes in and hugs Jennifer. Jack then gets a call from Statesville Prison.

Tony and Anna enter the living room of the DiMera Mansion and hug EJ.

Kayla joins Steve in the Brady Pub as he is reading Abigail’s obituary.

Lucas is in his room reading Abigail’s obituary.

Chad answers the door at John and Marlena’s and breaks down crying as Sonny and Will have arrived and they hug him.

Steve finishes reading Abigail’s obituary to Kayla at the Pub. Kayla doesn’t know how Jennifer wrote the obituary while going through Hell. Steve adds that she turned it around so fast. Kayla says she was up all night but couldn’t come up with anything as Jack asked her to speak at Abigail’s funeral today. Kayla doesn’t know why she agreed to since she’s not a writer and doesn’t know how to put her feelings in to words.

Tony tells EJ that this is all such a terrible tragedy. Anna says it makes no sense. EJ says they have to come together as a family and find a way to move forward. EJ is glad they are here as they will need them. Tony asks where Chad is as they’d like to see him. EJ responds that he’s at John and Marlena’s since he stayed there last night with the kids. Anna offers to bring the kids back home. EJ thinks Chad would prefer to stay where he is rather than being in the DiMera Mansion where Abigail was murdered.

Chad tells Will and Sonny that he’s so glad that they are here and asks when they got in. Will says he and Arianna took a red eye and he just dropped her off with Gabi. Will and Sonny tell Chad that they are here for whatever he needs. Chad says spending time with his kids is probably the best thing for him right now. Will talks about Charlotte looking more and more like Abigail. Chad calls it a miracle that the kids even exist considering how Abigail felt about him when they first met. Chad says he’s been thinking a lot about that the last few days. Chad says he was crazy about Abigail from the start but she thought he was a total jerk. Sonny points out that she obviously came around eventually. They talk about Abigail overcoming and helping Chad with his fears of being a DiMera. Chad says Abigail gave him so much confidence. Chad figured he can’t be that bad if Abigail chose him. Will encourages that they will get through this together. Chad repeats how glad he is that they are here. Sonny asks what they can do to make today easier. Chad responds that John and Marlena are getting the kids ready while he needs to go home and put on a suit but he hasn’t slept. Sonny decides he’ll drive as they exit together.

Kate goes to Lucas’s room at the Salem Inn. Lucas questions her being back so soon. Kate says she wanted to see how he is. Lucas says he’s fine but sad as everyone in Salem is. Lucas asks if there’s anything else or if she wants to ask if he woke up this morning and remembered killing Abigail.

JJ informs Jennifer that Ciara said she and Ben are taking Julie to the church. Jennifer asks if JJ has seen her necklace with a heart pendant that Abigail gave her for Christmas. JJ says he hasn’t. Jennifer knows she packed it but when getting dressed she couldn’t find it. Jack finishes his call and informs Jennifer and JJ that Gwen knows today is Abigail’s funeral so she wanted him to know that she is thinking about them and called Jennifer’s obituary beautiful. Jennifer calls that very nice of her. JJ disagrees and declares that bitch can take her fake sympathy and shove it.

Kate comments that at least Lucas cleaned up the place. Lucas reminds her that he was looking for the jewelry that was stolen from Abigail but he can’t find it. Kate argues that doesn’t mean a thing because he could’ve taken it and stashed it somewhere. Kate asks about Lucas’s hand injury. Lucas says his hand is fine and no big deal. Kate argues that it was the same night that Abigail was killed with a knife. Lucas insists it was not by him. Lucas asks what it will take for Kate to believe him. Kate wants definitive proof to know he had nothing to do with it. Lucas says that would be fine so she would stop grilling him. Kate wants to help him if he’s in trouble. Lucas appreciates it but declares he doesn’t need her help because he didn’t do anything wrong. Lucas says whatever happened that night, he wouldn’t hurt Abigail so he wants to drop it. Will then knocks on the door.

Steve thinks Kayla is putting too much pressure on herself as no one expects her to write a perfect speech, just to say whatever is in her heart and whatever comes to mind. Kayla says that’s the problem as her mind is full of all the things she wants to say about how much she loved Abigail, but then when she goes to write them, she sees the image of Abigail being brought in to the hospital and that’s not how she wants to remember her. Steve encourages that it will take some time. Kayla talks about people she loved being rushed in to the ER over the years, but this is different due to the way that somebody hurt Abigail so viciously and violently. Kayla cries that she keeps wondering if she could’ve done something more to save Abigail’s life. Steve assures that she did everything she could and asks how she can doubt that. Kayla cries about how much she loved Abigail and she doesn’t know how to accept that she’s gone.

JJ argues that Gwen is not sorry about Abigail since she hated her and did everything she could to wreck her marriage. JJ says that Gwen did nothing but cause Abigail pain and now she has the nerve to express sympathy. JJ argues that Gwen’s probably doing a happy dance in her cell. Jack yells that’s enough and then decides he needs some air and rushes out of the house.

Lucas answers the door and tells Will it’s good to see him. Will says the same and just wishes it wasn’t under such sad circumstances. Kate asks when he got in. Will says it was this morning and he just wanted to see Lucas before the funeral. Kate decides to leave them to spend some time alone. Kate says she’ll see them at the church and exits. Lucas asks Will about his trip. Will says it was long and he couldn’t sleep as he couldn’t stop thinking about Abigail. Will calls it so hard to believe that Abigail was murdered in her own home and questions who would want to hurt Abigail. Lucas responds that he doesn’t know as everyone loved her. Will says he’s been thinking about it and wondering if maybe Abigail’s murder had something to do with Sami’s kidnapping.

Jack goes to the Brady Pub. Steve thought they were meeting him at the church. Jack sits down and says he just had to get out of the house. Steve asks what happened. Jack explains that Gwen called and offered her condolences but JJ didn’t react well. Kayla asks what he did. Jack doesn’t want to get in to it and says he wants to talk about Abigail. Kayla says that’s what they are here for. Jack asks Steve what he’s thinking as far a who killed his daughter.

Anna brings up EJ being home the night that Abigail was attacked so she asks if he saw anyone skulking around, suggesting Gwen. EJ says he was out most of the evening and shortly after he got back, he heard Chad screaming for help and found him holding Abigail as she was slipping away. Anna can’t imagine how awful that must have been for Chad to find his wife bleeding to death on their very own bed. Chad then walks in to the room.

Lucas questions why Will would think Abigail’s murder had anything to do with Sami’s kidnapping. Will explains that Abigail reached out to him because she was doing an investigative piece for the Spectator and wanted to compare notes since he’s a reporter too. Lucas still doesn’t get the connection. Will reveals that Abigail called him the night before she died and wonders if someone else didn’t want to be a source. Will declares that whoever kidnapped Sami obviously had a very personal reason to want to shut Abigail down. Will asks what if they were so desperate to keep Abigail from finding out the truth and putting it out there, that they killed her.

Jack asks if Steve has a lead or a suspect. Steve says he’s sorry but he has nothing yet. Jack argues that Steve was going to help the police solve the case but it looks like he’s just sitting here while the rest of them are out there trying to find who killed Abigail. Jack says he needs something and pleads with Steve. Kayla mentions reading that some jewelry was taken from Abigail’s bedroom so it could’ve been a robbery. Steve confirms that Rafe is trying to track down what was taken. Steve thinks it’s significant but his instincts tell him robbery was not the motive because nothing else of value was taken from the house. Steve adds that the way Abigail was attacked seemed personal. Kayla questions Steve thinking the person who did this knew her. Steve confirms that’s what the knife suggests to him as it wasn’t random or circumstantial. Steve thinks that she was targeted. Jack questions what reason someone would have to want to hurt Abigail. Kate then walks in to the Pub.

Tony hugs Chad and tells him he’s so sorry about Abigail. Anna hugs Chad and says she’s sorry for what she just said being insensitive as she didn’t realize he was standing there. Anna asks how Thomas and Charlotte are doing. Chad says they seem okay and he has a number for a therapist if they need to talk to someone. Chad adds that John and Marlena are getting the kids ready for the funeral. Tony is surprised they are coming. Chad says that Marlena thought it would be a good idea since they are having a hard time accepting that their mom is gone, so she thinks it will help with the grieving process to be able to say goodbye.

JJ tells Jennifer that he shouldn’t have said that about Gwen. Jennifer understands emotions are running high. JJ says he should’ve kept his mouth shut as he didn’t mean to upset Jack but Gwen calling set him off since she was horrible to Abigail. JJ says at least Gwen is in a cell now. Jennifer agrees that’s where she deserves to be but it makes Jack very sad because he wanted Abigail and Gwen to make peace so he could have both of his daughters in his life. JJ points out that they both still have him. Jennifer thanks God for that. Jennifer explains that after Gwen’s wedding went to Hell, she told Jack that she would support whatever he wanted his relationship with Gwen to be, but that she would never trust her again. JJ asks if she still feels that way. Jennifer assures she would support Jack no matter what. JJ calls her a saint. Jennifer says she tries to put herself in Jack’s shoes and he loves Gwen and when you’re a parent, nothing your child does will ever make you stop loving them. JJ feels he’s come close a couple times. Jennifer says parents may feel anger or disappointment but that doesn’t change the love as that is forever. Jennifer adds that children take a piece of your heart, so you feel everything they feel and when you lose a child, you lose that piece of your heart. JJ hugs Jennifer as she cries.

As Kate enters the Pub, she sees Jack and tells him how sorry she is about Abigail. Kate talks about Chad being like a son to her and how happy Abigail made him. Kate calls Abigail a loving mother and wife and a wonderful person that she admired. Kate gives her condolences to Steve and Kayla as well which they thank her for. Kate mentions overhearing that Steve is investigating what happened. Steve says he’s unofficially helping out. Kayla states that they are all determined to find out who did this and get justice for Abigail. Kate is a little surprised they are discussing this today. Steve points out that everyone is anxious for answers and he’s sure Kate understands with what she’s going through with Philip. Kate guesses she just assumed they’d be focused on celebrating Abigail’s life and honoring what she meant to all of them and sharing in their grief. Jack agrees and decides he should be going. Jack says he will see them all at the service and exits the Pub.

Lucas remarks that if Will thinks the kidnapper and the murderer are the same person, then that means EJ killed Abigail. Will brings up EJ’s conviction being overturned. Lucas says that doesn’t mean he’s innocent. Will argues that the Devil planted evidence on EJ’s computer. Lucas argues that EJ framed an innocent man and the whole thing points at EJ since he’s ruthless and heartless. Will knows Lucas hates EJ but questions if he really thinks EJ would stab Abigail to death when she was his family. Lucas agrees that maybe that’s a little too far even for EJ. Lucas decides they should get to the church and offers Will a ride. Will says he’s meeting Sonny but he’ll see him there. Lucas hugs Will and says he loves him. Lucas advises Will not tell Chad about his theory about EJ. Will assures that he wouldn’t when Chad is about to bury his wife. Will then exits the room.

Chad brings up that Will is in town, so he and Sonny drove him over to get dressed for the funeral. EJ says they have some time so he suggests Chad visit with Tony and Anna while he has Harold press Chad’s suit since he was freshening up some of his as well. Chad knows what EJ is doing and says he appreciates it but he has to go in the room at some point. Anna points out that it doesn’t have to be today. Chad assures that he can do it and he’ll be alright as he exits.

Kayla complains to Steve that she doesn’t know why she agreed to do this and she should’ve asked Jack to pick someone else who could write. Steve encourages that she’s overthinking it. Kayla doesn’t want to disappoint anybody, especially Abigail, feeling that she disappointed her that night. Kayla knows she did everything in her power to save her but she couldn’t, so the least she could do is let everybody know how much she means to her but she doesn’t know how. Steve gives the hand symbol for “I love you” and explains that he expressed how he feels from his heart without even speaking which is all Kayla needs to do.

Jack returns home and asks JJ where Jennifer is. JJ explains that she’s upstairs, trying to find the necklace that Abigail gave her. Jack says he should help her. JJ stops him and apologizes for what he said before as he shouldn’t have blown up like that, especially today. Jack adds that he shouldn’t have stormed out. JJ understands he’s angry as he is too. Jack tells JJ that he’s entitled to his feelings about Gwen after everything she did to their family. JJ responds that he’s not angry about Gwen, but about Abigail. JJ questions why this happened. Jack doesn’t know. JJ cries that he misses Abigail as Jack hugs him and says he does too.

Anna praises Jennifer’s tribute to Abigail with the obituary. Tony calls it sad for a mother to have to write her own daughter’s obituary. Anna calls it unimaginable loss for all of them and she doesn’t know how they are all supposed to go on without her.

Chad enters he and Abigail’s bedroom and looks around the room. Chad sits on the bed and holds one of Abigail’s dresses.

Kayla tells Steve that she thinks she’s done writing her speech and thanks him for really helping her. Kayla says when Steve used sign language, she realized that she was limiting herself by thinking there was only one way to express her feelings about Abigail but that’s not true. Kayla adds that there are words she can use to say how much she loves Abigail without writing a eulogy. Steve asks what she means. Kayla talks about being part of so many ceremonies where somebody read something beautiful, moving, and suited to the occasion but they didn’t write it themselves. Kayla recalls Abigail telling her that she loved the poet EE Cummings, so she thought there was no one better to help her express how much she loved her. Kayla then reads to Steve the poem “I Carry Your Heart With Me.”

Jennifer returns to the living room, having found her heart pendant necklace that Abigail gave her. Jennifer, Jack, and JJ then exit together.

Lucas gets prepared in his room and looks down at his bandaged hand and then at Abigail’s obituary. Lucas then picks up his keys and exits.

Will and Sonny walk through the town square together.

Anna and Tony toast to Abigail at home.

EJ goes to check on Chad in the bedroom. They nod to one another and EJ exits. Chad finishes putting his suit on and follows out of the room.

Recap written by Christine

Phyllis was at the hotel. She made a phone call instructing someone to get more customers to buy spa packages. Diane walked in, and Phyllis ended the call. In light of their truce, Diane was hoping she’d get full access to The Grand Phoenix gym and spa. Phyllis believed that the GCAC’s equipment was adequate. Diane figured she could be honest, now that they were family – she felt Phyllis’s equipment was a cut above. In addition, Diane loved Astrid, the masseuse at The Grand Phoenix. Phyllis said the two hotels had an agreement not to poach each other’s clients, and the spa was booked. Diane thought she heard Phyllis saying she was desperate for more clients. Phyllis claimed Diane misunderstood. Phyllis added that she had the right to refuse service to anyone. Diane said she wasn’t doing anything wrong. Phyllis noted that Diane had been escorted off the premises before. Diane countered that this happened back when they were bitter rivals. If that ban still held, it meant the truce wasn’t real. Diane said she knew people would be disappointed by that. “Are you gonna tattle on me if I don’t give you an appointment at my hotel?,” Phyllis asked. Summer walked up. Diane explained that she wanted to spend money at Phyllis’s hotel, since Phyllis had been generous enough to declare a truce. Summer told Phyllis that was a nice gesture. Phyllis changed her tune and welcomed Diane with open arms.

Summer was impressed the truce was off to a promising start. Diane said she’d do anything for Kyle. Phyllis replied that she’d also do anything for her children. She added that she’d done things for Kyle when he didn’t have a mom around. Diane said that since she would be working so closely at Marchetti, it was imperative that they got along. Phyllis pretended there was a cancellation, which meant there was suddenly room at the spa for Diane. She said she’d gift Diane a very special resurrection spa treatment. Diane replied that she was dying to hear more. Phyllis said people described it as feeling like coming back from the dead. Diane thought that sounded too expensive, but she was worth it. Diane called Summer her good luck charm, since a spa appointment just happened to open up when Summer arrived. Phyllis welcomed Diane to the spa, and Diane left for her appointment.

Summer asked Phyllis what that was. Phyllis said she was trying her best to keep the peace, while Diane was being passive-aggressive, acting like an angel. “What I heard was Diane not taking the bait from you,” Summer replied. Summer knew this wasn’t easy, but she loved that Phyllis was trying. Summer said she and Kyle were counting on Phyllis to take the high road. Phyllis suggested it wasn’t a good idea to trust Diane to work at Marchetti. Summer asked if Phyllis was trying to make trouble. Phyllis insisted that she was just trying to protect Summer. Phyllis stated that Summer was too young to remember what Diane was like and what she’d done to Phyllis. Summer thought Diane was just eager to get back to work. Summer explained that she and Kyle were just trying to set Diane up for success. Phyllis was stunned that Summer had accepted Diane as an accepted member of this family. She assumed Kyle and Jack had accepted Diane too.

Summer said the question wasn’t whether they’d all accepted Diane – it was about why Phyllis felt the need to plant seeds of doubt. Phyllis said she was trying to be the voice of reason, but Summer thought Phyllis was doing this because of something that happened recently. Summer wanted to know why Phyllis and Jack broke up. Summer knew it had something to do with Diane. Phyllis said what was done was done. Summer said she wouldn’t judge if Phyllis made a mistake and did something to push Jack away. “I find it very interesting that you think I was the one who was wrong,” Phyllis replied. Summer reminded Phyllis that she’d previously admitted to Summer that she screwed up. Summer asked what happened. Phyllis said to ask Jack. Summer had, and he told her there was nothing to tell. Summer wasn’t going to accept that, because she saw that Phyllis and Jack were both hurting. Phyllis couldn’t accept that Jack let Diane back into the family after everything that bitch had done to Phyllis. Phyllis was sorry about what happened, and she felt bad. Summer implored Phyllis to open up about what happened.

At the Abbott house, Allie told Jack that she wanted to take the internship at Jabot. He was delighted, and he was sure Ashley would be too. Allie didn’t want anyone to think that she was trying to take advantage of the Abbott family. She wanted to be sure that he wasn’t offering her this internship because of her DNA. She wanted this opportunity to be based purely on merit and not out of guilt he felt for missing out on years with her dad. It never crossed his mind that she came her for mercenary reasons. He thought Jabot was lucky ot have someone with her graduate education in that position. He said there were discussions that she might get bored. She was sure that wouldn’t happen, because she loved the Jabot lab. He was thrilled she was interested in learning the family business and sticking around for awhile. She felt like she was starting to find her footing. Noah dropped by, and Jack left for a meeting.

Noah asked how Allie felt about surprises. In general, she hated them, but she said she’d try to keep an open mind. He had an old radio mystery show for her to listen to. It wasn’t online, so he put it on an old mp3 player for her. She chuckled about the ancient technology and said she thought she’d heard of mp3 players. She told him he was full of surprises. She didn’t know how to turn the mp3 player on, so he helped her, and he gave her a set of earbuds to listen now, because he wanted to see her reaction. She didn’t want to be observed like a science experiment. She handed him an earbud so he could listen too.

Allie and Noah had a montage of moments enjoying the podcast. She said it was like stepping into a time machine back to the streets of London in 1919. She said this was way better than a movie. He said there was one thing they were missing. She said popcorn. She was a popcorn making expert, since it was simple science. They playfully argued over who got to keep the mp3 player while she made popcorn, and they eventually decided to go to the kitchen together. They returned with popcorn and debated who the killer was. Noah suggested a bet – if he was right, she’d owe him six hours of her life – they’d hang out, and she had to laugh at all his jokes. She said if she won, he’d have to go running with her, and she was considering training for a marathon. They shook on the wager and resumed the radio mystery.

Just before the end of the radio episode, Allie and Noah trash talked each other. He joked that she really was an Abbott, and she teased back that he sounded like a true Newman. They played the story again, and he was going to say something, but she rested her finger on his lips. The touch caught them both off guard, and they looked at each other, then leaned in for a kiss. Before their lips touched, the radio story got their attention again. The killer was someone out of left field that neither of them guessed. He said she was more wrong than he was, but she contended that there were no shades of wrong. She thought the mp3 player was a cute gift, and she called it an antique.

Kyle found Tessa and Mariah at Crimson Lights. He didn’t notice their somber mood, and he went on and on about scoring great seats for Summer and himself to Tessa’s upcoming concert. He said Summer had been singing all the songs. Kyle finally saw the look on Tessa’s face and asked what was wrong. Mariah said Tessa had an appointment with a specialist this morning, and she was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules. The doctor recommended surgery followed by vocal training. Tessa would have to postpone her tour indefinitely. Kyle was so sorry. Tessa said she had so much riding on this tour. She was worried about what all this time out of the spotlight would do to her career. Mariah said Tessa’s health was most important. This wasn’t ideal, Mariah conceded, but at least it wasn’t more serious. She assured Tessa that they’d do all they could to preserve Tessa’s voice and career. Tessa tried to be optimistic, but she felt like she was disappointing her fans. Kyle said the fans would rally around Tessa and support her. Kyle suggested a second opinion. Mariah said they were meeting Elena soon – her uncle Jett had something similar, and she was instrumental in his recovery.

Kyle put a positive spin on things and said this would give Tessa and Mariah more time to focus on the adoption plans. Mariah said they put that on hold for awhile to deal with this. Tessa said that Mariah thought Tessa should heal first. Mariah promised they’d meet their child. They shifted gears, and Mariah said everyone at Jabot was buzzing about Kyle being back. Tessa said no one was more excited than Mariah. Kyle broke the news that he was the new CEO of Marchetti. Tessa was excited, but Mariah didn’t want Kyle to ditch her at Jabot. He said he wasn’t ditching anyone, or leaving Jabot, he was just running the newest acquisition. It had been fun running the family business with his dad, but when Summer came to him with this proposition, he couldn’t say no. he hoped Mariah would eventually be happy for him. Mariah said Kyle being home was amazing, and he’d even made Summer likable. Kyle was glad Mariah finally liked Summer. Kyle said that Summer was the love of his life.

Elena arrived, and Kyle went to meet his dad. Elena mentioned having a plane to catch to Hawaii. Elena sat down with Mariah and Tessa. Tessa asked if her singing career was over. After talking to Tessa’s doctor and after her experience with her uncle, Elena believed Tessa would recover. Unfortunately, there were no promises, Elena said, but she thought Tessa should be optimistic about her recovery as long as she continued to follow doctor’s recommendations. Tessa asked about Elena’s uncle. According to Elena, Jett had the surgery, and he went on tour, and he’d just released a new single. Tessa asked about a time frame. That was hard to predict, so Elena said to think of this as a detour and not to rush the recovery. Elena said Tessa’s voice was her instrument, and she should protect it. The ENT Tessa saw was a good doctor, in Elena’s view – the same one her uncle saw. Elena would give some recommendations if Tessa wanted a second opinion. Tessa said it couldn’t hurt. Elena loved this part of her job – giving people good news.

Kyle and Jack met at Society after Jack’s business meeting. Kyle asked how Jack was. Jack hoped this wasn’t another interrogation about his relationship with Phyllis. He didn’t want to talk about his romantic life with his son. Kyle didn’t want to talk about Jack’s love life either, but he needed to know if Diane had something to do with Jack and Phyllis’s breakup. Kyle said Phyllis and Jack were happy at Mariah and Tessa’s wedding, and they spent the night together, which Kyle knew because Jack admitted it. Then something went wrong. Jack said that the details were no one’s business but Jack and Phyllis’s. Kyle saw how sad Phyllis looked the other night when she saw them all with Diane. Kyle knew his mom stirred the pot by inviting Phyllis to join them. Jack said that wasn’t ideal. Kyle needed to know if this new relationship he was building with his mother would work. “Did my mother do something to sabotage what was happening between you and Phyllis?,” Kyle asked.

Jack was only telling Kyle this so he didn’t misinterpret things or blame Diane for this. Jack didn’t’ trust Diane, but it wouldn’t be fair if she got blamed for this. Jack explained that he and Phyllis had grown closer, and they were taking it slowly, and he’d thought they might take their relationship to the next level. Eventually, he learned that his relationship with Phyllis had grown physical because of Diane’s reappearance.

He’d thought he and Phyllis were in a good place – they’d agreed not to rush things. Phyllis was there when he learned about Keemo and when they found out Diane was alive. Kyle didn’t think Phyllis would intentionally use Jack – she might be reckless, but she didn’t lie about her feelings. Jack said it didn’t matter if Phyllis’s feelings were real. He said that Phyllis’s worst attributes came out to play when Diane returned. All the things Phyllis claimed she’d gotten beyond, and all the things that Jack had told Phyllis that she’d outgrown came back. Jack said it turned out he was wrong about Phyllis changing. Kyle thought it was like Jack was more willing to give Diane the benefit of the doubt than Phyllis. Jack said he had decades of history with Phyllis, and she always reverted to type. He contended that Phyllis couldn’t help herself, and he couldn’t live with the constant threat of her going back to her old self. Kyle didn’t understand what Phyllis did. Jack said Phyllis made sure Diane witnessed what he’d foolishly thought was a meaningful intimate moment between him and Phyllis.

Kyle was sorry about what happened to Jack. He was also concerned Phyllis hated his mother enough to use his father to drive her point home. He wondered if Phyllis and Diane would have a showdown. Jack had wondered the same thing. Kyle said Phyllis claimed she put the past with Diane behind her, but if she’d relapsed that easily, she could do so again. “And if our mothers go to war, what could that do to me and Summer?,” Kyle asked.

Back at the hotel, Phyllis talked to Summer. Phyllis said that things were going well between her and Jack, then she screwed up and made a mistake that the old her would’ve made. Phyllis said having Diane come into her life turned everything upside down, and she made a knee-jerk reaction because Diane pushed her buttons. Phyllis admitted she’d escalated the speed of her relationship with Jack because Diane was in town, and she rubbed Diane’s nose in it. But that didn’t make Jack less important to Phyllis. She said he didn’t seem to understand her feelings for him were real. “What was gonna happen between Jack and I was inevitable. It was gonna happen. I pushed it along. Did I stick Diane’s nose in it? Yeah, I did. And you know what? It felt good and it was a bonus. But Jack knows me well enough to know that I’m sorry,” Phyllis said. She was adamant that her feelings for Jack were real.

Diane was coming back from the spa, and she stopped to eavesdrop on the discussion. Summer didn’t judge Phyllis, but she said Jack was one of the most wonderful men she’d ever met, and he deserved better treatment than Phyllis showed him.

Update written by Chris

At ll Giardino, Paris recites her vows.  Carter waits for Paris to finish. Ridge shakes his head at Paris and Carter getting married.

Outside, Quinn rides up to ll Giardino on the bike. Quinn sets the bike down and runs in to the wedding. No one sees her yet.  Carter senses Quinn’s presence and turns, then sees her, standing there, shocked. He says her name.  Everyone at the wedding party looks up.

Katie and Donna chat at Brooke’s place. Donna mentions the increased security to keep them safe from Sheila. Katie points out that Ridge also has heavy security for both Brooke and Taylor.

Meanwhile, Taylor reads at home.  Thomas comes in from surfing; he’s staying with her to keep her safe, despite Ridge’s security.

Sheila is still with Finn and begs him to wake up. She hugs him, saying she can’t lose him again.

Taylor and Thomas sit down at a table to have fruit and talk about Sheila. She still blames herself for not seeing the real Sheila. She wonders if she’s still in L.A. Thomas wonders how Sheila can live with herself after killing her own son.

Carter asks Quinn why she’s at the wedding. She sees the ring in his hand and sighs with relief. She apologizes to everyone for interrupting but insists that she has something to say.

Thomas asks Taylor to let him know if she goes to the office or anywhere, so he can keep an eye on her. She just plans to work at home.  He also wonders if Taylor has spent time with Ridge. Taylor jokingly coughs “Parent Trap” into her hand. Taylor explains that if something happens, it’s great; but if not, it’s okay. Thomas hopes that Ridge realizes that his future is with her, not Brooke.

Donna explains to Katie about her love life with Eric.  Katie doesn’t know what to say at first.  She tells her that Eric said he loved her and that Quinn is going to ll Giardino to stop Carter’s wedding.

Back at ll Giardino, Paris tells Quinn that they’re in the middle of  their wedding and to leave.  Carter is stunned into silence aft first. He looks over at Ridge, who shakes his head. Bill says that this has got to be good. Quinn tells him that she still loves him and that things have changed. She states that she can’t let him go. The others in the room just shake their heads.

Taylor and Thomas look at her photos on the phone of Steffy’s kids.  She frets about how Sheila has ruined their lives.  Thomas agrees that life has changed for Steffy, but they’ll be all right. He steers the conversation back to Ridge, so she throws grapes playfully at him. He points out that Ridge is not technically back together with Brooke, so he thinks he may realize she’s better for him.

Katie is shocked that Quinn went to try and stop Carter from marrying Paris. She notes that there’s a lot to unpack there.  Katie asks Donna if Quinn’s marriage to Eric is over now.  Donna says that what she and Eric have is really beautiful.  Katie thinks that’s called love, and Donna agrees.

Back at the wedding, Quinn tells Carter what she feels in her heart about him. Ridge asks what this is all about. Quinn responds that this is about her love for Carter.  He asks about her marriage to Eric, so she holds up her left hand, which has no ring. She tells everyone that her marriage to Eric is over. She goes on to say that Eric wants to be with Donna. Ridge wants to know more, but Quinn tells him that they’ll discuss it later. She just wants to be with Carter, the man she loves.

Paris is annoyed when Quinn mentions that Carter doesn’t really want to marry her. Quinn gives a big speech about how much she loves Carter.  Paris implores him not to listen to Quinn.

Sheila says aloud, “Why did you lie to me, Li?” Then she has a flashback to Li’s SUV accident. Sheila tells Finn, “Mama’s here… I am always here.”

Donna and Katie continue to discuss Quinn going off to be with Carter.  Katie is happy about Donna being with Eric.

Back at ll Giardino, Ridge says they should give Quinn and Carter a chance to talk.  Paris is not having this and wants to be married to Carter. She insists that he make it clear to Quinn that he doesn’t want her.  Quinn tells Carter more about how much she loves him.

Carter turns to Paris; he takes her hand and kisses it gently.  Then he caresses her cheek.  Then Carter turns toward Quinn with a smile, and she runs into his arms. They kiss. Everyone else looks shocked.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Paulina visits Lani at the police station and asks how she’s doing. Lani says she’s hanging on. Lani mentions that Justin told her how Paulina put the screws to Melinda to get this plea deal and thanks her. Paulina tells her she doesn’t need to ever thank her. Paulina says she spent 30 years pretending that Lani wasn’t her daughter so she’s not letting anyone take her away from her.

Eli is at home with Julie, staring at a photo of he and Lani. Julie tells Eli that it’s time and she’s going to dress the twins. Julie encourages that prison is just a short drive away and that they will take the twins to visit Lani every chance they get. Julie goes to get the twins while Rafe arrives at the door. Rafe tells Eli that he’s sorry to do this, but there’s a problem with Lani’s deal.

Brady goes to visit Kristen in her holding cell.

Eli asks Rafe if Melinda is backing out of the deal. Rafe explains that Lani’s problem isn’t with Melinda or the deal. Eli asks what’s going on. Rafe reveals the problem is with the prisoner they already have in custody.

Kristen tells Brady that she’s surprised to see him. Brady points out that she used her only phone call to reach out to him. Kristen hoped he would bring their daughter Rachel to see her but he didn’t. Brady says he’s just trying to protect Rachel since it’s getting harder to keep the truth that her mother is a criminal from her as she gets older.

Xander eats alone in the town square as Chanel walks by. Xander calls her his favorite ex-wife. Chanel apologizes about the other day as she thought Sarah knew they had been married. Xander tells her not to worry as Sarah is fine with it and has no problem with it all. Sarah then appears and yells at Chanel to get the hell away from him. Chanel thought Xander said Sarah didn’t have a problem with her. Sarah grabs a knife and says she warned her to stay away. Xander and Chanel question what the hell she’s doing. Sarah responds that she’s saving Xander’s life from Kristen DiMera.

Kristen questions if Brady came down to insult her because he didn’t think she was suffering enough. Brady clarifies that he came to ask if she framed him for what happened to Philip and if she knows if Philip is dead or alive. Kristen assures that she had nothing to do with Philip’s disappearance and asks why he even cares. Brady questions why she would even ask him that. Kristen argues that it’s obvious Brady cares because if Philip is alive then he might just come between Brady and Chloe.

Lani knows Paulina risked everything for her, so she will tell them that she asked her to lie. Paulina insists that she’ll be fine. Lani worries that Melinda won’t let this go. Paulina says she’s not afraid of Melinda. Lani talks about trying to keep quiet but being haunted by TR and seeing him everywhere she went, so she knew it would not stop unless she did something about it.

Theo and Abe sit together at the Brady Pub. Theo says maybe he shouldn’t leave today but Abe encourages that he has to live his life and that Lani understands. Theo says when they found out Lani was not really his sister, he thought things might change but if anything, they grew closer and he knows it’s the same for Abe. Abe states that he’s blessed to have two wonderful children in Theo and Lani. Abe adds that he could not love them more.

Rafe tells Eli that it’s no secret that there’s bad blood between Lani and Vivian Alamain. Eli questions what Vivian has to do with Lani’s plea deal. Rafe informs him that he just got word that Vivian knows Lani is set to enter the prison and she has made it clear that Lani is on her hit list. Rafe mentions that Vivian has been thrown in solitary but she has dangerous allies on the inside, who would not hesitate to hurt Lani, so it’s not safe for her there. Eli asks what the alternative is. Rafe says the alternative is that Lani serve her sentence in another facility out of state. Eli questions how they would visit and worries that Lani would go crazy without her kids. Rafe says he just doesn’t see any other way. Eli thinks he has an idea as to how this will work.

Xander takes the knife away from Sarah and tells her that Chanel is not Kristen. Chanel questions what is going on. Sarah realizes her mistake and apologizes to Chanel. Chanel says she has some place to be and rushes off. Sarah asks Xander what she did. Xander tells her it’s okay. Sarah can’t believe this is still happening and that she can’t get away from Kristen DiMera.

Kristen asks Brady if he and Chloe are together. Brady questions how she knew that. Kristen says she makes it her business to know what or who the father of her child is doing. Brady responds that he won’t deny it and confirms that he and Chloe are together despite Kristen’s best efforts to try to keep them apart. Kristen guesses she was right then that Brady just wanted to be with Chloe while claiming to be in love with her. Kristen insists that she’s not giving up on Rachel or him. Kristen declares that Chloe may have won this battle but she will win the next. Brady argues that this is not war or a battle, it’s his life. Brady asks how many people she wants to make collateral damage and declares that her inserting herself in he and Rachel’s life will never happen.

Theo tells Abe that his mom’s side of the family is far from traditional but he saw how Stefano loved Kristen and Peter just as much as his biological children. Abe agrees that family is what you make of it. Theo says they better get to the police station to see Lani. Abe says he needs to make one stop on the way.

Lani tells Paulina that she watched her and Abe be so happy and hopeful about their future when she realized she couldn’t live with this lie any longer. Lani asks if Paulina understands why she had to take responsibility for TR’s murder. Paulina knows all too well what it’s like having TR haunt her. Paulina adds that because of Lani, TR won’t be able to hurt anyone anymore so she saved them and she will be forever grateful. Paulina adds that she’ll be the first in line on her visiting days as they hug.

Eli asks Rafe what he thinks of his idea. Rafe responds that he thinks he hates it, but he’ll make some calls and see if he can make it happen. Eli thanks him. Rafe tells him to hang in and that it will all work out. Rafe then exits. Julie comes back out and Eli claims he was just talking to Rafe about some stuff from today. Eli then tells Julie that he needs to talk to her and suggests she have a seat. Julie asks if Lani is okay. Eli says Lani is fine and then sits with Julie. Eli reveals that it looks like Lani will have to spend her time a bit further away from home than they expected. Julie calls that terrible and says her heart would break in two if Eli and the twins had to move far away. Eli hopes she doesn’t mean that because they can’t be far away from Lani, so they may have to leave Salem.

Kristen asks Brady what collateral damage he’s talking about. Brady asks if she wants a list of the people who have gotten hurt in her crossfire. Brady brings up Sarah. Kristen asks what about her. Brady argues that Kristen stole Sarah’s life so she’s an innocent victim in one of her schemes. Kristen argues that Sarah and Xander are back together so there’s no harm, no foul. Brady says that’s wrong as even from in here, Kristen is still torturing Sarah.

Sarah complains that she’s been on the adjusted dose for two weeks and she thought this was going to stop. Xander reminds her that Marlena said it might take some time and encourages her to breathe. Sarah remarks that Kristen’s probably thousands of miles from Salem now. Rafe then walks up and reveals that’s not true as Kristen is down at the police station in custody which surprises Xander. Rafe adds that Kristen is waiting to be sent back to prison where he hopes they lock her up and throw away the key. Rafe then walks away.

Eli tells Julie that if Rafe can make it happen, there’s a minimum security facility in Maryland that’s a 30 minute drive from Valerie’s house in Washington DC. Julie asks what about his job. Eli responds that a good cop can always find work and that his old FBI mentor Billy is always asking him to rejoin so he’s sure he can find him a job in the office in DC. Julie says it sounds like a plan then. Eli hopes so. Julie hopes it all works out. Julie says she will get the twins. Julie stops and states that she knew she would be saying goodbye to Lani today but she didn’t expect to be losing Eli and the twins too.

Abe joins Paulina and Lani at the police station. They tell him not to cry. Abe asks Lani to sign papers before she goes as Abe wants to officially adopt her. Abe calls her his daughter in every way that counts, so he just wants to make it legal.

Brady informs Kristen that thanks to the drug she injected Sarah with and the extra dose that Gwen gave her, Sarah is having hallucinations and almost attacked Victor. Kristen remarks that Victor’s always had a way of bringing out violent impulses. Brady argues that Kristen can’t take responsibility for her actions. Kristen points out that she is in here. Brady feels she has zero empathy for the people she’s hurt. Brady warns that he has to think long and hard about whether it’s a good idea for her to see Rachel ever again. Kristen argues that he doesn’t get to decide that as she is her mother. Brady shows her the Valentine that her daughter made for her mother. Kristen points out that he’s 4 months late. Brady explains that he didn’t know where to send it, but he held on to it so he could give it to her. Brady tells her that after they transfer her to prison, they will talk again. Brady then exits.

Sarah tells Xander that she’s going to see Kristen. Xander doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Sarah argues that Kristen and Gwen are the reason she’s like this. Xander wants to at least go with her but Sarah feels she needs to do this alone. Xander warns her about how dangerous Kristen can be. Sarah argues that she’s locked up and there are guards and iron bars between them so there’s nothing Kristen can do to hurt her anymore. Sarah then walks away while Xander worries about what Sarah could do to Kristen.

Julie tells Eli that she sees traits of his father in him. Julie talks about how her son David was so young when his life was cut short, but then Eli came to Salem and was a wonderful gift. Julie calls it almost like having another son even though she didn’t raise him, but they really bonded. Julie says they are completely different but they are kindred spirits. Julie knows that Eli knows they are always on each others’ team, like right now. Julie cries that she wants to keep him in Salem forever but she won’t because him leaving is what’s right for his family. Julie admits he’s going to hurt like hell to let him go. Eli hugs Julie as she cries.

Chanel joins Theo at the police station and asks what’s going on in the interrogation room. Theo reveals that Abe is officially adopting Lani. Chanel and Theo acknowledge that this makes them family too.

Lani tells Abe that she had no idea he was doing this. Abe calls it a last minute thing and says he will file it with the county clerk so they’ll be good to go. Lani calls it already a done deal in her heart as she signs the papers. Lani then declares that the records can show she is his daughter. Lani says there is one other thing that needs to be made right before she goes. Lani tells Paulina that she’s always made it a point to let her know that Tamara would always be her mother and Paulina would be her Aunty P, but now she sees all Paulina has done for her and the sacrifices she made so she can say for sure that Paulina is her mother too.

Julie tells Eli that it’s time to get him and the twins ready to go to the police station to be with Lani. Eli responds that he’s not ready yet as he’d like to spend a few more moments with her. Eli turns on the record player and asks Julie for one last dance before he goes, so they dance together. Julie recognizes the song as one of David’s favorites. Eli admits he picked it out of the collection she gave him when he first came to Salem. Julie says she will miss him a lot. Eli says he’ll be back before she knows it and that Doug and Julie better visit. Julie jokes that they’ll never leave. Eli looks forward to it because he wants them to be part of Jules and Carver’s lives.

Paulina hugs Lani and asks if she really looks at her as her mother now. Lani talks about how Paulina has tried to protect her from the day she was born, even when she didn’t know it, and that’s what a mother does. Lani acknowledges that Paulina sacrificed her own happiness for her and fought for her, so she’s so thankful to have her in her life. Lani and Paulina say they love each other as they hug.

Kristen remains in her cell, holding Rachel’s Valentine, as Sarah arrives and remarks that it looks like someone finally has a heart.

Lani thanks Chanel and Theo for being there and says she loves them so much. Chanel congratulates them all on Abe adopting Lani. Lani comments that the day isn’t all that bad. Eli arrives with Julie and asks if he missed some good news. Lani announces that Abe surprised her by adopting her. Abe states that she’s already his daughter so they’re going to make it official again. Eli calls that great news but announces that he has some news as well. Eli informs them of the situation causing Paulina to complain about Vivian. Eli declares that he’s afraid Lani going to Statesville is not an option, so Lani asks where she is going. Eli explains that there is a minimum security facility in Maryland so Rafe is trying to work out a transfer. Abe questions it being in Maryland. Eli notes that it’s a short drive from his mom’s house in DC, so if Rafe can make this happen then he and the twins are going with Lani. Lani questions Eli moving to DC. Paulina questions the twins moving. Lani thinks they should talk about this before Eli decides anything. Rafe comes over and announces that it’s done and he got the approval, so Lani can serve out her sentence in Maryland and as far as prisons go, it’s a nice, safe place. Lani can’t believe Eli is doing this for her. Eli responds that everything he does is for her. Rafe is glad it worked out for Lani but admits it’s a drag to be losing two of his best cops and best friends. Lani thanks Rafe and hugs him as he tells her to take care of herself. Eli hugs Rafe and says he will miss him.

Sarah tells Kristen that thanks to her and her partner in crime, she’s been seeing her face all over town. Kristen responds that she heard about her hallucinations. Sarah complains that Kristen destroyed her life and she’s doing everything she can to get it back. Kristen wishes her luck with that. Sarah says at least she knows the real Kristen is in here so she can’t hurt anyone else. Sarah hopes they never let her out. Sarah then exits.

Rafe decides he will let them all say their goodbyes and then he will have Eli take Lani to transport. Rafe then exits the station. Julie encourages Lani to be strong for Eli and their babies. Lani agrees to do her best and she’ll ask herself what would Julie do as they hug. Chanel and Theo tell Lani that they just got used to having a big sister around. Lani assures that they still will and she will be calling to ask about their love life. Lani tells them to make her proud as she hugs them. Lani tells Abe that she knows they just made it official, but she doesn’t know what she would’ve done without him the last few years. Abe encourages that she would’ve done alright. Abe declares that his world is a better place because she’s in it and he loves her forever and a day. Lani tells him the same as they hug. Abe tells Eli to take care of Lani. Young & The Restless Update

Recap written by Christine

At Crimson Lights, Nikki told Victor that she hoped whatever this plan he had about Victoria worked. Victor didn’t have news, but he had a good feeling about this. Nikki said there was very little basis for Victor’s optimism. He looked at his phone and said that the pilot had some interesting news about the company jet. Nick joined his parents on the patio. Victor said the Newman pilot told him that Victoria filed a flight plan from NY to Genoa City. Nick asked how many passengers. Victor said Victoria was by herself. Nikki was relieved, but Nick thought they should wait and see what this meant. Billy walked up and wondered why everyone was so serious.

Victor told Billy that this was a family discussion and said he should go work on his stupid podcast. Billy said his team would be thrilled Victor listened. Billy wanted to hear what was going on with Victoria. He wasn’t happy he had to tell the kids Victoria moved away, but he was thrilled she finally broke free of the man who’d been pulling her strings since she was in diapers. Nick said they didn’t know anything specific, and this was a family matter. Billy was sure he’d hear from Victoria before they did, since they shared kids. He left. Nikki was glad Billy was gone, and Victor called him a pain in the ass. Nick said they needed to focus on Victoria instead of Billy.

Nikki hoped Victoria realized she made a mistake. However, she wondered if Victoria was coming back to confront Victor for discouraging all the potential investors. Nick suggested that Ashland realized he’d always be facing this level of hostility, and he decided to break things off with Victoria instead. Nikki couldn’t bear the thought of that man hurting Victoria again. Victor decided to believe Victoria was in control and that she chose to come home. Nikki asked what Victor was going to do about Adam. Victor wasn’t making any decisions until he talked to Victoria. Nick thought that was wise.

Victoria was in the suite packing her bags when Ashland came in and asked what was going on. He asked if she was sneaking off without him, and she said of course not. She asked why he was back so soon. He forgot his tablet, and he needed it to show proof that they could afford the building. He noted that they’d put their money in a joint account together. He wondered why she wasn’t at the lawyer’s office, like she said she’d be. Ashland noticed a text from Victor on Victoria’s phone. They both reached for her phone, but he got there first. “Jet is on the way. Are you alright?” Victor had said.

Ashland told Victoria not to lie to him. She said she wasn’t going to lie, since she had no reason to. She was taking a jet to Genoa City. He asked if Victor got to her somehow. She said this decision was hers and hers alone. He guessed this separation had been more challenging than she thought. She admitted she regretted some of the things she’d said to her family, but she did it out of necessity. He asked if she was having second thoughts about leaving her family. “I could never leave my family and the fact that you would think that shows how little you know me,” she replied. He was confused. He asked if she was going back to ask her family’s forgiveness without even telling him. She said she had every intention of telling him everything. She’d planned to have some time to compose herself before talking to him, but she said he came home early and caught her off guard.

You and I will not be forming a new corporation together. And this move to NY was not about starting a new life with you. It was a calculated move to cut ties with you. To end your connection with me and my family for good,” Victoria announced. She triumphantly said Ashland did everything she expected him to do – he’d agreed to invest his own money, and he transferred what was left of the 500 million her father gave him into a joint account. She’d drained that account, and now he had exactly what he deserved – nothing. “So maybe now you have a clearer understanding about exactly who I am and what you’re dealing with,” Victoria stated.

Ashland looked at his tablet and saw the bank account was empty. Victoria asked if he thought he had her so enraptured that he could do anything he wanted, and she’d just forgive him. “Every single minute we were together was a lie. It was a massive betrayal. I loved you. I cared about you while you pretended to be overwhelmed by your illness. I suffered at the prospect of watching you die over this nonexistent disease,” she said. Every day she’d felt dread about his death. Victoria said that when she found out the truth, it didn’t just break her heart – it crushed her. She knew he saved her life by pulling her from a burning car, but she wasn’t sure that he’d done it selflessly. He said he saved he because he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her. She said that wasn’t enough to erase what he’d done to her and her family. She didn’t think he deserved to get paid off by her dad, and she knew he only gave half the money to Nick to impress her. She decided not to let him take anything from her family, so she came up with a plan to get the money back by lying to him and deceiving him the way he did to her.

Victoria knew that Ashland had to win at all costs. She wasn’t sure he was even capable of remorse, and certainly not love. She said his fortune was gone, and she knew it hit him right where he lived. He calmly told her that this wasn’t what she wanted. Victoria asked how he’d know. She said she was able to fool him so easily because he thought he had this hold on her that no one could break. “Our love was not a scam. It was real,” he contended. Victoria said it was real on her part, and she’d held onto those residual feelings longer than she should’ve, but everything she said after she got back from Switzerland was a lie. He said he should’ve known something was wrong when she insisted on taking things slowly. She said he wanted to believe her, which was the secret of any successful con. He congratulated her on getting him. She was dying to know how it felt to be so completely wrong about her – to be bested and stripped of his ill-gotten gains. He told her she’d just committed fraud. She laughed and said that was rich coming from him, someone who’d lived his adult life under a fraudulent name, who built a fortune on a stolen inheritance and defrauded everyone into thinking he was dying of cancer. He said she was stooping to his level for money, or did she did this to prove she could do it. She dared him to accuse him of anything. She said she had proof of what he was capable of, and she could destroy his lie with one phone call. He asked if she felt triumph. He asked if it was worth it, and she said yes.

Ashland told Victoria that her father would be proud of who she’d become. She said it was so predictable that he’d use her relationship with her father to try and get her to second guess herself. She reiterated that this plan was all hers. She took satisfaction in crushing him the way he’d tried to crush her. She said she’d left him with nothing but what he had before he masqueraded his way into her life and tricked her into loving him. “Oh you know what – actually, it’s even less, because your company has been absorbed into Newman Enterprises. Your name and your presence are completely wiped from the building. And you are now what you always should have been. Nothing and no one,” she snapped. “I loved you with all my heart and soul,” he stated. She’d predicted he’d say that, but she said he didn’t have a heart or soul. Ashland asked what Victoria expected him to do. She thought he saw her as someone he could manipulate, and as someone who couldn’t live without him. She said she was looking forward to living without him, and she didn’t care what he did. She didn’t want to see or hear from him ever again. She took her bags and left, leaving the door open. He slammed the door shut.

At her office, Sally told Adam that Chloe didn’t have to like him to be an amazing right hand for Sally. He conceded the point. He wanted Sally to have whatever she needed here, and if she wanted Chloe, he supported that. Sally thought Chloe might end her partnership with Chelsea, and Sally wanted to scoop Chloe up before anyone else did. Adam said he saw Chelsea earlier, and she was struggling, and true to form, she was using work as a crutch. Sally thought Chloe was at the end of her rope. Adam said things would be even more of an issue if Chelsea accepted the gig to do a line for Marchetti. Sally was shocked Marchetti was switching designers. Adam explained that Chloe didn’t want Chelsea to take the job at Marchetti, because she didn’t think Chloe could handle the workload she already had. Adam knew Chloe was right, and he’d told Chelsea as much. Adam said Chelsea wasn’t listening to reason. Sally said that she could tell Chloe had just about had it, and it was causing a strain on the partnership and the friendship. Sally suggested that parting ways was the best for both Chelsea and Chloe.

Adam called Sally Madame CEO and told her to hire Chloe. He warned her again that Chloe hated him and always would. Sally asked if Adam hated Chloe back. He didn’t have a problem with Chloe. He had total faith in Sally’s judgment. She said he was the only one to ever say that. He didn’t think that his old conflict with Chloe would be a stumbling block, but he just wanted Sally to keep that in mind during negotiations. Sally said she’d just focus on how great it was to work here and what a fabulous job she knew Chloe would do. Adam said now that the media division was in good hands, he’d focus on different areas. He thought dissolving the partnership would be good for Chelsea, so she could take the job at Marchetti. Sally loved how supportive Adam was of the people who mattered to him, including her. They smiled at each other. He got a text about the Newman jet being on en route to NY. He’d booked it to go to Pittsburgh with Connor for a ballgame tonight. He figured Victor must be the one who bumped him, since he was one of the few people with the authority to do so.

Adam wondered why Victor would be going to NY. He called the pilot to ask what was going on, and he was shocked to learn that Victoria was the one who requested the jet. Adam was deflated when he got off the phone. He said the prodigal daughter was coming home, and he was going to get fired. Sally told Adam not to jump to the worst case scenario. He told her she didn’t know these people like he did – Machiavellian behavior was the Newman stock and trade. Sally said that the way Adam described the big blowout with Victoria and the family, where she cut everyone off and left town to parts unknown, didn’t sound like the actions of a woman who planned to come back.

Sally suggested that Victoria regretted the way she’d talked to her family, and she was coming back to make peace with them, while continuing her life with Ashland. Adam said that could be, or maybe Ashland already pulled some new crap that opened Victoria’s eyes. Sally said that if Victoria forgave Ashland’s cancer lies, she probably wasn’t going to turn on him that quickly. Adam said there was a lot they didn’t know. Sally agreed with that. Sally said that even if Victoria was coming to try and get her job back, she’d have Adam to contend with. “Look, we have come way to far, babe. Don’t panic,” Sally said. She told him that he needed to keep a clear head right now. He thanked her and said they had to get more information and figure out what they were dealing with, so they could act accordingly.

Adam found his family still on the Crimson Lights patio. Victor had just announced that the jet would be landing in NY in a couple hours. Nick said that meant Victoria would be home tonight. Adam walked up and said he’d reserved the jet to take Connor to take Connor to see a Brewers/Pirates game. He was annoyed his request was bumped for Victoria, who wasn’t even an employee of the company, and last he checked, didn’t want to be part of the company. Nikki asked if Connor and Adam couldn’t fly commercial. There weren’t any available flights, and Adam said Connor was going to be crushed. Adam felt entitled to know why Victoria was coming to Genoa City and whether this was more than a visit.

At Society, Chelsea and Chloe clashed. Chelsea didn’t think she needed to send a bunch of apologetic texts for being five minutes late. Chloe said Chelsea was over an hour late, and she was being bitchy and picking fights and she wasn’t meeting deadlines. Chelsea said she’d been under a lot of stress too, in case Chloe hadn’t noticed. Chloe had noticed, and she’d tried every way she could to help Chelsea navigate the emotional ups and downs, and all she got in return were put downs and snark. Chloe said things couldn’t go on this way.

Chelsea asked if Chloe was planning to quit and leave her in the lurch. “You wouldn’t possibly consider dissolving our partnership because without me there is no business,” Chelsea snapped. Chloe groused about Chelsea going from zero to sixty. Chloe never said she was quitting. She just wanted to find a better way to work as partners and communicate without Chelsea getting so angry and defensive. Chelsea couldn’t believe she was hearing this from her supposed best friend. Chelsea said collaborations didn’t always go smoothly. Chelsea said not everyone could do what she did. “I am sick of you not appreciating what I bring to the table,” Chelsea said. Chloe was offended Chelsea would say that after all Chloe had done for her.

Chloe contended that she’d come through for Chelsea many times. Chloe knew Chelsea’s medical issues weren’t her fault, but they’d taken her down a dark path, and she’d made Chloe an unwitting co-conspirator. Chelsea thought it was clear that Chloe still held a grudge against her for that. Chloe didn’t hold a grudge, but she said Kevin worked for the police, and if her part in this had come out, they would’ve been in a lot of trouble. Chelsea said that was why she went along with Victor’s plan and confessed and went to the hospital – to protect Chloe. “So please don’t act like this is a one-sided friendship,” Chelsea said. Chloe said that she’d been there when Chelsea wasn’t able to work. Chloe had even worked for Adam to buy Chelsea time. She set up the whole fashion platform so Chelsea had a soft place to land. Near tears, Chloe said she did what it took to keep things going, even though Chelsea kept her dangling, claiming that she wasn’t even sure she wanted the job. Chloe had practically begged Chelsea to take the job, because she knew it would be good for Chelsea and she loved working with her. Chelsea said it didn’t seem like that lately. Chloe found it hurtful and incomprehensible that Chelsea would suggest she wasn’t being a good enough friend or that she didn’t appreciate Chelsea’s talent. Chloe was trying to make the partnership work, but she was also trying to preserve the friendship.

Chloe wanted to focus on solving the work problem. “By which you mean me,” Chelsea replied. Chloe said every time she offered advice or showed concern, Chelsea lashed out and took it personally. Chelsea felt Chloe made it personal because she wouldn’t back off when Chelsea asked her to. Chloe started to say Chelsea was wrong. Chelsea yelled that she was speaking. Chelsea said designing for Marchetti would be a dream, and Chloe wouldn’t even consider it. Chloe just wanted Chelsea to consider that she might be taking on too much. Chelsea didn’t want to be managed. Chloe felt she was just being a responsible partner. Chelsea thought Chloe was being controlling and patronizing. “When I insist I know my own limits, you throw the past in my face. Like I don’t have the emotional fortitude to do my job. It is insulting.” Chelsea exclaimed. Chelsea said Chloe’s attitude wasn’t working. “So if you want out, by all means, be my guest,” Chelsea said.

Chelsea stormed out of Society and past Billy. He asked if she was okay, and she said no. He turned around and followed her to the park. She told him that Chloe was getting on her nerves. He thought it was like that when you worked with people you cared about. He and Lily had their moments of disagreeing too, but they always talked and came to an understanding. She said it used to be that way with Chloe, but lately, Chloe was always pushing her buttons. He said the people who knew you best always did. She admitted he was right. She wondered if she was projecting onto Chloe. She said that Chloe had been the best friend she’d ever had. Billy told Chelsea not to start a podcast because it would be a downer and really boring. That made her laugh, and she asked if she’d really said that to him. He said she said that exactly. She said she actually got through to him. He said nothing got to him. Chelsea told Billy not to take it to heart.

Billy said he did take what Chelsea said to heart, because deep down, he knew she was right. She admitted, deep down, he was right about Chloe knowing her well enough to get a rise out of her. Chelsea guessed on some level, what Chloe said made sense. “Maybe I’m not good at gauging my limitations,” Chelsea said. Billy smiled and commented on him and Chelsea acting so maturely.

Sally went back to Society and sat with Chloe. Chloe admitted she was in a lousy mood. Sally wasn’t surprised. She saw Chelsea storm out earlier. Sally was there to offer Chloe an alternative.

Update written by Chris

At the club, Eric and Quinn talk about how they’re ending their marriage. Eric points out that Quinn loves Carter, who’s getting married right now to Paris.

At Il Giardino, the wedding March is played and Paris walks down the aisle. We see her mom Grace, with Carter in the background. Charlie is happy to be there, officiating the ceremony. Charlie refers to Paris as “Future Mrs. COO” and he welcomes everyone to the wedding. Grace doesn’t look happy at all, and Ridge doesn’t look too sure about it, either. Also in attendance or Hope, Zende and Bill. Zende also doesn’t look too happy to be there.

Eric urges Quinn to go. She’s reluctant, at first, but then leaves.

Charlie asks if there is anyone present that believes that Carter and Paris should not be married. Paris looks around to Grace, but there is no reaction. Carter looks around to Ridge, and again, there is no reaction.

Eric looks at his wedding ring thoughtfully. The door opens and Donna comes in, saying she saw Quinn leave. She asks if anything is okay. He holds her hands, and she caresses his cheek.

Quinn calls for the valet, but no one shows up. Quinn tries to get into the box with all the keys in it but can’t. She takes a hairpin out of her hair to try to open it, but it doesn’t work. She walks away, taking her phone out of her pocket.

Eric tells Donna that Quinn left to go find Carter. Donna wonders if he’s sure about this, and he shows her that he’s taken off his ring and that they’re ready to be together. Donna is happy to hear it. He tells her that Quinn was hurt and angry, but she left to stop Carter from marrying Paris. He hopes she can do it.

Quinn tries to phone Carter, but he doesn’t answer. She figures he probably doesn’t have his phone with him, but she leaves a message, anyway. She begs him not to marry Paris before calling her. Quinn is near a bike rental place on the beach, so she takes a bike and rushes off, telling the attendant to charge it to Eric.

Back at the wedding, Carter has a dazed look on his face. Hope gives a speech to say that their family and friends are thrilled that they have found love with each other (although no one looks too thrilled).

Quinn tries to get to the ceremony, speeding down the boardwalk on her bike, yelling at people to get out of her way. Trying to avoid hitting a man, she rides over to the sand, where she falls over after almost getting hit with a volleyball. She gets back up on the bike.

Charlie continues the ceremony. We see flashbacks with Carter and Quinn, to show that Carter is thinking about Quinn. Charlie tells the couple to join hands, but then Ridge interrupts the ceremony. Ridge talks about Carter’s good qualities and says that he’s not usually impulsive, but he is now. He guesses that if Carter is going to do that, he should do it with a “beautiful, amazing woman like Paris.” Ridge goes on and on about how great Paris is but then says that we should all have “true love” (as Hope said in her speech) and we shouldn’t settle for anything less. He’s hinting to Carter that he shouldn’t be marrying Paris if he’s not committed to her. Carter cuts him off by thanking him. He says that his friendship means a lot.  Charlie gets control of the ceremony again. They bow their heads in prayer.

Quinn continues to ride her bike, having her own flashbacks of being with Carter. She gets so hot and bothered thinking of Carter that she has to unbutton her shirt a little. Quinn keeps yelling at people to get out of her way: a skateboarder, a woman bouncing a ball, etc. She cuts through a park as a shortcut.

Carter and Paris prepare to read their own vows. Paris just speaks from her heart. She’s nervous at first and talks about how she fell for Carter unexpectedly. She lists his great qualities. Grace, Zende and Ridge frown throughout the entire ceremony. Carter says that, contrary to Ridge’s speech, he doesn’t feel like he’s acting impulsively. He’s wondering what took him so long to realize what he needs. Charlie tells them that it’s time to exchange rings, so Carter takes them out. Paris places one of the rings on Carter’s finger and repeats the vows after Charlie.

Quinn finally arrives, drops the bike and runs inside. She sees Carter and Paris standing together, smiling, and Charlie is also smiling at them. She looks shocked and perhaps wonders if she’s too late.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Theo and Chanel come out of the Brady Pub together. Theo says she didn’t have to buy his coffee but Chanel feels she owes him because she didn’t want to be alone with Olivia. Theo doesn’t mind and likes that Olivia says everything she feels. Chanel complains that Olivia wants to be in everyone’s business and doesn’t think she’s ready for a gender fluid granddaughter. Theo points out that he didn’t think his parents were ready for a kid on the spectrum but it worked out and they got used to it. Chanel thanks him and says they have enough to worry about. Theo still can’t believe Lani confessed to shooting TR at the wedding. Chanel knew something was bothering her but didn’t know it was that. Theo asks how Paulina is doing. Chanel says it’s killing her that she couldn’t protect Lani which is why she offered to take Olivia to the airport since Abe and Paulina deserve at least one morning together as it’s probably the only honeymoon they are going to get.

Abe and Paulina kiss at Paulina’s apartment. Paulina says she woke up this morning and thought their wedding was just a dream until she saw him beside her. Paulina says she feels truly blessed. Abe responds that two dreams came true in the park yesterday. Paulina calls it their first morning married and says his breakfast is on the table. They take a bite but Paulina says it’s terrible and she must have cooked it too long. Abe understands her mind is on Lani just like his. Paulina complains that she worked Lani’s whole life to protect her from Ray Coates and he got to her anyway. Paulina asks what’s going to happen to their little girl.

Julie visits Eli at home and asks about Lani. Eli says she is strong and has Justin for a lawyer but he has to get Melinda to agree to a plea deal and he’s praying that Justin can keep Lani from doing any prison time. Julie reminds him that everyone at the wedding was willing to take a vow of silence, so she didn’t have to go to the police to turn herself in. Eli says he told her that. They wish Lani listened. Eli says that Lani feels that she has to go through this to get past it. Eli calls her a better person than he is. Eli feels Justin has to cut that deal for her with Melinda Trask.

Justin meets with Melinda in her office to finalize Lani’s plea agreement before the hearing today. Justin thought they made real progress last night on the phone. Justin goes over his terms of one count of involuntary manslaughter doing 2-3 years in a minimum security facility. Justin is pretty sure the judge will sign off on this. Melinda reveals that the judge might, but she will not. Justin argues that’s not what she said last night. Melinda says she gave it more thought and that Lani shot her own father to death, an unarmed man who had done nothing to her. Melinda declares that if he thinks she’s going to let Lani skate then he doesn’t know her very well.

Lani is brought to the interrogation room at the police station as she has a visitor which turns out to be Susan Banks. She claims she had one of her premonitions and that something told her that Lani needed to see her best friend. “Susan” then reveals that she is actually Kristen DiMera, dressed as Susan.

Justin asks Melinda if this is a joke and argues that Ray Coates might not have done anything to Lani on the day that she shot him, but Lani’s husband had just remembered that it was TR that shot him. Justin explains that Lani left Eli’s hospital room and went directly to her mother’s apartment where she found Abe lying on the ground unconscious, so for all she knew, Abe was dead and her mother was next. Melinda tells him to save it as Lani should’ve arrested TR and brought him in. Justin argues that’s why he agreed to 2-3 years. Justin points out that Lani turned herself in and is a decorated police officer with a spotless record. Melinda argues that some things don’t make it on the record. Justin asks if she’s talking about Stefan DiMera and says Lani only fired that shot because Vivian pulled a gun on her and Stefan took the shot. Melinda responds that she’s talking about what Lani did for Kristen.

Lani reminds Kristen that she’s in a building full of cops. Kristen points out that her disguise fooled Lani. Lani brings up that Kristen used this last time she escaped and that the cops will remember. Kristen suggests Lani worry about herself. Lani admits she’s scared to death. Kristen mentions hearing TR shot Eli and says she was not going to leave her to deal with this alone. Kristen declares that Lani got her out of here once, so now she’s going to return the favor. Kristen reveals that everything is all set and by tonight, Lani won’t have to worry about spending a minute behind bars.

Abe tells Paulina that he’s having just as hard of a time getting in to the honeymoon as she is since in every way that counts, Lani is their daughter. There’s a knock at the door and they are surprised to see Beth. Paulina thought she had left town. Beth says she heard what happened to Lani and she had to come tell her how sorry she is for not stopping Ray Coates when she could have.

Chanel and Theo check their phones and find a bunch of articles about Lani’s arrest but nothing about her getting a deal. Theo suggests they give it a while since Abe said the hearing isn’t until this afternoon. Theo says he’s worried about Lani but the press won’t have anything to report until Melinda signs off on a deal. Chanel says he’s better at these things than she is. Theo says he just knows Salem better. Theo adds that them all being at the police station to show support meant a lot to Lani. Theo adds that even with everything that happened, yesterday was amazing, as they had the first Juneteenth celebration in Salem thanks to Abe and Paulina and the wedding was great. Theo brings up Chanel catching the bouquet. Chanel says that doesn’t mean she has to be the next one to get married. Theo points out that she could be, she just has to decide which twin she wants to be with.

Eli and Julie talk about taking care of the kids. Julie encourages Eli not to blame himself for Lani turning herself in to the police. Eli says when he remembered that TR shot him, he blurted it out to Lani when he should’ve called Rafe. Julie argues that he just came out of a coma. Eli says he told Lani right before she went to Paulina’s and shot him. Julie says he had no control over that. Eli adds that he was okay with letting Paulina go to prison for Lani. Julie understands he was trying to protect his family. Eli says that’s what Lani is doing now as she wants the kids to have a mother they can look up to. Eli says he has to get to court and thanks Julie for watching the kids while has a lot going on. Julie tells him to tell Justin to get the best possible deal for Lani that he can out of Melinda Trask. Eli thanks her and exits.

Justin asks Melinda what Kristen DiMera has to do with this. Melinda brings up Kristen stabbing Victor and escaping custody as she was aided by her friend Lani. Justin asks where she gets that. Melinda argues that if Justin really didn’t know about that, it’s because Abe made sure the police closed ranks around Lani. Justin asks where her proof is. Melinda assures that she can prove it and argues that Lani’s record is not spotless as she’s been taking the law in to her own hands whenever she feels like it and getting away with it. Melinda declares that ends today.

Lani tells Kristen that she has to get out of here while she still can because it’s not her job to save her. Kristen questions letting Melinda railroad her. Lani explains that she hired Justin and he’s trying to get her charges reduced to the minimum sentence. Kristen feels that one minute away from her children is one minute too many. Lani knows how much Kristen misses her daughter Rachel. Kristen says if Lani gets sent to prison, she will find out the hard way. Lani responds that she’s at peace with her decision. Lani knows Kristen risked everything coming here and she loves her for it, but she asks her to go now.

Abe questions what Beth could’ve done to change what Lani did. Beth responds that all she had to do was speak up but TR made her tell everyone that he was clean and sober and not violent anymore. Beth admits she knew better but she did it anyway and as usual, he had a way to make her keep her mouth shut which Abe questions. Beth reveals that TR offered her a lousy part in a movie and she went for it. Abe asks what made her come by Eli’s hospital room when he met her. Beth admits she was going to tell Lani about TR but she chickened out. Beth says seeing Lani waiting for Eli to wake up made her unable to get it out of her head. Beth explains that TR found out he couldn’t count on her anymore so he beat her black and blue and told her to leave town. Beth admits after that, she was afraid to do anything. Paulina knows what it’s like to be and live in fear of TR. Paulina assures that Beth can’t blame herself for anything she did or didn’t do after TR beat her since she was just trying to stay alive. Paulina brings up how she gave Lani up because she was so afraid of him. Paulina is glad she can tell the world now that Lani is her daughter. Abe agrees that Beth was not in the right state of mind to come forward. Beth states that everyone is being so nice to her but she feels she doesn’t deserve it because she knew what TR was going to do to her and she didn’t warn her. Paulina questions what she’s talking about.

Justin argues that if all Melinda has on Lani is something she think happened then she’s going to have a tough time with the judge. Melinda reveals that Eli knows Lani let Kristen escape and warns what that will do to Eli’s career when she makes him testify under oath. Justin questions why she’s been sitting on this for all these years then. Melinda states that she does have a heart and gave Lani a pass because she believes in second chances and it did seem like she was the kind of cop that Salem needs, but her instinct was wrong and now she has a chance to correct that error in judgment. Melinda tells Justin that manslaughter is off the table so Justin asks what the charge is going to be.

Kristen tells Lani to go ahead and take the deal but reminds her what happens to cops in prison. Kristen wants to keep her alive and questions why she won’t let her help her. Eli walks in and asks what the hell. Kristen then goes back to pretending to be Susan but Eli yells at her to shut up because he knows it’s Kristen.

Julie takes care of Jules and Carver until Doug shows up at the door.

Beth reveals to Paulina that TR planned to kill Paulina and steal her money which shocks her. Abe gets a call from Belle, who informs him that Melinda is on the warpath and Lani’s deal went south. Paulina declares that they have to make this right.

Kristen continues pretending to be Susan. Eli threatens to pull her wig off, so Kristen admits that it’s her. Lani assures that she had no idea. Kristen argues that best friends don’t abandon best friends in situations like this. Kristen tells Lani that she’s ready to help her, no matter what happens to her. Eli reminds Kristen that she’s a fugitive and orders her to put her hands behind her back. Lani tries to stop Eli but he feels he has no choice and warns how bad it would be if he let her go. Justin walks in so Eli stops and puts his handcuffs away. Justin questions what Susan Banks is doing here. “Susan” claims she had a powerful vision but they won’t listen to her so she asks Justin to listen. She says today is going to be a very good day for Lani. Lani asks Justin what happened. Justin wants to talk to her alone but Lani says it’s fine. Justin thought he had a deal with Melinda last night, but this morning she did a complete 180. Eli questions what the charge is then. Justin reveals that it’s murder one, life without parole.

Julie is surprised to see Doug as she thought he was spending time at home today with Jack and Jennifer because of Abigail. Julie cries that this is all so bad. Doug agrees that it’s as bad as it gets but says Jack and Jennifer needed time alone this morning. Julie feels they would need him to lean on. Doug says that’s why he’s here for Julie to lean on.

Abe and Paulina go to Melinda’s office and confront her over rejecting Justin’s plea deal. Melinda confirms that she intends to ask for a verdict of murder in the first. Paulina says no damn way. Melinda says all she is interested in is justice for TR Coates. Abe argues that murder one requires that she prove premeditation which she cannot do. Melinda tells him to watch her. Melinda calls it her decision, not his. Paulina tells Melinda that both sides can play hard ball. Melinda asks if that’s a threat. Paulina questions if she thinks she’s just going to stand by and watch her railroad her daughter. Melinda asks what exactly she’s going to do to stop her. Abe then brings in Beth. Melinda questions who she is. Paulina introduces Beth as the ace up her sleeve.

Doug tells Julie that he knows how much she loves Eli and that Eli’s never had to face anything like this before. Julie agrees and says he doesn’t deserve it. Julie asks why good people have to deal with so much suffering. Doug says when they do, they are lucky to have someone to lean on as strong as Julie, but she needs someone to lean on too and that’s why he’s here. Julie says just when she thought she couldn’t love him any more as they hug. Julie points out that Lani doesn’t just have her and Eli, she has Justin too. Doug thanks God for that. Julie worries that if Justin can’t get her off, she’s sure he can get her back to her family as soon as possible…

Eli questions how this happened. Justin reminds Lani that he asked if there was anything in her past that he should know about. Justin states that Lani left something out and Melinda knows what it is. Justin reveals that Melinda plans to tell the jury that whenever it works to her advantage, Lani is willing to take the law in to her own hands. Justin assures that he’s not giving up and will do everything he can to help her, but he’s starting from square one. Justin tells her that he will get back to her as soon as he can and exits. Eli complains that what Justin was talking about was the time Lani helped Kristen escape. Kristen tells him to let her help Lani. Eli asks what she has in mind. Kristen reveals she came here to break Lani out. Kristen points out that Melinda is going to have Lani sent to prison immediately. Kristen explains that Lani will get on the prison van and she will take it from there while Eli stays out of her way. Eli tells her not to tell him what to do. Kristen asks if he wants his wife back. Lani tells Kristen to stop. Kristen urges Lani to think this through. Kristen declares that Lani gave TR what he had coming to him and asks why that should cost her the rest of her life.

Beth explains to Melinda that TR told Lani he was a changed man and everyone believed him, but she knew he hadn’t changed one bit. Melinda responds that she’s sorry for what she’s been through, but her experience changes nothing. Melinda says you don’t get to pick your victim and TR may have been a reprehensible man but he’s still the victim here, so it is her duty to prosecute his killer. Paulina asks her to let them finish and instructs Beth to tell her the rest. Beth reveals that TR was getting desperate and running out of money but said he could still make Paulina do anything he wanted, so he planned to romance her, marry her, and then take her somewhere to kill her so he could inherit all her money. Melinda questions how she knows all of this. Beth reveals that he told her. Abe calls it premeditated murder. Melinda argues that TR did not live to commit the crime so her hands are tied legally. Abe warns Melinda that she is on the fast track to throwing away her job. Melinda questions if Abe is threatening to take her job if she doesn’t let Lani off with a slap on the wrist. Paulina says there’s a court of law and a court of public opinion. Abe explains that the people of Salem will realize that Melinda had a chance to stand up for abused women but chose a violent, drug addict who beat those women and shot a police officer in cold blood. Abe adds that the city council will insist that he demand her immediate resignation. Melinda argues that they only have Beth’s word and asks how she’s supposed to know she’s reliable. Beth reveals that she still has the photos she took after he beat her. Paulina adds those pictures could cause quite a stir if they end up in the paper. Abe declares that it’s all in Melinda’s hands.

Doug and Julie try to get baby Jules to go to sleep. Doug starts singing to get her to sleep.

Chanel assures Theo that she’s not leaning one way or the other. Theo wonders if that’s because if she actually picked one, she wouldn’t be the center of attention anymore. Chanel calls that mean and argues that this is hard. Theo says hard is when the woman you love leaves you at the altar while Chanel has a choice. Chanel calls it complicated since Johnny and Allie are going to be in their lives no matter what. Theo asks if she’s making it bigger than it is. Chanel says she’s been in a lot of relationships but this is different as she has to hurt somebody that she really cares about and then keep seeing them forever. Theo bets there is one solution that she hasn’t thought of. Theo then suggests Chanel dump them both and get back together with him.

Kristen insists to Lani that if they work together they can pull this off and asks if she’s in. Lani wants this over and says if she goes on the run, it will never be over and would drag Eli and their babies through Hell as they would always be looking over their shoulders. Lani refuses to do that to them, even if her life really is done, she won’t end theirs too. Lani asks if Kristen is really happy with her life right now and really free. Eli watches Justin through the window and sees something is going on so they have to get out there right now. Eli orders Kristen to stay there and consider herself under arrest. Eli and Lani rush out to ask Justin who he was talking to on the phone and if something happened. Justin announces that he doesn’t get it but Melinda is backing off and the deal he negotiated with her last night is back on, involuntary manslaughter with minimum time. Justin tells Lani that she can breathe again. Lani cries as she hugs Eli. Kristen watches from the window of the interrogation room.

Doug and Julie finish singing to get baby Jules to sleep. Julie then kisses Doug.

Chanel tells Theo that’s sweet. Theo then reveals that he was kidding as he’s with Claire and things are really good now. Theo adds that he was with Claire before Ciara and Claire has grown up a lot now. Chanel remarks that it must be nice to know you’re with the right person as she would give anything to make her life less complicated. Chanel then gets texts from Johnny and Allie, who both want to know if she saw their text. Chanel decides to take Theo up on his offer and let them have it.

Abe tells Melinda that she did the right thing. Melinda calls them blackmailers and warns that she won’t forget that. Paulina argues that they just saved her from herself and warns Melinda not to mess with her family again or she’ll be right back in her face. Abe and Paulina then exit together. Melinda punches her desk in frustration.

Eli tells Lani that it’s going to be hard for awhile but they will put this behind them and it will be over. Eli thanks Justin. Justin doesn’t think he should take the credit. Lani says she has some really hard goodbyes ahead but she still has a future now and something to look forward to. Justin says he has to prepare for the hearing but he’ll call her as soon as everything is official. Lani thanks Justin as he then exits the station. Eli declares he has unfinished business in the interrogation room. Lani says she will be right here and she’s sorry it has to be this way. Eli responds that they both know it does. Eli returns to the interrogation room and sees Kristen without her Susan wig on. Eli was expecting a fight. Kristen asks if he thought she’d make a run for it. Eli says if anyone could pull it off, it’s her. Kristen says she heard what Lani said before and she’s right. Kristen declares that she’s so tired of running, so she offers her hands up to Eli for handcuffs and says she’s ready to face the music.

Recap written by Christine

Nick went to Crimson Lights, because his parents wanted to meet with him. They got a table on the patio. Victor asked if Nick heard from Victoria. He hadn’t yet, but he was sure that when he did, she would be furious with him. He said Victoria would know that Victor blocked all her business partners from investing any money, and she’d know Victor got all that information from Nick. Nick didn’t think Victoria would trust him again. Nikki worried this would further alienate Victoria, who already wasn’t returning Nikki’s calls. Victor said they’d see how things worked out. Nick went to order a drink.

Victor heard Nikki asked Michael to dig up dirt on Diane. Victor wished Nikki had come to him first. He said he didn’t want Michael to split his focus. He had Michael working on throwing up road blocks to Victoria and Ashland’s plan. Nikki wasn’t feeling optimistic about this plan to bring Victoria back to them. Victor was sure things would work out, and sooner than expected. Nikki thought Michael was going to drag his feet finding anything on Diane. Victor didn’t want Nikki to worry about all this. She didn’t understand how he wasn’t more worried about Victoria. “Trust Victoria the way you trust me,” he replied.

Nikki thought Victor was too calm, as if he knew his plan was already working. She asked if he heard something from Victoria that lead him to believe she might come home due to Adam being made CEO. He said if he heard something he would’ve told her. Nikki asked if Victor was really comfortable yanking Adam out of the seat and reinstalling Victoria. She wondered if he’d even thought that far ahead, then she realized that of course he had, because this was the kind of thing Victor spent time thinking about. She asked if he thought the plan would work. He wasn’t sure, because he didn’t know what was going on in Victoria’s head.

Inside, Sharon asked Nick if there was news on Victoria. He said he’d heard from her just before he last talked to Sharon. Sharon wondered why Nick didn’t mention this before. Nick explained that Victoria had confided in him about her plans to open a company with Ashland. Nick had wanted to get Victoria away from that lying bastard, so instead of remaining neutral, Nick had repeated what Victoria said to their dad. Victor had made sure no investors went near the startup, and now Nick wasn’t sure he did the right thing. Sharon said Victoria put Nick in a difficult position.

Sharon wondered why Victoria would tell Nick those things. He had the same question. He was starting to wonder if it was a loyalty test. Smiling, Sharon said that if it was, Nick failed. Nick said it could also be some convoluted game Victoria was playing with Victor. Nick thought there was a chance he was being used as an unwitting accomplice by Victor or Victoria. “I’m either dad or Victoria’s pawn,” he said. Sharon knew Victor installed Adam as CEO to make Victoria so crazy she’d come home, and that didn’t work, so maybe this would. Nick worried that if Victoria changed her mind and came back, his involvement in this would erase any of the goodwill he’d established with her. Sharon was sure Victoria would eventually come around. Nick felt that he didn’t have much influence in the family these days, because he walked away from the company. He believed if he was still involved in the company, he could have more impact. He knew she didn’t think he should jump back into the viper’s nest. She clarified that she’d never said that – she just encouraged him to think about what he really wanted. He admitted it was getting harder for him to watch from the sidelines as the family engaged in these power struggles.

Ashland returned to the New York suite and told Victoria that he’d found a charming building in Tribeca that could be perfect for their new venture. The best part was that they could likely get it below market value. She found him handsome when he talked about buying real estate at a bargain price. The previous owner had their investors pull out, so they lost most of their funding. Ashland said that wouldn’t happen to him and Victoria because they were funding their own company. He sensed that something was bothering her, and he asked if she was having second thoughts.

Victoria wasn’t having second thoughts; she was just tired. She was excited about the building. Ashland said when he saw this place, he thought it was the hand of destiny. She said they had to move quickly, if this place was as good as he said it was. She hired an attorney to handle the articles of incorporation, and in order to file the paperwork, they’d need a name. He said anything but Newman Incorporated. She thought they should leave their names out of it and choose something catchy. He suggested Catchy Media. She thought he’d be better at naming things, since his previous incorporation was named after a 3,000 year old Babylonian king. He said he’d had months to come up with that, not five minutes. She liked that phrase he used about the building – the hand of destiny. He loved the name Destiny Media, and he loved Victoria. She loved him too, but she’d love him even more once they got the paperwork done. She said her lawyer opened a corporate account, and she put her 250 million dollars in, and she thought he should put his in before they met with the building seller. He said to send him the banking information. She hugged him and said he had no idea how badly she wanted this. He said this was all he’d hoped for.

Victoria said her lawyer structured the account so she and Ashland could both access the funds, so they could easily get this massive undertaking off the ground. He thought funding the company themselves was the right move, because they’d have complete autonomy. She said the investors passing on this was part of the company’s destiny. He liked the word play. She said once this went through, they wouldn’t have to answer to her parents, or brothers. She stated that her family had second guessed her, so she was going to prove to them that she could call the shots without them hovering over her constantly. “This is my statement of a lifetime,” she announced.

Ashland was very excited that Victoria trusted him again, even after he’d given her every reason not to, and that they were about to renew their commitment to each other. She took his hand and said they both wanted this. Not long ago, he’d thought this was impossible. He said she chose to follow her heart. He was willing to go at a pace that made her comfortable. He was glad they were doing this together, and he promised he’d never give her a reason to doubt him again. She marveled about their new journey. He wanted to celebrate, and she said they’d get caviar and champagne. He said he’d transfer his funds into the joint account, merging their fortunes to secure their future. She watched with tense anticipation as he began the transfer.

Later, Victoria told Ashland she wanted to see the building right away. He asked her to go with him to see it right now, but she said she couldn’t, because she had to meet the lawyer. She told him to arrange a walkthrough with the management company, then they could see the building together later. He said that was smart, so they didn’t look too eager. He said they could buy the building later, assuming she liked it too. He said he was the happiest man in the world right now. She said she was the happiest woman. He left. Victoria grabbed her tablet and looked at the online bank account. It contained 500 million dollars. She took a deep breath, then she transferred the whole half a billion dollars out of her joint account with Ashland and into a bank account that was in her name, only.

Victoria called and arranged to have the jet come to New York City. She packed a small bag, apparently unaware that Ashland was in the hallway, sliding his key card into the lock.

Sally ran into Chloe at Society and struck up a conversation. Chloe said she was having a meeting with her partner; she gestured toward the empty seat. Chloe wasn’t sure if Chelsea was late, or forgot, or just decided not to show. Chloe invited Sally to join her, and she accepted. Chloe congratulated Sally on her new gig. Chloe knew Sally could do it. That meant a lot to Sally. Chloe was surprised Sally took the job, considering her love of fashion. Sally had reservations about it, but she was glad she took the job. She said she’d found a new calling. Chloe wished she could find a new calling sometimes. Sally was curious what was going on.

Chloe said she and Chelsea were still adjusting to the new work environment. Sally knew that Chelsea and Chloe had been partners before in the same role with success, so she asked what was different this time. It seemed to Sally that working for Lauren would be a dream situation. Chloe said Lauren was the best. Sally said Lauren would support you 100% as long as you weren’t trying to sabotage someone she cared about, which Sally found out the hard way. Chloe said that there were challenges in any venture. Sally thought Chloe was a good friend. It was clear to Sally that Chloe’s biggest challenge was Chelsea.

Chloe appreciated Sally trying to help, but she couldn’t sit here and let her bash Chelsea. Sally wasn’t trying to do that. Sally was in a really good place, and she had zero animosity toward Chelsea. Sally wanted them all to be friends, but she saw the argument between Chelsea and Chloe the other day, and it shocked her. Chloe explained that Chelsea had been scattered and contentious since Rey’s death. Sally said Chloe was a good friend, giving Chelsea the benefit of the doubt. However, Sally knew Chloe hired her because Chelsea was unavailable, due to her struggles. Chloe said Chelsea got past her issues. Sally suggested that Chelsea just hid her struggles around Chloe, since Chelsea had always treated Sally as a threat. Sally wasn’t sure if that was because of Sally’s friendship with Chloe or because Sally got close to Adam. Chloe told Sally to see it from Chelsea’s point of view – she got herself back together, and she tried to pick up her life where she left off. “[Chelsea] felt like I took her place. Even though she should’ve realized that she burned every possible bridge with Adam,” Sally said. Chloe thought it had just been hard for Chelsea to realize she had to live with the consequences of what she did when she wasn’t in her right mind.

Chloe thought one of the reasons Rey meant so much to Chelsea was that his forgiveness paved the way for all the others in town to give her a second chance, then he died. Sally understood that, but she said this wasn’t fair to Chloe. “You have been the driving force behind this whole renewed collaboration with Chelsea,” Sally stated. Sally didn’t think Chelsea appreciated what a good friend Chloe had been. Sally didn’t think it was Chloe’s fault that the partnership was going through this difficult phase. Chloe said she was going to continue to support her best friend. Sally knew what it was like to screw up a good thing, and she’d made it hard on people around her, but she also knew it was a losing proposition to try and fix someone. She hoped things went differently for Chloe.

Chelsea was at Adam’s office. She said he looked like be belonged in that chair, and he said he did. Chelsea was there to get him to sign a permission slip for Connor to go canoeing at camp. He asked why she didn’t sign it, and she said they wouldn’t allow her to, because he was the one who enrolled Connor, which meant he was the parent on record. She was annoyed the camp people were being such sticklers. He asked if everything was okay, and she said no, because Chloe had become a taskmaster. She congratulated him on his job and hoped he was happy. He was, but he was also concerned about her.

Chelsea said she was fine, but she was tired of being managed by Chloe. Adam could relate. Chelsea said that Victor was the ultimate micromanager, and Chloe was getting to that level. Adam found it hard to believe Chloe was as bad as his father. Chelsea said Chloe was obsessed with deadlines. Chelsea needed creative spark, and there was no joy and it wasn’t fun. Adam said sometimes work wasn’t fun. Chelsea said work used to always be fun with Chloe. Adam recalled Chloe cutting up some of Chelsea’s pieces at a fashion show. Chelsea said yes, but that was part of their chemistry. Adam said sometimes Chelsea and Chloe were BFFs, partners in crime, and sometimes they were bitter rivals. She noted that he didn’t have uncomplicated friendships. He said he wasn’t the subject of this discussion. He said that he had his dream job, while it seemed like she was on the verge of blowing up her career, so she was the priority. Chelsea wasn’t sure what to do with Chloe. Adam thought she might have to suck it up and deal with it. She told him about the offer to design for Marchetti. Every designer on earth would kill for this position, and Summer and Kyle picked her. Chloe didn’t want to do it, so if Chelsea took the job, she’d have to do it on her own, and she thought she could handle it. He didn’t think she could.

Adam knew Chelsea was great at what she did, but he said the Marchetti thing was too much. He thought she was latching onto something to fill a void. He said when she came back to town, it seemed like she was looking forward, but now she seemed to be backsliding. She scoffed and denied it. He said she was getting caught up in petty grievances, like getting mad at Connor’s camp people, who were just trying to do their job, and she was fighting Chloe. He said maybe Chloe wasn’t trying to manage Chelsea; maybe Chelsea just wasn’t meeting her expectations. Chelsea sarcastically said she was so glad she came here to be criticized by Mr. Perfect. He wasn’t trying to judge her. He just noticed she wasn’t the same since Rey’s death. He thought she was trying to steady her personal life by taking on more work. She countered that he did that. He said he did it all the time, and that was why he knew it didn’t work. He said she couldn’t avoid what was bothering her.

Adam went to see Sally outside her office. When they went inside, she saw a bouquet on her desk. The card said “shine brightly, kick some ass and know that I have your back. The best is yet to come. Love, Adam.” She loved the flowers and the card, and she thought it was nice that he used the “L” word. He said he didn’t put much thought into the card – it was very instinctual. He wanted to tap into her instincts right now. He said he had a problem – he was saddled with a COO who had on interest in his ideas. He’d come up with an idea that he thought would impress the hell out of his father. He felt he had to act quickly and show Victor that he was indispensable, before Victoria imploded her life and ran back to Daddy. He’d been focused on the media division, but now he knew that was in the best of hands. There was a major retailer that was struggling, and he thought Newman Enterprises should move in, take over operation and replace their location with stores under Newman’s brand. She thought it was a solid idea, but it sounded like an idea Victor would have. She said that if he wanted to make a splash, he might have to do something different – be Adam and do something that would get the business world buzzing. She said Victoria already did the Victor Jr. thing. She thought he should show everyone that he wasn’t a placeholder and that he was meant to run this company, and do something like shooting for the moon – or hell, buy the moon. He smiled and said she was so sexy like this. They kissed.

Between kisses, Adam said he wished Sally could be CEO of Newman Media and COO of Newman Enterprises, because he’d never get this kind of advice from Nikki. “Well, I should hope not, but I think you’re stuck with her,” Sally replied. Sally had every confidence Adam would come up with something spectacular to make people see Newman in a new light. She had an idea for her COO – Chloe. He didn’t think that was going to work because she was tied up in the Fenmore deal. Sally said it seemed like that partnership between Chelsea and Chloe might be on its last leg. Adam didn’t disagree, but Chloe had no relevant experience. Sally pointed out that she didn’t have any relevant experience when Adam hired her, either. Sally said she and Chloe worked together before, and she got the job done. Adam said Chloe hated him with every fiber of her being.

Chelsea finally showed up for her meeting with Chloe and explained that she got caught up with Adam. Chloe was annoyed that Chelsea didn’t call and say she was late. Chelsea said she was here now, so they should get to work. “No. It was really inconsiderate of you Chelsea, and this is not the first time,” Chloe snapped. She said this wasn’t working.
