Victor's Funeral on "Days of Our Lives" on Peacock

Monday

-EJ was suddenly dreaming about Susan dying. He wasn’t thinking about her before.

-EJ was able to find out where Xander and Chloe live. He has no reason to know about that.

-Theresa has been gone for years, but she is still in love with Brady.

-Theresa didn’t bring Tate with her for the funeral because he had school. Even if he’s back in school, they would have let him have time off for a death in the family.

Tuesday

-Sarah looked at her ring as if Rex just put it on her finger.

-It was daytime when Xander and Theresa saw each other, but it was nighttime in this episode.

-If Ava didn’t kill Susan, why was she seeing her face? She didn’t have to haunt her if she didn’t do anything to her.

-Who was keeping Theresa informed about what was going on in Salem? She knew too much about Xander’s relationship with Sarah and Chloe.

Wednesday

-Where did Talia get the money to change her hair? Speaking of hair, Chanel also managed to change her hairstyle.

-Jada suggested that she and Rafe go to his house. If they went to his house before, they wouldn’t have gotten caught.

-Why would Johnny defend Ava to EJ? Did he forget that Ava killed his grandmother?

Thursday

– Ciara was too far along to go to Victor’s funeral but Chelsea wasn’t. They were pregnant around the same time, yet Ciara couldn’t make it to the funeral.

– Why didn’t Will come with Sonny to Victor’s funeral?

– Why didn’t Claire come back for Victor’s funeral?

-Brady and Justin were sitting in the front row, but Philip was behind them at Victor’s funeral.

Friday

-Maggie can be heard talking while Sarah was shown.

-John didn’t go to Victor’s funeral. He had a relationship with Victor because of Isabella, so he should have been there.

Update written by Joseph

Marlena meets with the hospital John Doe in her office. He asks if she’s figured out the cause of his memory loss. She informs him that the MRI showed a past skull fracture but the good news is that he’s in excellent health. He guesses she can’t do anything for him. Marlena says she didn’t say that. He gets up and says he has a job to do as he has to find his son.

Outside the Kiriakis Mansion, Rex asks Sarah if she’s ready to go because Maggie is probably wondering where she is. Chloe tells Xander that they should get going as well. Sarah then stops and announces that her water just broke. Rex sits Sarah down and guesses they aren’t getting married before the baby is born. Xander thinks back to questioning Sarah about her pregnancy.

In the living room, Maggie tells Bonnie, Justin, Philip, and Kate how much it means to her that they are there for her. Bonnie says they will be there as long as she needs. Kate comments that out of all of Victor’s wives, she believes Maggie brought out the best in him. Kate calls Maggie the perfect match for Victor. Vivian Alamain then appears and remarks that it’s a matter of opinion, shocking the room. Maggie tells Vivian that she’s not welcome here. Kate adds that she’s not welcome anywhere. Maggie tells Vivian that she wants her out of her house now. Vivian responds that she is here to stay.

Marlena stops and tells the man that her husband John would like to talk to him because he’s been looking in to his background. Marlena asks him to wait. He complains that he feels he’s been waiting for an eternity already and he has no more time to waste. John then arrives. Marlena introduces him to John. He asks if John has any sign of his son. John says not yet, but he does know who Joseph Bell is. John explains that he and his partner just learned that he recently discharged himself from a VA hospital and the man in charge gave them his dogtags which John presents to him. He reads the name “Joseph Bell” and says if he says so. John acknowledges him having a hard time remembering but says he did come up with other information to jog his memory. John brings up Joseph serving in the Korean War. Joseph brings up Julie mentioning her uncle Tommy being in the Korean War and how that rang a bell. Marlena suggests they all sit down, so they do. Joseph asks John to tell him more. John talks about the platoon he was serving in Korea. John calls it an incredible coincidence but reveals that Joseph was in the same unit as his biological father, Timothy Robicheaux. He notes that it does sound familiar and asks to be told all about him.

Kate questions what the hell Vivian is doing here. Vivian responds that she came to pay respects to the love of her life. Justin argues that she is supposed to be in prison and assumes she was furloughed for the funeral. Maggie questions why since she isn’t family. Vivian calls Philip her son and hugs him. Kate argues that Vivian stole her embryo but that doesn’t mean Philip is her son. Vivian argues that Kate will never share the bond she and Philip have. Bonnie questions where Vivian’s guard or ankle monitor are if she was furloughed and guesses she must have escaped, so she instructs Maggie to call the police. Vivian declares that she was released on good behavior. Kate argues that she hasn’t gone a day in her life without breaking at least four laws. Vivian asks if they can just enjoy the good times for Victor’s sake. Maggie brings up Vivian trying to kill her and all her other crimes. Maggie says she should not be on the streets and she doesn’t want her in her home. Vivian felt they wouldn’t believe her so she shows the papers for her release. Justin confirms that it looks legit. Maggie tells Vivian that if Victor were here, he would say “get the hell out of my house, now”.

Rex checks on Sarah. Chloe offers to time her contractions. Xander says he will bring the car around to get her to the hospital. Sarah tells Rex that she feels like she needs to push now. Xander has a flashback to helping Sarah give birth in the past. Sarah then declares the baby is coming now.

Justin tells Maggie not to let Vivian get to her and that they will handle this. Vivian argues that Victor cherished hospitality, so Maggie is desecrating his memory. Bonnie says that Vivian is the one doing that. Vivian calls her “Adrienne”. Bonnie then clarifies who she is. Vivian calls Bonnie the gold digger who married Mickey Horton. Justin warns Vivian to watch how she talks to his wife. Vivian mocks Justin trading in Adrienne for a carbon copy. Maggie holds Bonnie back and argues that Vivian is the gold digger, who went after Victor three times. Vivian argues that they went after each other because they were soulmates. Vivian then flashes back to past arguments with Victor. Kate, Bonnie, and Maggie all agree that Vivian needs to go now but Vivian threatens to break one of Maggie’s figurines.

Rex sends Chloe to get his medical bag from his car. Xander worries about Sarah being too soon to give birth. Rex sends Xander to get towels and blankets. Sarah cries about her last birth while Rex promises that she’s with a real doctor and nothing will go wrong. Sarah worries about not being in a hospital. Sarah adds that she’s in so much pain and asks what if she slips and tells Xander that he’s the father.

John tells Joseph that he wishes he could tell him more about his father but he was adopted and spent most of his life not knowing who he was. John explains that eventually he learned that he was born John Robicheaux and that when he found his father, he had changed his name to Yo Ling and he was nothing but evil. Marlena asks if this is beginning to sound familiar. He repeats the name Timothy and has flashbacks to the war. He recalls being injured by an explosion and thinking another man was coming to help him but he stole his dog tags. John says he’s sorry about that. He tells him not to be sorry since they are helping him now. John asks if he has any idea why the other man went off with his dog tags. Marlena asks if he knows what happened next.

Rex encourages Sarah that she’s not going to slip up and tell Xander that he’s the father unless that’s what she wants. Sarah flashes back to Xander helping her give birth to her previous baby. Sarah acknowledges that Xander did everything he could to help Mackenzie then and he’s a good person, except for when he’s not. Xander then returns with towels and reminds Sarah of the birthing classes they did together, telling her to squeeze his hand as he flashes back to her previous giving birth.

Justin says there’s no reason for bloodshed this morning. Bonnie thinks Victor would approve. Philip asks Vivian to just go. Vivian refuses to leave until she gives her eulogy. Justin informs her that the funeral ended an hour ago which Vivian complains about. Kate threatens to throw her out. Vivian refuses to leave before the reading of the will. Maggie says that’s why she’s really here. Vivian claims that Victor’s money means nothing to her and that she’s only there for the interest of Philip. Kate repeats that he is not her son. Vivian argues that Philip could’ve been presumed dead when Victor’s will was last updated. Justin insists that he was the executor of the will and he’s confident that Philip is well taken care of while Vivian is not one of the inheritors. Vivian asks if she doesn’t even get something sentimental to remember Victor by. Justin states that they have not scheduled the reading of the will yet. Kate tells Vivian that they will call her but Vivian still refuses to leave. Justin decides that he will pull out the will now and prove that Vivian is not inheriting anything, so she will have no reason to ever come back again. Vivian asks Philip to get her a mimosa for the road. Justin then discovers that Victor’s will is gone.

The man recalls thinking he was going to die in the war, but he didn’t. John suggests maybe his father helped him after all. He remembers the other man leaving his own dog tags with him so that if he died, they would think it was him while he argued that his wife was pregnant and going to have a son. John realizes that means the dog tags found on him were not his own, so he is not Joseph Bell. John then removes his own tags from his neck and presents them, revealing that the John Doe is actually Timothy Robicheaux and he was right about having a son. John declares that all this time he’s been searching and now he has found him as John reveals that he is his son.

Kate asks Justin if he’s sure. Justin assures that Victor showed him the will before he went to Greece, so it has to be somewhere. Justin goes to call Victor’s estate attorneys. Kate tells Philip that neither of them are in the will but Victor had a secret trust fund for Philip while he was away in Europe. Philip says they can go then. Kate tells everyone else that she’s sure the will is going to be found and she wishes she could see the look on Vivian’s face when she finds out she’s not in it but she and Philip have to go. Kate apologizes for abandoning Maggie while Bonnie assures that they’ll be her backup. Vivian calls out to Philip that she’s glad he’s not dead as he exits with Kate. Justin finishes his call and announces that apparently, Victor called his estate attorneys while he was away and told them to destroy the will.

Timothy and John talk about searching for each other for their entire life. Marlena explains that he got stuck in the VA system after being wounded in the war and they don’t know a lot about John’s background, but they know that John was born on a rural farm in Louisiana. John notes that he was born after Timothy disappeared. Timothy says he must have had such a hard life without a father. John declares that all that matters is that he’s here now.

Rex, Xander, and Chloe guide Sarah through giving birth. Rex encourages that the baby is almost there as Sarah gives one last push. Sarah successfully gives birth and Rex announces that it’s a girl. Sarah holds her baby and talks about being afraid that it would be like replacing her previous child but says it’s just so much love. Sarah admits she was scared of something going wrong again but she’s perfect.

Philip and Kate go to the Brady Pub. Kate wonders how the funeral reception is going. Philip notes it wasn’t much of a party even before Vivian got there. Kate thought that Rex and Sarah might come back to the house before they left. Philip guesses they decided to skip it since neither of them knew Victor very well. Kate is glad Sarah was there for Maggie and relates to how she felt having both of her sons there for the first time in a long time. Kate tells Philip that he gave a lovely eulogy and asks if he’s alright. Philip guesses it hadn’t really sank in until the funeral that this time really is goodbye. Philip always thought he’d have a chance to redeem himself in Victor’s eyes before he died and live up to what he thought he could be. Philip flashes back to an emotional conversation with Victor before he left Salem. Kate assures Philip that Victor loved him unconditionally and would’ve done anything for him. Kate adds that she was adamant about Philip not coming home, but she knows Victor would be so glad he’s here and she is too.

Maggie questions Victor asking his estate lawyer to destroy the will. Justin adds that Victor did not create a new one either. Maggie asks what happens now. Justin states that if there is no will, everything goes to the surviving spouse, so Maggie inherits the entire estate. Vivian reveals that’s not really true.

Timothy asks John about his adoption. John says it’s complicated and he doesn’t even know the whole story. Timothy asks about his wife. John says she passed a few years ago. Timothy talks about being so determined to find him because he loved her so much. Marlena knows this is a lot to take in. Timothy declares that the man who helped him find his son turned out to be his son, which he calls a miracle.

Kate tells Philip that she’s glad they had this time together and adds that he was right to get them out of there. Kate admits that she would’ve loved to have seen the look on Vivian’s face when she finds out she’s inheriting nothing…

Maggie questions what Vivian means. Bonnie argues that Vivian is just trying to rile her as she’s been in prison and doesn’t know anything. Vivian declares that she is Victor’s surviving spouse. Justin questions how she figures that. Maggie points out that they have been divorced for over a decade. Vivian reveals that the papers were never properly filed so they never got an official divorce decree, so Maggie and Victor’s marriage is null and void. Vivian declares that she is the widow Kiriakis and she inherits everything.

Sarah holds her baby and thanks her for making her a mom again. Rex notes Sarah shivering. Chloe goes to get another blanket. Xander takes the baby and holds her. Sarah starts to say there is something he should know. Xander notes that Sarah is really pale. Rex asks if Sarah is alright. Sarah responds that she doesn’t know and passes out.

Timothy says that when he dreamed his son was nearby, that was fate guiding his hand. Marlena asks John if he’s okay. John talks about wanting to know who he was and where he came from. John says when he found out he wasn’t Roman Brady, every answer he got after that was worse than the one before it from the Alamains to the DiMeras to Yo Ling. John calls it hard to believe he could’ve been a good person with that bad blood in him and there were times he wasn’t a good person. Marlena encourages that what Stefano did to him was not his fault as he made himself the man he is and she’s so proud of him. John declares that Marlena made him that man. John tells Timothy that he made him that man. John can’t believe that he has found thee Timothy Robicheaux. Timothy can’t believe it either and credits Marlena for making it happen. Timothy tells John they’ll make sure they don’t lose each other again as they hug.

Why I think Days is Ridiculous 2023

Opinion Article

Random Rant by Jonathan Massey Moss

Leo (Kevin Rikaart) and Susan (Stacy Haiduk) on "Days of Our Lives' on Peacock

They just revealed that Susan Banks is alive. I’m not surprised – nobody dies in Salem! I doubted her death from day one. Some people hate her, but I find her hilarious. Some people also hate Leo, but I also find him hilarious. He has the funniest lines. I don’t care about the Dimitri triangle, but I guess he and Leo are well-suited. It’s obvious Dimitri will lose out on the money.

I don’t like Alex; he’s very annoying. I liked him much better when he was having casual flings – at least people don’t normally do that on the soaps. Perhaps Abby will return alive just before Chad and Stephanie get married…. that would be fun!

I am thankful the story line with Nurse Nuts and Abe is gone – that plot was tortuous. Speaking of tortuous, I liked the idea of Theresa coming back, but her character has been just annoying so far. It’s been a decade, so couldn’t she find someone else by now?

The residents of Salem have quite a few secrets. I’m not sure why they bother keeping them because they always come out. Salemites must have memories like goldfish.

I would hate to be Sloane when EJ finds out the baby isn’t his. Such a shame. I think Nichole and EJ are better suited. Wendy and Tripp are pretty boring, but it’s a good excuse for Lucas Adams to be shirtless. Xander and Chloes romance is obviously doomed – why are we even bothering with them?

Sonny is back, but what about Will? Oh, great, now I sound like some ridiculous fan whining about casting decisions…one of those who doesn’t realize that the showjust can’t afford lots of returnees.

People on social media were upset that Victor died in a plane crash instead of in his sleep. I don’t know what difference this makes, he’s dead either way. I did like Victor, though… he was funny and is already missed. RIP John.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

So, Doc, did you find out what happened to my memory? Well, yes. Uh, I think we got to the root cause, uh, with the help of the MRI. It seems that you had an old skull fracture long since healed. Boy, that’s a kick in the head. But the good news is you’re in excellent health. But the bad news is you can’t do anything for me.

I didn’t say that. It’s okay. It’s okay. I appreciated you talking. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Where are you going? I got a job to do. Gotta find my son.

Ready to go, sweetheart? I’m sure Maggie’s wondering where you are.

Hey, Xander. Uh, we should probably get going. Yeah, right. Of course. No! Sarah, what’s wrong? Oh, no. Sarah? What is it? My water just broke. Ugh.

Okay. Ugh. Looks like we’re not getting married before the baby’s born. Happy birthday, little one.

Rex got you pregnant. He does have all the working parts. That’s not what I meant. Lucky you. Looked like you were ready to deliver. Certainly far enough along that you must have gotten pregnant before you left Salem. Meaning… Meaning what? Rex and I didn’t get involved until I got to Chicago, but, yeah, there was once here in Salem before I moved.

Sometimes once is all it takes. Please, yeah, Maggie told me that you’d gotten back with that jerk, but it’s a bit convenient, isn’t it? Once. With Rex, versus, what, how many times when we were together. You know, I don’t really recall. I’ve been trying to forget.

I can’t tell you all how much it means to me to have you all here with me. We’ll be here for you for as long as you need, Maggie. Of course we will. And Maggie, even though Victor had almost as many wives as Henry VIII, I do believe That you brought out the best in him. In fact, of all of the women in his life…

You are the perfect match for Victor. That is most assuredly a matter of opinion. Oh my god. Vivian Alamein. The one and only, in case there’s some question on that point. Put that down. You’re not welcome here. She’s not welcome anywhere. Oh, Kate. I so missed your derivative wit. Vivian, I don’t know how to put this nicely.

I want you out of my house. Now. Oh, Maggie, those are empty words, because I’m here to stay.

Cheers. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Uh, listen, my, my husband John is coming over, and he’d like to talk to you. Why? Well, as I told you, he’s a private investigator, and he’s been looking into your background, and can you just please, please wait? You know, I feel like I’ve been waiting for an eternity already. Look, you’ve all been so very, very nice, but I haven’t got any more time to waste.

Well, if you, uh, John! Sorry I’m late. Uh, I, uh, I’d like you to meet my husband, John. Pleased to meet you, sir. Your wife’s been telling me you’re working on my case. Any sign of my son? Well, not yet. But I do know who you are.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

You know who I am? Well, my partner and I, we, uh, we just learned that you recently discharged yourself from a VA hospital in a neighboring town. And the director there, he gave me your dog tags from when you were in the army many years ago. And we think that this is you. What, Joseph Bell? You say so. Well, the director, Mr.

Dugan, he said you were having a hard time remembering that name. But you know what? I’ve come up with some other information that might jog your memory. About my son? No, about you. Sir, it seems that you served in the Korean War. Oh. Oh? Yes. You know, I was talking to that nice lady out in the lobby, uh, uh, Julie Williams.

And she mentioned her uncle was in the Korean War. Somehow that rang a bell. Well, uh, why don’t we all sit down? Yeah, yeah, that’s a good idea. Sure. Here you go.

So, John, tell me more. Well,

it seems that, um, we found out what platoon you were serving in in Korea. Now, this is going to sound like an incredible coincidence, but you were in the same unit as my biological father. And his name was Timothy Robichaud. Does that name mean anything to you? Roachel? Timothy?

That does sound familiar. Maybe we were friends?

Tell me more. Tell me all about him.

What the hell are you doing here, Vivian? Where else would I be? I’ve come to pay respects. Bid adieu to the love of my life. But you’re in prison, or you should be. Yeah, so what happened? I assume she was furloughed for the funeral. Why? She’s not family. Not family? How, how dare you say that in front of my son?

And here we go. Oh, Philip. Philip. I missed you so much. Vivian, would you give it a rest, okay? Just because you stole my embryo doesn’t mean my son is your son. He is the fruit of my womb. You will never share the bond we have. Hold on a second. If she’s furloughed, where’s her guard? In fact, where’s her ankle monitor?

I bet she’s escaped. Maggie, call the cops right now. I did not escape. I was released on good behavior. Good behavior? You haven’t gone a day in your life without breaking at least four laws. Or five or six commandments. Oh, for God’s sake, for Victor’s sake, can’t we just enjoy the past times that we’ve had, the good times?

Okay, well, the last good time was when you were stuck in a sarcophagus and I don’t know why the hell they let you out. You tried to kill me. Me twice. And not to mention all the, um, I don’t know, the slew of other crimes. You should not be out on the street. And I want you out of my home. I had a feeling you wouldn’t believe me.

How could we ever not believe you? So, I came prepared. Here are my papers for my release.

Holy cow. Looks legit. Don’t you just love our justice system? Vivian. If Victor

were here, I know exactly what he’d say to you. Get the hell out of my house! Now!

Sarah? Sarah, can you make it to the car? Just give me a second. Alright, do you have any contractions? Uh huh. Yup, I felt some twinges during the service. Why didn’t you say anything? Because I thought that they were Braxton Hicks and I didn’t want to interrupt the memorial. You know what? I will time your contractions.

Yeah, no, I’ll bring the car around so we can Just breathe. Rex, I feel like I need to push.

Oh my god. What? I feel like I need to push. Push? Yeah. I’m sorry to tell

you this, alright? Don’t let her get to you. Maggie, you know how Victor cherished hospitality. You are desecrating his memory. No, actually, you’re the one doing that. Oh, do shut up, Adrian. I’m not Adrian. I’m Bonnie Lockhart. Who on earth is Bonnie Lockhart? Wait a minute, it’s coming to me. You’re the gold digger that snagged, uh, married…

Vicki Horton. Watch how you talk about my wife. Your wife? Did you? Did you trade Adrian for a carbon copy? The way I did when Nicholas lost his beloved Cocker Spaniel? How dare you? Ah! I’m gonna take up for Bonnie right now. If there is a gold digger here, it’s you. You are the one who went after Victor. The first time, the second time, and the third time.

No, no, no, that is not true. We went after each other again and again and again because we were soulmates. That red headed, butter wooden, melt in your mouth woman has turned you against me, hasn’t she? Now stop it right there. Now I’ve let you get away with a lot. Mainly because I don’t listen to most of what you say.

But there are major, major ground rules. You will never talk that way about Maggie Horton again. She is a far better person than either one of us have a right to know.

You stop? You know you would do better not to mention her name at all. She has turned you against me, hasn’t she? Woman, do you want a wedding today or not? It transcended the intellectual. It was magical. I could also give you a lovely piece of heaven.

Oh my god, my eyes!

Spiritual. It was… sexual. Okay, you need to leave now. Right now. Get out of here. You take another step towards me and she gets need you to breathe through this for me, okay? Oh my god, not again. What the hell are you looking at? Is she gonna have a baby soon? Better than in the backseat of a moving car.

Speaking of which, can you grab my medical bag for mine? Thank you. Turn that damn picture around! Will do.

So should I like, uh, boil some water or something? You know what I need? I need clean towels and blankets from you, okay? There’s some in the garden shed. Well, you would know. It’s closer than the house. Look, I know I didn’t pay you as early, but this is 36 weeks at full time. Yeah, but even so, just grab the damn towel!

I know, I know, I know. Rex, please promise me that the same thing that happened with McKenzie isn’t gonna happen again. Look at me. You are not in a car accident this time. Real doctor delivering this baby. You are full term. You are healthy. Nothing, nothing is going to happen to you or this baby. I promise.

You trust

me? Of course I do. Okay. I know how many things can go wrong. I should be in a hospital. And Rex also. What? I am half out of my mind in pain. What if I slip and tell Xander that he’s the baby’s father?

Well, I wish I had more to tell you about my father, but you see, I was adopted at a very young age, and like yourself, I spent, uh, Well, most of my life not knowing who I was. Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Thank you. But eventually I learned that I was born John. Well, Michelle, and my, my father, um,

he was a deserter from Korea up to China. He changed his name, called himself Yuling. And when I finally met up with him, he was a man that was just filled with hatred. He was nothing but evil. Timothy. Well, Michelle. Do you know that name? Is it beginning to sound familiar? The fighting. And the noise.

Timothy.

We’d been in a foxhole together. But an explosion hit. I had been knocked off my feet. But he was thrown clear. There was this terrible pain in the back of my head. And so much blood, I thought I was dying. I I called out for help.

We found him. I thought he was going to help me. But instead… What are you doing? He’s every man for himself.

He didn’t help me. He went off with my dog tags. I’m sorry about that. There’s nobody sorry. You two are helping me now. Do you have any idea why he went off with your dog tags? And do you know what happened next? Ah.

You are not going to slip up. You’re not going to tell Xander that he’s a father. Unless of course that’s what you want.

What You need to go see if Adrian has a blanket in the back. On it.

And I know they didn’t cover this. Remember, I think last week you were going to have to deliver this baby.

Xander did everything he could to keep Mackenzie safe. He’s a good person.

Except for that. Great.

Remember that birthing class we did, just visualize the pain and grab my hand and squeeze it as hard as you can.

You just need to talk me through this, okay? Okay. On the next contraction, I’m going to start pushing and hopefully all goes well. All you have to do is catch the baby. Okay. Sandra, I’m so sorry for what I said to you. Because if I had to pick anyone to be here, it wouldn’t be Eric, it would be you. I was gonna be here whether you liked it or not.

I just didn’t expect it to be by the side of a road. The contraction is starting, I can’t wait to start pushing. Okay, there’s no reason for bloodshed this morning. Really? I think Victor would approve. Vivian, could you please just go? I’m not leaving until I’ve delivered my eulogy. The funeral is over. It ended an hour ago.

An hour ago? Where’s this Fred? Ugh, Victor. You walked like a god among a gaggle of peasants. Okay, well the peasants are about to revolt and throw you out on your ass, so… I’m not leaving before the reading of the will. Uh huh. And now we know why you’re really here. Oh, please. Victor’s money means nothing to me.

I am a woman of substantial means. I’m only here in the interest of my son, Philip. He’s not your son. Who was probably presumed dead when the will was updated. How the hell would you know when the will was updated? A good attorney would know. Good being the operative word. I was the executor. The estate attorneys actually drafted the will.

But I am confident in saying that Philip is being well taken care of, and you are not one of his inheritors. Not even a bauble? Something sentimental to remember him by? We haven’t scheduled the reading of the will yet. Don’t call us Vivian. We’ll call you. I’m not going.

I will pull out the damn will right now and prove that you are not inheriting anything that way. You have no reason to ever come back here again. Philip, please get your mother another mimosa. Just one? For the road? And put a shot of vodka in it, please.

Justin? Is there a problem? Yeah. It’s Victor’s will. It’s gone. I thought

I was gonna die. But I didn’t. Well, then maybe my father helped you after all. I’m

not sitting here waiting for another bomb to blast me to smithereens. But I can’t move. Get a medic. I’m dying. Is that right? Well, if there’s gonna be a body anyway, let them think I’m dead. Don’t leave me. My wife’s gonna have a baby. She’s such a shirts of wood. Lucky you. You can’t just leave me here!

Watch me. Sayonara,

man. Sir, are you… Are you saying that these dog tags aren’t yours?

Joseph Bell, I wonder if it would make any sense.

That’s because your name is Timothy Robichaux. And your wife was right, she had a son. His name was John Robichaux. Are you saying… I’m John Robichaux? All this time you’ve been searching for your son. Sir, your search is over.

Justin, are you sure that’s where Victor kept his will? Positive. He showed it to me before he went to Greece. It has to be somewhere. You know, I’m gonna call his estate attorneys.

Okay. Neither of us are in the will. But Victor set up a secret trust for you while you were in your room, so you will be taken care of. Then let’s get the hell out of here. Yes. Let’s. As scintillating as this has been, I am sure the will will be found. Vivian, I wish I could be here to see the look on your face when you find out that you are not in the will.

Anyway, Philip and I are famished, so we’re going to have to go. Maggie, I’m so sorry to have abandoned you. No, don’t worry. She’s got reinforcements. Goodbye, my darling boy. I’m so glad you’re not dead. So few people you can sincerely say that about.

Justin? What is it? Apparently, um… Victor called his estate attorneys while he was away on his final trip and told him. Told him what? To destroy the will.

My son, I’ve been looking for you my entire life. As I had searched for you. But is You VA system.

After you were, after you were wounded in the war. And we don’t know a lot about John’s background, but we do know that um, You came from a farm, and John was born on a rural farm in Louisiana. Yes. And my wife, my wife was pregnant. Maud. Maud. Her name was Maud. You brought her up. You never knew my name because I was born after you disappeared.

Oh, you must have had such a hard life. No father, Lord. I’m so sorry. That’s not your fault. You’re here now. And that is the only thing that matters to me. You’re here, now. Okay, Sarah, when I tell you, you’re gonna have to push for me, okay? I don’t know if I can, it hurts so much! You can, Sarah, just remember the relaxation techniques.

Jump on a beach and bim bam! Screw Bimini and screw you! Yes! Sarah, push. You okay? My engagement ring’s digging into my hand. Well, maybe you should take it off. You’re crowding. No, I want to sit up, I want to sit up, I want to sit up. Here, lean on my head. Let me help you. Alright, Sarah, look at me, look at me.

Baby’s almost here. One more push, okay? You got this. Push. Baby’s coming. Push.

It’s, it’s a girl!

It’s a girl! She’s beautiful! I was so I had another girl that it would be like replacing Mackenzie, but… Now that I’m holding her, all I so much love.

I was so scared something was gonna go wrong again, but she’s perfect. You did it. We did it. Jimmy. It’s the baby. She is fine. And very pretty. Just like her mother. Hello, girl. Say hello to your mom.

Yeah. So, I wonder how the funeral reception’s going. Wasn’t much of a party, even before Vivian got there. Yeah. Well, I just thought that, uh, that Rex and Sarah might come back to the house before we left. Maybe they decided to skip it. Neither of them knew Dad very well. Yeah. Well, I’m glad that Sarah was there for Maggie, though.

I mean, I know how much it meant to me to have my two sons with me. It’s been a long time. That was a really lovely eulogy, Philip. Thanks.

Are you alright?

I guess it really hadn’t sank in till the funeral. This time it really is goodbye.

I always thought I’d have a chance to, you know, redeem myself in Dad’s eyes before he died. To live up to what he thought I could be. I

don’t want you to leave in anger. We’ve come too far for that. And despite my protestations, I’ll support your decision to leave Salem. I won’t stand in your way. What I won’t give up is the growth that you and I have had in coming closer together. We’ve worked so damn hard to achieve it. Important to me.

I love you, Dad. I love you too, son.

I’ll be in touch, I promise. He loved you unconditionally, and he would have done anything for you.

And as adamant as I was about you not coming home, I know that he would be so glad that you’re here. And I am too.

He asked his estate lawyer to destroy the will? Did he file a new one? No. Well, I’m no lawyer, but doesn’t that mean Victor died in test state? What happens now, Justin? Well, if there is no will on record, per the laws of the state, everything goes to the surviving spouse. So Maggie, you inherit the entire estate.

That’s not really true.

My handsome son. I think there’s a resemblance, don’t you? Well, I certainly do. You said you were adopted. Why didn’t Ma dare? Well, that’s, uh, that’s, uh, that’s complicated. I don’t even know the whole story. You know what happened to her? Yes, I do. Um, I’m sorry, but she, she passed a few years ago. Oh, you know, I think a part of me knew that.

That’s why I was so determined to find you. I loved you before I knew you. Because I loved her so much. Mr. Doe. Timothy. Timothy, thank you. I know this is a lot for you to take in. It is. The man who helped me find my son. Turned out to be my son. Quite a coincidence. I’d say it was a miracle.

I’m glad that we’ve had this time together. Me too. You were right to get us out of there. Although I have to admit… I would have loved to have seen her face when she found out that she was inheriting Lopkis.

What do you mean I don’t inherit Victor’s estate? She’s just trying to rile you. She’s been in prison. She doesn’t know nothing about nothing. Don’t I? Justin just said that Victor’s surviving spouse gets everything. And that’s moi. How do you figure that, Vivian? I mean, I know you basically blackmailed Victor into marrying you twice.

And then you put Maggie in a sarcophagus and tried to kill her. And he washed his hands of you. You’ve been divorced for over a decade. I know everyone thinks that. But the papers were never properly filed. We never got a real divorce decree. That can’t be. Oh, but it is. So Maggie and Victor’s barrenge is null and void.

I am the Widow Kiriakis and I inherit everything.

Thank you for making me a mommy again. Carole, honey, you’re shivering. Are you cold? I’ll go get another blanket. Hey, uh, let me help. Can I, can I maybe take a, take it for a second?

There’s, there’s something I should tell you. There’s, there’s something you should, you should know, right? Greggs? She’s really pale. Sarah? What’s up? You alright? I, I don’t, I don’t, I don’t know.

Sarah?

Sarah? Sarah? See, when I dreamed that my son was nearby, that was fate guiding my hand. You know, like that movie where the baseball field appeared in all the corn. You like baseball? Does he like baseball?

Honey, you okay?

All I wanted was to know who I was and where I came from.

When I found out I wasn’t Roman Brady, Every answer I got after that was worse than the one before. Uh, I came from, from the Alamains. No, no, no. I came from the, the Damiras. No, it was Yoling. And that man wanted me dead. What? It’s just, it was hard to even believe that I, I, I could have been a good person with all that, that bad blood inside of me.

In fact, there were times when I wasn’t a good person. What Stefano did to you was not your fault. You made yourself the man that you are. And I am so proud of

you. You made me that man, Doc.

And sir, you made me that man. My God, I can’t believe I have found thee, Timothy Robichaud. I can’t believe it either. And your wife made this happen. Let’s make sure we don’t lose each other again.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Alex arrives outside the Kiriakis Mansion for Victor’s funeral. Alex talks about how he can’t believe Victor is actually gone and how he keeps thinking he will come back. Alex states that Victor and Maggie had a love stronger than space and time that never dies. Bo’s daughter, Chelsea Brady arrives and says she couldn’t agree more. Alex mentions hearing that she was flying in as Chelsea introduces herself to him.

Kate sits at the Pub, reading an article about Victor’s funeral. Kate declares that Victor will be missed despite it all. Philip enters and greets her. Kate remarks that he finally remembered he has a mother.

Brady gets a call from Theresa and questions what she wants. Theresa asks if he wants to go to Victor’s funeral together as a family. Brady responds that they may be co-parents but they are definitely not family and never will be. Brady then hangs up as Belle and Shawn arrive.

Justin and Bonnie enter the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Justin talks about always expecting to see Victor when he walks in the room. Sonny joins them and talks about how Victor did care for them all in his own weird way. They then toast to Victor. Xander walks in and says if they are celebrating Victor’s demise, they can count him in.

Maggie sits in her room with her and Victor’s wedding photo, asking how she can ever say goodbye to him. Sarah enters and hugs her. Sarah says she’s sorry Melissa couldn’t be there. Maggie mentions having a video call with her this morning along with Nathan and Melanie. Sarah is glad she got to speak to them. Maggie comments that they are going to have a house full of Kiriakis’ to honor Victor.

Sonny tells Xander that they are toasting to Victor’s memory, not celebrating his demise. Xander says that’s what he meant and that he misspoke. Sonny doesn’t want to hear it and argues that he’s so glad that Sarah left him and is with Rex now. Sonny declares thank God that Sarah is having Rex’s baby and not Xander’s. Bonnie slips up and says that’s not true.

Kate complains about Philip coming back to town after she begged him not to and he didn’t even have the guts to tell her that he was there. Kate reminds him that she put her own freedom at risk to make sure he was safe and sound, away from the authorities. Philip informs Kate that Brady agreed not to press charges, so there’s no worries. Kate argues that it’s just like when he was 16 and he thought he could get out of any trouble. Kate questions where Philip was all this time. Philip informs her that he went to see Lucas in prison. Kate is glad but notes that he couldn’t have been there the whole time. Philip then admits that he was with Chloe.

Rex runs into Chloe in the town square and jokes with her about having to face a bunch of grieving Kiriakis family members. Rex congratulates Chloe on her engagement and says he wishes them the best. Chloe remarks that she bets he does because her engagement keeps Xander away from Sarah and the baby she’s carrying.

Xander and Sonny question Bonnie saying that’s not true. Bonnie claims that she means Sonny calling Xander a horror show is not true. Sonny questions if she’s seriously defending Xander, reminding her that he locked her and Susan in the gardening shed. Bonnie says he feels really bad about it. Sonny questions all being forgiven and blames Xander for Susan being dead. Sonny brings up Gwen and Leo being in Xander’s scheme. Xander explains that Sonny can’t stand the sight of him because he ruined his affair with Leo. Justin gets in between them and says that’s enough as this is the last thing Maggie needs today.

Sarah suggests a necklace for Maggie to wear. Maggie cries about Victor getting it for their anniversary. Sarah encourages that Victor and Maggie had something so special. Maggie knows at some point, she’ll be grateful for all the time that she had with Victor, but right now all she feels is longing for him. Sarah reminds Maggie that she always has her and so many people around her that love her, so she’s not alone and never will be as she hugs her.

Brady asks how Shawn is holding up. Shawn responds that he’s a lot better since he’s been seeing Marlena. Brady encourages that Marlena can help him. Brady’s phone goes off and complains that Theresa will not take no for an answer. Belle asks what she wants. Brady informs them that Theresa wants to get back together.

Alex apologizes for not recognizing Chelsea. Chelsea says she knows who Alex is from seeing his photo online in various publications. Chelsea understands Alex not recognizing her because they didn’t grow up together and adds that she didn’t even know Bo was her dad until high school. Alex tells her that he’s really sorry about her dad. Chelsea thanks him and says she’s still hoping he pulls through. Chelsea adds that being without Victor doesn’t seem right. Alex agrees that he had a huge presence on all of them. Chelsea says she’s been living in London for the past decade, so she feels guilty for not coming home more to see Victor. Theresa then arrives and greets Chelsea as they hug. Chelsea asks about her son Tate. Theresa explains not taking him out of school, so she’s representing both of them and is there for Brady as well. Theresa tells Chelsea that she’s so sorry about Victor and asks about Bo. Chelsea says there’s been no improvement. Chelsea introduces Theresa and Alex, explaining that Alex is her cousin on the Kiriakis side while Theresa is her cousin on the Brady side. Alex and Theresa meet, acknowledging that they are not related. Chelsea says it was great to see them both, but she’s going inside to see Victor before the funeral starts. Alex says they will catch up after the service. Alex tells Theresa that it’s nice to finally meet her. Theresa guesses he’s heard a lot about her but insists that she’s a wonderful person with a soft heart. Theresa hopes Brady will see her that way too. Alex asks if she’s hoping for a redo with him. Theresa confirms that she hoped Victor’s passing would bring them closer. Theresa adds that she and Brady will always have a lifelong connection because of their son but this really brings it home. Alex asks what Brady thinks about her being back. Theresa responds that he’s fine with it, except he wants nothing to do with her.

Belle asks what Brady said when Theresa suggested getting back together. Brady responds that he said in no uncertain terms that they will never ever get back together. Belle questions if Brady would never consider it. Brady reminds Belle of the hell that Theresa put him through and assures that he learned his lesson from Rachel’s custody case that some women are irredeemable. Shawn questions comparing Theresa to Kristen. Brady knows Theresa hasn’t reached Kristen’s treachery levels, but says to give her time.

Chloe tells Rex that he has to admit that he was tremendously relieved to find out that Xander had moved on. Rex insists that he’s just happy for her. Chloe admits she was kind of freaked out when she found out Sarah was pregnant, because if the baby turned out to be Xander’s then her engagement would’ve blown up before it even started.

Justin asks Sonny to let this go since Victor would not want them at each others’ throats today. Sonny remarks that Victor did always love a good family brawl which Xander agrees with. Bonnie points out that Maggie also wouldn’t like this and the last thing she needs is for them to come to blows. Bonnie says she will go check with Henderson to make sure everything is set up. Bonnie instructs them to behave which they agree to do for Maggie. Bonnie then exits.

Sarah asks Maggie if she’s ready to go downstairs. Maggie says she will be in a minute. Maggie then tells Sarah that it’s not too late to tell Xander the truth.

Philip tells Kate that he couldn’t have lived with himself if he didn’t say goodbye to Victor since they had so much unfinished business. Kate knows that Victor was hard on him, but assures that he did love him with all his heart. Philip suggests they should get to the mansion. Kate stops him and asks about him being with Chloe before coming here. Kate wonders if he went to see Chloe because he still loves her.

Rex admits to Chloe that her and Xander being engaged is not the worst thing to happen to his relationship with Sarah. Chloe jokes that he’s being honest for once. Rex then says that they are being forthcoming, so he asks how Chloe felt when Philip showed up at her door, alive and well. Chloe admits she was shocked to know that he was alive and to learn the horrible things he did to Brady. Rex points out that Philip was not in his right mind. Chloe acknowledges that and she’s glad he got the help he needed. Chloe adds that maybe one day they could be friends again. Rex says he’s sure Philip would like that. Chloe says she has to get going and she will see him at Victor’s memorial.

Kate tells Philip that he doesn’t have to answer because she can see in his eyes that he is as in love with Chloe as he was in high school. Philip argues that how he feels about Chloe doesn’t matter because she’s engaged to Xander. Philip suggests they go pay tribute to his father now. Kate warns him that this conversation has not ended as they exit the Pub together.

Brady thinks he deserves a nice, calm relationship with a decent woman after all he’s been through and he doesn’t think that applies to Theresa. Shawn acknowledges that his cousin Theresa can be a handful. Belle suggests they get going so they aren’t late for the service, so they exit together.

Alex asks Theresa what makes her so sure that Brady isn’t in to her. Theresa responds that he told her straight out and then treated her like something on the bottom of his shoe. Alex calls that interesting because the old Alex would encourage her to pursue Brady non stop while the new Alex would tell her that she probably has to take Brady’s word and back the hell off. Theresa jokes that she likes the old him better. Alex says he got in to a lot of trouble then. Theresa responds that she happens to like all sorts of trouble.

Sarah knows Maggie means well but her emotions are all over the place right now. Maggie argues that not telling Xander that he’s the father of her baby is not fair and not right. Sarah argues that they have been over this and says she has to trust her that no good would come out of this particular truth coming out. Chelsea then enters and asks what truth that would be. Maggie is thrilled to see her and excitedly hugs her. Chelsea says she had to come for Victor and for Maggie. Maggie thanks her. Maggie then introduces Chelsea to Sarah. Sarah mentions hearing so much about her and says it’s so good to finally meet her. Maggie wishes Bo and Hope could be there but she understands why they can’t be. Sarah mentions Ciara sending a beautiful bouquet. Chelsea says they all loved Victor and he will always have a special place in her heart. Sarah gets a text that the service is starting soon and says they should get going. Maggie says she’ll be right there. Sarah hugs her and says she will see her there as Sarah and Chelsea then exit the room. Maggie goes back to her and Victor’s wedding photo and cries before exiting the room.

The family gather outside for Victor’s memorial. Justin, Maggie, and Brady are seated in front with an open seat. Theresa approaches the seat next to Brady but then stops and sits next to Alex in the second row instead. Sarah and Rex then arrive with Sarah taking a seat next to Maggie. Shawn and Belle arrive and Chelsea arrives behind, surprising them and they hug. Shawn calls it unfortunate that Ben and Ciara couldn’t be there. Belle asks how Chelsea and Max are doing being no parents. Chelsea says it’s been great but she wishes they lived closer so they could see everybody more often. Chelsea then goes over and hugs Kate, saying it’s so good to see her. Justin stands and decides to begin the service. Justin talks about Victor wanting a small and informal ceremony. Justin calls on anyone who wants to offer a remembrance. Justin acknowledges that Chelsea wanted to start. Chelsea stands and asks what do you say about a guy like Victor Kiriakis. Chelsea calls Victor larger than life. Chelsea talks about Bo not finding out Victor was his father until he was a grown up and how he struggled with his identity as a Kiriakis and a Brady. Chelsea says no matter the strain Bo had with Victor, she always felt that Victor really loved her, her siblings, and all their kids. Chelsea declares the one thing she will remember about Victor is how loved she always felt whenever she was with him. Sonny stands next and jokes about how Victor could’ve taught King Lear and Zeus about family in-fighting but there was another side to Victor that was caring and loving that they didn’t see a lot until Victor found out he had a daughter, Isabella, who was the first to chip away at Victor’s heart but certainly wasn’t the last as that was Maggie. Sonny states that Maggie somehow convinced the powerful Victor Kiriakis to make his family a priority and not a power play. Sonny adds that Victor was so lucky to have Maggie and the whole family is better because of her. Sonny tells Maggie that he loves her as he finishes. Justin then stands and talks about the look on Victor’s face when he would tell him how to live his life, joking that had a very unique style of meddling. Justin says he hated it but he always knew that Victor did it because he loved him so deeply and that he would lay down his life for him and the people he loved. Justin cries that he will miss his dear Uncle Vic, now and forever. Xander stands next and says he may just be the bastard Kiriakis but he always found that he and Victor were cut from similar cloth. Xander says he understood what drove Victor and why he was so often driven in ways that proved to be calamitous. Xander thinks they all know that Victor loved ferociously and fought very hard to make sure that Maggie and his children had the best lives possible. Xander intends to emulate his Uncle Vic and do the same, if God ever blesses him with children. Philip stands and says he was the only one of Victor’s children who had the distinction and sometimes burden of being raised by him, so when he looks back, he remembers how proud Victor was when he did something to please him which wasn’t often enough. Philip recalls Victor’s looks of disappointment when he let him down which was way too often. Philip hopes that Victor can see that he’s still trying to be the man worthy of his love and respect. Belle gets up and helps Philip to his seat as he breaks down crying. Brady stands and talks about how his grandfather was their patriarch. Brady says that Victor always taught them lessons and he will miss that about him until they fly together again. Belle asks if Shawn doesn’t want to say anything. Shawn responds that there’s no point. Justin stands to close the service by reading a poem from one of Victor’s favorite poets to a montage of memories of Victor.

Brady and Alex walk through the town square where they run in to Theresa, who comments on the lovely service. Brady questions if she followed him. Theresa explains that Bonnie told her that they came to pick up food so she thought she could help and she’s starving. Brady tells her that she can go to the Brady Pub. Alex feels that’s no way for Brady to treat his kid’s mom. Brady asks Alex to stay out of it. Theresa remarks that at least someone in the family still has manners. Theresa adds that she’d love to get to know Alex better and suggests they have dinner this weekend. Brady thought she was going back to California but Theresa reveals that she’s thinking about sticking around for a little while. Theresa tells Alex to let her know about dinner and walks away.

Belle and Chelsea hug outside the Pub. Belle can’t believe that Chelsea is leaving already. Chelsea wishes she could stay longer. Belle talks about how her and Shawn always talk about wanting to visit in London. Chelsea encourages that they should and asks where Shawn is. Belle says that Shawn went in to the Pub to pack her a lunch, but notes that he has been awhile so she wonders what’s keeping him.

Shawn packs a lunch for Chelsea at the Pub but ends up behind the bar where he grabs a bottle of alcohol and takes a drink.

Rex asks Sarah if she’s ready to go because Maggie is probably wondering where she is. Chloe tells Xander that they should get going as well. Sarah then stops and announces that her water just broke.

Vivian Alamain then appears and remarks that it’s a matter of opinion, leaving the room shocked.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

I can’t believe you’re actually gone, Uncle Vic.

You know, I keep thinking that any day now you’re going to show up. You’re going to be laughing at all of us for being gullible enough to think you’re actually dead.

And you’re going to take Maggie in your arms. She’s gonna be so happy, and relieved, and…

Man, you too.

You too had a love that was stronger than space or time.

The kind of love like that, that never dies. I couldn’t agree more. Hey. I heard you were flying in. You’re um, Poe’s daughter, right? Not Ciara, but… Chelsea. Chelsea Brady. Hi.

You

will be missed, Victor. Despite it all.

Hey, Mom.

Ev, you finally remembered you have a mother.

What do you want, Teresa? I was just calling to see if you wanted to go to your grandfather’s funeral together. You know, as a family. Teresa, we may be co parents, okay, but we are definitely not family. Not now, not ever.

I wonder how long it will take before I walk into this room and don’t expect to see Uncle Victor on the couch complaining about something or other. Like me having that second helping of bacon at breakfast? Or how my hack of a husband couldn’t be bothered to accompany us on this momentous family occasion.

Or how I’m disappointing him pretty much on a daily basis. But you know what? He did really love and care for us all. In his own weird curmudgeon y way. Well, what do you say we toast the old man? Yes. Yasu, Victor. Yasu, Victor. Yasu, Victor. Celebrating Uncle Vic’s demise, are we? Come here.

Oh, my darling Vic. Will

I ever say goodbye to you? Like

sand through the hourglass. To the days of our lives. Hey, Mom.

Oh, Sarah. I’m

so glad you’re here. Where else would I be?

I’m just, I’m sorry that Melissa couldn’t be here. As am I. But she was getting over a nasty bug. I had a video call from her and Nathan and Melanie this morning. They send their love. I’m really glad that you got to speak to them. Me too. But we’re gonna have a house full of Curiatas. Tawn or Victor. Heaven help us.

We’re not celebrating Uncle Vic being gone. We’re toasting to his memories, you jackass. That’s what I meant. That’s not what you said. So I misspoke. Sue me. You know what? I don’t, I don’t want to hear it. And I, I am so glad that Sarah has left you and is now with Rex. An actually decent human being with a conscious.

And I am so glad, thank God, she is having his baby and not yours. Not true.

Oh, come on, Mom. Oh, don’t. Oh, come on, Mommy. Okay? You come back to town, to Salem, and remember, I begged you not to. And you don’t even have the guts to tell me you’re here. I mean, your own mom, your own mother, your own mother, who actually put her own freedom at risk to make sure that you were safe, and sound, and free, away from the authorities.

Mom, if you could listen. Please, I have good news on that last front. Brady agreed not to press charges. So, no worries. Oh, okay, no worries. No worries. You know, this is just like when you were 16 and you thought you could just flash those twin dimples and you’d be out of any kind of trouble.

So it still works, okay. But honey, where were you all this time? I went to see Lucas at Statesville. I’m glad that he, I’m glad that you did that. I’m sure he was glad to see you. But you couldn’t have been there the whole time. No, I was with Chloe.

Whoa, what’s up? Oh, hi. Uh, I take it you needed some caffeine as well before facing a mausoleum full of grieving Kiriakises. Yeah, only I wish it was a very strong cocktail. Indeed. And, uh, hey, on a happier note, I hear congratulations are in order. I wish you and Xander all the best. Yeah, I bet you do. Since my engagement keeps Xander away from you and Sarah, and the baby she’s carrying.

What isn’t true, Bonnie? Is Sarah not having Rex’s baby? Of course she is! Then what isn’t true? Well, it’s Andrew’s, uh, I don’t know, how did you put it? Um, a horror show. Wait, are you seriously defending him? He locked you and Susan Banks in Maggie’s gardening shed. But he feels really bad about it. Oh my, so he feels really bad about it and all is forgiven?

Susan Banks is dead because of him, or at least indirectly because of him. Not only that, he thought nothing involving Gwen and Leo in his miserable scheme. So we’re finally getting down to it. You see, Barney, your stepson here can’t stand the sight of me because I ruined his little extramarital crush.

Yeah. St. Sonny here was itching to jump Leo’s seemingly reformed bones until he found out the little snake is just as crooked as always. That is a damn lie. Tell it to your husband. That is unless he’s off somewhere cuckolding you yet again. Just shut up about Sonny! That’s enough! Both of you! Okay? This is the last thing Maggie needs today.

What about these? I I think they would look lovely with that outfit.

What’s going on, man?

Huh. It’s just that Victor gave me these on our 10th wedding anniversary. I mean, mind you, 10 is the traditional 10th anniversary gift, but I can still hear Victor saying, No wife of mine is going to get 10 on our anniversary.

And then he promised that he’d do his best to make it to the 30th. And that he was going to give me these in advance.

You guys, you two had something so special. Yes, we did. Oh, Sarah.

I know at some point, I’ll be grateful for all the time I had with Victor. Those sweet, sweet memories. But right now, all I feel is longing. I long to hear his voice. And, and his smile. And, you know, his arms around me.

Of course you didn’t. I, I know this is probably just in very cold comfort right now, but… Remember, that you always have me. And you have so many people around you that love you and will always, always be here for you. You are not alone. And you never will be.

I’m, uh, I’m a lot better now that I’ve been seeing your mom. That’s good. And if there’s anyone in the world that can help you process those feelings about Beau and Granddad, it’s Marlena. You’re here.

This, this, this woman will, will not take no for an answer. Let me guess, it’s Teresa? Oh, is that who you were talking to when we came in? What does she want? Nothing much. Oh wait, she wants us to get back together. I’m sorry for not recognizing you. It’s okay. I only know who you are because I’ve seen your photo online.

And various Salem publications. Ah, well I hope they’re all flattering ones. Naturally. Besides, why would you recognize me? It’s not like we grew up together. I didn’t even know that Bo Brady was my dad until high school. Ah, Chelsea, I’m really sorry about your dad. Thank you. We’re still hoping he pulls through, though.

No, we all are.

A world without Victor Kariakis. Just doesn’t seem right. No, it does not. That guy was such a huge presence on all of us. I don’t know if you knew, but I’ve, I’ve been living in London for like the last decade. And, I just feel really guilty I didn’t come home more to see him, you know? Chelsea? Is that you?

Theresa, oh my gosh, it’s so good to see you. Hi, you too. Where’s your son? I, I absolutely love whenever you post pictures of him online, he is so cute, and I cannot believe how big he’s gotten. Yeah, yeah, me neither. I didn’t take him with me, I didn’t want to take him out of school, you know, so… I’m here to represent both of us.

And to be here for Brady, of course. Sure. Chelsea, I’m so sorry about your grandfather. Thank you. Oh my god, and Uncle Bo! Is there any improvement? I’m afraid not. Oh, sorry to interrupt. I don’t believe that we’ve met. Oh my god, I’m so sorry. Uh, Teresa, this is Alex. He is my cousin on the Cariocas side. And Teresa is my cousin on the Brady side.

So we’re not related? Definitely not. Huh.

Well, it was really great to see you both. Um, uh, I’m gonna run up to the house. I want to see Maggie before the funeral starts. Right, right, and we’ll catch up after the service. Okay, sounds good.

So? So, it’s nice to finally meet you, Theresa. Oh. You’ve heard a lot about me, then, have you? Uh, oh, you’re from Brady, you mean? No, no, not much at all, actually. I’m sure that’s not true. I’m sure you’ve all heard that I’m stone cold and, and just mean. No, no, not at all, but is that true? Oh no, it is patently untrue actually.

Oh, okay. I happen to be a wonderful person. I have a very soft heart. Oh. Ah, and I’m actually hoping that the father of my child will see me that way too. Ah, so you’re hoping for like a redo with him? I was… Hoping that with Victor’s passing, we could all get closer together, you know? I mean, since Victor’s our son’s great grandfather.

Uh, and Brady and I knew we’d always have a lifelong connection, you know, because of our son, but… Uh…

Just… This really brings it home, doesn’t it? I guess that makes sense. Hm. What does Brady think about you being back? Oh, he’s… I’m good and fine with it, except he wants nothing to do with me.

So, what did you say when Teresa suggested getting back together? I said in no uncertain terms we will never, ever get back together. Really? Though you really would never consider trying again either? Oh, Belle, come on. How can you ask me that? Have you forgotten about the hell that she put me through? I learned my lesson from losing Rachel’s custody case that some women are just…

Unredeemable. Oh, come on. You’re not comparing Teresa to Kristen, are you? Maybe, maybe I am. You know, look, I know Teresa hasn’t reached the genius, treachery levels of Kristen, but give her some time.

Have to admit that you were tremendously relieved when you found out that Sandra had moved on with you. Tremendously relieved? Chloe, I am happy for you, like I said. Okay, well, in the interest of at least one of us being honest. I have to admit that I was kind of freaked out when I found out that Sarah was pregnant.

Because if that baby had turned out to be Xander’s and not yours, my engagement would have blown up before it even started.

Sonny, please, just let this go. The last thing Uncle Vic wants is for us to be at each other’s throats today. Okay? Sure about that? Uncle Vic always did love a good old family brawl. He doesn’t have a point in that, man. They left it. You know who else doesn’t like it when we squabble? I’ll tell ya. Maggie.

And the last thing she needs is for you two to come to blows and break some of her precious bric a bracs. Now I’m gonna go see Henderson and make sure everything is all set up. And the two of you? Y’all gonna behave. You got that? Right? Okay. We will. For Maggie. Yeah. For Maggie. Yeah. So

how do I look? Lovely, as always. You ready to go downstairs? In a minute.

You know, Sarah, it’s not too late. To leave for what? To tell Xander the truth.

I couldn’t have lived with myself if I didn’t say goodbye. Especially because we had so much unfinished business.

I know that your father was very hard on you. But he did love you. With all of his heart. Yeah. Well.

We should probably get over to the house. Wait, wait, wait. Before you do that, um, So you said that you were with Chloe before you came to see me. Yeah, so? Well, I’m just wondering if you went to see her because you still love her.

Okay, I admit it. You and Xander being engaged is not the worst thing to happen to my relationship with Sarah. Yeah, what do you know? A little bit of honesty for once. Okay, okay. As long as we’re both being forthcoming here, how did you feel when Philip showed up at your door, alive and well? Well, I was, I was shocked, of course.

Not only to know that he was alive, but to learn about all the horrible things that he’d done to Brady. He was not in his right mind. I know that. And I’m really glad that he got the help that he needed. And, uh, who knows? Maybe one day we can be friends again. I’m sure my brother would really like that.

Well, okay, I guess I gotta get going. And I will see you at Victor’s Memorial. I will see you there.

You see, you don’t even have to bother to answer that question, because I can see it in your eyes that you are still in love with Chloe as much as you were in high school. How I feel about Chloe doesn’t matter. She’s engaged to Xander, my idiot cousin. Hmm. Now, let’s go pay tribute to my father, okay? Okay.

That’s fine. But just know, this conversation is not ended.

I’m sure it hasn’t.

I think after everything that I’ve been through, I deserve a nice, calm relationship with a decent woman. Sorry, I don’t think those terms apply to Teresa. No offense, Sean. No, no, none taken. I mean, I know that my cousin, um… She can be a handful. Yeah, that puts it mildly. Alright, well, as entertaining as this has been, talking about your love life all morning, I think if we keep going we’re going to be late for the service, so we should get going.

You’re right. Lead the way.

Now what makes you so sure that Brady isn’t into you? I mean, other than the fact that he told me straight out and then treated me like something that he wanted to scrape off the bottom of his shoe. Hmm. Yeah. Interesting. What is? Well, the old me would tell you that he’s playing hard to get, and you need to continue to pursue him relentlessly, non stop.

Okay, and what would the new you say? The new me would tell you that no isn’t a maybe. And you probably have to take Brady at his word and back the hell off. Hmm. I think I’d like the old you better. Hmm. Man, he was a lot of fun, but boy, he got me in a hell of a lot of trouble. Oh. Well, I don’t know if you’ve heard about me, Alex Kiriakis, but I happen to like all sorts of trouble.

Mom, I know that you mean well. But your emotions are all over the place right now, and… Sarah, my emotions do not invalidate what I know to be true. That, that not to tell Xander that he’s the father, it’s, it’s, it’s not fair, and it’s, it’s not right. Shh, Please. You’re carrying his baby. Yeah, I know, and we have been over this, Mom, so you have to trust me.

Okay? No good will come of this particular truth getting out. And what truth would that be? Oh, Josie! Sorry, I withdrew all the questions. I was just being my nosy self. You made it! Of course I did. Oh, my. I had to. For Grandpa and for you. Oh. Thank you, Chelsea. Oh, Sarah, this is Chelsea. Hi. Uh, another of Beau’s beautiful daughters.

Yes. I, I’ve heard so much about you, Chelsea, and it’s so good to finally meet you. I’m, I’m Maggie’s daughter. I’ve heard a lot about you, too. Oh, Chelsea, I wish your dad and Hope could be here, but, of course, I understand why they can’t be. But your sister, Sierra, is in a beautiful bouquet. Mm hmm. She loved Grandpa so much.

We all did. Grandpa will always have a special place in my heart, as you had in his.

Yeah, the service is starting soon. We should probably get going. I’ll be down in just

a minute. I’ll see you down there.

Hmm.

Ah. Ah.

Hmm.

Mhm.

Yeah. Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm.

Mhm. Oh,

my goodness. Talk about a sight for sore eyes. I want one

of those. One for Ciara couldn’t be here. Yeah, I know, but her doctor said that it wasn’t good for her to fly so late in her pregnancy. How are you and Max doing being new parents? Oh, you know, aside from the sleep deprivation, it’s just been great. Isaac is a joy. I mean, we do wish we lived closer so we could see everybody more often.

We wish that too. Oh, I need to go hug my grandma Kate. Excuse me.

Okay. Oh, Jackson. Hi. So glad you could make it. Oh, I love you. So good to see you.

It looks like everyone’s here, so we should get started. As most of you already know, my uncle wanted only a small ceremony to be interred in the family mausoleum next to his beloved daughter, Isabella Toscano Black. He also wanted this to be informal, so if anyone would like to offer a remembrance, you’re welcome to do so at this time.

Jossie, I think you wanted

to say about a guy like Victor Kariakis? He was larger than life. My dad, Beau Brady, um, he didn’t find out that Victor was his biological father until he was a grown up. And to say that he struggled with his dual identity as a Kariakis and a Brady, you know. That would be an understatement.

But no matter the strain that my dad had with his dad, I always felt that Victor really loved me. And my siblings. And all our kids. So if there’s one thing that I will remember about my grandfather, it was how loved I always felt whenever I was with him. Now, um, the way Victor Kiriakis pitted his sons and, um, grandsons and nephews against each other, well, he could have, uh, taught King Lear and Zeus a thing about family infighting.

Um, but there was another side to Victor Kiriakis. It’s much more, um, caring, loving side. Now, my father tells me we really didn’t get to see this side a lot. Until, uh, Victor found out he had a daughter.

Isabella. She was the first to sort of chip away at his ice encased heart.

But he certainly wasn’t the last.

That distinction goes to… Maggie. A kind, sweet woman, with a beautiful soul, who somehow, convinced the, uh, Powerful Victor Kiriakis to make his family a priority and not a power play.

Maggie, he was so lucky to have you. And this whole, whole family is better because of you, too. I love you.

Among the images that will forever stay in my mind when I think of my uncle, Is the look on his face when he would, very imperiously, tell me how to live my life. Ha ha ha ha. Who I should love, who I shouldn’t. He had a very unique style of meddling. But I always knew, as much as I hated it, I always knew that me.

So deeply,

that he would lay down his life for me and for the people that he loved.

And I for one, I’m gonna miss that meddling. I’m gonna miss my dear Uncle Vic, now and forever.

I may just be the, uh… Bastard Kyriakos, but Victor and I, well, I always felt that we were cut from similar cloth. I understood what drove the man and why he was so often driven in ways that proved to be calamitous. But I think all of us gathered here today, we, we also know that… Victor loved ferociously, and he fought very hard to make sure Maggie and, and his children had the best lives possible.

So, I intend to emulate my Uncle Vic and do the same. If God ever blesses me with children.

I’m

the only one of Victor’s children who had the distinction and sometimes the burden of being raised by the man. So, when I look back, I remember how proud he was when I did something that pleased him. Which wasn’t often enough. I also remember his looks of disappointment when I let him down. Which was way too often.

Oh, Dad. Wherever

you are, I hope you can see that I’m still trying.

Still striving to be the man worthy of your love

and respect.

My, uh, my grandfather was our patriarch.

He was our bright shining sun,

although many of us were a bit like

we would fly a little too close and then get burned.

But he always taught us something. There’s always a lesson in there. I will miss that about him.

So, uh, rest now, my grandfather.

Until we fly together again.

You don’t want to say anything? No, no, there’s no point.

I’d like to close the service by reading a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, one of Uncle Victor’s favorites. Sunset, an evening star, and one clear call for me. And may there be no moaning of the bar when I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep, Turns again home.

There are very few things in this life that are irreplaceable. You know I’ve always had a soft spot when it comes to my family. But softness doesn’t always equate with weakness. When it comes to business, I’m neither. It’s good in you too. I’ve seen it.

No, I try not to let that show too often.

Granddad, if you’ve taught me anything, Nothing’s impossible. You know, I missed you back in Phoenix. Hello. It’s like missing Poison Ivy. It’s remarkable, isn’t it? I’m sure you’ll recall that passion was an integral part of our relationship. Thank you. Confirming your love for me. By the power vested in me, I hereby pronounce you husband and wife.

Oh. Marrying

you was the best thing that ever happened to

me. And I think this would be a very good time for you to… Echo the sentiment. It would only go to your head, which is already swollen enough.

Uh, I just got a text. The food’s ready. I just boxed

it up, so. it was. You didn’t follow me here, did you? No. Just, Bonnie told me you and your cousin were here to pick up some food. I thought I could help, and, plus, I’m starving. Well, there’s always the Brady Pub, Teresa. Whoa, Brady. Come on. That’s the way to treat your kid’s mom. Alex, stay out of it, please. Well…

It’s nice to know someone in this family still has manners. You know, actually, I’d love to get to know you better, Alex. Maybe we could have dinner this weekend. Oh, this weekend? Yeah, I thought you were going back to California this weekend. No, no, actually, I’m thinking about sticking around for a little while.

I’m gonna go get that dinner. Okay.

Oh, gosh, I can’t believe you’re leaving already. I know. I really wish I could stay. Yeah. You know your brother really misses you. We talk about coming out to London all the time, and of course we want to see baby Isaac so bad. You guys should. That would be so great. Max and I would love that. Oh. Speaking of my brother, where is he?

Oh, he just went in to pack you a lunch. I guess. Yeah, he has been in there a little while. I wonder what’s keeping him.

Ready to go, sweetheart? I’m sure Maggie’s wondering where you are.

Hey Xander, uh, we should probably get going. Yeah, right. Of course. Sarah, what’s wrong? Oh, no. Sarah, what is it? My water just broke.

I can’t tell you all how much it means to me to have you all here with me. We’ll be here for you for as long as you need, Maggie. Of course we will. And Maggie, even though Victor had almost as many wives as Henry VIII, I do believe that you brought out the best in him. In fact, of all of the women in his life, you were the perfect match for Victor.

That is most assuredly a matter of opinion. Vivan Alamein.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Are you okay?

I am going to open a bottle of something to celebrate. Should we do wine or champagne? Uh, either is fine, but can you remind me again what we’re celebrating? Hello. Did we not just kill it at the bowling alley? You killed it at the bowling alley. I managed to bounce the ball into the lane next to it. Yeah, and still knock down three pins.

That’s not easy to do. Well, considering the fact that I haven’t bowled since grade school, I mean, I guess I did okay. How’s this? Uh, perfect.

Are you sure this is okay? I mean, like, okay with your mom? And I’m just here. Oh, don’t worry about Mama. She is out to dinner with Abe. They’re getting to know each other again from scratch. So, you and I, we have the place all to ourselves. Well, you

look comfortable. Ah, getting there. I thought you were happy to be back. What? I am. It’s just been a bit of a whirlwind, you know? Rawlings fires me, and then he gets fired, and then, uh, boom. Here I am. I hear ya. It’s a lot. Yeah. What about you? You seem a little down. Well, it’s just that earlier, you told Paulina that she should have given me the commissioner job.

And I turned it down. Right. Well, I’m starting to think that maybe that was a mistake. Hey,

Tripp. Hey, Caitlin. Uh, what’s the latest on our John Doe? Uh, well, we’re still trying to determine why he lost his memory. And, uh, Black Patch is trying to figure out his identity so they can reunite him with his son. Oh, wow. I know from personal experience that, uh, Dad is excellent at accomplishing that particular mission.

No, thank goodness for that, right? Give me a sign off on your charts. Ah, yes, please. Thank you. Uh, and I was hoping, um, if it’s not too much trouble, if you could maybe help me out with one more thing? Of course. You know I’d always do anything to help you. Okay, well I’m glad, because this is kind of an emergency.

Dammit, what good is hiring an assassin if they won’t return your texts?

Dammit, I want to know that it’s done. Then what’s done? Are you

sure about hiring me for this job? Of course I’m sure. I’ve commissioned your services in the past and I’ve always been happy with your work. And I appreciate the business. I just didn’t think you did this sort of thing anymore. As a rule, I don’t. But, this is different. It’s… personal. I understand. You don’t need to worry.

I’ll take care of the Vitali woman and it’ll never come back to you. This is where it ends.

You bitch!

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Um. A mistake? Like a mistake as in you actually do want to be commissioner? Well, I’m definitely qualified. You said so yourself. You told Paulina that she wouldn’t find a better candidate. I mean, don’t, don’t get me wrong. Your career matters to me. You matter to me. Very much. But it’s just that, you know, you told me that This position and job is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I get it. I do. Well, if that’s true, then I think you’re sitting in my chair.

Okay, um, well then, um. Dude, I’m joking. I’m messing with you. You what? I’m messing with you. Oh my god, you… Wow. Okay. Yeah, and so, with my mom needing to see me and our surprise visit from a very drunk Leo Stark, Wendy and I… Ah, ah, ah. Say no more. Yeah. Why don’t you just tell me how I can help? Well, we’re seeing each other again tonight.

And we’re trying to think ahead, so nothing goes wrong this time. I completely understand. Well, um, the answer is yes. Um, I’ll call your father and, um, you can have our place tonight.

Johnny, I didn’t know you were home. Obviously. Seems like I caught you in the middle of a pretty heated text exchange with someone. What’d they do to make you so angry? I’m not angry. I’m a bit frustrated, perhaps. Hmm. About what? I had to take my car in for repairs. My antique sports car. Gabby sideswiped it in the driveway the other day.

Not your most adored and prized possession. No wonder you’re so upset. It’s bad enough that I have to watch that gold digging tramp parade around this house as if it were her own, but to destroy my property and not have the decency to apologize for it is Okay, Dad. You’re pissed. I get it. But if I may shed a little perspective, not like it’s a matter of life and death.

Hmm. She’s still breathing. Freeze! Drop the gun! Adi, back up an ambulance right away. We have a gun in room 207. You don’t understand. I understand that you just shot this woman. I didn’t have a choice. She attacked me. She was about to kill both of us. Tell him, Harris. Drop the weapon. Now!

Ava? Just do it. Drop the gun

Well, you know what I will go call your dad right now and tell him that we are vacating our place tonight Thank you so much for the offer Kayla, but Wendy and I actually have a reservation at the Salem Inn. Oh You don’t need our place. Mm hmm Well, then how can I help you? Well, I have done everything I can think of to make sure there are no interruptions tonight except for This.

Will you take it? Just for tonight? Of course. Yeah. I, I, I know I could just turn it off, but if it’s there, I’ll be tempted to check it. And, uh, if there’s an actual emergency, you can call our room number, okay? It’s number 304. Okay. Don’t worry. I’m happy to do it. Thank you. In case of emergency. I call 304. I got it.

I got it. Listen, you just focus on having a good time tonight. Will do. Thank you.

Yeah.

Chapter 8, Labor and Delivery. I’m assuming this is Nicole’s? She just went up to bed, must have forgotten it. Ah. How’s she feeling? Fine, she’s doing well. Good. How are you feeling? With my new baby brother or sister on the way. I’m thrilled. I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting to become a father again, but I couldn’t be happier.

That must be, uh, incredible feeling. Not one that I’m ready for, obviously, but… But when you were married, you must have thought about parenthood, right? Perhaps you’re thinking about it again. What it might be like someday with Chanel. You’ve been talking to Nicole. Of course I have. She’s my fiancé. And your once and future stepmother.

We just want what’s best for you, son. So tell me, did you take her advice and tell Chanel how you feel? I was about to. Uh, then we got interrupted. And in hindsight, I’m glad we did. Why’s that? Because the person who interrupted us was Talia Hunter, who was meeting Chanel for a date of the romantic variety.

Talia Hunter? Isn’t she the one who poisoned those biscuits and got Chanel’s bakery shut down? Yeah. Why on earth would you want to get involved with her? I don’t know. Is it serious? Does it matter? There’s obviously something going on between the two of them, so I just, you know, I decided to… keep my mouth shut.

Back off. Well, that was stupid.

I still can’t believe how you nailed that split. Like those back corner pins, like how did you even do that? I don’t know. I guess I’m just that good. Oh, whatever.

I had a really good time tonight. Me too.

Thank you, Chanel. For what? For not hating me. I mean, for what I did, most people would never speak to me again. So, I know how big of a deal this is. And I just want to let you know how much it means to me that you gave me a second chance. I’m glad I did. So, how do you think it’s going so far? Pretty well.

Any ideas of how it could be better? I

have a one.

Oh, we’re really taking full advantage of that amended policy, aren’t we? Well, not full advantage.

What is it? You should be in that chair.

Oh, it is a comfortable chair. No, I’m serious. I am serious. Paulina offered you the job and… If you want it, take it. I don’t. Okay, you are an outstanding cop. And Mayor Price gave you your job back that you never should have left in the first place for completely bogus reasons. And now you can keep doing what you love, I can keep doing what I love.

And we can keep doing this.

As much as I enjoy sharing this moment with you. What do you say that we go to your house and share your bed? I would say a very enthusiastic. Yes.

Commissioner Hernandez.

I’m on my way. What is it? There’s been a shooting in Bayview. Let’s go. Yeah.

Ava. Ava, just put, just put the gun down. I can’t. I can’t let him take me in. I just shot a woman. Yeah, in self defense. Yeah. And after everything I’ve done, they’re not gonna believe that. Last chance, lady. Drop the weapon, or I’ll make you drop it. Oh, I would think twice about that if I were you. No, Ava. Ava, what are you doing?

I told you, I’m not going to prison. So if I need to shoot this guy to get out of here, then that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.

Oh, sorry, uh, this is Dr. Johnson. Do you mind? No, no, go for it. Hi, Dr. Johnson. Hi, Talia. Um, listen, I know it’s late, but I was wondering if you’d come by the hospital. The hospital? No, no need to worry, but, um, I have some news that I think I should deliver in person. Uh, yeah, sure, I’ll be right there.

Is everything okay? She wants to meet with me. I’m guessing it’s about the job. Well, if the chief of staff is asking you to come in, it’s probably good news. I doubt it. More likely she doesn’t want to disappoint me over the phone. Let’s just face it, the board would be insane if they hired me. Oh, come on, don’t say that.

It would be a PR nightmare for them. You think they would want headlines saying they brought on the Biscuit Bandit? I think they want a great doctor. Which is what you are. Top of your medical class? Like, come on! Hey, don’t be so pessimistic, okay? I believe in you, Toya. Believe in yourself. Okay, if you say so.

I’ll try. Thank you for the pep talk. Mm hmm. And you let me know how it goes.

Did you just call me stupid? Uh, uh, uh, I called your decision about Chanel stupid. So let me get this straight. You’re encouraging me to become the odd man out in yet another love triangle? I’m encouraging you to go after the woman you love, son. Look, Dad, I am not going to get between her and tell you that would be stupid, not to mention disrespectful.

Sander, you have no obligation to respect a relationship that barely exists, especially since Chanel would be better off with you. Wait, wait, back up. Since when are you team Chanel? Since she turned her life around. She worked hard, she started a business, and it became a huge success. So you’re admitting you were wrong about her?

I am. And besides, no matter what flaws I thought Chanel had… They pale in comparison to Ava Vitaris.

Ava? Ava, I need you to calm down. Okay? You didn’t do anything wrong. When the cops get here, we’ll explain what happened. Cops? Yes, you heard him call for backup. So Rafe’s coming? Great. He hates me. There’s no way he’s gonna listen to me. He’ll listen to me. But when he shows up, you don’t want him to see you waving that gun around?

I have to do this. I have to. There’s no other choice. Ava, there is. I promise. Come on, just, if you don’t want to put the gun down, just give it to me.

Ava, nobody else needs to get hurt. Please, just hand me the gun.

Thank you. Don’t

move! Stay right there. We’re leaving.

Wow, you look beautiful. Oh. You clean up pretty nicely yourself. How long have you been here? A few hours. I wanted to talk to the manager to make sure everything goes smoothly. I did the same thing. And he confirmed that no one else is registered to this room. Oh, so no drunken gossip columnists showing up at our door?

And we don’t have to worry about anybody texting or calling us either. Well, I have my phone turned off. I gave mine to Kayla. So she’s only gonna call this room unless there’s an actual emergency. So, unless a plane crashes into the hospital or… Yeah.

I still feel like we’re forgetting something. Don’t worry at all, okay? We’ve got it all covered. Tonight, you and I will finally be together. With no interruptions.

Room service.

Sorry they took so long. We, uh, thought you were someone else. Just your steak and champagne. I figured we’d be hungry. After the day we had. Good thinking. Um, please make sure we’re not disturbed. Of course. Thank you, sir. Thank you. Oh! This is what I forgot.

All set. Then I will pop the champagne.

I don’t need the champagne.

All I need is

you. Did you seriously just compare Chanel to Ava Vitale? Dad, Chanel was my wife. Ava was just a blip on the radar. Thank God for that. Dad, stop. What? I don’t want to sit here and listen to you trash Ava. She killed your grandmother.

She’s mentally ill. Okay, she doesn’t need to be punished. She needs help.

For that, my dear boy, we’ll have to agree to disagree. Okay, fine. Can we just, please, talk about something else now? Just, just one more thing. Look, if it’s about Ava… No, it’s about Chanel. Look. Dad. I don’t need you to tell me what to do, okay? I got this. I’m not going to. All I’ll say is, if it were me, I would not pass up the chance for happiness with the woman I love out of some misguided sense of decorum.

I’d be proactive. Tell her how I feel.

Ah, Talia, hi! Thanks for coming. Yeah, of course. Well, like I said on the phone, um, I have some news that I really felt like I wanted to tell you in person. I assume it’s about the job. It is. The fact that you even considered hiring me in the first place, Dr. Johnson, is seriously unbelievably kind. Truly, I was blown away.

But then again, I knew the board would never go for it. Well, I spoke to Seth Burns and he basically said the same thing. That given your excellent qualifications, well, even with that, he didn’t think the board would agree to it. But they agreed to hire you on a provisional basis. Wait, really? Yeah, you can start tomorrow.

Oh my god, this is incredible! Dr. Johnson, thank you so much. I assure you, and I promise you, I won’t let you down.

Is it just the one victim? As far as I know. The ambulance should have been here by now. I’ll call them again. We gotta get her to the hospital as soon as possible. What happened? One of our patients shot her. What patient? Ava Vitale.

Okay. Hey, are you alright? Yeah, I’m fine. I just, I don’t know a damn clue what the hell’s going on. Me neither. Why do you think that woman came after you? I don’t know. Just like I don’t know if she’s got friends back at Bayview who are still coming after me. I know. I was worried about that too. That’s why I got you out of there.

Thank you. I know you can thank me once I know you’re safe because if that woman does have an accomplice… They could be anywhere. So we gotta go. Go, go, where are we going? Where are we gonna go, huh? I am not going to the police. Okay. I got another idea. Let’s go.

Kayla’s with the victim now. Yeah, that’s right. I need to put an APB out on Ava Vitale and Harris Michaels. They escaped Bayview approximately 30 minutes ago. Consider them armed and dangerous officers. Should proceed with extreme caution. I want updates every hour. Unless you hear something, I want you to call me.

Thanks. Hey. Hey, how is she? Well, not good. The trauma team is trying to stabilize her to get her surgery. Ugh. You think she’ll make it? Well, it’s too soon to tell. Ava Vitale did this? Well, we’re not sure. We do know that she just escaped Bayview with Harris Michaels. I’d like to question the victim, but I’m guessing that’s off the table for now.

Right. Yeah, they need to get her to surgery right away. But I’ll keep you posted. Thank you. Thanks.

Nice job swiping that key from the guy at the front desk. Well, I didn’t need my SEAL training for that. The clerk was about 150 years old. Yeah. So what are we doing here? We are establishing a base of operations. Oh. So that’s what this is. That’s what this is. We need to regroup before we make any more moves.

First order of business is figure out who that woman was. And why she came after you. Yeah, well, like I said, I got no clue. I got no idea who that woman was. Well, she obviously knew who you were because she was trying to kill you. So can you think of anybody? With a grudge? From, from your past? The past?

Like from, from the Mafia? This wasn’t a Mafia hit. But this was a hit. Yeah, it was. And I know exactly who put it out.

Johnny. Hey, yeah, uh, I’m sorry that I just dropped by like this. I hope it’s not a bad time. No! Oh. What’s going on? Uh, look, I’m not really sure how to say this, so I’m just gonna say it, okay? Okay. I’ve been wanting to tell you this for a while. I actually even tried a couple of times, uh, but just the timing was…

Off. Um, and now you’re with Talia, and the last thing I wanna do is get in the middle of that, but… I can’t keep quiet anymore. Not about this. I I just, I I had to come here and tell you how I feel.

Chanel, I’m still in love with you.

mm.

Life.

Yoo.

Oh.

Waves hustle, get so crazy I wanna go back where memories take me And you, oh you, feel like home

Cause

you, you feel like home Yeah, you, you feel like You feel

like home

How’s the victim? She’s still in surgery, but get this. You know how she was wearing scrubs? Yeah, the guard thought that she was a nurse. She’s not. I spoke to an administrator at Bayview. She doesn’t work there. Never has. Hmm. Here’s her phone. Looks like a burner. Oh, there’s no passcode. There’s a ton of text messages.

It’s all from one number. Let me guess, it’s blocked? And listen to this. Why haven’t I heard back from you? Is Ava out of the picture yet?

Who the hell sent this?

Ciao, Ava.

God, it is so obvious. Has to be. You thought of somebody? How about the guy we were just talking about, who’s convinced that I killed his mother and wants me dead? You mean… Yeah. It’s EJ frickin DiMera.

Well, let me know when she gets to recovery, alright? The police commissioner is here and he wants to question her. Yes, I told him he needs to be patient. Uh, okay. Thanks a lot.

Ava, how are you involved with all this? We

can wait.

So, that happened. With no interruptions. I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to think we might never… Me too.

But it was so worth

the wait. Johnny, I, I, I don’t know what to say. Sorry, uh, Mama must have forgot her keys. Talia. I just had to come back. Is everything okay? What’s better than okay? You were right the whole time. Dr. Johnson was calling with good news. I got the job! Oh my god, amazing! I know, I’m so excited.

Um, I didn’t know you had company.

What’s going on? Uh, nothing, nothing. I was just, uh, leaving. You don’t have to leave on my account. I’m not. I just, I have actually some place that I need to be. So, um… Good night, Chanel. And congratulations to you.

Are you okay? Uh, yeah, yeah. I’m fine.

Update written by Joseph

Chanel is at home with Talia and asks if she wants wine or champagne to celebrate. Talia says either is fine but asks what they are celebrating. Chanel points out that they just killed it at the bowling alley. Talia jokes that it was all Chanel. Talia asks if she’s sure this is okay with Paulina. Chanel tells her not to worry as Paulina is out to dinner with Abe since they are getting to know each other again from scratch. Chanel tells Talia that they have the place all to themselves.

Jada joins Rafe in his office and comments on him looking comfortable at his desk. Rafe says he’s getting there. Jada thought he was happy to be back. Rafe assures that he is but notes that it’s just been a whirlwind since Rawlings fired him and then Rawlings got fired and now he’s back. Jada acknowledges that it’s a lot. Rafe notes that she seems a little down. Jada brings up that Rafe told Paulina that she should’ve given her the commissioner job and she turned it down, but she’s starting to think maybe that was a mistake.

At the hospital, Kayla runs in to Tripp, who asks about the John Doe. Kayla explains that John and Steve are trying to figure out his identity to reunite him with his son. Tripp mentions knowing from experience that Steve is excellent at that. Kayla says she will sign off on Tripp’s charts. Tripp asks Kayla for help on one more thing that’s kind of an emergency.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ complains about hiring an assassin that won’t return his texts. He sends a text to the woman he hired, Joyce, asking why he hasn’t heard back from her and if Ava is out of the picture yet. EJ shouts that he wants to know that it’s done. Johnny then walks in and asks what he’s talking about. EJ thinks back to hiring Joyce.

Joyce declares this is where it ends but Harris grabs her, causing her to drop the gun. As they struggle with one another, Ava picks up the gun and pulls the trigger, shooting Joyce. Joyce calls Ava a bitch and then falls onto the hospital bed.

Rafe questions Jada if she’s saying she actually does want to be commissioner. Jada points out that she’s definitely qualified as Rafe said himself. Jada assures that Rafe and his career matter to her very much, but he told her the position and job is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Rafe says he gets it. Jada says if that’s true, she thinks he’s sitting in her chair. Rafe is confused until Jada reveals that she was just messing with him.

Tripp tells Kayla that about he and Wendy being interrupted twice but they are seeing each other again tonight, so he’s trying to think ahead so nothing goes wrong this time. Kayla understands and tells Tripp that they can have their place tonight.

EJ tells Johnny that he didn’t know he was home. Johnny feels he caught him in the middle of a pretty heated text conversation and asks what got him so angry. EJ claims he was just frustrated because he had to take his sports car to the shop after Gabi side swiped it. Johnny mocks that being his most prized possession. EJ says it’s bad enough that he has to watch Gabi parade around the house like it’s her own. Johnny gets that EJ is pissed but says it’s not like it’s a matter of life and death…

Harris notes that Joyce is still breathing. A security officer then bursts in with his gun and orders Ava to drop the weapon as he calls for backup, saying they have a patient with a gun. Ava says he doesn’t understand. He says he understands she just shot this woman. Ava responds that she didn’t have a choice as she attacked her and was going to kill both of them. The officer demands she drop the gun. Harris tells Ava to just do it and drop the gun.

Kayla tells Tripp that she will call Steve now to let him know to vacate the place tonight. Tripp thanks her for the offer but informs her that he and Wendy already have a reservation at the Salem Inn. Kayla asks how she can help then. Tripp explains that he’s done everything he can think of to make sure there are no interruptions, so he asks Kayla to take his phone for the night. Tripp knows he could just turn it off but if it’s there, he could be tempted. Tripp adds that if there’s an actual emergency, she can call their room #304. Kayla tells Tripp to just focus on having a good time tonight as he then exits the hospital.

EJ and Johnny head in to the living room. EJ keeps checking his phone while Johnny finds a book of Nicole’s on the couch, open to a chapter on labor and delivery. EJ guesses Nicole forgot it when she just went up to bed. Johnny asks how she’s feeling. EJ says she’s fine and doing well. Johnny asks how EJ is feeling with his new baby brother or sister on the way. EJ says he’s thrilled. EJ admits he wasn’t expecting to become a father again but he couldn’t be happier. Johnny says it must be an incredible feeling, though not one he’s ready for. EJ asks if Johnny thought about parenthood while married or if he’s thinking of what it might be like with Chanel. Johnny guesses he’s been talking to Nicole. EJ says they just want what’s best for him. EJ asks if he took Nicole’s advice and told Chanel how he feels. Johnny confirms that he was about to, but they got interrupted and in hindsight, he’s glad they did which EJ questions. Johnny informs him that the person who interrupted them was Talia Hunter, who was meeting Chanel for a date. EJ brings up Talia poisoning the biscuits and getting Chanel’s bakery shut down, so he questions why Chanel would want to get involved with her. EJ asks if it’s serious. Johnny asks if it matters since there’s obviously something going on between them, so he decided to keep his mouth shut and back off. EJ calls that stupid.

Talia praises Chanel’s bowling skills. Talia tells her that she had a really good time tonight. Chanel says she did too. Talia thanks her for not hating her as most people would not speak to her again after what she did, so she knows how big of a deal this is. Talia wants to let her know how much it means to her that she gave her a second chance. Chanel says she’s glad she did. Talia asks how she thinks it’s going so far. Chanel says pretty well. Talia asks if she has any ideas of how it could be better. Chanel says she has one and kisses Talia.

Jada and Rafe kiss in Rafe’s office. Rafe jokes about taking full advantage of the amended policy. They continue kissing until Rafe stops and agrees that Jada should be police commissioner since Paulina offered her the job, so if she wants it, she can take it. Jada assures that she doesn’t as Rafe is an outstanding cop and Paulina gave him his job back, so they can each keep doing what they love and they can keep doing this as they continue kissing. Jada says as much as she enjoys sharing this moment, she suggests going to Rafe’s house and sharing his bed. Rafe agrees to that but then gets a call and says he’s on his way. Rafe informs Jada that there’s been a shooting at Bayview so they head out together.

Harris pleads with Ava to put the gun down, but Ava says she can’t let the guard take her in after she just shot a woman. Harris points out that it was self defense. Ava feels they won’t believe her. The guard warns Ava that it’s her last chance to drop the weapon before he makes her drop it. Ava warns him to think twice about that. Harris questions what she is doing. Ava repeats that she’s not going to prison, so if she has to shoot this guy to get out of here, then that’s exactly what she’s going to do.

Chanel and Talia kiss until Talia gets a call from Kayla. Kayla says she knows it’s late but wondered if she could come by the hospital because she has some news to deliver in person. Talia agrees to be right there and hangs up. Chanel asks if everything is okay. Talia tells Chanel that Kayla wants to meet with her, so she’s guessing it’s about the job. Chanel says if the chief of staff is asking her to come in, it’s probably good news. Talia doubts it and worries that Kayla just doesn’t want to disappoint her over the phone. Talia feels it would be a PR nightmare for the board if they hired the “biscuit bandit”. Chanel thinks they want a great doctor which Talia is. Chanel encourages Talia and says she believes in her. Talia thanks her as Chanel tells her to let her know how it goes. Talia then exits.

Johnny questions if EJ called him stupid. EJ clarifies that he called his decision about Chanel stupid. Johnny asks if EJ is encouraging him to become the odd man out in yet another love triangle. EJ says he’s encouraging him to go after the woman he loves. Johnny responds that he’s not going to get in between Chanel and Talia because that would be stupid and disrespectful. EJ argues that relationship barely exists and that Chanel would be better off with Johnny. Johnny questions when EJ became team Chanel. EJ acknowledges that Chanel turned her life around, started a business and became a huge success, so he admits that he was wrong about her. EJ adds that no matter what flaws he thought Chanel had, they pale in comparison to Ava Vitali.

Harris tries to calm Ava down, pointing out that she did nothing wrong and they will explain what happened to the cops. Ava worries that Rafe hates her, so there’s no way he will listen to her. Harris insists that Rafe will listen to him, but she won’t want Rafe to see her waving the gun around. Ava argues that she has to do this as there’s no other choice. Harris promises there is and asks her to just give him the gun. Harris adds that nobody else needs to get hurt and asks her for the gun. Ava then slowly hands it over to Harris. Harris thanks her and then turns the gun back on the security guard, warning him not to move and to stay right there because they are leaving. Harris and Ava then escape together.

Tripp and Wendy meet at their room in the Salem Inn. Wendy says she talked to the manager to make sure everything goes smoothly. Tripp says he did the same and the manager confirmed no one else has access to the room. Wendy mentions turning her phone off while Tripp tells her that he gave his to Kayla. Wendy still feels like they are forgetting something. Tripp tells her not to worry as they got it all covered and tonight they will finally be together with no interruptions. They are then interrupted by a knock at the door from room service who brings in steak and champagne. Wendy says she figured they would be hungry. Tripp asks the worker to make sure they are not disturbed as he exits. Wendy puts the do not disturb sign on the door. Tripp offers to pop the champagne but Wendy says all she needs is him as they kiss.

Johnny questions EJ comparing Chanel to Ava Vitali, arguing that Chanel was his wife while Ava was just a blip on the radar. Johnny adds that he doesn’t want to sit here and listen to him trash Ava. EJ argues that Ava killed Johnny’s grandmother. Johnny acknowledges that Ava is mentally ill and says she doesn’t need to be punished, she needs help. EJ decides they will have to agree to disagree. Johnny asks if they can talk about something else. EJ says he has one more thing about Chanel. Johnny doesn’t need him to tell him what to do and says he’s got this. EJ states that if it were him, he would not pass up the chance to be with the woman he loves out of some misguided sense of decorum, he would be proactive and tell her how he feels.

Talia goes to the hospital to see Kayla, who thanks her for coming. Kayla informs Talia that she has some news to tell her in person. Talia assumes it’s about the job which Kayla confirms. Talia says the fact that she’d even considering hiring her was truly kind, but she knew the board would never go for it. Kayla informs her that spoke to Seth Burns, who basically said the same thing, but given her excellent qualifications, they agreed to hire her on a provisional basis and she can start tomorrow. Talia calls this incredible and excitedly thanks her, promising that she won’t let her down.

Rafe and Jada arrive at Bayview where the security guard and a nurse are checking on Joyce. Jada calls the ambulance again while Rafe asks what happened. The guard informs him that Ava Vitali shot her.

Ava and Harris escape Bayview. They talk about having no idea what’s going on or why Joyce attacked them. Harris says he got her out of there because if that woman has an accomplice, they could be anywhere. Ava asks where they are going since she’s not going to the police. Harris decides he has another idea.

Rafe and Jada go to the hospital. Jada mentions Kayla being with the victim now. Rafe calls in an APB on Ava and Harris, noting that they escaped Bayview about 30 minutes ago. Rafe adds to consider them armed and dangerous so they are to proceed with extreme caution. Rafe wants updates every hour. Kayla comes over and says the victim is not good, but the trauma team is trying to stabilize her for surgery. Jada asks if she’s going to make it. Kayla says it’s too soon to tell and asks if Ava really did this. Rafe says they don’t know for sure but they do know that Ava escaped Bayview with Harris Michaels. Rafe would like to question the victim but guesses that’s off the table for now. Kayla confirms they need to get her in to surgery right away, but says she will keep them posted.

Harris and Ava go to a motel room. Harris says this will be their base of operations as they need to regroup before making their next move. Harris says they first have to figure out who that woman was and why she came after her. Ava says she has no clue who it was. Harris points out that she obviously knew who Ava was because she was trying to kill her. Harris asks if she could think of anyone with a grudge from her past. Ava insists this wasn’t a mafia hit. Harris points out that it was a hit. Ava responds that she knows exactly who put it out.

Johnny goes to see Chanel and apologizes for just dropping by as he hopes it’s not a bad time. Chanel says it’s not and asks what’s going on. Johnny says he’s just going to say it. Johnny tells Chanel that he’s been wanting to tell her this for awhile and he tried a couple times, but the timing was off and now she’s with Talia so the last thing he wants to do is get in the middle of that, but he can’t keep quiet about this anymore. Johnny declares he had to come tell her how he feels. Johnny then tells Chanel that he’s still in love with her.

Tripp and Wendy kiss and begin to undress as they move on to the bed.

Rafe tells Jada that he found out the victim was not a nurse and didn’t work at Bayview. Jada brings up the phone that they found on her and that it’s a burner phone with no passcode. Jada sees there’s a ton of text messages all from one number. Rafe guesses it’s blocked. Jada reads the text message asking why they haven’t heard back from her and if Ava was out of the picture yet. Rafe wonders who the hell sent the text.

EJ pours a drink at home and then gets a breaking news alert on his phone about a shooting at Bayview, which he assumes means Ava was shot.

Ava tells Harris that it’s so obvious and it has to be EJ DiMera.

Kayla finishes a call about Rafe wanting to question the patient. Kayla wonders how Ava is involved with all of this. Kayla then looks at a photo of Tripp and Wendy on her phone, but decides it can wait.

Tripp and Wendy lay in bed together after having sex for the first time. They talk about how it happened with no interruptions. Wendy tells Tripp it was so worth the wait as they kiss.

Chanel doesn’t know what to say to Johnny. Talia then comes back and tells Chanel that she had to come back. Chanel asks if everything is okay. Talia says it’s better than okay and informs Chanel that she got the job. They hug as Chanel calls it amazing. Talia then sees Johnny inside and says she didn’t know she had company. Talia asks what’s going on. Johnny claims it’s nothing and he was just leaving. Talia says he doesn’t have to leave on her account. Johnny says he’s not and that he has somewhere to be. Johnny tells Chanel good night and congratulates Talia as he then exits. Talia asks if Chanel is okay. Chanel claims that she’s fine.

Update written by Joseph

Rex joins Sarah in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and asks how she’s feeling. Sarah says she’s fine and no more Braxton-Hicks so it looks like the baby will stay in the oven a little longer before making their grand entrance in to the world. Rex is happy to hear that because he’s been thinking they should be married before the baby is born.

Xander comes across Theresa outside the Brady Pub and says he never thought he’d see her sorry ass in Salem again and questions what the hell she’s doing here.

Harris questions Ava telling him that Susan Banks is alive. Ava assures that she is, which means she is not responsible for the death of EJ DiMera’s mother.

EJ walks through the park and calls someone to meet him in the park right now. EJ declares that Ava Vitali killed his mother and before this day is done, he wants Ava dead too.

At the hospital, Eric informs Sloan that she is being discharged and asks if she’s ready go home. Sloan responds that there is something she needs to tell him. Eric asks what it is. Sloan says it’s about the baby. Sloan cries that she’s so sorry that she lost their child. Eric questions why she’s sorry when it wasn’t her fault. Sloan knows how much he wanted to be a father. Sloan says when she came in, they had so much to look forward to in starting a family together and being parents together. Eric assures that they still have each other and a lot of good things to look forward to. Eric is sure she’s pretty desperate for non-hospital food, so he offers to make her dinner at the Pub. Sloan says she’ll just meet him there after taking a walk to clear her head because she needs a little time for herself. Eric tells her to call him so he can make sure she’s okay as he then exits the room. Sloan cries to herself that it’s all her fault that Eric is not going to be a father to either one of his kids. Sloan thinks back to changing Nicole’s test results.

Theresa informs Xander that she came to pay respects to Victor. Xander questions if that’s why she is out here crying crocodile tears. Theresa calls him cynical and says she actually cared deeply about Victor. Xander mocks her. Theresa then admits the tears weren’t over Victor, but about Brady. Xander guesses Brady wasn’t thrilled to see her and told her to go to Hell. Theresa remarks that it’s the same as Sarah did to Xander.

Sarah tells Rex that she’s so grateful that he wants to be a father to her baby as after what Xander did to Susan, she doesn’t want him anywhere near their child but she questions if Rex is still sure he wants to do this. Rex says that Sarah made it clear that keeping Xander away is her primary motive for marrying him and he’s committed to her. Rex adds that he’s still committed to getting Sarah to fall back in love with him. Sarah really hopes he can do that. Rex asks if she’s sure about that because she hesitated when he brought up marriage. Sarah says it just doesn’t feel right to do it now, before Victor’s funeral. Rex agrees that makes sense. Sarah says she just wants to be present for Maggie as she’s burying her husband and none of Victor’s kids can be there since Bo is in a coma, Isabella is gone, and Philip can’t come home unless he’s going to face the consequences of what he did to Brady. Philip then walks in and announces that’s not true anymore, shocking Rex and Sarah.

Chloe goes to the DiMera Mansion and informs Nicole that Philip is alive and well and that he’s the one who framed Brady for his murder. Nicole is shocked and asks if Brady is going after him. Chloe reveals that Belle convinced Brady not to press charges, so Philip is in the clear. Nicole can’t believe it. Chloe explains that Philip has spent his time away at a psychiatric hospital but they released him. Nicole asks if he’s better now. Chloe says apparently so as he said he did a lot of work on himself and recognizes where everything went terribly wrong. Nicole calls that good news and the best part is, now Chloe doesn’t have to marry Xander.

EJ meets a woman in the park and asks if she’s sure she can get in to Bayview despite the heavy security which she assures that she can. EJ asks how she plans to do it but then decides he doesn’t want to know as long as Ava suffers the same fate as his dearly departed mother…

Harris asks Ava how she knows that Susan is alive. Ava explains that when Marlena hypnotized her, it was like she was back in that night. Harris asks what exactly she saw. Ava tells him that she was lying on the ground after the wreck and everything was on fire but as she was running, she looked back and saw Susan outside the car before it exploded. Harris questions why she didn’t just tell Marlena instead of lying. Ava says that when Marlena brought her out of hypnosis, she panicked and couldn’t bring herself to say it. Ava figured Marlena wouldn’t believe her since after all this time, she suddenly remembers that Susan is alive. Ava thinks Marlena would feel she’s making it up to get out of this place. Harris then asks if she is making it up. Ava assures that she’s not and that he knows her hallucinations are real. Ava states that when Marlena put her under, she saw it so clearly that Susan was alive before the car exploded. Harris asks if she’s absolutely sure that Susan was alive. Ava confirms that she is 100%. Harris then asks where Susan is now and where she’s been all this time.

The woman asks EJ if he’s sure about hiring her for this job. EJ assures that he’s always been happy with her work before. She appreciates the work but didn’t think EJ did this kind of thing anymore. EJ states that as a rule, he doesn’t but this is different and personal. She says she understands and he doesn’t need to worry as she will take care of Ava and it will never get back to him. EJ thanks her and adds that once she’s done, he wants her to see to it that Xander follows Ava to the grave because he’s just as responsible for Susan’s death as Ava.

Xander argues that Theresa doesn’t know anything about him and Sarah. Theresa goes over Sarah dumping Xander and leaving Salem because Xander put on a clown mask to kidnap and kill EJ’s mom. Xander argues that he did not kill Susan Banks. Theresa remarks that Sarah doesn’t see it that way. Xander says at least he’s not outside the Pub, crying his eyes out, because he moved on. Theresa questions what he’s moved on to and mocks him. Xander then informs her that he’s engaged to Chloe Lane. Theresa laughs but then realizes he’s serious. Xander decides this conversation is over but Theresa stops him and asks how on earth he got Chloe to give him the time of day after he left her with Mateo in Mexico, who she calls the only man on the planet who is a bigger piece of garbage than him.

Chloe asks Nicole what Philip being alive has anything to do with her marrying Xander. Nicole points out that Chloe was seeing Philip before he disappeared and now he’s back. Nicole says she is her friend and she wants what’s best for her and she knows that Chloe and Philip had a good thing going. Chloe argues that Philip didn’t just disappear, he framed his own death and framed Brady for murder, all because he couldn’t let her go. Nicole points out that Philip was sick but now he’s better so she asks if there’s a chance they could pick up where they left off.

Rex questions what Philip is doing here and if it’s safe. Philip confirms that Brady has graciously agreed to drop the charges against him which means he’s free to be in Salem and attend Victor’s funeral. Sarah asks if he’s clear of everything. Philip confirms that Belle worked hard to convince Brady that he deserved forgiveness. Rex congratulates him. Sarah tells Philip that she’s so sorry about his father. Rex assures that he’s there for him and whatever he needs. Philip thanks him and admits it’s kind of overwhelming to be back as he’s sure lots has changed since he left. Philip points out Sarah having a baby to start and asks who the father is. Rex claims that he’s the father and that they are so excited about the pregnancy and getting married soon. Philip says he did miss a lot as he had no idea they were even back together. Sarah goes along with it and says they’re so excited the baby will get a chance to know Philip. Sarah decides she’s going to lay down upstairs. Philip congratulates them on the baby and the engagement. Sarah welcomes Philip home as she then exits. Philip tells Rex that he’s happy for him as he knows that he never really stopped loving Sarah. Rex calls Sarah the love of his life. Philip guesses it all worked out, especially now that Xander is with Chloe. Philip then laughs at the idea of Chloe marrying Xander and questions what the hell she’s thinking. Rex then asks Philip to please tell him that he’s not still obsessed with Chloe.

Chloe tells Nicole that she will try to ignore that she’s not even acknowledging that she moved in with Xander by telling her that she’s not going to just pick up where she left off with Philip, questioning why she thinks that’s a brilliant idea. Nicole repeats that things were great between Chloe and Philip before things went off the rail and asks what if Philip is back to the guy that she fell in love with. Chloe says it doesn’t matter because she’s with someone else now. Nicole asks if they ever really move on from their first love and if part of her heart still belongs to the guy she fell madly in love with. Chloe questions if they are still talking about her, Xander, and Philip or if it’s about Nicole, Eric, and EJ.

EJ declares that he won’t rest until he avenges his mother and those that took her life will pay with their lives. Sloan then approaches EJ.

Ava tells Harris that she has no idea where Susan is as she thought she was in Heaven until a few hours ago. Harris argues that if Susan is alive, someone should be out there looking for her. Harris suggests talking to Marlena or contacting EJ. Ava says no. Harris points out that EJ is convinced that Ava killed his mother so he should know that’s not the case.

Sloan asks EJ if she’s interrupting as she thought she heard him talking to someone. EJ explains that he was just talking to an image of his mother, who died fairly recently. EJ adds that the people who took her life are walking around freely which has left him somewhat bitter. Sloan relates to the feeling all too well. EJ asks if it was her mother. Sloan says it was both her parents and that she and her brother Colin vowed to avenge them too but making promises like that leads down a very dark path…

Xander warns Theresa to watch herself. Theresa says she’s just stating the facts. Xander calls what happened in Mexico ancient history. Theresa brings up Susan Banks again. Xander argues that he’s changed and Chloe knows that or else she wouldn’t be with him. Theresa questions if he has, pointing out the wild look in his eyes and calls him still the same sadistic psycho that she’s always known. Xander argues that she doesn’t know him. Theresa says she knows plenty and that he hasn’t changed at all. Xander informs Theresa that someone just offered him a huge amount of money to do something terrible but he turned them down flat and said no. Theresa guesses he just wasn’t desperate enough, but the second he is, he will revert to form and she hopes it’s not too late for Chloe when he does. Xander insists that Chloe loves and trusts him. Theresa warns that when things get bad, she hopes Chloe sticks a knife in him like she did to El Fideo and remarks that no one would come back for his funeral. Xander grabs Theresa and warns her to shut her mouth before he shuts it for her. Eric then appears and grabs Xander, demanding he get his hands off of her.

Ava worries about EJ not believing her if she tells him about his mother when he already wants her dead for killing her. Harris points out that Susan’s not dead. The woman that EJ hired then enters the room dressed as a nurse with a syringe and announces that it’s time for Ava’s medication, leaving them confused. Ava argues that she’s never gotten a shot here, so she questions what medication that is. She claims that the doctor ordered something new which Ava questions while Harris asks for the name of the medication. She asks Harris to leave the room while she administers the injection. Harris tells her to hold on a second. She questions if he’s interfering with Ava’s treatment. Harris instructs Ava to call the doctor to confirm he ordered this. The woman questions Harris thinking she’s lying. Harris says no but that Ava has a right to know what drug she’s being given. The woman then pulls her gun out and says she was hoping to do this the easy way but Harris had to go play hero, so now they are both going to get a shot, only it’s not going to be from a needle.

Philip tells Rex that during his time away, he came to see that his love for Chloe turned in to an unhealthy addiction and he’s a lot better now. Rex asks if Philip would be able to control how he acts if he had romantic feelings for Chloe which Philip confirms. Philip then admits that he is still head over heels in love with Chloe Lane.

Nicole tells Chloe that her situation with EJ and Eric is not the same as Chloe’s with Xander and Philip. Chloe asks what is different. Nicole tries to explain it but then admits maybe it is sort of the same. Chloe complains that Nicole still wants her to dump Xander for Philip. Nicole apologizes for trying to steer her in any direction about her love life but argues that Chloe did the same by giving her grief over choosing EJ. Chloe says she did but eventually accepted it while Nicole continues giving it to her which she plans to ignore. Nicole argues that Chloe does have another option. Chloe repeats that what she had with Philip is in the past, just like what Nicole had with Eric. Nicole asks if she’s sure about her and Philip. Nicole asks what it was like when she saw Philip again. Chloe admits her heart skipped a beat when she saw him, but that’s only because she was shocked that he was alive. Nicole suggests it was her heart telling her that Philip is the one she’s supposed to be with right after dumping Xander on his sketchy ass.

Eric questions what Xander is doing. Xander responds that Theresa brings out the worst in him. Xander remarks that Brady had the right idea about her. Theresa tells him to get out of her sight so Xander walks away. Eric checks on Theresa and asks if Xander hurt her. Theresa says if Eric didn’t show up, she would’ve been the one hurting Xander. Eric asks what that was all about. Theresa says it was just Xander being Xander. Eric says it’s good to see her anyway and guesses she’s in town for Victor’s funeral which she confirms. Theresa says as much as they clashed, it felt wrong not being here. Eric comments that Victor’s been a big part of all their lives. Theresa tells Eric that it’s so good to see him and hugs him. Theresa adds that her mom told her that Eric and his girlfriend lost a baby and she’s so sorry. Theresa asks if she’s okay. Eric responds that she just got released from the hospital.

EJ questions if Sloan just came from the hospital as he sees her hospital bracelet. Sloan says she didn’t realize she still had it on. EJ mentions that Nicole told him that Sloan lost the baby and he’s very sorry. EJ adds that he can only imagine how devastated Eric is as he knows becoming an actual father was a lifelong dream of his. EJ imagines he and Nicole having a child must feel like salt in the wounds. Sloan remarks that EJ’s condolences meant nothing and asks if he’s actually enjoying knowing Eric is suffering. EJ disagrees and says as a father, he knows Eric’s pain. EJ remarks that maybe being a parent just isn’t in the cards for Eric. Sloan responds that maybe it is. EJ hopes she’s right that having a child is in the cards for Eric, but he’s very sorry that it can’t happen now. EJ calls losing a child a pain that no one deserves and says his heart goes out to both of them. Sloan thanks him for saying that as EJ then walks away.

Theresa asks Eric if he and Sloan are going to try again in a few months. Eric reveals they just learned that Sloan has a medical condition that prevents her from carrying a child to full term. Theresa says she’s so sorry. Eric is starting to think that maybe being a father isn’t a part of God’s plan. Theresa encourages that it could still happen someday and that she’s here to support him if he wants to hang out, talk, or anything because he’s always been a comfort to her. Eric tells her that he’d do anything for her. Theresa asks him to put in a good word with Brady for her. Eric questions if she’s interested in Brady since it didn’t end well. Theresa tells Eric to just forget she said anything. Theresa says she won’t pretend to know much about God and his plans, but she knows any kid that had Eric as a dad would be the luckiest kid on the planet. Theresa then hugs Eric.

Philip tells Rex that his feelings for Chloe are still strong but he’s not going to start chasing after her. Rex doesn’t want him to do anything that will jeopardize his recovery. Philip assures that he won’t do anything to break up Xander and Chloe which would free Xander up to pursue Sarah. Rex says he’s not worried about that. Philip asks why Xander would bother anyway now that Sarah is carrying Rex’s baby.

Chloe tells Nicole for the last time that she is with Xander now whether anyone likes it or not. Nicole begrudgingly accepts that. Chloe suggests a pact that they don’t get to choose who the other are with. Nicole agrees but tells her not to come crying to her when Xander shows his true colors and does something to make her regret ever laying eyes on him. Chloe tells her the same with EJ. Chloe and Nicole then laugh and hug.

Harris questions who sent the woman. Ava asks if it was EJ who sent her to kill her. She declares that the person holding the gun asks the questions and asks who wants the first bullet.

Theresa walks through the park, saying she doesn’t need Eric to put in a good word with Brady as she can do it herself. Theresa looks at her phone but then decides against looking too desperate on day 1. Theresa declares that she’s not giving up on Brady because she knows they belong together.

Philip runs in to Chloe in the town square and thanks her again for her help with Brady. Chloe says it was all Belle. Philip points out that Chloe could’ve stopped it but she stuck her neck out for him. Xander then joins Chloe and comments on Philip enjoying his freedom, asking if he ever thought he’d be just strolling in the town square again. Xander hopes he didn’t keep Chloe waiting too long and they walk off for dinner together.

Sarah returns to Rex in the living room. Rex assures that he didn’t tell Philip that the baby is Xander’s. Rex admits he doesn’t love lying to his brother but he knows it’s for the best. Rex adds that Philip is still in love with Chloe but he said he’s not going to pursue her and he hopes he’s telling the truth because Xander marrying Chloe is good for everyone, especially Sarah and her baby.

Sloan meets Eric at the Pub and asks if he still wants to be a father. Eric says of course, so Sloan asks what he says to them adopting a baby.

EJ goes home to Nicole in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. Nicole notices EJ checking his phone so she asks if something is wrong. EJ claims it’s just business as he’s waiting to hear from an associate that she’s closed a deal…

The woman EJ hired declares this is where it ends but Harris grabs her, causing her to drop the gun. As they struggle with one another, Ava picks up the gun and pulls the trigger.

Does Days Still Have a Future?

Opinion Article

by Suzanne

Days of Our Lives older actors 2023

In March, the streaming service Peacock renewed “Days of Our Lives” for two more years, which means the show will make it to its 60th Anniversary. The question is, will it last beyond that? There are many factors that put the show in jeopardy. Mind you, we hope the show is around a good long time.  We’re not optimistic, however.

The show has been on a small budget for a very long time. NBC canceled it a few years back, but they moved it to their streaming site. This was a calculated move to bring its aging audience into the world of streaming (and hopefully introduce it to younger fans).  Peacock invested some money in it, I believe, at first, but I think it’s back to being low-budget now.  One of the ways they save money is by rotating their huge cast. Certain characters come and go all the time (such as Will and Sonny) or are hardly seen (Tony and Anna).  Fans are used to this by now, even though it can be frustrating when our favorites are not given much story.

The large cast has quite a number of senior actors (see above), from a relatively-young Judi Evans (Bonnie) at age 59, to Bill Hayes (Dough) at age 98, as well as a few in their 50’s (Eric Martsolf, Stacy Haiduk, Steve Burton, Galen Gering, Greg Vaughan, Tamara Braun, and the sometimes-seen Bryan Dattilo). This isn’t even to mention the myriad over-50 actors that occasionally come and go, such as Eileen Davidson (Susan/Kristen), Kassie DePaiva (Eve), Lisa Rinna (Billie), Kristen Alfonso (Hope), Alison Sweeney (Sami), Cady McClain (Jenn), Kyle Lowder (Rex) and others…

John Aniston (Victor), who was 89, passed away at the end of last year.  We hope no one else leaves us any time soon, but it’s sort of inevitable that will probably happen in the next 5 years or so.  If the actors on the show, and their fans, die out, then what will happen to the show?  Sure, there are younger actors, but what is “Days of Our Lives” without Marlena (Deidre Hall, age 75) or Maggie (Suzanne Rogers, age 80)?  Can actors like Robert Sean Wilson (Alex) and Abigail Klein (Stephanie) be the next John and Marlena or Steve and Kayla? We may find out.

The other age-related problem is that the show doesn’t seem to offer contracts to many of their younger cast members, which is probably why they lose so many of them, such as Kate Mansi, Marci Miller, Victoria Konefal, Freddie Smith, Lamon Archey, and Camila Banus.  There are other reasons young people leave as well, such as wanting to try their hand in movies or primetime.

The show was originally a more serious soap, but in the 80’s (like many other daytime soaps), they had a lot of wild stories. Then they became a more serious soap for a while, and they’ve been up and down ever since. Since their move to Peacock, the stories have been pretty out there. I think this is part of the reason that it had lower ratings than the other soaps. It’s hard to take a show seriously when they have stories about demonic possession, people constantly coming back from the dead, psychic powers and more.  I don’t think anyone would want the show to go back to when it was boring, but it would be nice if there were a little more realism.  On the other hand, they have had some great groundbreaking stories dealing with mental illness and gay romance. Also, the show has added more three-dimensional characters of color with the addition of Li and Wendy, as well as Paulina’s family. And most importantly, they’ve given Abe a lot more to do.

Another thing they’ve improved over time is having more “love in the afternoon,” even if some people don’t approve of the more suggestive love-making scenes, as they had with the threesome between Allie, Alex and Chanel. They have many great kissing scenes (and suggestive bedroom scenes) among all of the cast, which is nice to see because it adds some realism and gives us a nice break from the outrageous or dramatic stories.  There is also a lot of humor in the show, and that credit goes to head writer Ron Carlivati.

This week they brought on 97-year-old Dick Van Dyke as a character with amnesia, which is an interesting mystery storyline. He also did a little song-and-dance with Doug and Julie, which was very fun. I don’t think Van Dyke will be on the show for very long, which is too bad. I think he’s brought new life into the show, and it would be nice to see more. I don’t mind “stunt casting,” which soaps do a lot of, as long as they are fun to watch.

There are definitely positives to the show being on streaming, including the fact that they never have to show a re-run or be impacted by daytime news interruptions.  However, they may have lost many fans who refuse to pay for Peacock Plus or Premium, or who don’t want to watch the show on their computer or phone.

One thing that’s disturbing is that the show recently got rid of its publicist and her publicity department.  This was probably a cost-cutting measure, but it seems pretty extreme to me.  None of the other soaps have done this. It makes me wonder what else they’re going to cut.

If you read about the show, you’ve no doubt heard about its recent scandal involving one of the producers. They fired him, but it sounds like they should have done that quite some time ago. Let’s hope it doesn’t have any further negative impact on the show.

Unfortunately, all TV networks are having problems financially now because there are just too many of them, and they not only have to compete with each other, but with video games, movies and other internet fun. There is a strike going on right now between the actors, writers and the big corporations that run the networks. What effect this will have on the daytime soaps and their future, we don’t know.

All we can do is keep watching and hope the show sticks around for many more years!

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Hey, how you feeling? Oh, good. Yeah. No more Braxton Hicks. Oh, excellent. You know, it looks like, uh, this little one is going to stay in the oven for a little bit longer before making their grand entrance into the world. I’m happy to hear that because I’ve been, I’ve been thinking we should be married before the baby’s born.

Theresa Donovan. Never thought I’d see your sorry little arse in Salem again. Indra. Ever the charmer. Cut the chitchat. What the hell are you doing here?

Wait, you’re telling me that Susan Banks is alive? Oh, she is. She survived that crash. Which means I am not responsible for the death of E. J. DiMera’s mother.

I need you to come and meet me in the park right now. David Vitale killed my mother and before this day is done, I want her dead too.

Hey, I stopped by the front desk on the way in. Your discharge papers are all done. You’re free to go. You ready to go home? Sloane?

Eric, there’s something I need to tell you. What’s going on? What is

it? It’s about the baby.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Eric?

I’m so sorry I lost our child. Hey, look at me. Why are you sorry?

It wasn’t your fault. I know how much you want to be a father.

When I came in here, we had so much to look forward to. Starting a family together. Being parents together and, and now… All

We still have each other. And we still have a lot of good things to look forward to.

You know, actually, I’m sure you’re pretty desperate for some non hospital food.

Hey, why don’t we go down to the pub and I’ll make you some dinner? You mind if I just meet you there? After I take a little walk, clear my head? Yeah. Sure. I just need a little time to myself. Okay. You just call me. Make sure you’re okay. I’ll make sure of the phone. It’s

all my fault. It’s all my fault that you’re not gonna be a father. To either one of your kids.

Okay, Nicole Walker. No genetic anomalies detected, blah, blah, blah. Okay, where is it? E.

G. DiMera.

Not a genetic match. Dear God. That baby’s not EJ’s. It’s Eric’s.

I came here to pay my respects to your Uncle Victor. God rest his soul. That’s why you’re so

cynical. I actually cared very deeply for Victor. Well, of course you did. a kind hearted, sentimental person. Thanks for the no one, baby. You know what, fine, the tears weren’t over him, but, and not that it’s any of your damn business, but, uh, they were about Brady. Oh, don’t tell me he wasn’t thrilled to see you.

Let me guess, he told you to go to hell? Am I right? Same as Sarah Horton did to you, am I right? Rex, I…

I’m so grateful that you want to be the father of my baby. And after what Xander did to Susan Banks, I don’t want that bastard anywhere near our child.

Are you still sure that you want to do this? Look, you made it very clear to me when you accepted my proposal that keeping Xander away was the primary motive for marrying me. And that doesn’t freak you out? No, actually no, it doesn’t. Because I’m committed to you, and I’m still committed to getting you to fall back in love with me again.

I do hope you can do that. I really do. You sure about that? Why wouldn’t I be? Because you hesitated when I brought up the subject of us getting married. It’s It doesn’t feel right to do it now. You know, before Victor’s funeral. Yeah. No, you’re right, you’re right. That, that does make sense. I just, um, I want to be present for my mom.

She’s burying her husband, and none of Victor’s kids can be here. You know, Beau’s still in a coma, and Isabella is gone, and Phillip can’t come home unless… He’s going to face the consequences of what he did to Brady. Actually, that’s not true anymore.

Philips alive. Yeah, alive and well. And he’s the one who framed Brady for his murder. He sure is. Is Brady going after him? Actually, uh, bell convinced Brady not to press charges, which means that Philip’s in the clear. Wow, I can’t believe this. I mean, what Philip did to Brady was… Insane? Yeah, in fact, he has spent this entire time away at a psychiatric hospital.

But they released him. Oh. So he’s better now? Yeah, apparently so. He said he did a lot of work on himself, and he recognizes where everything just went terribly wrong. Aw. Well, that’s good news. I guess so. And the best part is, now you don’t have to marry Xander.

I appreciate you getting here so fast. Vitaly’s inside Bayview? Can you get in there? Security is pretty tight. I’m not worried about it. So, how will you You really want to know the details, Mr. DeMera? No. No, I don’t care how you do it. As long as Ava suffers the same fate as my dearly departed mother.

Okay, so how do you know that Susan’s alive? Because when Marlena hypnotized me, it was like I was back there. It was like I was back in that night, Harris. What exactly did you see? I, I, I was lying on the ground. After the wreck, I mean, I… And everything was on fire, and as I was running, I just, I looked back, and I saw Susan.

She was outside of that car before it exploded. Ava, if you remembered all this, and Susan is alive, why didn’t you just tell Dr. Evans? Why would you lie?

When Marlene brought me out of hypnosis, I panicked. Okay, I just, I couldn’t bring myself to say it. I don’t know, I guess I just thought that she probably wouldn’t believe me. Come on, I mean, look, after all of this time, I suddenly remember that Susan is alive? Come on, I should probably think that I was just making it up so she could help me get out of this place.

Are you? Am I what? Are you making it up? No! Harris, come on! You have seen me! You know that the hallucinations are real!

Would she put me under? I just… I saw it so clearly.

Susan was alive before that car exploded.

Are you absolutely… Sure that Susan was alive? One hundred percent. Okay.

But where is Susan now? Where has she been all this time?

You sure about hiring me for this job? Of course I’m sure. I’ve commissioned your services in the past and I’ve always been happy with your work. And I appreciate the business. I just didn’t think you did this sort of thing anymore. As a rule, I don’t. But this is different. It’s possible. I understand. You don’t need to worry.

I’ll take care of the Vitali woman and it’ll never come back to you. Thank you. And once you’re done… See to it that Xandakiri Arcus follows her into the grave. He’s just as responsible for my mother’s death as Ava.

You don’t know anything about me and Sarah. Oh. So she didn’t dump you and leave Salem because you put on a clown mask to kidnap and kill E. J. DiMera’s mommy? I did not kill Susan Banks. Obviously Dr. Sarah doesn’t see it that way because from what I heard, she divorced your sorry ass so fast, she left skid marks.

Well, at least I’m not sitting outside the pub, crying my eyes out. I’ve moved on. Moved on to what? Bozo. The circus. What’s next, hmm? Juggling chainsaws. Getting shot out of a cannon. I’ll have you know, that I happen to be engaged. To Chloe Lang. Come on. You’re serious? This conversation’s over. No, hey, hey, hold on, hold on, hold on.

How on earth did you get Chloe Lane to give you the time of day after you left her in Mexico with Mateo, who’s the only man on the entire planet who’s a bigger piece of garbage than you are?

What kind of a thing is that to say? Xander? Well, because you were seeing Philip before he disappeared, and now he’s back. Chloe, I, I’m your friend. And I just want what’s best for you, and I know that you and Philip had a, had a good thing going. Nicole, he didn’t just disappear. He faked his own death and then framed Brady for murder, all because he couldn’t let me go!

Yeah, I know. Well, look, you, you said it yourself. He was sick, and now he’s better. I mean, don’t you think there’s a chance that maybe you could pick up where you left off?

Philip, what are you, what are you doing here? Is it safe? Totally. I am happy to report that Brady has graciously agreed to drop the charges against me, which means I’m free to be in Salem and to attend my father’s funeral. So you’re clear on everything? Assaulting Brady, faking your own death, and then framing Brady for it?

Bell really worked hard to convince Brady I deserved forgiveness. And amnesty. Well, uh, Congratulations. Thank you. I am, I’m so sorry about your father. I appreciate that. Look, I’m, I’m here to support you, Phillip, whatever you need, really. Thanks, bro. It means a lot. I gotta say, it’s kinda overwhelming to be back.

I’m sure a lot’s changed since I left. For starters, you’re having a baby. Ah, you noticed. Uh, can I ask who’s the father?

I’m, I’m the father, of course. And Sarah, Sarah and I are, are so excited about this pregnancy and, and getting married soon. Wow. I did miss a lot. I had no idea you were even back together. Yep. Yeah. Yes. And, uh, we are so excited that your future niece or nephew will get a chance to know you. Uh, but if you don’t mind, I’m actually going to go upstairs and lie down.

Of course. Yeah. Congratulations on the baby and your engagement. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, and welcome home.

I’m happy for you, Rex. I know you never really stopped loving Sarah. Thank you. Yes, she is the love of my life. Then I guess it all worked out. Especially now that Xander’s with Chloe. I guess, yeah. I mean, can you actually believe that she’s marrying that loser? I mean, what the hell is she thinking? Oh, no, no, Phillip.

Please tell me you are not still obsessed with Chloe.

Nicole, I will for the moment try to ignore the fact that you’re not even acknowledging that I’ve moved on with Xander, and tell you emphatically that I’m not going to just pick up where I left off with Phillip. As much as you think it’s a brilliant idea, God knows why. Well, I’ll, I’ll tell you why.

Because before things went off the rails, things were great between you and Philip. Right? And, and what if he’s back to the guy that you fell in love with and he still loves you? It doesn’t matter what he feels. I am with someone else now. As much as you have apparently chosen to block that from your mind.

I know you’re with someone else now, Chloe. But come on, do we ever really move on from our first love? I mean, isn’t there a part of your heart that still belongs to the first guy that you fell madly in love with? I’m sorry, are we still talking about me and Xander and Phillip, or have we somehow segwayed to you and Eric and EJ?

Mother,

I will not rest until I avenge you. The reprobates responsible for taking your life, they will pay with theirs.

I have no idea where Susan is. I mean, until about an hour ago, I thought she was in heaven stalking Elvis and annoying the hell out of St. Peter. What? Why are you looking at me like that? Because if Susan’s alive, somebody should be out there looking for her. I don’t know, maybe we should talk to Dr. Evans.

Or maybe, hold on, maybe we should contact EJ DiMera. Harris, no. He’s convinced that you killed his mother. Don’t you want him to know that she’s alive? Am

I interrupting? Not at all. I just thought I heard you talking to somebody. I was just talking to an image of my mother, who died fairly recently, as you may know. And the people who took her life are walking around freely, which has left me somewhat…

Bitter. Well, I know that feeling all too well. Your mother? Both my parents. My brother Colin and I, we vowed to avenge them too. But, I should just say that um, making promises like that leads you down a very dark path.

Watch yourself, Donovan. Hey, I’m just stating the facts. What happened in Mexico? That’s ancient history. Ancient history? Like Susan Banks? Well, Chloe knows that I’ve changed. Otherwise, why would she be with me? Ah, you’ve changed, have you? Well, you might want to tell that to the wild look I see in your eyes.

Because from what I can tell, you’re still the same sadistic psycho I’ve always known. You don’t know me. Oh, come on. I know plenty. You know, Brady told me when you guys were kids, you used to pluck the wings off of butterflies. You haven’t changed at all. Really? Well, did you also know before I… It was so unfortunate bumping into you, that someone just offered me a huge amount of money to do something terrible, and I turned them down flat.

I said no. Oh, Xander. You’re such a saint. But my guess, you just weren’t desperate enough. But you know, the second you are, you’re going to revert to form. And when you do, I hope it’s not too late for Chloe. Chloe loves me. She trusts me. Then I guess you have her fooled. And you know what? When things get bad, Xander, and they will get bad…

I hope that Chloe does all of us a favor and sticks a knife in you the same way she did El Fideo. And I’d be surprised if anyone came back for your funeral. Do you need to shut your mouth before I shut your hands off her!

Harris, if I tell EJ about his mother and he doesn’t believe me? Come on, he’s already said that he wants me dead for killing her. Yeah, only she’s not dead. Miss Vitale, it’s time for your medication.

I’ve never gotten a shot here. What medication is that? The doctor ordered something new to be added to your treatment. Something new? Yeah, what’s the name of the medication? Could you please step outside while I administer the injection? Okay, just hold on a second. Are you interfering with her treatment, sir?

Hey, why don’t you call your doctor and confirm that he ordered this? That’s a good idea. You think I’m lying? Of course not. But she has a right to know what drug she’s being given.

What better. I was hoping to do this the easy way, but GI Joe had to go and play the hero. Now you’re both gonna get a shot. Only. It’s not coming from a needle.

During my time away, I came to see that my love for Chloe turned into an addiction. That was unhealthy. And you’re better now, right? A lot better. So, even if you were to have romantic feelings for Chloe, you would be able to control how you act on those feelings. Exactly. Good. So… And so, with my feet firmly planted in reality, I will admit that

I am still head over heels in love with Chloe Lane. No, no, no. My situation with EJ and Eric is not the same as yours with Xander and Phillip. Oh no? What’s different? Well, first of all, Eric and I, what happened between us, the situation that, okay, you know what, maybe it is sort of the same. Yeah, and yet you still want me to dump Xander for Philip?

Fine. I shouldn’t have presumed to steer you in any kind of direction about your love life. Okay, but you, you did the same to me. Okay, as I recall, you gave me a whole bunch of grief about giving up on Eric and marrying EJ. I know I did that, but I eventually accepted it, whereas you proceeded to just give me a hell of a lot more grief about marrying Xander.

Which you totally ignored. And will continue to do so. Yes, but you actually have another option. Oh my goodness, I’m going to say this one more time. What I had with Philip is in the past. Just like what you had with Eric is in the past. Are you sure? About you and Eric? About you and Phillip. Come on, Chloe, tell me, what was it like when you saw Phillip again?

And be honest.

Okay, my heart skipped a beat when I saw him. Aha! But that’s only because I was shocked to see him alive. Or, or, maybe it was your heart telling you that he’s the one you’re supposed to be with. Right after you dumped Xander on his sketchy ass.

What can I say, Eric? Your cousin brings out the worst in me. Yeah, and that’s saying a lot. You know, Brady had the right idea about you, giving you the heave ho.

Get out you okay? Yeah. Did he hurt you? No, you know what, if you hadn’t come here and pulled him away, I would have been the one hurting him. He’s just, he’s a low life jerk. Yeah, what, what’s that all about anyway? Xander being Xander, you know, opening up old wounds. Yeah, well, it’s good to see you anyway. You in town for Victor’s funeral?

Yeah, I am. I mean, as much as we clashed, it just felt wrong not being here. Yeah, Victor’s been a big part of all of our lives. Yeah, he has. It’s so good to see you too, Eric.

Hey, um, my mom told me that you and your girlfriend lost a baby. Yeah, we did. I’m so sorry. Yeah, well… Is she okay? Actually, she just got released from the hospital.

Did you just come from the hospital? Oh, I didn’t even realize I still had that on. Nicole told me about your miscarriage. I’m very sorry for your loss. Thank you. I can only imagine how devastated Father Eric is. I know that becoming an actual father was a lifelong dream of his. Yeah. And I, uh, I imagine Nicole and I having a child must feel like salt in the wounds.

Now I know your condolences mean absolutely nothing. You’re actually enjoying this, aren’t you? Knowing Eric’s suffering. On the contrary, as a father, I know his pain.

And this may seem indelicate, but maybe… Being a parent just isn’t in the cards for him.

Maybe it is.

Well, I hope you’re right. That, uh, having a child isn’t in the cards for Eric. And you, of course. I’m very sorry that it can’t happen now. Losing a child, that’s a pain that no one deserves. My heart goes out to the both of you. Thank you for saying that.

So, will you be able to try again? You and Swan? In a few months? Actually, we just learned that she has a medical condition. That prevents her from carrying a child to full term. I’m so sorry. You know, I’m starting to believe that me being a father just is not a part of God’s plan. Eric, don’t say that, okay?

I mean… You know, it could still happen someday, and hey, I’m here to support you, okay? If you wanna just hang out or talk or just anything, you’ve always been such a comfort to me. You know, I’d do anything for you,

cuz. Think maybe you’d put in a good word with your brother for me? Brady? What? Are you interested in him? I mean, because the last time I recalled the two of you together, it just didn’t end so well. Never mind, forget I said anything. No, listen. Theresa, listen. No, you listen. I’m not going to pretend to know much about God and his plans.

But I know that any kid that had you as a dad would be the luckiest kid in the entire planet.

I see that look on your face. Yes, my feelings for Chloe are still strong. But, you don’t have to worry, I’m not gonna, I’m not gonna start chasing after her. Look, I don’t want you to do anything that’s gonna jeopardize your recovery. I appreciate that. But I meant, you don’t have to worry about me trying to break up Xander and Chloe.

Which would free up Xander to pursue Sarah. I’m not worried about that. Good. And, and, why would Xander bother doing that, huh? I mean, especially now that Sarah is carrying your baby. Right. Right.

Nicole, for the last time, I am with Xander now. Whether you or Phillip or anyone likes it. Fine. Fine. Understood. I sure hope so. Hey, can’t we just make a pact or something that you don’t get to choose who I’m with, just like I don’t get to choose who you are with? You got it. But just don’t come crying to me when Xander shows his true colors and does something to make you feel sorry that you ever laid eyes on him.

Hmm. Right back at ya with EJ.

Come here.

Who sent you? It was a DJ. They sent you to kill me. The person holding the gun gets to ask the questions. So, which one of you wants bullet number one? Ladies first?

I don’t need Eric to put in a good word for me with Brady, I can do it myself. No, no, Theresa, don’t, don’t seem too desperate on day one. I’m not giving up on you, Brady. I know we belong together.

Chloe! Hey! Oh! Hi! Thanks again for your help with Brady. It was all Belle. Uh, maybe. But, you could have stopped it. Instead, you stuck your neck out for me. It meant a lot. Look who’s enjoying his newfound freedom. Do you ever think you’d just be strolling through the square again, not caring the world? Xander?

Darling, I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long. You ready for dinner? Absolutely. See you. See you.

It’s all gone? Yeah. You didn’t tell him that… That the baby’s Anders? No, of course not. Thank you. I don’t love lying to my brother, but I know it’s what’s best. He’s still in love with Chloe, by the way. Oh, no. He’s not gonna try to pursue her. No, no, he said he wouldn’t, and I hope he’s telling the truth, because Xander, Mary, and Chloe…

It’s good for everyone. Especially you and your baby.

Do you still want to be a father? Uh, hi. Do you still want to be a father? Of course. So what do you say to you and me adopting a baby?

How’s my baby? Kicking like a football star. Real football or American football? Premier League, of course. Excellent. Excellent.

Something wrong? Oh, just business. Waiting on word from an associate that she’s closed a deal. This is where it ends. Cass!

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Sloan wanted to talk to Eric about something. He wanted to know what she wanted to discuss so she apologized about the baby. Eric didn’t blame her for losing the baby. He said they could still have a future together. He wanted to make dinner for her, but she wanted to take a walk to clear her head. She agreed to meet him later. After Eric left her room, she blamed herself for why Eric wouldn’t be a father to either child. She thought about changing Nicole’s paternity test results. EJ met with the woman he hired to kill Ava. She wanted to know if she was at Bayview. He wondered if it would be a problem. She said it wouldn’t be and he wanted to know how she would get in there. She wondered if he wanted the details, and he told her that he didn’t. He just wanted Ava deal like his mother. She was shocked he wanted to go through with the plan since he didn’t operate like that anymore. He said he didn’t operate that way, but Ava was different. He gave her an envelope full of money. He told her that he wanted her to kill Xander too. After the woman left, Sloan walked by EJ. They talked about avenging their parents’ deaths. She warned him that getting revenge can send you down the wrong path. EJ gave his condolences to her. She thought he enjoyed Eric suffering. He didn’t enjoy it, but he thought Eric wasn’t meant to be a father after all. Sloan didn’t agree with him.

Xander ran into Theresa outside of the pub. He saw her crying and she told him that she was crying because of Victor. He didn’t believe her. She admitted that she was crying over Brady. He thought it was funny how Brady rejected her. She reminded him that Sarah did the same thing to him. They continued to argue until he told her that he was marrying Chloe. They kept arguing and Xander grabbed her arm. Eric showed up and stopped him from grabbing her. Rex wanted to make sure Sarah was okay. She told him that didn’t have Braxton-Hicks anymore. He was happy about that. He thought they should get married before the baby was born. She wanted to make sure he was okay with the fact that she wanted to keep Xander from knowing the truth. He was well aware of that and wanted to marry her. He wanted to make her fall in love with him. She didn’t want to do it around Victor’s funeral because she didn’t think that would be right. She wanted to be there for Maggie. She thought it was sad that none of his kids could be there. Philip showed up just as they were talking about him. They were surprised to see him. Sarah was shocked to see him. Philip told them that Brady agreed to drop the charges against him. She offered her condolences to him. Philip asked her about the father of her baby. They said Rex was the father. He congratulated them. Harris wanted to know where Susan was, but Ava didn’t know. He thought they should tell Marlena, but she didn’t want to do it. He thought they should tell EJ, but she didn’t want to do that either. The assassin had a needle and told Ava it was time to take her medication. Ava told her that she never had an injection before. The assassin said it was a new medication the doctor gave her. Harris wanted to know what the medication was and she wanted him to leave. He told Ava to call her doctor, but the assassin pulled a gun on them before she could make the call. She told them that they were both going to die. She wanted to know who was going first. Harris fought the woman and she dropped the gun. Ava grabbed it and aimed it at the woman.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Ava is in her room at Bayview when Harris comes in to visit. Harris notes missing her at breakfast and informs her that Marlena has agreed to help her. Harris adds that he thought Ava would be more excited about that. Ava says she appreciates him going to bat for her, but she changed her mind as she doesn’t want to talk about Susan Banks and wants to forget that Susan ever existed.

EJ has a dream about his mom Susan Banks coming back but then wakes up on the couch in the living room of the DiMera Mansion.

Theresa Donovan surprises Brady by showing up at his door. She starts talking about her flight but Brady says he doesn’t understand and questions what she is doing in Salem.

Marlena sits with John and Steve at the Pub. John asks her about the new case that she has for them. Marlena explains that she met an interesting man at the hospital who is in his 90s and he was found wandering on the side of the road. Marlena adds that his memory is almost non existent as he’s not sure of his own identity. Steve guesses she wants them to figure out who he is. Marlena confirms that and also finding out who his long lost son is.

Julie goes to the hospital and takes a seat next to the John Doe. Julie talks about being at the hospital because Doug stubbed his toe on the coffee table. He tells her that he’s waiting on test results. Julie decides they can keep each other company and introduces herself, but when she asks who he is, he says that seems to be the million dollar question and that everyone has been calling him Mr. Doe. Julie says she’s sorry to hear that he’s suffering from memory loss and asks if he has any idea what caused it. He notes that Kayla said it could be from a head injury as he apparently has a bad scar on the back of his head which he jokes about. Julie talks about him reminding her of her uncle Tommy, who also suffered from memory loss after having plastic surgery and not remembering who he was. He tells her that something about that story sounds familiar to him and jokes that maybe he is her Uncle Tommy.

Marlena tells John and Steve about the man trying to find his son and that he wasn’t sure where he came from but he had memories of a farm. John says they’d be happy to help but they don’t have a lot to go on. Marlena adds that the man remembered a lot of fighting going on when trying to get back to his son. John guesses that he could’ve been off fighting in a war.

Harris thought Ava wanted to talk to Marlena and questions what changed. Ava thinks it might all just be a huge waste of time. Ava points out that she hasn’t had a vision of Susan since yesterday so maybe it’s over. Ava then imagines Susan appearing behind her, urging her to tell the truth. Ava questions what “Susan” wants her to say. She tells Ava that she needs to tell the truth about the accident.

Xander calls Chloe and leaves a message, inviting her to dinner in the town square so they can start talking about their wedding. Xander adds that Philip is not invited as he hangs up. Xander then worries about sounding insecure about Philip. EJ then shows up at the door and pulls a gun on Xander.

Theresa comments on Brady not making her feel welcomed. Brady says he didn’t mean to sound unfriendly but he’s wondering why she is suddenly here at his door. Theresa responds that she came to pay her respects to Victor since he is their son’s great grandfather. Theresa adds that Tate had school so she came alone for the funeral. Brady questions why since Theresa and Victor were never really close at all. Theresa admits they had a scratchy relationship but says they had a tender breakthrough when she left with El Fideo to protect Brady and Tate. Theresa adds that when she finally escaped from Mexico, Victor wanted her and Brady to be together. Brady jokes that is because Victor would’ve preferred anyone over Eve. Brady adds that’s also why Victor advised her to keep quiet about Chloe when Theresa and Xander left her stranded in Mexico with El Fideo. Theresa argues that was all Xander’s decision and she had nothing to do with that. Theresa declares that Xander is the entire reason that she and Brady are not together and she will always hate him for that.

Xander questions EJ pulling a gun on him. EJ states that he’s been thinking about his mother a lot lately and what a wonderful, loving person she was and how much he misses her. EJ declares that for far too long, he’s allowed her murder to go unavenged. Xander understands it was a terrible tragedy but argues that it was not his fault, it was all Ava. Xander states that Ava drove Susan off the cliff so if anyone deserves to die, it’s Ava. EJ agrees with him and then offers his gun to Xander, declaring that is why he wants Xander to kill Ava.

Ava questions his vision of Susan wanting her to tell the truth about the night she drove off the road. Ava argues that she already told that truth and it’s not a secret. Harris asks if she’s seeing Susan again. Ava says yes but then her vision disappears. Harris asks what she said this time. Ava responds that she keeps telling her to tell the truth and that she’s lying about the night of the accident. Ava swears that she doesn’t know what she was talking about. Harris encourages that she cannot do this on her own and urges her to talk to Marlena. Harris tells her that he can call Marlena now if Ava says the word.

Steve thinks John may be onto something since if the man was fighting in a war, it could explain how he was separated from his son. John says the military would have his fingerprints on file if he served, so he suggests getting his prints and running them through the database. Marlena then gets a call from Harris and steps away to answer it. Marlena tells him to tell Ava that she will be right there and hangs up. Marlena then tells John and Steve that she has to go to Bayview. Marlena asks if she can tell Kayla that they might be willing to help Mr. Doe. Steve says he can talk to Kayla about that later but right now they might have another way to crack this thing. Marlena thanks them and expresses how much she’d like to help the man track down his son. John tells her not to worry as Black Patch is on the case.

Julie tells Mr. Doe that her Uncle Tommy passed away several years ago. He guesses the search for his identity will have to continue as well as the identity of his son. He talks about not remembering much and that he and his son never met, but he feels that he is somewhere nearby. Julie encourages that finding his son could help fill in a lot of these blanks. He mentions a lot of nice people around offering to help but he can’t wait to get out there and find his son himself. Julie tells him that she has pull at the hospital so she’ll go see if she can speed things up for him while checking on Doug. Julie walks away while Mr. Doe wonders why Tommy sounds so familiar. Julie wheels Doug back over and introduces him to Mr. Doe. Julie tells him that Kayla will be sending an orderly to escort him to the tests. He thanks her. Doug asks Mr. Doe if he is married. He responds that now that he mentions it, he is and declares that he has a wife.

Steve finishes a call with Brookville police and they have no missing persons matching the description. Steve and John talk about how the man could have been walking for a couple days. John wonders if he was a veteran, he could’ve been at a VA hospital. John calls the nearest VA and asks if any patients have come up missing in the last couple of days. They say they have so John asks what they can tell him about the patient.

Marlena visits Ava with Harris at Bayview. Ava tells Marlena that when she sees Susan, she tells her that she’s not telling the truth about the accident but she doesn’t know why because she feels like she’s told the whole truth. Marlena suggests it could be something deep in her subconscious and offers to try hypnosis if she wants. Ava agrees to give it a shot. Harris wishes Ava luck and exits the room.

Xander questions EJ wanting him to shoot Ava. EJ says it’s about justice and redemption as he’s giving him the opportunity to make up for what he did to Susan. EJ knows he’s asking a lot which is why he’s willing to pay handsomely for it. Xander tells EJ that he’s not comfortable with any of this. EJ writes down his money offer and asks if that alleviates his concerns.

Brady tells Theresa that he’s no fan of Xander but he doesn’t think it’s fair to blame him for their break up as she was not exactly honest with him. Theresa admits her lies damaged their relationship. Brady adds that she escalated things by suing for full custody of Tate, which is why Victor turned on her again. Theresa acknowledges that Victor could be mercurial, but bottom line is that Victor knew they were good together and they had something special. Brady agrees that they did but it was awhile ago. Theresa argues that after all these years apart, she still thinks about him and what could’ve been. Brady starts to say he doesn’t but Theresa grabs him and kisses him. Brady pulls away and says this is a bad idea. Theresa points out that she’s single and she hears that he’s not with Chloe or Kristen anymore. Theresa asks if there is someone else. Brady admits there’s not, so Theresa thinks maybe it’s the perfect timing to give their relationship another shot.

Doug questions Mr. Doe forgetting he has a wife. He says he can’t remember her name but he can picture her face. Julie explains that he’s suffering from memory loss. Doug relates to having trouble remembering things before but he was possessed by the Devil. Doug asks if his wife is looking for him. He says he hopes so as he thinks he loved her very much.

John and Steve meet with the man in charge at the VA, who thanks them for calling about Mr. Bell. He talks about him suffering memory loss from an old head injury suffered in the war. He identifies the man as Joseph Bell. Steve asks if he has any idea where he’s originally from. He tells them that they’ve been unable to track that down as he just transferred a couple months ago and they don’t know much about him. John asks about his military files. He says his entire life history is locked up in his brain and they don’t know how to reach it.

Marlena begins hypnotizing Ava, going back to the night that Susan died. Marlena asks what happened right before the car went off the road. Ava recalls trying to escape from EJ and speeding up. Ava remembers being unable to think straight while she was imagining her son Charlie telling her what to do next and Susan kept going about her lucky hat. Ava says EJ kept getting closer and she couldn’t shake him while her vision of Charlie kept taunting her about what to do next. Ava says the car went flying off the cliff and she barely got out in time before it hit, but she must have gotten knocked out because everything goes black. Marlena asks what happened when she regained consciousness. Ava remembers lying on the ground and she could see the car in smoke and flames. Ava knew it was going to explode so she forced herself to get up and run away. Marlena asks what happened to Susan.

Xander tells EJ to forget it as no amount of money is worth another death on his conscience. Xander talks about being plagued with horrible nightmares since Susan’s death. EJ says they have that in common which is why he’s doing this as he cannot rest easy until he avenges his mother’s death. Xander tells him that he feels terrible about what happened to Susan and he’s so sorry as she didn’t deserve it. EJ tells Xander to do something about it then because Susan will not be able to rest in peace until Ava pays for what she did. EJ declares that Xander owes it to Susan to help him. Xander argues that EJ wants him to get rid of Ava for him, so he can make sure that he takes the fall and takes out two birds with one stone. EJ says if Xander gives him what he wants, he’ll have no reason to double cross him. Xander feels he has plenty of reason to want him to pay and tells him to get the hell out. EJ warns that he’s let his mother’s death go unavenged for far too long, so it’s time for Xander and Ava to pay the price. EJ then exits.

Harris returns to Ava’s room as Marlena finishes hypnosis and asks how it went. Ava responds that she didn’t remember anything new. Marlena decides she will consult with Ava’s doctors to see if it can help her remember more. Marlena tells Ava that she’s sorry she couldn’t do more. Ava thanks her and says she appreciates her kindness. Harris then walks Marlena out.

Brady questions Theresa wanting to jump back in to a relationship with him, reminding her how toxic they were at times and how much they hurt each other. Theresa argues that the good times outweigh the bad. Theresa reminds him of their makeshift wedding in their bedroom that wasn’t official but was the most romantic night of her life. Brady tells Theresa that he does not want to go back down that road with her, now or ever. Brady then asks Theresa to just go, so she then exits.

The John Doe known as Joseph Bell comments on Doug and Julie being obviously in love. Doug notes they’ve been married over 50 years and they talk about their memories. Joseph talks about singing along to the radio. Doug sings “Tea For Two” which Joseph recognizes and says he used to dance with his wife to it. Joseph suggests they dance, so they do as the three of them sing together.

John assumes Joseph doesn’t have any family they can contact. Steve brings up that Joseph talked about trying to find his son. The man at the VA confirms he’s talked about it but was fuzzy on the details. John asks if there’s anything else he can share. He says he can’t share his medical information but gives a file on Joseph’s military history. John looks through it and sees that Joseph served in the Korean War. John then comes across something and says he doesn’t believe this.

Julie thanks Doug and Joseph for the song and dance, saying she can’t remember the last time she had so much fun. Joseph praises Doug’s voice. Doug tells him that his dancing was very entertaining. Julie says she does need to get Doug home. Joseph says he enjoyed meeting them. Doug and Julie hope he figures his name out and finds his son. Joseph thanks them and feels he will get some answers pretty soon.

John informs Steve that Joseph Bell served in the same unit as his biological father, Yo Ling. John talks about gathering as much information he could and it’s definitely the same unit. Steve calls it a coincidence and that they must have known each other. John guesses they are about to find out.

Brady tells himself that Theresa is out of her mind as they are not right for each other and never have been. Brady then thinks back to their makeshift wedding that she referenced.

Theresa sits outside the Brady Pub, crying over an old photo of her and Brady. Xander then walks by and is surprised to see her.

EJ walks through the park and makes a call, saying he has a job for them as he wants them to kill Ava Vitali.

Harris returns to Ava’s room and says he’s sorry that was a bust. Ava reveals it wasn’t a bust as she lied to Marlena. Harris questions what she’s talking about. Ava declares that she remembers everything now and that Susan Banks is alive!

Ava: Yeah, look, I really appreciate you going to bat for me, Harris. I– just, I changed my mind. I don’t want to talk about Susan Banks. I would just prefer to forget that she ever existed.

[ footsteps approaching ]

EJ: Mother? [ Gasps] Oh, I can’t believe this! [ Laughing ]

[ Susan squeals ]

EJ: My God, I’ve missed you so much!

[ Both laughing ]

Susan: You know what? Have you, son? Hmm? For real?

EJ: Of course. Wh– What do you mean?

Susan: Well, you know, you don’t seem terribly upset that– uh, about my sticking untimely death. Yeah? I mean, you were all cuddled up there on that couch, sleeping like a baby.  [ Laughs ]

EJ: What?

[ Dramatic musical sting ]

[ somber music ]

EJ: [ Sighs ]

Brady: Theresa.

Theresa: Brady, you will never believe the fight I had. I was sitting next to this five-year-old who may or may not have been an actual, real life gremlin. I mean, the kid was throwing an epic tantrum for three hours straight. I swear, I thought I was going to have to give him one of my sleeping pills.

Brady: Yeah, I don’t– I don’t understand.

Theresa: Well, it was a joke, Brady. I wouldn’t drug a kid.

Brady: No,No. No– I don’t understand what you’re doing here. Why are you in Salem?

Marlena: Thanks.

John: Okay, so what’s this new case you have for us? [ Chuckles ]

Marlena: Well, I met a very interesting man at the hospital today.

John: And how interesting are we talking about?

Marlena: Oh, stop. He’s in his 90s.

John: [ Laughs ] Okay. All right. Go on.

Marlena: Well, he was– he was found wandering on the side of the road. And after Kayla had checked him out, she asked if I would take a look at him.

John: Mm hmm.

Steve: And how’d he seem?

Marlena: He, um– well, his cognitive skills are quite good. But his long- and short-term memory, um… well, almost nonexistent. He’s not exactly sure of his own identity.

John: Yeah, I been there.

Steve: So, I’m guessing you want us to figure out who he is.

Marlena: Yes. And also try to figure out who his long-lost son is.

Julie: Excuse me, is that seat taken?

Joe: It is now.

Julie: Thank you.  Ah. Well, my husband stubbed his toe on the coffee table. So, we thought we’d better get an X-ray to make sure it’s not broken. Uh, his toe, not the coffee table.

Joe: [ Laughs ]

Julie: So now I have all this paperwork.

Joe: Yeah, I’ve been waiting for some tests myself. Seems to be a backup.

Julie: Well, I’m sure we can keep each other company while we’re waiting. I’m Julie Williams.

Joe: Nice to meet you, Julie Williams.

Julie: And you are?

Joe: Well, right now, that seems to be the million dollar question.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Joe: And since I can’t remember who I am, everybody around here is calling me Mr. Doe.

Julie: I see. Well, I’m so sorry you’re suffering from memory loss. Do you have any idea what caused this?

Joe: Not really. Dr. Johnson says it may be from an old head injury or some kind.  Evidently, I got a really bad scar on the back of my noggin here.

Julie: Do you know what might have caused that?

Joe: No. I’m telling everybody I fought off a grizzly bear. Makes me sound kind of edgy and cool, you know.

Julie: Gee, you remind me of my Uncle Tommy. You look like you might be about the same age.

Joe: Is your Uncle Tommy cool and edgy?

Julie: Not so you’d notice. But he did suffer from memory loss, also.

Joe: Well, how?

Julie: Well, he served in Korea. He was wounded. He had to have plastic surgery. Whole new face. And he came home and just had no idea who he was.

Joe: Huh. Something about that story sounds familiar to me.

Julie: Why should it?

Joe: Maybe I’m your Uncle Tommy.

Marlena: While I was talking to him, he talked about trying to find his son. He’d had a dream about it and then he just began walking.

Steve: Walking from where?

Marlena: He wasn’t sure. He said he had some memories of a farm.

John:  A farm? 90, walking… Maybe from somewhere around Brookville. That’s the nearest rural area, right?

Marlena: That’s what I thought, but that didn’t sound familiar to him.

John: Well, Doc, we’d be happy to help the guy out, but to be honest with you, we don’t have a whole lot to go on here.

Marlena: There is one other thing. Mr. Doe said when he was trying so hard to get back to his son, he remembered that there was a lot of fighting going on.

Steve: Fighting? What kind of fighting?

Marlena: He didn’t say.

Steve: Huh.

John: Well, just a guess here, but it kind of sounds to me he might have been off fighting in a war somewhere.

Harris: I thought you wanted to talk to Dr. Evans. What– what changed?

Ava: I’m just– I’m thinking it just might all be a huge waste of time. You know, and look, I haven’t had a vision of Susan since yesterday, so maybe it’s over.

Susan: Oh, don’t be such an itty-bitty scaredy kitty. Ava, you need to tell the truth.

Ava: About what?

Harris: Ava.

Ava: Just tell me what you want me to say.

Susan: Well, isn’t it obvious, sister? You need to tell the truth about the accident.

Xander: Oh, hey, Chloe, darling. I, I assume you’re still visiting with Nicole. I was just wondering if maybe we could, you know, grab dinner in The Square afterwards and start discussing our wedding. You know, maybe talk about some potential datest. The– the guest list… Oh, for the record, Phillip is not invited. Okay, love you. Very smooth, Xander. Didn’t sound insecure about Philip at all.

[ Knock at door ]

[ Suspenseful music

Xander: What are you doing here?

Theresa: Oh, wow, you sure know how to make a girl feel welcomed.

Brady: Oh, okay. I didn’t, I didn’t mean it to sound unfriendly. I’m just wondering why all of a sudden you’re here at my doorstep.

Theresa: Isn’t it obvious? Look, I’m here to pay my respects to Victor. I mean, he’s our son’s great-grandfather.

Brady: No, I know. Um, I assume you didn’t bring Tate.

Theresa: No, no, he had school. I didn’t want him to miss class, so I came alone, for the funeral.

Brady: Right. But why? Theresa, you– you and my grandfather were never really that close at all.

Theresa: Sure. I mean, we had a scratchy relationship, but… Victor and I really had a tender breakthrough when I left with El Fideo to protect you and Tate.

[ Dramatic music ]

Victor: I hope you can get enough on El Fideo to put him behind bars.

Theresa: Me, too. This is the only way my family, not that you care. Sorry.

Victor: Actually, I’m very proud of what you’re doing.

Theresa: [ Laughs tearfully ] Okay. Who are you and what have you done to Victor Kiriakis?

Victor: I mean it. Brady would feel the same way if he knew what you were doing to your family.

Theresa: No, he can’t know.

Victor: You’ve come a long way, Jeannie Theresa. And I want you to know no matter what happens, we’ll always consider you a part of the Kiriakis family.

Theresa: [ Sobs ]

Victor: [ Speaking Greek] Eláte píso se emás.  That means: come back to us.

Theresa: When I finally escaped from Mexico, Victor wanted you and me to be together.

Brady: That’s because he would have chosen just about anybody besides Eve. A rabid possum would have been more preferable to him.

Theresa: [ Laughs ]  Yeah.  e sure did hate my sister, didn’t he?

Brady: Yeah, he did. That’s also why he advised you to keep quiet about Chloe when you and Xander left her stranded in Mexico with El Fideo.

Theresa: Brady, that was– No, that was all Xander’s decision, okay? I had nothing to do with that. I didn’t– Wh– Xander’s the entire reason why you and I aren’t together, and… [ Sighs] Brady, I will always hate him for that.

Xander: Whoa, what th– what’s all this, then?

EJ: I’ve been thinking about my mother a lot lately, about what a wonderful and loving person she was, how much I miss her, and about how for far too long I’ve allowed her murder to go unavenged.

Xander: EJ, I understand what happened to her was a terrible tragedy, I know you’re hurting right now, but that was not my fault.  That was all Ava!  She’s the one who drove Susan off that cliff. If anyone deserves to die for what happened, it’s her.

EJ: I agree with you.

Xander: You do?

EJ: Yes, I do. Which is why I want you to kill her.

Ava: What, what do you mean, tell the truth? -I- I don’t understand. Are you talking about the night that I drove the car off the road?

Susan: Yes, of course I am. Why else would I be here?

Ava: I already told them the truth. I- I- I told them that I drove it off the road. It’s not a secret.

Harris: Ava, are you seeing Susan again?

Ava: Yeah, she’s– She’s… she’s gone.

Harris: What’d she say this time?

Ava: She keeps telling me to- to tell the truth, that I– that I’m lying about the night of the accident, but I swear to you, I don’t know what she was talking about.

Harris: Hey, you cannot do this on your own. You can’t. You should talk to Dr. Evans. I can call her right now. Just say the word.

Steve: You know, I think John is on to something. If our Mr. Doe was fighting in a war, it could explain why he was separated from his son.

John: Well, you know, if he did serve, the military would have his fingerprints on file.

Marlena: Could you access those?

John: Sure, just get his prints right up through the database.

Marlena: So sorry. Oh, oh, I’m sorry, it’s an… Gotta take this. Dr. Evans? Yes, Harris. Oh, alright, uh, uh, tell her I will be right there. Thanks. Um, I’m sorry, I’ve got to go out to, uh, to Bayview. Is it alright if I, uh, tell Kayla that you might be trying to help out our Mr. Doe?

Steve: Well, I can talk to her about that later. I think right now we can figure out another way to crack this thing.

Marlena: Alright, thanks. He’s such a darling man, my goodness. I’d like to help him track down his son.

John: Don’t worry about it, Doc. Black Patch is on the case. [ Chuckles ]

Julie: I’m sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Doe. You can’t possibly be my Uncle Tommy. Well, he passed away several years ago.

Joe: Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Well, I guess, uh, the search for my identity is going to have to continue along with my search for my son.

Julie: You have a son?

Joe: That’s what brought me to your neck of the woods.  It’s a funny thing. I don’t remember much, but I have this feeling. He and I never met, but I just know he’s somewhere nearby.

Julie: Well, if you find your son. He’ll probably be able to help you fill in all these blanks in your life.

Joe: Mm hmm. Fingers crossed. A lot of nice people around here have offered to help me search for them, but I can’t wait to get out there and find them myself, as soon as they get that pesky CAT scan of my brain.

Julie: You know what? I have a little pull in this hospital. Why don’t I see if we can move things along?

Joe: You’d do that for me?

Julie: Well, of course I would. And I’ll check on my husband at the same time. You’ll be fine. You just sit right here, Mr. Doe.

Joe: Uncle Tommy. Korea. Why does that story sound familiar?

Doug: I don’t really need this wheelchair, you know.

Julie: I know, darling. And once we’re out of the hospital, you can dance the Shim Sham all the way to the car. But right now, there’s someone I want you to meet. Mr. Doe. This is my husband, Doug Williams. And this is a gentleman, currently known as Mr. Doe.

Doug: Mr. Doe. Pleased to meet you, sir.

Joe: Likewise.

Julie: Uh, Dr. Johnson said she’s going to send an orderly for you, or escort you to the, uh, tests.

Joe: Oh, thank you so much. You have a lovely and kind wife.

Doug: Oh, no argument there. What about you? Are you married, sir?

Joe: As a matter of fact, now that you mention it, I am. I have a wife.

[ Doug chuckles ]

Steve: Well, Brookville PD has no missing persons reports that match our Mr. Doe.

John: Of course not. It would have been too easy.

Steve: Well, you know what? We can keep checking, uh, nearby towns, huh? If he was walking and it took him a couple of days, I’d give it a radius of, say, 30 miles?

John: Mm hmm. Maybe we can narrow it down even more. If he was a veteran, maybe he was being treated at a VA hospital.

Steve: Well, look at you, Poker Face.

John: Nearest VA hospital. Got it. Hello, this is John Black. I’m a private detective. I got a question for you. I was wondering if you have had any patients that have come up missing in the last couple days or so? I see. And what could you tell me about him?

Marlena: So when you see Susan, she tells you that you’re not being honest about what happened the night that she was killed.

Ava: Yeah, but I don’t know why. I feel like I’ve told the whole story.

Marlena: Well, maybe there’s something deep in your subconscious. Um, you know, we could– we could try hypnosis if you want to see what might be there.

Ava: Let’s give it a shot.

Marlena: Okay. You’ll have to excuse us.

Harris: Oh, yeah, of course. Good luck. You got this.

Ava: Thanks.

Xander: You want me to shoot Ava?

EJ: It’s about justice, Xander. Redemption. I’m giving you the opportunity to make up for what you did to my mother.  Look, I know I’m asking a lot of you. Which is why I’m willing to pay handsomely for it.

Xander: Look, EJ, I’m just… I’m not comfortable with any of this. I-I…

EJ: Do all those zeros alleviate your concerns?

Brady: Look, Theresa, I’m no fan of Xander’s, okay? But I think it’s a little unfair to blame him for our breakup. You weren’t exactly completely honest with me.

Theresa: Okay. Yes, fine. I’ll admit that my lies damaged our relationship.

Brady: Yeah, and then you escalated things by suing for full custody of Tate. Which is why my grandfather turned on you again.

Theresa: Sure, yeah, Victor could be mercurial, but bottom line is, Brady, he knew you and I were good together, and he was right. We had something special.

Brady: We did, a while ago.

Theresa: Come on, Brady. Come on. After all these years apart, you know, I still think about you. And about us, and about what could have been.

Brady: Theresa, I don’t think that–

[ dramatic music ]

[ dramatic music ]

Brady: No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. God, God, what are– what are we doing? This is a bad idea. It’s not a good idea, it’s a bad idea.

Theresa: Brady… Brady, I’m single. From what I hear, you’re not with Chloe anymore, or Kristenha tnk God, and… Is there someone else?

Brady: No.

Theresa: Well, then I think maybe it’s the perfect time for us to give our relationship another shot. What do you say?

Doug: [ Chuckles ] You, you forgot that you had a wife?

Joe: Yeah I… No wedding ring. Can’t remember her name. But I can– I can picture her face.

Julie: Mr. Doe is currently suffering from memory loss.

Doug: I see. Uh, for a while there I had trouble remembering things myself. Turns out that I had been possessed by the devil.

Joe: [ Laughs ] Haven’t heard that one before.

Julie: Oh my dear, just stick around Salem. You’ll hear a lot of amazing things.

Doug: Do you think your wife is looking for you?

Joe: Ah, I hope so. Because I have a feeling… I- I think I loved her very much.

John: Thanks for agreeing to see us, Mr. Dugan.

Dugan: Of course. I’m so relieved to hear that Mr. Bell is alright.

John: Mm-hm.

Dugan: You said he’s at Salem University Hospital?

Steve: Yeah, that’s right. And from what we understand, he’s in pretty good shape. He’s just confused about who he is.

Dugan: He’s been dealing with memory loss for quite some time.  We suspect it stems from an old head injury he suffered during the war.

John: You said his last name is Bell?

Dugan: Yes, Joseph Bell. We kept trying to remind him, but it never seems to stick.

Steve: You have any idea where he’s originally from? He must have a home somewhere.

Dugan: I’m afraid we’ve been unable to track that down. He was only transferred here a couple months ago. He’s apparently been in the system for decades. But, with his memory the way it is, we don’t know much about him.

John: Nothing to go on in his military files.

Dugan: Every time he’s gone somewhere new, it’s like they start from scratch. His entire life history is locked up somewhere in his brain. We just don’t know how to reach it.

Marlena: Let’s go back to the night that Susan died. Tell me what you remember. Tell me what happened right before the car went off the road.

Ava: I was trying to escape from EJ. But he was right on my tail, so I sped up.

Susan: Oh, no!

Ava: Oh, my God. Here’s a tip, Susan. Don’t startle the person with the gun.

Susan: Well, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, but I- I-I just realized that I lost my lucky hat. We have to go back right now.

Ava: Are you freaking kidding me? Here’s another bit of advice for you. Keep your mouth shut, or you’re going to lose your unlucky head, too.

Ava: Everything was happening so fast. I just couldn’t think straight.  And Charlie was there, and he was… hounding me, he was telling me what I needed to do next. And Susan, Susan, she just… She kept yammering on about that stupid hat of hers.

Marlena: What happened next?

Ava: I told her to shut up.

Ava: Just shut up, okay? Shut up, I am trying to think!

Susan: I didn’t say anything! Geez.  No, I’ll stay shut up, but um, just please, please Miss Vitali, please just keep your eyes on this crippled road. I mean, it would be horrible if we get to an accident. It would be terrible, terrible.

Ava: Damn you, EJ.

Ava: EJ. He just kept, kept getting closer. And I couldn’t shake him. And Charlie– Charlie kept– he kept taunting me. He kept telling me that I– I knew what I needed to do next.

[ grunting] [ screaming ]

In the car, it just– it went flying off the cliff. And I barely got out in time before it hit, but– I don’t know, I– I must have– I must have gotten knocked out because– then everything just… It goes black.

Marlena: But you regained consciousness. What happened then?

Ava: I’m lying on the ground. And I– I– I can see the car. Just– there’s smoke and– and– and flames…. they’re everywhere.  I know it’s gonna explode so I– I force myself to get up and I just– I run away.

Marlena: What about Susan? Susan was there. What happened to her?

[ somber music ]

Xander: [ Exhales ] Forget it. No amount of money’s worth another death on my conscience. After your mother died, I was plagued with horrible nightmares. I still am.

EJ: Yeah, we have that in common, which is why I’m doing this. Because I won’t be able to rest easy until I avenge my mother’s death.

Xander: Look, I feel terrible about what happened to– to Susan, EJ.  I’m so sorry. She didn’t deserve it.

[ tense music ]

EJ: Then do something about it, then, damn it. Because my mother will not be able to rest in peace until Ava pays for what she did. You owe it to my mother to help me.

Xander: I’ve got you all figured out, Junior. You want me to get rid of Ava for you, and then you’re gonna make sure that I take the fall. Two birds, one stone, right?

EJ: If you give me what I want, I’ll have no reason to double-cross you.

Xander: You’ve got plenty of reasons. You might not want to kill me, but you definitely want me to pay.  Get the hell out of here.

EJ: Fine. But as I said before, I’ve let my mother’s death go unavenged for far too long.  It’s time for you and Ava to pay the price.

Harris: So, how did– how’d it go?

Ava: Didn’t remember anything new. [ Chuckles ]

Marlena: I’m going to consult with her doctors here. Maybe talking to the people that she’s used to will help her remember more. I’m sorry I couldn’t do more for you.

Ava: Thanks, Dr. Evans. I really do appreciate your kindness.

Marlena: My pleasure.

Harris: I’ll walk you out.

Brady: Theresa, now, come on. You want to jump back into a relationship with me just like that? Have you forgotten how toxic we were at times? Have you forgotten how much we hurt each other?

Theresa: Yeah, yeah, but the good times outweighed the bad, right? I mean, come on, Brady, don’t you remember that makeshift wedding we had in our bedroom?

Brady: Yeah.

Theresa: It wasn’t official, but it was the most romantic night of my entire life.

Brady: Theresa, I’m gonna– I’m gonna be very clear with you. I don’t want to go back down that road with you. Not now, not ever, okay?

Theresa: Brady.

Brady: Theresa, you should go. Please go.

Theresa: [ Sobs ]

Brady: [ Sighs ]

Joe: Well, obviously you two are very much in love. How long have you been married?

Doug: Over 50 years.

Joe: Oh, that’s impressive these days. Bet you have some great memories.

Julie: Oh, more than you can count. We used to own a club together.

Joe: Oh!

Julie: It was called Doug’s Place.

Joe: Catchy name.

Julie: And my darling husband sang there.

Joe: No kid– You sang? That’s fantastic. I used to sing all the time.

Julie: Oh, were you a professional?

Joe: Oh, no. But I just loved to listen to radio and sing along. You know, I can remember some of the classics, like Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and…

Julie: Gershwin, Ira Gershwin.

Joe: George Gershwin. George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.

Julie: Yeah. The brothers.

Joe: I remember those two.

Doug: Well, see, if you remember this song. I’m discontented with homes that are rented, so I have invented my own. Darling, this place is a lover’s oasis, where life’s weary chase is unknown.

[ Laughters ]

Joe: I love that song. I used to dance for my wife. Would you mind if I dance with your wife a minute?

Doug: Be my guest.

Julie: Oh, my goodness, I’d be delighted.

Joe: Let’s go.

Doug: All right, let’s all sing together. I’ll do the pickups.

Julie: Okay.

Doug: Oh honey, picture you

All: Upon my knee tea for two, and two for tea, me for you and you for me alone…

Doug: Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

All: Nobody near us, to see us, or hear us. No friends or relations on weekend vacations. We won’t have it known dear, but we own a telephone.

Doug: Two, Three, Four…

Julie: Dear!

All: Day will break, and I’ll awake, and start to bake, a sugar cake, for me to take, for all the boys to see,

Doug: Three, four,

Doug and Julie: Five, six, seven, eight!

All: We will make a family, A boy for you and a girl for me, Oh, can’t you see, how happy we would be?

Doug: Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Yah!

[ Laughter ]

Doug: Yes, we did it. We did it.

John: Well, I’m just assuming here that, uh, Mr. Bell doesn’t have any family that you know about that you can contact.

Dugan: None on record.

Steve: You know, John’s wife said he talked about trying to find his son. You know anything about that?

Dugan: He’s brought it up often. But he was pretty fuzzy with the details. We weren’t even sure if it was based in reality.

John: Yeah, yeah, well, I can understand that. So, anything else you can tell us?

Dugan: Obviously, I can’t share his medical history with you. But this folder contains information about his service that’s publicly available. His only belongings are his dog tags. Feel free to look them over. I just need to run down the hall for a minute.  Be right back.

John: Thanks again, Mr. Dugan.  Well, our Mr. Bell did serve in the Korean War. It also looks…My God, I don’t believe this.

Julie: [ Claps ] Gentlemen, thank you. Thank you for the song and the dance, and I can’t remember when I’ve had so much fun.

Joe: Same here. Although I can’t remember much. You have a lovely voice, Doug, and your wife, she can cut a rug.

Julie: Oh, boy.

Doug: As can you, Mr. Doe. That was very entertaining.

Julie: Well, fellas, I’m sure we could sing and dance the day and night away, but I really do have to get my husband home.

Joe: Of course. Look, I really enjoyed meeting you both.

Doug: Well, thank you. Same here. And I hope you find out eventually what your real name is.

Joe: Thank you, Doug.

Julie: And I hope you find your son.

Joe: Oh, thank you. You know, for some reason I feel like I’m gonna get some answers pretty soon.

Steve: What is it, John?

John: Joseph Bell. He served in the same unit as my biological father.

Steve: Are you sure?

John: Oh, hell, yeah. After we ran it with Timothy Robichiuax, AKA Yo Ling, I gathered as much information on my dad as I could, and this is definitely the same unit.

Steve: Well, now, there’s a coincidence. That must mean they knew each other, right?

John: Well, I guess we’re about to find out.

Brady: Theresa’s out of her mind. We’re not right for each other. Never have been.

Brady: Theresa. No. Do you take me to be your unlawfully wedded husband?

Theresa: [ Chuckles ]

Brady: I’m never gonna let you go.

Theresa: Yeah? Well you damn well better not. Because I plan on holding on to you until death do us part.

Brady: [ Sighs ]

[ Theresa cries]

Xander: Theresa.

[ Suspenseful music ]

[ Phone beeps ]

EJ: It’s me. I have a job for you. I want you to kill Ava Vitale.

Harris: [ Sighs ] Uh, I’m sorry, that was a bust.

Ava: It wasn’t a bust. I lied to Marlena.

Harris: Wh– what– what are you talking about?

Ava: I remember everything now. Susan Banks is alive.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Steve meets Abe in the town square and asks how his date with Paulina went. Abe calls it a disaster.

Paulina goes to see Rafe at Jada’s apartment and tells him to stop dragging his feet and accept her job offer. Paulina declares that she wants him as her police commissioner and she’s not leaving until he signs on the dotted line.

At the Brady Pub, Belle encourages Brady that she thinks it’s for the best. Brady remarks that Philip is just lucky the police department was in between police commissioners, otherwise Philip would be in jail after he left the note for Shawn. Brady apologizes as he knows she has compassion for Philip. Belle says she just knows he wasn’t in his right mind and needed help, so she is compassionate for that because of what’s going on with Shawn. Belle mentions not hearing from Shawn since Marlena put him on 24 hour hold and calls it the longest 24 hours of her life.

Shawn meets with Marlena in her office at the hospital. Marlena asks how he’s feeling. Shawn responds that he’s grateful that Marlena put him on the 24 hour hold but when he thinks about yesterday, it’s like he was a completely different person and he’s kind of embarrassed. Marlena understands he was in pain and says he did the right thing by asking for help. Shawn knows staying here last night was good for him, but he’d like to go home now.

Jada finds Kayla at the hospital and asks if she has a minute because an officer found an elderly man wandering on the side of the road. Jada notes that he seemed slightly confused and had some bumps and bruises, so she asks Kayla to take a look at him. The officer wheels the man in. Kayla greets him and asks for his name. He responds that he hoped she would tell him.

Shawn knows one night in the hospital didn’t cure him and he realizes quitting therapy was a big mistake. Shawn wants to get started again and promises to stick with it this time. Shawn thinks he will get better faster by being at home with Belle. Marlena knows Belle would like that too and says there’s no reason not to lift the hold. Shawn thanks her. Marlena says she will get the paper work started. Marlena asks Shawn to promise to get help if he starts feeling the way he did again.

Rafe tells Paulina that unless the city council amends it’s policy on supervisors dating subordinates, he’s not going back. Paulina assures that she filed an appeal first thing this morning, asking them to change the rules so that each relationship can be evaluated on a case by case basis, but they have to vote on it. Rafe argues that he knows how these things work and they can take weeks or months, so until then, he’s not going back to the job. Paulina suggests he could just stop seeing Jada.

Kayla questions the man at the hospital not knowing who he is. He explains that the officers told him that he was John Doe but he doesn’t remember his name and he doesn’t have an ID. Kayla says they need to take a look at him and make sure he’s alright. Kayla asks if it’s okay to admit him as John Doe to get things rolling. He jokes that he’s been called worse in the past but he can’t remember those either. He asks for the officer to keep him company but she says she has to get back to work. She tells him that it was nice meeting him. He thanks them for their help. Kayla then takes him to a hospital room.

Belle tells Brady that she has to get to the hospital. Brady tells her to keep him posted. John arrives and asks how Belle is holding up. Belle says as well as can be expected. John offers to buy them lunch but Belle says she was on her way to see Shawn. John assures that he has their support as Belle exits.

Shawn finds Jada at the hospital and says he’s glad he ran in to her, bringing up that Paulina relieved him of his duties as police commissioner and that she wanted to reinstate Rafe. Jada confirms that Paulina came by yesterday to ask Rafe to come back. Shawn says that’s great and that Rafe didn’t deserve what happened to him. Jada says she’ll tell him he said that. Shawn also wanted to ask Jada how she feels about being partners again since he knows things have been awkward between them and that he screwed up pretty badly. Jada assures that it would be great to work with him again. Shawn says that’s awesome and he can’t tell her how much that means to him. Shawn hopes Rafe feels the same way. Jada thinks he does but notes that Rafe hasn’t accepted the job yet and is seriously thinking about turning it down.

Rafe tells Paulina that they have already established that even if the city council change the decision, it could take a long time and he doesn’t want to be separated from Jada for even a day. Paulina sees in his eyes that she’s not going to change his mind which he confirms. Paulina understands since she’s been separated from Abe for months and it’s been killing her. Rafe asks if Abe has made any progress on getting his memory back. Paulina says no, though he did take her on a date. Rafe asks how it went. Paulina guesses that last night was the swan song to their marriage.

Steve encourages Abe that the date couldn’t have been that bad. Abe guesses it was okay at first, but then he asked Paulina to tell him how they met and she told him that she was planning to bulldoze the town square and to destroy his reputation to pull it off. Steve guesses that wasn’t her finest hour but points out that they got past it. Abe argues that lying seems to be Paulina’s modus operandi and he’s sick of being lied to. Abe declares that he’d much rather be alone than be lied to again.

Kayla checks on the man in the hospital and notes that he’s dehydrated so they are going to get him fluids. Kayla starts asking questions by asking what year it is. He confirms it’s 2023 and the year of the rabbit. Kayla asks if he knows who the President is but he says he tries to stay out of politics. Kayla asks how old he is. He jokes that he must be pretty old. He asks Kayla what the verdict is. Kayla thinks he did pretty well and decides that she will let him rest, then she will come back to reassess. He tells Kayla that he has to get out of here as soon as he can, because he’s on a very important mission.

Steve tells Abe that Paulina made some mistakes but she eventually owned up to them and she isn’t lying anymore. Abe questions why he would want to fall in love all over again with a woman like that. Steve suggests that the dude who fell in love with Paulina before wasn’t self righteous.

Rafe tells Paulina that he’s sorry things didn’t go well with Abe and asks if there’s anything he can do to help besides breaking up with Jada to accept the commissioner job. Paulina suggests Rafe could help her figure out who to hire because she needs someone as police commissioner ASAP. Jada then comes home, so Rafe asks what about her?

Belle goes to the hospital and finds Shawn, who says he was just texting her. Shawn informs her that Marlena is letting him go home and he’s just waiting on the paper work to go through. Belle asks if that means he’s feeling better. Shawn confirms he’s starting to feel like his old self. Belle says she is so glad because he really scared her last night. Shawn apologizes and promises it won’t happen again. Belle says she only cares that he’s okay and no matter how hard things get, he can always count on her and her whole family. Belle adds that John said to tell him that everyone loves him and is there for him as she hugs Shawn.

John tells Brady that he guesses he’s glad Philip is alive but complains about all that Philip put Brady through. John asks if Brady is sure he doesn’t want to press charges. Brady admits a big part of him does but Chloe and Belle are right that it’s not what Victor would’ve wanted and part of him is going to honor that man’s memory somehow. John gets that. Brady admits that he misses Victor and that it wasn’t easy being his grandson, but he knows Victor loved him and he loved Victor too. John states that Victor had a big heart and that they looked after each other after Brady’s mother died and even became friends. Brady brings up that they were once mortal enemies. John talks about Victor bringing him to Salem to be a pawn in his scheme but back then he was so messed up, suffering from memory loss, and didn’t even know who he was.

Kayla returns to John Doe’s hospital room with Marlena. He jokes about all the beautiful women around. Kayla then exits the room. He identifies that Marlena is a shrink which she confirms. He tells her that he’s not crazy. Marlena says they don’t think he is but she was wondering if she could spark his memory a bit. Marlena brings up Kayla saying he was found on the side of the road and asks if he knows how he got there. He said he was walking for a couple of days. Marlena calls that a long time. He jokes that it would be better if he had a car. Marlena asks if he recalls what his destination was. He tells her it was Salem. Marlena asks if he remembers why he came. He reveals that he came to Salem to find his son. Marlena questions his son living here in Salem. He says he’s been looking for him for years and a couple nights ago, he had a dream that he was nearby, so he started walking. Marlena asks what his son’s name is but he says he doesn’t know as he’s never met him, but thanks to his dream, he’s sure that he is right in this area. Marlena questions how he will know when he finds him then. He calls that a good question and asks if she thinks he’s crazy. Marlena understands there’s a very strong bond between parents and their children. He says his son need him and he needs him. He talks about wishing he was there for him growing up and recalls a lot of fighting at home. Marlena asks what he remembers about home. He remembers a farm. Marlena suggests he could be from Brookville but he says that doesn’t ring a bell nor does being a farmer. He declares that all he knows is that he has to find his son if it’s the last thing he ever does.

John asks how Brady is holding up since it’s been a rough couple months losing Victor and losing custody of Rachel. Brady adds Chloe being engaged to Xander and admits it’s been no walk on the beach but he’s hanging in there. John asks if there’s any chance he could talk Chloe out of marrying Xander. Brady admits he tried but thinks it’s a lost cause so it’s just something he will have to suck up, deal with, and move on from as he needs to focus on getting Rachel back anyway. John encourages Brady not to give up on love completely. Brady says maybe it’s just not in the cards for him. John disagrees and argues that he never knows what tomorrow is going to bring. John is sure that there’s a woman out there for him eventually.

Shawn tells Belle that maybe he should go to an AA meeting with Brady like she wanted. Shawn doesn’t think he’s an alcoholic but acknowledges that he’s been drinking too much and that needs to stop. Belle thinks Brady would be more than happy to go to a meeting with him as long as it’s his idea. Shawn asks even after he called Brady’s life a hot mess. Belle doesn’t think Brady will hold it against him. Shawn feels he still owes him an apology. Shawn mentions that he ran in to Jada earlier and they cleared the air which Belle is glad to hear. Shawn adds that Jada said she was fine being partners again, so if the new commissioner doesn’t have a problem with it then that means he can go back to work. Belle doesn’t think that’s a very good idea.

Jada asks what’s going on as Rafe explains that Paulina needs a new police commissioner and since they haven’t changed the policy on dating, he was recommending Jada. Rafe reminds Jada that they agreed she would be the perfect choice when Rawlings appointed Shawn. Rafe praises Jada to Paulina and adds that she’s respected by everyone. Paulina acknowledges that he makes a strong case and she’s all for supporting fellow women of color. Rafe assures that she won’t find anyone better than Jada and he can’t think of any reason not to hire her immediately, but Jada says she can think of one. Jada points out that Rafe would be prevented from coming back to the force and she’s not going to let him throw away his career because of her. Rafe argues that he won’t allow her to pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity. Jada thanks Rafe but says she’s going to have to decline. Paulina then gets a text and announces that the city council has agreed to amend the policy so there is nothing to stop Rafe from returning. Rafe asks what about Jada. Jada points out that now that the policy is changed, he can come back. Rafe and Jada go back and forth until Paulina announces that she has already made her decision.

Abe questions Steve thinking he’s self righteous. Steve apologizes and is just frustrated because Abe doesn’t remember how happy he was with Paulina. Abe admits that he’s scared and that Paulina gets to him. Abe states that he doesn’t even remember her, but she gets to him, so he’s scared. Steve understands love is scary and out of control. Steve knows Abe’s instincts tell him to run. Steve apologizes and says he’s really tired so he just popped off. Abe acknowledges that he told the truth.

Shawn questions Belle not thinking he should go back to work. Belle says not right now when he’s been going through so much, so she thinks he should take time off and not jump back in to such a high pressured job. Shawn swears he can handle it and that if things get to be too much, he’ll stop. Shawn adds that he’ll be seeing Marlena twice a week, so he really thinks he’ll be fine. Belle then agrees if that’s what he wants. Shawn thanks her and they hug.

John Doe tells Marlena that his gut tells him he’s closer to finding his son than ever before, but he can’t find him while stuck in a hospital bed. Marlena says nobody will keep him from finding his son, but she thinks it’d be best for him to rest here and get his strength back up. Marlena adds that she will try to put the pieces of his life back together and hopefully help find his son. Marlena brings up that her husband John is a private investigator and she’s sure he would be happy to take his case. He agrees that he needs all the help he can get. Marlena says they all do. He talks about everyone being so nice so maybe it was meant to be that he was brought here to Marlena. He declares that this could be the beginning of a real friendship. Marlena says she thinks he may be right.

Rafe returns to his office with Jada and places his police commissioner name plate back on the desk. Jada praises Paulina’s decision and tells Rafe that he belongs in that chair. Rafe says he doesn’t know about that but he’s happy to be back. Jada brings up all the nice things he said about her which Rafe says were all true. Jada says she really appreciated it and it meant a lot to her. Jada brings up Rafe telling her the other day that he was falling in love with her. Jada wants Rafe to know that she feels the same way as she’s falling in love with him too. Rafe and Jada then kiss.

Belle gets a text that Paulina put out a press release about Rafe being reinstated as police commissioner. Shawn says that’s great and if he can just get out of here, he can get back to her, his job and his life. Belle says she will go check on the paper work to see what’s taking so long. Belle adds that after that, he is coming home and taking the rest of the day off. Shawn says he won’t argue. Belle suggests she can make them lunch and they can binge watch a new murder mystery on Peacock. Belle thinks after that, they should get back in to a normal routine. Shawn says that sounds great as Belle walks away.

Abe stands at the Tom and Alice plaque and says he’s so glad their town square wasn’t torn down as they seem like very nice people. Paulina approaches and guesses he means unlike her. Paulina says she didn’t bother him as she knows he doesn’t want anything to do with her. Abe says that’s not true. Abe asks Paulina what she says to starting over again. Paulina responds that she likes that.

Steve joins John at the Pub. John hopes Abe and Paulina find their way back to each other because they deserve it. John and Steve toast to taking the rest of the day off and celebrating. Marlena enters and asks about them celebrating. Steve announces that they just wrapped their latest case. Marlena calls that wonderful because she has a new case for them that she thinks they will find very interesting.

Kayla informs John Doe that his CT scan is almost ready so someone will escort him to it. Kayla asks how things went with Marlena. He calls her an angel and says that her husband is going to help him find his son. Kayla mentions her husband being his partner and declares that if anyone can find his son, they can.

Brady is at home with a photo of Rachel when he is surprised by his ex Theresa Donovan showing up at the door. Theresa greets him and says it’s been awhile.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Sorry I’m late, man. John and I had an all nighter. So, how’d your date with Paulina go? Ah, well, in a word, it was a disaster.

Higher price. Something I can do for you? Yes. You can stop dragging your feet and accept my job offer. Oh, do come in. I want you as my police commissioner and I’m not leaving here until you sign on the dotted line.

I think it’s for the best, Brady. All I can say is Philip is damn lucky that the Salem PD were in between police commissioners when I left that note. Otherwise his ass would be in jail exactly where it belongs, Belle. Sorry, I know that you have compassion for him. Listen, I just know that he, he wasn’t in his right mind.

He needed help. And yes, I am compassionate to that, considering everything that’s going on with Sean. Have you heard from him? No, not since mom put him on that 24 hour hold. It’s been the longest 24 hours of my life.

Sean, how are you feeling today? I’m, I’m grateful actually, that you put me on that hold. I’d like to put you on a 24 hour hold so we can assess you and figure out the next step. I would feel a lot better if you would agree to that. Whatever you think is best. Doesn’t have to happen right this minute. We could, we could talk for a while.

I said, look at me. We’re in this together. We’ll get through it together.

I’m, I’m sorry I let you down. You did not let me down. I’m so proud of you that you came here and you asked for help. Okay. We’re gonna be okay. Everything is gonna be okay, but when I, I think about yesterday, it’s, it’s like I was a completely different person. And to be honest with you, I’m, I’m kind of embarrassed.

There’s no need to be. You were in pain. You did the right thing. You, you asked for help. And I got it. Marlena, I know, I know that me staying here last night, that was a good thing for me. But, um, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to go home. Now. Kayla,

Oh, sure, sure. What do you need? One of our officers was patrolling the outskirts of town, and they found an elderly man wandering alongside the road. Hi. He seems really sweet, but he’s also a little confused, and he has some scrapes and bruises. Would you take a look at him? Oh, absolutely, no problem. Thanks.

Hello, sir. Hi, I’m Dr. Johnson. Can you tell me your name? I was hoping you’d tell me.

Sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Look, I know that one night in the hospital didn’t, I mean, didn’t cure me. And, um, and I realized that quitting therapy, that was… That was a big mistake. And like I said last night, I, I want to get started again. And this time, I want to, I’m going to stick with it. Promise. But I just think that, you know, if I’m going to get better faster, I think that I’d be better off being at home.

You know, with Belle. Yeah.

I know Belle would like that too. And judging by your session with Dr. Patel, I’d say there’s No reason not to lift the hold. Thank you. I will get the paperwork started. Sean, if you begin feeling the way that you did yesterday again, promise me you’ll get help. Promise me.

Boy, you could be sitting there for quite a while. Because unless the City Council amends its policy on supervisors dating subordinates, I’m not going back. I filed an appeal first thing this morning. I asked them to change the rules so that each reported relationship can be evaluated on a case by case basis.

And? They’re going to vote on it. When? They didn’t say. Of course they didn’t. You see, I know how this works. These decisions, they could take weeks, even months. And until then, I am not going back to that job. Or, maybe you could just stop seeing Jada.

So, you don’t know who you are? This, uh, attractive young officer here, I’m sorry, is it okay if I call you Mr. Fairfax? Well, just this once. This attractive young officer here and this other attra… Oh. It’s okay, but one more attractive and we may need to write you up. Well, I like to keep up with the times.

Okay, how about this, uh, this, uh, efficient officer here and this other efficient officer there told me that was John Doe. Um, I don’t think that’s really my name. You don’t, huh? Um, any ID? No? Um, well listen, how about this? Uh, sir, uh, uh, we need to take a look at you and make sure that you’re alright. So, would it be okay with you if we just admit you as John Doe and that way we can just get things rolling?

John Doe doesn’t have a lot of pizzazz to it. Although, I’ve been called a lot more than that in the past. It’s funny, I can’t remember those names either. Well listen, why don’t we get you settled in a room, okay? Can Officer Silver come with me? Oh, why do you, why do you say that? Well, look at her. Wouldn’t you like to have her for company?

Well, that’s very kind of you, but I do need to get back to work. Oh, too bad. It was a real pleasure meeting you, and I wish you all the best. Always the same as you, honey. Uh, maybe we’ll see each other sometime? You never know. Well, man can dream, can’t he? You take care of yourself, okay? And the same to you.

Look, thank you both. You’ve both been very efficient. It was our pleasure. Ah, she doth teach the torches to burn bright. Oh, you can add a broken heart to my ailments right now. Ah, duly noted. Well, apparently we don’t need to worry about your eyesight, huh? For my taste.

Alright, it is time for me to get to the hospital. Hey, keep me posted, okay? Yes, I will. Oh, hey, Dad. Hey, yourself. How you holding up, sweetie? Uh, as well as could be expected. Right, right. Hey, I got my kids here. Can I buy you lunch? Oh, I was actually going to see Sean. Right, right. Well, just let him know that he has our full love and support.

Just like you do, and don’t you ever freak him out. Oh, okay. Thank you. Alright. Love you, Tink. Love you. Gina, hey. Sean, hey. I’m, uh, I’m glad I ran into you. You, uh, you heard that Pauline will leave me and my doo doos as commissioner, right? Yeah, she said she wants to reinstate Rafe. Yeah, she came by yesterday to ask him to come back.

That’s great. And, listen, I want you to know that I, I think that she’s making the right decision. What happened to Rafe, uh, he doesn’t deserve it. I’ll tell him you said that. Also, I, I wanted to ask you how you feel about, uh, being partners with me again. Look, I know that, I know that things have been awkward between us for a while, and, uh, I know that I screwed up pretty badly, but I just Sean.

It would be great to work with you again. That’s awesome. I, I can’t tell you how much that means to me. I just, I hope that Ray feels the same way. I think he does. He hasn’t accepted the job yet. In fact, he’s seriously thinking about turning it down.

Mayor Price. Paulina, please. Paulina. Look, we’ve already established that even if the City Council admits that they were wrong and wants to change the decision, it could take a long time. I don’t want to be separated from Jada for months, a week, or even a day.

Ah, I can see it in your eyes. I’m not going to change your mind. You’re not. I suppose I can understand. I’ve been separated from Abraham for months and it’s been killing me. Yeah, I know. How’s that going? Has he made any progress on getting his memory back? No. Although he, he did take me on a date. Really?

Wanna go? My guess is that last night, was a swan song to our marriage.

Come on, man. Date couldn’t have been that bad. It was okay, at first, I guess. Then, uh, Then what? I asked her to tell me how we had met. And she told me that she was planning to bulldoze this entire square. And to destroy my reputation in order to pull it off. Oh. Well, I guess that wasn’t her finest hour. But you two got past it, didn’t you?

Oh, and I remember that, don’t I? Look, lying seems to be her modus operandi. And after the last few months, I’m just sick of being lied to. I’ve had it up to here. I would much rather be alone than to be lied to again.

Well, you’re pretty dehydrated, so we’re going to give you something that’ll perk you up. Oh, uh, intravenous single malt, maybe? Uh, more like a vintage Ringer’s Lactate, uh, you know, pairs well with Jell O. Okay, listen, I’m going to ask you a few questions, all right? And listen, don’t worry about it, if you don’t get them right or you don’t remember, it’s no big deal.

Not to you. Touche. Okay, uh, let’s start with, um, do you know what year it is? Uh, 2023, Year of the Rabbit. Oh, you show off. Um, how about, do you know who the current President of the United States is? You know, I try to stay out of politics. Oh, fair enough. Okay. How about, um, Do you know how old you are? Well, you know, from the looks of it, I’m pretty old.

If I’d have known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. I’m charming, though, right? Yes, yes, I would agree with that. So, Doc, what’s the verdict? Have I got all my marbles? I think you did pretty well, actually. But I’m going to go away, let you rest for a bit, and I’ll come back and we’ll reassess.

Okay, but just so you know, I have got to get out of here as soon as I possibly can. Really? Yeah. Why is that? Well, you may not know it, but look at me. I’m on a very important mission.

Okay. I know Paulina made some mistakes, but she eventually owned up to them, right? I mean, she’s not lying anymore, is she? Why would I want to fall in love again all over with a woman like that?

Sigh. Oi, what? Maybe, because the dude who fell in love with Paulina before wasn’t a self righteous prick.

Sorry, things didn’t go well with Aiden. Is there anything I can do to help? You could reconsider my job offer. Besides breaking up with Jada and taking the Commissioner’s job. Sigh. If you’re so dead set on turning me down, maybe you can help me figure out who to hire. I need someone in place ASAP.

What about her?

Sean. Oh, oh, hey, Val. I was just texting you. Oh. Your mom, uh, she lifted the hold. I’m just waiting for the paperwork to come through. Does that mean you’re feeling better? Yeah, yeah. I feel, I feel like I’m, you know, getting back to my old self. Good. I’m so glad. You really scared me last night. Look, I know. I know I did, and I’m sorry about that.

It’s not gonna happen again, I promise you. care about is that you’re okay. Yeah, well, I, uh, I am now. Good. And you know no matter how hard things get, you can always, always count on me. And that goes for my whole family. I actually just saw my dad and he said to tell you that everyone loves you. And that we’re all here for you.

Hey.

Okay, I guess I’m glad that Phillip’s alive. But you know what I’d like to do is go over there and wring his little curiocus neck. Come on, Sonny, I put you through all of that, and now it’s like, Oops! Oh, my bad! Sorry, my bad! Hey, I know, I know. Okay, so you sure you don’t want to press charges? Part of me does.

Big part of me does, dad, but honestly, Chloe and Belle are right. It’s not what grandfather would have wanted. And there’s a part of me that…

I want to honor that man’s memory somehow. Yeah. Yeah, I get that. Kinda. I don’t know, dad. I miss him. It wasn’t easy being his grandson, I’ll tell you that, but I, I know he loved me. Dammit, I loved him. Too. The man had a big heart. I’m saying that because after your mother died, we, um, we kind of looked out for each other.

Actually became friends. Which is pretty crazy considering you two were once mortal enemies, right? That’s a fact. From the moment he brought me from that hospital in Miami up here to Salem to be the pawn in his game. But you know what, back then I was so messed up. And I was suffering from memory loss and I didn’t even know who the hell I was.

Mr. Doe? Um, I’m going to go set up your CT scan, but in the meantime, I brought my good friend and colleague, Dr. Evans, to chat it up with you. Is this a hospital or a modeling agency? One beautiful woman after another. You are incorrigible. But charming. Well, that’s true. All right. I’ll see you later. Well, Doctor.

I’m not new to the rodeo here. You’re shrink, I guess. Yes. I am a psychiatrist. Oh. Well, uh, no offense, but I’m, I’m not crazy. I’m not even a little bit neurotic. Well, we don’t think that you are. I was wondering, uh, if I could maybe spark your memory a bit. Would that be helpful to you? Oh, completely. Have at it.

Okay. Dr. Johnson tells me that, uh, you were found on the side of the road. Do you know how you got there? Walking. Yeah. And apparently your shoes were rather worn out. Yeah. Do you know how long you were walking? Um, a couple of days. Wow. That’s a long time. I’d have been better if I’d had a flying car or even a regular car.

Yeah. But given your determination to get here, do you recall what your destination was? Here. Salem. Oh. And do you recall why you were coming here? To find someone very important to me. My son.

So, your son lives here in Salem. I don’t know. I’ve been looking for him for a long time. Years, actually. Then a couple of nights ago, I had this dream that he was nearby. And I put on my sturdiest walking shoes and I started walking. What’s your son’s name? I don’t know. I never knew him. Never met him. But thanks to this dream, I’m sure he’s right in this area.

Well, if you don’t know his name, and you’ve never met him, how will you know when you find him? Pretty good question, but some I… I’m feeling it in my heart. You think I am crazy? No, I think it’s normal. It’s a very strong bond between parents and children. And that’s why I have to find him. My son needs me.

I need him. You know, I wish I could have been there when he was growing up. There was so much fighting going on. And I had to get home. I remember, yeah, I had to get home. And what do you remember about home? I remember a farm. Well, maybe, maybe, maybe you’re from Brookville. There’s a lot of farmland there.

It doesn’t ring a bell. Do you think you were a farmer? No, it doesn’t ring a bell either. For all I know, I could have been a chimney sweep or a street artist or something like that. But all I know is I’ve got to find my son. It’s the last thing I ever do.

So how you holding up, kid? It’s been a rough couple of months here. Victor and losing custody of Rachel. And then, uh, Chloe being engaged to Xander. Yeah, it’s been, uh, It’s been a walk on the beach, Dad, but I’m hanging in there, you know. There’s not any chance that you can talk Chloe out of marrying that son of a bitch.

I’ve tried. I think it’s a lost cause. I think it’s just something that I’m gonna have to suck up and deal with and move on from, and… I need to focus on getting Rachel back anyway. Yeah, that’s, uh, that’s great, that’s important, that’s, uh… Just don’t give up on love completely, kid. I don’t know, Dad, I mean…

Maybe it’s just something that’s not in the cards for me. Ah, come on, that’s a bunch of bull. I don’t know. You never know what tomorrow’s gonna bring. And I know that there is a woman for you out there. Somewhere. Eventually, I’m sure of it.

I was thinking that, uh, maybe I should go to a meeting with Brady, like you said. I, I don’t, I don’t think that I’m an alcoholic, but I do know that I’ve been drinking too much. And that needs to stop. Well, I think Brady would be more than happy to go to a meeting with you. As long as it’s your idea. Even after how I spoke to him yesterday?

Saying that his life was a hot mess? Well, I don’t think Brady’s gonna hold that against you. He knows you were in an… Great shape at the time. Yeah, well, great shape or not, I, I owe him an apology. Uh, which reminds me, I, uh, I ran into Jada earlier, and we cleared the air. Good, good, I’m glad to hear that. Yeah, I asked her how she felt about being partners with me again, and she said she was fine.

So, if the, uh, new commissioner, who may or may not be Rafe, doesn’t have a problem with it, then that means I’m gonna be able to go back to work. What? Sean, I don’t think that’s a very good idea.

So, uh… What’s going on here? Well, Mayor Price needs a new police commissioner. And since they haven’t changed the policy on dating, I was recommending you. Me? Well, when Rawlings hired Sean, we agreed that you’d have been the perfect choice. Jada is extremely qualified, not to mention she has the best closed case record on the force.

She is smart, level headed, and an excellent administrator. And not only that, she’s respected by everyone. You make a strong case, and I am all for supporting my fellow women of color. Oh, trust me, you will not find anyone better than Jada. In fact, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t hire her immediately.

I can think of one.

If I become the commissioner, the current dating policy would prevent you from coming back to the force. You would become my subordinate. Well then maybe I wouldn’t come back. No, forget it. I’m not about to let you throw away your career because of me. Well, I’m not about to let you pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Thank you, but I’m Jada. Wait, wait, hang on a second, hang on a second, I just got a text. The city council has agreed to amend the policy. Oh, see now? There’s nothing to stop you from returning as commissioner. Well, what about Jada? This isn’t about me. Yeah, of course it is. How? Now that they changed the policy, you can come back.

Working for you? No. Okay, wait. Just stop right there, the both of you. Now you can argue till you’re blue in the face. It won’t make a damn bit of difference. I’ve already made my decision.

So you think I’m a self righteous freak? No, no, no, no. Dude, I’m really sorry I called you that. I think I’m just frustrated because you don’t remember how happy you were with Paulina. Happier than you’ve been in years.

I’m scared.

So there, I’ve said it. She gets to me. I don’t even remember her. But she gets to me. I’m scared. Of course you are. Cause love is freaking scary, man. By definition, you’re out of control. You can’t figure out how she makes you feel the way you do. So all your instincts tell you to run. And the whole time you’re running, you’re telling yourself you’re just being rational.

Who needs to be happy anyway?

I’m sorry, man. I’m really tired and I… I just popped off and told the truth.

You don’t think I should go back to work? No. No, not right now, Sean. You’ve been going through so much. I just think that you should take some time off and not jump back into such a high pressure job right now. Okay, well, listen. I get where you’re coming from, okay? I do. But I can handle this, I swear. Hey, look, if things get to be too much at work, then I’ll just stop.

Plus, I’m going to be seeing your mom twice a week, so she’ll keep me honest. Listen, I really think I’m going to be fine. I do. Okay. If that’s what you want. Thank you.

Locked my gut to defining him than ever before. Of course I can’t do it while I’m stuck in this bed. Hmm. Well, nobody’s gonna keep you from finding your son. But I think for right now, you would, you would do well to stay here, rest up, and get your strengths back. And what I’m gonna do is try to put the pieces of your life together.

And hopefully help you find your son. You really mean that? I do mean that. In fact, my, my husband John, um, is a private investigator. Another, uh, John Doe? No. No, his name is John Black. And, um, he calls me Doc as well. But I’m sure he’d be happy to take your case, if that’s okay with you. Are you kidding? I need all do.

You know, everyone here’s been so nice. You know, maybe it was meant to be that young officer brought me here, and led me straight to you, Dr. Evans. You know, this could be the beginning of a real friendship. I think you may be right.

Paulina made a very wise decision. Oh, I don’t know about that, but, um, I’m happy to be back. Yeah, well, you belong in that chair. And the fact that you said all those wonderful things about me… Oh, come on, they were all true. Yeah, well… I really appreciated that. It meant a lot to me. And, uh, you You told me that you were falling in love with me.

And I want you to know that I feel the same way. I’m falling in love with you

too. Well, the mayor’s office just put out a press release. Looks like Rafe has been reinstated as commissioner. Oh, that’s great. Now, if I could just… Get out of here and get back to you and the job and my life. Okay, well I’ll go see what’s taking the paperwork so long. Alright, thank you. But then after that…

Listen, you are not going back to the station. You’re coming home, and that is final. You are taking the rest of the day off, and that is settled. You’ve got no arguments from me. Good. And then maybe I can make us lunch, and we can binge watch something. Oh, there’s a new show on Peacock I wanted to check out.

Okay, as long as it’s not a rom com. Would I do that to you? No, it’s a murder mystery. I don’t remember the name of it, but it got really good previous. But like I said, after that I think we should just get back into a normal routine. That sounds great.

I’m so glad your square wasn’t torn down. You

seem like, like very nice people.

Unlike me, right?

Well, you know. Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bother you. I know you won’t want anything to do with me. No, that’s, that’s not true.

What do you say if we start over again? Really? Really? I

think I like that.

Yeah, I sure do hope Abe and Paulina find their way back to each other because they deserve each other. Unlike our client and her cheating spouse. So what do you say, partner, take the rest of the day off and do a little celebrating? Yeah! Celebrate! Oh! Hey, Doc! Yeah, we’re gonna celebrate. Black patch just wrapped up our latest case.

Oh, that’s wonderful. Because I think I have a new case for you. And I think you’ll find it very interesting.

Okay, the CT scan is almost set up. So if you can just sit tight here, somebody will come and escort you to it. Thank you. Um, how did things go with Dr. Evans? That woman is an angel. Her husband gonna help me find my son. He’s a private eye. Yes, I know that. My husband is his partner. And if anybody can find your son, they can.

From your lips.

Theresa? Hey Brady. It’s been a while.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Belle is at the Brady Pub, on the phone with Marlena. Belle talks about the relief knowing that Shawn is getting help and agreed to the 24 hour hold, though she knows he won’t get past this in just a few hours. Belle finishes her call as Brady enters the Pub. Belle hugs him and thanks him for agreeing to meet. Brady says it sounded urgent and asks if it’s about reopening the custody suit. Belle informs him that it’s about Philip. Brady realizes that she knows that Philip is alive and well. Belle reveals that she knows lot more than that as she knows what he wants. Brady can’t believe that Belle took on Philip as a client and questions who conned her in to doing that.

Chloe sits at home and thinks back to Philip showing up at her door, Philip revealing what he had done, then asking Brady if he would have Philip arrested, and calling Belle to be Philip’s lawyer. Xander interrupts her by commenting that she’s a million miles away. Chloe claims she was just thinking about all she has to do at work. Xander suggests they should get to work but Chloe asks him to go ahead as she has a million things to do. Xander offers to help her but Chloe promises she’ll be fine and that it’s no big deal. Xander remarks that if he didn’t know any better, he’d say she was trying to get rid of him. They then hear a glass break and Xander comments that if he didn’t know any better, he’d also say they aren’t alone.

Stefan makes sure he and Gabi are alone in their room as they go over knowing now that Dimitri married Gwen to get his hands on the family fortune and also that he has a side piece. Gabi calls it risky behavior to be sneaking his side piece in to the DiMera Mansion. Stefan calls it stupid behavior because if Elliot finds out, his fortune is gone. They wonder when Dimitri would’ve met someone else anyways or why he wouldn’t just kick Gwen to the curb and marry the side piece instead. Gabi declares that the burning question is why Dimitri married Gwen instead of the side piece.

Dimitri argues that Leo can’t be serious about dressing up as Gwen to come meet the lawyer. Leo says he’s serious and all he asks for is the check he promised him. Leo points out that the act would have to be perfect and no one knows Gwen better than he does.

Gwen questions why Kristen would assume Dimitri told her everything and what she means. Kristen claims it’s nothing at all and that she just jumped to the wrong conclusion. Kristen tells Gwen to just forget she said anything. Gwen says she would like to but she can’t because it’s Kristen. Gwen states that she and Dimitri just got back from their honeymoon and they are madly in love, so she questions why Kristen would assume she’d be so angry that she’d want to hit him over the head. Kristen repeats that she jumped to the wrong conclusion. Gwen feels it’s not as random as she’d like her to believe. Gwen brings up Kristen saying she and Dimitri were discussing strategy for the DiMera board room and that Dimitri said they were going to partner up with another member of the family, but he didn’t say which family member. Gwen asks if she thought she would be so pissed off by it which Kristen goes along with, so Gwen questions who it is. Kristen says she’ll have to ask Dimitri. Gwen argues that she can see Kristen is dying to let the cat out of the bag. Kristen then agrees to tell her but adds that Gwen has to tell Dimitri that she forced her to give her the name. Kristen then tells Gwen that it’s Chad and that she told Dimitri she would be furious. Gwen responds that she’s not furious, but confused because everyone knows Chad hates her for coming between he and Abigail, and he’s not fond of Kristen, so she questions why Chad would want to partner up with her husband and Kristen.

Dimitri argues that the lawyer is no fool and would spot Leo in a second. Leo argues that he must not know drag and that he can make this work. Dimitri warns him about how much money would be riding on him. Leo brings up Dimitri pretending to be an ISA officer in his attempt to take over the world. Leo asks if Dimitri is saying yes.

Stefan wonders why Dimitri wouldn’t marry the side woman instead of Gwen. Gabi suggests she could be married or engaged but questions why he would marry Gwen when she has a worse reputation than herself. Gabi thinks there’s another reason he married Gwen and it’s big. Gabi complains that they need to figure this out today.

Brady questions Belle discussing legal strategy with Philip and Chloe to try to figure out how Philip won’t have to pay for his crimes. Belle insists that Philip is sorry for what he’s done. Brady guesses this is why Shawn didn’t call him back last night and explains that he went straight to Shawn’s office but he wasn’t there, so he left him a note to call him right away. Brady assumes that means Shawn is on Philip’s side. Belle then reveals to Brady that Shawn is no longer police commissioner since Paulina became mayor and decided Rafe should be in that job. Brady apologizes for shooting his mouth off. Belle informs Brady that Shawn is in a really bad place right now as he’s never going to forgive himself for shooting Bo and now he blames himself for Victor’s death, so she worried that Shawn could hurt himself or worse. Belle adds that Marlena got Shawn to commit himself to a 24 hour watch at the hospital, so he’s safe for now. Brady asks if there’s anything he can do. Belle says there’s only one thing and that’s not press charges against Philip.

Chloe reminds Xander that he said he wanted to get to the office. Xander questions ignoring the loud noise from her bedroom. Chloe tries to claim it was the neighbor’s apartment. Xander asks if it’s Brady and says now he knows why Chloe wanted him to go to the office without her. Xander guesses that Brady came by while he was in the shower and that she told him to hide in the room because he was still there. Chloe calls that ridiculous and says it’s not Brady. Xander asks who it is then. Chloe then calls for him to come on out, so Philip reveals himself, shocking Xander.

Gwen asks Kristen what Chad has to gain by working with her and Dimitri since he’s at Titan now. Kristen says he’s still a voting member of the DiMera board and nobody else has approached him yet, so she suggested that she and Dimitri try to entice him in to being a silent partner. Gwen tells Kristen to entice whoever she pleases and to leave her out of it. Gwen decides she wants to take a nap and exits the room.

Gabi tells Stefan that she’s going to search Dimitri’s room because there has to be something in there that will tell them what they want to know. Stefan then follows Gabi out.

Dimitri worries to Leo that this is all very risky. Leo swears that it’s not, pointing out that most of Gwen’s clothes are still in his room from when she lived there. Leo says he’s sneaking around behind his best friend’s back because he can’t resist Dimitri and he flew to Iceland because he couldn’t be without him. Leo assures that he would not put what they have in jeopardy if he wasn’t certain he could pull it off. Dimitri responds that he better get dressed then as they kiss.

Kristen calls Dimitri and says she made up a cover story which Gwen bought. Dimitri complains about having to pretend he’s working with his uncle Chad, who despises him. Kristen brings up that Dimitri said he would have no choice but to tell Gwen. Dimitri tells her that he has something in the works and he will keep her posted. Kristen warns that he damn well better solve his problem because she’s counting on that pay day as they hang up. Dimitri complains about Leo taking so long and worries that he’s doomed.

Brady tells Belle that he asked what he can do for her because of Shawn and tells her not to use that to guilt him in to letting Philip off the hook which she argues she is not doing. Belle says she’s just trying to make him understand that Philip was mentally ill, but he’s better now. Belle knows Brady believes in second chances and adds that Victor would’ve wanted them all to help Philip get his life back together. Belle pleads with Brady, noting that she knows he has no reason to forgive Philip but she also knows he has a big heart so she knows he can do this for him.

Xander questions Philip faking everything and framing Brady which he confirms. Xander remarks that people go on about how bad he is. Philip argues that he was out of his mind. Chloe points out that Philip can’t show his face in public or he could go to prison. Xander questions holing him up in their spare room and notes that he wouldn’t know if he didn’t knock over the lamp, so he questions how long Chloe planned on keeping him in the dark.

Stefan suggests to Gabi that they should make sure everyone is out of the house but Gabi worries that would give Dimitri time. Stefan decides to keep watch in the hall while Gabi sneaks in to Dimitri’s bedroom.

Elliot Roth is in his room at the Salem Inn, on the phone. He says he’s waiting on Dimitri and his wife now and he plans to leave Salem as soon as the meeting is over. Elliot says he hates being away from them too and he loves them as he hangs up when there’s a knock at the door. Elliot answers the door to see Dimitri. He asks where his wife is. Dimitri responds that she’s a little nervous and is checking her make up. Leo then arrives dressed in drag to pretend to be Gwen and tells Elliot that it’s such a pleasure to meet him.

Gabi searches Dimitri’s bedroom. Gwen runs in to Stefan in the hall and question what he’s doing lurking outside of her and Dimitri’s bedroom door. Stefan claims he just noticed the painting on the wall and how beautiful it is. Gwen says she’s going to lie down for a nap and orders Stefan to get out of her way but Stefan says he can’t let her go in there. Gwen questions why the hell not. Gwen asks if there’s a reason why he doesn’t want her to go in to her own bedroom. Stefan claims that he just saw Harold go in there to unpack her things. Gabi hears them from inside. Gwen informs him that she already unpacked herself. Stefan suggests Harold’s unpacking Dimitri’s stuff too and invites Gwen to go downstairs and have a drink where she can tell him all about the honeymoon. Gwen tells Stefan that he can ask Leo, since he’s such a good friend to her that he decided to show up to her honeymoon. Gwen asks Stefan to get away from the door, so he steps aside. Gwen then heads inside.

Dimitri asks Elliot what he needs to know about them. Elliot explains his relatives having concern that their marriage is just out of convenience for the terms of his trust fund. Dimitri remarks that his family are a bunch of cynics but he and Gwen know the truth. Elliot points out the timing of their wedding being suspect. Dimitri argues that he was ready to let the money go because the right woman hadn’t come along but then one day, Gwen walked in to his life and he knew immediately that they were destined for each other. Leo tells Elliot that he hasn’t heard half of their story and that he’s about to learn what a marriage made in Heaven is all about.

Belle comments on Brady getting quiet. Brady responds that he’s trying to think. Kristen enters the Pub and greets them. Brady asks what she wants. Kristen says she heard about Victor and she would say she’s sorry but that would be a lie. Brady asks about Rachel. Kristen says she came here to get food for Rachel. Brady warns Kristen not to get used to her custody.

Chloe apologizes to Xander for not telling him about Philip but says she didn’t want to put him in a position to have to cover for him. Chloe asks Xander to forgive her. Xander admits he can’t stay mad at her and tells Philip that it’s good for him that Chloe still cares about him. Philip acknowledges that Xander is the one Chloe is marrying and congratulates him, saying he’s a lucky guy. Philip adds that Chloe deserves whatever she wants and what she wants is apparently Xander.

Kristen reminds Brady that the judge concluded he was the threat to Rachel and he was right as she brings up what he did to Philip. Brady tells her not to say that he didn’t warn her. Kristen mocks him and exits the Pub. Belle guesses that exchange told her everything she needed to know and that Brady is pressing charges against Philip. Brady reveals that she’s wrong as she talked him out of it. Belle asks if he’s going to keep this quiet. Brady sees that when Philip shows his face in public, he’ll be cleared of all wrongful charges and admits that Philip going to prison doesn’t help him get what he wants which is getting his daughter back and away from Kristen’s clutches as soon as possible. Brady declares that he will not press charges against Philip. Belle doesn’t know how to thank him.

Xander goes over Philip being in major trouble and that he could go to prison but he decided to come back and risk all that just to go to Victor’s funeral. Philip admits that he was sick of hiding and when he heard about his father, he had to be here in hopes of saying a final goodbye and being with family. Chloe then gets a text from Belle.

Gwen enters her bedroom to find Gabi covering the bed with roses. Gwen asks if that’s supposed to be funny. Gabi claims that they heard her honeymoon got cut short so they were trying to make it up to her. Gwen tells her to give it up and admit that she was snooping. Gabi questions why she would do that. Gwen brings up the DiMera board meeting. Stefan tells Gabi there’s no sense in denying as Gwen caught them red handed. Gwen declares the room will be locked from now on and tells them to get the hell out. Gabi remarks that she should’ve known not to tangle with her. Gwen remarks that the DiMeras are all alike. Gabi points out that Gwen is a DiMera too now, for as long as the marriage lasts anyway. Stefan and Gabi then exit together.

Elliot is fascinated to hear about the marriage made in heaven. Dimitri tries to say his wife gets carried away but Leo says he’s eager to share. Leo says they didn’t even like each other when they first met but he realized that it was a defense mechanism because he was falling hard for him, but had no reason to believe anything would come of it. Leo says it feels like destiny now but at first there were too many obstacles. Leo adds that they were determined to push those obstacles out of the way and no one understands what they have. Leo remarks that losing a best friend used to seem unthinkable but questions giving up on a man who is so perfect for him. Elliot calls that very moving but the problem is, he’s not Gwen any more than he is.

Belle tells Brady that Chloe is so relieved and Philip will be too, so she can’t thank him enough. Brady assures that he needs the judge to know that he’s no killer, the sooner the better. Brady declares that he wants his daughter back and as long as that happens, Philip has no reason to fear him. Belle assures that Philip will be so grateful. Brady clarifies that he’s not doing it for Philip but for Victor, Belle, and Chloe.

Philip can’t believe that he can see his mother, go to his father’s funeral, and try to get his life back. Philip guesses all that’s left to say is thanks for everything. Philip apologizes for the intrusion. Chloe tells Philip that she’s really happy for him and tells him to take care of himself. Philip congratulates Xander again and tells him to be good to Chloe as he then exits their apartment.

Leo insists that he is Gwen but Elliot reveals that he’s done his homework and he’s also been to a few drag shows with his husband. Elliot says whoever he is, he’s good but not good enough. Elliot adds that the speech he gave about his feelings for Dimitri, he could tell was from the heart, so it’s obvious that they are in love. Dimitri then gets a call from Gwen but ignores it.

Gwen leaves Dimitri a message to call as soon as he can because she just caught Gabi in their room. Gwen says that Gabi and Stefan are on the warpath and trying to get something on him.

Gabi and Stefan go back to their room, talking about how gullible Gwen is to believe this is all about DiMera business. Stefan notes that now Gwen has her guard up but Gabi doesn’t think that will matter anymore. Gabi then reveals what she found before Gwen came in, a paper from Dimitri’s luggage. Stefan sees that Dimitri paid for two rooms. Gabi guesses that means Dimitri brought the other woman on his honeymoon. Stefan then reveals that Dimitri didn’t bring a woman, he brought Leo Stark which shocks Gabi.

Leo questions Elliot being able to tell they are in love. Elliot says it’s obvious and that they can’t act on it because of the homophobic legal document stipulating that Dimitri must marry a woman to be eligible for his inheritance. Elliot assures that he’s on their side but there’s limits to what he can do. Elliot says as far as he’s concerned, Dimitri has met the terms but others won’t see it that way. Elliot explains that the fund will be paid in payments and gives the first one, but notes that if he wants them to keep coming in, he will have to keep up appearances with Gwen and she cannot be aware of their relationship, nor can the rest of the world. Elliot hopes that someday in the future, they won’t have to hide their true feelings. Leo declares that he’ll go back to hiding his true feelings the minute they leave as he then kisses Dimitri.
