EJ talked to his contact at the hospital to get info about the shooter. He was upset when he got off the phone. Johnny walked in the room and wondered what was wrong. He let Johnny know that Ava escaped. They weren’t on the same page about Ava. They ended up talking Chanel. He let EJ know that he told her about his feelings, but Talia showed up. EJ gave him advice on how to handle his situation. Johnny wasn’t sure about his idea, but Chanel called him so he could come over. After Johnny left, EJ was determined to go after Ava. His contact told him that the shooter was awake and getting questioned by the police. Chanel talked to Paulina about her conflicted feelings about Talia and Johnny. Paulina wondered what Chanel told Johnny, but she said that Talia showed up before she could answer him. Paulina supported her, but she hoped that she would pick Johnny. Chanel wasn’t happy that he sprung that on her. She wasn’t sure if he was on the rebound from Wendy. Paulina thought she should take her time deciding, but she thought she dragged it out enough. Johnny was about to knock as Paulina was about to leave.

Chanel told Johnny that Talia had feelings for her. She told him that before he admitted how he felt she was looking forward to seeing what would happen in their relationship. He thought she was choosing Talia so he was about to leave, but she stopped him. She told him that she wanted to be with him. Ava and Harris were at a motel. He wanted to get them some food, but she didn’t think it was safe since EJ had hitman. Harris questioned if it was EJ and Ava was positive. Ava thought he wouldn’t stop at one attempt. She told him that Rafe hates her so he won’t believe that she shot the shooter in self-defense. She said they had to bring Susan home. Harris was about to get a burner phone and food. She thanked him for helping her. Ava saw Susan again, but she realized that she was having a psychic connection with her. When Harris returned she told him that Susan was stuck in the Big Smoke. Harris said that was a nickname for London. They decided to go there to look for her. Later, Rafe and an officer arrived at the motel. He warned the officer that Ava and Harris are armed so it’s okay to use deadly force. Rafe kicked the door down and was shocked by what he saw.

Rex noticed that Sarah was shivering after she gave birth. He wanted to hurry and get her to the hospital. Chloe wanted to call an ambulance, but Rex said there wasn’t enough time. He wanted to drive her because she was hemorrhaging. Sarah told Xander to take care of their baby if something to her. Vivian said that her divorce from Victor wasn’t finalized. Maggie and Justin didn’t believe her so he called the clerk’s office. He got the voicemail so he was going to go to the office to get the answers. Maggie was going to make Vivian pay once that situation was over. Chloe walked in and told Maggie that Sarah had the baby. Vivian and Bonnie were left behind at the mansion. They argued with each other. Vivian thought she was taking advantage of looking like Adrienne so she could get Justin’s money. Bonnie said that she loved Justin. Vivian said she loved Victor too. Theresa met up with Stephanie and Kayla. She let them know that she was there for Victor’s funeral. She wanted to pay her respects, but Brady thought she was there to get back together with him. Kayla wondered if that was true. Kayla left so they kept talking. Theresa asked her about Alex. They talked about him being related to Brady. Stephanie wondered if she was going to make Brady jealous.

Rex brought Sarah to the hospital. He told Kayla what happened to her. Kayla wanted to examine Sarah. Xander was scared and wanted to get some information about Sarah. Kayla didn’t want to tell him anything because he wasn’t family. Maggie showed up and told her that she was family. She said that Kayla could talk about Sarah with Xander and Chloe there. Kayla told them that Sarah would make a full recovery. Rex came out with the baby. He told Maggie that Sarah wanted to see her. Later, Xander brought the baby to Sarah. He was about to leave, but she wanted him to stay. She wanted him to hear something. She wanted to name her baby after Victor and Maggie. Maggie thought Victor would love the tribute. She wanted to know if that was all she wanted to say. Sarah said that’s all she wanted to say. Sarah told Maggie to go back to her reception. Maggie returned to the mansion and saw Vivian and Bonnie laughing. Bonnie asked her about Sarah. Maggie told her what happened. Justin came back home and broke the news to Maggie. He told her that Vivian was telling the truth. Vivian and Victor were still legally married. Maggie’s marriage to Victor isn’t valid. He said there wasn’t anything she could do legally. Vivian told them to pack their things and leave her house.

Everyone at the Kiriakis mansion wanted Vivian to leave, but she refused to go. Vivian told them that she was released from prison early. Justin looked over the papers and said they looked legit. She planned on staying until Victor’s will is read. Kate told Philip that Victor set up a trust fund for him. She thought they should leave. Justin planned to get Victor’s will to prove that Vivian isn’t in it. He went to get Victor’s will out of the safe, but it was gone. Justin called the estate to find out what happened. He found out that Victor wanted his last will destroyed and that he died without a will. He told Maggie that she would get everything since there wasn’t a will. Vivian told him that he was wrong. She dropped the bomb on him that her and Victor’s divorce papers weren’t filed right and they never received a divorce decree. Vivian let Maggie know that her marriage to Victor was null and void. She announced that she was Victor’s widow and not Maggie. She said that she was the one who was entitled to everything. Sarah’s water broke and Rex wanted to get her to the hospital. She said that she wanted to push. She and Xander flashed back to when she was in labor with Mackenzie. Xander and Rex helped Sarah get to a lawn chair so she could relax. Rex wanted Chloe to go to the car to get his medical bag and sent Xander to get towels and blankets. Sarah told Rex that she was worried that the pain might make her accidentally tell Xander the truth about the baby. He assured her that it wouldn’t happen. Xander and Chloe helped coach Sarah through her labor. Rex finally delivered Sarah’s baby. She had a girl. Sarah was happy, but Rex noticed that she was shaking. Xander offered to hold the baby for her. After he took the baby, Sarah passed out.

Marlena told John Doe that his memory loss was triggered by a skull fracture he suffered years ago. She let him know that he was healthy besides that injury he suffered years ago. He was happy to hear that and wanted to look for his son. She let him know that her husband’s working on his case. John showed up so Marlena introduced him to John Doe. John talked to him about the Korean War. John Doe remembered the war. He told him that he served in the same unit as biological father Timothy Robicheaux. John Doe said the name sounded familiar. He talked about the type of person Timothy was. He said that Timothy switched their dog tags. John realized that John Doe was his biological father after all and that his name was Timothy. John realized that the villain was Joseph Bell. They had a touching moment together once they realized that were related. Timothy wanted to know why John was adopted and not with Maude. John let him know that it was a long story. John let Timothy know that Maude passed away. Timothy had a feeling that she was dead and realized that was why he needed to find his son. They couldn’t believe they found each other after all this time.

Theresa wanted to go to Victor’s funeral with Brady as a family, but he didn’t want to do that. Belle and Shawn arrived at the townhouse. Brady wondered how Shawn was doing. He said he was better because he’s talking about Marlena. Theresa tried to text Brady again. He was frustrated by it. He knew she wouldn’t give up. Brady told Belle that Theresa wanted to get back together. They talked about his conversation with Theresa. Shawn was shocked that Brady compared Theresa to Kristen. Brady felt like Theresa had the potential to be like Kristen. He felt like he needed a nice woman and Theresa wasn’t it. They headed to the memorial. Alex and Chelsea met each other at the service. They got to know each other. Theresa saw Chelsea at the service and they caught up with each other. Chelsea introduced Alex and Theresa. He seemed happy that they weren’t related. Alex and Theresa talked to each other about Brady. He told her that the old him would have suggested she pursue Brady, but he thought she should back off. Kate read about Victor’s funeral in the newspaper when Philip walked in the pub. She tried to make him feel guilty, but he told her that Brady wasn’t pressing charges against him. She wanted to know where he was while he was gone. He told her that he went to see Lucas at Statesville. She thought that was good, but she knew he wasn’t doing that the entire time he was gone. He told her that he went to see Chloe. He assured her that he was back for Victor’s funeral. She assured him that Victor loved him. He was ready to go to the funeral, but Kate stopped him. She wanted to know if he was still in love with Chloe. He admitted that he still loved Chloe.

Justin and Bonnie were talking about Victor when Sonny arrived. They had fond memories of him when Xander showed up. He thought they were putting Victor down. Sonny got upset with him. They started arguing. Sonny was glad that Sarah was with Rex instead of him and that she’s having his baby. Bonnie almost slipped up and said Sarah wasn’t having Rex’s baby, but she covered herself. Bonnie defended Xander and Sonny couldn’t believe she would do that after what happened with Ava. Sonny mentioned the other things Xander did. Justin let them know that Victor wouldn’t want them to fight. Maggie was in her room talking to Victor’s picture when Sarah showed up. Sarah told her that Melissa was sorry she couldn’t make it to the funeral. Maggie knew she was sick and told Sarah that she did a video call with her. Maggie talked about her memories of Victor with her. She missed him and wanted him back. Sarah told her that she wasn’t alone because she was with her. Maggie told her that it wasn’t too late to tell Xander the truth about the baby. Maggie didn’t think it was right or fair to keep the truth from Xander. Sarah didn’t think any good would come from telling him about the baby. Victor service began. Everyone took turns saying things about Victor.

Harris and Joyce fought over the gun. The gun fell on the floor. Ava picked up the gun and shot Joyce. Harris checked on her and told Ava that she was still breathing. A security guard came in the room with a gun. He called for backup. Ava didn’t put her gun down. She told the guard that it was self-defense. The guard didn’t want to hear what she had to say. Harris told Ava to put her gun down. She said she couldn’t go to jail. She said she would shoot the guard if she had to go to jail. She said they wouldn’t believe that the shooting was self-defense. Harris continued to convince her to put the gun down. The guard put his gun down. Harris put the gun on the guard. He told the guard they were leaving. EJ texted Joyce to get an update. He was upset when he didn’t hear from her. Johnny came in and wondered what he was waiting for. EJ thought about his conversation with Joyce. He lied to Johnny, He said Gabi hit one of the cars. He said he was waiting to hear from the mechanic. He started yelling about Gabi. Johnny told him to calm down.

EJ and Johnny talked about the baby. EJ asked Johnny if he wanted to have kids with Chanel. EJ asked if Johnny took Nicole’s advice and told Chanel how he felt. Johnny said Talia interrupted them before he could tell her. EJ told him to fight for Chanel. Johnny was surprised that he wanted him to be with Chanel. EJ said he changed his mind. He said no matter how many flaws Chanel had, she was better than Ava. Johnny told him Ava was mentally unstable. EJ said he wanted her punished. They wanted to change the subject. EJ went back to telling Johnny to fight for Chanel. Jade went to Rafe’s office and told him it was a mistake to turn down the commissioner’s job. She said he told her it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. He said he understood how she felt. She told him if he meant it, he should get out of her seat. When he stood up, she told him she was playing with him. They kissed each other. He said if she wanted the job it was hers. She said she didn’t want the job. She said they should go back to his house. He got a call about the shooting at Bayview. He told her about the shooting. They left the office to find out what’s going on. While Chanel and Talia were on a date, Kayla called and told her to come to the hospital. Talia thought she didn’t get the job. Chanel told her it might not have been. Talia went to the hospital. Kayla told her that she got the job. Rafe showed up, he put an APB out on Ava and Harris. Kayla told him what was going on with Joyce. She said the injury was bad so Joyce had to go to surgery. Rafe said he and Jada had to talk to her as soon as possible. Kayla said she would keep them updated. They found out Joyce didn’t work at Bayview. Jada noticed that Joyce had a burner phone. She said there was only one number on the phone, but it was blocked. They read the messages, but didn’t know they were from EJ. EJ got a notification that there was a shooting at Bayview. He thought Ava was dead. Johnny went to see Chanel. He said he was still in love with her. He said he couldn’t keep it quiet anymore. Talia showed up to tell her the good news. She was surprised to see Johnny. He said he had to go. Harris and Ava went to the park. She said she wasn’t going back to the police. He said he had another idea. She followed him. They went to a motel. He wondered who would have sent Joyce after her. Ava thought it was EJ.

Sloan wanted to talk to Eric about something. He wanted to know what she wanted to discuss so she apologized about the baby. Eric didn’t blame her for losing the baby. He said they could still have a future together. He wanted to make dinner for her, but she wanted to take a walk to clear her head. She agreed to meet him later. After Eric left her room, she blamed herself for why Eric wouldn’t be a father to either child. She thought about changing Nicole’s paternity test results. EJ met with the woman he hired to kill Ava. She wanted to know if she was at Bayview. He wondered if it would be a problem. She said it wouldn’t be and he wanted to know how she would get in there. She wondered if he wanted the details, and he told her that he didn’t. He just wanted Ava deal like his mother. She was shocked he wanted to go through with the plan since he didn’t operate like that anymore. He said he didn’t operate that way, but Ava was different. He gave her an envelope full of money. He told her that he wanted her to kill Xander too. After the woman left, Sloan walked by EJ. They talked about avenging their parents’ deaths. She warned him that getting revenge can send you down the wrong path. EJ gave his condolences to her. She thought he enjoyed Eric suffering. He didn’t enjoy it, but he thought Eric wasn’t meant to be a father after all. Sloan didn’t agree with him.

Xander ran into Theresa outside of the pub. He saw her crying and she told him that she was crying because of Victor. He didn’t believe her. She admitted that she was crying over Brady. He thought it was funny how Brady rejected her. She reminded him that Sarah did the same thing to him. They continued to argue until he told her that he was marrying Chloe. They kept arguing and Xander grabbed her arm. Eric showed up and stopped him from grabbing her. Rex wanted to make sure Sarah was okay. She told him that didn’t have Braxton-Hicks anymore. He was happy about that. He thought they should get married before the baby was born. She wanted to make sure he was okay with the fact that she wanted to keep Xander from knowing the truth. He was well aware of that and wanted to marry her. He wanted to make her fall in love with him. She didn’t want to do it around Victor’s funeral because she didn’t think that would be right. She wanted to be there for Maggie. She thought it was sad that none of his kids could be there. Philip showed up just as they were talking about him. They were surprised to see him. Sarah was shocked to see him. Philip told them that Brady agreed to drop the charges against him. She offered her condolences to him. Philip asked her about the father of her baby. They said Rex was the father. He congratulated them. Harris wanted to know where Susan was, but Ava didn’t know. He thought they should tell Marlena, but she didn’t want to do it. He thought they should tell EJ, but she didn’t want to do that either. The assassin had a needle and told Ava it was time to take her medication. Ava told her that she never had an injection before. The assassin said it was a new medication the doctor gave her. Harris wanted to know what the medication was and she wanted him to leave. He told Ava to call her doctor, but the assassin pulled a gun on them before she could make the call. She told them that they were both going to die. She wanted to know who was going first. Harris fought the woman and she dropped the gun. Ava grabbed it and aimed it at the woman.

Brady wanted to know why Theresa was in Salem. She said she was there to pay her respects to Victor. Brady reminded her that they weren’t close. She told him that she had a breakthrough before she left town. She said Victor told her that he was proud of her. Brady talked to her about helping Xander when he abandoned Chloe. She said she would always hate Xander for being the reason why they weren’t together anymore. Brady told her that Xander wasn’t responsible for them breaking up. Her lying is the reason why they aren’t together anymore. She agreed with him, but she wants to give their relationship another chance. She kissed him. He enjoyed the kiss until he came to his senses. He didn’t think it was a good idea. Theresa told him they were single, and they should consider giving their relationship another shot. Brady turned her down and told her that it wouldn’t happen. He asked her to leave. John wanted Marlena to tell him about the case she wanted him and Steve to work on. She told him about the man at the hospital. She wanted them to find out who he is. She also told him about the son he wanted to find. She gave him details about the guy. They thought he might have been a veteran. John suggested running his prints through a military database to find out who he is. Marlena got a call from Harris so she had to leave.

John and Steve investigated the mystery man. John decided to call the VA hospital. They found out that a patient was missing. They wanted to find out more about it so they went to the VA hospital. They talked to the administrator to get some information about the man. They found out the man’s name was Joseph Bell. The administrator gave John and Steve access to Joseph’s military records. John was surprised to find out Joseph Bell served in the same unit in Korea as his birth father. Harris wanted to know if Ava was still seeing Susan. He wanted to know what she was saying. Ava told him and swore to him that she didn’t know what Susan was talking about. Marlena arrived and offered to hypnotize Ava. Marlena wanted Harris to leave them alone so they could get started. Marlena walked her through the night of the accident. Harris came back in the room after they were finished. Ava told him that she didn’t remember anything new. Marlena apologized for not being able to help her. She said that she had to leave. After Marlena left, she told Harris that she lied to Marlena. She said that Susan was still alive. EJ had a dream about his mother. She wanted to know why he didn’t avenge her death. He went to Xander’s place with his gun. He told Xander that he couldn’t stop thinking about his mother’s death. Xander said it was Ava’s fault. EJ told him that he agreed with him and wanted him to kill her. He offered to pay Xander for killing Ava. EJ thought he owed it to his mother to take care of Ava. Xander thought EJ was setting him up. He turned down EJ’s offer. EJ was going to make Xander pay with Ava. EJ called someone and told the person to kill Ava and Xander.

Belle talked to Brady about Shawn and Philip. She was very worried about Shawn. John arrived as Belle was leaving. John offered to buy lunch, but Belle wanted to see Shawn. John and Brady talked about Philip and Victor. John told him about his rocky history with Victor. Brady wanted to honor Victor’s memory and focus on getting Rachel back. John encouraged him not to give up. Shawn talked to Marlena and thanked her for putting him on 24-hour watch. He needed it, but he wanted to go home. He promised that he would stick with therapy. He wanted to be home with Belle. She agreed and told him that she would lift the hold on him. She wanted him to promise to get help if he feels the way he did before. At the hospital, Jada told Kayla about an elderly man wandering on the side of the road. She asked her to examine him. Kayla agreed to check him out. The mystery man couldn’t remember his name, but he was being playful. Kayla examined the mystery man. He was okay. His memory has issues, but he was okay.

Kayla introduced Marlena to the mystery man. Marlena asked him questions to jog his memory. He said he was in Salem looking for his son that he never got to know. She told him that her husband is a private investigator and he could help him. He needed all the help he could get. Belle saw Shawn at the hospital. He told her that he was coming home. She thought it was too soon. He didn’t think it was too soon. He agreed to go to AA meetings with Brady. He apologized for the things he said to her. He promised to do therapy with Marlena twice a week. Belle was still hesitant about him going back to work. He wanted to take the day off to spend with her. Later, Brady was at the townhouse. Someone was at the door and Brady answered it. He was surprised to see Theresa standing at the door.
