THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Yeah, baby. I’ll pick you up in plenty of time to get to the funeral. I love you too, sweetness.

Yeah. Too early? No, no. Fine. Come on in. How you doing, man? Any news on your granddaughter? Not a word. It’s obvious that Kristen has got her. We just don’t know where the hell she took her.

May I help? No. Looks like you got your hands full anyway. It’s okay. These are actually just pictures of Abe on taking over the church for the funeral. But I thought, I thought that sounded helpful. No, you don’t have to. You don’t have to. Honestly, I’m, I’m, I’m just doing this to, Do something to keep me from going crazy.

It’s kind of pointless, don’t you think? Since we both know exactly where Rachel is anyway.

If this is the police again, let me remind you, you will need another warrant if you want to come in. Kristen, Kristen, it’s me. Oh my God. Lonnie? Oh my God. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Mama, do you need any help? Well, baby, can you send Lonnie in, please? Oh, well, she just went out to run an errand. But, why don’t you let me help you?

Oh.

Mama. Oh. Oh. Oh, baby, no, uh uh. Don’t, don’t you start crying, too. No. And I’ll try not to. And you know, I can dole out tissues just as well as Lonnie can. Thank you. Oh. I just did my makeup for the third time. Oh. If I can’t make it through getting ready, how else am I going to get through Abraham’s funeral?

Good morning, sunshine. Here’s your breakfast and a soft boiled egg just the way you like it. Doesn’t Paulina take good care of you, darling? You are not. Paulina. You are not my wife.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives. Is

there anything I can do to help? Mmm, wish there were. Cops have searched that mansion from top to bottom. They got nothing. Alright, so assuming Kristen is hiding Rachel. What do you think her endgame is? Take the kid and run? Eh, it’s doubtful. If she were to blow out of Salem for good, that would mean that she is ready to give up on Brady.

I don’t see that happening. But I’ve got her under surveillance 24 7 just in case. Well, that’s good. Yeah. Can I get you a cup of coffee? You look like you could use it. Oh, thanks, partner. Yeah, black and strong.

Did you get any sleep at all last night? No, not really. I think I nodded off for a minute or so, but every time I did, I had a nightmare. About Rachel? No. About Abe.

Second time, I had the exact same dream. Second time. On the dock, Abe is right there, same place where he fell into the water. And he just looks at me and then he turns around. Disappears. That shook me up too. Yeah, yeah, um.

I’m gonna say something that sounds a little bit out there. I’m starting to wonder

if maybe somehow it was more than a dream.

Mama, you have always been so strong for me. How about you let me be strong for you now? Especially since Big Mama can’t be here. Just looking at you gives me strength, my precious girl. Well, I’m here for you, Mama, always. And, I just want to say that I am so, so very grateful for the man that Abe was to you.

The way he loved and respected you. And I’m also grateful for, for what he meant to me. He was so kind and caring and, well, I had a dad again. After so many years without one. Yes. Yes you did. We both were so, so very lucky, weren’t we? To have that wonderful man in our lives. I

guess maybe I’m not as strong as I thought I was. Oh, baby. We just have to lean on each other. Okay?

Oh, Abraham, that’s just crazy talk. Of course I’m Paulina. Who else would I be? I saw her picture. And it wasn’t you. Abraham, you’re not a well man. Your memory’s very fuzzy. But you know what? This medicine will get you all cleared up.

No. No, no, no. I, uh, I don’t want it. I don’t want it. Ah, no, no, please. Ah!

I know you believe that Kristen is behind Rachel’s disappearance. I don’t believe it. I know it. I know it. I mean, think about it. I mean, if, if she was actually missing, why would Kristen demand a warrant from the police in order to search the house? Hmm? Yeah. Yeah. I understand what you’re saying. And if Kristen really believed that her daughter had run away or had been kidnapped…

She would leave no stone unturned to find her. Exactly. Exactly. She would be out here. She would be searching. Instead, I’m out here running around in circles while she’s sitting on her ass at the DiMera mansion right now. Honey, I can’t believe that you’re free. How did you manage that? Well, I’m not exactly free.

I’m out on furlough. So I can attend my dad’s funeral. Oh, sweetheart, I am so sorry about Abe. He was such a wonderful man. Yeah, he was the best. Anyway, um, I, I can’t stay long. I’m just, I had to see you. Especially when I heard that Rachel was missing. I know. It’s so awful. I mean, Brady made her go to that damn stupid camp.

And, of course, she hated it and she ran away. And, and now she’s disappeared into thin air and I’m just, I’m so worried about her. Uh huh. What? Uh huh. You wouldn’t by chance be lying to me, would you? Sister?

Theo, come in, come in. Hey, Chanel. Hello. Oh, good, good. You’re here. I asked Theo to go with us to the funeral. Oh, oh. I hope it’s okay. Of course it is. Why would you even ask? I’m glad we’re all going together. That’s right. Well, actually we’re not. What? Why not? Because I want you to swing by the Johnsons and pick up those pictures of Abraham.

Oh, but I can just text them to bring the pictures. Please! Just do that for me, okay? Theo and I will meet you at the church. Okay, um, sure.

Okay, love you, okay? Alright, I’ll see you guys there.

Uh, Paulina? I’m not great at reading social cues, but um, did you just send Shenandoah on purpose? You might be better at reading those cues than you think. Because, uh, oh, yes, yes, honey, I did. Theo, there’s something I want to talk to you about.

So, you think this dream was… More like a premonition.

I don’t know, man. I don’t know, maybe I’m just unsettled by Abe’s death, by all these unanswered questions. Especially coming off what we just went through with Doc and Kayla. Yeah, man, I hear you. You remember I had that dream about Kayla? She was still alive, trying to reach me? Yes, exactly. That’s exactly what this feels like.

Like, like somehow Ibrahim is trying to reach out, is asking for help. So do you think he might still be alive? It’s possible, isn’t it? I mean, think about it. Think about it. We don’t know how he disappeared from the hospital. We don’t know where the hell he was the whole time he was gone. We don’t know how he got down to the pier or why he went into the water.

Now obviously, we can’t say anything to Pauline about this until we have something concrete to go on. But none of this stuff is adding up. Okay, I agree. But dude, listen, we’ve been over this evidence a million times. Buddy, we just gotta do what we do best, and that is we go back to the beginning, from the moment that he disappeared from that hospital, we retreat every step here, because partner, we gotta be missing something.

Okay, we do what we always do, we go right back to the beginning, we start with what we know. And that is… There’s King’s statement.

Now, Abe, sugar, you just let that medicine do its work on you, and all of those thoughts will seem like a bad dream. I am your Paulina, darling, and I love you.

Who is it? It’s me. What are you doing here? All of our business is done. Why are you so freaked out to see me all of a sudden? What’s going on? Oh my God. What have you done to him?

Do you really think that Kristen has Rachel hidden in the mansion? Mm hmm. I know it. I know it. I feel it in my bones. I know it. You know, in fact, what am I doing out here? I’m going to the DiMera mansion right now, and I’m going to get the truth out of Kristen once and for all. I’m, I’m, I gotta go. No, Grady, you can’t do that.

You can’t.

Shirley, after all that time we spent together in the convent, you wouldn’t break the ninth commandment. And which one is that again? Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor. In other words, bitch, don’t lie to your best friend. I’m not lying to my best friend. Look, the police came and searched this place top to bottom.

If Rachel was here, they would have found her, wouldn’t they? No offense to my former colleagues, but if anyone PD, it’s you. I am flattered you think so, but Rachel is not here. Okay, then why aren’t you out looking for her? I, I doubt that you would be here shooting the breeze with me if Rachel was really missing.

You know kidnapping is a crime, right? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, okay, hold on, just, let’s just say, theoretically, I had her. I mean, how could that be kidnapping? She is my daughter. You cannot be this stupid. You are the non custodial parent, Kristen. Listen to me. Hey. You just got out of prison, and I have to go back inside later today.

Little advice? Not that you’re asking for it. Enjoy your freedom. Find a way to legally enjoy time with your daughter. Yeah, but I cannot, um, I can’t even see my daughter unless Brady… I know. Unless you work things out with Brady. Yes. You can do that. Kristen, you both love Rachel. So start there. Take that first step.

Okay? If, if you know where Rachel is, now is the time to tell Brady.

So, what did you want to talk to me about? Well, sweetheart, um, I know you’re planning on, uh, giving the eulogy at your, your father’s funeral. And, you know, I think that’s… So brave of you, especially since Abe told me how much you hate speaking in public. I’m just not good at it. Oh, that’s not true. You did an amazing job delivering his speech on Juneteenth.

I got through it, anyway. Oh, no, you did better than that. Um, the thing is, uh, Theo, today is going to be a very emotional day. And, well, if it’s too hard for you to give a speech, I… Well, I just don’t want you to feel the pressure of anyone else’s expectations. I don’t really. I just… Well, I want to give the speech for my dad.

That’s what helped me get through the Juneteenth one. And, yeah, it’s gonna be hard, but I’m used to it. I’ve done hard things my whole life. And you’ve done them very well, Theo. Thanks. But I am really nervous about today, so… Paulina, could I ask you a favor? Anything, baby. Do you mind if I practice my speech on you?

For the Juneteenth one, I practiced with Chad, and maybe practicing would help. I I just don’t want to upset you, though. Upset me? Oh, well, if I could get out all my tears right now, right here in my own home, I’d be very grateful to you. Okay.

Um, I don’t usually like hugging people when I’m feeling upset, but can I hug you? Oh, of course. Oh, come here. You come here, honey. Oh.

Okay, Rafe and Eli both talked to Nurse King and her story’s been consistent. She said she, uh, went in to check on Abe. Noted that he was confused and she left. When she came back into the room, he was gone. He had none of the hospital cameras picked up any of his movements. Which makes it kind of hard to believe he was just wandering around out there.

You know what I feel?

It feels to me that someone had moved Abe in that hospital. We knew exactly where all the cameras were. It may be someone who worked in the hospital. But Kayla talked to everybody who was on duty that night. And she said no one saw any of that. That brings us right back to Nurse King. Okay. Eli did a background check on her.

And Kayla said she’s one of those exemplary employees. She’s had the same shift for 15 years. She never took any time off except for when her husband died a few years back. Oh, she left work early on the day Abe disappeared, right? She told the police she was sick. So she was sick on the day Abe disappeared, but didn’t miss a day of work for 15 years.

Until her husband died.

Hey, Mr. Johnson. Hey, Chanel. Come on in. Hey, Chanel. Hi, Mr. Black. I’m profoundly sorry, honey. I bet you’re here for those pictures your mom asked for. Yeah, Kayla found them. They’re right here. Thank you need?

Oh, no, thank you. We have everything we need and then some. Everyone’s been so kind. Coworkers, friends, total strangers. I mean, Abe’s nurse even stopped by to see if Mama was okay the other day. Nurse King? Um, I think that was her name. Uh, why?

Abe is fine. I had to sedate him, okay? Which is all your fault, by the way. My fault? What are you even talking about? Abe saw you on Body and Soul. And then he saw your name in the credits. He figured out that you’re not his son, so I had no choice but to give him a little break from reality. Oh my god, this isn’t right.

That’s what I came here to talk to you about, okay? I met Abe’s son and his daughter, and they’re wrecked. I mean, they love this guy, and they think that he’s dead. All because of you and this crazy scheme of yours. Okay, this is not some crazy scheme, Jerry. I love this man. He was meant for me and I’m the only one that can take care of him the way I can.

Yeah, right. Like you’re caring for him right now? Keeping him cooped up and sedated and away from his family? If you really cared about him, you would let him go. You shut up. You shut up! You have no idea what his life was like with those people. Yeah, you’re right. I don’t. And neither do you. But what I do know is that they’ll be grieving for no damn reason.

And that they’ll be crying at his funeral when he’s sitting in there, right under their noses. Yeah, well, not for long. I’m leaving Salem, and I’m taking Abraham with me.

Lonnie, I know that you’re out on parole in six months, and I don’t want you to do or say anything that might jeopardize you getting back to your family. Wow. So, in other words… In other words… I know that you, as someone who… Who’s been unfairly, um, separated from their children. You know, exactly, exactly how I feel.

I actually do. And Kristen, I want the best for you and for Rachel. I know how much you love her. But Brady is that child’s father. And he loves her too. Yeah, but I, I just, I don’t get to see her. I don’t, I know, Kristen, and I know you still have feelings for him. So, why do you want him to suffer? Huh?

All this time, Kristen, that I have been away from my babies. They’ve had Eli. Thank God. I can’t even imagine. How painful it would be for them to be separated from him right now. He is their world. And like it or not, that is what Brady is for Rachel. God, God watch me, why don’t you? Just think about it. Okay?

God. I have to get to the church. Look, I love you. I love you, too. You know that. Oh. I know.

You know what? I really wish I could be there at the service for you and Theo. I just don’t think anybody is gonna want me there. I would’ve wanted you there. Look, don’t, don’t worry about that. Okay? You just… You focus on reuniting your beautiful family. Do that.

It’s so wonderful to see you. Please, I just, I hope we get to see each other very soon. We will. Here. In Salem. Not in federal prison. Okay. Okay. I love you.

I will be. Civilized with Kristen, okay? Since when has civilized ever worked with her? Brady, let me do it. Wait, what? Let me go to the mansion and try to talk to her. No, uh, Marlena, you… No, no, no. I may not be a trained detective. But I am trained in knowing when somebody is lying to me. And I am trained in…

Having people open up to me. Man, nobody’s better at doing that than you, that’s for sure. Alright, I will go there as soon as I drop the pictures off. Okay, alright, alright, maybe, maybe, maybe you can get through to Kristen. Find out where my little girl is. I will do my damnedest. I know you will. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

And I didn’t think my father would fall in love with anyone else ever again. Not after my mother died. But, then he met this amazing woman, who changed his life. And she changed mine too. She always makes me feel important. She has a talent for that with everyone she cares about. And even when she made my dad angry, like when she was gonna demolish a town square, which would have been very dumb.

Oh, um, maybe I should… Take that part out. I know sometimes I can be too blunt. That’s very blunt, for sure. But, it’s, it’s, it’s true. So, keep it. Just, just keep it. Go on. Okay, um, where was I? Uh, oh, I got it. Um, And even when my dad was upset with her, They worked it out because they were made for each other. My dad really loved Paulina because she’s such a fun, interesting person.

And I love her too. I may not be her flesh and blood, but she treats me like I am.

I’ll take care of her, Dad.

I promise. Oh, we’ll take care of each other.

So, Nurse King came to your apartment? Yeah, Mama said she wanted to give her condolences when she found out the news that Ape had died. That was very nice of her. Yeah. I wonder how she got your address. Uh, she probably got it from his patient file. Or maybe she got it when she worked on Abe’s last mayoral campaign.

She was on Abe’s campaign? Yeah. She was a big supporter of his. She was even at the park for the Juneteenth celebration when they got married. Um. Anyway, um. I should get going. Thanks again for the treat. We’ll see you real soon, okay? Bye.

Kinda seems to me, we need to take a harder look at Nurse King.

What do you mean you’re leaving Salem? I’m quitting my job and I’m taking Abe somewhere far, far away from here where we can have a fresh start. I’ve been saving up for years, so we’ll lack for nothing. And speaking of money, there’s a big bonus in it for you if you would leave town too. You want me to leave Salem?

Why? Why do you think. You’re up to your neck in this mess too, and it would be better if you were away from here, somewhere, away from prying eyes and all the questions that you seem oh too ready to answer. But… Look, look, look, you’re an actor, right? You want to stay here and say hello to this? Nothing for you here.

Last I checked, they weren’t shooting any movies and TV shows here, right? No, definitely not. Okay. Well, look, I gotta get back in there to Abe. I’ll be in touch about the bonus. Just not a word to anyone. Okay?

Jerry. Why, why was he here? Oh, Theo forgot something. He had to come all the way back from South Africa. Isn’t that something? He’s not my son. It’s not Thea. Of course he’s your son. Silly. Don’t be so silly. Well, listen, I’ve got to go to the hospital and take care of a few things, but while I’m gone, you’re going to watch your stories.

Just let your friends from Pineview keep you company. What do you say? And when I come back… Darling, we’re going to start a whole new life together. Not the, uh, not my son.

Hmm. Well, I’m gonna see you two cupcakes and raise you, uh, a piece of gum. Am I interrupting? Uh, no. Um, it’s okay. Uh, you know, you could have used the front door like a normal person. I know. But then you wouldn’t have answered the door. I don’t mind going through the tunnels. I know my way around down there, having been held captive there a number of times.

Ah, yes, and so here you are. And to what do I owe the pleasure? Smart as you are, I think that you can figure out that I’m here on Brady’s behalf. About Rachel. Ah, and did you take a good look around for her while you were downstairs? In fact, I did. Yes, then you’d see for yourself that, uh, Rachel is not here.

I don’t believe you. Why don’t you make it easy on yourself? And everybody who loves Rachel. Tell me where my granddaughter is. So how you

holding up, son? Dad, I’m, uh, I’m nervous. Marlena just went over to confront Kristen about Rachel. Yeah, yeah, she told me that. Hang on a second. Hey, John. I just gave Kayla a ride back to the hospital. I’m gonna check and see if Nurse King is on shift. Maybe have a word with her. Alright, sounds good. Let me know what’s going on.

Will do.

Who are you, and why do you want to talk to me?

See, I told you they would accept you as their long lost heir, Kyle Von Furstenberg. Good

work. Well now, our business is concluded. Good. Because I’m tired of this charade. I am not Kyle.

I cannot see you either. It was a beautiful service, Mama. It was, wasn’t it? Seemed like the whole town was there. So many people I didn’t even know. Yeah. Uh, but I didn’t see Nurse King. Did, did any of you? No, but maybe she had work? I didn’t either, but I did see that guy Jerry at the back of the church.

Jerry, who was that? He’s the one who saw Dad fall into the river. Lonnie and I met him the other day. He was feeling guilty because he felt like he should have done more to save Dad, but… He can’t swim. Well, then what could he have done? That’s what I said. Well, I don’t know about the rest of you all, but I am ready to go home.

Yeah, me too. Wait, hey, Mom, do you mind if I just stay here for a little bit? I just, I need a minute. It’s not like they can’t keep tabs on me.

All right, all right, but just don’t stay too long. You know Rafe will be at the apartment soon because I know. He’s gonna take me back to prison. I know. Please do not worry. I will be there in time, okay?

Wait Before Lonnie and Eli showed up. You said that you had something to tell me. What is it? Oh I Just wanted to say again how terrible I feel about your dad, and I want you to know how Deep piece of her head.

Your psychological insight knows no bounds, really. You demand that I tell you what you want, but, uh, you really think that’s gonna work, Dr. Evans? Only yesterday, I helped you through hypnosis to get your memories back. When your sister kidnapped you. And injected you with mind altering drugs? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and I, I, I remember, uh, I thanked you for that.

Yes, but you didn’t pay me for it. Now, I, I, I don’t, uh, I don’t want your money. But you could pay me by letting me know where my granddaughter is. Hmm. Well, I’m sorry, I can’t help you with that. Kristen, you can’t keep going on like this. If you truly love Okay, just Stop.

If I did know where Rachel was, and I’m not saying I do, I’m not willing to give that information up for nothing.

I would need something in return.

Hopefully, hopefully Marlene will be able to get through to Chris. I was really hoping to hear from her by now. I just, um, gotta be patient. Hasn’t been that long yet.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. Dr. Abraham. Most honorable man I’ve ever known. Best friend that any man could ever ask for. Cheers. Cheers.

My name is Steve Johnson. I was a good friend of Mayor Carver’s. Oh, you’re Dr. Johnson’s husband. Oh, I recognize you from the hospital Christmas party. You’re the one eyed Santa. Yeah, that’s me. Yeah. Well, uh, what do you want to talk to me about? Well, Abe’s stepdaughter mentioned to me that, uh, you’d worked on his election campaign.

Oh, yes, I did. I’m a huge supporter of Mayor Carver. And you were at, uh, his wedding to Paulina Price? Well, I was at the Juneteenth celebration, if that’s what you mean, along with the whole town. I also woke up early to watch Princess Diana’s wedding. What does that have to do with anything? Well, I’m just wondering if you could tell me…

Exactly what Abe said to you before he disappeared. I’ve already told the police everything, and I don’t mean to be rude, but I really do have to get going. Actually, I need to speak with your wife. Do you know if she’s in her office? She is. She just got back. What do you need to talk to her about? Actually, I’m tendering my resignation.

Oh, really? Why’s that?

So, uh, how about I make some zucchini bread, or pumpkin bread, or oatmeal cookies? I’m not hungry. Mama, you have to eat. Maybe later. Do you believe what they said? What? Who said? Everyone. About how my dad’s in a better place.

I sure hope so, honey. Oh, I sure hope so.

Uh, what do you not understand about goodbye? You are dense. Go.

What now?
