smart? Letting it go to voicemail? They were calling to ask where Lonnie is. I just said she’s missing. They would alert federal marshals, she’d officially be a fugitive, and it would only get worse from there. So, what do we do? I have an idea.

Hi, this is Ray Fernandez. I am returning your call about prisoner Lonnie Grant. Yes. Well, I’m with her right now, and I will have her back at the prison before lockdown. Okay.

Well, I would ask Sean if there had been any progress on getting another warrant to search the DiMera house again, but, um, he wouldn’t know. Why not? Because he’s been suspended from the force. What? For drinking on the job. He’s still struggling with what happened at the home? Yeah. For weeks he’s been numbing the pain with alcohol.

Well, I couldn’t find someone who would take my case. Hmm. So kidnapping was the next logical step. Hey, you know what? Your hypocrite stepson thought it was a pretty logical step when he kidnapped my daughter last New Year’s Eve. You are withholding the orchid that would have saved three lives, including mine.

So, what Brady did, he did for a very good reason. Well, I have a good reason too, dammit. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Why would the FBI do a background check on me? I had nothing to do with what happened with Mayor Carver. Don’t worry, Ms. King. It’s completely routine. You see, in kidnapping cases, they need to check out everyone who had recent contact with the victim. And you saw Abe the day he disappeared. The day you left work early.

I was sick. I thought I was coming down with the flu. I’ve already been through all of this with agent Grant. Now obviously, we can’t say anything to Pauline about this until we have something concrete to go on. But none of this stuff is adding up. Okay, I agree. But dude, listen, we’ve been over this evidence a million times. Buddy, we just gotta do what we do best, and that is we go back to the beginning, from the moment that he disappeared from that hospital, we retreat every step here, because partner, we gotta be missing something.

Okay, Rafe and Eli both talked to Nurse King and her story’s been consistent. She said she, uh, went in to check on Abe. Noted that he was confused and she left. When she came back into the room, he was gone. He had none of the hospital cameras picked up any of his movements. Which makes it kind of hard to believe he was just wandering around out there.

It feels to me that someone had moved Abe in that hospital. We knew exactly where all the cameras were. It may be someone who worked in the hospital. And Kayla said she’s one of those exemplary employees. She’s had the same shift for 15 years. She never took any time off except for when her husband died a few years back. Oh, she left work early on the day Abe disappeared, right? She told the police she was sick. So she was sick on the day Abe disappeared, but didn’t miss a day of work for 15 years.
